do i smell a little hurt harley on the horizon? a little harley angst? a little chance for harley to show peter that it really doesnt matter what happens or might happen to him—it’s his choice and he’s made it?
in chapter 16? a little bit, but not much. in 17&18? yes. in the sequel, which will be both peter’s pov AND harley’s pov? a LOT. like. A LOT. so much. omg.

OKAY! This is going to be an extreeeemely long post with my various WandaVision theories! SPOILERS ahead for episodes 1-5, so tread carefully if you haven’t seen them yet! Also, buckle in for a lot of reading haha...
- Agnes is Agatha Harkness
This theory is pretty widely accepted but in case you haven’t heard it yet/need a reminder of what the theory is: Agatha Harkness is a witch in the comic books. She is an agent of Mephisto (basically the devil in the MCU, a sorcerer who is super powerful & does trades/grants wishes but in a monkey’s paw kind of way) and also acts as Wanda’s mentor when she is training. She is there to help Wanda realize her full potential. Reasons for this theory being accepted are:
1. Agnes = AGatha HarkNESs
Pretty self explanatory, this one.
2. One piece of evidence everyone likes to point to is that Agnes is ALWAYS wearing a brooch, much like Agatha.
In a similar vein, Agnes dresses up like a witch in the Halloween episode (which we get tonight!!). The third comic-y reason is that she says her anniversary with Ralph (whom we NEVER see) is June 2nd, which is the start of the Salem Witch Trials. Agatha Harkness was one of the witches at Salem.
3. She (especially in episode 5) keeps showing up at the exact right time to help Wanda however she needs it. Examples include her showing up to welcome Wanda to the neighborhood and plan the dinner with Vision, bringing her along to the neighborhood planning committee, helping Wanda with the boys (showing up when they’re crying, the doghouse). She is always there, basically acting as a guide for Wanda in the town.
3. She knows that this is a fake world and that Wanda has some control over what happens. This is most clearly evidenced in episode 5 when she says “Do you want me to run that again?” She also doesn’t notice/care that Wanda has magic, which anyone else in the town would. Also - anyone else notice how she overacts constantly? (In a good way - I love Kathryn Hahn)
Which brings me to theory two:
Agnes/Agatha Harkness is the one in control, not Wanda - or at the very least, is using her power to try to influence Wanda’s actions.
1. Agatha is an agent of Mephisto. I think that she is acting on his orders to make this town and Wanda’s life in it the way that it is. Multiple reasons for this, but the main one for me is episode 5 (On A Very Special Episode), she clearly has control over/intimate knowledge of what’s happening inside the WandaVis household. How else would she know to show up when the twins are crying, or when they bring in a new dog? Other sketch things:
2. The boys only ever age up (or attempt to age up) when Agnes is there. I think that she is the one who is making them do that. If she can control every single person in town’s actions and speech, who’s to say she can’t control and manipulate the magic twins’ powers as well?
3. She clearly* killed Sparky, likely in order to try to help Wanda realize how powerful she really is and bring in the idea that she can bring people back to life. It may even be possible that Agnes wants to bring back a specific person but can’t without Wanda’s powers. *To me, it’s clear, because when she walked into the kitchen, Sparky almost killed himself with the electricity but didn’t, and then of course she “found him” in her azaleas.
4. Norm never specifies who “she” is that’s in his head.
MOVING ON TO THEORY THREE:
SWORD and (Acting) Director Hayward are sketchy as fuck, and likely are doing some evil shit and trying to pin it on Wanda.
I don’t mean this to say that SWORD is the organization that put the town in the hex, or is the one that is controlling everything that's happening, but I think it's very clear that there's something going on behind the scenes that they don't want us to know. There are lots of different ways that you can see this, but some of the ones that are most important are as follows:
1. SWORD is clearly developing weapons which Monica highlights when she says, “it also says observation and response on that door not creation.” This is apparently against the mission of SWORD itself, which does not lead to a super trustworthy organization.
2. Director Hayward is clearly trying to place blame on Wanda for things she either didn’t do or didn’t control. The clearest example of this is when he is giving his speech in Episode 5 after Monica comes back, and Jimmy Woo was speaking. Hayward keeps interrupting to explain how Wanda is evil - she joined Hydra (as Jimmy says, it’s more complicated than that), she purposefully hurt people in Lagos (it was an accident), she fought against the Avengers (before gaining their trust and joining them). (Also, side note, I love Jimmy Woo and how kind he is. We need more Jimmy Woo in the MCU).
3. The video that he shares of Wanda breaking into SWORD...not a single. person. in the SWORD lobby turns, notices, or reacts at all to Wanda walking in, violently throwing open doors, and basically stealing a corpse. I don’t know about you, but if I worked in a secure and secretive government facility, and a rogue Avenger that’s been gone for 5 years just suddenly appeared and was using her powers to break down doors and steal a secret project, I’d probably at LEAST turn and look.
3a. I’m honestly not even sure that that’s Wanda vs. a body double, like, there’s a reason that the only power they showed was her opening a door, breaking glass, and gently coming down into the room - all things that can be easily faked. You’re telling me that SWORD, in all their advanced tech, space travel, science, money, you’re telling me that the best visuals they have are 1. barely in color 2. blurry and 3. don’t show close-ups of her face? I think that it wasn’t Wanda who took Vision’s body, and I think the footage was fabricated.
4. CLEARLY - SWORD has been experimenting on Vision. Whether to revive him, recreate his technology, whatever, it is explicitly stated that that is against his living will and the Sokovia Accords. IF (and I think it’s a big if...) Wanda did violently break in to steal his body, it would likely be to protect him and make sure he is being honored, not make him into a weapon.
NEXT THEORY!
VISION IS ALIVE - and no, Wanda is not just puppeteering his corpse (this is one of the worst theories I’ve heard about WandaVision and I hate it and if I never hear it again it’ll be too soon)
1. I have several reasons to think this. First, if he weren’t alive, why would we have so many scenes of just Vision, or scenes where Vision is figuring out that something is wrong?
2. In the trailers, we see Vision leaving the boundaries of the hex (to be fair, I haven’t watched any of the new trailers, because I don’t want any spoilers) - BUT - how could he do that if he weren’t his own being?
3. I genuinely do not think that Marvel is going to make us watch Vision die again. Not a third time.
How is he alive? I think that there’s obviously an extreme amount of Mind Stone energy within Wanda, and I’m sure that there’s a world in which she could transfer some of that energy to Vision and help bring him back. Not entirely sure of the methodology to be fair, but I just have a feeling in my heart.
OKAY ON TO RANDOM THEORIES THAT I BELIEVE BUT HAVE NO EVIDENCE FOR:
1. Monica came out of the Hex with powers - my only reasoning being that her brain scan and her blood draws were both inconclusive/blank.
2. Wanda isn’t lying when she says she doesn’t know how this started or what’s happening. I think she has more control than most people in town, but I think that’s more that she is a little tuned in to the frequencies of the town than that she started it all. But I really think that Agnes is in control.
3. OH PIETRO - He’s the Evan Peters Quicksilver instead of ATJ (rip) because Agnes had to search through the multiverse for him - she can’t bring people back to life (Wanda can though...ATJ i’m holding out hope...). So anyway, she just searched through the universes and found the closest thing to Pietro that she could.
4. Aerospace engineer that Monica knows might be Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic. (The Fantastic 4 and the X-Men have a long history with Agatha Harkness, so it would make sense to bring those characters in now that Disney is able to)
5. Dottie is also a witch - she’s not identified on the magnet board with the other townspeople, she’s in control of some things.
6. Hayward might be Mephisto in disguise, who knows.
7. Magneto is going to come back at the end of the series i have no real reason to believe this
8. I don’t trust the post man.
OKAY THAT’S ALL I have to go back to work and this is way too long please send me all your theories :)

So, I wrote a one shot on Loceit, and it was kinda based in the flirty wave things that Janus just LOVES doing at Logan, but it feels kinda forced into it, but I tried my best so... I saw @totallybelievabledude's post and I wanted to write that.
Sorry if it's not what you wanted, but I'm pretty proud if it. 🥰
Anyway:
It was the middle of an argument, well, not necessarily an argument, more of a debate. Well, no one knows what to call it, but it was Deceit, Patton, Roman. Logan occasionally popped up with some facts here and there.
Deceit had been impersonating Logan for a little bit throughout the argument debate thingy because he knew the sides wouldn’t listen to him, and he just liked doing anything involving his boyfriend, well, secret boyfriend. The others didn’t know, and they didn’t need to. Plus, it would be weird to pop up as Virgil and just be like, “Hey, so you know how I hate Deceit? I think we should listen to him, I STILL HATE HIM THOUGH!”
So, that brings us about to where Logan came back, the real one.
“Not that any of you care-”
“Oh shit, shit.”
Deceit hid his face while Logan continued.
“I am unharmed and I don’t want to talk about it.”
Deceit smirked, he knew exactly why Logan didn’t want to talk about it, but we won’t go there.
“I’m just here to deliver one last fact and spare you my company.”
Deceit waved at Logan, much like how he did during the first Selfishness vs Selflessness fight, Logan got all flustered the first time, so it would probably work out the second time.
Patton went to say something, probably telling him that everyone enjoys him being around, but Logan interrupted.
“PETER SINGER-”
Deceit guessed he had to shout to get everyone’s attention, or he was just discombobulated from the wave, who knew. He wondered where Logan was going with this, Deceit recognized the name, but he couldn’t remember who the guy was or where he heard of him from.
“Is an Australian philosopher and activist who champions the movement called 'Effective Altruism'. The primary feature that differentiates Effective Altruism from other moral philosophies is its practicality. It employs the heart, and the mind so that Effective Altruism can earn its namesake and actually… be effective.”
Deceit was confused. Was Logan gonna agree with him? Were the others finally going to see he’s not that bad?
“The aim is to help as many people as possible while maintaining a "Perfectly Adequate standard of living'. So a poor, sick person giving five of their last fifteen cents to an aid organization, while incredibly altruistic, is not effective altruism because that money won’t go very far, and the act would only harm that person’s already unacceptable standard of living.”
Logan was on Deceit’s side! Logan, the logical side, the side that everyone ended up listening to at the end of the day, he was 100% on Deceit’s side! He wasn’t kind of agreeing, only to say that Deceit was wrong. Nope, he was agreeing with every point Deceit had made so far.
Deceit didn’t know if Logan was just biased, but damn did it feel good.
~~
Deceit threw himself onto Logan’s bed, he landed face down and groaned. Logan, who was behind him chuckled.
“What’s the problem?”
Deceit sat up.
“That was tense. Now come here.”
Logan tilted his head, but he sat on the bed next to Deceit. Deceit had a lazy smirk as he pulled Logan onto his lap, he rested his head on Logan’s shoulder and wrapped his arms around Logan’s torso.
There was a knock on Logan’s door.
“I’m doing something currently, I’ll be able to come down in 30 minutes.”
Deceit smirked as he heard the person walk away, he used Logan’s voice. A perk, he thought. He was able to copy the side’s voices while not having to appear like them. Logan sighed, knowing Deceit would whine if he moved, and in all honesty, he didn’t want to move. He moved so that he was lying across his boyfriend's lap, instead of sitting on it.
“My head was comfy! Traitor.”
Logan shrugged at Deceit’s mock betrayed tone. He grabbed a book that was on his bed. A Series of Unfortunate Events. Logan found himself enjoying this series, even if it was quite different from the books he usually read.
Deceit started to run his hand through Logan’s hair, and suddenly, Logan found that he couldn’t focus on the book.
“Do you think the others will be suspicious that you agreed with me?”
Logan shrugged, he rested his head on the mattress and looked at his boyfriend.
“Even if they are, it’s not like they’ll expect something like this.”
They were both quiet for a while, both enjoying the comfortable silence. Then there was another knock on Logan’s door. Deceit rolled his eyes.
“Yes?”
Logan just told him to hide, Deceit shook his head and smirked.
“Uh, you ok buddy? You’ve been up here for like, an hour more than you said you would be.”
Logan looked at his watch, Roman was right.
“I guess I got too interested in the book I was reading. Sorry, I'll be down in a second.”
Logan stood up and stretched, Deceit got up after him. Deceit placed a chaste kiss on Logan’s cheek and waved. It was the same flirtatious wave he’s been doing, it always made Logan blush.
Deceit then teleported, or you could call it fast traveled, there wasn’t a name for it, but Deceit did that to the dark side of the mind place.
“Where were you all day?”
Remus had an eyebrow lifted and his head tilted in confusion.
“There was a dilemma, and it seemed like they needed me.”
Remus nodded.
“I’m gonna go microwave this fork. I’ll tell you what happens.”
Remus ran away, and Deceit chased him. Luckily, Deceit managed to catch Remus before he could put the fork in the microwave, but then he heard the microwave go off in the kitchen.
“What did you do?!”
Remus shrugged, but he couldn’t contain his smile.
“I put a barbie in the microwave, and I knew if you saw it, you would take it out. It was a classic distraction method.”
Deceit groaned.
“WHY?!”
“Why not?”
Deceit covered his face with his hands.
“I swear; you scare me sometimes.”
Remus gasped and put a hand on his chest in an offended manner.
“Sometimes?!”
Remus mumbled something that Deceit couldn’t hear, well, almost.
“Must not be trying hard enough.”
Deceit shook his head.
“Please don’t try harder, I don’t want you being even more chaotic!”
Remus shrugged.
“Whatever you say.”
Remus walked away and Deceit presumed he went into his room, so Deceit went into his. He took off his coat and his under-blouse. He then put on a yellow hoodie over a white tee-shirt, he paired it with black sweatpants. He took off his hat and ran his hands through his hair.
~~
Deceit woke up to someone throwing themselves onto his bed right next to where he was, up until now, sleeping. Deceit recognized the figure next to him almost instantly, so he snaked his arm around their waist.
“You were right.”
“Of course I was dear.”
Deceit moved so that his boyfriend was pressed flush against his chest.
“Roman told Virgil what happened. Virgil didn’t like it one bit, so they called me down and started questioning me. A lot.”
Deceit nodded, knowing how upset Virgil could get. He had to deal with Virgil when he was a lot, for a lack of a better word, worse. It’s not like he ever thought Virgil was a burden, he could just get very agitated and rude when someone brought up a touchy subject, and Deceit guessed he was now a touchy subject.
“Do they know?”
Logan shook his head.
“No, I don’t think they thought of anything like that. They wanted to know if we were friends.”
Deceit hummed.
“What did you say?”
“I said no, but I didn’t necessarily mind your company. Which is true. Technically, we’re more than friends, and I don’t mind your company if anything I adore it.”
Deceit chuckled.
“You don’t have to defend lies when you’re talking to me. Literally, up until today, the other sides knew me as Deceit.”
Logan shrugged and rolled over so that he was now facing Deceit. Logan shoved his face into the crook of Deceit’s neck. Deceit rolled his eyes.
“Hey, Dee? Do yo-”
Remus had barged into Deceit’s room, only to find the two brain cells, as the fanders deemed them, intertwined and cuddling.
“I see you’re busy. I’ll come back later.”
Remus shut the door and walked away.
“Will he tell the others?!”
Logan looked up to his boyfriend with big doe eyes, Deceit almost died then and there.
“No, even if he does the other’s would take it as him being the cursed… thing that he is.”
From a bit away, the two heard Remus yell.
“Wear protection!”
Logan’s face lit up a bright cherry hue and he froze. Deceit laughed and rolled his eyes. Logan shoved his face back into the crook of Deceit’s neck, and Deceit could feel the heat radiating off of Logan’s face.
Deceit kissed the top of Logan’s head, and he used the arm that wasn’t around his partner's waist to play with Logan’s hair. Deceit felt Logan relax, and soon Logan started drifting off.
~~
When Logan woke up, he was on his bed. He frowned and looked around for his python partner, but Deceit was nowhere to be found. He got up and went to brush his teeth, but then he noticed a familiar yellow hoodie on his nightstand. It was neatly folded and had a note on top.
“Sorry I had to drop you off, but we wouldn’t want Remus to think we did anything besides cuddling. Since you couldn’t wake up next to me, why not wake up next to my hoodie? Eh, sorry that was bad, but I’m writing this with a quill because that’s all I have in my room, plus it looks cool.
~ Your Boa Boyfriend (Sorry again, couldn’t help myself.)
Janus”
Logan laughed at the note. He unfolded the hoodie and put it on. Despite all the sides being relatively the same height, the hoodie was a little big on Logan, even though it seemed to fit Deceit perfectly.
Anyway, when Logan walked out into the kitchen wearing a yellow hoodie, especially after siding with Deceit, the only side who wears yellow, they had even more questions. Logan just shrugged at all of them and ignored them.
It’s safe to assume that those little flirty waves that Deceit does, those really work on Logan.

