"How long were you there?"
"Is that you trying to ask how old I am?" Yelena asked with a chuckle.
"No!" Kate quickly answered. She didn't care, really. Though, if Clint was friends with Natasha, and they were kind of the same age, and Yelena was only a few years younger... maybe that would be enough to squash her crush. "Okay, maybe I'm... just curious."

Chapter five
Tumblr media
Three days went by, and Ellie never received any news from Steve. Peggy had promised to keep her updated if she got a signal from the transponder but so far they had absolutely nothing and Ellie was starting to lose hope. Little positivity she had left thanks to her talks with Peggy over the last few days was now gone and she just felt lost and alone. She kept herself busy with her work, tending to the wounded the best way she could, and filling paperwork when everyone was resting. Things were quiet at the camp so far until Ellie heard loud claps coming from outside the tent. She frowned and turned to another nurse who shrugged as a soldier walked in, out of breath.
“We need medics, we have wounded soldiers who need medical attention!” A soldier announced.
“We’re coming.” Ellie simply said, whipping her hands and following other nurses and medics outside.
There were hundreds of men standing near the entrance of the camp, men who had disappeared weeks ago and for a moment Ellie didn’t understand. As people were rushing around her, she went into nurse mode, talking to a few soldiers and directing them to help carry the wounded to the medical tents. Quickly, her instincts took over and she grabbed a bag of medical supplies. She administered pain killers to those who needed it and started to take care of the wounds of others.
For the next few hours, she did her best to do her job, to patch bullets wounds, fix broken bones or tend to sick soldiers but her mind couldn’t help but wonder about Steve or Bucky. Where were they? Did they make it back? She hadn’t seen any of them and a part of her was still scared that neither of them had made it back.
“Leah, can you keep an eye on everyone for a minute?” Ellie wondered, looking up at her friend who simply nodded.
Ellie finished up a bandage on a young man, barely in his twenties before she stood up and walked to the entrance of the tent. She gave a quick glance around, the most seriously injured soldiers had already been taking care of and she needed to check on the others, but she also needed to find Steve. She needed to ask him about Bucky, she knew there was a chance he would bring back bad news, but she had to know.
“Hi, have you seen Steve Rogers?” Ellie asked the first soldier she crossed path with outside the medical tent.
“He was with Colonel Phillips, near the entrance of the camp.” The soldier explained, pointing out at the big tent and Ellie nodded.
Ellie thanked him, looked around and made her way through the small crowd still reunited. Her heart fastened in her chest; concern visible on her soft features as she searched for the captain. When her eyes landed on his dirt covered face, she let out a loud sigh she didn’t know she was holding. He was there, alive.
“Steve…” Ellie muttered, and the super soldier turned to her, a smile spreading on his lips. “Steve, is he…” But she couldn’t finish her sentence, her throat tightened at the thought of Steve telling her Bucky was gone for good.
Instead of replying, Steve moved a step to the side to let Ellie’s eyes fell on her brother. Bucky was there, dirty and smelly but alive. Her hands flew to her mouth, and she let out a sob.
“Bucky…” Ellie sobbed as she rushed to him, and he pulled her into a hug. For a moment they stayed like that, hugging each other. “I… I thought I’d never see you again…” Ellie admitted, stepping away a little and whipping her tears, sniffling a little.
“You won’t get rid of me so easily. We Barneses are tough, remember?” Bucky smiled, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “But what are you doing here?” Bucky frowned, a little confused.
“I graduated early. I’m officially a nurse.” Ellie stated as she observed Bucky a little closer. He was pale and weak, there was no doubt in that, but what got her worried was the sound of his breathing. “You’re sick.”
“I’m fine, Ellie.”
“No. You’re not. You need some medical attention, Buck.” Ellie observed and glanced at Steve. “Tell him to stop being so stubborn.”
Steve raised both his hand. “Hey, he always listened to you more than me.” He smirked but gave Bucky a knowing look.
“Okay, okay. Fine.” Bucky finally said with a sigh. “But I’m telling you, I’m fine.”
Ellie gave him a look, the one that resemble so much of the one their mother used to give him all the time, that he didn’t argue more and followed her to her own personal tent. He dropped on the camp bed. He was exhausted, struggling a little to breathe, but he would never tell Ellie she was right. Steve stayed in the entrance of the tent, not wanting to invade Ellie’s privacy.
“Okay, take of your shirt.” Ellie told her brother who did as he was told. She tried not to pay attention to the multiple bruises on his chest and grabbed a stethoscope, pressing it against his chest. “Take a deep breathe.”
Bucky took a deep breath but starting coughing, wincing at the pain in his lung. Ellie placed the stethoscope around her neck and touch his neck and forehead. He was burning up.
“You’ve got pneumonia, Buck. I’ll go grab some medication, you laid down and get some rest.” Ellie ordered and before he could reply, she walked out of the tent, Steve hot on her tail.
“Is he gonna be okay? He was in a lab of some sort when I found him.” Steve explained to Ellie, his hands resting on his buckle.
“He’ll be fine, he just need rest, a lot of it. Even if he says he’s fine.” Ellie took a bag and put a few needles, penicillin and other medications in it before she turned to Steve, hesitating a moment. “Do… Do you know what they did to him?”
“No. Not really. He didn’t talk about it. They were put to work, that’s all I know.”
Ellie nodded and for a moment silence set between them. Ellie’s mind went back to that kiss, the one she had initiated when she thought she would never see him again, and now that he was back, she felt awkward. And so did Steve. He didn’t have much time to think about what had happened between them before the plane ride and yet now that he was right in front of her, he couldn’t think about anything else than kissing her again.
“We should…” Ellie pointed at her tent.
“Right, yeah.” Steve nodded.
The captain followed her back to her tent where Bucky was now laying down on the bed, half asleep, his mind racing through what had happened to him over the last few weeks. However, as soon as Ellie passed the doors of the tent, he put a smile on his face. The smile was a fake one and both Steve and Ellie noticed as they exchanged a glance.
“I’ve got some penicillin and some antibiotics. That should help you.” Ellie said softly, sitting on the side on the bed.
“You know how much I hate needles.” Bucky pouted like a five-year-old boy.
“I know, but it’ll make you feel better, I promise.” Ellie explained, stroking his arm.
“Fine, make it quick.”
Ellie pulled a needle out of the bag, sterilized it and as gently as possible she administered Bucky with what he needed. She bent down and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
“Get some rest.” Ellie whispered.
It didn’t take long for Bucky to fall asleep, and Ellie stared at him for a few minutes, he looked so small… She stood up and walked to Steve who was unusually quiet.
“Thanks for saving him…” Ellie looked up at the captain and Steve simply smiled softly. “And for coming back.”
“I told you I would.”
“I know but I thought…” Ellie went quiet for a second and shook her head. “It doesn’t matter. You’re both safe.”
Steve nodded and pulled her into his chest. She snuggled against him for a moment, silence settling between the two. Things were a little awkward between them and for a moment Ellie was worried she had messed up everything between them. Why did she have to kiss him? Why couldn’t she just act like she always did with him? She finally pulled away and glanced at her brother.
“Just keep an eye on him, will you? I have to go back to the medic tent.” Ellie asked Steve.
“Of course.” Steve said, a soft smile on his lips and he watch Ellie walked out.
****
Weeks passed by quickly after Steve saved all those soldiers and he had brought Bucky back. Bucky had recovered from the pneumonia he had caught in Azzano and to Ellie’s surprise he had recovering faster than she expected. In barely two weeks, he had almost fully healed but Ellie still insisted on him resting, which he refused to do.
For the most part of that time, Steve had been busy with Peggy, some of the officers he had rescued and Colonel Phillips planning operations. From the little Ellie knew, he was now part of the fighting team going against Hydra, the Nazi Scientist Division and even if she worried of what it meant, she was relieved he was busy.
Ellie missed him, but since their kiss, she couldn’t keep Steve out of her mind. She wasn’t ready to face what she had done or what she felt for him, and she did her best to keep herself occupied and avoid Steve, which turned out to be easier than she thought as both of them were so busy. She knew she would have to face him at some point, to tell him why she had kissed him, but truth was, she was scared of telling him. She didn’t want things to change between them, she didn’t want to face the fact that she may have ruined their friendship.
Now back in London, Ellie was working in the same building as Steve and Bucky, but luckily their path didn’t cross much and when they did, she always found an excuse to leave. Bucky on his part had noticed something was up with Ellie, he knew her all too well not to notice, but he never pushed or never asked. However, Bucky wasn’t dumb, he knew how her sister felt about Steve, and he suspected something had happened for them to end up avoiding each other.
“Are you coming for a drink?” Peggy’s voice pulled Ellie out of her thoughts.
Ellie raised her head to look at Peggy, looking absolutely gorgeous in that tight red dress hugging her curves perfectly. “Wow, Peg you look beautiful.”
“Well, thank you.” The Agent smiled. “And soon you’ll look perfect, and Steve will only have eyes for you. Come on.”
“Peg… I don’t think I’m coming.” Ellie bit down on her lower lips.
“Oh yes, yes you are.” Peggy shook her head and went through Ellie’s small hotel room closet. She pulled out a very simple little pink dress. “Come on put this on.”
Ellie sighed but stood up from her bed where she was sat and grabbed the dress, walking to her bathroom.
“Have you talk to Steve yet?” Peggy asked a little louder from the room.
