You never thought there’d come a time where you’d have to live in a world without Anthoine in it. Born a year before you, Anthoine walked you through life – from teaching you how to ride a bike to teaching you how to drive a car. He’s always been there. Always there to tease you, always there to protect you, always there to threaten Charles about breaking your heart, always there to wipe your tears.
You don’t truly realize how big of an impact someone has on your life till it’s gone. Before Anthoine’s death, you were already out of the house. Busy with university, you barely had time to talk to your family apart from weekends.
The week after he died, you tried to convince yourself that it’d be easy to adjust to a life without him in it but you never expected all the little things that suddenly disappeared. From receiving random scientific articles in the middle of the night to sudden facetime calls as a plea to help him with his homework, you never thought the simplest thing you used to take for granted – and even be irritated at – would hurt so much.
It was like losing a limb – you never truly get over it. It was like losing your hands and learning how to write all over again. You know you could do it before – you could write just as easily as you could breath that you never even bothered to wonder exactly how difficult it would be to not be able to do so. You know there used to be something there, something that isn’t there anymore. You know you used to have a brother and you never even bothered to think about what it would be like without one.
It was almost like the warnings not to go to the deeper parts of the pool in case you drowned. You always ignore the warning. Why should you be afraid of going to the deep parts when you know how to swim? Why should you be afraid of losing your brother when he knew how to drive? It was never meant to be like this.
After Anthoine’s death, you selfishly begged Charles to quit racing. On your knees in front of him with tears falling down your face like a waterfall and your body violently shaking from grief, you pleaded for him to stop. You all knew it was dangerous before, but this was never supposed to happen.
You’ve known Charles nearly all your life, following him, Pierre, Esteban and your brother around during your childhood as they raced and won and lost. Even as children with toothy smiles and sweaty hands, you and Charles have always had something. You went from innocent children chasing each other around and jumping on each others’ backs to awkward teenagers promising each other the world and more to adults holding each other through heartbreaks and grief.
But he only sank to the ground beside you, arms tightly wrapping around your figure as he apologized again and again, his own tears falling as he carried the grief from losing a friend and the heartbreak of seeing the love of his life breaking before his eyes. He apologized because he won’t do it. He knows the risk, perhaps a little more than anyone. He knows what he might lose but he will not give up the one thing he dedicated his life for.
So instead, he just apologized, trying to hold you together as you break apart. He won’t give up racing, not even for you.
Adjusting to life without Anthoine in it meant many things. It meant bittersweet birthdays knowing you’re getting older and he never will. It meant a sudden burst of grief in the middle of the day as something mundane reminds you of him. It meant separating yourself from the things you once loved. Where you once lived for racing, for the thrill of it all, you now hold contempt for it. You hold contempt for the sport that took your brother, that has the chance of taking your lover.
You very rarely attend GPs, usually only going when you know Charles truly needs your support above all else. You don’t keep up with it anymore either, at least not as much as you used to. Anything you know about it comes from Charles. You no longer watch races, your TV shut every weekend, hating the nagging anxiety in your chest every time you do so, always waiting for Charles’ car to skid over to the barriers despite your efforts of telling yourself that it won’t.
Instead, now you choose to wait for his text, going about your day as you do your best to act as though everything is perfectly normal. The first thing Charles always does as soon as he jumps out of the car is text you, letting you know he's okay and the race is over.
You especially avoid Spa, learning very early on that it holds nothing but bad memories.
But Charles has been struggling all season, his own team seemingly sabotaging him. You know how stressed he’s been despite his best efforts to unwind and focus all his time on you and spend some quality time together during the holiday break and so despite yourself, you insist on coming and supporting him in Spa, knowing how much he needs you.
“You don’t have to go,” he murmured against your skin the day before your flight to Belgium, arms tightly wrapped around you. “You don’t have to put yourself through that. Not for me.”
Early morning sunlight trickles in through the drawn windows, dancing against Charles’ bare skin and you can’t help but trace it with your finger, finding satisfaction in the way he shivered under your touch. The two of you decided to get up early for the last day of his holiday break, determined to make the most of the day. Charles had even cancelled his training sessions with a promise that he's all yours for the day.
Loving Charles has always been easy. It’s almost a part of you, almost like breathing. People often say that love fades over time but you’ve loved him since you were a child and the two of you still act like you did the first time you got together, only more in love than ever as you held each other through grief and hardship.
You still smile when you think about him, still fall in love with the sound of his laugh. You still feel giddy over little touches and your heart still flutters every time your eyes meet. You still crave him just as hard as you did before.
Falling in love with him was the easiest thing you've ever done and you both choose to remain hopelessly in love with each other through the years. When you're gray and old, you know it's him by your side.
“I want to be there for you,” you assure him, planting a kiss at the top of his head. You take all of him that you can.
Charles tries to focus on the topic at hand rather than the feeling of the pads of your fingers against his bare skin. “I know, but you don’t have to be. I know how hard it is for you especially Spa–”
You cup his cheeks, softly pressing your lips against his to cut him off. “Je vais m'en sortir. Arrête de t'inquiéter autant, mon amour.” I’ll be okay. Stop worrying so much, my love.
“I know you’ll be okay,” he says between the kiss, his lips ghosting over yours. “But it’s my job to worry.”
“You don’t have to,” you say. “You know I won’t do it unless I’m absolutely positive and I want to be there to support you, Charles.”
He meets your eyes, searching for any sign of hesitation in them and when he finds none, he lets out a low groan as he starts attacking your lips, sucking and kissing, soft and rough, overfilled with love and adoration for you. He will never be loved like this by anyone else, loved so gently and so fiercely, so softly and so roughly. It's always been you, it's still you and it will always be you for the rest of his life.
“I’m going to marry you someday, Y/N Hubert.”
“You better.” You grin as you feel him trying to pull you closer. You don’t think you could ever get enough of this.
Walking into the paddock, the media is immediately at your face, asking questions after questions about Anthoine. You hate that they still use him as headlines. You hate that you have to deal with them. But Charles holds your hand tightly, pulling you to his side and shielding you from the cameras the best he can without looking like he’s making a big deal out of it. He doesn’t stop for pictures and autographs as he usually does and instead focussed on getting you away from the spotlight.
As soon as you step into the circuit, you can already feel your heart beating against your rib cage, your brain reminding you of the last time you were here. Reminding you of Anthoine and his easy smile, trying to convince you to wear his Renault merch in support of him rather than the Ferrari shirt you were wearing in support of Charles.
“If I win, you have to change your shirt and support me for the rest of the season,” he told you with a grin and you only playfully rolled your eyes as you tapped on his helmet the way you know he hates.
But he didn’t win. He didn’t even reach the finish line. His season ended there. Instead, the stands were filled with gasps as his car flew over the gravel before Correa crashed into him.
“Mon amour,” Charles muttered softly, giving your hand a light squeeze as he pulled you out of your thoughts.
Concern is evident in his eyes as he takes you in and you do your best to give him the most reassuring smile you can manage. “Go focus on your race and stop worrying about me. I’ll be fine and I’ll be cheering the loudest later.”
Charles makes a face as though he doesn’t believe you and you know he must see the grief in your eyes and so you offer him a kiss before letting go of his hand and heading over to where his family sat.
“There’s my favorite Leclerc,” you joke as you approach Lorenzo, the oldest of the brothers offering you a hug.
“You mean me right?” Arthur, whom you hadn’t noticed was there, butt in, practically throwing himself at you as he hugs you. “Because I’m obviously the best out of us three.”
“Oh you wish, mate,” Charles grins from behind you, his arms snaking to wrap around your waist. He always has to be touching you. No matter what, he needs to be holding you all the time. He feels calmest with your body pressed against his. “I’m obviously her favorite. She’s dating me.”
“Don’t get cocky,” you scold half heartedly, leaning against his chest. “I was clearly talking about Pascale.”
The woman turns to you upon hearing her name, immediately pulling you out of her son’s arms and into her own, making Charles frown and everyone else laugh at the childish display.
“Y/N, darling, I didn’t expect you here,” Pascale greets kindly, practically situating you next to her.
“Someone needs to kick Binotto’s ass if he messes up again,” you grin.
“Baisse la voix. Je ne veux pas être viré !” Enzo jokingly says, making all of you laugh again. Keep your voice down.  I don’t want to be fired!
“Ils n'oseraient jamais vous virer, Enzo,” you say with a laugh. They’ll never dare fire you, Enzo.
Charles takes a moment to admire the sight of you so easily getting along with his family as though you’ve always been a part of it. At this point, he’s convinced his mother likes you more than him.
“I’ll see you later, chérie” he tells you softly, planting a kiss on your temple as he detaches himself from you, going to his garage to prepare for the race.
You try to keep your worries at bay as you watch him walk away, but everyone seems to notice as they protectively scoot a little closer to you.
“He’ll be alright,” Pascale reassures you with a smile. “He’s a tough one and the sport is much safer than it used to be.”
You’re not sure if she’s trying to convince you or herself.
The race was intense with Chrles leading and Max attempting to fight him from p2 and the rain had begun pouring. You’re at the edge of your seat through it, listening to his radio as you focus on calming your nerves, repeating again and again that racing is much safer now than it used to be.
“Box, Charles, box,” his head engineer says. “We need to switch from dry tyres to wet tyres.”
“No,” your boyfriend insisted, his breath jagged. “We’ll lose our place.”
“The rain is only getting harder, you need to change tyres.”
But you know he won’t do it. With Max leading with 80 points in the drivers championship, every win counts. Charles is desperate to close the gap in order to have a shot at the championship.
“No! It can take three more laps–”
You felt your heart drop as gasps filled the circuit and Charles’ car came skidding through the gravel, losing a front tire in the process before colliding with the barrier, his front wing completely and two other tires detaching from the car. Everyone who knows the basics about formula 1 knows that a collision more often than not, causes another one as the debris from Charles’ car causes Max to lose control of his, spinning till it collides with what was left of the ferrari car.
The silence is deafening and you feel yourself freeze as you watch it happen. Dimly you’re aware of the announcer saying something about what a nasty incident it was. Dimly, you felt Arthur move behind where you and Pascale sat, wrapping an arm around the two of you.
But mostly, you can hear the sound of your heartbeat as though it’s beating against your ear. You can hear the Ferrari engineer calling Charles’ name again and again and you watch as his car catches fire, releasing a fog of black smoke as the marshals try to extinguish it.
“Anthoine,” the Renault engineer calls again calmly though there’s a certain fear in his voice now. “Please confirm that you are okay.”
Silence follows as you and everyone else in the garage waits for an answer. You can already feel tears sliding down your cheeks as you gripped your headset, hoping and praying for a sound.
“Anthoine,” the engineer calls again. “Confirm your position.”
But no answer comes.
“Charles,” the Ferrari engineer calls again. “Charles, are you okay?”
You and Pascale grip each other’s hands as you wait for an answer.
“Charles, can you please confirm if you are okay.”
“If I win, you have to change your shirt and support me for the rest of the season.”
“I’m going to marry you someday, Y/N Hubert.”
You've seen this before, have been in this situation before. You've talked of the future so callously before only to learn that you've lost it and you can't do it again. Not Charles. Never Charles.
You grab the headset out of the engineer’s hands, becoming more and more desperate. “Charles!” You’re screaming now, you realize, your voice hoarse. And you hadn’t even known you’re crying till you felt the wet teardrops fall to your shoulder. “You better answer, Leclerc!”
But still, nothing but silence follows as the rest of you watch Max climb out of his own car and try to help extinguish the fire, the red Ferrari car still bathed in flames and smoke as he obviously wants to help pull Charles out of the burning car.
“Charles, please,” you cry out.
“Tonio, please,” you begged. “Don’t do this to us.”
But no answer comes and you feel an arm wrap around you as you cry to the headset.
Inside the car, Charles fights to get his seatbelt off as the heat engulfs him, trying to push himself up as he struggles to free himself. The race had been stopped as everyone watched. The silence is loud as they all wonder if they’re watching another tragedy unfold.
But all Charles can think about is you and how you must be feeling right now. “Y/N!” He tries to scream into his radio despite knowing it won’t do anything.
Eventually, he manages to remove his seatbelt and he once again forces himself to push his body up despite the heat and the pain the action caused. It doesn’t matter if he’s got broken bones or third degree burns, he needs to get to you. He needs to wrap his arms around you and assure you that he’s okay, that you won’t have to mourn him too.
Maybe it’s the adrenaline or maybe it’s his pure determination to get to you but eventually, he reaches into his halo and pulls himself up, feeling a tiny bit of relief as the air hits him. Max and another marshal reach forward, helping pull him out as he jumps over the burning Ferrari.
He needs to get to you. He needs you to know that he’s okay.
“Y/N!” He screams at the top of his lungs as Max pulls him farther away from the car and into the track where the ambulance moves toward him.
From your place in the garage, a sob of relief escapes you as you watch him emerge from the fire and smoke. You sink to Enzo’s chest as you cry, feeling as though you could pass out.
“Thankfully, Charles Leclerc seems to be conscious, seemingly calling out to his partner Y/N Hubert” the announcers say, relief clear in their voice as everyone cheers. “He will now be taken by the ambulance to treat his injuries.”
You, Pascale, Enzo, Arthur and a bunch of the Ferrari team rush to the hospital where you were informed of his injuries. They say it’s a miracle he didn’t acquire worse injuries than a sprained ankle and first degree burns. They assure you that he will be okay and that you’re more than free to see him and before you know it, you’re running through the hospital hallway, pushing everyone out of your way as you reach for him.
Pushing his door open, Charles couldn’t help but finally breathe a sigh of relief when he saw you, immediately jumping to his feet to wrap you in his arms. Your eyes are red and your cheeks tearstained, helplessness clear in your eyes as you suddenly look smaller than you actually are. The sight breaks Charles’ heart.
“I was calling for you,” he says, hugging you tighter than he ever has before. “The radio was broken but I was calling for you.”
You’re crying again as you grip his shirt, breaking down in his arms. Charles holds you closer, his own tears falling. For a moment in that car, he thought he might die and all he could think about was you.
“I’m sorry,” he mumbles against your hair, trying to fill himself with you – your scent, your touch, the feel of his skin. The thought that he could have lost this feels worse than death. “I’m so sorry.”
“I can’t l-lose you,” you tell him as the two of you hold each other as tight as humanly possible. “I can’t lose you, Charles. I can’t.”
“I know,” he says. “I know, baby. And you never will.”

“You’re running the money through here?” Steve asked Bucky, and he nodded.
“Yes. We have a few other sites we launder through, but most of the money comes through here. Police don’t come poking around a locally owned Romanian restaurant on the upper east side,” Bucky explained.
“Boss is very... careful.” Zemo explained, referring to Bucky.
They were trying to make a deal with Steve and Sam, the two American bosses of another mafia they were trying to sell their illegal weapons to. One of their bases was raided, all of their drugs and weapons seized by the DEA.
They had come to Bucky, looking to buy more weapons to arm their dealers and “soldiers”.
“And who is this exactly?” Sam eyed Zemo suspiciously.
“Zemo. He’s security, and my weapons expert,” Bucky answered.
“Do you have connections?” Steve continued, trying to ignore the Sokovian’s unsettling stare.
“Yes. The head agent of the Manhattan DEA is one of us. Half of the local precincts are in our pocket, and I own the NYPD.” Bucky’s tone was impatient, he didn’t appreciate the questioning of his authority.
Bucky was the most powerful man in New York, and also the most feared. He demanded respect, dominating every space he entered. Steve and Sam wanted to be under his protection, and be supplied by him.
The men stopped talking when they heard a noise, and the four men burst into the front of the restaurant, guns drawn.
“Did you not lock the fucking door?!” Bucky snapped at Zemo. Zemo just rolled his eyes, and they stepped out into the dining room, where you stood.
You loved the Romanian restaurant just a few streets down from your building. You frequented it, their papanasi your favorite comfort food.
You’d had a rough week, a lot of family drama, and you were craving the Romanian food. You found the door unlocked and a back light on as you were walking home late, and you’d gone inside to try to get a snack.
It was empty, but four men had come out, three of them pulling guns and pointing them at you. You’d heard voices and had begun to walk to the back hallway, where they’d been talking in an office. You’d heard “I own the NYPD,” and nothing else. You’d started to leave when the men had appeared.
The man who didn’t have a gun pointed at you was in an all-black suit, silver eyes matching silver rings on his fingers that looked like they costed more than your Manhattan rent.
You were frozen, staring down the barrels of three guns, fear robbing your lungs of air.
“Get your fucking guns out of her face!” Bucky shouted, making you jump. Zemo obeyed immediately, but Steve and Sam kept their guns pointed at you.
“She’s-”
“She’s unarmed and terrified. Put down the fucking guns!” The other two slowly lowered their weapons, and you were shaking.
Bucky looked at you, a frightened girl who clearly had just ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time. You stared back at him, your hands trembling. You didn’t understand him protecting you from the other men, but you were thankful.
“Please, I didn’t hear anything, I haven’t done anything... I just wanted some food,” you pleaded softly, looking at Bucky in hopes he’d take more pity on you.
“I believe you, doll, but we can’t let you leave,” Bucky spoke, and you bit your lip.
“I won’t do anything,” you promised.
“I know. You came for something to eat? Let’s get you some food. Zemo.” Bucky pushed the Sokovian toward the kitchen.
“Barnes, we can’t just-” Steve turned to Bucky, starting to object.
“You will respect my authority, Steve.”
You looked at him, and Bucky held his hand out for you to take. You hesitated, and his silver gaze softened.
“I’m not going to hurt you, doll,” he said quietly, and you carefully put your hand in his, the metal rings cold against your warm skin. Bucky pulled you toward him, his other hand going to rest on the small of your back as he led you to his office, sitting down with you on one of the brown leather couches. You began to smell the food Zemo was cooking, growing hungrier. Sam and Steve sat across from the two of you, and you shifted under their intense gazes.
“What’s your name?” Bucky asked you, and when you didn’t answer immediately, he introduced himself.
“I’m James Buchanan Barnes, but my friends call me Bucky,” he felt bad that you’d gotten caught up with them. Under another circumstance, he probably would’ve sent you away, but he couldn’t let you go in front of the two Americans, and not risking what you may have heard of their conversation.
Your mind was spinning. You’d never been in the presence of four men as beautiful as the ones in the restaurant. Bucky especially, was incredibly gorgeous. His stern, dominating personality made him far more attractive somehow, and you found yourself growing warm in your jeans.
“Your name, doll?” Bucky’s voice was soft as he called you back to attention, snapping your mind out of your wandering thoughts.
“Y/N,” you whispered, pulling at a rip in your jeans, letting your eyes fall down to your lap.
“That’s a pretty name,” Bucky said, repeating it, and god it sounded so much better falling from his lips.
“Here,” Zemo returned, setting down a plate for you. A small gasp left you as Bucky hauled you closer to him on the couch. You realized it was so that Zemo could sit down on your other side. You picked up the plate, eating quietly, trying to ignore the stares from the men across from you.
Zemo and Bucky didn’t stare, and Bucky’s hand rested lightly on your leg. They began to speak in Romanian, and you didn’t understand, so you kept eating. You nearly choked when Bucky squeezed your thigh a bit, his rings glinting from the movement.
You wondered how the cool metal would feel against your heat.
“Y/N? I asked if you were alright?”
“Hm? Yes,” you blushed furiously, and Bucky had an amused smirk on your face, practically reading your mind, or at least recognizing filthy thoughts as you stared at his large hands.
“Her cheeks look a little rosy,” Zemo hummed, his fingers brushing lightly over your cheekbone. Your chest rose and fell heavily, and Steve leaned forward and took the now-empty plate from your lap.
“Are you nervous?” Bucky teased, his deep voice soaking into you, surrounding you and blocking out everything else.
“No, sir,” you shook your head, swallowing hard.
“Sir? So sweet,” Zemo chuckled darkly, and you felt his fingertips ghost down your spine.
“I am sweet,” you said, looking up at Bucky, and he tilted his head to the side a bit, running his hand up and down your thigh. You squeezed your legs together without meaning to, just needing to alleviate some of the sexual frustration that was building inside of you.
You were overwhelmed by the two men speaking softly and sensually to you, their hands on you, the dominating personalities, and the tension in the room. You were focused on Bucky, and he helped you onto his lap. You let him move you to straddle his hips, your back to the other men.
“Want to show me how sweet you can be, doll?” He asked, his hands resting on your ribcage, and you could feel him through your thin top. You nodded shyly, and he kissed you to get you to relax a bit.
“My friends here are going to watch, okay?” Bucky’s voice was dangerously soft, and you nodded. He kissed your cheekbone lightly before slipping your top over your head, your breasts barely covered by thin, see-through lace.
You blushed, looking to the side and seeing Zemo shift at the sight of your chest.
“He’s admiring you,” Bucky hummed softly into your collarbone, pressing a kiss to the skin there, just above the curve of the lace on your breast. His hands slipped down into the back pockets of your jeans, squeezing you and pulling a breathy noise from you. You couldn’t see Sam or Steve, but you felt their gazes on your back, watching the way Bucky balanced softness and dominance with you.
“I want to make you feel good, I want to hear your little moans of pleasure,” Bucky spoke quietly, mouthing gentle kisses along your jaw.
“Please,” now, instead of begging to leave, you were begging for him, the mafia don you were on top of.
“Let’s let these poor boys behind you see. I want them to know who’s in charge here,” Bucky said, and you nodded in consent. You felt like you could collapse as he got you to stand up off of his lap. You looked down at his rings as he smoothed his hands up your belly to tease the raised peaks under your bralette.
“So pretty, doll,” Bucky praised you, kissing just above your navel. His eyes gazed up at you, and your trembling fingers threaded through his dark hair as you got lost in the stormy grey.
Bucky wanted to tear you apart, but he took it slow and was gentle for you, the sweet girl under his protection.
He kissed the space between your hips as he undid the button on your jeans, sliding them down your legs. He reached a hand up for you to take as you stepped out of them, holding you steady. He smiled at the lace bottoms that matched your top, nearly see-through.
You heard a soft throaty noise from behind you, and you looked to see Sam and Steve with their hands down their trousers, stroking themselves as they watched Bucky undress you. Zemo was doing the same, but less shy than the other two, his suit pants down around his knees, giving you full view of his cock.
You blushed shyly, feeling exposed but somehow safe with Bucky, who was squeezing your ass, leaving imprints of his rings against your skin.
“Look, they’re all touching themselves because of you, how beautiful and sweet you are,” Bucky turned you around so your back was to him, making you watch Steve and Sam. Your skimpy underwear showed how wet you were, and you were unable to hide how turned on you were any more.
Bucky’s hands were on your hips as he kissed down your spine, shivers shooting through your body. He slid the lace down your legs, leaving it discarded on the floor with your jeans, but not bothering to get you fully naked.
A soft squeal escaped as you were suddenly dragged backwards, falling onto Bucky’s lap, your back pressed against his suit-clad chest.
“You can rest on me, doll,” he coaxed you to relax, his hands smoothing down your body.
Steve and Sam were overwhelmed by the sight in front of them, and Bucky knew it. He was doing this to assert his dominance, and to establish a level of trust between them. They watched him part your legs, keeping them open with his knees. Zemo was much more unphased than the other two, enjoying the show as one of Bucky’s loyal friends.
Bucky could hear your soft, unsteady breaths, and he stilled when your smaller hand grasped his.
“Leave them on, please,” you begged, tilting your head back to look him in the eyes before he could remove his rings.
“Of course, sweet girl.” Bucky planted a gentle kiss to your lips, deepening it to hear your soft moans.
“Oh my god, fuck,” one of the men moaned as they came, seeing your sex glisten as Bucky licked into your mouth sensually.
Bucky gently trailed his fingers through your folds, feeling how wet you were. He began to stroke your clit softly, listening to you whine.
He eased one of his large fingers into your tight entrance. You shuddered, your breath stuttering as you felt the cold metal against your hot pussy, your muscles squeezing around his finger.
“Does that feel good?” Zemo asked you as Bucky pushed two fingers inside of you, still teasing your clit to keep you relaxed.
“Answer him, doll,” Bucky commanded you sternly.
“Yes, sir,” you turned your head to look at Zemo, watching his hips fuck up into his hand.
“No, you keep touching yourselves. You’re not done until I’m done.” Bucky’s order was directed at Steve and Sam, who’s noises rose in pitch at the forced overstimulation. They were too afraid to disobey Bucky, knowing the consequences would be dire. Zemo knew this ahead of time, and was taking it much slower, still enjoying himself as he watched you writhe on Bucky’s lap.
Bucky kissed along your shoulder and neck, three fingers pumping slowly in and out of you. He expertly drew whines and moans of pleasure from you, and your legs were beginning to shake from the intensity.
The cold metal against your heat was driving you mad, making your eyes roll back in ecstasy. Your back arched off of Bucky’s chest, and he wrapped an arm around you to hold you against him. He still managed to stay calm enough to continue being gentle with you, leading you quickly toward a powerful orgasm.
“You must ask him before you let go, sweetheart,” Zemo informed you, and your broken whimper filled Bucky’s ears. He watched the other three men writhing in their own mind-blowing pleasure, all under the instruction of him.
“Please, Bucky, I need-” you cut yourself off with a strangled squeal as he curved his fingers forward inside of you.
“Let go, I’ve got you,” He said, kissing your cheek as he murmured the soft words. Your screams of white-hot pleasure filled the room, shaking and falling apart on his lap. A choked sob left your chest as he pulled out of you, his digits soaked in your come. He’d waited until you had fell down from your high, becoming relaxed in his arms.
He was whispering gentle praises in your ear as he slipped his fingers into your mouth to clean them off. You hollowed your cheeks, obediently cleaning him up and feeling the metal rings pressed against your lips. You were soothed by sucking off his fingers and the praises, melting into the mafia lord.
“I think I want to keep you.”

