Which Lord of the Rings characters say fuck:
Aragorn: definitely says fuck, and has to catch himself and tone it down when he becomes king
Boromir: yes. "They have a fucking cave troll."
None of the hobbits do; at least, not at first. Pippin picks up swears from Boromir, and Sam will swear under duress
Gimli: swears all the time, but mainly in Khuzdul. He definitely tries to teach Khuzdul swears to Legolas
Legolas: swears very rarely, and usually in Sindarin, which sounds so pretty that it goes unnoticed. Gimli often tries to goad him into swearing
Gandalf: knows all the swears, but doesn't say them
Galadriel: used to swear when she was younger, but that was thousands of years ago, and she no longer does.
Eowyn: swears constantly. every other word.
Faramir: swore once, and still regrets it.
Gollum: doesn't know any swears, but would say them if he did.

nothing, just tolkien originally writing down the hobbit because his son christopher kept complaining that he'd change the details from night to night and then christopher later being so crucial in taking tolkien's notes and turning them into fully written novels of worldbuilding. loving someone to the point of creation and then having them help you finish the job.

it's fascinating that those biphobes compare women liking astarion to women liking legolas and they mention a popular post that says "I never understood why so many straight women are into legolas. what do you think he is going to do? top you?" they bring this post up like some sort of proof "haha. so right. so true."
EXCEPT the notes on that popular post are filled with THOUSANDS of women commenting "no. I am gonna top him" and "bold of you to assume women can't top" and a lot of them are bisexual women commenting "I am bi and I only like men who look like a girl lol" honestly relatable Lmao
they act like that shitpost is pointing out some truth about how those women are silly. but the replies on that post show the stupidity of that assumption. people really don't get that feminine looking women don't just want to be rough handled by some masculine dude. and people have varied tastes and sexual desires. there is so much misogyny all tangled up in the biphobia. but it's subtle in a way that they don't notice their views on these matters are flawed because even when we point out what's wrong with these gender essentialist stereotypes, they ignore it and treat it as a joke "haha you all act like we wanted to behead bisexuals"

Yk what cracks me up is that the Council of Elrond isn’t even an organized event planned years in advance or anything. It’s just like…the messengers of a bunch of world leaders with a bunch of different problems coming to Elrond for advice but coincidentally they all get there at the same time,,,,
It’s hilarious. Elrond sitting them down like schoolchildren at a history lesson to explain how all their problems are connected. The random forming of the fellowship bc it’s a bunch of strangers prepared to go take a message back home but instead they get sent on a quest to save the world,,,,
Just the chaos of it all. The way literally everyone’s initial response to their problems was “let’s go ask Elrond.”
“Let’s go as Elrond” is the middle earth equivalent of “google it” and I think that’s great.

Spare a thought for the cartographers of Pelargir who had to throw out literally every map ever done of their lovely, simple, flat Middle Earth because now the whole fucking thing has been stretched around a globe (???) and this fucking Merenor guy has come up with this infuriating cylinder projection that, whilst vital for nautical maps in order to keep every line as a constant bearing, now means you have to draw the Forodwaith like 35% bigger than it actually is and you’re sure the religious trauma is bad for some people and okay there’re two new kingdoms now and Numenor is destroyed or whatever but you REALLY don’t have time to think about that because you’ve gotta fucking REINVENT THE WHEEL OF CARTOGRAPHY suddenly at the ripe old age 210 because some jolly mathematician in Umbar confirmed using two pillars 158 lár apart that the shadows are different lengths at the same time of day now, which means not ONLY has Arda become round, but we have an approximate circumference of about 4153 lár WHICH IS A FIGURE YOU NEVER THOUGHT YOU’D BE ABLE TO GET and now you owe that blasted Elvedui fellow 200 castar over a drunk bet you made 100 years ago that Arda was only 2000 lár long from west to east that you didn’t actually believe you just thought it was funny when he got so angry about it TRULY!! You are suffering more than Turin Turambar right now.

'Riders!' cried Aragorn, springing to his feet. 'Many riders on swift steeds are coming towards us!' 'Yes,' said Legolas, 'there are one hundred and five. Yellow is their hair, and bright are their spears. Their leader is very tall.'
I am very disappointed that noone has reblogged this yet. This is one of my favourite exchanges in this Book, and one of my favourite Legolas moments along with “I’m going to go find the sun”. Show-off (affectionate).
