#mcu loki is so soft compared to the other lokis

WIP Asks for Don’f Fear the Reaper!
🎧🥀🎬
🎧—What would the soundtrack be like? Is it weird that I picture a soft, delicate piano theme like this? Or something that leans toward a sweeping, tranquil sorrow like this. Then, for times that call for more layers or dramatic music, the same theme in different intensities and instruments. For the most part, this is a lower-action story compared to my others, so something that sets an environment's mood is more important to me than having a chart-topper or earworm.
Something with a classic sound. No pop covers for the end credits or random rock-n-roll songs that don't have a point other than they sound cool (lookin' at YOU, Taika Waititi).
🥀—Which character/plot point/etc is most important for an adaption to get right? Oh, Loki for sure. He's got to be his own entity in each story I write, so I know in Reaper, its a special challenge to walk that fine line between sexy, quippy asshole Loki and weary-soul-yearning-for-a-mate Loki, the former whom is very much my Nights!Loki and the latter my Snake Prince. I feel like the MCU doesn't marry these two concepts well with any character, so putting such a mixture into MY version of a film Loki would be a tenuous task.
🎬—Who would you cast as your characters? I think we all know that no one would be for Loki aside from Tom. I'd also want to bring back Tessa Thompson for Valkyrie/Brunnhilde. For our Y/N, I'm not sure I'm familiar enough with her to recommend an actor for the role. I get the feeling a Hollywood agent would immediately suggest someone gothy like Jenna Ortega, and while I like Jenna Ortega, I specifically would ask for someone who DIDN'T look like a backup singer for Amy Lee.
IDK, I kind of picture Anna Taylor-Joy as Reaper!Y/N, but not sure why.
Always game for more!

I mean in the comics they had him face several different versions of himself and come to terms with his life's consequences during a vision he had while dissolving in his father's stomach. the show isn't even coming CLOSE to how dark loki's stories can get.
EXACTLY. like. this panel alone is more unsettling than what I've seen about the TVA's blatant authoritarianness and it does it while staying lighthearted anyway??
Tumblr media
and that's without getting into whatever Ikol and Kid Loki had going on??? or how Nightmare is useless against Loki because a world where everyone believes the worst in him is his worst nightmare and that's just reality for him????? or how Loki works on using the remnants of the previous Loki to try and do better but the past still noticed the changes with Mephisto and Hel???? Loki's stuck in perpetual cycles of trying-to-be-better and being-better and being-limited-to-knowing-how-to-be-worse-and-using-it-to-be-better and selfmurders on a few notable occasions.
I don't expect the show to match up to Journey into Mystery or Agent of Asgard or any of the better comic arcs because those are masterpieces, but there are a lot of factors they seem to be trying to adapt and I hope it follows on to acknowledge that he never wanted to be a supposedly evil lying scourge.
at the very least he's dealt with psychological abuse and torture so it's not as if it would be a baseless thing to suddenly say he's suffered or regrets things and tbh if the show leads on to anything like this where even the TVA/TimeKeepers still see Loki as bad but the narrative acknowledges he isn't I'll be thrilled.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
#not to hate on the show because it IS fun and i do believe it's setting itself up to be more suspenseful and heavier#but currently any darkness is an undertone#an irrelevance a detour a footnote to what i hope is an ascent that deals with more meta and acknowledges Loki's side of things#if the female Loki Variant is bitter and trying to make their story more than what is written?????#well i already love her but it would be a lot more#Loki trying to be good and a hero by working with the TVA imo was an actual attempt to simply do that#he has no reason to stay with them of course because of their nature in immediately suspecting his betrayal and/or threatening with death#but I do think he was trying to stop the timeline from collapsing if that truly is what would happen#and that's why he wants to get to the Time Keepers you know?#because they sounds COMPLETELY dodgy and a fully-made propaganda product#if they are legitimate he'd be fine with it maybe tell them to pen better stories or tell them how wrong they were about him and others#but otherwise his story is so cruel and tragic and....... he was still willing to return to his timeline if possible#mcu loki is so soft compared to the other lokis#like#he genuinely doesn;t seem to mean people ill-will or hurt a lot of the time and at the very least doesn't enjoy it#if they make the female variant mirror king loki's character in terms of bitterness or wanting revenge i will be !!!!!!!!!!!!!#we'll see though#i guess#we've still got 4 episodes to go#the Loki show#loki spoilers#loki show spoilers

Ever since Loki and Sylvie caused that crazy nexus event while inside an apocalypse, I've believed that the one thing that will break the Sacred Timeline is Loki learning to like himself.
It should have been impossible to cause an event there. But it happened, and it happened because Loki and Sylvie were the two people involved. Two versions of one person. Loki was seeing himself from the outside for the first time, really truly seeing what makes a Loki a Loki, and then he accepted it.
Over time, he becomes softer with Sylvie, because he believes she is worth being soft with. And if he can see that about her, some part of him accepts that he is worthy of it, too.
And once that wall started to come down, Loki's natural desire to connect resurrected itself once again. His very first act in the MCU was to turn his appearance Asgardian to connect with Odin, in the hopes of being accepted. Loki speaks everyone's language but his own. He had to meet himself to learn that he's just as valid a person as everyone he tries to imitate. But with that confidence beginning to grow, thanks to Sylvie, he was able to speak to Mobius in his own soft language and hug him.
That hug wasn't Loki's love language. But it was Mobius's. Loki's love language is mirroring.
Loki might not feel like a real person, compared to all the very real people around him. Especially with all his tricks and illusions, and how he deliberately studies and mirrors the people around him, for reasons from teasing them, to blending in, to lashing out, to survival itself. His acts of self-preservation stem from the same place as his acts of bonding and affection. It's got to be a bit of a mess in his head, not knowing which motive he's using sometimes.
But more knowledge is always good, and Loki is an apt student of the universe around him. The more time he gets to study soft, stable, healthy people, the more he will mirror them. Loki is always a product of his circumstances.
Mobius set us up for this critical step in Loki's growth early on by calling him "a Loki", not just "Loki." Everyone has other versions of themselves in every timeline, but this is the Loki Show, and he has a lot of versions. Once we were ready to accept multiple Lokis, we got Sylvie, and then we got Classic Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki, Alligator Loki, President Loki... and I suspect we're not done yet.
Every Loki we've met so far is very different, because they've each had entirely different circumstances. If there is another Loki to come in the last episode, then he too will be a product of his circumstance, and our Loki will have to contend with yet more of what lies in his own heart and what he can truly be capable of.
My guess: a King Loki, who has been manipulating the Sacred Timeline via the TVA to make sure that no Lokis ever meet up and learn their true potential by accepting each other/themselves. He wants to be the Only Loki, kind of like from the movie The One, and he believes that the only person who could possibly challenge him is another Loki. So he clamps down on the timeline (maybe using the Tesseract? where is that thing, really??) and creates the TVA to destroy every other version of himself that he can, ensuring his rule as the Only Loki, God of Lies, God of The Only Story There Is.
How ironic if he ends up getting pruned by robots immune to mind control.
Loki exists in many universes, and they all need him back. If he goes full God of Stories at the end of season 1 and steals a full set of infinity stones and absolutely shatters the Sacred Timeline and yeets Lokis across the multiverse like all the hands on the clock from the title sequence springing out in Loki colors (yeah I've thought that's foreshadowing since the second I saw it), then I will be entirely thrilled.
And if he ends up with an infinity stone or two accidentally left over in his epic magic pockets, well. Good for him.

Loki Episode #1 Thoughts
Well it’s 5AM and I still can’t sleep. Surely the safest thing to do is go on social media, right?
Anyway, time to spew some brainwaves on the digital page.
I loved it. I knew I’d love the TVA - I’m a big fan of all its influences and even took some time out to watch some films about fantastic bureaucracies to prime me for it (recommendations: The Trial (1962), Beetlejuice, Brazil, Ikiru, Naked Lunch, University of Laughs, aaaand Astérix and the Twelve Tasks - thanks for attending this brief perusal of my taste in film). I loved the little characters there, and wish we had more time in some scenes (no way was that little stack of paper all that Loki had ever said, it must’ve been an index for it). Casey especially. I want more Casey. Möbius, of course, was always destined to be my new favourite character - affable personality hiding a quietly calculating mind, soft, fluffy moustache you could nestle in during stormy weather, world-weary eyes but a spring in his step. It seems Loki hasn’t quite escaped his habit of finding father figures everywhere he does.
The other best thing was the constant, beautiful, vigorous, creative, slapstick, ridiculous beat downs and humiliations they put Loki through. This show definitely gets the most important thing about Loki’s character - he’s a complete loser. A poseur, an actor in a poorly reviewed show, a wimp, and sadly aware of all of that. Loki is not a dignified character, he’s not a mastermind or a Machiavellian manipulator. Simply put, he’s not cool. He is the designated punching bag of the universe, and anything or anyone that he cares about gets punched because of him. This is what I’ve always loved about Loki since I was tiny kid reading my first books. This is what I’ve enjoyed seeing play out in the MCU most of all. I can’t tell you how important it is to me to see Loki repeatedly punched in the face, thrown to the floor, told hard truths, see his dreams reduced to paper weights and his universe contained in a snowglobe, to be made to feel small and pathetic and worse to reveal that he feels that way to someone in a position of power over him. And here, it’s for a purpose, rather than a quick one-off gag (although I do still love the Hulk Smash like everyone else). Of course I loved this when it happened in Ragnarok as well, but that film was more focused on humiliating Thor until he felt a bit like Loki had (as well it should), although that pride-beating and Thor finally ‘getting it’ did help Loki take off a lot of his false airs. Here we see the same done again in record speed, made possible thanks to Ragnarok’s good work, but nonetheless I do cherish any opportunity to see Loki mortified.
Tumblr media
A small fly in the ointment - I’m not a fan how the name ‘Laufeyson’ is just dropped casually upon him by the TVA. The name has never before been used onscreen in the MCU, thanks, I thought, to Loki’s backstory changing so drastically from the comics, making that name no longer work emotionally or even logically (it was Odin and Frigga who named him Loki afterall, so why is he bereft of the other name they gave him? If the TVA records only his birthname, how could it be Loki? I doubt two different sets of people gave him the same name, unless Loki is the equivalent of William or something). To see him not so much as protest its use was strange and out of character, and that the TVA would tell an adoptee their ‘official name’ is something they’ve never used is cruel. I would hope that’s a part of establishing the TVA as an uncaring bureaucracy, but nonetheless it’s an unwelcome, shrieking note that makes me a little nervous. I know Hiddleston has been referring to the Main-Timeline-Loki-Arc as the ‘Odinson Saga’, so it’s possible this is just a way of differentiating the two Lokis, although I do not care for it. Still, I can be patient, and I am willing to see if they will address this possibly insensitive plot point. Maybe it’s something foisted on Loki that he eventually rejects (I’m fine with him forgoing any last name at all if they need a different one) or if it’s a sign the writer might’ve confused the comics canon with the MCU’s. I don’t think that’s the case, since the rest is so well done, if a little...hand-holdy.
This is my other quiet fear.
I loved WandaVision...until episode 4. I went to film school, I excelled at English class, part of the fun for me was always being given a piece of media and deciphering its myriad meanings and interpretations. WandaVision was a Disneyfied Lynch series at first, and I had such fun pulling apart the visual metaphors, deciphering the dialogue, searching for meaning.
And then.
Monica.
Dammit, they did her dirty.
“It’s about grief,” she says.
From then on, WV spent a significant portion of every episode not only telling you what every little thing meant, but how it should make you feel.
Falling out of love at 9.18 m/s allowed for some serious acceleration by the time we hit the infamous finale.
Loki has not exactly been a difficult puzzle to solve compared to some obtuse pieces of media I adore, but by god, it was easy to take his limited screen time and talk and talk and talk about the guy. While I could fill five pages about Tony Stark, I could write a book about Loki (and it seems like I am with Finnesang, damn it). I liked interpreting, I liked using my limited knowledge of Shakespeare and Mythology to glean insight into creative choices, I even kinda liked arguing with people about who this character was. A part of me is scared that this show will just...say it. Like Monica did. And that takes something away. There was a little of that here, but I’m torn on whether it was necessary to get the people who are way off on Loki’s characterization on close to the same page as everyone else, or whether it was a little too...explain-o-vision. At the same time, speaking frankly about a character we’ve supposed about for years is refreshing, lets us clear out the old air, and maybe gives us permission to open the windows and let new things in.
That’s what I really want from the show. Some old things, plenty of new things, and lots for me to dig into and play with. I suppose I’ve already done so with material from the trailers, which means I definitely do still have something to play with, but...I just want to avoid taking the specialness out of a very special character to me.
It definitely means something that I am so exhilarated after watching it that it is now 5:30 AM and I’ve still no desire for sleep. This is gonna be an...intense six weeks.
I guess I’ll just watch Valhalla again while I chew on this first episode.

