Word Count: 1061
Requested: @emaz-0225
Request: Hey can you do a part 3 to Slave to Emotions where Hayley and Elijah get Katherine to work with them to get Y/N back and Hayley ends up getting a vision from the twin let's say her name was Viktoria ands she has a message for Klaus " Love Sirius he is good brother he will protect hope you just got to let him in and tell him the truth you have always loved him you just didn't know you could be a dad. " grandma Esther is bringing me back to life so I will be able to help protect Hope hug my mom and Auntie Beks for me please and thank you Hayley."
*Part 2*
Tumblr media
Sirius then has a conversation with Kol about stuff and Sirius pulls out a bracelet that Viktoria gave him it has a protection spell on that they created that Bonnie could never break.
Mikael pulls Sirius aside and then reveals a secret that he helped Katherine deliver Sirius and Viktoria and help her escape and he also told Niklaus about the existence
Klaus gets the message and then storms off to his painting room and looks at his paintings of babies and screams
Katherine wasn’t expecting visitors in fact since her daughter had died she hadn’t seen anyone, she still got messages from you to let her know that you were okay but nothing past that. That was why when she looked at Elijah and Hayley standing outside of her house she was more than a little confused. “What are you doing here? Better yet, how did you find me?” She asked. “There was a witch willing to help us.” Elijah answered “can we come in?” “Depends what you're here for.” Katherine answered, Hayley was the next to speak sharing the same mothering instinct that she did she knew what Katherine was feeling and thinking. “We just want to help your son, you're probably the only person that he’ll listen to.” Hayley explained and Katherine narrowed her eyes at her before opening the door a little wider and allowing them in. “What happened to (Y/N)?” She asked, closing the door. “He announced his presence to Klaus, you know what he is like and your son seems to be just like him.” Elijah explained “if we don’t deescalate the situation we both know that your son will pay with his life.” “So what do you need me for?” She asked. “Like I said, you are likely the only person that he will listen to.” Hayley explained. “Why do you want to help him?” Katherine asked. “He’s my nephew, Klaus may not take responsibility for his family but I will not let them suffer.” Elijah explained. “And you?” Kathrine asked, turning to Hayley. “My daughter deserves to know her brother as he was not the way that Klaus has made him.” Hayley answered. “Your daughter?” Katherine asked. “He has another sister? Does he know?” “He knows.” Hayley answered “he warned us that she was in danger, that’s why we think that we might be able to save him before he dies, something that he’ll regret.” “Fine I’ll help you but only to help him.” Katherine agreed.
Later that evening Hayley was laying down to go to sleep, she fell asleep quite easily but the voice that she heard in her head she didn’t recognise “Hayley.” It called. “Hello?” She asked as she opened her eyes sitting up, she wasn’t in the guest bedroom that Katherine had given her, instead she was standing in what looked like someone’s old childhood room one side looking like it belonged to girl while the other looked like it belonged to a boy, before she could move from where she was two children run in, the little boy keeping the little girl close behind him. “He’s always been good at protecting those he loved, that’s why he’s so angry that I was killed.” Hayley turned away from the children and towards the voice, there was a girl that looked like a grown up version of the one that had run past her, she realized that must have been you and your little sister. “(Y/S/N)?” Hayley asked. “I need you to pass a message to my father.” She pleaded. “I will try.” Hayley promised. “Love (Y/N) he is a good brother he will protect Hope the same way that he protected me. You just need to let him in and tell him the truth. I know you have always loved him, you just didn't know you could be a dad.” (Y/S/N) explained. “Grandma Esther is bringing me back to help protect Hope but until I’m able to make it back to you all please give my mum and aunty Bekah a hug please.” “Of course.” Hayley answered as she smiled “don’t worry I’ll help you brother and we’ll get the family back together and you can both meet your sister properly.” “Thank you.” (Y/S/N) smiled as Hayley felt herself waking up.
You had been there when Kol was brought back and he noticed that you were different then the last time that he had seen you and he wasn’t surprised after having seen your sister in the afterlife and finding out that your father had another child that clearly loved more than he loved you. “What are you doing out here?” Kol asked. “Trying to figure out what the best approach is.” You explained and he frowned. “What are you talking about?” Kol asked. “Well this will keep me safe but the rest of you are still at her mercy.” You explained as you pulled out a bracelet. “(Y/S/N) made this,it has a protection spell on it that no one has been able to break, not even that meddling witch Bonnie.” “(Y/N)!” Mikael called you over to him and you frowned before standing up and dusting yourself off. “Be careful with him.” Kol warned and you nodded before walking over. “There is something that I need to tell you before we fight your father, he will use it to try and weaken our forces.” Mikeal explained. “I was the one that delivered you and told Klaus of your existence.” “Is that supposed to change something?” You asked. “You are stronger than he ever was and once he’s dead the world will be better off.” Mikael said as he walked away from you.
It took the better half of the day to travel back to New Orleans, Katherine had decided to stay at a hotel instead of with the rest of the family so Hayley had passed on the message that (Y/S/N) had given her along with the hug but now as they stood outside the compound, she started to get nervous. “You’ll be okay, I won’t let anything happen to you.” Elijah promised. They both walked back into the compound where Klaus was waiting for them. “How did your plan go?” He asked. “Well did your plan go the way that you hoped?” He asked, Hayley nodded. “She came to help, she’s staying at a hotel,” Hayley answered. “There is a message.” Hayley relayed the message but didn’t get an answer from Klaus instead he turned and stormed out of the room closing himself away in his studio everyone could hear his scream as he looked at one of his older paintings of two babies ones that had always thought of as you and your sister, one that reminded him of the failure that he continued to be.

Can you do a prompt for domestic cleon fluff, bonus points if they have children
Well, you said kids and uhhh, how about three of them?
Media: Resident Evil
Ship: Claire/Leon
Rating: General; Tags: Children, domestic fluff, background platonic or romantic Valenfield
-----------------
“Mom? Why does auntie Jill have a dog we can’t play with?” Claire looks down at her son’s serious face, a scrunched little V in between his faint red-brown eyebrows.
“Well,” she says, leaning back on the counter and wiping her hands on a dishtowel, “she’s a service dog. She’s working right now.”
“Her dog has a job?” The V gets deeper and Claire has to smile at his incredulous tone. Ruffling his hair she laughs, Leon, across from her leaning on the stove chuckles.
“Yeah. She’s got a job. She makes sure Jill feels okay, watches out for her.”
“So not like Grover.” he says slowly, “All Grover does is sleep. And poop.”
“Yup. Just like your sister.” Leon says, dodging the towel Claire snaps his way with a smile before scooping up Scott and laughing with him.
Scott’s childish voice rings through the hallway as Leon carries him away before Claire can hear him shouting in the backyard. Their oldest, Shirley yells back, sounding like she’s starting up a game of tag. Claire smiles to herself, reaching up to put the last of the morning dishes away.
“I don’t know why you’re doing that.” Leon says behind her fondly, resting his hands on her hips and pulling her back into him. “We’re just going to have to pull them all out again once your brother stops hogging the grill.”
“Like I’m letting any of my flatware out on that concrete, besides, you let him take over.” Leon kisses along her neck and Claire tilts her head to the side with a quiet sigh. Who’d’ve thought, all those years ago, that they'd end up here? Three kids, a big yard, too idyllic to be real but it is. Chris’ deep laugh sounds from outside and Claire can only guess that it’s from some quiet joke Jill told him, or maybe the kids being goofy.
“Eugh. ‘Let’ is a strong word, he would have been annoying till I let him, it was strategic.”
“Ah.” Claire turns in his arms and smiles into the kiss he gives her. “Strategic. Sure, sure. Totally believe that, and not that maybe you didn’t want to be in charge of food? Huh? Mr. I Burn Most Things Kenedy?”
“Hm. I’ll let that one slide.” On the counter the baby monitor squawks to life, “Sorry, gotta go, my baby’s calling.”
“I always knew I was the side piece!” Claire calls and Leon claps his hand to his heart as if shot and stumbles dramatically out the doorway.
Once outside the afternoon passes in a haze of dreamy happiness. Leon brings the baby downstairs and shoots Claire a faux-annoyed look when immediately Chris scoops up his newest niece. Claire pokes him in the side once and laughs as he jumps, watching with an unconscious smile as Chris sits carefully next to Jill and the two of them make the baby laugh with funny faces.
“Cece, right?” Jill asks.
“Yeah, well, Celia, but we call her Cece.”
“She’s beautiful.”
-
Just as Cece is finally asleep after her last bottle, from down the hall comes a loud wail. In her crib, the sound makes Cece start and her cries join in with an ear piercing harmony.
“I’ve got him, you good here?” Leon nods, already focused on soothing the startled infant, pulling her into his arms.
Claire cracks the door to her son’s bedroom open wider, adding illumination to the shark night-light and glow in the dark stars scattered across the ceiling, “Hey baby, what’s happening?”
Behind her she can hear a door open quietly and she turns, nodding to Shirley, “He’s okay, I’ve got him, thanks Love.” Shirley sleepily nods and closes her door again.
Scott is sitting up in his bed, no longer sobbing but hiccuping with tears stains running tracks down his cheeks. When Claire lays down beside him he snuggles into her arms immediately, leaving a snotty-wet smear stain right in the center of her shirt, but she can’t say she minds. “Want to tell me about it?”
“It was-” He hiccups again and she rubs his back soothingly, “Scary, big dogs- and I couldn’t find you!”
“I’m right here, I’ll always be here.”
His hands are fisted into her shirt, “But what if I can’t find you?”
“You know how it goes, just like in the grocery store. I’ll find you, no matter what. No matter what.”
He still looks troubled but lets himself be soothed, the exhaustion of the day settling in again.
“You can sleep with us tonight if you want.”
“Shirley says five is too old to sleep in your bed.”
“Well. I’ll tell you a secret,” Scott leans in with his big serious eyes, dying to know, “Shirley would still get nightmares when she was seven.”
Scott giggles with her, “Okay.”
“Okay.” Claire nods, picking him up despite how heavy he’s getting. By the time she’s changed into her pajamas he’s already asleep right in the middle of their bed. Claire scoots him over enough to give herself room and he’s dead to the world, sleeping soundly while she reads and waits for Leon. When Leon finally enters she holds a finger up to her mouth, pointing at their son. Leon only lifts his eyebrows, moving one of Scott’s arms off his pillow as he slides in.
“What are you smiling about?” He asks quietly.
“Just thinking. We’ve been through quite a bit to get here. Reminding myself to be grateful, I guess.” She whispers to him over Scott’s head.
“We’re pretty lucky, for sure.” He reaches for her cheek and she turns her head to kiss his palm. “Really lucky.”
-----
Uh, yeah. Hi. Had no idea how to start with this prompt but ended up having a lot of fun with it? Hope this was something close!
Shirley: 8
Scott: 5
Celia: 5 months

Part 3 of 3
Part one is here, and part two is here. Let me know what y'all think!
The woods were eerie in November. The nearly leafless trees twisting and leering over the overgrown trail. The unsettling quiet of all the birds that had flown south and the animals burrowing for the oncoming winter. The squish of the not quite frozen mud beneath their feet.
Eerie, but familiar.
Dad’s deer stand was still in the largest oak just off the south trail that led away from the cabin. They passed the bog they used to launch clay pigeons over, likely still littered with the blaze orange ceramic pieces. The fairy garden mom had built alongside a hilly embankment was still there; the little figurines poking through the plethora of weeds that ensnared them. Off the north trail would be a steady stream where Roman had once taught Talia to catch frogs, and on the west side, the thick forest opened up to a field scattered with pine trees they would pick from for a Christmas tree every year. Every year until mom died.
“I should have taken your advice on the boots.” Will lifted a sneaker caked in thick, clay mud.
Talia laughed, glancing down at her equally dirty ankle boots. Selene had wisely traded her heels for tall brand-name rubber boots before they had embarked. Her and Charlotte walked a few yards in front of them, hand-in-hand. A giggle passed between and Talia’s heart tugged. “I missed so much this last year,” she murmured.
Will wordlessly took her hand.
“Let’s go this way!” Charlotte’s voice sang through the woods as they approached a fork. Talia’s stomach lurched as she saw her pull Selene’s hand to the right.
Her pace quickened and she dropped Will’s hand to catch up to them. “Char, let’s go the other way. I can’t remember how that trail gets back to the cabin.”
“I remember,” Selene offered and Talia shot her a glare.
“No, Auntie Tee. This way!” Charlotte insisted. She stomped off to the right where a wooden bridge had been built over a low lying stream that fed into the pond. “There’s a tree house over here.”
Talia froze. “What do you mean?”
Selene turned on her heel. “What do you mean? You know the old fort is down this way.”
“I-” Talia shook her head. It couldn’t be. There was no way. “When did you see the fort, Char?”
Charlotte paused on the wooden bridge, looking back to them. “This summer with my daddy. We came out here to play.”
“This summer?” Talia repeated.
“Should we start keeping a log when we visit the land now that it’s yours?” Selene drawled. Talia did not even have the heart to argue. It couldn’t be. Charlotte must remember wrong. She must have come out here years before. “You’re being weird,”  her sister added.
“I didn’t think the fort was there anymore,” Talia managed to reply.
“Well let’s go see, shall we?” Selene moved to follow Charlotte.
Talia hesitated and Will stepped around her. “Can’t hurt to see if it’s there, right?”
She put one foot in front of the other. Over the logs of the wooden bridge and then into the sea of cattails that followed it. She could swear the wind stilled as they trudged through the wet, recently trodden down path. Too recently.
A squeal sounded from the front of the line. “The tree house!” Charlotte cried from the front of the line. Talia’s heart was racing. She pushed forward, nearly running into Will when she saw what her niece had referred to in the distance.
The massive wood fort started at ground level with a primitive play-house structure and then, by way of planks and ladders, climbed up to a set of tree houses with a drawbridge between them. It was an incredible play fort; built by her grandparents and rebuilt by her parents. A fort that Talia had once ensured was gone forever.
But here it was, entirely intact.
Her chest rose and fell with heavy breaths. Charlotte bounded into the ground floor structure through the swinging wood door with peeling red paint. “Careful Char,” Selene called to her. “There might be critters or rotten wood.”
Talia numbly approached, Will beside her. He nudged her. “What’s wrong?”
She shook her head. “It…it shouldn’t be here.”
“It is a little shocking how well it held up,” Selene agreed. Talia tore her eyes away from the treehouses to find they stood next to her sister. “You would think wood rot would have set in.”
“It was all destroyed,” Talia murmured.
Selene raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
It had been in pieces. The drawbridge snapped. The walls of the playhouse were caved in. The rotting floors of the treehouses had collapsed. The ladder had been broken. The rope swing cut. Talia watched as Charlotte dashed out of the ground structure and to the closest ladder. “Charlotte. Don’t.”
“Here, kiddo,” Will said easily, walking to her. “Let me check that before you climb it.”
Charlotte exhaled a whiney moan, but abandoned her attempt to climb. She meandered away to see what else she could play with on the ground. The uneasy feeling continued to creep up Talia’s spine, enveloping her like a blanket, tightening around her throat.
Will stepped onto the first rung of the ladder, and then the second. Selene sauntered to the red door of the playhouse, testing its rusty hinges. Talia saw Charlotte’s blonde hair disappear behind the large oak that held the second section of the tree house.
“Char?” she called, her voice unsteady.
“She’s fine, Tee. Relax. You used to play out here alone all the time.”
Exactly.
Talia fought her instinct to turn and run, pushing through the knee length grass that surrounded the fort to get a better view of her niece. She stepped around the painted playhouse, and caught sight of the thick brown rope swing that hung from the largest branch of the oak tree. A laugh escaped her niece as she climbed on to the lowest knot of the rope and kicked off to sail through the air. Talia’s heart pounded in her chest.
“Char…” The rope swung like a pendulum. “Get off of there…” Another laugh bellowed from Charlotte as she swung into view and then out of sight again.
The laughing stopped.
The rope swung back into Talia’s view.
Empty.
“CHARLOTTE!” Talia sprinted the last stretch of distance to the oak. The rope was still swinging and her niece was nowhere in sight. Bile rose in her throat.
“What?!” Selene exclaimed, the noise of her boots swishing through the grass behind Talia. “What? Where is she?”
A memory hit Talia with the force of a train.
An unseasonably warm fall afternoon. Playing pirates alone as she bounded across the drawbridge from one treehouse to the other. The rope swing would make the perfect plank over the sea. She had reached for it from the lofted treehouse and swung with glee. Once. Twice.
Talia trembled as the rope swing slowed its methodic swaying. She heard Will approaching now as Selene continued to pepper her with questions. Time was running out.
“What the fuck?” Selene spun around wildly. “Where did she go? She was right here!”
“I’ll look down the hill,” Will offered, jogging down the small mound the rope swing was positioned over.
Talia reached for the rope numbly, clambering onto the knot Charlotte had been seated on moments before. She could not leave her alone. Not like how she was left.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Selene exclaimed. But Talia ignored her. She kicked her feet off and swung.
“Talia!”
The rope swung once. She closed her eyes.
“Help us look-”
Twice.
“Tal-”
And then she was falling. Selene’s words swallowed up in the rush of wind sailing past her ears. The breath was stolen from her lungs and her eyes watered. The falling sensation slowed just before she collided with the ground.
Talia rolled to her side with a groan, blinking her eyes open.
She laid on a floor of vibrant green moss. Sunlight filtered down through a canopy of spindly, leafy trees above her, and it was…warm. Her back had taken most of the landing and it protested as she pulled herself to sitting. Birds sang, and a flash of light and translucent wings whistled past.
“Charlotte,” she whispered, wonder replaced with panic. She scrambled to stand. “CHARLOTTE!”
The occupants of the forest answered. A bird cawed, another warm-colored, winged insect zoomed past. Her nine year old niece was nowhere in sight. And neither was Will or Selene.
Talia circled the spot she stood, a flood of memories breaking through the dam she had sealed nearly a decade before. As if being here had been the key to remembering all along. How far could she have gotten? Which direction would she have walked? She could not go back without her niece. Her siblings hated her enough.
But she had little time to strategize, to assess which way to start searching, when a scream sounded just behind her. Talia whipped around to find blonde haired Selene on the ground, pushed up on her elbows, her eyes wide.
“Selene?” she said tentatively. How the hell had her sister come through. It had never worked. Not when Talia had gone back time and time again.
Her sister startled at the sight of Talia, at the forest around them, scrambling backwards to stand. “What…the…f-”
A third body appeared in mid-air. Like a rip in the fabric of the forest had been opened with a knife and then sealed back shut again. Talia caught a glimpse of a dark green pine, so at odds with the trees around them, before the rip resealed, and Will struck the ground between them.
“Holy hell,” he grunted. Will rubbed at his shoulder that had struck a mossy rock as he sat up. Talia knelt to extend a hand towards him. He gave her a strange, lingering look before he accepted her hand.
“Explain,” Selene hissed through gritted teeth. She marched towards Talia, a finger extended.
“How did you…?” Talia looked between her sister and boyfriend, her mouth parting open.
“We followed you,” Selene shot back. “You were there one minute on that rope swing and then I saw you just freaking…disappear? Into some weird…what even…what is this!?”
Will’s hand retreated from her grasp once he was upright and his eyes asked the same question as Selene. Talia licked her lips. Her gaze roved around the forest again. They were in a small clearing between the thicket of trees. A stack of smooth river rocks, balancing precariously - unnaturally - sat just off to their left. She remembered. The rocks marked the way back, or in their case, the way in.
“Talia, I swear to God-”
“We’re in Emendrin.”
Selene froze.
“We’re in…what?” Will said, his dark eyebrows furrowing. He looked ready to commit her to an asylum.
“Talia,” Selene whispered. “Do not joke about that.”
“Look around, Selene.” She waved an exaggerated hand. The old trees seemed to glitter and whisper with her gesture, a warm wind passing them. One of the winged insects lingered in front of Will’s face and he stepped back but from its ethereal yellow hue. “This is not the land.”
“What is Emme-drone?” Will repeated. “Where is your niece?”
Selene’s breaths were coming faster and Talia felt equally nauseous.
“Mom’s fairy tales,” Selene murmured. “That she told as kids…”
Will frowned.
“They’re not made up, Sel,” she replied. “It’s all here. I’ve been here. And now Charlotte is somewhere…in Emendrin.”
“When you got lost as a kid…” Talia nodded before her sister could finish. Selene looked on the verge of a panic attack. Her face had gone stark white. She reached for her, but Selene stumbled backwards in alarm.
A horn blew in the distance. All three of them turned to the noise.
“What was that?” Will whispered, stepping towards Talia.
She went to answer him with her best guess and then hands wrapped around her mouth and her vision went black.