A FEAST - Azriel x readder. Prompt - Reader is injured and knocked out for days. Cassian gets him to finally leave your side for one meal and Nyx brings a guest with him...
"The Dragons Song is the best one, hands down." Nesta argued, hacking through the brush.  "That one is full of the same scenes every time." You judged, pushing a branch out of the way. The jungle was a mess of twists and turns to work through, but thankfully one of the fishermen on the dock had sold you a compass at a descent price. "A little more right for a few more miles and we'll be there." You steered her on course.  "At least it dosent say 'honeydew' every scene." She made a fake gagging noise and you laughed. The sound was muffled in the crowded forest. She hacked her way through the brush, one vine at a time. Until you finally reached the clearing. It was hot in the direct sun, a few degrees different than what the shade of the forest had been. You paced the perimiter, meeting her at the other side. "You mean Cassian dosen't like honeydew?" You wiggled your eyebrows at her.  "Az does?" She challenged, earning a laugh from you. "The ones that you like are predictable beyond measure." You countered, earning a quick smile before your attention snapped across the meadow. To a giant hog serpent with venomous tusks that gleamed with their clear liquid. You swore and you and Nesta both drew swords at the same time.  + Nesta ended the hog, but not before it had the chance for those razor sharp tusks to marr your legs with deep wounds. The venom stung, flowing into your bloodstream and paralyzing you slowly. You gasped at the sheer blinding pain it brought. "Nes-" You choked out between sobs. "Tell Az... Tell Az I love him." You smiled to her, putting a hand on her cheek. "No, no way. You're gonna tell him yourself. Stay awake. We're on the way." She reached deep to that bond to Cassian, and a flare of alertness greeted her. Then, a thrill of fire. "On the way. Rhys will be there in a few. Are you okay?" "Fine, she's delirious. She needs a healer and a detox for the venom." She thought back, sighing when she felt Rhys' presence. "Wheres Az?" You managed out of your chattering teeth. You were losing the fight against the venom quickly. It would have you under in a few minutes if Rhys didn't hurry to a healer. He placed a hand on you and darkness surrounded.  "Cassian will-" He started to Nesta, "I know, get her safe." She rushed, urging him to winnow you already. When Cassian saw the amount of blood spilled, he cursed.  "Most of it was the beast." Nesta cleaned her sword on an overgrown leaf that jutted down into the meadow.  Her hands shook when she sheathed it. "Nes." He stopped her when she turned. "Nes..." He repeated, giving her a long look. She tried to hide her face, the terror there. "Lets go." He pulled her to his side and took off, holding her close to him. He said nothing about the tears that flowed to his shoulder. He just gripped her tighter.   + Azriel had nearly broken the door when he stormed in. And he hadn't left your side since. Nesta stayed when she could, letting Azriel relax enough to sleep now and again. He trusted her to wake him if anything changed in your status.  When he woke, he heard his brother's voice first. Quiet an hurried in tone, him and Nesta argued by the door. "He wont leave. You've already tried, just leave him alone." Nesta was scolding. Cassian gripped her hands, then whipped his head over to his brother when he saw him stretching on the bench.  "Hey Az-" Cassian smiled, bounding over to his brother like a puppy. "You remmeber Madja saying it may take up to a week, right? How about you come to dinner up at the house with us."  "I dont want to miss if she-" "Come on, Nyx will be there. Mor's coming back from the continent tonight too." Cassian tempted, poking at the old flame Azriel carried for the female. She was still incredible, and one of Azriels best friends, but he no longer felt that flame towards her. You had come along and crushed it with a bat of your eyelashes and a few quick witted insults at Cas. Nesta started pulling him away, giving you an apologetic smile. "It would be nice for you to be there is all he means." She began pushing him out the door, despite his protests.  "Think about it! She wouldn't want you to be mourning while she's alive!" Cassian shouted, earning a smack from Nesta. Azriel smiled despite the dark nature of the situation. He pulled a chair up beside your resting body. It had been three days. How would he know if you were awake or not? He tugged on that dark link you shared together, and came up with the same unresponsiveness as before. He sighed, but took your hand anyway, falling asleep again to the sound of your soft breathing. + He decided to stay for just an hour. He would spare his family that much. He kissed you goodbye and tried his best to ignore the guilt he felt for leaving you behind. But Cassian was right. He knew that when you woke up you'd be upset about him not going. So he put on his brave face and flew up to the house of wind, to the joy of everyone. They clapped upon his arrival, making his cheeks burn. Mor gave him a hug and promised to catch up. But she hovered around a fae you hadn't met yet. A female that she watched with wide sparkling eyes. Azriel's chest bloomed with pride at the sight of them being so close, so full of life for each other.  He looked away from the two, and sent his shadows out to Rhys. And found what he was seeking. He darted over to the end of the table where the high lord and lady sat across from each other. The head table was empty, and filthy. "That's a small monster if I've ever seen one." He bent and scooped Nyx up from under the table. He wriggled and laughed.  "No monster Azzy." Nyx babbled, pulling on his uncle's hair.  "No pulling hair!" Rhys scolded, making Nyx laugh even more. Feyre sighed. "You're just having fun. How about we go for a fly down to-" "Don't say it, Az." Rhy's tone went from scolding to pleading. Even though the baby couldn't fly yet, it was one of his favorite things to do. He could see how Rhys' son would be skilled at flying with just the way he angled his head when accompanying. Az poked at Nyx's belly and they fought like that for a few moments, Nyx eventually winnowing away with the joy only a child could have.  Azriel froze, looking to the high lord and lady for comfort. Having a baby disappear in your arms was strange, even for Fae babies. "When'd he start doing that?" "Four days ago." Feyre sighed. She looked utterly exhausted. "We've been having to take turns staying up with him." Rhys held her hand across the table, they shared a sweet look together then they both whipped their heads to Nyx in unison. "Dont-" Feyre warned, giving her son a stern look as he pulled at the tablecloth. Amren gave the boy a look of discouragement as well when he looked around for someone to be laughing with him. He stopped after those silver eyes met his.  Nesta gave Az a smile from across the room where she and Cassian welcomed the toddoling boy. "Let's start training, Nyxie. Come on, show me what you got." Cassian got on his knees to the floor and the two began wrestling together. Azriel took a seat beside Rhys, picking at the crackers and cheese platter before him.  "When were we planning on going back to the Island?" Rhys asked, voice low. Cassian rolled with Nyx on the ground, making Nesta laugh when the boy pulled at Cas' hair. "I'm not going until my mate is healed. Maybe you should send them, see how much trouble they can get in."  Az asked, trying to keep the hinting out of his voice. He wanted to go take care of it on his own. The mission on the Island was not complete and he didn't want to risk anyone again. He'd rather do it and make sure it was a finished job. He couldn't bare to see you be hurt over a fellow Valkyrie getting hurt either. "You know they would kill each other.... or themselves trying to protect the other." Feyre smiled despite herself. She knew it was the truth. Her sister being happy for once was a joy like no other.  "Mom and Dad need to eat, Az you too." Cassian ordered. He bounced the boy on his legs, making him pretend fly. Azriel picked at the plate that appeared before him. The warm meat and stew looked incredible, but he couldn't bring himself to eat. The guilt was the only thing that weighed in his stomach. "I should go check on-" He began to say, folding his napkin back on the table. "How is she?" Cassian interrupted from the floor. Nesta was playing with Nyx now, rattling a toy around for him. Azriel kept his calm mask on, trying to fight the urge to check on you. The black haired boy looked to her with upset eyes. "Auntie?" He said, voice a bit whiny.  "Auntie is napping, she'll be back in a little while." Nes assured. Azriel's heart squeezed at the love Nyx showed. Then, the boy was gone.  The parents were digging into their plates. It was likely the only meal they'd shared together in the four days of taking turns watching Nyx. "Rhys-" Az began, terror sweeping his gut. Nyx was no where in sight. Nesta and Cassian both shot to their feet when they didn't spot him.  Then, the plates in front of Azriel clattered and shot food everywhere. Mor and her date yelped and fled their chairs, mor pushing the other female behind her. Azriel's shadows coiled, siphons glared ready to fight.  And Rhys didnt move as he observed the waking fae before him. The tug on Azriel's bond went taut. "Auntie here!" Nyx celebrated, patting your chest. You groaned and cracked open your eyes to see Azriel's shadows swirling about you. "Are you okay?!" Azriel gripped your shoulders,  his warm hands seeping into your thin shirt. The sweats you wore were now stained with whatever food had been on the table. Rhys put down his fork slowly. "I wasn't expecting to be this kind of snack Az..." You said softly. Rhy's cheeks went red. Mor laughed first, her date looked to her with bewilderment and worry. Cassian rushed over and picked Nyx up from your stomach. "I think there's a fork in my back." You said, voice gruff.  A hysterical laugh bubbled from Azriel, then the rest of them were cracking up. "Nyx... Thanks." Azriel breathed, and the boy began clapping.  + Once you were back on your feet and Madja had given you the go ahead to take it easy, you asked Azriel to go on a walk with you. The stretch of your legs was sore, but the good kind of sore that left you feeling better and better with each step. The cool wind from the Sidra whipped around you. He wrapped a wing around both of you as you reached the apex of a bridge.  "I owe that baby everything." He laughed, squeezing your hand tighter. The city was quiet, only soft music coming from the Rainbow and the calm trickle of the Sidra sounding out. "Nyx the Valkyrie deliverer."  You laughed together, leaning against the railing on the bridge. The streetlights above cast a wonderful color over you, illuminating you both in a silvery shade that matched the moonlight. "I love you." You said, resting your head against his shoulder. It had been a long night, and who knew how long of sleeping... but you were tired.  "Love you." He nudged you away so he could hook his finger under your chin and angle you up to kiss him. You wrapped your arms around him and compiled, letting the bond hum through you like a song.

Newcomer: Chapter 2
Pairing: Rafe Cameron x fem!Reader
Words: 2.3k
Summary: The Outer Banks was a place you’d only heard of until recently. The unfolding changes in your life had led you to this very moment, and it appears you still have much to learn...
Warnings: swearing, (***) minor time jumps
A/N - sorry for the delay, had a huge assignment due and work <3 I know this is a slow ass start to the series, but trust I’m trying to build momentum LMAO
Tumblr media
It had been just over a week, and seemingly still trying to settle in. Majority of your belongings, clothes and other sentiments have now been unpacked and neatly placed away in their new space, although you felt the hardest part wasn’t over just yet. Yourself, Caleb and Anya still struggled to find your way around town, mostly succumbing to the help of Topper, who despite initially being ever so welcoming, had grown slightly agitated from the coercion of having to always help. He’d be dragged out of whatever event or plans he had made, just to help out, especially during the grueling days of the unpacking stages of moving. Not to mention the not so discrete argument you’d overheard, just a few days ago, that he had with his mother, complaining about not being able to enjoy his own summer break.
You couldn’t deny that your presence did somewhat impede on his break, therefore, the guilt was there. You knew you’d have to start taking on some accountability, with or without Topper’s help.
“Y/N, can we just run to the store real quick, I need to grab a few things and you know how hopeless I am with directions…Please, come with, or else I’ll have to get Topper and we both know how much he loves-”
“Yeah, yeah-”
With a reluctant sigh, you tagged the page you’d just turned over in your book and propped yourself off the bed, adjusting your midi skirt before nodding in agreement.
One of the most convenient things about the Outer Banks was that nearly everything was within walking distance. It gave you a chance to explore the scenic landscape and water front, and perhaps even chat with a few of the locals you hadn’t yet properly met.
“So, how are things looking with that JJ guy? He seems pretty cute,” You intrigued, nudging your sister’s shoulder into conversation.
“Yeah he’s great actually, he's a really funny guy. He, uhm, he wants to meet but-”
“But what, Anya? That’s exciting! We sure could do with someone else’s company that isn’t Topper.”
“Yeah, I know but, I, well we, don’t really know him that well. Who’s to say he isn’t some sociopath, Y/N.”
“I highly doubt anyone around here is a psychopath, Anya. Look around, this is a place people come around to relax or retire.”
“Don’t speak too soon, Y/N…”
For some odd reason, you hesitated in a response. Anya was right, you had no familiarity with the people of Outer Banks, although it just seemed like an outrageous place for crime. Ever since arriving, you felt some unexplainable ease here.
“But I mean yeah sure. I’ll probably meet up with JJ some time… In public though, and you need to promise me that you’ll be on the lookout. Not like you’re busy with any plans at the moment, huh,” Anya remarks, as you appeasingly roll your eyes: God she could be so paranoid.
“Yeah, yeah. I promise. Think we turn right up ahead-”
Continuing right on the pathway, you could just faintly decipher the movement of people bustling in and out of the stores, and with that a wave of relief settled over you. Seemed like you knew your way around after all, having doubts along each turn of the walk.
“Make this quick, Anya, the sun’s starting to set, okay.”
“Whatever, Mum!” Anya quips, before rushing off into the convenience store, leaving your lonesome self outside waiting.
You watched the crowd across the street at the diner, enjoying their dinner, as you observed the locals in action, contemplating who was who, as you heard Evelyn exchange many names with your father over endless dinner conversations.
One name that stuck by you was “Cameron.”
Evelyn mentioned it countless of times, although you’d simply assumed they were one of the many well-known families that had established themselves in town. There wasn’t much else you knew, or wanted to know. You hardly met anyone else outside of the house, nor were you in any rush to.
“Hey!-”
Instantly snapping from your extensive thoughts, the familiar voice dragged you back to reality, as you turned your sight to its direction.
“It’s Y/N, right? Anya’s sister! It’s me, JJ, the waiter-”
“Yeah, of course, I remember you-”
As formal and proper as your manners from childhood were, just as you’d gone in for a handshake, JJ wrapped his arms around you, pulling you in warmly for a friendly embrace, before letting you go.
It had caught you off-guard, although not at all in a distasteful way.
“How are you? How’s Anya?” He asked, folding his arms as he leant against the wooden post of the front deck.
“Yeah we’re good! I’m sure Anya’s kept you posted, we’ve pretty much moved in now. How about you? I haven't seen you around.”
“Yeah, I’ve been pretty good! Oh that’s great to hear, that would mean you guys are free to come to the Boneyard tonight!”
“The what?”
“The Boneyard? Where we have this party with a kegger, Topper didn’t tell you?”
By the puzzled expression reeked across your face, JJ knew to take that as an immediate no, not questioning it any further.
“Well if you’d like, I could meet with you guys later and escort you there myself. There’s a few friends of mine I’d like to introduce you guys to.”
“Yeah, sure. That would be lovely, JJ-”
And as perfect as the timing could get, Anya returned from her little store run, stunned by JJ’s unexpected presence.
“Anya- I was just telling Y/N, I’d love to take you guys out tonight to the Boneyard, I was going to text you about it before, but something with my Dad-”
“That’s fine, but we just don’t know where exactly the Boneyard is.”
“That’s okay, JJ’s got us covered,” You exclaimed, before exchanging a friendly wink to JJ who just managed to catch it.
***
“You texted JJ our address right?” You persisted, growing anxious by the thought that perhaps JJ might’ve forgotten about you two.
“Yes, for the last time Y/N could you just relax. He should be here any minute now!”
And just on cue, in the close distance, the roaring sound of an old engine with dull headlights belonging to one of those old, retro “hippie” vans had pulled up through your drive-way. JJ’s head popped out excitedly by the window, waving for you guys to join, and immediately you both walked over.
It was difficult to convince your father of going out tonight, in fact, he’d been pestering you both to get out and mingle. As soon as you’d both approached him with the idea of heading out to some party, he leaped with relief, and encouraged you both to take up the offer. He was easy going like that, trusted you both knowing how well he’d raised you both. Of course, he covered some basic ground-rules: no drinking, no drugs, no smoking.
By the time you’d both arrived to the van, you could just make out the silhouettes of some figures inside the van through the grimey windows. JJ was out of the van, as the courteous man that he was, pulling the side door right open.
“John B-” Pointing to the boy on the driver’s seat, who gave you a friendly wave, made himself known.
“Kie-” A lovely, young girl, exchanged a gracious smile and nod to both Anya and yourself, before JJ finally introduced “And this is Pope-”, a young, pleasant man sat beside Kie.
“Guys this is Anya, and her older sister Y/N. They just moved here like a week ago.”
“Nice to meet you all, thanks for letting us join you guys tonight-” You warmly proclaimed, before gesturing Anya into the van with you following her behind.
As JJ was carefully closing the door behind you, John B mentioned how JJ spoke of you two, confessing you to be the “mystery newcomers” before kindly welcoming you to the Outer Banks.
You felt Kie’s over gaze fall between yourself and Anya, and felt somewhat intimidated, although it there was no threatening intent to it, however more of a protective sentiment.
“So you guys are Kooks, huh?” Kie blatantly questioned, before Pope nudged his elbow into her, as though to signal her to stop whatever interrogation she had planned.
“Sorry, what?”- Anya questioned in response, frowning as she looked around the van, back to you.
“Kie, stop. They don’t know about any of that stuff. Just drop it, okay!” JJ insisted, as he ran his fingers through his blonde locks, almost in frustration.
“We really have no idea what this whole Pogue-Kook business is, but perhaps you could enlighten us one day, Kie-” You suggested, as amiable as possible, not wanting to already cross the line with the few locals you’d just met.
“I sure will, I just can’t believe you guys live with Topper. He’s such an-”
“Ass?-” Anya intervened, finishing off Kie’s sentence precisely the way she intended, making Kie smile in agreement.
“Yeah, I don’t think he likes us very much,” Anya confessed, and as much as you hated “gossiping”, you couldn’t deny this one.
“Well Kie, you’re on to talk… What about your Kook year?” John B laughingly mocked, as Kie infuriatingly shoved his shoulder.
“S-So what exactly is the difference between a Pogue and a Kook?” You intriguingly questioned, shifting your gaze from Kie to Pope.
“Well, to put it short, Pogues live on the Cut, which I assume Topper would rather die than enter. Whereas yourselves and our Kie here, live on Figure 8,” Pope answered.
“So it’s just a social class thing?” You quipped, being reminded again of how very unprogressive things were around the Outer Banks.
“Exactly!-” Kie shouted, a hint of relief, as though finally finding someone who’d shared mutual understanding with her cause.
“I mean there’s more to it-” JJ added.
“But it’s best if you guys don’t get as involved, your only just new here-” He calmly reassured.
“Just keep an eye out for the Kooks, they usually come to these sort of events anyways for the booze they can’t afford-” Kie ridiculed.
“Yeah, especially Rafe-” Pope uttered, his tone reeking of bitterness to the name.
“Wait-Who exactly is that? The name just sounds familiar-” You brush off, not wanting to vex Pope any further.
“Good God, he’s the worst of the worst-” Pope scorned.
“An asshole-” Kie provoked.
“He’s the older brother of Sarah Cameron, I’m sure you’ve met her. She’s Topper’s girlfriend,” John B confessed.
“HA! Topper has a girlfriend, since when?!” Anya broke out mockingly laughing: as Kie and JJ chuckled to her comedic outburst.
“He must be that bad, huh?” You uttered, as the rest began to settle themselves.
“He’s a terrible person, Y/N. If I was you guys, I’d avoid him at all costs,-” Pope insisted, although by the seriousness of his voice, it seemed more of a warning than anything.
***
The Boneyard was a secluded location of the island, where the ashy white trunks of dead logs were arranged in a way to accompany large crowds, and rowdy parties far from the complaints of the adults. As you’d all arrived, kegs ready at the hand, the party had already commenced, as people from which John B described had consisted of Pogues, Kook and tourists. Regardless, all strangers to you.
As you finally eased yourself into that party mood, you found yourself enjoying the company of the Pogues, they were quite the friendly bunch. And it seemed ANya was letting loose as well, no thanks to her new-found companions: it always seemed like an impossible mission for Anya to enjoy herself, although witnessing her from the standpoint of a bystander, you felt comforted.
“I’m just going to go grab myself a drink-” You assured John B, as he nodded in agreement.
As you crammed yourself through the crowd, you felt a tight grip pulling on your elbow, making you topple in the direction of whomever it was that grabbed you.
“Topper, what the fuck?”
“How the hell did you get here, let alone find out about this?” He exclaimed, by the faint smell of the beer oozing with each breath, you could tell he was slowly becoming intoxicated.
“No thanks to you-” You snapped, before jolting your arm out of his strained grip.
“Seriously, Y/N. Does your Dad even know you’re here?”
Before you could even respond, some sort of internal sixth sense, felt an intense pair of eyes on you. As you shifted your gaze, to a bunch of people standing behind Topper, you’d immediately recognised his face.
For some odd reason you felt a shiver crawl down your spine, as though in fright of seeing some ghostly figure. His intense, blue eyes just fixated on you and only you, as he took sips of his drink, with one hand snugged away in a front pocket. It seemed he was in conversation with a bunch of other guys, all dressed quite similarly to one another in their polo shirts and summer shorts, and yet he was not at all engaged... Only to you.
“Earth to Y/N!” Topper loudly interjected, stirring you to snap back, as you fixed your view on him.
“Y-Yes, yes he does. Now could you just let me be?”
And before you knew it, you instinctively stormed off, before Topper had the chance to drunkenly question you any longer. As you disappeared into the crowd, heading for the kegger, your mind persisted in contemplation.
That was Rafe, surely. You vividly remembered the whole, minor incident during your first encounter with him.
After what the Pogues had confessed about him, and by his looming nature, you’d never felt so unnerved by someone, you’d in fact, never even met.
But why?

