Chapter 16
Excitement bubbled in Melody's stomach as she rode the Avengers Tower elevator up with Bobbi.  They’d both been to the tower plenty of times.  They’d met all the Avengers.  This was different though.  They weren’t there to sleep over with their prospective boyfriends.  They weren’t there for a party that half of the city had been invited to.  They weren’t there for work.  Tony Stark had invited them to dinner with the team specifically to get to know them.  He’d even had an assistant call to find out if either of them had any special dietary requirements to make sure they felt completely correctly catered for.  He wanted them to feel comfortable because for the Avengers this was the equivalent of meeting the family.
It felt like a big deal.  A relationship marker.  This was the part where the people who loved them best decided if Melody and Bobbi were good enough for them.  Melody just wished it had been Steve’s idea.
Bobbi reached over and gave Melody a push.  “It’s going to be fine.  It’s just dinner.”
Melody pushed her back. “I know.  I know.  It just feels like a big deal.  I don’t know if I should ask Steve to come meet my parents after this or what.”
“Well, at least you get to think about that as an option,” Bobbi said.
Melody frowned and put her arm around her cousin.  “I’m sorry.  I know.  But you got me.”
Bobbi rested her cheek on the top of Melody’s head for a moment.  “Yeah, I’ve got you,” she said.  “And Bucky’s already met you, and he thinks you’re great.  So I’ve got nothing to worry about.  Still, there are my sisters, and I hold out hope mom and dad will come around.”
The elevator opened, and to Melody’s surprise, instead of opening out onto the party deck where she’d first met the rest of the team, it was straight into an apartment.  She could only assume this was the penthouse because it appeared to take up the entire floor, and at least the one above too, as there was a large glass staircase that wound up on the left of the room.  Ahead of her were three steps that led to what appeared to be a living room and the top of the Chrysler building dominated the view out of the floor-to-ceiling windows.  The Avengers were all sitting on the couches together and they stood when the doors opened.  As well as Steve, Bucky, and Tony there, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Sam Wilson, James Rhodes, Bruce Banner, Wanda Maximoff, Thor, Maria Hill, Sharon Carter, and Pepper Potts were all there.  She’d met them all at the party, though some only very briefly, and while most she knew just due to their fame, there were others whose job it was not to be known by the general public.  Melody had Steve go through everyone’s names before coming just so she wouldn’t embarrass herself.
“Here are the guests of honor,” Tony announced, when they approached he stepped forward and kissed each of them on the cheek.  “Welcome, welcome.  Have you all met?  I’m sure you know most of them from their do-goodings.  That’s Maria and Sharon.  Anyone else you might not know?”
“It’s fine, Tony,” Steve said as he put his arm around Melody.  “They both met everyone at the party.”
“Though some of us only briefly,” Hill said.  “It’s nice to see you still around.  I don’t think any of us have ever seen that before.”
“This is the first person I’ve even seen Bucky actually date,” Clint said.
“There was that blind date Natasha set him up on,” Sam replied.
“Alright, alright.  We don’t all need to be going over my love life in front of my girlfriend,” Bucky said.
Bobbi took his hand and kissed his palm. “Your past doesn’t bother me, mi corazón.  They can tease.”
“Great, permission granted,” Sam said, rubbing his hands together.  “This is going to be great!”
Bucky groaned and ran his prosthetic hand down his face.  “Fuckin’ great.”
“Come on, come on,” Tony said.  “Dinner won’t wait forever.  Let’s go through.”
Melody had never seen a dining table as large as the one in Tony’s dining room in person before, and while she’d seen ones on TV just as big or maybe even larger, they featured on shows with vampires, or large mafia families, or epic sagas with Kings and Queens.  Those tables were always dark and heavy hardwood.  Often they were ornately carved.  This was nothing like those tables.  It was rectangular and made of what looked like a single piece of highly polished obsidian and sat on a support of polished chrome in the shape of an x.
Steve pulled out one of the black padded chairs for Melody and she took her seat as everyone else sat down around her.  As soon as they were seated two waiters came out and began filling glasses.  One poured either red or white wine into the wine glasses, while the other poured water into the highballs beside them.  Already set out on the table were platters with olives and warm sourdough bread, as well as meatballs, stuffed zucchini flowers, focaccia, and some kind of arancini.
Melody helped herself to a little of everything as the rest of the group filled their plates.  She was used to eating with Steve and Bucky at this point and wasn’t surprised to see how full Bucky’s plate was, nor how Steve had leaned more into the high protein things like the meatballs over the empty calories of the white bread.  She was surprised to see just how much Thor had taken.  He had dragged an entire platter of meatballs down to himself and added handfuls of everything else to it.
“Speaking of people’s love lives,” Melody said.  “How’s things going with Mattie, Sam?  He talks about you a lot.”
Sam’s eyes lit up at the mention of his new relationship.  “It’s going great,” he said.  “I mean - you know what it’s like dating an Avenger.  I don’t always have a lot of free time, but we’re having a great time together.”
“Ohh… is there another meet-the-family dinner coming up?” Tony asked, a teasing tone in his voice.
“I’ll happily let all of you degenerates meet him any time,” Sam teased.  “But we’re a little way off taking him back to Lousianna.”
Tony put his hand on his chest.  “I’m wounded, Tweety.  You wound me.”
The appetizers were already starting to run out and the waiters started to bring out bowls of a rich soup filled with clams still in their shells.”
“That’s Zuppa Di Vongole,” Tony explained.  “It was one of my grandmother’s favorites.  Or if you don’t eat fish, you’re getting minestrone.”
“How many courses are we having tonight, Tony?” Steve asked.
“Just six,” he said.  “I didn’t go overboard.”
Sharon, Sam, and Clint started laughing, while Steve, Pepper, and Rhodey shook their heads, the look of resigned disbelief was mirrored in all of them.
“Thank you so much for doing all this, Tony,” Bobbi said.  “In a way, it reminds me of dinners with my whole extended family.  Only we all cooked together as well.  And it was a lot more dysfunctional.”
“Give it time,” Bucky muttered.
“You don’t want to cook with all of us,” Bruce said.  “There’s only a couple of people here who can cook.  Most of us burn water.”
“Well part of the fun is passing on tradition, isn’t it?” Bobbi said.  “Bucky’s a great cook.  We’ve been teaching each other different recipes.”
“I didn’t know you liked cooking, Bucky,” Sam said.
Bucky shrugged. “You don’t know lots of things about me.”
Sam looked at him deadpan.  “Well I was going to offer to share some of my family recipes with you, but see if I do now.”
Melody was using one of her clam shells to pick out the clams from the others, but there was still a lot of soup left in her bowl compared to the people around her.  She was a little worried she’d still be eating by the time the next course came out.  She leaned up to Steve’s ear.  “I might need your help to eat all this.”
Steve chuckled.  “And you’re asking me?”
“Think of it as a public service.  Your poor hard done by girlfriend needs to save face,” she whispered.
Steve laughed harder and stole a quick kiss.  “Okay, I’ll help you,” he said.
“Thank you, honey,” she said and kissed his cheek.
Steve shook his head, smiling affectionately as he scooped some of the soup from Melody’s bowl into his own.  She was just getting to the bottom of the bowl when the waiters came out with the next course.  This time it was a salad course.  Most everyone got a Caprese salad, though Tony and Pepper seemed to have gone for something without dairy that featured pear and red cabbage.
“Still avoiding dairy, Tones?” Rhodey asked.
“Well, cutting it down.  It’s hard when there’s a Ben and Jerry’s flavor named after me,” Tony said.
“That’s not the humble brag you think it is, Tones,” Clint said.  “Most of the people here have Ben and Jerry’s flavors named after them.”
“And not one of them is as good as Phish Food,” Maria said.
“Woah, woah, woah,” Tony said.  “Hey now, I won’t hear a thing against Stark Raving Hazelnuts.”
Melody was starting to think she might make it through the entire six courses as she ate her salad.  It was light and fresh, and it didn’t feel like it was filling her up at all.  Then the waiters began bringing out the next course.
“Gnocchi with pesto cream,” Tony said.  “But it’s a cashew cream.”
Melody took a sip of her wine before she started eating.  Before she even took a bite, the conversation had started up again.
“Stark said you interviewed him, Lady Bobbi,” Thor said.
“Yeah, that’s right,” she said.  “We had fun.  You should do it.”
Tony snorted and took a quick swallow of his water.  “Sorry.  I just imagined what it would be like for your team to be making food from 2000 BCE.”
“Just big slabs of meat roasted over coals,” Melody laughed.
“I would not complain,” Thor said.  “A feast is a feast.”
“That sounds better than what I had to eat.  Everything I had was set in jello,” Tony said.
Clint laughed loudly. “Amazing.  I can’t wait to watch it.”
“So what’s the premise?” Sharon asked.
“Just a casual interview while you eat food made from recipes in magazines that came out the year you were born,” Melody said.  “We have other ideas too.  But so far we like that one.”
“That does sound fun.  I hate doing interviews and I’d do that,” Clint said.
“You’d be so welcome,” Melody said.  “I was also thinking of doing a series where we compared things from different chains.  Like pizza or burgers.”
“Oh, oh, I want to do that one,” Clint said.
“I’ll call you to set it up. Thanks, Clint,” Melody said.
“So what did you have to eat Tony?” Natasha said.
“There was a red cabbage salad in a jello that tasted like acid,” Tony said. “This loaf made of creamed liver, this sandwich that was made to look like a cake.”
“Mmm… sounds so appetizing,” Rhodey said.
“I was a little worried he was going to get revenge with this dinner,” Bobbi joked.
“There’s still two courses to go,” Sam said.
Tony laughed hard.  “See, I’m a better person than I thought.  That didn’t even occur to me.”
Despite Steve’s help, Melody was very full by the time she finished the pasta course.  She noticed that most of the other mortals were struggling too.  Pepper’s plate was practically full when they took it away and replaced it with Tuscan-style lamb shanks, while the non-meat eaters were given eggplant parmigiana.  Thankfully, the conversation flowed freely around the room.  So while Melody was feeling overfull, she didn’t feel uncomfortable at all.
The fact that Steve’s friends were all so open to accepting both Melody and Bobbi was gratifying.  Nothing was quite as gratifying as seeing Steve and Bucky enjoying having Melody and Bobbi fit in with their friends.  By the end of the night, Steve had never looked so in love, and it made Melody’s heart feel full every time he looked at her.
By the end of the night and after a serving of Tiramisu served with Vin Santo, Melody not only felt very full but very content.
She said goodnight to everyone and headed to the elevator with Steve.  “Will you spend the night?” Steve asked.
She looked up at him and smiled. “You couldn’t keep me away.”

