Y/N: 4 years old ——————————————————
NO ONE'S POV "Please, auntie Wanda, I want to see mommy" Y/N begs, hugging Wanda's legs tightly and looking up at her with the best puppy eyes she can do.
Y/N's been begging every single Avenger, one by one, to take her see her mommy. Natasha's last mission didn't go as planned and she got badly hurt. She even was in coma for the entire 3 weeks, but thankfully she's much better now.
Though there is one problem… Unfortunately, Natasha doesn't remember the last years of her life… more specifically, the last memory she has is from more than ten years ago when she escaped the Red room.
Y/N's been begging and crying everyday, wanting to see her mommy. She knows Natasha's here on the compound as she saw how Steve carried her mama to Bruce after the mission.
"Y/N/N" Wanda sighs, lifting Y/N up and sitting her on her hip. "Honey, I know you do, but your mommy needs to rest" She kisses the little girl's head, receiving a whine as Y/N buries her head into Wanda's neck.
"I want mommy" Y/N cries out into Wanda's neck, making Wanda sigh once again.
"I know, bubs, I know"
———
It took a few hours of begging, but Bruce and Doctor Cho agreed that they can't go on like this for much longer. Because the only one Natasha briefly remembers is Clint, he agreed that he'd be the one who tells the redhead about Y/N.
"How are you feeling?" Clint smiles at his best friend, sitting down on the bed.
"I'm fine, I don't know why I still have to be here" Natasha sighs, crossing her arms over chest. "Why are you here?"
"Can't I just come to see how's my friend doing?" Cling teases on which Natasha raises an eyebrow. "But yeah, I'm here to tell you something" He looks at the redhead, preparing himself to tell her about Y/N.
"Why are you looking at me like that? What is it? I feel like nothing can be worse than that I forgot the past 14 years of my life" Natasha sighs, waiting for Clint to speak.
"… We haven't really told you everything, Nat. There's something we left out, but we can't keep that from you anymore" Clint starts. "… You saved a little girl on a mission 3 years ago… She's spent here for about… 2 months and you decided to adopt her. She's 4 now and she's been begging us to take her to you. I know it's-"
"Wait. Wait. I adopted a child? Me?" Natasha asks shocked, not believing anything from what Clint has just said.
"Yeah, I-"
"Mama! Mama!" Y/N bursts into the room, Wanda running after her.
"I'm sorry, I turned around for 2 seconds and she was gone" Wanda explains with a sigh.
"Mama, I missed you!" The tiny girl says, attempting to climb the bed. "Mama" A whine escapes Y/N's lips after another failed attempt of climbing the bed as it's too high for her, holding her arms up for Natasha who's just staring at her shocked.
Wanda's quick to lift Y/N up, sitting her on her hip and holding her tightly as Y/N's trying to wiggle out of her arms and reaching her tiny arms for Natasha.
"N-no, no, I can't" Natasha panics, shaking her head.
"Calm down, Nat" Clint moves closer, trying to comfort his best friend. "Take her out, Wanda" He orders, Wanda nodding immediately.
"Want mommy! Mama!" Y/N cries loudly, kicking her legs and trying to wiggle out of Wanda's arms while the witch is carrying her out of the room again.
———
A few days have passed since Natasha found out about Y/N and she still doesn't know how to feel about that. And now when she's finally allowed to leave the bed and get back to normal life, it seems even scarier.
Y/N, on the other hand, has been crying nonstop through the days. She just wants her mommy and everyone's been keeping her away again.
"Mama!" Y/N grins once she sees Natasha step into the kitchen, immediately jumping off of the chair and running to the redhead, crashing her little body into Natasha's legs.
"Oh, hi" Natasha says akwardly, carefully peeling the little girl off of herself.
It's not like she wouldn't want a child, but she just doesn't know how to take care of one. After all, she's never taken care of a child before… well, she doesn't remember it… so it's understandable that she's scared of it.
"Mama, I drew you lots of pictures. I'm gonna show you" Y/N informs, already running away for her drawings which makes Natasha let out a sigh of relief and she quickly makes herself something for breakfast.
"Hey, hm. You're Wanda, right?" Natasha asks, sitting down opposite the brunette who smiles and nods in response, so Natasha takes a deep breath before speaking again. "Clint told me you were the one who mostly took care of Y/N. I just… I just wanted to ask you if you could maybe take care of her for a bit more? At least a few more days please?" She asks, hoping to get a yes from the witch.
"Oh, of course. Y/N's such a sweetheart. If you need any help with her, I'll be happy to help you" Wanda smiles warmly on which Natasha lets out a sigh of relief, though the tiny footsteps that are approaching stress her out immediately.
"Look, mama! I have so many pictures for you!" Y/N informs, crawling on Natasha's lap which only makes Natasha panic. She has no idea how to hold the little girl, scared that if she wrapped her arms around her, her hold could be too strong and she'd hurt her. "This is you and me playing soccer, mama!" Y/N grins, pointing at the two figures on her picture before looking up at Natasha who only hums in response and gives the tiny girl an akward smile. "And this is us building a snowman!"
Of course Wanda senses Natasha's discomfort and calls her little niece to come sit back to her and to finish her breakfast which she's been eating before Natasha came in. Natasha mouths a 'thank you', shooting Wanda a smile before quickly finishing her own breakfast, disappearing into the gym without Y/N noticing.
"Where did mommy go, auntie Wanda?" Y/N asks after a while, looking around to find her mother.
"She needs to rest a lot, honey. We should leave her alone for a little bit" Wanda says with a sigh, already knowing this won't satisfy the tiny one.
Y/N pouts, jumping off of her chair, taking her drawings and running away, ignoring Wanda who's calling after her. She hasn't seen her mommy for weeks, she just wants to be with her. Why nobody understands?
The little girl enters Natasha's bedroom only to find it empty. There are ony two more places on the compound Natasha could be, so Y/N decides to check.
After not finding her mother in her office, Y/N ends up in the gym, smiling when she sees Natasha there.
"Mommy, you forgot the pictures!" Y/N informs, running to Natasha with her arms up. "Up! Mama! Up! Please!" The tiny girl pleads, jumping up and down in front of the redhead.
"Y/N, I… just put those drawings on the bench over there. I'll take them later, yeah?" Natasha says, trying her best to not hurt the little one's feelings.
Y/N nods, running away to put her drawings on the bench like Natasha wanted and then running back to her mama.
"Mommy, up please" Y/N requests, pulling out her best puppy eyes in hope to get some cuddles from the redhead.
"I'm sorry, Y/N. I can't" Natasha nearly whispers, hoping the little girl would just go away.
"But mama please. I want some cuddles" Y/N repeats again, tears filling her little eyes.
"Y/N, I said no. Please go away" Natasha sighs, slowly losing her patience as the little child is still standing in front of her with her arms up.
"Mama, please" Y/N pleads.
"What is so hard to understand? I said no. Go away" Natasha orders sternly, her voice raised a little bit which makes Y/N run away and cry loudly.
Natasha lets out a sigh after Y/N's cries die down, squeezing her eyes shut. She didn't want to make Y/N cry.
About an hour later Natasha leaves the gym, picking up the drawings from Y/N on the way. She throws them on her bed as soon as she enters her room, deciding to look at them after a shower. She really feels bad for making the tiny one cry.
Fresh out of the shower Natasha sits on her bed, taking all of the papers Y/N gave her and looking at all of them. She can't help the smile that forms on her face while looking at those drawings.
She spots a few more pictures hanging her closet, so she stands up and goes to look. She hasn't noticed them before as Clint only showed her where her room is this morning.
Now feeling even worse Natasha walks around the compound with hope to find the little girl somewhere. And after what feels like stepping into 100 different rooms Natasha finally finds the tiny girl in what seems to be her bedroom, laying on her bed and cuddling to her teddy bear while sobbing.
"Hi there" Natasha says quietly, sitting down on the bed on which Y/N just turns around and buries her head into her pillow. "Can we talk?" "Hm-hm" Y/N shakes her head.
"… Are you mad at me?" Natasha asks, gently placing her hand on Y/N's back and giving it a rub.
"Yes, because you're being mean and don't want to give me cuddles" Y/N mumbles out with a pout, finally looking at her mother with her puffy eyes.
"Y/N, I… I'm sorry, okay? I didn't want to be mean to you, but I just don't remember you" Natasha sighs, tears forming in Y/N's eyes again at the not very nice tone Natasha used. "No, please don't cry. I'm sorry"
"But I want you to give me lots of cuddles and be nice to me, because you're my mama" Y/N cries out, burying her head into her pillow again which makes Natasha think about whether should she leave or not. She's never been in a situation like this. What should she do?
"I'm sorry, please just stop crying" Deciding to stay, Natasha desperately tries to calm down the little girl somehow, but rubbing her back just doesn't seem to be enough.
Though Y/N's tears don't stop. She just wants more comfort from her mommy, so she crawls over to Natasha, sitting on her lap, wrapping her tiny arms around her and burying her face into her mother's chest.
"I… okay" Natasha carefully wraps her arms around the tiny girl which finally makes Y/N calm down and the redhead smile as Y/N's hug brings her this really nice feeling she doesn't remember feeling before.
"Mama?" Y/N questions, lifting her head to look at Natasha who hums in response, smiling a little bit. "Did you look at my pictures?" She continues, finally being in her mommy's arms making her forget everything that happened just a few minutes ago on which Natasha lets out a chuckle.
"I did, they're very pretty, sweetheart" Natasha tells the tiny one, receiving a huge smile from the little girl before she cuddles up to her, making Natasha smile.
It will surely take a while until Natasha learns how to take care of Y/N and it will surely be hard, but now the redhead knows she wants to try and be a mother to the tiny girl. And there was only one thing that made her realize… a hug from her little girl.

Roronoa Zoro x Reader, Hawkeye's Daughter?!
Master List
A/N so I got another one and it isn't Doffy thus time, unbelievable! 😂 Anyways hope you enjoy this has a (technically) part one but it's not well written I just thought I'd post this one, once I'm done with it I'll post it
Tumblr media
As Zoro and Y/N stepped onto the deck of the Thousand Sunny, hand in hand, the Straw Hat crew’s reactions ranged from excitement to utter shock. Wide eyes and dropped jaws greeted the unexpected revelation — Zoro not only had a girlfriend but she was the daughter of the formidable Mihawk.
Cheers erupted from the crew as they gathered around, eager to meet the woman who had captured Zoro’s heart. Nami and Robin exchanged knowing glances, while Chopper couldn’t contain his excitement. Usopp was already envisioning epic lies/stories to tell. Luffy laughed stretching his arms to catapult himself in front of her, grabbing her by the arms “this is interesting, welcome to the crew Y/N” she smiled at him “thank you Captain it’s an honor” “Luffy is fine” “got it Luffy”.
However, Sanji, always ready to express his emotions, couldn’t hide the jealousy that loomed over him. “Marimo, you’ve been holding out on us!” he exclaimed, his tone a mix of disbelief and frustration.
“How are you dating?! And you’re dating Mihawk’s daughter?!” Sanji’s voice escalated with each word, a blend of shock and irritation.
Zoro, seemingly unfazed, smirked. “Didn’t realise I had to report to you Ero-Cook.”
Sanji’s eyes darted between Zoro and Y/N, a tumult of emotions crossing his face. “Is this some kind of joke? Are you playing around, Marimo?” he demanded.
Before Zoro could respond, Sanji turned to Y/N with a skeptical look. “Are you sure you want to be with this idiot? I mean, seriously?”
Y/N, maintaining her composure, met Sanji’s gaze and replied calmly, “I’m absolutely sure. I love him.”
Sanji’s world seemed to crumble as he grumbled in frustration. “How does the moss head get a hot, strong girlfriend before me?” he muttered, visibly pained by the unexpected turn of events.
