For the Longest Time
Steve Rogers x Reader
Fandom: MCU
Summary: In 1943, Steve was visited by his soulmate, a girl from the future who already knew him. Decades later, after waking up in a brave new world, Steve meets his soulmate again, except she hasn’t met him yet. And she won’t travel to 1943—or know he’s her soulmate—for another year.
Note: This is a continuation/prequel/whatever you wanna call it to A Long, Long Time, a Steve Soulmate AU I wrote a while back. Long story short, I watched Knives Out again and got Steve Rogers brainrot. Happens to the best of us. I might write a third part if there’s interest…
Warnings: Canon-typical violence
Word Count: 2.2k
Reader Is: Steve’s Soulmate, Super-Powered, Female
Tumblr media
Steve remembered the day you’d met—for the second time, though he didn’t realize that right away—like it was tattooed on his brain. It was a few years after he’d come out of the ice and he had taken Tony’s advice to get out more, which had led him to the mall.
By some stroke of fate, it happened to be the day a pyromaniac with a flamethrower was there, but before he could even spring into action, you did, hands out in front of you and what seemed to be an invisible shield poised there, redirecting the flames and protecting the teenage movie theater employee that had nearly been caught in the crossfire.
A quick flick of your wrist knocked the attacker’s gun out of his hands, giving Steve the opportunity to step in and apprehend the guy.
You sat on a bench after, breathing heavy, a cut on your forehead from the shattered glass of the skylight. The paramedics were taking care of the civilians, and Steve wandered right over, impressed.
“Are you alright, ma’am?” He asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just glad everyone is okay.” You told him, meeting his eyes.
He finally got a good look at you and froze, looking bewildered. A deer in headlights. “You’re…”
It was you. Of course it was you. Since the moment he’d been unfrozen, he’d been looking for you. His soulmate. The girl from the future that popped in on his twenty-fifth birthday, turned his whole life on its head, and then left without warning, hours after their first kiss. Back when he was five-foot-nothing with asthma and more medical conditions than he could even remember.
Back before he was anything.
And you’d loved him anyway. You’d given him the day of a lifetime and hope for not only a future, but for love. That someone could love him for him despite it all.
“I know.” You knew? “I…I don’t know what it is or…why I can do it.”
Your powers, you meant. You thought he was talking about your powers and not your name, which was burning a hole into his wrist beneath the thick leather band keeping it hidden.
“Right. Well, it’s…” He sighed, gathering his words, hiding the elation and pain behind a warm smile. “It’s a good thing you were here. I don’t have my shield on me.”
“Mine is built in.” You chuckled.
“You, uh…have a cut. On your forehead.”
“Oh, do I?” You reached up and found it with your fingers and they came away a bit bloody. “Shit.”
“Come on.” He offered you his hand and you took it, letting him lead you over to the counter of the theater. “Hi, do you have a first aid kit?”
“Yeah, of course.” The girl at the counter said, rushing to grab it.
Steve patched you up with gentle hands, off in a corner on your own. Staring up at him, you finally realized the obvious. This was Captain America. And he was using a careful finger to spread a triple antibiotic ointment on your cut.
Play it cool, (Y/N).
“Do you do this often? The hero thing?” Steve asked.
“No.” You shrugged. “Haven’t had much opportunity thankfully. I mean…I’d like to, I just didn’t know how to…get into it, I guess. Any email I sent to Stark or S.H.I.E.L.D. or whatever would end up on a slush pile.”
“Well, I’ve got some connections. If you’re seriously considering it. I can’t say I recommend it, but…Obviously you’ve got that protective instinct and you seem to work well under pressure.”
“My heart is about to leap out of my chest.” You admitted, laughing as he carefully laid a Bandaid over the cut, closing the kit.
“That makes two of us.”
“But, yeah, if you think I’m really cut out for it…I’d love to help.”
***
It was those words that sealed your fate. Three days later, someone from Stark Industries got in contact with you and before you knew it, you were on a plane to the Avengers’ remote facility in Upstate New York with a bag full of clothes, a handful of books, and a dream. You met the others, Wanda, Natasha, Bruce. Eventually Bucky came into the mix, too, Steve’s friend from before the ice who…had a staring problem, you were pretty sure. He kept looking at you, seemingly bewildered you were there.
You never did figure out why.
After a particularly tricky mission in rural Kentucky, you had landed yourself in the infirmary, taking a pretty long nap complete with an IV and a heartrate monitor.
It was Nat that found Steve in there, wringing his hands, tears in his eyes. It was the one secret he still had: you were his soulmate and wouldn’t know it for another six months. Your name had been etched onto his wrist for seventy years, through the transformation, through the ice, through everything.
“She’s gonna be okay, Steve. Bruce thinks she might wake up soon.” Nat comforted, sitting in the chair next to him. She put a hand on his shoulder, confused by her friend’s sudden mood.
“I know, I just…” He shook his head. “I’m worried about her is all.”
Nat pressed her lips together, tilting her head. “This seems like a little more than that. You wanna tell me what’s really going on?”
That was her super power, he remembered. She was a human lie detector.
“I can, just…not here.” Steve nodded, leading her out of the room, out of your earshot, but still in sight thanks to the soundproof windows.
Nat’s hands settled on her hips, waiting for an answer. Instead, Steve took the cuff off of his wrist and held it out to her, letting her read the letters that had been etched there for the better part of a century.
Her jaw dropped. She stammered, arms crossing. She met his eyes and when she saw the sadness there, the guilt and longing, her expression softened.
“I should have told her. A long time ago, I should have told her but I can’t. In six months, on her twenty-fifth, she’s going back in time to 1943 to meet me on mine. And it…didn’t seem like she knew until she was already there.”
“So you’ve just been holding it in this whole time?” Natasha asked. “You’ve been in love with her…”
“Since the forties, yeah.” Steve nodded. “My great lost love, as Tony likes to call her when he rags on the band I wear.”
“Does he know?”
“No. Just you. And Bucky.” Steve amended. “He was there when she…”
“Right. Weird.” Natasha let out a long sigh, looking through the window. “Well do you need any help with that? I can get some information out of her. I’ll be super subtle, I promise.”
“I don’t know. She probably thinks my soulmate is dead, too.”
“Ironic.”
“No kidding.” Steve sighed. “Well, I guess if she says anything, let me know. It’s kind of a relief someone else knows.”
“We’ll get you through it, Steve. Six more months. That’s nothing.”
“Yeah.” Steve gazed longingly through the window. “I’m gonna sit with her for a while. I don’t want her to wake up alone.”
He slinked back into the infirmary and sat in the chair beside your bed, watching your steady breaths and listening to the beeping of the heart monitor. Natasha watched him through the window, heart strings pulled as tight as they’d ever been. Her best friend was in love and there was almost nothing he could do about it.
***
Three months later, you, Steve, Bucky, Sam, and Nat got snowed in on a mission in Alaska. The little cabin you’d been sent to was unreachable by any of the jets the team could send and besides, it wasn’t worth the risk of Clint or someone getting stuck out there in this.
But despite the fireplace raging with fresh-chopped wood, you were still shivering, all wrapped up for the night.
Steve watched you, forlorn. Natasha nudged him, motioning towards you. He chuckled and shook his head. He couldn’t. Right? What, take advantage of you in your vulnerable state.
Bucky seemed to agree with Nat, grinning into his mug of coffee, giving him some caffeine for his night watch.
Steve got up off of his seat, walked towards the fireplace and adjusted the logs, adding another small one for good measure. He looked back at the others, who were aggressively encouraging him to go over to you, and gave in.
He knelt down in front of you, clearing his throat, which caused you to jolt awake.
“Is everything okay? Are we under attack?”
Steve chuckled. “No, uh, we’re all good. Are you cold?”
“Kind of, yeah.” You admitted. “I’ll be okay, though, I promise.”
“Do you…want some company?” He asked, unsure of how to word it. “I…run warm.”
“Do you mind?” You asked, sitting up a little.
His heart raced. This was going better than he thought. “Here, um…” He raised the blanket on top of you and wiggled in underneath you, letting you lead as the two of you settled.
“God, you do run warm.” You hummed, all but collapsing against him, a hand flat against his chest while you adjusted.
“I didn’t always.” He said, voice sincere. “Buck and I used to have to share a bed in the winter. It was brutal.”
“Sounds like it.”
“Yeah, he snores.” Steve joked, earning a laugh.
“Oh I know. I can hear him three doors down back at home.”
“And I can hear you from the other room!” Bucky called, sending you and Steve into a fit of giggles, like kids at a sleepover. “It’s a small cabin.”
You heard him and Sam devolve into a bickering match about the truth of whether or not Bucky actually snored that loud.
You looked up at Steve, asking “is it okay if I put my arm here?” while carefully draping an arm across him.
“Yeah, of course.” He nodded, leaning against the pillows and pulling the blanket up around your shoulders.
You rested your head on his firm chest, listening to the way his heart was racing. Cute.
The drowsiness took over almost immediately, his warmth lulling you to sleep after a long day undercover out in the snow. You were asleep in minutes, breaths slow and long and even.
But once he was absolutely sure you were out, Steve pressed the gentlest kiss to your forehead, grateful beyond words to have you in his arms again.
***
“You thought today was her birthday???” Natasha asked, incredulous in the kitchen.
“I got nervous!” Steve defended. “I saw it on her whiteboard in front of her door and I thought—”
“I think Scott wrote that the last time he was here. He keeps track of all of that.”
“Doesn’t surprise me.” Steve replied, shaking his head. “Well, does she have any birthday plans?”
“Yeah, Wanda and I are taking her out shopping this afternoon. Tony gave her his card. And then the party tomorrow night.”
Steve nodded. “Okay, good. That buys me some time.”
“You got a plan?”
“I’ve had a plan.” Steve admitted. “Been sitting on it for about seventy years, in fact.”
***
You got out of bed, got dressed, and headed to the mall with Natasha and Wanda. The same mall, in fact, that you and Steve had met in the first place.
“Where was it?” Wanda asked, wearing a very fashionable pair of shades.
“Right over there.” You pointed to the spot in front of the movie theater, up on the second floor of the mall. “Guy with a flamethrower and a dream. He’s in jail now.”
“Yeah, well, that’s what you get when you dream of arson.” Nat said, causing you and Wanda to laugh.
You shopped around for clothes, got some pretzels at the Wetzels, and window shopped. You already had what you were pretty sure you were going to wear the following night. It wasn’t every day one of the Avengers turned twenty five and met their soulmate. Tony was determined to make it a spectacle. He had a habit of doing that, it seemed.
In the food court, you seemed kind of down, chin resting against your fist. Wanda picked up on it first.
“It will all be okay, (Y/N). There is nothing to worry about.”
“Yeah, I know, I just…I don’t know. I’m stressed about it. Tomorrow I get the answer to the question I’ve been asking for twenty-five years. I just can’t believe it’s almost here. And…I don’t know, there’s just a lot of variables. What if they don’t like me?”
“Come on, (Y/N), what’s not to like?” Natasha said, digging her spoon into her blizzard from the Dairy Queen.
“I don’t know…It’s just a lot to think about.” You said, leaving it at that. You didn’t know how to begin to explain to them that you had feelings for someone already, one of your coworkers no less, and someone who already had a soulmate, despite the fact that he’d lost her nearly a century before.
You wondered why Steve never looked for her. Or maybe she’d passed before he even resurfaced. It was sad. A guy like that didn’t deserve the heartbreak. He deserved to be loved.
The three of you finished your shopping trip and then returned to the Facility, where you unpacked the new odds and ends you’d acquired. Steve checked on you again, offering you words of wisdom, a comforting hug. He promised that your soulmate would love you, whoever they were.
Little did you know, he already did.

“I have a question.”
