@iliumheightnights Hi friend! May I please request a little story? I'd love to read a story about Ben Florian dating a son of the enchantress reader. Reader still is learning magic and Ben helps him when he can and encourages him? All the fluff please?

In some respects, no one would necessarily blame your boyfriend's father for wanting to imprison your mother on the Isle of the Lost.

She did, after all, enchant a young, albeit spoiled, prince and condemn him (an eleven-year-old, mind you) to ten years of suffering and self-loathing in a body not his own.

But no. King Adam and his Queen would never have met if not for the Enchantress.

Besides, they learned well from the example of Queen Leah and King Stefan - don't piss off the magical entity in close proximity.

And so the Enchantress lived within Auradon, and you, her child, were born.

You're not sure you quite approve of the whole Isle of the Lost thing - your mother's punishments tended to get to people before they became irredeemable, so the idea of endless incarceration seems harsh, even by her standards.

But all the same, you are invited to Auradon Prep, mainly to study with the Fairy Godmother to hone your talents in magic. And since you aren't expected to enter a royal line, you don't even have to do some of the more inane Auradon courses.

But who would have thought that without any magic at all, you'd have ensorcelled the heart of Prince Ben.

Ben is just a spot of sunshine in your world, he's so affectionate and lovely.

And supportive!

He's figured out the loophole in the rule that he can't spend all his free time with you by organizing "study dates" in addition to normal dates.

But since magical homework and study is pretty involved, that just means he hangs around in your dorm with you more often than not.

Not that either of you mind.

Except this can sometimes lead to minor mishaps.

You're practicing a spell in the mirror, meant to help disguise someone by changing their appearance.

Focusing on your hair, trying to lengthen it just a little. Just a small test.

But then Ben leaps up to kiss you on the cheek and you wave the training wand just a little haphazardly-

And Ben gets a face-full of your magic.

"Oh my gosh, Ben! Are you okay?"

"Yup!" Ben groans from the floor. "Nothing broken. I think."

He hops back up to his feet, and you gasp.

Your boyfriend's smooth jaw has sprouted patchy growths of hair that are still thickening until they make a rather nice beard and mustache. "Ben... I..."

Ben sees himself in the mirror and grins. "Oh, this is nice!"

"It was an accident."

"If even your accidents are this great, you're gonna be a better wizard than Merlin!" Ben pats your shoulder before stroking his new beard. "It's not even scratchy!"

You blush. "You look really good with a beard."

"Do I look kingly?" Ben asks eagerly, striking a pose.

"You do, but let's try and find a counterspell quickly. Accidental magic tends to corrupt pretty fast. You might end up with the hair changing colors like a chameleon or something."

"That actually sounds kinda-"

"And then I wouldn't be able to see where to kiss you."

Ben instantly gets serious. "Let's hit the books."

"But uh... when you do reverse the spell... Maybe try it on purpose? I wanna see what kissing with a beard is like."

You grin. "Oh really? Why?"

"Cause when you're my Royal Consort, I'll probably grow out a beard and kiss you all the time, so... I wanna see what I'm working toward."

You laugh and then squeeze his hand. "In that case, let's get this thing reversed as soon as we can."

"Love you. My blooming rose."

people didn’t notice you’re in a relationship at first because of the the lack of PDA but after Jay walked in on you two cuddling, everyone knew

likes to go on walks with you and just hold your hand while you both talk about your days

loves when you kiss his freckles, it makes him feel special. returns the favor by kissing all over your neck and sometimes leaves marks (until jay points it out)

Jay

didn’t realize you didn’t like PDA so he constantly had his arm around your shoulders until you told him to stop

once y’all have a conversation about it he’s fine with it, but still forgets sometimes before remembering again

loves getting to hold you once you’re alone, seeing it as some sort of reward for the both of you

the occasional chance that you hold his hand while walking to class is HEAVEN for this guy, he loves getting to show you off to people once in a while, but still cherishes the time you spend alone together much more

Evie

just like the others it takes a bit for her to get used to it but starts to cherish the moments alone with you more than she ever would with the ones in front of people

absolutely adores the amount of affection she receives from you and tries to replicate the exact amount

the other VKs didn’t think you were dating because they thought y’all would be super public until you both fell asleep cuddling on a couch

kisses all over your face and jokes about having you leave the lipstick marks on for fun

