Warnings: Not proofread, fluff
Concept: You help your best friend (who you're in love with) get out of a small internet rumour.
Wordcount: 638
Tumblr media
Flo’s phone buzzed, and a text from y/n popped up. Florence’s eyes are wide, and her heart skips a beat as she reads your text in her head, “so, what’s this I hear about us dating?”
Her fingers are frozen, not quite sure what to type or how to explain what happened earlier tonight.
“I swear, it was just to shut down the rumours of Zach and I getting back together.” Flo types.
“Mhm…sure ;)”
Flirting was definitely not your thing but over text, you seemed to have a bit of a knack for it and you were for sure messing with Florence. The two of you starred in a movie together recently and after playing love interests the internet was pretty much obsessed with the two of you dating. You had major feelings for Florence when you first started filming but of course, she was dating Zach at the time. The two of you got really close and developed an amazing friendship, you were there for each other, especially when she and Zach parted ways and since then your relationship has only grown closer.
“Don’t worry y/n, I’ll make a post tomorrow saying I was just joking about it. Sorry to put you in this spot, I was just so sick of seeing all of the posts about Zach.”
Florence’s phone bings.
*Y/n tagged you in a post.*
Tumblr media
Oh god.
“Oh boy, what did you do…” Florence asks.
“You didn’t want to see any more posts about Zach…well…now I think it’s safe to say you definitely won’t be anymore.”
Florence’s heart filled with warmth and she was overrun with joy because of how amazing of a friend you are. Oh, how she wished this was real though.
“You really are the best y/n…you know that?”
“Oh, I know aha”
Florence was blushing on the other end of the phone as she continued to look at your Instagram post.
“You’re my favourite person <3” she wrote in the comment section.
As her phone was flooding with thousands of responses to her comment she got another message from you.
“I’m your favourite person eh?”
“Of course you are!”
A smile came across your face as you read her text message. Playing “fake girlfriend” with Flo has somehow managed to bring some of your past feelings back as you started to think of all the dates you’d take her on, how you’d hold her, all the presents you’d buy her…
You weren’t sure if it was because it was late at night or because you maybe had one glass too many of wine but you decided to send a follow-up text…
“Hey Flo, could I ask you something sort of crazy…?”
“Of course love, what’s up?”
“I know we are just playing around right now in a jokingly way but I’d be kicking myself tomorrow morning if I didn’t tell you now that I think I have feelings for you. So…I guess I was wondering if maybe you’d go on a date with me this week? I totally understand if it’s a no…I get that we are friends and all I just wanted to ask.”
The nerves were building as she didn’t respond for a few minutes. Suddenly you saw the three dots appear as she typed and then they disappeared. This happened several times. You totally 100% embarrassed yourself with this one, never again. After what felt like an eternity of waiting your phone dings.
“I’d love to.”
Huge waves of relief and disbelief pour over you as you read the text.
Your heart felt happy. You couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the night and every time Florence crossed your mind you got to welcome the thoughts with open arms and excitement.
I guess sometimes being in love with your best friend works out.

Hi i have a request i was wondering if you could do a oneshot of levi x reader where the reader was in a relationship with reiner before finding out he was the armored titan and after they find out the reader is so heartbroken and distraught that they start to isolate, harm themselves and not eat as much but levi would always try and help them feel better by talking with them and being with them & slowly they both start to fall for each other and he helps them get better
C/n: ah my two men. Love it. Thanks for requesting and I hope that you enjoy🤍
——————————————————————————
Time Heals. (Reiner x Reader; Levi x Reader)
Love didn’t exist in the Survey Corps. At least that’s what you thought. There was no time for those type of things when your lover could be snatched away by the hands of a Titan at any time. But then you met Reiner Braun. The boy who showed you how to love and how to live life. He was so charming and so handsome, it didn’t take long for you to fall in love.
You felt like you belonged together. After the titans would disappear, you wanted to marry Reiner and to build a family with him. Everybody loved the two of you together, except his two closest friends for some reason.
But it didn’t bother you. As much as you wanted to befriend Annie and Bertholdt, they always ignored you. So you respected their decision and left them alone.
When Annie revealed herself as the Female titan, everyone was shocked. Rightfully so. Reiner faked sadness and you held him in your arms as you tried to calm him down. You thought it was a big betrayal to him and all you wanted to do was be there for him.
~~~~
“You’re just tired. That’s it, right?” You heard Eren speak to Reiner and Bertholdt as everyone began their journey back home. You stood with Armin and Mikasa when you saw Reiner unravel his bandage and the steam emitted from him. “What the..?” You mumble and as you began to walk to him, Mikasa sliced Bertholdt’s throat and got Reiner.
Everything happened so fast. Literally in a flash, Reiner and Bertholdt turned into the monsters that broke down the walls. Reiner quickly looked at your shocked face and teary eyes before the Armored Titan took over him.
Reiner grabbed Eren and jumped off the wall and all you could do was scream. Reiner..was the Armored titan? After all these years..everything you’ve been through...he was a traitor. A liar. He lied about everything. Did he perhaps lie about his love for you too? Hange held you as you balled your eyes out for him. The man you loved. How did everything change in a span of a few seconds?
Apparently everything.
~~~~
After Reiner left, you were broken. So many lives were lost, including your commander’s and due to that you had to get interviewed by the Military Police, Hange and your Captain. It was all the same questions and you gave the same answers. It was clear to everyone that you just couldn’t handle this pressure and this betrayal. Especially to Levi.
By the time you were interviewed by him, he saw how sick and distraught you looked. Your eyes developed eye bags that were black, your cheeks went in and you just...didn’t look good.
Levi kept it short and then dismissed you. For the next week, no one heard from you.
~~~~
Everyone was uneasy with the state you were in. No one had seen you come out of your room or train. Not even your closest friend, Jean, could see you.
When Jean returned to the table of the Levi squad, they all picked their heads up hoping he got through to you. He shook his head and sat down, defeated.
“Tch.” Levi scoffs and wakes up to go to your room. He gave all of your friends the chance and respected your privacy but now it was his turn. Levi felt really uneasy not seeing your smiling face around base and not hearing your voice that made everyone’s day a bit better.
He stood in front of your door and knocked. No answer. He knocked again and no reply. So using the keys he had, he unlocked your door and looked inside to see you on the floor.
He ran to you and leaned down to your face. You were breathing but by the looks of it, not merely enough. Your arms had slits and bruises and Levi acted fast. He lifted you into his arms and ran to the medical center where he was met by Hange.
Hange looked so confused but then looked at Levi who said: “just help them.”
~~~~
You woke up to bright lights and a white room where you were certain that this isn’t your room. You looked at your hands to see them wrapped in bandages and an IV connected to you.
“Good. You’re awake.”
You look to your left to see your captain sitting on a chair, cross-legged and furious. “C-Captain Levi. Why am I here?” You ask, your voice scratching your throat as you got used to using it again. “Because I found you passed out on the floor with cuts and bruises all over your body. Care to explain?”
You look down, trying to avoid his piercing gaze when you began to cry. “I’m easy.” You say softly and Levi leans closer. “What do you mean?” You look up at him and something in Levi pinched his heart. He did not like seeing you like this.
“I’m easy to abandon. Easy to forget and easy to leave. Reiner was my everything but to him, I was nothing. Did he even mean it? When he said he loved me? He left me without even trying to explain. I would’ve listened, Captain. Hear what he had to say because I loved him and that’s what you do for the people you love.” You put your face into your hands and cried. Levi exhaled and sat closer to you.
Gently, he took your hand and held it. “You’re not easy, Y/n. Reiner was a shit and traitor to everyone. He...,” he pauses for a moment, “he doesn’t deserve your love anymore.” You look at your Captain who, a few months ago, only shot orders to you but here he was, assuring you and comforting you.
You hold his hand a bit tighter and he looks at you. You give him a small smile as he blinks at you. “So, Y/n,” he lets go of your hand and clears his throat, “you’re under my care from now on. I’m going to make sure get back on your feet and eat properly.” He gets up and begins to walk to the door.
“Captain?” You call and he turns and looks at you.
“Thank you.”
Levi nods and walks out of the room and smiles to himself. He will help you. No matter what.”
~~~~
Throughout the weeks, Levi helped you to eat and to attend to your wounds. His normally rough hands were gentle and soft as he held your arms to wrap your bandages. He would sit next to you while you two ate to make sure you did. He wouldn’t leave you until you are everything.
When you would wake from your nightmares, Levi was the first one you would call. It started off with him just staying in your room until you fell asleep, but then that changed to him sitting next to you on the bed, then it was him settling next to you and you clinging to his shirt as his arms wrapped around you.
Levi had asked you what had interest you so you could get your mind of everything and you told him that you liked to read. So in the library, you showed Levi the books you enjoyed reading and he watched you blabber on about the stories. Your hair got in your face and without thinking, he brushed it away from your face and you froze.
“O-Oh. Sorry. I should’ve asked.” Levi whispers and you shake your head. “No, it’s okay. Thank you.” You say and you both look down, embarrassed. You flicker your gaze over to Levi who was still looking down at the book as if it suddenly became so interesting.
“Captain?” He looks at you, annoyed.
“Y/n..”
You chuckle at him.
“Sorry. Levi, may I ask you something?” You ask and he nods, facing you. You gulp slightly and face him properly. You played with your hands and tried To find your words but it only made you look super anxious. Levi reached over and held your trembling hands, making you look back at him.
“What is it?” He asks, voice soft and gentle. You see his eyes look at your lips and your eyes.
“May I kiss you?”
His lips part in shock but then it’s replaced but a small smile. “Do what you want.” You chuckle and lean in, laying a kiss on his lips. You thought Levi would pull away, but he pulled on your hands which made you stay on him. For a first kiss, this one wins.
You pulled away from him and smiled brightly. Probably the brightest Levi ever saw. You leaped into his arms and he held you close. “I love you Levi. Thank you for everything.” You whisper and he ruffles your hair. “I love you too, Y/n.”
Although you and Levi got together, the thought of Reiner still invaded your mind. Finally, after hearing what Eren was going to do through his letters, it was finally time to move on.
~~~~
“Levi?”
“Hmm?”
“We’re gonna see him soon.”
Levi turns to face you on your shared bed and you laid on your back, staring at the ceiling. “Hey.” He calls and places his arm around your waist and you turned towards him. “It’s okay. I’m here. He’s not going to hurt you ever again.” He promises and kisses your forehead. You snuggle under his neck and hold him close.
You ended up going undercover with Jean and you saw Reiner with a few kids and other soldiers. He did not look good. At all. Sometimes, you stood right in front of him and when he saw you, you turned and walked away, swapping places with a common villager. You made him think he was insane.
But the next day, you stood watching Reiner fight Eren and when he caught sight of you, his movements faltered. You changed. You weren’t the person he fell in love with anymore. You weren’t the person who screamed and cried as he transformed in front of you anymore. You weren’t the personwho would hold him as he faked his depression anymore.
You weren’t his anymore.
He saw the ring on your finger and he widened his eyes. “Y/n?” He says and you shake your head. Eren continues attacking him and soon everyone was aboard the plane.
“Didn’t you want to talk to him, Y/n?” Jean asks as you wraps an arm around your shoulders. “No. Nothing he can say will ever make me forgive him. But through time, I healed from his betrayal. Besides,” you turn and look at Levi who was swearing Zeke.
“I’m happy now.”

Dont hang out with those Pogues
Your new BF Rafe doesn't want you hanging out with your pogue friends anymore and things get physical. You can't hide it from JJ.
----
Pogue by birth, Kook by marriage. You were in an undefined area now that your mother, a pogue, married your now stepdad, a kook. The pogues were accepting of your new house on figure eight but they weren’t so accepting of your new relationship with Rafe Cameron. Your relationship was new and exciting, he was sweet. They just hadn’t gotten the chance to see that side of him yet.
Your family had met the Cameron’s at the country club for lunch one afternoon. You nearly choked on your water as Ward told you about Rafe’s first surf lesson. You stifled a laugh, excusing yourself to the restroom.
You stood outside the bathroom, checking your phone. John B sent you a video of JJ trying to jump off a rope swing, but getting tangled and swinging from it upside down instead. You laughed, typing out a response when arms laced around your waist. You jumped as Rafe’s head rested on your shoulder, his body pressed against your back.
“I was hoping to get you alone tonight.” He whispered in your ear, pressing a kiss to your neck.
You shivered as his kiss sent a chill up your spine. “Hey, you.” You smiled, turning into his arms, tucking your phone away.
He leaned down, pressing a kiss to your lips, sliding his hands into your back pockets.
Your phone vibrated in your back pocket as you pulled out of the kiss.
“Whose got your attention?” He muttered, dipping his head into your neck. He pulled his head back, looking over your screen.
You smiled at your phone, locking the screen again as you looked up. Your smile dropped from your face as you met Rafe’s darkened eyes. “JJ Maybank? Really, Y/N?” He clenched his jaw.
“What? Rafe, stop. They’re my friends.” You craned your neck, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
He turned his face, bringing his hand up to your jaw. “Baby.” He brushed your cheek with his thumb. “Don’t let me see you hanging around those dirty fucking pogues again, okay?” He tightened his grip on your face. “You have a reputation to keep now.” He pressed a gentle kiss against your forehead before storming off.
You furrowed your brow, watching him disappear down the hall. You returned back to lunch, remaining silent as Rafe pretended nothing had happened moments ago.
You brushed off Rafe’s attitude as jealousy. He knew you and your mom were born and raised pogues. He knew they were your friends. He was just jealous. But you were stubborn and you wouldn’t let a jealous boyfriend make decisions for you.
So, when John B called, you answered. The pogues were having a party and you had to be there.
“No, seriously Y/N, it was the funniest shit I’ve ever seen in my life.” John B recalled JJ’s accident.
“God, JJ. You’re a mess.” You laughed, leaning your head on his shoulder.
The night was winding down and the cooler was just about empty. “Shoot, guys. I gotta go. My mom and I have plans super early.” You groaned.
“Need a ride, chief?” Pope stood with you.
You nodded gratefully, waving goodbye to John B, JJ and Kiara before climbing into Pope’s truck.
Pope pulled into your driveway, giving you a questioning look as he registered Rafe sitting on your front steps. “He looks pissed.” He spoke, turning the music down.
“Yeah, he does.” You gulped. “Thanks for the ride, Pope.” You muttered, climbing out.
Pope didn’t pull away until you had reached the front steps and Rafe waved at him with fake sincerity.
“What are you doing here?” You asked innocently.
After Pope’s headlights had disappeared from view, Rafe grabbed your shoulders, pinning you against your front door. “What did I fucking tell you about hanging out with those damn pogues.” He spit, rage filling his eyes.
“Rafe, stop, you’re hurting me.” You wriggled, trying to free yourself. He brought one hand to your throat, the other stroking the top of your head. “You really don’t want to upset me, Y/N. I don’t think straight when I get upset.” He threatened. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” He pulled his hand from your throat, running his finger against your cheek as you flinched away from his touch.
You spent the next few days avoiding your friends. You felt awful but you couldn’t shake Rafe’s threat. You had every intention of ending things with him but you hadn’t worked up the courage yet.
JJ had texted you, letting you know there was a kegger at the boneyard that weekend and he hoped you would be there. You replied a vague I’ll let you know and prayed he didn’t push.
It wasn’t until Sarah Cameron and Topper texted you, insisting you to go to the kegger that you decided you would go. Rafe couldn’t do anything if you were surrounded by people. Besides, if Sarah and Topper were going, he really had no room to get mad at you for seeing your friends. You told yourself you would end things if you saw him there.
You pulled your hair back in two braids and pulled on an old flannel, probably belonging to JJ or John B. You met Sarah and Topper and headed to the boneyard. Rafe was nowhere to be seen, to your relief.
You found your way to the keg, filling a cup when a strong arm wrapped around your shoulder.
“Damn, Y/N. You look great in my clothes.” JJ teased. “Where the hell have you been?” He slurred into your ear, leading you towards the other pogues.
“Sorry, guys. I’ve been busy. I actually, um.” You looked over your shoulder to motion to Sarah when your stomach dropped. Through the flames you watched as Rafe crossed his arms, rage filling his eyes as he stared at you, tucked under JJ’s arm.
“Apple of your eye, eh Y/N?” Pope teased, motioning to Rafe’s rigid stance from across the beach.
You shrugged off JJ’s arm, suddenly feeling constrained by his closeness. You ran your hands down your loose braids, tearing your eyes from Rafe. You stuttered out a rough apology, turning away from the pogues, heading in the direction opposite of Rafe.
“Yo, yo, yo.” JJ called, jogging to catch up with you. “Where you running off to? We haven’t seen you all fucking week.” JJ uttered.
You glanced up behind JJ’s shoulders Rafe began stalking towards you. You tore your eyes from him, looking back at JJ. “I’m so sorry, um, I have to go. We’ll hang out tomorrow, okay? I promise.” You gave his hand a squeeze before turning and jogging up the sandy hill.
You glanced up over your shoulder, sighing with relief when you didn’t see Rafe trailing you.
“Where are you off to, baby?” He spoke sinisterly, popping out in front of you.
“Shit, Rafe. You scared me.” You raised a hand to your chest. You looked around nervously, hoping someone was close enough to see the two of you. There was no one. Just the two of you.
He gave you an ominous smile, craze twinkling in his eyes. “Baby.” He pouted, bringing his hand to your cheek like he had done so many times before.
The smile dropped from his face as he tightened his grip on your cheek, throwing you to the ground. “What did I fucking say?!” He leaned over you, spitting his hateful words into your face.
“Rafe, please. I didn’t come with them. I came with Sarah. And Topper. And, and I was coming to see you.” You pleaded.
He threw his hands into his hair, exhaling as you begged beneath him. “God dammit!” He cried, kicking you in the stomach. “Why can’t you just listen to me?!” He shouted as you curled into yourself.
“Please.” You begged, quieter now.He looked down at you, his expression dropping in concern.
He straddled you, holding your face in his hands. “I didn’t want to do this.” He whispered, stroking your cheek. You pinched your eyes closed, flinching away from his touch. “I’m sorry.”
He bit his lip, pulling his arm back and slapping you across the face. You tasted blood as he leaned down, resting his forehead against yours. “You made me do this.” He cried.
Your lip trembled as he came unhinged, slamming his fist against the ground next to your head, tears streaming down his face. He was ill, he was so mentally ill.
His arm fell limp against the ground. “I love you, Y/N.” He pressed a kiss to your forehead before climbing off of you. He looked down at you, wiping the sweat off his forehead. He shook his head as you curled into a fetal position, before he walked away, leaving you on the ground.
How you had managed to get home, you didn’t know. You climbed into your bathtub, fully clothed, turning the water on. You laid in the ice cold water all night, not able to process what had just happened.
Rafe was sick. He was a sick sociopath and you were so afraid. He had beat the life out of you and professed his love for you in the same 30 second stretch. If he could do this to you, he could do worse to your friends. You had to end things with him, but how could you? He was deeply disturbed, who knew what he was capable of?
You promised. Come over. JJ texted.
Sorry, J. Can’t today. You replied, tears welling in your eyes as you turned away your friends, yet again.
Thought you might bail. Too late. We’re here. He replied. You peered out the window, sure enough, there they were at the end of the dock. JJ waved seeing your head peek through the curtain.
10 minutes. You replied, realizing there was no evading them now.
You stared at your reflection, how could you possibly go on the boat looking like this? You pulled on a bikini, tugging on an oversized sweater on top. You pulled your hair out of your braids, hoping it would shield any marks left from the night before. You pressed concealer to the majority of the bruise on your jaw but frowned, realizing you couldn’t cover your split lip.
You walked out to the dock, glancing over your shoulder as nerves slipped into your stomach.
“There she is!” JJ called, hopping over the edge of the boat onto the dock, opening his arms wide for you.
“Y/N, you realize it’s like, a million degrees out?” John B questioned from the driver’s seat.
“Yeah, uh, I think I’m just getting a head cold or something. Super chilly.” You shrugged, stepping out of JJ’s arms.
“Yeah, whatever. Let’s fuckin’ goooo!” JJ called, jumping back into the boat. He held his hand out to you, helping you climb in.
You curled into a seat in the back of the boat, staring at the water as John B cruised into the marsh.
“So, how’s Rafe?” Pope kicked his feet up next to you as JJ stood at the bow and Kie scolded him. “What happened that night?”
“What night? What do you mean? Nothing happened.” You rambled, pulling at your sweater, worrying he had seen a bruise.
“The night I took you home? He was all pissy on the porch?” Pope raised an eyebrow at your reaction.
“Yeah, dude’s a little bitch, Y/N.” JJ called, jumping down from the bow.
“Let’s swim, guys. It’s so hot.” Kie moaned, stepping out of her shorts.
“As you wish.” John B declared, dropping the anchor.Kie and John B jumped in. Pope shrugged, jumping in after. JJ took a running start, flipping off the stern next to where you were sitting.
“I’m gonna chill up here, I think. Still kinda cold.” You lied.
JJ splashed water up at you, squawking like a chicken. You were drowning in sweat in your sweatshirt. You raised the end, revealing the darkening bruise on your stomach and swallowed a lump in your throat. You definitely would not be swimming today.
After what felt like hours, the crew climbed back into the boat, cruising back to the chateau.
JJ slid in next to you, draping an arm over your shoulder. You flinched slightly at his touch and he looked down at you, squinting his eyes accusingly.
He leaned down into your ear, whispering so no one would hear. “What’s up with you?”
You pursed your lips, shrugging. “Nothing.”
“You can’t hide anything from me, Y/N. You’re off and I’m gonna find out why.” He took a sip of his beer, pulling you closer into his side.
You lit a fire and cozied up outside back at the chateau. It was nice seeing your friends again and you felt safe being around them. But in the back of your mind you feared Rafe would find out and he wouldn’t let you off so easy this time.
“So, Rafe likes it rough, huh Y/N?” John B called from across the fire.
“Rafe? Rough? As if.” JJ scoffed. “He’s a pussy.”
“How else would you explain the busted lip?” John B shrugged, sinking further into the hammock he was swinging in.You laughed, bringing a hand to your lip. Your fingers shaking as you brushed over the cut, recalling every hand he laid on you.
“I’ll be right back. Anyone need a beer?” You called, starting towards the house. You felt the tears pricking at your eyes, fearing they would slip out in front of your friends.
You stepped into the house, letting out a shaky breath. You moved into the bathroom, leaning over the sink.
“Y/N?” JJ whispered. You hadn’t heard him follow you into the house, let alone the bathroom. “Hey, what’s going on?” He stepped forward, placing his hands on either side of your arms.
You, again, flinched at his touch and he noticed. His eyes searched yours for any kind of answer as you felt yourself shrinking in his arms. Your lip trembled as you pulled at the sleeves of your shirt.
JJ’s jaw clenched, dropping his hands. He shoved them in his pockets, looking to the far corner of the bathroom. “What did he do?”
You let out an exasperated sob as you stepped forward, he wrapped his arms around you, leaning his head against yours. He let you sob in his chest for a moment before he ran his hands down your hair, pulling your face back.
He blue eyes fixed on yours as he held your tear-stricken cheeks. “Tell me.”
You looked away, unable to meet his eyes as you pulled up the bottom of your sweatshirt, revealing the swelling bruise that spread across your stomach.
“I’ll kill him.” He flared his nostrils, biting his lip in frustration.“JJ, please. He’s fucking crazy. Just don’t.” You begged.
He scrunched his nose, desperately wanting to get his hands of Rafe’s.
“I’m so scared, J.” You whispered. He sighed, pulling you into his chest.
“You’re okay. I got you. He won’t hurt you anymore.” He whispered into your hair.
--
You unintentionally fell asleep in the hammock outside, tucked into JJ’s side. But you didn’t mind. You felt safe with JJ.
You groaned as a car door slammed, curling your head into JJ’s chest.“Fuck off!” JJ called as footsteps grew closer.
You pulled your head off JJ’s chest, peering over the edge of the hammock, letting out a gasp when you realized who it was.
“JJ.” You whispered, sitting up.
“Y/N, baby, where have you been? Sleeping with a pogue? What have I told you!” Rafe called over, a twisted smile spreading across his face as he beat his fist against his chest.
“Fuck.” JJ muttered, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He climbed out of the hammock, pulling you behind him. “Yo, John B? Mind joining us out here?” JJ called for backup.
“That’s my girlfriend you’ve got there, Maybank.” Rafe paced in front of you two.
John B stepped out of the house, his hair was a mess as he let out a yawn, straightening quickly when he took in the interaction in front of him.
“I think it’s not.” JJ smiled, cracking his knuckles as he stepped forward.
“What’s going on, JJ?” John B called out.
“Our buddy Rafe Cameron likes to hit women.” JJ spit, eyeing up Rafe as they paced around one another. Rafe’s eyes flickered between you and JJ.
John B’s jaw dropped slightly as he looked at you with sad eyes. You nodded slightly, confirming JJ’s accusation.“Rafe, please just go. It’s over.” You tried your best to sound firm.
“I don’t think you are in any position to tell me we’re done.” He sneered, running his tongue across his lower lip. “These pogues are going to be the end of you, baby. Remember last time? The blood and the bruises?” He squinted his eyes in your direction.
JJ nodded, stepping forward. “You’re dead.” He declared, lunging at Rafe, knocking him to the ground. He easily straddled him, throwing punch after punch into his face.
“JJ, stop!” You cried as blood began to pour down Rafe’s nose and out his mouth. “John B, stop him! He’s going to kill him!” You cried, throwing your hands into your hair.
John B jogged over to the two rolling around in the dirt, pulling JJ off Rafe’s limp body. “Alright, big guy. You got him, you’re good.” He said as JJ wiped the blood off his lip.
Tears welled in your eyes as Rafe stood, spitting blood in your direction before stalking off.
JJ turned to you, the rage melting off his face as he met your frightened eyes. He opened his arms, stepping towards you as you crashed into his chest.
“I got you, Y/N. You’re okay.” He whispered.
You pulled back, holding his jaw in your hand. You ran your thumb across his cheek, steaked with blood, sweat, and dirt as you searched his eyes.
Your eyes pulled from his, down to his lips. You ran your thumb across the cut on his bottom lip, nearly identical to your own. You looked back up to his eyes as he stared down at you.
You took his jaw, pulling his mouth to yours, pressing an urgent kiss to his.
You kept your forehead pressed to his as you pulled your lips back ever so slightly. “Thank you.” You whispered.

