Make You Mine

Summary - Neville Longbottom is head over heels... some may even say embarrassingly so.

Neville Longbottom x Fem!Ravenclaw!OC (?) This is a shifting story so the “OC” is myself, I do not know if that counts… (Is readable as GN!Reader from any house, however!)

Category - Fluffy as heck!

TW - One mention of Umbridge just existing because she deserves her own warning, written a long time ago (edited recently) so… possibly terrible writing

I just managed to sneak away from Umbridge, thanks to the twins. Honestly, I do not know what I would do without them most of the time.

Having just caught a break, I decided to go give a surprise visit to my one and only sunshine. Obviously, I knew exactly where to find him.

As I took my stroll to the greenhouses, I looked around the path, admiring the nature. Hogwarts had such an overlooked beauty. I could not believe how ignorant most people could be, I did not care what you told me, being at Hogwarts was a privilege. I could not understand why some would risk getting pitched out.

If only to remind me of things I should be grateful for, I arrived at the glass door to one of the castle greenhouses only shortly thereafter. Within, I saw my sole source of happiness, bent over a pot on the long wood table inside.

I opened the door and was about to make my presence known when I stopped myself, taking in the scene around me. When I had thought that Neville was simply working on his plants in the comfort of his own silence, I was very clearly mistaken.

Somewhat loud music was playing from no particular, identifiable source, its tone wrapping the room up in a bright and warm aura. Magic, I thought, isn't it beautiful?

The true beauty, though, was coming from the boy standing a little bit in front of me. The boy who still hadn't noticed my being here. I couldn't blame him, necessarily. The music was quite overbearing, not really in a bad way but I was rather quiet in comparison.

I recognized the tune to be from his personal herbology playlist. He was very proud of it but he never let me listen to it. Typically, he noticed when I came in or was expecting me so it was switched off at the moment of my arrival. I had never really known why that was but it was then that I started to pick up on it.

As a new song came on, Neville started humming along to himself. Or, at least he thought he was by himself.

I leaned against a sink near the door with my bag still slung over my shoulder as I watched him and a small grin tugged at my lips.

When the song picked up, he really started to get into it, singing the words and moving around a bit as he went on.

As time progressed, he started twirling and dancing around the room, his head matching his excitement as it bobbed to the music.

I really had to hold my breath so as not to laugh at his passion when he sang into his wand, or makeshift microphone in this case.

"Put your hand in mine, you know that I want to be with you all the time." He sang out. I really couldn't help thinking that he wasn't half bad. Was that just me simping? Perhaps.

My smile only grew as he continued on with, "You know that I won't stop until I make you mine. You know that I won't stop until I make you mine. Until I make you mine."

He was still spinning around and singing, "Put your hand in mine. You know that I want to be with you all the time. Oh, darlin', darlin', baby, you're so very fine." I had started to pick up on why he wouldn't let me listen to this playlist and why he only seemed to listen to it when he was alone in this very greenhouse. It had never crossed my mind that the songs reminded him of me, much less that he got so excited about the thought of me.

I was grinning and most definitely blushing profusely as the song began to wrap up.

Neville really got into it at the very end. He did a pose, still with wand in hand, his fist balled around the handle, the tip pointed towards his mouth, when the music dimmed and slowed down gradually.

"You know that I won't stop until I make you mine." Neville began to finish up, "Until I make you-" he jumped just about six feet in the air as he cut himself off. He had just turned and saw me watching him. In an instant, he had flicked his wand in the air and the room went silent.

"How... uh, how long were you there, Sunflower?" He tripped and fell all over his words.

With a sly smirk on my face, I simply stated, "Long enough."

He turned a deep crimson as he started fiddling with his wand and fingers. It was clear that he didn't want to know when he mumbled, "Meaning?"

"Meaning," I chuckled breathily, "I think you're only more adorable than before." I scratched the side of my head with my wand tip, throwing a convincing look of confusion into my eyes, "Which I didn't really think was possible."

He smiled lightly as he looked at the floor.

I took a few steps closer to the table and dropped my book bag on the surface. As I walked down the significant length of the table towards him, his feet shuffled in embarrassment.

"What? Are you embarrassed, Sunshine?"

