Dad!Spencer forgetting to take a hair clip out of his hair that his daughter put in earlier that morning 🤭 and nobody telling him until he goes home LMAO
Georgia has a cutesie little routine with her dad, he does her hair and she does his.
This morning Spencer has spent the better half of twenty minutes braiding her hair back and out of her face.
“Daddy, can you put the ribbons in today? The orange ones, please?” It would clash with her outfit but who is Spencer to deny her that?
“Course Georgia, on both braids or one tying them both together?”
He likes giving her choices like this, letting her decide little things so she feels she has a say. Spencer likes her to be knowledgeable and a little independent- but not too much, he still wants her to need you both.
“Invididually,” he smiles at how she says it and nods.
“Individually, you got it.” He ties the ribbons in cute little bows and then pats her back. “All done, go get breakfast with your mom.”
She starts to hop off the stool she’s stood on and then stops. “Wait. Daddy?” Her eyebrows pulled tight together as she reaches in her hair bag.
“Yes, sweetheart?” Spencer looks equally perturbed.
“Can I put this one in your hair? So we match?” He nods and kneels down, letting her little hands push back his hair and set the orange clip in his hair.
Breakfast is busy, as it usually is with a five year old. She wants waffles and you and Spencer spend a little time coaxing yogurt and fruit on her plate.
You pack her lunch kit, pack yours and then Spencer’s and you’re all rushing out of the door- you need to beat traffic.
You kiss Spencer goodbye and you both rush off- you to drop Georgia and Spencer to the bau.
His day doesn’t get less busy, an all paperwork day, so he’s stuck at his desk and while he gets weird looks from Derek, he doesn’t take it on much.
It’s not unusual at all.
“Okay guys, get home. We’re not getting much else and we’re all updated on the paperwork.” Hotch makes the announcement around four thirty and Spencer sighs, cracking his knuckles as he stretches in his chair.
“Alright, I’m headed home guys. Georgia started fractions today and that math is never good for six year olds.”
He’s packing his back and catches a look of himself in his laptop’s reflection before he closes it.
“Oh shit,” he mumbles, turning round Emily and JJ. “Did I have it in all day?”
They both nod, JJ smiles gently. “It’s a good look Spence, a nice touch from Georgia.”
“She’s getting better at gripping your hair back. Fine motor fully developed.” Emily compliments.
He blushes but doesn’t even bother to take it out, knowing she’s going to love it that he’s kept it in all day.

