Not me giving Felix an absolutely fucking tragic, heartbreaking backstory of being one of the most fierce and notorious fighters in his country’s history [I’m cheesy and thinking of making his origins in/near Sparta]. Aro, after hearing the tales of this great warrior, approaches him with the allure of power. After Felix rejects it, Aro orchestrates the massacre and absolute destruction of Felix’s people. Aro approaches Felix a second time and when he says no again, he bites Felix, knowing he’d run to the mountains nearby to not hurt his people, and while he was turning, Aro mounted a full scale attack so that Felix wouldn’t be able to save his people or his family. He would have nothing to come back to. And that was the true story of how Sparta’s reign ended.

So when Felix gets his thirst under control and he returns home, his entire village is burnt to the ground and the bodies of men, women, and children lay scattered and in pieces everywhere. Days later, Aro returns and acts shocked over the situation and then uses Chelsea’s power to bind Felix to him and uses Corin to force Felix to feel okay to be with the Volturi and to not have any suspicions.

My OC Elise is going to have some gripes with all of the atrocities Aro has committed and I’m excited to see what I’ll have her power to develop to be in order to take Aro and Caius out of the equation. Aro is going to end up hating her because she’s bringing out Felix’s memories and emotions he nearly completely forgot centuries ago and it’s going to make him angry and it’ll be too late for Chelsea to sever any bonds because Elise and Felix will be too romantically bonded by then.

Ah, the struggles of trying to figure out general history of a certain area to give an already existing character a history because the author couldn’t be fucked to give any god damn information about them lmfao thanks Smeyer

The ways in which being asexual feels isolating

I've been pondering whether to post this or not, but I figured out I wanted to explain a bit of this experience.

So, I could go on a very long tangent on how being asexual is usually a lonely experience, and how much I've been otherized here and there- Specially in real life. How the same people that claimed to be queer (or allies) had been much weirder about my asexuality than they were about me being bi/pan or whatever.

But I think I wanna talk about how something like that bleeds in every aspect of socializing, even down to something like fandom. I stay away from fandom usually- I like to look at cool fanart and that's about it. I hate discourse, I hate drama, I hate reading people getting worked up because they're treating fanon as canon. But there's one thing I've noticed, over and over, that just sends me off my rails.

And it's how fandom tends to treat asexuality (or aromanticism). So, you get a character in some piece of media that explicitly, unequivocally, states they're either ace, aro, or both. "I do not have interest in a partner", "I don't desire to have sex nor do I enjoy the topic", whatever. And as an ace person, I do appreciate being able to see myself in media- There isn't many chases where something is established that bluntly.

Now, you decide you want to check some fanart for that. Fandoms have this tendency to make absolutely everything about shipping, even when the media they're basing it in does not revolve about that (and it's annoying, because a lot of times people aren't interested in the actual themes- It's all reduced to shipping). Suddenly, you notice people treating the aforementioned character as anything but aro or ace. It's all about shipping. "This person interacted with this other person in a way two friends would, but we gotta make this their entire personality now". Some people may instead go for "well, maybe the character is not having sex, but they're probably an absolute freak about it, studies it extensively, has encyclopedic knowledge about it-"

Now, there's of course sex-favourable aces, and that's completely valid, but it's already straying from what, canonically, the character had mentioned. Asexual or aromantic characters aren't really allowed to exist as themselves. People often see them as a blank slate to fill, to change, to fix. I could talk forever about how people react to real life aces like that. I've had people asking me incredibly invasive questions because they saw my lack of sexual attraction as something broken, something they could fix.

And I hate that! I think I'm allowed to say that I hate that! It's hard and unusual for media to cement an aro/ace character, because they're defined by the lack of interest for something, which is often hard to show. But when it does- No one seems to care. It's all shipping, it's all "well, he's gay in denial", "well, she's probably super repressed". If you took a canonically gay character and made them straight on a fanfic, you'd get angry people. Which is bound to happen when you erase representation that people identify with. But aro/ace characters are NOT even seen as queer, they're not even seen as "representation" by most people. You can erase that bit of it, put some god awful shipping on top, and people will applaud you. And it sucks!

I wish people would see being aro or ace as an identity worth respecting, not an identity that needs overwriting. It feels a bit too close to how people often treat aro/aces irl, and it sucks. It reeks of this sort of exclusionism, where "aro/aces are technically queer but it's queer lite at best, it's less interesting than being gay, and we kinda don't want them near us anyhow". Again, I've had far worse experiences about being ace than I have about not being straight.

Sorry if the post got long, but I hope this experience may at least resonate with other people who have been struggling with this, too. It has always felt just kind of lonely to be ace, and see how little people do even consider it an identity, even when it comes down to something like fandom.

Piper Mclean set out on a mission to get (Y/N) with someone. And who better than that be but with Valdez?