“To say what? I don’t know what to say, Peg, he’s my brother’s best friend.” Ellie took of her clothes and pull on the dress her friend had chosen for her.
“To say what you feel. I know Steve doesn’t know how act around women, but you have to talk to him.”
Ellie pulled her long brown hair back and walked back to the room. Peggy smiled at her, approving her outfit as she slipped on black shoes. “I guess I’m as bad as he is then.” Ellie admitted. “Look, in just a few days he’s going to be back on the front and I’m gonna be here, in London. What’s the point of telling him anything if he’s gonna leave?”
“So, you can have him when he comes back home.” Peggy simply stated as she gently squeezed Ellie’s hand in hers.
“I’ll think about it.” Ellie promised, giving Peggy a smile.
The Agent nodded and threw her arm around Ellie’s arm. Quickly, they made their way to the neighbor pub Whip & Fiddle near their hotel, the one where Steve, Bucky and a few other soldiers had decided to spend the night. As soon as the two ladies entered the bar, heads turned to look at them and Ellie felt herself blush. She never liked being the center of attention, but she knew Peggy often had that affect on men, she was a beautiful woman after all. Ellie silently followed Peggy to the back of the bar where Steve and Bucky were sat on stools, and she watched as they both leaned back to look at them approach. As soon as they noticed Ellie and Peggy, they both stood up, facing them.
“Captain.” The Agent Carter spoke.
“Agent Carter.” Steve replied, his eyes glancing at her before landing on Ellie, standing slightly behind the Agent.
“Ma’am.” Bucky saluted as looked up and down at Peggy.
“Howard has some equipment for you to try. Tomorrow morning?” Peggy announced as Steve couldn’t take his eyes of Ellie who felt herself blushed even more, pushing a piece of hair back behind her ear and looking down at the floor.
“Sounds good.” Steve replied, glancing quickly at Peggy.
Peggy looked to her right, her eyes falling on the men Steve had chosen to be in his team, where they resumed to their loud singing. “I see your top squad is prepping for duty.”
Bucky looked back and turned back to Peggy, a charming smile on his lips, a smile that Ellie knew all too well. “You don’t like music?”
“I do, actually.” Peggy turned to Ellie and smirked slightly. “And so does she.”
Ellie looked back up, her eyes landing on Steve who still hadn’t taken his eyes out of her. She is so gorgeous, he thought, his heart beating a little faster in his chest.
“We might even, when this is all over, go dancing.” Peggy added, offering a smile to Bucky.
“Then what are we waiting for?” Bucky asked, turning on his charm.
“The right partner.” Ellie spoke for the first time that evening.
Steve couldn’t help but notice this seemed to be aimed at him. Was she referring to the kiss they had shared? Was she trying to say something to him? Steve hadn’t stopped thinking about her since their kiss, he couldn’t and all he wanted to do at that moment was tasting her lips again. He missed her.
“0800, Captain.” Peggy ordered, taking Ellie’s arm back in hers as she started to walk away.
“Yes ma’am. I’ll be there.” Steve said, his eyes following Ellie as she walked away.
The last thing Ellie heard was her brother’s voice saying, “I’m invisible.”
Her heart was pounding loudly in her chest way and when she sat next to Peggy at the bar, she turned to her and shook her head. “What was that?”
“What was what?” Peggy said innocently, smiling at her friend and ordering them a drink.
“That. Saying we’ll go dancing.”
“Hey, you’re the one who said you were waiting for the right partner. But you know, Steve only had eyes for you in there, it was obvious.”
Ellie felt herself blush again and grabbed the drink the bar tender was handing her. “I’ve always felt invisible with Steve, I mean not in a bad way. He’s always been an amazing friend, we’ve always been close, but I never thought…”
“You never thought he could feel something for you?”
“Well, yes.” Ellie admitted, taking a sip of her drink, and looking up at Peggy.
“I think you have to get use to the idea that he does feel something for you though. And you should stop overthinking, just… Go with it.”
Ellie stayed silent for a while, drinking with Peggy before she got tired. Things had been crazy and busy over the last few weeks, and everything that was going on with Steve wasn’t helping Ellie who struggled to sleep. She wished Peggy a good night and walked out of the pub, wrapping her arms around herself to shield her from the cold. She jumped a little when she felt someone dropped a jacket around her shoulder.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” Steve softly spoke, offering her a soft smile.
“It’s okay. What are you doing here?” Ellie pulled his jacket around her.
“I was gonna go back to the hotel. Let me walk you back.”
Ellie smiled shyly. “Sure.”
Steve pushed his hands into his pants pocket as a silence settle between them. It was awkward, and for a moment Ellie’s remembered Peggy’s words: stop overthinking, go with it. Why was it so hard though? Why couldn’t she simply tell him how she felt?
“Are you okay, Angel?” Steve broke the silence, looking at the brunette by his side.
“I’m fine, just tired. It’s been a lot lately, you know.” Ellie admitted, glancing quickly at those blue eyes she loved so much.
“Yeah, I know how you feel. But you’re an amazing nurse, Ellie. I’m glad you were here after Azzano, and I know Bucky was too, even if he’s too proud to say it.”
Ellie chuckled slightly. “It’s Buck, I know he would never ask for help unless he’s dying. He likes to play tough.”
“He sure does.”
Silence fell between them again as Steve and Ellie entered the hotel. They reached out Ellie’s floor and stopped in front of her door before she took of Steve’s jacket and handed over back to him.
“Thanks for walking me back.” Ellie whispered with a small smile.
“Anytime.” Steve hesitated for a second before he spoke again. “You looked beautiful by the way, very beautiful.”
“Thanks.” Ellie placed a piece of her hair behind her ear as she always did when she was nervous and felt herself blush. “Goodnight, Steve.”
“Goodnight, Angel.” Without a second thought, he bent down and pressed a kiss to her cheek. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Ellie nodded and entered her hotel room, biting down on her lower lip. Maybe Peggy was right after all, maybe Steve felt more for her than she thought.

HELP, fanfic finder
So there is this Loki fanfic I read on wattpad. It was about arranged marriage and because she is the only unmarried daughter of some kind of king or lord from another planet, she gets the opportunity to pick between Loki and Thor. Thor is kind of a asshole in the beginning so she picks Loki but he does the movie thing and she is forced to marry Thor (he had his development before that though and leaves her for the most part alone). She gets sent down to try to like have a conversation with Loki and it ends in sex. Odin kinda like figures it out and as punishment, she is wipped (I might have spelled it wrong). Anyway PLEASE help me, I've tried to find it for a few months and can't bear it much longer 😭

maybe I missed this before and its not actually a retcon, but the new Straczynski Captain America comic book made Steve younger— a couple of weeks shy of turning 18 —when he became joined the military met Bucky and became Cap...
idontwanna sound paranoid, but between this and the "One Your Left" line and the superficial mcufanfic-style dialogue Tony got stuck with in this issue😕 , I think I'm starting to understand what that old white man meant when he tweeted that we'd see what his main inspiration for Steve Rogers is. This feels like MCU-ifying. And the Cap #750 issue had Bucky call Steve a "kid" that he followed to like ooohh, they're not slick... I'm seeing the patterns !
Honestly, I thought he was always around 18 but I've never really thought much about it....is there any comic where they mentioned him being older? What did JMS say about the inspiration for his run?
I hated the mcu-ish dialogue for tony, too, especially because JMS has written tony pretty well before (during civil war, no less). I think the cap books are being mcu-fied slowly (I think I noticed some things during remender's run?) and it's weird that it's happening now (especially with #those men in charge) because mcu steve is dead. Also, it was weird to see tony being written that way because he's finally being characterized properly in his own book.
As for steve & bucky's relationship, I don't think marvel will make any weird choices regarding that now that #they aren't writing steve but it's still annoying that we can see mcu influences everywhere lately. I actually liked the first issue & I think it'll be a successful run because JMS is a skilled writer but it could've been so much better, too. What do you think?

Drukkari headcanon: Makkari loves it when Druig reads to her
Word count: 1564
of all of the things that Makkari loves most dearly in this world, only two of them trump her love for reading: 1) Druig, and 2) when Druig reads to her. she discovered the latter one cold night, after she had a particularly bad nightmare.
they were all standing on the beach. they had beat their enemy, but they hadn’t won— Druig was gone. Makkari feels like a shell, her soul empty from the weight of the irreplaceable loss, yet heavy with guilt that she couldn’t save him. she wishes Ikaris had killed her too.
suddenly she feels a familiar heartbeat. at first she thinks she was imagining it. but then she feels it again, more clear this time. no… it couldn’t be. unless…
she turns around reluctantly. her knees nearly buckle at the sight of a familiar figure walking towards her. she can’t tell if he’s real or not, but she meets him halfway across the demolished beach. Druig— her Druig— was stood before her, seemingly fine sans a few scrapes and cuts on his face and a noticeable limp. but those injuries were minor and inconsequential compared to the fact that he was alive, alive for her. his eyes were still bright, his smile was still happy as ever at the sight of her.
she falls into his familiar arms that have come to feel like home. she burrows her head into the crook of his neck and cries, cries for the love they almost didn’t have. cries for the chance at a happy life that was almost taken from them. she squeezes Druig lightly as if he would fade away if she let him go. he strokes her hair slowly, and Makkari can feel him whispering words of reassurance into her ear. the soft murmur of his heartbeat eases her anxiety… he was there.
she forgets how long they’ve been stood like that but suddenly his body feels cold against her. she didn’t notice when his hand had stopped running through her hair and his soft voice had been silenced.
she pulls away and sees his skin gray and his eyes rolled back inside his head. his pale face was covered in dark red blood that oozed out of a deep gash across his forehead. his nose was bleeding and his lips were cut up. Makkari releases an inaudible scream, throwing his limp body away from her.
she jolted upright in bed, drenched in a thick blanket of cool sweat. hot flashes wash over her like waves in a vicious cycle, again and again, as she struggled to manage her breathing. she couldn’t control the stream of tears that escaped her eyes if she wanted to. when the warm tears met the curve of her lip on the way down her face, she was left with a bitter, salty taste in her mouth. her vision was blurred and she could feel her body shaking. she pressed her hands to her face, squeezing her eyes shut with her palms in attempt to rid her mind of the horrific images she had just seen.