things I liked about where mischief lies
Loki is SOFT as HELL in this book holy SHIT
his obvious crush on Amora is so cute I love him
fuckinnn yearning for Theo being in denial but describing his freckles as STARS ugh he’s a simp
he’s also really fucking dumb?? he pretends to be suave and charming but he’s not he trips over things and says stupid shit when he’s in disguise and he’s just an idiot I love that for him
make Loki an idiot 2k20
a campaign I will run for the rest of my life
still extremely capable though!!! I loved the balance of “this is a stupid teenager who doesn’t know how not to be awkward” and “this is an extremely dangerous, clever, and powerful figure”
he is OBSESSED with the way he looks literally the third page of the book is devoted to his outfit and how much he loves his heeled boots
painted nails!!!
I love it because he’s been vain since the day he was born but it’s a more innocent vanity. he’s so convinced that he can’t be liked or admired, so insecure about being the second son. he chooses to look a certain way because at the same time that he wants people to like him, he’s convinced himself that they won’t. for him, deviation from the norm is a form of yearning for acceptance. whereas in the MCU, his vanity is portrayed as an egotistical cry for attention (see full-tilt diva). and yeah, it kind of was in wml, too, but he was a kid who just wanted to be liked. it’s more forgivable, younger, purer.
the fact that he had sex with Amora just. under a Ouija board table is never not going to be funny to me
there was a BED nearby you could have USED it she has CHAMBERS why did you do this
I’ve just realized that this means it’s canon that Loki fucks
I mean we been knew but it’s confirmed now
give Loki a string of all-gendered lovers in the show 2k20
another campaign I will run for the rest of my life, despite the fact that the show is already written and Marvel is full of cowards
the portrayal of his inner conflict was so fucking good the scene where he watches Amora drain Rachel what’s-her-name UGH
even when he makes the claim that he’s “decided to be evil” or whatever, he’s still unsure of it. he’s choosing the narrative because he believes he has to. he sees his character flaws, he knows that he is capable of becoming the god of mischief written in the mythology, but he always hesitates. when Amora kills Mrs. Sharp, he bites his tongue, but he’s clearly conflicted. he knows what he’s supposed to be, but he still has a faint hope that he doesn’t have to become that person. we see this in the MCU mainly through Tom Hiddleston’s acting choices (and the occasional well-placed bit of dialogue), but it’s lovely to read it so clearly.
he disdains humans SO much at the beginning but he really does grow to enjoy their company and I think it’s Fun and Spicy that he learns some level of empathy for them even if it’s reluctant
can’t stop thinking about “do you have a preference? between men and women?” “I feel equally comfortable as either”
he is constantly describing both Amora and Theo’s lips
WAIT I forgot he and Theo have a “there’s only one bed” moment in the middle??? my heart could not handle it I filtered it out
I also just loved reading a story that was really wholly his. compared with other Loki content, Thor barely appears in the book. a key component of Loki’s character is comparing himself to thor, true, but allowing him to exist outside of the sphere of Asgardian influence (read: constantly being compared to his older brother) really gave his character a chance to flourish.
the transition from desperately wanting to paint himself as the hero to confessing his theft of the stones ENDED me ugh
swallowing his pride at the beginning because of how Odin would react to defiance vs. throwing caution to the wind and full on SCREAMING at his father at the end??? show stopping. ethereal. magnificent.
this book made me forget about Infinity War and I thank god for that every day
I could probably write another several thousand words about this book but in conclusion, Loki is genderfluid and pansexual, he deserves a soft gay engineer boyfriend, and every piece of MCU content needs to be remade with him in stiletto boots as god intended

Cap-Ironman Rec Week - What-If Wednesday
It’s time to rec some Steve/Tony AUs for @cap-ironman‘s What If Wednesday! If you loved these stories half as much as I did, please shower the authors with kudos and comments <3
Underground by Margo_Kim:
Five years ago, Thor's Chitauri army decimated the Earth. Now what's left of humanity lives in bases under the Earth's surface, safe from the toxic atmosphere. Tony likes to think that humanity's adapted pretty well. After all, they have movie nights and dances; they're doing better than could be expected. But when he learns that the little world of safety and stability they've carved out is about to be slowly but surely destroyed, the New York Underground is left with only two options--fight or flight. Tony knows which one he wants. If only Steve weren't on the exact opposite side. Meanwhile, Natasha wants whatever option will save Clint, Pepper wants whatever option will save the base, Maria Hill wants whatever option will save everybody, and nobody's exactly sure who Loki's trying to save, but everyone's hoping it's more than just himself.
~ Apocalypse!AU. This fic reads like a movie, with all of the dramatic tension, an excellent ensemble cast, beautiful Steve/Tony moments and a breathtaking climax that’s everything you could ever want from a story like this. (With bonus phenomenal Loki moments, if that’s your kind of thing ;) )
ceaselessly into the past by shepherd:
Edge of Tomorrow/Live.Die.Repeat AU, following the movie. After earth is invaded by the Chitauri, Tony Stark is forcefully drafted into the military for a suicide mission. It ends up with him being inexplicably caught in a time loop that always seems to end with him dying horrifically. And, of course, the day was a Thursday- he had never gotten the hang of Thursdays.
~ Movie AUs/fusions are the Best Thing, especially if they’re half as well written as this one! I hadn’t watched the movie before reading the fic, and goddamn if it didn’t stun me with it’s excellent character-driven writing. Even after watching the movie, I can attest that none of it feels forced, but like Steve and Tony were meant to live, die and fall in love in this manner <3
Pulse and Beat series by sineala:
Cassino, Italy, December 1943. Special Agent Tony Stark, former Marvels adventurer, is sent to investigate a Cosmic Cube found by the Invaders -- and it's the perfect opportunity for him to rekindle his secret romance with Steve Rogers. But when Hydra attempts to steal the Cube, an inadvertent wish for help leads to the appearance of a Tony from the future of another world: Director Stark of SHIELD. This Tony is a man with a lot on his mind. He refuses to tell them anything about the future, but he seems to know much more than he should about Captain America. And something's happened that's clearly killing him inside, but he's not talking. When Director Stark's failed attempt to return home leads to the unexpected appearance of another visitor from his universe, all the lies come undone. Now there are two wars to fight, and the second one could ruin all of them.
~ If you’re thinking that no one needs to be told to read Sineala’s fics - well let me just say that this is one of my absolute favourite of their works and it hasn’t gotten nearly as much acclaim as it deserves! A fantastic canon-divergence Noir/616 crossover AU for the ages, with a sprinkling of 616 Civil War fix-it to really get you going.
strays by theappleppielifestyle:
Tony will take whatever he can get from Steve, which is pathetic, because he’s not even really friends with him.
Or, the highschool!AU where Pepper is Tony's much-needed therapist, Darcy is his parter in crime, Bruce needs to go through puberty, Clint shows up to school with bruises and Steve just wants everyone to get through this intact.
~ Highschool AUs are my secret Kryptonite - there’s just something about the emotional vulnerability of characters that age that get me sniffling. Again, no one needs to be told to read theappleppielifestyle‘s fics, but this is another one of those soft, sweet, poignant reads that deserves all of the attention in the world.
The Idiot Box by Margo_Kim:
Stephanie Rogers isn't happy to be in the 21st century, but she's even less thrilled to be on a team with Antonia Stark who seems as spoiled and self-centered as people come. She and Tony do their best to ignore each other, until their mutual insomnia causes them to bond over the new American pastime: late night television watching.
~ this author’s AU’s are just *chef’s kiss*. Featuring cis!female Steph and Tony, with some touching dynamics and laugh-out-loud moments, this is an MCU fic written pre-Avengers, which is a bit of a lovely rarity all by itself.
I’ve got you under my skin by sirona:
Five times Beijing 2008 Olympics Gold Medalist Tony Stark thinks it's going to be no more difficult a job to get ready for London 2012, than what he has just achieved. That is, of course, before Coach Fury comes to visit, and offers him a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be a part of something much bigger than himself. Swimming AU.
~ No AU reclist is complete without a Sports!AU :D The characters here read as authentic to their canon selves, even as they’re participating in competitive sports rather than beating up bad guys - Tony’s arc in particular is really heartwarming <3
Look here, look back, look ahead by marinarusalka:
September, 1941: Returning from a mission as Iron Man, Tony Stark crash-lands in the Carpathian Mountains and is rescued by Captain America. The two heroes team up to investigate Nazi activity at a mysterious castle. But Captain America is keeping secrets that could destroy their new partnership before it has a chance to begin.
~ Some lovely, lovely IM Noir canon divergence AU <3 It also comes bundled with identity porn, and Noir verse is just such a delightful verse to soak in that you all should really go read this at once.
And finally a self-rec or two-
Even Though We Know Love’s Landscape:
But at the core, he’s the same brand of poor little rich guy that dot the shadowed corners of every charity gala, every award function. Sure, maybe it comes in a ‘genius billionaire playboy philanthropist’ package… but his mettle is common iron. A drop of sea water, a dash of air, and he’d rust right through.
She, on the other hand, is made of better stuff.
In which Tony compares people to weird things, Steph recites poetry and two dorks fall in love.
~ AU with cis!female Steve, with all the team living in the Tower and a bunch of feels, fluff and poetry thrown in for good measure :D
Swing City:
“Of all the places you could go to on holiday, you had to pick the one where everything can possibly kill you.”
“I’m here on exchange, actually.” Steve returned primly. "And I’m pretty sure nothing can kill me in a gallery.”
“That’s the tragic bit. You’re in a gallery.” Sam’s tone was impressively flat, even for him. “You’re in Australia. Go hiking in the bush with the poisonous snakes. Surfing with the murderous jellyfish.”
Spoiler alert: Tony's in Australia too. And he's a swing dancer.
~ Is this a kind-of college!AU+Dancer!AU set in Australia, with Steve still as Cap? Yes, yes it is. I had a rollicking good time writing it, plus all of Steve’s Man Out of Time feels, so you’ll get no apologies from this quarter :D