It’s the first thing said that breaks the silence that had been looming in Riri’s room for the past hour. It was a comfortable silence, spent with the two of you laying in each other's arms. You’d snuggled up under Riri’s side as she was entranced in a pretty intense basketball game on her gaming console, you busying yourself by watching TikToks on your phone when she had opened the floor for a conversation.
“Yeah?” You respond, still entranced in your phone.
Riri took a pause, her fingers stilling on her controller. She bites her lip, choosing the next words carefully.
“What does a ring mean to you?”
You find yourself stilling with your scrolling as well, eyebrows furrowing as you tear your eyes from your screen to look up at the girl you were cuddled under. Her eyes had stayed glued to the television screen; probably because if Riri were to return your gaze, the practiced prose she had conjured up would have flown out the window.
“What do you mean?” You asked, rightfully confused by her choice of words. A second passes before Riri completely pauses her game to direct her attention to you.
“If I got you a ring, what would it mean to you?”
Many people would say that nineteen was too young to know the person you’d want to spend forever with. At nineteen, you’re supposed to be finishing your first year of college. At nineteen, you’re supposed to be partying with your friends, drinking the night away, figuring out what you want your twenties to look like.
At 19, you’re supposed to be taking risks. But Riri has had enough of taking risks.
You’d been the first good thing to happen to Riri in a long time. Since the death of her best friend. Since the whole ordeal with Wakanda and Talokan. And in the two years of knowing you, and the year of dating you, if anything had become more certain to the young engineer, it was that the way she felt about you was the kind of love her mother and step-father had. The kind of love you could feel from miles away, intense and all-knowing. And she had no intention of letting it go.
“I…I would love it, obviously,” you say, “i love anything you get me, Riri, even though I keep telling you I’on need nothin’-”
“-because having me is enough, yeah, yeah- that’s not the point.”
You move to sit up, and Riri helps you, snaking an arm around your waist, discarding her controller to the side as she puts all her attention on you now. She swears the thumping of her heart can be heard outside her body, it being so harsh and profound in her chest that it almost feels as if it shakes her being with each pump of blood in and out of the organ.
“What would it mean to you if I got you a ring?”
You took a moment, letting the thoughts swirl in your mind, trying to conjure up a response that would satisfy her. There isn’t a word imaginable that would describe the absolute joy you’d be in if the purpose of said jewelry piece was for what you thought it was for.
You took one of Riri’s hands into your own, the caramel velvet of her skin beautifully clashing with your own, molding together as if crafted to belong together.
“It would mean the world to me,” you say, and you’re sure you had more words to say, but once your eyes lock with hers, they get lost in your throat. Perhaps it was the intensity of her stare, and the amount of love they’ve always had for you, or perhaps it’s the way she gently pulls her hand from yours to rest under your chin, focusing your attention onto her, “why?”
Because I have a promise ring under my pillow with our marriage date engraved inside the band. Because I love you fucking much I can’t see life without you anymore. I’ve lost too much. I can’t lose you. I want to promise to be with you until we can make it official.
“Look under my pillow over there,” Riri hums.
There’s a tightness that rises in your chest; a good kind of tightness, anticipation for what you would find. The sound of rustling sheets fill the room as you reach up towards the head of the bed, a hand diving under the feather stuffed pillows, fishing around until your fingers curl around something small, cube like, velvet. You almost stall for a moment, but the hand on your lower back is a reminder that the anticipation you feel is maximized by ten for the engineer behind you. So you pull back, and with you comes the tiny jewelers box, as well as what you know to be inside of it.
A silence fills the room as your gaze switches between Riri and examining the velvet box in your hand.
“It ain’t the real thing yet, but-” Riri begins, her hand slipping the box from yours and into her own, opening the top to reveal the ring inside. It takes a minute for you to recognize that it’s the same ring you’d been gawking at in one of the jewelry stores window displays downtown a month prior. If your calculations were correct, that ring would have cost her at least a band; and if she got herself one as well, then more.
She takes the ring from it’s plush white crevice inside the box, holding it up for the both of you to see, “-I figured it’d be enough til we get everything right.”
It takes everything in you to hold back the tears swelling in your eyes, begging to fall from your lids. Speaking would have surely opened the floodgates as well. All you could do was allow her to hold your hand as she slipped the jewelry onto your ring finger, fitting perfectly onto it.
“I ain’t letting you go, (Y/N),” Riri proclaims, as one hand interlocks with your now ringed hand and the other fishes under her hoodie to reveal the silver chain, which has another ring hanging from it, as you suspected, “but I swear when I get my shit together, there won’t be anything that’s gon’ stop me from asking you.”
And yet, with the glistening in your eyes, and the tightness of which you hold her hand, Riri already knows your answer.

TUTOR
Tumblr media
warnings : none
pairing : peter parker (mcu) x reader
summary : when peter parker simply fell in love with you...
a/n : make any requests you want ! i'll be glad to do them if i can :)
The first time Peter Parker ever saw you, it was mid-february, when you juste came in and sat in the same classroom as he was. Professor Harrington introduced you as a new student, giving his speech saying people had to be nice.
Oh Peter wanted to be nice with you. But he immediately thought he would never had a chance. Of course, your hair looked so smooth, you seemed brilliant, and after a while he noticed the way this cute dimple would show up any time you smiled.. You were so pretty to his eyes, even too good to be true.
But you sat next to this other guy. Obviously you just sat at the first seat you saw, not knowing anybody. But he started talking. He was much more a talkative person as Peter ever would be, much more popular but also much more an asshole. And you noticed that quickly. Peter knew you did, because he kept observing you any time he had the chance, and he saw the way you'd back up a little when this other guy would talk to your face. The way you avoided catching his sight. You did stay in his friends group though, and that's what Peter didn't understand.
He was just thinking about it, at lunch, while Ned was telling him about this new game he cracked yesterday. "Hey, are you even listening to me right now ?" he asked, turning his head in the same direction Peter had. "Ah, I see" , Ned kept going.
Peter would sometimes - pretty often - daydream about how would it be to date you. Would you agree to spend lunch time with him and Ned ? Go to his place ? To hold his hand in public ? Or even kiss him ?
"Why don't you go and talk to her ?" asked a girl who was sitting at the same table. MJ constantly watched as Peter was almost drooling on himself just by seeing you.
"W-What ? Why would I go-" he started before getting cut off. "Come on, not to me" she answered. "You've been addicted to {Y/N} since day one". Peter frowned, denying, but he knew this could never change her mind. "MJ's got a point, dude. And maybe you have a chance with {Y/N}, who knows !?" Ned said and his friend immediately looked around to see if anyone might have heard. "Shh Ned are you crazy ?? And don't say stupid things like that.. Both of you". "Whatever", MJ replied, "But it seems like she wouldn't say no if you asked her to try a new friends group. Her's pretty lame".
Peter slowly raised an eyebrow and looked back at you, to see you walking in his direction. He was wondering, what was happening ? Were you actually going towards him ? You met his eyes and gently smiled, not really knowing how to act with him.
"Hi" you started when you reached his table. Peter looked at Ned who was way more excited to see you talking to him. He elbowed him so he could answer you. "Hum, h-hi ?" "Can we do anything for you ? Can Peter do anything for you ?" Ned immediately asked to help his friend. MJ rolled her eyes just by hearing the conversation.
"Yeah, actually" you smiled. "Mr Harrington told me to talk to you... It seems like you've been chosen to be my tutor. Im Y/N, by the way". You didn't really like asking for this - even though you did not really choose it - but Peter immediately nodded, shyly but still. "Yeah -yes of course no problem !" he replied. "Great ! Thank you. We can meet later at the library ?" you proposed. "The library is closed this week, what a shame !! Though, you should go to Peter's. The.. Temperature is great there. You know, to work..." Ned tried to keep going, making you smirk a little bit. You noticed how Peter's eyes suddenly became wide and the red colouring his cheeks. "Oh, well if you don't mind... You know what ? Just text me later today" you gave him your number under his flabbergasted eyes. He nodded and you went to class after smiling at him one last time. It is probably that exact smile that made him realise how screwed he was.
Peter did text you later that day, sending you his address and how to get there from school. You suggested to join him there at 6:00pm to what he agreed.
You arrived in front if his flat in Queens and called him so he could open, and there you were, on his dining room table, tons of books spread out next to you both. He spent a whole hour explaining all the little details that were important in every chapter that you've missed. Good for him, you were a fast learner, something that made him like you even more. He would ask you some questions to check if you were following, and you always were. That kept going until his aunt came back home. "Hey Pete, I've been trying to reach you out for an hour now and you- oh", she smiled widely, "Hello. Excuse me I didn't know you had company", she said, looking at both of you in turn. "May this is Y/N", he said, hoping she wouldn't say anything embarrassing. "Hi, I'm sorry I hope I'm not bothering. Peter is helping me with all the things I've missed at school. I'm a new student".
"No of course it's no problem ! I am always glad to meet Pete's friends. You can even stay for dinner ! Just make sure to tell your parents" she added and didn't wait for your answer before going to another room.
"You don't have to" Peter said, "Stay for dinner, I mean. N-not that I don't want you to stay, I mean you- I don't mind if you stay. At all ! It's just- ugh - if you have anything else to do, don't feel forced to stay here". You smiled at him as an answer before adding "I'd be glad to stay, I don't have any important plans".
So there you were, sitting at the small kitchen table with Peter and his aunt who had just ordered food, since the dish she started had burnt. It was simply pizzas from this place you didn't know, but Peter assured you they were the best.
"There. Start with this one, Joe's an expert at it". And indeed, you were surprised by the amazing taste of this basic pizza. Dinner kept going, and May wanted to know more about you, much to Peter's despair, even though he was interested by anything you were saying.
"From what Peter told me, you quickly made a name for yourself at school. Do you move a lot ?" she asked. "Yeah, actually. I've moved like, 12 times because of my father's job. I repeated a grade because of it" you answered with a sad smile. "Wait you're a year older ?" Peter suddenly said. "Oh no, I skipped a grade in primary school, so it's like it never changed". Peter nodded "Must be hard, I mean, moving all the time".
You looked at him quite surprised. People usually thought you were lucky because you were able to travel and meet a lot of people. Thing is, when you move that much, you don't really have time to get used to the place and make real friends. And it seemed like Peter guessed that. You liked the fact that he wasn't superficial, like a lot of people. So you smiled slightly, letting the cute dimple that he liked make its appearance "Kind of. But it feels like im gonna stick around for a while, this time". And you might didn't know, but at this exact moment, Peter never had been more thrilled.

—They will be Loved—
Tumblr media
So after finishing the Multiverse of Madness film, I had an idea of a story where the reader is the Widow of Black Widow (see what I did there?) and is also the spirit of Vengeance because Ghost Rider needs an R-Rated MCU Film, and shares his grief with an also grieving Wanda.
Strange Had requested help with a “little” issue as he called it, little being an absolute lie since it’s dealing with the god damn multiverse, but you relented and agreed. It’s been, lonely since Nat left and the avengers are gone, it’ll be nice to at least get out of the house.
You rode down the countryside, the hum of your chopper in your ears and the wind on your face, you went to the orchad of Mrs Maximoff. it was often you did the dirty work of others. This one, was personal though. Wanda did some things many would consider simply evil, but it’s not always so cut and dry with things like this. The white petal orchard trees lined the side of the road and nearing her home, a voice of pure evil calls from the back of your head like a speaker.
“I sense immense magic here..” the Spirit of Vengeance, my others self you could say, was speaking to you
“Yeah, I felt it too..” You replied, I saw from the corner of my eye a woman grafting the orchard. You slowly came to a halt and halted your bike and kicked up the stand. Stepping off, you approached her, the warm scent of apple and grass felt so, human. And you haven’t felt human in a long time.