Druig heard her hyperventilating next to him and immediately jolted awake. he was out of bed and on the other side of the room within seconds, kneeling on the ground in front of her side of the bed. he placed a careful hand on her knee, shaking her gently to get her attention.
“Makkari, look at me.” he said as he signed her name on her leg, hoping she would understand, hoping she felt the vibration of his voice and knew that he was there.
to Druig’s disappointment, this only made her cry harder, though, her hands shaking where they were pressed over her eyes. she brought her knees to her chest and dug her head in between them, hiding her face from his sight.
panic set in the pit of Druig’s stomach— panic because he wasn’t sure how to calm her down. he hadn’t ever seen her in this state before and he would have been lying if he said it didn’t absolutely terrify him.
he readjusted his position on the floor, shifting closer towards her.
“Makkari, you’re okay. just take a deep breath. try and control your breathing, my love.” he wasn’t sure how to help her. he didn’t know what to say or what to do. but, he knew that breathing helped him whenever he had a nightmare, and so hopefully, hopefully, it could help her too.
his hopes were crushed when she shook her head side to side frantically. she lifted her head slightly to look at him, but she was more looking through him.
“i can’t breathe.” she signed with shaking fingers, finally releasing her hands from her face. there were red marks around her eyes from where her palms were pressed, nails dug into her forehead. Druig’s heart broke at the sight of her resolve. he felt tears rise in his throat, but he quickly swallowed them down. he had to be in the moment with her, not breaking down himself. he knew she was counting on him to be strong for the both of them in that moment.
Druig furrowed his brow and moved every so slightly closer to her, careful as if not to scare or startle her. as painful as it was seeing her like this, as much as he just wanted to wrap his arms around her and never let her go, he knew better.
“no, you’re okay. i promise you’re okay. i’m here.” he gently places his hand on her chest, right near her heartbeat, hoping that the weight of his hand would ground her. “as long as i’m here, you can breathe. you’re okay. okay? i promise.” his voice became softer with each word he spoke. Makkari had never felt his voice this soft, ever. it surprised even Druig himself.
he continued to rub soothing circles around her back, whispering reassuring words to her. eventually, her crying died down, her shaking stopped, and her breathing evened out. eventually, she caught her breath and Druig saw her muscles relax as she started taking deep breaths.
“there you go, come back to me.” he encouraged as she regained her bearings. eventually she unfurled her legs and wiped her face with the back of her sleeve. slowly she released her hands from where she had them pressed over her face, and let them fall into her lap. Druig took this opportunity to hold her hands in his, rubbing random patterns  over her soft, tear-stained knuckles.
after a few moments, or it could’ve been a few hours, Druig didn’t know, he didn’t care— Makkari gave him a nod that said ‘I’m okay now.’ Druig breathed a sigh of relief as Makkari’s eyes met his for the first time that night. he couldn’t control the smile that formed from his mouth from the sight of her. despite her pink, blotchy skin, red eyes swollen from crying, her messy hair, and her face drenched in soggy tears, she looked as mesmerizing as ever. she was, in that moment and always, his beautiful Makkari.
he placed a tender kiss on the back of her hand before rising to his feet, untangling their hands in the process. her skin there became cold from the missing connection of their entwined fingers. her curious eyes followed him across the room as he pulled something out from one of her dresser drawers. between the blurriness in her eyes from crying, and the dark of the night, she could hardly make out the object in his hands.
he returned to his usual spot on his side of the bed. that’s when she saw he was holding a book— her favourite one in particular, about the Chinese Shang dynasty. he stretched out his left arm, inviting her to cuddle. she took the invitation immediately, nuzzling her head into his warm chest. she used the familiar vibration patterns of his heartbeat to ground herself back into reality, back to the four walls of their shared bedroom, back to Druig’s safe arms.
he opened the book and started reading aloud, slowly. although she could not hear his voice, she understood him in different ways. she closed her eyes and let the soothing sound of the vibrations of his voice wash over her. his familiar voice was comforting, and lulled her back to sleep. for the rest of the night, she only saw good dreams.
since then, her nightmares were few and far between, thankfully. Makkari adored when Druig read for her. it was intimate and special. no one else’s voice vibrations were as familiar or comforting for her as Druig’s were. reading was one of her favourite things in the world. now it had become something that they could share, and that made her treasure the pastime even more.
but, for Druig, it was so simple. just read. he thought that was the least he could do for her. he’d do anything to make up for their lost time together. but if that’s what comforted her, then that’s what he’d do. if this small gesture was what she loved, he’d read to her forever.
the spark in his soul from even looking at her, that fluttering in the deepest part of his chest as he felt her fall asleep in his arms to him reading, was irreplaceable. he would read her anything.

Captain Catmerica
Marvel Cinematic Universe - Clint/Coulson - Explicit
Tumblr media
I wrote a fic about a cat adopting Phil.
“What’s this?” Steve asked, tilting the little blue heart-shaped tag in his hand so he could read the engraving.
This is how I die, Phil thought, frozen in place. Of embarrassment in front of Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain America. And Hawkeye’s dog.
“Captain Catmerica,” Steve read out, a puzzled look on his face. His gaze jumped between Phil and the offending cat tag, and Phil didn’t have to look at Tony’s face to know it was filled with glee.
“I knew it,” Tony said, snatching the tag out of Steve’s hand.
“I didn’t name her that,” Phil said, his words weak even to his ears as he sunk down onto the couch.
A cat adopts Phil. She’s smarter than he is.

Chapter two
Tumblr media
The next morning when Ellie woke up, she had barely managed to sleep a few hours because of the nightmares, and she felt exhausted. For a moment she contemplated the idea to stay in bed, but she needed to keep her mind busy, she needed to stop imagining all those scenarios running through her head. So slowly, she pushed herself out of bed, rubbing her eyes before she stepped into the shower. She stayed there for a while, letting the hot water running on her body and relaxing the muscle in her body. She finally stepped out of the show and pulled on a red skirt with a white blouse, put on some light make up and painted her lips of a light red color.
She had slow morning after that. She went to the grocery store only a few blocks from her apartment, to buy a few fruits and vegetables before she walked by the little bookstore at the corner of her street. It was little shop full of old books collected from people who simply didn’t want them anymore. The place was cozy and quiet, and she would often spend hours there just looking at books. She had become such a regular client that the owner and her became friends. After a while, she headed back home and started to cook some lunch when there was a knock on the door. She whipped her hands on her apron and walked to the entrance to find a very cheerful Steve, too cheerfully she thought.
“You never gonna believe what happened.” Steve blurted out before Ellie could even say a word.
“Hi to you too Stevie.” Ellie giggled, rolling her eyes a light.
“Sorry. Hi.” Steve replied, kissing her cheek before entering the apartment.
Ellie was the only woman around which Steve felt so comfortable. He had known her for so long that he could be hundred pour cent himself when he was around her. Ellie would never judge him and wasn’t one to see him differently because he was weak or tiny. In fact, she had always been one of the rare people to treat him exactly as anyone else. She was nice, generous, beautiful and yet he knew better than to push her buttons. She was strong headed when she wanted to.
“It smells good.” Steve observed with a smile.
“I’m making some soup. You can stay for lunch if you want. I bought a piece of this bread you like so much.”
“Okay, I’m sold.” Steve snorted as she glanced up at her, his eyes falling in hers.
“You seem very… Joyful. Are you in love or something?” Ellie walked back to the kitchen and started to cut two pieces of bread.
Steve let out a laugh, one of those laughs Ellie loved so much, the one which made her stomach tightened. “No. No, I’m definitely not.” He said as he grabbed two balls in the cupboard to set the table.
“I’m all ears then.”
“I enrolled.” Steve announced with a grin on his face as the glass Ellie was holding in her hand slipped and smashed on the floor.
“Wh… What?” Ellie turned to face Steve, her heart pounding in her chest.
“That night at the expo, I went back to try again. A doctor showed up, Doctor Abraham Erskine. At first, I thought I was gonna get caught you know but then he asked me a few questions and offered me a chance. Can you believe it?” Steve explained, the smile never leaving his lips.
“Is this a joke?” Ellie whispered, her voice breaking as her eyes filled with tears.
“No. I’m leaving for training camp in a week. I’ll be part of special force called the Strategic Scientific Reserve. I don’t really know much more for now, but I can…” Steve stopped in his track, his eyes dropping on Ellie’s face who was covered with tears. “Angel, what is it?”
“I… You’re leaving too…” Ellie sobbed quietly, and it hit Steve. He had been so excited to tell her that he hadn’t noticed her breath getting heavier and her tears rolling down.
“You knew I tried again.”
