POV: You get a voicemail from Bucky while he's away on a mission.
Check out my Etsy store for your own voicemail personalized message or email experience ⋆。‧˚ʚ♡ɞ˚‧。⋆
The day felt longer than usual as I waited for Bucky's call. Today was the day of the week he could use the burner phone. Usually, he tries not to use it too much. But every Friday without missing a beat, a call always came from the same number - at the same time. Every creak of the floorboards or distant sound made me jump, paranoid that any noise would be my ringing phone. I missed him terribly, and the empty space next to me in our apartment only emphasized his absence.
As I anxiously checked my phone for the umpteenth time, it finally lit up with an incoming call. My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly answered, expecting to hear Bucky's voice. To my disappointment, it wasn't him but some telemarketer. Frustration welled up inside me, and I let out a sigh, wondering when I would hear from him.
As the clock ticked closer to the designated hour, my heart raced with anticipation. I clutched my phone in my hand, checking the battery repeatedly. Everything was ready - the charger plugged in, my phone positioned strategically on the table. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves.
The minutes dragged on, and finally, it was time. Bucky had always been punctual, and I knew he would call any moment now. I stared at my phone, willing it to ring. But the minutes turned into an hour, and the room echoed with silence.
Concern gnawed at me as I checked my phone for the umpteenth time. No missed calls, no messages. I tried to shake off the unease, telling myself he might be caught up with the mission. Maybe something came up, and he couldn't call. But deep down, I couldn't shake the worry.
Just as I contemplated calling him, my phone buzzed, and relief washed over me. However, my joy turned to disappointment when I saw it wasn't Bucky calling. Instead, it was a notification that my phone was about to die. Panic set in as I fumbled for the charger, desperately plugging it in. The screen dimmed, and the phone powered off.
Frustration bubbled within me as I waited for it to turn back on. I cursed silently, realizing that I might have missed Bucky's call. I hoped he would understand, but doubt crept in. What if this was the only chance he had to reach out?
Eventually, my phone powered up, and I anxiously checked for missed calls. There it was – a single voicemail from Bucky. I pressed play, and his voice filled the room, warm and reassuring.
A small smile formed on my face, hearing his words. It was as if he was right there with me, despite the physical distance.
The voicemail ended, leaving me with a mix of emotions. I was grateful for his message, but a pang of guilt tugged at me for missing his call. Despite the temporary hiccup, the sound of Bucky's voice reassured me. I replayed the voicemail, savoring every word. As I gazed out the window, I imagined the moment he'd return, embracing him with all the pent-up longing. The wait felt more bearable now, knowing that our reunion was just around the corner.

PLEASE!! I need fics rec for all of these! Especially the Convict. Please be multi Chapter fics.
It even can be Steve in these situations instead of Bucky I don’t mind.
*Photos From Pinterest
I’m currently reading Blood Moon Rising on AO3 by Sarahyellow.
It’s a A/B/O prison story where Bucky’s the convict and pre serum Steve is the prison counselor…I think. A riot breaks out and Bucky takes Steve hostage. 5/8 Chapters are up so far.

Hey idk if you'd do this but bucky barns x reader who has bad period cramps and how he'd help hcs? Xx
Bucky’s Girl on her Period Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
•Bucky is very considerate when it comes to your period, he never wants you to be in pain
•It took you a while to express your discomfort, especially before you two were sexually active, though he can always tell when you’re not feeling well and he tries to help you
•He was almost like a puppy, he knows you’re not feeling well and he tries to bring you things you like, at first he brought you your favorite meal from the place down the street but he would bring it while you were bloated and nauseous which would annoy you, then he would end up worrying that you’re not eating since he knows you, you love to eat…he quickly learned not to say that though as you immediately took it to mean he thought you were fat
•Your mood swings confuse him to no end and right when he thinks he has an understanding of your mood, you’re crying
•He snuggles you whenever you get weepy and it’s his favorite time oddly enough because when you cry you get snuggly and when you get snuggly you get tired and fall asleep on his chest, making him feel like he’s made you feel better, at least enough to rest
•When you finally express why you’re not feeling well it seemingly registers to him all of the times you were clearly uncomfortable but brushed it off
•He does research on the internet that night for hours, learning everything that’s going on with your body (since men in his time weren’t taught about this subject) but also trying to figure out common ways he could help, if not just to make you feel less moody if he couldn’t relieve your pain
•He took some things he learned online too literally so the first time he goes shopping for you he gets way too much, coming home with 6 boxes of tampons (all the correct brand and size which impressed and surprised you), 2 plastic bags full of 15 different kinds of chocolate, and 8 new stuffed animals
•He expressed to you instantly that it doesn’t bother him that you have your period and he can’t believe that there are men in the world that are so uncomfortable with something so natural that they’ve made his Princess feel like she needs to hide it from him lest he be disgusted by you, Fuck that
•He sets to making you feel comfortable right away, getting you your heating pad and setting a nest up on the couch, turning on your favorite movie and snuggling you close, massaging your lower back
•Bucky downloads a period tracking app on his phone and fills in the dates and symptoms he notices and that you express so that he can tell around the time that it’s going to happen; from that moment on he is always prepared for that time of the month, and if he’s not prepared at least he’s never confused when it happens
•He has a secret stash in his closet of a box full of chocolate, he also keeps several boxes of the tampons you prefer to use since you always seem to forget to buy them on time, though whenever you need it he always surprises you by being willing to go to the store and buy them for you if he’s all out
•Bucky was truly stunned at the fact that men wouldn’t go to the store to get tampons for their women, a women that you’re in love with, a women that’s in love with you, a women that is going through something that men will never have to suffer through and they don’t have enough compassion to go get them the only thing they really need? The Sergeant doesn’t consider himself a ‘good man’ in any sense but Bucky doesn’t understand modern men at all
•One thing Bucky noticed is that you seem to be in quite a bit of pain almost every month, and upon asking you explained you have worse cramps than normal women, often being debilitating for you to the point that you can’t stand up straight; it took some time to convince him that you’ve already been to the doctor and that physically your okay, there’s nothing that can be done to fix it, you just have to suffer, he doesn’t appreciate that answer
•Bucky mutes your phone at this time of the month, telling Tony whenever he calls with a request or Fury when he calls with a mission to fuck themselves, his Princess is in pain and he needs to take care of you
•He gets Banner to get you a script for some stronger pain meds for when you desperately need them, not willing to give them to you all the time but at least to be able to sleep at night or have a nap when the pain is really bad
•There is a hall closet full of blankets and pillows for use when he builds you a nest to sleep in so you don’t have to move, Bucky actually finds that he enjoys caring for you, it makes him feel useful and loved when you look up at him with your big beautiful Y/EC eyes and smile at him
•About 6 months after you start dating, Tony clears out and gives you and ‘Your Cyborg’ your own floor in the tower to stay in and Bucky fixes up a whole room with a large nest of your blankets on top of a king sized mattress that sits on the floor in front of a TV, it has an air conditioner, a bathroom full of products and a basket in the edge of your nest that he always keeps stocked with chocolate and snacks; this is mostly so he doesn’t have to keep setting up the ‘nest’ over and over since you enjoy it at all times of the month, and it’s so big your beefy soldier boyfriend can fit into it with you and all of the stuffies he bought you before and after you told him about your period (the fact that Bucky believed the way to make you feel better when you were ‘sick’ was to buy you stuffed animals touches your heart in a special way, he’s the worlds greatest assassin and still your sweet teddy bear)
•You often find yourself getting a massage, either your lower back or even better your crampy tummy, appreciating the relief his inhumanly strong hand brings to you, the massage is often necessary to help you sleep at night and he rubs your stomach until you drift off to sleep at night
•It took a bit of time for the Soldier to allow your flesh to be touched by his vibranium hand however as he realized he was able to use it to help your hot flashes he tried to relax himself enough to allow you to hold it; Bucky now even enjoys watching you wrap your body around his metal arm which never warms up, the metal staying constantly cool which allows you to get some relief from the hot flashes
•For being a man from the 40s Bucky is very sweet and attentive when it comes to your time of the month, he hates seeing you in any kind of pain so seeing you in what is basically unnecessary pain is something he’s strongly driven to relieve for you
•Bucky is the best boyfriend you’ve ever had, never having expected him to be the kind of man comfortable buying feminine hygiene products at the store for you, you appreciate him more than ever and you are damn sure he will not be getting away from you any time soon

I watched a lot of Star Wars content last weeks, (said it, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan, and Andor and The Mandalorian some months ago) and it inspired me to do something related, after seeing some edits of Bucky as a space pirate in tumblr, i thought they would look good in Star Wars aesthetics;
It isn't a 100% as i'd like to, but i think that's a great first attempt, i'll make some changes later, both in the visuals, and the backstory
But, in general, Steve has recently became a Jedi Knight and Bucky is a Mandalorian, we have enemies to lovers/kind of a forbidden love line of story and etc;
hope you like and may the force be with you
My commissions are still open babies, and you can also support me on Ko-fi <3

You Cannot Run From Your Past Finale
Mobster!Simon Ghost Riley X F!Reader
Price didn’t want to think about what could possibly go wrong, knowing that any worst case scenario could happen no matter how prepared they were. Simon hadn’t bothered to take off the ring you’d slipped onto his finger, it felt wrong to take it off. The two of you could worry about what happened next in a few days, as long as he survived. a/:here it is! the big ending! if you did read and enjoy I thank you a ton and hope it met everyone's expectations, i spent a while working on it and it mans a lot warnings:violence, blood, gore, death, character death
Tumblr media
You slept for nearly the entire flight, body resting against Simon’s as he did all he could to comfort and keep you warm.
“We’re going to be landing soon, might want to wake her.” Price gestured to where you’d made yourself comfortable against him.
Simon nodded, gently shaking your shoulder. You huffed into his chest, burrowing closer as your hand slid beneath his sweater.
“Doll, you need to get up, we’re gonna be landing soon.” Simon didn’t want to disturb you at all, but he knew the landing wouldn’t be gentle.
“Mmm, fine.” You pushed yourself up slowly, confused for a brief moment before reality sunk back in.
You were almost in New York to meet with Steve, and possibly Tony if he was willing to make the time. Everyone else seemed tense, nerves starting to set in as the plane began its slow descent to the ground. Everything was going to work out for you, even if you had to resort to going with plan b and putting yourself into danger.
Plan A was getting Tony on board to kill James himself as a way to exact his revenge and live a happier life knowing his parents' murderer was dead. Plan B..well you didn’t want to acknowledge plan b unless you ultimately had to. You hadn’t informed Simon of it at all, the less he knew about your suicide mission the better.
Price sighed softly as the plane came to its final stop, you were officially in New York and now it was time to call Steve and Tony. Simon allowed you to get changed as everyone else grabbed their bags and headed off the plane, keeping an eye to make sure no one tried to sneak a peek. Sending out a quick text you let Steve know you were in town and able to meet up, at least until James was confirmed to be back in town. His only reply was an address, perfect.
“Steve’s ready to meet, let’s go before he changes his mind.” You grabbed Simon’s hands, lacing your fingers together and heading over to the car with everyone else.
Price wasn’t uncomfortable driving to the mysterious address, but given that none of you were really sure if Steve wasn’t about to completely fuck you over? Well it was a valid concern for everyone at the moment. You refused to let your mind wander to any negative place, hoping for all intents and purposes that things would be perfectly fine and you would all go home happy at the end of the day.
“We’re here, better let him know just in case.” Soap stepped out of the car first, heading over to the door while you and Simon did the same.
Gaz and Price were going to keep watch outside until you confirmed it was definitely Steve inside and that it wasn’t a total setup. Simon reached around for the gun slipped into the back of his trousers, watching the door closely as you walked inside.
Steve looked so different from the last time you’d seen him, standing before you was a man that was nearly as tall as your husband, shoulders just as broad. Where had little scrawny Steve Rogers gone? Jesus he could give a model a run for their money, and yet he wanted to live a normal and happy life.
“It’s really you.” You ran over, hugging him tightly as tears slipped down your cheeks.
“Yeah, it’s me hun.” Steve’s hands rubbed along your back slowly, doing his best to help comfort you.
He’d heard about what James had planned to do, how you’d been betrothed to his once best friend before he’d managed to destroy it all. Steve had always seen you as the sister he’d always wanted but never had, and when you were able to flee the country he was glad. James didn’t deserve someone like you, someone to give him the heirs he so desperately wanted. And here you were, a man watching Steve like a hawk ready to strike if needed.
“God, what the hell happened, you got so big.” You laughed as you pulled from his embrace, wiping away your tears as you took in the thick navy sweater he wore.
“Growth spurt hit pretty late to be honest, but James doesn’t even know what I look like anymore so I’m thankful for it.” His hair was longer, a dark beard covering his once smooth cheeks.
“I’m glad you’ve been able to live a good life, if any of us deserved it, it was definitely you.” Steve had done everything he could to make sure his friends were happy, after losing his mother he’d been so lost.
Steve shook his head, chuckling as he pulled you back in once more into a tight embrace. It didn’t matter that you being here meant someone wouldn’t come out alive, but he was thankful. You were clearly in a much better place, the ring on your finger catching his attention for a brief moment, he’d talk to you about that later.
“I was able to get in touch with Tony, and while he said the idea’s batshit crazy, he’s willing to help.” That helped ease your mind, if Tony was willing this would go a lot smoother.
“Good, so we need to wait until James lands back in New York before we can go ahead with the plan.” You glanced over to Simon, emotions were swirling in his eyes, reminding you exactly why you were risking everything.
Price and Gaz walked into the building, shutting the door to keep any wandering eyes from catching on to what was going on. You walked everyone over to the table that was closest, laying down the blueprints of James’ building, going over the plan with your group, and Steve. It would be a no brainer as long as James didn’t become suspicious, if he suspected anything you’d all lose.
“Do you mind if I send these to Tony? He’s better with building layouts than I am, he’ll know where the guards should be if needed.” You didn’t hesitate to let Steve take the reins, it was in your best interest to let the pros handle everything.
