Started my fourth Annie Ernaux book of 2023 today. I don't know what's this grasp she holds on my ability to read lately but I mean apart from her works I only feel like reading Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar and. Well.

failed exams
-> asmo x mc (platonic or romantic)
-> asmo comforts mc after recieving some upsetting news
mc's gender is not mentioned, not proof read
content warnings: stress due to school stuff, crying
-----
'Oh nooo, Mc! I lost my shoe somewhere.' Asmo sighed dramatically while rolling over onto his back on the bed next to you. You showed him the Cinderella movie last night and now he's obsessed with 'hiding' one of his shoes and having you put it back on him. He keeps staring at you with his amber eyes until you start looking for the shoe. You laughed a little before getting ready to go find the shoe he always hides under the bed, but your ddd pinged with an incoming email at that exact moment. You got a slight glimpse at the lit up screen, and your heart sank.
'Asmo hold on I got an email from RAD.' you explained. You've never recieved an email from the school before, and Asmo too could sense something was going on. He sat up straight on the bed and read the email with you.
Dear Mc,
We regret to inform you the results you scored on the last exam period were not sufficient enough to be classified as passing grades. We cannot enroll you in further courses as long as you have not passed your classes from your last semester.
However, we wish to give you a chance to retake these exams. These retake exams will take place in two weeks. We advice you to carefully revise the contents of your lectures and books.
We wish you luck with your studies.
Sincerely, RAD team
While you stared blankly at your screen, trying to process what you just read, you could hear Mammon yelling 'damn it' from the living room, Levi laughing very loudly, followed by what sounds like an angry Lucifer chasing Mammon who's escaped the house (save poor mammon). 'Oh! I remember!' Asmo suddenly broke the silence after a while of silence. 'At the last meeting, Diavolo said they'd send an email to those who failed three or more exams.' Your heart dropped again. Seriously? you failed at least three out of the five exams? At least you're not alone in it. Still, you were fighting tears.
The look of pure horror on your face was enough to make Asmo gently embrace you. 'Hey, listen..' he spoke gently, trying to make you feel more at ease. 'Hon, I probably failed some exams too, it's okay, and you can retake them so that's good news, right?' You sought comfort in his hug, carefully pressing yourself closer to him. 'I know it's just.. I worked so hard.' there was a slight crack in your voice and that was when the tears started. Asmo immediately dried your tears with his sleeve. 'It's okay, I'm sure Satan will be happy to tutor you.' he reassured you. 'Just make sure to show up at the right time.' the demon chuckled a little before continuing his story. 'One time Satan was supposed to tutor me but I went shopping instead and ignored all his 'where are you' texts. Guess what that evil guy did.' You smiled a little at Asmo's attempt to cheer you up, which he in turn immediately noticed. 'He went into my bathroom and dissolved all my expensive bath bombs in the sink! I was so mad I almost destroyed half of this house!' You let out a faint laugh. 'Is that why you installed a lock on your bathroom door?' Asmo nodded. 'Yeah! So no crazy blond brother of mine can go inside to bring destruction upon it again.' he slightly released his grip on you when he noticed you were less upset now. He completely forgot about the shoe he hid under the bed as he kissed you on the cheek.
'Hm, anyways, I know you'll do well next time. I believe in you, Mc.'

It was a Friday night, which meant study time for you since finals were coming up and you were very stressed, to say the least. You were just finishing up a practice problem when you heard your front door open, pausing your music, you got up. You quietly began to open your door when a bleach-blonde boy beat you to it. You let out a big breath, that you didn't even know you were holding once you saw him. You jokingly pushed him, “Ricky seriously? I thought you were coming to kill me.” His face lit up in a smile and brought you close.
“Well, maybe you shouldn’t have your door unlocked next time.” He gave you a look, you swore you locked it when you came home but who knows? He sighed, “I missed you.” And gave you his heart-melting smile and loving eyes. He finally brought you in for a kiss, it was slow, both of you trying to make up for all the time you’ve been apart, but not trying to rush it cause there was no need to. You both broke apart and there was a small smile on your face, one on his too. “Wow, 2 years together and I still make you blush that easy?” You covered up your face embarrassed, because it truly was, he shouldn’t be able to make you feel this way with something so simple. He began to protest and after much struggle, got your hands off your face and kissed you again, and again, all over.
You finally got free of this menace once you pushed him onto your bed, “Now you leave me alone, I have to finish studying then I’m all yours, promise.” He got up quickly and finally remembered why he was there.
“Oh no you’re not, why do you think I’d be here so late? I’m forcing you to take a break, and we also haven’t been on a date in a while and I personally think it’s the perfect night for strawberry milkshakes?” You couldn’t resist him with the way he was looking at you, you just couldn’t. He looked at you like you were all the stars in the universe and he was mesmerized by you, which he truly was, he’s never loved someone as much as he does you. It was a new thing for Ricky, but he’d give you the world, or the whole solar system if you truly asked for it.
“Fine, let me change real quick, you’ll be fine for like 4 minutes right?” His face lit up, he didn’t think you’d actually agree. He shook his head excitedly and practically ran out of your room, to give you privacy.
You found Rick on the couch looking at his phone when you were done, he was shaking his leg like he was nervous. “What’s got you so worked up?” You sat next to him and faced him. He jumped at your presence.
“Hm? Oh! Nothing…” You looked at him worried and took his hand in yours.
“Baby, seriously what it is?” His face changed to a sad one.
“It’s just… the milkshake shop is closed tonight, I’m sorry I didn’t know.” His face looked like the sad face emoji, quite literally ☹️. You laughed at how cute your boyfriend was.
“That’s what's got you so down?” He shook his head. “Ricky, sweetie, you know there’s another one like 5 minutes from ours, right?” He was dumbfounded, he couldn’t believe he just acted like that over a milkshake shop when there was another one.
“Oh, well then what are we waiting on, let's go!” He got up quickly and took your hands and practically dragged you to his car, almost forgetting to lock your door.
The two of you sat in comfortable silence on the drive to the shop. Soft music playing, you had your window rolled down and was laying on the door watching the scenery pass by. Ricky wanted to watch you and how pretty you looked with the city lights shining on your face and the slight wind blowing through your hair, he thought you looked gorgeous.
You were both pulled out of your tranced when Ricky pulled up to the bright and colorful shop. He got our first and quickly went to open your door before you could even unbuckle. You slightly laughed at his romantic antics and reached for the hand he held out for you. He pulled you in close as it was a little chilly, and he doesn’t want you to be cold. When you stepped into the store a worker greeted you and you greeted them back. Ricky wrapped his arms around your shoulders as you both looked at what milkshakes they had and when your eyes both landed on strawberry, you smiled at each other, perfect. “Go sit, I’ll get the drinks, okay?” You nodded and went to go find a booth somewhere in a corner. Surprisingly this place was busy for it being night time. Once you found a good one, you sat down but were taken aback by how cold the vinyl was and it caused you to shiver. Ricky saw that, shaking his head, he took off his grey jacket and handed it to you. You took it with mild protest and thanked him. He scooted next to you and quickly took your hand, which was ice cold. “Y/n, your hands are freezing, are you sick?” He began feeling your entire body and placing his hand on your forehead. Shaking your head you removed his hands from you and held them, “Ricky, we’re in an ice cream parlor… it’s freezing in here.”
“Right… yeah totally. I mean I’m not cold, but okay.” Just as you were gonna complain about his antic, a waiter brought your milkshakes out.
“Two strawberry milkshakes with rainbow sprinkles.” He smiled at you two and left after thanking him. Ricky began to ask about school once you both got comfortable.
“It’s okay, I guess, just stressful.” You said carefully drinking your shake, even talking about school made you stressed and Ricky caught on.
“So there’s a new Spiderman Movie coming out, Gyu and Yujin want us to go since they know you like Spiderman.” The thought of Ricky’s friends knowing that about you and you didn’t even tell them made you smile to yourself. I mean it’s not like you thought Ricky never talked about you, but actually getting confirmation made you feel all giddy.
“Oh yeah? And how would they know that, Hm?” He almost choked on his drink once you said that. His reaction was enough to perfectly confirm it.
“I mean everyone likes Spiderman, so just a guess, I guess.” He tried to play it off cool, but very much failed, by how much his voice wavered.
You both sat there talking about whatever for about an hour or so. Just as you were finishing up your drink, you yawned. “Are you tired, Love? We can leave?” No sleepily shook your head, “No, no, I’m fine Ricky. What were you saying about the new choreo?” He sighed annoyingly but continued anyways.
Another 30 minutes pass and you can barely keep your eyes open, “Okay, yeah, Y/n I’m taking you home. Come on.” You nod and get up lazily and walk to the car. In a matter of seconds of you laying your head down, you were out. Ricky laughed at how pretty you managed to look while sleeping. He brushed the hair out of your eyes before taking off back to your dorm.
Ricky softly shook you awake once you arrived, “Love, hey, we’re home.” You got out of the car and he walked you up to your door. When you unlocked it and looked back at him, he looked like he was saying goodnight, but you stopped him.
“Stay the night?” You didn’t have to ask him twice. He nodded, maybe a little too eagerly, which caused you to smile. He followed you like a puppy as you went into your room and started searching for clothes he’s left here countless other times. Once you were both changed into more comfy clothes you laid down and laid on his chest. He kissed your head.
“Goodnight y/n, I love you.” He held you close, almost like you were gonna disappear by morning. He was waiting for a response, but your soft snoring said enough.

Ok, I have been waiting for weeks and praying about it if I wanted to share my now written chapters of my au of TMNT. I have been slowly dropping art of my version here and there on my page, but I decided to just GO FOR IT. :) So, without further ado, here's the first chapter of my au. :)
CHAPTER 1. A Stranger in Our Home
Lotus' mind pounded with every beat of her heart. Her body ached from the blood that had slowly been drained from it. But as she started to gain consciousness, she realized something about her wrists:
Nothing was on them.
She rotated her hands to check for the familiar, painful chafing of the metal wrapped around it.
Nothing. No annoying jangles of chains. No constricting pressure digging into her skin.
And then she noticed she had been sleeping in a fetal-position.
She wasn't on the examination table.
Her hands shakily stroked across the thick fabric beneath her.
She was on a bed. A REAL BED. Not the hard floor, but a soft, indulgent MATTRESS.
As she turned onto her back, her eyes and body jolted feeling something wrapped around her. Memories flashed through her mind as she flinched, waiting for whatever it was that was restraining her to constrict, once again cutting off all circulation.
But... nothing happened.
She timidly opened her eyes to see.. a blanket? But it wasn't paper-like or smelled weird.. It was soft and heavy.. WARM. ..
' Where am I??'
In complete honesty, she didn't really care where she was. She would be fully content to sleep till she was dead.
...
" DUDES THERE'S ANOTHER TURTLE IN LEO'S BED!! WHO THE HECK IS THAT? "
Michelangelo ran into the kitchen interrupting the meeting between his older brothers and Sensei.
" Mikey, chill. " Raphael snapped, " We found her in one of the cells. We don't know who she is yet."
"- And judging by how sick she looked when we found her she will need LOTS OF REST, SO SHHHH!"
Mikey knew Donatello could be trusted to know what to do in such a sitch as this. And Raph- Raph was just being himself.
" As soon as she wakes up I need to check her vitals and address any of her injuries. From how she looked when Don brought her in, I'll have my work cut out for me for the next 48 hours.."
Mikey watched his oldest brother, Leonardo, as he paced back and forth in worry. His face had a seriousness molded on that Mikey wasn't comforted by. When Leo was this graven, it always meant he was mentally preparing for the worst. Like when Mikey broke his ankle attempting to try the ' Triple Corkscrew Turntable' on his skateboard. HE HAD NO IDEA HIS ANKLE COULD EVER BEND THAT WAY..
AND LEO WAS NOT HAPPY.. He had that same face when he realized he needed to snap Mikey's ankle back into place. Needless to say, it wasn't a fun time for either of them.
Tumblr media
" My sons, we must welcome this sickly stranger into our home. She's tired, injured, and probably very frightened. I sense a great weight of pain in her spirit."
Master Splinter's calm voice helped soothe Mikey's racing mind. Sensei always knew best. However hard he was on the brothers during training, he was still very kind and caring when they needed him to be.
One time when he was about 4 years old, the brothers were all playing hide n' seek in the Lair. But this time Raph had the idea to hide everyone in the one room that was OFF LIMITS: Sensei's Study. It didn't take long before Splinter caught the little tots sneaking around in his private room. When he began demanding an explanation of why they were in there, Don slyly stated,
" We were playing hide n' seek. And YOU taught us to always be unpredictable in training class, so we hid in the most unpredictable spot!"
Instead of annoyance or anger, Splinter's face lit with a smile.
" I suppose I did teach you that, my studious son.. But there's a difference between doing something unpredictable, and doing something downright foolish.. NO TV FOR A WEEK."
" Senseiiiiii..."
" IT WAS RAPH'S IDEA! HE'S THE FOOLISS ONE!!" "
"- HEY!!!"
" PAPA PWEASE DON'T TAKE AWAY DA TEVEEEEEE!!"
Hope you guys enjoyed my work!! :) If you have any questions, I'd be happy to try to answer them! Have a great day, everyone! :)