10. Leave a Scar
…   Reader  …
Two days later and you’re still praying that Loki has no idea what you’ve heard even if the chances seem remote. He’s grown quiet. Brooding. Most of the time he’s off somewhere without you but when he returns he finds a secluded corner and a carafe of wine to wash down his gloominess with.
He’s plotting how to kill me. It makes sense – haven’t you done what he wanted you to? The talk about keeping you safe must have been nothing but a ruse to eventually break your spirit completely before delivering the final blow. On the other hand, it seems like an awful lot of trouble to go to if he was just going to waste the effort by being emo. Plotting to kill someone else? Now, that would make sense considering his track record.
On and on your thoughts run in circles and not even the beautiful view from the balcony can provide enough of a distraction today.
“Tell me, mortal.” His voice startles you, coming from right behind you. “What’s plaguing your mind, hmm?”
There’s nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide from those piercing, green eyes boring into the back of your skull. Pulling at the sleeves of the purple dress (kindly lend to you by the Älfir), you consider how to out-lie a liar.
“What...what is going to happen now?” you manage to ask, forcing your voice past a lump in your throat.
The sigh that fans your shoulder is chilling. “It seems I have to change my plans.”
Unsure of anything, this isn’t what you had expected. Turning towards him, the somberness clings to his face and cuts his already sharp features from ice. Only now do you realize that there had been a spring in his step and a softness to his gaze a short week ago but since then something has extinguished the light.
Your hand twitches as you restrain yourself from reaching out to stroke his cheek. “What’s happened?” Did he see that?
If he did, nothing in his demeanour divulges anything as Loki steps as close as he can without the mossy greens of his clothing brushing against purple. A thousand worlds could come and go that second and you would never have noticed because the Asgardian’s presence is all-encompassing, sucking you into his personal vortex of pride and pain, stubbornness and deference.
“Why would you care what has happened?” His words are cold like blades of ice, but this time you see through it and wait him out. He resigns. “The Älfir’s magic is not strong enough. They cannot restore Jotunheim.” Deflated.
“If they could’ve then they would’ve healed the Priestess too.” Biting your tongue off suddenly feels like a really good idea.
The silence is oppressing, drawing out the seconds as the man looks you over as if you just dropped from the moon. Like he’s seeing me for the first time. The sensation is far from comforting, something that’s enhanced as the thin lips begin to curve into a crooked smile revealing white teeth.
“You did that.” Man, you hate the way he practically purrs.
“Barely.” You step backwards, bumping into a pillar.
Even now, you can’t help but notice how smoothly he moves as he follows in your footsteps. “But you did.”
Somehow managing to sidestep the god, you make it two steps into the shade of the room before his hands have gotten hold and you’re twirled, forced against the cold wall.
“Don’t -”
“Shush.” He places a cold finger on your lips, making you comply automatically. “We all have sacrifices to make.”
A smidgen of logic in the back of your skull is screaming at you to shut up, to let him have this victory while you figure out a way to get out of the situation. Of course you don’t listen to it, deciding instead to pull yourself up to your full height (as unimpressive as it may be compared to Loki) and glare at him. There’s even a moment there where you impress yourself by how calm your voice is when you answer.
“No. I won’t be your puppet anymore.” Black eyebrows shoot upwards at your words. “And if you kill me, at least I know you’ll still be crying every night.”
That’s the instant the sense of heroic pride dies.
The emerald eyes you secretly admire change into a sea of blood while a flood of blue, broken by ridges and lines cover what skin you can see and causes you to gasp, drawing in air so cold you can feel the lungs crackle in complaint. If at least Loki would snarl or growl, then it would somehow make sense, but he just smiles, the white teeth suddenly similar to the fangs of a predator. A wolf...and I’m the lamb.
“Mortal. Pet.” A claw traces along your cheekbone before scraping down your throat. “I thought we were coming to an understanding? You would obey my every wish in return for the life of those you love?” Nodding is the only option. “Tsk tsk. Perhaps I have underestimated you, wench, thinking you had a soul, a heart. Hoping you would recognize real evil when held up against the light of truth.”
Well...I’m already doomed. “You told a story -!”
“A story?!” This time he does snarl. “I’ll show you story!”
The cold of his hands burn the skin on your forehead, wrist, and palm as he slams your hand against his brow and mirrors the movement.
...  Loki   ...
The first glimpses are simple until the events fully unfold. Falling – he will hate the sensation forever. Falling through nothingness for half an eternity until he lands more dead than alive...except this time he’s watching it from the outside. We’re watching it. Though the Jotun can’t see it, he knows that [Y/N] is there with him, a spectator without the option to look away when the actor is found and brought to the Titan.
What were months or maybe years at the mercy of Thanos and his Children flash by in a few minutes, perhaps. Torture, mind games, hatred twisted and turned until it points back to the outcast prince and penetrates his soul, leaving it to fester before he finally succumbs to the touch of a sceptre. From there the events unfold in a blur only occasionally brought into focus when a part of the fallen god tries to rebel against the shackles.
It’s only when the Loki they watch is lying at the feet of the Avengers that clarity is fully restored, though one kind of shackles is replaced by another. Then: a speck of blue grants an opportunity impossible to dismiss.
A vision. A memory. A nightmare.
Loki’s hands fall to his sides. It’s over. The wall in the Älfir temple looks less real than what [Y/N] and the Jotun have just witnessed, but the wide eyes staring up at him brings reality back like a kick in the balls. She knows. Everyone knows when they witness the recollections of someone else – no amount of so called rational thinking can convince them they have hallucinated because they feel it as if they lived it themselves.
“[Y/N]...”
Tears are welling in her eyes, lips quivering as she tries to root herself in the present. “He...y-you...” What I wouldn’t do to take away your pain. “That was -” A sniffle interrupts her.
He hates it. Hates the despair she’s drowning in at his hands. Truly, he has proven to be the monster he claimed not to be. Losing control and forcing [Y/N] through this nightmare serves no purpose at all.
“I will...I will ensure your safety and then you will never hear from me again,” he promises shamefully, “now...get some rest.”
...
Flat on his back and with the hands behind his head, Loki’s gaze is fixed on a point far beyond the ceiling above. Dawn is nearing yet sleep has evaded him, chased away by memories and guilt. It served no purpose. Priding himself of his logic, the turmoil raging inside his heart is has pushed the Jotun to act rashly and he hates it because he wishes to be more than a beast that simply lashes out when cornered. He doesn’t want to be the monster he behaved like. No, the man in him has to find a way to -
“Loki?” The whisper is hesitant, almost too quiet to hear. “Are you...are you awake?”
He sits up, bare feet on the stone floor as if to ground himself. The covers slides from his chest, revealing the pale skin in the darkness but [Y/N] probably can’t see it with her human eyes as she stands in the doorway.
Draped in the soft-flowing silk from a borrowed shift, she could almost pass for one of the ghosts from the fanciful tales children enjoy to fear. Loki can see her better than that. He can see her face straining as she tries to find him in the dark, and her arms wrapped tightly around the ribs below her bosom perhaps to find some comfort.
“Yeah...I’m awake,” the god rasps softly in return. Is that regret or relief in your sigh?
Sitting there, waiting for the unknown, a tension begins to permeate the air and send tendrils to every nerve ending of Loki’s body. A coil tightens in his chest and it becomes nearly unbearable when [Y/N] tentatively walks towards him, her feet careful as they seek out the right path. A few steps before the goal, her hands reach out to locate the Jotun and he has taken them before thinking to stop himself.
Steeling herself with a deep breath, the mortal braves the silence. “This doesn’t mean we’re okay, but...I believe you now.”
“[Y/N] -”
“Shut up.” He does. “I’m trying to say that...that I get it a-and I trust you.”
Loki has no answer. Gaping slightly at her, he tries to come to terms with the woman’s foolishness. Once or twice a sentence nearly forms in his mind only to dissolve before it can be uttered and the task increases in difficulty as she shyly shifts her weight from one leg to the other, toes intertwining as best they can while she bites her lip.
He obviously startles her as he stands. Yet you don’t run, my dear? A shiver rolls through her the moment he embraces the lithe form.
“Oh! Oh, we’re...hugging? Okay, we can hug,” she babbles, unknowingly making the god smile into her hair.
It’s impossible to say how long they stand like this or when [Y/N]’s warm fingertips start a slow dance across his naked back. Then again, time hardly matters as the Jotun pulls back enough to study her face, smelling her hectic breath that fans against his skin.
“Thank you,” he says, but means I think I love you, “you should rest.”
Her hands retreat, and right away Loki misses the scalding touch and the heat of her body as she navigates the darkness to find her own bed.

Oh nooo Loki - yeah lol as if he actually died
YO WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT END CREDITS SCENE that got me all like WTF and shit

I love them all so much oh gosh
I MADE IT THROUGH PHASE ONE WOHOOOO
***
Phase 2
Iron man 3
this movie changed me
aly can confirm - I was very much not okay after seeing this
literally had anxiety through all of it
I mean I LOVED it
but like
the ptsd :(((
although I do love that they showed that, just made me love Tony even more
just... showing the ugly parts - love that shit
but also like noooo tony bby :((((
HARLEY!!!! IS SO GREAT !!! AND ALY SAID HE COMES BACK AT ONE POINT!! YAY
just.... Tony Stark man.
great antagonist, love the whole mandarin thing
EXTREMIS? NO THANK U that honestly gives me like zombie ish vibes or smth I don’t like it

OH PEPPER JUST BECAME 10x HOTTER DAMN SHE JUST GETS MORE AND MORE ATTRACTIVE EACH MOVIE HUH
PEPPER ALMOST DYING? NOPE
THE PAIN IN TONY'S FACE? NOPE
all in all loved this so much and I am still not really okay
Thor: The Dark World
I see why people think this is the worst Thor movie.
DON’T GET ME WRONG IT WAS GREAT
but like,,, meh? the big end fight was so anti-climactic? not epic at all like what the fuck
I LOVE DARCY
but she's clearly gay so stop makin her fool around with the intern
but like Thor is such a soft boi and I love him
again, Loki's two-faced-ness – aRH
but,,,, I get the Loki hype now
I'm aboard the train
I love Loki
oh oh oh the part in his prison cell when Thor comes to talk to him and is all like "enough tricks" and then his cell is all torn up and he's all torn up and AH BABY 😭
Thor just needs cuddles
Aaaaand this is where I accidentally got the worst possible spoiler. :)))
I wanted to watch some wholesome Tony Stark content before bed and so I searched youtube for "Iron Man" and clicked on a video I thought looked nice and wholesome. I accidentally read the top comment and then proceeded to break down and freak out to Aly and Hanna on Aly’s live, and they comforted me and stuff <3
Aly then told me that “hey remember that I told you that the little boy in Iron Man 3 comes back at one point? Yeah that’s at the funeral”
STUPIDLY, I then watched the death scene on YouTube, went to bed crying, and of course, dreaming about it. I will never be okay again and I will never be ready for Endgame thank you and goodbye.
anywAY,,,,,
Captain America: Winter Soldier
*SO MUCH SCREAMING*
I thought that Bucky didn’t deserve to die - and he didn’t - but like,,, DYING WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN THIS
the ~bromance~
nat and steve I mean, so good
I AM NOT OKAY I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS MOVIE BUT IT WAS AMAZING
Natasha tho mmmmmhhf
I was rly confused while watching but like everything came together at the end and it was so nice and damn this is one of my favorites so far
Sam is great I want more of Sam
Guardians of the Galaxy
multiple people had told me that they thought I’d really like this movie
honestly? I didn’t
it was kinda meh?
like I found it very predictable and cliché and not in a delightful way
idk if it’s just that I know that Chris Pratt is a dick but I don’t like Peter
I rly like Gamora and Nebula, but like I’m a lesbian, so I don’t think anyone’s surprised that I like the traumatized warrior gals
but like in general I’m kinda disappointed
I only gasped like twice, and it was barely gasp-worthy moments
Avengers: Age of Ultron
All of them together just makes me so happy, they’re so cute with each other AH
loved Ultron as the antagonist. that was great.
but,,,, I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t really get to see any regret from Tony bc he created Ultron
THE TWINS ARE FANTASTIC
whatever’s going on with Bruce and Nat, I don’t like it
TOO MANY moments that reminded me of the spoiler that I refuse to speak. Did not enjoy
everyone just needs to be hugged why doesn’t anybody HUG THEM????
not happy about Jarvis dying :((( even tho he technically didn’t die but like HE’S NOT JARVIS ANYMORE IS HE
and then Tony just replaces him with this Friday just like that??? no i’m not okay with that
in a ranking scenario this one falls in like the top of the middle range? Like it’s not one of the favorites, but it’s still up there.
I FUCKING DID IT AGAIN ARGH
I was just reading about new MCU projects that are coming up and THERE WAS A SPOILER WARNING, but STUPID AS I AM I DISREGARDED that and kept on reading. I was just skimming through the text and I read “Loki who dies” and stopped right there, because AAHH FUCKING SHIT
I was on a call with Aly as this happened and so I told her that I had given myself a spoiler again and that it was about Loki, and she was all like I can’t remember anything that happens to Loki hmm, and so I thought YAY it’s okay, they just meant one of the times when he fake died!!! so I went on to keep reading, but before I could read anything else Aly stopped me, remembering. She told me it would be gut-wrenching and terrible and I’m just-
So disappointed in myself.
Ant-Man
it was an enjoyable movie, but like,,, a little meh?
I feel kinda the same as I did with GOTG
but I like each of them better than the other for different reasons? idk???
the plot wasn’t very thick, like I could have gone away to pee without pausing and probably not miss too much
I didn’t really get invested in the story or the characters
but it was enjoyable for sure
Sam!!! Hello!!!!
Again, like with GOTG, I found it kinda cliché, but in a more delightful way this time
WE MADE IT THROUGH PHASE 2 AND PASSED THE HALF-WAY POINT WOHOOOOO
***
Phase 3
Captain America: Civil War
I constantly needed to be hugged while watching this
in the end I was fine, like I’ve been way less okay after some of the other movies, but during? needed hugs and cuddles
I love that they were fighting each other it was just... umff you know
but also like,,, LOVE EACH OTHER
Wanda and Vision? no thanks I HATE IT
Steve and Sharon?? NO THANKS I HATE IT
literally that’s just weird on SO many levels
and that kiss was-- ugh I hated it.
SPIDER BOY !!!!! UGH I LOVE HIM ALREADY
Black Panther heLLOOO
ALL THE STUCKY THOOO
Tony and Steve fighting in the end got me :(
Doctor Strange
This one falls at the bottom of my list
It was the shortest movie but it felt SO LONG because I was so bored through all of it
it just never got me hooked, I didn’t get invested in the story at all.
there weren’t even any characters that I liked enough to want to see more
sure another infinity stone and getting to know doctor strange and shit, I get why you kinda need to watch it
but I doubt I’ll watch it again
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
just like with the first one, kinda meh
I didn’t really get into it until the last half hour or so
the music really carried this movie tho
and baby groot !!!
I love Nebula so much, such a great character
Yondu dying was really great, it did a lot for his character
I still don’t really like Peter Quill
I feel like it was barely contributing to the infinity saga, the only thing that’s somewhat connected is that Nebula wants to kill Thanos, and the only reason I know that’s connected is because of spoilers
because I’m not really supposed to know the significance of Thanos at this point
but then again, maybe I’ll feel differently when I’ve finished all the movies
Spiderman: Homecoming
SPIDEY BOY !!!!!!!!!
THIS IS A FAVORITE
I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS MOVIE
THE TONY/PETER INTERACTIONS WERE SO GREAT
PETER IS A BABY AND HE’S SO GREAT AND AAAAAHH
HE’S ON MY LIST BTW
AND LIKE,,, CAN WE TALK ABOUT HIS FIGHTING SOUNDS COMPARED TO EVERYONE ELSE’S???? Like steve and thor and shit are all like huOH heeeUH oAH ya know?? and then peter’s over here like eeh heh mmmMHF
HE’S JUST REALLY GREAT AND AAH I LOVED THIS MOVIE SO MUCH
LITERALLY SMILED THROUGH ALMOST ALL OF IT
except when things were going bad and during the fight scenes and shit and when he was in big danger and stuffs
BUT LIKE AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
SO GOOD
OH OH OH AND STEVE’S LITTLE EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS WERE SO CUTE AH
hehehheheh and the end credits tho heheheheh
ANYWAY I LOVED THIS MOVIE SO SO SO SOO MUCH
Thor: Ragnarok
ANOTHER FAVORITE AAAAH
ALL THE BROTHERLY MOMENTS THO
Kinda mad that we didn’t get a hug there in the end but oh well
Thor is so sassy and goofy in this one I love it
ugghhhhh I love Loki so much
Hela has so much Maleficent vibes
Heimdall yESSS !!!
all the Thor/Hulk interactions were so PRECIOUS AAH
this was just such a great movie with great character development for both Thor and Loki and ughhhh IT WAS SO GOOD
“get help” was fucking ICONIC
VALKYRIE THO
oof not excited for infinity war :((
Black Panther
this one falls somewhere in the middle for me
like it was good, but it’s not up there
my main issue with it is that it didn’t really feel so much like a superhero movie, it was more just like... family drama
but Shuri tho, love her
and all the awesome ladies fighting!!! yes!!!!
BUCKY!!!
Avengers: Infinity War
I am not okay
I will never be okay again
I thought Loki dying was gonna be the worst part - and honestly, knowing about it beforehand made it less painful actually
but NO NO NO
THE LAST 15 MINUTES IS JUST A CRYFEST HUH
REAL NICE THANK YOU
oh gosh I can’t even think
I told y’all I didn’t like Peter Quill and well, HE DESERVED WHAT HE GOT
oh gosh nope
I’ve been feeling guilty that all of y’all had to wait a full year for endgame but AT LEAST THEN YOU HAD TIME TO BE OKAY AGAIN BEFORE ENDGAME
fucking shit what have I gotten myself into
Ant-Man and the Wasp
I liked this one better than the first ant-man
It’s still not up there but it was good
idk it could just be bc I know the characters more this time or because I kind of had pretty low expectations but I liked this more
oh also maybe I was just happy that I didn’t have to see like all my favorite characters die like I did yesterday :(((
still not okay
anyway, ant-man and the wasp
I really liked Ava, really great character honestly
I liked Hope a whole lot more this time around
still don’t really like her and Scott together, especially after her mother like talked through him and shit. I feel like if I was Hope and my mother talked to me through my love interest, I would feel pretty weird about it all
but maybe that’s just me idk
oh but what I do like about scott and hope is all of hank’s comments about them
he’s funny hehehe
also Luis! great dude
okay but Bill FOSTER???? as in JANE FOSTER?? SEEMINGLY HAVING NO CONNECTION AT ALL???
there’s too many double names in this whole ass franchise and I’m upset
two Peters, two Eriks, two Fosters.... like I know that’s what real life is like, people have the same names, but THIS IS FICTION
YOU CAN AVOID THE CONFUSION
that wasn’t totally related to this movie specifically but this was the third strike dudes, I couldn’t just ignore it anymore.
oh oh oh and I did not appreciate the mid credits scene, I DON’T NEED REMINDERS OF THAT PAIN THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Captain Marvel
this one falls somewhere in the middle for me
like it was good, and I enjoyed it a lot, but it just wasn’t really anything that left me all like woooaaaah omg AH you know???
I really liked how it connected back to previous movies like with Ronan and the Kree people from GOTG and the tesseract and all that jazz
where can I get myself a flerken tho I want one
I appreciate that no one turned into dust, that was nice
my main problem with this movie is that HER POWERS MAKE NO SENSE
like in the beginning it was kinda okay. I didn’t understand her powers, but at least they felt reasonable
then we got to the end and all of a sudden she’s flying and glowing and strong enough to stop and redirect a fuckin missile, and then she’s FLYING INTO BOMBS AND COMING OUT THE OTHER END COMPLETELY UNSCATHED??
OH AND THEN SHE FLIES INTO FUCKIN SPACE WITHOUT A HELMET OR ANYTHING AND SHE CAN BREATHE JUST FINE???
it just makes no sense, it’s completely unreasonable and it makes her too perfect to me. Too unbeatable. I don’t like it.
but all in all a good movie, loved seeing young Fury and shit
Avengers: Endgame I WILL NEVER BE READY
As I thought, I wasn’t ready
But, I actually think that knowing about Tony beforehand made it a bit easier
I still wish I hadn’t known
and I still bawled like a baby
but like,,, I think I would have been way worse off if I hadn’t known
I’m just so sad now
I really need a hug
and even though I just cried more than I’ve done all year I need to cry some more I think
I’m glad everyone who got dusted came back, although I kinda knew they would
well, I would have been fine with Quill staying dusted tbh. I really don’t like that guy
NATASHA WAS NOT ALLOWED TO DIE, I WILL NOT BE OKAY WITH THIS :(
oh gosh yeah I know I have more thoughts about this movie that I wanna say but I need to be more okay first oh man
okay hi again, it’s the next day and I’m still sad but here are some more thoughts:
I hated the whole Bruce/Hulk think. All the good parts about each side of his character were just erased.
I don’t even see the purpose of it.
Okay I kinda knew that Steve was gonna go back to the 40s, but I WASN’T SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT SO SHH
anyway, I didn’t like Steve staying in the 40s, and here’s why:
he knew that this was the single one out of 14 million times they won against Thanos, so he knew that changing anything at all would fuck it up
but at the same time, I find it hard to believe that Steve could be aware that Tony and Nat dies and not want to do anything about it
even though he knows he can’t
so wouldn’t it have been easier to just go back to the present after he returned all the stones? So he wouldn’t have to live with that dilemma?
ALSO, I WILL NOT ACCEPT that after everything he did to get Bucky back, he just leaves him. Just like that.
Literally the only reason this makes sense is as a setup for the Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+ series.
But I still don’t like it
Spiderman: Far From Home
This was nice, I needed this.
I didn’t like it as much as homecoming, but I didn’t expect to considering how much I loved hoco
it was really nice to see some more Peter Parker bc i love him but also like,,, most of it was traumatized spidey boy :((( and that was sad :(
He’s literally just a child and he’s already so damaged and it’s big big sad
the high school vibes were immaculate
not that I’ve actually been to high school in the US but like,,, it felt like a high school movie okok
Okay but like May’s character really did a full 180? I don’t really understand where that all came from, but uhhhh okay then
Okay, Quentin Beck.
before we realized he was bad, I already didn’t like him, cuz it seemed like he was gonna start to become a new father figure for Peter and I WAS NOT COOL WITH THAT
but then I understood that that wasn’t happening so it’s all good
he’s a pretty cool antagonist. not a fave, but pretty cool.
OH OH FLASH IS SO GAY FOR SPIDERMAN THO RIGHT
he actually got some real nice character development that I had not expected, that was nice
all in all, great movie, I love my spidey boy.
pretty sad that I’m done tho... :(
but also like, I watched all of them (except incredible hulk) in 34 days. That’s kinda impressive, right?
ALSO THERE’S NO MORE SPOILER DANGER YAY !!!
and finally, here is my ranking of the movies based on how much I liked them:
0. The Incredible Hulk ( didn’t watch )
SPIDERMAN: HOMECOMING
Thor: Ragnarok
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Avengers: Age of Ultron

