a kili durin love story
when a young princess meets a dwarf without a home— she becomes his home.
・❥・ 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬
The pale light of the moon illuminated the city of King’s Landing, a dense blanket of snow covering the cobbled streets, tattered rooftops, and darkened alleyways underneath the crisp, starry sky. It was on this cold night that the Realm’s Delight was giving birth to her third child.
Her piercing cries of agony blended with the howling wind, creating a ghostly wail that flooded the halls of the Red Keep. At long last, the Realm’s Delight held her newborn in her arms with a gentle grasp, a beautiful princess, born at the stroke of midnight amidst a raging white storm. The child was a beacon of hope, a shining addition to the Targaryen dynasty.
Rhaenyra smiled softly as her finger caressed the soft cheeks of her daughter. The slight movement triggered a bubbly laugh to pour out the young child and a gummy smile to appear upon her face. Her tiny hands chased after her mother’s finger, eager to hold it, causing Rhaenyra to chuckle lightly to herself.
It was indeed a heartwarming scene of a mother and her daughter.
Her daughter. The daughter she longed for her whole life. Her beautiful, precious Valaerys.

Imagine: Another man kisses you
Thorin, Fíli, Kíli, Bilbo's reactions when another man kisses you.
Tumblr media
Thorin
Thorin and you are courting for a short time, and as he is the King while you’re a simple woman, you prefer to hide it. Who could believe the King court you anyway?
You easily hide it until a night of festivities.
A banquet is held in honour of the spring festival. The King is with his family, friends, and some advisers while you’re in another corner of the big room of festivities with your friends. The night is fun and you eat and drink too much, so you sing and laugh non-stop. Then, a long friend of yours offers you to dance. It’s not the first time you dance with him, and you know he is a good dancer, so you accept.
The dance is nice and fun until you feel his hand on your back presses you against him and his lisp on yours. He acts too quickly given the quantity of alcohol you drank, but when you understand what’s happening, you move away from him. He holds you by the wrist and pulls a little. “I-I’m sorry,” he stammers. “I thought you–”
“Oh, hm, it’s alright,” you say as you try to take your hand back.
“It’s anything but alright,” Thorin says behind you with his sword in hand. He had run through the crowd with his sword, more furious than ever. The music stops, and everyone is looking at you, some of them whispering.
Thorin takes your hand from your friend and pulls you behind him. “If you touch, or even look at her once again, I kill you. Understand?”
Your friend is freezing while Thorin exclaims again, “Understand?”
“Y-yes, my King,” he eventually replies, trembling.
Then, after Thorin puts his sword away, he turns to you and kisses you in front of everyone. Not a simple kiss. A kiss that makes your knees weak and your breath hard.
“If anyone touches her, I’ll kill him!” he shouts to the crowd.
You pull his hand, so embarrassed by his behaviour, “Thorin, please calm down, they will believe it…”
“I hope they’ll believe it!” he smirks as he kisses you again before he pulls on your hand to follow him out.
Note: Out where? You know where, right? 😏
Tumblr media
Fíli
“He what?” Fíli shouts, startling Kíli while he was telling his last evening in a tavern with you and other friends. “He knows my feelings about her and he still kissed her!”
Fíli is so furious that he doesn’t know how to calm down after hearing one of their friends kissed you. Well, now he is not one of their friends. “He was drunk, and you know it already, he likes her too. Maybe they’re together now. You should have talked to her when you could, and I shouldn't say that if I want to stay alive.”
Furious’ Fíli’s glare is now on his brother as he stands up from his chair. “Where are you going?” Kíli asks, looking at his brother walking to the door while the sky was dark and cold because of the snow.
“I must talk to her. Now,” Fíli says before he gets out and runs to you.
At the same time, you were closing your shop. Some customers inside were still hesitant on their purchase, but you don’t rush them. Leaning on your elbows on your counter, you’re thinking of the last night and the kiss your friend gave you. You’re glad Fíli wasn’t there because you don’t know how you could face him after that. You would have given anything for him to be the one who kissed you yesterday.
Lost in your thoughts, Fíli enters and runs to your counter, ignoring the customers. You’re so surprised that you can’t speak when he stops and looks at you. He sighs and runs his hand through his hair when he sees no news braids in your hair.
“Is there a problem, Prince Fíli?” you eventually ask while the customers are looking at you more than the things you sell. You let Fíli catch his breath when you take customers out of your shop to talk to him alone.
“Now, tell me what’s happening. You start to worry me…” you say as you walk in front of him.
He stands up straight, looks in your eyes and takes your hands. “Will you marry me?”
You obviously freeze. Surely for a long time since he ends up pulling your hands toward him, so that you take a step towards him. “I’m sorry. What did you say?” you ask as you’re not sure to listen to him well.
Fíli raises a hand to your face and slowly puts it on your cheek. As his thumb strokes your lips, he looks at it, completely mesmerised by them. “Fíli?” you ask even though his hand doesn’t bother you at all, but his behaviour still worries you.
He leans so closer to you that you feel his breathing on your skin. “Can I kiss you?” he whispers.
Then, you can’t help but smile when you understand his behaviour has something to do with yesterday. You barely have the time to say ‘yes’ that he draws you to a passionate kiss.
Breathless, he pulls away from you, his eyes sparkling, “I hope you said ‘yes’ for the two questions.”
Note: Alright, I got carried away. Now you’re married to him. Congratulations 🎉
Tumblr media
Kíli
Tonight, you will do what you planned for days. Tonight, you will see if Kíli has feelings for you!
You've been friends with him for a long time, and as he is kind and flirty with everyone, you don’t know how you should take it. But, you, however, have feelings for him, and you want to know if you have a chance or not.
Speaking about it with him is obviously out of the question, so you planned to dance with a friend of yours tonight and see his reaction.
Here you are. In a warm, festive, and louder huge room to celebrate Durin’s Day. Food, ale, wine, music, drunk singers, drunk dancers, … The party has started for a long time and when you look at your friend with a smirk, he understands what you mean. He already knows your plan and he agreed with you, any pretext is good to annoy Kíli with all the jokes he has made to everyone.
Your friend is quite a good dancer and you have a good time with him. When the dance is over, he takes your hand to get you out from the dance floor, and as Kíli still hasn’t reacted, he presses you against him and kisses you. At first, you’re so surprised that you don’t react, but when you realise what he is doing, you pull away from him. “W-what are you doing? We–You–!” The surprise still makes you lose your words.
Kíli, from where he is, sees everything. Fíli doesn’t need to nudge him, but he does it anyway. “Did you see that? It seems it’s too late for you, brother.” But when Kíli sees you frowning and trying to move away from your friend, he stands up and walks toward you.
Your friend still presses you against him when Kíli arrives. “She doesn’t seem to like it, lad. Maybe you should release her.” The severe tone that Kíli uses surprises you. Your friend releases you immediately and walks away with a smile, without any apology. You will make him pay later.
“Follow me,” Kíli says as he takes your hand and pulls on it. He leads you in a quiet corner. You’re both alone and he ends up asking, “Are you alright?” as he puts his hands on your shoulders.
“No, I’m not. He–he kissed me!” you say, upset and embarrassed to be in front of Kíli after that.
“Yeah, I saw it,” he sighs as he strokes your shoulders, trying to comfort you.
“But-but I didn’t want it!” you exclaim as you raise your head to him, hoping he believes you just with your eyes and your words.
“You danced with him with such a cute smile, and you look like you’re having a good time. I can easily understand him. What did you expect?” Kíli’s eyes betray his calm tone. He tries to hide his irritation, even if his hands start to squeeze your shoulders unintentionally.
“What did I expect? I expected you would be jealous! I expected you would steal me from him!” you exclaim, hitting his chest with such weak strength that Kíli doesn’t even move. “I expected you would kiss me!”
You try to calm down, but you still exhale noisily from the nose, like a bull about to change its prey. Avoiding his eyes, you don’t see him smiling and says, “You danced with him on purpose to make me jealous.” It isn’t a question. “You should have come straight to me if you wanted to kiss me,” he resumes as one of his hands goes up to your cheek and the other goes down to your waist.
“I want you to kiss me only if you like me!” You look at him seriously. “Oh amrâlimê, it’s not a problem,” he whispers before kissing you.
Note: I always end up with an idiot in love with Kíli. I should try to change one day 🤷‍♀️

Bilbo
Bilbo and you started to court since the quest, and now you live with him in Bag End. You’re even betrothed, but no one knows yet.
You absolutely don’t know any Hobbits’ habits or customs, but you’re glad Bilbo teaches you them every day. They are simple and always nice.
Speaking of nice, Lobelia and her son Lotho are nicer than you thought compared to what Bilbo told you. You feel Lobelia doesn’t like you but she’s not mean to you, and her son helped you sometimes when you were lost in the marketplace.
Then speaking of Hobbits’ customs, tonight is one of Bilbo’s uncle's birthdays. You’re both invited, in fact almost everyone is. Bilbo doesn’t want to leave his home, but you are finally able to convince him.
When you say ‘birthday’, you say ‘cake’! As you’re walking with two plates of the birthday cake, one for you and the other for Bilbo, Lotho joins you with a smile. He is with his friends but he talks to you.
“Is this piece of cake for me?” he asks, showing a plate.
As you want to stay friendly with him, you nod with a smile, “yes, you can take it if you want.” Then, he takes it while one of his friends says, “Now the kiss!”
You look at him strangely, not understanding what he’s talking about. Lotho laughs lightly, “It’s just an old hobbit’s custom. When someone gives you a piece of cake, you must kiss him on the mouth, otherwise it's bad luck for the person who gets the cake.”
“Oh,” it’s the only thing you can say with a step away. Even if you don’t want to kiss him, you don't want to get Bilbo in trouble. So you kiss him quickly and all his friends shout of joy.
Bilbo, who was looking for you and his piece of cake, hears Lotho’s friends shooting and sees you in the middle of them with a strange behaviour. He walks to you with a smile, asking if everything is alright. You're hesitant to ask him if what you did is really a hobbit’s custom, but you’re too embarrassed to speak.
Then, Lotho says, “Your woman’s lips taste great!”. His friends laugh with him.
“I beg your pardon?” Bilbo politely asks as he turns to him. Then, he turns back to you and notices your eyes getting wet. “What did you do, Lotho?”
“Me? Nothing,” Lotho continues to smile. “She is the one who kisses me. Right, Y/n?” This sly hobbit waited for a long time to find a way to break your relationship. Like his mother, he doesn't want to start a family with his cousin and so, keep him away from Bag End even more.
When Bilbo turns once again to you, you try to explain to him, but you can’t. You try to run away, but he grabs your hand. “What was it? Hmm strawberries and wine, I think,” Lotho continues.
Bilbo ignores him and takes your other hands. His eyes reassure you and you eventually explain everything to him. When you start apologising, he lets go of your hands and walks to Lotho, who is still laughing with his friends.
Without waiting, Bilbo grabs Lotho by the collar of his shirt and pulls him toward him. “I’m not a violent hobbit, but Lotho, I can promise you if you touch her once again, you won’t be able to speak for days. Have I made myself clear?”
You’re as frozen as Lotho’s friends. As for Lotho, Bilbo's grip is so firm that he can hardly speak. After Bilbo asks him again, he stammers a positive answer. He eventually lets him go and gives a last look to his friends before joining you.
You have never seen him so upset, not even during the quest. He takes your hands and pulls on it. You lean to him and he kisses you passionately. “Follow me home, we have to erase it better,” he whispers in your ear.
Note: The protective behaviour of the dwarves has rubbed off on him. 🤭

𝐘𝐨𝐮❜𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐞
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary ➳ Thranduil’s words ring in your head as reality of your immortality hits. You should’ve known that it was too good to be true.
(A/n) ➳ Inspired by “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele. This is going to have two other endings, one happy ending and angst ending.
Word Count ➳ 1.4k
Content Warnings ➳ Female reader, Reader is an Elf, pet names (amrâlimê, meleth nîn), heavy angst, mentions of death, mentions of violence…
Tumblr media
Thranduil’s words hit you hard when you were brought in front of him while the rest were locked up. He sat cockily on this throne and spat out words that enraged you right down to the core. But it made sense… You were an Elf, not a half-Elf. You cannot choose between immortality or mortality.