Hi welcome back! Hope you’re doing well. Random question b4 my request, bc I want to give back as thanks for the great writing: are you a coffee, tea, or hot chocolate/cocoa drinker? I prefer hot chocolate and sweet tea.
How would the m9 respond to an SO/friend with a kid? Where the reader is a single parent with a child of at most 10 years old. Thanks :)
- 🐋
This took a while to write so sorry for that 😅. I'm so glad you like my writing! I love writing for you lot. I'm definitely a hot cocoa person. I hope this one turned out to your liking 😘.
----------
Caleb:
You never hid the fact you had a child from Caleb, if anything you’re proud of them. Though, you do know in certain company it’s better to keep that fact a secret for safety reasons. Caleb understands that fully he respects and admires you always put your child’s best interests first.
This is why when you began getting more involved with Caleb you kept your child out of it and took a good amount of time before introducing them to the wizard. You didn’t want to set expectations for both sides and wanted to protect and preserve them both should what you and Caleb had going not work out after all.
It’s no surprise Caleb is good with children. He takes a gentle approach when it comes to all things good in this world to the point of almost being afraid to ‘ruin it’. You assured him many times he was in the clear and how could his heart not warm at the curiosity and search for knowledge your child was already displaying.
With your permission Caleb began teaching your child some things here and there. The theoretics of magic and eventually simple spells. The smile it brought to their faces while they worked couldn’t make you happier. Caleb definitely earned your child’s approval to stick around.
Beau:
At first Beau is surprised. She knows children come from somewhere of course. She’s not stupid but actually tying a child to their parent let alone being very close to that parent is a whole new story. Especially learning you raised your child on your own and seeing you want to provide what’s best for them definitely earns you her respect, not having a parent with the same motivation herself and all.
The day of introductions came along and as expected Beau is the most awkward, trying not to be a terrible influence and be on her best behaviour, makes her very much on edge. An perceptive child picking up on this awkward behaviour calling her out leaving her cursing like a sailor, then apologising for said curses, even less of a surprise. You had to assure her many times it was fine.
Beau makes a promise that no matter what, she’ll make sure you’ll be returning to your child and make sure they get the love and support they deserve. Growing up without loving parents is one thing. Growing up an orphan another. She’d do everything in her power to keep you safe.
It may have began with joking comments such as ‘finish your homework’ to ‘do the dishes’ and ‘be nice to your parent while I’m gone’ but it didn’t take long before Beau was helping them with their homework or cleaning dishes after you cooked.
Absolutely treats your child as someone capable of making decisions of their own and speaking for themselves. No baby voices or cooing like too many adults tend to do even to a child regardless of their age. Your child has thoughts and opinions of their own and for the love of all that is sacred, can speak for themselves. You’re glad Beau treats them with a sense of maturity.
Fjord:
Fjord may have done what can only be referred to as a spit take the moment you said you had a child. Clearly didn’t expect it but giving him time to recover and process he’d ask all sorts of questions. What are they like? What do they like? And of course the dreaded question about your partner.
Supportive Fjord for the win. After finding out you’re on your own he’d always have your back, checking in with you and making sure you’re doing alright amidst the stress of the world and raising a child in the mix of it all. He’d open up to you about his past and being raised without any kind of proper parental figure. What he wouldn’t have done to have someone like you around when it counted for him.
Introducing them went rather smoothly. Fjord is surprisingly good with children. While some might find him intimidating, he nearly melted when your child embraced him as a thank you for looking out for you. Fjord was happy to answer any and all questions your child asked.
Whenever you’d be swept away for a while having to leave your child in the care of your trusted ones, Fjord would tell your child to ‘have the wheel, sailor’ which they would return with a salute before biding you both goodbye. Fjord slowly transcended into a bit of a father role and none of you minded in the least. You were happy.
Veth:
When she spoke of her boy she left behind you pitied her. A child shouldn’t be without their family. They deserved to be loved and sheltered from the darkness of the world until they are ready. When you told her you had one of your own Veth really felt safe to confide in you with her worries and troubles. You bonded over it really, drowning out all the sad stories and struggles with fond memories of both your families. Sadly for you, that would only extend to you and your child, the memories of their other parent perhaps somewhat painful to share.
You wondered what it would be like if your children ever got to meet in person. Then the day came. Nicodranas really had a way of bringing families together didn’t it? First time may have been a bit strange, your child being fully aware of Veth’s need for a disguise with her son, played their part well. Both you and Veth may have wiped away some tears when Luc claimed your child their big sibling from now on, and you his third parent.
Work and life are a difficult combination for Veth. She wants nothing more than to be with Yeza and take care of her boy but as long as the world’s in peril and her other family needs her just as much if not more, she’ll have to leave them behind. Knowing that you and your child are with her husband and son when she can’t be eases her mind a lot and she’s forever grateful.
It goes unsaid that Veth’s time away from children and in the presence of adults, specifically the Mighty Nein may have left her a bit out of the routines of raising a child as shown by giving Luc and your child fireworks, promising them to teach them how to shoot a crossbow and more. You did have to hold her back a little with the help of Yeza and keep things a bit more contained for their safety, but mostly yours.
Jester:
Of course upon learning you’re raising your child all by yourself Jester goes onto a rant about how her and her mom were always alone and how Marion used to read stories to her and do you read stories to your child and do you sing to them and draw with them and give them hugs and cuddles after nightmares and… You have no idea how that girl doesn’t run out of breath.
Jester couldn’t be anyone but herself when meeting your child asking about their interests, do they like to draw and sing and dance and… You ran out of breath just listening to her talk and your child replying in similar fashion. Everything went quite well and the two of them got along. Jester would be singing them songs and teaching them how to draw resulting in many dick drawings randomly appearing in your books, notes and other places, followed by mischievous giggles.
Having bought your child a lovely green cloak and letting them pretend they’re the Traveler here to spread mischief and fun and leave behind many phallic shaped objects drawn and carved wherever possible sent you all in laughing fits but you swore you heard a more masculine chuckle and saw a green cloak fade into the shadows. Odd.
What only can be summed up as the combination between big sibling, fun wine cupcake aunt and mom, remained a constant in your life and you couldn’t be more thankful to have that ray of sunshine be there for all of you.
Caduceus:
Caduceus is very calm and collected about learning you have a child. Less of a response than perhaps anyone else perviously unknowing. “That’s nice.” He’d nod. You’d almost start thinking he may have been able to read it off you for some reason. He confirmed he was, the tired eyes, and the recovery of exasperation at times but sense of accomplishment and reward was a look he had seen from his own mother many times.
“You’re weird.” A stare down ensued. “You’re weird too.” Eyes sharpened. “I like you.” The ice broke and smiles followed. For a moment you were afraid that maybe your child wouldn’t like the odd firbolg and thinking about how you would keep friends and family separate but a wave of relief went over you knowing that all was well between the two most valuable people in your life.
You’d be handed a fresh cup of tea by your child, a plate of snacks by Caduceus, all too innocent smiles on their faces but all it took was a raised eyebrow from you to have them come clean about the kitchen being covered in soil from the two of them potting new plants, turning your home and garden in what can only be described as a greenhouse and rather ask for forgiveness than permission. You weren’t mad of course, but did make them clean the mess they made.
You’re still unsure whether or not it was a good or bad idea introducing your child to the extended Clay family as you got some insight in the chaotic prank wars between the siblings and all together sibling rivalry among some of them. It’s all fun and games of course but some moments you were glad you weren’t the one pelted with mud pies by Calliope or pushed into the spring by Calliope herself. Instead you could just enjoy Clarabelle’s bug collection with your child while laughing at the other’s being covered in mud and soaked to the bone.
Yasha:
Poor Yasha doesn’t recall much of a family. In reality she never really felt like she had one until the circus, and after them the Nein. When she saw you and your child together, the unconditional love you had for each other, she felt like she finally realised what she had been missing, and something she perhaps would never have. She learned the value of such a relationship.
Yasha has no idea how to interact with children at any level and by default tends to treat them as either adults, or cute animals. No in between. It took her some time to get the hang of it but you couldn’t deny both you and your child rather enjoyed the unconventional relationship.
The wastes and hardships of Xhorhas may force a child to grow up quickly in the tribes but that doesn’t mean children outside of those regions have to learn how to wield a sword and what bugs you can and cannot eat or how to best skin an animal before eating it… It took some convincing why that was not a necessary skill to learn at the tender age of ten.
You compromised with Yasha on the fighting in the end, persuaded by the woman and your child to allow her to teach them some fighting basics because someone’ has to have your back when Yasha’s not there. You did manage to hold them off on purchasing a sword perhaps too large for your child despite the ‘they’ll grow into it’ reasoning and instead settled on training equipment instead.
Mollymauk:
Oh Mollymauk, nothing surprises this one. He felt rather sorry for you going through the struggles of raising a child alone. He may not remember his own family but he’s traveled far and wide enough to know the hardships. He knows poor Toya and he admires you for being able to do what so many can’t or won’t.
It goes unsaid that Molly is perhaps the worst of influences when it comes to people but you’ve seen him interact with Toya before and know well enough he’s a kind and caring soul who wants only the best for those who can’t just yet fend for themselves. It’s a good foundation that leads to a better person. He jokingly claims himself proof of that through the carnival and him ‘being an absolute asshole’.
Molly’s soft side really does come out whenever he’s around your child. He doesn’t deliberately censor himself but tries to contain certain words and avoid certain subjects that should never be discussed around your child knowing you’d appreciate it and if he does let something slip and your child ask questions he’d gently explain it as certain things should definitely not be described in gory detail to someone of their age.
This circus man is not afraid to put on a show in any circumstance and will happily do so to cheer you or your child up whenever you’re feeling a bit down or overworked. Whether he’s making a fool of himself, giving you bogus card readings, juggle his swords or tell the most ridiculous stories ever he’d do it without a second thought because it brings you and your child joy. You’re part of his family and he’d go to hell and back again for you.

 secrets, secrets, secrets | childe
Tumblr media
A/n: to the anon who requested this, I loved writing this so much! I enjoyed adding scaramouche to spice things up- because as you can see I love that man and I feel as though he loves to get childe in trouble... the end is kinda rushed, because in the middle of writing this my mom ran out of gas and I had to drive to her, hence the reason this is late again. I think I may do a part two of some sort, because this feels unfinished to me 😔 anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Summary: childe is very secretive, which you respected, but it was tiring trying to learn more about him when he was so blocked off. your worst nightmare came true when you find out he’s one of the people you hate the most.
Parings: Childe/Fem! Reader
Warnings: lies/secrets, angst, swearing

There was always something stopping you from learning more about Childe, whether it be his busy schedule or by his own choice.
“Do you think one day I could meet your parents and siblings?” You asked one evening after a nice dinner.
“You’ve already met Teucer.” Was his reply. And although yes, that was true, why couldn’t you meet his other family members? Teucer was a sweetheart, you were sure the rest would be as well.
You vaguely remember him mentioning more siblings, not just little Teucer, so he definitely did have more. “Yes, but you have more siblings, correct?” He nodded.
“I’ve never met them or your parents, I would love to.”
“Perhaps another time.”
“You always say that...”
-
“Can I please come with you?” You begged at the door, watching as your lover buckled his boots, readying himself for another adventure. One that you couldn’t go on for unknown reasons. “On your way to wherever you’re going, I could visit Qingce Village, I’ve read it’s beautiful around this time.”
“You should stay here.” He said.
“But why?” Your frown deepened.
“Well, for one, the meeting I have to attend is going to be pretty boring, you’d be waiting alone for forever.”
“Childe, please,” You whined, he didn’t budge, only offered you a soft smile. “I promise I won’t get bored. There’s so much I’d like to see!”
“Sorry, sweetheart, I’d feel better if you stayed here,” And with that, he finished buckling up his boots and headed towards the door. “I can take you another time.” You sighed, head lowered as he leaned down to kiss your cheek, before heading out.
“But that doesn’t make any sense at all, you’re going now...” You whispered under your breath, confused and sad.
Why not now? You wouldn’t mind waiting, after all, there would be so much to see at Qingce Village since you’ve never been before. You would’ve had a blast exploring the area, maybe meeting some new people too...
But, instead, you have to stay put here.
The rest of the evening you busied yourself by visiting the harbor. You picked up some ingredients to make some treats later, seeing as though you were bored and always loved to cook to pass time. You were on your way back to your home when you bumped into a hard body, sending you flying to the ground, as well as your ingredients which spilled out of your satin pouch.
“Watch where you’re going- Oh,” The unfamiliar voice harshly said, stopping momentarily, soon a face came into view to match the voice.
He was a handsome young man, wearing a large hat that jingled when he bent down to offer you his hand, violet hues boring into your own. Despite him being a stranger, you took his hand nonetheless and allowed him to help you up. His hand sent tingles down your spine, warm but spine chilling at the same time. An odd and somewhat overwhelming feeling.
The man bowed his head in respect, meanwhile, flustered, you began picking up the fallen items on the ground. “I’m so sorry miss, I should’ve been paying attention to where I was going.”
“No, it was all my fault, I was sidetracked.” You explained, thanking him when he handed over the flour that had fallen.
“Are you alright?”
“Yes, I’m fine, thank you.” He smiled again kindly.
You realized you’ve never seen him before, if you had, surely the hat would’ve been something you remembered. It was striking, clearly the first thing you saw when he came into your line of view. But it was unfamiliar, odd as well...
“I’ve never seen you before. You’re not from here, are you?” You asked.
“No, I’m a Vagrant of Inazuma.”
Your eyes widened, “Wow, all the way across the ocean?”
He nodded. “Wow.” You were amazed. You’ve never met a traveler from Inazuma, seeing as though the region was under tight border restrictions and whatnot. How did he get here? Did he flee?
“Are you here on business?”
He continued to answer your questions, though they were typically short and kindly straight to the point. You figured he had somewhere urgently to be, perhaps sooner rather than later. But he was an interesting fellow. And, you were quite bored.
“I’m sorry I’m taking up all your time, I’m sure you have somewhere to be.”
“No worries! I don’t mind talking to a beautiful woman such as yourself.” He said cheerfully.
“Ahh,” Your face heated up at the mere comment. “Hey, perhaps are you traveling to Qingce Village or nearby?
He gave you a questioning look, but nonetheless answered with, “I am, Wuwang Hill to be exact.”
You gasped. “Can I travel with you?!” Another questioning glance.
“You see, my boyfriend wouldn’t let me travel with him, but I just wanted to visit Qingce Village. He’s always so protective for no reason,” You explained, carrying on longer than you should have been. “Stupid Childe...” You muttered.
You missed the distaste in his eyes at the mention of your lover.
“Childe? Ah, I know Childe.”
“You do?!”
“He’s a business partner.”
“So you’re friends? That’s great news!”
“Acquaintances.”
“If you work together, he must trust you!”
“More or less.”
What in the world was going on?
When the man, who you now knew as Scaramouche, agreed to let you travel with him you never expected to run into Childe, ever. You were smart enough to put two and two together, and realize the pair did have business together. Though, it took a little longer for you to realize what kind of business.
Only when you saw fatui standing nearby, Childe seeming to be directing orders at them... Like he was their boss or something...
“Childe?” The man in question nearly froze on the spot, eyes traveling over to where he saw you standing beside Scaramouche.
He was quick to finish up what he was saying before running over to you. “Hey,” He said softly, despite the look of panic on his face. “What’re you doing here?”
“I wanted to see Qingce Village...”
“I told you I would take you another day,” He said, eyes landing on the man next to you. “Why are you with him?”
“He said he worked with you, so I trusted him...”
“Oh, yes well, that is true-”
“So then what's this? Do you work with the fatui?”
Scaramouche was practically grinning ear to ear, though it went completely missed by you, only focusing on the man in front of you. Of course, he only agreed to take you with him so he could expose his fellow fatui as what he truly was. He enjoyed this greatly, he had no shame about who he was or who he worked with. So, why did he?
“You know I feel about them, so what’re you doing?!” Scaramouche heard your voice yell.
”I’m trying to keep you safe!” The older harbinger rolled his eyes, nonsense.
“No, get off of me!” Scaramouche’s grin only grew. So, this wasn’t a complete waste of his time... he got something out of it.
“Oh Archons, I think I’m going to be sick...” Scaramouche watched as you stormed off, Childe tried to follow you but you snapped, “Childe get away from me!” Which caused the young harbinger to cease his actions.
Once you were gone from his sight, Childe turned to Scaramouche, eyes cold. The eldest just smirked.
“Why did you bring her here,” Childe demanded.
“I figured you’d enjoy a visit from her.” Bullshit.
“You knew she didn’t know about me being a harbinger.”
Scaramouche smirked, staring into blue cerulean eyes.
“And, so what if I did?”

