Loki sits in Thor’s lap because that’s normal brotherly behaviour and all the avengers are averting their eyes thinking that the bros are just really bad at keeping an illicit relationship a ‘secret’ and they don’t want to address it out of respect for their privacy

WandaNat x Fem!Avenger Reader
TW: Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Suicide Attempt, Drowning
Translations:
любимая = Beloved
Дорогой = Darling
Моя любовь = My Love
мой ангел = My Angel
------------------------------------------
The quinjet rumbled as it soared through the evening sky, the aftermath of a mission lingering heavily in the air. Y/N sat in silence, staring out of the window, her thoughts drowning in a tempest of self-doubt and frustration. Despite the mission's success, Steve's reproach echoed in her mind, each word carving deeper into the wounds they'd been hiding.
Wanda Maximoff, sensing the heaviness in the air, slid closer to Y/N, intertwining their fingers. "Hey," she whispered, her voice a soft caress. "You know Steve can be harsh sometimes. Don't let it get to you."
Y/N managed a faint smile, appreciating Wanda's attempt to console her, but the darkness within remained unspoken. Natasha Romanoff, seated across from the two, shot a concerned glance her way. Y/N averted her gaze, unwilling to let anyone see the turmoil within.
As the jet continued its journey back to the compound, Steve, unable to let the matter rest, confronted Y/N again. "This is a team, Y/N! We depend on each other. You can't afford to make reckless decisions like that."
Natasha, always protective, stepped in, "Steve, ease up. We all made it out fine."
Ignoring Natasha's plea, Steve continued his admonishment. Y/N, feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders, fought to hold back tears. Wanda squeezed her hand, offering silent support, but Y/N abruptly withdrew.
Natasha, observing the sudden change, leaned toward Wanda and asked in a hushed tone, "Is Y/N okay?"
Wanda shook her head subtly, her concern mirroring Natasha's. She glanced at Y/N, who had moved to a different part of the quinjet, staring into the distance. Natasha excused herself and approached Y/N cautiously.
"Hey," Natasha said softly, concern etched in her eyes. "You can't keep everything bottled up. What's going on?"
Y/N hesitated, the weight of her unspoken struggles threatening to spill over. "It's nothing, Nat. Just tired."
Natasha saw through the facade, but before she could press further, Wanda joined them. "Everything alright?" she asked, her eyes flickering between Y/N and Natasha.
Y/N forced a smile, avoiding eye contact. "Yeah, just tired."
Wanda, sensing the evasion, decided not to push, but the worry lingered in her gaze. As the quinjet descended towards the Avengers' compound, the unspoken tension within the team remained, a storm waiting to be weathered.
The compound's landing pad greeted the quinjet with a soft hum as it touched down. Y/N, still grappling with the emotional fallout of the mission and Steve's stern words, stepped off the aircraft, leaving the conversation suspended in the air.
Nick Fury, a stern expression etched on his face, awaited Y/N. "Agent Y/L/N, my office. Now."
Y/N exchanged a quick, worried glance with Nat and Wanda before nodding and following Fury. The redheads shared an anxious look, their concern growing as Y/N disappeared from view.
In Fury's office, the atmosphere was heavy with tension. Nick wasted no time in listing every perceived mistake during the mission. Y/N listened in silence, internalizing the criticism, each word adding another layer to the self-doubt she was trying so desperately to conceal. When the reprimand concluded, Fury dismissed Y/N with a curt nod, leaving her alone to grapple with the weight of her perceived failures.
Returning to her shared room, Y/N found Nat and Wanda sitting on the bed, a palpable worry etched across their faces. Without a word, Y/N moved towards the bathroom, needing a moment to collect herself.
Natasha, her gaze following Y/N, sighed, "дорогой, what's going on? You're not fine."
Wanda, leaning against Natasha, added, "Моя любовь, we can see something's bothering you. Talk to us."
Y/N emerged from the bathroom, the facade still intact. "It's nothing, really. Just a rough day."
Natasha frowned, concern deepening. "Don't shut us out, дорогой. We're here for you."
Wanda nodded, her eyes pleading. "Моя любовь, we care about you. Whatever it is, we can face it together."
Y/N hesitated, the weight of her struggles conflicting with the desire to protect the ones she cared about. "It's just... a lot. I'll be okay, I promise."
Natasha and Wanda exchanged glances, unconvinced but respecting Y/N's choice for now. Y/N offered a weak smile, attempting to reassure them. "I just need some time to clear my head. Thanks for understanding."
The aroma of pizza wafted through the Avengers' common room, where the team had gathered for their weekly pizza and game night. Natasha and Wanda, dressed casually for the occasion, approached Y/N, who seemed lost in thought.
"Hey, Y/N, pizza's here. Game night's starting soon. You coming?" Natasha asked with a playful smile.
Y/N looked up, weariness evident in her eyes. "Nah, I think I'll pass tonight. Just really tired and could use some sleep."
Wanda exchanged a concerned glance with Natasha, but they respected Y/N's decision. "Alright, if you need anything, we'll be downstairs. Take care," Wanda said, leaning in to kiss Y/N gently on the cheek. Natasha followed suit, leaving a lingering kiss on Y/N's forehead.
As the hour passed, laughter and the clatter of board game pieces echoed from below. Y/N, lying in bed, couldn't shake the sense of isolation that gripped her. Faint strains of joy reached her ears, intensifying the ache of loneliness within.
Unable to resist the curiosity, Y/N decided to check on the festivities. Slipping out of bed, she quietly descended the stairs and peeked around the corner. The sight of the team sharing laughter and camaraderie only deepened Y/N's sense of alienation.
A heavy sigh escaped Y/N as she turned to leave, footsteps echoing her retreat. Unbeknownst to Y/N, Natasha noticed their departure, nudging Wanda to glance in the direction of Y/N's retreating figure.
"Something's not right," Natasha murmured, concern etching her features.
Wanda nodded, her eyes following Y/N. "Let's check on her."
The two redheads hurriedly excused themselves, making their way to catch up with Y/N. However, by the time they reached the compound's entrance, Y/N was nowhere in sight.
"Y/N!" Wanda called out, but the night swallowed their words.
Natasha scanned the surroundings, worry etched on her face. "She couldn't have gone far. Let's split up and find her."
Unbeknownst to Natasha and Wanda, Y/N, grappling with a storm of emotions, had ventured into the quiet darkness outside the compound, feeling like a solitary star in a vast, lonely sky.
The night enveloped the compound in a somber embrace as Y/N walked the familiar trail to the lake. The water, usually a source of solace, reflected the moon's gentle glow. Y/N's footsteps echoed in the quiet, each step heavy with the burden she carried.
As Y/N reached the lake, dark thoughts clawed at the edges of her mind, whispering lies of inadequacy and isolation. The water's surface mirrored the turmoil within, rippling with each conflicting emotion.
Unbeknownst to Y/N, Wanda, attuned to the depths of her thoughts, felt a sudden jolt of concern. She sought out Natasha, urgency etched in her expression. "Nat, something's wrong with Y/N. I can hear her thoughts, and it's not good."
Natasha, instantly alert, nodded. "Let's find her. Fast."
Together, they traversed the compound, their search fueled by a shared determination to reach Y/N before it was too late.
Meanwhile, Y/N, standing at the water's edge, contemplated the dark abyss within and beyond. The weight of her struggles pushed her toward a perilous decision. In the solitude of the night, the lake seemed to beckon, offering an escape from the storm within.
Wanda and Natasha, guided by an unsettling intuition, pressed on. Natasha's voice broke the silence as they moved with purpose. "We have to find Y/N before..."
Wanda finished the thought, her worry evident. "Before it's too late."
As Y/N waded into the water, fully clothed, the coldness biting at her skin, the gravity of her actions began to sink in. Yet, the relentless darkness within urged her forward, drowning out reason and hope.
Wanda's eyes widened as the echoes of Y/N's thoughts intensified. "Nat, we're running out of time."
Natasha quickened her pace, fear gnawing at her. "We have to find her now."
At the water's edge, Y/N ventured further, oblivious to the silent urgency echoing through the night. With each step, the water's embrace grew colder, and the depths seemed to welcome her into a haunting embrace.
The water closed in around Y/N, reaching her neck as fatigue weighed heavily on her limbs. The struggle to stay afloat became a losing battle, and the haunting depths of the lake seemed to embrace her with a chilling finality.
Meanwhile, Natasha and Wanda combed through the woods, searching for any sign of Y/N. Wanda's eyes widened in realization. "I remember. There's a lake Y/N used to go to when things got tough. She has to be there."
Natasha, fueled by a surge of concern, urged Wanda to lead the way. "Let's go. We need to find her."
In the dark waters, Y/N's final reserves of strength gave out. She surrendered to the depths, letting the cold water seep into her lungs. Consciousness waned, and the world faded to a surreal blur.
As Natasha and Wanda reached the lake, the sight of Y/N's abandoned shoes on the edge sent shivers down their spines. Wanda's eyes scanned the water's surface, catching a subtle disruption near the middle of the lake.
"There," she pointed to Natasha, urgency in her voice. Without hesitation, both women plunged into the water, swimming with determined strokes toward the disturbance in the otherwise tranquil lake.
Natasha's voice broke the silence, her concern palpable. "Y/N!"
Wanda echoed the call, her desperation fuelling her movements. "Y/N, where are you?"
The moonlight danced on the water's surface as they searched, driven by the fear of losing their girlfriend. The lake, once a haven for Y/N, now held a silent secret beneath its depths, as Natasha and Wanda raced against time to bring Y/N back from the edge.
Wanda dove beneath the surface, the cold water enveloping her as she searched for any sign of Y/N. Her senses heightened, she felt a faint brush against her, and her heart leaped. She moved swiftly, hand extended, until her fingers closed around something solid. As she pulled it towards her, relief surged through her when she realized it was Y/N's hand.
Breaking through the surface, Wanda clutched Y/N to her chest. Natasha, seeing the distress on Wanda's face, swam over to assist. Wanda struggled to keep Y/N afloat, her arms wrapped protectively around the younger woman.
Natasha's expression mirrored the urgency of the situation. "Wanda, fly Y/N back to the shore. Start CPR. I'll swim back and meet you there."
Wanda nodded, determination in her eyes. With a burst of energy, she levitated herself and Y/N out of the water, flying towards the shore as fast as she could. Natasha propelled herself through the water, a powerful swimmer on a mission.
As Wanda landed on the shore, she cradled Y/N in her arms, laying her gently on the ground. Panic and relief mingled in her eyes as she started CPR, each compression accompanied by whispered words of encouragement.
Natasha emerged from the water, swiftly joining Wanda. " I'll take over."
Wanda, tears streaming down her face, nodded and stepped back. Natasha seamlessly continued the lifesaving efforts, the rhythmic compressions and breaths punctuating the tense silence. The fate of their girlfriend hung in the balance, and as Natasha worked to revive Y/N, the night seemed to hold its breath.
Natasha continued the lifesaving measures, the rhythm of compressions and breaths a desperate cadence against the quiet backdrop of the night. Wanda, her voice steady despite the urgency, dialed Bruce Banner, urgency lacing her words. "Banner, we need the med bay ready. It's Y/N. Hurry."
Y/N, caught between the realms of consciousness and oblivion, finally expelled water from her lungs. Wanda and Natasha, relief etched on their faces, surrounded her, coaxing her back to the present.
Natasha whispered, her voice a gentle reassurance, "Дорогой, stay with us. You're gonna be okay."
Y/N, seeking solace in the familiar, inched closer to Wanda, the redhead's presence a comforting anchor. Wanda, her arms encircling Y/N, whispered sweet nothings, her words a balm to the turmoil within. "Моя любовь, you're safe now. We've got you."
As Wanda lifted Y/N into her arms, carrying her like a precious burden, Natasha draped her jacket over Y/N's shivering form. They embarked on the hurried journey back to the compound, the weight of Y/N's quiet apologies hanging in the air.
Y/N, struggling to stay awake, murmured softly, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..."
Wanda tightened her hold, pressing a gentle kiss to Y/N's forehead. "Shh, любимая, it's okay. We're here for you."
Natasha added, her voice firm yet soothing, "No apologies, мой ангел. We've got you, and we're going to take care of you."
The night held their collective breath as they rushed towards the compound, the echoes of the lake's silent secret gradually giving way to a glimmer of hope.
Upon reaching the compound, Natasha and Wanda hurriedly carried Y/N to the med bay, where Bruce Banner awaited their arrival. The atmosphere in the room shifted, tense yet focused, as the two redheads gently laid Y/N on the examination table.
Bruce, his usual calm demeanor replaced by concern, immediately started assessing Y/N's condition. "What happened?"
Wanda, her voice trembling slightly, explained, "Y/N went to the lake, and we found her in the water. We need to make sure she's okay."
Bruce nodded, directing the medical team to assist. "I'll take it from here. Give us some space, but stay close. We might need you."
Natasha and Wanda exchanged a worried glance before reluctantly stepping back, their eyes never leaving Y/N's unconscious form. As the medical team worked, the room buzzed with tension, each passing moment intensifying the weight of the night's events.
Wanda's fingers interlaced with Natasha's, the silent communication between them reflecting shared concern. Natasha pulled Wanda into a reassuring hug, their unspoken support a lifeline amidst the uncertainty.
After what felt like an eternity, Bruce finally turned towards them. "Y/N will be okay. She expelled most of the water, but we'll keep Her under observation for a while. She need rest."
Relief washed over Natasha and Wanda, the gravity of the situation slowly lifting. They entered the recovery room where Y/N lay, pale yet breathing steadily. Wanda took a seat by Y/N's side, and Natasha joined her, the unspoken bond between them palpable.
As Y/N began to stir, Natasha brushed a strand of hair from her face, whispering, "Hey there, мой ангел. You gave us a scare."
Y/N's eyes met Wanda's, and a faint smile tugged at her lips. "I'm sorry," she whispered, the weight of her earlier apologies lingering.
Wanda leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to Y/N's forehead. "No need for apologies, любимая. We're just glad you're back with us."
Natasha and Wanda sat on either side of the bed, their eyes filled with concern and love as Y/N recounted the harrowing events at the lake.
Wanda spoke first, her voice soft yet firm, "Y/N, we care about you. You're not a burden, and your problems are never 'stupid.' We're your girlfriends, and we want to be there for you, no matter what."
Natasha added, her gaze steady, "You don't have to face everything alone. We're a team, remember? Lean on us when you need to."
Y/N looked down, her fingers nervously playing with the sheets. "I just didn't want to bother you. It felt like I was drowning in my own thoughts, and I didn't want to drag you down with me."
Wanda reached for Y/N's hand, squeezing it gently. "Your thoughts and feelings matter to us. You're not a burden, and we want to help carry the weight together."
Y/N nodded, feeling a mix of gratitude and vulnerability. "I understand. Thank you both."
Natasha, always pragmatic, stood up. "Alright, enough serious talk for now. I'm going to get us some coffee and soup. You two stay put."
As Natasha left the room, Wanda shifted to lie next to Y/N. She tenderly ran her fingers through Y/N's hair, placing soft kisses on their forehead. "You're safe now, любимая. We're here for you, always."
Y/N let out a sigh, leaning into Wanda's touch. "Can... can you cuddle with me?"
Wanda smiled, her eyes full of warmth. "Of course, моя любовь."
Natasha returned with a tray, placing it on a nearby table. "Coffee for us, soup for you. Eat something, alright?"
Y/N nodded, and as Wanda curled up with them on the bed, Natasha took a seat nearby. The room was filled with the soothing aroma of coffee, the gentle murmur of their voices, and the unspoken assurance that, in each other's company, they could weather any storm.

Night Sky
\Pairing: Steve Rogers x teen!reader, Bucky Barnes x teen!reader
Warning: hints of depression, anxiety, not being able to sleep, fear of the future, life going too good and knowing it might crash on you fear
A/N: Self-indulgent fic, going to write two fics tomorrow. just going through something right now.
Tumblr media
You couldn't describe what you were feeling.
Righ now, you were sitting on the window sill, looking at the night sky in the Avengers Compound. This was your favorite spot in the whole world. Your feet were hanging out of the building, and it had enough room for more people to join. It made you feel free.
You should be asleep, but you spent all day sleeping, not really wanting to do anything else. So now it was 3am, and you were wide awake.
As you sat quietly, you heard the elevator ding behind and you heard the pair of combat boots walking behind you. “I’ll work on the mission report tomorrow, just tired and want to head to bed.” You heard Steve say as the second voice responded. “I feel you man, happy to be home,” Bucky spoke. as he was about to turn down his hallway, he noticed you sitting and tapped on Steve’s shoulder. “hey,” he quietly whispered as his head moved in your direction. Steve furrowed his eyebrows as he realized it was you that was up. The two men had a silent conversation with their eyes before sighing and walking towards you.
“Hey Y/n, you okay?” Steve spoke as you heard them get closer. You turned your head to face the two soldiers. “I'm fine, just enjoying the night sky,” you spoke with a slight smile. “Scoot over,” Bucky said with a smile. You obliged as they got situated on either side of you.
“How was the mission?” you asked looking at steve. He ran his hand over his face and he let out a breath. “Tiring, but it went well. No casualties,” he spoke. “That’s good,” you replied. Bucky was focusing on your face, trying to read what you were thinking and going through. but he couldn’t tell. “what's going through your mind, doll?”
“Nothing,” you whispered. Steve looked at you confused, “nothing?” he asked. “Yeah, absolutely nothing.” you sighed as you pushed some hair back. “And it’s kinda scary,” you said, “I feel.. peaceful. And I don't want it to go away.”
“Well,” Bucky started to speak, “what makes you think it will go away? Maybe everything is finally going right for you, and you deserve that,” he commented. “This feeling of ‘peace’ is what I was feeling before everything changed for me,” you explained. “I went through months of severe depression and anxiety, I felt everyone I love start to move away from me. Not to mention getting a whole new group of people to learn about and powers. And it was so,” you shared with them as you felt the tears well up in your eyes, “so hard to go through.”
“We know kid, And we are proud of you,” Steve chimed in as we wrapped his arm around you and gave you a gentle squeeze. “You were dealt a bad set of cards, but you pushed through and came out stronger than ever.” Steve and Bucky were proud of how far you have come since moving in. They were there to help you through the rough depression patches and really supported you.
“But what if,” you mumble, “what if it gets bad again. What if everything comes crashing down and I lose this peaceful feeling that I have been looking for. I can’t go through that again,” you rambled out. The men exchanged glances before Steve nodded to Bucky, who lead the conversation.
“You can’t control the future kid. You can do whatever you can to help shape it, but you can’t lock it in place. Trust me, we can definitely attest to that.” Bucky chuckled as he motioned to Steve. “But you can be prepared. You can get a good base to fall back on if you need it.” You nodded towards Bucky, “okay,” you whispered. “Will you guys be there for me?”
Steve kissed the top of your head. “Every step of the way,” he said as you shifted more into his side. You took your free hand and intertwined it with Bucky’s metal hand as you all looked at the night sky.

Oversized (Bucky x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Bucky x reader. You order an oversized hoodie in the mail, and your teammates are obsessed with how cozy it feels, especially Bucky.
Word Count: 1.1k
Content Warnings: Pure fluff. Hugging underneath clothes. Avengers tower fic.
A/N: This fic is a request for the lovely @cherry-season. Thank you for all your support and patience these last few weeks, you're a star! And I loved writing this prompt! As always requests are open, just drop me an ask or inbox me if you have an idea 💜
********************************************
"Oh. My. God." You stifled a laugh as you stepped in front of your bedroom mirror.
You had ordered an oversized hoodie from an online clothing store, but you didn't expect it to be this big. It draped off you like a bed sheet, the sleeves hanging several inches below your wrists, and the bottom falling at your knees like a chunky sweater-dress.
"I mean... the colour is cute I guess?" You chuckled to yourself, gazing over the cherry coloured fabric.
"Y/N! Foods cooking!" Natasha's voice bellowed up the hallway.
"Okay! On my way!" You shouted, still turning your body in the mirror - you looked like a fluffy penguin. But it didn't matter, dinner was almost ready and you needed to head downstairs. Throwing your hair into a quick messy bun, you grabbed your phone and made your way to the living room, dressed in your new attire.
As you approached the lounge, you heard a loud giggle erupt from Natasha, who was perching against the door, drink in her hand.
"What on Earth are you wearing Y/N?"
"Well..." you stuttered, laughing as you went on to explain how you came to be donned in what looked like a red king sized duvet with arm holes.
"You could literally fit a person under there!" Natasha exclaimed as she lowered her head, straightening up against your under layer of a vest top and black leggings as her body seemed engulfed by your hoodie.
You chuckled at her closeness - she was right. Your friend was well and truly wrapped in the fabric.
"Hey guys!" Nat called to the rest of the room. "You gotta try this!"
Turning to face the others, you saw Wanda sitting at the small coffee table, and Tony watching television with Peter seated next to him, phone in hand. To your right, your two best friends Bucky and Steve, sprawled out on the large sofa as they shared the newspaper, catching up on the latest news.
You couldn't help but study Bucky's features as he shifted his gaze to you, following Natasha's words. He was one of your best friends, but you couldn't deny you were falling for him. His dark shoulder length hair framed his face as his piercing blue eyes found yours, goosebumps rising over your body, enamoured with your favourite super soldier.
His brows furrowed as he noticed your breathing hitch. You passed him a soft smile, a small gesture to say I'm fine, as you mentally kicked yourself for being so obviously affected by his company. You were sure he noticed. But it was Bucky, and with you, Bucky always noticed.
"Lemmie try!! It looks super toasty under there!" You broke out of your thoughts at the sound of Peter's voice. Padding over to you, he stuck his head inside your hoodie like an excited puppy. Tony was right, this kid really had no chill. Chortling against your under layer, he wrapped himself like a cocoon, only to emerge after a few seconds with a wide grin.
"Wow, Y/N, you need to wear this more often! You're like a walking radiator!"
Heading over to the last empty space on the sofa, you lay down next to Steve, who curiously peeked over his newspaper to catch a glimpse of the hoodie that had been causing such a ruckus.
"Oh, to be fair Y/N that does look cozy..." he smirked.
You sighed and shook your head with raised eyebrows and a half smile. "Go on then, I know you want too."
The Captain gave a low chuckle, and slid his hand respectfully under the cotton material, careful not to make contact with your skin or under layer. "Woah, it really is like a heated blanket under there."
"Hang on, I gotta try this." Wanda's voice echoed from the other side of the room, as she stepped over to you, squeezing her slim form on the sofa as she moved to face you. In true Wanda style, your friend ducked underneath your hoodie, enveloping you in a tight hug.
"Oh my God Y/N." Her words vibrated against your tank top, causing a giggle to escape your throat. "Tell me I don't have to leave. This is so snuggly."
"Wanda!" You yelled between laughs. "Get out you're making me ticklish!"
As Wanda returned to her seat at the coffee table, Natasha's voice rang out once again.
"Tonyyyy!" She sang. "C'mon you gotta try this."
"Nope. Absolutely not."
"Um..." The sound of someone clearing their throat caught everyone's attention, and all eyes reverted back to... Bucky. "I-I'll try..."
Your heart skipped a beat as your best friend crawled across the couch, positioning himself at the edge of your new hoodie. Looking up at you for confirmation, you nodded sheepishly as he lifted up the material, and nuzzled his head against your torso.
Attempting to remain calm, you focused on taking some deep breaths, knowing full well that if your heart rate increased, Bucky would certainly feel it with his body pressed against yours.
"Mmm" The vibrations of his mouth sent shivers down your lower half. "I could stay here forever doll..."
Unable to contain the smile that crept onto your lips, you sighed in comfort. The look on your teammates faces seemed to share your sentiment, watching you with compassion and smirks of contentment.
"He's like a koala, isn't he?" Wanda whispered delicately, taking in Bucky's beefy physique, gripping to your torso like a baby bear.
Gazing upon the covered brunette with adoration, you began to smooth your fingers over the outer material of your hoodie, placing soft strokes and scratches to the area where his head was underneath.
His breathing began to sound regular and slow - relaxed. Internally cheering, you took it as a sign that he felt comfortable and became more generous with your soothing movements, Bucky's hands now snaked around your waist as he lay consumed in your hoodie.
A few minutes passed, your friends catching your eye with furrowed brows, as Bucky remained still, seemingly rooted to your midsection.
"Buck?"
Soft snores escaped the sergeants lips as you felt his grip on you tighten. He was asleep. The man you love had fallen asleep on your chest, and it was even more adorable than you could have imagined.
"Uhhh, shall I wake him up?" Steve offered, concern lacing his tone.
Your gaze drifted to your Bucky, sleeping soundly against your warm form. For once, it seemed like all his trauma, all his fear, had subsided to be replaced by a reassuring, deep embrace. All because of you.
"No, no." You shook your head and smiled. "He can stay here for a while..."
Suddenly, your oversized hoodie didn't seem like such a joke anymore.

