Whispers of Lost Love - Veronica Lodge x reader
Tumblr media
[summary: reader and veronica were in a relationship, veronica ends it due to her family/personal problems. later veronica misses the reader but the damage was already done.]
Masterlist
The city streets were painted with the hues of twilight, a melancholic setting that mirrored the storm of emotions within your heart. Veronica Lodge, the woman who had once been the melody of your life, now stood before you like a distant star whose light had faded. The love you had shared, once a symphony of passion and promise, had transformed into a haunting melody of heartbreak.
Veronica's gaze held a mixture of sadness and regret, her lips quivering as if struggling to find the right words. "We need to talk," she said softly, her voice carrying the weight of a decision that could alter the course of your lives.
You let out a nervous laugh, "Everything alright V?" you have an idea of what's to come even though you don't want to believe it. After all, nothing ever comes with your girlfriend saying, we need to talk.
The two of you found yourselves on the balcony of your favorite coffee shop, a place that had once been the backdrop to whispered confessions and shared laughter. Now, the air was heavy with tension, the space between you a chasm that seemed impossible to bridge.
"What is it, Veronica?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper, though the fear of what she might say seemed to amplify your words.
She took a deep breath, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I think… I think we should break up."
The words hung in the air like a dissonant chord, shattering the fragile remains of the love you had once nurtured. Your heart seemed to stop, the pain of her declaration a piercing ache that radiated through your chest.
"I don't understand," you managed to say, your voice trembling with a mixture of confusion and hurt.
Veronica's gaze never left yours, her expression torn between sorrow and determination. "(Y/n), I love you, but our paths are... diverging. My family's legacy, the expectations... I'm suffocating, and I... I can't be the person you deserve right now."
Tears blurred your vision as you struggled to process her words. The love that had once felt like an unbreakable bond was now unraveling, slipping through your fingers like mere grains of sand.
"Why didn't you talk to me about this? We could have faced it together," you said, your voice a blend of hurt and desperation.
Veronica's shoulders slumped, the weight of her decision evident in her posture. She had tears streaming down her face now, "I thought I could handle it on my own. I thought I was protecting you."
The pain in your chest deepened, the ache of betrayal mingling with the sorrow of losing the person who had meant the world to you. The city lights twinkled around you, a stark contrast to the darkness that seemed to have settled within your heart.
Days turned into weeks, and the emptiness left by Veronica's absence in your life was a constant reminder of the love you had lost. The places you had once explored together and had filled you with happiness and joy, were now tinged with bittersweet memories, the laughter and shared moments haunting your thoughts like a poignant melody.
You found yourself navigating through life, the once-familiar routine now a chore. The ache of missing Veronica was an ever-present companion, a shadow that seemed to grow longer with each passing day. The lyrics of the songs you once loved held new meanings, resonating with the emotions you were unable to express.
One evening, as the rain pattered against your window, a message notification broke the silence of your solitude. It was from Veronica—an invitation to meet at a place that had once been your sanctuary.
With a mixture of trepidation and longing, you knew you shouldn't but you found yourself at the familiar park bench, the place where you had shared secrets, dreams, and your love. Veronica was already there, her gaze a mixture of sadness and regret. She stood up when she saw you approach,
"(Y/n), I miss you," she said softly, her voice carrying the weight of unspoken emotions.
Your heart ached at her words, the flood of memories overwhelming. "Veronica, why did you end things if you miss me?"
She looked down, her fingers nervously tracing patterns on her lap. "I thought I was doing what was best for both of us. But I've realized that losing you hurt more than any challenge I face."
Tears welled in your eyes as you stared at the person who had once been your everything, now standing before you with a vulnerability that mirrored your own.
"Is there a chance for us?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
You hesitated, the wounds of her decision still fresh. "Veronica, you walked away from us."
She reached for your hand, her touch a fragile lifeline in the sea of pain. "I was wrong, and I regret it every day. But I still love you."
The rain intensified around you, the drops echoing the tears that were threatening to fall from your eyes. The memories of your love story flooded your thoughts—the laughter, the promises, the dreams you had shared.
With a heavy heart, you pulled your hand away. "Veronica, what we had was beautiful, but it's different now. I can't go back to the way things were."
She bowed her head, barely giving a light nod, her shoulders shaking with the weight of her sorrow. "I understand."
The silence that followed was filled with the echoes of a love that had once been everything, and now was a haunting reminder of what could have been.
As you walked away, the raindrops mingled with your tears, each step taking you further from the woman who had once held your heart.