Mal

is actually glad your relationship isn’t super public

happy to receive so much affection but is a bit confused by the contrast at first

adores cuddling and kissing in her room away from people

tried to use her magic to erase Chads memory when he walked in on you two sleeping but begrudgingly didn’t when you told her that’s too far

once in a while you hold hands while walking to class, just so other people don’t think something happened to your relationship

Smart one

You were up studying for a test, strange maybe for your other vk peers except for Carlos, but you cared about your academics and liked to do well academically. Halfway through your notes you heard someone start knocking hard on your window, it was Jay Al Jafar, one of your closest friends and the boy you had the fattest crush on. Not like you'd admit that, though. You rolled your eyes as you got up and opened it.

"Man, how many times do I have to tell you not to knock so damn hard, Jay." You scolded as the long haired boy climbed through your window, grinning.

"Yea yea, 'It's held together by broken hopes and dreams.'" He quoted as he walked further into your gloomy room before sitting on the dilapidated footboard of your bed and crossing his arms as he gazed at you with his signature smile. Rolling your eyes again, this time with an additional head shake and a smile. You sat back down at your desk and started your studying again.

"What do you want Jay ?" You asked but it sounded more like a statement, earning a pout from your dark haired friend.

"How lowly do you think of me to think that I came over to see you just because I wanted something from you ?" Jay pouted as he feigned hurt before a charming smile overtook his again as he walked over to the run down desk you sat at

"Very. Now what do you want ?" You questioned again not bothering to look up at Jay, who was now standing next to you, his hands planted firmly on the desk as he looked down at you.

"Anthony got this new watch, I want it." Jay confessed with his signature smile, the smile that you loved hated. "And he's throwing a hellraiser tonight."

"I'm not going to a party just to help you steal his watch." You told him flatly continuing to look down at your tattered text book and notes that smelled of mildew.

"Oh c'monnn, you owe me anyway." Your head snapped up to him upon hearing his words. You didn't owe Jay shit.

"I don't owe you shit, Jay." You asserted pushing back in your chair to cross your arms across your chest. Jay chuckled before moving his face closer to yours.

"Oh come one, just this once ?" Jay pleaded, looking at you with the prettiest brown eyes you swore you ever saw.

Hiding the flustered feeling you feel at his proximity you spoke.

"Oh, just this once ? You know it funny because I remember you said that when you asked me to try to steal one of Cruella's coats ? Oh, or when you tried to steal from Gothel and you got me to distract her ? Oooo, or what about the time you tried to convince me to sneak you into-"

Jay cut you off before you could finish the long list of "Just this once's"

"Okay okay, so it's not just this once but I swear it's worth it."

You stare at him with a bored expression as he talks

"And why is that Jay ?"

"Uh, because you get to spend time with me."

"Get the fuck out Jay."

"Come on, you know you want to spend time with me."

His voice sing-songy

You wanted to spend time with him, bad. Like embarrassingly bad. You'd never admit that though.

"Nah, I'm good."

You rejected

"C'mon... please ?"

Jay begged as he grasped at your hands, and VK's never said "please."

"Fine, but you owe me Al Jafar ."

You asserted as you stood, a finger pointed at his chest

"Yes ma'am."

When you got to Anthony's party it was already in full swing. The lights were dim and moody, the music was blaring and kinda shitty because of the busted speakers that the people of Auradon threw away to the people of the isle, and the air smelled of mold, sweat, and expired perfume along other expired hygiene products. Bodies danced and grinded, others stood in corners and chatted or tried their best look as evil and pretentious as possible.

"What now Jay ?"

You questioned as you looked around at the party that went on before you

"Gotta find Tremaine."

Jay answered as he grabbed you hand and walked into the party.

You felt your stomach leap as he made contact with you, frantically looking down where you two were now connected, then smiled to yourself small-ly

The two of looked around for three minutes tops, Jay still holding your hand, before he turned around to you.

"Can't find him, wanna dance ?"

He offered casually.

"We looked for less than five minutes."

