“What looks better? Pearls or Diamonds?” you ask and hold up two pairs of earrings.
“Diamonds. It matches the sparkles on your dress.”
“Thanks.”
Arendella watches you slip on the subtle sparkly dress for tonight’s dinner with the royal family. You slip on the earrings and fix your hair to give it more volume. Thor better melt when he sees you because you look hot.
“Do you think going to this dinner is a good idea?”
“I have to go. It’s for his parents. They’re getting on his ass about being in a steady relationship before he gets to be crowned King.”
“You’re okay with this arrangement still?”
Your mistake is hesitating before answering her. She raises one eyebrow and you turn away from her so you don’t see the judgement in her eyes.
“Yes.”
“Have you told him how you felt about him?”
“It doesn’t matter, Del,” you sigh. “It’s all fake anyway.”
Arendella gets up and walks in front of you. She pushes some of your hair back behind your shoulders and makes you look better.
“Trust me, it does matter.”
“Not when it comes to him. He’s only doing this for one reason and one reason only: his parents. He wants to be King. That’s it.”
“One of these days this whole thing will blow up in your face.”
“It won’t be tonight.” Your doorbell rings and you look out the window to see the car Thor’s parents sent for you. “That’s the car. I gotta go.”
“Have fun. Tell me everything tomorrow.”
Arendella is right. You wish you could tell Thor just how much he means to you. In the beginning, this was purely a business relationship. Date Thor to get his parents off his back while he continues to do what he does best. His mother told him that in order to be King, he must be in a relationship with someone who is wife material. He saw you walking by the castle and decided you were going to play the part.
It was nice to be treated like royalty with riches beyond compare, eating out in fancy restaurants, wearing nice clothes, and meeting all sorts of people from different Worlds across the Nine Realms. It was a good thing because you got to play the doting girlfriend every so often when his parents were back on Asgard.
However, the time more you two spent together, the more you saw Thor for the man he is. You allowed yourself to fall for him even though you promised yourself you weren't going to do that. You’ve been playing the part for so long that you want to be in the role permanently. Maybe Arendella has a point. Maybe tonight is the night you come clean to Thor about your feelings for him.
His parents are hosting an important dinner with the other royal families of the Nine Realms excluding Midgard (Earth). There are so many rulers on Earth that it would be a hassle to get them all. Thor thinks that he is going to be announced as King tonight which is why you’re going.
You meet Thor outside with a smile. He pulls you into a hug and rubs your back in comfort. You’re not used to this kind of behavior from him since he’s usually at a distance from you. You hear the camera clicks from onlookers nearby and you understand why he’s being so affectionate toward you.
He opens the car door for you and allows you to go inside first, and he quickly follows. As soon as the doors are closed, he’s back to being cold Thor. He only cares about one thing and that’s to be King. He’ll do anything for it… and you though Loki was bad.
“Is your whole family going to be there?” you ask.
“Yes.”
He takes out his phone and smiles as he texts someone. Earth has had such a huge impact on Asgard. Since returning from it, Thor has brough over cell phones, WiFi, cars, and other modern things.
“Is what I’m wearing okay?”
“You look fine,” he says without looking at you.
The hint he’s giving you is received. You decide to look out the window because you’re afraid if you stare at him, you’ll start to cry. The car gets to the castle, and you and thor walk hand-in-hand through the big golden gates. Frigga and Odin wait in the foyer eagerly for their son’s return.
“Lady Y/N! It’s so good to see you again,” Frigga smiles and brings you into a hug.
Odin stands next to her as stoic as ever and Loki is only there because he has to be.
“Frigga. It’s good to see you, too,” you smile.
“Come, the others are waiting.”
Thor, Odin, and Frigga walk off together, leaving you and Loki behind. Loki knows something is up between you and his brother but he’s not entirely sure. Though, when he sees him not even pay attention to you, he’s closer to his theory.
“My brother is an idiot if he doesn’t realize who he has on his arm.”
“Thanks?”
“Just saying. You’re worth more than that oaf.”
The dining room is filled with royal people and their bodyguards. The dinner starts off without a hitch, and you find yourself actually enjoying the presence of everyone. You look over at Thor to see him with a huge smile on his face as he tells his stories from battle. Sif is next to him with a big smile on her face as she adds in her own feats.
Thor is in a good mood. You decide that you’ll tell himhow you feel when the dinner is over with. Toward the end, Odin stands up and grabs everyone attention.
“As you all may know by now, I am nearing the end of my reign as King of Asgard. In my place shall be my first born, Thor. I have no doubt that he will make an excellent King. Please treat him as such.” Odin turns to Thor who smiles at him. “My dear boy, there will be many things you will need to do once you become King, but that may not start until you have become successful in your relationship.”
“We want you two to get married here tomorrow,” Frigga interrupts happily.
“What?” you say and look at Thor.
“You need a Queen to rule by your side,” Frigga says. “What better way than to have the wedding here with everyone in attendance?”
You have to keep up the facade while you’re in a room full of royals, so you place your hand on Thor’s muscular shoulder.
“We would be honored.”
“A toast, then.” Odin raises his glass and everyone follows suit. “To Thor and Y/N.”
“To Thor and Y/N!” everyone repeats.
You’re too busy thinking about the thought of marrying Thor to enjoy the rest of the dinner. Arendella would have a field day if she knew this is happening. At the end of dinner, Thor is trying to escort you out of the castle so he can talk to his parent privately but Frigga interrupts his plans.
“You must sleep over here tonight. You and Thor can have the big bedroom.”
“No, Mother, she needs to go home.”
“Nonesense! Please? It’ll be better for all of us if she stays here tonight.”
Thor and Frigga look at you with two very different looks. Thor looks like he doesn't want you here but Frigga lokos hopeful. You smile tightly and nod in agreement.
“One night won’t kill us.”
“I’m glad. Follow me.”
Thor hangs back slightly so he can talk to you as you follow his mother to the room you’ll be staying in.
“I thought you wanted to go home.”
“It’s one night, Thor. Plus, you need to talk to them. They think we’re getting married. I think we should talk.”
“Please, if you need something, don’t be a stranger. Odin and I are right down the hall and Loki is across the way.”
“Thank you, Mother, but I think we’ll be fine. I’ll see you and Father in the morning.” Thor kisses his mom on the head and she leaves you two alone. When the door closes, Thor becomes a different person again. He grabs one of the pillows and a blanket from the bed. “You can have the bed.”
“Where are you going to sleep?”
“The couch.”
“Thor, I think you’re being a bit dramatic. It’s just a bed, and we’re only going to be sleeping. Is being next to me so bad?”
Thor takes a moment too long to think about this.
“I guess not.”
Thor takes the right side of the bed while you take the left, and you get into bed next to him. It’s a nice California King bed with a lot of space, and he’s taking advantage of the fact that he doesn’t have to be near you.
“Thor, can we talk, please?” you whisper.
“Y/N, please go to bed. It’s late.”
The silence between you two is deafening. This should be your answer. He doesn’t want to talk to you. He doesn’t want to be with you. Maybe you’re doing yourself a favor by not saying anything. Or maybe he’ll realize what an amazing woman you are once you two are married. Regardless, you stare at his back until you fall asleep.
When you wake up, Thor isn’t besides you in bed. You sigh and grab your phone to see what time it is.
Tell Thor how you feel or else you’ll regret it.
You ignore the message from Arendella and fet up for the day. You get dressed in the clothes Frigga had laid out for you and walk aimlessly around the castle. She is inside the kitchen with a chef who is cooking her breakfast.
“Ah, Y/N, good morning.”
“Good morning. Where is Thor?”
“He’s out with Odin. They should be back soon. Are you excited?”
“For what?”
“Your wedding day, of course! I have a bunch of things planned for us to do. First, I want you to have breakfast and rest.”
“You’re too kind to me,” you smile and sit at the table.
“I’ve always wanted a daughter,” she winks at you.
Her knowing the secret between you two is going to break her heart. She has been nothing but kind to you since you first started dating Thor, and you don’t know if you have the heart to tell her the truth.
Thor and Odin return within the hour but neither of them look happy. Odin goes straight to Frigga without so much as a look at you so he can talk to her privately.
“Thor, I really need to talk to you.” Thor gestures for you to follow him so you do, but you frown when he keeps walking instead of stopping to face you. “Listen, I don’t even know how to say this, but--”
“This isn’t working out,” he cuts you off.
“What?”
“I came clean to my father about us. He knows the relationship is fake.”
“Why would you do that? Don’t you want to be King?”
“I found someone else,” your heart cracks with every word he says, “someone who I love. Thank you for what you did but you’re no longer needed.”
And now your heart is on the floor in pieces.
“You’re done with me? Just like that?”
“I’m sorry for how this is ending.”
Thor doesn’t see any use in stickin around so he retreats to a different part of the castle. You’re standing in the middle of the hallway almost in tears because the man you love has tossed you on your ass. He decided you aren’t worth anything anymore, that he’s done using you, and is now not interested.
Things started off as fake but your feelings for him are very real. Would it make a difference if he knew you how in love with him? Doesn’t matter now. You’re sure that he maybe started to feel something for you, or maybe was all in your head. Either way, you’re all alone now.

Too Trusting-Thor Odinson x Reader
Tumblr media
(GIF credit to @slice-of-thunder)
MASTERLIST
Summary: (Y/N) starts to sense a pattern whenever Thor tells stories of his brother, and she can't help but point it out to him.
Characters: Thor Odinson x Reader
Meanings: (Y/N)=Your name
Warnings: Arguing, fluff
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
As Thor told me yet another tale about Loki, I had to stop myself making faces or rolling my eyes, because I knew what was coming next as he spoke. Although he was telling the story in a joyful way, I knew that he had gone through a lot of hurt due to his brother. This was how the anecdote would go: Thor was the hero, he needed help, bargains with Loki, everything goes smoothly until Loki betrays him and/or fakes his death. The day would still be saved but Thor was still upset over his brother.
"My love, did you hear what I said?" Thor asked.
"Yes, I did." I didn't mean to snap.
"What is wrong? Did something happened today? I'm sorry, I never asked, I just started rambling."
"No, nothing happened today. It's just..." I didn't know how to go about this without hurting his feelings.
"Yes?"
"Thor, these stories are all the same."
"Oh, I do not believe they are, I've been on many adventures and quests, none are the same as the other."
"Not the stories per say. It seems that every time Loki is involved he...he uses you."
He scoffed with a smile."What?"
"He always either betrays you or lies to you about dying. I just thought after all these times, maybe you would clock onto it."
"Are you saying I'm stupid?" he stood from the bed where we had been lying opposite each other.
I sat up."No, of course not! It's more like, you're too trusting."
"And that's a bad thing?"
"Sometimes it is."
"You don't know Loki, you've never met him."
"I know, but what else am I supposed to think when all the stories you tell me portray him as the cunning one?"
"That's what he is though, the God of Mischief, it's in his nature."
"I understand that Thor, but I thought mischief might mean playing tricks on people. Not invading Earth."
"I told you about that time he turned into snake and bit me, right?"
I sighed, it either wasn't getting through to him or he was too stubborn to admit I was right.
"You don't know my brother. He's...misunderstood. He did not receive the love father gave me as we grew up."
"Well, that's very unfortunate but what did you ever do to him?"
I could see he was getting angry now. I really didn't want this to turn into an argument, maybe I shouldn't have said anything. But if I couldn't tell him, who could?
"Thor, please can you just sit down? I really didn't mean to upset you."
"Well I can't stop thinking about it now. Who else sees me as an idiot? Was I a fool in front of all of my family and friends, my friends from work?"
He was pacing now, slowly, but it was clear to see he was trying to keep calm. When he was angry it wasn't pretty. He had never directed it at me, and I know he wouldn't now, however this had hit a nerve.
"No one sees you that way." I crawled to the egde of the bed, now sat on top of my knees."I only brought it up because I don't like thinking of you in those situations. I just...it sounded like you didn't realise what was happening in those moments."
"I would like to see you battling monsters and evil men, I don't think you would come out of it lightly." he spat.
My mouth dropped open. Now I was angry too. I stood on the bed, only just coming to eye level with him.
"This isn't about me winning any battles! I know I wouldn't last a second out there. Why aren't you acknowledging this?"
"Because no matter how many times I gave him a chance he let me down!"
A sudden crack of thunder made me jump, I faltered on the bed, almost falling. Thor moved to steady me until he saw that I quickly regained myself. But it was weet to see him still caring even though we were bickering.
I let a few seconds pass by, a small trickle of rain gently hit against the windows. OK, it wasn't a huge storm, that was a good thing.
"Thor," I gently said, stepping down to the floor,"I'm sorry for confronting you about this. I thought maybe you were in denial. And I understand why you would be. You love Loki, you want to give him second chances because you're a good person, you see the good in everyone. But you can't let yourself be in harms way when things like that happen. What if the next time he betrayed you-"
"There may not be a next time!" he then looked like he was thinking."Oh, I'm beginning to see what you mean."
I calmly continued."What if next time he betrays you, you get seriously hurt, or killed even! And even if Loki quickly regretted his decision, it could be too late to save you."
Thor lowered his head. He hated being wrong, just like I did. I watched as he turned his back to me, sitting on the end of the bed. I had learned that although Thor liked to be alone with his thoughts, he did need a calmer person to talk things through, make him see this all from a different perspective.
"I didn't meant to make you sad." I mumbled, looking out at the rain."I hope you know I said all this because I love you. It would crush me to see Loki go behind your back again."
He didn't say anything, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. Slowly I approached him, kneeling on the bed again but behind him. I rested my whole body on his back, wrapping my arms around his torso as much as I could.
"Please talk to me."
"I know you are right. But I don't want you to be."
Oh, he sounded so sad.
"Neither do I. You now I didn't say it out of spite against you or Loki. It's just hard to paint a pretty picture of him."
"I know."
I kissed the back of his shoulder."Do you want to be alone?"
"No." he placed a hand over mine."But, please can we not talk about this anymore?"
"Of course."
"I wish you could meet him. Or have met him before he turned into what he is now."
"Me too."
"I hate disloyalty and dishonesty. I am sorry I got angry but it is a difficult subject for me to talk about."
"I know. Shall we just go back to lying down together?"
"Yes."

"Nope. Hell no. There's no way I'm fitting that thing in my mouth."
Your manicured nail gestures up and down at the monstrosity leaking in front of your face.
"I appreciate the compliment, pet," Thor laughs and leans back on the couch. He rests arms behind his head, making his massive biceps bulge more.
All the machismo and raw power dripping from this man alone should be enough to intimidate you, but you're not easily swayed.
"What am I supposed to do? Unhinge my jaw like a fucking snake?"
"Or you could shut the fuck up and do it already."
The clinking of ice against glass draws your attention to Curtis standing at the penthouse suite's fully stocked bar. You wish he would go back to silently judging you from across the room, the fucking prick.
He sips his drink as you stare daggers.
"You want to come over here and do it then, boss?"
Thor looks his way and tosses up an eyebrow because of course the Big Slut is down.
Curtis grimaces and downs the rest of his drink, leaving it on the bar top.
"No thank you. I'm not interested in a mouthful of protein shake tonight."
He pushes up the sleeves of his gray henley, making his way over to your pouting self as Thor guffaws above you.
"Now c'mon, sweetheart, don't be shy. Open wide."
Curtis yanks the back of your hair with one hand once you're within reach, taking advantage of your open mouth gasping in pain to shove it down over Thor's bulbous head.
"That's it, good girl."
Your jaw is screaming around the blond's girth, tears already pooling at the corners of your eyes.
Curtis' grip on your head doesn't loosen but he waits for you to collect yourself. It takes a moment, but soon you're breathing through your nose and drooling on Thor's cock.
"Ah, look how pretty those tears are, my little pet."
Thor's deep baritone rumbles through you, almost like an electric current sending a shock to your cunt.
Your full lips ache as you suckle around his cockhead, the taste of him salty and sweet and pooling on your tongue.
It's uncomfortable but not unpleasant taking him like this, running your tongue over his sensitive head, bobbing as much as you can with Curtis' hand on your head. Your hands envelop what you can't reach, using the copious amount of drool pouring from your lips to ease the glide.
"So cute. Those little hands can't go all the way around, can they?"
You make a show of trying your hardest to touch your fingers to your thumb, but you can't and your tightened grip makes Thor chuckle and groan, more of his slick oozing into your stuffed mouth.
Curtis sees a flash of your smirk at Thor's reaction and pulls you off of his length before shoving you down a few more inches. He growls low in his chest, gripping you tighter as you sputter around the sudden invasion, only having gotten a couple gasps of air into your lungs.
"You think this is a game, little girl. Your instructions were to take his cock down your fucking throat, stop fucking around."
Thor pets your cheek as more tears fall. You'd like to think his aim is to soothe you, but the fucker just spreads those tears around, collects them on his thumb and brings it to his mouth to suck clean.
"Delicious."
You're about halfway down his cock with an entire fist still sitting under your lips, your throat pulsing around his tip.
"Suck, sweetheart. Do what good little fuckdolls do and maybe we'll give you a nice bonus."
You distantly hear a zipper coming down.
Just inside your peripherals you see Curtis pulling his thick cock out of his jeans, fisting it so slowly it almost feels menacing.
Your mind is already floating, your eyes struggling to stay open as you force yourself down further, sucking and jerking and rubbing your hand over him. The slick sounds matching Thor's groans and making the wet spot on your panties grow.
Curtis leans down next to your ear, dropping his hand from his cock to wrap around your throat.
"Fuck, sweetheart, look at you. You look so beautiful gagging on cock. Doing what you were made for."
He gives your throat a squeeze. Thor groans above you, the loudest one yet. You stroke his length faster, harder, determined to suck his fucking soul out of his balls.
When all of a sudden Curtis lets go of your hair and you're being lifted up off your knees, your hands falling to Thor's hips to steady yourself.
Thor's cock falls from your mouth and lands with a wet slap on his abs. You cough and sputter, gasping for breath and confused.
"Curtis what -"
You feel the bottom of your dress being flipped up, your panties pulled down to your knees, and in one smooth motion Curtis shoves his cock into your cunt.
You scream, falling forward from the force. Curtis gives you a moment to adjust to his thickness spreading your walls, just like he did with Thor's cock. He's mean but not impatient. He knows you can take it.
Thor's cock bobs in your face like a cobra waiting to strike.
"You did such a good job, darling," Thor's accented praise sends a shiver through you. His meaty paw wraps around his cock and he strokes it, meeting Curtis' gaze over your shoulder for a moment before tapping it on your spit-slick bottom lip.
"Open up. Let me see those pretty lips around my cock again."
You hesitate for just a moment, already feeling sore from taking him the first time.
Curtis lands a quick, hard smack to your ass.
"He said 'open'. Be good. Don't make me hold you down again."
You don't know if you sob or moan but you do listen and take Thor's cock into your mouth once again.
Curtis begins to move then, gripping your hips tight as he slams into you hard over and over. Taking his time opening you up until you're pushing back against him.
Thor's eyes are heavy and lidded as he watches you bounce in Curtis' cock. He reaches for your breasts, your nipples hanging taut and begging to be pinched and squeezed by his thick fingers.
You moan around his cock, the stimulation on both sides is building in your core and Curtis can feel it, can see how creamy your pussy is around his cock as his thrusts quicken.
"So fucking tight. Fucking pussy's like a vice. You gonna come for me? Does she deserve to come?"
Curtis' question to Thor makes your eyes snap open, begging and pleading with your mouth full of his cock to let you come.
"What do you say, pet, should I let you come?"
You're sobbing around his cock, rocking violently in time with Curtis' hips digging into you, slapping against your ass at a brutal pace now.
Thor wipes the tears from your eyes with one hand and pulls his cock from your mouth, using his wet hand to fist his cock.
"Beg, pet. Beg nicely and you'll get my cream as well."
"Please, please let me come. I'll be good. Promise. Want your come, Thor, please."
"Go ahead, pet. Let me see it."
Curtis reaches around and holds your face up by your throat as you fall apart.
Your eyes never leave Thor's as you cry and scream and shake, your juices spurting around Curtis' pounding cock.
Thor's fist flies over his cock until his legs are shaking, his balls tightening and he's growling out, "Open up, pet. Be good and catch all of it."
You come again as Thor paints your face, globs of it catching on your cheeks and nose and mouth. Once he's finished, Thor wipes what remains off your face and onto your tongue. You greedily suck at his digits, moaning on his fingers as your legs shake.
"You look so pretty, pet, covered in my spunk."
"She looks better full of it."
Curtis smacks your ass again and spreads you open, stopping only for a moment to drop a wad of spit on your hole. His hand that was around your throat rubs down your back until he's *there* pressing against your tight bud with his thumb.
"Fuck!"
