I would absolutely love to hear literally any random thought you have about Eomer or Boromir.

Hee! What a wonderful Ask! But oh my goodness, this is a little tricky because just thinking of either of those two kind of torches what few brain cells I have left because they're just so... you know. ;)

I do have timeline notes for these two wonderful Men because I'm finally starting my multi-chapter fics for them. However, I don't want to spoil anything, so lemme check what headcanon is spoiler free....

Quick Headcanon: EOMER

Eomer's military career can be summarized as follows:

Ages 12-15 - Served as squire to King Theoden

Age 16 - Accepted as Rider in the Eored of his cousin, Theodred

Age 20 - Given command of his own Eored

Age 26 - Becomes the Third Marshal of the Mark

Eomer is a prodigious soldier, often deemed the greatest Rohirrim since the days of Eorl himself. This is the result of natural (almost supernatural) talents and a fierce dedication to his country. He envisioned himself as serving as a soldier his whole life and never had any political aspirations.

Quick Headcanon: BOROMIR

Book canon states that Boromir had little interest in taking a wife because he was too preoccupied with learning the ways of warfare so he could protect his beloved City. This certainly was true when he was younger, because settling down wasn't a priority in his mind.

But I also headcanon that young Boromir was a "good soldier" a.k.a. good at taking orders. This was part of why Denethor loved him so much; he didn't deviate from "The Plan". Basically The Plan was to inherit the Stewardship and rule Gondor after his father. Oh, and he was going to marry and have kids and continue the prestigious bloodline.

Denethor assigns his sister-in-law, Ivriniel, to find a good match for his son for whenever the right time came.

Good Soldier Boromir says, mindlessly: "Yeah, okay, sure. Whatever, Auntie." He was ready to do as he was told and just let them pick his "perfect" wife for him.

But then he did the unthinkable and fell in love. With a commoner. A commoner with a far-less-than-ideal background.

That's not THE PLAN, Boromir! You're not supposed to have opinions!

And you can bet Lady Ivriniel is gonna make a damn good impression of Lady Catherine de Bourgh when she finds out and it's gonna make for some Austen-ian drama.

SFW alphabet | Eomer

Wow, it’s such an incredible feeling to finally finish something you’ve started so long ago!

Long time no see, dearests! Hope you all are doing great.

No promises and no expectations this time.

Just read, enjoy and feel good.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

At first, Eomer is even ashamed that he fell in love with you, so he tries to avoid any public interactions and even pretends that he is not very happy to see you. However, when your relationship becomes more serious, he builds a completely opposite strategy, trying to protect you from the attacks of envious people. Eomer takes you everywhere with him and with subtle gestures shows others that you are his woman.

B = Body (Their favorite body part of their partner, why? Do they like touch?)

Eomer adores your fingers. In his huge palm, your tender fingers seem so small and fragile. He could break them with one sharp squeeze, he knows it, and this paradox blows his head off. He likes to kiss each finger in turn, feeling your soft skin in front of his rough lips.

C = Courtship (What do they do to take your attention?)

At first, Eomer didn't even want to try to invite you on a date or confess his feelings. After all, he knew that he spent most of his time on military campaigns, and he thought you wouldn't want to wait. However, you began to spend a lot of time together when he was in Edoras, and rumors that you are now together spread faster than Eomer managed to make an official confession.

D = Domestic (Are they the type to settle down with you? Are they willing to help with chores? What is your daily routine with them?)

Yes, Eomer dreams of one day being able to leave the service and you (along with your future children) moving to a calmer and quieter place. However, today he can not accept the fact that you refuse to officially move to the palace and live in its rooms. Because he only feels at home where you two are.

E = Espousal (Do they want to marry you eventually? Who proposes to who?)

He never actually thought about marriage, but the longer your relationship lasts the more he considers proposing to you. It just seems right to Eomer for the two of you to be a lawful husband and wife. And the least in the world he would want to dishonor you or be the cause of gossip.

F = Fragile (How protective are they of you? If they are, how do they show this?)

