Fall of Wildfire
the smoke blots out the early summer sun, stealing it's wrath in the process
the heat of yesterday feels a distant memory, as summer does in october, but the scent of burning gives june away
the haze clings to the hills the same way it does my lungs, painting them both in oranges and unhealthy blues
as the temperature rises, the crows call their foreboding from the trees

National Poetry Day: ɛvəluːʃ(ə)n
Poem Two for #NationalPoetryDay @PoetryDayUK 'ɛvəluːʃ(ə)n' graphics created using @canva :: #poetry #poems #poet #EnviromentalPoetry
It’s that time of year again. Due to literally not having had the time to prep for either this or World Mental Health Day on the 10th (for reasons that will soon be apparent) I’ve had to be a bit sneaky this time around, and I am hitting Social media at the two most busy times for me: 9am and 5pm, with these blogs filling the spaces in between. This is the second poem: ɛvəluːʃ(ə)n Here it is for…

Poems From Goa: Songs Of Nature, Forgotten
Encroachment Encroachment of the feminine. Encroachment on mother earth. The home buried under the chores. All wounds buried under our wombs. (I) Impotent masculinity Has allegedly trespassed  Every gate of fertility. He has trespassed On her every age,  … Source link

People are held together by stories.
Our stories of infinite growth and human supremacy are over.
We need more stories that place us alongside the fungi, flora, and fauna of the world, not above.

a diaristic prose-fragment-undefinable-textual-reflection on climate change, sudden awareness, naïve gratitude, dubious blessings in disguise, realisations dawning, normality coming to a close, and the dismissal of early signs of danger. title after nope (2022, dir. jordan peele)
the original title, local warning for global warming, was scrapped because it sounded more like a pithy protest slogan than something attached to a poem you’d actually want to read.

Winter's Ball
the beginnings of another snowfall dance down the breeze overhead
these are the outliers, swaying erratically to whatever beat they can find
like the first people to take to the dancefloor, the people who came to get their groove on
the rest of the flakes will eventually trickle in to join them, preferring a slow waltz in comparison on their way to the ground
they swirl and twirl through the night across their cosmic stage
each dress handcrafted by winter's watchful eye behind the scenes, crystals sewn carefully to ensure the perfect sparkle once the night is over the dance is done and the blanket is sewn
and they are met with disdain at our feet, like a rug we keep meaning to get rid of but never do
leaving all of the beauty we miss amidst our drudgery crumpled beneath our feet

Picture yourself standing at the precipice of your dreams, with the wind of opportunity at your back and the fire of ambition in your heart. Each day offers a canvas upon which you can paint the masterpiece of your life. Seize this moment, for it is yours to shape and mold. Let passion be your fuel, determination your compass, and perseverance your greatest ally. Remember, the path to success is often paved with challenges, but it is through overcoming them that we truly thrive. So, dare to push beyond your limits, dare to defy the odds, and dare to chase your wildest aspirations. The world is waiting for your brilliance to shine. Embrace the journey, for within you lies the power to achieve greatness beyond measure.
