“Listen up folks,“ Steve announced seriously, after many hours of uncomfortable silence and glances in the jet. He stood in between Clint and Tony in the cabin and gazed at us at the back. His eyes lingered on me at the back away from everyone for a second, his eyes shone with pity and guilt, I tightened my fists in response. “We’ll be landing in 15 minutes. You know the drill, we get in, get the information, and then out. Is that clear?“ His stern gaze told everyone not to mess it up.
“Good. Clint, you wait here with Banner in case of any emergency. Sam, Tony, you’ll be our eyes in the sky.“ There was a pause right there that made me look at him in wariness and the look in his eyes made my stomach sink. No.
“Pietro, Y/n, you’re together.” Everyone gasped and the air filled with tension. I refused to acknowledge his presence and kept looking forward as his gaze burned the side of my face.
“What about me?“ Wanda protested, her eyes dancing between mine and Steve’s faces. Mine must have shown mortification but his only determination.
“You’re coming with Bucky and me, we need you in case anything is blocking our way.“ Steve explained, his voice apologetic.
“But...“
“But nothing.“ His voice was stern, authority laced his words. They stared at each other, a will battle happening between them. Huh. He must have won as Wanda averted her eyes and huffed under her breath.
That was our cue to prepare everything we would need for the mission. I strapped the vest tighter, struggling a bit. After all, when I accompanied Strange or Wong to missions I would wear more of a magical kind of protection. I double-checked my boots and made sure the enchanted daggers that Strange gave me when I started training were at my side. I flipped them in my hands and hid them in my black suit. If we were to encounter any danger these would take care of it.
The jet was abnormally silent. One could slice the tension with a knife. I raised my head and caught Wanda analyzing my movements. I raised an eyebrow in question. What the heck was her problem with me? She sighed with a pained look on her face and approached me. Pietro watched our interaction with a frown.
“If something happens to my brother because of you I swear on my life I’ll destroy you.“ Wanda growled, bitterness taking hold of her words as she glared at me. I blankly stared at her and cleared my mind from all thoughts, just like Strange taught me in case I ever encountered someone like her again.
She scrunched her eyebrows in concentration, and by the looks of it, she was trying to get inside my head but failed to see anything important. I smiled tightly, thankful for Wong’s constant nagging on meditation. That didn’t mean she couldn’t read my thoughts, it just meant she would only see what I wanted her to. But as Wong explained, there will be times when she’ll be able to infiltrate my head if my mind is weak. Like the day before.
The plane landed and not wanting to hear anything else from her I walked past her. She wasn’t worth it.
“Scared little Y/n, always running away.“
Wong was always on and on about being the bigger person. He said that’s the way to a healthy and stressless life. But Wong’s not here now.
I loosened a little bit of the control I had over the death and fed them enough power to make them tangible but not visible. Spirits have their own will and can’t be controlled but necromancers have such a tight relationship with them that some tend to follow orders when offered something in exchange. They approached her and I saw the moment Wanda realize we were not alone. As a telepath, she’s more perceptive of death but can’t quite feel it. She may not be a necromancer, but she’s still a witch. I heard her gasp and saw her eyes turn red. She should know by now her powers were useless against them. There was no running from them.
“If you ever threaten me again,” I whisper in her ear, “we’ll destroy you.“ I smiled sweetly, knowing Stephen would’ve high-fived me if he had been there. I got off the jet and made my way to the group. The sense of victory lasted around 2.3 seconds because Tony was approaching me, an unreadable expression on his face. He stopped a meter away from me.
“We need to talk,“ Tony demanded, his face hard as marble. I opened my mouth to argue we had nothing to talk about. And maybe send him to hell while I was at it, but the sudden tickling feeling at the base of my neck and the out-of-nowhere appearance of an arm resting on my shoulders shut me up.
“You ready for the best night of your life partner?“ His messy and overgrown hair tickled my cheek, making me lose any perspective of reality and leaving me speechless. I was completely aware of every part of our bodies touching. It felt familiar. Odd, considering that the only time we’ve ever been this close, I was partly dead and mostly unconscious.
His hand tightening his hold on my shoulder brought me back from stupid land and made me aware of the expectant look on his face. I threw him a bewildered look, confused at his actions, but unable to separate myself from him. A closed small smile formed on his lips as our eyes met. His warmth made me feel at ease. I wouldn't be surprised if I started purring. Instant horror filled me at the thought. I was pathetic.
He grinned as he could read my thoughts and winked.
Oh.
Oh.
He was giving me a way out of the heart-to-heart convo daddy wanted to have. I winced at the mere thought. Resigned, I looped my arm around his waist and held him too. Surprising him by how his body tensed and then softened under my hands. The action brought me more pain than relief. It shouldn’t be like this.
“Yep, let’s go.“ I smiled tightly looking up at him, but he just stared me in the eyes. I heard his breath hitch and felt his chest tremble once. Suddenly, the burning sensation on my ribs made its appearance. For focusing on the cause of the ache at my side I completely overlooked the quiet groan of pain Pietro let out.
“Y/n-“, Tony started but was interrupted by an annoyed-looking Sam. “Let’s go, Tony. We don’t have all day.“ He cursed under his breath and stared at me regretfully, “We’ll talk later” and with a last look, he made his way to the whining falcon. I released a breath in relief and stepped away from the not-so-dead guy beside me. The pain disappeared instantaneously. Convincing myself it was just a coincidence I walked to Steve, who was distributing the earpieces and took one.
“Be careful, kid.“ His baby blue eyes made it impossible to be rude to him. I tried to smile and assure him I would be, but the red aura surrounding the base told me otherwise.
***
“Y/n, anything on your side?“ Steve’s voice came through the earpiece. I felt Pietro’s eyes on me once again.
“Negative.“
It’s been around 30 minutes since we parted from the team and we were yet to find anything useful. The base being enormous and falling apart didn’t help us go faster either. Every turn we made or every room we entered was either destroyed or blocked by debris. I was getting annoyed, and Pietro’s useless presence and his obvious staring were not helping. We made another turn but we were again stopped by a destroyed wall. I groaned and hit my forehead on the wall in frustration.
“This is useless. We’re not going anywhere.“ I grumbled kicking the wall. Defeat weighing on my shoulders.
“No shit, Sherlock.“ Pietro’s useful input made my blood boil. He may not see the aura but I could. Every corner, every single piece of debris was painted red. Just once have I ever seen anything like this and Strange and I almost died. I faced him ready to hit that beautiful smile off his face but the distant sound of footsteps halt me in my steps.
“Did you hear that?“ I whispered lowly, praying I had imagined it. I knew we had to find spirits to complete the mission. That didn’t mean I wanted to.
“Hear what?“ Pietro’s eyes searched mine for answers and whatever he found made him go pale. A shiver ran down my spine and I gulped. They were here.
I ignored him and silently started walking in the direction of the echo. At this distance, all I got from the spirits was that he was alone. That was the tricky part of red auras.
“You’re scared,” Pietro stated knitting his eyebrows, “why are you scared?“
“I’m not scared.“ I lied blatantly. I was pooping my pants, I would be stupid if I wasn’t afraid after the last time. But he didn’t need to know that.
“You’re tapping your fingers against your thigh.“ He said matter of factly as if it was common sense. How did he know that? I stopped doing it immediately.
“What?“
“You always used to d-“ He stopped himself before he could finish, leaving me shocked. He frowned and looked even more lost than me. My eyes widened and against my will, they filled with tears that I refused to let go. I felt the air being knocked out of my lungs as if I had been kicked in the gut. I knew he didn’t remember me, so why did he keep doing that? It was cruel.
“I- I don’t know why I said that.“ He stammered running a hand through his hair. I sought his eyes but he wouldn’t meet my gaze. I stared at him, praying he would look back at me in the darkness of the place and would recognize me. It didn’t happen. My mouth opened against my will but the same sound of footsteps stopped me. Right, the mission. I straightened up as much as I could and cleared my throat. The sooner we finish, the faster I’ll be home; all this will be just a memory.
“This way.“ I cleaned my voice of any emotion and walked ahead of him towards the creepy noises. He stood frozen but moments later he walked beside me. Silence embraced us. I hated it, but I grew to accept it. We were no longer right for each other, and nothing I did was going to change it.
We entered a new sector of the building. I gagged at the rotten smell of... dead. I covered my nose and breathed through my mouth. If the smell wasn’t enough of a hint then was the aura that grew more visible around every surface. I gulped. The dim light of our lanterns didn’t do much but gave us just enough clarity to distinguish our surroundings. The walls around us were moldy and partially destroyed. It was so dark even with lanterns I could barely see anything beyond my hands. The sound of our footsteps echoed in the walls around us giving the place a creepier vibe.
“Keep your eyes open, we’re close.“ I warned in a whisper, not wanting to disturb the dead. There was a second of silence.
