summary: Sydney and Nico were given a second chance but do they take it or leave the once broken relationship, broken.
request: for @writingonleaves in the @callsign-denmark‘s luck of the puck fic exchange.
warnings: swearing, drinking, like two brief mentions about sexual themes.
word count: 8.75k
authors note: this was SO much fun to write oh my god! there could have been about 3k more in this but I was trimming portions to try to get it out in time. Think I have fallen in love with another fic couple and this was honestly really different to my normal stuff so we might see some small changes to future works because of this!

Nico was like a bad smell she couldn’t get rid of.
Albeit they had broken up well over four years ago, Sydney still couldn’t let herself move on. That was the first relationship that she had been the one to end it. What made that all the much more painful to swallow was that she was on a losing battle playing second fiddle to hockey.
The last normal conversation they had felt like it was weeks ago. Sydney had forced herself into everything that wasn’t Nico after they started fighting. Arguments ranged from complaints of how long Nico was spending at the rink away from practice to how she felt like more like his roommate than his girlfriend. Both had the same complaints behind them, Sydney missed her boyfriend.
Yet each time she tried to confront him about the matter Nico reminded her that she wouldn’t understand what was going on in his life as it was hockey. Those blows were low and she hoped she could forget about them tonight when she swore he was going to be the same caring and thoughtful Nico that Sydney fell for a year and a half ago. Her birthday was one night that Nico made Sydney feel like a princess.
So as this night came around for the second time in their relationship and the third time since he met her. It would have been understandable for her to have had expectations. But in reality all she wanted was for him to show up.
After missing two different nights with her friends and one dinner with her parents after cancelling in the last moments. Sydney’s friends resorted to saying how he was flakier than dandruff but nobody thought he could miss his girls birthday. Sure Nico had things to learn in life, but just like hockey he was learning to be a better boyfriend each day.
Sydney tried to remind herself of that as she sat at the table staring at the empty spot next to her. Everyone did their best to take her mind off of the fact that this time Nico hadn’t even given her an excuse. But no matter how hard they tried to mask their disappointment for the Swiss boy, nothing changed the fact that Sydney felt so alone in a room of the people who were meant to make her the happiest.
So part of her felt a little relieved when it came time for her to go home. Her coat was heavy on her skin as she began the short walk back to the apartment “wait!” The voice made her freeze as her grip on the gifts she held intensified.
Her mouth felt dry as she turned to see Nico running towards her “schatzi I’m so sorry.” The hockey player blurted out as he finally stopped in front of her with his tie loosely fastened around his neck. Sydney clicked her tongue as she shook her head “all I wanted was one night where you would put me first.” She admitted looking at the ground.
The boy was quick to place his hands on her shoulders “of course I put you first, you’re my girlfriend.” Nico spoke plainly like it was the stupidest thing he had heard her say “do you really?” Sydney scoffed as she took a step back.
It seemed as she had snapped “you never want to spend time with me anymore and when you do you’re on your phone distracted.” He avoided her eye as she mentioned that “but when you do pay attention you make me feel so awful like I’m uncool like or not good enough for you.” She brought her hand to her eye to wipe away a tear before it had the chance to roll down her cheek.
Nico knew he hadn’t been a great boyfriend as of recent but he thought he could change “practice went late tonight.” He confessed letting her look down to see his devils bag still in his hand “I think we should break up.” Sydney blurted out and in that moment the hockey player swore his world stopped spinning.
His eyes widened as he tried to figure out if this was just some joke “I mean we barely act like we’re together anyways and when we do we fight so it won’t be much different to right now.” Sydney shrugged as she pointed it out to him.
The boy remained silent as he wanted to wake up from whatever bad dream this was meant to be “goodbye Nico.” She mouthed trying all that she could to not let her voice break as she felt her heart go.
He watched her turn her foot as she began to leave him “please Syd don’t leave.” Nico pleaded feeling himself grow nauseated by the silence as her heels clicking against the sidewalk echoed in his ear “I love you.” It was a place hope statement for him wanting to make sure that she couldn’t leave without hearing him say it one last time.
Nico let out a sigh of relief finally seeing her turn around “there we are.” He smiled holding his arms out as she hugged him “I love you Nico.” Sydney sniffled as she felt a tear roll down her cheek resulting in him kissing her temple.
It took everything from her in that moment to stop herself from listening to her gut as she was close to staying with him “but I simply do not like you anymore.” Her confession had him dropping his hands from around her as he grew confused “and for that I can’t stay.” Sydney shook her head as she cupped his cheek getting one last time to look at him before she stepped away.
Nico felt like the world hated him as a cab pulled up in front of them “I’ll get my stuff during the week.” Sydney announced knowing that he was going to have a roadtrip and wouldn’t be able to stop her. What killed him the most wasn’t that she left, it was the fact that she didn’t even look back to him before she got in the cab.
Even as that happened years ago, the memory still managed to haunt the Jersey native. Even as she completed her degree Sydney couldn’t help but avoid that block. Nico had done well pushing his emotions down as he tried to respect her wishes. It hurt him that Sydney had walked out of his life but he knew she wasn’t unjustified. Nina made sure to call her younger brother out when she was on the other end of a drunken phone call from him.
Despite the fact that, his family only met Sydney on a handful of FaceTime calls, it was clear that she was ready to give him the world. So it was suffice to say that the family was shocked to hear that things had ended. Nobody blamed her for leaving either, but when she revealed to her Instagram page that Nina of course still followed that Sydney moved to Florida. Seeing her in a new NHL teams colors served as the harsh reminder that there was no space for their relationship to come back together.
From time to time Nico would drive past places in New Jersey and would see the memories of the grin imprinted on her face. He’d sometimes go back to the old restaurants and places that Sydney showed him wanting to make sure her Swiss man saw the real city. Nico somehow always ended up disappointed when she wouldn’t show up.
They had each learnt over the years how to live apart whilst never letting go of the remnants of that stained your hearts. Sydney loved being in Tampa, her dream was to work in sport and she was doing it. The lightings began to hold her heart and Sydney swore she would never leave, even as the garden state was still her home.
So when the star’s seemed to align and she was let go from Tampa mere hours before the offer came to go home. To say that Sydney was contemplating it that was an understatement, a life she loved that she ran from was ready to catch up to her. All of those years avoiding the hockey shows and the prudential centre were now for nothing.
Her friends swore she was stupid for even considering turning down the offer, not only was it finally a chance to come home. But it was also the job that Sydney had in a big circle on her vision board as a teen. Nico ended the season injured and that meant that Sydney was going to have to work with him.
That’s why she ended up on FaceTime with her closest friend needing all of the advice that she could get “what are you so afraid of Syd?” Willow sighed as she ran her fingers through her hair “what if things end up the same again?” Sydney’s voice was barely above a whisper as she swirled the wine in her glass. The fears were justified as the girls remembered the time that Sydney was always left waiting only to be met with disappointment.
Willow much like Sydney had left New Jersey after they graduated, yet she didn’t have as much to lose coming back “look I’m in New York if he thinks about being an ass.” Willow offered resulting in a smile forming on the older girls lips “I guess I should get on a call and tell them I’m coming home?” Sydney announced as she figured that nothing could go too badly wrong.
Family skates were a time that everyone loved and to celebrate the start of the season Nico convinced Sydney to join him for her first time on the ice “you seriously telling me you don’t know how to skate?” Nico couldn’t help but laugh as he stared at the girls nervous expression “I was always a field hockey girl growing up so don’t even!” Sydney scoffed as she shook her head.
It made the boy smile “think it’s cute you didn’t know.” The hockey player confessed as he looked down to her skates “just keep your doing that with your feet.” Nico nodded as he loosened his grip on her hands.
Sydney felt her eyes go wide “you better not.” She shook her head going to argue with him “I won’t let you get hurt schatzi.” He kissed her temple before let finally let go her sending a soft push to the small of her back “I’m doing it!” She cheered realizing that she could now skate by herself.
Nico smiled on as he let out a laugh “I’m so proud of you!” He clasped his hands together “wait how do I stop?” Her voice went shaky as Nico forgot to teach her that part.
A smile formed on Sydney’s lips as she fiddled with her necklace remembering that moment as she stared at the ice in front of her “doc is that you?” A familiar Canadian laughed as he hadn’t seen her in years “good to see you Bas.” Sydney turned around to see the older boy who matched her grin.
It took him seconds to pull her into a hug “time has been good to you kid.” He announced hinting to her longer hair that now wasn’t touched by the box color that Sydney loved to play with in college “I hope you aren’t stealing the doctor before I finish giving her the tour Nate.” Jillian teased as she had been tasked with showing Sydney around.
Sydney turned her attention to the older woman when she heard the sound of the boys coming in “if we could just head straight to my office so I could set up?” She proposed hoping that Jillian would agree, unaware of the girls reasoning for cutting her tour early “yeah sure.” The blonde nodded as she motioned to Sydney to follow her.
Within two minutes Nico was stood in the space that once held Sydney’s feet “you’re here early.” The captain pointed out as he furrowed his eyebrows “just figured I’d come meet the new physio early.” Nate shrugged as he threw his hands into his jacket.
His panicked state was noted by the younger boy “was he really that bad?” Nico let out a snort as he began to think that he wouldn’t need any rehabilitation before the trip to Czechia “I’ll let you make your own opinions about her.” The Canadian patted the boys back before he walked away fearing he’d say anything more.
Sydney felt herself cheer as she looked to everything that she had organized “nobody told me when I should see you but I need to be-” Nico cut himself off as his eyes widened seeing her name on the plate that sat on her desk “Sydney.” Her name felt foreign on his tongue as he never knew he’d get the chance to say it again.
The girl froze not knowing what to do as a smile forced its way onto her lips “what is it that you needed to see me for?” She cocked her head ignoring the way her heart pounded out of her chest “to get cleared so I can be back on the ice.” Nico explained as he pointed to his shoulder.
She nodded directing her head to where the examination table sat “go sit up there.” The girl pulled her hair into a pony “take your shirt off too.” She added watching him sit there like he was frozen.
His cheeks turned red as he grew embarrassed “right sorry.” He sighed pulling his shirt off before he placed it next to him “so how are you?” Sydney’s voice was soft as she ran her finger over the area.
Nico watched her intently “I mean I’ve been as good as one can be for captain and injured.” He confessed as he shrugged wincing as her hands turned her shoulder “I meant how is your shoulder feeling?” The girl stood there awkwardly as she reminded him why he was there.
The boy nodded as he gasped “right sorry.” The hockey player was quick to make it seem like he knew that all along “really hoping I’m ready to be cleared.” He was scared that she would stop him from traveling.
Sydney clicked her tongue as she stared at his arm “well I think you should pack your bags.” A smile formed on her lips as his eyes lit up “so think you should go get back to your team cap.” She bit her lower lip as it got caught between her teeth.
He pulled his shirt over his head and it helped her breathe again as she was no longer staring at his chiseled chest “so how have you been?” Nico twiddled his thumbs as he took in the sight of Sydney in her devils tracksuit “last few years in Florida has been real good t’me.” She shrugged trying to ignore the fact that he still used the same cologne that she had bought him.
All he could do was nod as his eyes leaned to the door “y’know I’m sorry.” Nico apologized as he sucked at his teeth “think you should get back to your team now.” She reminded him as she shook her head not caring for his apology.