Tumblr media
“Mama, I have my Christmas list ready!” Matilda announced, a bright smile on her face revealing the front tooth that the tooth fairy had recently come to take. She was a spitting image of Spencer, beautiful honey colored irises and soft brunette curls that framed her face, not to mention her intellect and her determination that no doubt her father had an influence on.
“Your Christmas list? You’re early,” You smiled fondly as you looked over at the flower filled calendar on the wall closest to the stove, your coffee cup held comfortably between your hands. “Let me hear it, come on!” You urge on, an excited grin on your face.
You always loved Christmas, however having Matilda just made the holidays so much better. Nothing compared to seeing her excitement whenever you’d place wrapped gifts under your Christmas tree, or when you’d ask her to help you make Christmas treats that her and Spencer would end up eating just days after they were made.
You wouldn’t trade it for anything.
“Well. I would like an American Girl doll, Rebecca Rubin to be exact.” Not a surprise. She loved dolls, her father spoiling her with any accessory or set she asked for. “And then I would like some light up sneakers, please. Sam has some at school and I think they are so cool!” She continued. The rest of the things she lifted were usual for a little girl. Until she got to the last thing on that list.
“And then I want a little brother or sister.” She concluded, a wide grin on your face. The mere suggestion had you nearly choking on the mouthful of coffee, your eyes widening some. “Uncle Luke and aunt Penny said that I have to write it in my list so it happens!”
Penelope and Luke. Classic.
“A baby brother or sister?” You repeated, watching those beautiful curls bounce as the kindergartner nodded her head. “You do know that they won’t be here in time for Christmas if that happens, right?” You asked, wanting to break it gently to her that even if she got what she wanted, it would be well past Christmas before she got a sibling.
“Oh. I know. Babies grow in mommy’s bellies for nine whole months. Which seems like a long time but I think it’ll go by fast! Oh please, mama?! A baby would be cute and cuddly, even whenever they are cranky!”
The begging was tugging at your heart. She really wanted this, didn’t she? You and Spencer were financially stable enough for you to stay home while he worked with the BAU, not to mention that you both could definitely handle Matilda and a new baby. “You know I have to talk to daddy about this before we make a decision.”
After that, the idea of another baby was stuck in your mind. Your first pregnancy was rough, however you still really did enjoy the process of growing a future scholar who would change the world. Just thinking about it had you reminiscing, especially when it came to being pregnant. You could remember every appointment, the announcement to your friends and families, all the excitement that you and Spencer felt with every heartbeat and every little kick.
Your husband had gotten home relatively early on a Saturday evening after a long case in Tampa, Florida. He was toeing his shoes off by the front door in an effort to surprise you and Matilda, the two of you unaware he was even coming home today. You were in the kitchen making dinner while your shared daughter was at the table, happily coloring in her new coloring book.
It was a blissful sight, the domesticity of it all bringing normalcy to Spencer’s busy and sometimes abnormal feeling life. “You two look peaceful,” He decided to speak up, Matilda quickly turning in her chair to look at her father. With a wide smile and teary eyes, she was quickly leaping from the chair to run into your husband’s expecting arms. “Hi!” He chuckled fondly while kissing her cheek sweetly.
“I missed you!” She whined out, keeping a tight hold on her father. “I thought you weren’t gonna home until after Christmas!” She added on, making Spencer’s heart drop. He loved his job but he hated being away for what could’ve been weeks at a time. That was the hardest part.
“Hey, I’m home now and I’m gonna be here for Christmas. I promise. In fact,” He was picking up Matilda while resting her on his hip. “I need to see your Christmas list!” He grinned while bouncing his daughter. “Mama, where’s the list?” Spencer then asked as he turned his attention to you.
“Oh, mama needs to talk to you about that!” The six year old in his arms perked up, making Spencer look at you with an amused, yet questionable look.
“Talk to me? About what? Don’t tell me that Tilly wants to get a car or something already.” Spencer teased. A car might’ve been easier convincing depending on how he felt about expanding the family.
“Not exactly a car,” You laughed a bit while grabbing the list that had been neatly folded and stuck to the fridge with a magnet. “She wants a new American girl doll, a new accessory set to go with said doll, light up sneakers, a dollhouse,” You paused while reading over the last item. “And a baby brother or sister.”
Spencer felt like the items on the list were easy enough. A doll, some accessories, a dollhouse and sneakers. He could knock that out with just one shopping trip. However whenever he heard the last item, his eyes nearly bulged out of his head. “A new brother or sister, huh?” He asked slowly, glancing at the little girl who smiled widely.
“I know the baby won’t be here for Christmas, daddy.” Matilda just knew by the look in his eyes that he didn’t wanna break the news she’d have to wait for that. Her reassurance had him taking in a breath of relief though. That little girl was too smart for her own good.
“Well. That’s a big decision. You think you’re ready to be a big sister? Cause babies are a lot of work.” Spencer asked, a smile on his face at her sheer excitement he was entertaining the idea. “They cry a lot. Plus, they always need a lot of attention. That’ll mean that sometimes mama and daddy will be busy with the baby.” He said softly while rubbing her back.
“I know and it’s okay! Babies need more help because they can’t really eat on their own or go potty in the bathroom, so that’s why you and mommy will need to pay extra attention sometimes. But babies are small and cute! And they always want cuddles!” Now that sounded like something Penelope Garcia would say of course she’d gotten to Matilda about the idea. She was just saying at the office that she was wanting another baby around.
You offered a smile. “Well, it sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into it, Tilly! You know that me and dad have to talk about it though, as grownups.” You added, although judging by your husband’s wide smile and the twinkle in his eye, he was already sold on the entire Christmas list. Well, maybe this was easier to convince than a new car.
After dinner and baths were in order, it  wasn’t long before you and Spencer were tucking Matilda into bed for the night. Gently closing the door behind you both, Spencer finally turned his attention to you. “A new baby. Wow..” He brought up the idea immediately, his arms gently wrapping around your waist. “How do you feel about the idea?”
You smiled, body leaning back against his as you let out a soft hum of content. “Well, at first I was wary. Then the more I thought about it.. The more I really wanted it.” You said softly, head tilting up to face him more. “I mean, I think we’ve got this parenting thing down. Plus, I miss being pregnant and having a baby around. I feel like it’s going to be a positive change for us. Parents of two.”
That was all Spencer needed to hear to have him sold completely. “I agree. We are pretty good at this.” He chuckled a bit while moving to press a kiss to the top of your head. “It’s always fun trying too, huh? Maybe All our practicing will pay off.” He teased, making you laugh as you were playfully hitting his arm. “Hey! I’m just saying what we are both thinking!” He laughed in return.
The both of you had retired to your bedroom for the night, gently closing the door behind you both. “It’s so good to have you home. I’ve missed you.” You sighed, offering a smile as you were heading over to sit on the edge of your shared bed. “It’s just not the same without you home but I know you have to save the world.” You smiled fondly, watching as your husband was shedding from his clothes.
“I know, honey. I miss being home with you and Tilly more than anything when I have to be gone.” Spencer expressed his own feelings before heading over to you, kneeling in front of you with a soft smile. “But I’m glad to be home now,” He began, pressing kisses to your legs while getting settled between them. His hands were working on the button of your shorts before tugging them down your legs. “Besides, I’m gonna be here for the holidays and I even took the time off to make sure of it.” He hummed, his kisses moving to your inner thighs.
“Working on the list early, I see.” You teased, brushing the mop of brunette curls from your husband’s face as he was playfully nipping on your plush inner thigh, lifting his head.
“Guilty. I feel like this is the most expensive present Tilly is getting.” He teased, the both of you sharing a little giggle before he was going right back to where he started.
Those kisses ended with your hips being tugged close to the end of the bed, his tongue lapping over your clothed clit. “God, I’ve missed you.” He murmured, hands working to tug your panties down your legs. Spencer was absolutely pleased with the sight of your glistening pussy, mouth salivating at the sight. It had been far too long for his liking.
“Pretty girl. You look like you’ve missed me too.” He purred, tongue moving to flick over your throbbing bud, only chuckling as you were already clutching his hair. He didn’t make an effort to tease you long, tongue already delving into the warmth of your cunt as he was so focused on drinking every ounce of your essence, taking whatever you had to give him.
“Spencer, fuck.” You squeaked, legs practically locking around his head to keep him in place as he was too drunk on lapping and sucking at your desperate pussy. The thought of a new baby excited him in more ways than one.
There was the calm and innocent way that just had him thrilled to have a new baby and expand your beautiful family. Then there was the dirty and not so innocent side of him that knew there would be a lot of nights where he was stuffing your pussy just in an effort to get that positive test. Just the thought of his cum dripping down your trembling thighs was enough to have him hard as a rock, his cock begging for attention while he was so focused on giving you all of his.
While his tongue feverishly lapped at your wetness, his hands were gripping your hips just a little tighter. Truth be told, Spencer could get off merely from cunnilingus alone. He fed off of your pleasure, the way you would shove his head more into your weeping cunt for more was enough to make his cock twitch in his boxers right now.
Although even through all the excitement, he was soon pulling away from your pussy much to both of your dissatisfaction. “I feel like I’m gonna cum in my boxers and I’m not wasting what I could be giving you,” He added on, breathing labored as he was quickly getting up to shed his boxers while you were quick to do away with your clothes on your torso, shirt and bra thrown somewhere out of sight and out of mind.
With one hand tugging at his cock, the other was quickly helping you scoot back on your bed, knowing you’d end up flying off if he dared pull you even just an inch closer from your current spot.
“Comfortable?” He asked, watching you simply grab his arm to pull him on top of you. You didn’t even mind the feeling of his body crushing you for a split second, you knew that you needed him, now. Spencer was adjusting himself into a more comfortable position on top of you, his hand sliding between your thighs. He collected some of your arousal on his fingers before holding them up to show them off to you.
You knew what was coming next, your mouth now open as you were waiting for the intrusion of his fingers. He learned it was the easiest way to keep you quiet when you needed to be. As you took the digits in your mouth, you were sucking on his fingers. “There we go.” Spencer praised as he was shifting, now pushing his leaking cock into your pussy with a soft groan.
“I love you.” He breathed, letting his hips slowly snap against yours just to build you up for what was to come. Your face was contorted in pleasure as you muffled an ‘I love you’ around his fingers in return.
The thought of you being pregnant was bringing out an animalistic side of your normal gentle husband. He loved seeing you pregnant with your first, it made him feel like he was finally contributing to society in the aspect of bringing another potential genius into the world who would do amazing things. The way you looked swollen with his child filled him with pride.
It was also a bragging right. Yes, he had your hand in marriage but he also cemented the fact you were his. You were getting filled with his cum, begging him to ravage you the way you deserved. He was the only one who could make you feel good.
The thought of you being pregnant with his second child was enough to make his thrusts get harder and faster. It was the ultimate act of love to carry his child, to raise a family with him. The ultimate act of intimacy of allowing him to know the pleasures of a family and a successful marriage.
You were squirming underneath him, eyes rolling to the back of your head as Spencer was all too focused on the images flooding his mind. “I’m gonna cum.” He panted. “You want me to fill you up? Give you a baby? Fuck.” Cursing was pretty rare for Spencer but just the mere slip of a curse word had your pussy clenching around his cock, signaling you were ready as well.
With a few more sloppy snaps of his thrusts, you could feel the warmth of his spent flooding your cunt, your legs trembling as the sensation was enough to have you reaching your climax. “Fuck.” You panted, your husband’s fingers now being pulled out of your mouth.
His face was flushed, brunette curls plastered to his sweaty forehead as he looked down at you. “You know, I wish we had this idea before. Christmas is coming up so soon, we won’t even be able to get a positive test for her in time for the holiday if we get lucky after this time.”
“I think that Tilly is gonna be happy either way, to be fairly honest. You should’ve seen the way she looked at me when she was asking for a new sibling. She was so excited.” You recalled, smiling in content as you were slowly, but surely, catching your breath.
With soft eyes, Spencer leaned down to press a sweet kiss against your lips. “I’m really happy she brought it up first. I’ve been wanting another baby for a while but I didn’t want you to feel obligated.” The confession had your hand lightly swatting at your husband’s chest.
“Why didn’t you talk to me before?! I never would’ve felt obligated. I’ve always wanted a big family, you know that.”
The reassurance had your husband chuckling fondly. “I know, I know. I promise that for the next little Reid, I’ll get to you before our daughter.” He teased, nose nuzzling into your cheek before he was pushing himself out of bed. “Let’s go get you cleaned up, mama.”
—--
It was currently the third week of January, Matilda freshly back in school for the second semester. It was after you dropped Tilly off at school that you were feeling off. You’d been sick the past week or so, mostly just chalking it up to be a bug Matilda seemingly brought home. The more awful you felt, the more you were worrying. Being pregnant wasn’t a problem at all, however the way you would get your hopes up would be.
You’d pushed the idea back for a while, it wasn’t until you were sick for the fifth time that you figured that the test would be better than nothing. You’d only gotten one negative, however with the brain of your husband and his facts about conception, he still gave you some hope.
The sound of the timer going off in the bathroom snapped you out of your thoughts. It was now or never. As you approached the bathroom, you could feel your heart begin to race. If you were pregnant, that would be the best little surprise for your little family. If not, well, you’d at least get to be heartbroken in peace.
Taking in a deep breath and mustering up all of your courage, you were lifting the test from the sink. You felt like you were going to be sick from a mixture of your ailment as well as the nerves. You exhaled the breath you took in seconds before, eyes fixed on the test.
Pregnant.
You nearly fainted, free hand covering your mouth from the surprise. Pregnant, you’re pregnant. Pregnant!!!!
You were thrilled, the test being tucked away in its box before you were hiding it away. You were going to have to show Spencer and Matilda when they got home. You didn’t have the strength to keep it a huge secret and put a surprise together, they needed to know as soon as possible.
Spencer had gotten to go home early in order to pick up Matilda, something rare that Emily gave him the chance to do considering he was away so much as is. If only those two knew what they were coming home to.
You were just getting finished with a snack for your daughter whenever you heard the sound of keys jingling in the door. It’s now or never!
“We are home!” The little voice called from the living room, the child taking off her coat and backpack before making sure to hang them up.
“Hi you two.” You offered a smile, pressing a kiss to your daughter’s cheek, followed by a quick peck on your husband’s lips. “Tilly, I have you a snack.” She hummed fondly, watching the little brunette hurry to the table. “You might wanna sit down as well,” You informed your husband, who raised an eyebrow.
Without question, he’d approached the table before sitting himself down. “Are we in trouble?” He teased, making you roll your eyes fondly.
“No. I just have something I need to tell you both.” You hummed, grabbing the wrapped box from the counter before placing it on the table. “I found this in the closet. It was addressed to you two, I think we forgot it around Christmas.”
“Forgot it? Mama, we never forget presents.” Matilda spoke around a mouthful of apple slices, although her curiosity was piqued as she leaned against the table. “Open it, daddy!” She urged.
As the colorful wrapping paper was peeled away, the male was opening the box. He knew what it was, however he wanted Matilda to have the first big reaction. The minute that the stick was on the table, you could practically see Matilda’s eyes pop out of their sockets from surprise. “Does that say pregnant?!” She asked, looking at her mother with a wide smile. “There’s a baby?!”
Her excitement made you want to cry your eyes out. “There’s a baby!” You gushed happily. “Now, I still have to go to the doctor because I don’t have specifics just yet,” You began, although your daughter was all too happy to quickly run into your body, arms wrapped around your torso.
“We are gonna have a baby!!!!”

