One of my favourite things to think about is the rest of the batfam all having their own ‘Brucie Wayne’ personas. So here’s me listing how I imagine the main family members would front to the public.
Dick
I think would be very similar to Bruce with the same air-headed personality. As far as the internets concerned he can’t spell orange and pretends not to know any of the 50 states let alone which one he lives in. He also uses the fact that he never officially finished college to his advantage. As a kid he was more eccentric and people just knew him as that little kid whose constantly high of sugar and lollipops. Not much changes when becomes an adult.
Of course like father like son and he is also extremely charismatic. His persona is a little more goofy than Bruce’s and he’s known as the Wayne’s resident gymnast, at least in the air. He’s made a habit of acting as though any and all fine motor skills come to an absolute stop the moment he isn’t doing some complex flip, or cartwheel. There are serval videos on YouTube of him tripping over air, spilling drinks over his shirt, and stumbling into several guests, only half of these were faked. He also has a reputation of being an absolutely insane drunk. He went viral on twitter for doing a triple backflip in the middle of a gala which resulted in a shattered punch bowl, several traumatised guests and a fake news report claiming he’d died which sent the city into a riot for the next 24 hours all because he was a little bit tipsy.
Jason
Jason was pretty young when he ‘died’. Before hand he was the happy go lucky kid. With stars in his eyes and more energy than a Chihuahua hiked up on red bull and pure, liquified blue raspberry. Of course you had the occasional leech who saw in some news report that he used to be a street kid which resulted in several rumours about his ‘horrid violent nature’ but all it took was actually meeting him for most to completely disregard this.
After his death he doesn’t hang around the rest of the family much. Especially not in public and out of masks. However there is the occasional day (once every millennia or so) where he’ll stroll up to whatever part or gala or social event the Wayne’s are hosting that day, with his foolproof, impenetrable disguise Tayson Jodd absolutely no relation to Brucies dead kid, nor the elusive red hood who has a hate account dedicated to his very existence.
His whole thing tends to be a regular upstanding member of society. He acts completely normal. This wasn’t always the case. He used to change it every time he went to the parties, either acting as some depressed, lonely rich guy or an alcoholic and on one particularly memorable occasion a closeted drag Queen. However one time he showed up without a persona pre made and ready to go and just decided to wing it.
However Tim Drakes insane paranoia meant he stayed up a good 3 weeks after that night just to make sure Jason wasn’t trying anything and when Red hood found out he found it absolutely hilarious and resolved to be as respectable as possible while also generating maximum suspicion for all other members of his family.
Stephanie Brown
Although not officially adopted by the Wayne’s most people have gotten used to seeing her just roll up with the Wayne’s and it didn’t take long for social media to realise that Brucie had emotionally adopted her, if not legally. At first Steph didn’t really understand the need for a persona. She was already fine with keeping her actual personality and not turning it off for the cameras.
It took seeing Jason, who was having an absolute blast with his public persona to open her mind to the range of possibilities and she spent a full 3 months crafting a personality from scratch (putting that psychology degree to good use).
She cycled through a couple. Rich party girl, serious career woman, ditzy idiot. But eventually she landed on scheming socialite. She saw some tabloids slandering her for being Tim’s ex and although the rest of the family was not happy she took it and ran with it. Landing herself in the circles of the most gossip loving, shit talking, hot woman she could find.
She makes sure she exudes villainy at all times and has been seen eyeing Timothy Drake from across the room, stroking a cat (though no one knew where she got it from) and sipping a martini. Although she doesn’t particularly like how cruel some of her companions are she finds no greater joy than passively aggressively remarking about how Donna is wearing the same heels she was 3 years ago and oh my is she running low on funds? She was born to instigate and takes every opportunity to do so.
Tim Drake
If Tim is known for anything then it’s his ability to appear as though everything has gone to his exact calculations on the outside while internally screaming and just completely winging whatever half brained plan comes to mind. But one forgets, he isn’t just a Wayne but a Drake. Son of Janet Drake at that.
As a kid he was very much a mamas boy and would replicate her cold calculating air to the best abilities of a 10 year old boy. As he grew up however he realised that he much preferred letting people underestimate him. So in the end he settled on the stoner.
It was pretty unexpected for most of his family. Bar Dick who embraced it with all the reverence of a chaotic older sibling. Of course Tim Drake being as meticulous as he is meant when he made this persona built it from the ground up. He gave himself a favourite drug, a fake dealer, and he methodically updates his account balance every week, taking out just enough that it looks like he’s been buying.
Not only does this have the added benefit of explaining the random times he’s passed out in the middle of a party or those random compilations of him on YouTube simply staring into the abyss for hours on end, but it also means he had to try way less than his siblings when it comes to presentation. If Dick or Bruce show up with even so much as a slightly ruffled collar the tabloids will go on for weeks about the mystery guy or girl they definitely slept with. But when Tim does it, they just laugh. He gets a pat on the head and a glass of water shoved into his hands and no one thinks anything more.
And if he can also use it as an excuse for a few extra minuets of sleep then whose going to stop him?
Cassandra Cain
Cass didn’t need to do much of anything. When she first arrived in Gotham she was small, quite and not very well versed in social customs so it was practically written in the stars that she’d become an instant fan favourite. However unlike most of her siblings most of her fans aren’t focused on her what she’s been doing, or with who, but rather on trying to spot her.
She’s some aloof, mysterious figure to them and she’s also become a bit of a where’s Waldo meme. News reporters will post overview shots of the huge hall the guest are occupying, the grounds of the manor, the well kept lawns, the roofs, and the internet will go crazy trying to find her. At first it was difficult but only because she kept to herself, you’d find her in a corner of the room, or hiding behind one of the taller guests but ever since she realised what was going on she’s been making a conscious effort to make it as difficult as possible.
Some of her hiding spots include: under the table, the roof, inside the fountain, disguised as Dick Grayson, a statue, on the chandelier, and somehow as one of the reporters, camera and all. It’s become a bit of a game to see who can find her first and she remains Gothams favourite Wayne.
Duke Thomas
Duke isn’t really sure what to make of this whole public persona thing. He finds hiding such a big part of himself a little strange, and doesn’t much enjoy the idea of putting on a mask for others. So he does what he does best and puts the rest of the Wayne’s to shame with his sound logic.
He’s just himself. And somehow manages to cause the biggest impact. The people aren’t used to rich people not being overly eccentric. This is Gotham after all! And Duke Thomas’ actual personality is not exactly something they were expecting.
This is the same man who raised an army of teenage armies in the absence of his hero. To call him impulsive would be an understatement. Also he very much enjoys ‘eating the rich’ so to speak. He used his powers to convince one particularly nasty man that he needed full psychiatric care by randomly disappearing whenever he was in their line of sight.
He hangs out with Dick a lot, but only so when the worst of the Gotham socialites approach he can make them feel as uncomfortable as possible by questioning their thoughts and feelings on the working class, living conditions and all the other stuff they usually couldn’t care less about which leaves them scrambling for an answer that won’t completely ruin their reputations. Although he’s been branded ‘the responsible one’ that’s only because he presents himself as such to reporters. Most of the people attending the galas live in fear of him ever approaching them.
Damian Wyane
Being the youngest meant that people already had expectations by the time Damian showed up. Although most had no idea where the kid came from that didn’t stop them from making assumptions, and the rumours circulating from before he was officially introduced range from a mini Bruce Wayne to raging alcoholic. And yes, these were published when reporters knew damn well he was 10 years old maximum.
When the public do finally see him for the first time it doesn’t take them long to craft a persona for him. Damian of course sees this whole thing as beneath him, he doesn’t understand why he would need to hide himself, he didn’t train with the league for years to just not show of his skills. Dick tries to get him to think of it like training, as though he were on an undercover mission. This works a little too well and now he takes it so incredibly seriously it’s hard for the others not to laugh.
He arrived, squeezed in between Brucie Wayne who was blowing kisses to the camera, Dick Grayson doing a handstand, Tim Drake who looked absolutely blitzed and Stephanie Brown who was manically rubbing her hands together. Cass nowhere to be found and Duke giving his classic sunny smile to the camera.
So of course people realise this kid must be the adult. There’s jokes about how Damian must be the one doing the Wayne’s taxes, about how he probably drives Bruce to work, and other such things. Which is only further cemented by the kid himself. But he also doesn’t talk much (Dick said if he had nothing nice to say he shouldn’t say anything), and a few (illegally taken) photos show him drawing, as well as his small army of pets and so people are torn between this kid who is clearly far too mature for his age and this cute baby of a child who likes fluffy animals and crayons.
Damian is disgusted by both sides, but there isn’t much he can do about it and resolves instead to fuck with everyone by leaning into it and alternating on a seemingly random basis between clueless child and grown adult in a 10 year olds body. It mostly ends up terrifying the rest of his family because occasionally Damian (who several of them watched kill a man) will come up smiling and demand to be placed on their shoulders, and other times the same kid (who found a cow a decided immediately he was a vegetarian) will be found sipping straight vodka and going on about the good old days with people 8x his age as though he were some drunken world war 2 veteran.

𝔟𝔩𝔞𝔠𝔨 𝔠𝔞𝔱 𝑔𝑜𝓁𝒹𝑒𝓃 𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇 | 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨
Tumblr media
Your friend had reluctantly dragged you out of bed to go to said party. You weren’t a big fan of parties but this was a house party, so you despised it. Dressed in all black with sliver jewellery to accent and heavy makeup you wanted to look as intimidating as possible, hoping that your friend would get drunk enough to take home early and not have to socialise with anybody. Within the first hour of your arrival your friend had run off and practically ditched you, some friend you thought. She find her way back to you eventually.
You stood in the corner nursing a can of coke while occasionally either looking for your friend within the groups of people or checking your phone. A hand waving at you broke your gaze. You looked over towards the hand and saw Jack Wright waving at you. The two of you were mutuals and had met each other a few times. You gave a small wave back. He waved you. Rolling your eyes you cautiously made your way over to him.
“Hey it’s good to see you”. Jack said pulling you into a side hug.
“Yeah it’s good to see you too”. You say awkwardly returning the hug.
“What are you doing here?”
“My friend dragged me here and then she ditched me”.
“Well you’re more than welcome to hang around here with us”.
You took a look around at the people Jack was referring to. They were all in small groups talking amongst themselves but together making one big circle. You shrugged, “sure”.
You talked to Jack for a bit before a small group makes their way towards you. They all seemed to be talking to Jack, which you were fine with, and occasionally asking you questions. You check your phone, looking through your messages, texting back people, having a quick scroll through instagram before finally looking up to see Jack and the rest of the group nowhere in sight. Great. Confused you kept looking around to see if you could see them anywhere.
“Looking for someone?” A voice coming from behind you asked. You turned around to see the person, he had shaggy blond hair almost brown and his hands and arms were covered in tattoos. He was hot.
“Yeah, I looked away for a minute and Jack was gone”. You replied. You turned your head back still trying to spot Jack anywhere.
“Your friends with Jack?”
“I guess”. You respond rather abruptly.
Sensing your uneasiness, the boy said, “you can just chill with me until he gets back. Jack tends to wander but he’ll be back”.
Shrugging your shoulders you agreed and moved a little closed to the boy. He introduced himself, his name was Vinnie. You told him your name back.
“Um excuse me we were kind of having a conversation”. The blonde girl next to him says, flipping her hair behind her shoulder.
“By all means continue”. You say while putting your hands up defensively.
A few minutes go by before Vinnie starts slowly including you into the conversation. He seems sweet. He also seems very kind and genuine despite his fuck boy appearance. You like him.
“I just don’t think you’re quite Vinnie’s type”. The blonde says. She hadn’t been very fond of your inclusion in hers and Vinnie’s conversations.
“His type?” You questioned, taken aback by her comment out of the blue. “Bold of you to assume HE’S my type”.
Vinnie smiled, putting his hand over his mouth to hold in his laughter.
“I mean at best he’s like a 5/10”. The blonde was stunned you called this Greek god of a man a 5/10, but before you either of you could say anything you hear a loud laughter coming from your friend.
Looking over you saw your friend stumbling into people as she’s walking aimlessly through the house.
“I have to go”. You turn back to tell Vinnie. You start to walk away.
“Hey”. Vinnie says, stopping your movement. “Could I like, maybe get your number?”
“I don’t give my number out to any rando”. You look him up and down one last time. “But I’ll give you my instagram”.
Smiling Vinnie hands you his phone and you start looking up your username. Clicking on your profile you hand him back his phone before walking away, grabbing your friend and driving home. A smile placed upon your face.

Matching Costume Headcanons
masterlist
Pairing: marvel characters x gn!reader
Characters: Frank Castle, Loki, Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, Bucky Barnes, Peter Parker, Yelena Belova, Matt Murdock, Natasha Romanoff, Wanda Maximoff
Warnings: franks part was so fluffy and cheesy it hurt my heart and then theres matt being the biggest whore, nat is a menace
happy halloween all!❤️
𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒍𝒆
Tumblr media
he finds the costumes in the closet when he’s looking for something
“oh god”
knows exactly what it means even when he sees you and your innocent smile standing in the doorway
doesn’t even want to go out for halloween, but now he has to because he’s not going to turn you down when you look so excited and you obviously put time into finding the costumes
complains about how the costume fits on him and how it’s too tight in places
will put on a smile on his face even if he might not feel 100% into it, but by the end of the night he’ll won’t be able to help the genuine smile on his face, even if the costumes are of the dumbest things
gets tired of certain accessories on him and tries to take them off for a while, but is forced to put them right back on when he sees the look you have on your face
doesn’t care what he’s wearing he’s just glad he’s spending time with you and wouldn’t have it any other way
will put this costume or any other costume on again if you want him to mans actually will not care as long as you’re there with him
𝑳𝒐𝒌𝒊
Tumblr media
when you bring up the idea of matching costumes together he’s confused at this custom
“why would you want to dress as something else?”
you eventually convince him to do it and can see that he’s more excited for it than he lets on
lets you do all the planning as it was your idea after all
he pretends to be reading and fully immersed in the book when you’re putting some things together for the costumes
he’s not good at hiding his interest
when you ask him to try on the costume for the first time he’s very reluctant and makes a big deal out of it
you practically have to push him into the bathroom to change, him mumbling about how he can just use magic to put it on, but you insist that he has to put it on the correct way
will complain the entire time when out in public while wearing the costume about “dumb midgardian traditions”
will do it again next year if you ask really nicely:))
𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒍 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔
Tumblr media
you have multiple different costumes that you change into as the night progresses
is very committed to the different costumes
one costume she carries a boombox around on her shoulder and you know that mf is so heavy to be carried around like that
has you both take a picture of every single costume you change into
goes out dancing with the costumes on and you have the time of your lives
will put out the wackiest dance moves, attempting to make them correlate to the costume she’s wearing, but ends up just jumping around
will run down the street and drag you along with her, she enjoys the freeing feeling of the wind along with the costume she’s in
hosts a halloween costume party so she can show everyone both of your costumes at once
overall she really just likes halloween
you’ll bake food and treats while in your costumes
she’s really tempted to dress up for the entire week of halloween but eventually just decides to do the day of when you mention the work that would have to go into it, even though she had enough costumes to do so
you did it really just to save yourself so you wouldn’t have to dress up for an entire week
𝑲𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝑲𝒉𝒂𝒏
Tumblr media
she brings up the idea of matching costumes with the most excitement out of anyone
will have bruno make both the costumes— captain marvel of course but if you want to make your own she would be ecstatic and check up on the progress of it practically every minute
won’t stop talking about the costumes and how cute you guys are going to look in them
has her costume done months in advance
keeps giving you tips on different things you can do with your costume and adds the same things to her costume
the week of halloween no one can get her to shut up
she’s bouncing off the walls as halloween draws closer and the time to wear our costumes comes
her parents are constantly trying to get her to calm down but she’s kamala and she’s going to be excited when she gets to dress up as her favorite superhero
when you guys are out with your costumes she’s constantly raving on how cute they are and how you have the best costumes
already talks about next years costumes when the night is barely over
𝑩𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒚 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒔
Tumblr media
you surprise him with the costumes when they’re finally finished and are ready for him to see
he’s caught off guard by them, not being prepared for you presenting him with matching costumes, even though he knows halloween is coming up and you were bound to do something for it
he’s always down to try new things, so instead of dismissing and ignoring the outfits, he’ll embrace them and get excited to when you both can wear them out together
even if you guys don’t go out and do something he’ll still find dressing up in the costumes and doing whatever you guys do fun
as long as the costumes aren’t incredibly cheesy and dumb
when you suggest dressing up as tom and jerry he’s completely against it after you had to explain to him what it was
ends up going out in the costume anyway because he can’t bring himself to turn you down when you seem excited, even if it’s because of him being humiliated
will look into doing it again next year, but has to have a say in the costumes from here on out and won’t be afraid to turn any ideas down; he let you have your fun this year
𝑷𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒓
Tumblr media
has a million costume ideas you guys can do together
from peanut butter and jelly to two of the ninja turtles this man has everything you wouldn’t have even considered in a million years covered
takes this more seriously than some major school assignments
if you turn down all the ideas he has he’ll just go and come up with more until you eventually agree to one
has multiple color palettes to choose from for the costumes to make it to your liking
takes so many pictures of you two in the costumes
you will find him enthusiastically showing off the costume to other people and motioning to you from across the room as he talks
will want to make it an annual thing from this point on after you two got so much positive feedback
he wants to go everywhere with the costumes on; into every store and restaurant just to show them off happily leading the way as you trail behind him
you have to force him to take it off and put on regular clothes at the end of the night when he’s very reluctant to take the costume off
𝒀𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒂 𝑩𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒂
Tumblr media
you both dress as the dumbest things you could possibly find
you walk around spirit halloween to find something and she grabs everything she sees
there’s a point where you find a mask and you walk up behind her to scare her with it
she screams inside the store, almost punching you and you have to quickly shush her and pull the mask off to show her that you’re not a murderer under it
she just stares at you with an open mouth and wide eyes before she starts to laugh asking why you would do that between the laughs
you practically try on half the store, forgetting you’re there to find costumes to actually go out with
she comes out of the dressing room with tears in her eyes from how hard she’s laughing when you put on peppa pig costumes you found
you two almost get kicked out of the store when she knocks over accessories on a shelf and has to rapidly put everything back
picks out the most random accessories that don’t go with the costumes at all
you stay in the store until it closes and you have to rush to check out the costumes you eventually decide on
you both go out drinking and have a good time in the costumes that you eventually get
𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕 𝑴𝒖𝒓𝒅𝒐𝒄𝒌
Tumblr media
doesn’t really see the point of matching costumes since he won’t even be able to see what you look like, but caves when he can tell that you really want to
questions little tiny accessories that you have to clip on for him
you mess with him saying the costume is neon pink and his eyes visibly widen for a second before he realizes that you’re messing with him
will find himself smiling the whole night especially when people comment on the costumes
talks you up and gives you all the credit for the costumes if people ask about them
you purposely make his costume pants extra tight (for no apparent reason)
the little whore knows you did it on purpose too and will make you regret it
“accidentally” keeps dropping his glasses and bending down to pick them up
you offer to pick them up for him but he insists that he’s fine doing it himself
causes multiple instances in where he has to walk in front of you for something
he’s such a whore.
𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐟𝐟
Tumblr media
picks out all the details for the costumes
she says every accessory makes a difference, no matter how small the detail is
the costumes are so tight they might as well just be painted on
makes the costumes identical to each other, with just the color of them being slightly different
walks in like she owns the place with your rightful place next to her
won’t let you leave her side for the whole time when you’re both wearing your costumes
she says you both have to be seen together with the costumes at all times or the magic will disappear
just smiles at you when you tell her you have to go to the bathroom and she motions for you to lead the way
you just sigh knowing you won’t be able to do anything about it and if she follows you into the bathroom she follows you into the bathroom
now you’re stuck with her and every year you’re going to be in the same boat you’re in now
𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐟𝐟
Tumblr media
you both spend time planning the costumes figuring out what you’re going to be and the design on how they’re going to look
you make a joke of you both going as witches and apparently the idea just stuck so now you’re designing different witch costumes you both can wear
makes the costumes as cliche as possible with the pointy hats and brooms
gives you a pointed look when you hold a broom up to her and she doesn’t grab it at first but then can’t help but let out a laugh as she grabs it
she even makes her costume have red highlights throughout it
will talk in the cliche witches voice
you’ll be getting a drink or washing your hands and she’ll come up behind you with her hands out and fingers bent
“i’ll get you my pretty”
it actually scares you because you’re not expecting it
you whip your body around, about to attack the intruder behind you when you just see wanda there and she starts laughing at your reaction
she draws the line at the cackle you ask her to do
at one point you run around on your brooms, zooming through different people
makes sure to stay home earlier in the night so she can pass out candy to trick or treaters