“Of course, I did because you’ve always been too stubborn to take no for an answer!” Ellie spitted out, anger in her voice.
“Hey, why are you angry at me all of a sudden?”
“Because you’re gonna get yourself killed, Steve!”
Steve tensed up a little at the brunette’s words. If there was one person, he was excepting to support him it was her. “You and Bucky really have little faith in me.”
“It’s not…” Ellie sighed, taking a deep breath. “It’s not about faith Steve. Of course, I have faith in you, more than anyone but I… I just…” She stopped and looked down, playing nervously with her fingers. “I already feeling like I’m losing Bucky and now you…”
“Ellie…” Steve whispered, stepping closer to her and grabbing one hand in his, the other slipping under her chin and raising her head. “I have to do my part; you know that, we’ve already talked about it.”
“I know. But I hate it. I really do. I wish you were staying…”
Steve sighed loudly. “I’ll be fine, I promise.”
“You always say that. Why do you always say that?! You don’t even know. Your asthma alone can be a big issue during training Steve. Open you eyes please.”
“I can’t say no, Angel, you know that.”
“You… You should leave… I need to be alone…” Ellie said, pulling away from Steve as his heart sank into his chest. Why was it hurting him so much to see her like that because of him?
Steve didn’t have time to say anything before Ellie walked into her bedroom and closed the door shut. She leaned against the door as a loud sob came out of her throat. She hated this, she hated to think about Steve in a training camp or even on a battlefield. She had made her peace with the fact that she would never be the girl he chose, and she was ready to lose him in that, but she wasn’t ready to lose him completely. If she knew Bucky had a chance to survive the war, she never believed Steve stood a chance. She had faith in him, she believed in him more than hundred pour cents, but not in the war. He had so many health issues, asthma, high blood pressure, heart trouble and she didn’t understand how he had been approved.
“Angel… Please open the door.” Steve voice said from the living room.
“You… You should go home Steve.” Ellie told him, closing her eyes as she sat down on the floor of her bedroom, her back against the door.
Steve sighed, hesitated a few seconds before letting his hand drop from the handle. “You know where to find me if you want to talk.”
Ellie heard his footsteps before the front door slammed shut. Ellie couldn’t move, her body shaken by her sobs, and it took a while she finally calmed down. She was exhausted and felt completely drained. She simply raised to her feet, changed to more comfortable clothes and crawled into her bed. She didn’t have the strength for anything else, not today.
****
As Steve stepped out of the Barnes’ apartment, he found himself upset and he wasn’t sure why. A part of him hated to see her cry as she did when he announced he was joining the army, and the other part of him felt guilty. In some ways, he knew she may have been right. He wasn’t really suited for the army, he wasn’t as strong as Bucky, he probably never would be, but he had to try. If this doctor gave him a chance, then he had to take it, he had to, even if that meant leaving Ellie. Before today Steve had never thought that the simple idea of leaving Ellie behind would be so hard. Sure, they were close, he liked her a lot, he even liked more than he had ever cared to admit, but she had always been off limits. She was Bucky’s little sister.
Steve sighed loudly, pushing his hands into his pants’ pockets as he walked toward Ellie’s favorite flower shop. He had been here a thousand times with her before.
“Good morning, Mrs Hilton.” Steve smiled at the old lady who owned the shop.
“G’morning Steven. You alone today?” Mrs Hilton replied with a soft smile.
“Yes. I was just hoping to buy some flowers, for Ellie.”
“Of course, you do.” The old lady grinned, a look on her face Steve had seen before but never paid attention to.
“I want to, before I leave for training.” Steve grabbed a few of Ellie’s favorites flowers.
“Training?” Mrs Hilton frowned.
“Yes. I’ve enrolled in the army. I’m leaving next week, and Ellie didn’t really take it that well…” Steve admitted, looking up at the lady who shook her head.
“Of course, she did not. How could she?” It was Steve to frown for a moment before the old lady talked again. “That lady loves you very much.”
“I’m her friend.” Steve stated almost as he felt the need to clarify things, but the look Mrs Hilton gave him made him wonder if she knew something more. He shook his head, pushing those thoughts out of his head and raised his hand full of flowers. “I’ll take those.”
Mrs Hilton nodded and smiled softly as Steve was reaching for some money. “No need, Steven.”
“I insist.” Steve handed the money over to her but she shood her head again.
“Consider it as a gift.” Mrs Hilton said with a warm smile.
“Thanks, Mrs Hilton.” Steve put the money back into his pocket and started to walk away.
“And Steven.” Mrs Hilton called, and Steve turned back to look at her. “Don’t wait to long, otherwise it might be too late.”
Weirdly enough Steve understood what she was talking about. He opened his mouth to ask her how she knew, but he didn’t. “It’s complicated.” He simply stated, shrugging.
“It’s complicated only because you make it complicated.”
With those words Mrs Hilton turned around and walked back into her shop, leaving Steve lost in his own thought. Steve didn’t know what to think about what she had just said. He had thought about telling Ellie how he felt, he had thought about it a lot, but every time he found a reason not to. She was too pretty for him; she could never like him as much as he liked her; he was only Bucky’s best friend; he was too small, too weak and Ellie needed a real man; all those thoughts had already crossed Steve’s mind. But then, it was the war, maybe it was his chance to tell her before he left.
Steve reached back Ellie’s apartment but instead of knocking on the door, he dropped off the bouquet of flower in front of the door and left.
****
Three days passed before Ellie had the courage to walk up to Steve’s apartment a few blocks from hers. It had been a lot harder for her to digest the news of Steve becoming a soldier that she had thought, and she had felt the need to be alone for a while. But the truth was, she couldn’t stay away from him; she hated to be away from him, especially after their last conversation. She couldn’t let him leave like this, not without letting him know she wasn’t mad at him, because inside she understood why he wanted to enroll. Standing in front of his apartment, she raised her hand, hesitated a few seconds and finally knocked on the door.
“Ellie? Hi. What are you doing here?” Steve couldn’t hide his surprise when he opened the door and noticed Ellie, beautiful as ever.
“I came to apologize. And to thank you for the flowers, they’re beautiful.” Ellie smiled shyly as Steve stepped aside to let her come in.
“You don’t have to apologize for anything you know.”
“I do. The way I reacted when you told me about your enlistment it was… Well, it was uncalled for. I know how much you wanted this.” Ellie explained nervously.
“It’s fine Ellie, really. I know how hard it was for you to let Bucky go and I…” Steve grabbed her hand, squeezing it gently.
“But you’re not Bucky.” Ellie cut him off, looking down at their hands. She bit her lower lip nervously. “I just thought that with all your health issue you’ll… You’ll never be able to enroll and then you’ll stay with me, here.”
“Ellie…”
“No, just let me finish. Please.” Ellie looked up back at him. “I know it’s selfish but if Bucky never comes back, you were the last person that feels like family and I…” Her voice broke and she sniffled a little, a tear running down her cheek.
Ellie couldn’t imagine losing them both because if she did, she wouldn’t have anyone else. She knew Steve would never feel the way she felt about him, but at least he was her friend.
“Liz… Look at me.” Steve said softly, his other hand reaching up to her chin and raising her head to meet her gaze. “I will come back, we both will. Plus, I’m not shipping out yet, I’m just going to training camp for now. I don’t know how it’ll go but I’ll be back in New York before I can ship out anyway.”
“Just promise me you’ll write to me?” Ellie whispered as Steve smiled softly.
“I promise. And I’ll come see you when I’m back in the city.” Steve stroke her cheek.
Steve pulled her into a hug and Ellie pressed her face into his neck, letting out a soft sob. They stayed like that for a few minutes, in silence, before Ellie stepped away from Steve. For a moment she contemplates the idea of telling how she felt because she was scared, she would actually never get the chance too, but she couldn’t. She was unable to find the words and she didn’t want to ruin everything between them so instead she just decided to spend as much time possible with him before he left for training camp.
“I made you some diner by the way.” Ellie told him, handing over some left over she had brought with her.
“Thanks, you should stay.” Steve smiled and as he always did, he helped her around the kitchen.
Steve set out two balls on the small kitchen table and sat in front of Ellie as she filled them with homemade tomato soup. It was Steve’s favorite, Ellie knew it, and the smile he gave her when he realized made her heart skip a beat. She couldn’t help but imagine Steve at the boot camp and she was scared. Steve was skinny, had a ton of health issues, and for the first time in her life, she really wished he was more like Bucky. She had never cared for all of that before, because she liked Steve for who he was inside, but right now she hated that he was so frail and fragile. Ellie slowly shook her head, not wanting to think about the worse. Instead, they simply ate dinner while making small talk and Steve once more didn’t fail to put a smile on her face.
After washing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen, Ellie took a spot next Steve on the couch in the living room. He had turned on the small radio and was listening to the baseball game. Ellie placed the cup for the tea she was making on the coffee table and smiled at him.
“I think you’ll look great in the uniform.” Ellie stated.
“You think?” Steve asked and Ellie nodded. “I guess we’ll see.”
“I’m sure all the dames are gonna want to go dancing with you now.” Ellie admitted, a small hint of deception in her voice which made Steve frowned.
“I’d settle just for one.” Steve replied, his eyes landing on Ellie’s.
For a second the air in the apartment felt heavy and Ellie was about to say something when the teapot in the kitchen started to hiss. She abruptly stood up and walked back to the kitchen. Did he mean anything when he said that? Ellie wondered. No, of course not, it was something Steve always told Bucky after all. She came back and poured two cups of tea.
