The Astronomy Tower
Part One Draco Malfoy x Potter Reader
Even though you were Harry's twin you led very separate lives, different friends, and different focuses but one thing you had in common was that Draco Malfoy couldn't stand you. Or at least he acted like that…
Tumblr media
*°*°•.˜”*°•.˜”*°•.˜”*°••°*”˜.•°*”˜.•°*”˜.•°*”°*
When Harry got his Hogwarts letter you were surprised to see you didn't also receive one. He said it must have been a mistake andager wrote to you saying that you couldn't be a squib, it just didn't seem like you. You and Harry had always been together, you couldn't remember a time where you weren't but when Harry entered his second year you received a letter from Albus Dumbeldore himself through Harry. He detailed how it hadn't been the right time for you to join the wizarding world but that it soon would be.
You joined the school the following year as a third year and you were already behind. In addition to that stress, you were often seen as the same novelty Harry was when he first arrived. “A Potter twin?”, “Where has she been all this time?”. You learnt to ignore it and decided to meld into the student body as well as you could. You didn't struggle, like Harry when he first began learning magic you showed a great and immediate proficiency. Some said even better than Harry himself.
You kept to yourself for the first few months with late nights in the library being a regular occurrence, learning every charm you could to speed up the process whether that was to carry books or write notes. It didn't take as long as you expected, given that the first three years at Hogwarts were not as advanced. You had a particular penchant for defense against the dark arts and adored astronomy- often finding yourself staring up at stars more than anything else.
After your ability began to show you expanded into the quidditch team and this was your first experience with Draco. After you and Harry had fought for an appropriate amount of time about who would be the Gryffindor seeker during the first game of the season against Slytherin, Oliver Wood had to step in and tell you to “pull yourselves together and flip a knut”.
After three rounds you eventually won and gave a smug smile in Harry's direction. The game was going well for both teams but, always ambitious, you wanted that snitch. You'd never met Draco before now, only heard stories or seen him around sometimes, but that game you were chasing one another in and out of the structures of the Quidditch ground. It was exhilarating as you followed the white hair of the boy in front of you, at one point the both of you ended up above the ground looking down for the snitch. There was a moment when you looked at eachother and it was oddly quiet, looking just past Draco you saw a glint of gold and moved towards him as he looked dumbfounded as you got closer. But you reached out and caught the snitch just past his ear, raising your eyebrow at him and smiling.
From that moment on you were convinced Draco wanted you dead. It wasn't without reason, you enjoyed showing him up after all the bullying of your brother. But he didn't start retaliating until you got into fifth year.
When Draco became a member of the God awful Inquisitorial Squad, he would not leave you alone. When you were slightly late for a class, ate in the library or anything else he would dock you house points. When one day you were using a charm to carry more books and accidentally bumped into him, he took 20 house points! You'd finally had enough of him and decided that in your next class you would partner up with him and ruin his life.
Your next opportunity was a potions class you got to incredibly early. You stood at the desk Draco always worked at, a little etching on the top of the table reading DM 1994 made you smirk to yourself. When Draco finally got to the class he looked incredibly confused why you were sitting where his partner Blaise usually did but let it slide-assuming you wouldn't dare break any rules.
“What are you doing here, Potter?” He asked with a venom in his voice you didn't have the energy to muster.
“Wanted to be closer to the blackboard.” You smiled sweetly at him, hoping he would let his guard down. He looked at you curiously but sat down next to you all the same.
Snape wanted you to create a Wiggenweld Potion which for a class of fifth years was not complicated and more muscle memory. Making it the perfect time to sabotage Malfoy, messing up a simple potion would surely ruin his day and perhaps be explosive…
As you all got started you pretended to look over your textbook whilst pulling your wand out of your sleeve and whispering the confundus charm. You coughed after doing it to try and disguise it as much as you could but as the charm took effect Draco looked too focussed on his “great new idea to make this potion”. If you had done the charm correctly Draco's cauldron would soon be bubbling over and then become slightly explosive, if he just added a bit more flobberworm mucus and turned up the heat.
“Malfoy, it's bubbling over!” Goyle exclaimed almost on cue.
“Shut it! I know what I'm doing!” The ever obstinate Draco insisted. He added 4 more drops of the mucus and then you were both thrust backwards with the strength of the explosion that occurred. An acute explosion of force just as you had planned. You didn't realise the force would send you both back into a wall or that it would hurt so much, but regardless you got what you wanted.
“Malfoy!” Snape bellowed at the top of his voice his cloak billowing in his wake as he approached the two of you.
“Y/n!” Harry called as he ran over to you, crouching at your side he pulled you to your feet and sat you down at his potion station. “What happened?” He asked.
“Oh, nothing….” You tried to hide your smug look but couldn't help it and Harry rolled his eyes.
“It's because of the house points isn't it?” He looked at you with a smirk and you nodded. “Sir, may I take my sister to the infirmary, she feels dizzy?”
“Yes, yes. I need to deal with this ridiculousness here anyways.” Snape looked down at Draco who was sitting against the wall with a spattering of orange over his face.
“You're diabolical.” Harry told you as you left the classroom, he couldn't help but laugh.
“Well, he shouldn't have crossed someone as clever as me, Hermione would have done the same.” You shrugged.
“Will he know it was you?” Harry sat down on a bench at the bottom of the nearest staircase.
“Even if he does he can't prove it, I was in the blast too so how silly would it look if he complained about me. It was his poor potion making skills.” running a hand over your face you looked down at your orange palm, “Oh shit, is my face-”
“Orange. Yes,” Harry burst out laughing and you punched his arm. “I was wondering how long it would take to notice.”
Later that evening you put on the invisibility cloak that you and Harry shared and headed to the astronomy tower. It was a regular occurrence for you but especially when you couldn't sleep, you had never got into any trouble or even really seen anyone but with Umbridge about the worthwhile to take the cloak.
You stared up at the stars, dreaming of Hippogriffs and Thestrals as you gazed. It felt like the only peaceful part of the whole school, even more so than your door room- that you shared with someone who sometimes sounded like a troll as she slept. Breathing in and out deeply you relaxed your brain and let it go blank for a moment
“Well, doesn't my luck just overflow. Another Potter copying me.” You jumped out of your skin but clamped a hand over your mouth so you didn't scream.
“Malfoy! What the fuck?” You hissed and he raised an eyebrow.
“She speaks! My potion saboteur has a voice?” He took a few steps closer to you until you were meters away from one another.
“Potion saboteur? I was caught in that blast too! Or had you forgotten I was injured due to your idiocy?” You lied, surprisingly convincingly.
“You're really going to stick with that?” Draco asked as he took another step closer.
“What else would I say?” You learnt backwards onto the railings.
“Well I know you charmed me, I wouldn't fuck up such a basic potion like that.” Draco walked up to the railings and looked out on the Black Lake.
“Why are you here, Malfoy?” You felt it was acutely important to change the subject.
“I come here every now and then. Used to be my private little haunt but I see you've infiltrated that.” His voice didn't sound angry, just that he was observing your behavior.
“Do you think you own every part of the school!” You said loudly, finally exasperated.
“I could own all of it if I fancied it!” Draco returned even louder.
Then a door opened and the two of you went wide eyed. Thinking as quick as you could you pulled Draco closer to you and wrapped you in the invisibility cloak. In your haste you had tripped backwards and pulled Draco with you, he was basically sitting on you. Professor Sinastra came upstairs from her office and looked around for a bit but soon went back down. You pushed Draco off you and he let out a very displeased noise.
“Did you really have to sit on me?” You hissed, taking off the cloak and holding it bunched up in one hand.
“So the Potters have an invisibility cloak?” Draco raised his eyebrow again and it enraged you.
“I will end you Malfoy,” you stood and stepped closer to Malfoy until you were almost chest to chest. The anger in your blood was beginning to be replaced by a feeling in your stomach you didn't get too often.
“I would love to see you try.” He whispered, his lips parting slightly. You noticed how his hair shone in the moonlight and you felt like making a comment that it looked like he was balding but you chose not too.
“I might be quieter than my brother but do not mistake that for a lack of experience.” You turned to leave but Malfoy put his hand on your hip and turned you back to him.
“If you want to meet me back here again, I wouldn't oppose it.” It was a tone of voice you had never heard him use before, like for the first time he was afraid of rejection.
“Why would you want to meet me here?” You asked, not resisting his hand.
“I think you're bright enough to figure it out.” he said softly before squeezing your waist and walking off.

Hello can I request draco with a gryffindor reader who happens to be the daughter of both Ares and Aphrodite. How would her parents react when their daughter wanted to marry a former death eater after the battle of hogwarts?
ungodly romance ~ draco malfoy
my masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being the daughter of two Gods came with many difficulties.
With your status came responsibilities, obligations and burdens. Things were expected of you, you needed to reflect well on your parents and your kind.
Studying at Hogwarts had been your way out, your one place where you could be yourself without people breathing down your neck, without being judged for every little thing that you would do. It was your escape.
After the Battle of Hogwarts, that place had forever disappeared from your life. You were back in your closed-off world, living to please the people around you, make them proud and give them someone to show-off and brag about.
However, there was one person whom you reconnected with that gave you your freedom back.
Draco Malfoy.
During the war, you had had to cut off contact with him because of your opposing positions in the war, your parents having forbidden you from associating with Death Eaters or anyone who might tarnish their stellar reputation, as a matter of fact.
You and Draco had just secretly started dating before the war broke out, cutting contact being the most hurtful thing you've had to do. Having just found someone to love you for who you were, and immediately having to let them go.
When you reconnected after the war, it seemed like two pieces of a puzzle reunited after a long time without each other. You finally felt like you were at home again, safe and sound in the arms of the one you loved.
There was just one problem.
Your parents.
The fear that crippled your heart at the thought of them meeting Draco was paralyzing. You knew how they felt about Death Eaters, and despite Draco leaving those days behind, that wouldn't matter to them. He would still be evil in their eyes.
Draco was the one who insisted that he meet them. He was positive that he could change their minds and make them see that he was good for you, that those days were long behind him and he wasn't evil at heart as they had concluded.
You weren't so sure, but you figured you had nothing more to lose. The worst your parents could do was lock you away for good, but it wasn't anything that you hadn't previously been through.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" you asked Draco for the twentieth time as you stopped before the grand door that sat in front of you.
You had been very evasive with details about your boyfriend when you told your parents you would be bringing him to dinner, which sparked their curiosity even more.
But not in a good way.
"Love, we have to get this done. We can't hide away forever" he caressed your cheek, sensing how nervous you truly were.
"Yes, we can. There's nothing stopping us. They don't care about my life anyway, and I know what they're going to say already. This is all really unnecessary" you tried to reason with him, trying to convince him just how bad this idea was in your eyes.
"I want to meet your parents, and regardless of what they say, I'm not giving up on us. Whatever comes our way, we'll deal with it together" looking into his gray eyes, you felt comfort.
Without realizing it, you found yourself nodding and taking his hand, finally entering the place you had been dreading to enter for the past few days.
Immediately, as soon as you stepped foot into the house, servants bombarded you left and right, not even sparing Draco a second glance as they focused on you.
"Master and Mistress are awaiting you in the grand ballroom" one of the servants informed you before disappearing with the others into another room.
You glanced once more at Draco before letting out a big breath, and beginning your journey towards the ballroom.