Venti x Fem!Reader - Wherever The Wind Blows
Tumblr media
A/N-FLYING LOVE CONFESSION SCENE GO BRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Trigger/Content Warnings: Abusive/overbearing parents, spoilers, kidnapping
Word Count: 2,875
Request: No
Summary: You, a sheltered daughter of rich parents, longed for freedom more than anything else. A boy came along, promising freedom with his every breath
------------------------------------------
Your parents had been overbearing since your birth. (Y/N), don’t go in the streets! (Y/N), don’t touch that! (Y/N), stay inside!
You were never sure why, but you always complied. Seeing your parents' eyes fill with tears when you got an injury as little as a scraped knee kept you in line. It wasn’t that they didn’t love you... you were pretty sure they loved you, at least.
As the only child in your family, you were protected. You grew up surrounded by well-vetted maids and kind ‘strangers’. You were naive, you were innocent, you were gullible.
And most of all, you were rich.
Deep in your heart, you knew there was more to life than this. There were birds who chirped in the sky and wind that knocked you off your feet. You had read all of the stories of adventures and Archons - you nearly had them memorized.
On your 16th birthday, as you sat in your bay window in your room on the highest floor of your manor, you felt resolve bury itself inside of you.
It took 2 weeks for you to come up with a plan to sneak out, and another 4 weeks for you to build the confidence to actually do it.
And as you snuck between shadows and outside the doors, you almost couldn’t believe it. You wore a dark black cape and flipped the hood up. Freedom truly was here.
You picked up your skirts and let adrenaline push through your veins as you ran until you caught sight of a magnificent tree. You walked to the tree and sat on the grass, feeling the dirt between your fingertips and the cold air biting your skin.
As you pushed the hood down, you couldn’t help but cry out in glee. Freedom.
No more memorizing books from cover to cover or breathing on your hands pretending it was the wind. True freedom, true choice, true Teyvat. All of it was right here, underneath your fingertips! What would you do first? Sneak a sip of wine? Learn to fight like in the adventures you loved oh so much?
You lied down, smiling widely until you heard soft bouncing. You pulled yourself up and saw a small blue ball begin to approach you, water trailing behind it.
“Hello, friend.” You crawled towards the ball, “What are you?”
The ball didn’t respond and instead continued bouncing towards you. You thought for a moment, trying to recall anything resembling it from your books.
“A small blue ball... with water...” You jumped to feet as you remembered Slimes - a fearsome beast who lived outside your manors walls. How they tore wartorn fighters into shreds, but they had a preference for young girls with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes. You shrieked and began to run away, but tripped over the tree's roots.
“Dost the lady require assistance? Luckily, the bard can help with no resistance!” An arrow struck the slime to the ground. You looked up to your savior and saw a boy jump from the tree you were sitting under and smile at you, extending his hand to help you up. “Are you alright?”
You gripped onto the boy's hands and looked him up and down. A boy - no shorter than 5′2, no taller than 5′4 - with black hair that melted into two light-blue braids, a Cecilia stuck into his baret. “How can I thank you for this deed?”
He looked at you with wide eyes before laughing and pulling out of your grasp,
“My names Venti. What’s yours?”
“(Y/N) (L/N).”
“Ehe, (Y/N), you can buy me an apple... or two.”
“If that’s all it takes.”
He escorted you to Mondstadt, happily chatting about whatever topic came to mind. When you arrived in the city, you couldn’t hide your surprise. You froze in your steps and watched the candles in the windows blow out, drunks merrily singing songs while collapsed on the ground. Even children calling out for strangers to buy their newest stock.
“Woah...”
“(Y/N)?” Venti turned when he noticed you weren’t walking by his side. When he saw the wonder in your eyes, he smiled and stood next to you, “Beautiful, isn’t it?”
“Where... where are we?”
“Mondstadt, city of freedom and wind.”
“Freedom...” you repeated. You turned to Venti, “Is it true? Every citizen here is free? Can I... can I be free?”
“Do you want to be?”
“It’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
He grabbed your hand and dragged you through the crowds, “I’ll have to give you a tour of the city of freedom myself!”
You spent the night avoiding cats, watching Venti sing songs for cheering onlookers, and trying to bite down the guilt you felt. As the sun began to rise, you watched the sky paint itself orange and red from the ground.
Freedom will never be your reality.
Tears slipped down your cheeks as you prayed that you’d get home in time. You stood, flipped your hood up, and turned away from Venti, “Goodbye, Venti. Tonight was... tonight was fun.”
Venti quickly jumped to his feet and grabbed your hand, “Where are you going?”
It only took a light tug to free your hand from Ventis, “Where I belong.”
You began the trek home, trying to ignore the feeling of Venti's eyes boring into your back. As you walked, you wiped the tears out of your eyes and pretended you were happy with this.
You were naive, innocent, and gullible. You needed your parents to protect you from this cruel world, freedom was not a right. You needed to be safe, you needed to observe the world from your window. May the wind never blow on your skin again.
May you never hear children's laughter echoing in the streets, may you never sing along to the story of a drunk, may you never watch the sunrise.
As you reached your family's manor, you didn’t even need to come to the door to be met with your parents' arms. They smothered you with their fear and asked why you left.
“I don’t remember why.” Is the only answer you could muster.
“Do you see why you are to never leave this house?” Your mom asked, gripping onto your shoulders.
“We’re just trying to protect you.” Your father agreed.
You nodded, “I understand everything.”
Fate spared no mercy; it didn’t care for your emotions. It didn’t cry as you sat on your bed and watched the sun with hollow eyes.
Fate was cruel. Curiosity was crueler.
You tried to seek for anger deep inside of you, you hoped to curse the name of the Bard who showed you a taste of freedom. But all you could do was watch the world twirl on without you.
In Mondstadt, the drunks would simply drink another night away, the children would sing and dance, the Bard would bring smiles to another's face. But it would never be yours.
You spent many days trying to push the memories of freedom out of your head, but every night when your thoughts were your only company you simply couldn’t forget the happiness you felt.
It was on one of these nights when something tapped against your window. You groggily got out of bed, pulled the curtains back, and gasped when you saw aqua eyes.
He motioned for you to open the window, you shook your head and tried to explain that none of the windows open. He leaned back in thought, his body twirling through the air as if it were a pool. After a few moments, he smiled, winked, and disappeared from your view.
You stood there, blinking, trying to figure out if you were dreaming or not. A few moments passed and the next thing you knew, your door was swinging open. You turned and looked at the Bard who did the unthinkable; got into your home.
“H-How did you...?” You spoke in a harsh whisper.
“Ehe, call it beginners luck.” He walked over to you, a lyre appearing in his hands. “You never did tell me where you were going.”
“What... what are you talking about?”
“2? 3 weeks ago? I can’t recall, but I had asked where you’re going and you didn’t respond.”
You shook the disbelief away, “Didn’t I say I was going home?”
He looked around the room, “This is what you call home?”
You were conflicted. Home? What was home, really? You lived here, but was it your home?
Venti walked towards you, outstretched his hands, and winked, “Can I take you home?”
Tears filled your eyes. “M-my parents... they’ll be so scared...”
The kindness in his eyes was replaced by sympathy, “You stay here under someone else's fear? That isn’t freedom.”
Anger bubbled in your chest as tears fell down your cheeks, “I know! I know. I...” you took a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled, I just want...”
“What do you truly want?”
You turned away from him and sat at your bay window, your voice was no louder than a whisper in a storm yet Venti could hear it clear as day, “I want to hear the birds sing. I want to feel the wind. I want to pick flowers. I want...” you looked at your hands, “I want to be free.”
He walked over and sat down next to you, “I understand how you feel. Why don’t you come with me, I can help you get your freedom. Or at least, get out of here.”
You pulled your knees up to your chest and hugged them, “I can’t leave my parents here. They... I don’t know. They’re always right. The world is dangerous and scary. I’m just a naive kid, I always need someone to protect me-”
“Alright. That does it.”
“W-What?”
He stood up, brushed his hands on his pants, and smiled, “I’ll protect you. In exchange, you have to experience freedom.”
“When would... no! How would that even work?”
“I can take you out when it’s night, all you’d have to do is close your eyes for a moment. Oh, and get your window to open.”
“Venti...” You looked up at him.
“Now, stop crying, ehe!”
And just like that, he was gone. You spent the next few weeks begging your parents to let your window open, and finally, they caved.
They decided to construct a small balcony that you had to open your window to reach. It didn’t take long for construction to end, and after they were pleased with the safety of it, they let you use it. After all, they’d rather you sit in the window than go out on your own again.
You spent every night on the balcony, waiting to see the boy reappear. And every night he did. He’d grab onto your waist, tell you to close your eyes, and would take you into the city.
As time passed, you grew more and more thankful for the boy. He’d sing you a new song, would show you how to climb the large Barbatos statue, and even spent time teaching you how to shoot a bow.
You were happy, you were free. You began to learn to trust yourself and your decisions, you didn’t rely on his bow or quick wit, you relied on yourself. So, when Venti said he was going to leave you alone for a moment, you weren’t scared.
Sure, you still wore your nightgowns which were easier more mora than what the entirety of Mondstadt had. You’d never seen a real fight, nothing more dangerous than slimes. Nothing that fought with the intent to kill. And, of course, you didn’t notice the subtle ways Venti kept his promise of protecting you. The way he’d direct you to the other side of the road if he saw someone he didn’t know or the way he’d distract you if he saw a Fatui member walking in your direction. And, the biggest one, he never took you out of the city.
He knew Mondstadt in and out, every time he left your side he made sure he kept an eye on you. And, yes, he was distracted that day. He forgot the depths of innocence one could have when they were born as a trophy. But, surely, nobody would walk off with a stranger at the promise of a secret. Surely, nobody could tell this complete stranger how deep your family's pockets were lined or where you lived. Surely, anybody could tell why Venti was trying to keep that a secret.
Maybe he was the naive one out of the two of you. Maybe he got so caught up in pretending that he was someone who could protect you, that he forgot what it means to protect.
While his back was turned, everything collapsed. Was it the stranger's smile? Was it their charming voice? Was it the kindness in their eyes? What about them made you trust them?
Venti could almost remember seeing your hair behind you as you slipped into the crowd. He could almost feel the Cecilia's fall from his fingers. He could almost hear his footsteps pound against the ground as he pushed through the crowd. But when he crossed to the other side, you were gone.
Just like before, nothing ever changes. No matter if he were Barbatos, Venti, or a mere wind spirit. He could never protect the ones he cares about. He could never show them the freedom they longed for as he listened to their wishes.
He didn’t fall to his knees or shed a tear. He let his hands fall to his sides as the memories replayed in his head on loop.
When your parents woke up, there was a note pinned to their door with a knife. It demanded 50 million mora for your life, delivered under the bridge to Mondstadt. They paid it within hours and when you were given to your parents, they made instant changes.
Chains attached your ankle to your bed, whatever freedom you had left was ripped from you once again.
You’d watch the moon from your bedroom every night. You trusted in yourself and where it’d get you? Tied up and being ransomed back to your parents.
Freedom, you decided, was a lie. Just another fantastical song Venti would twist into something realistic.
“Venti...” you lied on your bed, curled into a ball as tears soaked your pillow, “I miss you.”
You missed the wind, you missed his gentle songs, you missed the way your fingers would ache after you’d pull the bowstring back.
Tap, tap, tap
You sat up and looked at your window, surprised to see Venti smiling at you. You got up and tried to run to the window, but the chain on your ankle stopped you as you were mere inches away. You motioned to the chain on your ankle. He nodded, disappeared from your view, and a few moments later appeared at your room.
“How do you keep doing that?” You laughed, relieved to see the boy.
“Ehe, I’ll never tell.” He walked towards the chain on your bed and looked at it dubiously, “Hmm...”
“Don’t even bother. There’s no way to get it off without the key.”
“And where is the key?”
“I think my Father has it.”
Venti stood upright and winked at you, “My fair maiden of the tower, you will be free within the hour.”
And just like that, he was gone. You sat for a few minutes in silence, then you heard a loud bang, yelling, laughing, and the sound of someone running up the stairs. You sat on your bed in alarm as Venti barreled into your room and pushed your bookcase in front of the door. On the other side, you heard your Father yelling.
“What did you do?!” You shrieked.
“I got the key!” He beamed, breathing heavily. After a few seconds to catch his breath, he quickly went to the chains around your ankle, unlocked them, and let them fall to the floor.
“Venti, what are we going to do?” You looked between the window with a who-knows-how-far drop and your door which almost certainly held Venti's demise if your parents got in.
“Well,” he walked over to your window and threw it open, “We’re going to fly.”
“We’re going to what?!”
He picked you up by the waist, you gripped onto his shoulders as he stood on the edge of your balcony.
“I’m scared.” You whispered into his ear
“Just close your eyes, we’ve done this before.” He whispered back.
The door to your room burst open, you saw your parents' terrified faces. Venti grabbed his hat, winked, and jumped.
Your eyes stayed open, and you marveled at the beautiful scenery. “Venti...”
“Are you still scared?’
“No, I...” you took a deep breath, “What if they find us?”
“Then I’ll save you over and over again.”
“I... I love you.”
He smiled, “A million ballads wouldn’t get half of the love I feel for you onto paper.”
You looked over at him. Maybe freedom was real. Maybe there was more to life than biased storybooks and hiding.
The thought elated you, though you did have one last question for yourself.
What will you do with this newfound freedom?

There were two times you'd reserved yourself the ability to let loose and have a break, The first was after a big Game, where being absolutely hungover wasn't a problem the next day, or after a big product launch. Fred and George were two men who liked to party hard. Fred loved getting smashed among friends, participating in drinking games and nearly causing a full on riot - a drink to get drunk kind of man. George on the other hand, took a lot to get drunk, he would be waved most of the night and then sober by the time he was home, The one thing however about your boyfriend was that he got handsy and possessive, something that drove you absolutely crazy for him.
You'd been clubbing in muggle London with George multiple times, using the night as a distraction from the wizarding word, taking a cab home to either his place or yours - more often than not passing out cuddling each other in impossible positions. It was the best rest George got, he was always confused when he woke up to the sunrise or birds chirping, finding relief in him sleeping through the night.
George's poor sleeping habits were there before the war, however the looming death and the horrible events he suffered seemed to replay in his mind whenever he neared a state of rest.
//
The blast in front of him was unlike anything George had seen before with his own two eyes. Through the rubble and dust he saw you hunched over on the ground, coughing up the debris from your lungs. He was silently thanking whatever god that was out there, if there even was one, that he was here in this moment. He knelt down next to you, hand rubbing circles on your back soothingly.
“Baby, it’s ok, I’m here.” When you heard his voice you flung yourself into his arms, not caring about the state of your lungs as you held him. He was safe.
“Let’s get you to the great hall, you can’t be running around out here like this.” You shook your head, cupping his cheeks with your hands and pressing a firm kiss to his lips, like it could be the last time you’d ever kiss him. You both ignored the metallic taste of blood and dust coating one another as you committed this moment to memory, If people caught you here, in each other’s arms, why would It matter? Secrecy was the last thought on your mind as you pressed your forehead against his.
“I need to fight, we need to fight, George.” You were standing up, still holding onto him, you were vulnerable like this, you kissed him once more, he pressed a kiss to your knuckles, “Forever, I promise.” you smiled, pulling him in for another hug. “I love you.” he squeezed you tighter as a response. Before you knew it you were bending down to collect your fallen wand,  running off in opposite directions.
You were being backed into a corner, slowly but surely. You’d resolved that this was the end. You weren’t sure who you were fighting until they were too close for comfort. Maria Bishop. When her hand touched your arm you were whisked away to another location. Once there you were violently shoved to your knees, winded still by the apparition.
“I always valued the Y/L/N family, you know,” She started, wand pointed at your head, Maria was known by others as ‘The Bishop’ you assumed because she was one of the Dark Lord’s prominent agents, finding and killing muggle-borns and blood-traitors alike, much like the bishop in chess eliminates their enemy.
“Such a shame you’re not like your mother and father, you would have made a beautiful pureblood wife.” she was laughing as she squatted down in front of you.
“Where Is Harry Potter?” she asked bitterly. Every inch of your skin was shaking with fear, you had no information, but it’s not like that mattered. “I- I don’t know, none of us have seen him in months.”
She didn’t like that, you didn’t even have time to think or apologise before you heard the word ‘crucio’ fall from her lips with ease.
The excruciating pain ran through your body, you fell to the ground, writhing as a blood-curdling scream was ripped through your vocal chords. You couldn’t do anything but scream over and over, it felt like your skin was being torn from its muscle and like scraping across all of your bones. She kept demanding, over and over for you to give her information but there was nothing to let out. You couldn’t even picture what Harry looked like, the only thing that ran through your mind was relentless agony.
You knew you wanted this to be over the minute it started, the pain crept up from your toes to your hips, over your chest and arms until finally it was at your throat. You felt like you were choking, you wanted all of the air to escape your lungs in the hope that the pain would end, but it never did. With every scream she laughed at you, watching as you writhed in pain like it was a comedy, she tried to overpower your shrieks with laughter.
You suddenly felt all weight lift off of you as the curse faded. Every limb was weak, time was no longer a concept to you, it felt like a lifetime of agony only repressed by a moment of solace, your hand was on your wand and before you could think, you were raising it and muttering the incantation of what you knew you shouldn’t. Her eyes widened, a flash of blinding green light filling her eyes, accompanied by a rushing sound, as if an invisible something was whipping through the air - within an instant she rolled over onto her back, unmistakably dead. The Bishop was down.
//
By 11:30 you were already half gone, If anyone asked, you were most definitely sober, but if the way you were swaying as you stood or your slightly misplaced steps weren’t telling enough, your tipsy giggles sure were. You’d been drinking down gigglewater like there was no tomorrow, making sure that you were well and truly off your face drunk. It felt like most, If not all of Diagon alleys’ daytime bustle had moved into the underground club below Olivanders. The walls were a dark, dusky brown, a perfect backdrop for the flashing lights and strobes. Music was pumping through your veins with every step as you pushed through the sea of people with a drink in hand, you found the corridor, taking a moment to breathe as you sipped on the bitter liquid.
Moments later you found yourself trapped between a pair of strong arms and the thick cushioned wall, you hadn’t even second guessed the man whose lips were on yours. Your hands were in his hair, pulling him in for a desperate, needy kiss. He was humming against you as his thigh found its way between your legs, letting you grind down against it. The man’s tongue was grazing against your lip, begging for entry - you didn’t even think of rejecting it because the touch felt so familiar. For four, maybe five minutes you were standing making out. You had to admit it felt good, of course it felt good, it was George. You pulled away, gasping for air but also getting a minute to look into his eyes, almost immediately you feel a loss of contact, as the body pressed against yours was stripped from by your side, causing a gentle whine to fall from your lips.
It was only when you blinked a few times that the fogginess of your vision truly got to you as you thought you were seeing double. You continued blinking, hoping the two would form to one, but instead you had stumbled backwards, now leaning on the wall for support.
George had Fred by the back of his shirt, pulling him away from you, his eyes like daggers as he scowled at his brother. “You can’t use her like that when she’s drunk.” Fred scoffs, the back of his hand coming up to wipe away the saliva that coated his lips, the smirk however was undeterred by the action. “You better wipe that fucking smirk off your face, Fred.”
The older twin was rolling his eyes, attempting to push past George to finish what he started, however, George’s hand pushed against his brother’s chest pinning him to the wall. “What the fuck?” he exclaimed, shoving George away from him by both shoulders, “Fred, take one look at her, and tell me you're comfortable doing that to her… Merlin, she can hardly stand, don’t be that guy.”
George was pleading his brother at this point, Fred sighed as he eyed you, taking in every characteristic of your demeanour - you were half asleep, leaning against the wall. He watched you try to wake yourself up and push your body away from the wall only to come crashing right back against it.
“I don’t know why you’re acting so protective all of a sudden… I’ll take her home.” Fred sighed, his hands rubbing over his face in an attempt to sober himself up.
“Fred, wait- I’ll do it.” his twin cocked an eyebrow at him, “I’m sober, it’s fine, you can’t apperate her she’ll be throwing up everywhere.” Fred nodded, giving George a pat on the shoulder as he walked away, “Thanks, Georgie.”
Your boyfriend's once angry eyes were softening as he looked at you, full of sadness as he watched you struggle. All he wanted to do was wrap you in his arms, and protect you, muttering under his breath, as he walked over to you, ‘let’s get you home then, angel.’
“Y/N, my love, it’s George, I’m gonna take you home, alright?” George was speaking so softly that you immediately felt at home. You nodded quickly, falling into the familiar pair of arms that were now holding you, giving you the anchor to finally walk again.
George led you out of the club and walked slowly with you as you stumbled step by step all the way down the quiet diagon alley. He got you into a cab as you both stumbled out of the leaky cauldron, the horns and chatter of London beaming around, it truly was a city that never slept. He had his arm wrapped around you protectively as you cuddled into his side, the sound of his beating heart slowly brought your racing thoughts down to earth. The way you were curled up against him reminded him of a moment from the war he’d never forget.
//
Your fingers trembled and shook so much that you could no longer control the grip of your wand. It truly sunk in that what you had done was unforgivable. You’d taken someone’s life. You rationalised with yourself that you had done it for your own good, to protect others, the ones you loved and cared for, but more importantly to protect yourself. You quickly pushed away from the body, crawling backwards until your back hit the wall, it had finally sunk in exactly what you'd done and you couldn't even bear to be with yourself as you buried your head between your knees, as silent sobs choked from your lips.
George found you like this, he had been searching worriedly for hours. It was pure vulnerability, he saw the body of the Bishop lying on her back, your wand discarded and you huddled into a ball. He didn’t know what to do or how to protect you, he reached out to touch your arm but you recoiled at his touch, pulling your knees tighter to your chest.
“Baby, It’s me.” he murmured softly, his voice cracking as he pushed out a whisper, outstretching his hand for you to take when you were ready. “We need to move you, It’s not safe here.” You took his hand, letting him whisk you away to a safer place, but you knew in your heart there was nowhere safer but his arms.
//
George carried you up the stairs to the bedroom, sitting you down on the bed, kneeling on the floor as he unlaced your boots, pulling each one off gently as his hand massaged your foot. When he looked up at you, you were no longer sat upright, instead having fallen back against the sheets as you began to try and remove your own clothes, doing so in a piss poor way.
He shook his head, smiling to himself as you grumbled at your own misfortune, his hands gripped your arms, pulling your wrists to his lips, pressing a gentle and loving kiss to the inside of each one. He slowly and cautiously helped you in removing your clothing, making sure to grab an old tee of his to cover you with when you sat naked on his bed.
He left to go and grab you a glass of water, as well as some painkillers for the morning. Finding you curled up on top of the sheets while shivering from the cold chill of the room. He chuckled once again, popping the items on the bedside table so that he could sit you up.
"Can we drink some water please, Princess?" you furrowed your brows, looking up at him as he stood in front of you. His large, warm hand was cupping your cheek softly, as he used his other to retrieve the glass of water, "I'll help you, now open up for me, that's a good girl."
His thumb coaxed your lips open, pressing the cold glass against your bottom lip as he gently fed you the clear liquid, you were gulping it down like you were wholeheartedly parched, he smiled at you when you'd finished, placing the glass on the bedside table again.
"Well done, beautiful, now let's get you under these covers, that ought to stop those shivers, hm?" Your hands wrapped around his neck as he lifted you up off of the bed, you stood, holding onto him as he flipped the duvet corners open, lifting you up so he could lay you down against the mattress.
He tried to pull your arms from his neck, but you only held on tighter, keeping him pulled close to you as a pout hung on your lips, whining as he tried to pull away from you. "Cuddle me."
He leaned down pressing a kiss to your forehead, he tucked you in gently, the covers wrapping you up nice and warm. "I'll be joining you soon darling but I can't cuddle you like this, I'll crush you if i lay on top of you now," he laughed, the low hum reverberating in your chest as you smiled at him with a doe eyed expression plastered to your face.
He stripped his jacked off, changing into some more comfortable clothing so that he could join you in bed. As soon as he sat on the mattress, your head was in his lap, he smiled at the sight, his heart warming as your arms wrapped around his thigh, cuddling into him.
He felt your shoulders begin to shake, looking down at you he saw the salty tears running down your cheeks as you tried to hold back your sobs. The reality of what happened in the hall of the club was hitting you, suddenly feeling sick to your stomach at the prospect that you had been making out with his twin, all the while believing it was George. "I'm so sorry, Georgie, I don't deserve you, I fucked up and I'm sorry, I just- I thought he was you and I was kissing him back and-"
George had cut you off by pressing a finger to your lips with a gentle shushing sound, his fingertips massaging your scalp as he played with your hair ."You don't need to apologise for a thing, Princess."
The feeling of his hand as he gently dragged his fingers through your hair was lulling you to sleep, you sighed contently, your heart beating faster as you began to hear the gentle soothing sounds of his humming, a sweet and soothing melody that made you feel like you were in heaven.
To him you looked like an angel when you slept, his heart resting easy at the sight of you painless, careless and content in the arms and presence of the man she loved so dear. She was like his own little slice of heaven, for him to enjoy on earth, always feeling like the damned luckiest man in the world to wake up to the sight of you.
You awoke the next morning to the smell of bacon and eggs hitting your senses, groaning you reached over and took the two pain relief, washing it down with some water from the night before. You were dragging your feet along the floor as you sought the arms of your boyfriend, you found him in the kitchen plating up some food. You immediately fell to his side, arms wrapping around him as you groaned, the power of your headache hitting you.
"Eat up, my Love, You'll feel so much better after." George had prepared you a delicious greasy fry up, knowing it was one of your favourite things to wake up to, he pressed a kiss to your cheek as his hand found the small of your back, "Thank you George, smells amazing as always."
He smiled, taking the two plates to the dining table, where cutlery and orange juice already lay. You felt spoilt by the man you loved as you wolfed down the food. George made the best breakfasts around, aside from Molly, of course, each component cooked with the special ingredient of never-ending love, making it that much more tasty.
You were the luckiest girl alive, looking into his eyes, he smiled at you, making you melt, even after all these years. George was everything you needed and more, you were sick of hiding him and he was just as sick of hiding you. Your Protector, Your Lover, His angel.