“Can you really see them? Ghosts.“ Pietro clarified, I could barely see him but I just knew his eyes had rounded in curiosity. It used to be the cutest view back in the asylum. He somehow misunderstood my silence for an invitation to keep talking. “I’ve heard some things from the others but...“ He left his sentence unfinished but I knew what he meant. ...nobody really knows what I can do.
I hesitated for a second and consider not answering but something pushed me to do it.
“Yes, I can see them.“ He kept quiet out of surprise that I actually answered or fear about what I can do. I hoped it wasn’t the last one. I played with my fingers in anticipation.
“There’s no way you can get any cooler right now.“ He gushed, awe evident in his voice. I whipped my head in his direction. I could see the outline of his face and noticed his childish grin. A surprised laugh left my lips and couldn’t help the feeling of warmth in my chest or the tiny tears of laughter that appeared.
“You’re so weird.“ I said cleaning my tears with a smile on my face. He turned his head in my direction and smiled sweetly at me. His eyes softened, recreating the exact image of the Pietro I knew.
A ray of light blinded us out of nowhere. We shielded our eyes but as fast as it came, it left. We looked at each other and without a word being exchanged we ran after it. We reached the end of the aisle and turned left, at the distance, we could see the light turning right and disappearing into another corridor. At this pace, we were going to lose it. Pietro must have thought the same because one second we were standing on an empty aisle and the other, he was standing outside of a door carrying me bride style. With my arms around his neck, we stared at the light coming from the bottom of the door. With slow movements, Pietro put me down carefully. Giving him one last look I turned the knob and light flooded the dark corridor.
Together we entered the new room. The walls were bare but unlike the whole building, there was no sign of ruin. In the middle of the room was a box. But it wasn’t the box itself that caught my attention rather the name written in bold letters on the side of it. Not Y/n Stark, but Y/n Khalida. My necromancer’s name. I was petrified. I could feel my blood pounding in my ears, and sweat running down my back. This wasn’t right. There’s something wrong.
“We gotta go.“ I ordered, taking Pietro’s hand and running to the door but at that exact moment, it closed on our faces. I ran to it and tried to turn the knob but it wouldn’t move. I hit it once, twice but it didn’t even vibrate. The room turned completely red. And then I felt it. We were no longer alone. And when I turned around the spirit wasn’t the only one waiting for us.

Tinker-Belle Series Masterlist
Pairing: Pietro Maximoff x Fem! OC (eventually)
Summary: In which we meet our OC Belle and Pietro is both an enemy and a hero.
Word Count: 1.6k
this is the first part /// next part
“Hello lovely people!” Belle waved to her recording iphone as she buckled her heels on. “Ladies in Gentlemen and everybody in between— I am currently on the Quinjet because you guessed it, we found another HYDRA base!”
She grabbed her camera and posed with her best friend, Tony. “Tony! How do you feel about my new fighting shoes?”
Tony looked down at Belle’s new platform heels with little pom-poms. “Very gimmick-y Belle. Be careful— you’re gonna be more iconic than Spangles over there.”
“I’m always more iconic than Capsicle.” Belle rolled her eyes, flipping her hair. “I’m obviously the better blonde.”
“No, no— That’s where you’re wrong, Lady Belle.” Belle pointed the camera at Thor. “I am clearly the superior blonde.”
“Okay folks— we’re approaching the base. Tink— start stretching.” Bruce warned as they could feel the jet start lowering.
Belle stretched her wings out and let them pop through the golden armor that Tony had built. Her fairy wings fluttered around— letting her float into the air to avoid turbulence.
“You forgot your intro again!” Clint reminded the girl who was doing flips in the air to get warmed up.
“Right! Hello! If you don’t already know me— My name is Belle but you probably know me as Tinkerbelle. I’m the result of illegal human experimentation and Tony Stark found me a few months ago.” She looked at the camera and smiled— doing her rehearsed introduction. “He gave me new and improved metal bones and healed my broken wings.”
“I helped out at the Attack on New York— using my acrobatic skills, swordplay and flying to defeat the Chitauri. Ever since, I’ve been an Avenger and have been keeping a video diary. We’re about to land so I’ll see you when we’re on the ground!”
Clicking off her camera— she made sure her green mini dress wasn’t wrinkled and fluttered her way near the exit. “I’ll scope out the area with Stark!”
Iron man and Tinkerbelle flew out of the Quinjet— and began to make their way closer and closer to the building. Belle touched her intercom. “The place is surrounded— we’re going to regroup and attack in numbers. We haven’t been seen yet.”
- - - - - - - - - - -
With that— The Avengers drove in. Each on fighting HYDRA agents and making their way to victory.
Belle and Stark began quickly bolting towards the main building.
“SHIT!” Stark exclaimed— bumping into an invisible force field.
“Language!”
“Jarvis? What’s the view from upstairs?” Belle asked, banging her fist across the force field before getting shot at.
“The building seems to be surrounded by a type of energy shield…It’s more advanced than any other HYDRA base we’ve taken.”
“Loki’s sceptre must be here.” Thor informed. “There’s no way Stricker could power this defense without it. At long last…”
Belle floated down to the ground where she began to fight all the soldiers on outside of the base.
“Long last is lasting pretty long boys…” Natasha commented.
Belle shot up to the sky— wings flapping quickly as she sped towards the forrest. “Clint— there’s a weak spot on the bunker that’s shooting at you. Just shoot forwards.”
“Thanks.” Clint said after hearing an explosion. “I think we’ve lost the element of surprise.”
Belle let out a shriek as a blast went whizzing last her head. “The absolute nerve!” Belle hurled a grenade at the bunker that tried it.
“I’m sorry— nobody else is going to deal with the fact that Cap just said language?”
“I know,” Steve hurled his shield, knocking a few people to the ground. “Just slipped out.”
“Stark, have you gotten the force field taken care of yet?”
“Closing in, JARVIS— am I closing in?”
Something caught Belle’s eyes as she flew closer to the base. “Guys— I just saw something dart out of the base. I’d watch out.”
Clint who just got knocked to the floor— wished he got a warning earlier.
“We’ve got an enhanced on the field. Belle— your move.” Steve announced.
“On it.” Belle zipped to the forrest.
“Clint’s been hit! Somebody want to deal with that bunker?" A loud crash. "Thank you!”
Belle flew around the forrest as fast as she could— scanning the area around her from the skies until she saw something blue flash below her.
Flittering— her wings jolted her to the ground in an instant. Her eyes darted between the trees until she felt a breeze behind her.
She grabbed their hand and backed them into a tree, grabbing their shirt by the collar before finally looking at them. She took her sword and swiped it across his cheek.
“Nice catch” He winked before throwing her to the ground.
Winded, Belle groaned before touching her intercom. “I’ve met the enhanced. He’s speedy, cute and has frosted tips?”
“What the the 80’s?” Stark commented— letting them know the force field was down.
“Clint’s hit pretty bad guys— I think we’re gonna need Evac.” Natasha reported.
“I can get Barton. You guys find the sceptre.” Thor instructed before flying off.
“And for gosh sake— watch your language!” Belle mocked— flying up again and breezing through the front doors of the building.
Tony had found a secret room in the building— Belle was clearing out the building; her silent wings were very useful for sneaking around and disarming people.
Sneaking into rooms— she would silently disarm and knock people out until soon everyone is the room was harmless.
“We’re locked in out here.” Natasha reported.
“Get to Banner.” Steve suggested. “Time for a lullaby.”
Belle walked through one of the doors— completely disregarding the warning sign on the door.
And in her defense, there were warning signs everywhere.
Now in a place like this— boobytraps are expected. But after walking through the place for a while and not seeing anything, Belle was breezing through the places.
And in her defense— this wasn’t a boobytrap.
Instead— Belle walked into a room and she felt her intercom being tugged off her.
Belle turned around to see where it went when she saw a giant disposal.
A magnet was held above a conveyor belt as it picked up metals from the trash. Belle saw her intercom stuck to the giant magnet.
And in her defense— Belle is an idiot.
Walking over to the disposal, Belle suddenly felt a pull towards the disposal— so like the idiot she is, she went closer.
Watching the metals from soda cans being pulled up into the magnet and slowly turning flat and into melted metal— it was mesmerising.
It wasn’t until she was walking along on the conveyer belt when she realised she was in trouble.
Her elbow smacked into the magnet.
Soon enough it was her whole arm.
And soon she remembered that her metal bones stick to magnets.
Now very panicked— she began to tug at her arm, silently begging for the magnet to be weaker than it was proving to be.
Seeing her intercom on the other side— she made an attempt to reach for it but when her other elbow got stuck to the magnet— slamming her back onto the magnet too she stopped trying.
She could see the emergency power off but for some reason it was across the room and there was no chance of her reaching it.
Belle tried thinking of all the ways to get out of this less than ideal situation when she folded her wings.
“Schieße!” A german curse flew out of Belle’s mouth as a searing white hot pain rang throughout her body.
She watched as her intercom melted and began freaking out.
So like any other prepared avenger— she began to shout for help.