Eomer is probably the synonym to the word “protective”. He would panic if you cut your finger or accidentally hit something, and he cannot live with thoughts that you can be seriously wounded. The man would be extremely happy if you agreed to stay home and mind your business, but if you don’t he would try to keep you as close as possible to be sure you’re alive and safe.

G = Gifts (What type of gifts do they give their s/o? Do they like receiving gifts?)

He could easily forget about your wedding anniversary, but for no reason would he forget to bring you at least a small bouquet of flowers when returning home from another military campaign. He isn't really aware of whether you wait for something special, but he considers flowers as the best and most universal present.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Eomer does not particularly like to hug. He prefers to kiss the back of your hand (if you're in public), or to kiss your forehead if the situation allows. Usually, he initiates a hug only when you meet after a long separation. His hugs are quite strong, he presses you so close that it becomes difficult for you to breathe. Sometimes he even hides his face in the crook of your neck and exhales noisily, thus tickling your skin.

I = Intimacy (How romantic are they? Do they have problems with intimacy?)

Unexpectedly, but deep in his soul, Eomer is very worried about all sorts of romantic things. He knows that he is not a romantic at all, but he is afraid that he will not be able to satisfy your desires and needs. He learns quickly and never ceases to amaze you with various surprises.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

With a cold head, Eomer realizes that he has no reason to be jealous of anyone, because you were the first to confess your feelings. That is, you chose him among the other men around you. However, a hot heart makes his blood boil every time you talk to other guys or when someone shows a keen interest in you. He never accuses you of being jealous, but sometimes you still have to convince him that he is the only one for you.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

His kisses always seem hasty and nervous, as if he hesitates, as if he is not entirely sure that you will kiss him in return. Therefore, kisses on the lips, he prefers kisses on the forehead. He gently presses his lips to your forehead, and sometimes freezes for a few minutes, gently stroking your shoulders with his strong palms. In return, he loves it when you kiss him on the chin. In fact, because of the difference in height, you just can't reach out to kiss him somewhere else. And it seems infinitely dear to him.

L = Love language (What’s their love language?)

Time. Unfortunately, Eomer has to spend a lot of time on military campaigns, patrols and missions. That's why every minute spent with you is so precious to him. He knows that you also have a lot of work to do, but the fact that you leave all your business when he returns home and devotes all your time to him means much more to him than all possible words.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Eomer is an early bird. He wakes up almost at dawn, because there is a lot of work ahead. At first, according to the old habit, he dressed for the service quite noisily. But several times he caught your dissatisfied and even unhappy look and later tried to be quieter. Later, he even got into the habit of kissing you on the forehead every morning before going to work to the sounds of your unintelligible growl.

N = Nicknames (What do they call you? What do you call them?)

You jokingly call him "My best Rohirrim" or “The strongest man on the Earth” and it always makes him blush. He also tried to create some funny nicknames for you, but he pronounced it with such a serious voice, that everything sounded more cringy than fun. So he just goes with “Flower Lady” or “Dear wife”.

O = Overture (How did everything start?)

You've known each other for a long time, because you both grew up in Edoras, played and quarreled, and had secrets. Then you went to study in another country, and when you came back, you realized that you two have changed a lot. Eomer saw the same. Instead of the simple girl next door, there was now a beautiful independent woman beside him who filled his thoughts and heart more and more, until he could no longer resist his feelings.

P = Pace (Are they fast-paced in a relationship? Or do they like to take things slow?)

The path of your relationship is more like an ECG than a romantic walk. Since Eomer has never been interested in a relationship before, everything that is happening now is new to him. Therefore, he acts in accordance with his own feelings and emotions, which change almost every minute.

Q = Queen/King (Who takes the initiative in relationships?)

Eomer likes to brag that he is the boss in your pair, but in fact he will not take a step without consulting you. Even during quarrels, he is usually the first to apologize, because your sad eyes do not allow him to live in peace and do everyday things until he is convinced that everything is fine between you.

R = Remembrance (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

That special day when you first accompanied him on his way to a military campaign. Eowyn usually played this honorable role, but after your engagement you were given the right to be a woman who goes along with the commander in chief. He felt as happy and proud as ever. Especially since he knew that in a few weeks you would meet him back home as well.