a/n: hiiii miss me? sorry about the lack of posting but june was a batshit crazy month for me and i’ve been dealing with a bit of writer’s block. i hate this title but 🤷🏼‍♀️ @making-it-big had prompted a fic where andrei was facetiming the kids while he’s away and this is what came of that idea! hope you guys enjoy 🥰
word count: 3k
tw: none! this is just some soft family cuteness
summary: while he’s on the road, andrei never misses a facetime call with you and the kids
The one thing you never forget though, is the nightly FaceTime with Andrei when he’s on the road. Every single road game is different when it comes to the call - sometimes they’re late at night and shorter, other times he’ll have time to talk for a while before they leave for the airport. It doesn’t matter where Andrei is, he FaceTimes you and the kids every day.
Tonight, the team’s in Columbus, after flying in from Detroit earlier in the afternoon. They have the night off before their game tomorrow. You only know the schedule because you have it all written out meticulously on the giant calendar in the kitchen. You had made fun of the calendar when some of the other older and more experienced WAGs had told you about it, but now it’s your saving grace. Otherwise you’d have basically no idea where in North America your husband is unless he’s next to you.
The kids are buzzing, excited to talk to Andrei and update him on the past few days. Evie and Alina jostle for their favored positions on the couch, eventually deciding that Alina gets to be wedged against the arm and Evie gets the other 2/3 of the couch cushion. You’re not sure how that ended up being the deal, but you’re not about to get involved in the careful negotiations between sisters. Kira, the ever unbothered middle child, wanders in and out of the den, various toys and snacks coming and going with her. “Hey,” you call out to her, stopping the five-year-old in her tracks. She looks up at you with wide eyes. “That’s the last Oreo,” you point at her, raising an eyebrow and crossing your index finger over your heart, your code with the kids that you’re serious and that they better promise to listen.
Kira blinks innocently at you and chirps, “yes, mommy!” in a tone that has you getting up from your squatted position at the coffee table and moving into the kitchen to take the family-sized pack of Oreos from a lower cabinet and moving it to a cabinet above the fridge. Kira pouts at you, clutching her remaining snacks in her hands.
“Remember when your tummy hurt because you ate too much cake at D’s birthday party and you puked on Daddy’s lap?” You ask, adjusting Maks in the carrier attached to your chest. The three-month-old yawns and presses his cheek to your chest, little eyelids fluttering shut.
“Oh,” Kira pulls a face, looking just like Andrei, “I didn’t like that. Puking was gross.”
You point at her, grinning, “too many Oreos before bed will make your tummy hurt and you might puke again.”
She looks scared, her eyes opening wide, and you almost feel bad for her. But then she looks down at the two Oreos clutched in her hands and shoves them both in her mouth, spewing crumbs as she shouts, “I don’t wanna puke, Mommy!” while running back into the den and around the dining room table.
“Your sister is such a little weirdo,” you murmur affectionately to Maks. The baby burrows his face close to your chest and you check the time over the stove - 6:43 - which means he’ll be up for a feed soon enough. Hopefully he’ll be awake while Andrei’s still on the call. Turning back to the den, you start to say, “girls, let’s give Daddy —“ stopping short when none of your children are in sight. Evie and Alina are gone from the couch and Kira isn’t in the room, although you can hear her singing to herself from behind a few walls. If you had to guess, she’s doing princess twirls in front of the full length mirror in the foyer.
You shake your head and mutter, “where the hell did they all go?”
Dimitri toddles into the room, blocks clutched in his chubby little baby hands. “Mama!” He shouts, holding the blocks up. “Yook!” You grin at his little speech impediment - he can’t say his Ls yet and they all sound like Ys. “Bocks”
“That’s right, buddy, blocks! Were you building something?” You take the blocks he offers you, holding the pair of them in one hand and taking his hand in your free one, leading him over to the couch so you can hopefully get this FaceTime call started.
“Bi’ding for mama,” he says proudly and you press a kiss to the top of his head, inhaling the scent of baby shampoo.
“Mama loves your building, but how about we call Papa?” You pitch your voice higher, infusing excessive excitement into your tone. Dimitri giggles and claps his hands.
“Papa! Papa!” He chants and while he’s distracted you reach over and tap at the screen of the iPad, swiping Andrei’s contact information and bringing up the FaceTime screen. Dimitri fidgets on the couch for the entire thirty seconds it takes for Andrei to answer, but once he sees Andrei’s face fill the screen, Dimitri shouts, “Papa!” and his face splits into a huge grin.
Andrei’s face is wearing a matching grin and he shouts back, “Dimka! How’s Papa’s big boy?”
You lean against the back of the couch while Dimitri babbles to Andrei, watching as your husband’s entire face lights up while they chat. Dimitri is Andrei’s little clone, if the baby pictures Elena sends are any indication, and when their faces are side by side like this, you can totally see it. Every so often, Andrei’s gaze slips over to look at you and he smiles, winking. You return the expression, one hand resting over Maks’s back. Dimitri could chatter about anything and everything, using his limited toddler vocabulary, and you shout up the stairs for the girls, still wondering where the older two went. Maks continues to sleep soundly, even after you’ve shouted for them twice - the fifth kid really learns to sleep anywhere and under any conditions.
“Coming!” Evie shouts back and then there she and Alina are, traipsing down the stairs in too long sweaters that you recognize from Andrei’s closet. They’re holding the hems of the sweaters in their hands like they’re princesses wearing ball gowns and it’s adorable. Both girls are tall for their age - the Svechnikov genes at work - but even still the sweaters hang to their ankles when they release the knit.
“What are you two doing?” You ask, pulling Alina back by her shoulder so you can twist her long hair up into a bun on top of her head. The seven-year-old is always wandering around with her hair in her face and you hate it, always worried she’s going to fall down the stairs because she can’t see anything.
Alina struggles under your hands, trying to get away from the bun, but you’re faster than she is and tie it off quickly before she runs off to the den, throwing herself onto the couch and interrupting Dimitri so she can start telling Andrei all about her day.
You turn to Evie and she looks a little shifty, but also extremely pleased with herself while she twists her fingers in the sleeves of Andrei’s sweater. “We just wanted Dad to know, like, because he wears the bracelets me and Al and Kira made for him when he plays in other places so we know that he misses us. We wanted to wear his sweaters when he calls so he knows we miss him,” she explains in a rambling, breathless monologue that has your tearing up with the sweetness of her gesture.
“How did we get so lucky with you?” You murmur, cupping her chin and kissing the top of her head. “Sweet as iced tea.”
She beams, happy with your praise, and runs off to join her brother and sister. You can hear her interrupt Alina’s story, talking over her sister to tell Andrei that she picked the sweaters special because she’s the oldest. Kira appears from somewhere, a juice box in her hand, and you shake your head. The four kids are piled on the couch, all talking over each other and not letting Andrei get a word in edgewise. From your spot behind the couch, you have a full view of his face and the completely adoring expression on his face. He’s smiling and laughing, trying to pay attention to all four of them at once and making it look easy.
Maks fusses against your chest and you look at the time, nearly 7:30, so while the kids are distracted and with Maks still strapped to your chest, you adjust so your breast is out and Maks can eat, wincing a little when he struggles for a second before latching on. The general chaos coming from the couch starts to cool off and one by one, the kids run out of things to say, starting to peel away from the screen. Kira disappears, as is her M.O. as the middle child, and Alina wiggles to the floor to start doing somersaults.
Dimitri is flat on his back on the couch, kicking his feet in the air, dangerously close to Evie’s head while she recounts the play date she had the day before. “And Mom said we get to watch the game tomorrow at Auntie Nykki’s so we get to see Gigi and are you suuuuure we can’t get a dog?” she finishes, deploying giant puppy dog eyes.
“I’m sure,” Andrei laughs, shaking his head. “It’s not fair to Mama, to have to take care of a dog and you crazy little goblins.”
“Buuuut….” Evie winds up to start begging, but you cut in.
“Eve, we talked about this. No puppy until you’re older, now time to say goodnight to Dad and head off to bed,” you ruffle her hair a little, bracing your hand against the back of Maks’s head when you lean forward a bit.
Andrei jumps in before Evie can protest, “I’ll talk to you tomorrow, okay zaychik? Spokoynoy nochi.”
“Spokoynoy nochi,” Evie replies, blowing kisses through the screen. Alina and Kira appear for virtual goodnight kisses too and you hoist Dimitri onto your hip and give Andrei the “one-minute” gesture while you usher the girls upstairs and get their teeth brushed and tucked into bed.
With Dimitri still clinging to you like a koala and Maks fast asleep in a milk coma, you finally return to the den and drop down onto the couch. “Hi,” you grin at Andrei. Dimitri rests his head on your thigh and runs a toy car over the cushion, clearly fading but reluctant to sleep. He’ll be out in a few minutes and you’ll transition him to his bed.
“Hi,” Andrei grins back. “Miss you.”
“Miss you too,” you card your fingers through Dimitri’s fine blond hair. “They were on something different tonight. And just so you know, both girls are sleeping in your sweaters.”
He shifts from sitting on the hotel bed to lying back against the pillows, tucking one hand behind his head and hiding the colourful braided and beaded bracelets that Evie, Alina, and Kira had made him. A soft smile makes his dimple pop. “We got lucky with them,” he says.
“We did,” you adjust Maks in the carrier, pulling aside the fabric covering the back of his head so Andrei can see him a little better. You’re getting warm having sixteen pounds of baby strapped so close to your chest. “How’s Columbus?”
“Boring,” he snorts a laugh. His smile turns a little sly. “What are you wearing?”
You laugh a little, until a new and familiar voice chimes in. “Oh fuck no,” Martin Necas yelps. “You’ve got five fucking kids, don’t tell me that you’re still chatting her up like a twenty-something idiot.”
Marty’s been your husband’s roommate on the road for years now, but you didn’t realize that he’d been around while the kids were talking to Andrei.
On-screen, Andrei smirks, a cocky expression taking over his face, “how do you think we got five kids? The stork?”
A towel flies into view from off-screen, whacking Andrei in the face while he laughs. You giggle at their antics and Neci comes into view, poking his head in front of Andrei’s phone. “Don’t let him talk to you like that, you’ve got all the power. He’s fucking whipped,” he teases, ruffling his hand through damp hair.
“Don’t worry,” you grin. “I’ve got babies attached to my hip and spit up all over my shirt. No chance he finds this attractive.”
Andrei’s expression turns hungry and he scrubs a hand over his bearded chin, the rasp of his fingers over the hair sending a shiver down your spine. “Neci, cover your ears, I want to say something adult to my wife,” Andrei teases. “It’s not for the ears of children.”
“Fuck you,” Marty whips a pillow from his bed at Andrei. It lands with a hollow noise on Andrei’s stomach and he exhales heavily. “One, I’m older than you and two, your literal children are right there. You’re gonna be disgusting in front of them?”
You smother a laugh with your hand. “Dimitri is passed out,” you say, angling the iPad down so they can see the conked out toddler spread out starfish style on the couch, toy car held loosely in one hand. “And Maks is definitely out.” You show them the infant, his little rosebud mouth gaping open and his eyelids twitching as he dreams. “So you’re good to say whatever you want.”
“No, do not encourage him,” Marty groans. “I have to share a room with him.”
Andrei tosses the pillow back, but Marty was expecting it and catches the pillow in mid-air. “You know, I’m the Captain. I don’t have to share a room,” Andrei says.
“You’d miss me too much,” Marty grins, waggling his eyebrows. “If you two are going to be disgusting, I’m leaving.”
“Good, leave,” Andrei deadpans.
You click your tongue, “be nice! What kind of leadership are you displaying?”
“Yeah, listen to your wife,” Marty teases, getting out of bed and shoving his feet into a pair of slides. “I’m telling Roddy that you’re a shitty Captain.”
He shoves at Andrei’s shoulder on his way out, waving to you. The door clicks shut behind him and you shake your head at Andrei, “you two are terrible.”
Andrei waves a hand in the air, grinning. “Neci’s dealt with worse from me on the road. I ever tell you about the food poisoning incident?”
“No,” you wince, “and I don’t want to know.” You yawn and apologize. “Sorry, baby. I’m exhausted.”
“I’m sorry I’m not there,” he replies, rubbing at his chin again. He pauses and you’re both quiet for a bit, just soaking up the other’s presence. Dimitri’s hand goes completely slack and he drops the toy car to the floor. You kick it slightly under the coffee table so you don’t step on it later. Andrei coughs a little, “it’s only been a couple days, but it feels like they’re different. Bigger.”
“The only one that really grew this week is this guy,” you pat Maks’s diapered bottom. “Gained another pound from his last checkup.”
Andrei grins. He sits up and pushes his hair off his forehead, leaning closer to the screen. “That’s my boy,” he chuckles. “How big is he now?”
“Sixteen pounds,” you laugh, shifting him against your chest. “He’s in the eightieth percentile for his age, Drei.”
“Big boy,” Andrei replies.
“Takes after his Daddy,” you blow him a kiss, yawning again. “I know it’s not even nine, but I really need to sleep for a bit before tiny Hulk wakes up for his next feeding.”
Andrei nods. “I know, I’m sorry I kept you up. I miss you.”
“I miss you too,” you tuck Maks back into the carrier so you can bring boy boys upstairs easier. “But you’ll be home in two days and then I’m happily passing off parenting duties to you.”
“I can’t wait, solnyshka,” Andrei says seriously, eyes twinkling at the prospect of being back home. “And once I handle parenting, I have a few things I’d like to do with you.”
You laugh, “those adult things that you kicked Marty out of the room to say?”
Andrei hums and affirmative. “I never even got to say them.” His lower lip pokes out in a pout, a childish expression in direct contrast with his beard and blown pupils.
“I’ll use my imagination,” you assure him. “I love you.”
“Love you,” he puckers his lips at you in a kiss and you tap the screen, ending the call. You skimp back against the couch for a minute, resting, before you get to your feet and lift Dimitri’s toddler dead weight into your arms to bring him up to bed. Once you’ve checked and reassured yourself that all five kids are asleep and tucked in bed, you finally crawl into your own bed and pass out for a bit before getting up to feed Maks. You’re so ready for Andrei to come home.
When he does come home, two days later, he bounds through the front door full of energy, swinging you into a kiss that makes you laugh and swooping the two closest children - Kira and Dimitri - up into his arms. They squeal with excitement that Daddy is home. The older two girls are at school and Andrei insists on being the one to pick them up, buckling Kira and Dimitri into their car seats and taking the fully loaded Navigator to the school.
He has the windows rolled down and the three of them wave at you while he backs down the driveway. Andrei at the wheel of the Navigator with all the children in tow is a much different picture than Andrei behind the wheel of his string of ugly coloured Lamborghinis.
His grin though, that full, missing-toothed, dimpled smile? That grin is the same on your thirty-six year old husband as it was on the twenty-one year old golden retriever of a boy you fell in love with.