Nico frowned when he watched her open her door “schatzi please.” He pleaded with a frown “think it’s best if you go.” Sydney mumbled looking to the floor as she refused to meet his eyes until he left.
As the door shut behind her she let out a breath that she didn’t even know she was holding in “fuck.” The physio felt her voice break when her head pushed against the door. It was going to long season if Sydney couldn’t even get through the mere act of talking to him.
Nico felt like he was barely above water watching the team practice as his legs bounced. His mind ran a million miles a minute holding every thought that he had kept in about Sydney came flooding back “you okay?” Jesper furrowed his eyebrows as he slid onto the bench next to the captain.
The Swiss man sighed as he nodded “she’s back.” The blonde couldn’t tell if the captain was asking him or admitting to that “who is?” Jesper felt like he was out of the loop.
Before Nico could answer him the older boy began poking his thigh “Syd is the new doc!” He whisper yelled feeling as though his mouth was about to fall out of his jaw “I know!” Nico sent him a glare trying to hint to his teammate that she was who he was talking about.
His lips turned into an o shape as he nodded “guys I expect you all to make yourself familiar with your new physio Sydney James.” The coach pointed to her as she sent the guys an awkward wave.
She was grateful for the fact that only a handful of the devils players she knew were still with the team as unfamiliar faces stared back at her “don’t try getting hurt to meet me early though, I look forward to meeting you guys throughout the season.” Her joke went down well with the team who cracked a laugh in response.
It made Nico feel sick as he saw the way that Luke and Alex looked up at the girl. They were far too friendly with her that the Swiss man wished he could just announce to the team that Sydney was off limits. But as she was pulled into a conversation with Nate who couldn’t help but send Nico a reminding look, the captain knew it wouldn’t work.
He spent the first two weeks of training trying to get his emotions under control as Nico needed to keep the green eyed monster to himself. Part of him wished he was still injured so that he could be the one spending time in her office as Sydney hadn’t spoken to him after that moment when she cleared him. Nico was willing to go as far as to pull some kind of rank to get the chance to sit with her during the flight to Czechia, only stopping once he was spoken down.
The flight was peaceful for the girl who got her beloved window seat. If there was one trait that Sydney was happy to say she got from her mom it was the fact that she could fall asleep anywhere and the hard plane wall seemed to be a favorite. Her phone was out as the team got to their hotel, snapping pictures to send back to Willow so the girls could talk about their future trips to Europe.
Nico smiled as he saw the girl grin only letting his expression drop when she flipped her phone around to show something to Jack that made him laugh in response. The Hughes boy was finally getting a chance to get to know her as the couple of interactions they had prior, were all under her being Nico’s girlfriend.
It was unclear to the Swiss man though when Sydney and Jack became so close but now he had seen them sit together on the bus for the entire ride to the hotel “you cannot be jealous Nico.” Nate reminded the younger boy as he could sense the glare the captain sent the centre from a mile away.
As she laughed and tucked her hair behind her ear Nico felt his heart flutter “I’m going to give him extra laps then.” Nico warned looking up to his friends “why don’t you talk to her?” Nate shot back pointing out that it was the most obvious thing that he could have done.
That resulted in Nico rolling his eyes as he shook his head “she didn’t seem like she wanted that.” He mumbled choosing to believe that Sydney had a change of heart by now “look don’t tell her I suggested this but she won’t turn you down if you’re injured.” Nate lowered his voice as he avoided the girls eyes like he was sharing a secret or something.
Nico truly wanted to call the idea for what it was which was a plan destined to fail “that’s never going to work.” He knew that he couldn’t hide anything from his Sydney and the captain prayed that she still knew him like that “just think about it.” Were the parting words that the older boy left with him as he walked off.
It didn’t take long for the knock to come at Sydney’s temporary office door “come in!” She called out as she wrapped the ice packs ready to go “hey Syd.” His voice was soft as he stood with one foot in the doorframe.
The girl furrowed her eyebrows as she turned to see Nico looking anywhere but where she was “what’s up cap?” The physio crossed her arms waiting to hear what brought him into her office “hurt my shoulder.” He pointed to the recently recovered one and it made the girl feel like her heart was in her chest.
She motioned to him to come over like he was a sick child waking their parent up in the middle of the night “did this happen in practice or?” It worried Sydney as the last she saw of him he was looking alright. Because as much as she didn’t want to admit it, she had been keeping an eye on him.
Nico nodded “Nate pushed me into the board and I think I just hit it weirdly.” He confessed as he took his shirt off not caring for the fact that he threw the older boy under the bus “good news is that it looks really good.” Sydney mumbled to herself as she studied the moment of his arm.
Of course the boy thought she was complimenting him at first “ah.” His gasp sounded like a wince making the girl furrow her eyebrows “you know I think we might have to pull you from tomorrow’s game if it doesn’t get better.” That was a blatant lie made her want to see just how honest the boy in front of her was being.
His eyes went wide as he thought about it “maybe I just need a painkiller and good night sleep and I’ll be good?” He offered as she dropped her hands going to reprimand him “doc!” The whine echoed in the hall quickly turning Sydney’s attention away from the boy.
She frowned seeing Luke walk in as he clutched his nose “what’s up bud?” The girl was quick to go over to his side to help him to her table “Jack hit me with the puck.” He explained making her hold back a laugh as this wasn’t the first time the siblings sent each other to see her.
So as Nico sat there dumbfounded by how fast he lost her attention Sydney couldn’t help but glare at him “if you’re done playing pretend I have an actual patient I need to see.” She spoke with spite. He was left to grab his shirt as he went to scurry out of the room beyond embarrassed with the new mental note to never listen to Nate again.
Maybe Sydney would have felt better if she knew the guilt that Nico carried after he left her room. But as she sat on the phone, she didn’t really care how he felt “you know the slap in the face that I felt today?” Sydney sighed as she fiddled with the ends of her robes strings.
Willow was still in bed as she had barely woken up from a night out “look I think you need to have a serious chat with him because that was a total dick move.” All the older girl did was validate her feelings “if he wants to have a relationship with you then he needs to be mature.” She added leaving Sydney to nod as she stared out of her window capturing the European nightlife.
It hurt her knowing that he seemed to care enough that little to do that to her “Will I think there’s someone at the door.” Sydney sighed hearing the sound of breathing outside of her room “I should go back to bed anyways.” Willows words made the younger girl laugh as the screen went black.
Sydney took those few paces to get to the other side of her room “hey-oh.” Her face dropped seeing Nico now stood in front of her “can we talk?” This time round his face was full of this sorry expression that even made the physio feel bad for spending her last hour bitching about him.
She nodded opening her door a little further to let him in as she wanted to avoid Nate and John’s room that was right across the hall from hers “I was a dick today.” Nico never really knew what words were appropriate for certain situations, especially when they came to the girl in front of him.
He watched her facial expressions softened as she let her arms drop to her sides “I know.” She nodded letting out a sigh “I just keep on trying to figure out how the hell we navigate this because I’m really happy you’re back.” The captain confessed as he scratched the nape of his neck.
Sydney did her best to hold back a grin as she knew his words were going to make her swoon “I just don’t want to lose you again.” They both knew he was hinting to romantically yet as the room grew hot she ignored that “you pull a stunt like that again and I will not talk to you.” She felt like he had made a mockery of her job by faking being hurt just to talk to her.
The boy nodded “I’m not that scary and if you want to talk just tell me that.” She warned him making him smile “I’ll make sure you have your food before I come talk.” He teased making her playfully roll her eyes as she pretended to be annoyed.
Nico watched her send him a genuine smile as he heard his phone go off reminding him that he was meant to be playing the F1 video game with Timo “well I think I should head back to mine now.” He announced reading the message from the boy wondering where he was.
Sydney nodded as she tugged at the necklace on her neck “and Nico?” Her voice was softer as they both shifted back to her door “I’m glad to be back too.” Whilst the physio couldn’t bring herself to say what she meant aloud, Nico knew it all too tell “have a nice night Syd.” Once he started the walk back to his room he realized that they each knew each other too well.
It was one of the reasons why neither one of them could find themselves in a long term relationship with another person. Their hearts couldn’t be given to strangers when the scars of that relationship were still impounded on them. So as much as Sydney probably would hate to admit it, she was still the same person that Nico knew like the back of his hand and he was that to her.
If Sydney had the choice her birthday would have been just another day. After the nightmare that was her birthday when she broke up with Nico it became a day she preferred to forget. That’s why she ended up awake early and on a run through the city she missed. It made her happy seeing the way that the summer leaves were now turning to different shades of fall with crisp oranges and reds painted the trees and streets in front of her.
Going for a run was never her first choice of activities but now that she was back in Nico’s life for her birthday, it brought up emotions Sydney wished to forget. Her feet took her to coffee shop that she hadn’t seen in years “you okay doc?” Jack’s voice was soft as he furrowed his eyebrows “just great.”She lied pulling her AirPods out of her ear as her head felt dizzy.
Jack held his hand out to the girl as he motioned inside “I could do with some company when I have my coffee if the birthday girl pleases.” A smile formed on his face as she was quickly confused forgetting about her previous emotions “really thought Nico wouldn’t tell us about your birthday?” Jack didn’t now the details of why they ended as neither party felt up to revealing that to him.
Sydney shook her head as her eyes stuck to the corner as memories came flooding back into her mind “can’t say I expected him rush to it.” She mumbled clenching her hand around her phone as she realized that nothing had changed in the cafe after all those years. The Hughes boy saw where she was staring“you want to go sit there and I’ll get you your normal?” Before he waited for the girl to answer the hockey player left wanting to get her a birthday treat.
It had been pouring all day when Nico ran into the girls favorite cafe “hey schatzi.” He smiled kissing her temple before he slid into the seat next to her “you’re all wet!” She complained feeling him shake his hair in her face like a dog.
A laugh left his lips as he hooked his fingers under her jaw “missed ya.” Nico mumbled before he pecked her lips. The kiss was far too short for her approval and it had her letting her lips form a pout as Sydney went to kiss him again “seems you missed me too.” The hockey player smirked watching his girlfriend roll her eyes.
His hands went to her sides pulling her that much closer to her as he smiled “don’t know why I do.” She clicked her tongue pulling him into a proper kiss. Nico groaned as her tongue swiped across his lower lip and before he got the chance to enjoy the kiss she pulled away “that’s why.” Nico nodded to himself as he had to do everything in his power to stop the blood from rushing to his cock.
Jack noticed that Sydney hadn’t moved and it left him squeezing her arm as he grew worried “you alright doc?” He furrowed his brows watching as she practically had her soul come back into her body “yeah I-I’m sorry.” She nodded tucking her loose strands from her braid behind her ear.
The boy felt bad thinking he had been apart of it “we can take it to go and I’ll drop you off at yours if you’d prefer?” Jack offered hoping that the girl would tell him what was going on eventually “yeah maybe that would be best.” Sydney nodded as she frowned “think I need to go home and take the day.” Part of her felt pathetic as she truthfully thought that she could survive and get through it all but maybe she wasn’t that brave.
From the moment Nico realized that Sydney wasn’t at work he felt like shit. Jack didn’t fail to mention his little interaction with the girl and how she was really off from the moment they walked into that cafe “what if she doesn’t want to see anyone?” Jack inquired as he pulled up his phone to find the address that the physio had put in when he dropped her off “she can turn me away and I won’t say that it was you who gave me the address.”Nico knew he wouldn’t stop worrying about the girl.