THE END

Mistletoe Kiss | Reggie Mantle
Tumblr media
[gif is not mine; all credit goes to the creator]
Pairing: Reggie Mantle x Fem!Reader
Description: It’s Christmas time in Riverdale, which means it’s the Lodge’s annual Christmas party, and a kiss under the mistletoe with Reggie yields surprising results.
Warnings: underage drinking, mentions of sex at a party
Word Count: 2K
A/N: Takes place mid-season 4, as that’s all I’ve seen of the show at the moment
- - -
The Vince Guaraldi Trio’s version of O Tannenbaum played softly throughout Apartment 330 at The Pembrooke, adding the finishing touch to the Christmas atmosphere both inside and outside.
You shrugged out of your warm faux-fur winter coat, taking care to brush the snowflakes out of your hair - beauty had its price, and that meant no hat or Snuggs to keep your feet warm. Beside you, Reggie handed his own jacket to Smithers who then retreated to hang them up.
“Champagne?” A cocktail waitress asked, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
“Thank you.” You smiled, grabbing a flute off the tray and taking a demure sip. Reggie followed suit and the two of you started making the rounds at the party.
“I’m so glad you two could make it!” Veronica gushed, bringing both you and Reggie in for a hug, her own glass of champagne in her hand that you knew was far from her first.
“I made Reggie pick me up ‘cause there was no way in hell I was driving in all that snow.”
You could practically feel Reggie’s chest puff up at your compliment. “Bella and I are always down to save a damsel in distress.”
Both you and Veronica laughed, but you knew there was more history behind hers. While you and Reggie had always just been friends, you were well aware of the feelings between Reggie and Veronica. It was no secret that Reggie was still hung up on her even though Veronica and Archie were trying to make their relationship work for the umpteenth time. You had managed to convince Reggie to come to this party tonight, if only to try to help him move on, but even now you weren’t sure that was going to happen.
“Where’s everyone else?” You asked, hoping to break the awkward silence.
“Check over by the tree.” Veronica pointed with her champagne flute.
Reggie placed his hand on your lower back as the two of you made your way over to the elaborately-decorated Christmas tree, and you couldn’t help enjoying the contact. His touch was warm and solid, and it reminded you of just how single you were. You took a big gulp of your champagne, trying to relay to your brain that the hand on your back was that of your friend and nothing more.
“You’re here!” Betty hugged you tightly in greeting while Reggie dapped up Archie and Jughead. You gave Cheryl a small smile, both of you nodding at the other as your own form of hello.
“You’re all welcome - I had to promise to pick her up to even get her to consider coming to this,” Reggie joked, making you playfully swat at his arm when everyone laughed. “Am I wrong, though?”
“Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Jug just put snow tires on his motorcycle today.” Betty rested her head on her boyfriend’s shoulder. “Up ‘til this morning, I’d forgotten those even existed.”
You were about to open your mouth to say something when Moose and Kevin came out of the bathroom looking disheveled. Moose fixed the collar of his shirt while Kevin was busy rearranging his far-from-ugly Christmas sweater.
“Make sure to, uh, mind the mistletoe,” Kevin murmured, a blush tinging his cheeks as he and Moose shared a look but staunchly refused eye contact with anyone else.
“Where is it?” Jughead gave a look of his own to Betty and you didn’t even want to think about what the two of them were planning for later.
“Above the fireplace. Odd choice if you ask me, but I’m sure the Lodges don’t want people making out all over their property.”
“As someone who just got done doing a little more than making out on the Lodge’s property with you, I can’t say I blame them - even if it was fun as hell,” Moose teased, making Kevin blush an even darker shade of red.
Everyone laughed at that, and you could finally feel the champagne starting to kick in. You placed your empty glass onto a tray when the next waiter came by and picked up another along the way. Appetizers were all around but nothing was appealing to you yet, and you were happy to sip champagne with your friends.
- - -
“I have an idea,” you whispered to Reggie after you’d caught him staring at Archie and Veronica for the tenth time in five minutes. “It’s crazy, but just hear me out.”
“Oh, boy, I’m gonna regret this, aren’t I?” Reggie rolled his eyes, grabbing some pigs in a blanket for each of you.
“Probably.” You took a bite of the food, happy to finally have something in your stomach after two and a half glasses of champagne. “I think…you should kiss me under the mistletoe.”
Reggie’s eyes were wide when he turned to face you. “I’m already regretting this, but go on.”