Starry Eyed: TNG FC Solkar x Fem! Reader (1/3)
A/N: He looks just like a dream, the prettiest Vulcan I've ever seen. Thank you for the compliment! Apparently, there is very little on Solkar x Readers so as far as I know I'm the first one. I had so much fun with this that I had to write a two-shot!
Prompt: Solkar Meet-Cute
Tumblr media
The rain of Terran was always a curious sight for the Vulcan visitors. Today the heavy spring rains brought a strong gust of cold winds. Solkar and his crew took shelter in some of the makeshift buildings of the encampment. Solkar had just finished discussing the next steps in introducing the next Vulcan diplomacy to the Terran governments.
He was about to return to his ship when the downpour started. Noticing that others had taken shelter from the rain, he followed suit. He followed quite a few Terrans entering a social gathering place he had visited when he first arrived. He found himself spending much of his idle hours there studying the alien life forms.
It was dimly lit with tables and chairs scattered around a central counter. The Terrans referred to it as "a bar". People were sitting and talking amongst themselves. A few glanced up at him and his associates. It seems as if they were still getting used to the idea of having foreigners on their planet. Solkar took a seat nearest the window to observe the rainfall.
He had been fascinated by Terran's weather patterns. He also found observing Terran's social practices to be just as interesting. Fortunately for him, his orders were to remain at the camp until the delegates arrived. He was rather grateful to remain and observe the new surroundings of the "Montanas".
Especially since a particular Terran had caught his attention. She was the "Bartender" a young Terran female around her mid to late thirties. Solkar found her presence most agreeable since she seemed to always take their dietary needs very seriously. She noticed him and his colleagues sitting furthest away, but that didn't stop her from coming up to greet them.
"Good Afternoon, Gentlemen." She smiled pulling out a writing tool and paper, "What can I do for you?"
"We are taking shelter from the rain," Solkar stated bluntly, "We do not require any refreshments or meals. We shall merely observe."
She nodded putting the items back into her pocket. "Well it might be a while, if you change your mind, don't hesitate to ask."
She turned and disappeared into the swarm. Solkar watched as she continued her work. She carried heavy trays, broke up a few fights, and even helped another Terran stop crying. They certainly did not hide their feelings from each other.
By the time the rain stopped, it was long past nightfall. His crew returned to the ship but he lingered behind. The bar was empty except for the two of them. He watched as she cleaned the remains of the patrons away. An old song crooned softly from the deteriorated radio. Solkar was soothed by the strange calm. That was until Cochrane stumbled in, his face red and flushed.
"(Y/N), can you fix me a drink." He begged.
"The bar is closed, and I cut you off yesterday!" She glowered at him putting her hands on her hips.
"Come one, just one." He looked around desperately and noticed Solkar. He smiled and walked up to him. He clasped Solkar's shoulders and smiled at her. "I don't think our friend here has had a chance to try it?"
"Zef," She scolded in a warning tone, "The last thing we should do is poison "our friend"."
Cochrane laughed and let go of Solkar walking up to (Y/N) arms open. "Come one, just for old time's sake."
She rolled her eyes, "Fine sit down. I'll make you a drink."
Zef wrapped his arms around her and gave her a quick squeeze before releasing her. She waved him off then returned to the counter and disappeared behind it. Cochrane sat down across from Solkar.
"How are you liking Earth so far?" Cochrane asked Solkar
"I find your social behaviors differ greatly from ours," He said looking back at the bar. "I am curious about your," Solkar paused, thinking for a moment.
Zefram leaned in, "Women?"
Solkar turned to him and nodded slightly.
"Well, they shouldn't be too different from the ones on your planet?" Cochrane said with a laugh, "Who is it?"
Before Solkar could respond, (Y/N) returned with a drink for Cochrane. She placed it down on the table and he quickly snatched it up.
"Hey! There's no booze!" He complained.
"I told you I'd make you a drink, just not what kind." She said winking, "Now finish up so I can go to bed I'm tired."
She waited for Zefram to finish his drink before shooing them both away. Once outside Solkar looked up into the night sky, it was completely void of stars. He assumed that the clouds had not fully passed similar to the clouded thoughts in his own mind. He was pulled away from his observation by Zefram who tapped his shoulder. He waved Solkar over to his dwelling.
The inside of Cochrane's dwelling was just as disorganized as his workshop. There were papers, books, clothes, and materials scattered all over. Solkar watched in silence as Zefram dug through an old storage container.
"Here," he said pulling out an old tattered book, "Try this."
Solkar took the book, on the cover was a man with long yellow hair, and a very busty woman leaning against him. He was very confused and nodded toward Cochrane as thanks then promptly exited.
Solkar thought about what Zefram had said. He had not observed human mating rituals before. Perhaps this would give him insight.

Suppression Ch 2
!!!WARNING MENTIONS OF BLOOD AND TORTURE READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
()()()( 2 )()()()
Golden eyes squinted as the chamber they were in lit up with torches mounted high in the walls, softly glowing runes carved along the floor zapped at the golden simian’s strength his arms held taut from his body kneeling on the ground with a dark silver band around his throat.
Shade stormed into the chamber, furiously marching over to the kneeling king. “What the hell have you been keeping from me?” He gripped the golden monkey’s hair and jerked his head up. “What did you do to our mate?!” The false king roared.
Wukong grunted slightly. “I never got to mate with him,” Wukong answered. “As for what I haven't told you. That's not for you to know.” Wukong snarked. ‘Now I know why Mac never liked it when I was like this during the demon wars.’
Shade snarled, the sound echoing through the room. “What. Do. You. Mean. Never mated? He is everything we’ve ever wanted in a mate. Strong. Smart. Loyal. He adored us! How could you possibly have fucked that up?”
“I never had the chance nor do I deserve it.” Wukong snapped back. “I broke his trust in me. You know as well as I do that a mating forged on broken trust is not healthy.” Wukong pointed out wincing at the feeling of claws digging into his skull.
Shade brought his face close to Wukong’s. “That wary and guarded fighter is nothing like our sweet Mihou. Whatever you did to him I am going to fix. He is ours as he has always been.” Shade released the king and stepped back. “He’s still very smart. And loyal. Our sweet peach took the kids and fled the moment he noticed something off. Good. Our cub needs a softer influence in his life. Mihou and his beautiful shows and poetry are perfect.” Shade paused, rubbing his chin in thought as he bounced on the balls of his feet. “Cub could use a sibling. Maybe that strange dragon girl. She seemed quite close to him. Maybe I can convince Mihou…. Hmm.” Shade absentmindedly sat back on his tail, pulling out the staff and swinging his feet. “Think they would like a picnic? Some fruits for the children. Peaches for Mihou, just like I promised. I have the strongest craving for venison. Oh. Maybe Human Meat buns. Those are tasty.”
Wukong glared at Shade before he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head the runes on the floor glowing bright before his glamor failed. Gold pupils set in ruby-red eyes were filled with shock as the Shade studied the scars. The most obvious being the one around Wukong’s forehead and his back where the golden fur was swirled with a blue-tinted white.
“You’ve been keeping some big secrets, Monkey King.” Shade remarked, leaning down and running a hand over the scar across the captive monkey’s forehead. “What’s with the white? Surely I haven’t started aging. We’re immortal like three times over.”
“Seven times immortal.” Wukong grumbled the correction. Something that was a rather bad habit from the journey and the times he had to correct Mk’s stories.
Shade’s body stilled and a smile spread over his face. “Seriously? How’d you manage that?” He snickered, leaning back. “Bet those stuffy assholes in the celestial realm hate that. Dickheads.”
“How do you think I ended up in that cooking pot?” Wukong remarked glaring.
“Cooking pot….” Shade murmured, casually spinning the staff. “I remember that. Your guard slipped and I managed to poke through your head a bit. Not much. Annoyingly. There was something after that. Something heavy… and lonely.”
‘Then you are aware of the damn mountain.’ Wukong thought as Shade circled around the golden monkey.
“But I’m not going to be lonely anymore!” Shade cheered as he walked, his mood flipping like a coin. “I’m going to have the most gorgeous mate alive, a very strong cub, maybe two. Haven’t decided. And some good food. And after that,” A dark smirk covered his face. “I’ll make sure Heaven knows to leave my home and family alone. It’ll be easier fighting them without anyone slowing me down.”
“You know Ma-Mihou is just as paranoid when it comes to keeping young ones safe.” Wukong pointed out.
Shade practically swooned with a chuckled. “I remember. He was always so dashing when he was protecting little ones. I’ll make him understand that this is the safest place for them. All of them. All of this new family you kept from me. I could smell others on the two children. Can’t you picture it? Everyone living and laughing here within these walls! Completely safe from danger and threats! Unburdened by the worries of mortals and gods. Just like We always wanted.”
‘Damn!’ Wukong thought before Shade frowned.
“But… There has been something on my mind since waking up. I've noticed you don't even smell like a true demon anymore. I'm going to have to fix that first before getting our family.” Shade smirked.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Wukong snapped, glaring up at the shade.
“Wine, blood, and sex.” Shade supplied. “Perhaps that's why Mihou left. You don't smell anything like a true demon should. You smell far too human.”
Wukong stiffened. “I don’t want to have sex with anyone.” He snarled, growling at the shade. “Ma-Mihou doesn’t smell like it either.”
“Mihou isn't a Warrior Demon. Naturally, he wouldn't like that smell on his person.” Shade narrowed his eyes. “You're still keeping something for me.” Shade stated.
Wukong averted his eyes but said nothing.
Shade grabbed Wukong by the jaw, his black claws firmly cutting into Wukong’s skin. “We can do this the easy way... Or the demon way. What will it be, oh Great Sage?”
Wukong just glared at the shade
Shade simply gave a dark grin in return. “Demon way it is.”
Dread dropped like a brick in Wukong’s gut. During the wars, there were three types of ‘Demon Ways’ to get information. Mental, Physical, and Sexual, something all demons had at least one knack for.
‘Mac... Keep them safe.’ Wukong thought with a prayer.