It made the boy scoff “I am telling you so I don’t get extra laps.” Jack reminded the older boy as he spoke in a duh tone “same thing?” The captain shrugged as he rolled his eyes.
Sydney sat comfortably with her pint of ice cream when she was curled up in a blanket“go away I’m sick!” She faked a cough at the sound of a knock at her door “I know you’re in there and I know you’re okay!” Nico called out as he looked to the bags of Chinese takeaway in his hands.
She furrowed her eyebrows as she skeptically walked to the door “what are you doing here?” The physio asked staring through the peephole to see where he was “you shouldn’t spend your birthday alone.” He was met with silence “and I brought you food.” That offer worked far better as the girl opened the door.
Nico smiled as he held the bags up “can I come in?” He asked as she nodded “you didn’t need to do this.” Sydney pointed out as she shoved her hands into her hoodie pockets.
It made the boy roll his eyes “I am here because you deserve it and you always loved this places egg rolls.” The smell made Sydney moan “god you are a saint.” She nodded opening the bag like she hadn’t eaten in weeks “why is there a cupcake on the top?” Sydney took a step back as she cocked her head waiting for this answer.
The captain awkwardly looked to the ground “realized I’ve never gotten you a cupcake on your birthday.” He confessed reflecting on how poor of a boyfriend he had to her “thank you for this.” Her smile was genuine as her heart felt full.
He brushed her off as he wanted to just do something nice for her “so why don’t you go sit down and I’ll get some plates?” It was like a flip switched in their minds and before they both knew it they were back to this domestic couple laying on the couch as they caught up “so how is it being captain?” Sydney had never gotten the chance to congratulate him on that as they always thought she’d be by his side when it happened.
The boy placed his chopsticks on his plate as he looked up “I’m just glad we are doing better than last season.” In a competition for felt like last place Nico was relieved to know that the team had improved “everyone always blames the captain when the stuff on the ice goes wrong.” The weight of the world had been on his shoulders and he didn’t think he could do it again.
Sydney frowned as she shook her head placing her hand on his “never thought it was your fault neeks.” Her voice was barely above a whisper as she squeezed his hand “you’d be someone who would be the most justified to hate my guts.” Nico pointed out making the girl move closer to him.
Their legs touched and it seemed to make him melt into her couch “I broke up with you because this wasn’t right for me anymore, not because I hated you.” Sydney confessed needing him to know hear her “you were always too good to me Syd.” Nico sighed bringing his hand up to cup her cheek.
She was proud that she hadn’t started to cry as she realized how much she missed moments like this with him “nice to know you think that.” The girl smiled as she watched his eyes dart to her lips “y’know I’m proud of us for reaching our dreams.” Nico announced dropping his hand as he moved away from her side.
Sydney missed his touch as she nodded “think you being captain is a bit more impressive than a physio.” Her words made him send her a glare “without you we’d be a dead team walking.” Nico was quick to quip back “like Jack would have killed Luke and you know the boys love you.” It had been barely a month since she joined the team and it was clear that for many she was like a sister that they never had.
It made her blush as she hurried her head in her hands quietly shaking her head “they like me?” She let her lips formed an o as she smiled “they like me!” It had her kicking her feet “the more you say it the more I regret it!” He matched her tone causing her lips to shoot into a line.
It was sent with this glare “on that note I’m going to get another drink.” Nico smiled getting up as he sent to the kitchen “you know I’m glad you came back to Jersey.” He confessed looking into her fridge as he had put his juice into it.
The other side of the room was silent “it’s good seeing you out of that awful shade of blue.” A laugh left his lips as he played harder against the two Florida teams as Nina let it slip that it was where Sydney relocated to “and I really do know I was a fool for not running after you.” He rambled on cracking open the bottle.
He was confused not getting any response “I was stupid for not doing that and I know I should-” the hockey captain laughed as he cut himself off seeing Sydney fast asleep on the couch.
It was sweet and comforting as she was out cold already too far gone to be woken up from sudden noises “you’ve never stopped being so beautiful.” Nico sighed placing his glass on the table “happy birthday Syd.” He pulled her blanket over her tucking her in.
Soft huffs left her lips as she nuzzled her head into the pillow behind her “goodnight.” The captain picked up her plate heading to clean up for her.
Snow fell on the roads outside as Sydney was busy in the kitchen “Syd come get the door!” Her mom called out turning the Christmas music down “ma I gotta make sure that my cookies are right!” The physio complained wipe the flour on her apron.
The girl was irritated as she walked through the house avoiding the areas of her scattered younger cousins who ran through the first floor “you came!” Sydney’s brother let out a giggle turning to see when his sister would come to him “Syd, Nico is here!” Kyle squealed not noticing as his sisters eyes went wide.
Sydney felt embarrassed as she was covered in flour and a definite bit of chocolate “I know.” She nodded hearing the gasps from her uncles as they realised that the Devils captain was stood in the living room “merry Christmas Syd.” Nico smiled sending her a wave “your dad said I could come.” He explained pointing to her father who did nothing more than nod willingly as he took full blame for the matter.
As her family began to move closer to him with many never having had met him before Nico found himself getting overwhelmed sending Sydney a hopeful look that she’d come and save him “alright alright people hands off my captain.” The physio groaned pushing through as she wrapped her hand around the Swiss man’s “I need my sue chef for the rest of my cookies.” She lied ignoring the complaints from the older members of her family who couldn’t help but sigh at the news.
Nico smiled seeing the chaos that was the kitchen counter “you don’t mind that I’m here?” He asked pulling the coat from his shoulders “Nico you deserve to spend Christmas with people who love you.” Sydney began placing the cookies into the oven as she set her timer.
The boy found a comfortable place in the corner of her kitchen “but if you can’t spend the day with your family I’ll happily let you spend it with mine.” Since she was a kid the house was always full on holidays and that’s what she had grown used to “you really mean that?” To say he was touched was an understatement.
She nodded watching him go to hug her “I’m gonna get flour all over ya.” Sydney went to stop him but instead it only made him hug her tighter “I’ll let you make a mess out of me any day Syd.” Nico confessed as he kissed her head, if only she knew she already made him feel like that each day.
January came and went and now the team was celebrating a flurry of wins with a family skate session “doc where are your skates?” Luke quizzed the girl as he crossed his arms “they are in the corner.” Sydney pointed to the side.
The boy furrowed his brows as the girl grinned “and why aren’t they on your feet?” He spoke in a duh tone “because this is time for you guys to skate with your families.” Sydney shot back like it was the most obvious thing in this world “you are family so get those on before I push you onto the ice.” the duo had formed this brother sister bond that had them questioning why they only just met.
Nico watched the interaction from afar “you better get her on the ice before I do.” Nina warned as she skated to her brothers side “don’t want to make her uncomfortable.” He confessed watching as she ruffled her hand through the younger Hughes boys hair.
Nina sighed squeezing his hand “if you don’t I’ll tell her about how you slept talk about her for a month after she dumped you.” The girl warned with a smirk on her face “you wouldn’t.” The Hischier siblings each faced off in front of each other.
But their moment was cut short when Luke cleared his throat “Nina she said she’s not skating if you don’t come skate with her.” The Hughes boy sighed not knowing how he ended up in the position of biding the girls battles.
It made her laugh “I’m coming baby!” Nina called out seeing the girl waving at her.
It made Nico smile as he realised that the duo were still just as close as they used to be “who would have thought you’d be putting up a fight with your sister for doc.” Dawson teased seeing the girls embrace each other “you want take extra laps?” Nicos offer left the boy silent as he shook his head letting the captain watch the sight.
The crowd that the prudential center was ecstatic after the boys won their final game of the season “doc we did it!” Jack cheered seeing the girl smile as she high-fived him “so you gonna come with us tonight?” He asked seeing the crowd of his teammates funnel into the locker room.
She grew confused as she furrowed her eyebrows “come with you?” She trailed off hoping the boy would fill in the gaps “we are going to celebrate and you’re coming with!” Luke chuckled as he sent her a grin “you better come with Syd.” Nico pleaded letting out a groan as he could see she wasn’t sure.
The quick desperate looks that the boys sent her were enough “just spend me the address and I’ll be there okay!” She pinched the bridge of her nose as she heard them all cheer.
Sydney looked good in her red dress and that’s what left Nico practically attached to her hip “neeks if you don’t leave we’re both not getting any action tonight.” The physio warned as every guy that thought about looking her way was instantly turned off by the idea of the Swiss man next to her.
Nico forced a laugh as he sipped his beer “who says that I really want to go home with some stranger anyways?” He shot back making her smirk “the captain decide he’s too good for a reward now?” She teased stirring her straw in her drink.
He did everything he could to not get angry that she failed to note his flirtatious acknowledgements “only if this girl doesn’t come and give it to me.” The captain nudged his shoulder with hers “so blonde with the big tits still has a shot?” Sydney laughed seeing that a girl that had been trying her luck all night with the boy was still there waiting for him.
It made Nico cringe at the memory of how her fake nails practically dug into the skin of his arm “don’t remember you referring to yourself as big tits.” The joke have time to land before Sydney brought her hand to hit him “I’m kidding!” Nico groaned having to massage the area of his now sore arm.
She sent him an unimpressed look that only made him smile in response as he held back a laugh “have to admit that it was pretty fucking funny.” His voice was soft as he tried to re break the ice “shut up.” Sydney rolled her eyes as she turned her head now noticing that their faces were millimetres away from each other.
Nico was the first to move but instead of moving away, he hooked his fingers under her jaw and pulled Sydney closer. His lips were rough against hers and if it wasn’t for Willow yelling in her mind Sydney would have melted into his touch. Yet that wasn’t the case as she pulled away “Nico.” Their foreheads touched like they were struggling to breathe.
The boy was embarrassed as he had been rejected “I should go.” Sydney announced as she looked to her watch. Tonight she was grateful for the fact that she wasn’t wearing heels as it meant she could slip away from the scene.
Still running wasn’t something that Sydney enjoyed. But somehow here she was avoiding her feelings. It was surprisingly tougher than the girl thought to avoid Nico as he was everywhere. Shortly after that night in the bar the team ended up on a roadtrip to play their wild card game, and Nico was in the seat next to her.
Luckily for them both they ended up asleep and were forced to talk. Then the countless awkward elevator rides came where somehow not a single person on the team could be in the same lift as them. Still neither one of them broke, it was this battle of stubbornness that seemed destined to go on forever “Hischier is down!” The announcer called out as the coaching staff looked to Sydney as her eyes went wide.
In that moment she no longer cared about the fact that she had rejected him. The awkwardness they both felt seemed to dissipate as she slid onto her knees in front of him “what hurts Nico?” She asked seeing him clutch different parts of his body “my knee.” Nico frowned locking eyes with her as it made the girl sigh.
The physio didn’t hesitate to do the right thing “I need to check you out in the room.” The team was already three down in the third and Sydney came to the conclusion that with injuries she was going to make the boys cut their losses with less than five minutes on the clock.
He went to argue as the boys helped him up “need to check you out Neeks to make sure you’re okay.” Her voice was soft fearing the worst as he didn’t put any weight on his leg “I’m fine he spat shaking his head as he almost couldn’t believe that she’d take him out of a game this big.
It was funny how Sydney taking him out early ended up being the reason why Nico wasn’t walking into the end of season gala with some kind of brace around his knee. The team were happy together and as the happy couples within it finally got the chance to celebrate how far their partners came over the long season, it felt incomplete.