“You want Veronica, but she’s with Archie, right? So, let’s make her jealous. If it doesn’t work, we can blame it on the alcohol or pretend it never happened. But if it does, we can show her that you’ve moved on and it could force her to face her feelings for you if she thinks she can’t string you along anymore.”
“Hmm.” Reggie thought about it as he chewed his food, looking over at Veronica and Archie again. Archie had just said something to make Veronica laugh, and you could see Reggie’s jaw clench as he watched her lean into her current boyfriend. “Meet me under the mistletoe in five minutes?”
Your stomach dipped at the question as you nodded. “Five minutes.”
It turned out to be reasonably easy to get yourself over to the fireplace. Your holly green sweater dress was warm but the v neck and three-quarter length sleeves coupled with strappy heels and without tights was enough to leave you shivering and with an excuse to warm up.
Some trays of cookies had been set out and you took it upon yourself to grab one of the red and green sprinkled sugar cookies, happy with the texture when you bit into it.
Just as you were about to pick up another cookie after polishing the first one off, you felt a hand on your shoulder spinning you around. You sucked in a breath as your palms landed on Reggie’s chest. “Is Veronica looking?”
“Guess we’ll find out.”
You didn’t have time to think after that, Reggie’s lips colliding with yours in a kiss that took your breath away. His hand splayed out across your lower back, making sure you were flush against him; his other hand cupped your face gently before possessively gripping the back of your neck. You clutched at his bicep, unsure where to put your hands without causing even more of a scene than you were sure you and Reggie were causing with such a public kiss.
The kiss ended much sooner than you wanted it to - a realization that surprised you. Reggie stared back at you in shock and you were sure the same expression had to be mirrored on your face.
“Hold on,” you murmured, reaching for his lips to wipe away your lipstick that had transferred. “There.” You cleared your throat, looking away and staunchly refusing to make eye contact.
“Thanks.” Reggie looked over in Veronica’s general direction and you did the same, noting how upset she looked before excusing herself to her bedroom.
“What are you waiting for?” You asked when Reggie seemed to hesitate. “Go talk to her.”
“Are you gonna be okay?”
Your stomach dipped at the caring tone in his voice and it took everything in you to nod your head. “Uh, yeah, of course.” You couldn’t help but stare longingly at Reggie’s retreating form as he chased after Veronica.
“Oh my god. What was that kiss?!” Betty whispered, sidling up to you and handing you a mug of boozy hot chocolate. “I didn’t know you and Reggie were together!”
“Thanks.” You took a sip, hoping the warmth would soothe your racing heartbeat. “We’re not. Uh, together, I mean.”
Betty gave you a look. “You don’t have to lie to me - I can keep a secret. You don’t kiss a friend like that. And besides, I’ve always suspected you and Reggie had feelings for each other; this just confirms it.” You must have given her a skeptic look because she continued, “You look at him the way I used to look at Archie before I figured out we weren’t compatible like that, but something tells me you and Reggie are the opposite of me and Archie.”
“Well, that kiss was just to see if Veronica still wanted him, so I don’t think your theory is correct.”
“Guess we’ll see about that.” Betty smirked as both of you watched Reggie stormed out of Veronica’s bedroom with her in tow.
A wave of guilt hit you as you realize that you probably just broke up Archie and Veronica while also letting Reggie get rejected by his ex.
“We’re leaving,” Reggie growled, taking you by the elbow and practically dragging you to the front door where Smithers magically had your coats ready to go. The valet had Bella waiting, too, and you started to get suspicious at the timing of all of it but the serious look on Reggie’s face silenced you.
The drive back to your house was quiet, not even Christmas music coming from the radio to drown out your racing thoughts. Reggie stared straight ahead, white-knuckling the steering wheel on the freshly snow-plowed roads.
Reggie shut off the engine in front of your house but neither of you made a move to get out.
“So,” you said into the silence, “how did your talk with Veronica go?”
The muscle in Reggie’s jaw clenched again and desire shot through you as you remembered what it felt like to kiss him under the mistletoe. “It was…eye-opening.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means she and I talked and she told me some things that I needed to hear.”
“Things like…?” You were even more confused, and now you were starting to shiver as the warm air began to dissipate with the engine off.
Reggie let out a sigh, leaning his head back on the headrest and closing his eyes for a moment. “Things like how she and Archie are focusing on their relationship and how she and I are over for good…and how apparently it’s obvious to everyone but you and me that we have feelings for each other.”
