Moths To A Flame
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Being a detective wasn't easy in New Jersey. It becomes even harder when you're tasked with capturing demons, witches, and other supernatural beings. Juggling that herculean task leaves your love life high and dry. Despite this, your friends encourage you to find a partner. That leap of faith lands you the perfect girlfriend, but what if that protection is only an illusion?
Warnings: dark themes, manipulation, tracking, obsession, possessive behavior, gore, blood, organs, gentle kidnapping (?), Stockholm Syndrome, smut, afab reader (no gendered terms), pet names (baby, puppy), fingering, brief orgasm denial, rough sex, gentle sex, pet play, mommy kink, strap on use
Author's Note: this shit took nine billion years but I'm so proud of myself :)
Being a detective meant you had to be ready for everything. It didn’t matter where you were or what you were doing, sometimes you'd have to drop everything for the sake of justice. Working with regular everyday criminals was one thing, but it became even harder when you were up against the supernatural and occultists. That often meant you'd be forced to cut a date short or leave the house at odd hours, a combination that certainly wasn't ideal for many relationships. You were fine with that. Your job was important and you weren't selfish enough to demand someone stay by your side despite how little time you had for them.
Your friends on the other hand were less okay with that revelation. No matter how many times you reminded them of your undateable schedule, they signed you up for dating apps and websites without care.
Sometimes it was "Everybody needs somebody!'" as Monica would insist. She was always the romantic one among your friends. Other times, you'd get a much more practical "I can't keep coming over here to patch your ass up and cook you." from Sam. There was nothing you could do to get any of them off your case besides get a girlfriend so you just decided to let them have their fun.
Now you were a little upset you let them do it.
After a few days of humoring her flirtatious texts and eventually trading phone numbers, you landed yourself a date with one of the most beautiful women you'd ever seen. Her fiery red hair and serene emerald eyes pulled you in with ease. The way she spoke to you had you wrapped around her fingers in only a matter of days. Just the sound of her smooth, sultry voice made goosebumps rise over your skin. For a moment, you were worried you'd fallen for a siren.
Now that she was sitting just arm's length away, you were sure she wasn't. Wanda was just a really pretty woman.
"What, never seen a pretty girl before?" Wanda asked with an amused smile. She noticed you were staring on the car ride here. It was adorable. You were so easy to tease and fluster.
"Not one as pretty as you," You said without thinking. It wasn't until Wanda started laughing that you even registered what you said. "I- Sorry, I'm just not…I'm not used to dates and stuff like that." A blush covered your face in a matter of seconds. Your hands nervously played with the fork on the table to distract yourself.
Wanda rested her hand on top of yours and leaned in to whisper in your ear. "If you keep playing your cards like this, we might have to leave here a little earlier than intended." She placed a soft kiss on your cheek before leaning back in her seat. A proud smirk covered her features, the exact opposite of the bashful smile on yours.
Controlling your heart rate during the rest of the date was near impossible. Your only saving grace was the waiter coming by with your food. Even that didn't stop Wanda from teasing. She saw it as more of a reason to do it. Wanda had already taken the lead by ordering for you but continued to dominate you subtly just in case you didn't catch the hint.
The final nail in the coffin was when it was time to pay. When you reached into your pocket to pay for it, your wallet was mysteriously gone.
"What? I swear I put it in here…" You glanced up at Wanda to find your wallet sandwiched between two of her fingers. "How did you do that? I felt it in my pocket until a second ago." It was like magic. Not as grand and chaotic as the one you encountered on your job, but certainly had an air of mystery. You would've sensed it by now if she was.
Wanda winked and tossed you your wallet. "You seem like the chivalrous type, it was just a precaution." She reached across the table for your hand and squeezed it gently. "I couldn't let you drive me all the way here and pay for our food. That's just unfair."
The drive to Wanda's apartment was dead silent. Not that you two had run out of things to talk about, but because Wanda's teasing persisted and you were worried you'd crash the car.
A sigh of relief escaped your lips as you safely parked in front of Wanda's apartment. It seemed much bigger now that it was dark. "Um, tonight was fun and I appreciate you for inviting me out." The words left your mouth in a rushed haze as Wanda began to play with the strands of your hair next to your ear.
"Well, I was thinking we could take our little party up to my room and keep it going." Wanda's hand cupped your chin and forced you to face her. "That's only if you want to, sweetness." Her thumb rubbed over your bottom lip. "If you're too needy, I could always take you right here."
Just the thought made you wet. "Um, I- Public sex is a misdemeanor, your bedroom is much better." Wanda's amused giggle made your ears burn. You were thankful she thought everything you did was cute. Your fun fact earned you a kiss on the cheek before Wanda got out of the car and led you toward her apartment building. You could tell it was expensive from the outside, but just getting to the elevator made you feel like some cheap peasant.
Wanda didn't give you much time to lament about your financial situation because she pounced on you the second the elevator door closed.
Wanda wasted no time exploring your mouth. Her tongue wrapped around yours and sucked to her heart's content. "Fuck, you have no idea how long I've wanted to touch you like this." Her arms snaked around your waist to keep you still. The stiffness of your body would've been adorable if she wasn't trying to strip you naked. "Relax, we're going straight to the penthouse floor with no interruptions," She whispered into your ear before kissing the side of your neck.
Just as you began to give in to Wanda's seduction, you caught on. "Did you say penthouse?" You glanced behind Wanda and saw the biggest apartment you'd ever seen. "Oh my god, you live here by yourself?" You slowly stepped out of the elevator in awe.
Wanda grabbed you by your collar and guided you to her bedroom. She has you pinned up against the door in a matter of seconds. Your questions about her house were quickly muffled by your pathetic whining. Her hands began to explore your body excitedly. She grabbed your ass and was surprised to feel some strange hardness. "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" She asked teasingly.
You cleared your throat nervously and pulled out the object in your pocket. "It's just my badge, I keep it on me in case I get called out." The words die in your mouth as you watch Wanda carelessly toss it to the side. You leaned forward to get it only to be pushed back against the wall. "I need to be able to find that in the morning, what if-"
Wanda cut you off with another kiss and began unbuttoning your shirt. "And I'll help you find it if you need it. Just focus on me right now. Pretty please?" It was like she got prettier every time you looked at her. Her lips are quick to cover any newly exposed skin in kisses. It takes so much self-restraint not to litter your skin with bite marks and hickeys, but she pacifies the desire by just lightly nibbling on your skin. "You sure know how to dress nice."
Your brain is far too clouded with lust to form a proper response. Instead, your brain focused on the way she slowly began unbuttoning your pants and pulling down your underwear. The skin of your thighs isn't given the same leeway as your stomach and they're littered with bruises in a matter of seconds. "Ah, you're rough!"
Wanda chuckled darkly. "Something tells me you like it that way." Two of her fingers ran down your slit and were immediately covered in your slick. She eased one of them inside of your cunt and started at an agonizingly slow pace. "I know you wanna be fucked senseless baby, but I gotta stretch out this little hole of yours first." A satisfied hum escaped her lips as you began mindlessly grinding against her. All it took was a little praise and you were hers to keep.
Another one of her fingers slipped into your hole and she spread them apart. She could feel your walls fluttering already. "Poor baby. You need to cum?" A proud smirk spread across her lips. Watching you hold off an orgasm was the cutest thing ever. You squirmed and whined while biting your hand, but none of it worked. The second her fingers rubbed against that spongy patch of nerves inside of you, you were done for. "There we go, let it out."
You shuddered and whimpered helplessly as Wanda's fingers continued to make a mess of your hole. Every word you tried to speak left your mouth in a string of broken moans. "Ah, right, that's- that's enough," You whispered with all the firmness of a tired kitten.
Eventually, Wanda pulled away and helped you stand upright. "Oh sweetness, I hope you didn't think that's all I had planned for you." She forced her fingers into your mouth. "Good little detectives like you deserve a reward, don't they?"
☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲
The adventures of last night left your body aching. Wanda's self-restraint whittled away the more opportunities you gave her to use your body. The love bites littering your chest was proof enough. You rarely got the chance to bottom and even then no one had ever spoiled you that much before. It was like a dream come true.
But of course, you had a job to do and that always came before romance.
"Hello," You said into the phone without checking the caller ID.
"Hey, uh, how fast can you get to Upper Montclair?" Monica asked nervously.
"Monica?" You immediately got out of bed and looked outside the window. "About half an hour. What's the problem?" The search for your badge and clothes was frantic and quickly proved to be unsuccessful. At least your shoes were where they should've been.
"There was a fire in one of the condos up here."
You stopped your search. "A fire? Monica, that's the fire department's job, not ours."
"If it was just a fire I wouldn't have called you! There are these weird symbols in the ashes and Jimmy doesn't want any of the guys touching anything without you here."
You sighed and continued looking for your clothes. "Alright, tell the guys I'll be down there in a half hour…if I find my clothes that is." You grumbled as you searched underneath the bed. Monica's excited gasp almost made you drop your phone. "I'll tell you everything when there are no magic fire runes to deal with, okay?" You hung up the phone.
After nearly twenty minutes of aimless searching, you found your clothes neatly folded and your badge freshly shined on top of the dryer. You put them on in a rush and made your way toward the elevator.
Just as you pushed the button to go down, the elevator opened. "You're back," You said as your eyes trailed down to the bag of food in Wanda's hand. "And you brought breakfast…god I'm so sorry." You were disappointed in yourself. Whether it was because you were about to break Wanda's heart or because you weren't fast enough to avoid her you aren't sure. "Last night was really fun, but- but I can't just hang up on work. I promise I'll make it up to you when I have the time."
The corners of Wanda's mouth flicked upwards in what you thought would be a sad smile. "Hey, it's alright. You told me last night, I just wish I left a bit earlier." She handed you one of the bags in her hands. "Just eat up and call me when you have the time. We'll work out a second date later." Wanda affectionately pinched your cheek before going to the kitchen.
You were shocked. Most people weren't as understanding when it came to your random work calls. It was a first. Not only that, you had a second date. That realization didn't even hit you until you pressed the first-floor button. Your first second date with a girl. "Thank you for last night!" You said excitedly just as the elevator closed.
Your head was so far in the clouds, you almost forgot about the grim scene waiting for you.
As the smell of ash and smoke filled your lungs, you began dreading the investigation ahead of you. Something strong had been in the area, you could feel it in your gut. Magic and murder mixed quite often in New Jersey. It didn't matter if it was the pretty mansions or the overcrowded apartment complexes downtown. Blood sacrifices, demon summonings, and generational curses. You'd seen it all, but none of it had ever been as professional as what lay in front of you. For one, the fire didn't jump. Even though there was less than a foot of space between the condos, only one had been destroyed. The one still standing didn't even have ash on it.
"Well, this was certainly personal." You began taking photos of the runes and rubble. A heavy sigh escaped your lips as you put on the latex gloves Monica handed you. "Do we have any casualties?"
"One dead and one injured but all other tenants escaped unharmed." Monica was one of your closest friends. She knew how you worked better than anyone at your station. Working with her was the easiest thing in the world. "Vision and Tony Stark. I tried talking to Tony but I think he's still in a state of shock. That and he looks sick, but not burned. I think you should check him out before anything."
You looked over at the ambulance. Sitting out the back was a man not much older than yourself. His hair had streaks of fading brown and the bags under his eyes seemed exaggerated by the looming cloud of dread. "Okay, I need you and Jimmy to search for anything magical while I try talking to Tony." You took the sunglasses hanging off your shirt collar and put them in Monica's face. Enchanted glasses always came in handy when working with the nonmagical.
You grabbed a bag out of your car. It was full of herbs and potions. If Tony wasn't burned, it was likely he was feeling the side effects of whatever spell that was meant for his brother.
"Hello, I'm Detective L/N." You stuck out your hand for the other man to shake.
"James Stark, his husband, but Rhodey is fine." Rhodey shook your hand firmly. His face was tense. "We're not going to be much use, just got here ten minutes ago and Tony hasn't spoken a word."
You nodded. "Well, I did come to ask questions, but part of my job is making sure everyone on the scene is safe. I just want to make sure your husband isn't suffering from any spells or curses." You placed your bag down and gestured towards Tony "May I?" When Rhodey gave you his approval you began your inspection immediately.
Fortunately, you weren't working against anything too crazy. You couldn't figure out what exactly caused it, but it wasn't difficult to undo. Slowly, the paleness in Tony's face faded away.
"Please come by the station as soon as possible for questioning, but there's no rush at all." You pulled a contact card out of thin air. "Don't hesitate to call me if you have any questions or concerns."

Tracking down witches was never easy. It was even harder to do on an empty stomach. The easiest way to combat that was to track down witches in a local diner. You, Monica, Darcy, and Jimmy were all regulars at May's Diner. The four of you spent countless hours in the booth writing up reports and putting together information. That or you'd just spend hours eating your frustrations away. Today it seemed to be the second.
"I'm stomped. This doesn't look like any of the symbols in this book," Darcy complained while nibbling on a french fry.
You groaned and closed the book in front of you. "I got nothing either." With Tony still sick and the runes undeciphered, the investigation was already at a standstill. This was already starting to get a little difficult but you were determined to keep pushing.
"Cheesecake for the lead detective."
You shook your head and immediately handed the plate back to the waitress. "Pete, tell your aunt to stop giving us free dessert every time she thinks we need to take a break. I'll lose all my teeth at this rate."
The young man frowned as he put the plate back on the table. "We both know she's never gonna do that, but this is just for you. The lady at the cash register bought it." He tilted his head in the direction of the registrar.
It was Wanda.
You didn't even sense her entering the diner. "Fuck, oh my god. Thank you, Peter." You quickly took off your jacket and smoothed down your shirt before leaving the booth. "Hey, Wanda. How's it going?" The expression on her face was unreadable. Was she upset with you or just happy to see you?
Wanda's hand immediately reached out to cup your face. Your cheek fitted perfectly in her hand as she began to caress it. "You didn't call me last night and I was worried you got hurt." She said teasingly, but there was a twinge of bitterness in the way she spoke. "I see now you were just exploring your options." She frowned as she shyly played with your fingers.
God, she could pull at your heartstrings sometimes.
It broke your heart to see Wanda upset. "Hey, it's not like that at all," You whispered. You gave her hand a firm squeeze and stood closer. "I got a little hyper-focused on it and haven't been thinking about much else." Explaining yourself seemed to make Wanda feel a little better but you wanted to make sure she was okay. "Are you free tonight? I have to go back to the station soon and clock out, maybe we can go out afterward?"
Wanda hummed. "Alright, but you have to promise me that you won't end up leaving before breakfast this time." She stuck out her pinkie finger.
You laughed and wrapped your pinkie around Wanda's. "I promise to stay until breakfast." It was childish, but a promise was a promise and those couldn't be broken easily.
☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲
As the investigation dragged on, things began to heat up in more ways than one. The cool breezes of spring had disappeared and the bold flames of summer started to lap at your skin. Wanda was becoming a much more constant part of your life. Most importantly, Tony was starting to recover.
Though it wasn't a part of your job to do so, you decided to keep tabs on Tony. His recovery was integral to the case. He was your only key witness and you couldn't afford to lose him. This meant you'd occasionally have to make sporadic, late-night calls with Rhodey to keep up with them.
"The doctor says he's experiencing a bit of brain fog and that could take months for him to get over, but I think he's good enough to answer a few questions."
That wasn't the best news to hear, but it was something. "Well, I still need to take emotional distress into account so I'll give it another few days before questioning him." It was around eleven pm when Rhodey had called but it didn't feel right letting it go to voicemail. Rhodey had enough on his plate taking care of his husband and running a business, the last thing he needed was for you to be flaky in your communication. "I must ask, how are you feeling going through all of this?"
Rhodey sighed. "I don't have any reason to think this, but I'm just worried someone is going to come after Tony next. It's just unsettling." The unrest was heavy in voice.
You nodded along. "I understand. If you find anything that even remotely suggests that, just call me and I'll do my best to have you both out under witness protection. Please try to rest easy, for all three of us." You and Rhodey talked for nearly an hour. It would have been longer if a familiar pair of lips hadn't begun attacking your neck. "It's getting late — ah— I'll call you later this week." Rhodey's goodbye fell on deaf ears as Wanda continued staking her claim.
How did she always manage to sneak up on you?
"You said you wouldn't leave," Wanda said with a heavy pout. Her hand slipped underneath your sleep shorts and headed straight for your crouch. It cupped the warmth between your legs and hummed. "Does my little worry detective need help to get back to bed?"
A blush spread across your face as Wanda began to grope your thigh. "I was coming back to bed, I just had to take a call." You desperately tried to collect the files you spread out across the table. "Let me clean up and I'll come back right after."
Wanda's eyes landed on one of the photographs that landed on the floor. She let go of you and immediately picked it up. Her face immediately fell. "Do you know what this stands for?" Wanda asked, pointing to the symbol in the photo. The features on her face turned to stone.
You took the photo from Wanda and glanced over it. "Uh, no actually it's had me stomped for weeks." You slipped the photo back into the folder and stacked it neatly on the table. "Don't worry though, my witness is healthy again so I'll be able to move forward just fine!" Wanda's serious expression was lost on you. Cases got slow sometimes. There was no way for Wanda to know that but you didn't want her worrying about you too much. "Why don't we go back to bed, yeah?"
Wanda grabbed you by the shoulders and turned you around. "I'm gonna tell you something and I need you to listen to me every step of the way." She dragged you to the bedroom and forced you to sit down. Once you settled down, she bolted over to her closet and began shuffling things around.
You were endeared at first. You thought Wanda had a book she thought would help or maybe she even recognized the symbol. If that had been the case, it would've been helpful. Maybe even a little cute. It only took one metallic click for your thoughts to change. "What are you looking for?" You asked nervously.
There was something magical in Wanda's closet. You could feel it. Something older and much more powerful than you. Just being in its presence was suffocating. It was almost nauseating.
Wanda pulled out a book. It was heavy and covered with dust and runes you could never begin to understand. "I know you probably don't believe in this kinda stuff but my mom used to tell me this story about a witch." The book was huge, but she held it with ease. She opened it to reveal a drawing with a tall woman surrounded by magical symbols that were foreign. "That was a symbol of the Scarlet Witch."
The evil radiating from the was practically suffocating you. "What- who is the Scarlet Witch? I've never heard anything like that before in my life." Terror had overtaken your entire body, but you didn't want to back down. It was the first actual lead you had. "I mean like, obviously she's a witch but what kind?"
Wanda watched your facial expressions carefully. You leaned away from her like something was going to jump out of the book and grab you. She just giggled and cupped your face. "It's late so I won't scare you, but just promise you'll be safe going forward. Okay?" She placed a kiss on the top of your head and got up to put the book away.
You sent a text to Darcy about what Wanda told you. Though you tried your hardest to act unaffected by the story, the tight grip you had on Wanda while you slept was a dead giveaway.
☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲
"I was doing some research on what you sent me the other day and I'm about to completely ruin you guys' weekend." Darcy placed the large stack of files on your countertop. "I did organize all of them from oldest to newest and put some notes in there but the three of you are gonna have to read all of this."
Sometimes cases got too graphic to be studied in May's Diner and the only other option was to board up in someone's house until all of you made a breakthrough. Since you were the only one with enough food in your fridge and counter space for everyone to work, it usually ended up being your house.
A heavy sigh escaped through your nostrils. "Alright, well let's get this going." You grabbed the file off the very top and opened it. Most of the magic identification was left up to you but Jimmy, Monica, and Darcy took care of profiling and other things. The cases became more and more disturbing, but you swallowed the fear and kept pushing for the sake of justice. If all of these cases had been done by one person, they needed to be caught.
But the longer you kept researching, the more strange things started to occur. Every case you studied came with another wave of nearly unexplainable sleepiness and no amount of cold water or coffee shook it. Then you'd catch glimpses of someone staring at you through your window. Your vision would blur and your ears would ring at random. You worried someone in your neighborhood was playing with magic, but you would've detected it if they were this close.
Then, someone knocked at your door. You all turned to look at each other.