CHAPTER 3
“Can I help you?”
Soft and soothing, that's the way you would describe her voice if anyone would ask, but nobody did, so let's move on. You try to find anything to say that would take you out of this “deer caught in the headlights” moment, not daring to take more time to let the silence linger. You straighten out your posture trying to physically take up more space, trying to show any ounce of confidence in this really not confidence allowing, environment that your day created for you.
“Actually yes. Would you like to talk about our lord and saviour Jesus Christ? The one and only, who can save us from the pits of hell that humanity is running into with this whole LGBT propaganda, women trying to have rights, not being chained to the kitchen madness.” She looks confused which gives you the upper hand, at least that's what you think until she gives you this cocky but proud smile which catches you off guard, and now you are the confused one.
“You must be y/n. It's really nice to meet you. I’ve been looking forward to it.” She takes a step back to let you into your own apartment and sticks her hand out towards you to get an actual greeting. You go in and take off your shoes, only using your heel and toes for it. You don't put the bags down, and you don't engage in the physical contact that the redhead is waiting for. You look up at her, and you appreciate the much better lighting than the one in the café, because right now you can actually see the depth in the colour of her eyes. You’ve never seen eyes like that, and it's deeply interesting. As much as you want to go into this, inside of your head, on an intellectual journey about why people have different eye colours and if their lifestyle can change the outcome of that colour. But it’s not the space or time for that, so you force yourself back into the present, to the woman standing with her hand outstretched.
“Yeah it's me. And all day I was looking forward to getting a shower, so excuse me.” You don't even give her a chance to respond as you move swiftly around her and disappear deeper into the apartment, quickly walking into your room. You feel a little bit awkward and embarrassed, but your priority is your mental state right now, and you need to wash the day off of your body.
After putting everything in place and taking a shower which took you around 30 minutes, because you are not trying to get Darcy mad, she is terrifying when she is mad, you pull some outfit together and go to the living room where you hear everybody chatting. Classic loose mom jeans and a sentimental flannel fit you nicely, not showing too much of your skin, but still not making you a nun.
As you walk in, you throw a loud “hi guys,” in the direction of the sitting area, and go straight to the kitchen which is connected to the living room by the island. Maria immediately stands up to hug you, and she’s never too shy to show care through physical touch. It makes a lot of sense since it's her love language.
You hug her back with just as much force as she does, and as she is going back to where she was sitting, you take a non-alcoholic cold beer out of the fridge.
“We have wine if you are interested.”  This voice is also new to you, but this one is a little bit deeper. It's flowing through the room and if you wouldn't have any control over yourself, like your flatmates, you would probably have goosebumps all over your body.
“She doesn't drink, this bitch is in the sober club.” Darcy answers for you, clearly a little bit pissed that you didn't say hi before the shower, but you hear the little hint of teasing in her voice.
“That's interesting. Why?” Another new voice makes you turn around and lean on the kitchen island. Just then, you take in the whole picture in front of you. The biggest couch is occupied by Carol and Darcy sitting between her legs. Carol's hand is intertwined with your friend's and as much as you will never admit it, the lovesick look on your friend's face is making you really happy and glad that she found someone like Carol. In the big chair on your right there is a new figure, a really elegant woman you have never met before, but in some way her face is familiar. Her strawberry blonde hair is put into a tight ponytail, and it makes her features look really sharp. Her business outfit brings out the seriousness in her, but a fancy, colourful drink with a big piece of grapefruit levels it out to a neutral position. She has a hard demeanour with a really warm, friendly smile. You are aware that on the left side of the room, on a smaller couch, sits Maria with the two women you recognize from the café. Without making direct eye contact with them, in the corner of your eye you can say that your flatmate is throwing herself at them, which they don't seem to mind. The woman that greeted you at the door is on her left with her hand in Maria's hair, the woman on her right is less shy, freely grabbing her exposed thigh. You are pretty sure that they both are looking straight at you, but you are putting your attention to answer the question. You hop smoothly onto the kitchen counter and lean back for the beer glass. Taking a long sip, you think of an answer while looking at the woman in the chair.
“What’s interesting is the fact that people always ask why I don’t drink. I mean, if I were to tell you that I don't eat carrots nobody would question it, but as soon as it's about the alcohol people ask why. Social constructs, I guess. But about why, I was diagnosed with ADHD at the beginning of the year.” You casually explain.
“And you can’t drink while you take your medication?” The same deep voice turns your attention to the left. They seem to be really interested in what you're saying. Their focus on you is razor sharp.
“I can and I did. I mean, you probably shouldn’t and my psychiatrist doesn't recommend it, even if I didn't have any bad reactions to drinking. It was a good enough excuse for me to stop. I don't enjoy getting drunk either way, and since I'm always sober, I can at least be the DD.” She seems confused, but Carol makes sure to fill her in as soon as you are done talking.
“Designated driver. One person always agrees to not drink, so everybody can get home safely.” Redhead nods in acknowledgement, and Carol lets go of Darcy to allow her to stand up to refill their drinks.
“Did you bring the whisky?” It's Darcy's favourite kind and the only thing she orders while visiting you at work. You have to admit that it's a really nice 12-year-old blended, scotch whisky, and the only thing you miss since you stopped drinking. Without answering her, you jump off the counter and leave the living room to grab two bottles from your room. As you bring them back, she already prepared glasses for everybody to try. While she fills them up, she starts speaking.
“Y/n this is Pepper, Pepper Stark. She is the CEO of Stark tech company. She is also in the middle of writing an incredible book.” She introduces you as she hands the drink to the woman on the chair. Her name gives you an idea of why she seems familiar. Tony Stark teaches at your ex's university. You heard so much about him that you feel like you were attending his course yourself. Cold but creative, a leader but a dickhead, the list goes on and on. Adding up all you know from Shuri and other students, you can assume why she divorced this talented bastard. The news made it out to be a massive deal when she overtook his company. But Stark tech has never been better than under her leadership.
“Nice to meet you, y/n.”
“Likewise.” You nod at her from a distance. You have a lot of respect for powerful, successful women.
“This is Natasha and this is Wanda.” They don't bother standing up, so you don't move from your position waiting for Darcy to give you more information.
“They are the co-owners of a law company. Wanda is an amazing lawyer with a Smith Award and Natasha is a CFP designated financial adviser.” You nod at them, completely unamused.
“That's impressive.” It’s not. “ Nice to meet you both, I’m y/n.”
“I think we already know each other, sugar.” Natasha says, and you can't help but be curious about where she finds the audacity. Her eyes are fixated on you while her hand stays on Maria’s thigh, but travels a little bit higher. You can't help but watch and think to yourself…. What the fuck. This whole situation is rather weird, but your roommate definitely enjoys the attention. You on the other hand feel like they both are trying to dominate you, and you are about to put it to stop, but before you can say anything, Wanda is already speaking.
“We hope you enjoyed your cold brew. I bet it felt nice to not have to pay for your own coffee for once.” You don't even need a second to think. You grab your wallet from your back pocket, take out a 20 dollar bill and put it on the coffee table in front of Wanda, all without taking your eyes off of her.
''You can keep the change.” This definitely pulls a reaction out of your friends. They know how much you work and how much you are struggling with finances. Trying to earn money to publish your poetry and to stop worrying about staying afloat every single month. You return to your place next to the kitchen island, not paying attention to Wanda’s or Natasha’s reaction.
''y/n that’s not what she-'' Darcy starts speaking but is soon cut off by Wanda defending her motive.
''That's not what I meant, baby.” Honestly, what is it with strangers and pet names? They see you for the first time and definitely feel too comfortable with their approach.
“With all due respect, I went there just to support my friend, to watch over her in case it turns out that both of you are some creepy, thirsty, questionable individuals. I didn’t ask you to pay for it.''
“They were trying to be nice, y/n. That's it. Calm down.” Maria tries to settle you down, feeling uneasy in this situation.
“Well in that case I really appreciate it. Please don’t do it ever again, thank you.” This situation is straight out of some Bruce Wayne shit.
“Y/n! Are you okay?” The room went weirdly silent. Yes, you got a little bit heated, but you weren't even yelling or arguing.
“Yeah. Why?” Darcy is on her feet immediately, same as Wanda. That confuses you even more.
“You’re bleeding.” The redhead stands right in front of you with those green big eyes and all you think about is getting out of her reach. Just then, you look down, and your beer is stained red. Your hand travels immediately to your nose, finding out that you have a full on nose bleed.
“Shit. Yeah, I'm okay just, shit… just give me a second.” You say quickly and if the whole attention wasn’t on you, people would’ve miss what you said. Someone goes after you, you can feel the presence behind you.
“Fuck.” Just as you see yourself in the mirror, you get an idea of why their reaction was as big. Blood is literally dripping from your nose, it's not a light one either. As you lean above the sink trying to use cold water to minimize the damage, you hear the voice behind you.
“Let me help. You have to-”
“No, thanks, I got this.” Wanda won't let go that easily.
“Baby, I'm just trying-”
“Do you use nicknames on all strangers you meet?” You can't help but bite back, it makes you feel uncomfortable. She ignores your question and tries to move your flannel out of the back of your neck. You jump at her touch, not in a good way. Her hand is cold from the drink she was holding, and she is too close to you.
“I don’t need your help.” Your hand is red, half of the sink stained, and the blood doesn't seem to stop coming any time soon. Before she can try to make a move one more time, the bathroom door opens with force.
“Sit your ass down, and pinch your nose right above your nostrils.” Darcy is stern in her voice and right when you think about telling her off she continues.
“I'm not going to tell you twice. Sit your ass down, or I'm going to yell for Carol, and she is going to make you.” You look at her in the mirror in front of you. She stands tall, arms crossed at her chest, while she is holding something green in one hand. Wanda is still in the bathroom with both of you, she looks surprisingly concerned about this whole situation. Darcy is not backing down and for your own sake you are sitting down on the toilet cover.
“Always so fucking stubborn. Hold this.” A bag of frozen peas lands on the back of your neck, almost making you jump.
“I got this.” Wanda chimes in and as you are about to argue, Darcy's look makes you stop. Coldness travels down your spine and your head feels light because of the blood loss. It happens often, but not as bad as this one. Your friend leaves, and as you are left with Wanda, all you want is to avoid unnecessary conversations.
“Does it happen often?” Seems like you can't avoid it.
“No.”
“Darcy says it does.”
“Then why do you ask?” For just a second she looks sad, and you realize that you act a little bitchy.
“Sorry, it's just annoying.”
“It's okay, thank you for apologizing. Your friends say that you overwork yourself a lot. Is that the reason it's happening?”
“No. No, it's not.”
“Then what is it? Her concern seems fake, or needed as a social expectation of the situation. You don't know why, but it makes you feel sick, or maybe it's the headache that's coming.
“Cocaine.” By her expression you can see that she is shocked but tries to be as casual about it as she can.
“She’s kidding.” Darcy is no fun. She returns to your side and kneels in front of you, taking your head into her hands. As she makes sure you are okay, she tells Wanda to take off the bag, and you are surprised when you feel her drying your skin with a towel, after the ice melted.
“Go lie down. And no working y/n. No essays, no school, no working. I mean it.” You laugh at her and thank both of them for help. After cleaning yourself up, you don't bother going to the living room anymore, and you disappear in your sheets.
You wake up some time later with a full on headache. Naps are the worst thing that can happen. You never felt good after taking one. You put on a jumper and take a look at the time. It's dark outside and the clock shows 1am. You couldn't be more grateful for that. If that was 4am, you probably wouldn't go to sleep anymore. Since it's relatively early, you can still catch a couple of hours of sleep. Priority now is taking care of your headache.
The apartment is really quiet. As you move smoothly through the hall, you pay attention to the shoes mess at the entrance. Pepper is not here, but it seems as though Carol and two redheads are still in your apartment. Also, Kate still isn't back. Her room is open and as much as you would love to spare her the pain of the conversation that awaits, it's killing you that she still isn't aware of what happened. Even the worst of the truths is better than lying.
It’s dark, soft light comes from your bedroom behind you and the living room in front of you. Darcy's doors are closed, which means that Carol is probably staying the night, it's not unusual. You just don't understand why they would stay here when they have like five other houses to choose from. You are surprised to see the living room occupied. On one of the stools, you can see Wanda finishing up a glass of red wine. Her lips are a little bit stained because of it, and the soft light coming from the candle brightens up her face, bringing out all the features. Her jaw looks really sharp, and you can't help but think that rich people definitely put too much money into fixing up unimportant things about them. It would be amazing if that kind of operation would work on personalities too. As soon as she sees you, she puts down her glass and straightens her posture, probably trying to dominate you. It's too late for that, and you are too tired to play her game, so you don't acknowledge her presence.
“How are you feeling, y/n?” She asks as you enter the kitchen to fish inside the cabinet for your favourite tea and your mug. You stay silent, trying to pretend that you didn't hear her worried voice, flowing through the empty kitchen.
“Y/n?” She tries again, her voice is softer now as you are about to run away. She thinks you are weak. At least that's what you are telling yourself.
“I feel thirsty.” You search the inside of the cabinet trying to navigate through a million types of cups, mugs and glasses, thinking why do you need so many. You hear her subtle laughter, and god nobody made you that confused with their reactions, confused and annoyed. You swear under your breath, not finding your favourite green mug in the place it should be. The dishwasher is open and empty, and all you can think of is searching the house to find your comfort object. It's a gift from your brother, and everybody knows not to touch it, so who in the hell would-  it's like a lightbulb being turned on above your head. You turn around with so much power, scanning the surroundings in front of you. You spot your mug standing next to Wanda, and she catches that.
“Oh, that's what you’re looking for?” She makes it sounds like a question, but her smirk is nothing else but an invitation to her game, in which you are not planning to participate. As you let out a loud sigh, you go around the kitchen island to grab it. At the same time she turns around on the chair following your movement. You are not going to ask for it back, just as she didn't ask if she can use it. Is it normal for people like them to just take what they want?
“Oh, you want it?” Honestly, you can help but think, “is she dumb?”.
“No, actually I came over to leave it where it is, I just wanted to see it up close.” Sarcasm is dripping from every word you say. Your sentence is coated in it hoping that she will get the message.
“It or me?”
“Oh get over yourself” You reach to her left, the mug is almost in your hand, but she is faster. She snatches it into her hand, drinks the rest of the water she had in it, and lifts it up to have it out of your reach.
“Why would I? I enjoy it too much.” Your eyes are fixated on hers, the green colour sparkles with golden flakes in dimmed light. Her left hand keeps her stable by holding the counter. Your eyes are going lower, following the movement of her body. Her jacket falls lightly to the sides as she opens her legs in front of you. She wants you to reach for it. It feels like you have to work for your own property.
“Of course you do. Does the lack of manners come in a rich, self-indulgent package?” It seems like she is too mighty to have people talking to her that way. As much as you adore Carol, her friends are not your favourite kind of people. While she takes a second to react to the boldness of your statement, you use this moment to your advantage. You grab her free wrist and pull it into your direction, causing her to lose balance and fall forward. To avoid an actual fall, she grabs anything to regain control, and the closest thing to her is you. Her hand falls right onto your waist. As being just in your pyjamas, a basic t-shirt is not helpful when her cold palm digs into your side. The whole situation takes like 5 seconds, and you can't react fast enough to get out of her grip. You find yourself in an awkward position. Her face is too close to yours, as she gasps you can feel her breath on your skin. It's also cold, you assume it's because of the wine she was just drinking. It has to be an expensive kind, too, because you can't smell sulphur in her breath. Instead of actually letting you go, she seems to fight herself not to bring you closer. You can't figure out what kind of game she is playing, but you refuse to give her the upper hand in whatever this is. You get closer to her, your lips barely inches apart, her breath hitches, and before she can make any move she hears you whisper.
“Let me go.” The realization of what she is doing comes on her really fast, and she looks almost scared. The proximity of your bodies allows you to grab the mug at the last second and as she lets you go, you return to the kettle. You notice that the air in the room feels thick, so you make a mental note of opening a window before returning to your room. Trying to salvage your grip on the situation, you decide to change the topic, not mentioning that you are already convincing yourself that nothing happened.
“So!” That brings her attention towards you. The steaming green mug in your hand feels like a trophy.
“Where's your wife?” You take a sip, trying to sound natural and casual. It's after 1am, and you are in the kitchen, with a stranger, wearing a t- shirt and underwear as your pyjamas, after the two of you were in a really uncomfortable position. Bringing her wife up right this moment feels like an excellent idea.
“How do you know she's my wife? Maybe we are just partners.” The glass of wine returns to her hand, and you have to admit that it suits her.
“Your ring. Both of you have matching ones, yours was corrected into a smaller size, family heirloom I assume.” Wanda looks like she waits for you to continue, so you do.
“It's 2 different kinds of gold. The original one is warmer, more coppery and less yellow in tone, it's called Hamilton Gold. When you had it resized, they used a different kind of gold for soldering.” For a second, she looks down at her own hand, and she doesn't look back up at you before taking another sip of her wine. When her eyes meet yours, the only thing you can read in them is amazement.
“Oh, don't look at me like that. I have hobbies.”
“It's surprising that you have time for hobbies. You know, with your schedule.”
“Careful, you’re making it sound like you think you actually know me.” It seems like on every corner of the conversations you have something new for her. You are brutally honest, sarcastic, even rude sometimes and too stubborn for her liking.
“You don't like me, do you?” Before you have a chance to even think about an answer, your conversation is interrupted by the other redhead.
“Hi rodnaya. Sorry it took so long. I just need a glass of water, and then we can go.” Natasha comes up to her wife and kisses her on the cheek. Wanda smiles at that immediately, and you are trying to read them. They seem happy, what would they even look for anything else, are they playing a part in front of you? Or maybe they are just bored in life? You take in the view in front of you. Wanda's lips are even more stained than before, and it seems like Natasha got an imprint of that from her kiss. Just a second ago, you were just as close with her wife, it doesn't feel right. A shiver goes down your spine, but you decide to have this mental fight later. Natasha is a little bit taller than Wanda. Their eyes are similar in colour but have completely different natures. It reminds you of a lake and the ocean, both blue but at the same time totally different. Their hair colour is also different, and Nat’s hair is shorter than her wife’s. As you take your eyes off of their faces, you realize that her outfit that was so well put together before, is absolutely ruined. Her shirt is wrinkled, you are pretty sure that her fly is open, and her pants seem to have been put on in a hurry. You thought about possible reasons for it and, God, you wish you didn't. Maria likes to have fun, and she for sure wouldn't pass on this kind of opportunity. Before creating unwanted images in your head, Wanda’s voice takes you out of your thoughts.
“Oh, don't worry, I had a glass of wine and amazing company.” By the last bit, they are both looking at you. It's two versus one, and you don't like those odds.
“Well, I'm glad you did. Thank you, y/n, for taking care of my girl.”
“No worries, there are just a hundred other things I would rather be doing.” It's late, you are tired, and low on blood. These are perfect conditions for bitchiness. Luckily, they are not asking more and not picking up the topic. As Wanda finishes her wine and sends a fast text on her phone, you are getting ready to go back to bed. You are stopped in your tracks by a hand reaching into your direction.
“Here. If you ever have more gold fun facts or feel the need to talk about our lord and saviour, call us.” A nicely printed business card contains Wanda’s and Natasha’s names, followed by two phone numbers. You look at her with a fake, softish smile.
“I’ll call you, if I ever need a lawyer. Thank you.” You nod at her and Natasha and while feeling their eyes on you, you throw the card into the bin. Your methods might be a little brutal, but they never fail when it comes to people leaving you alone. You expect them to look disappointed, maybe even mad. Some little comment about how disrespectful you are, a much too loud scoff, precisely loud for you to hear. You can't read them, and it's infuriating, you don't feel safe. Wanda smiles at you, showing a little dimple on her left side. She hands something to her wife and as Natasha takes it from her hand she sends you a smirk and puts another business card down on the counter.  The sound of closing doors makes all of you turn into the direction of Darcy's room. Carol looks like she was almost asleep, being woken up at an ungodly hour.
“I got your text, are you guys ready?” The question is thrown in the general direction of the living room. The two redheads are on their feet immediately collecting their belongings. Carol looks at you and sends you a warm smile.
“You look better y/n. Keep your nose bleeds in check, Darcy is really worried about you.”
“Aye, aye captain.” Since your best friend told you about her partner's favourite title, you have been smoothly using it to throw Carol off. It seems to work, as she always puts her hands into fists, taking a couple of deep breaths.
“It was lovely to meet you, y/n.” Wanda is sweet in her voice, still having this curious look while studying your face.
“It really was. See you around, sugar.” Natasha is more cocky, and it doesn't look as good on her as she thinks.
As the apartment loosen up and gets more quiet, you want to take a couple extra minutes to unwind after everything, just sitting on the couch and taking in the view from the big windows.
“You’re still awake.” Darcy is up, and she is the only person whose presence you don't mind right now, or ever.
“Yeah, you know how naps work on me. I thought you were asleep.” She sits next to you and steals your mug. Taking a long sip of lightly warm tea, she puts her head on your rough shoulder. You adjust your body to make it more comfortable for the both of you.
“I almost was, but Carol has some meetings in the morning, and she had to go.” You only nod in understanding, and the room is filled by comfortable silence. This is something that you were only able to build up with Darcy. Complete trust towards each other and the whole truth between the two of you, without actually having to say a word. It takes time, and effort, but you are always willing to put in more, but it doesn't mean that you don't fight.
''What do you think about what happened?'' Her question takes you by surprise and only after giving it a couple of seconds thought, do you get what she is asking about.
“You didn't tell me that the date was with two women.”
“Does it matter?”
“It would if I had to take them out. You know, they could always turn out as some creeps.”
“They aren’t.” Darcy sounds serious, and it throws you off a little bit. These kinds of topics work as a dynamite on both of you. Just a little spark to set off an explosion. You don't agree with each other on a lot of levels, but usually you can find a middle ground. You are not so sure if that's the case right now.
“Why would Maria take money from strangers, though. At some point they will either want to take it back and will try to make her do something for it. Nobody gives this amount without asking for anything back.” It's shady, they are, and you don't like it. You would do everything to protect your friends, they are your family. Knowing that someone has so much power over one of your friends doesn't sit right with you.
''Maybe they just wanted to be nice.'' You roll your eyes. You said what you said, and Darcy can't make you change your mind. It's surprising she is even trying,
“I don’t know… all of it seems a little extreme.” You are confused, for sure, but you also feel some kind of disgust. Letting someone pay just because, it’s …. It's wrong. And then just going to bed with a complete stranger while her wife is in the next room.
“It’s not that extreme.” Darcy tries to reason with you, educate you on unknown topics. You were trying to see things from her side, but it's like talking in different languages.
“Darcy, you are literally wearing a dog collar.” You say while hooking your finger in the metal hoop, tugging at it very lightly. She slaps your hand away and looks offended.
“It's not a dog collar. God y/n. You know it's not about humiliating or degrading someone. It's a matter of ownership, Carol engraved her name on it, and it makes me feel loved beyond reason. She chose me, and she chooses me every single day. My collar shows how much she cares about me, and how proud she is of me. Carol is so happy to have me that she wants to show the rest of the world that I’m all hers, that they can only look but never touch. Tell me how that is degrading.
“This seems like a control freak thing.” You are getting really close to the boundaries right now, you can feel it. She is getting fed up, her head long gone from the space on your shoulder. Her face is shocked by the things you say. It's not going too well.
“Talking about it is one thing, but talking shit about my girlfriend is not acceptable. You've known Carol all this time… Did she ever come across as a control freak? Also, have you ever noticed her ring?” You think for a second, trying to recall the image of it in your head.
“The silver one she never takes off? I swear to god she showers, sleeps, and works with this thing on.”
“It has an engraving on the inside of it. A sign that she belongs to me just as much as I belong to her. Don’t speak up about things you know shit about.” At this point, she is standing up in front of you, and you feel trapped. Abandoning the conversation seems like the best decision at this moment, you are just too deep into it, and you don't know how to save yourself. You never meant to insult your friends.
“Okay, let's leave you and Carol for a second. What about Maria, God I would die for her, but she wants to be under somebody so much. Provide for her, tell her what to do, what to say, what to wear, who to be. This is not normal.” You really do love her, but you simply don't understand. If that were you, you would do everything to make it stop.
“Let’s not leave Carol and me. I want the same things from Carol, I'm getting the same things from Carol. Am I not normal?” You can see tears forming in her eyes. It's rare for you two to make each other cry, but every time you do, it's like hell visiting earth. You stand up to be with her on the same level, and as you do, you realise it's a mistake. Your mouth seems to work faster than your brain, and you wish you never said out loud the things you are about to say.
“Fuck sorry Darcy but it's sick. Making yourself barely exist for someone's pleasure. If you are too scared to live your life, just say so. I love you, but the fact that you chose the easy way doesn't mean I need to approve of it. I love you Darcy, so much, the last thing I want and have time for is arguing with you right now. I don't think we are going to find middle ground here”. If the looks could kill, you would be dead right there and then. She balls her hand into a fist, but you stand your ground. She moves towards you, you feel her hot breath on your face, nostril flare up, and her eyes filled to the brim with sadness, threatening to spill.
She puts a finger on your chest with surprising force, but you still didn't move. You feel smaller under her gaze, not really sure why. Her next words proved what kind of power she has in your life.
“Sick? There is no middle ground in this. You are just wrong, so, so wrong about all of this. God, how can you be so fucking blind? You are not better than any of us, just because you decide to be lonely with your struggles. Grow up, because I want my fucking friend back, and until you do, don't talk to me.”
That's it. She just stormed off to her room, leaving you in heavy silence. You’ve had arguments before, but you never said out loud what you actually think about the style of relationships your friends are living or want to live in. You should have kept your mouth shut. Mentally scolding yourself, you finish your tea and decide to try to fall asleep. Today was too long, and you wish none of it ever happened at all.