Prank War
Pairing: Platonic!Peter Parker x Stark!reader (fem reader)
Word Count: 1.7k
Warnings: language
Summary: has the infamous stark vs parker prank war gone too far?
Author’s note: i seriously love writing peter so much (also I apologize that this is not a gender-neutral reader!). I think I am going to be opening up requests soon, so keep a lookout for that post :) ((also big s/o and creds to max for helping me with the guttural scream sentence))
Tumblr media
The prank war between you and Peter Parker started innocently when you would sneak up on him in your father’s lab. He would then return the favor by scaring you when you got off the elevator. You both would get so paranoid that neither of you could even go thirty minutes inside the tower without looking over your shoulder. What first started as trying to startle each other, turned into more aggressive pranks. The first one was completed by Peter, with the help of Bucky, while they gave you an oreo filled with toothpaste.
That bite of the oreo was the unfortunate beginning of the long-lasting prank war. It had been around three months now since it has first started, and everyone in the tower (especially your Dad), was wishing it could finally end once and for all.
The pranks have included you putting plastic in front of your bedroom door, then proceeding to yell for him because of an “emergency”. Peter has always been protective of you, like an older brother, so he ran as quickly as he could. His face slammed into the plastic, attaching itself to him, and he went flying forwards to the ground. You also put plastic on his shampoo bottles, underneath the lid, and it took him a solid ten minutes to figure out why his shampoo was not coming out.
He also got you good a few times, including replacing the saltshaker with sugar. That one was just cruel because Peter knows how much you love salt with your dinner, and he ruined an entire meal. He also would constantly hide fake bugs and snakes inside your room and you always would end up shrieking at first sight. They were just so realistic-looking from far away!
The last prank that occurred was when you put tape on the bottom of Peter’s computer mouse, making him believe that it was broken. You only revealed it was a prank when he started to order himself a new one online. You knew that it was your turn to get pranked next, and you had been on edge all week. It had been six days, and usually, they would occur only four to five days afterward.
“Have you seen Pete?” you asked your Dad who was down in his lab working on some nanotech. He shook his head and continued to focus on the work in front of him. You groaned dramatically and shuffled to the hallway. Maybe some of the other Avengers knew his whereabouts. It was a Sunday, and usually, he spent it inside the tower either working on homework for school or engineering something in the lab.
“Sam, Steve, you guys seen Peter anywhere?” you peered your head inside the training room.
“I haven’t sorry,” Steve replied while wrapping his knuckles with tape, getting ready to train with Sam.
“I swear to god if he is up to something,” you mumble to yourself. You felt on edge, and you wished you could have “senses” like Peter does (even though for some reason he almost always fails to see your pranks coming).
You walked up the stairs to the kitchen and common area but there was still no sign of the brown-haired boy. Vision and Wanda were busy cooking dinner when you sat down at the counter. You knew that both of them would be able to tell you where Peter was because of their powers.
“Wandaaaa, Visionnnn,” you sing-songed. “Do you guys happen to know where the spider-ling is?”
“Oh yes, he is,” Vision started to say but Wanda took a spoonful of whatever she was cooking and plopped it into his mouth.
“Taste this,” she said, staring into Visions’ eyes. She looked back over at you innocently, “No, we haven’t seen him anywhere! I think he might have gone out on a day patrol”
“Day patrol?” you scoffed. “On a Sunday?”
“Yes,” Wanda gave you the sweetest smile she could muster.
“Alright, whatever you guys say.” You stood up from the counter and headed back up the stairs to your bedroom. You didn’t want to waste one of your free days with worrying about Peter and whatever he had planned for his prank, and the more you thought about it, you realized that this is probably exactly what he wanted. He wanted you to expect him to do it on a Sunday, and have you worried about all day.
“Think you can outsmart me, Spidey?” you mutter under your breath. Once you entered your room, you threw yourself onto your bed and grabbed your phone from the charger. You wanted to do a little work out in the privacy of your room instead of the training room. You connected your phone to the speakers in your wall and shuffled your work out playlist. You were already wearing your work out shorts, but you decided that you would be too hot with the sweatshirt you had on, so you ripped it off, leaving you in just your sports bra, and you sat on the ground so you could start doing sit-ups.
“Holy shit,” a voice spoke from above you. A guttural scream ripped through your throat as your eyes shot up the ceiling.
“Peter? What the fuck?” you quickly grabbed your shirt and threw it on top of you as Peter hopped down from the ceiling. He was wearing his suit, but without his mask. His cheeks were as red as a tomato and his lips were pinched together as he stared at you with wide eyes.
“I-I, t-thought,” he stammered.
“What are you doing in my room? On my ceiling?” you raised your voice. “Is that part of the prank war!?”
“You usually take naps on Sundays so I was going to wait for you to fall asleep and then scare you!” he confessed, throwing his arms around wildly.
“Peter that is messed up,” you scolded him. “And freaking creepy!”
“It would have been so good though! Plus how was I supposed to know you were going to work out in here, that is what the training room is for!”
“It’s my room, Parker.” You crossed your arms and glared at him. “How did you even get in here? My room is locked.”
“The window.”
“The window!?” you practically let out of a laugh. You were astonished at what lengths Peter was going to, to try to win this prank war.
“It would have worked if you had just taken a nap!”
“You can not blame this on me, sir,” you pointed a finger at him. “This has gone too far, and your prank failed, which means I won!”
“No way! You did not win! My pranks have been way better than yours!”
“As if!” you took a step closer towards him. You were starting to get angry, and you could feel your body get warm with frustration.
“Your pranks suck!” he spat.
“You’re the one that still falls for them even though you have a Peter tingle,” you mocked.
“Don’t call it that, Stark.” Peter tried to take a step towards you so he could tower over you but you shoved his shoulders, causing him to stumble backward.
“Your peter tingle literally does not work.”
“Shut up!” he shouted but you grabbed the cup of water that was sitting on your desk and splashed him in his face. He looked at you in disbelief from underneath his wet brown curls.
“Got you again, Parker,” your eyes narrowed.
“Ahh!” Peter yelled and before you knew it your hand was webbed to the cup you were holding.
“Peter Benjamin Parker!” you shrieked. “You are not allowed to use your webs on me!” You ran towards him, trying to grab onto his hair with your free hand, but Peter dodged you. He ran out of your room but you quickly followed him.
“S’cuse me!” Peter said as he turned the corner and almost ran into Steve.
“Get the fuck back here!” you chased after him.
“Language!” Steve yelled behind you, but you ignored him. Peter was already rushing down the stairs and you did not want to lose him. You were surprised at how difficult it was to chase someone while holding a cup that was webbed to your hand.
“Peter!” you chased him all the way down to the labs. You stopped suddenly as you saw Peter being held by your Dad.
“What have I told you guys with running in the house? There is outside for a reason!”
“He started it!”
“She started it!” you both shouted at the same time. Tony let go of Peter and rubbed his temples.
“Peter, I expect more out of you, especially when you are wearing that suit. You don’t want me to take it away, right?”
“No, Sir,” he shook his wet head.
“Now, Y/N. You’re a Stark so I do expect this from you but can you please just leave it alone? I’m so tired of this prank war you guys have going on.” Tony put air quotes around “prank war”.
“He snuck into my room through my window! He invaded my privacy and then webbed my hand to the cup!” I shook the cup furiously. You heard Peter giggle, and you shot him a death glare.
“Peter,” Tony turned to look at the frightened boy. “Say you’re sorry and I better never hear about you sneaking into my daughter’s room again, you hear me?”
“Yes, s-sir.”
“Now, go get the web dissolver and I expect you two to be on your best behavior or I will ground you both!”
“Yes, sir,” you both mumble. You follow Peter to his desk in Tony’s lab and open up a bottle that was labeled ‘web-be-gone’.
“You need a better name for this stuff,” you tease.
“Why? I like the name.” He placed a few drops on your hand and soon it was let free of the cup.
“It needs more pizazz.”
“True,” he chuckled. “I’m sorry I snuck into your room. You’re right, it was an invasion of your privacy.”
“It’s okay. I’m sorry I pushed you and threw water in your face.”
“I’m sorry I webbed your hand.”
“I’m sorry you got in trouble with my Dad.”
“I’m sorry-”
“Okay, I think that’s enough apologies, you interrupted him, laughing. “We good?”
“We good,” Peter smiled. He raised his hand for a fist bump.
“Good.” You connected knuckles with him and pulled away while making a “whoosh” sound.