ignored.
| loki x reader | fluff |
anon requested. nobody really listens to them so they just leave and Loki follows them and let’s the reader know that they’re there for them & reader feels like shit because she thinks that no one really listens/cares about her but Loki’s there and holds them and tells them stories
Tumblr media
Nobody listened to you.
You had tried to make yourself heard among the avengers, but you kept getting pushed aside. In meetings, you were talked over. Around the tower, you had been in conversations and interrupted by your colleagues, pulling the other away.
You were one of them, but you felt ignored and overlooked. A single instance may not have bothered you, but this had gone on for weeks now, and you felt isolated from your friends.
You were a newer addition to the team, and you didn’t feel quite like you fit in with them, or at least not yet. You had tried to give it time, but it was difficult, overwhelming, and frustrating.
.
Loki had witnessed you being brushed aside on multiple occasions. He was familiar with the feeling of not fitting in, and how exhausting and isolating it could be.
The two of you were friends, but hadn’t really been close. You were slightly distrustful of the mischievous god, something Thor had convinced you was good judgment. Loki knew how you felt, and he couldn’t blame you, though he still desired to earn your friendship and connect with you.
.
Loki knew you deserved better than the way you were being treated, and he watched your expression fall as Thor once again brushed you off.
You had been in the middle of trying to explain a strategy you felt was best for your upcoming mission. You were smart, and incredibly clever, and Loki felt like they should’ve been paying much better attention to what you had to say.
You were interrupted by Stark, who cut into your conversation and pulled Thor away to talk about the mission, completely disregarding what you had been talking about with the god.
Your hand went to your stomach, trying to settle yourself. You turned and walked from the training room, attempting to conceal the frustrated tears that were threatening to fall.
Loki stood, following you from the training room, all the way to the library, where you had collapsed onto a couch to cry. Loki hesitated for a moment in the doorway, trying not to embarrass you.
You looked up, startled when your name was called. You recognized the voice without having to turn around, deep and sultry with an accent. You immediately tried to stop your tears, sniffling and inhaling stuttered breaths.
“It’s okay. I’m so sorry they don’t listen to you.”
You were shocked to hear the acknowledgement. You’d kept your feelings and hurts bottled, thinking it was all in your head, or you were just overreacting. At the validation from Loki, you started crying again, unable to hold back your emotions.
“Oh,” Loki sat down beside you, laying a hand on your back.
“I didn’t think anyone noticed.”
“I noticed.”
You nodded, letting yourself rest your head against his shoulder. You accepted the comfort Loki gave, smiling as he conjured a blanket around the two of you. Your hands wrapped around his strong bicep, thankful for the comfort from the god.
“Thank you, Loki,” your whisper was hoarse.
“I think you’re clever, and you need to be heard. Don’t cry, darling, you’re wonderful.”
You smiled at him, brushing your tears away with the sleeve of your sweater.
“Do you think so?”
“I’m entirely certain,” Loki promised, brushing a piece of hair from your face.
“You know, nobody listened to me when I first got here. I was brushed off too, similar to you. It just takes time for them to warm up, you must be persistent, I’m afraid,” Loki’s voice was smooth, his deep baritone soothing.
You listened, curled up against his side on the couch. He continued with his story, and you felt better knowing that you weren’t alone in your struggle. You’d completely stopped crying as you giggled at the story of Loki standing on a table in the conference room, demanding Stark listen to him.
“You did that?”
“I did,” he nodded, mirroring your amused smile.
“Thank you, for cheering me up,” you wrapped your arms around his waist.
“My pleasure,” he hugged you, resting his chin on top of your head.
.
You walked into the meeting, Loki falling into step beside you. He lightly squeezed your arm, offering you silent reassurance of his support.
“Any ideas about how to infiltrate the Baron’s manor?” Stark asked, spreading out floor plans on the table for your crew to look at.
“I have an idea,” you spoke.
“I was actually thinking-” Parker started, but Loki immediately interrupted him.
“Y/N was about to share her idea, and I think it’s best if you listen!” his voice was sharp, silencing the chatter in the room.
Stark looked up at you, and you nodded at Loki before explaining your plan, pointing out the fully-thought-out details on the map. For the first time, they actually paid attention to what you were saying, all agreeing it was a solid plan.
“Thank you,” Bucky said, earning a smile.
“Of course.”
.
“Has it been better?” Loki asked, laying on your bed as you stretched and practiced fighting stances in the middle of the floor.
“A lot better. Thank you,” you answered, setting down your weapon and walking over to him, straddling his waist and sitting on his abdomen.
“Don’t thank me. It’s all you,” he smiled, his hands resting on your waist.
You grinned, leaning down and planting a kiss on his lips. His hands traveled under the fabric of your tank top, squeezing your warm hips. You kissed him slowly, indulging in the slow, lazy afternoon makeout session.
“Woah, sorry to interrupt. I was just hoping to get your opinion on this route?” Bucky’s startled voice came from the doorway.
You sat up quickly, slipping off of your annoyed boyfriend.
“Absolutely!” you said, trying to shake the embarrassment.
“Go, I’ll be here,” Loki kissed your cheek.
You followed Bucky, happy to be consulted.

Cold
summary: r has always liked having pyrokinesis, but after getting into trouble, she leans onto natasha for support (i’m sorry that is an awful summary fhjkdsf)
Part Two
pairing: Natasha Romanoff x fem reader
word count: 5k
warnings: swearing, needles, kidnapping, mentions of arson, lmk if i need to add any more!
A/N: this is gonna have multiple parts btw! i’m planning on 3 parts, but it could be more than that haha. also, since i’ve written a lot of pyrokinetic reader x natasha, feel free to imagine this taking place in any of those universes. preferably not the operation fire widow/bring you back universe. nat and r have been through enough there- but i imagine it in the you saved me universe!
You huffed out a sigh as you took in your surroundings. It was completely dark except for the small, irritating light in the corner. There was a pain in your arm, you felt a poke, and assumed it was an IV.
You tried to use your powers to get out of here, you tried to create a light, you tried to burn the ropes holding you to the chair, but nothing worked. Probably a result of the IV.
You were here because of a stupid decision you thought was right at the time.
You were fighting in the middle of the city, HYDRA decided that they wanted to make a scene. Mid-battle, you noticed a HYDRA agent carrying a child who was screaming and thrashing. No one else seemed to notice, they were all busy fighting.
You couldn’t ignore it, you couldn’t let them take a child. So, you made a large blast of fire, hoping that would prevent anyone else from following and attacking you as you went after the kid.
Looking back now, you should’ve at least gone on coms and told the team what you were doing. But you weren’t thinking straight at the moment. You just kept running until you reached them.
It wasn’t like you could send fire at them like you had before; you couldn’t risk hitting the kid.
So there you stood, coming up from behind to knock him down.
As soon as you lay a hand on him however, you let out a gasp of pain as something sharp poked your neck.
As your vision began to fade, you looked down to see the child staring at you with a guilty expression as he held the syringe.
You fell to your knees, hearing nothing but laughter from the man.
That was two days ago. And that was what got you into this situation. You weren’t sure if anyone even saw you go after him, so for all they knew you just disappeared out of the blue.
Guilt began to consume you as you thought about your girlfriend, Natasha.
She knew you were strong and could look out for yourself, but that didn’t stop her from completely freaking out every time you were injured. You could only imagine what was going through her mind now.
-
At the compound, Natasha began pacing back and forth around the living room. Everyone was seated there, wanting to talk about the mission and your disappearance.
“How could none of us have seen her?” She asked, making eye contact with each and every one of her teammates.
“Where could she have gone?”
“Who took her?”
Before she could talk any more, Clint stood up and put his arms around her to stop her from pacing.
“We’re gonna find her, Nat,”
She let out a defeated sigh, collapsing onto her friend.
“I’ve got satellites looking, FRIDAY is hacking into every street camera, we will find her,” Tony assured her, standing up.
She managed to give him a nod before leaving and making her way back up to her bedroom she shared with you.
Once the door closed, she collapsed onto the bed, clinging onto your pillow as tight as she could.
She had spent two nights without you by your side, she had barely gotten any sleep.
She missed the feeling of wrapping her arms around you while you clung onto her like a koala. She missed waking up next to you, placing a few kisses on your forehead.
She just missed you.
Of course, you had spent nights away from each other on missions and stuff. But this time, she had no idea where you were and when she would be waking up with you again. That just made everything worse.
One of the perks of having a pyrokinetic girlfriend was that she was never cold anymore. Sometimes you would hold your hands over hers, using your powers to warm them up. Or sometimes she would cup your cheeks to gather up the heat you were radiating. If she was really cold, you would wrap your arms around you as she would completely bury herself in you. Even after she was warmed up, it would usually just turn into a cuddle session of holding one another close.
She hugged the pillow even tighter, so desperately wishing it was you. She didn’t even realize she was crying until she noticed how wet the pillow was.
Letting out a long sigh, Natasha pulled all the blankets she had gathered over her, flipping the pillow over.
No matter how many blankets she had, none of them were able to give her the warmth you had.
Without you, she was just cold.
-
Another day passed before something finally changed. The lights were turned on, and you were given more water than before, and you were actually given some food.
You noticed the person walking in was the boy you were trying to save, but ended up stabbing you with the needle.
“Hello,” he said, placing the food tray down next to you.
“Hi,” you replied flatly.
As he headed for the door again, he made eye contact. Your heart dropped at how apologetic he looked.
“What’s your name?” You asked.
“Henry,”
“What’s a boy like you doing here, Henry?”
He shrugged before turning back and taking a few steps closer to you.
“It’s just the life of someone who’s dad is big in HYDRA and decided to get full custody after killing your mom,”
Your heart dropped, this boy couldn’t have been more than 10 and he had already lost so much.
“I’m sorry,” you told him.
“Why? It’s not like you killed her,”
You sighed before noticing the sadness in his eyes and the tears threatening to fall.
“Do you want to talk about her?” You offered. He thought for a moment,
“Maybe, but I can’t right now, I have to leave. But I’ll come back tomorrow,”
“Okay, bye Henry.”
“Bye!”
-
As promised, he did arrive the next day. He came in with a smile on his face before setting your food down.
“Hello!”
“Hi,”
You reached out to grab food, but winced as you moved your arm, remembering the needle in your arm. So you reached over with your other hand instead.
“Do you know what the heck they’re putting in me?”
He shakes his head no,
“It takes away your powers, but that’s all I know. I did hear someone say that they plan on changing the needle tomorrow,”
“So what other stuff do you hear?”
“It’s just bits and pieces,”
You let out a sigh as he reached up to grab some of your food. You held your good hand up to stop him.
“Kid, I’m the hostage here. I know you’re getting fed better than me. So unless you plan on giving me some of your food in exchange, hands off,”
Henry sighed, then pulled his hand back and sat down again.
“What’s it like?” He asked after a few moments of silence.
“What’s what like?”
“Everything. Being an Avenger, having powers, fighting people,”
You laughed at his excitement,
“Being an Avenger has its perks, it’s always nice saving the world every once in a while. The powers are nice too. I remember the first time I made fire appear in thin air, it was one of the best feelings in the world. I can make myself really warm, which works out perfect for Nat-” you stopped yourself as you thought about her.
Your face fell, thinking about your girlfriend and how much you missed her.
He turned his head to the side at your expression.
“Why are you sad?” He asked. “Do you miss your powers?”
“Yeah,” you answered quickly. “I just miss my pyrokinesis. Whatever you’ve got in here is really effective,”
“They’re still gonna make you go to sleep tomorrow, in case your powers come back when they change the needle. Why do they change needles anyway?”
“To prevent infections,”
“Oh,”
He sat there criss-crossed, holding his hands in his lap while moving his thumbs around. You noticed that he looked slightly happier today compared to yesterday.
“Who’s your favorite Avenger?” He asked.
“Black Widow,”
“Why? She doesn’t have any powers! She just fights,”
“Exactly. She’s just as important to the team as the rest of us without powers, that just makes her even more impressive. She holds us together, we would be lost without her,”
He gave you a mischievous smile as he observed the way you talked about her.
“Do you have a crush on Black Widow?”
You scoffed at the young boy. There was no way in hell you would be discussing your relationship status with him.
“What about you, Kid? Who’s your favorite Avenger?”
“Spider-Man. He’s so cool how he swings across buildings! And he has super strength!”
You smiled at him. You would most definitely be telling Peter about his young fan.
“He’s pretty cool,”
He smiled for a few moments, before turning back around and facing the door.
“I should probably go,” he said, his voice dropping. “I don’t want him to find out. I’ll come by again after they change the needle!”
“Alright,” you said. You were sad he was leaving, you had been enjoying his company, but you completely understood his worries.
He waved goodbye, then left the room feeling better than he had when he walked in. He would be back soon to talk with his new friend.
-
“I’ve got her!” Tony said as he stood up from his desk. “I know where she is!”
“I’ll get everyone ready,” Steve replied, leaving to make the announcement.
Natasha changed into her suit faster than she ever had before. Now that they knew where you were, she wanted to get to you as fast as they possibly could.
So she was the first to meet Steve and Tony outside the Quinjet.
Her expression was emotionless, but they both knew she had so many thoughts and feelings running through her mind right now.
Wanda was the next one out, taking her spot in between Steve and Natasha. She was almost as nervous as Natasha.
Soon enough, the rest of the Avengers all made their way down and were ready to go.
Clint had to physically restrain Natasha to stop her from pacing mid-flight. He knew she was scared, but what she was doing wasn’t helping.
She made eye contact with Wanda, then felt a few tears threatening to form. She took a deep breath in, then restrained her tears.
She finally let out the breath as she felt her best friend hug her.
It would be okay eventually, but for now all that mattered was getting you back.
-
“What’s that noise?” You asked, jerking up.
“I’m not sure,” Henry said, looking up too.
As soon as the others left your room, he ran in and stayed by your side until you woke up. He was hoping for another day of fun conversations, but he had a feeling that wouldn’t be happening now.
“You should get out of here, don’t let them catch you like this,”
He thought for a moment, then looked back out the door. An alarm went off, and he recognized the signal it was sending.
“Your friends are here for you,”
You let out a sigh of relief.
“Do me a favor and pull the needle out? It’ll be better to have it out sooner now that they’re here,”
He hesitantly held his hand over the needle, his breath hitched as soon as he touched your arm.
“You can do it, Henry. Just pull it out as fast as you can,”
His breaths became shaky as he grabbed the tip of the needle.
“I’ll count down for you,” you said as he nodded. “One… two… three!”
Just as he pulled it out, he let out a scream at the sound of a gunshot from right outside the room.
The door opened, and there stood Natasha.
She no longer had the glow in her eyes, or the softness on her face she normally had around you. In fact, you would be terrified of her if she wasn’t here to save you.
Your face fell as you saw she still had her gun raised.
“Don’t hurt him!” You yelled, holding your hand out protectively over him.
She said nothing, but walked over to you, wrapping her arms around you while holding you up.
She brought a hand to your cheek, stroking it gently for a moment while keeping her other arm around your back.
You leaned forward, then rested your forehead against hers as she held you.
“Uh, guys,” Henry interrupted your moment. “You should probably get out of here,”
You nodded, then looked out the door Natasha came from.
“I’ll buy you some time!” He offered.
You thought for a minute, your gaze shifting between him and Natasha.
“I’ll come back for you,” you told him. “Be careful!”
“Don’t worry about me! Just go!”
You nodded, then completely leaned onto Natasha. Your arm was still sore, and your legs could barely hold you considering you had hardly moved them for a few days.
Luckily for you, your assassin girlfriend was really strong and had no problem picking you up and carrying you as you wrapped yourself around her.
She was easily able to run through the halls, holding you with one hand and holding her gun with the other.
You buried your face in her neck, wanting to hide from everything going on around you. She heard you whimper, then tightened her grip on you.
It felt like it had taken forever, but eventually you were outside again. You finally opened your eyes when you heard the familiar sound of the Quinjet engine.
Natasha never left your side, keeping an arm wrapped around you as she set you down.
It had only taken a few minutes for everyone else to get back after Natasha told them she had you, taking out a few HYDRA agents along the way.
Steve’s gaze softened when he saw the state you were in. He was about to say something before Natasha met him with a harsh glare. You needed to rest after what just happened.
“It’s okay, baby,” she whispered to you, finally letting her softness return. “You can rest now. You’re okay.”
-
When you opened your eyes again, you were in a hospital bed back at the compound. Natasha sat in the chair next to you, one hand over yours while the other was holding her head up as she slept.
On the other side, Bruce and Dr. Cho were talking to each other about your condition.
“Y/N,” Dr. Cho said as she met your eyes.
Her voice woke Natasha up, who immediately gave your hand a gentle squeeze.
You turned to face your girlfriend, extending both arms out to her.
“Lay with me,”
Natasha looked at the two doctors, as if asking for permission. Once they told her it was fine, she pulled the sheets down and crawled next to you. She began to completely drown their voices out as she ran her fingers up and down your arm, drawing small patterns on your shoulder. Ever so often, she would lean forward and plant a kiss on the back of your neck.
“How long was I out?” You asked.
“Almost 24 hours. The stress of the situation, plus what they were putting in you definitely called for rest.”
“So, am I gonna be okay?”
“Yes,” Bruce said. “However, we’re looking into what they were injecting you with. It definitely had to do with your powers, so it’s best if you don’t use them for a few days.”
You nodded, then turned back around to face Natasha.
“You’re cold,” she said as you wrapped your arms around her. “That’s a first,”
“Don’t worry,” Bruce assured both of you. “You’ll be warm and pyrokinetic again in no time.”
Later that evening, you were on Natasha’s lap with a blanket covering both of you. She hadn’t left your side the entire day, apart from when you needed to use the bathroom. Even then, she stood right outside the door waiting for you to come back out.
“Natty,” you said to her. She removed her lips from your neck, then planted a kiss on your cheek instead. She hummed, waiting for your response as she continued littering kisses all over your face.
“I don’t want to go back there,”
“You don’t have to. You never do,”
“Yes I do. I promised Henry I would come back for him.”
“The same boy who shoved a syringe in your neck?” She said, eyebrows raised. “Tony was able to get footage,”
You sighed as she kissed your neck once again.
“It’s a lot more complicated than that,” you began. “He told me all about how his dad is a big part of HYDRA, and he killed his mom.”
“Y/N, I love you, but you have to know that there’s a high chance he was lying about all that.”
“Then why would he tell us that he’d buy us time when he left?”
“Probably just saying whatever it took for me not to kill him. It’s awful, but he was probably recruited at such a young age so they use that to their advantage.”
“Oh come on, Natty,” you said. You turned around and straddled her waist so you could face her. “Shouldn’t you have more sympathy for him? Especially considering where you were at his age,”
She thought for a moment, then pulled the blanket up closer.
“Maybe I’m a little biased because he’s part of the reason you were taken,”
You sighed, then leaned forward and rested your head on her chest. You’d get through to her eventually, but for now all you wanted to do was lay in her arms.
-
You huffed out a sigh as you pushed all the blankets off of you. That was something you definitely hadn’t gotten used to, and you couldn’t wait to take them all off the bed.
Natasha chuckled at your frustration, then sat up and smiled at you.
“Good morning, detka,”
You grumbled again, but couldn’t help but smile at the way your girlfriend was looking at you.
“It’s been three days of this shit,” you said as you sat up. “As soon as we go to Bruce today and get cleared, I will burn some of these. God, you have no idea how much I’ve missed setting things on fire,”
She laughed, then tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
“So my sweet little girlfriend just wants to go commit arson? Tell me again why you’re an Avenger?”
“You know what I meant!”
She laughed again, which prompted you to throw a pillow at her.
“You’re gonna regret that, detka,”
“Will I?”
She stared at you for a few moments, a mischievous smile on her face as you smirked at her.
You let out a squeal as she suddenly pounced at you, knocking you back down. She placed several kisses on your face, but her hands also found their way under your shirt and onto your stomach.
You let out another squeal as she began ticking you, moving her hands up and down as you began to let out uncontrollable laughter.
“Natty, stop!” You begged between giggles.
She stopped for a moment, still smiling at you.
“Are you gonna throw a pillow at me again?”
You hesitated for a moment, and that was enough for her to move her hands again.
You nearly screamed as she continued tickling you. This only made her smile more.
“How about now?” She asked. “Will you throw a pillow at me again?”
“No! I promise!”
She seemed satisfied, then removed her hands from your body as she gave your forehead a quick kiss.
“Let’s go get ready for your checkup,” she said, then smiled again. “And then my baby can get back her ability to commit arson with her mind,”
You rolled your eyes, but followed her out of bed.
After getting changed, you held her hand as you made your way back to medical. You couldn’t help but feel nervous and anxious the entire walk there.
Bruce was waiting for you as you sat on the exam table. Natasha stayed standing, but kept her hand attached to yours.
“We’re gonna need to take a blood sample,” he told you.
You nodded, but squeezed Natasha’s hand tighter. You had always hated needles, and your previous experience definitely didn’t help.
As he inserted the needle in your arm, you closed your eyes and kept your tight hold on your girlfriend’s hand.
She hated seeing you like this. She hated that you even had to go through this in the first place.
Her hand was beginning to hurt from the amount of force you were squeezing her, but she didn’t flinch at all. She just kept her eyes on you, making sure you were okay as Bruce got the blood sample he needed.
When he took the needle out and put a bandage on your arm, you finally opened your eyes again.
You didn’t even realize you had tears in your eyes until you saw how blurry your vision was. You tried to blink the tears away before anyone would notice, but you were too late.
Natasha gave you a solemn look before bringing her other hand up to your face. She used her thumb to wipe the tears away, keeping her other hand attached to your own.
She then sat next to you on the table, and wrapped an arm around you as you leaned into her. She reached her hand behind you, then gently stroked your hair as she held you close.
“So will I get to use my powers again?” You asked Bruce.
“We’ll find out in about five minutes,”
You nodded, then leaned further into your girlfriend.
“How’s your arm feeling?” She asked as she continued stroking your hair.
“Hurts,” you admitted with a light laugh. “Not too bad though, not as bad as the HYDRA needle. God that one burned.”
You looked up at her, then nuzzled your head in the space between her neck and shoulder.
“I can’t wait to be your personal human heater again,” you told her.
She smiled, kissing the top of your head.
“I’ve just been glad to have you back, detka, but I’m also looking forward to being warmed up by you,”
Bruce smiled at the two of you, but his face fell as the results appeared on the computer.
“There’s still traces of what they put in your bloodstream,” he said. “Until it’s gone, you won’t be able to use your powers. I’m sorry, Y/N. We can check it again next week,”
Your heart dropped. You held your hands in your lap, looking down at them. You thought about all the times you made flames appear just from your palms. Now, you weren’t sure when you’d be able to do it again.
Natasha met your eyes, a neutral expression on her face. She was also sad about your powers, but she didn’t want to bring your spirits down even more. So, she interlaced her fingers with yours.
“Okay, so maybe a few more nights with blankets,” she said softly. “Then I get my favorite blanket back,”
You sighed, then stood up, keeping your fingers interlaced with hers.
You thanked Bruce, then walked out and went to the kitchen.
One of the perks of having pyrokinesis was that it made cooking easier. Sometimes you would just heat up the food in your hand, or hold the pan until everything cooked. It took awhile to figure out how to get it right, resulting in accidentally setting the fire alarm off multiple times as you burned food to a crisp. But eventually you were able to get your powers to work as your own oven and microwave.
Now that you couldn’t do that, you chose cereal instead. As you swallowed your first bite, you shivered as the cold milk went down your throat.
“I hate being cold,” you grumbled as you wrapped your arms around yourself.
Natasha smiled sadly, then brought your non-dominant hand to her mouth as you kept eating. She placed lengthy, but soft kisses on the back of it.
“I can keep you warm now,”
You smiled at the gesture, then let out a small chuckle.
“Natty, I love you, but we both know you’re way too cold on your own to warm someone up,”
She rolled her eyes.
“I could totally warm you up,”
“Please, you’re literally an iceberg. Why do you think we go so well together?”
She laughed, then kissed your hand again.
“Well right now we’re both icebergs. I think we can keep each other warm if we stay close, y’know, sharing body heat,”
You sighed, then leaned forward before kissing her.
You intended for it to be a quick, short kiss. But she had other plans.
She ran her tongue along your bottom lip, grinning as you allowed her entrance. Once you did, she grabbed your hips and pulled you onto her lap.
“See?” She said with a grin. “You’re warmer already,”
“You’re right,” you said, cupping her cheeks. “We should keep each other warm more often,”
She smiled, then kissed you again. You deepened the kiss this time, keeping one hand on her cheek and wrapped the other around her neck.
“That cereal is pretty good,” she said between kisses.
You laughed, then reconnected your lips. You stayed in her embrace, kissing her, for what was far too short in your opinion. You only stopped when you heard someone clear their throat from behind you.
You turned around to see Clint getting his own food.
“So what’s the news on your powers?” He asked. “Do we need to have fire extinguishers at the ready?”
Natasha glared at her friend, tightening her grip on you. He got his answer as soon as he saw her glare and noticed the way your face dropped.
“I’m sorry,” he said. He was going to say something else, but decided not to as Natasha kept her glare. So he waved a short goodbye, then left.
“Can we just go back to our room?” You asked.
“Of course,”
After putting your bowl away, you followed your girlfriend back upstairs, fully intending on staying in bed all day.
You glared at the blankets, but reluctantly pulled them over you.
You felt a little better once Natasha pulled you into her arms once again. You leaned back into her, holding onto her hands that lay around you.
“I love you,”
“I love you too,”
“I’m going to get my powers back,”
“Just focus on resting up for now, okay, detka?”
“Okay.”
-
A week later, you woke up ready to see Bruce again. You had been counting down the days, desperate to get your powers back.
Natasha gave a hesitant smile as you greeted her with a good morning kiss. She wanted you to get your powers back too, but she didn’t want you to be let down after your hopes had been so high.
Of course, she did miss using you as a personal heater. But even more than that, she missed seeing the smile on your face as you would control the flames emitting from you. She missed the satisfied smirk you would give whenever you knocked down someone you were fighting with fire. She missed how you would squeal excitedly after your powers helped you successfully cook something.
You were practically bouncing in your steps as you walked down to Bruce. While you dreaded the needle from the blood sample, you tried not to focus on that. Instead, you focused on how amazing it would feel to make fire again.
You still held on tight to your girlfriend’s hand as the needle pricked your skin. She ran her thumb over the back of your hand as you let out a small whimper.
Everyone in the room seemed to be holding their breath as the computer analyzed your blood.
Natasha was almost as nervous as you. Her breath hitched when Bruce said the results were coming in.
His eyes lit up as he read them.
“Your bloodstream is clean, Y/N,”
You smiled, then hugged Natasha out of happiness.
He smiled at you, then you thanked him, still bouncing in your step.
“Alright, let’s go outside. I want this flame to be good,”
Natasha nodded, keeping her hand connected to yours as you led her out. Bruce decided to follow, just in case there was something he missed.
Your smile grew even wider as you stood in front of the compound.
Taking a deep breath, you gave both yourself and your girlfriend a reassuring nod.
You took a step away, then flicked your wrist.
Nothing.
“What the fuck?”
You flicked it again. Still nothing.
Again. Nothing.
You flicked your other wrist, desperate to see the smoke rising from your palm. Once again, nothing.
“No,” you said, dropping to your knees. “Why don’t I have my powers?”
Natasha was by your side in a split second, putting an arm on your shoulder.
“I thought you said my bloodstream was clean!” You said to Bruce, feeling tears swell in your eyes.
“It is,” he said softly. “I’m so sorry, Y/N, but if you still don’t have your powers even after it’s out of your system, then that means whatever they did to you took your powers. Unless there’s an antidote, they’re not coming back,”
You let out a sob, completely wrapping yourself around Natasha. Bruce took that as his cue to leave, walking back inside as you continued crying in your girlfriend’s arms.
“What do I do, Natty?” You said, your voice breaking.
Her heart broke for you. She said nothing, but kept her hold.
“These powers, these abilities, controlling fire has been a part of me for such a long time,” you said as a few more tears fell. “And now… I’m just cold.”