You get behind her, and she obviously senses your presence.
“Apples, right?” You ask, trying to break the ice with your old friend. “Nat would have loved it..” you start.
“Eventually.” Wanda replies in Jest, she turns to face you and you can see that her beauty hasn’t changed at all. Those beautiful eyes hold so much grief behind them. You nod, “It’s almost to good to be true, you know?” You say, trying to hint at Wanda.
“It's all very real. Thanks. I put the magic behind me.” She said to you, she walks off to continue pruning limbs and you casually follow her, “Well, I knew sooner or later you'd... show up, wanting to discuss what happened at WestView. I made mistakes, and people were hurt.” She said, the pain in her eyes, her power was neatly unmatched, and that lead to catastrophic consequences.
“I'm not here to talk about WestView Wanda.” You say.
“Then what are you here for?”
“Strange, needs your help.” You start.
“With what?” She inquired, you rubbed your chin trying to think of a way to explain. “You, ever come across the concept of, the Multiverse?” You said, Wanda didn’t look as confused as you thought she would.
“The Multiverse. Vis had his theories. He believed it was real. And, dangerous.” She drops the limbs into a crate and then gives her full attention to you.
“Well, he was right about that. From what he told me, he found a girl who can somehow travel across it but she's being pursued.” You say.
“Pursued by who?”
“Some kind of demon. From what strange told me, I’d go with Underworld Deity, a Trickster wouldn’t try to take her by force but trick her into giving her soul or powers away. Strange is ready to defend her, and we could use another Avenger.” You offer, trying to get a smile out of Wanda, she gives you a sad one.
“There are other Avengers, (Y/n).”
“Yeah but, it’s not really the same, besides between Clint, A Teenager webslinger, and …Whatever I am. We’re the best line of defense for her.” You explain, and Wanda poses a question.
“What if you brought America here?” She asks.
“Here?” You reply? And the spirit in your head also picks it up.
“She knows the name of America Chavez…”
“Yeah, she’s been stalking her..” you think, and Wanda goes on.
“Yeah. I know what it's like. To be on your own, hunted for abilities you never wanted. I can protect her.” She explains, you continue to look at Wanda, not saying anything as she realizes her slip up.
“..You never told me her name, did you?” She asks, now realizing she’s been had.
“No. No, I didn't.” You reply, Wanda sighs, and looks around. “You know, the Hex was the easy part. The lying, not so much.”
Wanda calmly moves her hand, which dispels the illusion and reveals the truly hellish world she’s been on, it’s blood red, mixed with such evil darkenss, no life, no trees, no happy little farm. And what stood there for you, was a Book. The, Book.
“The Darkhold.” You felt its eternal power reach out to you, ready to swallow you whole. You fight its call of power and hear Wanda.
“You've heard of the Darkhold?” She asks you, turning your eyes to her, you see her dawned not in regular civilian clothes, but that of the Scarlet Witch.
“it's the Book of the Damned. And that it corrupts everything and everyone that it touches. The Way Chthon intended it, it shows you falsehoods and a sense of power you will never control.”
“The Darkhold only showed me the truth. Everything I lost... can be mine again.” She said, somehow believing her own lies, you shook your head in disbelief, that Wanda would go so, far.
“What do you want with America? And What do you want with the Multiverse?” You demand, and she gives up her plan.
“I'm going to leave this reality, and go to one where I can be with my children.” She said, but you calmly countered.
“Wanda, your children aren't real. They were made from magic.”
“That's what every mother does. If you knew... there was a universe, where you were happy, happy with Natasha, with a family, wouldn't you wanna go there?” She asks you, and admittedly, she’s right. A simple life on the countryside, away from the Spy games and Occult evil, a world where you’re happy. Your anger slowly transformed into melancholic empathy, you frowned softly to Wanda.
“You know… Nat couldn’t have kids, so we considered adopting. It was the last thing we talked about. She really would have loved any child we had. I know it can’t compare to you and Viz though. It’s not enough that, In Many other universes, they’ll be loved?” You ask, Wanda’s walls come down for a moment and you saw the real Her. A grieving mother and widow. A tear comes down her eye, and she couldn’t reply.
“You’re right, I would love a world where I can be happy with Nat, love her, hold her… but in order to do that I’d have to kill a version of myself that’s happy. I can’t do that, I can’t kill a version of myself for my own happiness. If I did that, would I even deserve to be happy? Would you kill a version of yourself that’s happy because you’re not?” You reply. Just for a moment you saw Wanda’s eyes have a hint of remorse in them. “Wanda, what you plan do to will cause irreparable damage to our universe and the one you intended to murder and implant yourself inside, if you try to child's power, she won't survive.” You warn her, but it seems she unfortunately stuck in a fusion of corruption and grief.
“I don't relish hurting anyone, (Y/n). But she's not a child. She's a supernatural being. Such raw power could wreak havoc on this, and other worlds. Her sacrifice would be for the greater good.” She said, still trying to justify this absolutely diabolical behavior.
“You’re starting to sound just like Him, the same man who killed Vision and half of the universe.” You shake you Head, turning away from her to walk away.
“Strange killed half of the universe When he gave Thanos the Time Stone.” She retorts back to you. You halt in your steps and slowly turn back to her.
“He breaks the rules and becomes a hero. I do it and I become the enemy. That doesn't seem fair.” She replies, You Storm over, frustration coming to a boil, she could see it, the red burning flame in your eyes, the Ghost Rider.
“That was different, Strange gave Thanos the stone because it’s the only way in Fourteen Million outcomes that we beat Thanos. You want it to bring back children that don’t exist for you, Strange was Selfless, you’re just Selfish.” The venom in your words, they haunt Wanda, the growing disconnect between her and reality was apparent.. she shook off your threat.
“Return to Kamar-Taj, and prepare to hand over America Chavez by sundown. Peacefully. After that... You'll never see me again.” She bargains.
“And if I refuse?” You ask, and her sinister aura changes.
“Then it won’t be Wanda who comes for her, it will be the Scarlet Witch.” With those haunting words, she turns to walk away, you felt a blend of anger, sadness, grief all your own.
“Wanda..” you say, she stood still but didn’t turn to face you.
“I… I Miss the people that we used to be..” you say. Wanda gives a shaky sigh, you can hear her trying not to break down into tears.
“.. So do I Pral..” she mutters before leaving, as much as it tore you apart, as much as you hated it. This, could only end one way.

“Happy six months babe,” your partner Jack said seductively into your ear. The two of you were in a hotel room celebrating your anniversary. Jack flew in to celebrate as you were in Atlanta shooting Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The past six months with him have been incredible, and he has always been a kind and safe person to talk to. Except recently, when things have become a little award around a certain topic.
You and Jack were in the middle of a heated make-out session when you felt him grab the hem of your shirt. Like always, you grabbed his hand and put them back on your hips. “Seriously babe, can we not do this tonight,” you said as you let go of the kiss and leaned against his forehead. He threw his head back against the couch and let out a groan. “Y/n, we have been together for six months. SIX MONTHS. Why don't you trust me?” Jack said. You got off and moved to sit next to him as you took his hand. “Jack, I keep telling you that sex is a big deal, and I'm not ready for it yet. I don't know when, but I'm asking you for patience.” Jack leaned over and kissed you on the lips.
“You know I love you right?” Jack said looking at you. You gave a subtle nod to him, “and I really want to have sex with you. Don't you want to have sex with me?” he asked. “Jack, I don't know yet, okay?” you said as water lined your eyes. Jack got up from the sofa and headed for the bathroom, “where are you going?” you asked, not even looking at him afraid the tears would start falling. “To jerk myself off 'cause you won't fucking do it,” he spoke with a raised voice as he slammed the door.
Those events all transpired last night.
Now you were back on set, and your tension has been weird since then. You sat in your chair, drinking water on the hot Atlanta stage when you heard two voices come through the stage doors.
“The red ones are the best, no doubt.” you heard one voice say. “It's obviously the green ones Mack; you just have no taste,” sassed the second voice as they got closer to you. “Hey Y/N! What's the best skittle flavor?” Anthony Mackie asked as your other costar Sebastian Stan stood next to him. You quickly put on a small smile, responding “Yellow obviously.” The boys shook their heads and continued arguing for each of their flavors until they noticed you weren’t inputting yourself into their shenanigans like usual. “You okay Buttercup?” Mackie asked with a thoughtful look in his eyes.
You trusted these two like brothers, always being there for you in times of need. Taking a breath, you continued saying “Can I talk to you guys later, maybe?” you asked looking at these men hopefully. Seb smiled and wrapped the metal arm around your shoulders, bringing you into a side hug. “Oh, course Y/n. How about during lunch, we chill in my trailer and chat,” he proposed looking down on you. You smiled back at him; “Sounds perfect.”
By the time lunch rolled around, you, Seb, and Mackie were on the floor of Sebastian's trailer. Craft’s Services had a taco truck for lunch, and each of you had your water by your side. “So,” Seb said as he had a piece of lettuce hanging out of his mouth, “what's up in that brain of yours?” he spoke with a smile on his face. You finished sipping your water before wiping your mouth and speaking.
“When did you guys lose your virginity?”
It just so happened when you said that, both men had water in their mouths and some trickled out. “Um,” Sebastian chuckled,” well I was a senior in high school. A girl I meet at Stagedoor Manor. And I lied about being a virgin and we both had absolutely no clue what we were doing.” You turned to look at Mackie. “It was in my first serious relationship. I knew sex was important to me, and I wanted to wait till I was ready.” You looked up from your taco when Mackie spoke. “Did you feel that you were ready to lose it?”
The boys looked at each other and then looked at you. They knew about you and Jack, and only met him a couple times but from how you described him to them, he seemed like a good guy. Or so they thought. “Is Jack pressuring you to be ready?” Mackie spoke to you quietly. You set your taco down as you leaned back against the couch cushion you set up on the floor.
“Kinda. I keep on telling him that I need time to think about if I want to have sex, cause its a big deal to me. And every time we make out, he always tries to initiate it and I keep on saying no. and he did it again last night when we were celebrating our anniversary, and he Keeps on talking about how I don't trust him. and how if I love him I would have sex with him.” You said in rant-style toned.
“First of all, he shouldn't be pressuring you at all. It's not HIS place to say when YOU are ready.  got that?” Mackie responded quickly. You nodded your head as he waited for him to continue. “Have you guys talked at all since last night?” Seb asked politely. “I tried reaching out to him, but we haven't spoken. And it hurts cause I do love him, but annoyed he doesn't respect my boundaries.”
“Break up with him,” Seb said bluntly as he took a huge bit of his taco. “That’s not your place to say,” you spoke angrily. “Look, you are asking us for advice, and I'm giving you some. Is he making you uncomfortable in this situation?” Seb said looking at you. “I mean kin-” you said before Mackie spoke up. “Do you think he will ever respect your boundaries?” Mackie questioned. “Maybe ov-”
“EHH! Nope wrong answers. You should be able to answer those with a confident yes. Otherwise, he isn't worth your time.” Mackie continued over you. You know they were right, and you have been thinking about it for a while. But this talk really helped you solidify your decision.
“I'll think you guys are right,” you spoke as you took a final bite out of your taco. Mackie scoffed, “Damn right we are.” he added as he got up to throw away his trash. “We just care about you, Y/n, and don't want to see you in an unhealthy relationship,” Seb commented. You gave them both a soft, warm, smile. “Thank you.”
“Now,” Seb said as he took the giant jar of skittles from behind his back and placed it in the circle, “let's really figure out which flavor is the best.”

I am feeling a weird mix of surprise and non-surprise about the Valkyrie/Carol news... Time for me to make a bad choice and talk about the MCU on main again (I am so sorry)...