S = Salvage (What issues does this relationship help him to cope with?

Ever since you came into his life, Eomer has felt full, complete. It was as if all the pieces of the puzzle of his life were finally in place. He knew he didn't have much time for personal life, and the fact that you were willing to put up with his constant trips only confirmed his assumption that you were made for each other.

T = Tiny (How are they around children?)

All Eomer knows about children is that they have to have them sooner or later. He is not ready for his children now, but when he thinks about the distant future and perhaps old age, he definitely sees you as the mother of his descendants.

U = Ulterior (What’s their secret?)

He really likes it when you not only braid your hair, but also add flowers. Eomer sometimes likes to go with you on secret walks in the woods to collect wild flowers, which you then weave into your braids.

V = Vulnerable (How long until they can be vulnerable around their s/o? What are they like in this state?)

From the outside, Eomer seemed to you quite carefree, or at least one who quickly releases heavy feelings and can move on. Later you learned that your husband not only keeps everything to himself, but also does not know how to share and talk about his pain. Many nights you heard him wake up and run away from you to the next room to suppress his grief there again in solitude.One night you just silently stopped him, grabbed his arm tightly, and then hugged him just as tightly, showing that he doesn't have to express his feelings in words to get support.

W = Wound (How do they feel about exposing their scars/injuries?)

Scars and wounds are an integral part of his life. Eomer does not perceive them as something special and would be very happy if his partner won’t pay attention to this. However, he likes it when in the morning you gently run his old scars with your fingers to wake him up.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon about your relationship)

Unlike Eowyn, Eomer cooks quite well. Even better than you. He is ashamed of this, because he considers household chores not a man's occupation, but rather - that it doesn’t suit a brave warrior. However, he is ready to step over himself again and again to see your eyes light up again when you eat what he has prepared for you.

Y = Yearning (How well do they cope when their SO isn’t with them?)

He is used to the fact that you often do not see each other for weeks or even months, so he does not feel much sadness. Eomer consoles himself with the thought that your reunion is getting closer every day. However, the closer he gets home, the more nervous he becomes, because he always worries that your feelings may have changed during a long separation.

Z = Zzz (How are nights spent with them?)

The army taught him to sleep at any time and in any position, but also to wake up from any sound. The first night you spent together, Eomer hardly slept, because when you moved in his arms, he was worried that something had happened and had to check if everything was okay. Eventually, the quiet family life relaxed him a little and taught him comfort, so now he sometimes complains that I can't sleep peacefully in a tent without you by his side.

Indeed, Aragorn knows exactly what you mean when you gift him the wooden amulet you crafted over the past few days. He smiles fondly, aware of what this means for you. He’d take it the exact same way as he would a verbal love confession, takes your hands in his and gives you a kiss ♡ He'd also ask you about the exact cultural implications of the symbols you used etc.!

･ﾟ✧ Arwen.

Arwen has been kind to you ever since you started your work as a blacksmith in Rivendell. She is very impressed with your work and you soon start to fall for her. When her favourite bracelet breaks one day, you see your chance to use your newly-learned skills of Elven craftmanship to make her a new one. Though part of you wished she understood your gift’s meaning, Arwen’s unknowing reaction makes you just as happy: she’s beaming with joy and giving you a tight hug!

･ﾟ✧ Boromir.

Boromir spends days wracking his brains about the hand-crafted sheath you made for him. Every time he turns it in his hands, he can feel the energy and affection you poured into his gift. Still, its true meaning stays a mystery to him… until one day, he’d not-so-casually ask you, “It doesn’t carry a deeper meaning, does it?”

･ﾟ✧ Elrond.

The day Elrond finds the artful bookmark you crafted for him on his table, wrapped in a gorgeous leaf, he starts researching your culture. He faintly remembers hearing of love customs from your home region but thinks this couldn’t be possibly true! After a whole day of reading, he’d ask you for a conversation and talks about it to you, always respecting your culture’s habit of not outright stating your feelings. He’d be very understanding.

･ﾟ✧ Éomer.