anti-romantic | (m)
word: 4.1k
Pairing: Jungkook x Reader
Genre:  Slight Angst, Fluff, Smut
Summary: celebrating father’s day without actually having kids is more fun according to you and jungkook
Warnings: hidden oral sex (fem), blow job, public sex, slight choking, riding, some roleplay (hehe)
a/n: lol this was in my drafts and was supposed to be posted on father’s day but idk if you guys liked this couple...but here it is! Might do more drabbles and stuff with this couple. lemme know what you guys think.
Read this first —> anti-baby fever
“ Happy Father's day!,” you place the bouquet of flowers on the desk before jumping on his body that was peacefully sleeping in the bed. There’s a grunt that comes out and you nuzzle your way into his neck, kissing his moles until he wakes up.
Jungkook's eyes open slowly, yawning loudly before speaking. “ How’d you find out that I have a kid? I thought I did a better job of being discreet,” he smiles when you bite his neck. His large hands hold onto your waist moving you so that you are sitting on top of him.
“ Yeah happy father’s day...because I do be swallowing your babies,” you hold back your laughter as you try to finish your sentence.
Jungkook barks a laugh, shaking his head at the dirty joke. “ I’m surprised to hear that coming from your mouth but I’m also proud,” he brings your head down to kiss your lips. There’s a slight gap when he pulls apart, “ So where is my breakfast in bed?” Jungkook asks, his lips barely touch yours as he speaks.
“ Damn, you're taking this roleplay too far,” you huff a laugh. “ Do you also want me to buy you a barbecue grill?” His eyes playfully roll, bringing you down to kiss him once more.
----
As funny as it sounds your dad is trying to convince Jungkook to buy a similar barbecue as him, they are talking among themselves, grilling some meat as you are with your mother and sister. It's a small gathering and you just want to go back inside your parents house because it is a million degrees outside. “ Auntie Y/N come swim with us,” one of your nephews comes to splash water on you. He laughs loudly when you give him an annoyed look, as the cold water drenched your summer dress.
“ I don’t have any swim suits and if I get in there I will probably drown you in front of your mom,” you feel a pinch on your left arm from your mom giving you a disappointed look. On the other hand your sister laughs, shaking your head as she breastfeeds her daughter. The little brat taunts you sticking his tongue out then swims along to play with his cousins. “ I’m kidding,” you tell your mom.
Turning back to drinking your ice tea, you sigh at the words your mother says next. “ So when are you and Jungkook going to get married? You are not getting anymore younger and it will be hard to get pregnant-”
“ Mom...,” your sister tries to defend you.
The thought of swimming sounds more appealing to you, anything that makes you stray away from this conversation with your mother. “ We actually got married, we just didn’t invite you to the wedding,” you look at your mom, her eyes shooting daggers at you. “ Imma go swimming. My stuff is still in my old room, yeah?” Your mom nods her head, pinching the bridge of her nose, probably at the annoyance of you.
Stepping in your old room feels nice, the cold air hitting your slightly sweaty face, instantly making you cool down. You toss your body on your bed, closing your eyes, taking a breather before going outside and into the boiling pits of hell. “ This brings up old memories,” you hear your boyfriend. Smiling you look to the doorway, his body leaning against your door entrance, his arms are crossed and there’s muscle definition on his biceps.
“ Yeah, because we lost our virginity on this bed,” you hold your hand out so he can come closer to you. Jungkook leans down, giving you quick kisses before giving you a suggestive look.
“ Should we recreate it?,” his eyebrows go up and down.
“ Okay,” you whisper, bringing his head down to kiss him again. “ That means you have to come in the first minute,” you laugh as he lets out a groan. Pushing him away you get up from the bed, and go to the drawers and grab a swimsuit. Putting it on you feel the straps digging into your hips and your top barely covering your boobs. Of course you don’t fit your high school swimsuits.
“ Fuck,” you hear Jungkook sigh. Turning around you give him a confused look until you look down and see a boner. “ You look so fucking hot,” he comes to grab at your ass but you smack it off. Jungkook likes that you can’t fit in your bottoms, your cheeks showing making him want to bite it. Your hips look wider and he wants to hold on to it, feeling your supple skin that spills out from the thin straps. And the way your boobs spill out like they are purposely begging him to suckle on them.
The apple of cheeks blush, your eyes widening at the intense stare. Shaking your head while looking at the door entrance nervously to see if anyone saw this scene. “ We are not fucking here, wait till we get home,” you lift your top up to try to cover more skin.
“ Let me just taste you, baby. I’ll be quick,” his hands hold your hands kissing it, giving you his best puppy eyes. He just wants to smell you and taste you. A whole parade happens in his head when you agree, leaning against the dresser and parting your legs.
Maybe it’s the heat that went to your head, that made you dumbly nod without thinking about the consequences that might happen. It turns you on even more, that you guys have to be careful and aware of your surroundings. Jungkook goes on his knees, pecking the inside of thigh before moving the swimsuit to the side, showing him your glistening folds. Immediately, his mouth is on you, tasting your arousal on his taste buds. One of your hands goes up to your mouth softening your quiet moans. The other hand, holds the dresser tightly, afraid that you might fall down.
His tongue lathers you wetness, looking up to see your chest heavily move and down. Your pretty eyes looking down at his mouth work wonders on you. “ Jungkook,” you moan. His rough hands lift your thighs up, stuffing his face more in, tongue penetrating in and out in your entrance.
Lewd noises are being made by the two of you. Jungkook’s lips smack against your pussy, while your moaning has increased despite your hand muffling the noises. Your eyes widen when you notice your door is still open, anybody can pass by because the bathroom is across your room. “ Pay attention to me baby,” Jungkook smacks the outside of your thigh.
Listening to his words, you look into his doe eyes, his tongue do small licks on clit then sucking it before his lips plop off loudly. “ I don’t want you wearing this outside, because all I want to do is fuck you silly,” his finger goes to your entrance, thrusting slowly with a slight curl. “ I love the way you look in this,” his other finger joins and watches your hips ride them like it was his cock. He blows cool air onto your folds watching your body twitch at the sensation.
“ Yeah? I can barely fit in it,” you say as you toss your head back. There’s a cooling sensation against your heat, pulling your bottoms more to the side so it doesn’t go in the way of his mouth.
“ That’s why I love it, your body spilling out of it and it’s fucking hot. Look at your tits barely covered, your nipples are begging to be sucked on,” he gives you a sloppy kiss on your clit before continuing, “ Your hips look really wide, you know that means you can take my cock better.” His thumb rubs your clit fast, more wetness seeps out of your entrance making his fingers slide in faster. “ I also love it because I got to see you grow into and out of this swimsuit. Just proves to you that I’m always here,” he pecks your thigh.
The words make you blush, insecurities washed away because you never thought that not fitting your swimsuit could be this hot and liberating. More importantly it makes you want to come all over his mouth. “ I love you,” you whisper softly.
His eyes are sparkly, looking like he holds the constellations in his eyes. “ I love you,” he says. Then placing his mouth on your cunt. Eating you up like he didn’t eat at all today. He moans into you, as your hands hold his hair tightly, the vibrations hitting your sensitive nerves making you moan loudly as you come against his wet mouth. Your hips moving against his mouth as you come down your high, finally stopping after a few seconds. Jungkook places your bikini back in place, kissing your hip.
His hair is in his face, you tuck a strand behind his ear, “ Yeah, I’m not going swimming anymore,” you laugh in disbelief that your boyfriend ate you out in your childhood bedroom while your family is outside. Taking off your bikini you return back to your summer dress.
“ Yeah, we don’t want you flashing a nipple when you do a cannonball,” he laughs, getting up and watching you look at the mirror. There’s a slight frown on your face, he comes closer plopping his head on your shoulder. “ What’s wrong?” his hands are placed on your waist drumming his fingers.
“ Do you want to get married?” your eyes meet Jungkook’s. His eyes widening at your question, there’s a couple seconds of silence. His body immediately leaves your, creating a small gap. Turning around to face him instead of talking to his reflection.
Jungkook's eyebrows raise. “ Are you asking me or is it your mom?” When he was talking to your father earlier, he noticed you looking annoyed while talking to your mother. There was a small frown on your pretty face, and he wanted to kiss it off but your father was talking about which charcoal he uses for the grill.
“ It’s better to just get it over with, so she won’t have to keep pestering me,” you shrug. Which is probably not the right choice of words, since Jungkook lets out a disappointed sigh. His hand pushes his hair back in frustration.
“ Seriously, Y/N?” As much of Jungkook would love to get married to you, he doesn’t want to get proposed because ‘you just want to get it over with’, it leaves his heart feeling heavy that you don’t see the problem in this.
The tone in his voice sounds just like your mother, a chastising tone, and you get annoyed.“ I thought you wanted that,” you toss your head back. Not knowing what you are doing wrong.
Jungkook doesn’t want to argue, especially now, since you guys are supposed to be spending family time. “ Not like that,” he rolls his eyes at how unaware you are. There’s a few seconds of silence, his hands push his hair back in frustration. “ Let’s go back out,” he says in defeat. Walking ahead of you, not holding your hand like he usually does.
The slider door is right in front of you, your family are talking among each other. One thing you don’t want is to be on bad terms. “ Jungkook, are you upset?” You grab his hand before he can walk outside to carry on talking to your family.
“ Yes. Let’s talk about this later, okay?” Jungkook turns around giving you a smile. Not the kind of smile that makes your heart flutter, it’s the type of smile that you give when you don’t want to deal with someone. In defeat, you nod letting go of his hand, as he walks to the pool getting splashed by your nephews. He brightly smiles at them, wiping the water off his face before getting a water gun and chasing them with it.
Sighing you walk to your dad who is still grilling meat, he looks at you smiling. “ Something wrong kiddo,” he asks as he flips over the meat. Typically, you never talk to your dad about your problems, only ever going to your sister sometimes but she’s not much help because she’s with your mom.
“ Jungkook and I had a...little argument,” you say, looking to the pool to see him spinning your nephew around. “ I asked if we should just get married because of mom’s bickering. Jungkook got upset,” you scratch your arm. Looking back at your dad whose face is at a grimace, your eyes widening. “ What?”
There is playful screaming and laughing in the background, you ignore it trying to listen to your dad’s words. “ Don’t you think that’s a little harsh? I wouldn’t want to be asked like that,” he chuckles lightly.
Replaying the conversation that you had with Jungkook, you mentally smack your palm to your head. Your mom shouldn’t be the reason why you should marry Jungkook. Jungkook is a hopeless romantic, he likes to be swallowed whole by your love. So of course he wouldn’t want to be proposed like that. Your dad pats your back in comfort before leaving you in your thoughts as you look at Jungkook making funny faces at your baby niece.
Jungkook is back in the house grabbing plates from the kitchen cabinet, you close the slider door quietly, walking behind him as he reaches for the last plate. Wrapping your arms behind his small waist, his breath hitches, exhaling your name. “ I’m a dummy,” you whisper.
Jungkook softly laughs, “ No you're not. I’m sorry for overreacting-“
“ You weren’t though,” you lay your head completely on his back, hearing his heartbeat. “ I wasn’t being considerate,” you kiss his back through his shirt. The plate makes a small clunk sound when he places it on the counter, turning around in your arms. His brown eyes look into your eyes before kissing you on your cheek.
“ Baby, do you want me to talk to your mom?” Jungkook asks, his large hand caressing your cheek. You give him a questioning hum. “ That we don’t have to get married right now. That we are perfectly fine just the way we are.”
The silky strands are gliding in between your fingers, as you push it away from his face.“ Hmm. Maybe she will listen to you better,” you smile. Jungkook can easily make your mom's views change within seconds with his charming smile.
---
Jungkook lifts you up the ground before you enter the house, crossing the threshold as he holds you in his strong arms. “ Why do you keep doing this with every house,” you laugh, holding on to him tightly. “ We don’t even know we are buying this house,” you say as he finally puts you down. Looking around the empty house, you visualize a sofa and tv in the spacious living room.
“Exactly we don’t know, it’s bad luck not to do that,” he also looks around. “ This is nice,” he whistles looking at your hips swaying as you walk to the kitchen. “ The kitchen I mean,” he cockily says.
Turning around you playfully swat him, “ Can you imagine yourself cooking here?” The cold countertops touch your fingertips as they slide against it. You can see yourself cooking here making food for you and Jungkook, his hands on your hips as he watches you.
Jungkook likes the way the set up of the kitchen, the granite countertops and the dark brown wooden cabinets give the kitchen an expensive feel. Compared to the first apartment he got with you in college this place is a thousand times better. His heart flutters knowing that he gets to share the rest of his life with you in this house. He comes closer to you hugging you from behind as you look inside the empty cabinets. “ Mhm, yeah I can see myself cooking here,” his nose rubs against your neck loving the perfume you're wearing. He can also see himself doing other things in this kitchen. “ And eating here too,” he says, blowing a raspberry in your neck.
Laughing in his hold you turn your head to kiss his cheek, “ Let’s go up. Before you act on your fantasies,” you grab his hand. Going up the stairs you guys checked out the three rooms and bathrooms. This house is something that you’ve been wanting for the past year, it’s spacious, has a big backyard to plant your flowers, and two hours away from your parents. “ We can put our bed here,” you point in the middle. “ The dressers here,” you point in two different directions.
Jungkook smiles fondly as you point at random spaces, he’s pretty sure that you pointed at the same area more than once for different furniture going there. “ How about the other rooms? You don’t think three rooms is big?”
You shake your head, “ I think it’s perfect. Our room, your gaming room, and maybe a guest room in case my mom wants to spend the night,” you shrug at the end. There’s a rush of serotonin just imagining getting this house. “ What are your thoughts?” His pretty eyes look around the empty big room and smile on his face.
“ Let’s get it,” he looks back at you. Your eyes meet and you grab his shirt pulling him down to kiss him to show him how happy you are. Pulling away, he holds your chin looking at your silly smile. ‘ Yeah, this is definitely home,’ Jungkook thinks to himself.
---
“ Fuck Y/N,” Jungkook moans loudly his head hitting the back of his seat.  Your mouth sucks his tip lightly as your hand moves up and down his cock. His breathing is getting louder, and he wraps your hair around his hand, wanting to see your eyes. “ Couldn't even wait to go inside the apartment,” he shakes his head in fake disappointment. But this was far from disappointing.
Moaning against his tip, you shake your head. Deciding on buying the house turned you on and you couldn’t wait to fuck him. Your lips make a plop sound as you pull apart, “ That wouldn’t be any fun,” you kiss his tip. Causing him to groan at your cunningness. “ We should fuck one last time in this parking lot,” you blow cold air on his tip before going down again.
Jungkook wipes the foggy car window to make sure no one is here looking at you choking on his cock. You're letting guttural noises and your eyes water at his size, your hips move side to side in the air, probably itching to be touched. “ Yeah, choke on it,” Jungkook pushes your head down more, throat tightening around his cock. “ Are you crying on my cock?” Jungkook condescending laughs.
It turns you on how mean he is being, your tears come down even more at the humiliation but you enjoy it. You can feel your panties are getting stuck on your folds and you badly want to relieve yourself. Jungkook pushes your head down one last time before pulling your head by your hair to kiss you. His tongue pushes against your exchanging moans against each other. He helps you move your body over the center console so you are now sitting on his lap. “ Wait Jungkook,” you pull apart. “ I need to take my pants off,” you look at the tight space around you. There’s not enough room to take it off where you are.
Jungkook screams at himself for not owning a bigger car. “ Uhh, just take your pants off real quick outside and come back inside the car,” he looks out to see no one out. The things you do for sex, you hurridely take off your pants and returning back to the position. His hands are on your thighs rubbing them up and down, as he makes outs with you. Your hips move against his trying to pleasure yourself.
Jungkook pulls away staring at you with a lustful gaze, his hands moving up to caress your face, “ Can’t believe we are doing this,” he says, laughing in disbelief.
“ Mmm, same.  Something about you signing the papers and paying the deposit turned me on,” you kiss his cheek, while stroking him in your hands.
He groans, tossing his head back showing his bare neck for a quick second, “ Yeah?” He gives you a boyish smile. “ When I saw you walking up the stairs. Kinda wanted to fuck you right there,” he kisses your neck. He moans your name when you insert his cock into your tight entrance.
“ Next time, do it. Take me anywhere in our new house,” you hold his head close to your neck. Feeling him sucking on your skin, probably marking his love for you. “ Are you gonna fuck me like your little housewife?” Smiling to yourself when you hear him groan your name. You breath out heavily, thighs shaking as you move up and down on his cock.
Jungkook's hands wrap around your waist tightly, thrusting up into you. “ My little housewife,” he whispers to himself. It doesn’t necessarily fit your image, due to the fact that you have a high paying job and you guys aren’t even married but it turns him on. There’s something a little demeaning about it and it twisted as it sounds he wants to continue with this little act you proposed. “ Gotta have you wearing nothing but an apron on,” he snarkily smiles up to you.
His hard thrust is making you jostle in his arms, and you cry even more just imagining him fucking you from behind as you cook him dinner. “ Yeah what else would you want from me, my lovely husband,” you put your hands to the car ceiling trying to keep yourself ahold.
His heart does a little jump at the word of husband, he knows it’s only you teasing but he loves the way it comes out of your mouth. “ Mmm, you have to be waiting on your knees when I come home from work,” he says while one of his hands trails up your neck lightly squeezing it. “ Fuck your mouth since you’re a needy slut waiting for her husband like a good wife.”
Your walls tighten when you hear him speaking nothing but filth to you. His thrust hits the spot that makes you drool and eyes rolling back. “ Fuck Jungkook,” you whisper. The car is probably moving from how hard Jungkook is fucking. If someone were to walk by they can obviously tell that you guys are doing the nasty, but you don’t care, this is your last day in this apartment complex.
Jungkook looks at your tits bouncing and his mouth does his best at sucking at them. He moans around it loving the feeling of your nipple in his mouth. His eyes look up at you staring down at him, sucking it hard. His lips plops off your tit, “ Are you gonna come for me, my pretty little housewife?” He watches as you nod your head up and down, holding the car ceiling as your life depends on it. He wants to remember this moment forever. His hand holds your soft tit, fingers pinching your nipple, while his mouth goes back to the other nipple sucking it softly. Your walls squeeze his cock tight as you come around it while moaning his name loudly. He prays that the windows do a good job muffling your moans, but he doubts it.
Your hands come down brushing his hair back, “ Come in your wife,” your body is still shaking from the intense orgasm. “ Make good use of me,” you tell him. His eyes roll back at words. He sucks harder on your nipple and you hiss in pain and delight. He holds you tighter in his arms, thrusting in quick motions as he comes into you.
The feeling of his come in your cunt makes you want him to fuck you all over again. Knowing that you are the only person in the world to have him inside you like this makes you prideful. The breaths die down and Jungkook is now sucking your nipples softly, humming around it. Your hands softly brushing his hair back, letting him do his thing. “ I didn’t know you would be so into the housewife role playing,” you laugh to yourself.
His lips part from your tits, and he laughs with you. “ You're into it just as I was,” he pecks your boob one last time before taking his cock out of you. The semen slowly comes down your lips, his finger coming to massage it into your folds. His mouth waters wondering what you and him taste like together. He looks up, “ Wanna quit your job and I’ll wife you up?” he laughs when you swat his hand away.

Tell Me I Won't Be Forgotten
William Gilbert Hargrove—named for both his grandfathers—was born eight pounds three ounces on Monday, April 17th, 1967.
It was, by all accounts, a beautiful day. Clear skies and a mild breeze, smiles all around as the little bundle of joy was passed between embraces. His aunts cooed over his wispy blond curls, his pretty eyelashes, his fat little legs and chubby cheeks. His mother beckoned, exhausted but enthusiastic, whenever someone else held him for too long. His father glowed with silent pride over the birth of a son.
And there were many photos taken that day. One of Neil’s sisters had bought a polaroid camera four weeks prior and, once she’d gotten used to the contraption, couldn’t seem to stop taking pictures of anything and everything she deemed worth remembering. The birth of her newest nephew was certainly an occasion to be celebrated. Commemorated.
Billy doesn’t know what happened to most of the photos. He suspects that Neil got rid of the ones of his mother and Auntie Bridge during his messy divorce and subsequent estrangement from the sister who took his wife’s side. But it wasn’t all as dramatic as that. Over the years some of them just went missing. A few ruined by juice spilled by a clumsy toddler, one destroyed by a stray cat Billy let into the house, others seemingly vanishing into thin air, like things do when they aren’t tucked away for safekeeping.
There aren’t any pictures of his other birthdays.
It wasn’t like there was much to photograph on those days anyways, he never had birthday parties. When he was little it was because his parents didn’t have the time or funds, but as he got older the excuses changed. He talked back to his baseball coach, so, no, he isn’t allowed to invite his friends over. That last report card he brought home was shitty, and birthday cake is for boys who do good in school.
Eventually it didn’t matter if he’d been on his best behaviour or not. He’d gotten old enough that he shouldn’t expect treats and presents like some kind of spoiled child. Men don’t need those things. A sentiment that Neil doubled down on when Max and Susan came into their lives. With a little sister around, Neil was determined to make sure Billy was man enough to protect her. No coddling.
Like Billy needed any more reasons to hate Max. Or his father.
But, on Neil’s orders to be nice to his new progeny, Billy buys her a skateboard for her thirteenth birthday.
Neil fumes over it, obviously. Something that nurtures her tomboy tendencies is the last thing Neil wanted when he told Billy to buy her a gift, but Billy’s nothing if not willing to follow the letter of his father’s law while ignoring the spirit. He’s kind of fucking over trying to please him. Besides, it’s Max’s big day and Neil’s new fiancee is practically levitating with excitement, Neil’s not about to ruin it by pitching a fit on Billy’s account. He’ll get punished later, quietly, but whatever. For now Neil gets to stew in his impotent rage, and that’s satisfying enough for Billy.
So it could’ve almost been a good day, if Max hadn’t opened her big dumb mouth.
“Being a teenager feels weird.”
Billy barely suppresses an eyeroll. Neil isn’t within earshot, but he can still see them. “Uh huh.”
“Bet it wasn’t as weird for you, though, right. No stupid speeches about how you’re flowering or whatever.” She grimaces, and heaves a beleaguered sigh, absently spinning one of the wheels on her new board. “I knew my mom was gonna be weird about it, but damn. You’re so lucky you don’t have to deal with any of that on your birthdays, y’know, uh, whenever they are—”
“Get the fuck out of my face, shitbird, I’m busy.”
She blinks at him, mouth hanging open, visibly torn between calling him out on the fact that he was smoking a cigarette and staring into space when she walked over, or, “Fine. Whatever. I didn’t care anyways.” Her expression shutters. She walks off and spends the rest of the day avoiding him.
Probably for the best. Her rambling put him on edge. That familiar tight, coiled burn in his chest itching at his ribcage. Poking at him more would’ve ended badly for both of them.
It’s not until later, after he snuck into her room and unspooled her favourite Blondie tape, that he realized she was trying to ask when his birthday is. He’s not sure how he feels about it.
And he never gets the chance to find out. She doesn’t try again.
But it’s not like it fucking matters anyways. Their relationship does nothing but deteriorate. Between her blabbing to Neil about shit that was none of her fucking business, and everything that went down after that—moving to Hawkins, her threatening to nail his balls to the floor—he’s sure there’s no salvaging this whole sibling thing.
He’s not sure why she seems to care so much when that shadow thing takes control of him. Why she pleads with him to remember who he is, when she never fucking liked that person in the first place.
Not that he blames her much, he never liked him either.
Probably why it’s so easy to make the trade-off between his life and some random kid’s. Seems fair. He’s scared, but he doesn’t regret it.
Except things don’t go quite to plan because four months later, for the third time in his life, Billy Hargrove wakes up in a hospital.
Only this time his sister is there. And that kid he nearly got killed. El. And half the Byers’ tucked away in the corner. And, most baffling of all, Steve Harrington, slumped over and dozing, in a rickety armchair like he’s someone’s drunk uncle.
Seeing Steve does embarrassing things to the monitor at his bedside that’s attached to his heart rate, and suddenly everyone’s fucking staring at him.
Explaining what happened to him takes up the rest of the day. Prolonged by all the breaks they have to take for the nurses to make sure Billy isn’t about to spontaneously drop dead, and some doctor coming by a couple times with forms for him to sign, including an NDA for all the shit they’re about to tell him.
He wonders aloud about what his father thought of all this shit. They must’ve told him, right. Billy being in a coma meant the decision-making would’ve fallen to his father. But he’s met with an awkward silence.
“Well, son,” the doctor starts hesitantly, and Billy bristles at his tone. “given the…special circumstances, and, what with you being a legal adult and all—”
“Wait, since when?” Max interrupts. Loudly. She’s glaring at him, like it’s his fucking fault for turning eighteen without her noticing.
Well, it…sort of is, but that’s not the point.
“Pardon?”
“Ignore her,” Billy snaps.
“No, no, don’t ignore me, what the hell, Billy? I know you don’t, like, do birthdays because you hate fun or whatever, but you didn’t think to mention when you turned eighteen?!”
“It’s not like it matter—”
“Yeah it does! You know Neil isn’t legally obligated to provide for you anymore? He could just kick you out if he wanted. With no warning. Plus, there are even fewer laws keeping him from putting you in the hospital again—”
“Max, what the fuck!”
She barrels on like he never spoke, her fists clenched, face scrunched and red, “You can’t go back there—you—I’m not gonna watch you almost die again, you fucking asshole!”
The harsh, mechanical beep beep of the heart monitor is the only sound to puncture the silence that falls over the room. It makes Billy’s skin crawl. The quiet. Everyone in the room just fucking listening to his heart pound, all their eyes pinned on him, all their shock, and goddamn pity, and sympathy he doesn’t want.
Fucking Max and her big fucking mouth.
He wants to be angry with her. He wants to rage at her, wants to tear off all these fucking wires sticking to him and feel something break under his hands, and he wants everyone to leave so he can just…
No matter how hard blinks, he can’t stop the tears from welling up.
He’d kind of been waiting for it to happen all day, is the thing. Waking up miraculously not dead, and then having a whole lot of information dumped on him all at once—sitting through the Byers kid, Will, talk about being possessed too, and Steve telling him what was really going on that night they fought, and El filling in the blanks about the memories that shadow thing left floating around in his head. It was…a lot. He felt numb from the weight of it all, and that only ever ends one way for him.
And now Max…of course it was Max who breaks the dam, because the universe fucking loves to humiliate him.
He’s not sure what to do, what to say, but it doesn’t matter anyways, he can’t get much beyond a shaky, “Max—” before she practically bodyslams him with a hug, and he crumbles entirely, a pitiful, ragged noise ripping from his mouth as the tears spill over.
Her face is damp, leaving wet smears on his shoulder where she’s pressed herself so firmly he doesn’t think he could push her off if even if he wanted to. Four months bedridden and unconscious have left him uncomfortably frail, and her grip on him feeling immovably solid is so, so alien. Almost overwhelmingly so, it’s both strange and terrifyingly familiar to be so at another person’s mercy, and he nearly pulls away because of it.
But she’s still so…small. Despite her fierceness, despite the strength of her embrace, the hands curled into fists around handfuls of his hospital gown are tiny.
He hugs her back. Eventually. Trembling, and hesitant, wrapping his arms around her shaking shoulders and turning so his chin brushes the crown of her head, his whole chest aching with more than just the pain of struggling to cry quietly.
If he squeezes his eyes shut he can almost forget they’re doing this in a room full of people he barely knows.
They’re polite about it, at least. Once he and Max have calmed down and Billy works up the courage to actually look at anybody, none of them are watching. Which is a relief.
Steve meets his gaze after a moment, though, and it’s an odd moment. They made tentative peace before graduation, but they never spent more time together than a shared cigarette or two when Billy was feeling relaxed enough to risk it. He always figured Steve was putting up with him more than anything, but he was going to take what he could get.
But there’s a soft curiosity in Steve’s expression now. The barest quirk of his lips, and a gentle sort of warmth in his eyes as he searches Billy’s face for something.
What, Billy doesn’t know, and he never finds out, because the doctor decides now is a good time to poke his head back into the room, because apparently he’d left at some point.
They still have shit to sort out, so Billy refocuses. Better to deal with boring-ass paperwork than waste his time getting his hopes up about Steve Harrington.
Except Steve keeps doing things that make him want to. Over the next month he uses “Max needed a ride,” as an excuse to hang around so often that he stops needing to say it. Neil and Susan don’t know that she’s spending time with Billy, and the hospital he’s at isn’t even in Hawkins so it’s not like she can make the trip on her own, so it’s a good enough reason for Steve to be here that Billy doesn’t question it at first.
It’s the other shit that he does that makes Billy wonder. He always asks how Billy’s physical therapy is going, even though half the time he gets told to fuck off, and he’s constatly adding to the ever-growing stack of books on Billy’s bedside table, more often than not bringing books Billy knows Max didn’t grab from his room at Neil’s house. And that stupidly fond little smile he gets when Billy actually engages him in conversation.
It’s driving Billy a little crazy, trying not to read into it. Because the question on his mind so often now is, why? Why is Steve here all the time? Why is he putting all this effort in for…what? A friend? Maybe?
It doesn’t stop when Billy gets out of the hospital. He helps Billy find an apartment to rent out. Keeps him up to date on what’s going on in the Hargrove-Mayfield household because Max doesn’t tell him shit and he’s pretty much ghosted his dad. He brings movies over and complains about his job. He offers to try and sneak some of Billy’s stuff out of his old place on Cherry Lane because Max can only smuggle out so much on her own.
And one day in mid-April he knocks on the door to Billy’s apartment—something he pretty much never does anymore, he usually just barges in—with the toe of his sneaker because his hands are full. Of messily taped cardboard boxes.
Billy’s so distracted by the pretty flush on his cheeks, and the suspiciously familiar records poking out of the box tucked under his chin, that he almost doesn’t notice Steve isn’t alone. Max is standing beside him, looking weirdly sheepish, El at her elbow holding a covered plate. The Byers and Steve’s friend, Robin, are crowded into the narrow hallway behind them, craning their necks to see around Steve.
“So, um…” Steve starts, shifting from foot to foot.
“C’mon, move,” Max shoves her way past Billy, clearing the way for everyone else. He lets himself be pushed aside, shock making him pliant.
They all file into his apartment like they were invited, except Steve who shuffles in awkwardly and stops right next to Billy, just inside the doorway.
“Harrington?” Billy murmurs, watching Max rummage through his fridge while El sets her plate on the counter.
“We brought what we could save.” Steve lifts the boxes in his arms for emphasis. “He, uh. Your dad. I guess he…”
“Just say it.”
“Sort of…threw your stuff out.”
“Surprised it took this long.”
“Yeah, well. He noticed that some stuff was missing apparently, and he couldn’t get Max to admit to it but he knows it was her, so…yeah. Kinda stupid though, putting it all outside made it easier to grab a bunch of shit at once. Joke’s on him, I guess.”
“Thanks.”
Steve shrugs. Pauses for a moment before he sets the boxes down and starts to rummage around in one. He bites his lip, eyeing Billy from where he’s crouched, something clutched in his hand. His scrutiny makes Billy tense.
“There something else?”
Jesus fucking Christ please don’t let it be about the porn mags he kept in a folder taped to the underside of his dresser.
It’s not.
It’s something so much harder to talk about.
Steve stands, and hesitantly—fingers pinched gently around his prize like he’s terrified of wrinkling it—hands Billy a polaroid.
One corner was bent at some point, the crease left behind cuts through the bottom of the image, across the sheets of a hospital bed. The woman in the centre of the photo looks exhausted, blonde waves stringy around her shoulders, dark shadows under her eyes, but she’s grinning brightly, cradling a baby bundled in blue.
He almost doesn’t recognize her without the sadness she wore like a veil later in life, and lingered in the tight creases around her eyes even when she smiled. But there’s no mistaking the similarities to the face he sees in the mirror every day. He hadn’t even realized how much he looks like her until now.
“Happy birthday,” Steve says quietly.
Billy startles, blinking back tears. “What?”
“It’s written on the back. The date it was taken, and everything.”
He stares, not bothering to wipe the tears from his cheeks.
Steve’s wringing his hands, his brow pinched and so fucking concerned, words spilling out of his mouth more hurriedly the longer Billy goes without saying anything. “I didn’t like, root through your personal things or anything—well, I guess I kind of did, but just to figure out what was salvageable. And that just. Fell out of some book I wanted to save. The. Uh. Something. By that hobbit guy, I dunno.”
That explains it, actually, he hasn’t read The Silmarillion in years. He packed it up in California without giving it a second look and hadn’t even bothered taking it out of the box he shoved it in, ‘cause it’s not like he had a proper bookshelf anyways. He must’ve saved the photo right after his mom left, tucked it away where his dad wouldn’t find it. And then forgot it existed. Fuck.
“But. Yeah. I…Look, Max and El got pretty excited when I said we should get you a cake or something. So. Be nice. I dunno what the deal is with you and birthdays, okay, but you’ve—you’ve had a rough year, I think we all deserve to celebrate the fact that you’re still here. ‘Cause we’re all really fucking glad that you are.”
Billy’s not sure what exactly made him think kissing Steve right then and there was a good idea, but the next thing he knows he’s got a fistful of the front of Steve’s dumb polo and a warm mouth against his and…
It takes one breathless moment for Steve to respond, with a desperate little noise in the back of his throat he presses in closer, arms coming up to wrap around Billy, and it’s fucking perfect.
For all of ten seconds before Billy remembers where they are and pulls back like he’s been burned, leaving Steve blinking blearily and swaying in place.
“Uh…”
“Thanks,” Billy says quickly, before Steve can speak, “for—fuck, for the picture. Thank you. I—” he thumbs at his bottom lip, but drops his hand when he catches Steve tracking the motion. “It means a lot.”
Steve nods, still looking a little dazed.
When he works himself up to turning away and getting his legs to work he’s prepared for the worst, expecting glares and awkward silence at best.
That’s not what he gets.
El is sneakily eating frosting, not a care in the world. Max is pointedly not looking at him and doing a very bad job of hiding her tiny smile. Robin grins at him and Steve, openly, knowingly. Joyce comes over and pats his arm, the corners of her eyes crinkled, while Will tries his hardest not to stare, something vulnerable hidden away in his big dark eyes. Jonathan is the only one who looks a little like he swallowed a lemon, but honestly it’s hard to tell if that’s just his face. Billy hangs out with him sometimes, but he’s not exactly an open book. He does quirk a bit of a smile when he notices Billy looking, however, and…
Billy is still tense. Unsure. There’s an atmosphere of quiet companionship in the room, something gentle and warm that Billy doesn’t know how to hold onto without breaking.
But he wants to figure it out, and that’s the part that surprises him.
There are some bumps. Some awkward pauses. The day isn’t perfect. But Steve rests a hand on the small of his back like he’s asking permission, and Max punches his arm and tells him that next year he’s getting something that took time to plan—just that little bit accusatory, sharp around the edges and well-intentioned like he’s come to expect from her—and El eats more of the cake than anyone else, grinning when Joyce shrugs helplessly at her request for permission.
It might not be perfect, but it’s good. And kind of fucking beautiful.

Introducing: Loire Ivy Porter
Tumblr media
***THIS HAS NOT BEEN THROUGH A TYPICAL EDITING PROCESS; ALL SHORTS ARE ROUGH DRAFTS***
"Sav please get the hell out my face!” Avery yelled at him. He was standing at her side doing breathing exercises as if he were the one having a baby. She wasn’t even in active labor.
They were out shopping when her water broke and he’d been acting a damn fool. First, he had the nerve to still pay for all their stuff while everyone was looking at him crazy, then he stopped to get something to eat on the way to the hospital. If Avery wasn’t hungry too she would’ve beat him up.
“I’m tryna help ya fat ass!”
“Do it look like she comin’ right now? Call me fat again! Matter fact, get out! Don’t come back until Lake get here!”
“He said not to leave you.”
“What did I say?”
“Your word don’t trump his nigga, fuck outta here.” Sav moved her over and laid down. Avery wanted to elbow him right in the mouth. “You nervous?” he asked, rubbing her big stomach.
“A little bit, I didn’t have to do all this with River so I don’t know what to expect. Ivy and Haze said it wasn’t hard.”
“You doin’ it natural, right?”
“I’m gonna try.”
“You gon’ be good, A.”
“I just want her to make it out,” Avery said, sadly.
“A, she gon’ be fine. Don’t worry bout that shit.”
Sav and Avery talked just about everything so he already knew she was afraid to give vaginal birth for the first time. He constantly told her not to stress about it.
Lake walked in and Avery instantly relaxed. Everything automatically felt better and her confidence went up ten notches. He bent down giving her a kiss and if she wasn’t about to have his daughter she would’ve pulled him on top of her and went to town.
“Get the fuck out her bed nigga!”
“Oh now since you here, I ain’t shit no more,” Sav scoffed, getting up. “I’m the one that bought you some food.”
“After you stood in self-checkout while I was leaking fluid every damn where!”
“He did what?” Lake asked and Sav ran out of the room. “Told your ass not to leave the fuckin’ house anyway, you don’t listen.”
“Was River okay?” Avery asked, ignoring what he had to say. It already happened now.
“Yea, she told me to give you this.” Lake went to one of the bags he brought in with him and handed Avery their daughters favorite alien plush. She started tearing up. River didn’t like doing anything without it.
“She...she wanted me to have it?”
“Mhm.”
“She loves me.”
“Of course she loves you, A. What the fuck?”
“Don’t act like you don’t see how she treats me.”
“She just a Daddy’s girl, that’s all.” Lake held her hand giving it a gentle kiss. “This one gon’ be worst,” he said, and Avery started bawling making him laugh.
“You just wait until I get me a son. We gon’ leave all three of y’all in the dust!”
“Did I miss anything?” Oceana came barging in. “Oh no,” she rolled her eyes at Avery. “She still up in this heifer.”
“Should I get an epidural?”
“No,” Oceana answered with the quickness. Avery wasn’t even talking to her. “Babies are supposed to be born natural. I pushed Lake big ass out when I was seventeen. No medicine, no nothing. Get in beast mode and thug it out.”
“What do you think, Lake?”
“I want you to do whatever makes you comfortable.”
“Now tell me what you really think,” Avery said making him laugh.
“The shit can lower your blood pressure, pushing can be harder, increase you tearing, my baby can have muhfuckin’ respiratory problems--”
“Mhm,” Avery laughed. “There’s my husband,” she said, knowing Lake only wanted to make her feel better the first time. He always did his research on shit then talked about it with Ivy and Avery knew he did not want her to get an epidural but would support whatever she chose.
“Auntie is hereeeee,” Ivy sang gliding in smelling like lemons.
“You smell good,” Oceana said, sniffing her.
“That’s my new product I was in the process of creating.” Ivy went to Avery’s side. “How are you feeling sissy?” she asked rubbing her belly.
“Nervous.”
“We got this,” Ivy held her hand, kissing it. “Don’t you worry.”
After about three hours the contractions started to kick Avery’s ass. She was sweating profusely, and Ivy put her hair up in a bun.
“Breathe through it,” Ivy said, all in Avery’s face, breathing on her neck.
“Ivy, I love you so much, but please back up off of me.”
“Oh my bad,” Ivy laughed getting up from the bed. She had her feet propped up comfortable as ever.
Avery closed her eyes trying not think about the pain and uncomfortableness. She was worried about her daughter. Lake was on the phone constantly telling everybody not to come up there, but they were already on the way. They didn’t want a big fuss about the new baby. It was already a lot of pressure on Avery.
“Hello, how are we doing?” the doctor knocked before coming in. “Avery, I know we’ve talked about the—”
“Just a second,” Avery squeezed Lake’s hand letting a contraction pass. “Ohhh my God.”
“How was that contraction on a scale from one to ten? One being little to no pain, ten being extremely painful.”
“A seven.”
“That’s it?” Lake asked her. “A, don’t lie.”
“I’m not, it hurt but if they’re all going to be like that, I can take them.”
“How about we check your cervix, hm?”
“Nah, I checked, she only at four.”
Avery gave the doctor a tight smile. She could tolerate Lake doing it because his fingers were long, but her doctors were small, and that added unnecessary discomfort and pain. Plus, Ivy told her they weren’t necessary, and she could refuse them.
“Okay well…we’re monitoring your contractions; they are getting pretty close. The baby is vertex which we love to see, so I’ll be back to check on you in a little or if that little sweetie decides she is ready sooner.”
“Thank you,” Avery said, and the doctor nodded leaving. “Lake, help me turn on my side.”
Avery looked at the entire set up for her baby. Lake grabbed her hand seeing all the worry on her face.
“It’s gonna be fine. She gonna be fine.”
After about another hour, Avery’s contractions got worst and worst. The nurses came in getting prepared. Everything was happening so fast she started yelling for everybody to stop touching her.
“It’s okay,” Lake talked her through the panic.
“No, I’m scared,” Avery cried and even the nurses had the look of empathy. She wasn’t loud or anything, simply fright covered her face.
“I know but I’m right here and I got you. We almost there. Let’s get her out, okay?” Lake spoke so soft to her. Everyone looked at each other smiling witnessing such a tender display of affection from a father to the woman he put in this position.
“Okay but I can’t push like this. I don’t feel comfortable at all. It’s hurting me more.”
“Would you like to get on all fours?” the doctor suggested.
“I could try.”
“That’s her favorite,” Lake just had to add, and Avery hit him. Everybody was cracking up. He and Ivy helped her get into doggy position while a nurse took off her belly monitor.
“Oh wow, mom, we are fully effaced and dilated,” the doctor was surprised Avery wasn’t complaining of pain anymore. The position she was in definitely brought her much more relief. “When you’re ready, give me one big push.”
“Lake, help me!” Avery yelled, as if he could do anything for her. Everyone in the delivery room were trying their best not to laugh. Ivy pushed on her back a little thinking it was doing something and Lake looked at her like she was dumb.
Avery lowered her top half a bit, laying both hands flat on the bed and pushed as hard as she could. Loire slipped right out and fell into the doctor’s arms, everyone’s jaw dropped.
“Oh shit!” Ivy covered her mouth.
“Was that it? She came out? Lake was that her?” Avery looked at him and he stood stunned.
“Yea…yea, that was her,” he laughed. Lake cut their daughter’s connection to Avery.
“WHAT?”
“Mom, you did amazing!” the doctor exclaimed. The afterbirth fell out when Avery yelled what. Everybody was crying laughing. That was the easiest birth they’d ever seen.
Avery was helped turning back on her bottom. She watched Lake pick their daughter up while the nurses were in the middle of doing their job.
“Sir, we have to—”
“Wait a second,” Lake told them, he felt his chest tighten in disbelief that he created the beautiful little human in his arms. He put their crying baby girl on Avery’s chest, and she stopped instantly while sucking on her fist.
Avery had tears in her eyes because she felt accomplished. Everything that was a complaint deemed worthy that very second. Nine months of worry, an extra twenty pounds, kankles, heartburn, and bad acne were worth every single second.
“I don’t be thinkin’ I can love you more than I already do then you give me blessings like this.” Lake kissed her then their daughter. He watched her go through a tough time being pregnant and after the son they loss, he was grateful she even wanted to do this all over again.
“I’m happy to do it for you,” Avery said full of sincerity. She’d give her husband a million kids if that’s what he wanted. Anything good, Lake deserved it.
Once Avery was taken to recovery and Lake finally let the nurses do their job, everyone was getting to see the new addition. Avery was propped up in bed while Lake sat beside her with their daughter.
“Oh my goodness...” Chi smiled, standing over them. “Look at her...Lake spit that girl right in A coochie!”
“He did,” Sav laughed, getting a good look at his niece. “She look just like you bro.”
“What’s her name?” Wreck asked.
“Loire Ivy Porter,” Avery said, smiling at her sister who started tearing up. She didn’t know they would give Loire her name.
“Really?” Ivy bawled. “Y’all just doin’ too much today,” she said fanning herself. She kissed Avery then gave Lake one. “Can I hold her?”
“No,” Lake answered dead ass serious and they all were dying. He was starting with the shit already.
“Don’t feel bad,” Avery laughed. “I only got to hold her once.”
“Where did Oceana go?” Ivy asked, sitting on her bed. She tried to touch Loire’s mass amount of hair and Lake turned her away.
“To get me some food, I’m hungry.” Avery looked around realizing someone was missing. “Where is Dem?”
“He said he’ll come see y’all when you go home,” Sav said. “That bitch gettin’ on his nerves.”
Nicole was not Nicole to any of them. She was “That Bitch” most of the time. Avery turned her nose up at the mention of her. She couldn’t stand Nicole even more especially for what she was putting Dem through just to see his child.
Everyone stayed for a while until Lake kicked them all out. Avery fell asleep and he sat in the dimly lit room holding what felt like everything. A few hours old and he could see himself all in Loire’s face too. It was weird staring at yourself in another human, something you created. He wondered if that’s how his dad felt when he was born. He pulled his phone out to call River. Vant answered but it was quickly snatched out of his hand.
“DADDY!” River screamed.
“Mommy had your baby sister.”
“I see!” River yelled with her face all in the camera. “I see Daddy!”
Lake flipped the camera around putting it on Loire and River really started tearing up. The phone looked like it pressed against her face. He could hear Vant laughing in the back.
“Bro, she kissin’ the phone,” Vant laughed. “Get your lips off my shit, River!”
“NO! My baby!” all of a sudden you saw little feet moving a mile a minute while Vant chase her all through the house. River was cracking up thinking it was game.
“I’ma whoop your lil bad ass!” Vant threatened. “Wreck come get this muhfu—”
The phone disconnected and Lake laughed at the craziness that was his daughter. His family period. He never thought it would get this big. His heart would feel so full. His life be this complete. Nobody would have been able to tell him five years ago he’d have all of this.
“Lake!” Ivy peeked her head in and he nodded. “It’s all set up. Avery gonna be so happy when she sees it.”
“Thank you.”
“No problem,” Ivy said, closing the door.
Avery yawned, trying to hide the smile on her face. She knew a push present awaited her when she got home. Staring at her husband though, Lake looked so at peace. Besides their children, it was the best gift ever. His smile. Simply him.
“Is she everything you thought?”
Lake always said how blessed he was to have her and his children, but he did so much more than he knew for Avery. Waking up every day to a man who loved her unconditionally was the gift that kept on giving. That’s why Avery would put her body through childbirth. That’s why she’d go to the ends of the earth fighting for Lake’s peace. He deserved so much, and she was happy to be a part of contributing to his happiness.
“More…thank you, A.”
“You are so welcome.”