6. List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.
List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.
Oh boy. Just for fuckin grins I’m going to make this a really, really exhaustive list. Which means: if I’ve written more than one fic for a fandom, I’m putting it on here. (Which actually doesn’t even make it exhaustive, because there’s fandoms I’d say I’ve been loosely ‘involved in’ where I didn’t write fic, but it’s the closest I can get without this getting far too out of hand.)
Disclaimer that I am not really an OTP person, on the whole - I’m a consummate multishipper. But I’ll pick like. Up to three.
In chronological order!
Wheel of Time: Min/Rand and Mat/Tuon, though now I’ve drifted into Elan/Rand territory (or, as previously mentioned, Elan/Min/Rand).
Black Jewels Trilogy: I was mostly a boring canon shipper in this fandom (Lucivar/Marian was near and dear to my heart); shockingly I was not a Lucivar/Daemon shipper at the time though if I read it for the first time now I might be. But really I was mostly here for gen shipping the family dynamics, especially with Jaenelle and Lucivar. Soft spot for Karla/Jaenelle and Karla/Wilhelmina, though.
Caliban Leandros: Just gen shipping the central brothers (Caliban and Niko). I mean, obviously. What else would I care about.
Doctrine of Labyrinths: Felix/Mildmay, Felix and Mildmay, don’t care which, as long as they are thoroughly entangled in each other I’m happy. Also Felix/Malkar, though.
Silmarillion: Aredhel/Celegorm, very messy Tuor/Idril/Maeglin, and Curufin and Celegorm’s messy and dysfunctional relationship. Oh but also Curufin/Finrod. That’s four. So sue me.
A Song of Ice and Fire: I was a dirty Sansa/Sandor shipper. But also always the Arya and Sandor dynamic was one I loved. A real sucker for Robb/Jeyne and I still am, they were cute and I’m very sad for them.
Death Note: L/Light, and this is one where I honestly did have an OTP. Baby’s first...okay, not quite baby’s first hateship, but it was probably the first really intense one. Definitely the first hateship I wrote smut for.
Avatar: the Last Airbender: I didn’t really have strong feelings about pairings? Mostly I was just kind of “Zuko & everybody” but I think honestly Zuko and Sokka was one of the dynamics I ended up coming back to a lot. I wrote some Zuko/Mai and I did like them. If I got into this fandom now I feel like I’d be very about some Zuko/Mai/Katara. OH Azula/Ty Lee, I’m into that.
Code Geass: Lelouch/Suzaku. Is anyone surprised? I certainly hope not.
Doctor Who: Doctor/Master was really the only thing I was ever invested in as far as shipping went, though I don’t recall as I ever wrote anything explicitly shippy for them. One kind of slanting in that direction, but never went all the way. Missed opportunities, past self.
Supernatural: Sam and Dean, first and foremost; secondarily Sam/Lucifer and Sam/Castiel.
Buffy: the Vampire Slayer / Angel: Buffy/Angel, which is actually kind of surprising to me in retrospect as Buffy/Spike is on the face of it more my aesthetique? But I guess my real OTP was actually Buffy/Angel/Spike, I chased down a lot of that when I went on my Buffy reading spree after I finally watched it in high school.
White Collar: Neal/Peter/Elizabeth, and one of the only fandoms where I was blessed with a lot of content for my OT3, comparatively speaking.
MCU: Steve/Loki, Loki and Thor, and Clint/Loki, probably, though there’s a small army of ships and dynamics here that I could throw down. And I feel like I would be remiss if I did not mention Clint/Natasha as well.
Lymond Chronicles: Lymond/Gabriel is honestly my single biggest ship here, though I do love Lymond/Philippa. Also Lymond and Richard. (I mean! Are we getting the picture here about sibling relationships & me?)
The Untamed: Xue Yang/Xiao Xingchen, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian, and a tie for third probably going to Song Lan/Xue Yang/Xiao Xingchen and Lan Xichen/Jin Guangyao? But I do also love Wangxian?? god there’s too many good ones here really how am I supposed to choose.
Other fandoms where I just really didn’t have any ships: Gentleman Bastard Sequence, Dexter.