Brook approached her laughing “that’s great Yohohoho, can I see your panties?” he asked her and she just looked at him and blinked “ that’s not possible, cause I’m not wearing any” she said nonchalantly making Brook crumble to the ground. Franky who had over heard fell to the floor “suuppperrr” and Sanji had another nosebleed crisis.
The crew, ignoring Brook and Sanji’s turmoil, and what Y/N just said, continued to welcome Y/N with open arms, excitedly discussing her skills with swords and her connection to Mihawk. Amidst the chaos, Zoro stood watching the events unfold, he was glad it all went well, he joined the group wrapping an arm around Y/N’s shoulders, causing Sanji to have a worse crisis as she leaned into him.
A/N I have no idea what I'm doing send help please

Tumblr media
The mood of everyone since the morning started had been off, and no one was addressing it. Everyone went on with their days, doing their jobs, meetings, training, planning for future missions, but there was a tension in the air, and Tony was a lot quiter than usual. More passive, off in a daydream, but no one asked if he was alright. They didn’t have to.
They knew he wasn’t alright. Why would he be? It was the third anniversary of the death of you, his daughter. It wasn’t a natural death- something anyone saw coming and could prepare for. It was sudden, coming out of nowhere, surprising everyone. And the worst part? It wasn’t even an accident.
No one knew the exact details about what happened that day. You were acting strange- but that was just you everyday, being secretive, getting into trouble that Tony didn’t know the full extent of until days or weeks or months after it was all over, usually you putting yourself in insane amounts of danger to solve a criminal case, each time never failing to driving your poor father insane with worry. But in hindsight, the team couldn’t deny you were being even more secretive, more paranoid, more shut off then usual. The last time any of them saw you asleep in the tower before your death was 3 days prior, and none had seen you ate for at least a day before, being consumed in your work and thoughts, but they never got the chance to ask what was happening to offer help because you left the tower the night prior to your death, and the last time anyone heard from you, was when you called your dad to tell him you were sorry, and goodbye.
Tony had spent the last 3 years trying to figure out what the case you were working on was. There was no doubt that your death was linked to it in some way. However, you hadn’t told him much, and no matter how many times he flipped your old room upside down or had FRIDAY scan your electronics for anything, or keep track of every single contact in your phone and friend on social media for any suspicious behaviour, there wasn’t many leads,  and those leads dried up in a year. You told no one what you were investigating, you covered your tracks thoroughly, and if you had taken any notes about your findings, you hid them so well not even a genius, and more importantly your father, could find out where you had put them. No traces. No leads. No idea on what led you to the decision to die that day, and so seemingly out of nowhere. The end result was nothing but questions, and your dad who was trying to act like nothing happened- somewhere between you’re still alive and just somewhere living such a normal quiet life- totally not your style- to the point where he had nothing to tell the others about and so didn’t speak about you, and acting like you never existed in the first place, but spending every night looking for anything to give him answers.
Despite the clear discomfort and tension amongst everyone in the room, everyone tried to act like it was a normal day. Everyone consciously tried to not look at Tony more often than they usually would, stayed on track with their conversations, and Tony kept his head down and was quieter than he usually was as Maria was briefing the group about some leads they got from their last mission. However, after Maria paused to switch slides, the quiet but identifiable buzzing of a vibrating phone was heard, and everyone stopped and looked amongst each other before Tony felt his pocket, and eyes went to him. “Sorry.” He apologised with a fake smile as he dug into his pocket, retrieving the phone and looked at who he was, then froze, the smile fading immediately. Everyone tensed as Tony stared at the screen of his phone. Bruce, who was sat closest to Tony, peaked over his shoulder, before his eyes widened and he looked at everyone in a panicked rush before turning back to Tony.
“T-Tony-” Was all he was able to get out before Tony stood abruptly, leaving the room, and putting the phone to his ear. Everyone looked at Bruce in stunned silence, knowing he was was the only one in the room to give answers to what just happened. Bruce gulped, before he opened his mouth again. “It was Y/N. Y/N was calling him.”
“Who the hell is this and how did you get my daughter’s phone?” Tony stopped in the empty hallway, but his voice, while a growl, was still a whisper. He could feel his hands shaking, pumping with adrenaline. Despite the fact that you were long gone, Tony kept your phone. He paid the bill for it to remain active, kept it tucked in a drawer in your room between clothes where he couldn’t hear the vibration so he could call your number and hear your voicemail and for a moment believe you’d pick up, and just to hear your voice so he couldn’t forget. He couldn’t forget. At this point the words ‘Hi this is Y/N, if you’re hearing this, I’m busy. Don’t call again, I’ll call you maybe’ were the crispest words he could recall in your voice. He only got the phone out once a week to charge it back up.
“Dad, it’s me. It’s Y/N.” The voice on the phone responded to him. You. It was you. Even the tone in your voice was the same- somewhere between tired and annoyed, but Tony long knew you usually didn’t actually feel the way your voice sounded. Despite this, Tony couldn’t help but doubt. This had to be a trap. Someone pretending to mess with him. “Sorry for… what I did. I really wish I could have done it differently, given you some piece of mind, but trust me, it was the only way.” You told him, and Tony couldn’t help the small scoff escaping him. This had to be a trick, unless he was somehow talking to your ghost? As if.
“Prove it’s you.” He said simply, and he heard you chuckle.
“I knew you’d say that. I’m coming into the tower now. FRIDAY is about to alert you. Let me in.” You told him and hung up. Tony dropped the phone to his side, and waited. Waited for FRIDAY to activate, to speak. After a second, nothing happened, and Tony sighed, closing his eyes. It was a trick. A sick trick of some sort-
“Mr Stark?” The voice of the AI made Tony’s eyes snap open. “I don’t know how to explain this, but your daughter is downstairs and wants access to the elevator to meet with you. Shall I activate security and lockdown?” She asked him.
“No. Let her come up.” Tony answered, turning and starting to head back down the hallway, using the wall to stabilise himself. Ahead of him, the door to the meeting room opened, everyone stepping out and seeing him, Steve stepped forward, putting a hand on Tony’s arm. They were expecting an angry Tony, one who would snap at Cap, tell him to get his hands off of him, that some sick individual had called him as a joke, or that someone else had gotten your phone number and somehow called him on accident or something- not Tony, so pale they thought he was dying, seemingly in deep shock and not fully aware of his surroundings.
“Tony what happened?” Steve asked, holding the man up.
“It was her. She… she’s in the elevator now, she’s going to be here any second-” He told them.
“It’s probably a trap, everyone be ready.” Natasha spoke up, and everyone moved out of the hallway to the large open lounge area where the elevator’s opened to, and they waited. Tony forced Steve to take him as well, not sure who to believe. It sounded just like you. But you’re dead. Who else could be in the elevator? But you’ve been gone for three years.
After a short period of time, the elevator was heard reaching the floor, and everyone tensed as the door opened. Everyone stared as you stepped out. Completely fine. Your eyes scanned each of the avengers, before they landed on your dad. Your head tilted, your shoulders slumping, and you sighed. “Hi dad.”
Tony carefully pulled Steve off of him, walking slowly over to you until he stood over you, taking in all your features- making sure they were all correct. Little features only a parent would notice about their child, things that even a clone would fail to adopt. They were all there. Tony raised his arm and put it on your shoulder, and when his hand didn’t go straight through you like a hallucination or a hologram, he pulled you towards him into a hug. It was only when you wrapped your arms around him did he finally digest that you were actually here, and he lost his breath. “How? How are you here?” He asked as he clung to you.
“Where the hell have you been, kid?” Clint asked. “We all thought you were dead. You faked your own death for three years- why are you back now?” He asked. You pulled away from your dad to look at everyone again, before looking at your dad, who also very clearly wanted answers.
“It was related to your case, right?” Tony asked, and you nodded. “What happened?”
“Something unexpected happened. Someone, somehow, had the upper hand on me, and they made a very clear and very real threat that I had to take seriously and act quickly to get control of the situation back.”
“Y/N, stop being vague. You’ve been gone 3 years, I want answers, not another riddle to decipher.” Tony scorned at you, getting an annoyed look from you, before you responded.
“I thought I was up against a singular person, but I quickly realised it was multiple people, and then I found out that was an entire organisation, and the head of it all made it clear that they had the man power to make the threat to kill you and anyone I care about.” You explained, looking directly at Tony, before you turned to the others. “And you all too. They sent evidence to me that they had people tracking your every move and at any point if I didn’t do as they said, they could kill you immediately. I had to do as they say.”
“What did they want you to do?” Tony asked, this time his voice a lot calmer, though there was some veiled anger- not at you- in his voice.
“To die.” You answered, shortly, and quickly everyone realised exactly what had happened. “So I did. I had to make it look as real as possible, and also make sure no one could trace what I had been doing so they wouldn’t go after you for knowing things and making everything I did be for nothing. So, I died, they thought they had nothing to worry about anymore, and they went on with their ventures, and I got to work on getting under their skin without them realising. As of 2 hours ago, that case is officially closed. News reports will be rolling in soon, but I don’t know when or even if I can ‘come back to life’. But… I had to let you know as soon as it was safe to do so, that I’m alive and okay. And I’m sorry.” You explained.
“You were… undercover, this entire time? Did you do it alone?” Tony asked. You shook your head.
“I had a small group of people who knew bits and pieces of what I was doing but no one knew the full image, so even if they were compromised, I’d still have an upper hand, luckily it never got to that point, but other than them, yes, I was alone 95% of the time.” You explained to him.
“Anyone we know?” Natasha asked, clearly hinting to Maria or Fury, but you shook your head.
“None of the people I worked with have any ties back to any of you. Like I said, I covered all traces. None of the people I worked with even knew of me being a Stark.” You told her.
“So you solved the case. What now?” Thor asked. Your eyes moved to look back at your dad.
“I need to continue to lay low for a while, might need a bit of the help of SHIELD to expose the information I have as to why the actions I did were the right course, and I can’t just come back- I’ve been dead three years, that’ll be breaking news and easy to tie back to the case if it’s found out too early. So I’m going to lay low, keep my head down… no cases for quite a while. Consider it a holiday.”
“How about that vacation house I used to take you to all the time when you were little? In the middle of nowhere. Also means I can come say hi for a few weeks and we can catch up.” Tony offered, and you smiled and nodded.
“That sounds good. When we get there I can tell you all about the look on that idiot’s face when he realised I wasn’t dead and I was about to make him the dead one.”
“Alright maybe don’t admit to murder until we can get you cleared of charges.” Tony said, pushing you back to the elevator to take you home to gather what you needed, the dynamic of you oversharing or saying something inappropriate and him having to draw you back in or reprimand falling back into place so easily. Like you were never gone.
Hope you like it! If you have any questions, please send them in!

Akari Lokidottir | Kate Bishop X Reader | LOKI AU
CHAPTER 1
Tumblr media
Summary : As said by Loki in season 1, Sylvie came to him long ago on Asgard, though it was a lie in that universe, it was not in this. How will Sylvie come to find her daughter after the love of her life has sacrificed himself to be alone for the greater good?
Akari always wanted a normal life, after being on the run for multiple years she explained to her mother that she didn't want to help her mother destroy the TVA and went to Earth starting a new normal life and changing her name to Ava Scott.
Living with a friend she made instantly, Kate Bishop and Ava drew closer in their college years. But how will she explain to her that her father was the murderer of Kate's father? And how will the story unfold when Kate gets to know that her best friend has magic powers?
Pairings : Kate Bishop X Ava/ Akari (Reader)
A/N: Originally on my |Wattpad @apterodactyl12|
As the lively atmosphere of the college campus gradually quieted down, Ava let out a sigh and gently tapped her friend on the shoulder.