Chapter 31
Spencer knocked on the LaMontagne’s front door.
He heard Jo screaming, “Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!” on the other side.
He chuckled, opening the door after hearing JJ yell “it’s open” from another room.
Jo bolted towards him and he scooped the little girl up in his arms.
“How excited are you to meet your baby brother and sister?” he grinned.
“This excited!” Jo outreached her arms to the widest they could possibly go.
“Well, they are very excited to meet you too. They are back at the hospital, resting with Mommy,” Spencer smiled.
“Can I come?” Henry asked.
“You’re going to come later Henry with your mom and dad plus the rest of the team,” Spencer explained.
JJ came around the corner, “Yes, Henry. We will go later. We’re going to give them some family time first.”
“Bye guys,” Spencer waved.
“Thank you Auntie JJ for letting me sleep over,” Jo said, “See you later, Henry!”
“Anytime for a kid with such good manners,” JJ smiled.
-
Spencer set Jo down right in front of the door to your hospital room.
“Okay so we are going to be extra gentle with the twins and Mommy and use our quiet voices,” Spencer reminded Jo.
Jo nodded and Spencer opened the door.
“Hi, Baby J,” you smiled, you were holding Ollie because you just finished breastfeeding him.
“Love, Ophelia is in her bassinet right there if you want to get her,” you told Spencer.
Spencer wasted no time picking Ophelia up because he already missed the babies after just a quick ride to JJ’s. He sat right on the edge of the bed.
Jo crawled into Spencer’s lap so she was right underneath him holding the baby.
“This is Ophelia, Princess. She was born 3 minutes earlier than Ollie,” Spencer rested the baby in her lap so she could hold him with his help.
“Hi, Ophelia,” Jo whispered, leaning down to give the baby a little kiss on the forehead.
“Oh that’s very sweet of you,” you smiled, watching the adorable scene unfold in front of you.
Meanwhile, Spencer was a blubbering mess like his body had gone into cuteness overload. You handed him a kleenex.
Oliver made a soft whine in your arms.
“Jo, I think your brother wants to see you now. You will have plenty of time with the both of them in the future, I promise,” you said.
Jo gently crawled into your lap and you set Ollie down in her lap, “So this is Oliver or Ollie for short.”
“Like the baby elephant in the book?”
“Yes, that was all your idea,” you confirmed.
Jo pressed another soft kiss to Oliver’s forehead.
“I love them a lot,” Jo beamed, switching her focus back and forth between the two babies.
“Daddy and I got you something to wear when the team comes if you want, Baby J,” you motioned to Spencer who grabbed a gift wrapped in dinosaur wrapping paper.
You got Jo a little something because you didn’t want her to feel left out since she was used to having you and Spencer’s full undivided attention but now she was going to have to share it with the twins.
Jo unwrapped the gift, revealing a white shirt with ‘big sis’ written on it in colorful letters.
Jo beamed, “I wanna put it on now please.”
Spencer handed you Ophelia before he helped Jo change into her new shirt. Then, she leaned over the babies in your arms and began blowing raspberries to entertain them. They couldn’t laugh yet but they seemed to be enjoying it. Ollie was staring up at his sister curiously while Ophelia was gurgling happily.
-
You heard a rapid knocking on the door and it swung open as soon as Spencer said “Come in!”
A flash of glitter and pink letting out an excited squeal sped past him. Penelope was in front of you before you knew it. She was setting two teddy bears with sweater vests and a bouquet of flowers down on your table.
“These are for the babies,” she gestured to the fuzzy bears, “and those are for you,” she pointed to the bouquet.
“Thank you so much,” you smiled, “you can put them in the twins’ bassinets if you want.”
“I don’t get a gift,” Spencer fake pouted.
“How many babies did you push out of your vagina yesterday, Boy Wonder?” Penelope retorted.
“Well technically she had a C-section but point taken,” he grinned, “The babies are the greatest gift I could ever get anyways.”
“Okay, names! I need names to call my godbabies!” she demanded.
“Yes since we have kind of unofficially decided that Jo’s godparents are JJ and Will. You and Derek will be the godparents of the twins,” you smiled, “whose names are…” you looked to Jo.
“That one is Oliver or Ollie. I named him!,” she proudly pointed to the little baby in your arms.
“And this is Ophelia,” Spencer tilted the baby in his arms slightly to give the team a better look at her face.
“Awwww,” the team smiled.
“Okay, everyone will get a chance but we’ll let the godparents get first dibs at holding the twins,” you said, starting to hand Ollie to Penelope.
“Wait!” Spencer exclaimed, “Please use the hand sanitizer first. I don’t know where you people have been,” Spencer joked.
Spencer bought baby-safe hand sanitizer in advance and put it in the hospital bag. He was very insistent on everyone using it to keep the twins healthy.
After everyone passed around the sanitizer, Penelope reached for Ollie once again, “Gimme this little cutie pie.”
Spencer carefully passed Ophelia to Derek.
“Hi, Ollie. I’m going to have a lot of fun spoiling you,” Penelope beamed.
“Derek, are you crying?” Hotch asked.
“No,” Derek adamantly denied, still not breaking his gaze away from Ophelia in his arms, “It’s just allergies.”
“Oh, then I should probably pass Ophelia to Emily so you don’t get her ‘sick’,” Spencer grinned.
“No! Five more minutes,” Derek insisted, “Ophelia, I’m your Uncle Derek. Can you say De-rek?”
“Morgan, she was born 16 hours, 35 minutes, and 53 seconds ago. She is not going to be talking already,” Spencer stated.
“Hey, you never know with your smarty pants genes, Kid.”
“Reid, coincidentally, today marks the end of your year leave from the BAU. I’m going to need an answer by the end of the day if you’re returning or not,” Hotch stated, “We’ll support you either way but I already have a feeling about your answer.”
Spencer made eye contact with you and then he looked at Jo leaning over Ollie in Penelope’s arms and JJ and Emily playing peek-a-boo with Ophelia in Derek’s arms.
“As much as I love you guys, I can’t come back. I think my heart would physically be ripped out of my chest if I had to leave my family for an extended period of time,” Spencer chuckled.
You smiled softly up at him and he grabbed your hand, kissing it softly with all the admiration and love in the world.

Title: turns out i got two
Relationship: Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanoff
Summary:
My whole life I didn't think I have any family. Turns out I got two.
Adventures with both sides of Natasha's family!
ft. romanogers babies, cool Aunt Yelena, Grandpa Alexei and Grandma Melina, and more!
Also on AO3!
“Shhh, don’t wake up your mama!”
Natasha crinkled her nose at the noise around her, still partly muted from the nap she was just waking up from. She wasn’t sure what time it was - just that she closed her eyes in the middle of an old movie and she Steve were watching, knowing damn well it was just background noise while they cuddled in silence. One thing she knew for sure was that she was alone on the couch now but a blanket was draped over her. Giggles erupted next to her ear and she fought against a smile tugging at her lips.
“I think mama’s awake anyway,” a voice answered, an obviously failed attempt at a whisper.
“I think she’s still sleeping,” Natasha joked, peeking an eye open and seeing James right in front of her. He was grinning ear to ear, but there were specks of mud on his face. “James? Did you not listen to Nana and played with the pigs again ?” Fully awake now, Natasha sat up and took James’ face in her hands, leaning in to kiss his forehead. He giggled, throwing his arms around Natasha’s neck for a hug. “Honey,” Natasha pulled away fractionally, “you smell stinky.”
James nervously laughed and tried to explain. “I might have fallen in the pen.” Natasha narrowed her eyes, seeing right through her son’s lie. She didn’t have to be a spy to know that he’s lying - and, judging by the sheepish smile on his face, James knew he can’t fool his mother either.
“Whatever happened to watching him?” Natasha asked Alexei, her voice stern but teasing. No matter how many rules for the kids she tried to establish, it seems that they go out the window once the grandparents are in charge. She knows it should annoy her, yet she can’t help but find it cute. Melina and Alexei are only lenient on the little things anyway, respecting major rules that Steve and Natasha has laid out for their kids.
Looking up from the newspaper he was reading at the kitchen counter, Alexei’s eyes widened. “What do you want me to do! He said he fell! Right, James?” Alexei argued, throwing his hands up and winking - obviously wanting James to make his mom believe that he didn’t deliberately play with his grandma’s experiment - er, pet - pigs. James giggled and nodded, loving his little game with his grandfather. Natasha’s convinced the two of them spending so much time together will drive her to an early grave.
“Yeah, I don’t think even your dad could be convinced of that, bud. Go, take a shower please.” He nodded and ran up the stairs to the bathroom. Yawning and stretching her arms, Natasha turned to Alexei. “What time did you guys get back? And where’s everyone else?” She eyed the clock and saw that it was nearing 7pm. Melina and Alexei took James and Sarah to the Cleveland Zoo earlier in the day, insisting that the kids stop by there before they go back to New York the next day.
Melina and Alexei’s farm in the suburbs of Cleveland became a frequent vacation spot for Steve, Natasha, and the kids. Ever since the Red Room was taken down, Melina and Alexei decided to go back to Ohio and settle down - if that’s what they want to call it. The two have been working with Yelena in tracking down more Widows and other victims of the Red Room - as well as running covert ops in taking down child-trafficking rings - from their farm. Yelena is more of a nomad - being more active in the field by traveling all over the world, although she usually stops by the farm or Natasha and Steve’s house in New York.
“We only have been here for an hour. Steve’s helping Melina with some stuff in the back. Sarah does not want to leave her grandmother’s side,” Alexei smiled fondly. Sarah has thoroughly stolen her grandfather’s heart and it shows.
Natasha nodded, checking her phone for messages. “Is Yelena stopping by? The kids haven’t seen her in a while.”
“Eh, you know her. She might, she might not.” Natasha looked up at that, narrowing her eyes at him. Alexei put his hands up again. “I don’t know. She said she will try. I did not want to put the kids’ hopes up so I did not tell them.”
Natasha smirked. “That sounds like her.” She stood up and headed to the back door to see if she could spot Sarah and Steve. The little girl is sitting on the back of a pony, with Melina standing next to her with a hand perched on her back - although Natasha has a rising suspicion that the pony is a little bit too behaved for a regular farm animal. And Steve is - oh - now breaking logs in half. For what, Natasha isn’t sure, but all she knows is that he makes a damn good sight to see.
“I used to look like that, you know. Maybe even bigger.” Alexei, who Natasha didn’t notice have moved next to her, suddenly piped up, seemingly following her line of sight. “Your mom - you know, those years we lived here - she liked it, I could tell.” Natasha wrinkled her nose, frowning as she looked up at Alexei. “What, what? I’m just saying. He’s not the only super soldier in the house. I’m just saying. I put on some weight but I still look good, no? Melina still thinks so.”
“Okay, calm down. I don’t really need all the gory details.” Natasha shook her head, looking back at Steve. He’s almost through his pile of whole logs, his shirt now almost completely drenched in sweat.
“But that’s my point - there are still gory details,” Alexei winked at Natasha’s overly-dramatic shudder. “You know. If you two need more weekends alone, Melina and I don’t mind having the kids over. You just have to tell us.”
Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, Natasha turned to meet Alexei’s eyes. “Ha ha, I get it. As weird as what you’re trying to say - thank you. I appreciate it, really.” He grinned, his right arm reaching around Natasha to envelop her in a one-arm hug. It took a while for Natasha to let Alexei start hugging her again, and once she did, he never let a moment to do so pass.
Natasha caught Sarah’s eyes when the latter looked up, waving with her free hand. She heard Sarah squeal and say something to Melina, who nodded at the little girl. Sarah brought her arms out and was lifted off the pony by her grandmother before making a mad dash to the back door where Natasha was standing. Alexei slid the door open just in time to hear the “Mommy!!!” screech coming from Sarah, with said little girl running into her mom’s open arms.
“Hi honey! How was your time at the zoo today?” Natasha asked while hugging Sarah tightly. The little girl hugged her back with all her might before letting go, excited to answer her mom’s question.
“I had so much fun! Grandma taught me about animals!”
“Go on, tell your mama which one is your favorite,” Alexei prodded, reaching down to help straighten Sarah’s hair.
“I liked the monkeys! They remind me of Rocky,” the girl replied, making Natasha sputter. Ah, yes. Sarah and her ever-fascination with Rocket Raccoon will never not amuse any of the other Avengers.
“Make sure to tell him that, honey,” Steve suddenly piped up, having walked back with Melina. He stood next to Natasha and planted to swift kiss to her lips.
Natasha wrinkled her nose, flicking his arm. “You stink, go shower after your son,” she waved him off, sending him laughing up to their room to get changed.
“And do you remember what animal group monkeys are a part of?” Melina asked, kneeling on one knee next to Sarah.
Sarah paused for a minute, scrunching up her brows in the same way as Steve often would when thinking - something Natasha would often tease him about - before answering. “Primates!”
This made Melina beam and kiss her forehead before standing up. “Very good, baby! You’re the smartest little girl I know!” she praised, making Sarah giggle. Turning to Natasha and Alexei, she inclined her head to the kitchen. “Come on, dinner should be ready soon.”
Once Steve and James got back and helped set the table, they all gathered around the table to eat. Melina made Borscht and Stroganoff - both of which are favorites of James and Sarah. They were laughing about how Sarah tried to ride one of the ponies at the zoo thinking it would be as tame as Melina’s pony, only to have it get spooked and run away when the doorbell rang. The adults all exchanged a look as Alexei stood up to answer the door.
“Who’s that grandma?” James asked, glancing up before taking a bite of his food.
“Your favorite aunt, it’s who!” A voice bellowed, followed by a tapping of feet.
“Auntie Yelena!” Both children chorused, rushing out of their seats to greet their aunt before she even reached the kitchen. “Fanny!” they squealed once the dog found them and started circling their feet.
Yelena walked into the kitchen with Sarah and James latched on both of her sides, Fanny following right on their heels. “Hello, everybody. Thanks for not waiting for me before eating,” she deadpanned.
“We didn’t even know you were coming.” Melina answered, scooping more soup into Steve’s bowl.
Yelena’s mouth dropped. “Natasha knew! I texted her. This is so unfair,” she huffed and sat down on the available seat next to Steve once the kids let go of her.
“What? I wanted it to be a surprise!” Natasha argued, smirking at her sister. “Isn’t that what you would’ve wanted?” she asked before eating a spoonful of Stroganoff. Yelena pouted, taking a piece of bread and biting into it.
Conversation flowed nicely throughout dinner, and it wasn’t until everyone moved into the living room while eating dessert did Yelena start braiding Sarah’s hair. “Are you ever going to color your hair, honey?” She asked, her fingers swiftly yet delicately weaving through the little girl’s hair.
“Oh please, Yelena, she’s six. Don’t give her any ideas,” Natasha waved her off, passing the bowl of ice cream to Steve.
Melina laughed, getting everyone’s attention. “It’s funny you say that, you know. Considering you would put temporary dyes in Yelena’s hair when you were younger. Not to mention your blue hair,” she nudged Alexei’s side, making him snort. “Remember?”
Steve looked at Natasha, his mouth dropping fractionally. “You had blue hair?” That got James’ attention too, as he turned to them from the TV.
Natasha narrowed her eyes at Melina before looking at Steve. “You’ve seen me with how many different hair colors already?”
“Yes, but that’s different because those are for missions, so it doesn’t mean the same. You had honest-to-god blue hair?” he tried asking again.
“Didn’t you bring the photo album with you, mama?” Yelena asked, looking up at Melina.
Melina nodded and stood up from the couch, plucking the album from one of her bookshelves. “Here, see?” She brought it over to where Steve and Natasha were sitting, setting it on the coffee table in front of them.
The photo album looked worn but the pictures were still clear, surprisingly. It contained the tale of their undercover family in Ohio, yet it all felt very real. Steve smiled softly at a young Natasha - he’s seen some of this pictures before, but the photobooth shots of a young her and Yelena have been new additions to the album. He figured they might have had it restored because it looked crisp and blown up.
“Wow, she wasn’t kidding. You did have blue hair,” he remarked, making Natasha glare at him. “What? It looks good! You looked so… punk.”
“She does have a flair for the dramatic,” Yelena agreed, tying Sarah’s braid in place. “There, all done! Show your mama.”
Sarah skipped to Natasha’s side, showing off her new braid and getting praises from her parents. She looked down to where everyone was looking at, noting the pictures for the first time. “Is that you, Aunt Yelena?” she pointed to a picture of a little girl holding a box in front of a tree.
Yelena knelt down next to the table to look at which photo she was pointing at and stifled a laugh. The ends of her hair in that picture have tints of pink in them, probably from one of Natasha’s so-called “experiments” back then - where she would usually test out a color on Yelena’s hair too before committing all of it on hers. She nodded at Sarah, “Yes, honey, that’s me. That’s your mom next to me.” she pointed at where a young Natasha was smiling brightly at the camera.
“Your hair looked like candy!”
Looking smug, Yelena leaned back to look at her sister in the eye, who was already shaking her head. “Well, honey, it’s a good thing your mom knows a lot about hair colors.”
Steve snorted at the inside joke between them just as Sarah started rattling off a list of colors she wants to try. It sounds like she might just be listing every color she can recall, but Yelena knows Natasha has at least found her new muse to experiment hair colors with.

(smau at the end)
Last night you got an emergency phone call from your dad saying that your mom was currently in the hospital. And because your sister just recently moved out of their house (to Canada to be specific), your dad called you to help out.
Of course it was urgent, having you to hurriedly pack after the phone call and leaving the morning after.
Which is right now.
“Sohyun’s outside,” you tell Jin, holding onto your luggage. Sohyun offered to pick you up and take you to the train station since she was the one opening the bakery today. She said, and I quote: “Jin’s going to take you? Wouldn’t you have to bring all three kids with you? It’s 6 in the morning, I’ll just take you!”
A yawn escaped out of Jin’s mouth, he was sitting on the couch with Haneul on his chest. All three kids were awake to watch you off.
“Okay,” Jin says, standing up from his seat. Minseok and Soojin get up as well, running to the front door. Minseok opens it for you.
“Mommy, when are you coming back?” Soojin asks, hugging the door frame as you walk past.
“I’ll be back in a week, don’t worry, daddy will stay and take care of you three,” you tell her, stopping right outside the door.
“Will we be going to work with daddy?” Minseok asks you. You don’t know why they’re asking you when Jin is right behind them.
“That or daddy will work at home,” you tell him. “Now give me a hug and kiss, I have to go so I don’t miss my train.” You let go of your luggage, kneeling down to hug your kids, giving them both a kiss on the cheek. “Be good and listen to daddy okay? This is his first time taking care of all three of you by himself for as long as a week, don’t stress him out.” This was also the first time you’ll be away from your kids for this long and this far.
“We’ll be good mommy,” Minseok says, smiling up at you as you stand up.
“I know you will,” you say, booping his nose. “But make sure your little sister and brother do too.”
“I’m always good!” Soojin yells, raising her arms up.
“Sure,” you laugh, ruffling her already messy hair. You then face Jin and Haneul, walking up to them to give them a big hug. Jin wraps an arm around you, placing his cheek on your head that you placed on his chest so you’re then facing Haneul.
“Especially you, be good okay?” You say, raising your eyebrows at him. He responds with a few blinks. Then a big yawn. Jin pulls his head away from you to place a kiss on your forehead, making you look up and he presses another one on your lips.
“I can take care of them no worries,” He tells you. “Now go, Sohyun’s waiting.” You nod, leaning over to give Haneul a kiss on the cheek as well.
You gave Jin one more kiss before you pulled away from them, grabbing your luggage and walking off.
“BYE MOMMY!” Soojin yells. You turn around and wave at them. Soojin is frantically waving while all three of your boys are waving sleepily.
Let’s hope that Jin remembers to take your two oldest to school today.
-
*ring ring!*
“I’ll pick you two up later okay? Make sure you finish your lunch, I love you!” Jin yells out of his car window as he dropped off Minseok and Soojin at school.
“We love you!” They both yelled before running off to their friends.
Jin rolled the windows up before picking up his phone, it was Yeonjun.
“Good morning sir! I stopped by to grab coffee before heading to the building. I’ll bring it up to your office when I get there. I also have your schedule for the day and--”
“Oh, Yeonjun, I forgot to tell you, but something urgent happened last night with Yn’s mom and she had to leave for Gwangju this morning. I’ll be working from home today, do you mind just sending me today’s agenda?” Jin says. He puts the phone on speaker, placing it on the passenger seat and driving out of the school’s drop off.
“Oh, I see. Yes, I’ll send it to you right now sir. Do you want me to come over and help out?” Yeonjun says. Jin tilts his head to the side, thinking. He looked at Haneul from the rearview mirror and, for once, he was calm and quiet.
“I should be okay. It’s just Haneul I’m taking care of right now. Thank you though Yeonjun, I’ll call you if anything-- oh and are you already at the building?”
“Yes sir, I just pulled up umm I have your co--”
“You should give the coffee to our receptionist,” Jin says. You're sure that Yeonjun can see the smile Jin had on his face right now, just by listening to his voice.
“You mean Miya? She’s just a friend-- coworker even,” Yeonjun responds, nervousness lacing his voice.
“Sure, sure she is. Well then you shouldn’t even have any worries giving them to her since she’s just a “coworker” right?” Jin says.
“Good bye sir,” Yeonjun says, hanging up the phone.
“Haneul-ah, do you want to stop by Auntie Sohu’s?” Jin says, looking at the rearview again. Haneul’s face instantly lights up and he starts smiling and kicking his feet.
“Yes yes!” He yells. Jin smiles, taking a left and driving straight to the iconic 24/7 Heaven. He figured that if he starts off the day well with Haneul, maybe he’ll be good for the remainder of the day. At least while Jin is working.
I guess you can say he’s bribing his son with dough.. cookie dough... baked cookie dough.. cookies, okay yeah he’s bribing Haneul with cookies.
-
Jin opens the door to the bakery, letting little Haneul run it.
Haneul waves at the workers, they knew him at this point. Although Haneul is raising his head, looking around for a certain someone.
“Haneul!” yelled Rina as she walked out of the kitchen. “Good morning~” She says, waving at him from behind the counter. Rina then looks up as she sees a figure coming closer.
She burst out laughing right when her eyes landed on Jin.
“What?” Jin asks, quite offended that that’s how she reacted to seeing him.
“Dude,” she says, pointing at Jin. “Did you mean to come in like that?” Jin frowns, looking down at what she was pointing at. His eyes widened when he saw what he was wearing. His blue pajama set with the super hero masks all over. He scratches his head.
“I guess I got caught up with making sure the kids got dressed and ready for school, I forgot to check myself..”
Rina waves her hand in front of her, “no worries, Jungkook once walked out of the house without pants on to walk Sian to school. It happens.”
-
“Say thank you to Auntie Rin,” Jin says, carrying Haneul. He had his arms hugging a small bag of cookies.
“Thank chuu~” He says, holding up a little finger heart.
“You’re welcome,” Rina says, waving at them. “I’ll see you two soon.” The two walked out together and made their way back to the car.
“Can we go to Uncle Taetae now,” Haneul says, reaching into the bag. “I want to draw.”
Jin shakes his head. “Daddy has to go to work now, you can draw when we get home.” Haneul pouts. Taehyung recently opened up a small art school where he gives little art lessons to young kids, maybe even adults. Anyone is welcome really. But it’s aimed towards kids. Okay in all honesty, it’s for kids. But Taehyung couldn’t say no to the parents who wanted to join.
And by parents I mean the moms of the group.
Anyways, since The Scenery opened, you often took Haneul there while his siblings were in school. It felt like a little preschool as he was able to play with other kids and he was pretty good at listening to Taehyung whenever he was teaching him. He’s definitely going to be the artist out of them three.
It was a quiet walk to their car, but all of a sudden Jin hears sniffles coming from Haneul. He furrows his brows as he looks down at his youngest.
Silent tears were streaming down his soft cheeks.
“Oh- Why are you crying?” Jin asks. They got to his car and Haneul wasn’t answering, but continued to sniffle. Jin opens the back door and places Haneul in his car seat, buckling him up. Haneul continued to sniffle, wiping his eyes with his little fists.
“Haneul-ah,” Jin says. Haneul refused to make eye contact with his dad, keeping his eyes down instead. “Haneul,” Jin repeats. “Why are you sad?”
“I want-- I want mommy,” he says in a low voice. Jin sighs.
“Is it because we can’t go to Uncle Taehyung’s right now?” Jin says, Haneul nods. Jin stood there for a bit, thinking.
He knew that he could just take Haneul to The Scenery and drop him off there, come back when he’s done with his meetings or when he needs to pick up his oldests, but it didn’t feel right. He can just make Haneul happy, taking him to Tae’s, and be able to do his work peacefully, but it felt wrong. It would be a win win for both of them, but deep down, he knew you wouldn’t want that. As much as possible he wants to be with the kids, even if he has to work at the same time. I mean, that’s what you do.
“Okay well why don’t we compromise,” Jin says, knowing well that Haneul has no idea what that word even means. “If you come to work with me, we can go to Uncle Tae’s after, deal?” Jin offers Haneul his hand to shake and Haneul grabs it, not knowing exactly what he just agreed to.
-
“Mr. Kim I sent you the link to your meeting, it should be starting in approximately ten minutes,” Yeonjun says over the phone. Jin was currently sitting at his desk with his laptop open in front of him. No longer in his pajamas by the way, he’s now in his white dress shirt and tie.
“Okay, I’m logging in right now, thanks again Yeonjun.” Jin clicks on the link that Yeonjun sent him, entering the meeting that he had with Mr. Lee. They had to discuss his new location that was opening in Busan.
“Alright Haneul, I set up your little table over there for you to draw. My meeting shouldn’t take too long so just draw for a bit and then we can go to Uncle Taetae’s,” Jin says, putting Haneul down as he was previously sitting in his lap.
“Good morning Mr. Lee,” Jin says as soon as he got into the meeting, immediately seeing Mr. Lee’s face on the screen.
Haneul walks to his small table, he looks over at his dad and sees him smiling as he is conversing with his business partner. He turns to the piece of paper in front of him and starts to doodle.
~
An hour and a half passes by, which in baby time is FOREVER, and Haneul begins to get bored. His dad was still not done talking to Mr. Lee.
Haneul decided that he was over drawing and that he didn’t want to go to Uncle Tae’s anymore. He just spent an hour and a half doing what he would be doing at The Scenery and he’s tired of it.
Haneul picks out his best drawing and walks up to his dad.
“Daddy!” Haneul yells, holding up his drawing. It was a bunch of scribbles and shapes, but, if you looked very hard, it kind of looked like a nice house next to a big green tree. “All done!”
Jin looks down and laughs, turning back to the screen. “I’m sorry sir, I’m currently on daddy duty so I have my son with me here.”
“Oh it’s alright, can I see him?” The older man asks. Jin nods his head, turning to the side to pick up Haneul and having him sit on his lap.
“Haneul this is Mr. Lee, he’s helping us open up another building in Busan. Say hi,” Jin says. Haneul shyly waves at the screen, then he turns around and wraps his arms around Jin’s neck.
“Oh he’s a shy one isn’t he,” Mr. Lee says, smiling widely on the screen. “He reminds me of my youngest grandson. He’s just like that.”
“He’s usually not so shy, I think he just misses his mom and isn’t used to me being home alone with him like this,” Jin explains. “Haneul-ah,” he says, turning his head to look at Haneul. “Daddy’s just going to finish up okay, you can go finish your drawings.” Haneul whines in response, turning his head to the side, away from Jin’s face. Jin laughs awkwardly towards the camera.
“I’m sorry about this,” he tells Mr. Lee.
“Don’t worry about it, it’s okay.”
“Haneul can you go down please?” Jin whispers to Haneul, he mumbles a small ‘no’. Jin sighs, smiling back up at the screen. “I’m afraid we’re going to just have to continue this meeting like this sir.”
-
Finally, Jin’s meeting ends and he closes his laptop shut. Fortunately, there wasn’t much left for him to do the rest of the day. Majority of today’s schedule was just photoshoots where he did not have to be in attendance. Other meetings were postponed to a later date, so now he was free for any father-son bonding. Although if he was at his office in his building right now, paperwork is what he would be doing.
Jin pats Haneul’s back, “you want to go to Uncle Tae’s now?” Jin waited for a response but all he could hear was light snoring.
Haneul had his head resting on Jin’s shoulder while one arm was wrapped around his neck and the other was holding on to his drawing. Jin grabs the drawing from Haneul’s little hands, placing it on his desk. He then gets up from his seat and makes his way to the living room.
It wasn’t often that Jin was home alone this early with the kids. Actually, it was almost noon already, he should be preparing lunch for himself and Haneul.
“Haneul?” Jin coos, patting his son’s back in order to wake him up. Haneul doesn’t budge, instead cuddling closer into Jin’s shoulder. “Aigoo~” Jin looked at the time and there were still a few more hours until they had to go pick up Minseok and Soojin. “Alright, maybe we could nap before we pick up your siblings,” he says, walking to the couch and slowly sitting down so he doesn’t wake his baby up. “Just for an hour,” he says, as he lays his back down on the couch. “Then… then we can get your siblings..”
Right when he shut his eyes, he was gone.