You shout as he pushes it in, fucking you with it slowly as he continues to pound into your pussy, his hips grinding, searching for that spot that makes your eyes roll back. Thor leans forward and captures your lips in a powerful kiss. You groan into his mouth as he nudges in with his tongue, searching, tasting.
When Curtis gets the angle just right you shout, coming hard and fast, gripping his cock in a chokehold.
With a shout Curtis is right there with you dumping his hot load into your cunt.
"Fucking shit."
Thor gets up from the couch, leaving you to watch Curtis' jizz leak from your puffy cunt as he pulls out.
"Beautiful, pet, just beautiful."
You fall forward on the couch, not caring that your bare ass is still up in the air.
"Stop staring, you two chucklefucks. Can someone get a towel."
Thor is already on it, producing one from behind the bar and wiping you down with it. When he's done Thor plops himself down on the couch next to your limp body.
"That wasn't too bad, was it, sweetheart?"
You stand on shaky legs and stick your tongue out at Thor as you right your dress.
"This," you gesture to the anaconda hiding in Thor's pants, "was a one time thing."
Curtis is at the bar again having tidied and tucked himself away by now. He pours himself a drink and hands you an envelope.
"Your bonus."
"Oh fuck you were serious."
You snatch it out of his hands and check the contents. Content with your findings you stuff it into your purse and slip your shoes on.
You eye Curtis and Thor one last time as you enter the elevator.
"See you at work, boss. You too, slut."
Thor's raucous laughter is the last thing you hear as the elevator doors close.

First thing the next morning, you rush to Bruce’s lab again. You know he’ll already be in there, working away; he always is these days. This time you knock on the double doors, cracking one open and poking your head round to peer inside.
Bruce is sat at his desk, concentrating on the layer of papers spread haphazardly across its surface. The machinery that had been all over the floor the other day, is now gathered up in a heap at the side of the room. It looks no closer to being completed, whatever it’s supposed to be.
Bruce looks up when he hears you knock.
“Y/N, hey,” he says, smiling sleepily and pulling his glasses off his nose to rub a hand over his face. You’re judging by the dark circles under his eyes that he’s been awake all night. “Did you have any luck getting a present for Thor?” he asks, stifling a yawn.
“That’s actually what I wanted to talk to you about,” you say, hovering next to the door. “Is now a good time?”
He pushes his glasses back onto his face and starts shifting the papers around on his desk, tidying them into a messy pile.
“Er, yeah, sure.” He gestures for you to come in, frowning slightly.
“Don’t worry, I’m not here to pick your brains for ideas again,” you huff a nervous laugh and he looks relieved. “I was actually hoping you might be able to… help me find someone,” you say carefully.
“Oh,” he glances up from the papers in his hand, intrigued. “Who?”
You hover awkwardly in front of his desk and take a deep breath.
“Loki,” you say quickly, before you have the chance to convince yourself that this is a bad idea. “I need you to help me find Loki.”
Bruce stares at you for a moment in silence, his paperwork now laying forgotten on the desk. Squints his eyes slightly as if trying to figure out if you’re joking. He opens his mouth to speak, then closes it again. He lets out a huff of breath and shakes his head, baffled.
“You’re not serious?” he finally asks you.
You take a step closer.
“Look, I know this sounds crazy-”
“Yeah, it does,” Bruce cuts in.
“But, please, I didn’t know who else to ask,” you plead with him. You knew there was no way anyone else would ever agree to help you. Bruce was by far your best shot. He’d been there when Loki had helped Thor defeat Hela; he’d seen first hand that Loki clearly isn’t all bad.
“But why? Why in the Hell would you want to find Loki?”
His question catches you off guard and you stare at him. You’d thought your reasoning would have been obvious.
“For Thor,” you say simply.
“And you think Thor would want to see him? After everything he’s done?”
You have no doubt that he would.
“Loki’s his brother, Bruce, of course he’d want to see him.”
Banner gives a laboured sigh and takes his glasses off again, this time abandoning them on the desk. He leans back in his chair to look at you, his brow furrowed deeply.
“Y/N, look, Loki and Thor have a complicated past. That’s something that’s best not getting mixed up in.”
You get what Bruce is trying to say, but you can’t help but feel like he’s wrong about this. As if he can hear your thoughts, he adds, “Trust me, Y/N, it won’t end well for anyone. Loki’s brain is like a bag full of cats.”
“Well that doesn’t sound so bad…” you mumble quietly, in an attempt to lighten the mood a little; but when you meet Bruce’s eyes, they are serious.
In the awkward silence, you lean against the filing cabinet beside you and fold your arms over your chest.
“It’s just, Thor seemed so upset when we were talking about Loki yesterday. I really think he does miss him. I mean, how could he not? No matter what Loki may have done in the past, they’re family.” You look at him pleadingly. “And he’s the only family Thor has left,” you add thickly.
“If it were my sister… even if she had done all of the bad things Loki has, I would still want to find her.  To know that she was ok.”
You had thought that Bruce was the person who knew Thor the best out of everyone at the compound, but now you can see you were wrong. It was so obvious to you that Thor was hurting over Loki and everyone else was so blinded by Loki’s wrong-doings that they couldn’t see it.
Bruce slowly stands and makes his way round to the front of his desk, sitting down on the edge  closest to you. He seems torn.
“Y/N,” he says, hesitating. “I can’t help you. Even if I wanted to find Loki myself, nobody knows where he is. I’m sorry.”
There’s a sinking feeling deep in the pit of your stomach.
“You’re right. It was a stupid idea.” You sit down on the edge of the desk, beside him, and hang your head.
He sighs and reaches over to reluctantly touch your arm. You glance down at it in surprise.
“No, it wasn’t, Y/N. You were trying to do a nice thing for Thor, because you love him. That’s not stupid, that’s beautiful.” He smiles reassuringly at you then takes his hand back. “Even if it was trying to reunite him with his homicidal maniac of a brother,” he adds. You both huff a laugh.
A moment passes in silence and you consider getting up to leave. You glance at Bruce to see him pulling a face, as if he’s struggling to make his mind up about something. He catches you looking at him and seems to cave.
“Look,” he says, pausing to glance at  you again as if he’s already regretting saying anything, “But, perhaps the next time Thor goes to New Asgard, you should go with him,” he lets the sentence hang there for a second, then quickly adds, “I’m not saying anyone there will know where Loki is, or that they would even want to help you, but... it’s a place to start.” He shrugs halfheartedly.
You jump up from the table excitedly.
“Of course! Bruce, you’re a genius! Thank you.”
He puts his hands up in front of him, shaking his head.
“Oh, no. I’m not taking any credit for this.” He looks at you concernedly. “Just… be careful, ok? I don’t want this to backfire, for your sake.”
Tumblr media
After speaking with Bruce, you practically skip down the halls of the compound, excited to ask Thor if he would let you accompany him to New Asgard.
“Thor?” you ask in a sing-song voice, entering your bedroom. He’s not there. You peer into the ensuite bathroom, “Thor?” Not in there either.
Wondering where he could be, you head back out of your room and down the hall to the communal living area. As the door slides open you notice two blonde-haired, broad-shouldered men, sitting on the sofa with their backs to you.
“There you are,” you say, walking towards Thor and Steve, who both jump at the sound of you. You had always thought it was impossible to sneak up on a Demi-God and a super soldier with enhanced hearing, but apparently they were so transfixed with what they were doing, they hadn’t heard you enter. Thor jumps to his feet and bounds over, intercepting you before you can make it round to the front of the sofa.
Steve panickingly attempts to cover whatever is on the coffee table in front of him, but you can’t see past Thor’s thick frame anyway.
“I thought you were going out shopping, my love,” Thor says shiftily, placing two large hands on your upper arms and steering you slightly further away from the sofa.
“I’m just about to, I had something to do first,” you say, referring to your visit to Bruce’s lab. “What are you two doing?” You ask him, with suspicion, attempting to peer past him. He blocks you with his shoulder.
“Nothing that concerns you,” he says, but his tone is playful.
“Alright…” you say, narrowing your eyes slightly. “Anyway,” you continue, changing the subject to the reason you came to find him in the first place, “I was just wondering… the next time you go to New Asgard, could I perhaps go with you?”
He looks surprised by your suggestion.
“I mean, I totally don’t have to, if you would prefer to go alone. I just thought…”
He cuts off your rambling by embracing you so hard in his large arms that he almost lifts you straight off the floor.
“That would be wonderful!” He says excitedly, beaming at you. “I can’t wait to introduce you to my fellow Asgardians, they will love you!”
“Ok, that’s great,” you say, returning his smile, “I’m really looking forward to meeting them.”
He lets go of you and you straighten your outfit. “Well, I better go do some shopping, or I’ll never be ready for Christmas,” you say then give Thor a peck on the lips. “I’ll see you later.”
“Goodbye, my love,” he says, steering you back in the direction of the door.
“Bye Steve,” you say, waving to him, still sitting on the sofa.
Tumblr media
Having panicked and finally given in to Sam and Nat’s idea, you’re now hurrying down the busy city street lined with twinkling fairy lights, in the direction of the nearest lingerie shop. You glance at the window of a shop across the street from you and do a double take.
There’s a large glass tank in the display. You stop abruptly to stare at it from the opposite side of the pavement out of curiosity, causing the woman behind you to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting you with her shopping bags. She tuts loudly as she carries on bustling down the street.
You carefully negotiate crossing the busy road, then stand on the sidewalk with one of your gloved hands held up to the glass, cupped above your eyes to help you see in through the window of the store.
You can see the outlines of various tanks and cages along the back wall and, in the ones closer to you, the moving shapes of the different animals inside them.
The snake in the tank closest to you, slithers slightly closer to the window and raises its head, staring back at you, unblinking. Butterflies start swirling around in your stomach, as you peer in at it. You remember your conversation with Thor from yesterday and how he had said he loves snakes. Is this a totally insane idea? you think to yourself. Not the first one I’ve had today, you add, remembering Banner’s reaction to you wanting to find Loki.
A small, hopeful part of you thinks as you gaze at the animal, that perhaps it would remind him of his brother and the good times they used to have together. It seems like a good alternative, at least until you can start your search for Loki properly.
You chew on your bottom lip, still studying the snake. As much as you think he’d love it, what if Thor doesn’t want the commitment of owning a pet? He does sometimes go on long missions and wouldn’t be around to look after it all the time; but you would be there, so it wouldn’t be neglected.
You’re slowly talking yourself into it, when you’re drawn out of your reverie by a voice beside you. “Unusual creatures, aren’t they?”
You look to your left, startled, to see a man wearing a smart black suit and overcoat with black shoulder length hair, standing next to you.
He’s staring straight ahead, but you know his comment was definitely directed at you; there’s no one else around for him to have aimed it at. Following his gaze, you see he is looking through the window at the large tank with the snake in it; the very same snake you had just been considering buying for Thor.
“Yeah,” you say in response, not really sure what else to say. “I was thinking of buying one for my boyfriend. As a Christmas present.”
He turns to look at you and offers you a charming smile. “That’s very thoughtful of you,” he says in his posh British accent, then pauses, “I’m sure Thor will love it. He was always very fond of snakes.”
You smile in return then do a double take.
“What? How… how do you…?” You stumble over your words, causing him to laugh lightly, flashing his teeth. Then it clicks.
“Loki?” you whisper in amazement.
He bows his head to you.
“Lady Y/N.”
You’re dumbfounded. Opening and shutting your mouth several times. You discreetly pinch the skin on your forearm, just to make sure you’re not dreaming.
“How…?” is the only thing able to make it past your lips, as you gaze at him in wonder and disbelief.
This earns another soft chuckle from him.
He gestures across the road towards a small park area with a few benches, “We have much to talk about. Shall we?”
At a complete loss for words, you simply nod and follow his lead.
Tumblr media
“After we escaped, I had nowhere to go,” Loki explains. “Asgard was destroyed and I couldn’t go back to Sakaar. Which was a shame really, I quite liked it there. Could see myself fitting in,” he adds wistfully. “I’m not exactly welcome here on Midgard,” he casts a wary look around as he says this, lowering his voice. “So I ventured off on my own, trying to find another planet to settle on.”
“So, why did you come back?” you ask.
He looks at you with a creased brow.
“I’ve come to tell you to stop looking for me.”
You scoff softly, taken aback by his suggestion.
“How did you know I was looking for you, when I hadn’t even started?” Then a thought creeps into your brain, making you shudder. “Wait, have you been spying on me?” you ask in disgust.
“Oh, don’t make it sound so perverse,” he chastises you. “I like to keep an eye on my brother,” he says hesitantly, as if he isn’t sure he should be admitting this to you.
“Then why would you come here if you didn’t want to be found?” It doesn’t make any sense to you.
He casts his eyes to the floor. Then you remember something Clint had once said to you, about Loki’s projections of himself.
“You’re… not really here, are you?” you ask quietly. You reach out to touch his hand and it flickers slightly, your fingers brushing nothing but air.
“I couldn’t risk it,” he says in response to the disappointed look on your face. “Besides, Thor doesn’t want to see me. He’s happy now,” he says, catching your gaze. “He has you.”
You smile thoughtfully.
“Family is important, Loki,” you say after a moment of silence. “And sometimes we don’t realise that until it’s too late.” Your voice is wistful, as you stare into the distance.
His face falls at your remark, it seems you caught him off guard.
“Our mother used to say something similar to that.”
Although you don’t know much about their mother, Thor had always spoken very highly of her and you knew they both loved her very much.
“Whenever Thor and I would fight, she would say that one day we’d be all each other would have left. As usual, she was right.” he looks off in the direction you are staring.
The pair of you stay quiet for a little while, then you speak up.
“Look, Loki, after all this time you’ve still kept an eye on Thor, obviously because you care for him a great deal. And he misses you, he really does, I can tell. Why don’t you just come back to the compound with me? See him,” you suggest. Loki looks startled by the idea.
“Absolutely not,” he scoffs. “No.”
“It’s ok, I get it. You’re scared about seeing him, but I-”
“I am not scared,” he cuts in stubbornly and you have to fight the urge to roll your eyes at him.
“Well, how about you think on it?” You suggest, and then you have an idea. “Hey, I know! Come for Christmas!” you say excitedly. You see the look on Loki’s face and dial your enthusiasm back a notch. “You could join us at the compound on Christmas day, I’m sure Thor would love that.”
Loki continues to shake his head.
“Nobody wants me there, Y/N,” he says plainly. You see the hurt in his eyes.
“Thor does. And if he does, so do I.”
He gives you a doubtful look in return.
“Don’t worry about the others,” you say, “ I’ll handle them.” He says nothing, so you figure you’ve probably said enough.
You’re starting to resign yourself to the fact that you’ll never be able to reunite Thor with his brother.
“It was really nice to meet you Loki,” you say genuinely, standing up from the bench, “but if you’ll excuse me, I have to go panic-buy a snake.”
He gives a small laugh and smiles.
“You know, my brother is a lucky man.” The corners of your mouth twitch upwards at the compliment. It’s funny, you never expected you’d be having a conversation with Loki, let alone that it would shape out like this.
“Just, please, promise me you’ll think about my offer,” you say, straightening out your coat.
He doesn’t say anything but smiles and politely bows his head to you in a final goodbye. You cross the road to get back to the shop and once you’ve made the short walk to the other side, you turn back to look at the bench you had left Loki standing in front of, but he is gone.

Loki Laufeyson x Reader - All Coming Back to Me - Part 2
So.... It's been a long time....
Sorry I haven't been writing in a long time, I can't even guarantee I'm back, or - more importantly - that my writing will be any good anymore!
I want to start writing again however, and I think Fan Fiction is a good place to practice, so I guess if you have any requests fire them at me and I'll see what I can do. Might not be as quick/as good as I use to be because I'm rusty and I want to dedicate some time to some original fiction too.
However, I did manage to write a small part to this series I started... It is only short and I haven't actually edited it, so I apologise if there's many mistakes, I just wanted to get something out there to shake off the cobwebs!
The characters might not be great - I obviously haven't been writing them for ages! - and I literally just wrote this so I can't say it'll be any good story-wise either...
Let me know what you think anyway!
MASTERLIST
You had needed a change and New York certainly was it, you thought as you gazed out from the balcony over the city below. The wind whipped coolly at your shoulders, but you welcomed the cold reminding of you the home you had left for here. Permanently? You weren’t sure. At least you head didn’t hurt here. Your heart not ache for something else.
Here wasn’t home. You knew that. No city could be, you enjoyed greenery too much.
You sighed out loud, rubbing the goose bumps on your exposed arms. Movement out of the corner of your eye made you turn as someone entered the living space behind you through the glass doors. Barton raised his hand in greeting to you as he moved through to the kitchen. You smiled pleasantly back, lifting your hand off your arm briefly to return his gesture.
You glanced once more out at the overcast city sky then ventured back inside, the warmth immediately making your skin tingle pleasantly.
“Coffee?” Barton called from the kitchen, noticing your entrance.
“Tea, if that’s ok.” You replied with an apologetic smile
“Of course.” He smirked, catching your anxiety and trying to put you at ease.
You wandered a few paces as you thought over your words. “Have you seen, Thor?” You eventually called, voice cracking slightly and you flinched silently in embarrassment.
If Barton noticed, he ignored it. “He’s out bringing in trouble.” He answered, turning now to place too steaming mugs on the kitchen’s breakfast bar. You frowned. Barton raised an eyebrow, then smirked. “His brother.” He clarified.
Of course, you thought, wrapping your hands around your mug.
“Should be back any moment though.” Barton reassured you, monitoring your expression. You nodded in thought, eyes on the liquid steaming calmly between your hands. “You know him?” Barton ventured after a moment.
“Hm?” You glanced up, having been lost in thought, though you couldn’t have said what that thought had been about.
Barton’s eyes crinkled with a teasing, but friendly, smirk, “Do you know Loki?” He repeated patiently, “You seem pretty close with Thor.”
You felt an odd ache in your forehead. It wasn’t a sharp pain like a headache, but it was an odd discomfort. It then vanished as soon as it had come. You lifted your hand to rub the spot, but the pain did not return. You frowned, but then shook your head, offering a smile to Barton’s concerned look. “Slight head ache.” You explained, then nodded, “Yes, I would say I am reasonably close with Thor, I must admit I feel like I’ve known him since we were only children.” So how did I not know he had a brother? “But I have never met Loki.” You confessed, bringing the tea up to your lips, “I didn’t even know he had a brother.” You said taking a sip.
Barton frowned slightly, seemingly as confused as you. “Well if I were you I tried to miss him again, he isn’t the best guy to hang out with.” He muttered, swing his own coffee cup up to take a drink.
“Why?” You frowned, intrigued.
“He isn’t much like Thor… Except the powers.” Barton conceded, “Their personalities are quite different. Personally I’ve had a run in or two with him. Don’t wish to relive it.” He admitted.
At that moment an intercom beeped and Tony Starks voice filled the room, “Point breaks back. Get yourselves ready.” There was a pause. “And despite what Thor said I’m still gonna be packing a bit of wallop up my sleeve just in case - anyone else is welcome to join me.”
The intercom shut off.
“Well,” Barton sighed, moving out of the kitchen and into the living space with you, “if you don’t mind me, that’s my cue to get as far away as possible.” He smirked, though the humour didn’t breach his stony eyes this time. “Good luck.” He muttered, patting you upper arm as he moved past you, disappearing out into the corridor beyond.
You frowned after him, confused how a person could be that bad you had to hide from them. You perched on the nearest bar stool and waited.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
“[Y/N]?”
“Brother!” Thor grabbed his brother’s arm as he lunged forward before the bright light of the rainbow bridge had completely vanished.
“She’s here isn’t she? Where is she?” Loki demanded almost desperately, eyes darting over the open landing pad at the top of the Avengers Tower.
“Hello to you too, reindeer games.” Tony greeted dryly and Loki turned to face him, his expression clouding with annoyance.
“Where is she?” Loki demanded again, a bite to his tone now.
“Brother, relax.” Thor soothed, squeezing Loki’s shoulder reassuringly, “She’s not here right now.”
“Not here?!” Loki snarled, turning on Thor, “You told me-“
“She is with Agent Romanoff.” Thor interrupted calmly, dropping his hand from Loki’s shoulder.
Loki’s eyes flickered with relief momentarily, “Well, where?”
“Out.” Thor shrugged.
“Why?!”
“For exactly this reason, brother.” Thor stated, gesturing at up and down his brother. Loki shook his head, scowling incredulously. “Loki, she doesn’t know who you are, you’ll scare her.” Thor explained.
“Hang on, back up –“ Tony began, stepping forward, confused.
“She’ll know me the minute she sees me.” Loki stated, brushing off Thor’s concerns.
“I wouldn’t be so sure brother.”