"Did y'all order anything?" You asked. Everyone shook their heads and you got up to open the door. You didn't know why, but you felt sick to your stomach. Something was wrong. Your heart pounded in your ears with every step you took. Everything moved slowly.
Only for no one to be at your door. The street was empty and dead quiet. Not even your neighbors were up. Except for the mysterious plastic bag sitting on your porch. Hesitantly, you picked it up and brought it to the counter in front of everyone.
"This feels wrong." You said, eyeing the bag in front of you. There was no smell or markings on it, but it made your skin crawl. It set off so many alarm bells in your head. "Someone else should open it."
Everyone's fingers touched their nose at the same time.
Jimmy clocked his tongue. "It could be nothing. Maybe some door dash driver dropped it off. It could be a neighbor's!" He always tried to be reasonable even in the most senseless situations. Even when he was just as irrational as the rest of you.
"You open it then!"
Jimmy stepped back. "I didn't say we had to open it. I just said we could give it to the neighbors."
Monica grabbed a pencil from the counter and threw it at the bag. "It's not an animal…or at least it's a dead one."
You huffed out and headed to your bathroom to get a pair of latex gloves. "Fine, I'll open it. Either it's nothing and I'm crazy or it's something and I'm calling the station." The confidence in your voice didn't match the growing sickness in your stomach. You walked back to the counter and slowly untied the knot in the bag. The brown box inside had a note attached to it. "Your heart should only beat for me…heart emoticon." You could feel bile rising in your throat. The ink didn't look right. It was a weird faded red color and pooled in seemingly random places.
All that was left to open was the box. You carefully took it out of the paper bag and placed it on the space of your counter. Your eyes instinctively closed as you removed the lid of the box. A distinct smell of blood hit your nose. It was worse than anything you could have imagined.
A still beating heart with your name and badge number burned into it.
"Call the station, call the station!" You shouted as you slammed the lid back on.
It had taken about ten minutes for the police to arrive at your house. In that time, both you and Monica had thrown up and Jimmy had gone into a panicked fit pacing around your house trying to find signs of an intruder that didn't exist. All four of you were forced to sit outside while other officers searched your home and tapped it off.
You could sense another magic user in the area.
"Detective L/N?" A tall, much older woman approached you slowly like you were some injured kitten waiting to be picked up. She had on a dark purple windbreaker and a beanie to match. "I'm Detective Harkness, but you can call me Agatha." Her smile was small but genuine. Most importantly, she was very strong. It made sense because she had some years on you. You felt honored just to be in her presence. "The other officers spoke very highly of you on the way here, I can tell you're very talented."
Her words made your heart flutter. Of course, you'd never say it out loud but thrived on praise and validation. It was even better coming from a pretty woman. "I- thank you Detective Harkness, but I must ask why you're here. I thought they were just getting the human heart out of my house"
Agatha's face fell. "There's no real easy way to tell you this, but all four of you are being taken off this case."
Your heart dropped. "I-I'm sorry, what?" Maybe it was some sick joke or another of those hyperrealistic nightmares you had when you fall asleep right after reading case files. "Detective Harkness, I'm sure this isn't your doing but I'm the only witch in this district." You were pissed. Months of research and investigating were snatched right out of your hands over something so stupid. "You can't take us off just cause some freak left a heart on my doorstep!"
"A human heart on your doorstep that had a note written in blood and your badge number engraved into it." Agatha gave your shoulder a firm squeeze. "I get it. If we can prove it's not a serious threat we'll put you back on but for now, just find somewhere safe to stay for the next few weeks and I'll get back as soon as possible. Get some rest tonight and we'll work on getting you guys relocated as soon as possible." The older woman slipped a card into your pocket.
You let Agatha walk away. Even though you didn't want to say it, she was right. This case was bigger than you and it was even bigger than your friends. Who knows what kind of danger you'd put yourself in trying to catch your suspect? You took a deep breath. "Okay. We got this. I'll just crash in Jimmy's futon tonight and find a decent hotel to sleep in until I get my house back. I'm fine. We're going to be fine."
Your friends all shared a look but chose not to say anything.
Some hours later, you were curled up on Jimmy's futon dreading the day ahead of you. You had already called Rhodey and Tony to give them Agatha's contact information. The reality of your situation had only just settled in. Your suspect had their eyes on you and you had no idea how to protect yourself. Everything felt hopeless and there was nothing you could do to distract yourself.
Then your phone rang.
Wanda was calling you, but you weren’t entirely sure wanted to answer it. Wanda could always tell when you were upset and that made it near impossible to keep secrets from her, but maybe you needed to be honest.
You press the green button on your screen and put the phone against your ear. "Hey, Wanda."
"Hey, Sweetness! Are you okay? I know you said you were working late but I just want to check in on you." Wanda's voice was silk smooth as it filled your ears.
The sleepy rasp in her voice brought your comfort. "I want to tell you I am but I don't think that's the right thing to do. I'm not even sure I can legally tell you what's wrong." You could hear the sound of her sitting up on the bed. Your fingers played with the flimsy bed sheet underneath you. "I...I got removed for the case and I won't be going back to work for at least a month."
"What? Did they suspend you?" Wanda was surprised. Sure she had planned for it to happen, but she didn't think it'd happen so quickly. "You're not in trouble, are you? My family knows a good lawyer if-"
You flinched at the sudden yelling. "No, I didn't do anything wrong and I'm not wanted for anything. They just want me to go somewhere else for a bit until they catch the arsonist." You tried your very best to make the situation sound as simple and harmless as possible. "It's not like witness protection exactly but my house is currently a crime scene so-"
"A crime scene!? Where are you, I'm coming to pick you up right now!" Wanda got out of bed and immediately grabbed her keys.
"No no no, I'm fine right now! I'm safely in Jimmy's house and sleeping here until they figure out what they need me to do." You ran your fingers through your hair. "They'll probably want me out of town for a bit. I couldn't stay at your apartment even if I wanted to."
"I have a cabin a few hours away! It's a bit out there but I'm willing to drive us both out there if it means keeping you safe." Wanda's tone was frantic but serious at the same time. "We don't even have to stay the whole time you're off. Just two weeks to get your mind off things, please?" The whine in her voice was heavy.
"Are you pouting?" The small 'mhm' made you laugh a little. "Alright, fine. Just gimme a few days to do the serious detective stuff and then I'll pack what I can." You couldn't help but smile and Wanda's excited cheers. "Now I gotta get to sleep…I love you, good night."
"I've always loved you."
☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲
Love was a very loaded word for Wanda. To be loved by Wanda was to be hers completely. Wanda told you that early into your relationship, but you were starting to see the extent of that living with her for days with little to no interruptions.
Wanda had been very handsy. Every time you walked by she'd grope and tease you as long as you later her — which was never for a short period. It happened so much you just decided to go without pants or a shirt. It wasn't the best solution considering it was just an incentive for Wanda's addiction to your body to worsen.
You were spoiled and loved every second of it, but you were starting to get antsy. Wanda didn't let you do anything. Occasionally, she'd let you accompany her to the store or take you to the beach — but even that lost its novelty after three weeks. You didn't want to sound ungrateful, but you were bored. Being idle was like a death sentence for you.
Despite all the love in her heart she had for you, Wanda seemed uncharacteristically apathetic to your complaints. You were starting to worry the relationship wasn’t going to work. Things you used to love about Wanda were starting to irritate you. She was starting to smother you. You weren’t even sure why you liked it in the first place.
"Wanda, can I go into the city for a bit? I'll be back in time for lunch." The heavy pout on your face and collar on your neck did nothing to sway Wanda's answer. You groaned and made your way back to the shared bedroom. The once lush sheets now felt uncomfortable and suffocating against your skin. You learned pretty quickly not to stomp off whining or whimpering because Wanda would handle your frustrations. Which wouldn't be a problem if she had a solution besides fucking you senseless. That brain would get foggy and all you could think about was clinging to Wanda.
After frustratedly tossing and turning on your bed you realized something. You didn't need Wanda's approval to do anything. Asking was just a courtesy. Nothing was stopping you from putting on your clothes, hopping in the car, and going out to explore the city close by. That's exactly what you did. You washed your face, got dressed in the nicest clothes you had, and grabbed your keys. Then, you headed for the front door. It was that simple.
"Where are you going?"
Wanda's cold voice made you shiver. "I'm going out. I just need some fresh air, I'll be back soon." You unlocked the door only for it to lock back. A frown formed on your face, but you kept tugging at it until a hot red mist surrounded it. "Ah! What the fuck is wrong with the door." You shook your hands to ease the hot pain.
Wanda grabbed both your hands and peppered them with kisses. "I said no. You need to learn how to listen." Her voice was still stern despite the affection she gave you. "If you need to go out, play around in the backyard but you are not to leave this cabin." She squeezed them gently before letting go. "I know your little puppy brain is telling you to run around and do whatever, but you have to do what mommy says." A confident smirk spread across her face and a blush spread across yours.
You huffed and stomped your way out towards the backyard. The breeze did very little to cool your heated skin. You hated being so easily flustered. Wanda wasn't above using it to her advantage. That anger caused something to shift and you couldn’t tell what is was. It was like someone had taken off your rose-colored glasses. "Go away. I'm not in the mood to talk." You could sense her before Wanda even said a word. Something wasn't right. Wanda's presence usually slipped under your radar. She was always a pleasant surprise. Now she felt big. Bigger than anything else you've ever been around.
"Oh sweetness, you're so strong and don't even know it." Wanda's hand reached down and gripped your neck with uncharacteristic amounts of strength. "Shush, your little attitude put you in this situation." She let you thrash around and scream to your heart's content. Watching you struggle always stirred up something deep and sadistic within her.
You looked up into the face of a woman you'd never seen before.
She looked like Wanda but she was a much darker, twisted reflection of the woman has grown to love. Her brown hair turned a fiery red. The bright green eyes you fell in love with were now darker and glazed with a hint of red in them. Bags under her eyes were now much more prominent and more than just a product of the sleepless nights both of you had.
"It takes a lot of work getting past that little sixth sense of yours. I was worried you'd figure me out too early." Wanda leaned down and forcefully kissed you. She could feel your heartbeat and hear all your frantic thoughts. "Nothing will work, I'm much stronger than you and we both know it."
You flinched as Wanda nuzzled into your cheek. Your body was frozen with fear. "What…Wanda, what are you?" Your voice trembled as you spoke. The power you were detecting felt millions of years old, but Wanda was only twenty-seven. How could she have mastered something so powerful so fast? Agatha was almost just as strong, but she was much older than both of you. "And no weird cryptic fake folktale shit either."
Wanda rolled her eyes and dragged you back into the house. "I'm just like you, puppy." Her magic forced you to sit on the couch. She cupped your cheeks. "I am the Scarlet Witch and I'm so proud of you for catching me!" Her hands slid down your neck and all the down to your stomach. "I knew all you needed was a little push and you'd be strong enough to do it."
You tried your best to avoid Wanda's touch. "Get away from me." You didn't want this to be the woman that you fell in love with, but it made sense. Before, there was nothing about Wanda that stood out to your senses. Even the weakest of fighters had something, but Wanda was nothing to your sixth sense. It would always explain how she was able to find you or could tell how you are feeling. The thought of loving something so evil should've made you feel sick. It upset you how little it did. "And I'm not your puppy, stop calling me that!"
"Really? 'Cause this," Wanda flicked the tag on the collar around your neck, "says otherwise." Her hands explored your body. Not even the darkness could get in the way of how much she cared for you. "You still love me and you will learn to accept that, especially if you want your little friends safe."
Your heart stopped. There was no telling how far Wanda was willing to go to keep you. If you couldn't handle her, your friends wouldn't stand a chance. "Fine, whatever. Just get off me." You said through gritted teeth.
☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲
She was right. You did still love her. No matter how much you wanted to hate her, you couldn't find it in you. Every night you snuggled into her side looking for the comfort she'd given — and Wanda gave it to you without question. That didn't stop you from trying your hardest. Every slight disagreement escalated into a full-blown argument with the hopes she'd become irritated with you. It usually only left you in tears. Either you were frustrated that you couldn't escape or mad at yourself for still being in love with Wanda. She was stronger than you and more mature too.
"Mommy did this because she loves you." Such a heavy statement with the most jarring delivery. It made you sick.
"I don't want anything to do with your or that weird ass book." The edge in your voice had long disappeared. You couldn't keep up if you put your all into every argument. You wouldn't get very far wrapped up in Wanda's arms either, but something was better than nothing. "Just leave me alone."
Wanda kissed the side of your head. "We both know you don't want that." It was all she said because that was the only lie you told. Wanda was fine if didn't want to be what she had become, and she loved you for you. She could not stand by and watch you hinder yourself out of spite. "You're safer here, you're safe with me. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I let you go back to work knowing you'd get hurt?"
"You're not my girlfriend. You're a liar and a criminal." You shrugged Wanda off and got out of bed. "I don't know if you've noticed, but you kidnapped me and trapped me in the middle of fucking nowhere!"
Wanda pulled you back into the bed and pinned you down. "I'd let you go back if you weren't so disobedient." Her strong hands gripped your chin and forced it to the side. She began littering your exposed neck with love bites. "If I let you go now, you'll report me and I'll have to go away for a long time. We don't want that, do we?" She harshly sucked on the gentle skin of your neck.
Your body wouldn't listen to you. Every touch lit your body on fire. "Stop, please." You whimpered. The wetness growing between your legs felt like a punishment within itself. A shiver ran down your spine as Wanda's tongue glided over your neck. "Just let me go."
The desperation in your voice made Wanda's cunt throb. "But your parts are so sticky. Why don't you let mommy help?" Her voice was low and seductive. She has you wrapped around her finger. You'd never really say no to her. All your squirming came to a halt the second her hand slipped into your underwear. "I know you wanna go be big and play detective, but you have to learn how to be a good pup first."
Hate ran hot through your veins. Why was it so hard for you to fight back? She wasn’t controlling your mind or being more aggressive than usual. All you had to do was leave. Yet, your body chose to stay. You chose to let Wanda have her way with you.“T-that feels good.” You mumbled. Her fingers were cold, nothing like the warmth you had grown to love, but that made it easier to pretend it was someone else touching you. It wasn’t Wanda who was tugging off your clothes and forcefully stretching out your cunt. Wanda would never manhandle you so carelessly.
“Pretending I’m someone else doesn’t change the fact that you like it.” Wanda slipped her fingers inside of you with ease. She didn’t bother with taking her time. Two of her fingers made quick work of cunt. “You like it when I’m mean and you like being treated like some stupid pup that can’t do anything without a mommy.” Her thumb pressed harshly against your clit as she continued fucking into you. “Say it.” Her voice was so commanding and rough. “Say you like being mommy’s dumb little puppy.”
You frantically shook your head. “I don’t and I hate you!” Internally, you braced yourself for punishment. You thought maybe she’d spank you until you caved in or smack you for having the gall to say you hated her. Instead, she just went quiet. Her fingers pulled out of your cunt and left you hanging high and dry. “Where are you going?”
“I’m not your mommy, why do you care?” She rubbed her slick-covered fingers down your cheek. “Be difficult all you want, but I mean it when I say you are not to leave this house until you learn to be obedient.”
You were left cold, naked, and alone on the bed. Wanda didn’t even bother checking in on you that night.
☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲
That’s how Wanda broke you. Apathy. If you didn’t want to listen to her, she felt no obligation to listen to you. It didn’t matter how many tantrums you threw or how loud you cried, Wanda didn’t care. She was perfectly content with waiting. You were the impatient one. Which was to say you didn’t even last a full week before crumbling without Wanda’s attention. After several days of breaking things and screaming your heart out, were tired.
It was cute watching you burn yourself out.
After a particularly rough night, you found yourself desperate for comfort. Your hopes that the Wanda you had fallen in love with would magically return were dashed. You had to learn to love the new one.
You stood in the entryway of the kitchen and watched as Wanda typed away at her laptop. It was hard to give up. Your suspect was sitting just feet away and you were about to let her win. If you loved her, there was no way you could turn her in. But you needed her. You needed someone to take care of you and Wanda was offering to be that person. All you had to do was let her.
Wanda looked up from the monitor and raised her eyebrows. She pulled out a chair from the table, but didn’t say anything to you.
You swallowed a lump in your throat and slowly made your way toward her. The first thing you noticed was the darkness covering her fingers, but you decided to ignore it for the sake of your relationship and sanity. Just apologize to Wanda. Don’t argue and don’t ask any questions, just apologize. “I’m sorry.”
Wanda stopped typing and turned to look at you. You looked pathetic. So small and defenseless compared to her. That’s how she wanted you. “I’m going to need a little more than that. I know you can do better.” She cupped your face and used her thumb to caress your cheek.
You sniffled in an attempt not to cry. You couldn’t believe you were really about to do this. “I’m sorry for being so mean to you. You wanted to take care of me and I was being ungrateful.” Part of you felt sick, but the other part was relieved. You were torn. Should you go back on your word or should you just accept your situation? You felt empty, but at least Wanda felt warm again.
Wanda leaned forward and placed a kiss on your lips. “I’m proud of you, baby.” Her arms wrapped around you and pulled you into a tight hug. “I know that was hard for you,” She whispered. There was nothing she could comfortably do about your shame, but she could love you. She could train you to love yourself. “Are you gonna learn to be mommy’s good puppy?”
You nodded and buried your face into her neck. “I’ll be good. I promise.” You let yourself be guided to the bedroom. There was no doubt about what would happen next. She’d claim you all over again and you'd let her do it. Denying yourself was so hard. "I wanna be mommy's puppy again."
Wanda laid you down on the bed and straddled your hips. "You were always mommy's puppy. Just because you have a bad time doesn't mean I don't love you anymore." Her hands slipped underneath your shirt and immediately began playing with your nipples. "Mommy loves her puppy detective even when they're mean and trying to hurt her feelings." It took almost nothing to get you all mushy and obedient. She took her sweet time stripping you naked. Leaving kisses and hickeys over every inch of newly exposed skin.
This time, you didn't try to hold back. You let yourself get lost in the comfort of Wanda's weight on top of you and the way she held you. You weren't ashamed of the wetness growing between your legs or the desperate little noises coming from your mouth. "I need mommy, please?"
Wanda smiled fondly as she let her hand wander down to the wet patch in your underwear. "Oh puppy, you're such a mess down here. I promise I won't tease you anymore." A heavy strap-on appeared around her waist. "Lay back and let mommy fill up your little puppy parts." She grabbed the base of the toy and circled it around your clit.
"It's too big." You immediately clung onto Wanda as she thrust the toy inside of you. It practically split you in two, but it felt so good. "G-go slow, it's too much!"
Wanda giggled at your sensitivity. "Baby, I haven't even moved yet." She carefully leaned down to kiss your forehead. Her hips moved as slowly as they possibly could. Every distressed whimper and small whine earned you another soft kiss from her. "I know it hurts now, but I promise you it'll feel good soon."
Wanda was right. Eventually, the pain subsided and you just felt full. The pace Wanda set for you was deep and slow. Whimpers turned into moans. You were starting to lose yourself fast. "Thank you, mommy. It feels so good."
One of her hands pinned both of your wrists above your head. The needy whines coming from your mouth were music to her ears. "Don't be shy, mommy loves hearing how good she makes you feel." Her pace slowly got faster until you were practically screaming for her. The hand she wasn't using immediately began to massage your clit. "Is my sweet little puppy gonna cum already? It's okay if you do, mommy's here to help you afterward."
Your face burned as you desperately tried to escape Wanda's nimble fingers. "N-no, I can…I can hold it!" You most certainly couldn't. Wanda was going to make sure of it. Never had Wanda denied you and she'd never let you deny yourself. "Mhm, I'm cumming! It's coming, please slow down!"
Wanda did no such thing. Instead, she trapped you in a passionate kiss as she continued rutting into you. "Come on, baby, make a big mess for mommy." Her thumb continued to torture your poor overstimulated clit until she was satisfied and sure you had gone as far as you could. Once she was done, she slowly pulled out of you and let you go limp against the mattress. "There we go, you look so cute all fucked out for mommy." She bent down and peppered kisses all over your slick-covered thighs. "I'm going to run you a bath, okay? Just stay still and relax."
For a moment, you were in pure bliss. Mindless, completely satisfied even.
Then everything began to settle in. It didn't matter how gentle Wanda was. She was a killer. You'd given yourself up to a killer and enjoyed every second of it. Not only that, but you were going to let her keep killing. You were just as bad as she was. Maybe even worse for being bribed with something as simple as good sex.
You were a dirty cop now.

Steve had his best fake smile plastered on. He was hosting a party, he had to appear approachable and friendly, even if he didn’t feel like it. The conversations could be so boring and draining. His one reprieve for the night was that he was hosting the party at an art gallery. The last night of the display of one of his favorite artists. Every chance he got he was appreciating the art.
At least until he saw you. Steve knew everyone at the party, they’d been vetted by his team, but he didn’t know you. There was no recognition, no faint memory of ever seeing you before and Steve’s memory was better than most. Your dress was just shy of the quality he’d expect from his guests, indicating you weren’t in the higher echelons of the city’s social circles. You were definitely a party crasher who shouldn’t be here.
He should call security, have them discreetly take you away, but as he watches you he realizes that, unlike other party crashers, you’re not here for the people. You never take a glass of the expensive champagne offered to guests. You barely talk to anyone and excuse yourself from conversation quickly. You’re looking at the art. You’re flitting from piece to piece like a hummingbird and smiling at each one. You might be a party crasher, but you’ve clearly got good taste and good manners. He decides he’ll let you stay but keep an eye on you.
Pretty soon he realizes he can’t stop watching you. Your genuine joy with each new piece of art you look at is endearing. Especially as he keeps having to deal with fake smiles and false promises. It also makes your frown stand out even more.
You walked over to a man who appeared to be taking away a woman who’d drunk too much. While you hadn’t had any of the champagne, you couldn’t imagine it would get someone so drunk they could barely move. You approach, ignoring the glares the man gave you, and ask, “what happened?”
“It’s nothing,” the man replies. “She just had a little too much to drink. I’m just getting her home.”
“She doesn’t look drunk,” you retort. “She looks like she needs to go to a hospital.”
“She’s just a lightweight is all,” he sneers. “I’ll take good care of her. Now get lost.”
“Let me take a look at her, please. I really think she needs a doctor.”
“No,” he barks. “She just needs to get home and get some rest.”
“Walker,” a deep, stern voice behind you started. “Do you need some help?”
“Rogers,” Walker stammers. “Seriously, I just need to get the lady home. That’s all.”
“Walker, if I get security over here and search your pockets, are they going to find some pills?”
Walker stammers a bit before dropping the girl and trying to run for it. He only makes a couple steps before Rogers has him slammed against a wall, signaling security to come in. You’re already picking up the young woman from the floor, checking her pupils for dilation, getting her into a more comfortable position.
Rogers is talking to a few people as security quietly takes Walker out of the gallery, “Sam, go get Strange or Badr. She probably needs a doctor. Bucky, go get Danvers and Rambeau to come help their daughter.” They head in separate directions and he turns to see you checking the girl. He bends down and turns her face towards him, “Monica, we’re getting your mothers. You’re going to be okay.” She seems to relax at that.
Before long a few people come over and you step back so they can take care of the girl. You figure you should leave before your status as party crasher gets found out but Rogers gently grabs your arm, making you stay in place as he gets the situation sorted. You try to squirm out of his grip a few times before he pulls you to him and whispers, “settle down, Hummingbird. You’re not in trouble but we need to talk.” You’re unsure where the nickname came from but you take comfort in his words and stop trying to escape.
They’re getting Monica to an ambulance but a tall blonde woman turns to Rogers, fury in her eyes. He points to the door where security took Walker and she storms in that direction.
Once you’re alone you try, one more time, to pull away, “I guess you should get back to your party, Sir.” The look he gives you makes you freeze.
“I’m not generally one for repeating myself, Hummingbird,” he begins. “But I understand you might be out of your depth tonight. You are not in trouble but we still need to have a chat.”
“Yes, Sir,” you lower your head.
He chuckles and lifts your chin, “call me Steve.”
“Yes, St…Steve.”
He smiles at you before turning and leading you to a separate wing of the gallery that had been closed off for the party. You know you should pay attention to him, but your eyes keep looking at the beautiful art around you. When you finally do turn back to Steve his smile has grown.
“So, what brings you to my party?”
“I…I just wanted to look at the art.”
“Why not look during normal gallery hours?”
“Work,” you confess. “I got so swamped I didn’t have time to come see the show. Jack Russell is such an amazing artist and I was desperate for a chance to see his art in person. I put on my nicest dress and slipped in with a small group. I’m very sorry.” You hang your head in apology, waiting for some kind of punishment or consequence for your actions. He said you weren’t in trouble but there had to be some kind of repercussion.
“I believe you,” he states. “I was watching you almost all night.” You lift your eyes at his words, confusion written all over your face. “You weren’t invited, it’s true, but you weren’t drinking any champagne. You didn’t annoy any guests. You were just flitting from piece to piece, actually enjoying the show. I figured as long as you weren’t causing trouble, I’d let you be. And I’m very glad for that.”
“I wasn’t planning on staying long,” you sighed. “Didn’t want to get caught so I moved quickly between the pieces.”
“Flitting like a hummingbird,” he chuckled. “But in coming here, breaking into my party, you saved a young woman. In doing so you also saved my party and, quite frankly, my reputation. I can’t be known as someone whose parties are unsafe or cater to creeps like Walker turned out to be. As such, I would like to reward you.”
“Um..wh..what?”
Steve’s bright blue eyes seemed to shine with your response. “And I think I know the perfect reward. I’m friends with the curator here. I’ll give you her information and any time there’s a show you really want to see, but can’t get to, call her and she’ll make sure you get in at a time that’s convenient for you.”
“What?!” Your eyes grow wide at his words, “that’s far too generous, Sir! I can’t accept that!”
“It’s ‘Steve’ little Hummingbird,” he lowers his face to your level, his voice lowering with it, “and you will accept the reward. I’ll also make sure you get invited to every party I host at this place. Watching your genuine enjoyment was the highlight of the party tonight. I’d love to see more of it.”
“Are…are you sure about this, Steve?”
Eyes never leaving yours, he gently grabs your hand and kisses it, “I promise, I want nothing more than for you to accept.”

The ride to Dimitri’s manor was a quiet one. Josh sat close to you in the back seat, never taking his eyes off the two men up front. One hand was resting on your thigh, the other was holding your other hand in his lap. It didn’t take a Vampire to feel how fast your pulse was racing, or how your anxiety was so high you were completely silent. His thumbs rubbed comforting circles wherever they could reach, trying to calm you down. Despite your hunter’s efforts, your mind would not stop circling the drain with every worst case scenario. You were dead. Truly dead. Josh will be too. Dimitri knows. He knows you committed high treason against your own kind. Monica was right, they’d have you Meet the Sun for this.
You had seen first hand over the decades what Dimitri did to traitors. He wasn’t flashy about it, having an audience was never the point. But he always made sure to hit where hurt the most. Right now? That place was Josh himself, and you knew that Dimitri knew that. You were so fucking stupid, of course he would see through that entire sham at the Den.
The black SUV you were traveling in took a sharp left turn, swiftly taking you out of the city. Even though Dimitri was at the Den most nights, his actual residence was far out of town. He preferred to spend his nights off away from the hustle and bustle, in his sprawling estate that few had seen in person, and even fewer had lived to tell about it.
Another turn, this time onto a side road that wound itself through the forest. The trees swallowed any lingering light from the city, leaving the SUV in its own bubble. The road narrowed the further you went, and started to incline. It wasn’t very mountainous outside of the city, but there were plenty of hills. Steep ones, with plenty of cliffs tall enough to get the job done. Your body didn’t produce bile the way humans did, but you swallowed whatever you had in your throat that threatened to bubble up into your mouth.
Josh, in the way he knew best, tried whispering comforts in your ear, which you faintly heard through the roaring in your ears. You felt his lips caress your ear as he spoke, those plush, perfect lips that mere hours ago were claiming you as his. You tried to remember the last kiss you had shared with him in your bed. A soft but secure kiss before you slumbered in  his arms. You closed your eyes and melted into him, tempted to take off the seatbelt and crawl in his lap for the remainder of the drive. He peppered kisses into your hair and on your cheek, trying to find something that calmed your fears.
The narrow road suddenly opened up into a sprawling driveway, a semi-circle pavement monstrosity complete with an obnoxious fountain in the center that the SUV peeled around. Of course Dimitri would be the only address on this road. The literal end of the line. The vehicle lurched to a halt before the driver shut it off and calmly exited. The door to the right of Josh was yanked open, and both of the men were standing on either side, waiting for you to exit. Josh laced his fingers in yours before getting out first and helping you out. He refused to let go of your hand for a second.
The chilly night air nipped at your legs as you gazed upon the impressive manor. It consisted of  three floors above ground, but you recalled rumors of an extensive basement system down below.
The Gothic architecture was almost too on the nose, something that Josh whispered in your ear, “the only thing he’s missing is a giant neon sign that says ‘a vampire lives here’ with a massive arrow pointing to the house.”
You bit your lip to keep from smiling, “he really leans into the stereotypes…”
The feeling of normalcy between you two was short lived, as the two henchmen ushered you up the stone steps leading into the manor. You weren’t a runner, but the fight or flight response was nearly impossible to ignore at this point. A simple squeeze of your hand by Josh brought you back to reality. The heavy wooden door was pulled open by one of the men, his hand gesturing for you two to enter. Because a Vampire owned this house, formal invitations weren’t necessary. Josh entered just a step ahead of you, preparing to get in the way of anything that could potentially attack.
However, the two of you were met to an empty foyer that opened up to a grand entrance hall. The hall was flanked by two massive identical staircases that mirrored each other and met at a shared landing high above you. The room was lit with flickering lights that mimicked candlelight, another way Dimitri stayed on theme.
The front door closed loudly behind you, leaving you alone and in complete silence. You heard familiar classical music being played down one of the halls, but you didn’t have much time to figure out exactly where when you heard the tapping of footsteps marching towards you. Within seconds, a Vampire in his fifties appeared at the bottom of the stairs, staring at you both with an unreadable expression. You could feel Josh jump a little at his sudden appearance, as most humans weren’t used to the fact that sometimes Vampires just…appeared at times. This habit along with the super speed was what started the false rumor that Vampires could teleport within shadow.
It took you a second to recognize him but it dawned on you, “it's been a long time, Phillip.”
The Vampire grimaced at your words, as he had never been very fond of you, “Dimitris would like to see you both in his study.”
You kept your gaze steady, not wanting Phillip of all Vampires to see you nervous, “lead the way.”
With a slight huff Phillip turned on his heel and led the two of you down the main hall to the right. As you walked, the sound of classical music met your ears, letting you know you were close. With Phillips walking in front, you took your chance and slid your hand into Josh’s with a firm grip. He squeezed back, and ran his thumb up and down the side of your hand. Phillip took a sharp left turn down a dimly lit corridor and the music grew louder. Ahead of him you could see flickering light pouring out of an open doorway. This was it.
He stopped in front of the door and ushered the two of you inside, where you found Dimitri lounging on a Victorian couch. He was staring into the roaring fire, his expression unreadable.
Dimitri briefly looked up to acknowledge your presence before sitting up straighter and squaring his shoulders, “ Leave us, Phillip. I wish to speak with them alone.” Phillip gave a curt nod before disappearing down the dark corridor. Dimitri gestured to the identical couch across from his, offering you and Josh a seat. His eyes were fixed on your joined hands as you sat down.
“Always a pleasure, darling.” You nodded, words failing you. “I’m sure you’re wondering why I brought you here. I apologize for the short notice but…the matter could not wait.” He smiled softly at you, continuing to study you both. “I feel we shouldn’t beat around the bush and get directly to the matter at hand.”
You gulped and didn’t care if he saw it or not.
“How long have you known, Mr. Kiszka here?” You knew it was coming, but him saying Josh’s name made your blood run cold. Before you could answer he said, “you almost had me with that fake name at the Den…but when I tasted his blood I knew right away who he was. Well, what family he came from, at least.”
“How-,” Josh interjected.
“Oh my dear Joshua, your great-grandfather’s blood tasted very similar,” he said matter-of-fact. Josh glared at the Vampire as his hand tensed in yours and you felt his whole body become rigid. “I’ve come across your family many times, but I’ve always eluded them of course,” a cool smile spread across his face. “Which is why it was so…interesting of you, darling, to bring one of them into my Blood Den under a false identity. I would even venture to say it was out of character.”
“Dimitri I-”
The older Vampire wasn’t finished, “however, it might surprise you to know I had no intention of doing anything about your little…indiscretion…for the time being. In fact I fully planned to merely observe how many times you’d bring your little hunter friend amongst us Vampires. Now, the real plot twist was you feeding on him the other night. That I did not expect at all. But the best part was that little Joshua here was enjoying it…” He smirked at Josh, who continued to glare at him.
You tried to keep your voice steady, “but if you weren’t going to do anything about it, then why are we here?”
Dimitri nodded and leaned forward, “yes the wrinkle in all of this was that someone went behind my back to the Council and told them everything.”
“Who the fuck-,” you started.
“You’ve probably noticed that Yvonne isn’t here tonight? Well, it seems someone got a little impatient in my promise to eventually turn her and she tried using this delicious piece of information to hopefully convince a member of,” he stopped to chuckle lightly and pinch the bridge of his nose, “the Council of all groups to turn her instead.”
Your eyes widened at the stupidity, there was no way the Council would turn a human for this. They were even more selective than Dimitri when it came to creating new Vampires. Yvonne had to be extremely desperate, stupid, or both to pull this move.
“I mean maybe it's my fault for keeping her around for nearly a decade on the promise of turning her? Humans are such impatient creatures,” he flicked his eyes back at Josh, “no offense.”
“What did the Council say to all of this?”
“You’re both in luck that I have a few friends on the Council that came directly to me with Yvonne’s betrayal, and thus a warning as to what they said to do about it.”
It was a good thing you were already sitting down, but Dimitri’s habit of drawing things out was making your anxiety so much worse.
“The first thing they did was tell me who the informant was. Yvonne was…quickly dealt with,” his voice trailed off, but you knew better than to ask the how and what about that situation, “and after that, they gave us a few options going forward.”
You could feel your hunter's hand going clammy, and his heartbeat could be heard over the crackling fire.
“The first option, and the one they wanted the most, was for you to Meet the Sun, darling,” for the first time in decades, you saw sadness creep into his eyes, “the second option of course, was just to flat out kill our dear Joshua. Both options had the obvious caveat of having you watch each other’s death. Which would then lead to the death of the one watching. So essentially it was more of a ‘who first’ matter.”
“Oh…,” it was all you could say. It was what you were fearing, but finally hearing Dimitri say it out loud made your vision blur and your knees shake.
“But,” Dimitri sat back against the couch, a satisfied grin replaced the sadness, “I had an even more poetic idea.”
“What could be more ‘poetic’ than that?” The sarcasm dripped from Josh’s voice.
Dimitri held his hands out, palms facing the two of you, as if he was telling you to brace yourselves, “why, stripping the Vampire Hunter’s humanity away, of course!”
“What,” you squeaked out.
“...and as a cherry on top, having you be the one to turn him!”
Your ears started ringing, “excuse me?”
“Oh think about it, darling. Turning not just any human, but a Kiszka? Do you know how many Vampire’s have tried to do that very thing and failed?”
“I can think of a few,” Josh deadpanned.
Dimitri gave Josh a look but continued, “you see, the worst way to insult a hunter, especially one from a family line,  isn’t to kill them. Hunters love dying for the cause. No no, it's turning one. Why? Well darling I don’t know if your little friend here has told you, but they view being turned as a fate worse than death. In fact, they even view the mere suggestion of allowing a hunter-turned-vampire to exist as a walking advert of their failures. Isn’t that right, dear Joshua?”
Josh stilled next to you. It was true.
“Nothing worse than the hunter becoming the hunted, eh,” the older Vampire said with raised eyebrows.
You had to be hallucinating. This was all some wild nightmare you were having. Any second now you’d wake up in Josh’s arms, safely shielded by the sun in your bed. You dropped your face into your hands, rubbing your eyes but when you opened them you were still sitting in Dimitri’s cliched study.
“And if we don’t take that option,” you asked, still not believing what you were hearing.
Dimitri’s expression grew serious, “then as I said before, it would only be a matter of…who goes first.”
Josh stared at the ornate rug under his feet. The thought of you burning from the sun again made him nauseous. He could still hear how your skin sizzled and cracked open, the gasps of pain and the whimpers you tried to hide. The thought of you being held out in the open, more than likely in front of an audience, while you slowly burned to death, especially because of him, made the bile rise in his throat. The dream that he had had the first time he slept next to you invaded his mind, and he visibly shuddered. But on the other hand…if he agreed to this, to being turned, how would he tell Jake? Or Sam? What would he say to them?
“...and there’s really no other way?” Josh asked the obvious, but he needed to express it out loud.
Dimitri shook his head, “if I don’t give the Council a decision they’ll make one themselves, and I can promise that you don’t want it to get to that.”
Josh nodded his head, the skin on the back of his neck prickled hot, and he swallowed hard, “fine.”
You snapped your head to your left to look at him, “what do you mean, ‘fine’?”
“Turn me,” he slowly swiveled his gaze, meeting your eyes for a second before looking back at Dimitri, “I want her to do it, no one else.”
Dimitri sat back with a satisfied smile, “I knew you were smart, dear Joshua. She must mean a lot to you in order to give up your humanity like this.”
You stared at your hunter, tears filling your eyes, “no…” Painfully, a memory surfaced in your mind, from that first night in the Den. The brief banter you exchanged while you were explaining your favorite cocktail to him.
“A-Negative pairs really well with whiskey. Robust but not overpowering, gives you a great buzz. It's a shame you can’t find that out for yourself with your…humanity and all.”
Josh gave you a flat look, “I like my humanity just fine.”
“Suit yourself…though a hunter turned Vampire would be hilariously ironic.”
It was just a joke on your end, something silly to loosen him up, but now the words burned in your throat.
“You’re not dying because of me,” his words shook you from your thoughts.
“You don’t know what you’re asking for…”
“Out of our options…this is our only option, sweetheart.”
“I’ve never…I’ve never turned someone…”
“But you know how, darling, you know the procedure,” Dimitri offered from his couch.
You turned to look at the older Vampire, “and you’re ok with this? Turning someone new?”
“I wouldn’t have suggested it to the Council if I wasn’t. Plus, imagine the business it would bring to the Dens I have? You two making an appearance? Think about it, the hunter who was willing to be turned to save a Vampire? And you, darling, the Vampire who tempted a hunter to want to be turned? You, turned a Kiszka? Vampires and their Human Companions would be flocking to get a glimpse of you. It would…add to the fantasy of theirs,” Dimitri couldn’t contain his excitement at the possibilities.
“Fantasy,” you questioned.
“Well, the human fantasy of one day…following in your footsteps…,” Dimitri countered.
Having heard enough, you turned back to Josh, “are you sure?”
“Yes,” he made sure to look you in the eyes as he said it. He reached out, collecting your hands into his, driving home the fact he was serious. You instantly tangled your fingers around his, gripping him nearly too tight, but you needed to ground yourself.
“Wonderful,” you vaguely registered the excitement emanating from Dimitri as he sprang to his feet, “now, I had a feeling this would be the decision and I already had a room upstairs ready for you both. Anything you need, darling, and it's yours.”
You nodded numbly, not wanting to take your eyes off of Josh. Your chest didn’t know whether to heave or to cave in on itself. It was too much, it was all too much at one time. You tried to travel back in your mind to this morning, with Josh hovering above you in your bed. The last time things felt normal with him. The way the wall sconces scattered light through his curly hair, the heat of his skin against yours, the kisses he left all over your nose and cheeks, he was your gentle daylight. Your gentle daylight that you were cursing into never seeing the sun again.
Before you knew it, Dimitri stood before you both with a warm smile not seen by many people.
“Come on, I’ll show you to the room myself,” he offered, hand stretched out to the door.
Josh was the first to stand up, his hands still clinging to yours as you left your seat. The both of you silently followed Dimitri out of the study, barely paying attention to where you were going. He led you down the corridor and up one flight of stairs and then another. Why he chose the third floor for this bewildered you, but knowing Dimitri there was a reason. The thick mahogany door was already open, and inside there was a large bed in the corner, flanked by two night stands. A chaise lounge was across the room, accompanied by an antique coffee table in front of it. On both the coffee table and the night stands were stacks of towels and rags, presumably for any spilled blood. But in the far corner of the room, was a bay window that let you know you were in one of the turret rooms. Underneath the windows were bench seats built into the wall.
Dimitri held up a small remote before placing it on the nightstand, “the sun will be up soon, so when you need the shutters you’ll have them.” Of course Dimitri would put sun-blocking shields on his windows. You don’t live as long as he had without crossing all your t’s and dotting all your i’s.
“I umm…I have to call my brothers…,” Josh nearly stuttered out, looking at Dimitri.
He looked skeptical at first but his expression softened, “very well, but if you attempt to bring the calvary here to save you, I can assure you it won’t end well for anyone involved.”
With a deep inhale through his nose, Josh nodded, “understood.”
Dimitri turned to you, “as I said in the study, anything you need, darling, and I’ll get it here. I have staff just outside the door, waiting for you.”
“Th-thank you, Dimitri…,” you were still overwhelmed, the situation slowly sinking in.
“I’ll leave you to it then, I trust you know what to do,” his hand extended to your shoulder, giving a gentle squeeze. You nodded in response, and he quickly left the room, shutting the heavy door behind him. The loud click of the lock nearly echoed, reminding you this was your only path forward.
“I ruined your life…,” you whispered as you sat on the couch.
Josh was still standing in the middle of the room, staring off into space deep in thought, but your words snapped him out of it and he turned his head to you, “no you didn’t.”
“It was my idea to bring you to the Den, it was my idea to ‘team up’ it was-”
In three strides he was beside you on that couch, cupping your face in his hands, “and I agreed every single time, and made the choice to go with you.”

You couldn’t stop the tears spilling down your cheeks, and his thumbs dutifully wiped each one away, “if we do this, you won’t be able to go back to your family. At least, I don’t know how they’d react-”
Josh sniffed, “I’m going to call Jake and Sam before anything happens…I don’t…I don’t know what I’m going to say but I have to let them know it’ll be awhile before I come back home.” He was trying so hard to be strong in your presence, to not let the situation get to him, but his hands shook against your cheeks, and he struggled to get his words out.
“There’s something else, Josh,” he looked at you in confusion, “not every- not everyone who gets turned takes to their new existence well. It's not something one can predict beforehand, it's almost random in how new Vampire’s navigate the world.”
“You turned out fine,” he countered.
“Barely. Remember when I told you that the first decade was rough? I meant that. I wasn’t taught skills or control because my Maker-”
“Then I will be lucky to have a Maker as thoughtful as you to teach me how to correctly survive.” His eyes never left yours and his thumbs never stopped rubbing your cheeks.
You wanted to smile at his confidence, but you needed to voice the elephant in the room, “Vampires like Ethan aren’t exactly…rare either…”
He understood what you were trying to say, “if I end up like Ethan…I’ll need you and Jake to do the right thing…”
This made you crumble even more, “I’m not strong enough to do that…”
His face got even more serious, “yes you are, and don’t forget that. I’m going to go call my brothers…and then we can get started, ok?”
With a shaky breath, you nodded. His hands left your face, and you deflated a little from the loss. He fished his phone out of his pocket and dialed as he stood up, making his way to the bay window and looking out into the night. The moon was full, but low in the sky, indicating that the sunrise was closer than he thought.
After three rings, Jake picked up, “do you know what time it is? Some of us like sleeping at night.” The watery breath Josh exhaled into the speaker made every alarm bell go off in Jake’s head, “what's wrong? Did something happen?”
“No…but, well yes, but not what you think.”
“Josh, what the fuck are you talking about?”
“We got caught, Jake. They umm…they figured out who I was and we were both brought in-”
“Brought in where?” Josh could hear rustling on the other end of the phone, indicating Jake was sitting up on the air mattress.
“Just…some high level Vamps gave us an ultimatum and I took it.”
“Not their stupid fucking Council? Those fucking ghouls. What was the ultimatum?”
This was it, he had to tell him, “...that if I don’t want to be killed…I have to be turned…”
There was a deafening silence on the other end of the line, with only a gruff, “are you fucking kidding me,” to cut through it.
“Turn your location on, I'll come get you.”
Josh looked up at the ceiling, eyes watery, “you can’t do that, man.”
“The fuck you mean I can’t? I’ve gotten you out of worse.”
“They’ll kill you on the spot, and trust me the place I’m at has the muscle to even take you down.”
Another long silence, “...so you’re just going to roll over and let them turn you into one of those things? ‘Cause from how I see it, you’re getting killed either way.”
“Jake-”
“You’ll have to watch me get older than you and eventually-” his tone was becoming frantic.
“We’re not going to think about that right now. This is my only chance. I’ll be…different but I’ll still be here.”
“Who's doing it?” Now it was Josh’s turn to not speak, “oh how fucking poetic. They’re having her do it?! I knew it. I fucking knew it. You don’t think this was her plan all along?”
Josh looked at you over his shoulder, you were still sitting on the couch with your hands in your lap. Because of your hearing, you were able to hear everything Jake said, and that last accusation made a fresh batch of tears roll down your face.
He turned back around, beginning to get pissed off, “I can promise you it wasn’t.”
After a few heavy breaths into the phone, Jake said, “...when is it happening?”
“Tonight.”
“I just…I don’t know what to say.”
“Me either, honestly.”
“Mom and dad…wait, have you called Sammy?”
“No not yet, I was about to.”
“Please make sure you do, I don’t want him hearing about this second hand from anyone. You know how he gets....”
Josh nodded, “I know…”
“After you…afterwards…then what?”
Josh shrugged, “they made it sound like I was basically free to go afterwards…that my ‘new existence’ would be punishment enough.”
Jake revisited the same thoughts Josh had had downstairs in the study. Hunters viewed being turned as the ultimate failure, a spit in the face of their life's work. Turning Josh would definitely make a statement, and a warning, to the entire hunter community.
Jake turned the phone to hide the sniff he made, but Josh heard it anyway, “I need you to come back as soon as you can, got it?”
“I will, I just…can’t promise you when that’ll be.”
“Just promise me you’ll come back.”
“I promise.”
“I’m not saying ‘goodbye’ either, I can’t do that.”
“I wouldn’t want you to,” Josh sniffed again.
“Call Sammy,” was all Jake said before he hung up. Josh knew he didn’t hang up to be rude, but he knew his twin couldn’t handle this information. He instantly dialed Sam’s number, but it kept going to voicemail. He called him five more times, before sighing in defeat and settling for a voicemail. He felt horrible that he had to leave it at that, but it didn’t seem like Sam was anywhere near his phone. He glanced at the sky, noting the full moon again. This also meant that Sam’s best friend, Danny, wasn’t able to be reached tonight either. Fuck. The phone beeped and he began his little speech, mumbling his way through it but trying his best to sound strong for his younger brother. Eventually he hung up and turned back to you.
“So…how does this happen?”
You gulped and stood up, walking over to him, “I umm…I have to d-drain you…completely, and when you’re at the brink of d-death, you drink my blood.”
Josh nodded, “and then?”
“You’ll fall asleep, and you’ll stay asleep for at least a few days. It differs from person to person. I was out for at least two nights. And even after that it's common to sleep a lot those first few weeks as your body changes and adjusts.” You reached up and cradled his jaw, “but don’t worry, I won’t go anywhere. You’re not leaving my sight the entire time.”
Overwhelmed by it all, Josh crashed his lips into yours, needing something to ground himself. You kissed him back, pouring every bit of emotion you could into it.
Eventually he pulled back just enough to say, “how do you want to do it?”
“Any way you want, honestly,” you looked over at the bed, “the bed would be the most comfortable.”
He nodded, “ok then, the bed it is.” He walked over and stripped off his shirt and shorts, leaving himself in his underwear as he started turning down the thick covers. He wasn’t sure how much blood there would be, but if the amount of towels on the nightstand and coffee table were any indication, it wasn’t going to be a ‘clean’ process.
Following his lead, you took your own shirt off and shimmied off your leggings, leaving yourself in your underwear and a random sports bra you found in your drawer. As you stood next to him, you realized both of you were a little stumped as to what to do next. Obviously knew what to do, but going about it was the question.
While you pondered you glanced up at your hunter, and noted all of his earrings, “are those silver?”
He nodded and then it dawned on him, “oh…I’ll have to take them out won’t I?”
“Yeah…but I can get you new ones. The holes won’t close up during…it all.”
Josh was a bit surprised, “really?”
“Its weird I know but for some reason most piercings stay-”
“No I meant…you don’t have to get me new ones.”
“Oh but I want to, they look so good on you,” finally, a genuine smile slid across your face.
Josh started taking them out one by one and placing them on the nightstand. The second you smiled he relaxed a lot more. He needed normalcy.
Wanting to keep the mood light, you reached up and gently touched the shaved sides of his head, “you’re also lucky I really like this haircut on you.”
His eyes went wide as he dropped the last ear cuff on the wooden surface, “will it not grow back at all?”
“It will, just very slowly. Your fingernails will still grow too,” you reached out and threaded your fingers with his, another thought occurring to you, “you know…we never even really defined whatever this,” you gestured between you two, “is.”
Josh stood there for a second, looking at you, before bringing both hands to your face and securing his lips to yours, he pulled away less than an inch from your face and said, “I think…you’re mine, and that's all that matters. Don’t you think so?”
Another real smile, this time closer to the smirk he loved so much, “mine?”
“Mine,” he whispered that word all over your face, planting soft kisses to any skin he could reach. Your arms wrapped around his waist, bringing him closer. His lips found home against yours, and for a few moments you lazily made out next to the bed. With your eyes closed, you were able to pretend for a moment you were back in his attic apartment, standing on those cold wooden floors about to be utterly taken by your lover on those god-awful plaid sheets. But as he pulled away, your eyes fluttered open, and the reality of where you were, and what you were about to do hit you again. A wave of emotion swept over you again, but you refused to let any tears fall. If you were going to be a Maker, you had to be strong for him. He needed you to be his rock right now.
“I’m assuming the neck is the best place to umm…get it done?”
Your eyes softened even more at him, “typically yes. The wrist is too slow and the thigh is too fast, the neck gives you the best control.” This was explained to you many times over the years by different Vampires. “I think…what would be the most comfortable, if you want, would be if I sat up against the headboard and you leaned against me?”
“That makes sense,” he said quietly.
You grabbed some of the towels and spread them out over the bed and pillows, just in case. When you were finished you turned back to Josh, only to find him walking towards the bay window. The sky was a soft pink, indicating the sun was rising. Carefully, you walked towards him, sticking to the shadows in the room.
“I just…I needed to see it…”
He didn’t need to explain himself to you, you understood. It was quite possibly the last time he’d be able to look at the sun without pain. His eyes were trained to the horizon, and as the sun greeted the new day, you finally got to see what those beautiful eyes of his looked in the sunlight. The wish you had made the night you met him in that bar. Those big brown eyes were illuminated into a molten honey color, and for once you were actually grateful for the sun to give this to you.
He turned to you, giving you an even better view, “what?”
You shook your head from the still-shaded part of the room and smiled, “just looking at you, Boy Scout.”
Josh gave one final look out the window, before turning away from it completely and walking over to join you in the shadow. He took your hand and led you back to the bed. You looked down at the little remote that Dimitri had left behind, and plucked it off the surface and studied it. There were only a few buttons on it, making it easy to decipher, and after hitting a few of them thick shades descended from the top of the windows, sealing them shut from the outside world.
“Fancy…,” Josh mused as you turned on the nearest lamp.
“He spares no expense,” you agreed as you crawled in the bed. You fluffed a few pillows behind you before fully sitting up against the headboard. Your hunter’s heartbeat sped up, you didn’t even have to try too hard to hear it. It made your own heart twinge, but you sat up a little bit more and held your hand out to him. He gladly took it as he got into the bed, turning around and leaning back against your chest. You softly brought your arms around his chest, giving him as good of a hug as you could in that position. He slowly tilted his head to the side, giving you full access to the left side of his neck.
Your fingertips caressed his jawline while you stared down at him, “are you ready?”
“Is anyone?”
“If you need a few more minutes that's perfectly fine, Josh.”
“No no, I’m…I’m ready.”
“Just remember, I’m not going anywhere.” He brought one of your hands to his lips and gave the back an open mouthed kiss before craning his neck and giving you one last kiss. Pulling away, he slipped back into position, and closed his eyes.
Your fangs descended from your gums, and before you could hesitate even more, you drove them into the soft flesh of his neck. Josh flinched slightly, and you quickly gathered his hands in your free hand, letting him squeeze and cling as hard as he needed to. Your other hand continued to gently rub his jaw and cheek, comforting him as best you could. Draining someone was different from your typical feeding bite. You had to be more deliberate, with deeper pulls and less finesse. You couldn’t even enjoy the citrusy accents in his blood, or that fresh vanilla, no, you just had to get it all.
Josh relaxed more in your arms as the draining progressed. You still paid close attention to his slowing heart rate, listening for the time you instinctively would know to give him your blood. It felt like it was taking too long and also flying by at the same time. As a Vampire, the whole process felt bizarre, but you were determined to get everything right. Your hunter deserved nothing but the best.
~!~
Across the country, through a few different time zones, a young scholar was sitting across an icy blonde. Mounds of papers and stacks of books were scattered around the room, the only light coming from the various table lamps around the basement office. The scholar stood up to go to his other desk, and after shuffling around the stacks of documents he had been translating, he found his phone that had gone missing some hours before. The screen lit up with six missed calls from Josh, and a slew of texts from Jake telling him to pick up his phone. At the top of his notifications was a voicemail from his oldest brother. Confused, he unlocked his phone to listen to it.
“Sam…Sammy it's Josh. I umm, I got into some trouble with this job, and I probably won’t be home for a while. I don’t need you to freak out, I’ve already talked to Jake. Call him after you get this, he’ll explain further. But umm….but basically I was given a choice. You know how Vampire’s can be…I’m sorry I’m being vague. But…I was going to be killed if I didn’t agree to…to be turned…and that's what's going to happen now. I wanted to tell you this myself, but you’re probably busy with your work. Which, sorry for always calling your college Hogwarts. You’re only one of us with any sort of degree, and I’ll always be proud of you for that. Sorry for stealing those files from you a few months ago, I’ll get them back to you, I promise. I’m not going anywhere, Sammy, but I’ll be…different from now on. But I’ll be back, it might not seem like it, I can promise you I’m in safe hands. This isn’t a goodbye, Sam, but I needed you to hear this from me before anyone else. I’m rambling now but…I love you-”
The voicemail cut off, and Sam’s hands were shaking so bad the phone dropped onto the desk with a loud clatter, startling the blonde.
“Sam, what is it,” she asked as she adjusted her cat eye glasses.
He turned to her, knees suddenly weak, “I umm…I need to call Danny…I need Danny.”
She checked the time on her own phone and her heart sank, “Sam the moon is still out…”
The realization caused him to lean against the desk, and the sudden collapse had the blonde on her feet and over to him instantly. In the years she had known him she had never seen him like this, and she wondered what the hell he had heard on his phone.
“Sam…come on Sam tell me what’s wrong,” he leaned down on her, burying his face into her shoulder.
“I don’t know what to do…” he all but whimpered as his world as he knew it shattered.
~!~
Josh’s heart rate was slow, so slow now, you knew it was time. Reluctantly you drew your hand out of his as you removed your fangs from his neck. Quickly you bit into your wrist, drawing blood and using your other hand to open his mouth. Your wrist rested against his lips as you made sure to drip as much of your blood as you could into his system. You began to worry when he didn’t react to the blood, but within seconds you felt his lips seal against your wrist, and you felt him pull from you. Relief flooded through you and you whispered praises into his ear. You weren’t sure if he could hear you, but for both of your sakes you hoped he did.
He started to relax again, and you knew he was about to fall into that deep slumber between being alive and…one of the undead.
Before he slipped under completely, you whispered one last time, “now come back to me, Boy Scout..”

could you go into your writing process a bit? i’ve been a fan of your fics for years now, and i still find myself in awe of how you’re able to create these cohesive worlds and voices and dynamics and just how tight your writing is. like i never feel like anything should be cut and even if all the loose ends aren’t tied up, i feel like it ends right where it should. like i’m so curious to see how your brain turns out so much magic!!
Oh my gosh, this is so nice of you to say 😭 Thank you first of all!  Secondly, I'll try to map out my process for big wips below the cut! Hope it makes sense 🤭 But this ask literally put a smile on my face all day, so thanks again.
So to start off, I usually have a good idea of exactly how the story should end. That helps big time with everything else. If I don't know kind of what happens in the middle and exactly how it should end, I really struggle.
Then I have a separate doc where I write down all my notes or thoughts about the stories, and also do the outlines. The story ideas come either extremely randomly, like me falling down a rabbit hole of presidential assassinations on YouTube (y'all know what this resulted in) or they're a result of my friend and i spiraling about something in the DMs (lighthouse, boxing fic, soulmate fics, most of the horny ones too 😂)
I also like to gather some pics just to get an idea of what the characters look like in whatever universe I'm writing about, as well as the scenery and buildings/layout. So for example, i used these inspo pics for The First Gentleman:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So every time I open the doc to write I'd have these, the outline, and the notes open. Other visuals like the banner or graphics I make also help put me in the right mindset for the story.
So, before I start writing, I draft an outline. I try to keep it brief tbh, the longer and more involved the outline the more intimidating the story feels which means less chance of me actually writing it 😅 (there are about 3 outlines that will probably never see the light of day!) but brief doesn't always work so what i do, especially for long wips, is make a short bullet list for what needs to happen in each chapter.
This way i can accommodate plot bunnies, shift stuff around and kill the darlings before i get too attached, i usually also have a few key scenes in my head and i then fit them in here. Outlines also include stuff like a quick character write up like age, quirks, bad habits, cute habits or sayings they have (in Ain't No Grave they had this cute back and forth "keep up now" or in Ruins Bucky called everyone meatballs.)
This is roughly what a chapter outline looks like for me:
Tumblr media
lmaooo. as you can see it's very informal. basically a scribble.
Usually when I'm super inspired, i can get going straight away, otherwise I let it turn over in my head a little bit until i come up with a good starting point. What also helps me cement the character voices and specific characteristics is re-watching whatever source media it relates to. So for me it's always Cap 2 & 3 and TFATWS, Endgame where Sam gets the shield, and Sam’s scene in AoU and Antman.
I prefer to write in order from start to finish. I find I lose interest too quickly if I don't. Having a point to work toward is easier for me. BUT at the bottom of the notes/outline doc I also have a section for scenes that I absolutely can't get out of my head and need to write down right the fuck now. For example Monica’s induction in TFG was written waaay before anything else, so was the sambucky reunion in that fic. But, because I placed it at the bottom of a separate doc, the fic was still technically written in order 😌 makes perfect sense, I know lol.
Then whenever I finish a bullet point in the outline, I color it off the list. This process helps me keep track of what has been done and what still needs to happen. Seeing how much I've completed also really helps to keep me motivated, plus the colors are fun! Helps with sticking to what i had planned too, i find if i don't follow outlines, the scenes and characterization kind of jump all over the place. Mostly i only have some time on weekends to write so knowing exactly what i need to write and how i need to write it beforehand is key to me. Having the outline done before I start means I have a week to play those scenes out in my head or play with the dialogue until it sounds right.
If I get stuck, I read either a book or my favorite fics, do some art, or just leave it be until inspo strikes again.
And I think that’s about it. Don’t know if this is what you were looking for but there you have it 😂
💕
I’m always happy to get asks about my fics and writing, so don’t be shy!

hello! this is not meant to be a bother, but i was wondering if you happened to have a list of fcs for your muses or if you’d be willing to type one out? again very much not trying to be a bother or anything just honestly curious and would like to know!
hi friend !! not a bother at all !! almost all of my fcs are different from canon so it's probably hard to keep up ! I have a lot of muses so I'll add it under the cut ! I've been away from tumblr for a long time so if you see something that isn't super accurate please don't hesitate to let me know !! I relied real heavily on rph resources & tried to google search as much as possible but I know it's not always the best & I wanna stay true to what I can !! also pls forgive the non-formatting the list is long & I am literally copy & pasting this . ( also also if anyone's name is misspelled it's literally because I wrote this as I went & not intentional - some of them may also be abbreviated I can't remember if I went back & fixed it )

Author Read-Alikes: Barbara Kingsolver
Chronicles of a Radical Hag by Lorna Landvik
The curmudgeon who wrote the column “Ramblin’s by Walt” in the Granite Creek Gazette dismissed his successor as “puking on paper.” But when Haze Evans first appeared in the small-town newspaper, she earned fans by writing a story about her bachelor uncle who brought a Queen of the Rodeo to Thanksgiving dinner. Now, fifty years later, when the beloved columnist suffers a massive stroke and falls into a coma, publisher Susan McGrath fills the void (temporarily, she hopes) with Haze’s past columns, along with the occasional reprinted responses from readers. Most letters were favorable, although Haze did have her trolls; one Joseph Snell in particular dubbed her “liberal” ideas the “chronicles of a radical hag.” Never censoring herself, Haze chose to mollify her critics with homey recipes - recognizing, in her constantly practical approach to the world and her community, that buttery Almond Crescents will certainly “melt away any misdirected anger.”
Framed by news stories of half a century and annotated with the town’s chorus of voices, Haze’s story unfolds, as do those of others touched by the Granite Creek Gazette, including Susan, struggling with her troubled marriage, and her teenage son Sam, who - much to his surprise - enjoys his summer job reading the paper archives and discovers secrets that have been locked in the files for decades, along with sad and surprising truths about Haze’s past.
Mum & Dad by Joanna Trollope
It’s been 25 years since Gus and Monica left England to start a new life in Spain, building a vineyard and wine business from the ground up. However, when Gus suffers a stroke and their idyllic Mediterranean life is thrown into upheaval, it’s left to their three grown-up children in London to step in... Sebastian is busy running his company with his wife, Anna, who’s never quite seen eye-to-eye with her mother-in-law. Katie, a successful solicitor in the City, is distracted by the problems with her long-term partner, Nic, and the secretive lives of their three daughters. And Jake, ever the easy-going optimist, is determined to convince his new wife, Bella, that moving to Spain with their 18-month-old would be a good idea. As the children descend on the vineyard, it becomes clear that each has their own idea of how best to handle their mum and dad, as well as the family business. But as long-simmering resentments rise to the surface and tensions reach breaking point, can the family ties prove strong enough to keep them together?
Chances Are... by Richard Russo
One beautiful September day, three sixty-six-year-old men convene on Martha's Vineyard, friends ever since meeting in college circa the sixties. They couldn't have been more different then, or even today - Lincoln's a commercial real estate broker, Teddy a tiny-press publisher, and Mickey a musician beyond his rockin' age. But each man holds his own secrets, in addition to the monumental mystery that none of them has ever stopped puzzling over since a Memorial Day weekend right here on the Vineyard in 1971. Now, forty-four years later, as this new weekend unfolds, three lives and that of a significant other are displayed in their entirety while the distant past confounds the present like a relentless squall of surprise and discovery. Shot through with Russo's trademark comedy and humanity, Chances Are... also introduces a new level of suspense and menace that will quicken the reader's heartbeat throughout this absorbing saga of how friendship's bonds are every bit as constricting and rewarding as those of family or any other community.
At the Water’s Edge by Sara Gruen
After embarrassing themselves at the social event of the year in high society Philadelphia on New Year’s Eve of 1942, Maddie and Ellis Hyde are cut off financially by Ellis’s father, a former army Colonel who is already embarrassed by his son’s inability to serve in WWII due to his being colorblind.
To Maddie’s horror, Ellis decides that the only way to regain his father’s favor is to succeed in a venture his father attempted and very publicly failed at: he will hunt the famous Loch Ness monster and when he finds it he will restore his father’s name and return to his father’s good graces (and pocketbook). Joined by their friend Hank, a wealthy socialite, the three make their way to Scotland in the midst of war.
Each day the two men go off to hunt the monster, while another monster, Hitler, is devastating Europe. And Maddie, now alone in a foreign country, must begin to figure out who she is and what she wants. The novel tells of Maddie’s social awakening: to the harsh realities of life, to the beauties of nature, to a connection with forces larger than herself, to female friendship, and finally, to love.
Friends and Strangers by J. Courtney Sullivan
Elisabeth, an accomplished journalist and new mother, is struggling to adjust to life in a small town after nearly twenty years in New York City. Alone in the house with her infant son all day (and awake with him much of the night), she feels uneasy, adrift. She neglects her work, losing untold hours to her Brooklyn moms' Facebook group, her "influencer" sister's Instagram feed, and text messages with the best friend she never sees anymore.
Enter Sam, a senior at the local women's college, whom Elisabeth hires to babysit. Sam is struggling to decide between the path she's always planned on and a romantic entanglement that threatens her ambition. She's worried about student loan debt and what the future holds. In short order, they grow close. But when Sam finds an unlikely kindred spirit in Elisabeth's father-in-law, the true differences between the women's lives become starkly revealed and a betrayal has devastating consequences.

𝚂𝚊𝚕𝚟𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 (𝙿𝚝 𝟸)
In the warehouse, John pulls up in his truck, gets out and checks the antique gun, then takes out rosary beads and a flask of holy water. He starts looking around and sees a tank on the roof. John is jogging along an alley, stopping to check the pipes that run along its walls and then continuing.
----
At Monica's house, Sam, Dean and Theo sit in the Impala, the Colt between the two boys. They watch through the window as Monica and her husband finish dinner.
"Maybe we should tell em it was a gas leak. Might get em out of the house for a few hours"
"Yeah, and how many times has that actually worked for us?"
"Yeah" Sam thinks some more "We could always tell em the truth" Theo just looks at Sam for a long moment, one eyebrow raised.
"Nah!" The three say in unison.
"I know, I know. I just...with what's coming for these folks"
"Sam we only got one more and you know it, all right? We gotta wait for that demon to show itself and then we get it before it gets them" The three look back at the house for a while.
"I wonder how Dad's doing"
"I'd feel a lot better if we were there backing him up"
"I'd feel a lot better if he were here backing us up" They kept watching the house.
==
John is standing on the roof next to the tank. Meg appears in the foreground. She slowly looks around then up at the water tank. John is not there. She moves inside. John is hiding behind the tank. He checks the coast is clear, then climbs the ladder. He opens the lid, holds the rosary up, speaks in Latin and drops the rosary into the water.
==
"This is weird" Sam says.
"What?" Theo asks,
"After all of these years we're finally here. It doesn't seem real"
"We just gotta keep our heads and do our job, like always" Dean says.
"Yeah, but this isn't like always"
"True"
"Dean, Theo...ah...I wanna thank you"
"For what?" The two say in unison.
"For everything. You two always had my back you know? Even when I couldn't count on anyone, I could always count on you two. And ah...I don't know I just wanted to let you guys know, just in case"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, are you kidding me?" Dean says.
"What?"
"Don't say just in case something happens to you. I don't wanna hear that freaking speech man. Nobody's dying tonight. Not us, not that family, nobody. Except that demon. That evil son of a bitch aint getting any older than tonight, you understand me?"
==
Meg stands in the middle of the room. She hears a creak and turns. John is walking towards her. He stops a few feet away.
"John, you made it. Too bad really. I was hoping to kill more of your friends"
"Sorry to disappoint"
"I can see where your boys get their looks. Oh, that glare, now I know where Theo got that from. Though I must admit, considering what they say about you I thought you'd be...taller" John just stares at her "Well aren't you the chatty one. You wanna get to business? Fine. Why don't you just hand over the gun"
"If I give you the gun, how do I get out of here?" John asks.
"If you're as good as they say you are I'm sure you'll figure something out"
"Maybe I'll just shoot you"
"You wanna shoot me baby? Go ahead. There’s more where I came from" Another guy walks out of the shadows.
"Who the hells that?"
"He's not nearly as much fun I am I can tell you that. So, I suggest you give us the gun" John stares as the other demon for a long moment, then back at Meg.
"Now!" John hands over the gun to Meg, but first. She checks it out "This is the colt?" John nods. She hands the gun over to the other demon "What do you think?" The other demon looks at it, pointing at the wound "You shot me! I can't believe you just shot me!" The other demon looks at John.
"It's a fake" He throws the gun away. Meg also turns to look at John.
"You're dead John. Your boys are dead. Your daughter is dead" John backs slowly away.
"I've never used the gun. How could I know it wouldn't work" Meg advances.
"I'm so not in the mood for this. I've just been shot"
"Well then I guess you're lucky the gun wasn't real"
"That's funny John. We're going to strip the skin from your bones, but that was funny" A noise of gas escaping distracts Meg for a split second and John runs into the other room, locking the door and going down a hatch into the alley he was in earlier, lined with pipes. Meg and the other demon kick open the door and follow. John reaches the other end and turns on a tap. Water starts gushing over the floor. The other demon, now in front of Meg, pauses, then continues. As he walks through the water his feet begin steaming and he jumps backwards, yelling "Holy water John. Real cute" John takes off.
==
"Dad's not answering" Dean says, holding his phone to his ear.
"Maybe Meg was late. Maybe cell reception's bad"
"Yeah well" The radio starts chattering with static.
"Dean waits. Listen" Sam rolls the dial on the radio, hearing more static come and go. The wind picks up and the light in the house flicker. Dean turns to look at Sam, Theo doing the same "It's coming" The three jump out of the car.
==
John makes it back to his truck to find all the tires slashed.
"Damn it" He runs around the side of the building.
==
Dean uses a card to slide the lock on the front door and opens and they enter silently. As they approach the lounge, Sam first, then Dean, Theo is confronted by a man, who swings a bat at hear head – missing and smashing a lamp instead.
"Get out of my house!" Theo quickly closes in and grapples with him, grabbing the bat "Get out of my house!"
"Please, please. Mr Holden please" Theo easily takes control, swinging him against the wall and holding the bat across his throat. Dean walks over.
"Be quite and listen to me. Be quite and listen. We are trying to help you" Dean says, sharply.
"Charlie? Is everything okay?" Monica asks from upstairs.
"Monica get the baby!"
"Don't go in the nursery!"
"You stay away from her!" He struggles to get away from Theo. She backhands him, knocking him unconscious, and Dean puts him over his shoulder in a fireman's lift. Upstairs Monica, in her nightgown, pushed the door to the nursery open. A dark figure stands over Rosie's crib.
"What are you..." The figure raises his hand and Monica is flung back against the wall. Sam races up the stairs and along the corridor as Monica slides up the wall and onto the ceiling. He enters the room and the dark figure turns to him, yellow eyes shining. Sam hesitates, frozen and staring
"Rosie!" Sam raises the Colt and pulls the trigger. The demon disappears into smoke. Monica, screaming, falls to the floor.
"Where the hell did it go!"
"My baby!" Monica stands, trying to move toward the crib, and is caught by Sam "My baby!"
"No wait!" Monica starts fighting Sam to get out of his arms "MY BABY!" Theo runs past them to the crib.
"Take her and go!"
"Rosie!"
"Come on"
"My baby!" Sam forces her out of the room.
“Theo's go her" Theo quickly wraps the blankets around the baby and pulls her up as the crib explodes into flames and she races out of the room.
-----
John runs down a dead end and stops, looking around and gasping for breath. He grabs for his phone but as he raises it he is flung against the wall, losing his grip on the phone. He hits the wall, groaning in pain. The male demon appears as John begins to slide up the wall and stands in front of him, smiling.
-----
The nursery window explodes outwards, flames shooting out. Monica appears from the smoke-filled front doorway, guided by Sam and Dean. Both are coughing. Holden staggers up from where he was lying on the grass.
"You get away from my family"
"No Charlie don't. They saved us" Theo runs out to join them, holding the baby. Monica begins to cry "I mean they saves us" Monica takes the baby from Theo and her husband put his arms around both of them. Monica turns to the Winchesters "Thank you" A devastated, Sam, Dean and Theo turn back to the burning house. The demon is silhouetted in the burning nursery, standing completely still and Sam starts to go back inside.
"It's still in there!" Dean and Theo grabs Sam.
"Sam. Sam, no" Sam struggles.
"Dean, Theo let me go, it's still in there"
"No. It's burning to the ground, it's suicide" Theo says.
"I don't care" Sam yells.
"We do!" Dean shouts. The three look back up as the flame rises again and the demon disappears.
===
Back in their motel room, Dean paces while holding the phone to his ear, listening to it ring out. Sam sits on the bed, Theo next on a chair at the table and Dean becomes frustrated.
"Come on Dad, answer your phone damn it" He hands up "Somethings wrong" Sam stares at the wall, giving great bitchface "You hear me? Somethings wrong"
"If you two had just let me, go in there, I coulda ended all this"
"Sam, the only thing you would have ended was your life" Theo says.
"You didn't know that" Dean walks towards the bed.
"So, what, you're just willing to sacrifice yourself, is that it?" Sam stands up.
"Yeah. Yeah, you're damn right I am"
"Well, that's not going to happen, not as long as we're around" Dean gestures to himself and Theo.
"What the hell are you talking about Dean, we've been searching for this demon our whole lives. It's the only thing we've even cared about"
"Sam I wanna waste it. I do. Okay? But it's not worth dying over"
"What?"
"I mean it. If hunting this demon means getting yourself killed then I hope we never find the damn thing"
"That thing killed Jess. That thing killed Mom" Theo stands and walks over to the two.
"You said yourself once, that no matter what we do, they're gone, and they're never coming back" she says. Sam totally loses it, grabs Theo and shoves her hard against the wall. Sam looks angry and upset.
"Don't you say that, not you! Not after all this don't you dare say that" Dean was about to get him off but Theo stops him.
"Sam look. The four of us...that's all we have...and it's all I have. Sometimes I feel like I'm barely holding it together man...and without you, Dean or Dad..."
"Dad" Sam says upset. He lets go and hugs her. She takes deep breaths and hugs him back, stroking his back. Sam has tears in his eyes and looks to Dean.
"He should have called by now. Try him again" Dean raises his phone.
==
John's phone sits on a bench, ringing. Meg wanders over and picks it up. She looks at the screen, smiles to herself and answers.
"You three really screwed up this time"
"Where is he?" Dean asks angrily.
"You're never going to see your father again"

Most Likely (high school reunion Stucky fic)
Four:
"Look," Steve scoffed, showing off his speed and agility by running around Sam, "I'm literally running circles around you."
"Man, if you don't shut the hell up, imma shut you the hell up," Sam panted.
Steve just laughed and fell in step beside the other man. Their run was almost done and then they could relax. Or, at least, they could try to relax. And by, 'they,' it was Steve. He just felt... off... without the kids.
The kids had always been his favorite part of his day and were definitely what he adored the most from his marriage with Peggy. He – like they had agreed – was a stay at home father. And for eight years he was a stay at home father until he and Peggy finally decided to do the mature thing and call it quits.
For anyone to see, it was obvious that Steve was the more hands-on parent. Waking them up in the morning. Getting them around for school. Packing lunches made with extra love and individual notes wishing the kids a good day. Dropping them off at school before he got ready for his own students to arrive. Then, he would pick them up, take them to soccer or tee-ball or ballet or whatever else their little hearts desired. Making sure that they ate a relatively healthy meal, did their homework, and then tuck them into bed.
Of course, none of that was to say Peggy wasn't a good mother or that she didn't love their kids. Because she did. She loved them so much! But Peggy's first love would always be her career, and Steve didn't fault her for that. He was the one who wanted to be a father, and they both knew their stances going into their marriage.
And Steve knew that – like him – Peggy would take on an entire army for their kids. Their kids knew that too. Sure, Peggy wasn't necessarily the most outright affectionate parent, but each parent loved in their own way. Peggy's happened to be praises. Hanging drawings on her fridge. Bragging about a good grade. Cheering the loudest at the kids' games.
Steve, on the other hand, took after his own parents. Making sure to give bear hugs and kisses on foreheads. Making sure to give them extra snuggles at bedtime and making sure to wipe their tears away when they cried.
It had been eight years since he was a stay at home dad, and he doubted that the kids even remembered that time, but he still did so much for them. He always would.
Now what was he supposed to do with them across the pond?
When their run was over, they caught their breath and stretched. Sam said, "Monica is making some beignets. If you, y'know, wanna come over for breakfast."
As much as Steve didn't want to be alone, he also didn't want to feel like a burden. And Steve knew that Sam didn't act like he was being a burden, but old insecurities die hard. Besides, the only person that Steve never felt like a burden to was –
Shaking his head to get steel-blue eyes out of his mind, Steve declined, "No, that's okay."
"Probably for the best," Sam smirked. Clarifying, "She's trying to teach Sloane to cook."
"Oof," Steve chuckled, thinking back to when he first attempted to teach Harrison how to cook. The poor kid had almost burned the house down from making rice crispy treats! Steve still wasn't sure how he had managed to do that, but he tried to keep an eye on him because the kid was going to learn how to feed himself.
"Hey, um," Steve started. Keeping his focus on the ground and his attention mostly on his stretches, he asked Sam, "Are you going to the reunion?"
"Hell yeah, I am!"
Steve was a little surprised at that. Moreso how hyped he was rather than his confirmation.
Sam broke it down, "I'm gonna show off my hot wife and brag about our badass daughter!"
"Glad you have a plan," Steve chuckled.
"Hey," Sam leaned against a tree, "What about you? Since the kids are with Peggy?"
"I, uh," Steve started, but stopped. He wasn't sure how he wanted to finish that.
There was a part of him that wanted to go. Show off the man he had grown into. See the shocked looks from those who he didn't have on his friend list. But mostly, he was afraid. Not of the bullies that he fought all of those years ago. Oh no, he wasn't even scared of them back then. No, what he was afraid of, was seeing Bucky Barnes.
Unlike most of the people from their graduating class, Bucky didn't have social media. No Facebook, no Instagram, not even a goddamn LinkedIn for fuck's sake. And at first, Steve had been relieved that Bucky wasn't friends with everyone but him. Because that had been his biggest fear after Bucky ghosted him. Afraid that he had personally done something to make his best friend not want to be his friend anymore.
So, at least there was that small silver lining.
Now though, he was afraid to see Bucky Barnes. Bucky Barnes and his perfect steel-blue eyes. Bucky Barnes and the chin dimple that Steve wanted to kiss, even to this day. Bucky Barnes and his infectious sarcasm. Bucky Barnes and his sunny, happy-go-lucky demeanor.
Just Bucky Barnes being Bucky Barnes. His perfect, stupid self.
God, Steve missed him. Missed him so fucking much that even twenty-five years later, it still hurt just as much as that first day of no communication had.
"It might be good," Sam offered, soft and kind. The same way he talked to the group down at the VA. "And besides, you can't tell me that you've never thought about showing off that body."
Blushing, Steve shoved Sam. Then, nearly dropped to the ground from laughing so hard when Sam fell on his ass. All the while, the Black man scowled up at him while extending his hand in a silent plea to be helped up. Of course, Steve did. He wasn't completely an asshole, after all.
Looking at his watch, Sam asked, "You sure you don't wanna come over for breakfast?"