Now it was your turn to be too stunned to speak. Part of you wanted to laugh at the absurdity of the statement, but another part of you knew that laughing wasn’t the right call here. “And she was serious?!”
Reggie looked over at you and your eyes met his for the first time since you two had left the party. “It’s Veronica - of course she was serious.”
The look on his face was too intense for you but you didn’t look away this time, your fingers playing with the skirt of your dress as a distraction. “Reggie…”
“I know, I know. Veronica is wrong, the kiss was a mistake. I know.”
“I wasn’t going to say that.” You wanted to reach for him so badly, but stopped yourself. “I…felt something when we kissed. I didn’t think I was going to when I suggested it but I haven’t stopped thinking about it.”
Silence engulfed the car once again, and this time you couldn’t stand it. You reached for your bag and opened the door, shutting it behind you as you got out and made your way to the front door. You could hear Reggie shout your name, the sound of his own car door shutting as he chased after you in the snow.
You paused at the door to rummage through your bag for your keys and it was at that point that Reggie caught up to you. He was out of breath, his cheeks pink from the cold. “I can’t stop thinking about that kiss, either. Can we try again, just us?”
All you could do was nod as you stepped closer to him. “Kiss me again, Reggie,” you whispered, winding your arms around his neck as he leaned down to kiss you.

Pick and Choose - Love For The Dismissive
Riverdale
Warnings: angsty as fuck, dismissive reader, persistent Cheryl, hopeless Toni, WE LOVE CHONI, happy ending, all things considered,
Pairings: Cheryl Blossom x fem!reader
Word Count: 1798
AN: I forgot to post this here😢
--------
Cheryl and Toni just broke up. The famous Choni is now just Cheryl and Toni. It broke hearts left and right, namely the River Vixens, Cheryl's "inner circle", and the serpents. Both women grieved in different ways. Toni drank an unnecessary amount of alcohol within the day, while Cheryl was being more of a menace than usual.
It was only three weeks after their break-up when Cheryl approached you. Well, more like pestered you. You were the type of person to not give two shits about nearly everything. Your focus remained on your studies and Harvard. So when Cheryl Blossom spoke to you for the first time since freshmen year, you knew it could only be trouble.
If you were being completely honest, you were indifferent to the whole shebang. You've never paid attention to Cheryl before, nor cared about daily updates about the hottest tea in the school that Cheryl would tell you about. It was fun at first, but now it was getting quite irritating. You enjoyed your solitude greatly, so to have Cheryl sticking to you, was definitely taking a toll on you.
It started with getting distracted during class. You nearly even fell asleep during one because of how late you had to stay up the previous night just to entertain Cheryl enough to tire her out. Your mind was overtaken by the things Cheryl would talk to you about. Especially the part where she saw Betty and Archie kissing while they were both in good relationships.
You don't know why it bothered you so much, but when you came to school, you were already expecting Cheryl to be by your locker, leaving you no time to plot an escape plan for the day. It seemed Cheryl never ran out of things to talk to you about, and boy was it tiring as fuck.
Then came the day when Cheryl "confessed" her feelings for you. She claimed that she has liked you for longer than she could even remember and that all she wanted was for you to give her a chance. When you rejected her, you can swear you saw the anger build up within her, but to your surprise, her voice was calm and almost teasing.
You half-expected your dynamic with Cheryl to change, and it did, for the most part. She still stuck around you, the story-telling an unending tale, but now the redhead was being touchy. Her hands would grip your biceps whenever the two of you walked the halls. When all was silent between the two of you, Cheryl would rest her head on your shoulder while holding your hand. to add to that, Cheryl also bought you gifts, and she would give them to you throughout the day randomly. Every single day, she had a gift ready to give you. So much so that it worried you she would run out of money because of it.
Cheryl would get you flowers, chocolates, and your favorite food, and she even got you a necklace and a promise ring. Once, she took you out for shopping and when you muttered about finding something cute, not knowing Cheryl heard you, she bought it and surprised you with it when the both of you got to her Thistle house. She would do all of these sweet things for you daily, and, honestly, you couldn't lie and say it didn't make you feel wanted. It was nice to finally feel like this after so much grief and agony.
Right now, you were sitting in the library reading a book while Cheryl sat on your lap, cuddling the life out of you. You tried your best to ignore the woman, but she proved to be a very persistent person.
"Please, Y/N, I beg thee. Give me a chance," She begged the millionth time this week. "I promise to treat you so well. My love for you will be the most exquisite thing you shall ever experience."It was quite rewarding to hear the Cheryl Bombshell beg for you, but it, honestly, was starting to bother the people who were trying to do the same thing you were.