hiiii, can i please request some levi ackerman headcannons where he has a badass girlfriend? she is shorter than him but she is literally so badass,, i see alot of stories with levi and a s/o who is really sweet and caring but never with someone who is cool, caring, badass, and can take care of herself,, thank you!!
Being Levi’s Badass Girlfriend would Include...
Tumblr media
Growing up with Levi in the underground, both of you taking care of each other for as long as you can remember
Being a few years younger than Levi, running into him after desparately looking for somewhere to hide from the men you stole bread from
Finding him nearly starved and deciding to sharing your food, becoming inseperable ever since
Levi squeezing your hand when you’re nervous
You singing to him when he’s stressed but too prideful to admit it
Learning knife skills from Kenny when he took the two of you under his wing, and getting frustrated that you seemed to lack the Ackerman natural talent
You compensating for it with your charming and, when you wanted, manipulative nature
Typically being underestimated for your smaller stature, but taking that as insentive to work twice as hard to prove people wrong
Reminding him that he wasn’t alone after Kenny abandoned you two
"We're going to get through this, Levi. We'll be okay, I promise."
"Stupid, I know that already."
Being one of the only people who could make Levi smile
Getting mugged quite often when you walked anywhere alone, to the point where Levi wouldn’t let you out at night without him
Becoming annoyed at this treatment and deciding to take up martial arts more seriously
Fighting people more than twice your size when needed, and coming out victoriously nearly every time
Living together, and having to follow Levi’s meticulous cleaning rules in whatever living space the two of you occupied
Always being less closed off to others than Levi, despite being calloused by your hardships all the same
Your teen years going by barely scraping enough money to survive,
You always trying to stay positive regardless
Taking over jobs and caring for Levi on the rare occassion he got injured or sick, with him doing the same for you
Occassionally finding yourself blushing when you first realized he had started gaining muscle
An overwhelming urge to scold him if he’s gone for too long, especially after taking on an extra dangerous gig
Realistically, just being worried for Levi’s safety or being afraid that he had left you
Being proven over and over again the latter was never an option
Him buying you small things on special occassions, like hair accessories or trinkets
Chastising him for wasting money when he did
"I told you! There’s no point to having this kind of stuff. You should've used the money for something we need."
"Do you like it?"
"...yes."
"Then shut up. Happy birthday, (Y/N)."
Smiling and treasuring each gift with your whole heart
Building a reputation alongside Levi as a notorious power duo, with people just assuming you two were together
You handling the connections and networking aspects of business deals with your superior social skills
Levi insisting on taking you with him when me moved in with Farlan, making excuses that you’d probably be all dirty and unorganized by yourself
"It's okay to just say you'd miss me, you know."
Being happy to add another person to your small family, and becoming fast friends with the dirty blonde
Laughing that Levi finally had someone else to pick on about their “unsatisfactory” cleaning habits
Being the one to negotiate for ODM gear, and learning how to use them suprisingly quickly
Sometimes flirting with men to get what you wanted, having learned how to use your feminity to your advantage as the years passed
That not always ending well
Having to save each others’ lives on multiple counts, some instances with you two just barely escaping
Holding Levi close on nights you nearly lost each other
Him wanting desperately to give you a better life
Viewing Isabel as the little sister you never had once you met, teaching her everything you’d come to know living in the underground as a fellow, smaller woman
Suprisingly, finding yourself having brief moments of contentment, despite the tough days
You being in on the deal to join the Survey Corps kill Erwin Smith in order to secure citizenship on the surface
Becoming emotional at the opportunity to go above ground, never thinking it was possible
Grabbing Levi’s hand excitedly after breathing fresh air for the first time, missing the way he smiled softly as you pointed at the hundreds of things you’d never seen before
"Look, Levi!! Real clouds! And is that how tall trees are supposed to be?"
The happiness not lasting long
You trying to stay strong for Levi after the death of Isabel and Farlan, knowing he believed it was all his fault
Still crying on days where no one was watching
Getting through the loss together, just like everything else
Staying in the military and silently vowing to always be there for Levi, knowing you’d go wherever he did
Taking a while to adjust without your friends
Trying to be thankful that life had less hungry nights and unsafe circumstances
You and Levi becoming squad leaders fairly quickly, having proven your skill and loyalty tenfold
Having a titan kill count that rivalled his (which you’d nonchallantly remind him of, once or twice)
Quickly gaining the respect of your team
Your fellow comrades realizing that your pretty face and short height yet kickass persona were the epitome of how “looks can be deceiving”
Not being afraid to put recruits with egos in their place
Levi keeping an extra eye on you during missions whenever he could, even though he knew you could hold your own
Sneaking into his room when the nightmares became too much
"Just... wipe your feet before coming in, (Y/N)."
Late nights in his office ensuing where he listens to you reminisce about the past
And it hitting you suddenly, a few years later, that you were in love with Levi Ackerman
The affection being triggered by the simplest of things: him brushing those raven bangs out of his eyes mid-conversation
Realizing you always felt this way, and you might have even realized it sooner if you both weren’t so busy trying to survive
Wondering for weeks if you should say something
Deciding he most likely didn’t feel the same way and pushing your feelings aside, falling back into the regular dynamic
You daydreaming about what a possible future together would look like
Levi kissing you for the first time before an expedition outside the walls,
Him wanting you to know how he felt in case it was your last night together
Confessing that you’ve loved him your whole life, and telling him you think it was always meant to be that way
Fiercely taking on each task the Titans threw at you, empowered by the fact that you had something to live for
Him becoming more protective than ever, which although frustrating at times, you found endearing
Drinking tea together on your breaks and stealing kisses across his desk
Levi Squad teasing their captain about his fondness for you, on days where they feel extra cheeky
Both of you planning to get married after the war
Just allowing yourself to be fully happy for the first time, basking in the fact that you get to spend the rest of your life with the man you adore
"I love you, Levi."
"I've only ever loved you."

— title : brownies n’ breaks
— word count : 2.2 k words
— pairing : daryl dixon x reader
— summary : cooking is your love language and it’s time that you are able to finally make something for Daryl, protected from the high walls that alexandria boasts of are you finally able to bring that vision to life
— warnings : absolutely nothing, except sickly sweet fluff
oooo another daryl request if you’re willing!!! maybe once they get to alexandria reader makes daryl some homemade brownies or some shit because she knows he’s never had much homemade food if any just some domestic cute shit??🥺🥺♥️
          ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* requested      /    requests are open   *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Sweetness flows throughout the air of your new home, sliding into every corner it can find to fill and warm. The smell of domesticy is something you thought perished long ago when the world died, but here you stand.. with a fresh batch of brownies in the oven baking as if life rebooted and got set back to factory settings. You move from the oven, small steps to the door to be able to survey the kitchen area once more, blinking as if to erase it from your vision, to be greeted with the punishing sun and the dirt filled roads lined with ghosts.
A cozy yellow glow is snug in the pit of your stomach as you think about who the sweet bake belongs to, Daryl has been nothing less than golden. From Atlanta, all the way to Alexandria.. he has always been one to step up without even thinking. You’d shared many secluded moments together, talking about your pasts and while he has never explicitly said anything, you have created a picture in your head about what he has gone through. The love not shared healthily to someone who will always put his family first. Even prior to the downfall of society, you loved to cook for everyone you knew.
You settle yourself with a book on the window ledge close to the kitchen, awaiting the arrival of Daryl, a giddiness that could be likened to a snowfall of glitter falling gracefully within you.
“ you know, when we finally find a new home. I will make you the best brownies you’ve ever had! “
“ if y’don’t burn ‘em first. “ he replied, the corner of his eyes crinkle so delicately as he chuckles lowly.
“ don’t be so fucking mean! here I am trying to do something nice.. it won’t kill you! “ you argue humorously, your fist balling up to punch his arm with little force.
Laughter and carelessness had been a rarity after surviving Terminus, your focus on trying to find safety.. no matter how much of a dream it may be. The journey to coming to terms with the fading faces and memories of the prison has been a painful one, comfort was not something that could easily be found, yet you found it in the least conventionally affectionate person you knew.
“ if anythin’s gonna kill me, it ain’t gonna be your cooking. “
“ actually, I cook very well. it will be a good day when I finally get to show you. “
An airy smile brightens your features, the burdenless weight unable to keep your lips stuck together. Many memories you have with him are of the fond kind, of course, the course of your bond with him runs deep but never has it been a calm sea. There have been moments where you wonder if it’s one sided, if you are inventing a picture that you wish to bleed through to reality, then you are proven wrong and he does things that you know in your heart are true. It has taken losing friends, a home, finding new hope to strengthen that bond and while you would prefer to take the easy road, you know that nothing will ever split the two of you into shards of glass that will never be able to be repaired. You’re both strong people, but stronger together.
A figure clad in black and covered in grime makes their way up the flawless road to where you rest, your vision could be awful but you can make out his being anywhere. The book you hold is laid to rest, your feet already carrying yourself to the door to meet him. Days had past since you last saw him and you can now feel the chords of longing pulling as you had missed him.
Your hand encloses the door handle, swinging it open to finally land your gaze on his form, feeling as if it had been years you’d not done so, as opposed to a few days.
“ took you long enough. “
“ yeah, yeah. quit your complainin’.  “
You move aside, Daryl taking the cue from you and entering the house that bares no soul at that present moment. Everyone is out with their own agenda or job, leaving you to potter about to your own devices.
Some peace and privacy for even a few hours is something you are thankful for, two things that had been incredibly rare from your journey from Atlanta. Though, the noise that comes with your family reminds you of the moments you couldn’t wait to be rid from as you grew up are ones that you no longer fail to appreciate.
“ did you find anybody out there? “
Daryl shakes his head, you see the trouble that he wears often become even more apparent as it overwhelms his features intensely. Knowing Daryl as well as you do, you know that while he won’t admit it out loud, every time he goes out there with Aaron to find people and finds no one wounds his spirit more and more. While his desire to save everyone is admirable, it’s often a concern to you that it might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and he’s often met with your comforting energy of it being simply an unsustainable trait.
“ you know you won’t always find people, right? “ you ask him softly, tucking your legs underneath you as you seat yourself on the sofa.
Daryl refuses to sit, it’s a thought that regularly finds itself bouncing around your mind as to why he can’t relax even behind the walls of Alexandria.
“ yea’, still sucks though. “ he wipes his thumb across his nose, an unconscious habit on his part, discussing his thoughts and feelings has never been easy, raised in a home full of toxicity stunted him emotionally, something he still wrestles with when the occasion arises.
“ there’s going to be a day where you’ve gone and saved everyone! there won’t be anyone left for you to bring back! cut yourself some slack. “
Daryl doesn’t respond, knowing there is truth in your words but he has seen so much death already, the world gripped by dark and dim choke hold, a little dusting of life is something that has been lacking since it died. Avoidance of feelings is something Daryl flees to when the conversation gets tough, he can deal with  words full of anger and rage, but topics so delicate still feel so alien to him.
“ wha’ y’been up to? “ the male questions you, seemingly interested in what you have been up to, watching you from the otherside of the room.
As if a switch had been flipped, your eyes ignite with excitement and joy as you have finally been able to fulfil your unofficial promise to him.
“ remember when we were talking about my cooking? when you insulted it? “ the sides of your lips gently lift with a soft innocence, you feel the elation slowly warming the entirety of your body at the simpleness of it all.
“ y’ain’t gone and poisoned sumn’ have ‘ya? “ asks Daryl, turning to face you from across the floor where he stood. His tone holds a ‘ blink and you will miss it ‘ humour threaded into his words.
“ I should have! “ laughing at him, you fit your fingers between his and lead him into the kitchen with you.
Touch is still something that sends an uncomfortable shiver to travel the distance down his spine, but with everything you have been through and all the time you have spent together, touch is something he’d never turn from when thinking of you. Your relationship has been a strange, never formal one, but it is perfect for the two of you. Unspoken words full of warmth and fondness are a solidity in each one’s souls, and while you both never shared the extent of what the two of you have with the group, they have their suspicions and theories. But if they know one thing, it’s Daryl’s affection for you runs deep.
“ brownies! “
He peaks into the oven that you have opened, the rich smell of cocoa and heat baking the treats hit him like a brick, a pit forms deep in his stomach. This is different from past meals beforehand. You had gone out of your way for him, of all people. Never could he mentally grip why you have been so kind and benevolent with him but it’s something he treasures deeply. In the beginning he was more abrasive with you more than anyone else, but it used to be his go to defense mechanism with everyone in your family. Softness never being something destined for him was beaten into him for a young age, learning only how to loathe and to only say words in anger. It wasn’t until you came along and took your time with him did he let you in, something you have been grateful ever since.. especially since you have been able to discover the colourful soul that resides within him.
“ y’didn’t have to. “ he replies, his mouth watering at the mere smell of the brownies that are close to being fully baked.
“ Daryl… “ a softness in your response that is only reserved for him is heavy, your eyebrows furrowing in dejection. You know enough of his history to be confident in your placed hurt for him being unable to experience kindness in a positive manner. Your hand trails up his clothed arm and rests on his shoulder lightly, allowing for him to decide whether or not to accept the physical affection. He doesn’t shrug it off, if anything he leans more into your touch. “ you know I’m doing this because I want to, you deserve something nice! “
“ thanks. “
“ and they’re nearly done, so you best take a seat. “
Daryl follows your order with little encouragement, a smirk that he conceals from your view and sits at the lengthy dinner table. He’s having trouble connecting the dots of the dead walking and civilisation ended and the pure normalcy of him sitting at a dinner table about to eat home cooked brownies. Even back when the world was bustling with life and people working their nine to fives were home cooked meals a rarity.
“ so this is what y’spent your day on? “ he asks as he watches you with a spark of fondness in his eyes as you work in the kitchen.
“ cooking is therapeutic. “
“ y’ a weird person. “ Daryl quips, staring at you right in your eyes. His expression gives nothing away, though his eyes speak a thousand words and paint a thousand colours that you understand fully.
It’s lucky you know him so well to understand when he’s being serious and when not.
“ but you like it! “
The squares of the baked treats are uneven and jagged, your features contorting into a confused frown at how they could so well until the end. You blame the knife for the imperfection and flaws of the appearance of what lays before you, however your heart knows it’s your inability to present your dishes artistically.
“ now I apologise they don’t look good but they do taste good! “
“ y’never have to say sorry for anythin’ “ he thoughtless says, his mind to preoccupied with the food laid before him.
A picture painted by his mind long ago had you as the perfect person, it’s comforting to know the flaws you have are nothing short of charming in your own little way. With the lack of elegance associated with him, his fingers dig into the irregular shape of the brownie and shoves half of it  into his mouth.
You watch him with your breath holding itself, never have you been a person who has wanted to impress but when it comes to Daryl? You find yourself wanting to do that and more.
“ well? “
He nods with his mouth full, unable to formulate his words. His jokes about your cooking being bad have been nothing more than that, jokes. But even as he’s consuming the small squares he’s surprised at how good they taste, better than he could even imagine.
“ ain’t half bad. “
“ in Daryl speak that means they’re pretty damn great, huh? “ you question him rhetorically, amusement dancing on each word you speak as you gaze steadily on his form.
“ well y’didn’t burn the house down. “
Your mouth opens and eyes widen considerably as your expression twists from being filled to the brim of affection to one of shock, aghast at his jovial words. The laughter tumbles carelessly from your lips as you reach across to swat his arm playfully.
“ you are so rude! “
He joins in with your laughter, a sight so infrequent that you wish you could burn the image into your mind with no chance of being erased by time. It’s moments like these, where you truly feel like the only two people in the world, stolen moments you hold close to your heart. You hope that you will reach a space where you both will be able to freely express your feelings, while the mutual affection is known between the both of you, sometimes you want to use words. So he knows, because it’s something he deserves. To know how much he is loved, without cowering away from the subject.
“ nah I’m just kiddin’. thanks, I mean it. “