The man pressed himself against the wall, watching his target laugh loudly with his group of friends. They stumbled, obviously intoxicated, and the man shook his head, realizing how easy this would be. He stepped out of the shadows, his long hair shielding the part of his face that wasn’t covered by his mask. The group of intoxicated men stumbled into an alleyway, their laughter still echoing off the surrounding buildings as he moved closer.
Parts of the group started to break off, wandering in the direction of their homes until the target was the only one left, staggering through the alleyway. The man glanced at the camera on the corner of the building before hurrying after his mark. He approached the target silently, only reaching out when he could smell the stale scent of booze wafting off the target.
“What the…” the target gasped. The air was forced from his lungs when the masked man slammed him against the nearby wall by the throat. The light over the alleyway sparkled off the metal around the target’s throat. “O-oh my g-god…you’re…you’re the Wi-.” The target was cut off when the man closed his fist.

Steve’s piercing ringtone jolted him awake, and he scrambled around for his phone, nearly falling off his bed.
           “Hello?”
“Captain Rogers.” Steve blinked, pulling the phone away from his head to read the caller ID; Secretary Ross’ office number shined back at him, and he brought the phone to his ear again.
           “Secretary Ross?”
“You need to get eyes of Barnes immediately,” Ross snapped.
“What? Why?” Steve fumbled around, almost knocking his lamp over in the process of trying to turn it on.
“There’s been a possible Winter Soldier sighting, and I need to know if it’s authentic,” Ross explained through his teeth.
“Uh, yeah, okay,” Steve mumbled, sliding out of bed.
“Stark, Romanoff, and Wilson should be meeting you somewhere in the compound. They should’ve been alerted as well,” Ross added. “I expect a call when you’ve got an answer.”
“Yes, sir,” Steve hummed, hanging up before Ross could say anything else.
Tumblr media
Pounding on his bedroom door yanked Bucky out of a dead sleep, the first he’d had in a long time. He stumbled out of bed, throwing the door open, a sleepy scowl etched deep into his face; the expression fell away when he was met with a small group outside his door. Steve stood at the front in his pajamas, Nat behind him wrapped in a fuzzy red robe, Tony looking grumpy in a t-shirt and shorts, and Sam shirtless at the back of the group. All four of them looked surprised when he answered the door, leaving an uneasy feeling in his stomach.
“Did I miss the midnight invitation for a party in my bedroom?” Bucky snapped, scratching at the short stubble on his chin.
“Uh,” Steve started, blinking lamely at Bucky. “S-sorry.”
“I’m going back to bed,” Sam yawned, wandering away from Bucky’s door.
“I second that,” Nat sighed, wrapping her robe tighter around her chest and following Sam. Steve and Tony shared a look before Tony sighed and disappeared down the hall as well; Bucky stared at Steve, trying to understand what just happened.
           “Steve,” Bucky pushed.
“Sorry, we, uh, got a call from Ross,” Steve supplied, mindlessly scratching at his stomach.
           “About?”
“There was a report of a sighting of…of the Winter Soldier.”
Tumblr media
The following day, Bucky sat down with Steve and Tony for a virtual conference with Ross; he wrung his hands under the table, trying to avoid fidgeting with his hair or clothes.
“Secretary Ross,” Tony greeted flatly when his face appeared on the screen.
“Gentlemen,” Ross grumbled. “Let’s cut to the chase. I need verification that Sergeant Barnes was in the compound all night.”
“FRIDAY, send Secretary Ross the footage outside Barnes’ door last night,” Tony called, dropping in the chair opposite the screen.
“It’s been taken care of, sir,” FRIDAY replied after a few seconds.
“Where was the sighting?” Steve spoke up, resting a comforting hand on Bucky’s shoulder.
“New Jersey,” Ross provided, sounding slightly distracted. “There’s no other way out of his bedroom?”
“No, sir,” Steve started, but Tony cut in.
“The rooms have windows, but there are alarm systems on them, so FRIDAY would notify me if anything went in or out of the window.”
“And she can’t be overridden?” Ross raised a brow, watching Tony through his screen, looking for any signs of lying.
“Look, sir,” Bucky cut in, leaning against the table. “I understand you don’t trust me, period, but I didn’t leave the compound last night or at all yesterday now that I think about it, and I’m also not technologically inclined enough to do anything to FRIDAY.”
“Every possibility needs to be checked, Sergeant Barnes,” Ross hissed, glaring at him.
“Yes, sir. I understand, sir,” Bucky replied immediately, sitting back in his chair like a scolded child.
“I’ll have FRIDAY run a complete system scan and check for any disturbances,” Tony sighed, massaging between his eyes.
“Good,” Ross grunted. “Sergeant Barnes is not to leave the confines of the compound without an escort until further notice. I would also advise FRIDAY to keep tabs on his every movement in case of a further incident.”
Steve’s eyes scrunched shut, and he bit his tongue to keep from arguing. “Yes, sir.”
“I’ll be in touch,” was all Ross said before the call ended and Tony, Steve, and Bucky were left sitting in silence.
Tumblr media
Bucky was vindicated a few days later when Ross decided Bucky was asleep in the compound that night. Even though Bucky was cleared to do whatever he wanted now, an anxious hum took root under his skin, leaving him on edge constantly. Steve reluctantly agreed to show Bucky the surveillance video from the incident, but it only made the sick feeling in his stomach worse. Someone was walking around with what seemed to be his face, and he had no idea who it was or why they were doing it.
A few weeks passed with no new sightings, and Bucky started to relax, giving into Sam and Steve’s begging to get out of the compound. The three decided on a bar nearby and agreed to bring Nat and Wanda along for some fresh air. Bucky managed to have a little bit of fun after the last few weeks of paranoia; Wanda sucked him into a conversation about a book she was reading when Nat got up for another drink.
“Hey,” Steve cut in, startling Bucky and Wanda. “Where’d Nat go?”
“She went to grab a drink,” Wanda provided, furrowing her brow at Steve.
“Yeah, like 10 minutes ago,” Sam added.
“Should we check on her?” Bucky asked, glancing at the slightly crowded bar.
“Maybe she went to the bathroom,” Wanda provided. “I have to go too, so I’ll see if I can find her.” The three men nodded stiffly, watching the redhead weave through the crowds of people.
“Thanks, guys,” Bucky sighed, bringing his beer to his lips again.
“You were turning into a hermit,” Sam snorted, knocking shoulders with the super-soldier.
“I had a good reason,” Bucky argued, tipping his bottle towards Sam. Steve shook his head, looking ready to add something when horror bloomed on his face, and he jumped from his chair. Sam tried to ask what happened, but he was already gone; the remaining two looked at each other before getting to their feet, following the path Steve had taken. They pushed through two people in their way, nearly running Steve over; Wanda was in front of him with a badly beaten Natasha draped over her shoulder.
“What the fuck happened,” Sam gasped, shifting around Steve. Nat lifted her head, finding Sam but her eyes quickly flickered over to Bucky, rage exploding from her.
“You!” she screamed, lunging away from Wanda. Steve sidestepped, catching Nat before she could get to Bucky.
“What happened!” Steve shouted, struggling to keep Nat caged in his arms.
“That fucking asshole a-“ Nat stopped, going limp in Steve’s grip as she looked over Bucky again, her face going slack. “But…I just…hold on.”
“Nat, I didn’t touch you,” Bucky whispered, taking a step closer.
“Oh fuck,” she breathed, her eyes growing wider at the same time Bucky’s did.
“We gotta go,” Sam suddenly said, herding the present Avengers towards the door. Bucky stumbled along, barely aware of what was going on as panic set in again; he was pushed down into the backseat of Steve’s car, pressing against Wanda’s side.
“He was there,” Bucky whispered, staring wide-eyed at the floor.
Tumblr media
Bucky tip-toed down the dark alley, gun at the ready as he checked every nook and cranny, his heart pounding in his chest.
“Anything yet?” Steve’s crackled in his ear, scaring him, but he didn’t flinch.
“Nothing,” Bucky whispered back, quickly turning down to check another break in the buildings.
“Fuck,” Nat hissed through the earpiece. Bucky sighed, trying to release some of the tension in his shoulders and bring them down from around his ears, but he was too wound up. He could hear the faint bustle of New York City over the thump of his boots against the concrete; the team got a tip of a sighting in the city the night before and wasted no time heading out. Nat, Steve, Sam, Clint, Wanda, and Bucky were spread out around the general area of the sighting, looking for any clues.
“Oh Jesus,” Clint retched. The faint sound on his dinner coming up made Bucky’s stomach turn, and a shiver ran through him.
“Clint?” Nat’s yell echoed from a street near Bucky, and he took off running in the direction where Clint should be.
“I don’t know what the fuck this is, but, uhhh,” Clint panted. Bucky rounded the nearest corner, meeting Wanda and Sam there before heading towards Clint, who was bracing himself against a building, spitting and wiping his mouth.
“What is it?” Steve jogged towards them from the opposite direction with Nat on his heels. Clint weakly waved towards the break in the alley, refusing to turn around again; Bucky, Steve, and Sam approached slowly, searching for whatever Clint found.
“What the fuck!” Sam yelled, jumping back into Bucky. Bucky shot him an exasperated look before stepping around him to look, and man, did he regret it. It looked like a pile of clothes at first glance, but the longer he studied it, he noticed what looked like skin catching the light. Bile burned at the back of Bucky’s throat as he stumbled away, horrified, barely making it away from Sam before hurling himself. Somehow Steve and Sam managed to keep their composure as they took a closer look; Wanda and Nat didn’t even bother to try.
“Alright,” Steve mumbled, trying to hide his disgusted shiver. “Continue the sweep and look for any more of this…stuff.”
“Great,” Clint sighed, pushing away from the wall he was leaning on. Without another word, Bucky, Clint, Wanda, and Nat took off, desperate to get away from whatever the fuck they found. Bucky tried to stay focused as he moved back onto his block, but he couldn’t get the image of the pile of what he was sure now was skin. He kept walking, checking any place someone could hide, but he was still so preoccupied with their discovery that he didn’t hear the approaching footsteps. Bucky stopped to inspect the stairs that led down to the backdoor of a building when he finally heard them, but it was too late.
“I didn’t think you’d ever find me.” Bucky froze. The sound of his own voice calling out to him, taunting him, was stranger and more terrifying than he’d imagined. He slowly turned, forcing himself to keep his eyes open and never letting his guard down. Bucky’s stomach turned as he met familiar blue eyes that he was only used to seeing in the mirror.
“What…what are you,” Bucky stammered, staring at his own face twisted in a sadistic smirk.
“Bucky?” Sam said in his ear. “What’s going on?”
           “I don’t really think that’s important,” Bucky’s look-a-like chuckled, lazily strolling closer.
“Kinda important to me,” Bucky snapped, tightening his grip on the gun at his side.
“Let me put it this way,” the other huffed. “It won’t matter for much longer.” Bucky was too distracted by the copy of himself walking and talking that he didn’t notice the slight movement of the copy’s left arm. Bucky stared down the barrel of the gun, his blood roaring in his ears as his heart nearly burst through his ribs; he at least had enough sense at that moment to lift his own gun.
Tumblr media
Sam jogged to meet Steve halfway and caught a flash of Wanda’s red hair under the lights at the other end.
“Hurry up!” Steve yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth. Clint, Wanda, and Nat picked up their pace, and as soon as they were close enough, Sam and Steve fell in step. The Avengers were only a few feet from the mouth of the alleyway when the gunshot rang out, quick and efficient like the strike of a cobra. The five skid to stop, staring down at the figure facing them as the figure dropped their arm.
“Took ya long enough,” Bucky panted, stepping over the body at his feet.
“Thank god,” Steve choked out, bending to brace his hands on his knees.
“Let’s go take care of, whatever that is,” Sam offered, taking a deep breath and smacking Bucky’s shoulder as he passed.
“Nice job, buddy,” Clint sighed, elbowing Bucky before following Sam. ‘Bucky’ stood with his back to them, a dark smile slowly crawling up his face.

babe u better write a part three or something because we’re waiting-
ALSO IT’S BEEN SO GOOD WTF?? SO PROUD
sooo sorry for the long wait but here is PART THREE!  Thank you guys so much for the support, It makes me so happy that you like this mini series :’)))
of course, here is Part one and Part Two ! <333
There he was, in the arms of another. There he was, his lips which should be on yours, on someone elses.
There you were, standing heartbroken at the scene before you.
You meet up with him the same night. A frown evident on your face the whole car ride until he stops the car in a parking lot and looks at you.
“You’ve been silent all night. Are you going to tell me what happened before we go to this party or are you going to be a moody little bitch?” His tone was stern and his words were like knives going through your heart.
“Where were you today?” You ask, still not looking at him.
He lets out a chuckle, “babe, I told you I had lacrosse practice.”
“I saw you at the mall with Delilah, Trevor.” You say, now looking at him, anger filling your body. “I saw you kiss her.”
He stares at you for a moment, you can see his face turn a slight red even in the dim light of his car. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Tears start to run down your face without you even realising. “I’m not fucking stupid Trevor! I-It was you, you kissed her a-and-“
“Hey baby please stop crying, who told you this? Your stupid friends? You’re kind of acting crazy right now.” He says cupping our face, a small, false, smile on his face while you try not to hyperventilate too much. “It doesn’t matter what you saw or what you didn’t. what matters is that I’m here and I love you okay? I’m with you right now because you’re the only one I want. Understand?”
You gulp and nod. Maybe it’s just one kiss, maybe your eyes were deceiving you. Maybe you were too infatuated by him to even function properly and get the fuck out of there. His heart is in the right place. That’s what you thought to yourself.
That’s what you thought to yourself even when you saw him make out with another girl at the party.
His heart is in the right place.
That’s what you told yourself while you sobbed in the bathroom.
His heart is in the right place.
That’s what you told your friends when they were concerned about what happened.
No. He cheated on you. He cheated on you and guess what you did? Held hands with him and pretended like everything was okay. You didn’t want to lose him. You didn’t want to leave.
You put a fake smile on every time you went out with him and when you got home you spent the rest of your night sobbing in bed.
You’re father asked you whats wrong. Why you weren’t eating. why you never smiled anymore at home. You’re the most precious thing in his life. His princess. He just had to know what was wrong and there you were, crying at the dinner table.
“But it’s okay daddy,” You sniffled. “I forgave him, he’ll change, he loves me.” You’re so naïve.
Your father was angry but didn’t say a word.
Two weeks later you were crying again but this time, at Trevors funeral.
You were so clueless. “It was just a car accident.”
“Drunk driving.”
“no I heard he took some real hardcore drugs before getting in his car.”
“Poor soul, so young.”
You heard people whisper at the ceremony.
No one could know that your father was the one who killed him.
Your father killed him. Your father killed him. Your father killed him.
“Wake up ma belle.” You heard a whisper.
You open your eyes and the night sky is above you, a few stars freckled here and there.
Your head aches but you manage to turn your head to the side, greeted by the sight of Chat Noir.
“What happened?” You ask, groggily.
You sit up and rub your head. Where did this cat take you? It seemed to be a rooftop of some kind but you had no idea where.
“You fainted.” He states and gives you a small smile. “But luckily I was there to help you.” He winks.
“wow my hero.” You say sarcastically and rolls your eyes but you end it with a small laugh. You stop laughing instantly when you realise what happened.
“My dad. Where is he?” You ask wide eyed.
Chat purses his lips together and looks away.
“Chat,” You say cautiously and gulp. “Tell me what happened to my father.”
“I’m sorry,” He says quietly and sighs. “He’s been arrested.”
You clasp your hand over your mouth and you can feel your heart sink in your chest. Tears well up in your eyes and they slowly fall while you quietly sobbed in your hand.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay.” You heard him say as he pulls you to him, his hand rubbing your shoulder to comfort you.
“what am I going to do, Chat?” You breathe out and look up at him. “I don’t know.” He whispers, concern filling his green eyes.
You could never allow yourself to be this vulnerable in front of anyone, let alone a complete stranger, but you trusted Chat for some odd reason. It could be the mask hiding who he really is or it could just be instinct but you knew he was a man with good intentions. He’s a hero after all and you felt comfort in that.
“I can take you home whenever you tell me okay?” He says and rests his head on top of yours.
You nod silently and nuzzle into his chest even further.
“Adrien…” You whisper. “Is-is he okay? Please I would never forgive myself if something happened to him?” You sniffle.
You could feel Chats’ smile growing. “He’s just fine m’lady, there’s nothing to worry about.”
You nod and start to give yourself time to think.
Both your parents were in jail. You were completely alone now.
You knew that the only guardian you had was your aunt back in New York. You knew that this could mean that the short lived happiness you found in Paris could end.
You were fucked. You couldn’t let that happen.
Your thoughts were interrupted by a sudden beeping noise.
“I’m sorry but I have to take you home before I transform back into my civilian form.”
You nod weakly and hold onto him. You feel him wrap his arms around you and suddenly you were leaping from building to building. If only you could feel the rush and excitement, but your mind was too occupied to even feel anything.
Before you knew it you were set on the balcony of your room. You slide the door open and see your curtains move with the wind. “Thank you Chat.” You say and look at him, trying your best to force a smile on your face.
“Please, it was my pleasure.” He says and kissed your hand, grinning at you.
You watch him almost about to leap off but you grab his tail. He looks at you, raising an eyebrow.
“Really, Thank you.” You say but this time you say it more firmly, looking straight into his eyes.
He doesn’t break eye contact with you.
The feeling he made you feel was familiar, it made your insides flutter and warmth grow inside of you. It was comforting. A feeling you got when Adrien looked at you.
“I’m always here. Always will be.” He says and with that he jumps away.
You kept watching his silhouette leap off of the buildings until he disappeared into the darkness.
Be-friending a super hero could be another reason why you wanted to stay in Paris.
Your mind wondered off to Adrien. He was probably worried sick about you. You should text him to let him know that you’re okay. You knew you weren’t ready to leave your room for the next week probably. You couldn’t bring yourself to put on a fake smile and pretend that nothing is happening. You simply couldn't.
You wondered if the masked superhero would come again.
Paris was your chance at a fresh start. Maybe that fresh start was short lived. or maybe this was just the beginning.

