#when will I learn that even the smartest and most sincere people will sometimes just say shit

Re: that anon who thinks kids are evil
I'm really sorry that anon went through a tough time during childhood (and I did too, being bullied at school and abused at home) but kids aren't fundamentally evil. They're IMPRESSIONABLE. which is incredibly different. They like imitating adults around them, and so when they are surrounded by terrible, mean adults, they act terrible and mean towards themselves & their peers too. It was apparent that anon was surrounded by adults who weren't nice and didn't do their job of educating those kids (including offering anon support), which is really sad.
But regardless of that, kids simply learn from people around them and they can be, and most often are, sweet and nice. and most importantly, even if they aren't sweet or nice, they are deserving of love and compassion and respect and affection, because only with that can we cultivate and nurture the sweet & kind side in their soul.
I feel like if anon felt alienated for being different, they should especially beware of such generalizing rhetoric of "all kids are [insert adjective]" because that's the exact kind of speech that isolates and alienates kids who act different. And I wonder if anon realizes that it was their abuser's language that's coming out of their mouth.
(source: im an educator and ive never known a kid who's not sweet and lovable to me)
(cont'd) also, kind of unrelated but it made me think of this absolutely heartbreaking, sweet kid that I met on Tuesday during a visit to a kindergarten. I was supposed to go to different kindergartens to evaluate their teaching and give consultations, and a part of what I need to do is this one-on-one language assessment with the kids (age five and their mother tongue isn't english). So there was this girl, whose first words after sitting down was "I don't know any English." And I was like haha it's alright! Let's just try and see how much you know, then we can see where you can practice more on! And she went "okay >_<" (rather earnestly, like she didn't say she doesn't know shit because she didn't want to try) So we did a task, and she scored above average so I was like "You did really well! Why did you say you don't know anything?" and she went "But I still got two wrong :(" which was like, wtf girl who fucked up your self-esteem?? Kindergarten aged kids should feel like they're the coolest smartest shit in the world!! Like I was already ready to fight for her at this point okay Anyways I said "it's alright, now you know where you can work on!" and did another task with her, which she also did pretty well in So I tried to tell her some cliche encouragement like "sometimes we feel like we don't know anything because we feel scared, but when we be brave and try things out, usually we know a lot more than we thought we could! Just like you right now, look at how well you did! So please believe in yourself more" And this little girl deadass looked me in the eye and told me, very sincerely, "because mommy doesn't believe in herself, so I don't believe in myself either :(" I controlled my face, but internally my jaw was on the fking floor and I was screaming crying pulling my hair out. I was so HEARTBROKEN. Like I need to talk to that woman coz what did you do to your kid?? What did you project on her?? And this kid is so smart?? She is so self-aware like she is able observe her mother's emotions & understand her mentality and THEN recognize how her mother's mentality shapes her own?? Honestly, I don't think the majority of people at my age right noweven realize how others' mentality relate to their own. And she is able to articulate all that! Which just makes her statement extra sad, because she is so so smart and observant but she believes she doesn't know anything and that she is bad at school, which is fucking WRONG And I was just so fking devastated!! I want to hug her I want to adopt her I want to fix everything for her but I don't know how I could ever do that. I am not even her teacher, I'm just a nobody who comes once a month for some dumb observations and just, I don't have the ability to do anything significant enough. I tried my best to smile and said "oh no... but you said you think mommy is smart right? she just doesn't know that herself! and I think you are also very good, so you need to remember it for me okay?" and she was like ok >< Then I went home and cried for an hour cause I just feel so... powerless and like what am I doing?? What can I even do to change things for her and kids like her?? When and how will I ever be enough to make her feel happy and brilliant and innocent and no need to act so mature??? Kids are my soft spot and I don't think I will ever cease to feel heartbroken for them. They are so precious and trusting and loving yet so many adults just... betray that trust and abuse that love. And it is so easy to break them but so hard to build them back up, which is simply unfair. Anyways sorry for the venting (sort of) I just want to pour these out because I love kids so much and I want to hug them all and they are so precious and lovable and incredible. I guess my point is just please love and be kind to the kids you know and encounter cause you don't want to fuck them up and not to mention how could you feel anything but adoration when you interact with them
oh my God..................please don't apologize, I'm so, so grateful you took the time to write and share this because I could not agree with you more. I think people really don't seem to understand the depth to which children understand and interpret and process things and it is truly one of the most illuminating and profoundly humbing things to witness and be part of. For what it's worth I think your presence and your conversation absolutely meant something to that little girl and I believe it makes a difference to have validation like that, even just for a day 💗 The kids you work with are very lucky to have someone who cares so deeply about their wellbeing and, heartbreaking as I know it can be, I hope you don't forget that 💗

at times when I hit my lows the routine I've built over the past few years since been diagnosed with bd is the hardest and the most tiresome thing, but strangely it is my anchor too. when I'm in my lows being a sad depressed crybaby wanting to hide from the world and everyone in it I try to clutch tightly at this daily routine as it helps me to stay afloat the most.
little things - doing chores, hot yoga, english, some writing, watching tv series, taking walks, etc., they don't let me lose my grip and hope for the better. in those little things I find strength to cope with the dark silhouette (a projection of my low phase) sitting across me at the table while tightening the reins and contemplating a way to shatter my will to keep fighting for good. I would lie if I were to say that it is easy to hold onto this routine and after a few days the silhouette magically gives in and disappears.
nope.
never.
sticking up to something so trivial is like carrying a bunch of stones - I have to get over myself and just do it, at least try to do it to the extend that seems doable so I wouldn't hurt myself even more that I tend to do quite often.
no matter how often I encounter the black silhouette or how long those encounters last, it never gets easier and I can never get used to the feeling of complete endless lingering emptiness, devastation, hopelessness, numbness... really after all this time I'm still unable to come up with the right (?) definition of that sickening feeling.
I hate the most how that feeling makes me afraid of opening up and being honest with the people I love dearly and doubt if they even want me or need me. when I'm depressed I am the most vulnerable and the most insufferable, 'cause I'm dying for attention and being cared for, but I feel so pathetic and insignificant that isolation and keeping my mouth shut seem to be the smartest decision ever, 'cause this way I am no anyone's trouble, but mine. besides, there are sooo many people whose suffering is way worse (it's a stupid thought I know, 'cause everyone's suffering is important, but I just cannot fully get rid of it).
I am okay with hurting, but I am not okay with the people I love to be hurt. I know that in a way I strip them off their right to choose for themselves. still it's better that way. I've long learned how to keep it all inside. sometimes it shows - usually when it is just too much to bear, but mostly I just put up with it going through my day as if nothing is out of ordinary.
the routine.
again.
being depressed is a nuance and sometimes it gets contagious. I don't like to be a nuance and I surely don't want to be a "deadly" infection bringing my loved once sadness and discomfort.
it is unhealthy, but at least I have smth to cling to like a baby clinging to their parents or toys I cling to my usual routine.
I am trying to speak up. I've already picked up the skill of notifying my friends that I'm falling deep down again. it's some kind of progress, right?
I mean I am posting this little confession of mine (more like venting out) here when everyone can see it and really it is the most sincere thing I've done in a while.

Friday evening
Tumblr media
Image adapted from here.
Pairing: Taeyong x Reader Genre: smut, pwp, romance, established relationship Warnings: 18+, oral (male receiving), protected sex, reader is a slight party girl with a bit of an innocence kink, riding, swallowing. Taeyong is sad because he’s been put on a break with an injured back and somehow seeing him this vulnerable is turning you on. Word Count: 4739
Summary: Taeyong has always, always put your pleasure first. It’s not that he does it out of learned, respectful responsibility; it’s because he needs to put your pleasure first or he would go crazy. So the poor boy doesn’t know what to do with himself now that he’s out of commission with an injured back and you’re the one that’s, erm, taking care of him.
A/N: Basically just pure filth and also my first attempt at smut. I also don’t have a proofreader, so pardon my oversights. Here goes nothing.
Tumblr media
To say that your Friday evenings have changed a lot over the years would be an understatement. When you were younger, all you wanted to do at the end of a tough week was to get out and drink to your heart’s content. You’d stay out all night, sometimes even passing out in places that were most definitely not home. You had staked your claim in every club the city had to offer; you had never met a drink you didn’t like; there had never been a party you weren’t invited to.
So the fact that you were here now--splayed out over your couch with your boyfriend draped over you, his head resting on your belly while you lazily watched Netflix--was quite frankly absurd. If your other friends saw you here, choosing to stay in on a Friday night, they would think you were going through some kind of crisis. But you weren’t going through a crisis. You were just in love.
You were in love with a boy who was so incredibly, sweetly, and disgustingly domestic, you had no choice but to be soft for him. It came as a surprise to you at first--the fact that he was as domestic as he was. When you had first met him and found out who he was, you were convinced that he had to be, quite frankly, the fuckboy type. Taeyong was incredibly handsome, for starters, but also people would tell him he was handsome, and he got told this multiple times a day. Add to that the nature of his job, and girls, boys and everyone in between would throw themselves at him. You had met him through work while he had his idol and leader persona on. He was intense, he was charismatic, he worked the room like he owned it. So of course, you had thought, he had to be a fuckboy. It’s what made you approach him in the first place.
But on your first date, he cooked for you, couldn’t meet your eyes the entire time, and blushed and giggled every time you complimented his food; and all your assumptions were put to rest. You soon discovered that the poor boy didn’t know much outside of his work. The confidence, the charisma, the strength in his posture--it was all for the cameras. When the lights were off, you found that he was completely the opposite. What threw you off most of all was how sweet he was and how incredibly pure he was. He had had girlfriends before, that much he admitted, yet you had a way of knowing that he was way more innocent than he led on.
You didn’t think you were the kind that would be into that sort of thing--the pure, good boy types. But you found yourself drawn to him and it surprised you. You were so used to flings with fuckboys where the both of you knew you were in it for a good time, not a long time. Maybe a part of you finally wanted the long time though you didn’t know it yet.
So when Taeyong had taken your hand one day and asked you to be his girlfriend, you had found yourself at a loss for words. He had looked at you with such hopeful sincerity in his doe eyes that it had almost frightened you. No one had ever looked at you like that. You had never been anyone’s girlfriend before. So you had answered “I guess...?” which was perhaps not the smartest response, but now you were glad you’d been dumb. Because it led you here, almost a year later with the boy you loved cuddling into your belly on the couch.
The two of you had been laying like this all afternoon and had gone through too many episodes of Money Heist without moving. But moments like these were so rare with Taeyong’s schedule and your own work that you dare not move an inch. You kept hugging onto the empty popcorn bowl while Taeyong lazily rubbed his hands up and down your sides, his cheek pressing into your tummy, his head almost buried under his favorite black blanket while he looked at the screen. When yet another episode ends, you reach over to stroke his hair “Aren’t you hungry?” you ask.
He shakes his head as he yawns “Nope. Are you? I could cook you something.” He says, lifting his head up to look at you.
“But you’re hurt. I don’t want you to move.” You retort, rubbing the back of his neck. Your poor boyfriend had quite literally worked his back off till it physically gave up. He worked even when it hurt, he worked even when he limped. When he couldn’t move at all, is when he allowed himself a break. That’s what your first fight had been about--you yelling at him that he needs to take it easy and him telling you that you just don’t understand. You had ever since reminded yourself to be more patient with him. Taeyong, you found, was a fixer. He always felt like he needed to be there for his team, for his family, for you, so much so that he would run himself down no matter what it did to him. So the fact that he was here now, forced to take a break, was eating him up from the inside. You could tell.
“I’m tired of staying still.” He whines, buying his face into your tummy. It makes you chuckle and you hold his head closer.
“My poor baby.” You say and suddenly, the urge to take care of him overwhelms you. You look down at him as he hugs your middle, his usually wide shoulders curving in to make him seem smaller. He looked so helpless, so vulnerable and so broken, and that image made heat build in your core. ‘Fuck, I am going to hell.’ you thought as you felt the throb between your legs. It was fucked up, the fact that your boyfriend being helpless and hurt was suddenly turning you on. You start to wonder what was wrong with you. Why did his purity, his good heart, his innocence, and right now, his vulnerability stir something so carnal in you? You were going to hell for sure.
‘He’s hurt, he’s hurt, he’s hurt.’ You tell yourself over and over like a mantra to stop yourself from having sinful, unvirtuous thoughts about him, but you must have been tugging the hair on the back of his head a bit too tight because he suddenly looks up at you. Like he could feel the air shift. He holds your gaze as he gently pushes the hem of your shirt up, just enough to reveal a sliver of belly and lands a tender kiss on the exposed skin. His big, warm hands delicately reach into your sides under your shirt and he bows his head and kisses your skin like worship. You look down at him with wonder as you hold his head like you were guiding him, and he was all too eager to be led. This boy had always been a giver. He knew right away that you wanted him and his first instinct had been to take care of you. You allow yourself to be venerated by his lips like that for a moment, melting back into the cushions as his kisses leave a trail till he licks a stripe just below your navel, drawing a moan out of you, somehow bringing you back to your senses. Only a little.
“Taeyong, you’re hurt.” you remind him, but it’s a weak reminder. You’re saying it just to say it because your body is brazen. He must have felt the insincerity in your tone because he doesn’t stop. His long, dexterous fingers move to the fly of your jeans, unbuttoning them and landing a kiss right on your pubic bone, over the thin fabric of your underwear. You inhale as you feel goosebumps prickling your skin from pleasure and for a moment, you think it’s okay to be this selfish. It’s okay to have your pure, guileless, obliging boyfriend worship your body even though he was hurt because the things he was doing to you… it would be more wrong of you to stop this reverence of unbounded desire. You were going to hell anyway, might as well be with an angel between your legs.
But Taeyong hooks his index finger in the band of your underwear and pulls it down, lifting himself up to place another kiss when you hear him gasp “Ahh!” and it serves as a cruel, literal eye opener. Because your eyes actually snap open and the haze of sinful bliss surrounding you dissipates and you realize just how selfish you’re being.
“Taeyong!” You sit up abruptly, watching the grimace on his face. You get off the couch and kneel next to him as he buries his face in the cushions, groaning. “Does it hurt a lot?” You ask, placing a gentle hand to his back, not daring to apply any amount of pressure. You lean in and press a kiss on his hurt.
Presumably, when the sting has subsided, he looks at you again and says “No, no… it doesn’t hurt… come back here.” He reaches a hand to the back of your head and pulls you in but it’s breaking your heart. You know he wants to make you feel good; he has almost a riotous need to keep you satisfied because that’s what keeps him going, that’s what validates him. The fact that he can’t would eat him up till he spirals and loses his mind. ‘Wouldn’t that be nice.’ The evil part of you thinks as the image of a more vulnerable Taeyong, a more broken Taeyong takes over your mind and you feel the needy heat build even greater under the undone fly of your pants. ‘What the fuck is wrong with you?’ You think to yourself in horror as this salacious, immoral image and what it has done to your core actually puts you to shame. Internally, you’re burying your face in your hands just like Taeyong was burying his face in the cushions.
You take a deep breath to steady yourself. For once, you had to put a leash on your libido. Your boyfriend was hurt and you needed to be a good girlfriend. “We can do this when you’re better.” You say, rubbing your palm on his back, then stroking his head.
“But I want you now. Don’t you want me?” He asks with such uncertainty and you can tell he’s being the wicked one now because he knows what this tone does to you. Especially when he looks at you with eyes that drip honey. He knows he has you wrapped around his little finger in this moment because he keeps pouting. Taeyong would always have you putty in his beautiful hands and talented tongue. He loved making you feel good, he got off on making you feel good. You had pretty much been living your best life since you met him because you were finally with a man that cared more about your pleasure than his own. So of course, you wanted him. But not like this.
“Come here.” You say to him gently, arranging the pillows around him and helping him flip over on his back so he was much more stable. Taeyong sighs, defeated in his expression, thinking he has lost this battle when you place a hand on his chest and lean over him to kiss him on the lips. You kneel by the side of the couch, hovering over him as he lays, cupping his face in your palms. Soon your fingers find their way to the base of his neck and you’re tugging at his hair again. You roll your tongue against his lips and into his willing mouth, kissing him with desire. He lays obediently as you pull back but looks at you in confusion, like he’s not sure if you’re giving up or giving in. You kiss into the crook of his neck, gently suckling on his sweet skin there and he moans out. You smile because you don’t have to look to know that his cock has twitched in his pants.
You lean over his face, bringing the pad of your thumb to his bottom lip, gently stroking it as you talk “Do you want me?” you ask, your tone low and sultry, wanting to hear his sweet voice before you unleashed yourself on his body. His lips part and he’s panting when he nods his head “I want you.” he sighs in a soft voice. So you get up and carefully place yourself between his legs as he lays, ensuring not to shift the weight on the couch too much that it makes his back uncomfortable. You lift his shirt up just a little bit and kiss the skin of his belly, continuing from where you had left off, except the roles are reversed. But while you were laying back and taking in the sensation, Taeyong is confused; turned on but confused, like he doesn’t know what you’re doing to him.
You meet his befuddled eyes, see him propped up on his elbows to look at you move, almost as if you were doing something perverse, something you weren’t supposed to do. So you give him a wicked smile and undo the button of his fly, just as he had done and press a kiss on top of his boxers. Your hands rub up into his chest “Lay back, sweetie.” You say lovingly as you slowly, teasingly start pulling the band of his boxers down, taking your time with it, putting on a show. Taeyong’s eyes are wide and his belly is pleasurably uneasy. He wasn’t used to this, simply because he never gave you enough time to reciprocate. He liked feeling a strange sense of control that came with the familiarity of being between your legs, giving you enough pleasure that you forgot your own name. He knew that process by heart. But this. This didn’t happen very often, but you were determined tonight, it seemed. He didn’t complain, even if he laid back with a sense of uncertainty because not knowing what would happen was distressing and thrilling at the same time.
You finally pull his boxers down enough to expose his semi-hardness and smile, running your hands down his sides just as he had done to yours, lifting his shirt up a little bit more. You look down at him brazenly, admiring his bare manhood, smiling at him. “My baby is pretty all over.” you say, making him close his eyes, head falling back into the pillows as he suppresses a moan. The image gives you a violent sort of hunger, like you wanted to own him, rail him till he saw stars.
