You can’t tell me the idea of Curvo going ‘shit I have feelings for this woman that must mean I’m in love, gotta get married then’ isn’t 100% accurate.

Of strategies and seductions.
Maedhros : You should try to get along with our cousins; they are kind and nice to us.
Maedhros : Angaráto has been stressed these last few days, maybe you could go see him and comfort him.
Caranthir : In his chambers?
Maedhros : What?, Why would you go to his chambers?
Caranthir : To seduce him, of course, and get him to ask for my hand from Atar who will accept his proposal, then we will marry, and thereby gaining dominion over the house of Arafinwë.
Caranthir : I must admit that political marriage is a strange strategy but it worked quite well with you and Findekáno.
Maedhros: What the fuc-
Maedhros : Carnistir, Number one; no one would ask you to seduce one of our cousins.
Maedhros : Number two; I'm not married to Findekáno because of politics, I really love him.
Maedhros : And number three, do you like Angaráto?

Yk what cracks me up is that the Council of Elrond isn’t even an organized event planned years in advance or anything. It’s just like…the messengers of a bunch of world leaders with a bunch of different problems coming to Elrond for advice but coincidentally they all get there at the same time,,,,
It’s hilarious. Elrond sitting them down like schoolchildren at a history lesson to explain how all their problems are connected. The random forming of the fellowship bc it’s a bunch of strangers prepared to go take a message back home but instead they get sent on a quest to save the world,,,,
Just the chaos of it all. The way literally everyone’s initial response to their problems was “let’s go ask Elrond.”
“Let’s go as Elrond” is the middle earth equivalent of “google it” and I think that’s great.

you know i think the funniest thing about sauron/mairon is that he has been described as “fair” 7 times in the book, higher than any other characters including luthien, and she is supposedly the most beautiful woman in that fictional universe,, like somebody actually did a count on it

The Silmarillion fandom is collapsing.
Has anyone else noticed a lot of people leaving the silmarillion just general Tolkien fandom? Especially on tumblr. One of my favourite Silm blogs deleted their whole account and just disappeared. I’m seeing a lot of amazing creators put out their farewell statements. I absolutely don’t blame anyone who is choosing to leave and especially if it’s just because they’re not happy anymore or are moving on to other things. But I’m noticing that a lot of people are being very negative and some creators have explicitly stated that this has impacted them leaving and losing love and interest for something that once made them so happy because of all the negativity aimed at them. It’s so sad. Also wtf this is a hobby and some people are so demanding with creators like they’re not creating things unpaid and in their free time. Hating on people for what they love and find comfort in or calling them weird for liking and having different takes on certain FICTIONAL characters is disgusting and you’re absolutely the problem if you do that.
To any creators seeing this I just want you to know how much your work is and contribution is appreciated. Especially since it’s not that big of a fandom on here.

Actually, the second and third kinslayings cannot rightfully be called unjust. In both cases the victims were presented with morally affirmed terms and had no justifiable reason to refuse: yet they did.
Who is to say all the victims were innocent? Who among them attempted to return the silmaril to its rightful owners? Is every bystander not somehow guilty of retaining the jewel?
I hate the apotheosis — literal — of Elwing, when she was not technically justified in her decisions. Am I saying it was okay, what Maedhros and his brothers did? No. But I’m not saying it was right what the people of Sirion did, either.

Of the reunion in Valinor.
Celeborn : So, who is this guy you're dating?
Maeglin : Oh valar, are you serious?
Thranduil : Very seriously, we must know who is courting with our little cousin.
Maeglin : ...
Galathil : Spoiler alert, he is a Fëanorian.
Celeborn and Thranduil : What!?
Celebrimbor, entering the room at a moment's notice : Hey babe, I need your help with some things in the forg-.
Celeborn : Tyelpë!?
Thranduil : oh, that Fëanorian. Honestly you could have done worse.
Celebrimbor : I beg your pardon?
Galathil : You are forgiven boy.
Celeborn : II think my blood pressure is low, I need to sit down.

I always felt that Elros was closer to Maglor and Elrond to Maedhros, because Maglor needed a king and Maedhros, a healer.