‘So? Neil why isn’t coming again?’
‘Because he said he had to take care of his daughter,’ Dilshad said, looking away.
Alishka sighed happily. There was nothing good about not having her older brother visit her in Boston, but she was also somewhat relieved. Conjuring up stories was unlike her, but Neil had insisted upon seeing the ‘Guy from Work’, a result of her confiding in Gianna, his wife. Alishka had stopped telling things to her after that.
‘I bet she is growing up fast,’ she said, lining up her next shot.
‘She is. You won’t believe how much she has grown since you last saw her.’
She laughed. ‘I know that. I have talked to her, you know. She video calls me every Sunday.’
‘That’s cute. We only ever talk when I am over.’
‘Yeah ‘cause she likes me better than you.’
‘She likes me better than you,’ Dilshad mocked, pitching his voice higher, making her laugh even more. ‘Don’t think I’ll fall for that trap.’
‘It’s not a trap. It’s the truth.’
Her ball rolled toward the pins, and she had another perfect score.
‘Hell, how do you do that?’
She smirked. ‘You gotta focus.’
‘Ofcourse,’ he said, rolling his eyes.
To be honest, in a long time, she actually felt happy. After the … events at Miami, she hadn’t been sleeping well. A game of bowling with her brother felt like therapy. She had also asked her friends to tag along, but only Bryce had been free, and he should have been here by now…
‘Hi Lish, sorry I am late,’ he said, leaning in for a quick hug.
‘No worries,’ she said, hugging him back. ‘This is Dilshad, my brother.’
They exchanged greetings and warmed up to each other. It amazed Alishka how easily Bryce got along with everyone. He just had that … personality.
‘So Lish, ready to lose?’
‘You bet.’
#
‘That’s no good. Another perfect score.’
Ethan laughed, a full hearty laugh in what seemed like weeks. James was being especially whiny as he lost their little match at Bowling as he proceeded to take off the tennis shoes and put the ball back.
‘How the hell do you do that?’
‘Focus,’ Ethan answered, breathing heavily.
‘Yeah, sure,’ James mocked. ‘Look, this has been fun, but how about we meet for dinner tonight? And don’t be ridiculous and try to bullshit me by giving some excuse. You are coming.’
‘Okay,’ he said, chuckling. ‘You can be pretty relentless.’
‘That I am. Although, I gotta take off now, so I’ll see you at dinner? Libertine? Sounds good?’
‘Yeah, I’ll see you then.’
‘Yeah, ‘kay.’
As he disappeared into the crowd, Ethan leaned back, taking a moment to relax while he got rid of his own shoes. Having a day off wasn’t always good. He was a workaholic, and he liked to keep himself busy, but sometimes, slowing down felt good too.
He could’ve never imagined he’d be out bowling when Naveen was this sick, but James had been adamant. He had said, ‘Sometimes a cleansing of mind is required. Maybe you’ll think better after having some time for yourself.’
Well, he didn’t know if James was right. But it didn’t hurt much to give a few hours to his friend rather than arguing, because that would never be useful. James was a lawyer, he knew his ways.
Ethan sighed. As much as he had loved the few hours they had spent together, it was time to go back and do some more research.
He stood up, walking with his determined stride, keeping his head low. Only now he noticed how chaotic a bowling alley actually could be. For him being in his own tone, he halfheartedly ignored the familiar laughter that filled his ears, thinking he was probably just imagining.
But just a moment later, he slammed into someone, his arms immediately reaching out to catch her because she was knocked off balance.
Only then he realised that he hadn’t quite imagined her laughter.
She was actually here.
#
For a moment of madness, it felt all too impossible.
Ethan Ramsey didn’t do activities. Hell, he didn’t even take off days. For her to meet him here of all places, and this way… she had to be dreaming.
Her eyes widened as she pulled back, stumbled on her own feet before staggering even backwards.
‘You okay, Lish?’ Bryce asked. ‘And you–’
‘Hello, Dr. Lahela.’
‘Uh, hi, Dr. Ramsey.’
Oh dear God. Could this get any more worse?
‘Is this the guy from work?’
Guy from Work. Ofcourse.
Alishka’s eyes widened even more in horror. And she noticed Ethan’s eyebrows rise at the mention. ‘How do you know? Who told you?’
‘Gianna, she said, –’
‘Shh,’ Alishka hissed, but to no avail.
‘Well, you are quite the man,’ Dilshad said, smiling as he walked past her. ‘Hi, I am Dilshad Roy, her brother.’
Vaguely, she regretted all this, even though there was no way she could have known. This just wasn’t like the Ethan she knew. But somehow, that seemed to be a less of a concern now. She exhaled sharply, about to cut in, but then her gaze met Ethan’s. She couldn’t tell what he was thinking as he raised a hand to stop her.
‘Yeah,’ Ethan said with a small smile. ‘It seems you already know me.’
Alishka winced. Apparently, it could get worse.
‘Who wouldn’t? You are Ethan Ramsey, her medical hero. And …’
‘Her boyfriend,’ he finished, ignoring the shiver running down his spine at the word.
#
He didn’t know what had taken over in that moment. His duplicity came quite naturally. Was it out of protective instinct or in a desire to live in a bubble, he didn’t know.
He wasn’t aware of what Alishka’s family knew about them. This could be some move in that situation, but he barely gave it a thought as he moved to Alishka’s side.
‘Would you like to play a round, Ethan?’ Dilshad asked over the loud music that filled the alley.
‘He can’t stay,’ Alishka said immediately. ‘There is an important research to be finished, and..’
‘And you don’t need to worry about that,’ he offered. ‘I’ll be happy to stay for a round.’
Alishka painted a false smile on her face when Dilshad looked her way, but in reality, she was in complete utter shock. They moved to the side some more, allowing people to pass around them. Almost too suddenly, she looked away, Ethan following her gaze to a distant corner of the alley. His gaze slipped down to the mustard yellow ripped top she was wearing, paired with jeans. She looked good in casual clothes, not something he saw her usually in.
‘You didn’t have to do that, you know,’ she whispered, crossing her arms across her chest. ‘Lie like that. Why did you do it?’
‘I don’t know,’ he said under his breath. ‘Felt like the right thing to do.’
She scoffed. ‘Right thing about what, Ethan? I think you were very clear–’
She was interrupted when he loudly cleared his throat as Dilshad approached.
‘Here you go man, let’s do this.’
‘Yeah,’ Ethan said with a chuckle. Let’s do it.
#
One and a half rounds later, Ethan found himself again by the side of Alishka, quietly staring at the floor. He wondered what she found so fascinating about it.
For the lack of anything to say, his gaze shuffled between their feet, wondering about what she had been saying earlier. It was right, he had been very clear about the nature of their relationship when they had been back from Miami.
It had been his decision after all, hadn’t it?
Beside him, Alishka sighed loudly. Her silence was worse than he could’ve ever imagined.
Maybe she was correct. Maybe he did it for himself, throwing all the rationality he stuck by otherwise out of the window. Maybe he was wrong in creating this bubble.
He didn't know.
What he knew now, was that apparently, both of them had tremendous acting skills. And they’d have to use it for a little more time because soon, they would be done with this little bubble that he had created so impulsively.
Coming to think of it, maybe he was wrong, but he didn’t want to acknowledge that.
‘AW MAN!’ Dilshad exclaimed as Bryce did his – possibly – first perfect score. ‘I can’t believe I lost!’
‘We all have our days, Dilshad,’ Alishka said quietly, before turning to look at Ethan with cold steel. ‘I guess, we should leave now, I have got some homework to do for our next case.’
‘Yeah,’ Bryce offered. ‘Lish, can I walk you?’
‘Ofcourse,’ she smiled brightly. ‘Just a moment please.’
Pulling Ethan aside by the arm, she brushed her hair away and looked up at him. ‘If we get into any mess because of this, it’s on you. Like I said, you didn’t have to do that. I don’t like lying. And therefore, you can’t blame me for anything.’
With that, she walked away, wrapping an arm around Bryce as he led her outside.
‘She can be like that sometimes,’ Dilshad said, looking at the expression on Ethan’s face. He wasn’t quick enough to school it into a proper smile. ‘Weird, you know, but don’t let it bother you. She is probably just stressed.’
And she is right to be, he thought, but said nothing.
‘What I was saying is, it’s her, I mean our niece’s birthday next month. And she’d be really happy if you come.’
If we get into any mess because of this, it’s on you. Like I said, you didn’t have to do that. I don’t like lying. And therefore, you can’t blame me for anything.
Ethan offered a tight smile, watching her disappear into bright light of the day.
‘Yes, ofcourse.’

Chimichangas
A/N: This is my first time writing a fanfic. I am super nervous but I have an overabundance of love for Joaquin Torres so I had to put it somewhere. I'm doing @caplanbuckybarnes's summer writing challenge.
Summary: Falling in love at the supermarket wasn’t on your to-do list today, yet here you were snatching looks at a cute stranger.
Warnings: (I don't know if these count as warnings) GN!Reader, No Y/N, Joaquin Torres is an absolute cutie pie!
‘They were gone. All of them.’ I thought as I rummaged through the wrongfully stocked freezer. A sniffle escaped, then two, which was followed by a full on wail.
“Who the hell put the Steak and Cheese chimichangas where the Chicken and Cheese chimichangas goes!?”
I slammed the freezer door and rested my head on it and placed my hand on the cold glass.
Casual shoppers and workers tiptoed around me while I grumbled to myself in annoyance. I just wanted my comfort food.
A full on breakdown in the middle of a grocery store and I gave no fucks. A tap on my shoulder and I whirled around ready to light up the poor soul who decided to bother me.
“What do you want?” I wiped the tears from my face with a growl. Giant innocent eyes looked at me in shock as I grimaced at him.
“Hi - um, can I help you?” He bravely pointed at his name tag which said ‘Joaquin’ with the Walmart name above
“Sure~ can you just point me towards the person who decided to sleep on the job and stock the wrong chimichangas in the wrong spot? I just wanna have a little chat.” I said with a fake smile on my face.
“Th-that would be me.” He gulped and pointed over his shoulder towards the stocking material behind him.
You peeked around him and just glared.
“So it was you. You have been declared as my arch nemesis. Where are the chicken and cheese chimichangas?”
“They are out of stock. But we can call you when they are back in stock.”
The air suddenly became tense.
“...Believe it or not, they already have my number because I buy them so often. It is Tuesday and it’s 8:30. They are always stocked at 8pm on Tuesday.” I looked down at my watch to double check the time. I crossed my arms ready to take my frustrations out on the worker.
“We are going to have to call some people.” He said plainly.
“What?” My head tilted to the side in confusion.
“For this chimichanga shortage. We need to call some people.” His smile got bigger as he continued talking.
“Chimi..changa shortage? If they are going to fix my day then you better call them.”
“I’m kidding..”
“Oh.” I let out a nervous laugh and made a face.
He ran a hand through his fluffy black curls and huffed. I took a look at his face, he was nervous.
“...Are you new?” You raised an eyebrow at him.
“To the stock things department, yes. This grocery store, no. I’m so sorry that I stocked it wrong but thank you for pointing it out for me.”
I immediately felt bad because I realized that I was being a dick over some food.
“I’m so sorry. I’m just having a bad day. It was just a complete shit show. My cat got sick, my car is on it’s last leg and my boss is on my ass and I ran out of chimichangas and forgot to restock my fridge so here I am today - “
I rambled on and on.
“Hey, it’s okay. We all have bad days. I thought this was about to be a bad day for me also because you were upset at me.”
“I’m sorry again. I’ll live without them. I should go home before I embarrass myself even more.”
I lowered my head now feeling shy and more aware of my surroundings.
“Before you go, I think I have something that will make your day a little better. Follow me.” He turned swiftly and started walking away.
“Uh, no. I’ve burdened you enough today, sir.”
He stopped and turned to face me again. A smile formed on his face. Were those dimples always there?
“Come on. I’m just taking you to a person who can solve your problems.”
“Oh o-okay.”
I followed behind Joaquin towards the front of the grocery store. He stopped in front of the deli section and tapped a hand on the counter to alert the workers.
“Hey~ is Margie in today?” He said sweetly to the teenage girl who could barely see over the huge counter.
“Yeah Curly, she’s in the back. Let me go get her.” She ran to the back and pushed the double doors with force.
I looked at Joaquin with furrowed brows and pursed lips.
“Why do they call you Curly?” A small smirk appeared on my face. He blushed and his hand went to his hair once again.
“My hair. It is how everyone finds me and the fact that I’m tall. Everyone has a nickname here. We are as much a family as capitalism will allow us to be. Margie is just...wait until you see her.”
The shock of blue hair caught my peripheral and I expected to see a teenager. No. A tall lady who was on enough to be my mama strolled up to the counter with a huge smile on her face.
“What can I do for ya, Curly Quin?” Her accent drawled as she leaned against the display case.
“We have a situation. Apparently, I suck at my job and a certain someone had an entire meltdown in the middle of the freezer aisle because they are having a bad day like it was my fault. I’m pretty sure they want to get me fired but I’m too cute for that, right? So we need a solution to their chimichanga problem.” He sarcastically and over exaggeratedly explained the situation to Margie and his smile got wider as he went on.
“So Grilled Cheese over here wants a chimichanga? How is that my problem?” Margie planted her eyes on me and I felt like I swallowed my heart.
For an old lady, her look was intense.
“I need the goods. The family secret, the whole enchilada, you get where I’m going with this. I’ll finally bring you back your book that you let me borrow when I first started working here.” Joaquin slapped on the puppy dog eyes and Margie rolled hers.
“I’ll believe it when I see it. That was a year ago. I’m never getting that book back and you know it. I’ll be back for you and Meltdown over here, assuming that is you.” She gave a small smile and moved to go towards the back doors. “Give me a sec.”
As soon as she disappeared, I face palmed and groaned.
“You guys are going to make fun of me forever, aren’t you?” I looked at him in despair.
“Oh yeah, you know it. Welcome to making history.” He smiled towards me, flashing a dimple.
“Is there a way that I can make everyone forget about this? I will pay you guys off. I promise. Just forget everything that happened here today.” I waved my hands in circular motions like I was casting a spell, earning odd looks from everyone around.
He laughed for the first time that night.
“It’s not every day a grown up has a total fit like a toddler. This has made my day and probably my whole week.”
I groaned again and stomped my foot in annoyance, ready to snap at him.
The back doors flew open and a brown paper bag was thrown in my direction. Joaquin and I fumbled to catch it at the same time and we butted heads.
“Good thing you knocked some sense into each other so I didn’t have to. Get out of here kids, your chimichanga problem is solved.” Margie smiled.
I opened the steaming paper bag and started crying.
“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.” I started bouncing up and down with joy. I wrapped my arms around Joaquin and pulled him into a tight hug, crying on his shirt.
“No problem, I can’t breathe, please..let..go..” He said dramatically.
I immediately let go and cleaned my face putting on a huge smile. He took a deep breath and put his hand on his chest.
“You guys are the best and I am so sorry for taking my frustrations out on you. I really hope you can forgive me at some point.”
“Already forgiven. I just always want to do something positive with my day and make others smile. It’s all in a day’s work.”
“I don’t know how to thank you guys enough for the chimichangas.” I held the bag close to my heart, grinning widely.
“Go home and eat them. That’s thanks enough.” Margie deadpanned.
Oh. She was still there.
“Yes ma’am. Have a good night. Thank you for everything!” I waved goodbye to her.
“Don’t mention it kid.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow Margie!” He said to her.
She waved us off and we were on our way to the front doors of the store. We stopped just before the entrance, triggering the doors to automatically open. We were blocking the exit and people started going around us.
“I guess this is goodbye? Until I come in to restock my freezer again.” I said glumly, holding out my hand towards him to shake his hand.
“I guess so.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, placing it in my hand.
Question marks filled my brain as I looked down at his phone in my hand. He shyly placed his hand on the back of his neck.
“I told you whenever we restocked, I would give you a call so.. I would need your number for that.”
“Oh. But they already have my numb- Oh. Okay. Oh. Oh um, of course uh..”
I stuck my tongue out in concentration as I typed my name and number into his phone and handed it back to him.
“There you go. I uh, look forward to your call for whenever the chimichangas are back in stock.”
“Of course. I’m just doing my job. If they aren’t in stock and I’m off of work, can I still call you?”
My brain short circuited and I blinked rapidly at him. He was smooth. Toooo smooth. I studied his face for a joke.
“You aren’t joking with me, are you?” I put my hands on my hips.
“Nope, not one bit. Are you okay?” He questioned. I was sure smoke was coming out of my ears at this point.
“Uh, yeah. I’m fine. Just tired, it’s been a long day. I should get going.” I looked off towards the cars in the parking lot.
“It was nice to meet you. I’m sorry about your chimichangas and for my poor stocking skills.” He apologized sincerely.
“It was nice to meet you too, Joaquin. Thank you for everything. Am I allowed to hug you again?”
His brown eyes lit up and he furiously nodded. I wrapped my arms around him and he did the same to me. We let go as quickly as we started.
“I’ll see you around, Grilled Cheese.” He gave a two finger wave towards me and started walking backwards.
“Likewise, Joaquin Phoenix.” I started walking in the other direction.
“Haha. So original! It’s actually Falcon!” He shouted.
“What?” I stopped and turned back towards him but he was already gone.
I shrugged and walked towards my car. I opened the door and climbed inside, tossed the bag of chimichangas in the passenger seat and rested my head on the steering wheel. I released a huge sigh while lifting my head, started my car and began driving home. The street lights blurred past me on my drive home. My body was on autopilot as I opened the door, kicked my shoes off and sat on the couch next to my roommate with my bag of chimichangas.
I took a bite and immediately frowned.
‘Damn it. Steak and Cheese strikes again.’ I started laughing and shaking my head, dropping the chimichanga back in the bag.
“What is your problem?” My roommate said staring at the tv, not concerned to turn their head towards my hysterics.
“Nothing. I just had a meltdown in a freezer aisle and I think I fell in love with a stocker who is bad at his job.” I leaned back against the cushion of the couch and sighed dreamily.
“....no offense but you aren’t allowed to go to the store unsupervised ever again. You got issues...”
My phone began to ring and I just stared at the unknown number before answering.
“H-hello?” I stuttered.
“You will never guess what we just got in stock.” A light voice filled with laughter said over the phone. A huge smile formed on my face and I was booking it out of the door and yelled a quick bye to my roommate.
“I’m on my way.”
I hope you guys enjoyed this. I tried my best :)