Sure Nico would have wanted a HABs the cup to complete it. But it was actually when he searched for Sydney that he realised something was off, she was gone “you seen Syd?” Nico asked Nate wondering if the girl was hiding in a corner beating Luke at the days wordle that he always struggled to get.
But instead Nate motioned out to the terrace that was attached to the venue “said she wanted to get some air a couple of minutes ago!” Nate called out over the music as he shrugged. Nico patted his teammate on the back to thank him before he went straight for the door.
If he hadn’t looked hard enough he would have missed her but there stood Sydney in the corner as she let her black dress blend into the night “there you are Syd.” He was quick to regret placing his hand on the skin of her back realising how cold she was “you’re practically frozen.” Nico pointed out removing his suit jacket.
Sydney smiled feeling the thick material wrap around her shoulders “what are you doing out here?” The captain asked as he cocked his head “just been doing some thinking.” The physio confessed as she shrugged.
Nico nodded hoping to hear more from her but decided against pushing for it. But as he stood there and her lips remained shut the boy lost hope and went to leave her “I don’t want to just be your physio Nico.” Sydney blurted out feeling her throat go dry as the nerves hit her.
It made his feet stick to the spot where he stood “I thought I did a good job letting the boys get you too.” Nico pointed out as she sighed.
She knew telling him was a stupid idea that would only end up hurting her “I keep on trying to remember all of the reasons why we didn’t work.” His face dropped as her eyes went shut “but it only works for like a minute until I see that you’ve grown into this great guy who deserves the world.” It made Nico smile knowing that Sydney felt that way.
The girl tucked her hair behind her ear “but you’re going to Switzerland and I’m meant to be in France.” Willow had indeed convinced Sydney to take that girls trip that they so clearly deserved “and you need to be able to be free back there.” Nina hadn’t withheld any information from the physio so she now knew about all the girls that wanted him both in his home and hers.
Nico took a step back closer to her “why turn me down in the bar?” He asked still thinking back to the moment where she ran away from him “I was scared it was going to be a one time thing.” With that Nico had his hands on her waist spinning her so that she could look at him.
His eyes pierced hers “I’ve been ready to go six stages in with ya since I was so boring you feel asleep on your birthday.” Nico teased her and was only met with a scoff “I had a long day okay!” Nico began to sway her back and forth as they listened to the music that traveled from inside.
The boy rested his head against hers as they both swore they could be there forever “I want to be yours forever.” Sydney confessed making him smile “I am yours forever.” He mumbled leaning down to peck her lips.
Not to be dramatic but the sound of fireworks went off and Nico swore the world understood him, or at least that was until he looked up to the sky to see fireworks going off. They made him smile as he heard Sydney squeal in delight.
So there the duo stood arms wrapped around each other with the inevitable spending the night between the sheets with tangled legs looming over their heads. All the moment needed to be perfect was one final touch “Nico you wanna go on a date tonight?” Sydney smiled as she already had an idea forming in her mind.
Nico nodded as he thought about the perfect place to go “why don’t we go get pizza?” Most people would have cringed at that idea whilst they were dressed in the high clothing that they were “like right now?” Sydney wasn’t used to the side of Nico that was ready to pull her down the stares and out to something impulsive.
He nodded pressing the open button on the elevator “ain’t no time like the present baby.” Nico announced letting the doors slide shut before he let his lips lace with Sydney’s. The world went on but I’m hat moment for them it all stopped allowing the duo to enjoy their present.

Hii, I recently found your account and saw you have treasure on your fandom list and would love you to do something them related.
Could I request a high school fluff story between fem reader x Doyoung? Doyoung, yn, and Yoshi have friend group trio where yn has a crush on Doyoung but he already has a girlfriend?
𝕀𝕥'𝕤 ℍ𝕒𝕣𝕕 𝕋𝕠 𝔽𝕚𝕟𝕕 𝕊𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕋𝕣𝕦𝕖
Tumblr media
Pairings: High School! Doyoung x Highschool! Fem Reader
Word Count: 0.9k
Genre: Fluff, angst with a happy ending
Warnings: Breakup, sensitive language, mentions of bullying, mentions of cheating
Synopsis: Doyoung, Yoshi and you have been best friends ever since middle school, however when you entered highschool your best friend Doyoung got a girlfriend, what you couldn't tell him is how you felt about him for so long even before you ever spoke a word to him.
Tumblr media
Doyoung's relationship with a girl who soon became popular in the school just stopped all the plans you had with Doyoung and Yoshi. every time you and Yoshi tried to hang out he would always bring up his girlfriend.
The next day after you all moved in together as roommates, Doyoung came back to the dorm upset, when Yoshi went to talk to him you overheard them say how his girlfriend started an argument over him moving in with you.
Of course she did..
Truthfully, you never liked the girl, Jeong Sihyun. In your past school, she was your classmate and made your life a living hell. She and her friend group always loved to target you, they even once pushed you right off your chair. The disappointment you felt when Doyoung announced her as his girlfriend just made you want to splatter the absolute nastiest things at him.
But you just couldn't bring yourself to tell Doyoung, he had liked her for so long and although it bothered you.. you would never be capable of breaking them up.. even when you knew it was for the best.
Doyoung loved her, and she seemed to like him too, although it disgusted you.
But soon the love faded when you constantly heard arguments between the two when she used to come over.
It went from arguments of Doyoung forgetting things to arguments of you.
You only ever heard your name come out from both mouths.
"IF YOU DON'T UNFRIEND HER I'LL BREAK UP WITH YOU RIGHT NOW!"
"SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND!!! WHY CAN'T I LIVE LIKE A NORMAL PERSON FOR ONCE??"
"It's either me or her, Doyoung. You choose, it's not okay to have a female best friend and a girlfriend."
"Oh just like you made out with your male best friend on the bus last week? Fine then, I chose her, and we're over!"
Upon hearing Doyoung's harsh words to his ex, you were left in complete shock. How much patience does he have for him to have not broken up with her right after he found out what she did?
After she left you exited your room, Doyoung was sitting down, the mood felt odd, as he wasn't happy and cheerful as he always was. Part of you was glad, finally things would return to the way they used to be, you could finally hold Doyoung's hand again, the three of you could finally go out and eat breakfast together on the weekends, you guys could finally take your yearly trips, you finally wouldn't hear all over the hallways how Doyoung was cheating on Sihyun with you, everything would return to the way they used to be.
But half of you felt guilty, you were the only reason they fought so often, the reason they broke up…
"Doyoung…. I'm sorry… it's my fault the happiest moments of your life ended-"
"How long were you planning to hide the fact that you used to be bullied by her?"
The silence was too loud at the moment, gosh how much you wish Yoshi hadn't gone out with some friends to the movies.
"We were best friends… what do you mean bullied?"
"Don't you dare lie to me Yn, I know you were bullied, and she was the person who you hated most."
"She never laid a hand on me!"
"Yeah right, just like she kicked your chair while you were sitting on it."
"How did you-"
"You could've been honest from the start, you predicted this would happen from miles away."
Your heart sank, now your guilt felt endless. You wanted him to stop, stop hitting you with his harsh words.
"I'm not mad at you… I'm not upset about this break up either… I just didn't understand why you kept it from me for so long…
"I'm sorry Doyoung, I didn't want you to break up with her since you loved her so much…"
"Loved her? It's impossible to love her, she never liked me, she just dated me for her own advantages."
"I'm sorry…"
Doyoung stares at you while you stare at the ground, you felt like you wanted to disappear, but you suddenly got a burst of shock upon hearing Doyoung start laughing.
"How are you in such a happy mood!!? You just broke up with the person you love-"
"What if we text Yoshi to hurry up? I'll invite you guys to eat dinner tonight."
"What?"
"You didn't expect me to cry over her right?"
"Well.. honestly I kinda did.."
"Wow Yn, you know what? I'll invite Yoshi to eat tonight-"
"Hey! That's not fair!"
You start chasing Doyoung around the dorm, finally you laughed with him again, you finally saw him smile again, finally things were going back to how they used to be.
You and Doyoung sat on the couch as you waited for Yoshi to return from the movies, although it was silent you couldn't help but smile to knowing things would finally get better for all of you.
"Afterall it's hard to find someone true.."
You look at Doyoung, confused but knowing his sentence had a meaning.
"It is…"
Just as Doyoung opened his mouth, about to speak, Yoshi opened to door and ran to Doyoung, although it was a loud mess for a while, you all smiled and chatted the entire way to the restaurant.
You never found out what Doyoung wanted to say that night, he never told you either. Therefore you never knew the exact reason for Doyoung's sentence, but you never asked after that.
Afterall he's right, although it's hard to find someone true. You found your true, and helped him find his..

Hello! I love reading your Bad Batch headcanons, I can always pictures the boys doing what you have written!
I have an ask and it's self indulgent ~~I completely understand if you decide not to complete it~~, but I was wondering if you could do one were the reader is visiting family and they all speak a language the reader doesn't speak, so the reader is left out of a lot of conversations, and how the batch would react/respond?
Thank you in advance, regardless of wether you decided to fulfill the ask or not ❤️
Keep on writing ✒️
Hi anon, thank you so much for your kind words!
Of course you can ask, I'm always happy to challeng myself: for your request, it's not exactly what you wanted, but I hope you like it anyways!
Tags: fluff; some angst; angst/comfort; barrier language; protective!Bad Batch; reader is without description.
Hunter:
You were so enthusiastic to finally meet the rest of the squad, to personally know the remaining members of the Bad Batch, the best brothers Hunter could ask for.
You passed the previous day repeating their names, their positions, and how they looked like: you wanted them to like you, to be happy that Hunter had chosen you, even if you were a civilian.
And now you were in front of them, smile in place and nerves under control: all will go alright, it had to be. You loved Hunter too much to ask him to chose between you or his brothers.
So, you tried to be your charming self, squashing down your anxiety: Hunter had promised you that his brothers would be delighted to know his Cyare - whatever the name meant in Mando'a - and that they would be in their best behavior.
Usually, you would believe in your Sarge, your brave Hunter who you could visualize a life with: but now you were cut off from all of them, a spectator of your own life. Because you didn't speak Mando'a, even one word.
And watching the four men in front of you joking, smiling, and animatedly talking, you felt dreed rising from your stomach: because, how could you compete with them for Hunter? He was tied so obviously with them, in a way you knew he hadn't with you.
Your smile grew stiff, and your eyes began to blur with tears, but you tied to calm yourself: no panic in front of strangers. You could break into the safety of your room.
"What's wrong Cyare, I can smell you are sad." - Hunter's ushered voice startled you, fear of disappointing him raising, blinking hard to hide your tears.
"Nothing's wrong." - you smiled at him, tried to hide your fear if his brothers rejected you. Hunter hummed, not convinced in the sightless, and suddenly he kissed you. Hard and long. Like you two were alone in your apartment.
"Hunter! Let your poor cyare breathe!" - at Wrecker's teasing voice, you blushed bright red, a small happy smile blooming. Hunter loved you, and he wasn't shy to show it to his brothers. There was time to learn Mando'a.
Tech:
Today was the day. You steeled yourself, choosing to see it like you were going on another mission: go, do your work, return home satisfied for the excellent result. Nothing more, nothing less.
Except, you were going to meet Tech's squad, the famous Bad Batch. This time properly, not the hurried goodbye you gave him for his last mission in front of everyone. Maker, Andrew had teased you so much for that, that you had to threaten him to reveal his secret crush on Commander Cody if he didn't stop.