The reports of queer storytelling being watered-down in The Marvels should not be surprising. They line up with what has happened every time a creative sets out to do queer representation in the MCU. It gets slowly watered down, scenes get cut, and it ends up feeling very bare-minimum in the final project, regardless of how much/little passion the actual creators involved feel about it.
This is what happened with Aneka/Ayo in Black Panther, with Valkyrie in the Thor movies, and with America Chavez in Doctor Strange. It's an expected, depressing, pattern of behaviour.
That said, I feel like the vibe is slightly different in this time because... The previous examples are all with characters who kind of have to be queer? Like they are characters who are VERY queer in the comics. They are not just people who have had a Queer Moment[TM], kissing a girl once or being implied to be using gay dating apps, but they are characters whose motivations, desires, and themes as characters are pretty directly linked with their queer identities and relationships.
Tumblr media
These characters are all pretty gay gay homosexual gay. If you want to use them in your story, you kind of have to acknowledge their queerness in some form... even if it ends up feeling pretty token in how it is depicted in the movies themselves.
So, while these reports of queerphobic censorship fits this mold, Carol Danvers herself... doesn't?
Carol is not Officially[TM] queer in the comics. She has been written by writers who obviously want her to be queer and a lot of her audience is queer, but she is not, at the time of me writing this, officially a corporate-approved queer. She's less Batwoman and more Dick Grayson, if that DC comparison makes any sense... She can appear in the Pride issues, but it's officially as an ally and she's squeezing Rhodey's chin.
Tumblr media
So... I'm really curious what was going on behind-the-scenes of this movie. Had Carol been explicitly queer in the film, would there have been plans to have her come out in the comics as well? Could those plans still be in place even with the water-down depiction of Valkyrie and Carol's relationship that we got in the movie? Her ongoing comic is currently in the hands of a queer creative team...
And, honestly, if Carol was out in the comics, I wonder if The Marvels would have been considered an already-explicitly-queer movie. Sure, there was just a kiss on the cheek, but Valkyrie got a hand-kiss in Love and Thunder and Aneka and Ayo got a forehead-kiss in Wakanda Forever, so it's not like Marvel Studios haven't had official Gay Moments[TM] that end up being shy of a kiss on the lips before...
Idk. That's just some thoughts I've been having and I needed to get them off my chest somehow... Hope this post was interesting to people!

Shooting for the Moon
This is a fill for today's @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt [#FFF240 Broken Moonlight] as well as my @thehawkeyesbingo A1 - Werewolf AU square. It's also a POV-swap remix of A Hairy Situation.
Fandom: MCU/Marvel Pairing: Bucky Barnes/ Clint Barton Rating: General Tags:  No Powers AU,  Werewolf AU, werewolf!Bucky,  hookup to dating,  Summary:  Bucky was surprised to find himself in a former hookup’s bed after having wolfed out; but maybe he shouldn’t have been.   Word Count: 811
Bucky ached all over, his head was pounding like crazy and he’d swear his  tongue was covered in fur … unlike the rest of him, which no longer was.
While none of this was unexpected, waking up in bed - instead of a filthy alley or under a tree in Prospect Park - was very much out of the ordinary.  Even more so the fact that it was someone else’s bed,  and very much still occupied by said someone.
The last thing Bucky remembered was staring up at the moon, its light broken up by bands of clouds, but its power over him still very much in effect.   He’d been out for vengeance - and from what he could vaguely recall, he’d more than settled that score.
It still didn’t explain what he was doing here,  in bed next to a man who was not only still breathing; in fact, he was snoring slightly, and smelled vaguely familiar on top of everything.  One more impossible thing to believe before breakfast, Bucky supposed.
He opened his eyes to see  the back  of a dark, sandy blond head; no help there.   “Huh? Wh’re ‘m I?” Bucky managed to mumble around slightly too-large teeth; apparently spoken words were still a bit of a challenge.
The man rolled over, stared at him for a shocked moment and blurted out “James?!”
“Clint?!  Oh my god, did I…?”  Bucky was equally shocked to discover he’d somehow ended up in the apartment of a former hookup.  A hookup that maybe he’d managed to fall a little bit for, too.   He went to sit up and a sharp stabbing pain in his side made him hiss; he pressed his hand to his side to discover  a couple of loops of elastic wrap wrapped loosely around his torso.
Break into my apartment while you were all wolfed out? Yeah. But you obviously didn’t tear me limb from limb, so that’s a win.”   Clint flashed him what was probably meant to be a reassuring smile, but Bucky was still too busy trying to process what had happened.
He looked down at his side to see a knife wound every bit of five inches long; its inflamed edges proof that silver had been involved, but clearly it had been cleaned and bandaged.  “You let a werewolf into your home,” he asked in disbelief, poking at the elastic wrap, “and then … gave it first aid?”
“You snuck in through the window and scared the hell out of me at first, but then I saw you were hurt.” Clint shrugged. “For what it’s worth, you were a pretty good patient. What do you remember about last night?”
Bucky gave a guarded explanation, finding Clint’s reaction to the mention of Wanda somehow encouraging.  Maybe he had more of a chance with him than he’d thought.  When Clint asked why he’d come here, Bucky danced around the question, focusing on what had happened to his victim.
But Clint wasn’t that easily put off, and when he asked again why Bucky had come to his apartment after the fight,  he decided honesty was the best policy.  I … uh … guess part of me thought this would be a safe place. That I could … trust you.”
Even though I never heard back from you after our little hookup?”  Clint’s response was a little sharp, and entirely earned.
“That was kind of shitty of me, wasn’t it?”  Bucky admitted. “But it’s not like I can let anyone get close, not with being what I am.”
When Clint assured him that his secret was safe,  Bucky’s heart skipped a beat; after  thanking him, he nearly kissed Clint, but was afraid of pushing too far, too fast.  Sure, they’d fooled around, but that was a one night stand kind of thing.  What Bucky truly wanted was so much more.
As if he hadn’t intruded on Clint’s life too much already, Bucky shamefacedly asked if he could borrow something to wear home.  One drawback of being a shifter was the whole clothing - and lack thereof - situation.
Once he was dressed, Bucky had one more request.  “I hate to ask you for anything else, but I am dying for a cup of coffee.”
“Unfortunately, I’m all out.” Clint replied, “but there’s a pretty good diner about a block away from here. How about we head over there together? My treat.”
“That kind of sounds like a date.”  Bucky said before he could think better of it.
“Because it kind of is.”
Bucky couldn’t leave well enough alone -  he had to know for sure that Clint was on board with everything that he was.  “Even with the whole ‘wolfing out’ thing?”
“Call me crazy,” Clint replied with a grin, “but yeah.”
Bucky couldn’t help but break out into a relieved grin in return. “Huh. In that case, call me Bucky. All my friends do.”

(mcu!)Peter's love for Spider-Man
I saw a few reddit comments that frankly really bothered me, so I just wanted to ramble about how Peter being somewhat bothered by having to be Spider-Man in ffh and nwh (ffh esp) is more than insanely justified. He will never hate being Spider-Man, infact i think his trauma likely will spur him on to do more and more, either as an escape or a chance to help people the way he hadn't been helped, either way I believe post nwh Peter definitely still finds his joy in being Spider-Man, it'd be literally impossible to just up and make him stop. This part is more of a personal hc before I get into the rest of the post, but I think if he desired to give Spider-Man up after everything, he would have chosen to make the world forget that instead, from what I understand it would have still relieved his troubles, as nobody knows who Spider-Man is, so why would they know Peter?
Far From Home. People take the way Peter acts during the film as him no longer liking being Spider-Man, and it frankly feels very.. ignorant of like literally everything Peter has gone through, honestly. ffh is post endgame, which good fucking god - that is the most trauma inducing experience any possible 15 (16?) year old teen could endure, now im talking both infinity war and endgame, because both are just as bad. In infinity war, he obviously fights alot, not as much as he does in the second film, but it's still very rough, and well he sorta dies, which I'm sure takes a rather extreme toll on him as he could likely feel absolutely everything happening, because of his healing factor, and spidey sense, it's just a very very scary experience, hell I wouldn't be shocked if Peter was drop dead terrified everytime he felt his spidey sense, (he isn't, but I wouldn't put it past being very possible).
And, in endgame he had to hold the gauntlet for an extended period of time from an insane amount of creatures, he literally was holding the future of the entire world in his hands, I would imagine that'd be actually very, very scary. He's consistently put in unfair positions and made to just 'deal' with it, I'm sure he expected some of this but I cant firmly believe he thought he'd end up in such a crazy situation. Now, most obviously the very big part of endgame - Tony Stark fucking died dude!?!?! Let the kid have some time to grieve... not that he ended up getting any, he's literally already lost his parents, (possible uncle), and now his pseudo father, and shit does he lose more right after in such a tiny timespan.
Point is, yeah the fact he want's a goddamn break is not the most insane thing that's happened, god forbid a thoroughly traumatized teenager wants a break without needing to have the burdens of the world (literally) on him again. It just gets to me each time there are such crazy expectations for him, as if any a bunch other characters or people wouldn't literally crumble into pieces if they experienced the amount of stress a kid like Peter is holding constantly. We also get an actual insight on an exact thing I mentioned, where he has a talk with Mysterio where he just wanted to be a normal kid for at least a few seconds, and god is he owed all of that and more. He never got a break, he never got a real chance to comprehend everything that went around him, he got pulled into a fucking other world crisis and yeah - sue him for being exhausted, and not motivated to attempt that all again.
No Way Home. Okay, to start this off - What the fuck? I don't know how obvious it has to be, but the fact Peter is not ecstatic to be Spider-Man after not only having his "identity revealed, but (all I'm about to say is from ffh, still going to get into nwh in a second) almost being killed multiple times, been manipulated by another adult in his life, had his trauma and losses smeared all across his face, faced with taking down an entire insanely large army of killer - explosive - drones, also faced with the fear of accidentally being the cause for a massive incident", is a VERY fair reason, I genuinely think if he stopped being Spider-Man right then and there, everybody he knew would probably support him, because god the things he went through is mind boggling, I don't know how to capture the amount of damage that must have done to Peter, not even just mentally but like quite literal brain damage, he's a kid - no world this severe amount of trauma is taken any forms of lightly. (Which is sorta shown, when Happy goes to pick up Peter on the flower field, and Peter being afraid of Happy maybe not being real)
I wish people gave Peter more credit than they think he deserves, also god Peter fights to be Spider-Man still all throughout nwh, he does his 'duty' by saving all the villains (whilst experiencing the most heinous levels of grief, post May's death), and does everything he can to save the people of their possible destruction, etc. One could fight for the fact Peter.. sorta did cause all of that, even if indirectly - but honestly, I genuinely cannot imagine a different outcome. "What if he went to the lady first, like Strange suggested" It definitely would have not worked, she literally only agreed because he saved her from a being that wouldn't exist had it not been for the earlier mess up, I literally cannot imagine how he would have been able to get any of fixed or back to a state of tolerable at the very least. Peter deserves (and wants) to not live his life as horrible as expected it'd be, he'd never get to any form of normal again, everything he loved was on the line, and half of the world hated him, (alot, wanted him dead or -behind bars).
Peter Parker is just a kid, that is the first and foremost the most important aspect to his character, because the way everything is affected is so so different its ridiculous, the way he will function as a whole when older is very starkly different had this happened to somebody around the age as most of the avengers, all because his brain is just simply not capable of handling such amount's of trauma, or stress. And the way he functions now is so important too, because he's a kid, n' hell will it be obvious how childish he can think or act.