Work Surprise
Tumblr media
You ran around to the back seat, unbuckling your sleeping daughter from her car seat. You laughed under your breath as you saw her tiny toddler shoes on the floor of the car as well as one of her socks she must’ve kicked off. You shook her shoulder gently, watching her lips part as she yawned. She had the same shaped lips as Spencer, cute and pink.
“We’re here,” You said, looking out at the BAU floor of Quantico lit up with dim lights. “Time to surprise Daddy.” You whispered lifting Maisie out of her seat and into your arms. She slumped into your chest, squishing her cheek against your shoulder.
You held Maisie in one arm, and your visitor passes and her shoes and sock in the other, carrying them in. A sly smile spread across your face as you saw JJ’s mouth open. The team rarely got to see Spencer’s kid since you guys agreed it would be best to keep Maisie out of this world.
“What?” You saw Spencer lift his head from his papers, then turn around to see you. “Oh my goodness.” Spencer smiled walking towards you and Maisie with open arms. “Oh.” He whispered as he realized Maisie was fast asleep.
You still handed her to Spencer, your arms tired of carrying so much. Spencer bounced his daughter up and down, gently waking her up. She let out a big yawn, warming the team's heart.
“She yawns like me.” Spencer said proudly, making you laugh. He was glad to share any trait with his daughter.
“She also doesn’t like her shoes too tight either, I’m guessing.” Emily said, nodding her head at the shoes and single sock in your hand.
Spencer looked down at your hand, trying to conceal his still proud smile. “Not my fault.” You whispered, placing a kiss on Spencer’s cheek as Maisie stretched her arms out.
She blinked slowly before lighting up. “Daddy!” She threw her tiny arms around his neck, swaying her feet.
“Hi baby.” Spencer whispered happily, yet still looking at you. And you knew he meant it to both of you. “Best surprise.”
“Sup-ri!” Maisie clapped, trying out the new word.
“Yes,” Spencer laughed, tucking her hair behind her ear, “Sup-ri.” Spencer repeated, the room bursting out in laughter and Maisie clapping for herself.

Hello 🥺
Maybe I request the fluffiest fluff to ever fluff of Spencer Reid being a dad? I don’t particularly care about the gender of the child and honestly the plot could be the child being born and Spencers overwhelming emotions or maybe a little mini genius Reid bringing him some giant tome and refusing to let Spencer read to them, insisting they can read out loud instead.
Just in dire need of dad!Spencer. 🫠
Thank you, you’re wonderful and an amazing human!
Tumblr media
ꨄ pairing: spencer reid x fem!reader
ꨄ genre: fluff
ꨄ summary: you and spencer’s son, matthew, sure did get a fair amount of traits from both of you. if anything, the trait that showed the most was your stubbornness, especially when it came to bedtime.
Tumblr media
“matthew!” spencer yells in a tired manner as he chases his son around the kitchen table for the fifth time in a row. well, after matthew had already ran around the kitchen table twice beforehand. “it’s time for bed!”
he’d been trying to get matthew to bed for nearly an hour but he’s gotten to the stage where he can run without toppling over and now it’s all he wants to do. it didn’t help that spencer had just gotten back from a case that morning and he was tired, he didn’t have the most energy to be running after matthew.
you’d offered your assistance multiple times but spencer’s determined to do it himself. not out of pride but because the job pulls him away from home a lot and he wants to be able to spend time doing fatherly things; like chasing after a two year old for hours.
spencer figured that chasing matthew wasn’t getting him anywhere so he tried a different approach. he stopped in the middle of the living room and doubled over, bracing his hands on his knees and letting his head hang low. just like he’d hoped, the sound of feet hitting the floor had stopped. a few seconds later matthew was standing in front of spencer with an expression of concern on his face; an expression that seemed to be passed down from you.
“daddy?” matthew reached out and placed his tiny hand over spencer’s. spencer quickly lunged forward and picked him up before he could have a chance to react.
“gotcha!” matthew’s laughter brought a smile to spencer’s face. spencer moved matthew to his side so he could bend down and pick up the stuffed animal he’d dropped. “let’s get you to bed, yeah?”
matthew didn’t have the energy to fight going to bed anymore, all that running had tired him out even though he probably would never admit it. so, he let spencer carry him to bed. he was able to lay him down and tuck him in comfortably without a fight. spencer planted a kiss on his head before turning his nightlight on and turning the big light off.
spencer got back to his bedroom to find you still sitting up with your kindle in hand. you turned it off and set it down on the nightstand as he walked to the bed and practically tossed himself onto you.
“he’s finally in bed?” you asked as you started running your fingers through his hair. spencer hummed and rolled off of you, he laid on his side and propped himself up to look at you. “he’s a real workout when it comes to bedtime.”
“yeah, he is.”