Simon kept a hand on your back, wanting to be close to you at all times, the need to protect you tripling from the moment you’d landed. Price could see the way Simon was infatuated with you, knew that one of his best men had found his soulmate. He prayed to a god that had given up on him long ago that he wouldn’t lose any of his men, that they would win this horrific battle. If Tony could do what he was claiming, you wouldn’t be put into any danger at all, but if he couldn’t. Price refused to think about that option, this would work and that was final.
“Tony’s got everything set up, you’ll go to his estate tomorrow claiming you had to flee your husband and make sure that he believes you.” Simon hated the idea of you running into James’ arms, claiming that you’d loved him and only him.
“I know, I’ll have to leave my rings at the hotel before I go, if he sees them he’ll know right away.” You didn’t want to take them off, afraid if you did you’d never see Simon again.
“Let’s head to my house, James hasn’t landed yet so we have a little more time to prepare before he’s back home.” Steve was more nervous having your new group of friends in his home than anything else.
You agreed, reaching back to hold onto Simon’s arm as you all headed out of the building to a place where James wouldn’t find you. You and Simon were stuck together like glue, refusing to leave the other’s side until you were safely inside the Brooklyn brownstone. His house had a warmth that you hadn’t felt in years, enveloping you like a warm hug. The sound of feet pattering towards you suddenly caught your attention.
“Daddy!” A little girl, no older than four, threw herself into Steve’s arms.
Your jaw dropped open, not only did Steve grow into the man before you, he was also a parent! Her crystal blue eyes were nearly identical to Steve’s, her hair a soft corn husk yellow that hung down her shoulders in ringlets.
“Sorry, this is my daughter Sophia, Sophia this is your auntie Y/N.” You couldn’t stop the way your breath caught in your throat, he’d been calling you her auntie?
“Hi!” Sophia wiggled in her fathers hold, a bright smile showing off her teeth.
“Hi sweetheart, it’s nice to finally meet you, this is my husband Simon, he’s your uncle.” You gestured to Simon behind you, the words slipping off your tongue easily.
“Hello!” Sophia was excited by all the sudden new people in her house, there were so many new friends to play with.
Steve was glad she didn’t seem scared of anyone, even if you were all dressed down to look like regular civilians. Would their accents give them away almost right away? Perhaps, but that was a problem for when the big issue was taken care of. He made coffee and tea for everyone, giving Sophia a cup of juice to help keep her busy while everyone talked. You would meet up with Tony in the morning and head over to pay James a visit.
Surely this would all work out and you wouldn’t be in danger for longer than was needed…right?
~~~~~~~
You were terrified, heart racing as you stood outside the ridiculously large skyscraper. James was clearly overcompensating when it came to his business. You’d left your ring with Simon, promising to come back to him safely and put this nightmare behind you. Now, taking a deep breath, you pushed open the glass double doors and headed inside. The receptionist stopped you immediately, refusing to let you onto the elevator until you announced who you were.
“I’m an old friend of James, my names Y/N, he’ll know.” You watched her as she called him, mumbling your name, her eyes suddenly widening in what seemed like horror.
“Yes sir, I’ll send her up right now.” She didn’t say a word as she weakly pointed towards a completely different elevator.
Shit, this wasn’t going how you’d planned, had he had a specific elevator that went directly to his office. You nodded towards the young woman before stepping into the enclosed space, waiting with baited breath as you watched the numbers tick by. You continued to go over the script in your head, it had to be perfect. As the doors ‘dinged’ loudly you stepped off quickly, heading down to where James’ office was. The tears were already running down your cheeks, perfect.
“Sweetheart, what happened?” James feigned concern, you knew he didn’t truly care about how you were feeling at that moment.
“Oh, James, I’m so sorry I ever left, Simon was horrible, he wanted to lock me in that house and force me to become nothing more than a slave. I had to escape before it was too late.” You knew your makeup was ruined, an idea that Steve had brought up.
He pulled you into his embrace, hands stiff as he did what he could to try and comfort you in that moment. You felt sick to your stomach, letting this man put his hands on you after everything he’d said and done. You couldn’t complain though, this was your only chance to finally do what you deemed right.
“I’m so glad you came back home darling, we’ll live a much happier life together, you’ll never go without.” James’ hands slid up your back, calloused hands cradling your jaw.
“Thank you.” You smiled at him, hoping like hell it reached your eyes and didn’t give away your entire plan.
James seemed to believe your words, a small smile pulling up his lips as he leant his forehead gently against yours. You cupped your hands overtop of his own, breathing in the scent of his expensive cologne. The sound of the safety on a gun turning off caught your attention, you had mere seconds to move before Tony would rush into the room. James’ hands tightened as you tried to duck down, eyes filled with rage as Tony stood in the doorway.
You watched in horror, afraid you would be used as a human shield by the man standing before you. As he opened his mouth to argue, blood splattered across your face and chest, James’ eyes rolling back as his body fell to the floor. Tony stood shocked in the doorway, arm resting by his side as he waited to see who the hell had taken James out. Your eyes glanced at the window, a miniscule hole giving you all the information you needed. Simon couldn’t risk Tony freezing up and letting James cause any harm to you, so he took matters into his own hands.
“Shit, hey why don’t you get away from him.” Tony grabbed your arm gently, pulling you away from James’ corpse.
Blood was soaking into the hardwood floor, staining the once light wood a deep crimson. Simon didn’t mind giving Tony all of the credit, as long as he knew you were safe, that was all that mattered. You ran down to the bathroom, desperate to get the blood off your skin and wash away the memories that would surely haunt you for a long time. Tony stood outside the bathroom door, giving you the privacy you so desperately needed.
On the opposite building Simon had deconstructed his sniper, setting the pieces back into their case so he could make his way over to you. Soap could handle dealing with the weapons, it was one of his favorite things to do anyway, you were now his priority. Price tried to stop him, to see if things had worked out but failed as Simon ran by him. For someone of his size Simon was nearly silent as he made his way down the elevator, ignoring the two elderly women that were fawning over his arms. He wondered if you would still love him when he was no longer young and fit, unable to protect his boss anymore.
He wouldn’t admit he had to threaten the receptionist at the front desk, pointing a gun at her head before she called the elevator. Tony was pacing outside, hands shaking as reality sunk in that James was truly dead, he would never hold his parents’ death over his head anymore. Steve would finally be safe to live his life without worry that James would kill his daughter.
“She’s in there, probably waiting to see you anyway.” Tony waved him off, walking towards one of the offices nearby.
You’d managed to get all of the blood off of your skin, unfortunately your clothes were done for and would be stained no matter what. As Simon opened the door and locked eyes with you your heart rate increased tenfold, he was here. You were still alive, eyes shining with unshed tears as you turned to face him. Simon didn’t spare a single second, running over and pulling you into his arms, lips crashing with yours harshly.
You gripped his hair, pulling him tighter to your body to confirm that he truly was in your arms and not a nightmare. His hands slid beneath your shirt, pulling the offending fabric from your body and leaving you bare, save for your bra. Simon pulled from your embrace, pulling off his coat and laying it overtop of your shoulders. You basked in the warmth, breathing in the comforting scent of his cologne and body wash.
“I was so afraid I’d lost you.” Simon rubbed your arms gently, helping warm you up as the adrenaline wore off.
“I’m still here, I promise.” Your eyes met his, promising him a million and one different things.
Outside in the hallway Price met up with Tony, a favor weighing on his mind now that they were finally in the clear.
“Since your man took him out, I believe I owe you?” Tony wasn’t an idiot, knowing that Simon had done what he couldn’t, he owed them his life.
“Could you help one of my men get eloped, today?” It was a tight ask, considering that most marriage licenses’ took a few days to be notarized.
“I..I might have already had it started, I saw the way he looked at her last night. They can go down today and get married if they really wanted to.” Price was floored, he had only been in Tony’s presence for less than a day and was already doing more than most.
He thanked the other man, pushing the bathroom door open slowly to give the two of you time to break apart if needed. What he hadn’t been expecting to see was the way Simon cradled you so delicately, as if you would shatter into a million pieces with one wrong move.
“If you’d like, Tony’s offered to allow you to get married today.” Simon was shocked, after everything he hadn’t expected to hear that of all things.
“You know what? Let’s do it, we already have the rings, and I can’t picture my life with anyone else by my side.” You wanted to put your rings back on right away, but if it meant truly being Simon’s wife, you could wait a little longer.
“Alright, let’s go you two.” Price couldn’t keep the smile off his face.
Maybe it was a whirlwind of emotions, maybe you were rushing into something that could ultimately crash and burn, but there was no one else you’d want to spend the rest of your life with.
Fate is a strange thing - MCU Bucky Barnes fanfic
Tumblr media
!NOTE!: ABO universe/themes, inspiration from MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE franchise, Bucky Barnes x OC (Theo) male character x potentially others
~~~
Theo sighed for the hundredth time that day, they were out in public and Bucky had the balls to expose their relationship by burying that nose of his against Theo’s scent gland, the sun had long since fallen and people scattered back into their homes, but that didn’t mean no one was watching. Theo gives the cheeky Alpha a brief glare while pushing his face away, but Bucky only responds to him with the characteristic ‘charming’ smile, the very same one which usually wooed all the ladies near his person. However, Theo was not only a man, but he was more than used to Bucky’s flirtatious methods and clingy attachment to his person.
And it was all for good reason. Bucky knew since the day he met Theo when they were kids, that this man with the honey golden eyes littered with orange specks (an eye colour unique to Theo alone), with the smell just shy of the typical overbearing sweetness of an Omega, and a heart of gold behind a frankly transparent uncaring attitude- this boy needed to be his in any way that was possible. It didn’t matter that the both of the were men, but it was a difficult secret to hide from the rest of the world.
“Focus.” Theo reminds, snapping Bucky from his lovestruck expression and earning a nod, still adorning that charming smile on the sergeant’s face.
Coming to an abbrupt stop, Theo scrunches his nose a little, a sharp inhale following as a particular scent invaded Theo’s rather sensitive nose, he looked to his partner and gave Bucky a knowing look.
“Let me guess…Steve?” Bucky sighs, the smile finally leaving his face at the thought of the troublesome Alpha-dud. “That guy, I swear.” Bucky grumbles, “Lead the way.”
Theo rolled his eyes at Bucky’s change of attitude, but followed his sensitive Omega nose down a few streets and to the right- into a dark alleyway. Bucky instinctually moved in front of Theo in an attempt to protect him and make him feel secure and safe, but it didn’t have much of an affect when Theo himself was of the same muscle mass, though he appreciated the effort despite being the tallest between the two. Though in saying that, the hidden claiming mark between his shoulder blades throbbed at Bucky’s action in a lower purr.
He’d be able to fight just as well as Bucky, but a small smile still grew on his face at the funny Alpha’s move to protect him. It was a nice thought, Theo supposed.
“You just don’t know when to give up, do you?” An unknown voice chimed, confidence radiating from his words alone. He was no doubt an arrogant drunk Alpha just by the man’s tone, yet alone the disgusting smell of his drunk scent.
“I can do this all day.” Steve mutters, taking another solid hit to the face as the stranger attacks him.
“Hey! Pick on someone your own size.” Bucky voices, standing tall and proud, the embodiment of an Alpha.
The stranger clicks his tongue in aggravation, forgetting Steve in seconds to instead swing his fist toward Bucky. Bucky however, twists the man around skilfully before kicking him to the ground and motioning for the now frightened drunk to leave.
He does so without a moment’s hesitation, earning a low chuckle from Theo.
Theo then quickly approaches Steve’s side in seconds, fingers delicately brushing against Steve’s wounded and bruised face, Theo frowns at the damage, a saddened sigh leaving his lips. Steve glanced away, ashamed of being the cause to the disappointed sigh, much less from his packmates (even if not technically true, Bucky and Theo made it abundantly clear that the dud was stuck with them).
“Sometimes, I think you like getting punched.” Bucky comments, swinging his arm over Steve’s shoulder.
“I had him on the ropes.” Steve states with confidence, holding his head high. Moving away from Steve, Bucky picks up a discarded parchment from the cold and wet concrete of the alley. It was an enlistment form.
“How many times is this?” Bucky questions, raising an eyebrow. He then reads over the paper in his hands, snorting at the information. “Oh, you’re from Paramus now? You know it’s illegal to lie on the enlistment form.” Bucky rambles with a sigh.
“And seriously, Jersey?” Theo adds, a frown on his face.
“You two get your orders?” Steve changes the subject, looking at both their uniforms.
“The one-o-seventh. Sergeant James Barnes and Medical Officer Theo King. Shipping out for England first thing tomorrow.” Bucky chimed with a grin, pulling Theo back to his side, in-between Steve and himself. Steve gave them a tight smile, they looked so perfect and happy, ready to serve their country in war.
“I should be going.” Steve grumbles.
Bucky shakes his head, “Come on, man. It’s our last night! Gotta get you cleaned up.”
“Why? Where are we going?” Steve asks, confusion on his face.
“The future.” Bucky answers, handing Steve a newspaper article, on it is the ad for the World Exposition Of Tomorrow.
“Come on, Stevie. Let’s get you cleaned up back at the nest.” Theo suggested, a rare but charming smile of his own on display for the dud.
..
The ‘nest’ as Theo called it was more like an assortment of blanket’s and pillows on the ground, two thin-cheap mattresses underneath. All Omega’s have a nest, it brings them comfort and security as it’s their most sacred place. It’s where they raise their pups. But for this rag-tag group, it works just fine as a regular bed to sleep in.
Although it smelt mostly of subtle Theo’s Vanilla bean scent, there was still the faint smell of Bucky’s cinnamon as well. Steve often found himself wondering what his own scent would of smelt like if he wasn’t an Alpha-dud. Strong and powerful? Seductive and safe like leather? Or warm and calm, like apple pie?
Dressing Steve up, Bucky didn’t waste time in grabbing the two and dragging them all the way to the Stark Expo. The child-like wonder Bucky had on his face had Theo show that small smile again, Steve however just looked uncomfortable. Most people weren’t as accepting of duds as Theo and Bucky were, to some they smelt rotten and to others it was a curse.