You would walk the lands of Middle-Earth until you were struck down or go to Valinor. Dwarves live long but not close enough to compare to an Elves’s lifespan. Even so… Even after death, Kili will go where you cannot follow.
“If you love him, and you are confident that he loves you. It would be best if you parted ways now or until either of you die on the field.” Thranduil spoke soft and low. “You have enough time in your life to find another or none at all. You will face his death or he will face your immortality. It’s a relationship that will never hold happiness.”
“I can’t go with you Kili.” You pulled your hand from him while stepping back into the direction of Mirkwood. “I cannot continue with you all.”
“W-What do you mean?” Kili was already in pain, was it the adrenaline or the pain throbbing from his thigh that was keeping him from thinking the worst? “Come on, we don’t have enough time. The orcs are on our tail.”
“Let me rephrase…” You took a deep breath to relax your beating heart and to clutch the hilt of your stolen sword tightly. “I’m not coming. This is where my journey ends.”
“You can’t say that! You’re part of the company-!”
“I am part of no company. I came with you all out of pity.”
“You’re lying!”
“This is where it ends for me-!”
“Enough!” Thorin interrupted, marching to you and Kili, he was already angry, tired, and completely drenched. “If she wishes to leave then let her! We have no time to carry dead weight!” He said before turning back to the rest of the Company who were trying to decide what to do.
“(Y/n), surely this isn’t you. You cannot turn back now, we are so close.” Kili pleaded with you, using whatever strength to stand on his own.
“Kili-”
He snatched your hands, holding them together in his own bloody hands to lay a kiss on them. “Please, do not go. Don’t go where I won’t be able to follow. I want you to lay your eyes on my home, I want to do it with you.”
He looked up at you with watery eyes and a tear falling…
Kili then gripped your shirt with both of his hands to pull you down into a frantic kiss. His lips quivered as he held back the urge to burst into tears right in front of you and the rest. “I beg you, amrâlimê.”
“...Goodbye, Kili.” You pulled away once more and could see everyone staring at you. You gave no time for them to say anything, only a silent nod in Thorin’s direction before rushing back to Mirkwood and hopefully talking of leaving the forest the same way you came in, even if it met you’d have to face the spiders again.
You chose to lay down your sword and leave for Rivendell to spend your many years in solace until you were ready to sail to Valinor. You believed that Thranduil informed Lord Elrond that you were on your way since he welcomed you with open arms but he refused to say anything.
There were many Elves, but not once have you attempted to have conversations with them. You kept to yourself, reading, walking, eating and then bed, almost like a pattern.
It continued for months until you received two letters. One from Thranduil and one from Kili. But they were delivered at the same time, the messenger explained that Thranduil let Kili write to you one last time.
Thranduil wrote to you, his words solidified your choice to leave the Company behind. Yet there was guilt still residing since what you said was a lie. You joined because you genuinely wanted to help, you hoped that it would’ve been easier on the rest.
When it came to Kili’s letter, you wanted to push it aside, hoping to read it when you felt ready. But you knew you couldn’t push it back anymore.
‘Amrâlimê,
It has been some time since I’ve last felt your warmth, or heard your voice, or held your hands. I miss the way you speak in rhymes, or stories of your adventures and battles. I wished you too could have laid your eyes on Erebor, and I’m still sure you will love it here. Everyone knows you didn’t mean those words, they didn’t take it to heart. They wish for your return as well, as do I.
I wish to spend the rest of my days with you and you alone, and if I must come and find you then I will. You have my heart, you have me in your hands, and my home isn’t truly home if you aren’t there with me.’
You still had a second page to read but you broke down, sobbing as you held the letter like your life depended on it. You were fighting with yourself, you were desperate to rush back to Erebor and see him.
But Thranduil’s words once again rang through your head. You can go back to Kili but then face his death or you could stay here but still face his death… Either way, he dies in the end. There was no way around it.
Lord Elrond comes into your line of sight, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. You managed to slow your tears and clear your throat. “When is the next ship to Valinor going to leave?”
“If you make this decision, you cannot go back.” Lord Elrond warned you. “You still have time to be with him. Do not make a decision you will regret.”
“I’ve had my time, I know my choice. Kili should be with his people.”
“(Y/n)-”
“Kili shall receive my sword, Fili will get my knives, Thorin will have my collection of jewels, and Bilbo will be gifted my journals.” You looked back at the nicely boxed items. “The rest can get a choice of my belongings.”
“You have planned this out from the start, haven’t you?”
“Elves can only love Elves, it’s easier without heartbreak.” You folded Kili’s letter neatly. “I would like to thank you for the hospitality.”
“A group is leaving now.” Lord Elrond can see that you weren’t going to change your mind, he sighed and nodded. “I wish you well (Y/n).”
“Thank you once again, Elrond.” You grabbed your cloak and wrapped it around your shoulders as you left your room and towards the group of Elves leaving for Valinor as well.
‘Kili,
From the day you sought me out and I watched you climb that tree to proclaim how you wished to be with me. Or the hours by the campfire exchanging stories. It saddens me that this will be my final words to you, if there was some other way for us to be together without it being painful then trust me when I say I would run right back to you.
You amazed me each day, the jokes, your skills, you will continue to surprise me from this day and until my last. I will think back to you and your smile, but please understand that my decision is for the best.
With all of my life, meleth nîn. Someday, we shall meet again but not in this world.’
“This is a lie.” Kili slammed his hands on the table. “Where is she?!”
“Kili!” Fili pulled him back.
“I speak nothing but the truth, she left for Valinor, she’s days away if not then boarding the ships.” Elrond informed the two brothers. “Either way, she’s gone, beyond your reach.”
But Kili still refused, he shook his head angrily. “That’s still a chance.”
“You won’t be able to change her mind.” Fili warned him.
“If she wanted to… She would say it to my face.” He rushed off, nearly taking a tumble down the steps.
Fili chased after him, grabbing his arm to stop him. “You heard what the Elf said, she could be boarding the ships.”
“Or days away!” Fili froze as he saw tears swell his eyes. “I cannot let her go, I promised myself that wherever she goes, I will go. I could not do it the first time, but I am now.”

Kili Durin x Reader
Words: 5245
Summary: With his betrothed in battle beside him, the two seem an unstoppable force. However, one fatal moment may prove to be the end.
Notes: I’m kind of making up a little backstory for Kili where he and Fili work as mercenaries, helping smaller towns fight of orcs. Also, I know his last name isn’t technically Durin, but it makes it easier for my brain to categorize his imagines. This was mainly just because I wanted to write the scene from Desolation of Smaug, but reverse the roles. I didn’t make it the same poison though for the sake of my narrative. You know I’m a sucker for angst and peril. Also, I did my best to find stuff to make it accurate, but like I said, I just worked with how I wanted my narrative to go.
Warnings: Violence, peril, angst
More Imagines: HERE
-
The clash of metal challenged the pounding of your heart in your ears. Adrenaline pumped through your veins, its familiar power fueling your quick steps and even quicker swings with your sword.
Your foul enemy scattered around the opening in the trees where the battle waged. You turned your head, finding your partners in this mission only yards away, occupied by a dozen orcs closing in on them. Making quick work of your current sparring partner, you lept across branches and bodies to join them.
“Having fun without me, boys?” You snarked.
“You seemed to be enjoying yourself well enough,” Fili smiled, showing no toll of the fight in his excited eyes.
“With those fools?” You scoffed. “Child’s play.”
The circle of orcs snarled and snapped their disgusting teeth at you. They stepped closer, pushing the three of you together. An arm brushed against yours. When you turned again, the dark, loving eyes of the man you were to marry sparkled at the sight of yours.
Kili smirked. “Ready?”
“Aren’t I always?”
His lips spread into a smile and he kneeled before you, lacing his fingers together to give you a foothold. With a final, confident glance between you, Kili launched you into the air, over the horde of enemies heading your way. You cleanly cut one’s head from his shoulder before even reaching the ground.
The brothers fought on their side while you took on your own set of orcs now switching their attention to you.
Foe after foe they fell to your expert swordsmanship and surprising stamina. Kili and Fili fared just as well, cutting down or shooting over half of the lot in minutes. You raised your arm for another fatal blow, but a pair of arms locked around you with crushing force. The sharp end of a battle axe sliced the front of your leather armor while the pressure of your captor’s grip made your ribs crack inside your chest.
You flung your head back, the crunch of the orc’s nasal cavity ringing through your head with the ripples of pain that spread from the impact. It released you and you stumbled forward.
“Kili, dear!” you exclaimed breathlessly. You slashed again at one of your opponents, the second of the pair starting to box you in. “Your assistance, please!”
The stretch of a bowstring was music to your ears.
“With pleasure, darling,” the dwarven prince growled.
The arrow flew through the air, striking one of your attackers between the eyes. You finished off the second with a slice to the throat.
Fili plunged his sword into the remaining orc’s chest and slid it out in one clean motion. You found a tree to lean against while you caught your breath, each inhale making your ribs ache. From what you could tell, one or two seemed cracked, but none felt broken. Kili was at your side in seconds.
“Are you hurt, my love.”
You smiled, the worry in his eyes warming your heart, and wiped a smear of blood off of his cheek with your thumb. “Nothing I cannot walk off, dear.”
A mischievous grin replaced his concern and he wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you closer until you were pressed to his chest. The motion may have hurt at first, but his lips on yours quickly remedied any aching.
“At least wait until we get back to the tavern, brother,” Fili groaned, rolling his eyes.
“Aw, poor Fili,” you teased, pulling away from your betrothed and putting a hand on his brother’s shoulder. “We’ll find a woman for you yet.”
Fili ignored your mocking tone and playfully punched your shoulder, earning an involuntary grimace.
“I’m afraid my brother’s humor has rubbed off on you, Y/N. It’s unbecoming,” he laughed.
“It’s a good thing the two of you don’t keep me around for my ladylike sensibilities then,” you fired back with a snicker.
You helped collect any intact arrows from the orcs that littered the glade and returned them to Kili’s quiver. Surveying your victory, you took his hand.
“Another village protected,” you said. “People may sleep peacefully again thanks to us.”
His eyes darkened and looked to the trees. “For now.”
You followed his gaze and felt the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Goose pimples dotted your arms beneath your armor. You shuddered. Though you couldn’t see it, something seemed to lurk just beyond the touch of the light. Perhaps it wasn’t there now, but, like Kili, you could feel it coming. The orcs were getting bolder and you feared your interference wasn’t making any difference.
Kili looked to you again and the light returned to his expression. “I think we’ve earned ourselves some ale, don’t you?”
“I couldn’t agree more,” Fili cheered, smacking his brother’s back.
You forgot your worries and smiled at them, locking your arms with both. The Princes of Durin had been the only family you’d ever known. And, despite their mother’s objections, together, the three of you had gone into the mercenary business- at least until their uncle and rightful king Thorin called them away to take back their homeland in Erebor. You’d always thought it a far-off dream, but both men were convinced the day would come when they would battle the dragon and return to the Lonely Mountain. Of course, when Kili asked you for your hand in marriage, you adopted this mission as your own and the three of you had been together ever since.
The village rejoiced to see you step out of the woods, praising your trio for your bravery and skill. They came forward with pouches of gold. Everything they had.
“We can’t rob them of their livelihood,” you whispered to your partners.
“It’s not robbing them if it's offered,” Fili muttered, earning an elbow to the side from his brother.
“Y/N is right,” Kili said. A touch of pink reached his cheeks under the gaze of your proud smile. He turned to the villagers. “Please, we do not wish for reward or riches. Seeing those vermin exterminated is enough for us.”
Fili opened his mouth to argue. He clamped it shut again when your stare turned deadly. He glared at you and pouted, but said nothing.
“You must let us repay you,” the village leader pleaded. “We wouldn’t have survived the night if not for you.”
Fili stepped forward. “Well if you insist-”
You slammed an arm to his chest and pushed him behind you. “All we request is refreshment and somewhere to spend the night.” Fili huffed behind you. You hit him again to silence him. “If you would be so kind.”
“That can surely be arranged,” the man beamed. He guided you towards the center of town, where people had already begun to gather with baskets of fruits and joyful instruments. “Come, allow us to at least hold a celebration in your honor.”
Kili gave you a sideways glance and you couldn’t help but laugh as his usual impish grin spread across his face.
“That, I believe, we can accept,” he said.