Éomer is convinced that the little horse figurine you carved out of the most gorgeous walnut wood is a present you gave him out of fascination and respect for Rohirrim culture. While he is happy about the kind gesture, he is entirely oblivious to its meaning. So one day, when you absolutely couldn’t take it anymore, you’d had to take him aside and break your culture’s customs – because otherwise, this man wouldn’t get it!

･ﾟ✧ Éowyn.

While Éowyn may be unaware of your culture’s custom, she does recognise how much gifting her handcrafted objects means to you. So, she soon starts making something for you in return – albeit clumsily – but still you can’t help but swoon! You start to develop a playful gift exchange that Éowyn partakes in so lovingly that in the end, it doesn’t really matter that she didn’t know of your specific custom. Since you get together anyway, you can just tell her afterwards!

･ﾟ✧ Faramir.

Whatever you craft for Faramir, be it a bookmark, a tool, or a piece of jewellery – he’d treasure it religiously. Maybe he’d even build a shrine around it, hidden away in his quarters, where he’d sit down and think of you. Imagine his shock when he learns (possibly through Gandalf) of your gift’s true meaning – the poor man would blush like a sunrise, unable to speak to you for the next few days. He is ashamed of his perceived ignorance toward you and overwhelms you with the most romantic love confession in return!

･ﾟ✧ Frodo.

Frodo would be very casual about the notebook you crafted for him. He uses it as his journal, for flower pressing, and recipes. Everybody keeps asking about the gorgeous binding and covers, and he always redirects everyone to you with great pride. He is glad that your crafting skills finally find recognition in the Shire. However, since you only craft for those you love, you always have to send the other Hobbits away, until one day you admit to Frodo the truth behind your gift, which he takes with great joy.

･ﾟ✧ Galadriel.

Galadriel is convinced that the ring you made for her carries a deeper meaning, she just can’t quite put her finger on it, with you being so mysterious. It intrigues her, since usually everyone is an open book to her. When she asks you anew about your gift, you can’t help but give in to her warm telepathic voice, and confess your feelings to her. She’d light up with joy – “What a wonderful gift! The most precious anyone has to give!”

･ﾟ✧ Gandalf.

For Gandalf, you’d craft a new staff or wand. You don’t expect much when you gift it to him, so his sudden attention comes as a surprise to you: “You said you’ve made this yourself? It is an artful present…” His soft, loving glance would instantly tell you he understood. You share a blissful laugh, before he would deny any knowledge about your culture.

･ﾟ✧ Gimli.

You’d gift Gimli a precious stone or gem you found in the mines, having perfected it into a shape that’s perfect for his collection. When you gift it to him, his reaction puzzles you though: “No gem in this world is more precious than your presence in my life…” He wanted to confess to you too – what impeccable timing!

･ﾟ✧ Haldir.

Haldir is the worst person to make gifts for – while he trains his face not to show it, his confusion is still very much readable to you, now that you know him. The archery gloves you made for him are stored away deep in his travel bag, never to be seen again. It’s not until Aragorn secretly informs him of your region’s customs that Haldir finally understands your gesture – which leaves him even more irritated...! He is considerate enough to say “thank you” at least, with a timid kiss ♡

･ﾟ✧ Legolas.

Legolas would be thrilled that you made him an arrow, not meant for battle but prestigious decoration. The affection and care you poured into your hand-crafted gift do not escape his sharp attention, whenever he touches the glistening arrow and turns it in his hands. Intrigued by these feelings, he starts ‘investigating’ – meaning he teases you about a possible crush. He’d only stop when he sees how important this topic is too you, which is when he finally understands.

･ﾟ✧ Merry.

For Merry, you’d craft a new pipe. He is excited about your gift but oblivious to the deeper meaning behind it. That said, his sharp attention does catch your slight blush when you give it to him. It makes him think – and after days and days of pondering, he starts a courting offensive on his own, until the day you finally get together!

･ﾟ✧ Pippin.