Call Me Back
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x reader
Warnings: death, a small sexual innuendo, and lots of commas and long sentences
Word Count: 3.4k
Summary: You and Wanda promised each other you would always call to check in, and Wanda’s going to do her best to keep that promise, no matter what.
The first time you met Wanda was… well, when was the first time you met Wanda? Was it when wisps of red flashed in front of your eyes, projecting images so horrific and lifelike that you all but collapsed in a heartbeat? Or was it when she stepped forward to shake your hand timidly, grief and determination filling the witch as she promised to make up for it?
“I- I wouldn’t have done it if I… we were just trying…”
“Don’t worry about it,” you had told her with a smile before confiding in her about your own missteps, how you’d wreaked havoc on all of New York with your powers of body modification after your own parents died, how Fury finally got the Avengers to catch you, and how they quickly became your new family.
-
“You mean they really almost burned the kitchen down trying to make you a birthday cake?” The brunette giggled later that night as you recounted the story of your sixteenth birthday, the two of you sitting comfortably beside each other on the living room sofa.
“Yup. And when Nat showed up with an ice cream cake fifteen minutes later to find smoke in the living room, Sam told me she freaked on everyone.”
“Excuse me, Y/N, I did not do any ‘freaking.’ God, is that what you teenagers are calling it now?” The two of you erupted into laughter, and the redhead could do nothing more than shake her head, a smirk playing on her lips no matter how hard she tried to conceal it.
---
Much like Nat and Steve predicted, the two of you became fast friends. You sat next to each other on movie nights, sang karaoke in your room when you thought everyone else was asleep (if they weren’t awake when you started, they certainly were once you were thirty seconds into Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”), and, much to Steve’s dismay, when you finally became confident with your ability to grow wings on your back, snuck out regularly for late-night flights around the compound.
But you also insisted on being there for Wanda’s training sessions, even if it meant you had to wake up an hour earlier. You cradled the witch in your arms when she woke up night after night with an aching hole in her heart before you eventually insisted you guys just share a room. And you promised her, above everything else, that when you went out for anything, whether it be a quick grocery run or a month-long mission, you’d let her know you were okay.
You knew the promise she pleaded you to make was a result of the anxiety she suffered. She’d lost everyone she cared about; if a simple text or call was enough to put her at ease, you’d do it in a heartbeat.
---
“Wanda,” you’d whispered, the teen immediately sitting up straight when she’d heard the cracks in your voice. “I- I don’t know what to do. I’m safe, but...” She told you to stay there, don’t move, she’d be there in minutes. And, with your brain unable to function enough to think of any other option, you listened.
Her heart broke at the sight of you, your arms wrapped tightly around yourself and your head hung, you feet occasionally kicking the wet sidewalk. The neon sign of the restaurant your date had promised to meet you at illuminated one side of your face, allowing her to see the tears that you had tried but failed so desperately to hold in. But the witch didn’t let you see her emotions, instead whisking you away from the unfamiliar section of the city, brushing the tears off of your cheeks and bringing you to the twenty-four-hour diner for milkshakes. She made a fool of herself in front of the waitstaff until tears flowed from your eyes once again, but this time, the crystalline drops rolled down your raised cheeks, aching from smiling too hard.
-
When you had a panic attack during training because you couldn’t get one of your body modification attempts to reverse—”Wanda, I cannot be stuck with claws for hands, I can’t!”—she refused to let you hang up until the steady sounds of her own breathing calmed you down, the sharp nails receding and making way for the soft pads of your very human fingertips.
-
And when she called you after the mission in Lagos, you worked tirelessly to complete your own solo mission as soon as you could. You returned to the tower to find her holed up in the bedroom, news broadcasts playing nonstop on the television to remind her of the horrors she’d committed; accident or not, she told you, she needed to hold herself accountable. You simply shook your head at her, holding out your hand without another word. She didn’t take it at first.
“You can’t fix it, Y/N. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have called you.” She was expecting you to fight her back on it, yell at her and demand that she take your hand, or perhaps you’d go the complete opposite direction and leave her alone, let her be swallowed by guilt and anguish, rip open old wounds and form new ones as she thought of how she tore apart families that were probably much like her own. You did neither.
Wanda’s green eyes remained fixed on your outstretched hand. You stayed silent, one eyebrow cocked as if daring her to see what would happen should she choose not to take it. It was only then that she realized, for once in her life, the person she most loved wasn’t leaving; the support she so desperately needed wouldn’t be yanked away from her when it was mere centimeters from her grasp.
So she rested her fingers in the palm of your hand, and you pulled her out to the balcony where the two of you had spent night after night watching the stars instead of sleeping, making up funny names for each of them and rolling in fits of laughter that only came to those delirious and sleep-deprived enough to understand just what was so funny. Except, this time, instead of dropping into the oversized beanbag chair that was the usual spot of your stargazing shenanigans, she watched curiously as you removed your shirt. Her mouth dropped as you closed your eyes and allowed the white feathers to emerge from beside the ridges of your spine. Although it was a process she’d seen several times before, your modifications had never ceased to amaze her, and your angel-like wings had always been her favorite. The witch admired the additions as you allowed them to flap slowly, once, twice, before turning back to her.
Let’s go,” you finally spoke, the order gentle but leaving no room for negotiation.
“Where are we going?”
“Away.” That was enough for the brunette, who squeezed your hand before following your lead. She allowed you to guide her through the maze of clouds and couldn’t help but smile softly as the sun’s rays hit your face at just the right angle. You wore the exhaustion from your recent mission on your face, and streaks of dirt covered the bruises that she was sure littered your body. But she was content, in awe, because you were you. You didn’t put up walls to hide your scars from the world, didn’t use passive-aggressiveness to hide the passion that burned in your heart. At the end of the day, you were good, purely and truly good. You were an angel; even the sun knew it.
What Wanda didn’t realize, but what you taught her that night, as she sat surrounded by sunflowers, the moon, thousands of gleaming stars, and the tickle of your feathers as your wing pulled her close to you, was that she was one too.
“I’m glad you called me,” you whispered, your eyes not leaving the open sky as you pointed out a particularly bright spot. “I’m gonna call that one… Philip. He looks regal, real proud. Look at him, so much brighter than the others, and he knows it too.” The witch breathed out a soft chuckle, stroking her fingers over your feathers as she responded.
“I’m glad I called you too. And I think Philip is a good name for him. What about that one?”
“Hmm… Walter? He’s a bit more serious, I think. But you see the one next to him?” You waited until you got a nod from the girl before continuing. “That’s his sister. She makes sure he has fun, even when he says he doesn’t want to. But you name her, Wands. Naming stars is a two-person job, you know.” She squeezed the elbow that you nudged her with before giving in.
“Alright… that’s Delia. And, yeah, she’s the best. The life of the party. Walter keeps her grounded, though,” Wanda added, to which you agreed to with a hum. You two fell quiet after that, enjoying the comfortable silence and looking up at the twinkling lights, some of them gaining names and stories, others waiting to be named another night.
“Wanda?”
“Yeah?”
“You call me if you ever need me, okay? I know we started this with me calling you, but I’m here for you too.” The witch met your eyes with a firm bob of her head, but you continued, desperate to make sure she understood. “And if I don’t pick up at first, you call me back, okay? Call me until I respond, promise?”
“I promise,” Wanda soothed gently. “I will.”
“Okay, good, good. Because,” Wanda felt a brush of your feathers against her upper arm as you fluttered your wings, slightly agitated, “because I think I love you. I mean, um, I know. I know I love you. I love you. Yeah, I-” Wanda shut you up with a kiss, her lips pressed urgently against yours. And if you hadn’t lost your breath from your rambling or your declaration of love to the girl of your dreams, then you most definitely lost it as your lips melted into hers, in the comforting warmth of her palm against your cheek, and in the words that left her mouth as you finally pulled apart, breathless.
“I will, Y/N, I promise. Because I love you too.”
---
People thought you were inseparable before you started dating, but they all realized how wrong they were after that night. The two twin beds quickly became a queen-sized mattress, sideline support during training sessions became fierce yet playful spars, and the private giggles you guys shared grew tenfold. Fury wasn’t exactly happy that his unofficial daughter was now dating, but he was pleased by how efficiently the two of you worked together, which led you to this moment, the two of you covering the Quinjet while waiting for the rest of the Avengers to finish their business inside the massive Hydra base. With Wanda covering the ground and you in the sky, flying with the white-feathered wings that Wanda loved so dearly, the two of you held off the swarms of Hydra agents relatively well. With a small break in between incoming agents, Wanda looked up to check on you, but she was a moment too late. Before she could even think to warn you, the pure feathers she loved to brush her fingers through fell from the sky, the white stained with red, your screams ripping through her eardrums.
No one, including Wanda, had time to think as she exploded with a new rage, one that hadn’t run through her in years. One that she hoped she would never experience again, but here she was. And there you were.
While you were held in the air by her signature red mist, the opposing agents fell to the ground. She didn’t care about their screams, only yours. And with them all dealt with, she could turn to you, rushing you both into the Quinjet and yelling for the other Avengers to get back here, now.
But her efforts were futile. She could press down on the wounds all she wanted, beg for you to come back until her voice was nothing more than a whisper, but nothing would work. You were gone the instant the missile had hit you, and as much as Wanda wanted to deny the truth, she knew it just as much as your other teammates did when they rushed onto the Quinjet. You were gone before you could say a single goodbye.
---
The first time Wanda called was from your shared bedroom. She dialed your number before tracing the pillow where your head would have laid, running her fingers over the cartoon carrots that covered the comforter. The yellow bedding set was a gag gift Tony had gotten the two of you when you got your new bed.
“You know, since I figure the two of you will be going at it like rabbits,” he winked before getting immediately smacked in the back of the head by Steve.
“They will be doing no such thing,” the supersoldier had chastised him with a roll of his eyes. “God, Stark, sometimes I forget you have a brain when you say such stupid things.”
But you loved it, telling Wanda, “The carrots remind me of you, Bunny.” And how could she return the present when you were being so sweet about it? But the sheets didn’t make her smile in the same way they once did because you were gone. No one was there to tease her about the way her nose wiggled much like the little white fluffy creatures or promise to get her carrots from the market the next day.
The call went to voicemail, and as bittersweet as it was, Wanda savored it because it was you. Your voice. But the beep came far too soon, and your turn was done. So she spoke.
“Y/N, hey, it’s me, Wanda. I, um, I love you. I’ll always love you, yeah?” The witch put the phone down, thinking that was all she could bear to say as the lump in her throat ballooned in size and hot tears filled her eyes. But just before time was up, her hand shot up to press the device against her ear again. “Call me back, milaya.”
---
The second time Wanda called was from the balcony. The brunette eyed the sparkling diamonds that filled the sky, wondering how you could be gone when, the last time she was here, you were right there beside her, laughing over the boys’ latest shenanigans and Ned, the newly named star.
Now, the beanbag chair felt too big, too empty without another person sitting next to her. Without you. So she dialed your number, the only number she bothered to learn by heart, and waited for the dulcet tones of your voice. As the dial tone rang, she ran one hand over the white feather that laid gingerly in her lap. Natasha had given it to her along with several others a few days after your death. Each of the team members had one to remember you by, but the spy had picked out the biggest and most brilliant ones to give to Wanda.
“I know how much her wings meant to you-” Natasha stiffened as Wanda threw her arms around her. But the witch didn’t care, her tears soaking the redhead’s shirt as she tried to find the words to thank her. She couldn’t, but it was okay. Natasha knew anyway. Wanda had little time to reflect on the memory before her face brightened at the sound of your voice.
“Hi, this is Y/N-
“And her girlfriend, Wanda! She’s taken, so don’t even think about it, you jerk!” Wanda smiled slightly at your jubilant laughter, remembering how you’d pushed her away for interrupting you.
“I’m not available right now, but leave me your name, number, and message and I’ll call you back as soon as I can, okay? Talk to you soon.” The witch’s eyes closed slightly as the greeting ended with a spell of your giggles before it was interrupted by that damn beep. God, how she hated that beep. Nevertheless, she took a breath and spoke out into the clear night sky, looking up at the stars as she did so.
“Hi, lyubov moya, it’s me. Wanda. I’m calling you back, just like you told me to. I’m not okay. I need you. I love you.” Her breath caught in her throat, forcing her to pause for a moment, but she forced herself to keep going a second later. “Sam and Bucky did the stupidest thing today. Nat and Steve were all over their asses. You should’ve seen it. I miss you. Please, call me back. I’ll tell you all about it.”
---
The last time Wanda called was from the sunflower field. The two of you hadn’t been here since the night you told her you loved her. In fact, it took Wanda several hours to find it since she hadn’t been paying much attention to the route the first time you came.
Once again, the night was clear, the stars lighting up the dark canvas with their radiance. She missed the feeling of your wing wrapped around her, of your presence next to her. But she had one of your feathers in her fingers and your voice in her ear, and to ask for more would be greedy, right?
“Hi, angel. It’s Wanda. I’m calling you back to leave a message, but I can’t do it again after this because I don’t want your voicemail to fill up, okay? I’m sorry, I know I’m being selfish, but I need to be able to hear your voice, so I can’t let it fill up. But I haven’t forgotten you, I promise I haven’t. I never will. I’m still-” Wanda swallowed, a fighting effort to calm the waver in her voice. “I’m still not okay, but I’m trying. For you. But I’m not okay, I need you to call me back. I’ve named one up there Halia, but her twin sister needs a name. And naming stars is a two-person job, you know.” The witch sniffed once as the corner of her lip curved up slightly, remembering the playfulness in your voice when you’d first said the line. “Call me back, Y/N, please.”
With the message over, Wanda clutched the phone to her chest, her breaths becoming faster and shallower as she closed her eyes, trying to accept the knowledge that it’d be the last time she’d ever leave a message, the knowledge that she was really losing you… the knowledge that she already lost you.
---
Months went by. Wanda wasn’t sure how they did, but they did. The first sign of it was the first Halloween without you, as she saw the other couples dressing up in matching costumes that you would’ve loved, costumes you would’ve pointed out to Wanda with an excited bounce and told her you’d have to wear next year. The next was Thanksgiving, when Wanda ran through the list of everything she was thankful for and came up short when she thought about the people she still had left. And then it was Christmas, and Valentine’s Day, and the first day of summer.
And while Wanda did her best to move on, she always found herself under the stars, dialing your number. She sat on the balcony, in the sunflower field, wherever she could see the sky, and she listened to your voice telling her that you’d call her back as soon as you could, always forcing herself to hang up a second before the beep could cut you off. Wanda named every other star she saw, leaving the ones in between for you and hoping that you’d approve of the names she chose.
“I’m naming that one Angel for you, Y/N,” Wanda murmured. “It’s even brighter than Philip. It’s the brightest star in the sky. I know you think it’s silly to name things after people, but this one’s just special, so you’re gonna have to make an exception, okay?” The brunette’s lips stopped moving, but her eyes stayed wide open as she watched the star as if, if she watched it long enough, studied it hard enough, you would materialize from its luminescence. As if you would come back to her. But when you didn’t, she finally allowed her watering eyes to rest, her eyelids drooping to surround her in darkness.
“I’m not okay, Y/N.” The witch’s voice was softer than it had ever been, more tired. But this time, there was no one to whisk her off and make her forget the heaviness of it all. “I need you so badly. I love you so much. I always will. But, please, angel, call me back.”