Once stopped in front of the entrance, you raised your hand to knock, but the doors opened on their own before you got the chance.
"Hello Mother, hello Father" you greeted your parents, both of them conversing with their backs turned to you.
"Sit" your mother's sweet yet icy voice spoke, not turning around yet.
You glanced at Draco with the corner of your eyes, but followed suit nonetheless.
Both of you took a seat next to each other, clearing your throat and keeping your hand clasped in his.
Your parents, Ares and Aphrodite, God of war and Goddess of love and beauty, now stood facing you, eyeing you down wearily. You were accustomed to their intense gaze, but it hurt Draco to look at them.
"Who have you brought here?" your mother asked, her eyes scanning your boyfriend.
By the way she was looking at him, you could already sense her suspicion.
"This is my boyfriend, Draco. Draco, these are my parents"
"It's an honor to meet you both," Draco said nervously.
Your father stared him down, cracking his knuckles.
"What is this young man doing in my house? Do you have no respect for us? Don't you know what he did in the war?" the booming voice of your father echoed off the walls, his fist hitting the long table that stood between you.
You didn't even flinch, accustomed already to his outbursts. There was a reason why he was the God of war, after all.
Clearing your throat, you held your head high and looked at your father.
"I am aware of Draco's actions during the war, but I am also aware of the fact that he did not participate willingly in any of them. He was being forced by his father, who is now residing in Azkaban for his crimes. I know you despise the lot, but Draco is not like them. He never was and he never will. I ask of you that you give him a chance and get to know him before making any judgements" your father was fuming, but you could your mother smiling from the corner of your eyes.
She had always encouraged you to fight for the ones you love, and this was the first time you had really stood up to your father like this.
"I don't want to hear this right now" he turned around and stormed out of the room, something you had known was going to happen.
"Don't worry, my dear. I will speak to your father. Draco, consider yourself welcomed to the family" your mother caressed his shoulder before graciously following after your father.
Left alone in the room, you let out a big sigh of relief, not quite believing what had just happened.
"I told you so" Draco teased, bumping your shoulders.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all.

“I don’t see what you all see in him.. he’s still an asshole..” you muttered as the slytherin prince walks passed your group of friends
“but he’s hot” your friend murmured as they noticed him look over
“and rich”
“and he smells good..”
he sends a wink to the group and every girl in the vicinity just about dropped their pants
basically anyone who even thought the prince was attracted dropped their pants
all except for you
he’s rude
he’s arrogant
he’s narcissistic
but all is forgiven because he’s good-looking, his family’s got money and he has proper hygiene?
who’s this slytherin prince that all of these simps are drooling over?
draco
lucius
malfoy
you couldn’t be bothered by someone like him
you’d rather spend your time with someone who was the complete opposite of that self-centered, self-proclaimed “prince”
someone like harry potter
or so you thought
the more you hanged out with him
the more predicable he was
you wanted some spice in your life and all he was giving you was sugar
there’s nothing wrong with sugar but he was literally giving you diabetes and you could feel your arteries just clogging up
“hey y/n”
you knew by the cheery yet mellow tone of voice that it was harry
your friends nudged at you before leaving
“hiya harry” you sighed through a smile, “what can I do for you?”
you can tell he was nervous, he’s probably going to ask you out to get some sweets at honeydukes or madam puddifoot’s tea shop or sometime of the sort
“did you want to go to honeydukes some time this weekend? or maybe even madam puddifoot’s tea shop?”
bingo
you got up from your spot
brushing off some invisible dust to try to shoo off the unwavering tension in the air
“harry.. can I be honest?”
you could see his bright eyes slowly dull and his sweaty hands hide in the pockets of his robes
he nods
you tried to look anywhere but into his sadden eyes
“you’re... you’re not the guy for me, harry.. and I know there’s a girl out there who’s just waiting for you to be in her life but..”
at this moment you felt like you owed him a sincere eye contact moment
“..it’s not me.. it’s just not me..”
“yeah. sure. no worries. don’t worry about it...”
you could see him ramble; a mix of awkwardness and him not wanting to show how upset he really was
“harry.. you’re a great guy...you really are...”
you were almost whispery, scared to shatter his broken heart even more
“but not for you”
you nodded at your feet
“but not for me” you repeated
not wanted to look up at the boy that you left smashed and shattered
“I’ll be okay, y/n.. honest.. don’t look so sad.. I’m just glad that you were able to tell me now versus later down the line..”
you couldn’t stop thinking about the pitiful state you left harry in
he literally needed his friends to carry him away
it made you think about what kind of relationship you wanted to be in
what kind of guy you wanted to be in your perfect fairytale
because if it wasn’t with harry
who else could it be with?
while lost in your thoughts, you accidently bumped into someone
books and papers where scattered everywhere but there was no one else in the halls but you and the person you bumped into
you were already frantically trying to pick up their things
“oh I’m so sor-”
“ARE YOU BLIND?!”
their loud voice ran over yours and you already knew who it was
you scoffed in immediate irritation
“excuse me, malfoy? if I’m blind, so are you! you also bumped into me! what makes you think you can walk in the middle of the hall like you own the place and not watch where you’re going?”
draco didn’t realized that he bumped into you
he was so close to you
so close that he could see every single lash that flared up to the ceiling
so close that he could hear your soft, angelic breaths
so close that he could kiss you if he wanted to
of course he wanted to
sure, you were a hufflepuff
but ever since he first saw you, he thought you were different
you were kind but strong-minded, strong-willed
you seemed like you were prim and proper, you didn’t care if you got your hands dirty
you had the qualities of a hufflepuff but you could’ve gone to any house and fit right in
and of course, he thought you were absolutely stunning
he even deemed you the princess of the entire school
the missing piece to his set; the princess that the prince needed
if only he could voice that thought
he never could though, he’d never let anyone know his deepest and darkest daydreams
“it’s cause I do own these halls, sweetheart..”
you frowned at his attempt to swoon you
“sorry, I didn’t know you were the headmaster albus dumbledore.. next time I see a head of white hair, I’ll make sure to walk the other way..”
you dropped his belongings on the ground and began to walk away from him
“aren’t you going to help me, y/n?” draco called out to you, wondering why you weren’t infatuated with him like everyone else
“they’re your things in your halls.. apparently... pick it up yourself!” you shouted without looking behind you
what a snobby brat, you thought
but what a shame... he really is attractive up close
after your run-in with draco, you couldn’t stop thinking about what if you were like the other girls
the girls who were infatuated with him
the girls who wanted a chance with him
would you want to?
maybe he isn’t the same person as he’s portraying to the public eye
at the same time, draco was thinking about why didn’t you call him by his first name like all the girls who are smitten by him and how he was going to get you to fall for him
how could you not?
he scratched at his head trying to figure out reasons why you didn’t like him
did you not like rich, successful, smart and handsome guys?
did his breath smelled at that moment?
were his grey eyes too grey?
was his platinum blonde hair too platinum?
he was so frustrated, he ran to his friends in the great hall for advice
“hey you lot, what are my flaws?”
draco slammed his hands on the slytherins’ table where his friends all sat
“are you okay, draco?” pansy fawned over the blonde boy
blaise chuckled
“yeah, draco.. did you hit your head or somethi-”
“I’m fine! just answer my questions.. what are some reasons someone might not like me?”
his friends all looked at each other, worried that what they say might set him off
“okay but you can’t get mad,” theo said with stern eyes
“yeah yeah yeah.. go on... what are they?” draco didn’t know what he was getting himself into
“you can be... a bit mean..” crabbe didn’t even dare to make eye contact with the agitated blonde
“and a bit self-centered,” goyle chimed in
“you’re an ass and a pain in everyone’s asses”
blaise shouldn’t have said that with a smile on his face
“you think you’re all that but you’re not,” theo and blaise were just happy that they got to shit on draco to his face
“I think you’re perfect,” pansy tried to hide her blushing smile
“that’s not what asked of us, pansy..” blaise was so done with her
“yeah chill out, he’s not even interested in you..” theo joined in
he was literally just there for the banter
pansy just slumped back into her seat when she noticed draco wasn’t even going to deny that he was interested in her
“speaking of interested, what’s your sudden interest in what other people think of you anyways draco?”
blaise always knew there was an underlying reason draco did anything and he was gonna get to the bottom of it
“none of your business,” draco muttered as he shuffled away
“what a weirdo..” theo chuckled as he went back to his dino chicken nuggets
if his friends thought about this of him, what would people he didn’t like think of him?
he wanted to show you his good side, his best side
not the side that everyone saw
he wanted to show the side that he hid away to his friends and even his parents
the closet romantic who just wants someone who will love his flaws and enhance his good qualities
as if luck was on his side, you were right there, walking along side your friends
you were irritated by your friends because you told them about your run-in with draco and all they could talk about was how lucky you were
and as if bad luck was on your side, draco malfoy stopped right in front of you and your friends
“hey y/n.. I was wondering if..” he had to take a breath in the middle of his sentence, “I was wondering if you wanted to help me study for our potions quiz tomorrow?”
“why are you asking me like someone made you ask me? don’t you have other friends to help you study, malfoy?” you snapped
“draco, I can study with you!”
“I’m free too, draco!”
your friends started chiming in while closing in on him
hoping for a chance to get any essence of draco malfoy
you were slowly closing into the background but you didn’t care, you didn’t want to be near him
he probably liked the attention anyways
to your surprise, he weaved his way through the crowd to get to you
the only attention he wanted was yours
“I really wanted to ask you because you are one of the top students in our class and I could learn a lot from you..”
like a flick of a wand, you saw draco in a different light
you could catch a baby blue sliver of hope in his eyes that twinkled
is it possible for eyes to even twinkle like that?
is it possible to even trust him?
did he have any ulterior motives?
if there was any, you couldn’t find it.. not in those eyes anyways
“I don’t even know if I can even help you study in a day...” you furrowed your brows but your voice was soft
you kind of wished that he just said, alright, and walk away
“if anyone can teach me in a day, I know it’s you... I mean.. you managed to help cedric with his OWLs and he passed.. or so I heard...”
draco kept his eyes down for the most part but occasionally looked up to take a peek at you and was shuffling his feet against each other
have you ever seen draco shuffle his feet before or even for anyone?
a day with draco malfoy wouldn’t be so awful, right?
“I’ll meet you after dinner in the library.. if you aren’t there by 9pm.. don’t even think about asking me to help you study ever again..” you spoke firmly, you didn’t want him thinking that he can easily take advantage of you
the bell rung for students to get to class
“I won’t be late, y/n! I promise!” draco lit up and started walking away to make sure he wasn’t late to class
but then as soon as you turned your back to draco, he was running back towards you
“wait y/n!”
you were taken aback by his sudden appearance and how close he was to you
he took your hands into his and placed a chaste kiss onto your knuckles, “thank you.. I really mean it.. can’t wait to see you later..”
and as fast as he appeared, he disappeared
if he didn’t leave as fast as he did, you would probably catch his redden cheeks and ears
he felt like a giddy schoolgirl (he probably looked like it too)
but he didn’t care
you, on the other hand, were conflicted by your prior feelings of him and the feelings you had for him now
you didn’t want to deal with your friends bickering about how you got his attention so you blocked them out and made your way to your class
why was draco so interested in you all of a sudden?
did he actually have feelings for you?
should you even try to go for the impossible?
should you even try to go for someone as rude, arrogant and narcissistic as draco lucius malfoy?
with all of these uneasy feelings, class was the only thing that could put any of your feelings aside and focus on something else
that’s what you thought
you couldn’t stop thinking about his twinkly grey eyes, his platinum blonde hair and his...
why were you even thinking about him in divination class?
