Having subjective symptoms is very isolating because there is no way for others to witness what you're going through. They just have to trust you and you have to trust them to believe you. I know everyone in my life believes it, but they don't get it. I expressed to my therapist that I feel that all of these symptoms begin rattling around in my head and it creates a barrier between me and others.

My world: hurting, trying not to show it, coping with pain, fearful, etc

Their world: normal, uneventful, happy evening

It's very difficult to have something happening to you that nobody else can see.

Note

Losing flight means losing your life when you're an elytran.

Their body immediately shuts down if they can't fly for prolonged periods of time.

A few weeks? It's fine, they can still bounce back, they just kinda go in hibernation until they can fly again - which is why community is so important.

If they can't fly for more than a month, it's always best to pick them up yourself and get them in the sky. It can trick their brain into thinking they're flying, and buy them some time.

More than a month is risky. it can mean death. It often does.

Mumbo thought it was a good idea to keep Grian on the ground after he broke his wings.

It wasn't.

Mumbo almost lost his boyfriend, the hermits almost lost a friend, and the world almost lost that Ray of sunshine that is Grian.

He Flatlined. For 4 minutes.

Thank God some hermits know medicine.

The thing is, Mumbo wasn't wrong either. Grian shouldn't have been flying, not whilst his wings were so injured. And Grian didn't communicate his needs, so Mumbo had no idea.

A lot of conversations should have been had, but what's done was done. Now they have to handle the fallout. Mumbo throwing himself into his designs, terrified of confrontating what he's done. Grian still recovering, getting better by the day but afraid of how he's hurt Mumbo.

The hermits will help them figure it out. After all, they're only staying apart because they're so worried they hurt the other. It was a miscommunication, two people trying to do the best for each other. They'll make it through this, the hermits know they will.

Negative Effects Headcanons

Here are a mere few of the various ways you can magically suffer in Minecraft.

Slowness — Disorientation and lack of coordination. Causes the individual to feel woozy and off balance, and their joints may lock up. Makes you feel heavier than you really are, and slows down your reaction speed. In high doses, can function as a tranquilizer. Overdoses can cause the afflicted to have difficulty swallowing, and can cause permanent paralysis.

Weakness — Light-headedness, difficulty breathing and tremors. The afflicted will begin to tremble uncontrollably and experience shortness of breath. Blood will not coagulate properly, and will flow freely in critical amounts from small injuries, causing severe blood loss. Can cause severe joint pain, headaches and even loss of consciousness in high doses.

Bad Omen — A strong, foul odor, and heightened paranoia. Small lapis lazuli crystals injected into a pillager captain’s blood enter your own through your pores, and you can be monitored and hunted down, like a tracked animal. It also causes a milder version of the mania that lapis-insertion causes, due to the soul reacting with the magic mineral.

Poison — Coughing, nausea and vomiting. Severe stomach pain and itching. In higher potencies, can cause migraines and hallucinations with lasting delirium.

Harming — Chemical burns, spasms and excruciating pain. The label doesn’t lie. Works like a very potent acid, but can only dissolve biological material. Can sear through layers and layers of body matter, even dissolving bone. When drunken, this will kill you in five painful, painful minutes. Weapons or tools are dunked in a non-lethal dilution of this frightful substance to be used as torture instruments, as well as brands.

Withering — Radiation poisoning but worse. Causes rapid growth of discolored, tumor-like material on the point of entry. Causes organ failure, confusion, vomiting and hair loss, as well as rapid atrophy of muscles and soft tissues (like eyes). Afflicted’s skin may bruise and blacken around the wound, and at the point of death they may be unrecognizable. Survivors of the effect will be permanently disabled, and may need amputation of afflicted area so the effect does not continue at a later date.

Hunger — Insatiable hunger (no way, really?) and indigestion. Any food eaten will come right back out. While the physical symptoms of starvation are not present, the brain is tricked into thinking it is starving, and the afflicted may act irrational and salivate heavily.

Bad Luck — A feeling of despondency and frustration. Causes depression and anxiety, and may cause the afflicted to feel uncharacteristically under-the-weather.

Darkness — Hallucinogen released by the sculk shrieker that causes blindness and eye irritation, as well as disorientation. Meant to cause prey to stumble about and make as much noise as possible so it reveals its location.

Levitation — Floating (obviously), a feeling of weightlessness, and a sinking sensation in the stomach felt as if you’re falling. Also, subsequent injuries causes from hitting the ground rapidly.

Hi all,

I'll keep this short, since I know this isn't a blog people come to for sad times, but I thought I should at least mention what's up.

My stepdad died this past week after a long illness. I don't especially want to get into all of it here, but obviously it's had an effect on posting and will do so for a while.

I don't know when I'll feel like making stuff for the blog; some days I might want to, and others I might not. Right now, I'm not really feeling it.

JULIAN'S VOICE ALMOST SURPRISES HIM. It shouldn't --- he is in the doctor's quarters, after all. Different to his quarters on DS9, but very Julian all the same. He's stood by the wardrobe, rifling through it for something warm, when Julian wakes. He's left Essan nestled against a chair arm in the other room after feeding him using Julian's replicator, so Garak faces Julian alone when he turns towards the bed.

ONE COULD SAY SOMETHING WENT TERRIBLY WRONG. Lots of things, actually. For one, Garak has accidentally adopted a child at the least convenient time possible. "Hello, Doctor." He's holding one of the thicker items of clothing from Julian's wardrobe. "I do apologise for the intrusion." It's so good to see him again. To see him asleep had been lovely enough, but to see him wide-eyed and blinking up at him... oh, he's as beautiful as Garak remembers. His dear doctor. He'd like to reach out for him now, take one warm human hand in his own, but he's not here for his own benefit. "You are... correct."

AT LEAST, TO SOME EXTENT. Rather than explaining verbally, he turns and makes his way back to the sofa, where he left Essan. Two empty plates --- both scraped clean by Garak on behalf of himself and the hungry child --- sit nearby on the table. A small Cardassian boy, perhaps four years old, is curled half-asleep on Julian's sofa. Like Garak, he looks less than healthy, though he additionally sports a feverish glassiness to his eyes, and has his little legs drawn up to his chest in what could be fear, pain, or discomfort. Garak wraps him in the jumper he's holding and lifts him into his arms. As soon as he's moved, Essan makes a small, upset-sounding noise, and presses his face into Garak's shoulder. "I'm sorry," Garak tells him softly as he turns to see whether Julian has followed him. "Doctor? I have a patient for you."