Summary: Natasha's daughter gets kidnapped by one of her rival gangs.
Part 2
Natasha always took pride in the fact that she could keep a cool temper in an emergency thanks to her upbringing and past, otherwise, she couldn't have become the head of one the biggest mobs in the world.
Everyone knew her and everyone feared her. With time, Natasha had gained for herself the nickname of "Black Widow" because no man, no matter how strong he was, survived her in a fight.
She was cold, calculated, and fearless for the outside world. Except that there was only one weakness she had: You. Natasha's daughter who unexpectedly arrived in her life after she lost all hope of ever having a child of her own. Your birth had been a true miracle and Natasha promised to be the best mother for you. A promise she never, not once, broke and she wasn't planning on ever doing it.
For the outside world and her enemies, nothing could scare Natasha.
But when you were kidnapped by one of the rival gangs she couldn't get a word out of her mouth.
She sent Happy, her most trusted driver and good friend, to pick you up from a playdate with your cousins, Clint's kids.
Happy was driving back to your secret house, listening to your story of how much you had fun, when a car blocked his way, forcing him to stop the car in order to avoid a crash.
Armed men surrounded the car, knocked Happy unconscious, and took you.
When the badass woman who happens to be your mom heard that, her brain stopped working for a few minutes.
No one had ever seen Natasha at a loss of words until now and it shocked everyone.
Steve, her right-hand man, and very close friend, had to take the initiative and give orders to the others.
After Natasha went through every scenario in her head, she pulled herself together enough to bark some orders and ask for some favors.
She managed to get Tony Stark, another close friend and business partner to work with the police, she sent every man in the field, and she asked Fury, her mentor who had been like a father to her ever since he rescued her and saved her life years ago, to send more people undercover in the other gangs which he agreed instantly and finally, she needed some comfort and asked Pepper Potts and Maria Hill for advice, two of the few women she trusted.
You are the baby she always wanted, but thought she could never have. She thought that the ability to have children was stolen from her when she was still a child during a gang fight.
The one where she lost her parents.
But then, she somehow managed to get pregnant by a miracle with you, her baby girl, and her entire life changed for the better.
Six hours later after searching with no luck, Natasha found herself desperate and in a room with the only two women that could help her clear her mind and worries because she felt like she was about to go mad with each minute that passed and you were not with her.
"We have to find out which gang has her. Any ideas?" Maria was nervously pacing around the room
"She's okay, Nat. You'll see. We'll find her in no time." Pepper ran her hand up and down Natasha's back
"Why her?" Natasha shouted with her head in her hands, allowing herself to sound vulnerable in the company of her two female friends "She's only three years old. My little girl is still a baby. What if they did something to her? What if she's hurt?"
She was getting more and more frustrated and desperate.
Just then her phone beeped.
The redhead unlocked the screen and saw a message from an unknown number.
Inside was a video from the enemies and she didn't waste a second in playing it.
~~~~~
The camera was pointed to the ground when a man began to talk.
"Hello, Natalia." A deep voice laughed sarcastically "Did you miss us?"
Natasha clenched her teeth so hard that her jaw could snap any second.
"It doesn't matter." The man continued "I think we have something you want back... Take a look."
The camera shifted and focused on a little form sleeping on a metal table.
Natasha instantly recognized her child and her heart tightened in her chest.
"That's right, Natalia. We have your precious daughter in our hands. Your little angel... Isn't that what you call her?... Really looks like an angel. It would be such a shame to actually become one. Don't you think? But don't worry. We will make it quick. Even if she has to be the one that pays for your sins, she's still young. Too young to understand that her mother's mistakes are going to end her very, very short life."
A tear escaped Natasha's eyes and she quickly wiped it focusing on every detail she could see.
"Even if you don't deserve it, we will be merciful enough to send you her tiny body, so you can beat yourself even more over the fact that your actions killed your own daughter. Until next time."
~~~~~
The screen of the phone went black, as the video came to an end.
Natasha wanted to throw herself on the floor and cry, but she still had time to save you.
"We need to track down the address." Agent Hill took the phone from Natasha's shakey hands
"I know who has her." Natasha shot up on her feet and rushed out the door
"Who?" Maria shouted while running after her
"HYDRA." The leader coldly said
Most certain, she was right. Turns out HYDRA, one of her biggest enemies and the rival mob, took you.
This made your mom's anger take over her and she switched her temper back to the emotionless and cold leader she was known as, reminding her team why she is called the Black Widow.
One hour later, after a lot of guns, fights, punches, and torture, Natasha had already taken down everyone in the base where they held you captive. Making sure not one enemy got out of there alive.
She sent her team to search for you in the building because she was too scared of what she could come across if she searched for you herself.
She kept asking herself, what if she was late? What if they already hurt you? Or worse, killed you? She couldn't bear the thought of you, her whole life, being dead.
"Mama!" An excited high-pitched voice pulled her out of her thoughts
She looked up from the ground in disbelief, only to see you running as fast as you could to her with open arms. As fast as your little feet could carry you.
She dropped to her knees and you jumped in her arms, wrapping your tiny hands around her neck, snuggling closer to her chest.
The men that were with her had to turn away from the sight.
One, they were about to cry and two, Natasha was already crying like a baby. No one had seen the woman cry before, so no one dared to annoy her with this fact. But indeed Natasha's crying was a big shock for the others.
"Oh, my angel..." She cried, tightening the embrace
She pulled away to look you over for any injuries. Scanning your little body from your head to your toes, gently lifting your arms to check there too.
"Are you okay, love? Did they hurt you?" She looked with tear-filled eyes at you while stroking your hair and moving your head from left to right to make sure you had no wound on your face or head
"No, Mama. I'm fine." You giggled, happy to be in her arms again
"I was so scared that something bad happened to you." She pulled you in her arms again
"I wasn't scared, Mama. I was a brave girl. You know why?" You innocently questioned your mother
"Why?" She sniffed
"Because I knew you would come and get me back home. You always come and get me." You squealed with delight that you were right, making Natasha laugh wholeheartedly
"I always will, baby girl... I always will..." Your mom kissed the side of your head "Let's go home now. Shall we?"
With a happy nod from your side, you guys made your way back to your safe house.
Never once, did Natasha let you down from her arms and you ended up sleeping in her arms that night.
Natasha spent the whole night watching over you, afraid that something might happen to you if she took her eyes off of you or fell asleep.
Since then Natasha increased your security and you would only go out if she was with you. You weren't complaining and your mom rest assured because you are safe and protected with her.
She'll always protect you. She'll always come and get you. She'll always try her best to make you happy. That is a vow Natasha made to you, but most importantly to herself.
You were Mama's precious little angel after all.

May found solace when being with friends and family.
She always had.
As she spoke to Ned Leeds' parents, Dulce and Nina, and MJ's mother, Louise, she felt the grief die down just a little. It wasn't gone by any means, but at least it was manageable.
Tumblr media
(Pretend This is ned's Filipina moms, Dulce and Nina, up to you which one is who.) "It'll be lonely without her." Nina was saying with a downcast look. "She loved our cooking."
Dulce smiled sadly and put an arm around her shoulders. "She did. She always looked out for Ned, too."
"She loved those boys."
Louise nodded in agreement. "She helped out in the cafe as well. I'd have been lost without her."
Tumblr media
(yes this is Hallie Berry as Louise Jones. M.J's mom) "She did?" May asked.
"All the time. If Michelle got sick or I was too busy then (Y/n) was there in a heartbeat. She donated all she had sometimes to keep the place running."
-
The Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop was a cozy little place.
It was warm and open and Louise took pride in keeping the cafe up to the best standards. It was her childhood dream to own a quaint yet homey place like this and now in adulthood she never wavered from that dream.
You were sitting at the counter with a steaming mug of warm coffee and the famous quiche from the menu. It was one of the very rare days where you didn't have to be at SHIELD or take care of the kids and so you took the day for yourself to simply relax. You enjoyed the atmosphere of the cafe and had become quickly acquainted with Louise due to how often you were there.
So when you noticed Louise stressing out after receiving what looked like a troubling phone call, you were understandably concerned. "Is everything okay?" You asked softly.
Louise shook her head as she put down her phone. "It's my mom."
"What happened?"
"She had a fall again."
"Oh, God. Is she okay?"
"They think so. An ambulance was called and she's in the hospital for scans. I can't leave her there but I can't take Michelle either. And with the hospital bills these days, I'd have to sell this place just to pay half!"
"Hey, it's okay." You quickly set down your mug and stood from your stool to walk over. "I'll help. Name anything, I'll do it."
Louise sighed. "Ellen, I couldn't ask you to do that."
"I'm offering. I know it can't be easy running this place and being a mom at the same time so please. I'll take care of MJ, I'll take over here for a bit, I'll even contribute with the bills. I don't want you struggling if I can help."
"You're too good for this world, you know that?"
"Trust me, I'm not. I'm just a good friend."
"I don't want to put you out."
"You wouldn't, I promise. Just go see your mom now and I'll cook for MJ when she finishes school. I'll bring Ned and Peter too."
Louise considered you for a moment before ultimately nodding. "Thank you, Ellen."
"Of course."
-
Louise smiled as she remembered particular moments such as that.
"She was too good." She said.
Dulce nodded in agreement and then looked to the swing set on the far side of the grounds where the kids were sitting. Ned and MJ were comforting Peter as he cried.
"Poor boy." She said. "I can't imagine how he feels. Losing his parents and then (Y/n)."
May looked over as well with a pained gaze. "He always wanted a sister. For days all we could hear was his crying. We never realized how much he loved her."
"What's happening to her apartment?" Nina asked. "I'm sure you have so many memories there. Will it be sold again after the clear out?"
"Honestly..." May hesitated and shook her head. "I don't know at the moment. I'll have to discuss it with Ben and the landlord. I don't think either of us has the heart to let it go."
"I understand. It can't be easy."
"No. Apparently (Y/n) has a lawyer she talked to about this. We'll see him too I hope."
On cue, Ben appeared. He had previously been talking to some of his friends from work and then Mr. Delmar before Foggy had approached him.
"Hi, honey." He said to May, kissing her cheek softly. "The lawyers are here to talk about (Y/n).”
She didn't reply but did take a very shaky breath and nodded to show she understood. Ben then called for Peter to come over as well.
"Are you sure?" She asked, nervous. "I don't think he's old enough to hear this."
"I know." He assured her. "It's just for a little while, in case she left something for him."
"We could just have the lawyers call us."
"They're here now so we might as well deal with it while we can. I'm sorry."
She sighed, then nodded again. "Okay. I guess so." Once Peter came over, they parted ways with Dulce, Nina, and Louise and joined Foggy who greeted them with a sheepish 'hi' and his condolences. He led them over to where a group of people stood.
"They're here." Agent Hill called.
Soon enough, the Parkers were officially introduced to Tony.
"This is May and Ben Parker." Hill explained. "And their nephew, Peter."
After simple greetings were exchanged, Matt also introduced himself.
"I know this is a hard and trying time and I'm sorry to have to discuss this now, but there are a series of requests that (Y/n) had if she were to die. There's an office inside the cathedral we can talk in."
Tony took a moment to let everything sink in. However, as he went to talk, he noticed Harley again. The boy looked as if he was trying to sneak away.
"Give me a minute." He told the others, disappearing instantly.
Harley seemed as if he was trying to hail down a taxi, and he was attempting to be subtle about it. It didn't work.
Tony crossed the cemetery grounds, his hands shoved in his pockets as he avoided the eyes of the onlookers. It was easier than having to force a smile or muster up yet another thanks for their condolences. Harley was still trying to catch the eye of a taxi driver as Tony stopped behind his old friend.
"Well, well, well." He spoke up, surprising the boy. "Hello again."
Harley froze in surprise and whirled around. "I'm not here."
Tumblr media
(idk if he was 11 here so just pretend he is) Tony raised a brow. "Unless I've hit the blind age in the last minute, yeah, you are."
He looked down, not knowing what to say.
"I know what you're doing." Tony told him.
Harley seemed like he wanted to argue but ultimately backed away from the road as he raised his head again.
"Don't tell my mom." He mumbled.
Tony walked over, managing a small but genuine smile. It was one of the only few he could muster up that day. "And what would I not be telling her?" He teased.
"You know..." Harley trailed off for a moment. "That I snuck all the way to New York to go to a funeral."
"Alone?"
"Yeah. Alone."
"What are you now, like... Ten?"
Harley frowned. "Eleven and a half."
He sighed. "Jesus, kid."
Tony then glanced over to where everyone else was still waiting for him to return. He looked back at Harley.
"Stick around for a little bit, alright?" He asked. "We'll catch up later and you can tell me how that potato gun's going."
With a sad but subtle and excited smile, the boy nodded. "Okay."
"Good one. I'll see you later."
He put a hand on Harley's shoulder and gave it a light and comforting squeeze. Then he turned around and headed back to everyone else.
"Everything okay?" Pepper asked once he came back.
Tony nodded. "Yeah. Just an old friend."
"That boy?" Roberta questioned.
"Yeah, long story. Actually, can you keep an eye on him?"
"Of course, dear. What's his name?"
"Harley Keener." He nodded in thanks. "He's a good kid."
She smiled. "I'm sure he is."
As this took place, some others were having a discussion over another grave.
Fury's one.
Steve and Sam were reminiscing on the fall of the Triskelion and how the aftermath and cleanup was going.
"So, you've experienced this sort of thing before." The real Fury spoke up, appearing beside them.
"You get used to it." Steve confessed.
He nodded in agreement. "We've been data mining HYDRA's files. Looks like a lot of rats didn't go down with the ship. I'm headed to Europe tonight. I wanted to ask if you'd come."
He hesitated, still looking down at the grave. "There's something I gotta do first."
"How about you, Wilson? Could use a man with your abilities."
Sam also thought about it for a few moments. "I'm more of a soldier than a spy."
Again, Fury nodded, shaking both their hands. "Alright, then. Anybody asks for me, tell them they can find me. Right here."
He motioned to the grave.
"You should be honored." Natasha spoke up, joining them. "That's about as close as he gets to saying thank you."
"Not going with him?" Steve asked.
"Nope."
"Not staying here?"
"Nah. I blew all my covers. Gotta go figure out a new one."
"That might take a while."
"I'm counting on it." She gave him a smile before showing a file she had tucked away in her jacket. "That thing you asked for. I called in a few favors from Kiev."
She handed Steve the file as the others watched. It was a very old collection of notes and personal entries from long ago, and, hopefully, it would allow him to find his long lost best friend.
"Will you do me a favor?" Natasha asked, causing him to look up. "Call that nurse."
Steve scoffed in amusement. "She's not a nurse."
"And you're not a SHIELD agent."
He looked down, knowing it was very true. "What was her name again?"
"Sharon. She's nice."
Then, with a loving smile, she kissed his cheek softly. Steve also smiled at the gesture before he looked down at the file in his hand again.
"Steve." Natasha said. "Be careful. You might not want to pull on that thread."
"You're going after him." Sam stated, noticing the file also.
"You don't have to come with me." Steve said.
Tumblr media
"I know. When do we start?"
"Before you go-" Fury chimed in, drawing their attention. "You might wanna stay behind until after Stark is done with (Y/n)'s lawyer."
Steve looked at him, curious. "Why?"
"Because she didn't just leave something to her father, she left something to the whole team as well."
They each shared a look.
"Now I best be off." Fury continued. "I think you should tell the others."
"We will." Natasha said.