You see, Leo was flirty. And (Y/N) didn't react to flirts or acts of seduction. Making her nearly impossible for Piper or any of her siblings to charm. But Leo, however, got her to giggle.

The short Latino got the badass child of the earth to giggle with a flirt. Oh. My. Gods.

When Piper saw this, her jaw dropped. She immediately made it her job to get those two together.

She explained the plan to Annabeth and Hazel, Annabeth agreed that they would be compatible. Hazel however was just snickering to herself the entire time. Like she knew something.

It was a foolproof plan! Make them get as close to each other as possible. And then make them talk. Piper was confident in her plan. So she put it too work.

She made the two pair up during any quests, made them sit by each other whenever she could. She also might've on purposely broke one of (Y/N)'s sickles to make her ask Leo for help.

Annabeth and Hazel whispered to each other: “Should we tell her..?”

“No, let her live in her delusions for a second before they tell her.” The Pluto daughter replied. The two girls nodded and watched carefully at the scene of Piper planning out how to get the two together.

“Where could they be?” Piper muttered to herself.

After a quest, (Y/N) and Leo and been missing for an hour or so. The pair had just... Disappeared.

The steps of Piper's boots echoed throughout the halls, an occasional noise from the outside world hummed through the cracks.

Then there was a small thump. Like a thump against a door. Like something accidentally bumped into it.

Piper perked up at the noise. “Hm?” She hummed inquisitively. She slowly walked up to the door, and reached for the handle.

Just before she grabbed the doorknob, she heard a whisper of 'shhh' and 'hold still'. What in Hades name?

The child of Aphrodite was curious no doubt. So she did what anyone would do!

The door flung wide open. Piper's jaw dropped.

The sight was of Leo and (Y/N). Leo's hand holding her thigh up with a strong grip, (Y/N)'s arms loosely wrapped around his neck. His top two buttons undone, and her high waisted jeans resting at her hips.

Leo's face was covered in glossy kiss marks and (Y/N)'s head was tilted back for her neck to be reached better. The two stared back at Piper with wide eyes.

“Hi.” (Y/N) broke the silence.

Piper didn't respond, just stared back at them with bulging eyes and a opened mouth. “...Hi..?”

Leo's expression was the same as (Y/N)'s. Deer caught in headlights eyes and mouth closed tight. He grabbed the doorknob from Piper and shut the door on Piper's face.

The door shut tight and the lock was heard clicking in place.

Piper was flabbergasted. She didn't process it all in the moment, so when she did—her ability to talk finally came back and she gasped.

“Wait, hold on! You've hooking up and none of you told me?!” She said, banging back on the door.

The couple in the closet said perfectly silent and perfectly still. Neither of them threatened to breathe.

Piper gave up trying to get them out of the locked closet and raced over to Annabeth's room.

Annabeth opened the door and Hazel was lying on her bed while Percy was sitting on a beanbag by her desk. “Hey, what's up?”

Piper walked in and closed the door behind her. “Okay, I usually don't gossip around people who aren't apart of the girls—”

Percy shrugged, before grabbing a jacket and placing it on his head. “Pretend I'm a girl.” He said, which made Hazel giggle and Annabeth roll her eyes.

Piper chuckled before speaking again. “Okay, you will NOT believe what I just saw.”

Ok Alastor shippers of all sorts, I'm going to put in my two cents and before I get into I'm a pro shipper all around just don't be mean to each other and tags are there for a reason.

My credentials: I'm an gray ace, aro person who's been around Fandom a very long time. Personally I've been initiated with the “but al is ace aro so you can't ship him” discourse and first off that's not true both because we can date -I Have a long term Partner- and because I've explored a lot of my queer identity through Fandom and fanfics and I think others should get the chance to do the same. I'm sure a lot of people will learn they’re ace aro because of alastor. That being said ik a lot of you writers out there aren't ace aro and are new to the topic so I'm going to go over some of my personal suggestions of how you could make Canon compliant works. (And if you do any or find any please send to me I'd love to see it)

Oblivious Alastor

Canonically this man doesn't know he's an ace in the hole. And I don't believe an egomaniac like him would assume that there's anything “different” about himself. ik when I was a baby ace I thought everyone was just being dramatic basically before realizing I was the exception. I can see this going 2 ways.

Radiostatic (pre show): vox is obviously completely smitten with al and al sees dating a more powerful overlord as an advantage(which vox in the past was the more powerful of the two). And Al starts getting slowly more and more uncomfortable and vox gets pushy in a very manipulative way.

Radioapple: enemies to friends to lovers? After Al and Luci become close friends, Luci starts to catch feelings for Al and Al agrees to date him seeing as he is fond of him and he's a very powerful ally so why wouldn't Al date him? As the relationship progresses they’re both confused by Alastor's behavior. Luci tries to be respectful. You know maybe he's just very against pda. And al doesnt understand why he's not feeling the things he's meant to.

I can see Al reverse heteronormativity- ing his way into assuming he's gay because he's NOT straight.

Malicious intent

Same as the last one except Al knows he doesn't have feelings for them like that and is trying to be toxic and uses them. IE what if Al was a gold digger actually.

Maybe I am in love?

Al actually thinks that he MUST be feeling a romantic connection because this is the closest he's ever been to someone and once again, gets steadily more confused as he realizes what he and his partner are experiencing is different.

All of these can end in nice queer platonic bliss and I think any story where Al and his partner discover he's ace after establishing the relationship is inherently interesting.

Last note some ace vocabulary

Ace and aro are a spectrum. Typically with ace people they will self identify as either sex positive, sex negative, or sex neutral. With Al it's generally head cannoned that he's sex negative but that's not explicitly Cannon and sex positive and neutral aces are valid.

Sex negative: is self explanatory it's what everyone thinks aces are; I don't want sex ever the idea grosses me out ect.

Sex neutral: is when someone doesn't have the desire for sex but isn't repulsed by it either. If they are in a relationship and their partner wants to have sex they’re open to it but don't expect initiation on their part.

Sex positive: people have a hard time understanding this because it's the seperating of the need for sex from the want. Typically if a sex positive ace were to never have sex again they'd die happy but if they have a willing partner they are happy to participate. It builds intimacy. It feels good, it's nice but it's not the same as being allo and having that cardinal lust.

note: please know what type your head cannoning Al as in your works when writing it, although people of course can change which they feel they align with, it's important to know how he's feeling about it.

I'm not as familiar with aro terminology but like with ace it's more about the drive the need the anguish. Al wouldn’t in cannon crave romantic connection.

Like with ace it's not actually cannon what type of aro he is some aro people are completely repulsed by the idea of romantic relationships or they only like it in theory (which playing around with the idea of Al liking a relationship in theory but not in practice could be a lot of fun.)

The gray romantic umbrella are aro people who can have romantic attraction to some degree. They’re still aro you can head cannon Al as it but please do a little research into which one you think your version of Al would identify with there quite a few so I'll spare the list here.

Demi romantic is when someone can develop romantic attraction for very specific people, very rarely. These people won't be on Bumble but might fall for someone after knowing them for a few years (or an indeterminate amount of time, my timeline was a year and a half I shit you not) a lot of you are looking for that.

As for kink. Lots of queer people especially are into kink because it's intimate, it's physical, it requires trust but it's not actually inherently sexual a lot of the time. And we do know that Al likes torturing and being dominant so yeah he'd be kinky that's completely canon compliant.

At the end of the day Al is ace aro in the show and that's what counts. Have fun be creative, explore the depths of your queer little minds and please be nice to each other.

List of aromantic spectrum identities/microlabels! ↗

Aegoromantic - being aromantic but still liking romantic things in a way that doesn't involve yourself. (movies, fanfic, etc)

Uniromantic - only experiencing romantic attraction to one person, and none for anyone else.

Cupioromantic - being aromantic but still wanting a romantic relationship.

Aroflux - fluctuating between different orientations on the arospec.

Myrromantic - being multiple labels on the arospec.

Apresromantic - only feeling romantic attraction after feeling another form of attraction. (platonic, sensual, aesthetic, etc)

Platoniromantic - not experiencing/feeling a difference between romantic and platonic attraction.

Idemromantic - differentiating platonic, romantic attraction, and relationships but feeling no significant difference between them.

Ceaseromantic - having your romantic attraction occasionally stop completely for a period of time.

Duraromantic - rarely feeling attraction, but when you do, it lasts for a long time.

Limnoromantic - only having your attraction piqued by depictions of it, but not of them in real life. (fanfic, writing, etc)

Aliquaromantic - not feeling attraction unless under specific circumstances.

Duoromantic - having two or more defined arospec orientations you switch between.

Acoromantic - being arospec because of past negative experiences.

Polarromantic - swapping between extreme attraction and none at all.

Schroromantic - being romantic and aromantic at the same time, or a mix of the two. (name coming from schrodingers cat)

Borearomantic - when your attraction seems to revolve around one person in particular.

Burstromantic - feeling attraction in sudden bursts which then fades away or leaves immediately.

Preromantic - feeling that you haven't had enough attraction to determine your orientation.

Quoiromantic - feeling your attraction doesn't exactly align with allos or anywhere on the arospec, not identifying with any labels, or feeling that you don't want to label your attraction as doing so wouldn't make sense. (multiple definitions)

Arospike - usually not experiencing attraction but sometimes having rapid and intense attraction which then plummets again.

Propeestromantic - having at least more than two labels on the arospec that feel mixed and all describe your identity.

Nebularomantic - having trouble distinguishing romantic attraction from platonic attraction due to neurodivergancy.

Recipromantic - only feeling attraction for someone after knowing they experience that attraction to you.

Requeroromantic - feeling limited or no romantic attraction due to trauma or emotional exhaustion.

Thymromantic - feeling attraction that varies depending on your emotional state.

Noviroromamtic - feeling your complicated romantic attraction cannot be contained by a single term.

Metaroromantic - experiencing attraction that cannot be defined by the strict terms of romantic and platonic.

Placioromantic - having no desire for romantic acts to be done for you, but feeling interest or desire in doing them for someone else.

Hyperaromantic - having more romantic desires than allos while still being on the arospec. (different from hyperromantic, a non arospec identity caused by trauma)

Apathromantic - someone who may or may not have romantic attraction, but feels indifferent to receiving it or acting on it.

Caedromantic - having once had romantic attraction, but feeling like it was lost or "cut away" somehow due to trauma.

Demiromantic - only experiencing romantic attraction after forming an emotional bond with someone first.

Grayromantic - rarely having romantic attraction, feeling it weakly, or having it unreliably come and go. (multiple definitions)

As you know by now, I absolutely love your headcanons, especially about the Vees, so I was curious to know that you think their love life might have been like on earth. Vox, I could imagine being married and having kids for appearance sake, but hating it. Val, I could see getting married once when he's still young, but overall being more of a fuckboy with plenty of illegitimate children. And Velvette, I'm not really sure. What are your thoughts on the Vees here?

So let's start with Vox. You've read my fanfic so you know about his wife. Her name was Vivienne and he was crazily in love with her. Well, at the beginning at least. Honestly, he was in love with the idea of her and how perfect they could have been. He proposed to her quickly and she was essentially pressed into the marriage by her parents, because who would deny a famous multimillionaire? But she fucking despised him and used every opportunity to remind him about that. Vox so desperately wanted her to follow his fantasy he grew to be abusive, constantly struggling between love for the imagined version of her and hatred towards her true self. They've never had a children though because she didn't want to be mother of his children and he didn't want to share her attention with anyone. You know how it turned out for them.

Valentino has never gotten married because he's not a monogamous type. His idea of love is an obsessive passion so in his mind he loved many people. None of his significant ones could bare him for longer than few months. Plus his way of living didn't support building stable realtionships. Any person he loved met a morbid end - killed in a fight between cartels, committed suicide to escape abuse, died of drug overdose or murdered by him. He thinks of himself as a tragic romantic hero, never destined to get his happily ever after because of course he doesn't recognize that he was the problem all along. Also I totally agree he has a bunch of illegitimate children and wouldn't be able to recall a single of their mothers' names. Actually I kinda like the idea that he has a daughter somewhere in hell that is currently plotting how to kill him for being a fucking garbage of a man.

Velvette I headcanon as aromantic and having a severe intimacy issues (disclaimer: those two things are not by any means connected, aromanticism doesn't equal any kind of issue and aro people can built deep and fulfilling raltionships; Velvette is just evil and self centred, that's the problem). So she has never had a love life per se but during her living days as a influencer she dated some fuckboy that looked good on her Instagram and helped her with building brand. Her followers were obsessed with their unhinged not-like-other-couples content, similarly that people used to be obsessed with Harley and Joker in 2010s. But of course Velvette was the big daddy in this relationship, he was just an arm candy, some dumb rich Jared recording emo tracks funded by his parent's money.

One commenter is mad at me because I had "clearly ace-coded" a character and then "chickened out" by "reversing" his sexuality. After a lifetime of abuse at home, he knew he didn't want to be pushy with his love interest, but developed a people-pleaser complex, where he would go along with whatever the other person wanted automatically. So when asked if he actually wanted to have sex, he stared at them and had a moment of "...if she wants to? I want what she wants" because he's 16 and he's Bad At Feelings.

Apparently this was clearly me saying he's ace and my having him turn out to be fine with the idea of sex when he's older is ace erasure. And I should feel bad, because I wrote something and then took it back, which is cruel to do to the aces in the audience, because ace rep that's not aro but still ace is so rare and this makes my only ace character in the story aroace (and not looking for a relationship and not having sex), which is "a hurtful stereotype and a child's understanding of what aroace is". Apparently I was "acebaiting".

And I have just had my inbox open and been staring at this in confusion for an hour because... sometimes teenagers are bad at knowing if they want something. He was never coded in any direction other confused teenager coded. Also, where is this person from that there's a ton of aroace representation? Actual canon aroace characters are super rare, as evidenced by the fact there are none in canon for the show I'm writing for.

Also, why does he have to be representation of anything? I'm a fanfic writer, I'm not leading a Pride parade. Sometimes a teenage boy side character represents nothing because this is a story, not a bold political statement. Not every character needs to represent something. But also, uncertainty about sex because your entire life has been spent doing what other people want automatically in an attempt to appease others and being asked what you want is weird? That's an experience people have. Why is that not worth representing unless it turns out a Pride flag is involved later?