A/N: Heyho there my lovelies! I’m finally back! I missed posting so much! This Imagine is based on a TikTok I found and what can I say? It inspired me! After this, next up, will be the 20k Special! Enjoy everyone!
Words: 3205 Warnings: colour-blindness
“What if I never find him?” You murmured, glancing at the fruit bowl with a saddened expression. Yellow bananas, green grapes, red apples. To you, they were all different shades of grey. Dull and boring, like you had been sucked into a 30s black-and-white film. Only you didn’t get a cheesy romance out of it.
You had been born with what doctors today would call a ‘remarkably rare, complicated and fascinating condition’, for you had lost all of your colour vision at the age of twelve. You still remembered what the world had looked like before—bright, rich, intense—then someone flicked a switch overnight and all you could still see was grey, grey, grey and greyer. The colours would only ever come back to you once you found the love of your life—your soulmate.
A sigh escaped your lips. Only a few people still existed with this… defect and to make things worse, you had had no idea you were one of them. Not until your twelfth birthday. Society admired and pitied you all the same and yet, being a hopeless romantic, at the end of the day, you longed to finally fall in love.
Tony chuckled. “Heads up. You’re too young to worry about settling down anyway.” He responded cheerfully and pointed at you with a screwdriver in hand. He had been trying to fix the dishwasher for a solid twenty minutes now and for a man who had built himself a pretty much indestructible suit that could fly, it was utterly amusing he couldn’t figure out why it had stopped working.
You were not an Avenger, mind you. The sole reason you were, as of right now, in the Avengers’ kitchen munching on grey chocolate chips was that your best friend, who in turn was friends with Clint’s wife, had managed to flood your shared flat over the weekend. It was utterly inhabitable now and it would take quite a while for the landlord to get it all dried up again—and since insurance would not cover the cost for staying in a hotel, for the time being, Clint’s wife had suggested you’d stay with them—right until Tony Stark had shown up and you had graciously offered you’d come hang out at the Avengers Tower. Okay, technically you had begged him but either way and needless to say, you had jumped at the opportunity and somehow even hoped that you would learn some dirty superhero secrets—but so far, nothing. Nothing but what superheroes did when they were not out and about saving the world. Truth be told, seeing Thor in Hello Kitty pyjamas and witnessing Natasha Romanoff of all people scream watching an Asian horror film had its perks but you had somehow expected for them to be called in for an urgent mission where they required a skill only you had and then they would rely on your help and you would fight and become an Avenger and… your fanfiction had always sounded too good to be true.
“Are you still there? How is that fruit bowl so interesting?” Snapping yourself out of your thoughts, you blinked.
“Sorry. What were you saying?”
“I was saying that…”
“Tony?” It was Bruce who interrupted you two, peeking his head into the kitchen almost timidly. You waved at him and he nodded, yet he failed to reciprocate your smile. Uh-Oh.
“Did something happen?”
The scientist nodded. “You might wanna put on your suit.”
“What happened?”
Bruce pursed his lips. “We’ve located Loki.”
-
Your eyes were still widened by the time you rushed after Tony even after he had told you explicitly (three times, to be exact) to stay put and hide until he had been put in custody.
The Loki. God of Mischief, Thor’s brother, Frost Giant, the I-tried-to-take-over-the-planet-guy. It was exciting, somehow, meeting a villain and oh, would it fuel you for your fan fiction. You almost bumped straight into Thor when they all came to a halt all of a sudden, his body a wall of flesh and muscle and making you grunt in pain—you might as well have hit a brick wall. With his hammer in hand, he ensured no one would approach his dangerous brother closely enough for him to try anything funky.
But the fact that Loki was even more handsome in person and the first villain you ever saw in person when he turned around the corner with a proud and arrogant expression on his face despite his shackles, was not what startled you to the core.
All of a sudden, there were colours. Everywhere.
Your lips parted, the impact of all the pigmentation around you making you dizzy. Loki’s armour was black, his cape was green, his eyes were blue, and his hair reminded you of the plumage of a raven. And your surroundings... The compound was silver now, the sceptre they had taken from him golden. Nauseous, you held on to Thor’s muscly arm for support. The God of Thunder frowned in concern. His eyes were blue too, his hair blonde, his cape red… too… many… colours. You suppressed a gag, overwhelmed by the sudden return of your colour vision.
“Are you okay?” Thor asked.
“G-guys… I can see colours.”
Every single head in the room, including Loki’s, turned in your direction so fast you flinched. Tony’s face was the first to fall in response.
“You are joking, right?”
Mutely, you shook your head. Your eyes locked with Loki’s, electricity rippling through you when they did. His blue irises froze you from the inside out, like each and every one of your limbs failed to resist the magnetic pull you felt towards him, and your cells longed for you to throw yourself into his arms—despite the fact he was handcuffed... and for a good reason too. Swallowing thickly, you forced yourself to look away.
Loki was your soulmate. That was impossible; and quite frankly, the god in question appeared to be thinking the exact same thing.
You chewed on your lower lip, anything to distract yourself from your predicament all the while everyone was still staring at you like you had grown two more heads.
“Take him to the cells, I’ll stay with her.” Clint’s hand on your shoulder did little to console you. Part of you still barely resisted the urge to start at Loki like a succubus, the other… the other was terrified and meant to hide in the archer’s embrace.
You could feel Loki’s blue gaze still resting on you when he led you away from the scene, staring daggers into your back and rendering you speechless until you were finally out of sight and Clint shook your shoulder gently.
“Are you sure it’s not one of the security guards that helped bring him in?”
“No… no, I saw them first. Loki was behind them. It’s… I don’t know how to explain it but somehow, Loki was in colour first, you know what I mean? First him and then, a split second later, everything else was colourful too.”
“And now?”
“Now what?”
“Do you still see in colour now?”
“Of course I do.” Clint sighed and buried his face in his hands.
“So what happens if you don’t… act on this soulmate thing?”
“Nothing. Nothing happens.” You said.
“So you don’t have to… stay close to Loki or anything?”
“No. Not that I know of. But Clint—“
“Good. Because he might find a way to use you against us. Stay away from him. Thor’ll take him back to Asgard soon enough. All we need to do first is find the Tesseract.”
Your lips were pursed when he turned to check on them and if Loki was wreaking havoc while they were trying to get him imprisoned.
Stay away from him? Of course… it was the most reasonable thing to do. Loki was dangerous, a criminal… but was that right? Now that you had found your soulmate in him?
-
You couldn’t get him out of your head that night. Screw the danger, you had to see him. And eventually, your curiosity and that inexplicable and strange pull you felt towards Loki got the better of you. With a deep breath, you threw your covers back and let your bare feet hit the cold floor before quietly tiptoeing out into the dark and empty hallway.
Your blood was rushing in your ears, making you hear things your paranoia and imagination cooked up to the point your heart was pounding in your chest so hard and fast you feared it might jump right out of your ribcage. No one could know, of course. Clint would positively kill you—he, along with Tony, somewhat considered himself responsible for you here. You couldn’t really blame them. If something happened to you, they’d never forgive themselves. You were an innocent civilian, after all.
And now you had been tossed into the greatest fanfiction yet. Shivering, for the cold slowly crept into your bare skin and through the tanktop and shorts you were wearing to sleep, you finally reached the corridor leading to the elevator. The prison cells, a rather new addition to Stark Tower, were located at the very bottom, the cellar, or… what you preferred to call it, a modern dungeon.
You found Loki with his back turned to you in his cell, looking pale through the glass pane. Your heart skipped a beat when he suddenly spoke up.
“I expected you would find a way to come and see me at some point. I’d dare say the Avengers have taken quite the precautions to keep you as far away from me as possible.” He mused. He lifted his chin, approaching the glass window.
It was quite ridiculous to assume that this tiny and meagre prison would keep the Trickster at bay after everything he had proven to be capable of. If only he wanted to, he could shatter that glass with but a flick of his wrist or break the heavy metal door posing as the only barrier between you.
If you were to just… unlock that door to touch him… it would be so easy. Blinking rapidly, you shook your head to chase the thought away.
“Who are you?” He asked and for just a brief moment, you believed to see genuine interest and curiosity sparkling in his stunning blue eyes.
“No one, really. You already know my name, I presume but that’s all there is. I’m not special—I mean, I don’t have superpowers. I’m just a regular human with a rare condition.”
“Oh, I see. Surely you had not hoped for a criminal of all people to be your soulmate then? A murderer? A monster?” His expression hardened.
Yes. But you were not going to tell him that. He was still the person to have made you see colours again, regardless of who he was and what he had done. There must have been a connection between you, you felt it after all! And you were certain that he felt it too.
“Thor will take me back to Asgard and the great King Odin,” he continued, his voice dripping with sarcasm, “will surely have me executed. You will never see me again. So do not worry.”
“I don’t want that.” You finally chirped, barely daring to look him in the eye. His gaze was scrutinising and intimidating… almost as if he was able to see right into your soul with but one single glance.
Loki frowned.
“I bet you’re not happy about this, are you?” A desperate scoff escaped your lips. “I’m not sure I am…” You confessed and sat down on the chair in front of the window. It creaked a little under your weight, the unpleasant sound echoing through the empty hallway.
This man right in front of you was not be trusted and yet, the desire to pour your heart out to him was so strong you felt it like a sea of emotions attempting to drown you.
“You know ever since my twelfth birthday I wondered when I would finally meet my soulmate. Who they would be, what they would be like… and then so many years passed I was beginning to worry I might never see colours again. That I’d be alone and grey for the rest of my life.”
Loki licked his lips and glanced up at you, listening intently to every single word you said.
“Now I met you and they all tell me not to trust you. I mean… I know who you are, I know what you’ve done. I can’t say I’m happy about the fact my soulmate is…” You stopped yourself, breathing in sharply. “What was the universe thinking? You are a god and I’m just… me. We live light-years apart!”
Eventually, after a moment of surprisingly pleasant silence between you, Loki hummed. “The Norns do have interesting ways.” He said, locking his eyes with yours, almost as if he was pondering if… if what? If he could imagine being with you?
“So what should we do? Never speak of it again? Pretend we have never met? I can’t just… come to Asgard with you.” You held your breath when you realised what you were considering here. Loki must have thought the same. He smirked in response—not mockingly but bitterly. “Odin would never allow a mortal on Asgard. If I was to survive my trial, that is.”
“Don’t say that. I don’t care you’re a criminal right now, I just found my soulmate, and I don’t want to lose him again right away, regardless of what happens between us.”
With a start, his face fell. “Nothing will happen between us. That would be unnecessarily cruel, would it not? Your life in the nine realms is but a heartbeat compared to mine.”
“So… this is goodbye?”
Loki hesitated. You noticed by the way his lips slightly parted without a single sound escaping them just yet.
“Yes. This is goodbye.”
-
The fruit bowl had become your new best friend. In the morning, tired and rather absent, you sat at the kitchen table holding on to a steaming mug of coffee all the while studying the different colours of the fruit before you like a complicated Maths formula.
“Did you have a good chat last night?” Clint barked at you when he entered the room, skipping the ‘Good morning’.
“Huh?”
“With Loki?” He probed, raising his eyebrows in an I-already-know-what-you’ve-done manner.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” You said, shaking your head and focusing your gaze on the fruit bowl again. Yellow bananas, green grapes, red apples. In colour.
You flinched when Tony spoke your name. “We saw the footage on our security cameras. You sneaked to his cell last night knowing fully well why you should stay away from him, especially with… with… you know.”
Fuck… the security cameras. You had completely forgotten about those! Of course the legendary Tony Stark would have had security cameras installed all over the damn place!
Busted, you shrugged your shoulders as nonchalantly as you could muster. “I just wanted to talk him. I had to talk to him. I know what you’re all thinking—that he’s evil and brutal and cruel and ruthless… and… and you’re probably right? I… I don’t even know but… he is still my soulmate. I can see colours again because of him for Fuck’s sake! I can’t just… ignore that.”
“I get it. We don’t know what it must feel like. But it’s for the best. We don’t want him to hurt you.”
“I am his soulmate, too. He wouldn’t dare hurt me. You know maybe he’s not the monster you all think he is.”
“Are you saying that because you know him so well after last night or because that is what you want to believe?”
Both. “I just… have a feeling.”
“Right.” Tony clapped his hands. Your name left his lips almost like a plea. “You have to trust us.”
Thor nodded. “Loki is dangerous. You should stay away from him at least until we know he is not still plotting the domination of your planet.”
“What do you mean ‘at least until’? You can stop staying away from him when he’s back on Asgard and out of your reach.” Tony snapped.
“We’re just trying to keep you safe.” Steve intervened. You sighed.
“You know what? I’m getting a headache and I’m still tired, so I’m gonna go back to bed.” That wasn’t even a lie—well, at least the fatigue bit wasn’t. Besides, the blackout curtains in the room Tony let you stay in were heaven-sent.
That was until a loud tumult in the Tower woke you up again, even though you were not sure anymore you had actually fallen asleep once your head hit the soft pillow.
“W—“ Your scream of protest was muffled by a cool palm covering your mouth. You struggled briefly, ripping your eyes wide open in a weak attempt to make out who was assaulting you in the comforting darkness of your room when you suddenly heard a soothing voice shushing you.
“It’s me…”
“L-Loki?” You choked out when he removed his hand again. “Did you… did you break out of your cell?”
“It would seem so. Come.”
“What?”
He tilted his head. “I don’t have much time.”
You stood, throwing the covers back when he already reached for your hand and held it tightly, pulling you with him into the hallway and towards one of the more hidden exists of Stark Tower, a flight of stairs illuminated only by emergency lights.
“W-what are you doing?”
“I am proving to you that I am more than just a criminal.”
“Oh… but… um… where are we going?”
Loki smirked. Your eyes widened when he pulled out the Tesseract seemingly out of nowhere, its blue light glowing brightly in the dark and throwing artistic shadows on his face.
“Hold on tight.”
“Loki…”
The God of Mischief pulled you close, making you gasp. Your chest hit his, his arm wrapping around your waist. With his face only inches from yours, you could feel his warm breath on your lips, and suddenly longed to kiss him.
“You are my soulmate. I am not leaving you behind.”
“What happened to ‘goodbye’?” You chirped.
Loki tilted his head almost threateningly. “You are mine. Don’t you think I wanted to leave this place without looking back?” His expression softened. “But I couldn’t. Because of you.” And you might just be the only woman to ever love me in this way, he added silently.
“B-but… Y-you said Odin will never allow me on Asgard and… and…”
“I never said we were going to Asgard, now was I?”
Your lips parted. Could you trust him? The stranger who had finally made you see colours again? If you told him No, would he let go of you? Would he let you run to Tony and Clint and Nat so they could protect you from him? Swallowing thickly, you met his intense blue gaze and nodded.
Loki smirked and winked. “You are in for an adventure.” And you knew he wasn’t lying. Next thing you knew, you were both hurtled through space and into a shared future.

You had never considered yourself as someone jealous, you believed it was an awful feeling, irrational. But you couldn't help the sense of discomfiture forming in the pit of your stomach when there was evidence for you to feel that way. Bucky has been on a mission with Natasha for two weeks, this was the first time the two were sent alone. In the beginning, you didn’t worry about it because- you were aware of the past your boyfriend and the black widow shared, but Bucky had always assured you that it was in the past and he didn't see her as anything more than a friend. He made sure to show you every day how in love he was with you, and you didn’t remember the last time you felt this happy with someone.
But this mission changed everything.
Bucky usually calls you to check on you, even if he’s busy he always finds a way to text or call you, but this time he hadn’t even answered you. You got worried at first, millions of thoughts of what could have happened racing in your mind, but when Natasha contacted Tony to assure him they were okay, all you could wonder was why hadn't your boyfriend contacted you.
You gave him the deficit of the doubt and tried not to take his avoidance the wrong way but when they came back, he went straight to his room without even sparing a glance your way. What game was he playing at? What has happened on that mission to make your boyfriend act this way?
“You should go to talk to him,” Wanda advised  “I’m sure there’s a reason for him acting this way”
“Oh yeah? And what is it?” you scoffed.
You were in Wanda’s bedroom. She was your best friend, always supporting you when you needed it, this time was no different.
“Y/N, you know Bucky. He’s not that kind of guy. I’m sure there’s a reason. Stop being stubborn and go to talk to him”
You looked at her; she was giving you the “mom look”. You sighed. You loved Bucky, and you didn’t want to lose him. There had to be a reason, right? You knew he loved you, he even said he wanted to grow old and have a future with you.
You get up from Wanda’s bed. “You’re right,” You walked out of your friend’s bedroom and made your way to your boyfriend’s room. When you reached the corner of his hallway, you hear a door opening and people laughing. You put your head out the corner and you saw Natasha on the doorstep of your boyfriend’s bedroom. He was there too. Shirtless. She laughed at something he said and you didn’t catch and she smacked his right arm in a joking way. He was laughing too. You had never seen your boyfriend laugh that way with anyone other than you. Or Steve. And maybe Sam. But with Natasha? Never. Also, he hated when people invaded his personal space and touched him without permission.
You huffed as tears pricked at the back of your eyes and made your way back to your friend’s bedroom. Once there, you closed the door and slid to the floor. All the anger you once had turning bitterly into sadness, poisoning every fiber in your being. Tears started to blossom on your eyes and sliding through your cheeks. Wanda ran towards you and embraced you in her arms, asking what had happened, stroking your hair, in an attempt of calming you.
Sobbing you tried to tell her what you saw, the more you cried the hard it was talking and breathing for you. Wanda got you up from the floor and walked you to her bed, she cupped your face in her hands and wiped the tears from your cheeks.
“Breath, Y/N” She breathed in and on with you until you calmed a little.
You didn’t understand how he could do this to you. After all the things you had done for him. All the panic attacks, all the nightmares, and the sleepless nights you shared with him. And that is the way he repaid you? Going on your back with your friend?
And Nat, you had trusted her, the countless times you had told her things you would say to anyone, she was your friend and she assured she felt nothing for him anymore. She assured what happened between her and Bucky was done. You feel betrayed by two of the most important people in your life.
If he wasn’t happy with you, he could have told you. Yes, it would have hurt, but not much hurt as the one you were feeling right now.
“Are you sure that was what you saw? Maybe you misinterpreted it,” Wanda was trying to help, knowing Bucky and Natasha, it was impossible to think they would do such a thing to you.
“Wanda, if you saw Vis shirtless laughing at night with another woman in his bedroom, and this woman is touching him, what would you think? How can you misinterpret that?” It wasn’t about being open-minded, permissive, or controlling. It was about respect. There are things you don’t do if you are in a relationship with someone. He was out a lot of nights with Sam and Steve, and you were okay with that. You didn’t mind if he has girl-friends. But what you saw today and his attitude towards you in the last two weeks was something you could not ignore.
Wanda paused for a moment, thinking about what to say to you to make you feel better “Well…if they’re really doing this to you, then fuck them. They don’t deserve you,” your friend stated, “this defines them, but not you.”
You sniffled wiping your nose with the back of your hand. Your eyes were red from crying and they started to hurt. “Can I sleep here tonight?”
You usually slept with Bucky, either you went to his room or he came to yours. But tonight that wasn’t an option. Possibly, that wouldn’t be an option anymore.
“Of course,” She wasn’t going to leave you alone when you were going through such a hard time. You had always been there for her, and now she was going to be there for you.
When Pietro died, and she came to the Avengers Compound you were the first one to came and check up on her, you didn’t ask her how she was feeling, that was a stupid and obvious question, you just stay there with her, offering your support. And from that moment she knew you were going to be a very important part of her life.
“Now try to sleep. If you don’t rest, you won’t heal”
Tumblr media
The next day came sooner than you would have wanted to. The sunlight coming through the windows made you rub your eyes.
“How did you sleep?” Wanda was lying next to you, she had just woken up a few seconds before you.
“Not my best night,” You sat up in bed and rubbed your temples.
You felt her hand on your shoulder and you looked at her “I’m with you, okay?” You’re not alone,” She gave you a reassuring smile.
You were going to have to face Bucky and Natasha, and you weren’t prepared for that. When you reached the kitchen, you could hear their laughs again. The same laughs from last night. You took a deep breath and pursed your lips, trying to suppress the tears that were starting to form in your eyes. Not again. Not in front of them.
When your boyfriend noticed your presence, he turned his attention towards you, a wide smile spread on his face. “Hey, doll” He started to make his way to you “I went to your room last night but you weren’t there” Was he seriously like he didn’t ignore you for two weeks and yesterday acted like you didn’t exist? What a scoundrel.
He hovered over you, trying to wrap his arms around you but you dodged him. A confused look formed on his face. “I slept with Wanda. You seemed very busy, didn’t want to bother you.” You didn’t let him answer, just made your wake to the counter to pour two coffee mugs, one for you and one for your best friend.
Everybody was wearing confused looks at your behavior, you had never acted this way towards Bucky; you were quite the opposite, always hugging, kissing, or holding hands. Your PDA was something that drove the team crazy sometimes, but they were happy for you. Acting like this set alarms on everybody’s head. What the hell happened between you two?
Tumblr media
Bucky tried to talk to you the whole day but managed to slip through his fingers. He wanted an explanation. He wanted to know what he had done to make you act this way towards him. You two were fine when he left on that mission, so what had happened in that two weeks he was gone?
He finally found his chance when he caught you alone in the gym. This time you wouldn’t walk away.
“Y/N,” his voice was firm but not harsh, “Can we talk, please?”
“I don’t have time” You kept punching the bag and ignoring his presence. That’s it. He had enough. He grabbed your arm and turned you to him. Face to face.
“What’s gotten into you?”
“Let me go” You pointed at your grabbed arm with your eyes and he let you go.
Bucky huffed. “What did I do?”
You looked at him perplexed. Was he being serious?  “Are you really asking me that?”
“Y/N, honestly. I don’t know what I did.”
“You didn’t call, and neither answered any of my texts.”
“Really? That’s why you are mad? My phone broke and I couldn’t contact you”
You chuckled. What a lame excuse. “Of course. What about Nat then? You could have asked for her phone”
He frowned. “I told her to text to you, to tell you I was okay”
“Well, she didn’t”
“Maybe she forgot. I don’t know. It’s not much of a deal”
You were starting to get exasperated. He didn’t get it.
“You know what, Bucky? Fuck you!” That was the last thing you said to him before you left the gym. Wanda was right. He didn’t deserve you, and he didn’t deserve your tears either.
Tumblr media
You didn’t hear of Bucky for the rest of the day. Now you were sitting in your bed, a framed picture of the two of you in your hands. Your eyes started burning. You missed him. You didn’t want to miss him. You two were happy, didn’t you? You didn’t understand what you had done wrong.
You hear a knock on your door, you put the frame down on your bed and wiped your eyes. “Come in”
The door of your bedroom opened to let you see who you used to consider a friend. What was she doing here?
“Get out” you got up from bed abruptly and pointed at the door. Natasha looked at you shocked.
“Y/N, w-” you didn’t let her finish her sentence.
“OUT. NOW.” But she didn’t budge. She just stayed there, looking at you. You finally got tired and pushed her out of your bedroom.
“Y/N, Calm down. I just wanna talk to you” You didn’t answer, closing the door in her face.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y.” you called the AI system.
“Yes? Miss Y/N.”
“I don’t want anyone in my room. Don’t let anyone in. Only Wanda.”
“Alright. Miss Y/N. Do you want me to let Miss Maximoff know that you want to see her?”
“Yes, please.”
F.R.I.D.A.Y did as you told, and a few minutes later you hear a knock at your door. “Y/N. It’s me” You opened the door and crashed into the arms of your best friend.
“Let’s get out of here. Please get me out of here.” The redhead looked at you worried.
“What happened?” she questioned.
“I don't wanna talk about it now. I just- I can’t be here”
Wanda looked at you sympathetically and wiped the tears off your face the same way she did last night.
“Okay,” she nodded “Let’s get out. We are going to have a girls day”
Tumblr media
When you came back to the compound it was late at night. You were stumbling, arm slugged on Wanda’s neck. You had drunk a little too much, trying to cop-out. Your mother always said that being drunk is the anesthesia of the fools.
“Best night EVER!” you yelled, raising your fist to the air.
Wanda hushed you. You were going to wake up the rest of the team. “Wan, you're so hot.” you keep babbling, Wanda laughed, she was going to make sure to remind you this night tomorrow. “I love you soooooo much”
“I love you too, Y/N”
“You’re like my best best friend”
“You drank too much, Y/N. You need to sleep”
You shook your head, “No, no Imma go talk to him”
Wanda dragged to your best. “You’re going to sleep. You can talk to Bucky tomorrow”
“NOW!”
“Now you’re going to sleep” Wanda stated, getting tired of your drunk state. You looked at her, she looked so intimidating, you nodded like a scared puppy and did as she told. The moment your body hit your bed you fell asleep. “You’ll thank me tomorrow,” She said before stepping out of your room.
Tumblr media
Sunlight streams golden through the window. You raised your heavy eyelids halfway only for them to fall shut again. The aching in your skull ebbs and flows like a cold tide. Now you understand why they call it a hangover. Perhaps some painkillers would help.
You hear a knock on your door, you groaned and wrapped yourself in your duvet, hoping that whoever was out the door would just go away. But the knock persists, louder each time.
Once on your feet the room swayed, almost causing you to lose balance and you reached for the wall. This feeling made you think you had to have fun last night but somehow it wasn’t in your memory.
The reflection on the mirror in the wall shows no sign of the glamour girl of last night. You rubbed your eyes before opening the door.
“Wanda told me you would need this,” Bucky handed some painkillers and a glass of water in his hands. The cracking in your head and your dry mouth were too strong to ignore them and to kick out your boyfriend. You took the pill from his hand and threw them in your mouth followed by the glass of water.
“Fun night?” he asked, entering the room and closing the door.
“You could say that”
Bucky sat in your bed as you went into the bathroom. “You never handed alcohol well,” he chuckled under his breath.
“Bucky, what do you want?” you asked tiredly
“You and I have a pending conversation”
You sighed. “Now it’s not the best moment. Besides, I look awful”
“You always look beautiful,” he said softly, walking carefully to you, he brushed a piece of hair out of your face, tucking it behind your ear.
“Don't do this. Not now.” you closed your eyes, melting under his touch.
“Don’t do what? Telling you how I feel?”
“What happened between you and Nat?” you finally asked, the alcohol remaining in your system putting your defenses down. You didn’t want to fight. You just wanted to know. What Natasha had that you hadn’t?
Your question didn’t startle Bucky, not shocked him either. Little you know, Wanda had gone to his room last night, after she made sure you were asleep to question Bucky about his behavior towards you on the last few weeks. She cared for you, so much. You were like a sister to her, and she wouldn’t let anyone take advantage of you or make you feel like you weren’t worthy.
“There’s nothing between me and Natasha. I promise.” he said sincerely “I’m in love with you.”
“Then why didn’t you call or text me? Two weeks, Bucky. I hadn't heard from you in two weeks. You had me worried. We always call and text each other when we are on a mission”
“I told you, my phone broke. I told Nat to text you, I don’t know why she didn’t do it. I’m sorry”
You looked down. Bucky has never lied to you, and he has never given you a motive to mistrust him.
“What about the day you came? You ignored me the whole day”
“I was tired. All I wanted was to clean up and rest.”
“With Natasha?” you inquired
He looked at you confused, not knowing what you were talking about. “I went to your room that night, Natasha was there and you were shirtless”
He rubbed his face. “Oh, Y/N. That doesn’t mean what you think,” you looked at him, waiting for him to explain himself  “She just came to check up on me, I just came out of the shower, she didn’t even come in”
“You were laughing, though.”
“And you think that means I cheat on you? You always laugh with Steve and Sam. And I don’t think you are cheating on me with them. Why is Natasha any different?”
“Because-” you were ashamed of showing your insecurities to Bucky. “she had you first.” You couldn’t help to compare yourself to your friend, she was prettier, she was smart. She was everything you were not.
“And you have me now,” he cupped your face “And I want you forever.”
Bucky bent down and closed the gap between you. Finally feeling his lips in yours and- oh god. How have you missed the way he feels. He kissed you with so much gentleness like you were going to break any minute, but that wasn’t what you wanted right now; you needed to let him know that you were there, you wanted to feel every part of his body against yours and reassure yourself that he wasn’t going anywhere. You knotted your fists in his shirt, pulling him closer if that was even possible. He groaned, his hands firmly on your hips and lips agape. When you pulled away you smiled and touched his lips with your fingers. “I’ve missed you.”
“Missed you too, doll,” he said circling his arms around you making his way towards your bed until you hit the mattress, his body hovering over yours. “We have so much time to make up to.”