In the private office inside the cathedral, your last will and testament was finally being told.
Tony, Pepper, Happy, and Rhodey were sitting on one side of a table with the Parkers on the other side and Matt and Foggy at the head of it.
Tumblr media
Hill was waiting outside with Roberta and Harley. "Now that we're all here..." Matt began. "Mr. Stark, (Y/n) wanted you to know that the Parkers were the family she was assigned to watch over. She always spoke fondly and said family comes in all forms and that you're always allowed more than just one in your life. She thought of both of you as her family."
Tony watched the Parkers curiously, thinking back on seeing them earlier. He had suspected right from the start that it could have been them solely because they were some of the most heartbroken looking people in attendance.
He looked at the boy again. Peter.
He was shy and nervous, hiding behind his aunt and uncle and only occasionally peering out at everyone else.
"(Y/n) also told me that she didn't want Peter to sit through this longer than he needed to." Matt added. "She was worried he was a bit young for it all."
May nodded in understanding. "She left something for him in particular then?"
"Yes, she did."
He nodded to Foggy who took a small and square neatly-wrapped box from his bag. With a friendly smile he offered the gift to Peter.
"It's okay." Ben told him, encouraging his nephew to accept it. "It's a present from (Y/n)."
Everyone watched curiously as Peter gingerly took the box into his own hands.
"What is it?" He mumbled.
"(Y/n) said it was something you always wanted." Foggy explained. "It took her a while to configure but she said it would be worth it to make you happy."
Peter sniffled as he found a part of the wrapped box to tear. He was careful, as if handling glass, and hesitated with each movement until finally he could open it.
Inside, on a velvet cushion, was a watch.
It looked fancy, the color scheme black and red, with a shining face that gleamed in the light. Peter stared long and hard as his bottom lip trembled.
The others waited with bated breath for him to tenderly place the watch around his wrist. His hands trembled too much for him to do the strap and so Ben helped him with it. Then, as it was secured around Peter's arm, the face of the watch began to glow.
Tumblr media
(Just ignore the Hairy arm) A pale blue hologram shot up from the face of the watch, catching everyone with the glow. Much to their surprise, a female voice came from the hologram.
"Hello, Peter Parker. My name is Karen. I am the natural-language user interface created by Ellen Campbell, otherwise known as Miss (Y/n) Stark. I was designed to work alongside and aid you in your everyday duties."
Peter gasped in surprise alongside May.
"W-What is that?" She questioned. "I don't... What's a user interface?"
"It's... Some kind of hologram?" Foggy guessed, not knowing what it was either. "A video?"
"An AI." Tony stated, gazing at 'Karen' in genuine awe. "She made her own AI. That's... Amazing."
-
It was over a year ago now that Peter had discovered who you really were.
He had been dropped off at the apartment building by Ned's moms after school and was heading straight to your place since May and Ben were attending a party at the hospital May worked at. It was adults only so you had volunteered to watch over him immediately, and it wasn't like he was ever going to say no to an evening with his honorary big sister.
When you didn't answer the door right away he simply found the spare key and let himself in since he knew where it was.
"Ellen?" He called out.
The apartment was silent.
He frowned and dropped his bag, continuing to call out your name for a minute before finally someone responded. Only, it wasn't you. It was another voice entirely.
"Good evening, Peter." The voice didn't seem to have a source. "I am glad you got to Miss (Y/n) Stark's residence safely."
Peter stared with bulging eyes as he spun around wildly in an attempt to locate a person.
"W-Where are you?" He asked fearfully. "How do you know Ellen's name?"
"Forgive me, Peter. I did not mean to scare you. My name is FRIDAY. Miss created me to be her artificial intelligence service."
"What? That means... Ellen... Made you?"
"She did."
After this processed, he calmed a little, reassured by the explanation. After all, something made by you wouldn't hurt him.
"Are you alright?" FRIDAY asked. "You appear to have elevated breathing and heart spikes."
Peter found himself staring at the ceiling as he talked. "I'm okay. It's just really cool."
"Me?"
"Yeah! I mean, (Y/n) - Ellen - she has her own AI?"
"Miss is very talented."
"She's awesome!" He grinned. "How did she do it? Do you have a code? Are you portable or just for the apartment? How long did it take?"
"I am sure Miss Stark will explain everything." She replied.
"Oh! Yeah. Sorry. Where is she, by the way?"
"I am afraid she is stuck in traffic. She said, and I quote, 'This goddamn traffic is killing me. Get your douche canoe out of my lane before I kick your ass into next year, you twit-womble.'"
Peter burst out into giggles at that. Not only because it was definitely a thing you'd say, but because the flat tone of FRIDAY's voice somehow made it even funnier.
"A delay of fifty-two minutes is expected." She added.
Peter composed himself, but was admittedly dejected because of the update. It would be boring without you.
"Did she say anything else?" He asked.
"Miss did mention she would bring your favorite pizza and finish the keyboard project to make up for her delay."
He smiled at that.
He then proceeded to spend the next hour of waiting chatting away to FRIDAY and asking all sorts of questions as he worked on his homework for the weekend.
As soon as he heard the lock click he sprung to his feet with a toothy grin plastered on his face.
"Ellen!"
You barely had time to close the door behind you before he barrelled into you at top speed with a tight hug. You couldn't help but laugh, holding a warm pizza box in one hand and your work bag in the other.
"Hey, kiddo." You chuckled, dropping the work bag on the floor so you could ruffle his hair. "How've you been?"
"Alive." Peter shrugged. "I really missed you, though."
"I missed you too, Pete."
He stepped back and noticed the pizza, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. You playfully rolled your eyes and handed him the box which was thrown open in seconds.
"Am I forgiven?" You asked with a laugh.
Peter, already with a mouthful, nodded enthusiastically. "Always!"
You smiled and sat next to him on the couch. "Sorry about the traffic. Things were hectic."
"I get it. Too many douche canoes out there, huh?"
Your eyes widened. "What?"
He smirked. "I got your voice message from FRIDAY."
"Oh... Oh! Right, uh... Don't tell your aunt and uncle. I'm on thin ice after the pool incident."
"I promise. As long as I get free pizza for life."
"Sure thing. Anything for you." You relaxed in the seat. "So you met FRIDAY?"
He nodded. "She's super cool. She said you created her years ago."
"I did."
"No way! How?"
"Weeks of insomnia, rock music classics, and a whole lotta free time."
"Can you make me one?"
You playfully shrugged. "I don't know."
He pouted, putting the pizza box down to grab your arm with both hands.
"Please." He begged, shaking your arm several times. "I'll be so good! I'll clean the apartment, I'll bake you cookies, I'll make you something too! Anything!"
You laughed as he started listing all the possible chores he could think of.
"Relax, child." You said. "I'll see what I can do."
His entire face lit up.
"Thank you!" He threw himself at you in another hug. "I love you so much, Ellen!"
You held him close and kissed the top of his head. "I love you too, Pete."
-
"Miss Stark wanted me to assist you with whatever you may require." Karen explained.
Peter, shaken from the memory, tried desperately not to start crying again. He couldn't believe that even after all you dealt with in your life, both as Ellen and as (Y/n), that you still found the time to make him something he asked for over a year ago. He wished he could thank you in person.
"I hope we can be friends." He said after mustering the courage to talk again.
"I'm sure we will." She replied. "Miss Stark made sure we were compatible as friends were she to have to leave."
It was horrible to have to see such a young kid mourn the loss of someone who clearly meant the world to him. It was hitting Tony particularly hard. He didn't even know the kid and yet the thought of you making such an important gift for him just showed how much you loved Peter. Because of this, he couldn't help but feel as if he had to know him, to understand what it was like being so close to you.
If this was just the first gift, he couldn't help but wonder what else lay in store.
-
A little while later, Peter had been sent out of the room to stay with Roberta and the others while the rest of the will was read and the mementos given out.
"(Y/n) left a message." Matt explained near the end. "In the case of her death she wanted to leave something personal, to tell her family what we can't."
Foggy had placed a laptop on the table by now and positioned it so everyone could see. Right away the screen showed an image of you sitting in a very big and comfy looking chair with a warm smile.
The mixed feelings could be seen all over in the room. Tony reached for Pepper's hand, scared to hear your voice again, to hear what you had to say to him.
"Everyone ready?" Foggy asked.
A few more mixed looks were exchanged but ultimately each person nodded. With this permission, he pressed play.
"Hi, everyone." You greeted.
Immediately the nerves could be heard in your tone. You were scared, or worried, yet it was clear you wanted to appear casual and collected.
"This must be weird, huh? I'm pretty sure you'll only see this if I, uh... Well, if I kick the bucket." You paused, yet forced out another smile. "I mean, that's the plan anyway. If I do happen to be on the highway to hell or stairway to heaven, then I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you're probably sitting there watching this as part of the will I'm writing. Who's shocked, really? After all, us Starks don't tend to get a long life span."
There were sad smiles around the room as you attempted the joke.
"I'm alive for now, at least. I hired lawyers ahead of time because... I don't really know... Just because. I want everything planned. After all, who knows how they're going to die? I could try the cool thing and sacrifice myself. I could be in a car accident. I could even slip on the stairs. You just never know until it's time. Maybe the threat from all those years ago will finally follow through and I'll be assassinated." You tried to smile again but it didn't work that time. "Sorry to keep joking. I think that's another Stark thing. Humor to protect against fear."
You sighed, taking a slow breath.
"I am scared, I won't lie. But not of death. I'm scared to lose you. Dad, Pepper, Happy, Uncle Rhodey... Ben, May, and Peter. You've all changed my life in some way and I think in the end I'm better off for it. I'm glad my two families get to meet each other. I'm sorry that Peter can't stay for this but he's just a kid and I can't put him through this kind of thing again. He's suffered enough. I hope he likes Karen."
There was a silence.
"Uncle Ben, Aunt May." You closed your eyes for a moment. "I love you both so much. I'm leaving you my SHIELD salary. All I saved up, it's yours. Every 60k note."
The couple were shocked and shared a stunned look. Tony and the others were also quite surprised, mostly because of how generous it was and just how much it was to give away.
"Of course she did." May whispered.
"We can't." Ben said. "We can't take that."
As if you were actually in the room, you began talking again.
"I know, I know." You chuckled. "I know you're going to say you can't take it or it's too much or something like that. But please, for me. You're amazing people and I want you to have it, and I want Peter to have it. Send him to MIT. It's where he's always wanted to go. And I'm sorry that I didn't tell you who I was, May."
You sighed.
"There's a lot of reasons, but mostly because I wanted to protect you. You loved me like a mother and I was so scared I'd lose you if you knew the truth. Fury also made the call, and I respected it. You didn't ask, so I didn't tell. I'm so sorry. I'm glad we had some good times, though. Cooking dinner for Ben and Peter was always my favorite thing to do with you. And thank you, Ben, for knowing who I am and keeping my secret. I can never thank you enough for everything you did for me. You might have been ordered to accept me, but I like to think I was genuinely loveable"
Ben and May both smiled sadly. Then there was a pause, and you looked down at the ground.
"Thanks for letting me look after Peter, by the way. I know it can't have been easy letting a stranger into your lives and trusting me with your nephew, but you did. I was vulnerable back then and I guess part of me still is with everything that's happening, but your family was the best gift I ever got. I'm just a normal person with you, and that's a feeling I love."
By the end of the dedication, May could feel tears brimming her eyes. She turned to her husband and leaned into his embrace as Ben watched the rest of the video sadly. Pepper, Rhodey, and Happy watched the Parkers both with curiosity and gratitude. They had each missed you dearly but knowing you were so looked after by loving people was a kind of solace for them.
Tony couldn't say the same. He was also grateful, that much was true, but he couldn't help but feel jealous. He was supposed to protect you, you weren't supposed to be forced into the care of strangers. Still, he was hoping he could talk to them after everything to see if they could help him understand what you were like.
"Now comes the real tear-jerker." You spoke up again, drawing everyone's attention back to the video. "Pepper, Happy, Rhodey... And Dad. I have so much to say but no one to hear it and that's the worst part of all this hiding. Still, talking to a camera is easy compared to everything else, I gotta admit. It's been so many years now... Six, I think? I've lost count. The days all sort of merge into one eventually. But the least you deserve to know is that I never stopped missing everyone. Every day I thought about you and what could happen if I came back. I just... I never found the will to make it happen."
You looked up again and your eyes sparkled with emotion. You spoke so softly that your voice was almost incomprehensible.
"Uncle Rhodey... You were my best friend growing up. You and Mama Rhodes were just... Amazing. Incredible. Thanks for looking out for me, from dropping me off on the first day of school and picking me up on the last, even though you had all those military duties going on. You're a good guy, and you deserve something pretty damn awesome for everything you did. So I'm leaving you my car."
You finally managed another smile.
"I hope it's still around when I'm gone, anyway. I don't know if it'll survive and I guess that would make this pretty disappointing, huh? But no, it's a good car. Reliable. I've got faith it's still going strong. Agent Coulson actually gave it to me on my 18th birthday. Look after it, alright? And, spoilers, it can fly." You dramatically paused, grinning a little. "Was that gasps of awe I just heard? It's true, though. Trust me on that. So, yeah, pretty cool. Thanks for everything, Rhodey."
Tony and Pepper shared a look. Not only were you a celebrated engineer and SHIELD confidant, you also had a flying car? What else had happened while you were on the run?
Rhodey was trying his hardest not to let tears fall. He couldn't speak, and, even if it was just a recording, he nodded to the screen in promise to look after the car.
"Happy, you're next." You then said, jokingly adding a haunting tone to your voice. "Although you were there for my dad, you also never wavered from protecting me too. Thanks for that. When my dad was busy with work stuff or other people couldn't make it, you looked after me. I also want to say thanks for not telling anyone about my hospital visit. It's okay now because everyone knows the truth, but you made good on the promise and I appreciate it. So don't beat yourself up or think my death is your fault in any way because I swear it isn't."
Your smile slowly dropped and you became more serious.
"Keep on living, Happy. Protect my dad, protect Pepper, and look out for yourself as well, okay? That's important. Don't retire, though. I can totally imagine you still kicking ass when you're one hundred. Maybe find a girlfriend, though. You're my family and I want you happy, just like your name. Promise me that." Happy looked down at his hands, thinking on your words carefully. Was it okay to feel relief that you really didn't blame him for anything? Was it okay to feel some margin of peace knowing you could never feel animosity towards him for keeping quiet? He did crack a smile thinking about how you wanted him to get a girlfriend, though.
"Pepper." You said, moving on. "I don't have words. I miss you so much. So much. Whether you intended it or not, you were the mom I never got. You looked after me like one and I'll never forget it. I think that when I get sad I'm reminded of our happiest moments, like you comforting me after I saw my first sad movie, or you putting up my first A+ grade on the wall. I'm proud that you're CEO now, and that you've got a good relationship going with my dad. I'm rooting for you."
There was a pause.
"I'm gonna leave my apartment to you." You explained. "I've lived there for years now, and it's got a ton of memories that I don't want being lost. I've known you my entire life and I think you're the only one who's going to keep it homey and clean. You and Dad can go there for days off or something, I don't know. You can spend time with Ben and May and Peter if you like, I'm sure you'll like each other. As for the furniture and clothes and stuff, you can donate it all or keep some or whatever you like. I trust you to do what you think is right. Thanks again for being the mom I always wanted."
Pepper closed her eyes, being the only one unafraid to show her tears. She held Tony's hand as she cried and did the same as Rhodey, nodding to the laptop screen as if you were really there. Even if she had all the money in the world and all the material objects she wished for, she would never turn down that apartment. She would look after it with everything she had.
You took a long breath and Tony knew it was now his turn. He wasn't prepared at all and squeezed Pepper's hand for both preparation and comfort.
"Dad." You said.
Your own voice trembled.
"We didn't get the best start, I know. Whether you were too busy or I was too much, I'm not sure. But I'm older and... Sort of mature enough to think better of it all. I grew up angry and alone despite having everyone I needed right there in front of me. I could see everyone, but I was still blind to it. That's on me." You paused to take a shaky breath. "I wish I was different. Maybe we could've got a better start if I tried harder or tried less to get your attention? I don't know. Maybe nothing would change at all."
You sighed.
"Still, I hope I can see you again without the fear of being killed or losing you. There's been times where I've seen you, you know? On the streets, on the news, times where all it took was a reach and we could meet each other again. But I was scared. I've left something for everyone, and now it's your turn. I hope it's a good one. For one, you get my apartment with Pepper."
Tony nodded once to himself, glad but also sad that he was included at least. Even after your last goodbye, he couldn't help thinking you still hated him. Yet knowing you loved him throughout it all hurt, too.
"You also get something else." You added. "Before I lived in the apartment, I had somewhere else that I called home. Even after I joined SHIELD and moved into the city, I kept the place as my own vacation hole. I'm leaving this place to you and the Avengers. It's big enough to serve as a base or just an intelligence building or whatever you want to do with it. Fury and Hill know about it. If they're still around, they'll show you I hope. Keep an eye on it."
You gave them all one final pause.
"Thank you. Everyone. I hope I can have some shred of forgiveness for hiding this whole time. Thanks for everything. I love you.”

Hello! I'm @rebel-author-chick and you are on my bingo OC Creator Bingo card. Your OCs look so cool, I can't wait to learn more about them!
1. How close is William to Pepper and Happy? What about Peter?
2. What does Melissa think of Kirk? Does she take after her dad in personality?
3. Has The Soldier ever come across The Doctor? What do they think of each other?
4. Out of her parents who does Lana take after more?
5. Out of all your OCs, who is your favorite to write for? Which is the hardest to write for?
I know this is LONG passed Bingo, looong overdue, and I apologise for that. However, I still want to give your ask the love and attention it deserves, so here goes me answering all your lovely questions. :)
Happy Hogan is close to both the Stark-Potts kids due to the nature of his relationship with their parents, Pepper and Tony. I would say he has more inside jokes with Morgan who spends a little more time with him, but he loves William just as much. Will, being an introverted ADHDer, chooses to spend most of his time hyperfocused on his projects as he prefers the stimulation he receives from them as opposed to other people. He is also close to Pepper what with her being his mom and all. She makes sure to keep a closer eye on her son to make sure he doesn't forget TOO much of life while holed up with his projects. As Will grows closer towards adulthood, Pepper has had to prod him into the "real" world more and more frequently.
Melissa likes Kirk. For the longest while, she and him had a solid platonic relationship, and she held strongly to the word platonic as that's where she both felt they were best and also where she felt most comfortable with men in general (regarding her ambitions and her personal life matters she was mindful of at the time). Around the end of Into Darkness, however, she and him do get together romantically.
The Soldier has come across the Doctor before and they are surprisingly neutral looking on their fellow kin. Of course, they are glad that they aren't the only Timelord anymore, but they don't feel much of a connection between their mentality/outlooks on the universe's happenings, and they don't judge the difference either. Unlike The Doctor, who does passively wrinkle his nose at The Soldier's tendency to jump in with a fight instinct instead of a figure it out one. When they do have to work together, however, they can flow rather well. There is a string of respect tying between them, and if one needed help, the other would assist.
Lana takes after her mother more in personality. She exhibits Nora's form of practicality and cunning over Ray's, as in she holds herself with an air of individualism and is first and foremost a self-possessed, self-aware person. While of course she cares for other people, Lana thinks of her own needs and wants before that of others.
I have two favourites and can't narrow it down any further. My favourites are Stephen Knope-Wyatt and Jared Williamson. The hardest muse to write for is probably Shiloh, my son of Tyche from the Percy Jackson fandom. He's probably the hardest because I don't really know what kind of story he's best suited for and can't really think up a plot (still) for him.
Thank you for the ask, @rebel-author-chick! Hope you had a great time during Bingo while it was still happening, and sorry again for answering your questions super late.

CHAPTER 2: "Welcome home"
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 2: “Welcome home”
2009-2011
I arrived at stark industries. Pepper was waiting for me at the entrance of the building. Her eyes were red and puffy. “What happened?” I asked while running inside. I grabbed her hands in mine. “I don’t know” I wanted to hold her tighter. But someone interrupted us. “Ms. Potts come take a look” a man in a dark suit approached us.
Pepper nodded and pulled me along with her. People were standing around a monitor. As we got closer I had to find my grip. There he was. His chest was wrapped in bloody bandages It felt like I wasn’t getting any air. “Oh no,” tears were prickling in the corners of my eyes, threatening to spill. I turned around and walked out of the group.
Someone appeared behind me. “What are you gonna do?” I said. “All our men and women are looking for him trying to get him safe” I bit the inside of my cheek and my blood started to boil. “That’s not enough!” I hissed.  “Agent Evans, I assure you we’re doing all we can” Fury tried to calm me down. “You better bring him back alive” I whispered. “Or I swear to God” Fury raised his hands. “If you guys don’t do the job I will go and get him myself!” this time I raised my voice. But no one seemed to notice. “We’ll try everything we can”
***
Days passed by. Pepper and I barely slept. Time went by slowly almost like it wasn’t going at all. People were trying to get me to eat. But I wasn’t hungry. I just wanted him back doing the stupidest stuff. But I was also sure that he could save the world the way he saved me. “Agent Evans” my name came through. Waking me from my haze. “Agent Evans” this time I looked up. “Fury!” I jumped up from my chair. “Do you have news?” I asked my voice almost sounding like I was begging. “We found him” Joy took over me but it was as fast as it came. “Is he-” Fury interrupted me. “He is alive. He’s safe” I was relieved and I felt tears prickling in my eyes.
I looked around. The world started moving again. I felt alive again. “Pepper!” I yelled. I ran up to her and pulled her into a hug. I turned around. I wanted to say thank you but he was in true Fury style.
Everyone and everything started moving and so did I.  “What do we do now?” I said looking at Pepper. She turned her head at the same time.  “Don’t know” I raised my shoulders. “Just wait and see, maybe go set up his house” Pepper nodded. “You go,” she said. “You know his house better than anyone” I frowned. I wanted to stay here. “Okay”
I grabbed my stuff and went back upstairs. On my way out I ran into Happy. “Hello, Mrs. Evans” I smiled. “That’s a name I haven't heard since 1945” Happy looked confused. “Mrs. Evans was my mother” his lips moved into an ‘O’. “My apologies” he knew talking about my parents was a touchy subject. But I felt like I was constantly talking about them. I never got to say goodbye. “Don’t worry, my mom was an amazing person” Happy nodded.
“I have a question” Happy perked up. He looked at me like he was expecting something special. “Yes?” His voice was shaky. “Would you like to come with me to Tony’s house to set everything for his return?” Happy’s shoulders slumped. But he smiled at me. “Yes, of course,” I smiled back and placed my hand on his shoulder. “Thank you”
We went to Tony’s house. Everything was just how he left it the last time I got here. The bottle of whisky we opened weeks ago was still on the kitchen counter. Two glasses were still standing there. The one I drank from was still half full. It made my heart flutter. I remembered that we were arguing about something stupid. I guess it was about what Black Sabbath song was the best or something like that. I just remembered saying that it didn’t matter and that I was 64 years old so what do I know? It made him laugh so hard that he almost snorted the Whisky through his nose. It resulted in me spilling half of my glass on the ground and it was still there. We were so drunk.
I only left this house because I couldn’t handle the memory of his father. Tony remembered him as a horrible human being, and I was praising him here. But every time he’d remind me that Howard is the reason why I’m here and stuck 64 years into the future. He had a point. It became so bad that I started to resent Howard and seeing Tony daily made it worse. At least when I worked for him I knew after the 8 hours of work I put in I’d go home and be alone without him.
Now seeing Tony so low and vulnerable made me not want to leave him anymore. It made me feel protective. I knew it wasn’t my responsibility and trusting a Stark is what got me into this mess in the first place. But I couldn’t help myself. I felt like I was supposed to be here for a reason.
Lucky for me, Happy shook me out of my ongoing thoughts. “So Mrs. Evans what do you want me to do?” he asked. “Maybe check the rooms and living room and clean up some eh... Clothes that aren't supposed to be there” I said awkwardly scratching my head. Happy laughed. “I will”
Tony.
It hurt just to breathe For a while my life was on the line. Thinking about it sent me back into a frenzy. Rhody placed a hand on my shoulder to calm down. “Next time you ride with me” I smiled. “Yeah” I looked out of the airplane window.
There isn’t going to be a next time, I thought to myself.
Ransom.
A few days passed. Tony was still recovering from his wounds. The press was all over him and the new thing in tony’s chest. “He called it an arc reactor. It was supposed to be a mini version of what powered the company. “But is it safe though?” I asked. “God, no. But it keeps me alive” Tony laughed. “But it’s safe with me” I looked him dead in the eye. “Stark and safe don’t go together” I raised an eyebrow and grinned. “Oh stop it I kept you safe” I shook my head smiling. “Whatever you say big guy” Tonny shifted in his seat. “It’s supposed to fire the suit right?” Tony nodded. He sat down and sighed. “What’s wrong?” I took a chair and sat down right in front of him. “Obediah” the name alone made the hairs on my arm stand up. Tony saw my face contort. “You don’t trust him do you?” I shook my head. “There’s something about that man,” I said. “Like that press conference, the panic in his eyes” Tony frowned. “ what do you mean?”
“Well once you were out of your mellow state and announced that you’d stop with the guns he jumped up and pushed you aside.“ Tony raised his eyebrows. “Something is up with the guy” I leaned back and looked up at the ceiling.
Tony was screwing something in the arm of his suit. “Alright, look into it” Tony looked up. “I know you have extra hands somewhere.
And that he notices…