“my dear...” professor trelawney reached out to you
“you will see that there’s an apple high on a tree, unattainable and basking in it’s glory.. but you have to work for it.. if you want a taste.. only then, you will be happy.. but my dear if you give up... you’ll never know if the apple is truly sweet or sour... and you’ll continue life without knowing, if the apple was worth it or not...”
you looked at her in confusion (also kind of weirded out)
you just nodded so that she’d go bother someone else
leaving you to marinate about what she just said
was she really just talking about an apple or was it an analogy for your current inner conflicts with the slytherin prince?
to be continued...

Today was the day, you waited for Hermione at the normal spot on Platform 9¾. This morning you got dressed quickly in a blue blouse and black pelleted skirt, your mother always swore that you dressed as if Ravenclaw was more than just your house but your whole wardrobe. You were more than a half-hour earlier than the past couple of years due to your excitement. Taking a seat with your things and your two animal companions, Lyra your cat, and Hawthorn your owl, you began to go over what you know about the coded book to pass the time. Looking over what you know, it becomes clear that Merlin may have originally written in code to protect what he found from dark wizards.
Given that Morgan le Faye was one of the most powerful witches, a dark one at that, and a part of Authur's court it made the most sense for such caution but the more you looked at the code the more confusing it got. Once you were at Hogwarts you'd have access to all your code and cipher books again but until then you had to work with what you remember. The first thing about any code was to check for repeating words which you found quickly when Draco first presented the tome and journals to you.
Now all you had to do was figure out which words were part of the code and which were filler, you sighed as you looked over the passage you had copied. What words truly didn’t belong and which were the true code yet to be deciphered? As you sat there confused at your notes you didn’t hear the soft footsteps on the tile making their way towards you.
“We aren’t even on the train yet and you are already studying without me,” Hermione dressed in her normal casual clothes said as she set Crookshanks down to play with Lyra before sitting down next to you.
“Studying without you, never” closing your notebook before turning to look at Hermione, “Just a little puzzle Draco gave me to keep my mind extra sharp to beat you at the History of Magic, again,” you said as you hugged your her.
“I doubt Malfoy can help you beat me at anything, but I’ll take your word for it. Since you two are totally not into each other or anything of the sort,” she said as she looked down at the pen Draco got you for last Christmas.
“Hey now look who’s talking. You spent most of the summer at the Weasley’s and all you did other than fight with Ron was think about him,” you said crossing your arms as your cheeks turned red.
“Well he’s just being difficult and an oaf,” Hermione said as she looked down at the floor while blushing “Besides its not like we don’t hang out a lot we are practically glued to each other once Harry is around.” Saying as she looks up at you as another friend starts approaching from behind you as Hermione scowls at them.
“Well I think the three of you need to-AHH” you were cut off as someone tickled your sides from behind as you elbowed them in the stomach hearing them groan.
Hermione couldn’t help but chuckle as she saw Draco Malfoy dressed in an all-black suit hunched over holding his stomach as a ‘punishment’ for sneaking up and tickling you.
“Not funny Granger,” Draco said as he looked at the Gryffindor annoyed before he then Y/n turned around and looked at him, “Merlin’s sake Y/n that hurt.”
“Haven't I told you not to sneak up on me Draco,” you said jokingly as you got up and helped him sit down next to you. “Don’t you remember what happened last time someone did that?”
“I remember. I remember.” He said as he sat down on the small bench with you and Hermione as he leaned his head back groaning in pain.
“Says the one who didn’t learn from it and did it anyway,” Hermione said as she rolled her eyes. It was no secret that Hermione didn’t much care for Draco but in recent years he had become tolerable since she saw firsthand how different he was with you around.
“Last I remember I didn’t scare her, it was that Weasbee and Pottah,” Draco said as he looked over at Hermione with an amused expression, “I remember that I was working with Y/n in potions like always and Weasbee thought it would be a grand idea to try and take her wand while she was adding to the potion but he bumped her and then the potion blew up.” He said chuckling lightly before groaning again as his stomach still hurt.
“Ron bumped into her because Goyle and Crabbe behave like toddlers, you insufferable blonde ferret,” Hermione argued as you rolled your eyes at your two friends fighting like siblings.
"Hey now Harry dared Ron to do it," you tried to say before Hermione took out her frustration on Draco.
“Ferret? Why am I a ferret?” He said while sitting up and looking at both Hermione and Y/n as she shrugged her shoulders just as confused as he was.
"Because you are a spoiled, privileged, know-it-all trickster who up until two years ago was a bully toward me and so many other students," Hermione said as she looked at the blonde shooting daggers.
"And I've apologized for it," Draco said slightly pissed off as he looked from you to Hermione "I know I wasn't exactly the best these past couple of years," Draco said calmly as he looked over at Hermione before looking at you sadly as he knew that you hated the fighting. "I'm trying my best to make up for what I've done."
"I understand that Malfoy, but just because you are taking the right steps doesn't mean everyone will be quick to forgive you," Hermione said calmly while gathering her stuff and cat, "I'll see you later Y/n," she said before walking towards the Weasleys and Harry who just showed up.
"You have to admit Draco," you turn and look at him, "She is right. You kinda did put most of Gryffindor through hell until last year."
"I know I know," he says while looking down at the train station floor. "Thankfully you talked some sense into me before I got worse." He said shifting a bit in his seat remembering how angry you were after the Buckbeck incident. "Though I still don't understand how you tolerate Granger when she gets like that," Draco said as he sat up and looked over at the mostly ginger group as they chatted.
"Because despite how much you two hate each other my life wouldn't be complete without my two amazing and smart best friends," you said smiling at the blonde boy.
"When you put it that way it seems as though your friendship with both of them makes you feel whole, like how mooncalves without the moon hide away during the day. They would be lonely without the light of the moon every night,” said the soft angelic voice of Luna Lovegood as she knelt down to play with Lyra as both Draco and you looked at her dumbfounded.
“Luna you scare me sometimes with how accurate you are,” Y/n said as you smiled at your whimsical friend.
"And how you randomly appear," Draco said under his breath as you nudged him slightly, "I'm just saying."
"You two remind me of these Kneazles I raised over the summer," Luna started as she picked up your cat, "Both searching for some new adventure but coming back together when it gets too hard to go alone," she said mysteriously as she handed Draco the cat before leaving to get her stuff as the Hogwarts Express that just pulled into the station.
"We remind her of what?" Draco turned to you confused as Lyra played with his black tie.
"Apparently cats. But it was maybe, sweet? I don't know anymore" You said smiling a bit as you stood up and began to gather your things. "Come on now ferret boy we got a train to board." turning to him as you loaded up your trolly.
Draco groaned as he stood up and walked with you pushing his trolly as your cat jumped from his shoulder onto your trolly. "Really? I'm not a ferret," he said as he looked down slightly annoyed at the new nickname you made.
"Oh, come on Darco ferrets are smart and brilliant animals. Plus they are some of the cutest mammals out there," you said trying to ignore the blush forming as you nudge him while walking.
Draco blushed slightly as he looked up and smiled at you. "Ferrets are smart and brilliant you say?" he said as he walked with you.
"Indeed my dear Dragon, Hermione may have meant it as an insult but it does suit you," smiling as you parked your trolly by the luggage attendant and put Lyra in her carrier next to Hawthorn.
"Gotta catch up with a few friends," you said as you hugged Draco. "I'll see you and those journals, in a bit okay?"
"Yeah I'll see you soon Y/n," he said as he held you close not knowing that a few friends were watching from inside the train.
Draco POV
After Y/n walked away towards the booth that Hermione was most likely in. Draco just stood there for a minute before going to the booth his friends were in.
"What was that all about?" said Pansy as she was standing arms crossed just inside the hallway of the train.
"Excuse me?" he said confused about what Pansy meant as he tried to walk past her to their normal booth.
"That hug with Y/n. Please tell me you two finally started dating." Pansy said as she continued to block his path while smirking at him.
"No Pansy we didn't," he rolled his eyes, "Now please move I'd like to sit down." Getting more frustrated by the second.
"Well that's a shame, I like how she makes you less grumpy," she said as she stepped out of his way. "And she clearly has-” Before she could continue she was cut off by her boyfriend Blaise Zabini.
“Pansy, let him sit down and relax before you start gossiping, please darling,” Blaise said as Draco finally found his best mate in their normal booth.
“Fine I'll let the 'ferret boy' relax," smirking as she sat down next to Blaise as Draco sighed while sitting down across from the couple.
"You heard that?" Draco questioned as he wasn't angry but more embarrassed than anything else.
"Oh please Dray, I hear everything," Pansy smirked as the train car began to fill up with students from Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
"That's what scares me," said Draco under his breath as he looked out the window and saw all the parents waving at their children from the platform.
Blaise chuckled as he was the only one who heard Draco since Pansy was too busy watching people get onto the train car and carefully eavesdropping on each conversation. Draco's thoughts went to the journals and tome he had you look at. The books were safe in the black messenger bag you got him for Christmas since he put a small protection charm on it just in case someone wanted to take it.
Draco hadn’t been paying much attention to the conversation his friends were having until he felt someone sit down next to him. He turned his head slightly and saw Theo Nott had sat down next to him.
“I see that Draco is his normal quiet self. Nothing interesting happened this summer?” Theo asked as he looked over at his friends.
"Well I can tell you one thing that didn't happen this summer," Pansy said smugly while looking at Draco.
"Oooh, do tell Pansy. I'm all ears about what the 'Prince of Slytherin' wasn't able to achieve," Theo jokingly said as he leaned back looking at Pansy.
"Well our dear prince still hasn't confessed his undying love towards his dear childhood friend Y/n this summer," she said dramatically as Blaise rolled his eyes and shook his head.
"He didn't," Theo said pretending to be shocked as he turned toward Draco. "Come on mate it's been a good while now since you've started 'fixing' up your attitude and building up the courage to tell her how you feel, so why haven't you?" he said teasing Draco's new behavior.
"It's complicated," Draco said coldly as he looked at his friends while loosening his tie.
"Bloody Hell Draco, no it isn't," Theo said while throwing his hands up, "You fancy her, ask her out on a date."
"You are ridiculous," Draco said as he stood up, "Move Nott," almost growling as he looked at Theo.
"Fine be in denial," Theo said as he stood up and moved out of the way. "But just know if you don't make a move, someone else will."
Before anyone else could say anything to Draco he was already out of the train car. On his way, he grabbed the bag with the journals and the tome checking to see if anyone tampered with it. Once he was sure nobody messed with it, he continued to where Y/n would meet him.
Normal POV
You'd been staring out the window waiting for Draco to come with the journals for only a few minutes thinking about all the secrets Merlin kept in his journals. To think after all this time, that one of the greatest wizards of all time's journals were at your disposal, let alone with your best friend. You were too lost in thought to hear the compartment door open and close before someone sat down next to you.
"What are you thinking about?" Draco said as he took out the journals and tome before standing up and closing the compartment blinds carefully.
"Nothing that you don't already know," you said happily as you opened the first journal. "How was the Slytherin gang? Pansy still the school gossip?" you questioned as you took out your notebook and pen.
"Still the school gossip it seems," he said as he took off his suit jacket and loosened his tie before sitting back down next to you, "Blaise is his normal quiet self. Pansy hasn't changed him yet, thankfully," smiling as he watched you began to write some notes.
"I highly doubt that Pansy can change him unless he wanted to though I believe his attitude about blood status has improved since I started helping you understand," looking up from the tome to look Draco in the eyes for a moment before copying down more notes. "Even if it was hard at first."
Draco smiled as he listened to you talk about his friend and how much progress he made since that first day you started 'whipping him into shape'. He'd never admit to anyone except you, his mother, and Blaise how much of an ass he really was two years ago. Theo had made fun of him after he once saw you and Draco practicing with Luna and Neville practicing charms by the Black Lake. Theo complained about how he was hanging out with Looney Lovegood and Loasy Longbottom, for some reason this made Draco mad when he talked about your friends but he didn't understand why.
"Hard yes, but it's easier thanks to you and your endless amount of patience," he said as he looked over at what you were copying down, "Are those star maps?" confused about how you got to star maps.
"I decoded a few of the first lines and they were talking about how 'Casseopia greets the Lion and the Dragon on a cool evening. Once greeted the confusione shall disappear from thy parchment' so I drew up a rough star map to see how the stars would be positioned during the coming months," you said as you explained happily what you found.
"So when do Cassiopeia, Leo, and Draco greet each other in the night sky?" he said awkwardly unsure if this was a big clue or not.
"it seems so but I'll check the star maps in the library to be sure. So how does it feel that your namesake is a part of this riddle my dear dragon?" teasing him a bit as you nudged him playfully.
"Confused yet important," he said as he sat up giving you his smug smirk. "And if it wasn't for me snooping around my family library we wouldn't be on whatever adventure this is." nudging you back as he normally would though it felt a little different.
"Well as much as that is true, you'd be lost without me Draco," smiling as you stood up, "probably best to get changed into my robes before I get lost in the journals"
"I'll stay here till you get back Y/n," smiling as he watched you open the compartment door and close it behind you. He looked over your notes while you were gone trying desperately to read your handwriting when he thought he saw the slightest hint of a heart next to his name.

Year One: The Welcome Feast
Tumblr media
Chapter List WC: 2,414
Hogwarts was magical. Not just in the sense of using magic, but that it was truly astonishing.
After departing the train, a fairly large man was calling out for first-years to follow him. Trailing behind Harry and Ron, Violet had to tip her head back just to look at the man. His hair and beard were so long they practically covered the man's entire head and face. He had to be well over eight and a half metres, but as he and Harry chatted for a moment, he seemed kind enough.
Hagrid, as Violet learned, led all the first-years down to a boat dock, loading four to five kids in each boat. As Hagrid settled into a boat with Harry, Ron, and Violet, all of the boats started to move slowly across the lake.
'Of course magic controls the boats', Violet laughed in awe. She continued to be surprised as she stared out of the lake and up at Hogwarts. There, on a large island, sat a massive castle. An honest to goodness castle, lit by, what she could only assume, were candles and torches.
As they approached the boat dock on the island, Violet looked over at her new friends. Harry stared in would could only be described as reluctant awe, as if he weren't convinced it was all real. While Ron was openly in awe, eyes wide and mouth gaping. Violet felt better about her own awestruck expression as she saw that most of the kids wore similar ones.
Once inside the castle, all of the first-years were led to a back staircase, wide enough to fit five to six kids side by side. They walked up several flights before reaching the landing, an older woman standing on the top step. She wore long, dark green robes, a black pointed hat, and a stern expression. Violet realised this must be the professor who had sent her acceptance letter, McGonagall.
The trio stopped at the top of the stairs, Hermione pushing through a few others to join them at the front.
"Welcome to Hogwarts! Now, in a few moments you will pass through these doors, and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin."
Harry and Violet shared a look of confusion before looking at Ron, who looked concerned.
"While you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup."
"Trevor!" Violet jumped as a boy shoved past her, leaning down to scoop up a toad from the top step. He froze for a moment as he stared up at the professor, then rushed back into the crowd. Neville, Violet surmised.
"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." She turned and walked off, closing the big twin doors behind her.
"It's true then!" Violet and her friends turned around, staring at the boy with white-blonde hair and a snarky expression, "What they're saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts."
At this, the entire group of kids broke out in gasps and whispers. Violet looked at Harry, wondering what made him so special to elicit such a response. It's the second time someone's made a fuss when speaking his name, but he had yet to explain why.
"This is Crabbe, and Goyle." The blonde tilted his head towards the two boys beside him, both of whom looked intimidating. Bullies, if Violet had to hazard a guess. "And I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy."
Draco moved to stand on the top step, looming over everyone else. He head whipped towards Ron, who was snickering, "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair, and a hand-me-down robe. You must be a Weasley."
Ron looked down shamefully, and Violet had the sudden urge to smack Draco. Something, she would find in coming years, to be a frequent feeling.
Draco turned back to Harry, "You'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there."
Draco stuck out his hand, staring at Harry expectantly. For a moment, Violet was worried that Harry would shake his hand, but her worries quickly vanished. Harry looked down at Draco's hand, then his face as he said, "I think I can tell the wrong sort myself, thanks."
Draco didn't get the chance to respond before the professor from earlier came back, sending Draco back to his friends.
"We're ready for you now. Follow me."
They followed her down a short hallway and through another set of double doors that, of course, opened themselves. Inside was the Great Hall. Four long tables stretched the length of the room, where hundreds of students sat. The walls were lined with sconces of fire, and taper candles were floating in the air. And the ceiling! It was like a window, showing off the night sky just as it was outside. Violet couldn't take in everything fast enough as she walked down the centre aisle.
"It's not real, you see." Hermione explained, as if reading Violet's mind, "It's just bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History."
Violet was both impressed and peeved that the other girl had already been reading their assigned books. While not opposed to reading, she just couldn't believe someone would have already started school readings.
The first-year students spread out along the front stage, where a long table sat with, presumably, professors. There was also a stool, with a very old, very dirty and rugged hat sat upon it.
As Violet listened to Professor Dumbledore's speech, then Professor McGonagall's, she looked around at her fellow classmates. Some looked nauseous, while others looked excited. She decided she was somewhere in the middle; excited to be there, but nervous at what was to come.
Hermione was called up first. She looked to be talking to herself as she stepped up and sat on the stool.
"Mental, that one. I'm tellin' you." Ron muttered.
"Be nice, Ron! She's probably nervous." Violet muttered back.
Then the oddest thing happened-- the hat talked. Violet was getting used to the strangeness of magic, but a talking hat? Not something she was expecting. It shouted out "Gryffindor!" and the students at the one table all started clapping and shouting. Hermione rushed over, sitting on the empty bench.
One by one the students were sorted. Draco to Slytherin, Susan Bones to Hufflepuff, Ron to Gryffindor, Harry to Gryffindor, Padma Patil to Ravenclaw, and so on. When it was finally Violet's turn, she trudged over to the stool.
'Gryffindor,' She thought, over and over as she sat down, 'I want to be with my friends.'
"Ah!" The hat shouted, "Yes, yes, I see..." It muttered, "You've got Gryffindor in you, mighty Gryffindor blood, yes, yes... You've got potential there... Better be... HUFFLEPUFF!"
It took all of her energy to fight the burst of sadness that threatened to take over. She wanted so badly to be with her new friends, all three of which were sitting at the table watching her in worry. She braved the crowd and plastered on a smile, walking over to the Hufflepuff table. A few of the first-years introduced themselves to her, including Susan, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and Hannah Abbott.
Once the sorting ceremony was finished, food appeared on the tables. Massive serving dishes full of lamb chops, fresh fruits, whole roast chickens, varying vegetables, rolls, and so much more.
After dinner, the houses left the hall one at a time. When it was Hufflepuff's turn, all the older students left, with only one remaining.
"Congratulations! I'm Prefect Gabriel Truman, and I'm delighted to welcome you to Hufflepuff House!" He lead the small group of first-years through the hallway and down a flight of stairs as he made his speech, "Our emblem is the badger, an animal that is often underestimated, because it lives quietly until attacked, but which, when provoked, can fight off animals much larger than itself, including wolves. Our house colours are yellow and black, and our common room lies one floor below the ground, on the same corridor as the kitchens..."
He continued on for some time, listing out names and credentials for famous Hufflepuff wizards and witches. He seemed to talk with his hands a lot, and frequently stopped walking as he told his story.
They came to a stop a little ways down the basement hallway. The hallway was brightly lit, despite the stone lining the walls, floor, and ceiling, and decorated with food-theme paintings.
"This here is the kitchen." Truman explained, "Students aren't allowed in. It can upset the house-elves. Another cool fact, Helga Hufflepuff, our house founder, brought in the house-elves to run the kitchen so they could escape their abusive living situations!"
They continued down the hallway for a moment, before reaching the end, "What else do you need to know? Oh yes, the entrance to the common room is concealed in a stack of large barrels in a nook on the right hand side of the kitchen corridor," He pointed to the barrels, "Tap the barrel two from the bottom, middle of the second row, in the rhythm of 'Helga Hufflepuff', and the lid will swing open. We are the only house at Hogwarts that also has a repelling device for would-be intruders. If the wrong lid is tapped, or if the rhythm of the tapping is wrong, the illegal entrant is doused in vinegar."
Once he finished speaking, he tapped the barrels as he'd explained, and a round door appeared in the wall. He eased the door open, stepping through before the rest of the students entered the passageway, a short, earthy tunnel that ended in the Hufflepuff common room.
This room, Violet decided, was her favourite so far. It was a spacious, rounded room, with wood floors, walls, and furnishings. Small, round windows sat midway up, the moon shining through the frosted glass. There were curved shelves along the walls, with varying plants and books, and other plants were hanging from the ceiling.
In the centre of the far wall sat a collection of couches and seats, positioned around a lit fireplace. Upon closer inspection, Violet realised the wooden fireplace had Badgers carved throughout it. The mantelpiece above the fireplace was also covered in small plants and books. And above there hung a portrait of a woman. She was pretty, Violet decided. Only her upper half was painted, but she had pale skin, brown hair in twin braids, a round face, and warm eyes. She was dressed modestly, in a yellow front-laced dress and a black shawl over one shoulder. In her hands was a small, two-handled cup, and she held it in such a way that it appeared she was toasting the students.
"Helga Hufflepuff, our house founder." Someone said from beside Violet. She turned to see Hannah Abbott, who was admiring the portrait.
"Ah! Admiring our founder?" Truman came up behind the two girls, looking at the portrait with admiration. The girls nodded, "The others have already gone to their dorms. The girls' dormitory is up those stairs to the left, boys are up the other set, but you two stay out of there." He waved his hand to each stairway, laughing warmly when warning the girls away from the boys dorms.
"Your belongings have already been delivered to your rooms. In the morning, at breakfast, you'll receive your timetables for the year. I know it will be daunting, but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask your fellow Hufflepuffs. And don't be afraid to get lost, we've all been there!" He laughs again, but Violet and Hannah shared a wide-eyed look, "Alright, off to bed with you. I'll see you at breakfast!"