The music swelled and your love took your hand, pulling you into the dance. Your feet matched the quick shuffle of the crowd. Kili grabbed one arm and you took the arm of the person next to you, picking up the steps with ease. A circle went around the musicians, swaying one way and taking a jumping step the other. Boisterous laughter enveloped you from the people you saved. It reminded you of why you were here. To keep places like this alive. The hearts of Middle Earth lived in the smiles of the people around you.
While your gaze followed the circle around you, Kili’s remained solely on your beaming face. Any ache from the battle was banished from his chest, replaced by the warmth of adoration. The way you lit up like a star in the twilight when you let yourself be happy- even if it was only for a moment.
Of the three of you, you were the one that seemed to feel the perils of these people the keenest. Every burned cottage, every grave, and every lost soul you came across settled into your heart. He could see it in your eyes the same way he could see the relief there now. When your gaze finally found his again, the glittering joy in your irises overtook him.
A laugh sang from your lips as Kili twirled you into his arms. The two of you stepped out of the group, creating your own dance, closer and locked in each other's arms. Facing each other, your eyes never left his and the rest of the world muted into a muffled celebration.
And, in that moment, you wanted to marry him.
You didn’t want to take another breath, speak another word, or win another fight unless you could be his wife.
But you knew what his answer would be. Kili wanted a home, a place you could call your own, together, before you were to be wed. Having spent his whole life wandering, he wanted a place to belong before you fully belonged to each other.
Each day that dream seemed further away and each day you feared how long you’d still have to become one.
“Something troubles you, my love?” Kili halted his feet and lifted a hand to your cheek.
You smiled and opened your mouth to answer.
A movement stopped you. A reflection in the firelight between the trees.
An arrow just over Kili’s shoulder, aimed for his heart.
The word left your lips like a breath. “No.”
Suddenly, you were moving before you knew what you were doing. You put an arm on Kili’s chest and pushed him aside. You placed yourself between him and the shadowed archer just as the arrow left its riser.
In the dark, you could just see the orc’s crimson eyes. Its hateful stare pierced your skull the moment its arrow pierced the soft skin beneath your collarbone and beside your shoulder.
You processed your beloved’s horrified roar before you processed your pain.
The impact forced your feet back and you found yourself falling. Your body prepared to hit the ground, finding arms waiting instead. People rushed around you, yet they seemed to move in slow motion past you. They blurred together, a frenzied mass that made your head spin.
The only focus point you had was the panicked face of Kili hovering above you.
“Fili!” He called out.
“You must go. If there are more of them, they must be stopped. Leave me,” you croaked. “Help the people.”
“I will tend to you first.” He pulled you more into his arms, kneeling down so you didn’t have to stand. “Fili!” He yelled again.
A flash of blonde hurried past you.
“He won’t get away, brother!” The older prince shouted back, sword drawn and ready. The glint of his weapon disappeared into the dark forest.
The moment of chaos sharpened abruptly as the adrenaline hit. You shot up despite the arrow sticking out of your flesh. Your other hand reached for the shaft and tore it away. You clamped your lips closed to muffle the pained cry in your throat.
“What are you doing?” Kili tried to force you back down, applying pressure to your now gushing wound.
“If there are more, these people aren’t prepared to fight,” you gasped through the searing pain. “And Fili cannot do it alone.”
“You are in no state for battle.”
“I’m fine,” you snapped. “Let me go.”
His grip loosened enough for you to slip away, stumbling after the others into the woods. Kili’s objecting shouts were soon overtaken by the night air whirling by your ears. Villagers ran beside you with farming tools for weapons. You reached for the short sword on your hip. Your limbs screamed in protest. The rush in your blood urged you on, though clouded your perception. Before you realized it, you were no longer part of the harried mob.
You stood alone in the trees, any sounds of the pursuit distant and quiet.
A new wave of pain crashed over you, rippling out from your shoulder. It was almost blinding. You’d been struck with blades and arrowheads before, but you’d never experienced pain like this. Something was wrong.
“K-Kili!” You stammered. Your voice came out as a croaking sob. The forest offered no response. Tears stung the corners of your eyes, accompanied by dark spots across your vision. “Fili!” You lifted your eyes to use the stars to guide you back, but they spun around you like fireflies.
“Y/N!” The voice came to you from all directions. You jerked your head around, trying to place it.
“Kili.” His name hardly even came out as a breath now. You turned again, this time catching your foot on a branch and landing on your shoulder in the damp leaves. The scream that ripped from your lungs was almost inhuman.
And it was the last thing you heard before your body did the one thing it could to protect you from the insanity-inducing pain.
You slept.
-
The arrow might as well have pierced his heart, for it couldn’t tell the difference between the fatal blow and how he felt, carrying your trembling, unconscious form in his arms.
“Someone help me!” He cried. A terror he’d never felt before coated his every word as he pleaded with passing villagers, all running to safety for fear of another attack.
“Kili?” You stirred weakly, looking at him through your lashes. Your breathing strained, painful with every inhale. He shifted you in his arms. You didn’t have enough energy to scream anymore, so your cry was merely a whimpering gasp.
“I know, love. I’m sorry, I know it hurts,” he said, heart breaking with every muted wail from your lips. “I’m going to find someone to help you.”
“I don’t…” Your words trailed off as you struggled to stay away. “I don’t understand. It was… it was just an a-arrow.”
Kili grimaced.
He should have seen it. He’s an archer, for fate’s sake. He should have seen the mark of a poisoned arrow the minute you tore it from your shoulder.
And it was meant for him.
Kili spotted the man he’d met earlier in the week, Hallam, who said he had medicinal knowledge. Seeing you in the dwarf’s arms, Hallam hurried over.
“Please,” Kili begged. “You have to help her.” His words caught in his throat. “It’s poison.”
Hallam glanced at the already festering wound and nodded with a grim frown. “Follow me.”
“What about the orc?” You wheezed, trying to turn your head back to the forest.
Hallam led Kili into his cottage and cleared off the long dining table for him to lay you on. Kili set you down as gently as he could.
“We have to fight,” you said. When you tried to sit up, Kili held you down by your unmarred shoulder.
“Fili knows what he’s doing. I’m sure everything will be fine.” He glimpsed at your wound. Your blood had turned thick and almost black. He looked away. “Everything will be fine, darling. Just please lie still.”
He hushed your objections and tucked your hair behind your ear. “All will be alright, my love.” He said it again and again as if they weren’t mere words of reassurance but a plea to the stars.
“Do you have the arrow?” Hallam asked. He set out a roll of herbs and tools on the bench beside you. Kili’s face fell even more. Hallam waved a hand at the prince. “Go. Find it. Hopefully, it can give me some answers that will help.” In the growing haze in your mind, you noted that the man sounded far from optimistic.
Kili swallowed hard and stood. You reached for his hand, the motion sending more blinding shocks up your arm.
“Don’t…” You choke out. “Leave.” Your fingers grip his hand with as much energy as you could muster.
For him, it was barely more than a touch.
Hallam’s dire stare watched your darkening wound. You could feel his harrowing dejection practically burrow into you. It fueled your fearful tone.
“I want you here-” You said softly. “I need you here if I should-”
Kili stopped you before you could finish. “That isn’t going to happen.” He knelt, bringing your hand to his lips without having to move your festering arm. “I will return shortly, love.”
He stood and rushed back outside where people were returning from the forest.
Hallam stood over you, peeling back the tear in your tunic to get a better look at your injury. You ignored the sting and turned your head to look at him, catching a glimpse of the culprit of your pain. A river of black and crimson seeped down the fabric of your sleeve. The gaping hole in your flesh revealed a sliver of what you could only assume to be your collarbone. Worst of all, purplish veins bulged under the blood smears, stretching more and more across your chest.
“Tell me,” you pleaded. “Am I going to die?”
Hallam finally lifted his eyes from the gore and looked into yours. He muttered something under his breath, a prayer, maybe. “Not if I can help it.”
-
Kili was guided back to Hallam’s cottage by the sound of your screams. With the trampled projectile in hand, his feet carried him as fast as he could move, blurring by the celebrating villagers.
Turns out, the orc that shot you was a lone survivor of the group they’d defeated. One man triumphantly strode down the path with the creature’s head in hand. The threat was gone.
And yet your wails of anguish rang over the cheering crowd.
He kept running. Somewhere from the fray, his brother emerged. Usually, Fili’s presence was enough to dispel his younger brother’s worries, but Kili’s frantic gaze merely turned to him with terrified urgency.
Fili surveyed the congested courtyard that lay between them and you. Kili’s desperate dodging was only getting him so far and your cries were growing louder.
The blonde dwarf climbed on top of a stationed cart and cupped his hands to his lips.
“Everybody out of the way!” He boomed.
Sure enough, the eyes of the grateful villagers turned to him, as well as his brother’s. Fili gave him a nod. Enough of the crowd stepped out of Kili’s path that he could break through and Fili quickly followed.
With the celebratory noise silenced, all anyone could hear was the wrenching cries coming from within the house.
“I’ve got it.” Kili burst through the door and thrust the arrowhead at Hallam, who was doing his best to hold you down and apply pressure to stop some of your bleeding.
Every time something touched your shoulder or arm, however, it felt as though white-hot claws were digging into your skin, so your body couldn’t help but try and fight him off of you. Your eyes were so blinded by tears, you didn’t see the dwarven princes enter. It was Kili’s voice that was able to soothe your racing mind.
“I’m here now,” he said.
“You,” Hallam barked at Fili. “Apply pressure while I try and figure out what’s doing this.” When he removed his hand, you almost breathed a sigh of relief, but Fili’s replaced it, making you cry out all over again.
Kili laid a hand on your cheek. “I know, darling. I know it hurts. I’m sorry.”
He silenced the sob caught in his throat. What you needed now was strength. His weakness would do nothing to save you.
“Oromȅ help us,” Hallam muttered, standing over the broken arrow, his face turned ghostly pale.
“What is it?” Fili hollered over your thrashing. “Can you save her?”
Hallam’s eyes gave him his answer.
Kili leapt across the bench and took the man by the collar. “You have to do something,” he growled, tears threatening to spill over.
Hallam put his hands on top of the dwarves and urged them away from him. He thought for a moment.
“There may be something, but we must work quickly, and I’m afraid it’s going to be very unpleasant for her.”
Kili looked at you. Clenching your jaw shut to try and stop your cries, you nodded. He faced Hallam.
“Do it.”
The healer threw open his cabinets and grasped a handful of what looked like dried flower bulbs. He crushed them up with a mortar and then, with a dark look, he set them alight. The bits crackled and burst with the flame. He hovered the bowl over your injury.
Kili grabbed his wrist. “Are you mad?” He stared at the reddish-pink fire, making his eyes water even more.
“It may be our only hope,” Hallam said. He put on a thick leather glove and shifted his gaze between the two brothers. “I’ll need you to hold her down. This is going to hurt.”
Kili’s wide eyes found his brother’s. Fili tightened his grip on your arm and moved a hand to your knee. He gave Kili a look that asked if they had any other choice.
You watched them through half-closed eyes, almost hoping your body would render you unconscious once again if only to stop you from feeling this pain. But if these were the last moments you had with your beloved… you didn’t want to waste them.
Kili put an arm across your chest and leaned down, pressing a kiss to your burning forehead.
Hallam poured the fiery mixture and the smell of burning flesh and sizzling blood flooded Kili’s senses.
Your screams before were whispers compared to the sounds that shook your chest. Hallam smashed his hand against your wound, ensuring that the herbs stayed put while you thrashed and fought against the two dwarves holding you down.
“Kili, make it stop!” You shrieked. Any thought of being healed was lost to your blinded mind. All you wanted was for it to end. “Kili, please!”
“Steady,” Hallam instructed. He began to wrap the still-smoking wound, sealing everything into your skin.
Kili held himself against you, his head against your chest. His tears fell to your tunic and he screwed his eyes shut, listening to the rapid beating of your heart.
“There,” Hallam gasped breathlessly. Your seizing slowed until you were still.
“Is that it?” Fili asked. “Is she healed?”
Kili did not lift his head. He stayed there as your heart began to slow to a normal pace. When he opened his eyes, Hallam couldn't face them.
“If the poison has failed to reach her heart, she will live.”
Fili glanced down at you and then back to the healer. “And if it has?”
Hallam removed his glove and set it aside, along with the smoldering bowl. “Then there is nothing any of us can do.”