random Descendants headcanons that have been in my brain for so long but I've never really talked about:
Evie can speak a variety of languages; her mother taught her that as a princess she must be able to communicate with anyone.
Gaston has a handful of daughters that he doesn't accept as his own kids. Also, the Gaston twins are Gil's half brothers. (In one fic, the twins' mom is Mother Gothel and Gil's is an OC who was a metalsmith for Hook's crew but that's not really a HC as much as just a world building thing.)
Hans has a son named Hamlet. Hamlet is a Danish prince, Hans is a prince in a movie based off of a Danish fairytale. It makes me laugh.
CJ Hook is a flirt. I have no explanation but she is and it stresses Harriet and Harry out.
Lonnie keeps swords with her at every formal occasion. She was ready to throw down with Maleficent at the coronation and Uma at cotillion if she hadn't been stopped.
Mal explained their plan to steal the wand to Ben after his coronation. He didn't know how to feel at first, but ultimately forgave her and was glad she was honest with him.
Doug also apologized for stalking Evie in D1 and for accusing her of cheating in D2.
In general, people apologize for things they did wrong. Also they all go to therapy. (Chad, however, doesn't properly apologize for things and is overall insufferable, but in an endearing way.)
Chad is a firstborn child and was the only boy for a while, which is why he's Like That™.
Fairy Godmother is the godmother of all of Cinderella's children.
The descendants of anyone who was once under a sleeping spell have some sort of side effect from it. Audrey has night terrors and almost always wakes up with the sun, no matter what time she went to sleep the night before.
Many people that were spelled by villains have problems with fertility, which is why we see people like Philip and sleeping spelled Aurora and Belle and beast cursed Adam with only one child each.
Seaside (Eric's kingdom) makes the best saltwater taffee. I have absolutely no proof behind this but came up with it in like, 2016 and have believed it ever since.
Agrabah loves any reason for a celebration, there's many festivals that occur throughout the year (inspired by the harvest festival in the live action Aladdin)
Persephone visited Hades in the fall and winter after he was put on the Isle, but stopped after the first few years. Enter Maleficent, seeking a political marriage to help enforce her position of queen of the Isle...
Anastasia and the Baker were in a similar situation, except he decided to permanently live on the Isle to be with her 7ish years in.
Most of Anastasia's kids are named after some sort of historical political figure. Anthony for Mark Antony + various OCs. She did this in order to try to get back on Lady Tremaine's good size.
Drizella, on the other hand, had absolutely no rhyme or reason in choosing her kids' names except for the fact that they all start with D.
Evie loves to bake. Everyone in Auradon was very hesitant to try her sweets at first, what with the love spell cookies Ben had and the fact that the daughter of the Evil Queen was offering them apple tarts.
Jane loves anything pumpkin flavored, especially pumpkin spice lattes.
Jay is the first of the core four to learn to drive, and the only one to have his license in D2. Even after the others learn to drive, he still loves taking them places (and they don't complain).
Mal has a high tolerance for spicy food. She once eats an extremely hot pepper on a dare and Audrey tries to prove she's just as good as Mal, she can do the same thing. It does not end well for her.
Carlos connects with the non Isle part of the de Vil family after being encouraged to do so by Roger and Anita. He's cautious at first, but grows to love them.
Lumiere, Plumette/Babette/Fifi/whatever you call her, and Mrs. Potts have all technically retired from their work in the castle, although they do help manage the next generation of maître'ds/maids/housekeepers in Adam's castle. Cogsworth stubbornly holds on to his role as majordomo until Ben becomes king. After the coronation, Chip takes over his role.
Additionally, Mrs. Potts now works in the kitchen at Auradon Prep and is a maternal figure to many of the students there.
The castle's staff were there when the four VKs were first welcomed to Auradon, even though Belle and Adam couldn't make it.
When Uma mentions having coconuts in D3, she ate them in Montuni (Moana's kingdom). Moana meets her but doesn't realize she's the Uma, and they both bond over their shared love for the ocean.
The core four are assigned "punishments" of community service after trying to overthrow the country. Mal is tasked with painting murals around the capital, Jay is assistant coach to a local little league tourney team, Carlos volunteers at an animal shelter, and Evie works in a chemistry lab. Ben feels so wonderfully evil for sneakily connecting them with mentors without them knowing it.

Loving You (Wanda Maximoff/Reader)
Summary : The worst that could ever happen just happened to you.
You were a beta. Being an omega could’ve been better but no, God decided to fuck you up.
In a world, where Alphas and Omegas are considered the best, being a beta meant that you were just going to be an average person. Always in the middle.
People don’t look the same at you. You had potential. At the top of your classes, taking all of the AP Classes. Now, you doubt that even Colleges would consider you.
Ever since, Asami Sato has proven that even Omegas can change the world, people have been considering them as equal to Alphas… but never Betas. When has a Beta ever change the world?
So you shut up and hide from the world as you try to graduate and maybe get a job in your Family’s Company, R Firm.
But a chance encounter with a gorgeous Omega will change everything up.
-
Warnings : Omegaverse. Beta!Reader x Omega!Wanda Maximoff.
-
New series! After a month. College does seem to hate me that much.
You sigh as you trudge the halls of your high school. It was lunch break and almost everyone is in the cafeteria, obviously not you, though. You’ve been reading inside the library when Miss Danvers kicked you out, saying that she needs her lunch break too. You sigh and sit in front of your locker. You open up your book and begin reading.
Reading is one of the only things you could enjoy these days… you still remember the day you got your evaluation test.
-
You tremble as you stare at your test result. You were a beta. Tears spring up in your eyes but you quickly wipe them away. You could hear some people cry and some sniffle. You guess they were betas too.
“Y/LN?” You stop and turn to Janine Rivera, she was one of the juniors. A popular Omega who is in your AP English Class.
“Yes?”
“Do you want to-?” You stop and gulp. Janine cuts off herself and gets your test result. You don’t fight her because it’s better to just rip the band-aid off. She scoffs and shoves the result back to you. “Megan!” Another girl looks at Janine. “Cross off Y/LN! She’s a Beta!” She shouts and everyone quiets down. You take a deep breath and walk off. The murmurs then start. You feel tears again in your eyes and you wipe them away again.
You walk home because inside your school felt so suffocating. People were going home anyway to tell their families their evaluation result. As you stood in front of your house, you feel your stomach cave in. You’re afraid to face your parents. Your Alpha Mother would surely get angry. Even your Omega ma would look at you with disappointment. Your two Alpha sisters would get disgusted. Just imagining their reactions make you cry.
“Y/N?” Your sister, Alsie, gets out of her car and you cry even more. She quickly kneels besides you. “What’s wrong!?” You refuse to answer so she guides you inside. “Ma!?” Your Omega Mother, Dahlia rushes downstairs and gets to you.
“Y/N!? Are you okay?”
“M-ma.” You stutter and cry even more. Your other sister, Valerie, gets downstairs too and fusses over you. You faint and they panic even more.
When you came to your sense, you’re in the living room with your Alpha Mother, Zale, is hovering over you. She sighs in relief and shouts that you’re okay. She was about to leave and you bite your lip as you grab her arm.
“Mom.” You say weakly and Dahlia gives you a glass of water. You sit up and gulp it down in one go.
“What’s wrong, little one?” Zale asks gently and you try not to cry again. God, their gentle affections and kindness, will it go away once you tell them what you really are? That you’re just a Beta and not like them? Will they throw you out? Disown you? You take a deep breath and you look at them.
“I-I” You tremble and put the glass on the coffee table. “I’m a Beta.” You look down and clench your fists, waiting for their reply.
“Oh, Jesus, it was just her evaluation result.” You look up and see as your all of your family collectively sigh in relief.
“Damn it, Y/N, don’t scare us like that.”
“My little sister is a goddamn drama queen, who freaking guessed?” Zale slaps Valerie softly on her arm.
“Why were you so afraid, anak?”
“I thought you guys would get angry and disown me.” You sniffle and Dahlia quickly hushes you and hugs you.
“Y/N, little one, that doesn’t matter to us.”
“Dude, that’s like the least of our concerns.”
“Oh? What matters most then, Val?” Valerie glares at Alsie and look away. “Your potential mate, that girl call-“ Valerie screeches and attacks Alsie who dodges quickly. You laugh at their antics and everyone looks relieved at you. They hug you and you hug them back. Grateful that they accepted you.
-
You were just humming to a song that’s been stuck inside your head when someone calls out.
“Excuse me?” You look up and gulp. The girl looked stunning and words seem to be stuck in your mouth. It felt like everything around you was moving slowly.
“Y-yes?” God, human interaction was not a daily occurrence for you, people tended to avoid you like the plague in School and the house is quieter now that both Zale and Alsie are off to college. Both of your moms never push you to talk about anything and simply bonds with you through food and TV.
“Can you tell me where I would find this classroom?” She pushes the schedule onto you and you hum. You knew the school halls like the back of your hand, it was easier to navigate that way. You felt your heart beat faster as you give it back.
“Yeah. You should take a left there and it should be the fourth room on the right.” You point it out and she nods. She smiles at you and you feel your heart skip a beat.
“Thanks, stranger.” You nod.
“Wanda!” Someone calls out and you both turn to the newcomer. “You know where the classroom is?”
Yeah. Come on.” They both turn to leave and you stare after them. Wanda looks back and waves at you. You simply put your hand up in a lame attempt to reciprocate.
“Fuck.” You whisper softly and put your hand to your chest. You will yourself to calm down before resuming to read your book.
-
You yawn as you step inside the cafeteria. It’s been a week since you gave Wanda directions… a week since and you’ve been avoiding her. Every time she would wave her hand at you, you’ll turn to the other direction. Anytime she tries to call you, you would run the other way. It was hard since she’s practically a dog just begging for your attention… this is why you really prefer cats.
You get a tray and get your usual lunch. You’re not in the library since Miss Danvers apparently quitted and even though students usually man the counter, you’ve decided to eat like a normal person this day.
“Hey!” Wanda calls out and you felt your stomach drop. She was with the Avengers. They were the most popular group in school, even more than Seniors despite being Sophomores like you.
Tony and Vision Stark are smart, and people are saying that they’re going to take the world in a few years. With Stark Industries, they might as well do that.
Natasha Romanoff is the heir to the Romanoff Airlines, and she has been basically to everywhere and knows many languages.
Angel Garcia is one of the only people who seem to take every AP classes like you. She’s a smart Omega that you have no doubt will take the world in a storm. Some says she’s a power Omega to Natasha.
Pepper Potts is already showing signs of a great businesswoman and is already interning at Stark Industries. She’s the soulmate of Tony Stark.
Steve Rogers is another example of a power Omega, with his buff body and being the captain and quarterback of the football team.
James ‘Bucky’ Barnes is an Alpha who is also the ace of the Basketball team. He’s the Alpha of Steve Rogers.
Thor Odinson is an Alpha who can make girls wet their panties without doing anything but existing. He’s the heir to Mjolnir Constructions.
Sam Wilson is an Alpha who loves flying more than anything else, he’s father is a pilot at Romanoff Airlines.
You gulp and turn away from her. Walking to a smaller table with no one. You turn to look and see Wanda’s disappointed face. You sigh as you eat and take your phone out. You read fanfics as you eat your lunch.
It’s not like the Betas at the school have not invited you to eat with them but you preferred to be alone, talking to no one and be in your own world.
-
Wanda sighs and turns back to their table.
“Something wrong, младшая сестра?” Pietro asks and Wanda huffs. She gets her tray and was about to go to you when Sam grabs her arm.
“I wouldn’t go to Y/LN. She’s a Beta.” She stops at that and pulls away from him.
“So what? Is that a sin?” Natasha scoffs at Wanda.
“It means she’s a trying hard nobody.” Wanda glares at her and Natasha smiles.
“She’s still in most of the AP classes though.” Angel says and Tony scoffs.
“Only because her mom and sisters threatened to sue if they didn’t let her.”
“Jesus, what a spoiled brat.” Wanda’s eye twitches at that and she drags Pietro away from them.
“THOSE are you new friends?”
“Yeah? They’re the coolest people, Wands, trust me.”
“Coolest? They’re judging someone based on their second gender.”
“It’s the truth, though.” Wanda crosses her arms and Pietro shrugs. “Betas are just average people, Wands, don’t put too much faith in them.” Wanda huffs and looks at you but you were already gone.
-
You stretch your body before going back into your research. You’re inside the library after school and you’ve already texted your moms about being late.
“Is this seat taken?” You look up and see Wanda with a book of her own. You shake your head. “Do you mind?” You shake your head again and she sits down besides you. You were so focused on doing you research that you haven’t noticed that Wanda has been staring at you. You only notice that she hasn’t opened her book yet. You look to her and meet her eyes.
“Um?” You blush and Wanda looks away as she opens her book. “Is that The Flower Girl Wore Celery?” Wanda nods and you squeal lightly. “They have this? Where’d you find it?”
“In the literature section? There’s a whole lot of Children’s books there.” You sigh.
“Maybe after I finish this dreadful thing.”
“I’m Wanda by the way.” She holds out her hand and you take it while blushing.
“Right. I’m Y/N.” Wanda smiles at you and you gulp.
“Nice to meet you, Y/N.” You nod and try to focus on the research. You finally finish after an hour and you stretch your body.
“Finally done.” You say and Wanda hums. She’s already finished the Children’s book and was now reading a novel.
“Here.” She gives you the book and you smile at her.
“Thanks.” You begin reading the book.
Your phone rings just as you finish the book, you quickly answer it and it was your Mom.
“Y/N? Are you still finishing your research?”
“No. I’m already done, just going to return all the books that I’ve borrowed.”
“Okay. Your Ma is already cooking dinner.”
“Alright. I’ll finish up and go home.”
“See you later, little one.”
“Yeah. Bye, mom.” You hang up and sigh.
“You okay?” Wanda asks and you hum.
“Just a little sore.” You gather all of your things and put them into your bag.
“You’re leaving?”
“Yep. Ma’s cooking and my mom’s going to get angry if I’m not home by the time she finishes.”
“Let me help you.”
“You sure? Some of these reference books are heavy.”
“Yep.” She picks up the books that you left behind and follows you. You begin returning the books while Wanda hovers behind you. “You’ve been avoiding me.” You drop the last book in your hand and it drops on your foot. You whimper quietly and pick it up. You immediately sit and Wanda looks down you. “You okay?”
“F-fine.” You stutter and stand. You take all the remaining books from her and return them. After you return the last one you notice Wanda and blush. You look down. “Sorry.”
“For what, exactly?” She gets into your vision and you sigh.
“For avoiding you? Getting involved with me won’t do you any good.” You pick up your bag and leave the library with her.
“Why not?” You sigh.
“Because I’m a Beta. And you’re an Omega.”
“So what?” You look at her, not believing her words…
“I’m a Beta, Wanda, you’re an Omega, you should hang out with another Omega or an Alpha, not a Beta like me.” You get something from your bag and present it to her. It was a bookmark, a simple one with just words on them. “My apologies and try to read all the books written on it. They’re all pretty good.” Pietro calls out to Wanda and you both turn to him. “I have to go.” You leave her behind and Wanda sighs. She smiles as she reads the bookmark’s contents.

-------------------------◇----------------------------
Sipping the bitter liquid seemed to be the only thing you knew how to do these days.
After the second war against Thanos. After Vormir. After Tony's snap. After Cap stayed in the past. After Wanda seemingly disappeared. After Sam and Bucky moved on. After Clint went back to his family.
After the world finally started to turn again for everyone else. Only then did yours stop.
"Come on sweetheart, Morgans waiting for you."
You were too wasted to fight back against a tug of your collar before you were dragged from the barstool you occupied and thrown in the back of a car.
Of course, on the ride to wherever this stranger was taking you, you fell asleep, drooling all over the leather seat you were tossed onto.
-------------------------◇----------------------------
"Is she going to be okay, Mama?" A little voice raises you the slightest bit from sleep.
"She'll be fine honey. Please go wake her up for breakfast, she'll be hungry." You tried your best to ignore the voices disturbing your slumber.
Suddenly a soft, warm, hand touched your face. The hand was gently caressing your cheek.
'Nat?' She was the first thing your mind could think of. The only thing your mind ever thought of.
Suddenly opening your eyes, trying to get up and see the beautiful redhead for yourself had caused you to fall off the couch you were snoozing on before.
Groaning at the pain of the hard floor you looked up to see who it was who touched your face.
A small girl with brown hair, brown eyes and an uneven smile. . . Just like her father.
It was little Morgan Stark, of course.
Your face hit the floor once again with a loud groan. You could now feel the pounding of your head.
"Come on! Mom said breakfast is ready!" The little girl ran off to join her mother while you stayed on the floor for a couple of minutes, adjusting your mind to the new present world once again.
'Of course it wasn't her. Why would it be? Fucking idiot.' You thought as you got up off the floor with a sigh.
Walking into the dining room, you eventually sat at the head of the table resting your head on your hand, trying your best to block out any light that might make your hangover worse.
The blonde you knew as Pepper Potts. . . Stark. Pepper Stark, walked over with the containers full of her hot and ready breakfast.
Morgan, of course, placed most of the food her mother placed on the table on her plate. The girl was already shoving pancakes into her mouth while her mother laughed and sat down.
"He used to always choose that seat." Pepper interrupted the silence upon the three of you.
You looked down.
Shit.
This was Tony's old chair.
"Shit, I'm sorry. I didn't realize-"
"No, no. It's nice to see someone finally sit in it after all this time." Pepper smiled with a bitter sweet look.
Silence took over once again. The only sound being of Morgan and Peppers cutlery and your occasional groan.
"Are you going to eat, sweetheart?" The sweet blonde asked as she motioned to your empty plate.
"Oh- I'm not much of a breakfast person-"
"Nonsense, at least eat some bacon. Everyone likes bacon."
You'd humor her. She was a mourning widow after all, not to mention she had most likely been the one to pick your drunken state up from the bar last night.
Placing the last pieces of bacon on your plate, you slowly nibbled on them. Letting Pepper send you a grateful smile.
"We haven't had a lot of guests since. . . Ahem. Morgan's been pretty lonely so I'm sure she's glad you're here, aren't you honey?" Pepper turned towards Morgan just as the girl swallowed.
"Yeah! I could show you my Avengers figures! I even have you and Auntie Nat!"
Your breath hitched at her name.
"That's great honey, but I don't think I should stay. Your mom's already done enough for me. I wouldn't wanna cause more trouble." You tried to let Morgan down easily, you couldn't stay. You didn't want to cry in front of either of them but if you saw the figure you sure as hell would.
"Y/n, please stay. We could use the company." Peppers' eyes almost looked as if they were pleading you to stay.
Once again, you decided to humor her.
"Fine, fine. But only the night." But as soon as you agreed Morgan was dragging you up to her room.
-------------------------◇----------------------------
"That's you, and this is my Black Widow figure!" Morgan picked up the figure that was in a black bodysuit and had red hair and handed it to you.
"It's a spitting image of her." You replied trying to will the tears away. You refused to cry in front of this child.
"You can have it." Morgan said while smiling happily.
"What? Morgan, I could never-" She interrupted you.
"I know how much you miss her, Auntie Y/n. You miss her like I miss daddy." You couldn't stop the tears from flowing as you kneeled down next to the four year old.
"I'm sorry about your dad Morgan."
"It's not your fault, Auntie Y/n. It was his choice. Mommy says he can finally rest now." Morgan smiles a bit.
You could tell she wasn't old enough to fully understand death but you knew she knew he wasn't coming back.
"You're too smart for your own good, little one."
"Morgan! The bus is here!"
"Coming Mom!"
Morgan ran down stairs to greet her mother while you followed her. Black Widow figure in hand.
"Goodbye Auntie Y/n! See ya after school!!"
"See ya, squirt."
It had been about an hour after Morgan left for school. You and Pepper were sat watching TV while you were still holding the Black Widow figure.
"What did she give you?" Pepper asked with a knowing smile.
You uncovered the figure showing it to her. Although, you wouldn't let the blonde take it from you as it was the only thing connecting you to your missing love right now.
"You miss her more than people think you do." Pepper stated while you just nodded.
"The whole world has just seemed to move on. Now that everyones back it feels like no one cares for their sacrifice. Like everyone gets to live their lives, but me."
"I know the feeling." Pepper hummed. "It's the worst at night. In the morning I have work and Morgan to distract me but at night, everythings quiet. Almost as if the silence is taunting me."
"I've never heard truer words." you spoke.
"Why don't you stay with us for awhile?"
"What?" You were confused.
"I mean you don't have to, but we would enjoy it if you stayed with us. We could use the company and I could use the help with Morgan.
"You sure? I don't want to intrude."
"Would I be asking you if you would be intruding?"
Of course you felt unsure, but maybe you could use the time away. Plus you're pretty sure if you need to visit the apartment, Pepper wouldn't mind.
"I don't want to leave our apartment behind." You stated, tears making their way back to your eyes.
Pepper seemed to understand what you really meant.
You didn't want to leave Natasha behind.
"You're not leaving her behind if you leave the apartment for a few weeks. You can even bring some of her belongings here if you'd like." Pepper put her hand on top of your shoulder, attempting to comfort you.
You looked down at the figure in your hand. You felt like the damn toy was staring right into your soul, just like she always did.
"Yeah, it might be good to get away for a while." You nodded.