After a long while with no reply and her voice very worn out and tired— she hung from the magnet, very disappointed that this is how she died.
She had barely accomplished anything— she hadn’t taken down hydra like she wanted to or published her video diary as a documentary. She hadn’t even fallen in love yet or met Clint’s family like he promised.
When finally— something flashed in her teary vision.
Something alive and blue.
She heard machines turn off and she could feel her body falling from the stupid burning hot ceiling magnet when something caught her.
Belle curled into a small ball as her saviour carefully hugged her. “Thank you…” she whispered, opening her watery eyes and admiring his face.
“No problem.” He said back, wrapping her in a blanket and picking her up.
“I’m sorry… I cut your pretty face…” Belle traced the spot where a red cut lie on his cheek.
Before she knew it— Belle was in front of an empty Iron Man suit and now alone.
Belle carefully got up— tears streaming as her back and arms ached in pain as she climbed into the suit.
“JARVIS—turn on intercom.”
“Intercom— on. Several burns detected. ”
“Guys? I lost my intercom and i’m badly injured. Bruce can fix burns right?”
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Oh— they’re flatlining! Call it!” Tony walked it holding two smoothies.
Clint and Belle laid down next to each other. Belle was on her stomach as her burns were being healed by creating new skin tissue.
“No, no, no. I’m gonna live forever!” Clint smiled. “I’ll be made of plastic.”
“You’ll be made of you, Barton.”
Belle looked up from her iphone. “You interrupted my duolingo. And one of those smoothies better be mine.” She pointed at Tony’s drinks.
“Right, because we need you learning 50 new languages. Remind me which ones you speak?” Tony gave her a smoothie.
“English, German, French, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish and if you let me continue my duolingo— Sokovian.” Belle took a sip of her drink. “Strawberry Banana? You know me so well.”
Natasha shot her a look after Belle said Sokovian, eyebrows raised. Belle blew a raspberry at her.
“Helen, I expect to see you at the party this afternoon?”
Helen gave a polite smile. “Unlike you— I don’t have time for parties.” She coughed and asked not-so-discreetly
“Will… Thor be there?”

"Do you ever just really want to kiss someone?"
2021 Month of Writing: Day 9
Pairing: Pietro Maximoff x OC
Prompt:
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1,522
Author's Note: please don't steal my work. you can choose to respond to the prompt as well, but don't steal my work
Tumblr media
Ariel brought her shawl closer around her body as she typed away on her computer. The cold weather had her not wanting to do anything other than relax. She was so happy to be done with work for the week and had decided to try and read. A small bowl of popcorn was nearby for her to snack on as her fingers lightly ran over the pages of her book.
Normally, she’d be at the Avengers’ compound for the holidays, spending it with her close friends. However, things were a little different this year. Clint had invited her over to his farm. Ariel had been reluctant to accept; she didn’t want to intrude on their Christmas, but apparently Clint’s wife had insisted.
She wasn’t the only one to have been invited though. Both of the Maximoffs tagged along, as well as Natasha. So far, the trip was enjoyable. Ariel had spent a lot of time hanging out with Lila, who was incredibly excited that she shared the name with a Disney princess. The two spent at least an hour outside in the snow, making snow angel-mermaids and snowmen. When Cooper eventually came outside with Clint and Pietro in tow, a large snowball fight broke out. They came inside to find hot chocolate waiting for them. It was then that Ariel offered to spend time with Nathaniel, letting Laura get some rest.
Now, the house was relatively quiet. The kids had gone up to bed about an hour ago and the adults settled into the living room. Ariel could hear the brief bits of conversation around her. She knew they probably wouldn’t bother her. She was exhausted and simply wanted to unwind. Being in the presence of her friends was more than enough to wind down from the exciting day.
Every now and then she would tune in briefly to what was happening around her. Wanda was sitting with Laura and Natasha, sharing recipes she remembered from her childhood. Pietro and Clint were sitting slightly nearby, talking quietly with one another.
Ariel dropped her hand into her bowl, glancing down when she noticed it was now empty. She huffed a small laugh. She marked her place in her book and stood up.
“Everything all right?” Laura asked.
“Yep! Just going to put my bowl in the kitchen,” Ariel said. “Can I take anyone else's?”
“Ariel, you don’t have to do that.”
“Nonsense. You just stay there, Laura.”
She winked at Laura as she collected the other empty bowls from the various snacks people had had. She moved into the kitchen and carefully put the bowls on the counter. She discarded her shawl and rolled up her sleeves as she turned on the water.
“Ariel-”
“I don’t want to hear it, Laura,” she said, glancing back at her. Laura had gotten up and was starting to approach the kitchen. “Go sit back down. I’ve got this. Really.”
“You must be tired after having played with the kids all day.”
“And you do the same thing every day. By yourself most of the time.” She smiled. “Laura, please let me do this. It’s the least I can do after you invited us into your home.”
After another minute, Laura relented.
“All right,” she said. “But no chores for you tomorrow.”
Clint laughed from the other room.
“Good luck keeping her out of the kitchen the day before Christmas,” he commented.
“Ariel loves cooking,” Natasha added.
Laura finally went to rejoin the other women, leaving Ariel to do the dishes. As she washed and rinsed, Clint’s voice caught her attention again.
“What are you looking at there, speedy?” he said.
“It’s nothing,” Pietro responded.
“Nice try. I have eyes, I can see perfectly well. I’ve got all night.”
Pietro sighed.
“Have you… ever just really wanted to kiss someone but you can’t?”
Those words really caught Ariel’s attention. She moved a little slower.
“Considering I’m married, I don’t really have that problem. But what’s stopping you?” Pietro was quiet. “Listen. In this life, some things are out of our reach, out of our control. But one thing we can control is the choices we make. And… I’ll tell you this - she wouldn’t mind.”
Ariel stiffened.
Did he just-
Ariel set the last dish into the drying rack and dried her hands. She put on a smile as she approached the others.
“I’m going to head up to bed,” she said. “I’ll see you all tomorrow.”
She quickly headed for the stairs, calls of good night followed her as well as a muttered, “Crap.”
Ariel closed the door to her room, resting her head against the wood as she tried to deal with her racing thoughts. Most people forgot that her hearing was enhanced. It was one of the few results that came from experimentation when she was young. Her mother had been working on a new serum, potentially some version of the super soldier serum, but she was only able to do small doses. Ariel had been told they were medical shots to keep her healthy and to not tell her father.
Long story short, one day her hearing and eyesight became much more enhanced. Her father realized what had happened and took her away after calling the police. The effects never went away, but they had been helpful when she started training for SHIELD. At the compound, Tony had even made her room soundproof so she didn’t get too overwhelmed when she was trying to sleep.
Now, she questioned how useful they were.
When Pietro was recovering after being shot in Sokovia, Ariel spent a lot of time with him due to also being in the infirmary. They grew close, often joking with one another. It wasn’t until a month or two later that she told Clint her feelings for the speedster. She hadn’t dated much before, so she didn’t truly know if her feelings were genuine. Over time, she realized that she felt a bit more than friendship toward Pietro.
Suddenly, she heard someone walking toward her room. She could tell who it was just based on the way they walked. She stayed in place, nervous about what was going to happen. A moment later, a soft knock came from under her hands. Ariel waited a moment before gently pulling the door open.
Pietro offered her a small smile.
“Hi,” he said softly.
“Hey,” she replied, giving her own small smile in response.
“Could we talk?” She couldn’t quite tell if he was being quiet for her benefit or for the sleeping kids, or if he was nervous.
She nodded and opened the door wider to let him in. When the door was closed, she turned to face him.
“I’m sorry if our conversation bothered you,” he said. “I forgot about your powers, and I wasn’t thinking.”
Ariel brought her arms around herself, realizing for a moment that she left her shawl downstairs in the kitchen.
“Can I ask why?” she asked.
“Why not? Wait- sorry, poor choice of wording. I meant it as how could I not. You are kind and patient. You never grew annoyed by my constant talking and bothering while we were in the infirmary together. You always seem to be happy and you always want to help others, even if it isn’t a convenience for you.” He smiled, looking down. “And today… seeing you interact with Clint’s family… I don’t know. I guess it just showed me how good you truly are in everything you do.”
“So… what’s stopping you now?”
Pietro looked at her, eyes wide at her words. Ariel was surprised herself. She looked down as her cheeks heated. She was about to utter an apology when Pietro quickly stepped forward and pressed a kiss to her lips. When he started to pull away, Ariel wrapped her arms around his waist. She stood higher and kissed him again. The kiss was more passionate than the last, both of them pouring their feelings into their actions. Ariel’s smirk grew a little wider when she pulled away slightly.
“You didn’t see that coming?” she asked.
Pietro couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Did you just steal my line?”
“What, me? Never.”