Theo gave the odd Alpha a reassuring smile, placing an arm around his shoulder and pulling the small man to his side. Bucky smiled at the two as he returned from the food vendor with a carton of popcorn.
“Shall we?” Bucky inquired with an excited glint in his eyes as he led the two toward the Expo’s stage.
Music began playing as the stage lights up, an Announcer introduces the show with an unnatural energy in his voice. He seemed a little fed up with introducing the same show over and over.
“Welcome to the Modern Marvels Pavilion and the World of Tomorrow. A greater world. A better world.”
Bouncing on the balls of his feet, Steve felt himself being pushed backwards as the crowd squeezed themselves closer to the stage with excitement and uncaring for those around them. However, without warning the sudden pressure was gone and Theo draped his arms over Steve’s shoulders, looking up at the stage with a similar excitement in his unique almost electric blue orbs.
Steve let out a small breath of relief as Theo shuffled him to stand at the front, sacrificing his own body to be on the receiving end of all the pushes and shoves.
Most would probably just assume Theo was an Alpha anyway, all the mixing of scents made it incredibly hard to identify anyone’s sub-gender- Theo’s unusual body build just made stranger’s have a harder time trying to categorise him. Besides, Theo’s scent was so subtle that it was only if your nose was against his skin, that you could detect that addicting smell identifying him as Omega. Though of course, Bucky was incredibly sensitive to Theo’s smell as his Alpha- a connection Steve would never understand as a dud.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Howard Stark!” A woman cheers, ushering the famous Stark onto the stage. Howard enters with a wide obnoxious smile, kissing the female announcer before pushing her away. Very old-school Alpha.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, what if I told you that in just a few short years, your automobile won’t even have to touch the ground at all.” Howard inquires, and a few female Beta’s wearing velvet blue, red and white American coloured dresses help take the wheels from a car on stage.
“Yes. Thanks, Ladies.” Howard tips his head at the lady helpers, “With Stark robotic reversion technology, you’ll be able to do just that.” He turns on the switch to his machine and the car starts to magically hover off the ground. Everyone is silent and wide-eyed at the display.
“Holy cow.” Bucky murmurs in amazement.
Without warning the mechanisms holding the car in the air start to malfunction and the car falls back onto the stage.
“I did say a few years, didn’t I?” Howard chuckles, the crowd laughs.
“Hey, Steve, what do you say we…” Bucky pauses as he sees the empty space in front of Theo. Theo follows his gaze, a surprised expression on his face as he realises Steve managed to slip from Theo’s arms without him noticing.
Looking around, the two of them push against the flow of the crowd in order to reach the recruitment/ enlisting office, where no doubt Steve had wandered off to. Theo’s keen sense of smell only confirmed their suspicions as they escaped from the large crowd, making it easier to track that almost rotten scent of Steve’s.
With their uniforms still on, Bucky and Theo received a few head nods and smiles as they moved around the recruitment centre with ease. Bucky sighed as he saw Steve standing on the height measurement scale. Standing in front of a mirror but he’s far too short to fill out the body projected.
“Come on.” Bucky ushered, guiding Steve toward the exit of the centre. “You’re kind of missing the point of a pack activity. We were going to go dancing.”
Steve shakes his head, “You two go ahead. I’ll catch up with you.” Steve states, his eyes drifting back to the centre.
“You’re really gonna do this again?” Bucky sighed.
“Well, it’s a fair. I’m gonna try my luck.” Steve shrugs.
“As who?” Bucky lightly snaps, “Steve from Ohio? They’ll catch you. Or worse, they’ll actually take you.” Bucky ends, his voice softening as Steve’s eyes drift to the ground.
“Look, I know you two don’t think I can do this.” Steve states, his quiet voice cracking slightly.
“This isn’t a back alley, Steve.” Theo adds, his eyes sympathetic.
“It war!” Bucky corrects.
“I know it’s a war. You don’t have to tell me.” Steve states.
“Why are you so keen to fight? There are so many important jobs.” Bucky inquires, raising an accusing eyebrow.
“What am I gonna do? Collect scrap metal…” Steve trails off.
“Yes!” Bucky exclaims, throwing his hands in the air. His frustration was beginning to effect the strangers around him as he unknowingly was emitting his scent in strong waves- trying to get Steve to submit to his ideals.
“…in my little red wagon.” Steve finishes his sentence.
“Why not?” Bucky asks, worry in his expression.
“I’m not gonna sit in a factory, Bucky.” Steve mumbles.
“I don’t…” Bucky trails off as Theo gives his shoulder a squeeze, Bucky looks around him, noticing the wary strangers walking around their small pack. He sighs, reaching up to squeeze Theo’s hand in reassurance. Calming him also in the process, his scent thinning out.
“Buck, come on!” Steve pleads, “There are men laying down their lives. I got no right to do any less than them. That’s what you don’t understand. This isn’t about me.” Steve states with strong conviction. A sad smile makes its way onto Theo’s face.
“Right. Cause you got nothing to prove.” Bucky mumbles.
“Come on, Sarge. Aren’t we going dancing?” Theo voices, giving a nod to Steve. Steve’s eyes widen in surprise at Theo’s sudden change of thought, he returns the nod discretely while Bucky looks Theo’s way.
“Yeah, yeah.” Bucky rolls his eyes, “Don't do anything stupid until we get back.” Bucky orders Steve.
Steve grins, “How can I? You’re taking all the stupid with you.”
“You’re a punk.” Bucky states shaking his head, leading himself and Theo away from the centre.
“Jerk.” Steve mutters, “Be careful. Don’t win the war till I get there!” He calls out to them. Theo looks back at Steve, waving him off, Steve rolls his eyes returning to the recruitment centre’s entrance.
“Sounds like they’re playing our song.” Bucky comments with a cheeky smile. Theo hits his shoulder lightly.
“You say that all the time.” Theo retorts, pressing his lips to Bucky’s before the Alpha could respond. Bucky smiled into the kiss, rocking them side-to-side as the music guided his steps. Lost in a little corner of the dancing hall, away from prying eyes.
“You know…” Bucky starts, “I’m beginning to think you’re not on my side anymore.”
Theo hums, allowing the Alpha to finally dig his nose against Theo’s neck and draw in as much of that vanilla scent as the sergeant wanted.
“I’m sorry…” Theo trailed off, “I know it’s a bad idea- it’s just…”
Bucky pulls away, a concerned expression littering his face, “What? What is it?”
Theo shakes his head, “I know it sounds crazy, but- I swore I saw Sarah right besides him.”
Bucky blinks at the unexpected answer before chuckling, “You are crazy.”
Theo scowls playfully, “Careful choosing your next words, Barnes, I’m not above giving you a concussion.”
Bucky hums, hugging the tall Omega even closer to his person, “That must make me even crazier for loving you.”
~
Blinking his eyes sluggishly open, Theo groaned at the throbbing of his skull, trying to rub his forehead which seemed to be the source of his irritation. However, his arms did nothing of the sort- instead it sent Theo into panic as he took in his surroundings. Arm and legs strapped to a metal table, Theo’s memory snapped into place as he remembered the mission his squadron was sent on.
“Awake, I see?” A voice chimed. “You know, I’ve never come across someone an Omega as extraordinary as you. You’re quite the anomaly.”
Theo’s head snapped toward the direction the voice emitted from and he glared at the short Beta speaking to him. “Let me out of here!” Theo hissed, pulling at the restrains tying him down.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that. You’re far too intriguing for me to simply throw away.” The Dr. stated, “For whatever reason, you were born bigger and stronger than the average Omega. Thankfully for me- it means you are far more resistant than all the others. Your body has already accepted the serum-“
“Where’s Bucky?!” Theo interrupted.
The Dr. hummed, “Sergeant Barnes. Your Alpha?” Zola inquired. Theo snarled at the short man.
“If you hurt a hair on his head-“
“I’ll take that as a ‘yes’.” Zola stated, adding to the notebook in his hands.
“Sedate him. Let’s move him to the main lab, there seems to be something else inside him which-“ An explosion goes off, shaking the building and Zola cuts himself short before pressing his lips together. “Get him out of here. Evacuate him now. I need him.”
..
“Did it hurt?” Bucky voices randomly, stumbling behind Steve on his own. Slowly regaining his consciousness, but his focus was mainly on the fact Steve was so damn tall all of a sudden, and smelling like apple pie.
“A little.” Steve shrugged, looking down the hallway and checking the coast.
“Is it permanent?” Bucky asks.
“So far.” Steve answers, motioning for Bucky to follow.
At the sight of Zola, Bucky growls, unable to stop himself as rage filled his person. “Where is he?” He yells.
Zola gives him a crooked smirk, “Alive.” Was all he said.
“Captain America! How Exciting! I’m a great fan of your films. So Dr. Erskine managed it after all. Not exactly an improvement, but still impressive.” Johann rants, head of Hydra.
Steve punches him in the face without hesitation. “You’ve got no idea”
“Haven’t I?” Johann leaps forward, aiming a punch at Steve but the Captain protects himself with his shield. As they fight, Zola pulls a leaver and the catwalk they are standing on retracts to either side, separating them both.
“No matter what lies Erskine told you, you see I was his greatest success!” Johann exclaims, peeling off the skin on his face to reveal that he is the Red Skull.
“You don’t have one of those, do you?” Bucky asks quietly.
“You are deluded, Captain. You pretend to be a simple soldier, but in reality you are just afraid to admit that we have left humanity behind. Unlike you, I embrace it proudly. Without fear!” The Red Skull states, stepping into an elevator with Zola at his side.
Despite Johann’s words, one major difference between them was Steve’s Apple Pie scent. The Red Skull smelt like nothing. He was no longer an Alpha. He indeed, like he said, had left his humanity behind.
“Then how come you’re running?” Steve argues as the elevator door closes. Sighing, the Captain directs Bucky to the stairs, “Come on, let’s go. Up.”
Steve and Bucky find a beam that’d get them to the other side of the Hydra base, toward the way out. If they want to escape, they had no other option but to cross.
“Let’s go. One at a time.” Steve advises, letting Bucky go first. Bucky reaches the other side but the metal beam collapses afterward, leaving Steve stranded.
“Gotta be a rope or something!” Bucky yells to Steve over the sound of the roaring fire of explosions beneath them.
“Just go! Get out of here!” Steve shouts back.
“No! Not without you!” Bucky states, and Steve sprints to the edge, jumping over the chasm of flames.
~
Returning to camp, cheers surrounded the survivors of the one-o-seven. It should be a time to celebrate, and for Steve’s sake it definitely was, but Bucky could only hope he’d be able to return Steve’s smile when he faced him next, despite how fake it would be.
But when Steve did, when Steve turned his head to his side, looking down at the now shorter Alpha- his smile vanished in seconds. Bucky had lost Theo, obviously there was still hope for the Omega. He was alive, Zola had said so himself. But what did that mean? What did that mean for Theo?
Bucky’s expression was dull, he looked like he barely had a will to continue. Bucky’s bright blue eyes, Theo often described them as diamonds- had shattered, they were now a shadowed grey, lifeless.
Steve felt conflicted. As a Alpha-dud, his pack was with Bucky and Theo. Normally he’s consider Theo his Omega as well, but with his sudden development into an Alpha- Steve felt that Peggy was now his Omega, his pack.
Although he never claimed Theo, the Omega’s neck still had Bucky’s bite. They had a connection Steve never understood. They could read each other and speak without words. Even feel each other’s pain to an extent.
Steve didn’t know what to do, Bucky would never return to his previous self unless they found Theo alive and returned to the camp, Steve had heard of stories about Alpha who’d lost their counterpart- none of them ended well.
..
Steve joins Bucky at the bar counter, the background was filled with everyone’s singing of joy. Bucky however looked like death himself, skin pale and with more than his usual stack of alcoholic beverages in front of him.
“See?” Bucky slurred, a smile on his face as he looked at Steve. But it didn’t reach his eyes. “I told you. They’re all idiots.”
“How about you?” Steve asked softly, still not used to acting or behaving like an Alpha. “You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?”
Bucky snorts as he chugs another glass empty. “Hell no. That little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb to run away from a fight. I’m following him.” Bucky stated, leaning heavily against the table top. “But you’re keeping the outfit, right?”
“You know what? It’s kind of growing on me.” Steve replies.
The singing in the bar stops as Peggy rounds the bar in a tight fitting, deep-red dress heading straight toward Steve. Both Steve and Bucky stand up in acknowledgement.
“Captain.” Peggy greets, Bucky sniffles his nose at her scent. After bonding with Theo, all the other Omega’s smelt too sweet or not sweet enough.
“Agent Carter.” Steve responds with a small smile.
“Ma’am.” Bucky nods.
“Howard has some equipment for you to try. Tomorrow morning?” Peggy suggests.
“Sounds good.” Steve agrees.
“I see your top squad is prepping for duty.” Peggy comments, looking over briefly at the drunk group of men singing to their hearts content. She frowns a little.
“You don’t like music?” Bucky voices.
“I do, actually. I might even when this is all over, go dancing.” She shrugs.
“Then what are you waiting for?” Bucky snorts turning back to face the bar.
“The right partner.” Carter answers without hesitation. “0800, Captain.”
“Yes, ma’am. I’ll be there.” Steve nods, waving goodbye as the agent walked off. Bucky grumbled under his breath as the agent left.
“We’re not going to give up, Buck. We’ll find him.” Steve promised
~
“You are failing!” The Red Skull screamed in Zola’s face, his expression was of nothing but pure rage. Practically roaring at the scientist with unhinged emotion.
Captain America and the Howling Commando’s had destroyed many of Hydra’s bases. Fuelled by winning the war and finding their lost Omega friend.
“We are close to an offensive network that will shake the plant. And yet we are continually delayed, because you cannot outwit a simpleton with a shield!” Red Skull growls. And Zola’s short stature shrunk even further at the intimidating and threatening stance the Red skull was loaming over him with.