You hold his length, pressing it into his belly with your palm before you finally lower your head and press your lips to his base. You feel him twitch under you at the same time you hear him let out a shaky moan, like he was feeling too much pleasure than he wanted to show.
“Let me hear your sweet voice, baby.” you encourage him and press more kisses to his balls, slowly rubbing circles with your thumb on his sensitive tip. You’ve swept your hair to one side and you hum into the kisses before the need to taste him tastes over. So you part your lips and let your tongue swipe him as you pucker, making him hiss out in pleasure. You gently start sucking then, rolling your tongue over and over, taking your time with it. You were in no rush. The two of you had all night.
You gently start rubbing the underside of his growing length with your palm, almost massaging it, little beads of precum dripping onto his belly. You look up at Taeyong through your lashes and find his head thrown back, eyes closed, Adam’s apple bobbing up and down as he swallows. He looked like an angel. So you start to kiss up his length, on the sensitive underside, little moans escaping your mouth as well and Taeyong can barely breathe. It feels forbidden to him, laying here like this as you pleasure him but he has to admit that it is a sweet form of torture and he wants it as much as he doesn’t.
Your lips finally find his leaking tip. You stop, just so he’d look at you, giving you a chance to hold his gaze when you kiss it, a sweet, unassuming press of the lips, nothing more. But it has the effect you wanted because it draws a gurgled, almost pained moan out of him.
“Fuck!” he all but yells out. And that’s all you needed to hear before you wrap your lips around it and start sucking. You take your time, swirling your tongue around, tasting his saline lust in your mouth while your hand takes care of the rest of his length, all the way to the base, softly stroking, massaging. It wasn’t often that Taeyong let this go on for this long. Usually, by this time, he would have lifted you to your feet into a kiss before he went back to his insatiable need to put you on pleasure’s end, making love to you like it was the only thing he was born to do. It took him hurting his back to keep him in place like this, and that wicked part of you is almost thankful for it.
Your mouth has picked up the pace, built a rhythm and the deviant sounds of your spit swirling in your mouth around his flesh fill the room. Suddenly, you hold yourself in place, placing your palms carefully on his thighs and relaxing your jaw before you slowly start easing his length into you inch by inch. You hadn’t done this in a while and certainly not with Taeyong, which is why the poor boy has almost sat up in bewilderment, eyes wild as he looks down at your feverish desire for him.
“Oh God, Y/N…” he sounds like he’s underwater, like his breath is caught in his throat and you would have stopped if his hand didn’t go to your hair, holding you in place, telling you otherwise. So you keep going lower, never minding the slobber that drools out of you inelegantly and anoints him. You wanted him inside you like this, all the way in your throat where he’d never been, and you were going to make it happen.
“Fuck, baby, fuck…” he’s whimpering now, moaning like it was too much and you almost take mercy on him. Almost. But you were so close now and you wanted him to be in the deepest parts of you because it was him. It was Taeyong, the boy who took your heart and broke down your walls and taught you what it was like to be loved without condition. You wanted to give him every part of you, good and bad. In this moment, you decide that you will love him with the same fervent worship that he loves you. That you would pleasure him with the same passionate devotion he pleasures you. And that you would stay by his side for as long as he would have you. It was strange, having this epiphany whilst his cock was lodged all the way in your throat.
You come up then, wiping your chin on the back of your hand and move up with the sudden hunger to kiss him. The riot in your chest has changed to something else, perhaps a feral craving, like you needed to hold this boy down and have him and drive him wild so he was whimpering, sobbing, begging for repentance. You needed him to be bare for you in a way he had never been exposed to anyone before.
So you kiss him deep, kiss him like a promise, vowing all you had thought in your head with your lips before he’s even had a chance to say something. He has noticed your energy shift because his arms are around you, holding you to him protectively, even though you dare not put your entire weight on him. You pull back to look at him and he sees such tempestuous emotion on your face that it makes him worry.
“Baby--” he begins but you cut him off.
“--I want you inside of me.” you announce and lean in to kiss him briefly, mostly so he wouldn’t protest or sit up or take over. You pull back and arrange the cushions around him once more, making sure that he is well and truly secure. You reach into the couch and pull out a condom that you always had stashed in there just in case. He looks at you tenderly and combs your hair away from your face with his fingers and you rip the foil open and carefully roll it down his length. When he is nice and wrapped, you bring your hands to the hem of your shirt because you want to give him a full view. He helps you take it off along with your pants and you position yourself on top of him, aligning him to yourself. You lean over to peck him on the lips.
“Tell me if it hurts, okay?” you tell him and he holds your hips, nodding as he helps you sink down onto him. Truth be told, he wouldn’t stop this even if it hurt him because this was Taeyong’s personal heaven. You place your hands on his chest and begin rolling your hips, setting a slow, sensual, torturous rhythm that has Taeyong seeing stars. Soon, your moans and gasps are harmonizing and you think that this is perfect. This is where you belong. You were made for each other. You were born for each other. You wanted him in ways you had never wanted anyone before.
You look at him as you sink down fully, feeling him deep and full and you squeeze around him as you lift back up. You don’t pick up the pace, not yet. You just want to see this boy losing his mind as you stroked him with your wet warmth, squeezing him, building his rapture more than he could bear.
Taeyong’s hiding away, and for a moment you wonder if it is because he’s ashamed of feeling this amount of pleasure. He has one forearm thrown over his eyes and the sounds that escape him are trembling keens, like he’s in pain, like he’s being tortured. Every now and then, his breath hitches in his throat and he trembles all over.
So you move his arm and lean over him, taking his face in your palms and kissing his lips. “Look at me, baby.” you whisper at him and he obliges. You kiss the side of his face, over and over, lovingly, almost chastely but your hips are lewd against his, and he doesn’t know what to think anymore.
“I love you, Taeyong. So much. Did you know that?” You say to him, right in his ear as your hips start to make quick work of his shaft. You have him putty, you can see it and for a while, there is victory in your smile. You have him where you wanted him because he’s barely present anymore. All he can feel is your sinfully sweet warmth holding him prisoner and he’s lightheaded. He feels nothing but euphoria, he smells nothing but your scent clouding his senses, he hears nothing but your moans, ringing in his ears like incantations.
You want him this way, crazed and gone, but the desire to have your name on his pretty lips when you’ve stripped him this bare is strong. So you grab his hair in a stronghold to bring him back, placing your lips close to his. “Say my name, baby.”
“Y/N…” he says in a broken cry and holds your hips as he starts thrusting up into you but you stop him. You know he is close, you know he wants an end to this overstimulation, but you finally have him where he seldom lets you have him. And you want to savour it, have this moment be yours for as long as you wanted.
“Tell me you love me. Tell me you need me.” you know it in your heart but you want to hear it. Hear it when he is most vulnerable. Hear your name from his lips like a prayer when he comes undone. You’re going all out on him now, moving your hips against him like there was no tomorrow.
“Fuckkk, Y/N, I love you! I need you! I need you so much it drives me crazy. I need you, I need you… fuck, baby I’m going to come…” his eyes are closing, the words are coming out of him strained, and you watch victoriously. Like you’ve finally pulled the confession you wanted out of your criminal after sweet, prolonged torture. You make him look at you.
“Ahhh fuck, Y/N…” his yell ends in a croak, and you halt your movements, climbing off of him to take him in your hand, pulling the condom off and pumping him quick while your mouth sucks on the tip, tasting yourself on him. His hips buck into you involuntarily as he holds your hair, saying your name over and over like you wanted, spilling his seed into your willing mouth. He watches with amazement as you swallow everything he gives you, pumping him with your hand fast into your wanton mouth.
He slumps back when he’s done and you’re on top of him, kissing him with your dirty mouth. The poor boy looks too worked out to kiss you back with much presence. So you smile and let him be for a moment so you could clean up. You bring him back a wet towel and a fresh pair of boxers. You begin attending to him, softly cleaning him up and for once in your relationship, he is too spent to protest. He lets you care for him. Usually, he was the one who would do this after sex, but here he lies, too injured, too blissed out, too exhausted. So he lets his girlfriend take care of him and if he were being honest with himself, it felt nice to be looked after like that. It made him feel safe, like deserved the love he was receiving. He lets his eyes droop and drifts off for a moment till he feels your weight behind him, your arms encircling him, holding his wide back to your chest. He feels your swollen lips in the spot at the back of his ear and he hums sleepily.
Maybe you’re in the sweet afterglow of sex but you feel warm and full and whole and loved with your boyfriend in your arms. “I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone or anything.” You tell him softly in his ear and Taeyong melts. He believes the words you tell him, almost like he’s hearing them, really hearing them for the first time. He wants to say so much back but all he can manage is a hum deep in his chest and you feel the reverberation before you hear the sound and it makes you smile.
Maybe when he wakes up, he would tell you how much you meant to him. How thankful he was that you had given him your heart. How you had stuck by him even when his love and passion for you seemed to suffocate you. He finally believed that you wanted to keep him with just as much severity as he wanted you. So he let himself be held as he drifted off in the arms of the woman he loved, wishing that being surrounded in her scent would help him dream of her, too.

Alright, YJ peeps, listen up, because I’m sick and tired of seeing constant criticism lobbed at YJ for making Wally slower than his comic canon version, Barry and Bart. There’s a very good reason to do this—and it’s completely in Wally’s favor.
Let me preface this by saying that I sincerely love Wally’s comics. I am one hundred percent on board that Wally deserves to be recognized for the badass he is. His 90s comics established the most important elements of the Flash today. We wouldn’t have the Speedforce if it weren’t for him! It’s been defining the Flash for decades! He gets the short stick over and over. It only rubs salt in the wound that people believe Barry’s faster when it’s been stated repeatedly that Wally’s the fastest person in the DC universe. (There are few faster ways to piss me off than to say Barry’s a better Flash than Wally.)
But. But. YJ was incredibly clever when they made him slower. Why? Wally has to be more creative than Barry because he’s slower, showing his intelligence and building him up to be a better Flash. Don’t believe me? Take a close look at Bloodlines.
Barry and Impulse figure out how to foil Neutron’s first blast of energy on their own. But it’s Wally who figures out that Neutron’s about to release an even more deadly wave with the help of his goggles, which Barry immediately borrows. Wally hand-made his goggles to compensate for his lack of speed. He wouldn’t have had them if he were as fast as the other two. Nobody would’ve realized how much danger they were in, and everyone would have died.
While comic!Wally is definitely smart, he’s so powerful that as the Flash, he can often solve problems just with sheer power. He doesn’t have to be super clever about it most of the time. In YJ, this is true of both Barry and Bart. They can be clever, but they’re heavily reliant on their powers. YJ!Wally has to compensate for lack of power with intelligence. He diversifies his skillset, using a mixture of science, strategy, and superpowers to solve problems instead of relying on sheer force.
Wally isn’t just slower; he also can’t control his momentum. Barry and Bart can dissipate kinetic energy at will, while he has to find ways to get rid of it. But he turns it to his advantage.
Pay attention to how he fights. You’ll notice he often cannonballs into people and uses acrobatics instead of flat-out running. He can’t bombard someone with a rain of blows the same way, so he dodges and avoids close combat.
There’s a lot more to that, but in a nutshell: Wally’s fighting style is significantly more complex than Barry’s. I’m not saying Barry never uses those skills, but I can’t remember any time we saw him do it. Wally learned to do that on his own, and he figured out how to incorporate other people’s fighting styles into his repertoire. Remember the acrobatics? Who wants to bet he picked that up from Dick?
Which brings me to my next point: Wally works better with the Team not just because he grew up with them, but because he has to cooperate with others to make the best of his skills. Wally can’t just blaze through things. He has to conserve his energy and make the best of his speed. In the Team, they have to piece together where he’ll be the most effective. It forces him to stop and consider what he’s doing and how it’ll impact the overall picture, taming his impulsive behavior.
Think about his attitude in the pilot. He races on ahead, alerting the enemy to their presence and nearly getting himself killed. Over the course of the season, he learns stealth and patience, which we see repeatedly demonstrated in the last few episodes.
Back to Bloodlines for a moment. When Wally, Barry, and Bart initially show up to the disaster scene, Barry runs headlong into the danger. Bart follows him. Wally, however, stops to talk to the police captain and gather information about the situation. Barry and Bart join them afterward. They proceed to speed-talk at each other, coming up with a plan… and then instead of explaining it to Wally, they just tell him to follow their lead.
Barry and Bart were impulsive while he stopped to think. Wally was a better team player: the other two didn’t include him in their planning, thus missing crucial details and potentially putting him in danger.
Their plan works in the short-term. But when they think they’ve solved it, Wally takes a second look, analyzing the situation and double-checking that they’re finished. If they stopped ahead of time and took a moment to consider what was happening, they might’ve noticed the energy problem sooner and come up with a better solution.
Worst of all, Barry rushes in again to pull Neutron out the second time. He only survives because of Bart. Yes, it’s because they’re short on time, but again: this might’ve been prevented sooner if they thought things through.
What does it say that Wally patiently paid attention to detail and was more thoughtful than his experienced mentor?
Yes, some of this is stuff he might have learned with advanced speed. But would he really have to be so thoughtful about how he uses his abilities? Not likely.
Nor would he have incorporated science and gear into his skillset. Among other things, he knows how to make an EMP and recognizes where to apply it in Homefront. Dick’s their tech whiz, but Wally comes up with technological and scientific solutions that he can’t.
But Wally doesn’t only use science and technology in ways his uncle and cousin can’t or won’t. He thinks differently about problems.
In Bloodlines, Barry and Bart assume the coast is clear after they take down Neutron the first time. They only consider things within the vast range of their powers, assuming that covers everything. Wally thinks about what they can’t see. He’s more limited, so he’s learned to take every piece of a situation into account.
Basically: Wally is much more flexible than his faster counterparts. He adapts far better to adverse situations because he’s forced to make small-scale accommodations on a daily basis. Because of that, he’s able to come up with better solutions, work better in a team, and solve problems without his powers.
And may I remind all of you: YJ Wally GAVE HIMSELF HIS POWERS, but his comic version got them without effort! The Speedforce bestowed them on him without his involvement!
People, YJ!Wally is a goddamn genius prodigy. We forget it sometimes because of his early-on immaturity and his jokes, but seriously, Wally’s far and away one of the smartest people in the YJ universe. YJ Wally is a distinctively unique Flash character because of his wit and intelligence!
But guess what? Guess what the real cherry on top is? If they bring Wally back in the fourth season at a full speed, he’ll be the fastest and the wisest Flash. He’ll know how to apply his new powers in ways that the others would never think of. Because he’s spent so much time applying science to his abilities, he’ll know how to use his new powers in sync with it, whereas Bart and Barry won’t think on those levels.
Best of all, Wally’s the best team player. He’ll be incredible with both the original Team and anyone else he has to work with.
Think about it. A full-speed Flash with Wally’s technological brilliance, intelligence, observance, and teamwork skills? He’ll be unstoppable.
So please shut up about how YJ did Wally dirty. It’s a thousand times more interesting to watch him work out how to solve a problem rather than just solve it in a snap with his powers. If anything, YJ improved his character and made him better.

MHA boys react to your Pro Hero father finding out you’re dating them
Heyo! So today I just have something cute and crack-y! I’ve been reading wayyy to much angst as of late! Reader is neutral and I am running out of things to write so send me some requests I do have a few rules but I pretty much write everything! I hope you all enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Amajiki Tamaki x Reader  Bakugou Katsuki x Reader
Your Pro Hero dad finds out your dating (All might and Fat Gum)
Words: 1928
~~~~~~~~~~~~
BAKUGOU KATSUKI
So you are not sure how to explain this situation, really. Of course you knew about your fathers no dating rules and you were, are a great kid who follow his rules. However, the first time you laid eyes on him you were taken. Then when you saw him fight and the way he spoke their was no hope for you. You had fallen head over heels in love with him. So when he asked you out the words ‘no’ and ‘I can't’ were no longer in your vocabulary. So here you were on a date with Bakugou. You two were at all mall just walking around, shopping when you wanted but mainly just enjoying your time together.
“Would you stop looking like that! Just tell me what the hell it is!” Bakugou yelled at you, you blinked at him not really realizing you were staring.
“I… the claw game for the big game has a rabbit in it.” You said with your head down. Bakugou only sighed and drug you over to the game.
“Now I’ll get you the bunny on one condition,... come meet my parents next weekend.” He mumbled completely red.
“You’ve got a deal.” You said with a smile.
“AND I wanna meet yours.” He added starting to play the game you stilled visibly at his words.
“Uh i'm sure you don't, it might be another situation like you had at dinner with the Todoroki’s!” You rushed out to him. He didn't respond but moved the claw toward the ugliest stuffed animal you had ever seen.
“OMG you're such a dramatic man, fine fine.” You huffed at him, he chuckled evilly and a moment later you were holding the huge bunny.
“What would you do without me, huh? I'm perfect for you, y’know. No one else could have done that for you the first try, like I did.” He said as you guys started your walk up again.
“Huh, well personally I think Izuku probably could. You know he has all those limited addition all might figures and plushies, a lot of them come from claw games.” You said nonchalantly knowing it would piss off Bakugou. He stopped talking and grabbed your chin, forcing you to make eye contact with him.
“Your so full of shit, your trying to get a rise out of me but you wont.” He said with an eyebrow raise.
“Is that why you’re twitching?” You asked as you pulled forward some more, your lips almost touching. Before you guys could tease each other any further a voice interrupted you.
“Bakugou?” You both froze as All might’s voice echoed in your ears. You jumped away from Bakugou as he gave you a confused look.
“Yeah?” He said, still glancing at you, not sure what to make of your strange behavior.
“What are you two doing here and what are you doing so close together?” He asked with a smile, you could tell it was fake.
“Oh were on a-” he tried to get out but you cut him off.
“A snack run! Us and the rest of the class are doing a movie night.” You said shakily.
“I didn't know a snack run required such closeness.” He said with an eyebrow raise.
“It doesn't.” Aizawa said. You didn't even notice he was there and now you were screwed. Aizawa had agreed to keep you and Bakugou’s relationship a secret in exchange for coffee every Monday and Wednesday but last Wednesday you forgot. The grin on his face says he is getting even.