The wood carving you’d gift Pippin is originally meant for decoration, but he carries it around his neck as an amulet. He proudly tells everyone who made it – and knowing how close the two of you are, it doesn’t take a genius to understand your gift’s true meaning. The situation would eventually solve by Pippin telling you, completely confused: “I thought we already were an item?! Of course I love you too!”

･ﾟ✧ Sam.

Out of all the Middle-Earth characters, Sam probably appreciates handcrafting and artisanship the most, being a craftsman himself. His reaction to your wood carving of a sunflower is appropriately flustered: “This must’ve taken quite some time to make, I’d say. Turned out so beautiful, too. Not that I expected anythin’ else from you! You are very skilled in many areas, after all…” His beautiful little speech charms you so much that you end up confessing your love unconventionally! Be it verbally or with a surprise kiss ♡

LOTR characters taking care of an overworked partner

ARAGORN

notices fairly quickly that you’re basically tripping over yourself at one point

is quite good at massages, especially for back and legs, and he will use that ability on you

talks to you about how you feel and why

tries to reassure you there is no need to push yourself so hard all the time

will take you to some serene, beautiful place in nature, but not somewhere far where you’d have to walk a lot

it’s like, such things help him unwind and reset, and he wants to try and help you too in the same way

will hold your hand all the time and kiss the back of it every now and then

sings to you in a low, soothing voice

ÉOMER

takes him just a bit more time to realize you’re not being your usual self

but as soon as he does, he’s basically dragging you to bed

will literally pick you up and just carry you

he will fluff your pillows and tuck you in if you’re cold

can’t cook to save his life, but he will ask someone to make you food and then he will bring it to you

this man is basically at professional at full body massages. yes.

you completely relax and melt under his touch, and he’s more than happy to pamper you in this particular way

tries to braid your hair but eventually fails, which makes you laugh heartily, and then he doesn’t mind failing at it, as long as you’re happy

FARAMIR

picks up on it immediately and persuades you to just go to bed

and of course he will keep you company and do whatever you wish him to

he brings you food and drinks in bed so you don’t even have to get up

if you want to rant about something, he will listen as he runs his fingers through your hair soothingly

if you’re too tired to talk, he understands that too

you cuddle with him as the big spoon!!!

he will read to you as he sits beside you on the bed and either runs one hand through your hair, or he fiddles with your fingers absentmindedly

soft kisses all over your face just before you fall asleep

FRODO

he immediately knows when you’re exhausted and he becomes worried quickly

so he will prepare a picnic in a flowery meadow as fast as he can

with your favorite desserts and fruit

will talk to you about anything and everything to get your mind off of everything you had/have to do

as you ramble on about stuff, he will place little flowers in your hair

you end up making flower crowns together

if you drift off to sleep during one of his stories, he just chuckles to himself

gives you a forehead kiss and lets you take a well-deserved nap

modern lotr character headcanons

characters included: aragorn, boromir, gimli, legolas, pippin, merry, frodo, sam, arwen, eomer, eowyn

summary: random thoughts abt lotr characters if they lived in modern times

a/n: this is literally just silly shit, enjoy

boromir listens to old country (conway twitty, george jones, loretta lynn, etc.) and does not tolerate anyone insulting the opry legends

he also listens to divorced dad rock (hinder, nickelback, theory of a dead man, etc.) which gimli will sometimes jam to as well

gimli lovingly maintains an old-as-dirt bench seat ford truck despite there almost constantly being something wrong with it. ignores legolas’s badgering about him getting something more reliable

obviously legolas drives a hybrid and he almost acts as if this fact makes him better than gimli (not in a dickish way, though)

horse girl aragorn.