“This is hardly my area of expertise. I… I merely develop the weapons. I… I cannot fire them.” Zola explains quickly, looking for any excuse to save his life and the continuation of his beloved work/ experimentations.
“And your experiment, Doctor? What of the Omega?” Johann asks.
“It will take more time. But I believe he’ll be a great asset.” Zola assures. “I haven’t an answer yet, but his blood has fused with some sort of power source, something that he looks to have been born with. I believe I can harness that power, given more time. Something is obstructing its full release and capabilities-”
Johann interrupts with a sigh, “Finish your mission, Doctor. Before the American finishes his. And make sure your little experiment is safe from his hands. Move the Omega to our more… secluded bases of operation.”
“Yes, sir.” Zola bows, glee in his eyes at the thought of his most upcoming experiment.

1953.
“Wake him.” The head doctor and scientist of Hydra orders, “The soldier’s having another fit.”
A low hissing noise fills the room as the ice-cold chamber melts in seconds, releasing a wave of steam into the room which blinded the group of anxious scientists for mere moments before exposing the resting form waiting within.
“Asset?” The doctor calls, standing a clear distance from the cylinder.
Not a second later and a black combat boot slams onto the ground, hands at the edge of the cyro-freezing chamber for support.
“Ready to comply.” The monotone voice of Theo whisks into the air, sending shivers down the doctor’s spines, Alpha or not- He was intimidating, that was a fact. The Alpha’s in the room stared at him wide-eyed, he was not the typical Omega at all. There was no doubt in their minds why he was paired with the Winter Soldier.
He was tall for an Omega; taller than most Beta’s and even Alpha’s- his height grew more as the serum began it’s work. Moving him from barely 5’10, to 6 foot. His body was fit, muscles spread across his entire body from years of training and discipline.
A quite apparent/obvious change in the Omega however was his hair, what was once midnight black strands of hair are now as white as freshly fallen snow. His electric honey golden eyes now a unnaturally glowing orange.
A blood red tattoo was branded onto the side of his neck, the symbol Hydra had also printed onto the Soldier’s metal arm. On the Asset’s neck was the recognisable red star of their cause, large and covering the majority of skin like a virus.
The head scientist nodded to the few soldiers’ in the room, and they wordlessly pulled Theo’s arms in front him and placed reinforced cuffs around his wrists. Without warning the shoved him forward, he stumbled just very slightly, easily able to catch himself and shift to walking in any direction they wished for him to go.
The walk was mostly a silent one, but everyone was rigid and tense with anticipation. While the Omega was restrained, he could, if he so wished, overpower many of the soldiers escorting him- even with the inhibitors restricting that uncontrolled power of his. Something which years ago, the Red Skull was becoming obsessed in finding the true source of.
Opening the door, random to the many lining the hallway, there inside was an empty confined room, the Asset was directed to a chair. Which he obediently took a seat upon, and as instructed- he simply waited. The mixture of doctor’s, scientist’s and soldiers hurriedly left the room, and Theo was left with his arms still stuck together in front of him by those specialised cuffs as the room delved into a darkness at the slamming of the cell door.
But he didn’t have to wait very long before loud shouts, orders and shuffled movement filled the end of the hall before approaching closer and closer with the sound of a struggle, then a body was thrown into the room, tossed harshly to the concrete before Theo’s feet as the door slamming after this stranger.
The man looked wild, his eyes flickering all over the place and his hair matted due to lack of grooming. His eyes pierced Theo’s causing his body to freeze in alert, but at the simple smell of Theo’s scent, the Soldier approached the cuffed Omega more confidently- more needy.
The soldier buried his nose to the Omega’s neck, finding the vanilla scent addictive, familiar and safe, despite missing all the memories associated with this person. The Asset’s eyes remained staring ahead, unfocused and dull like a robot. His posture was slumped and mouldable as the Soldier roughly pushed his head to the side, trying to gain as much access as possible to the gland before biting down on it.
Orange orbs narrowed at the pain and flickered over to meet the Alpha’s, earning a low growl from him. The soldier was animalistic, practically drooling as he sucked desperately at the taste of vanilla, it acted as a sort of medicine and calming agent.
The serum had increased the Soldier’s height as well, from 5’10 to 6 foot 2. His build overall was a lot bigger and more combat ready than the Asset’s muscular but lean one. Even with the enhancement of his body, Theo’s Omega genes still made his bones more brittle, light and fragile- physically stronger than an average Alpha but weaker than someone like the Soldier, especially when the Alpha had the aid of a vibranium man.
The Soldier’s metal fingers tightened their hold on Theo’s head of white hair, warning the Omega to back down; Theo reluctantly shifted his gaze back to the wall behind the Alpha.
Pulling at the Asset’s like a rag doll, the Soldier knocked over the wooden chair and dragged the Omega onto the concrete floor before shifting his body over Theo’s, trapping him to the ground.
The Asset couldn’t do anything to move, his hands were restrained and his legs were stuck on either side of the Alpha’s waist, he couldn’t kick the Soldier even if he wanted to. A low purring-like sound left the Alpha’s lips as he rested his ear against Theo’s chest, listening to the relaxing sound of the Omega’s steady and slow heartbeat.
He was stuck there for an hour before the Hydra soldiers waiting outside deemed it safe enough to quickly shoot a sedative at the Winter Soldier and remove the Alpha from the cell and back to his cyro-chamber.
Men rushed into the room upon noting the Soldier had been lured into deep and rare rest, most likely he’d be dragged first to the brainwashing chair the Asset knew all too well.
Theo was then hauled to his feet and ushered back into the Doctors lab. He was told to lie against the metal table, and without hesitation, Theo did as told. Robotically slipping onto the table and allowing his cuffs to be removed cautiously, before immediately being replaced with the inbuilt restraints into the table itself.
All precautionary, as Theo would guess he’d lashed out in the past, though he couldn’t recall ever doing so thanks to that memory-wiping chair.
The Doctor shuffled through his notebook and lab report before addressing the additional staff, they carefully cut away at the replaceable Hydra uniform Theo was wearing. Pulling the thin shirt from his body, the staff examined the long cut running down the lower half of Theo’s stomach.
“Good. No issues with healing the incision.” The head doctor commented. “Asset. We have a mission for you.”

2014.
The white-haired assassin fiddled with the familiar cuffs around his wrists, flexing his hands open and closed mindlessly. The Hydra agents seated around in in the van watched him warily as he become more impatient. Theo’s orange orbs flickering lowly around the van as it drove at high speeds, dodging and weaving traffic at the command for reinforcement, Theo was careful not to meet anyone’s eyes, that’d only result in punishment for displaying rebellious tendencies.
Skidding to a very fast stop, one of the many Hydra agents wearing a fake SWAT uniform comes to stand in front of the Asset, he fumbles hurriedly with a small electronic key before unlocking the assassin’s cuffs with a quick scan. The inhibitors were deactivated.
The Asset stands without hesitation and follows the agents out of the back of the van as it’s doors are kicked open, his mask was locked tightly into place and couldn’t be taken off without a similar mechanism to the electronic key that had previously been used by that Hydra agent earlier. It kept the Asset’s identity hidden from people that could identify him as Theo King. But it’s true use was as a muzzle, keeping the Asset from lashing out when they tested on him. Keeping his mouth shut until they wanted otherwise.
Marching up to the black government issued SUV, reinforced no doubt as it was littered with unsuccessful shots at the windows. Nick Fury glanced out the window in fright as the Asset’s form marched closer to his window, quickly he slid over to the passenger’s seat. He was expecting a battering ram. Not some juiced up mercenary with hauntingly orange glowing eyes.
The Assassin pulled his fist back-
“Warning! Window integrity compromised.” Fury’s car system warned, red lights flashing all over the place.
Theo’s forearm erupted into black flame and smoke, which soon died to reveal blackened skin and claw-like nails- it was something demonic looking for sure.
The window shatters as a fist meets it, but it doesn’t brake. Fury looks at the white-haired male with surprise and horror. He had no idea of what he was. But he needed to know who he was. No normal human could smash a reinforced SHEILD SUV with just their fists.
“You think?” Fury panic’s, “How long to propulsion?” He inquires the AI.
“Calculating-“ Another hit to the window, “Window integrity thirty-one percent. Deploying countermeasures-“
“Hold that order!” Fury quickly interrupts. Another hit to the window.
“Window integrity nineteen percent. Offensive measures advised-“
“Wait!” Fury growls. Another hit.
“Window integrity one percent.”
“Now!” Fury orders and without delay a small mini-gun pulls up from the inside of the car and Fury wastes no time using it to return fire on the mercenaries.
The Asset shields his face with his arms. Bullets ripped through the skin on his arms, but never got past the bulletproof armour he had covering his chest. The force of the attack sent him to the ground and by the time the bullets were pushed from his arms as his skin healed- the target was racing away in his car.
“Target on the move.” One of the surviving agents said, speaking into the device on his wrist. “Moving Asset to the Soldier’s location.”
The agent waved over a passing Hydra van, and the Asset took himself a seat. Skin regaining it’s naturally pale tone, it revealed Theo’s arms coated in blood, but incredibly the wounds were already halfway through its healing process.
When the van came to its stop, the doors were opened and Theo jumped from the vehicle, landing effortlessly on the road just as the Soldier detonated the remote explosive he’d shot underneath the target’s SUV.
Fury’s vision was blurry as he recomposed himself, he glanced at his attackers, eyes wide at the new masked threat. And he was shocked to see the white-haired male still alive at all and without indicating pain or injury.
Unclipping his pistol from his belt, the Asset stayed back while the Soldier approached the vehicle, ready for any surprise escape attempts on foot.
Trapped inside his upside down car, Fury watches as the mysterious new threat walked slowly toward him, reloading his gun as he did so. Fury however manages to escape just in time by using a pencil-sized laser to burn open a sewage entrance.
The Soldier rips the damaged door off its hinges with his metal arm, there is however no one inside, prompting him to clip his weapon back into place and return to the Asset’s side as they waited for a pick up.
Not a second later and the same van Theo was on previously pulled up to a stop and the back doors swung open for both of them.
The Asset was promptly ushered back into the van, the Soldier pushing him forward with a hand at the back of his neck. The Asset glared back at the Soldier and his small display of dominance. Entering the van and taking a seat, Theo’s hands were quickly cuffed once more (inhibitors activated) before returning to base.
Mission was a failure.
~
At his home Alexander Pierce goes to his kitchen, and opens his fridge to pull out a carton of milk. He pauses as he sees the Winter Soldier seated at his table, just barely visible within the shadows, a gun however was very visible as the light shined and reflected off of it, the Soldier pulls it out as Pierce’s Housekeeper calls out to him from the other side of the wall.
“I’m going to go, Mr. Pierce. You need anything before I leave?” She calls out.
“No. Uh…” Pierce pauses as from behind the Solder, and Theo comes into view. “…it’s fine, Renata, you can go home.” He replies.
“Okay, night-night.” She calls in farewell.
“Good night.” Pierce responds, his eyes never leaving the two in front of him. “Want some milk?” He offers as Renata closes the door behind her. The Soldier doesn’t reply, and Pierce certainly doesn’t expect the Asset to either. His mask-like muzzle restricted him physically from saying a word.
“The timetable has moved. Our window is limited. Two targets, Level Six” Piece picks up his glass of milk and joins the Soldier at the table. He stills slightly as he sniffs the air, “Seems like your suppressants are fading, Omega.” Pierce hums, a smile on his face as he shifts his gaze to the Asset. Pierce could feel his inner Alpha groan at the smell and he'll admit that he had a struggle to remain composed in front of the two assassin’s. Theo’s sweet scent of vanilla bean, typically you’d never think to use suppressants on an Omega. It can become incredibly damaging to the body. But it didn’t take long for Doctor’s and Hydra agents alike to realise the serum had altered the smell of his scent.
Zola theorised that because Theo’s body had been changed further, more masculine and Alpha, overall less Omega- his hormones were trying to counteract the imbalance by making his scent more potent. It got to the point where Hydra had no choice but to place the Omega on suppressants in order to stop other Alpha’s from trying to breed with him.
Technically his scent shouldn’t even be as strong as a normal Omega, because he bonded with Bucky. He has an Alpha, so his body no longer has the need to try ‘seduce’ other Alpha’s.
Yet something in the serum made his inner Omega feel un-bonded, the scent was a problem even for mated/ bonded Alpha’s whom should be repulsed by the smell of another Omega- yet this again was not the case.
While on suppressants, only the Soldier was able to still smell Theo’s scent. And that again, was just because they were bonded. Hydra used it to their advantage of course, when either the Asset or Soldier became unstable- it was a simple as putting the two together in the same space.
Swallowing his mouthful of milk, Pierce continued, “They already cost me Zola. I want a confirmed death in ten hours-“ Renata (the housekeeper) walks back into the room, cutting Pierce off.
“Sorry, Mr. Pierce, I… I forgot my phone.” She stammers noticing the two figures in the dark.
Pierce clicks his tongue in annoyance, “Oh, Renata. I wish you would have knocked.” He grumbles, picking up the gun the Winter Soldier had placed on the table and shooting at her without hesitation, killing her in seconds with an experience shot centre of her head.
“Get him some suppressants immediately and be on your way.” Pierce orders the Soldier, Winter nods his head, standing up and disappearing without a trace, Theo following his example.
Reaching HQ, the Hydra agents had a hard time separating the Soldier from the Asset, Winter was snarling, growling and snapping at those that got too close. Theo kept his gaze to the ground, letting the agents drag the Soldier away, much to Theo’s regret as every instinct in his body is screaming at him to stay by the Soldier’s side.
The Asset returned to the Lab, his usual destination within Hydra as the Doctor injects a large dose of suppressants, distributing the shots around Theo’s body. Before examining his body once over before the mission early tomorrow morning.
~
Inside a bank vault, many Hydra agents move around the chair the Soldier is confined to, fixing his broken arm. The Soldier looks in front of him, eyes blank, mind empty.
“Sir, he’s… he’s unstable. Erratic.” A Hydra scientist warns Pierce as he storms into the bank vault. Rumlow is by his side as they make their way in front of the dazed Winter Soldier.
