Clintasha Advent (10)

Prompt: Continuation of the pineapple saga

Warnings: discussion of previous torture

Word count: 300 words

A/N: this genuinely made me laugh - this has been going a bit too long! I should make this into a proper fic. Maybe next year :)

Clint stares at Tony.

“It’s not a good story,” he says in a deadpan voice.

Tony looks at both of them eagerly, the knowledge that he’s going to learn about their histories and something he does not know, makes him hyper almost.

“It’s a good story, it’s a new story,” he grins.

Natasha rolls her eyes.

“Fine, but just remember you asked,” she says evenly.

Tony nods.

“Tell me why you don’t like pineapples.”

Natasha huffs.

“We got captured by drug dealers in Thailand. They had a pineapple farm that they hid it under.”

Clint pauses, wondering just how much to divulge.

“There was nothing to eat except pineapple,” Natasha supplies.

“They left us, for days, then they’d come in, torture us, and then leave us again.”

She gives Clint a sharp look.

“So that’s why you don’t eat them? How long were you there?” Tony still looks intrigued.

“Twenty days,” Clint swallows.

“You ever eaten anything for twenty days straight?”

Tony shakes his head, the enormity of what his friends are saying settling in.

“But someone came for you right?”

Clint shakes his head.

“Did you know, that if you eat only pineapples it makes you more hungry? Ravenous even.. All you can think about is food. Water… We didn’t know that.”

“But they did,” Natasha says quietly.

“They were just waiting for us to turn on each other.”

Clint reaches out and she meets him half way.

“We got ourselves out.”

Tony looks down.

“Happy you know?”

“No,” he replies truthfully.

“Sorry,” he follows.

Clint stands.

“Sometimes Tony, there are stories that are better you don’t know.”

Natasha is kinder.

“Maybe don’t ask next time.”

He nods, even though they all know he’s always going to ask.

They leave him to his thoughts, the sun setting leaving the room dulled.

A/N: friend this is a short one but it makes up for the next one that’s longer <3

“You’re bleeding on the paper,” Clint points out.

Natasha looks down and lifts her top, the bandage seeping red as a bead rolls down.

She moves to wipe it and groans.

“I just wrapped that.”

Clint continues wrapping the present for Steve, the colourful socks easy to cover.

“Just cover it over, Tony won’t notice.”

Natasha grumbles.

“No, no, I’ll start again.”

Clint looks over to her.

“Do you want me to rewrap it?” he says with a grin, pointing to her abdomen.

“Barton, I know you think your play on words are funny, but they’re not.”

Clint picks up the ribbon and ties it, holding up.

“They’re knot?” he says, making a bow on it.

“Ugh, that’s bad, even for you.”

Clint laughs.

“Come here,” he tells her, leaving for the bathroom and coming back with medical supplies.

“Take your top off,” he orders.

“Woo a girl first,” she mumbles, taking it off and wincing.

Clint’s face is serious, as he takes the old bandage off and pulling it from her skin.

“Sorry,” he winces.

The stab wound weeps.

“Trust you to get stabbed with a fork,” he tells her, wiping it with alcohol, ignoring her sharp intake of breath.

“Not a fork, a sodegamari,” she corrects.

He shrugs.

“Whatever it looks like a fork. Just because it’s an old school Japanese weapon, you don’t get to call it a fancy name and brush it off.”

Natasha bristles.

“Come on, we need to get ready,” he tells her, placing the last bit of tape on to hold the bandage down.

“What no other jokes?”

Clint looks at her seriously.

“That’s a wrap?”

In this post, ReiSoulzero talked about how in the reichenbach scene of “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” movie, Holmes closed his eyes before he pulled Moriarty with him to the Fall, so Watson would be the last image he would see before his death…

Well, I was rewatching the movie, and Holmes did this not only then, in the Reichenbach scene, he did it before, in the train scene where Watson is healing his injuries. Holmes almost dies in this scene, so, in the movie, they show he’s looking at Watson before he close his eyes and surrenders to death in the train scene.

He did this twice, and I can’t help to think about the tarmac scene in “His Last Vow” from BBC Sherlock, when Sherlock makes John laugh so he can see him smile for the last time:
