Silence filled the room.
Nothing but the sounds of your brother's soft breathing was heard. Your eyes were puffy, and your face was covered in tear stains.
You watched your Mother die the other night at the hands of the Minotaur. You did not know what to feel.
You did not know if you should feel sad that your Mother died or feel worried about your brother, for he did not wake up for hours.
All of these emotions just combined together, making you feel useless.
You did not do anything that night, you just watched, frozen in place. You were scared.
Your Mother always told you to protect anyone who would like to hurt him, and you used to do your job perfectly, until that night.
"I brought you some water Y/N, maybe it could help you feel better?" Said Grover, placing the glass on the coffee table.
"I'm fine Grover," your voice cracked, making you curse at yourself. "You don't sound fine," replied Grover, as he sat beside you.
You sighed, "Grover, can I ask you a question?" You asked before facing him. "Yeah sure, anything," replied Grover as he moved closer to you.
"Who is my Father?" You asked, not knowing what to expect him to say. Grover looked at you before opening his mouth but closing it again, thinking about whether he should say the truth to you.
"I don't know Y/N," Grover replied, "What do you mean?" You asked. "All I know is that your Father is a God," Grover replied.
"So how will I know who he is?" You asked, determined to find your father after all of those years he was ignoring both you and Percy.
"About that, your father must claim both you and Percy for you to find out who your father is," Replied Grover, making you frown.
"Why does he need to "claim me" when he is my father?" You asked, getting a bit irritated by your so-called "Father" needing to claim you."
"I- um-"
"Why are you guys being so loud?"
You gasped, turning your head to Percy. "You're awake!" You shouted, jumping on him, and giving him a big hug.
You pulled away, thinking that maybe he got uncomfortable, "Sorry," You whispered giving him a soft smile.
"Are you ok?" Percy asked, "Oh no, I'm fine, I should be asking you that question," You said before chuckling and holding his hand.
"Y/N maybe we should let Percy rest for more since that fight last night was pretty rough," Said Grover as he grabbed your shoulder gently.
"Oh, yeah sure," You respond before standing up, "I will see you later Percy, rest well," You said making him smile.
You walked out and closed the door behind you. "Hello Y/N," You turned around to see Chiron, he was one the people who comforted you about last night, same with Grover.
"Hi," you replied, stuffing your hands in your pocket. "I see you look drained today," he mentioned, obviously pointing out your dried tears
"Oh uh," you wiped your face with your hands, trying to look more presentable.
Chiro stared at you before continuing what he was gonna say. "let's take a walk Y/N, shall we?" he asked.
You nodded before following him.
You still felt weird about this whole "demigod" thing, and you wished this was all a dream and you were gonna wake up in your comfy bed with your Mom's homemade blue chocolate chip cookies.
........................................................................
"Everyone, this is Y/N Jackson, please make her feel welcome!" Said Chiron before walking away, leaving you alone with a bunch of kids in a cabin.
You slowly walked, trying to ignore the stares everyone was giving you. You truly did not feel welcomed at all.
You saw your bag and stuff on the floor, you sat down on the mattress and grabbed your bag, opening it to see if your stuff it still there.
You felt someone walking towards you, making you look up. "Look if you're gonna bully me right now please do it tomorrow I'm not having a great day right now-"
"No, it's nothing like that at all"
Before you could say anything further the guy caught you off, "Oh" You did not know what to say, already embarrassed for making a bad impression on him.
"Sorry," You said, placing your bag beside you. "No, no it's fine! I'm Luke By the way," said the curly-haired guy as he sat beside you.
You noticed the big scar on his face making you want to question him about it, but didn't, not knowing if the topic was sensitive or not.
"I'm Y/N, I think you probably heard it from Chiron," You replied. "Well Y/N, want me to show you around?" Luke asked, before standing up and handing out his hand, waiting for you to grab it.
"Sure," You replied and stood up, not grabbing his hand. Luke put his hand down, a little embarrassed that you ignored his friendly gesture.
"Ok then, let's go," said Luke as he led the way, making you follow behind him.
................................
"Thanks for showing me around Luke," You said before shoving a spoonful of your food in your mouth. Luke chuckled, "No problem," he replied.
"Luke, can I ask you a question?" You asked making Luke look up at you," Oh sure, ask anything," he replied.
"Are you claimed?" You asked. "Oh yeah, I am. My Father is Hermes." He replied.
"Oh," You felt a little jealous of Luke, knowing that his Father already claimed him.
Luke frowned at your sudden behavior change. "Hey, we're on the same team, whether claimed or not," Luke said, giving you a smile.
You smiled back at him. 'Thank you for saying that, Luke," You said before getting another spoonful of your food.
..........................................................................
It was nighttime and you couldn't sleep. You were moving around in your sheets, trying to get into a comfortable position that might make you sleep.
You laid on your back and sighed, "fuck you, Dad," you whispered. If only your Father was not a God, then maybe you would live a normal life, and your Mom would still be alive.
Tears were in your eyes, flowing down to your cheeks. You were thinking about your Mother, about that night.
You were worried about Percy, you hadn't heard anything from him since the morning.
The Hermes cabin was filled with the soft snores of the other children and the sound of your sniffles.
"Couldn't sleep?"
You looked over to your side, "You're still awake?" You asked. "I was sleeping until I heard sniffling," Said Luke before chuckling softly.
"Sorry," you whispered. "No it's fine, a lot of kids here have a hard time sleeping sometimes." Said Luke.
"Really?" You asked, "Yeah, even I did," said Luke. "So tell me, what's in your mind?" Luke asked.
"Nothing," you replied, not wanting to bother him. "I know something is bothering you Y/N, it's better If you let it out, it will make you feel better," said Luke.
"You promise?" You asked.
"Promise, whispered Luke, trying not to wake the other kids. "I miss my Mom, without her I feel so...empty." You said, making Luke frown.
"I'm sorry for what happened to your Mom, I bet she has a special place in your heart." Said, Luke. "She does," You replied, "She does have a special place in my heart." You continued, wiping your tears away.
Luke stood up, grabbed his blanket, and sat on your bed. "If it makes you feel better I can talk you to sleep?" Asked Luke, covering you with his blanket.
You smiled, "that would be nice," you replied, scooting over to give him space to sit.
You and Luke started to talk about random stuff, giggling together when Luke said something funny, almost waking someone in the process.
You did not know why, but you felt safe with Luke, even though you just met him this morning.
"When I was younger I used to be jealous of Percy when he was born, I used to complain to my Mom that he took all of her attention." You said, making Luke laugh. "But in the end, Percy was the one who got all of my attention. My mom used to take these photos of us when I used to sleep in his crib to make sure no "monsters" would hurt him." You said, giggling.
"You sound like a great older sister," Said Luke, smiling. "Thanks," you replied before softly yawning.
Luke chuckled," Looks like you're starting to get sleepy," teased Luke with a smirk on his face. "Yeah, I think I am," you replied, smiling softly at him.
You closed your eyes, you were so sleepy that you did not even realize that you laid your head on his shoulder.
Luke did not know how to react, but all he knew was that he liked it. brought his blanket higher to cover your full body, "goodnight," said Luke, and closed his eyes, sleepiness taking over him.

✦ “ᴄᴏɴꜰᴜꜱɪɴɢ ꜰᴇᴇʟɪɴɢꜱ.” ✦
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
fluff (angst?) prompt: “You have something in your hair, umm… Do you want me to get it out?”
SYNOPSIS - It was your choice, and he didn’t like it. After coming back from helping your allies in Wholecake, tensions grow between you and your captain and your interactions become awkward. The now freed Wano gives you and Law the chance to speak to one another and express both of your true feelings.
CW - spoilers! mentions of stuff from Wholecake to the end of Wano, gn!reader, usage of “Y/N”, mentions of arguments, reader fights off and kills a beast, mention of fainting, holy this is a lot more angsty than I imagined.
A/N - Sorry guys, a lot is happening in my life rn so if I’m not posting that much that is why. Hope you all enjoy this :))
Tumblr media
To say your captain is always stressed is like saying a cat likes milk. It’s just so common. Unfortunately, Law’s stress levels currently were as common as a pig that can fly.
The Heart Pirates made it to Wano just a week prior. You’d decided to follow the handful of strawhats to Whole Cake to help them retrieve their friends and the poneglyph that Big Mom kept in her protective castle.
Much to your captains dismay, to say the least. The two of you fought before you left. He hadn’t wanted you to leave, and you wanted to do something to help with your friend's crew.
Words were said. He argued the strawhats as not being their friend, and how you should “join them if you loved them so much” while storming off. Leaving you saddened and upset. As the mission went on, you couldn’t help but worry for your crew.
Well… more for your captain than crewmates.
Due to the strong currents of Wano upstream entrance, you crash landed in the country and were now searching for your crew in an attempt to keep yourself out of any danger. Which was a lot trickier than you imagined, being that you were venturing through a forest that was packed with dangerous animals. Leading you to your current situation.
“Take this!” You exclaimed, taking your weapon and striking the creature. It screeches in pain, dropping to the ground and effectively disabling it for good.
You take a second to breath, walking up to the beast and dealing the finishing blow. The rush of adrenaline slowed and you steadied your heart rate. All of a sudden, you hear a loud sound of feet coming towards you. Without a second thought you ripped the weapon from its place from the beast's corpse. Ready to attack. When the threat you had thought was completely different.
“Y/N! IT’S US! DON’T ATTACK!” Called a voice that you had remembered. You jumped with joy as you ran over to your crews very own first mate, Bepo. As he wrapped his soft body around you in joy.
“Bepo! Oh my god- I missed you so much!” You gushed. From behind, Sachi and Penguin came up and hugged you tightly as well. It wasn't long before your captain came.
“Captain…” You mumbled. He kept his gaze on you, a frown displayed prominently on his face. Though, you could make out a hint of sadness in his eyes.
Law was always a very proud man. Things not going his way would be difficult for him, and he’d say and do stuff he soon regrets later. He has his faults for sure. But he always made up for his mistakes. In his own Law way.
His silver eyes looked you up and down. You couldn’t help but notice his hands that slightly shook. It was clear his eyebags had gotten heavier and darker since last you saw him. You wondered if it was because of the plan or you.
Before you could say anything, he walked up close towards your direction. Your heart rate increases once again. His arm reached up, causing you to close your eyes in a knee jerk reaction. After a couple of seconds you opened your eyes. Only to find your captain holding out a leaf in front of you, and a lingering feeling of a hand in your hair.
“You had something in your hair.” He states, tossing the leaf aside. A blush came on your face, and you awkwardly laughed.
“Ah. yeah, I guess so. Thanks, captain.” You sputtered. Walking away, you turn your head back to your captain talking to Bepo.
He turns his head to you, and your eyes lock together for a second before the both of you let go. A sinking feeling surfacing in your stomach. It felt bad… but also felt good. A confusing feeling for sure.
Trafalgar Law was at a standstill. For one, he had a pounding headache and his stress levels almost made him feel nauseous. At the same time, he felt funny at the sight of seeing you again. He couldn’t tell if he was happy or upset.
It was just a confusing feeling for sure.
Tumblr media
The war was over.
After days of preparing, planning and fighting, the country of Wano was free and it was the perfect time to party and rest.
At the sound of Kaido defeated, you fainted. The fight took everything out of you. You had awoken to the sound of your friends cries for you to wake. And it had taken a moment before you realised you weren't dead, and your crew was cheering with joy and not fear.
After wandering around you had caught your captain. Sat upon an engawa that viewed the entirety of the Flower Capital in its joyous and festive mood.
He sat with his clean kimono and usual hat put off to the side. Letting you gaze at the back of his raven hair. He seemed content with his relaxed gaze peering over the city.
With caution, you waltzed over to him and lounged next to him. Not saying a word. He glanced over in your direction.
“Oh, Y/N. You’re awake.” He says, surprised. You keep your mouth shut and keep on looking ahead. He starts again, taking a long breath before.
“Y’know, those idiots wouldn't stop crying about you. They kept asking if you were awake every five minutes. God, they’re so annoying…”
You figured he was talking about Bepo, Sachi and Penguin. As they burst into tears at the sight of you awake and well.
“The whole country is celebrating after everything. It’s ironic how they’re the same people who supported the bastard.” He comments, with a scoff.
“I can still feel the pain from before. All that planning and strategizing went to waste thanks to Strawhat- ya’s idiocy. What would he know about a good plan? He invited you to go on that stupid rescue mission.”
“God, I was so furious when you left. You were reckless, stupid and a fool. So adamant about “helping a friend” and “doing it for us”. You didn’t have to prove that you were a good person by leaving.”
“You have no idea how worried I was. For our plan to work, for us to come out of this alive… for you. I’m still a little shaken from everything.”
“Why did you leave us? I’m still…”
“Damn it, Y/N, will you say something!?”
He asks, loudly and with a hint of anger behind his eyes. Along with another hint of sadness. You couldn't help but smile at his silvery eyes as they tried to pierce through your own. But with no avail.
Your hand went up, a finger pointing towards his messy, black hair. You giggle.
“You have something in your hair, um… do you want me to get it out?” You ask, smiling.
A small blush forms on his pale blue cheeks, stretching out to the very tips to his ears. He slowly nods and lets you gently remove the pale pink sakura petal out. A stark contrast to his hair. You giggle once more and with a soft blow, you watch the petal fall down to the restless crowd below. Disappearing into the Flower Capital.
“And this time I asked.” Adding on with the question. Making him embarrassingly scoff and look away. Like a little boy.
“Yeah, thanks…” He mumbles, crossing his arms together.
Without hesitation, you scooch in closer towards him and rest a head on his shoulder. Mainly to test the waters to see what he’ll do. Law tenses, but lets you do what you please. A shaky breath leaving him.
“Law, listen,” You start, gaining his attention by him turning his head to you, “I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I know how much stress I put you under, really. The guys wouldn’t stop talking about it. And- for the record- you weren’t the only one worried. I couldn’t leave the thought of something happening to you in the back of my head.”
His eyes widened. Not leaving your illuminated face. You look over to him, smiling.
“And… for the record again, I was mainly worried about you. You and your stupidly cute worried face.”
A pregnant pause took hold. You wondered if you said something wrong, your heart skipping a beat. Glancing over, you guessed a not so pleased Law. But instead, you were given a captain with a smile. A growing and bright smile.
“God, that’s so stupid. Just like your stupidly cute face, too.” He says, repeating your last sentence in a way that made you playfully nudge him in the shoulder.
The two of you spent the night together just sitting and watching the night progress. After your confessions, everything seemed to go so smoothly. Laughing at your friends partying and tripping while under the influence. It made you feel like parents, in a sense. Watching over your stumbling kids. Law takes a long breath before speaking again.
“Please don’t leave me again, Y/N. I love you too much to lose you.”
“I love you too much to make you worry. So, don’t worry about it, Captain.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You look up, ready to help the most recent customer who walked in; only to find the one person you didn’t. You hold back the urge to roll your eyes. “How can I help you, sir?”
“I’m not here to ask.”
“Then why are you here,” you hiss at him.
"I'm just... checking on you.”
“Checking on me? Did you check on me when my dad died or when my mom left and died in the accident because as I recall, Uley, you didn’t. So, I’m going to kindly ask that you get whatever you need and leave.”
“Have we really come to this?”
“Yes,” you nod, grabbing the next order and setting it in front of one of your regulars before walking back to him. “Ever since you all… changed, things have been tense."
"Why are you here?”
“You know why.”
“No one-"
“You have no idea what anyone thinks or the looks they give me.” You take a deep breath, trying not to let him know how much it affects you. “I just- I want it to stop. I’m tired of them all staring at me like I’m a monster. As if this isn’t enough,” you mumble the last part under your breath.
His shoulders sag, not realizing anything that’s going on in your life. “You should come by the res tomorrow.”
Before you can try and argue with him as he rearranges the bags so he can have a better grip on them.
“No one but Em and I will be there.”
“They’re going to know I was there.”
“They won’t know it was you specifically and besides, I’m their alpha.”
“Way to use your title for your own gain.”
“It got you to smile. Thanks for the food.”
-
You shake your head, knowing it’s a bad idea even though you’re sitting in their makeshift driveway.
Sam’s warmth emanates through the door. “You coming in?”
“You gonna put on a shirt.”
“I will if you come in.”
“That sounds like blackmail.”
“Just-”
“Sam, quit standing in front of her door. She can’t get out if you’re just standing there.”
“Yeah, Sam.”
He narrows his eyes and steps back. “You really want to make fun of the alpha?”
“Yeah, I really do.”
“Alright, you two.”
You snicker when the man beside you lowers his head, looking like a sad puppy.
“It’s nice to see you again. How are you?”
You shrug, officially feeling more awkward than ever.
“You can talk to us, you know. We always cared about you.”
“That’s nice of you to say, Emily. But I don’t think anyone in town would agree with you.”
“Good thing I’m not like everyone else.”
You lower your head as the scent of one of her infamous muffins hits your sensitive nose.
“I’m sure you’re hungry after being up for a while.”