“Actually, I have to get up early tomorrow, I should take you home.” Steve said, his hand rubbing nervously the back of his neck.
“Can… Can I stay, please Stevie? I really don’t want to be alone right now.” Ellie admitted, her hand dropping on the soon-to-be soldier’s arm unconsciously and just the thought of being without Steve made her heart ache.
Steve hesitated a few seconds, but he knew full well he was done, he had never been able to say no to Ellie, and he probably never will be. “Okay. I’ll stay.”
Ellie simply smiled and handed him a cup of tea. As conversation naturally started, the tension in room slowly disappeared and things started to feel normal again. Steve told Ellie exactly what had happened the night of the exposition, explaining his meeting with Doctor Erskine.  Ellie could hear the excitement in his voice, after all, he was getting exactly what he had wanted for months; he was about to become a soldier. Even though Ellie’s stomach twisted at the thought of it, a part of her was proud. Steve was an amazing man, the most wonderful one actually and if he wasn’t made to fight, maybe he could help on the battlefield in a different manner.
Later that night Ellie had trouble falling asleep, her mind racing thinking about Bucky but mostly about Steve leaving just a few days later. For a few seconds, she even thought of going back to the living room where Steve was sleeping on the couch just to be next to him, but she didn’t. It was a bad idea. When she finally managed to fall asleep, she was restless, bad dreams shaking her sleep.

---------------------------------
“Uncle Bucky!” Morgan’s sweet voice entered the room before she was in sight. The sound of her feet running against the linoleum of the compound echoed just as loudly.
I smiled at Bucky as he stood up to greet the little girl running towards him from the hallway, bracing himself for her hug.
“Hey there MiniMo. How's it going?” He asked as he knelt to her height watching her smile grow on her face as she bounced on her toes.
“Can we go to the park? Daddy said it was alright while he worked.” Morgan begged.
“You just got here Maguna. Take a chill pill.” Tony said as he finally showed up in the common room.
“But dad, it's so pretty outside!” She whined turning towards Tony.
“And it'll be just fine a little later too. You need breakfast first missy.” He smirked as he readjusted his sling. “Say Hi to Aunt Y/n/n too. She’s looking a little dejected.”
I smiled as Morgan enthusiastically waved at me with her toothy grin before turning back to Bucky.
Despite their differences, Tony and Bucky had created a peaceful relationship. Tony still had some precautions but after speculation he realized where he had been mistaken and had finally accepted Bucky’s profuse apologizes about Hydras doing. Though Tony was very protective over Morgan, especially after his snap, Morgan had been the one to really connect the two parties. She broke Bucky out of his shell even more, probably even helped him more than I had through Steves leaving.
Bucky was amazing with Morgan. He treated her as if she was his younger sister like in the 40’s with Becca. He had told me once that Morgan’s smile reminded him of her. Other than Tony he had become the most protective of the girl. It was adorable. He always offered to babysit if Tony and Pepper had business or just needed a night off and if there wasn't a mission that had to be done.
Tony pulled Morgan along to the kitchen and Bucky had rejoined me on the couch, watching me complete the sudoku puzzle I was working on. I could feel the nervous energy coming from him as if he wanted to say something.
“What’s on your mind Buck?” I asked, not looking away from my puzzle.
“Huh, oh. Just thinking that's all.”
“Want to indulge me? I can feel your anxiety radiating from you.” I teased him, turning to see his sweet face.
“Do you want kids?” he asked bluntly. My heart dropped to my stomach and the smile that was on my face had faded as soon as the words left his mouth. “I mean like after we get married or something. I know we've only been dating for like a year or so, but we've never talked about this.” he said his hands fiddling in his lap as he watched my reaction.
“I- uh. I- well ummm I-”
“Uncle Bucky! Lets go to the park! Please!! Daddy said it was alright now!” Morgan interrupted my flustered stuttering.
“Ok MiniMo. I'll be right there. Go put on your jacket.” He smiled as she skipped away back to the door. “I didn't mean to upset you. We can talk about it later. I’ll see you in a bit.” he said before kissing my head and following Morgan out the door.
I watched his retreating form with tears glazing my eyes. My vision shifted from the hallway to see Tony standing in the doorway of the kitchen, his arm crossed over his chest and a sympathetic look on his features.
“Need to talk about something? I don't have to be in the lab yet.” He offered, moving towards me.
“I- I- He’s gonna hate me.” I whispered.
“Why’s that?” he sat down next to me, his good arm slug around the back of the couch.
“He asked if I wanted kids, probably because he wants them but I don't. I can't. He’s gonna hate me.” I turned to Tony.
“Did he explicitly say that he wanted kids? That he wanted to start a family with you.”
“No but -”
“EH- stop. If he didnt straight up say he wanted kids then don't be so worried. He’s asking what you want in the future.” he said.
“But what if he wants a family. I can't give him that Tony. I can't give him what he had, what he might want.”
“And if he truly loves you it won't be a problem. He might want a family but there are other ways to have kids.”
“No Tony, you don't understand. I don't want to have children at all. I can't deal with the stress of raising someone. I don't want to have a child just to mess them up because I’m not mother material.”
“Pepper thought that for a while. She doubted her ability but now look, we've got this amazing daughter.”
“You're not listening to me. I'm not mother material. I'm a mercenary. Pepper is an executive Business woman. She knows what it's like to have a family, how a child should be raised. I have no idea what that's like. I didn't have that luxury, I wouldn't know where to start. She doubted herself for a moment in life, I on the other hand have known forever that I will never be good enough to be a mother, whether it was my own child or adopted. I'm not made for that life.” I argued, the pain settling in my chest.
“Come on Y/n/n, you can't seriously believe that.” Tony said.
“I 100% do. I was raised as a killer, not a lover. I don't nurture things. I manage to kill everything I touch in time.” I stated, “I'm gonna go shower. Good luck with your projects.” I said before walking out of the room.
----------
I closed the bedroom door behind me and tossed my sudoku book onto the unmade bed. I looked at the clock on the wall watching the hands move. I began pacing along the carpet lost in my thoughts. Bucky's face ingrained in my memory, the way his eyebrows were furrowed in concentration, the lines creased on his forehead, the way his eyes flitted to mine after he asked the question of curiosity swimming within and a hopeful gleam.
Of course he would want a family. He grew up with a sister and a loving mother. And Steve was practically his brother. Why wouldn't he want a daughter or a son of his own. He loves Morgan and he loves spending time with her so of course he's pictured himself with his own children one day.
I ran a hand over my face trying to wipe away the worry. I pulled my shirt over my head dropping it onto the floor with my sweatpants before walking into the bathroom. I turned the water to the hottest setting possible watching the room fill with steam almost immediately.
The water cascaded around me, trailing off my fingertips and dripping from my hair. The cool tile of the floor underneath my huddled form wasn't noticeable with the steaming water hitting my back. My arms were wrapped around my legs as I sat on the floor of the shower, my head leaning against the wall reimagining the look that Bucky had given me. It had morphed to a pained look, one of disgust, of hatred.
“Hey Y/n? Everything alright? Tony said you needed to talk to me.” Bucky's voice broke me from my trance. I heard the bathroom door open and close behind him. He knocked against the tinted glass door to the shower. “Can I join you?”
“If you want to.” I said quietly, pulling myself off the floor as he got undressed and stepped in. His hands wrapped around my waist.
“What's going on doll?” HIs deep voice whispered as he left kisses on my shoulder.
“Maybe we should break up.” I said quietly. His grip loosened a little and his kisses stopped.
“What are you talking about?”
“I just don't want to hold you back from something you want.” I said.
“Is this about what  I asked earlier? Because I didn't mean that we had to have kids now. I know that our lives are still kinda hectic. We can wait. I don't mind.” he said, his hands turning me to face him.
“I can't have kids. Even if I could I don’t want kids. And you obviously want a family. I can't give you that. I can't give you what you had growing up. I can't give you a loving family like you want.” tears were freely streaming down my cheeks.
“We don't need kids to have a loving family. I have you. That's enough for me.” he reassured, his hands cupping my face.
“But you want kids. I see how you act with Morgan. You adore her.” I said.
“I do adore her, but that doesnt mean I want kids. I adore you much more than risking losing you over wanting children. I'm fine without kids. We can have a dog instead.”
“But- I-”
“Stop. Listen to me closely; I don't need children to have a family with you. It can just be me and you. I don’t care just as long as I’m sharing my future with you.” he said gently but stern. “Now come on, let’s get out and go play with Morgan, ok?”
I simply nodded and followed his lead out of the shower. He took my towel and dried me off gently, finishing by placing a kiss on my lips.
“I love you, you know that.” he smiled tilting my chin up to meet his gaze.
“I love you too. I'm sorry.”
“There's nothing to apologize for, doll. Nothing at all.” he said with another smile before crushing me in a hug.

One Spider-Man and a Baby
A/N: This was supposed to be part of a 5+1 in response to an ask prompt, but I’ve been stuck for...honestly I have no idea how long at this point, and I really want this one to see the light of day, so I’m posting it.
Summary: Peter is definitely out past his bedtime, but to be fair, babies are also definitely not supposed to be out in the dead of night...or in dark, spooky alleys.
It’s a slow night on patrol.
Peter is sitting atop a Subway, his legs hanging over the edge, and he’s just finished munching on a complimentary six-inch. He stands, stretches, and shoots his balled up trash in to the large silver can below him before hopping to the ground, opting to walk in the shadows instead of webbing so that his food can settle.