"And we couldn't find him, so do you want to dance."

With a roll of your eyes, you agreed and began to dance.

"Was this your plan all along, Al Jafar ?"

"You really are a smart one, huh?"

I changed my mind for the plot of this fic last minute so I'm sorry the ending is lackluster. Also I haven't written fanfic in years. ISN'T HE JUST DREAMY THO 😍😍

I am slightly miffed about unrelated things: here’s some descendants headcannons

-if a version Rupaul’s Drag race exists in Auradon- Evie watches it solely for the design challenges and Jay will occasionally watch with her because he finds the lipsync for your life entertaining

-they complain about judges critiques together and Jay has a bias for any queen who can do acrobatics

-Gil sews (which is cannon- see Uma’s wicked book) so he ends up taking up a part time apprenticeship with Evie

-Harry has his sisters’ names tattooed over his heart. He didn’t tell anyone, but the lost revenge crew found out because of one of the massive holes in his shirt happened to act as a frame for the tattoos whenever his coat isn’t on

-once he comes to Auradon, he starts modeling for Evie and more people end up finding out about the tattoos and he ends up gaining a reputation in Auradon as a “bad but sad boy” which he has decided not to question…there are numerous fan edits

-while working his way through Vet school, Carlos ends up becoming royal tech support because king beast has zero clue how to use any form of technology and Ben has gotten tired of trying to explain it

-Gil adopted a dog during his and Jay’s travel around the world

-now he and Jay share custody of a perpetually angry looking Pomsky they named Scout

-they go on hiking trips together with Scout as family bonding time

- Mal still gets strawberries as fan gifts and gifts from other royals- castle beast now has a strawberry cellar to compensate for the overflow

-eventually the cellar became so full the “Auradon strawberry festival” was created to get rid of them. This has become an annual event, held the week after Mal’s birthday

- Mal also dresses up lizard Maleficent for special events with Gil and Evie making her little hats to put on the former mistress of evil

-Hades also partakes in this as a way to get back at his ex-wife

- As the unofficial “Queen of the Isle” Uma has to go to royal events, she brings Harry because he keeps the more annoying royals away by simply being himself

-Uma also comes in full pirate captain getup to these events for no other reason than she thinks the looks people give her when she walks into a room with a pirate’s hat and cutlass with Harry Hook on her arm are funny

Do you have any headcanons about the other parents of the VKs?

Evil Queen used Evie as a servant for most of her life, only stopping when she realized how dirty Evie was getting

Cruella tried to train Carlos with a dog whistle and a spray bottle - but with the water on the Isle being so dirty and likely toxic it caused Carlos to get sick. While Cruella didn't care about that, she didn't want to get sick, so she stopped with the spray bottle, and then with the whistle after finally realizing that he couldn't hear it. (The Isle made her a lot more unstable)

Jafar has tried to arrange marriages for Jay with those on the Isle who might be able to have wealth in Auradon, such as the Evil Step-Granddaughters and the Queen of Hearts daughter, but it never worked out. He's tried multiple times to pair Jay off with Mal.

Gaston takes his boys out "hunting"... make of that what you will.

Gaston also managed to bribe one of the Auradon guards to bring over some chickens and a rooster so each of his boys, and himself, can have five dozen eggs a day.

Hans is actually a pretty decent father. If you ignore the fact that he's taught his kid(s) all his manipulation tactics. That aside, he's also taught them how to read, write, mathmatics, history, etiquet, etc.

Smee loves his kids, but he isn't exactly always there for them. Because of this, Sammy took care of his brothers growing up more than his father did.

Anastasia is a good mom. Along with taking care of her own kids, she takes care of a lot of the orphans on the island. And Dizzy has practically become hers.

On a similar note, Drizella is not a good mother and has A LOT of children, all girls. Some of her girls are as high-strung and rotten as she is, but the younger ones (like Dizzy) have become little "Cinderella's".

Surprisingly, Lady Tremaine tried to stop it, but never succeeded.

Ursula taught Uma all the Greek myths and legends, and would repeatedly tell her that one day they'd get off the island.