"Yeah, man, I'm sure," Steve assured. As they started to depart in their opposite directions, Steve said, "Raincheck?"
"Raincheck," Sam agreed.
Needing to clear his head a little more, Steve ran home. There was so much that he wanted to know about his childhood best friend. And there seemed to only be one way he'd find out.

Sam knew Bucky was in one of his moods. One of his moods where he’d disappear for five days, not give a clue to where he was going, and return covered in blood. Although Bucky’s closest friend and Beta to his pack, Sam, was getting married this week, Bucky was stuck in his ways. Bucky knew that a wedding meant that another pack would be invading his land, filling the pack house with strangers, and two packs meant there would be two Alphas. Although he respected Alpha Fury, Bucky wasn’t the type to get along nicely with others, especially other Alphas.
It was one in the morning when the white wolf passed through the tree line, the packhouse coming into view. The three-story cabin fit many of the high-ranking families and was the center of most pack activities. Meetings, gatherings, and celebrations for the Winter’s Shield pack were all held here.
Bucky shifted, each one of his bones cracking roughly back into place as if they’d forgotten they were half-human. As he expected, there was a pair of shorts waiting for him on the porch. Nat always hated when he’d show up naked in the middle of the night. This is my house, he’d say. Save it for your mate, she’d say back. Bucky would always scoff at that. Not many Alphas make it to their thirties without a mate and Bucky was quite willing to keep his single streak going.
The house was heated, comforting him after losing the warmth of his coat. Still, he was covered in elk blood and could use a shower along with a twelve-hour nap. He walked towards the winding stairs, only to hear rumbling in the kitchen, and deciding to investigate. He was the only night owl around here, or at least that’s what he thought.
He could already smell that there were foreigners around and prayed this week would go by fast. Flicking on the kitchen light, he found you sitting on the island counter. You looked up from your carton of chocolate ice cream with wide eyes. He expected you to freak out at the sight of him but it seemed you were more embarrassed on your behalf rather than frightened.
“Sorry … I was just gonna have one bowl and then that turned into two. And then  …” You emphasized the spoon that was sitting in the mostly eaten carton. Omega, his wolf said. There was a strange omega sitting on his kitchen counter in oversized pajamas and hair rollers. His eyes fell to something sitting behind her which she instantly pushed further behind her back in panic, “There’s a little left if you want some.”
“Who are you?” Bucky asked, a little more harshly than he intended.
“Y/N,” You answered, a bit flustered, “I’m Monica’s sister … also her maid of honor. I know there isn’t usually a maid of honor in our wedding ceremonies but there’s always a maid of honor in the movies. I’m gonna throw her such a cool bachelorette party, Natasha said we could have it in the living room-”
Bucky felt suffocated by your excitement. Feeling overwhelmed by the bright lights and whatever his wolf was feeling for you, he said, “Stop,” He raised a hand, confused by your comfortableness with the situation. You talked to him, an Alpha, so casually and you didn’t seem at all frightened by his bloody appearance,  “Do you know who I am?”’
“Alpha Barnes,” You hopped down from the counter, making sure to keep whatever you were hiding behind your back, “Sam said you’d be back at some point. They made a bet on whether or not you’d get back before or after my dad left. Everyone said you’d skip the wedding.”
Alpha Fury’s second daughter. An Omega. An annoying, little, ice-cream stealing Omega.
“Well here I am,” Bucky stepped closer to you and was surprised when you didn’t even blink at that. An omega raised by an Alpha, you were something Bucky had never encountered, “Why are you raiding my kitchen so late at night, Omega.”
There was a flash of sadness in your eyes, “I had a nightmare … ice cream always makes me feel better. You ever get nightmares, Alpha Barnes?” Bucky’s brows furrowed.
“No,” Bucky spoke coldy, confused about what was pulling him closer to you.
“Nuh-uh, no way,” Bucky thought you were challenging him but there was an innocent smile on your face, “My Dad said you’ve fought in lots of battles, challenged a lot of other Alphas, you must see a lot of terrible stuff. You never even get a little bit scared?”
Bucky ignored your pressing question, the look on his face frustrated, “What’s behind your back?”
“Uhm … what’s behind yours?” You tried distracting him but Bucky knew there was nothing behind him.
“Show me,” He commanded, knowing that Omega inside of you wouldn’t want to disobey him.
You huffed.
Stupid alphas, Bucky heard your voice but your lips didn’t move.
You pulled an old, stuffed bear from behind your back, “It’s Mr. Cuddlebear …. he also helps with the nightmares,” In his eyes, you were definitely too old to have a stuffed animal but his wolf found it endearing. He hated that, “You never got scared even when you were a little? No monsters under the bed? Boogeyman in the closet?”
“It’s late,” Bucky changed the subject, “I’m sure we have a long week ahead of us. I’d take … that-”
“Mr. Cuddlebear,” You interrupted, reminding him of your teddy bear’s name.
“Go to bed, little wolf.”
Stupid Alpha voice.
You rolled your eyes as your feet began to move before your brain began to register, “Goodnight, Alpha Barnes,” You left the kitchen, carrying the teddy bear with you, “Sleep tight, don’t let the vampires bite.” He heard your little giggle as you climbed up the stairs.
Bucky placed his hands on the counter, staring at the ice cream. Did he ever have nightmares? No one had ever asked him that before.
Tumblr media
Bucky cleaned up nice, you thought as you looked at him across the room. No one expected him to even come, let alone put on a nice suit jacket. The rehearsal dinner was loud with both Winter’s Shield and the Daystar pack mingling together for the first time. Sam seemed to be having the time of his life, your father was being much lighter than usual, and Monica was …. well, Monica.
You were talking with a bunch of people, giving out the sugar cookies you’d made when you made eye contact with him. He drank from his glass of wine and you noticed he was standing with Sam and Monica. She was in the prettiest yellow dress and you could tell Sam was happy to find a mate so beautiful.
You’d looked away, focusing on meeting everyone when Monica started to walk towards you.
“Stay away from him, please,” She stepped in front of you.
“Stay away from who?”
“Alpha Barnes,” She spoke lowly.
“He’ll be your Alpha soon, you know.”
“You don’t think I know that?”
“I already met him, Monica,” You smiled, “He was nice to me in like a weird, cold way.”
She shook her head, your words seeming to worry her more, “That’s what I’m worried about,” She grabbed your hand, leading you away to one of the tables in the corner. You had a plate of sugar cookies in your hands, some you’d made especially for the party to give out, “You have a tendency to make people like you but you don’t want him to like you, trust me. All that stuff Daddy taught us still stands, it doesn’t matter that we know him now. So just sit here, and do nothing, please.”
“But what about my cookies? I have to give them out!” You whined as she fenced you in, forcing you to sit down.
“I’ll do it,” She smiled, taking the plate from your hands, “You’ve socialized enough I think so just … relax.”
“But-” She was already walking away. You loved your sister, she was your best friend, but she was still a Beta. She had no idea what it was like to be you, surrounded by jerks who thought they were better than you. Maybe that’s why you liked talking with people so much, to prove that maybe you were more fragile than them but you weren’t invisible. Right now, you felt invisible.
You could only watch everyone have fun without you for so long and you got out of the seat about ten minutes later. You left the large white tent, where it was much cooler, and you didn’t mind being alone as much.
You told yourself to cheer up, trying not to frown. A week from now, you’ll be home, you’ll be on house arrest again but without Monica. You were going to savor this small vacation no matter the obstacles.
Bucky found you outside sitting in the grass as you stared up at the moon. He got that feeling again, his wolf wanting to be closer to yours, and wished he felt differently. You looked back at him as you felt him approaching, and you heard Monica’s voice in your head telling you to stay away.
“Did you try my cookies?” Your lips pulled into a smile that, like everything about you, confused him.
“I didn’t … I watched Sam eat six of them though,” The tall Alpha responded, sticking his hands into his pants pocket.
“Watching your perfect, Alpha-physique?”
Bucky actually felt the need to smile though he kept himself controlled, “Something of that nature, yes.”
“Awe, a few cookies won’t hurt,” You stood up from the ground, dusting off your dress. Bucky noticed your mary jane’s and the little butterfly clips in your curls, “Let me guess, you only prey on innocent animals.”
The Alpha smirked, “I’ll make sure to try your cookies next time, little wolf.”
“Sadly, there won’t be a next time,” You stepped past him and he followed after you, as you walked towards the tree line, “My father will probably find me a mate that lives across the country so he doesn’t have to deal with me.”
“Ah, that’s right,” Both Monica and Fury wanted to make it clear to him that you were practically claimed. You didn’t know yet but Peter Parker of the Stark pack was waiting for you. Fury was planning a quick, summer wedding, “I can’t imagine the poor fool who will have to deal with your kitchen raids and Mr. Cuddlebear.”
You grinned, “You remembered his name?” Bucky remembered and he’d been watching you ever since that late night, “I thought you might laugh at me, Monica does.”
Bucky was quiet for a long moment and, as you looked at him, it seemed that his mind was racing with thoughts, “I’ve had nightmares before,” He stated and you waited for him to elaborate.
“What happened in them?” You prodded softly.
Another long pause, “When was the last time you shifted?”
You figured that’s all you were going to get out of him. You thought for a moment, “I can’t even remember. Not since the winter solstice at least.”
“Let’s go on a run,” Bucky said, not waiting for you to agree. He picked up his pace, walking past the tree line and expecting you to follow. You hurried after him, your heart suddenly beginning to pound in your chest.
“Alpha Bucky, Monica will kill me. Literally. She threw a hairdryer at me once,” You said, sounding panicked, though you got deeper and deeper into the woods, “And what about my dress?”
He turned around suddenly and you almost ran into his broad chest, “Take it off,” He ordered. Your hand instinctively reached up to the strap and you panicked, “Go behind a tree, I mean.”
“But Monica-”
“You’re an adult, right?”
You shrugged, “I try to be-”
“Then you can decide. Besides that, I’ll be Monica’s Alpha soon enough.”
You imagined her throwing a fit but you still conceded, walking to find a tree to hide behind, “It might take me a second, I think I’m a shy shifter.”
“Take your time, little wolf,” His words were more comforting than you expected.
You stripped from your clothes behind the tree, trying not to imagine what Monica would think of you. An unmated female getting naked in the forest with an unmated male in the middle of the forest? There were all types of moral codes you had to be breaking.
Standing in the cold, you shut your eyes tightly. Monica taught you the counting method when you were younger. You tried to tune out the rest of your thoughts, focusing on the nature around you, as you counted down from ten over and over again. It was instinct after that, the Moon Goddess taking over and unleashing your inner wolf. You didn’t feel the pain as your bones molded into their new positions and you became the second version of yourself.
When you stepped from behind the tree, the white wolf was towering over your small, grey figure.
His head tilted down towards you and you could already tell his wolf wanted to be more friendly with you than his human self. He smelled you, biting at your neck but you were even more playful in wolf form. You walked between his legs, confusing him, until you ran in the opposite direction. He chased after you and you didn’t expect to outrun him but you planned to give him a run for his money.
Tumblr media
He couldn’t sleep with you so close by. He tried going on another run to clear his head but his mind was full with you. He’d lived a long life yet this feeling in his soul was brand new. Never had Bucky desired anyone to be anything but a casual fling. His wolf wanted more than to just conquer you which was territory Bucky found hard to navigate. What would it say for his legacy if he took an Omega as his mate? How empty would he feel if he let you go tomorrow? What relationships would he throw away in order to claim you as his?
Covered in sweat, he pulled the sheets from his body, sitting up in his bed.
Nightmare, his wolf echoed in his mind. Bucky rubbed his temples. That wasn’t a nightmare to him, he was just an overthinking mess. He was going to ignore that feeling until he sensed something was truly wrong.
She dreams of pain and suffering.
Go to her.
Bucky stood up from his bed, filing out of his room, and down the long hallways of the packhouse. He pressed his ear to your door, his hand lightly touching the doorknob. He heard soft whimpers from the inside and, for a moment, he resisted you. He would turn around and try to go back to sleep. Instead, his wolf took control.
Bucky opened the door, your whimpering continuing and you stirred although it wasn’t because of him. He closed the door gently, moving towards your bed, crossing a boundary that he was sure would be frowned upon. Your cheeks were stained with tears and you seemed to be grabbing Mr. Cuddlebear for dear life.
He sat carefully at the edge of the bed, reaching out to touch you, “Y/N,” He whispered, trying to suppress the anger that he felt over the pain you were in.
“No, no,” You whispered over and over again.
“Little wolf,” He whispered again, his hand on your arm. The Alpha’s touch startled you out of your sleep and your eyes were wide with fear as you came back to consciousness. You weren’t sure why he was in your room or why your nightmares were getting so bad, “It’s just a bad dream-”
You sat up from your position and wrapped your arms around the Alpha. He seemed to freeze at your touch but you hugged him tighter for comfort. He wrapped his arms around you, his hand tentatively rubbing at your back and you heavily breathed against his chest.
“I’m sorry, I just … you were crying.”
“I-I woke you up?”
“No,” Bucky lied, “I was just walking by and I heard you.”
“Alpha Bucky?”
“Yes?”
“Everything’s going to change tomorrow. My wolf, she senses something bad coming, and she’s scared.”
Bucky stiffened again, his wolf beginning to worry.  “Something bad? What do you mean?”
“I don’t know but the dreams are getting worse.”
“What do you see in your dreams?”
“I’m … I’m walking in his field, there’s so much sunshine and flowers a-and I’m walking towards the sun. I’m walking and walking and I’m happy and then I just start to sink into the ground. And I’m drowning and it feels like someone is holding me, pulling down further and further. I can’t breathe and there’s just this darkness a-and I-I-”
“Hey, hey,” He shushed you, sensing you were about to hyperventilate,  “It’s okay. Nothing is going to take you away. No one, do you understand?”
He felt you nodding and he grabbed you tighter, deciding he was going to hold you for as long as you needed him to.
Tumblr media
“I didn’t tell you because of this reason-”
The pen in Bucky’s hand snapped in half and his fists balled up tightly, “Sam, today is your wedding, I understand that but this is my territory. I decide who comes in and out of it. That’s final.”
“They’re already here-”
“Then send them away. Fury is trying to push me and this is the final straw.”
“He’s already married the first daughter off, he’s just trying to do the same with Y/N. And he knows that this is a chance for three alphas to sit down and discuss what we’re going to do about the rogue situation.”
Feeling that he was drawing blood from clenching his fist so hard, he moved them under his desk.  “I can handle problems that concern my own pack. Tony is even more arrogant than Fury, we’ll never agree.”
“You have to at least try, Alpha,” Sam sighed, “You haven’t found one woman you’d consider having little Buckys with. Maybe Stark will bring someone that will pique your interest?”
Bucky ignored him, “When Stark arrives-” Sam let out a triumphant cheer, “-Bring him and Fury to my office. I won’t need you here, I’m sure you’ll have much to prepare for this evening.”
“You won't regret this.”
Tumblr media
Bucky followed Peter’s line of sight. There you were, standing in a beautiful periwinkle dress, waiting for your sister to walk down the aisle and join an anxious Sam. The birds were singing, a violin was being played, and everyone was collectively ready to celebrate the joyous moment. Everyone except Bucky.
Of course, Peter wanted to look at you, a beautiful creature, an unmated female, he'd be lucky to call you his mate. He was young like you, he'd be able to get all your references, keep up with your energetic ramblings, you'd get to go far away from your father and you'd be so happy. You'd forget all about Monica. You’d forget all about the week you spend in Winter’s Shield.
The wedding went off without a hitch and Bucky watched you have the time of your life. Peter targeted you, of course, that was the entire reason was her, to woo you and it was working. You were dancing together, laughing when Peter made a silly misstep.
Bucky shooed away every Stark girl who tried to approach him, even denying a Beta, until he was standing alone in the corner.
The festivities calmed down late into the night, you had to say goodbye to Peter, Monica was whisked away to a “private cabin” and everyone else returned to their rooms. Your father reminded you to pack your things as you’d be leaving early in the morning.
Looking at Mr. Cuddlebear sitting on your bed, you were reminded of the events of last night. You didn’t expect so much kindness from the cold Alpha but, as Monica warned you, he seemed to like you. You still thought she was being dramatic with her warning and that she would grow to like her new Alpha.
You never did really get to thank him and he also never tried your cookies. You had an amazing idea and late-night baking always led to amazing things.
Tumblr media
Bucky was pacing the length of his room when there was a knock at his door. His wolf knew instantly that it was with you like the Moon Goddess had answered his prayers. He was fighting every natural urge in his body and he planned to hide away until everyone was gone tomorrow. Now, he had no idea what he was going to do.
When Bucky opened the door, you were standing with a plate of cookies and a glass of milk, and a kind smile on your face, “A thank you for last night,” You offered, “I figured you’d like a plain chocolate chip cookie. I’m not sure though-”
“Come in,” Bucky said quickly, closing the door behind you. You noted that he was still wearing his dress pants though he was only wearing a sleeveless undershirt at his top. Though you’d seen him shirtless before, this time felt more intimate.
“Try one,” You insisted, “Please.”
Bucky was hesitant, his diet not usually including such human pleasures, but he was quite surprised with the first bite. You seemed nervous, expecting a good reaction which Bucky found adorable, “They’re good,” Bucky nodded, “I mean, they’re great. Here, come sit down.”
As you took a seat on the edge of the giant bed, Bucky grabbed the glass and plate from your hands, moving to set it on the nightstand, “Your room is … big.”
You grew a bit nervous as the bed dipped beside you and Bucky took a seat. You always felt his strong energy, even last night, but now it was a bit overpowering. You blamed it on the approaching full moon and tried to ignore it, “You don’t like it?”
“No, no, I like it. It’s … simple,” Bucky tried his best to register your mood. Were you nervous? That was the last feeling he expected to feel from you. You were always rambling or talking about something you were annoyingly passionate about.
“What’s wrong?” Bucky asked, his head turned to you.
You didn’t answer him, “What do you know about the Stark pack?”
Bucky’s hands folded together and his jaw clenched as reality set in, “I sense you know of your father’s plans.”
“I had a suspicion,” You sighed.
“And … you’re unhappy with his decision?”
You were quiet for a moment, “What if it isn’t a good idea?”
“I’m sure … I’m sure your father wouldn’t lead you astray. The man infuriates me but he’s usually quite wise …”
“You’re right …” You said, staring back at the Alpha who seemed to be experiencing a whirlwind of emotions behind his eyes, “My nightmares, they just make me nervous for the future-”
“You could stay,” Bucky stated quickly, sure of himself. His hand touched your thigh and your eyes began to widen, “With me, I mean. And, of course, Monica would be here too.”
You swallowed the lump in your throat, “You don’t mean … I’m an Omega, Alpha Bucky.”
A thin smile pulled at his lips, “I’ve noticed that, yes. Believe me, my offer does not come from a place of ignorance. I’ve been thinking about this, I promise, and it could be good for both of us. You could stay near your sister and I could …”
It took everything in you to push away from that bed, “My Dad would be livid. Beyond livid, actually. And Peter. The treaty. It would throw everything off balance, Alpha Bucky.” He stood, his shadow draping over you as you took a hesitant step back.
“Who needs balance if there is a connection here. My wolf feels yours, they’re drawn to each other, I know you can sense that.”
“Bucky-”
“Listen, little wolf, please,” He insisted, stepping closer, “I’ve never been sure before, not in my entire life. This, I am sure about.”
You shook your head, “Well, I am not,” Bucky’s eyes seemed to darken, “I like you and there’s a connection, yes, but as my father’s daughter, I have responsibilities. I respect him too much to go behind his back. You have to understand that.”
“You came here tonight. That night in the forest. You didn’t know it but you called me to your room last night. What am I supposed to make of your advances-”
“Advances? I thought you were a friend-”
“Stop,” He commanded, leaving your body frigid from the power of his voice, “Don’t move.”
He took your face into his hands and you whimpered, “Bucky, I gave you the wrong impression.”