frodo is the epitome of shy emo boy with the black skinny jeans & death cab for cutie playing in his air pods

merry is the golden retriever in the “golden retriever in love with the black cat” trope

aragorn and arwen host game nights and various other parties for their friends, but neither of them can cook so they just order delivery (or sam hijacks their kitchen for the hours before)

pippin has a large follower base on social media bc of his drinking songs and other inebriated antics that are usually recorded by whoever happens to be with him that night. usually it’s eowyn & merry, and the three of them will shake some major ass to megan thee stallion

sam goes to open mic nights at local coffee shops to people watch. he will never perform himself, but it’s nice to watch people he knows do their thing

eomer accidentally goes viral on tiktok when eowyn records him doing some dumb shit. never lives it down

the amount of joy gimli gets from going to rage rooms is almost alarming

arwen has a very thorough skin care regimen that she introduces to aragorn, and it becomes a sweet nightly routine for the two of them

eowyn & eomer don’t allow anyone to talk shit about or annoy the other bc that’s their job fuck you very much

frodo has a shitty immune system but sam’s homemade soups seem to always heal from the soul outward

sam is the little spoon favored by the resident neurodivergent

apparently Éomer is skilled enough poet/composer to spontaneously come up with verses in the middle of battle (and presumably he took part in the singing of Rohirrim on the Pelennor fields). it's also stated in ROTK that Dol Amroth has the best harpers of Gondor and it bears thinking that maybe Lothíriel was taught to play a harp as part of her education.

so do you think that Éomer and Lothíriel ever perform music together? 🤔 because I now do.

Can Éomer read???

The text of LOTR suggests the answer is no (Aragorn says in Two Towers that the Rohirrim are strictly an oral tradition society) but, if you’ve seen my latest fic, you know that my personal answer is yes. Here’s why:

Éomer’s grandfather lived in Gondor for years, married a Gondorian woman, and had his children there before returning to Rohan to serve as king. Since Gondor is a highly literate society, I think it’s extremely likely that those children, Théoden and Théodwyn, would have been taught to read and write, and they would have passed that on to their own children, Théodred, Éomer and Éowyn.

I also think it’s highly likely that the ruling family of any large kingdom would put some priority on basic literacy if only for the practicality of communicating across long distances. It would be significantly harder to transmit and receive effective messages to/from your (literate) allies in other lands if every single word and detail of each message had to be memorized and recited back. Heck, it would be much harder even to communicate back and forth with detailed updates and news between Edoras and other parts of Rohan! So reading and writing in Westron for the leadership, at least, seems like an expediency that would probably have been recognized even if the main Rohirric culture remains based on oral traditions only.

All of which is why, in my head canon, Éomer is literate. That doesn’t mean I think he relaxes with a novel on a rainy Saturday or even that he’s an especially *good* reader—I think he knows the fundamentals but he might be tripped up by long or unfamiliar words, and if he read out loud he would still have that kind of hesitant cadence that we hear in younger readers. But he definitely *can* read that battlefield intel report or (much more importantly!) write a sweet love note when needed!

SotWK AU Fancast: Théodred of Rohan

Because @from-the-coffee-shop-in-edoras got me thinking about it and excited over it again, I'm going to drop a fancast reveal for my upcoming Eomer x OC series (spin-off to "Taken").

In the SotWK AU (as the film adaptation plays in my head), Théodred son of Théoden is portrayed by none other than the gorgeous Charlie Hunnam.

Very much looking forward to the opportunity to expand on and give voice to this heroic, intriguing, yet woefully underutilized character! Gonna have to do a lot more research on Rohan and headcanon crafting, though! The labor should be worth it!

Side note/warning: A thousand apologies; this fic will not be a fix-it and he will still keep his canon death. But at least it will shine a light on what an amazing character he was before the tragic loss!

unsolicited headcanon time that would probably make Tolkien roll over in his grave!! No one asked for this and probably no one cares LOL these are just silly lil' headcanons i have that have permeated my interpretations of canon and kinda influence how i interact with said canon / my art of canon :>

A fair amount of the time i headcanon Books!Legolas as trans. I'm not... sure where this headcanon comes from?? I don't even remember having a moment where i was like "I'm gonna headcanon Legolas as trans!" it just occurred to me one day that I was like... Yeah, he's trans okay moving on...