“Woah,” Tony interrupted, stepping forward again, holding a hand up to get them to stop, “care to fill in the rest of the class, kids?” Tony asked, waving his hand in a circle to include himself and the two that lingered behind him. Loki glared down at Stark, but the man didn’t seem to care. Thor glanced around the rest of the landing pad at the few other team members that had dared to greet him on his return with his brother. Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner still stood back watching his brother’s entrance with a mixture of hesitancy and bewilderment.
“My brother has a history with [Y/N].” Thor admitted, addressing the others, “However she has no memory of this history.” Thor glanced at his brother. Loki’s enthusiasm seemed to faltered and he now moved away from his brothers gaze, heading towards the edge of the landing pad, staring blindly at the scenery beyond.
“What do you mean she has no memory?” Tony frowned, also glancing towards Loki’s back.
“Something happened a long time ago. We don’t know what.” He confessed. “Neither I nor Loki were there.” Loki seemed to flinch at that. “When I returned she spoke to me as if nothing had changed…” Thor trailed off, glancing over at this brother’s now dejected-looking figure. “Except she knew nothing of my brother, nor anything he had ever done.”
“A sort of memory loss?” Rogers frowned.
“A very specific one.” Banner added. “Any ideas what caused it?”
Thor shook his head.
“Hang on, is that the only reason he’s here?” Stark frowned, jutting a finger over at Loki whose back visibility stiffened at the question.
Thor looked back to his brother, pity in his eyes. ”It is what convinced him.” He confessed with a nod, then turned his head back to the others, “But I truly mean for this to be a rehabilitation for him. I assure you he has changed.”
No one seemed convinced.
There was a moment’s pause before Loki turned. “Well, thank you all for your strong vote of confidence.” He sneered dryly at the team, “Now I’ve had my very warm welcome, might I be shown to my new room?”
“Oh course, brother.” Thor clapped him on the back and Loki scowled.
“Just don’t get too comfortable.” Tony muttered, turning back to the tower’s entrance.

To Kill a God
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: The mission – Assassination of Loki Laufeyson.
Warnings: Light control and dominance, loathing, spanking, smut.
A/N: We're just gonna pretend the events takes a different route after the Battle of New York.
Personal A/N: Apologies for how long it's been. Was dealing with some personal things, including a pretty bad injury that I'm now recovering from. I also tend to write really slow. Please enjoy! Comments/feedback & reblogs are always much appreciated! 💚
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
Nights like these were the best time to work. Silent, still, dark. A hunter on a mission for the next prey. But this one was new; you'd never hunted a god before. Breaths were drawn slow, methodical, focused. Keep your heart rate down, keep your steps in check.
You had been kept in the shadows of the Avengers, not fitting in with the pretty boy heros, genius doctors, or sexy vixens. You were a wallflower, a nightcrawler.
Sure, Black Widow, she was cute with her fancy moves and killer body. But you? They never even hear you coming.
With grace and stealth, you had slipped into Asgard undetected when the portal opened up to take Thor and Loki home after the Battle of New York. The rush to this new world had been nauseating, but with breaths through your nose to compose yourself, you slipped into the shadows.
The streets of Asgard were crowded and foreign, vendors shouting to grab your attention, new smells, twinkling lights and glimmering colors. A fine silk robe was lifted from a distracted shopkeeper, promising yourself that you'd return it once the mission was complete.
In only a few hours, you had worked your so-called magic to obtain the intel needed and now stood in the main hall of the Asgard royal prison. It had taken a bit of eavesdropping on a table of drunken guards and the power of persuasion with another to allow you entry into the palace's main gates. A small amount of combat and you had forced your way into the prison compound.
Adrenaline pulsed through your veins, knowing you were close. Turning the corner, the prisoners were found fast asleep in their glass panel prison cells. And then, you stopped in your tracks and held your breath. The raven haired terror, that pathetic excuse for a god, slept only a few meters from you. He looked peaceful, almost gentle, but looks were deceiving. You reminded yourself that he was ruthless and cruel, but not for long.
Knowing there were only minutes before a slew of Asgardian guards would come rushing in, you worked diligently to shut down the currents running through the security system. Loki stirred in his bed, but didn't awaken. The dagger was heavy, but it was all that was needed to finish the mission.
Hand firmly on the hilt, you took quiet, determined steps to his bed, taking one last look at the god in front of you, then bared your weight as you went for his heart. But there was no impact as his body faded away to nothing.
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
How peculiar it was, these small other worldly creatures who thought they could defeat a god. In the shadows, he tsked at the young thing in front of him. So impatient, so immature. Who did they think he was? He emerged slowly, a sinister smile dancing on his face. You turned abruptly, eyes going wide knowing your advantage was lost…or had never been there to begin with.
"Did you really think you could slay me?" He chuckled to himself, very amused by this predicament. "I assure you, girl, it will take more than a knife and leather leggings to take down the god of mischief."
With a futile attempt, you lunged at him. He grabbed you like a rag doll, twisting your arm in an awkward angle until the metal clanged on the floor. A whimper escaped and he let go before it dislocated, only to wrap his hands around your throat and bring you to eye level with him. He watched in satisfaction as you struggled, choking and clawing at his hands.
"Don't worry pet," he leaned in closely to whisper in your ear. "I won't kill you, not yet. There'd be no fun in that."
He drew a finger down the side of your face, relishing in the thoughts of all the things he could do to his new captive, when a booming voice echoed through the prison corridor. "LOKI?!"
He sighed to himself in annoyance, always the killjoy to his fun. "Here, brother."
Thor stood in front of the prison cell, taking in the scene before him: Loki standing calm and poised, a small girl held at arm's length from the neck, face turning red, toes dragging on the ground. "What's going on here?"
"Well, dear brother, it appears our security is not what it once was. I caught this one lurking around." Your eyes darted to his. Why did he withhold the truth?
Thor squinted, cocking his head to the side to get a better look at you. And then, your name left his lips like an incredulous question.
Loki's face went from a look of surprise at his brother's recognition of you to amusement at what this meant. "You're Midgardian," he mused.
"Loki, release her," Thor demanded, hearing you struggle in his grip.
"I'll tell you what. Allow me to go back to my chambers freely, and this little minx will be handed over to your care."
"Loki…" Thor gave a gutteral warning. He was treading on thin ice, but they both knew who had the upper hand.
"It's a fair trade. It's clear she is important to you." Loki's eyes locked on yours. "Release me…or I crush her windpipe."
You flailed uselessly in a panic, his grip growing tighter, causing your eyes to water, face slowly turning to shades of purple.
"Fine, Loki! Go back to your chambers."
A look of satisfaction as he dropped you to the floor. You collapsed and breathed in deeply, rubbing the sensitive skin around your neck. Thor called the guards: two to escort you back to his personal chambers and another two to allow Loki free access to his wing.
Loki stepped over you as he left, clearly pleased with how his evening was ending. This wasn't over, but it was for now.
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
Thor had given you free reign of his chambers for the time being, instructing a few maidens to assist with your care, tending to any wounds, assisting with bathing and dress, although you insisted on doing the majority yourself. He found you the next morning after some rest, fully pampered and lounging on a chaise, feet and shoulders massaged by maidens.
"I could get used to the life of a prince," you teased when he came into the chambers. He ignored your jest and sat down looking troubled.
"Leave us," he ordered the maidens, watching until they filed out of the room. When the door shut, he turned to face you. "I have spent the last few hours trying to comprehend why you would come to Asgard without my knowing, and have yet to come up with a reason that doesn't involve violence." Your arms folded as he looked for any admission of guilt.
"It's classified, Thor." Your voice stayed steady and strong, and his jaw tightened. He grabbed a goblet from a nearby table and threw it against the wall, making it shatter, but you didn't flinch.
"I will remind you," he said slowly, "that right now you are on my planet, and not under Tony's protection."
You blinked at the mention of your employer and ally's name.
"You know I won't break, Thor. If I were a threat, wouldn't Loki have requested to have me locked up in one of your prison cells?" Thor considered your words. "In any case, I will leave you in peace and return to Midgard. I'm sure you have enough to deal with right now."
"No…. I think you'll stay as our guest for a while. We have some chambers available on the east wing." Your stomach twisted at what his words really meant. A guest, disguised as a prisoner. Thor stared you down.
"And, if I refuse?"
Now Thor crossed his arms, leaning back on the chaise. "You've seen our prison cells. They can be quite accommodating as well."
You smiled at his offer. "The east wing will be fine."
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
The maidens took lead to the east wing; you attempted to map the halls to memory, but after the twelfth turn, considered it was futile. You'd be lucky to find your way to freedom, let alone finding your primary target.
A brunette opened the door to the chambers, a hand held out to guide you in. "If you need anything, we will be right outside to assist."
Great, I have watchdogs.
The rest of the afternoon was spent in the adjoining apartments, studying from the open window the trimmed gardens, the various exits, the guards that roamed the outer courts and how often they changed. When your stomach started to rumble with hunger, like clockwork there was a light knock on the door, followed by a maiden poking her head in.
"Excuse me, my lady. Your presence is requested in the dining hall."
As you followed the silent maidens, you tried speaking as casually as possible. "Is Loki's chambers in the east wing?"
"No, my lady."
You frowned. "I would assume he has a full wing to himself?"
"If the prince wishes for you to know where his chambers are, he will show you the way."
The other maiden giggled quietly, then pulled herself together quickly before being seen. No doubt they assumed you were looking to bed the prince, not that you would correct them if it took focus off the real reason to be here.
The dining hall was as elaborate as it was giant; high backed velvet chairs, a table that went on forever it seemed, vaulted ceilings adored with golden arches and cherubs, servants stationed every few meters. It was hard not to feel completely out of place, but Thor made you feel welcomed enough, having plate after plate of the most decadent food placed in front of you. You had to hand it to Thor, he had learned to become more sly, perhaps by watching how others on the team worked. He made small talk about Midgard and the team, but would casually add a question here and there about why you were in Asgard.
You were tight lipped; it would take more than being wined and dined to make something slip. Mid-conversation, the door creaked and the guards and servants straightened up. Footsteps clicked on the marble floor around the corner out of view, but you already knew who was approaching.
When he appeared, his eyes darted from Thor to you but his face was like a stone, unreadable. He tilted his head to consider you, no doubt admiring the marks he'd left on your neck the night before. "Have we lowered ourselves to now dine with common criminals?"
He watched as your jaw set and heard Thor's booming laugh. "Loki, I'd like you to formally meet my friend–"
At the mention of your name, he scoffed. "We met. Might I advise that you be more particular in who you acquaint yourself with, brother."
"Like you?" Arms crossed, you leaned in the chair in defense. He was as annoying as he was cocky.
He watched the pulsing of the vein in your neck, the slight reddening of your face; he was getting under your skin. Good.
"My dear, I have more greatness in the tip of my finger than you in your entire being."
You scoffed. "Greatness, huh? Seems like that greatness delusion is what brought you back up here in chains."
"And yet," he said, holding out his arms, "no chains. Although, I guess I have you to thank for that."
Internally, you were screaming. Fantasies of diving across the table to gouge out his eyes and claw his face played in your mind. He was insufferable. Agitating. Annoying.
You needed to finish this mission and escape Asgard. The sooner this world was rid of Loki Laueyson, the better.
You stood, your plate of food unfinished, turning to Thor with a plastered smile. "Thank you for the lovely meal, Thor. Please, excuse me."
You wouldn't dare look at Loki, but you could feel his eyes on you, causing the hairs to raise on the back of your neck.
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
The halls had been quiet for hours and the only light in your room came from the glow of the moon and candlelight. You'd waited until it was almost inevitable that the maidens would have fallen asleep at their posting. Slipping by them was easy.
The occasional guard roamed the halls, but as you expected, was not as sharp. You slipped by two undetected, a third was put into a sleep hold and dragged into the shadows before anyone could be alerted.
The North Wing was far more rich in decor and aesthetics, with golden pillars and chandeliers. Loki's chambers were here, you were sure of it.
A sparkle of green in the shadows caught your eye. Was it a trick? Maybe, but he wouldn't take you by surprise this time.
The door was heavy and your steps were light as you entered the room. It was dark and smelled of cedar and leather. He was nowhere in sight, but you still kept to the walls.
A faint flicker of light in the next room caught your attention, a crackling fireplace, and there he appeared, reading in an oversized plush chair.
"You know, you're not as subtle as you think." He flipped the page, not even giving you the courtesy of looking up. "Thor had mentioned you were stealthy like a cat or something, but my oaf of a brother has about as much stealth as you do."
Your cheeks reddened in spite of yourself. He was absolutely infuriating. "Why did you lie?"
He finally looked up from his book, sliding a bookmark into the crease, a smirk playing on his lips. "You do realize that I'm the god of lies, don't you?"
"You could have told Thor why I was there, what I tried to do, and have me locked up. Why didn't you tell him?"
He made you feel so small when he stood, setting the book on a nearby coffee table. "Now where would the fun in that be?"
Taken aback, you blinked in response. "This…. This isn't a game."
He tsked and long daggers were revealed in his hands. "Darling, it's the best game there is."
He came forward at a fast pace. Your own weapons were drawn from your belt, ready to attack. Metal clashed in the middle of his study. He was impressed by your speed and agility, but he caused the first cut, a minor wound on your bicep. You responded by kicking him off his feet to pin him to the ground for only a moment before he flipped you over your head, losing one of your daggers in the process. With your hand free and he distracted, your fist made contact with his face.
A slur of curses were emitted. "You'll pay for that."
"We'll see." You smiled cockily, coming at him, but he was ready and provoked. One minute you had attacked him, a swipe of your blade and another punch blocked. The next minute, you were bent over and pinned to his desk. One of his hands had grasped your wrist, still gripping the dagger, the other hand on the back of your head. His body pressed into yours as you writhed and struggled, bucking your hips, kicking your leg out, but he was much too heavy.
"Let me know when you're ready to yield." He was very amused.
"Fuck you."
He laughed in a huff. The grip on your wrist went tighter. "Drop it," he demanded.
Any attempt at freeing yourself was proved useless. The dagger clattered on the desk and he tossed it aside, his own going back into his invisible pocket.
"Good girl. Now tell me you yield."
Silence. You'd rather die than give him the satisfaction.
"Suit yourself," he said. "It seems to me like you Midgardians need to be taught some manners." And slowly, his hand was brought to your back, running down the length of your spine. Teeth clenched, eyes squeezed shut, you tried to remove yourself from the moment, knowing more than likely what was coming from the dominant, power-hungry male. But then, smack!
Your eyes shot open, the sting of your ass cheek startling you. Another hard spank, the sting almost making you yelp as your body went forward.
"Now," he said calmly, evenly in your ear as you looked straight ahead. "You have two options." Smack! "One, you stop being stubborn and admit your defeat." Smack! "Or two, you stay on this desk until I decide you've learned that lesson." Smack!
Your legs trembled as you held onto the edge of the desk. You hated him, hated this… and yet, a warm ache started to slowly whisper within. No, you couldn't… With every ounce of strength, you tried to block it out. "What… what are you gonna do to me?"
He chuckled and you couldn't quite tell if it was out of amusement or something darker. "Not to worry, my pet. I only bed willing participants."
His hand rested on the small of your back and he leaned forward. "Now, tell me. Have you learned your lesson?"
He caught your eye and you struggled to answer. How did you reply without letting him win? Maybe, if you said yes, he would lower his defenses and then you'd— Another spank caught you by surprise and a yelp escaped in spite of yourself. "I asked you a question and do not enjoy repeating myself."
You took a shaky breath, he had you so off guard and you hated how it was making you feel.
Looking up, you gave him the best innocent look you could muster and nodded slowly. He reached for the back of your head, gripping your hair to tilt your head up towards him with a jerk. "Have you?"
"Yes," you choked out. You hated him! You hated him! You hated him!
He considered you, bent over his desk, head bent back violently so, breathing heavily and shaking, and then, he just let you go. You stood after a beat, confused and feeling embarrassed.
"Leave," he demanded, walking out of the study to another room. Red-faced, your stomach churned. Did he seriously just…
"Hey!" you shouted, following his path to the other room, but when you got there, he was gone. Searching room by room, your anger built as you found each one empty.
A rage burned through your veins as you stormed down the hall toward Thor's chambers. You were done with this mission, with these stupid mind games, with the princes of Asgard. You wanted to go home and call the mission what it was–a failure.
Done with courtesy and manners, you barged into his chambers without warning. "Thor, I need to talk to you–"
The words caught in your throat as you stopped in your tracks, finding Loki already there. Thor said your name like a pleasant surprise. "You look an absolute wreck! Are you alright?"
"Wha–" the words caught in your throat as you looked down at your shifted top, feeling your face redden, hair a mess.
"Well, no matter," Thor continued. "Your ears must be ringing, we were just discussing your return to Midgard."
"You… you were?"
Loki's lack of eye contact was not lost on you.
"Indeed," Thor continued. "My brother believes that we have no use of you here and should send you back immediately. His words, not mine." Thor laughed, caused by your startled expression and Loki's uncharacteristic silence. "But, as neither of you are willing to speak freely on what matters are going on, I reject this request."
Both you and Loki raised your voices, you taking a step forward. How long did he plan to keep you here against your will?
Thor raised his hand. "You both think me a fool, but until I know why you are here, I will not change my mind. Classified or not."
Your jaw clenched, fists tightened, and you stormed out of his chambers, slamming the door behind you.
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
Loki winced as the door slammed. "I don't believe she was happy with your decision."
"No, I think not. Anything you care to tell me?"
Loki shook his head. "There is nothing to tell. She's a nuisance and Asgard should be rid of her."
Thor placed his hand on his brother's shoulder. "Loki, you may be the god of lies, but even I can see through this one."
Loki left the chambers deep in thought. He absolutely despised Midgardians–mortals who risked their lives every day, absolute fools they were. Pompous, annoying little gremlins.
And yet, he had enjoyed the little game he was playing with you. You were a challenge for him and getting under your skin was pure pleasure. But, there was something in the look you gave him as he held your head up that he knew. It made him realize he was playing with fire, and this game was getting too dangerous. He needed to rid himself of you.
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
Almost a week had passed and he hadn't reappeared. You'd toured the gardens, the library, the royal throne room, dined in their mess hall and terrace multiple times; it was clear by day three that he was actively avoiding you, and somehow that was even more irksome. It should have been a relief to be rid of his annoying presence, but you were equally on edge. What if he caught you off guard? The possibilities of what would happen were endless with that twisted mind of his. Torture you? Strangle you at night? The nights were restless, with every creak and whistle of wind making you jump.
By day five, enough was enough. If Thor wouldn't budge in sending you home and Loki wouldn't show himself, you would take matters into your own hands.
The nightly strolls through the halls were becoming commonplace, and it wasn't long before the familiar chamber doors stood before you again. The rooms were illuminated by moonlight. He was deep asleep in his bed, bare-chested with only a sheet to cover him at the hips. Your dagger was unsheathed and slowly you pressed it to his neck. His eyes opened and he took a sharp breath inward.
"Don't move," you whispered.
"Alright." His voice was steady.
"You're going to help me leave this planet."
His eyebrows raised in surprise. "Am I?"
"Yes."
"And…what if I refuse?"
You pressed the dagger harder to his neck. He could see the desperation on your face. "I don't think you are in a position to refuse."
He smirked at you, like he understood a joke you weren't in on. "Didn't you come to Asgard to kill me?"
He was absolutely the most abhorrent person you'd ever met. Why would he bring this up? Should you kill him? He was right there, the knife pressed to his neck. One swipe and…
He grabbed onto your arms, taking you out of your thoughts and pulling you closer to him. "Do it."
You blinked and froze. Something in your stomach twisted. "I… I can't. Why can't I kill you?"
In a quick motion, he rolled you onto your back, his weight heavy. Your hand shook and he leaned in, pressing down on the dagger, further and further, until his lips met yours. Your breath was lost and the dagger slipped between the two of you to clatter onto the floor. He gripped onto your clothes, pulling and tearing and breaking.
He wasn't gentle, wasn't kind. There was no room for romance or making love. It was carnal, rough. A desire that neither wanted to admit to themselves.
Pain in the most pleasurable form, as his lips pressed hard onto yours. As clothing was torn in desperation. As your undergarments were stretched and discarded until you were just as naked as he. His eyes and mouth and fingers explored the areas only meant for a lover.
His long digits played with your silky folds before delving into the warm wet center, causing you to shiver in delight. You reached down between your bodies to grasp on an already stiff cock, making it throb, a moan emitting from him like an ache that hadn't been relieved in years, before he took your hand from beneath him and placed it above your head. In a swiftness, he sheathed himself inside you, causing your eyes to grow large, your head to come forward, your teeth to sink into his skin. He shifted, looking down at you, the minx who had wanted him dead, and thought how beautiful and fragile you were. He could have snapped you in two like a twig if he had wished it. Instead, he'd punish you until you came, over and over again; tattooing his existence on your soul for the rest of your eternity.
