#but yeah i think one of the reasons Bruce did agree to retire

You're giving the whole batfamily the Batman Beyond experience. Was Jason that important or do these people just suck at relationships and normal lives?
First of all it's the bats so yeah obviously they just suck at healthy relationships and secondly I did want to originally call this my beyond au that being said I do think both Bruce and gotham are actually doing fairly okay in this au especially gotham as I'm an optimistic that believes that Bruces hard work would pay off in the end - also while half of Bruce's kids may be on bad terms with him he's still got cass steph duke and damian* on good terms with him which is marginally better then Bruce in batman beyond who started the series with just ace

Okay then
My first edition of Flash thoughts. Here we go.
Extremely strong premiere I thought. Took us back to basics a bit while setting up the threads to come in the season.
First of all, really well balanced! None of the characters felt like they got the short end of the stick, which has definitely been an issue at times in recent seasons (I don’t agree with the THE FLASH ISN’T EVEN ABOUT THE FLASH ANYMORE whiners though. Maybe I’ll give my thoughts about that in the future.)
Last season finally really got me on board with Barry and Iris quite frankly no other season of the flash did (I was a Snowbarry shipper basically until last season, but I also knew that wasn’t going to happen and made my peace with that.) Great to see that’s still going strong, I’m really happy about the fact that I feel like they aren’t together just because the comics say they are together and because everyone says they have feelings for each other and are perfect together—which is how I often felt in the past. Really nice to be able to just…enjoy these two together. I’m genuinely happy about it.
On that front, I think the time loop concept—as somewhat tired as it is—was used very well to help us settle into what’s going on with all our characters right now. (Well, almost all of them—we’ll get to one unique character in this regard later)
Barry’s core fatal flaws have always been his impulsiveness and his obsessiveness. While his compassion and heart are strengths, coupled with those flaws they can take him in very negative directions—as we saw with the mapbook. Honestly? Really interesting idea. I totally buy that after everything Barry’s been through in the last nine years, he just wants a happily ever after—even if it’s stagnant, even if it’s predetermined. But Iris, Joe and Cecile were right.
That said, you can see how running from crisis to crisis for 9 years has affected several of our main characters, not just Barry—specifically, Joe is exhausted, and looks like he might be looking to retire. He’s clearly concerned about Cecile getting into the thick of it, and from what he said it also looks like maybe he wants everyone else to retire with him? We’ll see.
Barry’s experience as the flash shines through in a big way in this episode, and it’s great to see. He really knows what he’s doing now. I mean, phasing a nuclear explosion through the entirety of central city and its population?!? Hell yeah. That’s such a cool use of his powers.
On the villain front, we didn’t get much time with this new Captain Boomerang, but I liked what we got. I like the performance, and I like the insecurity at his core. We know the Rogues are gonna play a big role this season, so we’re starting strong there.
I’m kinda over the vibrating speedster voice deepening thing tbh, so I’m looking forward to when Red Death is just being performed by Javicia Leslie as that is what will make Red Death great. Really looking forward to seeing her in the Arrowverse one last time (😭). Anyways I’ll make my judgment then. (And no, I don’t think Oliver would have been a “better pick” for Red Death because A. he was never just a bargain bin Batman despite what people say—I’m sure I’ll talk about that at some point to—so slotting him in for Bruce would be just as egregious as the League of Assassins crap on season 3 and B. We don’t know the story they want to tell. They chose Ryan. They have a reason. Let them tell their story before you judge them for not telling a different one.)
And finally, that ending. Not Caitlin, not Frost. Interestingly, this was what was teased at the end of season 3, but was disregarded in favor of the Caitlin/Frost as sisters stuff—which I know is controversial, but I’ve grown to appreciate it. At some point you have to accept the decisions writers make, because you can’t force them to have made a different one.
So I’m really intrigued to see what happens here. I mean, who is this woman? Is she a combination of Frost and Caitlin? Or someone who comes from them but is completely new? Clearly that’s what the next episode will be about. And I’m excited. I’ll miss Caitlin in particular quite a bit, but I’m glad the always wonderful Danielle Panabaker is getting some good new material to work with. I’m a little mixed on the design at this point—the blue and brown hair is a little off-putting—but presumably she is a women in transition so-to-speak, so we’ll see what she ends up looking like. Or if this is just who she is, I’ll get used to it.
Overall, this episode filled me with a lot of faith that the strengths of the previous season aren’t going to go away. I think this is gonna be a great last run. And no, I don’t think this show plans to wrap up all the other shows—I think the Legends, Nia, Ryan and the other guest stars are going to be there just so we can have a chance to say goodbye. And that’s probably the right call, even in a 23 episode season there probably wouldn’t be enough time to wrap up everything from all the shows that were cancelled on top of everything that needs wrapping up on The Flash.
So yeah. Excited for what comes next. Bring it on!

Best of friends
Peter Parker x reader, Jason Todd x reader
Summary: You and Jason watch a movie and get closer but what happens when its interrupted?
Tumblr media
Finally arriving home, you and the Wayne boys walk into the common room loud as hell. You laugh as you and Tim listen to Damian and Jason bicker about whatever they’re fighting about this time. Something about Batman or whatever.
If you were to be honest, you weren’t really paying attention. Your mind was on the incident you had with Peter at the Museum. You didn’t understand why he was so cold to you. Never has he ever treated you so cruelly. It pissed you off because he was the one who decided he wanted to ignore you for Liz. Hell, if you really think about it, he basically led you on. Flirting with you and making you believe that he wanted to be with you, only to turn around and fawn over Liz Allen the second he had a chance.
Sensing the shift in the atmosphere, Jason cut Damian off and turned to you. Seeing that you were frowning, off in your own world.  He sighed, knowing it was because of that Peter kid.
“Hey babe.” Jason says suddenly, “ Weren’t you gonna order some food or something?”
Snapping out of your thoughts, you turn to Jason with a smirk on your face, “ You know, for a Wayne, you really have no manners Jaybird.”
And before he can make a quick retort, you sauntered into the kitchen, looking for the take out menus that seemed endless.  Leaving behind a lovestruck Jason and his two smirking brothers.
“You know” Tim says as soon as your out of hearing range, “Staring at her isn’t going to do anything.”
“Except frighten her.” Damian mutters looking up at Jason with a roll of his eyes.
Jason glances at the kitchen, making sure you weren’t able to hear him and them turns to his brothers.
“I need you two to go away as soon as the food gets here” Jason whispers harshly at the two
“What?” “No way, Todd” The two boys protest, wanting to stay in your company (Damian) and finally eat some food (Tim).
“ Look, we leave tomorrow, I want to spend some time alone with Y/n”
Damian looks put out, frowning before opening his mouth to say something and getting cut off by Tim.
“Say if we do this for you...what do we get in return?” Tom says smugly
“Wha- you little shit, can’t you just do me this favor?” Jason says exsaperatly, looking to make sure you weren’t coming back.
“Nope, sorry Jaybird, we’re not Dick.” Tim smirks, “Take over our patrol for two weeks.”
“Two weeks?! No way, three days.”
“Five days and any cookies Alfred makes goes directly to us.” Damian adds in spite.
“A week.” Jason says sternly
“A week...and the cookies.” Tim finally agrees.
“Ugh fine, you terrorists.” Jason sighs, making the deal as soon as you walk in the room.
“Who’s a terrorist?” You ask putting your phone in your back pocket.
“Uhh Bruce, he uh, needs these two for some business thing or whatever.” Jason says not so smoothly.
“Business? I thought he was still in that meeting with my father?” You question. tilting your head in confusion.
“What Todd is trying to say, is that because Drake and I will be taking over the business after Father retires, he requires us to sit in on some of his meetings. Unfortunately, that means we have to excuse ourselves.” Damian chimes in, before nudging Tim and standing.
“Aww, but I already ordered the food, you two can’t wait a couple of minutes?”
“My apologies Y/n, it seems like father is quite insistent, perhaps you can save us some leftovers?” Damian replies, not letting Tim talk.
“Sure Dami” You say sweetly, “ Ill make sure this one doesn’t devour everything”
“Hey!”
Damian ignores Jasons cries. blushing at your smile and nickname before promptly saying goodbye and leading an amused Tim into the elevator.
“Well,” You sigh, “ I guess its just the two of us again.”
“Well, don’t sound too excited,” Jason huffs, “ You wanna watch a movie or something?”
“Sure! Hey, maybe I can finally show you Twilight?”
“Not a chance doll.”
You ended up watching Twilight.  And after the food got here, you both ended up watching New Moon and Eclipse. Jason finally getting into it.
“Why did he kiss her?!” Jason shouts at the screen, jostling you from where you lay on his shoulder. “Jacob has no sense of boundary's.”
“oh but i thought--” “ I don’t wanna hear it.” Jason cuts you off, leaving you smirking.
The two of you sit in silence, watching the screen. Jason adjusts his body so you’re laying on his chest rather than his shoulder. You shudder as he starts to rub your back in soothing circles. Blushing as you have never been this close to another person. No one other than your family...and Peter.
You curse yourself for think about him again, still peeved off at his behavior at the museum and the carnival.
“Hey Y/n” Jason suddenly say, breaking you out of your thoughts.
“Yes?” You reply, moving to look up at his face.
“I...I uh, I had fun with you...these past few days.” Jason stutters, refusing to look in your eyes.
“I had fun too Jaybird.. I didn’t know you have a personality outside of moping and glaring at rich people.” You jest, listening to the deep rumbles of his chuckles from your place on his chest.
“Yeah..you bring out the best in me...I guess.” Jason finally looks at you in your eyes, taking your breath away.
“Y/n I-”
“Why is it so dark in here.” Your father says, suddenly appearing in the living room, startling the two of you away from each other.
“Hey is that chinese?” Steve says
“Yeah, Y/n ordered some earlier” Tim
“Would you turn on the lights?” Bruce Wayne asks.
“Yeah its dark” Bruce Banner adds, flicking on the lights.
“Oh hey kids, whatcha up to” Tony says, finally noticing the two of you on the couch.
“Um...watching a movie” You stutter, your heart racing and face burning for some reason. You feel like you just got caught making out or something.
“Uh huh..” Tony says suspiciously, taking in both of your embarrassed faces, clothes lines on your face, and flat hair from where you were laying.
“A movie huh?” Bruce Wayne says, walking beside Tony, “ Jason, I thought you hated Twilight.”
“It’s not so bad.” Jason says glancing at you. You on the other hand are making silent conversation with your father, as he fights to hold back a laugh and tries not to attack Jason.
“Hey Mr. Stark, you left your phone in the meeting room-- why is everyone staring at the couches?” Peter asks as he walks in, he turns to see you and Jason, disheveled and embarrassed. He makes a conclusion and for some reason...his heart breaks, “Oh.”
“Oh great” You think to yourself, “I wonder how he’s gonna react to this.”
You roll your eyes, “ So, we saved you some food if your hungry.”
“Thank you darling, my sweet daughter that wouldn’t hide anything from me.” Tony says sweetly
“Oh can it dad” You reply with a laugh, “Foods on the counter, we’re watching Breaking Dawn in a few minutes.”
You can hear the adults groan as they make their way into the kitchen, you smirk and settle back down next to Jason, slinging your legs up in his lap.
“Hey, what where you gonna tell me before my dad came in?” You ask looking at Jason.
“Uhh, nothing, it wasn’t that important.” Jason says quickly
“Okayy” You reply, not really believing him but leaving it alone.
The adults, plus Damian, Tim, and Peter all come back into the living room, filling the couches and floors as they wait for you to press play. You see Peter look at you and your feet in Jason's lap, before he decides to sit next to Tim and Damian. You frown, Peter always sat with you during movie nights,
“Alright kiddo, lets get this movie night going.” Tony says, gesturing you to press play.
You start the movie and ask FRIDAY to shut off the light. The previous mood being broken, you feel awkward as Jason fiddles with a string on your pants. You can’t settle down as you feel eyes on you.
You take a quick look around, seeing that everyone is occupied with the movie. Then you make eye contact with Peter. It’s hard to tell in the dark, but you almost see sadness in his eyes, but as soon as you make eye contact he glares and turns his head, watching the movie.
Boy what a weird day.

“You're a good man, Sam. This one's on me, though” Steve answered his friend and directed himself to Bucky. “Don't do anything stupid 'till I get back.”
“How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you” they both chuckle and hug. Bucky knows something is up with Steve, he knows him and he sees all the signs that something is making him nervous, unsettled. “Gonna miss you, Buddy.”
“It's gonna be okay, Buck” Steve assures his friend. Truth is, he is not sure it will. Steve’s been anxious, every since he saw her that day he couldn’t help but feel his heart ache. All he wanted was to go straight to her and hug her and never let go. He knows he has a decision to make, an important one in fact, but he can’t help but wonder the consequences that the deepest desires of his heart would cause in the timeline, and that itself makes him pray everything will work out as planned for once in his life. Steve goes over to the Quantum portal and activates the time-travel suit.
“How long is this gonna take?” Sam asks.
“For him? As long as he needs. For us? Five seconds… Ready, Cap? Alright. We'll meet you back here, okay?”
“I’ll see you in a minute” Steve tells his friends before he disappears on the platform.
***********
“Steve!!”
“Steve, answer the coms! Are you seeing this??” Steve hears the voice screaming at his past version while you’re all fighting the Wakanda Battle. It’s you. God, he has missed you so much during the past 5 years. He almost cries knowing what is to happen in the near future to you. He can’t let it happen again.
Steve knows his past version is too far from where you where fighting many aliens all by yourself. He knows that what you where referring is a few alien ships arriving from the sky, and normally he would go directly to you but Thanos is about to show up in Wakanda and take all of his attention. Back then, he couldn’t have reached you on time to stop that alien from stabbing you seconds before half the universe is turned to dust. But now, damn him if he wouldn’t be there to take you out of the battle alive.
Steve knows he had to act quickly so that everyone would assume you just got dusted too. When people were to show up in 5 years and you didn’t… well he would worry about that later.
The soldier sees the aliens trapping you in the middle of them and they start to close the circle, leaving you with less and less space to defend yourself from their attacks. You were losing. He could see your movements slower and you were clearly tired. Your breath was heavy and you had injuries on your arms and torso. Steve decides now is a time as good as any to get you out of here. He steps out of his hiding place and runs to you.
With Steve there you both manage to get the aliens down. You seemed to be ready to thank him when the atmosphere changes. What was before a chaotic battle noise, now was silence. That was it, Thanos had snapped his fingers, and Steves time gap to act was getting smaller. He grabbed your hand and dragged you to where he was waiting before. The confusion was evident in your face but he didn’t have the luxury to explain it to you in the moment, so he just asks you to trust him and you both wait until it’s safe to leave without people seeing you or him.
************
Steve could hear the raindrops outside while he prepared a tea for you. He looked out of the kitchen window and spoted you sitting in a small couch that you both decided to put on the front porch of your house. You were wearing his big sweatshirt and had a blanket covering your legs, the perfect description of cozy if someone ever asks Steve.
The weather was chilly but Steve couldn’t feel any happier. He had you, he finally had you in his arms after spending so long without hearing your voice or feeling your touch. He spent 5 years missing your presence, your quirks and your habits. He felt so empty, like a man out of time again. He was out of time with you, except that now he wasn’t.
As soon as you both had been able to leave Wakanda without being caught, he told you what had happened. It wasn’t as if you hadn’t realised his face seemed more tired and older than hours ago, when you had last seen his past self. To you it was obvious when you looked at him, at his eyes that carried the weight of the world, that he was there for a reason. It was clear to you that you wouldn’t had made it out alive if he hadn’t interfered with the aliens and so you understood beforehand what he would tell you, but Steve still had to explain everything else, and he did.
The soldier cried a lot when he told you what life without you was like and it broke you heart to see such a strong man in such a fragile state. Steve then mentioned Stark’s plan of retirement, of moving out of town and starting a family maybe, and he said he wanted that with you, which you agreed.
And now you both lived in a simple house in front of a small lake, that had a lot of trees around which provided the most beautiful sight wether it is a sunny or a rainy day. The house was far away from the avengers compound, you both pretty much spend 5 years secluded without seeing your friends in order to not mess too much with the timeline. But there was one change that couldn’t be avoided and you as much as Steve knew that he would have to reveal in a couple of months, when the avengers were supposed to bring everyone back from the dust.
“How is my two favourite people in the world?” Steve chants from the door. He hands you the tea and hugs your side while you accommodate to his body.
“We’re good, the baby is sleeping I guess, he just stopped moving” you chuckle lightly as your hand goes to your belly to caress you 8 month bump. You feel Steve’s hand on your bump and you see him sporting the biggest grin.
“You sleeping there J?” He lowers his head and whispers to the baby, receiving no kicks back.
“Yeah, definitely sleeping. Probably tired from the party that he threw this morning on my belly. I swear I couldn’t sleep 3 hours straight” you yawn tiredly.
“One more month and he’ll be here with us, honey” you cuddle closer to him as you drink your tea. One more month and your baby James will be here. Just one more month and you both are gonna be the happiest ever.
************
“And returning in, five, four, three, two, one–“ Bruce activates the Quantum platform, but nothing happens.
“Where is he?” Sam asks nervously, wondering if something went wrong.
“I don't know. He blew right by his time stamp. He should be here.”
“Well, get him back.”
“I'm trying.”
“Get him the hell back!”
“I said, I'm trying!
“Sam...” Bucky calls, he’s looking at a man sitting in a log. They both walk closer to see Steve, a few years older, wearing normal clothes but caring a round bag with him.
Sams the first one to approach. “So did something go wrong, or did something go right? You look older, no offence”
“Well, after I put the stones back, I thought, maybe I'll try some of that life Tony was telling me to get.” Steve answers, he knew the past few months made an impact in his appearance, considering the baby wouldn’t let you or him sleep for too long. It’s almost laughable that the great Captain America was taken down by his baby son.
“And how'd that work out for you?”
“It is beautiful. And that’s why I can’t have this anymore” Steve hands the shield to Sam. “You’re the best man for the job, and I know you’ll make it proud… How does it feel?”
“Like it belongs to someone else.”
“It doesn’t.”
“You wanna tell me about her?” He asks seeing a wedding ring on his friends finger, and Steve smiles getting up to go back to you and your son.
“Eventually, but for now, I don't think I will.”

Starker - Gone
tw angst, mentions of drinking- but a happy ending.
It’s done.
It’s finished.
Tony realises it a little suddenly. Feels cold and hollow all over. Riddled.
Dusk has just gone, and the fresh darkness seeps in through the windows. The penthouse is empty. It’s just him and his perfect furniture and his state of the art, pioneering technology.
Peter’s gone.
Of course, he’s been gone for months now. Shuffled out, head held irritatingly high, face drawn tight, stuff in boxes, and stayed with his aunt.
Whatever, Tony thinks bitterly, the kid’s 300 million dollars better off, he’ll buy a nice beach house somewhere and Tony will never see him again.
Mr. Wobbles, the fucking awful cat, is gone too. He was Peter’s Tony had realised, even as he’d argued for it over the glass table.
“Yours!” Peter had screeched, making the lawyers on both sides wince. Making Tony smirk victoriously, finally, at having gotten a reaction. “I adopted him, Tony. Me. My name is on all the papers, you- you hate him! You never feed him, or play with him, or give him treats, Mr Wobbles is mine!”
“Tony,” Peggy Carter, his (very expensive) lawyer, had touched his arm and said quietly, “it’s a cat. Do you really want the responsibility?”
Tony had slunk back into the leather seat. Shrugged and looked away like he didn’t care if the cat lived or died.
He does care, is the thing.
He looks over to the kitchen, down by the side of the fridge, where the ceramic blue food bowl used to lie.
It’s bare now.
He remembers, as he loosens his tie, takes off his armour, how Peter had looked the first time with the kitten in his arms. Brown eyes glistening and lips so pink and stained with the strawberries from breakfast.
“Tony! Please, I promise, I’ll take care of him-”
“Sweetheart,” Tony had chuckled, dragging Peter in for a kiss, “it’s your home too. Have the little monster. You don’t need permission. It’s yours.” Peter had beamed, lifted Mr Wobbles up close to Tony’s face (the creature had tried to blind him) and said “He’s ours.”
Even now, the thought makes him smile. Crooked. Sad.
Hollow, again.
That’s how the penthouse feels.
Pepper’s done an excellent job. He hadn’t seen the pieces of Peter disappear one by one, he just left for one of the divorce hearings one morning, came back one afternoon, and it was as if Peter had never been there.
Gone are the pairs of beaten converse, even though Tony had bought him suede shoes, gone are the hoodies next to blazers on the coat hook. Gone are the fruits and vegetables for those disgusting smoothies he’d always insist Tony drink. Gone is the sugary cereal because the boy’s a walking paradox and gone is-
Peter.
Tony swallows hard. There’s a lump in his throat. The first tickle of grief in this whole, drawn out process.
Peter’s gone.
Mr Wobbles is gone.
***
He won’t turn on the lights. Won’t go to the bedroom.
What he does do, because Peter’s not here to give him those huge bambi eyes, is pour himself a glass of scotch.
Then another. Then some bourbon. Bitter. All the good stuff he hasn’t felt the need to touch in two years.
Two years with Peter.
On their second anniversary, he remembers Peter’s face- flushed pink, stammering, eyes darting around to take in every inch of the party. Streamers and friends and cake and a table almost buckling under the weight of the presents.
“Tony,” he’d hiccuped, curling into Tony’s chest, shy and excited, “it’s too much.”
Tony had kissed the top of his curls. Felt pride bursting over the seams. Happy to make Peter happy. He’d felt good. “No such thing, baby,” he’d promised.
He’d lied.
Instead, Tony drinks, toes off his shoes, and reaches for the box that his lawyer gave him.
Peggy’s a great lawyer. Expensive, but the one Pepper insisted on.
“I don’t need a lawyer-”
“Peter could claim 50% of SI, Tony. 50%, do you hear me?”
Peter could have, of course. But he didn’t. Tony knew he wouldn’t. Peter’s not the vindictive type. Even in the midst of heartbreak.
He reaches for the box. It’s full of transcripts of the divorce proceedings, there are memory sticks of the recordings.
It all had to be recorded, for some reason. The most high profile divorce of the century.
Tony winces as he thinks of the tabloids. Half of them smear Peter as a gold-digger, wrong wrong wrong, the other half say Tony was cheating, abusive, desperate to go back to his philandering playboy days. Those are wrong too.
But he guesses, Husband refuses to change doesn’t make that good of a headline.
His laptop glows with harsh brightness as he slides in the memory stick. He sits crossed-legged on the ground, muscles protesting, and he forgoes the glass and drinks from the bottle.
It’s not classy. His mom wouldn’t want-
“10% is too high.” Peggy says efficiently on the video, scanning through the contracts. Tony sits beside her, slouched, comfortable, sunglasses on. Pale blue suit. He looks bored. Like he doesn’t have a care in the world.
The real Tony knows better. Knows that those sunglasses were hiding blood shot eyes, eyes focused on-
Peter. Small. Tired. Straight-back, hands folded, in a crisp white shirt.
“We’re not asking for 10% of total assets,” Coulson says softly. “But Mr Parker has made significant contributions to the biochemistry division of SI and as such he is entitled to 3% of the division and a 2% shareholder stake in the company. His marriage to Tony justifies the other 5%.” Coulson looks up from the paper and at Peggy. His voice is gentle: “We’re within our right to go to 50%. We’re asking for 10%. 3% biochemistry, 7% of SI.”
Peggy meets Coulon’s eyes. She sighs. “7% total. 3% Biochemistry, 4% of SI.”
Coulson turns to look at Peter, who murmurs something. Coulson looks like he wants to argue further, but he doesn’t.
“Agreed.” He says.
Both lawyers write. Then they move on to the next thing.
Tony thinks about Coulson. Looks at him on the video. When Pepper had said she’d secured Peggy Carter, he’d nodded, then blinked.
“What about Phil?” He’d asked.
Pepper had kept her face carefully neutral. “He’s Peter’s lawyer.”
“Oh.” Tony had said.
He’d thought Phil was his friend. They’d known each other for years, after all, and then he chastises himself. Phil and Peter had become fast friends. Manning the barbecue out on the deck, laughing, fangirling over Captain America.
“Tony,” Phil had said, coming up to him at the end of it all. “Are you- are we, okay?”
“Yeah.” Tony had nodded. He didn’t have it in him to have another enemy. “I get it. He asked you first.”
“No, Tony.” Phil frowned, shaking his head. “He needed me more.”
What did that mean?
Tony thinks now, swirling the remnants of the bottle, watching the lawyers go back and forth and him and Peter not saying a word.
Why did Peter need Coulson? The divorce was Peter’s idea. Kid should’ve been happy.
The Peter on the screen turns to look out of the window. It’s raining. He’s framed with silver light.
He doesn’t look happy.
Tony tries to think harder. Mind whirring. Tries to think of things he’s long ignored.
Of the fighting.
Of Peter’s pinched face.
He thinks, with more shame, about the times he raised his voice. How he yelled. When Peter would try to pull him out of calculations, try to coax him into eating, try to talk him down from the edge of self-destruction. Tony remembers lashing out.
“You want me to give up being Iron Man? You’re out of your mind, Peter. You’re trying to change me.”
“I’m trying to save you-”
“It’s who I am!” Tony had roared, so loudly that Peter had jerked backwards: afraid. “You’re trying to get me to abandon who I am. Well, I won’t change that way. That’s me, baby, you either take it or leave it.”
He’d been so angry. So scared. At the thought of the red and gold being put to rest.
He’s Iron Man.
“Tony.” Peter had sniffled. “I love you so much. I...I don’t want you to get hurt, but it’s more than that. You’re older now. Sam is taking over from Steve, and...and I don’t think anyone would mind, people know how much you’ve done for us all, if you wanted to retire. There are other people to be heroes now, you can-”
“Peter.” Tony had whispered, hugging him. “I promise. I won’t get hurt.”
He’d been right. But it had been a band aid on a leaking roof.
He didn’t get hurt. He saved the day. Again and again and again and again.
And each time he was gone, Peter would be pelted with rain until he gave all together.
“I want a divorce.”
Cool glass table. Thick fountain pens. Lawyers. Mr Wobbles.
Divorce of the Century - Tony and Peter call it quits. Insider reveals all.
Iron Man = Iron Heart?