You shrug.
“So, what brings you here?”
“Your heater came into the diner, again and basically begged me to come over.”
Sam rolls his eyes. “You’re one to talk.”
“Why do you think I’m in layers?”
“A sign of self-torture.”
“Sam-”
“I can’t pretend that they’re not hiding themselves from the world after everything that’s happened.”
“Thanks for never changing and I’ll take that as my cue to leave.” You move to get off the stool.
“No, you’re not. Sam, stop bringing up things they’re not ready to talk about.”
“Fine.”
She hands you a mug of hot cocoa, knowing it’s your favorite to have around the holidays.
“What… do you guys know?” You tap the rim of the mug, watching the steam disappear.
“Only that you shifted,” he answers after the couple share a look with one another.
“Everyone thinks I shifted in the car, right?”
“Not everyone.”
“What do you think happened?” You ask, lifting your head.
"A cold one was nearby.”
You nod, “yeah. She,” you shake your head, feeling your body start to shake.
"You don’t have to talk about it.”
You give her a soft smile.
“She decided to leave because it was too much and left me a note, not even bothering to apologize and it- it pissed me off. I shifted and then ran after her, only to find one of them going after her and… took care of it.”
“You weren’t in the car?”
You shake your head, wiping your cheeks. "No."
"Why does everyone think you were?”
“I pulled her out and-” You cover your face.
“Do you remember who it was?”
“It was some redhead, I think. She definitely wasn’t happy with me.”
“What do you mean?”
You shrug, not wanting to worry them.
After talking for a few hours, you know it’s time to leave.
“What? No," Emily whines.
"Em, they don’t like me, and I’d rather not be glared at while you try and take care of everyone.”
“I still don’t want you to leave.”
“I do.” You grab your stuff and grab your bag before pausing. “Thank you for listening.”
“Always,” the woman smiles. “We’ll see you again, okay.”
-
You kept in touch but didn’t go back to their home for a while, not until you were dragged back by Sam but we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves.
-
You knew what was happening and watched from a distance, never letting the cold ones or the other wolves know of your presence.
The alpha was the only one who knew you were there.
You didn’t tell him you’d be nearby in case they needed an extra body because they thought you were a murderer.
A couple of the newborns sneaked into the woods to try and escape but never got far enough with you there.
Body parts were flying around so no one questioned anything when more came their way.
Then you turned around and noticed one of them aiming for Leah, before Jake could even try to intervene, you did; barely batting an eye when they stared in your direction.
You shoved her out of the way and took care of the newborn before anyone could get hurt, shocking everyone but Sam, who grabbed your arm and pulled you to the side. “What was that?”
“I saved someone from your pack before they could get hurt, what’s it look like?”
“Don’t take that attitude with me.”
“Try and control me, watch what happens.”
He growls your name.
“I needed this.”
The mind reader is beside you two, trying to calm everyone down. “She’s the reason, isn’t she?”
You glance at him from the corner of your eye. “Yeah, so this felt like I could save someone and get my own revenge.”
“She, did it?”
You scoff, snatching your arm out of his grasp. “Don’t act like you didn’t know. You knew the moment I told you.”
He tries to defend himself but you’re not having any of it. “I ask one thing of you, vegetarian.”
He raises his brow.
“I lite her.” You pull up your sleeve, he notices the bite on your arm but doesn’t comment on it (yet).
You take the torch from the blonde and stare into the red head’s eyes for a second, “hopefully you’re not tortured too bad in hell.”
You glance at the other cold ones and raise a brow. “If you guys die, you’re definitely not going where that bitch is. You know better and have worked on redeeming yourselves.”
They glance at one another, not expecting you to hear that.
You rip your sleeves and make a quick wrap for the human. “Wrap this around your arm, it should help until you can get the proper bandaging."
She blinks owlishly, “oh- uh- thanks?”
“Don’t mention it.”
-
“Who do you think you are?” She gets in your face.
“You better move before you do something you’re going to regret, Leah.”
“Oh, yeah. That’s rich coming from the murderer.”
You scoff through your nose and grab her by the collar of her shirt, her eyes widen not expecting this to get physical but doesn’t back down. “Say that again when I’m the one who saved your ass. You have no idea what happened that day, so you need to shut your mouth.”
Sam stands behind you, waiting to see what happens because he knows that you know better than to fight someone.
“Keep your pack in check, Uley.”
“Where are you going?”
“Somewhere I won’t get pissed off.”
-
You start to head into the woods when the mind reader stands in front of you.
“Did she do that?”
You don’t need to look down to figure out what he’s talking about. “That’s why neither you nor the others can smell me. I hide it.”
“They don’t know, do they?”
“Not about this, only Sam and his girl know about the red head's involvement. I only shared so you’d know.”
“That was kind of you to share even when you didn’t need to.”
“Yeah, I get it. I’m frickin’ amazing, can I go now?”
He steps aside. “You should stay with them.”
“How can I do that when they don’t trust me?”
“Make them.”
“It’s not easy, Cullen.”
“If you can do it with their alpha, you can tell the others.”
You roll your eyes, “get your girl checked out before she gets an infection.”
He heads back over towards Bella.
-
“Did you see her arms?” The human asks.
He nods. “They don’t know.”
“Know what?”
“Of Victoria’s involvement in the worst day of her life.”
Esme and Jasper’s shoulders sag, unable to imagine what you went through.
“And it’s still alive?” Rosalie chimes in.
“She'll become hybrid.”
The Cullens raise their brows.
-
Sam orders everyone to go back to Emily’s and hopes you do the same after seeing your arms.
You roll your eyes and answer his call. “Unavailable, please leave a message after I hang up."
“Cute, get to Emily’s.”
“You can’t make me.”
You can hear the couple arguing over who should be the one to talk to you.
“Please come over. We have a lot to talk about.”
You sigh, “do they still think I did it?"
"You can change their minds.”
“That’s so much work,” you groan.
“Please. I haven’t seen you in a few weeks and I know you barely know your way around a kitchen.”
“I’m better than you think.”
-
You stand on the porch, knowing it's going to be hell the moment you step inside.
“You’re going to put a hole in their porch the longer you stay out there,” Paul jokes, earning a chuckle from almost all of his pack mates.
You open the door and ignore their gazes as Emily pulls you into a hug.
“I’m glad you’re okay.” She pulls back and checks over your eyes stopping on your arms. Her worried eyes land on your face. “Did she-”
You glance at the pack from the corner of your eye, sensing their stares.
Sam stands beside you, placing a hand on your back as he shares a stare with his fiancée. “Sit down with the others while I finish up dinner.”
He guides you to sit but the uncomfortableness emanating from them makes you aim for the couch. "You're sitting at the table.”
“Sam-”
“A pack sits together.”
Paul and Jared scoff. “As if they’re part of the pack. Not after what happened,” the former says.
You tense up, closing your eyes so as to not lose your cool.
“Don’t talk about it,” Emily tells them.
“How are we supposed to ignore the fact-”
You growl, eyes changing colors; you can’t turn around. “Ignore the fact that my mother died, and I almost did, at the hands of that red headed bitch no less.”
Emily says your name.
“Sorry, Em. I know cursing is basically forbidden in here but that was me being nice.”
You push yourself off the couch. “This was a bad idea.” You try to pass the pack when one of them sticks their foot out, you kick it with too much strength, irking the hot head.
You open the door and nearly fall, the doorway being the only reason you’re still standing.
“Hey, hey,” Sam started freaking out. “What’s going on?”
You run towards the railing and throw up.
“Why is it- are throwing up-” He stops himself when he sees the color. “What did you do?”
“I’m dying lone wolf. What does it look like?”
“I told you-”
“They hate me. It was never going to happen.”
He picks you up and brings you back inside. “Call Carlisle and ask him what we can do?”
Paul makes another snide comment and you’re losing it.
You get away from the alpha and grab the wolf’s shoulders, shoving him into the wall, not at all making eye contact with him until you hold him in place, with the black bile dripping down your chin.
“Listen here, Lahote and listen well. I will not take any more of your smartass comments. I am still a person with the same issues as yours just a little extra, but your comments stop now. I am tired of everyone thinking I did it. You want to know what happened. That red head came into town and my mom decided enough was enough, she packed a bag and was getting ready to leave. I shifted, found her about to eat my mom and wound-up getting bit only to find that she did go for my mom and held her till her last breath. Then as they hauled her away, I found the scars and realized what happened. Someone spread some rumors and here we are. You want to say anything else?”
He shakes his head, letting out a deep breath.
"Holy shit!" Jared says as soon as your body sways.
Leah, the closest to you, grabs you before you could fall. "We need to take her to a hospital."
"She won't go but maybe the imprint will help?"
"Holy shit!"
"Shut up, Jared," Embry takes initiative and reaches over to punch his pack brother's shoulder. "Shut up man. You're not helping."
The one who can't stop repeating himself rolls his eyes. "You can't tell me I'm the only ones whose mind was blown with everything we just learned."
"You're not but you can shut up."
"Take her to the guest room while I call-"
"No!" Paul stays where he is, debating on leaving now so as not to hurt you anymore than he already has.
The sight of his imprint half dead in Leah's arms and the jokes he made while trying to trip you make him realize he's an even bigger idiot than he thought. "Don't call the leech doctor."
"What are we supposed to do? Let them slowly die when we know there's someone who could have saved them?"
The hot head wants to growl at his alpha but doesn't because he doesn't want to lose it faster than he wants, he's having a hard time trying to calm himself as it is.
"He's here."
Carlisle smiles, "Alice had a vision and sent me over as soon as she could."
"We appreciate it."
"What's going on with our patient?"
Everyone tells them what they know and have seen.
"I see. There is a likely possibility that the venom is working through their system and hasn't quite mixed yet."
"What does that mean? They have to die in order to live?" Paul chimes in.
"It may also have to do with the fact that they haven't shifted as often as you and are not part of a pack. Lone shifters have a hard enough time trying to survive on their own but mixing in the venom, is well-"
"A death sentence just waiting to happen," Sam finishes for him.
The doctor doesn’t want to tell him he's right and knows his silence is enough.
"Is there anything we can do?"
"Continue to make sure they are comfortable and let nature heal them."
"So, your solution is to let them die?!"
"Get him out of here," Sam orders Jared, Embry, Leah, and Quil.
They drag him out so the two can continue their conversation.
-
"I know you just imprinted but you need to calm down, dude," Jared tells him.
Paul continues to shake, unsure of anything he's feeling right now.
On the one hand he has someone to love and protect but on the other hand, he has to try even harder to control himself otherwise he's going to lose it.
He's also upset because he was acting like such a dick to his imprint and even though he never thought he'd find them; he definitely didn't want this to be his first impression. "How am I supposed to calm down when everyone's solution is to let them die?"
With Jared blocking his way in, he can easily get in his face.
"How would you feel if this was happening with Kim, huh? Tell me that."
His friend's face hardens, "don't talk about her."
"Then don't try and talk about mine like you know something."
They stare at each other, their chests heaving with each heavy breath they take.
"Great, now that we've had our macho match, can we go for a run? As much as I want to make it up to them, I don't want to be here any longer when we can't apologize," Embry interrupts.
The two shake their heads and head into the woods so they can phase and be free to run wherever they want.
-
"How can we help them?" Sam asks the doctor.
"I'm going to be honest with you, Sam. This is a little out of my jurisdiction, but I will do all that I can to help anyway, I can."
The alpha nods, "I appreciate it."
"I believe now their transition will be complete within the next few days."
"What brought this on?"
"It was only a matter of time before it hit, and I think the adrenaline and stress of the battle speeded things up." He glances back at the alpha who stares at your body with much concern. "May I ask, how close you are to the lone shifter?"
"Before everything happened, we were close. I always thought of them as my younger sibling but then everything happened, and I stopped talking to them because I was concerned for their safety and didn't want to hurt them."
The doctor can tell by the look on the shifter’s face that he's still disappointed in himself. "You did all you could and allowing my assistance is more than they could ask for."
"How long will it take?"
"My guess is, they'll be ready by tomorrow."
"So soon?"
"Their shifter DNA is altering the venom and their genetics. Now that they're resting, they've been able to heal themselves."
He notices the expression on Sam's face. "Let's give them privacy. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day."
-
Emily and Sam hug one another, unsure of what to think; they never wanted this for you, and they feel terrible because they can't help you.
"The boys should be back soon, yeah?"
He nods. "Hopefully Paul's calmed down."
"I think this is going to be a hard time for him."
"Yeah, I know," the alpha sighs.
The boys and Leah make it back to their home and sit at the table. "What are we going to do?"
"We have to wait."
"Did you two know?" Leah asks.
"They told us what happened, but we didn't know she bit her," Sam tells her. "We knew they were hiding something, but we didn't expect this."
"You should have told us," Paul grumbles while snacking on a muffin.
"You didn't even like them until you imprinted," Jake points out.
"I'm not the one on trial here."
The young wolf scoffs, "you should be."
The hot head stands up, pushing the chair back. "You want to take this outside?"
"Maybe I do."
"Alright, you two, that's enough."
They back down at the voice of the alpha, although it takes Jake a few more seconds before he sits down where he was. "You two need to stop it. We've got enough to deal with right now."
After an hour, most of the pack leaves; some to do their patrol shift, others to spend time with their family.
"Do you want to stay in the room with them?" Emily asks, noticing the longing he directs at the door.
He doesn't want to say it out loud and nods.
"I'll tell Sam when he gets back, you can go in but be careful, okay?"
"Do you think they'll forgive me?"
She nods, remembering her and Sam's minor falling out after his episode. "It'll take time."
He sighs and the door inches open, he hesitates to move.
The sight of you almost lifeless and thinking he hates you, kills him.
Why didn’t anyone tell them they’d get so sappy?
He doesn’t know whether he likes it or not as he takes a seat by the bed. His eyes trail over your face, taking in every inch of you.
If he was the artsy type, he’d definitely paint you. He doesn’t know when he fell asleep but waking up to the sun rising was annoying, just because he was one with nature doesn’t mean he needs it to be his alarm clock.
He rubs his eyes, trying to remember everything that happened last night and glances down at you.
You moved in your sleep, the hand practically reaching for him, warms his heart.
He grabs it, wanting you to be comfortable and not wake up with achy joints.
Your eyes move and he doesn’t realize it. It’s hard to open your eyes but you manage to do it, only to find the hothead holding your hand.
You freeze and his eyes trail up your arm, staring into yours.
“You like me now?” Your voice cracks after not having used it in a while.
He shakes his head and reaches for the glass Emily left, inching closer and closer to your face.
You grab it from him after pushing yourself up, back resting against the headboard. “What happened?”
“You died.”
You blink your eyes rapidly, trying to understand what he just said. “I’m sorry?”
“The venom from the bite was killing you and the fact that you barely shift… didn’t help.”
“So, now I’m both?”
“I think so.”
You set the cup down and push sheets off your heating body.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
“Leaving,” you grumble.
He pushes himself out of the chair and grabs your wrists, stopping you. “No, you’re not.”
“You don’t own me.”
“The imprint bond says otherwise.”
You snatch your wrists out of his grasp, “no, the bond is basically saying we’re soulmates and you don’t own me.”
You make it out of the door and into the hallway before it clicks. “We’re imprints?!”
“I think they’re awake,” Jared comments and shoves a piece of bacon into his mouth.
Embry smacks the back of his head.
“No, no, no.” You stand before the woman you go to for everything. “Tell me it’s not true.”
The corners of her lips twitch.
You snatch a sausage and munch on it. “This is not right.”
“Thanks, sweetheart. I feel the love.”
You purse your lips and glare at him. “You’re the one that was being a dick yesterday and now because of the bond, you want to be my prince charming.”
“I never said that.”
“You’re acting like it.” You sit on the couch before any of them realize where you are going. Your head plops against the back of the couch. “Why am I so damn emotional?”
A warm hand rests against your knee; you lift your head and find those damn attractive eyes that have always captivated you. “You went through a big change which has altered a part of you.”
“I didn’t want this,” you sniff.
He nods, “I know but w- you’re going to get through it.”
“You weren’t nearly half as nice as this before you shifted.”
“Sweetheart, I was nicer to you than most people.”
“It’s true,” Jared and Quil chime in.
“No one asked you two.”
They stare at you with wide eyes and raised brows as if this had proven their point.
“If you’ll let me, I’ll be there for you.”
You stare at him, gulping at his words. “How do I know you mean that, and you aren’t just saying that, so I don’t eat half the town?”
“We,” he clears his throat. “We came up with an alternative if you wound up being more of a leech- cold one, more of a cold one.”
“Am I going to eat a bunny?”
“Or a squirrel,” Jared jokes, earning no amused faces in return. “You all need a new sense of humor,” he mumbles, crossing his arms.
“How do you feel?” Sam asks.
“Like I’m on an emotional roller coaster.”
“Are you hungry?”
“I’m always hungry for Em’s food.”
Paul guides you to the table so you all can eat.
“Should we call the doc?” Embry wonders out loud.
“Don’t need to,” your imprint grumbles.
You run to the door, opening it. “I smell bunny.”
He chuckles, “it was the only thing we had.”
“Do I have to?”
“It will help with the urges.”
“There’s only one urge I have, and I don’t like it.”
“What?” Seth asks.
“Nobody tell him,” says Quil.
“Come on, don’t be like that.”
“I think it would be wise if you took this. We don’t know the severity of your condition yet.”
“I’m fine. Just trying to wrap my head around the fact that no one hates me.”
“We’re totally sorry, by the way,” Embry adds. “Ow!”
“Not my fault, man,” Jared raises his hands.
The two start to brawl, leaving Sam to try and stop it while Carlisle talks to you and Paul, explaining how you should be careful and thanking you for your assistance.
-
“I know I was a jerk to you but,” he glances over to Emily and Sam. “Would you ever consider accepting my apology and going out with me?”
“Give me a few days to adjust and then if I think I’m well enough, ask me again.”
“Hey, man. It wasn’t a no, alright,” Seth holds his hand up for a high five.
The hothead shoves the kid to the side, following you so he can sit in the open chair to your left.
Emily pours you a drink and sits down so you all can eat.
-
A few days later and you’re feeling better, still adjusting to everyone’s new attitude towards you.
You stick with more human meals than the animal blood the Cullen’s shared with you, not wanting to rely on it.
Things with Paul are still interesting.
He’s slowly worming his way back into your heart. “You want to go on patrol with me?”
“Aren’t you supposed to be with Quil?”
“He wanted to switch.”
You stare at him with a deadpan expression. “Did you threaten him?”
He raises his hands. “I did nothing.”
“Sure, you did,” you chuckle. “Come on,” you call out.
“Where are you going?”
“We have to patrol.”
He stares at your bare back. “This reminds me of when I first took you out.”
“You barely asked me out and then kept me in your backseat after school.”
“I wanted you to stay warm.”
“Oh, is that what they call it?” You ask with mischief in your eyes.
He nods, pulling you back into him by your waist; his chin resting on your shoulder. “I actually kept you there so no one else would see you.”
“Wha-”
“Didn’t want them seeing the hottie in my car and think they could get with you.”
“What a gentleman,” you tell him with a dry tone.
He shrugs, chuckling under his breath, “I try.”
“Are you serious?”
“About what?”
You run behind a tree and shift, waiting for him to catch up; it doesn’t take him long.
“About what?”
“Not wanting anyone to ask me out.”
“Why would I lie about that?”
“To get in my pants?”
“I was already getting with you.”
“I wouldn’t be so cocky. You’re still in the early stages of this relationship.”
“So, we’re in a relationship?”
“I never said that.”
He nudges you with his snout. “You did, don’t deny it.”
“I’m denying nothing. You need your hearing checked.”
“I think I heard you just fine.”
-
You roll your eyes and speed up, racing to meet the others; you meet Leah, Embry, and Jared.
The two former run to you and tackle you, playing around with you while Jared goes for Paul.
All of you run back to Emily’s when Sam calls you all back.
The air flowing through your fur is amazing, not to mention the fact that you’re getting to know your imprint, slowly but surely falling for him.

Lips of An Angel- Drew Starkey x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
summary: based on the song Lips Of An Angel by Hinder. (take a listen! i recommend it!!) Y/N drunkenly calls up her ex boyfriend drew, to confess her love she still has for him and all her regrets from their past relationship.
warnings: odessa…., alcohol consumption, emotional cheating (if you even call it that), angst, a tad of fluff if you squint, slight mentions of physical/mental/emotional abuse (not from drew), lmk if i forgot anything bc i’m sure i did lol.
a/n: for starters…. i’ve been waiting to write this one and i was gonna do it for rafe first but it just felt more right to do drew lol. also please don’t come at me for the way i put odessa in this. (personal opinion: i don’t think they’re really a thing irl but whatever). for the sake of this fic i had to put her in it to work as she’s the only prominent female in his life besides his sisters so bare with me please. (personally not a fan of her for my own reasons and things i’ve read) hope you all enjoy this one!
revised and edited by the one and only @slut4drudy ilyyyyy
as drew had just put the last of the champagne glasses into the sink from his and odessa’s small get together with friends, he could hear his phone ringing that all too familiar ringtone… the ringtone he had set for only her. he thought to himself… how strange it’d be for her to call him at such an absurd hour after not talking to one another in two years.
him and Y/N had began to date their senior year of college at western carolina university, and just like every college couple, they eventually broke it off a few years later. it had been a mutual agreement when he got cast on netflix’s show, outer banks, as she didn’t want to hold him back any longer from achieving all the goals she knew he would. the two however kept in contact regularly until none at all just two years ago when she’d started dating her now boyfriend maverick. and from what Y/N seen drew had also moved on… to his costar odessa.
“hey, uh drew your phone is ringing. do you want me to get it?” odessa asked drew as he finished washing the champagne flutes, drying his hands hurriedly with the towel next to the sink.
“uh, nah, um i’ll go answer it. it might be my mom. you know her and not being able to sleep and missing her kids. i’m just gonna go in the reading room and take the call. i’ll be back out in twenty. sound good?” he asked warily.
“yeah yeah take your time. tell her i said hi for me” she smiled as his towering figure walked past her frame and into the living room, picking his phone up. his large thumb moved nimbly against his phones screen to answer the call from Y/N as he entered the reading room, plopping on the couch.
“h-honey, why you callin me so late? it’s kinda hard to talk right now” he stuttered out her pet name he hadn’t called her in years. all he received in return were her soft sobs from the other line. those little soft sobs shattered his heart. the last time he’d heard them was because of him. because he had spoke the idea of maybe they should break up. because he didn’t know if he could do the long distance relationship, and Y/N had just agreed. no hesitation because she wanted whatever would make him happy. and if that meant breaking up with her and breaking her heart, then so be it. she wanted what was best for him because she loved him.
“honey, why are you crying? is everything okay?” drew whispered out through the phone to his broken ex in an uneasy tone, as his jaw clenched. he hated the idea of her being sad. he always had.
“w-why are you whispering?” she sighed as more tears streamed down her face.
drew bit his lip, exhaling a huff of hot air he hadn’t known he was holding before speaking, “i gotta whisper because i can’t be too loud.”
“why? i-im sorry. i shouldn’t have called. this was so fucking stupid” Y/N slurred out into her end of the phone, catching drew’s attention.
“oh, well, my girls in the next room” he spoke as he paused to let her speak.
“like i-i said… this was st-stupid of me” she slurred out again before continuing, “you’re moved on. i get it”
“honey, Y/N, it’s not like that. i swear. s-shes not even my girlfriend” he tried to elaborate before she cut him off.
“then why’d you call her your girl?”she challenged.
“baby, you’re drunk. i can tell by the way you’re slurring your words. what’s wrong? why’d you call?” drew tried to deflect the question and ask the more important questions; why she’d called and why she’d been crying.
“answer my questions first please” she hiccuped through her phone and into his ear.
“we haven’t put a label on it. in all seriousness i don’t even know what i want. i don’t even think she knows what she wants. it’s more of a friends with benefits kind of deal” he sighed out as his left index finger and thumb pinched the bridge of his nose as he sighed once more, contemplating to speak what he’d been thinking for awhile now. “but honey, if i’m being serious, sometimes i wish she was you”
“i wish i was her too” Y/N whimpered out as she took a gulp of the vodka from the bottle she’d been coddling in her arms, sitting on the bathroom floor, hiding from maverick.
“i guess we never really moved on… did we?” he chuckled out, causing Y/N to smile at the sweet sound of his chuckle. it was bliss to her ears. she’d missed that sound so much in the last two years.
“now answer my question honey, what’s wrong? why’re you calling so later? isn’t it like after 1am there back home in charlotte. right?” he asked Y/N in a concerned tone, face scrunching up in worry as well, though she couldn’t see it.
“u-um. drew it doesn’t matter. forget i called you. okay?” Y/N tried to deflect his concerning questions he’d been shooting her way since the call had started.
“Y/N, honey. i’m not hanging up until you tell me what’s got you so bent out of shape that you’re drunk off your ass, drunk calling me at 1 am your time all while sobbing. i just won’t” he huffed out, losing his patience in the girl on the other line.
“joseph” she began to slur, sternly, “i said it doesn’t matter. go back to your girl or whatever the fuck she is to you” she hiccuped yet again.
“fuck, i cant believe i’m about to say this right now, but it’s really good to hear your voice sayin’ my name. it sounds so sweet” drew smiled to himself as he softly giggled. maybe it was from the champagne he’d had earlier or maybe it was the blissfulness from just hearing Y/N oh so sweet voice saying his name again.
“i love you” Y/N slurred out once more as she started to cry again. “i’ve never stopped” she continued. “i thought i could and would move on but i cant and it hurts me that we aren’t a thing anymore” she continued to weep.
“honey don’t say that. please” he frowned as his heart cracked yet again over his ex girlfriend and her words. more like over her admittance of missing him so much still even after all these years.
“why not, drew? it’s the truth” she sniffled as she wiped her runny nose with the sleeve of his old college sweatshirt she’d still kept after all these year even after their breakup. she picked the bottle of vodka back up and took another swig of it.
“those words…. fuck. they’re coming from the lips of an angel baby. and hearing those words, it’s makes me so fucking weak. because as much as i want to be with you… i cant” he sighed as a single tear streamed down his stubbled cheek, not even bothering to wipe it away. he soon continued, “i never want to say goodbye, honey. and it’s so fucking hard to admit that. but, girl, you make it hard to be faithful with the lips of an angel” he dryly chuckled as the memories of their kisses ran through his brain. it still felt so real. the longing to be near her was still there. and the butterflies. and the desire to make her happy. and the want to make her feel safe and loved.
“drew, you’re the one who just said you guys aren’t even a thing so why would you even say that?” Y/N croaked out as she wiped more of her tears away.
“it’s complicated honey. i feel obligated to be faithful even if her and i aren’t really officially a thing. now please for the love of god, baby, why are you crying? what’s wrong? what happened?” drew exerted his concern as his eyebrows scrunched together in worry.
“i- uh, drew you cant do anything about it, so it doesn’t matter” she whimpered in a whisper, reaching for the bathroom door knob to make sure it was in fact locked. she squeezed her eyes shut as soon as she heard mavericks yells from their kitchen.
“you know, it’s funny that you called me tonight, Y/N/N, because we had some friends over and the whole time i was just thinking of you and how you’ve been. i haven’t heard from you in two years, hunny” drew whispered, his voice strained from the way his heart clenched in pain at the lack of communication between the two when they had both promised to keep in contact.
“maybe that’s why i dream of you. you know what they say, if you dream of someone that means they’re thinking of you. do you dream of me too?” she spoke shakily, as her jaw began to quiver, biting back yet another sob.
“what about maverick? and yes i’ve dreamt of you too, love. i do often” he confessed as he thought back to his dream he had of her from the other night. the two of them had gone on a picnic in the mountains back in their home state of north carolina, enjoying the scenery and all it had to offer, that was until he was awoken by odessa’s loud alarm blaring throughout his bedroom. drew’s lips parted once more as he spoke again, “and does he know you’re talking to me? will it start a fight?”
“th-that’s why i-i uh called. he… uh he got mad again and s-started to throw some things around the kitchen. h-he said some things which isn’t out of the ordinary with him” her frail voice cracked as she finally admitted to him why she had called him so late in the first place. tears once again started pouring out of her once bright eyes which have now been filled with void. “he drinks… a lot. and when he does… he gets kinda aggressive. he will do things to me and say horrible things as well. i-i called you tonight because i’m drunk and i miss you and i know you’d never do this shit to me and because you listen. so well. you always have” she began to cry again for what felt like the twelfth time that night.
“honey, what are you talking about? has he hit you? do you have a place to go?” drew shot up at the mention of mavericks behavior coming from Y/N. he was on high alert and wanted nothing more than to protect her at that instant.
“i shouldn’t have even called. does odessa even know you’re on the phone with me? i don’t want her to get mad at you. i shouldn’t have even called” Y/N stumbled over her words due to the excessive amounts of alcohol she’d been drinking and maybe even a mix of anxiety.
“no, i don’t think she has a clue. i told her it was probably my mom, but, i knew it was you. i still have your number saved to my phone… with your ringtone too. couldn’t get myself to delete it, even after all these years” he confessed as he ran a hand through his shaggy hair. he bit his lip in frustration before speaking sternly this time around, “Y/N, honey, tell me…. has he fucking hit you?”
“y-yes. but he didn’t mean to” she tried to excuse her boyfriends actions, though deep down she knew it was a lie. “and yeah if i have to i can go to my brothers but i don’t need anyone’s fucking help or pity” she blurted a little loud.
“fuck, Y/N” he sighed as fresh tears broke his waterline of his azul eyes, his jaw clenched tight.
“it’s okay, drew, i promise. i’m not your problem anymore. i haven’t been for four years now.” she expressed as she drank the last bit of the vodka that was left in the bottle.
“Y/N can you do one thing for m-“ drew was cut off by a soft knock on the reading rooms door, notifying him that someone ,odessa, was on the other side.
“hey, uh you almost done? it’s getting late and i wanna go to bed” she complained to drew as he’d pulled his phone away from his attentive ears.
“u-uh yeah. let me tell my mom goodnight real quick” he stuttered nervously, worried she’d been ease dropping on part of the private conversation he’d been having on the phone with Y/N. and with that odessa nodded her head as she left the room, shutting the door as she went.
“what is it that you want me to promise you?” Y/N sniffled.
“call me if it gets bad again. i’ll fly out there immediately”
“i promise.”
“i never wanna say goodbye” he admitted to her after her promise.
“i don’t either, but you have to” she spoke flatly as she’d just heard Odessa moments before. she opened her mouth, speaking one last line, “i love you drew”
“i-i love you too honey” drew spoke the words he’d been bottling up since the day the two broke up, as fresh tears streamed down his stubbled cheeks. during the moment he spoke those words all he could hear were mavericks yells and bangs onto the bathroom door through his phone, before the call ended all together.

Make Room For It - Karev x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Ahhh my first Grey's Anatomy Post!!! And it's for my fav Peds Doc!! 😍 I hope you enjoy this I was consistently watching til around season 6 then stopped but have been popping in when my mom and sis watch rn just to check in on my babies.
WARNINGS: Spoilers for Grey's Anatomy season 8 episode 24, mentions of the incident, fluff, depression
********
Empty, numb, heartbroken, all things you felt since you found out about the plane crash and the fact that Lexi wasn't here anymore. You had a stupid fight the night before about forgetting to do your laundry and her scolding you.
You never said "I love you" to her before she left along with Mer and the other on that stupid surgery. You were so stupid! Stupid to let a stupid fight from telling your sister you loved her.
You had Mer sure and you were so grateful to still have her but you and lexi grew up together, your bond was stronger, she was your person, quiet like Christina was Merideth's.
The point is that you were grieving, work became hard, you would make small slip ups, forgetting why you'd enter a room or forgetting the patient's name. It all became too much so you took an early lunch and fled to one of the on-call rooms, locking it with shaking hands.
You slide down the door and just let all the emotions you've been keeping inside finally free, all the guilt, regret and sadness fall from your eyes. When you had run off what you didn't notice was a certain intern had seen you rush past.
You were pulled out of your crying session when there was a knock on the door.
"THE ROOMS IN USE!" You shout, but another knock comes again. Your annoyed now, you mind going on how you want to scream at the person whose interrupted your much needed cry time, but before you can get up a voice comes through the closed door.
"Hey, it's uh me. Look I know I'm probably the last person you wanna talk to right now but will you just let me in?" Of course it's Alex.
You've been seeing him on and off again for a few months, but have since stopped since the accident.
You get up and slowly unlock the door before going to sit on one of the beds while he gently opens the door and locks it once more.
"I saw you run in here and had to check in on you" he says as he comes to sit next to you on the bed, placing a hand on your knee.
"Thanks but I'm fine really, you didn't need to come check on me Alex," you quickly wipe away your tears.
"Yeah well I care about you, and seeing you run in here upset alone, well I had to help you," he says pulling you into a hug. The contact made the tears fall once more. You didn't know how much you needed the comfort of a person. You hadn't gone to Merideth since but having Alex hold you while you cried, triggered something inside of you.
The sobs wrecked through your body as you gripped tightly onto his scrubs.
"Does it ever stop hurting?" You cry out.
"No, you just make room for it" he says rubbing his hand down your back.
Your crying session continues until you are both paged, you look up at him, eyes red and puffy.
"Oh no, I got your scrubs all icky and gross," you wipe your face.
"Ah it's fine I've had worse cover my scrubs, but we should probably answer this page," he says, giving you one of his award winning smiles.
You both get up off the bed but before either of you can leave you pull him into a gentle kiss.
"Thank you, for everything," you say as you walk out of the room.
You leave him there with a smile upon his face.