Uniform in order, you swiftly walked towards your meeting point, smiling when you saw Tech coming to you. You blushed slightly at his kiss on your cheek and steeled yourself again: this was a mission, and you won't fail.
But before you could even open your mouth to present yourself, a playful banter started between the squad - and without you: because you didn't know Mando'a, only a few words when Tech wasn't too much occupied and could teach you. And Maker, there was a motive you were in Coordination and not in Communication.
You caught words like vod - brother - and Cyar'ika - sweetheart, what Tech liked to call you - but nothing more; and you went stiff, with dreed pervading your body: you wanted to show them that you were a perfect match, but now you didn't even know.
"I would suggest we switch back to the common tongue. You all are making my Cyar'ika a little uncomfortable." - ah, your shining knight in white armor: you gave him a grateful smile, noting the bashful expression on the other's faces. And now that you had the attention, you could present yourself.
No mission was without hitches.
Wrecker:
This was a wonderful evening, one of the happiest in a long time. The small rest days for Wrecker, the dinner at your favorite restaurant, the lazy scroll on the local fair, and the beautiful necklace Wrecker had bought for you.
Yes, this was a splendid evening, so you didn't protest when your handsome man asked you if you wanted to meet his brothers, with a shy voice that hid how much he wanted you to know his family. You eagerly said yes, for you too wanted to meet the rest of the Bad Batch - particularly so you could finally comm Wrecker, and talk to him without the embarrassment of being discovered by his squad.
And the meeting was going well, when they started to speak in Mando'a and, well, you weren't super fluent, but you had some basics down. Basics that didn't help you with the fast pace between the four men, neither with the complicated words.
You tried to not fidget, anxiety running in your body: you didn't understand a thing that they were talking about but, from Wrecker's red face, they were teasing you both.
Your mind - genius it was - snickered: they couldn't get a reaction from you if you didn't even understand the words. So, your famous embarrassed ears could show themselves another time. Maybe never. Like, never. Nope.
"Alright, stop! Leave me and my Ad'ika alone." - you raised an eyebrow, a smile blooming on your face: your protective man, so strong and so kind.
"Well, Wrecker, you found someone who can't blush as much as you. Not that is hard." - Crosshair snickered in the background while Hunter rolled his eyes at him. And you caught the occasion at the fly.
"Well, it's difficult to blush at your teasing if I don't understand a thing you all are saying." - and, with the sound of shock and "Not fair!", you laughed and kissed Wrecker again.
Yes, it was a beautiful evening.
Crosshair:
The blasting beat of the bar was slowly getting your anxiety up: you were waiting for Cross and his brothers, spending the brief time together before they had to depart again. Both of you would have preferred to be alone, but your apartment was out of the question - as your roommate was sick and you didn't want to attack her fever to Cross. And the Batch's barrack was out as well because you didn't want to get caught naked from any of Cross' brothers. Like, no. Ever.
So, you had to compromise to a handful of hours together in this strange bar, address commed to you by the sniper, to at least saw each other: Cross was always coming and going into missions, and your attention was full into your work. Not many opportunities to spend some time together.
When you caught sign of their distinctive black and red armors, you slowly started your way towards them, purse tightly grasped in your hand: there were so many people in this bar, mainly clones.
Your quick greeting died on your lips as the squad was murmuring at each other in Mando'a, with only Cross' gaze as an indicator that he saw you.
You didn't know what they were talking about, you had started to learn Mando'a in your little free time, but you weren't confident in your basic, let alone be fluent like Crosshair.
"I'm going to get a drink." - you murmured to him, not giving him the time to respond. If they wanted to exclude you for all the evening, you bloody well were going home. At least there, you could safely drink all you wanted and go to bed afterward.
You didn't know how long you waited between ordering your drink and waiting for it, but it gave Crosshair enough time to found you, caging your body between his and the counter. You nearly snarled at him, poisoned words ready for the stupid idiot who dared to touch you without permission, but they died seeing Cross' stupid smirk in place.
"Where do you think you are going?" - he asked, a hint of playful banter under the wave of his possessivity.
"At home, if you continue to leave me out." - you replied while pressing your back fully into his chest. The armor complicated a little your want to touch him, but you could compromise.
"Oh, Mesh'la, keep your claws in. We were finishing our mission report, nothing you had to worry about." - he kissed the top of your head, and you relaxed: there was no time to be petty or angry, savoring the moment.
And if the Batch were discussing a brief leave and Cross had planned to stay a few days with you, well, you didn't need to know. Not yet.

I Know My Love Should Be Celebrated, But You Tolerate It
Pairing: America/Romano, human AU
Ratings/Warnings: Teen, mild angst and some homophobia from human OCs.
Word Count: 2100
Summary: Alfred needs to tell his mother he’s engaged, but he knows she won’t be happy for him the way Matthew was when he got the news.
Alfred was sitting on the couch with his hand clasped in Savino’s, staring at the cell phone that was resting on the coffee table. Part of him didn’t want to pick it up to tell his mother that he was engaged now, because he knew she wouldn’t have the reaction he was hoping for.
Last night, he’d called Mattie only a few minutes after Savino had proposed. Matthew said congratulations, told Alfred he was happy for him, and most importantly, sounded completely sincere and not just like he was saying what he was supposed to. He listened while Alfred gushed about the proposal and possible wedding plans and chuckled quietly at some of Alfred’s more outlandish ideas. He was just as amused as he would’ve been if they’d been there in person and he’d been able to see Savino curled up into his side, blushing and with that fond, disbelieving grin only Alfred could put on his face. They talked for an hour and a half until Savino pointed out that it was past midnight, and Matthew might need to end the call so he could get enough sleep before he had to go into work the next day.
Alfred knew that his mother wouldn’t react like that. The first time he’d brought Vinny home to meet his family, his father shook his head and walked out of the room while muttering under his breath. Alfred had heard the car starting up outside as his mom gave them an extremely fake smile and asked them if they’d like something to drink. Later, she’d pulled Alfred aside to scold him for not “warning” his parents ahead of time that Savino was his boyfriend, not just his friend. She asked about his sexuality, and he hadn’t been able to answer to her satisfaction, because to him it wasn’t a question of men vs. women. It was a question of Savino vs. every other human being on the planet. If he couldn’t be with Vinny, he’d rather be with no one at all.
It had been two years since then, but Alfred could still vividly remember the look his mom gave him, which was identical to the look she’d give Baxter when he was a puppy and peed on the carpet. Like she loved him, because Alfred was her son and she had no other choice, but was deeply, deeply disappointed in him.
Alfred stared at the phone and jiggled his leg nervously. Savino squeezed his hand.
“You’ll have to pick up the phone eventually, tesoro.”
Alfred heaved out a sigh. “I know. It’s not like I don’t wanna tell her. I wanna tell everybody. Last night, when you asked me to marry you, was the happiest moment of my life. But I know if I tell her, she’s gonna try to make me change my mind.”
Savino smiled weakly. “But she’s not going to be able to, is she?”
Alfred shook his head and glanced back at his cell phone. “No. Nothing could ever make me change my mind.”
Vinny rubbed his hand over the back of Alfred’s hand. “I’ll be here when you call her. You won’t have to do this alone.”
He could do it. With Vinny holding his hand, he could swallow down his anxiety and tell his parents. Alfred picked up his cell phone, went to his contacts, and called his mom.
The phone rang twice before his mom answered. “Hello, Alfred.”
“Hey, Mom. I’ve got some big news to share with you.” He figured it was best to tell her right away. He glanced over at his fiancé, who was nodding in approval.
“Is it good news?”
“The best news. I’m engaged. Vinny asked me to marry him last night.” Alfred grinned, because it felt amazing to say that out loud. Some part of Alfred still couldn’t believe it was real. He was gonna marry Vinny, who was smirking because he knew it was taking every ounce of Alfred’s self-control to avoid squealing or screaming down the phone line like he had when he called Mattie the night before. Savino was adorable 24/7, but especially when he smirked like that, like he was the lucky one in this relationship. Alfred would’ve kissed him if he wasn’t waiting to hear his mom’s reaction.
He waited. And he waited. As he waited, the grin gradually fell away from his face. Alfred hadn’t been expecting anything different, but the way she couldn’t even feign a congratulations hurt.
“Oh,” she finally said. “I suppose you won’t be holding the, uh, ceremony, in a church, will you?”
“I don’t know. Vinny and I haven’t talked about that yet.” He knew they couldn’t get married in the church Alfred had been raised in, and that they couldn’t have a Catholic wedding either. Alfred noticed how she had avoided the word wedding but pretended everything was still fine.
“Will there be a gift registry?”
Alfred frowned. “Like I said, I don’t know. We just got engaged last night.”
“Then why did you call me?” His mom sounded irritated, like she had when he was five and wanted to show her a drawing he did in kindergarten and ran in while she was in the middle of doing work in her home office. That dismissal had hurt at the time, but not as much as telling his mom he was engaged and getting the same kind of reaction as a little kid clamoring for attention while their parent had something more important to focus on.
Alfred shrunk down mentally to that same age. “I just wanted to tell you because you’re my mom. I’m happy, so I thought maybe you’d be happy for me, even if you can’t be proud of me.” Tears were pricking at his eyes, and Alfred bit his lip so his mother couldn’t hear how upset he was. Savino scooted closer, so that he was pressed up against Alfred’s side. He couldn’t be closer without crawling onto Alfred’s lap.
His mother sighed, and she sounded so tired. Tired of him more than anything else. “Alfred, your father and I have been patient about this. We’ve been as tolerant as we can be.”
Alfred laughed miserably. “Sure. Dad won’t even acknowledge Vinny exists, and you tell all your snooty friends that Vinny is my roommate instead of my boyfriend. But you haven’t disowned me yet, so I’m supposed to be grateful, right?”
“There’s no need for you to get so hostile.”
Right. Because it wasn’t hostile for his parents to treat his fiancé like shit and to act like him being in love and happy was something horrible they had to tolerate and be patient about. Alfred bit his tongue to keep those nasty thoughts inside his head, and Savino nuzzled into his neck.
“I’m so sorry she’s doing this to you, caro,” Vinny murmured. Alfred silently kissed the top of his head and listened as his mother started lecturing him again.
“You’re so young. I remember being that age. You think you know everything, but you don’t.”
“I’m older than you were when you married Dad.”
His mother ignored what he said, just like he’d known she would. “I love you, Alfie. And it’s because I love you that I’m trying to help you avoid making a mistake you’ll end up regretting someday.”
Tears were leaking out of his eyes, but Alfred was so angry that his words came out as a growl rather than pathetic blubbering. Vinny deserved better than this bullshit. “Savino is the only person I’ve ever wanted to be with. I told you that two goddamn years ago. He’s been nothing but respectful to you and dad, but you guys never even gave him a chance. He isn’t a mistake, and I don’t regret anything about being with him. The only thing I regret is listening to you put him down for so fucking long.”
“Alfred, that’s—”
“I’m done. Call me when you can at least pretend to love me for who I am, instead of who you want me to be.” Alfred hung up the phone before his mother could say anything else, and Vinny immediately shifted onto his lap and started wiping away the tears from his cheeks.
Alfred sobbed harder at Savino’s kindness. “I hate her. I hate her so much for trying to talk me out of marrying you. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me, and the only reason she can’t see it is because you’re a guy.”