It’s very early in the morning (or late at night, depending on how you look at it); it’s low traffic hours, so for once, Peter is able to navigate his own city as Spider-Man with ease. Every once in a while, he passes a pair or a group of partygoers, slurred exclamations of “Spider-Bro!” and “Wow, Spider-Man!” making his cheeks burn with pride. He’s just fist-bumping an especially enthusiastic passerby when a new sound reaches his ears.
The cries of a baby definitely aren’t novel sounds to Peter, especially around bedtime in New York, but something about these cries are wrong, aside from the fact that it’s almost 1 in the morning. They seem raw, desperate, even.
Following his ears, Peter comes to the mouth of an alleyway. He listens for a moment more before slowly inching his way into the darkness.
“Hey, Karen,” Peter mumbles. “Do we have night vision?”
“Of course, Peter.”
Instantly, the small space is lit up in a strange, fluorescent green that Peter has seen on numerous ghost-hunting shows.
“Seriously? Green? I feel like I’m on ‘Ghost Hunters.’”
“I believe that was the intended effect. Mr. Stark was aware of your television preferences.”
Peter smiles a bit, but it melts when he realizes where the cries are coming from. Peter carefully steps toward a large dumpster and hoists himself up; a dark blue infant car seat sits on top of a pile of full black garbage bags. Peter quickly dives over the edge of the large bin and wades toward the source of the continuous cries until he’s able to lift the blanket draped over the handle; the smallest baby Peter has ever seen lays swaddled inside. The tiny human’s face is so wrinkly and pinched that even Peter can tell it’s the closest to a newborn you can get without being in a hospital. Peter feels his stomach turn over when reality sets in: someone probably abandoned this baby here. The night vision just picks up the tear tracks on the baby’s cheeks, and Peter’s heart clenches.
“Karen, can you scan the baby for injuries?”
“She appears to be unharmed, Peter, but her body temperature is low. Considering she is a newborn, I suggest skin-to-skin contact if possible.”
“Oh....” Peter considers for a moment. “I have my Midtown hoodie. It’s pretty thick.” He knows his backpack is webbed up behind the aforementioned Subway, about fifteen minutes away, but he knows he can’t leave the baby behind. “You said skin-to-skin, right, Karen?”
“Yes, Peter.”
“Okay, Babygirl, we’re gonna get you warm.” Peter hits the spider logo in the center of his suit, and it becomes lose all around him. He slips out of the top half of his uniform and reaches into the car seat; he carefully brings the squirming infant against his chest and grits his teeth when she cries louder at the movement and harsh cold. He holds the surprisingly light little body with one arm and then the other as he slips them back into his sleeves. He presses the little spider again, and the suit becomes form-fitting around them. “Hey, Karen, can you loosen the suit around Babygirl?”
Immediately, the pressure against his chest lessens, and he cradles the little one there, shivering at how cold she is against his warm skin.
“Can you put the heater on low, Karen? Don’t want to hurt her.”
His suit is instantly less warm than normal, and Peter hugs Babygirl close. She’s still crying, so he tries to bounce her a bit, like he’d seen on countless T.V. shows.
“She’s probably hungry, huh, Karen?”
“Most likely.”
“Mmmhmm...Is there like a shelter or something nearby?”
“May I suggest a hospital?”
Peter smacks his forehead. “Duh. Get me directions to the closest one with a 24 hour emergency room.”
“Done. Directions starting.”
Peter grabs the carrier and sets off under Karen’s direction. It’s an hour journey on foot, but Peter would rather not risk upsetting the baby more than has already been done.
As they’re walking, Peter tries to keep Babygirl as steady as possible, running a hand over her head over and over, cupping the infant to him as he silently pleads for her to calm down.
“Karen, what calms babies down?”
“Top results include: feeding.”
“Can’t do that.”
“Diaper changes.”
“Also can’t do that.”
“Pacifiers.”
“Didn’t see one.”
“Rocking.”
“Limited ability right now.”
“And singing.”
“If I do that, she’ll scream.” Peter snorts.
“Why is that, Peter?”
“Let’s just say I’m not the best singer.”
May may not be his biological aunt, but he definitely inherited his tone deafness from her by proxy.
“You don’t have to be. Just the sound of a voice can be comforting. Studies show that babies are calmed by hearing familiar voices talking, but singing has been shown to be even more effective.”
“What about humming?”
“Close enough.”
“Hmmm...this is weird, Karen, but I have ‘Bella Notte’ from Lady and the Tramp stuck in my head right now.”
“I can play that quietly for you, if you want.”
“That works.”
The opening accordion notes of the Disney classic play quietly around them, and Peter smiles. “I’ve always loved this song. There’s just something about it.”
“Are you going to sing along, Peter?”
“I already told you I’m awful, Karen.”
“You can still hum. The vibrations might be soothing for Babygirl.”
“I guess-hey, Bella. I’ll call her Bella. That’s nicer than Babygirl.”
“Bella is a nice name. It means ‘beautiful.’”
“I like it. Bella Notte...” Peter takes a deep breath and silently resigns himself to humming for Bella’s sake.
The baby has quieted down quite a bit by the time the hospital comes into view, and Peter has literally memorized “Bella Notte” as it plays for the 20th time.
The ER only has a few scattered patrons when they arrive, and thankfully, none of them really acknowledge the strange pair. “Karen, voice disguise.” Peter whispers as he crosses into the reception area.
“Uh, hi. I’m, uh-”
“Carrying a baby in your shirt?” The receptionist is terse but smiling just a bit as Peter fumbles with the carrier.
“Uh, yeah. I found her abandoned in an alley.”
“Oh, dear.” The woman clicks her tongue and picks up her phone. “Katie,” She sighs after a few moments. “Can you come to my desk please? An infant. Yup. Thank you.” She smiles softly at him this time. “One of our pediatric nurses is coming. There is a single bathroom back here if you you want to take her out...privately.”
“Oh, thank you so much.” Peter tentatively rounds the desk and nods when the receptionist, Patricia, her nametag says, lets him in the locked door.
In the privacy of the one-person restroom, Peter rips off his mask and sags against the wall, breathing deeply and unevenly as he tries to get his bearings. He can’t believe he walked all the way here with a tiny baby in his suit. He presses the logo and carefully extracts her, immediately bundling her in the blanket he’d found her under. He realizes in the light that she’s only wearing a dirty white onesie, and he feels tears spring to his eyes.
“Don’t worry, Bella.” Peter coos softly, his voice breaking as he really looks over her scrunched up face for the first time. “You’re safe now.”
Before he can think, he places a featherlight kiss on her little forehead, and his heart flutters. He clenches his eyes against the tears welling there as she whimpers in his arms, exhausted from crying for who knows how long. The boy stares at the baby for a few more moments before sighing deeply and pulling his mask back over his tired features.
Peter keeps the baby cradled to him with one arm and carries the car seat with the other; he carefully opens the bathroom door and inches out into the employee area behind the reception desk. A young woman with a brown ponytail and soft hazel eyes catches his gaze and gives him a small wave; she pushes off of the table she’s leaned against and meets him halfway.
“Hi, Spider-Man.” Her voice is like tinkling bells. “Pat says you have a visitor for me?”
“Yeah....I don’t know her name, so I’ve been calling her Bella.”
“That works for now.” Katie smiles and reaches out. “Mind if I take her off your hands?”
“Oh, yeah, of course.” Peter hesitates and looks down at Bella, his eyes filling again, and he feels himself blush. He looks back up at Katie but subconsciously pulls the baby closer.
“You can hug her good-bye if you want,” Katie offers softly, gently pulling the carrier from his arm. “I’ll be right out front with Pat when you’re ready.”
“Okay. Thank you, Katie.”
The young nurse smiles and leaves quietly.
Peter looks down at Bella, his view of her distorted through tears. “You’re gonna be okay now, Bella. Katie and Pat will take good care of you.” Peter swallows thickly and places her laterally against his chest, bouncing her gently to comfort both of them, if he’s honest. He squeezes her against him and brings his head to rest on top of hers. “This is so weird. I only met you like an hour ago, but...I love you so much, Bella.” Peter sighs and sniffs before straightening up; he continues slightly rocking Bella as he walks toward Katie and Pat, the former continually smiling at him as he hands the tiny bundle over.
“She’ll be okay. Thank you for bringing her to us.” Katie pats his shoulder and holds an arm out. Peter is taken aback for a second until he really looks at her, sees the lines in her face and bags under her eyes. She suddenly reminds him of May, the desire to help and love so evident in every part of her, and he steps into her embrace. Katie squeezes him lightly and rubs a hand over his back. Peter breathes shakily, and she squeezes again before pulling away. “You’ll both be okay,” Katie promises.
“Why...was she abandoned?”
Katie’s eyes turn down at the corners. “Any number of scenarios for why, but Pat told me you found her in an alley.”
“In...a dumpster.” Peter chokes out.
“Sadly, not the first time we’ve heard of that, but she’s definitely better off now that she’s here. Our social worker specializes in infant care, so she’ll find a good foster family for her.” Katie pats his back one more time before holding Bella close to her; she runs a finger over her forehead.
“She was so cold when I found her,” Peter whispers. “But I think I helped warm her.”
“I’d say so; she doesn’t feel too cold at all. You did good, Spider-Man.” Katie turns back toward the door he came through, and Peter holds it open for her.  “You’re welcome to stay here until we’re done looking her over and getting her settled, if you want.”