“You want to sneak onto the mountain to find the real monkey king alone?!” Mk questioned the black-furred simian.
Macaque briefly glanced over at the kid. “I’m not taking you two with me. You won’t be able to last a minute against the Shade. Especially since he took the staff.”
“What if you end up captured like Monkey King did?” Mk questioned. “At this rate Monkey King is turning out to have Disney Princess Syndrome.”
That startled a burst of laughter from the ebony monkey. “I’m going to tell him you said that.” He chuckled, fixing up his armor. “And this is a stealth mission, Kiddo. Something your group isn’t exactly known for. I’ll be in and out really quick. No one can keep me when I don’t want to be. Not for long at least.”
“If your not back by sunrise I'm coming to get you.” Mk warned.
Macaque hesitated and placed a hand on the boy’s shoulder. “I’ll be careful. You and Mei can stay here.”
There was a loud crash followed by a shout. “I’m okay!” called Mei’s muffled voice from another room.
The monkey rolled his eyes. “Please try to leave my house in one piece.”
“We’ll keep everything in order.” Mk reluctantly stated.
“Good.” Macaque ruffled his hair with a faint smirk. “I’ll be back as soon as I can. Hopefully with the real Monkey king.” With that he dropped into the shadows.
In seconds Macaque was silently dropped right at the entrance to the cavern Wukong lived in hidden in the shadows. His eyes went wide at seeing the shack no longer on its small hill while a Moon Barrier softly glowed in front of a massive palace carved into the very mountain. The warrior quickly removed the glamor around his ears, listening for the steady pulse of the stone monkey. His ears flared out as they searched.
Nothing in the ruins of the small house. One ear twitched towards the palace and he stilled before all six faced that direction. That faint beat echoed through the ancient corridors and stone stairways, leading down to the old dungeon. “Of course.” The warrior mumbled replacing the glamor and slipping back into the shadows.
‘The Shade is a Warlord in modern times. Where else would he place a powerful being without him trying to escape?’ Macaque thought while his shadows zipped down the twisting halls and stairs to the all-too-familiar dungeon. Unexpectantly as Macaque got closer waves of pain slowly raked over him pulsing from his hands, mouth, back, and lower left leg. He had only felt something like this a few times in the past when Wukong was severely unconscious and the last time that had happened all he had felt was a burning pain around his own body for weeks at a time before it would stop and then start again a few months later. ‘Phantom pains... Looks like I'm getting closer.’ Macaque narrowed his eyes assessing the sensations to see if a rescue was possible at the moment.
He had to stop when a sharp pain slashed over his blind eye and another over his throat. ”YOU HARMED OUR MATE!?!”
Macaque’s steps faltered and he froze. Petrified he placed an unsteady hand over his eye. ‘Our mate? That sounded like Wukong. It’s probably the shade.’ The implication of him feeling phantom pains and hearing the shade yelling wasn’t lost on him.
Macaque slipped deep into the shadows deciding to use the ceiling to his advantage, no one would bother to look up if they weren't expecting company. Sliding along the ceiling he came to the only cell currently active. He stilled when he saw the shade throw the cell door open, blood dripping from his claws and mouth with a dark look across his face. “You better give me more information before I start triggering your body into heat when I return.” the shade snapped.
The shadow slipped along the ceiling, eyes following the shade as it stomped off. Much more concerned, Macaque slipped through the top of the cell door. His breath caught when he saw the crumpled form of his king in the ground. He poked his head out of the shadows, softly calling to the golden monkey. “Wukong?”
[Mac… where…?] Wukong opened one of his eyes showing it was a pale yellow and pink his position obscuring any more injuries on the king from Macaque’s current placement.
Macaque held a finger to his lips, removing the glamour over his ears. Keeping three of them set in the shade, he turned his focus to Wukong. “If I get you out of here can the shade track you?” The ebony simian moved closer allowing more of his form out, looking for any traps or curses around the sage.
[don't know...] Wukong replied pushing himself up from the ground. Macaque had to stop from gagging at the sight. Wukong’s mouth had been sewn shut while his throat had a large chuck of flesh missing, his left eye was slashed through with three deep claw marks, an obsidian band crafted to look like snakes covered in thorns pressed into Wukong’s head while his hands were missing all of his fingers, his left leg was definitely broken in several places with bones sticking out of the skin while Wukong’s back was shredded. [look worse... Then feel...] Wukong sensed. In truth everything was just numb at the moment.
Macaque shook his head, shoving the sharp spike of rage into a small box. “Could you hear me responding to you at all?” He gingerly placed a hand on top of Wukong’s head, brushing hair out of his face. [Can you hear me?] The ears tracking the shade detected it leaving the castle. “The shade left. We probably have some time before it returns.”
[faint… muffled… warped…] Wukong replied. [don’t touch… crown… enchanted…] Wukong closed his only open eye as blood rolled down his face the spikes from the black ‘crown’ digging into the flesh while the dark red eyes of the snakes shined slowly twisting tighter while a small ‘pearl’ formed in one of the snake’s mouths flashes of a memory playing on its surface.
Macaque tore his eyes from the sight of Wukong fighting him. The circlet adorning the memory’s head gave away which fight it was. “I won’t touch it.” He murmured, cupping the king’s cheek. “Your warning saved me and the kids. I took them somewhere safe. MK is worried about you.”
[You need… to hide…] Wukong flinched, a sharp pain inher back of his head going off. [can’t see… can’t move…]
Macaque quietly slipped into the king’s shadow. “Wukong. How did this happen? You’ve never shown signs of a shade before.” He placed a shadowy hand on the wounded monkey’s wrist, avoiding any injuries.
[in the pot… mind split… Shade drove… I slept… woke up after… the burning… Shade kept sleeping… with potion] Wukong informed the shadow with a barebones explanation. It was all he really could do with his mind threatening to shut down from the toll.
Macaque gently squeezed the king’s wrist. “What potion?” Violet eyes trailed over the other monkey’s form with a frown. “Can you track the shade?”
[not far… few feet…] Wukong sent while an image of a small bottle with a glowing golden liquid appeared in Macaque’s mind along with a simple phrase. ”Just a remedy for me, Mango. To help me sleep.”
Macaque’s hand stilled. “I thought you said that was a sleeping draught. Let me guess. It puts the shade to sleep.” He sighed, unsurprised but with an echo of old hurts. “Where can I get it?”
[need to make it…] Wukong ‘stated’ before stilling slightly. [mimic… silent… don’t come out] Wukong pressed while footsteps of the shade approached.
Macaque stilled, instinctively copying the older monkey’s movements. Twenty seconds later the shade strolled in with a much calmer expression, devoid of blood.
“Alright, I’m calm. Nothing a little violence and a quick run through a waterfall couldn’t fix.” The dark reflection ran a hand through his hair. “So I came up with a brilliant plan to get back on our dear mate’s good side. Despite you spectacularly fucking up, I’m sure it’ll work. I just have to set everything up.” He chuckled, excitedly circling the king. “I’m going to fix up the palace! Get it all nice and ready for our mate and cubs. I decided to take the girl too. It’ll be good for the boy to have a playmate and she will be a good bargaining tool for other demon families. And an excellent hostage for the dragon clans.” Macaque felt his blood run cold. “And our sweet Mihou has always adored children. Offering him more will be sure to get us back in his good graces. I can even set up a special area for his shadow shows he’s been doing recently.” The shade giggled, doing a little cartwheel into a handstand. “And once I get the cubs and our mate all safely stored away, I can go deal with Heaven!” He grinned, unaware of the two horrified looks he received.
[I'm not that suicidal!] Wukong ‘thought’ in pure rage even though he was rendered blind by the shade he managed to glare in its general vicinity.
[You definitely aren’t alright.] Macaque sent back, mind reeling. [I think it’s a lingering fear from back during the demon wars. You were terrified by Heaven. Don’t deny it.] The shadow needed the shade to leave so he could calmly ask Wukong how to make the potion and leave, but the shade was too busy ranting about its plans for the future.
“Do you think if Mihou and I had cubs they would look more like me or you? I want them to look like our sweet Peach. I’m sure our son would love to be an older brother.” Shade goaded.
Wukong couldn’t keep back the growl that escaped his ruined throat at the mention of cubs. [don't you dare touch them!]
Macaque kept a wary eye on the Shade, suppressing a shudder at having a cub with the deranged clone. [I don’t think he can hear you.]
The shade seemed to snap his focus back to the growling golden monkey, scowling down at the mutilated sage. “Let’s see if you’ve gotten any more memories ready for me.” Shade taunted, scanning the ground for more pearls. “Let’s see… saw that one.” He tossed a small pearl behind him. “You foolishly killing our beloved Mihou in cold blood.” Shade growled at the king. “Saw that, mourning while burning bridges. Hmm. Always so stingy with me. Don’t know why you make a habit of lying to yourself.”
The Shade noticed the new pearl that had yet to drop from the crown and grinned before grabbing Wukong by the jaw to pluck the two pearls from the crown. “Let's see here... Mihou and our cub training in the mountains? I'm keeping this one. The other one is just you drinking water from a bowl.” Shade stated in disinterest tossing the ‘useless’ memory behind him while stashing the ‘training’ memory in his armor. “Looks like I'm not going to be triggering your heat this time.”
Wukong shuddered, head hanging low. Despair and grief souring his scent, adding onto the scent of pain.
Macaque watched the shade with narrowed eyes. I knew Wukong watched us training! He eyed the discarded pearl, reminding himself to pick it up later. Leaving memories laying around never ended well.
“Have a nice nap.” Shade grinned before the runes surged to life underneath Wukong. Electricity surged over the sage making his muscles convulse until he dropped to the ground unconscious. The shade closed the cell door and walked away leaving Macaque to carefully slip out of Wukong’s shadow.
Macaque glared towards the fading footsteps before he turned to the king. “Wukong.” He whispered urgently, softly patting the older monkey’s cheeks. “Sorry, Bud, I need you to wake up.” The Warrior reluctantly stared shaking the golden monkey. “I need to know how to make that potion, Wukong. Wake up.” The Sage remained unconscious, not even twitching. “Well, shit. Okay. New plan.” He quickly snatched up the random memory, tucking it into the shadows. Macaque swiftly returned to Wukong’s side and hesitated, brushing the back of his knuckles over the injured king’s face. “I’ll be back soon.” He swore as he dropped into the shadows and fled the palace.
He never noticed a black pearl drop down to the floor from the crown, showing images of LBD talking to a chained-up ebony monkey.

It's Me. I Am the April Fool
{Underswap Papyrus x Reader}
"What are you doing? Are you people-watching or something?" Papyrus rolled his eyelights and shushed you.
"I'M NOT PEOPLE WATCHING, I'M STUDYING," he corrected.
"Studying for what?"
"WAIT AND SEE..." The minute the words left his mouth, you heard Sans groan in the other room.
" very funny papyrus," Sans said, bitterly. Immediately, you understood. April Fools Day. The day of pranksters. Papyrus cracked up laughing and you felt a small smile growing on you. As Sans scolded his younger brother you found yourself the victim of another prank. Shaking your head, you went to brush yourself.
"and now the human has fallen victim to one of your pranks! have you learned nothing!?"
"NAH."
"don't 'nah' me! you do this every year!" You left the brothers to their bickering and went about your day. Papyrus had been nearby you all day. You wondered if he was trying to prank you again.
"Papyrus, I'm not going to fall for it again, plus I can see you," you called out.
"YEAH, I KNOW!" He plopped onto the couch beside you. "ANYWAYS THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M GONNA DO."
"Really?"
"YEAH, THIS IS SERIOUS FOR ONCE." You raised your eyebrows in disbelief that Papyrus could take anything seriously at all.
"DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT! I'M NOT JOKING. WE NEED TO TALK."
"About what?" Papyrus immediately clammed up. You tilted your head in bewilderment. "Did something happen?"
"NO, BUT IT SHOULD. I MEAN— I'VE BEEN WANTING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING AND UH..." Papyrus looked away from you nervously.
"he's had feelings for you but could never figure out how to tell you," Sans shouted from the other end of the room. You felt your face get warm. It was then immediately overtaken by a strange thought.
"And you chose to confess to me on April Fools Day?" Papyrus groaned.
"YEAH, OKAY, I KNOW THAT SOUNDS BAD BUT I SWEAR ON MY LIFE THAT THIS ISN'T A PRANK!" You didn't know if you should believe him.
"it's not a prank! he's been wanting to confess for ages but always chickened out at the last minute!" Papyrus grimaced and shut the door.
"THAT'S ENOUGH BROTHER. THANK YOU!" Papyrus went back and sat next to you. "I PROMISE THAT IT'S TRUE, OKAY? I KNOW MY TIMING IS AWFUL, BUT GIVE ME A CHANCE?" You didn't know what to say. Somewhere in the back of your mind, a voice told you he wasn't lying. Papyrus was a prankster, but he wouldn't play with someone's feelings. Plus, he was always bad at timing.
"I'll take that," you said, going closer to him. Papyrus's face lit up and broke into a wide smile.
"HUH, I GUESS I AM THE APRIL FOOL THIS TIME."

Ran
“Seriously, y/n, you should go,” Rindou says softly, putting a hand on your shoulder to stop you from entering the club he and Ran owned. “No! Is Ran alright? I haven’t seen him in weeks and I’m worried sick!” you cry, trying to push past the younger Haitani, only for him to once again, gently pull you away from the club’s entrance by your shoulder. Frustrated, he grips your other shoulder, forcing you to still and face him, “y/n I know you're upset-” “I’m not!” you cut off. Rindou huffs before speaking up once again, “y/n I don’t want you to get hurt, please just go home and I can explain everything later.” “But, Rindou-” “God you’re so annoying,” a voice rings through the air, turning both yours and Rindou’s head to face the very root of the commotion between you two. Ran walks over to the two of you, gently patting Rindou on the shoulder to signal him to go back inside. Rindou’s grip tightens on your shoulder, hesitant to leave you to your demise, but he knew he couldn’t defy his brother. He lets go of you and walks back into the club. Gritting your teeth, you turn to Ran, “Ran, where have you been..,” you reach out to try to take his hand only for the dual-haired male to smack it away, “That’s none of your business.” “What?” Scoffing, he shakes his head before stepping closer to you, an unfamiliar anger radiates from him, an emotion that you’ve never seen directed at you before, “Are you fucking dumb or what? Can’t you see I don’t want you around anymore?” His words hurt, they hurt more than any stab wound or injury that could ever be inflicted on you. “Ran I…if there’s something I did wrong-” you were cut off with a slap to the face, the sudden action stinging your cheek raw. “I don’t want to see your pathetic face again. The only reason I was friends with you was because I felt sorry for you, but now I see why you didn’t have any in the first place.” That was all he said before walking off back into the brightly lit building, leaving you in the silence of the cold streets, with fresh wounds to mend all on your own.
That night you stayed awake thinking about Ran had said about being your friend out of pity and it broke your heart knowing damn well it was true
You never had any friends due to your reputation for being “clingy” and “two-faced smarty pants” so maybe that’s why Ran didn’t want to be around you anymore
When you would go to school, life was hell. Everyone would whisper rumors about what had happened between you and the older Haitani. “I heard they were fwb.” “He was probably friends with her because she’s the smartest student in the school.” “For someone so smart, she’s really dumb to associate with a Haitani!”
You barely ate or slept, obsessed with your studies and upholding the title of the “smartest student” because it was the only thing you had left.
Some days when you see Ran around in school, you feel angry at what he did to you, but would also feel jealous of the multiple friends he had around him wherever he went.
It was as if he was silently telling you, “You’ll always be nothing but know-it-all”
Sometimes Rindou would come by your house to tend to your health after seeing you lose so much weight and letting yourself go, but you’d make sure to lock your doors–and windows–so that you didn’t have to face him because of how stupid you felt after not listening to him.
If you had stayed home, if you had just listened to Rindou, would things have been different? Would you still have Ran as your only friend?
Kokonoi
“What are you doing?” I questioned Kokonoi. He grits his teeth, his eyes narrowing as he furrows his brows. Pouting, you take a seat across from him in the library, smirking at his attempts to try to ignore your presence. “For a gangster, you sure do act childish, Kokonoi,” you mock. Yet, Kokonoi remained focused on what he was reading. “What would Akane think of you now if she saw you living the life of a thug?” Slam! Slowly looking up from where his attention was focused, he finally greets your devious gaze with a murderous look. “What the hell do you want?” “It’s such a shame,” fauxed disappointment crosses your features, “you would’ve been quite the guy if you weren’t living the life of scum.” You calmly sigh as you pick up the book that your old friend had slammed on the table. Koko was livid, blood boiling and all, but he’d be damned if he lost his composure and gave you the satisfying humiliation you sought in him, “I could say the same about you. Despite being the top student at your school, you have the mind of scum yourself,” he remarks. Chuckling, you shake your head, “No wonder why Inupi hasn’t abandoned you yet.” Your face drops, dead eyes boring into Kokonoi, “You’re so pitiful, even for a money-making genius.” On the outside, it would seem as if your words bounced right off of the collected male. However, deep down, his heart was bleeding slowly as you ridiculed him and exploited his trauma for your own benefit. He refused to give in to your sadistic satisfactions. Stubborn as he may be, Koko could never ignore or refuse the pain that came with your sharp words.
You and Kokonoi had fallen out of touch after the death of your friend Akane, due to the fact that you blamed him for just rescuing Inui and not Akane.
Both of you were smart, and were complete geniuses when it came to making money. And, despite being on bad terms with each other, you both silently competed with one another as to who could earn more money when the opportunity arose.
And, sure, you highly disliked Koko for his obsessiveness with Akane, but what really topped it off was when he had dragged Inui into the life of delinquency with him.
Sometimes, you’d wonder if Koko only stayed with Inupi because he looked so much like his sister, slowly coming to the realization that he never moved on from Akane.
You would worry that he’d possibly get Inupi killed due to his stubbornness and obsession, so from then on you did everything in your power to stop his efforts of success, even if it meant holding Akane's death over his head.
Fun fact: Your just as obsessed with Inupi as Koko is
When you see Inupi around school, you try to turn him against Kokonoi and try to convince him to come back to school and quit living as a thug.
Kokonoi does the same, but tries to manipulate him into believing that he’ll help him revive the Black Dragons to the way they are again.
Kazutora
“I’ll kill him,” Kazutora mutters as he throws another dart at Mikey’s picture. Rolling your eyes, you continue to tend to your studies on the floor. “Could you keep it down, I’m trying to study.” A sigh escapes your lips as you witness yet another dart pierce the picture of the young gang leader in the photo. “What do you even have against Mikey, he knows you didn’t mean-” “How the hell would you know?!” he suddenly shouts, his shadow swallowing your small frame as he towers over you with a hateful aura. You keep calm, gently placing your things down as you stand up to challenge the duel- hair colored boy. “Because if he thought you did it on purpose, he would’ve killed you by now.” He scoffs, “So you're taking his side huh? What? You want me gone too?” he growled. “What? No! I’m just saying, you don’t have to resort to violence to solve your problems!” you shoot back. “If you just-” “NO!” his raised voice catches you off guard, completely freezing you in place. “Why the hell should I listen to you when you don’t even know what it’s like to be in my place?” he hisses, glaring daggers at your cowering figure. “You grew up with a fucking spoon on a fucking silver platter. Even now, you get anything and everything without having to fight or work for it.” Your lips trembled as tears threatened to spill from your eyes. “Kazutora…t-that’s not… ” “It is! You’re just a spoiled bitch that gets what she wants because you had friends to support you. You had parents to support you. But guess what, not everyone has the life you live, so don’t tell me how to deal with my problems when you've never been through your own. God, why does a girl like you even exist?” It was as if your whole world was shattering all at once. Why did he say that? Was it all really true? Warm streaks of tears cascaded down your face as you slowly broke down at your friend’s words. “Wow,” he scoffs, rolling his eyes, “what the fuck are you crying for? If you’re really this miserable over a few words, then why don’t you do the world a fucking favor and go die somewhere. The last thing someone wants is a crybaby goodie-two-shoes.” “Why, Kazutora?” you whimper, “why are you saying this, I didn’t mean to-” “Get out.” “W-what?” Growling, he grabs your wrist and pulls you toward the door of his house, “I said,” he throws you down on the concrete of his porch along with your things, “Get the hell out! Go away! Go kill yourself and leave me be!”
That day, you didn’t understand why Kazutora drove you away, but regardless it didn’t stop you from going into a depression.
No matter how much you tried to study to drive away your thoughts, it wouldn’t work.
You couldn’t sleep at night, feeling guilty about your upbringing and thinking how much Kazutora had suffered in his past as a kid, while you sat home with everything you needed while your parents took care of everything.
You developed the habit of often apologizing for things that weren’t your fault and your self-esteem had gone down a lot, so you were constantly putting yourself down.
You hadn’t seen Kazutora that much during school either, but he certainly saw you, as well as the way your other friends would crowd around you, asking about your day and how you were feeling and complimenting the newest clothes you were wearing. It made him more pissed off seeing how you had the life he never got to have and yet despite what you were feeling, you still had people to support you.
On rare occasions when you did see Kazutora around school, he’d insult you or flat out curse you out whenever you so much as looked at him. He hated you with a passion and the fact that you were seeking him out caused him to fester his hatred.
Eventually, he escalated to bullying you when it was clear you wouldn’t leave him alone and you’d just accept because you thought that you deserved it.
One day, Kazutora had ended up having a group of gang members beat you until sunrise and afterwards you went home and ended up cutting your wrists.
Your parents had to drive you to the hospital and when you had explained to them what happened and what you did, you never went back to school again and was homeschooled until further notice.