Word Count: 1.5k (fluffy)
A/N: Y’all i finally got inspiration back, updates will still be a tiny bit slow, but I think you’ll like this fic
The test lay upside down on the sink, the timer on your phone next to it; ticking off every second that went by. You paced around the bathroom, from one side to the other. You bit your fingernails, an awful habit you meant to put a stop to. But found it hard to at this moment.
This was your third, no, the fourth try. Every failure brought you closer to giving up on this golden dream you'd crafted with Natasha. This idea that you might have children of your own to raise in a large house in the suburbs. To be domestic and at peace with your life.
That chance seemed further with every test.
You jumped as the timer buzzed loudly on the side of the sink. Hurriedly, you switched it off and turned the test over. Your eyes widened as you dropped the device on the ground. It clattered dully as a grin covered your face at the result.
Two lines.
You were pregnant.
Grinning, you grabbed the test to rush out to show it to your wife. You stopped quickly, remembering she was at the Avengers compound. Instead, you picked up your phone, texting her a picture of the test, and trying to call her. No answer.
She needed to know, even if that meant you had to go down to the compound yourself and tell her. You knew she was adamant about keeping you away from her work life, not wanting to involve you in a work that seemed to bring the horrors of her past with the threats of the future. You didn't blame her for wanting to keep you away, even though it was hard not meeting the people she risked her life for.
Debating it in your head, you eventually decided to go tell her. You quickly grabbed your coat, and at Natasha's common insistence, a knife in your jean waistband. The knife would probably be a bad idea in a few months, but you'd rather not be caught without it, for now at least.
Trying to call her one last time, you rushed into your car and began the drive there. The apartment wasn't too far from the compound, not too far from where you worked either. You'd wanted somewhere that both of you could go to work easily from, Natasha had wanted someplace where she could get to you faster.
It worked, but you needed to find a bigger house soon. Maybe somewhere near a lake, or some scenery, so you could go hiking or swimming with them. You could teach them how to swim for the first time, Natasha could teach them all the stars in the sky and the stories behind them.
So many dreams, you wanted them all now that you had the chance.
A bright grin was on your face the whole ride t the compound, barely fading as you walked into the compound. The receptionist greeted you with a supportive nod, knowing you were a SHIELD agent. You flashed them a bright smile as you made your way towards the living areas.
Surprise filled you when you didn't see anyone from the team around, walking through till the common room until you finally saw someone. He wore an army green t-shirt with jeans, casual as he walked around. You greeted him with a smile, about to move past him to find Natasha. He had other plans though, frowning before slamming his hand on the alarm beside him.
"Sam, right?" You asked, stepping back as the sound of the blaring alarms filled the air. He stepped away from you, taking a fighting stance, assuming you were a threat. You laughed at that, the mere idea you would come to attack the home of the country's heroes.
"How do you know my name?" He asked defensively as the other members of the team began to trail into the common room at the commotion. You groaned when you realized they all thought you were planning to hurt them.
Not given a chance to answer his question, you stepped aside to dodge a shield you already knew was coming your way. The move surprised them, Sam quickly moved forwards to attack you, kicking near your head. You batted his leg away from you, throwing him off balance before picking up the shield to throw it back at Steve.
Only half the team was here, Sam, Bucky, Steve, and Tony. All of them equally surprised and apprehensive of your arrival. None gave you the chance to talk as they began to attack, thinking you were hostile. Steve grabbed the shield again to throw it at you, surprised when you dodged it and kicked it towards Bucky.
Out of breath, you panted a little while you waited for them to catch their balance. All the while there was a small smile on your face, imagining their reaction once they found out who you are, especially why you're here. For now, you needed to focus on the suit Tony had summoned into the living room.
"I'm not who you think I am." You breathed, ducking a punch sam tried to send your way, throwing him off balance with a kick to his side. He flinched back, pausing at your words. The rest of them stopped with him, waiting for some answer.
"Who are you?" Steve asked, his shield set firmly in front of him. You opened your mouth to answer, closing it when you realized hardly any of them would believe you. Instead, you chose to show them the wedding ring on your finger. You were ready to provide an explanation when someone spoke from behind you.
"She's my wife."
A grin formed on your face as Natasha came to hug you from behind. You didn't need to turn around to know it was her, merely tilting your face so you could kiss her cheek. Her hand interlaced with yours, her wedding ring matching yours for proof you were sure they didn't need.
Her grip around you tightened as they lowered their guard, greeting you and apologizing for trying to fight you. Her hand was placed firmly on your back as you talked them, wanting to keep you for herself. It was a bit selfish of her not to introduce you to them, wishing to keep you away from this life as much as she could.
Now she could see it wasn't her decision as you proudly showed off your ring, laughing at the stories they told you. Your smile was so bright as you introduced yourself as her wife to everyone who came into the room. She nodded at the surprised glance they sent her, smiling along with you.
It was no secret to you that she had been scared to introduce you to them. Natasha knew that they could never scare you off, nor take you away from her. Not even the heavens could divide her from you. She feared that you might not want to be with her anymore. Maybe you might leave after seeing in person the kind of life she leads.
Now, she knew you won't.
Not when your hand squeezed hers tightly, not when you sent her smile after smile, joy clouding your eyes. Not when you eagerly told them stories about your relationship, proud to be hers. You couldn't leave her, not when you loved her the way you do.
"So why now?" Tony asked, curious as he chewed absently on a toothpick. You grinned brightly, turning to Natasha, hesitance clouding your features quickly. She gave you a supportive nod, hoping you would explain your unexpected, but welcome appearance.
"Is now a good time to tell you?" You asked, nodding towards your stomach, hoping she would get the idea. You knew she didn't by the way she tilted her head to the side curiously. Biting your lip tightly, you weren't sure if she would be okay with telling the rest of the team.
She's spent years hiding you, you didn't know if she wanted to hide the new arrival to your family.
Still biting your lip, you tugged her arm closer to you. Getting the hint, she leaned her ear closer to you so you could whisper. The entire team leaning closer, straining to hear the reasons you had to share.
"I'm pregnant," You whispered, her hand freezing in yours, her eyes widening as her she turned around to meet your eyes. Her eyes held so much doubt, looking up at you as if you held the world in your hands, ready to take it away at any second.
But you nodded, ready to give her the world she deserved.
She had never looked happier as she hugged you tightly, tears pooling in her eyes, her breath hitching as you laughed. Her dreams were so much closer, all because of you. Never had she even dared to think her dreams of a family might become true.
Now, as she told her chosen family excitedly about the expected new arrival, she wouldn't want anything else. She wouldn't need anything more than you by her side and the dreams you'd made together. The dream which would have remained hidden if it had not been for you.

what happened to mc after that?? JUNGKOOK I WILL WHOOP YO FUCKING ASS
Tumblr media
cold senior!y/n x stem major!koo masterlist :D
the aftermath of stem koo breaking senior!y/n's heart
"do you need anything from us?"
yoongi asks you for the fifth time in the twenty minutes you've been home, heart breaking from the inside out when you haven't moved a single inch
he is begging that the thing you need from him and jin is to go beat j*ngkook up
HE CAN'T EVEN SAY HIS NAME WITHOUT BEING ANGRY AT HIM!!!!!!!
anything. anything to atleast make you sleep in peace tonight.
or them honestly,, either way
your body's facing the backrest of the couch and maybe that's for the better, because that way, seokjin won't feel the need to cry looking at the coldest person he's known to be openly vulnerable
you're still wearing your jersey!!! your stained dirty jersey that you've been in for the past three hours and the reason that it's still wet was that you've been using it to wipe your tears all the way to the dorm
"no. i'll be alright."
you mumble for the fifth time out of the five times you've been asked, and yoongi just has to grapple at his fist because he knows that being frustrated wouldn't help
you are the fURTHEST thing from okay
to be honest, it was only a miracle that you told the two of them what happened in the first place
it was in between sobs that you asked them why they were friends with you and they couldn't be anymore dumbfounded
it was in between violent tears that you mentioned hyeji that seokjin looked for a box of tissues because you've been intentionally rubbing your eyes raw
it was in between heaving that you said that no one wants to go the extra mile for me that yoongi started holding your cheeks and trying to get you to breathe with him in his panic too
it was in between hiccups that you uttered that no one wants to walk me home and that's when both of yoongi's and seokjin's throats started tightening, the dots hazy yet aligning nonetheless
it was in silence when you told that jungkook said that no one likes me, and that's when out of the three of you in the room – you're the one who's the calmest.
"okay. i'll bring you a blanket."
yoongi leaves it at that, standing from his spot on the floor to walk over to the kitchen where the blankets cLEARLY aren't there
no one really prepared yoongs for this
no one really is
there isn't a manual on how to act when the dearest friend that you have is crying their guts out for the first time
he can't explain his close bond with you and he's always seen you as his platonic girlfriend!!! his platonic girlfriend who has a bond with him that's closer than a sister's, more understanding than a mother's, and the utter admiration more than a friend's
you r literally yoongi's (platonic) soulmate and he would die on that hill
he would rather subject himself to torture via having to stay in a freshman's dorm equipped with the de facto led strip lights everyday!!! every single day, than to see you like this :(((
"what do you have on the bitch?" yoongi doesn't spare his words when he sits on the kitchen stool next to jin's figure
the dude is sTANDING and that means business
jin doesn't feel a single ounce of regret fetching his work laptop and scrolling through the files and tabs he has on every single student on campus, eyes only looking for one lee hyeji that's contributed to your anguish rn
jungkook is atleast 3/4 in this equation and seokjin will get to him of course
no one makes his emotional support best friend cry and nOT pay the consequences for it!!!!
in another life, vincenzo cassano's character is based on seokjin and the events in his life that definitely happened >:(
"she's daddy's money. can't fucking believe that sHE'S representing the school," he sighs in genuine annoyance, but not loud enough to pique your attention as he turns the screen so yoongi could clearly see her headshots, "must be a diversity hire. every university needs a fucking bimbo, apparently."
you see,,, yoongi would've SNORTED at that but now is not the time!!! he is still planning discreet retribution to avenge you!!!!
jin lets yoongi look at hyeji's entire file, wanting to get even the smallest bits even if the information he's taking in is against his will
he'll immediately delete whatever he learns about her right after it's served its purpose
"just messaged the faculty groupchat," seokjin himself didn't imagine the words coming out from his lips determinedly, but he knows that he's willing to do anything for the sake of this, "been crushing on jeon ever since the start of last semester. philosophy professor thinks it's because he once saw jungkook lending her a pen when they were in the topic of soulmates."
jesus christ
now THAT'S just annoying ://
this
whatever this is
seokjin and yoongi don't know what they're digging all this information for
they don't know what this unspoken plan is for, or if they even have a plan in the first place
if jin were to tell the faculty gc about this???
absolute mayhem
but he knows for a fact that they'd hate star student jungkook easily within a tap of a finger
the philosophy prof would lose all sense of rationality and reasoning and INSTANTLY point to jungkook as an asshole!!! no questions asked!!!! no elaborations!!!!
"i could get jeon eliminated from all the academic listings he's in."
jin pipes in at the silence that he and yoongi share, both listless in this situation that they never expected to encounter with you
"i could always spread a rumor and make him unlikeable."
yoongi toys with the rings that he wears, a heavy exhale tearing away from him
they could think of a thousand other ways to get back at jungkook!!! they literally can
seokjin knows a contract guy who leaves shredded paper with his contract's initials written on red ink (for a base fee of three dollars, he can switch up the ink for you!!!) right next to their side on the bed
yoongi knows a guy whose modus operandi is to discreetly follow people, have subliminals playing in the background (for an extra fee of ten dollars, he'll use wireless bass-boosted speakers), and continue doing so until the desired message is achieved!!!!
none of the people they have connections to could employ the same amount of pain he's caused on you
there's literally nothing that could hit home with jungkook besides you.
but there's no way to do that and even in your state of anger and sadness tHEN utter vulnerability, you can't even really think of hurting jungkook in the way he did
because you know and yoongi knows and seokjin knows and everyone knows that you aren't the type to wish ill
you admit that sometimes you're unavailable but you don't want that to be an asshole-reason to make everyone else around you suffer in the same way you do
the people around you aren't your shock absorbers!!!! that's why you hang out a teddy bear on your doorknob when you're mad so that neither yoongi or jin would have the possibility to be caught in your rage
that's why you call for a break when your soccer team is out of their game and make everyone drink their electrolytes before they speak to you!!!!
that's why you have the old heart of your even older build-a-bear stuffie in your pocket, one of the only reminders that your childhood even happened, one that you'd squeeze between your fingers in any remotely anxious instances that you find yourself in
jungkook's words hit home and it put you into a spiral if you even had one in the first place
your parents divorced when you were young and it's just that,,, no one from the two of them wanted you because you were the reminder of the other parent
you're a place marker for when a commitment started and ended and god did it make you grow up quickly
your aunt raised you!!!! she's an angel and she's the maternal figure in your life that you'd always be grateful for
you love her all the same and as much as you didn't wanna relate yourself to your parents in the same way that they don't, the feelings of being unliked hit you ever so often
lol it's quite a dashing mindset you have but you can't see any other interpretation you should employ
you leave before they could leave you.
it's not really as dramatic as it sounds
BUT IT COULD BE
there's always obligatory groupchats for projects and you're the first one to leave it instead of awkwardly waiting out for the conversation to dwindle and then leave one by one
when you and yoongi argue, you leave before he attempts to get the last word in
when jin is about to ask if you want to split the bill, you're already putting more than half of your share on the table
it's a nagging feeling of not wanting be unwanted in every situation you're in, but you aren't all that sure of wHAT you'd do to be liked
the only thing you could think of are lunchboxes, and even that gets taken away from you.
does no one really like you??
you're shifting in your position before you know it and the lone sound makes jin and yoongs come to your side immediately, looking at you in concern
you're looking up and you could just fEEL your eyes are puffy and even the light's hurting them
"i need to sleep."
"o-oh! m'kay, sure. i'll carry you to bed, let's go," seokjin wastes no time in responding, about to hook his arms underneath you when you repeat yourself again
you only chuckle but it's the driest and most painful they've ever heard, wincing when they can hear how breathless it was
"no. i mean i need to sleep."
jin blinks once
yoongi blinks twice
OH
right
they get it now
you don't want to sleep, and you really can't, but you need it
"i'll get it!!" jin volunteers to grab what you need, leaving yoongi with you
oh god you could fEEL that he's going to cry
what a big baby ://
seokjin comes bearing the joint :D
he's about to light it for you because he knows that three specific short hits would lull you to slumber then knock you out cold for like a day lmao
he minored in chemistry actually but he cAN'T explain shit on why that's your body's reaction
you're all-good for literally anything besides three short hits lmao
yoongi was about to scold jin because he lights it and tHEN he's the one who takes the first drag, but there's an assuring wave of his hand
how romantic
jin just blew you a heart
<3
they can't get anything from you besides the slight crinkling from your eyes but they don't mind at all — your eyes are atleast one degree less sad
you take your turn and even pass it to yoongi but he rEFUSES,,,,, not the least bit dejected that he decided not to because he wants to watch over you instead and not see every inanimate object with cartoon eyes on them while watching over you
"bake her a cookie if in case she suddenly gets hungry in the middle of her sleep. sneak a carrot in it or something," jin reminds yoongi and he's sERIOUS about the recipe, holding you in tow as he makes the way to your room
yoongi's about to break out the bowls, freezing in his steps when he hears the doorbell frantically ring
oh god
the ONE time that they didn't plug the door with a wet towel and now it's probably the hall manager outside about to do an inspection
that is not..... the hall monitor
that is a fucking asshole
jungkook's been pacing on his heels, his knocking loud enough to wake up the entire hallway at this point
he's SWEATING and he's not even wearing his hoodie
the door finally opens and the words start tumbling out of his mouth
"good evening. i-i wanna explain myself and-..."
that is not,,,,, you
it's his senior that he's disrespected probably too many times
yoongi leans to the door, a sickeningly sweet smile on his face that the junior's never seen before
"you ever had a sandwich before, jungkook?"
"w-what?"
the younger boy stammers, his eyes following yoongi's actions of looking behind him out of worry and then going outside to join him by closing the door softly without noise
yoongi only snorts, not even sure if he's up for conversation
"hyeji's never packed you a sandwich before?"
jungkook pales at the mention, mouth drying when he sees yoongi bring up the soft smile that doesn't comfort him at all
"the one that's all knuckle?"