“What? were not doing that! I'm not watching a movie with those extras on our date night.” Bakugou pouted at you, your mouth hung open at him. Now did you tell Bakugou All might was your father and he forbid you to date, no, no you didn't; but he is one of the smartest people you know. He is in the top 5 of your class in smarts for god sakes, he should have known you were trying to keep this on the downlow.
“YOUR WHAT!” your father said in his boisterous voice.
“Uhh, well you see um he is… What are you two doing here, huh?” You said trying to change the subject. Aizawa started to chuckle next to your father.
“Y/N I said no boys, no girls, no theys!!! Bakugou is clearly a boy!!” He said, starting to pace around. “Hold on, Aizawa, did you know about this?” He asked, turning toward the teacher who immediately stopped laughing.
“I learned about it very recently and I told them to tell you or I would. Very childish and unheroic.” He said, trying not to bust out laughing.
“Bakugou we should run..” You whispered to him as your father paced around.
“Why didn't you tell me your dad was All might and that we are a secret!!” He whispered yelled to you.
“We can talk about this later but right now babe, we gotta run before he calls Gran Torino.” You said inching away from the scene in front of you. Bakugou did the same as but your world stopped when your eyes met Aizawa’s. He shook his head but mouthed “Coffee Monday” then shut his eyes. With that you and Bakugou were off, ignoring your father who was calling for you.
“Dumbass you know they are going to the same place we are, right?” He said laughing.
“I know but i would rather be shunned in my room than in the public, gotta keep our image up.” You said giving him a thumbs up. You both laughed all the way to the dorms and were still in high spirits when your father came and found you guys lounging in the commons.
 AMAJIKI TAMAKI
Now you and Tamaki relationship is… strange to most people. You were not like Mirio or Nejire, you were more like Tamaki but just not as anxious. No one even knew how you two got together after years of pining but both being too shy to ask each other out. It did happen nonetheless and it was oddly perfect. You both loved to stay in and eat takeout, you would take turns calling the takeout spot, or sometimes even play rock, paper, scissors to decide. Festivals were also a love you guys shared, of course you went early before fireworks when it wasn't too busy. But this, this was by far your favorite. The beach in the middle of the night, you and Tamaki would sometimes sneak out when you both needed a breather in the dead of the night when there was nothing but the two of you, the waves, and the stars.
“Did you bring it?” You asked Tamaki as you walked along the shore.
“Of course I did, do you wanna do it?” He asked fidgeting a little.
“Mhhmm.” You hummed taking the stick from him. You and him found it on your first beach date, it was a stick that Tamaki sterilized, afraid it would give you some sort of disease. You thought for a second before writing in the sand.
“Laugh in the silence, dance in rain, and sing with the birds. There will come a day when all things will change and you’ll be left with only the memories of yesterday, so enjoy them. Sincerely the silent.” He said reading what you wrote in the sand.
“I made it far from the tide so someone will actually see it this time.” You said as you drew heart and butterflies around it.
“Where'd you get it from?” He said as he sat laid down on the sand to watch the stars. You laid down placing your head on his chest.
“My dad, he and I are very different and he learned very early on that when he taught me his ‘life lessons’ in loud ways I didn't get it and that I was pretty timid so I wouldn't learn them through experience. My class was going on a 3 week end of the year vacation to the U.S and I decided I didn't wanna go, I'd never been, my dad couldn't come, I listed every reason why I couldn't and at some point I was just making up random excuses when really I did wanna go. So my dad made me climb this mountain and carried me when I complained it was too much. When we finally got to the top I was so angry that there was just a bunch of snow but then he made me look to my left and there were dozens of flowers peeking through the snow. It was amazing. Then he told me that saying and I was never the same. I went on the trip for a week instead of 3 weeks and I loved it. If I can help someone like us step out of their comfort zone just a little so they can see beautiful flowers and enjoy all that they can, I'll be happy.” You said as your eyes fluttered shut a little.
“We can do it together, step out of our comfort zones, I mean.” He mumbled to you. You hummed at him in agreement.
“PUT YOUR HANDS UP OR I’LL SHOOT!” A loud voice called out to you, you and Tamaki immediately stood up and put your hands up.
“Okay now dance! I'm thinking the Macarena..” The guy trailed off. Tamaki mumbled to himself and turned around putting his hands down, you were about to yell at him but he turned and smiled at you then began to speak.
“What are you doing here, Mr. Fat Gum.” Tamaki said with a sigh. You froze at this and thought about disappearing into the water but it was a cold night you would die. Maybe if you didn't turn around he wouldn't know it was you.
“Well when I got a call saying my kid snuck out the first few times I was cool about it, they never do anything wrong so y’know its good to be a little wild BUT WHEN I HEARD THEY WERE WITH A BOY I CAME TO FIND THEM!! But seeing it’s you i'm a little less worried but when I said find some new people to hang with and expand your horizons I definitely didn't mean my kid who I forbade to date, mind you!” You dad said, grabbing Tamaki by the shoulders and shaking him a little. Your boyfriend looked between the two of you and then began to mutter incoherent things.
“Dad stop you gonna give him a heart attack.” You said trying to get your boyfriend back from your overprotective dad.
“Nahh that would be too kind and too quick.” And with that your boyfriend fainted, your dad laughed and threw him over his shoulders.
“You didn't have to do that.” You said as you both began the walk home.
“What kind of father would I be if I didn't instill fear into the hearts of those who could break your heart beyond repair.” He smiled at you
“You scare him everyday when he works with you!! I’ve heard all the stories from Tamaki, you put him into uncomfortable situations sometimes.” You huffed at him
“Sure but never more than he can handle. ‘Laugh in the silence, dance in rain, and sing with the birds. There will come a day when all things will change and you’ll be left with only the memories of yesterday, so enjoy them.’ He always learns something new or at least gets a kick out of it.” He said as he put his fist out for you to bump. You bump it and smile at him.
“You are still in trouble though.” He said with a laugh, you sighed at his words. Maybe you should have taken your chance in the freezing water.

Coconut Cucumber Cream Cheese Sandwiches
My entry for the R/S Romance Fest! You can find it on ao3 here, my picture promt and the work summary are down below, and the fic is under the cut. Hope you all enjoy!
Tumblr media
The first time Remus Lupin steps onto the Hogwarts Express, it takes every ounce of his willpower not to step right off.
The last time Remus Lupin steps onto the Hogwarts Express, he doesn't ever want to leave.
The train was loud loud loud, his dad’s grip on his shoulder was tight, and the wool sweater he had on was itchy. Being steered towards that scarlet bullet of a train seemed much more daunting in person, less full of wonder and more chock-full of nerves than what he’d imagined.
“Remus, your knapsack,” Lyall said, his grip on Remus’s shoulder almost painful. Remus may be the werewolf, but he could swear his father had claws.
“I’ve got it,” Remus reminded him, yet again. He could tell that Lyall was just as apprehensive about Hogwarts. Sending a werewolf into the middle of a new, highly volatile environment was never going to be the smartest idea, and Dumbledore’s reassurances hadn’t exactly filled either of them with confidence.
His mum was excited beyond reason, prattling on and on about all the new friends he would make, all the new classes he could take, all the new things he would learn. One look into Dumbledore’s twinkling eyes and Hope was trying to see how many of his cardigans would fit into a musty suitcase. But Lyall had almost torn his hair out imagining everything that could go wrong, and Remus sometimes woke up screaming from a dream he could rarely remember, save for the delicious taste of blood filling his mouth and hoards of screaming, faceless children. The two of them were a tad jaded.
As luck would have it, Hope had to take an extra shift at St. Mungos, ever since the Ministry started cutting Lyall’s paychecks. Remus wished his parents had never registered him as a werewolf, had never subjected themselves to the hatred the Wizarding community held towards them through no fault of their own. But they had, so now his mum pulled extra shifts and his dad almost tore through his shirt trying to lead his son through the hordes of parents and children boarding the train.
The Hogwarts Express would only stay for a couple more minutes, so Remus had to stop stalling. He hoisted up his suitcase with a strength he rarely liked showing and tugged his sack higher on his shoulder. “Pa, could you just-” Remus bit out, shrugging his way out of the borderline-painful grasp.
“I’m just checking to make sure you have everything,” Lyall said gruffly.
“This is the fourth time you’ve checked,” Remus complained. “And you keep leading me towards different train entrances. Just let me board.”
Lyall was quiet. Remus then turned to face him with slow steps, trying to muster up a confident expression. He couldn’t imagine he was doing very well, confident expressions weren’t ones that graced his face very often.
“I’ll send a letter as soon as I get there. And every other day after that. I promise.”
“No way in hell we’d be able to afford a letter every other day.”
“I’ll ask some people in my house for paper. Or parchment, or whatever.”
Lyall sighed, running a hand over his face. “It’s not the letters I’m worried about.”
“Yes it is,” Remus said. “I’ll send you a letter before and after each moon. How’s that?”
Lyall’s lips thinned, as if peeved Remus had caught him out. Remus didn’t know why he bothered trying to keep things from him anymore.
Instead of waiting for his father to respond, he took a step backwards. “I have to go, Dad. Train’s about to leave.”
“We’ll miss you,” Lyall said, almost rushed, as if something was forcing him to bite out the words.
“I’ll miss you too.” It was easier, that time, to pull up a smile.
Then Remus turned and slipped among the last stragglers climbing onto the train, their mums waving tearfully after him. Remus looked back once he had climbed the steps, but Lyall had disappeared.
Taking a deep breath Remus headed down the corridor, glancing uneasily at the glass compartment doors. There were children huddled together, smiling at each other nervously. There were groups of students laughing uproariously, sprawled on the seats. There was a compartment where two people were practically on top of each other, attacking the other with their mouths; Remus hurried past that one.
Everywhere he looked, there were people, more than Remus had ever met in his life. They were boxing him in, covering each side of him, Remus started to walk a bit faster, trying to find a compartment to sit in, but none of them were empty. He just wanted one that was empty. The wolf was twitching under his skin, and though he knew it was a good couple of weeks before it would come out to play, he’d rather not deal with the effects of a raging outburst.
Just as he had started to breathe out of his mouth, visualising his mum’s calming voice telling him to take a breath in his mind, there was a loud slam. Snapped out of his reverie, he stared curiously as two students stormed out of a compartment. They were both short, one hook-nosed and greasy-haired, the other green-eyed and freckled. They wore twin expressions of rage on their face though, and Remus shoved himself against the corridor wall as they stomped past him.
Staring after them for a moment, Remus wondered what exactly had happened. He hadn’t heard any raised voices or screaming, so it couldn’t have been a fight. What caused them to leave their compartment?
Then, it hit him. They had left their compartment.
Hurrying towards the direction the two of them had come from, Remus shoved open the glass door. The two of them were gone, so hopefully it would be unoccupied, and Remus could take an even breath for the first time this day —
Only it wasn’t empty. Two raven-haired boys stared at him as he shoved his way inside through the door. Remus froze, staring back at them.
“Er,” He started, though he wasn’t sure where exactly he would take the sentence. Eventually he decided on, “Sorry. I can leave.”
The one with glasses tossed him a smile. It fit on his face beautifully, naturally. “Nah, you’re fine.”
“I mean,” the other said, the one with a rather exquisite brooch pinned to his neatly pressed robes. “As long as you’re not a slimy greaseball like the other bloke, come on in.”
On reflex, Remus’ hands came up to touch self consciously at his hair. Realizing what he had done, he quickly brought them down and flushed, but the second boy had already snorted and raised an eyebrow at him.
“Sorry,” Remus muttered again.
“Don’t apologize for being funny,” Glasses said. “It’s a talent.”
Remus didn’t think anyone had ever told him he was funny.
“I...er, thank you?” It was times like this Remus regretted being such a shut in for most of his life. He thought he had a fair defense against his mum’s constant nudges and unsubtle hints that he should socialize more, given that once a month he turned into a vicious snarling beat hellbent on ripping out the throats of everyone in the near vicinity. His mother had tutted, called him dramatic, and ruffled his hair. Though, those socialization skills would have come in handy right about now, as Remus awkwardly shuffled into an empty seat in the compartment.
Glasses and Brooch stared at him a little longer, and it dawned on him that this was the part of the conversation where he introduced himself. “I’m Remus,” he said hurriedly, as if his phrase had missed the train of conversation at the bus stop and was now rushing to catch up. “Remus Lupin.”
“Nice to meet you, Remus Lupin,” Glasses said. “James Potter.”
“Sirius Black. Pleasure,” said Brooch. Remus blinked at the odd tone. The empty words by themselves seemed almost scathing, purposefully haughty, but it seemed like he was sincere. Just a child trying to make a friend.
Remus decided to take in stride. He figured the two people storming out of the apartment were a bad place to start a conversation, context clues weren’t completely lost on him. So instead, he came out with “So you’re both first years then?”
Sirius raised his eyebrow. “Riveting conversation topic there, Lupin.”
Remus flushed, partly in embarrassment, partly because that slow gesture was exceedingly practiced and Remus wasn’t sure why, but captivating. “I’m not so good with conversation topics,” he said. “Sorry.”
“And now you’re apologizing again!” Sirius said, but he was laughing. His laughter was nice, Sirius decided, and an exchange ending in joyful giggles was a success in his book, so he let his lips quirk up in a little smile.
“Well, since you two are rubbish at talking like normal wizards,” James started, ignoring the offended hey! that came from Sirius, “Let’s discuss the real important thing here.”
“And what might that be?” Sirius drawled.
“The food trolley,” James announced. “We’re near the back of the train, which means it’ll come to us first, which means we have the larger pick of snacks.”
“You know, I’m usually not allowed to eat that sort of stuff,” Sirius said thoughtfully.
“Oh. So you’re not going to get anything?” James seemed to shrink a bit, his infectious grin quieting.
But then Remus took a glance at Sirius, and privately thought that no eleven year old should have a smile that rakish. “Of course I’m going to get something. I don’t see my folks anywhere on this train, and I’m particularly fond of Godfrey’s Gummies. Y’know, the ones that wriggle in your mouth when you eat them.”
“Sounds like a plan, mate,” James said. “I like the pastries.”
“What about you, Lupin?” Sirius asked. “What’s your haul going to be?”
Remus shook his head. “You two enjoy the food trolley. I’m fine.”
“Rubbish,” Sirius sounded incredulous. “If I can blow off my mum and dad, so can you. It’s just a little snack, what’s it going to do?”
And oh, it was hard to say this to someone with a silver brooch pinned on their robes, but hopefully he’d stop asking. “I have to save up my coins.”
There was a beat of silence, then— “We’ll buy some for you then,” James nodded, looking resolute.
Sirius looked at James in surprise, and Remus was about to tell him not to bother himself, but in a second, Sirius adopted the same expression James had on his face. “Why not?”
“You really don’t have to.”
“Bugger off, Remus,” James said. “We’re headed to Hogwarts! Have some sweets!”
Remus paused, took a moment to think through what his mother had always fretted about. Was making friends really this easy? He barely knew James and Sirius, and they were already offering to buy him food from the trolley. Well, if they were willing to do that, maybe having friends was what everyone said it was like. Maybe having friends was worth the trouble of keeping his secret.
The wolf inside him was quiet.
“I like chocolate,” Remus said.
“Brilliant,” James responded. “Chocolate frogs for you, then.”
Suddenly, the compartment door opened with a harsh screech. Expecting the trolley witch, Remus turned to look excitedly at the corridor, and saw James and Sirius doing the same out of the corner of his eye. Only, instead of a plump, round face and a squeaky trolley piled high with sweets, he was met with a plump, round face attached to a short body and a frankly enormous bookbag.
“You’re not the trolley witch,” Sirius said.
“Er, no. But there are snacks in my bookbag?”
“Good enough,” James piped up. “Are you looking for a place to sit?”
“All the other compartments are filled up,” the boy said, apologetically.
“Come on in,” James said.
“What snacks exactly—”
“Sirius!”
“What? It was a solid ques-ow. James! You kicked me!”
“Be nice!”
“They’re cucumber and cream cheese,” the boy interrupted.
“Ooh. Coconut and cream cheese?” James abandoned his tussling of Sirius to turn to the boy.
“Where did you get coconut from?” Remus asked blankly.
“Good point, Lupin. He said cucumber. How exactly does that translate to coconut? And more importantly, in what world is coconut and cream cheese a good combination?”
“Well, for your information, Sirius, my mum puts coconut in everything. Everything. I’m used to it.”
“Coconut and cream cheese sounds like an awful combination, though,” the boy said, shifting to move fully in the compartment.
“Listen to—what’s your name again?”
“It’s Peter,” said the boy.
“Listen to Peter, James! Coconut is utterly disgusting.”
“Or maybe you’re just uncultured,” James retorted.
“My dad once hit this burglar that had been trying to break into our home with a coconut over the head,” Remus said, feeling as though he should contribute to the conversation a bit more. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d smiled so much. “Turns out it was just his coworker from the Ministry. Apparently he’d been sneaking in the house for a while to steal my mum’s homemade shampoo.”
Three faces stared at him with varying degrees of surprise and incredulity. Remus noted Sirius seemed particularly impressed. It made him flush, for some odd reason.
Another harsh screech split through the air, and a warm matronly voice exclaimed, “Food trolley’s here!”
---
The train was loud loud loud, but Sirius had his arm looped in Remus’ own, laughing uproariously in his ear, and James was blathering on about something or the other on the other side of the compartment, his head in Lily’s lap as she carded through his hair and his legs being used as a table by Peter.
James, Remus thought, had been the one least changed by his time at Hogwarts. Now, on the last day the four of them—the five of them—would ever sit in this car, Remus could see an almost mirror image of the boy he met the first time he boarded the scarlet train. Sure, he’d lost some of the cockiness and gained some humility, but what boy hadn’t? At any rate, James being a constant was one of the few things Remus could count on.
“No no no, it was ‘cause Parkins jammed her wand up McGreggor’s nostril, remember? The bat-bogey hex came later,” Sirius said from his position curled into Remus’ side. Remus took a minute to appreciate how well Sirius fit there before focusing on his words, then immediately frowning.