Finding Love Katakuri x Reader Part 37
Tumblr media
Looking how careful Katakuri was holding her daughter in his strong arms - Protective, secure, but still tight to have her close, the queen could see how much their daughter meant to him. It was the complete opposite, which they had in mind about this man. But to be honest the Charlotte family wasn't really a pleased one. On top, Katakuri wasn't a son in law type. More the warrior, who would beat you to a pulp.
"Look at that. Can you believe it?", the king spoke amused and opened his arms for his daughter to come. (Y/N) gave Katakuri a short kiss on his cheek, which let him gasp of surprise and quickly jumped from the bed to get into her father's arms. Crying relieved they spoke how much they missed each other's presence, while Katakuri and her mother watched the scene silently.
"I see…So I wasn't imagine things after I saw the photo. She really sparkled full of happiness.", (Y/N) 's mother spoke calmly, while giving Katakuri a small smile. He felt his cheeks blush, nevertheless a feeling of sadness build up inside his mind.
"I know you wished someone more suitable for your daughter. For me it's still a miracle either, how she is able to love a man like me..on top after a forced marriage. She was able to get over it and accept me the way I am.",he started and (Y/N) 's mother raised a brow of hearing that. Sighing she gave him a saddened look.
"If I am honest, I planned to run away with her…", her mother spoke and let everyone froze in the spot. Letting out a frustrated chuckle, she gave her sweet daughter a soft smile.
"I was living a daily nightmare. To think that you were maybe locked away, treated bad or crying all day long of this forced marriage, I couldn't endure it. The moment we found you, hurt and unconscious, I was thinking to leave this island behind to get you somewhere safe. That you would be able to start a new life far away, while your father would try to get a new deal with Big mom to save the island… Or and that would have been the last possibility, to evacuate it to get out of her grasp. ", she spoke and let (Y/N) gasp of shock.
" Mother… That would have been insane. It's our home, our kingdom. All the people cherish the peaceful life here…", she whispered, while Katakuri didn't seemed shocked at all.
"Beside the fact that i would have get after you and get (Y/N) back, I understand your thoughts. She is your daughter and you care for her a lot. You are lucky that the situation is a different one, because my mother shouldn't be underestimate. She sure would have ordered to get after every single person of this island.", Katakuri explained with his ice cold expression and let (Y/N) 's parents shiver.
"Yeah. You are right. Katakuri…You seem calmer and more collected than I thought you'd be. Beside the crimes and stories about you, which sure you did because of your mother, I think your feelings for my daughter are totally honest. Don't be so hard on yourself. She loves you and you her.. As long as you make her happy and she is protected, I won't be in your way and give my blessing. ", she spoke with tears in her eyes and was finally able to hug her daughter after such a long time.
"That's all I ever wished.. That you find your luck my dear…God I can't believe that this led you to your happiness… But I am so relieved… So glad that you are okay my dear… ",she kissed (Y/N) 's cheek and smiled brightly.
"I do mother… I love him.", she spoke happily.
Beside that, Katakuri was blushing furiously under his scarf, he was speechless of her mother's words. She was accepting him. The cruel monster, the pirate and most feared man out there. Smiling slightly he felt relieved, but there was still so many things going on, which couldn't wait any longer.
"(Y/N)…", Katakuri called out to his wife and let her look back to him with a soft smile. Getting back to his side she took his hand shyly.
"I know you want to catch up with your family, but I think we should head back to whole cake. If we stay here, we only will cause trouble.", he spoke seriously and (Y/N) nodded sadly and knew that she had to explain her reckless arrival with the bonbon ship. Her parents were already piercing her with their demanding gazes.
"Mother, Father… It's a bit complicated to explain everything..", she started and her mother crossed her arms with an angered expression on her face.
"I guess you just have to try… Explain my little girl why Katakuri was on the one side imprisoned and soon executed, which we found out on the daily news and then, inside a ship with you half dead and clothed in a torn marine uniform.", she spoke and (Y/N) knew right away that her mother was already putting the pieces together. She always had an sharp eye on things like Katakuri. It was like she was able to use the observation haki as well. Shivering of her mothers dangerous aura, she knew that she was in trouble of her actions. Katakuri decided to explain everything to calm the heated situation. They listened carefully of every word, which left his hidden mouth. Her reckless traveling all the way to marineford with Mama's ship, her undercover plan, which leaded to get the attention of Akainu and their escape from this nightmare. It really was a rough time and this brought him to the conclusion that her family was now in danger too.
"(Y/N)…I know your reasons, but this was… I can't find the words…",her mother was burning inside, while her father was sweating fearful beside his wife.
"I have to agree. I always told her to keep focused on her well being and to stay safe. She was and is really stubborn…", Katakuri grumbled frustrated, while her parents knew all too well what he was talking about.
"Nevertheless she did that because of her deep feelings for you..in a way I also understand.. ", her mother added and let (Y/N) smile with reddened cheeks.
"To think that you tricked a higher ranked Admiral.. That sure is troublesome…", the king spoke deep in thought. Discussing their possibilities they came to the conclusion that they had to stay for awhile to get things ready. Big mom's underwater ship was totally damaged and needed time to get ready. It was clear that it was the best way to travel back, than with one of her father's ships, so things had to wait.
"You two still need some rest. For now we keep an good eye onto the seas for intruders. I will speak with the captain immediately. ", her father spoke and started to leave. (Y/N) 's mother gave her a short kiss onto her forhead and smiled.
"Rest you two. And later you should visit grandma. She can't wait to see you..", her mother spoke and let (Y/N)' s eyes widen for a moment. Nodding quickly with a smile, she looked after her parents who left the room hand in hand and giving each other a short kiss like a new in love couple. (Y/N) always adored her parents for their strong and beautiful relationship. They care for each other dearly, something she always wished to have herself. Feeling strong arms wrapped around her body and pulling her close, her lips formed a knowing smile once again.
"Yeah.. I've found this special someone too…", she thought with butterflies in her stomach and turned around to find herself on Katakuri's strong chest. Slowly touching his bandaged torso, she locked eyes with him and enjoyed the calm silence around them. Reaching up to his face she slowly pulled the scarf down to see his soft smile.
"Doesn't it hurt..", she whispered into his uncovered lips, while hesitating to let her weight lay onto him. Smirking he let his hands brush over her back, till they rested onto her butt, which gave her a familiar sensation she often longed for in her lonely nights.
"Not at all… I am feeling perfectly fine my dear… But what about you troublemaker…", he spoke seductively and gasping (Y/N) found herself suddenly trapped under him. He moved so quickly that she wasn't able to comprehend his sudden act. Lustfully he looked deep into her eyes and let her bite her lips to hold back. Something Katakuri didn't like to see and knew all too well how to handle.
"Katakuri…", she gasped of his soft kisses on her neck. God it felt so good to be trapped under this strong man, to be defenseless in his muscled arms. Slowly he came back to her face, his smirk still proudly on his handsome face.
"Tell me… Are you feeling alright?", he hushed against her lips, while (Y/N) tried desperately to kiss him, but he pulled back playfully.
"Yes… I am fine Katakuri.", she whispered and could feel his body relax a bit. Sure he was worried sick after he heard about her condition, but mostly it was the lack of sleep and the dehydration which took its toll on her.
"Good to hear. I wouldn't be able to stop myself now anyway…", he growled and pressed his lips against hers in a passionate kiss. Gasping she kissed back and brushed her fingers through his crimson hair. How he missed to take her just like that. His hands started to travel under her dress and slowly lifting it up. He was desperate. So desperate to have her close without any annoying fabric between them. (Y/N) 's eyes shot open and quickly she stopped her needy husband midway and pulled the blanket over her legs embarrassed.
"Katakuri! Someone could come inside at any second! We can't do that now!", she stuttered flustered and got even more uneasy after noticing that his playful smirk still was plastered on his face. Taking the blanket he threw it away with one swift move and hovered over her body like a predator. Shivering she felt overwhelmed by his intimidating and erotic appearance. She was helpless. (Y/N) realized that her body was already giving in and her mind got more and more clouded with lust. Nevertheless it would be a disaster if her parents would find her innocent daughter catched in between the act of love.
"No one comes… We have plenty of time to do whatever we want..", he whispered into her ear seductively. Kissing his lips again, she let out a sigh, but the next moment her eyes went wide of realization.
Did he really?
"But I recommend that you try to not scream so loud. Maybe that would cause attention. Even if I love to see you like that…", he smirked even more after he saw her blushing madly.
"You… You looked into the future!", she stuttered, while he kissed down her neck and sucked on her skin. A slight moan escaped her lips and let her cling onto his body to control her lust.
"Forgive me my dear. But there was no other way. Can't wait to make my thoughts reality…", he spoke, while kissing her passionately. A short "pervert" escaped her lips, her last attempt to fight back, but honestly it was just her well-behaved mind, which tried to get through effortlessly.
Finally Katakuri was able to lift her dress and quickly (Y/N) pulled it off of her head and threw it aside to show her body clothed in her crimson underwear. Growling of the thought that back then, others were able to see what he was seeing now, he pushed her down and kissed her delicate skin from her neck, till her panties. Enjoying his sweet touch she closed her eyes. Smiling ever so slightly of the beautiful tickling. Slowly he pulled down her panties and without to wait any longer he pressed his lips against her womanhood. A shiver ran down her spine. God she had to bite into her hand to surpress her moans. He did wonders down there. With every move, every lick of his tongue, she felt a shot of pleasure.
"Katakuri… Please…", (Y/N) whimpered and he knew all too well that she was close to lose it. Crawling up to her he pulled his boxers down on the way and embraced her body in an strong embrace. Kissing her tenderly, he pushed himself into her, which let her gasp against his lips.
"You are mine…", he growled into her neck. Throwing her head back in ecstasy, she hold onto him tight for support.
"No one is allowed to touch you…"
Again he pushed deep and let her moan out his name lustfully.
"to see what I am allowed to see…"
Rougher and harder he pounded into her and pushed her over the edge. It felt so unbelievable good. His words, his touch, rough but carefully to still let herself feel good.
"Katakuri..", she hushed and kissed his lips sloppily, while he grunted of the starting emotion inside his body. A wave of heat washed over them and with one final push he climaxed hard inside of her beautiful body. (Y/N)'s body froze and eyes widened she could feel how her body sucked in his manhood while coming hard onto him.
Amazing.
Every move every touch felt so amazing. Shivering of the sudden sensitivity she looked into his half lidded eyes. Sweat glistered on their skin and breathing heavily they let themselves fall back onto the mattress. Brushing some strands of hair out of her smiling face, he kissed her nose lovingly.
"(Y/N)… I love you..", he whispered and felt his exhausted body fall into a deep slumber. Taking the blanket, she pulled them over their naked bodies to get comfortable next to him. Studying his face, she lovingly caressed his cheek with one hand.
"I love you..Katakuri…"

catch up here
Tangible proof. Those words kept ringing in my ear. Jeremiah had written an entire book of tangible proof that he loved me and all I had given him was a summer of lies. Just listen my mom said. Just listen. Just listen. Just listen.
I rummaged through my room to find any tangible proof hidden in these walls. Something I may have forgotten about or deemed less important. I grabbed notebooks that I stashed from school, flipping through them to find notes written back and forth between us but all I found were niceties written by Conrad in between the margins of my Math and English notes. “You’re gonna kill this test!” “Don’t forget to hang the 1.” “This note was so important.” He would take my notebooks when I told him I was struggling and he’d make notes on the sidelines making sure I got everything I needed to get out of it. When I saw them over the next few days in class, I’d smile to myself. I always felt taken care of.
On my bookshelf was a book. The spine read The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. I grabbed it, the only copy I owed of it that had a broken spine and was well loved. It was the same copy I had in middle school that carried me to now. It was the only copy I read religiously. Next to it was a newer copy with the spine still intact and I grabbed that one, too. We all were forced to read it in middle school but it had quickly become my favorite book of all time. I scribbled down annotations in the margins and between the lines over so many years it was barely legible anymore. The new copy was from Conrad. He gave it to me one night while we sat in the basement alone. Jeremiah went to get more snacks and Conrad pulled it out of the couch cushion. “I annotated it with my thoughts. I don’t know, I thought you’d like it,” he said. I read it that night. This was his tangible proof, I thought. All the notes in the margins of my notebooks and this novel - that was his way of telling me he has loved me all these years, too.
Conrad once gave me a copy of Wuthering Heights. It sat on the top shelf, untouched, but he said it was one of his favorites and he hoped I would read it some day. I never did because classics weren’t always my favorite but I grabbed it off the shelf and opened up to page 1 with a pen tucked behind my ear and a highlighter in the spine of the pages. I wrote in the margins and highlighted what I liked and wrote sad faces next to the stuff I didn’t. I only got halfway through before the sun went down and my eyelids felt heavy. Mom went to Susannah’s without me. No one texted.
The next morning I woke up so early the sun wasn’t fully up yet. There was a dark glow to the Earth and the clouds looked pink. I grabbed the book off the nightstand and I finished it. On the very last page, I wrote a letter. My brain hurt. My heart hurt. My hand hurt. But I signed my name at the bottom with a kiss and then shut the book. My tangible proof.
There was a knock on my door. “Are you awake?” Mom.
“Yeah,” I called back as I got up to open the door. She was in her pajamas, her hair in a messy bun, and bags under her eyes. “You look good,” I teased.
She pushed herself into the room with a fake laugh and sat herself down at my desk. It was a disaster between me digging out every ancient artifact in the drawers and all the new supplies we got a few days ago but she poked at it all anyway. “What’s with the mess?” She asked, holding up a notebook from the 7th grade.
“I was just trying to find something.” She cocked an eyebrow up. “What? It’s true.”
“Find what?” I crossed my arms and shuffled on my two feet feeling uncomfortable.
“I don’t know. Proof I love Jeremiah, I guess.” When I said it out loud, it sounded stupid. Why should I need proof when I know it in my heart? My atoms were split from his atoms. I shouldn’t need a piece of paper to prove that, yet, here I was searching. Her face said everything I knew: I was stalling. I was looking for a way out.
Her eyes softened and she sighed, setting down the notebook. “You know when you were younger you used to beg me to buy Jeremiah cards for every occasion.” I nodded because I knew this. I remembered it vaguely but I didn’t know where she was going with her story, so I let her continue. “Easter, Christmas, birthdays. If there was a card for it, you wanted Jeremiah to have one. And even if there wasn’t, you’d want a blank one so you could make one yourself. Do you know how many cards he probably has?” I shook my head. “Hundreds, I bet.”
“What’s your point?” I asked.
She smiled. “My point is that you signed every single one, ‘I love you”. He has heard it a million times. He has it written down a million times from the moment you could write. I used to have to spell it out for you, that’s how young you were.” She was shaking her head as she was talking as if this was obvious. As if I should have already known. As if she has known from the moment I was born I was destined for Jeremiah Fisher. “I’m pretty sure you came out of the womb loving that boy. Don’t go looking for reasons why you don’t.” She flipped open one of the new notebooks. The page was stark white and empty. “But if you need something tangible then write it down.”
When she left the room, I took her spot at the desk. The page in front of me was so full of promise. So full of all the words I’ve been wanting to say. I took a pen and did what my mom said. I wrote down all my feelings. All the good and all the bad and when I was finished, I had my tangible proof. It was the only thing that sealed the whole thing shut. I stuffed it in an envelope and sealed it with a kiss.
Xx
Susannah answered the front door when I rang the bell. I’m not sure what I was expecting but her looks took me off guard. She was perfectly put together and she was smiling. “You’re here!” She exclaimed, pulling me into the foyer for a hug. “Your mom said you weren’t feeling well. How are you?” She smoothed down my hair and kissed my temple before holding me at arms length to look at me.
“I’m good,” I told her, trying to muster my best smile. I felt the need to apologize for the debutante ball but the words didn’t come. I think she saw them in my eyes.
“Hey, don’t worry about everything that’s happened, alright? The boys are okay for now. I will start treatment in a few weeks and all will be well, okay?” She didn’t sound too convinced. “Want me to get him for you?” I didn’t know who she was referring to but I nodded. Both the boys came tumbling down the stairs a few moments later.
They stood in front of me, both effortlessly handsome but in their own ways. Conrad’s hoodie was falling off his shoulders and his hair was messy and pushed out of his face. Jeremiah was put together but I knew it wasn’t intentional. His curls were perfectly placed on his head and they both stared at me with hopeful admiration. “Can I talk to you?” I asked, looking over at Conrad.
The room felt thick. I could feel Jeremiah’s shock and confusion even though I wasn’t looking at him. Conrad cleared his throat and he nodded and stumbled over his words, “yeah, yeah.” He nodded his head so I would follow him up to his room. I avoided eye contact with Jeremiah as I passed him.
Conrad let me in the room first. He shut the door behind him and leaned against it. He kept his hands behind his back and I pictured his white knuckles gripping the doorknob. His eyes were soft. Wanting. Hoping.
I took the book out of my bag and handed it to him. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “What’s this?”
“Open it.” He did, careful not to crack the spine. I can still see my handwriting scribbled across the first few pages. He flipped through them, his eyes scanning over the highlighted parts and reading my commentary on the side. “I figured it was time I repaid you.”
