When the Life Games end, some hermits that died can suffer with coming back to living after being dead for a prolonged period of time; some getting so severe that physical effects start to show (lack of/no response to injury; sometimes not even realising they've been hurt, tired/drained appearance, vacant gaze)
Cleo, someone who's been through that when she came back, helps with coping when the effects become too intense to get over without therapy
~🪶
She's written a guide for it at this point (well, Joe wrote most of it. She didn't ask him to, he just took over once he found out what she was doing.) But she finds it still helps to look after them herself. Something about physical contact, being with another person, it helps. She assumes it's grounding. She knows she needed a lot of that, when she came back.
And looking after their hermits, and the others from those servers, is never a chore for them. It's nice their experience can help, for once.

Ariana Griande is in fact, not Grian's drag persona. Well, she is, but she wasn't originally. Ariana was Grian's twin sister. No one knew she existed, not even her other siblings.
She died around the time Grian joined Hermitcraft. With him just moving to a new server and becoming a watcher, he never really had the time to deal with his grief. And so Grian became Griande, in Ariana's honour.
Which is why he was so surprised to see her, just sitting in the permit office. With Mumbo no less!
So Ariana and Grian became separate people again. They still love to mess with their boyfriends though, that will never change.
Grian still pretends to be Ariana just to see the look on Mumbo's face when he realises he's just said something incredibly suggestive to Grian thinking it was Ariana, and Ariana pretends she's him dressed as her so she can mess with Scar. Grian talks to him, leaves, Ariana comes back a few minutes later, and she has absolutely no idea what they were just talking about which annoys Scar. Grian doesn't know this is happening until Scar mentions it.
(is 💜 anon taken? If not I'd like to be 💜 anon)
Grian guesses it's fair, after how much he's dressed up as Griande to mess with Mumbo! Doesn't mean he's going to let it go easily, though.
Mumbo and Scar are considering what they can do to get them both back. And if they should be getting anniversary gifts alongside 'my partners sibling' gifts.

ok so uhh hear me out... SHADOWROT for the apocalypse theme !! sorry if this seems kinda demanding lol, first time sending an ask to you,
Lizzie and Cleo died in each others arms. It sounds very dramatic, but really, it sucked. The world ended, just like that. There was no escaping it, no fighting. They died. But at least they died together.
They revived together, too.
Not unchanged, but not... Not different either. Everything important was still there. The softness of their skin, their laughter, the love they hold for each other.
They have no idea what the future holds, but they can face it with each other. From one life to another.

something something doc resurrecting the homeland of the perimeter people and then leaving with the other hermits and watching his people come back there
It was a way to reconnect with his culture, but he never expected to rebuild it - to see what was once a barren space fill with life once more.
The hermits did ask if he wanted to stay behind, but Doc doesn't need to. He has a family, a community of his own. There's nothing he'd give them up for, and this culture deserves to make its own path now.

Lizzie died, and Skizz is morning her death. The next year, in the day that she died, she goes over and talks to him like nothing ever happened.
-May
To say Skizz is panicking is an understatement. He starts wondering if he also died, and somehow didn't know? Maybe he dreamt Lizzie death? But it's been so long! Lizzie deflects any questions he might have.

Jizzie angst for the theme
-May
Lizzie is an ocean goddess, but Joel is still human. She never stops loving her little husband even as he grows old and starts to forget her. It was charming the first few times, when he would introduce himself and try and flirt, only to be ecstatic to find out they were married.
The day has to come eventually where he passes, a beautiful ceremony is held in the Oceanic Empire. Lizzie can't rest, though. She is wracked with guilt, and against her better judgement searches for some old, forbidden magic.
It works. Joel is back, back to his youth even! But he doesn't remember who Lizzie is at all.

