Good Vibes Jar
This was a practice I had used a long time ago, probably 7 years ago at this point. When walking around a local thrift store, my ex and I had found a jar full of little blue & yellow slips of paper that had inspiring thoughts or quotes written on them. After filtering through them to remove the scripture verses or particularly religious-inclined slips (and giving them to my LDS grandmother in a…

the partial list of good things that i came up with:
(once i started writing i couldn’t stop for a while and that made me feel better)
“Candles are good. Rain is good. Snow is good. I wish it would snow more. I love snow. Something good is that there are always good things to find! And dogs. Dogs are good. Dogs and flowers and stars and combat boots and leather jackets and textbooks and note cards and anonymous letters and best friends and socks and wind and matching outfits and novels and teachers and trombones and f#s and speakers and headphones and ukuleles and marches and jazz and jazz ballads and conducting and writing songs and playing guitar and music in general and new pens and journals and rambling lists and bad jokes and quotes and other people being talented and feeling like a kid and feeling like an adult and waking up early and sunrises and sunsets and taking way too many pictures and learning a language and watching people laugh and words and wow there are so many things. There are so many good things!! I love life.”
what are yours?

Listen, you should never film strangers in public without their consent, but I swear there need to be fines or something for people who do that shit in some spaces. For example: I had to go to the ER last night, and some jerk filmed a woman who just came in and was clearly having an asthma attack. She immediately got to go back, and he was unhappy about that. Believe me, I get that it sucks having to wait when you're in pain, but you don't get to pick who deserves care when. The medical system in the US is a nightmare, and the ER could be the worst moment of someone's life. No one deserves to be recorded because some jack ass believes someone doesn't look like they need care.
This is fine to reblog. People who film strangers should be shamed if nothing else.

i cannot stress enough how much of an impact changing the way you talk to yourself can have on your mental health. swapping out self deprecating jokes and changing unhealthy sentiments like "i hate myself" and "i want to die" to kinder, more forgiving ones like "i need a break" and "i'm trying" can make such a difference to how you view yourself. the things we say to ourselves become a part of our lives and so we deserve to me kinder to ourselves in our heads.

You do not owe your partner(s) sex. I mostly see this passed around in the asexual community, and it absolutely needs emphasis there, but this applies to anyone of any orientation. You never owe your partner(s) sex under any circumstance.
If your sex drive or libido is lower than your partner’s, you may feel obligated to “keep up” with them to make them happy. But you have a right to say no, or not be in the mood, or be too tired, or just not want to right now. Your partner(s) should respect your right to say no and your bodily autonomy.
If your partner(s) try to harass, manipulate, or coerce you into having sex when you say no, they’re an asshole. Having said yes in the past does not mean you can never say no. It is not your responsibility or obligation to provide sex. You do not need to violate your own boundaries to make someone else happy. Your partner(s) should respect your right to say no, and if they don’t, they don’t deserve you.
Your body belongs to you, and you decide what’s best for your sexual health. Happy Pride

i love positivity. not in a toxic way; feeling ALL of your emotions, even the sad ones, is important. but i love to look for the silver lining and focus on the good things. but in the last little while i’ve been feeling a little… down, i guess? but i’m still trying to have a positive outlook on life because i love to live that way. so i’m kind of in a state in between positive and a downhill mentality.
but anyways my favorite teacher does this thing where once a week we have to do this journal entry, where she gives us a prompt that is totally unrelated to the subject of the class and we just have to journal about it for a little bit. so today the prompt was simply “tell me something good.” i got really excited because i love life and so many things! but then i was sitting there, staring at an open document where nothing was coming to mind. usually my mind is full but i was just staring. and it was really scary because i was doing fine, i just couldn’t think of anything that was really good in my life. i sat there for like seven minutes just staring at it. it was scary.
but i finally came up with things! i think i’ll put those in another post though because this one is really long already

That girl seriously takes care of her self. I mean skincare routine, face massage, hair care, everything. She looks and smells so good.
That girl is so active, so healthy, and so strong.
That girl is insanely confident and loves herself sooo much. I can literally feel her amazing energy radiate from her!
That girl listens to her body and trusts herself.
Also, that girl is sooo obsessed with matcha and tea (I think she has a problem)

I don't know who needs to hear this, but: If you're a man -whether you've been one all your life or just recently started to notice within yourself the need to become one- that's enough.
You don't have to pass a test, there is no quiz, you don't have to check a minimum amount of gender role boxes. No one can tell you HOW to be a man. It doesn't matter how you look or how your body looks, how you talk, how you act, how you behave, what your sexuality is. You don't even have to fit in with the other guys. If being a man feels right for you, you can say "This is me and I'm a man".
The gender police will never knock on your door. Your gender is your own business and no one else's. No one can tell you what a man can or can't do. There is no wrong way to be a man. Be the kind of man you want to be, the kind that sparks joy. You can do it, bro. I believe in you.