The Oncoming Storm Part 31: Flowers
Liu Kang x Reader and Kung Lao x Reader (gonna do both, two paths!)
It's time for the CHOICE. You reminisce, finally get the truth of that big memory. Maybe getting a little bit closer to Kung Lao. There's a storm coming and it's time to get ready.
A/N: Wow, the choice is here! I told you it was a weird normal choice haha. I hope you guys enjoy, this has been a blast. Each choice WILL be different enough that the story is still worth reading on both ends. They will have dramatic differences, honestly. Thank you guys so much for reading. This has been such fun.
Schedule change: The Oncoming Storm will diverge into two separate stories here- Firestorm and Lightning. Lightning updates on Monday and Firestorm on Friday. I have a few new stories in the works too so this will give me more time to plan and write. It's only one less day posting, honestly.
Part 30 Lightning Part 1 (Kung Lao) Firestorm Part 1 (Liu Kang) Volcanic Charge Part 1 (Both) Chapter Index
You tried to rest, you really did, but you were having a hard time being alone with only your thoughts for company. For some time, you sat at your desk and tried to read but you couldn’t focus on the notes. Plus, you had terrible handwriting. Liu Kang had been right. You wound up, instead, playing with the flower that rested nearby. You decided you’d cherish it a little bit longer before finding a way to press it and keep it preserved.
Sitting still was torture so you decided to take a walk. A short walk. You didn’t even bother putting on your shoes to try and discourage from going too far. Twisting the stem of the flower in your hand, you walked until you realized you’d gone much further than intended. Oh well. You weren’t pushing yourself too hard. You’d needed a change of scenery and fresh air, that was all. You found a balcony nearby and took a seat near the edge so you could watch the world across the ravine.
It was beautiful.
You twisted the flower between your fingers, admiring the purple petals. It was a small and frail thing. Small but also a sweet reminder of things long past. Those memories were so far from you now in your adult life that it was more like remembering pages from a book rather than scenes from your own history. The story, as distant as it was, was still precious to you.
Memory was a funny thing.
You’d replayed that day over and over in your mind for years after it had happened.
Your grandma had a love-hate relationship with Kung Lao at the time. She’d loved that you had a friend but had hated that the boy had been so rebellious. Your grandma had said things like ‘when you married that boy’. Once, on her deathbed, grandma had asked if you were still with Kung Lao. You’d told her yes because it had made grandma happy.
Your grandmother had always called you sensitive because of your visions, you supposed. You always had the distinct feeling that she’d known more about what was happening to you than anyone else had.
Back then the word sensitive had felt like an insult.
As an adult, you understood that it just wasn’t that simple. Grandma had always loved you even as sensitive as you were. Your mother and father had never been able to look you in the eye after it had begun. You had no doubt that they loved you, but it had been different. At nine years old that had been a lot to process. You would probably benefit from therapy but the monks in Raiden’s Temple were such gossips you were certain you’d have to outsource.
The flower spun above your fingers, and you held your other hand around it to protect it from the wind.
You were out of breath as you chased Kung Lao up the hillside through the thick and overgrown brush between the trees. He was almost constantly just far enough away from you that you couldn’t seem to catch up. Your legs were wobbly, fingers going numb, lips tingling.
Yesterday had been a mess.
You’d fallen in the kitchen while having a fit and had hit the back of your head on the counter. Grandma had taken care of you, but you’d still felt sick that morning. Then Kung Lao had wanted to see you. You’d fought with grandma about it. You begged and pled. After having such a bad day you’d only wanted to spend time with Kung Lao and feel normal.
But then Kung Lao had been funny all day.
He was even a little mean. You wondered what you had done wrong.
“Keep up, weirdo!” He’d called back to you teasingly and you nearly stopped in your tracks. He had never once before called you any of the awful names that the other kids in town had called you. To hear the insult from his lips was jarring, so much so that you thought you’d heard him wrong or imagined it.
“I need a minute! You have to slow down!” You called to him while you caught your breath. You leaned against the tree nearest you and gasped. Your heart felt like it was going to burst, and your mouth kept filling with sick spit. You were uncomfortable. Grandma had made you promise to take it easy. You were going to get in so much trouble if grandma found out that you were running through the woods that far from home.
Kung Lao reappeared through the trees, and he was smiling but still not himself. “What? Are you weak, Y/N? Gonna fall over? Can’t even make it up a little hill?”
“You’re being a jerk.” You coughed and his expression changed, but only briefly. He then turned away from you.
“Keep up, weirdo!”
“Don’t call me that!” The names stung. He’d never hinted that he’d believed those things about you so why was he saying them now? He’d been adamantly against the other kids giving you a hard time because you were different. Now there he was doing the same. Something was wrong but you didn’t understand what. Kung Lao was always difficult to understand when he was acting funny. He kept secrets.
You ran to catch up with him, stumbled over a loose stone, and then fell. You caught yourself in the dirt but hit hard. Your palms scraped against the ground and so did your knees. You sat there panicked and not breathing. Not because it’d hurt. You’d gotten good at handling pain over the past year. It was because you were bleeding and that had become a problem. When you bled, you just kept bleeding instead of healing. You were going to be in so, so much trouble when you got back to Grandma’s.
“You’re too slow, weirdo!”
Your eyes filled with tears.
This had to be a bad dream. Kung Lao would never treat you like this. You got up and watched the blood drip over your torn tights and then ran back through the trees toward your grandma’s farm. You didn’t want to hear those horrible words in his voice anymore. You’d had enough. Everywhere you went they called you terrible names or looked at you like you didn’t belong.
The only place that you had ever felt like you belonged was with Kung Lao and today he had made you feel like everyone else had.
An alien.
A freak.
The farm came into view and so you stopped at the tree line. If you went back, then grandma was going to be upset with you. She wouldn’t yell but she would be disappointed which was worse. Then you wouldn’t be allowed to watch television. It would be just you and the studies left behind by the tutor that came during the week to help you keep up with your education.
You took off your shoes and your tights, then replaced your shoes before using the tights to wipe the blood from your knees and your palms. The blood was quickly replaced. You leaned against one of the trees, hiding behind the bushes in a place where you had often snuck away to read or hide from your family.
The last time that you’d fallen, you’d skinned your elbow and it had gotten terribly infected. You’d been sick for weeks. Your parents had been so upset that you’d felt like you’d broken a rule just because you’d fallen on the way to the doctor. They’d reassured you that it was an accident but the disappointment that radiated from them when they looked at you spoke differently.
Grandma had never once blamed you for the things you couldn’t control. But this had been in your control. You knew that Kung Lao had been pushing you too hard, but you also hadn’t told him how sick you had been that morning and the night before. This was your fault. You should have told him that you weren’t up to the task of hiking wherever he had been dragging you. He’d said it had been a beautiful surprise.
The trip had been a surprise, alright, but not in the way that you had hoped it would be. It felt like a nightmare.
You hadn’t meant to fall! You’d been winded and now your hands and knees were scraped, and you’d be in trouble. Your tights were ruined too. Grandma had threatened to wrap you up in a bubble wrap before sending you off to play with ‘that boy’ and now you wondered if you’d ever be allowed outside to play with him again.
He’d called you names.
For the first time ever.
He’d called you those awful names that the other kids called you.
Tears dripped down your cheeks, your nose was plugged up and you sniffled, burying your face in your arms as you pulled your knees closer to your chest. You cried. You didn’t cry much those days, not anymore. When you’d first gotten sick, you’d cried all the time. Now you reserved your tears for hiding in your closet where no one would see. Your dad would get angry when you cried, something you’d never wanted.
Now you hid your tears.
Footsteps crunched on the grass and leaves beside you, and you wiped your eyes furiously to hide your tears but you was too stuffed up to do it well. Kung Lao sat next to you in silence, arms folded against his knees, watching you. You sniffled and frowned, trying to look mad but you weren’t sure it was actually working.
“We better get you cleaned up or you’re going to get in trouble again.” Kung Lao poked the side of your knee, and you scooted an inch away from him. He scooted with you.
“I don’t need your help.” You held your destroyed tights over your bloody knees to keep them from dipping down your leg. The scrapes weren’t that bad, they just seemed to bleed more than everyone else’s scrapes did.
“Well, it’s my fault.”
“Just leave me alone, Kung Lao.” You tried to shoo him away and he tried to pull the tights away from your knees so that he could take a look. “Stop it.”
He pouted and crossed his legs, hands at his ankles as he rocked forward and then back, letting his hands catch him as he leaned back. “I’m sorry.”
“Go away.”
“I know that those names are mean. I wasn’t thinking. You never react to them when anyone calls you them. They don’t seem to bother you.” He shrugged, looking off to the side as if embarrassed. You relaxed a little bit. “I don’t think I realized how mean it was until I saw how hurt you were just now.”
You sniffled.
“I’m dumb sometimes.” He slumped his shoulders. “You always act so strong. I didn’t think it’d hurt.”
You were used to being called mean names by others but coming from him it had hurt. You were only strong when you heard those names because their opinion of you hadn’t mattered. Kung Lao’s did.
“Can I help?”
“Yeah, I guess.” You sighed. Kung Lao jumped to his feet.
“I’ll go get some bandages!”
“Okay.” You wouldn’t fight him. He ran off, presumably to climb through your bedroom window and get the bandages that were kept on your side table. You wiped your eyes and willed away your upset. Kung Lao often acted before he thought. At least he’d apologized even if it had still hurt your feelings. You were, admittedly, sensitive after the night you’d had.
It didn’t take him long to return. Together you cleaned the scrapes with the little wipes that your grandma had bought and then Kung Lao placed little sticky bandages on your knees. It was sloppy and not how you would have done it, but it was sweet of him to try. Together you wrapped your palms with gauze and he did a much better job with that.
“Grandma is probably going to notice.”
“I don’t know. Your grandma doesn’t see very well. She doesn’t even notice when I’m in your room half the time.”
“Yeah, even so, mom’s going to notice when she visits tomorrow.” He wasn’t wrong. Grandma didn’t have the best eyes. Even with her glasses she struggled to read instructions and usually asked you to do it. But your mom noticed when you had so much as a loose thread on your dress or if your hair was even a little messy.
“You can blame it on me.” Kung Lao grinned. “That way you won’t get in trouble.”
“Mom already doesn’t like you.”
“What? Why not?”
“She thinks you’re a bad influence.”
“I could see that.” Kung Lao laughed.
“I won’t be allowed to see you anymore if I blame it on you. I’d rather just get into trouble for falling.” You picked up your tights. You’d get in trouble for that too. Your mom would go on and on about how money didn’t grow on trees. You’d never liked tights anyway. Besides that, your parents never seemed to be happy with you anymore anyway. What was a little extra trouble?
Kung Lao stood and offered you his hand. You took it and got to your feet. Together you made your way the short distance back to the farmhouse. A fence surrounded the old field behind it that your grandma hadn’t tended to in years. It was overgrown with weeds mostly now.
“When are you going to be allowed to go back home?”
“When I’m better.” That was what your parents had said every time you asked.
“You should just lie and say that you’re better then! Then we can play in town. This is a long walk for me.”
You laughed and climbed beneath the gap in the fence. You had wasted most of the afternoon and if you didn’t get back inside before dark then you were going to get in trouble for that too. You were pretty sure that you were already going to get in trouble. You weren’t a good liar. Every time you tried, you stuttered and got nervous and wound up giving yourself away so you didn’t really try anymore. Except for when it came to lying about if you were okay or not. You’d gotten good at pretending that you weren’t upset when you were.
“I have to go home, Kung Lao.” You waved to him and turned away.
“Wait, Y/N!” He called to you. You hurried back to the fence that he was leaning against, arms folded.
“What?”
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a battered purple flower. Then he offered it to you, averting his eyes and looking shy for maybe the first time you’d ever seen. You stared at the flower in surprise. You’d seen that kind of flower before, but they were mostly red or white. You’d never see it purple before.
“It’s why I wanted you to follow me.” He shrugged and his cheeks were redder than you’d noticed before. Maybe from their afternoon of sunshine or maybe because he was embarrassed. Why was he embarrassed? “I found them the other day and they reminded me of you. I wanted you to see them. Then I was a jerk and you ran away instead so… I brought one back for you.”
You didn’t know what to say. Had he been mean because he’d been embarrassed to do something so sweet? You didn’t know what any of it meant but it was cute to see him acting this way. He was usually so confident.
“You’re terrible.” Was what you went with. He laughed. “Making fun of me just to do something sweet.”
“Yeah, I am pretty terrible.” He beamed, back to his old self just like that. You took the flower from him and twisted the stem between your fingers. It was crumpled up from being in his pocket but it was still special and beautiful. You decided that you’d hide it. Your grandma wouldn’t let you keep it after it died, and you wanted to keep it forever.
“Thank you, Kung Lao.” You smiled and then used the fence to lean up to his height and give him a kiss on the cheek like you’d seen girls do in movies. You’d never done that before to anyone but your mom, sister, and grandma. His face turned beat red and you took a step back, holding the flower close to your chest. He grinned from ear to ear. “I have to go! Goodbye, Kung Lao!”
“Consider lying so that you can come back to town!” He shouted after you and you laughed before returning to your grandma’s house.
You twisted the stem of the flower in your hand just as you had done as a child. There had been so much of that day that you’d forgotten. It wasn’t like you sat in the memory all the time. That next day your mom had come to visit and had brought the terrible news that Kung Lao had died.
You’d been heartbroken, or that was the word that your grandma had used to defend you when your mom had told you to grow up. You hadn’t understood the notion of heartbreak at that age.
That had been what it was though. Heartbreak. Grandma had known your heart better than you ever had.
After that you’d refused to date for a long time. When you turned sixteen your mother had begun to set you up with boys from town or from neighboring towns. You’d fought with your mom about it every time and had reluctantly gone on the dates but had made it clear you weren’t interested. Your mom had told you that Kung Lao was dead and your idea of him was going to keep all other men out of your life. You’d never become a wife or a mother at that rate. You’d fought that wasn’t true or fair to accuse you of. But in the same breath you’d sabotaged every relationship you’d ever had. Your mom hadn’t been completely wrong.
You had ruined every chance at marriage that you’d had until you and your mother had become so estranged that by the time that she’d died you had barely spoken. Your father had stopped talking to you long before then outside of pleasantries around the holidays and only because your sister forced him to be polite.
Every relationship that you’d had outside of your mother’s meddling had ended with you being unable to commit. You’d never liked the idea of becoming a housewife and that was what most men that you met had wanted. You probably hadn’t given them the proper chance to prove that you’d be more than that either, though. Your older sister had settled down with a nice man from the neighboring town and had a daughter. This had continued her long running streak of being the family favorite.
You were okay with that.
Your sister had never been mean to you. In fact, she had only ever defended you. You hoped that she was doing okay. You’d been close. It had probably crushed her to think that you had died.
“Y/N? Are you okay?”
You turned very suddenly at the sound of Kung Lao’s voice, eyes wide and panicked. It was jarring to hear the voice of another person after being so lost in your memories.
“I’ve been standing here for like five minutes. You didn’t notice?” He was leaning against the wall of the entryway to the balcony. You felt your heart slamming in your chest. He was alive and that was still wild to you sometimes. You tried to hide the flower like a moron, like you hadn’t been mooning over your memories of him. It was too late for that. Kung Lao sat next to you. “I broke into your room when no one answered. Sorry.” He grinned and it was that same grin that a much younger him had worn after you’d kissed his cheek. “You were gone so I checked the infirmary, and you weren’t there either. That one monk, your friend, said that she’d left you earlier in the day and wasn’t your keeper. I don’t think she likes me much.”
“Chen.” You offered him her name. “I heard that you were very annoying while I was unconscious so that’s probably why she was snippy at you.”
“Well, you were unconscious for three days and I wanted to see you even if you couldn’t respond to me.” He puffed up his cheeks and pouted as he turned his gaze. You smiled and looked back down on the flower that you had hidden just beneath the hanfu you’d put on.
“Thank you for checking in on me so much. It’s sweet.”
“It’s not sweet. Purely selfish.”
“It’s sweet.” You repeated.
Kung Lao pulled the cloth away from where you’d hidden the flower and carefully took the stem from your fingertips. As you had suspected, there had been no point in hiding it.
“Wilting, huh?” He turned it over in his hands.
“Yeah, that’s what flowers do.” You shrugged and watched the ravine as he studied the flower. “Their beauty fades.”
“Yeah, I suppose.” Kung Lao rested it in his palm carefully, as if worried that he would crush it. You sat silently watching the ravine. “I would fill your room with flowers if it meant that you would be okay.”
You looked to him in surprise and then at the wilted flower in his palm. Your eyes burned with the threat of tears, and you fought them.
“I like having just the one.” You smiled. He cocked a curious eyebrow. “It makes it special. Only one. And the memory of the other.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” He offered you the flower and you took it carefully. “Do you remember that day?”
“Every second of it.”
“You were my first kiss.” He grinned.
“Well, technically it was only a kiss on the cheek, Lao.”
“It counted. To me it counted.” He looked too proud of it to argue with him. How could you? It was incredibly sweet. You gently nudged him. “Are you okay?” He asked, his voice a bit more serious, a rare thing that you both treasured and feared.
“Yeah. I’m sore and tired.” You averted your gaze.
“And…?”
“A little scared.”
“Yeah, I figured as much.”
“Are you okay?”
“Well, that was terrifying, and you almost murdered us.” He considered and you snapped your head to him in alarm. He was smiling, even if there was still sadness behind his eyes. “Watching you struggle with this is all too familiar. I’m just glad that you’re okay now. Feeling more determined than ever.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah.” Kung Lao stood and offered his hand and you felt your heart skip a beat. This really was far too familiar. “Come eat with me. You haven’t had real food in days.”
“I’m not really hungry.”
“Three days, Y/N!”
“I was unconscious and on an IV.”
“Come eat with me anyway. Maybe Liu will join us!” Kung Lao took your hand and you reluctantly let him and got to your feet. You avoided his eyes as they studied you. “Liu’s fine, Y/N. It’s just a scrape.”
“I was covered in blood, but whatever you say.” You tucked the flower within the folds of your hanfu. “We can go get food but I’m not hungry.”
“Let’s go.” He held your hand for a time as you walked but after a few minutes he seemed to become aware that he was holding it and let go. Then he shoved his hands instead in his pockets. Your feet were sore without your shoes, and you were tired by the time you made it downstairs to the dining area. He helped you grab a plate filled with food and you found a spot across from each other at one of the long tables. You mostly poked around at your food. Kung Lao filled the silence, as he often did, telling you stories about shenanigans that he and Liu Kang had gotten into as teenagers. He spoke so animatedly that you would have smiled no matter what kind of story he was telling you.
You poked at the eggroll on your plate with your chopstick and then pushed a few vegetables aside. Nothing looked appetizing and your stomach was sour.
“You’re not eating.” He pointed to you with his chopsticks, mouth full.
“Oh?” You didn’t think that he’d been paying attention. “I did say several times that I wasn’t hungry.”
“You should eat.” He spoke between bites. “And you shouldn’t worry so much. It’s going to be okay.” He picked up the eggroll from your plate and took a bite out of it with a grin. “If you aren’t going to eat it, then I am.”
“Hey!” You swatted at his hand with your chopsticks, and he stole a mushroom from your plate before eating it with a smirk. A few other monks came to join you but sat tables away from you to avoid conversation. You ignored them but could feel them looking at you every so often before conversing. Chen hadn’t been kidding. This really was far too familiar. You ignored them and you chatted casually before Kung Lao walked you back to your room.
He looked like he wanted to say something before he left but instead, he gave you a hug and promised to see you the next day.
Days past and while you hadn’t see Liu Kang even once since you’d woken up you were getting used to seeing Kung Lao and spending most of your days with him. Even so, you were worried about Liu Kang. Kung Lao had reassured you that he was just busy but you couldn’t help it. Your brain was mean.
On the fourth day after you had woken up, the temple was buzzing with excitement. The remnants of a strong typhoon would be hitting around nightfall. It would go on for a few days. You spent much of that day helping the monks prepare for the big storm. By nighttime you were all to be safely inside because of the lightning and the rain.
In the infirmary, you helped put away the last of the extra supplies they’d gotten with word of the storm. Then you helped the monks that were near the main entrance to the temple, making sure that everything was put away and secure. It felt good to be of use and while every so often someone would whisper about you, they were also kind to you.
Thunder rumbled in the distance as evening approached. It sent chills down your spine. This would be the first storm you’d seen since coming to Raiden’s Temple. It would be a doozy.
You loved what most people would consider gloomy weather. Maybe it was because so many people disliked it that you were happy to see it. No matter the reason, you were excited. You’d been drawn to bad weather like a moth to every light it came across.
Back home you would sit on the patio of your dojo and watch the rain and listen to the thunder until the lightning got too close and dangerous. You missed that.
You should have probably found a safe place to watch the storm from but the view from the front of the temple would be unbeatable. After a few days rest you were feeling more yourself and decided that watching the storm would be a treat.
Now you just had to decide where to watch it from.
The front of the temple? (Liu Kang)
Or somewhere safer inside? (Kung Lao)
You run into Chen (Both)