The Thing That Lives Under The Bed -- The Conclusion
This it the Coda for The Thing That Lives Under The Bed.
Did you wonder what Peter and his friends did once they got their hands on ALL those spellbooks?  Maybe you were curious what would happen if Peter performed the spell of the Kings of the East and the King of the West, splitting Tony in two?
I will be posting one chapter a day #OnHere, in honor of the place where the story began.
                             -------------------------------------------------------
                                               Adulthood
                                   The Trap and The Bait
In addition to realizing that he is in love with the thing that lives under his bed, Peter Parker and his friends have also discovered an underground library full of spellbooks, spirits calling out to be freed and the promise of any number of superpowers.
You may be wondering what they did next.
You are getting closer to the answer.
Tumblr media
The twenty-six year old High-High Priest could have simply run down the path, but sometimes Peter Parker was just overcome with the need to leap around like a character from a comic book.  Under any other circumstances Angel would have complimented him.  Certainly Angel had read his fair share of comics himself (from Monica’s and Peter’s childhood stashes.  Angel prided himself on the fact that he could hold up in own in any heated Bob Keen vs Alan Moore debate) but, at the moment, the only image in his mind was that of a mouse in a trap.
Peter was wearing the same suit that he had arrived home in, the same one he usually wore on Capitol Hill when he was schmoozing senators about the Clean Water act or another EPA bill.  The tie was gone, and the shirt was opened at the collar.  The suit itself should have been rumpled from his journey through the trees, but it must have been one of the enchanted ones.  Not that Peter Parker would have minded in any case.  It wasn’t his only expensive suit.
He was devastatingly handsome in the moonlight, but Angel knew that the man was devastatingly handsome everywhere.  Everyone thought so.
The weak and infirm flocked to the Lavern Post Healing Center from far and wide.  Either they were healed by Dr. Cyprian, or they were convinced by Laura-Bee that it was their destiny to find treatment elsewhere.  But all them, every one, commented on Peter Parker and his movie-star good looks.  Even Matty, the High Priest, reluctantly admitted that, even though he stayed behind to cast the convincing-spells, it was Peter’s good looks that really opened doors for him when Peter set out for [the directions to the White House.]  Laura-Bee, of course, was always happy to tell, in loving detail, about the first time she had laid eyes on handsome Peter Parker.  About the day the first met, about how they were childhood sweethearts.
Laura’s super-power was mesmerism, and she didn’t use it very often.
But when she told stories of her childhood, you couldn’t help but feel like you were falling right into her memory.  As if you, yourself were walking home from Robert E Lee school, walking down the dirt road, desperate to hold Peter’s hand lovingly and listen to him describe every detail of Silent Spring.  Every long-time member of the Post Homestead had heard that story.  Maybe that's why every member of the Post Homestead felt like they had been in love with Peter Parker their entire life.  That Peter Parker was the only man they had truly ever loved, and that they, too, would be married to Peter if Peter weren’t married to Dr. Tony Cyprian.
And they were.  In love with Peter Parker, even if only for a little while.  Every guest seemed to fall for him too, if not romantically… well... they all seemed to be a little hot for him.  Even the guests that chose to stay in the Abe Sexton Library suites (recommended for all the straight-laced practitioners, the ones who weren’t interested in the Homestead’s attitude toward sexual freedom) lay in their beds and night and fantasized about the devastatingly handsome and dead-sexy Peter Parker.  Angel knew.
Angel knew it all.
And Angel was certainly in love with the man himself.
Which was ridiculous, of course.  Imagine… being hopelessly in love with the Peter Parker, the man loved by politicians, Disciples and demons.  Fabulously wealthy parishioners flocked to him to be rid of their pain and their guilt, side by side with big-name lawmakers from Capitol Hill, all succumbing to his charm and openly trying to introduce him to their daughters.  Imagine a man like that even looking twice at him.  At him, a scrawny, dirty, sunken-eyed miscreant with a wild unruly hair and a perpetually bad attitude.
Of course, Peter Parker was looking at him now.
His handsome face looked perplexed, taking in Angel, the lapping water, and then the rock.  He looked back at Angel, barefoot and trembling at the water’s edge.  He didn’t look angry at all, but he did look like a man in a hurry.  He was panting a little.  Gracefully he stepped down to the sand where Angel stood.
“Angel?  Sweetheart… what are you doing?”
“I don’t want to go back,” Angel cried out.  Hating the petulant, childish sound of his voice, hating the way his throat felt too tight to speak at all.  “I won’t go.  You can’t make me.”
“What are you talking about?  Of course I could make you…”
For just a moment, Angel saw it.
Peter Parker was a handsome man with kind eyes (and he could be kind, oh he could be so very kind) but he was also a master magician, the leader of a coven of magicians, each commanding their own army of spirits.  (Any minute now Angel was expecting Plucky to turn the plants into bindweed to hold him down or Moonlight to appear and force him back to the ceremony with silent, pleading eyes.)  Peter Parker wasn’t just the darling of Capitol Hill and a brilliant environmentalist crusader, rubbing elbows with chieftains and royalty and Heads of State.  He was also a formidable wizard who had summoned his first demon at the age of 13, a man of incredible natural power, a man feared by mortals and devils alike.
For just a moment Angel saw that man, that other powerful man, flash across Peter’s face.
Then it was gone.
“But I don’t want to make you.  I’m not going to give you orders.  You’re not my slave.  But… but I don’t understand...”  His face and his voice was gentle as he stepped closer.   “Angel, please help me understand what’s happening.  You’ve never run away from a ritual before.  We called for you, but you were nowhere.  Even Anton couldn’t say where you were.  What are you doing?”
“I don’t want to… please.  Please, I don’t want to go.  I know what the High Priest wants to do to me.  I know what Anton is going to do to me – I know what the bones are for.  The black-cat bones.  The ones you keep in the back of the refrigerator  Please, Mr. Parker, please don’t make me.”
“Mr. Park…?”  Peter looked completely baffled.  He took a few hesitant steps forward, until he was almost within arms reach.
He didn’t look in the least bit out of place, wearing that expensive, glad-hander suit and standing on the banks of the lake by moonlight.  But Peter Parker never looked out of place anywhere.  He had a very convincing personality.
Angel was almost convinced himself.
“Baby, you’re confused.  Why would you be afraid of… I don’t even…why are you calling me Mr. Parker?  Oh god…”
He looked behind him at the black sky.  The moon, one day passed full, shown down on them like an all-seeing eye.  He groaned. “I waited too late, dammit I knew I shouldn’t have.  And you’re shaking like a leaf, just look at you…”
Peter reached for him and Angel started to back away, but then his bare feet splashed in the water.  He yelped in terror and leapt away from it.  That meant there was nowhere else to go, but directly into Peter’s arms.
Peter pulled him close, easily fitting Angel’s head into the crook of his neck, wrapping muscular arms around Angel’s skinny body and pulling him close.  There was no helping it.  Angel wrapped his boney arms around Peter’s body and clung to him, shivering.
“Oh god, I told them not to feed you but… I made a mistake, didn’t I?  I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have stayed in Kenya for so long, I pushed it too far, I’m so sorry.  The things Princess Shuri told me were so huge… it was all so important and I thought I had more time.  Matty told me I had more time.  Amado,I didn’t mean to hurt you.  This is all my fault.  Please forgive me.  I should have taken better care of you.”
Angel pressed his slight body against the firm body of the taller man and held himself there.  Against that strength, he thought he could manage to stop shaking.  He even managed to pull one hand away long enough to wipe the tears away from his cheek (then snuck that hand up to touch Peter’s face shyly for a moment.)  “Did… did you?  Get to meet with Princess Shuri at the consulate?  Are we going to be protecting the black rhinos now?”
A look passed over Peter’s face, a look Angel had never seen before.  For a moment Peter looked… doubtful.
“She wasn’t there to talk about the rhinos,” he said quietly, look away, gazing out at the moonlit lake.  “It was a trap.  Well… not a trap, but… but Shuri was definitely the bait.”
“She betrayed you?”  Angel asked in horror.  He would be angry, would be shaking in impotent rage... if he weren’t so surprised.  How could anyone deceive the High-High Priest?   How could anyone meet Peter Parker and not adore him with everything they had inside?
The strong man laughed ruefully.  “I don’t suppose it’s really ‘betrayal’ to lie to a man you’ve met twice because your brother asks you to do it.
“Angel... Shuri and T'Challa are… well the word is “enhanced” now.  I suppose ‘superhero’ sounds too childish.  But T'Challa is just like me… we both inherited some ancient magic that was a hell of a lot bigger than we ever expected and a hell of a lot more than we ever bargained for.  Trust me, we talked for hours.  Unlike me, he grew up knowing what he was getting into… but he’s still been given a lot more than he wanted.  And just like me…”
Peter’s arms tightened around Angel has looked sadly at his domain.  He looked into the forest, across the lake, then up at Dead Oak Hill, bathed in the erie torchlight.  “… we just want to be left alone to play Comic-Books with our friends in our own tiny corner of the world that we’re king of..  Unlike me, he thinks he’s ready to join the grown-ups in the real world.  I’m not so sure.  Angel they want me to…”
He caught himself suddenly, as if he had forgotten who he was talking to.  He shook his head.  “I can’t really talk about it yet.  But it’s big, Angel.  It’s really big.  I can’t tell the others until I’ve talked to Tony.  Which means I have to take care of you first.  Look at you…”
Peter tightened his arms again, gazing into Angel’s eyes with a tender look.  He brushed his lips against Angel’s forehead in a tiny kiss.
“Angel,” he whispered, “…are you afraid?  What on earth could you be afraid of?  Nothing scares you.  You’re fearless.  Baby, please tell me what’s going on.”
Angel looked up into Peter’s face, so perfect and so beautiful in the moonlight.  He struggled to remember… he had been afraid, only now he couldn’t quite remember why.  There was something wrong with him, something terribly wrong, but now he couldn’t quite remember…
…until he did.
“Don’t let them send me away… please don’t.  I don’t want to go, please don’t make me go through the ceremony.  Please, Peter.  I can’t.  I can’t leave you.
“I love you,” he blurted, choking on the confession.  He found himself blushing, his whole body flushing at the secret words said aloud.  “I love you so much.  I know I’m not… I know I’m not anyone… I know I’m just a ragged, spoiled-rotten kid that weighs next to nothing and bugs everybody and I know I’m a constant nuisance and I know that I’m not someone important like a princess or a senator… but I love you.  I’ve never loved anyone as much as I love you.”
Peter’s forehead wrinkled in concern, his mouth hanging open in surprise.
“Angel, Angel sweetheart, do you see?   You’re so confused baby… oh can you… oh god how is this happening??
“Angel, how could you forget that I love you?”
Peter’s mouth on his was sweet and gentle and warm.  The kiss was tender and loving and everything Angel had imagined it would be.  Peter’s arms were strong and solid and he held Angel as if he never wanted to let him go.  It was a dream come true…
…and that was the problem.  Frantically Angel pulled away, trying to look around him.  Maybe this was a dream… maybe Laura-Bee was there with him, holding his hand and telling him the story, over and over and over again, of how she had fled across Lovesick Lake on the darkest night of her life, and there found the man that could take all her fear away just by holding her hand.
But Laura wasn’t there.  He and Peter were alone in the moonlight, kissing on the banks of Virgin Lake.  Peter was warm and strong and solid and suddenly all Angel could think was… hadn’t they done this all before?  Hadn’t they held each other like this, kissed each other like this, on the same night as the ceremony?  Was that why it felt so much like a memory?
“Do you remember Amado?” Peter was whispering.  “Try… try to remember.”
“I can’t… I don’t… I keep reaching for it, but it’s not there…” Angel said through his tears.  Peter pulled him close again, tucking Angel’s head in the crook of his neck and rocking him back and forth.
“This is my fault,” he said, stroking Angel’s hair and kissing his head over and over again.  “It’s because I was sick the day of the spell, isn’t it?  I was still getting over the food poisoning, I was still weak… god I should have let Matty do the spell but I was too jealous and now look what’s happened…”
Angel was so surprised he pulled back enough to look into Peter’s face.  He wasn’t sure what startled him more, the fact that Peter could get sick, or that Peter had been jealous… of Matty?  Of Matty… and him?
“I can’t believe how badly we messed this up.  It’s always gone so smoothly, but this time…
“Angel… you told us that you had to focus on eating this year.  So you couldn’t get distracted by everything else, so you could concentrate on taking care of yourself and making yourself strong.  But all we did was make you hungry and miserable all the time, and now you’re dressing in rags and lying to everybody… Angel try to remember.”  He reached up with one hand to cup Angel’s cheek.  Angel leaned into the warm touch, closing his eyes against the pain in Peter’s face.
“You told us that if we could make you forget about the world outside the border, that you’d be content, and not feel rejected or left out while the others worked.  It was your job to stay here, to focus on yourself and to get strong.  But look at you.  You’ve forgotten what you’re supposed to be doing, you don’t remember who you are.  You’ve forgotten that you are a fierce and powerful force… and, god, you forgot that I love you…”
“I do remember, I do!  I remember you love me,” Angel said quickly, grabbing Peter’s face and kissing him hard, not because he remembered, but because he couldn’t bear the sound of Peter’s broken voice.  He only wanted Peter to be happy, couldn’t stand the idea that he had made the man feel sad.
Peter wrapped one arm around Angel’s waist and pressed their bodies together.  Angel moaned at the sensation and willingly opened his mouth to Peter’s kiss.
Maybe it didn’t matter what he did or didn’t remember.  He certainly wasn’t the first person to come to the Lavern Center to pay Dr. Cyprian to take terrible memories away, only to be extremely confused afterwards because they couldn’t remember what they had paid for.  Maybe he was even one of the wealthy clientele… (but he suspected he was more likely one of Peter’s charity cases.)  But he knew one thing, he wasn’t going to argue endlessly about it.  Year after year he had watched Laura-Bee argue patiently, then not-so-patiently, as she made her annual pilgrimage to the secret library behind Peter’s office where the reports were locked away.  That was the place for everyone else who had benefited from the Memory Therapy, but not for her.  She had never even been to that room.  Had never seen it before.
Once a year she went to that room, arguing all the way.  Once a year she sat down to listen to Monica read all the things that had been written down for her.  Once a year she had to remember that she had never been BORN Laura Foster, but legally changed from Hortense Lovelace to Laura Foster-Beeker, the day she turned 18.  All because of something horrible that her father had done, a memory she had chosen to give up completely, a memory she never wanted returned.
And he could do the same, couldn’t he?  Ask to go to the locked file cabinets to see what he had written down, to see what he had forgotten.
But not just now.
Just now he wrapped his arms around Peter’s neck (and all but wrapped one leg around his waist) and pressed his entire body against Peter’s hard, solid form.  He didn’t feel ragged or shaky or hungry when he was with Peter.  He felt safe and warm and strong.
Just as strong as he felt during the Great Ceremony, he was sure of it.  The one day a year that four disciples were back at the homestead at the same time, Matthew Mark Luke and John, Matty and Sarah D and Doctor Wickham and Monica, each a powerful magician in their own right, each with multiple spirits at their command.  Along with Peter and Laura-Bee they would sing their way through the spells, adding their voices to the beautiful, practiced harmonies that the second circle magicians had prepared for the occasion.  For hours they would sing until the sky was full of fairy lights, until their spirit-servants were vibrating in a counter melody until the whole forest rang with power and promise.   He remembered… how the singing would last long into the night, even after the moment of the solstice was over, even after seals were recast, even after each task was done.  How they would continue singing for the sheer joy of it, for nothing other than the pleasure they felt when they stood and created together.   How they would promise each other, NO REALLY this time they meant it, that they would come together more than once a year. Reveling in the sheer power that they had when they stood side by side, when they joined their voices together.
The Great Ceremony, that was due in less than a week.  That’s why they were saying good-bye to each other.  That’s why…
“We came here and you kissed me good-bye,” Angel murmured against Peter’s mouth.  Then he pulled away a little, looking around the moonlit hills.  That’s who he had been looking for, that was his memory.  The tall, strong man was Peter.  Peter was holding Angel in his arms.  They had come to the lake for a private moment alone before the ceremony.  He had been seeing the memory of them.
“Did we?” Peter said, his forehead creasing in concentration even as he smiled.  “Oh yes, we did.  That was two years ago.  We should do it every year. I love kissing you here.
“Angel,” he said, bringing his hands up again to cup Angel’s face.   “John and I will study the spell and we will absolutely do it right next time.  You can’t ever forget that I love you.  Of all of them, you’re the only one who ever says it back to me, and I treasure it.  You can’t understand how much I treasure it.  It means so much to me, precious.  I don’t think you know how much I love you.”
“But you don’t,” Angel said, even as Peter brought their mouths together again.
“You don’t love me.”  His arms were too weak to push a strong man like Peter with any force, but he did his best.  He pushed Peter away from him as hard as he could, fighting back the tears.
“You don’t love me, you love him.”
“What the… the hell?” Peter stammered, angry and baffled.  “What is this about?  You’ve never once had a problem with… wait… love who?”
“You love him.  You love Dr. Cyprian.”
If he weren’t so distraught Angel would have laughed at the face Peter made now.  It was comical.
“I love… Tony?  This is about Tony?  You can’t really…”
He stopped himself short and shook his head, hard.  It was a gesture Angel knew too well… it meant that Peter was looking at a long, pointless argument and deciding to skip past it and get to the end.
“Yes,” he said decidedly.  “I love Tony.  He’s the first man I ever loved.  He’s my Significant Other, my David.  He’s my husband, Angel.  He’s my whole world, and not just because he’s the only reason why any of this works,” he said, throwing his hands out and gesturing around him at the lake, the forest, the moonlight.  “He’s my whole world because he is my best friend, and I HAVE to talk to him… I have to talk to him tonight.  I have to make the biggest decision of my life, and… look!” he said with a painful laugh.  “I’m here!  I’m here, at the center of it all, in the place where I always make the big earth-shattering life-changing decisions!  Except he's gone so he isn’t here to tell me what he thinks!
“I have to go back and tell the others, Angel.  I have to tell them what Princess Shuri wants me to do and I can’t tell them until I talk to Tony and instead of talking to him I’m standing here arguing nonsense with you.  We’re going back now.  We’re going back and we’re finishing the ritual and when it’s over you’ll understand.”
“Not yet we’re not,” Angel said boldly, stepping into Peter’s arms and kissing him hard.  Maybe he had been fearless once, just like Peter said.  He certainly felt fearless now as he shamelessly reached down and cupped Peter’s erection, working it with skillful fingers.  He remembered, now.  Remembered that this powerful man, the man that commanded all of them, humans and spirits alike…
…this man was his lover.  Only a week ago, just before they had left for the Kenyan Consulate, Angel  had crept into Peter’s bed and gotten everything he had asked for.  And it hadn’t been the first time, either.  More than once Peter had given in to him when he begged… and oh… what Peter gave him was so sweet.