Clint waved to Natasha and Wanda as they headed off to bed. As he walked down the hall to his own bedroom where Laura was, his eyes drifted to one of the closed doors. He slowly approached the door, turning the knob as quietly as he could. Clint stuck his head through the small opening he allowed himself. His eyes scanned the room quickly and settled on the bed. Pietro and Ariel were cuddled close together, covered with a throw blanket. Neither had bothered to change out of their clothes from the day, but they didn’t seem to mind. Ariel shifted just slightly, allowing Clint to catch a glimpse of the earmuffs that were designed to decrease sounds when sleeping.
With a proud smile, Clint gently shut the door. He went to his bedroom, meeting Laura’s curious eye as he got ready for bed.
“Stark owes me twenty bucks,” he said. “He bet those two wouldn’t get together before Christmas.”

I’m so... scared?
I haven’t posted any writing in over a year and now I have some written and ready to post but I’m too afraid. I think I’m telling a really interesting story, yet I am too scared that it will get zero interaction and all of my work will be for nothing. Putting myself out there will be for nothing.

pietro often wondered about the girl who was held next door. he'd hear the screeching metal against the floor followed by a slight commotion and then a thud on the floor. small shuffling could be heard and then it was silence. no movement, no talking, no heavy breathing or cries, silence until the next time the metal door unleashed its harrowing song, and large boots could be heard entering the cell and dragging the girl away.
pietro couldn't tell how long he'd really been here nor how long it had been since the mysterious girl next to him was there but he did know it had been months on end and yet he had never seen a glimpse of the girl that shared the wall with him.
there was a small hole in the cement that allowed him to peer into the girl's cell but each time he looked he was met with the grey wall from beyond. he had heard murmurs that she was young like him and wanda. strong, fearless, one of the doctor's favorites. she was often sent out on missions and came back unscathed. each mission she was sent on was a success as if the concept of failure was unfathomable. she apparently spoke little, only when instructed, never talked back, never laughed, never screamed. almost robotic.
which is why it came to pietro's surprise after hearing the thud of her knees hit the floor and the guards march away he heard a soft sniffle. and then slightly louder ones followed by rapid and heavy breathing. pietro scuffled over to the hole in the wall and peered through. he could see her sitting against the far wall with her legs tucked closely to her, her forehead resting on her knees. he could only see half her body from where she was sitting but he could see her shoulder shaking.
"you... you need to breathe in and out. you are going to make yourself pass out," pietro was unsure, his voice quiet but loud enough for her to hear. her head shot up and looked directly at the hole. her hair was sticking to her face, her mouth was slightly parted, and eyes wide and red.
"it's okay. my name is pietro. you don't need to talk but i... i wanted to see if you are okay. you've never even made a noise before now," he felt funny slightly confessing the fact he's been taking note of your actions.
he watched as you wiped the tears off your cheek and raked the hair off your face.
"i don't know how i am," your voice sounded like you hadn't spoken in days.
"it's okay to not know."
from where you sat you could only see the boy's eye. it was a striking blue, "like the sky," you murmured.
"what?" you heard the voice call back.
you slowly stood up dragging your chained feet over to the wall. you held the wall, steadying yourself before sitting with a huff, "your eyes remind me of the sky."
pietro wasn't sure what to say back. he went months not hearing your voice or seeing you, only knowing the tales that the guards spoke of yet here you were inches from him, broken down and giving a compliment. a much different reality to the one he thought he knew before.
pietro didn't hear another word from you, he assumed you fell asleep against the wall. he tried looking through the hole at any angle he could to see you, but all he noticed was a piece of metal gleaming from the dull light in your cell.
a few days had passed since the interaction and pietro had little time to dwell on it. his testing was getting more intense, he was constantly being injected with needles he knew nothing about, there were many monitors reading whatever vitals they needed to document, and his training was becoming more rigorous. he was exhausted, he hadn't been in his cell in two days, and although the cell offered no comfort he much rather be locked behind the bars than strapped to a table.
the guards pushed him down the hallway, taunting him. each time he stood up they would push him back down. the shackles on his wrists rubbed his skin raw and those around his ankles prevented him from running. the guard gripped his shoulder tightly walking past wanda's cell as she called out to her brother.
"wanda!" he screamed out as he watched the other guard reach through the bars and grip at her neck. the guard holding onto him roughly pushed him into the cell causing him to stumble and land on his shoulder, his face grazed the cement floor.
you had heard the commotion from your cell, you stood at the door looking over at the guards who simply laughed at the twins who were now in pain. all you could do was grimace. you hated this, you hated this place, each day you yearned to leave this hell hole you've called home. you heard pietro scream in frustration and then heard his rapid movements as he ran around his cell, thrashing against the walls.
you had seen pietro from a distance a few times. you were never allowed to be near the enhanced people and only managed glimpses of them. you had seen his super speed and the way the scientists trained him. it was brutal and he endured a lot just from the few moments you had witnessed. you started to notice that after particularly rough days he would do this, run back and forth for what seemed like hours on end. slamming into the cement walls that would somehow rattle from the force. he would yell in anger, cursing the guards and scientists for what they were doing.
the noise settled and you hesitantly sat in front of the small hole. you could see his large frame hunched over catching his breath. he ran a hand through his messy silver hair, his white tank top was dirty and slightly damp from his running. you peered behind your shoulder at the hallway making sure it was empty. you swallowed thickly with nerves in fear of getting caught before forcing three fingers into the hole and ripping the cement block from the wall. you could now fit your head through the hole comfortably if you wanted to.
"pietro," you said placing the block beside you. he faltered and gestured with an open hand in confusion at the now gaping hole in the wall. you couldn't help but pull your lips into a tight light suppressing the laugh you wanted to let out at the look on his face. using his speed he rushed to face you, eyes wide examining the open edges of the cement.
"you-"
"are strong," you cut him off jokingly.
the two of you sat staring at each other. it was weird to be face to face after countless months of unknowing the other despite being separated by only a wall. you took in his appearance. he was handsome. up close you could now see the slight curls to his hair and the short facial hair. his shoulders broad and built. under his sky-blue eyes were dark circles from the lack of sleep but it suited him. he was stunning and pietro was thinking the same about you. your hair fell haphazardly across your forehead. your eyes were kind and gentle, much different than the stone-cold eyes he had imagined in his head. your lips were pulled to one side in the tiniest of smiles as you took in his appearance. pietro found it hard to believe the stories he has heard about your reputation as he stared at you. expression soft, eyes and smile kind, you looked battered and worn down but still so youthful as if you didn't fit in with the surrounding grey walls.
"are you okay?" you finally asked.
pietro's nostrils flared and his eyes fluttered shut, "i don't know."
you hesitated a moment before repeating his words from a few days prior, "it's okay to not know."
if you weren't staring intently at the man before you you would've missed the smile that flashed across his face at your remark. it was soon washed away when you both heard loud footsteps from down the hall. you both quickly turned towards the noise that was approaching pietro's cell, he gulped harshly as a guard came into view. he looked back at the wall expecting to still see your face but instead, he saw a metal hand escaping through the hole as if the cement was never removed.
metal...?
it must have been late in the night. the guards had already dropped off the atrocious meal they call dinner and returned to pick the trays up. they rarely patrolled the hallways at night, opting to smoke outside. it was eerie each night. the sound of dripping water from pipes echoed, the occasional gunfire could be heard from the woods outside, slight whispers could be heard from the twins once in a blue moon but it was rare. in a place like this, they didn't let you be a person so it was hard to act like one.
pietro was lying on the bed facing the ceiling making a laughable attempt at trying to get some sort of sleep. he was imagining his life before this when his family was all together, when times were happy, when he was just a little kid and not a young adult performing for crazed scientists. his eyes scanned the room at the sound of bricks moving before seeing your head pop into vision from the hole. pietro let out a small laugh through his nose seeing your sheepish smile.
you sat facing the other not saying anything at first. it was oddly comfortable being face-to-face with the one they call quicksilver. you couldn't put your finger on why though. you've spoken so few words to him but then again it was the first time you let yourself speak to someone in this building that wasn't a doctor or a guard. maybe it was you being naive but it felt okay and safe.
"what made you cry the other day?" he finally spoke his question causing you to blink a few times.
"i think... i think they do something to my head. i mean, i know they do," you thought bringing your fingers to your temple as if the gesture helped you remember, "but i think i'm starting to notice when i'm on missions. it's hard to really know though it's all a blur."
pietro nodded softly taking in what you had to say, "like... brainwashing?"
"it has to be. they recite something each time and then it's like i'm not me," you confessed, "but these past few missions i'll overhear things from strangers passing by or i'll see something and i can feel myself start to wake from the trance. i'm starting to remember life before here and i'm becoming aware of what they have me doing."
"whatever it is they have you doing just know you are still a good person," pietro spoke quietly.
"i kill people," you said bluntly looking him straight in the eyes. he averted his gaze slightly, his hand coming to caress his jaw.
"the person they turn you into out there isn't you. the real you is sitting in front of me now."
"how can you be so sure, you don't even know me," you questioned.