"Will you hush? People are getting disturbed by your futile efforts to have me." You relayed, "Besides, I refuse to allow myself to become your rebound.
Cheryl gasped rather dramatically at your deduction of her emotions, "How dare you think so little of my love for you. My love is of the highest price and you shall be grateful for me giving it to you for free! I swear on Thornhill that my love for you is genuine. Believe me, Y/N, my feelings for you are true and my words are trustworthy."
You visibly cringed at Cheryl's raised voice, buried traumatic experiences rising to the surface like they were undead. Heads turned to you and Cheryl, including the librarian's, and that caused you to make the most unthought-of answer to ever exist.
"Fine, fine, I accept!" You whisper shouted, already regretting your choices in life. "Just be quiet."
"Oh, my Y/N, I knew you would come to your senses! Because of this, we must celebrate such a special occasion. Our first date being official." Cheryl spoke with the fakest bright smile you had ever seen. It made you want to roll your eyes. You had not the time for her shenanigans.
Cheryl stood, extending her hand to you, "Come, come my love. We must relocate for this special moment." You merely obeyed silently, taking your book with you.
Throughout your way to wherever Cheryl was taking you, you noticed Cheryl texting on her phone a lot. It's not like you were suspicious, you were just curious. I mean, what could be so interesting that would take her attention away from this "special moment"? It, truly, is only a matter of time. You only rolled your eyes, opting to just let your mind take you away while Cheryl led you somewhere you cared not to know.
When you finally zoned back into the present time, you noticed how you have now moved to Veronica's underground speakeasy. The whole place was mainly empty, the only people occupying the space being you, Cheryl, and a Bartender. Said bartender approached the two of you and led you to the only table in the speakeasy.
Hmm.
It looked romantic, you had to give Cheryl that, but the thought of this being just a big ploy was still very persistent in your mind. The both of you sat down and you were immediately served with food that looked to be above your daily budget in a week combined. You internally inhaled deeply at this, honestly terrified that you might be the one paying for all that was being brought to your table.
You so could not afford this. Unlike Cheryl, you weren't born to a well-off family. In fact, all you knew was that you grew up in a very uncaring orphanage. Sure, you and the kids there looked out for each other, but you still were not as close to them as they were with each other.
"My dear, I hope I got your meal right. You are allergic to peanuts, correct?"
You perked up, "Yes, very."
"I thought so." Cheryl smiled at you and started eating, and you took that as your queue to start eating too. Until she spoke again, "So since we are now official, it would bring me great joy to know more about you."
You swallowed, "Okay?" You really had no idea what to say to that or how to respond. "What do you want me to do?"
"Why, spill the beans, of course! I mean, you don't expect us to just dine here in silence, right?" Her sass. Ugh, her sass.
"Kind of, yes. Well, I grew up in an orphanage and when I turned sixteen, they threw me out. I've been working at Pop's ever since just to get by." You didn't want to get into the nitty-gritty details of your tragic life. Even though you knew that there definitely would not be any judgment, you still wanted to keep all of those to yourself, no matter how many times the school counselor told you that it would help to relay that kind of stuff to someone you knew you could trust.
"Oh, dear/ I'm so sorry to hear that." Cheryl grabbed your hand, "I hope you know that it can only get better from here. Keep strong, my love, you will have my full support throughout all of this pain."
And the cycle repeated. Cheryl would buy you gifts, take you on dates, be clingy with you, and tell you how much she appreciates you. It shocked you to see just how soft Cheryl truly was. This made you wonder if this was how Cheryl was with Toni. They always seemed like an unfinished chapter. Sometimes you wondered if Cheryl still had feelings for Toni. I mean, of course, she did. They made each other better, they fit each other like a glove, and they are like each other's missing puzzle pieces. They completed each other. It seemed impossible for them to be wholly over.
As you read your book, finally in the comfort of your own home all alone one afternoon, it seemed your book was uninteresting. This disturbed you greatly considering how you saved up for this book for most of four weeks. You felt oddly dull, and this made you mark your book and toss it across your bed in frustration as the last sentence made absolutely no sense to you. You slid your body down your bed, sighing heavily when none of the activities you thought of doing seemed to interest you.
You'd been feeling like this for three weeks and you did not understand it at all. it was like there was this weight dragging you back, making it feel like time was at a standstill. So, you just lay there, unmoving in the silence. At some point, you found yourself talking to yourself out loud yet you made no move to stop. you simply took note of the fact that you were likely going crazy.