All my Marvel fanfiction
Happy end-of-the-year season! I thought this is a good occasion to compile all the stuff I’ve written to date and spam your dash with my MCU hurt/comfort fics. This is probably the last time I’m gonna put all the fics on one list, because there’s just so freaking many of them now.
I´d be incredibly happy about a reblog to make this blog reach a few more potential readers. Thank you all for sticking around with me so far!
P.S. If you don´t know where to start, the ones I like most are bolded.
——————————————–
Whumping both Tony and Peter
What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood - The universe is saved, Thanos is defeated, the Vanished are returned, and Tony has survived (though with severe radiation burns and one less arm). Everything should be good now - except that it isn’t. (My big 2019 Irondad project - 13.5k words, holy shit!)
One of These Days - Tony gets injured, and a guilt-stricken Peter runs away. Luckily, there´s people looking after both of them.
Away from the Sun - Peter gets injured, and Tony gets injured, and neither of them are quite over Titan yet.
Shadow of the Day - Tony and Peter are stranded in the desert after a plane crash.
——————————————–
Whumping Tony Stark
Thougher Than The Rest - A Pepperony h/c fic that takes place just after the final battle in Iron Man 3.
Just a Bend in the Road - A post-Endgame sickfic with the whole Iron Fam (in the AU where Tony is alive, of course).
Peter Parker and Bruce Banner’s Guide on How To Make Iron Man Sleep - When Tony and Bruce both get a cold, Peter is there to look after his favourite superhero couple. Fluff.
When All is Said and Done - My 4.5th Tony vs. Migraine fic, this time featuring Bruce as caretaker. Science Boyfriends.
Stairway to Heaven (almost) - When the Hulk breaks the elevators in Stark Tower, Peter and Tony have to climb to the top in order to repair them. 93 floors shouldn’t be an issue, Tony tells himself, and completely ignores his heart condition. Turns out that was a bad idea.
When the Walls Come Down - After rescuing Iron Man from his latest kidnapping experience, Clint and Tony are stuck in a crappy motel room. Tony insists he is fine. Clint knows he’s not.
Going Out in Style - Here’s what happened the night after Tony’s disastrous birthday party in IM2.
Say When - Some angsty Endgame and Infinity War canon, including lots of Tony Whump and Irondad feels.
Told You So  - Three times Tony and Bruce take care of each other. Sweet hurt/comfort and Science Boyfriends.
New Beginning - While recovering from the injuries sustained during Civil War, Tony becomes addicted to morphine. In typical Stark fashion, he decides to quit cold turkey and deal with the withdrawal symptoms on his own. Fortunately, Bruce won’t let that happen.
The first time Tony tells Pepper he loves her - I promise, the content is a hundred times less cheesy than the title suggests. TWs for alcohol and drug abuse.
settle our bones (like wood) over time, over time - Tony is down with the flu, so Rhodey helps out by looking after Morgan (and her dad).
let our hearts (like doors) open wide, open wide - Pepper is pregnant, Tony freaks out, Bruce Banner is a good bro and Peter Parker the best Spider-son.
Endgame Drabble inspired by that Tony/Pepper hug
Leave out all the Rest - Irondad, Spiderson, and the rest of the family. This is long and a bit sad, but I´m proud of it. TWs for illness and death.
Not Us - Endgame trailer inspired Steve & Tony something where Tony has pneumonia and everyone is sad.
Sleeping at last - 5 times Tony couldn´t sleep (and the one time he could). Featuring a severely sleep-deprived Tony and various people (and AIs) looking after him.
Safe - Tony, Bruce and Clint are stuck in a “shithole of a safehouse”. Then Tony gets sick, and Clint gets two memorable photographs.
Lose another one - Tony´s arc reactor acts up, Peter worries and receives a sad hug.
Game Face - Tony & Migraine & Steve. This one is whump for whump´s sake, with detailed descriptions of vomiting.
Science Brothers Birthday Drabble - Tony gets carbon monoxide poisoning while preparing a surprise for Bruce.
Behind closed doors - After Ultron, Tony feels like the other Avengers are distancing from him. When he gets appendicitis, he tries to hide it from his teammates.
Just because I´m losing doesn´t mean I´m lost - Tony´s fever is so high that he becomes delirious, but that doesn´t stop him from trying to lead Peter and Clint on a mission - until they find out about it.

Whumping Peter Parker
spacesick - Peter and Bruce get motionsick while trying out Tony’s new spaceship. This is very crack and kind of gross.

Blue skies fade to grey - Peter is sick at school with Ned, MJ and eventually Tony taking care of him (well, trying to…in their own particular ways).
Saltwater - Peter gets seasick on a cruise with the Avengers, who try their best to take care of him.
Seen the rain - After a mission, Peter battles sickness caused by motion and guilt. Tony, pretty worn out himself, tries his best to help him through it.
A hand upon my forehead - When Peter gets mildly sick after a mission, Tony discovers that human company isn´t necessarily a bad thing.

Precious - Pregnant Tony/Pepper Christmas drabble.
When September ends - Tony, Peter and the old piano.

Here is the same Anon from the previous question. Thank you for your previous answer. Now I would like to know your headcanons in relation to the TPN characters.
Hi! I actually have SO MANY headcanon of them, but sadly I forgot a lot of it too.. Ah, anyway! I’ll share some of it here :3
Ray has a crush on Norman Okay, this one is biased. But oh Lord, this boy: 1) been openly admiring Norman for years, 2) losing his usual cool head the moment he’s aware Norman would be shipped, 3) got so heartbroken after Norman being shipped away, 4) thought of Norman the moment they managed to escape the orphanage, 5) even Norman still the first one came to his mind when Emma got into danger in GoldyPond arc Dear, try to convince me otherwise. I dare you.
If he hadn’t know the truth, Ray would be the petulant kid as a child Well, before we get to that, let’s talk about my interpretation of Ray first. As I see it, Ray’s always been the least people pleaser out of the trio. Emma is selfish, but her selfishness is based on her idealistic wish for everyone’s happiness. Norman is pretty much similar. His mass murder plan despite himself being uncomfortable with the act of murder itself pretty much proves it. He didn’t only do it because of his friends from Grace Field, but also because he thinks of all the other children’s suffering in the Demon World. Ray, on the other hand, despite him being more openly caring with others after the escape, from the very start only doing it purely because his own selfishness. Because he wants to chase his own happiness, and that happiness comes from keeping the people who matters to him safe. I think it clearly shown when he intended to kill eliminate Yuugo in the forest when he realized that man wanted to kill Emma. Emma has always matter to him, but at that time Yuugo was just some random stranger to him so he didn’t care for that man. Now, related, I just think this fits, lol. I think he’d be that child who’d hog all his favorite toys to himself and only share it to his favorite friends (perhaps Norman & Emma, lol).
Nat & Anna have a crush on each other It’s been hinted in the manga that Nat might have a crush on Anna. When Anna was about to join along to get the medicine from the Factory Farm, Nat was shown clearly worried for her, AND also in awe of Anna’s prettiness when she tied her hair as she’s getting ready. So far, Anna hasn’t shown any signs yet of having a crush on Nat too. But at that time Peter hurt Nat, Anna is shown to be the only one who shouted after Nat, with Nat immediately tried to smile and convincing her and the others. I think it’s suffice to say that Anna at least cares and worries for Nat as much as Nat cares and worries for her. So, as a NatAnna shipper, I’m going to take this for granted for my headcanon of them, lol.
Mujika & Sonju have the strongest bond I think it’d make sense given that they’ve been on the run together for thousands years. Sonju cares about Mujika so much that he didn’t hesitate to step in front of her to protect her from the Queen back then at the Imperial Palace. Mujika herself, despite knowing that Sonju initially intend to help the children because he wanted to eat human meat again, still believe that Sonju would eventually change his mind, implying that she’s confident that she knows very much about Sonju.
Violet is a Non-Binary I recently found out that Violet uses the masculine pronoun “Boku” instead of the gender-neutral pronoun “Watashi” that is usually used by girls. But Violet also appeared to not mind it much when Emma admitted that she “thought Violet was a boy” before. Now, spectrum of gender is still kind of a taboo/unpopular topic in Asian countries (including mine). But perhaps in a modern world, I think Violet might identify as a non-binary.
Norman doesn’t aware he loves Ray as much as he loves Emma And I’m not saying this as a Norray shipper. It’s clear that Norman is aware of his romantic love for Emma. But in a platonic sense, I think Ray is a person he cares as much as Emma. I’m saying that he’s not aware of it because Norman did plan to eliminate Ray had he turned out to be a complete traitor in the first arc. I think that one was just an “in the heat of the moment” decision. He probably wasn’t aware how much he’d regret it if he had really eliminated Ray back then.
In a normal life AU, Gilda would be that one person who’d always pay attention to the latest trends and gossips I mean. Idk why, but I think this headcanon just suits her, lol. (I can’t get over the fact that the first thing she wants to do after getting out of the orphanage is buying fancy clothes XD)
Thoma & Lannion are Emma’s partners-in-crime for pranking the rest of the kids in GF House I mean, let’s be honest. Their personalities just fit SO MUCH to be the pranksters of the family, lol.
Emma is the most affectionate one out of the trio, but she does it unconsciously, while Norman loves physical affection but almost never ask for it, and Ray is pretty neutral towards physical affection but he’d get all embarrassed if someone being affectionate with him Nothing much needs to be said with this one. This is just my own fun little headcanon about the trio vs affection, lol
Thank you for the ask!
---
EDIT (additional this I just remembered)
Ray and Thoma are Asian Kind of biased since I’m an Asian, but I think their dark hair and slanted eyes just fit with it
Norman is the younger kids’ favorite I remember that scene when Shelly and Marnya jumped on Norman when he’s sleeping to wake him up. Also that one scene when the younger kids jumped on Norman when they just saw him again at the Paradise Hideout. It’s just adorable, and I think he’s the type who’d get along well with little kids.
Anna would be Ray’s favorite younger sibling It’s canon that Ray has a high curiosity and the sense of need to know many things (he read all the books in the Grace Field library even though no one asked him to do it, and some of the books aren’t even needed to ace the test), and I think Anna is the similar type too. Although her interest is more towards medicines, from her choice of helping everyone by increasing her knowledge, I think she’s the bookworm type too. And imo it’s just cute imagining Ray noticing this and starts giving books recommendations to her.