He smiled and shut the book, closing the gap between us. He dropped the book on his bed. His arms wrapped around my waist. It was just instinct for me to wrap mine around his neck and let him spin me around. When my feet landed, he cupped my cheeks. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“I liked the book.” My voice was barely above a whisper. I was too scared to speak. “I wrote you something in the back. A note.” He went to grab the book but I grabbed his wrist, stopping him. “But before you read it I need you to know that it’s Jeremiah. It’s always been Jeremiah.” He didn’t react. His body didn’t stiffen and he didn’t move. He just looked at me and blinked. “Say something.”
“What do you want me to say?” He straightened himself out and was no longer aching to touch the book. “I’m happy for you. I just want you to be happy. That’s all I have ever wanted.”
“I know,” I whispered.
“You’re my best friend but I was stupid to think that I stood a chance next to him. No one compares, right?” He half chuckled and my heart snapped in half. I shook my head and sat down on the bed. Everything felt too heavy.
“You’re not stupid. That wasn’t a stupid thought. I’m sorry. I wish I loved you that way. I wish I didn’t make you feel this way. No one is comparing you two. He’s not better than you, he's just Jeremiah.” I breathed out the last word like it was something I had been holding in for my entire life. A weight lifted off my shoulders and they slumped down. Conrad moved my hair out of my face and tucked a piece of it behind my ear. “I’m sorry,” I whispered.
“I wish it could have been me but you’ll take care of each other. Promise me, he’ll take care of you?” The request felt odd coming from his lips but I think I knew what he meant. I nodded and Conrad kissed my forehead. “Go to him. He’s probably freaking out. I couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.
“I couldn’t talk to him without talking to you first.” Conrad grabbed my hand and stood me up. He pulled me in for a hug and he held me for a few moments. The world felt so quiet I couldn’t even hear the birds chirping. When he pulled away, everything came back to life.  life. Conrad kissed my temple before releasing me completely and I searched the house for Jeremiah. He wasn’t in his room, although his clothes from our summer in Cousins were thrown all around the room haphazardly. The cleaning I did the other day was barely noticeable but it smelled like him.
I found him in the basement laying on the giant Love Sac. It was well-loved and over used, with small holes ripping at the seams that Susannah had patched numerous times before already. His ankles were crossed and his arm was thrown over his eyes to block out the light. He didn’t hear me come down so I looked at him for a few moments as I stood at the bottom of the stairs. My eyes couldn’t drink in enough of him and I could look at him forever but instead, I started to walk toward him. He sat up, blinking rapidly as his eyes adjusted to the light and to me. He smiled gently almost like he didn’t want to really be happy to see me but how could he help it? The corners of his mouth turned up anyway.
“Hey,” he whispered. I gave him a small wave. The letter was itching in my back pocket. “About time you showed up,” he teased. My cheeks flushed and he reached for me. He pleaded, “please don’t tell me you love him.”
I shook my head slightly and his eyes softened. “Jere,” I whispered.
“I love you,” he said. I stuck my hand out loosely and he grabbed it. I wish his life vest in this hurricane of a summer. I was keeping him afloat and drowning him all at once.
“I love you, too,” I said.
“I’m glad you finally agree.” I laugh. I actually laugh. “I love your smile. God, is it the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.”
“Jeremiah,” I tried again, eager to spit out exactly what I need to say. He cupped my cheek and his palm felt hot against my skin. His thumb caressed my face and then my bottom lip, pulling it down gently. I placed a kiss on the pad of his finger.
“Just kiss me, okay? Don’t say anything, just kiss me and be mine.” How could I resist his request? I couldn’t. I let him kiss me and he kissed me like the world was crashing around us and the last thing he would ever remember was the feeling of my lips and I kissed him back as the Earth fell away in giant chunks. His curls wrapped around my fingers and his fingers wrapped around the base of my neck. He was inhaling every part of me, drinking me in with an eagerness I had never expected from Jeremiah Fisher. He wasn’t intense or needy. Never in his life. He was soft and carefree and reminded me of the color of the sky when it’s really early and the sun had just woken up making the sky so clear it almost looked white. Right now, he reminded me of crimson. There was a fire in him that I could not put out.
When he pulled away, our breathing was heavy but it was in sync. We were perfectly in tune. His breath had become my breath and his saliva was now swimming in my body. He was him and I was me and we were one. “Do you know how long I have loved you?” He asked. This admission had struck me right in the gut. He was so desperate for me to love him and it was because he didn’t know I had been loving him all this time.
“Almost as long as I have loved you, I assume.” I reached into my back pocket and pulled out the folded up piece of paper. I probably could have presented it a little nicer but the words just poured out of my body and I was too impatient to wait so I folded it up haphazardly and threw it in my back pocket before I lost the courage. “I wrote this for you, but I’m sure it’s not the first love letter I’ve written for you. According to my mom, you should look through all the cards I’ve given you.” I half-laughed as he took the letter from me, his finger slowly unfurling the paper but I put my hand on top of him. “Don’t open it yet.”
“Why not?” He questioned. I folded my hand over his and he used his other hand, the one not holding my letter, and grabbed my waist pulling me closer to him.
“Read it when you’re alone.” Truthfully, I was embarrased to watch him read it. “And then you can call me in tears because you’re so consumed with love for me there’s no other way to express it other than tears,” I teased, kissing his pouting lips gently as if we had been doing it our whole lives. He smiled into my lips.
“I can think of some other ways to express my love for you,” he mumbled. He shoved the letter in his back pocket and grabbed my waist completely, holding me to his body. I giggled - giggled - like a little girl and kissed him with everything I had inside of me. Kissing him, loving him, was like coming up for fresh air. We collapsed into a pile of limbs on the LoveSac, laughing into eachother’s mouths. I rolled over on top of him and looked down at him. My hair fell in front of my face and he tucked it behind my ear. “Finally,” he whispered.
“You know this is insane, right? Us. Together.”
“Why do you think that?” He sounded genuinely curious but also disinterested. He disagreed and nothing I said would change his mind. I didn’t want to change his mind. I smiled so he knew.
“All we’ve ever been is friends. How are we going to navigate this? Won’t things be different?”
Jeremiah shook his head. “It won’t be different because nothing that I feel is different and I don’t think anything you feel is different. But now, we kiss.” He kissed me and then said, “Us, together, is not inside. It’s right.”
XXX
Later that night, after Jeremiah had read my letter, he snuck through my window. He told me, I love you, thank you, and then he kissed me. He kissed my lips and my jawline and the nape of my neck. We rolled around in my bed, stifling each other’s laughs so my parent’s would not be woken up. It was late and dark and the crickets were alive outside, singing for us.
He asked me how could you have waited so long for this? Why didn’t you tell me sooner? I asked him the same thing and he flushed so red it went all the way down his neck. I didn’t notice the backpack that he was wearing when he came inside but now that was reaching for it, I saw it on the floor under the window. He pulled out the notebook that I had already saw, but I pretended to be confused. “I’ve been writing in this since I was a kid.” He handed it to me and I flipped through the pages I arleady saw.
“What is this?” I asked. Jeremiah was shy and he shrugged his shoulders and he kissed my cheek.
“All the ways I’ve loved you.”
That night, we kissed and we talked. We talked about his mom and he cried on my shoulder and then I started to cry as I apologized for lying to him all summer. I never should have done that, I admitted. It’s okay, he told me as he kissed all over my face. He kissed all my tears away until I could no longer tell why my face was wet. He said he could forgive me for anything. He would forgive me until the day that we die and then I told him I hoped he wouldn’t have to do that. I asked him about Conrad. He stiffened but said he was okay. He was happy for us. He was his brother again.
Jeremiah and I had never been given boundaries from our parents. We never needed them because we were just friends, despite everything everyone thought. But now, he was no longer allowed in my room with the door closed except when he snuck in really late at night without anyone knowing. Susannah was less concerned about what we were doing behind closed doors because she said she just wanted to see her son happy. She just wanted him to wake up with a smile on his face. She told me she wished she could see us get married and I told her I wished that, too. She got a photo of us at the ball framed. We were walking down the stage and he was looking at me like I was holding up the universe and I loved him more after seeing that. If that was possible.
Falling into a routine with him was easier than I anticipated. I thought we would mow over speed bumps with a hesitation that would surely doom us but we didn’t. I didn’t notice any speed bumps. He kissed me when he saw me and he kissed me when he left and he held my hand whenever he could. We did what we always did, be friends, but we kissed. Just like he said. And the kissing was good.
We kissed in the pouring rain one fall night. We were in his living room and the rain was pounding hard on the roof and he grabbed my hand and dragged me outside. I was laughing in shock, mostly, but I was still laughing. Jeremiah was laughing. He was dancing with me in the rain and kissing me as the cold water seeped through all my clothes and he screamed that he loved me over the rain hitting the cement. It wasn’t the first time it was said, of course, but it was the first time it was said since he was my boyfriend. He never had to say it. He said it when he told me to text him when I was home safely even though I was just going next door. He said it when he made sure I was drinking water every day. He said it when he brought me my favorite snacks every day. He said it when he stroked my hair until I fell asleep.
I screamed it back and he kissed me again and then I said, “can we go back inside?” He nodded and we warmed up in hot towels and he waited for me on his bed as I got out of a shower.
“You look good in my clothes,” he told me and then I said I could take them off if he wanted me to and then we made love quietly as the rain bled out of the sky. The birds sang us awake and he moved the hair out my face and tucked it behind my ear and told me, “I love you.” He never could say it enough. I could never hear it enough. It sounded new every single time and I prayed that I would never get sick of it.
“Do you think we were meant for each other?” I asked him one night. We were sitting in my bed. My feet were on his lap and he was stroking my ankle as I read a book for English class. Conrad had notes written in the margins because it was his copy from his own senior year. He went off to college when the leaves turned orange and we hadn’t seen him since but he calls pretty often. He’s doing well, he said. He’s happy.
Jeremiah looked at me. “Of course I think that.”
“Why?” I asked him again. Jeremiah chuckled and he grabbed my ankles, manuvering my legs so they sat on either side of him and then he gracefully pulled onto his lap. He traced my bottom lip with his finger and he searched my face for his answer.
“I have never been more sure of something in my entire life, don’t you feel that too?” I nodded. I felt it, too. I felt it so deeply it filled my lungs and made me feel like I was drowning sometimes but loving him made me feel like I was coming up for fresh air.

Motherly Concern
Juniper: Hey, Winter~!
Winter: Ah?! Ahem! Hello, Mrs. Arc. Can I help you?
Juniper: Oh don’t call me that, it makes me feel old. Call me, Juniper… Or, Mom, whichever feels better~!
Winter: E-Excuse me?!
Juniper: So you, and my mad little scientist… I like the sound of that…
Winter: W-What are you talking about?
Juniper: I can see you two getting together; I remember when I was younger your mother, and I fought all the time for, Acheius. That’s my husband, I obviously won the fight. I often wonder how happy, Willow would be. But, then again, I wouldn’t have my children, and you wouldn’t have your sisters, but nonetheless…
Winter: I-I’m sorry… Juniper, but why are you telling me all of this?
Juniper: I don’t want you to end up like your mother, Winter. A sad drunkard shell of a broken woman. She was so, so much more years ago, you wouldn’t even recognize who she was back then. But, then she married that bastard! He broke her, he lied to her, and married her for the money. She never saw it coming… That why she…
Winter: S-She what…? What did my mother do?
Juniper: You should ask her yourself. She probably won’t tell you, but after what happened she just escaped into the bottle, and now she’s trapped there…
Winter: How do you know all of this?
Juniper: Well, Willow, and I may have fought over, Acheius love, and affection. But, we still loved each other like the sister we never had. And, I don’t want you to be like her; trapped in a broken, heartless marriage. I want you to be happy, and I know you feel happier just looking at him. Sure his little Hunter Drones may love him like they do, but he will never see them in that way, no matter how hard they try, you on the other hand. Well, you’re young, you still have time. But, don’t take too log, otherwise someone else may try, and take him away from you.
Winter: B-But, my career, my job for, Atlas, my team?! W-W-What about all of that?! I-I just can’t leave it for, Jaune. C-Can I…?
Juniper: Who says you have too? You could easily marry him now, and stay in the military as you are now, or you may decide to leave, and be with, Jaune, and what ever family you chose to be. One with kids mind you, it’s not that I just want grandkids, lots of grandkids… But, that they’ll fill a void in your heart that you never knew you had.
Winter: It sounds like you’re placing me, and Jaune in your husbands, and my mother shoes.
Juniper: Meh, I won’t deny I am. But, that just because of what I said earlier; I don’t want you to end up like my dear friend. I want you to be happy.
Winter: Be happy…
Juniper: Listen, you don’t have to decide about any of this now. At most you just have to think about it. Okay?
Winter: I-I’ll try, Juniper.
Juniper: Good, now if you’ll excuse me, I need to have a few words with my son. After that I need to do some clean up work.
Winter: What kind of clean up work?
Juniper: Well help, Willow get clean up. Get her sober, and all. Remind her she still has a friend who loves her. Maybe I should have, Acheius help me. He could be the father presence you kids always needed. Maybe we could finally do that threesome I always wanted to do~!
Winter: T-Threesome?!
Juniper: Then I have to deal with that bastard first. What do you say, incriminating evidence that will get him locked ip for life, or should I just kill him?
Winter: You’re going to kill my father?!
Juniper: Yeah, it would probably easier that way; less paperwork, and no lawyers to deal with.
Winter: W-Wait, Juniper!
Juniper: Well, I’ll be off now; Bye, future daughter-in-law~!
Winter: W-Wait, hold on now?!
Winter: …
Winter: Oh no…
Ironwood: Ah, Specialist, Schnee. Did you enjoy your conversation with, Mrs. Arc?
Winter: I’m not sure… She gave me some advice about, Jaune. Then she told me about her history with my mother. Now she’s going to kill my father…?
Ironwood: Is she now?
Winter: She said so herself, Sir. Should I assign a guard detail to protect him?
Ironwood: No, its pointless. We couldn’t stop her even if we tried. Hell, he may already be dead anyway.
Winter: He may be what?!

"daddy missed you so much" he held her to his chest kissing her head that laid on his chest, he looked to me in the door way "come on mama" he said patting the bed spot next to him I got in bed next to him, he wrapped an arm around me "thank you for coming back" I smiled up at him "of course," he kissed my temple "I love you" he whispered, I leaned up and pecked his lips "I love you too Mr. Diaz" he pecked my lips twice then looked down to Natalie "shes so beautiful" he smiled making me do the same I nodded and kissed her head.

Umineko Ch1. Replay 4
The fact she calls out to her mom when she is the one person who isn't gonna figure out a calm way to deal with this hurts, ouch. Even amongst all the hatred she has for her mom she still trusts her.
Tumblr media
This line always stuck with me because of how insane it reads on the outside. She's 9! A whole 9! She's an infant what do you mean old! I guess it shows her toxic environment meant she was never allowed to act like a child and is bitter about it.
Tumblr media
Hurts to read this. Clearly, they want to stop Rosa's abuse but don't know how. It's easy to judge them as cowards but realistically what can they do? Yell at Rosa who will then take it out on Maria more?
Tumblr media
Honestly living on that island seems like abuser heaven so at least Jessica's parents aren't the worst, comparatively speaking. She has very limited contact with the outside world and every exit is very tightly controlled.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Setting up the "who gave Maria the umbrella" mystery I see Kanon!
Tumblr media
It's really hard to not read Maria as autistic me, with her taking orders very literally, her word repetition, and her hyper fixation on magic stuff. Just makes the way Rosa blames her for getting bullied and not having friends even more horrific.
Tumblr media
Kumasawa laughing at the prank she helped pull, lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
idk battler It could be the worst day of my life but if I'm getting a 5-star meal I'm mowing that down happily
Tumblr media
It's a bit sad how clearly Battler holds Kyrie in high regard and obviously does kind of consider her family even if he denies it considering that Kyrie fucking hates him
Tumblr media
I am using the Umineko Project version of Umineko, and you know, the console sprites for Umineko are a lot more varied than the 07th mod would led you to believe (not that I am criticizing them, I am sure there were technical reasons as to why they had to be removed) there are some with Eva holding her unfolded fan that I didn't screen earlier too)
Tumblr media
Nanjo going along with the script and getting jumped on by everyone lol
Tumblr media
Wow, way to talk about your child Rosa
Tumblr media
Oh here is the portrait I was talking about earlier, also everyone's tune immediately flip flops about the letter when they realized its beneficial to getting money lmfao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's kinda cute how much Jessica tries to prove she really is the one who hates her parents the most when she probably has the best relationship with her parents out of the cousins
Tumblr media
Yeah yaeh you are so mature and understanding than your cousins George, not like you are the one most willing to cut off your parents when their money or status obsession gets in the way of your goals or anything
Tumblr media
Doesn't work as well for a game where the opponent isn't really trying to win and doesn't always do the most logical moves, does it?