Spencer Reid x Reader
I know people are obsessed with dad!Spencer but this one is for my Spencer girlies who hate the idea of being pregnant and don't want kids (me, it's for me lmao)
Tumblr media
It started simply enough, an offhand comment from someone at JJ’s baby shower, but it was enough to plant a seed of doubt in your mind.
“He’s going to be such a good dad,” the woman had smiled as she watched Spencer do a magic trick for Henry. You laughed it off, saying something about how much he loves Henry and ignoring the sinking feeling in your stomach. You know you don’t want kids, but you’ve never talked about it with Spencer. You’re not naive, you’ve seen Spencer with kids and it's clear that he would make a great dad. You’d gone on with your life but the thought sat in the back of your mind and every time someone else made the same comment it chipped away at you. Anytime there were kids, Spencer could be found entertaining them. He’s a kid at heart, so opportunities for comment were not rare.
It all came to a head when Michael was born, and you and Spencer went to visit JJ in the hospital.
Spencer was immediately handed the baby as you talked with JJ about how she was doing. Spencer beamed as Michael’s little hand grabbed his finger.
“Look how sweet! You two are gonna have the cutest little babies!” Penelope had squealed as she watched. You forced a smile as she rushed over to hold the baby, a pit of dread forming in your stomach. You visited with them for a while longer, taking your turn to hold and coo at Michael before you both took your leave to head home. You were a ball of anxiety in the car thinking about how to have this conversation with Spencer. The more you thought about it, the faster your leg shook nervously. Spencer’s hand found your knee, the warm weight grounding you for a second as he smiled at you before turning back to the road as the light turned green. Your stomach dropped thinking about that smile being wiped off his face by this conversation he didn’t even know was coming.
The car comes to a stop and you trudge inside, Spencer eyeing you skeptically as you take off your shoes.
“Are you okay?” He asks softly, pulling you to the couch so you can both sit down. You finally break under his gaze, tears welling up in your eyes and threatening to fall.
“Spencer, I’m sorry,” you mumble, watching his face scrunch in confusion.
“This isn’t going to work,” you force out.
“What isn’t?” He asks, his head cocking adorably.
“Us, Spencer,” you say quietly, your heart breaking as you watch his face drop.
“What? What are you talking about?” He asks, sounding panicky.
“I… I can’t give you the life you want, Spencer. I don’t want kids, I’m sorry. I should’ve told you this sooner. But everyone keeps saying you’re gonna be such a good dad, Spence. They're right and I can’t take that away from you,” you ramble, stopping when you notice him holding in laughter.
“Why are you smiling! I’m trying to break up with you for your own good and you’re laughing, what’s wrong with you?!” You ask, slightly hysterical laughter bubbling out of you.
“I love you so much,” he beams, only furthering your confusion.
“I love kids, I do. And I love being Uncle Spencer. But do you know what the best part about it is?” He asks, and you shake your head, “You get to give them back! You get all the fun parts and none of the sleepless nights or tantrums or rules. You get to be the fun one when they’re tired of their parents.”
“Yeah, but-“ you start before he stops you.
“I love my job, but you know I see the darkest parts of humanity every day. I don’t have any desire to bring kids into a world like this. I can’t imagine how worried I’d be all the time about something happening to them, it’s scary enough just worrying about you. And more than any of that, I love you. I don’t want to have or not have kids with anyone else,” he finishes, pulling you into a hug and you melt as the tension leaves your body.
“Sorry,” you sniffle, “I guess all the comments just sort of got to me.”
“You don’t have to apologize, we haven’t talked about it, how could you know? I didn’t know people had been saying stuff to you, you should’ve told me,” he tells you.
“Next time maybe talk to me before you try and break up with me, huh?” He jokes, trying to lighten your mood.
“You’re right, I went a little off the deep end. I got scared and I freaked out,” you laugh into his sweater. He snorts out a laugh at that, shifting you both so you can lie down together. You tuck yourself under his chin and yank the blanket off the back of the couch, prepared to tuck in for a little nap after the emotional rollercoaster you’d just been on.
“I love you, too,” You murmur as you drift off, his hands rubbing your back soothingly.

Okay can I request dad Spencer reacting to hearing his baby say dad for the first time😭🥺
Wait this is gonna make me cry a lil
"Who's that, Bug?" You half-whisper in your baby's ear, pointing past her at your husband, who had just come through the door. "It's Daddy! Look, Daddy's home!" The little girl standing between your legs as you sit on the floor bounces excitedly, letting out a high squeal as she reaches for Spencer as he sets his bag down and approaches with a grin.
"Hi!" Maddie squeals again at the sound of her dad's voice, teetering towards him as he sits down beside you, lifting her into his lap so her tiny hands could grab at his face.
"Dada!" Spencer's eyebrows shoot up in shock, a joyful grin breaking across his face moments later. "Dada! Dada!" She repeats, tapping her little palms on his cheeks.
"Yeah, baby." He manages to choke out as tears of joy suddenly flood his eyes. "That's me!"

The sound of giggling filled the Reid household as you chased the mini-Reid through the kitchen and into the living area. When you finally caught Diana you slipped your hands under her arms and swung her up onto your hip with a cheer. When you both finally caught your breaths you made eye contact with your husband who had a scolding look on his face, but there was still a smile twitching at lips at the scene he had just witnessed. “You know she has to be in bed in- 15 minutes!” Spencer paused and looked down at his watch to emphasize his point about how close it was to Diana's bed time. You just sighed dramatically and addressed your daughter “Well, I think your dads right- we gotta get you to bed- it's a school night!”.
After much kid wrangling and only one bedtime story bribe, Diana was sound asleep and safe- leaving you and your husband for some alone time together. After so many years of being together, you and Spencer dont find there's a need to fill the silence you're often draped in.
But that night the silence got Spencer thinking. Thinking about you, thinking about Diana, thinking about the life he's built for himself. If he was being honest with himself he never thought he would be here. A spouse and a child, a house. It was more than 23 years old Dr. Spencer Reid, new BAU agent could have possibly imagined. A spouse, let alone a child.
Those thoughts were even more discouraged when he was kidnapped by Tobias Hankle. Spencer considered that one of his lowest points, he had been tortured and drugged- how could it not be. That's not even to mention the addiction that followed. He was in pieces, mentally and physically. Even after he got clean, Spencer often told himself that he wasn't worthy of children. That he would be worse than his own dad. And without you there to reassure him as you often did after you met, these beliefs solidified in his mind.
“Y/n?” You looked over at Spencer from where you were lying across from him on the couch. Your questioning look was enough of an answer for Spencer so he continued, “did you always want kids? I used to think I didn't deserve kids”. You gave Spencer a look of pity, you hated when he had thoughts at his own expense. And he knew that. But Spencer couldn't help himself.
“First of all, Diana loves you and you're the best father for her- full stop. Second of all, I always wanted kids, I think you did too”. Spencer nodded, he had always wanted kids- it was his mind that told him not to.
“I didn't really start believing that kids were a possibility when I met you”. Spencer smiled warmly when he spoke, his eidetic memory not failing to remember any details from when you first met.
——
Spencer was sat his car that he rarely drove, going to the supermarket, which he rarely did. But it wasn't often that he spiraled into a depressive episode after seeing his girlfriend murdered in front of him, so he thought a change of pace might do him some good. Or more like penelope garcia thought it would do him some goo
That’s how he ended up strolling through the public park on a Tuesday afternoon in april. It was sunny and warm, a stark contrast to the sunken purple bags under Spencer's eyes and the wrinkly shirt that probably should’ve been washed before leaving the house.
But you- in spencers eyes you were a beauty unto yourself, regardless of what you were wearing. That was one thing that hadn’t changed since he met you, and he swore never would.
To be honest, it was by luck that Spencer had run into you; you were with your nephew as babysitter for the day when he started bothering spencer. Needless to say you were very apologetic.
“Tom, no! leave that man alone! i'm so sorry sir, he doesn't mean it”
You were extremely apologetic, ushering your nephew away from the stranger. Spencer was flustered but understanding, red evident on his cheeks.
Skip to a few hours later and Spencer had spent the entire time with you. It was the best Spencer had felt in weeks, like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
That night he couldn't stop thinking about everything that had happened; walking around with you, talking with you, meeting your nephew and sister. Spending time with your nephew, it got him thinking. Spencer had tucked away the idea of having kids far into a little nook into his mind, and spending time with Tom dredged it up from the depths of his brain.
Despite still reeling with the death of his girlfriend, Spencer still couldn't get the thought of having kids and being a dad out of his head. It nagged at him all the time, and the thoughts got loud when he was with you. Picturing you as a parent during your coffee dates.
Although Spencer Reid has an IQ of 187, and an eidetic memory, it still took him weeks to realize why he couldn’t get the thought of children out of his head; because he wanted to be a dad. He wanted to care for someone, knowing that they rely on him.
——
“Spencer? Spence?”
Spencer is pulled from his thoughts of when the couple first met by your soft voice. You had a small look of concern on your face at your husband's lack of awareness of the current reality. Spencer hummed in response to ease your worries. “What's got you with that Spencer Reid Far Off Look ™ in your eyes huh?” you asked. Spencer chuckles, and responds, “Just thinking about when we first met… after Maeve died- it's what got me thinking about having kids you know-”. it's your turn to chuckle now, remembering the embarrassment of having to usher away your nephew. Though your eyes held a sympathetic look at the mention of maeve, it would always be a bit of a sensitive subject.
“Ya, we have tom to thank for that. But I didn't know that's when you started thinking of kids- I thought it was later, when you first talked to me about it”.
——
It was 1:03 am, and Spencer was still awake, to be fair he had just gotten back from a bad case. It was always bad when it involved kids, Spencer couldn't get the face of the little girl they couldn't save in time out of his head. Thoughts raced through his head, but he would never tell you about them- after all you had only been together for a couple months. Spencer couldn't risk being that vulnerable with you.
So here he was, tossing and turning at one am over a case he couldn't get out of his head- trying not to wake up the sleeping figure beside him. He couldn't stop thinking about if that little girl had been his little girl. What would he do then? Spencer didn’t know if he could handle having another human rely on him so heavily- what if he let them down. What if he became like his own father, something he swore he would never do.
In all of Spencer's spiraling thoughts he hadn’t noticed that you had woken up from the constant shifting of the bed, which was caused by his  incessant tossing and turning in bed. You noticed the look in Spencer's eyes was one you knew well, it was a look that said the gears were turning a little too fast in that big beautiful brain of his.
But before you could say anything, Spencer got to it first. “Would I- would I be a good dad?” You were caught off guard by Spencer's question, not expecting him to bring that up. But you could tell Spencer had been thinking about it for a while, if the worry crease between his eyebrows was anything to go by.
“I think you’d be a great dad spence- your kind, your caring, you have an amazing compacité to be there for other people, i think especially if it was your kid..”
You speak in a quiet, comforting tone in order to release at least some of the anxiety your boyfriend is harboring. In an effort to punctuate your point you give Spencer a small squeeze on the arm, hoping it would provide at least a little bit of comfort.
Spencer offered a nod in response not quite knowing what to say to his partner's kindness. Instead of speaking Spencer just rolled from the other side of the bed into your warm embrace, which contrasted the cool breeze from the open window.
——
Spencer comes back from his thoughts by the sound of small feet pitter pattering on the hardwood floors. you don't comment on your husband's spacey-ness that evening, instead opting to sit up and find the source of the sound.
Which you find out to be the small feet of Diana Reid, who had woken up from a bad dream and sought out the comfort of her parents. Her small frame struggled to climb onto the large bed, so Spencer lifted her up by her armpits and placed her between him and you.
“Cant sleep?”
You ask though the dark, soothingly running your fingers through her curly hair.
“ya.. i had a bad dream and couldn’t fall back asleep”
Her voice is small, the six year old still a bit embarrassed at needing to sleep in her parents bedroom, but Spencer's calming hand running up and down her back helped ease some of the embarrassment and helped her sink into her loving parents arms.
“That’s okay, you can always sleep in here with us if you want”
Spencer says as he kisses Diana's head, and the little girl is already falling asleep in the couple's arms. Both Spencer and you look down at your daughter, now fast asleep in between you, and it puts a smile on your faces. And you can't help but lean over and place a haste kiss on spencers lips and say;
“You know I told you you’d be a good dad”
you had a bit of a sly smirk on your face as Spencer chuckled, and he responded “I guess you were right huh”. And that's how the Reid family fell asleep, contented in each other's arms.
The End