Kili sat up but kept his arm across your torso. Your chest rose and fell with great effort. With his other hand, he rubbed soothing circles against your palm.
“How are we to know?” He asked.
Hallam sighed and finally turned around. “If she makes it through the night.” He left to allow them to say their possible goodbyes and said to fetch him if there was any change in her condition.
And so the room fell into silence, with only the sound of the crackling fire and your strained breaths. Outside, the celebration continued as if nothing had happened.
“You should go,” you uttered weakly. “Both of you. We were never a crew to turn down a party.” You managed a laugh and squeezed Kili’s hand. “We won.”
“There is still a battle that must be fought, my love.” He brought your hand to his lips.
Your smile saddened. “No,” you swallowed. “I don’t believe there is.” You forced your head to turn so you could look upon the man you could have called brother. “Fili, could you give us a moment?”
He knelt on the bench beside you, his hand still on your arm.
“Only if you promise to still be here when I come back,” he said.
“I will try.”
Fili gave his brother a nod of reassurance and you a kiss on the forehead. He joined Hallam in the other room.
The silence returned as you mustered the courage to say what you needed.
“Kili-”
“There is always still a fight. You heard what Hallam said. All isn’t lost, my light.” The crack in his hopeful voice was enough to break your already weakened heart.
You spoke again, but firmer so he would have to listen. “Kili, listen to me. I need you to promise me something.” With all of your strength, you tried to sit up.
Kili climbed onto the table to pull you into his lap. His arms held you close to his chest. If this was to be your final rest, you were glad it was locked in his embrace.
“Anything.”
“Promise me you’ll find it,” you cried. “All your life you have been searching to belong. Searching for a home. Promise me that you and Fili will find it.”
Kili, unable to contain his grief, buried his face in your neck, kissing your skin with his sobs. You ran your fingers through his hair and glanced out at the stars.
“I always pictured it,” you mused. “Our home.”
You could see it now as you told him of it.
“There would be shelves upon shelves full of stories from our adventures. And a spare room for when Fili came to stay,” you laughed. In your mind, Kili’s smile on the face of a little girl and a boy with your eyes sent pangs through your heart. You held him closer. “And targets in the yard where you could teach archery to the children.”
He pulled away, his tearful eyes gazing deeply into yours.
Kili knew, now more than ever, that the only place he would ever really belong was by your side.
“Let us be married,” he said.
You laughed and it became a cough. “I’m afraid flattery will not slow the inevitable, dear.”
“It is not jest. I mean it.” Kili reached under his collar and pulled a chain from around his neck. Around it hung two rings, both of glistening silver. One band bore Kili’s crest and the other was crowned with a clear, white gem that sparkled like starlight. “I have been a fool to wait until now, but, if you will have me, I don’t want to put off another moment.”
You wanted to object. You couldn’t bind the man you loved to a phantom. He deserved more than that. But the hope in his eyes and the smile playing on his lips stopped you. If you were to leave this world, you wanted to do so as his wife.
You lifted your hand to his cheek. “I want nothing more than to marry you.”
The despair in his heart was pushed aside by a bright excitement and he called in Hallam and his brother.
“What is it, what happened?”
Kili looked to the other man. “You’re this village’s holy man, as well, correct?”
Hallam frowned. “I can perform the last rites ceremony, if that is what you wish.”
“No, it isn’t that.” Kili shifted so you were fully in his arms and could lean against him for strength. “Will you marry us?”
“Now?” Fili exclaimed.
You gave him a weak smile. “Now may be the only time.”
“Of course,” Hallam said, bustling around to find the correct texts.
It wasn’t as you imagined, of course, but as Hallam read the words, the rest of the world fell away. All that was left was you, the man you loved, and the rings.
Fili even seemed to tear up from his place by the fire.
You slipped the ring onto Kili’s finger, reveling in the spark of his touch. It alone gave you the energy to stay awake.
He took your hand in his and put on the ring, pressing your hand against his chest to feel his heartbeat.
“With my brother as witness, let us not waste another moment,” he cried. “Let this binding of our souls mean that we can never be parted.” Kili kissed your lips as if for the last time. “You are my wife. And nothing in this life will ever take me from you. Not even the end of it.”
“It is done,” Hallam sighed with a small, bittersweet smile. He could only hope you would live long enough for it to matter.
“Kili,” you gasped, your grip tightening on his tunic as another shock of pain rushed through you. He held you tighter.
“Amrâlimê,” he whispered. “Stay with me. Please.”
You spoke with panting, agonized breaths. “At least I may sleep… home in your arms.” You lifted yourself to kiss him one more time. “For you were the only home I ever needed.”
“Do not part from me, I beg you,” his words choked on sobs. “I love you.”
“And I you.”
You closed your eyes.
Kili collapsed against you, pulling you so tightly to his chest that Fili could not tell where he ended and you began. His cries filled the cottage- shaking screams of anguish that quaked through his whole being.
And the stars, in their cruelness, shined on.
-
Three Weeks Later
The sword clashed against his vambrace. The impact vibrated down his arm and sent him reeling. The man swung again and Kili barely blocked it with his own weapon.
This was not going well.
The band of thieves had at first seemed easy enough to defeat, but with the final three and strongest men left, things were looking bleak for the dwarf princes.
Kili fell back, his foot catching on a fallen branch. The man sneered and raised a death blow.
A flash of silver and a garbled gasp sent blood spattering across Kili’s face. The man’s hand went to his throat, where a dagger now resided. The thief fell with a sick thud.
Kili turned to his rescuer.
You held out your hand.
“That’s four for me and,” you tapped your chin with a smirk, “only two for you. Foiled again, ay darling?”
Kili took your hand and pulled you down to him. Laughing, you tumbled onto his chest. Any aches from your shoulder had long since faded, the miracle of Hallam’s healing having done its job.
His lips collided with yours with fervor.
“Ah, well I’m glad you two turned up fine while I caught the rest of them,” Fili huffed, appearing from the brush with an annoyed frown. He jutted a thumb to two tied-up thieves that would face the laws of the city they’d stolen from.
The two of you carried on just as he found you.
“Right.” He rolled his eyes. “I’ll take care of it myself.”
When you did finally pull away, you snickered at Fili’s annoyance and Kili wrapped his arms around you, locking you pressed to his chest. You looked into his eyes and saw everything you’d ever dreamed of. He looked into yours and saw everything he’d almost lost. The darkness of the memory overtook him, but only for a moment. You kissed the tip of his nose and his smile returned.
“My husband,” you mused with a playful grin.
He tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear and kept his hand on your cheek. His gaze held enough love to reach the stars.
“My home.”

My Lover, My Monarch, My Friend (Thorin Oakenshield x GN Reader)

Thorin knows something is off with you, but he couldn’t pinpoint why his lover is so closed off recently. He notices you training more and more each day. You both don’t take your romantic baths together anymore. You both haven’t been intimate in a long time. Not that, that’s all he care about, he fell in love with your mind before all else. Though maybe it was your voice when you talked. The way your lips moved and how soft they looked, but still that voice would only speak when you had something brilliant to say. He hasn’t really heard your voice in a long time unless it was the small grunts and panting breath from training. You seem to be getting more and more tired recently, your stamina has been dropping and he is worried for you. You’re more pale and have been having constipation so he assumed that you were sick. He has offered his best healers and yet you refuse. Every injury you sustain on the training goes overlooked  -Not by him but by you-
As of right now Thorin is in the dining hall waiting for your arrival. You both haven’t eaten any meals together in a long while. He decides to abandon his meal and grab yours before heading to your bed chambers. He neglects to knock since this is also his room. As he walks in he sees you putting on a night gown. He catches a glimpse of your body for just a moment and his brows knit together for a moment before you turn around with a gasp as the door shuts behind him.
“T-Thorin! I didn’t expect you to come to bed so soon.” You say.
Your eyes glide down to the plate in his hand before looking away. Thorin pauses for a moment before setting the plate down in a seating area in the chambers.
“Would you like to eat  amrâl? (Love)” With out a second thought you shake your head.
Thorin raises a brow. “Aren’t you hungry?” He asks and you shake your head. “No my love. I was about to go to bed.” You say with a false smile.
Thorin looks at you for a moment before he shrugs. He catches you taking a breath of relief which confuses him further, but decides to leave it.
“Let us sleep them my love.” He says as he begins to strip in front of one of the many wardrobes.
He can feel your lustful gaze on him and he smirks, He doesn’t expect anything tonight but he loves the way goose bumps crawl over his skin when he feels you looking at him. Even after fifty years of being together he still gets that way. He hopes you feel the same way he does.
He is now in a pair of sleep pants but lacking the night shirt. He looks down at the scar that litters the middle of his chest. He ignores that for now as he turns to face you. Which you are in bed already facing away from his side. Thorin looks as you bundle a blanket around you despite it being in the heat of summer. Thorin needs to get to the bottom of this. He decides to let himself rest.
The next day he is in the company of Balin.
“You look like you need an ear?” Balin says concerned.
Thorin is silent for a moment. “I am worried for my lover...”
“Why?” Balin asks.
Thorin begins to explain all that has happened, from not joining him at dinner, to refusing his loving advances, whether it be a kiss, cuddle, or making love, He tells his worries of how cold you are when you both do touch, how you shiver in the dead of summer. How you refuse to talk about how you are doing. Balin sighs.
“I don’t think it is in my place to tell. I say be patient and coax them out of this pit they are in.”
“I have tried Balin. I have tri-” Balin cuts him off.
“You might not have tried everything...” He says before removing himself from the room.
Later that night Thorin walks into your shared bedroom and sees you sitting on the furs near the fireplace. He sees that you are also bundled with furs. He takes a moment to sit behind you.
“Hello my amrâl. (Love)” He says as he kisses the back of your head. He feels you lean against him.
He moves your hair away from your shoulder exposing your neck. He begins to place small kisses starting from the back of your ear to open mouth kisses to your shoulder. He begins to nibble and suck loving marks on your skin. His hands come to the front of your body. He feels you shiver against him and he can’t help but smile. He uses his left hand to turn your head toward him. He brings you into a gentle kiss. Your lips are slightly chapped but he ignore it for now as he begins to lay you down against the furs. He feels you tangle your hands in his hair as he places more open mouth kisses on your neck going toward your collar bone. He begins to lift the bottom of your gown while massaging your legs. He pauses his kisses for a moment before continuing up to your torso. As he feels along it you gasp and sit up quickly.
“I-I know what you are doing!” You exclaim and Thorin has a look of shame on his face.
“Why are you refusing to eat?” He asks and you turn away from him.
“My love...” He says in your native tongue. “Please tell me.”
“I... I feel that...Thorin, I can’t...” Thorin begins to protest but stops.
“You don’t have to tell me right now... But I want you to eat my love.” “I ca-” Yes you can. All of us will be there to help you...” Thorin says hoping that his words will get through to you.
Tears begin to collect in your eyes as he brings you into his arms.
“My love you are the most beautiful being in all of Middle Earth... If I have to tell you that and worship your body every hour of the night I will. All I ask is you eat.” He sees you hesitate for a moment before cutting in on your thoughts. “If... If it’s a weight thing that you don’t like... I will glady get you some vegetables. You know... Like what the Elves eat...” He says slowly.
“We can start with that, you can have many beans and nuts for protein.”
“Thorin you do-”  He cuts you off
“I do... You are my lover, my monarch, and my friend... I will not stop until those demons inside your head have left you. Until you believe that my words are true and that you will always look ravishing in my eyes, Even now I can’t keep my hands off you.” He says with a smirk which causes you to giggle.
“Let us sleep. We will start in the morning.” You nod as you both head to bed.
It has been a few months now, and within those few months you went from a vegan diet, to a vegetarian diet and as of right now you are having your first sliver of meat. You feel yourself begin to sweat as you feel the company’s eyes on you. You stab the piece of meat with your fork and sniff it. You feel the urge to gag but your mouth is watering at the same time. You look over to Thorin who has a big smile on his face. You feel the warmth of his heart through his smile and you smile back. You end up stuffing the piece of meat in your mouth and clasping your hand over your mouth as to not spit it out. You chew, and chew, and chew before swallowing. You turn to Thorin who is waiting in anticipation. You open your mouth and lift your tongue as everyone cheers happily. Thorin leaves his seat and brings you into an embrace.