I'm not anti-headcanons. Headcanon him away as ace or demi or whatever pleases you most. But your headcanons are not the author's responsibility to live up to and the author isn't being offensive when they fail to live up to it.

Some audience members are hilariously entitled. They don't need to be handled with kid gloves.

Greetings all!

Just want to start by informing that I am AroAce, on the repulsed side of things with no drive at all, and I'd think that Alastor is quite the same (or I guess that is more my head cannon of things). So, I'm quite curious if there are any fanfics that explores that?

Or more specifically, if there are any that really go into how uncomfortable he'd be when it comes to things regarding romance and intimacy. Like, is there any writing in which Alastor is asked to hold hands and all he wants to do in response is to stab his hand with a pair of scissors? Or one in which he's offered a kiss and just wants to peel the top layer of his tongue of?

We all haven't forgotten he's a murderer, right?

So, wouldn't it be interesting if his visceral reactions were quite gruesome? He might not act on them, for he is a gentleman after all, but that doesn't change fact that they exist.

Just imagen, one thinks of flowers and sunsets, while the other thinks of blood and broken bones. I think it would be a really fun read.

Like ideas for things that could happen are endless! Just imagen someone asking for his hand and that's all he gives them. He just cuts of his hand and hands it over to them.

"Here you go my dear, though I can hardly see what use you'd have for it."

Which I feel could be a part of why he likes cannibal town. For if they ask for his hand and he gives it, they actually appreciate the gesture. All others just seem to throw it to the side in horror. He does find joy in that reaction too, but it's nice when people actually mean what they say.

There is also the idea that Rosie might have, in the beginning, tried to gauge if he had any interest in her. Just a way to figure out his possible motives. Which would then be the reason for how she can be so sure that he's (Aro)Ace.

One fun thing might also be that she sees his tail and comments on how adorable it is, and him being him, just rips it off.

"Well, that makes one of us." He says giving it to her. "So, you can have it my dear."

The best part would then be that she'd invite him for dinner and have it as a centrepiece, making a great meal with the theme of adorable.

"Isn’t this adorable?" She'd ask with a smile.

"You've quite outdone yourself, my dear Rosie." He'd say with a sigh, putting his cutlery down. "Yes, it's very adorable." To which she would be quite delighted, and he'd just smile at her reaction, she's a good friend.

And if he does have a drive, what if he dislikes it?

Like in his mind he has rules that should be followed and if his body decides to break those rules, then there will be consequences. One might be to bite the arm, creating a sensation that is far more prominent, a distraction of sort.

Then if the arm 'accidentally' comes of, the only logical choice is to use it for dinner. (Though it could also be eaten as is, I'd guess)

All this to ask, Does anyone know a story of that sort?

Honestly, it doesn't even have to be from Hazbin.

If there exists a repulsed AroAce character whose response to any advances are thoughts of the gruesome kind, then I’d be really delighted to read that ᵔᵜᵔ

I just feel that it falls very nicely into Alastor’s character to have that sort of response, (while still remaining composed, of course).

Hey fellow aromantic fanfic writers? You know that fic you really want to write where you make that one character aro, but you think no one will want to read it? Write it.

I had one of those. I was very convinced that absolutely no one would want to see me taking the fandom's OTP and saying "yeah, they fucked... but they've got absolutely no romantic interest in each other. None. In fact one of them is going to explain that to the other and the other is going to say 'oh you sound aro.' It is going to be a whole fic about how much the two people you all want to be a couple do not want that."

I went back to reread it and it has 45 kudos. Twice as many as anything I've ever written. Half of a hundred. It's got ~350 hits, which means 1 in 7 people kudos-ed it.

And yeah, you shouldn't write for other people and just to get kudos, but also... I genuinely thought no one would like it. I was telling my friend that the whole time I was writing. But it's the most successful fic I've written.

So whatever aro headcanon you think your fandom will eat you alive for? Give it a shot. You might be surprised. I sure was.

Loveless

I'm late on this because the book was published in 2020, but I only heard about it in the last month when I was reading an article about asexuality in fiction but in case anyone is out of the loop like me let me tell you about this glory

Loveless is a YA novel by Alice Oseman, author of Heartstopper and Solitaire. It tells the story of Georgia Warr, freshman at Durham University, and her realization that while she's in love with the idea of romance, the actuality of a romantic/sexual relationship repulses her.

Alice Oseman herself is aroace, which makes perfect sense because throughout the novel I kept asking myself, "How does she know? How does she know?! How did she get these thoughts out of my head?"

for my fellow ace and/or aro people, let me quote some of the lines that just got me straight in the soul:

"I had a theory that a lot of people's "celebrity crushes" were just faked to fit in."

"I was disgusted by the thought of him near me. Wanting things from me. That wasn't normal, was it?"

"Oh, God, this thing is actually real, it's not just in fanfics and movies. And I'm supposed to be doing it too."