He only blushed in response, his eyes now on my shoes which wasn't saying much considering how much shorter I was than him, he might as well just have looked at my face.

I put my dainty pointer finger under his chin and pulled it up so as to allow him a look at my eyes.

"You never told me that you spend so much time thinking about me in here."

He blushed again. I loved how I knew just the way to get him flustered.

"I like that," I added proceeding to go on my tiptoes to try and plant a kiss on the very tip of his nose. I pouted when I came over a foot short. He chuckled a bit.

When I tried again, I made sure not to fail. I grabbed his tie, which had been tucked into his matching uniform vest and slid out effortlessly as I tugged on it, which only gave me more hold on it. I dragged his face towards mine, him not resisting at all, and when he was stooped so far that I could reach while on my very top tiptoes, I landed the kiss. He laughed out loud this time.

"What? I don't give up! You know that."

"Oh, yes. I do. And you know I won't stop until I make you mine."

I chuckled at his little reference to the song he had been rocking with.

"Well, I think you've already got that."

“Have you ever wished upon shooting stars?”

“What?”

“Shooting stars. Have you ever looked at them and put all your faith and trust in one? Have you ever whispered your heart’s deepest desire to it? Wishing and dreaming with every fiber of your being that your one true desire- one true wish would come true?” The weather was warm and the sky was clear. It seemed as if the stars were shining their brightest for the girl that sat gazing up at them millions and millions of miles away.

Yet they still saw her- still felt her spirit reaching out and acknowledging each and every one of them. She spared them one last glance before propping her head on her arm and turning sideways to face the person who decided to accompany her on one of her many midnight star gazes- or as she liked to say- mingling with the stars.

“You know Neville, I tell them about you-the stars I mean.” The way that she looked at him, and he her, one would think that their love was the purest to have ever graced this planet.

“Do you now? And what, may I ask, do you tell them?” His eyes glimmered and a smile grew on his lips as she began to speak.

“Everything, Neville Longbottom, absolutely everything. I tell them about how your nose is the first part of your face that turns red when you blush. I tell them about how wrinkles form at the sides of your eyes when you smile. About how after herbology you always have this spark in your eyes. About how soft your hair is in the morning. About how your favorite sweets are chocolate frogs and how you collect the cards. About how you play with the hem of your sweater when you’re nervous. About how you make my heart skip everytime you look into my eyes” She looked down as she whispered the last bit of her rant “and about how much I love you.”

Her eyelids were half closed and there were bags under her eyes. Her hair was filled with twigs and leaves. But Neville didn’t care, in fact, he adored every little thing about her as well. However, the Gryffindor boy wasn’t able to get any of the words out of her mouth. With his face as red as a cherry, he slowly brought his face mere inches away from hers. And in the softest, most enthralled voice he muttered, “(Y/N) (L/N) , you are my shooting star.” With that, he closed the space between them, into the sweetest kiss that either of them had ever felt.

It seemed at that moment that the shooting stars had sprinkled some of their dust upon the two lovers, for both of their wildest wishes had just come true.

Quidditch Captain

Summary - Olly, an OC, is the youngest house quidditch captain in recorded history. When they are facing Oliver Wood head on in the Quidditch Final, they need some reassurance from their favorite person.

Neville Longbottom x Fem!Ravenclaw!OC (?) This is a shifting story so the “OC” is myself, I do not know if that counts…

I flew my brand-new Airwave Gold down to the ground of the pitch and landed gracefully before I ran at full speed towards the middle of the pitch where Neville was standing, waiting for me, so I could hug him hard. He spun in two circles from the small weight that hit him at a high speed, allowing me to lift up my legs as he picked me up.

He put me down after a moment and placed his forehead against mine.

"Well, hello there, Sunflower," he mumbled with a wide grin.

"Hello there, Sunshine," I giggled.

My team had flown down and walked hesitantly toward us.

My oldest chaser, Roger Davies, cleared his throat awkwardly.

I turned the mass of them, not realizing I had forgotten to dismiss them.

"Hey, Cap," My first beater, Duncan Inglebee, started, seeming nervous, "Whatcha doing?"