Violet and Hannah took off up the stairs in silence, trailing down the hall until they found the only dorm with empty beds. The rooms were similar to the common room, in that they were round, but the walls were stone rather than wood, though there were floor to ceiling wood beams between each of the beds. The four-poster beds were made of wood, with yellow curtains and patchwork quilts. In the centre of the floor lay a yellow and black rug, with the house crest. There was a trunk at the end of each bed, two of which already had items sitting atop them.
Violet made her way to her own trunk, pulling out a few items before moving to sit on her bed. It was smaller than her bed at home, but it was quite comfortable. She set out her few items on the table beside the bed- a picture frame with a photo of her and her parents, a stuffed bear no bigger than her hand that her mother had gifted her as a child, and a journal her father had gifted her for her birthday back in April.
Then she shook out the blanket she had brought with her, another gift from her mother. It was a simple violet purple quilt that her grandmother had made. She never knew her grandmother, as she had passed when Violet was only a baby, but the blanket brought her comfort anyway.
Her parents often told her stories of their families. Her mother was an only child and both of her parents had passed, but her father had two brothers and two sisters, who had moved away and lived in other parts of the world with their own families, but his parents lived nearby. They often visited, bringing sweets to spoil Violet with.
Once she was content with her little set up, she pulled out some pyjamas and headed towards what she assumed was the bathroom. There were only two doors in the dorm, one of which she knew would take her back out to the hall. The other door led to the small bathroom. It was made up entirely of smooth stone and hardly bigger than a closet. It contained a shower stall, toilet, and sink, which she supposed was all they needed anyway. She didn't imagine it would be fun sharing with three other girls, though.
When she was finished, she returned to her bed, murmuring a simple 'goodnight' to Hannah, who was sitting in her bed reading. The other two girls must've already been asleep, as their lamps were off and curtains closed.
Violet expected sleep to evade her, as that was usual when she had a exciting day, but she fell asleep the moment she was under the covers.

Draco: It sure is dark in here. And quiet. Not that I’m scared or anything, Potter
Draco: I mean, who’s scared of the dark these days? Not me. Not Draco Malfoy. Absolutely not. That’d be ridiculous!
Harry: Do you want me to hold your hand, Malfoy?
Draco: Yes, please

Cold Heart
Draco x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Aftermath of a fight, soft angst, that’s all :)
Summary: Reader and Draco have a fight over something they can’t even remember and they sleep in separate beds. But all that changes when Reader has a nightmare.
Note: I don’t use Y/N, if that’s okay :)
***
The feelings inside her chest were unbearable. It was a feeling of loneliness and hurt settling in her chest making her feel uneasy. The tension between them was thick yet awkward at the same time, so thick she didn’t know what to say next. Like if she tried to say something the air would drown out her words and they would be faded before they even reached his ears.
The so called fight was horrible. They both said things they didn’t mean, and called each other names they didn’t really think each other were. Their actions were foolish, getting upset over something that wasn’t important enough to affect their relationship. The thing neither of them would admit is that they didn’t even remember how it started. That was the thing about arguments. Once they start they keep adding up until it explodes, but no one knows what set it of in the first place.
The girl felt small under his sharp gaze, the once soft eyes that looked at her were now hard and stern. The sudden cold air made her shiver but of course he had no reaction. He just stood there, staring her down, making her more uncomfortable by the minute.
She swallowed her regret and pain for the night, deciding to deal with it the next day. “I’ll sleep in the guest room.” She mumbled oh so quietly, not even sure he heard her and slowly made her way to the bedroom, her feet softly padding on the floor the only sound in the room besides Draco’s breathing.
Draco didn’t do anything to stop her, not even changing his body language as a sign he wanted her to stay. It was almost like he wanted her to leave, wanted her to sleep in a separate bed just because they couldn’t act like mature adults properly solving out their relationship problems. So he stood there watching her leave and still watched as door closed, leaving him with the wood staring at him. The man sighed, running a rough pale hand through his even paler hair, tugging at the strands until it hurt. His hand went to his chest next, tugging harshly at the tie that was tied at the collar, something that seemed to be getting tighter each minute. He felt like he was being choked. He untied it and threw it hardly on the ground, the fabric making a sharp slapping noise. He himself was cold, the unexplained breeze sending shivers up his arms as he traveled to their bedroom, totally expecting her sleeping figure to be there, soft skin laying on the silk sheets, eyelashes tangled together as her eyes fluttered from time to time. But he know that even when that happened she wouldn’t wake, for that was a sign she was in deep slumber, not planning on getting out of it any time soon. But once he walked in he found the temperature even colder; the absence of the girl seeming to have an effect on the atmosphere itself. The bed was empty and the sight was unsettling to his chest, almost like her in the bed was something that needed to happen in order for him to feel content.
Sadly the feeling of discomfort didn’t go away even when he decided to sleep on her side of the bed, her scent evolving him like a quilt, the warmth of the smell almost overwhelming. The goosebumps on his skin seemed to go away just by smelling her, like just a piece of her could fix his smallest problems.
Draco slept restlessly that night, his eyes fluttering open every couple hours until he finally found himself falling back asleep again, only to do the same thing a couple hours later.
It wasn’t until he felt another presence in the room, someone’s eyes on him as he slept that his eyes finally decided to stay open for more than five minutes. He glanced at the doorway, the darkness seeming to spread as he focused on one spot. He heard heavy breathing, the person obviously trying to stop it so it wouldn’t wake him up. Little did they know he woke up because he felt her in his presence, not heard it. Almost like he couldn’t just feel her when he’s awake but also when he’s asleep.
“Hey,” he grumbled, his arm coming out of beneath the pillow, the pillow being almost permanently bent because of his arm squeezing it. The girl in the doorway shifted her weight on each foot, her body rocking back and forth as she did so.
“Come here,” he requested, rolling over so she could reclaim her spot. She hesitantly walked over to the bed, stopping when she was next to her side, hands fiddling with her-his- shirt. His hand reached out to her, fingers connecting to her arms, stroking the skin there. Her skin was still warm from the bed sheets, telling him that she wasn’t standing there for long before he woke up.
Silence wrapped around them for a while as his fingers continued to massage her skin, warm against warm. He knew she found comfort in it since she was practically melting into his touch. He wrapped his slender fingers around her wrist softly and lightly tugged as a signal he wanted her to join him in the silky bed sheets.
“Come here,” he grumbled again, fingers going down her wrist to connect his hand with hers. She stepped closer at the repeated request, like she convinced herself that the first one was a misheard, and that she needed reassurance. Her knee stepped up on the bed, arms reaching out to him for a seek of comfort. His arms settled on her hips, guiding her as she settled into bed with him.
She chose to lay on her back, eyes settled on the ceiling but her arm was still touching his. He only noticed then that her cheeks were damp and eyelashes wet.
“Hey,” he said comfortingly, fingers going up to her hair to stroke it out of her face; continuing to do so even after it was out of the way. “No tears, alright love? No tears,”
She sniffed, eyes glazing over but nothing escaping. Her lips parted and she breathed through her mouth for a couple seconds before she spoke.
“I had a nightmare,”
Draco sighed as a sign to say he felt bad, hand moving to her ear so he could stroke it carefully.
“I’m sorry, loves.” He said softly. “I wish I was there when you woke up.”
“I was scared you would still be mad.” She stated anxiously. He shook his head before she could finish speaking, lips leaning forward so he could peck at her cheeks, kissing the tears away one by one. He then backed up but still stayed close by, her right hand coming up to wrap around his neck. His silver orbs met her glossy ones, eyes searching for any emotion in her eyes. “Listen darling, I would never stay mad at you for coming to me for comfort,” he started, rubbing their noses together softly before looking into her eyes again. “You are mine, and if you need anything I’m here to give it to you.”
She smiled ever so softly, fingers stroking at his hair on the back of his neck. “All I need is you, and you already gave that to me. There isn’t anything else I need more.”

Summary: the day after doing "it" for the first time, y/n scrambles to get dressed and loses her purity ring. Little did she know, draco had it. And wasn't planning on giving it back.
.....
Tumblr media
I got out of bed and began to get dressed buttoning my white shirt up and putting my skirt on.
After that, I grabbed my Hufflepuff tie off the floor and through it over my shoulders. I didn't want to tie it right now.
I thought I was all ready when I felt that my sapphire purity ring I always wore wasn't on my finger.
"shit." I whispered in a panic.
Draco was sat against his head board, he hands behind has head. He a smirk plastered all over his face.
"have you seen my purity ring draco?" I said in a panic.
"even if I did, why do you need a purity ring when your no longer what they deem as pure" he sarcastically said.
"I need it because my parents gave it to me and if they saw me without my purity ring, they'd kill me," I explained to him.
He laughed a little than from behind his head he flashed the ring.
"you little bitch," I joked.
His smirk was bigger than ever. He was enjoying my anger.
I walked to the side of the bed he was on and tried to grab it but he moved it quickly.
"Draco! Seriously." I groaned. My frown had a little smile behind it.
"how about we make a deal. I can wear this ring on a necklace till you go home, than you can have it. But till than, I get it," he negotiated with me.
"And why do you want to wear my purity ring around your neck," I questioned.
He snickered than said,
"because than everyone can know how I fucked you after the party last night."
My face became red as a strawberry, I was flustered by his words.
"aww, I got you all flustered. Didn't I?" He laughed.
I covered my face, trying to hide his embarrased he was making me feel.
Draco took my hands off my face and made me look at him, staring deep into my eyes.
"you didn't say no to my idea so I'm gonna take that as a yes."
"fine draco, you win." I sighed as I admitted defeat.
He grabbed the chain from the side of his bed and put the ring on it, than put the chain on.
I will admit, he did look hot wearing my ring on his neck. But now everyone in the school will know I lost my virginity to Draco Malfoy at my first ever party.
Draco stood up from bed and I remembered he was naked.
Staring at his figure as he got dressed slowly.
"take a picture darling, it will last longer," he joked.
I rolled my eyes and stood up. Than I walked over to him.
"I'm going to head back to my dorm, I probably worried my housemates," I said softly.
He nodded and put his hand on my cheek, than pulled me into a soft kiss.
Once I pulled away, a big grin appeared on my face.
The next day, I walked past him the hallways, the necklace shined brightly and brought him a lot of attention. And me too.
He began to play with it and look at me, smirking and looking back at his friends.
He's was very proud of what he did to me yesterday night.
And I'm happy he did it.

sore loser
pairing: draco malfoy x reader
word count: 1,450
summary: reader gets jealous and draco falls harder during a practice duel. reader can be interpreted as any house but uses she pronouns.
a/n: i haven't written in years like before the pandemic. i deleted my old blog and had no inspiration until months ago lol i started this blog just to read but i started writing this a while back and i finished it last night. not proofread. if the beginning is horrid i apologize i didn't want to delete it and start over because i know i'll never start up again. enjoy the little fluff i threw together.
Tumblr media
Dueling was an essential part of the Hogwarts curriculum. Every other week, there was a practice session down in the dungeons. Mats laid out on the floor and splayed on the walls. You hated it. Especially when it was in teams. Seriously, in what circumstances did students need to fight in pairs?
You weren’t known for your dueling skills and when your duels prolonged the average amount of time, you panicked and tapped out immediately.