Lastly, another thing I simply hate that people do is when they find the idea of Peter having trauma unrealistic. I'm very much thinking too hard about his character probably, but he is a character with such complex details, and his life is splayed out infront of us through the films, giving us every event that could likely be a cause of something to happen one day, or something that is a cause of an action he already did. I hate that people think just because he's a movie character he's unable to be an actual person in his world, like how everything is simply black and white when it comes to characterization.
Side Note, - this totally turned into just plain out angry rambling, as I've been just annoyed as a whole ever since I started writing this all. so mind anything I say that may be incorrect, I'm defensive about Spider-Man at 8am in the morning and I haven't slept yet, so typos will be made, and some sentences will probably seem confusing.
(next day now and I think i fixed everything(??), I had decided to post this tomorrow/now when I was more comprehensible)

late night thoughts about sylvie
- its even more clear this season that she is loki’s foil in every single possible way and its highlighted so many times
- i hate the idea of sylki selfcest as much as any other person, but you gotta admit that when disregarding all the outside-of-plot bullshit (disney being homophobic or just not caring about the characters) it is sort of an interesting dynamic (mostly during this season) because i think that trying to figure out how to act with a version of yourself, someone who you know to their core because you have the same one, someone you could have been but aren’t and desperately want to stop them from heading down a road you could have gone or have gone, is a sort of difficult experience
- so yeah ill be disappointed if sylki happens again because i think that it makes much more sense that they exist as the same person with the same thinking processes and mentalities but aimed at different goals - simpler put sort of the same plane but different direction, or same root different philosophy
- so i think its compelling and frustrating to have someone that you know has the potential of seeing your point of view perfectly and understanding you deeply but still taking the same base data (lets say) and interpreting them in a very different way
- i think the most clear example of that is the pie room conversation - they know perfectly well how and why the other is choosing the sides and interpretations and actions that they do, but in the end they reach vastly different conclusions
- and in that moment i think loki’s connection to sylvie is very clearly shown: not only he sees his past lost lonely self in her, he also understands her like he understands himself and wants to show her that his way might be better for them
- also of course in the “its time to write your own story” “i can rewrite the story” parallels
- and i think it would be fitting if both of their perspectives affected what will happen in the finale (although my own opinion is that loki is the one more in the right and given that he is the main character and had the greatest development he should have most of the impact on how the season is resolved)
- but i also think that ultimately the writers can take a different approach and make them unfoil lets say and find common ground which can of course unfortunately end with yet another moment of selfcest
- bonus thought is that the show has to somehow connect after this to the rest of the mcu so i dont think that any connection to sylvie will be very permanent i think shes going to be more like a stray cat that stumbles into the plot when it wants or is dragged in kicking and scratching when needed
but then again this is just a pile of semicoherent thoughts so take from that what you will
- bonus thought #2 once again when we disregard the outside of the plot, i think sylvie isnt meant to be exactly likeable (or at the very least, that isnt the purpose of the character) - she is meant to do precisely what she is doing, foiling loki (a character we obviously root for) and showing us his emotional and mental and philosophical insides through her reflection as well as being a sympathetic and understandable character because she shows us that alternative mindset that we might not necessarily agree with (or do agree with! it just gives us something to compare loki’s own decidions and perspectives to)

(Accidental nephew AU) so, nwh home happens. Peter is erased from everyone’s mind. He reaches out to the sinister six, subtly cause he’s still ✨deeply traumatized and thinks everyone is better off which out him✨ who are now hitting very hard and going for kill shots like before.
He be delirious from blood loss and sleep deprivation and like the effects of not having a job or place to live with no record of your existence shows up at Montana’s apartment. Now they realize something’s off after he, tries to, drag himself away after they respectfully freak the fuck out. Montana being the holder of the singular brain cell, brings Pete into the bathroom and stitches him up, which triggers his memories. Or however else you want the memories to come back, maybe Pete manages to leave which causes them to investigate his identity yada yada cue the horror and fluff.
You can do whatever you want with this, this is a cool funky thought exercise so yeah, up to you. Sorry that this isn’t a west hope u don’t mind. I’m sorry I’m like so tired rn. Like. Sorry if I came off as rude or whatever, have a nice car ride!
lowkey, was just gonna just jot down thoughts but then it became a short. Whoops. So obviously the Mcu thing can’t happen the same way, but I vaguely recall Peter making a deal with a demon in a comic that the world would be save from like ending if his wife forgot him. So something similar happened here. No one rembers him. May died in whatever was ending the world that no one recalls. Before poisioned heartbeat for sure
And no! Not rude not at all!! Thank you!
Peter might be dying. Maybe. Ever since the world had forgotten him, everything had been so much worse. Criminals were worse than ever. At least, it felt that way because he knows they could be kind. And now they are trying to kill him again. He misses his uncles. He misses his aunt. He misses clean food and warmth. He misses Aunt May so bad it is a physical ache. He curls up on himself as he sits on a rooftop, stomach chewing at him.
His metabolism hates him. And so does his healing factor everything is so much slower to heal now and more and more scars decorate his skin. He silently chews on his lip. The sound of sirens has him moving despite the ache in his joints and the dirty bandages wrapped infected wounds. But his city needs him. And no one else could do what he could. He would have to force down the pain of not holding back for his uncles. Not his uncles. They don’t remember him. And that is the only way they are safe.
Bleeding out and starving are two of Peters least favorite hobbies that he is forced to participate in. The world swims as he stares at his empty first aid kit. He has to find something to wrap up his side. The burns across across his face make him feel half delirious. He stands and creeps out of the condemned building he had taken residence in.
As he moves, rain starts pounding down from the sky. A drumbeat of sorrow against his feverish skin. His fingers slip into his pocket and cling to his keys. Maybe… maybe they would be asleep. Maybe he could sneak in. The fever takes away all rationality as his feet walk a familiar path. Maybe he is just too stupidly desperate to keep going on. He might as well die at the hands of those he knows in a place he loves.
He feels bad that he bloodies the door with his hands as he shakily attempts to put the key in the lock. His fumbling is loud and his ears ring with every tink of metal on metal. He falls into the apartment when the door suddenly opens. He yelps as his decent to the floor is halted by an arm. Peter suddenly recalls this is a terrible idea and starts crying as Montana rights him on his feet.
“Kid?”
Peter sees just about everyone in the room beyond. All of his uncles minus Tombstone. And the weight of being alone for a month snaps his heart in twain. He curls into himself with a muffled sob.
“I’m sorry uncle Montana. I’ll go. I’m sorry. Sorry. Sorrysorrysorry.”
He’s failed. He was supposed to be okay on his own. To be able to make that needed sacrifice. Tears cut across his bruised face as all his uncles just stare. And then Montana straightens and tugs him toward the bathroom.
“Come on son. Nothin to be sorry for. Lets clean you up. Quen, grab some spare clothes outta my room. Dan, get me some ice.”
Peter is too out of it to think of potential ramifications as he is pulled into the bathroom. Montana pauses at the sight of the Spider-Man suit, but then keeps working, hands steady even as his eyes harden. Peter whimpers and cries, but does not try to fight or get away. He is so tired, and so hungry. He knaws on his lip and Montana gently chides him. He finds a spoon full of peanut butter replacing the nervous tick.
Montana leans back after Peter is wrapped and dressed and tilts his head.
“You know me. And have a key to my house little hero. I don’t give those out lightly.”
Peter pulls knees up to his chin. He does not respond to the question directly. All his words are for a man who does not exist anymore. For without memory, are people really the same?
“I missed you. And I knew I would. But I thought I could make it. Save the city and survive alone. But I can’t and I need you unle Montana. But you’re not here anymore. You said I’d always be welcome. But that’s not true. And it’s not your fault it’s not true. I just…”
His words leave him as he is pulled into a hug. He clings tight its his fingers as his nose takes in the smell of earth and metal. For a moment he pretends everything is as it once was.
“Kid… I’m sorry.”
He holds tighter, sure he is going to be sent out again.
“But if I told you were welcome and gave you a key, then your always welcome. Even if my memory is failing me. You need someone in your corner; ain’t right for you to be beaten down and have no body.”
Peter relaxes. Montana gives a gentle squeeze and then speaks again.
“Now, son. What’s your name?”
“Peter. Peter Parker.”
The sound of a distant chime and the smell of brimstone greet his senses and the hug becomes that much tighter.
“Peter! Oh Peter!”
Recognition laces his uncle’s tone. His hair is ruffled and he is pulled closer. He is safe. He is home.

when clint passed y/n on the way to the kitchen, he was pretty sure she hissed at him.
similarly, when sam smiled at her, muttering a good morning as he handed her a cup of coffee, he’d heard a guttural, almost-demonic groan emit from her. he’d scrambled out of the room quickly, not hoping to be on the bad side of whatever that was.
subsequently, natasha, tony, and wanda all had similar experiences with her. even rhodey, coming in between meetings with the secretary of state and the vice president, had managed to receive a non-verbal but almost more understandable show of discontent from her. though, he reasoned she was still infinitely better than secretary ross.
so, when steve walked into the kitchen - passing by her - everyone stayed nearby, watching with bated breath to see the captain’s reaction to it all.
“hey, y/n.” in response to his greeting, she grunts. he looks at her sympathetically as he makes himself breakfast, “guess the date didn’t go well?”
“it went horrible!” suddenly, the dots started connecting in everyone’s heads.
natasha recalled yesterday night, everyone wishing y/n luck as she exited the tower - all done up for a date. she’d been gushing about the guy for a few days beforehand, though nat remembered feeling that it was all a bit ingenuine. obviously, her concerns must have been right, she thought, as she emerged from her hiding place, ready to comfort y/n.
“who - what happened, oh, are you okay?” contrary to her cold-hearted demeanor and reputation, was the image of her now, cradling her friend’s head as she tried to console her. y/n grumbles.
“yeah, nat, i’m fine. i am, however, going to need your help with a murder.” nat sighs, pulling her hair up.
“‘lright, what was the bastard’s name? mike? mark?”
“no! what? no, not him. and his name was marty.”
sam audibly winced from behind her.
“you went on a date with a marty?”
“shut up, sam. wait, so if it wasn’t the date why are you upset?” the loud voices from the kitchen must have carried across floors as, before y/n could answer, a voice rung out from behind them.
“what the hell’s going on here?” a very sleep-deprived looking bucky stumbled in, causing y/n to inhale sharply.
“you fucking-” she picked up the first thing that she could grab - a newspaper, unfortunately for her - and launched it in his direction, “whore!” a series of exclamations broke out through the room - poor steve looked like he was gonna have a panic attack at the language used - while bucky deflected the projectile with his metal arm. as y/n rummaged for things to continue hitting him with, and everyone else kept hiding any possible weapons, sam turned to bucky, laughing.
“you had to bust out the metal arm to defend yourself against a - a fucking newspaper!”
“shut up, man-” distracted by conversation, bucky didn’t realize that y/n had advanced on him. she would’ve pounced too, had steve not grabbed her by the waist and held her back.
“barnes, i will - steve, let me go - i will fuck you up, barnes!” she kicked in his grip - rather pathetically.
“okay - no, y/n, calm down, calm down,” with a hand still tentatively holding her back, he tried to calm her down as she slowly relaxed, “would one of you tell me what is going on?”
“why don’t you ask your friend, rogers?”
“yeah, rogers!” tony piped up from behind her, ready to take any opportunity to fuck with steve. the latter rolled his eyes, turning to his best friend.
“alright, then, buck, what’s going on?” bucky shrugged his shoulders.
“nothing, i swear! look, it was just a crazy coincidence - i was on a date at a restaurant, and, lo and behold - she’s there, too!” a shout of indignance from in front of him causes steve to wince.
“oh - you goddamn - that’s absolutely not what happened! i’m trying to go on this fucking date, and then he shows up with the guy’s ex!” the revelation causes gasps to ring out.
“i didn’t know!”
