Listen, you should never film strangers in public without their consent, but I swear there need to be fines or something for people who do that shit in some spaces. For example: I had to go to the ER last night, and some jerk filmed a woman who just came in and was clearly having an asthma attack. She immediately got to go back, and he was unhappy about that. Believe me, I get that it sucks having to wait when you're in pain, but you don't get to pick who deserves care when. The medical system in the US is a nightmare, and the ER could be the worst moment of someone's life. No one deserves to be recorded because some jack ass believes someone doesn't look like they need care.
This is fine to reblog. People who film strangers should be shamed if nothing else.

I wish people would stop adding qualifiers and caveats to why RWBY isn't perfect and just embrace it's a good show that deserves to be continued.

Thinking about Ruby letting go of "A mother's promise" and keeping a mother's love.

I did want to say for this blog, I don't see much changing. I still love the show, the characters, and the crew who tried their best to give us a show made from passion and love. IF (and it's a big if) it does get sold, and retains the same core crew, it might even be for the better given what we know of the conditions some of the animators have been though with RT. I truly want to believe it will, even though given WB's track record, there's no reason for the belief other than I want it to be true.
I'm thankful for all the friends I have made along the way, and I'll still at least keep a queue going for the foreseeable future.
Take care everyone, 💜

Based on the promo and what we’ve seen of Ruby so far, I need a return to Oobleck’s questions about why each of them wanted to be a huntress. What drives you now? Where do you see your life going? What are you going to do?
Give me that sweet, sweet introspection and character growth.

I am still thinking about the first thing Ruby says is to Weiss and it was about getting back home, cause I can't stop thinking about Weiss's face.
Tumblr media
Yeah, Weiss has been the one to keep pushing they need to get home and trying to move them alone to that goal, but what home? Cause Weiss already told you she doesn't have one. "It’s…it’s all gone. There’s nothing left for me to go back to." Getting back home is the HOPE her family is still there, and for the rest of the team!
Ruby's there with her when she says "I am so tired of leaving places in ashes."
Tumblr media
You watched her as she watched the destruction of her home and walk away.
And I love the very human reaction from Ruby to go right where it's going to hurt the most. And I wish I had more insight to know if it was intentional or not, because is the lashing out her wanting the others to be mad at her because she views herself as a failure? Is it because she feels like this is her burden alone and they honestly wouldn't understand? Or some combination? I really hope we get to find out.
"I don't know loneliness like you do. I have my own version."

I love the visual story telling with Weiss and us only getting to see the back of her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We got it twice last episode anytime someone asked her about what happened after they fell.
Tumblr media
It’s…it’s all gone. There’s nothing left for me to go back to. Just like Beacon.
While Weiss has largely been the comic relief, she also knows she has nothing now. Her original home is gone. Beacon, her other home and place of safety, gone. What is even left for Weiss back on Remnant?
Tumblr media
But it wasn’t enough. We hatched a crazy plan that put a whole kingdom at risk, and we don’t even know if we saved the relics from…
Maybe Jaune and Winter were able to get them out, despite everything…despite us.
I mentioned before I wonder if Weiss has realized it was her wording that caused help not to come back. I think she might be picking up on it if she didn’t. She’s shouldering so much blame for not being able to do enough to stop Cinder or do anything for Penny. The focus on Myrtenaster with her being low on dust, something that is also gone for her when they get back. Another reminder her home, and everything she wanted for her future are gone. Not only did she fail, she feels useless now. What more can she do but be frustrated at the absurdity of their current situation?
It really feels like the camera is not allowing the audience to see Weiss’s shame and sadness and I truly love it.

Don't get me wrong, RT shutting down we pretty much saw coming. I still hope because RW.BY was received so well it might still make it, but given WB's leadership, it is hard to have hope.
Hopefully, it goes without saying of download that you can since WB has no issue just deleting shit from existence when they don't want it anymore. :,)

Honestly I do love knowing that it was Lewis that wrote the book because it was him that called the Rusted Knight handsome.

There's still so much on my mind, but this show literally changed my life so much. I've met friends I've had for years now, got the confidence to cosplay at all, eventually cospalyed Blake, got to carry a Yang cosplayer as Blake ;), took the name Blake, and thankful I had the opportunity to travel and meet the VAs. It's just brought so much joy to my life, and I'd hate for it to really be done.

