Hi, do u have any tips for building a thicker skin and not getting hurt easily? I've only just realized recently that I'm very sensitive, if someone talks a little rudely to me or says something rude to me, I get hurt and anxious. It's so weird because I usually do not care about what other people do or think about me. But I can't handle being treated rudely or criticism. I just have the urge to stop talking, runaway or leave if a person is even a tiny bit rude to me. help.
Hi love! I would say it's all about cultivating emotional resilience. Like any muscle, you need to train your mind to remain calmer under pressure or stressful situations. Here are some ways I think are helpful to build this skillset:
Step into difficult conversations as two people vs. a project/problem/situation. Depersonalize any criticism by objectifying the criticism of a certain behavior, action, etc. Think of it as its own entity – like an object that can float away in the wind.
Internalize that a lot of criticism/rudeness is a form of projection and says more about the other person's inner turmoil than your demeanor or character. Offering non-constructive criticism is self-destructive. Case closed.
Look inward and make it a priority to truly get to know yourself. What are your core values? Desires? Goals? How do you want to present yourself to the world? What are your likes? Dislikes? Fears? Self-knowledge gives you a blueprint of how to move forward.
Reverse your "what ifs." Instead of wondering what could go wrong by leaning into criticism and difficult situations, consider "what's the worst that can happen?" Once you ask yourself and answer this question honestly, you realize that most of the time your fear is disproportional to the likely outcome.
Consider learning to sit/be present in the discomfort to be an act of self-care. You're becoming emotionally stronger and proving to yourself that you can hold your own in any situation. Stick up for yourself but know when to silently bow out for your own sake vs run away due to perceived personal incompetence.
Hope this helps xx

The practice of mindfulness doesn't eliminate challenges; instead, it helps us transcends them to teach us how to deal with them more effectively.

🚨SUPER EXCITING MOMENT ALERT!🚨
I haven’t been able to do a pull up in over 1.5 years.
1.5 years ago I injured my right shoulder picking up a box. A year ago at this time I couldn’t raise my right hand above shoulder height. I had trouble putting a shirt on or reaching behind my back. I all but stopped working out due to severe pain putting any weight or strain on my shoulder at all.
I went though months of physical therapy, some thought I needed surgery but I resisted. Six months ago I still couldn’t raise my hand all the way up and even hanging from a bar was not an option. I felt pretty defeated like I’d never be able use my shoulder the way I once had again…yet I persisted. I felt like giving up many times… and yet I kept working at it.
A few months ago I was able to hang from a pull up bar and lift my feet off the floor with little to no pain. I wanted to try a pull up, put my shoulder didn’t feel ready and my gut said no and not to rush things.
Today I felt ready, I was nervous and not sure I’d be able to pull it off. I decided to record my first attempt for better or worse. Worst case I failed and used it as motivation to keep trying. Best case I succeeded and it served as motivation. Either way I made up my mind that today was the day.
So, after a year and a half I achieved my goal of 1 successful pull up. After feeling like I’d never be able to do one again it certainly felt great. 😎

It's honestly amusing to me at this point when people try to trap me in mind/power games not knowing I escaped and outsmarted my own mother who brainwashed me for 28 years...

Motivation Monday!🤜🤛
Hard work and dedication are amazing tools but mindset MUST come first. Once you set your mind to something you want you can become nearly unstoppable. We get in our own way constantly with our self doubts and insecurities. Second guessing, giving up, succumbing to failure. BUT if you use those hurdles to strengthen your resolve and learn and grow amazing things can happen. It’s never too late. Stop looking at your goals as “One Day” and turn them into “Day One”!
You GOT THIS, BELIEVE IT and ACHIEVE IT!! 🧠💪

People will talk about 'diet culture', 'diet industry' and how we need to 'stop giving food a moral value' and 'stop demonizing food', and while it's true, that food has no 'moral value', it's also true, that some kinds of food are bad for your health in long term. Eating a burger or pizza doesn't make you a bad person (honestly, idk why someone would even think it does?), but if you eat it too often, it will make your body feel worse. And don't forget, that 'processed food industry' also exists, and doesn't care about your health and wellbeing. It's goal is (obviously) to sell you as many of it's products as possible, so this 'eat whatever you want, whenever you want' narrative actually works to it's advantage. Food doesn't have a moral value, but it has a nutritional value and consuming huge amounts of sugar, carbohydrates and artificial flavors can make you feel better emotionally for a moment, but definetely won't make you feel better, both physically and emotionally, in the future.