My close friend Cho Chang, our seeker, laughed merrily as she came to my side, "Oh, please, Duncan. You act as though this is not a regular occurrence. This should not be as awkward as you lot make it if it has been happening at the end of every practice for four years."

Inglebee's fellow beater, Jason Samuels, hit him in the arm as they broke out into laughter. Jeremy Stretton came down too, laughing as he had been watching the spectacle from above.

"Oh, you finally got that Quaffle back, Jer?" I chuckled as he came down five minutes after everyone else had, along with myself.

"Look, Jewel, you have a strong kick. I spent the past ten minutes trying to get that Quaffle out of the tree, twenty meters off the pitch. Try not to behead one of your teammates in the process of defending a hoop again, eh?"

We all laughed before Neville spoke up, his hand entwined with mine at my side.

"You act as though she didn't headbutt it all the way to Hagrid's cabin last time," he looked down at me with a mischievous grin, "or hit it against her chest so hard that she almost fell off her broom and was grasping for air but grinning because she had kept it out of the hoop. You have a strong arm, Randolph," he added, turning to the last member of my team, Randolph Burrow, a chaser, "oh, and no one can forget that time she dived under the snitch so Cho could fly through the hoop and they wouldn't collide just to swerve back in time to smack it with her hand. That was over a month ago and her palm is still red.

I turned to him and put my long, thin pointer finger over his lips, "Hush you."

He laughed loudly against my finger, restraining him front opening his mouth. This only caused my three chasers to double over and laugh, making me practically cackle and burrow my head against Neville's chest. With no hesitation, he hugged me close.

After a moment, I turned back to see the five boys hopping on the edge of their toes like children outside the shop window of Honeyduke's, their eyes darted between the golden broom at their feet and my face.

I looked at them innocently until Cho ran to them and practically begged, "Oh, come on, Olly, it just came out two weeks ago!"

"Yeah," Roger pitched in, "just one loop around the pitch? Please!"

"Alright, alright! Mind you, if any of you fly off course and hit it into the stands, I will make sure you end up like the Quaffle. Who knows, you might just fly all the way to the Black Lake. I cannot imagine the squid would be too happy if one of you landed in on it's head. I am looking at you, Burrow."

Randolph put a hand against his chest and gasped in offense.

"Hey-!"

"I do not want to find the need for a new set of trials two weeks into the year but if I really have to, I will."

He groaned loudly, knowing that these are empty threats but not being able to imagine I would do much less if I heard the land and crunch of misshapen metal after a collision.

I turned back to look Neville in the eye as I heard a clamor to get to my broom first.

I suddenly turned my head before pointing at the group to stop them.

"Cho goes first."

Loud protests sounded out.

"Why?" Davies groaned, sounding like a toddler who was just denied the purchase of his favorite new toy at a store.

"Huh, let's see-"

"You're just favoring her because she's your favorite!" Jason Samuels pitched in.

I felt Neville's demeanor go taught and his hands balled tightly. I gave him a look and placed my free hand against his forearm lightly before we heard Stretton complain.

"Yeah, you just want her to try first because she's your friend!"

Neville scowled.

"She is but that is most definitely not why. You lot should know I don't play favorites."

Davies scowled and rolled his eyes.

"Hey, guess what? You can go last now, Roger. If I played favorites, I would have just as likely put Luna on a broom and you on the stands. You play quidditch well, you're on the team. I do not favor anyone for anything. Cho's going first because you all pushed her over twice to get to my broom. Ingles can go second because he was the only one with the basic decency to help her up both times, knowing that he would just as likely be last thanks to it."

Duncan grinned gratefully as I gave him a nod.

Cho strutted up and stuck her tongue out at Roger who looked like he was having a very tough mental struggle to not snatch the broom out of her hands.

I watched until she kicked off then turned back to Neville, knowing it was my duty as Captain to make sure the boys didn't rip the best seeker in the school, next to Harry, of course, that much is undeniable, to pieces. Goodness knew we need her in the games that were coming up.

I spoke as though there was no interruption, "Hello there, Sunshine."

He grinned as he looked way down at me.

"Hi, Sunflower."

"Let's give them some time to fly around and have their fun and then we can hang out by ourselves, yeah?"