Chuck vs. The Alma Mater Part 4
Tumblr media
As Sarah and Casey continued shooting the other men, you and Chuck looked over at the computer noticing the disk was still in and Chuck quickly took out the disc putting it back in its case. "I have an idea. Get us out of here!" Chuck shouted. Chuck, Y/N,  when I say go, run out the side door. Protect the disc. We'll cover you two. Go!" Chuck grabbed your hand as you both got up and ran out of the room, leaving Casey and Sarah to fight them off.
You and Chuck now found yourselves in a computer room. Chuck quickly sat down on on the computer chair and popped the disk in as you stood close to him, looking around the room, hoping no one finds you both. "Chuck what are we doing? We can't leave Sarah and Casey in there with all those men. They're gonna get killed." "I know Y/N. That's why I'm doing this." He clicked on one student and her number came up and he quickly dialed it. "Is this Glenda Mitchell?" he asked, starting to talk on the phone." We're in the science building. It's an emergency. Bring lots of big guns." Then there was a pause and you can see Chuck was trying to remember something. "Crap, there's a code phrase.... Are you coming to the toga party?!" he then hung up. You smiled at him. "Chuck you're a genius!" You both then began to work together, calling all the students in the file asking them if they would love to come to the toga party. Chuck's phone all of a sudden rang and he quickly answered. "Agent Katz?" All of a sudden you can see Chuck's face become annoyed and you had a feeling you knew why. "Morgan, this is really, really not a good time." Chuck said annoyed. "I knew it." you said rolling your eyes, laughing a little. He always had the worst timing. "Okay buddy I get that, but I'm at Stanford with Y/N. What do you want me to do?" he asked as he looked over at you. Whatever Morgan asked Chuck next angered him as he had to pull away from the phone and take a moment before continuing. You were trying not to laugh. Being best friends with both Chuck and Morgan was always entertaining. "Okay, okay. The code is O-U-8- 1-2-pound." and then he hung up and looked over at you. He can see you smirking. "Don't start Y/NN." "You good?" "I will be. Now..." he then bent down and took the disk out of the computer. You can see Chuck then become tense when he sat back up. "Chuck what is it?" What you didn't know was the man with the crossbow was behind both of you. "Oh no." Chuck said. He then jumped to the side, bringing you down with him as he tried to shield you from the man as he shot his crossbow, hitting the computer.
The man was walking around trying to find you both as you both crawled across the floor trying to hide. It didn't last long though when you appeared from behind a desk, Chuck behind you, the man was right there with the crossbow pointed right at  your head. "Oh my God." you said scared. Chuck began to freak out seeing this. No. Please don't, please don't, please don't. Don't." Chuck pleaded with the man as he bent down to grab the disk from you. Out of nowhere, a woman came in high kicking the guy, knocking him out as well as the disk out of his hand. "You must be Chuck Bartowski. I just got your message. Are you okay?" "I'm just glad you check your voice mail." Chuck said sounding relieved. "Yeah me too." you said letting out a sigh. Chuck crawled over grabbing the disk and then quickly pulled you into a hug, relieved nothing bad happened to you.
After all that, you were all finally back home. Well at Chuck and Ellie's place since they decided to invite you over. "I can't believe that game was such a wash." Ellie said as you all entered the house. " What a blowout." " Worst game ever." Chuck said. Devon was trying to wash the paint off of his face but was not having any luck. " It's not coming off. I think I used the wrong kind of paint." he said coming up to Ellie. " Well, what brand was it?" " Brand? I don't know. One of the guys picked it up." "Try some stronger soap." You and Chuck both walked into the kitchen and he passed you a beer as he took one for himself as well. "So how painful was it? Not the game, I mean." Ellie said coming up to you both. " Well, uh, do you remember the evening with Morgan at the karaoke club? His cover of Peter Cetera's "Glory of Love" he dedicated to you?" Chuck asked. " That completely ruined Karate Kid II. " Ellie said still sounding angry about it. "Seriously, though, thanks for pushing me." "Yeah me too." "After the initial shock and horror, it was a relief to finally go back. Say goodbye." "Yeah and seeing stuff from my school. Even some people I knew.  It was scary but...it was good for me." "I'm proud of you. You know? Both of you. You faced your past, head-on. Did you find what you were looking for?" " Almost." he said, but feeling bad for you because you'll probably never know. " You'll get there." Ellie said smiling at you both as she walked away.
You and Chuck were now in his room, chilling once again on his bed. Chuck had one question on his mind and he turned his head to look at you. "Y/N. I realized you never fully told me why you hate UCLA so much. Everytime I ask you always try to change to subject." "I know..." you said with a sad sigh. "I mean it's been quite a few years since and I mean...we are best friends. I thought we told each other everything?" "We do. It's just...I've had a hard time talking about it." "Okay. Well I won't force you to talk but...you know I'm always here." "I know..." you then took deep breath. "Okay." You then sat up and turned to him and Chuck did the same. He can tell you looked really nervous. "One night, my house was having this party. It was huge. Anyways, me and some of my so called friends got a little crazy with the drinking and...I got so drunk. And my ex, Steve, thought he could take advantage of me." You could see Chuck was getting angry at the thought of someone doing this to you. "He decided to do it in front of everyone to see and none of my friends helped and...and people were filming it and the next thing I know it's all over the school." you were now crying and Chuck quickly pulled you into his arms as you cried and shaked. "Oh my God Y/N. Hey...Shhh...Y/NN. I am so so sorry." he said softly as you still cried. "I am sorry I didn't tell you sooner. Hell even called you at school when this all happened. I was just so ashamed." "Hey. Look at me." You pulled away and saw there were tears in his eyes too. "It was his fault. Okay? Not yours .Plus you didn't let that bastard stop you did you? You still graduated at the top of your class. And you should be damn proud about that. I still really want to beat the crap out of him though." You smiled at him. "Thanks Chuck." "Thank you for having the courage to tell me." You hugged him tightly one more time.
“Please tell me he got taken care of. You know by the police and all.”
“Oh he did.”
“Thank God.”
You smiled at him once more.”
"Want to check out your file?"
You both got up and walked over to Chuck's computer. As he sat down he brought you down with him to sit on his lap and held you close as he popped the disk in. "You didn't think we'd let you keep that, did you?" Sarah said appearing at Chuck's door. " I need to know, Sarah." "Okay, Chuck." she said walking up to the both of you. "Test subject 0326. Bartowski. This will be his first interview. Send Chuck in. " Fleming said appearing on the screen. "Bryce? This isn't a good time. I'm waiting for another student." You and Chuck looked at each other shocked then over at Sarah who looked just as shocked. "Chuck Bartowski? He never got your message." "What are you talking about?" " You put Chuck on the CIA recruitment track? " "It's not up to me, Bryce. They want him for the Omaha Project." "That's a military operation. They'll turn Chuck into- " "I'm required to send all the top test results to the Agency." " I want my friend out of this." "He's a perfect candidate. Keywords in his essay responses correlate to 98 percent... of the images in the exam." "You don't get it. Chuck's a good person. He's got too much heart for this kind of work. He's no operative. You can't put him out in the field. He won't survive. " Chuck looked a little saddened watching this and you noticed and leaned your head on his. "The Agency is not gonna let go of a recruit this promising. The amount of information he can retain... ? They're not gonna give him a choice? He's in no matter what." "If he cheated on the exam, copied all the answers... it would invalidate the results, wouldn't it? " "Yes. " "Good. Now you're going to help me, professor." And the video was over.
"I'm sorry Chuck." you said softly. "Bryce framed me for cheating to save me. Why didn't he just tell me that?" he said, sadness in his voice. "He couldn't. They had already recruited him." Sarah said, trying not to cry. " If he had a reason for getting me kicked out... maybe he had a good reason to break into the Intersect too." " And maybe he had a good reason for sending it to you." " I just wish I could talk to him. It must have tore him up to not be able to tell me." "No one can know about this. " Sarah said walking over and taking the desk. "For your own safety, okay?" " Sure. No one would believe me anyway." You looked over at Sarah and gave her a little smile as she smiled back at you and closed the door, starting to let the tears come down over Bryce.
FLASHBACK You pulled into the Stanford parking lot and saw Chuck sitting there with his stuff, sadness and anger all over his face. You got out of your car and walked up to him. "Chuck?" He looked up and tried to smile but it didn't work. You kneeled down in front of him now and grabbed his hands. "Oh Chuck. What happened?" "I...I don't know. Bryce set me up. Why would he do that?" "I'm sorry Chuck. I don't know." He sighed and got up, picking up his stuff as you both slowly walked over to his car. "Thanks for picking me up and taking me home Y/N. I just didn't think I could deal with Ellie in the car right now." "Oh it's no problem at all Chuck. You know I would do anything for you. Plus I am all caught up with school right now and acing all my classes so I think I can manage being away for a short while." "That's amazing Y/N. I am so proud of you." Chuck quickly put his things in the car and then walked over to hug you which you accepted. "And Chuck?" He looked down at you still holding  you. "I'm still proud of you too. No matter what." Chuck smiled and you both got in your car and drove away. END OF FLASHBACK

But a man as wealthy and powerful as Tony Stark is bound to have a few peccadillos. What he is not, is the sort of man who would force himself upon another unwilling, unlike Lord Killian, who seems to have taken a particular shine to an opera singer in the troupe Killian is hosting. Tony rescues Mr. Barnes from Killian’s untender mercies, moves the troupe into his own home, and takes Mr. Barnes as his bed companion for the season. The arrangement provides protection for Bucky and the troupe from Killian’s spite, and tweaks Killian at the same time -- a win all around, as far as Tony is concerned. He wasn’t counting on Bucky being so utterly charming and wonderful, or for the possibility that he might actually, after so many years a bachelor, fall in love. Word Count: 18,803