"You're late!" the girl exclaimed, eyeing Ava with a playful smirk.
"Well, Franny, I don't want my friend to commit a crime, okay?" Ava sighed in response.
"It's not a crime! Just a little bet..." Kate, the blue-eyed archer, retorted with a mischievous grin, exchanging a soft glance with Ava.
"What if we do get caught, Kate? Imagine the consequences..." Ava hugged her worriedly, and Kate returned the embrace before pulling away with a smile, her gaze drifting toward the Stane Tower.
"It's just a bet, and you know me..." Kate retrieved her bow. "I never back down from a challenge," she added, smirking.
"Alright, but hurry! We're risking getting caught!" Greer urged Kate to make her way to the rooftop before it was too late, prompting Kate to offer a nod of agreement before smiling at the others and leaving.
Kate approached the exit door, attempting to pick the lock, though her efforts proved futile.
"Ugh, come on!" she groaned in frustration, impulsively deciding to climb to the rooftop with remarkable balance, much to Ava's concern. As Kate safely reached the rooftop and answered Greer's call, and warned her to be careful.
"Yeah, I know," Kate replied nonchalantly, gathering her equipment. "Okay, so the real question is, does the bell swing back and forth, or just the dangly thingy swing back and forth?" she pondered aloud.
"It's obviously the bell," Greer chimed in.
"See? I would disagree! I think it would be the dangly thingy..."
Kate smirked confidently, grabbing her bow.
"Nice outfit, by the way," Ava complimented.
"Thanks, Ava. Sometimes you gotta dress the part," Kate chuckled before taking aim.
"I know it's a bet, but are you sure the arrow won't cause any damage?" Franny asked, exchanging a concerned glance with Ava.
"No," Kate replied with unwavering confidence, releasing the arrow, which ricocheted off the bell and hit the ground.
"Well, that was a bit of a letdown" Greer sighed in disappointment.
"Okay, that's enough, Kate! The bet's over! Get down now!" Ava shouted through the phone, growing increasingly frustrated when Kate ignored her warnings.
Ignoring Ava's pleas, Kate calmed herself, focused her breathing, and released another arrow, this time hitting the rope and causing the bell to ring. Ava's initial anger turned to surprise, mirrored by Greer and Franny's astonishment.
"What do you say now, Ava?" Kate smirked, turning to Ava.
"Amazing, Kate!" Ava exclaimed proudly, eliciting cheers from Kate on the rooftop. However, their celebration was short-lived as they heard a loud thud, followed by Kate's shoulder dropping and Ava's expletive.
The bell had fallen, and as the campus security burst through the door, Ava urged Kate to get down quickly, but Kate remained frozen. As Greer and Franny ran, dragging Ava along, Ava hesitated, her concern for Kate outweighing her own fear.
Later, as Ava and Kate exited Grand Central Terminal and headed toward the main street, Kate received a call from her mother. Ava couldn't make out the conversation, but Kate reassured her mother that they were on their way.
"It's okay," Ava said reassuringly, noticing Kate's sadness. When Kate revealed that her mother would likely punish her for her actions, she broke down in tears, seeking comfort in Ava's arms.
"It's going to be fine," Ava whispered, holding Kate close and offering words of reassurance before Kate reluctantly left for home after Ava had made her laugh by saying she won't burn down their apartment.
Back at the apartment, Ava was watching a movie when Kate called, expressing her frustration about her mother's engagement to Jack which her mother didn't tell her but Armand did and her impending return to the party.
"Well, good luck escaping the wrath of your mother," Ava chuckled before ending the call and returning to her movie.
An hour later, the doorbell rang, and Ava opened it to find a masked Kate standing there, frantically explaining that she had to leave immediately.
"What's going on?" Ava asked, confused.
"I'll explain later, I promise. But for now, please, just feed the dog!" Kate hurriedly instructed before dashing off without further explanation.
As Ava knelt to pet the dog, she noticed the tracking screen with the name 'Armand Duquesne' and couldn't help but wonder why Kate was tracking him.
"Huh..." she murmured to herself, pondering the mystery surrounding her friend's actions.

Chapter 5: Avengers: Age of Ultron - Two Ghosts
Tumblr media
Part 9:
“Say hi to Auntie Nat and Auntie Y/n,” I listened to Laura’s voice on the video of baby Nathan that she sent us. “Look at your cousin, Rina,” I showed the video to my daughter. “He’s cute right?” I smiled as she nodded.
Walking through the hallways of the new Avengers facility was something else. “The rules have changed,” said Steve. “We're dealing with something new,” I looked at the three men. “Well, the Vision's artificial intelligence.” “A machine.” “So it doesn't count,” Steve tried his best, hoping his failure would be overlooked by this. “No. It's not like a person lifting the hammer,” shrugged Dad who was also on Steve’s side on this one. “Right. Different rules for us.” “And what do I get? I lifted the hammer,” I asked and Steve looked surprised along with my father. “Free vacation to Asgard?” Offered Thor. “I will take you up on that one.”
“Aren’t you bummed that Tony is stepping back?” Asked Steve as we made our way back inside. “He won’t stay away for long, I know him.” “And what about you? Taking some time to yourself and Katarina?” “Maybe… But we have plenty to do here, so maybe some other time…” We reached the hall where Natasha was. “You want to keep staring at the wall, or do you want to go to work? I mean, it's a pretty interesting wall,” said Steve, and Natasha turned around immediately. “I thought you and Tony were still gazing into each other's eyes. How do we look?” She asked as she walked up to us. I handed her the tablet that held all the information that we’d need to make new Avengers. “Well, we're not the '27 Yankees.” The stupid baseball references. “We've got some hitters.” “They're good. They're not a team,” I said. “Let's beat 'em into shape.”
***
Steve was given the task to show the 4 new team members the whole facility. Since it is a big building, I thought I would just relax a little with Katarina in the sleeping floor’s living room. We watched some cartoons and had some fruit snacks.
We were sitting on the floor, playing with some wooden building toys when Katarina threw her hands in the air and smiled widely, looking behind me. I turned around and saw Natasha smiling at my daughter. Katarina stood up and ran to her. “Hey Bubba,” Nat picked her up and kissed all over her face, making the little girl laugh so hard. “How about you watch some cartoons with Auntie Maria while I talk to your Mama, hm? We could get ice cream after,” Natasha whispered to her and she nodded. Maria came in and took Katarina with her.
Natasha watched as Hill walked off with my daughter before turning to look at me. She put her hands in her pockets and stood up straight. “What is happening?” I was confused about the situation. I sat up on the couch and with a big sigh, she stood in front of me. “I want you to listen to what I’m gonna say next, without interrupting me. I thought about it… a lot, so please hear me out,” she said and I nodded.
“We’ve had a rough couple of months, maybe even a year. I think we both made it difficult but I did a lot of awful things. I said a lot of things that I regret. I never intended to refer to you as a…” she cleared her throat. “A whore,” I helped her out. “Yes, I’m sorry about that. We were extremely mean to each other but you still looked out for me and I’m thankful for that…” “Natalia, stop with the big speech. We both know that we didn’t mean the things we said. We talked about this,” I spread my arms and she sighed, looking everywhere but me. She was fidgeting with her hands, she looked very nervous. “Nat…” “I love you, Y/n. And this thing with Bruce just made me realize that I could never love someone like I do you. What I’m trying to say is…” My eyes were wide open at this point. “Is that I’d like us to try again with full honesty and directness, no hiding things from the past.”
I was speechless for a second and very much surprised. Getting to this point meant that we really treated each other shit and it clearly affected both our lives. For Natasha to stand here and talk about her feelings is beyond her. And I respect that and am glad to see her be more connected to her emotions.
But she can’t expect us to go straight back to where we left off even though I miss her a lot too.
“I hope you don’t think that we can go back to exactly where we left things off,” I glanced down at my hands then slowly looked back up at her hoping she wouldn’t throw a tantrum.
“Yeah, I know that. But Y/n…” She sat down next to me and reached for my hand. At first, I was hesitant to let her take a hold of it but my senses seemed to shut down and she easily did as she wished. “We can work this out. Slowly but we can. We got through more difficult times together and separately too. Дорогая (darling), it’s us.”
One look in her eyes and I got back into the same moment I fell in love with her. Natasha doesn’t change in a lot of ways, her heart will always be the same but as a person, she evolves a lot. Maybe not fast but very efficiently. I believe she learned and found out what I meant by being honest. Bruce didn’t speak about his past often but he didn’t hide a single thing and I think she realized how important honesty is in every relationship. She needed more proof I guess.
But man how I am in love with this woman. She will never fail to amaze me. No matter what will happen to us, she will forever be my always.
“I miss you a lot, Nat,” I squeezed her hand. Her eyes were full of hope and she was so eager for my answer. “I want to try again too, but things are different. I have a plus one now. She’s growing so fast and the thing with James is very unstable. We won’t have as much time together as we used to. Katarina is my number one priority now.” “And I understand that completely. Oh and besides she loves me, come on. I’m her personal clown basically,” she smirked and it made me laugh because it was true. “Let me take you on a date and we’ll see how it goes,” Natasha suggested. “I’d like that.”
***
“I’ll see you tomorrow, okay? You have fun with Grandpa,” I kissed the side of Katarina’s head before she ran off to her playroom. “Not that I mind spending time with the little devil here, but where are you going?” He crossed his arms and tilted his head. “I’m uhm… going on a date,” I cleared my throat, avoiding his eyes. “With whom?” “Natasha,” I mumbled, scratching the back of my neck. “Who?” “Natasha, I’m going out with Natasha.”
Silence fell on us, and I didn’t know what he was thinking because I didn’t even wanna know to be honest. “Okay, have fun.” And then he left for the playroom. “My family is so weird.”
***
Getting ready was nerve-wracking. I felt like we were gonna meet for the first time again, like we never even dated and I was extremely nervous. Even though we both want this to work out, nobody knows if it will or not. I made sure I looked my best, ready to make Natasha swoon.
On the way to the restaurant, I checked the time about a hundred million times just as many times I looked in my little pocket mirror to look at my makeup.
“So this is a date, huh?” Asked Happy from the front seat. “Yeah. I’m actually a little nervous,” I chuckled nervously. “Oh please, if you didn’t exist I don’t think Romanoff would have feelings,” he said and I took that as a compliment. “With you weird people comes strange history, don’t let that get between the two of you. I’ve seen the way you look at each other, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Be grateful to have found it already.” “Wise words from the man himself. How are you still single Happy? You’re a good catch,” I suggested. “Your dad. That’s why.” “I wouldn’t even doubt that.”
We pulled up to the restaurant and I got even more anxious. “You’ll be great. She’s already head over heels for you.” “Thanks. Go home and get on a dating app or something.” “You’re worse than him sometimes,” he said, as I got out of the car. “Bye Happy.”
He drove away and I took a deep breath before turning to the entrance of the restaurant.
I asked for the reservation and the lady at the front showed me to the table where Natasha was sitting already. She looked beautiful. I wasn’t the only one who went all out on looks.
She had this amazing deep green suit on and honestly, I wanted to die from how good she looked in it. With her red hair… perfection.
Once she saw me, she put her phone away quickly and stood up. She looked a little jumpy.
“Hey,” she said softly as she took a good look at me. “Hi, you look amazing,” I said and leaned in to give a kiss on her cheek. Her hand came up to my waist, knowing her way around. “So do you, as always.”
We sat down and soon the waiter appeared with our menus and we started to pick and choose our meal. “This is a very nice place, how did you find it?” I asked as I looked around the beautifully decorated restaurant. It was very fancy and it felt like I was in a movie.
“Maria suggested it, I didn’t know she goes to places like this. I didn’t know she goes anywhere, to be honest,” said Natasha as she looked through the different options on the menu.