Your dogs fall in love first.
2.2k
TW for mentions of a minor injury
The week after you move into your new place, you find a good dog park to take Bloom to. She's been barking like a mad woman, letting you know that she's done trying to watch you unpack your stuff. She wants out.
"Okay, girl!" You laugh, gently pushing her down. You made the mistake of taking her leash out in front of her, so now there's no turning back. You clip it to her collar, scratching behind her ears as her tail thumps on the ground. "Let’s go find that dog park, huh?
The walk doesn't take long. Bloom is kind of terrible on leashes though, so you're pretty sure she's walked a couple more miles than you have because of how much she's weaving around. You're still hoping that she'll settle down a bit as she gets over, even if her energy and spirit never fail to make you smile. It sounds cliche and maybe a little dumb, but you really don't know what you'd do without her.
Once you get to the park, you take her leash off, nudging her gently so that she'll run off. She bounds off, running to the biggest group of dogs. They welcome her gladly, all sniffing each other's butts. You scoff and find a bench to settle down on, pulling out the paperback you brought with you. It's easy to relax here, even if the dogs are loud and it smells a little strange. Bloom is happy, you're happy, and the sun is shining.
--
You start taking her every weekend. There are certain dogs she seems to get along with more, other regulars. Soon, you start matching dogs to people. One in particular stands out. He's absolutely gorgeous and you're pretty sure the dog that's obsessed with Bloom belongs to him, not that you've worked up the courage to go talk to him. You don't even know what you'd say.
Of course, that changes the day said dog decides to tackle you to the ground.
It's an accident. You know it is. The dog tries to go for Bloom, but a slip means she slams full force into you.
"Oh," you groan, putting your hands above your head. Both dogs are trying to kick your face.
"Roxy!" You hear a man shout. Before you know it, the dogs are replaced by the cute man you've been eyeing. "Are you okay?"
You nod, shifting your weight in an attempt to stand up. The man offers a hand, which you take gratefully. "Strong dog."
He laughs a little, but you can see concern on his face. "Yeah, Roxy's a tough girl. Are you sure you're okay? You went down pretty hard."
"I'm fine, promise," you laugh, running your hand through your hair. Bloom's pressed close to you, nosing at your leg. You scratch behind her ear. "I'm okay, girlie."
"What's her name?"
"Bloom."
The man smiles. "This is Roxy."
"Hi, Roxy!" You pet her, leaning down to let her lick your face. "Please don't try to murder me again."
Before you can ask the man's name, his phone starts blaring. You've never heard a ringtone so loud, noting that a few other people looking over as he answers his phone. His face closes off as he answers. To you, he seems like a completely different guy in less than a second.
"Okay, I'll be there ASAP," he says, hanging up. "Sorry," he looks back at you. "I have to run. Work. C'mon, girl."
And with that, the mysterious cute guy is gone.
You go back to petting Bloom. "I'm turning into an old spinster," you whisper to her like you were sharing a big secret. She just licks your face.
--
You don't see Roxy or her owner for almost two weeks. When they show back up, the man looks beyond exhausted, settling down on a bench and folding his legs under himself. In a moment of boldness, you go up to him.
"Is it okay if I sit here?" You gesture to Bloom and Roxy, who have already found each other. "I should probably get to know you. Looks like our dogs are dating."
He startles, making a wave of guilt rush through you. You're a little reassured by the way his face brightens when he looks at you. "Of course."
"I didn't get your name last time."
"Oh! I'm Luke. You?"
"Y/N," you tell him, settling down on the bench. The two of you watch your dogs run around together. "Roxy seems like a sweetheart."
There's not a single person on planet earth that doesn't love it when you compliment their dog. Luke isn't any kind of exception. "She is! I'm glad you're not holding it against her that she slammed into you."
You shrug. "She saw Bloom and got excited. Happens. God knows Bloom has taken me out on more than one occasion."
"Roxy loves her. She isn't usually the most social dog on the planet, you know? Like father like daughter."
"You're both being pretty social right now," you point out, making him laugh.
"You got me there. Maybe you two are just special."
A blush spreads across your face. It's stupid, but you can't really help it. "Bloom is definitely special. Is it lame if my dog is my best friend?"
Luke shakes his head. "Nah Roxy's my best friend. Got her after I was discharged."
"Military?"
"I served in Iraq, yeah."
You whistle. "Damn."
Unexpectedly, his response makes you snort. Your brow furrows. "What?"
"People usually thank me for my service. I don't think I've heard "damn" before."
"Oh!" You feel like a bit of an idiot. "Oh, was that like, super insensitive of me?"
"It's kind of refreshing, honestly," he shrugs. "Maybe don't go around saying that to everyone who served, though."
"Noted."
--
Luke and Roxy disappear again. It's probably not a big deal, and you're definitely dramatic for worrying. It isn't like you know his schedule, so you don't actually know how much he goes to the park. You don't know anything about what he does outside of taking his dog here, either. Bloom always seems a little sad when Roxy's not around to play with.
"Your girlfriend isn't here, huh?" You ask Bloom, letting her rest her head against your leg. She's getting tired, making you gather your stuff up to head back home.
As you stand up, you hear a voice calling your name. Bloom goes sprinting off, suddenly getting a bunch of energy. You look over and make eye contact with Luke, who's walking towards you.
"Hey!" You greet him. "Haven't seen you in a few days."
"Work." He looks between you and the bench you just vacated, his face doing something you can't quite place. "Are you leaving?"
"Bloom seemed sleepy, but I think Roxy showing up changed that."
The two of you settle down. "I don't even know what your job is."
Luke grimaces. "Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI."
You can feel your eyes widen. "Holy shit."
At least that makes him laugh.
"You hunt serial killers, then? Sounds super safe and not at all time consuming."
You end up talking for a long time. It isn't until Bloom and Roxy come back to you that you notice the sun is starting to set. Luke looks just as startles as you.
As you pack up your things, you feel a gentle hand land on your arm. "Hey," Luke says softly. "Is it okay if I ask for your number?"
You grin.
--
Insomnia hits you hard a week later. It's been over two days since you've slept for more than an hour at a time. Bloom keeps whining, obviously aware that you weren't acting right. She settles down on the bed next to you, her head resting on your chest.
"Sorry we can't go anywhere, sweetie," you whisper as you pet her. "I can barely even function enough to go to work."
She licks your face.
--
As you're staring at the ceiling for the millionth hour, your phone starts vibrating on the table next to you.
"Hello?" You answer without looking at the screen.
"Y/N?"
Oh shit. "Luke?"
He sounds nervous. "I hope it's okay that I'm calling. You just- Roxy misses Bloom."
"Too tired."
"What?"
You belatedly realize that you should probably try making sense. "Sorry. Insomnia is really bad. Too tired for the park."
"Aw, Y/N. Is there anything I can do to help?"
You shake your head no before actually saying the word into the phone.
--
Bloom is ecstatic the next time you take her to the park. She drags you through the fence and you practically have to tackle her to get her leash off.
"I would have offered to help, but you looked kind of cute." You look up to see a smiling Luke. He grabs your hand to help you straighten up. "You're a little dusty now."
You snort, brushing off your shirt. "I guess you were just here for moral support, then?"
He nods. His face sobers a bit, ducking his head so he can look you in the eyes. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine."
"Come on. You sure?"
"Yeah. I got a full ten hours of sleep last night," you say, resisting the urge to wrap your arms around him and snuggle into his chest. You don’t know what's wrong with you. Before, you figured that as you got to know Luke, you'd lose interest. It's what usually happened when you started talking to a guy. You weren't sick of Luke, though. Actually, your heart was racing.
His smile comes back. "Good! Roxy and I missed you guys."
--
You're asleep when the phone rings. "What the hell?" You ask, groggy. "It's like, 3am. The devil’s hour."
Whoever is on the other end pauses, the breaks out into laughter. It's a woman. "You didn't say she was funny!"
There's a rustle on the other end of the line, and you think you can hear the woman swear. "She has insomnia!" You can hear someone talking faintly in the background. Even if your brain is fuzzy, you can recognize Luke's voice. "You can't call her so late! Or at all!" Another pause, then his voice is louder. "Y/N, I'm so sorry about that."
"What's happening right now?"
"The team is out drinking. Garcia thought it'd be funny to grab my phone. No clue how she got my password."
"Why'd she call me?"
Luke sputters. You wish you could see his face. "I've just talked about you. And Bloom! They know Roxy made a friend."
More yelling in the background. The line disconnects shortly after, making you snort.
You just go back to sleep.
--
His face is bright red the next time you see him. Just like always, Bloom and Roxy go off on their own. You slide up next to Luke.
"So," you start. "Were you hungover on Saturday?"
He groans.
--
"You're limping!" You cry, running toward Luke and putting your hands on his shoulders. Roxy's at his side, so you unclip her before moving back to Luke. "What happened?"
"Hey, hey," he tries to soothe you, because he is a ridiculous man who is trying to comfort someone while he's injured. "It's just my leg."
"Sit down!"
You walk with him over to the nearest table, holding his hand as he gets himself situated.
He doesn't let go of your hand like you thought he would. Instead, he squeezes it. "I got grazed. It'll be sore as hell for a few days, but I promise I'll be as good as new." He reaches forward with his free hand to brush the hair from your face. Your heart freezes, but he doesn't seem to notice. He just looks soft. "I'm sorry for worrying you."
"Not forgiven," you grumble.
--
After you've known Luke for a couple months, you decide to start walking Bloom and Roxy together.
"I think they're in love," you tell Luke, watching Roxy as she kisses Bloom. "I'll start getting ready for their wedding."
Luke snorts. "This is definitely the most attached Roxy's ever gotten to another dog."
"Same with Bloom."
It's nice, walking around with Luke. He's sweet, he's funny, and you can tell that he cares about you, even though you don't know if it's platonic or romantic. Either way, you know how you feel about him. It's almost enough to scare you off, but you've planted your feet in the ground next to him. You aren't going anywhere.
"I don't really connect with people, either," Luke says suddenly, looking over at you. "So I'm glad that you met you, Y/N."
You feel warmth spread over you. "Oh. Thank you. You're not too bad, you know." You knock your shoulder against him, smiling when you manage to make him stumble. Luke is a sturdy guy. Huge muscles. You wonder how easily he could lift you, how easily he could envelop you. "How's your leg, by the way?"
"Good!" He nods. "It's all better by now."
Once the walk is over, you agree to his suggestion to do it next week, as long as Luke isn't on a case.
--
"Should I ask him out?" You ask Bloom, who wags her tail in response. "Is that a yes? I don't speak dog. You're not being super helpful."
She just stares at you.
--
Before you can ask Luke out, he asks you out while you're walking the dogs.
"Hey, Y/N." You note that he sounds nervous, his usual demenor gone. "I have something I want to ask you."
"Yeah?"
After a moment of hesitation, he continues. "Do you want to go on a date with him?"
You smile widely enough to break your face. "I'd love to."

“I like your hair loopies.” The voice made her jump and throw the water she had been trying to bend from the pond at its source behind her. “Hey!”
Kena turned and saw a young boy about her age in red silk pajamas now soaked in water. His long black hair hung limply around his face, dripping. “Tui’s gills, you scared me! You can’t just sneak up on people like that!”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“It’s okay. I’m sorry I splashed you.”
“It’s okay.” He shook his head, throwing water droplets everywhere. They both giggled.
“I can try to help, but I’m not very good yet. Here.” She waved her arms and hands in a waterbending stance, drawing water out of his clothes and hair. She pulled some out and discarded it back into the pond, but the poor boy was definitely still wet. “Sorry,” she said sheepishly, dropping her hands.
“That was so cool! I’ve always wanted to see waterbending in person.” His face lit up, golden eyes sparkling. She blushed and looked at her feet. “Sometimes I wish I was a waterbender. But what are you doing here?”
Her face was dark when she looked up at him again. “The Fire Nation invaded my village and took me and my mom as prisoners because we’re healers. She tells me we’re lucky to be alive since they’ve been wiping out waterbenders. I don’t know, though; I think I’d rather be dead than be a servant for some snooty royal.” She aimed a kick at a small pebble and launched it into the pond. “Now I’ll probably never see my dad, or my brothers, or my friends ever again.”
“Oh,” the boy said meekly, looking away. “I’m sorry that happened.” He didn’t know what to say to the girl.
“Yeah, me too,” she grumbled. There was silence for a moment before the boy smiled hesitantly again.
“I’ll be your friend here, if you’d like.”
The tension in her small body loosened when she slowly grinned at him. “Yeah, I think I’d like that. You seem alright, for a Fire Nation kid.”
“Thanks, I think,” he laughed. “What’s your name?”
“Kena. Well, that’s my real name. When they brought us here some weird guy told me my new name would be Ariye.”
“I like Kena better for you.”
“Me too. Ariye is a dumb name. I told him that but he got mad. What’s yours?”
“Oh, I’m-“ he started, flushing, then paused and looked behind him. “Someone’s coming. Go, hide!”
“What about you? Won’t you get in trouble?”
“No, no! It’s fine! Just go!” He shooed her away and she finally complied, diving into a patch of brush just as someone rounded the corner in the distance. She was about to make her escape when she paused to listen in.
“Prince Zuko,” a woman’s voice chided, “why are you out of bed so late?”
Wait, Prince Zuko? He’s a prince?
“I couldn’t sleep so I came out to see the turtleducks,” Zuko said. It wasn’t entirely a lie, after all — that had been his intention.
“Why are you all wet?”
“I... slipped, and fell in the water.”
The woman sighed. “Prince Zuko, you must be more careful. Come along, let’s get you cleaned up and into bed.” Kena slipped away as her voice got fainter and eventually disappeared from earshot. She felt incredibly stupid for going on and on about the invasion and how much she disliked being here to the prince of all people. She was surely in for it now. Her mother had always said her mouth would get her into trouble if she didn’t control it. A glimmer of hope rose in her chest, though, because Zuko had seemed really... well, nice. He didn’t rat her out or get upset when she spoke poorly of royals even though he apparently was one. Maybe not all the people of the Fire Nation were so bad... just most of them.
The next night, Zuko snuck back out to the turtleduck pond in the hopes of seeing the girl again. He was absolutely fascinated by her — she was probably the only person he knew who wasn’t, as she had said, “some snooty royal,” or someone who worked for one. That, and she was definitely the only waterbender he knew. He loitered in the grass for a long time before giving up and going back to bed. This cycle repeated for a week with no luck. Kena had said her and her mother were healers, so maybe he’d be able to find her in the infirmary. Now, just to come up with some sort of excuse to go there...
Kena nearly felt like dropping dead when a familiar boy walked into the infirmary, escorted by a servant. His eyes brimmed with tears and he was sniffling softly, holding one hand in the other delicately. Reluctantly and with her face burning, she bowed with her mother.
“Prince Zuko, what happened?” the older woman asked, leading him to sit on a cot in the corner of the room.
“Azula b-burned my hand,” Zuko whimpered, showing her his reddened skin. Kena’s mother tutted and waved her daughter over.
“Prince Zuko, this is my daughter, Ariye,” the woman said, smiling as she smoothed Kena’s hair. Kena bowed again, mostly to avoid looking directly at him.
“Nice to meet you.” Zuko beamed and she nodded stiffly, looking at a spot on the wall above his shoulder.
“You as well, Prince Zuko,” she responded quietly. “Do you need anything, Mom?”
“Yes. Can you get the burn salve while I heal what I can, my love?” Kena nodded again and scurried away as soon as she had the excuse. Zuko watched her as she searched cabinets at the other end of the room, snapping his eyes down to his hand when he felt the cool wetness of water against his skin. Kena’s mom was holding his hand with both her own, bending water around his seared flesh. His mouth dropped open a bit when the water started to glow. After a few moments, Kena’s mom pulled her hands back and bent the water away as the girl returned with a small tin in her grasp. He frowned when she still refused to look at him directly.
“Thank you, my dear,” her mother said. “Can you put some on the prince’s hand while I talk to Miss Sana?” She tilted her head to indicate the servant that had brought Zuko in who was standing on the other side of the bed he sat in.
“Yes, Mom.” Kena sat on the bed across from him as her mother stood and walked away with Sana. Zuko grinned again once he was certain the adults were out of immediate earshot.
“Hi, Kena,” he said, waving at her with his injured hand. It was no longer a blistering red, but the skin was still a bit stiff and dry. The salve would help with that, he assumed.
She furrowed her brow. “Why are you here?”
“I wanted to see you again. I waited by the pond in the gardens for a few nights but you never came back.”
“You did this on purpose?”
“Yep!” he said, obviously proud of his cunning plan. When she rolled her eyes, though, he deflated.
“That was dumb,” she scoffed. Her bluntness shocked him. Nobody ever talked to him, the prince, like that. Well, except Azula. But she was mean to everyone.
“What do you mean?” He looked obviously distressed and even a bit irritated. “I let Azula burn me so I could talk to you again!”
“You should’ve just pretended you felt sick or something,” she said like it was the simplest thing in the world. And really, it was. Zuko felt a bit silly now for all his dramatics.
“Oh,” he said. His cheeks were bright pink. Kena finally gave him a small grin as she gently held his hand, slathering the salve onto his skin. “Your hands are cold.”
“And your hands are warm.”
“Because I’m a firebender.”
“Well, I’m a waterbender.”
He hummed thoughtfully. “I guess that makes sense. It feels nice, though.” They were quiet for a few minutes while Kena delicately massaged in the weird paste. “Can we still be friends?” he asked suddenly. She looked up at him, startled.
“You still want to be friends with me?”
“Uh, yeah. You’re super cool!”
She blushed. “Even though I said that mean stuff about royals and all that?”
“I mean, you weren’t wrong. A lot of people around here are snooty.”
She thought it over for half a second. “Yeah, we can be friends. Like I said before, you’re not so bad, for a Fire Nation kid.” They smiled at each other, and it was settled.