Spencer was always loving and caring, always doting on you. But since you’d gotten pregnant, he’s done nothing but take excellent care of you, doing everything in his power to make sure you’re not overexerting yourself, and making sure you’re comfortable and healthy.
Spencer started off having pre-parental panic for the first three months of your pregnancy. He read countless amounts of books on parenting and pregnancy, he knew everything from what you should eat to what what you should watch on tv in order to have the happiest, healthiest pregnancy.
Picking the name was a hassle, you would constantly blank, not thinking of a single name you liked, and Spencer would suggest names like Mildred, Earl, or something from a different language that, while it would have a beautiful meaning, you struggled to pronounce.
When you found out you were having a boy, you both eventually decided to name the baby after people you cared about, and when he was born, he was given the name Jason David Reid. It was beyond important to Spencer that you’d named him after Gideon.
Your birth wasn’t nearly as hard as your pregnancy, and all of it was worth it when your baby was cleaned up and in your arms.
It felt even more worth it when they placed him in Spencer’s, seeing a father hold his son for the first time. You’d seen Spencer cry, a few times. But you’d never seen him cry like this, tears of love and enchantment, tears for you, tears for your baby, and tears for your family.
Spencer was the only one in the room during your birth, at your request. It wasn’t until afterward that they let people in, and of course, the team who’d been waiting at the hospital for six hours crowded into the room, washing their hands at Spencer’s request.
You both cried again, watching your baby be passed around between these people that you loved like family. Penelope had been crying since a nurse informed her that your baby boy had been born healthy and happy. Jj cried the first time she saw him, Emily cried the second he was in her arms. Rossi sobbed when he heard his name for the first time.
Your first night home from the hospital was hard. The baby slept so good, he hardly cried, he was such a happy baby. But you and Spencer were so nervous. He’d read every book and website he could get his hands on, spoken to so many seasoned parents and paediatricians. But still you both were nervous.
That quickly faded, and you got used to having a new baby. You’d gotten used to waking up to change or feed him, gotten used to the weight of a baby in your arms.
He wasn’t a big baby, still very healthy and happy, just a little guy. And he already looked like Spencer, button nose and a full head of hair, just a shade darker than his father’s.
The baby went through a series of nicknames. Because Jason’s a lovely name, just not a baby name, and David felt worse. You went from calling him Jay, to JJ, which was confusing, to JD, which is what stuck. Baby JD, JD Reid.
JD was happy and content almost all the time, but what calmed him down fastest was the sound of Spencer’s voice. So Spencer would spend hours talking to JD, explaining the history of Hallows Eve, or telling him about different types of plants.
When JD was around 10 months, he said his first word which was bird. He loved birds, his mobile had handmade birds sewn by Penelope, his wallpaper had little blue birds just below the trim, He saw them a lot outside in the yard. Spencer cried the first time he said it, from how cute it was, from the fact that Gideon loved birds before he passed.
As JD grew, he proved himself to be very intelligent, which Spencer took great pride in. He was speaking full sentences before he turned two, he could identify many different types of dinosaurs, which became his new obsession after birds.
Spencer would read to him often, the first book being ‘Goodnight Moon’, the second being ‘The Narrative of John Smith.” JD was able to remember nearly all of the words to the books that Spencer would read to him, but he struggled to read and he was diagnosed with Dyslexia when he was almost 5.
Being a dad and husband is the most important thing to Spencer. He happily spends less time working and more time with JD and you.
Neither you nor Spencer had cried so much until you became parents, he’d cry over how cute you looked holding JD in your arms as he slept, he’d cry over how sweet JD’s voice was as he told him he loved him, He’d cry watching JD and Hank play pirates together. And he broke down in tears of love when JD ran to hug him when he got home, wearing a shirt that read “big brother”