“I...I want to...” Peter sighs and rubs his arm. “But I already said good-bye. I should go home. Someone is waiting for me. Plus, I trust you guys.”
“Well, thanks.” Pat laughs and rubs his arm. “This is what we do, baby. She’ll be just fine. You did good.”
Peter nods, puts a hand on Pat’s shoulder as he passes, and heads out of the emergency room before he can break down.
-
It’s after 3am when Peter finally climbs in his window. He shouldn’t be surprised to find May asleep on his bed, but his vision, physical and otherwise, is a little hazy thanks to his senses being on alert ever since he left the hospital. It wasn’t like the normal shriek of danger but a buzz at the base of his neck, like the area there has somehow fallen asleep.
Peter shakes his head when he finds himself still sitting on the windowsill. He crosses to May silently and gently rubs her shoulder. “May?”
May stirs and squints up at him; her eyes widen before she sighs and laughs, slightly delirious. “Oh, shit, Peter. I always forget about you under there.” She sits up and stretches. “Why didn’t you call me? Way past curfew.” She yawns into her hand.
Peter hits the spider logo and strips out of the suit, exhaustion flooding his bones and tears in his eyes at her comment. “I’m sorry, May. Crazy night.”
“Yeah?”
Peter slips into a t-shirt and sweatpants and turns to face his aunt.
May’s expression falls when she really sees Peter’s face.
“Oh, baby, what happened?”
Peter bites his lip and blinks, releasing a few of the tears he wouldn’t let fall in the hospital. “That’s exactly it. I...I found a baby.”
“Oh my god.” She’s across the room and hugging him before he can blink again. She pulls him back toward the bed and hugs him close as he begins trembling.
May hugs him against her cups the back of his head; she looks down at him and murmurs, “Why didn’t you call me? I could’ve helped you, sweetheart.”
“You’ve never had a baby, May.” Peter says between shuddering breaths. “And I was six when you got me.”
“Touché.” May brushes some bunched up hair form his forehead. “But I had cousins growing up. I know how to deal with babies.”
“I just....didn’t think to. I took care of her, though. Took her to an emergency room. I had it handled.”
“Good thinking, kiddo.”
“It was Karen’s idea.”
“Well good on Karen, then.”
Peter nods mutely, staring blankly at the floor.
May wipes the stray tears from his cheeks and just lets them sit in silence for a few minutes, letting Peter get himself together before a yawn shudders through her. They both laugh a bit, and May asks, “Good?”
Peter nods.
“Good.” May carefully detaches herself and picks up his bedside water glass. “I’ll fill this for you, then bed time.” She goes and returns swiftly, kissing him tenderly on the brow while whispering, “I’m so proud of you, sweetheart. The hero with a heart of gold.”
Peter’s smile is wobbly, but he forces it up for her.
When she leaves, he lays on top of his covers for a little while, staring at his ceiling. Even with his windows and doors closed and locked tight, Peter can’t seem to shake that buzz in his senses.
It’s a little after 5am when his eyes finally fall closed, though the threat was long gone.
Stories below him and hours before, a hooded figure had slipped off into the night, having been at the right place at the right time for his own gain.

Peter and Ned writing
Peter and Ned sat on the floor of Peter’s bedroom, still in their uniforms after a long day of work at the ice cream parlour. Between them sat two containers, coin banks they had made out of legos and decorated themselves before they started working. Ned’s was mainly blue, covered in Star Wars minifigures. Peter’s was primarily red, and covered with legos made to look like fireworks.
“How much did you get?” Peter asked as they both pulled out their tips from the day's work.
Ned went through and counted his money. “7.50.”
Peter counted his. “I got 7.25.” There was a little quiet before them before Peter said, “Well, it’s a start at least, right?”
“Definitely a start,” Ned agreed. “Shall we put them in?”
They both took their coin banks, and stuffed their money inside.
Peter sat back once he was done. “College,” he said, “Here we come.”

The ring Bucky Barnes x reader
This is my first fanfic ever so sorry if it is bad.
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: The team is on a vacation and on the last night reader gets sick and decides to stay at the hotel but then she gets robbed and Bucky comforts  you after. I quess?
⚠️Warnig: Robbery, yelling, violence.⚠️
I didn’t really know what to put in the warnig section but i thought is best that i just warn you before you read. “I'll be fine”, You said looking at Your cousin Tony.
“You sure?”, he said with a concerned look.
“Yeah”, just go now you'll be late, you say while pushing him out of your hotel room.
You and the other avengers had gone on a trip and this was the last day, everyone had gotten ready to go to dinner but all of a sudden you had started feeling sick so you decided to stay in.
You were sitting on your bed while looking at instagram, when all of a sudden you heard someone knock at the door. Who could that be? you slowly got up from the bead and before you opened the door you fixed your robe. When you opened the door the only thing you could do was stay still. There where three men in police uniforms standing with masks on.
“THE RING! THE RING!”, they kept saying but the only thing you could do was just stand there.
“THE RING!!” The shortest of them said again while pointing at his ring finger aggressively that's when I realized what they were talking about. The diamond ring Tony had given you on your 26 birthday a few weeks ago.
You slowly took it off and handed it to him but the nightmare wasn't over jet. The tallest man pushed you down on your bed. This is the time, The time I get raped you thought  while he handcuffed your hand and legs. Prepare yourself I thought but then he just went off of me and he and the other started recking your entire room and after a while they found your jewelry box. While two of them were taking all the jewelry inside the shortest one came up to you and whispered “You quiet you okay, Okay?” you responded with a nod.
He then duct taped your mouth and eyes. They are gonna kill me you taught but then the taught that made you more scared popped up into your head. When Wanda comes back to your hotel room she is gonna be traumatized forever by seeing your corpse just laying there in your shared bed.
when you heard them leave you counted to 200 hundred to be sure that they weren't gonna come back or anything. But then your body froze after trying to get free their back, I am going to die you taught.
“oh my god”, you heard a voice say.
The duct tape on your face was nog dragged  off and you could see that it was one of the staff at the hotel that had probably heard some of it or she noticed the fact that your door was open, you didn't really care you were just happy that the nightmare was over.
She helped you get free and you started sobbing, she then comforted you while you tried to tell her what had happened.
Now 20 minutes later you were sitting in the lobby talking to police about what happened while still sobbing.
When you were almost finished you could hear some people laughing while walking into the lobby. You recognize the laugh that you loved the most to listen too, Buckys.
All of the avengers smiles fastly turned into confused, scared and worried faces. But the two that looked the most scared were Tony and Bucky. You looked straight into Bucky's eyes and just after a few seconds he came over and pulled you close into a hug. You sobbed even more than before because now you felt safe to be able to cry it all out.
The police decided that they would talk to you another day and slowly left the two of you to explain the situation to the other avengers. You could see through your tears how Wanda cried while holding her at her mouth being shocked and how Tony´s and Loki's thists tightened and their jaws clench the rest of it was just turned into a blur.
“It's okay, you're safe” Bucky said while moving you so he could look into your eyes even though they had an ocean of tears streaming down.
You and him sat there for an hour until you slowly fell asleep. He picked you up bridal style and started carrying you to your and Wanda's room he knocked. but nobody opened so he thought Wanda was sleeping when actually she was sleeping in her brother's room on the couch because she didn't want to be in the room where it all happened. Bucky slowly puts you down on the bed and puts you in one of your favorite  shirt of his. Then he put a few blankets and the cover over you.
He didn't know what had happened but what he was sure about was that he would kill anyone that had hurt you. “I love you doll”, he said after climbing into the bed and placed a kiss on your forehead.
“I love you so much”.