“bullshit!” bucky shrugged again, unsure of how else to defend himself.
“wait, sure that’s awkward, but it’s not the end of the world.” wanda speaks from behind steve, causing y/n to roll her eyes.
“it is if my date ends up leaving with his ex.”
“oh my god.” sam’s pissing himself laughing in the corner, making a mental note to talk to rhodey about whether the compound could get a reality tv-show. y/n finally shrugs out of steve’s grasp and, once again advances on bucky. everyone waits with bated breath to see if her promise held true but, instead, she walked past him.
“i know you did it on purpose, james,” she sighs, “now if you’ll excuse me, i’m gonna go back to bed.”
Tumblr media
the day went on as usual, but her absence weighed on everyone’s minds. she hadn’t come out for a while, and steve just knew she was taking it heavy. although he trusted his best friend, he knew that y/n wasn’t delusional. unable to take it anymore, he finds bucky in his room.
“steve? can i help you?” bucky’s organizing - at least that’s what it looks like - when steve walks in. the latter clears his throat.
“hey, buck. i - look, i gotta ask. did ya know that y/n was gonna be at that restaurant?” bucky’s shoulders slump.
“yeah, yeah i did.” steve looks at him with a half-baked shock, as he’d honestly known what his answer would be.
“alright. and did you know that girl you were taking was his ex?” bucky doesn’t answer, “buck?”
“fuck, yeah - yes. i did.”
“oh my god, buck - that’s terrible! why-”
“look, i did it for her, okay?” steve stops berating him, and bucky sighs, before continuing. “i had friday do a little digging after she mentioned the guy’s name. he’s - well, one look at his social media shows he’s obviously still in love with his ex. i was saving y/n the hassle of finding out a few months from now and being even more upset about it.” steve bit his tongue, a little embarrassed at his misguided outburst. there was a heavy silence.
“buck - you… was that the only reason why?” bucky furrows his eyebrows.
“what do you mean?”
“i mean - well, you have a record of ruining her dates.” steve was right: on many of the sparse dates that y/n had gone out with, bucky would concoct an elaborate plan to stop her from going home with them.
“it’s not my fault she online dates - that fucking ‘kindling’-”
“tinder.” steve interrupts - natasha had tried time and time again to make him set up a profile.
“- yeah, whatever. it’s not my fault she always manages to find the worst guys.” steve ponders for a second.
“oh, come on. it can’t be that bad-”
“she’s been on dates with a racist, 3 cheaters, one guy who’s profile made it seem like he was in the black market organ trade and 2 convicted criminals. 2, steve, i get you fuck up once - but she did it twice!” steve holds his hand up in surrender.
“okay, okay! i get it, alright? i’m sorry for assuming - i’ll leave you be. good night, bucky.”
“yeah, yeah, see you steve.”
bucky knew he only did what he did because he didn’t want to see his friend get hurt. him and y/n were friends, as much as she didn’t like believing it, and he did want to make sure she was alright. well - that and her priceless reactions. he smiled at the memories of the morning, before remembering her sudden departure. he gulped, a guilt slowly creeping up on him. as he started going to bed, he made a mental note of apologizing to her the next morning.
as his head lay on his pillow, he pondered steve’s question. “was that the only reason why”? he reasoned with himself that - of course - it was the only reason he did it. though, as he closed his eyes, a nagging voice, that sounded an awful lot like sam, chided him for being a coward. for using this backward, awkward method to get her attention. it reminded him that he really did hate when she was overtly excited to go on these dates, always wondering what it’d be like if he was the one picking her up and taking her out. he could guarantee that he could make the experience a thousand times better than any of the others could.
it also helped that he wasn’t an criminal. but aren’t you? okay, that was just sam’s voice mocking him in his head. he groaned deeply, reluctantly pushing her out of his mind - as he tried to fall into a fitful sleep.
Tumblr media
although bucky did apologize the next morning, he didn’t explain his reasoning for his actions. he always knew that - should he - their relationship might just be that much different - maybe even better. but he couldn’t. cause you’re a coward. dammit, there was the nag again.
and, thus, the natural order returned to the universe. y/n, for all the bravado of her anger, had become just as amicable as usual - to everyone. sure, bucky pissed her off, but every time he did, he’d also apologize, and they’d go back to a strange pseudo-frienship.
sam always wanted to comment on the nature of this friendship, but never actually did. he’d always be insanely confused, as the two of them could go from being at each others’ throats to very domestically enjoying sitcoms together. and he always thought that surely he couldn’t be the only person to notice the resounding sexual tension between the two of them in those moments. in fact, he was pretty sure it amplified whenever the two argued. and they weren’t subtle either - sam swore bucky would flirt with her any chance he got.
sam was, in fact, not alone in these findings, as the ever-observant natasha carried a similar sentiment whenever she noticed y/n’s lingering gazes towards the same man that nat would have to hear hours of complaints about. nat reasoned that the only way  someone could talk about a person for that long would be if they truly loved or hated them. and while y/n would swear she hated bucky, nat could tell it was actually probably the former.
and that’s probably what led to today: natasha and sam being the only two witnesses to the slow progression of an argument between bucky and y/n. it had been over something stupid - really stupid, actually. an argument about which of their favorite characters from some police sitcom - that nat didn’t care too much for - was better.
“you don’t understand, rosa’s a fucking badass!”
“yeah, but jake’s so much funnier!”
“he’s also a baby!”
“oh my god-”
natasha had, in all honestly, zoned out. at least, until she’d muttered come from sam.
“jesus christ. honestly, just fuck already.” he hadn’t said it loudly - as the last time he’d made the proposition to bucky, he’d had to dodge a punch - but it was loud enough for nat to hear.
“tell me about it, right? it’s honestly vulgar - them just standing here and arguing.” sam chuckled, eyeing y/n as she rolled her eyes at the small, teasing smile on bucky’s face.
“should we, you know - should we help them?” nat stilled for a moment, thoughtfully rapping her fingers across her thigh.
“i mean, i’d love to, but how should we?” sam’s smile grew, knowing exactly what his plan was.
Tumblr media
he waited for that night. it was a rare moment where almost everyone had stayed back at the compound for dinner. although tony made it clear thay all had rooms to enjoy there, many left most weeks to stay back at their own apartments. sam was pretty sure everyone was staying because wanda and clint were cooking, and no one could neglect an offer like that.
as they all settled down, nat and sam both made sure to let bucky and y/n sit together. had y/n noticed the small smile on nat’s face and the reason for it, she would have berated her for resorting such childish, middle school tactics. midway through, nat nodded to sam, figuring this was as good a time as any to proceed with their plan.
“hey, buck, y/n. i forgot to mention, good job on that mission in turkey.” as soon as he saw bucky’s low exhale and y/n roll her eyes, he and nat both knew they’d won.
“god, don’t even remind me.” sam was really struggling to hide his smile at y/n’s disgust.
“what are you talking about, y’all did great!” he was having far too much fun with this.
“well, i did great. and, y’know, she did something.” the gasp of indignance from y/n left steve and tony both placing their heads in their hands. wanda and clint were both wincing, while rhodey and - surprisingly - vision looked mildly amused.
“how dare you - hey, you wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for me.”
“oh, come on, you know i had that guy under control.”
“if you consider him knocking your teeth out as ‘under control’!” before bucky could retort, steve spoke up.
“c’mon you guys, again? it was funny the first few times, but this is getting exhausting.”
“yeah, guys, steve’s right.” natasha spoke with a fake nonchalance that steve was just eating up, “you guys seriously need to learn to stop arguing.”
“how am i supposed to when it’s him!” nat smiled symapathetically at her best friend - so innocent, so naive.
“well - alright, well, let’s say the stakes are higher, then.” y/n, bucky and steve all looked confused at natasha’s statement. tony, however looked intrigued.
“stakes, eh? what’s on your mind, romanoff?”
“simple: a bet.” y/n spluttered at the answer, while bucky laughed.
“a bet? what is this, middle school?” y/n scolded, upon recovering from a cough.
“what, scared you’ll lose?” y/n wanted to now be the one to punch bucky in his perfect teeth. before they could escalate, nat continued.
“no arguments. neither of you is allowed to continue an argument.”
“continue?”
“well, we all do love the one-time, quick-witted, snide remarks. you’ll just not be able to retort - therefore continuing the argument.” y/n gritted her teeth: this sounded like a terrible idea. nat realizes she’s gotta do a bit more convincing.
“c’mon, y/n. there’s gotta be something you want from him.” the entire table looks at y/n expectantly, as she sighs.
“fine, yeah. uh, if i win, you have to stop getting involved in my dates.” bucky shrugs, maintaining his innocence from before without an affirmation of the accusation.
“and barnes?” bucky pretends to think about it, but he knows exactly what he wants. everyone else on the table knows it too. and, honestly, his intermittent flirting with her should have tipped her off, but y/n was still oblivious.
“if i win… you let me take you out.” y/n’s eyes widen.
“you wanna kill me?” the table erupts into laughs at her confusion.
“what? no! i meant on a date - jesus, y/n.” she still looked confused.
“why would you want to take me out?”
“duh, so that i can keep getting involved in your dates. can’t complain when i am the date.” y/n narrowed her eyes at bucky’s joking answer. did she want to go on a date with bucky? well, as much as she’d imagined it, she also knew that the purpose of it, knowing bucky, would be to embarrass her in some way.
“i.. i don’t-” y/n paused, before looking at the encouraging face of nat. sighing, she nodded, “alright, fuck it, sure.” everyone cheered at the affirmation, as they all excitedly thought about the fact that the compound would be that much less negative over the next few days.
Tumblr media
it had lasted over a month. everyone had started frothing for another argument between the two - even steve missed playing the part of a disappointed father at y/n and bucky’s antics. but there were no antics to chastise. to everyone else, the pair had been borderline civil for the entire month.
but bucky and y/n were both just one bad day away from throwing the entirety of their hard work during this stupid bet away.
y/n had one too many cases of a subtle, snide remark from bucky, ones that she was so ready to retort to, but then the judging glance of either nat or sam would pop up, and the insult on her lips would switch to one of endearment.
bucky’d been very shocked the first time she’d said she loved him. sure, he knew she didn’t mean it, but it didn’t stop his heart from stilling for a half-second. he’d sent another of those remarks in her direction - asserting that his favorite movie far surpassed hers - and she made this face, one that told him she was about to tell him how incredibly, stupidly wrong he was. that was when nat had let out an inconspicuous cough, and the beratement had changed:
“i swear to god i-” she glanced at nat, sighing, before turning back to bucky - a pained smile on her face, “i love ya, barnes.” she’d left before she could’ve seen his reaction. lucky for him, as he couldn’t hide it - yet nat was still there to notice it.
but everytime he insulted her, y/n worried about what would happen on this date he wanted to take her on. so she bit her tongue - and even kept her eye-rolling to a minimum.
similarly, as much as y/n had made a career out of poking and prodding at him the past few weeks, bucky also learned to take the hits without any retorts. he thought about actually taking her out on a date that she loved - if not for the sake of the bet, then to see the look of shock on her face when she realized just how well she could really be treated. and everytime he was close to breaking, he remembered why he wanted this so badly.
Tumblr media
the other day, he had heard music coming from the kitchen. it was faint - and he could tell he was really only picking it up because of his enhanced senses. regardless, as he walked closer, he could make out the song - an oh, so, familiar sinatra. in fact, he was pretty sure it was his favorite song.
he was ready to walk in and greet steve, but stopped in his tracks when he realized that it was, instead, y/n, making herself some breakfast. upon noticing him, she popped an earbud out. the sound increased a bit and, upon seeing bucky focus on it, she smiles.
“can you hear it?” bucky, knowing himself to be caught, shrugged.