I heard a phrase once that goes something like "growth lies outside the comfort zone".
And holy shit my dudes. It's right.
In just 9 days I've spent at a hospital, I changed. I can't say "completely", but... Wait, no, I can!
I came out of the hospital a different person than the one who entered it, and I genuinely mean it. I described it in many ways. "As if somebody broke me out of my shell", "like I don't have a layer I used to have" or simply "I'm back". It feels... So good, yet so unfamiliar.
Everyone I talked to since I came home who knew me before then, is shocked. They say I smile more, I have a completely different energy, they say I got my spark back that I used to have when I was a child.
I think what happened was the result of many, many things, but mainly:
• Being forced to confront my trauma head on
Hospitals. I had some very painful surgeries, as well as painful and humiliating testing done when I was a child. It screwed me up in so many ways that I can't even articulate to this day. I experienced A Lot of physical and emotional pain during this recent hospital stay. I didn't run from it, couldn't. And I do have to say it contributed to my experience, can't describe in what way exactly just yet.
• Having no privacy and thus, no space to suffer in silence. And thus, having no choice but to let people in
Sharing a room with 4 people, I hardly had any space for myself, except for my bed and nightstand. I tend to cry all by myself when I'm going through something. At the hospital I was going through A Lot, and yet I couldn't hide from curious eyes.
• Having people do many uncomfortable things to my body, and having to just go with it
Well, it's not like I didn't have a say in whether certain things happened to me. I could potentially protest if I didn't want to have some testing done or didn't want someone to wipe me down etc. But my desire to reach a diagnosis was so strong that my limitations in that regard dissolved rapidly. Plus, like. These people are at work. I'm not gonna let my embarrassment keep them from getting their jobs done. Otherwise we would be here all day.
• Being taken seriously, but gently
I was faced with so much kindness during my hospital stay. It helped me remember that somewhere out there the world can be really kind and that there are good people out there. I think I completely forgot about that.
• Being given hope
I didn't realise just how much I had given up on myself and just life in general, over the past few months. And yet I had people gently hold my hands on 3 separate occasions and tell me "It's gonna be okay". How does one not start to believe it even just a little bit after that?
• Being reminded of my passions
I had a very intense talk with the head of the department that took me in. He asked me about my gifts and abilities, and pointed out other ones I missed. I kept finding myself thinking of more I could've mentioned days later.
• Being shown a way forward
This ties in with the point I made two paragraphs before, but I do think it deserves it's separate section. Along with the hope that I might get a full diagnosis, and that what I'm suffering from right now is reversible, I had a spark lit up in me, one that I lost a long, long time ago. I was reminded that I love to learn new things, and that I want to go and study new topics. I'm going back to uni! This time a post-graduate program tho, I'm not pursuing a degree (◡ ω ◡)
So, there you have it. I knoooow that these are highly personal and subjective, but I'd regret if I didn't share my experiences and observations even a little bit. If by sharing this I inspire just one person to do and change something, or to look at things differently, I would consider it as a job well done.

Dying Isn’t So Scary with You
BuckyBarnes x female!reader
In which Bucky and Y/N have a deep late night conversation.
a/n: This might have been inspired by the first episode of 'I'm Dying Up Here'. Please, I just want someone to look at me like that 😭
word count: 1.6k
warnings: mentions of death, mentions of killing, slight angst, fluff

Tumblr media
Faint wind, the rough surface of the compound’s roof beneath them, and contentment laced in the air, intoxicating them with every breath.
“You know what they say?” Y/N’s eyes found Bucky’s in the weak light of the moon. His attention was on her completely as his head leaned down toward her, a curious look weaved with his features. “When you die, a piece of your soul stays with the person you spent your last moment with,” she continued.
And she was serious. Because if she weren’t, she would have crinkled her nose. Or the right corner of her mouth would have twitched. Bucky had spent enough time studying her to know what gave her away. But neither of those things had happened. She was staring at Bucky with anticipation. Her eyes were round and soft, focusing on his as a bright smile snug onto her mien.
“Who is 'they'?” Though amusement replaced his expression, he was not making fun of her at all. He could never do that. Y/N’s interest in the afterlife would be taken as seriously as every other topic.
She shrugged. ”Just people.” And then she looked ahead into the night.
“People, huh?” Bucky followed her gaze. He fixated on a bright light, miles upon miles away from them. It was calming - solid and warm. A focus point that enacted its purpose without being within reach.
“Yeah.”
A pleasant silence took up the space between them then. The only sounds surrounding the pair were the distant chirping of crickets hiding in the bushes beneath and the steady whirring of Bucky’s vibranium arm as it was propped behind him to support his leaning on it.
Bucky really loved these moments. A little peace in the everlasting chaos that surrounded the Avengers day in and out. Like a seldom escape into the slow and steady rhythm of a life that could have been. A life he wished for with Y/N by his side. A moment that showed him that normal still was within the realm of possibilities for him. Whether he would take it, was another thing though.
“What do you think about that?” His voice broke through the quiet. And his head traveled back to the woman beside him, eyeing her profile as it was lit by the weak hues of the night. He liked that, too: Watching as her expressions changed and imagining what thoughts swarmed through her beautiful mind.
“I think it’s wonderful.” Her eyes were trained on the light, still - a smile present on her lips as her words left them.
She was refreshing - how she simply accepted it while his head was pounding with ‘what-ifs’ at her prior statement. One so strong he had to say it out loud. It hit too close to home, and he needed her to affirm his worries harmless with her powerful calmness.
“But what if the last person you were with was the one that killed you?” Bucky’s mind wandered further while he waited for an answer. He thought about all the pieces of souls he would carry with him if this statement were true. It was a bunch. Too much for one person to carry, and that’s what he felt like most of the time. But he wouldn’t accept that this was not something he had to manage. He did it, so he had to deal with it as well.
“Well, then I hope my soul will make them feel remorse for eternity,” Y/N muttered absently, and Bucky shifted his focus back to the distance unfolding before him. That’s exactly what these souls did. He felt them doing it right at this moment. Pressing on his conscience like a heavyweight.
Y/N turned her head towards him when he didn’t comment on her statement. She must have sensed what bothered him. He didn’t even attempt to hide it in her presence. She would figure it out sooner or later. Pushing him on it until he bent under her and spilled his thoughts into one giant puddle before them.
“What about you?” She offered - hesitant to ease the weird tension that had built up between the two. It wasn’t uncomfortable though. It felt as if it had to be there - in its rightful place.
“What about me?” His eyes glazed over. He hadn’t blinked for a while, but it felt right. He wanted to feel the slight stinging of the wind in his eyeballs to remind him how tangible this moment was - to anchor himself back to reality as he waited for the storm in his mind to pass.
Y/N placed her hand on his knee and her thumb began stroking the fabric of his jeans in a steady movement. Bucky averted his gaze from the light in the distance, focusing on her fingers instead. “What do you think happens when we die?"
“I- I don't know, Y/N.” It wasn’t fair. She didn’t have anything to do with it. This was his trouble, and ruining one of these sparse moments with his insecurities didn’t feel right.
Her head dipped to the side, resting on his shoulder and nuzzling deeper into his shirt as a short hum came from her throat. She closed her eyes, and Bucky could feel her warm breath through the thin fabric covering his skin.
“What?” He whispered. Careful to maintain the newfound serenity.
“I guess I can’t say anything to that.” Her lips pressed a soft kiss to his shoulder. “Neither one of us has died before.”
That was true, but both of them had come very close to it more than a few times. And Bucky couldn’t help but let his mind wander again at the thought of it. It was almost unbelievable how regularly they escaped death in their lives, on missions. It had happened often enough to believe in some kind of higher power - or something else.
"Maybe we have.” Bucky leaked through his silent monologue.
“Huh?” Her head lifted from his shoulder and her eyes sought his with a questioning glare. He looked at her, trying to convey as much seriousness and calmness as possible in his next words.
“Maybe we have died before, we just don’t know.”
Of course, he had played with the thought before. If anything, Bucky’s life felt like the punishment the devil would put upon a person sent to him. And at one point, the super soldier had questioned the purity of his heart too much for it to be healthy. It wasn’t easy living with everything he had done. And it certainly didn’t help that he had memories for two lifetimes to process while doing so. But Y/N made it easier. She reminded him of his good sides.
“That's a scary thing to think about.”
It surely was, but that was not what Y/N meant by that. Her hand found his cheek, and he leaned into her touch like a reflex. She wanted to comfort him, because for some - for him inexplicable - reason, she knew exactly what happened in his head. And it felt good to be understood. Not only that. He was also accepted - loved, even, despite his demons and flaws.
“Is it though?” His hand covered hers, his mind slowly feeling at ease again. She had that effect on him. It was her own little superpower.
“What do you mean?” Curiosity spiked in her features. She searched his face for an answer as if she was skipping through a novel. Amazement and joy evident in her reaction with every inch of him she focused on.
“Well, isn’t it kind of relieving to think about death as a new beginning rather than the end.” He wanted that. For her, at least. Her soul deserved to live a thousand lives because it would bring happiness to so many more.
“Huh,” her stare focused on the darkness behind him before her eyes found their way back into his again, “I guess so.” Then she retracted her hand and rested her head back in the crook of his neck.
Bucky chuckled at that.
“What,” she mumbled into his skin, inhaling his scent with a deep breath afterward.
“Nothing.” His hand found the back of her head, stroking her hair and pressing her deeper into him - protective, and safe.
Silence consumed the moment once again, and Y/N’s hand started drawing shapes on his leg, now. The action made goosebumps run up his body. He liked it, though. There were few things Bucky didn’t like in association with Y/N. He would probably argue that there weren’t any, and sometimes it sure felt like that. Right now, was one of these times.
Bucky laid back on the roof, taking Y/N with him as his right arm was already wrapped around her shoulders, his hand disappearing in her hair. The stars above the compound were a lot brighter than the ones over the city in the distance. And when he turned toward the woman in his arms, he could see her features even clearer.
Y/N was the best thing that ever happened to him. And he could say that with confidence after all the horrible things he had endured. She was the light of his life, with her bright smile and her everlasting optimism that never once failed to put his mind at ease. He wasn’t sure what he deserved her with, but he would try and hold on to her for as long as possible. She was his temple - his safe haven.
“I wouldn’t mind dying right now, then,” Bucky whispered with his eyes closed, squeezing her shoulder with his other hand. She propped herself up on the arm placed by his side.
“What?”
Her expression told him that his statement concerned her very much, so he continued in order to calm her nerves. “I think having a piece of me with you is the best place it could be.”
Her eyes lit up at that. “You really think that?”
Bucky just smiled in response. Her head came closer to his, and then he kissed her. Pulling her deeper into his embrace, he tried to tell her everything he really thought of, until their lungs were on fire and forced them to break apart again. Yes, it truly was the best place he could be.