"Did I even know what romantic feelings felt like?"

"He was clearly the sort of person who I should like romantically. Who I could like romantically. He looked like a boyfriend. I loved his personality. I'd loved his personality for years. So I could fall in love with him. With a little bit of effort. Definitely."

"I thought I'd understood what all these romantic things would feel like--butterflies and the spark and just knowing when you liked someone. I'd read about these feelings hundreds of times in books and fanfic. I'd watched way more romcoms than was probably normal for an eighteen-year-old. But now I was starting to wonder whether these things were just made up."

"Straight people don't think shit like that."

"Just because I'd never liked anyone didn't mean I never would. Did it?"

"I thought all the movies were exaggerating, but you're all really out there just craving genitals and embarrassment. This has to be some kind of huge joke."

"I felt like I was grieving. I was grieving this fake life, a fantasy future that I was never going to live."

"How was it fair that everyone got to feel that except me?"

"I never had any crushes when I was a child. Not any real ones, anyway. Sometimes I confused friendships for them, or just thinking a guy was really cool."

"For a long time, I was just dating and having sex because that's what people did. And I wanted to feel like those people."

"You've been so confused about stuff. You really thought we could be together, because you do love me. Not in a romantic way, but just as strongly."

"Oh. This is an asexual thing. I forgot other people are obsessed with having sex."

seriously the entire time I spent with this book I just kept asking "was this written for me specifically?" because that's exactly how it felt.

It is a gorgeous book that explores that bizarre feeling of not knowing the word for what you are, not even knowing that you are something out of the ordinary because we don't define ourselves by what we lack and we just expect that one day, it'll happen and we'll be like everyone else. That struggle of trying to differentiate between loving someone and being in love with them, and trying to make the former into the latter and hurting everything in the process.

It is so good. 10/10, no complaints

also there's an asshole in the university's queer pride group who doesn't think aces belong and everyone hates him so that's fantastic, aphobes fuck off

in conclusion I highly recommend it

A/N: I let my creative juices 😉 flow for this one. Thanks a lot for this wonderful request. I hope you enjoy it, dear Anonymous. Still, I want to emphasize that I do not write sexual content about characters who are underage. I received a few requests for stuff like that, and I must say that I do not feel comfortable with writing those fics.

“That was a rather tedious trial,” Demetri remarked, carrying himself elegantly through the halls of the Volturi’s castle and putting any décor to shame. He was the most ornate décor to have ever existed anyway. The halls and rooms were lucky to have him. He was a statue created by Michelangelo.

“Indeed,” Felix replied, treading softly on the stone floor. Despite his gigantic size, he appeared to be levitating.

“I cannot quite fathom why Aro prolonged the trial unnecessarily.” Demetri turned right, heading toward the library.

“He was in a particularly bad mood today,” Felix explained monotonously. “You know how he can be. It has happened before. He really wanted to see that poor excuse of a vampire suffer.”

Demetri shrugged nonchalantly. “It shall not concern me.” As he and Felix entered the library, he added, “At least Jane and Alec got their fun out of it.”

“Exactly.” Felix's eyes scanned the bookshelves and sitting areas worriedly for your form. You had promised you would be here to await him after the end of the trial. But you were nowhere in sight. “The twins are satisfied for now, and they are unlikely to cause mayhem. Although that is never a guarantee.”

Feeling a heavy weight on his chest, Felix stopped in his track. Standing in the middle of the library, he crossed his arms and used his sensitive ears to locate you. However, neither your heartbeat nor the even sound of your breath seemed to be dwelling in the castle. That was bad. Panic seized him. The world of vampires was wicked and cruel. Had a newborn taken you? Or worse, had one of his ancient enemies broken inside the castle and humannapped you? For vampires, the worst possible punishment was to lose a mate.

A mate for a mate.

Keeping his composure, Felix looked at Demetri, who had sat down at a chess board opposite Heidi. They were flirting ferociously, and although they had been doing this for centuries, they always found new hollow phrases and sweet compliments to charm each other. Their friendship was real, but everyone knew where the two of them would end up. It was the reason why some wished for soundproof rooms. However, the Kings were against such an installment because to run the coven smoothly, their senses needed to have access everywhere at any given time. Traitors, raging newborns, enemies… None of them could have the opportunity to hurt the Volturi’s integrity.

“So, if I win, how about the whole night this time?” Demetri organized the chess pieces.

“First, honey, you have to win. Last time I beat you. And how about you start to become more creative. We have done that so many times already.” Heidi giggled sensually. Her flirting was always of the dominant kind. She never behaved submissively. Tilting her head to expose her neck was something she would never do. You had to accept her as the strong woman she was.

“Hey, Demetri,” Felix called out. “Do you know where (Y/N) is?”