Luckily, James voiced his thoughts. “I thought it was Ratale that shoved her wand up McGreggor’s nostril.”
“No, it was definitely Parkins,” Lily said decisively. “I remember McGreggor coming onto her and she forgot how to cast a hex, so she stuck the thing in his face. She told me about it later.”
“Could it be?” Sirius said, rolling onto the floor from Remus’ side. “Lily Evans agreeing with me?”
“Woe be the day,” she said.
“I do declare,” Sirius, well, declared. “It seems our bitter rivalry has ended, only to reveal the lustful desire fueling our passionate arguments. Tell me you feel it too, Evans.”
“I reckon the only thing she feels is disgust,” Peter remarked. “Your hair’s coming out of it’s bun.”
“A fresh-from-bed look,” Sirius waggled his eyebrows.
“I know for a fact Remus did not get up until Prongs dragged him off the bed this morning, and he was half asleep during breakfast,” Peter’s tone was flat, but everyone could hear the undercurrent of amusement threading through it.
“Go back to the lustful desire,” James said. “I’m curious as to how that will end.”
“With the two of us eloping and our holy matrimony winning the war through the magic of true love, of course,” Sirius piped back.
“Mister Black,” Lily gasped, dramatically. “You are a man spoken for!”
“Take him,” Remus grumbled.
“See, Evans? I have Moony’s permission.”
James laughed at the disgruntled look on Lily’s face, the use of their nicknames immediately causing her nose to scrunch up. Remus had asked, haltingly, if James was alright keeping their secret in between the four of them, as he wasn’t quite ready to tell Lily just yet. James had given him a reassuring smile, telling him of course, and took great delight in tormenting Lily.
“One day you will tell me what those names mean. You will.”
“I dunno, Evans. Smart witch like yourself, you should’ve figured that out by now.”
Remus let James and Lily’s argument fade into the background, and was about to get his book from his bookbag, when Sirius popped into his line of vision.
“Moony.”
“Padfoot.”
“You’re looking a little glum.”
“Just a little tired,” Remus laughed. “You were incredibly insistent last night, I don’t know if you remember.”
But bringing that up failed to distract Sirius as usual, because his boyfriend could be an incredibly perceptive person every now and then, and Remus hated it.
“No Remus,” Sirius said, his voice soft. “Something’s wrong. You alright?”
Remus heaved a sigh. “I’m fine.”
“Then what is it?” Sirius asked, putting his wrists on Remus’s palms, letting Remus wrap his fingers around that pale skin, knowing how much it soothed the wolf inside Remus.
Sirius was gazing up at him, eyes kind, a far cry from the reserved but hesitantly-opening-up boy that had once seated himself stiffly in this compartment. Nowadays, the leather jacket looped around his shoulders almost as often as Remus’ own arm was worn, his long hair in a messy bun held up by his wand, his face in an ever-present smile.
Remus loved him so much his heart ached.
He loved all of them, he really did. But the feeling of the wolf curling up soft and sweet underneath a behemoth of a wolf-like dog, safe and protected, though a werewolf hardly needs protection, was something Remus had no idea he’d gone so long without. Unfortunately, it had downsides, such as Sirius piercing him with an all-knowing gaze.
“Are you upset?”
Remus sighed, choosing to just get out with it instead of going through the pain of having Sirius pry it out of him. “Not upset, really. Just...wistful.”
“Wistful?”
“I am going to miss Hogwarts,” Remus started, choosing his words very carefully, “more than any other place on the planet.”
Sirius blinked. “Tad over exaggeration?”
But Remus shook his head, speaking softly to keep Lily from overhearing. “No. Hogwarts was where I was treated like a person for the first time since I can remember, not an animal that needs to be controlled. Hogwarts was where I met you all.”
“Technically, you met us all in this very train compartment.”
“You’re right,” Remus said. “Maybe we should just all stay in this train compartment forever. No war, no problems. Just us and Peter’s 4C sandwiches.”
“Mmm,” Sirius said thoughtfully. “I could live off those coconut-cucumber-cream-cheese sandwiches.”
“I’m happy right now, Sirius,” Remus said.
“And you’ll be happy in the future, too,” Sirius shot back.
“My parents can barely stand to look at me,” Remus said. “Wolf was already too far, I had to be a queer, too.”
“Oh no. Your parents dislike you?” Sirius raised his eyebrow, that same slow gesture that had let loose butterflies in his stomach during first year. “How awful.”
“Hush,” Remus said. “James’ folks treat you like their son.”
Sirius shrugged in acquiesce. “Listen, you’re only staying with them for two weeks. Then you’re hopping over to the Potters’ place so the four of us can spend time like we usually do. The ministry’s saying the war will be over sometime soon, they’ve almost won. Then, when the summer’s over, we hope our career applications went through and we’ll have jobs. And then we’ll get an apartment and have James over every other night and eat those stupid sandwiches and we’ll be happy, Remus.”
“You don’t know all of that will happen, though,” Remus said, fingers tugging at the edge of his sleeves.
“I’m saying it will,” Sirius sounded nothing but confident. “It will. We just have to work for it a bit. But your happiness isn’t rooted in a castle, or a train compartment, got it?”
Remus nodded, almost sheepishly.
“Wow. I’m pretty good at the moral speeches, eh? Usually it’s the other way ‘round, but I didn’t do half bad.”
Snorting, Remus kicked Sirius lightly. “Shut up,” he said, then leaned forward for a soft kiss.
“Stop giving us a free show, no one wants to see it,” James hollered, breaking the little bubble the two of them had created.
“Says the bloke getting a head massage from his baby momma,” Sirius said.
“The hell is a baby momma?” Peter asked, confused.
“It’s an American thing. Means girlfriend. I think.”
“You think?”
“I heard it in a song, okay!”
“Real specific, Padfoot, thank you.”
“You know what, James? The minute we get home, I’ll play it for you to hear. For you and for your parents.”
“Our parents,” James corrected, absently.
“Wait, I want to hear this song too,” Lily protested.
“Nope. Sorry, Evans. I’m afraid it’s too sacrilegious for your delicate little ears.”
“Sirius Potter-Lupin, I swear, I will smack that smirk clean off your face,” Lily said, then turned to swat James, who was silently laughing.
Sirius Potter-Lupin, Sirius mouthed, a little awestruck, and shot Remus a grin. It wasn’t full of sunlight, like James, or kindness, like Peter. It was a little bit dark and a little bit reckless, but a little bit gentle and a little bit graceful too. And, well, Remus couldn’t look at that smile and not drag him in for another kiss, ignoring the catcalls coming from James.
And if he did it outside that scarlet train, right before he and Sirius parted ways at this platform for the last time, well. The only one witnessing that was the Hogwarts Express.

Hi I hope you are well! in Worse engagement AU, does NHS ever find out about LXC getting longer-lasting incense, or LQR intentionally failing him his first year in Cloud Recesses? Poor NHS just can't catch a break, and I love the angst
Worst engagement AU
He does! And I may or may not have pushed myself to write nhs failing his year just because of how badly I wanted to write this, ahah.
Set soon after they get married :D
warning for... I guess he’s having a panic attack of sorts?
Unpacking is a terrible chore, worse in some ways than the packing that preceded it, but at least Nie Huaisang gets some help from his...
His face heats up. It's going to take a while to get used to the fact that they're married. It's only been a few days, and half the time it doesn't feel real. Which is the entire reason why Lan Xichen insisted that Nie Huaisang unpacked his things so they could put everything in its proper place and turn the Hanshi into something that's home for both of them. Even more than Nie Huaisang, it's obvious that Lan Xichen can't believe he gets to have this. It shows in the way he looks at Nie Huaisang when he enters the room where he's working, always half surprised to see him there. It shows also in the way he clings to him at night, as if Nie Huaisang might disappear otherwise, or run away, or do whatever other insane thing Lan Xichen might be imagining.
“What are those?” Lan Xichen asks, having opened a chest and found it full of various papers.
Nie Huaisang abandons the books he was trying to organise and comes to sit next to his husband, a little closer than necessary perhaps, but he knows Lan Xichen will appreciate it.
“This... Ah, it's a bit of everything,” Nie Huaisang admits. “Things I’ve done for fun these last few years. Most of it is bad poetry. Some of it about you, actually.”
“Did you?”
“I got very creative with insults at one point. I made Jin... I made someone read them, he found them very funny. Jiang Cheng saw them too, but he made a fuss about me being rude.”
Lan Xichen's smile freezes into that very annoying, very polite expression he has when he's unhappy about something. They usually avoid talking about Jin Zixuan, really, but Nie Huaisang was so taken by nostalgia for a moment that he half forgot. Besides, the poems really were funny.
Still, Nie Huaisang takes pity on Lan Xichen, and quickly digs into the chest to find something that will let him change the conversation. There's some half finished paintings, some calligraphy attempts, even notes from his time as a student and...
“Oh, right, I kept that,” he mutters, grabbing a neat little stack of paper. “That's probably good for a laugh.”
“Poems?”
“Even worse,” Nie Huaisang chuckles. “It's that exam I failed, my first year in the Cloud Recesses. I really thought I'd done great, you know? Well, maybe not great, but decently at least. Heavens, sometimes kids are so stupid they can't even see how stupid they are.”
Lan Xichen tenses next to him, and rather than to laugh along, throws him a concerned look.
“You kept that? Why?”
Nie Huaisang shrugs, grinning, and looks over the failed test. It always just felt like an important reminder that he’d never manage to play by the rules of others. A good chunk of the paper is unreadable because Lan Qiren had crossed over those wrong answers, but suddenly Nie Huaisang feels curious to see if he'd figure out how he got it so wrong.
“May I see?” Lan Xichen asks, his tone almost too careful, as if he fears he might offend.
“Sure, why not,” Nie Huaisang replies, handing him the papers and turning his attention back to the chest. “You know, I think I have a few portraits of you somewhere in there. Let me just find them, I think one at least is pretty good.”
While Lan Xichen deciphers the physical incarnation of all of his failures, Nie Huaisang continues digging into the chest. He does find a few portraits, but not the one he wants. These are doodles of Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng, and this he must get rid of discreetly because it's Jin Zixuan, smiling, so Lan Xichen won't like it, and this... well that's a painting of Lan Xichen alright, but he doesn't know how his husband might feel about, ah, imaginative depicting of what Nie Huaisang had once thought their married life might become. Besides, aside from the faces, everything was copied from one of his artful books, so it hardly counts as his own work. And this...
“Huaisang, are you sure this is the test you took back then?” Lan Xichen asks in a strange voice.
“It's not something I'd forget, is it?” Nie Huaisang replies with more bitterness than intended.
He half regrets it when he looks at Lan Xichen. Nie Huaisang almost can't figure what sort of an expression is on his husband's face except that it's an intense, rarely seen one.
Then it hits him.
Lan Xichen is furious.
“If you're having second thoughts because you're realising that I'm really an idiot after all...” Nie Huaisang starts, an old, half forgotten rage and terror already welling in his guts.
“Huaisang, I wouldn't have passed that test.”
Nie Huaisang stares. It's all he can do, when nothing makes sense.
"And I'm not saying I would have failed it when I was the age you were," Lan Xichen continues, blind to Nie Huaisang’s growing panic, his hands clenched on the papers, nearly tearing them apart. "As I am today I would probably not pass this test. The questions are made to look simple and to have easy answers, but they are actually on complicated subjects that only a scholar would know.”
“I’m not sure I understand,” Nie Huaisang mumbles, fear still curling in his chest, though a little less tight now. Lan Xichen is angry, but not at him.
Possibly for him.
But it makes no sense, none of this makes sense, because if his exam was really this hard and tricky, then…
“Uncle set you up for failure,” Lan Xichen states, almost a hiss.
Nie Huaisang stares.
This is. This is important. This changes. It just. It changes everything. It should make him angry, and it should make him happy. It should make him feel something, but instead he’s just numb.
It changes everything.
It changes too much.
Nie Huaisang doesn’t even know how to start unpacking everything this discovery means. It’s too much, it’s all at once, it’s the very basis of everything he’s done and felt those last few years being shaken on its foundations so badly that it threatens to crumble.
He can’t breathe.
He can’t think, he can’t breathe, because it’s too much, it’s too much, it’s too much, it’s…
He feels hands on his and that grounds him. One of the hands move to his face, wiping tears he hadn’t realised started flowing down his cheeks, just as he doesn’t know when he closed his eyes. He opens them when a gentle, worried voice calls his name.
“Huaisang,” Lan Xichen whispers. “Huaisang, I’m sorry. I swear I didn’t know.”
Nie Huaisang nods, trying to remember how to breathe. He doesn’t doubt that Lan Xichen didn’t know. Neither of them wanted to be forced to spend time together at that time, Lan Xichen wouldn’t have played along if he’d known, not even for his uncle.
But this is still…
“I didn’t fail,” Nie Huaisang manages to gasp. “I didn’t fail.”
“You didn’t.”
“I’m not stupid.”
He hears Lan Xichen make a noise almost like a wounded animal, feels himself being pulled into a tight hug that he doesn’t, cannot resist.
It’s not.
It’s not that he actually thinks he’s stupid. Nie Huaisang has learned, has accepted, that he’s quite smart, in his own way. He’s good at reading people, and at becoming friends with them, and he knows about literature and poetry and art and, and he’s nearly as good as Jiang Cheng for mixing patterns, and he understands animals and how to tame them. Nie Huaisang is clever, and he’s forced everyone who matters to see how clever he can be, but he knows what some people still say.
Even now, there are some who think that Lan Xichen should be pitied for their marriage. He’s heard them say that Nie Mingjue should have released his sworn brother from that ridiculous engagement, now that there are no Wens left to justify the need for an alliance. That a man as brilliant and respected as the mighty Zewu-Jun deserves a better spouse than that kid who somehow managed to fail when studying in the Cloud Recesses, something nearly unheard of.
But he’s not stupid.
He didn’t fail.
“You’re the smartest person I know,” Lan Xichen whispers against the top of his head, fierce and sincere in a way that Nie Huaisang doesn’t know how to handle. This, also, is too much, but in a way that hurts less. “I will go talk to Uncle. He owes you an apology.”
It’s almost funny. The idea that Lan Qiren might have to say sorry to Nie Huaisang…
Not so long ago, he would have said that it was impossible. He would have suspected that Lan Xichen would never dare confront his uncle, least of all on Nie Huaisang’s behalf. But now, if Lan Xichen says he will obtain an apology for him, his husband believes that he’ll really fight tooth and nail to get it. He’ll probably still fail, because that’s Lan Qiren and he isn’t one to admit mistakes, least of all when he can argue that things turned out fine for Nie Huaisang, but it doesn’t matter. The apology doesn’t matter. What does matter is knowing Lan Xichen is on his side, and the fact that he didn’t actually fail.
“Don’t go now,” Nie Huaisang demands, pressing himself closer to his husband. “I want… stay with me for now? I don’t care, I really don’t care, just stay with me.”
“Anything you want, my love. I wouldn’t have gone until you felt better, don’t worry.”
Nie Huaisang sighs, and closes his eyes again. He’s breathing easier now, the worst of the shock has passed. Later he’ll feel angry, he suspects. Furious even.
Later.
For now he is at relative peace, in his husband’s arms, loved and protected and seen, the way he always wanted to be, even back when he was a child too shy to dare want anything.
The rest doesn’t matter not really, not when he’s proven his worth in spite of what others say, but…
He didn’t fail, and an old wound he didn’t know he still carried stops itching.

Favorite twst boys?
Tumblr media
Oooohoohoo, you wish me to talk about my Night Raven College baes? Let’s see then...
Tumblr media
Ace Trappola ~ Okay, so I should admit right off the bat that I have a huge soft spot for the Heartslabyul dorm in particular. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll are one of my favorite things ever, and so most adaptations of those works tend to give me some amount of glee, even the really flawed ones. But for Ace specifically, it took me a little while to warm up to him, given that he can be a real prat, but once he and Deuce really rallied around Yuu (especially when they dropped everything on their winter break and took the bus all the way back to school during the Scarabia incident to try to rescue them and Grim -- MY HEART!!!), I fully adopted Ace as my second trash son and that was that. I also loved Ace’s development in the Ghost Bride story line, as well as his admittedly harsh, but still rather fair tear-down of Riddle immediately pre-Overblot. Ace can be really harsh sometimes, but that also makes him an incredibly honest sort who won’t take anyone else’s bull and won’t let anyone push him around -- yet at the same time, he’s also lighthearted enough that he never takes himself too seriously. In some ways he kind of reminds me of Jounouchi Katsuya from Yu-Gi-Oh!, and that’s definitely a compliment.
Tumblr media
Deuce Spade ~ MY ORIGINAL TRASH SON. I loved Deuce pretty much from the get-go, considering how passionate he was about trying to fix the mistake with the chandelier and how adorable he was casting the only magic he could manage (“COME FORTH, CAULDRON!” XDD). Then there was the whole “chick” incident where we not only saw his delinquent side which he tries so desperately to hide on full display for the first time, but we also got to see how much he truly loves his mom and how friggin’ stupid and yet absolutely sincere he is, and I just fell in love with Deuce even more. The Wish Upon a Star event where we learn Deuce wants to basically be this world’s equivalent of a sheriff after having been such a delinquent in his younger years only made me feel all the more for this guy -- him wanting to be so much better than he was even if he’s not the smartest, strongest, or most talented guy around I find so compelling and likable.
Tumblr media
Riddle Rosehearts ~ Yeah, I know, a lot of Heartslabyul love, but like with Ace, it took me a LONG while to warm up to Riddle. I thought he was a total jerk and I wanted nothing more than to give him a good telling-off (“go ahead, use that stupid collar on me -- I don’t have magic for you to block, you bullying prat!”) until Ace got around to punching Riddle in the face and then tearing him a verbal new one for me. It honestly took Riddle’s Overblotting for me to feel the least bit sorry for him, but it was how sincerely he acted after the fact in trying to make up for his mistakes that really softened my heart to him. Riddle has lived his whole life following rules and convention to the letter, and it’s made him miserable, so now that he’s come to grips with the fact that he doesn’t need to be miserable in order to live an upstanding life, he’s softened a bit. Even with this, though, that rule-abiding, upstanding attitude isn’t always hard to shake, and I think it makes for a much more balanced outcome than if Riddle just went hog-wild and stopped caring about everything -- because the whole reason Riddle followed the rules so closely is he wanted to do what was best for all and to be the best he could be, too. His motivation for being so strict came from a deep passion for leadership and order, and I’m glad that passion of Riddle’s wasn’t dampened, but instead given nuance. Now he can focus his passion more effectively, rather than lashing out in all directions indiscriminately. Like Ace as well, I loved Riddle’s development in the Ghost Marriage plot line, particularly his individual side story with Malleus. It really showcased Riddle’s noblesse oblige moral code, which I personally find the most compelling and likable aspect of his personality.