Savino kissed his face and made soothing noises. “I love you so much. I wanted to rip her to shreds the second she made you cry.”
Alfred laughed wetly. “You sound so hot when you say stuff like that.”
Savino rolled his eyes and blushed at the compliment, like he blushed every single time Alfred tried to seduce him, no matter how cheesy his attempt was. “Idiota.”
Alfred surged up to kiss his fiancé, and Savino made a muffled sound of confusion but reciprocated a second later. Vinny was being too adorable and perfect for Alfred to not kiss him, but that wasn’t the only reason. He needed to feel something real, something lasting that wasn’t the rejection of the woman who brought him into this world. Savino’s hands planted on his shoulders, the warm weight of his body on top of him, and the soft pressure of their lips pressed together made Alfred feel safe and loved in a way nothing else could.
By the time they separated, Alfred was no longer crying. He felt significantly calmer as he petted Savino’s hair. “I don’t think I want my parents at the wedding.” It wasn’t a decision he would ever feel completely okay about. In an ideal world, his parents would be there in the front row, crying nostalgic tears as they watched him get married because they were so proud of him. But Alfred didn’t live in an ideal world, and he couldn’t keep pretending that he did.
Savino pressed a tiny kiss to his temple. “If you don’t want them there, then we won’t invite them. We should invite people who can celebrate with us. Unless your parents have a miraculous change of heart, I don’t think that’s gonna happen.”
Alfred scoffed. “If they decided to come, they’d probably act like they were going to my funeral instead of my wedding. Or they’d try to convince me I shouldn’t marry you, and I’d lose it on them a lot worse than I did today.” Alfred had been putting up with his mother’s bullshit for far too long, and he probably would’ve continued to put up with it if she had only been insulting him and not his fiancé. Alfred could take his parents’ disapproval, but he wouldn’t listen to anyone implying that Vinny wasn’t good enough for him.
Savino hummed in consideration. “We shouldn’t tell them until after the fact. Send them a postcard when we’re on our honeymoon and it’s too late for them to do anything about it.”
Alfred chuckled. “That sounds devious. I like it.” He grinned and rubbed his hands up and down Vinny’s thighs. “You should make evil plans more often. It’s sexy as hell.”
Savino snorted in disbelief, but he was grinning in the flattered, flustered way Alfred was so familiar with as he fiddled with the top button of Alfred’s shirt. “Amore, you’re hopeless. You think the way I breathe is sexy.”
“Anyone with working eyes or ears would. Which makes me a pretty lucky guy.” Alfred winked up at him, which he’d learned early on was a good way to flirt with Vinny. He wasn’t really good at this whole flirting thing, since Vinny was the only person he’d ever wanted to flirt with. All he’d ever been able to do was be a little too honest, recite lines from TV or movies, wink, and carry heavy stuff to show off his muscles. Miraculously, his clumsy attempts had actually worked.
They were working pretty well now, obviously, because Savino was leaning in less than an inch away from his mouth. “We’re both lucky, Fredo. Ti amo.”
Hearing that made Alfred weak-kneed even though he was sitting down. When Savino leaned in the rest of the way to kiss him, a shiver swept through him, even though he wasn’t cold. He grabbed at the back of Vinny’s neck and moaned when Vinny licked his way into his mouth. His mother’s reaction to his engagement, along with any other problems he had, ceased to exist as long as his fiancé was kissing him.

10/20/21: last time i wrote here was tues. remember when i said that girl could drop my heart like glass on tile just as easily as she could cherish and protect it? both, ended up happening. on saturday she told me she made up her mind and didn’t want to date. she wasn’t ready for a relationship and she didn’t want to be with me if she wasn’t sure about her feelings. but that she couldn’t stand the idea of losing me and didn’t want things to change. i told her everything had to change and i couldn’t be in her life and pretend i wasn’t falling more in love with her every time i was around her. we cried for a long time. she wouldn’t leave until i told her to go. when she left we both continued to cry on our own for at least an hr. that’s the most numb and terrible and void of human emotion i have felt in a very long time. things were miserable after that. i found out on sunday that she was cutting herself. she walked into our apartment and hugged me even though she knew i needed distance from her and that every time she spoke to me or got close i absolutely could not ignore my feelings. she apologized for breaking down and hugging me and being “selfish”. i made her promise me that she’d stop cutting and that she’d tell our other roommates or i would. i also said i had to leave again. as much as i wanted to stay with her and talk to her forever i can’t be this person for her without considering her more than a friend. i can’t be the most important person in her life without constantly wishing we could be more. so i packed a bag and left. but that night she found where i was and dropped everything she had and grabbed my face and just kissed me. she said when i left the apartment everything became clear and every reason that made a potential relationship an issue just wasn’t a valid reason anymore. she was sure. after over a week of putting me through absolute hell and making me more confused than i’ve ever been in my life, she did something that has now made me the happiest i’ve been in almost a year and a half. i told her that she’s the most confusing person i’ve ever met. after she kissed me we walked in the rain together and held hands for hours. sat on this bridge suspended over a road and kissed. she invited me into her bed the next morning. we kissed and cuddled and she came back and kissed me on the cheek before leaving to work. we talked about it later and she said it felt like we were married and that it didn’t feel weird or forced. i sent her these photos from tumblr of girls making out and she said we should recreate them. we both made playlists that remind us of how we feel when we’re together. i left a surprise post-it note on her laptop screen that she didn’t see until she was at the library, saying she’s beautiful and that i’m grateful for her and that i hoped she had a great day. the next day before she left for work she left a note for me, starting w “hey pretty girl,” and in the note she said she missed me already. we have such a similar sense of humor. the sparkle in her eyes that she gets when she tells a joke she’s proud of is so cute and endearing. and even when i think that something i said was disappointing or not that funny she always seems to like what i say. we made plans to go to a pumpkin patch together. and while long term plans makes her nervous we still discussed the idea of going to paris or tokyo together over spring break. she said it’s nice that her bed smells like me. last night she sipped gin and i did shots and we slept in the same room all night alone for the first time. woke up next to her breathtaking face. we cuddled and kissed and i went to class and then came back and made her breakfast before she had to go to her class. it’s crazy how ur life can go from complete and utter shit to this magical dreamlike fairytale in a matter of seconds

Greetings, fellow fan-person! Welcome to The Fangirl Fulfilled. Please take a look around and find your favorite books, music, and media to fangirl about with me!
The Author: My Testimony
After going to church literally since before I was born, I was saved at dance class when I was nine years old. It was the last week of class, and the teacher gave us the "Jesus talk" at the end of the night, then asked if anyone wanted to pray with her. My hand shot up almost before I realized what was happening; I had been feeling the pull of the Holy Spirit and was almost just waiting for someone to ask me about it. I can specifically remember praying to ask Jesus into my heart, promising to “live for You, and dance for You.” Nothing had ever felt so right.
I started out as a super enthusiastic follower of Christ, but began to lose steam when my attempts to invite my classmates to church were turned down again and again. In middle school I began to face doubt and fear that kept me from sharing my faith and from growing as much as I could have; I even began to doubt my salvation. After recommitting my life at Falls Creek the summer after eighth grade, I continued to try and grow in Him, but I was still relying too much on my own ability to accomplish all the things and be "good enough" and not enough on the grace and power of Christ. This changed starting in eleventh grade, when I met an older and more mature believer who began to mentor and disciple me. That was the point when I really started to grow as a believer. After I graduated high school, I began to seek a community of other believers, and after months of asking and waiting, I finally began to find that at the BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry).
📷I got a selfie with Adam Young at my first ever Owl City concert! Happiest day of my life 🤩
My second semester in college, I went through a season of disappointment and isolation. I auditioned for the dance program at my school and was told, politely, that I did not have enough skill or experience to complete the degree I wanted. This forced me to reconsider everything I had planned for my life for the last ten years or so, and I was understandably shaken up by it. I also felt very alone at that point as my roommate moved out due to health problems and I had few real friends. I came as close in that season as I ever have to being really, truly depressed, and felt that there was no one that I could really talk to about it.
In the midst of that season, however, God began to grow my trust in Him in a very real way. It was as though He was telling me to just be brave enough to trust Him for one more day as I forced myself to complete dance classes that now seemed useless to me and was surrounded by all the people who were "good enough" to complete the program by which I had been rejected. And the way the God communicated this immensely powerful message to me was through my favorite artist in the history of the universe, Adam Young (better known as Owl City).
In the months that followed, more and more of my fandoms (Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and various artists) began to show links to Biblical themes and truths. Things that I already knew, verses that I had memorized years ago, and stories that I could repeat from memory, suddenly took on a new meaning as my brain, and the Holy Spirit, connected them to songs and stories that I had grown to love. Because, deep down, the songs that we sing about our love or loss or longing, the stories we write about adventure or romance or revolution, all point back to God.
The purpose of this blog is simple: to share the connections that I have found between “secular” fandoms and spiritual truths, and to encourage you, my fellow fan-people, to do the same. I pray that the Lord will speak to your heart, whether you believe in Him or not, in ways you never thought possible.
Contents
Here are some of the things you can expect from this blog:
fandom-inspired posts, including art tutorials, bullet journal themes, and more
Bible journaling tutorials and other related content every Wednesday
And the crown jewel, the aforementioned fandom-connected-to-Bible-verse posts 😊
Each week will have a loosely constructed theme around a specific fandom, culminating in the fandom nugget on Friday. I invite you to tune in for the humor and fan art and inspiration during the week, and stay tuned for the deeper content as the end of each week arrives. It is my hope that, at the very least, this blog will change how you view Christianity, whether you're coming here from within or without, and at the most, that it will change your life for the better and for eternity.
Happy fangirling!

Juliet’s always felt like this. She’s always felt like crap, right from the beginning. She’s not entirely sure what caused her to feel bad today, maybe it was the fact that she had woken up at six o’ clock today which would be the third day in a row she’d woken up after the sun had gone down, or maybe it was because she had missed two dance practices and the third was looming over her as she chose to lay in bed in the darkness instead.
With the comeback happening awfully soon Juliet knows she’s disappointing her trainers, she’s disappointing the team, heck, even disappointing the company as Jangmi would say. She wished she could get out of bed but it wasn’t that simple, something was dragging her down, she constantly felt as though she had this weight on her shoulders and no matter what she would do it would never leave her.
As long as she’s known, she's always had this weight. She was hardly the favourite child, never the girlfriend or never even the ‘best’ friend, she always thought she had little to lose. Juliet would care more about her role in life if only she hadn’t realised she was nothing but a downgrade or a placeholder at such a young age, still, she felt weighed down. Lately, the weight had become more and more suffocating and way more harder for her to deal with, like it was pushing her down into a deep river and drowning out any last positive thoughts she could conjure up.
She’s tried all the remedies. She has used her mother’s advice of getting up and out, enjoying the outside world, getting some exercise in but that never worked. She’s tried to find healthy coping mechanisms, art, dancing, singing, but now she’s not even sure if she likes it anymore. This job has taken so much from her. She used to enjoy the rush of performing on stage, the cheers would give her so much adrenaline and the fans always made her day. Now every day is more draining than the last, the choreographies bored her and she could barely muster any energy to sing.
None of those so-called solutions worked, they never did. Even the temporary relief from the bad decisions never lasted as long as she wanted it to, as long as she needed it to. Her hand fell down to her thighs, the scars were faint, a simple reminder of just how much she feels all the time. She has regrets, god she has so many. She can never get back all the dignity she had lost during those months, sometimes she questions if she wants it back. Was her dignity even worth losing? It’s not like she had much of it to start with.