The vampire shrugged. Clearly, he was uninterested. “I don’t know. If she is not here, she is somewhere else.” A cloud fell over the tracker’s face. “It is a pity that I cannot sense her tenor. But her immunity to gifts is the reason why Aro allowed you to keep her in the first place.”

A deep growl rumbled through Felix's chest. Demetri ignored his obvious anger, and the giant walked out of the room, seething. He hated the way Demetri and the others talked about you. Like you were a pet only kept for his amusement. Admittedly, vampires mainly see humans as food, and thus, it is most difficult to establish respectful relationships between humans and vampires. Still, Felix would not allow the others to look down on you. At least not in your presence. He ignored slighting remarks when you were not in the same room, knowing that those would be uttered behind his back anyway.

Anxiously, Felix hurried out of the castle. It was a cloudy day, and the sun was already setting. He didn’t need his cloak. After wandering around for a while and searching for your familiar heartbeat, he found you sitting on a low wall, overlooking the fields and trees expanding in the distance.

Relieved, Felix sighed. He felt like he was reborn into a human, only to be turned into a vampire again. He was so glad to see you were alright. He came to stand behind you and embraced you lovingly. Unperturbed, you continued to hum softly, dangling your legs in the air.

“I thought you wanted to meet in the library,” Felix whispered against the shell of your ear. He had to lean down to accomplish this feat of affection since you were shorter than him. Your head, although you were sitting on a raised wall, did not even reach his chin.

“I thought so, too. I had been in the library. But Chelsea and Renata came in, and they were not so kind.”

“What did they do? Did they say something hurtful?” Felix placed soft kisses on your head.

You shook your head. “That is between me and them. I won’t tell you. Also, as I have mentioned before, I can solve my own conflicts. If I want the others to respect me, I cannot let you fight my battles for me. Otherwise, they will not take me seriously.”

Oh, strong, cute you…

Felix picked you up bridal-style, turned you around, and sat you back down. Now you were facing him. His big hands caressed your shoulders. “I know. You have told me that a lot. More than you should have to.” He was obnoxiously protective of you. So much so that at the beginning of your life in Volterra, he tried to shelter you from the others, seeking out confrontations to solve your arguments. For him, this was not about protecting your pride or dignity or anything. Just that he could not allow others to pick a fight with you. However, it quickly turned out that you were the real menace. You did not back down from any conflicts, and if you were facing heavy provocations, you would unleash witty remarks of your own.

“By the way,” Felix began, “I love that you are not frightened anymore when I approach you.”

You laughed amusedly. “Right, if you had hugged me from behind two months ago, I would have jumped.” A cheeky grin was plastered on your face. You got up, standing on the wall. Felix grabbed you by your hips to stabilize you. Emotionally and physically, he gave you equanimity and equilibrium. “Look. I am taller than you are now.”

“Barely. I am not sure that counts.”

“Yes, it does. Even if it’s only a centimeter, Felix.” You rolled your eyes playfully. Then, your gaze became serious. “I was really afraid of you until we reached a certain level of trust. Now, it is like I can almost feel when you are around. I do not need to see you to have that feeling. A special kind of security shrouds my body and mind when you are near. Just now, as I was humming to myself, I felt that you were close and searching for me.”

Hmm… Was that an early manifestation of your gift? “You are wonderful. Do you know that?” Felix pulled you in by your waist.

“Of course, I do. You tell me every day.” With a big smile on your face, it was you this time who leant down to kiss him.

Shadowing someone who's never met or formally interacted with you may be considered a.. very unconventional activity, to say the least, but Yamato couldn't think of a better way to use his spare time as of late.

He paid close attention to your mannerisms, watching like a hawk as you fidgeted and bounced in place, periodically checking your phone.

What for? Were you waiting for something?

He didn't dwell on the thought for too long, opting to continue observing as you absentmindedly entertained yourself from where you stood.

Everything seemed perfectly fine to him.

Yamato turned away from you, just for a moment, and extracted his phone from his pocket, intending to check how much time he had left.

Glancing back to you briefly, he-

Wait.

His eyes narrow, body going rigid.

Despite being a ways away, he watched closely as you greeted a briskly approaching someone that he'd never seen before.

His grip on his phone tightened.

Who are they?

You embraced them briefly before conversing, quite expressively at that, with them.

Who is that?

Something apprehensive and wary bubbled up inside of him once the individual laid a hand on your shoulder and leaned in to say something to you.

Did you meet them recently?

They have to be new, or else he would know who they were.

What do they want from-

A raucous chortle suddenly fell from your lips before you stifled your apparent glee by placing your hand over you mouth.

Yamato heavily exhaled, his form visibly relaxing.

They must've told you a joke.

They're friendly.

It's nothing to worry about.

From where it rests in his hand, Yamato's phone vibrates.

He looks down at the device and sees a calendar alert displayed on it's screen.

He has to host an assembly meeting soon.