Our Future - PoppyCas
Keiran's been left to babysit his little sister for a few hours, nothing could go wrong, or could it? Luckily Poppy is on hand to save him, getting her thinking about families, the future she wants to start with Casteel.
*****
"Your majesty!" Poppy whirled around at the shout, still not entirely accustomed to the title, but smiled warmly at the young wolven running towards her,
"What can I do for you, Laurie?" She asked, chuckling as he shifted to wolven form and back again, shaking his head to regain his bearings,
"Lord Contou asked me to find you,"
"Kieran? He'll laugh to hear you call him that," she chuckled,
"but he is, isn't he?"
"Technically, but I don't think he's ever used that official title, even since we made him advisor,"
"Oh, well, he said he needed your help with something, he didn't say what, but he's waiting at his parents' house."
"Thank you, Laurie, I'll head over there now, if you see him, let Cas know where I've gone." She held up a hand as Laurie made to run off again, "If you see him, don't go out of your way, he'll find us,"
"Yes, your majesty," he muttered, but smiled and waved at Poppy when he reached the edge of the garden, and Poppy resisted the urge to laugh as Laurie vanished. It wouldn't take long to get to Jasper and Kirha's house from here, but she did let out a sigh at the sight of the freshly-planted night-blooming roses, she'd come and check on them later this evening. There was something about Evaemon in the spring that had completely captured her heart, perhaps it was the way that the breeze ruffled through her hair, the scent of flowers floating all around her. Perhaps it was the way that her people smiled and waved when she passed them in the street, but perhaps it was simply the feeling of peace, of safety. She hardly noticed her feet moving, following the same path that she'd walked a thousand times now, at least until she found herself at the Contous' door.
She let herself in, calling Kieran's name, but froze at the sight before her,
"I need your help," Poppy struggled to hold in a laugh at the sight of him holding his baby sister at arms-length, covered in what she hoped was baby food, surrounded by discarded toys. She blinked a few times in surprise, but quietly closed the door, and took the child from Kieran's arms,
"Oh, sweetie, what's he done to you?" She crooned, gently rocking her from side to side,
"Me? Look at what she's done!"
"She's two, Kieran, you're what, two-hundred?"
"Something like that," he muttered, and Poppy snorted with laughter, carrying the child through to the kitchen, carefully cleaning her up, and tickling her when she squirmed, so that she squealed in delight. Kieran sheepishly followed her, still complaining that babies were impossible,
"Go clean up the living room," Poppy ordered, "I'll deal with her,"
"Thank you," she made a face when he kissed her cheek,
"You smell like baby vomit, go shower as well,"
"Not my fault," Kieran insisted, "I don't know babies, Netta was supposed to help, but she got delayed in Spessa's End,"
"Uh-huh," Poppy hummed, "Go clean up," she didn't wait to see if he obeyed before slipping out of the room, and disappearing up the stairs to find a change of clothes for the toddler now wriggling in her arms. "Shhh," she hushed, humming a tune quietly, trying to quieten her down, just long enough to get a clean set of clothes on before wriggling away and dodging Poppy's attempts to catch her. Poppy stopped chasing her, and cocked her head to the side, laughing as the little girl mimicked her, staring at her with those brilliant blue eyes, "Come here," Poppy held out her arms, laughing again when the child shook her head,
"Don't want to," she giggled,
"Come to Auntie Poppy," in that moment of hesitation Poppy lunged forwards and scooped her up, "Do you want to play in the garden?" In a heartbeat, she wasn't holding a child, but a wriggling wolven pup, and she set her down on the ground, laughing again as she raced round her feet, her tail wagging uncontrollably. Kieran was waiting at the bottom of the stairs, "We're going to play in the garden," Poppy explained, grinning at Kieran's shocked look,
"How did you catch her?" He whispered,
"Magic," Poppy chuckled, "You just need to learn to cope with children,"
"I can cope with children," he complained,
"Cas doesn't count," Poppy shot over her shoulder, following Kieran's sister into the garden.
"Hey!" She turned at her husband's voice, "I am not a child,"
"Go and prove it then, she's in the garden," Casteel and Kieran shared a look, but he finally shrugged and passed Poppy to reach the door to the garden. Her heart swelled at the way he immediately took to the task, letting the howling pup pounce on him, and bat at him with her paws. She leaned against the doorway, and ignored Kieran's knowing look,
"You want one," he teased,
"Shut up, we agreed to wait a while,"
"Tell him, if you want one now, just tell him, he's only waiting because you wanted a bit of time to learn to be Queen and to live peacefully first, if you've decided you're ready, just tell him."
"I don't know, maybe he wants time,"
"Maybe, but if you don't tell him you're ready, how can he decide if he is?" Poppy rolled her eyes,
"Now who's asking questions," but Kieran was right, she did want one, she really wanted one, and she knew that Casteel did too, but the thought of it, of their child still frightened her a bit, but in a good way she supposed. She turned her attention back to where joy and contentment was practically radiating off her husband where he was now playing peekaboo with a mortal toddler. Her screams and squeals of delight melted Poppy's heart, and she was so absorbed with watching that she didn't notice the door behind them opening,
"Kieran roped you two in then, did he?" Kirha nudged her son's shoulder as she spoke, "I should have known better than to think he'd actually cope on his own,"
"Mom! I can cope,"
"Then why are Poppy and Casteel here?" Jasper teased, "We can't even go out for lunch without you needing help," Kieran narrowed his eyes and Poppy chuckled again,
"Lunch? You mean all the mess I walked into was just from about an hour?" Kieran grunted, trying to dismiss her attention, but all he managed was to confirm her question.
"Mama!" Kirha grinned as her daughter practically leapt into her arms, "I've been playing with Auntie Poppy, and Uncle Cassy," Poppy snorted at the toddler attempt to pronounce Casteel's name, but politely refused Kirha's offer to stay for dinner, claiming that they'd promised to eat with Casteel's parents that evening, even if she was just trying to avoid adding any extra stress to her life.
*****
The night-blooming roses were absolutely beautiful, they'd taken perfectly, surrounding a pond that glowed silver in the moonlight. Poppy sighed to herself, running a hand through the cool water,
"C'mon, what's the matter?" She shrugged, still not quite sure how to explain her thoughts, "Poppy," Casteel gently turned her chin to face him, "You've been quiet all day, tell me what's on your mind,"
"I don't know," she muttered, "This is lovely," she gestured to the roses, to the rest of the gardens, "Our people are safe, happy,"
"And you're not?"
"No, I am, I just, it's like there's something else I want." She paused for a moment, trying to think about her next words, careful not to end up pushing Casteel into something he might not want yet, "Earlier, at the Contous' place, it just felt right, you know?"
"I do know," Casteel murmured, "You think you're ready?" Poppy nodded,
"I am ready, I want a family, with you, I never really had a chance to think about what I wanted, I assumed I'd never be able to have children, to choose my life, and now we're safe, we have time, I want to. I chose you, and now I want to choose our family." Casteel didn't speak, simply smiled, both dimples appearing, and leaned forward, until his and Poppy's noses were almost touching,
"I want to choose a family too," Poppy's heart leapt when Casteel closed the gap between them, pulling her in by her waist, a hand diving into her hair as he slanted his mouth over hers. Poppy blindly grasped at his shirt, clinging on as she met him move for move, and sighed when he finally pulled back and tucked her into his side, "We should probably get started then," he murmured, chuckling at the way Poppy squirmed slightly at the suggestion, but grinned, and practically dragged him back to their bedroom.

It's been four years since Taryn decided the mortal world would be a more suitable place to raise her child than Elfhame. Even if her sister was now High Queen, the fairies would still make life hard for her and her baby. Maybe not on purpose, she admits it. But magic runs wild, free and unstoppable. Used to it, the Fae Folk barely notices the dangers. And frankly, they don't care. Not allowed to use it on humans as cruelly as before, some meaner courts claim innocent ignorance. How can an entire society of enchanted beings change overnight? How could they be expected to adjust to human fragility all of a sudden?
So Taryn took her baby, promised her sister to visit and fled to Heather and Vivi's. It wasn't as hard as she'd thought. Getting used to the mortal world, that's it. And if her baby had longer canine than normal, or his ears sharpened to pointy edges to the top, it passed unnoticed. Her son certainly didn't stood out the way Vivi did, even with light brown eyes that looked orange in the sun and rusty red hair. He didn't need much glamouring either, not like Oak, Oriana or Madoc. By the time she sent him to preschool his hair was long enough to cover the ears and no one seemed to notice the teeth even without magic.
For all the talk Taryn did on how she wanted her son to be free of his father in all ways, snapping at Oak when the boy tried to teach him magic before he knew how to properly walk and forbidding her family to bring Fairyland up, she named him Renard.
Fitting, though not what she should have done. Maybe part of her can't let Locke go, not entirely. She knew he didn't particularly wanted the baby, that everything he promised her were pretty lies. But for a few months, it has been real. Their marriage, their love, their lives. She saw her dreams come true, one after another: the mistress of an important household, throwing parties for courtiers, motherhood.
Now that everything she wanted snaped broken in tiny little pieces carried away by harsh winter wind, Taryn Duarte couldn't phantom having her child become like his father.
"It has nothing to do with magic, for fuck's sake!" Vivi exploded once, after Taryn better than not threw Oak and Oriana - who came to visit - out of the apartment for trying to reach Renard's magic. "He won't become a sly, selfish fox if he can change appearance or grow horses out of leaves. It's all about his up-bringing!"
"I want him to be normal, Vivi! That's why I took him here!"
Renard has been barely one year old when the argument happened. But it was enough to take his mother's words to heart.
°•▪︎~▪︎•°
Four years old Renard and twelve years old Oak played outside, jumping in crusty piles of autumn leaves. The princeling hadn't given up his plans to teach his cousin magic. He refused to let go of such opportunity: a friend he didn't have to hide of, one he could play with like he used to in Elfhame.
"Hey, Ren-Ren," Oak said, "check this out!" The older boy held up his hand, brows furrowed in concentration, lip grazed between his teeth. Nothing happened for an alarming amount of time. And then... the leaves twirl around the two cousins, splashing then with guts of wind and scarce dew as it swept them up in a friendly tornado.
Renard chuckled in delight, stretching to catch some of the closer leaves. But as soon as he touched one, the whole thing fell apart. "No!" Do it again, Oak. Do it again."
"I'm sorry, Ren-Ren," Oak faked a yawned and laid on the ground. "Magic is very serious business. Very consuming. I'm too tired to even move." He let his eyes close dramatically, watching Renard between his lashes. Truth be told, every time he did magic Oak felt good. Vibrant. As if the earth itself reached out and gave him life. But Renard didn't need to know that yet. He can definitely learn it by himself if Oak's plan works out.
The younger boy pouted and dropped on the ground. "Not fair," he muttered to himself.
"You know, Ren-Ren, you're half fae. That means there's a pretty good chance you're magic too."
"No, I'm not."
"You can't know that. Come on, give it a try!"
"No, Oak! I'm not magic. I'm not like Father, I'm like Mom. Like Mom, just like that."
Oak straightened himself, but didn't rose from the ground. "Ok, Ren-Ren. Listen up. Magic is not bad. It's fun. Don't you think it's fun?"
"Yes!" Renard nodded enthusiastically. "It's super fun. When you do it, Oak." At that the named boy own enthusiasm faded away in an instant.
"Thank you, Ren-Ren," he deadpanned. "But do you know what's more fun than watching me practice magic?" Not giving the kid a chance to answer, to even take in the question, really, Oak said "To do it yourself."
"Do you really think I should try, Oak?" Clearly, the little boy was attracted to magic. And clearly something was stopping him. But his older cousin slowly made whatever that was seem less big and scary, dragging him along in his qualms.
"Totally!"
Renard pushed his lips forward with his tongue, sticking it out through the gap in his teeth. Caramel eyes shone with desire, his red hair flown around by a cold, pleasant wind. "Ok," he gave in, as expected. "How do I do it?"
The smirk that lightened up Oak's face can only be describes as evil. Though no ill intention hid behind it. Only the knowledge his plan worked out, just like his sister, Jude's.
"Listen to me very carefully, alright? There is not just one way to make magic, Ren-Ren. You have to find your own. But for now, try the basics. Think really hard on what you want to happen. Something easy. Got anything in mind?" Renard frowned, then his eyes landed on a tree which still had some green leaves on its branches and nodded.
"Perfect! Now, imagine whatever you want to happen. Imagine it happening. Are you imagining?"
"Yes."
"No!" Oak groaned. "If you're paying attention to me, then it means you're not focusing on magic."
"But how will I know what to do if I don't listen to you?"
"I told you! Magic is your own, Ren-Ren. It comes naturally. So, dig it up. Use your imagination."
Renard tried to shut out the world around him, picturing the sole tree in his mind. A warm pull tugged at him and he followed. His magic, he tried not to dwell on the joy, but instead focusing on his practice. His magic reaching out. Because he reached out first.
The boy allowed the warmth to take control, guiding him through it. The tree now carved in his mind by detail wasn't enough. He needed action. But just imagining the leaves to fall wouldn't do. Renard couldn't say how exactly he knew it. He just did. Something more tender was needed. The half fae kid had to imply what he wants and trust his magic to follow his lead.
So Renard made himself cold. Chilly. Feeling a breeze of wind creeping inside his clothes, whipping his skin gently. Enough to rip a leaf off a tree, though. Which it did. The wind he summoned couldn't be felt, not really. Only by himself and the green leaves that departed one by one from their branch as if plucked by an invisible hand.
Oak gasped. Then grinned. And then he laughed. Renard broke free of his concentration, pleased to see his magic didn't falter. Not until every and each green leaf from his chosen tree didn't fall. The sight made him still in awe for a couple of seconds. But soon enough he joined his cousin with a bubble laugh, jumping up and down and running to tackle Oak in a tight hug.
"I did it, Oak! I did it!"
"Yes, you did, Rem-Ren. Indeed, you did. Congrats!"
"Can we show auntie Vivi? And auntie Oriana?"
When Madoc and Oriana first came in the mortal world, Taryn wanted nothing to do with them. But years of being cared for by the blue skinned, white haired, pink eyes woman showed their tale. She agreed to see her, but only her. She could be part of her child life, if she wanted.
"Sure. But don't you want to show your mom first?"
"Mom and auntie Heather work a lot. We can show them later." Renard said, but he felt his magic shrinking at the thought of his mother. His Mom didn't like his father. And his magic comes from his father. Is that why his magic doesn't want to reveal itself near Taryn? He hoped it was just him overthinking it, because he loves his Mom and wants to share this with her.
°•▪︎~▪︎•°
Oak stayed with auntie Oriana, who was his mother, so Renard couldn't bring himself to be upset over it. He would want to be with his mother as much as he can as well. So he did a little trick for auntie Vivi, who told him to stay where he was, brought a camera and ordered him to glamour the tea cups again. Renard made them look like pumpkins, since the Halloween being over the corner made him impossibly anxious - in a good way.
Turns out even mortal technology can be fooled by fae's magic. Vivi showed the clip to Heather, who coed over him until Taryn came home.
"Hello, treasure. How was your day? Wanna give mommy a kiss?"
Renard jumped into his mother's arms, pressing a strong kiss on her cheek before starting to tell her about all the fun he had with cousin Oak. "And then he said I should try magic too."
Tamryn stilled. "And?"
"Look, Mom!"
Renard broke a vase, then, with a twitch of his fingers put it back together. "Auntie Vivi says I'm a natural."
"Does she? That's amazing, sweetheart."
But his mother didn't sound thrilled. In fact, her smile wasn't even a smile at all, but a thin line. "I'm sorry, mommy. I knew I shouldn't've done it, but I didn't know why. Now I know: you don't want me using my magic. It'll make me bad, like father."
Renard pushed his lips up front, scrunched his nose up, wiggled his toes, all in an atempt to stop the tears hurting his eyes from falling. When he realized it was in vain, he took off running to his room.
When Taryn entered minutes later she found her son curled on his left side in the middle of the bed, hugging a black goat plushie his uncle Cardan gave him on his birthday tight to his chest. She hated herself for causing the pain struck look on her son's face.
"Hey, sweetie."
"Hi, Mom." Renard wiped his nose with his jumper's sleeve.
"I'm so sorry, sweetie. Mommy was just scared, but that's not your fault. You could never be bad. Magic is not bad. Of course you can practice all you want, but we'll settle some ground, basic rules first. Ok?"
"Really?"
"Rules you can never, ever break. Really."
"Thank you, Mommy! You're the best! Just wait until Oak hears about it."
A/N: Renard means fox in french. Also: oops, guess I finished it earlier than expected and didn't really felt like waiting days to post it 😅