Tumblr media
Jack Howl ~ JACK IS A GOOD BOY. Anyone who disagrees can fight me. (LOL, not really, but...) Like with Deuce, I liked Jack pretty much immediately. From the start, he just came across as so much more down-to-earth and honest than either of the other two main characters from Savanaclaw (even if Jack is also a total tsundere, but honestly, if you’ve watched any kind of anime, you’re fluent enough in “tsundere” as a language to know exactly what Jack really thinks of something). He was sort of depicted as a black sheep in his own dorm, and -- honestly? -- I’m a sucker for characters that are sort of on the fringes and don’t quite conform to what people expect them to be. Add to that how passionate Jack is about working hard and being the best he can be in his own right, as well as how deathly loyal he is, and he’s just overall a character I would love being friends with.
Tumblr media
Jamil Viper ~ Jamil was the first character who Overblots who I actually felt sympathy for long before we see his side of the story in flashback form. Part of this admittedly is because I could sort of see where Jamil and Kalim’s story was going ahead of time, but the other reason is that I could see how much work Jamil put in all the time. Even though yeah, it was a real dick move to try to foist out Kalim so he could become Head of Scarabia instead, and yes, he manipulated things to make everyone see Kalim as cruel and irrational, it doesn’t change the fact that Jamil still acted like a Dorm Head a lot more than Kalim did a lot of the time, in the sense of making sure things run smoothly. Kalim definitely brings amazing enthusiasm to Scarabia as its leader and inspires a lot of positive feelings in the people around him, but if there’s a problem, it’s Jamil who often ends up fixing it, not Kalim. And from the start, I really felt for this guy who Kalim -- simply due to privilege -- didn’t seem to acknowledge he was demanding so much of, without receiving the same kind of attention and appreciation in return. I never disliked Kalim for this, because I could tell Kalim didn’t mean it maliciously and admittedly Jamil really should’ve said something since Kalim adores Jamil and would have likely been more than receptive to hearing what he had to say...but at the same time, given their power imbalance, it’s also not completely unsurprising that Jamil didn’t feel like he could say something. The best part about Jamil for me, at least, ended up coming out after he was allowed to finally speak his mind. Yeah, maybe he’s a little meaner now. Yeah, maybe he’s not so patient or amiable now. But he’s also allowed to show more of that deep, searing passion and ambition he’s been bottling up for so long. I loved seeing how much he enjoys dancing and performing through the Fairy Gala event and the recent Pomefiore chapter. I’ve loved how thoroughly (and pretty justifiably) distrustful he is of Azul. I’ve loved how he’s sort of on the fence emotionally about looking after Kalim the way he used to and making sure Kalim doesn’t expect his service the way he subconsciously did before. Jamil is one of the TWST characters who surprised me the most in how much I enjoy him, and I honestly can’t wait to see how much more he grows.
Tumblr media
Epel Felmier ~ I WILL PROTECT THIS BOY, OKAY. Not because he’s delicate-looking, but because damn it, if he wants to eat macaroons and steak with the wrong fork, then he should be allowed to just go out and do it. I absolutely love the contrasts we’ve already seen in Epel so far. For as sweet and bishounen as his face is, he has a real rough, informal side fitting his background as a kid from the country, and yet he also has his “Prince Charming” moments too. He completely on his own comes up with the idea to arrive riding a horse when trying to impress the Bride during the Ghost Marriage event, and yet he’ll also tear into a bunch of ghosts who dare mistake him for a girl. Epel reminds me of a friend of mine from high school who also was a lot gruffer and more cynical than his short height and cute face would suggest, and it makes for a very interesting character, I think. You can’t pin this kid down or put him in a single box, and I think that’s awesome.

Vil Schoenheit ~ All right. Before the Pomefiore chapter, I thought there was no way in Hell that I would ever warm up to Vil. His slapping of people’s butts in the Fairy Gala event, his superficial focus on exterior beauty, and his bullying, condescending attitude toward Epel in particular really made me dislike him from the get-go. But then the Pomefiore chapter started and we reached the auditions...and I found myself agreeing with just about every critique he made, in contrast to Rook’s sunnier, fawning reviews. It made me feel like I was watching American Idol or America’s Got Talent and agreeing with Simon Cowell (which I honestly almost always did, whenever I watched those!). And as the Pomefiore chapter’s unfolded, I’ve seen that fascinating contrast in Vil. Yes, he’s very superficial -- but his dream is to act and be an idol, and in that world of celebrity, appearances are important. Yes, he’s very conceited -- but he’s also an incredibly hard worker who’s put in a lot of effort to improve himself and his talents to the point that he should be proud of them. Yes, he’s almost cruel in how relentlessly he pushes people -- but he never holds anyone to a standard he wouldn’t also expect of himself. Yes, he’s very forceful and sees his way as the only way -- but he does truly want those people to succeed in his own weird way, even if he can’t properly express it. Not to mention the fact that he’s constantly typecast as villainous characters, and he just wants to be a hero who makes it to the final curtain call!! My heart!! It’s made it so that like with Jamil, I’ve found sympathy for Vil long before he Overblots, and so I’m all the more eager to see how both the Overblot itself and its aftermath impacts Vil as a character and his relationships with the other characters.

Malleus Draconia ~ Oh, come on, who doesn’t love Tsunotaro? This precious child needs all of the love and party invitations in the world! (And yes, he may be an immortal fae, but he’s still a precious child to me, so there.) I would totally love chatting about gargoyles and grotesques with him. X3

Zeke Character Profile
Physical
Zeke is a very physical person, in a multitude of ways. He is tough. He loves and is good at physical activities. He is obsessed with wrestling; he does it all the time and can’t seem to stop doing it. It seems also to be an emotional thing, as he often wrestles people when he is overcome with emotion or affection.
In group tasks or environments, he often occupies roles that demand physicality. At the makeshift gambling joint the Belcher kids run in their basement in “The Kids Run the Restaraunt,” he is the doorman and bouncer.  In “Few ‘Gurt Men,” his role in the mock trial is the baliff. In the heist in "The Taking of Funtime One Two Three,” his physical strength is emphasized and used to win an arcade game.
He is not just physically tough, but also physically affectionate. He is physically affectionate with most people, but is especially so with Jimmy Jr., his best friend. Zeke has no shame, embarrassment, or self-consciousness in hugging, holding, or throwing his arm around Jimmy Jr. and other boys his age. It’s really refreshing to see a male character that so thoroughly enjoys showing physical affection to his male friends without any “no homo” posturing or thoughts. To give Jimmy Jr. credit too, he likewise has no problem with the physical affection Zeke shows him or giving Zeke physical affection.
Good Friend
Zeke cares a lot about about his friendship with Jimmy Jr. He values it above all else. He and Jimmy Jr. are inseparable. Zeke is a great friend to him. He always encourages and supports Jimmy Jr., showers him with compliments, and comforts him when Jimmy Jr. needs it. The only time he is disloyal to Jimmy Jr. is in the “Oeder games,” and that’s only after Jimmy Jr. turns on him first.
Supportive and Encouraging
Zeke is extremely encouraging and supportive of other people. He’s a cheerleader: not actually, but in spirit. He is constantly cheering on and complimenting people’s ideas and accomplishments. He just really believes in people and lets them know. Even when he is being critical, he does it in a positive when. In “The Land Ship,” when everyone is bashing Tina for being bland or boring, Zeke included, he at least does it in a somewhat motivational way, telling her “get some spice into you girl!”
Kind
Zeke is incredibly kind. He really cares about other people. There are many instances of Zeke being extraordinary kind. Because there are so many instances, I will just pick out a few examples that really stuck out to me. In “Broadcast Wagstaff News,” Zeke tells Tina that after a while, he continued to be the mad pooper for Tina. It’s a surprisingly sweet and touching thing. Even Tina, who is not partial to Zeke, thinks so. In “Midday Run.” he steals the mascot costume from Wagstaff for his grandma. She is going into surgery, and he knows that him prancing around in the mascot costume in front of her would comfort her and cheer her up. Once he is caught, he is desperate to get away, not to get out of trouble, but so that he can be there for his grandma. In “The Silence of the Louise,” Zeke falsely confesses to destroying Mr. Frond’s therapy dolls so that Jimmy Jr. and the other kids can go to the waterpark. It’s a completely selfless act, putting others above himself even when he doesn’t have to.
People Person
Zeke is a people person; he loves people and loves to be around them.  He is very affectionate with people and often gives them nicknames; for example, he sometimes calls Tina “T-bird.” He also loves giving compliments, which he does all the time.
And people also really like Zeke. The best example of this is “A Fish Called Tina.” At different points, he is Rudy’s and Kaylee’s big fish (their mentor). He gets along with them so well. They really like him. Rudy even starts to think that Zeke could be his soulmate. After their first fish meeting, Rudy tells Zeke  “I love you so much man.” Zeke replies in kind and they hug. Zeke loves people and they love him.  Zeke just gets along with others so naturally and effortlessly. He is likeable, which in his case, is an actual skill. It’s no surprise he is such a great Big Fish.  Zeke is able to bond with people who are completely different from him. He likes them even though they are nothing alike. Zeke is loud, outgoing, and energetic. While Rudy and Kaylee are quiet, bookish, and meek. But he doesn’t care about this, he doesn’t look down on them or think their weird or that they’re loses. Zeke likes and appreciates them, and people in general, for who they are. It’s also telling that such quiet and reserved people are able to care about Zeke so quickly rather than finding him obnoxious or draining.
Empathetic
Zeke is extremely empathetic, and always tries to understand the reasons for others’ behavior. In "Bob Actually,” when Tina run’s away from Jimmy Jr.’s jumping kiss, Zeke empathizes wither her, telling her “feelings are scary girl.” He’s wrong about why she’s running away (it’s diarrhea), but it’s telling that he takes a guess at why she is running away, and emphasizes with it. In “The Hawkening: Look Who’s Hawking Now,”  Zeke is emotional and distraught over Rudy having a broken arm and he brings up the idea of a party to celebrate Rudy getting his cast off.
In "Sit Me Baby One More Time,” Zeke’s immediate empathy for Kendra is really incredible. He almost immediately zeroes in on the fact that her behavior stems from the difficulties of being the new kid in school. He intuits that Kendra is bullying others in a preemptive strike against rejection. He says that “she rejects them in their crouch before they reject her in their heart.” He offers this girl empathy and understanding, even though the few seconds he’s interacted with her involved her attacking him unprovoked. It’s really an outstanding moment of empathy, as well as showing that Zeke has an incredible ability to understand others.
Honest and Open
Zeke may lie about the trouble he gets into, but he is completely honest and open about his thoughts and feelings. He has no trouble showing or announcing how he feels. In fact, he almost constantly does so. The audience and the other characters in the show never have to guess what he is thinking or feeling.
He has no problem showing his emotions, which is quite refreshing to see in a teenage boy character, especially one as typically boyish as Zeke. He loves to express affection for people, verbal and physical. In “The Gene and Courtney Show,” he openly cries in class at Gene’s love announcement. He informs the whole class that he is crying. He also cries and gets emotional at the puppet show in “If You Love it so Much, Why Don’t You Marrionate?” In “The Trouble with Doubles,” He openly admits to being scared by the movie. He says it without being asked.
Below Average Intelligence
Zeke is not the most intelligent kid. He doesn’t have the smartest ideas or the best critical thinking skills. He doesn’t do well in school. He is in the Home Economics class that Mr. Frond describes as “for dummies.” Part of his problem with school, seems to be his short attention span, and he probably has ADHD, but he’s also just not book smart.
Zeke is aware of his lack of intelligence. In "Ex Mach Tina,”  Zeke tells Tammy and Jocelyn that they’re making him feel smart, showing that he is aware that he isn’t smart. In “Bob and Deliver,” his whole plotline revolves around this idea. Zeke says he doesn’t need cooking, and that he’s not going to college. He doesn’t seem to believe he has a bright future, and has accepted that. Bob has to badger Zeke into trying to cook. Zeke repeatedly says that he can’t do it. When Bob goes to taste it the dish Zeke made, Zeke tells Bob that he probably wrecked it.  It’s clear that he doesn’t believe in himself, at least when it comes to his intelligence and general abilities. This plotline is about Zeke gaining faith in himself, and learning he can do more than he thinks he can. He learns that he is more than what he has been told he is. Once he finds a teacher who believes in him, he is able to flourish.
High Emotional Intelligence
While Zeke may struggle with some forms of intelligence, he has incredible emotional intelligence and maturity. He may be the most emotionally intelligent character, and not just out of the kid characters, but all the characters. He accepts and expresses his own emotions. He is not ashamed or afraid of them.
He approaches people with empathy and is genuinely interested in their point of view. In “Midday,” Zeke honestly asks Tina why she likes being a hall monitor, and challenges her on what the job does/means. He is genuinely trying to challenge, understand, and help her, rather than just calling her out or antagonizing her. ”
Because of his empathy and sincere interest in people, he is incredibly insightful and smart when it comes to people, their feelings, and their motivations. In "Ex Mach Tina,” he has rather insightful things to say about one of Jimmy Jr.’s songs, the one about Jimmy Jr.’s father throwing the ball too hard for Jimmy Jr. to catch when they play catch. Zeke analyses the song, telling the group it’s about parents putting too much expectations on their kids.
In “Sit Me Baby, One More Time,” Zeke displays extraordinary emotional intelligence in his ability to understand Kendra. As described above, he only meets for her a few seconds, and during those seconds, she was trying to attack him. He hears secondhand from Tina that she is new in school and that she is bullying other kids. From just this information, he is gain accurate and incredible insight into her behavior and mindset. With this example, you get the feeling that Zeke really sees people, in all their complexities, masks, and flaws.  In the same episode, when Jimmy Jr. tells Zeke’s he’s scared, Zeke responds “I know buddy, that’s what makes us human.” Again insightful and empathetic. He has a great attitude toward emotions. Better yet, he doesn’t mock JJ’s fear, the way that so many boys are taught to do. He doesn’t think that fear makes someone weak, or is unmanly. He just accepts fear, and offers empathy to Jimmy Jr.
Big Picture Thinker/Philosophical
Despite his below average traditional intelligence, Zeke things about big things and issues. He is also occasionally philosophical.
In "Tina and the Real Ghost,” Zeke reveals that he doesn’t believe in ghosts or the afterlife. It says a lot that he’s thought enough about death and the afterlife to have a strong opinion on it and to not believe in it. Zeke thinks about big picture things: some pretty serious, weighty stuff. When he does start to believe in ghosts, he says very seriously, and kinda in a sort of despair, that “this changes a lot for me. A LOT.” He has a world view, and nd there is some melancholy and despair under his cheeriness. When the fraud of the ghost Jeff is revealed, Zeke says he wanted to believe that there was more than this life. This is a much more serious and philosophical desire than the other characters desires: to have a boyfriend, to hop on the bandwagon, or to win in a rivalry.
There are some other examples of Zeke thinking about big issues.  In “Ex Mach Tina,” he is excited about getting philosophical about growing up. In “The Quirk-ducers,” it is revealed that  Zeke co-founded a “women’s issues” club. He is also aware enough to know that no women signing up for the club is a problem. In “UFO No You Didn’t,” Zeke is concerned about the bees dying, and becomes the topic of his and Tammy’s science project. And it’s actually a good one idea, showing that Zeke can apply himself when he cares about what he’s doing.
Loud and Excitable
Zeke is very loud and excitable. He has has a sense of wonder about the world, and gets excited about the tiniest things. He is extremely enthusiastic. He uses colorful, creative, and evocative language. Zeke also loves to entertain others. He loves the attention, and making other people laugh.
Juvenile Sense of Humor
Zeke has a juvenile sense of humor. He loves gross out and sexual humor, as best indicated by his mad pooper stunt. He also has a lot of traits that are typically associated with teenage boys, such as his obsession with boobs.
Impulsive
Zeke is very impulsive, often acting without thinking. This can be both good and bad. It can be good because it means he is a doer; he takes action. This can be seen in "The Belchies,” when he, Tina Jimmy Jr, and Gene are stuck in the elevator. While Gene, Jimmy Jr., and Tina are just sitting in the elevator, accepting that they are stuck, Zeke is the one that gets them out by lifting the elevator door thing on an impulse. But his lack of impulse control also causes serious problems. It leads him to make bad decisions, and it gets him in trouble a lot at school. Zeke gets detention A LOT. However, he is aware of his impulse control issues. In “Thelma and Louise Except Linda is Thelma,” he explains that his many detentions is because he has a problem with impulse control.
Rule-breaker
Due partly to his poor impulse control, Zeke is bad at following rules. He also is just a rebellious person who enjoys causing trouble sometimes. He likes pranks, and often acts out.
But sometimes, his rule-breaking has nothing to due with this poor impulse control or love of pranks. Zeke follows his heart and his own moral code. He knows that rules aren’t always moral or right. He does what he thinks is right, even if its against the rules. This is best evidenced in “Midday Run,” when he steals the mascot costume in order to cheer up his grandma before her surgery. By the end of the episode, Zeke ended up teaching Tina that rules aren’t always right, and she shouldn’t always just obediently follow and enforce them without question.
Troubled Home Life
The show repeatedly hints that Zeke has a troubled home life; it’s a running joke of the series. In the opening of "The Runway Club,” in a homage to the film “The Breakfast Club,”  Zeke plays the Bender role, further connecting him to a troubled home life.