Usually Saturday nights are for you to stay home and relax. You take the night off from studying or doing any chore. You prefer to stay home, watch the newest thriller movie or a romantic show, order some junk food and stay up till your body can no longer stay awake. But tonight your best friend had other plans.
She swayed you in, starting on Monday with saying stuff like, you stayed in again? Pfft you’re so boring and, only 20 and here you are, acting like a grandma. With subtle phrases like that is how she began her plan, making you feel old for not going out as much. While it is true that you prefer to stay in, you also don’t like to be shamed for it and especially don’t like being made to feel old for it.
Although you stood your ground. But Friday night you caved in when she told you the possibility of attractive people showing up to this hang out. Kaya refuses to call it a party, just saying that just a couple of her friends were showing up and they’d spend the night together. She couldn’t show up without her best friend, could she? And that was that. But this doesn’t look like just a couple of her friends hanging out.
Her arm is intertwined with yours as you walk into the apartment. There’s some music playing softly in the background, careful not to be too loud and bother the neighbors. Some groups stay aside, sipping on their drinks and speaking with their friends or new acquaintances. There’s not so many people, but definitely a lot. Too many for it to be just a small hang out, and you’re almost one hundred percent sure that Kaya doesn’t know half of these people.
“Daisuke!” Kaya raises her voice to get his attention, and the man turns his head. She waves at him and his cheeks begin to turn pink. He shyly waves back. She lets go of you and walks over to him, while you decide to go to the kitchen to grab yourself a drink.
There’s a couple in the kitchen, at least you think they’re a couple before catching a bit of their conversation. You try not to stare as you grab a drink, but it’s hard not to. The conversation is so interesting to hear, considering you don’t get this kind of free entertainment at home.
“I told you to leave me alone.” The man says. You take in every single one of his features, and you can’t deny that he’s handsome. He’s tall– Very tall. His hair is an unusual white color and he wears it down. You can’t get a look at his eyes since he wears shades, which you find unusual since it’s dark out and you’re inside.
“Oh, c’mon. Stop pretending like you don’t want me. I’ve seen the way you look at me.” She tells him. Although you don’t understand where she’s coming from since the shades that he wears hide anything. She’s talking confidently, and she has a basis for this confidence because she’s stunning.
“I don’t fucking want you. I’ve made it clear around six times already.” The man is getting irritated. You understand his point of view and his reaction, because you would be the same if you had to repeatedly reject a guy. “I’ve been so nice to you the other times to not hurt your feelings but you can’t seem to get it through your skull. I. Don’t. Want. To. Be. With. You.”
You see her get flushed, and she looks down at the ground in shame, not liking the harsh tone that the man used when talking to her. It’s quite mean, but you understand why he’s talking that way. “Look, Leiko, I’m tired of this. Every single time I come around Daisuke, you keep bugging me. I enjoy spending time with Daisuke but I’ll have to stop coming around if you’re with him because I can’t take it. You’re irritating.”
She composes herself, realizing that he’s just a weak man and he’ll fall eventually. For now he’s just playing hard to get, maybe to just brag to his friends about how he kept rejecting her and she always went back. She smooths out her skirt before turning on her heel.
“Your loss.” She tells him before beginning to walk away. She tosses her hair back before noticing how you’ve been staring. She scoffs, “What are you looking at?”
Your face goes warm, realizing how you were just blatantly staring as she got rejected. You grab your drink and leave before the man can say anything to you. You walk over to Kaya, who sits on the couch and talks to Daisuke. She lays her head on your shoulder as she continues talking.
You look around, disassociating with the conversation and sounds around you. You sip on your drink and notice the people around you. Your eyes lock on someone and a sigh leaves your lips, one that makes Kaya look at you. “What’s wrong?”
“Guess who’s here.” Your voice is beyond apathetic, and she looks around for a minute. Then she spots him and rolls her eyes, throwing her arm over your shoulder.
“We can find you a boyfriend for the night if you want.” She suggests and you shake your head. You take a deep breath before chugging down every drop of your drink. You put the empty cup down on the coffee table.
“I’m leaving.” You tell her as you stand up from the couch. She grabs your arm and tries to stop you, but you brush her hand off. You walk out of the apartment, not caring to stop for your best friend who calls your name.
You run down the stairs and exit the building, just wanting to go as far away as possible just in case Kaya has plans of stopping you. You don’t care to look at your surroundings, something very irresponsible and dangerous considering how late it is.
You walk in the street, not noticing how many cars come. There’s a hand that pulls you back in, and in that moment you feel the breeze of the car that almost hit you at full speed. You look up at the man who’s looking down at you. You finally see the blue eyes that the man was hiding.
“Are you an idiot?” Are the words that leave his mouth. He’s still a bit upset about having to reject Leiko for the umpienth time. You don’t say anything, standing so close to him for another minute or so. It feels weird. Although you’re pressed against him, it doesn’t feel as if you’re really touching him.
“Sorry.” You finally say, coming to your senses. He lets go of you and practically tosses you to the side. “I wasn’t really… Thinking.”
“Yeah, I can see that.” He responds. You awkwardly stand for another second or so before turning. This time you actually stop and watch for cars. But you get this sudden impulse and you turn back to him. He stands there, watching so you don’t decide to walk into traffic again.
“I overheard your conversation with Leiko-“
“More like eavesdropped… Look, if you come to her defense, I don’t want to hear it. I’m tired of her and her little friends.” The man tells you, and you feel as if he’s rolling his eyes at you.
“No- On the contrary.” You say, which catches his attention. Nearly everyone around him is bugging him to take her as his girlfriend. It’s like they’re all secretly in love with her and know they can only live their dream through him. “I’m sorry. I know rejecting someone over and over again is hard and I totally understand why you spoke to her the way you did.”
“Thank you.” He responds. He’s glad to hear that because everyone else around him tells him otherwise. “I just feel so pressured by everyone.”
“Yeah… We went to the same high school and she was the prettiest girl there. She’s not used to getting rejected so I guess it’s why she’s acting like this.” You share. “And everyone loves her so it’s why they want you to say yes.”
“I don’t get why, she’s irritating.” He scoffs, which makes you let out a chuckle because you couldn’t agree more. It feels nice to know someone feels the same way as you.
“I totally agree. She’s so mean too but no one takes it seriously.” You tell him. He stands quietly for a minute, and you’re sure he’s staring at you but there’s no way for you to confirm since his shades block everything.
“Do you need to go somewhere?” He asks and you shake your head in response. Your plans are to go back home and that’s it. Your phone is silenced, and you’re sure that Kaya is blowing it up, but you know she isn’t going to leave the apartment and chase after you. “Do- Do you want to take a walk?”
“Uh… Sure.” You agree. He walks towards you and you turn to watch the oncoming traffic. You watch the pedestrian traffic light, and wait for it to turn green. Once it does, he does the unexpected and grabs your hand. He begins to walk, standing between you and the cars that are stopped.
“Have to make sure you don’t decide to jump on a car or something.” He says, and an awkward chuckle leaves your lips. You get to the other side and continue walking down the sidewalk, with no trajectory.
It hits you for a moment that you’re walking with a complete stranger. No name, no nothing. He could have malicious intent as he walks with you, yet you put your full trust in him.
“What’s your name?” You ask as he lets go of your hand.
“Satoru Gojo. You?” He responds. You tell him your name.
You walk mindlessly for a couple of minutes. You walk past multitudes of people in silence, and considering how neither of you speak, this all feels so futile. You wonder why he asked to walk together, and why you agreed.
“Do you want something to eat?” You offer and he hums in response. Although you have no idea where you’re at and what place offers good food.
Something catches Satoru’s eye. Not something that you were thinking of when you thought of food. The cupcake food truck is more of a dessert, but regardless he walks over there and you follow. And the list of cupcakes is endless, and it makes your mouth water a little.
“Hmm… What do you want?” He asks while your eyes are just glued to the menu, indecisive with the list that goes on and on. He receives silence from you, and he can’t blame you because he also has no idea what to pick. He’d buy every single item on the menu, but he knows that it’s too much. He’d end up full fast, and he doesn’t want to carry so many cupcakes back home.
“I think… Chocolate caramel.” You finally decide. There’s a bit of a line so Satoru has a bit of time to decide. In less than five minutes, you’re being attended.
“One chocolate caramel cupcake, a carrot cupcake and a red velvet cupcake.” He orders, and hearing the carrot cupcake makes you scrunch up your nose, but you keep your comments to yourself. He pays, and you immediately get them. His hands are very large so he manages to hold both of his cupcakes with one hand.
You walk a bit before finding a park that’s across the street. You both cross the street, this time Satoru doesn’t hold your hand. The park is empty, and you both stand around to eat your treats. You watch Satoru eat the red velvet cupcake first. He notices you staring and he raises his eyebrow, “Do you want to try?”
“I’m good.” You respond, eating your cupcake in peace. He finishes the red velvet one fast. He throws away the paper cup in the trash can that’s practically next to him. He gives it a minute before taking the first bite of his carrot cupcake. “Is that good?”
“Yeah, why?” He questions as he chews. He swallows before speaking again. “Have you never had carrot cake?”
You shake your head. He takes your cupcake from your hands and forces you to take the carrot one. He practically holds yours hostage. “Try it.”
“I’m good. Maybe some other time.” You tell him but he shakes his head.
“I will lick your cupcake and claim it as mine if you don’t take the smallest bite out of that.” He threatens you. “It’s so good. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it.”
“I’ll buy another cupcake.” You tell him, hoping that’s enough to make him give you back your cupcake. But it’s not. He shrugs in response.
“If that’s what you want to do, then go ahead.” He responds. You sigh, not wanting to go back for another cupcake so you take a miniscule bite from the one that’s in your hands. You aren’t the biggest fan of carrots but now you see that they aren’t so bad in cake.
“I did it.” You say and you exchange cupcakes and go back to eating. “It isn’t so bad.”
“See, I told you.” He replies. That response would normally make you roll your eyes, but you don’t really feel offended or annoyed by the response. You eat in complete and utter silence before walking to the swings of the park and sitting down.
You don’t know each other but you’re following each other’s every step. You sit quietly before he says your name. You look at him and he just says your name again.
“What?” You ask him and he shakes his head.
“I love your name.” He says. He says it once again. You love the way it rolls off his tongue. The way his voice makes it seem like the sweetest treat. While you never really felt anything sort of sentiment towards your name, for once you’re proud it’s yours. “If I ever have a daughter I want to give her that name.”
“Well it’s a pretty name so she’ll at least have a pretty name.” You tell him, and he chuckles. It feels weird. You both just met but you feel as if you can tell him anything. “So why did you leave? Were Leiko’s friends bothering you?”
“No, not yet. Left because I knew it was coming up and I didn’t want to deal with that.” He responds. He takes a deep breath, holding back from rolling his eyes at the thought of the woman he constantly has to reject because she won’t take a no as an answer. “I just needed fresh air. I’ve been annoyed with her and I know she would’ve been all over me if I stayed for much longer.”
“I’m sorry. That really sucks.” You sympathize. “I completely understand. And I bet a lot of them are on her side as well.”
“Daisuke is the only one that isn’t on her side. I don’t even know why I come around them when Daisuke is the only one I’m friends with.” Satoru shares. He isn’t even so close with Daisuke either, they just happened to meet and Satoru needed a friend. Ever since then Satoru goes around the man, but they aren’t particularly close. He clears his throat, tired of being the center of attention. He knows your name and that he saved your life but that’s it. “How about you? Why did you leave?”
“My ex-boyfriend was there and you can say we’re not on the best terms.” You confess, which spikes Satoru’s curiosity. Perhaps it’s cheating. It’s always something like that.
“What happened?” He asks before realizing how imprudent it is to just ask that when you two haven’t known each other for an hour. “Sorry- That’s really innapro-”
“No, it’s fine. Caught him talking to a couple other girls while he was promising he’d give me the world and all that. I confronted him about it and he said a couple nasty things along the lines that I’m unlovable and that he was so good to me. That I’ll never find another like him.” You share, causing Satoru to chuckle.
“Yeah, hopefully you don’t.” He responds, causing you to chuckle as well. “This is the first time I see you.”
“Yeah… I usually stay in. My best friend convinced me to come with her.” You tell him.
“Who’s your friend?” He questions. He has a person in mind but he won’t say it outloud. He waits for your response, and it’s who he was thinking. “Kaya? She’s really sweet. Are she and Daisuke a thing?”
“They’re both into each other but neither of them will make the first move.” You say. “It bothers me so much because she talks about him in such a sweet and loving voice yet she won’t confess. He won’t do anything about it either.”
“He really likes her, he just doesn’t know how to ask her out.” He tells you. “Maybe we can help them out.”
“How?” You ask, and he shrugs. He doesn’t know how he’d be able to help them out either. “I think it’s best if we leave it up to them. It’ll take a while.”
“Yeah, you’re right…” He responds.
“You can tell him it’s clear that she likes him so that’ll cheer him on.” You suggest. He slightly nods since it’s the best thing that can be thought of at the moment.
“Enough about them. Tell me more about you.” He says.
“Hmm… Well I’m 20 years old. I’m currently a university student majoring in education. And I like chocolate cupcakes. I don’t know what else to tell you at the moment.” You answer. Cupcakes are fresh on your mind, but all your other interests subside in your brain at the moment. “How about you, Satoru?”
“I’m also 20. I don’t go to university, I work… And I don’t have a favorite kind of cupcake because I love them all.” He replies. He finally takes off his shades, and you get somewhat of a good look at him. The street lights illuminate the park, but not bright enough. But he’s handsome, you know.
“Why do you wear shades when it’s so dark out?” You ask. The question has been bugging you.
“It helps with my headaches.” He reveals. “Hopefully it doesn’t make me look like a pervert.”
“You’re lucky you’re handsome because if you weren’t people would call you all sorts of names.” You giggle, and he laughs in response.
“You know, you’re also very pretty.” He tells you once laughter subsides. You don’t understand why your face gets so warm all of a sudden. Or well, you do. He’s very attractive and you weren’t expecting to hear that from him. “Very beautiful. The prettiest girl I’ve ever seen.”
“You’re so sweet, thank you.” You smile at him, slightly tilting your head. It makes his heart skip a beat, and he swears that he’s gone insane because he met you just now. But he’s not alone because you feel the same way.
This isn’t what you planned for your night, but you like this way better. He makes great company. You like being outside on this cool autumn night better than being cramped up in that apartment with people you can barely stand.
“Do you live here?” You ask him and he hums in response.
“I travel a lot though.” He says. “It’s fun though.”
“Yeah I can imagine.” You comment. You get up from the swing and he does the same, ready to follow your every step. It’s like you’re stuck with each other for the night.
“What made you want to major in education?” He asks, hoping that if he keeps the conversation going that you won’t leave. The reason you stood up was because the swing was uncomfortable, but he didn’t seem to notice that.
“I like kids and I think they’re our future so I want to teach them, and hopefully inspire them to be a better person.” You share as you walk over to the bench and take a seat there. He sits down next to you.
“That’s really nice. I wish I could’ve figured out what I liked and decided that’s what I wanted to do.” He tells you and you raise your eyebrow as you look at him.
“What do you do?” You question and he shakes his head. It doesn’t matter. He doesn’t know how a simple shake of his head worries you so much. But you hope it’s nothing more than overreaction. You’re sure it’s just unnecessary thoughts invading your mind because he’s friends with Daisuke who’s a great person. “What? Are you a pornstar or something?”
“No!” He quickly tells you, his cheeks quickly turning pink as he thinks of that. “I just work a boring corporate job.”
You assume he has a high position or something of that sort, considering he said he traveled a lot. But what position if he doesn’t have any further education? Or maybe he’s a genius that happened to go to college before anyone else. That or he has connections. There’s so many possibilities and you don’t dare question anything.
“If I ever win the lottery and I’m so rich then you can quit your corporate job and I’ll help you pursue your dream.” You say, which surprisingly enough causes a weak smile to appear on his lips.
“Thank you.” He answers. It’s weird to hear from a complete stranger that they’d help you pursue your dream if they had the means. “I’m not even sure what my dream is anyway.”
“Understandable.” You reply. “I hate how you’re expected to just figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life when you’re so young.”
“And I hate how the world just… predetermines what you’re going to be and do in life.” He sighs.
“Really? Do you think that?” You respond, and he nods.
“Everything is already determined.” He says.
“Then where are you determined to be?” You ask. “Where are you going to be in ten years?”
“Alone. Just alone.” He tells you.
“I think that’s dumb. If our destinies are already decided then I don’t think we would have free will.” You share. “You always have the option to choose. You rejected Leiko because you didn’t want to be with her, not because it was determined.”
“How would you know?”
“Hmm… I have the option to kiss you right now but I’m choosing not to.”
“That’s how you know you don’t have free will because why are you passing up the opportunity to kiss me?” His voice is laced with cockyness, and for some reason you love it. You playfully roll your eyes at him before grabbing the collar of his shirt and pulling him in for a kiss.
His lips feel so soft on yours. Softer than you were imagining while staring. His hands land on the back of your head as his tongue invades your mouth. His tongue presses against yours, and while you don’t want to let go, your mind is telling you to stop because this kiss is going to lead to much more.
But you chose to kiss him and you’re going to continue. He’s the one that puts a stop to things. He pulls away, pressing his forehead against yours. “As much as I enjoy that, I won’t be able to control myself if we continue.”
“Let’s continue.” Your voice is low as you speak. Your eyes have been consumed by a look filled with lust. Satoru doesn’t notice it because it’s in his eyes too. “Let’s go to my place.”
“Mine is just around the corner.” He informs you. You both get up. He grabs your hand and begins to lead you to his place. You both walk in a rush knowing what’s waiting for you when you get to his apartment.
This wasn’t what you were planning for the night. But you wouldn’t have it any other way. Him undressing you so desperately when you get to his apartment. Laying on his bed and him kissing down your body when you’re just in your underwear.
“Satoru-” You moan as he sucks on your neck while his hand reaches behind to unclasp your bra.He slides it off and throws it across the room. He kisses down your neck to your chest, wrapping his mouth around your nipple and sucking. You bite down your bottom lip and close your eyes.
He goes to the other and he rolls his tongue around. He doesn’t spend too much time on your tits. He kisses down your torso, until he reaches your lower abdomen. He pulls down your panties with his teeth. He manages to take them off before kissing your inner thighs.
He’s stopping himself from tasting the sweetest part of the cake. He’s afraid of getting addicted and not being able to let go. He’s always been a fan of candy after all, and he’s afraid of this being his favorite.
You’re eager and can’t wait for him. With every kiss of his hot lips it feels like you melt inside. It feels like something you’ve been needing. And for a moment you think about destiny and how maybe he’s right because laying on his bed feels so right. Nothing has ever felt so right before.
“Satoru, please…” You sound pathetic. But it works. He kisses your clit before he begins to lick between your folds. A pitiful moan leaves your lips once he begins to eat you out.
He was right. It’s so sweet on his tongue. The best candy he’s ever had. Definitely something addicting, and he hopes that he won’t be dependent on it after only having it once.
He begins to suck on your clit while two fingers gather your slick. He pushes those fingers in, and a loud moan leaves your lips. His fingers are just so long and thick. You had noticed them earlier but you didn’t think they would feel this good inside you.
“Fuck-” He curves his fingers just right and moves them at the right speed. And his mouth on your clit just feels heavenly. Maybe this wasn’t how you were planning your night to end, but it’s certainly better than anything you were imagining.
He hums as you loudly moan into the air. He’s enjoying this so much. He’s watched this hundreds of times in pornos, and while he knew it was such a great enjoyment for the woman, he never knew how great it could be for him. And he’s thinking he’s enjoying it more than you since he has a sweet tooth but he doesn’t know how badly you’re loving it.
“That’s it-” You tell him, your hand landing on his head, and without meaning to, grabbing a fistful of his hair. His tongue is too busy for him to complain. He barely notices it anyway.
His fingers move just right. The speed still matches his tongue, which you couldn’t be more glad about because it’s perfect. Your mind gets clouded, and soon all thought process leave your body. You can’t think of anything, just how great he’s making you feel with his tongue and his fingers.
“Satoru!” You moan, and he loves the way it sounds from you. He’s always loved his name but he loves it even more when it comes from your moans. And you don’t stop saying his name. As your first orgasm of the night approaches, you repeat his name over and over again. You say it louder each time until you see why, your legs spasming as you reach your high.
He takes his fingers out and gives a couple more kitten licks to your cunt before detaching himself. He’s on top of you again, kissing your lips. Your tongues press around each other while your hands go under his shirt, feeling his body. You find it unfair how you’re naked while he’s fully clothed. You pull away from the kiss.
“What do you want?” He asks.
“Get naked.” You tell him which causes him to chuckle. He gets off the bed and takes off his shirt. You sit up to look at him and notice the scar across his chest which makes you beyond curious but you don’t question it. You lick your lips as he unbuckles his belt and unbuttons his pants. You wait so eagerly for him to finally push down his pants. And when he does, you’re certainly surprised.
“So what do you want to do?” He questions and you blink, tilting your head. “Do you want to suck it first or…”
“Fuck me.” You answer. That’s all you can think about at the moment. He laughs. You lay your head back down and you feel him lift up your legs, throwing them over his shoulders.
He grabs his cock and runs the tip through your folds. He presses the tip against your clit, and when the softest whine leaves your lips, he smirks. He slaps the tip gently on your cunt a couple of times before going lower.
“Do you want it?” He asks.
“Yes.” You sound eager. Desperate as well. You want it so bad and you’re not in the mood for teasing.
“Really bad?” He continues.
“So so so bad. Please.” You don’t waste your time fighting it. You beg because you want it so bad. And he loves your response. “Please put it in, Satoru.”
He does as you wish and his cock slowly enters your cunt. You have to close your eyes because sure his fingers were thick and long but not like his dick. Satoru is cursing under his breath, loving the way your cunt wraps around him.
“You’re s-so fucking tight.” He says once he bottoms out. He gives it a minute before beginning to move slowly. Before you weren’t moaning as loud as you are now. He’s barely even moving, but it just feels so fucking good.
You’re touch deprived, but you’ve also never had someone as thick and long as Satoru before. And it’s nice to see how much he’s enjoying it, at least from your point of view. He bites his bottom lip as he looks down at how his cock disappears inside of you.
Not only do you feel so good and taste so sweet, but the noises that leave your lips sound like music to his ears. If it were up to him, you’d be locked up with each other each day and night just fucking each other. Sick and twisted thoughts are the only ones that go through his mind, but how could he not? Not only are you beautiful but you feel so fucking good around him.
His thrusts pick up speed, and your hand moves down to play with your clit while he focuses on regulating his breath. And not finishing so soon. The latter seems so difficult, you’re just so nice and warm around him.
This wasn’t how he planned his night to end, but he doesn’t mind at all. He loves this more than any other possibility.
“It’s so good-” You moan, your orgasm building up with each and everyone one of his thrusts. You look at him, his head is now thrown back and he bites his bottom lip. The room is poorly illuminated but you know he’s blushing.
You get tighter around him as your orgasm approaches. He goes fast, his release also nearing.
You finish first, loudly moaning as your legs shake. He’s so close as well, thrusts getting sloppy, thinking about finishing in your sweet cunt. He loudly groans before finishing inside you.
You should be worried when you feel his warm cum inside you considering you’re not on birth control. But you’re thinking about him as he lets go of your legs and lays down besides you.
You both catch your breaths for a minute or so. You should come to your senses and leave but your libido is high and all you can think about is getting on top of him and going for a second round. You let him rest for a couple minutes though.
“I wanna go again.” You tell him as you sit down on his torso. He lets out a chuckle, it’s like you’ve read his mind.
“Go ahead, princess.” He responds. You grab his cock and align your entrance with it. Both your cum and his’ serve as lubrication as you lower yourself on his length.
Once it’s fully in, you move back and forth on his cock. Your eyes nearly roll to the back of your head as his cock repeatedly hits your g-spot.
Satoru focuses on your beautiful face, taking in every single detail about it. You look so alluring with your messed up makeup. It was barely noticeable but now you have some mascara running down your cheeks. You’re covered in sweat as well, which he is too.
“Your cock’s so good.” You say, now bouncing on his cock. His hands land on your hips and he holds onto you while you move up and down on his length.
He lets you do most of the work yourself. Except he begins to play with your clit. And that works wonders because you begin to squeeze around him, and he’s nearly in heaven– again.
He was worried about getting addicted earlier, but that worry is long gone. He already is and it’s his first time trying. What’s the point of fighting it when he can just succumb to the pleasure.
“Shit.” You’re breathless, about to orgasm again. You shut your eyes as you see white for the third time in the night, and when he feels it, he takes over and begins to move his hips. You’re so fucking tight around him, it won’t take him long to finish fast as well.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck-” He curses as he comes inside you again. Once every drop is inside you, he slides his cock out.
You lay down on him, your head on his chest. He wraps his arms around you as you both regulate your breaths.
He’s just a stranger yet you have never felt this safe before. You hear the sound of his breathing, and it’s so calming. You feel tranquil as he holds on to you.
Maybe you’re just lonely, or maybe there was something in those cupcakes but at the moment you know you’re happy. Safe in his arms. And it’s foolish but you start planning out your future with a complete stranger because he doesn’t feel like a stranger. He feels like a lifelong friend, a lover.
It isn’t his words that determine that, it’s what he radiates. You’ve never felt like this before around anyone. Not even people that you’ve known all your life.
“It feels like I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life.” Satoru speaks up, his hand caressing your back.
“Me too.” You respond. Your finger begins to trace lazy circles on his chest.
For a moment you think about your conversation from earlier in the night and you think that if it’s true that everything is already determined, then you hope you’re determined to be with him. You doubt you will find anyone that’ll make you feel like this again in so little time.
You lift your head up and peck his lips, your hand going down to wrap itself around his cock. Satoru doesn’t need to be told twice.
-
The rays of the sun enter the room and shine directly on you. You try to block it out at first, taking the pillow and putting it over your head, which works. But you gain consciousness quickly and remember that you always sleep with your curtain closing, blocking any sunshine from entering the room. You take the pillow off and look around the room, which isn’t yours.
The moment you sit up on the bed, you remember the events from the previous night. You look down at your exposed chest and bring the bed sheet up to cover it, before studying the bare room. It’s almost as if no one lives here.
And you think about it, and maybe he doesn’t. It was just a spot he knew and he took you here. You feel like a fool. Your face gets warm of embarrassment just thinking about how easily he tricked you. You thought you two actually made some sort of connection, especially with the way you both fell asleep so easily in each other’s arms.
However that embarrassed feeling goes away when he walks into the room. He wears a black shirt and some gray sweatpants.
He takes a look at you, and it’s almost as if he tears his eyes away from you. He awkwardly bites his bottom lip before clearing his throat to speak. “How are you feeling?”
“Just a bit sore.” You respond. He looks at you and tears his eyes away again. You’re glowing and he can’t absorb much of that.
“When are you leaving?” He asks. You feel your heart drop but you try not to show it. Maybe it’s just your overthinking.
“Do you want me to leave?”
“I think it’s best if you do.” He tells you. You inhale and hold your breath, looking down at the bedsheets before you nod. “I’m sorry. What happened last night was a mistake. It should’ve never happened. I don’t know what came over me. Sorry for deceiving you.”
The words from last night were just empty words… But they felt so real. You sigh.
“Please leave so I can put on some clothes.”
-
Time passes normally, and you try to forget about Satoru. While your life isn’t ruined and your heart isn’t broken, but you just keep thinking about him. About destiny. And maybe he was right, maybe he is determined to be alone just like he said.
Over a month passes and you focus on your studies, on your work, on anything else. You don’t care to search for a relationship. Kaya tries to get you to get out but you refuse, especially after the events of last time.
Kaya knew something was up the morning after your night with Satoru, but you convinced her nothing happened. And ever since she has been insufferable about you getting into a relationship.
“Have you looked at Ryo? He’s definitely your type.” Kaya says as she chops some onions for the food that she’s making. You ignore her, playing a game on your phone. She babbles about him while you focus on winning until you smell the food that she’s making.
“What the fuck are you making?” You ask her, putting your hand over your mouth. You stand up and run to the bathroom.
“Hey, are you okay?!” Kaya yells, and she runs after you with a glass of water in hand. Once you finish vomiting, you stand up and take the glass of water from her hand and drink most of it. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say you were pregnant.”
Your eyes widen for a second or so, thinking of the possibility that you are. But there’s no way. It’s just exams stressing you out. There’s absolutely no way.
But she noticed your reaction and now she questions it, “There’s no way you are, right? You haven’t been intimate with anyone.”
“Actually… Over a month ago.”
“You used a condom, right? Any type of birth control?” She asks and you shake your head.
“Just a Plan B the morning after.” You answer and she gasps, putting her hand over her mouth.
“You know that those aren’t that effective. Those only stop ovulation.” She informs you. You begin to freak out, your face getting hot just thinking about this all. She opens one of the sink’s drawers and pulls out a pregnancy test, giving it to you. She walks out of the bathroom, leaving you alone to do this.
You stare at the box, your hand shaking, thinking that the results can possibly affect your future. You sigh and open the box, first reading the instructions before taking the test. Your hands won’t stop shaking.
You put the test down on the sink’s counter. Three minutes feel like an eternity. For those three minutes you think about all the possible outcomes that can happen with the test coming back negative. Then all the possible outcomes if the test comes out positive.
“What are the results?” You hear Kaya outside the bathroom, and you can’t even bring yourself to pick up the test from the counter to flip it over. Your hands won’t stop shaking, and you feel as if you’re about to collapse at any moment. Your hands hold on to the sink for support, or else you might fall over.
“I- I can’t do it.” You mutter. You have to take a deep breath. Ignoring the test won’t stop reality, but it spares your feelings for a minute. It keeps your world together for a minute. For another minute. Then your world will fall apart. “Fuck.”
You finally grab the test and your hands are shaking. You might drop it at any moment. You flip it over and you shut your eyes because you don’t want to read the result. For another minute. Then you open them and read the results. Ones that you have been dreading. And immediately you put it down and hold on to the sink. You sigh.
“I’m pregnant.” You mutter. “I’m pregnant. Fuck.”
You fall down on the ground and bury your face into your hands, immediately letting out a sob. You’re still so young, with a bright future ahead of you, and having a baby won’t make it ideal.
“What are the res-” Kaya barges into the bathroom, only to find you on the floor, crying your heart out. That tells her everything she needs to know. She sits down besides you, unsure of what to do. She wraps her arm around you, trying to hug you. “It’s going to be okay.”
She attempts to reassure you but it doesn’t work. At the moment, your world is crumbling into pieces. You’re still so young, and you can’t do this alone. No, this isn’t something you wanted. You don’t want this. A baby when you’re freshly 20 is the last thing you need. And the father of the baby– he’d want nothing to do with this for sure. Satoru Gojo described his night with you as a “mistake” and something that should’ve never happened, so you doubt that he’d want this.
20 year old Satoru Gojo will most definitely tell you to get an abortion. And maybe you’ll do the procedure without telling him anything because what he doesn’t know doesn’t affect him. That’s all you can think about. It’s not like you and Satoru will ever cross paths again.
“When are you going to tell him?” Kaya asks and you can’t help but shake your head. You’re not going to tell him.
“I’m not.” You respond and she furrows her eyebrows. She doesn’t know what to say to that. She wants to give you her undeniable support in each step but she also believes that the father should know.
“Why don’t you want to tell him?” She questions, hoping that your response will put her at ease. She’s scared that you won’t give her a valid reason and she’ll stay quiet, the weight of the secret weighing on her conscience for the rest of her life.
“Kaya, I- I just don’t know what to do.” You sob, and she comforts you. You calm down and tell her, “I know he’s not going to want this.”
“But what do you want?” She asks. You cry into your hands because you don’t know what you want. “Whatever you do, I’ll support you. Even if I have to keep it a secret from everyone else. I’m by your side, always.”