“No, you may not know it yet but this is what your wolf wants. We’re animals, underneath it all, and there’s only so much we can control our own desires,” You pushed against his chest when he smashed his lips on yours. You bit down on your bottom lip, wishing your feet would push you further away from him. When he pulled away, he was grinning, blood on his lips, “Biting, huh? I’m happy to play along with your game.”
You opened your mouth but he was too quick, “Don’t scream, little wolf. The screaming is the next part.”
His hands move to your waist, pulling you into his muscular body. He kissed you again, kissing the sides of your mouth and chin.  Your hands pulled into small fists as he held you, his touch sending foreign feelings through your body. You felt an overwhelming warmth, more than his body heat, but the warmth of the bond his own wolf felt for yours. His mouth met with your neck and that's when your lips parted and moans escaped your lips.
“Please,” Was all you could manage. “Please stop.”
Your mouth was saying one thing but it was clear to him that you enjoyed his touch, “Don’t think of me like the bad guy, Omega. When I’m your Alpha, I won’t be like Fury. I’ll let you be who you are, you won’t be just an object to pawn off for power. You’ll be my Omega but you’ll stand beside me, not behind. You’ll be happy with me. I can take the nightmares aways, remember?”
“No, no,” You resisted, knowing deep down that he was that darkness in your dream. You were right to be scared but you hadn’t suspected that you should be scared of me, “M-My father will challenge you a-and you’ll lose any respect you once had.”
He grabbed you roughly by your chin, his forehead pressed against yours as he held your body, “I’ve never cared much for puritanical pack society … why should I care now, Omega?”
You sniffled, “Because you care about me?”
“You’re young, little wolf. I don’t expect you to fully understand but it's because I care that I have to do this. It will only hurt for a little while, okay?” He wasn’t asking for permission and as he pulled his face from yours, his eyes went black, and you were already screaming as his sharp canines protruded from his mouth.
He pulled your head to the side, sinking his teeth into your shoulder. As you collapsed, he kept you in his arms, and you both went down to your knees. It was an indescribable pain, paralyzing, until it wasn’t. Your vision blurred as it felt like the strongest drug rushed through your body. It was not the way you imagined you’d be marked, you surely weren’t in love, and the man who’d claimed you was unhinged.
As you slipped into the darkness, you heard someone screaming your name. You felt a little hope that you’d be saved but you couldn’t hold on longer.
Tumblr media
You grabbed your shoulder instantly as your eyes shot open, roughly pulling yourself from slumber. You winced, your hand running over the bandaged skin, as you realized the magnitude of the situation. Taking a moment to look around your surroundings, you found that you were somewhere that you didn’t recognize.
It was a small, one-room cabin, the living room, kitchen and the bed you were on were all in the same room. A tear slipped down your face as you threw your legs over the side of the bed. Your legs were bare, your bridesmaid dress gone, and a large t-shirt was the only thing that you were wearing. He’d undressed you all the way and had no problem with it, probably due to the fact that he’d bonded you together for life.
He’d even made sure to bring Mr. Cuddlebear along though you weren’t sure anything could calm you now.
As you were about to push yourself off the bed, the cabin door opened, and a shirtless, freshly-shifted Bucky appeared. He took one look at you and his jaw clenched.
“W-Where are we?”
“Couple miles off of my territory,” He stated, shutting the door and walking to the kitchen. As he turned his back, you got up from the bed, moving cautiously towards the fireplace which was closer to the door, “So no one can bother us.”
“My Father, where is he? How did you … without him knowing …”
He reached into the cabinet, grabbing a glass to fill with tap water. You were eyeing the door, wondering if he was just pretending to be distracted by his task, “Oh, he knew,” Bucky chuckled, “He was livid, like you said, but he couldn’t do anything. He can’t touch you anymore now that you’re bitten. No one can.”
Your face fell, “But-” Bucky turned around and it hit you. The bite reshaped your chemistry and now any Alpha wouldn’t be able to get near you until you were fully mated. Alpha Fury wasn’t coming for you.
But Monica-
“Monica isn’t coming either, little wolf. Remember, I’m her Alpha now too,” Bucky moved forward, the glass in hand, “You should drink, you lost a good amount of blood.”
You stepped to the side, moving away as he approached, “You knew you’d only hurt me, even when I thought you were my friend.”
His lips pressed into a thin line as he moved closer, “I know that’s how you feel now-” You climbed onto the couch and over it as he moved closer, “Y/N, come here. Now.” You eyed the door, now closer to it than he was.
“You’re a monster.”
“Little mate, if you continue to not listen to me, I’m going to come over there, throw you over my shoulder, and tie you down to that bed for the next few days because that's just the type of mood I’m in right now.”
“I’ll never. Be. Your mate-”
 The sound of breaking glass made you jump and you watched the cup crumble in his grasp. Almost falling, you made a sprint for the door. As soon as you’d gotten it open, a hand was above you, slamming it closed. He grabbed you by the waist, pulling you back towards the bed.
He pushed you down onto it, making sure not to put any pressure on your bite, before climbing on top of you. He pinned down your kicking legs, saying, “You’ll hurt yourself, little mate,” He tried to console you, shushing you as you began to whimper, “Please don’t fight it anymore…” But you panicked even more as he lifted your shirt.
He gripped your thighs tightly, pulling your exposed sex to his mouth. One hand you could barely move because of the bite, the other gripped the comforter tightly, as he kissed between your thighs. Of course you’d never been touched so Bucky would be as gentle as he could manage. He also knew that your new bite would heighten every feeling he gave you and it wasn’t long before you’d be a mewling mess.
You thought that maybe you’d gone into heat, that’s why his touch felt so good, but you were very wrong. You could only imagine what it would feel like when your body craved to be pregnant. He cooled your fire, and within thirty seconds you were already having your first orgasm. He kept his mouth on you as you rode out the pleasure, not letting you take any breaks as he began to kiss up your body, moving the shirt further and further up your body.
He kissed over your mark which sent waves of pleasure through you, making him growl, “You’re mine, little mate,” Then he kissed your lips as you moaned against them. As he positioned himself between your legs, you knew what was coming.
“Bucky, please. I-I’m scared.”
“It’ll hurt just for a little while,” He assured you, reaching above you to grab Mr. Cuddlebear, “Hold on to your bear, little wolf.”
You held the stuffed bear tightly against your chest as he positioned himself at your entrance. You could feel how big he was even as you tried to avoid eye contact with him. Looking away didn’t last long as he grabbed your chin, making sure he could see your face as he slid each inch inside of you. He stretched you open, taking the air from your lungs, as you tried to adjust to the feeling.
“That’s it, I’ve got you,” He grunted, leaning down to kiss your chin. He’d slowly pull in and out of you, letting you get used to him. He kissed over your mark again, easing the pain, and turning your whimpers into moans, “Good girl, my good girl.”
“Please,” You started to wish for him to push you over the edge, to give you another orgasm, not for him to let you go. He kissed you, using his hand to rub your sensitive bulb as he pushed in and out of you, “Please, please - ah!”
Your back arched and your senses were delighted as an orgasm ripped through you. He didn’t slow, speeding up his pace, as he went back to kissing over your bite. He reached below you, pulling you further down onto his member. He was animalistic, every natural instinct in his body telling him to pleasure you until you couldn’t walk anymore and to round your belly.
You came again, this time at the same time as him, your bodies melting together as he released within you. As he laid against you, catching his breath, you could see the setting sun shining through the window. He wasn’t anything like you feared and maybe that's why you trusted him so easily.
“You’ll be happy with me one day, I promise,” He kissed your wet cheeks.
Part of you hoped you could trust him again because, after all, that mark was forever.

Heyy could you do one where Steve and bucky get sick and the reader has to take care of them? And they actually act like big babies and try to convince reader they're fine and don't need the help. ( If you've watched friends, kinda like the one episode where Monica is sick and trying to initiate sex)
Maybe the reader even says " I'm dating two 100 year old babies."
I’ve been waiting for someone to request a Stucky fic coz they’re honestly my favourite ship from the MCU. Hope you like it!!!🌺
You can find my other works on my Main Masterlist.
Getting sick makes me horny
Pairings: Stucky x Reader
Warnings: NON-CANON, fluffffff, talks about sex but no actual smut, Stucky being super cute!!! (as usual)

Y/n’s POV:
“Babe, we’re fine.” Steve said for the seventh time in 2 minutes while Bucky sneezed. Steve turned to glare at Bucky with betrayal written on his face while Bucky shrugged helplessly.
I chuckled at them and pulled the blanket tighter across our shoulders where we were all huddled on the bed. Bucky cuddled further into Steve and for a second I thought Steve would finally give in with how he melted against us. I spoke too soon because Steve immediately shoved Bucky off him while the latter squawked in protest. He scoffed in annoyance and shoved Steve off the bed while cuddling into my side.
“Steve’s right though, we’re fine. We’re super soldiers so we can’t get sick.” Steve nodded in agreement and lifted the laundry basket in rebellion.
“What the fuck are you doing Steve? Put that down!” I squealed as I rolled away from Bucky and toward Steve.
“Language doll.” He said as he held the laundry basket far out of my reach, in the air. “Steve, put that down. I honestly don’t understand why you two are being so stubborn.”
My gaze shifted between them while Bucky knelt on the bed with a smirk on his face. He started to take his shirt off and Steve choked.
“Bub, what are you doing?” I asked as I hid my smile behind my palm. “I’m seducing you of course. I’m horny babe.” He whined and scooted to the edge of the bed while flinging his shirt off to one corner of the bedroom.
He was interrupted by Steve sneezing real big. He winced and apologised before quickly sporting a similar expression to that of Bucky as he started to take his clothes off as well.
I laughed and crossed my hands in front of my chest as they started to inch closer to me. When Bucky realised that this wasn’t working, he grabbed Steve’s chin and started to make out with him. Steve gasped when Bucky’s hand came down to palm at his ass and he slipped his tongue into Steve’s shocked mouth. Bucky pulled away from Steve abruptly and sneezed.
I immediately shifted forward and nudged them into bed. They both whined and pleaded with me to ‘be reasonable’ and ‘sex fixes everything’. I only chuckled and tucked them into bed again.
Bucky turned his annoyed gaze on Steve and said, “This is all your fault. If you hadn’t sneezed in the middle of our make out sesh, we’d be having sex right now, not lying down in bed.”
Steve gasped in offence and turned his equally challenging on Bucky. “If you hadn’t convinced me to go out in that rain, we wouldn’t be sick in the first place.”
“Aha, so you do admit you’re sick?” I said with a smirk while Steve flicked Bucky’s ear. Bucky was about to retaliate when I grasped his hand in mine.
“Now, children. No more fighting. I’ll go make you some soup.” I said as I placed a kiss on each of their warm foreheads while they sighed and snuggled into each other without complaint.
🤧🤧🤧🤧
“How’re the drama queens?” Sam asked as I stepped into the kitchen. I chuckled and responded with a quiet ‘horny’. He choked on his coffee and burst out laughing. I shook my head at his reaction and went back to the soup. “Well, all the best with them.” He said as he waved goodbye with a sympathetic smile. I responded in kind and lifted the tray of soup and started to make my way to our bedroom.
I walked into the both of them making out with no care in the world with Bucky’s hands down Steve’s sweats, fondling his ass and Steve starting to inch his hand down the front of Bucky’s boxers. I had the sudden urge to join them but I couldn’t risk getting sick too. I coughed to get their attention and with a blush on their cheeks, they turned to look at me.
“Can’t you two keep your paws off each other for a whole of 5 minutes?” I asked between a chuckle as I set down the tray on the bedside table and pushed Bucky’s hair out of his face.
Steve, now feeling left out, cuddled into Bucky’s back and pushed his head against my hand.
I laughed and instructed them both to sit up. They followed suit and sat up against the headboard with Steve’s head nestled in the crook of Bucky’s neck and his eyes almost shut. Bucky giggled at his state of Steve and nudged him awake. He whined in protest but sat up nonetheless.
I handed a bowl to Steve who immediately moaned at the warmth from the soup while Bucky begged with a “Feed me!” and a pout. I was about to say no when he jut his bottom lip out and his eyes started to miraculously glisten like in cartoons.
I sighed in defeat and spooned up some soup and lifted it to his lips. He stuck his tongue out at Steve in some sort of victory before lapping up the soup. For a while, it was quiet except for the occasional slurp from either boys which made them both laugh and me, smile.
“Babe, I’m sleepy now.” Steve said after setting down his bowl and tucking himself under Bucky’s arm.
Bucky wrapped his arm around Steve, pulled his face close and planted a kiss on his puckered lips. I nudged them to rest their head on the pillows and pulled the blankets over them. As I got up to go, Bucky’s arm wrapped around my hand and pulled.
“Cuddle us doll.” He said while the both of them sported a pout. “I’ll get rid of these dishes and be right back bub.” I said while turning to leave again.
“Do them later. Please?” he said while Steve whined some more. I sighed and nodded while getting into bed.
“In the middle doll.” Steve said and lifted me off Bucky and in the middle of the both of them.
While I lay on my back, Bucky nestled his face in between my breasts and wrapped his arms around me. Steve laid his head just below Bucky’s; on my stomach and wrapped his arm around my thigh and the other around both me and Bucky. One of my hands rested in Bucky’s hair and across Steve’s shoulders. I pulled them closer into me if that was even possible. Both of them sighed and Bucky started to place kisses on the top of my breasts.
“Thanks for taking care of us doll. We know we can be a handful.” Steve said as he stroked the inside of my thighs.
“I'm dating two 100-year-old babies but I love you both and I love taking care of you. Now get some sleep and maybe when we wake up, I’ll think about following through on your earlier proposition.” I said with a smirk.
Bucky’s head shot up along with Steve’s and with a hopeful voice, he asked “Sex?” I laughed and nodded.
Bucky lightly nudged Steve’s head to rest in it’s previous place while begging him to sleep. Steve was about to protest when I shut him up with a kiss. Without saying a word, he drifted. Bucky smiled and kissed my cheek with a giddy grin. I wouldn’t change this for the world.

Part 23
Request: Yes or No
Tfatws and WandaVision are finna take place around the same time cause I said so
~
"I have baggage, not as much as Bucky but.." You stared at Sam, a small hum leaving you.
"So that makes you the better choice?" You tilted your head. Sam chuckled, licking his lips as his head tilted up. He let out a sigh before shrugging.
"Yeah, it kind of does." Sam grinned. You rolled your eyes, chuckling softly. You patted his chest, shaking your head and stepping aside.
"Guess I'll have to think about it." You said, walking away from him.
"Think long and hard about it!" Sam called as you entered the facility. You walked towards your room, entering and noticing flowers on the nightstand. You walked towards it, picking up the note.
'Meet me on the roof at 9 -Bucky'
You smiled softly, smelling the flowers as you sat on the bed. You sighed, placing the note down. Sam and Bucky were both great guys and you cared about both of them. You didn't want to pick between them. You sighed softly, putting the flowers in a vase. You checked the time, taking a quick shower before changing and headed up to the roof. You smiled, seeing Bucky on the roof, staring up at the sky.
"Hey, Ocean Eyes." You greeted, approaching him and taking a seat beside him. Bucky smiled, turning to look at you.
"Hey, tiger." He gently bumped his shoulder with yours. He offered you a box of chocolates, giving a small grin.
"Flowers and chocolates? You really know the way to someones heart." You smiled, opening the box and picking up one of the chocolates.
"Back when we were younger, Steve and I would lay back and look at the stars while listening to some tunes." Bucky said softly, looking up at the sky. You chewed on the chocolate, humming.
"Do you know all the constellations?"
"Only a few.. You?"
"None of them." You giggled, laying back and staring up at the sky. Bucky chuckled, laying down beside you.
"I do like the thought of stars being the souls of people but uh, Carol and the space crew clearly broke that nice dream." You glanced at Bucky. He laughed softly.
"That's sweet. How'd you come up with that?"
"Disney." You replied, scanning the stars from a constellation.
"In Lion King, Mufasa said that the stars were pass kings and in The Princess and The Frog, Ray joins Evangeline when he passes." You giggled softly.
"Princess and The Frog?" Bucky repeated, brows furrowed. You blinked, sitting up and staring down at him.
"Excuse me, you don't know about Tiana and Naveen? The shadow man?" You asked in shock and slight offense. Bucky chuckled, shaking his head.
"Oh my god, you're missing the fuck out. It's a great movie. We need to watch it together." You smiled widely.
"Add it to the list of things we have to watch together." Bucky said, gently taking your hand and lacing your fingers with his.
~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, Wanda. It's (Y/N)... Again. We haven't spoken in a few months. I don't want to bother you too much but I'm worried. Just.. Just send a message saying you're okay." You sighed softly, hanging up after finishing the voicemail. You sighed, getting out of the car and entering the apartment building. You went up the stairs and walked towards your apartment, unlocking the door and entering.
"Babe?" You called, closing the door behind you. You looked up, seeing Bucky with a new haircut. You blinked, brows raising.
"What do you think?" Bucky asked, staring at you nervously. You smiled, placing your keys down and leaning in, pecking his lips.
"I like it." You felt him wrap his arms around you.
"How's the family?" Bucky asked, tilting his head.
"They're good. Laura wants you to join us for dinner again." You smiled, head resting against his chest. Bucky hummed, metal hand gently running over your back.
"Did you sleep well without me?" You asked gently, hearing a soft sigh.
"I had another nightmare." He muttered. You pulled back, looking his features over. You rested a hand on his cheek, frowning.
"I'm sorry, Buck." You leaned in, pecking his nose. Bucky shook his head, smiling at you.
"You're here.. You help keep them away." Bucky said softly. You smiled pressing a kiss to his cheek. You stepped away from him, checking the fridge and sighing at the chinese leftovers.
"I'm gone for a few days and you empty the fridge." Bucky chuckled at your words, turning on the tv. He flipped through the channels before stopping at one playing a movie he liked. You warmed up the leftovers before grabbing two forks and walking over to him. You took a seat beside him, leaning into his side. He wrapped an arm around you.
"I missed you." He said softly. You smiled, raising some of the rice to his lips. Bucky opened his mouth, happily eating.
"Wanda hasn't responded. I'm getting worried." You told him softly. Bucky frowned, placing a gentle hand on the back of your head.
"She never does this. She usually calls whenever she needs me but.." You sighed softly. Bucky kissed your temple.
"Didn't you have a therapy session today? How'd it go?" You asked, tilting your head. Bucky shrugged.
"Same as usual." He muttered. You chuckled softly.
"Buck, if you really don't like her, we can find someone else for you." You reminded him, pulling out your phone when it vibrated. You furrowed your brows at the unknown number, handing Bucky the plate. You answered, placing the phone to your ear.
"Hello?"
"Hey, is this (Y/N) Barton?" You didn't recognize the voice.
"Who's speaking?" You asked, glancing at a curious Bucky.
"Monica Rambeau from S.H.I.E.L.D, I was wondering if we could talk about Wanda Maximoff. I know Hayward tried getting in contact with you-"
"Hayward never got in contact with me." You interrupted with a frown.
"Oh.. Uhm, would you mind coming down to WestView, New Jeresy? We have.. A problem with Wanda." Monica said softly.
"Uhm.. What type of problem? Is she okay?"
"Yes, she's fine but.. You might want to come see this for yourself.. You're able to." Monica said. You glanced at your boyfriend, sighing softly.
"I've got to go but I'll send you the directions if you're able to come." Monica said before hanging up. You put your phone down, sighing softly.
"You have to go again?" Bucky asked softly. You frowned, leaning in and kissing his cheek.
"I don't know, Buck. Last time I met with Hayward... I just wanted to murder him." You stood up, arms crossing.
"If it's about Wanda, you should go. I'll be fine, I promise." Bucky stood as well, gently wrapping his arms around you.
"I don't want to leave you alone again." You frowned, staring at him. Bucky pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead.
"Tiger, you've been stressing about Wanda for months now. You have something. Follow it." Bucky gave you a reassuring look.