Most of what’s mentioned or alluded to isn’t too serious or concerning. But Zeke seems to have a more adult, messy, and complicated home life than the other kid characters. His family moves around a lot, his birth mom had him when she was in high school, he has a 44 year-old brother, a clown at 7th birthday part later become famous for murdering someone. These are just some examples of things mentioned.
In “Boyz for Now,” Zeke also tells Tina and Louise that his step-mother is an alcoholic and a shopaholic.  Although, during the play, when they are talking about how great moms are, Zeke makes a point to include step moms, and gives his step mom a shout out. So, he clearly has a good relationship with her. So again, nothing too dark, but still a bit troubled.
Conclusion
Zeke is a deceptive character. By which I mean, at first glance, and when he was first introduced, he seems simple. He’s a loud, gross, not very smart, impulsive teenage boy with a juvenile sense of humor.  But underneath these qualities, he has a lot of depth. He is philosophical, highly emotionally intelligent, and extremely kind.
And just like viewers may at first have written him off, Wagstaff and Mr. Frond have too. Zeke is the type of kid whom schools, at least American schools, routinely fail because they have such a rigid and limited idea of what a good student is. They value a specific set of qualities, and fail to value or even see others that lay outside of that set. Unfortunately for Zeke, he lacks the qualities schools value and excels in the ones they ignore and devalue.
Zeke is labeled a bad, below-average kid. But the thing is, he is actually an extraordinary and talented kid. His level of emotional intelligence at his age is incredible, and really, rarer than the book-smarts that the “good kids” possess. He is really great with people, at dealing with them, and understanding them. That’s a real gift. But Wagstaff doesn’t value or even acknowledge these skills and qualities.
These abilities and personality traits should be acknowledged, valued, encouraged, and nourished. It is possible to create a school environment where Zeke, and kids like Zeke, can thrive.  Instead of endlessly punishing Zeke and telling him that he’s a bad kid not worth very much, the school and Mr. Frond should acknowledge and cater Zeke’s school experience to his considerable gifts
For example, Zeke has a lot of qualities that make a great leader, such as his people-oriented nature and big picture thinking. Obviously, he lacks some necessarily qualities for leadership, so Zeke works best as a co-leader or leading with a group. He needs a partner/co-leader that has the leadership skills he lacks: critical thinking, attention to detail, and long-term thinking.
In “Prank You For Being a Friend,” Zeke is put in the club ‘the Thinkgineers” as a punishment. Imagine if he was encouraged or put in extracurricular activities that actually suited his skills and interests. The Thinkginners is the absolute worst club to put Zeke in. The Thinkginners is a club about inventing. It involves critical thinking, problem solving, math, and minute details. If the goal was to punish Zeke, then Mr. Frond succeeded, but wouldn’t it be better to help help. Mr. Frond should have put Zeke a club where he can actually thrive and find purpose, like with his time as a Big Fish. So maybe a mentorship club? Or a club that interacts with a lot or helps people? Or even something with leadership? These types of “punishment” would be much more helpful to Zeke than any of the other punishments he is given. Isn’t his behavior improving more important than the act of punishing?
I imagine Zeke would me more motivated and be better able to work on his weaknesses, if his strengths were recognized and encouraged in school. If he believes that his is a capable and worthy person, he might believe in himself more and work harder on his weaknesses. He might enjoy school more, which could only be a good thing.

i'll promise that i'll love you for the rest of my life
one giving the other flowers, as requested by @rosalitadiazz AGES ago, also dedicated to @397bartonstreet for the initial idea of amy sleeping in/just being the best and @nine-niall for helping with the marriage highlight reel.... and for making me listen to heartbreak weather on repeat for the last few days and coming up with this title
happy anniversary to jake and amy!!! (also since the ep aired 2 years ago today i'm not *technically* late thank u very much)
One million, fifty one thousand and two hundred minutes after marrying Amy Santiago (or, two years), every moment is as wonderful as day one. He still feels the same rush of excitement when he sees her waiting by their car at the end of a shift, the same swell of pride when she introduces him to someone as her husband, the same “oh my god we’re actually married” moment when he catches her rings glinting in the sunlight. It’s been the best one million, fifty one thousand and two hundred minutes of his life. And while he appreciates every single second they have together, knowing how in their line of work things can change all too easy, their second anniversary presents the perfect opportunity to remind her that everyday he gets to be with someone as amazing as her is crazy to him.
He has flowers, a handmade card, he even hoovered and she’s still asleep.
She never sleeps this late.
Everyone knows she’s the morning person in their relationship and he’s the Get Out Of Bed After Snoozing The Alarm Seventeen Times person. They live together, share a car, and yet most mornings he ends up riding the Subway, squashed between an old woman and a nerdy looking guy who smells like he hasn’t showered in a week, Amy rolling her eyes when he gets to work mid-briefing. The rare days she can get him out of bed early usually involve some kind of bribery using food and/or sex.
The point is, he’s supposed to be the one sleeping in past 11 AM, but ever since their doctor prescribed Clomid to help stimulate ovulation and boost their chances of making a baby, their roles have been totally reversed like Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday.
Pregnant Amy falls asleep anywhere and everywhere. The couch, the car, the cleaning cupboard at work when she was trying to find some Nuclear-strength cleaner to remove the stench of Charles’ lunch from the air before she hurled again.
She could sleep all day if he let her and he quite easily could. She looks so peaceful and cute and free from the stresses of her family asking why they waited so long (well, long for Santiago standards) to start a family. Plus, the messy hair and tiny bit of drool on her chin are impossibly endearing in the way only she can be.
He smiles and wraps his arms around her, resting his head on his shoulder, his hands - like his thoughts - drifting to her growing bump as they inevitably always do.
This time next year they’ll be celebrating with their little boy or girl, telling them all about the insane, magical day that was May 15th 2018. Of course, it might be some time before they can fully grasp the TV-worthy drama of the creepy phone call, the bomb in the vent, the ex-boyfriend proposing - twice! - and the wall of Amy photos, but they will sure as dammit know how beautiful their mom looked in her dress and how happy their dad was when Grandpa Holt finally announced them as husband and wife.
“Can’t breathe,” his wife squeaks, finally awake. “Arms too tight.”
“Oops. Sorry, babe.” He kisses her by way of apology; sometimes when he gets to thinking about that day, about seeing her walk down the shredded paper aisle under the glow of fairy lights, surrounded by the very people who watched them fall in love, he kind of forgets where he is and what he’s doing.
She’s always had that intoxicating effect on him. That’s never gonna change.
“Time is it?” She yawns, stretching her arms above her head.
“Twenty five to,” he pauses to brace himself for her reaction, “...twelve.”
“Twelve?” Horrified, she moves to get out of bed and yeah, he knows her so well. “Let me go,” she huffs in frustration when he forms a barrier to keep her from leaving.
“No can do, Santiago,” he says authoritatively. “You’ve been working yourself to the bone and you’re pregnant. You need to rest. We’ve both got the day off, our dinner reservations aren’t until 8. Just let your husband take care of you for a couple of hours.”
She chews on her lower lip, making her contemplative face that he recognises from sitting opposite her for so many years, preferring watching her piece together the leads in a case rather than work on his own. “Fine,” she eventually concedes. “Happy anniversary, by the way.”
“Happy anniversary,” he returns the sentiment, kissing her again because, well, he can, one of the perks of marrying Amy Santiago (alongside a perfectly organised sock drawer and getting to hang out with the best person in the world 24 sevs). “I got you these,” he adds, procuring the daffodil bouquet he found online.
“Jake,” she sighs dreamily, placing the flowers on her nightstand. “They’re beautiful. And my favourites.”
“I know,” he smirks. He may not be Santiago level smart, but he’s smart when it comes to all things Santiago. “Also made you this.” He hands over the card.
She opens it, instantly tearing up at his sweet message inside, the dam bursting when she notices the scrawled message written with his wrong hand from their unborn baby. “Mine sucks in comparison,” she laments, passing him his card before locking her eyes back on the words ‘happy anniversary to the world’s best mama’.
“It does not suck,” he reassures her, clutching it to his chest. “I’m going to savour it for all times. I want to be buried with it.”
She rolls her eyes, drying her cheeks with the back of her hand. “I thought you wanted to be buried with your original copy of Die Hard.”
“OK, Die Hard and your card. Rhymes for a reason, Ames.”
“You’re such a dork,” she responds, stifling her laughter. “Can’t believe I’ve been married to you for two full years.”
“I know.” He grins. “What was your favourite part?”
Her eyes glimmer with excitement and love and memories of their first anniversary before things turned upside down. “Are you suggesting we do a marriage highlight reel à la NBA inside stuff?”
“That’s exactly what I’m suggesting. I’ll go first. NUMBER FIVE,” he yells in his spot on Ahmad Rashad impression, earning a giggle from his wife. “Number five is that dress you wore on my birthday. Your butt looked the bomb in it.”
“Thanks, babe.” Two years in, she’s used to the constant “your butt is the bomb” comments, often uttered at the most inappropriate of times like when she stands up to brief the squad or play soccer with her brothers, much to her chagrin and their delight.
“Number four,” she quickly moves on. “The time you taught me to play Mario Party and I beat Wario on the first try.”
“That was my worst moment,” he groans.
“And that’s why it’s my best.”
He sighs, considers debating it, engaging in the classic back-and-forth that is the very foundation of their relationship, but it’s moot. She was way better than him. Santiago’s learn fast. It’s in their genes or something. And despite the crushing disappointment when she beat Wario with ease and dork danced her way to the kitchen to grab them both an orange soda, it was still a very fun night and a worthy moment in the highlight reel.
“Number Three. The York murder.”
Immediate understanding spreads across Amy’s face, but he explains anyway.
“I spent three days working that case and you just came in, saw the board and solved it right away.”
“I’m very smart,” she jokes lightheartedly.
“You are,” he agrees, his voice coming out softer and sincerer than even he imagined. “I love that about you. I love your brain. I love how good you are at your job, at figuring out puzzles. I love that you listen to NPR and know so much about the font Helvetica and have read, like, a million books. I love that you do a crossword every night and I love how proud you look when you give me a sports clue and I actually get it right. I love cheering you on at Trivia Nights even when Kylie can’t stop glaring at me. How lucky am I to have the smartest wife in the world?”
Touched, she can barely compile her thoughts to reveal her Number Two.
“The night at Shaw’s, at Hitchcock’s second divorce party, your speech, the way you kissed me, the way you were so gentle when we got home,” she sniffles. “It was special and made me feel so loved and if I say anymore I’m going to cry again, so you go.”
He chuckles knowingly. The pregnancy hormones have been making her extra emotional lately, they can’t even watch commercials anymore without her fully weeping. And while last year Pam and her twisted bowels interrupted before they could get to Number One, this year Number One is obvious. Clear as day. And there’s no one to interrupt.
He pretends to think about it for a minute (because he will always love teasing her, married or not). Only when she grabs his arm and digs her nails into his skin does he put both their hands on her bump and smiles. “Obviously this little guy or gal is Number One.”
She smiles back at him, but it doesn’t reach her eyes.
His own face falls. “Ames?”
“It’s been a hard year, hasn’t it?” She sighs, thinking back to calendars and fertility appointments and the strict no nacho policy.
“Yeah,” he says, “it has. But this next year is gonna be the best one yet.”
“I mean... We’re probably not going to sleep a lot.”
“You might not sleep a lot but I sure will,” he teases, his words falling flat. “Just kidding, babe. Obviously I’m going to get up for all the feeds and diaper changes and whatever else this kid throws at us. Gonna be there for you both. No matter what.”
The pregnancy hormones strike again and she starts crying and, honestly, he can’t wait for this baby to get out, for more reasons than one.
“BRB, I’ll go make your favourite breakfast to make you feel better, don’t grow anymore body parts while I’m gone.”
He returns seven minutes later with pancakes, a ton of fruit, decaf coffee and another kiss. He climbs back into bed, devours his own Nutella pancakes and posts his favourite blurry, drunk on Champagne and love selfie from their makeshift wedding reception at Shaw’s, on Insta with a caption about how he promises he’s gonna love her for the rest of his life.
And he keeps that promise.

logan lark’s adventures in trying to appease his parents
CHAPTER 4: a tight-knit family
Summary: Logan Lark is a fairly average high school student. By all means, he should be impressing his parents on all grounds. Except...he doesn’t exactly have a social life. So after his parents give him puppy dog eyes, he decides to join the local theatre's youth production. Good grief...His life is about to get weird isn’t it?
Warnings: Potential ooc behavior, Roman is a theatre brat to the highest degree (Sorry Roman stans), Remus being Remus, (If I miss something please tell me!)
Notes: This fic is based off an idea from @under-the-blue-moonlight. If you wanna be tagged in chapters, please dm me!! This chapter we see a LOT of Patton, a little of Virgil, and some Roman being an ass behaviour. I apologize if this chapter is lackluster, it’s important I promise!! Also I just finished chapter 5...its 3295 of intrulogical fluff
Pairings: Eventual Intrulogical, Eventual Rociet, Eventual One-Sided Logicality, Platonic Analogical, Platonic DRLAMP
Word Count: 2269
Tagslist: @under-the-blue-moonlight @why-should-i-tell-youu2 @im-actually-ok @hauntedturkeycalzonedreamer
After a few weeks, not disappointing Remus was a weak reason to be here.
Though he never considered himself a quitter, god he would love to just quit one thing in his life. The thing being theatre.
When Thomas arrived Roman bombarded him with questions. Turns out, Logan was cast as Hamilton due to his exceptional rapping. Roman, weaker at rapping but a very confident and strong singer, could provide the extremely skilled vocal performance required by Washington. If Logan were to get sick, Roman would play Hamilton and Remus would hand over Maria’s part to his understudy. Which made sense, of course. The beginnings of rehearsals were, by all means, not entirely awful. They were going to learn the music to the show, song by song. The first problem arises with Logan’s absolutely awful stage fright. After the first run-through of the title number, Alexander Hamilton, Logan almost threw up again. People looked directly at him whenever he sang or rapped. The musical director, Jamahl, assured him it was fine. Jamahl, as nice as he was, would be receiving a solid two on Logan’s chart. It’s okay, Logan, Everyone gets stage fright, Logan. That, quite frankly, sounded like a bunch of bullshit. Especially since every time Logan got too nervous and messed up, Roman laughed from off to his side.
Which shouldn’t bother him. It really shouldn’t. Except...Well, it was infuriating to be laughed at. For something he can’t control no less. He was ready to ball up his script and pelt him with paper until he stopped being a colossally egotistical idiot. Along with Roman’s frankly abhorrent behaviour, Logan also had to deal with feigning...romantic intimacy. Don’t get him wrong, Patton was a very nice guy. But...how would you feel knowing your first kiss would have to be fake for a theatre production? Bad. You would feel bad. So does Logan. Logan is sick of all of this, and by the end of the second week he finally snaps.
When he hears that during Helpless he needs to kiss Patton, he doesn’t bother to hide his surprise. Of course, after he does, Roman decides to open his big dumb mouth.
“What’s wrong, Microsoft nerd? Upset that your first kiss will be on the stage?”
Patton reels back and glares at Roman almost instantly, opening his mouth to defend Logan, when Logan turns on Roman himself.
“I am beginning to wonder if you ever just shut up,” Logan snaps, fists balled in anger.
“Because honestly, for the two weeks I have been in this theatre program, you have done nothing but spout off like a tea kettle about to boil over all because I happened to be better than you at one thing. So I am sincerely asking, do you ever shut up?”
Somehow, he has done the impossible. Roman is stunned into silence, his face goes red with anger.
“How dare-” Is all he manages to get out before Thomas calls for a five-minute break.
Thomas motions for Logan to come over to him, and he’s still fuming. If he were as dramatic as a certain hoity-toity theatre brat, he would be practically foaming at the mouth. Thomas is an adult, so he tries to pull himself together.
“I apologize-”
“Don’t. Roman kinda deserved that,” Thomas says with a smirk, “He’s a great kid, but he has a lot to learn.”
It’s his turn to be shocked into silence, because never in a million years would he expect an adult to enable such an outburst.
“Really though, Logan, Just try not to let it happen again. I’ll let it slide this time, okay?”
With a nudge to the side and a kind smile, Logan is sent to have his break.
Roman is quiet for the rest of the day. Logan could not be more pleased. Roman’s anger at him was unjustified and awful, he was overall awful. After today, he would need to add a negative rating to his charts. He doesn’t think he could ever get along with someone like Roman without eventually succumbing to his anger and strangling him. Logan knows his extreme anger is wrong, but Roman was just...just...absolutely, unbelievably, infuriating. Sitting in the lobby waiting for his father like usual, he is approached by Patton. Alone this time, without Virgil. Which is strange.
“You look like you’re about to rip someone's head off,” Patton giggles out with a sympathetic smile.
Logan sighs and gives him a little smirk, “My apologies, are you going to be getting a ride with Virgil tonight?”
“No, his dad is picking him up! I was actually wondering if you wanted to hang out!”
“I-” Logan thinks on this for a while, then shrugs. It may be for the best. Patton has been very kind, and he has defended him when Roman was being a jerk.
“Sure, let me message my father.”
Patton’s car is a beat-up looking second-hand thing that looks like it rolled out of a dump. Inside, it’s actually very well taken care of. Patton calls the car “Christine” and pats her lovingly. Hanging from the rear-view mirror is a small frog-shaped air freshener that makes the car smell of strawberries. The seats are comfortable, and Patton’s music is sweet. Eventually they pull into a parking lot in a townhouse area, and as they walk down the street Patton waves and says hello to all his neighbours that are outside.
“You know them all?”
“Oh, yeah! Lots of them have babysat me, or my sisters! And I’ve babysat for them too!”
Huh. He didn’t know Patton had sisters. Though, the second they enter his house, it’s entirely obvious.
In the living room, there are three young girls. Patton’s shoes are barely off when the two youngest ones rush him and engulf him in hugs. The older one walks over and smiles at Logan first.
“Hi, which one are you?” She asks, and Patton laughs.
“Delilah Ann! That’s not nice!”
“I’m Logan, it’s nice to meet you.”
“I’m Lilah, I’ve heard a lot about you. Mostly ‘cause Pat doesn’t shut up.”