There are a lot of alien races in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but we know very little about most of them at this point. We do visit a few of their home worlds though, so I thought it would be fun to take a look at how they each treat gender and sex. Keep in mind, I will be going by movie canon, but with an eye on the comic canon if there’s anything in the movies to support it.
The Sovereign
Tumblr media
This race doesn’t exist in the comics. Adam and Ayesha were created by rogue human scientist so there’s no culture to speak of. The only thing that’s a little interesting about them with regards to gender is that Ayesha was originally a man. He broke out of his birthing pod too early and appeared as a silver man, then re-podded himself and reemerged many years later as Ayesha. That would imply that all people created this way spend a stage as silver men, then turn into golden men, and if left long enough in the pod becomes golden women.
The movie makes up a society from whole cloth. We often talk about how gender is a construct, and that seems doubly true for the Sovereign. They create all their members in birthing pods and consider sex dirty, so they have no reason to continue making men and women. They could make one perfect, sexless gender but for some reason they consider it important to keep up the appearances of gender, even though gender seem to play a very small part in most Sovereign’s lives.
Tumblr media
But there is one small thing that hints to gender inequality. They say that fighting and physical conflict is degrading and below them, so it’s interesting that all their guards are male and at the top of their community sits a woman (we know she answers to someone but not who they are). On all other levels of society men and women seem equal, even dressing largely the same, but women won’t lower themselves to the level of physical fighting, only remote controlled space battles. Again, if it’s because men are stronger they could just make stronger women, but no. That implies men are considered to be slightly lower than women.
With regards to sex, it’s implied that they want to be asexual but for some reason haven’t been able to breed out sexual desire completely, so they probably have a very shame based culture where they shame each other into staying “pristine”.
Xandarians
Tumblr media
This race is very human in both looks and culture and are what I’d call “soft fascists”. They are benevolent and love their interracial nuclear families but rule with an iron fist, politicians and soldiers wear the same outfits, and while everything appears good on the surface they also run a barbaric prison which they know is an overcrowded hellhole filled with rape and murder but continue to put people in it anyway (Btw, did anyone else notice that even though they lump men and women together in the prison, the men still direct their sexual violence at each other?). Their head of state is a woman so women can clearly make it to the top, but they are seemingly required to wear dresses and high heels, and we don’t see a single female guard, soldier or police officer.
Frost Giants and Dark Elves
Tumblr media
A quick one. I lump them together because we never see any women from either race. We know there are female Frost Giants and Dark Elves in the comics but like I said earlier, the movies have their own canon, so that could mean any number of things. Maybe they don’t have women and are created some other way. Maybe women and men look exactly alike. Maybe women have no rights and are locked up somewhere. Maybe they are like the Sovereign and women stay far away from the battles. I’m sure you can think of even more possibilities.
Kree
Tumblr media
In the comics the Kree as a race are queer. They are encouraged to explore their sexuality with as many men, women and all genders in-between as possible and doesn’t like categorising sexuality the way humans do. Interestingly, the few Kree from the comics who have decided to identify as anything all chose gay/lesbian/bisexual/pansexual and the common denominator for all of them is that they grew up with other races, outside of Kree culture.
Kree in the comics only care about biological sex in regards to breeding and it’s a crime punishable with prison to create offspring with other races. This is why pink Kree are all lower-class (they are the result of interbreeding in the distant past) with the purest blue Kree at the top of society.
They don’t often bond emotionally but when they do they bond hard, though they often continue having other sexual relationships on the side.
We see hints of this in the movies. Men and women largely dress the same, treat each other the same, flirt with each other regardless of gender, they have lots of female soldiers, and doesn’t know toxic masculinity the way we do because they don’t see women as lower. While living with them Carol was put though many things but sexism wasn’t one of them.
When it comes to emotionally bonding, the people behind the movie have said Yon-Rogg has genuent feelings for Carol which was why he just gave up instead of dying in battle against her like an honourable Kree should.
Also, this is how the two major Kree characters were introduced:
Tumblr media
Ronan strolling around butt naked with zero shame, and Yon-Rogg who couldn’t even be bothered to properly close his kimono-thing when answering the door. I think it’s safe to say that Kree are pretty laid back when it comes to nudity.
Skrull
Tumblr media
The Skrulls are a bit harder to say anything about because they’re very different from the comics and we’ve been told Talos’ people aren’t even the standard for Skrulls in the MCU. Some groups rival Ronan in brutality, others are saints compared to Talos’ men.
But from what little we’re shown we know the men aren’t afraid to take on the appearance of women, and they form close emotional and physical relationships with each other no matter gender, and “kiss” by touching foreheads. But surprisingly, despite how many Skrull soldiers we see not a single one was female.
Asgardians
Tumblr media
Gender clearly means a lot to Asgardians. Women are very revered and respected but also seen as distinctly separate from men. So much so that even though both men and women are capable warriors they are separated into different armies that have strict rules for which genders can join (Poor Thor had his childhood dream of becoming a Valkyrie destroyed). Men and women wear very different styles of clothes that put emphasis on their masculine or feminine features. The women especially like to show off their breasts.
Tumblr media
The importance of gendered clothes is so strong that Loki, who is canonically non-binary in both comics and movies, stands out because his clothes very noticeably doesn’t show any gender and could easily be worn by either men or women. Even his most masculine outfit to date from Thor: Ragnarok isn’t gendered. Where other Asgardians have lines that follow their curves and muscles, Loki just have angular lines that tell us nothing about his gender (He loves shoulder padding almost as much as a 80’s business woman though)
Tumblr media
There’s just one tiny detail that hints to Asgardian culture being patriarchal. Look at how the royal family is depicted in the first picture.
All the men look at the viewer, but Frigga is depicted as holding on to Odin with her gaze downcast, despite wearing her warrior outfit. This might suggest that young and unmarried women are free to live their lives but once they get married they should devote themselves to their husbands.
That’s all I got for now. Yeah I know the Marvel movies are just mindless entertainment and a lot of these could be answered with “Because the writers wrote it that way”, but if nerd boys can make hour long YouTube essays about the symbolism of Civil War let this nerd girl have her own fun.

ENDGAME SPOILERS!!!!!!
soo there is so much to process and these are just random thoughts
I was already crying at the initial titles. Just seeing the Marvel Studios Logo broke me. Thinking about all this journey that led to this moment, and how much it has meant for me and all the other people that were with me in that room, watching that movie with me, it killed me. The MCU means so much to me, it has been so important for me and seeing those titles really made me realise how much I’m thankful for all of this.
Tony in space. Facing his worst nightmare. So thin. So sick. So scared. So, so, so human. Which is what makes him my favourite character. Him being just human. The fact that anyone of us could be Tony Stark. Anyone of us could be Iron Man. Because he is just like us. The message to Pepper. That whole scene was heartbreaking. Seeing our favourite hero so miserable, so hopeless.
Carol rescuing Tony was veryyyy predictable but also very amazing. Her strength really amazes me every time.
Tony reunion with Pepper was everything I was waiting for. That little kiss on her cheek made my heart melt.
Tony’s reaction to Steve questions and to his plans felt so real. Tony was sick, scared and scarred and any other reaction would have been totally unrealistic. It would have felt shallow to see Steve and Tony agreeing like their conflict had never happened. And also considering that Tony was mentally, physically and emotionally devasted that was the only reaction possible.
When we saw Thanos again for the first time I immediately understood what was going to happen. So no big fight to kill Thanos. I wasn’t expecting it but it was the most obvious way in the end. Because the survivors couldn’t have fought against Thanos with his full powers again. So it was inevitable that there would have been something else. Thor saying that he went for the head was 🔝
5 years later. Natasha that manages everything at the Avengers Headquarters. Love her red hair that fade into blonde. She is so strong and so beautiful and I love her so much. And she is so human and so devastated, too. The short scene with Steve was so soft and I wish we had more.
Big no for Thor. Honestly they did him so dirty. He had been my favourite character in Infinity War and he was too humiliated in this movie. Like some things were fun. I admit it. But it was too much. We cannot watch the final epic battle with That Thor. No.
Morgan. There’s nothing more beautiful and perfect of that scene of Tony and his daughter. Him holding her in her arms. Just thinking about it makes me cry all over again. This is so important for Tony’s arch.
I totally loved the scenes when they organise the time travels. Those little domestic scenes that we have always talked about in thousand of headcanons and fanfictions. There’s one scene with Tony, Nat and Bruce laying down on a table talking about the stones that was super cute. I could totally watch a movie with only scene like that.
I loooooooooved the time travel scenes. Especially New York, Asgard and the 70s. Like how fucking epic it is to see again in the cinema the scene of the first team up from the first Avengers. Just great. Seeing it makes me feel so empowered. And I also loved all those scenes after the New York battle. Seeing the other iconic scene with all of the avengers looking at Loki but from the other side was so cool. And then them starting to talk and joke was so fun. Also loved seeing the differences between the characters then and now. Just great. The Steve/Steve fight was epic and reminds us of how unbearable was Steve in the Avengers. (Also can we talk about the fact that to distract himself Steve used Bucky? Like, he totally knows that it is his weak point.)
The 70s with Tony meeting Howard again. Closing a circle. And Steve seeing Peggy. I almost died when I saw her.
Natalie Portman. Nothing to add. I know that many hate Jane for I don’t know why but Natalie is my favourite actress so even seeing her for just a few second was so good.
I appreciated the choice of having Thor meet his mom rather than his father or Loki.
Seeing Peter Quill dancing from outside and looking like a total idiot was epic.
Clint e Natasha. Fucking finally. Honestly the Feels. We have been so blessed. It was everything I was waiting for since 2012. (I’m totally still bitter about everything that happened in age of Ultron but that’s for another time). From the beginning when she his devastated hearing about everything that he has done. When she rescues him and they hold hands. When they understand that one of them has to die. Them holding hands again. Them fighting just like in civil war. Nat dying. It was so heartbreaking. (And also I’m still waiting to know what happened in Budapest).
When they reunite all the stones on Iron Man’s gauntlet. What a fucking powerful symbol. The strength that comes from that shot. Nothing else compares. As soon as I saw it I knew Tony was going to kill Thanos and what was the consequence. (Also this is a big fuck you to everyone that hates Tony Stark and thinks that he is not the protagonist of the mcu) One word: epic.
The 3 seconds in which everything seemed resolved and birds reappear but we know that Thanos is coming and everything is going to hell.
The big 3 ready to face Thanos. Amazing. Wonderful. Epic. Perfect scene. The 3 of them combining their skills. Steve holding the hammer. Thor saying that he knew it and all of us thinking it with him. Steve left alone against Thanos and falling down once again. And once again standing up ready to say “I could do this all day”. But then we hear Sam’s voice and all the portals start to open. And the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen begins.
All the characters appearing. The Avengers Theme that resounds in our hearts. I was literally jumping on the chair. Tears and a huge smile. Seeing all of them united and knowing that for Thanos it’s over. Steve saying Avengers Assemble. And suddenly they’re all Avengers. And we are all Avengers. And you really feel the strength and power of this story.
All the reunions that happen in the middle of the fight. Peter and Tony hugging. All of them swapping the gauntlet up to Carol. And the amazing scene of all the girls united. (And I just want to say to everyone that thinks that it was just “politically correct”: Fuck you. Because yes it was but it was also fucking important. For me and for all the other girls watching those movies with the same passion and dedication of the guys, that have all the right of feeling represented. Because when I saw all of them united I also saw myself standing with them. And I’m sure that many other girls have felt the same way. So who gives a fuck if it’s “just politically correct”).
Carol was so underused but I understand it. Firstly because she is honestly too powerful compared to the others. Secondly because Endgame was the ending of the original cycle of characters and she is going to be the beginning of the next one.
Little thougths on the final scenes because I’m still shook. Tony taking the gauntlet from Thanos. Him saying that fucking annoying line and Tony answering: “I am Iron Man”. And the circle closes. And I don’t think there’s much too add. Tony is the Marvel Cinematic Universe and without him there wouldn’t be anything else. I’m sorry but no other character has the same value. He is the protagonist and no one can change my mind. And when he says “I am Iron Man” as he snaps his fingers, and we all say it with him, it’s fucking powerful.
Tony dying sorrounded by his loved ones. Pepper’s hand on the reactor. Devastating.
Tony’s message. His voiceover that reminds me of the ending of Iron Man 3. That ends with that same line. I am Iron Man. The beginning and the end. Nothing else to add.
The funeral. Morgan watching the video. Everyone being there for Tony, the kid from Iron Man 3, Nick fury, May. Happy saying to Morgan that her dad loved cheeseburgers too. Proof that Tony Stark has an heart. All of this killed me.
Valkyrie king of New Asgard and Thor with the guardians is perfect. I think that he fits in that group much more than into the new Avengers. Quill looking at a picture of Gamora with the word “searching” hinting at the plot of the next movie.
Steve leaving and saying goodbye to Bucky with the same words of The First Avenger. So beautiful. Steve coming back and passing the shield to Sam. I agree so much with this choice. The fact that the movies ends with the dance between Steve and Peggy that we had been waiting for all this time and them kissing is just perfection.
The amazing end credits. With the signatures of the original Avengers. Ending with RDJ. Because as much as Tony is the MCU, Robert Downey Jr. is. The Marvel logo at the end with the background noise of the hammer as a tribute to the scene where Tony forged the first armour, beginning this amazing journey.
In conclusion I liked this movie much more than Infinity War. Maybe because Infinity War was a transitioning movie, very fast, very dynamics for sure but also simpler. Endgame was so full of stuff. Many things and I loved them all or almost all. The perfect conclusion for the characters and this whole cycle. And for anyone complaining about the contradiction regarding time travels, honestly it’s a movie about aliens and superheroes who cares if something doesn’t add up.