Elrond is autistic . not so much based on canon nor am i implying this is supported by canon/the books but the elrond in my art and definitely the elrond in in Romance in Rivendell is autistic to me :>

Aragorn has General Anxiety Disorder i feel like this IS supported by canon lol the dude spends 99% of his screentime in the books perseverating lol

Pippin has ADHD, again, i feel like this is kinda canon lol

Eomer has dyslexia, and had to have a special tutor come from Gondor to help him learn his letters when he was a boy growing up in Meduseld. Many suggested he just grow up without learning to read cause like, hey, they're in rohan, but Theoden insisted that he learn to read proper. This is actually gonna come up at some point in To Be Loved :)

Like randomly making them art, poems, cooking and baking things for them and generally showing their love through making things for them? For instance, the only way I know how to flirt is by drawing people and showing it to them, and I love cooking and baking things for the people I love! Thank you so so much, happy holidays! Aragorn

Is very familiar with this type of love language. Elves use this type of love language often and being raised by them gave him the opportunity to get used to it and reciprocate the favor.

Absolutely adores the gifts he receives, whether it's art, writing, baked goods etc. He appreciates all of it and will thank his lover with words of affirmation or a kiss if they allow.

Very proud to show off what they made to everyone he can. Boasting about his beloved's skills and kindness.

Faramir

He's so appreciative of the gifts he receives. Always surprised when he gets them, but thankful nonetheless.

He will treasure his gifts and be very protective over them, they have a special place in his room.

No one is allowed to touch them, and if they ask where the gifts are from he will get a bit flustered and tell the person it's none of their business.

Eomer

He can't help but smile when he receives the homemade gifts. He knows how much time and effort goes into things like this and is very thankful.

Has a habit of returning the favor by making gifts of his own, particularly carved wooden figures or even just a bouquet of wildflowers he had picked.

Eomer holds each and every one of the gifts in high regard and proudly displays them around his home.

Frodo

Frodo has received gifts like this his whole life, though it's different when they come from his lover.

He's more appreciative, and it gives him butterflies in his tummy when he receives them. He keeps their gifts in his room, in small trunk under his bed.

He treasures these gifts and would hate to have them broken, or ruined in some way so he keeps them safe. Pulling out the gifts before bed sometimes and smiles as the familiar butterflies come back.

Imagine where your first kiss with LotR characters would be ♡

Thank you for all your positive responses to my first post! I hope you’ll enjoy this one as well, it was a lot of fun to write!

･ﾟ✧ Aragorn.

Aragorn would make your first kiss absolutely romantic. He would take you to a moonlit spot he found in the forest, where you’d listen to a brook and the night birds as he holds your hand. Aragorn kisses you without expecting or demanding anything in return. He is content as long as he can be with you!

･ﾟ✧ Arwen.

Arwen would playfully guide you to her favourite tower in Rivendell by your hand. She’d smile brightly over her shoulder as you ascend the artful staircase to be closer to the night sky. She’d stargaze with you there, maybe show you a book or two about the Elvish constellations that she keeps up there. You would kiss over such a book, or maybe against the white balustrade.

･ﾟ✧ Boromir.

Boromir is well aware of his charms. When it comes to your first kiss, he teases and plays with you. However, once you share a quiet moment in the ruins of Osgiliath, he gives in to your advances. Leaning against a stone column, the usually shameless man grows silent against the comforting touch you provide.

･ﾟ✧ Elrond.

Elrond keeps his house very orderly. He takes it upon himself to sort the library, for example. Since you offered to help him, you have been working all afternoon. “This is the rest,” you’d say with a tired smile and a sigh as you set back the last books. Charmed by your blush of exhaustion in the golden sunlight, Elrond would smooth your hair back and lean in for a thank you kiss.

･ﾟ✧ Éomer.

Éomer would kiss you in the wide grasslands of the Riddermark. Your horseback ride has been interrupted by a sudden storm – the weather here is erratic – forcing you to find shelter in a rock formation. There, Éomer would make sure that you’re alright and dry, and as you’d touch, his heart would skip a beat at your damp hair and puffed lips. Being the man that he is, he’d kiss you passionately then, however offering you to “keep this between us and the rain” should you desire so.

･ﾟ✧ Éowyn.

Éowyn loves the hills and cliffs of Edoras. There, she has a secret hiding spot where she used to play as a kid. Now, she uses it for romantic rendezvous’, as she tells you with a smirk. You joke around a bit: “So, I’m your romantic tryst?” – “Perhaps you are!” – before you both lean in for a playful kiss that soon turns into something more romantic, truly.

