To those who asked why I deleted it... I didn't. :)
Hey, everyone. I want to take the opportunity to say something that's been percolating in my head for the past two days. There are several reasons I've put it off, but it's important, so I can't continue to do so.
As some of you may know, some artwork was shared recently that included a character that I'm familiar with. It's a character I know and love. In the art, the character was undoubtedly whitewashed, and while I didn't reblog it on my personal blog, I did like and comment. Further, I reblogged on CFWC, which, in my opinion, is even worse. CFWC is a place for the whole fandom where everyone should feel safe, and I failed at my job to make it so. I fucked up, and even worse, I didn't even realize until it was pointed out to me. Honestly, that's messing with my head because it was obvious... how did I not see it?
Racism is not something I take lightly, and I do my best not to tolerate it in my personal life. I come from a mixed-race family, on both my Latine and Mediterranian sides. I understood at a young age how my light-skinned cousins and I were treated much better than my cousins with dark skin. Not only by strangers but by our own freaking family. Once I was old enough to understand why, I tried my best to break that pattern and be a better person. I think I've succeeded in many ways, but I know damn well that I have also failed on more than one occasion. Racism and white supremacy are so intrinsic in our society that sometimes I didn't even realize the shit I was doing was racist and wrong.
But in this case, I know whitewashing is wrong, and no matter how disappointed I am with myself, I can't deny the truth. I know what whitewashing is. I know it's racist. I know it's wrong. I know it hurts people, yet my actions supported it. I've spent a long time wrangling with my thoughts, trying to understand how I could have done it. Was I just so blind and privileged that I didn't see it? Was I just rushing through notifications late at night and not paying attention? But at the end of the day, the reason is irrelevant. It doesn't matter how or why it's done, the bottom line is it hurt people, and I need to take responsibility.
I want to profusely apologize to those I hurt. I don't have to question if... I know I hurt and disappointed people, and saying I'm sorry doesn't feel like enough. So I give you my word, my promise to do better and not repeat this. I will be more cognizant of the content I'm engaging with and do my part to foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcome. I failed at that this week. If I could undo it, I would, but I swear, I'll do better.
I'm sorry it took me two days to address this. There were valid reasons for the delay, but I couldn't ignore this any longer. This is difficult to talk about and hard to admit, but it's nowhere near the difficulties and pain that pervasive racism forces BIPOC people to live with every day. I am so truly sorry.