WandaVision: On a Very Special Episode... Part 2 AU Remake
Pietro and Candance are pulled into the hex and are now happy residents of Westview.  But there is something more to just a visit with a long lost sister. Warnings: Spoilers from Episode 5 of WandaVision, uber cuteness of Billy and Tommy, and fangirling Pairings: Pietro Maximoff x Candance Wilson (OC), Wanda x Vision Words: 2266
It hurt, everything hurt. She didn’t know what was going on nor did she understand why she felt a warm summer’s breeze rather than the crisp autumn air. However, in her head she could hear someone repeat the phrase “Play your part, you’re no longer who you know you are, you’ve always been here in Westview, it is your home”. Sitting up on the soft green grass Candance looked around the strange town square. Everyone seemed to be going about their businesses. She could hear excited chatter, people weren’t paying her any attention, some of them did stop to stare at her, some of them pointed and whispered. She sat up and placed a hand to her head, she let out a soft groan an oncoming headache invaded her head. Looking down at her clothes she began to wonder just what she was wearing, however that voice in her head once again repeated the same phrase, telling her to play her part, she needed to keep things happy, hopeful, and no sorrow. “Pietro?” Candance whispered softly as she looked beside her and saw her boyfriend was sitting next to her, but wait he was staring up at the sky unblinking almost as if he was entranced by something. “Piet! Pietro!” Pietro snapped out of his thoughts and looked down at Candance with a small smile. His hand reaching up to brush a strand of hair from her face. “Hey sleepyhead.” “Pietro, I was asleep?” Candance asked softly staring at him. “Wait, you let me sleep in public like some kind of spazz?!” she slapped him in the chest. “How rude, maybe I should find someone else to be my husband then.” Pietro shook his head. “I’m sorry princess,” he chuckled before he stood up and dusted his pants off. “Come on, we need to get going to find Wanda.” “Wanda? You never mentioned a Wanda.” Candance said before a thought invaded her mind breaking through the cloud that was covering her memories. “Wanda…Wanda is Pietro’s sister; she’s my best friend and she needs hel—What if Wanda is his ex-girlfriend?! What if he’s cheating on me?!” “Wanda’s my sister,” Pietro assured her. “We haven’t seen each other since she left home when she was 15, our parents had left us alone and I tried to keep her happy.” “Right, your sister,” Candance got up and stretched as she once again took note of her attire. She was wearing a pair of leggings under a short skirt with a top that revealed her midriff. She reached up and touched her head feeling that her hair was held up in a tight high ponytail with curls framing her face. She looked over at Pietro quietly and took in his appearance. Pietro was dressed in a pair of black jeans with a purple shirt and a black leather jacket over it. His hair was slicked back with a few strands out of place. What stood out the most was the strange necklace he was wearing. However, something else was wrong, Pietro sounded different, he didn’t have his accent. That was one thing that Candance remembered him having, and she also knew had a better sense of style. What was going on? “Come on babe, we have to go visit Wanda,” Pietro told her. “I think she lives around her somewhere.” “Umn, ok.” Candance fell silent and gave a soft squeak of surprise when she felt him lift her up and into his arms. “Pietro, I can walk on my own.” “How can I let you walk when we’ll be running?” Pietro kissed the tip of her nose and took off running. He took a moment to look down at Candance as he noticed she was holding onto him for dear life. Wait why was he carrying her? She had something to keep up with him, right? She’d been lent a pair of wings by Sam---wait no Candance couldn’t keep up with him. She wasn’t gifted with powers. Not like him and Wanda. She was a normal girl he met in Sokovia when Candance was volunteering at a farm. Candance tried her best to figure out what was going on, why was everything so strange? Why did her head hurt? Most of all why was everyone they passed unphased by Pietro using his power in public? Shaking her head to clear the thoughts she sucked in a breath and laid her head on Pietro’s chest as she let him carry her to wherever the mysterious Wanda lived.
---------------------------------------   “Pietro and Candance were pulled into the hex,” Monica looked at Darcy and Jimmy with worry all over her face. She knew the two were capable of fighting but she also knew that Wanda would probably eject them from her world if they even tried talking to her. “Pietro?” Darcy asked. “You mean Pietro Maximoff? Wanda’s brother? I thought he was killed by Ultron.” “He was, but the technology used by S.H.I.E.L.D. brought him back, and he had been recovering with Clint Barton and his family.” Monica explained. “And what’s his relation to Agent Wilson?” Jimmy asked. “Agent Wilson, Candance is Sam Wilson’s younger sister and also a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent,” Monica said. “She and I are friends and I’ve had her help me out from time to time. She and Pietro are dating.” “Dating?” Darcy got a small smile on her face and looked at Jimmy holding out her hand. “Pay up Woo, I called it.” Jimmy rolled his eyes and pulled some money out of his pocket and handed it to Darcy. “So, Pietro and Candance went into the hex to bring Wanda out?” “No, Pietro might’ve ran inside the hex to save Wanda himself and if I know Candi, she probably went after him.” Monica shook her head. “But don’t count those two out, they might be the ones to get Wanda to stop the hex.” “Or she could kill them,” Darcy reminded Monica. “We’ve seen her angry and we don’t want to make her angrier. I---.” She heard Wanda and Vision arguing coming from the tv. She quickly walked over to it and looked at the scene unfolding. “This is new.” “New?” “Wanda and Vision don’t fight, and it looks like Wanda’s not cutting it out of her show.” Darcy said.
------------------------------------- Pietro sat Candance down in front of a house and looked at her with a small smile. “This is where Wanda lives,” he said in excitement. “I can’t wait until you meet her.” “Pietro,” Candance began and placed a hand on his cheek. “Something’s wrong, haven’t you noticed how everyone’s happy? And what happened to your voice and—ow, umn yeah I’m excited to meet Wanda.” “Did you hurt yourself?” Pietro asked almost immediately began checking her for any bruises. “No, I don’t see anything, what’s wrong? Did I hurt you while I was carrying you?” “No no, just a headache,” Candance assured him with a smile. “I’m fine, come on let’s go say hi to your sister.” Pietro nodded as he turned to ring the doorbell. He didn’t notice a figure hiding behind some bushes in the yard nor did he notice that Candance had gone to investigate. Candance for a second had regained control of her mind and looked around the yard, she reached into her…handbag and groaned when she saw the only thing in it was a squirt gun. Shaking her head she walked toward the bushes and got closer and closer until. A stray black cat leapt out of the bushes and hissed at her before taking off. Candance rolled her eyes before looking over her shoulder when she heard the front door open. She spun around and saw it, or rather her. “Wanda is here, so she’s sa---ow…” Candance fell to her knees and held her head before looking up with a small smile and got up as she jogged up to where Pietro was. “Wanda who is this?” Vision asked. Wanda looked at Vision before looking back at Pietro. She didn’t say a word and merely continued staring at him in disbelief. “Long lost bro gets to squeeze his stinkin’ sister to death or what?” Pietro asked and held open his arms for Wanda to hug him. “Pietro…” Wanda whispered before she hugged him tightly. Pietro hugged his sister with a small smile before looking up and took notice of Vision. “Who’s the popsicle?” Wanda stayed silent before noticing Candance standing behind Pietro. “Candance?” she whispered before shaking her head. There was no way that her brother was here let alone her best friend. “Wanda, I’m sorry for dropping in unexpectantly, but I wanted to see you.” Pietro told her before he turned and grabbed Candance by the hand and pull her inside the house. “I know you have several questions but first I’d like you to meet Cadence, we’re going to be married in a few months.” “Hi,” Cadence said as she tried to figure out where she had seen Wanda before. It was strange but for some reason it seemed as though they met before. “I’m sorry that we didn’t call but Pietro insisted on surprising you.” “No problem,” Wanda waved a hand and smiled. “Oh, um Pietro and Candance, this is my husband Vision.” “Vision huh?” Pietro looked Vision up and down as he raised an eyebrow. “Where did you meet him?” “At um, a party,” Wanda said quickly. “Vision and I have been married for awhile now, we’ve lived in Westview for years.” “Oh cool,” Pietro said. “So, I think me and bro-in-law should get to know each other, how about you and Candi go and get to know each other.” “Good idea,” Wanda said. “Follow me.” Candance followed Wanda into the kitchen, as she looked at her quietly before sighing. “So Wanda, you and Pietro grew up overseas and moved here when you were teenagers?” “Uh, yeah sort of, our parents are…” Wanda began and paused. “Our parents are no longer with us, but Pietro coming here after 7 years is kind of a surprise.” “I didn’t know he had a sister,” Candance laughed softly and shook her head before looking at Wanda as she walked forward and grabbed her by the shoulders. “Wanda, what’s going on? Why are we here? Are you ok what’s goi--.” “Candance are you ok?” Wanda asked narrowing her eyes as red magic began to circulate around her hands. “Yeah, I meant are you ok, I know how weird it is for Pietro to be here,” Candance said and let Wanda go. “I’m sorry can I have a glass of water?” “Yeah…” Wanda stepped away and went to get Candance a glass of water. She took note of the strange bag on Candance’s back. “So where are you from?” “Oh, I’m from Harlem, New York.” Candance said brightly and looked around the kitchen. “I was raised by my brother after our parents were murdered by gang members. I think that’s why Pietro and I bonded so quickly two orphans in this world with just our siblings.” “I see, and you’ve seen your brother?” Wanda asked pouring water into a glass before sliding it to Candance. “Hmn? Yeah, Sam is in Washington D.C. on business for a while,” Candance explained. “He and his friend are running our family’s restaurant.” “I see,” Wanda said as she began walking around to get behind Candance to inspect the bag she was wearing on her back. “So, your brother lives nearby, and you decided to come with Pietro to see me?” “Yeah, it’s a fun road trip before Pietro and I get married.” Candance began to giggle. “I think he wants to run off to Vegas to get married.” “I see,” Wanda managed to get behind Candance and reached for the bag before she saw Candance turn around. “Oh do you want me to take your backpack up to the guest room where you Pietro will be staying?” “No thanks,” Candance said and looked at Wanda with a serious look. “You’re obvious curious about what I have in this bag aren’t you?” “no no,” Wanda said shaking her head. “It’s nothing really,” Candance took off the backpack and opened it as she held up a piece of red fabric attached to a red sleeve. “A design I’m working on for Halloween, but you’ll have to wait and see what it is, since I want to keep it a secret from Pietro.” “Oh, I see,” Wanda laughed it off as she finally relaxed deciding that Candance couldn’t have been sent in to pull her from her life she had built with Vision. “Hey, we should go into the living room and see how the guys are doing?” Candance asked. “I’m sure they’re probably bonding.” “Right.” Wanda said and followed Candance out of the kitchen into the living room and laughed at the sight of Vision being held in a headlock by Pietro. “Pietro, Vision what’s going on in here?” “He attacked me,” Vision said. “Stop being a baby.” Pietro chuckled. “I thought I’d show bro-in-law some Sokovian self-defense moves. He’ll need to learn since he’s married to you.” Wanda rolled her eyes but laughed deciding to let Pietro have his fun. She did begin wondering if she brought Pietro back to life, but why did she bring Candance to her world too? Was it because she missed her best friend? PLEASE STAND BY