Today was especially nerve wracking. Dueling in pairs, against Draco, and he’s partnered with the obnoxious girl who has it out for you.
She was clearly eating this up.
Draco was not. He did not like how obvious her intentions were. The shoving him every time she laughed, the raised pitch in her voice only when speaking to him, the way she says his name differently, all of it made him grimace internally. She was like a fly in his ear. Insufferable.
“An easy win.” She looks you up and down, smirking.
She looks over to Draco, attempting to exchange eye contact, but he was looking at you, with anguish. He didn’t hold his gaze for long as he adjusted his sleeves before getting in position.
Neville was your duel partner today. You could tell by his face he was utterly terrified. You kind of felt bad for befriending Draco, seeing what he did to the students around you and how he talked about them. But the side of him you’re not sure anyone else got to see, they don’t know about, the one you stumbled on accidentally while trying to use the washrooms and ended up staying on the cold floor for an hour after curfew just listening.
“Remember what we learned Neville.” You nod at him curtly. He sends you a look of appreciation under his worried gaze. Where would you two be without the extra training?
During the duel, you mostly try taking your anger out on the girl who targets you constantly for no reason. You didn’t even remember her stupid name. There are lots of girls like her. She was just the one who decided to be bold for the semester. Defending yourself makes you a target around the school for certain, but you didn't care enough to stop.
Dueling admittedly can be therapeutic when you have the right attitude. She was knocked down on the mat, clearly taken aback. You had shot spell after spell at her, almost to see how quickly you were able to possibly and properly get spells out of your wand.
Draco had to assist his dueling partner by default, but it made you unexpectedly feel sick seeing him trying to heal her.
“…Get up.” He holds her up by her arm. His gaze is anywhere else but around you.
You were searching for answers inside his eyes, growing more irritated the further he avoided you.
Neville gets his shot at revenge as well, continuously shooting at Draco while he tries to assist his dueling partner.
It was one of those matches that were long and painful. Both sides were equally as good, even if you hated to admit it.
It wasn't long until you’ve seen enough.
“Confringo!” You counter with a spell that bounced off the two of them back and forth until they’re both on the ground.
When the smoke cleared, your eyes flickered to the other end of the platform. Draco didn’t even look upset that he lost. Just surprised you would even use such a spell.
“I was getting sort of tired of using expelliarmus so frequently…” Neville blinked a few times, finally drawing his wand down.
“Freak!” The girl lays for a little too long expecting Draco to pick her up from the floor. He doesn’t.
“Is that even allowed?” She haggardly gets up on her own, dusting off her robes.
“It is.” Draco mutters before sauntering back to the group of students.
It was honestly one of the first duels you had won in a while, there was a newfound confidence in your stride.
It was free period. You decided to take the scenic route. To just relax outside,
“Came out to frolic in the grass did you?” Draco’s hair was completely restyled back to normal, despite the duel having just ended. He replaced his tethered robes with fresh ones and had enough time to wipe his complexion clean.
There was a playful smile on his face, one he didn’t show to most.
“After you lost, shouldn’t I be saying all these snobbish remarks now?” You look up at the sky to avoid his glance. Because if you did, you knew your smile would grow bigger than you would’ve liked.
He scoffs, setting his bag down on the ground.
“Don’t get all excited about this now,”
You watched as he sat down to reach your eye level.
“next time I won’t let you win.” Draco confidently sighed.
“Your pride would never let you purposefully lose.” You remark.
“Maybe it would for certain people.” He argues.
If this is what you thought it was, what an awful attempt at flirting.
“Either way, I won fair Malfoy.” You brush off his last statement.
Draco liked how you said his name. It sounded so familiar and genuine. It wasn't used in a hostile way.
It was hard to hide his growing smile.
“Why are you smiling…” You turn away.
“Is it so fun being a loser?” You say, back completely turned around to face him.
“I only lost because you flung me and that girl across the room!”
“She’s stupid! Of course I’m going to fling her away! You’re stupid too! Stop picking on people.”
Draco looks down while grinning at his feet.
“I’ll try.”
“Don’t just say it. Really do it.” You kick a rock in his direction.
“I get enough criticism for talking to you. Even though it’s all from you not being able to just leave me be.”
“Obviously you don’t care for what others are saying about me.” Draco shuffles the rock in between his feet, passing it back to you.
“Because I’ve seen otherwise to disprove the rumors.” You remarked.
“Before I start telling people you’re actually nice, you should start giving people a reason to believe me!” You toss the rock, watching it bounce off Draco's shoulder.
"Ow! You're the violent one!"
“I’m not going around claiming something that nobody will believe me for. I will not make a fool of myself Malfoy, not in that way. I'm already being prejudiced around here, no thanks to you.”
Draco was not known for his emotional intelligence. In fact, he might be the least comforting person you had ever talked to, but he had a feeling in between the insults, you were telling him how he really was capable of being a good person.
Draco let out a little smile, trying his best not to laugh at you.
Which was difficult because he had a habit of laughing at whatever or whoever he wanted to laugh at.
"This school is tolerable with you around." He said while swallowing whatever dry chuckles were left in his system.
"I'm only around because you follow me everywhere."
Draco slumped over, pushing his weight on your bag. Were his advances, seen as bullying? Of course it was. He was rude to everyone. How were you supposed to figure out he didn't mean it as much when it came to you? He didn't even really know he liked you not that long ago. Though, ever since that epiphany, he can't get you out of his head. There's the urge for more. To see you more. Sneak in more of you throughout the day.
"Keep bothering her, it makes you happier than when you bother others."
"I can't wait to see how she reacts to what I say next."
"I need her to see my new quidditch uniform."
All were stupid thoughts, yes, but they all worked. You were never mean enough to be hostile towards him, and honestly seeing him slip up and forget to keep his tough exterior up every once in a while was rewarding. You would never say it out loud but it made you feel special.
Draco lazily picks off blades of grass peaking through the cords attached to your bag. He had finally run out of things to say to bother you.
"...You aren't going to defend yourself?"
He glances up at you for a moment before shaking his head.
He thought, one day he'll be able to just confess and maybe pull you into a swift kiss right after. Of course, you'll say yes and kiss back and all of that stuff. He'll worry about it later.

The Astronomy Tower
Part Two Draco Malfoy x Potter Reader
Even though you were Harry's twin you led very separate lives, different friends, different focuses but one thing you had in common was that Draco Malfoy couldn't stand you. Or at least he acted like that…
Tumblr media
*°*°•.˜”*°•.˜”*°•.˜”*°••°*”˜.•°*”˜.•°*”˜.•°*”°*
previous part
You were incredibly confused about the whole affair with Malfoy in the Astronomy Tower. He seemed so… different. It didn't seem like Malfoy at all. But you supposed that you didn't know him very well to make that distinction. Should you go back to the tower? Or was your place of solitude completely forfeited to Malfoy who was probably making fun of you throughout your interaction? The idea of never speaking to him again dawned on you, but after that night he wasn't such a dick to you.
For reasons Harry couldn't explain, you stayed at the potions seat next to Malfoy, you also no longer joined in when the golden trio would complain about him. You no longer seemed to have a seething hatred of him but an indifference that was dangerously close to becoming a friendship.
DADA classes were a neverending experience of boredom now that Umbridge had limited the whole curriculum to note taking. But one day, a small enchanted note landed on your desk, it was shaped like a bird. You assumed it was a charmed paper plane from Hermione, complaining about how bored she was or Ron, asking if you could use an unforgivable curse on him to end the suffering of this class. But as you carefully opened the bird, it was from Draco.
You didn't turn around to where you knew he sat, afraid all of it was a cruel joke he laughed about with his friends. All it said was, did I scare you off so easily? It felt like a challenge you were expected to rise too, which made you more inclined to ignore this attempt at attention just to frustrate him more. You could tell Draco was used to getting what he wanted and if you were going to be friends, he couldn't have the power in that regard. You decided that maybe being close to Malfoy wasn't as heinous as everyone thought it was. But, he was a ridiculous attention seeker...
When you didn't answer the question in his message he grew even more impatient. Furious at himself for letting his desires fuck with the better judgement of his head. But you were just so…he didn't know how to describe it other than a secret he wanted to uncover. How could you not understand that all he wanted was to be alone with you again and- No! He couldn't be thinking this way about a bloody Potter? No matter your pureblood status, you were tainted by the actions of your brother. Was it fair? Probably not judging from the ache in his stomach when he thought about never speaking to you alone again. He was only a fifth year, what did a little fling mean to him when he would soon be betrothed to a powerful pure blood?
He couldn't tell what the feeling was but he didn't like it. A fresh, scary feeling of happiness, a smile that crossed his lips after you had left him up on the astronomy tower. The smell of lavender as he got close to you, the stars in the night sky glinting in your eyes. You were so… there wasn't a word he could think of but he wanted to be around you, he wanted to be in your presence always. It was an immediate feeling of comfort in the way that you argued and teased one another. What was happening to him? He was going soft, obviously. But Draco did something that night when he returned to his dormitory, he smiled and thought of you looking happy.
Two weeks after your accidental meeting with Malfoy you decided he might have given up on meeting you again. You returned to the Astronomy Tower under the cloak and when you got to the top you couldn't see him. One part of you sighed in relief but the other half made you feel more disappointed than anything else. After you walked over to the balcony and began looking out, a finger tapped you on the shoulder and you cursed to yourself, assuming it was professor Sinastra. But as you turned, Malfoy was grinning at you.
“But how did you-.”
“You really can't be as clever as you think if a simple disillusionment spell fooled you.” he raised an eyebrow and you rolled your eyes.
“Just because I wasn't on the lookout for someone watching me doesn't make me stupid.” You turned back to look at the stars, undeterred by his presence (or at least you pretend you were).
“I can tell you're annoyed.” Draco leant on the balcony with his forearms, looking up at you with quite a sweet smile.
“I'm trying to ignore that you're there, Malfoy.” you said through gritted teeth as you committed to hating him even though you were slowly realising you didn't.
“Did you like my bird?” He asked, looking down at the black lake.
“It wasn't the worst way to be flirted with.” You said back in a sudden urge of confidence you didn't expect.
“Flirt- it wasn't flirting!” Malfoy protested and you cocked your head at him with a smile.
“Awh, all embarrassed? Wait till my father hears about this.” You replied mockingly, he surprisingly didn't look embarrassed but challenged.
“Well, I'm glad to see you've been listening so intently to what I say. Already in love with me, are you?” He returned the mocking tone and you narrowed your eyes.
“If I ever fall in love with you Malfoy you'll know, because the earth will have disappeared.” you shook your head and returned to look at the stars.
“Can you see Orion up there?” He asked, pointing.
“Whereabouts?” You tried to look in his eyeline but couldn't quite make it out.
“There!” He exclaimed pointing in the same place.
“And how do you think doing the exact same thing will help me!” You replied angrily, wishing you had never asked.
“It's just,” he stood up and moved behind you. You could feel his presence so close to you now that your fight or flight felt like it was kicking in. But you stayed put, you-on some level at least- wanted this.
Draco delicately touched your head and turned it to where he was pointing, then repositioned you from your waist. It was confusing for the most part, his hands stayed at your waist and were still there as you both looked at the constellation.