Why didn't you try?
Summary: Matilda doesn't understand why her dad never seemed to put his family first.
genre: angst
pairing: Spencer Reid & teen!daughter
___
“You never had a problem with staying here after school Tills, it’ll only be for a couple of hours.”, Spencer said as he and his daughter entered the bullpen. Matilda trudged behind him, backpack shouldered and an attitude clearly visible on her face of resentment.
“Sure, always loved spending all of my free time at an office building, the dream," she said sarcastically and headed straight to the roundtable room, bringing distance between her father and her and ignoring the team that were much more than just her father’s coworkers to her.
“What’s up with her?”, Morgan was the first to ask, following his niece with his eyes. Spencer just shrugged, not feeling like getting into his daughter’s teenage attitude hat had only gotten worse towards him since her mom and he had split. They had decided that Matilda would stay with each of them for a week whenever Spencer wasn’t on a case and this was the first week that they had gone through with the arrangement.
Matilda had made it known that she didn’t want to spend time with him, it had broken his heart in a way he had never experienced, but her mother was not having it. As much as the separation had hurt, Spencer was a good dad and she wouldn’t let her daughter shut him out like that. Day two and Spencer was beginning to question if that really was the way to go. Tilly had barely spoken a word to him and had clearly shown her disdain for him and as much as he loved having her with him, he knew that this hurt more than having her be with her mother.
They had been at the BAU for an hour when all of the team had noticed the obvious tension between their resident genius and his daughter and most of them had been victims to their first BAU kid’s temper and mood. Matilda Reid knew she was being insufferable, but she couldn’t but blame every person in this building for her parent’s separation. Especially her father. His job had finally messed it all up beyond repair. She now started to question if her mom had actually just stayed with him because she had been a kid and used to adore her dad. She scoffed at that. Why did she ever adore the man that was barely present? She was almost sure that he had spent more time with the members of the BAU than with her and her mom and it made her even angrier at them all.
“Ohhh my favourite person in the whole world is here!”, Garcia’s cheery voice snapped her attention away from her thoughts and onto the colourful woman that was her godmother. Even she couldn’t change her mood though and none of the team members had been able to warn the woman either so Matilda’s attitude came as an even bigger shock. The teen scoffed at the woman and rolled her eyes.
“Please why do you all feel like you can just march in here and annoy the fuck out of me!”, she snapped loudly and Garcia froze at the door, eyes wide. That was it for Spencer. the whole bullpen had heard his daughter snap and swear and he wasn’t having it. Before Garcia could snap out of her shock Spencer had strode up the stairs and come up behind the woman, glaring down at his daughter.
“That’s it, Matilda! Do you hear yourself? Take your teenage attitude out on me but swearing at your godmother? Absolutely not! Phone!”, he boomed and held out his hand expectantly. “What?”, she questioned in shock. “You heard me, hand over your phone, you’re not talking to anyone like that, especially not the people that love you.” She scoffed. “Fuck off I’m not giving you my phone.”
Garcia’s eyes only grew bigger at the language the teen used and the tension in the room. She really didn’t want to be in the room with both of them and witness this first hand but here she was. “What did you just say to me?”, Spencer's voice had gotten dangerously quiet and his daughter got up from her chair and stood up to face him. “I said: FUCK… OFF!”, she snarled and stared into his angry eyes with the equally angry ones of her mom.
Before Spencer could say anything else she grabbed her phone and turned around to leave, though he was faster, snapping out his hand to grab her wrist tightly. “You are not leaving right now!”, he boomed and she flinched as she turned back around, looking up at him with wide eyes and at her wrist in his strong hands. He had never been so loud with her, but then again she had never been so loud with him either.
“Spencer!”, Garcia squeaked and suddenly Morgan appeared behind Matilda in the door she was trying to exit through. “Reid you better let go of her NOW!”, he ordered and it was only then that he noticed how tightly he was gripping his daughter’s wrist. As if it was on fire he let it go and watched his daughter tumble back into Derek’s chest, still staring up at her dad. Before he could say anything more though she backed off of Derek too and turned to rush out of the room and down the stairs, the team and Spencer following her with their eyes.
It was Emily who jumped up and followed her out, while the rest of them was still frozen in place. “Oh god!”, Spencer snapped out first, clutching his hands in front of his face. “Oh god, I grabbed her… I hurt her! Oh god," he uttered, a wild stare looking after his daughter and tears prickling in his eyes. He ran his hand through his hair messily and then moved to follow her, though Morgan didn’t let him past. “Reid stop.” “I need to apologise! I need to make sure she’s okay! Morgan let me through!” “Emily’s got her! You won’t be much help right now!”, he told him sternly. “I didn’t mean to.. I didn’t mean to grab her that tight! I didn’t… Fuck!”, he exclaimed as he kicked one of the chairs.
---
“Tilly?”, Emily asked softly as she entered the women’s bathroom of the floor. The room was empty but one cubicle was occupied. The woman could hear soft sniffles coming from it and knew who they stemmed from. “Leave me alone!”, the girl snapped trying to sound self-assured but failing miserably. “I’ll give you a minute but I’m not leaving,” Emily announced and leaned against the wall opposite the cubicle. Nothing was heard apart from the soft sniffles. “Are you hurt?”, Emily asked after a while and Matilda looked down at the wrist her dad had grabbed. It was a little red but didn’t really hurt. “No”, she said. “I’m calling my mom.”, she added and Emily sighed.
“Don’t you think you and your dad should talk about what’s going on?” “No I don’t, he can go fuck himself.”, the teen snapped and Emily closed her eyes in defeat. “Tilly. What’s really going on here? I don’t even recognise you.” The teen scoffed. “Well, how would you.” “What do you mean?” “As if you guys cared about anything else but your stupid jobs", she said and this time Emily could hear the hurt sifting through the teen’s words. “That’s not true Tills. We all care about you, especially your dad.”
Matilda shook her head and finally opened up the door, looking up at Emily’s worried eyes. “If he cared he wouldn’t have let it come to this,” she said numbly and shook her head before stepping to the sink and washing her face, in an attempt to hide that she had been crying. Emily just stood by her side and watched her. “Matilda. If anyone knows what neglectful parents look like it's me. And I promise you. Your dad is not one. He loves you more than he loves life itself, you know that.”
Matilda didn’t want to hear that. Deep down she knew Emily was right, but she was still hurt. She was hurt and what made it worse was knowing how much her mom was hurt. “He hurt my mom. Badly,” she said and Emily was beginning to understand what this was. “And now you made it your mission to hurt him too?” Matilda stopped and glared at Emily. it sounded dumb when she said it like that and it hadn’t really been her mission, so she thought at least.
“Come on Matilda, you’re smarter than that.”, Emily said as the teen dried her hands. “He hurt me.” “We both know he never meant to. And may I remind you that you said some pretty hurtful things too?”. “And that gives him the right to hurt me physically? Wow great lesson you're teaching me here Emily.” Matilda snapped back and Emily bit down on her lip. “No I didn’t mean it like that. You’re right, no one has the right to touch you like that honey.”, Emily quickly admitted hearing how that had sounded. “
I just meant.. You snapped at Garcia Tilly.” Matilda’s heart sunk to the pit of her stomach thinking back and she looked down at the floor in shame. “Listen. I know life sucks for you right now and you blame your dad. I don’t know what exactly caused your parents to separate but he loves you, Matilda, I think you should talk about this. Tell him how you feel.” “He’s mad at me.” “Come on now, Spencer is probably being eaten alive by guilt right now, you can bet on Derek giving him a piece of his mind too.” “I don’t want to go back out there.” “Just go straight into my office okay? I’ll get your dad and tell him to be calm if he isn’t okay?”
Matilda nodded and Emily wrapped her arms around her, embracing her for a minute. “I know this is all a lot right now but you’ll be fine.”, she whispered into the girl's ears. “Thank you aunt Emmy”, the girl responded and held on tightly to her. “Let’s get you out of here, hm?”, she said encouragingly and wrapped an arm around the girl's side as they left the bathroom and entered the bullpen again.
All of the other’s gazes followed the two of them and Spencer immediately wanted to rush after them, though Morgan held him back again. “Wait for Emily to talk to us.”, he said to him and he watched his friend lead his daughter into her office before coming over to him. “How is she? I need to apologise, what’s going on?”, he bombarded the woman with questions. “She wants to talk to you, but Spencer you better be calm with her, even if she snaps, she’s angry and hurt, okay? Mentally I mean, her wrist is fine, but if I ever catch you being rough with her again, believe me when I tell you that I will snap you in half Reid.”, she told him and he nodded eagerly. “I’d never hurt her! You know that!”  Emily nodded. “Okay, then go make things right with your daughter. She wanted to call Julia but I convinced her to talk to you first.” The mention of his wife made his heart squeeze with hurt. He still loved her, so much, but it wasn’t working out anymore and he knew she deserved better.