"I mean, it's not like it's my fault. I just don't want her." You sighed, "I mean, I do, but I don't know. it's like I want to let her in, but some part of me is saying a hard no. It's pretty stupid honestly."
It went on like that for... you don't know how long. The last thing you remember saying before coming back to the world was "This is just my defense mechanism." Now upon returning to your conscious body, you robotically sat up and went to the kitchen to fish for something to chew on. God, you were starving. To your luck, you found bread and peanut butter in your pantry.
I guess you're going on a diet.

Ftm!Jughead Jones x male!reader
This is set in season 5, when theyre adults:)
NSFW!!
This font: Jughead
This font: M/N (male name)
Jughead was never really into guys.I mean- he once admitted to Betty in high school years that hes realised that hes bisexual. He was working at pops, as a waiter. He and his old friends are trying to make Riverdale alive again, and he barely had any money, so he had to work as a waiter AND a teacher. As you walked in he sighed, while greeting you and giving you a menu. You ordered and while he was taking your order he realised how cute you were.Your voice, your hair, your eyes, your nose, your lips...He found them perfect.Even hot, actually."Hey- arent you the guy who wrote that book?I think its name was-" "the outcasts?Yeah thats me." He finished your sentence. He smiled at you softly, too.He liked you even more now. "hey- mind if i sit down with you while you eat?I doubt any customers will come in." "No, actually, i dont.Feel free." "Thanks-...." "M/N." "Right, M/N....Hey, another question...You wanna come to mine after my shift? Its almost over." Jughead asked with a bit of hidden excitement and horniness in his voice."yeah, sure." God, Jughead was so happy, that someone actually agreed to come to his house. He hasnt felt like this since- Betty....But he didnt want to think about that, all he wanted to think about was you at the moment. "Alright then, its a date." Soon Jugheads shift ended.Since there wasnt much people at the diner at this hour, you two were just talking most of the time. You waited till he got his stuff and the two of you left. You and Jug made your way to his house. You took your jacket/hoodie off (if you were wearing one) and looked around. You knew he wants to hook up.I mean, why would someone randomly invite you to their house while they dont even know you?Oh, and how right you were about that hook up.He pinned you to the wall and immediatly started making out with you.I mean, hes pretty needy after such long time with barely any action.Even tho he hasnt done this shit for a while, he was still good at it.You took his shirt off, along with yours. He pulled your and his pants off, and continued kissing you.He found you very hot, and he just couldnt seem to get you off his mind.He put you down on the bed and switched places. You were now on top of him and he was now under you.He took his and your boxers off and you inserted two fingers into him and as your fingers went in and out, you curled them up.You knew how that would make him feel. When you got the sign that you can go in, you very certainly did.He let out the sluttiest fucking moan you have ever heard. You kept going, making him yelp and moan."mh- 'm gonna cum-" he whimpered, and came. You continued fucking into him, and clearly wanting to cum inside. He also made it clear that you can.Your thrusting sped up and it slowly got slow and sloppy as you came inside the boy.You plopped down next to him and kissed him.You two covered yourselves with the blanket, and fell asleep.

I love that we have so many ships in common and both love female characters who many seem not to like - Daphne Bridgerton, Elena Gilbert, Betty Cooper etc. :) I would love to hear why you prefer Barchie to Bughead! Based on what I remember, I preferred Bughead, but my opinion means very little here because I stopped watching around season 3 and have just seen clips of some scenes on youtube :)
Same! It's always exciting to find people who love under-appreciated female characters in particular :)
Actually, you have me beat! I didn't even finish season 1! I think Betty and Jughead had just kissed for the first time in the last episode I watched. But Betty is a character I love so much!
My answer is based more on the comics than the show because of this so I am a Betty/Archie girl all the way. I'm a sucker for a good best friends to lovers arc. But who knows how I'd feel about it if I'd actually watched more of the show!
Thank you for asking!

lying to herself cause her liquor's top shelf
1. betty tells her about archie’s fight.
veronica feels small and foolish and bitter, because there was a time when she would be the one telling betty about archie’s latest endeavors. maybe a better person wouldn’t feel that way—she walked out. she left him. she gave him up on a silver plate. she couldn’t handle staying—but she’s not a better person and she hasn’t pretended to be one in a while.