“Should we get the wine we used to get?” Asked Nat. “Yeah, I was thinking the same. I have my dish too so if you’re ready we can order,” I closed the menu. “Yeah, I’m ready.”
We soon ordered our food and as the waiter left, my nerves came back as I looked at the beautiful redhead in front of me. “Why are you nervous? It’s not like we haven’t done this before,” she said with a grin on her face. I sighed with a small smile. I can’t hide a single emotion from her.
“I know we did, but I still feel like it’s a first date. We haven’t talked about our lives a lot lately and I don’t know… We also changed a lot so it’s kinda like a… upgraded version of us, first date.” “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“So anything new that I may not know about?” I asked as the waiter came back with our wine. “Uhm… I’m not sure. Oh I got a cat,” she said and I couldn’t believe what she just said. “You what?” “I have a cat. She’s been outside of the apartment building for a while and I kept feeding her, and after a week I just took her in. It was pretty lonely at home so I thought why not?” Explained Natasha and I just smiled. “That’s cute. I’d never thought you’d take some random cat in. Does she have a name?” “Liho. It’s fitting for her situation.”
We talked through the whole night and I just felt so relieved. It’s like we haven’t skipped time. The conversation didn’t stop, we shared everything and more with each other and I was really happy.
“Have you heard anything from Barnes?” Natasha asked softly and I glanced up at her before going back to my dinner. “He hasn’t even checked the mailbox for at least a month. I just hope he’s alive. Katarina already asked about where he is and I don’t even know myself,” I sighed, and the next moment Natasha’s hand was on mine giving it a gentle squeeze. “I’m sure he’s fine.”
“And how’s it being a mom? You wished for that since I’ve known you,” smiled Nat. “It's honestly one of the best things in life. She’s such an amazing little girl, I mean you’ve seen how incredible she is. She doesn’t have a bad bone in her body. It’s just so hard to see her grow so fast. I’ve missed so much already with her and I don’t want to lose a single thing. I’ve never planned to have a child at this age but I couldn’t imagine my life without her anymore.” “You’re an amazing mom, Y/n, I hope you know that,” said Natasha with a cute smile on her face. “Thanks, I try my best,” I looked down at my food shyly. “Do you want kids?” I asked bluntly and I didn’t know if she’s gonna take the question well but she just looked surprised. “Well… I haven’t really considered it. I wouldn’t say I didn’t think about it but… I don’t know, it seems like a very far stretch.” “You’d be a great mom,” I said and she looked at me with a concerned look. “You think so?” “Oh definitely, I see you with the Bartons and Katarina. You’d give everything to your baby the moment they arrive. You would be the good cop for sure,” I chuckled. “No, I wouldn’t. I’d be strict,” she straightened her posture, trying to look strict. “Oh come on, Natalia… you would spoil them for life,” I said and she thought about it for a second. “You’re probably right.”
“You said you haven’t spoken to your family since Russia. What’s that all about?” I asked and she seemed like she was ready to share her story. “They are not my real parents but we… We acted like a family for 3 years on a mission. It was the four of us: Alexei, Melina, Yelena and me. That was the only time I got to experience a family life. Alexei and Melina had to retrieve some data in Ohio so we lived there for that time. But of course, we had to go back once they got the job done. Melina was raised in the Red Room and I think she still works for them, Alexei is in jail if I’m right, and Yelena… I have no idea. I couldn’t trace her back to anywhere. We were used like puppets, Yelena was so small that she barely understood the concept of us being a fake family.” “Were Alexei and Melina good parents?” I asked and she shrugged. “They did the best they could.”
“Any plans for the near future?” Asked Natasha as we were waiting for our dessert. “Actually… I’ve been in talks with Nick and Maria about starting a new… SHIELD, but with a couple of changes. We’ve been compromised way too many times since SHIELD operates and we need to change that. So if you’re looking for a new employer…” I suggested and she chuckled. “Then you’re gonna be my boss again.” “When was I ever your boss?” “When I was in Stark Industries,” she said and I playfully rolled my eyes. “Okay, well that wasn’t on paper. You were my dad’s assistant.” “You could’ve bossed me around if you wanted to,” she said with a slight smirk on her face. “I should’ve lived with the opportunity.”
After we had our dessert, we bickered over who’s gonna pay but in the end Natasha won. We called a cab for ourselves and as each of our cars arrived we turned to each other on the streets of Manhattan.
“I had a great time,” she said with a knowing smile. “It wasn’t so bad,” I shrugged with a smirk and she chuckled lowly. “I think we’ll be fine, Romanoff,” I bumped my elbow into hers and she quickly had her eyes on me. She looked almost shocked when I said this and I just thought she had some hope in herself. “So it didn’t work out the first time. That’s what second chances are for,” I said and with a kiss on her cheek, I said my goodbyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” “See you tomorrow,” her cheeks rounded with a slight pink tint on them. We both left for our cars, making our way home.

Tis the Season
Natasha Romanoff x Daughter!reader, Clint Barton x Teen!reader
Clint takes you with his family to New York
Word Count: 1,004
A/N: Happy holidays!
Warnings: Scenes from Hawkeye ep. 1, mentions of Nat’s death (let me know if I miss any)
Tumblr media
Christmas used to be your favorite time of year. You and your mom would go all out on decorations and presents for each other each and every year. It was what you looked forward to but now, since she was gone, you dreaded it. You didn’t feel up to all your normal holiday festivities without her. It wouldn’t be the same anymore.
Once Thanos was defeated and everyone came back, Clint knew you’d have nowhere to go since he took it upon himself to take you in. He saw you like his daughter and he knew his own kids loved you like their fourth sibling and Laura loved you and felt for you. She knew how badly Clint hurt after Natasha’s death so she couldn’t even imagine how you were feeling. The two adults tried their best to make sure you were still going.
It had been Laura’s idea to send everyone to New York for a little before Christmas and initially, you were supposed to stay behind with her but Clint convinced you to go with them. He figured it might help to leave the house and have fun with the family. You were a part of them now anyways so within a few days, you were packed and on a plane heading to New York.
~~~~~
You were having enough fun to distract yourself from the feelings of missing your mom but it was always in the back of your head, whether or not you knew it. Clint made sure to keep you all busy and he denied that it was to tire you all out so he could have peace and quiet at night but you and Lyla knew. The boys on the other hand, couldn't be more oblivious.
You and her stuck together pretty much the entire time. Even before this trip, you two were super close. She was the only friend you had close to your age and she saw you as the sister she always wanted but never had. You two had a lot in common since both your parents were both Avengers and they themselves were super close.
~~~~~
Throughout your time in the city, Nate had been seeing signs and posters for the Rogers musical and wanted to go see it. You weren’t too interested in musicals but went because everyone else wanted to go and you didn’t want to be alone but you soon regretted that choice.
You hadn’t realized how much your mom would be featured in the show. It wasn’t a lot at first but anytime the actress playing your mom came on stage, you thought for a second it was her. It didn’t get bad until the scene of the Battle of New York. You watched her closely, wishing it was really your mom and not just an actor. You missed her so much and would do anything you could to get her back.
Lyla saw you zoned out and focused on the actress and was about to break your attention but your eyes started to water and she knew her dad would have to take care of this. She tried to get his attention but it didn’t work until she waved her hand in his face.
“Dad?” she whispered, as Clint reached up to his ear, “Did you turn your hearing aids off?” she asked.
Clint turned to look at her, “Yeah I mean, I was there and I know what happens.”
“Are you okay?” she asked, since she noticed he had been zoned in on the Natasha actress as well.
“Yeah yeah I’m fine,” he said, turning to face Lyla, “Is everything okay?”
Lyla leaned back in her seat so Clint could see you staring at the stage, starting to cry. He leaned across his daughter to reach over to you, shaking your shoulder lightly.
“Come on, let's get some air,” he said, shaking you again, “Kid lets go,” he said a bit louder, but still soft enough to not disrupt the show. You didn’t move so he gently grabbed your arm and pulled you up and away from your seat. You snapped out of it so he wrapped his arm around your shoulder and led you outside the theater.
Once outside, Clint kneeled in front of you and put his hands on your shoulders, “Y/n? Are you with me?”
Even though you were crying, you still nodded and managed to get a few words in, “I just miss her so much Clint,” you sobbed, leaning into him and hugging him. He understood how you felt so he hugged you back.
“I miss her too Y/n. I really do,” he said softly, “And I wish she was still here for you but she sacrificed herself so you could be safe. And so could everyone else and we have to accept it.”
You shook your head, “I know but I wish she still hadn’t. I’d rather be dead with her then alive without her.”
Clint pulled back from you and looked into your eyes, “Hey,” he said sternly, “How would Nat feel about you saying that? You know she would rather walk through Hell for eternity then let you die okay? So I don’t want to hear any of that crap. Keep going forward and make your momma proud. That’s all she ever wanted.”
You would have said something back but Cooper, Nate, and Lyla all came out from the theater so you quickly whipped your tears away and tried your best to act like everything was okay.
“Everything good?” Clint asked his kids.
“It was boring,” Nate said, leaning on to Clint.
“Yeah it was nothing like I expected,” Cooper said, with Lyla agreeing.
“Well then,” Clint said, “I know a great food place down the street. Let’s skip the rest of this show and go get food. Y/n, does that sound good?”
You nodded and the others agreed so you all followed Clint down the street to get the “best food in the city’ as Clint called it.

The Runaway Distance Life Of A Little Stark Chapter 14: Here's to the good times
Pairing: Tony Stark & daughter!Reader, Nick Fury & reader, parker family & reader, Ben parker & reader Summary: Reader’s birthday warning: Panic attack, memories Co author with: callikc Tag:  @venomsvl  @geeksareunique Previous
Four months had passed.
It was May 30th now, a day you'd never really found much joy in. The day that you were born.
It just reminded you that you never got to meet your mother, that your birth was the reason she died. And you never really got a decent celebration. Sure, you had the money and the mansion to organize a party, but you never had the friends. And, of course, your dad was always too busy to be there.
Birthdays just weren't fun in the Stark household.
As you entered your lab, you let out a heavy sigh and put down an untouched cup of coffee, thinking about what you could possibly do to occupy yourself for the day. Most of your projects were complete and you didn't feel like starting from scratch just yet.
You did have a little side project that was almost finished. It was your own little experiment called Test Eco in which you made your own environment in a glass box from samples of earth's minerals. It needed a test or two so you grabbed one of the many notebooks littered around and approached the box.
"FRIDAY?" You called.
"Yes, miss?" The AI greeted.
"How are we doing on Test Eco?"
"My data suggests the potential for a copper deposit, dropping at fifteen. I also found coltan, cobalt, and silicon."
"Huh..." You peered at the box, impressed by what you could accomplish sometimes. "All of those can be used and processed?"
"In a virtual environment such as this, I'm afraid not. But if presented with real Earth conditions, possibly. However, the most important are the iron and bauxite deposits I detected."
"Construction materials?" You questioned, intrigued.
"Aluminum, and everything needed to repair existing equipment as it ages."
"And the soil?"
"Light on nitrates."
"Nothing I can't compensate for. What about the water sample?"
"There is some salinisation and minimal microbial concentrations."
"Easily eliminated with purification and filtration processes."
"Cleaner than here."
You nodded and smiled, noting down everything. "Thanks, FRIDAY."
"My pleasure, miss."
You once again praised yourself for creating something as amazing as that and were about to do some more tests when you heard a knock on the door of your lab. You turned and saw Fury.
"What did I do now?" You mumbled.
Putting on a smile, you set everything down and went over to let him in.
"Campbell." He greeted in the usual business-like tone.
You nodded once. "Hey, Director."
"You're in early."
"I got bored."
"Hmm."
You stood there, a little awkward. "So can I help with anything, or...?"