The angle of his cock rubbed in a way you'd never felt before by any Midgardian man, and soon your body was convulsing below him. He let you ride out your high before flipping you onto your stomach and penetrating from behind. A shaky high-pitched moan emitted from you, making him smile in satisfaction. He wrapped his hands around your throat, bringing your head up higher to whisper with a smile, "I think you've admitted your defeat."
"You never shut up, do you?"
"Never."
With a smack of your bottom, he thrust into you until he was spent and you were ruined. The silky sheets of his bed melted into your skin as you lay quiet in thought after. You didn't fail missions. You also didn't fuck them. Contemplating what you'd write on your report, Loki emerged from the other room, dressed and ready to take you back to Midgard. He handed you the clothes you first arrived on this planet in.
As you dressed, preparing for your arrival back home, you studied him. He was, without a doubt, the most abhorrent, irritating person you'd ever met. And yet, something drew you to him that you didn't understand.
"Alright," he said when he saw you were dressed. "Let's get you back to where you belong." You nodded, wondering if you'd ever see him again, hoping you wouldn't…but not for the reason you'd expect.

It had been an accident, but you were convinced that the innocent mistake was going to ruin your Christmas, and possibly the rest of your life. Thor had dropped by the compound to flex his muscles and herd some escaped convicts from Agsard who had sought refuge in midgard. Steve, Tony and Bucky had offered to help, letting the rest of the Avengers and you continue to work on your own tasks and pick up the slack. They made it back home without a scratch, but Thor’s exuberance and bluster lead to a small bolt of lightning breaking off from Mjölnir’s strike, hitting Steve unexpectedly in the face. He hadn’t even had time to grab his shield from Bucky’s arm during the commotion.
Steve woke up flat on his back with you, Bucky and Thor leaning over him worriedly. You stroked his face gently as his eyes fluttered open, a wave of relief washing over you. It would definitely take more than a single bolt of lightning to defeat Captain America!
Steve groaned and looked around, his vision adjusting slowly to his surroundings. “What happened?”
He caught sight of Bucky on his left. “Buck?”
“Hey bud, how you feeling?” Bucky asked him gently.
“Like someone punched me in the face.” He scrunched his eyes shut and shook his head from side to side to clear the fog from his brain.
“Steve?” You put a hand on his chest.
Steve sat up, looking at you with intrigue. “Sorry, ma’am. I hope I didn’t startle you.”
“Ma’am?” you asked, surprised by the way he spoke to you.
“Did you call an ambulance, Bucky?” Steve asked.
Bucky frowned at Steve’s reaction. “No, pal. Y/N always like to dress like that!” He smirked at you.
“Do you two know each other?” he asked before looking straight ahead of him and seeing Thor in his full armor. His jaw dropped to the floor unceremoniously. “Bucky, what’s going on? Where are we?”
“Steve, it’s okay, we’re home. We’re just outside the compound.”
“Home?” Steve asked again, looking around and not recognizing his surroundings. He looked around feeling like he was in a foreign land. This confusion was giving way to panic as he laid his eyes on the magnificent, glass-paned, Stark-designed building looming on the horizon. “Who are you people?”
“Steve, it’s me. Y/N.” You took one of his hands gently between both of yours.
It crushed your heart when he pulled it away slowly. “I- I’m sorry. Have we met?”
“You don't know who I am?” you asked with a slight tremble to your lip.
“I'm sorry, ma'am.”
“Steve,” Bucky put his vibranium hand on his best friend's shoulder, making Steve recoil slightly as the hard metal made contact with his shoulder.
You saw the look of hurt that flickered across Bucky's face.
“What is that?” he asked, finally taking in Bucky's appearance, his long hair, bearded face and prosthetic arm. “What happened to you, Buck? And… are you shorter than me?”
Steve looked down at himself, finally understanding that he was the one who was different.
“Steve, what do you think the date is?” Bucky asked and you knew he was thinking the same thing as you.
“August 19th. But I'm guessing it's not because it's snowing out here.”
“And the year?” you whispered, hoping he wouldn't confirm your fears.
“1942.”
There was a collective sigh of disappointment as everyone around you reacted to his words. Steve's memories only extended as far as the war, after Bucky had been drafted but before he had received his orders. His memories of the serum and Captain America had gone, including his memory of you.
“Steve, we should get you back inside. Figure out what's going on with you.”
“I feel fine, thank you.”
“Bud, we should get you to the med bay. You got hit pretty hard and you seem to have forgotten a lot of things,” Bucky intervened, knowing that Steve wouldn't necessarily take advice from a stranger. He put his flesh hand on Steve's shoulder this time and led him away. Steve followed without so much of a backward glance at you.
“Sorry kid, that was rough.” Tony's shoulder rubbed against yours. “Don't worry, I'm sure we'll figure out how to get his memories back. Come on!” He beckoned to you before flying back to the compound with only the lower half of his suit engaged.
Begrudgingly, you forced your feet to follow your friends back inside. You made your way to the infirmary and stood behind a glass screen watching Steve speaking to Bruce, your fingers subconsciously fiddling with a metal band on your left hand. It should be you standing there taking care of the love of your life, tending his needs. But instead you were hiding while all your friends surrounded him in an effort to jog his memory.
Over the next week in the lead up to Christmas, you went about your usual tasks and preparations for the holiday but it just didn't feel the same without Steve by your side. You missed how he would hover over you as you cooked or held your hand as you walked, you missed your morning runs and how he would push you to beat your own times, making you run further, faster and longer than you'd ever done before. He inspired you, he encouraged you, he loved you.
Now you felt lost without him. Despite his physical proximity, you could no longer feel the emotional intimacy you'd built. Every time you saw him, he was accompanied by a member of the team but he mostly sought the company of Bucky, feeling far more comfortable with him than anyone else. Surprisingly they had all respected your request to approach Steve on your own terms. You had explained that it was so that you didn't overwhelm him with information, but in reality you were afraid, terrified in fact that he might reject you.
What you hadn't noticed was how Steve's eyes were constantly on you when you were in a room together. It often made Bucky chuckle and roll his eyes but true to his word, he kept his mouth shut. In fact, Bucky had become a better friend to you in the last week than he ever had been before. He had started running with you in the morning so you wouldn't be out alone. And despite telling him you didn't need a babysitter, he insisted that Steve would never forgive him if anything happened to his best girl. You loved Bucky for his loyalty.
“Don't worry, you'll get him back,” he reassured you with a gentle nudge of his elbow.
“I hope so, Buck, I really do.”
It was Christmas Eve and you were feeling a little overwhelmed by the feelings of loss you'd been pushing away until now. You decided to slip away from the compound to avoid the pitying glances and worried questions from your closest friends. Grabbing your headphones, a waterproof jacket and your running shoes, you escaped to the solitude of the lake within the grounds of the compound.
You used your powers to push yourself, let out your emotions. A disney playlist was pounding against your ears and as you reached the edge of the frozen lake Let it Go started playing. Lost in a world of your own, you started singing along to the music, using your powers to swirl snow around you in an attempt to imitate Elsa’s theatrics from the movie. Unbeknownst to you, you had an audience. Steve and Bucky had also a similar idea of getting in a run and Bucky, who had seen you leave, had steered his friend in your direction.
They watched from a distance as you danced and sang out your emotions. Steve stood enraptured with wonder at your display, his jaw hung loosely until Bucky gently closed it for him.
“Go talk to her,” he smiled knowingly.
“What am I supposed to say, Buck? She already knows me.”
“Trust me, pal, that’s a good thing. Just go and be yourself.” Bucky shoved his best friend in your direction.
The momentum from Bucky’s gentle push got Steve walking over to you, his footsteps crunching in the snow. He was surprised that you didn’t hear his footfalls but the music pounding in your ears had you lost to the world. That was until-
You reacted blindly to the hand on your shoulder, grabbing Steve’s hand and using your powers to flip him over onto his back on the dock.
“Steve!” you shrieked. “Oh my gosh, are you alright?”
Steve chuckled. He was surprised not only by your reaction, but the fact that he wasn’t winded by the force with which you’d slammed him to the ground.
“What have I told you about all the sneaking?” you pulled him up into a seated position.
“I don't remember,” Steve shrugged, trying to smile innocently as you sat down beside him and hung your feet off the dock.
A sudden laugh burst from your lips and in that moment Steve vowed that he would spend the rest of his life getting you to do it every single day. Unfortunately, your laugh ended with a sigh.
“I didn't mean to startle you,” he apologized.
“It's okay, I'm just worried about your safety!”
“I think I'm safe. My body is different from what I remember.”
“How does it feel?” you asked curiously. You'd asked Steve about his transformation before, but Steve had always brushed it off, that it had been his duty to change. Perhaps now you'd get a more truthful answer.
“Different… liberating.” He smiled at you shyly. “I used to have to worry about the cold weather, I couldn't run without the threat of dying. My reflexes aren't too shabby either.”
“It must be pretty overwhelming, all these changes.” You didn't just mean his physical changes.
“Yeah, it's not been easy,” he shuffled uncomfortably beside you. “Finding out that I did this to myself to fight in the war, that Bucky suffered so much,” Steve sighed, he always blamed himself for Bucky's experiences, that hadn't changed. “And don't get me started on the twenty-first century!”
“That one's a doozy, huh?” You nudged his shoulder with yours.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Always.”
“Why haven't you tried to help me remember my past?”
“I didn't want you to feel pressured to remember. It's been a lot for you.”
“Thank you, I appreciate that. At least Christmas doesn't seem so different. Do you have anyone special to spend it with?” He nodded at the diamond studded ring on your finger.
He had noticed. Naturally he had, your Steve was a very observant man. You wondered if there was a chance of rekindling the romance between you, even if he didn't regain his memories. The thought saddened you. You'd built a strong foundation through your shared memories and experiences, it almost seemed unfair for you to have that advantage. But here he was, the head strong, stubborn and scrappy man you loved. He was no different to the man you'd grown to love even if he didn't know it.
Steve presented himself to the world as Captain America, someone who gave off an air of confidence and calm, but to you, he was Steve Rogers, a scrawny kid from Brooklyn who never backed away from a fight.
“Yeah, I do. I'm hoping he gets back home in time for the holiday.”
Steve sighed. He was surprised that Bucky had encouraged him to pursue a woman who was already taken.
“But I wouldn't mind your company till he comes home.” You batted your eyelids and spoke slightly flirtatiously, wondering if he would notice.
“I know that it's not really my business, but I was wondering if you could tell me about your fiancé.”
Wow, Steve was a bit of a sucker for punishment. Maybe he liked you more than you thought.
“He's kind and smart. He’s brave… strong. But the thing I admire the most about him is how determined he is to do the right thing. He puts everyone before himself, so I consider it my duty to make sure someone’s around to take care of him. Plus he’s incredibly handsome, so that doesn't hurt.”
Steve laughed, mesmerized by you but he could feel a sinking feeling inside him. Of course you wouldn't be interested in him.
“Oh and he has this really cool superhero name. It's Captain America!” You winked at him with a smirk playing on your lips.
“But-”
You watched Steve's face as the penny finally dropped.
“Why didn't you say anything?” he asked.
“I thought it would be a bit too much information. Don't you think?” You paused, before adding. “And to be honest, I was a little scared.”
It took a few moments for you to get the courage to look up into Steve's face, hoping he wasn't completely repulsed by your admission.
“No one else here has mentioned that you… we were engaged.”
“They don't know. We were going to tell them but then this happened and well-” you shrugged. “Plus, you weren't planning to propose until Christmas Day, but someone-” you prodded him in the side. “Someone got a little impatient.”
Steve blushed. “Well how could anyone wait to be married to someone as beautiful as you.”
It was your turn to blush. Which was followed by a shiver, your body trembled a little as a cold wind picked up around you. Chivalrous to a fault, Steve took off his own jacket and wrapped it around your shoulders. “Why don't we go back inside?”
“Yeah,” you puffed out the word along with a small cloud of mist. “It feels like it's going to start snowing again.”
The two of you made your way back to the compound side by side in a comfortable silence. The backs of your hands brushing against each other but neither of you finding it in yourselves to reach out and take hold. Steve opened the door and held it open for you to enter first.
As soon as you both entered the threshold and shut out the cold, you looked up at Steve, smiling at the pink tinge on his cheeks and the sweet smile on his lips. You longed to feel his arms wrapped around you. Just as you were able to tear yourself away, Steve grabbed your wrist.
You turned back to him and noticed that he was pointing up at something. You followed the direction of his finger and a smile broke out on your face. Someone had tied a sprig of mistletoe from the ceiling.
“Is that-?”
“Yeah.” He answered your unasked question.
“I guess that means I owe you a kiss.”
“Far be it from me to break age old traditions. We wouldn't want to risk bad luck, would we?”
You moved back to face Steve, but he seemed to have lost that courage to move further. “I- this isn't something I've done before.”
“That's alright. I think we'll manage just fine.”
A warmth blossomed in Steve’s chest, sparks igniting as you leaned in close, lips brushing together, tentatively, for the first time.  The smell of your strawberry scented conditioner made Steve dizzy with anticipation, butterflies dancing in his stomach.
Your warmth consumed him as you leaned up into the kiss, Steve’s lips impossibly soft against your own. The kiss was soft at first, chaste and innocent. His warm lips were soft and parted slightly giving permission for your tongue to enter his mouth. His nose nudged yours gently as you moaned quietly. Oh how you had missed him!
As he opened his eyes, he looked down at you as though he was seeing you for the first time. Every time Steve had imagined magic, this is exactly how he had pictured it. He knew everything about you, how could he have ever forgotten you?
“Y/N,” he said softly. “I made it home for Christmas.”

The drive to your team welcoming at the winery made 45 minutes of highway feel simultaneously far too long yet excruciatingly short.
After what happened in the corridor, you really didn't have much to say. The only words really spoken between you and Steve was you thanking him for getting the car door for you, then him insisting that you played your music.
After a few minutes on the road, Steve stole a few quick glances at you to try and gauge how you were really feeling, but your head was leaned all the way back against the headrest, and your eyes were always either closed or staring absentmindedly on the scenery around you.
He took no offense, in fact, he was glad that you were calm at the very least. Deep down he knew you were always feeling at least a little worse- if not a lot worse than you expressed to anyone. But like always, there was a time and place to address issues. Pulling into a parking spot at the winery and putting his car into park was not the time, nor the place.
Taking a quick peek through his rearview mirror, he could see a few special guests had already arrived, and he could only hope it would help ease the distress you never deserved to have inflicted on you.
Steve turned to you with an empathetic grin tugging at the corners of his lips. "Last chance to run away?"
You turned your head to look at him with a lazy smile, and an unexpected giggle. "I can't run in these shoes."
"If it gets too overwhelming, you know I'll be here. Just tell me, I'll sneak you away for a bit of fresh air." He reminded you.
"You're making me feel like I'm about to be eaten alive" You raised your eyebrow.
Steve shook his head. "No, you're not. I've been on this team for so many years I stopped counting and even I still get overwhelmed by all of them sometimes. Things like this can be a lot even on a perfectly good day."
"I'm guessing I'll relax after a glass of wine or two" You reassured him and yourself. "It'll be like nothing ever happened, nobody even has to know."
That sent red flags raising high in Steve's head. Now he knew for sure you were in worse shape than you were letting on.
"Bug," Steve shot you a serious glare. "You can be sad, it's okay to be sad."
"I'll be sad later." You surrendered. "Right now I'm so happy and honored to be part of such a welcoming and supportive team. We're all going to have a wonderful night, and everything is going to be fine."
"Promise me right now that after this is over you'll cut the bullshit and stop telling me you're fine." Steve held out his pinky to you. All you did was narrow your eyes at him, you knew he could read you like a book far below his intelligence level, and it was equal parts endearing and frustrating. "We both know that's a lie, and we both know there's no reason for you to have to go through any of this alone anymore. We both know this is the beginning of the end of all of your suffering, and should it get worse before it gets better, you have a whole team of people who want to help you and be there for you."
"Fine." With an internal defeat, you wrapped your pinky around his. "I'll be sad later, but only if you get me a glass of wine while I socialize so I don't seem like a bitch for booking it to the bar."
"Great" Steve smiled, shaking your intertwined pinky fingers, locking in the deal. "Pleasure doing business with you."
"This is the worst deal ever." You shook your head with a smile on your face while reaching for the car door handle.
An immediate gasp full of personal offense left Steve faster than you anticipated, and you got ready for the fight you two had nearly every time you got into a car together. "Do not reach for that car door ma'am."
"Twinkles, I have two fully functioning arms and legs. I can open my own car door." You made the same argument you've made a million times before.
"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." Steve shook his head at you, his face full of disappointment. "Stay right there before I put the child safety lock on the passenger side of the door."
"Logistically, it'll take more time for you to get out, walk around, open my door, wait for me to get out, then close my door than if I were to just get out on my own." You laughed.
“Yeah well, logistically, this reoccurring argument takes a lot of time as well yet you always seem to want to spark it." Steve spoke as he got out of the car, his door closing behind him. Very quickly making his way to you, he opened your door and offered you his arm to help you out. "See, didn't take that long. Look, this is an unpaved parking lot and you're wearing a pretty high heel which means you could've tripped and fallen and broken an ankle, and it would've been all my fault."
"How could you possibly sleep at night?!" You agreed sarcastically as you got out of the car, and he closed the door behind you.
"I never do." Steve noted. "This is why I have insomnia."
"Too many women and too many unpaved parking lots in this world." You agreed, walking with him towards the entrance. "We really need to contact someone about this."
It didn't take long to enter the beautiful outdoor space that was far too big to be reserved just for the team. You immediately felt like you were the main character of a hallmark movie, strings of twinkling lights shined above your head, the grounds were well maintained, full of plants, tables, and even a dreamy gazebo that was also illuminated by strings of lights.
There were candles lit along pathways and atop the standing tables, booths open that served food, and no less than 20 different wine options, and a whole bunch of friendly faces that all started clapping and cheering when you walked in.
Definitely not expecting that much immediate   attention, your cheeks widened into a smile and deepened in color before your hands moved up to hide your face. It only took a few moments before you were brave enough to peak through your fingers to recognize faces you didn't quite expect to be there.
All you expected were the avengers that lived in the compound or near by, but to see faces like Thor, Clint, and even that Spider-Kid who definitely was not 21 and was out passed his bedtime was a pleasant surprise.
Another pleasant surprise was the sweet faces of your mom and dad, sister and brother in law, and a handful of your friends from back home.
Your hands dropped from your face and showed off your full toothy smile and pink cheeks that Steve loved so much it made his heart skip a beat.
It nearly dropped out of his chest and deep into his stomach when you turned to him. "Did you invite them?"
"Of course I did" Steve nodded with a cheeky smile. "I wanted you to feel more comfortable, and you deserve to be celebrated by your family too, not just ours."
Much like earlier in the day when he gave you the suit, your arms flew around him fast and tight. It was shorter this time due to the audience, but Steve still loved it nonetheless. "Thank you so much, you're so sweet."
"You're very welcome" Steve smiled. "I'll go get us some wine like I promised, but I do feel like I need to say hello to your family first considering I've been texting them to arrange this. But I'll be quick!"
"I have so many questions" You raised your eyebrow at him.
"Save them for later!" Steve told you while walking straight towards your parents.
With full trust that nothing chaotic would happen in that interaction, you scanned faces once more and realized Bucky and Nat were missing. You knew why, but it made your happy mood deflate again until Thor was the first of the bunch to walk up and introduce himself.
You made your way through Bruce, Carol, and even said hi to Maria Hill regardless of the fact that you worked with her many times before.
Steve did make it to you with a glass of wine in each of his hands between your interactions with people. "Here you go, Bugs. Not quite sure what this wine is but I told the nice girl at the bar you liked white wine so she poured you her favorite."
"You're the best." Your cheers your glass against his.
"Ugh, I know right?" He agreed sarcastically, drinking down a grin with a sip of red.
Your quick interaction with Steve made your family approach you to celebrate, but he definitely wanted you to have your time alone with them so he slipped away just as fast as he came.
Lots of hugs, lots of chatting, then lots of them pushing you away to go hang out with the Avengers.
Somewhere between Peter Parker and more time with Sam, a quick scan of the crowd had you realizing that now the Avengers were co-mingling with your family and friends. Oh, and Bucky and Natasha finally got there 45 minutes into the actual event.
Lost in conversation with Scott Lang about the most recent episode of that one sitcom he so happened to bring up, a pair of forearms wrapped around you from behind.