The Three Times James "Bucky" Barnes Broke your heart
This was inspired by @msmarvelwrites 2k Writing Challenge because I'm a sucker for Taylor Swift especially sad Taylor Vibes. I chose the all too well lyrics.
Apparently, I can't do anything small so it's in two parts.
Part 2 Here
Pairs Bucky x Reader and Pietro x Reader. (Not at the same time)
No smut but mentions of sex so 18+
Themes: highschool, cheating, college/uni. Friendship
Words 5659 its Suburban AU.
Winter 2018
You sat on the window seat, head resting on the cool glass a mug of hot chocolate between your hands. Winter in New York was something else, the way everything sparkled in the blanket of snow. This wasn’t your first December in the “Big Apple” but it was your first after moving here. Like the walking cliché you were you had moved here for a Fresh Start, after being offered a once in a lifetime opportunity of working for Tony Stark. You hadn’t planned on taking the job working as head of advertising for Stark Industries. The idea of moving from your small town in Michigan away from your family, everyone you knew and loved, and most importantly away from your best friend and your on-again-off-again boyfriend Bucky seemed ludicrous. You knew James or Bucky as he was to those who knew and loved him would never leave Michigan not if it meant leaving her.
James and you had been friends since, well as since long as you could remember. You had lived on the same street, gone to the same schools, played in the streets on your bikes when you were 8, played in the local park between the ages of 10 and 12. When you both hit 13 everyone assumed you would both either stop being friends or would fall romantically in love. Neither of those happened at least not right away. You two carried on hanging around each-others houses, playing video games and watching movies. Bucky had always been fiercely protective over you, his blue eyes narrowing at anyone who dared to pick on you when you were younger. His eyes would light up when you walked into the room, he loved Friday nights saved just for the pair of you to watch cheesy horror films, lounge around his sofa and stuff your faces with popcorn.
2008
Everything changed when you were 15, you and Bucky had always been inseparable, when no one asked you to combined Prom in your Freshman year, Bucky had surprised you. Showing up at your house dressed in a suit and tie with a white rose corsage, his long brown hair slicked back. You walked downstairs in your ballet slipper pink chiffon dress, your locks twisted into an intricate bun, this was the first time you’d worn heels and you nearly missed the bottom step when you saw Bucky in his Grey Suit stood in your living room. Bucky had tried out for the football team and obviously to no ones’ surprise had become the Star QB. As a result of that Bucky’s grey suit stretched across his muscular frame. Once you’d saved yourself from falling face-first down the last stair you walked over to Bucky grinning like a fool. “Bucky, what, what are you doing here? I thought you were going with Sam and Pietro and the rest of the football team” you said. “Well, I couldn’t leave my best girl flying solo at our first prom now, could I?” Bucky grinned down to you. “Besides the rest of the guys were meeting dates at the dance, so I told them I’d meet them there with you” you felt yourself blush at Bucky’s term of endearment. You and Bucky posed for photos for your Mum and Dad, your Dad trusted Bucky like his own son so there was no awkward father stare down there, you even had your curfew extended to 2 am.
The prom itself was magical, Bucky introduced you to his teammates and their dates. Sam was there with a cheerleader, Jane Foster she was friends with the cool alternative girl Wanda Maximoff who was Pietro’s twin sister they were Sophomores but made you feel welcome at their table. Complimenting your hair and shoes. Pulling you onto the dancefloor to dance with them and the rest of the cheerleaders and co to the pumped-up pop songs that blasted out. The way the gym had been transformed was nothing short of breath-taking, led fairy lights strung up in waves from the ceiling, silver stars hanging against the velvet blue backdrops made you believe you were spending the night under the stars. When the music changed to a slow song -Tim McGraw by an up-and-coming artist Taylor Swift. The Group of girls surrounding you soon dissipated to slow dance with their respective others. You started to make your way back to the table you’d been sat at, happy to finally take a breather when you felt someone tug on your wrist. You turned around fully prepared to slap whatever creep had felt it suitable to touch someone they didn’t know but your face softened to find the familiar blue-eyed, muscular brunette smirking at you. “Miss Y/N” may I have this dance?”, he asked. “Why certainly, MR James Buchanan Barnes” you replied chuckling to yourself. Bucky cocked an eyebrow at the use of his full name before pulling you tight towards him. He wrapped your arms around his neck before wrapping his around your waist. Your breath caught in the back of your throat, you and Bucky had never been this intimate, sure still hugged and had kissed each other on the cheek when you were like 5, but this felt different. The way Bucky enveloped you, the scent of his aftershave mixed with his mum’s washing powder he smelt like cherry blossom mixed with sandalwood. You rested your head on Bucky’s chest, closing your eyes deciding to take this all in. A small smile tugged on your lips as you felt Bucky stroke your hips. You didn’t know it, but he looked at you with such love and adoration and his heart squeezed watching you rest your head on his chest the smile on your pale pink lips. Bucky moved his right hand from your waist and brought it to your cheek, slightly stroking it before lifting your face to look him in the eyes. His eyes shone with affection; his eyes so blue like the ocean you felt like you were drowning in them. Then his lips were on yours crashing against your slightly chapped lips, you cursed yourself for not wearing Chapstick like the cheerleaders and Wanda did. However, as the kiss deepened, and you felt Bucky’s left-hand grip on you together and you melted into the kiss everything else faded away. Bucky drew back and looked at you. Your smile dazzling him as your eyes shone back at him. Neither of you said a word as he pulled you back to his chest whilst the DJ played another slow song.
2009 - 2010
Bucky and you dated from the end of your Freshman year right up until the summer before your senior year. Bucky and you had been inseparable for most of your High School life, he even convinced you to try out for the cheerleading squad in your Junior year, usually you sat on the Side-lines with Wanda and Carol Danvers, it wasn’t that you didn’t want to be a cheerleader it's just you were comfortable being “Bucky’s Girl” the one everyone knew without being in the spotlight, however after Wanda and Carol egged you on saying that you had the moves you went for it. You surprisingly made the squad. You couldn’t wait to tell Bucky, warmth spreading through your cheeks at the thought of how he’d be so proud. You decided to keep it quiet until you had your uniform. Jane and the girls had also promised to keep their mouths shut until you’d had the chance to surprise him. So, when homecoming rolled around, and you got your uniform for the first time you went along to the locker rooms where the football team would be heading off to change before the big pep rally. You stood against the wall one foot pressed against it, your knee bent whilst you waited. You heard Sam and Pietro before you saw them. They turned the corner roughhousing one another playfully. “Looking good Y/N” Sam shouted as he clocked you in your brand-new uniform. “looks like Bucky’s personal cheerleader now cheers for us all,” he said walking over to you and enveloping you in a hug. You giggled and at that moment Bucky Turned the corner with Peter Parker a freshman. He couldn’t see your uniform from the way that Sam’s body was covering yours, but he saw your face and started running down the hallway to you. As Sam and Pietro headed inside, he finally got to see the big reveal, he stopped in his tracks for a second. His eyes taking in every inch of your body, the skirt shorter than anything you owned, the top hugging your curves. He ran over to you picking you up and spinning you in the air as you squealed. “I knew you could do it Doll,” he said as he peppered kisses over your head, cheek, and lips. You blushed at his praise. Your Junior year with Bucky was a blur, between the football games, classes, parties’ dates with Bucky you felt like time was rushing past. You Even won Prom King and Queen at your Junior Prom. To no one’s surprise. However, that summer everything changed.
Summer 2010
You were on holiday with your family, visiting your grandparents in Miami. Every year you for as long as you could remember you and your family would spend the last 3 weeks of summer break at your grandparents. You had begged Bucky to come with you as he had in the past, however, due to football camp, he had been unable to swing it. “Hey, I’m sorry doll, it’s just coach said if I didn’t go he wouldn’t consider me for team captain,” he said hugging you from behind as you sat on your porch steps, his chin resting on your head. He had sworn to you that you would text every day and would skype at least once a week for the three weeks you were there. However, after the first week, Bucky’s texts had become less and less frequent. He’d only Skyped you once and you’d get texts from Various friends asking where you were as you weren’t at the latest party. On the final night of your holiday, as you walked along the beach by yourself taking in the last of the holiday feel your phone rang, you looked down it, confused when the caller Id said, Jane. “Hey, babe. Look I’m not sure how to say this” but uh we’re at a small party at Wanda and Pietro’s there’s about 15 of us, including this friend of mine Nat and uhm well, Bucky’s pretty wasted and well after I noticed I hadn’t seen him for a while I went looking for him”. Jane’s voice sounded stressed. You squeezed your eyes shut as tears tried to escape, not liking where this was going. “And uh, oh god I’m really sorry girl, but I, I kind of walked in on them fucking” Jane blurted it out, going for the band-aid approach as if saying it quicker would make it the cut sting any less. You didn’t say anything, you just stood there staring out the black ocean, the warm sand between your toes, feeling your heartbreak. You couldn’t believe it. Your sweet protective Bucky who had beaten up Miles Morales in 8th Grade for standing you up for an arcade date and breaking your heart. “I, I, I got to go my flights early tomorrow. My, my family will be wondering where I am” you stumbled over your words trying to get off the phone as quick as possible not wanting anyone to hear you cry.
Senior year was one of the most painful years, Bucky had met you at your house the day you got back, sitting on the wooden steps to your porch. He looked like he had barely slept, much like you. You were an only child, but your older cousin who was transferring to Michigan State University for his second year had come home with you. He took a look at Bucky and then back at you, you nodded telling him it was fine and that you had this. He walked inside but not before muttering punk under his breath. Bucky winced, he looked at you his blue eyes that once shone with nothing but love and adoration for you, now looked blank, empty, and almost unrecognisable. His brown hair which he had cut in his Sophomore year looked a mess. He started towards you, but you held your arm out.
“Don’t,” you said. He looked crestfallen and his heart shattered as you struggled to hold yourself together. “Doll, I’m so sorry, I don’t know what came over me, please, look at me, ill make it up to you, it will never happen again” he pleaded with you, his ocean blue eyes stared at your red brimmed eyes, cheeks puffy and streaked from all the crying over the last 16 hours. “Just don’t” You warned him. “Look, baby, it was a mistake, it meant nothing to me” he continued to plead despite your warning reaching out for your hand. His words hit you like a knife, you two hadn’t slept together yet and here he was claiming this meant nothing. You wrenched your hand free from him his touch burning you with his betrayal. “It meant nothing. It meant nothing!?! If it meant nothing you wouldn’t have slept with this Natasha James” you whispered. Bucky flinched at the use of his real name. Oh, how you wanted to shout, thrash scream at him and tell him you would forgive him, but you couldn’t. You had looked up the girls Instagram that night when you laid in bed crying and you couldn’t help but compare yourself to her the gorgeous read head with curves in all the right places. You started to walk towards your house. Unable to keep the tears back and not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing you cry, Bucky called out for you, pleading with you. “I thought you loved me James, but it clearly meant something to you, or else you wouldn’t have thrown away two years of dating and 12 years of dating for sex with someone that wasn’t me, we were meant to be each other’s firsts, but you decided you couldn’t wait to get your dick wet so you went and fucked this chick you’ve known for what 5 minutes?” you cried out in anger, Bucky flinched again as if you’d slapped him. “Actually, I met her last year at one of our away game parties” he mumbled, his feet kicking the dirt around his feet. “I think you should leave” you whispered, choking back a sob before you ran into your house slamming the door behind you.
You and Bucky barely spoke that entire final year of school, you had been voted cheer Captain at the end of the summer semester, much to Jane’s approval, and you loved being a cheerleader, so you threw yourself into that as well as the school’s production of Little Shop of Horrors. You cheered at the games putting on your show face and hyping up the crowds. You wowed in the role of Audrey in the show, avoided parties with the football team and buckled down focusing on your exams and audition for the performing arts programme at the University of Michigan. After Bucky had realised, he was never going to get you to forgive him he had ended up dating Natasha. The news hit you like a sucker punch to begin with but after meeting up with Wanda, Carol, and Jane during the spring break you made your peace with it. You even smiled at Bucky in the hallways when you saw each other. By the time Graduation rolled around you had healed.
November 2011
You ended up getting into the University of Michigan on a partial scholarship thanks to your cheerleading and you were enjoying the performing arts programme, the performing arts programme at the Uni had really blown up after the whole viral “A Very Potter Musical” back in 2009 and you were thrilled to be there. You had settled right in making friends with a young lad from your course Loki Laufeyson right away. He was attractive in an unconventional way, with long black hair, a tall skinny frame but he still had muscles. You two had been cast opposite each other in Romeo and Juliet during your first year and had become good friends. You even ran into Pietro frequently he had gotten a football scholarship and couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw you on the sidelines one November game. Pietro didn’t really “do” social media and hadn’t paid any attention to Wanda as you had told her, after Bucky’s betrayal you hadn’t spoken much with Sam or Pietro, after all, they were his friends and were now Uni students. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t Bucky’s girl,” he said grinning at you after the game, ruffling your hair like you were 5 again. You couldn’t help but wince at the old pet name, everyone in the group had called you it, Sam, Wanda, Carol even Jane but you hadn’t been Bucky’s girl for a year, well longer if you take into consideration the fact he’d been chatting with Natasha on and off for the entire year before they slept together. “It’s just Y/N” or you can call me cutie you said winking at Pietro, he chuckled. “How about I just call you tomorrow?” he retorted, you felt yourself blush. Pietro had always been a cocky confident guy, his silver-blonde hair covering his ice blue eyes, he had always been a hit with the ladies, but he seemed that bit more attractive, slightly leaner, still confident but not arrogant. You shrugged before pulling out a sharpie from your bag, you wrote down your number on his arm. He cocked his head puzzled. “I changed it last year after Bucky wouldn’t stop blowing it up with apology texts,” you said simply. Before Pietro could respond you ran off to join the rest of your squad and headed for the changing room.
True to his charm and word, Pietro called you the next day offering to be your personal guide and show you all the hidden beauty spots of the campus. You accepted; even though you had been here for two months already. You walked around the campus and had a great time, you felt yourself really relaxing and laughing at his corny jokes and the way he wiggled his silver eyebrows at you whenever he made a bad joke. You couldn’t remember the last time you laughed, and you meant really laughed, the kind of clutched over struggling to get air into your lung’s laughter that the Silver-haired, blue-eyed cutie gave you. By the time Pietro had finished his tour the sun was beginning to dip, he walked you back to your dorm ever the gentleman. However, this time when your hands brushed against each other he grabbed your hand and spun you around. His hand was cool and smooth, a stark difference to Bucky’s warm calloused hands. The pair of you walked back hand in hand in comfortable silence. When you got to your dorm you leant against your door, your eyes meeting Pietro’s ice blue eyes, the almost sparkled. Pietro positioned himself so that he had one hand above your head, the other to your side trapping you between the door and himself. He leant down and kissed you. It was soft and delicate, his cool lips sucking the air out of your lungs. He pulled away winking at you before he sauntered off to join his teammates at some frat party.
That was the beginning of a three-year relationship with Pietro, you two had been on multiple dates, some official, some were just bumping into each other at the same party and then spending the rest of the evening together all through November and early December of your first year. He even came to support you at your Cheerleading competitions. Neither of you had put a label on it, but he had changed his home screen to a picture of the pair of you, it was one captured by Peter Parker, funnily enough, he was visiting the Uni with his photography club and captured the moment Pietro had picked you up after the Wolverines won their 6th game. He spun you around before dropping you down and kissing your forehead. Pietro didn’t know that you had seen his home screen. However as you were both travelling home for the Holidays you had agreed to travel together, Pietro had offered to drive but you had refused. Telling him that it would be easier for you to drive as you would be running lines late and therefore you could swing by his apartment on the way out of town. It was only a short drive to Dearborn but with the extra holiday traffic, you estimated it would take at least an hour to get to your parents. You connected your iPod to the car via AUX and pulled up your playlist you had made for the drive. You avoided all Christmas songs, and you were sick of them they played everywhere you went. Instead, you opted for Taylor Swift, damn she had blown up since 2008.
After about 30 minutes of driving as you hit the peak of the holiday traffic, you leant over to turn down the volume of your music. Comfortable with the pace of the traffic, you turned your head to Pietro. “So,” you began. “What’s up Bunny?” Pietro asked snapping his eyes up from his phone. “Well, I just thought now might be a good time to talk, we’re obviously going to run into a lot of our old friends, and there’s no way Wanda won’t know something is going on here, and I, I saw your lock screen,” you said, you could feel yourself blush, there was something about Pietro, he made you feel like a high school sophomore all over again. “So you were wondering what we are?” the amusement in Pietro’s voice didn’t escape your notice, you could feel yourself getting embarrassed. Of course, he was a college Sophomore, you two had never had the exclusive talk, how could you be so silly. You stared straight ahead focusing on the slow-moving traffic. Oh god, you wanted to die. Pietro noticed the change in your demeanour and instantly felt bad, he grabbed your right hand from the steering wheel. “Hey Bunny, look at me,” he said softly, you turned your head to face him. “We are exclusive, we are a couple, I’m sorry you felt the need to ask, but I adore you, so we are a thing,” he said stroking circles on the back of your hand. You smiled and nodded to yourself.
Almost everyone had made it back for the Holidays, excluding a few people, Bucky, Carol, and Jane, they all had their reasons, but you couldn’t help but feel a little sad that Carol and Jane had been unable to make it back. Wanda was elated for you and Pietro, to your surprise she threatened Pietro and not you. Christmas break came and went all too quickly. Pietro even brought you a small gift even though he didn’t celebrate Christmas, what with being Jewish. He was also very touched at your gift a small, framed copy of the photo of his lock screen, only in black and white except for the ribbon in your hair, the number on his Jersey matching his number painted on your cheek. The next year also seemed to rush by, between keeping on top of your studies, your rehearsals for the play, football matches, nationals for your cheerleading competition. It felt like you had barely any time to breathe.
2012
The summer between your 1st year and 2nd year was a small respite, Pietro had decided to stay in his apartment for the summer, he had a summer job and you decided to stick around after trying out for a local theatres summer production of Grease, unsurprisingly you had been cast as Patty Simcox a cheerleader. “How ironic, my little cheerleader playing a cheerleader” Pietro joked. You just rolled your eyes at him, that night Pietro stayed in your dorm, you were going to have to move out for the summer, your roommate for the year had decided she was going to move into her Sorority House next year and was going home for the summer. You and Pietro were cuddled up on the sofa watching Grease, you had your legs over Pietro and the arm of the sofa. To your surprise, Pietro had confessed he’d never seen it and had asked you to watch it with him so he could see who you would be playing. You let out a sigh. “What’s up bunny?” he asked not taking his eyes of the movie, he was rubbing small circles on your legs. “Student housing emailed me today, they said since Sophie is moving out and going home for the summer. I can’t stay in my dorm this summer. I’m trying to figure out where to go as the apartment I want to rent isn’t available until August” you said, blowing your hair out of your face. “Move in with me for the summer,” Pietro said without skipping a beat. “We’re not going to be around much in the daytime, you’ve spent a lot of nights at mine recently and it’s just for the summer, theirs a spare bedroom where you can store your stuff, and Wanda will be visiting in 3 weeks, it’s no big deal,” he said as he continued rubbing circles on your legs. You stared at him for a moment, your mind racing. “Okay,” you said nervously biting your lip. “Okay, I’ll move in for the summer,” you said again this time sounding surer of yourself. You picked up the remote and pressed pause on the DVD. You and Pietro had been dating for most of the school year, and he had been nothing but a gentleman never pressuring you for more than you were comfortable with, he knew Bucky had hurt you and you still hadn’t had sex yet as a result of it. You stood up a peeled of your jumper, Pietro cocked his head with his cute, puzzled expression. You didn’t say anything, instead, you removed your athletic shorts leaving you in nothing but one of Pietro’s football jerseys and your panties. You walked to your bedroom. Pietro didn’t move. After a few moments of waiting for him to follow you walked to your door frame and coughed, Pietro looked at you. “Well, are you coming or not handsome?” you asked leaning against your frame, so his jersey rid up slightly exposing the skin of your stomach. Pietro chucked his phone on the sofa before throwing you over his shoulder. That night you and Pietro had sex for the first time.
December 2012
Summer came and went in a blur of a heatwave, and lots of sex. You moved into your apartment off-campus, you spent a lot of time hanging out with Loki between classes, throwing ideas back and forth for an original piece you had to work on for the spring showcase. Pietro and you would always ride to games together, with Pietro being in his third year, the team bus rides were no longer compulsory and as the college couldn’t afford for the squad to have a bus you had to make your own way to the away games anyway. You and Pietro had driven home for Winter break, your family had decided to head to Boston this year, that way your cousin could see his family, however as you and Pietro had a game two days after New Years it didn’t make sense for you to fly out for such a short period off time. This was your first Christmas in years where you wouldn’t be seeing your family, or even celebrating really. However, Wanda and her Mum had insisted Pietro bring you home with him for the winter break. So that was how you found yourself sat in Pietro and Wanda’s basement drinking beer and hanging out with the old gang along with some new faces. Carol had brought home her girlfriend Valkyrie, Jane and Sam were there, even Peter Parker who was now a senior was there he’d even brought his girlfriend Gwen with him. Wanda had brought home her Boyfriend James or Vision as he was affectionately known. Wanda was studying Fashion in NYC; Vision was studying IT and was a whiz with technology. You were cuddled up in the corner of the sofa with Pietro, he was playing some game with Sam and Peter and you were scrolling through your IG feed. Taylor Swift’s latest Album Red playing through the speakers. Pietro had groaned but with Sam being a secret Swifty he was quickly outvoted. You kissed Pietro’s cheek getting up to grab another bottle of beer each. You were technically underage for another few months, but Wanda’s mum had said if you were going to drink whilst you were here, she’d rather you did it under her roof in a safe controlled manner.
You heard him before you saw him. Being the gracious guest you are, you had noticed the beer was low in the fridge, so you were restocking it when you heard Bucky’s familiar laugh. You may have made peace with what Bucky had done but other than a quick congratulations and farewell at Graduation you hadn’t spoken since that summer back in 2010.
Bucky walked over to the fridge, you had changed your hair colour since you’d last seen him at Graduation in 2011, your usual hair was now a chocolate brown, you had your head in the fridge still when he coughed. “Hi I’m Bucky,” he said. You took a deep breath, grabbed three bottles of beer and pulled your head out of the fridge, turning around to face him. “I’m well aware who you are, Bucky,” you said handing him a beer. Bucky’s eyes widened as his ocean blue eyes reached yours. “Hey Buck,” you said softly. “Y/N. I didn’t recognise you” he grinned, moving to hug you. You let it happen, standing stiffly in his arms. “Yeah it's been a minute, how’s school, and Natasha, I heard you got into UDM?” you asked shooting him a smile before twisting the lid of your bottle. “Yeah, I did. Schools great kicking my ass a bit and Natasha and I broke up actually” he said avoiding eye contact with you. You and Bucky made polite conversation for a few minutes Pietro finished up his game with Sam and Peter, noticed you hadn’t returned so made his way over to you and Bucky. “Hey Bunny,” he said kissing the corner of your head before wrapping his arms around you. “Hey Buck, long time no see!” Pietro said. Bucky stood frozen for a few seconds processing what he had just witnessed. “Hey, Pietro Yeah. It's been a hot minute, so you two are a couple? You guys look cute congrats. Oh man, wow is that Peter over there? I barely recognise him I’m going to go say hey. Catch you guys later!” Bucky said practically running over to Peter. You turned around and kissed Pietro. “Come on Quicksilver, let’s see if I can beat you at Mario Kart,” you said pulling him over to the sofa.
December 2012 – August 2014
Winter break came and went. Your second year at Uni whizzed past. Pietro even joined you and your family for your annual summer vacation in Miami, your grandparents were getting on a bit so you decided to skip the summer production of Hairspray. By the time, your third year rolled around you and Pietro settled into a routine between school, studying, games and rehearsals you would steal kisses in the hallways, meet one another at classes with hot drinks, coffee for Pietro not that he needed a boost of energy and usually a hot chocolate for you. After football games, Pietro would drive you back to his apartment. If it were a rare free evening, you’d curl up with a movie at yours. Hanging onto the small moments of peace. You both knew Pietro was going to be moving to New York after he graduated. He’d been studying business and was going to start a fashion company with Wanda. You also both knew that long-distance wasn’t going to work, you’d been majoring in performing arts, but you had also been taking extra courses to help with a career in advertising as a backup. Saying your goodbyes to one another sucked ass. You and Pietro had left your annual Miami holiday a week early to spend a week in Florida visiting the Theme Parks, Wanda and Vision were also going to meet you there. Neither of you had grown up exceptionally wealthy, but Wanda and Pietro’s dad Max Eisenhardt had reached out to them a few years back and had insisted on paying for the four of you to have a group vacation. He had tried to convince Wanda and Pietro to book a holiday in Germany where he was living but they had refused. Pietro had already packed up his apartment and moved most of it back to his family home whilst you finished up school for the year. He had been staying with you for the summer before joining you on your vacation so when you headed to the airport it was time to say your goodbyes. “Be good Bunny, don’t cause too much mischief with Loki and stay in touch. I love you my little Bunny” he said wiping the tears from your eyes. You couldn’t say anything, so you just held him tight and cried.