the last thing you’d ever expect would happen to you was atsumu asking you out.
the miya atsumu, the guy who seemed to never have anything other than volleyball on his mind.
though it was a shock to you, you reluctantly agreed, as you did have a tiny crush on the setter.
and it was fun— but only for the first few months.
somewhere along the line, everytime you’d ask him to go out, it was always, “oh i have practice,” or “i’m really tired from practice.”
practice, practice, practice.
you knew well even before you dated that he was extremely dedicated to volleyball, and that he was freakishly good at it.
yet you really couldn’t help but think,
what if he just doesn’t want to hang out with me anymore?
what if he just got bored and can’t bring himself to break up?
you tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. you tried to subdue the thoughts of insecurity that were slowly eating you alive.
until one day, you just broke.
“were you and atsumu actually dating in the first place? i don’t think i’ve ever seen you two together.” a classmate of yours accused.
“yeah y/n, i bet it was just a lie just to make us all jealous!”
“that’s so shallow of you.”
“i didn’t know y/n was that type of person.”
the revolting glares that all your classmates gave you was more than enough to validate your assumptions.
it was enough to make you feel as though atsumu was really playing with you all along.
your stomach churned and you already felt the tears welling up in your eyes.
you didn’t even know what you did wrong.
was it your fault that atsumu couldn’t make time for you?
no. no it wasn’t.
so why did you have to become the villain?
why were you responsible for the fact that miya atsumu was an absolute jerk?
it really didn’t matter to you anymore.
so that evening, you broke up with him, erasing the world that was once your everything for the last six months.
you tried distracting yourself— immersing yourself in studying, grinding games until sunrise, hanging out with friends, reading books.
seeing as you weren’t phased by the thought of him, you thought you moved on.
seriously.
so how did you end up in front of the tokyo metropolitan gymnasium?
perhaps it was fate that you’d be in tokyo during the time of nationals. though you wouldn’t know, as you didn’t keep up with what the volleyball club did.
perhaps it was fate that you’d see a flyer for the spring national high school volleyball tournament on your walk around the huge city.
you could try blaming it on fate, but there’s no denying the reaction you had— the way your face lit up and how your heart beat faster.
as you were mentally debating on whether you should go in or not, you heard an awfully familiar voice.
“yn-san?”
tsu— no, osamu. it was clear from the way he referred to you.
he was the closest one to atsumu, so you guessed that he probably knew you already broke up with his brother and tried to come off nonchalant. “oh, hi.“
“what are you doing here in tokyo?” it wasn’t obvious, but after spending quite a bit of time with the twins, you could tell he was trying to not be awkward with you aswell.
“just a work trip.” you responded straightforwardly. there was no reason to lie.
“ah, i see.”
as osamu’s efforts went in vain, awkward silence came as the both of you struggled to find something to talk about.
“well—“
“you should come watch us play!” he cut you off.“what a coincidence that you’re here on the day we have our first match.”
osamu really was not the type to say that type of stuff. rather, this was atsumu’s sort of thing.
ignoring the subtle ache in your heart, you hummed and nodded. “sure, that sounds fun.”
the grey-haired boy in front of you exhaled in relief before giving you lazy smile.
“cool! see you later then.” he sent you a wave and bid farewell.
it seemed like a huge weight was lifted off his mind at the end, which you were a bit confused about, but quickly brushed it off since that wasn’t the main focus to you.
you just promised your ex’s brother that you were going to go watch them play volleyball— which was the root of the problem that caused you two to split in the first place.
it’s also the first time in two weeks that you’re going to see atsumu.
the closest word you could use to describe how you were feeling was anticipation. nervous, of course, but you very much wanted to see what was keeping atsumu so busy all the time, and how he could love a sport more than anyone else in the world. ouch
you hesitantly walk into the gym, peeking around like a meerkat as you quickly scan your surroundings.
you landed your gaze on the current tournament standings and timetable.
inarizaki vs karasuno…?
pursing your lips and tightening the grip on your backpack, you follow the sign and make your way up on the bleachers, familiar faces appearing the closer you get.
the court was bigger than you expected it to be, and there were definitely more people, too. everyone was warming up, looking like they were getting ready to start soon.
#7, miya atsumu was the first one up to serve. the cheerful music of the band grew louder, until your ex shut them up completely with a mere clench of his fist.
the sound of the two girls squealing amidst the total silence didn’t bother you at all.
because you were too focused on watching tsumu serve.
and you were, speechless.
maybe it was just you, but you felt as though the ball could’ve shook the whole gym as it impacted the ground.
you shuddered at the thought of having to receive that vigorous of a serve, and subconsciously scooted a bit forward on the seat you occupied.
the match passed in a blink of the eye. you didn’t even realize that it had already been over an hour since you arrived.
unfortunately, inarizaki did end up losing, though it didn’t really matter to you. their emotions and drive to win the game were conveyed earnestly, even if you resided in the bleachers way above them, and that itself felt like a win in your books.
maybe it was too late to say, you finally understood why atsumu was so hellbent on volleyball. why his club, and this sport, became such a significant part of his life.
the regret of not having seen atsumu ever play any games earlier came crashing down on you.
perhaps it was selfish of you to be feeling like this after acting all high and mighty that evening. what would you even say to him now? heck, what did you even want?
…you weren’t sure.
but the only thing that repeated in your head was that you needed to find him. this instant.
because communication is key in relationships, and that’s why you didn’t work out.
the clacking sound of your shoes hastily hitting the ground echoed through the empty hallways as you tried to navigate your way through the giant building.
honestly, you had no idea where the inarizaki team would be after their game, but if you wandered around enough, surely you’d see them around, right?
wrong. it’s been twenty minutes now and all you’ve been doing is going around in circles.
it probably would’ve been a much better idea to have stayed in the gym and watched where the team left off, but you were too distracted to think clearly at the time.
however, just as you were able to give up, you saw a familiar tuft of blonde hair walk past a corridor. it looked like he was walking with a teammate. springing back onto your feet, you quickly fixed your hair and followed after it, walking as fast as you could.
you trailed them through a few more corridors until halting abruptly around a corner when you noticed they stopped. there was no way you’re going to make a fool out of yourself here, so you stood there against the wall, the beating of your heart heightening every second.
it sounded like he was talking to someone about something, but it was inaudible to you as you were more focused on not making any noise. suddenly, the sound cut and you heard footsteps walking away.
pressing your lips together nervously, you slowly peeked your head out.
atsumu was sitting alone, head in his hands, mumbling on about something, before suddenly raising his head and glaring intensely at the wall. you jumped a little at his sudden movement, thinking that he might’ve noticed you, but slowly calmed yourself down as you braced yourself to go approach him.
he was probably really frustrated about the game, seeing as he didn’t realize you were right there until you sat down next to him.
“i— y/n?!” he choked, moving his whole body a bit back in surprise.
“hi tsumu, you finally noticed me.” you smiled sheepishly, wanting to tease the boy though it wasn’t quite the right time.
you could make out the tiniest flush of red on atsumu’s face at the call of his nickname. he shifted his gaze back to the wall and muttered quietly. “…what are you doing in tokyo…?”
seriously, who let him be this cute?
“you know, your brother and i had this exact same conversation earlier,” you laughed with a twinkle of endearment.
he turned his head back to face you in shock as you mentioned his twin.
“what the heck, that idiot ‘samu saw you and had the audacity to not tell me?” he complained, pout forming on his face. “ack, i’m gonna go teach him a good lesson when we get home…”
atsumu was expecting you to laugh and tell him off like you always did when he bickered with osamu, but you stayed silent, a smile remaining on your face.
he averted his gaze again though his body was still facing you. he wasn’t sure what to do in this situation, since he never expected he would see you of all people here.
“listen,” you started nervously. you wondered if this was the right choice, but it was too late to back out now. “i saw your game earlier, and geniunely, i thought you looked really, really cool.”
atsumu’s tensed lips relaxed, but too much to the point where he was starting to frown. you panicked as you knew where this was going and shoved your hand over his mouth. his eyes widened as he stared at you dumbfounded.
“don’t even mention it!” you warned, pout appearing on your face to match his. “it was a really good game, okay! i’m not even a sports person but i still got hooked in.”
he remained silent as if he was processing all your information like a robot.
you took that as a sign to continue before he could make a retort. “and i’m sorry, i’m really, really, really! sorry! that i doubted you just because you focused on your club a lot.”
hot breath tickled your palm as atsumu let out a soft chuckle. “you seriously don’t have another word to use than ‘really’, do you?”
you felt your face heat up and you pressed your hand against his face a bit more firmly in embarrassment, making sure he won’t utter any more nonsense.
“t-that’s not the main focus here! just listen,” it was now your turn to shift your gaze over awkwardly. “i just wanted to say that i’m sorry for being such a bad girlfriend and never coming to watch your games, or practice to be honest. i cannot believe i missed out on so much of your life while expecting you to be there for me at the same time too.”
“and i’m not saying this just to immediately get back together again, but rather because i think i really hurt you with my insensitive actions, so you don’t have to forgive me until—“
before you could continue, atsumu grabbed the wrist of the hand that was on his mouth and pulled you closer to him, wrapping his free arm around your shoulders and gently resting his head on the side of yours.
you flinched from the sudden contact, heartrate probably going over 100 miles per hour, but slowly stopped tensing up as you felt a light pat on your back.
“you don’t have to apologize that much, it’s not like i was the best boyfriend to you either.” atsumu spoke, voice almost as soft as a whisper. he leaned his head on yours slightly further in attempt to give you reassurance. “i’m already overjoyed just from the fact you came to watch me play, even if we did lose.”
if you were in an anime, the scene that would be playing right now to describe your mental state would be you frolicking around in a sunny meadow, butterflies fluttering everything, flowers in their full bloom, animals peacefully sleeping around, a moment of complete pure bliss.
your heart was doing somersaults, and you thought that steam would erupt out of your ears from how much you were blushing. the only thing you could get of your mouth was a small hum, yet that was enough for the boy to understand.
atsumu giggled quietly at how adorable he thought you were, embracing you with both arms now and resting his head on your shoulder as he listened to the sound of your heartbeat.
you mimicked his actions shyly, moving your arms to wrap around his torso.
“…you still smell like sweat by the way.” you mumbled into his chest.
your ex—or maybe now boyfriend again—lifted his head to let out a sincere laugh and squeezed you into his hold even tighter just to tease you as you jokingly squirmed around.
the small empty corridor filled itself with the sounds of laughter and the comfort of two immature teenagers. the two of you stayed there together for quite a while, losing track of time just in each other’s presences.
“‘tsumu?” you spoke up.
atsumu hummed in response, fatigue finally hitting him from the long game he had earlier.
“i missed you.”

Stranger things and your OC/reader please: “I don’t like that look. What happened?”
A/N: For the sake of my OC!reader’s involvement in the show’s story & the age I imagine her to be (17-18) around the 3rd season, Sara’s death isn’t as recent as it is canonically.
Tumblr media
"I don’t like that look,” Hopper lilted as he walked up the steps to the cabin. His eyes were on you, stretched out on the porch bench as you stared at the night sky. You briefly flicked them in his direction at his words, just as he took his hat off and perched it on the banister. “What happened?”
You returned your gaze to the sky. “Nothing,” you said. At his lack of response, you turned your head towards him. Hopper had leant back against the fencing and crossed his arms over his chest. One brow was raised, his lips upturned in a knowing smile. You breathed a short laugh through your nose and sat up. “Seriously, Dad,” you reiterated. “I’m fine.”
Hopper shrugged. He trusted his relationship with you enough to know you’d tell him if something was up. If not now, then eventually. “Alright,” he relented, “but I still don’t like that look.” He ducked his head a little to peer in through the dimly lit window. “Where’s El?”
“Watching TV,” you said. You shifted in your seat and curled your legs beneath you, absently fidgeting with your fingers. Hopper watched you for a moment, studying your actions, noting the tell tale signs he’d learnt over your lifetime which told him that though you may be fine, you most definitely were not happy.
Wordlessly, he sat beside you, slumping in his seat. It wasn’t exactly warm out, but you had a habit of sitting on the porch bench most evenings while you waited for him to come home from work, whether there was a breeze or not. Sometimes, El waited with you, the two of you reading a book or playing a boardgame on the decking, and he found himself incredibly at ease in those moments. To see his kids together and happy was something he would choose above all else, for both his sake and your own, and the past you’d left behind.
“Good day at work?” You broke the restful silence.
Hopper audibly sighed. “Uh-huh,” he said. “Always something interesting in Hawkins. What about you? Good day with El?”
It was a question he always asked, his subconscious needing to hear that your new family situation was still working, and you usually answered without problems. This time, your answer was taking too long for comfort, and Hopper fancied it had something to do with the look he’d caught earlier. He dropped his head and gave you a look of his own, something you glanced at briefly before biting your bottom lip, a clear indication of defeat.
“She found a photo of Sara today,” you said quietly. “The one you took on our fourth birthday at that restaurant. It didn’t upset me or anything, don’t worry. Just...made me think, you know?”
Hopper did know. Thinking about Sara had always been a daily occurrence, but since inviting El into his home, the thoughts had only recently become more pronounced. It wasn’t that El replaced the daughter he’d lost, but she certainly soothed the ache in his heart…made it easier to remember Sara in a light that wasn’t so negative.
He didn’t doubt that the same could be said for you. Losing a sister was hard enough for anyone to cope with, but losing your twin had changed you permanently. You’d been such a happy child, you both had, but there always seemed to be some dull cloud hanging over your head, vaguely marring your smiles and the brightness in your eyes. But since El, it had all become less noticeable. Everything had. Sara’s loss...the divorce...the move...unacknowledged emotions. Little by little, El’s light was beginning to shine through that cloud.
In a way, it seemed as though your words, your denial of being upset about Sara’s photo and your overall reaction to it, were a gentle acceptance towards the often unspoken fact that Sara really was gone. You hardly spoke about her anymore. You’d hardly grieved. But somewhere along the way, a time between now and saving El, it seemed as though things slowly began to look up.
Hopper dragged a tired hand down his face and shifted across the bench. He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you tight against his side. “Yeah,” he breathed out, rubbing your shoulder, “I know.” He glanced behind him and through the window. El’s eyes were still fixed on the TV, the same entrancement on her face that she held whenever she did something she’d once been forbidden from doing.
His lips quirked in a smile as he turned to face you. “You’re a great big sister, honey,” he said. “And I’m proud of you. You know that?” He pressed a kiss to your temple, feeling you nod against his lips, then peered up at the sky. The stars glinted. “So’s Sara.”

𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐎𝐘 | 𝐊𝐄𝐈𝐒𝐔𝐊𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐉𝐈
category: fluff to angst
Y/N was the prettiest girl Baji had seen. He loved her dearly. The first time he saw her, his eyes lit up. He was so in love, that he dropped his Peyoung Yakisoba that he and Chifuyu were sharing. He just knew he had to impress her in some way—
He reviewed her grades and she had consecutive A’s— Alright, Keisuke. Look like a dork. Chifuyu had tried to tell him to just go up and talk to her but, our little Keisuke couldn’t handle that.
He came to school the next day wearing glasses and carrying a random glasses case he stole. “You dropped your case.“ Y/N said, picking the item up. Baji saw sparks fly.
“C-Can I take you out?”
Y/N gave him a dazed look and became silent. “Sorry! I shouldn’t have asked that. Forgive me-!”
“Sure. Why not?”
The rest was history. Well- Chifuyu had to help Baji steal enough cash to buy an expensive suit. It was fun. After two months of dating. The entirety of Toman knew about Y/N.. but, the thing was. They never encountered her. They only heard stories about her from Baji and Chifuyu.
Come to find out, Y/N thinks Baji has an after-school job. Well, guess what? The after-school job is Toman! “You gotta let us meet her. Come on! How am I gonna tell funny stories at the wedding?!” Mikey pleaded. “Ok- Ok… but she really doesn’t know about the gang stuff. She can’t find out, seriously.” Baji said.
You were sorta happy to meet Baji’s friend. Their appearances… looked a bit scary. You heard from your parents that only gang members had piercings. “Hi… I’m Y/N L/N…” The girl bowed, hearing their loud laughs. “Y/N You don’t have to bow, seriously.” Baji smiled, holding her hand gently. “This is Mikey, Draken, Mitsuya, Pah, and you already know Chifuyu.” Baji pointed to each person as he said their names. “We heard a lot about you! We didn’t expect him to actually have a girlfriend though. Glad there’s someone to deal with his bullshit.” Draken smirked.
“Keisuke’s actually laidback! He studies with me a lot!”
“WHAT?!”
“He studies with me… All the time? Did I say something wrong?” Y/N withered. “N-No! They’re just surprised because um... Baji’s a lot smarter than us. He’s really quick with work so we’re surprised he’s actually studying with someone!” Chifuyu said, smiling at Y/N. “Oh… That’s great! I didn’t know you were that smart, Kei! I guess you really are a genius.” Y/N kissed Baji’s cheek with a small smile.
“Well! It was lovely for you guys to meet! How about I take you home, Y/N! You know your dad is really strict about that curfew!” Baji yanked Y/N away. “You guys nearly broke the cover!”
“… How do we break a cover? Its fabric.”
“Come on Pah… Follow along bro.”
To you, the meeting was only questionable because they didn’t sound stunned that you and Baji were both smart— but because he wasn’t that smart. If Keisuke wasn’t that smart, then how in the world was he keeping up with you? “Kei… Are you lying to me about something?” Y/N asked, letting go of his hand. “… No. Why would you think that?” He responded, looking her in the eyes.
“It’s just um… Your friend. The ones you introduced as Mikey and Draken... Have you not heard of them? They’re gang members! It’s um. The… Tokyo.. um... I dunno.” Your shoulders slumped, but you noticed Baji breathing heavily. “You haven’t been in contact with any gangs, right? Are you ok?” He asked.
“I met the leader of the Black Dragons once! He and his friends stopped to help me because I scraped my knee! I wonder how they’re doing…”
Not well, Y/N! Baji actually had something to do with his death but moving on:
“Ok, Y/N. I’m a part of Toman. You were right. Tokyo Manji Gang, ok? I just.. didn’t want you to be scared of me.” Baji looked away and began rubbing his neck. “Huh? Why would I be spooked by anyone? If I’m gonna die I’d just die. I’m scared of my mom when she messes up dinner though.” Y/N shrugged. “So you’re not upset?” Baji smiled.
Y/N roughly grabbed his ear and pulled him down. “Yes, I am upset! You overworked yourself because you wanted to seem smart, didn’t you? That’s why you kept showing up to school late!” Y/N yelled. “Ok! Ok! Yes! I did! I wanted to impress you!”
The full way home was a lecture about protection and what to do if someone shows up to a fight with a gun— and to not lie about unreasonable things. Y/N cherished Keisuke regardless.
And when he departed, she just couldn’t handle it. She let herself go. Only so she could be reunited with her lover.
Anything for her loverboy.

Tuesday December 31, 1985
“Fuck, it’s cold out here.” You said before trying to warm your hands with your breath.
“I know, I’m sorry, but it sure is pretty at least right?” Eddie asked, taking your hands in his and rubbing them for you to try to help you warm them up.
“Mhm. There are so many stars, it’s insane.” You replied as you looked up to the sky. You were at the edge of Lovers Lake sitting in the back of Eddie’s van with the doors open, a worn blanket over your laps as you leaned into each other and looked at the winter night sky. The moon and stars lit it up in dark blues and purples. It was breathtaking.
“In the summer, when the moon isn’t out, you can see the whole Milky Way.” The metalhead said as he too looked at the sky.
“I can’t wait to see it.” You smiled. You looked up at Eddie, taking in the way his big doe eyes shone in the moonlight. “Speaking of summer.” You began, the metalhead pulled his attention from the sky to lock on to your eyes. “I-uh- had something to ask you.”
“Shoot, sweetheart.” He said with a smile.
“Uhm, my dad got us a big graduation present.” You started.
“Hopefully I actually graduate this year.” Eddie said with a slight scoff. He was trying to play it off as a joke but you could tell he wasn’t actually sure.
“You will graduate Eddie, this is your year. If I have to study with you every single day to do it, I will.” You promised, you sent him an encouraging smile. “Remember, ‘86 baby.”
“Right, ‘86.” He returned your smile. “Though, it will be hard to concentrate on studying when I have such a beautiful study partner.” He added, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into a kiss, one you couldn’t help but giggle through.
“Hey, let me finish asking you my question!” You laughed, lightly pushing Eddie away as he peppered your neck with kisses.
“Okay, okay. Go ahead, dolly.” He said with an exaggerated sigh.
“So, my dad got us a special graduation gift. He got us tickets to see Megadeth in June.” You got out excitedly. You watched as a large smile broke out of Eddie’s face.
“Seriously? Megadeth? I didn’t think they were coming out here in June! Did they add a date?” He asked quickly, clearly over the moon.
“Ah, no. That’s where the question comes in.” You watched Eddie cock his head in slight confusion. “The show is in Los Angeles. I have plans to drive out to California for a few weeks after graduation. And I was wondering if you wanted to do the trip with me?” You asked, somewhat anxious for his reply.
“You want to drive with me across the country and take me to a Megadeth concert in L.A.?” He questioned.
“Yes?”
“Holy shit, doll. That sounds amazing! Of course I want to go!” He practically shouted, he grabbed the sides of your face and planted a searing kiss on your lips. “No one’s ever done anything like that for me.” He added after pulling back, he was staring into your eyes like he was trying to memorize every single color in them. “You’re too good for me, you know that right?”
You scoffed lightly, “I am not.” You placed your hands on his arms that were still holding your face and gently squeezed. “We’re good enough for each other, Eds. You deserve me as much as I deserve you.” You felt your face heat up as you added, “You’re everything I’ve ever wanted Eddie.”
“Me too, sweetheart. Everything.” And his lips were on yours again as he kissed you hungrily. He moved his hands from your face, one making its way into your hair and the other around your waist, pulling you as close to him as he could get you. Your hands found their way to his back and you clung to his vest, kissing like neither of you needed oxygen to live.
You don’t know how long you were like this and it didn’t matter, nothing else mattered besides kissing Eddie. At some point he had moved you into his lap so he could get you even closer to him, the arm around your waist was almost painfully tight but you couldn’t care less. He tasted like cigarettes and champagne, a combination you weren’t sure why you found so intoxicating. You couldn’t help the small moan you let out when he lightly nipped your bottom lip, which caused Eddie to smirk against them.
You were interrupted when the alarm on Eddie’s watch went off. You pulled apart a little out of breath, both lightly giggling as Eddie turned it off. “Okay, five minutes until New Year’s.” He turned slightly behind him and grabbed your Styrofoam cup that you had been drinking out of earlier and handed it to you before grabbing his own, then he picked up the bottle of champagne the two of you “liberated” from the store and topped up both of your cups.
“Do you have any New Year's resolutions Eddie?” You asked as you took a sip of your drink.
“Just to spend as much time with you as I can.” He said with a grin.
“If we spent anymore time together we would be conjoined twins.” You joked, “I’m serious, what are your resolutions?”
“So am I, Y/N.” He said somewhat seriously, “I don’t care what happens this year as long as I get to spend every day with you still.” You felt your heart pound wildly in your chest at his answer.
“Then that’s a good resolution.” You said with a shy smile.
“What about you?” He asked, taking a drink from his cup.
“Just to graduate and spend time with this really cute guy I know.” You responded cheekily.
“Oh a cute guy huh?“ Eddie asked with a smirk and his eyebrow cocked. “Do I know him?”
“Mhm, very well actually.” You smiled, “He’s got all this wild hair that I love playing with, and these cute little dimples when he smiles, a bunch of kick ass tattoos. Oh! And the biggest, prettiest, brown eyes I’ve ever seen. Those eyes could probably get me to commit a crime if he tried hard enough.” You giggled, you had brought your free hand up to cup the side of his face as you admired his features.
“I’m pretty sure they did get you to commit a crime, babe.” He chuckled as he nodded his head towards the champagne bottle, but you could see the slight pink in his cheeks. “He-uh- sounds real great, princess.”
“He’s one of the best people I’ve ever met actually. Really kind, and funny, talented, endlessly sweet. Perfect really. I don’t know where I would be right now without him.” You said seriously, looking into those eyes you loved. You saw a goofy love-sick look appear on Eddie’s face as you spoke, you were sure you wore a matching one.
“I bet he feels the same way about you.” He said softly, looking from your eyes to your lips and back as you flushed. “That’s a good resolution too.”
“I like to think so.” You smiled, the two of you shared another heart-filled look with each other before you tore your eyes away, “How much time do we have left, honey?”
Eddie looked at his watch again, “20 seconds actually.” He pointed his wrist at you so you could both watch it count down.
“3…2…1! Happy New Year!” You said together before kissing right at midnight.
“You know that was my first ever New Year’s kiss?” Eddie said as he took a sip of his drink after you pulled apart.
“Mine too, actually.” You replied as you took a sip of yours, absentmindedly playing with a lock of Eddie’s hair with your other hand.
“First of many, I hope.” He said as he bit his lip lightly.
“I think so.” You replied confidently, loving the cute soft smile that graced his face.
“I think this is going to be a good year, baby.” Eddie said as he set his drink down and wrapped both his arms around you again, pulling you into him further from your spot on his lap.
“I think so too, Eds.” You beamed, leaning and kissing him again.