Fury entered the lab and closed the door so you'd have more privacy. He looked around, seemingly impressed by some of the things you had created, and then turned to you.
"It's your day off." He stated.
You raised a brow. "Since when do you complain about extra hours?"
"I don't. But today is a 'special occasion'."
"Is it?"
"Happy birthday."
You almost laughed at how strange it sounded coming from someone like him, especially since it seemed so painful for him to say the words, but you kept a neutral expression.
"Thanks, but I think I'll work it off." You said.
"Campbell, you've worked with more dedication and the assiduous nature of half my agents in the time you've been here. SHIELD won't collapse if you take a day off."
"Famous last words."
"Take it as an order."
You crossed your arms. "You're ordering me to take a day off and celebrate?"
He nodded. "Yes."
"I hate you."
"I'm sure you do."
Knowing you couldn't win, you rolled your eyes and shrugged. "Fine. I'll take a day."
"Good." He reached into his jacket and withdrew what looked like a card. "Go crazy."
You smirked, amused. "If this ain't favoritism I don't know what is. How much?"
"Limitless."
"Holy shit." With a grin, you accepted the gift. "You're a softie really, aren't you? Director Furry."
He did not look amused.
"Agent Hill has left you a car outside. It's all yours."
Actually feeling like today could be better than you anticipated, you smiled. "Tell her I said thanks. I'll be back in tomorrow."
He nodded once more. "As expected. Have fun, Campbell."
"Oh, I will."
With a smile and your new gift tucked away safely, the two of you parted ways and you checked everything in the lab before leaving yourself. A few agents and scientists you were friendly with said hi and you waved back.
The car outside was much more impressive than you anticipated. A 2006 Dodge Challenger. Agent Hill certainly knew your tastes.
There was another agent waiting with the keys and he tossed you them when you approached, not saying a word. Most agents didn't anyway, it was normal to be ignored. In fact, you were certain 'grumpy' and 'mute' were part of the pass criteria.
But, God, did that car feel fantastic as you drove.
The roar of the engine, the smooth touch of the wheel, and the leather seats... It was like heaven.
-
After celebrating your birthday with a not so cheap meal and a Starbucks, you decided it was time to head home.
It was only the afternoon and you didn't expect many people to be out on the streets. However, as you parked the new car beside the sidewalk, you noticed a commotion at the end of the road. You didn't bother driving over since there were too many people but you did walk to investigate.
The people were apparently shouting and cheering for something, huddled around two people you couldn't see from your current position.
But then the crowd parted slightly and you felt like your heart dropped in your chest.
It was your dad.
Clint Barton was there as well and the two seemed to be making fun of each other and being general idiots as the adoring public reached out with things to be signed. You could barely breathe.
It was your dad.
He was so close. After all this time...
When you saw him talking to people, you accidently called out. It didn't mean much since the overlapping voices drowned your own and no one noticed you.
You wanted nothing more than to reach out, to let him know you were okay and you were there, but you couldn't. You couldn't without bringing attention to yourself. The threat, now years old, still hung like a shadow and you forced yourself to walk away with tears in your eyes.
It felt like the ghost of Obadiah was strangling you.
Then you just ran.
You ran as far as you could, straight to your apartment. Once there, you slammed the bathroom door and simply broke down as everything overwhelmed you.
You wouldn't get to see him ever again.
Suddenly it didn't seem to matter if he ignored you or you were rude to him, you just wanted a dad again. With no mother or siblings, he was all you had. And you wouldn't ever get the chance to tell him you loved him despite all the estrangement between you.
You fell to the floor and pulled your knees close to your chest as you sobbed. Breathing felt like trying to swallow sandpaper and even if air did make it through it was foreign and unnatural, causing your breakdown to become more severe and messy.
"Ellen?" There was a knock at the door and you looked up, everything blurred and fuzzy.
You left the front door open in your rush but the voice was Ben's so you knew you were safe. You wanted to say something but nothing would leave your mouth. You only lost more air by trying to speak.
"(Y/n)?" He asked more quietly.
You had a hand over your chest as you panicked and fumbled for the bathroom door. There was a click as you unlocked it but then fell back again.
Ben was immediately at your side, his hands on your arms as you fought to breathe. "(Y/n)? Hey, you okay?"
Your body shook and you cried and cried. He didn't want to scare you further and carefully pulled you in for a hug, whispering words of assurance.
Thanks to him your breathing started to get back to normal, your heart no longer as loud. You could finally catch air instead of nothingness. You curled up into the smallest ball you could muster and clutched Ben's arm as he held you, the tears still streaming down your face.
"You're okay, (Y/n)." He said, keeping you close and comforted.
"I nearly talked to him." You spoke up with a broken voice. "My dad."
"Tony?"
You nodded. "He was - He was right there. I-I couldn't - It was-"
"Hey, it's okay. You're okay."
You tried to focus and explain it all, and were thankful he just waited patiently for you to process. After you settled, you moved to your living room and sat down.
"I just can't believe he's really a superhero." You whispered.
"It's a big job." Ben agreed. "I saw him when those things invaded the city. He saved my guys and me. He's a good man."
"A lot of power." You sighed. "All those people he needs to help... With great power comes great responsibility."
Ben studied you carefully and by now he'd known you long enough to realize it wasn't just the superhero status and tough past that made you miss Tony. It was simply just a daughter missing her father.
"He hasn't forgotten, you know." He said.
You looked up, bottom lip still trembling from the earlier panic attack. "What?"
"Tony. He loves you."
"I don't... I don't know."
"(Y/n), he does. A parent never stops loving a child. I'll love Peter until the day I die and even beyond that. Your old man is the same."
You closed your eyes and shook your head. "It's been too long."
"Not for him. Trust me."
You wanted to argue, to insist he was wrong, but you just didn't have the energy. What started off as a decent birthday for once had quickly turned sour. You needed to sleep.
"I'm gonna take five." You decided.
Ben nodded. "Alright. I'm next door if you need me, kid."
"Thanks."
He smiled sadly and wrapped his arms around you one more time. You melted into the hug and took the moment to breathe, wishing you could stay like that forever.
"Happy birthday." He then said, placing a kiss on the top of your head.
-
You woke up about an hour later to a light weight on your middle. You weren't too sure on what it was until a little boy's giggle followed.
"Peter Benjamin Parker, what are you doing?" You grumbled, eyes still closed.
"Morning, Ellen." You heard his cheery tone greet back. "I want to show you something."
"Go away, I'm dead."
"No, you're just lazy."
"Peter!" A new voice scolded.
You opened your eyes at that, realizing two more people accompanied him. "May? Ben?"
You were surprised.
May held a birthday cake lit with candles, and Ben held a bag that looked filled to the brim with all kinds of snacks and candy. Peter was standing next to the bed with half of his body on top of yours and an adorable child-like grin on his face.
Tumblr media
"What's the occasion?" You joked.
Peter rolled his eyes and poked your cheek. "Don't play dumb. It's song time."
"No, thanks. I like my windows in one piece."
He stuck out his tongue. "Shut up and listen."
"Peter." May scolded again while Ben simply laughed.
"Sorry." He mumbled, standing straight.
Then, on the count of three, Ben initiated the singing.
"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to Ellen... Happy birthday to you!" The three of them sang.
During the song, Peter sent a not-so-subtle wink when your alias was named which made you laugh.
"Thank you." You then said with a smile. "Really."
"Aren't you, like, ancient now?" Peter teased.
You playfully glared, then looked at his aunt and uncle. "Are you sure you two raised him?"
They laughed and May shrugged. "I think it's your influence, Ellen."
You faked a gasp. "I am insulted!"
"And I'm hungry." Peter complained, taking your hand and dragging you out of bed. "Come on!"
And for the rest of the afternoon the four of you had a mini party.
You had pizza and cake and watched some random TV in the background. The Parkers had even gotten you a gift. It was a homemade lava lamp in your favorite color. It was a simple gift, but it meant the world.
For the first time, your birthday was genuine fun. Save for the incident earlier on, you felt truly appreciated and loved. You couldn't help but remember celebrating all your other birthdays alone since you never got along with your dad.
Even after Parkers left - May for work and Peter to study - you had a smile on your face. However, thinking back on your life also made you also think forwards, and you realized there was something you needed to take care of.
The warehouse in Upstate.
You hadn't visited in a while since it was mostly just storage for you now. It was collecting a ton of dust but it still felt like home, bearing in mind it was for a few months when you were homeless.
The inside was tall and looming, shrouded in darkness. Even asking FRIDAY to illuminate the place didn't do much. Still, it wasn't too difficult to navigate.
"Hey, FRIDAY?" You called softly.
"Yes, miss?" She replied.
You looked at the clear space ahead of you and took a breath. "Show me Protocol Waterlight."
"Are you sure, miss?"
"Nope, but go ahead."
Even FRIDAY hesitated, but finally did bring up the image.
It seemed so innocent at first, just a calming lake with a distant sunset. It was in the form of a hologram, meaning the water rippled and glistened in the dusk light. However, that sunset was simply the promise of a future sunrise, a light to eventually emerge from the coming darkness.
Time went on, and little waterlights began to appear, floating on the surface of the lake. Their candles made the water appear like a night sky filtered with stars, beacons so far away and yet seemingly so close. It resembled a tribute almost.
As you watched, the orange glare reflected in your eyes, you focused on each individual lantern, remembering little bits of your past and the stories you created as you grew up.
Tumblr media
One of your very first memories was sneaking into your dad's workshop and watching him take apart one of his cars. You took mental notes and tried to do the same with another car the next week but he had only gotten annoyed.
You remembered one of your birthdays in which Pepper, Happy, and Rhodey tried to celebrate with you. They had made you a beautiful cake and bought you so many amazing presents but the first thing you asked was where your dad was. You could see the looks of uncertainty on their faces even now.
You remembered high school, with so many people wanting to be your friend solely because of your last name. They would ask what it was like to be rich and live in a mansion with such a famous father but when you had no amazing stories to tell they simply started to act as if you didn't exist anymore.
You remembered running away. That fear and coldness, the thought of leaving everything behind, it haunted you even now. That shadow might never lift, and you didn't know how much longer you could live with it.
You remembered everything as you watched the waterlights. From childhood to the present, things were as clear as day.
And when you thought of your dad...
Instead of feeling rage and hate and malice, you smiled tearfully. Thinking of him was the easy part, you did it every day. But missing him? That hurt like hell. Even in the darkest days, when you felt inadequate and unworthy, you found yourself remembering who you were. You remembered whose daughter you were.
You were (Y/n) Stark, and it was about time you came to terms with that.

"Bring my Daughter back." - Doctor Strange x Daughter!reader
masterlist
“Please-”
“No, Y/N. How many times have I said no?” My father rolls his eyes, putting his mug of coffee back down on the table.
“Why not?” I pout, trying to guilt-trip him into letting me have my own way. I desperately wanted to train in the Sanctum just like he had, but he kept claiming that it was ‘too dangerous’ and that he didn’t want me to get hurt.
“You know perfectly well why I don’t want you to train in the Sanctum. I don’t think it’s necessary that I tell you again, I don’t want you to do something stupid and get hurt.” My dad sighs, putting his hand on my shoulder.
I slump down in disappointment, I knew he’d reject my wishes again. I try my pout again, followed by the puppy eyes, hoping that somewhere, I could pull at my father’s heart enough to make him change his mind.
“Don’t pull that on me, it won’t work.” Dad gave me the warning glare, I slumped further down into my chair. Suddenly, an idea sparked in my brain, if my Dad wouldn’t let me join the Sanctum and practice magic, there was always another option.
I leapt out of my chair, startling my dad as I went, I headed for the door so that I could exit.