Million Dollar Man - Rui Kamishiro
x fem!reader
-> in which you find yourself saved by Rui pretending to be your boyfriend...
notes: yes, there will be a part two ;)
Tumblr media
It started off with innocent glances that you could only pass off as observing. It hadn’t bothered you that someone seemed to occupy their eyes on you as it felt harmless. A man across the room was swirling his glass around in his hand, watching as the liquid topples around the sides, while having his gaze linger on you.
Tsukasa had invited the troupe to his after-party with his acting class to celebrate a great show, and naturally, you got to come along. At this point it felt as if you were an honorary member, occasionally helping to polish off scripts and brainstorm plots with their director, but you weren’t much of an actor yourself. The troupe mingles amongst themselves until Rui branches off first, choosing to make conversation with one of the professionals to gain some insight into his own skills. Nene clings to your side knowing you aren’t the type to butt into a conversation like the others. You accept a beverage generously offered by the class and are pleased to find it’s tart cherry sparkling water.
“If Tsukasa wasn’t having the time of his life with his classmates I think I would go congratulate him,” You speak to Nene first, breaking the slightly awkward silence between the two of you.
“He’ll come around eventually,” She replies, “he can never get too much attention.”
You laugh lightly and drink more of the water, the aftertaste leaving you thirsty from the tartness. It felt wrong to be standing silent in the middle of the room, or maybe it was the social anxiety creeping up to make you question yourself.
“Should we introduce ourselves around? Join one of the others?”
Emu seemed to be having the time of her life. The girl was laughing with the actor who starred as Wendy and appeared to be doing fine on her own. Rui looked intrigued by his conversation with an older, wise-looking man. No doubt he was gaining critical information he could use for the next performance.
“I’m going to head to the restrooms,” Nene announces and points down the hallway.
“I’ll wait.”
She seemed pleased by your words and offered a small smile and nod before departing. Staying true to your word, you stayed put and occasionally sipped on the beverage until the glass was empty. You make a mental note to grab a refill before everyone leaves.
“What is a fine girl like you doing alone in a place like this?”
You flinch slightly, not expecting a deep voice to be right next to your ear. Nonetheless, you keep your cool appearance and turn around, not entirely surprised to see your not-so-secret admirer from earlier. Choosing to ignore his rather sexual comments, you take a steady step back to gain some distance.
“I’m with my friends, actually. One of them was in the play.”
“I don’t see anyone with ya. I won’t abandon ya like they did.”
His smirk is lopsided in a dark way, a grin full of malice. Alarms immediately set off in your body, but it wasn’t like you could do much against him, and he knew that. Your eyes search and search but you’ve lost sight of Rui, and you can’t exactly turn around to quickly spot the others.
Where is Nene? Can’t she hurry up just this once?
“I’m not interest, sorry.”
Apologizing made you feel icky inside, but it’s best to seem polite and not to provoke a man like him.
“Oh come on. What are you, a student?”
Lie.
“A graduate.” You say curtly.
“I don’t believe that.”
You want to crawl into a hole and die to cleanse yourself of the ick this man gives you. He senses your unease and knows that he has the advantage.
Where did everyone go?
“Why don’t we…” He steps closer, a smell of cigarettes and alcoholic makes you almost gag, “have some fun?”
“I’m–” You swallow.
“Ah, dearest! There you are,” A firm hand wraps around your waist and pulls you close. “I was wondering where you had run off to.”
A flood of sweet vanilla fills your nostrils and easily combats the foul scent of the creep. The moment the scent settled you knew who it was and calmed down.
Is this the game we’re playing? You shoot the question silently with a pointing gaze. His cheshire smile says enough.
“I was waiting for our friend,” You don’t dare say her name, just in case. “She should be on her way back anytime now.”
Rui nods in understanding and turns his attention to the creep. His gaze locks, his eyes narrow, and if looks could kill, the creep would be in the deepest pit of hell.
“Have a kick out of making my girl uncomfortable during a celebration as lively as this?”
You hate to admit it, but hearing that term of endearment stirs something inside of you. Was it adoration? Gratefulness? It couldn’t possible be anything more, now that would be troublesome, wouldn’t it?
“She’s yours? I’m sorry, didn’t know, dude.”
A look of disgust crosses your friend’s face before the creep’s words even burn into your mind.
“She isn’t just an object to lay claim to,” His grip on your waist tightens, and you don’t think he even realizes. “She’s her own person. A smart, independent, and fucking capable woman.”
Damn. If you hadn’t had any sort of feelings for Rui before, you certainly do now. No one has defended you with such passion and demand before. It felt nice. Validating.
“You–” The creep points a finger and tries to step closer to the two of you, but Rui is quick to shut that attempt down. He pulls you slightly behind him, and by now the attention of others has been attracted.
“I suggest you stand down,” Rui smirks and plays with a pen he had been holding to take notes in his pocket notebook. He always insisted on bringing it wherever because 'you never know when inspiration may strike'. “Wouldn’t want to cause a scene now would we?”
The creep grumbles and contemplates his options. It wasn’t looking good for him, and the troupe had gathered behind you and Rui to back him away even more. He seems to decide you weren’t worth the wrath of the man protecting you and backs away, leaving the venue with a pissed off attitude.
“You’re okay?” Rui’s persona switches around completely. His once malicious-laced words are now soft and cushion any hurt that creep may have inflicted.
“I’m okay.”
He smiles and his hand draws back. Your waist feels oddly cold now. And just like that, everything goes back to normal.

AN: I just want to make a quick note! I would like to try and have a new part posted on Saturday’s. I can’t promise that it will be updated every Saturday, but just know that I put a lot of thought and work into this. Hence why it may take a little longer than normal. I also work 3rd shift so I try and write in my free time as much as I can. Thank you all for being so patient and understanding❤️
March 2014
It had been a month since the dance, and since Josh and you had officially become a couple. Throughout the month, Josh has been nothing but sweet. Leaving you little notes in your locker, doing the same in return. It was hard only having one class together, so you were only able to see each other during lunch and poetry.
You spent most weeknights together and spent every weekend together - whether you were at his place, or he came over to your house. You had been helping him more on his film as it finally completed and you both were getting ready to present it to everyone you cared deeply about.
“Sunshine! Can you hand me the hard drive please?” He turned towards you, as you grabbed the hard drive, placing it in his hand.
“This film came out really well Josh.” You smiled softly, kissing his cheek.
“Couldn’t have done it without your help mama.”A blush crept on his face as he chuckled softly.
“So my family is going to come over Friday night to watch the film with all of us.” You smiled nervously.
Your dad always thought the film dream you had was silly, but you truly had a passion for it like Josh had. And it often resulted in arguments with your father. You had applied to different colleges for a filming and photography degree. With Josh’s help of course, he had applied to most of the colleges you did too.
“Has your dad said anything…” He trailed off, unsure about how to go with the conversation.
“Well we didn’t argue if that’s what you’re trying to ask.”
He stood up wrapping his arms around you in a hug. “He’ll eventually see how important film is to you. You’re going to be amazing.” He smiled, kissing your lips softly.
You kissed him back, then pulled away slowly hugging him tightly before parting away.
“Come on, we should probably head out to the garage. Jake wants to get another practice in order to be ready for Saturday’s gig.” He rubbed your arm.
You nodded, following behind him out to the garage. You opted on sitting on the couch, sitting next to Valerie - the girl Jake had recently started going steady with.
“Hey!” You smiled softly at her,
“Hey Y/N! Are you excited for Saturday?” She shifted her attention towards you.
“Yeah, this will be the first gig I see them perform. It’ll be a very different atmosphere.” You rubbed your hands together.
You and Val had sat there watching the guys play a couple songs from their setlist they had made up. Josh always made you proud no matter what he did, but seeing him perform with his brothers was something else.
Tumblr media
The week had gone by, and Friday was here already. Your poetry class felt longer than usual today, Josh and yourself sat in the back of the classroom. Mr.Zawalski had wanted to finish the film Beowulf, so you and Josh decided to just watch the film as you wrote notes back and forth to each other.
Is your family still planning on joining us tonight?
Yeah, but my dad has been in a mood the past few days. :(
It’s okay, he’ll open up eventually. I think this film will show him. :)
I’m just glad I have your support <3
Of course Sunny, always <3
Then Mr.Zawalski turned the lights on in the classroom, causing everyone to groan from the harsh lighting adjustment. You folded your note between you and Josh stashing it into your folder.
“Do you want a ride home?” He smiled at you,
“If it’s not an issue, I don’t want Jake getting his panties in a bunch like the other week.” You giggled remembering them bickering about practice.
“He can suck it. I just don’t want my baby to ride the bus.” He smiled, wrapping an arm around your shoulder, walking over to your locker to gather your things to head home.
“Josh…”
“What’s the matter Sunny?”
You melted at his nickname for you. It always drove you crazy, no matter what.
“I just. I’m really worried about my dad’s reaction. Especially because I think I’ve decided on where to go for college…” You walked out to his car with him, Jake hadn’t gotten to the car yet.
“I know how much his support means to you Y/N… And I want you to know that you will not disappoint him. Just show him how much this means to you.” He rubbed your shoulders.
“And you not only have your mom and sister’s support, but you have mine, the guys, my sister and even my parents.” He chuckled softly, caressing your cheek.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m making the wrong choices…” You put your head down in his hand.
He lifts your face up to meet his gaze. He pushes a piece of your hair behind your ear.
“Sunshine, you’re not making the wrong choices. You’re following your heart. And that is most important.”
He smiled, leaning forward and placing his lips against yours softly.
“Can we go?”
You two pulled away to see the voice coming from Jake, leaned up against the car chuckling softly as he watched the scene in front of him.
You blushed and nodded, getting into the passenger seat. While Jake sat in the back and Josh got in the driver's side.
Josh then dropped you off at home, after reassuring him you would be at his house later to watch the film you both worked on. Walking into the house, you could hear the television playing the news as your father sits in his normal spot on the couch, staring at the tv intently. Your mother on the other hand was finishing up the days work of cleaning the house, while your sister sat in the living room doing her homework while trying to ignore the sounds of the tv.
Walking into the mud room you set your things down, taking your shoes off and walking into the living room sitting down.
“Hi pumpkin.” Your dad smiled at you softly.
“Hi dad, how was your day?” You smiled bringing your knees up to your chest wrapping your arms around them.
“Oh it was good, how was your day?” He turned the volume of the TV down.
“It was good…” You smiled softly,
“What time must we be at the Kiszka’s tonight?”
“Josh wants to start the film at 7. It’s about an hour long…” You chewed the inside of your cheek nervously.
“An hour? Wow… I’m impressed.” Your father replied in a sarcastic tone.
“Yeah. It was going to only be a 30 minute film. But Josh had insisted on using an idea of mine to the film and extend it.” You placed your feet, getting ready to stand.
“Pumpkin… I just. I don’t know-“
“Honey! Someone is on the phone for you.” Your mom yelled for your dad, giving you the chance to leave the room.
You felt tears at the brim of your eyes. You had decided to take a shower, to make yourself feel somewhat better and get ready for tonight.
Tumblr media
It was around quarter to 7 and your family was ready to head over to Josh’s. You had packed a small bag, considering you would be staying the night to help the guys tomorrow for their gig.
Your sister and yourself got in the back of you dad’s pick up, as your mom got into the passenger side. Your dad drove off to make the way to the Kiszka’s.
Upon arriving your dad had gotten out, helping your mom out of the truck while you and your sister followed behind them. Your father knocked on the door, and Kelly had answered it. “Hey! Welcome, come on in. Karen is finishing up making drinks and getting popcorn ready.” He motioned for everyone to file in.
You had immediately made way to Ronnie’s room setting your bag in there to make your parents aware you would in fact not be staying in Josh’s room tonight. Not that it would matter, since you would be sleeping in the basement anyways.
Walking out of Ronnie’s room you ran into Josh - making him fall back a couple of inches from the sudden impact.
“Oh, sunny. You scared me.” He chuckled, clenching his chest.
“I’m sorry Joshy…” You giggled, grabbing his hand rubbing circles.
“It’s okay mama.” He smiled, kissing your cheek.
“Josh… I don’t think he’s going to like it. He was ready to go on about how film isn’t a good career choice…” You sighed.
“Y/N. You are going to be amazing. Don’t let one person’s judgment dictate your dream.”
He caressed your cheek looking into your eyes - giving you one of his most reassuring smiles he could muster.
“If anything, only you can judge your choices. No one else.”
“Thank you… Thank you for being so understanding about everything.” You sighed feeling a little bit of relief, grabbing the hand that rested on your cheek, squeezing it gently.
“Now come on, we have a film to show.” He giggled dragging you downstairs to the living room with him.
You opted to sit on the loveseat with Josh, while your parents sat on the big couch with Karen and Kelly. Everyone else made themselves comfy on the floor or pulled a folding chair from the closet.
Josh had held your hand the entire time while the film played. Rubbing circles into your hand to keep you calm as he could tell you were tense from what your father would think of your work.
Once the film had finished everyone in the room was cheering and clapping on the film. You smiled, hugging Josh tightly.
“My god, you kids are going places!” Karen shot up from the couch hugging both you and Josh.
“Thank you mom.” Josh smiled at her,
“Thank you Mrs. Kiszka. It means a lot.” You smiled softly, looking over her shoulder to see your parents making their way.
“Sweetie, you are absolutely brilliant. Amazing work to both of you.” Your mom smiled, pulling you and Josh in for a hug.
“I’m proud of you pumpkin. You as well Josh.” He smiled, sticking his hand out to shake Josh’s hand.
The two of them shake each other’s hands smiling back at one another. Kelly had chimed in congratulating the two of you on your work. Then you had walked your family out to the truck to say goodnight before heading back into Josh’s.
“Thank you guys for coming and watching it. It really means a lot to me.” You smiled softly.
“Sweetie, you will always have our support. No matter what!” Your mom kissed your cheek, hugging you tightly.
“I still think you should reconsider your major…” You dad put out flatly, giving you a deadpan look to show that he wasn’t budging about this matter.
“Dad…” You groan,
“Y/N… I just. I want you to be realistic here. How many directors or filmmakers are successful right away?”
“Just say you don’t believe in me dad. It would hurt a lot less…” You felt the tears forming in your eyes.
“It’s not that I don’t be-“
“Really! Cause it sure seems like it… All my life I was trying to figure out who I truly am and what I want to do with my life. And the moment I do, it's not good enough for you! I’ve always done everything to make you happy dad, it’s my time to do what makes me happy…” You spit out at your father as you wiped the tears away that spilled out of your eyes.
“Y/N, we will continue this discussion at another time.” He said sternly.
“No, I’m tired of discussing this. I’ve made up my mind of what I’m doing with my life. Whether I have your support or not…” You turned on your heels,
“I’ll be home Sunday afternoon…” You then walked into Josh’s house shutting the door behind you.
Running to the guest bathroom, locking yourself in there quietly crying to yourself - until you heard a soft knock.
“Sunshine…”
“I’ll be out in a minute…” You sighed softly.
“I’ll get us some hot chocolate, okay?” He said through the door.
“Okay…”
You heard him shuffle away, as you turned to look at yourself in the mirror - wiping away the tears that were there. You resituated yourself making your way to the kitchen.
“You okay mama?” Josh was finishing up making the two of you hot chocolate.
You nodded, “I’ll be okay.” You smiled at him as he handed you a mug.
“You can talk about it whenever you want. Not now, but whenever you’re ready.” He smiled and kissed your forehead softly.