“Mission report.” Pierce demands. “Mission report, now.” He repeats, a frustrated sigh leaves mouth as the Soldier remains stubbornly silent. Something was obviously plaguing the weapon.
“Where’s the Omega?” Pierce growls, eyes looking around him and daring someone to speak.
“The Asset is still under- it takes time for his body to adjust to the suppressants.” One of the scientists answer.
Pierce growls at the answer, it meant harder control over the Soldier when he became like this.
“The man on the bridge… Who was he?” The Soldier voices, catching Pierce’s attention.
“You met him earlier this week on another assignment.” Pierce answers quickly.
“I knew him.” Winter mumbles.
“Your work has been a gift to mankind. You shaped the century, and I need you to do it one more time. Society is at a tipping point between order and chaos. Tomorrow morning we’re gonna give it a push. But, if you don’t do your part, I can’t do mine, and Hydra can’t give the world the freedom it deserves.” Pierce states, like reading a script said a thousand times previously.
“But I knew him.” The soldier pushed.
“Prep him.” Pierce orders.
“He’s been out of cryo-freeze too long.” A scientist voices.
“Then wipe him and start over.” Pierce hisses, “And while you’re at it, keep the Omega under and send him to Siberia. The Soldier will follow after the mission.” Pierce states.

2016.
Bucky groaned as his eyes open and he regained consciousness, blinking sluggishly for his vision to focus before realising his metal arm was trapped in a huge vice. He tugged at the restraint but his arm didn’t move an inch. Eyes flickering about the place, he concluded quickly that he’d been brought to a warehouse of some kind- Bucky flinched as a helicopter flew overhead, and worry filled him at the thought of being caught yet again.
But then his attention was brought elsewhere when he heard shuffling steps, and in his line of vision was Sam Wilson, leaning against a pillar.
“Hey, Cap!” Sam called out, the raise in volume had Bucky subtly duck down instinctually to hide, were they trying to be caught?
Steve no sooner rounded the corner past Sam and eyed Bucky cautiously as he approached.
“Steve.” Bucky recalled in an exhausted drawl.
Steve clenched his jaw, “Which Bucky am I talking to?”
Bucky paused, face displaying a blank expression as he realised he did remember, or he remembered more than he did before, in fact he remembered that-
“Your mom’s name is Sarah.” Bucky blurted, before chuckling at another memory, “You used to wear newspapers in your shoes…”
Steve almost smiled, “You can’t read that in a museum.”
“And just like that we’re supposed to be cool?” Sam huffed, narrowing his eyes at Bucky but directing the question to Steve.
Bucky frowned, “What did I do?”
“Enough.” Steve stated.
Bucky sighed, lowing his gaze further, “I knew this would happen... Everything Hydra put inside of me is still there. All he had to do was say the goddamn words.”
“Who was he?” Steve inquired.
“I don’t know.” Bucky admitted.
Steve shook his head, “People are dead- the bombing, the set-up- the doctor did all that just to get 10 minutes with you. I need you to do better than ‘I don’t know’.”
Bucky frowned, looking at his feet as he racked through his muddled memory for an answer that would be of actual help, and like a switch he begun remembering.
“He wanted to know about Siberia… Where I was kept. He wanted to know exactly where…” Bucky trailed off, just as confused as the Steve and Sam were.
“Why would he need to know that?” Steve pushed.
Bucky instantly slumped at the answer which came into his head, “Because I’m not the only Winter Soldier.”
Steve and Sam followed Bucky’s action and slumped their shoulders in mild defeat at such an undesirable response, containing Bucky had been difficult on its own- for there to be more…
“Who were they?” Steve eventually asked, taking Sam’s approach to lean against one of the warehouse pillars.
“The most elite death squad, more kills than anyone in Hydra history, and that was before the serum.” Bucky spilled robotically, the information drilled into the depth of his brain.
“They all turn out like you?” Sam voiced.
“Worse.” Bucky whispered, but was still heard.
“The doctor, could he control them?” Steve questioned.
“Enough.”
“(The doctor) Said he wanted to see an empire fall.” Steve quoted.
“With these guys he could do it. They speak 30 languages, can hide in plain sight, infiltrate, assassinate, destabilise- they can take a whole country down in one night and you’d never see them coming.” Bucky spoke in a monotone, cringing at the information popping up into his head as he spoke.
Sam ushered Steve closer to him for a private conversation, Bucky wasn’t bothered to listen to them, more so his head was flashing quickly with random memories that didn’t seem to be in any order, it wasn’t until one in particular enter his head that Bucky jolted at his instincts flaring to life, he still had an Omega to find.
~
Theo awoke with a sharp gasp of air, as pain radiated from his chest, he reached quickly to place pressure upon the wound, a gunshot through-
“You know, you should be dead.” Someone drawled in an exhausted tone. “That went right through your heart.”
Theo’s eyes flashed to the source, seeing an familiar face looking right back at him, someone he’d seen and read about in Hydra files, but had yet to ever meet in person (in a likely assassination). Eyes drifting to the environment around them, Theo concluded that the Hydra base was no longer in function, a sigh of relief almost left his lips as he spotted the dead bodies still within their cryo-chambers, that elite death squad scared him- the stories of their strength even against someone like his Alpha, the Winter Soldier.
“Hey-“ Theo’s eyes darted back to the wounded man, “What’s your name?”
“I’m the Asset.” Theo responded cautiously in a low robotic tone as he pushed himself out of his own cryo-chamber, landing with stumbling unsteady feet thanks to that blood-loss.
“You’re Hydra.” The stranger realised, “You look so young…”
Theo said nothing to the man, deciding instead to stumble in the direction of the other cryo-chambers around the corner, needing to confirm they were permanently gone to the world.
“They’re dead.”
“I know.” Theo responds, eyes lingering over the bodies without glowing orange souls.
“Hydra’s gone, kid.” The man shares, “They’ve been gone a while.”
“Did the Soldier survive?” Theo asks.
Tony Stark goes rigid at the question, rage fuels him quickly before leaving just as fast- “I’m not sure.”
Theo nods with a sigh that caught Tony off guard, “Why?” He blurted, curiosity getting the better of him.
Theo frowns, crossing his arms tightly to his chest, “That’s my Alpha.”
Tony was shocked, “You’re Omega?”
“Yes.” Theo confirmed.
Tony clears his throat, pushing away the many questions swarming in his head, “What’re you going to do now?”
Theo thought about the question, knowing that the Stark was only asking to make sure Theo didn’t intend on continuing Hydra’s legacy, Theo didn’t have much to say, he didn’t even know where to start- his only memories were of Hydra and nothing but.
“I don’t know.” Theo admitted, the Winter Soldier needed him more than Theo needed to see the Soldier, Alpha’s relied on Omega once bonded- whereas Theo could last a lifetime without his Alpha- especially considering he didn’t have any feelings for the brute, or at least, none that he remembered.
Tony bit his lip in thought, “Do you know where they kept their research files? I might be able to find more on you that way…”
Theo hesitated before nodding and guiding the limping billionaire through the facility.
“You are a lot less hostile than, Barnes.” Tony commented, spotting Theo’s confused expression he corrected himself, “Sorry, the Soldier I mean.”
Theo eyed the man before continuing down a narrow hallway.
“Just as quiet though.” Tony sighed.
Tony frowned, “Why haven’t you killed me?”
“I haven’t been assigned a mission or given orders.” Theo stated, “And you do not pose any threat to me.”
Tony scrunched his face up in offense, but silently agreed with the Hydra weapon whom he just now noticed, was no longer clutching at the bullet wound- that would certainly give the Omega an advantage. Added with the fact that Tony had discarded his broken suit back in the control room. Theo also had a good height and muscle advantage as well.
Entering the filing room, Tony darted to the old computer running on fumes. Fingers dancing across the keys, Tony seemed to find the code for the file he wanted- or two, considering he first went to the cabinets to the left before collecting another file to the right.
Dragging a stool over to a desk, which Tony cleared with the sweep of his arm, he opened the first file.
“Theodore King, a medical officer in one-o-seven squadron. Class: Omega. 18 years old upon capture- seems like someone lied about their enlistment age…” Tony mumbled. “… You’re enhanced.”
Tony turned to face the assassin, “Mind telling me what you can do?”
Theo frowned but released the sensitive information after reminding himself that Hydra was compromised if not completely destroyed, “I’m not sure how to explain it.”
“Try for me, kid.” Tony insisted.
Theo sighed, leaning against the edge of the desk Tony was occupying, “Imagine there are two… worlds on top of each other- both existing at the same time.”
“Like alternate dimensions?”
“No. Most people can either be in one world or the other-“
“Most?”
“Well that’s my enhancement. I walk on both.”
“Okay, tell me more about this other world, is it dangerous?”
“It can be, if I let it.” Theo frowned.
“Ok, and can you take anyone there?” Tony asked.
“Well yes, sort of.” Theo mumbled, “I’d have to kill you.”
Tony froze at such words, but relaxed at Theo’s lack of movement, he then put together all the pieces Theo had given him, “Wait- you’re telling me, you can interact the with dead?”
Theo grimaced at the description but nodded, “Yes.”
Tony pursed his lips before looking to Theo with a rather serious expression.
“I want you to prove it.”

As It Was (S2)
Chapter Twelve
previous chapter next chapter
Summary: You have a bold idea that obviously leads you and Bucky into an argument. Who doesn't like a wedding?
Author's note: Dear readers, I will be writing this fanfic again. This second season will have shorter chapters and it will probably take me a little longer to update the fanfic but I hope you like it!
MINORS DO NOT INTERACT WITH THIS STORY, there may be adult content and verbal and physical violence.
Tumblr media
"That's the craziest invention you've ever had, Melisa. Did your ex-husband agree to this whole strategy?" Sam asks after you tell him your plan to capture Steve and Killian.
"What makes you believe I told him before I told the four of you?" I speak confidently that they will see things as I do.
"To recap, do you want to be bait in a fake wedding; making two dangerous men come after you?" Yelena seems to have understood the premise of my genius plan.
"Yes, this marriage will make them want to burn the archives. Despite my father's evidence, the fact that they tried to kill me makes everything worse." The reality is that I can't run away forever. Not knowing when something might happen to you or someone you love.
"What if they don't show up? Are you going to marry Barnes again?" Sam says it like it's the most unlikely thing in the world, considering I was married to Barnes once.
"Whatever, it's better to take a risk and not work out, than to do nothing and live in fear." I say, determined to make this weak team help me capture the man who killed my father and the man who almost killed me.
"I agree with Melisa, living in fear doesn't do any good. Not to mention that her marrying Bucky isn't the end of times. We'll be there to protect the engaged couple after all." Wanda speaks, trying to seek support in her wife's eyes, but Yelena seems unsatisfied.
"This could go very wrong, you could die, we could die too because Barnes won't accept this and we will have to do it without his cooperation. So if everything goes wrong he will take it out on us." Sam's right, Barnes will probably be pissed at them and if I survive at most I'll get two weeks without sex as punishment.
"But if we don't do anything to help Melisa, these two cowards will haunt her life. My friend spent months in a hospital bed and wants her peace back. I think we should give her that." Dave he says with authority, trying to show himself as a supporter of this plan. I hug him gently.
"Give what, to whom?" James Barnes came out of his eternal bath wearing a robe. Look, I didn't tell him about the plan but I know he's going to hate it.
"His ex-wife had an unusual idea to solve a problem. We're trying to figure out if it's worth trying." Yelena responds to Barnes, who looks confused.
"Funny, my ex-wife hasn't said anything to me in the days we've been together. At least nothing about this plan." You know that weird feeling like you're going to get fucked? I'm feeling it now.
"That's because she didn't feel you were ready to accept that plan." I say quietly as if I wished I didn't have to say anything.
"On a scale of one to ten, how much does Melisa put herself in danger in her plan?" He asks, clearly speaking to the rest of the group.
"Nine." Exactly everyone says it together, as if they were synchronized. Barnes looked at me as if to say, now you know why I don't like his plan.
"Baby, there's no way I'm going to agree to this plan. You at least suggested being bait to catch the two mother fuckers that almost killed you and I." It's funny how he says this minutes before grabbing me by the waist and kissing me on the cheek.
"I'm not going to give up on the plan, Barnes. I love you and I respect you. I would like you to respect my plan and follow it. But if you don't, I'll go through with it without you." I said looking into the eyes my ex. I know he wants the best for me but I can't live in this way forever.
"Do you want to end up like your father?" He responds sharply and I move away from him. I think we went back to the beginning of our relationship again. He wants to have the last word and I want to do what's best for me.
"Better to end up like him, than to live a life of fear and cowardice. If you don't understand me, that's your problem. But if you love me that much, you should support me and protect me. It was exactly for this reaction that I didn't tell you the plan." I say this hoping he will say something, say he will accept the plan or that I can't count on him. But I get silence. In fact, he left the house that was once ours and left without saying a word.
"I changed my mind, I'll support you in this. If you need a new fiancé, I'm available. Now I'm going to go and see where your husband went." Sam says kissing my cheek and going after Barnes.
"I still think this plan is crazy but if you're willing to fight Barnes over this, it must be important to you. Count on me, for any plan you have." Yelena says giving me a look of support. I am grateful for her decision to help me.
"These idiots and I are going to help you. Either way we're going to get Steve and Killian. One way or another." Wanda says hugging me and then saying goodbye. Just me and Daven left.
"Wine and ice cream?" Dave says, throwing himself on the couch and turning on my TV. You nod your head, hoping that some movie will take your argument with Barnes out of your mind. To think he was so angry that he came out in a bathrobe. It's even funny.

The Red Wedding.
Tumblr media
Summary: Weddings are times for Celebrations, but this wedding takes the cake.
Pairings: Mafia!Steve Rogers x OFC
Words: 3.6k
Warnings: Violence lots of violence, and Peggy Carter.
A/N: It's been a while and I'm super excited to post this. This is based on a scene from a movie I watched today that just made my jaw drop super different but has the same premise.