Sleep Paralysis (Helmut Zemo x Reader)
[Marvel-Masterlist]
Summary: You hated sharing a room with another person. Especially when it came to sleeping. Which usually resulted into you staying awake for the night if you were teamed up with someone. Sometimes you could not escape exhaustion, though.
Words: 2,381
Warnings: language, angst, fluff, insomnia, experiencing sleep paralysis, anxiety, TFATWS spoilers (I don’t think there are any but just to be sure I guess), Zemo awakens the poet in me idk, REQUESTS ARE OPEN!
If you like my work & wanna support me: a coffee would be highly appreciated ❤
The people you found yourself teamed up with gave you safety. Sam, Bucky & even Zemo. With the three of them on your side, you had nothing to fear. Missions with these guys were easy. If the two grown ass men children were not occupied with killing the other grown ass man child. Names were not needed here, that was explanation enough. You were surprised yourself when you started enjoying Zemo’s company. He was a criminal. He was supposed to be the bad guy. So why could you not view him as such? Was it the way he moved his body? Was it his hair which fell in place just perfectly imperfect? Was it his coat that accentuated the weight of the world he carried on his shoulders alone? Was it his smile that was just the tiniest bit bigger whenever he glanced at you? Was it that stupid head tilt thing that was everything but stupid to you? What the hell was it? And why the hell was resisting your urges so damn hard?
Maybe it was your mind playing tricks on you but you could have sworn that his eyes fell on you, no matter how big the crowd. You could have sworn that his body searched out your presence wherever you went. There was this unspoken thing between you guys. As much as you wanted to address the tension building up, you were apprehensive what your best friends would say about it. You were doubtful how he would receive the news. Your ever growing friendship was at risk. The mere thought of having to live your life without him was inconceivable. How did it work before he came along? It was like your brain erased those memories altogether. Truthfully, he changed your life around without having an idea of the effect he had on you. Or he did know but enjoyed messing with your feelings. Though he did not strike you as that type of man.
Countless nights were spent with you having deep, meaningful conversations. Thanks to those times, you perceived his side of the story. His motives & what drove him to the actions that brought him behind bars in the end. By no means were you trying to justify his crimes. There would have been multiple different ways. Back then, the only purpose for him was revenge. Apologies that came too late were given. Zemo truly was sorry. And while words & emotions could be faked easily, it was impossible to hide the deeper meaning that his eyes held. The softness, the wariness, he could not simulate this. Those beautiful brown orbs were withholding years worth of tears. It was not your position to force him to display his weakness in front of you. Sometimes, simply knowing that another person was available if needed, that was enough.
The same feeling of secureness was provided by him. Your past was not necessarily pleasant either. Innumerable regrets labeled your existence. You were not a good example of a hero. Every day, you contemplated the what-if’s. Overthinking was part of your diurnal routine. All the pondering was needless. The switch only shifted after the beginnings of Zemo’s nocturnal reassurances. Without him, you would still be stuck in that gloomy pit your body had constructed on its own. You two were reliant on each other. Not physically but mentally. Unpretentiously, small touches followed. Brushing his thumbs over your smooth skin on the back of your hand. Squeezing your shoulders gingerly. Goosebumps erupted each time his body warmth was transferred to yours. Whether he wore his leather gloves or not, your body responded with endless fireworks that launched from deep inside.
The hotel you entered radiated wealth. Zemo negotiated the reservations. Which was obvious by the mere impression of the lofty ceilings that were embellished with immense sparkling chandeliers. Your eyes overstrained from the extravagance, switching from one highlight to the next. As a regular citizen, your income denied you such a lifestyle. Avengers did not earn a fortune, this trait came with the job description. Meaning that you would savor every little ticking of your stay. The marvelous high of contentment ceased when the receptionist informed you of an immutable adjustment concerning your room situation. The only two vacant premises were a king size in one & two singles in the other. Apparently, the decision was resolved without you having a say in it. Your questions were answered with a definite proclamation. You were the only soul unable to kill the Baron. Your attempts to conceal your embarrassment were unsuccessful. The smirk adorning Zemo’s features was unhelpful in your current position. Sam & Bucky abandoned you in the entrance, heading off to their room to rest after a tiring mission.
Zemo demanded your luggage to be brought up to your chambers. One of his hands rested on your lower back. This motion warmed your body. It was so simple yet filled with extensive care. It should have been wrong but you have never felt more protected in your entire life. One thing worried you. Sharing a room with the man who brought out your true happiness. It was no secret that you suffered from insomnia. Usually, it vanished after indefinite missions. The interminable flight in Zemo’s private jet added up to your exhaustion. Under no circumstances would you sleep in a room with the Baron. The trust existed, that was not the issue. What happened during your slumber could not be controlled. The tossing, turning, screaming. Nightmares invaded your dreams every time you closed your eyes. Therefore, you obviated sleep as long as possible. Multiple cups of coffee, the heavy does of caffeine every day, aided your wish to stay up. If you narrated a good enough excuse, he would not inquire. At least, that was what you hoped.
Stepping through the tall door into the spacious room, you stopped dead in your tracks. You needed a second to take everything in. Never before had you occupied such a luxurious chamber. It resembled a suite. Different shades of warm colors complemented each other. The vast windows enabled your view of the city beneath. Colorful lights brought the dead of the dim night to life. Facing the stars aligning the somber night sky, Zemo arranged himself next to you. Minutes of silence enveloped you, filling the room to the brink. The man next to you fractured the quietness with whispers. He pointed out various constellations. Observantly, you absorbed his words. He was cultured but never bragged about it. His sentiment of deliberate timing was unique. One of his characteristics was fathoming when to quit talking. Or when it was suitable to speak. Zemo constantly knew how to ease the tension with his thoughtful comments.
“You take the bed. I am content with resting on the couch.” he proposed. As much as you appreciated his deliberation, you pronounced the contrary.
“No, Helmut. I won’t sleep anyway, you can have the bed.” your gentle smile underlined the tiredness emanating from your eyes. He tilted his head to one side, observing your body language.
“You have not rested after our mission yet. Not even during the flight where Sam, James & I slept.” he annotated, worry audible in his voice. Your shoulders lifted in a short shrug. Alleging that you were fine. Spending hours with you concluded to him comprehending your lies. Your features were different whenever you attempted feigning him. Approaching your figure in the barely illuminated room, he halted a few steps away from you. Movements of his hands caught your attention. The gloves were peeled off. Lifting one of his arms, you shivered when his skin touched your cheek affectionately. His fingers caressed your face so lovingly, your eyes closed instinctively. “You are exhausted, darling.” his words were soft, soothing your ears by the fragility of them. The space between you two was narrow. You breathed the same air. His body heat passed onto you. Your heart sped up, almost as if it could break out any second. Nobody had ever made you feel that way. Nodding obediently, Zemo dragged you closer to the soft mattress covered with silk sheets. It was a desired invitation. It did not last long before you gave in. The smooth material welcomed you. Realizing Zemo’s retreating steps, your hand reached for his wrist, freezing his tries. He glanced over his shoulder bewildered.
“Stay.” it was music to his ears, hearing your quiet proposition. Holding himself back, he shook his head briefly. A signal that he did not want to disturb you. “Please.” his face softened at your plea. How could he resist your sweet voice? How could he resist you when it was obvious that you wished for him to stay with you?
“Okay.” pulling back the blankets, he lied right behind you. Your back was facing him. The shock was only brief when your hand searched for his arm. Draping it over your waist, you sighed contently when he embraced you tighter. It was not just what you needed. This, it was required by him as well.
Peaceful hours of cuddling went by without disruption. The calm was interrupted by your eyes snapping open in fear. Your back was against the mattress. Staring at the tall ceiling, your breath quickened when you could not move. Could not talk. Could not scream. There was not a single thing that could be done but you awaited the bad that would arrive soon. It was not the first time you experienced such a situation. The pressure in your chest grew steadily, obstructing your breathing. Your muscles ached, your head pounded. Someone would murder you. If you did not rise soon, death would come knocking on your door. Your attempts to push away the sheets & your labored breath stirred the man next to you awake. His confusion ended when he noticed your struggles. Propping his head onto one of his arms, he scooted closer to your body. Zemo knew what you were going through at the moment. While he had never suffered from such a period himself, he had read about it. Your eyes widened when his locked onto yours. The fear was visible even without a light illuminating the room. His free hand moved to your cheek. In the process, he whispered sweet nothings to you in hopes that they would reach you. Irregular breaths were still very much present. Though you had him with you, your anxiety was acting up still. Your mind was determined that you would die in a few minutes.
“Hey, hey, hey. Darling, look at me.” your eyes slowly shifted from the ceiling to his dark, almost black ones. They were a beautiful shade of brown but it was too sinister to detect the different hues. “There you go.” his voice was steady, controlled. “What you are experiencing is called sleep paralysis. It means that you are awake but your body is asleep still. It will be over soon, I promise. This might feel life threatening to you but I’m here, okay? I am here with you & I will not let anything happen to you.” his eyebrows raised expectantly. The most you could give him was a useless attempt of a nod. His fingers stroked over your skin, bringing you comfort. You were not on your own. Zemo held you close to his body. Still unable to move, the one thing you could feel was his body heat. Minutes without change went by. Affirmations were whispered into the quiet of the ample room. Your leg shuffled the blankets. A small smile crept onto your face. Finally, you had control again. Your muscles were no longer frozen in place. Overwhelmed by the sudden liberty, you embraced Zemo into a tight hug. Reciprocating immediately, he held your head in place in the crook of his neck. His other arm raked around your waist, keeping you as close as possible. He assured you that you were alright. That nobody & nothing could hurt you. Not when he was around. The silent tears rolling down your cheeks were inevitable. They stained his shirt but he could not care less. All that mattered was you overcoming the feeling of uncontrollability. Maybe it was his explanation. Or his proximity. Or his sweet words calming you down. In the end, the cause was insignificant. Zemo helped you through this & there were no words to express your gratitude to him.
Pulling away slightly, he rested his forehead against yours. You mimicked his deep breaths, disposing of the last bits of worry. When you were in his presence, it was gratuitous to be fearful. Demons had no chance. Not when it came to Zemo. The next reaction came naturally. This time, you did not fight the urge to press your lips onto his. You took his breath away by the unexpected action. There were no complaints from his side. Both hands rested on your face, bringing you closer if it was even feasible. In your imagination, you recalled kissing Zemo to be heated. This right now was the exact opposite. No words could depict what emotions were rushing through your entire body. Descriptions were useless if you could demonstrate it with a simple kiss. After it ended, silence sheathed you two once again. It was everything but unpleasant. He kept holding onto you. Zemo would never judge you because of nightmares or similar occurrences. Your head rested on his chest, above his heart. The beat calming your nerves even further. Explaining that you had always suffered from the monsters of the night, he did not interrupt. You needed to confide & he was more than happy to be available. Another soft kiss was pressed on top of your head. A content sigh left your lips. Zemo assured you that he would stay, no matter what. He was in this for good. Whatever this was. Time would clarify the relationship between you two. All you knew was that it felt right. Having him close to you. Having him as your protector. Having him to brighten up your days. Simply having him. That was adequate. That was your unspoken wish. You expected a lot but you did not expect the fulfillment of a previous unknown dream. You were home.

Tumblr media
Meeting Anna's granddaughter wasn't something I'd ever imagined, since Anna rarely mentioned her unless it was to recall a memory that eventually made her quiet for the rest of the day or to make a snide remark out of annoyance. So, to have her here in front of us was definitely... new.
"What are you doing here?" Anna asked with disbelief.
Sasha blinked awkwardly. "I, er, got a call from the nurse. She said you'd hurt your back, so I thought I'd check in." Her gaze fell to Wanda and I. "I see you've got company."
"Sorry, we'll give you a moment," Wanda blurted, before looking to Anna reassuringly.
I did the same before eyeing Sasha suspiciously then following after Wanda into the hall. When the door closed behind us, I wondered what exactly would happen in there. To say I was overprotective of Anna was an understatement.
Taking a seat on the chairs outside her room, I became acutely aware of how stupid I looked in my trainers, Mickey Mouse pyjamas and raincoat. Especially when Wanda sat beside me, knee brushing mine.
"Do you want a drink or anything?" she asked suddenly, earning my attention.
I shook my head, crossing my arms and leaning back into my seat. "No, thank you, I'm good."
She hummed in acknowledgement but said nothing else. The awkwardness that lingered between us was overpowering, but nowhere near as overpowering as the scent of Wanda's shampoo that was drifting up my nose from how close she was sat to me. I tightened my crossed arms, trying to think of something else. Then I remembered what had happened in Anna's room before Sasha interrupted.
"What were you and Anna arguing about?" I asked, glancing at the witch.
She winced, but didn't look my way. "Nothing. Just neighbour stuff."
I smiled bitterly. So, she didn't want to share. Fine. No big deal. Who was I but her neighbour's carer anyway?
After ten minutes of waiting, we decided to head back inside to make sure Anna was okay. What we saw was Anna and Sasha crying happy tears as the latter sat at her bedside, clutching her hand.
"Damn, sorry," I apologised for Wanda and I, realising we'd interrupted a special moment. "We can–"
"No, we're done," Sasha said, wiping away her tears with embarrassment. "Sorry about that."
"Devushki (girls), this is my granddaughter, Sasha," Anna introduced, and I'd never seen her look happier.
As Sasha stood up and rounded the bed to approach us, I realised she seemed familiar because of the photographs I'd seen around Anna's apartment.
"It's nice to finally meet the two people who have been taking care of my grandmother," Sasha said, before putting out her hand.
I bit back from retorting with something along the lines of 'we wouldn't have to if you had cared for her yourself', and instead shook her hand. Wanda glanced at me, probably sensing the negative thoughts in my mind with her powers, but she said nothing as she smiled politely at Sasha and shook her hand.
"It's nice to meet you, too," Wanda spoke, realising I wouldn't. "Anna talks a lot about you. I was hoping we would eventually meet."
Sasha sighed regretfully, smile fading. "Yes... well, I haven't been around as much as I should have been. I know that now."
"Took you long enough," I muttered under my breath, it slipping out without me realising.
Wanda shoved me in the arm in response and I frowned, rubbing the sore spot.
"You're right," Sasha said, looking to me apologetically. "But I'm here now. And getting that call earlier... it made me realise that I've treated Anna horribly. That's why I've invited her to live with me. To make up for lost time."
Certainly not expecting that, my jaw dropped with surprise. "What?"
Sasha sat back down beside Anna's beside and I exchanged startled looks with Wanda before looking to the older woman in question.
"No offence," I started, glancing at Sasha, before focusing on Anna again, "but are you sure this is the right move? It's not too sudden?"
Anna shook her head and grabbed Sasha's hand. "She wants me to be around her family. And I want it too, Y/N. I miss them."
I nodded, but chewed on the inside of my mouth anxiously. It's not that I didn't trust Sasha (okay, maybe it was a little), but I was scared for Anna. I didn't want her to get heartbroken all over again.
Be supportive, Wanda's voice filled my mind, and I looked to her to see her eyes fading from red to green.
I clenched my jaw. Stay out of my head.
With a bright smile, she ignored me and looked between the grandmother and granddaughter duo.
"I think that's wonderful, Anna," she said kindly. "I mean, of course I'm going to miss having you as a neighbour, but this is all you've wanted. I'm thrilled for you. And so is Y/N."
When she looked to me for confirmation, I felt a familiar anger in the pit of my stomach, only reserved for Wanda Maximoff. But this wasn't about us, this was about Anna.
"I am," I agreed, eyes flickering to Anna. "It sounds great."
"You can both visit whenever you want," Sasha said, nodding enthusiastically. "Anna loves you both so dearly."
"You can't get rid of us even if you tried," Wanda joked, flashing Anna a teasing smile.
Anna chuckled. "I knew you would both understand."
I smiled halfheartedly, glad that everything was working out for Anna but knowing I would miss caring for her greatly.
"We should leave you to rest," I said with finality.
"Thank you," Anna replied, and by the way she looked at me, I knew she was thanking me for a lot more.
"Get well soon," I told her in my 'nurse' voice that she hated, a playful smile on my lips. "I'll check on you tomorrow."
Anna nodded. "Tomorrow."
After saying an awkward goodbye to Sasha, I left the room and headed for the lift down the hall, not bothering to wait for Wanda. Thankfully, she must have known I didn't want to speak to her, as she didn't speed after me.
Since Anna moved in with her granddaughter, the last time I saw Wanda was at the hospital. Two more months passed and I had no need to bump into her at Anna's apartment since Anna didn't live there anymore. And the one time I visited Anna since she moved in to Sasha's house, Wanda wasn't present.
I guess it made it a lot easier to attempt to get over her. Six months since she broke up with me was long enough to move on, I think. I'd been on a few dates, none really going anywhere until Natasha decided to set me up with someone a few weeks ago.
It was a family friend of her Avenger's teammate, Clint Barton, and though it was a blind date, it actually worked out well. The woman was called Elise and she was very sweet and charming on our first date, having a similar sense of humour to mine and a killer smile. It was actually the first time since Wanda left that things felt like they were falling into place. We went on a few more dates, deciding not to rush things, and I found myself looking forward to going out with her.
It was a few weeks into our dating relationship when Natasha gave me a call, inviting me as her plus-one to Clint and his wife's vow renewal. They were having a whole celebration at their homestead in Missouri and Natasha figured I'd enjoy it, able to take a weekend break and join her at the lavish hotel she'd be staying in. And also because Elise would be there.
"Oh?" I said with surprise. "Elise didn't mention anything."
"She wanted to," Natasha said with amusement, "but she didn't want to bring it up in case you didn't want to go."
I quirked a brow, despite her being unable to see me. "And why wouldn't I want to go?"
Natasha hesitated. "'Cause Wanda will be there...?"
A sigh escaped my lips as I massaged my forehead. Elise knew about Wanda because it came up when she asked how Natasha and I became friends. She was actually really chill about the whole thing, which I appreciated, but I could only imagine how she must have felt knowing that Wanda would be at the vow renewal.
"You should still come," Natasha encouraged when I didn't say anything. "I already spoke to Wanda and she said she won't cause a scene or anything."
"I doubt that she would," I mumbled.
"She just wants you to be happy," Natasha finished. "So, be happy as my plus-one and get a cute date in with your girlfriend whilst you're there."
I tried to stifle the smile on my lips. "Elise isn't my girlfriend."
"Yet," Natasha added knowingly.
Rolling my eyes, I said, "Look, send me the details and I'll be happy to be your plus-one."
"Yes!" she exclaimed, and I could just imagine her fist-pumping like an idiot. "I'll see you then, Y/N."
"Goodbye," I told her, though a smile of amusement was playing on my lips.
After that call with Natasha, I didn't hesitate to give Elise a call, hoping I wasn't bothering her whilst she was at work.
"Hello?"
"Hey," I greeted, smiling to myself. "Is this a bad time?"
"Well, luckily for you, I'm actually just starting my lunch break," she said in a joking manner. "What's up?"
I scratched my head uncertainly. "Well, Natasha just called and invited me as her plus-one to Clint's vow renewal. She said you would be there, too, obviously, but I just wanted to check in and see if it was okay that I went."
I left out the part about her not telling me about it, but she seemed to pick up on it anyway as she breathed out slowly.
"I just don't want to step on your toes," I quickly added, before chewing on my lip.
"You could never," she said reassuringly. "I actually wanted to ask you to be my date, but I thought it may be too soon. Y'know, a vow renewal when it's only what, the sixth date in?"
"It's not too soon," I said, before adding, "I can just come as Natasha's friend and we don't have to make it a date."
"There's also the fact that your ex will be there," Elise added, and I frowned at the mention of Wanda. "I don't want you to feel uncomfortable."
"It's been six months," I told her with certainty. "I'm as comfortable as can be."
She paused. "If you think you'll be okay, then I'd love to see you there, Y/N."
"I know I'll be okay," I said promisingly. "And I'd like to go and maybe see you, too."
She laughed quietly and it made me smile. "In that case, I guess I'll see you there."
"It'll be fun," I said knowingly.
"It will," she agreed. "And now I can't wait."
It was my turn laugh. "Me either."
And fun it was... along with many other words.
The day of the vow renewal came by quickly enough and as promised, I went with Natasha as her plus-one. She made it as enjoyable as she could for me which I appreciated, with the two of us getting first-class tickets which Natasha was happy to pay for, and checking in to a beautiful hotel for the weekend. And that was just the accommodation.
The actual vow renewal was a stunning affair, as Clint and his wife, Laura, had gone all out with decorating the homestead and it's fields in a traditional, romantic way. A flower arch stood front and centre, with rows of seats set out for guests. Bouquets lined the outside and lights were strung above and all around the trees which I could only imagine would look stunning once the sun set.
"They really went all out," Natasha said, impressed as she took in the scene before us.
I hummed in agreement. "It's beautiful." I glanced at her adding, "Bet you wish you brought an actual date now."
Natasha smirked knowingly. "What's to say this isn't one? This could all be a plan to steal you away from Elise."
"Because that makes sense," I played along with amusement. "The woman who set me up with her best friend's family friend is trying to steal me away from said family friend. Makes complete sense."
"True," she said with a shrug, walking forward. I followed her as she continued, "If I was trying to make a move, you wouldn't see it coming."
I tried not to laugh. "Sure, Natasha."
"Trained assassin, expert in espionage, master of lying and hiding in plain sight," she listed off her skills one by one on her fingers. Shooting me a knowing smile, she repeated, "You wouldn't see it coming."
I rolled my eyes playfully and the two of us made the rounds, myself reacquainting with the other Avengers whom I hadn't seen since, well, since Wanda and I were together. It was a little awkward, since I was never really close with them and vice versa, but they were polite and kind and made me feel comfortable (probably because of Natasha, which gave me yet another reason to be grateful to the redhead).
Eventually, it got to a point where Wanda was the next person to say hello to and I truly thought six months would be enough to get over her; oh, how sorely mistaken I was.
She was talking to Sam Wilson, the two talking about something or the other that was clearly entertaining enough to warrant a laugh from Wanda. As we approached them, the sound of her laugh taunted me, melodic and dancing around my ears like a terrible reminder of what I couldn't have.
They spotted Natasha and I soon enough, their conversation ceasing and Wanda's laughter silencing as her eyes met mine. I tried not to let her effect me, but it became increasingly different when I noticed how beautiful she looked today, wearing a maroon-coloured dress and wearing her brown-red hair down in curls. Of course, all of that didn't compliment the giant scar on her forehead.
"Y/N, it's so good to see you!" Sam exclaimed, trying to prevent an awkwardness from occurring. "How have you been?"
I smiled his way. "I'm good, Sam. You?"
We talked for a little while, catching up, before Natasha decided to drag Sam away for a stupid, fake reason that was clearly said on purpose. Knowing I couldn't exactly stop her, I let her get away with it, figuring I'd have to face Wanda at some point.
"You look good," she spoke first, making me push a stand of my hair behind my ear to give my hands something to do.
"Thanks," I mumbled, before clearing my throat and meeting her gaze. "So do you. That's, er, that's always been your colour."
She smiled in response and I cursed inwardly, wondering why the hell I said that.
"You sound like you've been doing well," she said, referring to the conversation I had with Sam.
I nodded. "Yeah, I have."
A silence filled the air that none of us knew how to fill. I stared at my shoes so hard that I'm surprised a hole didn't form. Wanda hugged herself, unsure whether to speak or not.
"What happened to your head?" I finally thought of something, nodding to the scar.
She subconsciously reached up to touch it, though she didn't seem affected by it. "Oh, nothing. Just happened in a recent mission."
I nodded uncomfortably, never responding well to when she got injured. But she knew that.
"So, Nat said you've got a date," Wanda said, and the way she said it made me think that maybe she'd been wanting to mention it for a while. "Elise, right?"
I swallowed. "Yeah. She's just helping the Bartons out with some stuff then I'll be seeing her after."
Wanda nodded, eyes flickering between me and the floor. "That's nice. So, is it new?"
God, this was awkward.
"Kind of, yeah," I answered, not even sure why. "It's not, like, exclusive, but it's nice to move on, y'know?"
She raised her eyebrows. "Oh, so you're moving on?"
I pressed my lips together firmly. She was watching me curiously, green eyes bright with intrigue.
"I'd hope so," I answered, cocking my head to the side and watching her. "It's been six months."
She nodded, looking down. "Yeah, okay... so you're not in love with her?"
I clenched my jaw. "Is that really any of your business, Wanda?" She didn't answer, so I straightened up and avoided her eyes. "I should go. Ceremony is going to start soon."
Walking away, I left with tense shoulders and more nerves than when I headed in. She had no right to be jealous. She left me.
I found Elise just before everybody was told to take their seats for the ceremony. She apologised for missing me before, mentioning how she was helping Laura with getting ready, then proceeded to shower me in compliments which sent me into a blushing mess. After catching up, we took our seats for the ceremony and waited for it to begin.
Feeling someone's eyes on me, I glanced to my left and saw Wanda sat on the other set of rows, but she was staring right at me, lips pressed together thoughtfully. I rolled my eyes and looked ahead, ignoring her stares. As if sensing my mood, Elise grabbed ahold of my hand gently, glancing at me with a small smile as if to check that was okay. I squeezed her hand in response, letting her know it was.
Are her hands sweaty? Because they look sweaty.
I clenched my jaw and shot Wanda a glare, seeing the amused smile on her lips as she watched me.
Stay out of my head, I told her mentally, knowing she was listening, before rolling my eyes. And her hands are soft, thank you very much. Yours are the sweaty ones.
Though it was a terrible comeback, Wanda lost her smile and rolled her eyes before looking away. I tried not to let her annoying self bother me as Elise and I sat together, watching the ceremony.
It was short and sweet and though I didn't know Clint and Laura too well, it was easy to see they loved each other very much. Their vows were beautiful and it was adorable when their kids ran up to them at the end to give them a giant hug. I didn't know much, but I knew that I'd love to have a love like theirs some day.
After the ceremony came the reception, and there were loads of tables and chairs set up for guests, including a stage and dance floor next to it, perfect for a nice celebration after the vow renewal. It was all wonderful and I was excited, until I learnt that I was sat on the same table as Wanda.
Me, Elise, Natasha, Sam, Wanda and Bucky Barnes were all sat at the same table, which definitely didn't help with the awkwardness as Wanda eyed me from across the food. I tried to ignore her presence and focus on having a great time with Elise. Natasha promised that Wanda wouldn't make a scene, so I just had to believe her.
"So, what can I get you all to drink?" a waiter said, stopping by our table.
Everybody told him what they wanted and when he looked to me, I shrugged.
"Literally anything is fine with me," I said, before quickly adding, "Well, anything except gin. Not a fan of gin at all."
The waiter nodded and smiled politely. "I'm sure I can get you something good without gin."
I returned his smile as he nodded to us all once more before walking away to get our drinks.
"So, what did you think of the ceremony?" Elise asked, giving me her attention.
The two of us erupted into conversation, as did everyone else, and I was genuinely having a good time with her. The food was good, too, as were the drinks when they arrived. But the one problem was Wanda bloody Maximoff who couldn't keep her eyes away from me and was agitating me with her mere presence. I tried so hard to ignore her, but God forbid my eyes flickered over to her and she was already looking my way.
After a delicious meal and lovely conversation with the others, everybody began to get up and mingle with the other guests. I took this as my chance to steer away from Wanda and instead catch up with Natasha and hang out with Elise, who got on with everyone wonderfully. Sadly though, she had to keep nipping away to help the Bartons with some stuff for the party, but I didn't mind. I figured that was also part of the reason why she didn't invite me as her plus-one, so I didn't take it personally.
About an hour into the celebrations, I was mid-conversation with Natasha when we were interrupted by Wanda. I rolled my eyes as she looked to the redhead questioningly.
"Have you seen Clint around?" she asked. "Laura wants me to take everything from the gifts table inside and I need the key."
Natasha pursed her lips, shaking her head. As her eyes looked around for him, she said, "I'm not sure where he is..."
Before either of them could come to a conclusion, Elise appeared by my side with an apologetic smile and a drink in her hand.
"Hey," she greeted, squeezing my hand gently. "Sorry for ditching you before. I had to make sure the bar didn't run out of alcohol."
"It's all good," I told her with a small smile.
"I got you this gin cocktail to make up for it," she said sweetly, making me eye the drink like it was a bomb.
Wanda snorted suddenly, making me look to her with a glare. She tried to hide her laughter behind a smile as she looked the other way, though that didn't stop her from commenting in my mind with her obnoxious, intrusive powers.
Real good listener this one. Didn't you say you didn't like gin earlier?
I refrained from smacking her. Go away, Wanda.
"Thank you," I said to Elise gratefully, accepting the drink. "It looks great."
"Oh, I think I see Clint," Wanda said, before shooting us all a smile I'd love to punch. "Catch you later."
"See ya," Natasha said, as Elise waved and I rolled my eyes.
Dancing was fun and I liked to think I was good for an average person. So, when the DJ put on some fun music and encouraged guests to have a little dance, I immediately asked Elise to join me. Unfortunately, she wasn't exactly the most confident of dancers. She was adorably apologising as she held my hands, letting me take the lead.
"It's okay," I reassured her with a laugh. "You're doing fine."
But as she stepped on my foot for the millionth time, I could tell she thought she was doing anything but. I didn't mind though since it was amusing and cute all at the same time.
Be careful over there, Y/N. You may have been better off wearing some steel-toed shoes.
At the sound of Wanda's voice infiltrating my mind, I searched around me until I caught sight of the familiar green eyes over Elise's shoulder. She was stood to the side, entertained smile adorning her lips, as she watched Elise and I dance.
Why don't you piss off and mind your own business before I buy a pair of steel-toed shoes just to kick you with!
She didn't respond, so I focused my attention back on Elise and paused as something a little slower and more romantic played in the background. Offering an encouraging smile to Elise, I held out my hand which she accepted happily.
"Luckily, this one is pretty easy, so you might avoid bruising my feet," I joked to lighten the mood.
She flushed with embarrassment but let me pull her close as I took the lead. Subconsciously, my eyes wandered back to Wanda, who was now crossing her arms with annoyance and watching me with glowing red eyes. She had absolutely no right to be jealous. But I didn't care. It wasn't my business.
After sharing a lovely dance with Elise, the two of us took a seat at our empty table to have some water and talk. Of course, as we were chatting, our conversation was interrupted by none other than–
"Wanda," I got out through gritted teeth.
She grinned as she took a seat next to us, crossing her legs and resting her intertwined hands on her knees comfortably.
"I figured I'd introduce myself properly since we haven't really met before," Wanda explained, eyes dancing with mischief before she looked to Elise. "I'm Wanda Maximoff."
Elise smiled politely. "I'm Elise Fey. And I know who you are. A really impressive Avenger at that."
I narrowed my eyes as Wanda waved her hand dismissively. What was she playing at exactly?
"Oh, I wouldn't say that," she said bashfully. "But I guess, since you know who I am, it's only fair I return the favour. After all, you're here as Y/N's date, and as Y/N's friend, I thought it would be nice to get to know you."
"Friend," I repeated the word bitterly. "So, that's what we are now?"
Wanda chuckled, brushing off my words, before focusing on Elise. "So, what do you do, Elise?"
"I'm a veterinarian," she quipped proudly.
"How cute," Wanda said, tilting her head to the side and smiling. "How long have you been doing that?"
"Only a few years," Elise said, glancing at me with mild confusion. "It's a really rewarding job."
"I can imagine," Wanda said, before pulling a puzzled expression. "But wait, how does that work with you both? Since Y/N is allergic to pets an' all?"
Locking my jaw with agitation, I stared at Wanda's doe-eyed face. Elise looked to me with surprise.
"You are?" she asked. "Why didn't you tell me?"
I shook my head, smiling at her. "No, not really... I mean, well, rabbits. I'm allergic to rabbits. I didn't think it was a big deal."
"It kind of is," she said playfully. "What if I had treated a rabbit at work and then went on a date with you?"
I chuckled awkwardly. "Hmm, yeah, okay, maybe it's a little bit of a big deal."
She hummed disapprovingly before looking back to Wanda, who watched us both curiously.
"So, you work as a vet in New York?" she asked Elise, and I couldn't tell if she was actually interested or just trying to piss me off. When Elise nodded, she continued, "Are you from New York?"
"I'm originally from here actually," Elise said, motioning around us. "My family knew Laura's family before she married Clint. That's how I know the Bartons."
"Oh, so your parents still live here?" Wanda asked, leaning her head in the palm of her hand as she continued to question her.
"Yeah, not far from here actually," Elise answered with a smile.
Wanda nodded. "Cool... so how would that work, the whole visiting them thing? I mean, Y/N works a lot, right? And I assume you're close with your family. So, how does taking the time off to visit your parents work with you both when it's, like, 16 hours away?"
I squeezed my hands together to contain my frustration towards Wanda. Elise opened her mouth to respond, then closed it when she realised she didn't know how to answer. Her eyes darted to mine, asking for help, and I knew she was too polite to call Wanda out for her bullshit.
"We're still newly dating, Wanda," I answered through a fake smile. "We haven't even talked about meeting each other's parents, so it's not an issue right now."
"Right now," Wanda echoed my words, as if adding a double meaning. "But it will be in the future?"
I tried not to react harshly as I said, "That's not what I said."
Wanda nodded slowly, smirk tugging at her lips. Saying nothing more on the subject, she looked to Elise with dark eyes.
"It was lovely meeting you," she finished. "I'll see you around, I guess."
Elise nodded uncomfortably. "You, too, Wanda."
Shooting me a smile, she got up and left Elise and I sat there in mixed emotions. I was peeved at the Sokovian woman, not understanding why she had to try and ruin my one chance at moving on.
"I'm sorry about that," I said to Elise, a frown on my lips. "I don't know what the hell happened, but I definitely didn't expect it."
Elise chewed on her lower lip with thought. I waited patiently, wishing I knew what she was thinking. Finally, her blue eyes met mine apologetically.
"I don't think Wanda is quite over you," she said quietly. "And maybe you're not over her either, Y/N. At least not as much as you think you are."
I raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? Elise, she's just being a dick to piss me off. It's not like that."
Elise winced. "I think it is. And honestly, you're a lovely person, but I just don't want to get involved in something like that right now."
I knitted my brows together with confusion. "What do you mean?"
She rested her hand on mine atop the table. "It's probably better we stay friends. Easier."
"Elise... c'mon. We just– we only just got to know each other." I frowned, feeling bad that she didn't want to see where this would go.
"For what it's worth, today was really fun," she said with a smile, trying to make light of the situation. "And every date we've shared has been fun, too. But I can't compete with the history you share with Wanda. And I don't want to."
I didn't know what to say, speechless, unable to understand why she was doing this. Taking that as her chance to leave, she leaned forward and kissed me on the cheek before standing up and letting go of my hand.
"I'm gonna leave early," she explained. "I hope you work stuff out for yourself."
I looked up to her, watching as she smiled once more before leaving me be. We'd only been dating a few weeks, I knew that, but I still felt saddened to know she didn't want to keep things going. And with the realisation that it was because of Wanda, my sadness was quickly replaced with anger. It always came back to her.
Scowl on my face, I stood up and knew one thing: Wanda Maximoff was dead meat.