“Beautiful, isn't it. I assume you wouldn't expect me to have a love for the stars but I do. Helps me escape from everything when I can imagine how far away they all are but still choose to show up for me.” His voice was nearly a whisper by your ear as your eyes grew wide. Malfoys hands rested on your waist now, not moving but seemingly more comfortable.
“I-” your voice cracked like it had shorted a circuit and your eyes went even wider. You cleared your throat and took a step to the side, looking at the floor. “What time is it? God, that's late?” you began to step backwards and nearly sent a telescope flying off the tower but caught it just in time. Not however, in time to stop yourself from falling over. Malfoy took a step forward to help you up but you scrambled to your feet.
“It's not that late?” Draco said calmly and you didn't know how to argue with him on that.
“Since when do you love the stars?” You asked, hoping it would be a good enough diversion.
“I was formally introduced to astronomy at Hogwarts but always loved looking up at the stars more than down at what was here with me. Down here is so boring. The stars can do anything, turn into multitudes of things. But we're stuck.” He turned away from you and leant on the balcony again. You weren't sure whether to approach him or escape.
“When did you become so questioning about humanity and the world?” You asked, slowly walking towards the balcony. Draco scoffed-
“You imagine me to be so vain and uninterested with the wider world?” Draco turned his head to look at you with eyebrows furrowed.
“No, I just… well maybe I do think that.” You paused, thinking about how best to proceed.
“It's quite alright, if you were concerned. I'm not so fragile that it would knock me for six.” Draco smirked and you rolled your eyes.
“Such a drama creator, aren't you. Want me to buckle under the pressure of the Malfoy gaze hmm?” You were next to Draco now. Leaning your forearms on the balcony, your shoes almost touching.
“Can't be too kind to a Potter. You'd think I was going soft. A bit of playful manipulation couldn't hurt.” He rubbed his hands together and blew hot air on them.
“Playful manipulation is an interesting way of describing a bully.” You said quietly, almost to yourself but Draco heard.
He didn't comment on it. He just gripped the wooden balcony hard enough for his knuckles to go white. Is that all you saw him as? The two of you stood in a tense silence for a few minutes just looking at the sky before Draco sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.
“I should be heading back.” He said with a half smile walking around the platform.
“Oh, alright. It's been nice talking to you.” You had no idea if that was genuine or not because, at this point you were half loyal to protecting Harry in these conversations and giving Draco the benefit of the doubt.
“Really? Sure I'm not just a bully?” He asked in a spiteful manner you were expecting, his eyes narrowed.
“I- uhm,” you paused. “Well you have bullied people.” You took a step towards him.
“You don't seem to care enough to avoid me, why is that?” Draco walked all the way around the platform and circled you.
“I was coming here before you did, you just happened to be here.” You scowled, your hands getting sweaty at your close proximity.
“But why now? Even now you want to see me or at least don't hate it. So why do you act like you hate me?” Draco asked, stopping right behind you.
“When did I say I hated you?” You replied cautiously as that feeling in the bottom of your stomach returned.
“I can see you trying to pretend you do, it's so sweet. All the little comments and jabs when really what you like is being alone with me.” Draco was so incredibly close to your ear that the hair on the back of your neck stood up.
“You don't know what you see. It's easy to misconstrue something when you want it to be the truth.” You turned around and glared slightly upwards, looking him in the eyes.
“I don't think I'm misconstruing anything right now.” Draco took a step towards you and you were shoe to shoe. His finger touched one of your hands that were balled into fists at your side. You couldn't help but look at his lips, it was ridiculous but so intoxicating to imagine what they felt like.
“What are you trying to accomplish here? A cheap joke for you and your friends or just for your own enjoyment?” You wanted to pull your hand away from him but you felt like you couldn't.
“I think you know this is for your enjoyment just as much as mine.” Draco’s voice was almost a whisper when he leant closer to you. Should you run? He wasn't holding you still and seemed to absolutely love that you didn't want to leave.
“I can't.” You took a step back and pushed a stray hair behind your ear. “I’m going back to my dorm. I think you should consider that too.” You turned around and practically ran down the astronomy tower stairs forgetting to wrap your invisibility cloak around you.

I Miss When We First Met: Chapter 10
Tumblr media
YN Potter falls in love with Draco Malfoy. Along with that, her relationship with her brother, Harry begins to fall apart as she was sorted into Slytherin. Will Harry find out about the relationship between his enemy and his sister?
IMWWFM: Masterlist
Neville hadn't talked to you for the rest of the school year. Harry was also ignoring you, and when he wasn't he was just talking about how evil you are.
No matter what you did, he wouldn't listen to you. "Come on, Harry! You know me better than anyone, you don't actually think I'm that bad..." You say, trying to get him to drop it and apologize.
But he doesn't. "Did Neville tell you something..?" You ask. Maybe It was because he knew about Draco. You didn't think your brother would really hate you just because you were sorted into a different house.
Harry's head immediately snapped to you as he asked; "What? What would he have told me?".
"It's nothing! It's none of your business. Can you please just talk to me?" You ask, tears almost filling your eyes.
"What did you do to him!" He yells at you, his stance getting defensive. You immediately ran off to your shared room, closing the door before making sure to lock him out.
You sobbed, letting all your tears out. You didn't cry often, so when you did you also let out the build up of tears.
You cried out, thinking about how everyone hates you. Both Harry and Neville. You had convinced yourself that Neville had been sending you letters during the summer.
You knew if he had been, the Dursleys would have been tossing them out. You told yourself that's what had happened, but deep inside you knew he was still mad at you.
You unlocked the bedroom door and laid back in your bed, immediately falling asleep. It was only 5pm, but you couldn't stand staying awake any longer.
You woke up to Harry being scolded by Vernon and Petunia. You had watched as your freedom slowly got more and more limited as the school year approached.
The door slammed and you heard the door lock both you and Harry in your room. "What happened..?" You ask, rolling over from your comfortable spot in bed.
"It's none of your business. Go back to bed" he responds, sitting on his bed. You looked over at him to see him intently staring at his owl.
You turned back around and closed your eyes, falling back asleep. The next day, The Dursleys had guests coming over and they told both you and Harry to stay in your room and to make no noises.
The two of you awkwardly walked back to your room, but when you arrived you saw a house elf jumping on Harry's bed.
He introduced himself as Dobby and said he had heard a lot about the two of you. You sat on your bed, trying to tune them out as he talked to Harry.
Eventually Dobby ended up getting Harry into trouble, causing a huge fit from the Dursleys.
They put bars up on your window, complicating things even more. "Any chance of us going to Hogwarts is gone now" You said, glaring at Harry.
"I haven't done anything! If it's anyone's fault it's yours" Harry snapped back. "What have I ever done? You're the one always getting us in the trouble!" I yelled back, my eyes filling with tears.
He rolled his eyes at you and you watched a blue, flying car come into view. You watched in disbelief as he got in the car, leaving you.
"Harry, what about your sister?" Fred said as he made eye contact with you. Your eyes started to water as you fidgeted with your hands.
"She can stay here. She'd just cause more problems at Hogwarts" He said with a harsh voice.
Fred and George gave each other a look, before George backed Fred up. "Yeah, YN. Get your things and come with us. Hurry!"
You got your things and we're forced to squish into the same seat as Harry.
He gave you dirty looks the whole time as you held in your tears. All of the sudden youth been so emotional, things have been too overwhelming.
Harry knew you almost never cried, causing him to believe you were doing it for attention and to get what you want. It only ain't good him more when you showed emotions.
And when he got mad you got more emotional, causing a cycle to form.
The rest of the time with the weasleys had been akward and you hadn't felt at home again until you had gotten back to the Hogwarts Express.

Harry said, “I’m tired of us squabbling like cats—and I get the impression you are too. So can we agree to get along, or at least agree to disagree? Or would you at least tell me what it is you hate about me so much?”
Draco readjusted his stance. He stepped forward and set both feet firmly on the ground in front of Harry. “You want to know why I hate you?” he breathed viperously. “I hate you, Potter, because you can do no wrong according to Professor Dumbledore. I hate how that stupid scar of yours commands the crowds wherever you go—and I hate how you’re always the center of attention—and that you ever had the nerve to say no to me. I hate how bright and green your beautiful eyes are, and I hate the blank look on your face whenever you look at me like that…”
Stunned by the confusion of words he had just heard, Harry worked his mouth on a soundless question. When he recovered his voice, he managed to say, “Malfoy… what do my beautiful eyes have to do with anything?”

Oh and if you want NSFW headcanons then just lmk!
• Draco isn’t good with his words, he can’t ever express how he is feeling and so sometimes it seems as if he doesn’t love you and it frightens you but he always reassures you by putting love letters underneath your pillow in the mornings whilst you’re asleep as he knows it’ll always put a smile on your face.
• he isn’t big on physical touch but as soon as you’re both out in public he becomes completely attached to you, hand around your waist, shoulders, resting against you, holding your hand- anything and everything because he wants everyone and anyone to know that you are his.
• gets you a snake pendant and also lets you wear his ring to feel closer to him. But if you’re in another house other than Slytherin he’d get you a necklace with your houses animal on it.
• always ruffles your hair to annoy you, and you ruffle his back but he loves it.
• when he gets the dark mark you’re the first person he tells and first person he goes to- seeking comfort from you as he’s utterly terrified.
• he isn’t good with homework, he doesn’t like it one bit, but he’ll always help you out with your homework even if he ultimately fails.
• constant kisses on the cheek and forehead.
•he likes to trail his fingertip over your skin and watch how you smile, sometimes you trail against his lips and he playfully pretends to bite your finger. He allows you to see another side to him.
• always there to support you no matter what.
• sometimes he’s very defiant and agitated and even you can’t calm him down and he says things he doesn’t intend on saying/ things he didn’t mean to say and he apologises every time with a trip to hogsmeade to get some butter beer
• if someone ever hurts your feelings he’s immediately in their face making them regret hurting you.
• loves to skip classes with you
• holds hands with you constantly.
• he can’t ever take his eyes off of you, always admiring you. Always. You mean a lot to him in many many ways and the best way I can describe it is if you’ve seen the movie inside out and the emotions and those islands that have core memories stored inside of them… yeah… well you have an island in Dracos core memories. You’re ultimately his safe place<3
• he loves that you know him well, you know when he’s unhappy like he knows when you’re unhappy. But you always press him to tell you what’s the matter and he ultimately opens up.
• very very cuddly. His hair is fluffy and soft
• one of his favourite things to do with you is stargaze in the astronomy tower. He often takes you on dates up there so the two of you don’t get disturbed.
• when kissing you he holds your jaw with one hand yet his touch is oh so tender and gentle as if frightened he was going to break you.

Artifacts of Merlin
Chapter One - Old Journals
Draco Malfoy x Ravenclaw Fem! Reader
Concept: I'm a huge fan of The Mummy movies from 1999 & 2001. I wanted a fun, adventure, action-packed, and slightly comedic mashup filled with magic and love. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Summary: In an alternate universe Voldemort was officially defeated by Harry Potter during his first year at Hogwarts. The world of Witches and wizards has finally known peace. While the golden trio has not so many big grand adventures a Ravenclaw student, Y/n Constantine, with help from her childhood friend Draco Malfoy, stumble on a discovery of a lifetime. She enlists the help of her classmates and friends. Hermione Granger, one of the best witches she knows, and Luna Lovegood one of her roommates and a very insightful person. Where this artifact will take them they don't know. Will friendships evolve into something more? Or will tensions between the group come in the way of the answers? Will Hermione punch Draco in the face again? maybe Will Luna make out-of-pocket comments? probably Will the quest change them or will the quest change the world?