You pretty much expected it to be anybody but Natasha, but you were pleasantly surprised that she was already so comfortable with you. "Sorry we're late, but Rogers' mess is cleaned up and you'll never see it again. Also, you look hot in that dress."
There was no chance to thank her or apologize for the mess as she quickly galavanted off into the crowd.
Scott was pulled away from you about 10 minutes later, and your glass became empty of wine. Feeling mildly confident at this point that you had at least introduced yourself and greeted everyone there, you felt comfortable enough to go get a refill on your own.
Another heavy pour and you were back out. Conversation flowed a lot easier than expected between the groups you found yourself in. There was always something to talk about, laughter was a common occurrence, but somehow the mess in the corridor kept seeping into your mind no matter how hard you tried to push it down.
Eventually Bucky found his way to you, and somehow the comfort of one of your best friends helped quiet down all of the unnecessary noise in your brain.
In true Bucky fashion, he approached with plenty of food in hand. Setting a full wood fire pizza on the table, he pushed the whole tray towards you.
"You haven't been eating enough for someone at an event with free food" He noted.
"Hello to you too" You grinned, taking down another big gulp of wine.
"Steve told me you were worried about me." Bucky's face softened.
"I'm always worried about you, that's what friends are for." You agreed with Steve's statement.
"You know what that agent said about me tonight is nothing but water off a ducks back." He reassured you. "But what he said about you is what bothered me. That is what I take personally, and that's what I can't let anyone get away with."
You sighed. "What did you do, Buck?"
"Nat fired him, we both got him on some gnarly lists to ensure he's going to have a hard time finding another job." He explained. "I think Steve did enough damage that the dumbass will probably never reproduce, which is probably a blessing to the next generation. We didn't help him up though, he can figure that out himself."
"Don't you think that's a bit harsh?"
"If it was up to me. I wouldn't have left it at just his balls, but I digress" Bucky shrugged. "I'm really happy you're back, Buggy. I've been smiling all day knowing you're here."
"Well for what's it's worth, I'm sorry people have been saying rude things about you because of me, and I'm happy to be here to hopefully get back on the right foot. I missed you and Steve a lot these past couple of months."
"It's not your fault, so I'm not accepting that apology." Bucky denied. "But I will accept a hug because I missed you too."
"Tough crowd." You grinned before wrapping your arms around him and leaving them there for a while.
Then, he started whispering in your ear. "This was a trap I just wanted to gossip in peace"
You let out an uncontrollable laugh, starting to feel the effects the wine had on you. "What's up? What's the gossip?" You tried to whisper back but it was a little hard to get the words quietly past your smile.
"Has Steve kissed you yet?" Bucky asked in a dramatic whisper.
“No, I don't think he ever will." You denied. "But I just got back last night, give him some grace."
"I don't think he will either. He's really scared of you." He agreed with you. "Do you need me to yell at him for that? Or I can just kind've shove your faces together when I find the opportunity?"
He pulled another laugh from you. "No, it's okay. He's scared, he needs to go at his own pace."
"Have you admitted to yourself that you like him yet?"
"Unfortunately you knew that before I did, but yes, and I told him that too."
"Good, good." Bucky started to pull away from the hug, but your wrapped your arms tighter around him.
"Tell me about you and Nat now" You trapped him.
"Well I'm not a scaredy cat like Steve is so... Girlfriend."
You gasped with a smile and pulled back to observe his face. But it was obvious he wasn't lying to you, so you lit up once more. "I'm so happy for you!"
Raising your hand up for a high five, Bucky hit his metal palm against your hand.
From across the winery and under the gazebo, Steve watched this whole interaction between you and Bucky. He was pleasantly surprised when jealousy never rushed through his veins watching the two of you hug.
Thats when Steve realized how secure he felt with you now. He understood now more than ever that you and Bucky were purely platonic, and it was evident in the way you two looked at and touched each other. In fact, he even felt a sense of warmth and happiness watching you two have a secretive conversation that wasn't so slick. Maybe it would've been a little more discreet had you been a bit more sober, but he found it endearing nonetheless. He found himself feeling hopeful that soon enough the three of you really could smooth over the damage and go back to hanging out together, a notion that once felt impossible.
He was even happier when he saw the both of you take a slice of pizza, cheers, then eat together.
After that, he stopped watching. He was so content knowing that Bucky was keeping an eye on you. Maybe that's where he overestimated his false sense of security, because along with the pizza, Bucky brought you another glass of wine which only meant you were feeling sillier and more socially confident by the second.
At some point Steve fell deep into conversation with your dad, they were getting along so well, in fact, he hadn't even noticed that he spent about a whole hour and a half alone under the fairy light illuminated gazebo with him. They also didn't notice that you were getting along with the team so well it's like you were always part of the little family to begin with.
He didn't catch you and your sister flipping each other off from across the venue as often as you could, he didn't see the way you and Peter made a secret handshake, or even when you exchanged phone numbers with Bruce. He missed Sam making you laugh so hard you nearly peed your pants, then you, Nat, and Wanda disappearing to the bathroom for a solid ten minutes then coming back with your lipstick magically perfect again.
He also missed your fourth glass of wine.
But that was pretty obvious when you walked out of the bathroom and into the social event, scanning the intimate crowd to try and spot anyone to engage in conversation.
Thats when you noticed your mom batting her eyelashes and giggling in a one on one conversation with Tony, while your dad was batting his eyelashes and giggling under the gazebo with Steve.
A bit wobbly on your feet, you walked over to them and held onto the wooden entrance as you stepped up. Both of their attention was drawn to you from their spot on a bench.
You squinted your eyes at your dad. "Hello, Father."
"Daughter" He raised an eyebrow at you.
Steve didn't know where this interaction was about to go, so he observed carefully.
"Steve, is this strange man bothering you?" You asked him.
Steve laughed as your dad reached over to you and flicked the side of your head, you remained unfazed. "Not in the slightest."
"She's drunk" Your dad told Steve while covering your ears.
"I'm not drunk, I'm silly and perhaps a bit goofy, but I am not drunk." You grabbed your dad's wrists and pulled his hands off your ears. "My sobriety should be the least of your concerns at the moment."
"Why is that?" Your dad asked.
"Tony Stark is flirting with your wife." You pointed to your mom and Tony.
Steve followed your pointed finger and saw that you were actually right, and that made him laugh. "That's really concerning."
Your dad sighed. "So what? I have to fight Iron Man now? You chose to be a superhero and now I have to fight Iron Man for your own Mother?"
"Get used to it." You stuck your tongue out at him.
He stuck his tongue out right back at you before turning to Steve. "Please excuse me, I need to rescue my wife."
"By all means" Steve agreed.
When your dad walked off and you were alone with Steve, you sat down right next to him and pulled his arm around your shoulders before you closed your eyes and rested your head on him.
You didn't see his smile as he pulled you as close as he could and rubbed the top of your arm. "How are you doing?"
"Cold, tired, feet hurt." You mumbled. "Drunk"
"I thought you said you weren't drunk?" Steve quipped happily.
“Well, you're not my dad so you get to know the truth." You snuggled into him. "More truth, you smell really nice, and I just need to sit here for a little while."
A giggle escaped Steve from your confessions. "Are you having fun?"
"More fun than I thought" You nodded. "I'm so warm and fuzzy inside. It's been so long since I've felt happy like this."
That wiped the smile clean off of Steve's face. "I'm so happy that you're happy. It'll keep getting better, I'll make sure of it."
"I wish it could just be like this all the time." The feelings you never talk about spilling out of your mouth. "Life could be so good, and I really love it sometimes. I just don't know how to not take what other people do to me personally. You and Bucky are so good at that."
"You're good at everything you do, and life is about to get so much better for you, sweet girl. I promise."
"I'm trying really hard to believe you." You smiled. "I probably sound sad, but I'm happy right now. 'M always happy when I'm with you."
"You can stay with me however long you want, I'm happy with you too." He squeezed your shoulder.
"How did you guys plan such an elaborate event when nobody even knew if I would agree to be an avenger or if I would even be back at the compound today?" You asked.
"We used magic and our intuition" He said with a smile.
"You are so magical" Your alcohol influenced mind marveled. "And who in my family have you been communicating with because that's so magical"
"Your sister and your mom" Steve giggled at your question. "Your family is very nice and really fun to be around."
"Did my dad tell you embarrassing stories about me?"
"Surprisingly, no he didn't."
"Good, good. Let's keep it that way."
Closing your eyes, you let the wine and Steve's body heat relax all your muscles and wash the tension away. Unsure of how long you had actually been there, there was a point in which you could feel Steve shift to look at an approaching person.
An uncontrollable laugh escaped your intoxicated mind as whoever Steve was looking at sat on the other side of you and snuggled into your body the same way you were snuggled up to Steve, but for some reason you still didn't want to open your eyes.
"Wow, this is lovely" The voice said. It sounded like Sam, but you couldn't be too sure.
"Hey, I want in on this too" Sounded loudly from far away. Footsteps came running, and Maria plopped onto Sam's lap sideways. She kicked her legs over your and Steve's laps.
Slowly but surely, more Avengers, family and friends ended up under the gazebo with you and Steve. The cuddle pile grew with Scott and Nat, and lasted longer than it probably should've.
You were fed enough food by pretty much everyone while you all drunkenly told stories and laughed so hard that your stomach hurt that you eventually sobered up.
Once you were sober again, you realized just how fast time had flown by and were sad to hug your parents goodbye. You're pretty sure your mom hugged and your dad fist-bumped nearly every single person at the event, but that was neither here nor there.
Eventually everyone said goodbye, and by the time you got back into Steve's car it was already almost midnight. And by the time you got home and into Steve's bed, all of your energy was more than depleted. Social battery was in the negative, but you felt like you had been plugged into a high speed charger when he got under the covers next to you.
"How are you feeling?" That seemed to be everyone's favorite question to ask you.
"I kind've feel like you right now" With your eyes closed, your laid on your back with one arm above your head and the other resting over your hoodie on top of your belly.
Steve giggled "what is that supposed to mean?"
"I feel like I'm going to throw up."
"Any particular reason why?"
"I ate too much, drank too much wine. I'm bloated but happy so it's a small price to pay." You explained.
"Well if you're going to throw up, aim in that direction" Steve smiled and pointed in the opposite direction of himself. "Are you still drunk? Do you need some water?"
"No I'm not, I'm okay" Your smile barely ghosted your lips. "Just need some sleep."
Steve reached over and pulled some blankets over your frame before poking your cheek. "Remember what you promised me earlier?"
Your eyes opened to look at him. "I feel better, really. I do."
Steve sighed. "You don't even want to talk about it?"
"What is there to say?" You questioned. "All the same shit, different day. There's nothing I can do about that anymore."
"When this all first started, you were getting sent to my office nearly every day for fighting back, but tonight you kind've froze up. Why?"
"I wasn't expecting anyone to do that to me when I was with you." You answered. "But it's done now, it's fine."
"We both know it's not done" Steve's face softened. "And avoiding it doesn't make it go away."
"Would you like me to rewind time and kick him in the balls instead?"
"No, I just want you to know you can talk to me." Steve emphasized.
"I'm pissed off." You admitted. "I'm always in a state of being angry that this is the environment that I have to learn to thrive in every day, but I've also reached a state of emotional exhaustion that makes me feel like I have no room left to be even more angry than I already am. I've hit max capacity, so I'm choosing to stay as calm as I can because out of all the kicks and punches I've thrown, none of them have worked before. I have no reason to believe it'll work now."
“It's not fair." Steve huffed like kid.
"It never has been." You agreed with a shrug. "But you don't need to hold onto that anger for me. I'm trying to let go of it and move on."
"I'll let go of my anger in the form of making change." Steve told you, now feeling brave enough to pull you close to him.
You snuggled up close, your head on his bicep and your arm holding him gently. "I'm an avenger now. That's all the change I know how to make at the moment."
"I'm so proud of you" he practically whispered. "But I've never met anyone like you before."
"You really need to work on providing context before sentences that might hurt my feelings"
Steve chuckled at your bluntness. "You're telling me that you're happy, but you're also telling me that you're sad. Both of those statements feel genuine, so I don't really know where your mind is."
"Well then imagine how complex and confusing it is to be me" You emphasized. "Never in my whole life have I felt more alone while also feeling more loved than ever. I'm happy and sad, I just accomplished something most people never will by becoming an avenger yet I've also never felt more like a loser. This is the first time I've ever been relentlessly bullied but it's also the first time I've ever been a superhero so I guess the juxtaposition of my emotions is just turning my brain into scrambled eggs."
"Have you tried compartmentalization?" Steve offered with a grain of salt.
"I tried that once, I think I created too many emotional categories and got overwhelmed." You smiled. "But I'm a Gemini, so these complexities have been written in the stars for me since the moment I was brought onto the earth. I think I was born for the very purpose of the universe testing to see if overwhelming contradictory emotions could physically kill a human being."
"One of my greater purposes in life is to protect people against the things that could kill them, so you're in good hands right now." Steve slowly rubbed your back. "Overwhelm will not be your cause of death. Actually, nothing will be. I'm trying to convince Banner to make clones of us to be kept in cryofreeze that way when we die of old age, new versions of us can just be thawed out so we can be best friends forever."
"Spoken like a true cancer" You laughed, patting his chest. "Did I uphold my end of the promise?"
"We can call it even, but I'll always be concerned"
"Even Stevens!" You sleepily enthused.
"Are you rhyming or was that a reference to something?" You could hear his amusement.
"Both, you're a little too old to understand that one."
"That's really rude" Steve faked offense.
"Thanks for coming to my rescue, Twinkles. I know you think you didn't do much, but it means a lot to me when I know I have someone on my team."
"I'll always be on your team, you've always been worth the fight." Steve reminded you.
Those words comforted you enough to ignore your very full stomach and fall into a deep sleep in the hold of your favorite soldier's big protective arms. Unfortunately the universe loved to hate you, because you only got your share of the superhero until about 4am when his phone started ringing effectively waking both of you up.
A few curse words slipped out of his mouth in complaint before he reached for his phone and answered it. You didn't pay much attention to the phone call itself, but you did find it within your lack of  consciousness to move nearly your entire body onto his in attempt to keep him forever. Snuggling into him belly to belly, his hand found the back of your head and played with your hair as you slipped in and out of sleep.
By the time the phone call ended, you had effectively caged him between the mattress and your body. Realizing what you had done, Steve's cheeks burned as he let out a sigh.
"You can't go." You sleepily mumbled.
"You and I both know I don't really have any say in that." Steve reminded you apologetically.
"Says who? We all have free will."
"Unfortunately, the president of the United States. Apparently he requested to meet me for an urgent conversation about something that's happening somewhere." Steve explained.
"Damnit." You yawned. "I think the president has me beat in importance."
"I think the two of you are pretty equal in importance." Steve pondered. "The only difference is that people might die if I don't get out of bed."
"My soul will die if you get up, but it's fine, I understand." You joked dramatically.
"You're making it very hard for me" Steve complained, wrapping his arms around your back and squeezing you gently.
"If you're hard that's all the more reason to stay in bed." You joked, knowing damn well Steve wouldn't take a naughty joke like that very well.
And you were right, because the gasp that left his mouth was immediate and visceral. You didn't need to look at his face to know his cheeks were flushed pink and red hot. Your laugh was also pretty immediate and visceral as he used his body to flip you over onto the bed and propped himself up on his arm to lean over you. Pointing a finger at you like a dog, he had one word to say. "Bad!"
You laughed even harder as he shook his head at you. "I'm going to get up and get ready to meet the president, you stay here and think about what you just said."
Laying in bed alone, Steve eventually came to say goodbye to you. It was always sad to let each other go, but also an often occurrence. But this time he was hesitant to leave, of course you both knew why. Last night wouldn't be a one time event, but he encouraged you to stay close to Bucky, Nat and Sam as often as you could, and emphasized that there would be no timeline to his departure so he didn't know when he would be back. He also made it clear that should you need to defend yourself, you should do so with no hesitation.
Luckily, all was pretty smooth for a while. Your friendship with Nat bloomed faster than you'd ever expect it would, so for the first week Steve was gone the two of you were practically attached at the hip. Nat and Bucky spent a whole day helping you move from your old apartment up into the Avengers sector. Though it felt a bit pointless moving within the same building, the team felt better about keeping a protective eye on you when you weren't floors away from them. It was a nice change of pace to have a sense of community around you again.
The second week that Steve was gone, you tried to focus on building individual friendships with the team members outside of your little social circle. Your therapist also encouraged you to try and be brave enough to walk through the compound with a confident attitude so nobody would fuck with you, so you tried a few times on your own, a few times were nothing more than anxiety inducing, and a few times got you confronted with hostility which lead to 3 more agents getting fired by Natasha.
By the third week you finally got a phone call from Steve. It was nice to hear his voice and catch up and hear about what he had been up to for all this time, and it was especially nice to hear that he was wrapping up his work and he would be home soon. That same day you got to visit Jane and Luca over lunch at one of your favorite restaurants, then they helped you pick out a few new things for your new apartment.
Most kids acted as if a home store was cruel and unusual, but Luca was very opinionated about rugs and throw pillows. He even convinced you to get a new pair of sneakers at the clothing store he wanted to go to across the street from the compound.
Lots of therapy, lots of solo workouts, lots of team building, you were starting to feel mentally and physically stronger.
Strong enough to keep walking alone, and pushing forward no matter how hard it was.
When Steve landed on the runway after 3 whole weeks and a handful of days of being gone, he was so relieved to be back home. Without even making it off the jet he was already fantasizing about shaving the beard he unintentionally grew after forgetting his razor at home, a long shower and a long nap since it was only early in the afternoon and definitely not bedtime yet.
His fantasies continued as he stepped off the jet and into the building. Now he knew he wanted to see you before he knocked out for that nap he desperately needed. There would be some snacks at some point, and definitely no pants after the got out of the shower.
The sound of his boots on the sleek floor actually brought him joy knowing each step was one closer to you.
Like most fantasies, what he hoped and dreamed of was far from reality. Especially when a loud alarm sounded in the sector of the compound he was headed towards.
Stopping in his tracks and cringing at the sound, he waited for the code and location to be called out before springing into action. It could've been as simple as a knocked over vial in the lab, or complex as an invasion of an enemy. But when the code called out for aggressive physical conflict in the gym, Steve's heart sank and he started running as fast as he could.
He didn't want to believe it was you, but he couldn't be naive either. His racing heart and even faster legs carried him there faster than anyone else could. As he entered the doorway into the compound gym, he could hear the footsteps of a few sets of feet trailing behind him, but waiting for others arrival wouldn't slow him down.
Especially not when he entered the gym and it was completely empty besides two people, his heart sank even further when he recognized it was you, and the number on the back of the uniform of the other person was 212. Harvey.
No less than a billion racing thoughts came sped through Steve's mind, and none of the billion came together to form any good ideas. He swore all he saw was a blinding white and all he heard was his own heart beat in his ears as he sprinted through the equipment to get to where the altercation was happening.
The two of you looked like a cartoon before he went into fully protective mode. As he weaved through punching bags and stair climbers, he couldn't pick out where your body started and Harvey's ended. There might as well have been a big dust cloud around you, with puffs of air pluming out.
The consequences of putting himself in the middle of a fight wasn't even a thought in Steve's mind as he jumped over a treadmill and wrapped his arms around your waist from behind and tried to pull you backwards, far away from Harvey.
Unfortunately, you were a little too preoccupied trying to save your own life to notice the alarm was sounding or that anyone was coming to save you, let alone Steve who you didn't even know was home yet. Assuming it was another attacker, one of Harvey's buddies helping him take you down, you forcefully thrashed and kicked yourself out of the Steve's grip. Adrenaline clouded your judgement, flight was nowhere to be seen as fight took over your every thought, you turned around and swung your fist right at him to earn yourself more time to knock Harvey down. You know you made pretty harsh contact considering there was a shooting pain buzzing through your knuckles, but at this point there was pain jolting through nearly every part of your body, so this wasn't going to slow you down.
Still not realizing what you had done, you watched Natasha sprint into the room and full body tackle Harvey to the ground, followed by a few other commanding officers, Sam, and Bucky. Trusting their ability to deal with Harvey and not let him touch you again, you turned back around to deal with whoever else was.
Fist balled, ready for a second swing, you looked up at the targets face, and devastation immediately took over the whole of your emotions. Steve blocked your punch and caught your wrist mid swing.
"Hey hey hey, it's me. It's just me" Steve frantically tried to get you to stop.
"Oh my god" You whispered to yourself as you realized you punched Steve right on his cheekbone, hard enough a bruise was already forming.
He watched you come to the realization of what you had done, your wrist was shaking in his hand, even more so as he loosened his grip and gently placed your arm down to your side.