Tony Stark Ends My MCU in Endgame
Just sharing some stuff I did on dreamwidth with a few updates. I’m new to tumblr, give me patience.
Here is why I'm never watching another MCU film or giving money to them or Marvel if I can help it. Tony Fucking Stark. The capitulation to and adoration of both RDJ and that character shows me that their brand of heroism is nothing I want to do with. Endgame validated his worldview and I can't reconcile. Look. I'm no big fan of Tony or Iron Man. Been tolerating since Avengers. Been outright thinking he deserved a tell off and comeuppance since Civil War. Did not believe he'd get it, but thought, well, thought at the least he'd still be not outright unchallenged or proven right. Basically, I was wrong in that I thought the films were conscious of his flaws they were highlighting, and that even if they could never be confirmed or explored while RDJ was onboard, because I think RDJ would never consent to looking bad because he's a narcissist and he has star power, they were there, canon, and recognized with subtlety. And I had other models of heroes in Steve and Thor to say Tony is not the only version of hero to emulate. Iron Man as a character through his movies and the Avengers film is a hero born of guilt and mired in a complex selfishness. I thought this always but especially with repeat viewings. He's fascinating because he does help people, and commit good acts, but it is born not from a desire to care for others. It's often a side-affect of his overwhelming ego. That is the kind of hero Tony is. A selfishly, not selflessly motivated one.
I eventually got very tired of Tony not seeing others around him that were hurt instead of helped by his brand of heroism. A replacement for his brand of weapons at Stark Industries or his rock-star persona. Or seeing others at all. It's something that regardless of results, I think society needs to re-examine the strength of. The ego. The self. An American world doesn't need more internal selfishness to admire. It should wear Tony down in a very different way than the MCU reflects. It should have a foil and a cost. Endgame has erased and ignored this, validated and lionized Tony as a hero role-model, to an awful degree. To start Tony is made weak in the opening and given his monologue goodbye to Pepper to garner sympathy. For him. Not for Pepper. Not for Nebula do they have kindly interaction together; we are squarely with and in Tony POV. It's re-occurring, this sainted POV of Tony in this film. You'll notice it especially in his funeral, when he’s already dead, as on-lookers who have no connection or tenuous relation to him gather and mourn because to the film he's the icon of the MCU and the hero.
This POV is not extended to others, say Natasha’s loss. The film has a central character it is focusing and idenitfying with, and it’s Tony Stark.
The main thrust of argument in the film is also weighted in Tony's favor. Tony gets off the ship on Earth. To be hugged and comforted by his foil Steve. He is fragile and we linger on his emaciated frame in his argument with Steve and the others. We linger on him in bed after, surrounded by caring loved ones. Held back by Rhodey. Our sympathy is supposed to be centered squarely on him. Yet his argument itself is devoid of logic or reason or compassion for others that are not himself. 1) Ultron was evil and the Iron Legion was causing civil unrest even before and is gone through no others decision. Tony never rebuilt it. 2) The reason the Avengers were not working together in Civil War and after was entirely because of Tony. It's Tony who got the olive branch of a phone Steve sent and hasn't used it. Indeed Steve came as soon as Bruce and Rhodey phoned. It's Tony who went to space and left the others behind. It's Tony who lost trust and therefore tracking of Vision causing him to go off-grid. It's Tony who agreed with the accords, has since broken the accords, and has since not done anything to demolish them. Accords which Ross wanted to use to stay hands in Infinity War as well. 3)Tony is in a room playing photos of the dusted, came with a woman who's sister is murdered, and can only focus on his hurt about the Snap. On losing Peter, because of what it means to him. Of the others not being with him to comfort him in his time of battle and loss. His priority is his pain alone. It's supremely selfish. It's given no rebuttal because the narrative agrees his pain is what matters. So characters feel sad for him instead of anger or their own hurt. If they don’t agree with him, no time is devoted to seeing that. This is where you expect an argument. A reflection by everyone. A hash-out on the priority of one's personal pain versus the whole universe's losses. None ever comes. The film avoids another interesting conflict on selfishness vs selflessness to approve of onlyTony when in the five year gap it celebrates in Tony's family, at the expense of everyone else refusing to move on. Only Tony gets happiness in time through his not thinking about others. Now Tony does regret Peter. So Tony decides to help reverse the Snap. But he is given zero push back on the decision to do so entirely for his benefit, that it is his alleviation of feeling Peter's loss, and not for the world's losses, or Peter's loss independant of Tony. Again it’s a selfish and self-motivatied choice.
That Tony refuses to give up his 5 year family, which will come at the expense of 5 years lost to the returned, of the collateral we saw take place in Infinity War, at the deaths and changes since is not examined because the narrative doesn’t care to disagree with Tony. I'm not saying erasing Tony's family is right, heroic, or a choice he or the film should advocate for. But there is zero thought or discussion to the idea that Tony's family or pain is not all there is to consider in this plan. Where is Thor, saying how dare you value your happiness over all the dead of Asgard? Where's Natasha mad at her effort to keep everyone together, including world crisis prevention? Where is Carol with the universe as a whole perspective? Where is Banner saying help me at least not kill ourselves trying? Where is Clint not wanting to be a killer when his family comes back? Where is any nuance that just because Tony wants this in this way, it's not the only way everyone would feel. This film never puts anything above Tony's feelings. This extends to his heroic sacrifice at the end. The final two ways the film absolutely prides Tony's view versus anything else are his death and mourning. Tony is treated as the ultimate hero. Out of 14 million scenarios, it takes him alone to win. Him using the stones barehanded when all others couldn't. Him saving the world. His ultimate sacrifice and entirely his choice. All about him. It's not selfless that way. It's killing yourself yes, it’s saving others, but you are the ultimate universe saver. The ultimate avenger. You defeat the bad guy. Not bring people back in an act of return, but in an act of rightfulness you fix what you've been complaining others wouldn't let you and defeat evil all by yourself. Your entire motivation is rewarded, because you protect the universe by killing all your bad guy enemies. Rooted in how you feel and what you want. His final line "And I am Iron Man" a rebuke to anyone who doubts the greatness of him. Tony was right and perfect everyone. Listen up.  But there is no self-sacrifice here, because it's not about him losing. Oh, fans will mourn him. Lament Tony's lost family and happiness. Rally against his pain in dying. But Tony doesn't. There is no reflection in the film from him on the potential cost or the reality in the moment. No care is extended to the daughter's feelings or Pepper's or his friends. Nothing is about the impact or loss he'd feel of leaving them. Instead he's, like always, the focus. The film is entirely about losing him and how it's the worst for you and the world. That is what the film wants you to be sad about in these moments. Every character props him. Steve's tears. Peter's "Mr. Stark we won", and Pepper's "You can rest now." It's all about making Tony look good. This continues with the funeral. Morgan talking to Happy being about a callback to cheeseburgers Tony loved. Tony Stark 's first reactor is “Proof Tony Stark Has A Heart” floating away, wreathed in flowers. It's all tribute to the man and only about him. That's not selfless, it's self-aggrandizing. The character has gained no humility or grace. Just more fame. I'm not interested in that. In fact I'm angry. The overarching message of his rightness also destroys his foil, Steve. Who stands behind Pepper at the funeral? Steve. Who stands with Tony throughout the film? Steve. As his character's end, Steve adopts Tony's mindset of not being a selfless hero and chooses to do as Tony did and think only of what Steve currently wants. Peggy. In the past. At others expense. Steve chooses to be a selfish hero. As does Thor going off the rails in film and off with the guardians and abandoning his people. Marvel thinks that's the right way. A summation of all their films and a thing to look back on and celebrate as Tony hologram's monologue tells us. All heroes are reduced to the Tony Stark role model. It tells me they never thought Tony's world-view was a problem. And I disagree. Or they wanted to honor him so they warped everything else to work it. If they do it once, twice, always...well, what next? So I'm done.

LONG POST: I AM IRON MAN
A STUDY ON: THE MAN vs THE SUIT.
MY THOUGHTS ON TONY vs IRON MAN.
SPOILERS FOR MCU FILMS, INCLUDING ENDGAME. SO BEWARE.
I am being very vague, and no real spoilers, but some might still find this too spoilery, too.
Tumblr media
In “Iron Man 1″ Tony built the Iron Man suit, and declared at the end of IM1, publicly, to everyone that “I am Iron Man”. Then in “Iron Man 2″ he went on record and said that the suit &  the man are one (”The suit & I are one”). But then in “Iron Man 3″ (due to the events of “Avengers 1″)  the man & the suit started separating.
In IM 1 he got the suit, and became one with the suit. In IM 2 he becomes truly one with the suit. In IM3 he and the suit are, against his will, separated.... “physically”, when both the suit & the connection to the suit (JARVIS) are separated from him.
In the beginning of  IM3 he first claims that the suits  are part of him. But the he goes on a personal discovery journey. (And that’s AFTER he uses the suit to protect Pepper - putting others first) IM3 shows that while both the suit and the man are broken (suit physically broken, Tony mentally broken), he mostly tries to take care of the suit, not himself. Therefore putting the suit (others) before the man (himself).
Tumblr media
Up until now he has seen them as one - the man & the suit (himself & Iron Man), but meeting Harley and the experiences they have together... makes him see things from the boys perspective... through eyes of others (non-superheroes,  random people) - who only know the “covers of the book” - the suit & not the man inside...not really. The suit is Iron Man & he is the mechanic, who made the suit  (even if, technically, he/the man is Iron Man).
His character development takes (mostly) place in IM3, where he is “broken”. And yet he still tries to take care of the suit first, and not the man -- the man comes second. He has believed that the suit makes him - that his strength comes from the suit, not his character. But as the IM3 end tells us via his voice over - he now sees it differently.  He destroys the old suits (and his home has been destroyed, too), and starts off from scratch (The Clean Slate protocol) That was the end of the first chapter of his development.
Tumblr media
When in IM1 his declaration “I am Iron Man” said that he & the suit are one and the suit makes him Iron Man, then in IM3 his end declaration says the opposite - he is Iron Man despite it (You can take away all my toys and tricks  (his suits) - but you can’t take away one thing - the fact that he, the man, is Iron Man). He now acknowledged that the mere mortal human inside the suit is the Iron Man - that it’s Tony who has the strength & the power... to do all these great things.
His character arc was to get to that point in the IM trilogy. He has accepted that his strength comes from having flaws, too.
Tumblr media
Up until this, the suit & him have also been one, because he’s depended on the arc reactor in his chest to power the suit & to keep the man inside it alive. But the end of IM3 changes that. IM3 end separates the man & the suit... as he gets the shrapnel removed from his chest, and is not dependant on the magnetic heart in his chest. After this the suit is not “part” of him, but “around him”. Now the suit lives ON his skin, instead of IN(SIDE) him.
As he says in A3... the arc reactor now is just a device on his skin, an accessory (like a watch or a piece of jewelry worn) that houses the suit, and he is not dependant on it, it’s just an “accessory”, not a device keeping him alive...more literally.
Tumblr media
And that “growth” comes after the A1 events, and how it affects him - the anxiety, the PTSD, the.... sleepless nights...that takes us to IM3. And then his attempt to save everyone came to play in A2 - his greatest fear of not being able to save everyone, and losing everyone he loves (he might say that Pepper is the only one/thing he can’t live without, but A2 to SM1 have shown that his family is larger than her, and losing the kid in A3  definitely affected him... strongly. He, like they all, lost a lot - lost someone important to him. He didn’t lose everyone as he had feared (the A2: AoU “vision”), but he did lose someone. His greatest fear did  come true. So his “survival guilt” & “not being able to save everyONE” was the theme...kinda after that...)
Tony needs to save everyone - he needs to be the “suit of armour around the earth” that protects everyone. He needs to be the hero. As once again, mentioned in one of the A4 trailers, when Tony says that he can’t help everybody & Pepper replies that it sorta seems that/like he can. His VISION in A2 & his reality after A3 - experience at the end of Infinity War - losing everyone/being the only (human) survivor after the battle (at his location) - is the one thing he can’t live with. He doesn’t want that (Spiderman’s death) on his conscience, cause he feels (like all the heroes) that it’s his fault/on him. But...he is a hero, who needs to save everyone. And this - failure - has always been his greatest fear, and the weight on his shoulders.
Tumblr media
And this is why CA was incorrect in “Avengers 1" when he said Tony is “big man in a suit of armour...take that off & what are you?” Because, while Tony answered the way he did, because he hadn’t gone through the IM3 arc yet (and saw himself differently), he was always more than the suit. And Endgame proved that HE (Tony) is Iron Man even without the suit, and that he doesn’t fight for (only) himself. This is why Tony’s & Iron Man’s journey comes full circle with Endgame. He is the guy who (in many ways) is stronger than Thor & Hulk, and more patriotic (and caring about others) than Cap. He is a Hero. He isn’t just pretending to be one. And he’s not looking for an easy way out - saving his own ass, and letting others take the blows. Proving people wrong...once & for all.  Too bad some didn’t really see the man in the suit until that moment.
Tumblr media
And as  he said to Peter in SM1... He wanted Peter to be better than he was/is. He told Peter than if he is nothing without the suit, then  he shouldn't have it. He had realized this in IM3 (about himself), so he was  “paying it forward”. And he applies this to himself, too. The man inside the suit makes the suit around the man. Or in other words: the man makes the suit, not the other way around.
It’s the same as they’ve done with Thor, for example - it’s not the hammer that has the power, but the man holding it - thunder comes from within him (it’s in his veins), not from the hammer. Interestingly to me... Thor’s character arc seems so much like Tony’s to me... especially after Endgame (which was Thor’s IM3 - learning to accept himself as he is, with flaws and all... which makes SPOILER GOES HERE Thor’s Harley Keener...because THAT CHARACTER helped him see & accept himself with flaws...find himself & start the healing)
Tumblr media
In many ways he’s been “hiding” behind the mask... throughout the MCU history... throughout his journey over the past years since 2008. Literally. Every time there is danger, he “puts on the suit” & “closes the helmet around his face”. But... how does his journey end? The man behind the mask is revealed. He wears the suit, but... not the mask. The suit is a protective armour around him... a “mere mortal human”, but we see the man inside, because he doesn't hide behind the mask... he does not wear the helmet (at the end of the battle). Making it Tony that is being the hero, not the suit (Iron Man).
The two are separated now. This is the man...in the suit... that is doing the fighting. And...as it turns out TONY (not Iron Man) is the strongest avenger...in many ways. He is able to “lift as much as Hulk” - he does the same thing Hulk did, and unlike Bruce as Hulk, who needed time to get used to the power when it attacks him, Tony doesn’t even falter... when confronted with so much power coming at him... (he wills himself to do it & succeed)
Tumblr media
Tony also has the willpower to save Thanos for last  at the end. He makes Thanos witness his whole army/team die before the purple evil finds his own end. Tony does that by simply his willpower. He lets Thanos  witness his teams failure/fall (that he/they lost)...letting that sink in...slowly, letting him know that Tony and his team won... This is why Thanos is the last one to die...
This is why in his line  ”...and *I* am Iron Man...” in Endgame he was emphasising the “I” part. He, Tony, the man inside the (ironman) suit is Iron Man... the human with all his flaws...not just strengths. But his strength comes from his character, and the choices he’s made (from choosing to become peacekeeper instead of weapons maker...to everything that followed) that tell of his character. The whole story so far has been about how Tony Stark has a heart, and how he is the heart of the story. HE did all that. Tony did all that. He had the suit to help him (though).
Tumblr media
Also... we see how everyone finally sees him as the hero, and the heart of the story. This is why Tony doesn’t say anything during THAT scene (besides those few words to Pepper) - it was all about how others felt about him - the hero. And everyone standing to acknowledge Tony... (as) the Iron Man, and the hero. Everyone's reaction to the hero was the focus, because that arc has now also been completed - everyone else now, too, sees Tony as the hero he is. It baffles me that it took until that moment for others to finally see it, too, but... that’s how it is.
Tumblr media
Based on the canon there were many characters in this universe who did not see him as the selfless hero he had been...since almost the start of his journey (he redeemed himself in IM1... before he met any of the other heroes) And I am sad to read/see that even the makers of the films (the creators, the writers, the directors) didn’t see him as the selfless hero until his retirement. Maybe it’s the usual publicity talk & not their actual view on the character they helped to create, but yeah... seeing some claim that he finally...only now..did something not selfish...and fought for others, not himself... for me...is strange & means the person & character wasn't understood. But then again...maybe it’s the genius-factor at play - people just not understanding genius and seeing anyone who is smart & all actions by geniuses as arrogant & selfish. Not seeing the real person behind it & the real motives behind their actions? That’s my take on...that.
Tumblr media
He is more than the suit. He is everything without the suit. Tony is Iron Man...the hero. That was the end of the second chapter of his development.
And here's an appropriate quote to sum it up: “The measure of a hero is how (well) they succeed at being who they are.” Tony was a hero, a superhero, a friend, a leader, a son, a *****’*; a ******.
Which is why him choosing family over other options...is...so believable. This way he’s had a taste of both of the worlds & he’s saved both - the world & his family.