“You did wonderful my love!” He says.
“A true warrior you are my monarch!” Fili says.
“Absolutely! You are so brave your highness!” Kili exclaims.
You feel tears of happiness fill your eyes as you hide your face in his chest.
“I don’t know if I will eat meat that often... I might stay with veggies for a little while longer.” You say sounding small.
“Well this is a great first step. If you wish to stay with your original diet none will judge you. You did such a good job and you continue to make me proud every single day. I hope you always remember that.”
You let out an uncontrollable sob and hug Thorin for dear life. You hear the skidding of chairs against the stone floor before you feel multiple bodies pile on top of your and Thorin’s. You and Thorin let out a laugh as they all continue to complement and cheer for you.
“I’d...” Your voice causes to voices to stand still. “Can I have more beans? They are very good.” Thorin’s eyes and smile widen. as he cups your cheek.
“That’s my lover...” He says as he places a tender kiss on your lips

REQUESTS OPEN REQUESTS OPEN!!! Please I beg for a Kili x reader where reader is knocked off that tower like thing by Azog and Kili has to watch. He ends up surviving and thinking reader is dead when she actually fell on a large pile of snow that took her fall 🥹
This HURTED that is all I WILL SAY:
“Stay here, search the lower levels,” Fili instructed his brother, moving to turn to you, but instead of finding you standing next to him, you were already moving up the stairs to the upper level.
“(Y/n)!” Kili whisper-shouted, worry filling him as you continued as if you didn’t hear him.
“I’ve got this,” You murmured back, not looking over your shoulder because you know the courage you built to walk up these stairs would vanish the minute you saw Kili’s puppy eyes.
“Be careful,” Fili called, making you nod.
“I will search this level, then,” Fili nodded to Kili before the two separated.
As Kili searched the lower level, he made it toward the entrance, confusion filling his being as he did not find any orc lurking like he suspected he would.
“You have to leave here, now! Azog has another army attacking from the North, this watch-tower will be completely surrounded and you will have no way out,” Was all Kili heard before hushed arguing between Dwalin and Thorin filled his ears until–
“This is a trap.” Thorin’s voice shook Kili to his core, his body filling with dread as he looked around, not finding any easy way to get to the upper levels to warn his brother and you.
“Find Fili, Kili, and (Y/n)! Bring them back!” Thorin ordered as Dwalin turned to look at his king.
“Thorin, are you sure about this?”
“Do it,” Thorin reassured, squeezing his shoulder for good luck. “We live to fight another day.”
Hearing movement above him, Kili froze in place. If he went undetected for this long, it’s only a matter of time before his hiding place is found.
The movement soon turned into a dragging sound, your gasps of pain making Kili’s ears perk up, looking up above him in horror.
“(Y/n)!” Thorin called out, desperation in his voice as you were held in the air by Azog.
“This one dies first, then the brothers, and then you, Oakenshield,” Azog swung your body out over the edge of the tower, your hands clawing at his fist as you struggled to get out of his grasp.
“Thorin I’m so sorry,” You called out, tears pouring down your face. You knew what would occur, your heart racing in your chest as you fought with yourself to try and brace for the inevitable. You could not fight or flight. You were trapped.
“You will die last.” Azog pointed his blade towards Thorin, a wicked grin covering his features.
“No… Run!” You screamed out, begging for them to escape.
“Here ends your filthy bloodline!”
At that moment, time seemed to pause. All of your achievements, failures, happy, and sad moments rushed through your mind.
“You bring my boys back to me in one piece, won’t you, (Y/n)?” Dis’ voice echoed in your ears as you recalled her weepy eyes when she found out that not just her brother was leaving for this journey, but her sons and a young woman who she hoped would one day be her daughter-in-law.
“I will, don’t you worry about a thing!” Your cheery voice replied, pulling her in for a big hug as you fought your own fears about the journey ahead of you. “Everything will be alright!”
“I failed you, Dis….” You muttered to yourself, shame and guilt pouring into you.
“I’m so sorry,” You shut your eyes, fresh hot tears pouring down your cheeks as your chest erupted in pain, Azog’s blade piercing through your flesh like butter.
Trying to urge the group to run once more, you found you couldn’t as sobs poured from your lips instead, your body being pushed off his blade and dropped off the ledge like a doll that a child was tired of playing with.
‘Mahal…save them,’ You thought as you descended, your body smacking into the snow and your mind going blank as darkness pushed over your consciousness.
“No, please-” Kili sobbed, watching as your body descended, his heart feeling as if it was ripped from his chest as he watched his beloved- his One- descend to her death.
“Kili! We need to go!” Fili grabbed his arm, pulling him from the watch tower to race toward Thorin.
“(Y/n)!” He shouted at his brother, “I need to go back!--”
“She would want you alive to give her a proper burial, let’s go!” Fili grabbed the back of Kili’s tunic to help pull him as Kili fought to remain by your side, to get to spend your final moments together- where he could tell you all the things he wished he told you on the Journey.
Tumblr media
It was cold when you awoke. Vision blurry as you tried to look around you, starting to push your body up to sit, only for a whimper to escape your lips. You were still bleeding.
“H…Help!” You called out, not knowing what else to do in this state. Either help would come, or Azog would return to finish the job. Regardless, you accepted whatever option would come to you.
“Over here!” You heard voices shout as you tried to sit up again.
“I’m here!” You called, gasping in pain as you slammed back against the snow bank.
“(Y/N)?!” Balin gasped, racing toward you. “Tell the lads she’s alive!” Balin shouted to Ori as Oin began to assess your injuries, Ori scurrying off to give them the good news.
“How are you alive?!” Oin questioned as he helped get you into a sitting upright position so he could wrap your injuries.
“I have no idea,” You answered honestly, trying to focus on your breathing as he tightened the wrap.
“This will be enough until we can get you down to the medical tent-”
“Ori, if you are lying to me I’m going to skin you alive.” Kili’s uncharacteristically serious voice caught your attention, tears springing to your eyes.
“Kili?” Your voice was laced with disbelief as you saw him come around a large rock, a sob leaving you the instant he came into your view.
“You’re alive,” You whimpered, mouth cupping your mouth as you sobbed.
“Thank Mahal,” Kili whispered, his own eyes becoming glassy as he gave his thanks to Ori before rushing to your side.
Oin stepped to the side just in time as Kili gathered you in his arms, face burying in your neck as you did the same, clinging onto each other as if death would attempt to take you a second time.
“You’re alive,” Kili echoed your earlier words, sobbing into your neck as he held your frame flush against his.
“You’re alive.” He repeated, form trembling as he held in his sobs to give you a once-over.
“I’m alive,” You grinned despite your tears as he cupped your cheeks and pulled you into a passionate kiss.

Relationships: Kíli x female reader (or Kíli x Tauriel)
Summary: You take Tauriel’s place in Middle-Earth a long time before Erebor’s quest. Will you be able to save the Durins or will they suffer the same fate?
On AO3
Tumblr media
A winter day, you woke up in a dark, cold forest. A dense forest you never saw. You were lost and hungry. If a group of elves didn’t find you, you would surely die. Yes, a group of five woodland elves in the flesh. Their language was incomprehensible to you, but as they saved your life and seemed to ask to follow them, you followed them without complaining.
While you followed them, you tried to figure out where you were. Everything seemed so vegetable, green, but dark and cold. And there were elves everywhere. It was only when you arrived at a kind of palace that you noticed a beautiful, young, blond elf among the group who saved you.
They brought you in front of a tall, regal, blond elf. You had some suppositions about the place but it was only when King Thranduil introduced himself in front of you that you believed it. Well, you understood nothing but his name because he talked in elvish, you guessed.
So, you were in Middle-Earth. In Mirkwood. In front of the king Thranduil. And he was very handsome, but that is not the first thing you should think!
If we came back to the situation, the young, blond elf who saved you earlier was then Legolas, and he walked to his father, certainly to explain to him they found you lost in the middle of the forest.
They talked for a while before turning toward you. During their discussion, you remained quiet. Who would want to intervene in a discussion between Thranduil and Legolas?
Oh, and of course, their discussion was in an elven language! So when Thranduil talked to you directly you didn’t know what to say.
“It seems she doesn't understand a word of Silvan Elvish or Sindarin. Do you understand westron?” Thranduil asked in westron from his throne, looking at you.
“It seems I do, Your Majesty,” you tried with the most polite voice you had.
“At least, she is polite, and knows westron. I think, since Legolas asked for it, we can find you a place here, if you wish to stay,” he said as he was looking at you seriously.
You took your time to think about it, but in reality, you had no choice but to accept his proposal. Where could you go? Mirkwood wasn't that bad, right?
“Do you want to leave?” he asked, visibly losing his patience.
“No! I want to stay, Your Majesty! Hm, please,” you quickly replied as you could see Legolas lightly smile.
“Alright. What is your name?” Thranduil asked as he descended from his throne to come closer to you.
Your name? Oh, your name from the 21st century? It would be strange here.
“Don’t you have a name?” he asked, now in front of you, with his eyes higher than yours.
As you were remaining quiet with your head down, he sighed before resuming.
“Alright, we will give you a name then,” he said as he seemed to think. “Tauriel. It suits you. Now, follow my son, he will show you your new room.”
You stupidly stayed still for a while as he was returning to his throne.
Tauriel? Really? Was it a joke? Why did he give that name? Wasn't there already a Tauriel in Mirkwood?
The prince walked toward you with a smile and you followed him. Despite the coolness of the place, his smile was warm. Surely because, as you observed it, there weren't many young elves. You replied to him with politeness and smiles.
.
Your room was quite big. A bed, a desk, a balcony with a view on a small waterfall, a bathroom corner. What more could you ask for?
Speaking of the bathroom corner, as you stepped closer to the bathtub, you noticed a tall mirror. At the first reflection, you jumped, believing someone else entered your room, but a few seconds later as you touched your face, you understood that the tall, red-haired female-elf reflected in the mirror was you.
There were no other Tauriel. You were the only one Tauriel of Mirkwood. You were in Tauriel’s place. But why were you Tauriel? Why couldn't you just be you? Why come to Middle-earth without being in your own body?
The good news was you were beautiful and an elf. Oh! And your life will be long!
Before Legolas left you alone, you could only ask him what year you were in. To your surprise, you had arrived a few years after Smaug’s attack. So, Dale was destroyed, and Erebor’s dwarfs were no longer in the region.
As you sat on your new comfortable bed, you thought about the future event in Middle-Earth. Do you have the right to intervene? Was that why you were sent? If you are Tauriel, surely there would be a connection with the Durins’ quest, right?
You will surely meet Thorin’s company some day in the forest or in the dungeons. If we were based on the movie, then yes. And Kíli will die because of you. Well, because of Blog and the orcs, but you will also have your part to play in it…
First of all, as you looked at your reflection in the mirror, you had to accept your new body. Size, colours, pointed ears! So many changes!
Maybe a bath would be a good start, especially with all the leaves and mud you had in your hair…
Sindarin, Silvan Elvish, bows, swords, daggers, knives, agility, patience, endurance, elven mores,... Anything you could learn, you tried to learn. All the years you spent in Mirkwood since you had arrived, you spent it to learn.
Your objectives were simple: Save the Durin’s line, then visit Middle-earth. So, not making the same mistake as Tauriel. That was why you trained for years and promised yourself to prevent Kíli from falling in love with Tauriel, well, with you. In addition to the training, you stayed in your room almost all the time to read books. Sometimes, you went out to explore the forest alone, or when Legolas asked to accompany him. Who could refuse something to a cute prince like him? Well, you couldn’t. Oh, but you also tried to keep your distance with him. Dealing with the dwarfs will be enough!
.
Years passed since you arrived in Mirkwood, and even though you had tried to remain in the shadow, do your job as a guard and perfect your skills, King Thranduil ended up promoting you “Captain of the guard”. His decision was hard to believe as you didn't act like the real Tauriel. Although you were polite and pragmatic, you were far from having her skills and personality. Your tendency to do as you please had already got you into trouble, more than once. You still found it amazing that he had forgiven you for climbing one of the biggest waterfalls in the palace just to see over the trees, which of course was prohibited.
Also, it was true you had trouble integrating with Mirkwood’s elves but you didn’t care. As long as you survived, you didn’t need elves friends, especially if you were already friends with the Prince.
.