Tumblr media
Kyrie's correct though, if they had simply asked her on her terms who Beatrice is from the start (Something along the lines of who was Beatrice possessing) she probably would have answered!
Tumblr media
Well, it's more like she realized you were the best one to get the information she wanted, but you do love her too much to consider that.
Tumblr media
He's so fucking scared of Kyrie and he should be, to be honest! Though it's partly your fault she's like this.
Tumblr media
This is also probably R07's way of telling you to look at the heart and not just the murder mystery!
Tumblr media
Obviously, Natsuhi doesn't believe this because she knows Kinzo is dead, though I wonder if she thinks this was s will he left to the servants or something?
Tumblr media
i wanna punt this man
Tumblr media
I think Natsuhi and Jessica is probably the only parent/child relationship in the game that probably would heal itself with time... they both understand what is going wrong but aren't sure how to fix it, and I think with Jessica going out of her parent's house soon she probably would have been able to understand her mother more and makeup once they saw each other again... it makes me a bit sad to think about how the tragedy made it impossible for that to happen.
Tumblr media
I'm already crying fuck. They are both extending their hand to the other. They are making steps towards repairing their relationship! And it's all getting destroyed!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder how many times conversations like this happened in reality. Genji trying to convince Yasu to allow themselves to live their life normally but Yasu thinking that they aren't worthy of that, and feeling deeply guilty when they did interact with others...
Tumblr media
I wonder if George has ever really tried to engage with Shannon's own interests, knowledge, and likes, instead of just assuming because she is a servant that everything he tells her is new and exciting to her

The next night Travis finds her at the shoreline.
She's there and she has legs.
Her hair is still damp, but otherwise she's dry and she's tucked into the long grass and brush near the water's edge so as not to fully expose her nakedness.
She looks at him with accusatory blue eyes, "Did you bring clothes?"
Travis nods dumbly and draws out a dress from his pack. It belongs to his mother, so it will be big on her, but better this than nothing.
He holds it out and she takes it before shooting him a look that says he should turn around so she can have privacy. He has absolutely no trouble doing so, his whole face hot and red just from seeing her bare legs.
Even though his back is to her, he speaks, "Is Laura okay?"
"Laura?"
"As a name...can I call you Laura?"
It's quiet for a minute and he can hear the cloth of the dress ruffling before he gets a muffled, "Yeah.. Actually sounds pretty close to my actual name."
Travis grins, pleased at her response. When she gives an 'okay, you can turn around now', it's hard not to laugh, because she's pretty much swimming in the dress he managed to sneak out.
Still, she knows all about swimming and she manages to make it work as she seats herself back on the ground, "Did you bring the shiny thing?"
"The shin-?" Travis starts and then, remembering the slinky he quickly sits across from her with an, "Oh yeah!"
He pulls out the toy and hands it to her. Laura fiddles with it, clearly finding it interesting, which is fitting considering Travis finds her interesting, "So, ah - you have legs?"
Laura nods, but her attention seems fixated on the slinky, which she moves back and forth with an absorbed fascination. Travis clears his throat and she seems to pick up on the nuance of how that means she should continue.
"I do when I'm dry. All our people do."
Travis doesn't even know where to start with that one, but luckily she seems more than happy to continue as she plays with the toy, "Mers are all over the world. We inhabit all types of water. We can only turn our legs into tails in our home waters though."
"Oh! Neato!" Travis returns brightly, because it truly is. Laura just smirks, "Home waters can change too - depending on what you choose when you reach The Embarkment."
"The-?"
"It's a coming of age for us. We go through several of them. The first is after your twentieth wave, then thirtieth and so on."
Travis takes that to mean their ages and nods as if he understands, which he's pretty sure he does. Laura suddenly looks a little sad, even with her dedication to the slinky, which she's currently trying to unravel, "My mother hit her thirtieth recently...she chose to come to shore."
This gets a frown from him, confusion clear on his face, but Laura - while clearly sad - seems to like having someone to confide in, "That's why I was here a few nights ago. I was hoping she might come back."
Laura sits the toy down and looks at him sadly, "I should have known better though. She's made her choice. She'll be here for the next ten waves, then reevaluate. She might continue to choose the land. She might not. Either way..."
There's a slim shrug from her, but Travis is horrified at the implications of her words, "You're saying your mom just left?!?"
A nod and Laura looks at his pack thoughtfully, "Didn't you have other things in there?"
Travis nods and pulls out his other toys, but he feels awful. His parents might not love him, but at least they're around. They didn't just abandon him. Laura must sense his thoughts because she gives a small smile, "Don't worry. My father is still with me. He says the currents were simply too strong for her to ignore. That's all."
While Travis doesn't think that's a legitimate reason for abandoning someone's family, he is glad to hear she's not entirely alone. Especially out there, in the lake, and he looks at it in wonder - how many of her people are down there?
How many mystical and magical things are there in the world? The idea of it makes him feel light, happy - makes him feel as if what he endures at home is worth it. Because wonderful things are out there!
And the first wonderful thing he met is her and he looks at Laura with a lopsided grin, "Well, I'm sorry to hear that. But I'm glad we got to meet one another and become friends."
"Friends?" Laura blinks, "Is that what we are?"
Travis audibly swallows and suddenly feels like a real big dummy, only for her to gives him a huge grin as she reaches out to shove at one of his shoulders, "I'm kidding!"
"Y-you are?"
"Of course! We can be friends!" Laura picks up the eight ball and rolls it around in her hands, "It'll be fun! Not to mention it's good for me to learn about the land - especially if my mother ever returns."
Travis sees the logic in this, but he's more stoked at the idea of having his first ever friend. Especially one so unique and, as if sensing this, Laura suddenly looks at him, her expression very serious, "You can't tell anyone about me though. Not ever. Do you understand?"
...the only way she says it...with such serious gravity...
But Travis does understand and it's not as if he has anyone to tell anyway, so he nods and holds out one hand, "Okay! It's a deal!"
Laura looks at his hand in confusion and he sighs, "You shake it."
Laura takes his hand by the top of his fingers and shakes it. He laughs and gives a little 'Oh no, not like that! Like-?' and he shows her how they should hold one another's hands and shake.
They do so and the moment seems almost electric. Momentous in a way Travis can't describe. But it feels good, too and for the first time in a long time, Travis is happy.
Very happy indeed.

My Older Brother Paul
I didn’t even know I had an older brother until he showed up outside my school that afternoon.
It was two years ago, after school. I was a sophomore, my little sister Paige was a freshman. The original plan that day was hitching a ride to a friend’s house, where we’d probably team up and knock out our homework as quickly as possible.
That plan changed when we exited the building and someone called my name.
“Parker! Hey, Parker!”
My attention was immediately grabbed and I glanced around for anyone familiar. All I saw was a guy in his late twenties, leaning against a fancy car parked on the street. He smiled and waved me over.
“Parker, over here!”
Double checking to make sure there were no more Parkers in the immediate range, I decided to at least meander over. Paige was practically clinging to my backpack as we walked over, she was a little shy and I was expecting any second for this stranger to look away and find that other mystery Parker.
But he didn’t. He lit up and looked right into my eyes as we walked up to him.
“Wow. Parker. You’re gonna get taller than me, aren’t you?”
I frowned and made sure to take a side step in front of Paige, just to put myself between this stranger and my sister. “Can I help you?” I asked.
He looked a bit sad for a moment, before he sighed and nodded. “Yeah, I guess you wouldn’t remember me. You were only two and Paige here,” He stood on tiptoe to look at Paige, “She was just a lil baby.”
I must’ve looked super confused, because Paul reached for his wallet and pulled out a photograph. “I’m Paul. I’m your brother,” He said, handing me the photo.
It was so jarring. There was my mom and dad, I was standing in front of Dad with a big old smile on my little toddler face, Mom was holding Paige, and there was a boy standing between my parents, about thirteen or fourteen years old, with the same blond hair that both me and Paige had and a grin on his freckled face.
I’d never seen this photo before. But it was real and in my face and impossible to deny. I looked back up at Paul, who was back to smiling. His freckles had faded away with age, his teeth were straighter and whiter, but he still had the same goofy smile. And I could just about tell we had the same shape of our eyes, the same ears that stick out just a bit… the resemblance was uncanny.
Paul reached out and clapped his hand on my shoulder. “We have a lot to talk about. Come on, you like McDonald’s?”
Paige cleared her throat. “We should- we should probably just go home, mom and dad-”
“They’re gonna be at work until what, five? Six?” Paul glanced over my shoulder to look at my, well, our apprehensive little sister. “If they’re still the workaholics I remember, they’ll not be home for hours. We’ll only be a bit. I just wanna catch up. I’ll buy?”
I should’ve known better. So should’ve Paige. But even if we did, we still got into the backseat of Paul’s car, and he drove us to the McDonald’s a few blocks away.
Lunch that day had been pretty garbage, so getting a McDonald’s treat was more than welcome. Paige tried to decline, saying she wasn’t that hungry, but he ordered her an Oreo flurry and like magic her appetite came back.
As we sat in a booth, I stopped inhaling my burger for a moment to confront that elephant in the room.
“Why didn’t mom and dad ever tell us about you?”
Paul was not at all surprised by the question, but he answered with one of his own. “You’re a good kid, aren’t you? Always home on time, straight A’s, chores done without a single complaint?”
“I mean, I have a B in algebra-” I stopped myself before I nodded. “I guess so.”
Paul glanced over at Paige. “You too?” He said. Paige also nodded and Paul sighed, nodding with understanding. “Yeah, that’s about right. Nothing wrong with that, but I was a bit more… high maintenance.”
I pushed my fries away and leaned forward to listen. Paige, despite her apprehension, was looking with just as much interest as I was.
“I guess you can say I had issues? I mean, I was fourteen, but I was already getting myself into heaps of trouble.” Paul drummed his fingers on the table. “My grades were awful, got into fights at school, I’d sneak out at night… I mean, once I got out of there, I figured out I wasn’t like most kids. I couldn’t be parented like most kids. But one day Mom and Dad just… sent me away.”
Paige gasped quietly, her eyes going wide. “They sent you away? Where?” She asked.
“Tennessee, friend of dad lived down there. They took a weekend trip and dropped me off at the door with a suitcase and a note.” Paul shrugged. “I don’t blame them, I mean, I was a holy terror. But man, it does sting a bit that they never even mentioned me to you guys. I’m still family… or at least, I thought I was.”
A wave of sadness and disgust washed over me. Sad that I’d never gotten to know about Paul, disgust that our parents just gave up on him like that. Most fourteen year olds go through phases of being difficult, right? It sounded like he just needed some therapy, some freakin’ support, and our parents just made him someone else’s problem and erased him from our lives.
Paige finally lowered her defenses, reaching across the table and resting her hand on his. “I’m sorry, Paul,” She said.
Paul smiled, reaching across the table to ruffle her hair. “Not your fault. Not yours either, Parker. You were just babies, after all. But hey, I’m here now. Let’s make up for lost time. Don’t waste food, but if you want anything else, let me know. And feel free to ask me literally anything you want. I got nothing to hide.”
I didn’t want anything else, but Paige did get an order of chicken nuggets. We munched and got to know our older brother.
After Paul left the house he was dumped at, he had traveled all over the states. He ‘didn’t want to go home without showing he was worth something’, he said. He’s worked all sorts of jobs, waiter, mechanic, janitor, but it was his most recent job as a manager at a small store that he ran into his girlfriend… well, ‘girlfriend’.
“Do you guys know what a sugar mama is?”
Paige nearly choked as Paul handed us his phone, a picture of himself and a woman that was probably in her early sixties. Sure, she was pretty okay looking for her age, but damn, she was without a doubt older than our mother. “That’s Elaine,” He said, pointing at the woman. “Elaine lost her husband a few years before we met, lung cancer. She just wants some company, specifically, she wants cute company.” He poked himself on the cheek. “And I happen to be adorable.”
I couldn’t stop from laughing as I picked up the phone to get a better look. “Dude, our parents would kill you,” I said.
“Listen, in life, you’re up to your ears in debt until you die, you start off rich, or you marry into the good life. I mean, Elaine and I aren’t married,” He laughed at the thought of that, “But I can do whatever I want and she won’t care, long as I’m home every now and then and ready for some… snuggles,” He gave a pointed look at Paige, who scowled at the innuendo, but I just cracked up.
True to his word, Paul did get us home before our parents, but once we all got out of the car he tossed the keys to me.
“Registration’s in the glove box, she’s paid off and only got a few hundred miles on her. You have your driver’s license, right?”
I was too stunned to do anything but nod.
“Then you’re set. Think of it as the present for all the birthdays I missed. See you soon, guys.” With that, Paul just walked off in the direction of the nearest bus stop.
Course, our parents had quite a few questions when they came home and all of them revolved around the car in our driveway that was easily worth over fifty grand.
I just waited for them to get out all their questions at once before I looked at Paige, who crossed her arms and said what they needed to hear.
“Paul came to visit.”
Their faces were enough to confirm once and for all that Paul was our brother. Mom’s face went white and Dad staggered back, falling into his chair to probably avoid fainting.
Mom took a seat on the couch, taking several deep breaths. “He found us?” She asked.
“Found us?” I repeated, that earlier disgust starting to boil up into rage.
“We moved after…” My mom swallowed, “You’re all right? He didn’t hurt you?”
“Hurt us?!” I snapped. “Are you kidding me? Why- why did you never tell us about him!? He’s our brother!”
My dad cleared his throat. “Half brother, actually,” he stared at our mother, who just looked at her hands, “And you need to tell him to take the car back. When he comes back, give him back the damn car.”
I scoffed. “No way. You can’t afford to get me a car, if you want it gone I’ll just sell it and save the money for college,” I said. “Why didn’t you ever mention Paul?”
Mom’s head was bowed in shame. “Paige, Parker, Paul isn’t- Paul’s not right-”
I didn’t want to hear it. I just stormed out of the room, Paige right behind me. We’d heard all we needed to. Our parents abandoned a kid just because he ‘wasn’t good enough’. And Paul was actually not so bad now… least, we thought so, anyway.
Paul showed up again the next day, at school, not at home. This time he took us to his condo, which was just as nice as you’d expect from a man just giving away luxury cars. We had a Skype call with his ‘girlfriend’, and Elaine really was nice, if not a little eccentric.
“If you’re Paul’s family, you’re mine,” She laughed quietly, “So if you need anything, and I mean anything, just call me. I’ll help you however I can.”
After the call, we ordered pizza and just spent the whole afternoon chilling out, playing video games and just getting to know Paul. He was competitive but never a bad winner, just giving tips about how we could improve. He gifted Paige a brand new laptop, perfect for homework and for playing video games. ‘I’ll get you your own car when you get your license,’ He promised, ruffling her hair and then asking if what movie we wanted to watch.
When Paul dropped us off late that night, he didn’t come into the house, but he did wave at our parents waiting at our front porch. My mom just looked ready to die of embarrassment while my dad… I guess he looked so stern to hide any fear he had. We didn’t talk to them, we just went inside to do our homework.
It went like that for a few weeks. Mom and dad would tell us to stop hanging out with Paul, but since he was always outside school at the end of the day, we just hopped in his car and took off for another fun afternoon. Mini golf, arcades, wherever we wanted to go he’d just plug it into his GPS and we’d spend an afternoon having fun. We even spent a whole Saturday at Six Flags, Paul had us take an overpriced picture and put it in an even more overpriced frame as his souvenir. I got a t-shirt, Paige got a stuffed animal that was almost as big as she was.
Meanwhile, our parents were clearly upset, but we barely talked with them. I had resolved that I hated them both for cutting Paul out of our lives and I was going to do the same to them when I turned eighteen. God, the fact they moved after they left him to be someone else’s problem so he couldn’t find them? It pissed me off. Paige too, her theory was that Dad gave up on him so quick because ‘Paul’s not his kid’. It was so tense at home I wanted to spend even more time with Paul, just to escape all that.
One of the final things we did was go out to a movie. By then we were all best friends, Paul, Paige, and I. We had so many expensive gifts, so many fun memories, we weren’t even a little bit afraid of him. We’d all gotten all the snacks we could carry from the concession stand and settled in to our seats when a handful of popcorn smacked into the back of my head.
I turned around and internally groaned to see some unfortunately familiar faces. Paul glanced over to see the popcorn sticking out of my hair. “What the-” More popcorn flew through the air, followed by some pointed snickering and loud whispering.
“Ignore them,” I said, pinching the bridge of my nose, “They’re just some jerks from school.”
Paul’s eyes widened. “You’re getting bullied?” He asked quietly.
“I wouldn’t call it that, especially since Evan is the principal’s son,” I glanced back at the group and glared at the middle one, who only proceeded to laugh and throw more popcorn, “But they mess with me sometimes. It’s fine, they’ll get bored sooner or later.” I’d gotten a thicker skin from this sort of thing, I was already one of the tallest of my class but I was also the quiet guy who didn’t stick up for himself, so I was an easy target.
Paul turned around and I swear it was the first time I saw that carefully placed mask on his face slip. The look in his eyes screamed murder. “Fuck off,” He growled at the group behind us.