Y/n POV
Summer had come and gone all too soon but just as summer came to an end, a new school year filled with excitement was about to begin you thought as you slowly sat up in your bed. This would be the start of your fifth year at Hogwarts and you were beyond excited to see your friends again. Though you lived not too far from some of them, that didn't mean you didn't miss seeing them every day.
As you got out of bed a familiar owl tapped on your bedroom window. Making your way over to the window you let the eagle owl in as he drops a letter for you. Smiling you pick up the letter and give the eagle owl a snack before it flies off.
The envelope is black with a green wax seal with the Malfoy family crest pressed into the wax, Draco. He was your friend and neighbor since you were small but despite 'the prince' of Slytherin's' tough and arrogant persona he was still that kind-hearted kid you used to play with all those years ago. You opened the letter and began to read it.
The letter reads:
Y/n,
Meet me in my mother's garden as soon as you can, I found something in the library that might be worth looking into regarding your favorite subject. I know that clever mind of yours can't say no to a puzzle like the one I've found. See you soon Pegasus.
~Your favorite troublemaker
Draco
PS. I know you'll meet Granger at Platform 9¾ tomorrow but please don't tell that know it all about this. Don't want her telling Potter and Weasbee.
You sighed as Draco was indeed your favorite troublemaker despite his attitude towards some of your friends, especially Hermione Granger. You thought back to your first adventures with Draco as you got ready for the day. You met each other around the age of five when you moved from London to Wiltshire after your grandmother passed. Your parents’ inherited the family mansion, the house seemed gigantic as a child when you first moved in but once you met Draco the house turned into a stage for great adventures.
You smiled at the memory of meeting Draco the first time, it was one day late spring after you finally finished moving into the mansion. Mr. And Mrs. Malfoy came over and introduced themselves while Draco held onto his mother’s hand tightly till he saw you. Both your parents smiled as you invited Draco to come play while your parents talked about things going on within the Ministry of Magic.
Things were simpler back then as little kids. You'd both spend most of your summers exploring each other's mansions, reading in the libraries what you could, and having your 'Adventures' in the gardens. You smiled at the memories as you started to get ready. You put on a pair of dark grey shorts, a black tank top, and a denim jacket with your black ankle boots. You looked at yourself in the mirror and smiled to yourself as you put on some light makeup and French braided your h/c hair. Taking a deep breath as you stand up from your vanity and grab your messenger bag putting it on your shoulder. Making your way downstairs you grabbed two green apples from the kitchen island and made your way towards Malfoy Manor.
Draco's POV
It was a little over a half hour since Draco sent Y/n that letter. She would come over to see what he had found, she always did when it could be a new adventure for them. But this time something felt different about this one. He was pacing in the kitchen as one of the house elves prepared breakfast for Draco and Narcissa.
"Draco darling, please sit and eat. You're gonna make the floor warp from all your pacing" Narcissa said as she watched her son pace anxiously.
"Sorry, Mum. It's just that Y/n is coming over soon and I have to tell her about a puzzle I found." Draco said quietly as he sat down across from his mother at the kitchen table. His mother smiled at him as one of the house elves put breakfast on the table.
"Y/n is an extraordinary girl," Narcissa said as she started eating breakfast, "And a pretty one too," she said while smiling at her son.
"Yeah she is," Draco said as a blush formed on his cheeks before he realized what he said, "I mean she is pretty but she's just a friend mum," he said trying to change the subject.
"Right, a friend who is a girl who is closer to you than that one girl you briefly dated last year. What was her name again? Patrica? Piper? Prudence?" Narcissa said teasing her son about his developing feelings for Y/n.
"Pansy mum. She started dating Blaise this summer," He said as he groaned thinking about his short relationship with Pansy that turned out to be nothing other than friends. He was happy for his friends' relationship but he wondered if his friendship with Y/n was just a friendship.
"Ah yes, Pansy. She and Blaise will make a cute couple," she says looking at how her son reacted to her teasing, "Now what is this puzzle you want to show Y/n?", she said after taking a sip of her tea and looking at her son who had barely touched his food.
"Well you know how Y/n is practically obsessed with Merlin and Morgan le Fay's history," Draco said as he looked out the kitchen window smiling as he continued, "I may have found something referencing Merlin but it's in a code," he said as he saw Y/n slowly making her way to the manor.
"Another one of your little quests," Narcissa said referring to how the two would make up 'quests' when they were younger as she looked out the window she saw Y/n opening the back gate. "Well, I'll let you two start your new adventure," she said as she got up and took their plates to the sink.
Y/n POV
Walking up to the gate of Malfoy Manor you felt a bit of excitement as you slowly opened the large gate. You saw Draco in the kitchen window talking with his mother as you slowly made your way through the huge backyard. You always liked Draco's mother Narcissa, she always made you feel welcome whenever you and Draco hung out despite Lucius not wanting you around much since you called him out on his pureblood bullshit.
"Ah Ms. Constantine to what do I owe the pleasure of you visiting this morning," Lucius said coldly as he looked at you from his table under a willow tree.
"Good Morning Mr. Malfoy. Draco had something he wanted to show me so I came over as soon as could," you said trying to sound your normal pleasant self which was hard since Lucius Malfoy made your blood boil most times.
"Draco is in the kitchen with his mother, Good day Ms. Constantine," He said as he simply waved you off as he picked up his cup of tea, and the Daily Prophet completely uninterested in you.
"Good day," you said as you continued making your way to the garden which was past the kitchen you started to calm down.
Despite being friends with Draco for so long and knowing the Malfoy's for most of your life you could never get used to Lucius Malfoy's attitude and cold demeanor. Thankfully unlike her husband, Narcissa enjoyed you and was pleasant and kind, unlike her husband. As you walked past one of the kitchen windows you saw Narcissa talking with the house elves. She was much kinder to the house elves and treated them as if they were people rather than servants. As you continued on you saw Draco pacing as he had a few books on the small garden table.
"You know if you keep pacing like that the grass will stop growing Draco," you chuckled as you walked up to the pacing boy scaring him out of his thoughts.
"Bloody Hell Y/n you scared me," Draco said as he looked at you and clenched his chest as some of his hair fell over his eyes.
"Well it's your fault you were too deep in your thoughts that you didn't notice me," you said as you threw him an apple before taking a bite of your own, "Now what do you have for me to solve," smirking as you watched Draco catch the apple and smile at you.
"Good morning to you too," smiling as he took a bite of the apple, "So I was looking through the library since my father bought another old book collection. I looked through them and found that a few books were written entirely in some code."
"Some code or just Old English," you took out a magnifying glass from your bag before setting the bag down beside one of the chairs.
"Very Funny Y/n. But Old English I can translate. This is something beyond my skill level, surprisingly," Draco said a bit annoyed as he watched you examine the text carefully line by line.
"Surprisingly," you chuckle as you continue to examine the text.
As you examined the text it was indeed in some form of code but none that you have seen before. In the past few years while at Hogwarts, you developed a reputation of being one of the best 'code breakers' and helped translate books and texts for some extra credit for Professor Binns. After looking over the first couple of pages you take a notebook out and start writing down a few sentences and phrases. This was definitely one of the harder codes to crack but several words seemed to repeat creating a pattern in the code.
~After a few hours and several breaks later. ~
You close your notebook in excitement as you look up at Draco beaming with joy.
"You found something?" he said as he knew that smile meant you had figured out part of the puzzle.
"Maybe, these other two books are the same code?" looking at the other books around the same size but instead of being tome, they were older looking as if from the early 10th century which was most likely magically preserved.
"Well that's the thing," he said as he reached past you to pick up one of the leather-bound books, "I think these are journals," opening the book you see a neat handwriting that was oddly similar to a few books in the restricted section.
"Draco where did your father get these again?" looking up at the boy who was so close you could feel his breath on you as you looked up to those gray eyes.
"He didn't, unfortunately," Draco said as he looked at those e/c eyes of yours and smiled, "But if you look here," he opened to the last page of the one journal where there was a name on the bottom left corner.
"Merlin.." you said as if you couldn't believe what your own eyes were seeing as this was one of the journals of Merlin himself. "Draco you need to bring these wit-"
"Me to Hogwarts so that you can research it more and figure out what actually happened to Merlin this could be one of the biggest discoveries of all wizard kind," he said smiling as he closed both books, "I'm way ahead of you Pegasus, as always."
"I wouldn't say always, Dragon," dropping the nickname you gave him when you were younger and found out about his namesake. Just as he did when he found out your birthday coincided with the constellation Pegasus. Both of you smiled at each other as you packed up your bag again.
"So will you be on the train with Granger, Pottah, and Weasbee tomorrow?" he asked cautiously and dryly as he watched you pack up your stuff not wanting you to go just yet.
"Do I sense a hint of jealousy from the 'prince' of Slytherin? Because green is your color after all." teasing your best friend as you finish packing up turning to look at him as his arms are now crossed and he's looking at you with a mix of jealousy, anger, and hurt in his eyes. You always hated to see when he got like this but you suppose that's what happens when your father is a prick.
"Draco," you said softly as you walked up to him taking one of his hands, "We can sit together on the train after I say hello to Minoe and Luna. Plus we can look at these journals more. If you can sneak them out of the Manor," you say trying to calm him down.
"Taking them to Hogwarts will be easy, unlike avoiding Weasbee and Granger's arguments all year. I still don't know why you are friends with that bloo-," Draco stopped himself before saying something he knew you'd hate him for, "Bloody idiot." he said as he looked away.
"Well, I mean it comes with being friends with Mione. I can normally tolerate Ron but lately, it's just weird," looking down at the ground you think about how the train ride at the end of the year felt strange.
"I know how much you can't stand the tension between Granger and Weasbee as of late. You told me that much," chuckling as holds your hand gently thinking back to your hour-long rant.
It was true that Hermione and Ron had some weird tension between each other since the Yule Ball. Some kind of jealousy sparked in Ron whenever Hermione was around Viktor Krum. Now every time Hermione gets close to another boy Ron calls her out. It was driving you insane how dense Ron actually was.
"I just wish Minoe could tell that thick-headed boy how she felt about him. It's so obvious that the whole school can see it," you say as you look at how you are holding hands with Draco and blush a bit.
"Weasbee is as dense as they come especially when he tried to hex me with that broken wand," he says as he starts laughing which in turn makes you laugh.
"Stop it that was terrible for Ron," giggling as you playfully hit him on the shoulder.
"The number of slugs that he," Draco couldn't get the words out as he continued laughing.
You both stood there laughing for a bit as you remembered the slug incident. You remembered also how confused Draco was as you yelled at him for calling Hermione a 'mud blood'. From that day on anything he said about blood status was almost always followed by you yelling at him about how outdated those views were. And after almost 4 months of yelling and lecturing him, Draco started to think differently. As both of you eventually regained the ability to speak again you remembered that you still needed to pack.
"Shit, I gotta go pack," letting go of Draco's hand and giving him a small hug. "I'll see you tomorrow Draco."
"See you tomorrow Y/n." He smiled as he hugged you before he watched you walk home.