“Y/N, where are you going?” He shouts after me, the realisation hit him in the face. “Don’t you even think about it young lady, do not go and ask him if you can join! Get back here!”
“What is she asking who?” I ran face-first into the answer to all my problems, Wong.
“Wong! My favourite human ever! My best friend, light of my life and all that. I need a favour.” I grin up at him, puppy eyes at the ready as Wong always falls for them.
“Wong, stay strong. Don’t listen to her, don’t fall for her eyes. Ignore her, please Wong. Do not listen to a word that comes from her mouth.” My dad pleads, it was his turn to use the puppy dog eyes on Wong this time.
“What is it you require me to help with, Y/N?” Wong rolls his eyes at my dad.
“We-ell, a certain father of mine won’t let me train to be a sorcerer in the sanctum, so I was wondering, please, if you’d let me train. Please, and thank you.” I give Wong a little bow of respect as he’s the Sorcerer Supreme, and then I pull my puppy eyes out on the man.
Wong’s face wrangles in pain, it was evident that my puppy eyes were working on him, so I pout at him as well, the pain growing stronger and stronger on his face. Dad glared at him, Wong turned away in an attempt to block out the guilt-tripping I was doing.
“Come on, be strong, block her out.” My dad encourages, smiling at the Sorcerer Supreme gently. My dad continues to encourage him, trying to distract him from me and my pleas to be taught sorcery.
“Strange, her begging is too powerful, I can’t say no to her. Look at her for crying out loud, how the hell am I supposed to say no to your daughter? Look how sweet she is, is she crying? Y/N?” Wong swivels around, ignoring the disappointed sigh that my dad let out from behind him.
I look up at Wong, the fake tears pool at the base of my eyelids, Wong’s hardened expression melts at the sight of me, he immediately pulls me into a hug.
“Shh, Y/N, it’s okay. I’m sorry that your father is so set on keeping you away from sorcery, you’d make a fine sorcerer. You really would.” Wong tries to comfort me.
“Wong, she’s trying to guilt-trip you.” My father warns, Wong waves him off and opens a portal.
“It would be my honour to teach you.” Wong says, walking the both of us through the portal, beginning to close it off.
“Bring my daughter back here now, don’t you dare close that portal Wong, bring her back now!” My father yells, the portal closes and Wong smiles.
“Thank you, and sorry for guilt-tripping you.” I grin at the Sorcerer Supreme, he shakes his head fondly.
“You know, I would have taught you either way.”

Sneak Peak Lightning Bug - Chapter 20
You were exhausted both mentally and physically. You loved spending time with Natasha and Wanda as they brought you to Bryant Park and the New York Public Library (you did get a library card). At the end of your adventure, you got two slices of cheese pizza. Now back at the tower, you wanted to lay in bed and fall asleep. You didn’t realize how exhausting it would be so social. As the metal doors opened to your floor, you were expecting the it to be quiet and empty. You were mistaken. Instead you saw Kate, America, Yelena, and Peter were on the couch with a dog. You gasped, eyes glued to the one eyed Golden Retriever. “Puppy,” you whispered. Kate laughed.
“Well don’t just stand there come say hi,” you walked over, extending your hand to the dog for it to smell you. “His name is Lucky.”
“Or Pizza Dog,” America added on. Lucky licked your hand and it was you needed to drop to your knees and bury your face in his fur. You loved dogs. When you were younger, your next door neighbor had a yellow lab named Buddy. Sometimes, you went outside to go sit by the fence and pet him. He was never afraid of you.
“Wait,” you said suddenly. “His name is Pizza Dog?” The group laughed which launched them into the story of how Kate found the dog. Which Yelena explained as a ‘cool way to die’ getting hit by a car to save a dog. Kate left the dog in her apartment in a panic and gave him pizza to eat.
“I mean what New York city dog doesn’t love pizza,” Kate defended herself. She had a point. “But Eleanor’s ex-fiancé watches him for me,” you weren’t going to question that one. “I’m thinking about bring him to the Bartons” she scratched underneath his chin. “They love him and I think he’ll enjoy all the land.”

Oh I like this! EVIL SMILE 😈 I like this a lot
Oh Hell No-
Tumblr media
For just 10c a day you can help a starving author, that's less then a cup of Ko-fi
Shanks, Mihawk x Reader + Alucare, Vivian
Check out the Old Man Series
It had been a exhausting month out to sea, Shanks insisting the crew go to the grandline. Paired with also having Vivian start training to be a pirate like him-
She didn't object to this, her eyes still following her inspiration of Luffy. She worked hard, Went out to assist the crew and learn the ways of the ship and of being a pirate. Much to everyone's surprise however was the two skills she had picked up- Sharp Shooting and Gambling.. Shanks wasn't too thrilled about either however he couldn't lie he was impressed- She had taken up to learning from Yassop on guns while naturally able to win a lot of card games from the crew and walk away with heavy pockets.
Making port in a small Village to do some basic restocks Vivian traveled off to explore the peer. Deciding to spend some of her winnings-
Vivian was blown away, seeing such a pretty guy standing there at the docks. He was older then her by a bit, he had lovely dark hair tied in a low ponytail and dressed in dark clothes ment for training. However it was his eyes- She could see his eyes from there, bright yellow like gold. A feeling of warmth hit her cheeks and chest as she stared- However he must have felt it since he began to look around with a scowl on his face, Vi quickly walking away to pretend she hadn't been staring at the teenager. Her face she was sure was as red as her hair-
"Don't travel far Vi!" Shanks called out, Even though he knew she had a small pistol that Yassop had gifted her. She kept his words in mind and went around the pier to explore, buying a few snacks and so on till a flutter of black caught her eye- Turning to see a smaller sea vessel and a boy standing infront of it like he was impatiently waiting.
"Well I'll be damned- Is that Hawkeye?" Shanks said, Snapping Vivian from her spying fantasy to look up at her father.
"Ah there you are Vi-" Shanks called out as he walked back towards his daughter and saw her red face. Raising a brow at her red face, going to speak on it till his eyes caught the teen still glancing around.
"You know him?" She said softly, Shanks however looked confused as he stared at the teen. Waving for her to stay put while he walked forward to the teen and the sea vessel.
Shanks shook Alucare's hand and smiled at the young man-
Vi watched from afar, It seemed the two talked briefly before the teen headed back to the sea vessel. Returning with two adults, a clearly pregnant women and a tall man looking like the teen but older and with weird facial hair and short hair.
Shanks spoke with the tall man before he waved Vivian over.
"This is 'Hawkeye' Mihawk a old friend of mine, and This is Vi my daughter" Shanks said proudly, Mihawks eyebrows raising at hearing this and stared at Vivian, a hint of a smirk on his lips.
"It's nice to meet you Vivian" Mihawk said calmly, (Y/N) however smiled brightly and shook the young lady's hand.
"It's very lovely to meet you Vivian, Shanks" She said calmly and Alucare nodded as well giving a fast greeting to the child.
"It's nice to meet you Vivian" He said as he shook her hand politely- The girl barely able to mutter the words in return as she looked nervous. The teen quickly releasing her hand and offering it to the older red head.
"Nice to meet ya, Damn you look just like your father" He said with a laugh, truthfully he felt a odd clench in his chest since Alucare looked like Mihawk when Roger's died.
"Well since we are all here, why don't we go to the pub near by, I hear they also have good food so it shouldn't be an issue" Shanks suggested with a happy smile, you of course agreeing at this and thinking it would be nice. Mihawk and Alucare giving similar sighs and nodding in agreement-
"This here is the rest of my crew-" Shanks introduced with a smile- Alucare being silent but polite, That was till he saw Ben Beckman and heard his name, Glancing back to his father with pleading eyes that read 'please say no-' But all Mihawk did was nod silently making the teenager deflate slightly. Deciding that keeping his mouth shut was the best option-
A short journey back to Shanks Ship he gathered his crew to all venture to the pub and of course they were familiar with Mihawk but gave sweet introductions to (Y/N) and Alucare.
Shanks set down his drink as his eyes focused, seeing how Vivians cheeks were red, her eyes sparkling and the way she nervously fiddled with her hair. You catching this and seeing her like this as well and how she smiled so awkwardly around Alucare who was clearly seeing this in more of a babysitting light-
Once all introductions were done the pirates filed inside, it didn't take long for drinks to be poured and food to be served. Vivian being seated to a unamused Alucare who seemed to passively be listening to her as she tried to start conversation.
Your eyes wondered around at seeing the drunk patrons, it wasn't like you were in a current condition to drink yourself so the food was your comfort. But you couldn't help but glance to your son every now and again- Shanks also following you gaze.
"Aw, She must have a little crush on Alu" You say with a giggle, Mihawk looking up from his glass at hearing this- his hand still on your lower back to keep you steady from some invisible force.
Shanks whole body seemed to bristle at this voiced notion taking another hard drink of ale.
"No, Vivian is far too... she's-" He stared harder, that's when he saw it. She tucked her own hair behind her ear shyly- he knew that move too damn well it was the one her mother used to do when trying the flirt and a move that lead to Vivians creation paired with other moves much later on.
"Oh Hell No!-" Shanks all but roared. Mihawk smirking into his drink.
This was bound to be entertaining-

Should Have Been Me - CC
Tumblr media
Pairing: Caitlin Clark x Reader
Summary: You and Caitlin are home for a weekend to celebrate her brother's birthday - one thing leads to another and nothing is the same.
Warnings: ANGST - PURE ANGST, read at your own will. I would apologize but that would be a lie...
Word Count: 6.3k
Sweetbans Masterlist
AN: Please don't ask why I did this, I needed the pain. Just let it be. But low-key this is probably one of my favorites that I’ve written. Okay great, thanks!
You and Caitlin are jamming out on the drive home to Des Moines. A few weeks back she mentioned how her younger brother's birthday was coming up and she was planning on making the trip home to be there. She didn't need to ask, knowing you would come.
The two of you grew up together, meeting on the first day of first grade. You two were inseparable. If you weren't at school together, you were at practice or at each other's homes. Your parents accepted when you were girls that they both had two daughters even though she was the only girl among her siblings and you were an only child. You were all essentially one big family.
It came as no surprise to either of them when Caitlin and you told them you were dating in high school. It was a little bit of a hard pill for her parents to swallow but ultimately were supportive of your relationship when they saw how happy you made Caitlin as more than a friend. It wasn't a hard decision when the Hawkeyes came around and scouted both of you out to play college basketball with them. It was both of your dreams, to play college basketball and ultimately make it to the NCAA championship. Eventually to play in the WNBA and that all was coming true right before your eyes. It was the cherry on top that you two were able to do that together on the same team. Not only is your chemistry incredible off the court, but on the court - it's unmatched.
This is your last little getaway before things pick up going into March Madness. Senior year baby and the two of you know you can the team all the way back to the final four.
You pull up to her house and grab your bag from the car. Even though your home was right down the street the two of you planned to spend the Friday night at her house and then head to yours for Saturday night. It works out well as her brother's birthday party is tonight.
Once you get inside, you see her mom going crazy trying to get everything in order before tonight You set your things down and immediately help out wherever she needs. Caitlin does the same but takes some time to catch up with her dad first. Once Cait and her dad jump in, it all comes together.
People begin to arrive and the party comes together. Their home comes to life with friends and family from all over.
Caitlin's mom comes running over to Caitlin and you in a slight panic.
"Caitlin, I need you to go grab Colin from his friends," she says looking at her phone.
"Doesn't he have his car? Why do I need to go grab him? I told Dad that I would help him get the lights up for the party before everyone got here and we are behind." She says getting a little flustered herself.
"His car isn't starting and his friend is out of a car so they have no way of getting here," Caitlin's mom explains.
"I can go get him," you say. "That way you both can stay and finish anything that is needed."