Evan mockingly ‘ooh’d’. “Whatcha gonna do about it?” He asked, smirking like he knew he was untouchable.
Paul responded by getting up and starting to walk back the few rows where Evan and his goon squad were sitting. I don’t know what they saw, but I think Evan realized that Paul wasn’t just going to sit and take it like I was. He threw up his hands and repeatedly whispered apologies. Paul stopped at their row and leaned in close to the boys that looked ready to shit themselves.
He whispered something I didn’t hear, and I think Evan did actually piss his pants a little. Paul straightened up, I heard him mutter ‘enjoy the movie’, and then he returned to his seat. Back to being fun big brother Paul, just like that.
At least I wasn’t getting popcorn thrown at my head anymore, so I brushed aside any concerns I had.
That night when Paul dropped us off, he didn’t stick around long. He said he needed to call Elaine, she had left him a voicemail earlier about how much she ‘missed him’, and frankly that’s all I wanted to hear. Ew.
This time, my parents were waiting in the living room, together. They’d been going at it like cats and dogs for a week now, constantly having whispered arguments and I think my mom was sleeping on the couch.
“Your mother has something she wants to say,” Dad said. Mom just stared at her shoes for several painfully long moments before Dad added, “Or I’ll say it, and I won’t be as nice.”
Paige scowled. “What?”
“You need to know the truth about Paul… so please, sit down,” Mom said, her voice barely above a mutter.
I did take a seat across from them, but I probably looked as interested as I did during Algebra. “What?”
Mom looked like a woman defeated. “Like… like your father said, Paul is your half brother, but that’s not the whole story.” She swallowed before she sat up straight and finally told us that whole story.
“I met him at camp. I was a counselor. Your father and I were on a break,” She glared at him, while he just quietly scoffed, “After he’d cheated on me with his tutor at college. So I was bitter. I was alone. I was… empty. But Paul’s father, he was charming? Different, but charming. After camp that year, I realized I was pregnant. Paul’s father, we- we couldn’t be together, so I just went back to your father, and I let him think that Paul was his… until Paul was born, anyway. It was impossible to hide that.”
Dad shuddered. “You gave birth to a monster, Andrea.”
“What the hell is wrong with you!?” Paige blurted out. “Just because he’s not yours-”
“I wasn’t. Being. Metaphorical.” Dad glowered at Mom, who seemed incredibly focused on the wall rather than any of us. “Tell them, Andrea.”
Mom’s eyes welled up. “… Paul… Paul was born a few weeks early, and he came so fast we didn’t even have time to pack up for the hospital. And when he did, he… he wasn’t right. I can’t even describe- it’s something you’d have to see to understand.”
“Paul looks fine to me,” I said.
“Because he wants you to see him like that,” Mom rubbed the back of her neck, “He can do that. Within minutes he looked like every newborn baby boy. I would’ve blamed it all on the pain and hysteria if your dad didn’t see it too. And sometimes, he’d look like… that, again, if it was only me in the room.”
Paige and I probably looked equally confused. “Mom, you’re not making any sense,” She said.
“I know,” Mom nodded before she looked at me. “The scar on your stomach, Parker. Shaped like a triangle. Is it still there?”
I hauled my shirt up to show it off. It had faded over the years, but it was still visible. “From the time I fell?” I said.
“That’s not how you got it.”
Mom shook. For the first time in weeks, I stopped being angry at her and was now genuinely worried. “Paul was- he was mostly like any other child until you two came along. He was a good boy. But he changed. He changed and I was afraid, terrified,to leave him alone with you. The one time I did… oh my god… I can’t, I can’t…” Mom broke down in tears, burying her face in her hands.
Dad finally interjected. “He was acting up beforehand, but your mom was taking a nap in the room over. I came home from work early and I found Paul in your room. You were just laying there, eyes glazed over, and he had his mouth on you.”
I nearly threw up. “What?” I had to have him repeat it.
“I thought he was just being a sicko and ripped him off, but it- Parker, you were bleeding real bad,” Dad shook his head, “You only started crying when his teeth were out of you.
I looked at the scar again. My head was swimming, I couldn’t breathe. “He bit me?” I asked.
“He was trying to eat you.”
When my dad started to shake, it was with pure rage.
“I nearly lost it. He wasn’t even sorry, Parker. He was just mad I interrupted his snack.”
Paige looked so white she looked ready to faint. “That doesn’t look like a bite mark,” She managed to get out.
“He bit him with his real mouth.” My dad managed to get himself back under control after a deep breath. “What you’ve all been seeing, it’s not really Paul. He’s not human, because his father wasn’t. I couldn’t let him be in the house anymore. I began doing research, and I found someone-”
“I thought you shipped him off to a friend,” I interrupted.
“Not exactly.” Dad finally looked a little ashamed. “I found out more about Paul, and what he could be. And I found someone who could handle him, teach him to get his hunger under control. But Paul ran away from there after a few months. We’d already moved, but I didn’t sleep through the night for years because I was afraid he’d be back to finish what he’d started.”
I leaned forward, trying to wrap my head around this. “How is he not human?” I shook my head. “This can’t be real.”
“It is real,” My mom sat back up, wiping away some of her tears, “I never wanted to give Paul up but- he would have killed one or both of you. We didn’t have a choice.”
After the room stopped swimming, I got up.
“I need to be alone.”
I went into my room and laid in bed for hours, just staring at the ceiling. I knew what I had to do, but I had to wait for everyone in the house to be fast asleep. Even Paige. Even if she was a part of this, I had to do this on my own.
My alarm clock read 12:13 when I finally got up. If my parents heard me start the car, they wouldn’t have been out of bed before I was zipping down the road towards Paul’s apartment. I probably broke the speed limit but I didn’t want to wait. If my parents were telling a lie that was that out there, I needed to let Paul know they’d freaking lost their minds.
Paul’s apartment lights were on, and by then I knew where he kept the spare key, so I let myself inside. It was quiet, but I figured he’d just drifted off to sleep on the couch while binging Netflix.
He wasn’t on the couch though. I walked through the apartment, trying to hear him snoring or something.
As I pressed further into the apartment, I didn’t hear snoring.
I heard this wet, squishy sound like someone was wading through knee deep molasses, and it only got louder as I headed for the spare bedroom. He’d used it for storage, he told us, so I never bothered to check it out. The door was cracked just an inch, and despite my better instincts, I pushed it open.
What I saw… god. What I saw. I still can’t believe it, even though it’s been years, I can’t believe it.
I barely recognized the two corpses hanging by their ankles from the ceiling. Both were stripped of their clothes, completely drained of blood and their torsos ripped open, their bodies empty except for some bits of flesh and bones. The third body was still twitching a bit, and still had some color in the face, but it still took a second for me to place him as Evan. I’d never seen Evan so… blank. There was nothing going on behind those empty eyes.
And the thing next to him… I don’t even want to describe it. It was humanoid, but barely so. It had two legs but only one arm, its gut stretched out so far it looked ready to topple over. Its skin was baggy and all mottled blue and green, and its arm was shrunken, curled in towards its body like a claw.
Its head was pressed up against Evan’s gut, teeth set into his skin as it continued to suck blood and whatever else fluids it could get. I saw its sharp tongue stab into his gut and Evan gasped before his eyes rolled back and shut. His body caved in like the monster was draining a capri sun, liquefied guts spilled into the creature’s mouth and some dripping down its chin. It finally pulled off when Evan was hollowed out.
It turned in my direction, his triangular mouth filled with rows and rows of spines that never seemed to end. Its tiny eyes blinked, and so did I… and then there was Paul, standing in front of me, looking entirely normal except for being soaked head to toe in blood.
“Parker?” He said, so softly, sounding so surprised. It jerked me out of my shock.
I slammed the door and ran for it. I barely got to the living room before the back of my shirt was grabbed, sending me flying onto my ass.
“Parker, dammit, wait a second!”
I looked up, expecting to see that thing instead of my brother. But it was Paul, out of breath and looking like a genuine serial killer.
“Christ, you know how hard it is to run just after you’ve had a big meal?”
I thought I was going to die. I wanted to beg for my life, remind him he was my brother, that he didn’t have to hurt me. But I didn’t have to say any of these things.
Paul crouched down next to me, brushing his red stained hand against my cheek. I flinched, something he didn’t miss judging by the hurt in his eyes.
“I wanted to tell you. But then there’s just so much more to explain, and I just… I just didn’t know where to start. I just wanted to say sorry for what I almost did to you as a kid, so I figured, why not give you something? Something to show I didn’t want to hurt you?”
I swallowed, telling my legs to crawl backwards and away from this blood soaked maniac but I couldn’t move. I was frozen. “What are you?” I asked.
“My father’s child. A son of Beleven.” Paul shook his head, tears welling up in the eyes that looked just like mine. “I’m so sorry, Parker. Back then I was so, so hungry, all of the time. And I just couldn’t stop myself, I couldn’t. And those dickwads in there? The world’s better with a few bullies gone from it, and this way, I won’t lash out at someone else. Someone like you and Paige.”
I shook my head. “You killed them…” I glanced to that room, where three classmates were still hanging like meat in a freezer, “You just killed them.”
“I did,” Paul nodded and I think I saw what my father saw so many years ago, that apathy for human life. “I did, and I did it for you.”
I finally ran. I finally got my stupid legs moving and I fled that apartment, and Paul didn’t try to stop me.
When I got home, my parents were waiting for me on the front porch. I hadn’t brought my cellphone, stupid, I know. They thought I’d gotten myself killed.
I just hid in my room. I didn’t tell them that I was sorry. That they were right all along. I didn’t think I needed to.
Since then, my parents have divorced. I stay with Mom most of the time, Paige stays with dad. We don’t see each other except at school or during holidays when we sneak away from our respective guardian. It’s rough, but we get by. I’ve never told her entirely what I saw that night, only that our parents were right all along and that we needed to stay the hell away from Paul. I sold the car, Paige gave away the laptop. One by one, we got rid of his gifts.
Paul’s just… gone. After Evan and two of his friends were reported missing, his apartment was vacated, he left without a word or a goodbye. The bodies were never found. I don’t know if Paul just ate the rest or dumped them somewhere where they can’t be found. I don’t know. The nightmares from that night are neverending though, the images of Evan just hanging there, letting Paul drain the life out of him without a fight flash before my eyes. Needless to say, I’m a bit of an insomniac.
Why has this all come up now?
Well… because I got a welcome letter for a job I never applied for. Alongside the letter is that picture we took at Six Flags, with the words ‘I’m waiting for you’ written on the back. It wasn’t signed, but I have a feeling who applied for me and who’s the one waiting there. So I’ll be accepting the position.
Next summer, it looks like I’m going to be a counselor at Camp Golden Oak.

Can I request a Sickfic! Eleven x reader? I would love to see her totally concerned about our well being, even if it was just a normal allergy.
Thx, you're the best
awwww she’d be so worried, i feel like el would be always at the side of her friends/loved ones because ever since she escaped the lab she’s felt more loved and comforted by the people she surrounds herself with and she wants to make sure they feel the same!
summary: reader is feeling under the weather and el wants to make sure you’re alright constantly and gives you medicine
pairings: el hopper x reader
warnings: none
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“oh god,” you whine, your voice sounds nasally through a stuffed nose and a sore throat. you, el, and will were walking out of lenora high, making your way to argyle’s van because you were going to spend the night with el,
“are you okay?“ el asks, holding the diorama of her father’s cabin, (you still have no idea why they call her el if her name is jane, but she allows you to call her it.)
“yeah i’m fine,” you sniffle, “jus’ allergies.”
“allergies?“ she asks, (you’ve noticed she’s done that a lot with some simple words/phrases. she also talks a little odd, but you don’t press the matter. el is a very nice girl who’s been picked on a lot so you don’t want to seem insensitive by asking why she does this)
“it’s what happens to some people during certain times of the year,” you begin to explain, “you get a stuffy nose, a sore throat, teary eyes. things like that, they aren’t contagious though, so don’t worry!” you smile. the three of you exit lenora high and are stopped halfway through the courtyard by none other than angela,
“hey jane! i just wanted to say your presentation today was uhmmm,” she giggles in her annoying ass voice, “interesting!”
“thank you.” el smiles genuinely, which makes you fill with sadness (which you’re sure is visible), you look over at will who has the same look on his face.
“ahaha! no problem!” angela says reaching over el’s arms and grabbing the figure of what you think is el’s father from the tiny replica, and rolling him in between her fingers, “can i keep this?” she asks, which makes you and will cock a brow but el wears a face of real confusion,
“w-what?”
“can i have this?”
“no. you can’t angela.” you say snatching it out of her hands, and putting it back on el’s diorama. “lets go you guys,” you guys continue walking towards the surfer boys pizza van, when a shout is heard
“you’re a bitch y/n!” angela yells,
“i know!” you yell back in response, which makes will snort,
“don’t put up with her el,” will looks at jane across from you,
“yeah jane, she’s a total bitch.” you say before you go into a coughing fit which makes el stop directly in her tracks while will keeps walking,
“y/n!” she’s immediately by your side, “are you okay?” she rubs your back in circles,
“ye-“ cough. “yeah! i’m alright sorry!” you and her jog to catch up with will who’s right by argyle’s van,
“you alright y/n?” he asks,
“‘m fine, you guys got any medicine at home?” you ask while the three of you get into argyle’s van, johnathan upfront, the three of you in the back,
“probably,” johnathan answers, “mom’s got everything.”
the drive was normal. will, el, and you making conversation every now and then. you and will really hit it off when you started talking about d&d to him when you went over to sit with him at lunch because jane and him seemed lonely, so you properly met el then.
“home sweet home bros!” argyle chants. argyle was a weird dude but you thought he was funny so it didn’t matter,
“y/n come on! i want to show you my room!” el says excitedly grabbing you by your arm, carefully handing will the diorama,
“oh hi y/n!” joyce greets from the kitchen,
“hey ms. byers! i was wondering if you had any allergy meds?”
“i should! yeah, you guys can head upstairs and i’ll bring them to you!”
“okay! thank you ms. byers!”
“no problem sweetie!”
after that, jane is eagerly dragging you up the stairs into her room,
“this is my room!” she says to you beaming, “i have one music record that argyle gave me for my birthday, but i don’t know how to use it,” she hands you the record “eat to the beat” by blondie,
“i have the exact same one!” you smile back at her, “where’s your record player?”
“record player?” she frowns,
“oh my gosh el! i’m definitely getting you a record player soon, and you can have all this cool music and i can come over we can listen to it togeth-“
“i have the medicine sweetheart!” joyce says outside the door, which el opens and you hear her say, “i can give it to her.”
jane makes her way toward her desk placing the medicine on it, “open,” she says, you do so and she pours it in your mouth. you swallow and cringe at the taste,
“that tastes horrible!” you laugh, which makes el giggle.
Chapter 1
After the death of my mom, my dad lost his job and the bank took back our family home. After this the only place we could afford to live was a town called Hawkins in a trailer park.
I tried my best to comfort my dad but the grief was taking a hold of him and I spent a lot of time on my own in a mold ridden, leaky trailer.
Every day my dad would do overtime at the local plant, keeping himself as busy as he could so he was not overcome by darkness. I couldn’t blame him, he had lost the love of his life.
When he wasn’t working he was drowning his sorrows at the local bar.
To keep myself occupied during the summer, I started working at a gas station. It was the dullest thing I had done in my life. I wanted to be outside exploring or just anywhere else to be perfectly honest.
The gas station had its regular customers but they were creatures of habit. Only ever coming in on certain days of the week, otherwise it was like a morgue. So quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Most days I would just be sitting behind the desk, headphones on, listening to old mixtapes on my walkman.
On what I thought was going to be a normal Saturday, the last Saturday before I was due to start my new high school for the start of the school year, a van skidded to a halt. I recognised the van, it was from a few trailers down from mine. The music was so loud, I could see the windows of the van shaking. The ignition was turned off and a guy jumped out. He was tall with long, shaggy dark curly hair. He wore tight skin black jeans, white high top reeboks, a denim jacket and from what I could see a white top with a devil on.
He oozed coolness. I was in awe of him. He looked so confident and so sure of himself. Walking across the forecourt with a slight spring in his step.
Oh shit, did he just catch me staring at him with my mouth open? A smile spread across his face as he entered the store. I quickly made it look like I was yawning and pretended to shuffle some papers around to make myself look busy.
Out of the corner of my eye I watched as he browsed the aisles. Did he keep looking up at me? Nah, couldn’t be, must be my imagination.
He slowly swaggered over to the counter. My palms got really sweaty. I had never felt like this about someone, let alone a stranger.
“Afternoon sweetheart, I’ll take these slim jims and a pack of marlboro reds.” I blushed and turned to the cigarette wall to grab them. I scrunch my face up and told myself to breath and just chill.