You looked battered and bruised, but when he looked back at Harvey, it was clear that you had won this fight.
Looking at your wide eyes, he could tell you were in shock, and coming down from the copious amount of adrenaline coursing through your veins. He knew all too well what that felt like. Guilt, shame, the full effects of pain from the injuries sustained, the tremors and how weak your knees and thighs would get. He's been in your position far too many times before, he knew it was the worst feeling in the world.
Especially when your cheek was oozing blood, your arms were scraped up and bruised. Steve could tell the fight started with an unfair advantage.
Then, tears started pooling in your eyes as you looked at Steve's face and you opened your mouth but no words would come out.
"It's okay." Steve told you, very slowly reaching out to put his hands on your shoulders trying to snap your brain out of fight mode. "You're okay."
A tear fell down your cheek and your eyebrows furrowed before you muttered a quiet. "I'm so sorry."
"You didn't know" Steve shook his head. "You were just trying to protect yourself. You're okay, buggy."
You looked over your shoulder and saw Harvey on the ground. His face was a lot bloodier than yours. With eyes swollen shut and his nose definitely not in its usual form, you felt like a monster.
A sob escaped your throat, and your shaky hand flew up to cover your mouth before your eyes squeezed shut. "What did I do?"
"Everything is going to be fine." Steve reminded you, pulling your attention back to him.
His bruised face only made your sobs escape faster and your heart pound even faster. "I'm so sorry, Steve, I-I didn't mean to. I didn't know it was you."
"I know you didn't, you didn't even know I was home." Steve reasoned with you. "It's okay, just take some deep breaths for me."
You shook your head, still panting from the physical exertion. "I can't."
"You can't?" He questioned.
"I have to go." You took a big step backwards, Steve's arms fell back to his sides.
More concern than Steve ever thought was humanly possible took over his mind. "Where do you need to go?"
"I don't know." You sobbed. "I just need to go. I'm sorry"
Another two scared steps backwards, then you bolted out of the gym. Steve started making strides towards you, fully prepared to follow you but Sam approached him and stuck his arm out.
"You have to let her go on her own." Hand flat to Steve's chest, he stopped him. "She needs time to calm down and come to terms with what just happened. Trust that if she needs something, she will call you."
Steve's shoulders deflated. He wanted to go help, convince you to see a medic and have an emergency meeting with your therapist, but he also knew Sam was probably right.
With a big deep breath, Steve assessed the state of the gym. Realizing one of the treadmills was still on and going, he reached over the machine to stop it. Then a few commands slipped through his mouth while trying to organize his own brain.
He needed the security camera footage of the incident, he needed the alarm to stop, he needed a lab clean up crew to get rid of all the blood on the gym floor, and he needed Harvey handcuffed to the hospital bed he was bound to end up in. He was too tired to do any of that on his own, but luckily others were eager to get this taken care of too.
Just as he was no longer needed, Bucky approached and squeezed his shoulder.
"What's that thing on your face?" Bucky's nose scrunched up.
"She got me on accid-"
"I'm not talking about the bruise. I didn't even know you were capable of growing a beard" Bucky commented.
Narrowing his eyes, Steve glared at Bucky. "I forgot my razor."
"Respectfully," Bucky stated looking him up and down. "You look like shit, Pal."
"Thanks, Buck." Steve sarcastically smiled. He knew he looked disheveled and tired.
"Really, I think 66 more years of sleep would look good on you." He backhandedly tapped Steve's chest. "Go take a nap."
"I don't think I'll be able to sleep after she ran off like that." Steve sighed.
"We'll take care of her." Bucky reassured him. "We can always wake you up if need be, but her and Nat have grown really close. She has a lot of people in her court."
After about 10 more minutes of arguing with Bucky, he decided to just let him win under the conditions that he would keep him updated when he found out any new information.
Steve showered, shaved, and put on sweatpants and a shirt before getting into bed. He didn't want to wear pants, but he did it for your sake, just in case you came to find him. Realizing it had been about an hour since the incident, he tried calling you just to see if you would pick up, but he wasn't shocked when you didn't. So he sent you a text letting you know he was here for you when you were ready, then tried his hardest to get his mind to calm down enough to fall asleep.
It took an unfortunately short amount of time, as the second he laid down sleep hit him harder than your fist against his face, and he knocked out for so long that he woke up to the sound of his phone ringing, and it was now pitched black in his bedroom.
"Hello?" Steve mumbled into his phone.
"Jesus Christ, good morning sleeping beauty." Bucky said.
"Weren't you the one who told me to get some sleep?" Steve poked.
"Not important, glad you're back from the dead. I have some updates for you. Are you awake enough to process the words I'm speaking to you"
“I will be once I'm filled with rage over this situation again. What's up?"
"The security footage was recovered and I finally got to see it. It's enough evidence to land Harvey in jail for assault, so that's what Natasha is currently perusing."
Steve sat up in bed and reached for the lamp on the bedside table, blinking his eyes to adjust as it clicked on. "What happened?"
"She was alone in the gym, running on the treadmill and minding her own business. 212 saw her in there on her own, snuck in through the back door and yanked her off the treadmill. Her foot slipped off the end of the machine so he pushed her forward and scraped her face and arms against the moving belt, which is why she was bleeding. He was screaming some things at her but none of it is very clear. He tried kicking her a few times but she was able to get up and try to push him off of her, he persisted and she got fed up after he managed to get a swing at her collar bone and kicked her chin. She just... started swinging at him and didn't stop until you and Nat got them away from each other." Bucky explained.
"If this video can get him in jail, that would be great. But it can't be used if it's incriminating against her. We can't have that happen." Steve sighed.
"If anything, it's proof of self defense. You know Nat would never let anything bad happen to her. None of us would." Bucky reminded Steve. "It looked really painful on her end though. She ended up going to medical, but they released her a couple hours ago. JARVIS is telling me she's hanging out on the roof."
"Think I should go up there?" Steve asked, swinging his legs over the side of the bed, already knowing the answer.
"Well I don't necessarily think she should be alone for much longer."
"I'll talk to you later then."
The call ended and Steve stood in front of the mirror to fix his hair, while trying his hardest to ignore how tender and swollen his cheek was now. Before making it up to the private roof access, Bucky sent him the video and it took everything out of him to not kill Harvey with his own two hands. But a deep breathing exercise helped him regulate his anger again.
When he got up there and made it to the top, he saw you laying beneath the stars on a blanket with your headphones on, quietly crying to yourself and hoping that the moon understood your pain.
You noticed Steve immediately, and took your headphones off before sitting up as he quietly sat down next you. Trying your hardest to be brave, your lip wobbled trying to contain the new wave of emotion you felt. No words needed to be exchanged as you gently reached up and cupped his bruised cheek into your palm. There was a physical pain blossoming in your chest as he wrapped you up into his arms, but butterflies fluttered in his stomach as you let one of your arms keep him close, and your hand stayed over his cheek.
You cried tucked into his neck for a little while as he rubbed your back and simply let you feel your feelings. After a little while he heard your small broken voice.
"I'm so sorry." You apologized again, bravely pulling away and moving your hand to inspect the damage you did to his face. "Are you okay? Does it hurt?"
"It's okay, Bugs. I'm fine. It was a dumb move on my part to grab you like that, if I was you I would've punched me too." Steve responded sincerely, taking in the burn-like scabs on your face down near your jaw. "Are you okay?"
"Could've been a lot worse." You nodded with a sniffle, really trying to convince yourself that you were okay. "I don't remember what happened, it all happened so fast I can't even recall specifics. I got scared and didn't want to hurt anyone else so I ran. I'm still trying to come down from that."
"I saw footage from the security camera, it wasn't good, Bug." Steve broke the news to you softly. "You did what you needed to do, and it was all within reason. There mere fact that you walked away with a few scrapes and bruises is a miracle."
"Did he sneak up on me?" You asked, Steve simply nodded in return with a sympathetic look on his face. "That's what I thought must've happened, that's also probably why I punched you so hard."
"If you need to see the video to help you process, I'll show it to you. But right now, I think it's best to just try and wind down."
In agreement, you made yourself comfortable next to Steve. You sat sideways nearly on his lap, with your legs thrown over his. His arm pulled you into his torso, and you rested your head onto your shoulder. Steve noticed your tiny winces as you adjusted to the new found pain and soreness in your body, but he tried his best to avoid all the spots he knew were injured.
“You saw a doctor right? Is everything okay?" He questioned, genuinely concerned.
You nodded. "Everything is pretty surface level, but apparently being slammed onto some heady gym equipment can bruise a rib."
"Bruised ribs are so painful" Steve's face scrunched up. "You're one tough cookie."
"I'm sorry this is what you came home to after being away for so long."
Steve was looking at you, admiring the way you looked under the moonlight, yet you couldn't keep your eyes off the stars. "I wish you didn't feel the need to apologize for things that aren't your fault."
"I'm working on that, and I don't anymore for most people. But for you? A million apologies wouldn't be enough. You're too sweet for this kind of nonsense."
"You are too, but out of all people you should know that I understand." Steve stressed. "In a lot of ways, we're very similar, Bug. I know what it feels like to be in the position you're in right now. You don't need to explain anything or apologize to me. I get it."
You tried to understand his words, but you really didn't. For a moment, you almost got upset with him for implying that anyone would treat him the way you've been treated around the compound. Steve was one of the most respected people in the world, you could barely earn the respect of a new hire agent. "I don't see anyone rushing to try and physically harm you for going on a run." You wiped tears from under your eyes.
"No, maybe not here." Steve agreed with you. "But way back when I first got the serum, I struggled really hard to earn respect from anyone around me."
"I have to admit, it's hard to imagine anyone disrespecting you."
Steve grinned and carefully brushed a few stray strands of hair away from your eyes. "I went from a 90 pound asthmatic who didn't have the strength to complete one push up to a human science experiment. I proved myself the very moment after I got the serum and it still wasn't enough for a lot of people. Thats why I was paraded around on that USO tour for so long, nobody thought I could handle fighting a war."
"You looked really cute in those booty shorts" you sniffled.
Steve chuckled at your statement. "Stop making me laugh when I'm trying to teach you a valuable lesson."
"I'd rather jump off this roof than not make you laugh" you smiled despite the contradictory tears.
"The point of this conversation is actually to make sure you don't jump off the roof." Steve informed you.
Your eyes moved from the stars to his eyes, they were both as equally beautiful and bright. "Is that what you're worried about? I would never-"
"Quite honestly, yeah, I am." He cautiously continued with a slight nod. "We see a more on a daily basis than anyone should see in their whole life, that alone is grounds for struggle but when you factor in everything else, I don't think that concern is far off."
Your tears fell faster at his statement. As a sad sob slipped past your throat and your eyes found the sky once more, Steve's heart broke knowing he hit the nail on the head. He also knew you wouldn't open up if you felt defensive about it, so he needed to take the scenic route to get you there.
"What's your favorite part about the stars?" Steve asked. "You seem to love looking at the sky when you're sad."
"Looking for constellations helps me stay calm and get out of my head" You explain with a sniffle. "They're hard to see in the city but it's better here upstate."
Steve looked up. "It's amazing to me that you can find constellations. All I see is each individual star."
You pointed at the brightest light. "That's Saturn, and these stars right below it make up the Aquarius constellation."
"It's crazy that the universe is so vast."
"That's another reason why I like the stars so much. With so much happening out there, it's a good reminder that everything down here is so tiny and insignificant in the grand scheme of the universe. Sometimes that makes me feel like I can keep going strong, like one day none of this will even matter."
"You really believe in astrology? I go back and forth. The stars are so far away, I struggle to understand how they can control so much of who we are." Steve pondered.
"I do believe in it." You nodded. "The moon controls our oceans, the tide is physical proof. Our bodies are made up of 60% water, and all of the other elements we're made up of were formed in the stars over the course of billions of years. It's hard for me to believe they don't have a say in what's going on down here."
"I've never thought of it that way." Steve grinned. "It's really magical when you put it like that."
"Maybe you're made up of more stardust than the average human considering your eyes seem to twinkle like they're already up in space." You noted. "It's magical, but it's also equally devastating to feel like the bad parts of your life are written into the stars."
"We need the not so great stuff to help us understand how amazing the good stuff is. Can't see the stars if the sun is out." For some reason, his perspective brought you comfort. It felt like the hug he kept you wrapped up in. "Maybe that's always why I've thought so highly of you. Despite the darkness you've continued to show excellence, and shine brighter than the rest."
"Then maybe I'm a supernova because sometimes I really do feel like I'm going to explode." You giggled at your own realization.
"Even then you'd still shine a million times brighter than the sun!" Steve enthused, big smile on his face. "But don't explode, black holes are terrifying."
"I won't. That's why I came up here. Avengers only access, don't have to worry about anybody else or the damn sprinklers."
"When I was in the Army, drawing was my version of looking at the stars. It was the only way I could really get my mind to quiet down." Steve explained. "Back then, I was miserable. All the army men hated me, I had recently lost my mom, and I thought I killed Bucky. The war was so horrific I didn't think I'd ever be able to recover from what I had to do or what I had to see, and I felt even worse for the innocent lives taken in the whole ordeal. So, when I knew that I could end it... I did."
"You're a hero because of it." You agreed, feeling a bit confused by his words.
"No, you don't understand." Steve denied. "The plane crash that got me stuck in the ice? I could've gotten out. There was a chance for me to jump out of the plane, but I didn't. I didn't see the point."
Your heart sank at the implication of what he was confessing to you, and all it wanted to make you do is just hold him tight and weep forever. But you knew that wasn't the point, you knew you just needed to keep listening.
"I can't say that I regret it, because had that never happened I would've never gotten to enjoy living a life I never imagined, and I would've never met you, or the Avengers." He explained. "But it made my life far more complicated, and at least once a day I imagine what my life would've been like had I just gotten myself to safety, and that imagining- the 'what's ifs?' is something I'd never wish upon anyone. I do know how you feel, and much like you know the moon controls the ocean, I know things will get better. All you need to do is believe it."
Your eyes momentarily squeezed shut to rid them of the tears blurring your vision. They dripped down your cheeks as you shook your head, and his brave vulnerability made you realize that you always loved him, but in this moment you had fully and irrevocably had fallen for him. It was as if there was no more questions in your mind, you couldn't even understand anymore why you hadn't been with him way before this whole mess. It consumed every single one of your emotions, you simply couldn't ignore it anymore.
"I would never, Rogers, never." You confirmed with a cry. "I can't lie, I've been pushed to thinking about it, but it made me realize that I couldn't do that to you, my parents, Luca. Nobody. I love you so much, and I really hate to hear that, but I'm really glad you're here."
"Maybe this is what was written in the stars." Steve reached his hand up and used his thumb to gently swipe tears off your cheeks. "Maybe all of this was meant to happen so that this moment, right now could teach you that no matter what happens, you'll always have people to catch you at the bottom should you feel like you have nowhere else to go."
"Or maybe the lesson is that the idea of our existences happening at the same time is so unlikely that we have no choice but to listen to the universe." You said quietly, almost coming to that realization in real time. "Maybe you were always meant to be mine."
Steve's heart nearly pounded out of his chest as you spoke those words, then, as you looked up at him and closed the distance between your lips, he felt like a supernova too. He was burning hotter and brighter than ever before when your soft lips connected to his, his chest was mere seconds away from exploding when you pulled away to examine his shocked face.
Trying to process what had just happened, the sound of your giggles at his twinkling eyes and blushed cheeks grounded him and pulled him right back down to earth.
"Wait hold on..." Steve clutched his chest.
"Are you going to throw up?" You asked, wiping the last of your tears off your face as your smile took over.
"I think I need to sit down." He stated, finally making eye contact with you.
Your laugh boomed once again. "You're already sitting!"
"Okay, then I need to lay down." He said, readjusting to lay down on your blanket.
Your smile persisted as you laid down next to him. Shoulder to shoulder, arm to arm, your hands intertwined. "This is better than you throwing up."
"Wait..." Steve spoke, looking up at the moon.
You turned your head to look at him. "What?"
"Again" He insisted, turning his head towards you too.
It took a lot of effort to contain your smile enough to kiss him, but you did, and it felt just as right as the first time. Keeping it short and sweet, it didn't take long for Steve to point to the stars.
"I like these bitches, they're being very nice to me right now" He smiled.
Admitting to how hard you laughed at his statement would simply be too embarrassing, but it was hard enough to yell at him for further irritating your bruised rib. "Now you can't get mad at me for calling you Twinkles."
"You can call me whatever you want, Love Bug."
Butterflies in your stomach erupted in flutters at his choice of nickname. "A cancer and a Gemini, who would've thought?"
Steve shrugged. "It works."
"What now?" You asked with a sigh, you didn't know if you were asking Steve or the stars.
"You fight your ass off in a trial against Harvey, you help us out in an investigation on him and everyone that's been tormenting you, you continue doing what you're amazing at, and you keep that beautiful smile on your face because all of this is about to change." Steve explained. "This was the fuel we needed to start a fire around the compound. It's enough to light the whole place up and change the status quo. By the end of it, it's going to improve the lives of every agent in the program, that's my vow to you."
All his words sounded appealing and genuine enough to believe them.
"Pinky promise?" You raised your pinky on the hand that wasn't already holding his.
"Pinky promise" He connected his pinky with yours, then kissed the back of his hand... then your forehead... then your lips.
He knew confidently, now more than ever, that his love for you transcended time and space. The laws of life, love, nature, and even the stars never applied to the connection you two shared.
Maybe it was fate, or maybe it was coincidence that the boy born in 1918 had a chance to fall so deeply in love with a girl who didn't live in the same era as him.
Or maybe everything did happen for a reason. Maybe your life was already mapped out in the stars, and all you had to do was find the right constellations.
You would always have infinite questions about the intricacies of the universe, but out of all the answers you are confident in, you knew two things for certain.
Steve was your North Star. So long as you had him to guide you, you always knew you'd be on the correct path. You'd always get where you needed to go, and he would always be there for you regardless of what season of life you were in.
He was your star crossed lover.

12 Days of Ficmas ❅ Day 8
Tumblr media
Word Count: 4.7K Paring: Jordan Li x Fem!Reader Prompt by @12-days-of-ficmas: christmas baby is sensitive about never being celebrated on their birthday/always feels skipped over Warnings: foul language
Summary: Being a Supe comes with its challenges. But there is no challenge bigger than being the child of Supes that do not care. (Y/N) has been constantly overlooked by her parents in all aspects of her life other than her abilities. Her birthday is not the exception. But there is one person that wants to make sure she knows how special she is, regardless of her powers.
A/N: I watched Gen V last year and naturally became obsessed with Jordan, so I had to give a day to them. I love them with all my heart and I loved this story too. Mainly because I selfishly wrote this about having a Christmas birthday 🤭🤭

Studying at God U had been (Y/N)’s dream, much like many other Supes. She had been raised to idolize the lifestyle of a crime-fighting Supe and had been trained her entire life to one day become one of The Seven. That much her parents wanted for her.
Having been B-list superheroes just like Polarity, they had wanted more for their daughter. They wanted her to rise through the ranks quickly and efficiently, making sure her name was in everyone’s mouth. More than her parents, they were her managers. Appearing in her life if and when necessary to make sure her image and reputation were always pristine. No amount of money, time, or resources would ever be too much to make sure their baby girl was one of the greats. They truly provided her with everything she could ever need except the love and warmth parents should give.
(Y/N) had always been their biggest marketing ploy. The golden child of Storm Surge and Radiance –the only title her parents cared for. While they went around the world giving conferences and interviews, the girl was stuck at home, by herself, training, slowly being molded into a daughter those heroes could be proud of.
She grew up in isolation. There weren’t many people around her growing up the way she was. It wasn’t until she was touring the university that she finally found people like her –exactly like her.
The first two people she met were Luke Riordan and Andre Anderson. They were finishing their freshman year at Godolkin University and had run into (Y/N) after she had gotten separated from her tour group. The duo had taken it upon themselves to show her the real God U and promised to take her under their wing when she finally arrived that warm August.
In the coming months, the three of them engaged in nonstop communication as they helped her in her transition from intensive homeschooling and training to a more social and balanced life. They had also introduced her to Cate Dunlap and Jordan Li, the remaining members of the golden quartet of God U, as she liked to call them.
The four of them were a refreshing breath in comparison to her life of isolation. She couldn't help but grow a certain affinity for the group of Supes, desiring nothing more than to be at the university to finally experience their friendship face-to-face. Especially a certain bigender student that had caught her eye.
There was a sort of magnetism to Jordan Li that (Y/N) could not deny. She wanted nothing more than to know everything about them –their likes, their dislikes, their hopes, their dreams. She wanted to know what life by their side could be. And a small part of her hoped they wanted that as well.