The snoring woke me up, dear.
Summary: Bucky's snoring wakes Loki up in the middle of the night.(kinda possessive Barnes?)
Pairing: Bucky x Loki (Winterfrost) Fandom: MCU Genre: fluff, humor Warnings: none
[Pictures are not mine:’(]
...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the middle of the night, Loki was woken up by a loud snoring coming from beside him. He turned around to find Bucky, half naked with his chest uncovered. Only having his short  sweatpants on and the blanket that was tangled up between his legs he was laying spread out on the bed, occcupying more than just a half of the space that belonged to him.
With tired eyes Loki looked at his sleeping beauty, noticing the hair that was no longer tied together. Glancing at his wrists he couldn't see a hair tie either which meant that during the night it has probably fallen off.
Sitting up Loki pushed the strands of his black hair that were falling in his face behind his ears and rubbed his eyes. He shifted, putting the warm blanket away and slowly standing up to stretch. He looked at the clock. 3am. This was way too early.
He was letting a few minutes pass but seemed to realize that the snoring wouldn't stop soon. He went to the bed again, sat on the edge and put his hand on Bucky's chest. He leaned closer and whispered.
"James, wake up." but he didn't get a response. The snoring went on. Not giving up so easily, he moved the hand from the bare chest to the shoulder, shaking it slightly. The snoring stopped and two exhausted and unfocused eyes opened. He gave the god of mischief a questioning look before looking at the alarm as well. When he saw the time he groaned, turned on his stomach and put the pillow over his head.
"Why are you waking me up that early, Loki? Go back to sleep." came a muffled voice from underneath the pillow. Loki smiled, looking the soldier up and down.
"You were snoring again, Barnes. That's the fourth time this week. It's impossible getting a good night's rest with you snoring like that."
Bucky peaked from under the pillow at his boyfriend; after some time finally getting red of it and putting the soft fabric back to where it has been before.
"I'm not snoring." he pouted, turning on his back again and laying an arm over his eyes.
"You were. And it was quite loud, if I dare to say so." with that Loki pulled his feet on the bed again, crawling under his blanket and resting his back against the headboard. With his unoccupied hand, the one he wasn't using as an eye cover, he blindly searched for Loki's hand. When he finally found it, he tangled their fingers together and gave it a squeeze.
"I'm sorry, doll. I didn't mean to wake you up at this godforsaken hour." Bucky said as he put his arm down, rolling onto his side and looking at his boyfriend.
"Don't worry about it. It is alright as long as you are not doing it on purpose." both laughed. After some time Loki began staring into nowhere before closing his eyes, clearly enjoying the silence that has fallen between them. Bucky on the other hand still had his eyes on the demi-god, observing him.
"Why don't you lay down again and try to sleep. I swear I will try to keep my snoring under control." the soldier offered as he lifted his blanket, telling him to come closer. Bucky's legs were still tangled up in the white sheet but that didn't stop the god of mischief to get under it.
Loki threw off his blanket and snuggled to his boyfriend's chest. Bucky throwing the sheet over their waists and putting an arm around Loki's. He noticed that, compared to him, the demi-god always wore a t-shirt, a hoodie and long sweatpants. It never changed. He nuzzled into his neck and asked.
"Mh, Loki? Why are you always fully clothed when we get to bed? Aren't you getting all hot and sweaty under the blanket?" but Loki just laughed, or rather, chuckled.
"No, not a bit. My body temperature is lower than your high midgardian one. I'm from an ice realm, don't forget that."
"Yeah, sure. But are you too cold to sleep without a t-shirt? You know, just with sweats, like me." Loki couldn't get past the fact that a sleepy Bucky was the loveliest and most adorable thing he had ever seen. His way of asking questions with sleep clouding his mind was similar to a 5 year old asking questions with this innocent voice.
"Are you trying to get me to sleep naked, James?" Loki laughed and rolled onto his back so that the arm Bucky had put around his waist before was now laying on his stomach. The sudden change in position caused Bucky to support his weight on his left arm, his face now hovering inches over Loki's.
"Well maybe I am. It's a shame hiding that beautiful body." he grined. When Loki rolled his eyes at that comment, though still smiling, Bucky added, "Listen, I'm not saying you have to sleep fully naked, but just without the top maybe?"
Bucky put his head on the trickster's chest, his arm now dangling from Loki's slim form. The demi-god put his hand on the soldier's head in response, letting it run through his hair.
"It's just not you, you know? I thought that after two years we could have more skin contact than just us holding hands." he pouted, sounding like a begging child.
"I know and I'm sorry love but-" before Loki could finish the sentence Bucky finished for him.
"-your body is too cold, I know, I know."he sighted, gripping Loki's waist a little bit tighter, not because he was frustrated but because he needed the contact.
"I already told you, Loki, I don't mind. I didn't wanna be your boyfriend because of your body, it's the person within I care about. 'S stupid that your temperature has to be that low." he whispered. He could feel Loki's chest rising which slowly started to lull him back to sleep; glad that the vibration that was coming from him talking kept him awake.
"I'm terribly sorry, darling. I know you want a little bit more contact but the cold will make you ill."
"I'd risk it if it means I can hold your bare chest once." Bucky laughed.
"Not for the body but for the person withing, hm? Quite controversial, James." Loki found it rather amusing. He wasn't mad, not at all. It was enjoyable watching the soldier beg for such a simple thing.
"C'mon, you sexy demi-god, how can someone look at you and not want to touch that body?" both bursted out laughing. For someone who wanted to go to sleep almost an hour ago, they were quite chatty. In the middle their laughing, Bucky stopped and looked more serious all of a sudden. "Sure hope no one else touches you without my permission, of course."
"So I need your permission to let someone touch me?"he laughed.
"Yeah."
"What if it's a doctor?"
"'S an emergancy.  Touching allowed." he nuzzled his head further in Loki's cool chest. Loki could feel how heavy Barnes' head was getting after a while and took the silence as a sign that the soldier had finally fallen asleep again. He too closed his eyes and let the smell of Bucky's hair lull him back to sleep.
There were no further incidents.

Canary Masterlist
Fandom: Marvel / MCU
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Notes: A part of me wonders if updates started slowing because I knew this story was coming to a close. I honestly think I have this mental block to ending a story where I don’t want it to end.
Maybe I’ll go back to this one and add more and make it a more coherent story.
Then again, I have a lot of fun other ideas for the new year.

Normal, what was an interesting word.
Any life could be considered normal compared to something else. Maybe just having a power was normal. After all, you were just a girl who lived in a normal city doing normal girl things. It wasn’t like you were part of the most powerful team in the world or anything.
Or maybe being part of the avengers was just normal. Just living your life with people who were just as, if not more, powerful as you. In fact, being around those people could remind you just how normal you were. After all, it wasn’t like you had caught the attention of anyone. You were too normal for that.
Or maybe having a relationship with a god was just normal.
Ok no,
That wasn’t normal.
Not if you were just a normal girl who had lived in a normal town.
Then again, was really was normal?
----
“I could snap your little neck without even flexing.”
“What’s the hesitation?” Loki chocked out as the large warlord held him up by his neck. The large ogre’s hand around the Asgardian prince’s neck. Behind him, the beautiful mistress frowned slender arms crossed over her chest.
“Tell us where it is.”
Loki let out a hissing laugh before being cut off by the hulking man tightening his gip cutting off his airflow. Several feet away the other avengers were fighting off the Oger King’s army.
“My sweet prince.” The beautiful mistress of the stars walked toward Loki placing a pale hand on her lover’s arm singling to him to let Loki speak, “Just tell me where my necklace is.”
Loki’s eyes went from his former lover to the man who would kill him without a second thought. Treaty be damn. (Honestly, he probably welcomed a war against, Oden. They didn’t call him a warlord for no reason.) Then he heard it. That whirring sound. Like a rattlesnake, like the hiss of a mountain lion.
Warring, angry
“Oh, my beautiful one,” Loki said flashing them a wide smile. “My canary has arrived.”
“Wha…”
“Get off” it was sharp and blunt. Crashing into them and pulling them apart. Loki felt his body being thrown only to slow in the gentle arms of a whisper “got you”
She was standing there hair flaring like the wings of a falcon. Waves of sound flying around her like feathers. She was a beauty to behold, standing in front of Wanda and Vision fighting alongside her team. Steve let out a barking laugh as took another ogre’s minion in the face.
“The big guns are here”
The King let out a scream charging at her. A snap of her fingers and he was gent back. Loki stood up dusting himself before summoning a blade with his reformed magic catching his beautiful ex-lover off guard. She frowned down at the sharp steel pressed against her soft skin.
“I see you found a new plaything.”
“She is so much more than anything you could imagine.”
“You were a collector of powerful objects.”
Loki’s eyes flickered toward his Canary. No longer truly his. She was so much more than his. As he watched her charge at the Ogre king twisting his own screams and threats onto himself. With each sound he omitted it came back twice as hard crashing into his large shield the sheer force pushing him back.
Loki was an idiot to think that timid woman who seemed to slip from room too room was anything but a goddess among mortals. All that time calling her his canary.
She didn’t belong to anyone but herself.
A quick binding spell and the mistress was down her eyes shining up at him seething with pure anger. “You can’t win this,” she hissed before he knocked her out. Her body slumping down on the ground.
That was when he caught sight of them. The Oger’s guard dogs, large beasts like hyenas only feet foot massive creatures closing in on the queen of sound.
The pack leader let out a large snarl, teeth barred dripping saliva as he leaped toward Canary. She turned hands up letting her guard down for just a moment.
Yip
The monster let out a soft whine as Loki stood under him a spree going up from the large animal’s chest clean through his spine. Turning Loki’s gaze met hers.
“I am here”
“Seems to me this is your fault.”
“Isn’t it always?”
Canary turned to him studying him for a moment as if really hearing what he said. Seeing through the bitter vail and maybe reading into it more then she should.
But that was her thing, wasn’t it? To hear the sounds others tried to hide?
“Do you have my back?” she finally said, voice soft, words only he could hear. Simple and clean.
Bowing Loki couldn’t help but smile up at her before muttering a spell summoning another lance from under his cape impaling an oncoming monstrous hound. “Let’s dance.”
So they did. Locked back to back, shimmers of Loki’s magic as he duplicated himself. Canary pulling the cries of the monsters twisting themselves around the mirages  and back on the monsters.“Best dance partner I could ask for” Loki quipped but Canary just rolled your eyes sending another troll flying. Let’s not forget this man did just make her cry.
And she wasn’t someone to forget that so quickly. Even if they were fighting trolls and giant dogs back to back.
It was going to make more than those pretty green eyes and a charming smile to win her back.
But she couldn’t deny that they both worked so well together. Spinning and twirling until they came face to face with the Oger himself.
“Loki the time has come…” the King said brandishing his sword striding up toward the dark-haired god, “To show you….”
“NO!” the wave crashed into him sending him to his knees. Canary taking a step with each word. “You. Will. Stand. DOWN”
Her last word was a war cry. Pulled from her lungs piercing through his armor and knocking the King out.
“Canary” Loki stood behind her, his voice soft. It hurt to hear. Heavy on her soul.
“I didn’t come back for you,” she said not even bothering to look at him as she walked back to her team. Her family.
Loki watched her go, somehow watching her walk away this time hurt even more than laying on top of Wanda’s shattered doorframe.
Yet, he had no one to blame but himself.
-------
I’m not going to lie, I hadn’t realized how much damage I had done until I walked into the compound.
“Wanda I’m so sorry,” I whispered looking over her broken doorway
“It’s fine, if my door had to suffer so you could speak your mind it died for the greater good.” Wanda said, “Are you coming down to see them off?”
I sighed running my fingers through my hair. A headache forming as exhaustion from what had just happened finally catching up to me. Never a dull moment at the Avengers household I guess.
“I should see Thor off.”
Wanda nodded coming to my side. “He’s out in the front, or that’s where I left him and Loki. I’ll come with you.”
Thor met us with a large smile embracing us both warmly. At least someone was chipper after the battle. I honestly felt like I had been run over by a steamroller, both physically and emotionally.
It had been a day.
“I am so proud to have gone to battle with you.”
“Yeah, let’s not do that again any time soon”
“But we had such great fun” Loki’s voice slipped smoothly behind me. Thor’s bright blue eyes drifting from mine to Loki behind him. Turning I sized him up.
“Brother, where did you go off too?” Thor asked, Loki’s gaze locked on mine unwavering there was a glint of something in those eyes. Something that told me he was up to no good. A part of me was glad he was leaving. He was honestly a bit exhausting. All those hidden meanings, those secret glances. It was going to be a lot easier without him here. Especially how everything had ended.
“Thinking of making a run for it?” I snickered, for a moment Loki seemed to be lifted up at my words. A twitch of the lip with a flutter of his eyes. No, I had no forgiven him but honestly, that was for me to know. It wasn’t like he would be around much longer anyway.
“Back to Asgard then brother” Loki’s gaze finally breaking with mine to meet Thor’s. Thor nodded at his words holding out his hand for his brother to join him.
For a moment Loki glanced back at me. I waved back “enjoy the luxury and things that come with it” with that I turned and left. Not in the mood anymore. All those mind games we had played.
I just needed to rest. And to be as far away from the green-eyed snake as possible.
After all birds and reptiles have never gotten along.

Phantom Pain (12)
FANDOM - MARVEL MCU
PAIRING - Bucky X Reader
WARNINGS - Bad Habits and Rough Sex, Angsty and Dark AF.
DESCRIPTION -  Everybody in the world knew of you, but not who you really were. Some called you a vigilante, some called you a criminal and some called you a hero but all of them called you The Phantom. Only two people knew your real identity and they swore to never tell anyone but when The Avengers need to infiltrate a high-security facility, Bruce Banner deduces that you’re the only one who can pull it off. That decision puts you and Bucky Barnes on a path you can’t turn back from, even if neither of like where it’s leading.

Chapter Twelve - Mischief, Magic and Ghosts
It was really hard to concentrate on what you were saying when Bucky Barnes was sat in your armchair gazing intently at you as you told him the full story of how you had become The Phantom.
“You locked yourself in the chamber? You didn’t consider letting one of the two superhero’s handle it?” He growled.
“I asked them to come, I couldn’t get them killed for trying to help me and I couldn’t let innocent people die because of something my family built.” You said reasonably.
Bucky’s mind turned over all the facts and he realised that yet again, everything he thought he knew about you was all wrong. You weren’t a spoilt brat like he’d assumed, you weren’t a badass vigilante like he’d thought. You were a ridiculously brave person who’d sacrificed your life to save others and when you’d ended up with extraordinary abilities you hadn’t hesitated to constantly throw yourself into dangerous situations because you didn’t want to waste those gifts.
“Oh no. You’re Steve.” He groaned.
“I’m who now?” You asked, extremely offended.
“You’re all bravery and no brains.” He said, throwing his head back in frustration.
Frank used the new angle to sniff curiously at Bucky’s hair and you narrowed your eyes at the furball of deception.
“You need to tell Steve everything.” Bucky insisted, reaching up to scratch between Franks ears.
“I’m not telling Captain Asshat anything. Five of The Avengers already know I’m The Phantom, that’s more than enough.” You said.
“Five?”
“Besides you, Tony and Bruce, Natasha figured it out and I just gave up and told Clint.” You admitted.
Frank chirped happily as Bucky scratched a particularly good spot and you lost it.
“How are you doing that?” You demanded, standing up and stomping over to check Frank for telltale signs of having been replaced by a robot cat or something to explain his behaviour.
Bucky sat up and smirked at you and you realised you’d placed yourself directly between his knees.
“I’m good with cats. And you do need to tell Steve, he’s got you all wrong. We all did.”
“My being The Phantom or how I got that way changes nothing, I’m still me.” You insisted.
Bucky stood up abruptly and for a brief second you were pressed together before you took a step back quickly and he followed. He backed you up all the way over to the couch and the backs of your knees hit the sofa and you sat down, bouncing on the cushion a little.
“The fact it changes nothing in your mind is why it changes everything.” He said cryptically.
You battled with the blush trying to paint your features as he hooked a finger under your chin and tilted your head so you were looking up his perfect body to meet his intense gaze.
“I won’t tell him until you’re ready but you have to tell him sooner or later.” Bucky said and released you and took a step back.
You released a breath you hadn’t even known you were holding in as he left the room, the door closing with a depressing finality behind him. Frank yowled in displeasure and you shakily drew your legs under yourself and silently agreed with the disappointed cat.
Bucky leaned against your door for a second in the hallway to centre himself. The way you’d sat there, so plaint and soft in front of him and looked up at him with those wide eyes filled with trust was too much for him and he’d needed to escape before the last drop of blood rushed from his head. If he’d left it even a second longer you’d have definitely noticed the tightness in his jeans.