"i don't think an out right evil person would check to see if a stranger is okay... or compliment them the first time they see them," pietro joked slightly. you hung your head as your lips pulled back into a smile. pietro couldn't help the way his body leaned closer to the hole with a big smile on his face observing the way you became shy.
"no one in this building is perfect. we've all done things that are considered evil but if we manage to hold on to some sort of sense of ourselves i think we will be okay. i hope wanda and i get out of here soon. it was a mistake yanno, being volunteers, i regret it. it makes me feel worse knowing you had no say in the matter. you're here every day as a puppet against your will and yet i walked through these doors. every day i'm in pain and every day i regret it," pietro's accent got thicker as he got emotional.
you frowned at the silver-haired man, "life in here is already hard enough, there is no point in being hard on yourself."
his eyes were glossed over, internally fighting himself for the choices he had made in the past. you reached your hand into the hole searching for his. this was out of character for you but it some selfish way you wanted the warmth of his hand to comfort you as well. it was peaceful sitting in silence holding each other's hand. the only form of physical touch the two of you ever received was in the form of torture. gruff hands slapping, punching, shoving, and poking you seemed like a far and distant sensation compared to the safety you felt as pietro's thumb traced the back of your hand.
"you should rest," pietro finally broke what felt like an hour's long silence, "they usually take you first."
you sighed deeply but you knew he was right. god knows what hour it was and you needed to try and get some sleep. pietro gently let go of your hand and allowed you to snake it back through the hole.
"thank you pietro. i hope we can talk more soon," you told him earnestly.
"i hope so too," he gave you a lopsided grin before you grabbed the brick.
it was mere days later when you two found yourself in the same position. the guards were out, pietro had finished his talks with wanda, the disgusting dinners were consumed and taken away, and here you were staring into the sky amongst grey walls. pietro noticed your face had small cuts scattered on it from a mission you were sent on a day prior but you had made no mention of it thus far. you were currently enthralled by pietro telling a story from his younger days. pietro was funny and he didn't even need to try, it had been years since you felt the burning sensation in your sides from laughing too much but he made it easy. and pietro loved the sound of your laugh, it was beautiful, irresistible almost. the two of you went back and forth sharing any memories you could remember from life before these walls and it was effortless but you knew just like the other nights it was soon time to hide the hole.
"you're really pretty," you confessed.
pietro's mouth formed an 'o' shape before turning into a giddy smile, "you are beautiful, dragă"
this time it was pietro plugging the brick back into the wall just as he was about to finish a loud booming voice came from your side of the wall. his hands shook slightly at the volume of the guard yelling 'soldier' in russian to you. pietro could no longer see what was happening but he heard you stand up and reply back and leave the cell.
although you and the guard walked in silence you knew he saw you talking to pietro. you continued to clench and unclench your fists trying to calm yourself for what was to come.
"Тебе нравится мальчик?" (do you like the boy?) the guard asked placing a firm grip on your shoulder, pushing you towards the all too familiar room. you stayed quiet and you heard the man snicker to himself, satisfied with your silence.
in the room, several other guards were standing in position, many holding guns. you saw the needles and wires spread across the small rolling table with a doctor in a white coat hunched over it. the monitors sitting idly waiting to read your vitals. the guard that escorted you pushed you into the contraption that stood before you forcing your body flush against the back. immediately automatic shackles secured your arms to the chair and the whirling sound of small electric plates situated themselves against the sides of your head.
"смешно... ты, кажется, молчишь только рядом с нами," (funny... you only seem to be quiet around us.) the doctor smirked, admitting they all were aware of you and pietro speaking. the doctor sucked his teeth as you glared at him, unwilling to confess to anything.
he picked up the mouth guard from the table wiggling it in front of your mouth waiting for you to open. you bit down in anger, all the muscles in your face twitching, your eyelids blinking rapidly pushing back any emotion daring to creep up at what you knew was about to happen. it wasn't often they wiped your memory, only when they deemed your actions defied them, like not getting enough information on missions which was rare. it had been months since the last time they did this. you screamed in agony as the electric volts zapped against your head. sweat started to bead across your thrashing body. it was indescribable and it wasn't a short process but once the currents stopped your world was black and each time you'd wake up in your cell with no recollection.
it was a week later you found yourself in the training room after being isolated since the memory wipe. your shoulders were hunched forward, chest facing the ground, your arms swayed ever so slightly by your side, your breathing was ragged after being beaten in the form of "training" for the last two hours. the doctors insisted it would be over soon, one final test for the day before you could go to your cell. the door creaked open and the familiar sound of boots entered, you didn't even bother looking up.
"солдат!" (soldier!) a guard yelled causing you to slowly pick your head up. at the door was a young man you'd never seen before, he wore tattered pants and a tank top, his hair was silver, and his blue eyes were opened wide in what you could only assume was shock. and though you didn't recognize him, pietro recognized you.
up until now, he had never seen your full figure before, only parts of your body that were visible through the hole. despite you clearly being injured and tired you stood tall and pietro could tell you were strong. the most alarming part about you was your arm... your metal arm. pietro's eyebrows scrunched together, head slightly cocked to the side examining the way the metal met your skin, some scar tissue bright red while others were faded.
before pietro could mutter any words aloud a doctor appeared from a side door and sauntered towards you holding a notebook.
"работа...установить..." (work...establish...) the doctor read.
"please, no," you whispered, your neck screwing to the side as if it will block the doctor's voice.
"станция..." (station...)
pietro watched as your chest heaved air in and out as the doctor continued reciting from the book, circling your body like a predator ready to attack. he watched as your teeth chatter together and your metal hand flexed. the doctor stopped behind your right shoulder leaning down slightly so his mouth was level with your ear. pietro couldn't hear the whispers but he felt nervous at the doctor's intense eye contact and the loud clap of the notebook being shut. the doctor lazily dragged his hand off your shoulder whispering one final command before exiting the way he came.
pietro jumped at the sound of the door behind him slamming shut as the guards snuck out, leaving only the two of you in the room.
"wha- WOAH!" pietro shrieked as you came barreling towards him at full speed, your metal arm raised high in the air to come down on his body.
"please i don't want to hurt you," but his pleas were left unheard as you socked him in the jaw, tossing him to the ground and repeatedly punching his stomach. although being fast, pietro found himself trapped beneath you and it took moments before he was able to get out and start running in different directions. slowly, you walked towards a vacant chair in the corner, eyes trained on the blue light racing around the room. you gripped the chair waiting for the right moment before launching it across the room and nailing pietro square in the back. you stalked towards his groaning figure grasping his shoulder and flipping him onto his back where you straddled him and punched at his face.
to pietro's relief, the doctor came back into the room beckoning an order to you. pietro watched from underneath your frame as your pupils twitched at him and your head robotically moved to face the doctor. you refrained from punching pietro anymore and stood up and walked to the doctor and the two guards who waited behind. one of the guards stabbed a needle into your neck and once more the world was black.
you couldn't even begin to guess what time or day it was when you finally woke up on the floor of your cell. your body was violently shaking from the cold and you started to panic. as much as you tried to think of any memories you couldn't, it was like your mind was a blank slate and it was causing you to panic even more which then turned into anger. you grabbed the small bed and threw it at the wall and screamed loudly. you repeatedly slammed your metal first into the wall causing dust to liter the air. guards walked past your cell but simply laughed and continued to make their way down the hall and off into the outside world.
"hey," a voice spoke unsteadily. you whipped your head around to the other wall and saw a face peeking through.
"it's okay," the man tried to ease seeing your angered state approaching him. you kneeled in front of the hole looking intensely at his face.
"who are you?"
this question confirmed pietro's fear that they wiped your memory. he had foolishly hoped that in the training room you were just too worn down to recognize him when he walked through the door before they sent you into your trance.
"my name is pietro. you may not remember but i am a friend," he spoke hoping to see any form of recollection cross your face. instead you examined him quietly before turning your head and examining the room. it was lit dully, your bed now turned on its side, and there was a tray of food sitting near the cell door that looked to be days old.
"this is a hydra base," pietro continued without you having to ask, "the people here are not good. they hurt us, they experiment on us, many people have died here. i have a sister here, a twin," he said pointing a finger behind him, "her name is wanda. they call us the enhanced. we both possess abilities no normal human would have due to their experimentations. we came as volunteers and i regret it."
"am i a volunteer?" you questioned.
"no, dragă. a few weeks ago you told me they found you during the winter, alone. you had been lost in the forest and they made promises to help you find home but you never returned. you said you aren't sure but you think it's been ten years since," pietro confessed, his accent thick with sorrow.
you hummed, unsure of what to say. you remembered none of this so what could you really say back? was pietro even telling the truth? how could you decipher fact from fiction in a state like this? despite the confusion and the absence of memory, something deep within you said it was all true, everything he was saying was right.
"why is my arm gone?" you whispered, slightly touching the contorting metal panels near the elbow.
pietro couldn't help but feel a pain in his chest as he observed you try and remember any semblance of yourself, "i- i don't know. what i do know is the doctors, they like you. you are very important to them and they make you do dirty work. the reason you can't remember anything is because they wipe your memory."