Thinking about Spencer’s daughter who always comes to him to help her get through the hard levels on her games. (Because what else would his wonderful brain be used for?)
“Daddy!” Spencer knows that tone. All sticky sweet and pleading, he knows it well. Georgia might only be six but she’s clever and he knows how to get her dad to do whatever she wants- she doesn’t have to try hard to convince him of anything.
“Yes, Georgia.” He’s wiping his hands in a kitchen towel to free it from any straggling dough.
“I need your help please.” She’s sitting in her little wooden chair, legs crossed and controller in her hand.
She and Spencer are home alone on this Friday night- you’re out with the Bau girls having drinks and he’d decided that a late night with Georgia was in the books.
“What’s wrong, baby?” Spencer sits on the floor beside her, eyes roving the tv as she holds the controller out to him.
“I can’t jump onto this mountain.” Long words like mountain get tangled up as she says it but Spencer finds it endearing.
“Alright, let me see what I can do.” Spencer hasn’t been exceptional at video games, never really finding them that interesting but for Georgia he’s become a connoisseur of sorts.
Spencer takes only a couple minutes to get her character onto the mountain and she shoots out of the chair and into his lap.
He looses his breath in the shock of it but his arms hold her close to his chest. “You’re the best dad! Thank you.”
Spencer gets kiss on the cheek and a tight squeeze around his neck before Georgia’s back in her chair.
“You’re welcome, Georgia. Do you want any snacks?”
She shakes her head, “I still have my goldfish.” Spencer nods, heading back to the kitchen to check on the cobbler he put in the oven.
You’d been craving one for the last couple of weeks and finally having time off from catching killers Spencer thinks it’s the perfect time to get one baked up for you.
“Dad, if I get stuck on another level you’ll help again?”
Spencer chuckles, “You know I will,” then he pauses. “Are you stuck?”
He hears her groan. “Yeah I can’t get it fast enough.”
“I’m coming, angel.”

unknown targets — spencer reid
Tumblr media
request: Where it’s a Spencer x fem! Reader, and they are married (the team loves them together). What if they had 2 kids (you can choose gender), JJ is the only one that knows about their kids because they didn’t want their kids to become targets to unsubs. One day while they are hunting down Scratch ( a little before Hotch leaves), and a letter gets sent to the team. It’s a picture of Spencer and the readers kids. Everyone is confused on who they are, which causes Spencer and the reader to tell them. It’s up to the team to find them  summary: the team gets a letter from scratch that includes an image of you and spencer’s kids. the problem? they were supposed to be a secret to everyone but you. pairing: spencer reid x fem!reader category: angst with happy ending content warnings: language, kidnapped children, overconsumption of coffee word count: 1.8k
summer of fics masterlist masterlist want to join my taglist?
Tumblr media
It was the worst scenario Spencer could have ever imagined.
The moment you’d told him you were having a kid, he’d been petrified of this exact moment. Having little Florence in his life though made all the worry worth it. Then Nicky came along and Spencer was sure he couldn’t be happier. Your kids became his life, the very thing that made him so excited to go home at the end of the day.
You couldn’t believe your luck either. It was the perfect family, the happiest ending you could have ever pictured for yourself.
Then came the picture in the mail. All it took was one picture, one particular image to ruin everything.
Because when the kids were born, you and Spencer came to a tough decision. It would be better for the team to not know about it. The only person who knew was JJ because she’d helped you take the time off you needed while taking care of the babies. It had been to protect them, considering their parents were both elite agents in the FBI.
Except now, one of the worst unsubs they’d ever tried to take down not only knew about your kids but had them somewhere.
So that was how you and Spencer stood in front of the team now, each of them passing around a photo of your kids holding hands with Mr. Scratch.
“You have kids,” Emily was the first to speak up, handing the picture back to Spencer despite his quivering hands.
“They were taken by Scratch. They were both in elementary school and the school said they got into a car that looked like ours,” Spencer explained nervously. He hadn’t been able to sit still since you’d gotten the call from your babysitter that the kids weren’t at the school, since speeding home and finding that picture taped to the door.
That fucking picture, of Scratch holding onto two little hands, of your kids looking perfectly healthy but confused, a ghost of a smile on each of their faces beyond it. You could only imagine what he’d told them to elicit such a Spencer look from them—Smile for Mommy and Daddy, kids. We want to let them know Uncle Scratch got you okay.
The thought curdled in your stomach, made you grip the skin there with such force you were sure your nails would leave little crescent indentations behind. Your husband watched you, hand hovering just over yours as he fought to consider what level of comfort you needed now and what you would actually want.
Because ever since the beginning, the two of you had rules for each other. Limit the outward shows of affection at work, partly to maintain a reputation and so no unsub would notice the obvious chink in both of your respective armors.
It was meant to protect you, but all you could think now was that it may have damned you.
Because here was your team, immediately launching into action when your explanation halted. Your team, having never met these kids before, were ready to lay their lives down for them you were sure. Derek grabbed a set of keys and announced that he and JJ would go to the school, to trace the exact path that led to your kids’ disappearance. Emily would continue trying to track Scratch from where they’d lost him before, every so often watching the two of you for signs of needing help. Penny would be scouring databases and networks, knowing Scratch couldn’t be working alone, not if he managed to get ahold of both of your kids so easily. Rossi and Tara would go to talk to witnesses, your babysitter, anyone who could give them a scrap of information you didn’t already know.
You and Spencer would both try to work too. You’d pour over the evidence, trying to keep your eyes off of that picture now pinned to a board with their names written in Spencer’s writing under it. You’d see the moment Hotch pulled your husband away, and you’d see the moment your husband returned with red-rimmed eyes and a determined look on his entire body.
Hotch would pull you aside too, guiding you to his office and shutting the door. “You need to take breaks, too,” he would remind you, sliding you a cup of coffee you already knew wouldn’t have nearly enough cream for your taste but appreciating the offering regardless.
“I’ll take a break when they’re found,” you answered, and Hotch didn’t seem surprised in the least by your reply. You fought to remind yourself that out of everyone here, he was the one who understood your struggle far too closely. His wife and child had been taken by an unsub too, though his had a far more gruesome ending than you were hoping for.
“Your kids need you at your best right now,” he told you, watching as you cradled the cup of coffee that would count as your fourth of the day. “You can’t be at your best if you burn yourself out.”
“Look, Hotch, every second I spend resting is another second they’re with him. I can’t—I can’t even breathe thinking about what’s happening to them.”
“That’s what he wants, you know.” And you did, fuck did you understand that. Hell, you were on the team of people who were supposed to understand unsub’s motives, of course, you would understand that Scratch’s motive was to send you and Spencer into a panic. If you were terrified for your kids, then you weren’t in the right headspace to catch him. He could get away with everything if he had that sort of leverage over you.
“Fuck,” you hissed, gulping down the rest of the coffee and setting it down on Hotch’s desk. You’d apologize for the language later, for the ring that was sure to form on his desk under the mug. “Fuck, you’re right. You’re always right.”
As you bolted out of his office to collect your husband, you were sure you saw pride in Hotch’s eyes—it wasn’t hard to imagine that pride was there simply for you.
Tumblr media
Your relief didn’t come until a full twenty-four hours later. It was Tara who’d been able to put the pieces together, who was able to find the house your kids were being kept at. Even before you’d gotten there, you knew that of all the things you’d find there, Scratch would not be among them.
That had been the deal he’d sent you in the encrypted message. Let him get away, stall to give him time, and your kids would be returned to you. After your team had caught onto Scratch’s plan, after they were closing in on him, this message was the only thing that gave you proof your kids were still alright, that they still could come back from this.
That didn’t stop you from rushing into the house the second you could, the only person able to match your speed being Spencer himself. Your kids were in front of a TV, watching an old episode of Wiley E Coyote narrowly missing the Roadrunner.
The symbolism was not lost on you.
“Mommy! Daddy!” Florence was the first to notice you, not phased at all by all the vests and guns and people around her. She only saw you two, first sprinting to Spencer. You let out a quiet little cry as he wrapped his arms around her and scooped her up, hand on the back of her head and gently guiding her face into the crook of his neck so she wouldn’t see any more of the FBI’s greatest weaponry. She was still young, still innocent, still safe.
It was her happy cheer that alerted Nicky to the change. His head whipped around, surprise coating his features before pure joy spread there instead. “Momma!” He only knew a few words, but your name was one of them.
He toddled over to you, giggling brightly as you scooped him up and cradled him in the same fashion Spencer held his sister. You watched your husband then, smiling as he mouthed, ‘they’re okay’ as a reminder to both you and him.
You nodded. They were okay. Your team had done it.
They would always do it, time and again. You knew this as Derek and Emily stepped over to Spencer, saying something to Florrie that had her laughing as loudly and sweetly as she always used to before this. You knew it in the way Hotch stood in the front door of the house, scanning the scene and always watching over you all. You knew it in the way Tara came to you, with a gentle voice and kind eyes as she asked Nicky what he wanted for dinner, because she and JJ would go get whatever those kids wanted and needed right now.
You knew it in the way your team, your family, came back to your house that night and slept in the living room, keeping watch over your kids as you all recovered.
At first, you’d been terrified of them knowing about your kids, terrified that by letting them in somehow you’d be damning your kids to the same fate you were sure you and Spencer were destined for. And yet, they’d been taken anyway. It was only letting the team know about them that ultimately saved them from that same fate.
So you and Spencer would talk about it, but the answer was already decided. You’d let them in, you’d trust your work family with your kids, and you would be all the better for it in the end.