This was adorable! OMG, the HORROR. I'm suddenly glad most of my childhood videos were destroyed in Hurricane Sandy! 😂😂😂 I love these two!
The Secret History
Tumblr media
Book: Crimes of Passion
Pairing: m!Trystan Thorne x Emma Rose (F!MC)
Rating: General audiences
Word count: 638
Summary: Trystan is planning a special movie night. Only, they're not actually watching a movie.
A/N: I wrote this last night on my phone, but I was too tired to transcribe it. For @inlocusmads, who gave me the prompt "There is a method to my madness" "Oh for heaven's sake-" "It's a three step process actually." Drabble 18 of my 30 days of drabbles.
Tumblr media
Anyone who knows Trystan Thorne knows this: he isn’t one to do things by halves. And that involves preparing for movie nights.
“We’re just going to watch a movie,” Emma complains, exasperated, when he moves the bowl of (salty) popcorn half an inch further from the (sour) candy. Again.
“No, my dear. We’re going to watch something much more interesting. Besides, there is a method to my madness.”
She runs a hand through her hair. “Oh, for heaven’s sake.”
“It’s a three-step process, actually. First: ensure you have enough food.” He waves a hand in the direction of the loaded coffee table. “Achieved. Second: everything must be in perfect order. The salted and sweet popcorn must be on opposite sides of the table.”
“Please tell me you already managed that. I can’t keep watching you organize the snacks.”
“Already done.”
“Thank God.”
“And third.” He points at the couch. “Ensure that the cushions are in perfect shape.”
Emma drops her head to her hands. “I’m never watching a movie with you again. Wait.” She peers up at him. “You said we were going to watch something more interesting than a movie.”
The corners of his mouth kick up. “Did I? Interesting turn of phrase.”
“Trystan, what are you up to?”
“My dearest Emma, why would you think I’m up to something?”
“Because I know you, and that gleam in your eyes never bodes well.”
“Oh yes. There is that. Well.” He sits and pats the spot on the couch next to him. “Let’s watch some TV.”
Still suspicious, she takes her seat. “Out with it.”
“Out with what?”
“Whatever it is that has you so…” She looks for the right word. “Smirky.”
“Smirky, is it? Well, I suppose you have a right to know, seeing as it concerns you-.”
He takes the remote and presses play. Emma drops the fistful of popcorn she just grabbed. “Oh. Oh no. Please tell me that isn’t…”
“A fourteen-year-old Emma Rose, in a very youthful performance of the Scottish play.”
She covers her eyes. “Turn that off.”
“Not a chance.” But he hits pause, not wanting to miss a minute. “Why would you want me to?”
“Because.” Still covering her eyes with one hand, she tries to wrestle the remote from him. “That was my very first play. I’m wearing a witch costume…”
“With a hat?” He asks hopefully.
“Of course there’s a hat. I had artistic integrity.”
“Oh, I can’t wait to watch this.”
“My hair looks like I stuck my fingers in an outlet...”
“I’m sure it adds character.”
“I’m cackling…”
“Actually cackling or just laughing?”
“Cackling. Think Bette Midler in Hocus Pocus.”
He actually rubs his hands together. “This just keeps getting better.”
“And I sing. Or, well, chant.”
“So? I know you can sing.”
“Yeah, now. I couldn’t sing then. I fear for your windows. They might break.”
“I’ll replace them.”
She drops her hand. “There’s no talking you out of this, is there?”
“I'm afraid not.”
“Fine. Let’s watch teenage me make a fool of herself.”
“If you want, I can tell you embarrassing stories from my teenage years later.”
“Not quite the same unless you’re providing footage. Although…” A slow smile spreads on her face. “I could always text Marguerite.”
Trystan’s expression goes from indulgent to alarmed in two seconds flat. “Now, wait a minute.”
“Turnabout is fair play, my prince.”
He heaves a sigh. “All right. We can have another viewing session when you have that footage. But for now, can we watch this, please?”
“Wait!” She plucks a throw pillow and holds it in front of her face. “Okay, I’m ready.”
Trystan is already laughing when she hears her own voice, minus about fifteen years, begin to speak.
When shall we three meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?
Right. She’s texting Lydea, too.

Hey E! I'm currently reading If This Gets Out and I keep thinking about this one paragraph since yesterday..
Tumblr media
(Good thing I bought this when the bookstore had a deal on books in English, so I don't have to try and translate, lol 😅)
Anyway, my question is: Has any of your queer characters experienced something like this? 🤔 When they were made to believe they did something wrong or were left out of something or anything else along those lines for a certain reason, but they later realized the real reason had to do with them being queer?
Thank you!
Hey Hon,
Thanks for the ask. Look, the truth is, no one who is queer escapes having this happen to them at some point in real life. So yeah, it's safe to assume it's going to happen to fictional queer characters, too. There is no avoiding it; there are always bigoted assholes lurking somewhere and not all of them are obvious about it.
Now, you gave me an idea for a fic that I may or may not write.... may or may not post... but I'd definitely send it to you! lol
Thanks so much for the ask, hon!

I have already decided my HC will be all mine after Book 2. I don't trust Pixelberry to do anything well. MC's Mom? I'll come up with my own HC. Her Dad's murder? I'll likely do the same. I doubt PB will address it, and if they do, it will likely suck. So....
I am having mixed feelings about Crimes:Proposal book.....on one hand happy to get this book since we could see the duo going on dates and solving mysteries but on one hand I am really fearing that there won't be a book 3.Pb didn't have plans for b3 but seeing the success, they announced b3 but with the recent layoffs and no news of cop3,maybe they are gonna cancel it and they wrote a side book to give a satisfying end to the series with them getting engaged at the end.
Someone knock my head with a hammer to stop me from OVERTHINKING!

