‼️I think a great message Taylor put in ttpd is that she’s mad at the fans…and good for her. Many fans still don’t see her as human, as a real person, just some toy they can manipulate to entertain them and fit their narrative. Many fans think their entitled to her personal life too: the letter for her to stop dating matty (yes I think Matty sucks but that was just weird af), speculation on who each song is about, the extreme discourse after her and joe broke up, the gaylor shit, even the talk about her and Travis. Taylor is finally saying it is weird to talk about REAL PEOPLE like that, like they’re tv show characters or your little toys. None of us are entitled to Taylor’s personal life and it is extremely odd to believe you should have a say in it. As Taylor says, NO the fans cannot come to the wedding, because we’re JUST FANS. Even now, some swifties need to see Taylor doesn’t know you, she’s not your best friend, not your sister. She makes music for us. She’s not trying to be a little circus for you to direct.

anyways, taylor is a real human, not a puppet. her personal life is hers, not your circus. and taylor doesn’t know you. she appreciates the fans for giving her her career, for listening to the music, but she has never met you; she. is. not. your. friend.‼️

Sometimes I get enraged with my past self. I hate that I let so much happen! "you should've known" "you should've said something" "you should've done things differently" but then I realize that post betrayal me is talking. Post hurt me is thinking. My past self was simply doing what she could and what she knew, she wasn't trained for when people took advantage of her good heart and good intentions, she didn't have a class on betrayal to which she could study for and attain gold stars from. She just drank her coffee, read her books, lived her life and gave every little ounce of love and every fibre of her being to those she loved bc when she loves, she loves hard.

And suddenly I'm grateful that she carried me all the way here and suddenly I'm thankful for her and how strong she was. And suddenly I want to hug her

it's not about jesus holy fuck, i mean, it is, but it isn't.

Dear Wormwood is a concept album that uses biblical symbolism to talk about an abusive relationship. The Oh Hellos have a whole ass THING about retelling stories (biblical, mythological etc) to use to deal with your own story which is like...a whole thing in storytelling anyway (the new testament is a monomyth yall, Hero's Journey 1.0, in that regard everything is biblical)

Dear Wormwood is put in the context of someone writing letters (inspired by The Screwtape Letters, CS Lewis) to their abuser. "Soldier, Poet, King" is from the perspective of the protagonist, on the receiving end of the abuse, who (after the song "Exeunt") is escaping from the abuse and attempting to continue their life outside of it. The person who is the soldier, poet, king, is the protagonist. "your city" is the abusive relationship. "Wormwood" is the devil of this person's life.

If you look on Genius, yeah the story is about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. In context? It's about the Second Coming of the protagonist. The rebirth they get after escaping.

The ending song of the album, "Thus Always to Tyrants", the last line of the album is

Where I go, will you still follow? Will you leave your shaded hollow? Will you greet the daylight looming? Learn to love without consuming?

The protagonist is attempting to mentally escape from the abuse, worried about carrying the trauma into the next relationship.

Soldier Poet King is not about Jesus. It's about fighting. It's about escaping the cycle of abuse. It's about the power that resides in stories, about people who have experienced this before and succeeded. It's about using those stories and learning from them.

Keep the shit on your dnd playlist, it's sort of the whole point.

seen a interesting post on Twitter regarding the pencil line from Till, that said that this line signifies that Ivan WAS on Tills mind, especially since this was a incident that happened when they were young, and that this was his way of saying "I see you"

Really now....truthfully I didn't know how else to read pencil.exe other than Till just wanting his pencil back, but hearing this I feel like my eyes were opened

Ivan has been said to have a perk for stealing Till's things and giving them back to him like an evil secret Santa, and I always found it odd why he was never told off for it, Till is smart, and has been smart since he was a kid, surely he would catch onto the fact that all these trinkets of his were stolen and just so miraculously found by Ivan? I think the dude just genuinely didn't mind, letting Ivan humor himself since at least he wasn't gatekeeping his stuff. And so the pencil, why would he have such a care for it anyway? well, the goodbye cards were made when Ivan and Till were ultimately about to be separated, I think their relationship may have strained a bit after they all passed,(?) something had to happen because the way Till was about the pencil was the most indirect question alluding to a direct statement I've ever seen. Till was so utterly focused on Mizi but a part of him did want to keep Ivan close when they were kids, why this was the way to regard that? why he couldn't do anything else? well, I guess this was just the most kid Till with his mixed feelings about Ivan could do, because even if he saw Ivan as a nuisance i myself am sure that he considered Ivan a close friend despite Ivan thinking he didn't.

I also found some context and it stated that Till already had his pencil back. Ivan had found it for him, so whats with mentioning it now? I think that was Till's attempt to get Ivan to talk to him again and explain himself so that Till could swing in and try to build their friendship back. Ivan was always on Till's mind and he cared deeply about him, the pencil was only an excuse to say "I see you, I will always remember you." but Till just didn't have the greatest methods of getting that across to Ivan,

And I assume they never did approach the topic of the pen so Ivan and Till never got the chance to talk again and steadily grew apart, and here we are now. but at least we have some idea that Till didn't really hate Ivan or something, this is a plausible take on the deeper meaning of pencil.exe imo.

re this post by @stat-e-ofgrace, i also think it’s especially notable how ttpd was made in the last 2 years when taylor’s career was booming and joe’s career was not, and we know for a fact that he has/had career anxiety. and we saw taylor pull back (even when she didn’t have to) for months and months on end and just be here for a week during the release weeks. despite her not exposing herself, she was bigger than ever, and i just think other than all the things she may have reflected on that were concerning to her about the relationship, she also saw how she made herself small and put in effort, but it was in vain. and mayhaps there was envy there on his part in some shape or form. and she left him as soon as her tour and her life exploded because she just knew that maybe her being this successful for a long time was a hard limit of sorts. yeah he was fine with it when she was having her “turn” and wasn’t as huge as now in rep/lover era, but then it was his “turn” and he failed (due to the pandemic and other reasons), but she didn’t and she emerged higher than ever.

this long rant to say that maybe in hindsight she’s realized that it wasn’t the most healthy and there was some envy.

I think the realization every writer hates to have , is that what defines a good story is not by the plot or the idea. What defines a good story comes down to the writing. Can you properly articulate your characters emotions?. Can you make readers feel something with your writing?. And that's the hardest part of writing because honestly anyone can be a writer but only very few people can be good writers. I have read countless of books with amazing plot, underutilized ideas and badly written scenes but I think to myself these writers are faultless because they are relatively new to the scene and good writers aren't born, nobody starts off with beautifully written books, honestly your first few books will probably be trash LOL. But I think the beauty of writing is that, with every book you write, every chapter you write, every sentence you construct, ever character you build, every writers block you have, every random urge to write you get. You become a better writer, you grow, you learn and let me tell you the journey won't be smooth or easy but it's worth it. but not just everyone can stick out till the end and that's what make good writers. Good writers are the ones that stuck through everything, every critics, every failure, every disappointment and not necessarily because they love writing that much,but because writing is them it's who they are. They are first writers before anything else.