“yeah, i - i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to-” as he rambled out an apology - the words felt funny coming out of his mouth - he’s interrupted by her tossing the earbud to him.
he takes it, a quizzical look on his face.
“you can listen too - it’s your type of music, right?”
she didn’t say it as an insult, and they both reverted to silence after he popped the ear bud in. she shuffled around the stove, carefully crafting her scrambled eggs, while he tampered with the coffee machine. vision had recently taught him to use it and, regardless of his initial confusion over the ai-turned-robot, he’d graciously accepted the help.
y/n swore that it was steve who got her into older music, but, somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew it was actually bucky. in fact, he’d spent an entire week blaring 40s music whenever he was with her. his initial excuses were that he was too technologically inept to figure out how to use ear buds, but he figured it out pretty quickly after y/n gave him a taste of his own medicine by blaring top 100s and her own playlists. it worked out, somehow, for the both of them - with bucky and y/n both incorporating the others’ tastes into their own.
bucky admired the wholly domestic nature of the scene he was in, before it was interrupted when she had asked for it - her earbud - back, retreating to her room with her breakfast.
Tumblr media
but now, regardless of just how much both of them wanted to win, they were both at their breaking points. the team, seeing all the gritted teeth and forced smiles, knew this was the calm before the storm. and, god, was that storm brewing.
it all culminated on a friday night on the fringe between autumn and winter. the power to y/n’s room had somehow gone out, leaving her without light, heat or friday on a dark, cold, and lonely night. she had found some solace swaddled in blankets on the couch in the living room.
she was on the phone with natasha, who was currently in belarus with steve - and was unwinding for a mission in the morning. as she was bemoaning her situation, bucky entered stage left.
“damn, what’s with the cocoon?” he gestured to the heaps of blankets on her, and y/n tried so hard not to pay any attention, “no, seriously, did christmas come early? do i have to help steve bring in the tree again-?”
“barnes, shut the fuck up or i swear to god i’ll shove a christmas tree up your ass-!” a shocked gasp from natasha cut y/n off, but the damage was already done. she looked at bucky with wide, devastated eyes at her own loss, as he started laughing.
it soon turned into a guffaw, as y/n struggled to escape both her cocoon and her predicament.
“y/n?” nat’s voice rings out from behind them, “how did- you lost the bet?” finally being able to stand up, y/n brandishes her phone in her hand.
“well, that was fun, everyone!” y/n’s sarcasm was off the charts, and she could hear nat calling out for steve in the background, “i’m going into my room and - i don’t know, crying, probably?” bucky was wheezing at her reaction, and she began her trek of shame back to her room.
Tumblr media
a week had passed since the loss, and y/n had gotten her fair share of teasing. it was also found out that others had placed their own bets on who would win. in a shocking turn of events, a true ‘et tu, brutus’ moment, steve had been one of those who had bet against bucky winning.
bucky’d told her to be ready by 4 the following saturday. he’d kept absolutely everything about the venue and activities a secret, leaving y/n to really experiment on the evening of.
after a little wanted advice from nat, and some unwanted advice from sam, she settled on a semi-casual outfit. he was waiting by the compound exit - surprisingly punctual, in an outfit that looked… serious? like he was being serious about everything. y/n narrowed her eyes as she approached him, ready for an impromptu surprise to spring out at her. instead, she was met with bucky smiling warmly, greeting her as he slowly came up to hug her.
it was the first time they’d touched so intimately but, as much as she wanted to sink into it, she knew it was probably a way to lull her into a false sense of security. nevertheless, she reciprocated.
“alright, buck. where’re we going?” her curiosity got the better of her as they parted, having over-thought far too much about where he’d be taking her.
“s’a surprise. you’ll just have to wait and see.” his tone was playful, instead of teasing, “shall we?” bucky held his arm out to her and she, tentatively, took it.
Tumblr media
“i’m not gonna lie to you, though, i think you’re far too well-dressed for the occasion.” she looked down at herself, confused, as her outfit was relatively casual.
“where on earth are you taking me?” before answering, he glanced around, looking at the street names.
“ah, fuck it. we’re nearly there anyways, so…” y/n waited expectantly, “y’know how you’re always gushing to the team about steve’s dog? and how you nearly got distracted in moscow a couple months ago because of a dog?” y/n did absolutely remember, as bucky’d looked ready to smack her upside the head for getting distracted during a mission, “well, nat told me that you were worried you were too busy to get your own. so…” he gestured to a building in front of them, and y/n gasped.
it was a animal rescue shelter, and y/n was ready to faint.
“are we getting a dog - ‘cause you’ve gotta be careful, barnes. that’s like the equivalence of a proposal to me.” bucky smiled, before holding his hands out.
“damn, you got me. y/n, i’ve been meaning to ask you this for a long time coming-” as he spoke he started sinking down, and y/n’s heart dropped. upon seeing her reaction, one of abject horror he laughed, straightening himself back out, “nah, i’m just fucking with you.” y/n let out a sigh of relief, before swatting at his arm.
“god, you’re such an ass!” instead of responding, he points to a sign on the window of the shelter.
“anyways, no - we’re not getting a dog. i found this place a while back, and thought you might like it. they let you interact with any dog for as long as you want - take them on walks, play with them, whatever. it encourages adoptions, and it increases donations too, i think. you said you can’t own one, so i figured this was the next best thing.” when y/n looked at bucky, she found him a bit sheepish. wrongfully so, as this was the best proposition anyone’d ever given her.
“i - i’m in love with this - oh my god.” she was a bit speechless, more giddy than anything, but her sentence left bucky much more relieved.
“really - oh, thank god, i was worried you wouldn’t like it-”
“i love it. so much.” of her own volition, she reached down to squeeze his hand, the feeling of his palm against hers oddly perfect. he smirked, and suppressed a tease when noticing the look of wonder on her face, before they decided to walk in.
Tumblr media
“oh, and the one with the black and brown spots?”
“uno?”
“yes - god, he was so cute!” y/n had been non-stop gushing as they made their way back to the compound. most people were out so, as they walked in, they found themselves alone and reminiscent in the kitchen.
bucky’d poured the both of them a drink, smiling to himself at her adorable ramblings.
“so, i’m assuming you enjoyed it?” when he turned around to hand her glass to her, she hid the width of her smile behind it.
“yeah, it was cool.” her nonchalance was immediately called out by an eyebrow raise from bucky, so she scoffed light-heartedly, “okay, fine. it was definitely one of the best dates i’ve ever been on.” expecting him to have a smug smile on his face, she was surprised to see one of genuine relief. she took a sip, before wiping her lips as she put the glass down, “i do hate you, though.”
“what, why?”
“because now my wish to adopt a dog has grown exponentially,” bucky smiled, thanking god there was no actual problem.
“hey, there’s date number two’s planning done.” they both laughed, before the atmosphere became a it more serious.
“buck?”
“hmm?”
“i - okay, i’m gonna say something, and i’m gonna sound like a bitch, but i’m gonna say it.” bucky nodded, waiting expectantly, “when you first mentioned taking me out as your prize for winning the bet, i thought you were only gonna take me out to… i don’t know, embarrass me?” his mouth hung open at her admittance, and she placed her head in her hands, “god, that’s such a terrible thing to say, i know-” before she can continue, she’s cut off by bucky’s fingers tentatively grazing her chin. she removes her hands to see him, and immediately registers a reclusive sadness in his eyes.
“can i admit something?” she nods, confused as to what he’ll say, “i’ve wanted to take you out on a date for months. i always figured you wouldn’t be interested in it, but realized that this stupid bet would be a way for me to show you how much i do care about you - and just how i think you should be treated. i hate myself for ruining all those dates for you, but i knew that none of them cared about you - or knew how to treat you right.” he took a deep breath, “you should hate me. i’ve bothered you time and time again because i didn’t know how to talk to you properly.” there’s a rather heavy silence, as he retracts from her. she pulls him back, faced with closed, ashamed eyes.
“bucky?” he doesn’t respond, so she continues, “i would like nothing more than to go on a second date with you.” he opens his eyes in shock, and sees a small, playful smile on her face. he mirrors her.
“even after-”
“even after everything, buck. why’d you think i went on the worst dates ever - i never put too much thought into it. everytime i’d get dressed up for some other guy, i’d be distracted thinking about you.” they both laugh, before bucky’s face grows serious again.
“well, we got a lot out of this date, right?”
“tell me about it.”
“it’s also nice to know how you’re gonna react to the proposal,” he contorted his face to mimic and mock the look of horror on her own earlier that evening.
“oh, come on, you know that’s not what i meant.”
bucky smiled at her, a little giddy at the thought of how he’d finally taken the step that made their relationship that much better.

SPOILER REVIEW FOR THE MARVELS
Tumblr media
Just got back from the theater, watched it with @that-coolllama and my mom :D
This is all over the place but I'll try to keep it concise.
Let me start off things by saying I didn't have the biggest expectations from this movie. After watching it definitely exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it!
[ But TL;DR Plot Characters, and Comedy were awesome.  Couple of Scenes could have added stuff and  been a bit better. 8.5/10 ]
Okay actual Review and Spoilers after the cut 👇
Tumblr media
Things I liked!:
-I really liked the scene where Carol and Monica were attracted to the light like moths. That was really cool ,they just couldn't stop themselves from getting closer and touching it, human nature.
Tumblr media
-Goose was so cute in the beginning!  SHE HAD BABIES which was fun. 27 I think. That scene that the kittens were eating all the ppl, hilarious.
Tumblr media
-Kamala's family was a nice touch and were supportive, but didn't get in the way. Which was great :D Their duologue was natural.
-The beginning with Kamala's drawings was so fun!
-THE SINGING PLANET AND THE FACT THAT SHES MARRIED AND HER DRESSS AHHHHHHHH CAPTAIN MARVEL IS A PRINCESS?? is this based off something in the Comics? I need to see that. That world is cool and super creative. The universe is vast! Costume And Dance coordinators  worked real hard you can tell!
-FIGHT SCENES UGH THE FIGHT SCENES. They were really good and well coordinated. I thought it would  be confusing but it wasn't :O. Especially after the training montage 💪
-The 3 Marvel Gals had awesome chemistry! All the dialogue felt so natural between them.
Tumblr media
-Monica's Mom dying during the Blip is heartbreaking. Also seeing the background of the hospital in CHAOS was super interesting. I'm glad it is shown that  the Blip had an effect on  people's lives and not just. "a thing that happened oh well". Kinda reminds me of in Multiverese of Madness that guy tells Dr.Stange that his cat and brother died while he was blipped.
-The Skrull history is so heartbreaking. The Skrull REALLY can't catch a break huh :/ but it does create good world building & is interesting.
-THE END CREDIT SCENE THAT KAMALA IS ASSEMBING A YOUNG ANVENGERS TEAM?! AHHHH !!!!!
Tumblr media
Who this could include off the top of my head-
The ones with stars are the ones who are already in the MCU
⭐ Iron Heart
⭐Shuri Black Panther
✨Miles Morales (context- yt vid explaining prowler in MCU yt vid of Miles in the MCU
⭐ Hulk's Son
Squirrel Girl (okay she's in a commercial with Nick Fury, BUT THAT DONT COUNT 🐿️🐿️🐿️)
⭐ Peter Parker is still pretty young so he's included
⭐ America
⭐ Casey Lang
⭐ That lame girl from Secret Invasion
Moon Girl! And she has history with the Kree so yee
The Girl and Boy Vision (tho I don't think that would work in the MCU but who knows. Wanda is obviously alive and idk Visons could have backups or smth like that)
⭐ AND BRUNO CAN BE THE GUY IN THE CHAIR INVENTING STUFF
-The way the Kree Leader Villain just... disintegrated was crazy. Speaking of her, she was a pretty alright antagonist. I wouldn't go as far as to say that she was a villain since she was doing all this for a pretty good reason. Not that what she was doing was right, but from her perspective I understood where she was coming from.