Some days she wishes she just hadn’t run away and auditioned for SM, then maybe she’d still love the things that used to make her happy. Occasionally, she does imagine what her life could have been like if she didn’t audition for SM, for one she thinks her parents would love her a lot more than they do now, not that they’ve ever said it. She could’ve continued down whatever path they chose for her, making them “the happiest parents ever” and her brother wouldn’t have had to carry the burden of fulfilling the family legacy — not that having a baby at the ripe old age of nineteen was really helping that.
She liked to describe her life as a line, a long red line that would twist and knot with every significant moment. To Juliet she felt as though she could just cut the line at any point, no thoughts. Just like the fates, she was Aptropos and she had the shears to decide when things would end. She always thought, what was the point of continuing the line if all that was left were ugly little knots.
“Hey Juliet! Where we–”
She hadn’t realised it until her bedroom door had burst open but she had balled herself up into a corner on her bed, her hands were bunched up in her hair and strands had fallen all around her.
This was probably Juliet’s worst fear, someone seeing her in one of her weakest states. She didn’t want to look up at whoever just came in, simply hoping that they’d leave.
“Are you okay?” It was Yuna. She sounded uncomfortable, she wasn’t sure what she should do, Juliet was clearly not okay, anyone could see that.
The silence was thick between them. Juliet had started shaking, almost rocking back and forth in her corner.
“Juliet?”
“I don’t know what to do,” Juliet’s voice was shaky, “I don’t know what to do.”
“What are you talking about?” Yuna kept her voice soft, quickly closing the bedroom door and rushing over to the bed.
“I-I keep having these th-thoughts and I’m so scared, Leyla.” The last half of her sentence came out more like a choked sob, her English just barely coming out. She had to admit the truth to herself, she’s scared. She’s scared of everything. Every year always seems to add on something worse to the last and she couldn’t take it anymore. She feels hurt, even when she’s not supposed to be. She doesn’t know what to do anymore and she’s afraid of the places her mind can take her.
Yuna’s eyes widened, she had called Yuna by her English name, something she was so sure the other girls had forgotten about. God, Yuna hadn’t heard that name in ages but in all honesty she loved hearing it again and it warmed her heart that Juliet had remembered, even that she had called her that.
She placed her hand on Juliet’s back, finding that she was freezing cold. Yuna was not expecting the face that had greeted her when Juliet looked up. Juliet’s face had been replaced by what looked like the shell of her once bright expression. Her eyes were deep-set and dark, her cheeks hollow and her skin so pale it almost looked like she was dead. Her mind raced as to what could’ve possibly got Juliet to this state, she always seemed so happy.
“It’s okay, this will pass.” She wasn’t sure exactly what to say in this situation, if Juliet’s talking about what she thinks she’s talking about.
“You don’t understand! It won’t!” Tears ran down Juliet’s face like it was nothing, she doesn't even notice them anymore. “Do you know how many times I’ve heard that? How many times I’ve repeated that to myself in hopes that it would come true?” She knows her anger is misplaced, Yuna’s just trying to help, but she can’t help it.
“I’m so tired, Leyla, I just want to go,” Juliet swallowed thickly, “I just want to go to bed and never wake up, I’m tired of living a life that I can’t enjoy.”
“Jules...” Juliet could almost hear the disappointment in her voice, just like everybody else she’s ever dared to tell this to. She drags her eyes away from Yuna’s and down at her duvet, she really didn’t want to know what Yuna was thinking.
“Can I just talk to you? Like just... just words, between us?”
Yuna nods, propping herself up on the bed, shivering as her back touched the cold wall. She pulled Juliet into her, if there was one thing she always knew to do it was to keep her close in her arms.
“Everyone has something they hate, right? Whether it be irrational or not.” Juliet fidgets in her seat, “I don’t know about everyone else but mine’s irrational, so irrational you’d probably think I was disgusting.”
Juliet could just tell Yuna’s chuckle was slightly forced, anyone would try and laugh in what felt like such an uncomfortable silence.
“It’s showering. I hate showering, it’s so... vulnerable and I can’t stand it.” Even she had to laugh just at how pathetic she sounded. “You know I try, I do, I can’t just not shower because that actually would be disgusting and that’s not what I want. It’s just that everytime I think I’m okay I go and have a shower and suddenly every bad thought I’ve ever had comes rushing back.”
Yuna can only nod in understanding.
“Ever since Lyra left I’ve had to drown out silence with anything, usually it would be music but some things I just can’t bear to listen to anymore and it sucks. It’s like everything that happened to her was my fault and I can’t handle it. I can’t be left alone anymore, I can’t and I know this. However, there’s nothing I can do to change that.” Her tears had stopped, instead her head was turned away from Yuna’s, resting against the wall and on top of her arm.
“I feel like whenever I’m around other people I bring destruction, y’know?”
“Oh that’s not true!” Yuna frowned.
“How would you know? No offence but you’ve only been in my life for like a year and a half and clearly you haven’t seen everything.” Juliet scoffs.
This would be the perfect time to tell her about what really happened last year but Juliet quickly decided that that would be another can of worms she’d rather not open. Not now.
“Well that’s gotta stand for something, I mean you haven’t hurt me and I don’t see you doing it in the future.” Yuna’s hopeful, Juliet’s glad that she is but she knows the truth — that she’ll always push those closest to her away until it’s far too late.
“And hey, if you can’t be alone then you don’t have to be!” She squeezed Juliet’s arm, “I’ll always stay by your side and if you get sick of me I can go but I’m always available!”
For the first time in a while Juliet smiled, she genuinely smiled. It was comforting to know Yuna wasn’t going to give up on her, she knew that any of her other members would probably give her the same sentiment but she’d known them for three years and they all had their own shit to deal with, none of them would ever really stick by her side at all times. Of course she had no way of knowing whether Yuna would live up to her words but through the year she’s known her she didn’t think she wouldn’t. Yuna seemed like the sweetest, even back when she watched her on Produce she was only nothing but nice to the other trainees, and she always looked a little lonely around the dorms, she didn’t even have a roommate which wasn’t exactly helpful when moving into a group of six other girls she didn’t know. It wouldn’t hurt for them to bond a little.
She stuck out her pinky finger, “Promise?”
“Promise.” Yuna grinned, locking her pinky into Juliet’s.

TFWB - Chap 3 C-C-C-Changes
Tumblr media
Summary: After a night of whiskey with Jensen, Jared makes a major life change. Characters: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles Pairing: None Warnings: Fluff Word Count: 876 Squared Filled: Nerd AU A/N #1: This is for @spnfluffbingo card
Check out: The Family We Built Masterlist
“Nerd.” Christian called out from the kitchen to Jared.
“Your point? I know I’m a nerd. You asked how I get so many girls’ phone numbers and I answered you.” Jared sat back nursing his beer with a smirk.
Christian came back with two more bottles setting one in front of Jensen, “Jay, do you believe this?”
“I’ve seen it in action. His vast knowledge of classic literature gets him all the girls. My baseball uniform can’t even compete with his brain.” Jensen chuckled seeing Christian’s stunned face.
Jared shrugged, “Try reading a book.”
Christian threw a chip at him, “No thanks, I’ll stick with my guitar. Speaking of, we need to throw a summer bash before you two brainiacs go back to school.”
Over a few more beers the four of them planned out the next big party to celebrate the end of summer. Jared and Jensen were the last two still awake sharing a bottle of whiskey. Jared was deep in thought about his meeting with his academic advisor.
“Whiskey for your thoughts?” Jensen asked, handing the bottle over to him.
Jared took a long drag from the bottle, “I’ve been thinking of switching my major.”
He gave the bottle back to Jensen who took a drink, “And…?”
“And I’m not sure if I can do what I want instead of what is practical.” Jared sat forward running his hand through his shaggy hair.
“Well, you’re pre-med now which I assume is the practical life course. What is the other choice?” Jensen leaned forward placing the bottle on the table in front of them.
Jared opened his mouth to speak but nothing happened. He had never said the words to anybody but his childhood best friend. He never allowed himself the hope of doing what he wanted instead of following his brother’s footsteps.
“Jare, what is it?” Jensen placed his hand on his shoulder.
“Literature. I would love to open my own bookshop one day and even do some book editing on the side.” His voice was barely above a whisper and he did not dare look over to Jensen.
When he did glance over to his roommate he noticed him in deep thought. Jensen looked over, “Can I tell you something that I’ve never told anyone?”
“Of course.”
“I’ve always wanted to write a book. I’ve always loved escaping into books and to be able to write one would be amazing.” Jensen looked down to his hands.
Jared sat there slightly stunned for a moment, “I think you should write your book and for one would love to be the first to read it.”
Jensen smiled letting out a small chuckle, “Well I’m gonna need an editor then.”
Now they both were laughing sitting back into their chairs passing the bottle of whiskey to one another. Even though he fell into a drunken sleep, Jared woke up the next morning with a renewed confidence in the decision he had come too. Now he needed to make one of the toughest phones in his life. Dialing the familiar number he listened to the endless rings until his mom picked up the phone.
“Hi mom,” Jared spent a few minutes making small talk until there was silence between them.
“Jared, is everything okay?” she asked a hint of worry laced through her calm tone.
He took a couple of deep breaths before answering, “Yeah, everything is fine. I’ve just been thinking about my major and the possibility of changing it.”
“Oh, you don’t think you’ll like your med classes?” Now he could hear the relief in her voice.
He shrugged as if she could see him, “I… I don’t think being a doctor or surgeon is the right choice for me. But…”
“I knew there was going to be a but.” His mom’s soft laughter brought a smile to his face.
“But, I don’t want to disappoint you and dad or even Jeff.” He paused as a wave of shame washed over him, “You know what, I’ll just stay in the program. You and dad put so much into it and I should just stay.”
“Jared Padalecki, you stop right there.” His mom’s stern voice had him sitting up straighter in his chair, “You’re going to school to further your life. Not Jeff’s, not your dad’s or mine. You should pursue whatever career you feel you’ll be happiest in. No matter what, we will be proud of you in whatever you pursue.”
Jared let out a long breath that he was holding in his chest. Relief spread throughout his body, “Thank you mom. I love you.”
“I love you too, Jared. Now, tell me all about this new major you’re wanting to go into.” It was one of the best conversations he had with his mom. The only thing that would make it better if she had been there in person to have it.
A couple of weeks later, Jared officially changed his major to English Literature with a minor in Business Administration. That night he spent at his desk mapping out a plan to open his own bookstore. Looking over to his alarm it read three-thirty in the morning and he smiled looking back down at his cover page.

hey lover, won’t you treat me right
you can read this here or on AO3. Enjoy!
---
“Hey, are you still going out tonight with that guy you’ve been talking to?”
Cas looked up from his book. He had been pointedly told that he wasn’t allowed to help with dinner and was sent to read in the living room to ‘stay out of the way and keep Dean company’. Dean was referring to the latest guy Cas had met through online dating, and the latest reason for Cas feeling vaguely guilty about not reciprocating feelings. “Oh, no. I told him I just wanted to be friends.” He frowned, “Don’t put too much tomato in it!”
Dean huffed and waved him off. No one told Dean how to cook, especially something that he’d made a thousand times from scratch. “You didn’t even give him a chance, Cas.”