Bucky finally left your medical room after everyone cleared out. His heart rate was way too fast for his liking and he knew he needed a second, this issue wouldn’t be fixed overnight and he knew what was coming. As he walked to your shared room everyone looked at him, there was no real reason but they watched anyway. The feeling burned into his back, the hair on the back of his neck stood at attention until he turned the corner.
The moment he walked in and shut the door, Bucky threw himself back against it for support. His eyes squeezed so tight it burned and his chest moved rapidly with his breathes. Knees bent and he was curled up on the floor, though no one was in the room to see him he still covered his face as he cried, he was still getting used to being able to show himself crying. Little pleads to no one came out as whimpers as Bucky struggled to catch his breath, he was rocking back and forth but not really getting anywhere.
“Please…let her be okay…” he cried to the ceiling.
All Bucky could see was the way your face fell and your body became rigid at the sound of a command, you were such a carefree spirit that seeing you fight back against your own mind when following rules hurt Bucky. He’d never seen anything like this when he was at Hydra, he was used to the brainwashing and the large machines but Hydra got so good they could fit years of tourture into a little syringe. Bucky was either kept in a cell or put under ice, he couldn’t image what it was like to be suspended by your neck for hours on end; medical staff said the bruising indicate a total of over twenty four hours suspended.
Part of him, selfishly, wanted you to keep thinking that it was still only one day since you were kidnapped, he didn’t want you to remember what had happened to you. It was selfish and, to him, unethical to wish someone to forget a new main point in their life but he wanted you to be somewhat okay. But since you were disoriented now he knew that meant it would all come back slowly, most likely over nightmares and triggers. Simply from the way he saw your face fill with sadness when he’d wake you up in the middle of the night to tell you he had a nightmare, Bucky knew he’d be destroyed if he ever saw you deal with a nightmare, getting triggered and nightmares were the one thing Bucky never wished on his worst enemy, they were unbearable.
He needed to make the room feel safe, you’d probably stay in here for a while and slowly get used to the rest of the compound. Bucky changed the sheets and got you comfy clothes ready on the bed, it was one of his old sweaters and some loose shorts. He got the bathroom tidy because he’d get you in the shower whenever you’d wake up and come to the room, your hair care bottles were full and didn’t need to be tipped upside down.
Near the end of his cleaning session he found a polaroid on your side of the dresser, it was one Wanda took on movie night. You had just labeled yourself a couple and told the rest of the team so the both of you had begun to show a little more PDA, Bucky remembered he was still hesitant but you’d warmed up to the idea. You’d kiss him on the cheek as you walked past him in the kitchen and pull him in for a hug whenever, you were a sucker for PDA and it always made you so flustered when Bucky would kiss the top of your head. You’d lose control and just cover your face to try and hide the smile, you’d feel the blush even if you couldn’t see it. Bucky would always try and see your face, he’d pull at your hands and coo softly to see his ‘pretty girl’ which would make you a goner. So when Wanda held her polaroid camera in front of you two Bucky knew he wanted to do something special, as she counted down Bucky got ready for his little surprise. As she hit one Bucky turned his head and kissed you cheek, holding his lips there to make sure it got in the photo.
When the photo developed you swooned over it, your face was completely shocked, the camera caught your mouth hung wide open and your eyes wide. Bucky just smiled with a little pride as he watched you run your finger over the picture in love, when you tucked it in your phone case for now Bucky kissed the top of your head and turned back to the movie.
Bucky placed the picture back on the dresser before getting the door because there was a knock that kicked him out of the memory. He opened it to see Steve with you in a wheelchair, you looked stressed until you saw Bucky.
“See, he's right there, don’t worry.” Steve said before wheeling you in and handing you over to Bucky, “she’s really jumpy and thinks everything is fake, anything is going to freak her out.” Steve whispered in the exchange, Bucky looked at you with a nod, you didn’t hear them. After a hug, Steve left, the door to your room closed so softly no noise came out.
“Hey, pretty girl,” Bucky waked around so he could kneel in front of you, “what’s going on?” you still looked like a deer in headlights.
“I don't- I’m still- I can’t really-” your hand came to touch your neck, a something to soothe yourself.
“Sh-sh-sh, it’s okay, don’t freak out,” Bucky hushed before wheeling you into the bathroom, “we’re gonna give you a shower and then cuddle for a bit- or do you want food first?” Bucky leaned over to make eye contact with you, he fished for a granola bar in his back pocket and pulled it out.
“I could eat,” you nodded and looked forward again, “I-I haven’t eaten in...ten days…” you muttered and rubbed your hand up and down your forearm.
“You know what day it is?” Bucky asked and got a hum in response, he came around and sat on the toilet to match your level. “You need help eating?” Bucky asked so softly, his voice went up a few octaves.
“I-y-yeah, I think I do…'msorry…” Your eyes became a little glossy.
“Don’t worry,” Bucky hushed and quickly opened the snack, “I’m gonna be here for you all the time, and I want to be, okay?” He held out the bar for you to bite, you barely got any but it was still enough to make you feel sick.
“All I’ve had is fluid food, I can’t stomach this,” you rested a bruised hand on your stomach. Bucky nodded and tried to get you to eat a little more, it worked until you were dry heaving over the toilet that Bucky was sitting on. As Bucky took off your hospital robe as you told him the bits you remembered from your captivity, parts had come back when you were sedated but there were still major gaps in your story.
The water was running and both of you waited for it to warm up, “wanna join?” You asked as Bucky stood in his normal clothes, grey sweatpants and a navy blue shirt.
“You sure?” He asked cautiously, “I’m gonna wash your hair and all that, but I can do that from outside the shower if you want some space.” Bucky eased, but when you nodded he got undressed as well.
You stepped in first and almost collapsed at how calming it felt, the water pellets massaging your sore back and legs. Bucky let you hold his shoulders as you just swayed back and forth to let the water hit everywhere on your backside, he would kiss the back of your hand from time to time to let you know he was here because your eyes were closed. You tilted your head all the way back so the water hit your face, eyes squinted for a second before getting used to it.
Bucky just took in that you were home, he’d spent all his time going from place to place in order to find you, he didn’t give himself time to breathe in between each trip. Bucky knew he would’ve felt guilty if he gave one day to rest during the mission to find you, he would have blamed everything on himself. Even though he still does blame it on himself Bucky knows he never gave up during those times which meant he could’ve found you sooner; that was a hard pill to swallow.
The shower floor was beginning to turn dark red, the mud and blood were swirling together which made a very stark contrast between it and the while tile floor. It was a shower with a door but the panel was frosted, it made it seem like this was the only thing happening in the world right then. Time seemed to stop when he was in here with you, you’d taken showers together before but not for the same reason, Bucky never thought he’d have to deal with this. There wasn’t a light in the shower itself so the only light came through the frost panel, it was darker than normal and it seemed you both liked it. It was more intimate, Bucky didn’t even realize he was edging closer to you. His hand found its way to your hips and that did startle you, you squeezed his shoulders and kept your head tilted back to the showerhead.
“I love you,” Bucky whispered, his fingers linking as he wrapped his arms all the way around you. He was met with your eyes as you looked down, now the water was hitting the back of your head. “Thank you for not dying, I-I don’t know what I would do without you.” He reached up to cup your cheek.
Your lip quivered as you studied the man before you, he seemed freaked out that you were crying. “Do you remember the night I got taken?” your voice was thick with tears, “you yelled you loved me and I said-” you gasped as you tried to take a breath in, Bucky quickly eased you to a normal breathing rate, “I said I’d tell you I love you after all this would be done, I said we’d be okay…” you looked off to the tiled wall to try and hide your tears, “I never said I love you, I never got the chance, and I’m so sorry-!” You lunged forward with a yell-like sob, your arms wrapping around his neck as you cried hard into him. Little sounds were coming from you as you tried to talk but the lack of air and control you had over yourself didn’t let you form a syllable. Your back ridged outward as your dirty nails clawed at his back, trying to get closer even though you were already as close as possible. “I remembered it when I woke up, I needed to find you to tell you, I needed-I need-”
“It’s okay,” Bucky whispered through your slightly wet and clumpy hair, his hand cupping the back of your head which made your hair more tangled. “I always know you love me, It’s okay.” His other hand rubbed hard against your back, almost trying to push everything out of you, it wasn’t aggressive but rather soothing. “And you're right, we are going to be okay, doll.” His lips ghosted against the shell of your ear.
You pulled your chest away, your eyes looking between his, “I’m not okay,” you cried, “how can I be? I’m missing part of my nose!” you screamed, your voice cracked as the bruise shifted on your neck.
“It will grow back, it will be okay,” he looked down to your nose, it wasn’t sliced at the bridge but rather the bulb, it was all cartilage and if it didn’t grow back then it would be an easy job to fix.
He stood there with you as you cried on his shoulder, he was silently thanking Tony for the great facility because anywhere else would have left them with cold water at that this point. Though your knees were shaking and buckling he held your body weight and kept you up so you, every so often he’d whisper something in your ear but for the most part he let you cry it all out. You’d do this to him so many times, you had told him once when Bucky was crying over a very scary mission that ‘you shouldn’t stop someone from crying when they’re upset like you wouldn’t stop someone from laughing when they're happy’. You needed to let go of those emotions at that time and Bucky learned to be okay with that.
Soon enough he was scrubbing deep into your hair as he talked about all the things he could think of to keep your mind off the elephant in the room, he’d focus on your hair but then quickly look at your face to make sure you were okay. Sometimes he’d catch you looking and quickly plant a kiss on your forehead. His fingers tangled in your hair and the suds fell down the side of your face, none got in your eyes because they had fluttered shut from the relaxation.
The water shut off and Bucky helped you dry off, he was gentle with the towel as he rubbed all around your body, when he dried himself he’d go hard and really uncoordinated but with you he treated you like glass. You were swaddled in your comfy clothes and Bucky stood beside you as you put on some moisturizer, he’d look between your reflection and you to make sure nothing was going wrong, a hand hovered over your back just to be safe.
“You wanna try eating?” He asked softly before kissing your temple.
You just nodded, your head stayed tilted down as you followed him out of the bathroom. Bucky didn’t think people would be in the kitchen and they weren’t. As Bucky made you a sandwich Nat had walked in just to say hi and to tell you she was so happy you came back, Nat placed a little kiss on the crown of your head; that was unheard of from her.
Sam made an appearance, his eyes were misty and his nose was a little red. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help, Fury needed help with another mission but it ended up falling through and- I’m just really sorry I couldn’t be there for you, honestly.” Sam rubbed your back as you nodded.
“It’s okay, I forgive you, I was never really mad.” You shrugged and Sam gave one last farewell before heading into his room for the night.
As you ate your food, Bruce came into the kitchen. Bucky just wanted you to have some space but was shocked when Banner called for him. “Barnes,” Bruce’s voice startled you a bit.
Bucky followed Bruce around the hall so you were out of earshot. “I know a way to get this serum out of her,” was what he started with. Bucky just looked at him like he was crazy, “we tested her blood and it seemed her body is rejecting a bit, it hasn’t really connected like the super soldier serum has with you and Steve, these are completely different compounds in her case.” Bruce leaned over to make sure she wasn’t listening, “my lab is making an antidote that will be given to her once in pill form, she’ll be down for a day but the antidote will fight off this serum,” Banner smiled.
“What are the risks?” Bucky whispered even though you weren’t listening.
“A really intense cold, and maybe...y’know...it might not work, that’s a thing.” Bruce shrugged, “but it will work, I’m very confident.” Bruce looked off to the side, “oh!” something had popped into his mind, “I can also get her nose filled, while she was sedated we looked and because her body is fighting against the serum we found the decaying has slowed.”
Bucky took a deep breath before nodding, “run it by her tomorrow, she needs some time.” the two of them shook hands and went their separate ways, Bucky made his way back to the kitchen counter to see a sandwich with three bites taken out of it. “How are we doing over here?” Bucky's hand felt along your back as he sat down.
“I can’t finish it, I’m sorry,” You said softly, you pushed the plate towards him.
“That’s alright, let’s go to bed, yeah?” Bucky eased you up and walked you to the bedroom again.
It took a while to get you rested but once your breath steadied Bucky shifted and put your head on his bare chest, he just wanted to watch you for a bit. As much as he wanted to give you space he couldn’t imagine leaving your side for a second, he knew it might bug you but he didn’t care. You were his girl and needed to help you when you were down, he was going to pull your weight when you couldn’t because he couldn’t count how many times you’d done it for him.
A tear rolled down his cheek and he rubbed his back, “I’m so sorry,” he whispered, “I should have done better, I shouldn’t have run out when you told me to, I should have stayed and fought all of them when they attacked, I-I,” he pulled his breath back to make sure he wasn’t waking you up, “I’m the reason this happened, and I’ll do better,” he kissed the top of your head, his eyes squeezed so tight some tears managed to get out, “I promise.”