"i suppose that makes sense," you nodded slightly giving pietro a bitter smile.
"i am sorry for what they do to you," pietro stated earnestly. if he could help you in any way he would, over and over again, he would.
you paused, taking in pietro's face which held some serious injuries. the skin on his brow bone was split, his eye was bright red with blood and a nasty purple-green bruise on his jaw.
"did i do this to you?" you asked, slowly reaching your hand through to gently touch his jaw.
"of course you didn't my love," he murmured, tenderly grabbing your wrist and threading his fingers with yours.
"if there comes a time when i hurt you, please don't go easy on me," you pleaded.
"i cannot promise you that," he smiled at you softly, bringing his other hand to enclose your freezing one.
and pietro was being truthful. he couldn't nor he wouldn't harm you in the event the doctors forced you to fight. he would run and dodge the punches, and the chairs being thrown at him, but he couldn't fight you, he just couldn't. it pained him to see the different version of yourself, the real you locked inside begging to come out of the brainwashing.
pietro didn't think it would be so soon when he would be in the same position as before, standing across from you in the training room as the same doctor circled your body, reciting words in russian that would transform you into their super soldier. it was only hours after the two of you decided to sleep that pietro was ripped from his bed and dragged into the training room.
the doctor once again closed the notebook but before leaving he looked over at pietro, "it is a shame," he started with a thick russian accent, "her memory wiped twice in a week. i thought maybe you two would work well as a team. we could start sending you out on missions with her. but it seems she has developed a hm. what do you call it?" he fake pondered, "ah! a crush! and that is not something we take kindly here. she provides more to us here than you do so..." with that the doctor whispered one final thing in your ear before leaving.
pietro watched carefully as you headed towards him and at the last moment he sprinted away causing you to concave the metal door. you whipped your head around, eyes wide in anger, tracking the movements of the man. he was fast and this irritated you. sticking your leg out you managed to trip him at the last moment and his large frame hurled to the floor. you gripped his shirt in one hand and used your metal hand to punch him in the side of the face.
"it's me!" the man below you yelled. this had no effect on you and you raised your hand to hit him again but he grabbed your fist. the two of you violently struggled against each other before you used your hand clutched to his shirt to slide him away with great force.
"please i said i would never hurt you. it's me, pietro!" the man pleaded getting up to run past your approaching figure. for some reason hearing the name pietro caused a loud screeching pain in your head.
"what are you doing to my head?" you screamed, clutching your head in your hands, eyes screwed shut.
pietro stopped running and looked at your trembling figure, "i'm- i'm not doing anything."
you tried ignoring the high-pitched shrilling noise and stumbled to pietro. you grabbed onto his shoulders and pushed him backward against the wall. although you moved him with force pietro could feel the weakness in your grip this time. he stayed silent looking into your eyes that were frantically examining him.
"the noise..." you muttered bringing your metal hand to hold your head.
"there... there is no noise," pietro spoke confused. there was no noise in the room besides heavy breathing.
"who are you?" you probed shoving him roughly against the wall.
"it's me. pietro. i live next to you in the cell. i came here as a volunteer with my twin sister wanda. you are here against your will. they found you when you were little and never let you leave. they hurt you every day, they aren't good people. trust me, please. it's me your friend," pietro rushed hoping to break through to you.
he felt your grip slightly falter as you looked him up and down. he couldn't make out the emotion in your face as you screwed and unscrewed your features together, internally fighting yourself. he wasn't scared, but nervous rather for your next move or action.
as pietro spoke the high-pitched noise continued to grow louder causing severe pain in your head. it made you nauseous and your vision would cloud with blinding bright light. you hung your head gasping for air as a vague image of a cell came to memory. you tried blinking it away but it would reappear, this time you'd see a man. the man you were pushing against the wall. his head was peeking through the cell wall. instinctually you pressed him further into the wall, pietro's shoulder blades started to ache. a new memory came and it was pietro holding your hand, his thumb caressing yours.
you shot your head up looking at the man. your eyes were glossy with tears from the pain you were experiencing. not just the physical pain of the intense noise but the mental pain as you tried to piece together who he was. his appearance was becoming familiar. his clothes, his broad shoulders, the facial hair on his jaw and upper lip, the cut on his eyebrow, the dark roots of his hair and the silver ends, and his eyes.
you dropped your grip and pietro's eyes contorted in confusion.
"like the sky..." you murmured.

Meet Pietro
Tumblr media
This happened entirely by chance! lol After writing Pietro & Azul last night, I've decided, the Carricks are absolutely getting a kitty! Here's a little backstory and some details about him.
Casey & Tobias both had cats in the past and discussed getting one together.
Tobias was more inclined to get a dog. He liked cats, but he had more sibling Rivalry with his mother's prized Persian, Lady, than he ever did with his brother. He definitely had some jealousy issues to work out.
But Casey insisted they had no time for a dog, not with their busy careers, then a surprise pregnancy to boot, so the idea of a pet was put on the back burner.
Still, they waffled. Sometimes Casey was the one with pet fever, sometimes Tobias. But when Sammy came along, they both agreed they'd wait.
Then one day, Tobias came home with this little guy snuggled in his jacket. A friend's cat had kittens, and she posted his picture on Instagram, saying he was the last one who needed a home. Tobias messaged her and said he'd pick it up after work. Casey had no idea.
He told Casey the clincher was the kitten's eyes... he swore they were the same color blue as Casey's, and he knew that meant they had to adopt him. (Yes, Tobias is that whipped.)
Casey said he was insane and insisted Tobias wanted to balance out the male/female ratio in the house now that she and Sammy had overtaken his former bachelor pad. (Poor man had no idea two more little girls were on the way - they were not to be defeated!)
They named him Pietro after one of Casey's favorite pizza places in Philadelphia. When she was pregnant with Sammy, she craved it all the time, and Tobias always figured out ways to get it for her. He did it because he loved his wife, but he loved the pizza, too. They joked that if the baby was a boy, they would name him Pietro.
Sammy was very little when he came along, but she always loved him. She liked him better than her little sister, Brooke, at first.
Everyone loves Pietro except Jackie. She likes him, but they have some beef. lol Pietro is very bonded with Tobias but abandons him for his mother, Vivian, whenever she visits. This drives Tobias insane.
Pietro is a Balinese cat. He is very loving, affectionate (when he wants to be), and playful. He does get into some mischief (and you'll see more of that), but he is a very loved member of the Carrick family. :)
Just tagging some of my T/C regulars (and cat fans) since you'll be seeing more of Pietro. :)

@stars-are-within-me and @dr-colossal-pita are getting tagged strictly for cat content lol

-> Backstory
Tumblr media
-> Katrina grew up in and out of foster homes. Had at least less than dozens of families take her under their wing, even her aunt as well after her parents died tragically by an explosion in the middle of a highway. She will never know who or how it happened, and honestly, she didn’t care too much to find out.
Especially when a lot of people knew of that unknown tragedy to her lifetime, almost a poster girl for the unexpected moments.
Due to her natural beauty and use of clothing, she appeared to make sure she was as gentle as a flower. Having a guys and even girls wrapped around her finger in early high school years. Ending up as one of the cheerleaders for extra credits, because that’s what she believed her parents and aunt wanted her to be.
However it wasn’t exactly what she desired to be doing. Wanting to fight for what she believes is worthy, see the world development underneath her fingertips, and get a glimpse of the jobs done. Understand it.
Across her 16th year of life, being in the care of foster parents, she was given the odd opportunity to go to Paris. While she was there she visited the Kawatche cave walls, getting a feeling like she meant to be at that old building. As the symbols called her names like a witching tone into her grasp, she felt someone tap her shoulder sliding a envelope under her armpit as they did.
“What do you want?” She asked, not looking at the person, just staring at the walls.
“I heard your little small story.” Said the voice, female, sounding almost crisp and whispery.
“What of it?”
“Public tragedy of dead parents. Foster homes. Good grades. Deeming track record in social life.”
“I was a cheerleader. A preppy gray example of the good girl.”
“That’s what the others want to believe, my dear. Secretly you’ve been knocking back the doors and stealing a few items, getting caught in the mist of a scandal between an old friend who tried to kill you?”
“..she was uh, controlled by some smoke in the school halls. So was i..i took the axe and destroyed walls. But she didn’t kill me.”
“But you almost did. She tried to do the same. Both did some serious damage to the school. Why?”
“..everyone wants something they can’t have. Money, looks, love, be understood..hell, even friendship. Just some controls over something. I guess she was jealous. I wiped the footage clean from security cameras afterwards..It was the past, why come now?”
“Open it.”
She opened it. Spy. The envelope said a few more things but that’s the word which caught her name. Striking expression appeared on her face, as she looked over her shoulder at the women for the first time. She was brunette, tall, lean brown eyes and dressed in gray coat with a black dress underneath. She was stunning with a small lined smile, nodding.
“Spy..agent?” She asked the women.