Morning came pretty quickly, and was filled with absolute chaos. The guys ran around making sure they had everything they needed for tonight's gig. Going over setlists, and making sure everyone’s gear was in tip top shape.
“Jake everything is loaded up. It’s going to be fine!” Josh pinched the bridge of his nose.
“You don’t tell me that everything is going to be fine. This is the first real gig we have! This is the start. This is my dream!” He yelled at him.
“Really Jacob? It’s not just your dream.” He threw his hands up,
“I didn’t mean it like that…” He sighed,
“I understand how important this is to you Jake. I really do. But you need to loosen up, being all tense and worried doesn’t make things better for yourself.” He patted his shoulder.
“You’re right, I’m sorry… It’s just. I don’t want this to affect how we go about this road…” He rubbed his face.
“If it makes you feel any better, Val will be there!” You chimed in, smiling softly.
Jake chuckled, nodding his head. “Yeah, that does…”
You smiled softly, dragging Josh with you. “Listen, I know you guys are going to be amazing tonight. And you’re going to kill it!”
Josh smiled as a blush crept up on his face. “Thank you, sunny…”
“Anytime Joshy…” You giggled, kissing his lips softly.
Tumblr media
Jake suggested he drive over to Fischer Hall, while Val sat in the front and you and Josh sat in the back. Sam and Danny had rode over with Kelly and Karen, with Danny’s parents to follow them.
You all arrived about an hour before they would start so they had time to set up, and get everything in tune before the show started for them.
After everyone was settled, people had started to come into the small venue. You offered smiles to the guys.
“You guys are going to be great.” You hugged them all, then once you made it to Josh a blush crept onto your cheeks.
“You guys act like you never kiss in front of us…” Sam started laughing with Danny.
“Shut it Sammy.” Josh snipped at him, then turned towards you smiling, kissing your lips softly. You kissed him back then pulled away.
“Break a leg handsome.” You giggled softly.
Josh chuckled and went with the guys onto the stage. They lit the room up with their presence making everyone cheer them on.
You sat by the parents with Val - cheering the guys on with them.
After they performed a couple songs they finished their small set. Getting a great response afterwards makes your smile widen. You saw Josh coming over to you all flustered.
“That was amazing!” You giggled.
“It was exhilarating.” He chuckled, “Let me help the guys clean up and we can get out of here.” He smiled and ran off to help the guys.
April 2014
The twins' birthday was coming up on Wednesday. But Karen wanted to throw them a party this weekend, since they were turning 18. She had stressed how important it was that her babies have a great party, and one to remember. You have been helping out in any way.
It was hard to keep it a secret from Josh, you hated to keep secrets. But this one was just for a surprise party - so one secret wouldn’t hurt.
It was Tuesday the day before the twins' 18th birthday. Josh has been completely asking you all the questions about what you had planned. And of course you had to tell him he would have to wait and see.
“But sunny…” He groaned, walking to your locker with you.
“No ‘buts’ Josh. I’m not saying another word about your birthday.”
You opened your locker, seeing a bouquet of flowers and a note - blushing, you picked up the note reading….
To my sunshine, will you go to prom with me?
You turned to Josh, “Yes.”
He smiled, pulling you in for a hug kissing your lips.
“I know it's a month away… And I should’ve asked sooner.”
You stopped him, “Josh, it’s okay. I’ve had my dress since the beginning of the month.” You giggled softly.
“Oh, okay… I guess that's some relief.” He laughed nervously.
“And I think my mom may have already sent your mom what I was wearing. So I think they already had an idea that we would be going together.” You shook your head at their antics.
“I’m glad they’re ahead of it.” He kissed your cheek.
“I’ll see you later mama.” He winked and made his way to his morning class.

It was finally Josh and Jake’s birthday, you all decided on skipping school and going on a hike. Classes lately haven't been filled with many lessons considering you graduate in the beginning of June. And missing a day wouldn’t hurt, you just wouldn’t let your parents find out.
You all made it look like you were heading to school, but changed route and went towards where the boys family lake house was. Once arriving you had gotten out of the car, looking at the house.
“She is something…” Josh came up beside you chuckling.
“I’ve never seen anything like it.”.
“We like to come up and get away… Helps us get creative, or just to clear our minds. But we spend most of our summer days here.” He rubbed your arm.
“Well, I’m sure it’s lovely. But I’d really like to get on this trail that Jake and you were talking about.” You kissed his cheek softly.
He shook his head and walked over to Jake grabbing his gear. You did the same, tightening your laces to your shoes, and putting your bag on your back.
“So how long is this trail exactly Jake?” You stood up, soaking in the fresh air.
“About 2 miles, so a 4 mile hike today.” He smirked at you.
“But the view is nice when we get to the end of the trail. See’s over the lake and everything.” Josh chimed in.
“You might just have to carry me on the way back down.” You giggled grabbing the small lunch bag.
They both started walking on the trail, following in between them. Jake played music from his bluetooth speaker. The trail was pretty flat for most of the first half, then the other half the trail got a bit uneven and mainly stones created a path.
You felt absolutely winded, it wasn’t exactly hot out. But the temperature today was enough to make you sweat from the hike. You were a little behind Jake and Josh, it's not like you grew up in an environment to partake in hiking trips. But you wanted to spend time with both of them.
“Y/N, you alright back there?” Jake turned around, smiling softly.
“I’m okay, this is just new for me. I’m not like you monkeys…” You giggled softly.
“We’re almost there, sunny.” Josh came down beside you, rubbing your back.
“Just drink some water.” He pulled out a water bottle and opened it for you.
“Thank you…” You smiled softly, taking a couple sips from the bottle, closing it up and following them the rest of the way.
Once you made it to the end of the trail, there was an overpass that looked over the lake. It was beautiful, Josh wasn’t lying.
You set your bag down pulling out the big blanket to set on the ground, and pulled out the sandwiches you made for them. Handing them out, they smiled and said their thanks munching away. You sat down eating away at yours.
After finishing your sandwiches you had pulled out a small cake that you somehow managed to fit in the cooler. You pulled it out putting some candles lighting them, walking over to the twins.
“Happy Birthday to you!” You giggled softly.
They both sat up smiling, then blew the candles out.
“Thank you, Y/N!” Jake smiled,
“Thank you, sunny.” Josh blushed smiling softly, he kissed your cheek.
“Of course! I don’t know what I’d do without you guys.” You sighed softly, setting the cake on top of the cooler, cutting slices up for them.
Jake then pulled out a joint that was pre-rolled. “Shall we?”
Josh nodded timidly, “That depends….did you actually get some good shit for once?”
“The shit that knocks you on your ass? Yes, yes I did.” Jake chuckled, lighting it up. He took a couple puffs before passing it along to Josh.
Josh took a couple hits, then passed it to you. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to.” He smiled softly.
“I do, I just… Never have…” You looked down ashamed of yourself.
“Hey, it’s alright. All you do is place it between your lips, inhale a little then exhale.” He handed you the joint.
You nodded your head, doing as he said. You exhaled, and coughed a good bit as Jake grabbed the joint from you.
“She’s a champ!” He chuckled softly, patting your shoulder.
“Woohoo sunny!” Josh smiled, kissing your cheek.

Saturday came, and you had opted to take Josh out for brunch to get him out of the house for his mom to set up for the party. Jake was already out with Val for the morning and early afternoon, making it easier for her to decorate the house.
“So what does Sunshine have planned for me today?” Josh chuckled as he buckled himself in the car.
“Brunch, maybe a little walk around downtown? And then cake at your place.” You smiled at him as you buckled yourself, putting the car in gear to drive.
Josh took over the aux in the car, immediately playing his playlist. He started off by playing John Denver’s Sunshine On My Shoulder. You gave him a look, shaking your head slowly.
“Oh come on sunny!” He grabbed your hand and kissed it softly.
“It’s a song I can dedicate to you now, until I write a good one about you…”
“You’ll write me a song…” You blushed,
“I’d write you a million…” He smiled softly, then began belting out to the song.
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high
If I had a day that I could give you
I’d give you a day just like today
If I had a song that I could sing for you
I’d sing a song to make you feel this way
The drive to downtown was nice and filled with laughter and singing. Josh’s voice always blew you away, he was just a beautiful person to be with.
You stopped by a local diner, heading in to sit at a booth. The two of you had ordered your favorites, and ate in bliss. Enjoying each other’s time with one another, after brunch. You two decided to walk around downtown. It was only 2pm and you have another hour and a half to kill before making your way back to the Kiszka’s.
While walking downtown Josh pointed out a record shop, pleading you to go in with him.
“Okay! But we can’t spend the whole day here.” You giggled as he was practically dragging you in.
He chuckled, walking into the store with you. It was a pretty big store with a wide collection to choose from.
You went to the disco section, immediately searching for a copy of ABBA’s self title. It was the only edition you needed to complete your collection. You had all their other pressings available, but every time you went searching you had no luck finding it.
And to your avail, there is no self title available. You sighed, looking over the rest of the selection of great disco vinyls.
“What’s wrong, sunny?” Josh came up behind you rubbing your arm.
“Still no luck in finding the self title of ABBA…” You groaned looking up at him.
“We’ll find it one day.” He chuckled softly, kissing the top of your head.
You nodded and made way to find a couple records for him, you had already had his gift wrapped up and in your car. But another gift of two wouldn’t be an issue, you thought to yourself as you grabbed two of what would definitely be Josh’s favorites.
You had checked out with a pressing of An Evening with John Denver and a pressing of Port of Morrow by The Shins. Josh had a very interesting music taste, and you loved that about him. He was always showing you different indie artists, as you showed him your favorite rock artists.
After having a successful shopping spree in the record shop, it was finally time to head back to the Kiszka’s.
“Come on Josh!” You smiled, watching him check out.
“So what did ya get?” Josh whispered in your ear, coming up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist. Holding you flush against his chest.
“You’ll see later.” You smiled softly, getting into the car and heading back to his place.
Tumblr media
When the two of you had arrived, Jake and Val had pulled up too. Perfect timing you thought to yourself. You gathered the small gifts you had for both Josh and Jake. Heading to the door with them.
You let the twins enter the house first, hearing everyone yell ‘Surprise!’ and ‘Happy Birthday!’ The twins chuckled, smiling softly at everyone present.
“Thank you everyone!” They said in unison.
You came in behind them with Val. “Did you know about this?” Josh asked you, smirking.
“I may have helped your mom…” You giggled softly.
For the next hour or two, everyone was socializing and eating. Karen knew how to make a feast for any special occasions. You truly enjoyed her cooking, in fact you found it better than your mothers.
You handed Jake his gift, allowing him to open it. He unwrapped it, revealing a Jimi Hendrix ‘Are You Experienced’ vinyl.
“Holy shit! Are you serious Y/N! Thank you!” He smiled and gave you a hug.
“It’s nothing, really.” You smiled softly, hugging him back.
“It’s not nothing! This is very thoughtful, thank you.” He then went back to sit next to Val opening her gift.
Josh then pulled you into the basement, away from everyone. You smiled, handing him his gifts sitting on the couch next to him.
“Happy Birthday, Joshy…” You blushed watching him go through the shopping bag from today’s finds.
“Sunshine! These are great!” He smiled, then went to grab the one that was wrapped.
“This one was a little bit harder to find… I’m not going to lie, but you kept talking about it. And I just had to deep dive…” You chewed your lip nervously.
His eyes lit up, as he tore the wrapping paper off. Revealing an original pressing of John Denver’s self title. Josh hadn’t been able to find a copy at all, and it was driving him nearly insane.
“Y/N… This…” He smiled looking at you, placing it on the table in front of the two of you.
He cupped your face in his hands kissing your lips softly.
“I love you…”
He said it. He said it first… You had been worried to have said it too soon, or too late. But, right now was the perfect time for it to have happened. You felt your stomach flutter from his words.
“I love you too…” You giggled, kissing his lips softly again.
May 2014
Prom was here. And to say you were stressed, was an understatement. You had recently completed your admission to Michigan State University after discussing with Josh your plans for the future. He was beyond excited for you and had also enrolled into Michigan State.
The two of you would be pursuing the same degree, therefore you would have pretty much the same courses. You were happy that you wouldn’t be completely alone at college, and that you would have someone you know there.
All morning you had been waiting to get your hair done, then your makeup to follow suit after your hair was done. Your mother was making sure everything for your senior prom was going smoothly. Even though you had reassured her multiple times that you were okay and everything was fine.
Hoping she isn’t like this for your wedding one day…
After leaving the salon, you headed back home to finish getting ready. All that was left was the dress. It was absolutely stunning - opting for a print color, you had decided on a sky blue gown.
It was strapless and flowed beautifully, though it wasn’t a ball gown, but it stood out from most dresses that were available for this prom season.
You slipped it on, then put your heels on. Looking at yourself in the mirror, putting on your necklace and earrings. Giving yourself a final touch up on your lipstick, then making your way down stairs.
Your mother was at the bottom of the steps, waiting for you to take you to the golf course where Josh and his family would meet you to take pictures together. You had wished Josh could’ve picked you up beforehand, but didn’t want to cause an argument.
As you were heading out the door, your father followed behind helping you into the car making sure your dress didn’t get caught in the door. You smiled buckling yourself, as your parents drove to the course.
Once you had arrived, you got out meeting Josh and his family. Along with Jake and Val’s family, it was a beautiful sunny day for prom. Most cases it had rained on prom for others in the past, but today it didn’t.
“You look extravagant sunshine!” Josh smiled, holding your hands in his kissing your cheek softly.
“You don’t look too bad yourself.” You giggled softly, then Karen came over handing Josh and you, the corsage and boutonniere set. It was white rose assortment again, like it was for the Valentine’s dance. You giggled softly remembering that night.
“What is it, sunny?” Josh smiled as he slipped the corsage on your wrist.
“Just remembering our first dance together…” You blushed, as you helped pin his boutonniere to his tux. He smiled, and kissed your cheek softly.
“Alright kiddos! Come on, time to get some pictures of you all.” Karen smiled, getting her digital camera out, your mother did the same.
The two of them kept taking pictures, in front of the ponds, the trees, the garden. You name it. You were already exhausted and the fun of the evening hadn’t even started.
“Mom, I think that's enough pictures…” Jake groaned, fidgeting with his tie.
“Oh alright! I just can’t believe my babies will be graduating in two weeks!” Karen cried out teary eyed, as the twins pulled her into a hug.
Tumblr media
Prom was what you expected it to be. Another dance in which everyone dressed to impress. The only thing that made it sentimental was that it was the last dance for your class. Sure you only had a handful of friends, but you were all going to different schools and some were even moving out of state to pursue their dreams.
Jake had gotten invited to an after party, inviting you and Josh to join him. In which the two of you couldn’t turn down. But before heading over to the after party you had stopped home to change into a more party-like fit, and an overnight bag to stay the night at Josh’s.
Your parents had been more lenient about you staying over at Josh’s considering they trusted him and yourself. But they also knew that they couldn't necessarily control your life as much, as you were turning 18 right after graduation.
Pulling up to the party, Josh and you had driven over with Jake. Val couldn’t join as she had cheer practice in the morning for her upcoming competition. The house was a lakehouse that wasn’t too far from the Kiszka's lakehouse. It was about the same size, maybe a tad bit bigger.
But after all it was Gabe Sanders throwing the party - his parents were loaded with money. The house was filled with probably the entire senior class, and anyone who attended the prom. The music was loud, there was alcohol everywhere. Definitely a different vibe then what you were used to.
“It’s gonna be alright Y/N, it's our senior year after all! And besides I’m sure we’ll go to some college parties.” Josh chuckled softly, rubbing your waist to comfort you.
“I don’t know, I guess it’s just because I’ve never really attended parties like this before.” You quipped walking into the house.
The scene in front of your eyes was like straight out of a movie. People were crowded everywhere, red solo cups in everyone’s hands. Couples lounged together not caring that people saw them hooking up. You made your way to the kitchen with Josh, as he got you a cup of Tequila Soda.
Josh had been around alcohol more frequently than you, so he already had an easy drink to go for. You smiled softly as he handed you a cup, taking a sip you felt the alcohol run down your throat feeling the burning sensation.
“It’s good isn’t it!” Josh smiled softly,
“I’ll manage.” You giggled softly, as he threw his arm around your shoulder.
The rest of the night Josh and you had a couple drinks, definitely now under the influence. He decided to take you to a bedroom upstairs.
Josh and you hadn’t even gotten past 2nd base yet - it’s not that you weren’t ready to take the next step, you just were scared of what he wanted as well. It’s a topic the two of you haven’t generally come across yet. But in the end you knew that when the time was right, it would happen.
The two of you giggled as you made way to the bedroom, kissing and whispering sweet nothings to each other. The two of you sat on the edge of the bed unsure of what to do next. Nervous as all ever, Josh rubbed your shoulder reassuringly.
You smiled and pressed your lips against his, deepening the kiss with him. His hands rubbed your waist, while your hands were tangled in his hair.
Then you heard a floorboard creek,
“Oh my god!” You knew that cracky voice from anywhere.
“What the hell Sam! How did you even get into this party?!” Josh turned away from you, shifting his attention towards his little brother.
“Because the older ladies love me Joshua…” He wiggled his eyebrows.
Josh then picked up a pillow chucking it at Sam.
“Get out Samuel!” His face was beet red.
Sam zipped out of the bedroom, shutting the door on his way out. Josh sighed softly, turning back towards you.
“I’m sorry about that, I should’ve locked the door.” He chuckled nervously.
“It’s okay Josh, really… Besides, I think it's best that our first time isn’t under the influence…” You trailed off, caressing his cheek with your thumb.
He nodded, “You’re absolutely right, sunny… I want our first time to be more meaningful and at a proper setting.” He kissed your cheek softly.
“Come on, we should probably leave soon. Especially before Sam gets into any trouble…”
Josh stood up, putting his hand out for yours. Taking his you intertwine your hands walking downstairs to regroup with Jake and Sam heading back to their place.
June 2014
The last two weeks of school had dragged, it felt longer than usual. But alas, graduation was here. The morning felt absolutely hectic and long, as your mother was frantic on planning your graduation party. Why did she have to have it the same night as graduation, beat you. But you didn’t want to upset her and not have a graduation party.
The assigned seating was based on height, those graduating that were in choir were separate from the rest of the graduating class. Therefore Josh was in the choir section, leaving you and Jake to sit by yourselves. You and Jake were a couple rows away from one another. Then you were next to your good friend Mallory.
The ceremony was a complete bore, talking about how to make sure all the choices you make in life are never taken for granted. And to always remember where you’re from…
Before you knew it, everyone was placing their tassels onto the other side of their caps.
“Congratulations to the 2014 Class of Frankenmuth High!”
The principal smiled, clapping his hands. All of the students threw their caps in the air, catching them afterwards. You found Jake and Josh immediately after the ceremony hugging them tightly.
“Oh sweetie!” Your mom was in tears, flailing her arms to wrap you into a hug. You smiled softly at her, hugging her tightly. Soon after your father engulfed you into a hug.
“Congratulations pumpkin! You’re a high school grad!” He kissed the top of your head.
“Thank you guys…” You smiled softly, going to hug your sister Olivia.
“Congrats sis.” She smiled softly,
“You’re up next…” You giggled, squeezing her more into the hug.
Josh made way back to you after finding his family, he pulled you into a tight hug, kissing your lips softly. You blushed, kissing him back softly in front of everyone, pulling away.
“My mom wanted to get some pictures of all of us.” He chuckled softly.
“What a great idea!” You mother chimed in, standing next to Karen to get pictures of you two and then Jake to join as well.
“Come on now! Smile!” Karen had motioned for you and Josh to pose.
He pulled you by the waist, keeping his hand rested on your hip drawing circles with his thumb. You smiled, placing a hand on his chest taking what seemed like a hundred pictures.
“Alright, one more couple picture then a group picture! Don’t be shy now.” You mother giggled, then Josh and you giggled kissing each other softly for one last photo.
Jake had then joined in, making you stand in the middle like a twin sandwich. You ruffled his hair a bit, fixing his cap and then posed for a couple more pictures that suited both the parents' liking.
“Okay! Can we please go, don’t want to be late to my own graduation party….” You giggled softly.
Your mother gasped, “Oh my god! I almost forgot... Let’s hurry home and get you ready!”
Tumblr media
The graduation party your mother had planned for you went well. Part of your graduating class showed up to join the fun, which included games of cornhole, horseshoe, and some good ole campfire songs.
As the night drew nearer, everyone had left the party leaving you to help clean up with your mother. Josh had also stayed behind to help clean up, where Jake had gone to take Valerie home.
“Thanks for helping…” You smiled, tying up the trash bags.
“Of course sunshine, I’d help anytime.” He flashed a smile at you.
The smile you loved most, when his eyes crinkled and his dimple was visible. You’ve started to notice more little things about him, the things you had grown to love even more about him.
The way he laughed, the way he talked, the way he looked while peacefully sleeping after a long night of band practice. The way his hair rested, just above his shoulders… The way his honey golden brown eyes stole your breath away. He always knew how to make you smile, and how to make you laugh. He wasn’t just any ordinary guy. He was Josh. Josh had become a safe space for you…
And he had no clue how much you loved him… How much you care for him, and how much he meant to you. Josh was like a missing puzzle piece that fit your puzzle to life that you were trying to figure out. And there he was all along.
After taking the trash out to the trash cans, Josh had asked you to go on a drive with him. And which of course you agreed to go.
“Where exactly are we going?” You giggled softly, as he sped off to wherever he had planned.
“Just trust me!” He smiled softly, rubbing your hand with his thumb reassuringly.
A 20 minute drive later, you had pulled up to what seemed to be an abandoned cabin. You got out of the car, waiting for him to join your side.
“You’re not planning on killing me, are you?” You looked at him.
“Now what kind of gentleman would I be to bring you all the way out here to do such a thing.” He chuckled softly, earning a giggle from you.
“So… What’s special about here?” You looked at him questioningly.
“This is where I come to get away and have time for myself… I’ve always been drawn to this location. Whether it's the energy that resides here or whatever higher being is calling to me… I don’t know…” He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
“Josh…” You placed a hand on his cheek, rubbing it softly. “There is no need to get nervous or shy around me…” You kissed him softly.
He pulled you in closer, kissing your lips back softly.
“I just… I love you, and figured I’d show you a spot that could be ours… and perhaps, one day we can buy this land and make this a cute winter holiday home.” He chuckled nervously.
“Mr. Kiszka wants to get a holiday home with me?” You blushed, poking his chest softly.
“Perhaps one day… When the time is right of course.” He smiled, grasping your hands softly intertwining them. “One day, I’ll make you mine forever…”
“You’re sunshine forever…” You smiled softly, leaning in to kiss him once more.
The start of your summer break had just begun. And there was so much left to experience before starting college. You were nervous to say the least about starting this new chapter in your life. But having Josh by your side helped ease the anxiety. Or would it…