While he's an amazing father to Celia, Dr. Facilier wasn't the greatest dad to Freddie and does regret it (even if he won't admit it)

Like Hans, Captain Hook made sure his kids knew how to read and write. He also taught Harriet and Harry how to read maps, create maps, as many constellations as he could remember (many drawn out on paper), swordfighting, and pretty much everything that goes along with being a pirate. (He would have taught CJ, but after his wife's death he pulled away from her - CJ looks the most like the siblings mother)

Mother Gothel treats Ginny like a maid, but isn't the worst parent. The worst she's done is drag on Ginny's appearance to make herself look better (which is bad, but on an island of villains, better than a lot of kids get). Somewhere in her, she might love Ginny, but at the end of the day Mother Gothel is an incredibly selfish woman.

(A similar headcanon that can also be true is that Mother Gothel is actually Ginny's grandmother, and Ginny is Cassandra's daughter only Cassandra willingly let her mother raise Ginny in order to protect her as Cass isn't the most popular on the Isle)

The Huntsman has taught his kids everything he knows and they do animal control - they can't really harm the original hyenas who were thrown on the Isle, but they can take care of the never ones.

Morgana kept having children in hopes that eventually one would transform while under the barrier, but it never happened. Over the course of twenty years, she managed to have 15 children and had to open up her own school.

Edgar lives quietly in his very run down apartment in the square where he and his son run an animal grooming business. With how many "evil animal sidekicks" there are, it goes surprisingly well. He has to leave the room whenever a cat comes in, though, so Eddie does a lot of the word.

Yzma tends to conduct very dangerous experiments in her attempt to do magic.

The Stabbington Brothers have raised their children together, so the Stabbington Cousins are really more like siblings. With that said, the brothers have been determined to raise children who will become better thieves than Flynn Rider, and better fighters than themselves. The fighting has gone good, but the they're never satisfied with the Cousins thievery thanks to Jay always managing to beat them.

i'm sure someone has said this before but the love potion plotline could've been a lot less sketchy if they added a throwaway line like "actually you can't force someone to be in love with you BUT you can use a potion to enhance an already existing attraction". ben was implied to be somewhat attracted to mal from the moment they met anyway (even longer if you count him dreaming of her in the books). maybe we could even have mal be able to figure out that he has a crush on her (but he doesn't do anything abt it bcs he obvi doesn't want to break audrey's heart; and then the potion kind of makes him act more impulsively) or something

Isle Kids being off putting or just plain off;

Based on a dc bat family post I can't find.

Jay, Jade, Hermie Bing, and Yzla bending in ways that shouldn't be possible.

Carlos having a way with machines and animals that goes beyond what even his similar minded relatives can understand even from a young age.

Diego, despite being perceived as the 'normal' de Vil cousin, giving off a sense of danger when he smiles at Auradon adults who haven't earned his trust. His song and personality drawing people in like a siren call.

Reza knowing things no human should and having no light behind his eyes.

Evie and Uma having strangely enchanting personalities that draw almost everybody in.

Claudine Frollo, Eddie Balthazar, and Hunter de Vil being so quiet that people often forget they're there.

Harry coming off as unhinged in one minute and a completely normal dude the next.

Cj Hook and Ivy de Vil setting things like water on fire.

Lefou Deux creating toys after just looking at them. Having no idea what goes into them and just making them work somehow.

Hadie talking to what other people can't see even at eight years old.

Red screaming 'off with your head' when angry and seeing nothing wrong with it.

The LeGume brothers being inhumanely strong.

Ginny looking somewhat younger than she is as she ages.

Harry Badun never looking in the mirror.

Zevon being able to make potions out of nothing.

The Stabbington cousins being weirdly in sync to a point where it can't be a gag.

The Smee Twins knowing where the other is and if they're in pain when it should be impossible.

Celia and Freddie being able to convince people of things without much effort.

Dizzy being unnaturally cheerful.

Mad Maddy being strangely attached to dolls and talking to them.

Sammy Smee, Harriet Hook, Anthony Tremaine, and Jace Badun seeing something absolutely wild happen and not even batting an eye at it.

Rick Ratcliffe casually saving someone from drowning before continuing what he was doing without reacting to it.