Bakugou and Todoroki w/ future kids but they meet the reader first
Request: I know you just wrote the future kids thing but I never see the reverse scenario happen where the kid meets the reader. But maybe because they're young or the reader isn't with the boi (Bakugou in this case who doesn't have a hero name yet and maybe the reader doesn't either) The kid keeps saying his parents hero names until he finally runs into Bakugou. The kid didn't realize the reader was the mom until they stood next to Bakugou. - anonymous
I really enjoyed writing the future kids requests mainly because they were the cutest along side some dad requests I got recently. So I chose these two since we don’t have hero names for them and you didn’t specify any characters so yeah. If you want me to write for others please don’t hesitate to ask. Love yaa.💖💖💖
warnings: fluff, some mild panic
Bakugou Katsuki
Tumblr media
-You had gone shopping with Tsuyu and Ochako but had parted ways when the girls had been called in from their agencies.
-Making your way back to the dorms, you were vibin along with your music when you felt a small tug at your pant leg.
-Looking down you were met with a pair of small e/c eyes staring back at you with a few stray ash blonde locks swaying along the autumn breeze.
-The little figure stared at you for a moment, a poker face adorning his features before he spoke.
- “Excuse me, do you know where the Ground Zero agency is?”
-You had never heard of such an agency and kneeling down you looked at the small boy.
- “I’m sorry sweetheart but I don’t know an agency by that name. Who are your parents? Maybe we can find them.”
-The boy looked at you with confusion and some irritation sprinkled on top, for a few moments before letting out a sigh and telling you that his parents were pro heroes.
-His mother apparently was on a mission across seas so they couldn’t really contact her  but his dad, the number two hero , Ground Zero  would definitely help.
-At first you thought that the boy was confused since the number two hero right now was Hawks and you didn’t know anyone by that hero name.
-And you told the boy that he was wrong but he was adamant, insisting that his daddy was number two.
-When you mentioned Hawks he titled his little head to the side and said rather matter of factly that Hawks had retired long before he was born.
-That was weird to say the least.
-With everything that the boy told you you were beyond confused and you decided to take him to Aizawa, thinking it was the best course of action.
-Offering the boy your hand he hesitantly took it saying that his mommy always said that he shouldn’t trust strangers.
- “But you look very familiar so I trust you. Kinda.”
-And with that you walked hand in hand to the dorms with the intention to find Aizawa in his room.
-Along the way however you heard yelling coming from the common room and you mentally prepared yourself for the tantrum that Katsuki must be throwing in there.
-Halting your steps you leaned down to the boy ready to prepare him for what was to come only to be met with an ecstatic little human chanting ‘daddy’ under his breath.
-His eyes were practically shinning while he was making mini hops here and there, trying to mask his excitement.
-If you were being honest he reminded you of yourself when you get fired up but his appearance practically screamed Bakugou at you.
-You have had a crush on Katsuki for some time now but you’ve attempted to drown your feelings and save yourself the humiliation and heart break.
-Key word: attempted.
- “You excited there kiddo?”
-He looked up at you with a large smile on his tiny face.
- “That sounds like my daddy! Mommy always says that shouting might be part of his quirk and every time she says that, daddy and I need to tickle her until she takes it back.”
- “Well if your father is anything like the baka you are about to meet than god help your mother.” you mumbled under your breath, the boy too excited to pay attention to you, as you pushed the door open and stepped inside.
-You made to walk to Aizawa’s room when his voice boomed through the room.
- “Oi this isn’t a nursery. What are you doing?”
- “Shut it Bakugou!’
- “Did you kidnap the kid? ‘Cause it seems that he’s trying to get away from your dumbass.”
-He wasn’t wrong.
-The boy was trying to leave your grasp that you had unconsciously tightened when you started talking with Bakugou.
-The little boy looked back at you and mouthed ‘That’s daddy!!!’ before prying your hand off of his wrist and running to the couch that Bakugou was sitting.
-He looked at the child with a scowl on his face, his eyes darting over the boys’ features noticing some resemblances to himself but also some of your characteristics.
-The kid certainly had his hair and face structure but his eyes, nose and mouth were all you.
-And don’t get him started on that cute grin he had on his face that was a carbon copy of the one you have.
-Bakugou hated to admit that he had a crush on you.
-You had caught his eye when you had roasted him during your first week of school and you two had been bickering back and forth ever since, feelings starting to develop on both sides but neither of you being brave enough to actually confess.
- “Y/N why the hell is your brother looking at me like that?”
-At that the boy snapped his head to you, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape the grin he adorned just a few seconds ago being replaced by a really confused look.
- “He’s not my brother, I found him! Now if you’ll excuse us I have to find Aizawa and clear things out.”
-The boy didn’t move an inch as you approached him, his eyes fixated on your face and as you leaned forward to grab him he wrapped both his arms around your neck and manhandled you onto the couch, making you fall on top of Katsuki.
-The blushes on your faces were legendary.
-The kid was staring at you two and suddenly jumped on top of BOTH of you making Katsuki groan.
- “Mommy, mommy i thought you were in America with auntie Mina! Why did you pretend you didn’t know me? Why is daddy so small? Where are we?”
-Bakugou was staring at the kid shooting question after question as you on the other hand were on the brink of passing out from the word mommy.
- “Oi, oi slow down. What’s your name shrimp?”
-He looked at Katsuki with a frown before roll his eyes and answering.
- “Bakugou Tatsuo you old man.”
-They had to bring you to Recovery girl because you passed out and both Bakugou men were panicking.
Todoroki Shouto
Tumblr media
-You didn’t know what hit you really.
-You were lounging outside on your balcony enjoying the view the dorms gave you when you heard shouting from above you before you were frozen in place and a little ball of red hair came tumbling down the ice slide.
-It almost slammed against your glass door but stopped just on time, shaking the frost from the red locks.
-As the child turned to you, her eyes widened and she quickly let out a string of sorry’s as she defrosted you, messing up her words many times and confusing the r with w.
-It was the cutest thing watching this five year old at best trying to melt her ice, her chubby hands resting on the iceberg as her nose scrunched up in concentration.
-Eventually the ice melted and you were set free, rubbing your arms for some warmth as you looked at the child on your balcony more closely.
- “I’m so sorry miss, I didn’t see you!!”
- “Well you were falling from the sky so I find it logical.”
-The little girl fidgeted with her fingers looking around in pure confusion, her lower lip trembling at the unfamiliar scenery in front of her.
-Despite the clear panic in her gaze she held herself together, dawning a poker face soon after and looking at you straight in the eyes, her gaze feeling awfully familiar.
- “I’m Rei. Nice to meet you.”
-She extended her hand and you were taken aback from her manners and the fact that you were being owned by a toddler.
-Taking her small hand in yours you shake it and lead her inside, placing her on your bed and sitting across from her on your chair.
-You stared at each other for a solid five minutes before you broke the silence with some basic questions.
-How old she was, how she got here, where are her parents.
- “A kid got his quirk and things got out of hand. But my daddy will know what to do!! He’s a pro hero.”
- “Oh what’s his hero name? Maybe I can take you to him.”
- “Icyhot, he has an agency in the city but I don’t know how to get there.”
-At the sound of that name you were confused again.
-Icyhot is Bakugou’s way of mocking Todoroki, your long time crush, and as far as you know there is no hero with that name,
-As you looked at the girl again you saw some similarities with Shouto.
-The hair and the poker face along with her quirk and some of her mannerisms scream Shouto.
-Even though her hair was the same color as his, she looked like you when you were around her age.
-Pushing your confusion in the back of your mind you looked at her again.
- “Is you daddy Todoroki Shouto?”
-You wished that your first time referring to Shouto as daddy would be under him other circumstances.
- “Yes!! Do you know him??”
-Oh you knew him alright.
-Nodding you sat up and extended your hand to the little girl, who grabbed it with no hesitation, and led her out of your room.
-And so the mad hunt for Todoroki began.
-Along the way Rei would tell you all kinds of stuff and share funny situations that her and her twin sister got themselves into.
-Apperantly, Rei had a twin sister Ren and a younger sister who was recently added to the family, Ru.
-You had been running around the school grounds for like an hour and you could feel Rei getting tired as she slowed down after a while.
-She didn’t complain though. she just kept talking about her family and how her mom stayed at home for the last few weeks.
-She was the cutest thing you have seen in a fat while and you could say that you were more than jealous of her mother, whoever she was.
-As you rounded a corner your eye caught sight of a head with vibrant red and white hair.
-And there stood Todoroki in all his glory holding a little girl of his own in his arms, this one with snow white hair.
-The moment Rei saw them she made a mad sprint and literally tackled both of them to the ground, the twins hugging each other like they weren’t suffocating Shouto.
-You rushed to them, kneeling beside Shouto and prying the twins off of him, giving him a weak smile as you helped him up.
-As you two stood there, the twins looked at you and something clicked.
-Both of them smiled to themselves and hugged you, nuzzling into yor side as Todoroki stared at you.
-You all agreed to go to Aizawa or Recovery Girl to see how to get them back home.
-As you made your way to Aizawa’s office the twins were whispering to each other not as quietly as they thought.
- “Mommy is really pretty.”
- “Yeah and daddy has that smile on his face.”
-You both became a blushing mess unbeknownst to them.
-You sure as hell had a lot to talk about after this.
-And you’d finally get to call him daddy.

Create For Thra Day 6: "There are many paths laid before us, some good, most bad."
@createforthra
--
Here's a thing I have written months ago, which happens to be a perfect fit for today's topic!
Excuse my writing skills and enjoy!... Or cry.
🌟
Open Your Eyes
🌟
Kira tried to wipe away some of the blush from her freckled cheeks. She loved her reflection on the dressing mirror, but she thought her mom could do her make up a little bit less.
She heard her mom laugh.
"And here I was wondering how long would it take you to remove some of it."
"But it feels heavy, you know I like how I look."
"Yes honey, but this is a special occasion... Spare me this once?"
Kira rolled her eyes playfully as Brea braided her silver hair with beads. Kira's hair fell from her shoulders, she especially wanted side braids like her gorgeous mother, but had thin side braids instead of thick ones. She made them herself, then Brea offered help attaching the beads. Brea made two braids, connecting into one thick braid at the center.
"Looking good as ever." Came a silent voice. Kira turned to her aunt, whose body, spider body, was sitting on top of the counter. She couldn't help but blush, looking down.
"Don't move your head, sweetheart." Brea said, posing her head straight again.
"Sorry. I am just... Excited." She was terrifyingly aware of her heartbeat, tried to take a deep breath.
"I can sense your fear." Tavra walked with her thin legs and stopped between Kira and the mirror. "You have nothing to be afraid of."
"I can't help it." Kira explained. " I wish I could know what the future holds for me, like Mother Aughra. Maybe then I wouldn't be this vulnerable."
"You are not vulnerable." She felt her mother tug on her finished braid as a warning. She didn't like it when Kira dragged herself down this way. "Do you think I didn't feel afraid? I thought I was going to faint."
"Ah yes, glad that you only puked and didn't faint."
"Tavra!"
Kira started to laugh. Well, this story was new.
"You puked?! Why didn't you tell me?!"
"I didn't want my daughter to know this ridiculous fact, thank you very much."
"She was so excited, so she ate whatever she could find from the kitchen and made herself sick." Tavra spoke mischievously.
"I had to keep myself busy!" Brea argued with her big sister. Kira loved their bickering. They were almost never serious with it, that's why Kira even started some of them on purpose.
While they were stating opinions on how to cope with these kinds of excitement, Kira looked at the mirror once more, and decided her fear was a good thing. She would always have her loved ones by her side, possibly talking nonsense like this and she realized, there was nothing to be afraid of. Her future, their future was filled with hope and laughter, she just knew it.
Another deep breath. And a big smile.
"Alright, all done here." Her mother said. For final touch, Tavra brought her golden coronet, which Brea placed on Kira's brow.
A knock on the door which made Kira's heart flip. Only Onica's wild red hair could be seen since she opened the door ajar while talking with someone outside the dressing room. Tavra's tiny body bounced with joy. When Onica came in, they also saw Tae outside, waving at them.
"We are all set. You can come out whenever you want." said the Far-Dreamer.
"Thra's Mighty Hooyim King, you look amazing, Kira!" Tae cheered.
Kira thanked her while she got up from her chair. Her white gown with gold and silver rands fell smoothly behind her. Embroidered with both Vapra and Spriton symbols, she was very proud of this dress she made herself.
One last glance at her reflection, one last deep breathe.
Brea reached to fix her bangs while Onica put out her hand for Tavra to climb on. Tavra wished her a good luck with: "Go get him!" while moving her legs exaggeratively, causing a big laughter in the room.
Then they got out, it was only her and her mother now. Brea's eyes were shining, her little fizzgig was now all grown up, taking another big step in her life.
"Mother, I will be okay."
"I know, baby."
"So, don't cry."
Brea abruptly wiped her tears on her long sleeve, trying not to smear her make up. Then she held Kira's hand and squuezed. Supposedly, they promised each other just this morning as a family that they weren't going to cry.
But all those hardships back in the trines, almost getting killed by a Garthim several times... Brea still couldn't believe it was all over. Skeksis no more.
Another knock on the door, and this time both of their eyes sparkled, as the legendary songteller stepped in to the dressing room with a blinding smile.
Kylan stopped in his tracks and stared at his daughter in awe. Kira laughed and went to hug him.
"Please don't start crying like mother did just now."
Kylan chuckled as he wrapped his arms around her and spinned once. Then he sent a playful smirk on Brea's way and said: "It seems you lost our bet, love."
Brea pretended to be angry with a pout, but when she glanced at her little family, she smiled until her cheeks hurt.
"I want a hug too!" she said as she took big steps towards her husband. Kylan opened one arm for her and immidiately in she was. Kira leaned on her father's shoulder, which always felt like home. After some minutes, Brea sniffled once more, and Kira reached and hugged her as well. This is nice, she thought. It had been a while since they could be like this because of the fussy preparations.
When they let go, Kylan placed both hands on her cheeks and kissed her forehead. Kira could see his eyes becoming misty with emotion as well. She smiled widely with the same eyes she has as her father.
Brea took his arm and started to lead him toward the door.
"Aww, I don't want to give her to Jen yet!"
Brea raised a laugh. "You are not giving her to anyone, honey. Let's give her a moment and take our places at the balcony."
Then she flashed Kira a proud look, and they were gone.
Kira felt aware of her heart again. She couldn't stop this fuzzy feeling inside her stomach and bounced around happily. Calm yourself before you sweat inside the dress, she thought to herself. She let go of the fists she made without noticing, and reached for the door.
Citadel's hallways were empty. As she passed each one, she heard the Gelf folk outside, crowded and excited, just like her. The noise grew louder and louder, then she made a left turn, reaching the last corridor before the Citadel's balcony.
She already could see her parents, on the left side. Brea was already looking at her direction and when she saw Kira coming, she gently elbowed Kylan's arm, causing him to look at her too. And the smile he gave her was everything. Before she teared up, she took a right glance, and saw Rian and Deet, also waiting for her to arrive.
With all the rustling her parents caused, Jen turned around where he was standing at the center and their eyes met.
The flutter inside her chest made her think that she was really about to let go of the lunch she had at noon.
Even if he tried to, Jen couldn't stop looking at her until she was at his side. He awkwardly reached his hand out for her. She took it eagerly.
They both stood straight before her Aunt Seladon, who was going to perform their marriage ceremony. She smiled down at them lovingly, which, Kira didn't experience often much before.
Kira glanced down at all the Gelfling who attended their wedding. Besides the whole citizens of Ha'rar, she could see many faces from every clan. Well, if there is any left, at this point.
Her Uncle Gurjin and Auntie Naia were cheering loudly, as well as her Uncle Amri. As her closest family friends, they had every right to scream.
She couldn't even begin to count everyone she knew when her eyes locked with a figure, at the very back of the crowd. Her eyes widened as the old creature's crane's shard shined with light.
"Mother Aughra..." she let out before she could manage. Jen smiled knowingly.
"I also thought she wouldn't be here today."
Kira, not being sure if Aughra could see it, bowed her head slowly at her direction. Jen followed right after her, thanking Mother Thra for everything she's done for the Gelfling.
When they finally started the ceremony, Aughra snickered loudly.
"These kids..." she said to herself. She ignored the looks of some Gelfling who heard her loud and sudden snicker, and glanced at the endless sky.
"You spoil these children, old friend." She talked to Thra, jokingly mentioning the great weather today. Her tired eyes scanned her every children, happy and bonded with the song of Thra.
They deserved this, she thought.
Their future is brighter than the stars above, she thought.
Then she closed her eyes, listening to her children's voices.
She didn't want to open them. She truly didn't. However, she had no other choice. She counted every star she visited while she was sleeping, just to kill time. But, they also came to an end.
When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was a Gelfling. Laying and unmoving, already returned to Thra. After every slow step she took, she saw another. And another.
She recognized one, two, three... Maybe all. Or maybe she didn't. She didn't know.
She wondered, why Thra showed her this vision now. Which didn't mean anything. She huffed, then coughed, trying to silence her pain.
She knew where she was. In which reality, in which possible future she was in. She had this reality as a vision trines ago, and there they were. Her children, poor children...
And she knew what she was supposed to do. Her feet took her to the right direction as if moving without her consent. But that was she. That was Thra. Already decided fate. Too late to return.
One tear dropped from her eye to the bloody soil as she stood beside the corpse of a certain songteller, his eyes are half open as he clutched into his magical firca, like a last hope.
She leaned down and grabbed it. With delicate care, she fully closed his eyes, careful of her crooked nail.
Without looking back, she made her way toward the already decided route again. She wished all of her children, for them to return to Thra safely, as that was all she could do.
Grunting while she walked, scolding Thra for showing her a vision this heartbreaking, for making her cry, off to the UrRu valley she went. With the firca around her neck.

i hate you
not sure if this makes any sense, but i felt the need to post something since it’s been a hot minute, i hope everyone’s doing well and staying safe
“I hate you!” It was the last thing Amelia heard as her nephew slammed his bedroom door in her face. She knew she had to reprimand him but didn’t have the willpower to do so; Bailey was just a kid learning how to process emotions. She sighed and walked into her bedroom to cuddle her son, the only kid in the house who still seems to love her. The girls were just as indifferent towards her as Bailey was; the boy just didn’t suppress it.
“Auntie Amelia!” Zola rapped on the door, causing her aunt to sigh.
“Come in!”
“Are you aware Bailey is running away?” Zola asked matter of factly.
“Yep, he mentioned that.” A fight had erupted over him not wanted to join his Zoom class. Amelia knew there was more going on in his head, but her temper got the better of her, and he screamed at her to inform her that he was going to run away.
“You're the adult here! Make him stop!” Since Meredith had gone on the vent, Zola needed everyone to stay in the same place.
“He’s not going to run away.” Amelia chuckled lightly; standing up, grabbing the wrap to wrap her son around her tightly.
“He’s packing a bag!”
“I know, don’t worry about it, sweetheart. He’s not actually going to run away.”
“Well, when he runs away, don’t come crying to me.” Amelia tried to contain her laugh; that was a phrase Meredith would always use when advising the kids not to do something but did anyways. Zola left the room with a defiant huff, and Amelia waited until she heard a thumping on the stairs indicating Bailey's suitcase dragging on the hardwood steps
“Don’t follow me!” Bailey yelled, turning around when he noticed his aunt at the top of the stairs.
“I’m not, just getting a glass of water,” Amelia concluded as she trekked down the stairs supporting the baby’s back. Bailey entered the kitchen, shoving granola bars into his suitcase, glaring at his aunt whenever they locked eye contact.
“I’m leaving,” Bailey announced once he grabbed a water bottle.
“Alrighty then.” Amelia nodded as she paced around to keep her son from fussing. Bailey defiantly turned around and exited through the front door. The woman made her way to the front window to watch the boy walk down the driveway.
“What are we looking at?” Link asked, placing his hand on her lower back. “Is bailey running away?” His voice panicked, realizing the boy had a suitcase, making his way to the door, but was stopped when Amelia grabbed his arm.
“Don't.”
“Babe, he’s running away! We can just let him leave! He’s a kid!”
“Shh. Watch.” She pointed to the boy who turned around and hesitated mid driveway, making his way towards the big tree in the front yard and climbed up it.
“Oh.” Link sighed in relief.
“Just let him cool off, keep an eye on him, though.”
________________________________________
“He’s been in that tree all day.” Link said, astonished as he watched him from his spot on the couch. “He can barely sit still for an hour.” All-day, the two adults, took shifts watching the boy in the tree to assure no one took him or he ran off. “Shouldn’t we go get him? The sun is going down.”
“I’ll get him,” Amelia assured as she took the plate they set him aside out of the microwave. She slipped out the front door, and headed down the driveway. “Gosh, I’ve been worried about Bailey all day. He barely touched his breakfast, and he missed two meals. I hope he didn’t get hurt, traveling all on his own.” She could see Bailey from the corner of her eye, who was debating whether or not he should come down.
“I’m up here.” Bailey huffed; he wanted to stand his ground but couldn’t deny he was hungry for something other than granola bars.
“Oh, thank goodness! I’ve been worried about you all day!” The woman walked under the tree and looked up at her nephew.
“I don’t care.”
“Want your dinner?” She held the plate up, showing him it was his favorite meal; Bailey seemed to consider this and eventually climbed down the tree.
“Did you make this or Uncle Link?”
“I did.” Amelia smiled, passing the plate to him.
“Oh, no thanks.”
“What? It’s your favorite! Spaghetti and meatballs!”
“Not when you make it.” Bailey moved to climb up the tree again.
“Bailey, wait.” The boy turned around, crossing his arms. “Can we talk?”
“No.”
The woman sighed, sitting down to lean against the tree’s trunk.
“You know, when I was a kid, I ran away a lot.”
“You did?” The boy asked, surprised by his aunt’s confession.
“I would do what you did, except we had this treehouse that your dad helped build that I hid in.” Which wasn't entirely a lie, but when she was a teenager, she’d usually go somewhere to score.
“Who helped my dad build it?”
“Our dad, so your grandfather.” The two sat in silence for a while before Amelia realized what had upset her nephew. “After our dad died, Derek kinda stepped into his place. And I’d always get really upset cause it felt like he was trying to replace our dad. I eventually realized that he wasn’t trying to replace him. He was trying to help a little bit.”
“Hmm.” Bailey huffed, playing with a twig from the tree.
“I’m not trying to replace your mom, Bailey. I’m just trying to make sure you and your sisters are cared for and as happy as you can be. I love you guys so so so much, and I know how much your hurting, but you’ve gotta let me help.”
“Okay.” Bailey slowly nodded.
“Okay.” Amelia smiled, wrapping her arms tighter around the boy.
“I’m sorry. I was just- I miss my mom, and you do the things she does and I don’t like that, but am I gonna have to make up school?”
“I understand.” She held on the younger boys hand. “I’ll try to back off a bit, but I just want you to know I love you and your sisters so so much. And so does your mom, all she wants is for you to be happy and healthy and cared for. But yeah your gonna have to make school up.”The older woman chuckled, then picking up the forgotten plate of spaghetti. “Now let’s go get you another plate.” She gently patted the boys back signaling him to get up.
“I love you auntie Amelia.” Bailey smiled before he ran into the house.
________________________________________
“How’d you do that today?” Link asked as his girlfriend got settled on his chest.
“Do what?”
“With Bailey, you just knew he wasn’t gonna run away. I was freaking out when I saw him walking down the driveway with his suitcase.”
“I was Bailey. I was the angry kid who missed their parent so much.”
“Your gonna think I’m a terrible person if I say this.”
“I could never think that.” Amelia gave a reassuring smile.
“I need Meredith to get better. I love those kids, I really do, but-“
“They’re a lot.” The neurosurgeon finished.
“Yeah.” Link nodded in agreement. “They’re a lot. Baileys okay though, right?”
“He will be.” Amelia nodded, tracing her fingers over the mans chest. “I think what’s killing them is not being able to talk to her, they’re used to not seeing her often, between her work and their school, but they always got to talk to her on the phone before bedtime and between surgeries. But they can’t even have that now.”
“She’s gonna get better.” Link affirmed, needing it to be true. A knock on the door jarring them from their bubble.
“Auntie Amelia?” Ellis opened the door to reveal her teary face.
“Have a bad dream?” Amelia asked holding out her arms for the girl.
“Yeah.” Ellis squeaked out, climbing into the bed cuddling into her aunt.
“It was just a dream.” Amelia reassured, stroking the girls hair, starting to drift off herself. Ten minutes had gone by and Ellis was put cold.
“Imma go put her to bed.” Link whispered.
“No let her sleep in here, just for the night. She came to me; she’s been hating me for the last few days.”
“Babe, she's so tiny but she’s taking up half the bed.” Link gestured to the girl who was sprawled out on the bed, inching him off of it.
“Just for the night.”
“Just for the night.” Link smiled, running his hand on his nieces back.
“We should get one of these.”
“Scout’s barely five months old.” Amelia chuckled sleepily, struggling to stay awake.
“What about when Scout isn’t five months old anymore.”
“We’ll talk about it when it comes.” The neurosurgeon assured. “Now can we go to sleep?”
“We can go to sleep.” Link sighed in content as he watched his girlfriend succumbs to sleep.
______________________________________
“Oh.” Link sighed as he walked into their bedroom, to be met with his girlfriend and niece already fast asleep. It had been a week since Ellis had infiltrated their bed. He carefully lifted up the girl, jerking her awake, causing her to protest.
“No! I wanna sleep in here!”
“Link what are you doing?” Amelia groggily asked her boyfriend.
“Putting her in her bed.”
“No!” Ellis refused starting to kick her uncle.
“Ow!” Link groaned placing the girl back in the bed.
“Ellis you can’t kick.” Amelia reprimanded. “And you’ve gotta keep your voice down, you’re gonna wake up the baby.”
“It’s always about Scout!” Ellis yelled, running out of the room in tears. “No one loves me!”
“See what you did?” Amelia groaned, lifting herself out of bed.
“What! It was getting ridiculous, she’s way too old to be sleeping in our bed.”
“She’s six!”
“Amelia, have you realized I’ve been sleeping on the floor? She’s taking up the whole bed, even you are halfway off of it. And whens the last time we were able to have sex?”
“There it is, you just want sex.”
“No! That’s not what I meant.” He ran a stressful hand through his hair.
“I’m gonna go check on Ellis.” Amelia groaned, lifting herself up out of the bed. She quietly made her way to the younger girls room, to find it empty. Then she opened Zola’s door to find Ellis crying in her sisters arms, and Zola glaring at her aunt. “Babe, I’m sorry.” Amelia sat on the opposite side of the girl trying to console her, but was pushed away.
“I hate uncle Link.” Ellis informed her aunt, burying her face into her sisters chest.
“I’m really sorry, he’s just stressed. He’s not used to a kid crawling in bed with him, he’s never really been around kids before.”
“Mommy lets me sleep with her.”
“I know she does.” Amelia nodded, running her hand through the girls hair. “And I know you miss her, and she misses you kids soooooooo much.”
“When will she be home?”
“Soon, I hope. I know she’s fighting really hard.” Amelia sadly smiled, hoping what she was saying was true. “And I’m sorry if Link and I have been so busy with Scout, but babies need lots and lots of attention. I promise we didn’t forget about you, we both love you so much. Everyone here does, Zola, Bailey, Auntie Maggie, and your mom.”
“Yeah.” Zola agreed, adding her own insight. “I remember when you were a baby, and mommy had to spend so much time with you. So Bailey and I were kinda lonely, but Auntie Amelia was there. Mommy always makes sure we’re take care of so Uncle Link and Auntie Amelia are trying their best.”
“I’m sorry.” Ellis whispered.
“It’s okay, but you can’t throw a tantrum and kick and say mean things that’s not gonna help.”
“I really am sorry, I’ll apologize to uncle Link tomorrow when I’m not mad.” Ellis apologized once again as the neurosurgeon pulled the girl to lean on her chest. Zola moved herself in on the hug. “Thank you Zozo.” Amelia whispered.
Zola smiled up to her aunt, proud that someone recognized how good of a big sister she was.