Eat
So I took a while for updating this but I finally uploaded it yesterday. Anyways, here it is! (If you have Wattpad, please vote and comment on my story)
A full bowl of cat food looked back at Kai as he picked it up and sighed. She still didn't eat. It's been almost a week, and she still hasn't eaten. The veterinarians said that she might have an eating disorder since there was nothing else wrong with her. That didn't help. Cinder said that the vets were wrong and that she was dying.
Of course, Cinder said this smugly as she pet the gray-haired dog in her lap. Kai looked at Fiona, who was wandering around as a cat does and so skinny you could see her ribs. She drank but didn't eat. The dog started sniffing at Fiona's food, and Kai shooed him away.
Cinder walked in then, her brow furrowed as she read something on her port. She sipped a cup of coffee and set it on the little table in the pet room. She kneeled to rub Drew's fur and scratched him behind the ears, saying, "you're such a good boy" and "I missed you," the same way one would coo a baby.
Then, "Hey Kai." That's it. Not that he was jealous of a dog or anything.
"She still hasn't eaten," he grumbled and picked up the bowl again.
"Aw, maybe she realized that canned food is disgusting and reserved to eat out in the wild. Like catching birds and stuff, " she went to go sit on the big brown sofa, and Kai followed.
"No, Fiona's not a savage."
"She bit me once. Like a savage cat. Stars, I hate her."
"Drew scratched me once, but you don't see me calling him a savage dog! Besides, what are you're deal with cats anyways?"
"Nothing, it's just that cat," she wrinkled her nose in distaste.
"She's a wonderful cat," Kai paused before continuing, "maybe we shouldn't have gotten pets in the first place."
"We didn't have a choice," Cinder looked darkly at the window as if recollecting. He started to remember too. They were visiting Thorne and Cress at the Rampion, and while Cress went to go pick up food, Thorne managed to steal them for a hot second.
He called it: Captain Thorne's Marriage Counseling, even though Kai and Cinder didn't need it at all. Then he said that they should get pets, and immediately Kai said hamster. Thorne nodded, and the next time they met, he had a dog and a cat.
Kai immediately got in well with the cat and named it Fiona. She was a proud and stubborn cat with a sarcastic aura. She kind of reminded him of Cinder.
Cinder chose the dog and named it Drew. And that dog was so annoying. It always wanted attention and only enjoyed Cinder. It gets depressed whenever she was gone, and it got on Kai's nerves every single time. It was also stupid in a cute way; it would bump into a wall, but it was still adorable.
Also, to make matters worse, Cinder gave the dog attention. She had trained him to be depressed whenever she wasn't around and is now super attached to her. Whenever Kai tried to be romantic with Cinder, he was there. Whenever Kai wanted to get Cinder alone, he was there. Whenever Kai wanted to tell her something important, Drew was there. The dog was everywhere.
But, again, Kai wasn't jealous of the dog. Drew's just a dog. He couldn't steal Cinder from Kai's hands and run away to someplace exotic and get married. Right?
"Here, Drew, you wanna play fetch? I know you do," She said, waving a rope around. The dog yelped, and she threw the rope across the room and onto the couches. Drew jumped onto the leather couch and grabbed the toy violently. Then he jumped off and climbed in Cinder's lap, leaving the sofa tilted and the rug flipped.
Kai grumbled and went to fix the rug and couch. Also, the dog was messy.
"Still, this is a problem. We have to find out why Fiona is not eating."
"I'm sure she's going to be fine, " Fiona came out of her hiding place and prowled the couch Cinder was sitting in. She sneezed and brought her warmth to cover her mouth. Drew winced and placed his head in her lap.
"But-"
"You're going to the vet tomorrow, and maybe they might figure out what's wrong with her, " she sneezed again, and Kai began to worry.
"Are you alright?" he asked tenderly.
"Yeah, I might go to the med wing to find out why I can't shake this cold."
"Are you allergic? To cats?"
"No- there was a cat in my old apartment, and nothing ever happened. I'm sure I'm fine, " Cinder smiled her heavenly smile and got up, "we'll I have to look over a few documents, and I'll see you later, okay?"
He nodded. She pecked his cheek and walked away. Drew sighed and flopped on the floor, and stared at the doorway Cinder walked out of.
"Oh, get over it. You'll see her later, " Drew ignored him. He sighed and decided to take Fiona to the vet a day early. She needed to eat as soon as possible.
✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩ (Cinder's POV)
Stupid cat. Stupid, crazy, irritating, always-in-the-way cat.
It wasn't Cinders fault that Fiona attacked her. It was self-defense! She didn't mean to shoot Kai's pet!
Cinder remembered trying to bond with Fiona when it downright attacked her. She brought her metal hand out, and the next thing she knew was seeing the black cat on the ground with a tranquilizer dart in the stomach.
She ran to the veterinarian as quickly as possible and gave it to vets there. They took care of her, and due to the medicine they gave Fiona, the cat might not eat for about a week. Cinder told them if her husband came by with Fiona, please say to him that nothing is wrong. Then she left.
With the stupid cat, she tranquilized in her arms.
Stars, Cinder hated Fiona. She would always pounce around the palace like she was the empress instead. And when she was around Kai, she would demand attention from him and stand proud as she deserved it.
But Drew, on the other hand, was the animal embodiment of Kai. He was dorky, cute, attention-seeking, and so easy to forgive.
But Kai loathed Drew, and Cinder couldn't understand why. They were like twins!
A sudden headache overtook Cinder, and she put a hand on the wall. The pain grew until she had to stop and grit her teeth. The headache disappeared as can't as it came, and she suddenly felt nauseous.
Gulping, she made her way to the elevator and asked the android operating it to head to the medical floor. She got inside and placed her cool metal hand on her forehead.
Once the doors opened, Cinder stumbled, and some people in white lab coats looked at her skeptically.
She made her way into the labyrinth known as the medical wing. The scent of multiple cleaning agents welcomed her.
When she finally made it to her doctor's office, she knocked and received a soft smile.
"Ambassador Linh-Blackburn, I wasn't expecting you, but still a pleasure, " the doctor said. She was shorter than Cinder and had a pageboy haircut. Her hair was onyx black and had striking red lips and bright green eyes.
"Good afternoon Doctor Zhao. I am sorry for not scheduling an appointment earlier; I think I have a virus of sorts. Do you have any extra time today for a check-up?"
"Of course, Ambassador Linh."
✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯ (Kai's POV)
Cinder Please come to my room ASAP.
It was surprisingly hard carrying a cat and reading your port. Kai just came back from the vet and got unexpected results.
First, it was a new vet that checked on Fiona. Second, the vet accidentally revealed that Cinder had visited them this week with Fiona before she stopped eating. Third, the vet stopped talking suddenly and said that Fiona should be perfectly fine any time now.
Kai got a little suspicious.
Now Cinder just asked him to come to his room as soon as possible. He had a difficult decision to make. Either drop off Fiona in the 'pet room' that was actually a deserted closet they found near his office, or go to her room and take the cat with him.
The room was closer to him, and he was worried about Cinder, so Kai chose option two.
Once he got there, he rapped on the door and heard his fiancee welcoming him in.
"Hey, love, what's wrong?" he asked softly. He closed the door behind him and Cinder bundled up in the bed. Her voice was unusually raspy which Kai to be even more concerned.
"I have been diagnosed with a virus that's been going around the castle and I have a confession to make, " she bit her lip and fiddled with the beige blanket, "I truly am sorry in advance for what I'm about to say-"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, you're sick?! Why haven't you told me earlier?" she gave him a look for cutting her off but then saw Fiona and looked away as if ashamed. He dropped the cat and made his way towards the bed.
"Get back, I don't want you to get sick too, " Cinder thrust her hands up as Kai laid down next to her and moved the thin blanket higher up. She sighed in defeat, "I just found out today. Remember when I told you I was going to get myself checked out?" he nodded, "apparently there's some sort of virus and a lot of people went home because of it, and now I have it. Symptoms are nausea, headaches, vomiting, fever etcetera."
"Sounds fun, " she rolled her eyes. Kai brought her head to his chest and began to stroke it, "we'll get through it together."
Cinder snorted, "that was incredibly cheesy."
"I'm serious. I'd rather suffer with you than just watching you suffer alone." He kissed her hair, "what about the confession you were going to tell me."
She tensed, then pulled away from Kai. Waited for two, three heartbeats before continuing, "It's about Fiona, " she fiddled with the blanket again.
"What about her?" she gave him a 'are you serious?' look.
"Her diet? Remember she hasn't been eating all week?"
"The vet said that she'll get better any day now."
"No, I have to tell you why and how she stopped eating, " Cinder sighed.
When he didn't respond, she continued: "I was petting Fiona one day and then she downright attacked me and scratched my metal hand. I freaked out because I wasn't expecting that and I accidentally... shot her, " she moaned and brought the blanket to her head, "ugh these headaches, sorry. And I am very sorry for shooting your cat."
Her voice came to a whisper as if she was losing confidence with every line. Kai didn't know what to do at first, but then when she moaned in pain, his first instinct was to hold her and comfort her. But instead, he sat still as stone and could barely feel Cinders body against his.
"I know that you have every right to be mad and yell at me, but in my defense, she attacked me and it was simply, uh, self-defense, " she rambled, "b-but still, I should've controlled myself before shooting her, and I really am sorry Kai, and-" he covered her mouth with his hands and stared into her beautiful brown eyes. The same ones that happened to be synthetic, but still wonderfully stunning. Like her. Cinder may have some flaws (not her metal parts, obviously, those are perfect) but she still manages to make life wonderful. And she was stunning herself too.
"K-kai?" she asked after tenderly taking his hand in hers in her lap. He looked down at the hand that was holding his and brought the hard metal surface to his lips. He could feel her tense but ignored it.
"I forgive you, " he said with a smirk. Her wonderfully stunning eyes swelled with relief, "she 'attacked' you? And it was 'self-defense?"
"It was!"
They laughed in unison and their heads touched. They at there for a while, just enjoying each other's company.
She shifted and placed her head in his chest once again. "Hey Kai?"
"Hmm?"
"Thanks."
"For what?"
"For being an understanding boyfriend."
"Fiancée, " Kai corrected.
"Fiancée, " she coughed and shivered right after.
"I love you Cinder."
"I love you too Kai."
I'm so sorry for taking so long on this story, but I'm making a part 2 sometime later. Please forgive me, I need some extra inspiration on this.
*hint for part 2* remember the symptoms for the virus and Cinder randomly sneezing when Fiona was around.
Have a great day! -Angie

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bucky glanced down at your sleeping form. You looked angelic; hair spayed on the pillow around your head, legs tucked up towards your chest and arm leaning towards Bucky’s side of the bed where he should have been sleeping. Steve had rung during the early hours of the morning with an urgent mission.  He was disappointed that he couldn’t stay in the bed with his arms around your body and your heat pressed against him. He leant gently on the bed, careful not to wake you and placed a soft kiss your forehead. Your eyes gave a gently flutter in response but remained closed. “Love you Y/N” he whispered in your ear as he stood back up. He took one fleeting look at you, watching as you rolled over to face where he should have been, and shut the door softly behind him.
Bucky’s side of the mattress felt cold beneath your fingertips. There was no noise from the bathroom so he wasn’t there, and you couldn’t hear him moving around the lounge area. You sat up and stretched your arms above your head and glanced around the room looking for any sign of Bucky. It didn’t take you long to spot the note he had left behind.
Sorry Y/N. Emergency mission. Will be back later today. Love you, B xxx
You pulled on one of Bucky’s hoodies, pulled it around you face, breathing in the comforting smell. Bucky often had to disappear for missions last minute so were used to it but you couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Damn the world for taking him away from you today, especially since he had only just come back from a month-long mission. It wasn’t as if you had massive plans but you had both agreed to spend the day doing some baking, watching trash tv and generally vegging out in each other’s company. But it wasn’t to be.
Sam was the kitchen cooking when you walked in. “Hey Y/N” You were about to speak when the nausea hit you. You bolted back towards yours and Bucky’s room, only just making it to the bathroom in time to be sick. After brushing your teeth and splashing some cold water on your face, you heard your phone ringing in the bedroom. It was Sam checking up on you. “There’s still some bacon left if you want it” At even the mention bacon the thought of the smell made your stomach turned and you had to dash back to the toilet. As you swept your hair out of the way, your phone slipped out of your hand and clattered to the floor and smashed. You didn’t have time to react as you promptly vomited again.
Afterwards you sat, back against the cool tiles on the wall and your head resting between your knees. This day could not get any worse; Bucky was gone, you had been sick twice already and your phone was a lost cause. The sickness was becoming a familiar thing at the moment, you had been sick once or twice a day for the last couple of weeks, you hadn’t told anyone assuming it was just some tummy bug. You certainly didn’t want to worry Bucky, he was overprotective at the best of times. What could it be? You did some quick maths in your head, after you counted back you paused. Shit. You counted again just to be sure. Definitely shit. “FRIDAY, can you tell Bruce that I will be in the medbay in 10minutes?” The AI gave you confirmation and you got to your feet and quickly glanced at your appearance in the mirror.  Taking a deep breath, you pulled your hair up into a messy bun and grabbed a quick drink of water before heading up to see Bruce.
As soon as Bruce had told you the panic had really set in. You had walked back to the living quarters that you and Bucky shared, not really looking at where you were going, just letting your feet guide you. When the door closed behind you, you paced up and down going through everything in your head. The biggest worry was Bucky. What was he going to say? How was he going to react? Was this even something he wanted? Hell, you didn’t even know what to think. You were still confused as to how exactly it had happened, you had been careful. Eventually you realised you needed to calm down, it wouldn’t do anybody any good. So, you kept yourself busy, you tidied and cleaned the flat and after a shower managed to cook something for lunch without vomiting.
“Miss Y/N, Captain Rogers and Sergeant Barnes have just landed.” You put down the Lee Child book you were reading on the coffee table and nervously ringed your hands on your lap, waiting for Bucky to arrive. As soon as the door opened, his blue eyes searched for yours and he let out a grin as he spotted you and strode towards you. You met him half way and wrapped your arms around him and pressed your face against the muscles of his chest. He kissed the top of your head. “Hey Y/N, I missed you”. You tilted your head up to his and pressed a soft kiss against his lips “I missed you too.” Stepping back, you bit your lip and frowned slightly, suddenly you were really anxious again. Bucky surveyed the change and his brows knitted together with concern. “Something’s up. What is it?” Your head dropped, you had been dreading this moment. “I think you should sit down Buck.” Bucky’s face fell, he didn’t question the instruction and he walked slowly to the sofa and sat down. “Doll, you’re worrying me now. What’s happened?”
“I don’t really know how to tell you Buck…In fact I don’t know how it happened. We were always so carful. Bruce reckons it is to do with the serum.” You still weren’t looking at Bucky, but staring at the floor. Bucky ran his hands through his hair, his mind working in overdrive. “Y/N are you hurt. I have hurt you?” His voice was shaking slightly at that prospect. This made your eyes snap to his and you walked closer to him and took his hands in yours. “No, I’m not hurt. You could never do anything to hurt me.” Bucky opened his mouth to start arguing about that but you cut him off. “Bucky, I’m, um, pregnant.” Bucky’s grip tightened on your hands “you’re what?” He stood up now and waited patiently for you to reply. “I’m pregnant” you repeated quietly. Bucky dropped your hands, you were certain he was going to move away from you but instead his hands cupped your face and gently grazed his thumb along your cheekbones. His blue eyes were filled with tears. There was no hint of disappointment, regret or anger only happiness. “I love you Y/N, you’re my family. We’re a family now.” One of his hands fell to your stomach and rested there. Bucky started to laugh and hot tears started to roll down your face. “You’re not mad?” Bucky scoffed “Mad, are you kidding. It’s a surprise but the best surprise ever. I’m going to be a Dad.” He wiped away your tears and captured you lips with his in the most tender kiss.
Later that night you were curled up with your back to Bucky’s chest. His arm wrapped around you, his hand splayed against your stomach. “I still can’t believe this happened” Bucky pressed a kiss to your shoulder “So what exactly did Bruce say.” Your hand rested on Bucky’s. “So, he said that because of the serum, my pill didn’t stand a chance. I’m about 3 months pregnant.” Bucky chuckled “What you are really trying to say is that I have my own little super soldiers?” You kicked him, he feigned an injury and you couldn’t help but laugh, knowing that nothing you could do would ever really hurt him. “I guess so.” You yawned. “You just get some rest doll.” You nodded. Bucky whispered “I love you Y/N” he shifted and placed a delicate kiss on your stomach “I love you too” he cooed. You smiled as you closed your eyes, your fingers still laced with Bucky’s. This day had definitely turned out better than you thought.

When Vicky Needed Honey
(An OC Kiss Week collaboration between @super-unpredictable98 and @misskittysmagicportal. No warnings, just mother/daughter love. Moonwalkers/The Umbrella Academy AU)
Tumblr media
I woke up with that weird feeling again. I looked over at Klaus, still pretty much asleep, and grunted. On my way to the bathroom I prayed and prayed, but no luck. My period was nowhere to be found. A couple of days, I can understand, an entire week is a bit more worrying.
The last few days I've been feeling kinda sick, but it could be stress. I've been feeling kinda tired, understandable after two apocalypses. I've been feeling a little dizzy, which could easily be from the time travel... But my period wouldn't come, so that was starting to freak me out.
"Hey, Vanya... Would you buy a pregnancy test for me?" I rehearsed in front of the mirror. "No, no, I should ask Allison. She has a daughter, she'd understand, right?"
I nearly jumped when Klaus shifted in his sleep, I hoped with all my might he didn't hear what I just said. I sat on the edge of the tub and let my head roll back. How the fuck did we let that happen? We always wear a condom!
Well, technically a condom has 98% of effectiveness, according to the box, which I was reading as I thought about it. That means... 2 out of 100 women will get pregnant. With the amount of sex we have, it wouldn't be surprising that I could become part of this 2%. Damn it, Klaus! Why do you have to be so charming? Blame it on three decades of suppressed desire I guess.
I had to talk to someone, someone who wouldn't judge me, someone I could trust. There was only one person I could think of, so I went back into the room and as silently as possible, I slid the black briefcase from under our bed. The date was already set, so all I had to do was open it.
I felt that familiar pull of time travel, that endless rope that dragged me across the universe, which seemed to take forever, even though it was less than a second. As soon as I landed, I regretted it, my stomach did not like the disturbance and I felt like I was about to throw up.
"Vicky? Are you ok?" I felt a gentle hand on my back and took a few deep breaths before being able to turn back.
"Honey! Thank fucking God you're here! I need to talk to you."
"Is it Klaus? It's Klaus. Oh my god, tell me he's alright"
"Alright, I think we should sit down for this one..."
Honey nodded with a smile and took my hand as we made our way to the couch. I chewed on my bottom lip for a little while, thinking of the best way to say it, but I didn't wanna admit it:
"So, I'm gonna say it and I need you to listen because it's very complex," I started. "I think I'm pregnant, and I feel horrible because I don't want to be. Not that I don't want any kids, I do, in the future. The problem is that we just came out of the second apocalypse, everything is a mess, my family is all over the place. I love Klaus more than anything, so I don't wanna throw this onto him, you know? He's been through so much already!"
"Sweetie..."
"And I'm terrified of not being a good mother, the only mother I ever had was a robot. I love her to bits, but what if all I can give my child is robot-love? I don't even know what it feels like, my birth mom clearly didn't love me, she chose to give me away for money, I understand she wasn't expecting to get pregnant out of the blue, but... I don't understand why she couldn't love me. I feel so selfish and so stupid for letting this happen, and I keep thinking about my biological mom, I'm freaking out here," I started sobbing. "You're the only person I can talk to."
**
Honey began to live for the sound of her “kids” popping by the apartment. She brought the books home with her more often in case Klaus would come by to learn more about himself. Or Luther who really just wanted the tiny woman to hold him the way a robot never could. And Diego who well, was always hitting on her. Allison and Vicky and Vanya helped her feel not so alone.
Yeah, they were her children. They were mostly older than Honey. The discarded. The outcast. Who suffered abuse. They were the bought and sold to a billionaire. They were a magical pregnancy and 43 terrified women, one she would become 15 years from now. Thank God she already knew what one of those felt like.
Honey was checking on Sugar and Sunny as they napped. The large crow with his beak buried in his ebony feathers kept one large yellow eye on them from above. Sunny was enamored with the corvid. Klaus, despite being 35 years older than himself, was deeply jealous.
It was from their room, after hearing a familiar VOIP sound in the living room, that Honey just felt in her body something was wrong. There was an anxiety emanating from Vicky whose back was to her.
“Vicky? Are you ok?” Honey gently touched the woman. She wanted to hug her, but opted for minor affection.
Vicky's expression in response worried Honey. “Is it Klaus? It's Klaus. Oh my god, tell me he's alright.” Her lip started to tremble. For a clone of Leon, Klaus was infused with his mother.
Half an hour later, Honey could only stare slack-jawed over Vicky's guts being spilled all over the couch. So to speak.
Honey took Vicky’s hand and did what her mom would do. What she and Julia found themselves doing with their children. Whether they were full grown men or toddlers. Honey kissed Vicky's hand several times and held it over her heart.
“First of all, I can't speak for your birth mother or the others. I know Klaus told me it was a spontaneous pregnancy. Like BAM! We're suddenly giving birth. For me, even being 45,” Honey shivered dramatically, “I would rather kill Reginald and take you all. But whatever the other women did. That's on them.
“But! If anyone knows about an unexpected pregnancy, it's me. She's asleep in the other room with her brother. I think I realized I was knocked up, I just ignored it until Leon mentioned something about my body being new. We NEVER used protection. Pills in the sixties were for married women only. The fact that we had sex for over a year before anything happened is a freaking miracle.
I took two tests in the flat. Then at the clinic. Just a few weeks before, abortion became legal AND funded by the NHS. I told no one, went and made that woman tell me every single step of the process. I asked how easy the adoption process in the UK is. I wasn't keeping it no matter what.”
Now Honey took both of Vicky’s hands, “You have so many readily available options.” She kissed them both again, “But please just let Klaus know. It's YOUR choice. YOURS. Ultimately, I changed my mind. I had her on my own. Pregnancy, birth, her first six months. I wasn't even on the same continent as Leon. But if my baby would have half his looks, and his way of loving, and even an OUNCE of his heart, Leon deserved to be a dad. I WANTED to have his baby. I don't regret my decision. I don't want to regret yours either. We all love you.”
Honey kissed Vicky's forehead, “I mean I'm your mom now.”
**
I would've started crying if I wasn't already, it felt so good to finally have someone to hold my hand. I can only imagine dad's reaction if I told him I was pregnant with Klaus' baby... It was awesome to not be judged for once.
"I wanna tell him, I'm just scared... If I really am pregnant, I wanna keep it, but what if he doesn't like it? What if he doesn't wanna be a dad?"
My desperate rambling was interrupted by a blue surge of energy right in the middle of the room, that could only mean one thing... Klaus and Five fell from it with a loud thud.
I had to cover my mouth not to scream, my heart nearly jumped out of my chest, but Honey seemed pleased with the new visitors.
"Jesus Vicky... I woke up and you were gone, I was worried!" Klaus squeezed me in a tight hug.
"I told you she was fine, Victoria can handle herself," Five rolled his eyes. "It's not like she can get hurt."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to disappear."
Klaus moved to give Honey a hug as well, she kissed his forehead and urged him to sit down between us.
"I know this face, Scnucki..." Klaus placed his hand on my cheek. "What's wrong?"
I looked over at Honey and she gave me a reassuring nod. With a sigh, I took Klaus' hand, tracing the 'hello' with the tip of my finger.
"Klausie," I tried to muster the courage to say it. "I know the timing might not be the best, things are a little crazy right now, but I think I might be..."
"Might be...?" He stared at me nervously.
"Pregnant."
Klaus' mouth dropped and he widened his eyes. Shit! Shit! He hates it, he wasn't happy. He was gonna leave me right there and then.
"But we always..."
"I know, but apparently condoms are only 98% effective."
"You two really abuse your luck," Five mused.
"Timing isn't great, but if you want to keep it, I'm with you. It's our baby," a smile tugged at Klaus' lips. "And I love you, so..."
"Actually," I got up as fast as I could. "I love you too, but I'm not pregnant. If you guys will excuse me, I gotta go to the toilet, like right now!"
**
Honey watched as Vicky ran off to the bathroom. She was left with a bewildered Klaus, slack jawed over everything that quickly took place. She could only snort as Leon popped up from the same corner Vicky had just flown around. Mouth agape identical to his clone.
“Alright love,” Leon kissed her on the cheek. “Never told me the kids were coming ‘round for a visit.” He eyed up Five, still uncertain of him.
Klaus dramatically planted a fist on his hip, “Im thirty-six.”
“Too right. What's going on? Is Vicky ok she looked barmy.”
“Well we were almost grandparents.”
“GRANDPARENTS?! I'm thirty! Bloody hell I can't keep track of the ten we have now. Can't handle a baby, mate. Not coming from you. No offense.”
“All of it taken,” Klaus quipped.
“Well we don't need to worry about it. Pretty sure Vicky just overwhelmingly got her period. Better luck next time!”
Every single person in the room nearly knocked Honey flat with a loud in unison “NEXT TIME?”
She wouldn't make that mistake again.