When one is young there is always that time when you picture the perfect wedding, the perfection in every detail from the large venue with the gorgeous view to the smallest ribbon that would be used. Everything was methodical. Yet here you stood blood splattering your beautiful pearl white dress, hair in disarray, mascara smudged and running, and a loaded gun in your hand.
  Guests were frantically running around trying to find some sense of what the hell had just happened. From across the room, you watched your husband face you taking a step forward and then another until he was only a few feet away, you raised the gun pointing it at him, but not once did he flinch at your action.
“Me chingastes Steve, por ultima ves me chingastes hijo de puta.”
Taking a deep breath, you pulled the trigger.
-         3 Hours Earlier       -
The ceremony had been beautiful, Steve had gone all out on expenses never once asking anything from your parents. This had brought much joy to your father as he acted like the cat that ate the canary, every time he showed a hint of smugness you couldn’t help but roll your eyes sharing some meaningful glances with Steve.
In a sense yes, your father was earning a lot with your marriage to Steve, by having his business be administered by the biggest mafia boss in Brooklyn and if his price was to let him have his only child that was a sacrifice, he was willing to make. Well, not much of a sacrifice since you and Steve had been together for quite some time joined to the hip since he was a sickly kid until he rose in ranks and his abrupt puberty where he grew three times his size and could plummet anybody who looked at you funny into the ground.
With how long you both had been together it was almost inevitable for your engagement to be announced, everybody knew and everybody important was invited. With Steve and you deciding to keep the ceremony private (much to the chagrin of your father), with your parents, Bucky Steve’s best friend and righthand man, and Sam Steve’s other best friend present everything went smoothly just like you had always pictured.
The ride over to the venue was filled with heated kisses and touches that made you lose your breath; you could feel his smug smile as he kissed your neck. Everything was going as planned your entrance was greeted with big cheers and applauses, at some point you and Steve were separated he was being taken by Sam and Bucky to join the other boys while you took the liberty of greeting your other guest trying to make time before the real festivities began.
Half an hour later, after removing yourself from a painful conversation with your Tia where she went on and on about her newly installed backyard grill, you were able to meet with Steve again who looked a little disheveled but otherwise unharmed. He was grinning a stupid smile marking his face as he pulled you close, giving you small kisses and finally bringing you into a big hug, burying his nose into your hair.
“You don’t know how happy you’ve made me by tying yourself to me indefinitely.”
You huffed out a laugh hitting his chest at his remark, “Menso, I married you because I love you don’t be calling our marriage me tying myself to you.”
You gave him a small smirk, “I mean I can still get rid of you at any time.”
Steve let out a deep growl pulling you flush against him; you give a small yelp at his roughness trying to look around and see if anybody noticed, noting that most people were avoiding looking or walking toward your area. Steve jostled you again forcing your attention back to him, you knew Steve like the back of your hand and at that moment, you knew that if it would have just been the two of you Steve wouldn’t have hesitated to throw you over this table and fuck you into oblivion.
“Baby you really do know how to get me going, I can’t wait until we get home so I can fuck you into every surface that I can get you on.”
Bucky, who was the only person who was brave enough to come near you cleared his throat, he motioned behind him where several people had congregated to talk. Steve’s face turned stormy pulling away from you fixing himself to a proper state, he gave Bucky a nod who turned back towards the group, Steve looked pissed, and this worried you because you knew Steve and he would never let his emotions show especially in such an open venue where most of his competitors were present.
Whatever this was it was serious.
You grabbed his hand giving him a brief squeeze to let him know that it was okay, he gave a soft huff giving you a brief kiss before heading over to Bucky and the other men. You didn’t want anybody to see you worried, raising a glass to the DJ a soft cumbia started that got many people to join the dance floor keeping many busy and others distracted.
You watched Steve and the men as they talked in hurried hushed tones, you could see the tension building as one of the men who you knew was Tony who was from the Manhattan district showed something to Steve that made him madder. The music drowned out most people and they left you alone, just as you were beginning to relax you hear the tell-tale sign of your ringtone you knew you should have kept it silent, but you were waiting on a particularly important phone call from your firm for a recent case.
You grabbed your phone ‘UNKOWN NUMBER’ displayed across the screen, it confused you, so you let it ring not bothering to pick it up. The ringing stopped but soon after it started again, you knew you couldn’t ignore it any longer if they were going to keep insisting.
“Hello?”
“Finally, I get ahold of you!” A deep feminine voice answered through the line, “Congratulations on the wedding! You’re a lucky girl today.”
“Who is this? What do you want?” You looked around the room trying to see if you could spot anybody with a phone.
“Calm down kid, I just wanted to give you a little information on the man you just married,” The lady on the line laughed and you couldn’t help the annoyance that brought on you.
“Look lady I don’t know who the fuck you are but you’re getting on my fucking nerves.”
“Oh, sweetie I was just trying to make conversation, I just wanted you to know what your husband was doing or who he was doing just a few days a few days ago or specifically last Thursday.”
That stopped you cold, you knew exactly what she was talking about. Last week Steve had gone out early in the morning saying that he had an important meeting with a buyer, and he stayed out late almost coming home until early the next morning. You remembered since you had stayed up to wait for him and to finish working on some case files before you had to head out on your honeymoon.
“He worked me out all night until early morning, it was an amazing goodbye gift he gave me before he tied himself to you.”
At this point you were shacking both in anger and in sorrow at what could be the truth, you looked to where Steve was still preoccupied with his friends at that moment he looked up and caught your eye his face melted into something lovingly and you couldn’t help the choked sobbed that worked its way out your throat. You heard the lady on the line laugh at your sob and you knew that she was a sadistic bitch who was enjoying your pain.
“Quien chingados eres? You fucking bitch if you have the balls to call me on my wedding day and tell me all of this you should also have the balls to tell me your fucking name.”
She laughed again loving the fact that she was able to get you to this state, “You should ask him who Peggy Carter is and you’ll know in an instant that I’m not lying to you.”
The line went dead after and all you could focus on was the dial tone, you were fuming not just at this Peggy lady but at Steve for making you a fool. At this point you weren’t in control of yourself everything seemed so loud and too quiet as you made your way to Steve and the other men, pushing past them not caring who they were until Steve was the only thing you could see.
“Who the fuck is Peggy Carter?” Steve’s eyes widened at the name and all the other men in the group began to murmur amongst each other, but your focus was only on Steve who seemed to have lost all color.
“Baby how do you know that name?” His answer was enough to set you off as you punched his chest slapping the phone onto his chest, your only goal was to get answers from him and hurt him as much as you were hurting. Bucky tried to grab your arm, but Steve shook his head no and that just made you madder.
“Te la cogiste verdad hijo de puta? You fucked her a week before our fucking wedding, how could you?”
Steve was holding onto your arms trying to stop you from hitting him but also from hurting yourself, he pulled you forward until you were squished against his chest but that just felt like you were suffocating so you pushed him away.
“Answer me you fucking coward, did you fuck her?”
“No baby I would never do that to you, you know how much I love you.”
“Don’t lie to me Rogers or I swear to god I’ll fucking kill you.”
Just as Steve was about to answer a few gunshots ranged out across the room, Steve pushed you down until he was covering around you, and people began to run around as glass shattered and screams went around the room. Steve pushed you towards Bucky telling him to get you out of there as more shots were fired Bucky handed Steve a gun as he began to pull you towards the exit.
“Bucky let me go,” You screeched as you fought against him, he ignored you keeping himself close as he walked you towards the exit. From your position you couldn’t see much, just people running from every exit that they could find. Just as you were reaching the door you spotted a brown-haired woman walking towards where Steve was, seeming to ignore the chaos around and strolling towards your husband as if there was no care in the world. Her lips were painted a deep red matching her dress and something in you just knew.
This fucking bitch was Peggy Carter.
“Bucky you have to go to Steve, you have to tell him that Peggy is here.”
Bucky seemed to have come to the same conclusion as he watched Peggy making her way to where Steve was fighting some goon oblivious to her presence.
“I’ll be fine just go to Steve, give me a gun,” He whipped his head towards a conflicted look until he reached into his inner pocket and removed a gun for you.
“You better not make me regret this,” Were his last words until he was sprinting towards Steve dodging men as much as he could. You turned to the exit running towards the kitchen where you knew you could lose someone or find someplace to hide. Just as you reached the doors to outs you were yanked back by a strong force, slamming you onto the floor stealing your breath away.
You knew you only had seconds to react, you shot up a few rounds hoping something would hit. A grunt, and then a thump as the man fell over. There was blood and a lot of it, most of it had missed you but there was still a rogue spray that hit you. You got up shakily, you knew how to shoot a gun, but never had you killed someone like this.
Your insides felt loose and firm and you couldn’t help but throw up everything from that day until you were dry heaving. You must have taken too long because as soon as you steadied yourself somebody was already grabbing you. You tried to struggle against your grabber but stopped as you felt the barrel of the gun being pressed against your head.
“Don’t try anything sweetheart, now you and I are gonna take a little trip back into the reception” he started shoving you forward, “Can’t have you leaving your own party early now, can we?”
You grunted as he pushed you hard enough that your foot gave out a little, it wasn’t extreme, but it did cause you to start limping much to the annoyance of your captor. He pushed you towards the doors leading to the reception, Steve was bound to a chair Peggy was on his lap Bucky and Sam were surrounded by men keeping them from doing anything without getting killed. The moment the doors had slammed open everybody turned to you, Steve’s eyes seemed to widen as he looked at all the blood and your limping state, he began to fight against his restraints jostling Peggy out of his lap.
The gun being pressed to your temple stops him from doing anything else. Peggy huffs motioning for the man holding you to bring you forward. You didn’t have your gun anymore; Steve was incapacitated, and Bucky and Sam had every gun on them you knew that this looked like you had lost. The moment that you were close Peggy drew you into a hug, you recoiled trying to get away from her but a gun to your back stopped you.
“After our heart-to-heart through the phone, this is how you’re going to repay me?” Peggy pouted at you, and this made it clear she was crazy.
“Yeah, well I just saw it as some crazy bitch trying to ruin my perfect day, how would you see it?” That must have been the wrong thing as Peggy’s face became enraged, she swung her hand at you a sting running from your cheek where she struck you.
“Get the fuck away from her Peggy or I swear,” Steve yelled at her fighting to get himself off the chair, Peggy ignored him tooting in disagreement.
“Baby if you don’t stop trying to get out of that chair, I’ll start hurting your little bitch.” Steve seemed to be having a fight with himself trying to find a way to get out of this and get you to safety. Peggy walked towards Steve leaning down to whisper something in his ear that made him mad but made no move to fight.
“Now baby, how about you tell your wife about the wonderful time we had, how you told me how much you loved me and how the only reason why we couldn’t be together was that you were getting much more from the deal.”
Bucky, who was still on the ground, whipped his head towards you ready to say something but was stopped as the man behind him pressed the barrel into the back of his head stopping him.
“Just let her know baby, tell her what we did, and I promise you I’ll let her go.” Steve seemed to contemplate before dropping his head in defeat.
“It’s true, we were together last Thursday,” Steve made a face as if he was in pain, almost as if the words he was spitting out hurt, “I was having second thoughts about getting married, I didn’t know if you were the right person for me.”
Steve’s words hit you hard, all the pain and rage that was inside you was brewing and at this point, you were unsure if you were about to scream or throw up.
“Peggy she was there, and I took my chance to figure it out if you were what I wanted.” He lamely finished, his face twisted into a grimace but all you could see was Peggy’s stupid grin and that just made you angry. You slammed your heel into your captor and threw your head back until it collided with his face, and he released you with a yelp. Bucky and Sam seemed to have taken advantage of the distraction as they flew back against their own captors wrestling them into the ground. Steve slammed himself back smashing the chair into pieces to free himself. Your captor tackled you down, slamming your head into the floor obscenities flying at you before Steve practically ripped him off from you.
Peggy began to rush away but you took the chance from everybody’s distraction to go after her, you were unsteady, but she did not get far as you tackled her. She began to throw punches at you, one of them catching you in your cheek, the other splitting your lip, but you weren’t far off as you also landed your own blows.
“You fucking Perra, you ruined my wedding and I’m going to fucking kill you.”
Peggy reached around her trying to find a way to get you off her, her hands grazing the floor until she latched onto a shard of champagne glass from the earlier altercation. She lashed up cutting your arm and making you retreat as she tried to keep slashing at you. She rushed over trying to stab you screaming her head off at you as she did.
“He was mine; he was always mine and you fucking took him away you fucking bitch. He loves me not you.” She cried as she slashed your arms. You pushed her away as she stumbled back and fell just as she was going to get up, she was stopped by Bucky who had incapacitated everybody else.
Steve walked towards Bucky looking down at a struggling Peggy, “Take her somewhere else, we’ll deal with her later.”
You walked away, your leg was starting to hurt and the cuts from the glass were stinging, this wasn’t your fight anymore and you were done. People were rushing around, reinforcements from someone else, and at this point, you really didn’t care, you knew you would have to call your parents and check on them, you knew they had gotten out but still.
You reached down to collect a bottle of champagne that was still intact and an abandoned gun. You knew you still had one thing to deal with and you could finally head home and relax, but this would just have to be a priority. You turned back to the scene; your husband was still directing people trying to clear out as much as he could.
You watched your husband as he pointed at things around, he turned towards you, taking in your running mascara blood-covered dress, and messy hair, and all he felt was deep love at how strong you were in all this. He walked towards you trying to get as close as he could stopping short as he saw the gun in your hand, you raised it aiming at him but that didn’t scare him, the only thoughts that came into his mind were how beautiful you looked and how lucky he was to have you.
“Me chingastes Steve, por ultima ves me chingastes hijo de puta.”
Steve didn’t move and felt the bullet graze his arm, but he didn’t care as the rage melted off you, and concern was all he saw. You rushed forward discarding the gun and bottle, you grabbed at his arm trying to see the damage you caused but instead met a firm chest as Steve held you close.
“Chingate Steve, dejame ver, let me see your arm you fucking asshole.” You pushed away from him as you removed his suit to look at his arm, he began to caress your face you ignored him as you ripped away at his shirt.