(it doesn’t really matter how she feels)
she sits next to toni, just another person in the crowd. once upon a time she’d be so much closer to the ring, right in his corner. she searches the gym, looks for betty, but she’s nowhere to be found.
jughead is there, though, instructing him and encouraging him and it should untie the knot in her stomach, but—
archie loses. archie gets beaten, repeatedly, and the sound of the boxing glove against his flesh, his bones, the ripping of his skin, is unbearable. there’s a cold sensation that takes over her body when his falls to the floor.
his blood is everywhere. she tastes something sick on her tongue.
jughead jumps into the ring to help get him up. she watches as the crowd falls suddenly quiet, and part of her thinks, archiekins, even though she forfeited the right to ever call him that again, oh, archiekins, thinks, you’re out of your mind, why are you doing this, why do you keep hurting yourself, thinks, why couldn’t you let me get you away from this godforsaken town? thinks, i love you, you idiot.
(it doesn’t really matter what she thinks)
2. here’s how things end between her and reggie.
she’d prefer if they were shouting at each other from across the living room—but there’s none of that. there is, instead, the resentment on his face. the hurled accusations. the piercing words. the haunting question that she calls moot, but that she can’t answer.
(there would be only one answer and it’s not the one he would want.)
he walks out the door. there are tears falling, but she understands—she knows that if he doesn’t leave, it won’t take long until he starts betting against her, and it’ll make it hard to breathe, and the anger will simmer into hate, and she’ll wake up every morning and look at him sleeping and wonder if she should suffocate him with a pillow until there’s a gunshot and blood on the carpet.
she’s been here before. she knows how it works.
3. most of the time it’s just her and her gambles, her money, her jewelry.
most of the time it’s just her and her fake empire.
most of the time, her mind reels.
long gone is the veronica from nyc party scene, sparkly makeup and drug-bubbly, getting in trouble to get her parents pick her up at school. long gone is the veronica from riverdale high and her cheerleader skirts, milkshakes in a booth with her once best friends. long gone is veronica gekko, the she wolf of wall street.
it’s crazy to think that she’s not even thirty yet but she’s already an ex-wife—a black widow, if you must, although that was self-defense. but there’s blood in her hands for as much as she tried to wash them off it. she feels too old and too young; lonely and agoraphobic at the same time.
she was born a lodge and for most of her life this is how she defined herself—a lodge—and she thinks maybe that’s why once she walked out on archie, she ended up back in the business, back with reggie, back to the closest she’s ever been to being the person her father dreamed her to be. she wasn’t going to be anything new, anything else, no matter what. even her coffin would be a family heirloom, so she should make sure she’d fit it.
but sometimes, she looks in the mirror, and she sees herself with pearls around her neck that she wears when she wants to feel closer to hiram even though she helped killing him, and she still feels like a question mark.
the only thing that she had ever been sure of—archie, his light, his warmth, his smile on her neck, his hands on her ribcage, the place on his chest where she'd lie her head, his love making her believe in something—no longer belongs to her.
toxic rich bitch, people used to say behind her back when she was younger. ruins everything in her path.
and weren't they right, after all?

Begin Again
Sweet Pea X Reader Oneshot
Synopsis: Sweet Pea is longing to have you be his again after a drunken mistake he made a few years ago.
A/N: Short-ish, fluffy.
----------------------------
“Pea, do we have to do this every day?”
“Only until you say yes YNN” the tall Serpent practically towered over you as he leaned across the Whyte Wyrm bar top where you polished glasses.
“SP, give it a break, you're sounding desperate” Fangs smirked at his best friends daily ritual, sliding onto a barstool next to him.
“I'm just looking for another chance is all”
“Pea one of these days I'm gonna roll my eyes so hard at you I'm gonna go blind” you gently patted his shoulder smilingly before moving down the bar to take another Serpents drink order. Jugheads birthday party getting into the full swing of things.
“You've worked so hard to get back to this place SP, are you sure you want to risk losing it all again”
“Fangs, I just know we're supposed to be more but maybe it's time to just call it” Sweet Pea watched your outline drift into the sea of Serpents as you moved from behind the bar with a tray of drinks. You had known one another for over two decades, raised in the shadow of this very bar. Partners in crime with a healthy dose of one-sided outwards pining but mutual feelings. The two of you had dated before, it crashing and burning almost two years ago.
Sweet Pea scanned the room, his gaze landing on Veronica Lodge, laughing with her Riverdale counterparts.
“Ugh I know that look” Fangs followed his glance before taking a swig from his drink.
“What?”