Harry Potter x Reader- Drinks
Hi! I just saw that your requests are open, would you write a soulmate au with harry potter himself? 💕
g...uardian (it is said that the person who saves you from a near-death experience is your soulmate—drowning, car crash, etc.)
“Drinks tonight?” You asked, poking your head in at your long time friend Harry Potter. His head was sunk low into his hands as paperwork piled up high around him in suffocating towers.
“Huh?” He murmured through an exhausted haze. The startling color of his eyes were glazed over with sleep and you felt bad for disturbing him but you figured he’d much prefer to apparate back to his apartment and sleep in a bed than be left alone to wake on a cold desk with his back in shambles. “Oh, Y/N, I-”
“Get home safe,” You simply said, ruffling your fingers through his hair. Your heart jumped violently in your chest as the man leaned into your touch, a throaty sigh falling from his lips.
“’M sorry, know we been talking about a night out for weeks I just-”
“Shut it Potter, it isn’t easy being an auror,”
“At least let me walk you to your floo,” Harry offered as you silenced his apologies, grabbing his coat off the back of his chair as he rose from his seat, stretching his back and rolling his head on his shoulders.
“Fine,” It was impossible to fight the small grin his gentlemanly offer brought to your face.
You were even more pleased when he slung his arm around your shoulder, tucking you against his side without a second thought as the pair of you walked the now empty halls of the ministry.
“Don’t know why you don’t just apparate-” Harry sighed, good-naturedly.
“You know very well why I don’t,”  You snapped immediately, more bite in your voice than you ever wanted to use with Harry. He was your friend, had been since school, and more than that you were harboring a not so little crush on him.
Harry winced. Right. The details were even fuzzy for you so he only had a loose understanding of what had happened but he had seen the scars on your left calf and right arm. It had been during the war, a rogue spell as you tried to apparate had caught you on your shoulder and then you were being spit out nowhere close to where you wished to be, your calf in ruins and the flesh on your shoulder burned and melting from the bone.
“Sorry-”
“You’ve got a lot of apologies tonight,” you poked fun, trying to lighten the mood as the floo network within the ministry opened up to you, the green flames not doing as much to light the area as you thought they would.
“Just not thinking straight,” The man explained and when he pulled away from you, fingers drifting down your arm and then falling to his side, you nearly thought you’d seen his gaze dart to your lips before quickly going back to your own eyes.
Your back was to the floo, eyes still connected with Harry’s and you wanted to say something more to promise you’d only been teasing and it was okay that he’d reminded you of a not so kind curse and a very unpleasant splinching. You were still here, getting to experience the absolute shit experience of waking up too early for a job and the stomach flipping joy of being in love with someone and more, it was more than you could say for too many of your friends, housemates, and family members.
“Harry you know I-” You started, not actually sure of what you knew, nor of what you were going to say, when a loud and terribly misaimed hex landed much further above your head than was intended. The marble above you cracked and groaned, splintering off and raining dust around you as your eyes grew wide- heart in your throat.
“Get down!” Harry hissed, grabbing your hand and tugging you behind a wide pillar, his wand already drawn. Another hiss of air and then the boom of impact echoed through the room and you searched for where you thought the assailant, or assailants, might be.
“What in the hell-” You growled, tossing a quick curse out into the general direction you thought might contain the attacker.
“I can’t see them,” Harry was more than displeased and you were going to make it worse as you shot him an apologetic look and darted into the open. It would be easier for them to get a shot at you but then Harry could spot them just as easily when whoever was behind the attack went for you.
“Y/N!” He hissed, rolling his eyes at your stupidity as you through up a shield, having nearly been caught by the green flash of light sent your way. You swallowed the lump in your throat when a second flash of light connected with the ground beneath you and set a sharp spray of pulverized marble into your leg. At least you had confirmed there were two of them.
You spun around on your foot, looking to confront whoever had attacked your back but made the mistake of turning your back on the one who had attacked your front.
Two sparks of light were speeding towards you but instead of hitting you, they nearly met and fizzled out- your body being propelled to the ground, Harry having tackled you.
“Of all the things to do!” He shouted at you, grabbing your hand and dragging your now very sore body back to safety. You felt like you were going to be sick but his tone was so like Molly Weasley’s you found yourself letting out a sharp laugh. “You’re laughing?! I thought I was crazy but no you just had to-”
The both of you were cut off when your attackers spells came too close to comfort but were stopped by a brilliant dome of protection that had manifested itself around you and Harry. You gasped, realization dawning on you once you noticed that neither of you had been paying enough attention to protect yourselves.
It was hard knowing who your soulmate was nowadays, some never truly found out but you had an inkling that everyone ended up with who they were meant to be with. Despite that, everyone’s experience was different when they were saved by their soulmate.
Your father said your mother had saved his life simply by being the good influence he had needed in his life. The next time he saw her after this realization, she’d had a halo of blue light around her and he knew for a fact no one else could be his soulmate. Your aunt had said that her wife had pushed her out of the way of a rampaging and wild hippogriff when they’d snuck out to the forbidden forest as teenagers. Her wife had then been encased in that same brilliant blue when the Hippogriff had picked her as a target instead. The animal backed off, and your aunt had known then.
Now, with the blue dome surrounding you and Harry from harm, you knew.
And from the look of it, he did too. His eyes had gone wide, that harsh concentration that came when someone he cared for was in danger.
“Fuck, now of all times?” You swore, another hex going off above your head- the shield beginning to waver.
“Drinks after we get out of this alive?” Harry asked, a near smile on his face at your clear frustration at the poor timing.
“I like how you think, Potter,”
And with that, you grasped Harry’s hand in yours, both of your wands drawn, and charged into the open.

Delusional - Part 9!
When Delaney woke up she didn't recognize anything around her. One thing she did know is she felt like she had been hit by a truck. Looking around her, the dimly lit room was empty apart from a shabby wooden table a few feet infront of her with a camera tripod placed in the centre. Looking down at the uncomfortable chair she was sat in she silently thanked god she was still in her shorts and Jax’s T-shirt she wore yesterday. As her head pounded painfully she tried to think back to yesterday and how the hell she ended up here. She couldnt remember anything after crying in the bathroom as Jax left. Jax. Oh God. He was probably hauled up with Tara making up for lost time. he probably didnt even know she was gone. Tears welled in her eyes as she realised no one was looking for her. No one knew she was gone. Before she could let herself panic too much the heavy steel door to the right of the room was slammed open. Out walked Kevin and Delaneys stomach dropped heavily. Yes Kevin was weird but he couldnt be the matermind behind this. NO. Delaney was 100% sure there was something else to this. She didnt have to wait long to get her answer either. A few minutes later Alex followed Kevin into the cold room with a video camera held tightly in his hands. Delaney Knew she was right. Her Jaw fell slack as she made eye contact with the man that ruined her life and nearly killed her. The man she was convinced for years she loved deeply. “Hey Babe, Did you miss me?” Alex smirked at the shock that was still clear on he face. “What? W-why? H-how?” Delaney could barley speak never mind stutter the small questions she do desperately wanted answers to. “Oh sweetie ill explain everything dont you worry. But first things first-” Alex raised his finger dramatically and turned to the video camera that now sat firmly on the tripod. Pressing the ON button and connecting a cable it beeped to life. “ I dont think your little Biker Bitch will want to miss out on this.” Before Delaney could say anything a chain was tightly hooked to the handcuffs around her wrists and yanked upwards. In seconds she was hung from the ceiling with her arms suspended above her head. Gasping in pain she clenched her eyes shut tightly. Her shoulders were on fire immediately and her toes barley brushed the damp floor. Glaring at Alex as he came to stand Beside her Delaney scoffed. “So whats the plan? Kill me? Send the video to the club? You know they’ll kill you right? You kill me and Jax will come for your head.” Alex burst out laughing and shook his head. “Oh Baby girl, you’ve grown some balls since you were mine.” Grabbing her face tightly he yanked her forward on the chain so she was closer to the camera. “This is being streamed to the Clubhouse as we speak. Kevin here managed to change the connection at the last beer delivery and you didnt even notice.” Tutting at her sarcastically Alex let go of her face and smiled at her. “Kevin here is a sucker for a pretty face. He fell for you pretty quickly. I find it quite rude you weren’t particularly nice about the gifts he left for you. The notes were me ofcourse. Poor Kevin here doesnt have the same artistic flare as me.” Alex’s smile was sinister as he turned from Delaney to take a Knife from Kevin. Delaney’s stomach turned as he made his way back towards her and grabbed her neck tightly so she couldnt flinch away. The grin on his face made Delaney feel sick as he cut the navy blue SAMCRO T-shirt from her body. She could only hope that whatever it was he had planned for her, he would kill her quick.
The slamming of the clubhouse door hinted at Jax’s arrival. Half sack had called him to explain what showed up on the bar TV and within minutes every club member and Gemma was crowded around the large screen. Jax’s heart broke as his eyes locked on Delaney’s fearful ones. She was hung from the ceiling in nothing but a black lace bra and black cycle shorts. “So this is what you’ve been planning for the year we’ve been seperated? Finding me a stalker and planning your revenge?” Delaney spat angrily. Kevin stood in the corner just staring ad her as she was suspended half naked in the dirty room and it made her want to vomit. Jax turned up the volume on the TV just as Alex came into view. Looking at his mother Jax’s eyes were on fire with anger. “I thought you said he left her and moved back to England?” Gemma glared at her son. “ And i thought you were meant to be protecting her? You left her and the bastard swooped in and took her! I’m not the only one with some explaining to do am i?!” Jax shook his head and turned back to the screen. Now was not the time to argue with his impossible mother. He needed to focus on finding Delaney. He focused his attention back on the screen just in time to see Alex put the Knife to her neck. “You were mine. You really think i was going to let you go that easy? We would still be together if it wasnt for Jaxon Teller. You didnt care about me anymore once you met him.” Alex Gripped Delaney by the Hair and pulled her head back exposing her neck more. “You’re wrong! About everything.” Gasping in pain as strands of her hair were pulled out by the roots Delaney had to argue. She couldnt let him blame everything on Jax. “You’re just upset you lost your fucking punchbag! You beat me almost every day i was with you for nothing. The day i got that Job at Teller-Morrow was the day i got part of my life back. I wasnt just your housewife anymore. I had my own money and i was saving up to leave you.” Alex stepped away from Delaney his face crimson red with anger, But with tears streaming down her face she continued to tell him the truth. Her Truth. He needed to know just how much of a monster he was. “Then i came home late from a club party late, they’d asked me to work the bar, do you remember? How you accused me of sleeping with every member? How you told me the only thing i was good for was being passed around? That no one would ever want me?! Do you remember Alex? How you beat me so bad my eyes were swollen shut for days. How i was unconscious on our kitchen floor for 2 days. How you stomped on my chest the next morning and broke 4 of my ribs because i physically couldnt get up and make you breakfast! How you made me clean ourhouse on my hands and knees because i was in too weak, in too much pain to stand!” Alex scoffed as Delaney sobbed. “You fucking deserved it! You were sleeping with Teller behind my back! you just wanted to get rid of me so you could be with him. you never paid me any attention and hung around him like a desperate whore. You think i dont remember those times i came to pick you up from work to see you flirting with him right infront of my face. Laughing and Giggling like a teenage school girl! You were practically begging for him!”
Grabbing hold of the chain Delaney was tied to he spun her around. Delaney knew what was coming next and couldnt help but squeeze her eyes shut in fear. “You didn't waste any time did you you bitch? you got his crow tattooed across your shoulders. Isn’t that how that sordid little club marks women as theirs?” Delaney stayed silent and hung her head as she felt Alex press the knife into the middle of her back where Jax’s initals sat underneath the black crow in flight that stretched across her upper back and shoulders. “Its not like that.” Delaney muttered as tears welled in her eyes. “Oh did he mark you as his then threw you away like the cheap little bitch you always have been? Poor Delaney, no one ever wanted you so you throw yourself at the first man that looks your way.” More tears fell from her eyes as she Shook her head, “You know NOTHING about him. He’s more of a man than you’ll EVER be. He’s a good person, Hes loyal and he would do anything for family. You? Youre a fucking coward.” Alex’s face was like thunder. Pulling the chain hard making her yelp in pain as she was quickly turned to face him he punched her in the face making her swing backwards. Feeling the blood run down her lips Delaney grinned as she met Alex’s brown eyes. “Point proven! You’ll put your hands on a woman but you’d never hit a man. As a Great friend of mine would say you’re a Slimy Wee Bastard.” Her heart clenched painfully as she thought of Chibs he was like a father to her and she wouldnt even get to say goodbye.
Back at the Club house the other members of SAMCRO couldnt hide their shock at the revelation that Delaney had Jax’s Crow. “You marked her?” Clay nearly exploded. “You marked her as shes not even your old lady?!” Gemma didnt even jumped to her sons defence as Clay shoved Jax hard. “Its not like that. It just happened!” Jax didnt bother trying to explain. There was so much more they didnt know about his and Delaneys relationship. “But what if she wants to be with another guy? Maybe another member?” Jax lunged for the prospect at the thought of his girl being with someone else. “O-or E-even a-another guy. J-just a normal regular guy?” Juice smacked Half sack around the head for his stupidity as Opie pulled Jax back from ripping the prospect apart. “Can we please focus on trying to find her? Every minute she’s with that psycho is another minute we are closer to him Killing her.” Gemma refocused everyones attention back on the screen trying to find anything that looked familiar in the room. The needed to work out where this Idiot would take her. Jax mentally made one promise as he watched Delaneys terrified eyes. Once he had her safe in his arms. There was no way he was ever letting her go.

Uncle Charlie and the Shelby sis?
omg i love this idea !!!!
I actually think that little Shelby would be quite close to Charlie so here’s a sweet blurb! (set in 1920 - so moving towards end of season 1. i also made up charlie’s war history as we don’t know much about it)
“Fucking, shitty, stupid bastard-”
“Oi!”
When you hear the sound of the voice cutting in likely to chastise you for your use of explicit choice language while you were practically beating the shit of the hay you were shovelling for the horses, you turn around to face him. He see’s that you look rather flustered, face a bit red as you blow a sigh past your lips and shove your hair back out of your face. “Sorry, uncle Charlie.”
“Mhm,” he nods his head, “And what’ve your brothers done this time eh?” You sigh again with some sort of disgruntled huff afterwards to display your clear irritation with the behaviour of who Charlie assumed would most likely be Tommy, Arthur at a push but very unlikely to be John. John annoyed you a lot, he knew, but never tended to make you genuinely angry. At least, never angry enough to switch off the sunshine and rainbows girl who sang and hummed while shovelling hay and horse shit.
“Tommy’s being a fucking idiot. Again.” You bite harshly.
“Oi!”
“Sorry, Charlie.”
He shakes his head at you with the very slightest of smiles. “And how’s that? What’s he done?” Your uncle grabs the spair shovel from where it was leaning against the barn door so as to join you in your cleaning of the stables. Charlie can sense the anger that had built in you from Tommy’s seemingly incessant enforcement of all sorts of new and more restrictive rules for the members of the family - especially you and slightly Ada - since he had started to try expand the business into the race tracks. He doubts this time will be any different from the last three times you’ve complained about him in the last week.
“Finn’s 11 and he gets to go with them to the races sometimes, but i’m nearly 17 and i can’t even step out the house without an escort when the boys aren’t in Small Heath. It’s so unfair!” You rant almost desperately. The frustration is clearly heard in your words, and Charlie was no fool to picking up on your feelings by the way you spoke and acted. Charlie very, very much understands your brothers desires to keep you safe; you’re his favourite if he’s totally honest. So he’s incredibly protective himself, he felt quite a sense of fatherly responsibility for you.
Charlie had gone to fight in France for around a year and a half. That definitely did a number on him, but he was transferred home after being shot. It was then that he was appointed a post on the home front as a farmer and some kind of war horse breeder and trainer because he was so good with animals. As a result, it had become his job to look after you during the years of the war that your brothers were away. Polly did your breakfasts and dinner and would make sure you were well looked after, but Charlie took you out to the farm during the day where he would make packed lunches. You would get to pick vegetables, train the sheep dogs, collect wool and the likes of that sort of work. He knew that since you were 12, had you stayed hanging around the factories in Small Heath, you might’ve ended up having to work in one, so brought you to work with him instead. It had brought you extremely close to your uncle.
It’s why now, it was his scrap yard you went to when Tommy and the rest of the family were getting to you. He would often find you there, felt like a sixth sense of some sort that he would just get a feeling you were there - if he hadn’t heard you shouting or singing. Most commonly your troubles were caused by or at least had some distant correlation to Tommy and something he had done. The head of the family does of course think through his decisions and what they’re impact will be, but the one mistake Thomas tends to make when he thinks abouts these impacts is what appears to always affect you.
And that is, that he looks for direct danger. He overthinks and spends nights riddled with fear that his plan will bring harm to those he loves. He fears Billy Kimber will come to try and take from Tommy what he holds most dear in retaliation if he doesn’t act exactly the right way. He fails to look at less direct impacts. He sees your protection escorts as keeping you from being harmed and sees keeping you in the house constantly as ensuring he knows that you’re safe, always. He doesn’t see you missing out on your youth or missing your friends or feeling threatening and anxious at the fact you’re always either in house arrest or practically with a fucking protection detail. He never thinks like that and Charlie knows that is what gets to you so much, because you just see that as he being malicious and not thinking about what’s best for you at all.
“Sometimes i just wish we were normal y’know?” The change in tone of your voice from red hot anger to a timid quite mumble tells Charlie that you’re hurting more than you may ever let on in words. “Just miss my life.” You lament lowly, dropping the shovel and instead opting to drop yourself down on a nearby haybale.
Charlie signs not in annoyance or anger, but in a kind of sympathetic way as he leans himself on his shovel and turns to face your direction. “I know you do, love. Think we all do these days. Missing your brother eh?” Charlie tries to ask you as softly as he can despite having a generally grumpy, grumbling voice. The question marks another change in your demeanour as he immediately notes that your shoulders slump and you begin clenching your jaw to try not to get all upset.
You just nod in response.
“Mhm,” Charlie hums, moving to sit on the hay bale next to you, “Though so.” He pulls you into his side and feels you shaking a little with a few small sniffles to tell him your were crying. It breaks his heart and he know it would shatter Tommy’s if he knew. He had known for weeks that part of your rage and irritation was a smoke screen for the painful fact that you just missed your brother. You missed being little and holding his hand, having him play games with you and look after you, spend time with you and have genuine, actual conversations that weren’t two minutes long, arguments or about business and rules. You were still young and the four years you’d spent without them, plus the trauma you’d gone through in your life, meant that you missed and relied upon them a lot more than most would. Your hurting heart just longed for your big brother to make all things right again, just like he used to.
Things were so much more complicated now than they were before, you knew that. But it didn’t stop the hurt, it only just made it more painful.
“Listen, hey, listen,” Charlie comforts, “It’s alright. I’ll have words with that brother of your eh?” He feels you nod your head. “Yes please.” You whisper, sniffling again.
A silence falls between you as it often does, a bubble created where you could feels your feelings and your uncle would do all that he could in his limited power to move whatever kind of mountains you needed moving so you could feel better again. It was damn near his very top priority that you were provided with a better childhood and better young adult-hood than what he was able to give the Tommy, Arthur and John.
But it just so happened that Charlie Strong made a promise to the woman he loved - your mother. The woman you were so very like. He felt it his duty to protect you like a daughter because that is what your mother would have wanted. He promised to look after you and in doing so he recognised what your brothers often didn’t. Your physical well-being wasn’t everything. Of the same importance he wanted, just as the rest of the family did, for you to be safe, happy and loved in an emotional sense. They did love you, all of them. So much it was painful and so much that it was enough to do you a lifetime; they just had such a bad way of showing it.
Charlie decided it was time now to give your older brothers a wake up call. It was time they learned how to love you in a way you understood. Killing for you and keeping you bubble wrap didn’t tell you they loved you, they had to show you in a true way. They had to tell you and hold you just like he had learned to do to show his care and love for you. He had to change to accommodate how you experienced love, so he did just that; he changed.
Charlie was determined and he held a level of authority with the boys he practically raised. So starting with Tommy, he was going to enforce that same change in order to make sure you knew just how fucking loved you were in that family.
And for Charlie Strong, all of the fighting, the pushing and the moving of seemingly unmovable mountains was worth in to no end when you mumbled, “I love you, uncle Charlie.” Against his shoulder while he hugged you tight.
“Yeah yeah, Shelby,” he sniggers, pressing a kiss on top of your head, “I love you too.”