Congrats if you made it this far. It’s been another super long post from me.
There is, of course, more to this, but this is already too long of a post...even though I can say so much more about this all.

so . endgame . this is gonna be a spoiler filled review so pls skip this if u haven’t watched it!! forewarning: this is a relatively positive review and I’m a tony stan so if you disliked the movie / tony stark and want to find more ppl like you, you are not gonna find it here but I am gonna critique a few things too bc there were issues to be addressed. also, while this is a Hot Také™️ opinion piece that doesn’t mean I lack the ability to understand or even agree with the opposing opinions; this is just what I came out the theater with and still think about after discussion with others.
Anyway let’s begin!
Personally, Endgame gave me great closure for one of my favorite characters. I’m extremely Tony biased like, to a very extreme degree but he’s a character I connect with who has personally helped me through the years with his story so I think my attachment and bias can be excused a little. Even with that bias, I believe I can also understand other characters without the “I Love Tony Stark So Much” goggles shaping what I see. This is also gonna focus on the main six because this movie is dedicated to them, but all the other characters were awesome and I enjoyed their cameos/presence.
I’m gonna talk about Tony first because he’s my main focus for being so invested in the MCU. I’ve been watching the MCU since it started and 11 years later, seeing my favorite character, a character I connected with so much especially because of IM3 where he had anxiety and panic attacks like I was having at the time / still have (to a lesser degree though), die hurts so much. I could not stop crying in about the last hour when I knew he was gonna die. I’ve said it before on this site that the logical conclusion for his story is death. The only way Tony is gonna leave the armor as he’s been trying to since Avengers 1 is to die. He IS Iron Man, Iron Man is HIM, there is no difference. The only way Iron Man is over is if his life ends, too. So with that I figured this would be the end for him. I’ve been thinking he’s gonna die since Infinity War so, his death was not too much of a surprise. It still hurt like hell to see it happen, to know he’s truly gone. What hurts the most is that Morgan Stark will never truly know her father personally. She’s too young to remember much but at least she has his legacy surrounding her and loving her, knowing her father exchanged his life for her and everyone else on Earth to live freely. I did like that Tony got to see his dad one last time while he was a father himself. He got to come to terms with his dad in a way he never could before. RDJ’s acting was on point in this movie and I love him for what he’s done with Tony Stark.
I also want to point out the talk between Tony and Steve when Tony returns. I found this conversation to be very vital in addressing the issues between the two and why they possibly lost in Infinity War. I’ve said this before but the obvious thing is that the Avengers probably stood a chance against Thanos if they weren’t all split up thanks to the events of Civil War. Steve said they would fight together and lose together but as Tony points out, they didn’t lose together. They lost separately and Tony was stranded from Earth in space miles away for a month starving and dying. He had foreseen what was gonna happen and tried his best to achieve protection—his armor around the world plan—but the others merely chided him for it and then fought each other because of the consequences of not wanting that particular armor. And then they lost in the end, separated and Tony is torn. He is damaged and weak and sick and tired, he was nearly murdered and he lost the kid in turn. It is a sad moment and I was very happy it wasn’t immediate apologies when Tony arrived. The others had a month to reconcile but Tony was still dealing with what he faced alone with only Nebula and the ashes of Peter in his mind. I really enjoyed that conversation and found it to be a really good prelude to how the rest of the movie would pan out. When he took off the arc reactor and shoved it at Steve and told Steve to run and hide, gave Steve the armor and told him to do something about it…powerful stuff right there.
Now about Tony’s death: I think it was really important for him to do the final snap of ending Thanos’ war. He and Thanos have been the two at odds with each other this entire time. We know it’s going to eventually end up being him against Thanos like it was in Infinity War. But when he took the stones from Thanos and said “I am Iron Man” in retaliation to Thanos claiming he was inevitable!! Thanos is always gonna come but as long as Tony is Iron man, he will be defeated. Tony is the one who can save the universe and I think it’s also super important that he uses the most dangerous weapon ever. Tony protects the world with weapons, he started off profiting from it, but grows throughout the movies to eventually be trusted to use the most powerful weapon in the universe to save it. The Avengers trust him to use it for good and he trusts them to deal with the stones afterwards. It’s beautiful, it so beautiful. He dies with two families: his biological/iron fam and his superhero family. He dies trusting them to carry on not only his legacy but the legacy of Earth, of the Avengers, of avenging the universe in full. He is Iron Man and he finally gets to rest. He gets to put down the armor and save the universe like he’s been trying for years with the Avengers’ trust backing him up. Personally, I believe this is the hero death Tony deserved. He used to be a man who was feared for the destruction he caused and he went through a deep and thorough redemption and self-realizations to then be trusted to use the most destructive weapon for the greater good.
Now on to Thor and Bruce, two characters who I have an issue with in terms of their characterization. Thor’s dealing with a lot of shit. Understandable as hell; his story is probably the most dark given he has no living family anymore. Tony got lucky and his loved ones, Peter aside, survived. Thor lost everyone. He killed Thanos, he went for the head, but still didn’t win. His depression, anxiety, and PTSD is so valid. What I hate is that he didn’t get the same treatment in Endgame Tony got in IM3. Yes, Thor’s is a lot darker of a situation but he didn’t need to be the brunt of jokes. I understand that he is over 1000 years old and in the grand scheme of things, this moment in time is a blink and a bit of a sick joke. I understand that he falls back into his old Viking ways of alcoholism and whatnot. It’s totally understandable but I will always be disappointed in how it was approached. They still could have been humor and jokes without resorting to petty insults. I am glad though that his weight gain did not suddenly disappear. The way the Russo’s went about presenting it was insulting and demeaning but I feel it’s important as well to show that his weight gain wasn’t gonna suddenly disappear now that he’s back to being the mighty Thor.
Bruce was…okay I like Professor Hulk. I think it’s important that Bruce come to terms with his Hulk nature but the point of Hulk is that he’s angry and he unleashes it with smashing and I was just. Expecting more Hulk smash and still that dichotomy even if Bruce has come to terms with being Hulk. The thing I like is that Bruce, who was always scared of his persona as Hulk killing people got to bring back billions of lives as Hulk instead of taking those lives away. Anyway, I had that small beef with Hulk but it wasn’t as much as say against Thor. Bruce’s humor was lighter and not as insulting, it was a refreshing continuation of his Ragnarok/Infinity War characterization.
Speaking of Ragnarok, let’s talk Loki. Loki is my second favorite character and let’s be real, all Loki stans were basically expecting more out of Endgame when it came to this character. I figured he would be in flashbacks but I was hoping still maybe it would be more?? I said before that perhaps Tony breaks Loki out to get the tesseract and I mean, that did kinda happen. But at least we know we have a divergent 2012 timeline and this is probably where the Loki TV show is gonna be set. I’m definitely interested in seeing what happens in that alternate universe but we won’t see that for another two years so, just a big sigh. And also I’ve seen on twitter at least people upset that Thor didn’t talk to Loki when he went back to Asgard. Loki and Thor were at odds and not friends during The Dark World. I don’t think Thor talking to Loki would have done anything important, it wouldn’t have changed anything and it certainly wouldn’t have helped him with his task of getting the Aether from Jane. While it would have been nice to see more Loki when Thor went back to 2013, I think what we did see was the most that could have happened while Thor was also dealing with seeing his mother again.
On the topic of Loki, he seems to like go about as Steve, huh? I thought it was a cute nod to the scene from TDW (I cant remember if it was deleted or not I haven’t seen that movie in years lol) when he shape shifted into Steve to taunt the Avengers. Cheeky Loki is great and so is cheeky Steve. “I could do this all day” and “Yeah, I know, I know.” The Steve vs Steve fight was also really cool. I was surprise he used the mind stone to stop himself though? And I thought it was funny when he said “hail hydra” to get by with the scepter. Now onto Steve’s whole time loop. I am disgruntled but also weirdly okay with how that all ended. I am not anti-Steve in any manner but his MCU characterization is not on my personal top list of Cap storylines. I’ve seen someone say this before and I found I kinda agreed with it. Steve’s progression is becoming more and more selfish when it comes to keeping his family safe while in parallel Tony’s progression is becoming more and more selfless when it comes to keeping his own family safe. Very different takes on how to protect family, but I think it would be wrong to ignore that part of Steve’s story. He will do any and everything to keep Bucky alive at his side, to keep Sam safe, to keep the integrity of the Avengers alive even at the cost of his personal freedom. He wants, no needs, to have his family with him. He will risk damaging relations with everyone else to keep them save. That’s admirable.
That being said, Steve going back in time to be with Peggy is a pathetic conclusion even if I can come to terms with it. In my opinion, Steve is the only Avenger righteous enough to be able to go back to the past to fulfill his own timeline and not do anything about what is coming next. He takes a huge risk in staying back in time to be with Peggy; letting Hydra infiltrate SHIELD is one thing he could not change. No matter what, Thanos is coming. He is inevitable. But Tony is Iron Man, and Tony can only be Iron Man in the first place if he gets kidnapped in Afghanistan. This only happens because of Obadiah’s jealousy and greed, which comes out of Tony becoming CEO of Stark Industries after his parent’s premature deaths. Their premature deaths only happen because Bucky became the Winter Soldier and was brainwashed to kill them. These things have to happen in order for Thanos to be defeated so Steve has to keep these things alive. This also means he has to marry Peggy after he crashed in the ice so there are two Steve’s in the universe, one who is Peggy’s husband and another who is Captain America. He gets the future he always wanted and the superhero story he was born to be a part of. The biggest pieces of bullshit about this storyline is 1) Peggy being used as nothing but someone for Steve to lust over 2) Steve coming back somehow in the end as an old guy. You could sort of explain point 2 by saying old Steve always existed so it’s not actually disrupting the timeline, things are always supposed to be this. You know how in some time travel movies the present/future happens bc someone went back into the past and their actions caused it? Maybe Steve is something like that. I know they explained that it creates a split timeline but if old Steve is always there then it’s not a split timeline it’s just the regular timeline. It still doesn’t explain why old Steve was right there with the Avengers after they sent 2023 Steve to the past. Major plot hole. Also I don’t think him leaving Bucky in 2023 is a plot hole; Bucky has to live his life post being Hydra’s Winter Soldier and without Steve’s shadow over him. It’s gonna be great to see Bucky working with a new Captain America and forming a friendship with Sam.
Side note: I am so pleased about Falcon!Cap that is what I’ve wanted for years in mcu now and it’s here! That is definitely something I am grateful for in all of this. Another thing I liked is Valkyrie becoming the Queen of Asgard and Thor exploring the galaxy with the Guardians. Also Pepper in the Rescue suit, that made me super excited! Seeing all the ladies team up was very fun.
Anyway, on to the last two of the main six Avengers: Clint and Natasha. I think I saw some people upset about Natasha’s death…she was in a very dark place mentally but her sacrifice for her family to live on is just as important as Tony’s. They both exchanged their lives to save the universe and so her death was not pointless at all. It also is a great show of how much Clint loved her, how much he risked to save her and indict her into SHIELD after he was sent to off her all those years ago. As she said in Avengers, they all have blood on their hands, some more than others. This was her way of returning the lives she took just as Tony has done the same by snapping away Thanos’ army at the cost of his life. She was the soul they needed for these three Avengers—Natasha, Bruce, and Tony—who have taken many lives with their own hands if not just obscene amounts of violence, to reverse the Snap and save the universe. Clint can be included actually but since he was Ronin when he was slaying people for revenge I put that separate from when he returned to the Avengers.
MCU Clint isn’t my fave Avenger, both because of Renner and because of his characterization. But Endgame made me like him more, especially in the first five minutes or so as he taught his daughter archery and connected with his family. That was a beautiful opening scene and it wrenched my heart to see his family get dusted away. His dark turn was kinda corny imo I mean, the whole badass punk hipster vibe was funny but I really liked seeing him and Natasha interacting and being friends again. I’m glad he had a sword because while bow and arrow comes in handy, the battle requires close combat and he definitely was gonna get killed if he didn’t have something more than arrows.
Also the quantum realm suits grew on me…they are still ugly but it’s a tolerable ugly now.
AH! important point: Nebula’s storyline! I really liked how she had to literally kill her past self in order to keep herself and her sister alive. That side plot of Nebula battling herself was great and allowed for nice growth of her character and how her past self tried to sabotage her future.
Final point is that I enjoyed the movie for what it is: a beautiful close to the story of the Infinity Saga. It is meant to be a homage to the fans who have seen all the movies, who have followed the MCU for as long as they could. I don’t think this is meant to be for casual viewers, not that you can’t watch casually, but you definitely have to watch knowing what happened before. They don’t introduce Captain Marvel or Antman’s Quantum realm stuff much. It’s probably confusing if you haven’t seen Captain Marvel or the Antman movies. You’re expected to know what came before and I mean, it makes sense. Money making franchise or not, there’s a lot going on in this movie and taking the time to introduce new things over and over is not worth it.
tl;dr: Endgame is the story about end of the two who started the MCU, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. I think you could even say that Steve stuck by Tony’s side until the end of the line. The two leaders of the Avengers, side by side and trusting each other again to get the job done. That is the Endgame because part of the journey is the end and doing whatever it takes to get there. My final thought (before rewatch because lbr, I will most likely watch again) is that I am very grateful for the chance to love Tony Stark as I have, to love him 3000 and 3000 times more and more. I love you, Tony Stark. You can rest now, my love. The universe is indeed safe in your hands~