Loving and Fighting
An icy cold went through Elijah when quietly opened the door to the intensive care unit and entered the room. It almost seemed as if a black veil was suddenly covering him.
His hands were shaking. It was a long time ago since they had last done it, but now they didn't want to stop. His whole body trembled at the thought of what awaited him.
Her quiet and weak heartbeat was drowned out by the shrill, constant beeping of the heart rate monitor and Elijah swallowed hard. Her heart had always been so strong, always so loud. Its tone had given him strength. But now that he heard it only so weakly, it seemed to have drained his strength.
She was no longer wearing the colorful dress she wore in the afternoon. In the shock room, it had been taken off and exchanged for a drab hospital gown. He could hear the rustling of her blood and his eyes fell on the pronule that she had on her left arm and with which she was given strong pain relievers.
He hadn't noticed that he had stopped. He looked at her closely and when he saw her like this, he felt like he had really failed for the first time in his life.
Slowly, he took a few steps across the room and quickly blinked the tears in his eyes away. He had to be strong now; strong for her.
He sat carefully on the edge of the bed and looked at her. Her face looked cramped and sunken. Her otherwise red lips were dry and pale, as was her skin. The sight frightened him. She looked so weak so ... lifeless.
He cautiously reached for her hand and stroked gentle circles on the back of it hand with his thumb. He timidly heard her heart beating faster and saw her move a little.
"Hey," he said softly as he watched her eyelids start to flicker. It seemed to be an act of strength for her and yet he felt her gently squeeze his hand.
,,You are here."
Her mouth was dry and it was difficult for her to even say a few words at all, but she smiled when she could feel his presence and forced herself to open her eyes slowly. Slowly she turned her head and finally looked at him from cloudy, y/e/c eyes.
"Yes," he replied, and the corners of his mouth also rose a little. ,,I wont leave you."
I can‘t imagine a world with you gone
The music was loud. Way too loud.
The courtyard was illuminated by cool blue and purple lamps. People strolled through the courtyard in extravagant robes, waving their overpriced champagne in their hand and chatting with other important people.
The short version was that Y/N wished to be anywhere else, just not here. Parties had never been her thing and never would be. The only reason she was here was her old student friend Cami, whom she had met during her semester abroad in New York. And now that Y/N had recently moved to New Orleans, Cami hadn't missed the opportunity to let her know about its nightlife. However, she didn’t expect that with “nightlife” she meant such an extravagant party for the super rich.
,, Ow, don’t make that face. Come on, have a drink. "
"I don't make a face," denied Y/N and let her friend give her a glass of champagne. "I just should have known where you were going to take me when I saw the dress."
Y/N looked demonstratively down at herself and looked briefly at the long, burgundy and tight-fitting dress with the slit on the side that flattered her figure. She brushed a strand of her y/ h/c hair from her face, which had loosened itself from the elaborate up-do, and sipped on the expensive but extremely bitter champagne.
"I hope this Klaus is worth it," she grumbled and Cami gave her a warning look.
"It's not because of him," she said a little too quickly and Y/N grinned to herself.
"Of course not," she murmured instead and was left shortly afterwards when her friend had spotted said acquaintance and disappeared.
"No, of course it's not because of him," Y/N said to herself as she looked after her friend and sighed. Looked like she was the one to fil the gap for the time when Klaus wasn't there to keep Cami busy.
Instead, Y/N went looking for the bar and was happy that free drinks appeared to be a high priority for the rich.
"Whiskey on ice, please," she ordered from the bartender, put her half-full champagne glass on the bar and smoothed her dress.
"The same for me, please."
She squinted at what she was doing when she heard a deep male voice only a few yards away. He looked good, even she had to admit that. He was wearing a suit, had one hand casually in his pocket, and was leaning against the bar with the other.
"The champagne does not seem strong enough for you", he noted,, looking over at her.
Y/N looked back and sipped the drink she had just received. "Unfortunately not nearly."
"You don't seem to enjoy the celebrations as much as many others here," he said and now turned completely to her, leaning his side against the counter.
"No, you're right," she agreed, taking another sip of her drink. "I'm afraid I'm playing in a different league than yours."
Y/N had already noticed because of his suit and how it flattered his well-built body that he must be one of those super rich who attended such a party every week.
"You accommodated yourself very well for that," he replied, and Y/N could see the slight twitch of the corners of his mouth as he eyed her from top to bottom and let his eyes slide over her dress. She blushed.
"Thank you, then I did everything right, I guess," she laughed softly and took another sip.
"I'm sure of that," he smiled, taking a quick look around the crowd. ,, But I am curious: Others would commit murders for an invitation. Why don't you ? "
,, I ? Murdering for something like this ? Certainly not,” waved Y/N off. ,, So, the music. It is much too loud and ... inappropriate ? I don’t know.  And the champagne. A bottle probably costs as much as my car, and yet it tastes just like the cheap one from the gas station, which always makes me sick.”
In her heated list she didn’t notice how he listened to her attentively, not taking his eyes off of her and the corners of his mouth rising further with each of her words.
"To be honest, I'd much rather sit in front of my TV in my pajamas and watch some junk. Excuse my directness, but it’s just exactly like that. "
When she finally looked back at him after all, she misinterpreted his grin. ,, Oh my god, I didn't mean to offend you. That was totally rude, that ... "
"It's alright," he calmed her down and took a sip of his whiskey. ,,Everyone has their own opinion. I am not a friend of big celebrations myself, my brother sees it differently. But from time to time those are necessary. "
Y/N nodded, she understood. In today's world, splendid parties weren’t only there for fun, but also to make new contacts or maybe find and convince trading partners.
"I am Elijah."
Her eyes darted back to him and he could see the y/e/c flashing briefly. She gave him a bright smile and took his hand. "Y/N, it’s nice to meet you, Elijah."
"The pleasure is mine."
He also smiled sincerely at her and Y/N actually got a little dizzy. Well, the man in front of her was handsome, charming, nice ... What more could a woman want ?
"Mister Mikaelson ?"
And he was the organizer of this party.
Y/N's smile slipped from her face and she couldn't put it back there when she saw another man in a suit approaching Elijah.
Her eyes widened in shock and she looked at him in panic as he turned back to her. ,, It was a pleasure to meet you, Y/N. And thank you for your honesty, ” he replied charmingly and by no means unkindly. As if in a trance, she watched him blow a kiss on the back of her hand and then disappear into the crowd. Frozen, she looked after him.
"I see, you got to know Klaus’ brother. "
"Yes, after telling him that I think his party is shit."
Cami laughed next to her and sipped her champagne glass. "You couldn't keep your mouth shut. I should’ve known," she laughed.
,, He’s one of them. But he doesn’t look like them. "
"Like an Original vampire ?"
Y/N shook her head and watched Elijah talk seriously to the man who had just interrupted their conversation. "Not in the slightest."
Cami just shrugged and emptied the rest of her glass. ,,What can I say ? You are a witch. Nothing should really surprise you anymore. "
Y/N just swallowed and looked at her friend with a frown, turned back to the bar. "Okay, now I need something really strong."
The joy and the chaos, the demons we‘re made of
That evening was a long time ago. When Y/N woke up that morning, she was awakened by the jazz music that flew through the open window from the streets into the bedroom. She blinked a few times and looked around briefly as she opened her eyes fully.
She was lying in a big bed, wrapped in a soft duvet with an even softer pillow.
When she tried to turn on her back, she became aware of the strong arms that were wrapped around her waist and which pressed her tightly against him.
Y/N smiled and turned carefully in his arms.
Elijah was still sleeping, but he didn't seem to want to let her go even in his sleep. Carefully, she raised a hand to brush a strand of hair from his face and looked at the brunette. They had danced around each other for a long time now, had never come closer; the family had always been a higher priority for Elijah. It was a chaos of feelings. Until Esther captured him. She didn't know what she had let him see, but he had been different when he returned yesterday.
Y/N smiled slightly at the feel of his skin on hers and drawed gentle patterns on his chest with her fingers, closing her eyes.
She opened her eyes when she felt him quickly grabbing her hand and stopping her by planting a kiss on her fingertips.
Slowly, she raised her head and smiled. "How long have you been awake ?"
"Long enough to know how you looked at me."
He also opened his eyes at his words, gently looked down at her, which only made her smile wider. She raised her head and squinted at the old clock between the windows. Y/N groaned in agony.
,,What ?"
"My shift in the hospital starts in two hours," she sighed, dropping her head back onto his chest. "I have to go."
,,I do not think so."
Her eyes fell back to Elijah while he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her towards him. Y/N laughed when he let his fingertips dance across her waist and breathed gentle kisses on her neck. "Elijah, I'm serious, as much as I would like to stay here in this bed, I have to go to work."
"Hmh," he just agreed and put his lips on hers and caught her in a hot and steaming kiss. Y/N involuntarily groaned when she let his tongue in and when she could feel something pressing against her stomach.
Half an hour later, Y/N groped barefoot through the old halls of the Mikaelson estate. She had slipped pn Elijah's white shirt from the night before and was looking for her top that she had lost on the way to his bedroom last night.
"So, you're the woman my brother gave his heart to."
Y/N paused at the unmistakable accent. The door next to her was open and she could see Klaus standing in front of an easel with a painting brush in his hand. She swallowed briefly when she remembered that she was actually only wearing panties and Elijah's shirt, but remained confident in the doorframe.
“Seems so. Any problems with that ?"
"Actually, yes."
Y/N involuntarily took a breath and frowned as the hybrid slowly walked towards her. "And that would be ?" She asked bravely.
He just gave her a mild smile. “Even if you witches are very good at nighttime activities - and you are, judged by the sounds you and my brother made last night and just now - you're a pain in the ass. "
Y/N smiled mildly. She knew about Klaus' Mikaelson's aversion to witches and had already been prepared for something like that. From the moment that Cami introduced her to him and he learned what she was, he had been against her. Klaus Mikaelson hated witches even though he his daughter was one.
"I know you aren't particularly addicted to witches," she replied carefully. "But I have no bad intentions towards your family, believe me."
"Yes, if Celeste DuBois had told me, I would have believed her, too."
Y/N's eyes narrowed. She knew who this witch was, had helped to kill her herself, and yet Klaus didn't trust her in the least. She turned to walk away, but his voice stopped her.
"You don't know about the red door, do you?"
Y/N paused. Slowly, she took a step back and looked again from the door frame to Klaus, who smiled contentedly. "The red door," he continued when he saw her look. ,, All my brother's demons; all the people he killed. The victims, all the suffering he has done. "
Y/N opened her mouth and closed it again. She knew what this was going to be. Klaus wanted to unsettle and intimidate her. But Y /N had known who she was dealing with from the start and the man she had fallen in love with.
"I know about all of this," she lied, proudly raising her chin. ,,I know what you're trying and it won't work, Klaus. I'm not one of those gullible, weak, little witches."
When her tone got a little too sharp, he took another few steps towards her. "Is that supposed to be a threat, love ?"
Y/N swallowed and looked up at him. She concentrated, looked him straight in the eye. Satisfied, she noticed how beads of sweat began to form on his forehead. Klaus gasped, his eyes widening slightly as his blood started to boil.
,,No of course not. For such a pain in the ass like me, it's really foolish to threaten the Original Hybrid, isn't it? "
He struggled for words and the two were only interrupted when Y/N heard the footsteps behind them.
,,That's enough now. Niklaus, Y/N. "
Klaus gasped abruptly as he got cool again and Y/N broke eye contact when she looked behind her at Elijah.
The relationship between her and Klaus Mikaelson had always been ... special.
Elijah held the top she was looking for in her hand and she quickly took it from him and disappeared back towards his bedroom. She didn't hear Elijah's words to his brother: "If she gets hurt, she dies, if she catches a fever, if she gets bitten, she gets hit by lightning, anything - anything happens to her, brother, you will pay for it. "
I‘d be so lost if you left me alone
Many months later, Y/N left the hospital where she worked at exhausted and overtired. Her feet ached and killed her. An emergency heart operation had given her a 36-hour shift and she just wanted to sleep.
Exhausted, she climbed up the stairs to her apartment, kicked the now uncomfortable sneakers off her feet after she closed the apartment door behind her and threw her handbag into the next corner. When Y/N took off her jacket and hung it on the coat hook, she paused. It smelled of ... food.
She raised her eyebrows in confusion and groped across the hall into the living room. On the dining table were two plates of pasta that seemed to be still hot. A slight smile crept onto her lips when she recognized Elijah. He was standing with his back to her leaning over the kitchen counter. But when he turned to her, her heart skipped a beat and the smile disappeared. She swallowed hard.
There was pain in his eyes. She could see it, see how hurt and disappointed he was. He lifted the package insert of the pills on the kitchen counter and pointed to it. "I found these when I was looking for matches."
Y/N glanced for a split second to the candles that were on the table and then back to Elijah. Her heart contracted painfully at the sight of him and she could feel the tears coming up.
"When did you want to tell me ?"
Y/N swallowed and took a few steps towards him. She reached for his hands, but he pulled back. A stab in her heart. She could hear the pain in his voice and hated herself for being the source of it. She took a deep breath and didn't know what to say. She wanted to scream and cry at the same time.
She carefully arranged her words. "I got the diagnosis shortly after I met you at the party."
Elijah swallowed, looked at the half-empty pills pack on the kitchen shelf. He kept his eyes down, but he could see the tears that had formed in her eyes.
She licked her dry lips. ,, My mother has already died because of it. Actually, it skips a generation in our family but ... "
"How much time do you have left ?"
Y/N fell silent. She hadn't been prepared for this question and when she became aware of the answer, she pressed her lips together in a thin line. A telltale tear rolled down her cheeks and more followed. She bit her lower lip to keep herself from sobbing and the only thing she could do was shrug her shoulders. "I - I don't know ...", she brought out with difficulty and more tears followed. "It was recognized too late and the only thing that keeps me on my feet are these," she pointed to the pills. ,, There is no cure and ... I don't know, Elijah. I - I have no idea. I don’t know."
"Hush," he said reassuringly, pulling her close as her body began to shake and tears ran down her cheeks uncontrollably. Her fingers reach for his vest for help and she closed her eyes. He could hear her sobbing and every further one was another stab in his heart.
"I didn't want to tell you anything because ...", she started and was interrupted by another sob. "I - I didn't want you to only see this disease in me then."
Y/N looked up when she felt him brush a strand of hair from her face and behind her ear. "I could never do that."
Y/N smiled sadly, but she could see the pain that had cast a dark shadow on his face.
Elijah closed his eyes when he hugged her tightly. He breathed in her smell, that fine scent of lavender and vanilla and he put a hand comfortingly on the back of her head, placed a loving kiss on her head.
The prospect of not being able to do all this anytime soon frightened him. He would never be able to smell her smell again, never again would he feel her soft skin or lips on his, never again could he hold her. He felt that someone had torn his heart out and for the first time in his life he thought he knew what all the victims he had done this to had felt. The woman in his arms would die. He didn't know when yet, but she would and he thought he was cursed. Tatia, Katerina, Celeste ... All the women he loved died. Loving him was a death sentence. And now, the first woman he saw at his side in eternity was doomed to die. With all the dangers like werewolves, Mikael, Esther, Dhalia, the Strix ... A deadly disease seemed almost ridiculously primitive, and yet it reminded Elijah of the incredible vulnerability of humans.
"I'll find a way," he said as he buried his face in her y/ h/c hair, so Y/N couldn't see the tear that escaped one of his eyes.
She smiled at his confidence. ,, There is no way, Elijah. No vampire blood, no back door, no loophole."
"You won't die," he replied firmly. "And if I can't move heaven ..."
"... I will raise hell."
You locked yourself in the bathroom Lying on the floor when I break through
The mood in the past few weeks had been tense. A new force and new enemies of the Mikaelson had risen from the darkness and were now chasing the family.
Y/N had been living in the Mikaelson estate for a long time now, Elijah had insisted that he could "protect" her better this way. But Y/N was sure that there were other advantages that he derived from the fact that they now lived together. She always successfully repressed the thought that it was because they had already been allowed too much time together and instead put it down to the fact that she could help them with her witch skills.
While Elijah and Klaus were out, she was sitting with Freya in the fireplace room over a stack of old grimoires when the two heard a rumble in the courtyard. Both women looked up in alarm and Y/N's eyebrows raised suspiciously. "I thought you’d cast a boundary spell."
"I did."
Y/N swallowed hard and got up - just like her friend -, following her out of the room into the gallery. She walked quietly after the blonde, careful not to make a sound.
,,Find them ! Now !"
Y/N's blood froze in her veins when she heard a man's deep voice and then the steps of the vampires hurrying up the stairs to the first floor.
"Damn it," Freya swore, immediately turned and pushed Y/N in front of her, towards the nursery, in which little Hope had already started to cry.
Silently, Y/N let the blonde allow, pushed open the door to the nursery and Freya locked it behind them.
Y/M immediately turned to the little girl, carefully lifting her out of bed and rocking her to and fro in her arms. "It’s alright, hush," she said reassuringly and gave Freya a troubled look. "How did they break the spell ?"
"I have no idea, but now we have other problems," Freya replied and looked around the room.
"What do you think, how many are down there ?"
Freya shrugged. ,, Maybe a dozen. I couldn't see much. "
,,And what do we do now ?"
"We won't let ourselves be killed until my brothers arrive."
Y/N frowned. ,,You gotta be kidding me."
"We have to get Hope out of here safely. I distract them, you take her and hide. Protect my niece."
Y/N looked suspiciously at her friend. She didn't like her plan and she had a bad gut ffeling, apart from the dizziness that has haunted her since the vampires surfaced and her body was on alert.
Y/N had no way to say anything against the other witch's plan, because in the same second the first vampire burst through the door, that shattered under its weight.
"Now !" Freya called, dodging the attacking vampire and ramming a wooden pole through his back into his heart.
Y/N looked wide-eyed at her for a moment, then took off running when she realized that she had a small, helpless child in her arms.
She disappeared through the side door into Klaus' adjoining bedroom. The rest of the vampires, spurred on by Freya, rushed into Hope's nursery while Y/N ran through the hallways of the property, trying to calm the little girl on her arm and find a safe hiding place.
And then she heard footsteps in the hallway. She cast a panicked look over her shoulder, couldn't see the vampire who was apparently on her heels, and with luck, she hadn't been spotted. Nevertheless, Y/N quickly opened the next best door and found herself in one of the old guest rooms. Looking around in panic, she saw the door to the adjoining bathroom and disappeared into it.
The bathroom was small and old, but at first it seemed safe. Y/N carefully placed the toddler on the floor. She closed her eyes in submission when she heard the door to the bedroom open again.
She was afraid of what was to come and briefly rubbed Hope's cheeks. The little one had become calm now and was looking at Y/N with big gesture eyes, almost as if she understood what was going on.
Y/N took a deep breath, crouched, and left the bathroom.
"I think you took the wrong room."
Y/N looked around. A pencil lay on the old, dusty desk. Maybe it could help her.
The vampire in front of her grinned broadly and slightly shook his head. ,,I don’t think so."
At the same time, his eyes grew darker and the veins under them became visible. Y/N had just enough time to took a step away when he rushed towards her - but he caught her anyway. She flew in a high arc through the room and landed on the desk that gave in under her weight. A sharp pain went through her spine when she painfully hit the floor and the splinters of wood pierced her back uncomfortably. Desperately, Y/N tried to drive the blackness out of her field of vision and gasped. Hope had started to cry again.
Dazed, Y/N had to watch the vampire straighten up and walk slowly towards the bathroom door.
She clumsily raised one arm and made a sweeping, swift gesture, whereupon the vase on the old wooden chest hit the vampire's head with a muffled sound.
Y/N struggled to her feet. "Don't you dare touch her."
The vampire grunted deeply and angrily while the laceration on the back of his head slowly healed and he turned to face her. "That was your death sentence, witch."
Y/N pressed her lips together, could barely raise one hand when the vampire started to attack her again. He cringed painfully when this throbbing pain in his head became unbearable and one aneurysm after another burst.
Y/N quickly took a few steps back, looking around. She would have to get past him to get to Hope's and into the bathroom and to be able to entrench them there. Her eyes fell to the broken desk and the large pieces of wood. But before she even put foot in that direction, she felt a hand wrapping around her ankle and yanking her off her feet. Again, she hit the ground hard and this time it wasn’t so easy to get the blackness out of her sight.
She screamed angrily, turned to her back, but the vampire was already over her. His fist whipped down on her jaw and Y/N’s sight went black again. She gasped as a throbbing pain spread through her jaw.
"A real waste," said the vampire, pulling her into a sitting position, causing Y/N to groan in pain. She could see how he was looking at her, how the pulsating veins were slowly visible under his eyes and she widened her eyes.
"No," she pleaded weakly, and immediately cried out in pain when she felt his sharp teeth pierce the delicate skin on her neck. Her skin burned like fire and she could feel the pressure in her carotid artery as the vampire slowly sucked the life out of her. No, she definitely won’t get killed by a vampire now, certainly not.
Resolutely, she drove the dancing asterisks out of sight, hit the vampire wildly with one hand, and groped for a piece of the desk with the other. And her heart skipped a joyful beat when she actually felt a long piece of wood in her hand. She gripped it tightly, raised it and shortly thereafter the wood pierced the heart of the vampire, who was only gurgling now. His eyes widened, his skin slowly turning gray.
Y/N gasped, pressed her hand onto the bleeding wound on her neck, and tried to control her pulse. Her heart pumped her blood through her body at three times the speed of panic, and it was a miracle that her already weakened body hadn’t given up yet.
Hope. She abruptly stood up, staggered helplessly for a few moments until she regained her balance, and then staggered toward the bathroom door. With a shaky finger, she opened the door and pushed it shut behind her shortly thereafter.
She instantly took the little girl in her arms again. ,, Hush, everything is fine. It’s alright, ”calmed Y/N/N Hope and then turned to the door. While she held the girl with one hand, she directed the other towards the door. "Apné sà mene," she casted the room isolation spell, which was supposed to protect her and the child from the rest of the vampires. ,, Apné sà mene. Apné sà mene. "
Y/N swallowed at the returning dizziness. The spell had worked, she knew that. If their enemies have no witch on their side, she and Hope would be safe in here. She anxiously blinked several times to drive the blackness out of her sight. That wasn’t good, definitely not. This excitement, the fight with the vampire, the loss of blood, now the exertion by this spell. It was too much for her weakened body.
"We sit down, okay ?" Y/N spoke lazily to Hope in her arms, held her tightly and then went down to the floor, leaning lazily with her back against the bathtub. Suddenly she was incredibly tired. There was nothing she could do about it when her hand, which she had pressed on the bite wound on her neck, fell down to her side. She was just glad that she was holding Hope tightly and that she was safe.
Already when Klaus and Elijah saw the main door, which was wide open, they sprinted into the courtyard. About a dozen vampires lay motionless on the cold ground. Someone must have broken their necks. The two brothers could hear fighting noises from the second floor.
,,For God's sake."
Elijah looked at the lifeless vampires at his feet with his eyes wide open before he heard the sounds of the fight.
"They’re in Hope’s nursery," the brunette stated, when his brother had already let out a deep growl and was gone. Elijah quickly followed him, repressing the panic fear that threatened to spread inside him. Nothing should have happened to her.
When Elijah arrived in the door frame, Klaus was already holding the heart of a vampire, whose head was rolling over the wooden floor, in his hand.
"It's great that you finished your Sunday stroll," the blood-soaked blonde said when she saw her two brothers.
,,Where’s my daughter ?"
,, Y/N fled with her. I don’t know where they are."
Elijah's heart skipped a beat and he and his brother exchanged a look before Klaus burst out of the devastated children's room.
"Y/N !" He screamed so that it echoed through the old walls of the building and trudged off, Elijah was close on his heels.
Elijah swallowed hard, looked around in search. She couldn't have run down the stairs to the main portal, that would have been too dangerous. He knew Y/N, knew that she wouldn't do anything that would endanger Hope’s welfare. No, she must still be in the property, looking for somewhere safe to hide with his niece. And for the first time in his life, he prayed. He prayed that they were alright.
"Y/N !" Klaus called again and was forced by his brother to stop. He glowed at him.
"What is it, Elijah ? ..."
Just when the hybrid wanted to add something, Elijah held up a hand and Klaus fell silent. Now he was listening carefully, too.
A whimper was carried to them quietly, very quietly. Elijah swallowed. It was his niece who made this sound and he closed his eyes for a moment.
,,Here."
Klaus started to move with vampire speed, Elijah followed his brother through the several corridors to the open door of an old guest room.
Perplexed, the brunette stopped in the door frame. The room was completely devastated. The shards of an old vase were scattered all over the floor, the old desk was now just wood splinters and a dead vampire was lying in the middle with a piece of said wood in his heart. There was an unpleasantly penetrating smell of blood in the air and Elijah's heart contracted painfully. He inflated his nostrils. It was her blood, no doubt. He saw the drops of blood that led to the bathroom like breadcrumbs and clenched his hands into fists.
Klaus wasn’t in the slightest interested, his thoughts were all about his daughter, whose whimper was dampened by the locked door of the bathroom.
"Y/N ?!" He called and wanted to bang on the door, but barely touching it, he flew across the room and landed between the remains of the desk. "Tell your girlfriend to break her barrier spell," Klaus growled angrily.
Elijah hurried to the door too, but didn't touch it. "Y/N ?" He asked carefully, listening intently. ,,It’s alright, it’s me."
"Freya !" Niklaus meanwhile called his sister in the background ,whose hasty steps Elijah could already hear.
"Y/N ?" Asked the brunette once again, but he didn't get an answer. His fingernails pierced painfully in the heel of his hand as he continued to clench his hands into fists. If anything had happened to her, she would have been ... He swallowed hard.
"Y/N, I beg you, open the door," he continued to plead and briefly closed his eyes. Something worried him so that he fell silent. Klaus, who misinterpreted his brother's behavior, narrowed his eyes and came up to him, looking at him questioningly.
Suddenly, Elijah's heart pumped his blood through his veins at three times the speed and his chest rose and fell rapidly. No, it couldn't be. Not her, not ...
"I only hear one heartbeat."
Klaus' pushed the pent up air out of his lungs and looked at his brother with wide eyes. He added up one and one. His daughter was crying and alive on the other side of the door, but Y/N’s blood led the brothers straight to the bathroom. That meant ... He closed his eyes, devotedly.
"Freya !" Elijah for the first time cried. He was desperate. He had no way to get to her as long as the barrier spell was working. He wasn’t be able to help her. "Freya !"
"I'm here, I'm here," the blonde hurried into the room.
"I ... I can't hear her heartbeat. She spoke a barrier spell. I have to get to her. "
Freya gave her brother a brief look with wide eyes, but then nodded, carefully pushing him to the side and raising her hands to the door, closing her eyes.
Elijah nervously watched his sister's lips moving, but he couldn't hear what she was saying. His thoughts only revolved around Y/N and this panicked fear of having lost her now. He couldn't think clearly anymore, he could ...
,,Broken."
As soon as Freya had taken a step back, Elijah shot forward, but the door was still locked. He took a few steps back and then threw his entire body weight against the door, whereupon the lock gave way and he stumbled into the room, followed by Niklaus.
When he saw her, he held his breath. Blood kept flowing from the bite on her neck. One of her hands, covered in blood, lay on the floor beside her. She had slid to the side, lay motionless in the corner, but one of her arms were wrapped tightly around little Hope, as if she still wanted to protect her by all means.
Her jaw was swollen and her lip had split open. Her skin was pale and her eyes closed. She didn't move.
I pull you in to feel your heartbeat Can you hear me screaming „Please don‘t leave me“ ?
,,No no no no."
Elijah dropped to his knees, while Klaus picked up his daughter and soothingly stroked her head. Meanwhile, Elijah pushed up the sleeve of his shirt, bit his wrist without another thought. His blood quickly flowed out of the wound and ran down his wrist, dripping onto the cold tiled floor.
He carefully lifted a hand and placed it on the back of her head, pressing his wrist against her pale, full lips.
"Please," he pleaded softly and briefly closed his eyes. He could feel his blood running down her throat, but she didn't swallow. "Please don't leave me."
Quietly, very quietly, he heard her blood roaring in her veins and ... a single heartbeat. Elijah suddenly looked up, looked at her. He carefully brushed a y/h/c strand of hair from her face and hopefully looked at her. He watched how the wound on her lip slowly closed. The swelling of her jaw faded and the bite became smaller and smaller with every second until it completely disappeared.
Hold on I still want you Come back I still need you
,,Please..."
He kept stroking his thumb over her cheek, waiting, praying, pleading. But nothing happened. She didn't move. He could hear her quiet heartbeat, but the silence in between them was still too long.
"The vampire blood is working, why doesn't she wake up ?" Freya asked, also concerned, and Klaus gave her a quick look. He comfortingly weighed his daughter in his arms, gave her a kiss on top of her head, but he had a dark guess. He would never admit it, but his heart ached when he saw his brother on the floor, in front of him, the woman he loved. Elijah had his head down, his eyes closed.
Klaus swallowed. "It healed all the injuries it was able to heal."
Elijah slowly opened his eyes when his brother's words came to him. Niklaus was right. Vampire blood did not heal all injuries. If he was actually right, then ...
Elijah's head immediately went up. He got up, wrapped an arm around Y/N's waist and lifted her into his arms. "We have to take her to the hospital."
"I'll get the car," Klaus nodded, handed Hope to his sister, and then left the room with vampire speed.
When Elijah stepped out of the courtyard with Y/N in his arms, Klaus braked the big off-road vehicle in front of the entrance portal, got out and opened the car door to the back seat for his brother so that he could get in with Y/N. No sooner he had closed the door than his brother depressed the accelerator pedal.
A long endless highway, you‘re silent beside Drivin‘ a nightmare I can‘t escape from
Elijah held her tightly in her arms. None of this was allowed to happen. It was like an inevitable nightmare from which seemed to be no escape and Elijah wanted to wake up. He wanted it so much.
He didn’t hear Niklaus swearing loudly when a small Fiat 500 twitched down the road ahead of them, taking all time in the world, and he did not hear him honking loudly and then overtaking it - to the disapproval of the oncoming traffic.
None of this was allowed to happen yet. The time was not ripe, they hadn't had enough. She was the woman he wanted spend eternity with and now she was going to die ? That was a bad joke. It had to be. Even their enemies couldn’t have imagined anything more cruel than the terrible reality did.
Helplessly praying, the light isn't fadin' Hiding the shock and the chill in my bones
He gently stroked a  strand of hair out of her face and examined her face closely. Everything had to be fine. He couldn't lose her, he couldn't.
The two brothers had been flashed at least twice on the way to the hospital, but they didn't care when Klaus braked hard in front of the emergency room and several paramedics looked up in alarm.
Niklaus got out, opened the door to the back seat and Elijah climbed out of the car with Y/N in his arms.
"We need help !" He shouted as loud as he could and some of the paramedics were already hurrying towards them.
"Everything is going to be fine," he whispered softly as he looked down at Y/N, who was still motionless in his arms. The sight made him terrified. He had never seen her so weak, so lifeless, as if the vampire had sucked all life out of her, despite the vampire blood that had healed the most serious injuries.
They took you away on a table I pace back and forth as you lay still
Meanwhile, Elijah hurried straight to the emergency room. Some nurses met him with a table.
"Put her here."
He did as he was told. He carefully her on it and swallowed hard when he saw her lying there. He was caught up in his personal nightmare from which was no escape. His hands had started to shake and he clenched them into fists to stop them. Y/N was immediately surrounded by several nurses and a doctor.
"What happened ?" the doctor asked. That was the question of all questions.
,, She has a serious disease. Dr. Pace is responsible for her,” Elijah just replied. "I found her like this."
They pull you in to feel your heartbeat Can you hear me screaming, "Please don't leave me"
"Weak pulse," another nurse noted. Elijah's eyes suddenly flew to her and the doctor also turned to the nurse. The brunette didn't notice how his brother pulled the doctor to the side. He only had eyes for the woman he loved.
"Listen," Klaus said meanwhile and his pupils dilated when he made eye contact with the doctor. ,, I want you to do everything possible to keep this woman alive. Everything. No matter how much the drugs cost, you give them to her. "
The doctor swallowed and then nodded quickly. “Of course."
Meanwhile, like in a trance, Elijah watched them push Y/N away. He wanted to go after her, but two nurses stopped him. He didn't have the strength to manipulate them, and frankly, he didn't know if it would be that good. Her life was in the hands of the doctors now.
The large double door closed and the corridor in which they had followed the doctor's staff had become quiet. It was dead silent.
He just stared at the door, tried to hear something, but the doors didn't let a single sound pass.
He weakly dropped into one of the hard chairs at the wall, just staring straight ahead at the gray hospital floor. Only now did he notice the blood on his hands - her blood. His hands trembled uncontrollably and he could only stare at them.
Almost startled, he winced when he felt his brother's hand on his shoulder.
"Elijah ?" It was rare for Klaus' voice to sound so careful and gentle, but his brother didn't respond. His mind was a mess that he was no longer able to organize.
"She is strong," the blonde continued and dropped onto the chair next to his brother. ,, Stronger than most people ... and witches. She won't give up without a fight. "
Elijah just nodded absently and Klaus swallowed hard. He felt a sting in his heart when he saw his brother sitting there; like a heap of ashes and only because the woman he loved was in mortal danger. He was almost surprised, when he heard his voice after some minutes of silence.
"I can't lose her, Niklaus," he said in a rough voice and when he looked at his brother for the first time, his eyes were red. ,, Not her. Just ... not her. "
"You won’t lose her," Klaus assured him, but he also knew that he could not promise anything.
Hold on I still want you Come back I still need you
It took full two hours. Two hours during which the entire corridor in front of the intensive care unit had been occupied by the Mikaelson clan.
After walking uneasily up and down the corridor for an hour, Rebekah had persuaded him and he finally sat down on a chair again, holding his head down and supporting it with his hands. Hayley was sitting opposite him with Freya, Klaus was leaning against the wall next to them with his arms crossed and Rebekah had leaned her head back against the wall beside Elijah and was staring at the white concrete wall.
When the door to the intensive care unit opened again that day, everyone present hopefully looked up. And this time, Elijah's heart beat a little faster when he recognized Y/N's doctor, who was now approaching them.
,,How is she ?"
Elijah immediately got up and expectantly looked at her. He still hoped that anything, any luck, could save her. His siblings had also expectantly sat up and listened intently.
Dr. Pace, however, wiped her dry lips and glanced at Elijah's siblings before turning back to him. She was looking for the right words. "She's not stable, but she's in no pain," she started slowly. ,,Mr Mikaelson, I don't want to lie to you. Her vital signs are miserable and her body is very weak. I am afraid that your fiance will not make it ... "
Elijah inhaled sharply, abruptly looked away from the doctor and swallowed hard. There was nothing he could do about the tears that drove into his eyes by themselves and made his field of vision glaze over. He ran a shaky hand over his face. He felt Rebekah's hand dull on his shoulder and heard the doctor's further words as if through cotton wool, but he no longer listened. His heart was squeezed in the most brutal way he could imagine at that moment and all he wanted was to see her. He wanted to be with her.
Until the very end.
Let me take your hand, I'll make it right I swear to love you all my life
,,How do you feel ?"
Y/N studied Elijah for a moment while he sat on the edge of her bed. She made a face at his words. ,,My head hurts."
,, You lost a lot of blood. My blood couldn't heal everything, ” he wistfully said and Y/N encouragingly and lightly squeezed his hand. Both ignored where the headache really came from.
She turned a little further in his direction. It seemed her whole body was on fire and with every movement she did she felt like every muscle was torning and every bone was breaking.
Elijah forced a smile, but Y/N could see what was really going on with him; of course she could.
She watched him for a while, watching him keep looking at her two hands and not stopping to run his thumb over the back of her hand.
"Hey," she finally said, forcing herself to smile, even if it hurt her heart. "We knew that it has to end at some point. We have already been given more time than it should have been. ”
He swallowed hard at her words. She spoke the truth, but it had never hurt as much as it did at that moment.
She saw it in his eyes, saw it in the way he looked at her and it broke her heart, over and over again, every single second. This broken man had stumbled into her life and had ended with his own centuries before at the same time. Only she had managed to make it back to something worth sacrificing.
,, I have no regrets, Elijah. Just that we didn't make more. "
At that moment it occurred to him. So much had crossed his mind that he hadn't thought about where he was with his brother in the morning before it all started.
With his hand that didn’t hold hers, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the little box from the jeweler. He forced himself to smile as he opened it and looked at the silver wedding rings that were inside. The Mikaelsons emblem engraved on them. His eyes wandered between her and the rings. "There’s no pastor and this is neither a church, but .."
"It's perfect," she interrupted him, and this time the pressure in her hand was a little stronger.
He smiled at her again, and still struggled to hold back the tears that started to form in his eyes every second. But her smile, her happy smile, made him strong. It gave him strength.
One of her hands vaguely moved to the remote control of the bed, blindly groping for it until she finally found the button that would push the head of the bed a little up so she was sitting upright. Meanwhile, Elijah slid a little further onto the edge of the bed and then took her two hands.
Y/N sniffed once and then smiled again as she started to speak. "I hereby take you, Elijah Mikaelson, wholeheartedly to my husband, accepting your weaknesses and your strengths as you accept mine. I promise to trust you and support you in everything, and always make the happiness of our love and our family my number one priority. I will be your partner in wealth and poverty, in sickness and health, in success and failure and in life and death. I always promise to stand by your side, no matter what life has in store for us. I believe in you, in the person you will be and the couple we would have been together. You are my love, my life, my today and the rest of my life."
At her words, a single tear ran down his cheek. A single tear that represented what could have been and what could have become of them; but they were denied it.
He took a deep breath, looked at their hands, whereupon another tear dripped onto the white bed sheet below. He swallowed, then looked up at her, who was also struggling with tears.
"I hereby take you, Y/N Y/L/N, to my wife from this day on. I promise to love and honor you. I promise to give you my infinite love and affection, to always be sincere, to appreciate you and to share my thoughts, hopes and dreams with you. It is an honor for me to be able to spend the rest of my life with you. I hereby promise to love you. Always and forever."
But now it was Y/N, who had to sniff at his last words. Always and forever. That was what it meant to the Mikaelsons. An always and forever was of the utmost importance to her and she knew that Elijah in particular would do anything to keep that promise. She was part of his family now. She had already been a long time ago.
She gave him a sad, yet so happy smile as she reached with a trembling hand for the ring in the box,  carefully removed it, and then took his hand to slide it over his finger.
Elijah did the same with her ring, took her dainty hand and pushed the ring down her ring finger.
She happily looked at the piece of jewelry on her finger. This may be the last minutes of her life, but it were also the most beautiful. Nothing could have been nicer for her.
Now, the tears ran down her cheeks and she looked at Elijah, looked deep into his eyes, as he did. In a shaky voice she said: "You may kiss the bride."
Elijah carefully leaned forward, careful not to pull any of the many hoses or cables while she clumsily raised a hand and finally put it on his neck as his lips carefully touched hers.
It almost seemed as if he was afraid that she would break if he touched her and yet, for Y/N, it was the most beautiful kiss out of all. She could feel the love he put in it, the pain, and the salty taste of tears on her tongue. But she didn't care; it had always been what she longed for in life, he had always been the missing piece of the puzzle in her life that she didn't even know she needed. At that moment she had lost everything and had had everything at the same time.
He leaned his forehead against hers, one of his hands on the back of her head supported her a little. She closed his eyes like he did, could feel his hot breath on her face and the tears he was desperately trying to hold back.
,,I love you so much."
A smile formed on her lips and she tried desperately not to scream and break into tears.
,, I love you too, Elijah. Always and forever."
At those words, he kissed her again and her heart contracted painfully. It had long been clear to her that this would be her last moments and with every passing second the pain grew.
,,Do you lie down with me ?"
There was so much hope and despair in her voice that Elijah felt like someone was zealously tearing his heart out of his chest.
The tears on his cheeks were dry, he had made an effort that no more would flee from the corners of his eyes, yet his eyes had a steady, moist shine.
He cleared his throat, swallowed the lump in his throat. He had taken off his jacket some time ago, the tie was right next to it over the back of the chair. He had rolled up the sleeves of the white shirt and opened the first two buttons of it.
Elijah slowly nodded when Y/N gave him a little space and slid aside so that he could lie down with her.
He carefully lifted the tube of the infusion, lay down next to her and immediately felt her seal up to him and put her head and left hand on his chest and listen to his heartbeat.
He closed his eyes for a moment after putting his arms around her and pulling her closer. He gave her a kiss on the forehead and rested his chin on top of her head. He looked at the heart monitor which recorded her steady and now slowing heartbeat, with mixed feelings.
He carefully grabbed one of her ice-cold hands, gripped it tightly with his, and closed his eyes just like she did.
Hold on, I still need you
Y / n woke up to the sound of the rushing waves and the screeching of a few seagulls. She blinked in confusion, turning to her side.
When she opened her eyes, she was blinded for a moment by some sun ray, but found out that she was lying in a very comfortable bed. Slowly, she recognized the outline of the open bedroom and looked through the opened wooden sliding door to the deserted, untouched beach.
She raised her eyebrows in confusion and looked beside her, but the space was empty. She glanced down at herself, found out that she was wearing one of Elijah's dress shirts and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. Now, she could hear the soft piano music, which was  very quietly carried to her through the open door.
She barefooted tapped over the wooden floor, gazing at the sea and the waves outside and only following the music.
She smiled when she saw him, stroked the y/h/c hair on one side and tapped to him. She finally wrapped her arms around him from behind and watched his fingers continue to dance elegantly over the black and white piano keys. She kissed his neck and shoulder and briefly closed her eyes until the music stopped. But she knew what this was. And she knew this little, cute hut on the island off Brazil too well.
"You proposed to me here," she stated and slightly smiled at the memory.
"The best weekend of my life."
"And that only happened because we fled from your brother," Y/N laughed quietly, remembering how Klaus had barely given them privacy in the New Orleans estate.
"His ego wasn’t too hurt," Elijah replied, pulling Y/N onto his lap so that she leaned back against the piano and could wrap her feet around his waist. She did the same with her arms and his neck. She closely watched the man in her arms and gently ran her index finger down his temple to his jawline.
"I loved it here," she admitted. ,, No one had ever done that for me before. And that just made me love you more. "
Elijah smiled slightly and yet Y/N noticed the dark shadow in his eyes that he was trying to hide from her. But he had never been able to completely hide everything from her.
I don't wanna let go I know I'm not that strong
For a moment, he just closed his eyes and buried his face in the crook of her neck. "I can't do this without you."
Y/N forced a smile and stroked her fingers soothingly through his hair as she felt him take a deep breath. ,, Yes, you will. I know you, Elijah. When you are about to lose your footing, think about how much I love you, whatever you do. "
"Please ... stay."
Y/N devotedly closed her eyes and pressed her lips together in a thin line. She tilted her head back, but couldn't stop the tears. "I can't," she said and her heart contracted painfully at the thought.
Elijah listened to her voice and the sound of the waves. A seagull was screaming a little away from their little hut.
“I should have found a way. It's my fault."
"Hey," Y/N immediately said in a firm voice and leaned back a little to look him straight in the eyes as she grabbed his face with both hands. ,, It's not your fault, Elijah. If you dare to think that, I'm gonna haunt you as a ghost and kick your ass. It's not your fault. Vampire blood doesn’t cure all diseases. "
But he shook his head slowly, trying to blink the tears away. "There has to be another way."
"It doesn't exist," she denied, forcing an encouraging smile. “Stop doing that. You did everything you could do, okay ? When I got the diagnosis ... it was already over for me - until I met you again. Thanks to you, I have weighed my entire life within a few years. You made it worth living and if it should be over now, then it’s okay. "
She gently stroked an escaped tear from his face and gave him another of her smiles before she finally got up and reached a hand out to him. The piano started to play the melody Elijah played before when she pulled him to his feet.
"Am I gonna get my wedding dance ?" She asked with a happy smile on her lips as she led Elijah a little into the room. He also smiled as he took her hand, pulling her by his waist and pressing her against him. She carefully laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes as they slowly began to move to the delicate piano music. Suddenly, she had become incredibly tired and Elijah had been ignoring the slowing, dull beeping that came from far far away and that only he could hear.
He gave her a gentle kiss on her hairline and led her over the old wooden floor.
I just wanna hear you Saying baby, let's go home Yeah, I just wanna take you home
Slowly, very slowly and lazily, she finally raised her head again and looked at him with tired eyes. Still, she smiled.
,,I love you."
The beeping grew louder. And it slowed down.
Elijah closed her eyes and pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead. He gently stroked a strand of hair behind her ear and examined her face closely. Y/N had always loved it when he did that, but now there was a whole different reason: he was afraid to forget her.
He pressed his forehead against hers, closed his eyes. ,,I love you, too."
Y/N smiled happily. ,,Always and forever."
She pulled him down for a last kiss, felt his soft lips against hers, and smiled into it. She could taste the salt of her tears and pressed Elijah tightly against her. She didn't want to go, but she had no choice.
A shrill, continuous beep tore the moment and Elijah's heart at the same time when he realized what it meant. The scenery in the open hut on the beautiful island was gone, faded like fog in the morning sun.
No, no, no, he desperately thought and his eyes widened, the tears now unstoppable. An incredible anger over his inability came over him, but the grief was greater and he didn’t want to believe it.
His breath was faltering and frantic, he almost didn't dare to do it when he propped himself up on his elbows and looked at her.
The tears ran down his cheeks. Her eyes were closed, a satisfied, little smile was on her lips and one could almost think she was sleeping. And in a way she did; she had fallen asleep peacefully and happily.
"No," he whispered as one of his tears dripped onto her shoulder, making the fabric darker there. He carefully raised a trembling hand and brushed a strand of hair away from her face. She didn't move.
The other Mikaelsons had also gathered in front of the window to the hospital room. They too had noticed what had happened. They all had tears in their eyes. Tears to see therr brother there and tears because a part of her family had left them.
"No ...", he sobbed and put a hand on her cheek, but it was clear that she would no longer feel it; she wouldn't feel anything anymore.
And then he broke. He could feel his heart shattering and leaping in a thousand pieces, his tears falling down his cheeks in the event of falls, and he carefully lifted her up and buried his face in her chest. He didn't want to let her go, he couldn't let her go. She was gone and something in him refused to accept it.
He sobbed and cried desperately, still smelling the light hint of her perfume as he buried his face deeper in her chest.
She was gone and he was alone now. He was completely alone. He had no one left.
Hold on, I still want you Come back, I still need you