***
The sun trickles in the next morning.
Tony has a hangover.
His laptop is still playing the footage.
He opens his eyes to Peter’s face, lit with gold, he hears Peggy agree to 300 million.
Peter should smile.
He just looks sad.
Tony reaches for his phone.
It rings 8 times. Tony can picture the man on the other end. Watching it ring. Watching his name. Debating.
He answers.
“Tony.”
“He never stopped loving me.”
“I know.” Steve says quietly, huffing air into the phone, “We all know.”
Tony’s pride has saved him. It also makes him blind.
Steve comes over. Awkward, a little hesitant.
Steve is another thing Peter won in the divorce. If anyone won. If anything can be won.
Peter got Mr Wobbles. Got Steve. Got Bucky, by extension. Got Sam.
Tony got Nat and Clint.
Bruce and Thor refused to pick sides.
But Steve’s here and Tony thinks brokenly maybe all isn’t lost
“He wants me to give up being Iron Man.” Tony croaks, as Steve casts his righteous blue gaze over the penthouse. Over the box of transcripts. Over the empty bottles. Over Tony. Over the video of Peter and Coulson and the end of love.
Steve nods. “You don’t want to give up Iron Man?”
Tony nods his head. Shakes it. Shrugs. Doesn’t know.
Steve presses his lips together. “Tony, Peter can’t breathe properly when you’re Iron Man. He can’t focus. Can’t function. He’s so scared for you. If you can’t function when you’re not Iron Man, this separation is for the best.”
It’s so cruel. Too honest and brutal to hear.
“But we love each other.” Tony insists.
Steve looks sad. “Sometimes that isn’t enough.”
**
Tony doesn’t go to shareholder meetings.
But it’s three days later. He can’t sleep in their bed. Keeps thinking he hears Peter’s laugh or Mr Wobbles’ plaintive meow.
So when he sees Peter on the list. When he realises Peter might come. Could come. Might be there, within touching distance-
He puts on his best three piece suit. A dark tie. Gets his hair done.
He walks in, and fake-smiles at a few, blustering old men happy to see him.
In the long, oak boardroom, he sees Peter.
He looks young. Really young for the room. 25. In a pinstripe suit that looks- tailored. Good. Good for him.
And on his hand is-is-
It’s his wedding ring.
As soon as Peter looks up, he meets Tony’s eyes, and then honey-brown dart down to his finger, and they jerk under the table.
Tony can’t move.
Peter’s wearing it. Still wearing it. Why- what does-
His own is back in the penthouse. Set next to the photograph of his mother. Another sign of failure.
But maybe- maybe not yet. Maybe it isn’t over till the opera lady sings.
He spends the whole meeting watching Peter, and he isn’t subtle about it either. The other shareholders clear their throats awkwardly.
Peter lets him look. Open and graceful. He lets Tony drink his fill.
It’s never been difficult to look at Peter, after all. He’s stupidly beautiful. Big eyes, long lashes, and that jaw-
Pepper kicks him under the table. Tony barely feels it.
He keeps looking. Keeps drinking. Peter’s skin, soft, freckled, the bow of his lips, how he smiles, so wide he might burst.
He waits till the end of the meeting. Everyone files out very quickly- bar Pepper who lingers, before sighing.
Then it’s just him and Peter.
He watches Peter steel himself. Take a breath. Fix the armour in place that Tony found so frustrating during the divorce. The armour that hides Peter away. Behind an expressionless face and a blank, polite smile.
Gone, is the open boy.
Peter’s preparing himself for battle and-
Peter needed me more. Coulson had said.
Tony remembers asking Peter to join the Biochemistry division. He remembers asking Peter to move in. He remembers the late nights of equations. The way the tower would pull his iron man suit off him and Peter would be there, curled up, waiting.
He thinks. He thinks about Peter’s Oscorp Industries offer to head their Bio-tech division- rejected. For Tony.
He thinks of Peter’s dream to live in the sprawling country, away from the city.
He thinks of how Peter loves late night walks, hand in hand, staring at the twinkling lights of buildings.
He thinks of how Peter told him he was scared that Tony would get hurt.
There’s something about change. All the things Peter’s given him. Given and given and given until there was nothing left to give.
Tony hasn’t changed. He’s softer, more loving, but that’s because- of Peter.
All Peter’s ever asked of him, ever truly asked of him, was to retire.
Tony licks his lips- his tongue’s so dry- and he whispers: “It’s who I am, Pete. I’m sorry.”
Peter closes his eyes for a long, long moment.
Then he opens them, and smiles sadly. “I know, Tony.” He whispers, fragile, “I know. If there were any other way- you’re the smartest man in the world. You’d have figured it out. I think this…” he gestures between them helplessly. “I think maybe this is the only way. I’m sorry too.”
Then he twists the ring off his finger and Tony stops him.
“Keep it,” he begs, “please.”
Peter nods, tears slipping down his cheeks, and he hurries away.
Tony stands there, chest clenching- in more agony than he’s ever been. His jaws ache. He wants to scream. To disappear.
He goes home.
**
He’s aggressively stripping wires and thinking. Thinking. Thinking.
He’s picturing life in five years.
Picturing waking up with even more aches and pains than he has now. Of stepping down, of giving the suit to a plucky MIT graduate who Tony can mentor.
He imagines getting in his car, driving to the outskirts of New York, the rich, sprawling greenery.
Of finding Peter’s home. Gorgeous. Stately. Framed with foxgloves.
He imagines walking up the steps, knocking on the door and there’s Peter.
Even more handsome. Relaxed. Happy. He’ll smile, Tony will get down on his knees, beg for him back and Peter-
Peter will look heart-broken.
“Tony,” he’ll say, “I didn’t spend five years waiting for you. Hoping you’d come to your senses. I didn’t put my life on pause for you. And you should never have expected me to. I moved on.”
And then someone else will say, “Petey, who’s at the door?”
And he’ll come out. Peter’s husband. He’ll be handsome and young and everything Peter deserves.
Tony has to set down his tools because his hands are trembling with anger over Peter’s non-existent future husband.
Is that what he’s expecting? Is he expecting Peter to wait? To wait until Tony’s done with being Iron Man? To put his life on hold indefinitely until Tony-
It makes him sick.
He won’t do that. Not to Peter, not ever.
Online, a tabloid article: Iron Man = Iron Heart catches his eye.
They’re trying to say he has a heart of stone, but what he thinks is-
Iron Heart is a good superhero name.
**
Riri is wickedly clever.
She has wide eyes when he arrives at her dorm. She recognises him, clearly. But she quickly starts talking over him, shows him the prototype suit she’s designed.
He’s already seen it in videos.
“This what you wanna do?” He says, eyes catching a photo of her and a girl kissing on the wall. “You wanna be a superhero?”
“More than anything.” She says, getting to her feet, 21 years old and ready to take on the world.
“I used to want it more than anything too.” Tony nods, and he feels warm. “I want something else more now.”
She cocks her head. Trying to gauge him.
He tries to go for casual. “My hus- ex-husba- my Peter- he’s great with bio-tech. Do you- he could help- upgrade- I-”
“Mr Stark,” Riri says, pulling up her socks, folding herself onto her desk chair. “What’s the point in saving the world if you never get to live in it? Life is finite.”
“You’re a good kid.” He manages. “We might make a hero of you yet.”
She grins.
He thinks she’ll be a forced to be reckoned with.
*
It’s not a beach house. Or a stately home in the expensive part of New York, it’s a townhouse in Brooklyn.
Beautiful, large, homey. Tony rings on the doorbell, fiddles with his collar, wonders if he should have brought flowers-
The door opens. Tony imagines it’ll be May, or maybe a Butler, or maybe a boyfriend-
It’s Peter. He’s in pyjamas. Old ones. Tony recognises them. Mr Wobbles is curled around his feet. He shivers in the cold air.
Tony opens his mouth but doesn’t know what to say. Peter looks up at him, half hidden behind the door, the one eye Tony can see is wide and amazed. Like he maybe didn’t think Tony would come back.
“I love you, Peter Stark.” He says, remembering how Peter’s fingers had shaken when they’d signed the final papers. “And I’d do anything for you. I found a- girl. She’s great, you’ll meet her, Iron Heart, I thought, just toying around, she’ll need help. A mentor, maybe. Dead parents, always seems to be the case. But I thought maybe you and me- we could, help- guide her, I don’t-”
Peter edges out a little more. Mr Wobbles shuffles back into the warmth.
“I thought-” Peter bites his lip. “I thought Iron Man was a part of you?”
“You’re a part of me, Peter.” Tony insists. He laughs. “I’m old. Stupid. Even Cap’n Ice realised what I’ve been trying to ignore...the world doesn’t need me anymore.”
Peter reaches out, takes Tony’s hand. “I need you.” He confesses quietly, smiling.
“And you are my world.” Tony realises aloud, tingling with glee.
***
Iron Man Retires.
Stark and Parker ReUnited.
Iron Heart Makes Debut
Three Times the Starks made us Swoon
Tony Stark to celebrate 10th Wedding Anniversary.
***
He wakes up years later.
He trips over Peter’s shoes. Mr Wobbles pounces on his vulnerable toes as he walks past the bed.
He walks past one of the guest bedrooms: can hear Riri snoring.
He walks down into the lab. It glows with blue light, and there, hunched over the Iron Heart suit is Peter. He’s methodically working out all the damage it took on Riri’s latest stint. The fright she’d given them both- falling into that lake-
He looks like Tony, Tony realises. Of course his husband does, the narcissist that he is.
“Hey Pete,” Tony murmurs, rubbing his eyes, coming closer and kissing Peter on the head. “It’s late.”
“Is it?” Peter hums around a yawn, “I was just finishing up…”
“Yeah, yeah,” Tony chuckles, “I’ve heard that one before. Used it a few times."
Peter grins at that; tired, happy. “I guess maybe you need to tire me out,” he says wickedly, spinning in the chair, legs spreading further apart.
“Mm,” Tony murmurs, leaning down, kissing him. “Extra large pizza?”
“Cheese in the crust.” Peter nods, and they kiss again. And again.
And again.

The Scorch - LOKI- BUCKY mini-fic.
Hi there! I haven’t posted any written works on here for years, so forgive me that my first one back may be a little rusty! I just want to share a small fic I wrote with some of you, hopefully you enjoy.
So its after Endgame, lets forget that Loki dies thanku v much, and Steve doesn’t have his ending either. It’s a lil messy as I’m not great with crossing storylines, I usually just insert the reader into already written ones.. This may eventually lead to a split off between Loki and Bucky, the reader will have to choose who they want! But for now, it’s very Loki based. Lmk if u like, and any suggestions on continuing. Thx:)
Warnings - Violence/use of blades/knives and fire/scalding/burning.
Word count - 4K
It was unimaginable that we would all make it back from Thanos's army, but we knew it was nothing short of a miracle and we were all insanely grateful for this. Tony wasn't the same, his body was withering faster than it would have done before, but he knew that this was nothing that he couldn't seek to fix, seeing as his mind was as quick witted as ever. Barton took off back to his family, bringing Natasha with him for some much-needed time off, though Nat was never one to back down if there was a mission that was needed to be handled. This was the stage that I was at these days.
I hadn't joined the team too soon before the snap, but when I did, I had already lost those dearest to me, finding my home within the Avengers compound thanks to Tony. Though I hadn't seen much of him through the years after the snap, as I was tasked with tailing Rogers, he had always told me that I was welcome at his cabin table with his wife and daughter, making his family such dear friends of mine.
The Avengers compound was my home now, even though Tony had permanently retired from the team, there were a few of us that still worked under Fury, choosing to live there so that we were safe. The Vision and Wanda lived here for now, until such a time that their new home was built, the Captain, Bucky and Sam dropped by from time to time, acting like they didn't want to be a part of any team but always finding themselves socialising happily when they did. Same went for Nat, as she found comfort in Bruce's room sometimes, much to the pretended ignorance of us all. Thor stopped by often, claiming that Norway may be good for comfort, but sometimes he needed the discipline to get him back in his head.
It was on one of these trips that he decided to bring the newest member of the team, his brother, Loki.
"You've got to be kidding me." Steve said, standing with his arms crossed in the lounge. Steve, James, Nat, and I sat within, prepping me for my next assignment in Argentina. "No way is he joining the team."
"Last time I checked you're not even on the team yourself, Captain." He raven-haired man smirked, glancing to me, then back to Steve. I had heard of Loki, mainly from Thor, but it was clear that everyone had some sort of opinion of him, and the majority of it was bad. I had always been intrigued, as before I joined the team, I was hardly the golden child, which was how I came onto Fury's radar in the first place, so I knew what effect the evil expectations had on a person.
"Not officially." He responded, looking down to Nat, "But there are people on the team that will have an issue." Loki then looked to Nat, eyebrows raised, expecting her to agree and wish for him not to join.
"Oh, come on, comrades, Loki is different now, trust me!" Thor smiled, clapping his brother on the back, much to his annoyance, "He's still miserable as ever, but he will fight with us, not against us."
"Fury clearly trusts me enough to allow me to join your little club." He smiled, raising his hands, "I just wish for the place to stay, since my home was blown up and the new home smells of cod." He sneered, looking at Thor's disapproving face. I looked to the faces on those who sat before me, knowing that they all were only here part time either way, realising that perhaps I should speak. I stood, making them all turn to me, Loki's eyes set on mine full of intent.
"Well, I think we should give him a shot." I shrugged, "I was allowed even though I burnt down a city or two, so, I don't see why not." I smiled at Steve, then down to Nat, all showing equally unamused faces, Bucky's especially. It was always odd looking at his face and remembering our past, though in times like this I could see his anger as a simple ruse, knowing that he agreed with me wholeheartedly. "He can come with me to Argentina, as a test run." I suggested, making Bucky scoff.
"No way." He muttered.
"Yeah, I agree, that's a terrible idea." Steve shook his head. I could feel a sense of anger boiling inside me, which wasn't unfounded; they often looked at me like a younger sister, just as they did with Nat, but I supposed as they knew her for longer, they knew that she could handle herself. I could too, they just hadn't seen that yet.
"Tough. He's coming with me." I replied, defying their looks of shock. "God of Mischief, you're with me. Argentina, small hydra starts up, do you think you can handle it?" I had made my way to him at this point, only within a couple of steps of him. He smirked, and suddenly I lost all confidence I had started out with; his eyes looked me up and down, drinking me in in such an intimidating way. He was a god, far more powerful than me, and for whatever reason I really wanted to know him better.
"Of course."
-
As much as I started out wanting to side with the God, one jet ride with him and I already regretted it. I decided to try and get to know him, to ask him some questions about himself, only receiving sarcastic remarks as his responses. I had asked him of his time in New York, though supposing that it was a sore subject I opted to talk about his powers and what he could actually do, as I had only heard, though when he told me that it was nothing that would interest a human, I grew inpatient. He wished to play around, not to let me know him at all, and so I decided to just stop talking.
"Your eyes, do they relate to your talents?" He then asked after nearly half an hour of silence. I nearly completely ignored him, feeling that similar rage that I had attempted to defend this guy, and all he repaid me in was rudeness.
"Kind of." I replied, not wishing to talk any more.
"Well, they are beautiful." He commented, taking me by surprise. This of course wasn't the only compliment I have ever had on my eyes, the gold sheen often took people by surprise, but why on earth did he think that it was appropriate to say now?
"Why won't you answer any of my questions about you?" I then asked, taking the attention off his own question. He was silent for a minute, "I took a chance taking you along, I could have said no."
"Don't act like you have done me a favour, I could find somewhere else to live if I needed to." He scoffed, angering me further. My knuckles tightened around the jets steering, trying to keep it together.
"I have done you a favour, you clearly want in this group or you wouldn't have shown up." I retorted, "Is it so bad that I want to know you a little more? We're both the odd ones out-"
"You do not know what it is like being me." He interrupted, gaining his own anger now, "Do not pretend you do, you are just a human with some magic tricks." I watched from the corner of my eye as he rolled his eyes, slouching back in his seat, "Tricks that I have not even seen, by the way, so please try not to need saving too much while we complete this mission."
I closed my mouth, not wishing for my anger to get the better of me just yet. I knew that I had to contain it and utilise it for the mission, so that I didn't have to rely on Loki at all. I felt a sudden rush of wanting to prove the god wrong.
"I really wanted to like you; you know." I said through gritted teeth, thankfully seeing our landing destination only a few miles ahead.
"And I knew that I wouldn't like you." He replied, his smirk heard through his words.
-
We stood either side of a large brick gateway, glancing behind it and trying to determine the best course of play. It was just a small branch of Hydra still floating around, those that had disappeared in the snap and had returned in a way to start up their resources again. There was a group of maybe fifteen men surrounding the compound, this compound that really was in the middle of nowhere and took us all of thirty minutes to sneak up to the gate, I looked over to Loki.
"You shapeshift, right?" I whisper-shouted, remembering Thor's stories of his brother turning to a snake. He nodded, face screwed, "Get one of those uniforms, take me in as prisoner." I suggested, watching as the cogs then whirred in his mind. "It's the easiest way." I tried to prompt him further.
"I don't like easy." He responded, then beginning to smirk, "I want to see your tricks." He motioned his hand to the gate, wishing for me to go in first. I furrowed my brows, allowing his arrogance to make my anger grow.
"Oh man, I really don't like you." I growled, coming to smirk after however, "But, if you insist."
I reached my hands over my shoulders to take a hold of my swords, watching Loki's eyes watch me as I pulled them in front of me, allowing my eyes to glint and set both blades alight. It was true that I had turned cities to ash before, and now it was clear to him that I had seriously and literally burnt them down. I turned, running as fast as I could into the sandy compound, managing to get near to the centre before any of them managed to turn their guns to me; before two of them could I allowed for my leg to spin out, spouting flames from the pad of my foot, catching the three that stood closest to me. They fell to the floor, rolling to get the burning away from them as their comrades began to shoot; I spun my swords in a way to deflect those bullets that came for me. Knowing that I couldn't stay on the ground any longer I pushed my legs, flinging me up about ten metres, coming down behind two of them and slicing their backs with my blades.
I could hear the fast footsteps of one of them attempting to come from behind, though he was stopped as I pointed my blade towards him, watching as the flames that encased the metal emerged from its tip to then surround the man. I smirked; it had felt good to get back in the action. I turned, quickly throwing one blade into the chest of another, running towards him and retrieving it from him before I spun the other, throwing those bullets back towards two others. I turned to look as two had retreated within, presumably to warn the others that worked inside; at this point I wondered if Loki had disappeared, or if he was simply lying-in wait for me to be done, either way, I heard the steps of more men barrelling towards me at pace. I threw my blades at two of them to my sides, one going through a chest, the other a stomach, leaving the last man coming for me head on.
He threw the first punch, easily missed by a duck to the right, and with only a knee to the stomach and an elbow to the back, the man was on the floor. I knew that these new hydra agents weren't going to be up to scratch, but I found it almost insulting that they were so terrible at fighting. I wrapped my hand around the man’s neck, picking him up to that his toes only touched the floor; I smirked, feeling the palm of my hand grow hotter and hotter as the man began to shout. Suddenly, the feeling of cold metal against the back of my head alerted me to the fact that I had missed a man, something to do with the distraction of fun that this had given me. I dropped the man to the ground, noting the boiled skin in the shape of my hand.
As I turned, the metal of the gun was dropped, as was the body of the man holding it. As his body fell, I saw the gold knife that was planted within his back slowly disappear, looking up to see Loki's smirking face as he walked towards me.
"See, if I was not here, you would have been dead." He raised his eyebrows, stopping short of laughing in my face. I growled, turning to retrieve my blades from the bodies nearby, dousing them before attaching them back to me. I looked around, seeing the scattered bodies, some still on fire and some not, but none remaining alive. "Nice tricks." He then said, trying to act as though he meant it. I rolled my eyes.
"Come on. We need to get whatever information we can."
-
It was one thing hearing of the powers that Loki possessed, and another to actually see them in action. The duplication, meaning one moment I thought I was talking and looking at the real him, only for it to vanish before my eyes and reveal he is several feet away from me. He had finally used his shapeshifting ability to change into one of the guards like I had suggested, letting himself into a room with ease before shooting down those inside. He seemed to like watching me watch him, I would stand back, impressed, after he would use his powers, and he would smirk at me once his show was over.
The control room was last, requiring us to actually fight together rather than one by one. I hadn't thought it would go as well as it did as he seemed to be someone who preferred to work alone, but as we fought it seemed we worked around each other well, him throwing his punches, grabbing a hold of an officer, and holding him up for me to burn.
"We seem to work well together, you and I." He said, panting once the last body had dropped. He smirked, having a look of surprise on his face.
"Or more I work well and you're a good sidekick." I shrugged, moving to the control computers where the officers from before had attempted to erase their hard drive. "They didn't manage to wipe it." I sighed a breath of relief, knowing that our fight hadn't been for nothing.
"Sidekick?" He questioned, coming to my side as I inserted the flash drive given to me before the mission.
"They have more start-ups." I then said, taking his attention away from me and to the screen. There was correspondence between them, showing at least five different locations to which, their information was coming or going. He leaned over, getting a better look, though as he did, I could suddenly feel his presence beside me. The smell of leather and whatever cologne God's now wore entered my nostrils, taking my brain away from what was before me. I thought Loki attractive, of course, but there is no way I could think of him in any other way than an annoying tagalong. not right now at least. "Brazil, Tunisia, the Ukraine." I sighed.
"Does that mean that we will have more missions together?" He then asked, attempting to sound disgusted. I rolled my eyes, trying not to smirk.
"No, it means that I will have more missions. I'm definitely not bringing you along." I scoffed, snatching the flash drive from the computer once it had finished downloading. I stood straight, only then realising how close he was to me. His eyes bore down at me, amusement shining within.
"That's good to hear. I don't think I could take any more of your little bonfire powers." He contested, trying not to break from his egotistical character. The hints of a smirk teased at his lips, and if the smell of burning flesh wasn't surrounding us both, and the urge to punch the smugness from his face wasn't growing in favour, I would have said we were having a moment.
"Let's get going then. Got to get you home so you can brush up on your magic act." I smiled a wry smile, pushing past him in attempts to leave. Though, the moment I came to the threshold of the door, I felt the searing burn of a blade being pushed through my chest. A soldier had stood by the door, waiting for his opportunity to strike, and finding it when I never bothered to check before stepping out. I dropped to my knees immediately, watching as a series of knives were then thrown into the chest of that very officer, forcing him to drop dead before me.
Loki suddenly came behind me, on his knees also, holding me up against his chest in a panic. He thought I was truly dying, and so I couldn't let this moment go by without playing him at his own game. I allowed myself to lean back, pulling the knife from my chest and throwing it to the floor before I looked up to him, taking in his look of worry.
"You can heal, right? You can heal..." He began to stutter, becoming even more shaky when I slowly shook my head. "No, you can't die, I-I will be blamed, this will be my fault." I scoffed, coughing as I did.
"You'll be blamed? Wow... you really do only care about yourself." I muttered, voice getting weaker as I spoke. "You can't even admit that you'd be sad if I died." I tried to muster a laugh, allowing it to make me cough further and forcing his grip on me to become tighter. His scent was intoxicating, so much so that I thought he must have done some magic to make it so; though what struck me most was the small flickers of green in his blue eyes, they were beautiful.
"You can't die." He then smiled, "I would have no one to vouch for me anymore." He whispered. This took me by surprise. My vouching for him must have actually meant something to him for it to affect him in such a way, though when thinking about it, I may have been the first one to do so in a very long time.
"You deserved the chance, Loki." I shrugged, wincing as the pain was still within my chest, his eyes held the torment that I was now putting him through, probably bringing up bad memories, I needed to bring this to an end, "I'd vouch for you again, you know... even if you don't like me." He chuckled.
"Of course, I like you," He smiled, "I wouldn't save the life of just anyone." The moment the words left his lips I sat myself up, wiping my chest of the dried blood from the knife. I heard no sound from him as I stood myself up, only turning to look at him when I had reconnected my swords to my back. He remained on his knees on the floor, looking up at me incredulously, noting the smirk on my face and trying to stop one coming to his own. "You weren't really dying?"
"Oh no, it takes a lot to kill me." I waved my hand dismissively, letting a smile grow on my face. It was only a second before he had gotten to his feet, placing his hand firmly around my neck and pushing me back against a wall.
"Not anyone can trick me." He growled, his voice hinting a slight tease. I smiled in his grasp, slowly raising my core temperature, and simply watching his eyes to see when he would notice. His hand gripped a little tighter and his eyes squinted, waiting as long as he possibly could before removing his hand in pain, blowing on it when he did.
"And not anyone can threaten me, your majesty." I smiled, "Time to go." I then suggested, turning away from him, and exiting down the corridor. His footsteps were quick to follow, coming to my tail as he sighed.
"So, what's the protocol for leaving? Do we just let the bodies be found?" He then asked, finally asking something about how we did things around here. He really did want to be a part of the team, and in reality, I was certain that he would fit in quite well. I smiled again, turning to him once we were facing the exit.
"Really Loki? Why do you think Fury sends me on these missions?" I asked, placing my fingertips to the wall. I started walking towards the exit, allowing my fingertips to dance along the wall, setting it alight in their wake. He followed close behind, the both of us only stopping when we were a few metres outside of the building, I looked to him as we relished in the spiralling flames, "Bonfire powers is pretty accurate, honestly." I shrugged, watching his smirk emerge.
-
"I am what some people call a 'mutant'. Nothing gave me my powers; I suppose I've always just hand them." I shrugged, "I burnt down my family home. Killing my family when I was five. I didn't know what I was doing." I didn't know why I suddenly felt the urge to tell Loki my whole life story on the jet ride home, but I think it had something to do with the fact that he had fought for me and with me, and that while he thought I was dying he really did try and make me feel better. "Then there were three foster homes after that that went down in smoke... a similar start up like that one was the only ones who took me in."
"Hydra..." I heard him whisper.
"Yes." I sighed, "But... I didn't need the brainwashing like the Winter Soldier... I did everything I did voluntarily." I coughed, shifting awkwardly. I knew that my story wasn't palatable to normal people, but as Loki wasn't normal and had enough blood on his hands for the both of us, I felt he could be trusted with the truth. "Fury said it was either work for him or be locked up somewhere. So." I shrugged. There was a long moment of silence, one, I assumed, because he wasn't sure as how to respond.
"I was forced into the New York invasion." He then said, breaking through the silence in one swing. "My brother doesn't even know the whole truth." He sighed. I glanced to him, his eyes remained forward, face stoic, "Thanos held me for months, training me to lead the Chitauri, though the training was simply torture and mind games."
"You were being controlled by the mind stone too..." I whispered, more to myself, but he had heard it. He looked to me, eyes soft, nodding. "Wow."
"If I didn't, he would have killed me, destroyed the Earth, and Asgard. I couldn't allow for that." He then sighed, sitting back in his chair, "There, I answered one of your questions. But you only get one." I scoffed.
"I tell you how I killed my family, and you think that answering one question makes up for that?" I bit the inside of my cheek, trying to stop my smile as he nodded. "What will it take for you to open up a bit? If we're to go on all of those missions together you're going to have to at some point." I raised my eyebrows, watching as he tapped his chin.
"I'll tell you what, I'll answer one question each time I save your life." He smirked, "I'm sure I'll have answered all of your questions before the summers end."