Why All This Music?
Masters of the Air - Rosie Rosenthal x OC
sorry about this one :/ link to the masterlist is here!
06. Down in Flames
The party was postponed because of a last minute mission the next day. So was the next one. But no one felt much like partying anymore anyway.
Buck Cleven had gone down on the last mission and the general shock had faded to pessimism. If Major Cleven couldn’t survive the war then who could?
Benny had been flying with him when he’d gone down. Freddie and Millie were doing their best to look after Meatball in his absence.
There was another mission today. It made Freddie not want to get out of bed in the morning. But she did, because she had to. If the boys could get out of bed and force themselves into B-17s which were little more than metal coffins at this point, knowing what might happen to them, what was becoming increasingly likely to happen to them, then Freddie could drag herself out of bed and put some lipstick on and sit in the tower and talk them through take-off, hope that she’d end up talking them through the landing.
Some of the girls had gone to the officers’ club last night in spite of the cancelled party to try to ease the stress a little bit. Freddie had declined. She’d said she was tired and under the weather, wanted to catch up on the sleep the stress was making her lose, but what she’d really wanted was to stay away from Rosie. He was going to go down, she knew it. Eventually, all of them would. And she refused to be the girl being sat down in a quiet room and having the news broken to her that her boyfriend wouldn’t be coming back, refused to do it again. Whatever was going on between them hadn’t gone so far that she couldn’t turn back, so she did. No more pilots - no more men at all, not while a war was still raging on around her. Her heart was hanging on by a thread as it was without having that one thread snapped once more.
“You should’ve gone last night. Fred,” Paddy was saying, powdering her face in the mirror beside hers in the bathroom as they got ready for the day. “Rosie was asking after you.”
Freddie gave a tight smile and continued applying her mascara. “I’m feeling a bit under the weather at the moment,” she repeated her excuse from last night. “Didn’t want to pass anything onto him.”
Paddy lowered her powder puff and watched Freddie in profile. After a few moments she gave Freddie a sad smile. “I’m sure Benny’s on his way back to us right now,” she said quietly, sincerely. “He’ll come waltzing in any day now demanding you give him back full custody of his dog. Buck too.”
Freddie didn’t reply, couldn’t manage it just now, just hummed in response and kept on applying her mascara, hoping that would be hint enough that she didn’t want to talk about it.
When she finished getting ready, Freddie emerged from the bathroom and smiled sadly at Meatball lying on the foot of her bed, in the same position he’d been in the entire night while they’d slept. He knew something was wrong in that instinctive way dogs always did. Her dogs back home always got quiet when she was about to leave again, always stuck to her ankles a little bit closer and demanded more affection. For his part, Meatball just moped. His eyes were sad as between the two of them Freddie and Millie took it in turns taking him on walks, feeding him, taking him out to go to the toilet, and trying to get him to play. He knew his owner, his closest companion, was gone. Knew just as well as Freddie did that he wasn’t coming back. And there was nothing Freddie could do to make it any easier for him.
“Come on, buddy,” she cooed quietly, crouching down at the foot of her bed to be at eye level with him. “How about a quick walk before breakfast? We’ve got some time to kill and I could do with stretching my legs.”
Meatball didn’t react, didn’t sit up or wag his tail or even flick his ears up to indicate he was listening.
Freddie sighed and rested her cheek atop his head. “I know,” she whispered to him, so quiet no one else would be able to hear as they got ready for the day around them. “I know how you feel, and I know it’s the worst thing ever. I know, buddy, I know.”
Standing, Freddie patted his head before retrieving his lead and clipping it onto his collar. She told Millie where she was going as she passed her, sitting on the edge of her bed and wrestling with a too-small pair of stockings she’d had to borrow from Emma after she’d somehow ripped yet another of hers, and received a distracted nod and hum of agreement from her before she continued out the door.
The morning was chilly. Uncharacteristically so. So often recently the mornings had been warm even as the sun was rising, foretelling the day’s scorching heat in the sounds of bugs and birds and the absence of a breeze. Today, there was a bite in the air which made Freddie glad she’d remembered her jacket. The tips of her fingers turned rosy and her knees chilled as she led Meatball away from the rows upon rows of nissen huts in the direction of the mess hall.
The area around the mess hall was quiet but not empty. Sleepless nights were not unique to Freddie. She noticed Bucky sitting on the ground around the side of the mess hall, smoking a cigarette and deep in thought, evident from the clenching of his jaw and his fists. She knew he must have been thinking about Buck, wondering whether he was dead or MIA or POW, wondering which one he should be hoping for.
Freddie ducked her head and headed past him. There was nothing she could say to make it easier.
She sat in the grass and let Meatball off of his lead, watched him idle around and relieve himself before half-heartedly chewing on the grass. There were handfuls of it in Freddie’s hands where she’d ripped it out of the ground. She didn’t notice until she unclenched her fists and watched it all come tumbling out.
Voices were coming louder and more frequent now. Breakfast was fast approaching. Boots on gravel and low chuckling, the click of lighters and the shrugging on of sheepskin jackets in the unprecedented cold; there would be pancakes for breakfast today, just as there had been yesterday and the day before. Pancakes to see the men off. A measly attempt at a last supper.
“That’s not what I meant and you know it!” someone cried. Freddie only turned to look because she thought it sounded like Pappy. And, true enough, it was Pappy, jostling the man next to him, another member of Rosie’s crew, in the arm and smiling wide, although strained.
Rosie had already spotted her. He seemed to have a talent for that, just as much as she seemed to have a talent for appearing in places he was bound to find her even when she didn’t want to be found.
Freddie ducked from his gaze and called for Meatball, hastily reclipped his lead and climbed to her feet, started to lead him in the opposite direction. A conversation with Rosie was about the last thing she wanted right now. She had half a mind to go and sit with Bucky just to scare Rosie off, and considered it seriously for a moment before she realised he had already caught up with her.
“Freddie,” he called from close behind her, slowing from a jog to a walk when she did. “Hey.”
“Hi, Rosie.” Freddie refused to look at him.
“Millie said you weren’t feeling well last night,” he said. She could feel him searching for her eyes and only stared more resolutely ahead. If she looked into his eyes it was all over. She would let him unravel her all over again.
“Yeah,” she replied. “I wasn’t.”
“Are you better now?”
“I’m not contagious,” she told him, even knowing this wasn’t what he meant, wasn’t what he was worried about.
She’d surprised him with her coldness, she knew. He took a few beats to answer.
Freddie tired of walking in the opposite direction to the mess hall and stopped, crouching to scratch Meatball behind the ears. She cooed at him while Rosie contemplated what to say, brushed her thumbs over his cheeks and gave him kisses. Rosie stood and watched her.
“Have I upset you?” he asked at last.
Freddie concentrated on smoothing back Meatball’s fur, on picking some stray strands of grass out of it. “No.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
He paused again. And then: “I’m sorry about DeMarco. I know you’re friends.”
In spite of herself, Freddie laughed. “Yes,” she said, “I’m sorry too. For Meatball as much as for myself. I lost a friend, he lost a soulmate.” There was a lot of that going around this war.
Rosie sighed. He sounded tired but ever patient. “I bet DeMarco feels a little better at least, knowing that he’s in good hands.”
Finally, Freddie looked up at Rosie, to where he was standing with his hands in the pockets of his sheepskin jacket and frowning at her. She shook her head, squinting through the sunshine to look up at him. “I bet Benny’s not thinking much of anything anymore.”
“Someone said they saw ‘chutes -” Rosie objected.
“Someone said this and that and the other, but I’m not holding my breath.”
“You’ve lost someone,” Rosie said, suddenly, inexplicably. His blue eyes were all lit up with clarity, with realisation, with an epiphany which was clearly the answer he’d been searching for to a question asked over and over again. He was looking at her hard.
Freddie knew without having to ask what he meant. He didn’t mean Benny or Buck or Curt, even, though he hadn’t known him, or any of the men she’d known and lost before he’d got here. He meant Daniel. He may not have known he meant Daniel, but he did. He meant someone closer than a friend, whose absence was devastating less in the way of having to care for a tortured dog and more in the way of clinging to an old fisherman’s jersey and screaming like she was on fire.
“A pilot?” Rosie guessed when she didn’t answer.
Freddie stood to her full height. “Leave it alone, Rosie.” She might have intended for her voice to sound threatening but it just sounded tired. She was tired of having to talk about it and having to force herself not to talk about it and having to divert people away from asking about it. She was just tired. Good men were going down everyday now and every time she recalled the version of herself whose heart had gone down in a Hurricane. She’d always thought she would know immediately if her Daniel went down but she hadn’t. She’d been in the tower, talking other pilots through the landing. Had had to be pulled aside and taken to a secluded room so his squadron leader could break the news to her.
That room had haunted her so badly, that hallway and that building and that airfield, that she’d requested a transfer and now here she was. American pilots instead of British ones. Same tears when they went down.
“I’m sorry,” Rosie said, but Freddie knew he wasn’t apologising for asking. He was sorry for her loss. So was she. So was everyone who’d ever found out about it, ever guessed at it. So was the family Daniel had left behind, who’d thought when the two of them left home that the next time they saw Freddie would be at their wedding and instead was at Daniel’s funeral. Closed coffin, no body. The plane went down in flames.
Freddie couldn’t bear to look at Rosie just then. His eyes were so kind, so understanding, and she hated it. She wanted him to shout at her, call her cruel and selfish and arrogant for leading him on as she had and then shutting him out with no explanation. Wanted him to give her an excuse to lash out at him and hit him in the chest and cry, loud and ugly and vulgar. She wanted so, so badly to cry.
“His name was Daniel,” she whispered. Her eyes were planted firmly on Meatball, lying in the grass with his chin atop his feet, contemplating the orange of the distant sunrise.
“Husband?” Rosie asked, equally quiet.
Freddie smiled ruefully. “Almost. If we’d been luckier.” He hadn’t proposed but he was planning it - he never had been able to keep a secret, her Daniel. But she’d loved that he always came to her with it first, always breathless and excited to share with her whatever he knew, always wanting to fuse their memories together so they could share everything, even time spent apart.
Rosie sucked in a low breath. “I’m so sorry, Freddie.”
Freddie shook her head. “I won’t do it again, Rosie.” She clenched her hands into fists at her sides, willing herself to talk to him, to explain herself. “I won’t be pulled aside and told that someone I love has gone down, won’t be given his footlocker to rifle through and decide what to keep and what to give to his family and what to give to his friends.” She could barely meet his eyes as she confessed in little more than a whisper, “I won’t be left behind again.”
Rosie was watching her closely even as she fought hard to avoid his eyes in the wake of her confession, fought to keep her tears from falling. “I understand,” he assured her. In his pocket, his fingers were clutching tightly at the daisy chain she’d given him, the petals mostly broken off or browning with age and how often he’d found himself fiddling with it, thinking of her.
Freddie nodded, sniffling. “Thank you.”
“Just -” he started, relying on the last few remaining petals to bring him courage. “Just don’t punish yourself for what happened to him, alright?” He watched, full of an anticipation which had his heart racing in his chest, as she tentatively met his eyes. “This war would be useless without people to fight for, wouldn’t it?”

“You ready?” Minho asked as he walked into his living room. Y/n sat on his couch with Soonie, looking down at her phone. She’d come over to hang out with him before he went to Changbins for the night. He told his friends he’d be late since he was with her and ultimately they just said to bring her along. Y/n agreed seeing as she could spend some more time with him.
It was the end of the week-long break. A week since Minho had officially met Y/n, not just seeing her around campus and admiring her from afar. Most of the week, the two were spending their free time together. Getting to know each other via dates and just being around each other. All between working, some homework teachers decided to give over the break for some reason, and other things in their lives they had to do.
“Mhm.” She hummed in response
“What’s up?” he asked as he sat down next to her, putting an arm on the back of the house behind her
“Hyunjin’s trying to go to a party tonight.”
“Why? They’re not that fun.”
“We technically met at a party,” Y/n laid her head back against his arm and looked up at him
“We would’ve met sooner or later,” Minho smiled down at her
“You think?”
“Yeah.”
Soonie jumped off the couch and the two looked at him walk away before Y/n looked back at her phone, “Innie wants to know if he can come.” Y/n announced
“I’ll text bin,” Minho sighed as he took out his phone and texted their group chat.
Y/n giggled at him as she let her friends know he was asking. “Bin said he can come. Also asked if Hyune and Felix want to come.”
“Probably since I don’t think any of us are joining Jinnie for a party,” Y/n replied as she typed on her phone.
“Probably better you don’t.”
“They’re coming too. Felix said he’ll bring brownies.”
“Alright. Let’s get going. I gotta help Chan grill,” Minho got up and turned to pull her up off the couch.
Y/n took the hand he extended to her and let him pull her up. The male smiled as he pulled her into his chest. Y/n wide-eyed looked at him as his arm wrapped around her waist. He just flashed his smile at her before patting her hip and walking towards the door.
Y/n felt her ears burn as she followed him. Both of them slipped their sneakers on before grabbing their other belongings and heading out the door.
The drive to Changbin and Chan’s wasn't too long. Short ten-minute drive while soft music played, making Minho drum along to the beat on the steering wheel.
Y/n smiled at him while he was in his little world. Eventually, he noticed her staring and looked over at her and then back at the road, “What?”
“Nothing,” she smiled
“You were staring.”
“And?” Y/n teased as he pulled the car to a stop.
“It’s cute.” he smiled at her as he turned the engine off. He got out of the car before she could say anything.
Y/n smiled and unbuckled her seatbelt as he came around the car and opened the door for her. Y/n thanked him as she stepped out and the two walked up to the door. Minho didn’t knock, just aggressively turned the locked handle for a few seconds.
“Why not just knock?” Y/n questioned as Minho turned back to look at her
“Scaring them is more fun,” Minho smiled as the door opened behind him
“Why?” Changbin asked his friend
Minho just smiled at his friend. Changbin sighed and let the two in. “Chan’s on his way back. Seungmin just got off.” Changbin announced
“Alright,” Minho shrugged
“Do you need help with anything right now?” Y/n asked him
“No. You can just relax. Most everything is set up outside,” Changbin replied as he led them to the small backyard.
A small fire pit sat in the middle of a circle of chairs with a couple of coolers sitting against the house. The fire wasn’t lit yet but wood sat in it, some excess sitting nearby in a bucket. The three took a seat in the chairs. The three sat and talked for a minute while they waited for the others to arrive.
Chan came back to the house after a few minutes. The two men went to help him while Y/n stayed outside and checked her phone. Seeing a couple of texts from Felix about the fae being on their way and pulling up. Y/n pocketed her phone as Felix waddled out into the backyard.
“Hey,” Y/n smiled at her friend while she stood and hugged him
“How are you doing?” Felix smiled as he hugged her back
“I’m good.” The two chatted while the others came out gradually. Y/n greeted Chan before he and Minho started cooking. Seungmin arrived not long after and they were waiting on Jisung at this point.
Changbin started the fire while the two older ones cooked and chatted with the group. A few drinks opened as everyone chatted. The two groups seemed to merge easily with each other. Even when Jisung finally arrived after he got off work just in time for the food to be served, everyone just kept going.
Occasionally either Changbin or Chan tended to the fire. Minho took care of Y/n’s plate once everyone had pretty much finished eating. He offered to clean up with Chan.
“When's the wedding?” Han asked as he took Minho’s seat next to his friend
“You need to stop drinking,” Y/n told him as she sipped her drink
“Yeah, Ji. It’s only been a week,” Changbin yelled at his friend
“One; I'm completely sober right now. Two: she already met his cats.”
“Changbin has a better point,” Seungmin added
“I also told you we were taking things slow,” Y/n mentioned
Jisung groaned and sat back in the chair. The conversation drifted back to school and things coming up in classes after the weekend. Chan and Minho rejoined the group after a few more minutes.
Jisung refused to move from the chair; Minho didn't feel like arguing about it and just sat down on the ground next to Y/n, placing one of his arms on her legs while the conversation carried on as normal. Jisung remembered randomly about the brownies and bolted into the house followed by Hyunjin and Jeongin. Minho used the opportunity to take his seat back.
“Bring them out here!” Y/n yelled at them.
The three listened surprisingly, not hoarding them for themselves.
“Why is there so many?” Chan asked as he grabbed one from the tupperware container
“I had just baked some when Jinnie brought up going to a party.” Felix smiled as the brownies and napkins got passed around the circle.
Jisung noticed his seat was taken and had a few second stare off before the younger one took a seat on Y/n’s lap
“Thanks Ji,” Y/n groaned
“You’re welcome!” Jisung smiled as he leaned back on her
“I love you but i’m about to push you into that fire.”
“Please do it,” Jeongin and Seungmin said jokingly
“Fine,” Jisung groaned as he got off her
The changeling picked up his friend and placed her over on Minho’s lap before he took over his seat. Both looked at him while the rest of the group laughed a little.
“These are good brownies by the way.” Seungmin commented
There was once again a subject change as the humans asked Felix about his brownies.
“You okay there?” Minho whispered in her ear.
“Yeah. You’re laps actually comfier than the chair,” Y/n whispered back
Minho chuckled lightly at her and wrapped one arm around her and pulled her back to lean against his chest while his other arm draped over her legs that laid across his lap. “Well, now it’s your seat whenever you want.” his voice was slightly lower as he whispered in her ear
Y/n looked wide eyed at him as he smiled at her blushing cheeks. And to add more fuel to the fire, he kissed her cheek.
“I saw that!” Changbin yelled
“No you didn’t,” Minho told his friend
“I did,” Jeongin joined in.
“Don’t tease thenthem too much,” Chan tried diffusing the group which seemed to work a little. Not to much though.
A couple hours later, Chan put out the fire and everyone said their goodbyes and headed home.
“Did you have fun?” Minho asked as he drove back to her place
“Yeah,” Y/n smiled
The rest of the drive was a comfortable silence till they got to her place. Minho walked her up to her apartment. Y/n turned to him after she unlocked her door.
“Keep looking at me like that and I might have to kiss you,” Minho chuckled as he pulled her into him
“Well, i was gonna ask if you wanted to stay the night but I guess a kiss will do.”
“How about both?”
“What happened to going slow?”
“I don’t know.”
Minho kissed her forehead as he opened the door behind her and walked her backwards inside the apartment. Y/n giggled as she followed his lead. Minho closed the door behind himself before he rested his forehead on hers. “I really do want to kiss you by the way.”
“Either you kiss me right now or i’m doing it for you,” Y/n urged
Minho pulled her lips to hers and cupped her cheeks. Y/n kissed him back immediately. He’d been thinking about this moment since that party a week ago. Even more when Jisung put her on his lap tonight. It was a nice first kiss for them, even when he pulled away.
“Let’s go to bed.”