Tumblr media
Things I didn't like/could have used touch up:
-The Special Effects were actual great and I didn't see any problem with it! except the scene where Monica and Kamala are falling in the sky. Other than that they were good throughout!
-Carol - "I caused a Civil War, the decay of a planet,  and the Skrull their Home"
Monica- " It's okay, we're family"
LIKE GIRL NO IT IS NOT. okay actually I forgot why the AI was bad so maybe it was worth it but still ;-;
-Out of all the sacrifices that one was a bitttt anti climactic. I think maybe the scene just suffered from being too short. Kamala and Carol should have been shown to react more. Still, was a pretty good sacrifice </3
-Definitely could have been longer. my brother mentioned how the ending kinda feels like a much of cut scenes just Frankenstein-ed together. And yeah and does kinda feel that way.
-Some things I would have loved to see-
Like WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT SINGING PLANTET?!!?!??
Another scene of Goose and her kittens would have been nice.
On the singing planet Carol was like " we need new clothes" and the Prince is like "k" and they just show up with new clothes? Like we didn't see them react to it or anything -_-. C'mon Kamala loving her boots would be such an easy comic book callback.
Kamala calling Bruno and Nakia. Like they were not mentioned once! T_T KAMALA YOU CAN'T FORGET WHERE U CAME FROM.
This may be that I haven't seen ALL the MCU stuff but where did the Skull go? If they have a home now are there Skull on Earth. WHY WASN'T ANYTHING FROM SECRET INVASION MENTIONED.
-Anyways-
-That X-Men End Scene. .... uh ... very interesting to say the least. I have not consumed ANY X-Men content but like to have them in a different timeline than the main MCU is a lil lame, but go off. Idk I'd like to hear the thoughts of anyone who has seen X-Men content.
Overall, I think the comedy, characters, & world building all fit perfectly.
A 8.5/10 movie for me. Can't wait to rewatch it!!!!!
:D Thanks for reading! <3

“You’re just annoyed that your personal headcanon isn’t canon!”
Or; my personal thoughts (ranting) about the Loki series and its surrounding toxic discourse.
First of all, I’m going to preface this with the following: whether you loved or hated the Loki series, or you fall somewhere in between, your opinion is valid and if anyone tells you that you can’t express that in a critical manner, then they need to kindly go away. I should also mention the obvious which most people understand — death threats directed at anyone involved in making the series is disgusting and if you do so you’re fucking deluded.
Now that that’s out of the way…
I’m someone who wasn’t overly fond of the series in the end. I went in surprisingly hopeful after enjoying Wandavision and TFATWS. For the most part I really enjoyed the first 3 episodes (episode 3 being the best imo) but I found myself quickly disillusioned by how the narrative seemed to fall apart in terms of cohesiveness. Keeping it short and sweet, I feel like a lot of the relationships (whether platonic or otherwise) were rushed. I found Loki’d dynamic with both Mobius and Sylvie to be confusing, unbelievable, and all around not earned. It feels as though they had a start point and an end point (ie. Loki needs a genuine friend) but we didn’t see any of the journey in between to show how the relationship developed. The quote “after all this time…” in episode 6 sent me over. Like Loki pls you’ve known this woman for max two days or something… No, I’m not salty because he didn’t end up with Mobius. No, I’m not salty because of “selfcest”. I’m salty because I don’t think the relationships were done as well as they could have been. Also, even though no one asked, Loki x therapy is the only ship I give a rats about.
Other points include the following:
Loki felt more like a side character with little impact on the events in his own show.
Sylvie sometimes teeters into Mary-Sue territory, and at times appears to be valued only because she is a woman.
Mobius’ relationship with Loki seems inherently toxic and he is not his therapist. As someone who regularly attends therapy sessions, if your therapist ever talks to you like Mobius talks to Loki — get a new goddamn therapist, Jesus Christ…
In my opinion, the show explores very little of Loki’s character and what makes him tick, especially considering this is post-Avengers 2012 Loki. I’m aware there were only six episodes and I’m not expecting everything to be crammed in, but where Loki was in Thor 1 and the Avengers seems so disconnected from where he is in the series. It seems to portray him as someone hellbent on power and ruling, as opposed to someone desperate for respect and the love of his family/people.
But I digress, the real point of this post was to tell certain people to feck off. Obviously there’s going to be discourse around the series, but I’m starting to get really sick of one side telling the other “you put your personal headcanons on Loki”, “he’s not your character”, “you’re just annoyed because canon didn’t go how you wanted”, “you’re projecting your own abuse on him”, blah blah blah. And here was me thinking the discourse around Ragnarok was bad, but this is another level, lads.
Here’s an idea, how about people who liked the show stop acting like those who didn’t just pulled their opinion on Loki right out of their own ass? All I know is that every opinion I’ve ever formed on him was based on the first three films he appeared in. That’s it — nothing made up because I love to project as someone who went through similar shit to him.
Discuss the show, but don’t be a massive bellend about it.
In summary, Tom Hiddleston I am free next Saturday if you are free next Saturday and I’ll buy all the rounds of Jameson you need while we talk about Loki and how he — no matter what happens to him within the MCU from here on out — will always be one of favourite characters to grace the big screen.
(Anyway who cares what I think, people are just going to call me a whiny Loki apologist regardless.)

Y’all my jaw is still ON THE FLOOR I am so fucking ecstatic that we are getting MATT MURDOCK BACK!!! We’re getting him in She-Hulk, we’re getting him in Echo, but most importantly we’re getting 18 FULL EPISODES OF DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN!!!
Now as soon as I saw that title it had me so stoked because, if you didn’t already know, one of the most iconic Daredevil comics in existence is Frank Miller’s Daredevil: Bon Again. However, season 3 of Daredevil was already (very) loosely based off of this comic which made me confused as to why they would name the new series this as well. But there are so so SO many things that happen in Born Again that never happened in season 3 and so many potential things that they could do in these 18 episodes so I’m going to break down the stuff they might end up including in the show! Let’s get into it:
So in Born Again, Fisk is still very much the main villain which would make sense considering Marvel’s re-introduction of Kingpin in Hawkeye so they clearly need him for a reason. Fisk in this comic is BRUTAL though. He makes Matt’s life a living hell. Matt’s identity gets exposed, Fisk has Matt’s accounts frozen, forces him into homelessness, and frames him for bribing a witness which he doesn’t end up getting arrested for but still gets disbarred. (He also ends up working at a diner— that later then gets blown up but that’s not the point— which I think would be so funny to see in the new series, because Charlie’s Matt is so not the waitor type and so he’d have such a “fuck my life” expression while taking orders— plus the blind waitor jokes would probably be numerous LOL)
Now I know we’ve already seen Fisk vs. Matt and if they were to simply bring that rivalry back I think it might be a bit tired, but I think the idea of Matt Murdock’s identity being exposed would be a really interesting element to play around with in the show because heroes like the Avengers and the majority of the heroes from phases 1-3 were accustomed to their human identities being known and it was the norm, so having it be an adjustment for Matt would be kind of fun. Plus, Peter in NWH met him and Matt represented him so even though he’s technically supposed to have forgotten Peter, maybe Spiderman popping in to help him through the tough bits of being known might help? And it would be the perfect way to have Peter re-introduce himself!! Just saying!! (she says casually, while secretly trying to manifest it in her head with the determination of a thousand suns)
Obviously there are other parts of Born Again I reaaaaally do NOT see them ever adapting, such as the part where Karen flees to New Mexico and gets AIDS from being a solicitor, and Matt’s other girlfriend breaks up with him and then hooks up with Foggy as like a rebound thing which just— no. The Nelson & Murdock we know have a bromance too strong for that shit.
But who knows? There are plenty of things that happen in this comic so there’s a lot of potential, and there are hundreds other comics they can pull inspo from— and that’s not even including what they’ve already set up in the MCU!!! Let me know your thoughts on what you’re hoping to see in the series!

Pick any OC for the "if OC was canon" asks! "What feelings does your character most often instill in their fans?" "If your character had a breakout show/film/comic, what would the plot be? Who would be in their supporting cast?" "What controversies/drama would your character incite in fandom?" and "Are there ship wars? Are they a popular character to ship, or the kind of character that gets shuffled off and away from shipping for whatever reason?"
Gonna answer these with Hestia because I've been thinking about her in a meta way lately! (It has to do with shipping.)
What feelings does your character most often instill in their fans?
Her fans would love her! Like, she's a soft kindhearted woman, what's not to love??? But also she's got a slight hidden trickster side to her, she's got a surprising amount of backbone considering her general demeanor, and she is fully capable of using people's perceptions of her to her advantage. Her fans are gonna want to protect her so bad but also are like "she contains multitudes!!!" she'd be stanned so hard by her fans.
If your character had a breakout show/film/comic, what would the plot be? Who would be in their supporting cast?
OOH I remember my sister once made a netflix original series edit a few years back for a potential Hestia-centered series, and I can see that being it. Kinda like Agent Carter covering the development of SHIELD, this series covers the pre-Thor 1 stuff, the story of Hestia coming to Asgard, marrying Thor, how they learn to live together and fall in love, how Hestia learns to navigate her new kingdom and world. It's like... romance, comedy, drama, political drama, a little bit of action. But honestly probably mostly romance and comedy. Freida Pinto as Hestia, obviously, all the MCU Thor cast as their respective characters. We've also got Hestia's family. My old cast for them was Evan Rachel Wood as Hera, Pedro Pascal as Zeus (this was pre-Mandalorian), and Jason Momoa as Poseidon. (I had faceclaims for others, but I'd change them now, and her whole family makes appearances so I won't get into every single one.) Hestia would also probably have a few handmaidens as a crown princess, but I haven't thought about them at all.
What controversies/drama would your character incite in fandom?
Well she's a queer woman of colour in the MCU fandom. That alone is gonna be controversial. Plus she's married and in a romantic relationship with one of the main mcu guys, Thor, generally seen as the hottest one, so there's that too.
I can see a lot of discourse over her usefulness as a character. Like, Hestia's role once the movie events start going is going to be a lot of background stuff - politics, keeping people organized and keeping the kingdom running. Stuff that is important but, because these are action movies and she's not kicking ass with a sword or something, is gonna get her sidelined. She's also not openly snarky or sarcastic, she's kind even though she can make jokes and be funny, and I think that would also get her mischaracterized as weak or useless. On the flip side, she has a lot of power but chooses not to fight because of trauma, and that would get her called out because "she could have stopped xyz event and didn't".
Are there ship wars? Are they a popular character to ship, or the kind of character that gets shuffled off and away from shipping for whatever reason?
I'd like to believe that Thor and Hestia would be a popular ship, you know, "happily married couple deeply in love" is a popular trope for a reason! We love that shit! And it would be popular because they are obsessed with each other and love each other so much and again, we love that shit! But we live in the real world and the mcu so there would still be some shipping drama. Inevitably there would be people shipping Hestia and Loki. I hate to think about it but it would happen. They're very close and have a special relationship, but it's JUST as siblings/friends. They work as friends and siblings but romantically, nah.
Unfortunately I have to bring up the obvious: because people ship thor and loki, I can see fans pushing Hestia out of the way of that. Either by simply having her and Thor being friends in an arranged marriage rather than coming to love each other, or just cutting her out completely somehow. She'd end up the supportive shipper on deck for them and probably show up in the background in a relationship with like, Sif or Jane or some other female character to make it seem progressive that they're sidelining a leading queer woman of colour for their incest ship. Something similar would happen for any other thor ship I guarantee it.
OC meta ask list!