As you saw The Hobbit’s movies, you knew when the company would come, so you prepared for the meeting. Your skills were enough, but the thing you wanted to prevent was Kíli falling in love with you. There will be enough to do on the future battlefield than to have to deal with a guy in love.
So you decided to change your appearance. Cutting your long, beautiful hair was a tough decision but you hoped it would be worth it. The good thing was that it won't bother you now that it was over your shoulders.
An autumn day when you were watching the forest with Legolas and your team, you finally met Thorin’s company. Everything happened exactly as in the film and they soon ended up in the dungeons.
Once they were locked in the dungeons, you avoided walking in front of them, but as you were the Captain of the Guard, you had to do it sometimes. So, you always waited until they were sleeping to do your job.
However, one night when you walked silently in front of Kíli‘s cell, a stone hit your foot. “Are you kidding me?” you sighed as you recognised Kíli’s rune.
“Hey, can you give it back to me?” he asked from his cell, looking up at you with a smile.
You sighed again as you hesitated to ignore him and continued your way, but his eyes… His puppy-eyes should be forbidden!
You didn’t want to touch it, so you shot it with your feet and it ended right in his cell.
“Wow, good shot!” he exclaimed as he picked up his rune.
You were about to leave when he talked to you again.
“It’s the first time I saw an elf with short hair. Why is your hair so short?” he asked, looking at you with very interested eyes.
“It's more convenient for fighting. Now, stop talking,” you replied as you tried to leave again.
“What is your name?” he resumed as you never asked him to be quiet.
“You don’t–”
“Tauriel?” you heard from afar, recognising Legolas’ voice.
“I’m here. I'll join you,” you replied as you left the dungeons, avoiding the victorious smile of Kíli in his cell.
.
When they escaped, you helped Legolas to kill as many orcs as you could. Your focus was only on the orcs until Kíli got out from his barrel. Even though you yelled at him not to open the gate, he obviously didn't listen to you and took an arrow in the leg.
Everything followed the film too much to your liking…
Then, you had no choice but to go in Laketown to heal him. Since there was no tension between you and Legolas, he stayed with you in Bard's house until the dragon’s attack. One thing changed at least! He also helped you to escape the town with everyone, and you were very glad he was there when you saw Kíli’s sparkled eyes open when you saved him.
Anyway, once everyone had reached the shore alive, you decided to leave with Legolas to return to Mirkwood. You will need to prepare yourself with the battle coming up. No need to take Legolas to Gundabad as Thranduil will not listen to you.
You were chatting with Legolas when a small hand took yours. The little Tilda smiled at you.
“Thank you for saving us,” she said as her sister joined her to say the same thing.
“Anyone would have done the same thing,” you replied with a smile as you stroked Tilda’s head. “Join your father, I’m sure he misses you already.”
They nodded and left almost immediately. Once your eyes turned back to Legolas, his smile became teasing.
“I didn’t know you liked children,” he said as you both started to walk in Mirkwood’s direction. “I think I never saw you with a child.”
“Maybe because there are almost no children in Mirkwood. And I already have to babysit you so…”
Your joke was cut short by someone calling you away. Without turning to the voice, you knew it was Kíli’s. The further you went with Legolas, the more Kíli called you. After a quick "I'll be back" to your friend, you changed direction to join Kíli and his brother.
“What do you want?” you asked them, a little too harshly. “Do you want to go back to your cells?”
“No!” Kíli hurried to say. “Just, thank you for saving me. For helping us to escape the town.”
“Anyone would have done the same thing,” you said as you did for Tilda. “Now, I have a lot to do. Don't get hit by another orc arrow. I won't always be there to save you.”
You left before he had time to grab your hand.
You saw it. Kíli saw it, and his brother saw it. It was awkward, so you quickly joined Legolas and went back to Mirkwood.
.
Had he already fallen in love with Tauriel when you had done everything to prevent it? You even cut your beautiful, long hair for that!!!
Alright, stay calm. The battle was in a few days, and you weren’t ready yet. Even with all your training, you weren’t sure if you could take part in a battle like this, but did you have a choice?
When the battle’s day came, you were on the elf’s side, under Thranduil’s orders until the orcs’ arrival. After that, you explained to the King that you wanted to go to the top of Ravenhill to stop their signal flags. He quickly nodded before going back to the battle.
Fortunately, Legolas trusted you enough to follow you without question.
At the top of Ravenhill, you yelled Azog’s name, telling him you knew he was hiding. While Legolas looked at you like the strangest person in the world, the orc’s leader finally got out of the top of the tower.
“You elf, how did you know I was here?” Azog yelled with a particular angry face. “You don't interest me! You're not the one I'm waiting for!”
At the end of his sentence, a group of orcs started to attack you and Legolas. You were ready for it, but there were many of them. Maybe going there, only you and Legolas, wasn’t a good idea. In wanting to save the Durins at all costs, you didn't think that you could put Legolas in danger.
When the dwarfs joined you, you were almost happy to see them. Almost. Until Thorin threatened you with a sword.
“What are you both doing here?” he shouted, without noticing Azog still in the tower.
You were about to reply when Legolas stood between you and Thorin's sword. His behaviour surprised but not Thorin.
“You are blinded by anger. You are mistaken about your enemies,” he said with an impressively calm tone.
“He’s right,” Azog intervened with a smile at the top of the tower. “You true enemies will kill your two heirs first, then they will end with you.”
When he finished talking, many orcs attacked you, Legolas, and the dwarfs. Once you all got rid of them, you spoke up with all the self-confidence that Tauriel would have.
“You all, listen to me. Fíli and Kíli, go with Legolas to kill Bolg. Dwalin, never part from Thorin, and go to Azog. I’m going to clean the tower and destroy the flags. And Bilbo, where is he?” you said as you turned around to find him. “Bilbo, stay hidden, stay safe.”
They stayed silent for a while. Even you were surprised by yourself.
Whether they decide to listen to you or not, you already know where to start. After nodding to Legolas, you entered the tower.
Hoping they followed your advices - or orders, you started to climb the stairs when you felt a hand grab your arm. If you had not recognised the heavy footsteps of a dwarf, you would have cut his throat immediately, but Kíli called to you in such a pleading tone that you stopped your steps and turned towards him.
“Stay with your brother. It’s safer this way,” you said as you tried to free your arm.
“It’s not safe for you. I want to stay with you. You–”
“No! You will die if you stay with me!” you shouted as you finally took your arm back, stepping away from him. “Stay with you brother.”
Without waiting for an answer, you resumed your way until Kíli grabbed you once again.
“I don’t have time for that! Go with your brother!”
“I won’t leave you!” he shouted, gritting his teeth as he tried to stay calm.
“Alright!” you gave up. “You know what? Do what you want! Don’t cry if your brother dies alone!”
Your words were horrible, and you regretted saying it immediately, but you resumed your way in the tower as if you didn’t care.
The orcs didn’t wait to attack you and Kíli. In this kind of small corridor, it was hard to fight. Even harder with a dwarf being underfoot!
The way to the top was longer and harder than expected. You won’t admit it, but you were glad Kíli had been with you. At the top of the tower now empty and the flags destroyed, you sat on an iced rock, catching your breath.
“What do we do now?” he said, also breathless and tired.
“I don’t know. I didn’t plan to babysitter you!” you said, still angry he followed you.
“Hey, I just want to help you! Don’t be so angry with me!” he shouted as he came closer to you.
He was right. You shouldn’t be angry with him. Not everything had gone as planned, but for the moment he was still alive. Let's hope that the others will be too…
“Let’s join your uncle. He will need help against Azog,” you sighed as you stood up and went down the stairs.
Despite knowing the time was the key at a time like this, you were tired. On the way, many orcs attacked you and Kíli, so by the time you reached Thorin and Dwalin, Fíli and Legolas were already with them. From far away, you saw Azog just fell on the iced lake, his head flying far away from his body.
Your feet stopped at the view of the dead leader and the dwarfs alive.
You did it. They were alive.
Legolas ran to join you. A big smile appeared on your face as you raised both your hands in the air. With all the years spent together, he was used to your behaviour and he couldn’t help but smile as he raised his hands to clap them against yours.
“We did it! We’re all alive! Everyone is alive!” you shouted of joy, startling Kíli next to you. “Thank you for trusting me and following me here!”
Legolas looked around him, making sure there were no more orcs left. When you ended up turning to Kíli, you noticed he was looking at you, while you thought he would join his kin.
“You should join your family. I’m sure your brother is very worried about you,” you smiled, glancing at Fíli who didn’t dare to approach you.
“He’s fine. I’m sure he can wait a little longer,” he laughed. “I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh, right. Hm, I’m sorry for my words and my anger towards you, but I need to leave now–”
The presence of Thranduil arriving on the iced lake made you quiet. After nodding to you, Legolas ran to his father while you looked at your King. You couldn't keep the king waiting, so you quickly talked to Kíli.
“I’m sorry. What was I saying? Oh right, I’m truly sorry for my words, and I need to go. Thanks for helping me in the tower. And I should stop talking now.”
At the first step you made to leave him, he grabbed your hand, like he already did too many times since he had escaped from his cell.
“Wait! Are you alright? Are you hurt?”
Oh, you didn’t even think of it. You had some cuts and bruises but nothing serious. Maybe your wrists and your feet were exhausted, but nothing that a rest could not cure.
“No, I’m fine. I’m an elf, remember?” you said, shrugging with a laugh.
Even though you tried to make him understand he should let you go, his hand squeezed yours.
Oh no. Despite his face being so muddy, his messy hair, and his war’s smell, he looked so cute. His puppy-eyes prevented you from trying to take your hand back.
“Amrâlimê, let me–” [My love]
“Oh no!” you suddenly panicked, taking back your hand harshly. “No, no, no! No amrâlimê!”
“Y-you know what it means?” he said, unable to hide his surprise.
“Er, no. Of course not. I’m not a dwarf,” you lied as you stepped away from him. “Hm, I need to join Legolas and the King right now. You should join your family!”
Your panic was laughable. You almost stumbled on the iced lake as you fled to join Mirkwood King. Why? Because your heart was beating so fast that you couldn’t hear Kíli call you. Because your cheeks were so red that they could melt the whole lake if you fell on it. Because with all the trouble you went through to prevent him from falling in love with you, it would seem that you failed. Plus, it would seem that you had also fallen in love with him.
Alright. First of all, you had to go back to Mirkwood with the King and the Prince. Everything about Kíli would come later.
..
Well. “Later” progressively almost changed in never when you decided to do what you planned after saving the Durins: travelling in Middle-Earth.
However, Thranduil didn't agree to let you leave Mirkwood at first. It took him two months to accept your departure, since you promised him to take your job back when you return. You didn't agree on a return date, but the fact he knew you would return was enough to satisfy him.
Legolas didn’t agree as well. He wanted to come with you. His father only agreed to let him follow you to Rivendell. He gave him a mission there, and it was enough to make Legolas happy.
But, because there was always a “but” with the King Thranduil, he asked you to wait for a concord between Erebor’s dwarfs, Dale’s Men and Mirkwood’s elves, since the lands were still not safe to travel alone.
So, you couldn’t leave for months. You escorted the King several times to Dale and Erebor with your best team.
And avoiding Kíli was easier than you thought. He always seemed busy and you knew how to hide yourself.
Until one night. A night of celebration following an agreement between Elves and Dwarfs. This was already a big step forward, so the dwarfs organised a big party, and Thranduil gave the night off to every elf who escorted him. So you.
The agreement wasn’t a surprise. Your team was aware of this event so you were dressed for the occasion. A long dress in your favourite colour, as simple as possible.
You lost your habit to wear dresses since you were in Middle-Earth, so you were a little uncomfortable with it. Why would a captain of the guard wear a dress anyway? Plus, you weren’t comfortable in this kind of event. Usually, Legolas used to get you out of your boredom, but he didn't come this time.
The only thing you enjoyed in this kind of event was the wine, and tonight there was a lot of wine since the dwarfs preferred ale.
After taking a new bottle and a glass, you left the party and went to a quieter place. A place high enough for you to watch the crowd without being noticed.
You sat on the floor, your back against a pillar and your legs in the void. Erebor’s rooms were always very tall but this one seemed to be on three or four levels. On each level, there were corridors, but you didn't want to adventure yourself in and got lost. So your little quiet corner was perfect for the night.