"Oh, you are an angel, sweetheart! Thank you, thank you, thank you," she says while giving you a hug.
"It is no problem, it's my pleasure," you respond and give her a smile. Caitlin gives you a look of gratitude.
Caitlin's mom sends you the address and you give Cait a peck before heading out to grab the boys.
Once you get in your car, you put on your favorite playlist and maps then head out. It was only about a 15-minute drive there. As you are driving, it is just starting to get dark. Your lights turn on automatically as you are driving. You are about 5 minutes out when you are stopped at a light. Once yours turns green, you begin to go and that is when time stops.
*Third person-ish POV*
Caitlin's mom walks over to her and her dad as they are setting up the lights. They are just about finished putting them up - it took a minute to do but they look really good.
"Have you see your little bother yet? I thought they would be back by now," her mom says looking at her phone.
"I am sure they are almost here, Mom," Caitlin says as her arms are holding up the last string of lights for her dad.
"I'm sure you're right," she says as she walks away and goes to tend to the food.
Once the lights are complete, Caitlin goes to look for you. She looks all over the place and can't seem to find you. After about 30 minutes of looking, she finds her mom.
"Hey mom, have you seen (y/n)," she asks, checking her phone to see if there were any messages that she missed.
"I have been trying to call her. Your bother called and asked when we would be there to pick him up," she says and Caitlin begins to get nervous. Looking at the clock, she realizes it has been about an hour since you had left to pick him up and it should have taken you 30 minutes.
Cait gives your phone a ring and it goes straight to voicemail. She begins to look around for your parents, knowing they were here to see if they could get a hold of you. When she finds them, they say they haven't seen her yet.
"Caitlin, can you go get your brother, please? It has been over an hour in and he is still waiting for (y/n)," her mom says, not looking up from her phone. Caitlin grabs her mom's keys and heads out.
As she is driving, she notices there are police detouring cars. Her heart rate begins to pick up. She has to tell herself that it's not you, it couldn't be you. There was no way, you had never been in an accident and you are the best driver she knows. She slows down and makes a slow turn following the detour when she sees it. She sees your car flipped on its side, completely crushed on the driver's side.
She pulls her car over immediately, gets out, and runs to the scene. There is caution tape around the whole area which she completely ignores and runs over to the first ambulance she can see. When she looks inside, she sees a man with a cut on his forehead and arm in a sling. Before she can continue looking, there is a police officer approaching her.
"Ma'am, you can't be over here," he begins to say as he tries to usher you out of the caution-taped area.
"That's my girlfriend's car! I need to find her!" She says as she is in full-blown panic now.
The officer's mannerisms change completely when he hears that the girl in front of him knows who was in the car that was hit.
"Come this way, ma'am," he says in a gentler tone this time.
"No, I need to find (y/n). That is her car, she is here and I need to find her," Caitlin says not seeing the officer's demeanor changing. He grabs her arm and tries to get her to look at him. When she looks at him, he speaks again.
"You should come this way and we can talk," he says slowly, not wanting to spook you. Caitlin goes into a haze. She stops trying to fight the officer and lets him lead her to an easy-up tent that has been set up with lights. He offers her a chair and a bottle of water and sits next to her.
"Would you happen to have contacts for her parents? Someone else we can call to come down and be here with you?" The officer says, still not telling her what happened or where you are.
Caitlin pulls out her phone from her pocket and hands it over to him with your mom's phone number on the screen. Up to this point, no tears had fallen from Caitlin's eyes - if she was feeling anything it was anger. Why wasn't anyone telling her anything? She still had no idea what had happened. The officer passes her phone to another officer and they make the call.
"Can you please tell me what has happened and what's going on? I want to see her, is she okay?" Caitlin begins asking the officer again. She is doing everything in her power to not completely freak out. Her body is numb and she is confused as to where you could be.
"It would be best to wait for her family to be here," the officer begins but is cut off by Caitlin.
"I am her family." She says without hesitation. It was true. Not by blood and not legally, at least not legally yet but between growing up together and the relationship the two of you had been in for the last 6 years, it was only a matter of time before you were married. She had been your family since day one and everyone knew that.
The officer gives her a somber smile and a nod. Giving her a pat on the shoulder as another officer calls him over.
Caitlin sits there and waits, trying to look around at other ambulances to see if she can see you in any of them. If you were hurt, maybe they had already taken you to the hospital and didn't want her to drive in the state she was in.
A few moments pass and Caitlin sees both your parents and hers come running up to the scene. Caitlin stands and immediately hugs her mom. The tears begin to fall the second she is wrapped in safe arms. She still has no idea what is going on but at least now she is not alone.
The officer approaches asking your parents if they are they say they are. He takes them aside and begins explaining what happened. Caitlin breaks away from her mom to look over and see your mom sobbing with your dad trying to hold her as he sheds tears of his own.
"Mom, what happened? They haven't told me anything, I just want to see her," Caitlin says heart beating faster than a race car. Seeing your parents crumble before the officer has her feeling sick. She can't stand still as her foot is tapping and her hands keep playing with either themselves or the bottom of her shirt.
Caitlin's dad nods at her mom as he walks over to your parents and the officer. The officer and her dad both look over to Caitlin and her mom as they turn away. Caitlin sees her dad's shoulder slump and his hand come up to his face. He takes another moment before patting the officer on the shoulder and heading back to where his family is.
He doesn't say anything as he approaches, but rather takes Caitlin in his arms and just holds his daughter.
"Dad," Caitlin begins, hesitant in asking how. The last 45 minutes had felt like an eternity as she had been asking everyone under the sun what had happened. But the way her dad walked over and went to hold her, she no longer wants to know what has happened - she just wants to go back to earlier today when it was you and her against the world on the drive home. She can't seem to find what to ask anymore.
"Baby, I'm so sorry." Is all he says as he holds his baby girl. Something your parents are no longer able to do. Her mom rubs Caitlin's arm.
Caitlin's whole body goes numb, she still doesn't really know what happened but knows enough now to figure out nothing is going to be the same. When it begins to hit her, she feels suffocated by the arms holding her. Her first instinct is to run, to break away from here and run. And that is exactly what she does.
She pushes through her dad's arms and runs. She can hear her parents call for her but she doesn't look back.
She runs for hours finally slowing down when her lungs begin to burn so bad that she is gasping for air. Not that she wanted it - if you weren't with her, what was the point? You had been by her side her whole life and now she was alone. Cait lets out the most primal scream and falls to the ground. She curls up into a ball as the tears begin to fall.
Her mind begins to think of you, to the last moment before you left when you offered to pick up her brother. All she gave you was a little peck - no hug, no I love you. She should have held you and told her she loved you. It is then that it dawns on her, she was the one that was supposed to go. It was Caitlin who was first asked to pick up her brother but she didn't want to leave her dad so you volunteered. It should have been her picking up her brother. Maybe if it was her, things would have turned out differently and you would have still been here. As she is curled up on the side of the street - she feels her body beginning to shut down...
It was the summer before junior year of high school and you and Caitlin were heading home from practice for your club team, Attack. She was driving the two of you back to your house when you mentioned you wanted to stop to get milkshakes. She happily pulled over at your favorite local spot. Once the two of you had gotten your sweet treat, you sat in her car drinking milkshakes and talking about all the possibilities for playing college ball.
"Cait?" You ask as she is finishing her milkshake. She looks up at you. "I love you," you say. Up to this point, the two of you had both told each other you liked each other more than friends and started to explore what that looked like. You would say the two of you had been dating for the past couple of months - keeping it really low-key as you didn't know how the people around you would take it. But there was something about this moment, something about being together and just doing life together that helped you realize she is your everything.
She looks at you slightly shocked.
"You don't need to say it back!" You say, not wanting to pressure her. You just didn't want to go another day without telling her. "I just needed to tell you because, well, I do. I love you, Caitlin Clark."
A goofy little smile makes its way to her face and she pulls you in for a hug. It isn't the most comfortable considering you sitting in a car and have some piece of the center console pushing into your rib cage but you didn't mind.
"I love you," she whispers in your ear as she hugs you.
"Caitlin, sweetie," someone is shaking her arm. "Cait, wake up," they continue to shake her, waking her up.
She looks up, eyes foggy and body in pain. It takes her a few seconds to see it is completely dark and that she is on the side of the road. As she looks around, she realizes she is across the street from your favorite milkshake place. It had closed down a few years back but it was often a place the two of you would go to just sit and talk.
As she sits up, she doesn't remember stopping here. She just remembers running and running until she literally couldn't.
"Caitlin, sweetie," she hears again and looks up. It is your dad who has woken her up, she looks around and it is just him. "We have been looking for you for a while now sweetie."
She just nods. Everything rushed back to her. No one has actually said it to her yet, but she knows. You were gone. Her eyes begin to water again as it is all too much for her to wrap her mind around.
Your dad sits next to her, not ready to make his way back to reality. Sitting there with Cait, has him feeling like you are still here. That you are going to walk up and take them both home and tell them that this was all a dream.
“I don’t know if you remember, but I took you and (y/n) here after your very first basketball practice in elementary school. You both wanted something sweet and I didn’t want to go out of the way on the drive home that I pulled over here in hopes they had something that would satisfy you both. We walked in and they had milkshakes,” he says with a little laugh and sniffle. “(Y/n) had never had a milkshake before but you were so excited and told her it was the best thing in the world. Of course, she believed you, she trusted you with her whole heart and soul and you didn’t disappoint her. That afternoon you two shared a chocolate shake, finished every last drop.”
Caitlin is hugging her legs as tears stream down her face. She doesn’t remember that but it makes it that much more special that this place was your spot.
“Caitlin, has anyone explained what has happened?” He asks hesitantly. He doesn’t want to talk about it but he knows that she deserves to know.
She takes a minute, deciding if she really wants someone to say it. Even though she knows you are gone, for some reason having someone explain what actually happened makes everything that much more real. She finally shakes her head no, not daring to make eye contact. She feels like she would physically fall apart if someone looked into her eyes with any drop of sympathy.
“They said it was fast, that she didn’t feel any pain,” he began, hoping that would provide any ounce of peace to her. “When she was going through the intersection, a drunk driver came and blew through their red light. They impacted the driver's side and she…” he is choked up at this point. It’s not right that a father has to say this about his daughter. “She died upon impact.” He finishes, not sugarcoating it knowing Caitlin also preferred the direct approach.
Caitlin at this point is shaking with pain and anger. Her world has completely flipped due to an idiot making bad decisions. She wants to find the man and bring him all the pain she is feeling but knows that will never bring you back. That’s all she really wants, is you back.
Your dad doesn’t rush Caitlin, he lets her feel everything she needs. If he is honest, he also needs this time. He’s been caring for your mom then went on the hunt with the rest of the family to find Caitlin. He hasn’t had the time to just sit. Not that he really wanted to because that allows the feelings to come in and disrupt peace. How does a dad wrap his mind around losing his baby girl? His only little one.
“I don’t know life without her,” Caitlin speaks for the first time. Her voice is unsteady and broken, desperate. “She’s always been there, I don’t know how to be here without her,” she says as she lets out a cry. She bites her arm to avoid completely losing it. Your dad's hand comes to rub her back and bring her into a hug.
"I know she was your person and you were hers. She will always be a part of you," your dad says trying to calm the broken girl you left behind. "But I also know that she took a part of you and that it is going to take time for you to process and heal."
The two of them sit, not saying much after that. After some time, your dad helps Caitlin into the car, driving her back to her home. On the car ride back, your dad calls Caitlin's dad letting her know that she is with him and they can all head back to their house.
When they arrive, Cait's parents come running out and embrace her in a hug. Her whole body was still numb, her cheeks stained with dried tears. She doesn't have the energy to hug them back, rather just stands there. No thoughts going through her head, she doesn't quite know what to do. How does someone continue living when they are no longer whole?