“Whichever one suits you. We are always willing to take in strays from the litter, my dear.” She replied with a shrug.
“I an not a stray!”
“Suit yourself. I’m just giving you an opportunity to workout your future. You’ll be good at it, i hope.”
Katherine knew that she wasn’t exactly seen right away in people’s eyes. Her past was always a little foggy and she was young, what does she have left to lose? Be the poster girl or something else?
———
Of course she choose the latter. Arriving underground side in Paris, finding the women and agreed to take a peek of the wider view of the world.
-> Over the years, she trained in basic gymnastics and kickboxing aside from the ones she knew already. She was around technical groups, diving in and using her tricks, gently roll of the touch voice, to convey the attention of others. Meeting a few short coming men and women, some even became friends. However, Katrina was never assigned to be strictly Red Room or Hydra material per say, which lead her to flexible with her schedule for trips.
Which also meant, she would go undercover as older allies, wig and custom made costumes with weapons in hand, in teams of two, to take down what threat that needed to be taken care of. Leaving her mark in black heels and a red pressed kiss on a notecard. Coming across SHIELD agents, the rich & famous such as The Starks and Feltons, and other unofficial agents who were neither bad or good.
Katrina never considered herself neither bad or good either, sometimes mad her wonder if she was in the wrong business.
She had undergone preparations and briefing for targets to be taken out. Keeping an eye on her fellow men and women on the field, calling the shots to be taken in their earpieces. Sometimes she doesn’t listen to her own voice in her head, roundhouse kicking or ordering herself to take another step furthermore.
-> Remember in Winter Solider when Natasha showed Steve her scar that was from The Solider who injured her, yes Barnes took the shot to kill the scientist, but Katrina and the others at the control panel were the ones to tell Barnes to do it.
She didn’t want to injure the ex-widow, but one look from her higher ranked member told her to message the order to do as he must.
Get the job done, even if it hurt or annoyed her to do so.
~~~
Recruitment had to be an intriguing part for her. Even though she tends to discuss the situation or disapprove of the recruiting process for others, she would look at her fellow students of the job, for their opinions.
They would just tell her to get the job done and everyone can go out for drinks later. She was actually apart of the group who recruited who willing suggests who said they have nothing else to lose, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, believing that the job would be worthy of their time.
Tumblr media
Seeing the world develop underneath their fingernails and try to understand what can be done.
Those same sentiments struck a tone with her, since they were similar to what she thought was right. In result, she felt somewhat empathetic towards the twins.
She understood them and their willingness to take on challenges, just none of them were taught in the correct manner to do so. Which made it a challenge.
Hell, she found the one with the platinum blonde and brunette roots pretty good looking . It didn’t help that he always flirted with her every chance he got, trying to sweep Katrina off her feet with every interaction. Thankfully she never fell for his charms. But she did blush.
The natural brunette beauty, she was a somewhat kind hearted but odd one like her, always tinkering and wondering around the halls. She sometimes found Katrina in the hallways or computer room of the building, if she was around, to talk. She always found herself holding her hand for comfort on both sides of the coin.
———
Katrina has taken jobs at few organizations, whoever was willing to give her a chance with a good payment. Being honest, she wasn’t always to please with every task she was given to do. A lot of time it the upmost basic stunts like being stealth to grab intel from a community of rich folks, digging up information that was buried in a system and or taking down unwanted eyes for a certain job.
Hell, she has worked for plenty of men and women across the country who have wanted to have her as assistance on a experimental project, even if it pushed her limits or pay rate. Having worked for company’s like Palmer, The Luther Family, HIVE and others over the years.
She didn’t always take the shot though, believing that there was another way to finish things. Or sometimes she faked the person undoing, knowing the boss wouldn’t ask for much, just evidence of some kind.
She sometimes, if the job called for it, saved herself and a few people in the possibilities of something rather lighter to happen in the future. People would call her a vigilante for the work she does, but not exactly a heroic act. But she tried.
~~~
Her looks were a dead giveaway that she’s wasn’t somewhat truly horrible, she had a light side and a dark side to her.
Everyone did.
But Katherine was like any other person in this lifetime, she wants to know what she can and cannot do. Not wanting to get hurt or feel hurt, even though pain is part of life.
She wants to see if she can push her limits and test out the results around her, even if it meant accidentally making the wrong choices or siding the anti-heroic path.
Sometimes it felt good to be a little cocky and act as bad as you can get. Other times it really doesn’t.
But at the end of the day, she makes the decision to take the gold or leave whatever her past is in the dust.
~~~~
-> But the real question, who will find her? Will be taken back to light side and rest in the work she has done? Who will she meet?
That’s what I got, I might edit and add more to her story later on. What did you think?
Also did I use quotes from the actress’s character in the series? Maybe haha.
recently I realized that all my life I liked the pairings that are associated with the rescuer syndrome or the relationship ‘I'm such a freak person no one loves me’&’you are ideal to me in your own way and I love you and I’ll save you’. in other words, the rescuer and the victim.
do I want the same relationships? who knows
is this a healthy thing? I think no
the clearest example is nightsilver or quickcrawler (kurt wagner and pietro maximoff from x men apocalypse and dark phoenix)
these are my favorite arts, I don't remember exactly the full name of the author, but they are beautiful
Howling. Endless howling. Eliza looked up from the parchment on which she was drawing and she moved to the window. A dim light was low over the field. As she looked out, she saw a figure. He was waving a sword but his movements were jerky. Around him, a pack of wolves circled, growling, lunging, snapping at him.
Fear filled her. The man was going to die if she didn’t help. Quickly, she grabbed her bow and her loaded quiver before running out the door. She reached a slight ridge behind the trapped man. From where she was positioned, she could see the man was injured.
Eliza raised her bow and nocked an arrow. Pulling the string back, she steadied her draw then released. The arrow whistled through the air and struck a wolf. It went down with a whimper. Instantly, Eliza repeated her motions. Nock, draw, release. Nock, draw, release. The arrows shrilled through the air hitting their marks. Soon, only three wolves were left but now they were focused on her.
The young woman slid down the ridge as the howling wolves rushed toward her. At the bottom of the ridge, she picked up her sword and prepared herself with a flame. The scarred alpha made his way over the ridge and down toward her before stopping at the sight of the woman holding shimmering steel and a large torch. It paced back and forth before letting out a long howl and dashing back the way it had come with the other two right behind.
Eliza let loose a sigh and lowered her sword and sheathed it. Then she remembered. The injured man! She took off in the direction she had last seen him. Waving the torch, she spotted him. I have to get him to safety.
~~
King Steve Rogers groaned as he rolled onto his back. He opened his eyes to find himself in a strange bed. A window sat on his left and to his right was a wooden door. He threw back the blankets and swung his feet to the floor. The man looked down at his unclad torso wrapped in a white bandage. Who did this? Where am I?
Before he could muse any farther, the door opened to reveal a beautiful young woman. She smiled gently at him, “Oh, wonderful, you’ve woken. I was fearful that you would not. You gave me quite the fright last night. How do you feel?”
The blonde man was stunned to silence at her simple beauty so she tilted her head, “Have you a tongue, good sir?”
This simple remark somewhat amused Steve and he let out a low yet hearty laugh, “Indeed I have a tongue, kind maiden. I am most confused, however, as to my whereabouts and the situation that has led to this remarkable hospitality.”
She poured a small pitcher of water into the wash basin on the table by the door, “You were attacked by a pack of wolves. You needed aid so I hurried to your side with bow and quiver in hand.”
Steve looked down at his semi-clothed form, “You saved me.”
“I did.”
He let his eyes drift up to hers, “And you have brought me here alone?”
The girl wrung out the rag she had soaked in the bowl of water and approached Steve with it, “I did. You were in dire need and I was always taught to help those in need. Lift your chin. There was some dirt I could not remove last night.”
Steve did as he was told then he glanced around the room, “Where are my tunic and shirt? Also, I had a satchel slung over me. Where has it gone? Have you looked inside it?”
She smiled gently, “I washed them as best I could and hung them to dry. Once they had dried, I folded them and put them here on the chair. The satchel I have placed on the chair as well. I did not search your belongings. I will leave you to dress. Should you need any help, please call for me.”
Confusion crossed the man’s face, “Thank you for your aid and the respect you have shown by not searching my things while I was incapacitated. But how should I call for you if I do not know your name, fair one.”
Once more she smiled at him as she turned away, “Eliza Frye.”
Then she was gone and Steve was left alone.
~~
Eliza was seated at her table when the stranger exited the bedroom. Steve noticed that she did not take note of him and cleared his throat causing her to shift her gaze to him, “Oh, my apologies. Would you like some food to eat, good sir?”
He nodded, “Yes, what have you to offer?”
She rose from her chair and made her way into her larder, “I have bread, cheese and eggs. I also have salted pork and cured fish. What takes your fancy?”
The king responded, “I will have the bread and cheese for now. I do not wish to eat all you have.”
