Lowkey sitting in my office right now wishing that I could just be reading fanfiction in bed like I did when I was 14, full of life and joy, instead of absolute misery staring at an email I wish I didn’t have to answer.

Question to my fellow writers out there that post their writing on public forums/sites:
Have you ever gotten a comment or review that complained about character flaws, or perhaps the way you chose to portray a character as not being perfect?
I'm curious because a fic of mine recently (read in the last six months) got two comments from people who didn't seem to understand the idea of Character Development.
(And also didn't appear to read my Author's Note at the end, but that's beside the point.)
I didn't respond to either comment because I felt like it was one, a waste of time and two, I wasn't really sure what to say because "that's how stories work"?
Your characters have to learn and grow and develop as people and especially in this fic, yes I started with a lot of the traditional characteristics but this is supposed to be a series of stories. Not a one-shot. So of course the characters are not where I want them to be at the end.
Am I just crazy thinking this is weird or are people just that out of touch of character arcs and the like?

One of the greatest joys of fic writing is when you realise there is no "wrong" way. Everyone interprets characters different so you don't have to write them exactly the same as others do

So, short stories dump.
When I made a tumblr account I decided I would take the chance to post/list the short stories that I wrote and are already available online on my blog (do we still call them blogs?). Both to contribute to the social experience and to maybe get some new feedback.
They are currently all available on the excellent Bogleech website (@bogleech) which is a continue source of inspiration. I will make a link list for the time being but plan to post them directly on the site in the future. Maybe after I retouch some of the older entries.
The following are not all of my short stories but they are the ones I currently feel are sort of nice enough to pass around:
"I Suck at Humans"
"Morning Person"
"Fridge Problems"
"High Jack"
"Proadation"
"Roomspace"
"The Swimming Man"
"Not for Sale"
"Graveyard Slot"
"Heard a Buzz"
TW for light gore, horror, car accidents, please let me know if I missed any.
Enjoy, I hope.

so sorry if you've already answered something like this, but when speaking to people online, would you default to tu or Lei?
The online language is generally kept on a friendly level so it's fine to use "tu" (like for generally commenting under a post). When speaking with me, you can use "tu" no matter what is your age or anything. To me, formal language here it's just uncomfortable, as this "place" (internet, in general) should be a friendly/helping place (ofc I am well aware it's not always so, sadly) + I read many times that "online it's not necessary to be formal" so it kinda got wired into me.
Ofc, nowadays if you're online for work (especially if you work for someone else, unless you want to keep a low profile) or you're sure you're interacting with someone that is actually also doing their job (eg. you're answering a post or a video about an event), or in that precise situation this person is speaking about something job-related (as could do a doctor or something like that) it's probably more appropriate to use "Lei" (or Voi, for associations/groups...) and a formal language.
People have different approaches to the online world anyway, some prefer to use "Lei" when interacting with unknown people, no matter what. Tbh, I've been on the interner for quite a long time now, and in many cases I have had interaction with different type of people mostly using a friendly language. Only when I have worked for a couple of associations I got messages using a more formal language (but not even from everyone tbh, they were rare).
In the end... follow your guts. You won't be judged an irrespectful person for using informal speech online; and if you were to use formal speech, you'll be asked to be less formal after a few words if necessary :) (Despite it all, if you are a foreigner, we generally don't expect you to use formal language as it's a bit more complex in our view, so you can easily play this card too and just go informal.. nobody will be mad at all, just very pleased you write Italian)
