just submitted the last quiz i'll ever do for this course and i am sobbing. doing this course all year with @quotidian-oblivion has been an absolute privilege that i would redo the 032 quiz just to have it continue. this course has brought me and Quo so much closer together as we've realised just how much in common we have and I don't think we'd have the friendship we have without this class. quo's the reason i got back on tumblr and actually started using it and i am so grateful for her in so many ways. this course wouldn't have been nearly as fun without her and i would have drowned without her encouragement and rants on batfam and writing. this course has been a year of chaos and bonding and it has been a wild ride. so while we still have one more assessment to hand in we are still coming to the close of a wonderful shared experience. so thank you past me for applying to this course and thank you quo for being the best little sister a person could ask for.

This is gonna be a bit of a longer random thought, but bear with me, ok

So, you know how a pretty common trope for a story of a teenager is the MC being a little shit and a rebel, and their parents get mad at them, and the little fucker is like "what are you gonna do, huh? Take my phone? Ground me? I dare you to, bitch." And then the rich parent menacingly smiles and goes "no. I'm sending you to a [insert a random boarding school in the middle of nowhere, that is either prestige, or made to correct teens' behaviour (but non-abusive in this example I am talking about)]." And the teen immediately panics and is like "nooo, you can't do that, you're ruining my life!!!!" (And then they go to that school and live an adventure, blah blah blah, whatever, not important.)

What I am talking about is, I would've fucking died if my parents took my phone, I need that thing to live. BUT I would be perfectly fine being sent to a random boarding school. Like, what do you mean you don't wanna go to a completely new place where nobody knows you, so you can rebuild your whole personality and start a new life??? That is literally my biggest wish ever.

And of course, I am not the same person as those protagonists. First of all, I wouldn't even do anything bad enough to be sent away, my anxiety simply wouldn't allow me. But let's assume I did.

The main problem of these protagonists is that they have a tightly knitted group/gang with who they do their… illegal things I guess. And they obviously don't want to be separated from them, and they don't want to have to start forming new relationships from the scratch without having a support friend who they've known for a while. I don't have this problem. Sure, I have friends, but I've genuinely never really cared about a person. Let me elaborate.

I don't feel an emotional connection to anyone. I don't miss people. If I don't see a person for a few days, I often forget about them. I don't miss them. Being separated from people doesn't hurt me. Sure, there are a few people I care about - my parents, for example. But the reason I care about them is that they provide money, housing and food for me. I'm not emotionally dependent on them. Same goes for my friends - it comes in handy to be friendly with some people from my class, because they can send me notes, or tell me about what is happening at school (please note that I don't wish to exploit people. I also send them notes when they're sick or don't have them, and I wouldn't ask for something from them I wouldn't be willing to do for them. I'm scared of hurting people). But I don't have an emotional connection to them. I can live without them just fine.

So, if my parents offered to send me to a boarding school, I would definitely accept in hopes of building a new personality and completely fixing my life (but I'm not going to make an effort to get accepted to a boarding school myself, because… that's too much effort for me).

Uhh… I don't even know where I was going with this…

Well, I hope you enjoyed my little rant about how I wanna rebuild my life but I need a completely new environment and people to do that, and how I think I'm a bad person because I don't feel emotional connections to people :)