When I turned back around, his grin had gotten bigger, his elbows rested on the counter, with his chin on his hand and he was staring with his big brown doe eyes, straight into my soul. We just stood and stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity. “Good music taste” he said finally breaking the silence. My walkman was still playing and the sound was traveling out of my headphones around my neck. “Is that Black Sabbath? The Mob Rules?” he asks.
“Err yeah, you know it?” He laughs, stands up straight and starts singing at the top of his lungs. I start giggling “so you do know it then. My mom used to love them”
“Used to?” He questions.
“Err, yeah, she passed suddenly last year..” I trail off. Way to bring down a mood.
He looks at me with compassion but also like he had been through similar sadness. “Fucking great taste in music she had then. Obviously you take after her.”
I read his shirt - Hellfire. “So Hellfire, is that you band?”
“Oh no sweetcheeks, I’m the dungeon master in the Hellfire Club. We are the official D&D club at Hawkins High. My band is called Corroded Coffins. We play every Tuesday at The Hideout. You should come along sometime.” His grin gets even bigger, I could tell he had a passion for his band.
He winked, placed his money on the counter and turned to leave. “I’m Eddie by the way. Its been a pleasure.” He gave a slight bow as he made his exit.
I shout after him, “Yeah, see you around”.
I watch as he gets into his van, start up the engine and winds down the window. He fiddles around with his stereo. All of a sudden a wave of music can be heard. Black Sabbath. I start to laugh to myself. Eddie hangs out of the window singing his heart out again, looks at me, winks and drives off.
From that moment, I knew I was in trouble. I had a massive crush on a boy I had only just met. Were we ever going to see each other again?
The King of the Hellfire Club: Chapter 6
Tumblr media
Your dad promised this was the last move until after you graduate. You see Eddie Munson outside Nancy's house shortly after your arrival in Hawkins. Everyone tells you to stay away but you're sure there's more to him than he lets on. Now it's the day before spring break and you just have to work up the nerve to actually talk to him before you lose your chance.
You fall asleep in Eddie’s arms. His metal mixtape playing to no one. Sometime in the night it clicks off as the two of you continue to lay entangled in one another. Eddie wakes when he hears a dog bark from outside. He rubs the sleep from his eyes and looks at the time. 6:00 am. He watches your chest rise and fall gently as you continue to sleep. He pulls the blanket up over your shoulders and grabs a joint. He opens the small window that faces the forest and smokes. Not long after, he hears you become restless. He presses the joint out.
“You didn’t have to stop you know,” your sleepy words seem to be for the pillow rather than him.
“Sorry sweetheart, I didn’t mean to wake you. It’s still early, go back to sleep.”
“Mmm can’t,” you sit up and stretch out your arms over your head, “Is everything ok?”
“I’ve never felt better,” he rejoins you on the bed, “I honestly just keep waiting for myself to wake up. Guys like me never get the girl ya know.”
You frown with a yawn, “Eddie, listen to me. I know last night you said no mentioning previous partners but I think you need to hear this. I had a boyfriend back in California and before you ask, I ended things with him well before moving here. He was a football player. I’m sure you know the type.” He made a face but let you continue, “I used to do nothing but sit on the bench at his practices reading stories of yearning and longing. An unparalleled passion that he could never give me. He was selfish. The moment I started talking about things I enjoyed he acted disinterested and changed the subject back to himself. Guys like that don’t deserve the girl.”
His smile was still sad, “Yeah but you deserve better than the local loser drug dealer too. You’re so smart and me? It’s taken me three years to finish a senior year that's only supposed to take one.”
You tilt his chin towards you so he can’t avoid eye contact. You smile at him, eyes bright and kiss his cheek, “This is going to be your year Eddie! I can feel it. ‘86 baby! We will walk that stage together and both flip Principal Higgins the bird!”
His arms wrapped around you so tightly your back cracked. You kissed him again. More and more, “Careful sweetheart, I still have you trapped here in my bed remember?”
“I have condoms if we need more.”
Eddie collapsed in uncontrolled laughter holding his stomach. His laugh melted your heart. He nuzzled into your neck, leaving love bites everywhere he went, “As much as I’d love to keep you locked away all to myself you should let your parents know that I didn’t murder you in the woods…” he voice trailed off.
“My mom knew I wasn’t coming home last night. No it’s Robin you need to worry about. She’ll kill me if I don’t call her again.”
“Your friends don’t trust me do they? That’s fair, I wouldn’t trust me either.”
“They just don’t know you. Robin is a good friend. My friends are supposed to push your buttons. Gotta make sure you’re treating me right.”
Eddie twisted a lock of your hair in his fingers, “You’re so beautiful.”
You blushed, “Eddie! Give a girl some warning.”
He put a hand on your still bare shoulder, “Sorry. But I mean it, beautiful.”
You jump as you hear someone enter the trailer. Eddie whispers, “That’s my uncle. Would you wanna meet him?”
You nod. “I should probably get dressed first,” addressing your current state.
“Damn right, no one gets to see you undone like this except me. I’ll go announce your arrival, my queen. Get dressed.”
Eddie leaves the room and you hear talking on the other side of the door. You don’t really want to leave Eddie’s bed. It’s warm. Before getting up you take a minute to savor the moment, rubbing your legs on his sheets. Smelling his lingering woodsy musk. You get up eventually and blush as you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror behind his guitar. He wasn’t kidding about leaving his mark. Some parts of you felt sore but the ache only helped solidify the memory of last night. You finished getting dressed and peeked out the door to see if it was ok for you to come out.
Wayne Munson, Eddie’s uncle, stood in the small kitchen with a coffee, he took a sip and eyed you as you stepped in to join them, “Good morning young lady. I hear you went out with my nephew last night.” He spoke as if keeping you at a distance.
“Yes sir. Eddie’s quite the gentleman. He took me to a movie and then we came back here so he could show me some of the music he likes. We had a really nice time.” You spoke intentionally and politely trying to make a good first impression.
He sipped his coffee again, looked at Eddie and then back to you, “Yeah Eddie’s a good kid. I’m sure you won’t do anything to hurt him,” he finishes his coffee and says to Eddie, “I’m gonna get some sleep, kid.” He walks into the room next to Eddie’s and closes the door. You are left feeling a little confused. Had you said the wrong thing?
“Come here. I can see those circuits overloading, don’t worry. It’s nothing against you, really.” Eddie pulled you against him as he leaned on the counter, “He’s just protective is all.”
You nod, wiping your eyes with another yawn, ”I guess I can sympathize. I’d be protective of you too.”
“Go get your stuff, let’s get out of here. Let the grumpy old man sleep.”
Eddie’s careful to close the trailer door quietly. It’s a cool morning out. A slight fog held along the ground, “Here desert girl,” He put his jacket around your shoulders and his voice cracked watching you put your arms through the sleeves, flipping your hair out from beneath the leather where it landed flawlessly on your back, “Fuck. I could look at you all day.”
He opened the passenger door of his van for you, “Where are we going?” you ask.
“Anywhere you want my queen.”
“Like you said, I should probably tell my parents I’m not dead. Would you be so kind as to return me home my king?”
With a flourish of his arm across his chest, he bowed his head. His hair brushes against you he flicks his head back up, “It’d be my pleasure.”
Eddie was quiet the whole drive. You noticed the lights in your house were still off when the van pulled up out front. He turned the key and looked at you, eyes glazed over, “I had a really great time last night. Don’t forget about me, ok?” he spoke before turning his head to the window.
“What are you talking about Eddie?”
He continued to look out the window, “I get it. This is the part where the magic spell has ended.”
Your chest tightened, heart aching “I’m confused. Did you think I didn’t mean what I said last night when I told you I liked you? Everything I said last night was true Eddie. Every last word. I really like you and I…I want to keep seeing you. Not just as a one night stand…unless that’s all you wanted.”
“No!” He yelled turning back to you, “I would follow you into Mordor and back again! It’s just - ” he held his head in his hands with a loud groan.
“Just what Eddie?” you yelled, tears forming in the corner of your eyes.
“This is what I’m good for. This is my part to play! People come to me for their fix and then pretend we’ve never spoken. My purpose is fulfilled when the sun rises,” He pauses, “Do you remember right after you moved here; the cops showed up at school, when Jason and I got into a fight?”
You nodded. Eyes still burning, chest still tight.
“Well he told everyone that it was because I tried to sell Chrissy drugs but that wasn’t it. It started very similar to when you approached me. Except she actually did want to buy drugs. She was dealing with a lot at home and wanted something stronger than weed. I was happy to help her out but I don’t keep that shit on me, it stays at home. Anyways, I brought her back to my place and we ended up sleeping together. It just sorta happened. She said her and Jason were finished but then the next day at school I saw them making out in the hallway. I wanted to talk to her but Jason saw me asking her to meet me after school and punched me. I don’t blame Chrissy, I just wanted to know that she was going to be ok.” His leg was shaking as he looked anywhere but at you.
“Eddie,” you reached your hand out to touch his thigh. He didn’t stop you. You rubbed softly trying to soothe him, “Do you um- do you have feelings for Chrissy?”
He whipped his head around and grabbed your hand, “Of course not! She was a sweet girl who had a shitty home life, that’s all we had in common.”
You took a deep breath, brows furrowed, “Is it so hard for you to believe that I want you? What Chrissy did wasn’t right. Is it so hard for you to trust that my feelings for you won’t fade when we return to school? I want to sit with you and hellfire at lunch, I want to help you study for that final in Ms. O’Donnell’s class but then end up making out instead! I want to kiss you and make Dustin tell us to stop being gross. I want us to make every other person in that school jealous because my boyfriend is hotter than theirs! What do I have to do to make you believe me?”
His eyes scrunched closed, “It’s not you…”
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence Eddie Munson! I’ve had the best two days of my life and now I feel like my soul might leave my body,” your tears spilled onto your cheeks, dripping down your chin.
He reached out to wipe your face with the side of his hand, “I’m so sorry. I really am. I’m a colossal ass for assuming you’d do the same thing. A king should never make his queen cry.”
You sniffled, wiping your cheek again, “Answer me one question Eddie and you better answer honestly.”
“Anything.”
“Do you want to be with me?”
He looked at you with tender eyes. He cupped the side of your cheek, caressing it softly with his thumb, “I’ve wanted you since the first day I saw you. I would watch you take your lunch outside in the fall when the weather was nice. You always had one hand free to hold your book. Sometimes I would go to class just on the off chance I saw you in the hallway. On those days you made it easier for me to make it through the day. The smile on your face when one of your friends made you laugh. I wanted to be the reason for your smile. I still do. Can you ever forgive me?”
His words soothed the ache in your chest, “After you do one more thing for me.”
“Whatever your heart desires.”
“Ask me to be your girlfriend. Not here though. Somewhere public I can prove to you that I don’t just want you behind closed doors,” you thought for a moment, “Tonight. Meet me at Rink-o-Mania at 6. Trust me,” you kissed his cheek and handed him back his jacket, “Thank you for the ride home.” You hopped out of the van and Eddie watched you disappear into your house.
This is not how you envisioned this morning going. You wanted to invite Eddie in to spend time with your family but while you were upset at Eddie for assuming you’d leave him, you wanted to help show him that he was deserving of love. Mom and dad approved of your plan. Dad wasn’t too happy he made you cry but you assured him that deep down Eddie is a good man. He’s just got some insecurities to work out. No one is perfect and hey this way you get to tell all your friends and his at once. You called Robin and told her to bring Vickie. You called Steve and Dustin. You told Dustin to call Lucas, Erica, Gareth, and Jeff. Instructing them all to meet you at Rink-O-Mania just before 6. You tried to call Nancy but was informed by her mom that she and Mike had ended up going to California for break to visit her boyfriend Jonathan, his brother Will and Mike's girlfriend El.
Everyone sounded excited, Dustin said it would be a Bitchin’ way to start spring break. You told them all the details but made one thing clear. Don’t tell Eddie.
You arrived early and parked your car. You hopped up on the trunk, put your headphones on and waited. Slowly but surely everyone showed. Eddie’s friends Jeff and Gareth arrived first.
“Hey healer! Where’s Eddie? Dustin made it LOUDLY clear we weren’t supposed to say anything to him.”
“Hey guys, he’ll be here a little later. Could you guys go inside and get us a big table?”
They nod and head inside.
Just as the next song finished you saw Steve’s caravan service show up. Dustin, Lucas, and Erica were in the back seat. Robin had Vickie on her lap in the passenger seat. Pretty sure that’s not legal , you thought to yourself putting your headset away.
“Ok girl what the hell?” Robin demanded marching over to you, “You were being super weird on the phone but since you didn’t sound upset I figured everything had gone well with Munson, but now I don’t see him? What happened? Did he reject you? Do I need to have words with him?
You shook your head with a quiet laugh, “No Robin, but he did do something pretty stupid.” Everyone’s eyes and ears perked up.
Dustin spoke up, “Is he not coming? I swear I didn’t tell him anything!”
“I told you guys to be here earlier than I told him, Here’s what I need from you. Gareth and Jeff are already inside. Go sit down and just sorta stay hidden until I say so. I’m sure you’ll figure out what it is when you see it.”
“Jeez! What the hell did this guy do?” Steve asked
“In his own words,” you explained, “he was a ‘colossal ass’”
“I’m going to meet him in the parking lot and then we will meet you guys inside. He dosen’t know any of you are coming. He thinks it’s just the two of us.”
“Whatever you need girl!” They all headed inside. The roller rink was pretty busy considering the school holiday. Perfect timing , Eddie’s van pulled up. He parked next to you and joined you behind your car.
“Hello sweetheart,” he took your hand in his. You pulled him closer, “Whoa! I missed you too.” He reached a hand up and played with your hair, “I’m sorry again. I can’t believe I said those things. Guess I’m more of a sentimental stoner than I thought.” He laughed swaying back and forth with you in his arms.
You shook your head, “No I’m glad you did. Now we can address this together. You remember what I asked for?”
He buried his face in your hair, kissing your neck on any surface he could reach, “Haven’t stopped thinking about it.”
“Good,” you wove your fingers together as you walked into the Rink-o-Mania hand in hand.
Energetic pop music played over the speakers. Couples, singles, and everything in between crowded the aisles. Everywhere was packed. You panicked for a second, unable to locate the group. You and Eddie had to wait to rent skates giving you a chance to look around. Bingo! Over in the far corner you spotted Dustin’s bright white shirt glowing in the blacklight. Making sure to find a spot away from them, you both changed into your skates.
“Let’s go!” You started towards the rink without him.
He gripped your shirt pulling you back, steading himself, “I may need your help my fair maiden. It may come as a shock to you but Eddie the Banished hasn’t actually done this before.”
You grin and take him tightly by the hand, “I’ll protect you my king.”
Eddie moved like a small child navigating wooden floors in socks. It was absolutely precious. You’d almost made a full rotation around the circle when you found the perfect spot. Keeping an eye on Dustin’s white shirt you led Eddie out one of the exit gates and positioned yourself within their sight lines.
“Phew! Thanks for letting me off the ride sweetheart. All I could think about was how the hell I was supposed to do this on the rink.”
He stood up from his seat, still a bit unsteady on the skates. He clutched his chest with one hand as he began shouting at the top of his lungs, “My dear queen of hellfire! My absolute divine goddess gracing this unworthy earth with your beauty and grace,” It didn’t take long for a crowd to build. He offered you his hand before falling to one knee. What the hell Eddie?! ”Will you accept this gift and sit beside me as my girlfriend?” Your heart swelled with joy as you opened his hand revealing his guitar pick necklace.
“Yes Eddie! Of course I will,” you helped him to both feet before he pulled you into a loving embrace. Kissing like you were the only other person in the room. His hands wrapped up in your hair, holding it back as you put the necklace on.
“Eddie you son of a bitch!” Dustin ran at him at top speeds
“Henderson? Oof -” Dustin crashed into him knocking him to the floor, “What the hell are you doing here man?” He looked up to see a mountain of familiar faces.
“Your queen here invited all of us,” Steve explained, “She was very persistent that you did not know. Said something about you needing a reminder not to be a…what was it?”
“A colossal ass,” Dustin finished, “Whatever you did I’m sure that made up for it. We all thought you were about to propose marriage!”
Eddie laughed, “Yeah I did need a reminder. One can only hope that our just and noble queen of hellfire can forgive me.”
“Eddie the Banished, you have done well! You’ve completed your quest and won my favor.” You helped him up off the floor, laughing as he tried to kiss you again, “Do you believe me now?” you smirked, “I told you Eddie. I want you…everywhere. Not just in the dark,” you held the guitar pick in between your thumbs and kissed it.
You stayed at the rink until they closed. By the end of the evening you nearly had the rink to yourselves, which was helpful because despite your teachings, Eddie still wasn’t king of the roller rink. Watching Eddie have fun with his friends made your heart feel so full it nearly burst with excitement. The hellfire kids all spent the night teasing Eddie about his low dexterity score on roller skates. Erica and Dustin each grabbed a hand and pulled him around as he screamed for them to slow down! You skated contentedly behind them watching. You're pretty sure Robin and Vickie were making out in the bathroom somewhere. And Steve? Poor Steve…always the goddamn baby sitter.
