An old house ready to fall
Windows wide
to tempt the wind
To blow through
and bring
a chill within
To match the mood
but also maybe
freshen up the air
A clean breeze
to clear the dust
that’s settled everywhere
To bring in
voices from the street
of passers by
Stirring
a yearning remembrance
of being part of life
But too much time
has passed
With the weight of a building
on foundations of glass
Cracks have long since
started to spread
Supports groaning
with vibrations of dread
An old house barely standing
on unstable ground
Waiting open and empty
to be torn down

Seven Ember Stories 9.1.22 “More Than A Season Or A State (Of Being)”
“The end is nigh!” I would have shouted, But now I simply sigh, Why try?(when if said aloud It would graduate from a lie)                Like how a whisper                Shared with a thousand strangers                Hits its growth spurt to be heard                Louder than the tears of summer                Crunched beneath the leaves grown crisper I am burnt out, browned and fallen Incapable of calling For “Help!” a word my voice will not pollinate (somewhere beneath the raked pile Sleeps my dread beneath that weight)                (Should summer sunshine refuse to rise                It might be wise to pause)                Like the honey bees flowering surprise                “No more shall the sun linger”                I mouth idly with downtrodden eyes There are flowers pressed Where words once rested “Why try?” (to appear unimpressed At the simplicity) Sunned yellow orchids laid to rest

In my mind are metaphors
Expressing abstractions
That transcend time
Shared amongst angels
Twisted by demons
Despised by the self righteous
Yet in one accord
With the like minded
Steady rays of light
That twist in the shadows
Blinding those who
Follow the wolves
Disguised as sheep
Yet reflected in the few
Who know the true source of the light
Awakening the souls
Of those who seek truth
Recognizing the journey
Learning the lessons
Moving with the way
Spreading the goodness
From within their new found peace

under pressure
the sky had never seemed more distant and more welcoming
I tore my elbows open on the cracked ground
I laid my head by the metal-link fence and felt the cold brand my cheek
through the diamonds I watched them say goodbye
pressed against the ground I wanted
I wanted some helicopter to fling me down a line
and pull me off this earth
I was tired, goddamm tired, of being scared and bloody
come on! lower down! bring me up!
but I could never say the words or feel them but as molten weights
instead I curled up on the crushed weeds and waited for the blood to dry
to scratch off the flakes and walk
I walked to the end of the chainlink fence and could I go any further?
up above there was only darkness
and that had to hide whatever scream I have

I already miss your body against mine. The way your body presses up against me. Late at night, while I'm dreaming, you're living in between my breaths, a word upon my lips, a hand running through my hair, yearning for my kiss, while the hours count down.
Upon the uncanny mountains in the distance longing for the impressions of memories that we've made and will never let fade away, you will find that I am always with you as you are always with me.

I watched that name slip off your tongue
Watched as you realized what you’d done
Watched as you recognized
Heartbreak
In the eyes of your lover
Watched love flash across your features
But it was never
Mine
For the taking

On the verge of a summer you flew
So still In my lacrimal ocean I swim
Would you Dip your magic finger here
In the depression of my fleeting whim?

far yet near
Calculated steps towards you
Estimated glances on your eyes
Counted words from my mouth
I tried not to fall for you
I've distanced myself from you
Yet in the span and spaces of time
Unknowingly, unconscious feelings
Begin to resurface.
I supposed measurements
Doesn't work on you.
Because no matter how far you are to me
You still are the closest to this heart of mine.

A pulling in
Drawn towards
A want to
wash up naked on the shore
But
without thought
a push away
a curling back and in
A wish to stay
Adrift
Asleep
Safely deep
The touch of sand
the warmth of land
But open
and exposed
Disconnected
and unknown
Back in the depths
A pull
the other way
Sinking
Floating
Slipping away
I’ll stay

Cabin Fever
The joy of amounting to nothing: ecstatic there's no lens, no crowd, no tweets or retweets, no followers or friends. Sit in your cabin and whittle, whittle and burn what you chip, empty the ashes at sunrise, carve again under your whip. - Sleeps Underground chapbook on Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I9CSZFI

music we small ones do not hear only the echoes, the thin wailing  our ears too delicate  sometimes we swim in infinite waters,  reach out and hope for life above us
we, so small, the deep the blue the humpback  so large, a shadow our smallness
crushed under the fathoms-weight smaller and smaller we miss the music we never hear, never hold not alive anymore
we would die  before we hear

And in her words, my sorrow Like a melting sun awaiting Its last breath to fill the soul of a galaxy With its last vestiges of warmth An undying sacrifice.
And in my words, her passion Like a roaring fire burning everlasting Feeding as it grows, destroying as it rebuilds Bringing life and a reason to live A beating heart.

But you see that’s the thing about
Losing someone…
The pain never goes away -
People just forget to hurt.
But me?
No…
I torture myself for you daily,
Listening to your favorite songs - knowing the lyrics will never again fall from your lips.
I buy your favorite candies - just to let them sit, untouched, untasted.
I wear your favorite clothes - knowing your hands will never again brush against the fabric.
I watch your favorite movies - knowing you will never again silently mouth the lines.
I do all the things you loved,
Just to remind myself how bad it hurts.
Because I know -
I know -
That once the pain goes away,
So do you.
And I cannot bare the thought
Of losing you
Again.