Summary: What happens when two of the most emotionally damaged members of the Batfam are tricked into spending quality time together?
OR
Damian and Jason have complicated histories when it comes to family and revenge, but a Father's Day card could help them start to work through it.
____
“You didn’t have to come,” Jason pointed out, trailing his fingers along the wall of greeting cards.
Damian scowled at a New Year’s card with a drawing of Superman on the front being pulled into the air by a balloon over the caption Up, up, and away to a new year! It was infuriatingly nonsensical. Why would the alien need a balloon if he could already fly?
“Pennyworth insisted. And I was under the impression that this was going to be some form of surveillance operation. It seems he didn’t find it necessary to disabuse me of that notion before we left.”
Damian’s eyes narrowed as he recalled the pleased slant to Pennyworth’s mouth as Damian had gotten in Todd’s car. The younger boy had assumed it was because Alfred would get to have the house to himself for the afternoon. Now he suspected a much more nefarious motive.
Jason chuckled. “Played by the old man, huh? Anyone who thinks Bruce is the master manipulator hasn’t met Alfred.”
“Tt. I wonder what I have done to upset him.”
“Hm?” Jason plucked a card from the wall and skimmed it. He chuckled at whatever it said.
“Pennyworth must be fairly irritated to have set this up. Obviously he knows how we feel about each other.”
At that Jason raised an eyebrow, putting the card back in its slot and grabbing another. “Oh yeah?”
“Of course he does.”
“And how do we feel about each other?” There was a subtle lilt in his voice; Damian could see the older boy fighting back a smile.
His jaw clenched. “Stop acting like a fool. You know the status of our relationship.”
“Thought by now you’d realize it’s not an act. I really am just an idiot.”
Damian scrunched his mouth together, but continued with forced calm. Meanwhile a woman pushed her cart past them slowly, clearly eavesdropping as she pretended to examine the envelop options.
“We are colleagues. That is all. Otherwise, we stay out of each other’s way.”
“Right,” Jason agreed as he flipped open yet another card. This one had Green Lantern grinning on the front and saying something that Damian couldn’t see around Jason’s fingers. “Why do you think that is?”
“What?”
“The whole ‘staying out of each other’s way’ thing. Why is it like that with us?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Well, I’ve got actual beef with Bruce, Dick-wing, and Replacement. Or at least, I did. You, on the other hand,” he glanced at Damian now. “What’s your deal?”
“My deal?” Damian echoed incredulously, his voice grating under the strain of keeping it at least somewhat moderated. “Since the moment we met, you have made it abundantly clear that you want no part of me. Most of the time, you refuse to even look in my direction. You set the terms of this relationship, and I have accepted them. That, Todd, is my deal.”
Damian’s face felt hot, and it took more effort than it should have for him to slow his breathing. The nosy woman was openly staring at them now.
Jason blinked at him, his eyebrows arched in surprise, then looked back at the wall of cards. His expression reverted into something smooth and inscrutable, but his ears had gone red.
“Hm,” was all he said in response, exchanging the card in his hands for yet another.
Damian, on the other hand, felt as if his head might pop, and Jason’s lack of reaction was only making it worse. Now on top of being inexplicably angry, he was also embarrassed. Compared to Jason’s calm, he looked like a child throwing a tantrum in a store.
He was also embarrassed that Alfred had tricked him into coming here for a reason he apparently did not understand, and that Damian had also apparently misinterpreted something about the dynamic between him and Jason. All this time Damian had thought he’d understood the rules of engagement between them. Now it seemed as though he had been mistaken; that fact burned in his stomach like acid.
But Damian knew what he saw. He had not made up the aura of revulsion that had initially wafted off of Todd in waves whenever Damian had come around. He had not imagined the surreptitious glances of rage or disgust, the loaded silences between them. And he would not let Todd try to make him think that he had. As if all this time he’d been playing make-believe like some foolish child.
“What are you even doing?” Damian spit. For the first time, he noticed that Jason was looking at Father’s Day cards.
The older boy offered a delayed and distracted, “What?”
“What are you doing?” Damian repeated slowly, emphasizing each word.
Jason looked at the card in his hands before looking back at Damian, the blush in his ears intensifying. There was an edge in his voice when he retorted, “What’s it look like?”
“It looks like you’re browsing Father’s Day cards, which is odd seeing as how you don’t have one.”
Jason recoiled, and Damian relished the wild fury that flared in his eyes – the break in his vexing calm. The younger boy found himself bracing for a physical attack; the others would never be so reckless in public, but from what he’d seen of Todd, this boy was careless and unpredictable enough to launch into an all-out assault right here in the pharmacy.
But then the fury faded into something barely restrained, and he muttered,“You’re lucky you’re still just a brat and that I don’t pummel children.”
“I am not a child,” Damian snarled, trying not to cringe at how utterly childish that response sounded on his lips.
“You’re an infant. And I’m sick of looking at you. Go wait in the car.”
Although he wanted nothing more than to do just that, part of Damian despised the fact that it would now look like he was taking orders. He stood there, weighing his dignity against his overwhelming desire to be elsewhere, until he caught the flash of ire in Todd’s eyes again and decided that the consequences of his defiance would not be worth whatever satisfaction he might glean from it.
He stalked out of the pharmacy, ignoring an employee’s too-bubbly farewell as he slammed open the door and marched toward the old, definitely-stolen Jeep in the lot. It wasn’t until he yanked on the locked passenger door that he realized he’d forgotten to get the keys, and he threw his head back and screamed a curse that would have turned Alfred to stone.
There was no way he was going back inside now, so he found himself sitting on the curb, his arms crossed tightly around his knees as he glared at the asphalt.
A few minutes later, he heard the chime over the door, then the crunch and shuffle of boots on pavement followed by the sound of the car doors unlocking. He got in without a word and glowered straight ahead.
Beside him, Todd got in empty-handed and started the car, but they didn’t move right away. The following silence felt like a precursor to something, and Damian was glad he hadn’t yet put his seatbelt on. Adrenaline bubbling up in his chest, he slid his hand over to unlock his door, ready to make a quick exit.
At last, he chanced a glance in the older boy’s direction, expecting to find unbridled fury and perhaps even murderous intent. While Todd did still looked incensed, his unnaturally green eyes burning a hole in the windshield, he also looked oddly wounded and confused. The expression was enough to distract Damian from his escape plan, and he paused with his hand on the plastic nub of the lock.
Jason muttered something, and Damian asked, “What?”
“I said ‘I don’t hate you.’ I mean, I do – I did. But it was never personal.”
“That doesn’t make any–”
“Would you just shut up? I know, okay? I know it doesn’t make sense. Just let me–” Jason exhaled loudly, running his hand over his face as he tipped his head back into the seat.
When he spoke again, it was with his eyes closed and his hand still resting over his mouth. “I’m trying to communicate. Just work with me, all right?”
“Tt.” But Damian fell silent, allowing the older boy to continue.
Jason at last let his hand drop, his eyes slipping open so that he was staring at the stained and scuffed cream-colored ceiling. “When I first met Tim, it was like I’d been punched in the face. I don’t know how much you know about me and my… history, but even when I was Robin, Bruce and I never completely agreed on how we should handle things. We got along most of the time, but we argued a lot. He thought I was too aggressive, I thought he was too soft. He thought I was impulsive and reckless, I thought he had a stick up his ass.”
He paused. “Butt. Don’t tell Alfred I cursed in front of you. Anyways, we were just so different. The poor kid from Crime Alley and the billionaire CEO. It shouldn’t have worked, but when it did, it was great. And when it didn’t…”
Todd paused again, his gaze becoming distant and… pained, Damian thought. Not a sharp, lancing pain, but something dull, like an old bruise.
“Then I died and I came back and there’s this new kid– the new Robin. For some reason, I’d gotten it in my head that Bruce would just retire the role all together after me. As if he cared enough to do something like that.”
He smirked, but there wasn’t an ounce of joy in it; it was a sour twist of his mouth that reminded Damian of poison.
“So, there he was. Robin 3.0. And he was good. Like really good. I was a good Robin, Dick was a good Robin, but Replacement.” Todd shook his head in rueful appreciation. “The kid is a genius. He’s like a mini-Bruce. Even Dick was never like that. Apparently he even figured out the whole secret on his own when he was like fourteen or something?”
“Thirteen,” Damian corrected quietly. He, too, often found himself impressed by Drake’s mental acumen, even if he’d never admit it aloud. Damian was sharp, but he’d had to work for years to get like that; for Drake, it just came naturally. Watching him solve a puzzle was like watching a prodigy at their craft. There were connections that Drake could make that Damian knew he never could, no matter how many years of training he got under his belt.
“What are you getting at?” he asked, perhaps more sharply than he’d meant to.
“I’m saying, that when I first met Tim, I hated him. Like really, genuinely hated him. But it wasn’t him that I was pissed at. It was what he was. He was everything I never was and could never be.”
“Smart?” As soon as Damian said it, he regretted it. He could never figure out why he was like this, always throwing barbs even when he didn’t really want to. It was like a reflex, and he again braced for the equally reflexive response he expected from Todd.
Instead, the older boy barked a laugh. The sound was as genuine as it was sad.
“Yeah, that. But mostly, when I saw him I saw someone who was more like a son to Bruce than I ever was. And a way better Robin. They just fit together. Rich kid to rich kid. Like puzzle pieces. Then I met you. My worst effin’ nightmare.”
Damian bristled. “What do you mean?” he demanded.
“I hated Tim because he was like Bruce’s actual son. How do you think I felt about you?”
Any quick retort died in the younger boy’s throat. He swallowed and frowned at the glove compartment. “I fail to see how my biological relation to Father has anything to do with you.”
Jason sighed. “It doesn’t. It shouldn’t. But I look at you and Tim and even Dick and all I can think is, ‘I bet Bruce would kill for them.’”
He chuckled wryly. “Jesus, it sounds even more effed up out loud.”
And again, he lapsed into a heavy silence, this one so cold and absolute that Damian hardly dared to breathe.
After some time, when it was beginning to feel as if Jason wouldn’t speak again, Damian cleared his throat and said, “Obviously, I was not there when you had your… incident.”
Jason scoffed, perhaps at Damian’s choice of words, and it rankled him, but Damian continued as if he hadn’t noticed.
“But I have heard stories from that time, and the time shortly after. From what I understand, your death was not insignificant. It nearly killed him.”
Jason seemed to be working hard to maintain his sardonic grin; he was failing. “Is that what they told you?”
“It’s what I’ve gleaned. And after living with Father for several years, I don’t doubt that it’s true.”
“Tell me something,” Jason said, his eyes searching Damian’s thoughtfully. Any trace of humor, false or otherwise, was gone from his expression. “If someone killed you tonight, what would Talia do?”
Damian stiffened but said nothing. He knew the answer and he knew that Todd knew as well. His mother would be enraged by his failure, for certain. She would talk grandly about how Damian was no longer her concern since he’d chosen to be with Father, but the same day she would unleash utter destruction upon everyone responsible. She would lay waste to them and their families and salt the earth at her feet. His killer would know the full wrath of the League of Shadows, and the last thing they would see would be the tip of his mother’s blade.
Damian knew this implicitly, but the knowledge did not inspire any feelings of love in him the way Jason apparently suspected. The younger boy did not feel flattered by this assurance. If anything, it made him sick.
“Father does not grieve in blood,” Damian said at last, swallowing against the dryness in his throat. “He isn’t like us.” Damian didn’t know if us meant himself and the League of Shadows, or him and Jason. Perhaps both.
He’s better, is what he wanted to add, but instead Damian continued, “And vengeance is not always love.”
He thought again of his mother. The same woman who would wage a war on his behalf had also nearly killed him dozens of times herself. The fact that both of these things could be true at once still made his head spin.
Jason gazed out the windshield for a moment before offering a simple, “Hm.” It would have sounded dismissive, but Damian could see the consideration in his eyes.
Outside, the sun was tipping into late afternoon, and shadows were creeping longer and longer across the ground. Damian watched two birds dance together in the air. At first it looked like they were fighting, but then they landed side by side on a powerline, so close their wings were nearly touching.
His finger worried at the plastic lock as he built up his nerve.
“I don’t hate you either,” he offered, and he was grateful that his umber complexion a least somewhat camouflaged any flush that might be creeping into his face. Even staring out his window, he felt Jason’s eyes on him.
“You should.”
“I don’t.” He took a breath. “Where I come from, love is earned. Every day you must prove yourself worthy of it and every day is another opportunity to lose it. The slightest failure could cost you everything.”
He forced himself to continue quickly, outpacing the memories he felt rushing to meet him. “That is the mindset I arrived in Gotham with. My first few years with Father were marked by that conviction. It made sense to me. Dick and Tim are worthy combatants. I understood why Father would offer them his affection. But you… All I knew of you was that you had failed.”
At that, Damian’s head swiveled to look at Jason, realizing too late how his words must have sounded. The older boy was rigid, but he didn’t look angry.
“I didn’t mean–”
“I get it. It’s okay.”
“No,” Damian insisted sternly. “It is not. I was raised to believe that to die in battle was the ultimate failure. But that was wrong. Like much of what I learned back then.”
When Jason didn’t say anything, Damian continued, “I heard stories about how you were when you first returned. How you hurt Father and the others over and over again. I know about Father’s attempts to reach out to you and how you turned your back on him for years.”
Damian could feel the temperature around Jason dropping, as if the older boy was turning to ice at Damian’s side, but he continued, feeling now as if he couldn’t stop even if he wanted to. The words flowed out of him, unfiltered and unrelenting.
“Your grievances against him were so numerous and severe, it didn’t make sense to me that he would still love you. And yet he did.
“Meanwhile, I live in constant fear that I will inevitably prove them right. That I’m not worthy of…” Damian’s nail carved into the hard plastic of the car lock as the words hitched and stuck in his throat. He swallowed.
“Who?” Jason asked quietly.
“What?”
“Prove who right?”
My mother. My grandfather.
Everyone.
Me.
“That’s not the point,” Damian answered. “I resented you and your unearned love and and how absolutely oblivious you seemed to be to that blessing. Even now, it is clear to me that you fail to recognize how fortunate you are.”
A few years ago, Damian would not have been able to say this without lacing the words with venom. Now he was able to say them plainly, though something in the center of his chest still ached.
“You know it’s not like that with you, though, right?” Jason confirmed. “That whole earning and losing love thing– Bruce would never make you do that. You’re his son.”
“As are you.” Damian forced himself to look Jason dead in the eye then, and Jason held the gaze for a beat before looking away, his ears once again going red.
“You do not see the way Father looks at you,” he explained. “It is like a blind man seeing the sun for the first time.”
Jason was speechless for a second before muttering, “Whatever you say, kid,” as he put his hands on the wheel and backed out of the parking spot. When they hit the road, the older boy switched on the radio, and Damian was grateful for the blanket of sound to quell any further discussion.
He sunk into the seat then, oddly exhausted, and turned around in time to watch as the two birds on the wire took off towards the clouds.
*********
“Just admit it. You killed him, didn’t you?” Tim asked, leaning back on the rear legs of his chair. “You finished the job.”
Damian’s eyes flicked up from his book to glare at the boy across the kitchen table. This particular joke had been going on for over two weeks, and while Tim’s attempts at humor were never amusing, this one was particularly grating since it also managed to twist Damian’s guts into guilty knots.
No one had seen or heard from Jason since he had returned Damian to the manor after their disastrous pharmacy outing, and now all the younger boy could think about was everything he had done wrong. He never should have been so transparent; he never should have been so cruel. In retrospect, he could concede at least that much.
Damian typically preferred to apologize with his actions rather than explicit words, and he’d thought that he had managed to convey that while he and Jason were in the car together, but perhaps the older boy had not seen it that way. Perhaps he’d been waiting for a formal apology, and now that so much time had elapse, they had finally fallen below even the status of colleagues – not quite enemies, but certainly no longer allies.
Damian straightened in his seat, setting his shoulders. If that was the case, then so be it. He was the last person who would ever weep over a burned bridge. The loss would be inconvenient – Todd had proven himself a useful aid in the field at times – but it was not as if they had ever been particularly close or worked together often. If Todd wanted to move on, then Damian would do the same.
He returned his attention to his book, but after a few seconds of rereading the same sentence over and over, he slapped it on the table with a frustrated sigh and took a sip of his lukewarm tea.
There was distant knock at the front door followed by some muffled conversation between Alfred and whoever the other person was. A moment later, Damian shouted as a plastic bag rocketed into the side of his head and fell to the floor. He whirled toward the source, but all of his rage evaporated into blank shock when he saw Todd leaning in the doorway, a fading bruise on his cheek and a butterfly bandage over his eye.
“You like those, right?” he asked.
Damian blinked down at the bag on the floor. Reese’s cups.
He nodded.
“Good. You and I are patrolling together tonight, got it?” Jason’s tone was decisive, leaving little room for disagreement. Two weeks ago Damian would have bristled at it, but for once, he felt he was reading the older boy correctly, and for all Jason’s gruffness, Damian was certain that this was not an order, but a request.
He nodded again, and Todd’s mouth twitched at the side.
“Wait, you disappear for two weeks and come back with free candy?” Tim exclaimed. “Where’s mine?”
“Get your own, Replacement,” Jason shot back, disappearing back through the door and shouting, “Bruce! C’mon, I wanna kick your ass in pool. Sorry, Alfred…”
Damian ignored Tim’s dumbfounded stare as he bent to pick the candy up off the tile. His chest suddenly felt warm and buoyant, and he lingered out of sight below the table for a second longer than necessary as his lips curled into a tiny smile.