Patton looks a little pouty, but Logan thinks he likes Lilah. She doesn’t look much like Patton at all. Her hair is more wavy than curly, and a very nice strawberry blonde colour. She doesn’t have glasses, and dresses very tomboyish, the only thing that ties them together are their freckled cheeks. She’s only thirteen, but Logan finds her interesting to talk to. While Patton is dealing with the younger ones, she tells him about how she wants to be a mortician and is the smartest in her family. Logan smiles a little while they have a mostly one-sided conversation.
One thing the siblings have in common is certainly their talkative likability.
The younger two are put to work on their homework at the dining table, and Patton begins to set up dinner. Logan sits next to the girls at the table, Delilah retreating to her room, chatting with Patton as he cooks. He offered to help but was denied at every turn. Something about him being a guest, and how he shouldn’t have to. They’re discussing their roles in the play when the youngest slams her head against the table dramatically.
“Patton! I don’t wanna do this anymore!” She whines, Patton puts some potatoes in a pot then brushes off his hands on his apron.
“Do you need help, or do you need a break?”
“Help!”
Logan peers over her paper and sees a bunch of simple multiplication questions, she must only be in second or third grade.
He clears his throat, “If you’d like, I could help you.”
“Oh! Oh! Yes! Patton can Logan help me please!”
Patton agrees, despite obviously looking at Logan and saying ‘You really don’t have to’ with his eyes. Logan likes to teach, he’s more than happy to help out. Especially since Elaine is extremely charming. You can definitely see how much she looks like Patton. Big square glasses, blonde hair in pigtails, tons of freckles dotting chubby cheeks. She acts like him too, spouting out awful dad jokes that make Patton lose it laughing in the kitchen. She tries her best to listen, and manages to actually complete her math homework with a pretty good mark. Her teacher will hopefully be impressed. Logan’s dad texts and asks if he needs to be picked up, but Elaine begs him to stay for dinner and...well he can’t say no, can he? Patton says he doesn’t have to stay, but he wants to.
He’d never had siblings, it had always just been him and his parents. Though he loved them, and they loved him, it was so...lonely sometimes. He had always wanted a little brother or sister, maybe even a pet, but it never really happened. The energy in Patton’s house was somehow a perfect mix of lively and calm, they felt like they were really a family. Logan relished in it. The feeling of community, full of love so openly given and received. The most he had were very quiet holiday dinners with the few Larks who were left. He remembers being Elaine’s age, he felt so lonely. She wasn’t lonely though, she was full of love. So was Patton. It was very nice. He watches Patton cook and he chats with him while realizing he’s been much too harsh on him. His kindness wasn’t fake, there was no way. He was a real person who was actually that nice. He defended him out of the kindness of his heart.
Ding.
hey logan wyd rn
Ah, Virgil. That was a pleasant surprise.
I’m actually at Patton’s house. Elaine has roped me into staying for dinner.
He can almost hear Virgil’s little chuckle.
yeah she does that hows sophie
Sophie? Oh, that must be the third sister. She’s very quiet, her eyes haven’t once looked upwards the whole time they’ve been sat together.
“Ahem-Uhm-Sophie,” Logan starts, and Sophie looks up from her homework, “Virgil was wondering how you are?”
Her eyes light up, “I’m good. Is he going to come over?”
She’s good. She wants to know if you will be coming over.
hah, sure tell her to give me 20
“Yes, give him twenty minutes.”
Sophie smiles, and Logan is reminded of Virgil almost immediately. She has dark brown hair that covers her face and a bit of a natural glare. Her smile is shy, and he wonders if Patton secretly stole Virgil’s little sister.
It seems like it, even more, when Virgil actually gets there. Sophie’s entire demeanor changes. She becomes extremely talkative and tells Virgil all about how she’s got a new villager in her animal crossing town. Virgil entertains her with talking, going and helping Patton to cook. Logan gets up to help as well, but Virgil waves him away. Virgil looks like he belongs here, in this little dining room-kitchen. He’s laughing beside Patton, talking to both girls and Logan, helping cook and set the table. Logan can’t help but wonder how many times he’s done this before. While Patton is putting the food on the table, the door opens and a tired-looking woman enters. Virgil goes to greet her, and she smiles. Her hair is curly and blonde, her eyes are a cloudy green, she is covered in a smattering of freckles, and she looks...just like Patton.
Logan gets up to go greet her as well. When she sees him she beams and it’s like he’s been confronted by the sun herself.
“You must be Logan! Virgil and Patton talk my ears off about you!” She pats his head, and continues, “The boys just adore you! It’s about time you came for dinner!”
He almost can’t speak, and both Virgil and Patton whine about her embarrassing them, but he nods, “Thank you for having me, but I’ve only known them for two weeks, Ma’am.”
The woman looks a little confused, then laughs joyously, “No need for that, kiddo! Just call me Lisa, okay?”
After patting him on the shoulder, she slinks by and greets all her children. Lilah has come back down, and the whole table is now filled to the brim. Dinner is filling and delicious, Patton really has a talent for the culinary arts. Which is strange considering Logan took him as someone who, like him, couldn’t cook to save his life.
After dinner, Patton brings Logan and Virgil to his room to hang out. They play video games, talk about anything they can manage, and by the time it’s late Logan is smiling. At nine, Elaine and Sophie are whining about Patton putting them to bed. Virgil and Logan wish them good night and Virgil drives Logan home.
“Logan, I’ve gotta ask...why did you agree to hang out with Patton?”
“Well...I’m not actually sure. I think that I needed it.”
“How do you mean?”
Logan looks out the window and thinks to himself. Why? He’s never had friends, or much of a close family. He figured he agreed because well…
“Patton has something I don’t. It helped me understand him better to see what he has.”
Virgil accepted that, but Logan wasn’t sure he understood it fully. He’s not even sure he does.
That night, Roman gets a negative two. Patton gets a ten, and written on his pages are the names and personalities of his family members. Along with that, is a very simple phrase.
I have concluded that Patton is, indeed, a very good person.
Why it took him this long to come to terms with, he will never understand.

May I Please Request A Fluff Where Loki Just Loves When Reader Plays With His Hair?
Thank you so much for the request 💗✨ I have added a little bit more plot to this prompt and I sincerely hope you enjoy the outcome of this 💚
*Loki x reader*
Imagine: When Loki gets sick while he is locked up in a cell in the Avengers compound, you are the only one he allows to take care of him.
Genre: fluffffff
Words: 3.5k
Tumblr media
"Alright, Steve and Natasha, you guys and Clint and the cyborg here, you take the jet and go in from above. Bruce, you supervise the whole thing from the camp and you're our backup if we need a little green in the picture." Tony said as he stood in the middle of the room with the whole team assembled around him. The Avengers were preparing for one of their newest missions and after thorough discussion, Tony had seen it to be his task to organize the whole thing.
"C'mon man, you know my name!" Bucky protested upon being given a stupid pet name by Tony once again. However Tony ignored him and continued in his explanation. "Thor, you lead everyone else on the ground. Circle them first, then attack. Understood?" He continued on and people all around him started to get going, taking their designated places.
"Y/n, you're staying here, no discussion. Everyone who's flying in, come with me." With that he finished, turning on his heel and starting for the door.
"What about me?" You protested, grabbing his arm before he could leave. "Why do I need to stay here?!"
With an exaggerated sigh Tony turned around, rolling his eyes. "What part of 'no discussion' didn't you understand? You're on duty to watch over Reindeer Games. Stay by his side, with every step he takes."
"Seriously?! Why is it always me who's supposed to watch him?" You groaned.
"Because you're the only one he doesn't want to murder in gruesome ways. And you like him."
"I don't…" You protested weakly, causing Tony to fake-laugh hysterically as he left.
"See you in two days!" He called back to you and a moment later the base went completely silent. Oh, you hated the Avengers sometimes… they could be so nice and welcoming, but also very (unintentionally?) oppressive at times. They had rescued you and you owed them your life, but… living here in the compound, going on missions and saving the world… it wasn't what you enjoyed, nor what you wanted for yourself.
With an annoyed sigh you sauntered towards the elevator and went down to the lowest level. Of course Tony knew about you and Loki… darn guy had cameras everywhere.
The faint ding of the elevator let you know that you arrived and with another sigh you made your way towards Loki's cell.
"Hey Loki, looks like we…" You stopped mid-sentence when you saw the illusion surrounding the cell. A few weeks ago Loki had taught you how to spot his illusions and you had felt like that was a huge step in your friendship. You knew you weren't supposed to befriend him, but over the months he had been locked up here you had grown rather fond of the trickster. And as it seemed, he had quite the inclination to you as well, so by now you had developed a solid friendship on the outside and a serious crush on him on the inside. If one could even still call it a crush...
"Loki?" You called, stepping to the edge of the cell to peak inside. "They're all gone, it's okay…"
A moment later the illusion wavered and finally disappeared completely, revealing a very pale Loki sitting on his poor excuse of a bed.
"Hey Y/n…" He greeted you with a weak smile. "Good to see you."
"No, not good at all! You look like a ghost with a fever!" You said with concern. It's been a few days since you'd last been able to visit him down here, but when you'd last seen him he had seemed completely fine.
"I'm not feeling good." He sighed. "Haven't for two days…"
"And no one bothered to check on you?!" You asked incredulously, already preparing a rant for Tony in your head.
"No one knew…" He replied rather calmly. "They don't see what you see."
"You mean the illusions?" You asked while unlocking the door to the cell. The others didn't like it when you got into the cell, but they weren't here right now and you didn't care about most of them even half as much as you did for Loki.
"Yeah, those and other things." He chuckled, which lead him to coughing roughly.
"Loki, you're sick! You should've told someone!" You protested as you walked over to the bed and sat down next to him. Screw getting sick… he needed your help!
"I don't trust those people. They probably would've taken the chance to end me once and for all." He grumbled.
"But you could've asked them to send me to you… or don't you trust me either?" You asked, sounding a lot more hurt than intended.
"I trust you Y/n, you know that…" He breathed tiredly, taking your hand in his. He's only done that once before and it made your heart race like crazy.
"You should've told me. Getting sick is nothing to be ashamed of." You said gently, drawing circles on his hand with your thumb, which made him hum quietly.
"I'm a god. I don't get sick." He protested with a pout, making you bite your lip to keep from laughing.
"You don't, until you did. Now please let me take care of you, okay?"
He nodded a little. "But don't tell the kids up there…"
"They're all gone. We're the only ones in the building." You assured him.
"Wish that would've happened at a different time…" He mumbled.
"So you could've used me to escape?" You smirked, shoving him a little to the side.
"So I could've escaped WITH you." He said with a smirk of his own. "You know that I wouldn't leave you behind, don't you?"
You nodded, hiding your furious blush by standing up. "Alright. How do we turn the cameras off?"
He looked up at you with a frown until you continued.
"No, we're not running. Even though I really want to, sometimes. But not today. And I'm not leaving you in this stupid cell when you're sick!"
He smiled at you so adoringly that you couldn't help but smile in return.
"So…" You said after a moment to break the tension that had fallen between you. "The cameras?"
"Don't know…" He sighed.
"YOU don't know? For once in how long?" You chuckled.
"The fact that I'm sick doesn't stop me from tackling you down right now and right here." He glared at you.
"That sounds like fun." You wiggled your eyebrows, making Loki cough-laugh.
"You wouldn't hurt me if your life depended on it." You grinned, and the feeling of utter pride spread in your chest.
"I hate you." He groaned.
"You don't!" You laughed, pulling him up to his feet.
"True, unfortunately…" He sighed and let you drag him to the edge of the cell.
"Can you manipulate the cameras so they stop recording?" You asked while unlocking the cell door.
"Usually I could. Right now… I can't." He said in annoyance, probably at himself.
"Could you teach me to do it?" You wondered.
"Actually…" He frowned for a moment, then his eyes light up ever so slightly. "Remember that thing I taught you last week?"
"Being invisible to someone's eye?"
"Yeah, it should also work with cameras. I never tried that, but there's a first time for everything." He shrugged.
"Alright…" You said and concentrated on the task, just like he had taught you. Your little attempts to learn more about magic had started a few months ago and honestly, it had been out of boredom on both your and Loki's side, even before you became friends. You'd been commanded to watch him and he'd been trying to find a way to amuse himself. So while you'd been sitting outside his cell, he had kept teasing you about how easy magic was and how everyone but him was incapable to do it. After a few hours you'd been fed up with his teasing and therefore simply imitated what he'd been doing to demonstrate his skills. To both your great surprise, you actually could do it on the first attempt. From that moment on, your relationship had changed and so had your opinion about each other.
"There, done." You smiled, content with your work. Then you pushed the door open and led Loki towards the elevators.
"You're such a quick study…" He chuckled deeply as you rode up to the main floor. "There are so many things I'm going to show you."
His voice made your skin crawl with excitement and your thoughts run wild, but you stopped yourself. "Right now you're not going to do anything but getting some rest."
"I could've done that in my cell…" He sighed. "Why did we have to go up here?"
"Because that thing you call a bed is no place to get proper rest. It even hurts to just sit on it for a few minutes!" You protested. "And I want to keep you around me without having to sit on the floor in your cell."
"Oh, so you're doing this for selfish reasons." He smirked. "I like that."
You smiled, but otherwise ignored the comment and led Loki towards your room. Yeah, it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do when you wanted to keep things between you on a friendship level for now. But to you, it was the most comfortable place in the compound and the only one you were sure Loki would enjoy as well.
You kicked your door open and walked into the room, sitting Loki down on your bed.
"So this is where you live?" He asked as he looked around. Even when sick, Loki was still incredibly attentive towards his surroundings and you admired that.
"Yeah. I mean I've been living here for the last two years, but you know… not really by choice." You sighed, picking up some random items from the floor and returning them to their place.
"I know… I wouldn't call my own cell 'home' either. Only that yours is better decorated."
The comment made you laugh and you watched Loki sitting on the edge of your bed for a while.
"You should lay down, you know… sleep a little. I promise you'll feel better afterwards." You smiled at him. "I'll even make you some soup if you're being nice."
"And if I'm not?" He grinned while still following your suggestion and laying down on top of the covers.
"I'll return you to your cell." You winked, still smiling at him. "And you look really uncomfortable, you know that? Battle armor isn't quite the right thing to sleep in."
With a groan he changed his clothes into a plain shirt and sweatpants. "Happy now?"
"I will be when you get under the covers and sleep."
"I don't want to."
"Please, Loki…" You sighed. "I know relentless teasing is an essential part of our relationship, but I'm seriously worried about you and I need you to get better before the others return."
"Why?" He asked, his voice finally turning hoarse from all the talking.
"Because they will actually end you if they find you outside of that cell and put me in it instead. And it's gonna be boring as heck without you and I don't want to be bored, so please, for once in your life just do what I tell you." You said with a certain sense of urgency that told Loki you were actually very serious about this.
"Okay." He said quietly, slipping under the covers and curling up into a ball.
To say you were surprised was an understatement. Sure, you've been friends for a while now, but he liked to keep the upper hand at all times. You could live with that and had gotten rather used to him arguing about basically anything you asked him to do only to finally compromise on something that worked for both of you. But having him at your mercy, vulnerable and ACTUALLY LISTENING to what you said… that was new.
"Try resting a little, I'll get you some soup and hot tea." You said quietly while replacing your battle gear with a simple sweatshirt.
"Thank you." Was all he said, keeping his eyes closed and hugging the covers tightly to his slender body.
As you walked to the kitchen, you couldn't help but wonder if he would still be there when you returned. It wasn't like you doubted his friendship or his sincerity in being sick, but you knew that he valued his freedom over absolutely anything else. And while you were desperately in love with the man in your bed, you doubted that he would know what romantic love even felt like. But that was fine, being upset about it would've been like being upset that one couldn't touch the stars. Some things simply are the way they are and you can't expect them to be different just because you wanted them to be. However when you returned to your room a good while later, you found Loki as you had left him, only that he'd turned around and had his back towards you now.
"I'm not sleeping." He sighed quietly once you entered the room. "Couldn't…"
"Sorry to hear that." You replied in the same tone. "I made you soup… I don't know if you'll like it, but I would very much appreciate it if you would try it, at least."
Without a single complaint he sat up and took the large bowl from you, leaving you to set the teapot and two mugs you had somehow managed to carry at once down on the nightstand.
Then you kicked off your shoes and sat down on the other side of the large bed, with your back against the headboard.
"This is probably the best food I've had in over a year." He commented at random, slowly emptying the bowl.
You smiled widely, enjoying the tingles his compliment gave you. "Glad to hear that. It's nothing special, just soup really…"
"Well, if anything, I was given some bread occasionally… until you started bringing me snacks." He smiled a little, placing the now empty bowl on the nightstand.
"I should've brought you proper food…" You sighed, cursing yourself for your cowardice.
"You did everything you could. I'm sure people would've noticed you bringing down more than what you did." He replied calmly and a while of silence followed with the two of you just sitting next to each other, Loki under the covers and you on top of them.
"Uh, do you want to sleep?" You finally asked.
"I wish I could" He grumbled, leaning his head against the headboard and closing his eyes.
"I can leave if you want." You suggested.
"No, I wish for you to stay." He hummed. "Your presence has a calming effect."
You chuckled. "A calming effect? Me?"
"I feel safer when you're around." He breathed, coughing, and your eyes widened upon hearing that. One could say a lot about Loki, but not that he was being open about his feelings. Ever.
"Okay…" You replied, both touched and surprised. "If you can't sleep… do you maybe want to watch a movie?"
"Haven't ever done that. So why not…?"
Quietly you got up, selected a film you thought he would enjoy and placed your laptop on top of the table at the end of the bed. Then you got back on it and under the covers.
"Thank you. For the soup and the tea." He said quietly and got comfortable next to you. Even if technically you didn't touch, you could still feel the heat of his body all the way on your skin.
For a few hours you simply sat next to each other, watching movie after movie in silence and drinking tea together. It had already gotten dark outside and your room was only illuminated by the screen of your laptop.
"I feel beyond tired." Loki sighed after hours of silence.
"Do you want to sleep?" You asked in return.
"Can't." He replied shortly, like he had done before.
"Why not?" You frowned, curious why he kept saying that. You knew that he did in fact sleep from time to time, even if only seldomly.