Hi val! Got a request, it's okay if you don't wanna write it, but can you write about peter telling the reader he's going on a huge mission and he's excited about it but the reader is so worried they end up arguing? But when peter gets back from mission all bruised, the reader is still upset but dresses his wound anyway and it ends up with fluff??

a/n: woah woah woah i ended up writing way more than i expected but i loved this request so much :,) i hope you do too
-
“we’re staying in this, like, super fancy castle while we’re there. it’s gonna be awesome,” peter rambles to you. he takes all the clean shirts in his drawer and throws them into a suitcase.
he’s packing for a mission in europe with the avengers, and you’re here to say goodbye. you’ve been pretty quiet while peter gives you as many details as he’s allowed to. it’s always an honor when the team invites him on. he gets so stoked about it. you’re happy he’s happy and gets to pursue his passion, but you’ve noticed a pattern.
every time peter leaves the country with earth’s mightiest heroes, he comes back in worse condition than the last. it seems like they protect everyone except peter. he’s oblivious to the fact that the end result is always his suffering. he’s just glad to be there. really, he gets nothing in return except scars that never heal, not even a permanent spot on the team.
so, you’re not thrilled he agreed to go.
“plus, i get to miss two weeks of school.” peter beams, getting onto his knees to zip the suitcase. “feels like a vacation almost.” “you like school, though,” you remind him. you’re sat at the edge of his bed while you watch, rather than help. he hops up again with a shrug. “i like vacations more.” “it’s not a vacation,” you mutter to yourself, then speak up.
“how are you gonna catch up? that’s a lot of missing assignments.” with that same innocent smile, peter walks over to you. he grabs both your hands and laces your fingers together. “i’m a fast learner. besides, ned said he’d help me.” you sigh, looking down at the floor so you don’t have to look at peter. “or, you could. make it into a little study date when i get back,” he suggests while playing with your fingers.
“i don’t even want you to go,” you finally admit and meet his sparkling eyes. nothing could ever dull them. “why not? you’re gonna miss me?” peter teases, pressing a couple of kisses to your palm. “you don’t have to. i’m pretty sure france has wifi.” he wiggles his eyebrows. “oui oui, mademoiselle, eh?” despite yourself, you giggle at his french accent and tug on his hands. he sits down next to you with a chuckle.
“nat has been giving me lessons,” peter explains, you quirking an eyebrow. “she speaks french?” “she speaks a lot of languages, actually. she’s so cool.” peter scoots closer to you and sets his hands on your waist, his voice dropping. “you’d love her.” your face twists up in confusion at the idea.
you don’t have anything against the avengers, obviously. they’re good people. you’re just not the biggest fan of them at the moment, considering the circumstances they’ve put peter under.
“peter, i don’t want you to go,” you repeat more seriously than before. your teeth sink into your lower lip. “and, it’s not because i’ll miss you.” “none taken,” peter jokes, implying there should’ve been a no offense. he then realizes how distressed you look, so he cuts it out. “sorry, sorry. i’m done now. how come?”
you take his hand again and hold it tight. “what if you get hurt?” you ask in the nicest way possible, out of care. “i don’t wanna see you hurting, pete. this mission sounds really... dangerous.” he runs his thumb over the back of your hand, his grin faltering a bit. “it is, but i’m ready for it. i’ll be fine.”
you’re not convinced yet. that line he likes to overuse isn’t enough to do the trick.
his eyes searching for yours, peter brushes a piece of your hair back. “have a little faith in me, babe.” “no, i... i do. i have the most faith in you, peter.” you find yourself frowning as he twirls your locks around his finger. “that’s not the problem.” peter’s voice becomes a whisper. “what is it, then? talk to me.”
you do the opposite because you’re afraid you’ll upset him further, which is the last thing he needs right now. your silence prompts peter to fill it. “would it make you feel better if i say mr. stark is keeping an eye on me?” he’s smiling sheepishly, you scoffing. “oh, like he kept an eye on you in amsterdam?”
the only eye related activity that happened there was peter almost losing one of his. he’d come back with an eyepatch and couldn’t see out of it for over a month. to this day, there’s still a bit of blood in it when you look close enough.
“i already told you, that was my fault,” peter grumbles, turning so he faces forward. “i didn’t listen to him-“ “who gives a shit? he’s the one who put you in that situation!” you blurt out. you’ve been way too patient this whole time, and now you’re reaching your breaking point. “you say that like i didn’t wanna be there.” peter clenches his jaw, still mostly calm.
“either way, mr. stark,” you mock what peter always calls him, “was supposed to keep you safe, and he didn’t. i’m scared it’s gonna happen again.” letting out a noise close to a growl, peter stands up from the bed. “you’re not listening to me, y/n. everything was fine. i just-“ you’re not in the mood to hear him make excuses, so you interrupt.
“do you know any other sixteen year olds who fight literal terrorists on their free time?” you rhetorically ask and get to your own feet. peter tries to walk away from you, only you follow him. “you’re a kid, peter, in case you forgot.” he spins around to give you a nasty look. “do you know any other sixteen year olds who stick to fucking walls?”
your heart starts to race from his sudden outburst. he’s scary when he’s mad, and he almost never gets mad at you. all you can do is blink dumbly. “didn’t think so,” peter spits. “this is what i’m supposed to do, help people. is that so wrong?” his breathing becomes ragged as his anger grows.
“what about you? are you helping yourself?” you speak softly, expecting an answer this time. “you’re not my fucking therapist, y/n,” he deflects the question. “i am your girlfriend, though. i care about you so much, you know that.” eyebrows furrowed in concern, you reach out for peter. he takes a step back. it doesn’t take long for tears to cloud your vision.
“i was excited to share this with you, and i thought you’d be happy for me.” peter balls his hands into fists at his sides. his voice stays low. “instead, you made it all about yourself. you can never let me enjoy team stuff.” you’re speechless, peter nodding as he lets his words sit. “thanks for the support.”
“you’re an asshole,” you laugh out bitterly and wipe under your eyes.
he didn’t mean to make you cry. he was so caught up in himself, he didn’t realize you were.
peter’s whole demeanor changes. “y/n, baby...” he attempts to put a hand on your cheek, but you hit it away. “get off of me. what did i just say?” you sniffle, your tone harsh in contrast. “you’re an asshole, peter.” he changes his mind about feeling bad. you’ve berated him way more than he did you, anyway.
“you should go. i have to be up early,” peter decides, even though he’d said you could stay the night. whatever, you don’t want to anymore. “fine,” you agree shortly. “i’m leaving.” he stands there while you collect your things, shoving them into your bag. you’re going slow enough so he has a chance to stop you. he doesn’t.
you pass by him on your way to his door, sucking in a breath. here’s your official goodbye. “see you later, peter. don’t die.” “mhm, i won’t,” he replies, his tongue poking at his cheek. with one more shared look between you two, you make your grand exit, no doubt informing may of her nephew’s behavior before you’re gone.
peter immediately regrets the way he talked to you, and that you’re leaving things like this. you were only trying to protect him. you’ll never be able to save the city like he does, so this is how you do it. he truly is an asshole for not seeing that.
frustration consuming him, peter kicks over his fully stuffed suitcase, its contents spilling out. he grits his teeth.
“fan-fucking-tastic.”
-
you don’t talk to peter the whole two weeks he’s gone except for some are you alive and yes texts. he’d called you quite a few times, and was sent to voicemail for all of them. he gave you the benefit of the doubt because of timezones.
it was actually because you declined, which peter knew deep down was the real reason.
he’s coming home from his mission today. you’re not sure when or if he plans on dropping by. you’re not sure you’d like him to, either. you don’t really get a choice in the end.
there’s a series of knocks at your window, at some ungodly time in the night. you’re all too familiar with this routine. it’s peter.
you slip out from under your covers, a scowl already painting your face as you go to the window. surely enough, peter is perched in front of it, clad in red and black. the suit must be new because you’ve never seen it. you push up the window and step aside so he can get through.
“thanks,” peter mumbles, climbing into your room less gracefully than usual. he’s sort of wobbly when he lands. “yeah,” you dully acknowledge. “how was france?” “uh, good. you know, lots of cheese and all that.” his voice is muffled from his mask, since he hasn’t taken it off yet. that’s odd. “i was talking about the mission, but cool,” you almost laugh back.
“the mission was... fine,” peter clarifies and scratches the back of his neck. he never describes something as simply being ‘fine.’ when the boy talks, he lectures. you’re starting to get worried. “that’s good. at least you didn’t die, right?” you say to lighten the mood. peter awkwardly chuckles. “haha, yeah. thank god for that.”
you hum and walk over to sit on your bed, peter staying where he is. “what time did you get back?” you wonder, a completely harmless question. “um, this morning,” he says in response, raising your suspicions. “why’re you still in the suit, then?” you squint at him. “i like it, by the way.” “thanks, y/n/n. i, uh,” peter trails off, no good explanations coming to mind.
you’re quickly developing a hunch for what what down. you wordlessly get up again, meeting peter by your window. he’s nervous to see what happens next. peter’s shoulders slump when your fingers land on his mask. you carefully lift it, revealing his face to you. his banged up, bloody face.
“surprise.” peter musters up a grin, you tossing the mask at his chest. you’re beyond angry now. it’s not at him, athough it is at his injuries. “please don’t be mad,” he nearly begs, you shaking your head. you go to leave your room for some space. peter’s fingers wrap around your wrist, pulling you back. “i should’ve listened to you, okay? i’m sorry,” he genuinely apologizes.
you still don’t say anything while you look over his beaten body. there’s a gash with stitches in it on his chin, a deep slice across the bridge of his nose, cuts littering his cheeks. he’s even got a busted lip for good measure. this might be the worst condition he’s let you see him in.
“you were right, y/n. i think... i think i’m gonna sit the next one out. it’s too much for me, clearly,” peter continues, fingers sliding down to lock with yours. “you should say you told me so.” “how... how did this happen?” you manage to get out instead. “the bad guy fought me,” he says with the hint of a smirk. “i won, though.”
it’s a relief that he’s handling this so well, even earning a laugh from you. that puts you more at ease.
“this is probably a dumb question, but are you okay?” you brush your thumb over peter’s cheekbone gently, avoiding his scratches. “not really. my face hurts a lot, and flash is gonna tease the hell out of me on monday.” his lips form a line, arms looping around your waist. it’s very much welcomed by you.
“you just spent two weeks trying not to die, and you’re worried about flash?” you snicker and draw a heart on his skin. peter shrugs a shoulder. “he’s so mean to me.” he brings you in closer to him. “besides, this is the normal kid stuff i should be focusing on.” you’re glad he finally came to terms with that. you’ve been saying it for the longest time.
you smile wickedly at him. “exactly. so is all that homework you have to make up.” peter lets out a breathy laugh, you laying your head on his chest. “i missed you,” he tells you quietly. “really wish i could kiss you right now.” “i missed you too, pete. so much,” you murmur into him. your hands settle on his biceps. “and, i forgive you.” “thanks, baby,” peter exhales.
“of course. once your lips are healed,” you pull back from his chest, making a kissing noise. “pucker up, lover- oh my god.” you’re looking up at him with wild eyes. peter gets reasonably startled from it. “what? what’s wrong?” “you... you’re bleeding!” you point at his stitches. he winces, touching the spot. there’s blood, alright.
“crap. do you have a bandaid or something?” peter gives you an apologetic smile. “mr. stark said i should cover them when this happens.” maybe, tony isn’t so bad after all. you nod and take him by his hand. “yeah, in the bathroom. come with me.”
peter sits on the edge of your bathtub while you patch up his chin. he tells you more about the fun parts of his mission, you placing the cinderella bandaid over his gash. you have those from a while ago and also regular ones. however, he preferred the princess design.
“you saw the real mona lisa? like, in person? that’s insane.” you grin, smoothing down peter’s bandaid one last time. “yeah, she’s even prettier up close.” peter returns the smile. “thanks for taking care of me, y/n. i swear i don’t deserve you sometimes.” now pouting at him, you crouch down so you’re at his level. “it’s the other way around, peter.”
“let’s just agree to disagree,” he concludes and tucks a stray hair behind your ear. “i love you, okay?” “i love you, too.” you press a light kiss to his bandaid, getting a giggle from peter.
yeah, it’s going to be hell finding replacements for his lips.

Maybe you didn’t grow up like a normal teen, or maybe you were just shy, either way you had never played the game ‘Seven Minutes In Heaven.’ You knew what it was but you’d never played it. And how strange it was that the first time you would be at a party hosted by Tony Stark. You’d think that super heroes between the ages of twenty and one thousand five hundred years old wouldn’t play that kind of game. But at that point you couldn’t put anything past your makeshift family.
Everyone other than you, Clint, Bruce, Tasha, Tony, Steve, Thor, Wanda, and Pietro had left already. You couldn’t blame them. It was four in the morning and the music was on full blast all night. Most of the guests would be going home with headaches and waking up with them too.
Most of the group was drinking. Everyone other than Steve, who couldn’t feel the side effects of alcohol. So if you really thought about Steve was going to be the only one with a sound mind. You and Wanda both had a drink or two, but not enough to be drunk, just a little tipsy. The most drunk was Thor, which didn’t surprise you in the slightest.
Natasha finished off her beer, the last resort when it came to drinking in her opinion, and set it down on the circular table you were all seated around.
“Let’s play a game,” she suggested, wiping her mouth with her sleeve.
“What’d you have in mind?” Thor asked.
“How about,” she smirked, looking at you and Wanda, “seven minutes in heaven?” She shot you a wink, knowing how bad you had it for Wanda. If that was her idea of a way to get you to confess, maybe she was on the right track. The liquid confidence flowing through you was more than you normally had and what other time would you have the guts to say something?
“What is that?” Thor asked. “Are we supposed to take turns killing someone and then bringing them back to life after seven minutes?”
You threw your head back and laughed, and Thor grinned too even though he didn’t know what was so funny.
“No, it’s where you take turns picking two people to go into a closet or room or whatever and set a timer for seven minutes and you can’t let them out until the time is up. And usually what they’re supposed to do is kiss and make out and such.” Natasha explained it so well that you questioned how many times she had played the game.
“Ah, I see. Well let’s get on with it!” Thor shouted.
Tony was slouched down in the seat next to him and swatted at his arm. “Keep it down would ya? I’ll play the game as long as no one’s too loud. My head is already throbbing.”
Clint chuckled, “Are you sure all that alcohol is good for your… machine there?”
Tony rolled his head over to look at Clint with a glare. “My machine is perfectly fine, thank you.”
“Whatever you say.”
“Would you grandpas quit it? We’re trying to play a game,” Wanda huffed.
“Yeah, yeah, just start already.” Tony tossed his hand up in the air and waved you guys on without much effort, making his wrist look like jelly.
“Okay, Tony since you have so much to say, why don’t you go first?” Natasha asked.
“I think I will.” He sat up and looked around surveying the group. He did that for a good two minutes before he finally said anything. “I choose… Natasha and Steve.”
Steve, who had been silent that whole time, looked over at Natasha, who wiggled her eyebrows and started to get up. Steve followed and you noticed how he had a little pep in his step. From what you could tell three out of the five original male Avengers had a crush on Nat. You couldn’t blame them, she was gorgeous.
You picked up your phone and started the timer for seven minutes as soon as the broom closet door shut. Wanda, who was sitting next to you, looked over and watched the time tick down.
“What do you think they’re up to?” she asked. Her small smirk and half lidded eyes were enough to make you catch your breath. She wasn’t trying to look seductive but she sure did to you.
“I don’t know,” you confessed. “What do you think Pietro?” To alleviate the pressure of looking and talking to Wanda you addressed Pietro, hoping the attention would no longer be on you.
Your crush's twin leaned forward and looked at you from across Wanda. “I bet they’re kissing. I don’t think the Captain would do anything more than that for a game.” You heard Bruce make a noise from across the table but you didn’t pay him any mind. You knew he liked Nat too, but he never made a move on her, so he couldn’t get mad.
“I’m not so sure, brother. Maybe Natasha wants to do more than that. I could see something happening between those two.” Wanda furrowed her brow and squinted her eyes up at the ceiling, thinking.
There was more random talking for a few minutes until your phone began to chime, signaling that their time was up.
“Guys!” you shouted, “Times up!”
“Oh my god I’m going to bed.” Tony got up from the couch and left the room, scowling all the way there. Meanwhile the door to the broom closet had opened, and out stepped Natasha and Steve. There was no visible sign of them doing anything, but you still eyed them suspiciously. Tasha caught your eye and smiled before reclining back in her seat.
“So I guess I’ll choose next. I want Y/N and,” she eyed each of the players left before settling on the person next to you. “Wanda.”
On the inside you were beaming and your heart was fluttering. On the outside you were nervous. Butterflies erupted in your stomach at the sudden feat. Wanda wasted no time and shot up from her seat. With enlarged eyes you stared up at the red head, who was wearing a smirk on her face.
"Come on beautiful, it's our turn." She beckoned you to follow her and you did, trailing behind her with wolf whistles in your wake. Once you two were gone Natasha and Pietro shared a smile. They both knew your feelings, and talked about their plan to get you two together. Pietro was able to get his sister to admit that she had feelings for you earlier that night, and the operation was a go from there.
Wanda's sultry smile wasn't disappearing. She was beyond happy that you were paired together. She shut and locked the door behind you, and pressed you against it. Your breath hitched and your whole body was tingling and on edge. Wanda's skilled hands held onto your waist and her breath was on your neck.
In her seductive Sokovian accent she said, “I’ve been wanting to do this for months.” Her lips pressed against the soft and sensitive skin on the center column on your neck, sucking and nibbling on it. You had been holding a breath the whole time, but when her skin touched yours your mouth fell open and a moan escaped involuntarily. Wanda grabbed hold of your hair and pulled back, giving her more access to mark you.
Your hands were shaky, and she could tell how nervous you were. She pulled back and slipped her hands into yours. “If you don’t want to do this I can understand,” she said while she looked into your eyes. All forms of seduction were gone, she was genuinely concerned about you.
You shook your head so fast it felt like your brain was spinning. “No, no. I do want this. I’m just nervous. I really like you and I don’t want to mess up.”
“You don’t have to worry about that. I don’t know what I’m doing either, I’m just going with the flow… and doing what feels right.” She put one of her hands on your cheek, the metal of one of her rings stinging against the warmth of your face.
“We can take this as slow as you like,” Wanda whispered.
You bit your bottom lip and nodded, but Wanda pulled your lip out with her thumb. She looked you in the eye and hesitated for some sign for her to go on. You took the chance to lean in, capturing her lips with yours. She was an amazing kisser, though you couldn’t say much, you hadn’t kissed many people before. Her kiss was electric, sending jolts through your entire body, even places you didn’t know could be affected by a simple kiss.
Your back arched into her, pressing your crotch against hers. She moaned, tugging on your lip. Her hands went to your behind, landing on your butt and squeezing it tight. Even after her words she could sense your hesitancy.
“Go ahead, beautiful, explore me.”
You did as told, letting your hands trail up her stomach under her shirt and up to the lacy fabric of her bra. To support her weakening knees she slotted one in between your legs, hiking up the fabric of your dress and pressing her slacks against your wet underwear. You scooted further down the door, making the fabric rub even more. Without thinking you started to slide back and forth on her thigh. Wanda thought it was sexy, seeing you getting on with her leg, rubbing your slick cunt against her for relief.
You realized what you were doing and panicked, eyes shooting open in alarm. She laughed quietly, the ring in her voice more beautiful than anything else you had heard before. It eased your nerves and when she told you to go on you weren’t so nervous anymore.
Wanda helped you, putting her hands on your hips to guide you and moving her thigh to meet your movement. You held onto her shoulders, head falling forward and hair fanning around your face. Wanda wanted to see your face. She thought it was beautiful. She tilted your head back up so she could look at you. You tried to hide your face, somewhat embarrassed by how much pleasure you were getting out of the experience.
“You don’t have to shy away, I think you look amazing. Even when you’re moaning,” she added with a smirk.
“Wanda,” you started, trying to tell her that it wasn’t true.
“Shh, you don’t have to say anything. Just ride me until you cum darling.”
You did. You kept on riding her, at some point pulling your panties to the side so your bare pussy was against her. You were moaning for sure, but you tried to stay quiet, knowing that everyone outside would hear if you were too loud. Your peak was near, not too much to go until you would have your orgasm right there on Wanda’s pants.
“Okay love birds! Time’s up!” Natasha yelled from the other side of the door. You gasped, the feeling of Wanda’s thigh leaving you. You squeezed your thighs together in an attempt to appease yourself but it was to no use.
“We’ll continue this later,” Wanda whispered. She could tell you were struggling but everyone would know what you were up to if you stayed any longer, they may even open the door themselves. You pulled your dress back down and got yourself situated and Wanda checked over you, making sure that you looked presentable.
She opened the door and everyone was staring. Heat, unbearable, searing heat, rose to your face, undoubtedly turning it scarlet. You scurried to your seat and tried to drown in the couch. Wanda excused herself, walking to the bathroom with your eyes trailing after her. You weren’t sure what she was going to do, but she was actually going to clean your juices off her pants. As much as she would have loved to represent you, she knew how embarrassed you would be if everyone saw the glistening on the black fabric.
