I feel so beautiful in your eyes
the way they hold me so softly, adoration etched in the soft curve of your smile
our bodies gravitate towards each other: hands, legs, arms, feet, I don't care I just want to be close to you
when you hold me, I feel as though I am standing on solid ground for the first time
your embrace like the only oasis I have ever known, as if life is a desert and everyone else was just a mirage
I grew so used to swallowing sand that I forgot how water tasted but you have brought me to the river and let me quench my thirst
and by that I mean you encourage me to finish a story when I stop out of fear it is boring you, and you listen to every word
even in the interruptions I know you still want to hear how it ends
I am so used to fawning in conversation, never able to get a word in edge-wise anyway, but you carve out space for me to speak
you praise me as intelligent and talented and beautiful even when I do not see myself as such, and you proclaim it to the world , shutting down my imposter syndrome every time it comes out to play, making sure I know that you see my worth
I can only hope my love is enough in return, for it is all yours, if you will have it

I have only ever squinted Angrily at the sun, While I appreciate the warmth, I cannot stand to look for longer Then a glance But the moon I look at the moon My gaze that Of wonder, I would watch The moon all night if I could, At night when the world is quiet, And the moon speaks, A beautiful sonnet, With no one to bear witness. I wish I could look at the sun The way I look at the moon, I wish i could be awestruck By the beauty, But I sit with sun-soaked skin From my time spent in its rays, Longing for a peek at the Stories of the past a story in a sonnet Something the sun could never compose

If You Ask Me
If you ask me how often
I think about you.
  I would say every
   second of every day.
If you wonder how often
I want to hold you.
  I would say every
   minute of every day.
If you want to guess
how much I want you.
  I would say every
    hour of every day.
So every single second,
   of every single minute,
    of every single hour.
    You're on my mind.
Now you never ever
need to question what
   my mind fully knows
and my heart feels
I am truly in love with you.

This intense burning urge to create art in multiple forms is either me processing all my emotions in a creative outlet all at one time- or me processing none of them and instead throwing myself at a project instead… so either I’m an adult or I’m back in High school. Either way I’ve got a mountain of canvases from my last art fixation and so many words I don’t know what to do with them.

An Ode to the City Bus
before i could walk, you carried me
you rocked me through traffic like a cradle, your arms have always felt safe
I have been on many a subway, streetcar, skytrain,
but none can compare to you
you hold me tightly, as if I am a doll in your dollhouse, until I reach my little doll destination, and go about my little doll life
and when I am through with all my little doll errands, I slide back into your familiar seats and allow you to cart me home, watching familiar scenes roll by as if this is a movie I know by heart
headlights flicker past like fireflies through your screens and i count them one by one
when we arrive at my stop, I call my thanks to the driver and navigate the small streets of my neighborhood home, knowing you will be there again every 30 minutes or so between the hours of 6:30a.m. and 10p.m.if I need you
just as you have always been

Blue Eyes
I see them
and instantly
I'm helpless.
Unable to speak.
My knees weak,
and I'm unable to resist you.
I'm completely lost
in your blue eyes.
It takes one look,
and then instantly,
I've lost all control.
Your wish becomes my desire.
I'm not able to escape them.
Nor do I want to.
Because they are
one of the many reasons
that you are so beautiful.

Intro post!
Finally set up a writing blog! Buuuut... that means I need to make an intro, and... okay, well, fine.
I'm Starlight, I'm 18, and I love writing slam and rhythmic poetry, and dark fiction exploring morally grey characters in situations that often threaten them and others. Yes, I adore the Trolley Problem. It's a trolley PROBLEM, not a trolley SOLUTION.
I'm nonbinary and a lesbian, and I use they/them pronouns. LGBT hate/discourse will NOT tolerated, no thank you!
My current main projects are Fingerstitched, a novella about a Frankenstein-esque boy whose scientific god is his own brother, and Fratricide In Red, an anthology of my short stories starting in 2019. (Just a note, there was an earlier version of Fratricide that I'm trying to pull from Amazon because I decided I don't like it anymore.)
Uh, that's about it! If you want to know more PLEASE ask, I love answering questions about my work. Here's one of my favorite published pieces of mine that will be featured in Fratricide in Red!