“Amelia, I’m so sor-“ Link sat up immediately, having sat in their room feeling guiltily.
“It’s okay.” Amelia smiled, sitting in the bed next to him. “You’re hurting.”
“I- I’m just not used to so many kids all of the time. And I don’t get kids like you do, you just know everything and the extent of my capabilities are making Mac and cheese and being the fun guy.”
“I know, And this is new for you. You’ll catch on, and your not failing as being a dad and an uncle, because I know that’s what your trying to apply.”
“I really am sorry. Is Ellis okay.”
“Well, she hates you. But I think she’ll get over it if you push her on the swings tomorrow.” Amelia smirked.
“Wait she actually hates me?” Link asked, feeling his heart drop.
“Yeah, for right now at least.” Amelia laughed blatantly at his shocked look. “You have lots to learn about kids, she doesn’t actually hate you, she’s just upset and that’s how she’s processing it. You aren’t ready for the amount of times Scout’s gonna say he hates us.”
“Really?”
“Really.” Amelia pouted, before embracing her boyfriend in a hug.

Steve stood in the doorway of their room, watching as Katie packed everything into the small suitcase. He let out a soft sigh and she turned to look at him.
“Honey, that’s the fifth time you’ve unpacked and repacked that.” He said gently, crossing the room.
“I know I just want to be sure I have everything.” She shrugged, her eyes flicking back to romper in her hands. “We’re gonna be in there for a long time and-“ “I know, sweetheart.” He nodded gently, taking her face in his hands. “But we checked everything off the list. And if there’s something missing then I can always fetch it. It’s not a problem.”
He took the baby grow she was currently holding out of her hands, folded it and placed it in the bag before he shut the lid, zipped it up and then turned to face her as she melted into his arms.
“I’m so scared, Steve.” Her voice was trembling as he simply stood there, his arms holding her as close as her bump would allow, his face pressing into her hair.
“I know but I’ll be with you the whole time.” He assured her. “And if there’s anyone that can get through this it’s you.” They stayed still, Katie taking deep breaths and letting his soft touch and smell calm her. Eventually she pulled back and looked up at him.
“Love you.” “Love you too.” He smiled, dropping a kiss to her lips “Now, without spoiling the surprise Bucky, Sam, Pepper and the kids are waiting in the lounge.”
Katie smiled, “yeah, I heard the door before. Plus Rori was whispering very loudly to Emmy at breakfast about some secret plans which included Moo.”
Steve chuckled. “She can’t keep anything quiet.” “Well, at least she’s not throwing tantrums about Flossie anymore.” Katie shrugged, her hands resting on Steve’s chest over his blue plaid button down. “Small mercies.” Steve gave a little chuckle. “True. I’ll go down and tell them you’re coming then you can walk in and look surprised, okay?”
“Sounds like a plan…and you’d know, because-“ “Doll, just don’t…” He cut her off before she could launch into that infernal song and she giggled, her smile lighting up her pretty face, and it warmed his heart to see her worry melt away, even if he knew it was only temporary. He softly kissed her forehead before he left the room.
Katie glanced at the now closed suitcase and took a deep breath. She knew she had everything she needed, if truth be told she’d been re-packing because she didn’t have anything else she could do. This entire situation felt like it was out of her control, and that was what was worrying her. Not to mention the operation itself, the recovery, the apparent menopausal symptoms she was going to feel…but the worst bit, the bit she was absolutely terrified off was the fact they were going to have to numb her from the waist down.
But, Steve would be there. That she knew. And there was nothing else to be done about the situation, there was simply no other way their baby girl could be delivered without Katie’s life being left hanging in the balance, which both of them knew was just not an option. Steve because, well frankly the thought of being without her made him physically sick, and Katie couldn’t bear the thought of leaving him behind with her kids.
Wiping her eyes, she checked her mascara hadn’t run, fluffed her long hair out slightly which had been done that morning- one final pamper session before she was once more reduced to merely making sure there was no baby puke in it- and she headed out onto the landing and down the stairs. Taking a deep breath she fixed a smile on her face and walked into the lounge, and at the sight of her four kids, husband, best friends, sister-in-law and niece the smile became a genuine one as she was greeted with hugs and kisses.
“How you feeling?” Bucky whispered, his lips pressing to her temple in a friendly show of affection.
“Petrified.” She replied simply and he responded by gripping her a little tighter, his hand rubbing softly at her back
“You got this, Doll face. You always do.”
Katie gave him a smile as she stepped back and turned to Steve who was watching her, Harry perched on his hips. He gave her a wink as she walked towards them, smiling at Harry who stretched his arms out towards her.
“Hug momma!” He grinned and she smiled, allowing him to settle his arms around her neck, kissing his check, whilst Steve kept him safely gripped in his arms.
“So,” Pepper cleared her throat, “we know that you probably wanted a quiet evening with the fact you have a fairly busy day tomorrow…” at that Katie chuckled as Pepper picked a paper gift bag up from the coffee table, “but we just wanted to stop by and give you a little something that hopefully comes in handy whilst your recovering.”
Katie stepped forward and gently reached into the paper gift bag. Led on the top were some beautiful L’OCCITAINE toiletries, all in miniature sizes for her to take with her.
“They’re from me!” Morgan beamed from where she was sat next to Jamie on the couch, the pair of them looking at something on a tablet. Katie smiled and then returned to the bag, her hands brushing on the soft towelling of a robe as she pulled it free. It was a deep blue with gold detailing, just like her old Supernova suit and on the front over the left hand side her star had been embroidered. She took a deep shuddering breath and looked at Pepper, her eyes filling with tears.
“Just for those moments when you’re in there and need reminding of the Superhero you are.” Pepper said gently as Katie stepped towards her, the two women embracing.
“I wish he was here.” Katie whispered, who he was needed no explanation, and Pepper gave her a harder squeeze before she pulled back.
“He’d be so proud of you, you know.” Pepper whispered to her gently as Katie reached up to wipe the tears which had slid down her face.
“Momma’s upset Daddy.” Harry looked at Steve who pressed a kiss to the boy’s head, his own emotions threatening to bubble over.
“Don’t worry about it, buddy.” Steve assured him, smiling at the tot. “Momma’s just a little tired and the baby’s making her feel things, that’s all.”
“Are you okay Auntie Kiddo?” Morgan spoke and Katie turned to look at her, smiling as Tony’s eyes looked back at her form her Niece’s face.
“I am now.” She smiled, crossing the room and bending to give her niece a huge hug. “Thank you for the gift sweetie, it’s going to come in real useful.”
She rest a hand on her bump, her other hand going to her back and Steve, spotting the signs well enough, gently handed Harry over to Bucky and moved to help her sit down on the other sofa.
“You good?” His hand gently cupped her face and she nodded, smiling as he dropped a kiss to her cheek.
Emmy, who had been in the kitchen with Rori walked into the room and the pair of them dropped some snacks onto the table. The adults and kids alike descended like a swarm and Jamie took the opportunity to head over to his mom, handing her a box wrapped in gold paper upon which paw prints had been drawn.
She frowned at him and he shrugged at her.
“It’s from Stark.”
Katie glanced at Steve who was stood next to Bucky, watching Jamie. He gave his eldest son a wink as Katie tore of the paper and gave a little chuckle at the new Kindle.
“He says he’s sorry for chewing your other one.” Jamie popped his shoulder as the dog in question lay in the middle of the floor on his side, tail swishing.
“I’m sure he is.” Katie smiled. “Thanks Stark.”
He looked up and thumped his tails harder against the carpet.
“I already set it up and logged your profile in.  Emmy looked at her. “Dad was gonna try but I stopped him before he screwed it up like the laptop.”
Steve rolled his eyes and Katie chuckled..
“Thanks guys! You know you really didn’t have to. I wasn’t expecting any of this, at all, from any of you.”
“Hey, you aint seen our gift yet.” Sam smirked and Bucky snorted.
Steve looked at them “What did you get?” Bucky ignored him and Sam passed Katie a small gift bag. She pulled out a box and opened it, frowning at the plain white mug.
“Erm…” “Yeah, you need hot water.” Sam nodded and Emmy took the mug from her mother and headed back into the kitchen.
“It changes.” Bucky said simply, and at that point they heard Emmy’s loud laugh ringing down the hallway. She returned carrying the mug, grinning ear to ear as she handed it to Katie. Katie stared at it for a second before he started to laugh as she saw the picture that had appeared with the heat. It was a selfie of Bucky and Sam, in what looked like Central Park, but the pair of them were pulling ridiculous faces. Bucky was cross eyed, Sam had his tongue stuck out and nose scrunched up with his eyes closed, the pair of them were holding up their fingers behind the other one’s head in the peace sign. Along the bottom the words “Don’t you wish your husband was hot like us…and this drink?” glared out at her and she shook her head, her laughter showing no signs of stopping.
“I can’t,” she wiped the tears of mirth from her face as Steve took the mug from her and shook his head, looking at his friends.
“You said stuff she could use, Stevie.” Bucky shrugged.
“Yeah, use in the hospital!” Steve stared at the pair of them.
“And I can!” Katie looked at him. “Be nice to have my own special mugs for drinks.”
“Yeah, see?” Sam nodded “Practical and personal.”
“I love it.” Katie grinned “Thank you.”
Rori, who had been watching all this, walked to her dad and tugged gently at his jeans. He stooped to pick her up and she whispered into his ear. “Is it time for our present now Daddy?”
“Not yet.” He said, looking at Katie who was now talking to Pepper about something, looking far more relaxed than Steve had seen her in days.
“Why not?”
Steve looked at his daughter and took a deep breath. He knew what the kids had made for her was going to set her off again, hell, it had set him off when he had seen it so he knew full well she would appreciate it much more if it was just them around.
“Because I think it’s so special that Momma’s going to need time to look at it properly.”
Rori nodded, accepting his explanation and kissed her dad’s cheek, laying her head in the crook of his shoulder.
Everyone stayed for pizza which Emmy had made, from scratch Katie was impressed to find, having followed her recipe for the dough. The kids rolled a small one out each, decorating with their own toppings whilst Emmy loaded the larger ones for the adults with the standard Rogers favourites, with extra jalapenos for Bucky. Once everyone was stuffed to the brim it was time to say goodbye. Bucky arranged to come back in the morning to be on hand to help Emmy with the other three kids as Steve had a sneaky suspicion that wasn’t going to go as smoothly as they hoped, Rori already making noises about wanting to go with them. He’d told her she couldn’t several times but she’d simply shot him that ‘whatever’ look, thinking she’d get round him as she usually did. At least with Bucky around to help keep their little Diva entertained, Emmy could concentrate on Harry a little more. Jamie, well, he was old enough now to understand and had already promised Steve he would be good for his eldest sister, puffing his chest out slightly as Steve had told him he needed to assume the ‘man of the house role’ whilst he was gone.
The house felt a little empty when everyone had left. Katie sat still for a moment, taking in the quiet before she announced she was going to head upstairs and put her gifts in her bag, but Steve stopped her.
“There’s one more you’ll need to pack too.” He looked at her, and at that Jamie grinned at Rori who immediately skipped off out of the room before she returned holding something behind her back.
“We didn’t know what to get you.” Emmy started to explain as Rori held out the thin book to her mom.
“So we made you something.” Jamie added.
“Daddy helped.” Rori nodded as Katie took the book from her, looking down at the black leather cover upon which the words, ‘Momma’s Memory Book’ were written in beautiful gold stencilling.
Katie ran her hands over the lettering and looked up at her children, beaming before she opened the cover. On the first page, there was a message which had been drawn, the large lettering shaded in various different colours.
‘The best thing about memories is making them, and between us we’ve made a lot.’
Katie smiled and turned the page, her smile growing even wider as the first thing she was greeted with was a picture of her and Steve taken years and years ago, before they even got together, on a night out with the SHIELD team. The pair of them were both looking at each other, Katie’s nose wrinkled in a laugh and Steve’s face sported his trademark, lopsided grin. She looked up at her husband who smiled at her as she continued to look through the book.
The entire thing was littered with photos. From her SHIELD days, through to the Avengers days, photos of her and Natasha, the whole team, one of her and Tony both laughing hysterically in the office, and even some press action shots of her swirling through the air over Sokovia, flying in tandem with Tony.
“Where did you get all these?” She looked up and Steve hesitated for a second before he shrugged.
“Pepper had a lot on the Stark Industries archive and Queens may or may not have helped us acquire some too.”
“His name is Pete.” Emmy narrowed her eyes before she tuned to Katie and grinned. “He cracked the old SHIELD main frame,” she informed her mom, and Katie laughed, “with a bit of help from EDITH.” Katie continued through the pages and eventually she turned to one, which contained a photo of her, Steve and Emmy way back at the first Stark Christmas Party Steve had met Emmy. They were both in their Avengers suits, Emmy stood in front of them, giving a huge toothy grin. Underneath it was a photo of the three of them taken at Emmy’s graduation. Across the page opposite Emmy had written a message – ‘Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones that would do anything to see you smile and love you no matter what. Love you Momma x’
“Oh, Em.” Katie looked up at her, her eyes filling with tears. Emmy smiled and sat down next to Rori.
“Keep going!” Rori demanded. “My pages are the best.” “Shut up, Rori.” Jamie rolled his eys.
“Yeah, shuddup Rowi.” Harry glared at her and Steve arched his eyebrow.
“How about the lot of you shut up.” He spoke, and all the kids turned to him, narrowing their eyes.
Katie turned to the next two pages, which were Jamie’s and contained the photo that Katie adored, the one of him asleep on his dad’s chest when he was merely hours old, and a more up to date photo of him and her in the garden which had been taken on his birthday the year before. He hadn’t written a message, instead his artistic nature had taken over and he’d drawn a number of little sketches. A baseball, Stark’s head, one of his game console controller and an ice cream cone. All little things that were personal to him.
The next two were Rori’s and her baby photo was one of her, Steve and Katie taken the morning after she had been born in their bedroom. Both of them were looking down at her, Steve’s hand gently curled under Katie’s as she held her. The more up to date photo was one of her all her Diva glory as she stood, one hand on her hip, the other flicking her hair out whilst she pouted at the camera. Katie gave a snort at the photo, and then her eyes turned to the page opposite which was basically a collection of cuttings from magazines of all sorts of princess type stuff, and the entire lot was decorated in a fuck tonne of pink and gold glitter which now covered Katie’s hands.
Katie smiled and then turned to Harry’s page. Another baby photo, this time of him clutched to Katie’s chest in the hospital as she kissed his head. His more up to date one had been taken a week or so ago in the garden, wrapped up so much only his eyes were peeking out. Katie had laughed at the time, as his hat kept slipping down over his eyes. The page opposite was a hand print, which had been once more decorated with glitter.
“I helped.” Rori nodded firmly.
The next page contained a photo of Lucky led under his tree, then opposite was Stark sat in the same spot.
And when she turned to the next pages she took a deep breath. They were blank, except for the same writing that was across all the other pages spelling out the kids names, except this one spelt ‘Flossie’.
“It’s so we can add her in.” Jamie nodded and Katie swallowed, the lump in her throat thick as she smiled and turned to the last pages.
On one side was the photo of her and Steve taken at the New Years Eve Gala, their first formal event together, and a photo she could herself probably draw from memory. On the next was one of the pair of them taken at Rori’s birthday party the year before. It had been taken in the evening and Katie was perched on Steve’s knee, both of them flush from alcohol but the same love struck expression that was present in the first was just as evident on Steve’s face as Katie’s wore the exact same happy grin. Underneath Steve had written her a little message ‘Fate whispered to the Warrior ‘You can’t fight the storm’ and the warrior whispered back ‘Oh, but I am the storm’. Love you until the end of the line, Doll. Yours always, Steve xx’
“Guys,” Katie’s voice croaked and she looked up, tears clouding her vision, “this is amazing. I love it.”
“You can look at it when you’re away from us and we’ll be there, isn’t that right Daddy?” Rori asked, looking up at Steve who was choking back his own emotions.
“Sure is.” He nodded.
“Thank you.” Katie said, her voice cracking and all of their kids moved to give her a hug, Harry scrambling onto her knee, his hands tangling into her hair. “I love you all so much.” ***** After a pretty restless night, they were up and out of the house after Katie wished a teary goodbye to everyone. Rori had started to kick up a fuss but Bucky had quickly distracted her with the promise of a trip to the Waffle House and it was Harry that ended up having the meltdown, the fact that his momma was leaving him suddenly registered in his brain. Steve could see Katie was starting to get upset so he took charge and simply ushered her out of the house, Harry’s cries dying down as the door shut behind them. As they drove to the hospital, Katie remained quiet all the way, her hand simply wrapped around his where it lay resting on the central arm rest and he noticed her breathing growing a little more erratic as he pulled off the main road and down the small lane that led to the car lot. He raised his hand and pressed a kiss to her wrist.
This wasn’t the hospital she’d had Jamie or Harry at, this was a different one that Dr Kellet had suggested she might find more comfortable given how long she was going to be there. Katie had said to Steve that she doubted she would feel comfortable anywhere, but when they were shown to the room which Katie was going to call home for the next week or so, she was pleasantly surprised to find that it was more like a hotel room than a hospital suite. It was decorated in soothing neutral colours, the bed was a queen size, which Steve was thankful for as it meant not only could he snuggle up to her, but sleeping on those chairs or camp beds really did his neck in. There was a bathroom with a tub, a wardrobe with a set of drawers in, a small sitting area with a small kitchenette area where she could heat up food and make herself a drink, a two seater couch and a table and a TV on the wall.
The Midwife left them to get settled in and Steve helped her unpack, the pair of them smiling at the various baby grows they’d bought, one of which had been supplied by Bucky and Sam which sported the words ‘You think my dad’s bad, you should meet my uncles.’
Katie set her little memory book on the night stand and then frowned.
“You okay?” Steve asked as he spotted her face.
“Yeah, it’s just, when you go home, can you bring me the photo from my nightstand, you know the photo of all of us at Peppers from the summer?”
Steve arched an eyebrow and then reached into the suitcase and handed it to her. “I popped it in this morning.”
She smiled softly, his ever thoughtful nature always made her feel warm, and she leaned up to kiss him. “My hero.”
It wasn’t long before there was a knock at the door and Dr Kellet arrived, flanked with a midwife and a kindly looking, white haired man who she introduced as the Anaesthetist. Despite the fact Katie knew what was going to happen off by heart, they went through it all again, and then it was time for her to get ready.
In a trance Katie changed, and before she knew it, it was time to start. She was led down to the theatre room and directed onto the bed. Once the IV was inserted she was instructed to lay on her side ready for the epidural. Steve helped her shift over, un-surprised to find that she was already trembling. He took her hand and leaned forward in his seat and she looked at him, her green eyes wide with fear and tears. He gently ran his other hand over her hair as he pressed his forehead to hers.
“Okay, Mrs Rogers, this shouldn’t take long at all.” the Anaesthetist spoke calmly to her, but Katie didn’t respond other than to reach for Steve’s hand. Her fingers laced through his and he raised them slightly, pressing a soft kiss to her finger, just above the place where her rings sat.
“You look ridiculous in that.” She said quietly, her eyes roving Steve’s hospital gown and he gave a smile.
“As ridiculous as the first Cap suit you saw me in?”
“I liked that suit.” She muttered, as she flinched a little as the anaesthetists hand touched her bare skin through the back of her gown.
“As much as the Stealth one?” Steve asked, but other than giving him a smile she didn’t reply as she was busy trying to blank out the fact that she could feel a sharp scratch where the needle had pierced her skin. But her attempts to focus on where she was were not working. For a horrible moment she was back in that painfully bright HYDRA cell, as three men pinned her to the floor, her body already violated and battered, whilst they stuck whatever fucking shitty chemical it was into her spine leaving her paralysed from the waist down for hours, laughing as she was forced to drag herself over the floor.
Steve instantly spotted that she was gone from the way her eyes were scrunched shut, her breathing deep. She was absolutely petrified. Swallowing slightly he did the only thing he could think to.
“Eyes on me.” He spoke, his voice stern and she opened them to see him looking at her. “I got you.” he promised, his eyes locked onto hers, his thumb gently arching over her knuckles. “Always.”
“Okay, all done.” The Anaesthetist announced and Katie let out a shaky sob.
“Well done Mrs Rogers.” Dr Kellet spoke softly and Steve smiled, brushing Katie’s face with his hand.
“You did it, baby.” He smiled softly “Hardest part is over.”
Whilst that seemed such a ridiculous notion, considering she had yet to go through the actual operation, Steve, and everyone in the room for that matter, thanks to Dr Kellet’s coaching, knew that the through of a needle in her spine rendering her numb from the waist down was the biggest issue here.  And Steve was grateful for the gentle nature they’d all conducted the procedure with.
“Okay, you ready to lay back?” Dr Kellet asked and Katie nodded. Steve stood up, taking over, helping her get as comfortable as she could.
Then, Dr Kellet, looked around the room and started barking orders to the various staff in the room, all of whom were scrubbed up. A heart and blood pressure monitor were attached to Katie, along with sensors to monitor Flossie, and then Steve watched as two nurses began to wheel the screens into place which would block Katie’s lower body from her and his view and then he turned back to his wife.