Wednesday January 22, 1986
The wind was pounding on all sides of the Munson trailer as you and Eddie were cuddled on the small couch, a blanket wrapped around you both as you watched the copy of The Goonies you had rented that night before the snowstorm hit.
You jumped after a particularly powerful gust rattled the window behind you. This was your first ever snowstorm and you were already on edge about possibly getting snowed in or the power going out, the trailer was barely warm enough with the power on. Eddie chuckled lightly and pulled you further into him with the arm that was around your shoulder.
“It’s okay baby, just the wind.” He said gently, leaving a kiss on your temple. “Nothing to worry about, we get these all the time. If we’re lucky, the school will call and we won’t have to go in tomorrow.”
“That’s a real thing? Snow days?” You asked, looking up at your boyfriend's face. You watched as an amused smile graced his features and he looked down to meet your eyes.
“They are indeed, sweetheart. And with a storm like this, I give ‘em an hour before they call. Then it’ll be you and me; sleeping in, watching movies, I can show you how to play my guitar again.” He listed, seemingly very excited about the prospect. “Oh, you’ve never made a snowman, or had a snowball fight have you?”
You shook your head, you had only ever visited your grandma when it was warmer or at least for Christmas before the snow really stuck. “You have to go up to the mountains to get to the snow in L.A. and I never really made time to do that.” You smiled.
“Oh well then dolly, if we get the day off I’ll show you how to embrace a snow day.” He smirked, kissing your cheek before turning his attention back to the movie.
Exactly 48 minutes later, with the storm not letting up outside, the phone in the trailer rang. Eddie shot you a knowing grin as he got up to answer it. He listened to the message on the other side for a few moments before hanging up the phone and walking back to you.
“No school tomorrow!” He said with a large smile before plopping down next to you again. “I’m going to teach you how to make a snowman. Maybe we’ll have a snowball fight too.”
“You promised me we’d get to sleep in, we get to do that right?” You asked as you rested your head on his shoulder, wrapping the blanket around you two again.
“Oh of course we do. I’ll never pass up more sleep next to my girl.” He said before kissing the top of your head and putting his arm around you.
~ The Next Morning ~
You woke up a little past 10, your head using Eddie’s chest as a pillow as the man laid on his back with his arm wrapped around you, holding you close to him. You looked up at your boyfriend and couldn’t help the smile that appeared on your face. You loved seeing Eddie like this, peacefully sleeping, the gentle sunlight making his features look soft and beautiful. Like some kind of renaissance painting. You could look at him like this for hours, never wanting to break his peace.
“Are you staring at me, princess?” He suddenly asked, a small smirk appearing on his face though his eyes were still closed.
“How could you even tell?” You asked with a giggle.
“I can feel your eyes on me.” He said, finally opening his eyes to meet yours, a large sleepy smile on his face, “Morning, gorgeous.”
“Good morning, handsome.” You beamed back.
“God, I love waking up like this.” He said with a happy sigh, wrapping his other arm around you and holding you close. “Waking up with you makes every day better, you know that?”
“Mine too, Eds.” You said brightly, leaning up to leave a gentle kiss on his cheek.
“More.” He said with a grin.
You laughed and leaned up, kissing his other cheek.
“More.”
Suddenly you were attacking his face with kisses as he laughed under you, you made sure to cover his entire face before pulling back with a large smile. “That enough, baby?”
“Yeah, that’s enough. For now. How about we go make breakfast huh?” Eddie asked with a love sick smile as he pushed a lock of hair behind your ear. You nodded in agreement, leaving one more kiss on his lips before getting out of bed. Eddie followed, groaning as he stretched his back when he stood.
“Wow there’s so much snow out there!” You said as you looked out Eddie’s window, the trailer park was covered in the fluffy white powder, making it look like it was covered in frosting. The sun was shining and the reflection off the snow made the whole place look brighter than you had seen it before. “I can’t wait to make a snowman!” You said excitedly, turning a big smile on Eddie as he was pulling on a band shirt.
“Yeah? Me neither, doll.” He smiled back, “Know what you want it to look like?”
“Can we dress it up like Wayne for when he gets home later?” You chuckled as you led the way out of the bedroom and into the small kitchen, Eddie laughed lightly as he followed.
“Yeah we can put an old shirt on it, and one of these hats.” He gestured towards the walls littered with his uncle's collection.
You found yourself out on the little porch about 45 minutes later, you had changed out of your sleeping clothes and into much warmer ones after breakfast. You were waiting for Eddie when something caught your attention from the corner of your eye. Rounding the corner onto the plowed street on their bikes were Dustin, Mike, and Lucas.
“What are you all doing here? Isn’t it like 7 miles from your house Wheeler?” You asked when the boys got within ear shot. “It’s also cold as hell out here, why are you on your bikes?”
“We’re bored and wanted to see if you and Eddie were doing anything.” Dustin said as he dropped his bike off to the side of Eddie’s van, the other boys following.
“You know there’s a phone right, Henderson?” Came Eddie’s voice as he walked out of the trailer, shrugging his leather jacket on as he did.
“Yeah, well we were already out and the arcade was still closed so we came out here.” Mike said as they walked up to where the two of you were standing.
“Well we were going to build a snowman because I’ve never made one before.” You said cheerfully, “You can help if you want!”
“You’ve never made a snowman?” Lucas said incredulously, raising his eyebrow in disbelief.
“From California remember? It’s like 70 degrees year round, where am I gonna get snow to make a snowman?” You scoffed, “I’ve made some pretty great sand castles though.”
You all decided to make the snowman right by the steps of the front door so Wayne wouldn’t be able to miss it when he got home. The guys showed you how to start the balls and how to get them bigger by rolling them in the surrounding snow until it was the proper size.
You laughed and chatted about the campaign you had the next day as you worked, excited about the story Eddie created. You had just started a new arc for the semester and the villain, Vecna, was turning out to be quite challenging so far. The boys tried to probe Eddie for any hints with the story as you built the snowman but the man wasn’t budging.
“I’m not giving away any secrets, that defeats the point of playing.” Eddie said as he placed one of Wayne’s hats on top of the completed snowman’s head.
“Oh come on Eddie! Just a little hint?” Dustin asked, crossing his arms as he did.
“No way Henderson, that’ll give you all an advantage. That’s not very fair, now is it?” The man said with a smirk. As he turned to walk back into the trailer a small ball of snow hit him in the back of the head, freezing him in his spot.
He turned around almost threateningly slow, a playfully annoyed look on his face, “Which one of you little shits threw that?” He asked as he sauntered closer to where you and the boys were standing. The four of you looked at each other quickly before scattering, running in all directions away from Eddie.
You ran as best as you could through the snow until you were hiding behind the trailer across the street from Eddie’s. You could hear the others laughing as they tried to evade the metalhead as he chased them down. You were packing a few snow balls as you heard a loud yell of surprise from the other side of the trailer. “It was Y/N!! She threw it!” You heard Mike rat you out.
“Uh-oh.”
“I knew one of you would spill, thanks Wheeler.” You heard your boyfriend say. Armed with a snowball in each hand you peered around from behind the trailer to see if you could spot them. You saw them about 30 feet from where you were, Eddie was helping Mike up from the ground where he seemed to have tackled him.
Eddie scanned the area for a moment before his eyes locked with yours and a large shit-eating grin appeared on his face. “Oh sweetheart, seems you’ve been found out!” He yelled as he started after you.
“Thanks a lot Mike!” You called as you ran to the woods that were behind your hiding spot.
You couldn’t help the laughter that was bubbling out of you as you ran through the trees, trying to stay out of Eddie’s grasp as he began to gain on you, his legs were longer than yours so it was easy for him.
You threw one of the snowballs in your hands behind you when you heard him get particularly close, you could hear the snow collide with its target before you were being pulled to the ground. You felt Eddie’s body land on top of you as you collided with the snow, getting a face full of the cold slush.
You were giggling as Eddie flipped you around so you were on your back pinned under him, you saw the large playful smile he had on his face, “That wasn’t very nice now was it, princess?”
You put on as innocent a look you could muster in the moment, “You said you wanted a snowball fight, honey.” You smiled sweetly.
“That’s not really what I had in mind.” He laughed as he pried the other snowball out of your hand and threw it to the side. “I was supposed to get you covered in snow, not the other way around.”
“Now, that’s not very nice, now is it?” You said his words back to him teasingly, Eddie rolled his eyes.
“Jesus, you’re a menace you know that?” He laughed as he laced his hands with both of yours.
“Yeah, but I’m your menace!” You beamed back.
“Yeah, you are.” He said fondly as he looked into your eyes, you watched him ever so slightly bite his lip as his eyes shot down to look at yours and back up to your eyes. “You know babe, your lips look cold, want me to warm them up for you?” He said with a confident smirk. You rolled your eyes playfully at the line, but leaned up and smashed your lips against his.
“Eww, get a room you guys.” You heard Dustin say from behind Eddie. The metalhead broke the kiss and sighed as he leaned back from your chuckling face, looking behind him to see the 3 freshmen.
“You know, I think we will Henderson.” Eddie said as he stood up, he leaned down and helped you up before wrapping his arm around your waist and leading you back towards the trailer park. “Time to get lost now, twerps.”
“Oh come on! That’s not fair!” You heard the boy call as you two walked away.
“Too bad, boys!” Eddie shouted back over his shoulder. You then heard the sound of snow hitting an object and Eddie stopped walking. You looked and saw the fresh snow falling down your boyfriend's back and the smirk on Dustin’s face.
“Oh you’re gonna get it now you little shits.” Eddie said before he started chasing after them.