"Can't tell you."
"You can't or you don't want to?" You turned your head to him, leaning it again the headboard. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. But please tell me if there's anything I can do to help… to make it better?"
He sighed, turned to look away, sighed again and looked back at you. "Do you remember that one time when you won the bet about the witch and the robot man?"
"You mean Wanda and Vision? Sure, I said they were totally in love and you said they weren't. I definitely won that one." You grinned, relishing the memory.
"Yeah, but do you remember your… prize, for winning?" He sounded both eager for you to remember and wishful that you wouldn't.
"Oh, I definitely do!" You smiled. "I got to braid your hair."
"And I said I hated it."
"Yeah, you did." You laughed at the memory of angry Loki with an Elsa braid.
"That was a lie."
"Oh." You said in surprise. Usually you could see through his lies, but that one you must've missed.
"Do it again."
"Braiding your hair?"
"Not…" He halted, closing his eyes and looking very much torn and you realized that asking for something like this must indeed be very hard for him.
"I know." You smiled gently at him and sat down accordingly. "Come here…"
With one last doubtful glance, he laid down with his head in your lap, wrapping himself around you as closely as he could. Gently you placed your hand on his head, collecting a few loose strands of hair from his face. With a small smile you let yourself play with his hair, brushing it with your hands and letting small strands run through your fingers like tiny black rivers.
The moment held such an intimacy it made your eyes flutter shut in pure delight and comfort. How could anyone think that this fragile being in your lap was a monster… you made a silent promise to end anyone who dared to think like that.
"My mother used to do this when I was having nightmares as a child." His deep voice broke the silence after a few blissful minutes.
You felt your eyes water, but you smiled nonetheless. He never talked about his family. "I'm sure she is an amazing woman."
"She was incredible…" His voice was but a mere whisper. "Just like you are."
In that very moment your heart burst with love and adoration and you couldn't say anything for a moment, lost in the overwhelming feelings. So he continued.
"I cannot sleep because of the nightmares. Horrible, haunting dreams that would simply break me. Normally I can keep them away for a while, with magic, but now… I cannot." He said quietly. "I'm scared, Y/n… Scared of waking up to the those dreams becoming my reality."
You willed away the huge lump in your throat and the shaking of your hands. "Loki…"
"Please Y/n… don't." He replied quietly, still holding onto you tightly. "Don't pity me. I don't deserve it."
"No… You deserve better." You said determinedly and scooted yourself lower to lay next to him, allowing Loki to hug you even closer while you wrapped your arms around him.
"I'm here. And I will be here when you wake up." You said as you placed your head on top of his, continuing to play with his hair. "I'm not much, but I'm all yours."
Loki sighed softly and for a while everything was silent. Comfortably silent, and you felt tempted to fall asleep yourself, but then his hold on you tightened even more.
"Y/n…" His voice was already heavy with sleep, but you were so close that you could hear his every breath. "I love you."
Your heart skipped a beat and you could feel him smile against you. So you smiled as well. "I love you too."
And for the first time in forever, Loki slept deeply and soundly, and without a single nightmare.

Bonus:
When the team returned from their mission, they found the compound deserted and with no camera footage of the last two days.
"What the actual hell has been going on?!" Tony shouted as he walked through the hallways.
"Tony… you should come to the living room." Natasha called from the distance.
Once he got there, she handed him a piece of paper. It was neatly written by hand and with a frown, he started to read.
Dear Avengers.
To make it short: Loki and I are gone, as you probably noticed. The possibility that you will find us is kind of non-existent, but we would very much appreciate to see you trying. However, you will find very little reason to bother yourselves with us. Loki promises that he won't attack earth again, or any other planet, and I promise that I'll make sure that he keeps said promise. Tony told me to watch over him and stay with him, every step of the way. And I'm dead set on doing just that.
With kind regards,
Y/n

Hello! If it isn't much hassle, can I have a male matchup (survivors), please?
(Also I'm a girl)
Normally at first I'm a very shy and quiet person and I don't usually show how I feel, but I'm also very friendly and it's easy to get along with everybody. I'm quite introverted and reserved (I have social anxiety), it's difficult to me to talk to others, but I have no problem with them talking to me (although I may be a little nervous and quiet at first, it depends on the person I can let go faster). With my close friends I sometimes become noisy and can talk a lot, I never hide my emotions and I am as honest as possible, I never hide anything from them. Although sometimes I can be too frank and sincere, according to them (I can accidentally say things that can hurt others.).
I am a fairly educated person and I hate to be rude or violent, but sometimes with my friends who are specifically men I am sometimes more aggressive and tough, but if it bothers them I stop (it's just that I am used to being this way with men). I have a sarcastic humor (the ones that I usually bother with this are my male friends, but if it bothers them I stop) and according to my friends I am quite funny, above all I make them laugh with my expressions, gestures and tone of voice (which are very transparent and clearly demonstrate what I am thinking or feeling).
I am a very perceptive person and just by looking or listening to someone I can tell how that person is. I like to help others and whenever I can I let my friends (or the people around me) know that if something happens they can count on me and that I will always be there when they need me, either just to listen, give advice, be a shoulder to cry or just be there. If someone doesn't want to tell me something, nothing happens, I don't want them to tell me something they don't want (I'm a very understanding person).
Though I never tell anyone my problems. I generate many self-destructive and toxic tendencies towards myself. I don't have self-esteem and I demand and abuse myself a lot. Sometimes I tend to distrust others because they have taught me all my life to distrust everyone (especially people close to me) and I have quite a few traumas. But I don't tell anyone out of fear that they will think I am weak and hate me. I have the constant fear that this will happen, that others will think ill of me, that they will harm me, that I will hurt and not be useful. Only the people I trust and love the most have been told about my insecurities and can see me in my worst moments without me feeling guilty about it.
I'm a pretty fragile person, it's easy to make me feel bad, stress and hurt, plus it's very easy to make me cry. But I only show this to people I really trusted (seeing me crying without containing my emotions is my greatest show of trust). I'm very affectionate person, I really like to give affection to my close friends (even the boys) if they don't mind it and I also use to say openly how much I care and that I love them (in a Platonic way). Finally, I do very well drawing, singing (I have a very sweet and pretty voice when I sing, when I speak although it is also quite sweet and nice to listen to is also very moldable), writing and quite a lot more! (although I find it hard to see my achievements and only realize when someone tells me so, I am very critical of myself and constantly need the approval of others).
Thank you and have a good day!
you're welcome!! i would like to hear you sing someday :" i can rap.. dunno if that counts tho.
i match you with... william ellis!
OKAY HEAR ME OUT i have this one in the bag
william is able to keep up with your slightly more playful-aggressive behaviour towards men. you two probably play fight a lot.
when you two meet, you contradict eachother.
william is very excitable and bold, whereas you're very reserved and introverted.
he definitely isn't afraid to strike up a conversation with you while you're decoding and is able to get you to loosen up a lot around him.
later on, you get ballooned in the match by mary and william's like "hey! anyone wanna see the record time for someone losing their kneecap privileges?" and tackles mary with everything he's got.
you win the match and after that you start talking more!
and after that, with a bit of pushing from vera, you two FINALLY confess to eachother.
so prepared to never go on chair again! william is always going to rescue you and every hunter is now terrified of you two being matched together. they just leave you alone.
if there's a new hunter and the other hunters forget to tell them about the two of you? god bless their poor soul for even trying to chair you.
you two count on eachother, you rely on him and he relies on you.
william learns very quickly that you are very fragile and tries his best to learn your cues or changes in behaviour when you're having a bad day.
you'll have to be really honest with him for a while before he finally starts realising when you're upset, but even then he may not ask and instead show that he's there for you through his actions.
please, keep your honesty with him. william isn't the smartest socially, he's always been like a class clown sort of person.
you make him laugh a lot! you make jokes while decoding together and william literally fails every calibration or just sinks to the floor laughing because you're too funny.
he wants you to feel loved and protected, so after a bad day, he's dragging you into bed and cuddling you until either he falls asleep or you do.
he sometimes runs baths for you when you're down or stressed out, but he may flood the bathroom with bubbles... but it adds character to the bath!
if you open up to him about your problems, he'll definitely try help you out the best he can - tell him how, or suggest subtly and he's already asking helena what it means and what he can do to help.
he will definitely listen to you rant or vent and try suggest solutions to your problems.
if you want to, he'll take you on his training exercises to help work your anger / sadness out of your system.
also, draw him. he will model for you. he will model for you just so he can show off his abs but it really powers his ego if you draw him with the abs.
OH and sing for him!! he would really want to listen to you sing quietly while decoding, or hum when you're writing something or mumbling lyrics to yourself when trying to sleep. he adores your voice and really just wants you to put on a show for him one day where you sing your heart out on the stage but it's just him there, starstruck AND lovestruck.
he sees you as a very strong person, so you opening up to him makes him see you as like... "hey! i can move a mountain" sort of strong.
you're the light of his life- when he hasn't seen you all day, he'll lift you up into his arms and give you the most passionate kiss of your life.
he loves you so much, he never wants to let you go.
ok!! thank u for requesting (saying this for the 2nd time) and i hope you enjoyed these :)

Homecoming - 1
Tumblr media
"Everyone is going to be out of the office today greeting soldiers home. You can write that letter today." Hyungwon told her as he came into her office.
"Yes sir." Cora responded immediately.
"Don't rush yourself. Just take your time and write naturally. You're an amazing conversationalist and sometimes it's easier with writing."
Cora nodded her head, waiting for Hyungwon to tell her he's disappointed she's not going today.
"I'm not disappointed." He said, reading her face clearly.
"What?" She asked, looking up at him.
"I can see it all over your face. You're waiting for me to yell at you or be disappointed you're not coming. I understand why you can't. There will always be more, so take all the time you need."
Cora exhaled a deep breath when her boss left.
He said he wasn't mad, he said he wasn't disappointed...but Cora wasn't sure if that was a lie or not.
Not wanting to think about it any further, she got out her stationary and set out writing her letter.  She didn't have more than a name, but that was enough for her.
-----
"Private Lee, you got mail!" Jooheon heard his Sargent yell toward his tent.
"Sir, I've not gotten mail the whole time I've been here.  It's not for me." Jooheon said as he came out of the tent.
"Unless there another Lee Jooheon stationed in your tent, this is definitely for you."
Jooheon's heart rate picked up as he quickly made his way over to his Sargent's outstretched hand.
He took the thin envelope and inspected it carefully.
"Thanks Shownu." Jooheon said quietly.
Shownu went rigid, his body wanting to correct the man, tell him he should always be addressed as Sargent, but he stopped himself.  He knew this was big for Jooheon.
"You're welcome."
Jooheon didn't go back to his tent. He went to the little clearing between his tent and the mess hall and sat on his favorite rock.
With shaky hands, he opened the letter.
April 23rd
Lee Jooheon,
Jooheon. Private Lee...what is the proper way to greet a soldier? I'm still unsure. Please correct any error that I make in addressing you, I'd hate to offend you upon first impression.
Jooheon didn't know who had written him this letter, but he could only smile through watery eyes.
My name is Cora and I work for a non profit organization called Homecoming.  We help soldiers transition back into civilian life after deployments as well as while on deployments. You had stated upon enlistment that you have no familial ties or anyone to help care for you while you are away. That's where I come in.
I'm here to be your tie to the outside world, should you want that. This is by no means something you're obligated to do, but I'm here should you need anything.
I can be a friend, a confidant, a sender of items. Whatever you need.
I mean, I don't have the money or means to send you a new car, but I think you get it.
Should you not want or need anything, please disregard this letter. I don't want to be a burden on your already hectic life.
I don't really know how to talk about myself, but I've been told basic information is a good way to start.
As I mentioned, my name is Cora. I'm 25 and I am working on my undergrad degree in writing. It takes a while because I'm doing it part time online, but I enjoy it a lot.
I have a brother named Changkyun. He's younger than me and obnoxious most days, but he's my rock. He's been there for me through… Everything I've ever gone through.
My best friend is Naomi. She's beautiful and elegant. She's a therapist and the smartest person I've ever met in my life.  We could not be more polar opposite if we tried.
Honestly, that's really it. I don't keep many people close, but the ones I have make up for it tenfold. They're amazing people and I'm lucky to have them in my life.
Please let me know if there's anything you want or need and I'll be sure to get it to you as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Cora
P.S. Oh! I have a cat named Toast. I thought that'd be worth mentioning.
Jooheon couldn't stop smiling, even if he wanted to.
He read the letter and then reread so many times he'd lost count.
He walked back to his tent, letter folded neatly in his pocket.
"You've been gone a long time." His bunkmate commented.
"Yeah, sorry. I…I got a letter."
"Wait! Seriously? From who?" Kihyun asked.
"Her name is Cora. She works for a place called Homecoming. Said she'd be my tie to the outside world."
"Are you going to write her back?" Kihyun asked.
"Absolutely. I can only live through you and Minhyuk so much. It'll be nice to have someone else to talk to."
"That's awesome. I'm happy for you."
Jooheon smiled at his friend before going to his bed and getting out his paper.
"Not wasting any time are you?" Kihyun laughed.
"Not even a second"
------
Cora was sitting in her office a couple weeks later, worrying she'd offended Jooheon. He'd yet to write back, so she assumed she'd be getting nothing from him.
"Cora, what's up?" Naomi asked her.
Naomi was in having lunch with her.
"Just worried. What if he doesn't write back?" Cora asked.
"You told me you gave him the option not to." Naomi pointed out.
"I did, but I guess I expected something back. I'm an idiot"
"No you're not. If he doesn't write back, that's okay too ya know. Doesn't mean you did anything wrong."
"I know...I mean I think I know."
"Listen, just focus on the right now and don't worry about anything else."
"I know I know...if it doesn't matter in a year, it doesn't matter now. The therapist is coming out in you." Cora laughed.
"I can't help it." Naomi shrugged.
"I better get back, I have a client coming in right after lunch. Call me so we can get dinner tonight." Naomi said, gathering up her stuff.
"I wouldn't forget. It's Friday night."
Every Friday for the last six years has been spent at dinner with Naomi. In the last six years they'd only missed a hand full of dinners, and they were extreme cases.
-----
Cora was finalizing a list of items needed for the newly returned when her coworker Jason stepped into her office.
She tensed up immediately.
"Got big plans tonight?" He asked casually.
"Dinner." Cora answered.
"You're never free. Maybe I can take you out to dinner tomorrow?" He asked.
"No thank you." She responded, remembering Naomi's words. She needed to tell Jason no on his advances and not skirt around them.
"What? Why not?" He asked, clearly offended.
"I don't want to." She said honestly. Her voice was quiet and she could feel herself shaking slightly.
"Well that's rude. What'd I ever do to you?"
The further in to her office he walked, the more tense she become. Every muscle in her body was telling her to run.
"Please leave my office." Cora finally said.
"What the fuck? Why are you kicking me out? I just want to take you out."
"And I'm assuming she said no. And ya know, that's definitive and needs no explanation. No means no...no matter what the situation."
Cora looked up to see her brother standing in the doorway.
"Jesus, fine." Jason said, holding his hands up in surrender before leaving her office.
"Fuck that guy." Her brother said as he walked over to his desk.
"What are you doing here?" Cora asked him.
"Came to pick you up. I dropped your car off at the shop earlier to get your brakes changed, remember? The guys already took it home for ya."
"Right, right. I forgot"
"You alright?" Changkyun asked
"I'm fine. Let's take off."
-----
The ride home was quiet, Cora thinking about the exchange in her office a bit ago.
She didn't know how else to tell Jason no and he was starting to freak her out.
"We're here. Have fun with Naomi at Friday Night Dinner." Her brother said, breaking her from her thoughts.
"Always." Cora said, smiling at her brother.
"Oh! Cora" he said, leaning out his open window.
"Hyungwon told me to give you this but that douchebag made me forget."
Changkyun handed her an envelope before waving and driving away.
It was a letter from Jooheon.
Cora stared at for a long moment, wondering if she were imagining things.
She ran into her house before carefully opening the letter.
May 2nd
Cora,
Thank you for your letter. It's much appreciated and very surprising. You can call me whatever you like, but Jooheon is definitely just fine. I get enough people screaming Private Lee at me while here.
It makes me happy to know that places like Homecoming exist. There are many men and women who go through much worse than me, so having help is going to do great things for them. And for me too.
I'd hate to ask for anything, we did just meet. Kind of bummed that new car is off the table though ^_^.
In all seriousness though I could honestly use a good toothbrush. Mine from home didn't last as long as I thought they would and the issued ones here are horrible. If not, please disregard.
Going through school slowly isn't a bad thing. You don't get burned out as fast and you can really get a grasp of what you're learning. I think that's awesome.
I'm not good with talking about myself either, but here we go.
I'm Lee Jooheon. I graduated top of my highschool class, but didn't attend college. I’m also 25. I have no siblings or family, but I have a couple good friends I met over here.
Kihyun is nice, but pretty motherly to be honest. Makes sure I've eaten and get decent sleep. He’s my bunkmate and self proclaimed best friend.
Minhyuk is...something else entirely.  He’s hyper and sings too loudly. He’s definitely the mood maker of us.  Makes our time go by faster, which is never a bad thing.
The other two people in our pseudo group aren’t really friends, but they’re not not my friends either...does that make sense?
The first one is Shownu.  He’s my Sargent. He’s awkward and tough, but one of the best guys you’ll ever meet in your life.  If Kihyun is my mom, Shownu is definitely my dad.
Lastly, there’s Wonho.  He’s an enigma, that man.  He’s tall and buff as hell and looks like he could kill you with the snap of his fingers (and ya know what...he just might be able to) but he’s the softest person I’ve ever met.  He gets homesick and cries when watching ASPCA commercials on TV.
Speaking of TV, that might be what I miss the most while stationed here.  TV and music.
So... since neither of us are good at talking about ourselves, I’ll ask some questions throughout our letters.  You don’t have to answer of course, but it’s a good way to keep conversation going.
What’s your favorite color (cliche...but important!)
Mine would be cyan.
Hope to hear back from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jooheon
P.S. I love cats! What color is Toast? (That is such an awesome name for a cat by the way)