Captain The Retired Police Dog Part 6 (Final)
BookwormFairy: Sorry for taking so long, but I'm here with the final part of Captain the Retired Police Dog. I just wanted to thank everyone who've read, like, reblogged, commented, and wrote their own stuff with Captain. When I first started this I had no idea how big ot would get. I will be doing more stuff with Captain, but this is the end of this story. Thank y'all so much for accepting both me and Captain into the fandom.
-------------------------
The rest of the trip was like a dream for Marinette
Every chance they got Marinette and Damian would spend time with eachother
And after Ace met Captain she would come along on all of their outings as well
Damian would take Marinette every where in Gotham
From the fashion district to the zoo Damian made sure Marinette didn't miss out on anything
They couldn't explain it, but something just clicked with them
It was like they were meant to be
Damian even met Marinette's parents
Kinda
He video chatted with them and was actually invited over during the summer
Which he whole heartedly accepted but warned the bakers that his family might "unexpectedly" show up with him.
Only to be told that they would be more then happy to meet them as well
Basically Damian took up all of Marinette's free time
Though sometimes, much to Damian's annoyance, the other batboys would come and "kidnap" Marinette and Captain and take them back to the manor.
Marinette didn't mind it so much, except when they didn't even wait for her to get back to the hotel
When the class was done touring Luxcorp, Jason rode up on his motorcycle and took Marinette and Captain
Jason picking up Marinette and grabbing Captain's leash: Hey French people I'm taking her and her dog. Bye
Ms. Bustier: Are you okay with that Marinette?
Marinette: Yeah I know him
Ms. Bustier: Okay have fun
Jason was less then impressed with the teacher's response but took the duo anyway
Another time Tim hacked into the schedule and change the bus route to drop Marinette off at Wayne Tower
Then Dick feeling left out did the responsible (and legal) way and called Marinette's parents to get their permission to take Marinette back to the manor.
Damian was not impressed with his brothers
Neither was Bruce
On the outside at least
On the inside he was so happy to see Marinette and Captain again
Captain wasn't sure how to respond to these strange new people in his and his girl's lives
After a couple of days they did grow on him
But he still didn't let Jason pet him
Mostly because Captain found the older boy's attempts hilarious
And his girl seemed to blossom in this new pack
Captain could see that the spark that he brought back into his girl's eye turn into a whole galaxy
She was almost always smiling and laughing now
To top it all off Alix and Kim finally pulled up their big kid briches and tried to reconnect with Marinette
At first Marinette was very weary of them
And Captain out right growled at them
But slowly they were able to earn Marinette's trust back
Not enough to be able to come on Marinette's adventures with her, but enough so that Marinette would seek them out when stuck with the class
And they would seek her out
Not even Lila could bring her down
And she tried
On this trip alone Lila has stolen several of Marinette's projects, tried to get her sent home with no success, has tried to get Captain detained, and has even tried to lock Marinette in several closets throughout the city, but Marinette somehow always got out.
All in all Lila was harmless
Until the last night of the trip when Lila went too far
Damian had tagged along with the class on their finally outing in Gotham
They went to a teens club somewhere near crime alley
Which is why Damian was with them
They made sure to leave the dogs with Alfred so he could take them back to the manor.
The night was going great
Marinette spent the night dancing with Damian, Alix, and Kim
But mostly Damian
Everything was perfect
So of course Lila had to open her big fat mouth
Lila: Oh yeah I've helped super heroes all over the world. I've even helped Batman put away a few rogues.
Villian kid (Edwin) near by: Oh really who?
Lila: You know all the big guys the Riddler, the Penguin, Two-Face,
Edwin: Hm, the Riddler.....
Lila: Yeah he's not so tough.
Lila continue to bad mouth the Riddler as Edwin called his dad to tell him all about this little, french goody goody who helped but him in Jail.
Riddler over the phone: What an interesting development, I wonder if she would like to play a game? *evil laugh*
Marinette slow dancing with Damian: This has been a great night
Damian: I have to agree with you there Angel. *Damian nuzzles Marinette's hair* I don't know what I'm going to do when you leave.
Marinette: I don't either, but I know I never want this to end.
Damian: Even with my annoying brothers
Marinette: Partially because of your annoying brothers. You know I'm an only child, but I always wished I had siblings, so they're like the brothers I never had.
Damian chuckling: don't let them hear you say that. You'll never get rid of them.
Marinette: Who said I would want to. Especially with how close Captain, Ace, and Titus has become. We'll have to fly out to eachother just so they can see eachother again.
Damian smirking: oh most definitely we be terrible pet owners if we didn't
Marinette catching on: You are so right. You'll be coming to Paris during the summer so I guess I'll be coming back to Gotham during the winter.
Damian pulling Marinette closer even though it didn't seem possible: That's not soon enough.
Alix: Hey love birds you do realize that the slow song ended 2 songs ago right?
Damian glared at the pink hair girl as Marinette backed up slightly blushing
Kim: I don't think they did Alix. How cute?
Damian: Yeah yeah let's go get something to drink.
As the small group made their way towards the bar
But before they could reach it chaos erupted in the club
Teenagers were running towards the exit trying to get away from something the group couldn't see
Somehow in the made dash out Marinette was separated from Alix, Kim, and Damian as they got pushed out of the club, but Marinette was pushed further in the club and gets corralled by a group of minions dressed in green
She scanned around the group of teens that were left seeing that all her classmates made it out except for Lila who was standing in the front of the group, but was trying to get behind the frightened teens
Marinette ended up standing next to her facing on of the famous rogues of Gotham the Riddler
Riddler: Hello kitties so sorry to interrupt your night out, but I heard one of you tattletells are the reason I was thrown back in that hellhole we call a prison so I'll give the little pest a chance to step up and we'll play a little game if they win you will all be let go and the pest will die, if they lose, well you all die. Either way that person dies so come on speak up or should I just kill everybody right now.
Lila without a second thought: It was her Marinette!
Marinette: What?!?!
Lila: Yeah it is all her she was the one who was bad mouthing you.
Marinette whispering to Lila: I knew you were mean Lila, but this is just pure evil
Lila smirking at Marinette: Why so shocked Dupen-Cheng? I know you, you wouldn't put innocent lives in danger so there's no way you'll deny it and this way I can get rid of you for good.
Marinette continued to glare at the evil girl as she was pulled up towards the Riddler
Riddler: Well aren't you a little cutie. Is what the loud mouth said true are you to person who helped put me in jail?
Marinette through clenched teeth: Yes
Riddler: Well here's the game goody goody I'm going to tell you a riddle and if you answer correctly we're going to play a game of Russian rullet *Riddler holds up an old revolver* you might get killed, you might not, but if you get on wrong then you get shot with this *Riddler holds up a newer hand gun* instant death. Are you ready?
Marinette trying to hide her fear: Yes
Riddler: Oh what a brave little girl. What is full of holes. But still holds water?
Marinette a little surprised by how easy the riddle was: A spongue
Riddler holding the old gun to Marinette's forehead: Correct
Riddler pulls the trigger as Marinette flinches but only a click is heard
Riddler: Well you live for another riddle. What can you break without picking it up or touching it?
Marinette: A promise
Riddler : Correct again
Riddler repeated the process and got the same result
This process continued for another 10 minutes and both Marinette and the Riddler were starting to get annoyed
Marinette because the riddles were to easy and Riddler because she wasn't dead yet
It should be impossible for her to be still alive
The gun did not have this many rounds
Riddler growling: Okay, Jim and Kate go to the zoo and get eaten by the sea lions but nobody freaks out, why?
Marinette rolling her eyes: Now you just stealing riddles from TheOdd1sout. They're both fish.
As Marinette answers she hears a loud crashing sound
Riddler and his goons look up at the noice and Marinette takes the opportunity to escape
She swiftly pulls Riddler's belt off him causing his pants to fall
She then uses the belt to knock both the guns out of his hands the wrapping the belt around of one of his hands flips over his shoulder grabs his other arm and tie them behind his back using the belt
To add insult to injury she kicks him in the back of his knees bringing him completely down
As Marinette looks up she sees the goons being tied up by Batman and his sidekicks all with shocked looks on their faces
In fact everybody was completely shocked by what Marinette just did
Though unnoticed by her Robin's shocked faced soon turned into a lovesick smile
That's his girl
Batman walking up to Marinette: Good job civilian, we'll take it from here, there are some people waiting outside for you.
Marinette: Thank you Batman
Marinette and the rest of the captured teenagers ran out of the club as soon as possible
They were so busy trying to get away from the trauma they just experienced nobody notice Robin slipping away trying to meet his Angel up front
As Marinette made it out she was bombarded by police officers and camera flashes from reporters
Gordan: Okay boys break it up I'll take this one
Gordon wrapped his arm around the young girl who reminded him of his daughter
Gordon: I know you've been through a lot tonight but can you please tell me what happened?
Marinette nodded her head going over everything that happened including what Lila said to her
Gordon was shocked by what Marinette told him both about how she took down the Riddler and how Lila basically tried to kill her
Gordon: Okay thank you, you go over to your friends while me and my officers gather more information.
Gordon pointed her towards Alix and Kim
As she runs towards her friends she was engulfed in a group hug
Marinette pulling back from the hug: Are you guys okay? You're not hurt are you? Where's Damian? Is he okay?
Kim chuckling: Classic Marinette worrying about others instead of her self
Alix: We're fine Marinette. We got out pretty quickly but we got separated from Damian in the mad rush
Marinette got a worried look on her face as she started twisting around searching for the man she loved
Damian bursting through the crowd: ANGEL!
Marinette running towards Damian: DAMI!
The young lovers ran to eachother embracing eachother in a long hug
Marinette buried her head in his chest letting out a sob as everything caught up with her.
Damian burying his face in her hair: Shh Angel everything's okay now. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there for you. I should have never let go of you
Marinette sniffling into Damian's chest: It's not your fault Damian you had no control of our separation
Damian: I still should have tried harder to stay with you.
The two stayed together refusing to let eachother go afraid that if they did so the other would be lost
They stood there for 30 minutes just hugging eachother as Kim and Alix joined them trying to cheer Marinette up
Gordon walking up to the small group: Several other people collaborated with your story. Ms. Rossi will be takened to the French embassy to be held until your classes flight back to Paris tomorrow we just need to know if you want to press charges?
Damian angry: Of course she'll want to press charges! That girl tried to have her killed!
Marinette softly: I'll handle this Damian. *Marinette turns around to face Comissioner Gordon with Damian's arms still wrapped around her* I would like to press charges Mr. Gordon this has gone on too long, I would also like to look into getting a restraining order on her.
Gordon: of course, we'll make sure that Paris police force understand what happened and your request.
Marinette: Thank you
Ms. Bustier yelling: Okay everybody time to head back to the hotel.
Gordon: Wait one moment Miss but Ms. Rossi is going to be retained at the French embassy for attempted manslaughter of Ms. Dupen-Cheng
Alya: What? Is that what Marinette told you? You shouldn't listen to her she's nothing but a liar.
Gordon: Actually we're doing that not only on Ms. Dupen-Cheng's testimony of events but several other witnesses who heard and saw Ms. Rossi threaten and admit she was trying to get Marinette killed and we also have video from the security cameras showing the same thing. Boys take her away!
Lila most certainly did not go quietly she was yelling all the way to the police cruiser threatening that as soon as she was back in Paris she will be Akumatize and finish the job that Riddler couldn't
Marinette watched terrified as Lila was taken away knowing very well that she would keep her promise if given the chance
Damian tightened his hold on Marinette trying to comfort her: Dont worry Angel I won't let her do anything to you
Marinette pressed herself to Damian trying to get as much comfort from him as possible.
Ms. Bustier grabbing Marinette's arm: Come on Marinette it's time to go.
Marinette looked over at her classmates seeing the murderous glares directed towards her from some of Lila's more dedicated followers
Marinette: I don't want to go back to the hotel Ms. Bustier
Ms. Bustier sighing: Please don't be difficult Marinette. You've already caused enough trouble tonight just get on the bus before you ruin the night for everybody else
Damian: EXCUSE ME! ARE YOU-
Marinette: I'VE CAUSED ENOUGH PROBLEMS?!?!? ALL I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO IS NOT CAUSE PROBLEMS!! AND IT'S NEVER ENOUGH! WELL I'M TIRED OF BEING YOUR PERFECT EXAMPLE! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH PRESSURE THAT PUTS ON MY SHOULDERS! IT'S YOUR JOB TO TEACH YOUR STUDENTS TO BE BETTER PEOPLE NOT MINE! AS SOON AS WE'RE BACK IN PARIS I'M DONE! I'M TRANSFERING FROM YOU CLASS HELL I'M GOING TO TRANSFER TO A DIFFERENT SCHOOL IF I CAN BECAUSE I AM SO DONE! I'M DONE WITH THE BULLYING, I'M DONE WITH THE PRESSURE, AND MOST OF ALL I'M DONE WITH YOUR PACIFIST BULLSHIT!
Marinette was huffing from her outburst finally letting everything out after such a long time.
Marinette could her some clapping throughout the crowd but ignored it turning her attention to Damian.
Marinette: Do you mind if I stay at the Manor tonight?
Damian: Of course Marinette let me call Alfred to come get us and I'll escort you to your hotel room so you can gather your stuff
Marinette: Thank you
After a couple of minutes not only did Alfred show up, but so does Tim, Jason, and Dick
All ready to to kick ass and take names of anybody who even dare look at her the wrong way.
When they got to the hotel they surrounded her like a wall blocking her from reporters and classmates
Marinette gathered her stuff as fast as she could thanking herself for being smart and packing ahead of time
Once they got back to the Manor Captain tackled Marinette
Licking and cuddling into her trying to comfort his girl
He couldn't believe he let her be put in so much danger
He should have never let her out of his sight while is such a dangerous city
Captain let out a whimper trying to convey how sorry he was
Marinette: It's okay Captain I'm fine, I'm safe and everything is going to be fine better than before even.
Captain still stayed close to her side
Titus and Ace did also sensing the distress rolling of the girl followed her
As Marinette slipped into the bathroom she was finally able to comfort and thank Tikki for saving her life by using her power to make sure the bullet never got shot
And also promised to slip some cookies to her as soon as she could
After getting a good hug from each of the Wayne's and Marinette grabbing some cookies for Tikki she made her way to her guest room just wanting this night to be over.
When the Batfam was sure Marinette was in for the night they made their way down to the batcave to discuss what happened
Damian: Father if you think I'm going to let Marinette out of my sight after what happened tonight you're crazy
Bruce: Think this through Damian smothering isn't going to make her any safer it's just going to make her resent you.
Jason: I dont like it anymore than you do Demon Spawn but he's right. You can't hover over Marinette her whole life, but we do need to look into what's going on in Paris more.
Dick: You're right Jason, Rossi was saying something about being Akumatized and killing Marinette that can't be good.
Bruce: Your right Dick. So when Damian goes to Paris in a couple of weeks we'll come along and assess the situation and see if we need to step in
Damian: If Marinette gets even a scratch on her I'm going to do more than just step in I'm going to find whoever responsible and dual them to the pain
Tim: Did you just quote Princess Bride
Damian: I watched it with Marinette a couple of days ago
The rest of the batfam: Awwww
Dick, Jason, and Tim giving Brice a weird look
Bruce: Don't judge me
Marinette tried her best to fall asleep that night cuddling up to Captain but she jus couldn't
When the clock showed it was 1am Marinette decided to seek out Damian
Marinette: Captain? *perked up and looked at his girl* Can you please help me find Damian?
Captain jumped off the bed and headed to the door
Before Marinette opened the door she turned towards Tikki
Marinette: Tikki I'm going to go see if I can sleep with Damian do you want to come with or stay here?
Tikki: I'll stay here Marinette. I don't want you stressing about keeping me hidden tonight
Marinette: Okay Tikki good night.
Marinette followed Captain down a couple of doors before they stopped in front of the door
Marinette knocked on the door and after a couple of minutes Damian opened the door looking a little ruffled from sleep
Marinette: Sorry to wake you Damian, but can I please sleep with you tonight
Damian: Of course Angel come on
Damian and Marinette settled into Damian's bed seeming to fit together perfectly as Marinette rested her head on Damian's chest and he wraps his arms around her keeping her close
Captain made himself comfortable next to Titus but also lays across the young couple's legs
The next day Lila was sent on a later flight back the Fance to a town outside of Paris so that she wouldn't be akumatized by Hawkmoth and she can face the consequences of her crimes
Marinette shared a long goodbye with the Wayne's in the airport
They were nice enough to upgrade Marinette's seat to first class and even got Captain a seat so he didn't have to stay in the cargo hold
And as Marinette said her goodbyes to the people who've became her second (or third is you count Jagged, Penny, and Clara) family Captain was saying goodbye to Titus and Ace
Captain: I'm going to miss you guys so much you have become my pack and I wish I could take you with me
Titus: And I wish you could stay, I love you
Titus gave Captain a big lick to the side of his face
Captain: Thanks Titus, I... love you too
Titus: I'm going to cry
Ace giggling: Thanks for that Titus
Ace nuzzling Captain's neck: I love you Captain I wish we can stay together.
Captain nuzzling her back: I wish I could to your my mate and I hate to be away from you for so long, but my girl needs me, but I heard our humans talking and they do plan to visit eachother again so we will be together again. One day permanently I can tell.
As the girl and her dog boarded the plane they may be leaving their loves behind today but it won't be forever
Thanks to this trip Marinette is a stronger person, and Captain learned to be a little softer
As Kim pass he tried to give Captain a pat on the head only for Captain to give him a little growl before he could
Like I said he learned to be a LITTLE softer
Tumblr media
Bonus
2 weeks after returning from Paris Marinette recieved a very interesting call from Damian
Damian: Hey Angel weird question but is Captain fixed
Marinette: Oh no, after everything that happened to him it just seemed cruel to do that to him too. Why?
Damian: Because Ace is pregnant Captain is the only one who could be the father
Marinette shocked: What?
Marinette looking at Captain: You little hound dog.
Captain: What?

All In
Bucky x reader x Steve x Sam
Notes: Bucky did not kill Tony’s parents. Civil War did not happen.
Steve had met Bucky in the forties. The two knew they were soul mates when Steve broke his arm and Bucky was suddenly sporting the same injury. Of course, they had to keep it a secret. Soul mates or not for the time their relationship was incredibly taboo.
Sam and Y/N met in 2010 after a friend had introduced them. They knew they were soul mates when Sam slashed his arm when attempting to assemble his wings and Y/N got a matching cut. In 2010 they had nothing to hide.
In 2014 you and Sam were on a run when you tripped over an uneven part of concrete. You weren’t injured apart from some skinned knees which Sam hissed about.
“You just had to trip.” He sighed, helping you up.
“Oh shut up.” You rolled your eyes fondly. “You could be sympathetic to the uncoordinated.”
“It doesn’t hurt that bad.” A blonde man said, jogging over to the two of you, his knees freshly skinned.
If you and Sam were shocked at having another soul mate, you both damn near passed out when you learned of Steve’s first soul mate. You’d only heard stories of multiple people sharing soul mates, but you never thought they were real, until that day.
It was another year before Steve was reunited with Bucky and you and Sam finally got to meet your fourth.
2015
“What’s taking Steve so long?” You wondered aloud, watching Sam move around the kitchen.
“He has a meeting with Fury and Natasha.” Sam reminded you. “And then he is going to pick up dessert.”
“Hopefully it’s something caramel filled.” You groaned, leaning back on the couch before letting out a yelp. “Jesus, Sam.” You said, applying pressure to your bleeding hand.
“It’s not like I did it on purpose.” He said, applying pressure to his own hand.
“Let’s get you cleaned up.” You said, moving into the kitchen and grabbing the first aid kit. “Steve’s going to give you a lecture on being more careful now.”
“I thought that lecture was just for you, you klutz.” He chuckled before hissing as you pressed down on his wound. “I mean I love you and you’re perfect.”
“That’s what I thought you said.” You smirked and finished bandaging his hand.
“Which one of you did it?” Steve yelled as he entered the house.
“Bird brain did it.” You responded as Sam wrapped your hand. “Come to the kitchen and I’ll fix you up.”
“Can you fix someone else up as well?” Steve questioned as he entered the kitchen with a long-haired brunette beside him. A brunette with a bleeding hand.
“Of course.” You smiled. “Nice to finally meet you, Bucky.”