“That's the, let me jump on the next thing that moves and pretend it's yn because that's who I really want but can't have, look”
“Sounds like it needs a rebrand” Sweet Pea chuckled in return before pushing off the bar and strolling over to reacquaint himself with the raven haired girl boss. He squished into the booth alongside the Northsiders and began to work his magic on Veronica as you rejoined Fangs at the bar, apron and drink in hand.
“Finished for the night YNN?”
“Yeah, right on time to watch that trainwreck” you plastered a smile across your face that didn't quite reach your eyes as you took a deep drink from your glass and threw the apron around the other side of the bar.
“I know you want him back and you're scared what happened…will happen again”
“Woah Dr. Fogarty when's the daytime advice show airing?” you laughed as Fangs joined you. Fangs passed his drink from his hand to yours, taking your empty glass. You tore your eyes from the booth and landed them on Archie Andrews, back fresh from active duty. He moved through the crowd heading back to his friends from the bathroom.
“Oh god, not that look”
“What?”
“That's the, let me jump on the next thing that moves and distract myself from the deep unresolved feelings I have towards Sweet Pea, look”
“A rebrand should be considered” he laughed at you and your similarities to Sweet Pea. He considered a career in behavioural psychology as you sprung from your chair with a fresh drink and swanned over to Archie.
The night took a very drunk turn from there, for all parties involved. Dancing and drinking and shameless flirting were heavy themes of the night. You felt Archie's hands trace your hips as you both swayed to the music growing in volume. Throwing your head back laughing at whatever Archie said, his mouth quickly attached to your neck. Your surprise turned to rising pleasure and then very quickly to shock as the red head was suddenly pulled back from you.
“Hey!”
“Hey yourself Andrews!” Sweet Pea stepped between the both of you, pushing Archie backwards by the chest.
“Sweet Pea leave it” you tried to pull him by the shoulder back only to have him shrug you off and whip around back to you.
“You're being stupid YN” you scoffed at him as Archie began to give out again. Sweet Pea whirled around, his bare fist meeting the side of Archie's jaw. Fangs launched himself from the bar, Jughead following suit, attempting to separate the two of them as they began to brawl. Your head started to swirl from the alcohol, fed up with the boys in front of you, you separated from them, and out the door.
You made it a little way along the road up from the bar as Sweet Peas drunken gait met you.
“YN, where are you going!?”
“Away from you!” You shouted back, matching his tone. He reached you quickly, catching your wrist and turning you to face him.
“Let go of me!”
“YN when are we going to stop pretending you don't still have feelings for me!” His wild eyes searched yours for answers, wishing to not hear what you said next.
“When are you going to stop pretending you didn't hurt me!” You snatched back your wrist and stomped in the direction of home again.
“YN, that was a mistake, a stupid, drunken mistake, she didn't mean anything to me-”
“-then why'd you do it?” You suddenly turned again, bumping into his chest. The street lights cut through the night as you bite back alcohol induced tears.
“I… I don't have any excuses. I've said I'm sorry but I'll say it again, I'll never stop saying it. I made out with that girl. I did and I have never not regretted it, I'm sorry” you looked into his genuine eyes as they dampened with tears. He caught hold of your shoulders and stepped in closer.
“YN, I am sorry. I'm so sorry. I know I said I'd be happy to have you in my life even just as a friend, that I'd make peace with whatever scraps you'd give me but….I need you. I need you to be mine again and I need you to need me” he gulped at the end of his confession and then leaned in to meet your lips. A flush of memories enveloped both of you, warm and comforting, familiar and pure. You separated again, dismay painting your face but not as much as Sweet Pea’s when the palm of your hand sailed across his face.
“That…That was for drunkenly kissing that girl the first night we went long distance” you then shoved him backwards, tears now streaming down your face as you gritted out “That…that was for once again getting behind the walls I built to keep you away” you grabbed the collar of his shirt then, hauling him back to you again. He went willingly, too dumbfounded to put up a fight. You pulled him down to meet your lips again prior to pushing him back, still holding his collar.
“And that…that was for making me want to try again” he gently lowered down your hands, keeping them in his. You rested your head off his chest, he dropped your hands and draped his arms over you, pulling you in. You both stood there for a long time in the glow of the street lights above you.
“Fangs owes me 100$”
“Why?” you laughed into him, reaching for his hand and pulling him into a walk again, not really sure what direction you were heading in.
“He said I'd never wear you down again, bet 100$ two years ago when we started being friends again”
“You owe me half of that” you smiled.
“I owe you everything