The question of Peter’s choices in Civil War...
Everyone and their mother will agree that Peter’s choice to unmask publicly was out of character. Anyone with any understanding of the character (and the concept of vigilantes and heroes, I mean, really, assault is written into the genre’s very core) will also agree that while he tries to respect the law as much as he can, he will break it and allow it to be broken when it comes into conflict with what’s right.
Here’s the thing, though. There were ameliorating circumstances, of which being out of character was only a small part, which made his actions more understandable: one was his faith in Tony and the other was the fact that he didn’t have a choice.
Before Peter unmasks, heck, before Civil War even starts, Tony gives him the Iron Spider Suit (IRS) and, when Peter questions him for ulterior motives, admits that he wants his help with something big that’s coming, but he won’t tell him what until he swears that he’ll support him and back him up no matter what, and that he won’t tell anyone else what’s goin on. Peter goes so far as to call it a blood oath, and Tony agrees. In return, Tony would make him his second, his protegé, someone allowed to be at his side as the events unfold and learn, see and hear everything he himself sees and hears.* Peter, thinking he’s doing nothing more than agreeing to help a friend, gives him his oath. (ASM #529) They go to Washington, where Tony had been summoned to testify before the Senate Metahuman Investigation Committee.
On the plane over, Tony tells Peter what they’ll be discussing: the SHRA, and they both agree that it would be a bad thing and that they’ll have to convince the Committee not to go forward with it. Once there, they argue against it before the court and Tony even hires a super-powered mercenary to fake an assassination attempt which Peter (who didn’t know it was fake, and to whom Tony didn’t reveal it was fake even when he asked) would prevent, in hopes that Spider-Man’s intervention and the mercenary’s speech about how the government’s intolerance of super-heroes would lead to their erradication and the country’s vulnerability (all of this conviniently recorded by the IRS) would tide the Committee’s opinion over to their side. (ASM #531)
I repeat: Tony had been shown to be against the Act.
It would not be such a stretch to think that, when he backed up the Government when it decided to go through with it after Stamford, it was so he’d be better able to do damage control. He (and Reed and Pym) put themselves in charge of how the Act would be carried out, and parts of it were reasonable and downright smart. I mean, yeah, train people so they won’t do harm disproportionate to the good they set out to do. (This is not to say that I agree with the Act in it entirety, of course.)
Another thing Tony had been shown to be was savvy when it came to politics and a capable person in general, so between all this and his promise to always back him up, Peter could have stayed on his side on the hope that he would fix it, either improve the pubilc’s opinion of heroes so everything would be back to normal or work out the worst parts of the Act so that everyone could be happy with it. What we have to accept is that, while the relationship was horribly built, they were friends and, according to JMS, had a sort of father/son relationship (so can we be really surprised when it went to shit?).  It’s not so much that he agrees with everything the Act proposes, but that he trusts his friends and, particularly, Tony, to look after their interests.
So, we’ve got a reason for why he’d make the decision to be on Tony’s side, and we’re going by this chronologically, so we’re on the ride over to the airport so Peter can fly to New York, so he doesn’t know a lot of stuff, yet. But, we’ve still got to go over how they could justify Peter unmasking on TV.
When Tony asks him to do this, Peter refuses. Tony makes it clear that if he doesn’t, he’ll be a criminal, and he leaves him to think it over on the flight to NY. During it, Peter calls his bank to ask the amount of money he has saved and if he can withdraw it. Once home, he talks it over with Mary Jane and Aunt May, saying that if he unmasks, they get to choose and the decision has to be unanimous.
During the course of this conversation, we see that Peter and MJ reach the conclusion that he's damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t, because his secret identity is compromised already (they only talk about whether Tony can be trusted not to tell on him, but SHIELD knew who he was, too - heck, it was practically common knowledge fuck you Bendis) and Peter seems to make the decision to go on the run, on his own, because taking Aunt May and Mary Jane with him could lead to their arrest.
Then... Aunt May tells him to unmask (which, okay, might not be too weird for someone whose only experiance with being attacked because people knew who Peter is was when she got kidnapped and promptly drugged until she was saved, so she might not have been able to process the danger beyond the intellectual) and... Mary Jane agrees (which is shit) and still Peter wanted to go on the run, until Aunt May corners him and implies not only that Uncle Ben would have wanted him to unmask, but that it would be the responsible thing to do because she ties it to accountability.
Now, I can’t actually argue that unmasking, even under all this pressure, was in character. I just can’t. The best thing I can do with all these little facts is No Prize it.
First of all, I’ll talk about a thought I had while writing this. Like I said, there would have been little point in Peter unmasking, even just to the Governemt, because SHIELD and others already knew his id. In fact, he had already made a comment about how he didn’t trust their capability or willingness to prevent leaks, so, in his mind, for all intents and purposes, his secret identity was already shot. So, that being a non-issue, why was he still about to leave? I mean, besides an impulse that by this point was more instictual and visceral than logical to protect his id (which would have been more than fair). I think, when he and MJ started talking about what might be asked of him if he stayed and registered, he realized that he wasn’t willing to compromise that much, but maybe he didn’t want to face the fact that he’d break his promise to Tony that easily, so he stuck with the “I don’t want to unmask” excuse. Truth be told, I think that, at least at first, if he had actually left, he’d have gone Ben’s route and gone to Canada to stay out of it, instead of joining Cap’s team from the start - especially since he’d be leaving his family in the tender mercies of whoever got their hands on his secret id and wanted to make something of it, he might want to be on his best (possible) behaviour.
But why did he stay, then? The clinch was clearly when Aunt May talked to him the morning he was about to slip away, which amounted to “own up to what you’ve, done it’s the responsible thing to do and what your Uncle would have wanted”. So that might have combined with his guilt over breaking his promise to Tony when it was possible that he’d be fighting to make the Act better for supers and in a moment of hysteria he might have gone “you know what? It’s already going to go public. The Government will find out and sooner than later there will be a leak and everyone else will find out too, might as well cooperate and skip the middle man so I can keep some kind of control over it.” Unmasking publicly would also be a show of support to Tony, who did the same thing (at this point, people didn’t know he was Iron Man, although it was heavily suspected, since he’d unmasked before).
So, to summarize: Peter was the proverbial frog boiling over low fire. He started with a promise of support ot a friend, who then asked him for his help in convincing the Government to at least postpone the Act. When the SHRA came to fruition, he might have had the idea that Tony would still be fighting against it, but in a position that might allow him to do it from within, so he might have seen the sides as the one which was willing to compromise and negotiate and the one which refused to give quarter even when some of it made sense, instead of outright pro vs against. It has to be noted, too, that Tony didn’t ask him whether he wanted to be part of the strike team who went after the heroes who didn’t register, and that he fonud out about that with everyone else, through a TV press conference when he had already given up his secret identity.
As for his unmasking, he had plenty of reason to believe that everyone he’d be required to tell his identity to would find out anyway from SHIELD and/or Tony (or any of the inmates who recognized him from the time he was unmasked in Ryker’s, I mean, Bendis was polite enough to include and name The Foolkiller specifically, who had been a student and friend of Peter’s, see his face god Bendis fall off a cliff), and didn’t think they’d be able/willing to keep the secret, so he might have decided to skip the middle man and unmask himself so at least he’d get points for cooperating and to have some control over the narrative. He was also sorta kinda guilt tripped into it by Aunt May. Still something you’d have to suspend your disbelief for, but all in all, that and a little bit of freaking out-induced irrationality might do the trick enough that we can justify it and accept it without going into the territory of “it was in character”.
Now, I’ve also heard people say that going on the run was out of character. That, at the very least, he shouldn’t have taken Mary Jane and Aunt May with him.
I’ll start with the scenario of him going on the run with his family because it’s the easier one. Yes, it was dumb, and you can tell it was ooc because he didn’t want to do it in the first place. He took them out of the tower because he didn’t trust Tony with them (am I the only one who thought “As long as they’re with me, they’re safe.” (ASM #535) as “as long as you behave, they’re safe”? At the very least, it’s what a scared and disillusioned Peter might have thought), but after that he wanted them to take their money and go away, probably even leave the country. Then May (goddamit May!) convinced him to “let” them stay with him. I mean, it’s not like he could actually make them do anything, it’s not as easy as “Peter should have sent them away”. It’s still out of character, but also understandable. We learn later that Peter didn't want to stay with the outlaw heroes so he wouldn't bring trouble to them (it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that Tony might have some way to trace him even without the suit), so if they left, he’d be looking at the life he described to Mary Jane (”on the run [...], going from one dive to another, using different names... The stress will be enormous” ASM #536)... on his own. Certainly not the most attractive prospect. So May’s message of hope would be attractive to him, and he could justify it by saying that at least this way he can keep an eye on them and actively protect them.**
I’ve also heard it said that he should have stayed with Tony but report back to the other team, to which I have to say... you complain that Peter was out of character for unmasking and then you suggest this? He’s not the cloak and dagger kind. Not only is it not his style, I don’t think he’s cut out for it. I mean, can you imagine Peter as Black Widow 2.0? Would it have been smart? Yes. Would it have been in character? Hell, no. And while I think he’s a better liar than most people are willing to give him credit for, he’d be caught 5 minutes in. People were already thinking he looked suspicious during Bill Foster’s funeral, and everything (except my reding list, ig) points out to that being before the failed transfer attempt in ASM #534, where he was still so committed that he rejected Cap’s offer (and request) to switch sides and fought him. By escaping, at least he put some distance between his family and the repercussions of being a double-agent.
Also to consider is that, the moment he starts thinking of jumping ship, Tony tells him that he wants him in LA the next day, so he’d lose all of his usefulness as a spy. Even if he had managed to stay in NY and close to Tony, it was clear that he wasn’t trusted anymore. It was just not an option. Quite like it wouldn’t have been an option to just contact Cap’s team and offer to report to them because they wouldn’t have trusted them. We know this because they didn’t immediately trust him when Frank took him all beaten up to their hide out and at least Sam still didn’t trust him after he made his speech exposing the pro side’s ruthless and immoral measures (although then he was shown to be appreciative of him in the CW mag, so idk).
So, he was on Tony’s side not so much because he agreed with the Act but because he trusted Tony to try to make the best of it and maybe even change it, he unmasked because the important people already knew who he was and he didn’t trust him to keep the secret, so that combined with his promise to support Tony, Aunt May’s sorta guilt trip and a bit of being out of character that we’ll call “being under a lot of stress for a long time now ang going through a bit of hysteria at just the wrong time” led to that decision. Getting Mary Jane and Aunt May out of the Avengers Tower was alright because he had already seen the measures Tony would go to to ensure a win and doesn’t trust him, but letting them come along with him while he fought the SHRA instead of insisting that they leave was out of character and dumb to boot. While staying on Tony’s team to spy on them would have been smart, it would have been ooc, too, and not an option since by the time he decided to change sides not even Tony trusted him.
*I didn’t mean for that to be so close to an actual quote, but I checked the issue and that’s almost exactly what he says, so go me and my subconcious memory, I guess.
** Now, why would he be willing to endanger his family and not the other heores... yeah, out of character. But also... well, I guess this is my own personal view of the character and the narrative it fits in, but Peter Parker needs family, friends and good things in his life to function. I mean, all humans do, but Peter needs them for the sake of his story, the counterpoint light to the darkness. He can be exposed to all the evil of the world and fight it, but he needs its goodness, too. The tragedy/hope (and even death/birth) dichotomy is at the core of the character: Uncle Ben dies/Spider-Man the hero is born, Gwen Stacy dies/his relationship with Mary Jane starts off, everything goes to shit right before the second Clone Saga/Mary Jane gets pregnant, May dies/she reveals she knew Peter was Spider-Man and is proud of him. The last one is especially important because Norman intended that revelation to drive Peter to despair, but it actually gives him hope. It’s about being open to hope in the worst of times. It’s part of the reason why I hate the “Peter is a loser with a fucked up life whose punchline is that he can never be happy” ideology (besides it being categorically untrue...)