Non-reader POV
“Hey, are you still coming with me today?” Natasha asked, entering Tony’s kitchen behind Pepper.
“Aunty Nat!” Morgan exclaimed, rushing over to the red head. “I missed you.” She said once she was in Natasha’s arms.
“I missed you too, kolibri.” Natasha said, pressing her lips to the girl’s temple. “So, are you coming?” She repeated, turning to the man.
“Don’t hit me when I ask this, but, where are we going?” Tony asked, pouring his wife a cup of coffee.
“We planned to go see Y/N and the boys today.” Natasha reminded him. “If you’ve scheduled other things, you don’t have to worry.”
“No, no, it’s fine. I got nothing better to do than see my favorite foursome.” He said. “Do you need me to take Morgan?” He asked his soul mate.
“No, I’ll be fine. Say hi to them for me.” Pepper smiled, taking the young girl out of Natasha’s arms. “Say good bye to Daddy and Aunty Nat.”
“Bye.” Morgan waved.
“How’s everyone settling in at the compound?” Tony asked Natasha as she drove them.
“Pretty well. Bruce and Wanda are working on bringing Vision back and Thor finally worked out a way to contact us.” She said.
“How’s Clint and his family?”
“They’re doing well, they’re all adjusting as well as can be expected but I spoke to Clint last night and he’s just happy to be home. How’s Rhodes?”
“He’s doing pretty great, he finally got Ross off everyone’s ass, so he’s going on vacation.”
“Vacation sounds nice.” Natasha commented with a wistful sigh.
“You know you can go on vacation, right Nat?” Tony asked her. “You’ve done enough Romanoff; you deserve a break.”
“Maybe. Maybe I like being needed.” She smiled. “I remember you having this conversation with them, before it all.”
“Yeah and look at them now, those lucky bitches are retired.”
2017
Tony had thrown another one of his famous parties. The night had been loud and full of drunken people, people no-one really knew. Once the hours became earlier Tony had kicked everyone out except the team.
It was currently three a.m. and everyone was quite intoxicated as they all lounged in various positions.
Y/N was sitting on Bucky’s lap who smiled at her as she fiddled with his hair and Steve had his head on Sam’s shoulder as he laughed at Clint’s story.
“You’re a bigger idiot sometimes than Steve.” Bucky smirked.
“That’s uncalled for, you jerk.” Steve said. Steve had indulged in some of Thor’s mead and everyone had noticed he was acting different, more laid back, more relaxed.
“You love me.” Bucky smiled.
“Not anymore. Only Y/N and Sam get my love.” He said, snuggling into Sam’s side.
“Oh, you’re wasted aren’t you, Stevie?” Sam smiled, playing with the ends of the blonde’s hair.
“Well, I love you Buck.” Y/N said loudly, her own intoxication levels quite high. “Doesn’t matter if Steve doesn’t give you his love, you got mine.” She said, peppering the brunettes face with kisses.
“No, she’s wasted.” Tony laughed. After Steve had introduced Y/N and Sam to the team, Tony had become quick friends with the women and he always found it amusing to watch the women drink.
“You’re drunk more than I have.” The woman slurred, pressing her face into Bucky’s shoulder.
“The difference baby girl, is that this is like water to him.” Sam chuckled. Tony flipped the bird at the man in response.
“Let’s just agree that everyone’s drunk, except Bruce and spider boy, and leave it at that.” Natasha said, shaking her head. “I need a vacation.”
“Hm, a vacation sounds nice.” Bucky hummed, tangling his fingers in Y/N’s hair. “Don’t feel like I’ve had one of those in a century.”
“We could go to the beach, lay water side all day. I could get behind that.” Sam nodded.
“Why don’t you go then?” Tony asked. “Take that vacation, take longer than a vacation. The four of you have done plenty.”
“One day, Tony. We’ll go one day.” Steve said after exchanging looks with each of his soul mates.
2024
“When did you raid a florist?” Tony asked, looking at the back seat which was teaming with different flower arrangements. “Seriously, how did I not notice this before?”
“Because you’re blind. It’s your age.” Natasha smirked.
“Rude. No one else would treat me like this.” He grumbled.
“Yes they would.” She grinned. “Alright let’s do this.” Natasha said as they pulled up.
“Do you need a minute?” Tony asked her.
“Do you?” She fired back with no real fire.
“No I came here with Pepper a couple weeks ago, I got it all out then.” He explained, staring out the front window. “It felt good.”
“I shouldn’t even be here, Tony.” She murmured. “I died on that rock, I accepted it. I shouldn’t be here.”
“We all were rocked by the snap, Nat. Things have happened, things we can’t change.” Tony said. “I’ve been through this before, this feeling of only being alive for a purpose and it’s not real. Steve’s been through, Y/N, Bucky, Sam, me, it happens. And all of us will tell you, you’re alive for you and you only. There is no other reason.”
“You’re right.”
“I wish I were recording that; no-one’ll ever believe me when I say you admitted I was right.” Tony said.
“Shut up.” Natasha laughed, hitting him lightly on the arm. “Alright, let’s actually do this.” She said, unbuckling her seat belt.
2022
Reader POV
“We got really lucky.” You said, running your fingers through Steve’s hair. “And I know you feel guilty about that but this is not a punishment.”
“That’s not what I think at all.” Steve said, looking up at you. “It’s just when I talk to these people and they’re all distraught because they’ve lost families and soul mates, all I can think to myself is; ‘Thank God that’s not me.’ I can’t help but feel guilty.”
“It’s normal to think these kinds of things, to be grateful nothing has happened.” Sam told him, sitting on the bed next to you both. “Everyone in this room has suffered more than we ever should have and we deserve something good.” He said as Bucky sat next to him.
“Steve, you are one of the best men I know. You have worked your ass off to save this country, this world, hell this universe. While not everything you’ve done has turned out the way you wanted, you have saved so many people. You are allowed to feel guilty for those you couldn’t, but you are also allowed to feel grateful for having survived.” Bucky told him.
“I just wish I could do more.” Steve sighed.
“And that’s why we love you.” Sam said, laying down so he was spooning Steve. “Because you are so selfless.”
“Even if it borders on stupidity most of the time.” Bucky added, situating himself behind Sam.
“You always do the right thing, Stevie. We trust you.” You smiled, still playing with his hair.
“I love you three.” Steve murmured. “I don’t know what I’d do without you all.”
“We love you too, Stevie.” You said.
“Till the end of the line, we’re all in.”
2023
“We’re losing, again.” You said, shooting another of Thanos’s men.
In the span of an hour, you’d managed to travel back in time, lost one of your own, gain all the stones and snap everyone back to life. But Thanos had attacked, the building had blown and now you were losing.
Everyone was pinned down or injured in some way, you wondered if you would survive this.
“We’re not going to lose. We’ve fought too hard for this.” Sam grunted.
“Sam you and Steve are too optimistic for your own good.” Bucky chuckled humorlessly.
“Carol’s down.” Steve reported. “Thor’s down.” He added before getting knocked down. You were the only one in the area and while Tony attacked and distracted him you snatched the glove.
“I’ve got the glove.” You said into the coms. “Oh, shit I’ve got the glove.”
“What do we do?” Sam asked as he and Bucky joined your side, Steve struggling over to the three of you.
“I’ve only got one plan, and it doesn’t end well for us.” Steve said, standing beside you all.
“We don’t have any other options so share with the class.” Bucky said, shooting those who were racing towards the four of you.
“Put the glove on, Y/N.” Steve told you, throwing the hammer. “Put the glove on and snap.”
“That’ll kill you three, not just me.” You shook your head. “Think this through Steve.”
“We don’t have another choice.” He told you.
“We’ve done enough. We might make it through this but if we don’t. We’ve done enough.” Sam said.
“It’s your choice, kitten.” Bucky told you. “Whatever you decide we’re all in.”
A loud yell directed your attention back to Thanos. The man had thrown Tony away from him and was staring at the four of you.
“You can’t stop me. I am inevitable.” He yelled before, running towards you. Without another thought you shoved the glove onto your hand. A small cry left your lips as the power coursed through you and your knees buckled.
Sam held onto you as you smirked at the titan.
“And we’re the avengers.” You said before raising your hand high and snapping. All around you people began to disintegrate and you managed to stand long enough to see the purple titan turn to dust before you fell to the ground, all three of your boys around you.
All four of you were touching each other in some way as the team rushed over.
Tilting your head upwards, a small smile twitching the corners of your lips, you used the last of your strength to say;
“I love you. I love all three of you.”
Their murmured responses were the last thing you heard before the world went black.
2 days later
Non-reader POV
After the joint funerals of Steve Rogers, Y/N L/N, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson and Natasha Romanoff, everyone had gone back to Tony’s house. It was there Bruce had volunteered to return the stones.
“Are you ready, big green?” Tony asked, with Peter beside him. The rest of the Avengers and their families nearby.
“As I’ll ever be.” He replied.
“3, 2, 1.” Tony said before sending Bruce back in time. “And returning in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.” He said but Bruce did not reappear.
“Where is he, Mr. Stark?” Peter asked as the billionaire fiddled with the machines.
“I don’t know kid.” Tony replied.
“Tony.” Clint spoke up. “There.” He said, pointing to the lake. Everyone looked to the lake to see Bruce walking back towards them, with a woman beside him.
“The guardian said, four souls were sacrificed and that mine was no longer needed.” Natasha said before any of the stunned people could speak. “He said, they wish us the best for our futures.”
2024
Natasha and Tony stood in front the four gravestones of their family. The flowers Natasha brought covered the surrounding area and provided color that the four would have loved.
Neither said anything as they stood there, Tony’s arm around Natasha’s shoulders and her head resting on his shoulder.
“I wish they could know we’re doing alright.” Natasha murmured after an eternity.
“They know.” Tony assured her. “They all know.” He added, staring at the plaque that laid in front of all their graves.
Bucky Barnes, Y/N L/N, Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, soul mates. Friends. Family. Heroes.

Weekly Meeting
Tumblr media
Hey guys! I am reposting this one because it got taken down because of the pictures I put in here. It violated the guidelines and I apologize for that. I didn’t know that it was already violating the guidelines. So here it is reposted. I just had to repost this because I think this is the first smut I have ever written so it had a sentimental value to me. Hahaha.
Requested by: @arrowswithwifi
Request: “Can I request Steve x Reader where they are dating and the reader wants to rile Steve up during a meeting with the team so she wears a short dress with old fashioned lingerie and Steve notices as he is running the meeting. He finds it more and more difficult as the reader riles him up, ending with smut?”
Warnings: SMUT, Unprotected sex
A/N: I actually love this prompt btw. Thanks for requesting. :) There will be a warning before the smut, so you can stop reading if you’re uncomfortable.
A/N: This event occurred after Avengers: Age of Ultron and before Captain America: Civil War. (So meaning, Clint is retired, Thor is back at Asgard and Bucky is not in the team yet. Sorry Clint/Renner, Thor/Hemsworth and Bucky/Seb fans. :( )
Overview: After a year of dating, you and Steve have finally consummated your relationship last week on your anniversary. Steve was such a gentleman with you and insisted that the both of you waited until marriage. He was traditional as hell and you were always sexually frustrated since he refused to ‘disrespect’ you. You have always told him that it was fine with you but he was very determined to wait until marriage; but when it was your anniversary, all the will power that Steve had in him vanished when you seduced him with vintage lingerie. Turns out, there’s something about you wearing vintage turned him very on. Steve was the best sex you’ve ever had and now that you’ve had him, he was like a drug to you. But after last week, Steve thought he was too rough with you since he was a super soldier after all. He was scared that he had hurt you too much and had vowed never to touch you again. You had told him over and over that he did not hurt you but he refuses to believe it. Determined to convince Steve that he doesn’t hurt you, you figured he needed a little more ‘motivation’. Today, you have been given a solo mission. It was to seduce information out of a dangerous Russian mob boss, but before going on that mission, you first have a meeting with the team. It was time for your weekly reports and found it the perfect time to give him the ‘convincing’ he needed.
“All right is everybody here?” Steve roams his eyes around the room.
Tony gets up from his seat and walks besides Steve, “Let’s make a roll call. Okay everybody, say present when the teacher calls your name. Wanda?” Tony enthusiastically says to the team.
Wanda looks at the team with furrowed brows looking confused whether to answer or not, “Present?”
“Very good.” Tony then diverts his eyes to Nat, “Natasha?”
Natasha let out a sound of non-amusement and rolls her eyes.
“Alright, no gold star for you. Vision?”
Steve cuts Tony off, “Very funny, Tony.”
“(Y/N) is not here yet.” Sam points out.
“I was with her earlier. She said something about prepping for a mission.” Natasha replies as the team looks at Steve for an answer.
Steve raises a hand and gestures dismissively, “Let’s just move on.” He looks at Tony with raised brows, “Tony? If you please?” Steve gestures for Tony to take a seat.
“Sure Cap. Don’t want to steal the attention away from you. People do say I’m a crowd stealer.” Tony adjusts his perfectly tailored suit before sitting down and leaning back in his chair cockily.
Steve chose to ignore Tony’s remark. After years of knowing Tony, ignoring him would always be the best choice.
Steve stood in front of the team, with authority and charisma radiating from him, “Mission reports for the past week states that –”
The door to the meeting room opened and you walked in, making Steve pause and the team look at you. “Sorry I’m late. I had a mission debriefing.” You say to Steve as you enter the room.
He gives you a faint smile, “It’s okay (Y/N), just take a seat.”
Tony straightens in his seat, “So if she’s late it’s fine, but if I’m late I get a lecture on how I’m not taking this seriously? I’m sensing a little bit of favoritism here Cap. Vision, care to analyze?”
“Analysis not required Mr. Stark. It is a possibility that Captain Rogers favors Agent (Y/L/N) because she is his girlfriend.”
Tony looks at Steve triumphantly, “See?”
Steve sighed as he places his hands on his waist, “She had a valid reason Tony.”
“I had a valid reason too.”
Steve furrowed his brows, “Having fallen asleep during your deep tissue massage is not a valid excuse.” He says, making you and the team snicker.
Tony rolls his eyes, “Whatever.” He averts his gaze to you and pretends to cough the words “Teacher’s Pet.”
You ignore Tony and make your way towards the very front seat while loosening the tie of your coat belt. As you reach your designated seat, you take off your coat and slowly sat down revealing your short, tight, black cocktail dress, with your eyes never leaving Steve’s.
Tony whistles, “So that’s the mission you’ve been prepping for. You look good. Doesn’t she look good Dr. Banner?”
Bruce was startled at the mention of his name, “W-why me?” he stuttered.
“You stared at her butt.” Tony says in a straight face.
“W-what? I-I didn’t –”
“You stared at her butt?” Natasha asks Bruce in an amused tone but deep inside she was annoyed.
Bruce shakes his head furiously, “No! I didn’t –”
Tony lets out a laugh, “Relax Doctor, I was just messing with you.” Tony then looks at Sam, “It was really Sam who did.”
Sam chuckles, “Now now Tony, only an idiot would look at a super soldier’s girlfriend like that. And I for one, value my life.”
Steve looks at you for an explanation. You wanted to laugh right now because his reaction was priceless.
“This get-up is part of a mission.” You say to him.
“Ah, a seduction mission.” Nat says in realization. “I miss those days too.”
Steve clears his throat while trying to avoid your gaze. “Let’s just continue.” His voice was already starting to sound hoarse and you tried your best to suppress a smile.
“As I was saying, mission reports for the past week states that the damage control needed was still very high. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s senior officials once again emphasized the need to minimize critical damage. It’s something about cost control.” Steve states and you smile to yourself. He looked handsome standing in front of the team, and it turned you on even more seeing him full of authority.
“Bull—”
“Stark.” Steve says in a warning tone.
Tony purses his lips together, “Stark Industries and Stark Foundations fund the repairs and the hospital bills of the civilians. S.H.I.E.L.D. has no financial obligation whatsoever. They are totally ungrateful. They’re going to be hearing from my lawyers about this.”
“But…” You speak up, getting Steve’s attention as you had hoped. You crossed your right leg over your left making your short dress climb up higher. Steve noticed your actions and couldn’t help but stare at your vintage seamed stockings. When you saw him clench his jaw, you knew you had already succeeded.
“They should give us a little credit since we made a significant improvement.” You continued.
“This is typical of them. They always notice our screw ups but never the success of the missions.” Sam interjects.
You see Steve’s eyes scan your body from your feet, up to your legs, then to your perfectly accented cleavage, lingering on your lips before he reaches your eyes. Teasingly, you wet your lips before biting your lower lip.
Steve can feel the growing bulge inside his pants as he felt the material start to tighten.
“Well, ever since our incident with Ultron, S.H.I.E.L.D. has reasons to keep us on watch. What else did the high officials say Cap?” Natasha asks.
You adjust yourself, purposely bending over a little bit so that Steve could get a quick view of your breasts, on your seat.
“Cap!” Nat says a little louder.
“Earth to Steve, you there?” Sam says.
Steve flinched a little bit and his eyes shot to Sam when he heard his name for the second time.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sorry.” Steve shakes his head in order to focus on the meeting but you were such a damn distraction, he couldn’t remember the rest of the agenda for the meeting.
“So, it’s agreed that we find a way to contact Thor again?” Steve says out of the blue.
A cascade of “What?” emerges from the room.
“Dude, are you high?” Sam asks skeptically as you stifle a laugh.
Steve massages his forehead, “I’m sorry, what were we talking about again?” he gives you a warning look before averting his gaze to the rest of the team. He approaches the table, leans over and places both of his hands down the table. He was trying hard to hide his growing erection and it made you even hornier.
“Damage control on our missions, Cap.” Dr. Banner answers.
“Right, right.” Steve nods, “We just have to do better. Limit the use of powers unless it is really necessary.”
You carefully slid your foot against Steve’s legs, caressing it up and down.
Steve stiffens in his place and you see him swallow a lump in his throat.
“That’s like asking us to crawl when we know how to run.” Tony states but Steve’s attention was not on the meeting anymore.
“Then we better run with caution. Okay, I guess that’s the only agenda for this week. You can all go now.” Steve says hurriedly with a strained expression on his face. He couldn’t take your teasing anymore. He felt that his pants was going to explode.
“Pardon me Captain Rogers but I do believe you said something about Thor.” Vision adds.
“That can wait another time, but for now I’ll have to ask everybody to leave. Meeting’s over.”
“Well guys, you heard the Captain, meeting’s over.” You say while trying to suppress your victorious smile.
The team reluctantly stands up while mumbling ‘okay’ and ‘what the hell just happened?’
“Well I’d say the meeting went well, anybody up for shawarma? I know a new place…” Tony’s voice grew fainter and fainter as he exited the room.
You stood up from your seat and grabbed your coat. You were ready to follow Nat towards the exit door when Steve caught your arm.
“Not you.” He says sternly in a very serious expression.
Nat throws the two of you a skeptic look before finally exiting the room.
(WARNING: SMUT AHEAD)
As soon as the door closed you turn to Steve, “Look Steve, I – mmmph”
Steve captures your lips with his and lifts you up abruptly and sets you down the table. His kisses were impatient and fervent. His will power was no more. And like the love-struck fool you were, you responded back eagerly and passionately.
You interlace your fingers at the back of Steve’s head, grazing his blonde hair as you pulled him closer to you. You parted your lips for his tongue to gain entrance into your mouth and soon, your tongues were fighting for dominance, each not wanting to lose to the other. You felt Steve’s strong hand caress your cheek as his other hand went to your back, unzipping the tight dress that was on you.
His lips left your mouth to trail hot kisses down your jaw and to your neck, sucking and nipping at your sweet spot. Steve’s hands found their way to your straps as he pulled them down. He took a step back as you stepped down from the table and slowly removed your dress by yourself, revealing the vintage red corset with stockings that you were wearing to your mission.
Steve’s eyes ravaged you hungrily as your short black dress pools at your feet.
He approached you slowly, his eyes never leaving yours. By now, Steve didn’t even remember why he wanted to abstain from you anymore. You run your hand down Steve’s chest and began unbuttoning his polo shirt. Throwing the cotton fabric across the room, your lips collided with his again, and a rough and passionate kiss ensues. He lifted you up onto the table again as he was savoring your taste in his mouth, nibbling on that juicy bottom lip, tugging it lightly with his teeth and rubbing his mouth gently against yours.
Steve was struggling to remove your corset and you giggle at his frustration. Letting out a growl, he tore open the corset, revealing your nakedness.
“Steve! I was going to wear this for my mission.” You exclaimed.
“And now, you’re going to wear your standard S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform.”
“But—” Steve silences you by kissing you again and soon, you didn’t want to argue anymore. You wanted him. All of him.
Leaning your head back, you felt Steve’s kisses go lower and lower from your jawline, to your neck, to the valley of your breasts and down to your stomach. You grab a handful of his hair as you felt his lips on your inner thigh working its way up until you felt his breath on your entrance. You can feel the tip of his tongue lap over your slit, starting at the bottom and ending with the lightest touch on your clit.
His hand caressed your breasts, flicking and rubbing your hard nipples and you couldn’t suppress the moans of pleasure escaping your mouth that just made him turned on even more.
You pulled Steve up and captured his lips. “Please.” You whisper in between your rough kisses.
He pulls away from your kiss, “Doll, after what you did to me earlier, you’re in no position to ask favors.” he says to you teasingly as he plants wet kisses on the sides of your face.
“Steve, please. Just take me.” You shudder as he leaves a hickey on your neck.
You can feel him smile against your heated skin. “Ask me nicely.”
You moan out in pleasure as he rubbed his thumb over your clit.
You regain your breathing as you struggle to speak. “I want you inside me – deep, hard, rough, and fast.” You stutter to say.
With an aroused groan, Steve unzips his pants swiftly and positions himself at your entrance. You bury your face at the crook of his neck letting out a moan as he pushes his manhood into your entrance.
Steve began to move, slowly at first, but eventually picking up speed as he went. You could feel his balls slapping against yours with every hard thrust, and you knew it drove him wild. He quickened his pace stroke by stroke, heartbeat by heartbeat until it made your head fling from side to side, desperate for release. Both of you settled into a rhythm of fast hard strokes, deep, long ones, and grinding ones with your hips undulating against each other. The sounds of the room were filled by your screaming moans of pleasure and Steve’s fervent grunts, not remembering that the door was unlocked and somebody could see you anytime.
You were gasping as you felt your muscle form into knots from so much pleasure. Steve bent his head to suck one nipple into his mouth. Keeping his mouth on your breast, he reached down with one hand and found the sensitive spot on your clit, rubbing it hard and fast. Your breathing hitched as he bit down on the nipple in his mouth, just hard enough to send a jolt to your vagina, and you came with a surprised gasp. Steve trembled and then lunged deep inside and you could feel the orgasm rush through him, hard and wet and disorientating him with its strength. With his cum bathing your insides, it brought the both of you the ultimate pleasure as you joined each other in that mad dive, shuddering upon the pinnacle.
Breathless, Steve rested his forehead against yours while peppering you with gentle kisses.
“I take it you’re not mad at me?” You ask him breathlessly.
“Oh I still am. And you’ll apologize when you get back from your mission.”
Did the best that I could on the smut. I’m very new to writing smuts so I’ll improve as I practice. Haha. Thanks for the love guys. :*

Long Lost Love (Part 6)
Prompt: Clint just lost everything. He turns to you – an old friend and an old flame – for comfort. Can you keep your old feelings at bay? Can he?
Word Count: 2611
Warnings: The Snap, grief, loss, mentions of abuse throughout series, angst will be the best friend in this fic
Note: This was written after IW, but before Endgame - so I have my own take on how certain things happened. Couldn’t have done this without @arrow-guy @carryonmyswansong @like-a-bag-of-potatoes (my amazing betttaa!) @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo

When you awoke the next morning, you were filled with a mix of wonder, hope, and worry. You wondered if Clint would regret his actions and reject you. You wondered if he’d feel guilty or ashamed. You didn’t know how he’d react at all. You only hoped that he felt happy that he did what he did last night.
You made your way downstairs to find him making a big breakfast, whistling, with a towel over his shoulder as he prepared breakfast.
“Morning,” you softly said.
He turned and greeted you with a dazzling smile. “Good morning.” He came over and kissed you again, quick but firm and earnest. He went back to cooking.
“Making breakfast I see, need a hand?”
“Nope, I’ve got it. It’s almost done,” he assured.
You smiled, relieved that he was in a good mood and didn’t appear to regret anything.
The two of you worked on the farm all day together and he was nothing but smiles. You couldn’t figure out what had triggered the change in him, but whatever it was, you were thankful for it.
Time marched forward and the two of you seemed to fall into an easy rhythm, almost as if you’d never parted ways all those years ago on that train station platform. One night you two had a board game night to celebrate a hard day’s work. You played Scrabble with the rules that real words were not allowed, but for every word you made, you had to come up with a definition. You did this with every board game in the house. Real rules were thrown out, new rules were in. It was the most fun you’d had in… you couldn’t even remember how long. The two of you were in stitches the whole time until somehow you wound up on the couch, holding each other all night.
Another night, you two had smores, a small campfire, and both of you laid down, looking up at the stars.
“Well, this snap didn’t do anything good, at all, but if there’s a silver lining, the stars are a lot more visible with less people,” you mentioned.
“Pollution has dropped quite a bit,” he agreed. “It also helps to be in the middle of nowhere on a farm with one building that has lights,” he added.
“That too.”
“I’m glad I get to see it with you.” He took his hand and laced his fingers with yours and you felt your entire soul warm to the touch.
“Reminds me of being out at night after our acts,” you reminisced.
“Yeah, we always seemed to wind up in some amazing places,” he concurred.
“Every place was amazing so long as you were there,” you said.
So far, you and Clint hadn’t labeled what this was. You hadn’t addressed it directly since that first kiss. Part of you was terrified to say anything. That if you called attention to this, it would somehow wake him up from an illusion and he’d break it. He’d see that this wasn’t actually what he wanted. He would see you were Laura’s poor replacement, a rebound, a distraction, a coping mechanism.
You just didn’t want to face what was probably the truth: he didn’t love you - he loved the idea of you.
Allowing your fear to continue to rule you, and not let it take this precious time from you, you didn’t bring it up. You didn’t question why he wanted you now, you simply accepted it and graciously took the gift of having him be yours again.
But, when you said things like this, things that danced dangerously close to those three little words, you were afraid it would trigger the response in him you were trying to avoid.
He simply responded by saying, “I couldn’t agree more.”
It was reassuring… for now.
----------------------
One evening, while the summer air was very cool, Clint took you to a nearby water tower. He said the view was breathtaking and considering he had zero fear of heights, it made sense that he’d visit it. You followed him up to the top, and sat there, agreeing that looking out over the country side looked absolutely stunning. Of course, your fear of heights was vacant as well, because every now and then you had to do acrobatic work in the circus if you wanted to survive.
The two of you sat and talked, drinking beers, talking about nothing in particular for the longest time. After a moment of peaceful quiet, suddenly, Clint said, “You know, I wouldn’t mind seeing the team again. I know I call them off and on, but it’d be nice to actually have them back at the farm, at least once. Just to see their faces.”
You turned your head towards him, holding onto the railing as your feet dangled off the side. “I think that’s a great idea, Clint. If you want to invite them, I think you should. They’re your family after all. I know Nat would love to see you, and I know you’d love to see them.”
“You sure?” he asked.
You nodded. “Yeah. It’d be good for all of you. Not to mention, I’d like to properly meet them. I’ve done a few random patch up jobs for all of them but I’ve never said more than ten words to all of them.”
“Yeah, you’re right. I think you should meet them. You mean a lot to me and they mean a lot to me, it only makes sense to have all of you together.”
“I can make a big meal for everyone,” you said, delighted. “Fried chicken, some desserts. It’ll be a good time.”
“I think they’d love that,” he agreed. He seemed to be perking up more and more with every second you two talked about this. “I’ll call them first thing. How does this Sunday sound?”
“Any day is perfect,” you assured. “Just make sure I have enough time to get the house cleaned and to make a grocery run.”
“Will do.”
---------------------------
Clint called his team and two weeks later, they were at the farmhouse, the whole group of them. Rhodey, Natasha, Steve, Tony, Pepper, their baby Morgan, Thor, and Bruce. They came early on Sunday morning and Clint introduced you to everyone.
He didn’t go into any detail about your past or your present situation. He merely said he had called you up because you were an old friend from the circus that was a vet so you knew your way around animals and the farm.
Thor seemed to be… putting on a show. You could tell he was careful not to let his smile fall unless he thought no one was looking. Tony and Steve seemed slightly tense, but with the way the world was they were trying to look past their issues.
You gave them all a moment to talk alone for a while. You and Pepper sat out on the porch, playing with baby Morgan and Lucky, talking casually for a while. Inside, you could only assume Nat, Steve, and the others Clint was closer to talked about Laura and the kids. You assumed they discussed the snap and more detail on what actually happened. You also assumed he expressed his deep regret for not going to help them.
Everyone greeted you and welcomed you with open arms and when it was time to serve lunch, everyone raved about your food. Thor and Bruce couldn’t get enough of your fried chicken. Pepper complimented you highly on your sparkling strawberry cake. Rhodey said he needed the recipe for your mac and cheese.
The entire day was spent just talking. It weaved in and out of sorrowful talk of who was gone and what had been done to try to think of ways to get everyone back, to what everyone was up to lately. Steve headed up a therapy group in the city, which made sense. Rhodey and Natasha were working almost round the clock to help police the world of any dangers. Tony, Pepper, and Morgan were just enjoying the closest thing to Tony and Pepper being retired as they could. They had a little cabin a little ways from the city on a gorgeous piece of property with a lake. Thor was working with his fellow Asgardians to rebuild their society somewhere off the coast of a Scandinavian area. Bruce had been recruited to work on ways to get resources efficiently.
Everyone was doing what they could to keep society going, to get it back to what it was, to try and not remember all the loss everyone faced every day.
Conversations flowed for a long while, well past dark. It was nice having so much life in the house and you loved seeing everyone. It was no wonder he loved these people. As dinner neared a close, you got up and started cleaning up. Everyone tried to pitch in to help too, but you simply waved them off, telling them you had it covered. Pepper refused to take no for an answer, as did Rhodey. You said they needed to spend time with Clint, but both of them said that the others should really spend time with him.
Clint said he’d get out of the way then and they went outside to the porch. Nearly everyone had a beer in hand as Tony, Steve, Nat, and Bruce followed.
“So, uh, what’s up with Y/N in there?” Tony asked in a hushed tone as he turned to face Clint. The group of them stood in a circle facing each other.
“What do you mean, Tony?” Clint asked, feigning ignorance as he stood there with his arms crossed.
“I mean, what’s the deal? You said you knew her from your circus days. You still keep in contact with all your old circus buddies?” he pressed, knowing Clint despised his past and never talked about it. The only reason any of them even knew about Clint’s past was because they’d read his file.
“No, I don’t keep in touch with anyone but her. She was the only good thing to come out of those horrible elements.”
“So she’s your oldest friend, then,” Thor suddenly said.
“You could say that, yeah. We grew up together…” he replied. All of them could tell there was more he wanted to say, more to say, but he stopped himself.
“Alright, come on, let’s give the guy some space. He’s been through enough,” Natasha tried, wanting them to drop it. Clearly he wasn’t comfortable.
“Well, whatever she is to you, if she makes you happy and keeps you sane, then I’m glad she’s here,” Steve encouraged with a half smile.
“Thanks, Cap,” he said with a head nod. “Yeah, I… When that all happened, I really thought I was just going to lose it. I sat here and stared, not knowing what to do next. Lucky snapped me out of it, but if I didn’t have him, or these animals to care for… I tell ya, my mind went to some dark places. Y/N keeps me grounded though. She helps me on good days and bad.”
“That’s good to hear, man, we're happy for you,” Bruce said.
“We really are,” Nat agreed.
“I’m not gonna say I’m not happy for you, I am,” Tony said, but there was clearly a punchline coming, “but I gotta know, what is the deal? Did you ever date or think of dating Y/N? She seems perfect for you. Knowing each other for all those years, in those conditions, and now she’s back in your life? That’s some heavy stuff man.”
“Tony,” Nat started, her face dropping down before smiling, “I think Clint loves her, but he’s too afraid to admit it right now.”
“That so?” he asked, seeming amused. “I’ll be damned.”
Clint looked at Nat with an unreadable expression. He was half-glad that she said it and he didn’t have to. He was also worried what his friends would think of him, loving you after what happened to his family.
“I don’t want you all to think I don’t love and miss Laura, I do,” Clint started, looking at all of his friends.
“None of us think that, Clint,” Steve assured, but he pressed on.
“You gotta understand, I loved Y/N when we were kids. We were teens. We had that teenage love, you know? It never went away. We never grew out of it. We had to run from our life in the circus, we thought it would be safest if we split up. We said we’d get our lives back on track… Life… life had other plans I guess and I met Laura. I didn’t mean for it to happen, but it did.”
“You don’t have to explain anything to us, buddy,” Bruce said.
“No, I know. I think I’m trying to assure myself. To remind myself I’m not a bad person for loving her. She and I… we have history. Being with her… it’s all I ever wanted. It’s what I wanted for years, and now in a sick twist, I can have her. I feel guilty about it, I do, but we love each other, and I don’t see any good reason to deny ourselves of that. I mean, it may be awful to say, but Laura’s not coming back.” Tears filled his eyes and he started to break down before the group came to the rescue and consoled him with hugs and rubbing his back. When he got calmed down he said, “So I just… I don’t see a reason to put off happiness, you know?”
“We get it,” Nat stated, nodding her head with a sympathetic smile.
Clint nodded, wiping his face. “I’m glad. I’d hate for you guys to think I’m some awful human.”
“Awful for wanting to be with someone you love?” Steve asked, perplexed. “If I could have Peggy back, I’d take her in a heartbeat, no matter how the universe brought her to me.”
“Yeah, take it from Pep and me, we wanted to start our family. The world is in shambles but we’ve waited long enough to start our lives together,” Tony said.
“We’re the last people on earth to have any right to judge and at the end of the day, we just want you to be happy,” Nat informed sweetly, squeezing his shoulder.
He smiled and looked up at his friends. “I love you guys, I really missed you.”
They all smiled back at him and they each hugged. They all needed it more than they knew.
Eventually, the team came back inside and Pepper and Tony packed up Morgan and everyone started saying their goodbyes and loading into cars. Natasha was the last to leave, giving you both hugs.
“Thank you, for taking care of him,” she quietly said as she wrapped her arms around you.
You peered at her, confused at first before nodding. “Of course.”
She hugged Clint and kissed his cheek. She waved to you too, ordered that you call her more often, then got in her car and drove off.
The two of you smiled at each other and held hands as you walked in.
“That was a really nice day,” you said happily.
“Yeah, it was. I’m so glad we did this. Thank you for all you did and encouraging me to invite them,” he said as he put his arms around your waist, holding you close.
“Anything to see you happy,” you informed.
“I know, that's why I’m so lucky to have you.” He planted a firm kiss on your lips and then you two went off to bed, separately.

Undone Part 1
Request:  Could you do a Bruce Wayne x female reader. The reader is Bruce’s ex best friend that he harshly pushed away so she wouldn’t get hurt. They never spoke to each other but one day she’s in trouble so he saves her then kisses her or something. If it’s not to much trouble then could there be fluff and angst?
Pairing: Bruce Wayne x Female!Reader
Characters: Bruce Wayne, Reader
Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings: Arguments, angst
Summary: You’ve been best friends with Bruce Wayne all your life. You’d stuck by each other’s side through thick and then, and maybe, just maybe you saw him as more than a friend. But when you admit to knowing his secret, your whole world is turned upside down.
A/N: Part 2 will be up later this week!
Part 1 of 2
Part 2
It had been three years since you'd left Gotham. Three years since you'd taken a managerial position at an international section of your Father's tech company. But with his recent announcement that he was retiring at the end of the year and you as the natural heir, you'd been forced back to take up his position as CEO. You didn't mind, in fact, you were looking forward to it, having ideas to shake things up some already, but you'd left for a reason and you weren't entirely sure you were ready to face it yet.
Said reason sauntered through the main door of the hall, stunning model on either arm.
It had been three years since you last saw, or spoke, to Bruce Wayne.
~Three Years Ago~
"Bruce, you have to talk to me." You locked the door of the office, blocking it off with crossed arms as you watched Bruce try to hide the blood-stained shirt he'd just been wearing.
"I'm fine, Y/N," he said, keeping his back to you as he pulled on a clean, crisp shirt in place of the old one.
"Fine?! Bruce you disappear for years on some sort of impromptu sabbatical that you told no one about, making us all think you were dead, then show up again covered in scars with a penchant of adding mysterious new ones! What about that is fine exactly?"
Bruce heaved a sigh, shoulders rising and falling as he finished with the shirt and put the tie back on. "It's nothing. Just an accident."
"Don't lie to me. I know you better than that."
Bruce finally turned back to face you, once again appearing as if he didn't have what looked to be a knife wound. "Then stop prodding, Y/N, please. Trust me, I know what I'm doing."
"And I know what you're doing."
"What?"
Dropping your arms you took a step forward. "You really thought I wouldn't figure it out? The late nights, the injuries, the lame excuses? The fact that you came home barely a month before He first appeared? We've known each other all our lives, I can see you, even through a mask."
Bruce actually looked surprised, and you could all but hear the cogs in his head whirl. "Y/N…"
"I'm not going to try and stop you, you're too stubborn for that, but I can help maybe…"
"No."
"No?"
"I don't want or need your help." His tone had suddenly gone cold and instinctively you stepped away again. He'd never been cold with you, you'd barely seen him be cold with anyone.
"Bru-"
"What would you even have to offer? Just spend all night nagging away in my ear and annoying me?"
You scoffed, not quite sure what you’d just heard. “You’re saying I annoy you?” Bruce didn’t reply but the look was enough. “Wow. Over twenty years of being friends and I’m still finding out new things. Tell me, have I always been an annoying nag?”
“No. But things change. People change. We aren’t children anymore, Y/N, and there definitely aren’t many who remain friends into adulthood.”
Digging your nails into the palm of your hand was the only reason you didn’t flinch. “You’re really so willing to throw everything we have away? Just like that?”
“We don’t have anything.”
That hurt. You’d been through thick and thin together, did Bruce really care so little about all that? The icy glare he was giving you suggested he did. “Wish you hadn’t taken six months to tell me that, Bruce. I wouldn’t have wasted my time being concerned.”
Something flickered in Bruce’s eyes but it was gone again before you could read it. “I didn’t want to upset you.”
“Why would I be upset?! It’s only my best friend telling me that I annoy him and wants nothing to do with me! What’s to get upset about?!”
“You’re proving my point.”
“I’m proving you’re an ass! You’re right, Bruce, people do change. And not always for the better.”
“I changed so I could get help people.”
“Yeah, you’re a real hero. And one day that’s going to get you killed. You’ll die, alone, realizing that you’ve pushed away those who actually cared about you, loved you. Gotham will mourn for Batman. Who’ll mourn for Bruce?”
“I don’t need people to mourn me or care about me, and this is exactly why I don’t want you around or in my life. At all.”
“Yeah. Bruce Wayne the genius. Always right.” You smiled bitterly and turned away, walking the few steps to the office door. You paused at the handle, and glanced over your shoulder. Bruce met your eyes and for a second you thought he was going to apologize. Then he looked away and went to stare out the window. “Goodbye, Bruce,” you whispered, letting the oak door click shut behind you.
~
That was the last time you’d seen or spoken to him. Three weeks later you left Gotham and hadn’t looked back since.
Now here you were, watching him draw everyone's gaze as he charmed the room. He looked good, surprisingly, not at all like he'd been roaming the streets as a bat for years. Despite everything, you were grateful for that. He'd broken your heart that day, but it never meant that you wished him harm.
Turning away from the scene of Bruce schmoozing the guest of honor at this party, you plucked a flute of champagne from a nearby tray, and meandered around, making small talk here and there. You spotted Daniel, a swimwear model and your date for the night here and there, flirting with a few of the older ladies. Maybe you should've been jealous, but you really weren't. Both of you already knew you wouldn't see each other again once the night was over.
You were talking to a small group of women who worked for your father, discussing plans for the future, when a presence sidled up just behind your shoulder.
"Evening, ladies," Bruce's voice greeted, ever charming, sending a shiver down your spine. "Do you mind if I steal Ms. Y/L/N for a minute?"
The women of course dispersed, and you picked up another flute, before looking at Bruce as he moved around in front of you. "Mr. Wayne," you greeted, fixing on your best professional demeanor you usually only saved for the boardroom. "To what do I owe the honor?"
"I just wanted to say 'hello'."
"You could've said that next week, I'm sure you're aware that I'll be attending our partnership meeting with my father."
"Of course, but I didn't want you to take offense and think I was ignoring you."
"I assure you, Mr. Wayne, there was no chance of that. Three years of dealing with pig-headed men who think they know better tend to ensure one isn't so easily upset."
"You're right, I'm sorry." It was strange seeing Bruce like this. He looked unsure like he was off-balance and that wasn't something that happened often. "How are you?"
"Never better, though I do miss Paris. Working there was a challenge, but it was fun too."
"I was surprised when you took the position there. Even more surprised when I heard you coming back to take over as CEO. You never expressed interest in that."
He was right. When you were younger the thought of stuffy offices and board meetings had been the exact opposite of what you wanted, instead wanting to focus on the people the company could help. You'd only agreed to your father's idea of Paris to get away from Bruce. But it had also shown you that running the company would give you even greater power to help. "As you said yourself, Mr. Wayne, people change."
It was almost undetectable but Bruce flinched at your words. "They do. And you have, for the better, I'd say. You'll do good things for the company."
You nodded, forcing yourself not to empty the glass of champagne. Why was Bruce being so nice? So insistent on making conversation? Why did he even care about what you wanted these days? You sipped at the alcohol, glancing around the room in a hope to spot an escape. No luck.
"Are you here alone?" Bruce asked.
"No." You gestured towards Daniel who was still flirting around.
"Boyfriend?"
You laughed and shook your head. "Definitely not."
"You were never one for casual encounters."
"Neither were you, yet here we are."
"People change."
"Yeah." Damning civility, you downed the rest of the champagne and set the glass down. "I need to go. I have some early meetings."
You started to move away but Bruce stopped you by clasping your wrist gently. At the death glare he received he released you once again. "Y/N, can we talk, please?"
"We've been talking for the last ten minutes. Or was it hours? Felt like it."
"In private."
There was something in his eyes you couldn't place, it looked like pain, and your heart clenched a little. You knew you should just walk away and leave him, that you'd regret agreeing to go somewhere private, but despite everything, you still couldn't hate him as much as you wanted to. "Fine."
"Thank you." Bruce started to move through the crowd with you following behind him. He led you out into the small garden, closing the doors behind you both once he'd checked to make sure it was empty.
"So?" You asked arms crossed over your chest. "What did you want to talk about?"
"I wanted to say that I missed you."
That sent you reeling and was definitely the last thing you'd expected to come out of his mouth. "You don't get to say that."
"Y/N…"
"No," you snapped. "You're the reason I left! You threw everything we had in my face and pushed me away! So you don't get to say that."
"You're right. And I'm sorry for the things I said. I regret them, more than I can say, but I did it for you."
"For me?! Breaking my heart was for me? How, exactly, Bruce?"
"I was trying to protect you. You caught me off guard when you said what you knew, and then you started talking about helping and immediately all I could think of was how everything in Gotham had become more dangerous for you, and that I needed to keep you safe! I realize now that I went about it in the worst way, but blocking you out like that was all I could think of at the time."
"Fuck you." Even Bruce looked shocked at the coldness in your tone. "You had no right to just decide my fate for me. If you were concerned you should've talked about it like a fucking man! Not demolish an entire friendship like it was nothing!"
"I know-"
"Do you? Do you have any idea what it felt like to hear your best friend say that you're annoying, that they don't want to be around you anymore, that the whole friendship was one-sided? No, you don't."
"I'm sorry-"
"Stop saying that! Stop saying you're sorry when you aren't! If you really did care then why not reach out? A call or a text or a damned email?!"
"Because you were happy! I saw what you were doing in Paris, how well you were succeeding! I wasn't going to distract you from that!"
"Sounds like a cowards excuse to me. I had plenty of friends over there, a single call to try and make amends would've hardly been unmanageable! You were too chicken to say sorry, just like you were too chicken to just fucking talk to me in the first place!" You turned away from him, heels clicking on the concrete as you paced, wishing you had another drink.
"You're right, I was. You've been right about everything! I got hurt and all I could think about was how I wished I had you next to me, or talking me through it."
You hated the thought of Bruce hurt like that, but you refused to let the sympathy creep into your heart. "I loved you, Bruce. I was in love with you! You went away then came back and it hit me. I loved you so wholly I would've done anything for you, risked anything for you. Knowingly and willingly. All I wanted was to be with you."
"And now?" Bruce's voice was barely a whisper.
"I hate you." It was a lie, but it landed the blow you wanted it to. Bruce did actually look like he'd been punched in the gut. "You're not the man I thought you were. Not even close. The best thing you did was push me away because now I don't have to waste any more years loving someone so cold and cruel."
It seemed he had no more to say in his defense, so you headed back towards the door. You paused and looked at him. "I'll work with you, Mr. Wayne, for the sake of both our companies, but any sort of friendship we had is over, and that's not going to change."
Bruce took a moment and you could see him compose himself. He took a breath and nodded. If you didn't know him, you would've missed the pain in his eyes as he spoke. "Of course, Ms. Y/L/N. Have a good evening."
You left without saying goodbye, texting Daniel that you weren't feeling well so were heading home alone. He didn't seem to mind. Tears burned at your eyes as you slipped into the back of your car, it taking all your strength not to let them fall. Maybe you'd been too harsh with him, but after all the pain he'd caused you, it almost felt good to get back at him. Almost. Mostly it just broke your heart all over again.
At least things couldn't get any worse.
Like what you read? Consider buying me a coffee! (I’ll love you forever!)