But when the day finally came to move to God U, she was met with a version of Jordan she had not seen over the phone. Where Andre, Luke, and Cate had welcomed her with open arms, even going as far as to help her move into her dorm, Jordan had decided to keep their distance from her. In their male form, he would grumble under his breath as he moved boxes into her room, asking Luke how long the whole ordeal would last. When Luke answered that they would probably end up getting food and spending the night with her, he could only scoff and say he’d be going to spend the night in his room.
“Did I do something wrong?” (Y/N) questioned as she spread her duvet across her bed. “Why are they so mad?”
“They’re probably tired,” Luke shrugged. “Jordan can sometimes get into these moods when they haven’t gotten much sleep.”
“Maybe you should go check on them, then. I think I can manage by myself now.”
“Nonsense,” Andre grinned as he slid an arm across her shoulders. “We promised you some dinner, and that’s what you’re getting. Jordan’ll get over it soon enough.”
And that’s what she had hoped.
But as the days passed, the only thing that seemed to grow in Jordan was contempt. They would avoid (Y/N) as best as they could, even going out of their way not to run into her. They would barely talk to her when the group went out to a party or simply had a comfortable night in one of their dorms. It seemed like nothing the girl did was good enough for them, and she couldn’t help but wonder if her crush on them would only damage her in the long run.
Still, days turned to months, and suddenly (Y/N) was completing her first semester at Godolkin. She had become busy with her schoolwork, quickly rising through the ranks and coming very close to becoming one of the only freshmen ever to make it onto the Top 5. Christmas break had quickly approached, and the New York winter was coming in strong. Students all around were packing up to go home for the holidays, grateful for a small rest from the school. Granted, a lot of students had loving and supportive families to go home to. Even if (Y/N) didn’t, she was looking forward to sleeping in her own bed once more and having some time away from Jordan's icy treatment.
After packing what was necessary, she rolled her suitcase out of the dorm building, half expecting to find her parents waiting for her, happy to take her home. Instead, she saw other students reuniting with their families or simply groups of friends driving away to their planned vacations. Meanwhile, the fire-wielding girl stood freezing, hoping to see even a glance of her birthgivers.
Once twenty minutes had passed in the cold winter morning, (Y/N) knew deep down what had happened. But instead of jumping to conclusions, she dialed her parents’ phone. “Hey guys,” she said as their faces came up on the screen. “Where are you? You were supposed to pick me up half an hour ago.”
“Oh, honey, we forgot to tell you,” her mother answered, bringing her face forward on the screen. “We had some last-minute stops added to the book tour, and we won’t make it home for Christmas.”
“Yeah, kid, we talked to the Dean, and she said it was okay for you to stay at the dorms,” her father added. “Anything you need, just use the card.”
“Can’t I at least go home? I mean, I could still see you when you get back. Even if it’s after Christmas.”
“Honey, by the time we get back, you’ll be heading off to school again,” her mother said. “And there’s no point in you staying at home all by yourself. Might as well stay there and get ahead in some classes.”
“Are you serious, mom? What about my birth…?”
“Kid, sorry, the flight attendant is flagging us down,” her father interrupted. “We need to turn our phones off. But Nicole will come over sometime soon with your presents. And remember, any groceries or necessities, just use your card.”
“But…”
“Merry Christmas, honey,” they chorused before the screen went black.
(Y/N) shouldn’t have been surprised. It was not the first time she had spent the holiday alone, and it was definitely not the first time they had forgotten about her birthday. With it being so close to Christmas, it had somehow always slipped their mind. But something in her believed that it would have been different that time. She was out of the house and had very little communication with them; maybe they had missed her. Yet, nothing had changed. Nothing would ever change.
As she felt tears falling from her eyes, (Y/N) turned around to head back inside before anyone could see her cry. Walking with her hands on her eyes, she bumped into someone harshly but couldn’t bring herself to care who it was. All she did was mumble an apology and head back into her room to sleep that bad dream away.
By the time she had woken up from her nap, the building had emptied, and she felt, for the first time in a long time, truly alone. The halls would normally be bustling with chatter and mischief. But that winter night, the silence was the most chilling sensation of all. Her footsteps echoed as she walked to the bathroom, every step reminding her of how empty the school was and how alone she was.
For three whole days, (Y/N) had fallen into an automatic routine. She had gone for groceries the very next day, buying all the junk food her parents would have chastised her for getting. But they weren’t there. She had free reign and a credit card with a pretty high spending limit. If she wanted to drown herself in chips and ice cream, she would do so.
Her parents’ assistant Nicole went by on the second day, but she had texted her to come downstairs and handed her a bag with presents without so much as looking up from her phone. It was the only human interaction she’d had; it had felt as cold as her parents had been.
When her birthday finally arrived, three days before Christmas, (Y/N) left the school to buy herself a birthday cake. Her parents would have been furious at her for indulging in such a treat, but they couldn’t chastise her if they weren’t there. She had been dreaming of devouring an entire chocolate cake, savoring the taste of the rich flavor. Alas, all she found at the nearest grocery store was a simple vanilla cupcake without as much as a candle to light. Defeatedly, the girl walked home with her simple treat and braced herself for another birthday in solitude.
Once she was back at her dorm building, she pulled the cake out of the box and produced a flame from the tip of her finger. “Well, make a wish, (Y/N),” she whispered to herself after singing a sad rendition of Happy Birthday. “Not that they ever come true.”
She blew away the flame and, with fresh tears in her eyes, took a bite of the slightly stale cupcake. It was rather hard and bland, but it was as good as she was gonna get without making it herself. And she had no energy left to bake herself a cake.
As the doors of the elevator opened on her floor, (Y/N) was ready to cry herself to sleep watching another movie. She had not expected her entire hall to be filled with her friends and a chorused “Surprise!” to leave their throats.
The girl startled at the noise, instinctually forming a ball of fire in her hand to defend herself against the intruder, but upon seeing her friends quickly put it out. There were couches in the halls, lights and streamers on the ceiling, and balloons littered all over. Where the vending machines normally were, a table of food and drinks rested, a beautiful birthday cake set in the center.
“Holy shit,” was all she could mutter as Luke stepped forward and twirled her in a tight hug. “How did you guys know I was here?”
“A little birdy told us, and we couldn’t let you have another birthday by yourself,” he smiled as he set her down. “Figured you’d want some company, at least for tonight.”
“Yeah, and it’s also a good excuse to party at an empty school,” Andre added with a grin. “It just so happened that it was your birthday too.”
“What if it hadn’t been?”
“Then we’d be celebrating Christmas,” Cate smiled. “Either way, we were gonna come spend time with you.”
“You guys are crazy,” she chuckled before wrapping them all in a hug. “Thank you.”
(Y/N) disappeared for a second to change her clothes, and once she came back, the party went on full-steam ahead. The music was loud, the lights were flashing, there was alcohol and drugs, and everything felt perfect. She was surrounded by her friends –and some acquaintances that had only come to party– and for the first time in a long time, she felt happy and loved. And, even if it surprised her, she had been able to steal glances at her painful crush.
Jordan had kept to themselves the entire time she had been there, finding ways not to run into her or even meet her eye. She noticed how he downed cup after cup, only engaging in conversation when others talked to him. But he hadn’t even smiled or nodded at her. If he was there, it was most likely because Luke had dragged them there.
The girl wanted to enjoy her party. Bask in the love and care her friends had gifted her with, but it didn’t take long before Jordan’s obvious disdain started to damper her mood. She was dancing with a scowl, and every shot she downed was in an effort to forget the person she wanted the most.
“Okay, what’s going on?” Luke asked as he pulled her away from the loudness of the hall and into her room. “I thought you would like the party.”
“I do.”
“Then why do you look so sad, (Y/N)?” he pressed. “If it’s too much, I can get everyone out, and it’ll just be the five of us.”
“No, the party is great. It’s honestly the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me,” she sighed, her shoulders slumping as she felt embarrassment bubbling at the words she would speak. “The problem is Jordan, okay? It’s the fact that, for some fucking reason, they hate me and can’t even find a way to hide it on my birthday.”
“Wait, you think… you think Jordan hates you?” he asked with a slight chuckle. “That’s crazy, (Y/N)!”
As he continued laughing, the door opened to reveal Andre and Cate with confused expressions on their faces. “What happened?” Andre asked. “Everything good?”
“Oh, yeah,” Luke said in between laughs. “It’s just that (Y/N) thinks Jordan hates her.”
“No way,” Cate snickered. “Are you serious?”
“Are you?” (Y/N) emphasized. “How is this coming as a surprise to you?”
“Alright, then. What makes you think they hate you?”
“Well, Andre, for starters, they haven’t even said a word to me all night,” the girl started. “They avoid me in the halls and in classes. They’re always trying to intimidate me by changing into their male form when they spot me. They don’t speak to me unless they literally have no other choice. I’m pretty sure if they had been able to, they’d throw me out of God U. Not to mention all the stink eyes they’ve given me these past months. Yeah, Jordan definitely hates me.”
“Oh, this is hilarious,” Luke said, still hunched over in laughter. “You really think they hate you.”
“How is that funny?”
“They were the one who planned this whole thing,” Andre answered. “If it hadn’t been for their call, we wouldn’t have known that you were here all by yourself.”
“Believe me, (Y/N),” Cate added. “They care a lot more than you know.”
“You’re kidding, right?” (Y/N) chuckled dryly. “There’s no way Jordan Li cares enough to do something like this.”
“You’re never gonna believe us, are you?” She answered Luke with a shake of her head. “Alright, then. All we have to do is get you two together so you can talk.”
“Good luck with that,” she scoffed. “The last time they were forced to talk to me, they did it all over text. And not a single emoji.”
“You leave that up to us,” Luke grinned. “We’ll get you two alone.”
(Y/N) didn’t understand what he meant until an hour after that conversation. The second they had left the room, they had gone back to partying. They danced and sang and drank, and she did everything possible to put Jordan in the back of her mind. But it was difficult as she saw them change from their male form to their female, taking a glass of champagne and downing it before going to talk to a girl. It irked her to no avail and only made her drink more and more.
She wanted to numb all feelings. She wanted to forget about her parents, forget about her lonely Christmas, and forget about her fruitless crush on the one person who would never like her back.
As she served herself her third whisky sour in that hour, Luke got onto a table and called for everyone’s attention. “Alright, everyone, are you having fun?” Everyone around him cheered, and a shit-eating grin spread onto his face. “That’s what I like to hear. But I think it’s time to kick it old school at this party and play a little rambunctious game. Something you might call seven minutes in heaven.”
His eyes fell onto (Y/N)’s as his grin grew, accepting a glass bowl from Cate as he continued. “I have here all of our names here, thanks to my beautiful girlfriend, Cate,” he said. “I’m sure you all know the rules of the game. But for the person who just came out of a decade-long coma, I will pull two names from this bowl, and those two people will be stuck in (Y/N)’s room for seven minutes. Normally, you’d make out or something similar, but you can’t force anyone to do that. So, whatever happens in that room is up to you.”
“Just do it on Marnie’s bed,” Cate interjected. “Not (Y/N)’s.”
“Hey!” Marnie, (Y/N)’s roommate, exclaimed before shrugging. “Eh, knock yourselves out.”
“Thank you, Marnie. I’ll make sure people thank you for your service,” Luke chuckled. “Well then, let’s see who our first person is. Andre, will you do the honors?”
The boy stepped beside his friend and stuck his hand into the bowl, making a whole scene out of mixing up the papers. But (Y/N) knew. “Jordan Li,” Andre announced. “Get over here!”
Jordan walked to the front of the crowd with a chuckle, her skin turning a soft shade of red. Luke got down from the table and draped an arm across her shoulders in a side hug, then landed his eyes back on (Y/N) before saying, “And who will be the lucky person to join our friend here, Andre?”
With another pretend mixing of the names, Andre pulled out a paper with a smile that spread from ear to ear. “Well, if it isn’t the birthday girl herself,” he exclaimed. “(Y/N), get your ass over here.”
At the mention of her name, Jordan’s smile dropped and quickly changed into his name form, making (Y/N) roll her eyes. The alcohol was taking effect in her system and was making confidence surge from deep inside. Unfortunately, it was walking hand in hand with anger, and she was ready to give them a piece of her mind.
She walked to the front of the hallway as everyone cheered and followed Luke to her room. Jordan walked in first, with her following close behind as their friend stopped at the door. “Have fun, you guys,” he smiled. “Your time starts now.”
As soon as Luke closed the door, Jordan sat on Marnie’s bed, looking everywhere but at her. He remained quiet and uninterested, making ire burn deep inside her. He played with his chain and kicked his feet forward, letting time pass by and anger build.
“What the fuck is your problem with me?!”
Jordan jumped at the sudden explosions, his eyes finally snapping toward her. He was sure steam was coming out of her ears, her face red with anger. “What do you mean?” he questioned. “I don’t have a problem with you.”
“You’re fucking kidding, right?” she spat. “You’ve been avoiding me this entire semester. I don’t know what I did from the first time we talked to the first day of school, but you’ve done everything in your power to stay away from me. So, either I did something, or you just don’t like me.”
“You didn’t do anything,” they answered sheepishly. “It’s… it’s complicated.”
“C… complicated?” (Y/N) stressed. “Complicated is the fact that something seemed to change before the first day of school. And it was big enough that it made you change your impression of me. Unless you were pretending the entire summer and it got harder to do once we were in the same place.”
“That’s not what happened. I wasn’t pretending.”
“Then what is it, Jordan?” she exclaimed, biting back the tears that threatened to spill in her intoxicated state. “Because this whole intimidation and avoidance thing is getting quite old.”
“Intimidation?” he questioned. “What are you talking about?”
“Come on, Jordan! Do you really think I’m that stupid?” (Y/N) questioned rhetorically. “Every single time you know I am near, you change into your male form. Whenever I try to talk to you, you walk away or answer in the shortest way possible. Hell, even when we all go out as a group, you keep as far away from me as possible. You’ve pushed me away all these months, and I think I deserve a reason why!”
He startled at the raise of her voice. Her anger slapped him across the face, stinging as though she had actually hit him. They had been avoiding her, but she was nowhere close to the reason why. “I don’t hate you, (Y/N),” he said quietly. “I could never hate you.”
“Then, please, help me understand why you’ve been acting this way,” she pleaded. Her expression had softened, and Jordan could see the pain behind her teary eyes. “I just want the friendship we had in summer back. I mean, for almost three months straight, we talked nonstop, and suddenly, it was radio silence from you. What did I do for things to change so drastically?”
“God, you didn’t do anything, (Y/N). It’s me that’s the problem!” Jordan exploded as he stood from the bed. He felt angsty, pacing back and forth as he prepared himself for the inevitable rejection. “I know we built a good relationship over the summer, and it was so good. But that’s the problem. I don’t want to be your friend.”
“Oh,” (Y/N) answered defeatedly. “Sorry. I thought…”
“No! This is coming out all wrong,” he said as he ran his hands across his face in frustration. “I don’t want to be your friend because I want to be more than that. (Y/N), I’ve liked you from the moment we met. Through the phone, it was easy for me to keep my feelings in control. But here, seeing you around 24/7, it’s been hard to keep it all in control.”
“Wait, you like me?” she questioned, her heart fluttering fast against her chest. “Like, like me, like me?”
“Of course I do!” he yelled as frustration got the best of him. “You’re this amazing, talented, unbelievably bright girl. How could I not? But I thought pushing you away would be the easiest way to get over you.”
“But I don’t get it, Jordan. Why not tell me? Or, hell, even ask how I felt?”
“Because you’re you, and I’m me! You deserve to be with someone easier, someone that’s in your league,” Jordan confessed. “I come with very heavy baggage, and you don’t deserve to have to carry it. You should be with someone who knows who they are and knows what they want. Definitely not someone who needs constant validation to feel good enough. Even so, at the end of the day, I know you don’t even like me. I mean, you’ve only ever had boyfriends, and that’s an easier thing to explain to parents about and…”
(Y/N) couldn’t take it anymore. She grabbed Jordan’s face and crashed her lips onto theirs. They tasted of champagne and chocolate, a mix as soft and divine as their mouth felt. It took everything in her not to melt at the touch. And suddenly, the face they had been holding had grown smaller. As her eyes fluttered open, she saw Jordan’s female form in front of her.
“Oh, hi.”
“See? This is not what you want,” she sighed. “I’m not…”
Once more, (Y/N) interrupted them with a kiss. “I don’t care what gender you are, Jordan,” she smiled, running her thumb across her cheeks. “I like you for who you are. The entire time you’ve been trying to forget about me, I’ve been trying to get close to you because I like you, you idiot.”
“You’re just saying that.”
“Why would I lie about this, Jordan? Hell, you can ask Luke about it if you don’t believe me.”
“Luke?” she chuckled. “You’ve told Luke about this?”
“There have been a couple of drunkenly sad confessions over the past few months about it,” (Y/N) sighed, hiding her face in embarrassment. “Andre caught some of them as well. But yeah, they know. They’re actually the ones who orchestrated this whole thing.”
“Sort of gathered that seven minutes in heaven was a ruse,” Jordan smiled. “Especially since we’ve gone past seven, and no one has come to knock on the door.”
“Yeah,” she chuckled softly. “They also told me you were the one who planned this whole thing.”
“I was,” she answered meekly. “I overheard you talking to your parents on the last day of school. You actually bumped into me, and it broke my heart to see you crying like you were. I couldn’t bear knowing that you’d spend another birthday by yourself, so I made quick arrangements to get everyone back today.”
“So, you did the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me, and you still avoided me all night?”
“I’m a bit of a coward, (Y/N),” she laughed. “And, well, up until a minute ago, I thought there was no way you could actually like me. Not this version of me, at least.”
“Mm, that explains the continuous shifting into your male form when I’m near,” (Y/N) grinned. “But, regardless of everything that’s gone down these past few months, thank you, Jordan. You have no idea what this all means to me.”
“I thought it was about time you knew how loved and appreciated you are,” Jordan smiled, wrapping her arms around (Y/N)’s waist and pressing her close to her body. “Sorry that it took so long for me to tell you the truth. And I’m sorry your parents are assholes that don’t know how fucking special you are.”
“Thank you, J,” she said as a tear rolled down her eye. “I don’t care how long it took. I’m just happy it finally happened, and now you don’t have to pretend to hate me.”
“God, I’m sorry. I can’t imagine how horrible it must have felt to think that.”
“Well, now you have a lot to make up for,” she grinned, crossing her arms around Jordan’s neck. “Starting by wishing me a happy birthday.”
“Happy birthday,” Jordan said before kissing her lips and accentuating every word with a peck. “Happy. Fucking. Birthday. And. Merry. Fucking. Christmas.”
Their soft kisses rapidly turned heated. Hands exploring bodies, touching and searching. They twisted and turned until Jordan crashed (Y/N) onto the wall, kissing from her lips down to her neck, finding that one spot that made her moan. (Y/N)’s hands snaked into Jordan’s hair, gripping tightly at the base. It was passionate and feverish, and it was taking everything in them not to rip each other’s clothes off.
And it was also rudely interrupted.
“Hey, we’re gonna sing…” Luke said as he opened the door. “Woah. Didn’t think seven minutes in heaven worked this well.”
“Luke!” Jordan yelled. “What the hell?!”
“Sorry,” he snickered. “I thought you guys were only going to talk.”
“We… we did,” (Y/N) said. “We just moved on from that.”
“I’m glad,” he grinned. “But people want cake, and I’m not letting anyone get a piece until we’ve sung you happy birthday. So, get out here now. You guys can keep making out later.”
As he exited, both of them broke out into laughter as they wrapped their arms around each other. They smoothed down their clothes and their hair before walking toward the door, an aura of giddiness surrounding them.
“Will you stay after the party?” (Y/N) asked, pulling Jordan by their forearm. “After everyone’s gone back home, will you stay with me a little longer?”
“I’ll stay the rest of Christmas break if that’s what you want,” she smiled, threading her fingers through hers. “We really do have a lot to catch up on.”

Most people know you as Hebe, the Goddess of youth but you like to be called Y/N. You have never left Olympus to explore other worlds and bestow your gift upon others. People come to you from all over for you to give them their youth back, but you can do so much more than that. You can restore youth for any living thing, which is why you’re in charge of restoring nature back to its glory days.
There are plentiful goddesses that deal with nature who can do a much better job than you, but you were tasked by your father, Zeus, to do this. No one disobeys him or questions him, so you have to do this. Not that you mind much since you love being out in nature and taking care of it.
You walk past some bushes that are wiltering a bit so you run your fingers over it to give them their life back. They bloom back to life as if they were years younger. The flowers on the bushes bloom with bright colors as they are restored to their youth. You do this to the trees in the area and watch as the leaves go from a sickly brown color to bright green.