Clay Clayton not staying down for the count when hurt and finding it fun.

The number of Tremaines and Madam Mim's grandchildren being untrackable because people just keep popping up.

The total number of isle kids being unknown as more and more keep popping up and keep disappearing.

Uma's crew (Jonas, Bonny, Desiree, Gonzo, etc) knowing where she is and believing in her without question when off the isle.

Just. Every single isle kid being strange in some way that anyone from off the isle (and even the isle parents in the early years) find off putting.

And no one knowing why or how.

The isle kids not even knowing they're off putting over half the time.

I do think most of the VKs are queer but in the way that they dont really believe in labels like gay or straight, they just kinda like who they like and their “sexualities” are more preferences than labels, and while some definitely lean harder to one side or the other, most of them dont really see gender when it comes to dating. Uma, however, is for sure the closest thing to what auradon would classify as a lesbian

Random HCs Ben Florian :

He speaks perfect french since beauty and the Beast is set in France. However, he switches to french when he doesn't want to be understood by people or when he s nervous.

He does everything he can to not receive special treatment at school even though it doesn't work.

He loves to learn everything about anything, meaning you can do anything with him, and he will be interested in it.

His favorite school subject is literature.

His favorite animal is a dog.

He's more of an introverted person

his favorite video game is Minecraft because it's calm, and in the game, he's more the builder, the one who builds the houses and decorates with pretty flowers.

He decides to teach at auradon prep once in a while and animates a class.

I definitely see him as the stay-at-home husband if he weren't the king.

He sometimes leaves body hair, kind of like a dog, since he's the son of the Beast (canonically, his dad sleeps on the couch because of that).

In a couple, he's usually the follower as it relieves him cuz he's the king of the USA.

in the beginning of the relationship he didn’t notice your triggers like at all, but once you told him about it because your therapist thought it would be healthy, he completely understands and notices them more

recommends exercises to calm nerves that he used to use when he was afraid of dogs, even though they might not work for you too

Memories: Harry Hook

(That’s right, I’ve done it again, this time in my psych class. Have fun)

Harry has a few memories of his mother. He remembers her watching as his dad taught him to sword fight, how she always called him “kiddo”… and how she was the only person he ever heard say “I love you”

Harry was six when he started hearing things. It started small, hearing someone call his name when no one was there, hearing clock ticking when he wasn’t anywhere near his family’s shop…but then he started seeing things too. As he got older the voices became louder and the visions more clear, he’d always seem out of it, his maniacal laughter scaring people away and seeming unable to focus…but then there was Uma. Uma wasn’t afraid of him, she trusted him, she saw him as an ally, someone to be kept around…Harry liked having Uma around

Harry was ten when his mother died…sickness, a terrible way to go, really. He would always sit with mother while she lied in bed, he’d always tell her about what was happening that day, sometimes even bring her back a little gift that he “bought” from Jafar’s junk shop. His favorite thing he ever got her was a little pocket watch, it was damaged and stuck at 11:30, but it had a little design engraved on the back… a swan craning out it’s neck, surrounded in a frame of vines and roses, he always loved that watch

The day his mother died, Harry sat with her and told her about what happened that day, how he and Uma pulled a prank on Cruella deville and didn’t get caught, how Harriet beat up a guy who called Captain Hook weak, and how he even saw a little dove by the docks…though that one wasn’t real, just him seeing things again. When his mother died, Harry saw his father cry for the first time, Harriet tried so hard to shield him from everything, but there was no hiding him from that. Harry hugged his father tight and tried to tell him it’s ok and that everything will be alright, just like Harriet would do for him…but then the voices came, and it wasn’t just whispering, they were loud and saying terrible things, it eventually got so bad he had to let go of his father and sit in his room with his sisters until it got silent again