Eliza tucked hair behind her ear as she stepped out of the larder with the food he requested, “You do no such thing, kind sir. Please, tell me should you desire more.”
A loud rapping came from her door and Eliza hurried away to answer it. She gulped as the rapping rattled the door. Cautiously sliding it open, she felt herself forced from the home and she hit her knees as two men shoved her down. Eliza knew why the men were there.
The two men were soldiers from a nearby fort. They plagued the little village but targeted Eliza specifically due to her living alone. The taller of the two was a soldier named Rhys Argent. He was cruel and enjoyed the torment of others. Beside him, the other solder, who was named Wendell Colby, sneered at her, “Where’s the payment you promised us?”
Eliza shivered, “I-I-I don’t have any money.”
“I-I-I. Come now. You can do better than that,” Rhys Argent mocked her. Then his tone turned serious, “Do you not recall what we said would happen if you did not pay us?”
She was too frightened to speak and could only keep her eyes forward. Rhys raised his hand then brought it down against the side of her head her cheek causing Eliza to fall over. Wendell Colby let out a low laugh, “Why don’t we start with your precious horse, huh? You want us to take it?”
Eliza said nothing which angered Wendell and Rhys more. As Rhys brought his foot up and connected it to Eliza’s side, Wendell’s eyes grew wide and he fell into a kneel. Rhys didn’t notice and continued his attack on Eliza.
“Kneel,” Wendell hissed.
Rhys did not hear and instead continued his assault on Eliza.
“KNEEL!” A voice boomed.
In one fluid motion, Rhys looked up, his eyes widened in fear and he fell to one knee. Eliza slowly rose up onto her knees then turned. Shock filled her soul. In the doorway stood Steve but not as she had seen him before. A carefully crafted elaborate crown with sapphires and black diamonds was placed upon his head. His tunic and shirt were carefully tucked in but the sleeves flowed freely without restraint. A cloak was clasped around his neck. He looked kingly.
Rhys spoke, “Your majesty! Forgive us!”
Steve hushed him with a glare. He then reached down and helped Eliza to her feet, “Are you badly injured?”
She kept her head down and shook it. Tenderly, Steve used a finger to lift her chin, “Do not be afraid. Let me show you the same kindness you have shown me. Return to your chair and rest. I shall be in once I have dealt with these two.”
Eliza did not cast a glance to the soldiers but quietly smiled at Steve, “Thank you, your majesty.”
With this she reentered her cottage.
Steve turned to the two men and spoke with authority, “Why did you attack an innocent villager? Is your command not to serve and protect my people? Are you not part of your King’s army, sworn to protect the crown and those living under it? What are your names, soldiers?”
The two men stuttered but have no coherent response. “ANSWER YOUR KING!,” Steve roared.
Wendell was the first respond though he kept his head low, “I am Wendell Colby, your majesty. My companion is Rhys Argent. We are soldiers stationed at Whitich Keep.”
Steve hummed, “Whitich Keep. I know it well. Return there and inform your commander that I shall be arriving shortly. I will deal with you at the fort.”
“Yes, majesty.” Wendell replied but neither man moved.
“Now!,” barked King Steve, “And make haste.”
The men fled back to their horses and were swiftly gone fearing any further wrath from the king.
~~
Eliza was seated in her chair, holding a compress to her side when he returned. She was instantly on her knees without a sound. Once more, he lifted her up, “Please do not do that. Not on my account. Please sit.”
She did as he commanded and he picked up his satchel, “I have business to attend at Whitich Keep but I shall return. Before I go, have you a horse I may borrow? I am afraid mine fled in encounter yesterday eve.”
Eliza replied, “I have a mare who is broken and a stallion I have been breaking to ride. I think he is ready and would be more suited for your majesty.”
The king brushed a stray hair from the girl’s face, “You intrigue me, Eliza Frye, and I would like to call on you once more.”
Eliza lost her nerve to speak and Steve smirked, “Have you a tongue, fair one?”
She looked at him with a smile and a laugh, “Aye, I have a tongue, good sir and I use it well.”
They both laughed and King Steve Rogers motioned to the door, “Perhaps you might show me the steed I am to ride so I may hurry away and then back to you?”
She led him out to the paddock and called over the brown Stallion with a low whistle. It trotted over and she watched as Steve, the king, tacked it up. The king turned with a slight bow then swung himself upon the stallion, “Until we meet again.”
Eliza curtseyed to him then watched as he rode away.
~~
Steve entered the village of Gramsby and observed the state of it. The town’s cobbled streets were well-kept and the homes were in perfect condition but something was missing. Slowly, Steve pulled the horse to the side of the street and dismounted the horse he had borrowed from Eliza Frye. Tying the horse to the hitching post, the king made his way to the pub. He was careful to not raise an alarm.
However, when the king reached for the door, he found it shored up from the inside. He heard hushed whispers from the inside the pub and the realization hit him hard. Where are all the people?
The king knocked on the door, “Good gentleman, I have travelled long and wish only for a drink from your establishment. Perhaps I may enter?”
A voice called from inside, “We have very little money or grog.”
~~
The sky seemed to mirror King Steve’s mood as he rode through the gate of Whitich Keep. Above his head, storm clouds had gathered and lightening threatened to crack the sky. A tall man dressed with many medals approached as the blonde king dismounted his horse. With a great swoop, he fell to one knee, “Majesty, we are greatly honored by your presence. How may I be of service to you?”
“Save your pleasantries, General. I did not come here to bandy words. Bring to me the soldiers who are stationed here.”
“I take you would like to deal with Rhys Argent and Wendell Colby. I have placed them in the stockade. What other punishment-“
“SILENCE!” Steve bellowed as the thunder echoed in the sky, “Bring to me ALL of the soldiers stationed here.”
Fearful of furthering the king’s wrath, General Edryd Cadigan motioned for the gathering of his men. The rain began to fall as a mustering horn was sounded. Quickly, the soldiers lined up and one by one fell to one knee. The General spoke to the King, “Majesty, may I-“
Steve cut him off, “Silence, General Cadigan. Tis my turn to speak. Now, who would like to inform me of the incidents in the town of Gramsby?”
Not a single soldier spoke. Instead, they looked among themselves. The king turned toward the captain, “Bring me Rhys Argent and Wendell Colby.”
The captain nodded and walked to the stockade. Again, the king addressed the line of men, “I will only ask you once more. Why have you been tormenting the people of Grimsby?”
A young man stepped forward, “Majesty, if I may speak?”
Steve sized the lad up, “What is your name, son?”
“Aelric Hylderley,” the young man responded, “your majesty.”
Steve approached him, “What do you have to say for these men, Aelric?”
The young soldier gulped, “I am afraid that the people of Grimsby have been targeted by many of the men. The general has done little to curtail the actions of the men in this fort. In fact, he has encouraged it. Those who protested the actions of their fellow soldiers were disciplined.”
Steve bristled, “Where was the captain?”
“Spending most of his time in the stockade for protesting, your majesty.”
The king turned and looked to the captain, “Dismiss your men. I will deal with them one by one. Young Hylderley, what rank are you in this company?”
Aelric shook slightly, “I am a mere soldier, Majesty.”
Steve turned and faced his general, “You will be henceforth stripped of your rank and demoted to Lieutenant in my army. Is that understood?”
Cadigan began to cower, “Yes, Majesty. It’s understood.”
He stepped back, “Captain, take the General into arms and hold him until a new leader arrives at the fort. I have already sent back to the capital for one.”
Another soldier stepped forward, “Yes, your majesty.”
“Now, where are the traitors?”
The captain motioned to the men in chains, “Here, Majesty.”
“Hang them and any other soldiers guilty of harming my people.”
Then Steve turned and walked back to his horse, ignoring the cries of the two men behind him pleading for mercy.
~~
Eliza was sitting alone in the cottage, reading a book, when there came a knock at the door. She rose and made her way over. Timidly, she opened the door to find the King standing before her. Bowing low, she murmured, “Majesty.”
Steve placed his hands at her elbows and matched her tone, “Please, look at me and not my boots.”
Eliza raised her chin and met his gaze, “What may I aid you with, Majesty?”
The king tilted his head, “You are a fascinating creature, Eliza Frye, and I would like to call on you again.”
She shook her head, “It would be ill-advised to do so, your Majesty. I am a commoner and as such would not be worthy of your time. You would be more suited to seek the company of a lady of the court.”
“I believe that as king, that should be my determination, not anyone else’s. I have set my eyes on you and you alone. Would you not prefer my company?”
“I would, Majesty, but I don’t know how the people would take it. I am not like the women of your court least of all, Duchess Margaret whom I hear is a great beauty.”
Steve shook his head, “Nay, you are far more lovely, compassionate and courageous. Please allow me to call on you once more.”
“Very well, my king.”
He bowed to her and turned, “I will have your horse returned to you in haste upon my arrival back at the capital.”
“Keep him. I have no need for another.” Steve smiled the mounted the horse, waved goodbye and spurred the horse toward home.