My 2021 Fic
The Simple Life (wip)
“What’s going on?” Tony asks, walking over to the security guard. The man is sitting at his desk and talking to a kid who’s gesturing animatedly. “Is it bring your kid to work day or something?”
“Hi!” the kid says, smiling brightly and waving at Tony. “I’m Peter.”
“He says he’s, uh…” The guard seems to be at a loss.
“You’re my dad!” Peter says, still smiling brightly.
Tony’s whole body flinches.
---
An AU of The Game Plan, set right after Civil War and featuring a very lonely Tony Stark with poor coping mechanisms; a very young Peter Parker who is losing track of how many lies he’s told; and a very busy Pepper Potts who is starting to see her ex-boyfriend in a new light.
--------------------------------------------
The Best Thanksgiving Ever
Thanksgiving, 2024. It’s a year post-blip and Tony Stark has invited all his family and friends over to his idyllic lake house for a perfect holiday. It’s gonna be great. Perfect. Absolutely nothing is going to go wrong.
---
“No,” Happy says. He steps towards the turkey, hands raised as though to ward them both off. “You two are not blowing up another turkey.”
Peter turns to him, eyes wide. “But… it’s for science.”
Happy raises a finger at him. “No.”
“Hap–” Tony tries.
“No.”
--------------------------------------------
the one where Bucky kidnapped Peter Stark as a toddler (series)
It’s 2019. In a universe where Thanos didn’t snap, Bucky is still making amends for his crimes as the Winter Soldier. Which includes that time he kidnapped Tony Stark’s kid in 2007. 12 years later, after tracking Nicholas Stark down again on a trip that takes him halfway around the world, he drops the teenager now known as Peter Parker off on Tony’s doorstep.
Then Peter and Tony are left to deal with the aftermath.
(These are best read in order for them to make the most sense.)
old ghosts keep whispering In which Bucky is working on making amends, leading him to play detective into what happened to Nick Stark after he broke protocol and dumped the toddler outside a hospital instead of delivering him to HYDRA.
my family (might be a walking disaster) Peter Parker is dealing with finding out he was kidnapped and that his biological father is Iron Man really well. Honestly. He's fine. It's fine. Everything is fine.
twelve years, eight days, twenty-one hours, and fifteen minutes (give or take) Tony counts the time that his son is missing in minutes at first, then hours. Days. Months. ... Years. He never really stops counting.
--------------------------------------------
A 10 Step Plan for Saving Your Mentor’s Life (a Guide by Peter Parker) (wip)
What should be a quick training mission for the kid turns into disaster when the warehouse Tony and Peter are investigating collapses on top of them, leaving Tony trapped beneath the rubble. Waiting for someone with more expertise than a fifteen year old kid to dig him out would be ideal, sure, but Tony’s bleeding out from a gut wound. He doesn’t have that kind of time.
--------------------------------------------
I tamagot-chu (if you tamagot-me)
Ned shoved a bright purple tamagotchi into Peter’s hands.
“What is this?” Peter asked.
“That’s Karen.”
Peter looked between Ned and the tamagotchi. “What?”
“I ran out of room on the external drive,” Ned said.
Peter blinked at the tamagotchi. A tiny circle with a face was bouncing around the screen. There was a little pixelated skull in the corner. “You downloaded Karen onto a tamagotchi?”
“My mom was coming! I panicked!”
--------------------------------------------
relieved to lie in the wreckage
When Obi-wan doesn’t follow Padmé to Mustafar, she’s able to convince Anakin to run away from everything with her. But this doesn't prevent his nightmares from coming true, and he's left alone in a hostile galaxy with the infants she begged him to protect.
“Master Anakin,” Threepio says, still hovering in the doorway. “Might I suggest bouncing the children?”
Anakin stops pacing around with the twins, head swiveling to look at Threepio. He doesn’t have to ask what the fuck Threepio is talking about; Artoo does it for him.
Threepio seems to draw himself up as straight as he can. “I have conducted extensive research on the subject of human childrearing in anticipation of Mistress Padmé giving birth. Holding an infant and gently bouncing them in the parent’s arms is thought to be an excellent calming method.”
“Oh,” Anakin says. “I thought you meant… bouncing them on the floor or something.”
--------------------------------------------
The Stowaway (hiatus)
Damen and his co-pilot Nikandros are comfortably settled into life, flying around the galaxy on the Lioness taking odd jobs – some more legal than others. Until a shipment job from Vere to Naboo comes with an unexpected stowaway.

A Ranking of Parents in the Marvel Universe:
Mystique: Depending on what lore your looking at you have two options: Throws one Kid off a cliff for being too mutant or Abandoned a Kid because they ain’t Mutant enough. Either way Mystique is both neglectful and a absent parent to her blood offspring (while on the flip side being very doting to her adopted kid). 1/10 would not recommend her as a biological mom.
Howard Stark: Neglectful, potential abusive (I havnt read the comics - but according to Tumblr…) prefers a capsicle and his own empire over his son. Son doesn’t even cared his father was murder just pissed his mother was collateral. 1/10 would not recommend.
Maria Stark: I’m guessing she’s alright? Her death caused real pain and sadness to her only son. 5/10 since she stayed in a bad marriage even though it was screwing up her kid.
Odin (MCU): Depends on what kid your referring to: on one hand he has his oldest (the daughter) who he raised to be his own personal executioner and brought her with him on war campaigns. Lock her away once he got his shiny castle and perfect heir 1/10 would recommend and yet on the other hand he was supportive, loving, set standards, and doled out fair punishment that helped his middle child become a perfect hero 10/10 recommend if your name is Thor. All in All I would rank Odin a 5/10 overall since it’s a toss up on what his parenting gonna be like from kid to kid.
Frigga: Utter angel for being married to Odin and dealing with his random ass parenting styles. Seems to be the more stable of parents, fair all of around parent and absolute perfect role model. 10/10 would recommend (only with a different husband).
Ego: Homicidal asshole that impregnates women, kills the women, kidnaps his own offsprings only to murder them when they don’t live up to his expectations, and when one finally lived up to his expectations he tried to enslave him and use him as a battery. 1/10 would definitely not recommend at all.
Tony Stark: Loving and doting father to his little girl. Would give up the world of a high life billionaire to provide a comfortable and normal childhood for her outside of the city. Even willing to sacrifice himself to give her a better future free of Thanos. 10/10 would recommend.
Pepper Potts/Stark: Also loving mother, cares a great deal for her offspring and only wants the best for her. Tries to provided a stable world away from the chaos of city life. 10/10 would recommend.
Wolverine: Would raising his clone count? Ehh in case it does. Tired dad raising a Homicidal little girl with anger issues. Probably questioning if she’s actually his and not his brother with how bad her temper gets. Wants the best for her, and tires his best to get her to a safe place. Is he perfect? No. 9/10.
Hank Pym: Over Protective to the point of seeming sexist at times to her. Deep down loves his daughter but is so afraid to lose her like he did her mother so ends up acting like a jerk. Finally pulls his ass out of head and gives her a chance to truly follow in her mother’s and father footsteps. 7/10 would recommend.
I’m probably missing some, but this post is already getting long 😆 So uh give me a marvel parent and I’ll rank them!

Thanks for the prompt! Did you know that is my very first solo Frostiron piece? I mean, I have ideas for longer pieces, but this is my FIRST FrostIron! What I'm trying to say, is thank you!

‘Have I ever told you how much I hate weddings?’ Tony told Pepper after he’d gently twirled her away from him, her dress floating around her knees as she went. He brought her back in towards him with a smile, knowing too late that he’d pulled her too hard.
Her hands splayed on his chest as she crashed into him, her eyes glaring daggers at him as she stared up through her sleek auburn bangs. ‘How many times have I given you dance lessons, Tony? Gentle with your partner,’ Pepper hissed up at him, kicking the side of his foot.
‘Countless times, honey, and that’s not including all the ones Jarvis and my mom tried to shove down my throat when I was younger.’ He laughed at her pouting, slick red lip, sliding his hand down to her waist, taking a moment to appreciate what she was wearing.
He was reminded of the first dance they’d had back years ago at a charity function, before Thanos, before the creation of the Avengers, back when Iron Man was still a half-formed idea in his head. The dress was a similar cut to the one she wore back then, backless and clinging to her curves, a mellow mint green that suited her beautifully.
‘I wore deodorant this time,’ Pepper told him, her mind treading the same path as his.
‘You know what, that was the very next thing I was going to say, how lovely you smell,’ Tony told her, flinching when she smacked him on the shoulder.
‘We’ve come a long way since then,’ Pepper told him, resting her head on his shoulder, trusting him to keep them moving among the other couples on the dance floor. He swayed them back and forth to the gentle tempo of the music, their stance more of a hug than any recognizable dance position. Tony couldn’t suppress his memories, the specters of their past selves gliding along beside them, caressing them with their shared past.
‘I don’t think I ever said it enough, Pepper, but you know I love you, have always loved you.’ Tony came to a halt, both his hands circling her waist as he looked into her eyes, hoping she could see his sincerity, his earnest feelings.
‘I knew how you felt, Tony,’ Pepper reassured, bringing a hand to rest against his cheek.
‘Not just because of the us we used to be, but for all of it. Standing beside me at the company, not giving up on me when everyone else did. You’re my rock, my best friend, you always were.’
‘What is it about you and weddings? You always become so emotional,’ Pepper teased, removing her hand and replacing it with a kiss, her lipstick lingering even as she moved away.
‘I hate weddings,’ Tony scoffed, drawing away and tilting his head back as if that would somehow make the tears recede. The light above him became blocked as a head loomed over his, black strands of hair tickling his face.
‘Mind if I cut in?’ Loki asked Pepper politely.
‘He’s all yours. I promised Rhodey I would join him in a toast. After all, it’s not every day we manage to palm our needy child off onto someone else.’ She stepped away from Tony, swiping away her own tears as she looked at them both.
‘I take it all back! I was having a weak moment! I abhor sentiment!’
‘You abhor sentiment? My, my Anthony, is my vernacular rubbing off on you?’ Loki asked as he came around to stand in front of Tony, offering his hand with a bow, every inch the prince.
‘Shut up,’ Tony growled, crossing his arms over his chest.
‘Come now, beloved, you have not danced with me yet and you promised me at least one.’
‘Did not, you’re becoming senile in your old age, Lokes,’ Tony spat, but he took the offered hand, allowing Loki to take the dominant dance partner position. There was an elegance to Loki’s movements that Tony could never hope to replicate, the innate poise instilled into him after centuries of being royalty.
Even now, after all of these years, even on today of all days, Tony still found himself faltering.
‘It is I who is lucky, beloved, not you,’ Loki reassured, giving his trademark smirk.
‘Says the guy who looks like…well that.’ Tony gestured to the ivory suit Loki wore, tailored in a Midgardian style, only a few Asgardian tweaks indicating his heritage. Tony reached up to place his hands on the forest green lapels of Loki’s suit jacket, smoothing both his thumbs over the gold embroidery lacing through it.
Loki’s hands stroked down Tony’s arms down to his waist, holding him close as he walked them both around in a circle, his footsteps steady and confident, his touch cool through Tony’s matching suit jacket. There was nothing about their dance that was suggestive, Tony had made Loki promise that everything would be kept to a teen rating for today.
The world around them melted away as he looked up into Loki’s eyes, the sounds of the band, the strings of fairy lights nestled in swathes of gossamer fabric, the twirling, vivid shads of the couples around them, they all faded into a romantic haze that only happened in Disney movies. They’d danced together of course, but nothing like this, not with Loki holding Tony delicately and looking down at him in wonder.
‘I told you I didn’t need this,’ Tony murmured, scared to break the spell woven around them.
‘I know,’ Loki answered, his voice just as soft, still keeping them moving even as he reached down to brush his lips across Tony’s. ‘But I meant it when I said I wanted to be joined with you… in all ways. Your customs are important to me, and I wish to honor them.’
‘I hate weddings,’ Tony told him, laughing as Loki suddenly spun him outwards, never letting go of his hand. He knew, without question that Loki wouldn’t let him fall. Tony’s footsteps faltered when Loki brought him back in, ensnared by the tender expression on Loki’s face, the way his eyes twinkled with both the light of the decorations around them and his unshed tears.
‘Yes, I heard you say that to Miss Potts,’ Loki told him, reaching down to ask him a question. ‘Even when it’s our own?’ The words breathed across his ear made him stop and look around. All of their friends and family had gathered to help them celebrate, all of them proud and happy they had managed to find each other despite the pain in their lives.
‘No, I guess ours is the exception. Husband.’
‘I’m glad to hear that… husband mine.’

Everything has changed (and I'm not ready)
Anniversary celebration fic for my irondad platonic soulmate au as well as a gift for @superherotiger
Peter didn't have the greatest relationship with time, it just wasn't on his side. Not after having been cut short with so many of the people that he loved.
First was his parents. His time with them ending when he was only five years old, not even being able to understand fully that his mom and dad weren't going to walk back through the door and hug him close between them. That they never would again.
And just as it had with his parents, his time with Ben was cut short as well. But it wasn't only him this time, not in the way it had been before. His aunt and uncle’s time with their brother and sister in law had been taken but it was different from what and who had been taken from Peter.
It was different this time, because time had been taken from May, now too. Not only had Peter lost his uncle, but May had lost her husband. Just like that, their time with someone that they loved was taken away. Again.
Peter had hoped it would be the last. But that wasn't meant to be.
The next person he would lose time with wasn't even the one to die. No, it was him who died, leaving Tony with the reality of time being taken from them. Their broken and silent soulmate bond left as a constant reminder. An empty hourglass.
And then it wasn't empty. Peter and billions of others had been returned, many broken bonds repairing just as Tony and Peter's at their lost half's return.
Their sands of time started flowing once again in the midst of the same battle that almost led to the sand's second end. Their time was granted a chance to continue, as were countless others around the world, the universe.
Time was returned, and now it was ready to move forward.
 ---
Things change, people change. Time moves and so do the lives of everyone and everything. Nothing can truly stay the same forever, not changing, growing, or moving at all.
It wasn't right. Everything changed, even if it was slowly and in a way that had you looking back on previous years, thinking it was so different back then.
Everything changed, time moved forward, and Peter knew that it had to. He really did. But that knowledge still didn't make him want those changes. It didn't make his fear and his anxiety any calmer.
All it did was overwhelm him and make him feel woefully unprepared in the face of time moving and him having to move with it.
Quite frankly, it sucked. Big time.
It was all too soon, things were moving too fast and Peter didn't know how to handle it. He wasn't ready.
Looking around at the world, he saw the way things had changed in the last two years since the dusted had been returned.
He saw the rise and the fall of the good and bad effects of billions of people returning to a world that had only just found its footing again.
He saw the places he once knew–buildings, parks, and homes–and how they were no longer there. Only a ghost of their memory left behind in the newer versions or the empty remains that replaced them.
And he saw age and growth. Things he noticed oh so much in his family, his friends.
It was in Morgan's growth spurt, her head reaching just above his hip, and the seven candles on the cake at her birthday party.
In the faint lines appearing at the corners of May's eyes and mouth. In the grey hair that Pepper found, and in the creaking he sometimes heard in Tony's bones.
But it was time moving for himself that truly unsettled Peter.
He was 19 now. It had been two years already since the battle. He was supposed to be moving on and growing up.
Peter was going to college in a few months, all the way in Massachusetts. Four hours and over 200 miles away. Away from his home, his family, and the only piece of stability that he had been able to create since coming back.
And he wasn't ready. He was far from ready. With each day that passed, each day that inched him closer and closer to leaving for MIT, he just became more anxious, scared, and lost.
Peter thought that he had at least hidden it well enough, the only problem was his attempts at hiding it from Tony. He knew that the man would more than likely feel at least a tiny bleed through from their Bond but Peter had painstakingly and slowly numbed his side of the Bond in an attempt to stop that.
Apart from Tony, he was sure he had hidden it pretty freaking well from everyone else, and had thought he had been successful at not letting anyone notice.
Keyword being thought. Turns out, Peter hadn't been quite as successful as he'd believed.
That fact became entirely apparent during a weekend visit from the one and only Michelle Jones. (Also known as his girlfriend and the only other person apart from Pepper Potts, May Parker, and Natasha Romanoff capable of subduing and controlling the eccentric genius of Peter and Tony. Yes, even when their dumbassery was combined.)
They had been sitting out on the dock, legs dangling off of the edge and their feet kicking back and forth in the cool, refreshing water of the lake, when MJ had turned to look at Peter.
Her head tilted, eyebrow raised slightly as she pinned him with a gaze that made him feel as though he was one of her books that she analysed.
Peter stared back in silence.
A few moments passed before MJ's expression softened, apparently finding what she was looking for. "You know you can talk to any of us, right? About whatever is bothering you." She said to him, her voice soft and low as if she didn't want to disturb the quiet peace of the summer afternoon.
"And please don't say that there isn't anything, I know that there is. We all do. We care about you, Peter, and we're here if you need us. I'm here if you need me."
A muscle jumped in Peter's jaw as he clenched his teeth, looking for a moment like he would open up. The moment was over seconds later when he sniffed in a decidedly Tony like manner and gave MJ a put on smile.
As if she wouldn't see through it. She did.
 "Thanks, Mich." Peter said.
The conversation was over. He had made that clear and MJ knew that if she pushed anymore that Peter would just shut down. And so, as much as she didn't want to, she backed off.
---
"I don't understand, Pep. He just won't talk. The second you even think about asking if he's okay or anything vaguely similar, he shuts down." Tony rubbed a tired hand over his face as he dropped face flat onto the bed next to his wife, sighing into the mattress as Pepper reached over and ran a gentle hand through his hair.
Even though she was just as worried, Pepper couldn't help but smile at Tony's clear concern and love for his kid. "Maybe he just needs to figure it out himself. I know another certain someone who used to do the same. Not always nice, is it?" She gave a slight smirk before sobering at Tony's next words.
"He closed the Bond. Not completely, but he did it slowly and minutely enough that I didn't notice until I realised one day that I couldn't feel his presence as much as I usually would in the background of the Bond. That's what's worrying me the most." Tony's eyes were dark, exasperated concern glittering in them.
"I just wish he would let us help him. He won't even talk to May. I don't understand why he won't let any of us in, not let me in. My kid is hurting in some way and I don't know what to do or how to help him." Tony looked up at Pepper and she was momentarily silenced by the frustration, love, and hurt written across his face.
That was when she realised it was more than just worry and concern about Peter as Tony's unofficial child, that it was worry and concern about his soulmate who was hurting and withdrawing from any form of support and help.
"What do I do, Pep?" Tony's voice was soft, almost defeated, and she didn't have the heart in her to admit that she didn't know what to do.
Instead, with as much confidence as she could muster, Pepper murmured to her husband.
"We give him time. And until he is ready to speak to any of us, we give him support and show him to the best of our ability that he is loved and will always have us on his side."