Hinata Shoyo
Tumblr media
Hinata is your neighbor, and you've known each other for the past few years.
You met him near the bathrooms by the water fountains at one of his games, ironically, right after he had gone into the men's room to empty his stomach, since he used to get nervous all the time before a match. Since then he's gotten better, but you still worry for him sometimes.
You always help each other with homework or volleyball, although it's kind of one-sided, since you're super smart and he's very dedicated to being a middle blocker.
You always thought of him as a best friend, nothing more, although over the past few weeks, you'd been questioning yourself about that. He's been hanging out with you less, but youre pretty sure it's just because he's been busier lately. Sometimes your anxiety gets the best of you and you wonder if you did something to provoke him to not want to be around you. Every time this thought pops up in your head you have to take a deep breath to rid your brain of it.
At school his grades have gradually getting worse so you proposed a study date. As soon as you asked him you went red, hoping he didn't take it the wrong way. "I-I didn't mean a real date, it's not like--" you stumbled over your words, but he interrupted you with a laugh and said "Sure, that'd be nice. Whatever day you're free," he smiled at you. You nodded quickly and agreed on a Wednesday. You both parted ways until the set date.
At around 5:40 that Wednesday, you pace around your bedroom waiting for that familiar chime coming from your front door, letting you know that Hinata was there. It never arrives, and your worries that he's trying to keep out of contact with you come flooding your mind once again. You hope that at least he'll text you that he couldn't make it, but no chimes come from your phone either.
The next day, Thursday, at school, you don't see him in any of your usual classes together, which concerns you because he almost never misses a day. Is he sick? you wonder to yourself, and can't get him off your mind until your friend Yachi invites you to her table at lunch to discuss the new club openings that they could join together.
You start to ask her if she's seen Hinata but stop yourself mid-phrase and continue eating.
The days drag along. You haven't heard a thing from Shoyo all week.
You make a last attempt to contact him by texting, "Hey, we missed our study session :p wanna try again tomorrow?" It was a Sunday, so you felt like the next day would be a good time. It surprises you when he responds almost immediately after with "Sure :D See you at school :)". Your heart leaps but you remember that this could all be a set up.
Nah, you reassure yourself, Shoyo's way too nice for that.
For the rest of the day you surprise yourself when your feet guide you to the school gymnasium. You walk in hesitantly towards the door and remember that--
Of course. Why did you think the gym would just be open to anyone? On a Sunday, at that? You bury your face in your hand and turn back when someone comes up behind you-- Yachi.
"Hi Y/N! What are you doing here? I came because I was forgot my bag in here on Friday and never got a chance to get it back. I figured I'd stop by and pick it up before school tomorrow," she says casually. You stare at her wide-eyed. "...Is something wrong?" She asks you. You shake you head no but reply, "I was.. uh, well I was hoping to practice volleyball drills for a bit." Your response surprises you, since you'd been happy to talk with people about it but never really played the sport, or seemed interested in doing so.
"We can't get in without the key, though, so--" you start, but Yachi cuts you off: "Oh, that's no problem, I'm the manager of the volleyball club! I thought I told you... Anyways, let me just make sure I have it on me--" she pauses and pats herself down until she finds a keychain in her pocket, "--we're good!" She says cheerfully.
Your bubbly friend unlocks the key to the Karasuno gym and pulls the basket of volleyballs out of the corner. You grab a ball and toss it up, lace your hands together and face your forearms towards the ceiling, and bend your knees to receive.
The toss was off so you have to shift to the left a little to receive it right, but the feeling of it bouncing off of your arms is so... exciting. You shuffle your feet quickly forward to get directly under the ball again and - POOMF - you hit it up perfectly again. The ball comes down once more and this time when you receive it, you decide to send it over and aim for the left corner of the court. You brace your arms, wait for the point of contact, shrug your shoulders and send the ball flying up... Over... And right inside the left lines on the other side of the net.
You pat yourself on the back for a second and continue doing some volleyball practice. You practice aiming your tosses and have Yachi (attempt to) give you some good sets for spikes. After about an hour and a half, the sun starts to disappear behind the hills. You pick up the balls with the new club manager and say your goodbyes before heading home.
Once you get to your room, you notice that your laptop is open so you decide to check your socials. You try to deny it but you know you're secretly hoping for a DM from Shoyo. As you scroll through your messages you start seeing chats that you hadn't opened in a good while. They don't interest you, though, because you just want to hear from that energetic tangerine-haired boy.
You slump onto your bouncy mattress and it seems to groan in agony as you get comfortable. Eventually your eyelids grow heavy and you decide to rest.
That next day, Hinata comes over to your house,  and you're just hopping into your neatest skirt when you open the door. You're ready for your study date, but before you can stay anything, he grabs your hand and almost drags you down the block to a wide field. As you're jogging beside him on that cloudy day, struggling to keep up, you sneak a glance at him and notice that he's looking happier than you'd ever seen him. You smile to yourself, look down, up again, and run faster to challenge his speed.
"No fair, you got a head start!" He pants, and you laugh.
Eventually you get to a large field with tall grass and a few dandelions.
"I... Need a break," you can barely get out as you bend over and breathe hard. Hinata does the same thing, and after a moment he says, "Hey, (Y/N), see that really tall blade of grass over there?" He says to you. "You mean the one that's taller than you?" You joke, and he scowls. "....Yeah, that one. I'll race you to it!" He taunts, and you gladly accept the challenge. Forgetting about school for a while, you sprint towards the grass towering over all the rest. He beats you, as always, but you don't care because even if you lost, you had more time to spend with him and that's all you needed.
By the time you reach the grass, you're both too weak to stand up, so you lay in the field, next to each other, hands just barely touching, and look at the clouds in the sky. You breathe hard and think about your best friend beside you, and feel yourself blush as you smile to yourself again.
It's quiet so as you push yourself up on your elbows, you try think of a way to start a conversation. "I, uh... I practiced some volleyball yesterday." You stumble over your words, but he perks right up at this, wide-eyed since you're not exactly the athletic type.
"Really?! How was it? Did you hit a spike? Did you practice your tosses? How were your receives? When the ball hit your arm did it go 'poomf?'" He bombards you with questions, doing the same movements he usually would on the court, since this is his area of expertise.
You try to answer him the best you can, "Well, actually, I did try to hit the ball over - Yachi, the new manager, tossed some balls to me - but they always hit the net... My sets were pretty good, and, I could control my receives!" You got excited near the end, almost bouncing, because the few times you practiced with Hinata, strangely, you struggled the most with your receives.
Hinata seems to remember that, because when you mention your improvement, he almost yells, "That's great Y/N! We should practice one day!" You agree with a giggle.
After a few minutes, the world seems to calm down, and so do you. Taking in loads of air at a time, you stare at the sky and try to trace shapes in the clouds.
"I miss you," Hinata says suddenly, almost under his breath. It surprises you and you go silent for a while. "I..I missed you too. A lot," you add, unsure of how to really respond.
He sits up and says, "I'm sorry we haven't talked, it was an accident. I got caught up in volleyball and my failing grades but-- but the few days I haven't seen you made me realize that I want you... More than you, or I, even know..." He trails off, playing with his fingers, and your heart skips a beat.
"I need you, (Y/N)." Hinata mumbles, staring at your bright (E/C) eyes. You nod, not knowing what to say. "Can I.. can I have you?" He asks, embarrassed. You nod again, harder, and grin at him. "Yeah," you just barely whisper, gazing at him as if he were the only thing in the world, and for that minute, he was.
He returns the smile, and it seems like, for that second that he does, the clouds go away, almost like they're making room for the ball of sunshine sitting next to you.
In that moment, with the (real) sun setting, and the dandelions swaying in the slight breeze, you realize that you do love this boy, and that you'd do anything for him. You move your hand slightly to the right so that your pinkie is resting on top of his. You sneak glances at him, and wonder if something's gonna happen.
Shoyo is quiet for the  rest of the time, and you don't kiss, but that's okay because...
Because he's yours. And you're his. And that's a better feeling than any kiss could've granted you.