From where you were, you could see some dwarfs from Thorin’s company dancing in a way too acrobatic for them. Thorin was surrounded by old dwarfs while Thranduil was with some elves from your team, chatting over a drink.
The party was fun to watch. It was a shame Legolas wasn’t here to speak of this. Since his father agreed to let him go to Rivendell, he had given him new teachers who occupied all his time.
At some point, you heard steps coming closer to you. The more Kíli was walking towards you, the more your blood was warming up. It was too late to avoid him now, so you took advantage of the seconds you had left before he sat next to you to calm down.
“I was looking for you all night,” he said once he sat next to you, his legs almost touching you. “Wow, the view of the party is amazing from here!”
His look turned to the crowd below. His smile was as radiant as the light of the torches of the place. His traditional Erebor prince outfit fitted him very well. He looked so different from the dwarf you locked in Mirkwood. You were almost intimidated by him. Almost because you were Tauriel, right? The tall, strong Captain of the Mirkwood guard. Well, not for long, but you were at the time.
To hide your embarrassment, you sipped your drink quietly until you realised it was empty. When you searched the wine bottle, you remembered you had already finished it. Yet, with Kíli near you, you would really need wine.
“I take a bottle with me,” Kíli said as he turned toward you, showing you a wine bottle.
You couldn’t hide your smile, and it surely looked too silly, so you stopped smiling and thanked him.
“Your timing is perfect!” you said as you took the bottle already open from his hand. “Thanks for bringing it here. Do you want some?”
“No, I took my ale with me,” he winked.
Now your glass was full, your attention turned to the crowd below. After a long silent moment, you laughed.
“What makes you laugh?” Kíli asked, focused on the crowd.
“Do you see the red-haired dwarf with an ale who just fell? He spilled all his ale on an elf behind him. I can tell you from here that she's ready to grab him by the foot and hang him,” you laughed, barely breathing.
“Which one?”
“On the left, at the back of the room.”
“Where?”
“Come on, right next to the pillar.”
“Hey, I don’t have elves’ eyes!” he replied, a little irritated. “Oh I see him! It’s Gloda. He was already drunk before the party started.”
“What?” you tried to say while your laugh resumed. “Poor Annien! Her dress is ruined. On top of that, I think it was her boyfriend who gave it to her. I hope ale doesn't stain.”
Your laugh ended up calming down as Kíli continued to look at the crowd, drinking his ale in a big mug. He didn’t tell you why he came to you yet, but you didn't want to give him time to tell you, so you quickly spoke up again.
“It’s a shame you don’t have elf eyes. With Legolas, we often play to find someone in a party crowd according to a short description. It usually keeps us busy for a long time!”
“We can play anyway! I have good eyes for a dwarf,” he said with far too much enthusiasm that surprised you. “I start! I see a dwarrowdam hanging on the arms of a dwarf who doesn't seem to appreciate her gesture.”
“Let me find her!”
The game went on for so long that eventually there were too few people in the room to play. The second wine bottle was empty for a long time now, but Kíli helped you to finish it.
Even though you had avoided him since the battle - or since you met him, you wanted the night to never end. You spent a very fun night, funnier than you had ever spent with Legolas but you will never say it to both of them.
You really needed to go away from this region. Your feelings for him grew stronger every time you saw him, and now, in addition to seeing him, you spent the whole evening having fun with him.
“Thanks for this fun night, but I should go,” you said as you stood up with the pillar’s help. “We’ll leave earlier tomorrow.”
Either your legs were numb from sitting for hours, or you had drunk more than you thought. Either way, your legs shook a little before they gave way. Fortunately, Kíli stood up at the same time as you and he had the time to catch you up.
With your back against the pillar and Kíli’s help, you could finally stand up. The situation was so silly that you couldn’t help but smile.
“Why are you smiling like that? You could fall! And elf or not, I don't think you would have survived! Have you seen how high we are?”
Despite his irritation, you continued to smile like an idiot.
“You’re so short. It’s so cute!” you laughed, never having been so close to him standing face to face.
The wine talked in your place while Kíli frowned. It was only when his hands squeezed your hips that you noticed them. They were holding you firmly. Maybe you would fall if he wasn’t holding you.
Then, you realised your closeness. Although he was a head shorter than you, he would only have to stand on his tiptoes to access your lips. Those so tempting lips…
What? Did you want to taste them? Of course not. You still were a curse to him. Even though he had survived the Battle of the Five Armies, there was no proof that he wouldn’t die in another way because of you.
Your smile faded as you patted his head. Oh his hair was so soft…
“I’m really glad you’re alive,” you let escape while it was absolutely not what you wanted to say. “Well, hm, I need to go.”
“It’s thanks to you,” he said as he was still holding you with more strength than you thought, looking at you with puppy-eyes. “I still don’t know why you helped us in Ravenhill, but I’m sure we’re alive thanks to you!”
His eyes were staring at you. Your elf eyes were good to see far, but not in the darkness. Here, you were sure Kíli’s eyes were better than yours, and he certainly noticed your burning cheeks.
Looking to the right, then on the left won’t help you. Trapped between the pillar and Kíli’s hands, you had no choice but to look at him, yet his eyes became imploring, as much as his voice.
“Why are you always avoiding me? Since the beginning. I’m not stupid, I noticed how cold but strangely familiar you look at me from our first meeting. I thought something changed when you saved me in Laketown, but… Did I do something wrong?”
His voice froze your blood. He seemed so lost while you couldn’t explain anything to him. You just wanted him to be alive, even if you had to live far away from him. Was it too much to ask?
“If it’s because of, hm,” he hesitated to continue but resumed anyway. “Amrâlimê, I–”
“Stop!” you shouted as your hand unintentionally covered his mouth. “I'm not your amrâlimê.”
You tried to use a cold tone, but it didn’t work. Your throat was so dry…
“Listen, I’m not who you think I am. We met few times, and your image of me is an illusion. I'm not your amrâlimê.”
You progressively removed your hand from his mouth, waiting for a reaction from him. His reaction was immediate.
“My love for you is not an illusion!” he clearly said as one of his hands came to your cheek.
You always hoped he never told you something like this, since you had understood where and who you were. He couldn’t realise you were so tortured inside, but it hurt. You hated this situation so much that you started to feel little tears in the corner of your eyes.
“I–I’m so sorry!” he hurried to say as he wiped the corner of your eyes. “I didn’t want to make you cry!”
“I’m not crying,” you said as you removed his hand from your face.
“You… Mahal, you’re impossible. You know that, don’t you?”
He approached his face so close that you could see each cut on his face he surely earned during the journey. On his tiptoes, he seemed about to say something but he held back, getting back on his flat feet. Your breathing resumed while you didn't even know it had stopped.
“At least from tonight, I know you don’t hate me, otherwise you wouldn’t stay the night with me…” he sighed as he removed his hands from you as slow as possible, as if you would disappear instantly if he moved too fast. “Before you leave, let me at least tell you what I wanted for months.”
As your heart skipped a beat at the word ‘months’, you tried to keep your fake indifference and didn’t stop him.
“First, I wanted to thank you for saving me in Laketown. I never had time to do that,” he started slowly. “Then, I don’t know how you managed to arrive at Ravenhill before us, but you were a great help there, even if you didn’t want me with you. Then, well, I felt something for you since we met in Mirkwood forest. I wasn’t sure about my feelings for you until Ravenhill, but now Tauriel, I know it’s not an illusion. I truly love you.”
The few people still below in the room made your silence all the heavier. Kíli remained motionless, looking at you as he was desperate for an answer.
How would Tauriel reply to him? The movies’ story won’t help you here. It was now your life and your decisions, despite you being in Tauriel’s place.
You tried to say some words but they stayed in your throat. Why was it so difficult? Couldn't you just tell him that you loved him too and live happily ever after?
Life was always not simple, and you had to answer him. Now.
“What answer do you want from me? Spending the night here with you doesn't mean I love you. Kíli, we can be friends if you want, but nothing more. It’s true I spent a very good night with you, but–”
“I don’t know how, but I know you’re lying,” he said with a surprising self-confidence.
“W-what?”
“Your eyes are the only ones who don’t lie to me.”
He seemed to use the same way to win your heart that he used to win Tauriel’s heart in the movie. He didn’t want to give up, but you won’t give in. With a serious behaviour, you walked away from him and the pillar.
“I had to go. I wish you a good end of night, Prince Kíli.”
After your cold words, you bowed a little in front of Erebor’s prince and left in the direction of your bedroom without searching for his eyes or his reactions. The sooner you would get to your room, the sooner you could go to bed and leave this night behind you.
Your departure was coming soon. In a little over a month. As planned, you had waited for an agreement to be made between Dwarfs, Men, and Elves. Legolas will stay with you until you arrive in Rivendell, and you will be alone afterwards. It was exciting and scary at the same time, but you were sure you will love it!
One early summer evening, you followed Legolas as he had asked you in the morning. It was your day off and he wanted to spend the evening with you in your secret place. A nice place at the highest point in Mirkwood, at the top of a large waterfall.
You had gladly accepted since you didn’t leave your room for two days because some Erebor dwarfs came to Eleven kingdom to finalise a new treaty, and of course Kíli came with them.
But you didn’t want to think of it. Let’s enjoy the evening with your friend in such a good place. He even brought food and wine!
“You’re a perfect friend,” you said as you sipped your wine. “What will happen to me when I'm alone?”
“I hope you will visit me in Rivendell,” he smiled, looking at the landscape.
“Of course I will!”
After a short silent moment, Legolas finished his wine and put his glass on the ground.
“You’re still avoiding the prince dwarf.”
It wasn’t a question, and the surprise made you spit your wine. Legolas frowned in disgust, then sighed.
“What are you talking about?” you pretended not to understand.
“No need to lie to me. You locked yourself in your room for three days. Just when the Dwarfs arrived.”
“Those were my days off. I wanted to read a book. That’s all,” you shrugged.
“Before they arrived, you were running everywhere to prepare your departure. Why are you avoiding him?” he insisted, no longer smiling.
“Why are you so interested? I just… I don’t want him to fall in love with me,” you admitted with a pouting face.
“It’s too late for that, Mellon nîn,” he laughed. [My friend]
“I know,” you replied, still pouting.
“So why are you avoiding him?” he asked once he calmed down.
You put the food and glass you had in hand before answering him. Maybe you could talk about it to your friend. You knew each other for decades; he was even one of those who saved you in the forest when you arrived.
“Because he will die if he falls in love with me.”
“What?”
“I can’t explain everything to you without sounding crazy, but I’m a curse for him. He and his family should die on Ravenhill. We saved them, but I’m still a curse for him.”
Legolas remained a moment silent, thinking of what you said.
“Excuse me if I’ll be rude, but for me, this curse thing seems an excuse to avoid him because you fell in love with him and you’re afraid to lose him.”
You remained silent at your turn before laughing.
“You’re right. I’m just a coward.”
“That’s not what I said, Tauriel,” he frowned.
“I’m in love with a dwarf but I prefer travelling in Middle-Earth to accepting my feelings and my fears. I’m a coward,” you said as you finished your wine in one go.
“Is this true?” a voice of a man said behind a tree before walking toward you.
In a few seconds, Kíli was in front of you. You stood up instantly while your eyes were going from Legolas to Kíli countless times. You knew he was in Mirkwood but you never thought he could find you here.
“Why is he here?” you said as you turned to Legolas, angry and disappointed. “You’re the one person who knows this place. Is that your idea? You know what, I prefer not to know.”
“Tauriel, wait!” Legolas said while you were about to leave. “I’m sorry, I only want to help.”
“I didn’t ask for that,” you coldly said, crossing your arms on your chest.
“I asked for that,” Kíli intervened, placing himself between you and Legolas.
When your eyes finally confronted Kíli’s, your anger calmed down. Just a little because you were still angry with your friend.
You preferred to remain quiet. What could you say to him after what you had just said to Legolas?
In truth, no one dared to speak. Only the forest’s sounds and the waterfall echoed for a long time.
Kíli was the first to say something, but at the same time, he walked toward you. Instinctively, you stepped back. Yet, even though you were in Tauriel’s place, you kept your clumsiness, and behind you was the waterfall.
In a few seconds, you lost your balance and fell in the waterfall. Kíli and Legolas only could shout your name.