“This doesn’t change anything you know, I’m fucking pissed at you asshole,” You looked up at Steve who only showed love in his eyes, “You’re lucky I don’t file for an annulment.”
Steve felt the breath being squeezed out of him, just the idea of you not being with him scared him.
“Baby, I promise you with all that I have and to my last breath that I was never with her, I’ve only ever loved you and I promise you that everything she said was a lie.” Steve was outright begging at this point trying to make you believe him, and you knew Steve you’ve always known Steve.
“Of course, I know, don’t be a pendejo about this I know you, Steve, I did doubt you, but I know that disrespecting me and us like that is not in you.”
You looked away seeing Bucky pick up the gun you had used on Steve as he pocketed away, he caught your eye and nodded at you and Steve as if to ask if you were okay. You knew he wasn’t asking about your injuries, so you nodded at him, he inclined his head and turned to Sam slapping him in the back which made the other man yelp and punches him back.
“Steve yo te amo, and I know you, I’ve always known what type of man you are,” You pushed up, your foot complained against it, but you brushed your lips against his which made him melt at your touch, “I love you.”
Steve let the tension out, kissing you passionately as if he were trying to engrave your memory into his brain.
“I love you too.”

At Odds || James "Bucky" Barnes
Request: hii!! Can you write an enemies to lovers with Bucky x fm reader? They hate each other with everything inside of them (you can make up a reason) and they hate being put together on missions because they don’t get along well but they’re fighting skills are similar so they get paired at times. They’re on a mission to infiltrate a hydra base and Bucky doesn’t know the reader is also from hydra and she starts getting flashbacks bc she has just escaped, maybe a couple years ago. While fighting she gets shot in the stomach and is about to pass out so Bucky has to save her and take her to a safe house to attend to her wound. Super angsty pls.
A/N: Timeline is a little wonky (sorry haven’t watched early avengers in so long) so just role with it. Changed a few things around to make it work! Sorry this took so long, hope you guys enjoy!
Pairing: Bucky Barnes X Reader
Word Count: 5,700+
Tumblr media
Naivety. That’s what got you into the forsaken mess that you found yourself in. Sold a bill of goods that you would never receive. They promised you that they were the good guys. They even showed you that they were the good guys. That you would be saving the world. They were supposed to be the people that would save the world. Until you learned they weren’t. Until it was too fucking late. No longer you. You were a freak. A half human. A super soldier. Reduced to a fucking weapon.
They weren’t supposed to make anymore. Bucky was supposed to be the last. But once S.H.I.E.L.D. went down and the mask fell off you learned. You were one of five new weapons for them. They learned from Bucky and ‘corrected their mistakes’, whatever that means. You trained to become an assassin for the worst people in the world. Once the facade was exposed and the bricks started to crack you knew you had to run. To get so far away from them that they’d never find you.
It was difficult faking it while you formulated a plan. You still had to present yourself as a loyal agent that’d do anything they asked. You still had to be their super soldier, or they’d put a bullet right between your eyes. They made sure that you knew this.
Keep reading
It wasn’t easy escaping, but you managed. You decided that it was best to go as unseen as possible, leaving in the middle of the night. Only having to neutralize a few Hydra agents you managed to slip out a side door. You had prepared for that. Taking night missions and scoping out the base when you could. What you weren’t prepared for was the trek you were about to go on.
Not having a clue where you were other than being in some underground bunker in the middle of a mountain range you began your journey. Quickly, you learned that you’d ended up in the Swiss Alps at Hydras headquarters. They’d kept you in the dark for so long it shouldn’t have surprised you this was where you’d ended up. There were spans of time you couldn’t remember and account for, why should it be so surprising that you were moved at some point.
You walked and walked for what seemed like forever. Hiding in empty homes and scavenging your way. You’d landed in a small town just south of Munich deciding this would be the best place to land. Keeping your cover low you quietly learned German trying to integrate yourself in. You thought you were good and safe there until you were approached by S.H.I.E.L.D. only a year into your hiding.
They brought you back to America, at your request, and dug into everything. You drew maps and gave them all the details you could remember. One perk of being a super freak is having a super freak mind. You remembered a whole lot that you hoped could take these evil people down.
They had offered you a spot on The Avengers which you turned down. You had forgotten how fucking nice it was to just be normal for a while. That year long sabbatical really changed the way you thought about life. Spending god knows how long trapped with Hydra really put things into perspective.
You were approached again after another year. This time Nick Fury himself showed up at your front door practically begging you to join the cause. They were planning on infiltrating their headquarters and needed you for it. Apparently, it was life or death. So, you agreed, it’d be good to go home anyway. America was such a distant place for you now that you’d lived a completely different life.
They brought you to compound in upstate New York. Your room was better than any room you’d ever lived in. As you laid down in your bed you realized this wouldn’t be so bad after all. Sure, you’d have to go back to that horrific place but at least you’d have backup with you. You had a chance to change your story. To be the actual hero for once. It didn’t take much convincing on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s part, you needed it. You needed that God damn satisfaction of helping instead of hurting. If your life was cursed, then you needed to do some good. To hopefully fix whatever evil you had brought to the world.
Steve volunteered to walk you around the complex so you wouldn’t get lost. Not that you minded, he was very great to look at. Another awful thing about Hydra? There was no eye candy. Everyone was fucked up. This was a very nice change for you.
“How’d you guys find me?” You asked breaking the comfortable silence between the two of you. He had shown you the kitchen and you were making your way through some hallways before he decided to answer you.
“Bruce did. Don’t ask me how but he’s got some radiation detector thing that does whatever it does.”
You didn’t try and stop the laugh the bubbled up, “Not really the sciency type? Whose Bruce?”
He shook his head, “Not at all.” He smiled continuing to lead you down a few more hallways, “We’ll stop by his lab to say hello. The Hulk. Big green guy.”
“The Hulk?” Tilting your head, you looked up at him, “He’s here? This place is so damn cool.” You’d read up on The Avengers. Hell, you were even slated to take one of them out before you managed to escape. The Hawkeye or some shit.
“Yeah. He’s usually here. Tony comes and goes, I usually stay here, Nat and Clint are never here unless its for a mission. You might even get to meet Thor at some point.”
“He’s real? No fucking way.” Eyes bugging you had a hard time believing him. All of the information Hydra wanted to feed you never included what was happening in the real world. You were immersed in a world of total propaganda the second you signed your name of the dotted line. Your sole purpose in this world, to Hydra, was to be their weapon. A weapon didn’t need to know what was going on outside. Having that weapon actually know what was going on might make that weapon flip. And that’s exactly what you did.
You broke through the hellish layers of propaganda one day when you were ordered to execute a little girl. An innocent little girl who happened to be the child of a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that Hydra was trying to break. He apparently held the key to something they needed. You made it all the way to the site and couldn’t do it. She was six years old playing with one of her dolls. You watched as she had a tea party with all her stuffed animals. Sitting there watching her through the windows of the quaint little house in the countryside. You watched as she ran out to go play with her brother. Her mom seemingly preoccupied with making dinner that night.
You were once that little girl. You once had a family just like that. You could have a life just like that but here you were sitting at a window watching and observing. That’s all it took. Dropping your comms, you rushed to the front door knocking rapidly. The mom answered, horrified when she realized you weren’t one of the good guys. The sheer look of absolute terror coming from her broke you. It broke your training. Your propagandized mind was slipping. You told her everything. That they needed to stage their daughter’s death. That if they didn’t you would have to come back and do the job for real next time.
She listened. God bless her soul. She listened and faked her daughter’s death. Hydra didn’t know. S.H.I.E.L.D. sure as hell knew. That was the day everything changed for you. The day you knew you needed to escape. The day you knew you had to put on the greatest show you could. You were going to be the most perfect super soldier until you figured out how in the hell to get out. And that’s exactly what you did. They didn’t suspect a damn thing. Oh, you would pay big money to see the look on their faces that morning you went missing.
The two of you talked to Bruce for a while before he continued the tour of the compound. Eventually you ended in the living room area where you ran into someone you hadn’t seen before. Someone who seemed terribly familiar.
“Bucky.” Steve nodded to the man dressed in all black.
“What’s she doing here?” Bucky pulled Steve off to the side leaving you on your own momentarily.
Of course, you could hear everything. Your stupid hearing being incredible and everything. You sat back into the couch listening in. Might as well use this ‘gift’ as an advantage.
“We told you. She’s here to help. She just got out and it’s been years since you’ve been there…”
Bucky seemingly interrupted Steve as his voice cut in, “I don’t fucking need help. You know it. Fury knows it. This whole God damn team knows it.” He sounded pissed. Was he Hydra too? He sounded like it.
“Stop being so stubborn Bucky! You haven’t been there in years. Things change.”
“She can’t be trusted.”
Frowning you understood why he didn’t trust you. He was definitely Hydra. The famous super solider The Avengers have been hiding. It was hard to trust once you left that place. They broke you down so far you weren’t sure if you could ever build that feeling back up.
“Why? She left there just like you did.” Steve challenged.
“She just can’t!” He yelled making you jump right out of your seat, out of your composed demeanor. Fuck Hydra. Any loud noise and you were ready fight. Fight or flight was engrained into you.
Slowly you made your way back over to them only to earn a nasty glance from the long-haired man. Shooting Steve one last scowl he made sure to hit your shoulder when he left the room.
“Ouch.” You glared at the back of the man that was walking away, “What’s his fucking problem?” Crossing your hands over your chest you turned back towards Steve.
“That’s just Bucky.” Steve gave you a small half formed smile. Pursing your lips, you eyed him with a harsher look than you really should’ve, not really believing the words that came out of his mouth. Even if that was just Bucky it seemed personal.
“And you just deal with that?”
Steve sighed taking a seat at a bar stool, “He’s difficult with new people?”
“Are you asking me or telling me?”
He sighed not sure how to respond. Admittedly Steve wasn’t good at this people stuff. He was good at the fighting and saving people stuff. Not the trying to keep everybody on good terms in the team kind of guy. But he had to try. He knew Bucky needed you on the mission, “He’s just not a people person.”
“Wow,” You laughed harshly, not finding the situation funny in the slightest, “He’s a great person to have on a team then!”
Steve really didn’t know how to respond now. You walked into this place with the utmost confidence. Challenging not only him but everybody in this building. You were confident but not arrogant. Questioning the status quo that Bucky needed to latch onto. He wasn’t good with change. He was good with constants. And you were a change. A big change.
“He’s difficult. You’ll get used to him.” Steve nodded awkwardly, almost as if he wasn’t believing what he was saying.
And boy was that the understatement of the year. Bucky despised you. Not even sure what you did to get him so worked up all the time you just opted on ignoring the dude. It was easier to just pretend he wasn’t there than to try and get him to talk to you. Every single interaction with the man got harder and harder. You tried talking with Bruce and Natasha about it, but they were also at a loss. Even Steve couldn’t seem to figure it out.
Days turned to weeks turned to months and you turned to hate him to. If you couldn’t get a reason from him then you sure as shit didn’t need one then either. Every time the two of you were in the same room some stupid fucking fight had to occur. Sometimes he got the better of you and sometimes you got the better of him. Two super soldiers that hated each other for no apparent reason.
You went on missions together and learned that you fought nearly identically. Not a huge shock considering you were trained by the same supposed masterminds. Often being paired up because it worked the two of you just seemed to click on the battlefield, always coming up with a win. Holy hell did you two hate it though. Every second flying into the mission was met with complaining and nasty looks. Every moment flying home was met with criticisms and complaints about how you fought.
It was exhausting. He was pushing you further than fucking Hydra had just by his measly ass words. You wish you could let them roll off you like you had prior, but you couldn’t. Because of course you couldn’t. You took every fucking word to heart. Every criticism made you train harder. Every complaint made you fight with a little more force.
It was never enough. It would never be enough, and you had to accept it.
Then the day came for the big one. The big mission. The back ‘home’ mission. The mission you knew you were risking your life for. But hey, that’s why you came. Too late to back down now. You, Bucky, Cap and Nat were on the mission. You and Bucky would be the ones infiltrating with Nat and Cap ready for backup and ground cover.
You were ready for this. You’d trained for this.
You’d gotten in flawlessly. You just had to get to the damn office and go. Always easier said than done though.
“Y/N!” You heard the one voice you were praying you weren’t going to hear. The motherfucker that tortured and brainwashed you for all those years. Your bonafide handler if you will.
Instead of turning you pushed on behind Bucky, “Levi.” You muttered to Bucky. Get in, shoot the target, grab the goods, and go. It should’ve been simple if you were in the right headspace. But you weren’t, not just having a blowout with Bucky twenty minutes before. You’d argued the best way in because the two of you could never agree. Not until it was life or death.
“Y/N stop!” You shouldn’t have paused. That was your first mistake. Enough time for him to aim a bullet right at your hip. Luckily you were in stride, so it didn’t embed itself, just grazing your side deeply. You yelped out in pain. He knew where to hit. Of course, he had the right guns to get through your shield. You knew it you just refused to believe it. Push on, keep running.
Bucky only grabbed your hand when he saw your speed slowing. He knew better than to leave a soldier behind. Even if it was you.
“Come on, keep up!” He grunted pulling you along faster.
You face crinkled up in pain as you tried to keep up. Each step hurting slightly more than the last, “Sorry, Bucky. ‘M trying.” You could barely get out. Trying to focus on your breathing rather than the pain you hadn’t realized he nearly stopped to a halt. Hands grabbing your shoulders he shoved you behind him as he pulled out his own gun.
With movements faster than even you could comprehend he fired a shot to his head before he even realized what was happening.
“Holy shit.” You muttered watching the man that had tortured you for so long drop to ground like a bag of bricks.
“You’re welcome.” He smirked looking all too proud of himself.
You huffed, “Thanks, I guess?”
“Don’t get used to it. Let’s go. We’ve made a scene.” He dramatically rolled his eyes before continuing on running, just not as fast this time.