“Wonder if Rori has managed to paint Bucky’s toenails yet.”
Katie snorted “She’ll probably be sticking fridge magnets to his arm.”
“He loves it.” Steve smiled.
“He loves her.” Katie corrected him. “He loves all of them.”
“And this one is gonna be no exception.” Steve smiled. “You know, I hope she looks like you too.”
“We’ll find out soon enough.” Katie said.
Soon enough turned out to be fifty-five minutes later.
“And here she is.” Dr Kellet moved, gently rounding the screens and placing Florence onto Katie’s chest. Katie gave a little gasp as she held her daughter for the first time, her tiny face screwed up as she cried, all pink and soft. Her noises died down somewhat as she pressed against her mother’s chest and Steve glanced down at her, sniffing slightly as he pressed a kiss to Katie’s forehead.
“She’s perfect.” Katie breathed, her eyes watering, “Hi Flossie.” She studied her daughter for a moment, trying to get a lock on her features, but she was slightly different to what any of the others had looked like. Jamie had been recognisable as Steve instantly, Rori as her, and there’d been features of them both they’d spotted in Harry but here, well, she looked like Steve in some ways, she had the same eye shape and nose, but then in others she didn’t particularly look like either of them. It was strange. She turned to look at Steve to mention it to him and then frowned a little as the tears were pouring down his face.
“Soldier?” she frowned, “What’s…” He wiped his eyes and took a deep breath, reaching out with a large hand to softly smooth over his baby daughter’s head. “She er,” he swallowed and then looked at Katie, smiling through his tears “she looks like my Ma.”
Katie’s own eyes misted over as she looked down at her baby, then back to her husband who was sat perched on the bed besides her. One of the midwives came over to take Flossie for the routine scores and clean up, before she was then brought back, and handed to Steve, wrapped in a soft pink blanket. He held her gently in his strong arms, staring down at the face that was sparking a million and one memories, before he placed a shaky kiss to her head.
“I’ve just had an idea for a middle name.” He looked at Katie who glanced up at him. That was still something up that point they hadn’t come to an agreement on. “What do you think about Saoirse?”
Katie smiled. “That’s unusual. I like it.” “It’s Irish.” He looked at her, then down to Flossie who lay still in his arms apart from the odd wrinkle of her nose and opening of her mouth. “It means Freedom.” “I love it.” Katie beamed “It’s perfect. What made you think of that.” “It was my Ma’s middle name.” Steve whispered, his eyes once more on Flossie.
“Wait, your Ma’s initials were SSR?” Katie looked at Steve who glanced at her for a moment as her words sunk in at which point he let out a loud chuckle.
“Yeah, so they were.” He grinned “Huh, how ‘bout that?”
******
Of course, giving birth is only one part of the journey as they both knew only too well, but whilst a C-section delivery left Katie feeling slightly less drained than the other three it brought with it a whole heap of other issues, the biggest being that as Flossie had been delivered five weeks earlier and by section, Katie’s milk hadn’t come in. Whilst, again, during the run up to the birth they had been warned that this could take a few days, what Katie hadn’t been prepared for was the utter helplessness she felt when she had tried and failed. Coupled with the fact that Flossie was finding it hard to feed due to her airway and throat being full of mucus, a very common issue with C-section babies, Katie was getting herself more and more worked up, the ever patient midwife simply remained on hand attempting to calm her down and assure her everything was perfectly normal and that being formula fed plus plenty of skin to skin contact would be perfectly fine.
Eventually they managed to get Florence comfortable and she took her first feed from the bottle, her cheeks working hungrily as Katie held her, Steve led on the bed, his arm curled round Katie’s shoulders.
“I’m so proud of you.” He whispered, kissing her head, his voice slightly choked. “So fuckin’ proud sweetheart.”
The second issue that Katie was struggling with was that because she had undergone major surgery, it was advised that there were no visitors until the following day. Again, this had been explained to them both prior to her admission, but once more Katie hadn’t realised how bad that would make her feel. She missed her other kids terribly and started to get a little bit emotional when she thought about them at home without either of them. But the wonders of modern technology allowed the pair of them to video call back home and introduce Flossie to the clan, Rori providing some well needed comic relief.
“I thought she would look like me?” She said rather indignantly as she was shown Flossie on the camera. “She’s all pink and wrinkly and….”
“Well, so were you.” Steve smiled at her “But besides, I told you, you’re one of a kind, Princess.”
Rori’s green eyes blinked at her father and she shrugged. “Well, dur…I know that, but she’s a girl. She’s supposed to look like me and momma.” “She actually looks like your daddy’s momma.” Katie smiled. “Your nanna Sarah.” Rori paused, and then shook her head. “How can she look like an old woman? She’s a baby.” At that Steve let out a loud bark of a laugh as Katie chuckled slightly, trying not to laugh too much as, well frankly it fucking hurt.
“Oh Rori.” Steve chuckled, shaking his head. “Don’t ever change.”
She looked back at him on the screen and shrugged “Whatever, here Emmy you can have the phone.”
And with that she was gone.
Steve stayed with Katie that night, helping her with the night shift as she was struggling to move around as freely as she should due to the operation, but the pair of them managed. Steve didn’t say anything to Katie, but the fact he could feed Flossie during the first night was kind of nice for him and it also allowed Katie to sleep and recover as best she could.
As day broke, the Soldier found himself stood in his sweat pants and T-shirt, simply looking out of the window over the garden area of the hospital as the first rays of light streamed onto the frosty grass outside, nursing his baby daughter.
“Steve?” Katie’s voice was thick with sleep and he turned to look at her as she gave him a tired smile. “Is she ok?” “She’s fine sweetheart.” He smiled, crossing back over the room. “Do you want her?”
Katie nodded as she shuffled up, wincing a little, and once she was comfortable, Steve handed Florence over so Katie could finish off the feed.
The midwife was in a little later and told Katie that she could shower before they checked her wound and then that she should take a little walk around the ward, with Steve’s help, to encourage the blood flow to her legs.
“You might need some help showering, too.” She said, looking at Katie who shook her head.
“Managed fine the other times.” “Yeah, but last time you hadn’t had an operation.” Steve looked at her. “Don’t be stubborn.” “Pot kettle.” She mumbled, “I can manage perfectly fine.”
Steve sighed and looked at the Midwife who opened her mouth and Katie shot her a glare.
“Don’t.” She said sternly. “I’m fine. Yes, I know the heat can make my blood pressure drop, I’ve done this three other times, damned it.” Steve let out a growl of frustration as Katie began to shift and he stepped forward to help her. “They’re just doing their job.” “Yeah, well, I want a shower.”
Steve helped her out of bed and she took a few shaky steps towards the bathroom, Steve picking up her toiletry bag in one hand. He took her into the bathroom and she looked at him and he held his hands up.
“Fine, but I’m gonna be right outside.” “Whatever.” Katie grumbled, shutting the door in his face.
Steve looked at the midwife and gave her an apologetic look.
“It’s perfectly normal.” The woman waved him away. “Her moods will be up and down for a while Mr Rogers, especially following the hysterectomy. The main thing is you keep an eye on her.” Steve nodded and headed back to the small living area of the room, flipping on the kettle, his eyes flicking to Flossie as she slept in the basinet. It was about two minutes later when he heard a heavy thud from the bathroom. With a slight panic he moved quickly across the room, opened the door and pulled the shower curtain back so fast he tore half off the rings. Katie was sat down, and she looked at him, tears in her eyes. He leaned over, brushing her wet hair out of her eyes and she pressed her forehead against his chest, neither one caring that he was getting soaked.
“Don’t say a word.” Katie shook her head, sniffing “Not one word.” “I wouldn’t dream of it.” Steve said honestly, this was most certainly not an I told you so moment.
“Is she okay?” the midwife asked from the door.
Katie looked up at him, pleading with him, tears of frustration in her eyes and he pulled the trailing shower curtain round her a little more.
“She’s fine,” he said, blocking her from view, “just dropped the shampoo and can’t bend for it.”
There was a pause before the nurse spoke again. “I’ll be in the office if you need anything.”
Steve watched her go before he turned to Katie, weighing up his options. Decision made, he stepped into the shower fully, crouching down. Katie curled her fingers into his sopping shirt, sniffing slightly as he helped her to her feet.
“Hey,” he said, smoothing her hair back. “Doll, i’s ok.”
“You can say I told you so now.” Katie grumbled into his shoulder, blinking back tears of frustration.
“Wouldn’t dream of it.” He shook his head, gently washing the remnants of the soap off her body and from her hair before she handed him the conditioner.
“I feel so stupid. Can’t even manage a shower.” She sniffed as he gently massaged it into her hair
“Honey, you had a huge operation yesterday.” Steve pressed an affectionate kiss to the top of her head as the water drummed down on them both. “You need to give yourself time.” Once they were done, Steve made sure Katie was wrapped in her robe before he stripped out of his soaking clothes and wrapped a towel around his waist. He hovered as Katie made it slowly across the room and once he was happy she was settled on the bed he grabbed himself a change of clothes and dressed before taking his seat in the chair next to the bed.
****
It was later that afternoon when the first visitors arrived, both Steve and Katie beaming as their kids walked into the room with Bucky. As they all shrugged off their jackets and various outer layers, Bucky turned to take Rori’s from her and Steve let out a snort as he spotted something on the back of Bucky’s arm. It was a yellow and black fridge magnet that sported the words ‘Wakanda Forever’ and had once been part of the traditional Christmas ale and liquor package T’Challa sent him each year.
Bucky spun to look at him and Steve handed him the magnet, smirking as Bucky shook his head, groaning.
“That’s nothing.” His eyes flicking to Rori who was perched on the bed, peering down at Flossie “I don’t know how you cope with her, Steve, she’s a fucking nightmare. Last night she made me sit through Mary Poppins whilst she sang and danced to it in front of the TV, because, apparently, she is much better than the actual actors.” Steve snorted and clapped his hand on Bucky’s shoulder.
“I tell you,” Bucky continued, “give me a base full of HYDRA operatives to take down over that Diva any day.”
Once Flossie had been cuddled and held by everyone in the room and they’d had a spot of lunch which turned up later with Jen, the kids and Bucky headed off, Harry almost having another meltdown until Steve, spotting it, crouched down in front of his youngest son and told him to be a brave boy and that he could see his momma the very next day after Day Care. Accepting this, he wiped his tears and gave his parents both a hug. And then it was Rori’s turn, tearfully asking her dad when he would be home.
“Tonight.” Katie spoke gently “Daddy will be home with you all tonight and then you can come visit tomorrow okay?” And that’s how it went. It was strange for Steve, as for the first time his baby and wife weren’t home the day after they’d been born but that simply wasn’t possible. Katie was recovering well, and the doctors had said that she should be able to head home within the week as predicted originally, but still it felt strange. That said, the Rogers house fell into a simple and easy routine. Steve and Emmy would usher them all out of bed, get them breakfast, then deposit them at either school or Day Care before Emmy would head to work and Steve would come to the hospital. Then, he’d collect the kids, bring them to see Katie for a few hours, before he took them home.
It was hard, as he wanted to be with Katie all the time, but he knew he had the others to look after too so they managed the best they could.
It didn’t escape him however, how down Katie was. She had a steady stream of visitors with Pepper and Morgan, Jen, Happy and Rhodey all popping in to meet Flossie but he could just see it in her face, she was fed up. By the fifth day she tearfully told him she was bored. So they wrapped up and went for a small walk outside, Flossie bundled in a huge, warm baby snug and clutched to Steve’s chest in the baby sling, as they slowly wandered the grounds.
It wasn’t the days she struggled with though, it was the nights when Steve left. Katie knew if she asked him to stay he would come back once he had sorted the kids out but she didn’t want the others to miss out. So instead she simply kept reminding herself that it wasn’t for much longer, a few more days and she would be free to be at home with them all.
On the Thursday evening, however, at around eight pm, not long after Steve had headed home, there was a little knock on her door and Bucky poked his head into the room. Katie smiled as she looked up from where she had been sat on the sofa reading.
“What are you doing here?”
He held up a bag which Katie recognised instantly as being from Jen’s Coffee Shop. “Jen said before you seemed a little down and you may benefit from some kind of chocolate fix. So, here I am. Winter Soldier turned Delivery Boy.”
He handed her the bag and sat down opposite her as Katie peeked inside and groaned as she saw the six large, gooey brownies looking at her.
“She was gonna come up herself but her dad’s not so good.” He said and Katie smiled.
“She was here most of the afternoon.” She shook her head “I’ll message her later, tell her thanks.” “How you doing?” Bucky asked, and when she looked at him, he smiled “And tell me honestly, I’m not Steve. You don’t gotta hide it from me.” She looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears. “I hate it Buck, I just wanna be home.” With a sigh he stood up and moved so he was sat next to her, curling his arm round her as she leaned into him. She began to cry and Bucky gently soothed her as she let all of the emotions she had been feeling over the last few days, but trying to hide, out in a torrent of tears and sobs.
“Not long now, Doll Face.” He soothed. “Steve said before you should be home Sunday at the latest.” “I know it’s just,” she sat up and wiped her eyes, “even when I go home I’ve got weeks of recovery ahead and…” “And you’ll be fine.” Bucky looked at her. “You just gotta take it easy for a while, and I know that’s easier said than done with the kids but you got a lot of support. You know that, right?” “I know.” She smiled, before she sighed. “Don’t tell Steve about this, please? He’d insist on staying and I don’t want the kids to be without him, they need him as much as I do.” “Promise.” He smiled, before he looked at the bag on the table. “Now, how about I put the kettle on and we dig into those?” Katie smiled, before she grinned “My mug is over there.” “Excellent.” Bucky stood up, moving to grab it, before he smirked and looked at her cheekily. “I finally, after all these years, get to see what you look like with your mouth wrapped around me.” “James Buchanan Barnes!” Katie gasped, shaking her head as he let out a cheeky laugh, moving to fill the kettle up. “If Steve was here to hear that he’d be ripping your other arm clean off!”
“Like to see him try.” Bucky shrugged, tossing a tea bag into each cup.
***** Of course Bucky told Steve. Not entirely, as he didn’t want to break Katie’s confidence, but he did call Steve later that night as he drove home to his and Jen’s place to let him know she was feeling a little down. Steve felt like shit, he really did. He was finding this whole thing so hard but he knew that was nothing compared to how his wife must be feeling. It was one of the hardest things he had ever had to do. It eclipsed any of the missions they’d run with the Avengers…
And then he was struck with an idea. Oh, and it was good…if he could pull it off…
Reaching for his phone, he selected the names of the people he could reach, parking the one he couldn’t for a second and tapped out a simple message.
‘Avengers, assemble’
*****
The next day, Katie could tell Steve was up to something, she always could. As they were sat watching the morning TV shows as Flossie lay against Katie’s chest, sleeping, every so often he would check his watch. But she didn’t say anything, whatever he was up to he clearly wanted it to be a surprise.
And it certainly was when ten minutes later a familiar faced poked his head through the door.
“How you doing Nova?”
“Oh my God, Clint!” She beamed up at him as he crossed the room, the huge bunch of flowers held out. He placed a kiss to her cheek as Steve stood, shaking his hand and clapping the archer on the back. “How did-“ “Well, Cap messaged and I thought I’d come meet the latest Rogers addition.”
“Latest and the last.” Katie smiled as she passed Flossie to Steve who handed him over to Clint so he could give the baby a cuddle.
“Oh she’s gorgeous!” Clint smiled. “Florence right?”
“Yeah, Flossie for short.”
“You did good, Stark.” Clint grinned and Katie smiled, her attention flying to the door as once more it opened, the entire space being taken up by the hulking frame of Banner as he stooped to step into the room.
“Hey guys.” He smiled, and Katie stood up and made her way over to him. He gave her a gentle hug before she pulled back.
“It’s so good to see you both.” She beamed.
But before she could say anything else there was suddenly a loud commotion outside the room, and a very familiar voice boomed down the corridor. Katie felt her mouth drop open as she spun to Steve.
“You…”
Steve smiled and nodded.
“Thank you for your assistance, Lady Doctor.” The voiced travelled towards them and the door opened again, the familiar face of the God of Thunder beaming around at them.
“Friends!” His eyes flashed as he stepped into the room. “It has been too long.” Katie felt her eyes misting up as Thor crossed the room towards her, his hand dropping to the side of her neck in that affectionate way it always had.
“Hey Thunder God.” She sniffed.
“Little Stark.” He smiled, his face creased with emotion. “I hear you have given birth to another.” “Yeah, she’s,” Katie smiled, nodding to where Flossie was now back in Steve’s arms, Banner examining her, “she’s beautiful.” “I expect nothing else from a Little, Little Stark.” Thor beamed as he crossed the room to examine the baby. “What name have you given to her?” “Florence Saoirse.” Katie smiled “Flossie for short.”
“Flossie. I like it!” Thor grinned as he looked down at the baby.
“You got the message then?” Steve asked, passing Flossie into Thor’s strong arms. He had to admit, the God looked well. They’d seen him a handful of times since the final battle, he was spending a lot of time off planet but each time he re-appeared he looked better. And now, well he reminded Steve of the Thor he had first met.
“Yes, Valkyrie managed to contact me.” Thor nodded, his eyes fixed on the baby in his arms. “I was in the middle of a very tense game of Quadroblin with a man on Contraxia that Rabbit had roped me into. I was very glad of the excuse to escape.” Clint, Steve, Banner and Katie exchanged a glance before they looked at Thor.
“You have never heard of Quadroblin?” Thor asked, frowning a little as he looked round the room.
“No.” Clint arched an eyebrow.
“It is a very simple game, it involves four dice and various body parts…” “Yeah, okay, we don’t need to know.” Katie cut him off as she walked over to where Steve was stood. He dropped an arm round her shoulder and kissed her head. “Can you help me sit down?” She whispered to him and he nodded.
“Of course, Honey.” He said gently. As the two of them made their way over to the sofa, Banner and Clint were talking furiously, catching up as they hadn’t seen each other for over two years since they had visited post Harry’s birth. Thor was busy, now mumbling something to Flossie and Katie recognised the look on his face as being the same one he had adopted when he had held Jamie, Rori and Harry for the first time. He was giving Flossie an ancient Asgardian Blessing. His eyes were glowing with lightning fire as he held his hand gently over her forehead, his lips moving softly.
“Hey, Thor.” Katie spoke when he had finished and he looked at her, his eyes returning to their piercing blue. “You know, there’s a vacancy for Godfather if you want it. I mean Jamie has Banner and Rhodey, Rori has Bucky and Sam, Harry has Clint, Flossie doesn’t have anyone yet.” Steve squeezed Katie’s shoulder, as he agreed with his wife’s idea. “And who better than the actual God of Thunder?” He looked up at Thor, smiling.
Thor beamed, his eyes filling with tears as he glanced down at the baby in his arms. “I would be honoured.”
“Does this mean she will be worthy?” Clint asked, flopping down onto the arm of the sofa and Thor looked at him. “To wield your hammer, I mean?”
Thor chuckled. “It doesn’t work like that. The hammer makes its own decisions and it can also change its mind.”
“It’s a hammer.” Clint deadpanned. “Made of metal. It’s an inanimate object.” “No, no, Barton, it is much more than that. It has feelings.” “Whatever man, it’s a hammer, made of metal. How can it have feelings?”
“It deems you worthy at a certain point in time so you may lift it. It could therefore deem you unworthy as well at a future point.” Thor shrugged, matter of factly.
“I still think it’s a trick.” Clint rolled his eyes and Thor snorted, looking down at Flossie.
“If it was a trick then explain why the Captain was able to not only lift it but use it to summon the lightning that day during the Final Battle?”
Everyone fell silent and looked at Steve who gave a modest shrug. “You think you could still lift it, Cap?” Bruce looked at Steve who held his hands up, snorting.
“I have no intention of trying ever again.” He winked at Katie who smiled at him, before she lay her head on his shoulder and looked around the room which was full of five of the original seven Avengers. Two of their number might not be with them any longer, but the memory of them both was very much alive, especially as the chat inevitably turned to discussions of their Avengers days, memories being recalled, tears of laughter and sadness being shared.
Eventually, it was getting a little late in the afternoon and Steve knew Bucky would be arriving with the kids and having a room full would be simply too much to cope with. Thankfully, Clint could read the signs well enough with having three kids of his own and stood up, announcing he should be going. Thor and Banner followed suit and, after some emotional goodbyes they waved their friends out, listening to Barton and Thor’s good natured bickering as they left, the room falling silent and feeling slightly empty.
“Thank you.” Katie looked up at Steve and he turned to her, smiling.
“Well it occurred to me last night that this was the hardest mission I think we’ve ever run.” He said softly, “Thought it was only right that the five of us left came together.” “I wish it were still seven.” Katie said softly, peering down at Flossie who lay in her arms.
“I know.” Steve sat next to her, curling an arm round her shoulder.
The pair of them gazed down at their daughter, smiling softly as she moved her tiny fist, pressing it against her cheek.
Steve already knew the answer to Barton’s question. As far as he was concerned she was worthy, just like the woman that gave birth to her.