The waterfall was very high but the lake at the bottom was deep, so there was little chance of you getting hurt. When your head came out of the water, you couldn’t help but hit the water. How could you be that clumsy, seriously? Were you an elf or not?
When you heard your name with Kíli’s voice close to you in panic, you realised he jumped in the waterfall too. You swam to him and you both got out of the water. Your clothes were soaked, your hair was a mess, but you were glad it was summer. It was warm enough not to catch a cold.
Kíli ran to you as you sat on the green grass.
“Are you alright? Are you hurt? Hey, talk to me! Are you alive?”
You burst out laughing before his panicked attitude. It was very rude, but you couldn’t stop yourself. Plus, he looked fine as well.
“I swam to you and walked here. Of course I’m alive,” you laughed. “Calm down, I’m alright. What an idea to jump off the waterfall. You’re the one who could have been hurt. Are you alright?”
“Yes, I’m fine,” he grumbled, calming down gradually.
Now your evening was ruined, you let yourself fall in the grass, lying down with eyes closed. Remaining quiet, you felt him sit next to you.
“I was just worried about you,” he grumbled.
“You should stop worrying about me. Believe me, you'll end up dying if you keep trying to save me.”
The tone of your voice wasn’t cold or angry anymore. You were tired of pushing him away. Staying silent until he gives up was a good solution, right?
“You’re impossible!” you heard with a laugh. “Open your eyes to see if you are lying.”
“No,” you simply replied with a childish attitude that you didn’t care.
Still eyes closed, you heard him moving and ended up feeling some cold water’s drop falling on you.
“Open your eyes,” he repeated in a too serious voice that intrigued you.
Well, not intriguing enough to open your eyes. However, when you felt something touching your right cheek, you jumped, forcing your eyes to stay close. You relaxed only when you realised it was his hand.
As long as he was just touching your face, it would have been fine, but when his hands got away and you felt his breathing next to your ear, your heart was about to explode in your chest.
“Open your eyes or I kiss you,” he murmured in your ear while his hand went on your hip.
Even though you fell in the water and you were still soaked, your body was burning. His voice was so enticing, so seductive.
Could you ignore him all your life? Of course, a part of you wanted him to kiss you right now, and even more, but your fears surpassed your desires.
“You wouldn't dare–”
Kíli didn't wait for you to finish your sentence. Your provocative attitude didn't work on him anymore. His lips were on yours, warm and strangely soft for a dwarf. Well, according to your idea of kissing a dwarf because you never did it.
As his hand squeezed your hip, you couldn't help but grab his wet jacket. It only took you a few seconds to reply to his kiss, but once you started it, he got away from you.
“It seems your eyes aren't the only one to be honest with me,” you heard him chuckle. “You're quite stubborn, you know.”
No need to repeat that your eyes were still closed, right?
As your heart started to calm down, you could think again. Should you keep ignoring him or should you run to your room? Or should you sit up and kiss him?
While you were thinking, Kíli could observe all your thinking faces. He chuckled before leaning again toward you.
“Are you stubborn or do you just want me to kiss you again?” he whispered in your same pointed ears now burning more than your body.
At his words, you opened your eyes, but his lips on yours made them closed again. This time, he asked to open your mouth by licking your lower lip, and you let him access to his request.
Hoping your tongue didn't taste wine too much, you deepened the kiss before Kíli did. His hand on your hip tensed in surprise as you put your hand on his short beard. It was itchy but you didn't care. You stroked it before continuing to his hair.
A light groan escaped from Kíli's lips as he removed himself for a few seconds to breathe, then resumed the kiss.
While his body flattened yours, his big hand would lower to your thigh if you didn't hear a voice calling your name from afar. Legolas's voice approached you gradually, calling you and the dwarf still on you.
When Legolas arrived in front of you, you were both standing up. Kíli was smiling, a victorious, ecstatic smile, as you were removing some grass on you.
“Are you both alright? I'm calling you for a while,” Legolas said as he approached you, looking worried.
Oh, right. You almost forgot that you fell from a waterfall a few minutes ago.
“I'm fine. Just very clumsy,” you sighed as you looked at the top of the waterfall.
“Do you really want to travel alone in Middle-earth alone? No orcs could kill you but you could kill yourself without intending to,” Legolas said as he came closer to you.
Legolas was always worried about you. Sometimes he looked more like a mother than a friend to you, so you couldn't help but smile warmly until you felt a warm hand take yours.
“She won't be alone,” Kíli said as he pulled a little on your hand. “I'm going with her.”
“You what?” you shouted louder than expected, turning towards him. “It's out of the question that you come with me.”
“That again?” he said, frowning. “If you're a curse to me, I'll find a way to ward off the spell. Now I know you love me too, I won't leave you!”
His eyebrows progressively relaxed and he smiled with his usual cute smile.
You couldn't help but hide your face with your free hand. How could he say such embarrassing words so easily? How could you say no to such puppy-eyes?
All your years of resolution were lost. Completely lost in front of his eyes and his so tempting lips that you were surely he licked specially to convince you. And of course, it worked.
You sighed as you turned to talk to Legolas, but he wasn't here, already left to leave you both alone.
“You can follow me at one condition,” you said as you squeezed his hand in embarrassment. “When we're alone, call me Y/N. Not Tauriel.”
Remaining motionless, Kíli smiled at you. On his tiptoes, he kissed you lightly before speaking.
“Anything you want, amrâlimê. Or should I say Y/N.”
It was the first time someone called you by your old name. Your heart wasn't ready for that, but you replied to him with a smile. Maybe small changes like this will break the curse, right?
Tumblr media
I had the idea of a reader taking Tauriel's place for a long time but it was more complicated to finish it than expected. I hope you liked it! :)

Empty promises
Kili Durin x afab!reader
Warnings: heavy angst, established relationship, mention of character death, pre BOTFA
Summary: With the battle closing in and Thorin fighting the dragon sickness, you seek comfort in your one.
—————
The past few days have been rough to say the least. You had successfully made it to Erebor, and it has been reclaimed by Thorin the only problem was that he had fallen into the same sickness that his grandfather had. The dragon sickness from the gold that was claimed by Smaug after the fall of Erebor all those years ago.
The Orcs were near, you had a feeling. Thankfully though, Kili had lived through getting a poisoned arrow in his thigh and he was now in Erebor with his brother and the others that had been comforting him through the incident. Now here you were, wandering the halls of Erebor in search for your one.
You had never known a castle to be so confusing until now, but luckily you had spotted your brown haired boy sitting along the gigantic hole in the wall, gazing out at the lost city of Dale. You walked up behind him, before gently taking a seat beside him and like clockwork, his hand found yours.
“How are you feeling my love?” You asked him, being his knuckles up to your lips as you kissed his hand softly before allowing it to fall into your lap, still grasping onto your own. Kili sighed as he moved closer to you, his head finding your shoulder as your head rested on his. “As well as I can,” he said in a soft tone, his gaze not wavering from the empty city infront of Erebor that used to be so full of life and love.
The two of you sat like that in comfortable silence for a while, the only sound reaching your ears was his gentle breathing and the sound of the crickets singing in the tall grass outside. As you gazed out into the landscape, you couldn’t help but let a feeling of pure fear wash over you. Soon you would all be fighting for you life against Azog and his troops for middle earth.
“Amrâlimê?” Kili said in a soft whisper, making you glance at him as he lifted his head off of your shoulder to meet your gaze. “Yes love?” You asked back, your free hand grasping his other one has your thumbs rubbed over his knuckles. His eyes fell to your hands before he lifted then back up to look at you. “Are you afraid to die?” He asked you, catching you off guard completely. You looked at him like he had grown two heads, he had just been on the brink of death with the arrow and he was asking you if you were afraid to die?
“Well…” you said as you looked back out into the now peaceful landscape that you knew would be filled with blood and death soon. Sighing softly you looked back at your lover, a sad expression covering your face. “I am,” you said after a moment, before you brought both of his hands to your lips this time, kissing his knuckles once more. “But, I’m more afraid of losing you to the hands of the Orcs.” You said as you dropped his hands back into your lap as his eyes scanned your face.
“Oh Amrâlimê,” he sighed with a soft smile as he saw the faint tears building in the backs of your eyes. He reached out, bringing you into his chest as his hand ran along your hair gently. You arms wrapped around his neck as you nuzzled your face into his shoulder, the tears fall from your eyes staining his shirt temporarily. “I will never leave you, not in death nor in glory,” Kili whispered to you softly. “I would rather spend a thousand lifetimes fighting for you than allowing myself to be taken away for you in such a way.” He finished, tears of his own spilling down his cheeks as he pulled away from the hug to rest his forehead against your own.
“Promise?” You croaked out, your eyes meeting his brown orbs as you watched the corners of the crinkle softly as he couldn’t help but allow a small smile to overtake his features. “I promise, in this lifetime and the next.” He said, before he leaned in, placing a gentle kiss to your lips. If only he knew in the end, that the promise he made would have to wait until the next time you two meet again, until the next life when your souls will bound together as one again.

P! Tauriel x GN! Human Reader
“Grief together”
Warning: small angst, kili’s death
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y/n noticed Tauriel sitting alone on the ruined steps of the city, tears streaming down her face. Y/n walked over to her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry," Y/n said softly.
Tauriel looked up at them, her eyes red and puffy. "He was everything to me," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Y/n sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around her. "I know how hard it is to lose someone you love," they said, her voice gentle. "But remember, he died fighting for a noble cause. He died protecting his friends and his people."
Tauriel nodded, wiping away her tears. "I just wish he didn't have to die. It hurts so much," she said, chocking on her sobs
"I know," Y/n said, squeezing her shoulder. "But know that he will always be remembered and honored for his bravery and sacrifice."
Tauriel leaned her head against Y/n's shoulder, grateful for the comfort. They sat in silence for a while, watching as the sun began to set over Erebor. Despite the loss and the pain, they found solace in each other's company.

Bucky was reclined in the barely lit room, your heart monitor the only sound in the room, reminding him that you were alive and okay with every beep that went off. It was one of the two best sounds in the world to him right now. The other one quietly met his ears as he looked down to see his little girl, his princess, sleeping against his chest.
He couldn't believe his daughter was finally here. It had been a chaotic night in order to meet her, but she was here and he could hold her. Bucky couldn't wait to tell you about all that had happened in the hour she'd been resting against him, share in the joy that was her existence, tell you that he got it. He finally understood why you were so excited about that "new baby" smell.
With one hand holding her firmly against him and his metal hand holding yours, Bucky lowered his head to enjoy another whiff of that smell. "I'm so happy you're here and safe, princess," he whispered to his daughter. "I'm so happy you both are. I don't know how I'd survive in a world without you or your mama. I'm pretty sure my heart stopped when your mama told me you were on your way."
He'd been so excited and terrified when you'd texted him. Bucky had been stuck in a debrief when he'd gotten it and launched himself out of his seat, knocking it over in the process.
"And just where the hell do you think you're going, Barnes?" Fury asked, incredulously.
"My wife needs me," he called back, not stopping in his stride for the door.
"Your wife can wait, you're being sent on a mission. Do not walk out that door."
"I'm not going on the mission. I'm not missing my daughter's birth. Find someone else." Turning out of the conference room, he made a pit stop before bolting for his motorcycle. Walking into the lounge, he beelined it for just the couple he was looking for. "Steve, Nat," he barked out, "let's go. The baby's coming."
The pair jumped up from the couch and followed Bucky out. He knew you'd want them there. Despite Steve and Natasha being together, Steve was Bucky's brother from another mother and Nat was your ride or die. You both had already been referring to them and aunt and uncle to your daughter. Of course, they had to be there for support.

WAS SHE DEAD? it was the only thought that consumed the youngest durins mind, chestnut hues glancing at the ― was she a hobbit? furrowing his brows, his eyes roamed off the rather small looking being, certainly looked like a hobbit although the only experience he had with hobbits was their burglar! his eyes snapped open as he saw the wound " oh no . " This was bad, this was very bad. eyes examined the surroundings, where was oin? where was everyone else? why did it have to be him to find her? where was fili? Fili would know what to do, he always did. Turning his sword around, he poked at the small being with the hilt of his words "Miss..." If a hobbit died on his watch Mr boggins would be most unimpressed, and the burglar was not one to be trifled with " A- can ye' wake up, miss? Im not particularly good in these situations and my uncle will not be impressed, or his burglar or oin o- Mahal help me. "