There are thousands of other planets that can benefit from your powers but Zeus won’t let you leave. Your mother, Hera, has tried hundreds of times to get all of her children to leave but he won’t listen to her. So, instead of doing something meaningful with your life, you’re stuck on Olympus doing the same thing every single day. This place is filled with gods and goddesses that come and go while you’re stuck wishing for something more to happen.
You’ve just finished restoring life to a tree when something glints off the sunlight in the sky. You cover your eyes so you can see what’s going on when a large ship comes crashing to the surface of Olympus. You jump out of the way just as it crashes down on all the nature you’ve worked hard to restore. Two goats are on the outside of the bow. A rainbow bridge follows in their footsteps and disappears once they’ve landed.
Four people get out of the ship without a car that they’ve destroyed something as delicate as nature. They walk right past you despite the shocked look you’re giving them. No one else seems to care about the falling ship except for you.
“What the hell is your problem?” you ask and jog to catch up with them. “You ruined my garden.”
The second biggest of all of them turns around to tell you off but stops. He used to think Jane was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen but that all changes when he locks eyes on you. This is Olympus full of beautiful goddesses but you’re nothing like what he’d expected. He has a time-sensitive mission but he can put it on hold for five minutes just to talk to you.
“I’m sorry,” Thor stutters.
You have to admit, he is quite attractive but that doesn't mean he should get away with what he’s done.
“Who are you four?”
“My name is Thor, and this is Jane who is also a Thor but not the true Thor like I am. She used to be human, which she still is, but she is able to pick up Mjolnir which is why she can be a Thor,” Thor stutters.
“What he’s trying to say is that he’s Thor, she’s Jane, this is Korg and I’m a Valkyrie.”
“Ah, I’ve heard about you,” you say to Thor. “I heard you released Sutur to destroy your home. You aided in the fight against Thanos.”
“Yes, that was me,” Thor blushes.
“I’m going to scout this place out,” Jane says and takes off flying with Mjolnir.
Valkyrie and Korg leave Thor alone with you to scout on foot.
“Who are you?”
“People know me as Hebe but I like to go by Y/N. I’m the Goddess of youth. I was just restoring youth to that garden you so rudely smashed into.”
“Sorry about that,” he chuckles nervously. Something clicks in his head and it shows in the way his eyes light up. “Your father is Zeus.”
“That bastard,” you roll your eyes. “He’s practically everyone’s father around here but yes, he’s my biological father. I hate his guts.”
“Maybe you can help me then.”
“What are you guys doing here? It’s not every day that someone comes crashing out of the sky. Or did you just want to ruin my garden for nothing?”
“No,” he chuckles. “I need to talk to Zeus. Is there any way my friends and I can do that?”
“I’m sure there is but you can’t do it privately. He likes to host meetings with all the gods and goddesses as a sort of touch base. One is happening very shortly.”
“Great, let’s go,” Thor says and walks past you.
“Hold on hot shot,” you say and turn to face him. “It’s an invite-only.”
“Are you invited?”
“All the children of Zeus must attend so yes, I am.”
“Great! You can get us in.”
You walk toward Thor and put a hand on his very muscular chest.
“Why would I reward you for ruining my garden?”
“I’m sorry?”
“No, I don’t want your apology.”
“What do you want?”
“I want a kiss. Right here,” you point to your cheek.
“Really? Okay,” Thor shrugs.
Thor leans down to press a kiss to your cheek but you move your face at the last second so that your own lips capture his. He’s shocked but doesn’t pull away from you. He thought you were beautiful the second he laid eyes on you, so kissing you is a plus. Your mother is the Goddess of Marriage and Childbirth so naturally, flirting and romance come easily to you. You pull away from him after a couple of minutes and produce a ticket for him.
“Wait, I have three friends with me.”
“No, only you,” you smirk and walk away from him.
You should have known he was going to find some way to get his friends into the meeting. You’re sitting next to your siblings and mother but notice four people walk in wearing disguises. You can see past Thor’s disguise and can only assume his three friends are the other ones in disguise. Thor scans the area until his eyes land on yours. You smile and shake your head to which he shyly shrugs.
“Zeus! Zeus! Zeus!” everyone chants to welcome the most powerful God.
A thundercloud appears high in the room as he creates a platform for himself and his entourage. Everyone cheers when he makes an appearance but you roll your eyes in boredom. He conjures his special thunderbolt and throws it into the air. It splits into several smaller bolts and flies into the air all around the room.
As soon as the introduction is over, everyone falls silent so that they can hear what Zeus has to say.
“First order of business is where we should hold the orgy!” Disgust fills your face at the thought of participating. “The second order of business is to discuss the winners for the most human souls sacrificed in the name of a God.”
You groan and face plant into the palm of your hand wishing you could be anywhere but here. Thor’s whispers to his friends can be heard even from where you’re sitting, and that doesn’t go unnoticed by Zeus.
“Excuse me, who is talking?” Zeus asks and everyone looks at Thor. “You there! Why are you interrupting me?” Thor stands up to talk but is a bit quiet due to being put on the spot. “No, I can’t hear you. Please come up to the stage.”
Thor hates being put on the spot like that but knows this has to happen. He makes his way to the stage in front of everyone nervously. Now that he has everyone’s attention, he begins talking about the real reason why he’s here.
“Gods of the universe, I come here to ask for your help, to raise an army. Gorr, the God Butcher has made himself known and is slaughtering Gods in his path. He’s left nothing but chaos in his wake. With your help, we can crush him before he kills anyone else.”
As pressing as this issue is, Zeus isn’t interested in hearing about it.
“That guy killed a couple of low-level Gods. Boo-hoo. If that’s all, go back to your seat and be quiet.”
“Did you not hear what I just said? He’s murdering en masse.”
“I’ll tell you this one time. Sit down and be quiet or else you won’t get invited to the orgy.”
Of course, your dad will pass this off as nothing.
“Zeus, we must do something! You have to listen to us!”
Zeus gets impatient and sends bolts of lightning to Thor’s wrists which he shackles to the ground so he can’t go anywhere. Zeus’ platform lowers to the stage so he can be closer to him.
“I’m going to take off your disguise so I can see you for who you really are.” Zeus flicks the clothes off Thor but flicks too hard and ends up stripping him naked. Your mouth drops open at the sight of his cock. He’s really big for a God. It’s not surprising given his nature, and he’s not even hard. He looks over at you and you close your mouth to give him a smile and a thumbs up. “What about the others? Should I flick them too?”
“Nope! Disguise gone!”
All three of his friends stand and take off their disguises so the same thing won’t happen to them.
“Ah, Asgardians. I thought we’d seen the last of you when Odin died. You are Thor, the God of Thunder.”
“Zeus, this is bigger than us. He’s taken Asgardian children!”
“Who do you think we are? The God police? Every God watches over their own people so Asgardian problems are Asgardian problems.”
“Why won’t you listen to what he has to say?” you ask loudly and stand up. “People are dying and you don’t even care?”
“Sit down young lady,” your father points to you.
“Y/N, sit,” your mother says and yanks you back down to your seat.
“How the mighty have fallen. My hero, Zeus, afraid,” Thor glares.
Everyone gasps at the insult which Zeus doesn’t take lightly. He leaves his platform and steps onto the stage. He walks over to Thor to speak to him privately even though there are hundreds of eyes on them.
“A couple of things,” Zeus says quietly to Thor and gets really close to him. “Yes, I am scared. Gorr has the Necrosword which means he can kill us. Not good. Two, I know you’re trying to do the right thing. I understand and admire that about you, but all you’re going to do is cause panic and that’s not good. We are safe here. You, my friend, are safe here. Three, don’t talk back to me. I flicked too hard. I’ll put your clothes back on.”
Zeus steps back and uses his power to put clothes back on Thor, and you find yourself wishing he kept them off.
“If you’re not going to help us, then let us use your weapon,” Thor suggests. “We need your lightning bolt.”
“My lightning bolt is called Thunderbolt. If you’re going to use someone’s secret weapon then you should at least get the name right when you ask.”
“Fine, can I borrow Thunderbolt?”
Thunderbolt!” Zeus yells and summons his weapon. He begins showing off the thunderbolt by throwing it in the air, spinning it on his finger like a basketball, and snapping it in half only to slam it together. He turns and throws Thunderbolt into the backdrop where his throne sits. You roll your eyes at the way he’s behaving.
“No!” Zeus smirks. “Don’t worry, the God Butcher won’t reach Eternity!”
The smile is lost from your face at the mention of Eternity. Every universe in the multiverse compiles into one being called Eternity. Whoever reaches it first will be granted their desires. What might happen if the God Butcher reaches it first? What might be his desire?
“If he seeks the Eternity altar, that means he could wipe us out at once,” Thor says. “Zeus, we must act now.”
“He won’t reach it. He doesn't have the key.”
“Fine, then we’ll just have to go at this alone.”
“I don’t think so,” Zeus smirks. “This place is known only to Gods and if you leave, the God Butcher could use you to gain our location. This isn’t good. Now you must stay. Guards!”
Four guards walk onto the stage to take Thor prisoner and he looks over at his friends.
“Hey, can we go with my plan now?” Valkyrie asks.
“Yes.”
“Hell yeah!” Jane shouts and throws her hammer at a guard, killing him.
All three of his friends and Thor attack the guards that come onto the stage, and you watch with shock at the fight. Thor and his friends seem to be doing okay at killing every guard that comes onto the stage, and Zeus takes this as a sign to step in. He grabs Thunderbolt and throws it at one of Thor’s friends, Korg. Thunderbolt penetrates his chest and is summoned back to Zeus.
“Korg!” Thor yells.
“Thor, I’m perishing!”
Korg crumbles to rocks and Thor turns to Zeus with anger in his eyes.
“You’re next Odinson!”
Zeus throws Thunderbolt at Thor but the God catches it in his hand. His eyes shine bright blue with electricity and turn Thunderbolt into a blue one. He throws it back at Zeus which goes straight through his heart. You gasp and stand up as you witness your father fall to the ground dead.
More guards come rushing in to avenge Zeus’ death as Thor goes to his rock friend. He’s not dead but he doesn’t have a body. He’s only a face that they can use. Valkyrie ties him to her back as she fights, and he sounds the mystical whistle to call for the goats. Seconds later the same boat that crashed into your garden comes crashing through the glass skylight. The goats fly around everywhere without a place to land.
This is it. This is your opportunity to get the hell out of Olympus. You use all your strength to jump onto the platform high in the sky and grab Thunderbolt. Thor jumps onto the platform to see you with the weapon he needs in your hand. Everyone else is already on the ship so it’s now or never.
You can either go with them or hand over the weapon.
“Well, what is it going to be?”
You look at your mother who gives you a thumbs up. That’s all you need to make a decision.
“I’m coming with you.”
“Let’s go,” he chuckles.
You two jump onto the boat just as Thor uses Stormbreaker to put his war clothes back on. This is it. This is the adventure you’ve been wishing for.

Avengers Guys Taking Care of You When You're Sick Imagines
Hello! I caught some sort of very fun disease doing work-related things last weekend, so I came up with these imagines! I thought I'd post them for funises and because making you think of the dialogue yourself is way easier when there's very little oxygen entering my brain.
Disclaimer: I don't really do imagines, so I'm not even 100% sure that's what these are. They might just be headcanons? Listen, man, I'm an old person on the Internet. I don't know what I'm doing.
Also, I wrote these starting in the middle of the night after having only eaten marginally for three straight days and sleeping about a total of two hours over the course of 48 hours. Also, I didn't proofread them on account of the cinderblock shoved up my nose being very distracting. (But if there's something wrong, do feel free to bring it to my attention, and I will change it.)
Pretend these are in a world where COVID isn't a concern. I didn't feel like dealing with masking and isolation.
Let me know if you'd like to see later phases or groups!
EDIT: I forgot Clint. I blame the cinderblock. He's been added.
Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Tony Stark
Let's face it. This guy is not in any position to play nurse. He hardly knows how to take care of himself; you're a different person entirely! Plus, he's not exactly into the idea of catching your cooties. Once you've got the ick, he is out of the bedroom and camping in his lab until you're no longer showing symptoms.
But that doesn't mean you're facing this alone. If this is before Pepper takes over Stark Industries as CEO, Tony's got her and Happy running around making sure you have anything you want--anything. More cold medicine? Done. A house call from your doctor? Called them 20 minutes ago; they're on their way. An authentic pizza directly from Italy? It's yours. If it's after, he will go get everything for you himself; it's just going to take a lot longer, and it'll probably take him five trips to actually get the right thing.
He won't leave you completely alone either. He'll call you up on one of the tablet phones and talk to (or at) you for hours. Heck, if you're bored, he might even set it up so you can watch him tinker on the suits from bed.
Tumblr media
James Rhodes
You don't want Rhodey to find out you're sick. He's a busy guy, whether he's working with the Air Force or the Avengers. But he's gonna find out. Maybe he isn't able to call you as often as he'd like, but as soon as he makes contact, he's going to know you're sick from the word "hello."
He hates that you're often sick when he's quite literally half a world away. He doesn't want you to deal with your illness alone--and you won't. If he's still working primarily at the Air Force, you're on base with loads of fellow military officers and their spouses, and soon you've got more casseroles than you know what to do with. If he's with the Avengers, things are a little trickier. He can't ask Dr. Cho to fly in from Korea for a cough, and it's not like FRIDAY can answer the door for Uber Eats. Pepper and Tony aren't going to let one of their best friend's SO suffer, though! They love you, too. One or both of them is going to make sure you've got a house call from a doctor very soon.
As soon as Rhodey is off work, he's back with you. He'll cook dinner--something healthy that he knows you like. Then you'll both head to the couch or bed, snuggle up under a big blanket, and watch old movies until you fall asleep beside him.
Tumblr media
Thor Odinson
Asgardians don't get run-of-the-mill illnesses, and any illness they do get is way more spectacular than what Midgardians deal with. Because of this, Thor finds your run-of-the-mill illness fascinating. Like, almost annoyingly so. Although he's fine to leave you to go on missions or the like, he is otherwise right there with you, delighting in every cough, sniffle and sneeze. If anyone on the team points out that you're, you know, sick, Thor is quick to remind them how incredibly tough his SO is. He knows you'll pull through!
Still, he doesn't want you to feel awful, so he's going to seek out advice on what he can do to help you. The results that come from this depend on who Thor decided to ask. Dr. Strange? Probably earn you some decent medications and/or treatments, even if Thor isn't 100% sure exactly how to use them. Loki? Then you're probably going to end up with Thor trying a dozen different things that don't make you feel worse but definitely don't make you feel better either. Hey, Loki's got no vested interest in helping out his brother's SO.
At the end of the day, at least you won't be left alone very often, and there is something endearing about a guy who thinks it's cute when you're so full of snot you can't think.
Tumblr media
Loki Laufeyson
Loki is a much less...obtrusive companion than his brother is. Sick Midgardians are boring. They just lay around all day, producing the most horrible liquids from every part of them. He's got better things to do than sit around all day watching that...
...is what he wants everyone to think. He knows you don't like be smothered either. So Loki does go about his day as usual for the most part, but that doesn't mean he isn't checking in quite regularly. He'll slip into your room every few hours or so just to make sure you're resting. He won't wake you if you are. And the things you need have a funny way of appearing on your bedside table whenever you wake up: the remote control, a container of hot tea, even clean pajamas if you aren't feeling capable of walking to the bathroom for a shower.
But just because you don't like being smothered doesn't mean you want to be alone the entire time. Loki knows that. He's probably not going to crawl into bed next to someone who is coughing and sneezing and already warmer than they want to be, but he's perfectly content to pull a comfortable chair over to your bedside and sleep there. And when you get bored of watching TV or just need something quiet to fall asleep to, he's always happy to read aloud to you from whatever book he's reading.
Tumblr media
Steve Rogers
Steve may no longer have the ability to get sick, but he remembers being sick when he was skinny, and he knows it's no fun. He also remembers the things that Bucky did for him that helped, and he'll try all of that on you. This leads to a bit of quarreling when Tony reminds him that they live in the 21st Century and have better ways of helping people with sore throats and coughing. But Steve eventually relents, and you get a good combination of things that make you feel better.
He's good at compartmentalizing, so he can put worrying about you aside when he needs to lead the team. The second they don't need him anymore, you're back at the forefront of his mind, and he's headed right to wherever you are. Even if you don't need anything he can provide you, he wants to make sure you're okay.
Since Steve doesn't get sick, he's 100% ready to cuddle. This is great when you have chills, and not so great when you're having hot flashes. He respects you if you ask him to please get the hell out of the bed. He lets you rest when you need rest, and is perfectly happy to just hang out in the room with you, quietly drawing in his notebook so he's there if you do need him.
Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes
If Steve remembers getting sick, Bucky remembers being the one to take care of Steve when he was sick (after Steve's mom died). He does not handle seeing you sick well. At all. He cannot stop worrying about you at all. Never mind that all you've got is a stuffy nose and a cough, he's pretty much convinced that you are going to die on him any minute.
He's very reluctant to leave your side when you're sick. Even if there's some world ending-crisis that the team needs him for, he'd rather stay with you. Oh, he'll go to help with the world-ending crisis, but he's going to be thinking about you the entire time. Everybody on comms is going to get real tired of him using any downtime to wonder aloud if this will make [Name] feel better.
If you're lucky, Natasha or Sam or Steve might take pity on you and insist that Bucky take some time away and quit worrying so much. But unless they take him on outing to get you something (food, flowers, medicine, etc.), he's not going to want to go. Unless he's directly looking at you and confirming that you're okay himself, he's just not going to be able to settle. Until your fever breaks, don't expect Bucky to leave your side for very long, if at all.
Tumblr media
Clint is a very normal guy wen it comes to his SO being sick. He's not too pushy or too distant. When you wake up with a sore throat, he makes you a cup of hot water with lemon juice in it, brings you a small breakfast in bed, and checks the medicine cabinet before he leaves for work. If there's anything you're low on, he'll make sure to pick it up on the way home. He'll call you at lunchtime to check on you, and if you say you need anything then, he'll pick that up on the way home, too.
If he has to go far away for work, of course Natasha is there to run errands and check on you. And if they're working together far away, you might get a very rare, very strange visit from Director Fury delivering cough syrup. Coulson pops by, too. Clint's got a pretty big support network willing to fill in any gaps he can't when he's working.
When he's at home, Clint mostly leaves you alone. He knows you need rest. There's plenty of work for him to do around the place anyway. But whenever he takes a break, he'll pop into the bedroom and ask you if you need anything if you're awake. He's always quick to tell the streaming service you're still watching, too, just so it's still going when you wake up. And he buys loads of your favorite takeout to tempt you to eat.

I can sense my The Boys autism starting up again when Gen V starts this month but every time I sense it starting up I remember I’m gonna have to enjoy this alongside the most media illiterate critically non thinking ironic sigma male audience of all time and i slowly begin to crumble. Anyways here’s this thing to make them start foaming at the mouth:

Top 100 ao3 stats for the MCU
TOP 100 AO3 SHIPS THIS YEAR
Actually kinda sad that zero marvel ships are in the top 100 ao3 ships this year. NOT EVEN STUCKY WHICH IS THE TOP MCU SHIP.
TOP 100 AO3 SHIPS OF ALL TIME
1st: Stucky dropped by one rank from 4th to 5th. But still in the top 5!!
2nd: Stony dropped by one rank as well. From 6th to 7th. BUT TOP 10 ANYWAY SO YAY.
3rd: Irondad and Spiderson rose up by ONE RANK!!! From 20th to 19th!!! WE MADE IT TO TOP 20!!
4th: Pepperoni dropped FIVE ranks. Still I'm so happy we made it to like the top 35 ships!!
5th: Bucky/Reader. I'm not really into this but biases aside, this ship stayed in its spot! Congrats!
6th: Thor/Loki. THIS DROPPED NINE RANKS. Y'all still made it to top 70 which is a-okay! Congratulations! 👏👏
7th: Ironfrost. (I think that's the ship name??) Something I don't really ship but again biases aside, dropped 4 ranks but made it to the Top 80!
8th: Platonic Stucky. STUCKY IS ON HERE TWICE but in two different contexts. Dropped EIGHT RANKS, but still in the top 90!! 👏
9th: Clintasha. okay this came in 87 AND DROPPED NINETEEN RANKS by far the most a marvel ship has dropped overall this year. At least, on the bright side, it made it to the Top 90. 👏👏
10th: Clint/Agent Coulson. This, was unexpected. Like REALLY unexpected, I didn't even know this ship is that popular. BUT IT MADE IT AND I'M HAPPY FOR THE SHIPPERS. 👏👏👏
Congratulations to all the ships in the Top 100 Overall this year!