“Oooh, soup. Does that mean there’s bread?” You asked as you pottered into the kitchen.
Wanda smiled up at you warmly as you started sniffing around her where she was taking the loaf out of the oven.
“There is, Mr West taught me how to make it.” She preened.
“West makes the best bread.” You said excitedly.
“I know we have met but I don’t know if you remember, it has been an eventful few days,” She said nervously and you grinned brightly at her.
“I remember, who could forget you?” You joked and she smiled but the nervous look in her eye gave her away.
“That’s a good thing, trust me. West thinks so as well, he doesn’t give up his bread recipe for just anyone.” You assured her and the way her eyes lit up was breathtaking.
She cut into the loaf with a small, happy grin on her face.
“Will you be joining us for dinner?” She asked hopefully.
“I’m starving. Can I help with anything?” You asked.
“No!” She exclaimed in a hurry and immediately looked bashful at her outburst as she bit her lip and tried not to laugh.
“West told stories about my kitchen adventures didn’t he?” You asked and she nodded as passed you a heavily buttered slice of fresh bread.
It was still warm and the butter had melted into it, it looked and smelt heavenly and was a very effective distraction. You made obscene sounds as you bit into it and Wanda giggled at you.
“Well what have we here?” Someone said from right behind you and you turned your head and looked up. And up again.
Loki was smirking down at you with a mischievous twinkle in his eye and you gulped down your mouthful of bread and bit into the slice again shamelessly.
“You must be Miss King.” Loki purred, looking you up and down flirtatiously.
“Loki! Leave her alone.” Wanda chastised and you raised an amused brow.
When Loki had joined The Avengers it had been a global topic, some people were on his side and some weren’t. You had figured The Avengers wouldn’t have let him join if they didn’t trust him.
“I’m just introducing myself.” He defended innocently.
“Really? That’s just an introduction? What happens if you actually try to flirt, spontaneous ovary combustion?” You joked.
“Would you like to find out?” He asked.
“Kinda.” You admitted and he looked slightly taken aback at your answer before his smile widened.
“I do love a woman who is so... transparent.” He said heavily.
Six, six Avengers who knew who you were. Though you weren’t entirely shocked by this one, he had seen right through your invisibility at the warehouse.
“PRINCESS!” Tony’s outraged voice thundered through the compound.
“Uh, you haven’t seen me.” You said and disappeared.
“What’s going......... on?” Wanda asked, turning to you and frowning when you weren’t there.
Loki hadn’t taken his eyes off you and looked amused as Tony stormed into the kitchen.
“Where is she?” Tony demanded.
“Where is who?” Loki asked coolly.
“Princess. Her and Romanoff locked me in a cell and tortured me all afternoon. Being tied up by two beautiful women is supposed to be much more fun that it was.”
“I haven’t seen her, I think Natasha’s in the armoury though.”Wanda said helpfully.
“Yeah, cause I’m going to confront Nat.” Tony scoffed.
“You aren’t as afraid of Miss King as you are of Miss Romanoff?” Loki asked casually.
“One is a deadly assassin and the other is a Park Avenue Princess.” Tony pointed out.
“Are you really not afraid of me Snark?” You whispered in Tony’s ear.
He jumped so high he almost hit the ceiling.
“Tony? Are you alright?” Wand asked in concern.
“What? Fine.” He squeaked out.
“For the record, my hand is literally inside your chest right now. Shall we find out if Tony Stark has a heart after all?” You said quietly.
“I’ve got to go!” Tony exclaimed and bolted.
Loki chuckled and Wanda looked perplexed.
“What was wrong with him?” She asked.
“No idea.” You said and reappeared.
Wanda was startled by your sudden reappearance and gaped at you. You winked at her and bit into the piece of bread you’d stolen while invisible.
“Are you The Phantom?” She asked.
“Yeah, but it’s a huge secret so you can’t tell anybody.” You sniggered.
That made Seven.

When Wanda had asked if you were joining them for dinner you hadn’t realised she meant everybody. You sat back in your chair and watched in amusement as The Avengers all drifted into the room. Vision kept glancing at you and you grinned at him. And that was Eight.
“Yes, I can walk through walls as well.” You confirmed.
Wanda had already asked you if she could please tell Vision and could you explain that just because you didn’t need to use a door, it was still polite to use one.
“Fascinating. Would it be rude of me to ask you for a demonstration at some point?” He asked politely.
“Not at all, we can compare after dinner if you want?” You offered.
You were actually curious, you hadn’t met anyone who could do anything similar to you before. You wondered what would happen if you and Vision tried to phase through each other at the same time.
“I would like that.” He said, smiling happily over at Wanda who shot the two of you a thumbs up as two tall figures came into the kitchen.
“Your highness! I am Thor, King of Asgard.” The large Blonde god exclaimed, grabbing your hand with surprising gentleness and bestowing a kiss upon it.
“She’s not royalty you buffoon.” Loki said in exasperation.
“Shhhhh, yes I am.” You insisted, fluttering your eyelashes at Thor.
“Do forgive my brother, This is Loki, Prince of Asgard.” Thor said.
“Oh we’ve met.” Loki smirked.
“Yes, we have. He said hello and now I’m pregnant.” You told Thor in mock seriousness.
“Loki!” Thor looked aghast.
“She’s jesting with you brother.” Loki said, rolling his eyes at Thor and draping himself on the seat next to yours.
Thor looked between you and Loki suspiciously.
“You are friends?” He asked.
“Yeah.” You said casually.
Loki turned his head to look at you without changing his bored expression at all.
“Friends. Yes, we are. Happy now Thor?” Loki asked.
“I am!” Thor boomed.
“Ow.” You said under your breath, leaning away from the exuberant blonde giant.
“You get used to it.” Loki assured you.
“You highness, might my brother and I sit by you?” Thor asked politely.
“Yes, you may your Majesty.” you said, pushing the chair on your other side out for him.
Natasha and Clint wandered in, whispering about something to each other and from the furtive glances that Clint kept shooting at you, you guessed you were somehow involved.
Steve, Bucky and Sam walked in behind them and you gaped. Once again, Frank was perched on Bucky’s shoulder. Steve kept glancing warily at the content cat that was looking around the room with disdain.
“Frank, you lucky little bastard.” You whispered, forgetting that most of the people in the room had super hearing.
“You wanna sit on my shoulders Domniţă?” Bucky asked with an infuriating smirk as he sat down directly across from you.
Steve managed to choke on air and Sam sniggered at the three of you. Loki decided to drape his arm across the back of your chair and Bucky glared at his hand. Frank leapt off Bucky’s shoulder onto the table and sat on Steve’s empty plate. You wondered if you should high five the cat or would that be too childish.
“Miss King.” Steve said in a strained voice.
“Yes Captain?” You said sweetly.
“Could you move your cat?” He asked.
“Frank, move.” You ordered.
As you expected, nothing happened.
“Sorry, I tried.” You said, shrugging.
“He’s a menace. He’s violent and stubborn.” Steve insisted.
“He’s an independent cat who shows his love in subtle ways.” You protested.
“He’s rather cute.” Thor said, reaching over to pick Frank up by the scruff of the neck and quickly dropping him when the cat yowled loudly and swiped at Thor’s arm. The cat scampered onto your lap and glared at the God of Thunder.
“Very violent.” Thor agreed, nodding at Steve.
“Well you’d probably scratch someone if they tried to pick you up by the scruff of the neck.” You defended.
“That is true. My apologies Brother Frank, it was shameful of me to try and pick such a fierce warrior like yourself in such an undignified way.” Thor said solemnly to Frank, who was ignoring him in favour of licking his paw.
“I like him. He reminds me of someone.” Clint said, ducking unsuccessfully out of the way of Natasha’s cuff to the back of his head.
Someone kicked your foot and you glanced across the table at Bucky who was looking at you.
“What?” You mouthed silently.
He shrugged nonchalontley and kicked your foot again. You narrowed your eyes and tried to kick him back but he caught your foot between his own and smirked. You wished you could ghost individual body parts but if you tried to free yourself that way you’d end up falling through the chair. It had taken you a long time and an embarrassing number of incidents to figure out how to phase without falling through the floor.
You settled for turning to Loki and ignoring Bucky.
“Alright, the party is here. We can begin now.” Tony called loudly as he waltzed into the room, Bruce tagging along behind him.
As soon as Tony sat down at the head of the table several phone’s went off in unison and Steve, Natasha and Tony checked all their ringing phones. Steve read his message and stood up, glaring down at you.
“Whatever it was, I didn’t do it.” You instinctevally said, holding your hands up in surrender.
“Steve.” Natasha warned lowly.
“Princess, Bruce, come with me.” Tony said, getting up and dragging you away from the table urgently.
“What the hell? What’s going on?” You demanded, shrugging your arm out of Tony’s grip.
“Alexander King just escaped from government custody.” Steve snapped.
“What?” You gasped.
“It says you visited him this afternoon, hours before he escaped.” Steve said coldly.
“Cap, back down. I was with her.” Natasha said.
“Were you in the room with her the whole time?” Steve asked.
“It doesn’t matter, she didn’t do it. She wouldn’t.” Tony snapped.
“How sure are you of that really?” Steve asked him.
“As sure as you were that Barnes didn’t bomb the UN.” Tony snapped, standing in front of you protectively.
“Cap, she did not do it. Take my word for it, I trust her.” Bruce said, standing up and coming to stand beside Tony.
“She turns up out of nowhere, leads us to Hydra, helps us arrest her father and the next day visits him just before he breaks out of a secure government facility. Why am I the only one who thinks this is a little suspicious?”
You didn’t say a word to defend yourself, you couldn’t. You couldn’t even think straight. You barely even registered Bucky standing up and trying to calm Steve down.
“How has she got everyone here falling for her innocent act? She’s lying and I’m the only one who seems to be able to see it. She has to have helped King break out, it’s the only explanation.”
“He’s right.” You sighed.
“So you admit it? You helped him.” Steve confirmed.
“No. I hate him, I wouldn’t help him even if he wasn’t Hydra.” You snarled.
“He’s your father, you expect me to buy that his lack of attention is enough for you to turn on him?”
“No he...”
“He what? What possible excuse can you come up with that would make me believe for a second that you are on our side?” Steve asked.
“Just let me...”
“Let you lie more? There’s something going on with you and there has been since you walked in here and I want to know what it is.”
“Oh for fuck sake.” You snapped and walked through Tony and Bruce, as in right through them.
“I’m The Phantom and I hate my father because he killed me. He built a bomb that blew me up and turned me into a ghost and I’ve been trying to bring him down for all the things he’s done. I knew he was corrupt but I didn’t know he was Hydra. And I’m not a computer hacker. Well done, you caught me out.” You yelled.
“You’re The Phantom of New York City?” Steve breathed out in shock.
“Yes!” Bruce, Tony, Natasha, Clint, Wanda, Vision Loki and Bucky all said in unison.
“Oh. I’m a huge fan of your work.” Steve said.
“Huh?”