Little Spook

Blurb
Spencer Reid x Pregnant!Reader
Summary: Reader finally starts to show just in time for Halloween and Spencer’s birthday.
You stood in front of the full-length mirror in you and Spencer’s bedroom, cradling your arms around you exposed stomach. Two months in, you were finally showing. And at the best possible time too: one hour until Spencer’s birthday.
Something stronger than love stirred in your stomach as you admired the way your baby was beginning to settle into its temporary home. But between that moment and your hormones, you didn’t even hear Spencer sit up in bed and call for you.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” You turned to see Spencer’s fluffy hair in an entangled mess.
You accidentally laughed at how perfect he looked even then, “Nothing. Nothing at all. Somebody actually brought you an early birthday present and Halloween spook.” You said, smiling at Spencer as he gained cognitive consciousness.
“It’s eleven pm, did somebody stop by or-” Spencer asked sleepily, stretching to turn on his bedside lamp and join you beside the mirror.
“No.” You shook your head, biting your lip to contain your smile. “They’re right here.” You grabbed Spencer’s warm hands and pressed them against your stomach.
Spencer knew your body like the back of his hand, so he noticed as soon as his hands touched your belly. “Oh my...” He trailed off, kneeling to his knees so he could place a kiss on your stomach. You felt him uncontainably smile into the kiss. “Well hello.” Spencer whispered into you.
You toyed with his hair as he spoke to your stomach. “Somebody wanted to tell their daddy happy birthday.” You smiled, twisting a curl around your finger. You stood comfortably as a short silence followed before hearing small sniffles come from Spencer.
Affectionately, you reached for your husband’s chin, tilting his head up. Spencer stood up to throw his arms around you in a tight hug. “Thank you so so much.” He cried into the comfort of your neck, rubbing your back as he did. “Thank you for carrying the best birthday present I could ask for. Your body is so amazing.” He pulled away, wiping away his tears. Yet, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from your stomach.
You tried to make some joke to ignore the tears building in your eyes. “Maybe she’ll grow if you talk to her more.” You laughed then climbed into bed, letting Spencer pull the covers away and tuck you into bed beside him.
“How about I work on that and you work on resting for two.” Spencer suggested. You nodded into a yawn and peacefully snuggled into Spencer’s chest, letting him rest his hand on your tummy and swiping his thumb over it, telling his baby about all of the Halloween outfits he has planned for it.
Spencer rattled off ideas started at age twelve all the way down to the baby’s first Halloween, which you forced yourself to secretly stay awake for so you could fall asleep with the complete story. “And finally, first year is a cow, for sure. That way Mommy and I can be farmers and you can be our baby cow- which is called a calf, by the way. So technically, we’d be farmers and you’d be a calf.” Spencer seemingly ended his story before exhaling a long withheld breath and whispering his goodnights. “Goodnight, baby,” He whispered to you, placing a small warm kiss on your cheek. “And you too, little spook. I’m gonna get you back for this early surprise.” Spencer whispered and quietly laughed into his pillow, careful not to wake you and his baby.

hii i have a fluff request for spencer! dad!spencer specifically, imagine he has toddler and reader just gave birth to a new baby and his toddler is jealous of all the attention on the new baby so spencer comes to the rescue and tries to cheer her up
is this too vague?.. if it is then i’m sorry :(
Tumblr media
ꨄ pairing: spencer reid x fem!reader
ꨄ genre: fluff
ꨄ summary: having a new baby around means that majority of the attention goes to it. your daughter thinks that with all the attention your giving the baby you’ve forgotten about her, luckily spencer is there to explain to her that you both will never forget her.
Tumblr media
you thought that after the birth of your first daughter having a second baby would be easier but it wasn't. luckily your daughter was at the age where she didn't need you to do everything for her so you weren't tiring yourself out even more by chasing after her.
you were in bed lying on your side and watching spencer feed the baby, your toddler sitting on the floor at the foot of the bed playing with her dolls. she looked over to you and spencer and pouted, she stood up and waddled over to spencer.
"dolls?" she asked as she tugged on his pants leg. he looked down at her and put his hand on her head, ruffling her hair and making her laugh.
"not right now, sweetie. after i feed the baby."
it had been some time since he was able to sit down with her and play like they used to because of caring for you and the baby but your daughter didn't understand that babies take a lot of time and care. if anything, she just thought you two were forgetting about her because of the baby.
her frown deepened as she looked over at the baby in spencer's arms, she turned away and picked up her dolls. "stupid baby." she said as she stormed out of the room, it was meant to come out as a whisper but she hadn't quite got the whispering down yet.
spencer turned his head to you to see if you'd heard the same thing, to which you nodded and sat up so you could reach for the baby. "i got it spence, just go talk to her please."
he handed the baby off to you and headed for your daughter's room, he gently knocked on the door before pushing it open. she was sitting on her bed with her head down while kicking her feet, her dolls thrown on the floor along with all her other toys.
spencer crouched down in front of her so that he was eye-level with her, he placed his hands on her face and gently lifted her head. "do you wanna tell me what's wrong, angel?"
“you forgot about me, you love the stupid baby more." she sniffled, bringing her hand up and roughly wiping away the stray tears. spencer shook his head and stood up, he sat down beside her and pulled her into his lap.
"we didn't forget about you angel, we love you both equally. it's just that babies take a lot of attention." he ran his hand through her hair soothingly, he leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. "and no more calling the baby mean names, okay?"
she nodded her head and hopped off of spencers lap, she grabbed her doll and started tugging on his arm. he stood up and picked her up, walking into the bedroom just to see you and the baby asleep.
"come on, lets go play dolls." he smiled at her and shut the bedroom door, thinking to himself: i'm pretty good at this.

heyy ik im late for multiverse monday but can i get a dad!spence taking care of his sick daughter even tho she decline that she's sick? thanks
"Come on," Spencer pleaded, "You have to take it!"
"I'm not sick!" You huffed, crossing your arms over your chest stubbornly, "You tell me all the time, if you take over the counter meds when you don't need them, it could cause what you're trying to prevent."
"This is an airborne," Spencer raised an eyebrow at you, "It's harmless. And you are sick, you've been coughing up a lung for thirty minutes now."
"Dad," You let your lower lip quiver slightly, "I don't want to take it, it's gross. I'll be better soon, I'll rest a lot!"
"You will be better soon," He nodded, holding the cup out for you once more, "Because you'll take your meds and rest a lot."
"I'm not taking it." You shook your head, refusing to take the cup from his hands.
"If you don't take this medicine," Your dad's voice turned stern, though you knew it was out of love and not annoyance, "I'll never let you catsit for Emily again."
Your mouth fell open in indignant horror, "Dad! How could you?!"
"Take your medicine." He smirked, setting the cup down on your nightstand, patting your shoulder gently, "And feel better, pumpkin."

heard u wanted dad spencer requests <3
dad!spencer and wife!reader introducing their daughter to everyone at a dinner at rossi’s or something, the other kids are there and everything, but they’re just so shocked that spencer’s daughter is so extroverted, sociable, and excitable! just the opposite of her daddy <3 maybe she’s also in a little ballet outfit as well, or a figure outfit too, like she does dance or something to make her even more different from her daddy <3
ooh ty ty ty!! this is so cute
~~~
No sooner had Maddie's little ballet-slipper clad feet hit the tile of Rossi's entryway then she was off, toddling down the hallway into the kitchen to a chorus of excited cooing from the assembled party. You and Spencer follow, arm in arm as the little girl makes a beeline for the nearest set of legs, the baby pink chiffon of her ballet skirt fluttering behind her as she throws her arms around Derek's calf, grinning up at him as she babbles excitedly.
"Hey there little miss." He scoops her up, sitting her in the crook of his elbow, where she immediately strikes up a baby-talk conversation with JJ. Looking over her curls at Spencer, he can't help but quip at his friend.
"Well she sure didn't get that from you, Pretty Boy." Your husband shakes his head with a smile, his arm curling around your waist to pull you flush against his side.
"Thankfully, she takes after her mother."