OMG could you do a being in a fake relationship with Pietro maximoff to make someone jealous but you both end up falling for eachother
unexpected outcome | p.m.
Tumblr media
Days had started to feel longer and sadder ever since you and your now ex-boyfriend had broken up. The reason why seemed foolish for you but to him, it wasn’t. Right before he left you for good, he turned around to face you, a torn expression on his face.
“Look, I’m sorry Y/N but this is all just too much for me. You’re always away on a mission or whatever it is that you do and I just can’t take it anymore. I’m done here,” his words stung and the kiss he planted on your forehead did even more, as a tear rolled off your cheek.
Now, of course you had tried to reach out to him on the days that followed his departure. But, you quickly figured out that he had made up his mind for good and that it was time to get over him. Did you manage to do so? Not quite.
The Avengers eventually caught up on your odd behaviour, which was very different than the one they were used to. Usually, you’d be described as the bubbly one, the one who’s laugh can always be heard easily. There, it wasn’t the case at all. I’m not saying that you were sliding across every wall crying and hugging old photos of your ex but you weren’t exactly cheerful either.
“What’s her deal?” Pietro asked, as he nodded in your direction so that Sam would get who he was talking about.
“Y/N? I don’t know man, but from what I can see, she’s not having the best time right now,” he observed, frowning.
You were walking around the kitchen with eyes still puffy from the night before, which you had spent erupting in small breakdowns right when you thought the previous one would be the last ever. You almost teared up again when you went to pour coffee in your cup and noticed that none was left. However, Wanda’s comforting hand your shoulder kept you from doing so.
“Here, let me take care of this.”
In the blink of an eye, your cup was filled and warm to perfection. She stood before you, her head tilted and her eyes filled with concern.
“You’re still coming tonight, right?”
“Tonight?”
“Stark.”
“What’s with Tony?”
“His party, Y/N. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten about it.”
Of course you had. So many things were running in your mind and Stark’s party had been the very last to do so. All you’d been thinking about lately was what you were going to do next. Would you get rid of the pictures? The playlist? His old shirt? Toothbrush? Not once had a party been your main concern.
You shook your head in confusion and frowned, wondering if a going to a party would be the best choice to make at that moment. Wanda caught up, and gave you half a smile. Taking your hands in hers, she squeezed them with affection.
“You have to come. I’m sure it’ll help you clear your head. Plus, Natasha can’t come… I can only handle so many bad news,” she leaned in a bit, and gave you the puppy dog look only she can do so well.
She smiled victoriously the minute you rolled your eyes, in defeat. “Yes. I’m confident you will thank me tomorrow morning,” she said before kissing your cheek and leaving to go to training.
The day passed on an average note. You spent an hour or so training with Steve and Sam, who had both tried to make you forget your problems with punches and kicks.
“C’mon, sweetheart. Give me a smile, I promise I’ll let you win next time,” Sam breathed cockily as he stood over you, a n inviting hand hovering over you as an invite to help you up.
“Right.”
When the time finally came, you heard three knocks following a rhythm only you, Natasha and Wanda had established.
“Uh- Wow,” Wanda let out as she stepped back a bit. “Now I kind of hope he’ll show up only for him to break down with regrets.”
You chuckled and looked down quickly, “Can we please just not talk about him anymore? I’m coming to forget.”
Wanda laughed along and took your hand in hers as she started walking, “Right, to forget.”
Stark was known for his extravagant parties and yet again, he hadn’t missed one beat. The decoration was ravishing, dancers were dancing high up, on golden platforms. The music was loud, coming from every where in the room, which was made possible by the new technology he was experiencing.
“Well, if these aren’t the two most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. Not even in Asgard,” you and Wanda turned around to face Thor, smiling with a drink in hand. Handsome couldn’t even be the right word to compliment him back, but you still used it.
“I have to agree here,” Pietro appeared behind him and walked in to plant a protective kiss on his sister’s forehead. “You do look very beautiful, Y/N,” he noticed out loud with a thick accent, as his eyes quickly scanned your entire self which made you feel naked almost.
The music was loud, almost too much but this and drinks were the perfect combo to make you think about anything else than him. However, the content smile quickly disappeared from your face when you spot him at the bar, with a hand holding firmly the back of a woman you’d never seen before. “Why’d I have to look at this damn bar,” you thought, regretful.
“What’s wrong, dragoste?” you heard Pietro’s voice quite close to your ear, which sent shivers down your back.
“Hm? Nothing. I think I’m gonna take some air,” you said loudly enough for him to hear. You thought he’d leave it at that but that’s knowing Pietro wrong. A frown automatically decored his traits and he faked a pouty expression, earning a smile from you.
He leaned in again, “Don’t tell me it’s because of that guy, there.” You tried to fake innocence but gave up because he’d shown you enough times before that he can always see right through your bullshit. “C’mon.”
You didn’t have the time to think before feeling yourself being dragged deeper into the crowd, yet closer to the bar. It didn’t take you long to connect the dots, Pietro had a plan. Classic one, even stupid but saying that it didn’t make you feel like a teen again would be a lie.
“This song actually makes me despise Americans a bit less,” Pietro admitted with a grin as he took your hand in order to make you twirl once or twice. Being with him was like a breath of fresh air. He’d always have this special ability to make you smile and crack a laugh even when you really didn’t feel like it. Again, he didn’t miss. He’d managed to make you forget about what you had just witnessed. However, what you hadn’t expected was for Pietro’s charm to actually work on you. When you weren’t single, you’d been doing your best to not appear like his tricks made you feel anything. You’d stay friendly at best and leave it at that. But now that you were “free” again? Hell, it was all different then.
Now, maybe it was also enabled by the alcohol, the music and the mix of anger, sadness and deception that had been bottling up in you. But, you could tell that something was different.
“Hey,” you saw Pietro mouth and so, you leaned in, standing on your tippy toes. His breath felt warm on your ear and for a second, you felt your knees give you up. “He’s looking at us. Brother doesn’t seem to pleased.”
You could tell that Pietro was having fun with it but didn’t take it too seriously. You’d witness every time he’d show a new girl around the tower or cancel your team plans to meet one. Everyone knew that Pietro was living the single life to the fullest and hence that you were probably one among others. But, for once, you didn’t hang onto that miserable thought.
“Oh,” you breathed in — almost — fake exasperation, “Let him.” Wrapping your arms around his neck, you brought him closer to you.
Pietro looked surprised at first, then amused, and then simply content. It also felt as if he relaxed under your touch. As if being around you on this very night was different for him as well. But, you didn’t pay it much attention either.
“It’s getting too hot in here, I think I want to get some air and thistime, I really mean it,” you managed to say between breaths. Seems like partying can be exhausting when done with Pietro. “Trust me?” you heard him ask as he grabbed your hand firmly and nodded almost immediately.
“There.”
Looking around, you made up that you were now both standing on the only empty spot of the Stark terrace, above New York. The view was breathtaking as always but Pietro’s blue eyes reflecting the city lights was even more.
The flirting went on, Pietro was making a few jokes and you’d laugh shamelessly. “I prefer to see you like that.”
“Like what?”
“Happier.”
“I was.”
“Didn’t seem so lately.”
Now, it hit you. You were mourning a relationship that had actually — theoretically — ended weeks ago. You bit the inside of your cheek as you realised all of this and shook your head in disbelief. Pietro, on the other hand, was looking for your eyes as as a smile started to form on his lips.
“You’re right.”
“It feels good when you admit it.”
“Please, don’t get too cocky.”
“I’d never.”
Your exchanges were getting shorter and shorter as tension started to build. Even though the music was inside, it was still pounding in your chest and blame it on that or your surroundings which made you loose track of everything but it all happened so fast. Next thing you knew, you lips were on Pietro’s and your hand on the back his head.
Now, what surprised you was how quickly he caught up. He didn’t brush you off or stopped you. Instead, he kissed you back and even smiled into the kiss. It all felt so relieving. To the point that it didn’t feel like faking anything anymore.

Ned Stark
ned would DEF be shocked
at first he’d do the “are you sure?” while looking around to see if anyone heard you
he’s def afraid it’ll hurt his reputation, and when he sees you deflated he absolutely hates it
so he’d hug you tight, breath shaky and go “we’ll learn together.”
he definitely doesn’t know how to go about this at first, asking if he can still marry you off or not
he wouldn’t talk about it much after, but for a month he seems cautious on what he says to you
he’ll slowly learn though, and once you explain some things to him he’ll appeal to the gender(s) of your liking
“Look at that guy/girl over there… You think they’re cute?” he’ll laugh out and nudge you, becoming much more comfortable with the idea as he sees how happy it makes you that he’s supportive
he’d def be the one to convince catelyn to support you, arguing day and night until she opens her mind to the concept
would fight day and night for you, and if rumor spreads he’ll shrug them off, not one bit ashamed of his child.
Catelyn Stark
she’s totally not fond of it
she’d look at you in surprise. then, “no. you must continue your duties, you mustn’t say such things.” while cupping your cheeks and tears coming to her eyes
when you try to explain, she’d shush you softly with a shake of her head.
things are tense for a while, and she seems upset with you and this “choice” of yours
though, one night while you’re wandering the castle for a water, you’d hear Ned whisper-shouting at your mother
”please, my dearest lady wife… We must show our support.” you hear, as Catelyn yells harsh words to her husband
one day, she’ll come to you out next to a tree, sitting in silence for a brief moment before sighing and hugging you
then, she says softly, “I love you, and I love whoever you choose to love, my sweetling.”
Robb Stark
you can never find the “right” time to tell robb
so, you tell him as he’s leaned over a table, inspecting his war plans
when you say it, he turns his head in surprise for a moment then laughs, thinking you’re pulling his leg
when he sees you’re serious, he immediately stands up straight and will purse his lips
you can tell he doesn’t truly know how to feel, but he’ll eventually speak up
”That’s definitely news.” he’ll say with a soft chuckle
then, he moves in and hugs you tight
the hug is brief, then he ruffles your hair and goes back to his plans
when you’re surprised and give him a “that’s all???” he’ll nod and not even look at you
he just says “what, do you want a party? you love women/men, and I love women. if you aren’t surprised and over the moon about my likings, why should we yell and throw stakes and torches at yours?”
then, he fixes his map, not even turning around. he’s def scared, worried it’ll taint the family name if people find out, but nonetheless he loves you all the same.
Sansa Stark
she been knew.
she’d see you sneaking sly glances to those of the same gender, how your eyes wander just a bit too long for a glance
so, when you tell her, she’d just continue what she’s doing
”You’re not secretive,” she’ll say, looking to your flushed face with a laugh
”I knew before you knew.”
then, she’ll move over and hold your hand, smiling and squeezing it.
”I love you all the same, please remember as such.” she whispers as she looks back to her task and continues
she’ll def tease you about it though, asking if you have taken a liking to anyone specific and much like Ned will point people you may be attracted to out in crowds and nudge at you
Bran Stark
bran, honest to god, does not care
you tell him and he just smiles a bit and nods, then goes back to what he was doing
when you repeat yourself, unsure if he heard, he looks at you again
”So?” he’ll say
”So? This took a lot out of me.”
”Okay, congratulations on loving who you love.”
he doesn’t see the big deal about telling him, honestly just happy you are who you are. who you love doesn’t matter to him, and he’d never even bring up romantics with you. maybe a few questions on who you show interest in, but nothing more.
Arya Stark
she is OVER THE MOON.
you tell her and her eyes widen and she grabs your hands
”you are?!” she’ll whisper yell, grinning from ear to ear.when you confirm she heard right, she looks like she might cry.
”I have to say I too love differently than most. Women are quite the treat.”
she’ll then ramble about this servant girl she’s taken a liking to, a feisty one with a fire like no other
honestly, she’s happy she isn’t alone. though she’s fine with a man, her preference stays with women.
though, she does try to set you up, thinking she’s helping but is embarrassing you in the process
Jon Snow
he honestly has no reaction like Bran
at first he’d ask a few questions, trying to make sure he understands your preferences more clearly, then will ask who all you’ve told
“just you,” you’ll say, and he’ll smile ass gentle and sweet
”Your secret is safe with me.”
he doesn’t speak of it again until you’re out to your entire family, then he will ask his father how marriage will work and try to get the political matters understood, curiosity besting him
Cregan Stark
cregan loves that you’ve told him
he admires your courage and sees you as some powerful specimen to be able to admit such things
”shall we hold a feast?” he’ll say eagerly, if this man has a tail it’’d be wagging like crazy
when you decline his offer, he’d slightly deflate but then bear hug you
he LOVES to tease you about it, at his tournaments and feasts signaling to specific people and urging them to dance with you
he love embarrassing you as well, when you show interest in someone he’d poke fun and purposefully put you in situations to know them better
he’s seen hiring more accepting and open people, trying to make the environment comfortable for you and allow you to pursue folks without judgment
overall, he loves you all the same.

“Is that everything?”
Steve nods as he sets the last box on the counter.
It’s only been a few months since everyone came back, but you all decided to move back to New York to be closer to everyone. Back to Brooklyn, precisely.
Natasha’s funeral was small. Quiet and personal on the lake at Tony’s cabin. A statue for her was being made, and would eventually sit a block or two from the tower.
Her absence was always noticeable, but everyone was slowly coming to grips with it. She would hate to see anyone wallowing.
You’d given your Romanian cottage to Wanda, who’d been intent on working on the grief of losing Vision. She called every now and then, showing you your healthy chickens and garden that thrived under her care.
Now, with Steve’s recent retirement and a bit of cash from the government as compensation, you all bought a large apartment back home.
Two arms, one metal and one skin, wrap around your waist. Bucky rests his head in between your wings and sighs.
“Don’t wanna unpack yet,” he mumbles. You laugh, turning around to kiss him before grabbing a box.
“C’mon. The faster we get done, the faster you can see your surprise.”
Both of your boys’ heads perked up at that. You had been hinting at it for weeks, but refused to tell them.
It had been a guessing game for a while now. A pet, another road trip, a shitty musical on Steve’s life? (That last one was true, much to your disdain.)
The one thing they hadn’t guessed was the small box tucked in the flowerbed full of phlox on your balcony.
“You never keep secrets,” Steve says as he starts hanging up clothes in the large closet. “Shocked you managed to keep this one.”
You gasp in fake indignation. “Steven Grant Rogers! How could you?”
“Yeah, Stevie,” Buck chimes in. “So inconsiderate.”
The blond rolls his eyes and kisses your forehead before grabbing a new box of clothes.
“I’m sorry, you are so very good at keeping secrets,” he grins.
Unpacking moves quickly from there, the three of you working efficiently as the sun starts sinking in the sky.
By the time you’re done, it’s 6:00. Stark’s throwing a party at 6:30, and he’ll throw a fit if you’re late.
He still bitches a bit when you make it at 6:15.
Most everyone’s there, smiling and filling each other in on the past months’ events.
Tony’s little girl is running around, Peter trailing close after her to make sure she doesn’t trip. Shuri and Bruce are in a heated yet friendly debate over AI, exchanging words that you don’t recognize, and from the look of T’Challa, who stands nearby, he doesn’t either.
Sam’s standing with your boys, annoying Bucky as Steve mediates. The new group, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” has huddled around Stephen Strange as the grumbling doctor creates various portals.
Everyone else is scattered about, drinking and enjoying each others’ company.
“Stark,” you greet at the presence behind you.
“Can’t get anything past you, can I?” he asks. You hum, glancing over at his new prosthetic. “How’s it been with the grandpas?”
“It’s been nice,” you admit. “Finished getting everything moved in today.” He nods, pretending to think for a moment before launching the question that brought him over in the first place.
“Soooo… Any upcoming fancy events we need to know about?”
You raise an eyebrow, not taking the bait. “Like what?”
“Oh, you know.” Stark waves a dismissive hand. “Two suits for them, a nice dress for you. White is really your color by the way. Plus, maybe it could have a nice cake at it. A few dances, nothing special.”
When you only deadpan at him, he continues.
“It could start with ‘W’ and end in ‘edding’-“
“Alright, maybe!” you finally say. “I haven’t given them the rings yet.”
Tony balks. “Seriously? Of all the people I expected to be nervous about proposing, it wouldn’t be you.”
You frown. “Why?”
“Listen, the three of you are madly in love. Anyone who’s anyone could tell you that, if any of us were made for each other, it’s you three.” He silently gags at his words, as if disgusted by the sappiness. “I hate it, but I’m right.”
He sips his (Morgan’s) sparkling grape juice. “Speak of the devils.”
You look up as your boys approach.
“Hey doll,” Bucky smiles before pressing a kiss to your hand. “Miss us?”
“Please,” Tony holds up a hand. “Spare me.”
He whisks away after his daughter, but not before nodding to you with a very obvious wink.
Maybe he’s right.
———————————————————————
That night, as soon as you get home, your boys are pestering you for the surprise.
“Fine, fine,” you concede, opening the doors to the balcony. “Go sit down on the couch.”
When you present the small box, you can hear both of their heart rates quicken.
“Um, the last five years, I had a lot of time to think,” you begin. “It was horrible, being alone. Sure, not everyone was gone, but you two were, and every morning I’d wake up and-“ You pause to swallow the tears.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Bucky whispers. “You don’t have to talk about it right now, doll.”
You sit in between them, wings getting squished a bit on the plush couch.
You give a firm nod, pressing forward. “Anyways, when we were going back in time for the Stones, they had me do a test run.”
“Where’d you go?” Steve asks.
A pause. “I went back to our apartment. Before the war. And I grabbed this.”
You open the box, where three gold bands lie.
“They’re…“
“My parents’,” you cut the brunet off. “My dad always promised my mom he’d resize and put a diamond on her wedding band when he had enough money, but… he never got around to it.”
Steve and Bucky each lift a band, with you doing the same.
“D’you want a traditional proposal?” Steve jokes. You chuckle, shaking your head.
“Nothing about us is traditional,” you reply.
All three of you wordlessly slip on the rings, before Bucky pipes up from your left with both pinkies extended.
“‘Til the end of the line?”
You and Steve respond in kind.
“Until the end of the line.”