Still thinking about how many romances, especially queer romances, seem to basically begin and end with a confession/kiss. We've got to a point where we do sometimes get a happy ever after, but rarely anything after. We get to see how Blake and Yang deepen and develop their relation. We get to see the new dynamic within the Team comes together. We get to see the casual intimacy and even more loving looks. I'm so excited to see more, and it's so amazing to me their story gets to keep going.

It's wild to me prior to this volume people joked about "therapy island", but when met with it don't seem to understand what Ever After has been on the whole?
Being your best self, and for Afterans fulfilling your purpose, has been there from the start. The Blacksmith outright said "The only thing that can happen to you here is what you want to happen the choice of what you become and where you end up is yours to make.... You don't know what you want, do you?" Everything they ask is not a judgement of Ruby, but a clarification of intent and goals. Some people have been real literal with the weapons, but their manifestation seems to come from Ruby "Weapons are extensions of ourselves" Rose. It is both a reflection of her, and being a Huntress.
In Herb's visions (which we know are connected to the tree and the leaves), they were all confronted with their old selves, which they'd all grown from. And it can be hard to here who you once were saying you can go back, more so if you're like Ruby and view your current self as a failure who is worse off than in the past while everyone else believes they are better.
In the Punderstorm they all had to face something they unconsciously or not want to address. Jaune tells them they can just wait it out and keep moving forward so they do, him never acknowledging his younger self and Penny, Weiss taking a moment to see Atlas fall but choosing to walk away, and Ruby trying so hard to focus on the task and her friends she doesn't see Summer. Even if they want to address their problems, they aren't ready in that moment. You can't force people to address things when they aren't ready (hence Ruby's breakdown later). The bees were never forced to confess either since, again, this was something they both WANTED to talk about even if Yang was scared and Blake was going to wait until she was ready. Sometimes there's no good moment, and sometimes you're already falling off that cliff so you might as well embrace it.
The Cat, while being unreliable in their intentions, never seems to have lied about more general aspects of Ever After and Ascension. It is a good thing for Afterans that is both a death and not. The heart still remembers even if they change into something else and change their purpose, something we get to see later with the Genial Gems. You can rebuild not only yourself, but rebuild from the ashes (or flood) of a destroyed home (Weiss).
"And how would you measure 'enough'?"
"Enough" for Ruby has always been living up the the idea of Summer. To Ruby, being Ruby was never going to be enough. Ascension for Ruby is finding out who SHE is, not necessarily making a choice to change. The choice to reaffirm who you are and that you are enough is always a choice. That Ruby Rose has been, and will always be enough. That the burden that needs to be laid down is the one you've (understandably) placed on yourself out of the idea of who your mother was.
"What is it to 'Ruby Rose'?"

I could be way off base, but I have been thinking about this since she said this and trying to figure out what moral? At the time, the best they could figure would be to follow Alyx’s path, but not make the mistakes she made. We now know not only was the story changed from what Jaune was there for, but Alyx wasn’t like the girl who’s in the story.
If there is some “moral” to be learned here, I did wonder if it was to respect and understand different people. Because that’s something up until this current chapter NONE of our main cast have done. RW.BY have been operating out of a story with people as a means to an end. They aren’t really people in their own right, just a way to progress forward. They never really ask anything about the Afterans, outside of asking Curious about ascension, and it’s not like they are a reliable source of information since they seem to have the ability to influence Afteran’s will and only will answer what is asked.
Jaune mentioned that Alyx was cruel and didn’t think the rules applied to her, and while they’ve not been cruel about it we’ve not seen anyone from Remnant treat the Afterans like actual people until (R)WBY listens to the Paper Pleasers. @professorspork spoke about Blake caring about the Paper Pleasers and speaking up for them, and it’s really the first time any of them think about the lives of the people there and not just getting home… Not that Jaune or Ruby agree that they are people.
Just because it’s a fairy-tale to them doesn’t mean it’s not real to the people there. It doesn’t mean they don’t have full lives, even if the visitors of Remnant don’t understand or agree with their culture. Ever After has shown Blake specifically that her culture is very important to her, and if there is some moral to be gained by Blake in this “story” is that understanding different cultures only enhances everyone and leads to greater cooperation. Almost like that’s a goal of hers...