He sighs and moves to leave, making a mental note to run a background check on the individual talking with you later as he glanced over one more time before exiting the building.

He'll have to make his introduction to you soon.

It's best not to have any troublesome new acquaintances of yours complicating things for him.

-.'🪬'.- Once he uses the information he's gathered to approach and reel you in, he's practically always with you in his downtime (he still has to lead the Twilight Order).

-.'🪬'.- From where he stands beside you as a relatively close friend, he can micromanage your relationships more effectively, picking and choosing who is and isn't good for you to be talking to.

-.'🪬'.- Even the friendly-looking ones cant escape his scrutinizing gaze.

-.'🪬'.- If any people that he's deemed unwelcome slip through the cracks and manage to make it to the conversation stage with you, Yamato's standing right behind you and giving that person a death stare.

-.'🪬'.- If you catch on and ask him about it, he'll look away, an artificial replica of a sheepish expression forming on his face as he explains that he's had a few bad experiences in his own life that have left him wary of everyone around him and he just wanted to make sure that you were safe.

-.'🪬'.- As you express your remorse for making him revisit such awful memories and thank him for his help, he simply smiles and assures you that it's fine.

-.'🪬'.- You trust far too easily.

-.'🪬'.- His smile wanes, just for a moment.

-.'🪬'.- While he was absolutely ecstatic that you welcomed him into your life and home with open arms and let him bear witness to all of the little things that make you who you are, he couldn't help but listen to the little inkling in the back of his mind that told him that you would've let anyone in under the same pretenses.

-.'🪬'.- Taking note of his currently strained relationship with his own sister, he'll tread carefully, not wanting to make the same mistakes as last time.

-.'🪬'.- Naturally, you became apprehensive when Yamato told you that he decided that your safety was worth more than your autonomy, but it was nothing that the music box couldn’t quell.

-.'🪬'.- He’d take your docile body by the hand and lead you to the Twilight Order’s base, where you’d be quartered and prohibited from leaving the premises from then on.

-.'🪬'.- No amount of pleading or tears will dissuade him from his decision to keep you with him.

-.'🪬'.- If his own sister’s screams of anguish couldn’t change his mind, you have no chance of convincing him.

-.'🪬'.- He understands that you're most likely going to despise him for what he's done to you, so he's slow and methodical in his attempts to regain your affections and normalize your new life.

-.'🪬'.- His main goal is to condition you psychologically by slowly changing your interpretation of what's happening to you whilst also using your self-preservation instincts against you.

-.'🪬'.- You have more privileges and freedoms, and even Yamato himself will be nothing but cordial to you as long as you remain compliant.

-.'🪬'.- But, if you act particularly unruly, he’ll use the music box to control you, essentially trapping you in your own body and turning you into a glorified dress-up doll.

-.'🪬'.- It seems cruel, yes, but he's only doing it so you'll stop hurtling insults at him.

-.'🪬'.- He's been nothing but kind to you when you treat him with basic politeness, so why hurt both of you like this?

-.'🪬'.- Just stay agreeable. Things will be easier for both of of you.

-.'🪬'.- He hopes that, over a period of time, you'll grow to love him again. Just like you did before.

-.'🪬'.- Eventually, he’ll give you just enough leeway to roam the building (with limited surveillance).

-.'🪬'.- Don’t even try to ask anyone for help. They’ll report it to Yamato so fast, it’ll give you whiplash.

-.'🪬'.- As long as he doesn’t hear anything suspicious from those watching over you, he might even let you take walks outside, with either him or one of most trusted associates, if you’re feeling restless when he’s unavailable.

-.'🪬'.- Now, if you're playing the long game and putting up a lovey-dovey front so you can gain just enough breathing room to make your getaway, you better hightail it once you step foot out of the Twilight Order's base.

-.'🪬'.- The moment Yamato receives the news that his sweet, adoring significant other left him in the dust, the second he realizes that every single smile, laugh, and whisper that ever graced his senses were products of treacherous deceit, he’s livid and frantic and having an ugly, visceral meltdown.

-.'🪬'.- He’s outraged at what you’ve done, but also hysterical at what could happen to you. Especially since you’re out of his sight.

-.'🪬'.- You could get horribly lost, cross paths with a Miramon, or you might misplace your trust and lose your life to an individual with nefarious intent.

-.'🪬'.- Fueled by some twisted, churning mixture of distress and fury, he’d send as many people as he could spare to hunt you down and bring you back, he himself joining the hunt.

-.'🪬'.- You would be lucky if you were caught and dragged back to base by one of his subordinates.

-.'🪬'.- If he finds you in the state that he’s currently in, he might just forget that you’re not as durable as he is, since you’re not an esper.

-.'🪬'.- All he’s really focused on is getting your hands off of your ears and your mind under the music box’s control so you can stop fighting him.

-.'🪬'.- He’s only trying to protect you. You'll understand eventually.