He nodded eagerly before he grabbed my hand and led me to the bench on one side of the pitch, the bench that is normally occupied by the injured or benched.

"Nope, nope, nope!" I pulled him into a hard right, towards the spectator stands.

Neville looked around nervously, "Uh- Um... what did I do?"

"Oh, you didn't do anything wrong, Sunshine. We are just superstitious about the bench, especially so close to... well, y'know..." I trailed off.

"The Cup Match?" He offered up.

"I said that you know!" I snapped slightly and he put his hands in the air in defense.

I groaned and grabbed his large hands in my small ones, placing them lightly in my lap.

"I am sorry, Sunshine."

"It's alright, Sunflower, you're under a lot of pressure."

"We're- not going to talk about this."

"Alright..." he agreed, extremely hesitantly as he watched my leg bob up and down and I bounced my toe, my eyes scanning around the pitch to see my team flying around, Duncan now taking his turn, the chasers passing around the Quaffle amongst themselves on their own brooms.

Just about fourty-five minutes later, everyone had taken their turn on my broom. Jason had taken my broom from Roger's arms, demanding he be the last to touch it before it was returned.

His eyes danced over it like it was solid gold, which, I realize, it actually was.

"Having fun there, Samuels?"

I crossed my arms and tapped my foot impatiently. He took only a few steps to cover the large distance between us and stepped in front of me. His head was far above mine so that when I looked up, he clearly was trying to look superior.

Despite the fact that I was very likely a head and a half shorter than him at the very least, he looked startled at the fiery look I gave him. He knew it all too well as he and Davies tended to cause the most trouble, used to getting out of it due to their age, size, and Godric knows what else, but that definitely was not the case with me. The fact that I was much younger and half their size and weight meant nothing when it came to my tolerance of their nonsense.

He looked terrified when he met my eyes, dropped his gaze immediately, and placed the broom into my waiting arms.

"Thank you," I responded snippily.

You would expect his mates to give him grief for his horror of my temper when it was shortened but they knew damn well that they had gone through it before and it was not fun.

"Now go change and get out," I pointed my right finger in the direction of the door to our locker room, "I want nothing to do with you lot for the rest of the day. It is," I slipped a slim finger under the edge of my sweater's arm on my wrist and pulled softly, all in one graceful movement to check the time, "bloody hell... It is 10:37 in the morning and I am already tired of you."

The boys looked at me with their mouthes hanging open. They were used to me get pissy with them, that was absolutely nothing new, but they had never seen me with such a short allowance for them.

I raised my voice, "Did you hear me or am I speaking Gobbledegook?"

Duncan raised his hand softly, "Um... no, you aren't."

"Thank you, Captain Obvious! We have random conversations in the common all the time to confuse people. We know that you can speak it! Now, get out!"

Ingles gave me a sad look and I immediately felt bad for freaking out at him. Duncan was probably the nicest on the team, rivaling with Cho. I needed to remember to apologize later.

I should not be losing it with them so much lately. I was starting to sound like Oliver Wood and you could hear him yelling at the twins at Gryffindor practices from the Entrance Hall.

Once they all left, some looking back at me with sad eyes, I turned on my heel and immediately sat crosslegged where I had been standing on the pitch before I buried my head in my hands.

Neville let himself sit down in front of me and, after a moment, he softly wrapped his hands around my wrists and pulled so that he could look at me.

"You're a little scary sometimes. You know that, right, Sunflower? Don't get me wrong, you're brilliant! You definitely get the job done but you can be... scary," He finished lamely.

I looked at him with sad, puppy dog eyes.

"Talk to me. Please?"

With a huff of air, I turned around and laid back, placing my head in his lap, my body laid out in a straight line in front of him.

I looked into his honest and loving eyes, knowing that he actually wanted to know what was going on and help. No benefit to him, only that he would see me a bit happier which was more than enough for him.

"It's just that... well, it's like you said. The Cup Game. It is so stressful. Roger wanted to be captain this year but Flitwick insisted I do it and I know that Davies should have just gotten it. He's older and he has more control and he knows what he's doing and-"

Neville has placed a small peck on my lips while I spoke, cutting me off and leaving me with a grin as he pulled away.