･ﾟ✧ Faramir.

If it was up to Faramir, he’d kiss you anywhere – on the market in Minas Tirith, in the forests of Ithilien, or his castle after the Ring War. However, he couldn’t have chosen a better place than you: a flowery meadow where you sat down with drinks and books to tell each other fantastical stories about magic and dragons. While you lie in his arms, all you need to do is look up to find that Faramir wasn’t even reading the book you held up and instead just admired you. And then, cupping his cheek and gently guiding him toward you is just too tempting!

･ﾟ✧ Frodo.

Frodo would kiss you in front of your house in Hobbiton, having accompanied you home after a party at the Green Dragon. He’s a gentleman, so he’d always offer to walk home together. Maybe you’re both a bit tipsy, but either way, you end up leaning against a quiet corner of your house, hidden away in the night shadows, where you share a kiss that Frodo blissfully smiles into.

･ﾟ✧ Galadriel.

Galadriel would know you’d want to kiss her even before you yourself were really aware of it. One day, while sitting by a brook near her abode in Lothlórien, she’d grin at you because she knows very well the reason for your blush. She’d offer you to sit by her side, or maybe even on her lap, and converse with you before brushing your hair out of your face to finally give you that kiss!

･ﾟ✧ Gandalf.

Gandalf would finally kiss you after a long day of studying. You’ve been sitting in Minas Tirith’s library for hours, pondering ancient magic and recent developments. Once you call it a day, he’d look up and smile at you, like he just remembered something. Then he’d wish you goodnight. “But first…” You’d be lying if you said you haven’t seen it coming from a mile away, but of course you let him have his joy anyway!

･ﾟ✧ Gimli.

While usually brash and charming, Gimli is all quiet when it comes to asking you for a kiss while staying in your home. If he was wearing his helmet, he’d take it off, needless to say! You know he meant it to be a chaste forehead kiss, but you like to give your Dwarf a kiss worthy of a song – one that renders him speechless for at least a day. He’d definitely stumble over the doorstep on his way out!

･ﾟ✧ Haldir.

It is needless to say that Haldir would deny any desire to share a kiss with you until the very last second. After protecting the borders of Lothlórien from orcs, he is badly wounded and in dire need of your healing skills. Though he is ashamed of the vulnerability, he cannot help but marvel at your beauty and compassion while you’re immersed in your task. He’d guise the kiss he gives you in the moonlight as a shameful repayment, but by now you can read his marble face so well that you know better!

･ﾟ✧ Legolas.

Legolas would kiss you swiftly and lightly, like sunshine does when you step outside on a summer morning. Out in Mirkwood, he’d swirl around you like a butterfly to keep your fears away. You’d heard stories about the dark forest, but he knows just how to keep your mind off of it. “There,” he’d smile after your kiss, just shakily enough for you to realise he means this seriously after all, “the fear is gone.”

･ﾟ✧ Merry.

Merry would make a pompous scene out of kissing you. He’d announce it loudly, standing on a table in the Green Dragon. He’d get a blast out of your reaction, whether you’re blushing in embarrassment or laughing brightly at his joy. When he does join you by your chair and pecks your flushing face, the crowd cheers you on!

･ﾟ✧ Pippin.

Pippin would kiss you on a festive night. You’d run through the strawberry fields all night, always hunting the colourful fireworks sent by Gandalf from the hills above. After you break down beneath a tree, laughing and exhausted, Pippin would exclaim something like, “I could kiss you right now!” and quickly lean in.

･ﾟ✧ Sam.

Sam keeps a mental list of things he’d like to say to you someday. However, he’s so insecure he doesn’t even dream he’d ever get the chance. But when you’re sitting in the shadows of the sunflower field on a bright summer day, he’d want to seize that opportunity and babble in his adorably timid but sincere manner. But, being embarrassed by his own fumbling, he’d eventually go, “Maybe I oughtta kiss you instead, y’know?” Far be it from you to object!