Thanks so much for sharing @delmissesryanandcassi ❤️❤️

Yeah, it's April. lol But I always wanted art for this part of Tobias & Casey's story, and as I revamped this series to move their HC along, I decided to go for it. (Hell, who knows if I'll even be here in December.) So... here it is. Once again, Instagram's @/artbyainna knocked it out of the park.
My babies were not a couple at this point... I know... they sure look like they are... but they were still stubbornly clinging to that "just friends" thing because the denial was strong! lol
This is from the fic A Bite of the Apple in the Christmas Through Your Eyes series. Yeah. I love them! ❤️

You know, it's not even necessarily about bullying (except for the hate anons. Those are ALWAYS bullying.)
Sometimes, people are afraid to speak directly. I see it in real life (LAWD my family!) ... the triangulation, the "insinuating"... everything but speaking directly to the person involved.
I don't know why being direct is so scary for us - it is for me, too, at times - I have just tried to push past it. Because, in the end, it's SO much easier.
"Hey, I saw this... and I wanted to ask you if..." so, so, so much better.
Of course, I should add that it's incumbent on the person being approached to keep their cool and respond in a polite manner as well. It's easy to get our guard up if someone comes to us with a difficult topic, but keeping an open mind and keeping the discourse civil is the way forward.
This is all Kindergarten stuff, I don't know why we're grown adults still messing it all up. :(
The amount of issues that could be avoided if people had the decency and maturity to speak to each other like civilized human beings instead of resorting to the more commonly used methods here, like anon hate, vagueing, and passive-aggressive posts that are clearly targeting a person or group.
In the three years I have been on this hellsite, I have witnessed how these "methods" turn minor issues into outright, unnecessary wars.
Here is some information for those who are unaware:
Anon hate is douchey and wrong. If you send it, you're a douche and wrong. Period. If you can't understand that, please stop reading because you are already beyond help.
Unless someone has notifications set for you, there is an excellent chance that your intended target will not even see your vague/passive-aggressive rants.
Then, when said vague/passive-aggressive rant goes unanswered and ignored, the person or mob behind it festers, simmers, and becomes more outraged.
Bruh. They probably never even saw it, and if they did, they may not known it was directed at them. Now, the problem is 10 times bigger and, best of all, the original problem was never even addressed, much less solved!
Here's another tip:
Don't always assume the worst about someone!
Especially when you never bothered to communicate with them. You're making blind assumptions when you have little or no facts. Trust me, unless you're a mind reader, you don't. You're not that smart, babes. Trust me. I'm not, either. TALK like grownups. It's much easier than all the bullshit that arises because of the above.
Now, you may be saying, "Hey, yeah, but aren't you vagueing/targeting right now, too?"
I'm sure some will take it that way. Since they likely won't reach out to me directly, they'll take their skewed logic as gospel and insist that they know my motivation. They'll also insist it's regarding "this" fandom event or whatever our drama du jour is.
Well, absolutely no one knows my motivation except me. So I'll make it clear. This is not geared toward any specific event, past or present, but an amalgamation of everything I've seen and experienced in the past three years. My motivation is two-fold. 1) I'm letting off steam, but, more importantly, 2) it is my sincere hope that people will see this, think about how they act and interact with others, and try to be better people.
I'm sure the fandom mind readers will dismiss what I just said and assign motivation to me. Have at it. I don't care.
No one knows my motivation except me, and no one knows my desired end goal, either. My desired end goal Is that everyone, myself included, will reflect more on how they behave and treat other people. I assure you, doing this will save others, the fandom, and, more importantly, it will save yourself a whole hell of a lot of unnecessary distress.
It's not that hard. Be better.