“Fuck.” You groaned trying to keep his pace but failing miserably. The wound starting to hurt more and more with each passing minute. The adrenaline was fading faster than you would’ve hoped.
“Gotta keep up now, we’re almost there.” He slowed down to a walk to keep pace with you. That was embarrassing.
You stopped when you couldn’t take it any longer, “I can’t, sorry. My side. It’s hurting. You go and I’ll keep cover or something. I’m useless right now.” You admitted as you moved you bloody hand away from your side.
“Ouch.” He raised an eyebrow in surprise. It must’ve been pretty bad if you got that reaction out of Bucky, “Right through the armor.”
You sighed, “Some special bullet. They were working on it when I was escaping. I’m sure they’ve perfected it by now. Lucky it hit my side, or it’d be right through me.” Laughing nervously, you observed a new reaction from him, actual empathy? He looked concerned as he walked around you, making sure you weren’t hurt.
“Who was that anyway?”
You shrugged, “They called him Levi. Not sure. He was my scientist and handler if you know what I mean.”
He nodded, “Sure. I had one myself.”
You sighed placing pressure back on the still seeping wound, “Guess they don’t change. Even eighty years later.” You leaned back on the wall, “Go. Finish the mission.”
“Yeah, one problem though. Can’t leave you. Boss’s orders.” He tapped his microphone in his ear before making his way over to you.
“What?” You could barely get out before he picked you right up, “What are you doing Bucky?” You didn’t want to admit just how fucking good his embrace felt. Not now especially. Not in the middle of the damn hydra base. Not when you knew he fucking despised you.
“Boss said nobody left behind. Off we go.” He ran with you easily. You knew you could likely do the same. Being super soldiers and all.
“Who?” You challenged him. Why? You didn’t really know. Maybe it was your defensiveness kicking in. More so it was that you were confused as to why he was helping. You were sure he was going to sprint right away once you gave him the go ahead.
“Cap.”
Thinking for a moment you realized that it was plausible. Steve had been very protective over you from the get-go, “Guess I’ll have to thank Cap later then.”
“Sure.” Bucky refused to look at you and kept his eyes ahead. Bucky knew these hallways just as well as you did. You were right after all, not much had changed in the eighty or so year timespan between the two of your stays.
Realizing his one worded answers were a tactic you quieted down. He wasn’t a terribly chatty guy to begin with. Then add you to the mix? He couldn’t stand it. What was his reasoning for disliking you so? He knew deep down you were fine. You escaped the Hydra hell hole just like he did. But he knew how fucked up you likely were. Even if you were just a quarter as fucked up as he was you were in a bad state. Hydra had no limits. They’d kill for far less.
He didn’t trust you. He didn’t trust himself so how in the hell could he trust you? It was easier this way. Keep the Hydra girl far, far away. What’s the easiest way to do that? Be the biggest dickhead he could be. It was successful. He even had his best friend stumped. He wouldn’t budge. Couldn’t budge. It was best for both of you.
Then you had to go and get yourself shot. He’d never leave you behind. Even if he didn’t trust you fully, he couldn’t let a member of his team stay back when he was more than capable of helping.
He set you down in the office chair once he made it to the main office where all the documents were kept, “Keep watch, alright?”
“Yes sir.” Giving him a more than sarcastic salute you nodded him to look for the files needed.
He turned concentrating on finding what he needed. You heard footsteps from down the hall. You didn’t think much of it as you started to feel a little funny. The sound of those footsteps marching in such a manner brining you right back to when you were a prisoner in their system only two years ago. The sights, smells and now sounds flashing you back to those horrific days.
You heard the steps stop at the door. You fucked up. You lost concentration. You were supposed to be keeping guard and you couldn’t even do that. Fuck, the footsteps should have started up again, but they didn’t. They stopped right in front of the door.
“Bucky!” You yelled getting his attention, your cover was blown anyway. It didn’t matter, “Door. 2 people.”
He nodded grabbing his gun a little too late. As did you. Hearing a faint, “It’s her.” Before a bullet ripped right through your lower half. You immediately let out a pained cry as the bullet hit you straight in the abdomen. Fuck. How unlucky could you be?
Quickly, Bucky shot them both a second too late. Realizing you were the target he rushed over to you. Your eyes felt far too heavy to know you probably weren’t making it out of this one. Not without help at least.
“Oh, no, no, no, no.” Bucky’s eyes widened seeing the blood drip down you side, staining your suit a nasty crimson color. Slumping back into the chair you were already sitting in. You closed your eyes before opening them very slowly.
“Damn.” Looking down you covered your stomach as best as you could, but this was a whole lot of blood. You’d never seen yourself this bloody before. The worst was the smell of it. The nasty metallic stench was a smell you could certainly live without. It smelled even worse knowing it was your own fucking blood.
He ripped off a pant leg quicky tying it around your waist as quick as he could, making sure the bulk of it sinched your abdomen in, “Good enough.” He grumbled before lifting you bridal style, “I need you to stay with me now, Y/N. Eyes on me now.”
“Okay.” You spoke as best as you could.
Your eyes felt too heavy though. It was getting hard to keep them open. You knew this meant you lost too much blood. You’d only felt this a few times prior, each time just escaping by the skin of your teeth. This seemed different though, a little more severe.
“Shit, Y/N. You’ve gotta keep your eyes open.” You felt like he was climbing now. Was he really about to get you out of here safely?
“’M trying.” You mumbled.
What came out of Bucky’s mouth shocked you right back into the present, “And you’re doing so good. But I need to see them open right now yeah?” Was Bucky, of all people, praising you? You hated to admit it, but it felt too damn good.
Opening them just a bit more you saw Bucky’s now anxiety riddled face, “Thank you.” He sighed while squeezing you softly, “Just a little bit further. There’s a house on the mountain side with some suppliers. I hid there not too long ago when we were scoping the place out.”
“Sure.” You coughed, immediately regretting the reaction. You let out a guttural cry feeling the pain ripple from your abdomen all across your body.
“Almost there. Just a little longer.” You saw him tap his comm’s continuously trying to get ahold of anybody.
“Cap, oh thank God.” He sped up seeing your eyes begin to shut again softly, “She’s shot… yeah… no, it’s not good. I’m heading to the bunker now. We need backup right away… Yes, got the documents. Copy.”
He looked relieved when he saw the house on the horizon only to be shattered when he saw your eyes closed completely, “Y/N! Wake up!”
You faintly heard him but couldn’t seem to care. It was too fucking hard to open your eyes, “Come on Y/N!” He tried shaking you gently once he got to the side door.
You hummed trying to let him know you heard him.
“Fuck.” He kicked the door in not really giving a damn about it now. He laid you down on the couch checking your back to see if there was an exit wound. He was a little relieved to know there wasn’t one, which meant the bullet was in you still. That sucked for you later but for now it meant he could get you back into a survivable state.
“This is going to hurt.” Bucky frowned pulling the stitch kit out of the bathroom along with the first aid kit. Bucky opted for the stapler as it was quicker and slightly less painful than stitching you back up without any numbing.
He went ahead without your acknowledgement. Your eyes shot open as the first staple began to close the wound. Letting out a quiet whimper you knew you needed to stay as still as possible for him but damn, did that hurt
“I’m so sorry. Here squeeze my leg. But don’t break it.” He shuffled around so his leg was near a hand offering you something to grasp onto. He knew just how painful this was. He’d been through it a few times before. Just like you had. It didn’t make it hurt any less though.
“Shit.” You let out a soft cry as he placed the second staple through your skin.
“I know. Fuck. Only a few more.” His hands trembled as your blood coated his hands. He paused only to wipe it clean so he could see. He didn’t want to put you through any more pain than necessary.
You nodded blinking back tears. For whatever reason this was worse than the Hydra torture. This felt like you were being cared for by somebody who actually did care. Not just an asset. Even if he hated you at least he had an emotion towards you. He noticed you.
You groaned when you felt another staple bring your skin back together.
“Two more.” He sighed wiping away the seeping blood that didn’t want to stop.
“Go fast.” You bit your teeth together grabbing onto his leg. He nodded hitting the last two back-to-back.
You sighed knowing the worst of it was over. Placing a pack of gauze down he pressed down firmly before wrapping and bandaging you up, “How do you feel?” He asked nervously not sure what to expect from you. Things were going to get awkward now. He just knew it. He couldn’t go back to treating you the way he had been before. Not after this trip. You’d gotten too close. Shared a little bit too much to act so cold.
“Better.” You gave him a soft nod thankful that it was closed up. But you were still feeling it. You still had a wound, a bullet lodged in you.
“Cap and Nat will be here soon.” He broke you out of your thoughts.
You closed your eyes focusing on breathing. It hurt, really fucking bad. But at least you weren’t bleeding anymore. Bucky had taken care of that for you.
“Wake me when they get here.” Your eyes felt too heavy now. The adrenaline all but worn off all you wanted to do was sleep.
He didn’t like that answer. “Y/N.” He shook your shoulder forcing you to open your eyes before he would stop, “Just keep them open for a little longer. Once you’re hooked up to a monitor then you can go to sleep. Okay?”
“I’m just... so tired.” You sighed, trying your best to stay earth side.
“I know.” He paused before speaking to Cap again, “We’ll be right out.”
He didn’t wait to explain anything before he picked you right back up hauling you out to the jet, “Get Banner on the line!” Bucky shouted before gently setting you on the first aid gurney they had stashed for injuries. It was used more often than the team wanted to admit.
“Nat’s on the phone with him now. What happened Bucky? I told you…” Steve gave him a frustrated look. A look that let Bucky know he was angry.
“You don’t think I fucking know?” He growled feeling terrible about what happened, “It happened too fast. They had these special fucking bullets, Steve. I stapled her up. Fuck. She lost so much blood.” He slammed his fist down on a table next to you making you jump slightly. Bucky mumbled some half-baked apologies before walking away. Running his hands through his hard trying his hardest not to rip some of it out.
He should’ve been quicker. He knew you were injured and weren’t on your best game. He had no excuse. You even gave him a heads up and he still failed to protect you. He felt like he was the worst. Always seemingly failing.
“She’s fine. She’ll make a full recovery. Bruce is sure of it. He’s reading her vitals right now and he’s saying she’s right where she should be. You did exactly what you needed to..” Nat placed a comforting hand on her friend’s shoulder. She knew he was tearing himself up over this.
“Hey, you heard Nat, right?” Steve asked. He didn’t like the way Bucky didn’t seem to respond, “What’s going on? You don’t even like her?”
Letting out a frustrated sigh he turned to face Steve, “I don’t trust her. It’s not that I don’t like her. And then she was so fucking helpless. I haven’t seen her like that. Not in the months of training we had back and forth. I thought she was going to die.” Bucky admitted to his best friend.
“Well she didn’t and she’s not. Let’s get her home first and we’ll talk later.”
Bucky nodded, too afraid to go back over to you he took a seat at the front of the jet. Nat and Steve were right there for you anyway. It’s not like you wanted to see him away, or so he thought.
Tumblr media
A soft knock at the door drew your eyes away from the book you were reading. The only thing that seemed to pass the time as you waited for Bruce to let you go back to your room. So far, you’ve been confined to the damn hospital wing for three days, three very long days.
“You came?” You asked a little confused by your guest.
Bucky hummed letting himself in, “How are you?” He stood at the foot of your bed not sure what to do with himself.
“I’m good. Thanks for saving my life and all.” Smiling at him for the first time ever you didn’t mind it. You didn’t mind not yelling at him. Actually, kind of enjoying it.
“Yeah sure. Need somebody to argue with.” He tried to joke only to be met with a frown by you.
You sighed, “Can we not? For once? Please. I’m so tired.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m sorry. I was joking.” He looked away pretending to be captured by the painting on the wall.
“Yeah.” You nodded not sure what to say. How awkward was this. You’ve known each other for months but didn’t know each other at all. All you’ve done was argue. Fight. Yell and scream. But now? This was weird.
“I’m sorry.” Bucky leaned back onto the wall, “Really. I would understand if you don’t want a thing to do with me Y/N. Really. I’m..”
You stopped him by placing a hand up, “It’s okay. I wouldn’t trust me either.” You breathed out, “Just can we not fight? It’s exhausting.”
He nodded, “Sure, yeah.”
“Okay, good.” You let out the breath you’ve been holding for a while. It felt as if a weight had been lifted off your shoulders. Sure, it was awkward, but damn did it feel good to talk to him for once.
“You sure you’re, okay?” Bucky asked again. He was at a loss for words, but he decided to try. Maybe he could find some commonality with you. You’d been through the same shit after all. He didn’t blame you if you wanted him to go far away though, he treated you so terribly.
You nodded sincerely, “I’m great. Bruce just won’t let me go.” You watched his face full of skepticism, “Really, I’m good. Surgery went well and I’ve been out and about all morning. Bruce made me rest.”
Bucky smiled for the first time in a while. Enjoying hearing your explanation even if he didn’t fully believe you, “I’ll tell you what. Once Bruce gives you the okay… since you’re so fine. Me and you spar in the weight room?”
You laughed. It didn’t surprise you. It seemed like him. His way of apologizing to you as best he could, “Sure thing James.”
“What? How’d you know?” He thought back to anytime anybody had called him that name he so rarely heard.
Grinning you couldn’t stop the sudden smile that graced your face, “Rodgers.”
“Bastard.” Both of you joined in laughter for the first but definitely not last time.

• my main blog is spenceralexdutton so I’ll follow back from that one!
• I have read the comics (Thunderbolts is my fave tbh - Bucky and Kobik🥹)
• I want to write Bucky with everyone 😂 AUs, readers, Natasha (again, comics fan), Steve Rogers (love Stucky), and OCs. I could even get behind some Bucky/Peggy! Got an idea? Send it over!
• I have roleplayed Bucky before, in case anyone is still doing that, I’m all up for RPing! GUIDELINES ARE HERE
• I’m working on my rules, master list, etc. Once they’re ready I’ll post them here :)
• I’d like to find some reading challenges! Tag me if you’re hosting one!
• Wanna just scream about how much we love Bucky? Message me!