For weekly theme: Back from the dead
Yet again not that shippy lol but I wanted to write something so here we go!
Scar and Cub first met by incident. A little cosmic cat led the world-hopping scientist to Scar’s barren zombie-ridden home world, and from there they escaped and made their way to a new kingdom.
The thing is, they were both dying.
Scar had taken more than his namesake from his home and the Withering was spreading. It became harder to move, fatigue, pain, and weight loss persisted after respawn eating away permanently at the body and soul. Cub meanwhile had been cursed with rapid aging. Most human Players can live for centuries, but his timespan was quickly dwindling. The young adult who first met Scar had gone mostly grey by the time they joined the Hermits.
It was the Vex that saved them both. They spent the years researching and looking for cures and trying desperately to help. It was comforting in a way, knowing your closest friend is also doomed. With mere months left for both of them, they found out the ones whose servant cursed Cub in the first place, the Vex.
The process of joining an order of sinister trickster Fae is painful, it requires one to give up their soul as sacrifice for their magic, to be destroyed in the ritual as the vessel is prepared to host its newfound power. But to two dying humans, the deal struck was nothing but a blessing.
They signed the same pact, swore themselves eternally to the Vex, and attained postmortality.
The Vex’s magic could reverse Cub’s curse, but the Withering was far deeper. Its spread could be stopped, but the permanent damage remained, Scar would always be left with the aftermath of the infection. Although magic could help with his outward mobility and the like.
Nobody’s entirely sure if Cub and Scar were the same people afterwards. They say they are, but it’s hard to believe that from a being with consciousness but no soul. Regardless, neither regrets the deal made.
Not in the slightest.
In the end only Cub and Scar can truly understand each other on a deeper level. They love the hermits, but there is a certain bond that only they share. A price was made but it's one they made together, and now they get to "live" out the rest of that together.

Etho's very used to death - heck, his ex-wife is a zombie! - but he was not expecting it to feel so strange.
He feels the exact same. Just a little foggy. He can't quite remember things as well as before, and not many people acknowledge him.
He finds out - by accident - that he can walk through walls. Or rather, float through them. He's not really touching the ground.
That was an awkward conversation with Joel. One he'd rather not think about, but he can't help it.
Joel knows Etho's dead. He knows that he should just let him go, but damn, that ghost is not leaving him alone. And he's kinda cute too...
It's hard to tell if it's Etho keeping himself here, or Joel. And, realistically, are they ever going to bother working it out? Etho seems perfectly content pottering around, and Joel is enjoying his ghost roomie.
Just... If they could figure out the whole 'floating through stuff' thing. It makes cuddling real difficult.

do joel and iskall have a ship name? bcuz I wanna request them.
I personally vote for Smallskall but they don't need a widely recognized ship name to request! Just indicate the ship as Joel x Iskall and we'll understand ^.^

pearl had never been more heartbroken than when cleo died. for months, she wouldn’t leave her house or talk to anyone. she rarely even ate. then one day, after a particularly rainy night, she wakes up to find muddy footprints leading from the door to a pair of shoes, haphazardly taken off and dropped to the floor. it’s as she’s looking at them that she finally registers the smell of food and sound of someone moving throughout the kitchen
The first thing Pearl does to a newly revived Cleo is hit her over the head.
Perhaps not the best way to react, but what else are you supposed to do when your dead wife is cooking in the kitchen? The food, at least, is lovely. And they don't burn the house down. But that doesn't change the fact Pearl's dead wife is eating at the table with her. Nor the silence between them.
Cleo - can Pearl even call her that - is still... Cleo. Just more dead. She answers all of Pearl's questions with her usual dry humour, still knows their home perfectly. She can tell Pearl about things in the cupboards that even Pearl's forgotten.
Pearl, though? Pearl thinks she's going to take a long nap. And deal with this in the morning.
Cleo's hands are cold as she tucks Pearl in. Her lips colder as she kisses Pearl's head. But it still feels the same. It still feels the same.

tn anon is BACK BAYBEE (real not fake!) (i had a name change within the past 6 months but we're keeping tn for consistency purposes) anyway. dl renscar
scar isn't a particularly spiteful individual. he usually stays by the words of "live and let live" unless he felt as if he was wronged.
he does think it's justified to think that his soulmate (who very clearly didn't want to be soulmates with him. he's not stupid, just a bit slow) going behind his back to be a homewrecker and become secret soulmates with someone (who he eventually found to be bigb) can reasonably go into the category of "wronged." it was as if grian forgot that they share pain, because bigb was clearly a biter. so naturally, his conclusion is to go find ren to see his thoughts on the matter. after some placating, and a few promises he will debatably keep, they become secret soulmates he learns very quickly that spite isn't the main motivating factor anymore. (though the scowls from grain that are sent his way are very funny)
-tn (scar is an allay in this. no idea if you'd want to use this info but i hope you enjoy it anyway)
It goes from spite to the mutual understanding of two people who have been hurt, to... Something else. Something that they'd like to keep, even once the game is over.
BigB and Grian can enjoy their passing fancy. But Ren and Scar aren't even going to be secret anymore. This is them - collecting trinkets together and plotting murder.