Day 15: Meeting the parents (and it goes... badly)
We are seven days late to the party but who cares? Fuck it!
Ship: Floydsin
Warnings: n/a?
Following the same "Rhett and Bob are twins storyline"
-
“You kiss your mom with that mouth, Bobby?”
“I can think of a couple other things I could kiss-“
“Fuck, that’s hot.”
The doorbell echoed into the living room, interrupting the playful banter. Bob groaned, patting Hangman’s thigh to untangle them.
“Let me up, I’m hoping it’s my Amazon order.”
“But- Mario Kart? I might actually win this time.”
Bob rolled his eyes, planting a kiss to his boyfriend’s forehead.
“I appreciate the enthusiasm but I don’t think that’s ever gonna happen.”
“But- ow?”
Bob jogged into the hallway when the doorbell rang again, checking the camera. His eyebrows raised.
“What the fuck?”
“Everythin’ alright?”
Jake rounded the corner to join him in the doorway but Bob put his hands on his chest, gesturing for him to go upstairs.
“My parents are here. Go upstairs.”
Jake protested, eyes darting over Bob’s face to figure out what was going on. His eyebrows furrowed and he eventually went upstairs. The doorbell rang a third time and Bob took a deep breath before opening the door.
“Mom... dad?”
-
Bob watched his parents come through the front door, eyes wide as they took a look around his house.
“I thought you guys were in Colorado lookin’ for Perry?”
His mom gently tapped his cheek as she walked through with her suitcase, his father looking around.
“Flights got cancelled back to Montana so we rebooked to come see you.”
“Of course you did.”
“What a... large place, Robert. Do you have a roommate?”
Bob took a deep breath. Then, he saw the loophole.
“Oh- uh, yeah. Jake’s upstairs, he just came home from a workout so he’s in the shower.”
Upstairs, the water started running. Bob breathed a sigh of relief- he could count on Jake to eavesdrop at any given opportunity.
“Well; are you going to give us the tour?”
“Oh, yeah! Uh, this is the living room...”
He led them around the ground floor of his house, showing them the bathroom and kitchen as well as the tiny room he used as an office. When they went to go upstairs he held out a finger to them.
“I’m just gonna see where Jake is; I don’t want to put him out.”
“Of course,” his father agreed. Bob turned and fled up the stairs, running into Jake in the hallway. He was only just leaving the bathroom, only wearing the towel around his hips and his hair was damp.
“They think you’re my roommate,” Bob filled him in, “grab some of my clothes and go into the spare room. I’ll knock in a minute.”
Jake’s brows furrowed together and he leaned in to squeeze Bob’s arm.
“Are you... out?” He whispered. Bob shook his head.
“I’ll tell you about it later. Just... go along with me, okay?”
With a quick glance over his shoulder he pressed a chaste kiss to his boyfriend’s lips then ducked into his room to tidy up. Jake grabbed a change of clothes from the dresser, thankful he’d started leaving things behind months ago. Bob quickly fixed his sheets, tossing the comforter back on as an afterthought, then tossed anything suggesting sexual activity into the nightstand drawer which he could lock. As a final thought, he grabbed Jake’s phone charger from the other side of the bed and put it into a dresser drawer- he’d give it back to him later. Finally, he went back to the base of the stairs.
“He’s just gettin’ dressed, he’ll be ready in a minute. Uh, so, this is my room...”
Bob opened his bedroom door to his parents who took a look around. His mom turned to him, frowning.
“It’s very... plain.”
“It’s base housing, mom, we’re typically not here very long or very often.”
He kept the fact he was going to be here for the next five years to himself; he’d already put in an offer on a house about half an hour from base. Jake wasn’t ready to go in on it with him but he was supportive of the offer.
“Of course,” she hummed. Hangman took that moment to appear, flicking his hair out before leaning on the doorway.
“Heard there were some visitors I had to come and see. Mr and Mrs Floyd, it’s so great to finally meet you.”
“Mr and Mrs Abbott, actually. And you are...?”
“Lieutenant Jake Seresin, sir. I work with Bobby.”
Jake’s eyes subtly darted to Bob, but he quickly turned on the thousand-watt smile everyone loved to shake his parents’ hands. Bob’s mother looked between them, clearing her throat.
“Rhett couldn’t come; he and Hadley are in Australia for a month.”
“Smart,” Bob muttered under his breath.
“Bobby?”
Bob’s father had finally come back to his senses, gaze darting between the two men. Jake sent Bob an apologetic look, clearing his throat.
“Your son’s the youngest on our team; our teammate Rooster gave him the nickname. It’s kinda a rite of passage with us.”
“And what’s your nickname?”
“Bagman,” Bob blurted out, unwilling to give up the nickname he called Jake when no one else was around, “his callsign is Hangman so we usually have variations. We call Rooster Roo a majority of the time.”
He knew how much Jake hated that nickname when it wasn’t used in a jovial context by himself or Phoenix, but it was the first thing that came to mind. He watched Jake’s green eyes sadden and he gently rapped his knuckles on the door frame.
“So, y’all are in luck; me and Bobb- uh, Robert- can share his room if y’all want to stay here. Hotels are expensive, it’s not worth it and the sofa isn’t exactly comfortable. My room is clean, please feel free to use it.”
“Thanks, Jake, but uh-“
“-that would be great, thank you Jake.”
Mrs Abbott cut Bob off, glancing over her shoulder at her husband.
“Royal, could you go get the cases?”
“Let me.”
Jake sent one last look at Bob before going downstairs with Royal. Bob’s mother rounded on him.
“It’s been ten years and you haven’t even given me a hug,” she said. Bob winced.
“M’sorry, mama. C’mere.”
He pulled her into a hug, shoulders relaxing.
“I’m sorry you had to find out about Perry and Amy through Rhett,” she whispered. He cleared his throat.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Of course you don’t.”
She stepped away, glancing over her shoulder when she heard footsteps coming back upstairs.
-
The rest of the day was awkward, dinner even more so. Usually Jake and Bob sat together and talked about their days, but they sat at opposite ends of the table and mostly kept the conversation to the ranch or work queries. Bob’s mother was eager to meet Maverick but Bob told her he and Rooster were on a road trip; it was a long story and it wasn’t his to tell. By the time nine pm rolled around Bob was looking forward to going to bed and his parents politely excused themselves to Jake’s room to go to bed. Once the door closed upstairs Jake rounded on Bob.
“What the fuck is goin’ on?”
“What do you mean?”
They moved into the kitchen to fall into their usual nightly dishes routine; Bob rinsed the dishes then handed them to Jake to put into the dishwasher. With the noise coming from that they could talk without worrying about being overheard.
“You’re not out to your parents?”
“Are you?” Bob snapped. Jake sighed.
“That’s not what we’re talkin’ about. Bobby... your parents don’t even share a last name with you- and Mav and Roos are on a roadtrip? Maybe out to Mav’s place but they’d be back by now.”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“You told Phoenix, why can’t you tell me?”
Bob whirled around, eyes wide.
“How do you know I told Phoenix?”
“When Rhett and Hadley were here she told me to stay close because she was worried about you. I got the hint.”
Bob hummed.
“Right. Sure.”
Jake wiped his hands on the nearest dishtowel and approached him, hands going to Bob’s hips.
“Look,” he whispered, “I can tell this is stressing you out, and you don’t have to tell me if it’s going to make it worse. All I want to do is know what I can do to help.”
Bob checked over Jake’s shoulder for any hints his parents were coming downstairs before he stepped into Jake’s arms, placing his forehead on his shoulder.
“I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to show up on my doorstep after ten years, and I don’t know that I want them here, but... I have to try, right? I’m the black sheep and that’s saying a lot because Rhett has always been a close second.”
“If you don’t want to try there is nothing wrong with that. Say the word and I’ll pay for their tickets back to Montana.”
Bob smiled into Jake’s shirt, turning to press a kiss to his neck.
“I know.”
Jake squeezed his back, gesturing to the dishes.
“C’mon, let’s finish up and go to bed.”
-
Jake stirred to their alarm going off at six, glancing over to find Bob already up and dressed.
“Oh, c’mon. No good morning kiss?” He deadpanned. Bob rolled his eyes, crouching by the bed to do as requested.
“M’goin’ to talk to Tasha. I’ll see you at work.”
“Hey.”
Jake shifted, catching Bob’s hand at the last second.
“I love you.”
That made the wizzo soften and he brushed a hand over his boyfriend’s back.
“Love you too. Brush your teeth, you were snoring last night.”
“You were talkin!”
The pair separated, laughing as Bob left the room and Jake started his morning routine.
Mrs Abbott was in the kitchen when Jake made his way downstairs dressed for base, making him pause.
“Good mornin’, ma’am,” he said tentatively. She glanced over her shoulder, sipping on her coffee.
“Good morning, Jake- please, call me Cece.”
“Okay... Cece. Did you sleep well?”
“Yes, thank you. Still on ranch time, I guess. Has Bob already left?”
“Yeah, he was going to meet his pilot for a meeting.”
He made his way over to the coffee machine, starting it before ducking into the fridge to find the cream cheese for his bagel. Cece watched him for a moment, quiet.
“Where are you from, Jake?” She asked.
“Texas, born and raised.”
“Can I ask when you last spoke to your family?”
Jake frowned.
“It would be almost fifteen years. They weren’t supportive growing up and that continued when I told them what I wanted to do career wise. They thought I should have stayed on the ranch.”
“I always thought Robert would leave. He didn’t like that life.”
“He fits in here; ma’am, your son is one of the best wizzos I have ever seen.”
“I appreciate that.”
They stood in silence while Jake waited for his bagel to pop up from the toaster. When it finally did he smothered it in cream cheese and checked the time on his phone.
“Damn, I’m gonna be late. Uh- look, I’m gonna leave my house key on the entryway table, please feel free to come and go as y’all please.”
He grabbed the bagel and chewed it as he headed for the door, grabbing his truck keys and slipping out the front door.
-
Bob flopped into his seat beside Phoenix in the classroom and she passed over his coffee, nudging his side.
“Thanks for telling me all that this morning. If you need anything let me know, okay?”
“Yeah, sure.”
Hangman chose that moment to stride into the classroom, cocky smile at the ready. He easily slid into his seat, flicking his notebook open. Coyote nudged him and they put their heads together, whispering for a moment before Maverick came into the room with the rest of the Daggers. He went to start his lecture but he paused when he saw Jake and Bob.
“Oh no; trouble in paradise?”
“No sir,” they both called back. Maverick shrugged.
“Alright then. Today we’re going to be doing flight simulations...”
The team settled in for the rest of the day, everything else to the back of their minds. Bob glanced over at Hangman briefly but when he didn’t get eye contact he put his head down and focused on taking notes.
“Did you two break up?”
“Rooster, you’re the last person I’d tell if that was the case.”
Rooster frowned as he jogged to catch up with Hangman, falling into step with him.
“C’mon, man, what’s going on?”
Hangman glanced around, before he leaned into Rooster.
“He called me Bagman.”
“He... always calls you Bagman?”
“It was the way he said it, Rooster, in front of his folks.”
“Y’know, I don’t think I’m the one to be offering any kind of advice regarding parents considering mine are not on Earth, but uh... have you talked to Bob about it?”
“Can’t,” Jake frowned, teeth clenched, “his parents are staying with him and he’s... it’s complicated.”
“I know,” Rooster reassured, “and I get it, trust me I do.”
Hangman shook his head, gesturing to the locker room they were coming up to.
“Gonna take a leak, go see what the others are doing.”
Rooster kept going and Hangman stepped into the locker room, heading for his locker. As he opened it he heard footsteps and whirled around only to come face to face with his boyfriend.
“Hey.”
“Hi... look, about yesterday-“
“-it’s... fine.”
“It’s not, and I’m sorry.”
Jake hummed.
“It was shitty. You know I don’t mind you saying it but I don’t like it used as an insult against me, especially not from you.”
Bob cleared his throat.
“I’m scared... to tell them.”
“I wouldn’t ever pressure you, especially if you feel like you’re not safe. Just remember that you haven’t talked to them in ten years. A lot can change in that time.”
Bob ran a hand through his hair, then pulled his boyfriend into a hug.
“I want to tell them all about you, please believe me when I say that.”
“I do.”
-
Coming home separately was strange and it really put Jake out. He had his own base housing but if he was honest with himself he spent more time at Bob’s. It was just where they were happiest and they often drove to and from work together. Pulling into the driveway he spotted Bob’s truck already parked and headed inside. His parents were sitting on the couch, looking at some document, and Bob was standing by the entrance to the living room with his arms crossed.
“Mom, dad, I told you, I can’t leave work to find Amy with you. I have to be here.”
“She has to be somewhere, Robert, she can’t just disappear! We came here because we hoped you would come to your senses and help your family-“
Bob sucked in a breath and Jake saw a blush cover his cheeks.
“You left us high and dry once; the least you could do is help us find your niece, or come home and help me with the ranch.”
Jake’s eyes darted to Bob, who sniffed at his father’s harsh words. Finally, Jake had had enough.
“Alright, y’all need to get some fuckin’ perspective,” he started. Bob looked to him in alarm but Mr Abbott was already standing.
“What did you just say to me?”
“You don’t talk to your son for ten years and then show up because you need him for something? You know he almost died last year, right?”
“This is a family matter, Mr Seresin; I suggest you leave us to it.”
“Mr Abbott, all due respect, I am family. I’m Bobby’s family.”
“The Navy teach you that? You go on a mission together and then you’re family, or were you so desperate for a family that you-“
“-enough!”
Bob stepped in front of Jake, glancing over his shoulder to check on him before he gestured to the door.
“Go and get your shit, I’ll pay for your hotel room tonight.”
Jake felt his stomach sink, but Bob was staring directly at his parents.
“I didn’t even invite you here, and I don’t remember you guys ever asking me if I was alright.”
“Robert-“
“-it’s Bob! It’s Bob, or Bobby, or Baby on Board. I can’t remember the last time I introduced myself as Robert. God, will you just get lost already?”
“I won’t take you talking to me like this-“
Cece put her hand on her husband’s, meeting his eyes.
“We should go. Robert- Bob- he’s happy here.”
“He should have never left in the first place,” Mr Abbott complained. Jake opened the front door.
“You have thirty seconds to go upstairs and gather your shit, Mr Abbott,” he warned, “before I throw it on the lawn and call the cops for trespassing.”
“You can’t do that!” Mr Abbott exclaimed. Bob reached behind himself and pulled Jake into his back.
“Actually, he can, and I want him to.”
“Bobby-“
“-no. I want you here.”
Jake’s eyes were soft when they glanced toward Bob, but he seemed to switch into more of his Hangman persona when he flicked back to Bob’s parents.
“Think y’all should be goin’ now.”
Mr Abbott headed upstairs to get the suitcases and Cece quietly headed to grab the car keys for their rental. She didn’t say a word to Bob or Jake as she passed, head down. Jake kept his hand on Bob’s back, standing behind him in solidarity.
“Well,” he muttered quietly, “that was fucked up.”
“Shush,” Bob hissed, elbowing him in the ribs. He grabbed his wallet and pulled out a couple bills, nudging Jake.
“I’ll be right back, just gonna give them some cash and make sure their flights are booked.”
He opened another drawer and pulled out an envelope, making Jake’s eyebrows raise.
“Do you have cash everywhere?”
“Uh, yeah? I like to keep cash, just in case.”
“Nerd.”
Bob rolled his eyes but he pressed a kiss to Jake’s temple before he went outside.
-
With both Bob’s parents finally gone the couple reunited in the living room, flopping on to the couch in the early evening sunset. Bob pulled Jake’s legs into his lap, massaging his calves.
“You didn’t have to stand up for me, but I appreciate it. No one’s stood up for me to them before.”
“I’m sorry I-“
“-don’t apologise. We’re okay. I love you.”
Jake reached out, taking his hand.
“Rematch? We never finished our game yesterday.”
“Yeah, okay. C’mon, let’s do it... JJ.”

Altar Part 2
Tumblr media
“Y/N come on you can’t stay in Brazil forever you knew you were going to have to see Jack once we had to leave.” Neelam yelled through the bathroom door of the hotel room. You looked over your reflection in a mirror, how did you not see this coming I mean he’s been so glued to his phone and so secretive. You should’ve known when he removed you from his home screen.
“Just let me be Neelam I just got cheated on and the last thing I want to do is stay in a plane with him for fourteen hours.” You yelled back through the door. Neelam sighed heavily making you feel even worse.
The night Jack got caught cheating he broke it off with Anitta. Seeing your shocked and broken face pained him. He wasn’t even sure as to why he cheated on you I guess he was so caught up in the lust in the rush of getting caught who knows but he felt like an ass.
You eventually pulled yourself together before making your way out of the hotel bathroom. Neelam smiled up at you before taking both your hands and pulling you in for a hug.
“Things will be okay my love he didn’t deserve you and he’ll regret it. Besides I heard he was crying all night after we left and broke it off with her, but you didn’t hear that from me.” Neelam laughed making you smile at her Neelam always knew how to make you feel better without even trying.
Once the two of you arrived at the private jet you felt everyone’s eyes on you which made you pull your sweater tighter on you. You were never one for attention and having all eyes on you, but you know that feeling when everyone is talking about you before going into a room? Yeah, that’s the feeling you were having right now.
Jack looked at you through his Prada sunglasses as you made your way towards the back of the jet. He so badly wanted to come back there with you, but he knew right now wasn’t the right place or time.
“Well since the tension in here is so thick why don’t we try and play a game to past the time.” Urban tried to suggest but when he got no response from anybody he awkwardly sat back down.
The plane ride back to Atlanta was draining and weird to say the least a few words were spoken here and there but you kept your headphones in and head stuck looking out the window. Till you felt the seat next to you dip it was no other than Jack himself.
“Can we talk Y/N? About everything that went down I’m so sorry I know you’ll never forgive me but plea-.” You cut him off by standing up and walking away but he wasn’t having it.
“So you really aren’t about to talk to me? I’m trying to talk to you and work shit out with you but you wanna act like an ass.” Jack yelled at you catching the attention of everyone. His baby blue eyes starring you down. You turned around quickly and made your way towards him before being face to face with him.
“What’s there to talk about Jackman? You cheated on me I didn’t cheat on you. You’re a pig I don’t have anything to say to you. I’m done and we’re done.” Jack studied your face he watched how the tears started to brim your eyes.
“We can work this out Y/N please once we land we’ll head to our place and talk about this.” He tried to reassure you but you weren’t having it.
“I don’t think you understand what I just said Jack we’re done. When we land I’m going with Neelam to her place I’m not staying with you. You’re dead to me.” Voice shaking as you spoke before heading into the bathroom on the jet.
Jack looked at the spot you were once in trying to process your words. The two of you were done for and he fucked it up.
“Fuck!” Jack yelled and threw his phone at one of the seats on the plane before running his hands through his curls.
He fucked up, he fucked up bad and he knew there wasn’t any way in getting you back.

P3R while I was gone, part 2: featuring unnecessary romantic issues, ride or die, and the last full moon.
In the last two weeks before the end of everything, we visit Fuuka’s class next door, where Natsuki has an announcement to make!
Tumblr media
“Goodbye everyone, I’ll remember you all in therapy!” XD
More seriously, though, Fuuka is very upset. But they have a lovely conversation on the roof, and Natsuki promises to keep in touch. It helps Fuuka realize that she finally has real friends and a place to belong, and it leads to her persona evolving.
Juno is cool. ^_^ I like the wings.
Tumblr media
I spend my time after school with Bebe to finish off his social link. He’s taking the kimono back to France to show his uncle, in the hopes that he’ll be allowed to continue living in Japan.
Tumblr media
I’m not sure how leaving in the middle of the second semester works, but I guess it’s okay?
Considering Maiko, I’m starting to think most of my social links are going to end with people leaving. The bookshop couple didn’t, but like… they own the store. But anyone not specifically tied down has a chance of disappearing.
Tumblr media
….DANGER NOODLE! I was wondering if you were here!!
I’ve only got one ongoing nighttime social link, so I have some time for browsing the websites I’ve bought from the deep web informant. This time, we’re going to check out a blog that guarantees to increase the yield of my crops. ^_^
Tumblr media
……………….is… is this really the website link we bought from a sketchy dude in a club? God. At least it told me where to buy golden tomato sprouts.
The next day, we’re heading back to Tartarus to retrieve our monthly victims who wander in, as well as another cat!
Another one of my social links is in trouble, and it’s Maiko this time, which… how dare? That is a child?
Tumblr media
Maiko was supposedly moving away that day, so… I wonder if it’s always the same links that go missing, or if it’s random. Because both times, I’ve been warned of dire consequences if I don’t save them, but it’s also been people I’ve already maxed. So that’s kind of silly.
We’ve also found the last(?) memoir piece in Monad, which…
Tumblr media
Prince, huh? Does that make me the prince’s consort? :D
We had to leave Tartarus because we’ve reached another border floor. I GUESS we’ll never get to see what’s past it, since Tartarus is going to disappear after the next full moon. It’s SO SAD that we’ll never see the top. Can’t believe the game is almost over.
Lmao
Anyway, back to social linking and school. XD
Tumblr media
Never change, sensei.
I’ve been helping Yuko train some elementary schoolers to run a race against the middle-school kids who want to take over their play area. They tied their race and apparently made friends with the middle-schoolers, so we’re having a party to celebrate their success, even though they keep calling me Yuko’s boyfriend. I laughed it off, and so did Yuko.
Tumblr media
No problem! Your room’s nice. Cool stereo.
Tumblr media
We laughed that off, right???? So why are you asking me about whether I’d want my hypothetical kid to be a boy or a girl. In conjunction with talking about your future kids?
Tumblr media
Yeah, apparently picturing our future children. X’’’’D Look, Yuko, you’re great, and I’m glad you’ve discovered what kind of career path you want to take in the future. But I don’t think this is gonna work out.
I forgot that eventually I’m going to have to start turning down people developing crushes on me. It always makes me feel a little bad because I do like them, I just don’t want to date them?
(I want to date Mitsuru, but I’m not a ~*genius*~ yet.)
At least Aigis is having fun with her yakuza novels.
Tumblr media
After school the next day, I receive a call from Kenji, who is freaking the hell out.
Tumblr media
Dude, what the fuck. Were you just going around talking about this to people other than me? I thought it was a secret.
But the man in my dreams insists that I remember the consequences of my actions, so you should too. I don’t know what you expected to happen when you decided to court the ETHICS TEACHER. FFS, Kenji. Keep it together. I don’t even know if I can offer advice for this one.
At least Strega is having real problems.
Tumblr media
They grew up in a lab, with only each other. I can understand their feelings regarding that, at least. It’s the same sort of thing as with Goro in P5R. Removing the memories of those experiences would completely change who they are as people. Like, they’re not a good people, but the solution to that is not wiping everything and making them someone else.
Jin still remembers what Takaya told him, to get him through all of that.
Tumblr media
Taking that away would be… cruel.
But we can’t keep going like this, either.
There’s two days left, and only one of my Sunday social links is ready to rank up, so let’s go hang out with my track rival!
Tumblr media
...you know, at least you have parents and siblings. Mine are dead. Please don’t assume anything about me. :/
So now, at last, it’s the night before the finale! Time for one last team meeting. Everyone is grateful to me for being leader, and Mitsuru is finally willing to fess up what her real reason for fighting is. It’s not entirely about righting her family’s wrongs. It’s about protecting her father.
Tumblr media
She’s been doing this since probably even BEFORE middle school. No wonder she wants to bring an end to it so badly.
Well, we all know what’s coming. Strega is going to try to stop us. But we can’t stop now.
Tumblr media
Takaya, you’re still not wrong, but you’re being willfully ignorant of what the actual problem is.
Jin is a Fortune arcana, and his persona looks like a spinny dice. :D
Tumblr media
But there’s more of us than there are of them, so this was never really a contest, even if they are strong.
Tumblr media
I dunno if evokers are really “naturally awakened”, but… yeah. Forcing it isn’t good for you. That should be obvious.
Mitsuru wasn’t aware of the fact that the Kirijo Group was experimenting on people. Which, she was a child, so I’m not surprised. But based on the note Takaya gave me before, part of the reason to experiment on other kids was to make things safer for Mitsuru. So… we probably shouldn’t tell her that.
Tumblr media
I’m starting to think we don’t know a lot of things.
Takaya is willing to shoot himself with his real gun, but Jin stops him. Even if it’s just so he doesn’t go by himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They fall back over the side of the bridge, and then it’s just us and the final shadow.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I hate the Hanged Man. The fact that it’s being held up by hooks in its skin is gross. X’D The gimmick was interesting, though. It could give itself a bunch of extra turns, and it hit really hard. Not quite final-boss hard, but it was a challenging fight.
But we won!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We can go home content in the knowledge that the world is now safe from the Arcana Shadows.
Tumblr media
...I didn’t even know you could exist outside of the Dark Hour, honey. Wow. This is surreal.
What do you think of the sun? Have you ever seen it before? Have you seen it through me?
Tumblr media
Yeah. Things are good. ^_^
Tumblr media
……….
Can you at least tell me why you have to leave?? What did you remember? What ruined this miracle? I might need to know that?????
Tumblr media
If you cry, I’m going to cry.
I wish I could hug him, but… God forbid a protagonist be allowed to hug anyone. Except Yukari in Yakushima. X’’’’D
I’ll see you soon, Pharos. Love you.