Avengers: Endgame spoilers under the cut.
I’ll start this by saying that the movie is about a 8.5 or 9 out of 10 for me, personally, and only one thing really hit it down from being a 10/10. I got in to Marvel about nine or ten years ago, and the first Avengers movie really lured me in for life. I’ve met so many friends through these characters. These characters all mean so much to me because the early parts of this decade were probably my hardest (I hope) in dealing with depression and anxiety, and watching and reading and writing through these various characters’ struggles and victories made my own struggles more bearable. And while I know Marvel movies aren’t ending, for the majority of the characters I’ve come to know and love, their stories on film have come to an end. It’s difficult to not be emotional over it or feel passionate one way or another in how their stories have come to a close. Mostly, I’m just really grateful that someone convinced me to watch Iron Man all those years ago, because I think my life and the people I know and care about would all be very, very different.
With all that being said, here are my not-very-sorted thoughts after two viewings of the film.
What I liked:
That cold open. Man. Chilling.
Nebula and Tony playing that little game in the ship. It showcased really well Tony’s parental aspects and also something Nebula desperately needed (no manipulations, no tricks, just bonding time). I wish we got to see more of those two.
Movie luring you into a false sense of security with Tony and Steve seemingly making amends right after his rescue but then Tony has that mental breakdown and lashes out at Steve. That was raw and painful and so, so good. A quality scene tbh.
Steve leading a survivor’s therapy group. Really trying to live on in Sam’s spirit, I feel.
Steve offering to cook for Natasha.
Scott Lang arriving at the New Avengers compound.
The small, human interactions with Natasha. The scene where she, Tony, and Bruce are lounging around brainstorming and she's like, "if we pick the right time, there's three stones on Earth" and the two smartest Avengers are like :0 whoa she’s right.
On that note, we get to see a vulnerability to Natasha that hasn’t been explored too much. She cries. We learn something about her on Vormir ("Natasha, daughter of Ivan", and then going on to reveal that she never knew her father). We haven't gotten this much personal exploration of her character since Winter Soldier and it was great.
Hulk offering one of his tacos to Scott after he lost his. It was just a small sweet moment.
Testing out time travel. Steve’s deadpan “that’s a baby” really got me.
TIME TRAVEL! When it jumps to that huge ass 2012 text logo my heart of soaring.
Was not expecting that Rumlow and Pierce cameo! That was wild to witness especially because Avengers and Winter Soldier are two very tonally different movies. We get to see the aftermath of Avengers in small, cool ways and it really serves to fill in the gaps. Bonus points for Tony tug-of-warring over the Tesseract with Pierce that was hilarious and reminded me a lot of his demeanor during Iron Man 2 during his hearing with Senator Stern (“You want my property? You can’t have it.”)
Loki mocking Steve and prompting Thor to put the muzzle on him was A+
The nod to the elevator scene (the elevator noise is the exact same as the elevator noise in Winter Soldier; I know this bc I’ve seen the movie 15 times and I’m basically Pavlov’s Dog for CA:TWS). The “hail hydra” moment was awesome, and Steve leaving the elevator with that smirk was so satisfying, but I have questions about that timeline*.
Cap v. Cap. “I can do this all day.”  “--I know!”
“America’s ass”. The Avengers just all 100% being on board to Hit That is the team solidarity we need in these dark times.
The sense of utter dread I felt when past!Thanos caught on to their plan. I’ve never felt dread that way before in a movie, maybe not even with Infinity War.
I really wasn’t expecting Natasha’s death. I love/hate how you know from the moment that Natasha and Clint are going to retrieve the soul stone that one of them isn’t making it back. It’s a weird feeling; I’ve felt the feeling of the audience knowing something the characters don’t before, but never quite like this. Clint and Natasha’s struggle over who was to be sacrificed was painful and emotional. It’s also a really good contrast to the scene with Thanos and Gamora in Infinity War. Clint and Natasha’s struggle was truly born out of love (and how cool is it that we got to see the power of the love of friendship so blatantly and barbarically put on show?; “I owe him a debt.”). I really thought Clint was going to die, but was surprised when it was Natasha. Her death is really painful for me and I wish there was a way she didn’t have to die, but she laid down her life for everyone else’s; it’s an honorable death.**
The brief moment post-Hulk!snap. The birds singing. Clint’s wife calling him. It brought a tear to my eye.
Thor, Steve, and Tony all standing together again after four years of being apart or, in some cases, resenting one another. I felt whole again. All of them being in agreement that as long as Thanos is alone, they’re all down to kill him. Thor’s eyes lighting up. The three of them walking towards Thanos. They mean business. What a great moment.
Every time Steve’s shield broke apart piece by piece my anxiety increased by 100%. War flashbacks to Tony’s vision from Age of Ultron; the shield was literally broken apart the exact same way.
That shot of Steve being the last man standing against Thanos and his army was beautiful. I want that as a poster.
I’ve never cried tears of relief the way I did than in the moment I heard Sam’s voice and the portals started opening up. I was 100% sure Steve was going to die just before that and I WAS SPARED. The hope/relief I felt in that moment made me cry so much, and I don’t think that’s something I’ve ever experienced before in any form of media, so that’s a unique experience that’s pretty awesome.
THAT. BATTLE.
"Avengers... assemble." Steve Rogers marry me.
STEVE WIELDING THE HAMMER. Thor: I knew it! Me: bitch me too!
Seeing all those badass Marvel women fall in formation with Carol was awesome, though it hurt a lot to not see Natasha among them. She was the first of all of them (the first we were introduced to, at least).
Valkyrie’s Pegasus!
WANDA! “I don’t even know who you are.”  “You will.”  And then Thanos telling his army to rain fire because he literally can’t fend off Wanda. Amazing.
Nebula’s story arc was really well done.
“I am inevitable.” [empty metal snap] "And I...am...Iron Man."
I sincerely was not expecting to be as affected by Tony’s death as I was. I still very much so like Tony, but everyone and their mom knows that I reside very happily in Cap’s camp. But holy shit. I was not expecting for Tony to wield the gauntlet, but that’s an amazing moment from the comic books brought to film and I’m so glad they did. The aftermath was horrifically sad, watching Rhodey, Peter, and Pepper gather round him, plus the other Avengers-- Pepper telling him he can rest now and the camera just lingers on his face. I was trying not to hyperventilate cry in the theater the first time, and still cried like a baby the second time. Iron Man was the first Marvel movie I ever saw and the first Avenger I was really a diehard fan of. Tony Stark wielded the infinity gauntlet and saved everyone. From Infinity War; “I hope they remember you.” They will.
Watching Thanos get dusted was so satisfying.
Everyone gathered at Tony’s funeral.
Sam!Cap
The cast roll with the signatures of the main cast touched me quite a bit. Also it’s kind of a nice send off because it literally feels like they’re signing off on their ending contracts.
Literally so much else, but these are what stood out the most to me.
What I didn’t like:
They didn't have to do that to Thor. Does it make sense that Thor would spiral into an alcoholic depression? Yes, absolutely. Did he have to be the butt of every joke because of it? No, not at all. At times he felt like he was plucked out of an SNL skit. I just wished they would have handled that better instead of having him serve as a comic relief device so that the first hour of the film isn't too depressing. Like, how do you go from Thor’s entrance into Wakanda in Infinity War to...Endgame!Thor? It was easier to watch the second time around, but regardless, I wish there were just less jokes about him.
What was the point of Ronin? We got five minutes of seeing him in the Ronin suit and doing Ronin things for what purpose? I get that he’s suffering with the loss of his family and it’s meant to illustrate how much he’s been damaged by it, but it kind of seemed pointless overall. Otherwise no complaints about Clint.***
Rhodey taking care of Morgan Stark at the end of Tony’s funeral instead of Happy would have been a nice touch. I’m not very bothered by this one tbh, I’m cool with it, but that’s his best friend.
Steve going back in time to be with Peggy. I really don’t like it. It felt like such obvious fanservice to Steve/Peggy fans and it’s just like...let Peggy go. On second viewing it does seem like Bucky knows from the very start what Steve might do, or that they even discussed it beforehand, but I also feel like Bucky would have told him to not be a damn idiot and come back to them. He also literally bounces right after his friend’s funeral, after a conversation about how Hulk really misses Natasha/how he tried to bring her back with the snap, to which Steve says “I do too/I know”...then....peaces out. Also, I’m not going to sit here and say that Age of Ultron did too much for Steve’s character, but we danced this dance before and learned that it’s the Avengers that are Steve’s family and future. And it’s not just in Age of Ultron that this is hammered home; the conflict in Civil War works because the Avengers are his family. Saving Bucky at the expense of losing his found family wouldn’t matter if this wasn’t the case. It feels regressive to attempt to say otherwise in this movie, especially one where some of Steve’s best development was done by the same directors.
Asterisks/Questions Unanswered/Misc.:
* So in this timeline, Steve fought himself. He told his 2012 self that Bucky was still alive, he made himself seem affiliated with Hydra during the elevator scene in order to get the Tesseract. This isn’t the timeline in which the team gets their hands on the Tesseract, so...this universe still exists because they botched it. When Steve goes back in time to return the stones to their proper timelines, it’s returned to the 1970s, not 2012. So what happens to this universe as a result of that fumble? This would be cool to explore.
** When Steve has to return all the infinity stones to their proper places in time, what happens when you seek to return the soul stone instead of take it? Could Natasha have been brought back this way? I have so many questions. Also, I’d be curious to see Steve’s reaction to seeing the Red Skull as the gatekeeper of the soul stone.
On that note, why was there such an emphasis placed on the soul stone in Infinity War? Saying there’s a certain wisdom to it compared to the other infinity stones. What was that weird soft red void Thanos was in with younger Gamora right after the snap? Why wasn’t any of this followed up on in Endgame?
*** What was the point of the Ronin situation if not to incriminate him enough that it would have been right to allow Clint to sacrifice himself on Vormir?
Can you imagine that your significant other got snapped and 5 years go by and you’ve moved on and perhaps fallen in love with someone else...and then your dead wife/husband returns? Awkward. There has to be some sort of reality TV show in the MCU universe that deals with that. I’d watch that.
The Fornite scene with Thor & co. truly establishes a depressing future where all the game developers got snapped and now all we have is Fornite.

Rating: General
Warnings: None
Summery: You go to a bar, you hear a story from Bucky, you have a good night with Steve.
Tumblr media
Somehow after your latest mission, you let Bucky convince you that it’d be cool to go out as a group for drinks at a real bar. Tony wasn’t pleased by the choice of words but he agreed to go out. When you and Bucky met, you clicked. It was great because you got to hear amazing stories from before your time. Some didn’t include Steve, but most did. They would make him flustered, but you thought it was the cutest thing ever.
‘Hey Y/N, did I ever tell you about the time I thought I was becoming invisible like this guy here?’ Bucky asked you nudging his best friend.
‘No, you haven’t.’ You said smiling as Steve took a sip of his drink.
‘Now this, this is a good story.’ Steve said smiling.
‘Okay so, you would’ve heard of Peggy Carter right?’ You nodded in response. You knew everything to do with Peggy. After Steve came out off the ice, you were there for him, so he would tell you everything about her. ‘Okay well, Steve had just become the talk of the town right? Everyone knew who he was. I always got the girls compared to Steve prior to that, but apparently while I was gone for a little while, things changed. Him and Peggy Carter grew closer. So one night, we were at this bar and she walked in. Apparently these two had something in common because she wanted to dance but not with me. Said she was waiting for the right partner while looking Stevie right in the eyes. It was in that moment I realised that little Stevie had grown up and I became the invisible friend.’ You laughed as Bucky pretended to pout.
‘She has phenomenal taste then.’ You said smirking.
‘Excuse me?’ He clutched his chest, pretending to be hurt by your words. ‘Nah, you’re very right. Any girl that didn’t love him before he became…this,’ he gestured to Steve, ‘didn’t deserve him after.’ You smiled at how protective Bucky was over Steve. You openly flirted with each other, and everyone knew that you two liked each other, but Steve said it’d be unprofessional for you two to date.
‘I never did get that dance.’ Steve muttered before throwing back a hard whiskey. The night passed with many laughs, and you did enjoy it. Everyone started to leave one by one and before you knew it, it was just you and Steve left.
‘Let’s play a drinking game.’ You suggested. Steve raised an eyebrow so you continued. ‘Never have I ever. If you’ve done it, you drink if you haven’t, you don’t.’
‘Alright. Never have I ever, gotten help with mathematical equations from a kid in high school.’ You glared at him.
‘No fair! Plus, it was for Tony.’ You took a sip of your drink before thinking of your own. ‘Okay, since you don’t play fair, I won’t either. Never have I ever lived through the 40’s.’ Steve tossed down his drink.
‘You’re forgetting, I can’t get drunk on weak alcohol.’ You rolled your eyes. Time passed and from it being a competitive game it started to become a slight flirting game. You didn’t care if you were drinking for your own have never’s, you were relating to Steve.
‘Ooo, I have another one!’ You said excitedly.
‘Shoot.’
‘Never have I ever…slept with someone.’ You downed the rest of your drink and looked at Steve. He had ordered another drink and downed that as soon as he got it. ‘No way!! Way to go Rogers! Does Bucky know? I’m so gonna tell him if he doesn’t! How is this the first time I’m hearing of this!?’ You went on a slight rant, you didn’t notice Steve watching you with a smirk.
‘Bucky doesn’t know.’ He interrupted.
‘No way! Steven Grant Rogers! I feel as though I don’t know who you are anymore!’ He laughed and you joined in. ‘Seriously though, I wouldn’t have guessed.’
‘I know.’ He replied. The bar started to play a soft slow song. You were about to get up and go before a guy approached you.
‘Hi. I couldn’t help but notice you. Would you like to dance with me?’ You smiled but looked behind the man in front of you.
‘I’m sorry. I’d love to, but I’m just waiting for the right partner.’ Steve looked at you with the softest eyes ever. The man who you shot down left with an embarrassed look.
‘Right partner huh?’ You nodded in answer to Steve’s question. ‘Would you care to dance Y/N?’ You smiled and took hold of his hand.
‘I’d love to.’