Ladybug: A Young Avenger
Tumblr media
Hey Everyone, I got prompt for a civil war ML crossover fic but I was really into Team Iron Man on Ao3 for longest of times and, after endgame, I kind of need some team fluff. So I tweaked the prompt. It’s still team Iron man; just… not the way you’d expect. (Also did anyone know else know that Penny’s last name was Rolling?)
It took Tony Stark all of five minutes to figure out Ladybug’s identity.
“Jarvis, buddy?” Tony called out.
“Yes, sir?”
“What’s up with teenagers and being bug-themed heroes wearing inappropriate costumes?”
The A.I took a moment before answering, “…I, for one, blame Vine.”
Tony sighed. First fifteen-year-old Peter Parker aka Spiderman. He took the kid on an as an intern the second he learned about Spiderman. Now fifteen-year-old Marinette Dupain-Cheng aka Ladybug.
           He groaned.
What could he do? He needed help.
Captain America needed to be stopped. The Winter Solider needed to be taken down. Team Cap had gone too far.
           It was war.
Getting Harley Keener, a mechanical mastermind to agree to be his intern was a bit like chewing nails but Tony always knew the kit would agree. Getting Peter Parker, a child genius with a bright future as a scientist, to agree to be his intern was a piece of cake. Honestly Tony could’ve asked for the kid’s soul in repayment and Peter would’ve asked if he wanted on a silver plate or if plastic was okay? Getting Riri Williams, an engineering prodigy to be his intern, was easy. Too easy; her mom practically threw her at him, all while making him swear into a recorder that he wouldn’t sue. No matter what. Introducing the kids to his labs made him feel like Willie Wonka hand-delivering the golden tickets.
They were all future scientists and engineers like Tony. They grew up worshiping at the altar of Stark Industries like ever future MIT graduate did.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng, on the other hand, was an entirely different beast who played an entirely different game. She was a fashion prodigy who had designed for stars like Jagged Stone and Clara Nightingale. She had interned for Style Queen Audrey Bourgeois, had her clothes walk the runway during Paris fashion week, and had a summer job that somehow lasted over a year, working for Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-Chief for Runway Magazine when the scary woman took over Paris: Runaway. Said job ended when Miranda when back to New York. Marinette only prayed to the fashion gods. So when Tony Stark, god of the nerds, showed up at her door, she only blinked once.
Said girl sat between her parents, with cool blue eyes glaring at him suspiciously. Luckily Tony was smart enough to bring Pepper with him.
Pepper Potts smiled at the family in front of her; two bakers and the daughter, who made the most delicious macarons that she ever tasted. “So you see, after Tony came across Marinette’s wonderful re-design sketch of his suit on her website, he was very impressed with her talent.”
“But to take Marinette on as an intern?” Sabine asked. “Excuse me, but Marinette has always leaned towards the arts than science.”
Tony gave the woman his best charming smile, “What is science if not another form of art. We both create, strive to better our talents, work to make names for ourselves; experiment and test out hypothesizes. Granted no one in my field ever created the disaster that was crocs.”
Marinette narrowed her eyes, “Didn’t your father help on the Manhattan Project?”
           Silence.
Pepper cleared on her throat. “Tom, Sabine, before anyone agrees to anything I’d like to go over safety procedures in place. Would you mind stepping outside with me, I could use a bit of fresh air.”
Tony and Marinette just stared at each other as the three left the room. When the front door closed behind them, Marinette leaned forward, “What do you want?” Her patience had reached its end.
“Aren’t you being a little rude?” Tony smirked.
“Aren’t you a little old?” Marinette snapped back. “What do you want?”
“I want Ladybug’s help.”
Marinette flinched back in shock. Her heart raced in her chest. “How do you know?”
“I’m Tony Stark,” He shrugged easily, picking up a mint chocolate Macron. “I know everything.”
Marinette fought the fear racing through her, and steeled herself like Miranda and Audrey had taught her, “So Iron Man’s wanted Ladybug as an intern? So what does Iron Man get? What does Ladybug get? What does Tony get? And what does Marinette get?”
“You made clear distinctions,” Tony said approvingly, his business-side gearing up. “But I am Iron Man.” He said. “You come to New York for this spring break and for the summer. I get Ladybug’s help in handling a personal issue that has developed within the Avengers. Ladybug gets training from the Avengers. Marinette gets to add Stark Industries and a personal letter of recommendation from Tony Stark to her resume.”
“On the condition, that identities stay secret from the media,” Marinette crossed her arms. “I don’t suppose I can hide it from the rest Avengers for very long. And I get an additional letter of recommendation from Pepper Potts. Pepper takes my friend Chloe on as an intern; she’s the hero, Queen Bee. And only one who knows my identity, besides you. Also, I actually do get to help design your next suit. My expenses?”
Tony smirk widened. The girl knew how to cover her bases. She even wanted to have an Ally with her should things take a turn. “All paid for by me. First-class all the way. You and Chloe will stay in the Stark Tower on the same floor as the other interns.”
“Other young superheroes, you mean?” Marinette guessed, causing Tony’s eyes to twinkle in joy. “Spiderman, Iron Heart, and WarIron. Based on their sizes, I had guessed they were young; teenagers probably. Why didn’t you ask Chat Noir too? Or why aren’t you? Because you’re not, you would’ve mentioned it by now?”
“You mean the Agreste kid?” Tony said, not noticing Marinette’s eyes widen in surprise. “He’s not serious enough for me. I play games but he goes too far. Surprised you haven’t dumped him yet. Get a better partner.”
Marinette took a bit of a macron to get a moment to think. Adrien was Chat Noir. In retrospect, it made a lot of sense. Both were socially immature, and a bit naïve. Each had an idealistic view of things and didn’t let the real world break them of it. For example Adrien and his dealing with Lila’s lies. Chat Noir and Ladybug turning down his advances.
“Very well,” The bluenette finally agreed. “I agree to be your intern. Shall we discuss my salary now or later? Well, need to before I or my parents sign any contracts.”
It was Tony’s turn to narrow his eyes. Not one; not a single one of his interns: Harley, Peter, or Riri ever asked about how much they’d get paid. They’d all assumed it was an unpaid internship and was surprised when their contracts included a salary. “You’re a shark.”
Marinette hummed, “You should see me when there’s blood in the water.”
That was something Tony was looking forward to seeing.
The official paperwork was signed three days later; Marinette was officially a Stark intern. Due to go to Orientation for spring break in New York in a few weeks.
Those weeks flew by. She let Fu know she’d have to go back and forth for a few weeks. She didn’t bother telling anyone else. Her friendships in the class had dwindled dramatically. While most weren’t her outright enemies, her classmates tended to avoid her. If they couldn’t do that, they were beyond cold to her. It was Lila’s doing. She got her hooks into the class, who all wanted to tie themselves to the golden goose, and when it was clear that Lila and Marinette didn’t like each other, they picked sides. They chose their meal ticket over their lifelong friend.
Honestly, it made Marinette almost wish that Lila had lied about her instead; accused her of being a bully or something. Anything. Because at least then her ex-friends would have somewhat of a reason to be ex-friends. Even if it wasn’t a very good one. Instead, they were just bad friends all on their own.
Still, Marinette didn’t mourn their loss as she sat in the back of the class with Chloe on a Sunny Tuesday morning, and they were living for New York that Friday. She had a steadily rising career in Fashion. She had worked under Miranda Priestly and Audrey. From them, she learned it was best to drop fair-weather friends and how to spot wannabes, fame-seekers, and gold-diggers from three miles away.
She was happy with Chloe as her bestie. The girl had turned a new leaf and proven her loyalty to the point where Fu made her a permanent hero. And the Blond had been ecstatic when Pepper Potts had shown up at their door. She had hugged Marinette a full five minutes for getting her the internship. All while screaming with joy.
Both girls were excited to go. Though Marinette did encounter one downside. The night before, Jagged Stone and Penny Rolling; or as Marinette deemed them #RollingStone, called her. Or rather Penny did the talking. Jagged was trying to wrestle his newest jacket away from Fang’s teeth. Penny offered Marinette a chance to spend her spring break traveling around on tour with Jagged, as his personal stylist. Marinette had no choice but to turn the job down. She loved her honorary Uncle Jagged but she already signed the contract.
That morning Lila had spun another set of lies. The first was about helping Tony Stark fix his Iron man suit when she was traveling in America. The second was about the newest song Jagged Stone wrote about her. It was exhausting to listen to but the class hung on every word.
Bustier had just finished her first lesson of the day when she invited Alya to stand up.
The glasses-wearing girl grinned at the class, “So as everyone’s aware; there’s a class pool party is this Saturday; first day of spring break, baby!” The class cheered. “Everyone who’s invited should’ve gotten their invitation. Don’t want any drama,” She cast a cold look to the two girls at the back of the class. “Invite only. So no party crashers. Marinette, Chloe what are you doing this Saturday?” Alya smirked at her call out that the two girls weren’t invited; that they were the only ones who weren’t.
As if on cue, the classroom’s door burst opened and in walked Tony Stark, followed by a very apologetic looking Pepper, “Marinette; it’s time to go! Grab Pepper’s minion and let’s go.”
There were gasps from the class. Max sat up straight. Iron Man was in front of him, in his class, this was the best day of his life.
Marinette just sighed, “Did you kick the door open, Tony?” Disapproval clear in her voice.
“…No?”
“I can’t go now!” Marinette explained. “I have class. We weren’t supposed to leave until Friday, remember.”
Tony waved her off, “Details. Spring Break starts now. Queenie, Mari; chop-chop! New York is waiting!”
Bustier decided to step in. She may not always be the best teacher but she refused to allow a strange man, even if that man was Tony Stark, to take away any of her students. “Mr. Stark, can I ask what you want Marinette and Chloe for?”
Thankfully, it was Pepper that answered as she closed back the classroom door, “They have been employed as interns for Stark Industries. They’ll be attending orientation during their spring break at Stark Tower.”
Max actually fell out of his seat. Because this couldnt be happening. Stark industries rarely ever took high schoolers’ as interns. Tony Stark only chose the best of the best. How could Marinette land the job?
“Marinette’s my intern,” Tony grinned. “Blondie’s Pepper’s. Who else is gonna teach her how to rule the world.”
A slow smile spread across Chloe’s face, “With an iron fist.”
Tony pointed at her, “You scare me. Pepper get your intern!”
The other students were amazed. Marinette was Tony Stark’s intern. Chloe somehow got Pepper Pott's attention. What had they missed? Why didn’t Marinette tell them? How?
“That’s what we’ll be doing this Saturday, Alya,” Chloe drawled. “In New York, hanging with the Avengers.” Causing Alya to flush with anger. “We couldn’t come to your pool party even if we wanted to. Which we don’t.”
“He found my sketch of a potential Iron man suit design,” Marinette explained, continuing the story Tony had told her parents. “He loved it and offered me the job a few weeks ago.”
“Weeks?” Nino asked. “And you didn’t tell us? Dudette, not cool.”
Alix nodded, her arms crossed, “Yeah I thought we were friends!”
Marinette and Chloe just looked at them like they were stupid.
Alya put her hands on her hips, “Mr. Stark, why didn’t you ask Lila Rossi to be your intern? She helped you with your suit before. She’d be much better than Marinette!”
The girl in question face turned bright red, “This can’t be happening.” Lila muttered.
Tony looked honestly confused, “Lila? Who’s Lila? No one ever helped me with my suit except the kids I already got as interns.” He looked at Pepper. “Do I know a Lila Rossi?”
Pepper shook her head, and turned fierce eyes towards Lila, “Miss Rossi, please refrain from lying about Tony Stark and or Stark Industries. Or we will sue you on the grounds of defamation.”
Lila squeaked. Sue? She couldn’t be sued. Her mother would kill her if she got a lawsuit from Tony Stark.
It was the rest of the class’s turn to look confused.
However, before anyone could ask any follow-up questions, the classroom door burst opened again. Jagged Stone strutted in, followed by a very apologetic look Penny and happy Fang with, what looked to be, the arm of a leather jacket.
“Marinette!” Jagged yelled. “What’s this about you not coming on tour? I need my favorite stylist, love.
Marinette just sighed, “Did you kick the door open, Jagged?” Disapproval clear in her voice.
“…No?”
The bluenette just shook her head, “I have plans this Spring break. I’m sorry.”
“Plans?” Jagged whined. “What could be better spending your Spring Break with a Rock Star? You can even bring your Blonde. Penny could use an assistant!” He paused, finally noticing it wasn’t just kids. “The bloody hell is Tony Stark doing here?”
The two famous men eyed each other. The women they came with just looked so done with the world.
Tony crossed his arms, “I got custody of Marinette for Spring Break; you snooze, you lose.”
“What?!” Jagged hissed. “She’s my designer.”
“She’s my intern!”
Jagged glared, “I knew her first. By rights, I get custody.”
“I have a contract that says otherwise!” Tony taunted the Rock Star. “Her future is Stark Industries.”
“Her future is Rock and Roll!” Jagged yelled back.
Both men glared at each other.
“Pepper!”
“Penny!”
Both women groaned. How was this their lives? Why what was this their lives? What bus full of nuns and orphans did they rob in a past life?
Penny smiled, “Marinette means the world to us. I’m her honorary Aunt Penny,” She held out her hand for Pepper. “Jagged’s her honorary Uncle. We’ve known her for years. Contracts were already signed?”
Pepper nodded, “Tony doesn’t play when it comes to his interns. He won’t budge. Trust me; we’ve done this three other times. Marinette’s his kid now, all but legally.” For now, Pepper didn’t bother to add. Every now and then she found discovered a new set of adoption papers with one of the interns’ names on it; one time she found three sets for all three. Plus if Tony kept hinting any harder, May was going to gut him.  “She’ll be in New York for Spring break and all of the summer.”
“Summer!” Jagged whined. “He gets custody for summer too! No!” he shook his head. “Not happening. Call our lawyers, Penny. We’re going to family court!”
Tony blew him a raspberry. Tony Stark blew Jagged Stone a raspberry. The class could only blink, trying to process what was happening.
Marinette just wanted the earth to open up and swallow her.
“Marinette already designed your clothes for the tour,” Penny tried to placate. “They’re amazing. We can call and skype if we need any additional tips. We have a concert in New York over spring break so we can go and see.” They didn’t. But Penny would be damned if she could have one booked within the hour. Anything to stop jagged from mention family court again. “Most of our summer is free too, we can visit Marinette whenever we want.”
Jagged huffed but didn’t say anything.
“Well not whenever you want,” Tony teased.
“Family court!” Jagged hissed.
“Tony!” Pepper said warningly. She was not going to let this going to court. No matter how lovely Marinette was. “Be nice.”
           Tony pouted.
Marinette raised her hand, “You guys know that legally my parents still have custody of me, right?” There was no answer. “Right?!” Nothing.
           The bluenette just sighed.
Alya took that moment to break in, “Jagged, don’t you want to say hi to Lila? She’s right here,” Alya pointed to her bestie. “Oh, can we listen to the songs you wrote for her? Can you tell us how she saved your cat from getting hit by a plane?”
The look Lila gave Alya could’ve killed a thousand men.
Jagged looked affronted, “Lila? Who’s Lila?” He looked at his fiancé. “Penny, do I know a Lila?”
“No!” Penny glared fiercely at Lila. “Jagged Stone has never written a song about an underage girl before. He has never owned a cat. What parents and airline would careless enough to allow a child to rush onto a runway for a pet? Refrain from spreading any further slander. Or we’ll hit you with a lawsuit so fast you’ll get whiplash.”
“I’m allergic to cats by the way,” Jagged told the class. “All fur actually. That’s why I got Fang here.” He pointed the crocodile who had made its way to Marinette for cuddles. “I’ve had him for twenty years. He’s the only pet I’ve had all that time.”
Marinette rolled her eyes and took the crocodile in her lap.
“Twenty years?” Kim’s eyebrows furrowed. “Whoa, that’s long that we’ve been alive.”
Nino glared at Lila, “Yeah it is.” He finally realized the girl was lying. Most of the class had in fact.
“Enough of this,” Tony waved. “Marinette, Chloe, time to go. Leave the dinosaur.”
Bustier took a deep breath, “No one is taking Marinette or Chloe anywhere. Until I get a note from their parents verifying that is. I’m going to have to ask you all to leave.”
Penny and Pepper nodded understandingly. Jagged and Tony just looked shocked.
“But I’m Tony Stark!”
“I’m Jagged Stone, love!”
Bustier just rolled her eyes and shooed them out of her class. It took some handling, and eventually, the women had to drag the guys out. The teacher shut the door with a sigh of relief. She brushed off the imaginary dirt on her clothes. “Marinette,” She called. “If you could tell any future visitors to wait until after school to pick you up, with a note from your parents that would be most helpful.”
“Sorry,” Marinette blushed, a deep dark red.
Bustier walked back to her desk before pausing. “Is that Crocodile still in my class, Marinette?”
“…Yes.”
“I think he’s here for the rest of the day,” Chloe shrugged. “Unless you want to invite Jagged back?”
Bustier paused. No. Never again. “No. No. Fang can stay for the day.”
When the lunch bell rang, Marinette found that it was easier to avoid her classmates' questions, as they were too busy yelling at Lila. It wasn’t long after that Ladybug had to take down Lila’s seventh akuma form.
Marinette and Chloe left that night to New York. Somehow he managed to convince their parents that missing three days of school to study in the most advanced building in the world was a good thing.
When they got to Stark Tower, they were given a quick tour. Then Pepper took Chloe to show her where she would be working. And Tony took Marinette the workshop where three other kids were already working.
The oldest one glanced at her and snorted, “God he kidnapped another one.” He was the tallest in the room with dark brown hair and a smirk on his face.
           The other two snickered.
Tony looked affronted, “Oh please; your parental units practically threw you at me.
The younger looking boy smirked, “Aunt May threatened to shank you next time you took me out of school early.” He had light brown hair and big brown eyes
The genius pointed, “You tell Aunt Hottie to leave me alone.”
“HI, I’m Marinette!” She waved happily. “He keeps mentioning he has custody. And I’ve become moderately concerned.”
“And you should be,” The other girl in the room laughed. She was a pretty brown-skinned girl with black wild curls. “Name’s Riri.”
“Harley,” Said the first boy who spoke.
“Peter,” The other boy introduced.
Marinette nodded and eyes them, “WarIron,” The pointed at Harley. “Iron Heart,” Then at Riri. “Spiderman, right?” She pointed at Peter.
The three looked at Tony with questions in their eyes. Tony raised in hands in surrender, “Hey, I told her nothing.”
Harley eyed the new girl, “You’re from Paris, right?” She nodded. “Ladybug, I’m guessing.”  Marinette blushed. “Welcome to the Young Avengers, I guess. Why’d he bring you in?”
Marinette shrugged, “He said to there was a personal problem happening with the Avengers. He wanted my help.”
The teen froze. Peter just shook his head, “You didn’t, Tony!”
Tony looked sheepish.
“What?” Marinette asked.
Riri rolled her eyes, “That personal problem? It’s called ManHunt.”
“I’m sorry?” Marinette asked. She was going to have to hunt a man?
“It’s a game,” Harley explained. “Team Iron Man versus team Cap. One team hunts the other in a sort of hide and seek type of thing and tries to capture as many members as they can. Last time we played it, Team Cap crushed Team Iron man. It’s why Tony brought us all in. Revenge.”
Said Man didn’t look one bit ashamed, “Rules were since Thor and the Big guy are gone I can bring in whoever I want to replace them.”
Marinette tossed up her hands, “You brought me here to play a game?” Unbelievable.
“No,” Tony said. “I brought you here to take out the Winter Soldier.”
“Say what now?”
“Welcome to orientation,” Was All Tony said to her question.
The kids trained together for a week; Chloe, a girl named MJ who was Pepper’s other interns, and a boy named Ned who was a tech intern, were brought in as well. When it turned out that Kagami was in New York City for a fencing tournament. Tony was happy to bring in the scary girl as well. (And somehow get her mother to agree to let her stay for Spring Break) He made practice stealth and learn hand signals. Tony drilled them on the Team Cap’s strengths and weaknesses. They reviewed videos of previous missions until they had everyone’s fighting style memorized. Tony went over body anatomy aka where the best place to hit them was. They memorized plans and scenarios to take out each specific member of Team Cap.
The teens spent a lot of time in the lab creating gadgets to use against the Avengers. Each one straight out of a spy movie.
As far as Tony was concerned this was War. And there would be no prisoners.
Team Cap consisted of Captain America, The Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, The Falcon, Antman, along with several Shield employees which included Fury, Melinda May, and Coulson.
Team Iron man consisted of Ironman, War Machine, Vision, Maria Hill, The Wasp, Quicksilver, Daisy Johnson, and a bunch of names Stark employees: I.E the interns. (Black Panther refused to participate. Though he and sister would watch from Wakanda.)
Each team had a total of thirty players; no more, no less.
The game would take place at the compound. Anything area within the compound legal territory was free to use. The living room would be home base and were all ‘out’ people had to stay. Until they were freed. Or until every member of the hiding team was captured and then it was Game Over. Everyone could communicate with their own team using special mics; normally only taken out for missions. However, those imprisoned in the home base couldn’t communicate with their team.
On Saturday, just before sunset; the main superheroes of the avengers met up. Tony facing Steve. Rhodey glaring at Bucky. Vision versus Wanda. Hawkeye to QuickSilver. The wasp against Ant-Man and the Falcon.
           Steve smiled, “Tony.”
“You ready for war, Cap?” Tony asked.
“Training exercise,” Steve corrected his husband. “I trust your team is ready.”
Tony smirked, “Oh you have no idea. Your little spies are already hiding in the shadows.”
“Like your team isn’t?”
           The alarm went off.
Tony suited up, “You have 1000 seconds, Steve.” His helmet shut. “I’d get running.”
Steve rolled his eyes. His team split up, running into the growing shadows.
           The game had started.
Marinette waited, hiding in the shadows on the roof. Her ladybug costume was all back with little red polka dots; mostly easy to move around body armor. This wasn’t her actually Ladybug suit; Tikki, while willing to create a new suit design, decided it wasn’t a good idea to involve magic. So Marinette designed herself a new suit, and Tony help her trick it out.
Tony had pointed out the all-good hiding spots located in the Compound. She was the overly large landing pad. She forced herself to stay completely still. Even when she saw the Falcon take flight with WarIron right on his tail.
The smallest of moments caught on the corner of her eye, the glint of metal. An arrow, she realized. She smiled. Hawkeye.
She watched the man take stock of the room, looking in every possible place a person could hide. Unfortunately for him, Marinette had a bit of luck on her side.
“All clear on the roof, Cap,” Clint said into his mic. “I’ll keep a lookout from up here.” There was silence as he listened to Cap’s orders. “Okay. Will do. Stay invisible, got it. Over and out.”
The second the conversation had ended, Marinette through a smoke bomb at his feet. Before Clint could even finish saying, “What the he-” Marinette was on the attack. Using the smoke to her advantage, she swung her yo-yo at Hawkeye’s feet. The String wrapped around his legs, tripping him. Five seconds later, Hawkeye was hogtied on the ground.
Marinette touched her mic, “Tweety Bird down. Bringing him to home base now!”
“Copy that, Ladybug,” Tony said. “Be careful.”
Clint looked up at his assailant; expecting to see Tony or the Wasp, any avenger. Instead what he saw, was a teen girl with a scary blue-eyed glare on his face, “Who are you?”
Marinette leaned down, “Your reckoning.” She hissed.
“What the fuck!” He said as he was thrown over the girl’s shoulder and carried to home base.
When Marinette got to home base, she saw Harley putting a rather put out Falcon on the ground, Spiderman with five webbed up shield agents, Chloe had brought in two, Kagami and Riri brought in six. MJ and Ned both brought in one random shield agent. Marinette tossed Hawkeye on the couch.
It had been twenty minutes, Clint knew by the clock on the wall. Twenty minutes since sunset and the game had started. And they had already lost just over half their team to a bunch of teenagers.
Clint couldn’t help but wonder what the hell had Tony unleashed on them.
“Foghorn Leghorn secure,” Harley said into his mic. “Tweety in his cage. The shadows are all accounted for.”
“I’m Tweety,” Clint told Sam.
Sam paused. “…Am I Foghorn Leghorn?”
“Wasp and Vision on their way with The Blue Fairy,” Tony’s voice rang their ears. “They’ll play guard dog. QuickSilver is down; Miss Tuffit got him. Seven minions gone; Captain Hook and his jolly crew got them. Over and out.”
“Queen Bee, MJ, guard the Home base until they get here,” Harley ordered. “Guy in the chair, Mj, back on monitor duty. Fulfill mission Top hat ASAP.” They nodded and left the room.
Top hat was important. The two were trying to hack into Team Cap’s communications, once they did; it was game over.
“The rest of you complete the assignment,” He told them.
Then all split up again. Vision and Wasp arrived with Scarlet witch just as they were leaving. All three avengers gave the kids confused looks as they left.
It would take Marinette another hour before she came across another member of Team Cap. And she didn’t so much as come across, as she did respond to Peter’s cry for help.
“Captain Sparkles!” Peter yelled in their earpiece. “Training yard. I’m trying to hold hi-No I won’t give you back your shield! Hurry! Over!”
“I’m around the corner,” Marinette hissed into the mic as she ran for the yard. When she arrived it was just in time to catch the shield that was flying at her face.
She held the shield tightly in her hand, feeling like Wonder Woman, as she stared down Captain America.
Steve looked at the young girl who had joined the fight, “My shield, miss?” He was aware that Spiderman had landed behind him.
Marinette smiled sweet. Then she launched the shield at him with such brute force, he was lifted off his feet. “The Name’s Ladybug.”
Steve didn’t catch the shield in time and it bounced back to Spiderman.
Captain America glared at the two teenagers.
           Then the fight was on.
Spiderman hits Steve with his shield, distracting him. The shield falling to the ground. Ladybug barges Captain America backwards. Steve shoulders her to the floor. Marinette lands on the ground; pain flaring across her shoulder. Spiderman punches Steve who just lifts him and slams him against the ground. Spiderman raises a fist but Steve twists it. A web shoots out of his hand, the sound of a small explosion fills the training yard.
Marinette takes the distraction to trip Captain America and jump up. As Steve falls to the ground, Marinette uses the electro-shooters that Riri made and shocks the dear life out of him. It wasn’t enough to bring him down but then Peter added in his own shocking web-shooters.
Yet Steve still looked ready for another round of their fight. Marinette quickly picked up the shield and slammed it across his head. Steve Rogers fell forward in a slump.
Spiderman webbed up with quick-drying cement.
Both teens breathed heavily; struggling to catch their breath, tense from the fight. Marinette could even find it in herself to unclench the shield.
“Captain Sparkles is down, over,” Marinette said into the Mic.
“We’re bringing him in, over,” Spiderman added.
There was a moment of silence.
“…What the fuck?” They heard War Machine say.
When Marinette walked in with the shield in one hand and helping Spiderman carry Cap with the other, the avengers present quietly lost their shit. Kagami nodded, where she stood over Fury who looked more pissed than ever before in his entire life. Chloe stood over Coulson, who just looked put out. MJ and Ned looked overly pleased. Their mission had been a success but it only lasted long enough to get Fury and Coulson. After that, Team Cap was smart enough to ditch the communications, figuring something was up.
“Who’s left?” Spiderman asked in the Mic. “Over.”
“Stoneheart,” Kagami answered bitterly, referring to Melinda May, into the Mic so the team could hear them. “She took out Daisy and got away. Hill is after her now.”
“Jon Snow and Miss Tuffit,” Chloe said referring to the Winter Soldier and Black Widow. “Iron Man and WarIron are after Small fry. War Machine has eyes on Miss Tuffet.”
“I’m closing in on Miss Tuffit, over.” War Machine said.
Marinette looked at her team, pressing on her mic, “Guy in Chair, Mj, I want you on Stoneheart’s tail. Spiderman go be back up for the War Machine. Iron Heart, meet me on the Location 12. Over.”
“What are you going to do, over?” Harley asked.
Marinette clenched the shield in her hands, “I’m going to go tell Jon Snow that Winter Is Over. Queen and Dragon with me. Over.”
The battle with the Winter Soldier was epic. The showdown happened in the gym. It turned out they weren’t hunting for the Winter Soldier, the Winter soldier was hunting for them. The second they walked into the gym, the doors closed behind them.
Bucky jumped down from the rafters. He stared at the girls. He had seen them fight. None of them fought with any ounce mercy but plenty of skill. But they were clearly just kids. Just Dames in over their heads. He’d go easy on them. “Shall we, Ladies?”
Ladybug, Queen Bee, Iron Heart, and Dragon shared a look before giggling.
The Winter Soldier only just barely stood a chance.
The girls laid Bucky gently on the floor on home base. He grunted and glared at them.
A few minutes later, Tony and Rhodey walked in with the Black Widow. The last of Team Cap.
           Tony smirked, “Game over.”
Rhodey shook his head, “Record time; two hours and four-two minutes. Beats the last one by about seven hours and sixteen minutes.”
Then they debriefed. Video of the fights and footage was seemed was shown so everyone could see where they could improve. The image of tiny Ladybug clocking Captain America in their head with his own shield was rewinded and watched seven times.
Tony fell over laughing, “I’m putting on Youtube!”
“I will divorce you!” Steve snapped but couldn’t fight the smile on his face.
Once The random agents of shield and Stark industries left, Steve glared at Tony. His team had gotten demolished. In record time. “You brought in outside heroes, that’s not fair.”
“No,” Tony laughed. “I brought employees of Stark Industries as agreed upon. Everyone meet WarIron,” Harley lowered his helmet. “Iron Heart,” Riri lowered his, “You know Spiderman already,” Peter took of his mask and waved. “MJ, and Ned” Both teens nodded. “Ladybug,” Marinette took off her mask. “Queen Bee,” Chloe glared as she removed hers. “Dragon!” Kagami took off her black mask. “The interns. Otherwise known as the Young Avengers.”
“Oh, fuck you too Stark,” Clint complained. “Did you see what they did to poor Bucky. He’s the deadliest assassin in history, and I felt they went a little rough.”
Bucky nodded with a wince, “Can I have my arm back.”
Steve looked at the bluenette still holding his shield, with a charming smile.
Kagami glared. She held the metal arm like trophy. “Spoils of War.”
           Marinette giggled.
Being a intern was going to be fun.