Roswell New Mexico Season 2, Episode 13
- I’m sure that wasn’t supposed to be comedy but I literally laughed through most of that and I’m still laughing at the last scene. I can’t. I just...I can’t. I mean what the fuck even was half of that?!?!?
- I mean that episode was WILD. I don’t even know where to begin. This is going to get long...you are forewarned.
- Let’s start with the EXTREMELY RAPID conclusion of last week’s mortal peril. Yep....let’s just do some CPR...not even have to break out the alien defibrillator powers and oh look Max is just fine. I mean...thank god cause I could not go through a repeat of last season although...considering the last scene...that might be preferable. (I’m still laughing...like full on cracking up and my roommates probably think I’m nuts). Then we’ve got Liz dumping the contents of some top secret recipe giant ketchup bottles on the alien console and oh...yep....melted. Glad that crisis was averted. Then we have some random shots of people going to the hospital and oh look...everyone’s alive and fine except...Jesse Manes. I mean...don’t get me wrong...he’s a monster and I’m not sorry he’s dead by my god what a pitiful end to a character that should have been a really good villain but instead was a guy who limped around in the background most of the season until suddenly in one episode it turns out he had been putting together a dastardly plan to show the aliens as the monsters they are and then murder them....sure. Why not?!?! Well...I guess it’s nice that that barely three episode arc of Gregory Manes wanting to stand up for Alex got some closure. I just...it’s so dumb!!!!
- Oh wait...I forgot...not shocking cause it was literally two seconds, but hey...Helena randomly went back and saved Charlie and proceeded to yell at her for getting chained up and not leaving while she freed her. Cool.
- Right...so that’s all wrapped up in the opening five minutes...let’s just move on...we’ve got a lot of other insane junk we have to throw into the next 35 minutes. Yep...still laughing.
- Let’s just kick things off with Michael and Maria...and now I’m laughing again. I did ask the show to prove me wrong earlier today and well...I mean....they half did?!?!?!! Except it was literally insane so I don’t even know what to say. So...Maria’s just fine cause you know she was only half alien so that’s cool and great and then oh wait...she just happens to have a magic plot box dropped off by Mimi. Thanks Mimi...you still have no real purpose in this story except to occasionally move the plot forward but thanks for the box. But Michael doesn’t trust Mimi’s plot hints so he doesn’t want to open the box. Instead....he goes to hang with Alex and they destroy the shed together, which admittedly was a very nice scene and totally gave me Stendan in Dublin vibes and I quite liked it.
- But it was also all so they could find a literal skeleton under the floorboards. Gotta get those callbacks in eh? Hahaha. And of course it’s Tripp! Who else would it be? And of course...he’s got the magical key so it turns out Mimi really is tuned into the plot and read ahead in the script and knew that box would be important! So back to Maria he goes after having this super cathartic scene with Alex that tied into their emotional past together. I mean...par for the course...and I was fully ready for the whiplash that was going to make me crazy and you know...I was not disappointed because they started out being all “hey I love you” and I was like “eye roll knew that was coming” but then! She just up and breaks up with him because that’s what you do after a mutual I love you that’s based on zero relationship development over the past twelve and a half episodes. And once again...I am laughing.
- I mean...I’ll say this...I’m glad it was her that broke up with him and in part because she totally knows he’s in love with Alex and we have been saying that literally all season so like I’m glad she noticed. But I literally died when she was all “I’ve learned so much from this relationship”. What?! What did you learn? Did you get motivation in your script direction that we weren’t privy to because I still have literally no idea what either of you were supposed to be getting out of that relationship but hey...who cares cause it’s over now and Maria just decided that so it’s all fine. No heartbreak there. And you know...Michael seems totally cool with it. Barely even put up a fight. Hahahahaha. Again...I can’t.
- So then we go back to Alex and Michael and Isobel who is all of a sudden team Malex this episode when previously she was inventing emojis for Michael’s Maria hearteyes so yeah...all of this is just really confusing. But hey! The box has Tripp’s journal in it and descriptions that make Michael squirm but also....Tripp and Nora’s love was...wait for....COSMIC! Hahaha. Oh this show. It’s drunk on it’s own absurdity. So anyway...we’re filled in on the rest of Tripp and Nora’s story...well...sort of. We know she tried ice cream and liked it and there was talk of the mystery bad man that wasn’t Noah but uh...more on that later. Haha. Well...I guess we know Harlan killed Tripp and we unfortunately saw Nora die so that’s a wrap on the 1947 flashbacks I guess?!?! Sure.
- Oh god and the song...since we’re on Malex anyway. I mean...I liked the song and yeah....he got all the references in there. I never look away...cosmic...sure. And I knew once Forrest was there that kiss was going to happen but my god...are we really setting up season three where now Alex is the one in a random relationship and Michael is trying to be happy for him and we repeat season two’s nonsense?! Are we going to have another threesome just for funzies because you know...that was still LITERALLY the dumbest and most pointless plot point of the season. But anyway, I’m happy Alex felt comfortable enough to sing a song about a guy and kiss a guy in front of a crowded bar but there was literally NO REASON it could not have been Michael. He and Forrest literally had like four scenes together this season compared to Malex who had this whole emotional arc but no...gotta make it complicated.
- Props to them for managing to have one last break up without actually even having a conversation this time. TALENT. LEGENDS ONLY.
- I guess at least now that there’s just a minor character in the way and they probably can’t actually kiss again due to coronavirus restrictions, there’s probably some hope for Malex next season?!?! Maybe they’ll find a vaccine by the time there’s a Malex reunion. Maybe good things come to those who suffer. Hahaha.
- Right...let’s move on to Max and Liz. So uhh...Max spends the whole episode seeming like he was hopped up on drugs again or desperate for a fix. What is in that antidote?! Once again we gloss over the “darkness” in Max because like who needs real follow up to the first five episodes of the season. Not this show!
- The whole “Max destroys Liz’s lab” plot was nuts. Just the sheer speed of it from Diego magically appearing at the diner with the Generyx woman to Jenna’s super spy disguise to Max just blowing up the lab as Diego and co drive up and then they just exit stage left super fast except for the fact that Liz is still seemingly going to California but like...why? Did Generyx woman still agree to give her a grant based on her exploding lab?! Did she just feel bad that she didn’t have a lab anymore?!
- Sidebar to Steph...fucking Steph...whose apparent entire purpose this season was to be sick enough to inspire Liz to do science and break up her and Max over it and then survive after Liz randomly finds time to give her some kind of half baked medicine from her lab BEFORE it exploded??!?! Or does she just carry that shit around with her? And for the love of god SOMEBODY SAVE KYLE from this EXCRUCIATINGLY BORING story!!!!!! Please don’t subject him to more of this next season. Let them break up during the pandemic and give Kyle a clean slate and allow him to reenter the narrative in a way that allows him actual screen time and scenes with the group. Sigh...at least he got to hug Liz and have a brief scene with Alex where Alex told him he was proof of redemption. Look at that character arc that was literally told in two scenes this season! Yeah...see they can be concise when they want to!
- Anyway...back to Max. OH MY GOD WHAT WAS THAT FINAL SCENE?!?!?!??! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA?!!? I don’t even know what I was expecting but it WAS NOT THAT! What even?!?! WHY AM I BEING SUBJECTED TO TWO MAXES?!?! ONE WAS ENOUGH...sometimes MORE THAN ENOUGH. This is just really mean and so was forcing me to look at that HIDEOUS beard! I just....I really can’t handle it. HAHAHA! What drugs were they on when they wrote this?! Also...NONE OF THIS ANSWERS ANY QUESTION AT ALL!!!!!!!!!
- Let’s see...what else...
- I’m glad Jenna and Charlie FINALLY had a scene together because when Jenna first said that Charlie had disappeared again, I got so mad because it was just inexplicably dumb. So I’m glad they got to see each other.
- I’m glad Rosa is going back to rehab and that she both got to tell her mother that she loved her and tell her to stay the fuck away.
- I’m just laughing at the fact that for like one episode Helena was suddenly the big bad or at least a main antagonist or at least some kind of main player for the season and then just as quickly was COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT and is probably just going to leave now?!??! WHY?!?!?!?
- Can Isobel please get something legit to do next season that doesn’t just involve her going into people’s heads without asking and maybe involves her getting a love interest of her own? Please?! I mean...I’m glad she got learn about her mother this season but also I feel like she didn’t do much and I think she deserves more than that.
- I guess I’m glad Maria is embracing her alien side and trying to be true to herself or whatever but also....she was literally just in this episode to “not be dead”, to give Michael a plot box and to break up with him so she’s no longer a shipping obstacle. And then we never saw her again the rest of the episode. I really sincerely hope they do more with her next season in a way that actually serves her as a character because this season did not do her many favors. I’m glad she finally knows about the aliens and they delved into her own alien identity but I hope she really gets to do something with that next season and not just exist to save everyone else at the end with no thanks for it. I mean literally no one was on screen visiting her except Michael just so she could give him a box and break up with him. Liz and Max were literally at the hospital. But no...Liz had to see irrelevant Steph so she could save her for some unknown reason. Sigh....Not even her cool aunt Isobel came to see her.
- I don’t even know what else to say. I’m still laughing. I still feel like I know LITERALLY NOTHING about what was going on this season. I had hopes for this season at the end of season one but honestly I have zero hopes for season three because I’m sure it will be a clusterfuck but an even weirder clusterfuck than normal cause everyone will be standing eight feet apart. Maybe that will make them tell a tighter story and not try and shove 75 different plots into 13 episodes??? Probably not. I’m sure it’ll still be batshit crazy and make no sense at all. I’m gonna treat the show as a comedy from now on.
- Well...it’s been fun all. Thanks to anyone who made it through this whole nonsense post. You deserve a prize. Maybe a plot box or a skeleton under a floorboard or a journal telling you your relatives’ love was cosmic too.