a conundrum of competing legacies and learning to live for yourself
in many alternate universes, damian wayne becomes a villain. he gets sick and tired of being treated like he will never change, treated like he’s made of glass, treated like a murderer. like a bad person.
so, if people are never going to believe that he’s different, he’s changed, he’s a good person now, really! then why not give the people what they want?
you wanted me to be evil? fine.
so be it.
he fulfills his legacy. becomes the demon’s head. the long line of al ghuls will not end with him. the people are happy, but is damian?
but this is not that story. this isn’t a story where the heroes are right. everyone makes mistakes, everyone is wrong sometimes, and what are heroes if not everyone?
so no. this isn’t a story where a good boy faces the whole world telling him he’s evil and his spirit shattering. this is a story about defying legacies. defying family names and bloodlines and expectations.
in many alternate universes, and indeed maybe the future, damian wayne becomes evil.
but in this one? in this one he learns that you don’t have to wear a cape to save people.
and maybe sometimes, sometimes it’s ok to save yourself.
in the end, he goes to jason. tracks him down to a rundown apartment in crime alley, and they talk.
the one thing their family has never been good at.
what do i do, to- jason. i can't go back to bruce, and i definitely can't go back to the league.  i- i can’t-
that's what they want me to do. i’m done with doing what they want, but i don’t-
calm down, kid. this is an easy problem to fix. what do you want to do?
i don’t- i don’t want-
i don’t want to fight anymore.
then don't.
----------
in the end, he goes to england. maybe it’s for a new start, maybe it’s to remind him of what was. what could’ve been.
whatever the reason, he goes.
he rents a small house in a small town in the countryside, and he draws.
and draws
and draws.
he draws pictures of the birds, of the goldfinches that nest on his windowsill, of the robins in the trees. (and isn’t that just ironic.)
(he draws to distract himself from the empty house.
draws to distract himself from the empty inside.)
he can live with his neighbors constantly asking if he wants to have tea and-
come in dear boy! we have tea and crumpets and you need a little more meat on those bones!
he declines.
----------
but they are persistent, and in the end he says yes.
----------
their tea tastes like pen- like al- like his and he can’t he can’t-
he’s crying.
but he’s in the house of two grandmothers who couldn’t have children and he doesn’t eat enough, and goddammit they will save this breaking boy if it's the last thing they do.
look at those scars, riri. he needs us.
i know, anne. i know.
----------
they let him cry, which is nice.
they sit near him, but not enough to crowd. close enough for him to go to them, which he appreciates.
he cries and he cries and he cries.
you look like you need someone to talk to dearie. i can’t promise that we will understand, but i can promise that we will listen. a boy like you shouldn't have to carry all this weight alone.
damian wants to scream, to yell: you don't understand!! i’ve lost everything! everyone! they all think i’m evil and i can’t replace him, please-
but they said they would listen, and damian doesn't want to fight anymore. he’s tired, and so he talks.
it's what he would like, and isn't that enough?
----------
damian doesn't spare details. he doesn't care enough to hide anymore.
he should care. he should be wary. they could spill his secrets in a second, but the tea smells like home and their expressions are open, and really. what does he have left to lose?
so he spills his secrets to these sweet old ladies who saw a broken, lonely boy, and offered him some tea despite his prickly exterior, despite his god awful superiority complex, despite his saying: no, i don’t want your stupid tea, you hear me? leave. me. alone.
they saw this broken boy, and they didn't need capes to try and save him.
----------
my first kill was at four, a traitor to the crown, and i was excited.
--
i tried to kill him! simply because i was jealous. he was everything i wasn't, and i wanted him dead for it.
--
grayson helped me a lot. they both did. they were my fathers when bruce couldn't be.
--
and jon, sweet, kind jon, partner, my best friend, superboy and robin, one of the only people on this horrid planet who didn't think i was (am) a terrible person, he got lost in space and suddenly he's seventeen and wants nothing to do with me, he goes to the future with hardly a goodbye, and-
--
he shot him and he lost his memories, my mentor, my brother, one of the only people in that god awful house who actually cared.
--
and my team- old team now, i guess, stopped me from killing him, but they just keep escaping! it's an endless cycle of jail and needless murder, it's ridding the world of a monster, and my hands are already covered in blood, and if there is one thing i learned from my mother it's to play by the cheater’s rules-
--
and he crushed his skull in front of me! i tasted his brain, i can’t-
i can’t-
i don’t want to fight anymore, but what else is there?
----------
in the end, he stays over. they tuck him in in a flowery comforter with bird patterned wallpaper, and he sleeps for the first time in what feels like years.
marjorie and anne talk in quiet whispers in their bedroom about how to help this poor broken kid, this little robin with too many legacies to live up to.
he needs therapy, anne.
i agree riri, but this isn't something that we should tell just anyone, i’d offer to help but i retired years ago.
are you really going to let this poor boy go? he might turn to worse things than disassociation if we leave him be.
i know, i know.
----------
in the end, they give him two choices.
you can stay here, and go to a therapist, or you can stay here, and talk to marjorie, who’s a retired therapist.
he wants to say no, to argue. i can take care of myself, i’ve been doing it for years, i don’t need the help of some old decrepit ladies-
but damian doesn't want to fight anymore, and he so he doesn't.
and, oh, doesn't being ok just sound magical?
i will stay, and i will talk to marjorie. but i don't have to talk about anything i don’t want too.
and for now, that's enough.
and for now, maybe he can believe that hope has room for him, too.
----------
have you tried writing letters to him, dearie? i know you love to draw, and that's a great coping mechanism, but maybe writing will help?
and it's been about a month here, here with his sweet, lesbian grandmas, and they are just trying to help, and maybe, just maybe, they are softening his edges just a bit.
and really, what harm will it do?
----------
dear pennyworth,
hello.
when i was young, mother used to tell me that there was a place for everyone after death. that allah had room in his heart for everyone.
excuse my language, but grandfather taught me that was bullshit.
but knowing so many people who have died and come back, (myself included,) has made me start to believe her more.
and maybe it's just that small part of me hoping i will get to see you again, or maybe it's a fool's hope, but living here, with marjorie and anne, they’ve taught me that maybe hope isn't so foolish after all.
so maybe i can afford a little hope.
your young charge,
damian wayne.
----------
the thing about legacies, sweetheart, is that they often leave you in the shadows. don't you think you deserve a little sun?
it's been about three months here, with marjorie and anne, and, yeah, doesn't he deserve a little sun?
things are starting to look up, and maybe it's time to test his wings.
----------
dear alfred,
it's been about three years here, in england with marjorie and anne. and honestly? i think this is the happiest i’ve been.
there have been setbacks, like starting school again, and bruce trying to contact me, but i think i’ve found something here.
i started finding it when i first moved to the manor, with you and with grayson. i started finding it while befriending jon, getting titus and alfred. (i miss them.)
started finding it when i found my first family.
i think i lost it, for a bit there. when you died, when richard lost his memory, when jon left for the future.
but i found it here, in england, with marjorie and anne and the birds i’ve befriended in the forest, and the few people i've found at school who tolerate me.
i’ve changed, alfred. i don’t quite think you’d recognize me. i suppose i must introduce myself, then.
so hello. my name is sparrow jon crane.
what i’ve been trying to find all my life, alfred, was myself. and i think i’ve finally got it.
your great grandson,
sparrow crane.
this is the longest thing ive ever written and GODDAMN am i proud of it

Stay
Rating: PG
Warnings: LGBT+ Content
Setting: New York; Fall 2023
Characters: James “Bucky” Barnes, Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff
Mentioned: Peggy Carter, Johann Schmidt, Howard Stark, Maria Hill
Bucky lowered his head as Sam started shouting at Bruce to bring Steve back. He had hoped his friend had changed his mind; that he decided to not go back to Peggy, but it seemed that he hadn’t. He raised his head and glanced towards the bench where Steve had promised to meet him, a knot forming in the pit of his stomach when he didn’t immediately spot his friend.
“Come on, Steve,” he muttered, closing his eyes. If Steve wasn’t there, that means that he either ran into trouble or that he had already died in this timeline. He didn’t want either to be true.
A flash of light came from the Quantum Portal and the three looked up, breathing a collective sigh of relief. Because as it disappear, there was Steve. All that was with him was his shield. Well, a different shield that looked the same. One he must have picked up in an old timeline. “Sorry I’m a bit late,” he chuckled nervously. “Stopped and talked to some old friends.”
He was quiet for a moment, stepping down from the portal. “Oh, and I had to get something.” There was another flash and Bucky’s eyes widened as he spotted a smaller figure; Natasha Romanoff. He had been told that she died collecting a stone, but there she was. She looked weak and tired, but she was alive.
“Nat!” Bruce rushed forward to help her down, Sam rushing to her opposite side to help. “How-how?”
“A soul for a soul doesn’t just work one way,” Steve said with a small smile. “When I returned the Soul Stone, I spoke to Sch— Red Skull and he allowed me to speak with her. We realized she still had the suit and some Pym Particles so we gave it a try.”
“I need to sit down,” Natasha said quietly. Bucky noticed that she was leaning heavily on Bruce as she walked. She glanced up and spotted the porch. “There?”
“Yeah, we’ll get you there,” Sam told her.
As the three walked away, Bucky turned to Steve. “So,” he started. “You came back.”
Steve nodded slowly, looking at the ground before meeting Bucky’s eyes. “I. . . I spoke with Peggy and Howard for a bit,” he told him. “Peggy. . . She’s happy with the life she ended up with. She has a husband and kids. I couldn’t take that away from her. Howard said she moved on pretty quickly, actually.”
Bucky raised an eyebrow. He knew that wasn’t the whole truth. He could tell from the look in his eyes that there was something else. More to the story. He was curious, but he didn’t push. “Let’s go check on Romanoff,” he insisted.
~ • ~ • ~ • ~
Bucky looked up as the door opened. A couple weeks had passed since Steve returned the stones, and he had been staying in Steve’s Brooklyn apartment. He had insisted he would be fine on his own; he would go back to Wakanda and stay, but Steve wouldn’t have it. He had reminded Bucky that he hadn’t seen him in five years and wasn’t sure that he would ever see him again. He had a good reason to want his friend there instead of on another continent.
“How’d it go?” he asked as Steve came and walked over to him, sitting beside him on the couch. Steve hadn’t told him many details about why he had left. He just said that he had to talk to Nick Fury and Maria Hill.
“It went great, actually,” Steve admitted. He could hear the truth in his voice, but he noticed that his friend seemed nervous. “I need to talk to you, Buck.”
“What did you do this time?” Bucky sighed. He was half-joking, but he was a bit worried that his friend had actually gotten into trouble. There was always a possibility.
“Nothing!” Steve said, nudging Bucky a bit. “I just. . . I think that I’m going to retire. Hand the shield and mantle down. I just. . . I felt like I should talk to you about it first.”
Bucky was silent at first, thinking. “That’s your decision, Steve,” he said finally. “You were planning on giving the shield to Sam before. You know, when you were going to leave. I don’t see why now would be any different. You don’t need my permission, anyway.”
Steve sighed and rubbed his face with the palms of his hands. “About. . . About that,” he started after a moment. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I was going to leave. I’ve been thinking about it more. About how stupid I was to think that was a good idea. I. . . God, Buck, I really am an idiot.”
“Don’t be so hard on yourself,” Bucky said softly, putting a hand on Steve’s back. “I mean, yeah, you are an idiot. And I was upset that you were going to leave. I mean. . . Honestly, Steve, I don’t know how long I would make it here without you. But what matters is you did stay.”
“I shouldn’t have even thought about leaving you,” Steve sighed. “Look, I. . . If you want to leave after I tell you this, I’ll understand. I know how we grew up. I know that we were both taught that this is wrong, but I can’t help it. I. . . I think that there’s a part of me that loves you. Not. . . Not just like friends or brothers or whatever.”
Bucky froze at those words. He had hoped all his life that Steve would say that some day. He hoped that Steve felt the same way he did. The way he always had. He started to speak, but found himself choking with emotion.
“I’m sorry,” Steve whispered. “Just, it’s not. . . It’s not a disease like we were taught. It didn’t go away with the serum. It’s real, Buck. And I understand if you don’t agree, I—”
Bucky took a shaky breath before grabbing Steve and pulling him close, pressing a quick kiss against his lips. It didn’t last long, just long enough to stop Steve’s rambling, but he felt his cheeks growing red. His weren’t the only ones either. “Did you honestly think I felt that way, Stevie?” he said quietly, looking in his eyes. “I. . . I’ve been scared that you thought that for so long. God, Steve, don’t you realize that you’re the only reason I haven’t. . . Left?”
“I-I didn’t know,” Steve murmured. “Heh, can we do that again?”
Bucky chuckled and nodded. “As long as you want, Stevie.”