"Call me if you need anything, okay?" You pecked his nose. Bucky nodded with a gentle smile. You grabbed your jacket and keys, leaving the apartment. You greeted Yori as you passed him, heading down the stairs and to your car. You entered, glad Tony had given you a car before he passed.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y, could you set course for the directions Monica sent me?"
"Course set." You hummed softly as the car began moving by itself. You buckled in, grabbing the steering wheel and taking control of the car. A million thoughts raced through your mind as you drove out of the city. You licked your lips, sighing softly.
"What the hell kind of trouble did Wanda get herself into?" You asked yourself, frowning.
"Uh, (Y/N), you might want to see this." F.R.I.D.A.Y called in a concerned voice. You frowned.
"What's up?" You asked. F.R.I.D.A.Y made footage of the news appear on the windshield.
"The wake of recent events have left us vulnerable. Everyday, Americans feel it. While we love the heroes who put their lives on the line to defend Earth, we also need a hero to defend this country. We need a real person who embodies Americas' greatest values. We need someone to inspire us again. So, on behalf of the Department of Defense, and our commander in chief, it is with great honour that we announce today that the United States of America has a new hero. Join me in welcoming your new Captain America!"
"You've got to be shitting me."
He was always in charge, always in control, that’s how he liked it. After so many years of being Hydra’s puppet he needed to feel in charge.
You had been dating for a year now, he trusted you - which was huge. He’d only relied on Sam and Torres before you came along. You were on a mission and saved his life, the big bad Winter Soldier looked at you in awe as you took down the three men that surrounded him. You winked at him and ran off to find Torres to make sure he was ok.
That night was the first night he spoke to you outside of missions and briefings. You sat on the sofa with a big bowl of popcorn watching reality tv, the best way to unwind, when he brought you a glass of wine and sat down next to you. You smiled at him, slightly in shock, and thanked him, taking a big drink and passing him your popcorn.
That’s how it all began, you were inseparable and it only took him a few more weeks for him to ask you out. You hadn’t wanted to push him, he’d opened up to you about how his life felt so chaotic and he was trying to get a grip on where he fit in now so you kept it simple around him. Movie nights, helping him build an island on Animal Crossing, teaching him how to cook, showing him how to use new technology amongst other things.
There were some small things you noticed as you got to know each other better, he liked it when you decided where you would eat that night or who’s room you would sleep in and you often wondered if he just wanted to be looked after but didn’t want to ask. You started laying out clothes you thought he might like and running him baths with the bath bombs he’d never admit he liked.
He was always attentive to your needs in bed, sometimes just wanting to get you off then cuddle after but you wanted him to feel good too. You decided to surprise him and booked a cabin away from everything and planned a weekend away just the two of you. Packing the new lingerie Monica had helped you choose, a black baby doll, you were impatient to get there as you drove to the middle of the woods.
He disappeared for an hour to check out the surroundings and gather wood for the fire before returning and relaxing with you. You ate and talked, noticing how he dropped his shoulders and unclenched his jaw, he was finally relaxed and you had him exactly where you wanted him.
Grabbing his hand and leading him to the bedroom, you slowly stripped him down to his underwear and lay him on his stomach. Straddling him, you rubbed his back firmly and worked out his knots, smiling at the groans he made. You light some candles and kiss his shoulders, whispering that you’ll be right back before slipping into the bathroom and changing into the lingerie and quickly dabbing some of the perfume he bought you on your wrists.
As you walk back into the room he sits up and watches you approach him, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallows. His eyes roam your body and he exhales loudly. “Fuck doll, you look amazing.” You smile at him and straddle his thighs, kissing down his neck and across his collarbone.
Sitting back and smiling at his lust blown eyes. “Do you trust me?”. He nods at you and kisses you, cradling your head with one hand while the other rubs circles on your hips. “Let me look after you,” you say between kisses, he stares at you and you can see the hesitance in his eyes, taking a moment before he nods and kisses your lips whispering, “I trust you”.
You grab his hands and place them on the headboard, kissing over his body wherever you can and quietly saying in his ear “leave your hands there for me baby, tell me stop whenever you want”. He nods and kisses you deeply, his tongue urgently pushing into your mouth as he grips the headboard, the wood protesting under his grip. You push him back gently and kiss the tip of his nose “remember to keep your hands in place, use your words”.
You kiss over his jaw and neck, moving lower and focusing on the skin around his metal arm, kissing and licking over the scars, giving him words of praise and watching his face for any uncomfort. Looking at him as he silently begs you to keep going, you move slowly down his chest, tracing the lines of muscle with your tongue. You watch as his arms flex but he holds on. “Good boy, keep them up there, remember to use your words”. You kiss the line on his abdomen that leads to the prettiest cock you think you’ll ever see, kissing the tip and licking up the precum already leaking out. You check in on him and smirk at the needy look on this face, kissing lower and lower, running your tongue over his puckered hole before licking all the way back up and taking him deep in your mouth.
You hollow your cheeks as you move your head up and down, your tongue licking at what it can reach? as you move. The moans and groans you hear above you make you throb, you rub your fingers through your wetness before bringing them up to his mouth, watching as he greedily licks and sucks on your fingers. Your head sinks back down, finishing him off, tugging gently on his balls as he cums down your throat, you crawl back up him and kiss him, letting him taste himself on your tongue.
Running your fingers over his tense arms, you slowly pry his fingers off the headboard, impressed at the indents he left in the wood. Softly kissing him, you begin to rub yourself on his thigh, moaning in his ear. “You like it when I take care of you?” He nods and grips your hips firmly in his hands.
Kissing and nibbling his neck, you rub circles on his shoulders, feeling him relax again as you continue rubbing yourself back and forth. “I think it’s my turn now.” You grip his jaw in your fingers and tilt his chin up, looking deep in his eyes. “Get to work, soldier.” He smirks at you, flipping you over and kissing down your body, you moan and grip his hair, keeping him in place as he devours you.
Oh this was going to be so much fun.
“It’s good to see you again.”.
Monica who is sitting on a chair inside a big tent turns her head into the direction of the voice. A relieved smile emerges on her lips at the sight of Jimmy Woo. “It’s good to see you too.”, she responds and a comfortable stillness falls upon the room. One that is only interrupted by Jimmy being pushed to the side.
“Y/N!”, Sam Wilson says loudly as he looks around the tent in distress. But when he cannot spot the mutant, he let’s out a sigh and looks down at the kid strapped to his chest. One, that is clearly enjoying the fuss the tall man creates. “Could you maybe not run like that?”, another male voice lets out, and a second later Bucky Barnes walks in. He rolls his eyes at him:“I am telling you, you will eventually trip and fall onto the child.”.
“How can I help you?”, Woo asks as an awkward smile appears on his lips. “I wouldn’t fall on-.”, Sam hisses at Bucky before he quickly turns to the agent:” Yeah. Hi. We’re looking for a Y/N Y/L/N.”.
Monica, who is mumbling something into her nurse's ear gets up from her spot on the bench:” Come with me.”, she announces to the two men and softly pinches Dorothy’s cheeks, making her giggle in the process:” I’ll take you to them.”.
She steps past the two super-heroes out of the tent. Bucky, who leans closer to Sam furrows his forehead:” Did she just say ‘them’?”.
Outside multiple agents are hurrying from one tent to the next, while big black automobiles are navigating around the field. What happened in Westview is still very present on everybody’s minds, and everyone is preparing themselves for whatever aftermath they will have to face.
“This way.”, the brunette woman explains as she walks past two dark green tents towards one that is located a bit further away from the rest.
She softly and gradually opens the entrance:” Maybe she’s sleeping.”.
But inside it’s just as hectic as outside, nurses are walking from one side to the other. The sound of pens writing on paper is filling the air. “Y/N?”, Monica asks into the crowd, and the nurses all turn at the sound of her voice.
“Could we get some alone time, please?”.
They nod, and one by one they all leave the tent. Bucky’s eyes widen as he looks past Sam towards the hospital bed:” Who is he?”. “I don’t know.”, Sam answers, as he looks from the silver-haired man down to Dorothy, he pauses for a moment before whispering:” Do you think what I am thinking?”. The super soldier sighs:” Would explain her hair color.”.
“Monica!”. Y/N says, a warm smile on her lips:” I’m glad to see that you’re okay. I-.”. She immediately stops when her eyes fall on her daughter. Tears appear in her eyes as she softly grabs Peter's hand. “It’s your turn.”, Bucky announces and nudges his friend into the side. “Oh, Yeah. Right. Here we go.”.
The mutant chuckles as she takes her daughter into her lap:” You do understand that she’s almost 3 years old, she can walk flawlessly by now. You don’t have to keep her in-”. She makes a hand gesture pointing at his chest:”Whatever this is.”.
Sam chuckles awkwardly at her before he walks back to Bucky. “Wait, guys.”, Y/N lets out, and they both turn around once more. “Thank you two…so, so much.”. “Always.”.
“Who is that?”, Dorothy quietly asks, as she glances up at Peter with her big round eyes. The older mutant meanwhile bites on his lower lip to suppress the tears from falling. “That is Peter, he’s your father.”. Dorothy eyes Y/N for a moment before a tiny smile arises on her lips. “You can call him Daddy, if you like to.”, Y/N adds, and Dorothy turns to face Peter. “Daddy.”, she repeats a couple of times and Peter nods his head. “Yes, I’m your daddy.”. He laughs, with tears in his eyes as she points at his hair. “I’ve got that too.”. “Yes, you do.”.
“So, what are we going to do with them?”, Monica asks after a while, without tearing her eyes from the reunited little family . Jimmy quickly clears his throat and wipes a few tears away before he faces her. “Are you crying?”, Monica asks in disbelief and wrinkles her eyebrows at him.
Jimmy looks back at his friend with a perplexed expression: “I mean...”, he points at the event in front of him:” Come on, this is- nevertheless, I thought we could maybe find them a home in Westview. Put them under security protection services. Just for a bit. Until we figure out how to get them all home.”.
Monica nods and smiles:” Yeah, that might be a decent idea.”.
with you ; steve rogers
warnings: fluff + swearing, mentions of panic attack and some old memories of harrasments (touches)
Pairings: steve rogers x reader
request on wattpad <3
----------
"Good morning!" Your favorite voice spoke and you turned to greet it with a huge smile on your face. It was Steve's voice.
"Good Morning Steve, how are you?" you asked as he wraps you in a warm hug which you wanted it to last forever.
"i'm great by the way, and you look gorgeous by the way!" He says and you blush, and he smiles back at you, you and him are way too stubborn to accept the fact that both of you are in love with each other.
"and you look good too, like always." You said and now it was his time to blush, you chuckled and he laughed hugging you again.
"and if you both don't kiss then i'm gonna die!!!" Tony annoyingly says looking at both of you, which results in you both pulling away and looking at him.
"what're you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be at work, when i asked you for the run?" Steve asked and Tony looks like he's been caught, which he was.
"I'll be back you two, i have some work with Nat, and Steve make sure to give a good lecture to Tony for lying!" You said and he chuckled while Tony rolled his eyes.
"Oh that i will!" He says and you smile at him, as you walk upstairs to the office where Nat called you.
You walked in and looked at Nat, who was annoyed with all the paperwork in front of her, and by that look, you knew she needed coffee, so that's what you did, brought coffee for both of you.
"Good Morning!" You said and she rolled her eyes.
"Bad Morning, Y/n, i hate this!" She said and you handed her the coffee.
"not anymore." You said and she nods
"Right, cuz you got coffee, finally!" She says and you nod. You both get to work for hours, until Steve called you on your phone.
"Sorry, i have to take this, its Steve." You said and she shoots a smirk to you, and you playfully roll your eyes.
"Hey!"
"Hey Y/n, what're you doing?"
"I was just working with Nat, and what about you?"
"Well, i am waiting for you to say Yes, so we both could go and have lunch together, and that would be tacos." He said and you smile
"Alright, we'll have lunch together."
"Come downstairs now! Its your lunch time!" He said and you smiled at how much he took care of you. You when got into work, keep forgetting to eat but he's there for you to always remind you.
"Alright, i'm coming." You said and end the conversation.
"so steve hmm?" Nat says and you roll your eyes.
"We're just friends, Nat." You said and she scoffs
"Oh sure, i'm gonna take that, you blush when you talk to him, Y/n you're so in love!!." Sarcasm evident in that reply.
"Fine i do love him,But he doesn't!" You confessed and looked down.
"we'll talk about that later, y/n, your date is waiting!" She joked
"He's not my date and Alright, see you after lunch." You said and walkwd downstairs.
Just right then, Tony calls Nat.
"What do you want?" Nat answers the call and Tony laughs.
"Y/n and Steve really need to get together, it's important!!"
"Yes okay, and what do you want me to do?"
"I'm throwing a party, push them onto eachother!!"
"I think i can do better than pushing them."
"I know, just do whatever to get them, together!!"
"Okay Tony, see you then."
———
"Hey dan." You picked up the call infront of Steve, and he looked at you with a confused look.
"Hey Y/n, how are you?"
"I'm great, so where have you been, its been so long." You said, a smile over your face as you talked to your old friend.
"everything's fine, i am in New York for a few days, thought of seeing you, but you seem to be busy.."
"Oh no, we can meet, i'll tell you when i'm free."
"Right, fine!" He said as you end the conversation.
"Who was it?" Steve asked , while he eats , and you look up to him, a small smile, he never asks who it was when you got a call from anyone.
"what?" He asked and you shook your head.
"Its Daniel, my old friend, you haven't met him."
"I guess so. What did he want?"
"Wants to see me..oh wait, Tony just sent a text." You said as you looked at your phone and he looks at yours.
"Me too!" He reads the text as you do, Tony's throwing a party, he groans and smirks
"oh gosh, he's doing it again!" He says
"Well, seems like he just wants to spend some time being happy, he deserves it though." You said and he nods.
"Right!" He says and you both continue with lunch. An idea popped up, you knew you couldn't see Daniel, in between few days, so you decided to take him to Tony's party with you, and you texted him the address to which he agreed.
-----
finally the day comes, when you see Daniel, after four years, he looks kinda different, but happy.
"Hey!" You said and he hugs you.
"You look so gorgeous!" He compliments you and you blush, your dress was a beautiful, emerald green, satin dress.
"Thank you, and you look great too!" You said and he nods as both of you walked to Tony's Party, Talking about old times when you guys met him, and he tells you how he feels living in Italy, now.
You walk in with him, no one noticed it until you saw Nat.
"Hey" Nat comes in and hugs you and hug her back.
"You look so good today, damn!"
"Thank you so much! You look so pretty too, babe!" You said and she smiled, her eyes, are on Daniel, and back on you, as a question of who's this?
"Oh! Sorry! This is Daniel, my old friend, and Daniel, this is Natasha, my very good and best friend." You introduce them and they shake hands ofcourse.
"Nice to meet you! Steve was waiting for you..thought you might want to see him." she said
"Yes, ofcourse i'll see him in a while." You said and she nods, going next to Tony and whispered him what she just witnessed, and you were in your conversation with Daniel back again.
"We should drink." He says and you nod, before you two go get Drinks, and Steve noticed you, a feeling of jealousy taking over him, and then he looks at you, that smile, that beauty. You're always beautiful to him, but today you look extra beautiful and happy, with someone else. He clenched his jaw, and his friends sitting next to him, Bucky, Sam and Sharon, giggling over his reaction
"Oh damn! Did i just witness Steve Rogers, who is seeing the love of his life with someone else and is jealous ?" Sharon laughs and he shoot her a glare.
"seriously, I don't know how are you my friends, i could do so much better!" He said and they laughed.
"They're just friends, bud." Bucky reassures.
"Yea sure, look at him, he's being so weird with Y/n." Sam says and Steve looks at him.
"What? Y/n never wears shit like that, but with him..cap, I think you should go get her." Sam says.
"Guys chill!!! but steve go get her." Sharon says and he nods, and then he sees how touchy Daniel has become.
"Guys, give me a minute!" He says and leaves towards you.
"Daniel, i-you should leave." You said as he keeps a hand on your waist.
"What if I don't want to leave." He says coming closer, and you push him away, and Steve came towards you.
"Stop it y/n! You know i love you alot, just come here once.." he said
"Stay away! I don't like you at all! Do not touch me without my permission!" You said and he scoffs
"Do you remember prom...when you let him touch you, but not me—"
"Sto-stop!!!" You said and Steve came and looked at you, your eyes filled with tears.. and then takes his way with him.
"Hey! You better walk off, or i have to do it my way!"
"And what is your way?" He asks as Steve pushes him.
"You try to come near her one more time, you'll
Be going home on a wheelchair!"
"And who are you? Is she your whore?" Just then you ran away, and cried while Steve tried to stop you, but Daniel punched him which he stops and kicks him in the stomach, just there he falls on the ground.
"Bucky! Sam! Sharon, take your way with him, I need to go to Y/n." He says and they follow him, and he runs upstairs to you.
You in your room, cries remembering that one day, where your anxiety started.
"Y/n.." his soft voice calls you.
"Steve." You reply and he comes in, and looks at you, your eyes messed with some mascara. He comes and sits next to you, and you wipe your tears.
"hey, look at me.." he says and you look at him, still crying, and he kisses your forehead, a feeling of comfort radiates from him. Your eyes closed as you feel his warmth, which is trying to calm you down.
"shh, don't cry, you wanna tell me what happened?" He says and you nod, and he comes closer to you, and holds your hand, and you look away.
"The same thing happened on Prom , the school's popular kid showed interest in me and tried to touch me, but I pushed him away, t-they all made my fun for not liking it, I spent years recovering from it, and when i could live a normal life, it happened again." You said and burst into tears and Steve hugs you and you bury your head in his shoulder.
"Shh, Y/n, i know, i can understand, i'm so sorry honey, i'm here, I'll protect you I promise." He says and you keep hugging him, and he presses small kisses on your head.
"god! i'm so sorry, that i always bring you up in my matters, i should stop, and let you have some fun." You say pulling away.
"No y/n, i'll always choose to be next to you, I don't like anything, if there isn't you." He says, cupping your face, and you smile, after a long time that night.
"Just never lose this." He says , slightly running his fingers over your lips, which are curled in a smile.
"How about you go take a shower till i set series you might want to watch?"
"Friends?" You asked and he nods with a huge grin.
"alright! I'll be back in 5 minutes."
"Alright! Go relax." He said and you walked to your bathroom. You took a shower, relaxing yourself, but you were already relaxed because Steve made you feel so good.
After a good 5 minutes, you get changed into a baggy shirt along with some leggings.
"You are very punctual." Steve says and you smile, slowly slowly, you two get comfortable on the same couch , you laying on top of him as he strokes your hair.
The scene where Monica tries to propose Chandler is on screen, while you silently watch, a smile over both of your faces.
"You know, they're my favorite!!" You said
"I know, they're mine too!" He says, as you meet his eyes, a small smile over both of your faces.
You cup his face, and he pressed a kiss on your palm, but something told you to go for it, and then you did. You pressed your lips on his.
He was shocked at first, but immediately kissed you back, slowly and softly, and you both felt the sparks, after pulling away you and him pant slowly , and you both of you giggled softly.
"You didn't know i wanted this for so long!" He said, holding you in his arms , and kissing your head
"Me too, i-i love you." You replied and in that moment you saw him so happy, that he kissed you again, and with so much love, you couldn't describe how it felt.
"I love you too!" He said smiling, and just then, you heard bucky, along with Sam and Sharon.
"Hey Steve! That dick is out! How's Y/n?" He asked and he held you in his arms as you answered the question.
"Y/n's fine, now when she got Steve." You said and he pressed a kiss on your forehead.
squeels of excitement were heard, as soon as you said that, from them.
"Does that mean you two are together?! Oh my fucking good! Tony's gonna die!! Let's go guys, its time to spread the news!!" You heard bucky say that and both of you laughed at how much excited they were for you.
Now that you got Steve, by yourside, everything seems so good, you knew that every step which would be hard to take, he'd hold you hand through that, and you would do the same for him. You both got each other, which was all that mattered at the end.