Harry was eleven when he gained a reputation. Harriet always told him that if the voices got bad to go find her, but Harry added an extra step, if the voices got bad…play it up, laugh, smile, whatever, just act insane so people stay out of the way. Harry was sixteen when the hallucinations were at their worst. Everyday there were visions of violence and carnage, and the voices…the voices were the worst part, always yelling, always saying horrible, horrible things. Harry’s day always started with whatever strange medications Harriet found on the barges, and ended with him throwing up over the edge of the lost revenge. Uma and Gil would always stay close to him, tell him when what he was seeing was or wasn’t real, guide him away from prying eyes when the visions and voices got bad, and would help sell the act of his insanity…he had a reputation to keep up after all. One voice always stood out from the others, it wasn’t loud or vicious, it was soft and gentle…always saying “I love you”, it was the one voice Harry didn’t mind…reminded him of his mother

Harry was eighteen when he joined his father for a drink. He had indulged plenty of times, always with Uma and the rest of the crew, but never with his father. Harry’s vision of his father had been shattered long ago after he caught his father three bottles deep, swearing him out for a menagerie of things he did or didn’t do through mournful cries, though Harry didn’t really hold it against him…he knew his father was just trying to numb the pain of well, everything. The barrier has been down for a few months and Harry was getting overwhelmed, Auradon was a lot to take in and the hallucinations weren’t helping. On a crisp autumn night, Harry went down to the Jolly Rodger, sat down next to his father, and took a swig of rum. The two men talked through the night, about Auradon, Harry’s visions and the voices in his head, and about all the things Hook tried to numb, the pain of losing his wife, the pain of his oldest daughter growing up to fast, the pain of his only son hearing and seeing things that weren’t there, and the pain of his youngest daughter never truly knowing her mother.

That night, Harry barely slept, his mind was rattled by the rum and the voices were so loud, and yet, he could still here one… “I love you”

The VK’s favorite foods because I did this with Ninjago and had a lot of fun (plus it did well lol.)

Mal - Mal’s favorite food is strawberries. They say this, like, 100 times in canon and I can’t ignore it even if I find it dumb.

Evie - Evie doesn’t have a great relationship with food. EQ rarely let her eat anything, especially if it was high calorie. In Auradon, she had to teach herself how to eat and enjoy it. Although she is much better now, she still occasionally feels guilt eating high calorie foods, so I don’t think her favorite food would be anything like that. Honestly, I think if you asked her what her favorite food was, she wouldn’t have an answer. Food is still a tough spot for her and she’s always worried that whatever she says could be taken as either gross and unhealthy or dangerous and worrying for being too healthy. I feel like she really like smoothies, though, and enjoys trying different combinations of fresh fruit. Found out she enjoys coconut a lot. Also, I think she’s vegan. Now that she has plenty of food at her fingertips, she wants to be eating food good for the environment and protecting the animals (plus it means she can knock out a lot of food she feels is “too unhealthy” just by being vegan, but she doesn’t mention that part).

Jay - We learn he likes pizza with the tourney team a lot, but I feel like he more prefers that because of the social environment rather than the food itself. I feel like Jay really enjoys eating foods from his culture in Agrabah. Shocking absolutely nobody, more cultural foods didn’t show up a lot on the Isle, and in Auradon, Jay got to lean a lot more about his culture in Agrabah, and learned to love the food there. I’m not going to give a specific food because I don’t know a lot about the cultural foods in the middle east and don’t would rather give no exact foods than give a stereotypical answer. If you know more, feel free to give your thoughts and fill in my knowledge gaps!

Carlos - Chocolate (specifically chocolate peanut butter cups.) Again, this is canon even if I don’t love the answer.

Uma - Can we talk about the fact that a part octopus person serves fish at her restaurant? I know this is kinda unrelated, but it’s still weird af. It honestly makes my choices so much harder because, like, would she eat fish? Would that be cannibalism? How does that work? I don’t know and I don’t really care. What I do know is octopi eat clams and I feel like Uma would like those so that is her favorite food now. I make the rules, sorry.

Harry - Part of me really wants to say calamari solely for the look on Uma’s face, but I don’t want this post to be quite that morbid lol. I do feel like he enjoys the fish they catch around the docks, though. I feel like his favorite food, though, would be bacon. The crunch, the flavor, the manliness of eating strips of dead pig like a snack, if fits Harry well. That and, like, beef jerky. In summary, he’s a psycho lol.

Gil - He canonically likes eggs. Again, I’m just saying what canon says, although I actually feel like eating just eggs fits his character a lot lol.