Dad Level: 3000
Summary: Peter comes down with the flu while visiting the Stark family (and Happy) at the lake house during his spring break from MIT. Thankfully, Tony has been spending the last five years honing his Dad Skills™. He's got this.
Word count: 5,227
Genre: sickfic, hurt/comfort, fluff, whump
A/N: This story is set in March 2025. Morgan is five and Peter is 18 (but also 23 on paper, which totally isn’t confusing at all).
Most of the events of Infinity War/Endgame happened, except Captain Marvel did the snap with her mighty-glowing-lady-warrior-powers and so no one freaking died.
Thanks to @sallyidss and @xxx-cat-xxx for beta reading <3
Link to read on AO3
Tony walks into the kitchen Monday morning to see his five-year-old daughter standing on her tiptoes on a chair, attempting to reach a small cardboard box inside the open freezer.
“What is this, a heist?” he asks, moving towards Morgan. He loops an arm around her middle and lifts her into his arms, planting a quick kiss on the top of her head and causing the little girl to giggle. “I thought Mommy said no juice pops before noon.”
“It’s for Peter,” she says simply.
“Oh it’s for Peter, is it?” he asks, quirking an eyebrow. “And why does Peter need a juice pop at ten in the morning?”
“Because he doesn’t feel good and juice pops always make me feel better,” Morgan concludes.
Tony’s brow furrows, but he just steps closer to the freezer to allow her to reach into the box properly. Now that he thinks about it, Peter had seemed pretty wiped last night, but he’d brushed it off as midterm exam stress. “I think he likes the orange ones best,” he advises.
Morgan fishes out an orange popsicle and Tony lowers her back down to the floor. She skips off down the hall, around the corner, and all the way to the cabin’s guest bedroom where the kid has been staying for the past two days since MIT spring break had officially begun. Tony follows along, his frown deepening when she continues straight through the room and pushes open the slightly ajar door to the ensuite bathroom.
It’s a sorry sight indeed. Peter is slumped on the floor, propped up between the bathtub and toilet, eyes half-closed and his cheek resting on the edge of the bowl. One arm is wrapped around his stomach and he’s pale and sweaty.
Morgan, bless her heart, runs right over to him. “I got you a juice pop!” she says brightly.
Peter blinks up at her and then swallows thickly before offering her the weakest of smiles. “Oh. Thanks,” he croaks. “Uh, do you think you can do me a big favor and eat it for me?”
Spinning around, Morgan gazes up at Tony, her eyes big. “Can I?”
Despite his growing concern, Tony huffs out a quick laugh. “Sure, why not,” he agrees. Pepper is the one always reminding him to choose his battles after all. “We’ll just keep this one to ourselves.”
As Morgan unwraps the plastic from her popsicle, Peter closes his eyes tightly and swallows again, face draining even further of color.
Tony pats Morgan on the shoulder. “Hey, why don’t you go eat that with Uncle Happy? I’m gonna sit here with Peter for a little while.”
“Okay,” she agrees, spinning around on her heel.
The moment she’s gone, Tony’s attention turns back to his other kid, who is looking even more miserable now. “Not feeling so hot, huh?”
Peter shakes his head slightly, letting his eyelids squeeze shut again. “‘M’sorry,” he murmurs.
If Peter didn’t look so pathetic right now, Tony would have rolled his eyes. Instead, he just lets out a small sigh. “Not your fault, kiddo,” he assures. “You throw up?”
“Not yet,” Peter mumbles, then swallows again. “Just... feel really sick.”
“C’mon, Happy’s tuna casserole wasn’t that bad…” he tries to joke, but it falls flat when Peter doesn’t so much as smirk.
Tony steps further into the bathroom and crouches down beside the kid, wincing as his knees click in protest. “Is it just your stomach?”
“I dunno.” Peter shrugs tiredly. “Kinda ache all over...”
Tony places his hand on the back of Peter’s neck and instantly can feel the heat radiating off the kid’s sweaty skin. Peter shivers at the touch. “Your hand is really cold,” he complains.
“Nah, you’re just warm,” Tony disagrees, moving his hand to press to Peter’s forehead instead. He sighs and pushes himself back up to standing. “Think you’ll be okay here for a few minutes?”
“Yeah, ‘course,” Peter croaks, looking a little guilty. “You really don’t have to stay. I know you’re busy…”
“Ah, see that’s the beauty of the retired stay-at-home-dad life,” Tony retorts, straightening back up to standing. “This is literally my job now.”
Before Peter has a chance to dwell too much on that response, Tony exits the room and heads to the master bathroom to locate the thermometer, and then to his lab to grab the bottle of spidey-kid-strength painkiller and fever reducer pills he and Bruce had concocted. Hopefully, they wouldn’t have to use them—he knows Peter hates the way the meds knock him on his ass and make his thoughts fuzzy and disconnected—but he figures it would be good to have them on hand just in case.
After making a quick detour through the kitchen for a can of ginger ale and some crackers, he heads back to the guest room, quickening his pace when he hears the telltale sound of retching and splashing issuing from the bathroom.
“Aw, Pete…” He winces in sympathy at the gagging boy. Peter’s nose is running and his eyes are red and wet with tears.
“Flu was going ‘round the dorm last week…” Peter moans as Tony sets the items down on the counter and wets a washcloth at the sink. “Thought I lucked out. Guess not.”
Tony places a hand on the kid’s sweaty t-shirt to start rubbing circles on his back. But he freezes instantly when he feels Peter tense up at the touch.
“You alright?” he checks, hand hovering just over the kid’s shoulder blades.
“Yeah,” Peter rasps. “Jus’... you never did that before.”
Tony recalls the handful of times he’d seen Peter sick during their time together before. Vomit has never fazed him—he’s had much too colorful of a past for that—but before he was definitely more inclined to offer a joke or a sarcastic remark than to settle for being a comforting presence. Funny what five years with a child who turns into a clingy octopus whenever she’s ill have done to him.
Then again, Morgan is in kindergarten while Peter is eighteen (or twenty-three, according to his birth certificate—it’s been over a year since Thanos and still no one seems entirely sure how to refer to the un-vanished). Maybe the Comforting Presence™ protocol is different for teenagers.
He is just about to offer to step out in order to give the kid some privacy when Peter interrupts his thoughts. “’S’nice,” he murmurs. “May does it too.”
Tony’s heart swells a bit. Then the moment is shattered when Peter suddenly sticks his head back over the toilet and starts gagging again.
“Alright, alright, get it all out…” With a small sigh, Tony lowers himself down to sit on the floor beside Peter and resumes rubbing his back.
When he’s finally finished, Tony flushes the toilet and Peter slumps back against the tub, his eyes closed. Instinctively, Tony lifts the washcloth up to wipe his messy face. Peter flinches at the contact and weakly reaches a hand up to take the cloth.
“Sorry, can do it myself,” he mumbles. “‘S’gross…”
Tony gives a quick snort. “Nah, you know what’s really gross? When I found Morgan’s secret booger stash on the side of her bedroom dresser.” He shudders dramatically.
Almost instantly, Tony regrets his comment when it triggers another round of heaving from Peter. “Sorry, kiddo,” he says as he rubs Peter’s back. “That was on me.”
This time when the spasms cease and Peter slumps back against the tub, he doesn’t bother protesting when Tony cleans his face and flushes the evidence away for him. Tony cracks open the can of ginger ale and passes it to the kid.
“Small sips, okay?” he instructs, reaching up to the counter for the thermometer.
“Can’t FRIDAY just tell you that?” Peter asks as Tony flips on the device.
“Morgan’s pediatrician convinced me this is more accurate,” Tony replies, inserting it in Peter’s ear. “Just be glad she’s graduated to the aural one now. You would not be happy about where this guy had me sticking it for the first year or so.”
“Huh?” Peter blinks at him. Then all of a sudden it seems to click and he groans, “Mr. Starrrk.”
The thermometer beeps. Still smirking, Tony lowers the device down to read the display. His grin falters for a second at the number.
“Wha’s it say?” Peter croaks.
“Nothing we can’t fix,” Tony replies briskly.
“But what’s it say?” Peter repeats. He weakly attempts to get the thermometer from Tony’s grip, but his mentor just holds the device out of his reach, lightly swatting the kid’s hand away.
Peter stares blankly at Tony for a second before glancing upwards. “What’s my temp, FRI?” he asks wearily.
“103.2,” FRIDAY reports.
Tony scoffs, finally flipping around the thermometer to show the ‘103.1’ displayed on the screen. “See? The doctor was right—manual is much better.”
Peter glances nervously at the orange pill bottle on the counter. “Does that mean I have to take the meds?” he whispers.
Tony hesitates for a second. While he knows 103 is not exactly life-threatening, it’s still a far cry from normal. “It would probably make you feel better if we could get it lower,” he reasons.
“It’s not worth it,” Peter mumbles. “They make me feel weird.”
“I wish we had something better for you, bud,” Tony says with a sigh. He considers their options for a moment. “Alright, how about we wait a while and see if it goes down on its own?” he suggests. “But if you hit 104, I’m making an executive decision.”
“Deal,” Peter croaks.
They sit there for a few more minutes, Peter taking deep breaths and looking like he might fall asleep right there against the tub. Finally, Tony’s stiff back protests. “How’s your stomach now?” he asks.
Without opening his eyes, Peter lifts a hand and makes a so-so gesture.
“Well, you seem pretty empty,” Tony goes on. “What do you say we move this party elsewhere?”
“Mm...‘kay,” Peter breathes. Tony pushes himself up to standing and helps him up, supporting him under the elbows. Peter sways on his feet. “Whoa…” he murmurs.
Tony quickly adjusts his grip to get a better hold on the kid. “You dizzy?” he asks.
“Kinda,” Peter admits. ”Just need a sec.”
When it seems like he can safely move without passing out, Tony helps him out of the bathroom and sits him on the edge of the bed.
“Let’s change your shirt, okay?” Tony says.
“Huh?” Peter glances down, for the first time seeming to notice how soaked with sweat his shirt is. “Oh. Yeah.”
Tony locates (what he hopes is) a clean t-shirt from the kid’s messy duffel bag on the floor and watches him pull it on. The simple act seems to take far more effort than usual.
“You wanna go back to sleep?” Tony offers.
Peter’s only response is a non-committal grunt. “Don’t think I can,” he admits. “Woke up at like, six. Couldn’t really fall back asleep.”
“Should we try the couch then?”
At the kid’s nod, Tony guides him out to the living room, keeping a firm grip around Peter’s upper arm for support. Morgan, Happy, and a staggering array of the five-year-old’s favorite toys are currently occupying at least two-thirds of the room’s large sectional sofa while reruns of Peppa Pig play on the TV.
“Peter!” Morgan exclaims when he comes into view. She hops down off the sofa and runs over to them while Happy stands up and starts clearing off some of the cushions to make room for Peter. “Is your tummy feeling better?” she asks. “Can you play now?”
Despite how miserable Peter looks, he manages to give her a half-smile. “Um, maybe in a little while…”
Tony takes pity on the kid and intervenes. “Peter’s not feeling that great, so how about we just watch a movie?” he suggests as he situates the teenager on the chaise section of the couch.
Morgan’s eyes light up. “Can we see Frozen 3?”
“God no,” Happy grumbles, sinking down into a nearby armchair. “That damn song with all of Olaf’s little frolicking snowball children was stuck in my head for a week last time.”
“There’s a Frozen 3 now?” Peter questions, his brow wrinkling. “There wasn’t even a Frozen 2 when I got dusted.”
“Yeah, well, global crisis or not, Disney marches on,” Tony retorts. He tugs a fuzzy blanket out of the stack in the wicker bin by the fireplace and tosses it to Peter, who gives a little grunt of thanks. “For the record, Cars 4 was better than Cars 2, but it was no Cars 3.”
“See, I think they peaked at Cars 5: European Adventure,” Happy argues.
“Nah,” Tony scoffs. “There were at least three too many roundabout jokes.”
“But Mater and Fillmore driving the Autobahn was peak comedy.”
Peter is still struggling to unfold the blanket, so Tony takes it back and shakes it open for him. “What are you in the mood for, kid?” he asks as he tucks it around Peter.
“Whatever you want,” Peter mumbles, leaning back against the pillows. He looks utterly exhausted—Tony figures he’ll be lucky to make it fifteen minutes into the movie before falling asleep. Best to go with something he’s already seen then.
“Lilo & Stitch?” he suggests.
The kids agree, Morgan with much more enthusiasm than Peter. Happy even gives his begrudging blessing on the basis that at least it’s ‘not another damn musical’.
(As if FRIDAY didn’t already have half a dozen audio recordings of him singing “Let It Go” in the shower).
Tony instructs FRIDAY to start the movie before heading back to Peter’s bathroom to gather all the supplies he left, and also snags the room’s small trash can because if there’s one thing he’s learned from Morgan, it’s that you can never be too careful.
Peter’s breathing has already evened out as the opening credits fade from the screen and Tony sinks down into the sofa beside him, and by the time Lilo explains why she can’t give Pudge a tuna fish sandwich, Peter is snoring quietly.
X
To Tony’s relief, Peter sleeps straight through the remainder of the movie, with Happy joining him somewhere around the halfway point. The moment the film ends, Morgan hops off the sofa. “I’m hungry,” she announces. “Can we have mac and cheese?”
Peter gives a low moan and stirs slightly in his sleep. Tony locks eyes with Morgan and presses a finger to his lips, tilting his head sideways in the boy’s direction.
Her eyes go wide with understanding and she tries again in a stage whisper (which honestly isn’t any better than her normal volume). “Can we have mac and cheese?”
Sighing, Tony pushes himself up to standing and prods her along to the kitchen. “Fine. But only if you eat a vegetable with it.”
Morgan grins. “Okay! I want corn.”
“Corn isn’t a real vegetable,” Tony grumbles. He steers them both into the room and moves towards the cabinet where they keep the pasta. “Pick something green.”
Her face falls for a moment. Then, just as quickly as they darkened, her eyes light up again. “Green jello!”
Tony rolls his eyes. He takes out a box of mac and cheese and then opens the fridge to take stock of what’s on hand. “You’re getting cucumber,” he says after a moment.
“I don’t like cucumber,” she pouts, crossing her arms over her chest.
Tony frowns at her. “But you said it was your favorite last week.”
“I don’t like it anymore,” she says simply. “It’s gross. Can we have pudding?”
“That’s the opposite of a vegetable,” Tony argues. “So if you’re eating that, now you have to have two vegetables.”
“Um… Potato chips?” she asks hopefully.
Tony runs a hand over his face in exasperation. “No, that’s not a—”
“Hey Tony?” Happy’s voice calls from the living room. There’s an edge of worry to it. “Can you come here?”
“Yeah, coming,” Tony replies, a feeling of dread already sinking in. He heads back to the living room, Morgan tailing along behind.
The sight awaiting him causes Tony’s heart to clench. Happy is standing over Peter, urgently shaking his shoulder while the kid moans incoherently and tosses in his sleep, clearly in the midst of a nightmare.
“He’s not waking up,” Happy says worriedly.
“I got it,” Tony says, quickly closing the distance between himself and the sofa. “Hey, Pete, naptime is over,” he commands as he taps Peter’s unusually warm cheek. “C’mon, rise and shine. I’d offer to make you some breakfast, but it looks like you’re already cookin’…”
It takes a moment, but finally Peter wakes. His eyes snap open and he sits up gasping.
“There we go,” Tony soothes, rubbing a hand down Peter’s arm. “You’re alright.”
Peter blinks at him. “...Mr. Stark?” Tears are already welling up in the kid’s eyes and falling before he can stop them. His breath hitches in his throat. “Oh god…” he sobs. “I thought… I-I was trapped and...”
“It’s okay.” He sits down beside Peter on the sofa and wraps an arm around him, pulling him into his side. Even six years out from the initial snap, Tony still has nightmares—he can only imagine what Peter must be going through. “You’re okay, you’re safe, just a dream,” he assures.
“Daddy?” Morgan asks nervously. Tony glances back and sees her standing just inside the room’s threshold, lip trembling.
“Hey, munchkin,” Tony says, giving her a forced smile. “Peter’s fine. You wanna go teach Uncle Happy how to make the mac and cheese? Don’t let him add tuna.”
Eyes still locked on Peter, Morgan nods slowly.
Happy moves over to take her hand. “C’mon, kiddo,” he says as he ushers her back to the kitchen. “And don’t listen to your daddy, tuna is a great source of protein…”
The moment they leave, Tony focuses his attention back on Peter, who is just now starting to get his breathing back under control.
“‘M’sorry…” Peter chokes out. “I just thought I was trapped there, and, and…”
“It’s okay, Pete,” Tony says gently. “You’re here with me, not on Titan, not in the soul stone. You’re safe.”
“Titan?” Peter asks, his brow wrinkling. “Wha’ about Titan?”
Tony frowns. “Your nightmare? Trapped on Titan, right?”
Peter’s tears have stopped now and he’s staring at Tony with glassy eyes. “Wasn’t on Titan,” he mutters. “Nick Fury found out I was a spider and sucked me up in a giant vacuum cleaner”—his breath hitches again—“an’ I was swirlin’ around and I couldn’t get out, and someone was chasing me with a giant spray can, and there was this cat but like, a monster cat, and—”
Okay, that wasn’t what Tony expected. He places a hand on Peter’s forehead and feels the heat pouring off of him. Taking the thermometer from the coffee table, he turns it on and sticks it in Peter’s ear.
When it beeps this time, the display reads 104.2.
Tony lets out a low whistle, already starting to untangle the blanket from around Peter. “Alright... guess we’re doing the meds now.”
Peter groans, rubbing a hand at his eyes. “Mr. Stark…”
“Nope, non-negotiable,” Tony replies. He grabs the pill bottle from the coffee table along with the package of crackers. “And you have to eat something so they stay down.”
Despite his grumbling, Peter takes the crackers Tony passes him and nibbles at them between sips of ginger ale. When he’s managed to get two down, Tony gives him the pill.
“I know you’re not a fan, but it’ll help with the pain too,” Tony promises.
“Hm, that’s good…” Peter croaks. “Have a headache. And my throat hurts.”
Tony hums in sympathy. “I can imagine.”
Stepping out, he wets a washcloth with cool water in the bathroom and returns to place it over Peter’s forehead and eyes.
Immediately, Peter lets out a sigh. “That’s really nice,” he whispers.
They rest like that for a few minutes until a small voice interrupts them. “Um, Peter?”
Peter lowers the cloth and both of them glance back to see Morgan padding into the room, a stuffed corgi dog plushie tucked under one arm, an orange popsicle clutched in the other hand. Happy is standing just inside the threshold, leaning against the door jamb with his arms crossed casually.
“Hey.” Peter manages a half-smile.
“I got you another juice pop,” she says, handing it over. “And this is Korg, he’ll make you feel better,” she adds as she nestles the toy into the crook of Peter’s elbow.
“Korg?” Peter questions as his fingers fumble to unwrap the popsicle.
“Thor named him,” Tony replies. “Apparently he’s got a buddy with the same name—thought it would be hilarious when he learned what this breed was called.”
“Uncle Happy said you had a scary dream,” Morgan goes on, plopping down on the couch next to the boy.
Peter’s already fever-flushed face goes a little redder. “Oh, yeah. I guess it was kinda silly.”
“You can tell Korg about it,” she says, stroking the plush dog’s head. “He can’t laugh because he’s not real.”
Seeming caught off guard by that, Peter barks out a sharp laugh which quickly morphs into coughs, but Tony is glad because it’s the first real humor he’s seen from the kid all day.
X
While Happy and Morgan eat their mac and cheese—with tuna for Happy, peas for Morgan—Tony manages to cajole Peter into eating half a can of chicken noodle before the kid nods off with the spoon halfway to his mouth.
“Sorry...” Peter murmurs as Tony dabs the spilled broth off his shirt with a wad of paper towels. “Tired.”
Tony sighs. “Yeah, that would be the meds kicking in,” he says. He checks Peter’s temperature again and sees it’s down to 102.7 now. “At least they’re working.”
“Hmm…” Peter hums sleepily.
“Let’s go ahead and move you to your real bed,” Tony decides. “It’ll be more comfortable to stretch out.”
“Hmm…” he says again.
Tony hoists the wobbly boy to his feet, supporting him under his arm. “You should probably have a shower when you wake up, but I’m thinking it’s a safety concern at the moment.”
“Hmm…”
“Okay, not in the chattiest mood, I get it…”
Tony shuffles him back to the guest room and changes his shirt again. Then he helps Peter crawl into bed and pulls the covers up around him.
“Alright underoos, take a nap,” he says softly. “I’ll keep the little troublemaker from bothering you.”
“Hmm... and Morgan too?” Peter murmurs.
“Smartass,” Tony says, rolling his eyes. “Keep an eye on him, FRI,” he commands the AI. “Sleep well, kid.”
X
After fixing himself his own lunch, Tony spends the next two hours alternating between entertaining a rambunctious five-year-old and trying to catch up on his backlog of SI paperwork for Pepper. He’s sitting at the kitchen table with Morgan, watching her color a page out of her Frozen 3 coloring book, as he skims through yet another proposal on his tablet. That’s when FRIDAY’s voice comes over the speakers.
“Boss, Peter’s temperature has just reached 103 degrees. He is awake and appears to be in distress,” FRIDAY reports.
“Shit,” Tony mutters, getting to his feet.
“You said only Mommy can say that word,” Morgan complains as she colors Elsa’s hair bright purple.
“Yeah, yeah, I was just borrowing it from her,” he mutters. “I’m gonna go check on Peter, okay?”
She nods, still coloring intently. “‘Kay.”
Tony hurries out of the kitchen and down the hall towards the guest bedroom, fully prepared to talk Peter down from another nightmare. What he’s not prepared for is the sight that awaits him.
Peter is sitting up in bed, hunched over himself and trembling. Liquidy vomit is running all down his shirt and soaking into the comforter.
“Aw, bud…” Tony sighs, quickly moving over to the bed. “You really go all out, don’t you?”
Peter doesn’t even look up. His breaths are coming out far too quick, and he’s mumbling something under his breath.
Tony places a hand on his shoulder, causing Peter to jerk his head up, revealing the tear tracks trailing down his cheeks.
“Hey, hey, what’s going on?” Tony asks in alarm.
“S-Sorry…” Peter chokes out. “I just, for a minute, I didn’t know where I was. Called for May and she didn’ answer, so thought I was at the d-dorm, but this isn’t a bunk bed, an’ then I thought I was in the stone but it’s not orange, and then I felt sick but I couldn't get up fast enough, and I just—”
(Okay so the PTSD was just a bit delayed.)
“You’re okay, you’re fine,” Tony assures, rubbing a hand up and down over the kid’s back. “You’re here at the lake house and you’re safe.”
“’M’sorry…” Peter sniffs, hanging his head. “This is dumb, maybe I should just have May come pick me up”—his nose is dripping and he sniffs again—“you shouldn’t have to take care of me when I’m being all gross”—sniff—“a-and...”
Absently, Tony pulls several tissues from the box on the nightstand and holds them to Peter’s messy face. “Blow.”
Peter goes silent and Tony freezes as the realization of what he’s just done sinks in.
Tissues still pressed to his nose, Peter raises an eyebrow to his mentor. “D-Did… Did you just tell me to blow my nose?”
Tony recovers quickly. “C’mon, it’s swallowing all that crap that’s making you feel sick in the first place,” he points out. “Now blow.”
So Peter does.
Tony lowers the used tissue back down and tosses it into the trash can. “Better?”
Looking mildly traumatized, Peter deadpans, “Iron Man just wiped my nose.”
“Yeah, yeah, you’ll live,” Tony dismisses him with a hand wave. Then in a more gentle tone, he asks, “Now do you really want to go home? Because I get it if you do, but I promise, I really don’t mind taking care of you. And with your healing, you’ll probably be feeling better in another day or so. There’ll still be plenty of your break left.”
Peter hesitates. “I dunno. I mean…” He shrugs. “I guess, I don’t really want to leave, but…” he trails off, sounding conflicted.
After a moment, Tony intervenes. “Okay, here’s an idea,” he suggests, as casually as he can manage. “You’re looking a little more steady now, so how about I run a load of laundry and you go take a shower? You can call May after and decide what you want to do. Then we’ll go from there.”
A look of relief instantly washes over Peter at the suggestion. “Yeah, that sounds good,” he whispers. “Thanks.”
X
During the next half hour, Tony checks on Morgan—who is contentedly playing with toys on her bedroom floor—before stripping Peter’s bed and running a load of laundry. When he reenters the guestroom, he finds Peter sitting on the bare mattress in fresh pajamas and with wet hair, looking much more relaxed.
“How’s May?” Tony asks.
Peter shrugs. “Her shift just ended. She said she’s sorry I’m sick.” He pauses for a beat. “Also said she’s not surprised, given all the all-nighters I pulled during the last two weeks and the fact I’ve been mostly living off cereal, ramen noodles, and Fig Newtons this semester.”
Tony snorts out a laugh. “Yeah, that’ll do it.” According to FRIDAY, the lukewarm water of the shower has had the added benefit of bringing Peter’s temperature down to just over 102 and he’s looking significantly better for it. “Still wanna bail on us?”
Peter shakes his head, a bit sheepish. “Not if you don’t mind me staying.”
“Nah, ‘course not,” Tony assures. “Now you wanna go see if Morgan’s up for another movie yet?”
Peter agrees and the two of them shuffle upstairs. As they approach the landing, they can hear muffled voices issuing from the little girl’s bedroom.
“Do you want some more?” Morgan’s voice floats down the hall.
“Yeah, fine. Two sugar, no cream…” a gruff voice replies. “And one of those cookies.”
“No, no you have to call it a biscuit,” she insists, her tone just bordering on a whine. “Mommy says that’s more fancy.”
“It’s a double-stuffed Oreo,” Happy grouses. “It’s a goddamn cookie.”
Peter shoots his mentor a perplexed look. Tony just gives a shrug in return as he pushes Morgan’s door open and then they both immediately pause.
Happy glances up at them from where he’s seated cross-legged on the floor beside the kiddie table. One of Pepper’s silk scarves is wrapped around his shoulders making some sort of shawl, and he’s wearing Morgan’s flowery sun hat with several of her homemade plastic beaded necklaces hanging around his neck. Meanwhile, Morgan sits in the chair to his right, pouring pretend tea from her little plastic teapot into a tiny cup.
Peter leans closer into his mentor’s side. “I think my fever went up,” he whispers. “I’m hallucinating.”
Happy shrugs. “What can I say? She makes a mean chamomile.” Pinching the minuscule handle of his teacup between his thumb and forefinger, pinky raised, he lifts it to his lips and mimes taking a sip.
“Do you guys wanna join us?” Morgan asks hopefully. She’s dressed in her yellow Princess Belle dress and her hair is sporting a loose braid that definitely wasn’t there last time Tony saw her.
Peter hesitates a second, looking into the little girl’s wide eyes. Then he lets out a small sigh. “Well, May did say I should be drinking more fluids…” he mutters as he moves towards the kiddie table, Tony following along behind.
X
When Pepper arrives home from work just past seven that evening, she finds Peter, Tony, and Happy passed out on the sofa and snoring softly amid an array of Morgan’s plush toys. The little girl sits beside them with a bowl of popcorn nestled in her lap, intently watching Frozen 3 on the room’s massive TV.
“Mommy!” Morgan greets, hopping off the sofa and running over to her.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Pepper says as she scoops the five-year-old up in her arms. She gazes around the room, taking in the interesting fashion choices on display. It seems half of her accessory drawer has been commandeered to adorn the three men on the sofa.
Morgan’s full plastic tea service—now complete with Gatorade in the teacups and Saltine crackers on the plastic saucers—has been moved to the living room coffee table. Besides the dishes, the table also contains the thermometer, an empty soup bowl, and a box of tissues, and on the floor in front of the couch is a lined trash can. “What happened here?” she asks.
“Peter didn’t feel good, but Daddy took his temperature and gave him medicine and I got him juice pops,” Morgan reports. “And then we had tea and I gave Uncle Happy and Daddy makeovers.”
Pepper peers closer, noticing the two older men’s nails are painted with sparkly lilac-colored polish and their cheeks are looking a bit more glittery than normal.
“Good girl,” Pepper praises, giving her a quick kiss on her forehead. “Looks like you all took good care of each other.”

Dick Grayson: Meeting Your Heroes
A/n: Bit random but I thought it was a cute idea.
>>>>——————————>
Ever since you’d discovered he was Nightwing, your boyfriend was simply underwhelmed by your lack of enthusiasm or any reaction at all regarding his vigilantism. Like his family had discussed when he brought up the ‘issue’, this was the best case scenario - not only had you stayed with him, you didn’t make yourself apart of that side of his life, it was simply as if nothing had changed. Which, to every hero, was the ideal outcome for confessing their alias to their significant other.
Dick on the other hand decided he required a reaction, he’d made it a secret competition between you two. He wouldn’t hide anything, if you asked a question then he’d tell you about his night in full detail if only to get something from you. Or least a reason as to why you were so collected with all of this.
It started when he climbed through the window one particular night, crimson decorating the right shoulder of his costume as he captured the light of your living room.
“Babe you’re covered in blood!” Your tone held some concern, yourself standing to meet him by the kitchen counter with a glass of water in hand.
“Don’t worry, it’s not mine.” Dick replied rather cooley, acting rather proud that he’d miraculously returned home with only a few minor bruises.
“Oh great, so it’s some strangers blood you’re dripping all over my carpet.” Your sarcastic playful remark knocked him back down to Earth, the man completely miffed that you weren’t phased by the gore he’d brought home with him nor repulsed by it. In fact you had the audacity to joke about your carpet of all things.
He’d have to try harder.
.
“The Penguin escaped Arkham again tonight, not too much of an issue but that old crow still packs a punch.” Was the first thing you heard when your boyfriend returned from patrol, freshly showered and changed he collapsed on the sofa moving between your legs to wrap his arms around your waist and simply rest his head on your abdomen. Instinctively your fingers soothingly carded through his raven hair as he released a hum of contentment at your touch alone, your other hand still shifting through the channels.
“That idiot still using his damn umbrella, with that annoying spike at the end to stab at you like some sort of fencing duel?” You casually questioned, gaze still focused on the TV but Dick noticed the way you jabbed the remote like a sword to complement your words as a visual representation. He wasn’t even sure if you realised you did it.
“Yeah, it totally rained on my parade.” At your boyfriend’s terrible pun, you flicked your attention to him with a raised brow, Dick had taken note as he watched whatever programme you’d settled on but you responded with a pun of your own.
“Straight to the point I suppose.”
This caused him to chuckle a bit, maybe he didn’t need a reaction from you, you’re willingness to take his lifestyle in stride truly didn’t require this competition of his. Your openness about it made it easier for him to relax, to share moments like these with you.
.
And so he settled on keeping you informed on his vigilante side job just as much as he did on his usual one. Contest set aside.
“Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad are back in action, keeps them in line somewhat I guess.” Grayson commented as you both walked into your apartment that evening after your date.
“Agreed, I always said she’d be better without the Joker. Glad she took my advice, and Ivy is a much better match.”
“Ivy? What?” He looked puzzled, watching as you placed your keys on the coffee table reaching for an envelope beside them.
“Yep, my girls are dating! Surprise my love, it’s good news though at least I think so.” You gleefully stated, handing over a letter sealed with a prominent scarlet lipstick mark.
“To my favourite (S/h/n), the best there ever was cuz Bats put me in Arkham.
Hope everything is okay with you sugar, I told ya I was doin alright now I’m back on my feet and out of that crazy place and Ivy has my back. Broke my phone on my last mission but I’ll drop by soon or call ya (Y/n), whichever comes first.
Love, Harley x”
.
It was eerily silent after your boyfriend read the letter, his brows knitting together as he looked between you and the parchment a couple of times with failed attempts at making conversation. Instead simple gasps emitting from his lips which you found endearing.
“(S/h/n)?! You’re them?!” His sudden excitement startled you, his sapphire irises lighting up more than you thought possible.
“I was, but I retired. Wanted to make a life for myself outside of the vigilante game y’know.” You shrugged it off unbothered, the contrasting response to a giddy Dick Grayson who gazed at you like a lovestruck teenager.
“No way! This is the best day of my life! I’m so glad I finally get to meet you - I have so many questions!” He places the letter down on the counter, pacing the kitchen with his hands in the air and a variety of gestures accompanying his cheerful tone.
“Uh... Dick...” Your voice and expression mirrored that of confusion, believing he would already know about your past.
“I don’t think you understand, I had the BIGGEST crush on you and it sucked that I only got to work with you like twice. No matter how many times I tried to get Bruce to track you down so we could recruit you to one of our Teams, he wouldn’t allow it and I couldn’t find you myself either. And yet here you are in my apartment!” His hands grasped your shoulders, words tumbling from his lips like he hadn’t processed them much to your amusement.
“You’re dating me... in our apartment...” Your voice displayed your humour, dazzling smirk gracing your lips as you emphasised the facts.
“...”
As if this information had just registered in Dicks brain, you tilted your head slightly as you spoke with a genuine smile.
“Earth to my boyfriend - hello?”
“Holy crap, I sleep with you.” It was a mutter of disbelief, any quieter and you wouldn’t have heard it but you smugly answered anyway.
“Yes. Yes you do.”
“This is - I don’t know what this is - a dream come true! (S/h/n) is my significant other, I’m the luckiest guy in the world, I mean I knew that already but now - I love you even more (Y/n) and I didn’t think that was possible.” The excitement practically radiated from his form and he wasn’t really sure how to process this development - going from crossing his arms to gesturing toward you and shaking his head with an unyielding grin.
“Oh my god, you’re fangirl-ing. I have a fangirl, this is unreal. I can’t look at you right now let alone anything else Dick.” You facepalmed, hiding your obvious devious smile behind your hand as you desperately tried not to laugh at his behaviour.
.
It was silent once more, you still being surprised by how much Nightwing admired you, although back then he’d have been Robin. The original boy wonder had a crush on you, how sweet.
“Do you still have your suit?” It was out of the blue, Dick more serious about this inquiry.
“Wha- no!” After playfully punching his shoulder you responded, the male feigning pain but matched your smile.
“Aw, we could’ve taken a picture together in our suits. Talk about goals.”
“What a tragedy.” Sarcasm, you simply couldn’t help it as you rolled your eyes.
“It all makes sense now, why you didn’t give a damn about me coming home a mess. You’d seen it all before, probably done it yourself. You know about major criminals and asked about their strategies and gave your own advice, heck you even have personal ties to Harley Quinn! Wait, did you get stabbed by Penguins umbrella? I feel like I should’ve noticed this sooner actually...” The last statement held a hint of sheepish embarrassment, Dick rethinking over the signs he’d glossed over during your relationship.
“Lightly prodded. And considering you were trained by the worlds greatest detective then maybe? But in your defence I made sure all evidence of my past was gone.” You happily reasoned, wrapping your arms around his waist as you stepped toward him.
“Exactly! You seem like a normal civilian except from the casual ‘oh cool’ when your boyfriend tells you he’s Nightwing.” He returned your comforting embrace, placing a kiss to your nose in the process.
“I knew that fudged you up!”
“It didn’t... I just wanted you to swoon a little, I mean have you seen me in that suit? But you didn’t even bat an eyelash...” Now you could tell he was joking with you, tone somewhat seductive as he smirked knowing you did find him attractive both in and out of his Nightwing suit.
“Oh? I’m sorry, but aren’t you supposed to act cool in front of your hero crush?” Was your cocky reply, pulling back from his embrace with sass in your tone.
“You have a - on me. As in me?” Dick placed a hand to his heart as he asked, sincere with a degree of surprise.
“Duh.”
“I have to call my brothers! Tell them that (S/h/n) has a crush on me!” Once more his voice filled with what can only be described as sheer joy, quickly kissing your lips before reaching for his phone whilst you crossed your arms with a sigh.
“On Nightwing, but sure go ahead fangirl.”