Being A Stark (11)- Peter Parker x Reader
Word Count:1955 Warnings: Nothing I can think of Author’s Note: So was I planning to leave for a few months and not write? No. Did school kick my ass for a bit? HELL YEAH. But I have the next chapter already written so hopefully you won’t have as much of a wait! Let me know what you think/if you want to be tagged.
Tumblr media
“Nana! Pops!” You fall into your grandparents arms and hold on. You haven’t seen them since the Blip. They aged in the five years you missed, so you can only guess that they didn’t Blip.
“Hi sweet girl.” Your nana’s voice is like music that you haven’t heard in a while.
“Hi Nana and Pops!” Morgan says, or rather yells, as she also runs over to give a hug to the two people she’s never met. Your grandparents look at the little girl that has wrapped her arms around their legs in surprise. They look to you for an explanation.
“This is my little sister Morgan.” You scoop her up.
“I want to go back to my grandparents.” She whines, trying to get out of your arms.
“Maybe in a moment Morguna.” Your dad comes over and takes your sister into his arm. “You, me and Mom are going to go to the table while we give your sister a moment with… Nana and Pops.” He pauses before saying your names for them, not wanting to tell Morgan that they’re not technically her grandparents. Pepper just gives you a smile before walking away with your dad and sister.
“Your sister thinks we’re her grandparents too?” Your pops asks, smiling softly.
“We haven’t really explained that we’re only half siblings, since Mo-Pepper adopted me and stuff.”
“Calling her mom isn’t going to hurt us. Our daughter has been gone for twenty years. She lost her chance to be a mom when she chose drugs and alcohol over her baby.” Nana states and Pops nods in agreement.
“Morgan just knows me as her sister. We have the same parents as far as she knows so when I said that Nana and Pops lived in Queens, she just assumed that you were her grandparents too.”
“What about Tony and Pepper’s parents? Won’t she be confused on why she would have three sets of grandparents if we are also her grandparents?” You shake your head, thinking back to when your dad explained about his parents.
“Dad’s parents were killed back before I was born. So Morgan technically only has one living set of grandparents. It’s where she and I differ because I technically get two sets because I get Mom’s and you guys.”
“I think we can manage to have another grandbaby.” Nana says softly. “We’ve got plenty of love in our heart for another kid.”
“Good, because I think she might have cried if we told her you weren’t her grandparents. She was excited the whole ride over here about meeting her other grandparents.”
“Let’s go meet our new grandchild.” Your pops says with a smile, his arm wrapping around you as you walk towards the area where your family had walked off too.
“Nana, Pops, over here!” Morgan calls from her seat next to your mom where there are two open seats waiting, presumably for your grandparents. Your dad motions for you to sit next to him on the other side of the table. You sit down next to your dad, smiling at him before you glance at the menu. You’ve been to this place a few times, but not since the Blip happened. There’s a few items missing from the menu, but also a few new ones taking their places. Morgan starts chattering away to your grandparents as they sit down. They glance at the menu, but are paying more attention to Morgan then their choice of what to eat. You can see the pull that is impossible to feel when near Morgan. You love your little sister so much.
Dinner passes easily, your grandparents listening to the stories Morgan wants to tell them. Through lunch you can see your grandparents treating Morgan in the same way they had treated you growing up. They listen to stories, share some of their own, and give a lot of love and support where needed. Morgan loves so big and so easily. It’s hard not to love her. You know this from experience. It took mere moments to fall in love with your sister, so it’s unsurprising to you that your grandparents also love her too.
Your parents and grandparents still seem hesitant around each other. They speak to each other in light but cautious tones that make you wish they could just learn to accept each other. You love all of them so much that you wish they would just be family instead of being hesitant strangers around each other. Pepper seems to be making more of an effort than your dad, but on the other side of the table it’s the same with your Nana making more of an effort than your Pops. Something about the men in your life makes them hesitant around each other. But you’ll just keep pushing them towards each other and hopefully one day they’ll be like the family you always dreamed of.
“Next time, you’ll have to come over so I can show you my Barbies and my Avenger action figures. And you can meet Finn. He loves to cuddle and play fetch. Ok?” Morgan asks as she cuddles into Pops’ arms for a hug.
“That sounds like a fun day Morgan.” You listen to this as your Nana holds you for a hug.
“You’re alway welcome to come over if you need to escape the limelight of being a Stark.” Your Nana whispers in your ear. “Especially if it comes down to people sharing your personal information in the press again.”
“I know. I love you.”
“I love you too babydoll. We haven’t moved. Your key still will work.”
“I’ll remember that.” You kiss your Nana’s cheek. “I love you lots.”
“Love you to the moon and back babydoll.” Morgan is reaching for your Nana so you switch grandparents.
“I love you Pops.” You say as you curl into his arms, taking in the scent of him- earthy and tobacco from the pipe he smokes occasionally.
“I love you too sweet girl. Always have, always will. You’ll always be our first grandbaby. Nothing changes just because we have another little love now.” You curl a little further into your Pops arms.
“Maybe we can take Morgan to the planetarium one day. Share space with her too.” You say softly.
“That sounds like something that would be fun. Maybe we can bring your dad along too. Since he’s been to space.” Pops suggests, trying to be civil towards the man that you clearly love, even if he took you from him.
You reply honestly as you say, “he’d probably love that.”
From across the way, Pepper and Tony watch as their kids hug the grandparents that one of them spent fourteen years of her life growing up with. They owe a lot to these two people, especially since they’re loving a kid that they have no actual relationship with as if she’s their grandchild. But more than anything, they played a major role in bringing you into this world. Without them, there would be no you. And both Pepper and Tony are in agreement, the world needs you in it.
“We’ll see you later lovebug.” Nana says to Morgan as she sets her on the ground.
“Pinky promise?” Morgan asks, not wanting to say goodbye yet. But Nana holds her pinky out to your little sister.
“Pinky promise.” You watch this interaction from inside a side hug from your Pops. You’re not totally ready to say goodbye either. But you also know that you need to go pick up Peter before it gets too late. It’s already almost seven and if you wait much later, he’ll be getting back to Queens really late after hanging out with your family tonight. So being the big sister Morgan needs right now you reach a hand towards her.
“Come on Momo, we have to go pick up Peter.”
“Really? We’re picking him up? He’s not just going to meet us back at home?” You nod your head.
“It wouldn’t make sense to have him meet us at home because we’re like ten minutes from him right now.”
“Can we see where he lives?” You look towards your dad on that one. You had been expecting to just have Peter meet you outside his apartment.
“We can see the building where he lives Morguna.”
“Does he live in a house like us?” She asks as you start to walk towards where Happy is parked. She turns around to wave at your grandparents who are walking in the other direction. You wave too as they wave back at you all.
“Peter lives in an apartment building. Do you remember when we talked about what those are?” Your mom asks.
“Yeah it’s stacks of houses on top of each other.” Morgan says as you all climb in the car. You sit down next to Morgan and after buckling in, you text Peter that you’re headed to pick him up. You’ve missed him. It may have only been a few hours since you saw him in the hallway at school, but you’re so used to being with him all the times that you can be with him, especially on Fridays, that your heart misses him from being away from him.
You realize, you’ve never felt this way about someone before. Sure you’ve had friends and other significant others that you don’t like missing days from, but only a few hours? Never.
“You’re rather quiet back there.” Your dad says from the passenger’s seat, where he’s forced to sit until he gets approval to drive.
“Just thinking.”
“About a certain teenage boy?” Tony’s eyebrow raises at you.
“I mean we are going to pick him up. Is there something else I should be thinking of?”
“I don’t know, maybe the convent I should have sent you to before you got together with my teenage mentee.”
“You would miss me too much to send me away.” You kiss his cheek before climbing out of the car. You’re pretty sure your dad said something in response, but you don’t hear it as you walk up the stairs to Peter’s building. You don’t get to come here that often because of school and a certain protective parent, but being in Queens always makes you feel like being home again.
Practically floating up the stairs, you make your way towards the door you know Peter will be behind. You wave at his neighbor walking into their own apartment before knocking on the door. And a smile illuminates your face when the door opens.
“Hey Y/N!” Your smile is contagious because Peter can’t stop either.
“Hi babe.” Peter steps into the hallway, looks both ways to see no one else is there, and then pulls you into his arms before placing three quick kisses on your lips. “Mmm.” You sigh into his kiss. You could stay like this all evening, but you know there is an excited five year old waiting to see Peter. “We should probably head downstairs before my dad comes looking for us.”
“Yeah, probably a good idea.” Peter turns back towards the apartment and calls out. “Aunt May I’m leaving.”
“Have a fun time! Be safe. If it gets late, call me and I’ll come pick you up.”
“I’ll be fine May. Bye!”
“Hi Y/N. Bye Y/N.” May teases as Peter shuts the door. Peter’s hand wraps around yours.
“Family fun night?” He asks as you walk down the stairs.
“Family fun night. I think the plan is a game and then a movie. And Morgan trying to get juice pops at some point I bet.”
“Well I can’t wait.” If you could spend every Friday with your boyfriend and your family, life might be the best.