After a moment of looking into each other's eyes, he said, "Go on. As I remember it, you were saying something that was entirely untrue."

I giggled but did as he advised, "It is true, thou-"

Another kiss.

"It's Ravenclaw against Gryffindor. In the final. I am only in fourth year and Oliver knows what he's doing and I just don't have a clu-"

A peck was placed softly on my lips once more.

With a grin, I kept going, "I am just tired and I want to get a hug. I want to win just so I can be impressive and-"

Neville chuckled lightly, making my head move up and down as he laughed.

"Now I know what you are doing."

I giggled and brought my head up slightly as my stomach heaved with the string of laughter.

"Okay, fine. You caught me on that last part... but the ones from before were true."

He brought his head down so it was hovering over mine.

"Sunflower, you are going to do great, truly."

"You just have to say that because you love me."

I rolled my eyes and he laughed again.

"Well, yes, but I also mean it."

"I don't know, Sunshine-"

He brought his lips down only slightly, breaking the small distance that there was and placed a light kiss on my forehead, this one lasting a bit longer. I returned the gesture, made easier by the position we sat in.

"Oh, before I say this, if Harry somehow finds out, I will know who told him, as well as, if anyone asks if I said this, I will deny it because Oliver would kill me," I cut him off quickly with a giggle and said, "We could never have that."

"No, we couldn't because you might just behead your chasers if I am not here to keep yours on. You know that you cannot win a quidditch match from Azkaban. Now, Sunflower, if it makes you feel any better, you should know that I am rooting for you."

He winked and smiled.

I rolled my eyes jokingly before replying, "Yes, it does. Just so you know, I wouldn't be here right now if you weren't. It is not easy being quidditch captain in fourth year, Sunshine. The only thing that is going to keep Roger's from yelling at me about not being in the common room right now, drawing out plays, is that I have homework to run off and do, too. Oh, along with the fact that I can, have, and will tell much louder."

"I know, Sunflower. I come to every one of your practices. Do you know that you are very cute when you turn blue in the face while screaming at the boys?"

I drew my head up quickly and turned my back to look at him, "I do not!"

"I know, Sunflower, I know. You are too sweet for that."

He pushed my shoulders down softly and I laid my head back down in his lap. I ignored the roll of his eyes and slight grin that he tried to use instead of sarcasm. Forgive me Greatmother but Rowena, he was really lucky he was cute... and that I loved him... and that I literally would not be able to survive without him.

"Well," he leaned down and placed a peck on my forehead, followed by the tip of my nose, finally on my lips, trying and succeeding at diffusing the hostility in my jokingly slivered eyes, "you said you have homework to finish. I am guessing it is that Herbology essay that you were telling me about last week. That one on the properties of Venomous Tentacula leaves. Harry and Ron were complaining endlessly last night on how difficult they seemed to think their one page essay on Bubotubers is when we are the only ones getting work years above our level."

"Well, yeah," my grin betrayed me again, "that is what happens when one of us is good at everything and the other tries far too hard at everything and fails."

Neville looked genuinely hurt when he pulled away and met my eyes.

"It hurts my heart, Sunshine, truly, that you assumed the bad one was you."

With that he leaned in and placed a long, gentle, and loving kiss on my lips. His hands went to my cheeks, putting almost no pressure at all on them, as though he thought I would break under his touch. As though he thought he could ever be at fault for making me so hurt that I would want to ever leave him.

I put my hands on his and pushed, making him hold my face tightly. He was hesitant but I persisted.

After what felt like ages that were not nearly long enough, he pulled away and grinned so widely, making me feel at home and genuinely loved.

"So that essay, yeah?" He proposed to which I giggled yet again.

The main book is called MAKE THEM GOLD it is set during Goblet of Fire, it's completed. Then there's the direct sequel called NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY and that is almost completed but so far there's only sixteen chapters published, the rest are in the drafts. There's also a prequel that's set in the same universe called WATCH ME WHILE I BLOOM but that's on hold at the moment because of writer's block.

This series can be read on AO3 which is my main platform but it's also cross-posted on Fanfiction,Net & Wattpad. I will post the links to the series and books down below for you to check out.