Thursday February 6, 1986
“Okay class, I’m going to let you take the rest of the period to study for the test tomorrow, you may work with your table.” Mr. Deerfield, your physics teacher, said from the front of the classroom.
The class filled with light chatter as the students turned to each other, many actually studying for the test while a few were discussing plans for next week's Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Dance. The school was decked out with pink and red paper hearts everywhere and there were banners promoting the dance seemingly in every hallway.
“Hey, do you think you’re ready for the test?” You heard Robin say next to you. You had been sitting at the same table as her since your first day at Hawkins High and, besides Eddie, she became one of your first friends here.
“Yeah I think so, do you need help with anything?” You asked, turning to face her.
“No, I just wanted to see if you actually wanted to study or if you want to talk about the dance next week.” She said quietly, “Are you and Eddie going?”
You smirked slightly, Eddie Munson at a Valentine’s Day dance? You had wanted to go, never having had a boyfriend to take to one of those school dances before, but you were pretty sure Eddie wouldn’t want to go, it not really being his kind of scene.
“I don’t think so, I’ve mentioned it once or twice but I don’t think he’ll want to go.” You responded, not being able to help the slight disappointment in your voice. You knew that those dances weren’t really your scene either but there was something about the idea of getting dressed up and dancing all night with Eddie to cheesy love songs that made you want to go.
“Yeah, I haven’t ever seen him go to a dance before.” She said thoughtfully, “But hey!” She exclaimed quietly, turning completely to face you in her stool. “You can come with me and my band friends! A few of us are going even though we don’t have dates! It’ll be fun still!”
“I don’t know, going with Eddie is kind of the only reason I’d want to go, you know?” You said, receiving an understanding nod from your friend. You looked around the room quickly before you added in a hushed voice, “Are you going to go with Vicki? You know, as friends?” You gave her a sly smile, it was hard to miss the way she looked at her band mate and you had broached the topic gently about a month into school.
You saw the color rush to her cheeks ever so slightly, “No! I mean she might be there, but she’s not going with me-or us I guess I should say.” She rushed out quickly.
“Hey, maybe you should chat with her if you see her there, spend a little time with her.” You suggested softly. “I know you said that you aren’t sure, but I think Vicki might be interested too.”
“There’s no way to know in a place like this, I can’t just ask a girl to dance or anything without being shunned by the entire town.” She whispered, looking around to make sure no one was eavesdropping.
“Okay, okay! I understand! I just want you to be happy, you know?” You said with a warm smile, grabbing her hand and gently squeezing it.
“I know, thank you. It’s nice to have another person besides Steve to talk to about this.” She replied gratefully.
“I’ll always be here for you, Robin.” You reassured.
Over the sound of the class you could hear a knocking coming from the classroom door. 3 short knocks, followed by 3 long ones and then finished with another 3 short ones. S.O.S.
“Eddie.”
You turned to the window in the door and could only briefly see some brown hair as it bolted away from the door as your teacher approached it. You had taught Eddie S.O.S. in morse code in case either of you needed each other and couldn’t say it. Though, Eddie liked to use it to get you to skip class with him. Something you’re sure he was doing now.
You waited 5 minutes from when the teacher sat back down to excuse yourself to the nurses office, claiming that you weren’t feeling well. Robin knew what the knocking was and had given you a knowing look as you said goodbye for the day.
You walked out of the school with your belongings, buttoning your jacket up to fight the chill as you made your way across the campus into the woods behind the school. There waiting for you at the bench with a large smile was your boyfriend.
“Hi princess.” He said happily as you approached him. He leaned over to grab a quick kiss once you had sat down.
“Hey baby, what’s up?” You asked, resting your hands on the table.
“What? Can’t I just want to see my girl?” He asked with mock offense.
“Usually you send an S.O.S. when you want to ditch. Is that what we’re doing?” You wondered impishly.
“Well, yes. But, I also wanted to ask you something.” He said, grabbing your hands in his and looking up at you with a soft smile. You cocked your head at this.
“I was wondering if you would go to the Sweetheart Dance with me, sweetheart?” He finished with a playful raise of his eyebrows on the pet name.
“Wait. You’re asking me to the dance?” You asked, confused. You couldn’t believe you were hearing this.
“Well, yeah. You mentioned going, and I’ll admit, it’s not something I usually do. But you want to go. So I want to take you.” He said sweetly, biting his lip in anticipation, for some reason nervous that you’d reject him.
“Are you sure Eddie?” You pressed, not wanting to force him to do something he’d hate.
“More than sure. I’m not gonna lie, I’d love to see you in a pretty dress and, don’t tell anyone, but I love dancing to shitty love songs with you.” Eddie said, leaning forward to leave a chaste kiss on your cheek. “So what do you say babe? Will you go with me?”
You beamed at your boyfriend and squeezed his hands, “Of course I will.” You leaned towards the man and peppered his lips with excited kisses. “Thank you for doing this honey.”
“Anything for you, sweet thing.” He grinned, “Well since we’re already out of school, how about we go back to my place?” You nodded and the two of you stood up and made your way to Eddie’s van hand in hand.
~ Saturday ~
“Can you try on the red one again?” Robin asked from her chair near the dressing room. You were at a store in a mall a town over, trying on dresses for the dance. The day before, you had gone to class and told your friend how Eddie asked you to go and you asked her to help you find a dress. You had found the style you wanted, a pretty knee length off the shoulder satin dress, but couldn’t decide on what color to go with.
You went back into the dressing room and changed into the red version of the dress, you then walked out and your mom helped you zip up. You did a spin in front of the women, “What do you think? Is it too cliche to wear red for Valentine’s Day?”
“Not when you look like that in it.” Robin said honestly, receiving a chuckle from your mom.
“You do really look amazing in it sweetie.” She said from her spot next to Robin.
“Thank you, I just want to look nice for Eddie.” You responded, still unsure.
“You could show up in a trash bag and I think Eddie still wouldn’t be able to take his eyes off of you.” Your friend joked, you flushed at the comment.
“You know, I wore a red dress like this to my Sweetheart Dance too.” Your mother stated, “It’s the night your dad and I got together.” She smiled at the interested looks you and Robin shared. “It was junior year, he had been working himself up to ask me for 2 weeks, worried that I’d say no. He didn’t know that I had a crush on him for 3 years at that point, so he spent the whole night trying to impress and flirt with me.” You watched as she seemed to smile brighter at the memory. “I remember we were dancing to This Magic Moment and he had just finished telling me this stupid joke, and I got this feeling thatI knew that this was the man I was going to marry. And the rest is history I guess.”
“I never knew it was at the Sweetheart Dance.” You smiled.
“Yeah, I didn’t think it was necessary to tell you which dance. I didn’t know you would be going to the same dance at the same school nearly 23 years later.” She said with a chuckle. “So what do you think? Which color?”
You looked at yourself in the mirror one last time, “I’ll go with the red.” Returning the smiles the women were giving you.
~ Friday February 14th ~
The dance was in full swing, you were dancing to a Madonna song with Robin and some of her band friends, catching the eye of your date every now and then from his spot at your table, an amused look on his face as he watched you.
Robin had been right, Eddie hadn’t been able to take his eyes off you all night, since the moment he entered your house with a matching corsage his eyes had been glued to you. He had even frozen in his step for a moment when he first saw you, your dads laughter being what broke him out of it and he had simply said, “You look amazing sweetheart.”
Eddie made his way across the gym as the song faded and the next one started up, Faithfully by Journey. He presented his hand to you when he reached you, “May I have this dance, princess?” He asked with a sweet smile. You returned it as you took his hand and he pulled you flush with him, he wrapped his arms around your waist as yours went around his neck. “I can’t believe I get to dance with the most beautiful girl all of Hawkins.”
“You get to date her too.” You laughed lightly to yourself.
“I know! I’m the luckiest, aren’t I?” He said back, resting his forehead against yours. “They say that the road
Ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line, it's been you and me
And lovin' a music man
Ain't always what it's supposed to be
Oh, girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours, faithfully.” Eddie sang along with the song.
You felt yourself flush as you saw the look of utter adoration come across the metalheads face, never having been looked at like that before. You pressed your lips to his in a passionate kiss, trying to put all your feelings that you didn’t have the courage to say outloud into it. You knew that you wanted to be by his side for as long as Eddie would have you.
~
Saturday, March 8, 1986
“Eddie? Baby? Are you home?” You called as you entered the trailer. You had helped your grandma run errands today and Eddie wasn’t expecting you for another hour but you knew he wouldn’t mind if you came by earlier. You had been knocking on the front door for a few minutes with no answer, but you know that he was home from his van that was parked out front. You didn’t see him in the living room. Maybe he was napping? Or listen to music with headphones? You made your way down the hall that led to his bedroom, a soft strumming of a guitar coming from the open door.
“Ed-” You froze in the doorway. There he was, sitting on the edge of the bed with his back to you, his guitar in his hands and headphone over his ears as he played along with what he was listening to, seeming to be trying to teach himself. But it was that reason that you paused, the song that he was listening to was your favorite, The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin.
“This is the springtime of my loving-
The second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing-
So little warmth I've felt before.
It isn't hard to feel me glowing-
I watched the fire that grew so low.”
He sang out as he strummed along with the song. You knew you wanted to hear more, not believing that he was learning this song, your heart clenching at the gesture. But you felt like you were intruding, he clearly hadn’t meant for you to hear it like this. You walked up to him and gently placed your hand on his shoulder, getting his attention.
Eddie jumped when he felt your hand, thinking that he was alone. He pulled the headphones off his head quickly and looked up at you, a blush creeping to his cheeks at getting caught. “Hey baby, I wasn’t expecting you so soon.”
“Yeah, we got done early, I’m sorry, I didn’t think you would mind. I- I didn’t mean to interrupt you.” You said quickly.
“No, it’s okay dolly. I was just hoping to surprise you at the show next week.” He said with a shy chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck anxiously.
You sat next to him, turned to him so you could see him fully. “Will you play it for me? Please?”
Eddie looked slightly surprised at your request, the blush on his cheeks deepened  a bit as he wetted his lips nervously, “Yeah I can do that sweetheart.” He said softly. He turned to you so you were both facing each other now, he looked up at you as he started playing again, picking up where he had left off.
“It is the summer of my smiles-
Flee from me keepers of the gloom.
Speak to me only with your eyes
It is to you I give this tune.
Ain't so hard to recognize-
These things are clear to all from
Time to time. Ooooh…
 Talk talk-
I've felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us...
But i know that I love you so”
Eddie looked into your eyes as he sang to you, trying to put as much emotion into the lyrics and his expression as he could.
“But I know that I love you so.
These are the seasons of emotion
And like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion-
I see the torch we all must hold.
This is the mystery of the quotient-
Upon us all a little rain
Must fall, just a little rain?
Ooooh, yeah yeah yeah!”
You bit your lip when he finished the nearly 8 minute song, trying to keep your emotions back. Did he mean it? Or was it just because they were the lyrics to the song? You knew how you felt about Eddie, you knew it since the dance at least, if not longer, but you knew you loved him and you hoped that he felt the same way. Was this the confirmation?
“Do you-uhm- did you mean the lyrics Eddie?” You asked tentatively.
You saw Eddie gulp, he searched your eyes for a moment before slowly nodding his head. “I love you Y/N L/N.” He said confidently.
You felt the smile that broke out on your face as you reached out and cupped Eddies face, you pulled him to you in an emotional kiss, pulling back after a few moments breathlessly, “I love you too Eddie Munson.” You watched him beam up at you before your lips were on each other again.

We all know it's 2 failed exams... 😉 Your Strawberry
A second attempt
The first time he had failed the entrance exam, it had taken a lot out of him. He had been angry because he just wasn't used to failing. He had shone in all the exams of the last few years. He had even passed his school-leaving exams with very good results after initial difficulties at the new school. Failures were a long time ago. As a boy, he had failed the piano school entrance exam. At the second attempt he had asked to audition with the same teacher and he had made it. He never gave up and that was why he had made this second attempt.
So this time too he had decided to try again. If he do this training, he would have many opportunities. Still, there was a little voice in his head warning him that his heart was not in it. There were others who worked harder than him. In the past that would have driven him, but at the moment he lacked the ambition to want to be better.
He knew exactly why he had failed the first exam and he was sure he would fail the second one too. At the moment, studying was not a priority for him. His thoughts were only about two things, the theatre and her. As often as he could, he taught a small drama group. His fellow students had stared at him in horror when he had told them this once. They had assumed that he played theatre himself. But that phase was behind him. Back then, she had been his theatre teacher and he could not imagine anyone else telling him how to play. That memory was inseparable from her. But by teaching himself, he felt closer to her and if he was honest with himself, he had to admit that his thoughts were constantly only with her. He neglected everything just to think of her or to be with her. As often as they could, they met. He was so in love.
Since he was aware of it, it no longer bothered him to perhaps fail the second exam and as he had suspected, the second attempt also failed. At first he felt disappointment, but at the same time a weight fell from his shoulders. He would not try again, for this did not seem to be his way. But he was sure that he would find his way. Sometimes in life you have to take detours to arrive and he would arrive, with her.
As he walked to his lodgings, he was at peace with himself and the world. Amazed, he saw her waiting at his door. Beaming, he came to meet her and took her elatedly in his arms. "You came," he stated happily. She laughed. "Can I congratulate you?" she asked excitedly. He broke away from the embrace, unlocked the door and pulled her into his flat. Then he embraced her face and explained, "No, I failed the second time too." The adorable smile that had lit up her face froze and she looked at him in shock. "Then why are you so happy?" she brought out. He smiled. "I accept it. It wasn't meant to be. It's not my way." He had to smile at her horror.
"The first time you failed, you were devastated. You stood outside my door and..." He put a finger to her lips and stopped her from continuing. "Don't remind me of that, please," he demanded. "That was wounded vanity. I realised I didn't really take it seriously the first time or the second." Questioningly, she looked at him. "What do you mean?" He sighed and rested his forehead against hers. "My thoughts and my feelings are yours alone right now." He smiled. She broke away from him and shook her head. "I was afraid of something like this." Nervously, she bit her lower lip.
He clasped her chin and traced her lips with his thumb. "This is not your fault. I feel this way is just not my way." "But I'm distracting you," she said softly, looking at him apologetically. "Oh yes," he admitted. "For the first time, studying is no longer at the top of my list and it's liberating." He pressed a kiss to her lips. "I'm happy with you. I feel alive because I love you." "But," she began and he shook his head. "No buts," he demanded. "It's fine the way it is. Last time you said it was just a test and you were right." That elicited a smile from her and he began to kiss her tenderly.
Helloooo sweet 🍓! ❤️
Totally different reaction the second time Hahaha and I like this one better hahaha it’s like I could even feel his peace of mind and sort of happiness reading your piece 🥰
Exam? Who cares about the exam? Hahaha Manu was just ready to fully concentrate on Brigitte again 😋🤭😏
The idea of Emmanuel teaching a small drama group... oh my!!

MAIN STORY : CHAPTER 3 PART 5
MAN IN BLACK 1 : Aaah!! What the hell!? How is this guy so strong? MAN IN BLACK 2 : No! Please forgive us! CROW : Phew! Looks like I'm on a roll! That'll teach you to ambush me and beat me up! MAN IN BLACK 3 : We're the ones getting beat up here! KAI : Okay, calm down Crow, it looks like you already broke some bones. If you keep hitting 'em, you're gonna wind up in jail. MEN IN BLACK : Just leave us alone!
ITSUKI : Then talk. Why did you target us? MAN IN BLACK 1 : We're agents of a family called the Kingsleys. They're rivals of the Bloody Lady. CROW : The Bloody Lady!? MAN IN BLACK 2 : We heard that the Bloody Lady has been smuggling in all sorts of weird, illegal shit, and so we're trying to find out what it is. MAN IN BLACK 3 : We thought you mighta been related to them. NOAH : Fools. MAN IN BLACK 1 : Damn it, and we were doing so good until the attack on the courier. Seriously, what was that shit in the bag? It's making our people crazy! KAI : Crazy, how? MAN IN BLACK 3 : One of our men who got hit with that shit is in really bad shape. He's been flailing around and moaning. It's like he's possessed by something. NOAH : Possessed? CROW : Hey, it didn't happen to be a weirdly shaped gun, did it? MAN IN BLACK 3 : A gun? No. It was black powder. ITSUKI : Black powder? MAN IN BLACK 2 : That's right. The more you breathe in, the more fucked up you get. MAN IN BLACK 3 : Okay, we told you everything, now let us go! KAI : Wait. Take us to them.

SEVEN : ………… EMMA : Seven! What are you doing here? SEVEN : What am I doing? What are you doing? EMMA : I was just thinking… SEVEN : I see. Well, I prefer meat over fish. But, whatever you think is fine. EMMA : Hmm? Oh, no, Seven, I wasn't thinking about dinner. SEVEN : By the way, is the study down this hallway? EMMA : The study? I was told that there is only a storeroom for supplies. SEVEN : Thanks… EMMA : No, Seven! That's not the way! Ignoring me, Seven headed down the hallway toward the storeroom. EMMA : (What should I do? Should I go after him?)
EMMA : (I thought Seven headed this way…) As I headed down the long hallway, the hustle and bustle from the main floor got quieter and quieter. Eventually, all I could hear was the sound of my own footsteps echoing eerily off the walls. EMMA : (I should go back and check. I don't want to be separated from the others for long.) NAVI : Hey, master~ EMMA : N-Navi! I told you to stay in the key! NAVI : Look over there!
When I looked in the direction Navi had pointed, I saw a half-open door swinging back and forth. Making a squeaking noise. EMMA : (Is that the supply room? I wonder if Seven went in there…) EMMA : Navi, go back in the key. NAVI : I don't wanna! EMMA : Then at least stay here and hide. Please. Leaving the reluctant Navi behind, I swallow hard and bit my lip, taking a step toward the door and grabbing the handle. EMMA : Seven? I hesitantly push the door open. Feeling my heart hammering painfully in my chest. Hand shaking from fear. But, there is no sign of Seven inside.

However, the dimly lit room is full of items that did not belong in a normal casino. There were a great number of weapons, bundles of dirty banknotes, machine parts, medicines, bandages, and other things that looked like they didn't belong here. NAVI : Wow! So many fun toys to play with! HIMMEL : It stinks in here. It's the smell of misery. NAVI : Haha! My master is frozen with her eyes wide open! EMMA : (There are a lot of guns in here…Why would a casino need these…? Could they belong to the Bloody Lady? Hm…They don't look like the same kind of guns that shoot Black Fairies.) I reach for the weapons in order to examine them a little more closely when… ?? : Don't move.