*One week later*
Caitlin is sitting on her bed, dressed in a simple black dress. Her hair is straightened and her nails are black. They are usually painted white but that just didn’t fit her in the moment. She is mentally preparing to face the crowd of people who are waiting just down the road.
She takes a shaky breath and stands from her bed. She walks up to her dresser and puts on a necklace and bracelet - both were gifts from you. She looks at herself one more time in the mirror. As she is looking at herself, she pictures when the two of you were standing there dressed for a friend’s wedding. It’s almost as if she can see you standing next to her.
She hears a faint knock on her door. She doesn’t respond but the door opens and her mom peaks through.
“Hey baby, are you ready” She asks in a gentle motherly tone. Caitlin just nods. Never in a million years would she picture herself being in this boat.
Cait's dad had already driven over to the church with her brothers. It was going to be Cait and her mom driving there just in case she needed some space to be alone.
As they arrive, there is already a huge crowd of people, all of whom are entering the building. Caitlin's heart rate begins to pick up and she begins to fiddle with the bottom of her dress. Her mom grabs her hand, attempting to calm her. Nothing and no one will ever calm her like you did.
She walks in. There have been countless times Caitlin has imagined walking down this aisle with you but under much different circumstances. Her heart aches at the thought of what could have been.
She takes her seat in the front row between her mom and her dad. As she sits, she makes the mistake of glancing over at your parents. She can tell they are doing everything in their power to keep their composure but she knows they are faking.
The funeral service begins and your dad is the first to go up and speak. Caitlin's mind wanders elsewhere...
It was freshman year of college and the two of you are heading into your Intro to Psych class. The two of you head to the seats you have sat in since day one. In the middle of class, Caitlin feels a weight on her shoulder. When she looks over she sees you - fast sleep on her.
It had been a busy few weeks between double practices and all the homework you two had. Cait knew you had been bending over backwards adjusting and keeping up with all the university required of you.
She leans down and kisses you on the head. You would always say you are an ugly sleeper - granted you had never seen yourself but you could feel it. Caitlin on the other hand would disagree and say you are the cutest when you sleep. She would always say you looked so peaceful, childlike.
Caitlin also knows that you would be pissed if she let you sleep through the lecture. You were the better note-taker and when it would come time to study for the final - Cait wouldn't hear the end of letting you sleep through the review. But on the other hand, your girl knows how little sleep you have been getting, always working on school work or reviewing plays and making sure you were on top of everything.
You let out a little sigh and lean a little further into her - fast asleep. Caitlin lets out a little groan, knowing she would much rather watch you sleep on her than wake you. She slowly begins to move her shoulder, trying to get you to wake up without being startled.
When you don't budge, she leans down and says your name in your ear. You still don't budge.
Finally, she turns a little, trying not to draw attention to the two of you, and moves her arm to squeeze your thigh.
"Babe, you need to wake up," she says, giving your thigh another squeeze.
"Mmmm, don't want to," you mumble and move to take hold of her arm, wrapping your arms around it like it was a pillow.
"Babe, we are still in class." She says with a little laugh - falling a little more in love with you.
This causes you to shoot up, fully alert by her words. You look around and your cheeks redden immediately. Sinking down in your chair - embarrassment filling every ounce of your body.
She hands you your pen back and leans over to kiss your head once again.
"Don't worry babe, you didn't miss much," she says reassuring you.
Caitlin is pulled back to the present - though she much rather stay in the past. The service was ending and there was going to be a time for people to pay their respects to your family. it was being held at your house, Caitlin hasn't been without you - not having the strength to go over to see your parents. Most of the last week was spent in bed, with the exception of when her mom encouraged her to shower.
When she walks into the house, it almost feels foreign. She grew up in this house with you and now it feels unknown. She walks up to your parents. Your mom engulfs her in a hug, mumbling something along the lines of how much she loves her. Cait then steps over to give your dad a hug. The last time she saw him was when he found her on the side of the road. He hugs Caitlin without saying anything until their embrace ends.
"When you are ready, I have something to show you," he says. Caitlin just nods. She isn't ready yet but keeps that in mind.
As Cait makes her way further into the house, her team is standing there. This is the first time seeing anyone outside of your family since that night.
Kate is the first one to come up to Caitlin and pull her into a hug. Kate is crying as she hugs her. When Caitlin is in public settings - she doesn't tend to cry, she does everything in her willpower not to because someone had to stay composed and when you were around, it wasn't you. She hugs Kate back and rubs her back.
All the girls give their condolences and talk about their favorite memories with you. Kate is holding Caitlin's hand, grounding her.
Caitlin stands there, trying to be polite and listen to how much they all loved you and adored you but she was crawling in her skin. None of this still feels right. Somewhere in Caitlin's mind and heart, she is waiting for you to walk through the front door and tell everybody that there is no one to mourn and that she is okay. But that was all just a dream.
Caitlin excuses herself and decides she wants to be alone. She begins walking and before she knows it, she is standing at the door to your room. The door is closed and she doesn't remember this being the destination she was looking for.
Her breath begins to unease itself as her hand comes to the doorknob. She twists it and opens the door, not yet daring to take a step inside. She stands looking around - the all too familiar space feeling empty. A pain builds in her chest as she walks through and makes her way to your dresser.
She looks at all that it holds. Little trinkets that the two of you saw value in, old jewelry, and many pictures of the two of you. Photos of you growing up and in high school. Her fingers run along your face on all of them - tears finally making an appearance on her own.
She then makes her way to your closet - bringing an old high school basketball sweatshirt into her chest. She inhales the scent of it, dampening it with her tears. She puts it on and hugs her arms around her body. She makes her way over to your bed and runs her hands over it, remembering all the times she had spent the night here with you. She lays down and curls up into a ball.
Looking over, she sees an old teddy bear that the two of you had made at Build-a-Bear for one of your anniversaries. She takes hold of the bear and snuggles into it - finally allowing her sobs to release.
Every time she begins to feel better, she gets hit by another truck. This one being the second biggest only to the night it all happened.
After some time, she finally begins to settle down. She sees your dad pass by. Caitlin gets up and runs to the doorway, calling for him.
"Caitlin," he begins, as he slightly peers into your room. "We haven't been in (Y/n's) room since it happened, we haven't had the strength to..." He continues.
"You said you had something you wanted to show me?" She asks, not really sure if she is ready but wants to know.
"Oh yes, wait here, let me grab it," he says and goes to get something from your parent's room. He comes back holding something in his hand.
He passes it to Caitlin. It is a small velvet box. Caitlin's hands begin to shake.
"When you are ready, you can open it. It doesn't have to be now, but I know it belongs to you." He says as there is some confusion written on Caitlin's face. He explains. "This was my mother's, she passed it down to Y/n when she mentioned the two of you started dating. We have been holding onto it but like I said, it's yours." He chokes out the last part and excuses himself.
Caitlin goes to sit on your bed and just stares at the box in her hands.
She slowly opens the box to see the most beautiful diamond ring sitting in it. Tears begin to fall again as she removes it from the box and places it on her finger.
It's your grandmother's wedding ring. Your grandmother had given you her wedding ring for when you were ready to ask Caitlin to marry you. Caitlin looks at the ring on her finger and clutches her hand to her chest - you were going to ask her to be your wife.
As Cait was going to close the box, a little piece of paper caught her eye. She pulls it out and opens the folded piece. She whispers the words on the page.
"Dear Y/n, It is clear to me how much you love Caitlin. I could see it before the two of you started dating, it was only a matter of time. She is your person like your grandfather was to me. I am giving you this ring for when the time is right and you are ready to build a life with her. May you love each other more and more each day, as your grandfather and I did. I love you, sweet girl. - Grams"
Caitlin struggled through the letter but was glad she did. She realized you had been holding on to this ring for the past 5 years.
*Two months later*
Caitlin was back at school and back at practice with the girls. Each girl on the team took turns watching over Caitlin. It was never said but she knew, at no point was she ever alone except to sleep.
Tonight was her first game back and it has been a love-hate relationship getting back on the court. Basketball has always been her love but it was off-putting being on the court without you. The two of you had played together for so long, neither of you had to think when it came to making things happen. Coming back to practice it was like learning a whole new sport.
As the team was in the locker room before the game - they were getting a talk from Coach Bluder before taking the court for the first game of March Madness.
"We are going to go out there and give our everything. There is nothing we are not ready for - each and every one of you has put in the blood, sweat, and tears and we are going to show the world that this is our time." She says getting the team fired up. Her final words bring silence among the group. "As we go out there, we are going out there incomplete. We are missing someone who has changed this team for the better and when we step foot onto that court, we are walking out there in her honor. Y/n will always be a part of this team and as she carried this team as captain before - she still does today."
Caitlin fiddles with the ring that would have wed the two of you and safety pins it to the left side of her sports bra. There was no way she was walking out there without you with her.
The team lines up in silence - ready to go out and honor you. And that is exactly what they did.
Iowa went 91-65, absolutely crushing the first round of March Madness. Your team fought its way back to the Final Four and Caitlin dedicated every game to you.
The night of the Final Four was a battle - UConn put up an amazing fight, but the Hawkeyes came out on top. After the game - it was decided that Caitlin would step into the post-game press conference. Her first one since your passing.
As she sits down, the crowd takes a second to settle, surprised seeing her out there considering she hadn't been in any of the previous ones despite being an all-star in each of them.
The press starts asking questions about the game and how the team was able to pull the win off. Everything was going smoothly until one reporter asked about you.
"Caitlin, there was a loss on your team right earlier in the season - how has that affected the team dynamic?" The reporter asks.
She was expecting someone to ask but even anticipating the question, it took her some time to gather her thoughts. Just as she was about to speak - Kate stepped up and responded for her. Caitlin was extremely thankful and when Kate was done she finally found the words she wanted to say.
"No one on this team has felt the loss of Y/n more than I have. She was my #1 on and off the court," she says beginning to get choked up. "Her absence is felt deeper than anyone can imagine and this team will never be the same without her."
'I will never be the same without her' is what Caitlin wanted to say but couldn't between the tears that began to fall. Kate passed her a towel, which she gladly accepted. She tried so hard to keep it together but it was all still so fresh.
That night, Kate and some of the other girls spent the night at Caitlin's so she wouldn't have to be alone. It had only been a few months but Caitlin was afraid she would never truly heal from you.
*One year later*
Caitlin was living out the dream the two of you talked about so often. She was in the WNBA and was playing for the Indiana Fever. She had an incredible rookie year and was currently at an awards night where she was going to receive the Rookie of the Year award.
The night was going well and it was time for the award presentation. When they announce Caitlin as rookie of the year, she ascends the stage and accepts the award, giving the commissioner a hug before taking her place to make her speech.
"First off, I want to say a huge thank you to my team - if it wasn't for them taking me in like they did, I wouldn't be standing here today. I want to thank my Iowa team who grew me and shaped me. Thank you to my parents and brothers for always pushing me and believing in me and my ability." She looks down at the award and at her hand that wears her ring. "The last thank you I want to give is to Y/n, my wife." She says it knowing the weight it holds but it comes out so naturally.
"I owe my everything to her. She was my supporter from day one and every day after that she wouldn't settle for anything less than my best. Even when I would say I was giving her my all - she would push me past that, strengthening me and showing me who I truly had the potential to become. I stand before you all today because of her love of this sport, and her love of me." Caitlin makes the slightest adjustment to look up, to anyone in the audience it looks like she is looking up at the balcony but all those who knew you, know that she is looking up to you. "Baby, we did it," she says as a single tear rolls down her cheek. "We are living out our dream."
AN: DON'T ASK ME TO APOLOGIZE BECAUSE I WON'T. Please let me know what you think! And as always, thank you for your love and support 🤍