Cleo isn't the only zombie, there's just more than one kind of zombie. Grian is also a zombie, it just so happens that he's born of a fungus, not a virus like Cleo. He doesn't want to have to explain the difference, and he especially doesn't want to explain why he's not connected to the rest of his hivemind. He misses his hivemind, but Cleo teaching him her version of zombie culture, and even the local zombie language, it really helps him feel more at home, even though he's still not ready to tell the hermits. He's elluded to it, but he's a bit of a coward when it comes to outright saying it. Cleo just hopes everyone is normal when he does, it's not that she doesn't trust them, but even she gets asked some weird questions sometimes.
People seem to think they're owed questions about anything they don't understand. She's gotten used to it, practically has scripted answers (both serious and sarcastic), but it doesn't stop it being gross.
Cleo is ready to bat if she has to, though. Even if it's their fellow hermits (especially if it's their fellow hermits) she'll be ready to tell them where to stick it. Coming back from the dead is traumatic enough. Grian doesn't need anything else to deal with, and they better consider themselves privileged if he ever tells them.

The hermits are usually experts in certain fields, like redstone, certain types of magic, or specific mobs. So it's not too rare that they're invited on an archological dig on some long forgotten world. Although the most recent world they've been asked to investigate seems to be the result of quite the apocalyptic scenario. Although strangely enough, Grian seems to know far too much of this worlds history and culture. It takes doc an embarrassingly long time to realise that Grian must have been the only survivor of this worlds apocalypse. He does his best to comfort him about all those bad memories, but doesn't want to mention it- especially since the other Hermits are oblivious.
If Grian doesn't want to reveal his history with this place, then Doc isn't going to expose it. After all, they still need to evidence their findings. Without proof, Grian's anecdotes are hearsay.
But Doc will listen. Anything Grian wants to say, he'll listen. He isn't alone anymore, and Doc will make sure he knows it.

This Week's Theme is: Back From the Dead
Something died. Now it's alive again. How and why? And how does this change their relationships? This week is all about rising from the dead!

For the theme
(tw death mentions, grief)
Etho doesn't mind being tall, but he does wish he was a bit shorter sometimes. Being over 6 foot in an apocalypse really isn't as advantageous as the movies make it look.
Joel however, wishes he was taller. He knows how impractical it is, from being friends with Mumbo and... Whatever he is with Etho, but he still wants to be tall. He thinks people will take him seriously that way. They won't, but no one has the heart to tell him that.
The apocalypse isolated Joel. He didn't have time to find anyone to hide with him, except some ghosts, (Lizzie, Jimmy and Scott) but they started to mess with him and it made him question his sanity so he reluctantly kicked them out.
Etho had a group, but they all either died or got infected. They all knew Scar wouldn't last two days, but it still hurt to lose him.
Joel, in an attempt to not go insane, went outside.
Etho, trying to clear his mind, also went outside.
That was the first human interaction either of them had in ages. Months for Joel, a week for Etho.
Etho couldn't bear to go back inside alone, and stare at Scar's empty chair wishing it were him. Joel offered to take Etho back with him. It'd give them someone to talk to, and take Etho away from the place his son died.
It was only meant to be a friendly gesture, but it turned into something more.
They like to joke about how well they complement one another. Etho is able to see over objects, Joel is able to fit under them! But really, they've provided each other with something they desperately needed. A sense of understanding. They may not talk about their pasts often, but when they need to, they're there.
They know it can't be healthy, relying so much on each other, but hey. The world as they knew it has ended, being alive is about as healthy as they can hope to get.

Pearl eats through clothes. It's not her fault, she's a moth after all, but the other hermits keep finding random holes in their clothes. She even does it to her own, and can often be seen chewing her sleeves.
Pearl's tried to beat that habit, but it's proven impossible. Hybrid instincts are a cruel beast. But the hermits have learnt to make the most of it. They've made so many patchwork clothes and blankets and pillows with the scraps of fabric Pearl leaves behind.
Usually with some extra materials, to try and stop Pearl eating those.

(suggestive tw)
Most hermits have admitted to wanting to see a bit more of Etho. Not like that, just... Almost every inch of his skin is covered at all times. They just want to see his face, to know if he's actually smiling, or if he's found a way to fake it under the mask.
One hermit has admitted to wanting to see a bit more of Etho. Not that Joel's the only one, he's just the only one who's admitted it.
And maybe Etho thinks the same of Joel. But he's not going to be so stupid as to admit it. Unless Joel speaks first.
Etho should start keeping tabs, but that might seem a bit desperate.
He doesn't actually care about people seeing his skin, it's just become a thing. And now Etho feels like he has to commit to that thing.
And that's now led to this weird stand-off between him and Joel. He thinks he'll have a better chance with one of the other hermits...