Cas shrugged,” He was... annoying to say the least. He texted too much. The happiest I was with him was when he was ignoring me or busy.”
“Well, did you tell him that?”
“No, but I know the worst thing is feeling like you’re annoying someone you like, and I didn’t want to put him through that. I texted him last night.” Cas went back to his book. It was one thing to talk about his love life with his best friend and roommate. It was quite another to dive deep into his deep-rooted issue with finding a suitable replacement for... someone he actually wanted.
Especially when that person was currently making spaghetti four feet from him.
“And how did he respond?” Dean asked, staring hard at the vegetable he was dicing.
Cas lowered the book again. “Well, he... hasn’t answered yet.”
Dean looked up from where he was cutting a final tomato with a universal ‘yikes’ expression. It was an unfortunate end to his brief relationship with Patrick, but it had to be said. He’d rather Patrick think he was a bastard now, than lead him on and have Patrick assume they were headed towards mutual love and affection.
“So anyway, I have to assume that he doesn’t really want to be friends then.”
“Hey, Cas, don’t take it too hard. He’s missing out.”
Cas considered, looking up at the ceiling. “I’m not... sad, or anything.”
Dean chuckled. “Heh. Ouch. Tough break for him.”
Cas shrugged, turning back to watch Dean work.
Dean gathered all his chopped vegetables together in a neat pile on the cutting board and transferred them to the pot where he was making sauce in a neat flourish, evident of all the times Dean had been in charge of home-cooked meals. “What was so bad about this guy? Did he smell? Ask you to make a blood pact?
Cas looked away from the tantalizing sight of Dean’s hands. “No, he... wanted to cook me dinner.”
Dean looked up from the pot of spaghetti noodles he was now stirring.
“Oh, you’re right,” Dean said, gesturing with the pasta spoon. “Definitely a good thing you curved him. Absolute lunatic.” He bent over to take a taste of the now-simmering sauce, a soft smile on his face.
“Well! It just... makes me uncomfortable. I mean, he could be a serial killer.” Cas grinned playfully, finally giving up on reading and marking his page to step away.
“Don’t you think if he was going to serial kill you, he’d have done it by now? He’s got a lotta ground to cover. This is LA. He’s gotta move quick if he wants to make even the slightest impression on the LAPD.” Dean nodded towards the fridge where their salad sat. Cas had insisted on a salad to go with the carbo-load that was Dean’s favorite and famous Spaghetti Night. It was a rare thing for Dean to allow so much green at a meal, but Cas was always somehow able to convince him.
“I dunno,” Cas pulled out the salad and turned to the cupboard to start gathering plates. He placed a healthy amount of salad on each, making sure to push it to the side to leave ample room for the absolute heap of pasta Dean would place on each. “He just... he texted me all the time, and he always wanted to know how I’m doing and what I’m up to, and it gets old telling him I’m doing the same old things every time. I don’t do much during the day.”
“Sure you do, yesterday you made that cool greenhouse thing out in the backyard.” Dean was referring to the monstrosity built out of thrifted window panes in the far corner of the yard. Cas had seen the idea online on Friday, and by Saturday was cruising through every yard sale and thrift store in the county looking for windows. The frame was easy to put together once Dean had gotten the drill sorted out. It wasn’t much, but now Cas had a great place to put some of the many plants they had around the house.
Cas shrugged. “Right, but I can’t tell him that. He wouldn’t care, and then I’d have to explain every piece of why we needed one and he wouldn’t want to hear that story.”
“Look, I’m not saying you didn’t do the right thing by being honest with him, but it just sounds like maybe you didn’t like him all that much in the first place if you’re able to be so casual about it.”
“I know,” Cas sighed. “I’ve gotta stop doing this to guys. Before him it was Nate, and Collin. I’m a mess.”
Dean spooned a frankly frightening amount of pasta on a plate. “Nah, you’re not a mess, just a bit careless with your dirty socks. You wanna try some sauce or just butter?”
“No, I’ll try it. You worked so hard on it. A little bit of sauce, please. Not too much.”
Dean smiled and rolled his eyes, dripping the perfect amount of homemade marinara on top of the pile of spaghetti. They sat down to eat and Cas twirled his fork in the noodles. The sauce was great. While the base was tomato, it wasn’t overwhelming or acidic like tomato can get in inexperienced hands. Garlic and mushroom had space in the sauce as well, making it perfectly well-balanced.
Cas stood up. “I’m getting some more sauce, this is really good, Dean.”
“Thank you, pickiest eater in the world. That is a compliment far greater than you know.”
They ate in silence for a few minutes.
Dean piped up with his mouth full. “So, like, what—are you just gonna chalk it up as a loss and move on or what?”
Cas shook his head. “I’m deleting the app, I can’t keep doing this to people when it only serves to piss me off and disappoint other people.”
Silence fell again for a brief moment. “Have you considered maybe it’s not you?”
“Thank you, Dean, but scientifically speaking, it has to be me. I’m the only constant in this string of nearly identical outcomes.” Not much else could explain it. Cas was just... bad at love. Bad at being in a relationship. Bad at getting on with his life.
“Maybe you just need to date better people. Maybe... people you already know?”
Snorting, Cas scooped up the last on his pasta. “Come on, everyone we know that’d be even sort of willing to put with me are already married, have kids, or both.”
“Well, not everyone...” Dean muttered, mostly to himself.
Cas chewed thoughtfully. “I think I just gotta face facts. I’m not built for relationships.”
“Kinda lonely outlook.” Dean wasn’t wrong. They were renting the house together, but that could easily change once Dean found a nice girl or boy or... person to settle down with. He was a good looking guy, good with his hands, nice laugh—it wouldn’t be hard for him at all. Cas could very easily be alone, very easily.
Cas shrugged. “A fact’s a fact. It happens. People grow up and just... never find love. I mean, it’s kinda sad but... I’ve got other things in my life.” That was less true. For all that Dean and Cas got along and had in common, he never understood why Dean was alone and chose to hang out with him so often.
Dean snorted. “I don’t know how much a roommate in a shitty starter home counts for, Cas.
“Well, maybe my purpose here is to make sure that roommate is happy then, yeah?” Cas picked up his dish and set it in the sink. He kept his attention towards the sink, concentrating on filling it with soap and water so he didn’t have to see Dean’s face of pity. He wasn’t sad about it. Not really.
Well, he would probably end up being okay.
Dean pushed back from the table to set his dish in the water by Cas’s hand. He busied himself with the leftover pasta on the stove, pulling a plastic container from the cupboard above the range. Dean would probably insist Cas take it for lunch tomorrow.
“Well, what if the roommate wants something specific to make him happy?” Dean asked, sounding strangely formal.
Cas blinked and turned towards Dean, surprised to see him flushed to the tips of his ears. He squinted.
“What does the roommate want?”
If possible, Dean blushed even harder and ducked his head. How curious. Cas felt a strange tingle in his palms. He had a sudden vision of pressing in close and watching Dean take a surprised breath. He shook his head slightly.
“He—I— uh, heh. A beer is what he wants.” Dean said, face brightening in a way that made Cas squint harder on suspicion. Pasta container in hand, Dean switched around Cas, hiding the fridge for a second. He emerged having swapped the plastic container for two beers, one of which he offered to Cas. Hands still wet, Cas gestured for Dean to sit the bottle down to the side of the sink. Dean popped his open, took a swig, and set it down next to Cas’s beer. He picked up a dish towel and got to drying. Together, they steadily and silently cleared the table and counter of all the dishes, leaving their little kitchen tidy once again.
Afterwards, Dean plucked his beer from the counter and took another sip. Cas cracked the lid off of his and did the same. He leaned against the sink and tilted his head as he considered Dean. He was still a bit pink and he wasn’t looking at Cas... or anything really in particular.
“Dean... are you feeling alright?” He almost looked nervous.
Dean blinked. “Huh? Oh yeah, just... thinkin’.”
“Careful with that.” Cas teased.
Deans mouth quirked up in a half smile before falling back to his thoughtful expression.
“Cas, you really think you’re gonna end up alone?”
Oh. Dean was worried he’d have to be saddled with Cas forever. “I dunno. I’m mostly over-dramatic. It’s not looking good right now, though. Kind of a downer.”
“But I mean, you’re young still. Plenty of time to settle down with someone.” Shit, he really did look worried. Maybe he was worried about his own prospects, being single at their age as well.
“Dean, if you’re secretly worried about yourself we can go to a bar or something. I’m not overly concerned about it—“
Dean wasn’t done and talked over him. “And you’re a great guy, you’re smart and funny and... you’ve got nice hair,” Dean finished haltingly. “I just think you’re selling yourself a bit short is all.”
Cas blinked, feeling a slight flush on his cheeks. “Well, thanks but I think the real issue is more with my shockingly horrendous commitment issues and all that.”
They drank in silence, steadily ignoring the other. All this silence tonight was starting to get deafening in Cas’s professional opinion. He was about to open his mouth and change the subject when Dean did just that. “Did this guy... what’s his name?”
“Patrick.”
“Did Patrick ever kiss you?” This question caused Cas to pause. It was an innocent enough question, but the way Dean asked—anxious eyes, and twitchy fingers—like he didn’t really want to ask but was dying to know.
Cas had to tread carefully here, as to not pull too quickly. He might be unsure with guys he met online, but it there was one man he’d climb like a tree with no second thoughts or regrets, it was the one standing in front of him, distractedly shredding the artisanal label off his beer bottle.
“Oh I’d never let him get the chance. Too weird.” He silently dared Dean to call his bluff.
Dean sighed and looked up at Cas, expression guarded. He set his beer down on the table behind him and took a step towards Cas. The tingle in his palms kicked up, spreading up his arms and across his chest, flooding up his neck and to his ears.
“And you know, right away? Who you’d like to kiss?” Dean asked like there was any possible way Cas would turn him down.
“I—definitely. I know within the first half hour of meeting someone if I’d like to—like to kiss them.” Even Cas was stumbling now. He didn’t dare move and shatter this strange, wonderful moment.
Dean was close now. Close enough to see the apprehension in his eyes and catch the subtle tremble in his fingers, hanging loose by his sides.
“Does that feeling ever change?”
“No, once it’s there, it’s all I can think about.” Cas’s gaze tripped between Dean’s mouth and his eyes. Everything was buzzing now. He still wasn’t entirely sure what was happening, but he knew things weren’t like this with Patrick. Or Nate. Or anyone else he had been on a date with.
It was special for Dean.
Their chests were nearly touching now. Dean was so close. The heat coming off him was incredible, and Cas wanted nothing more than to get closer.
“Me too,” Dean murmured. “Once I want to kiss someone, it’s all I can think about, too.”
Cas often though about how green Dean’s eyes were, sometimes annoyingly and distractedly often, but now that they were boring into his, it was hard to think about anything else.
Except maybe his mouth. Or his hands, slowly coming up. Shit, this was going exactly where he thought it was. Right here in their shared kitchen.
“I’m gonna kiss you, Cas,” Dean said, drawing in a breath. “And if it’s not what you want, we can pretend it never happened. I won’t make it weird, I promise. I just have to—“
Cas pushed up to press his mouth against Dean’s, hands coming up to fit along his jaw. He watched Dean’s eyes flutter shut before closing his own. Dean gripped his t-shirt before sliding his hands around and up his back. Their lips moved together, pulling and giving back, wet heat between them. He pulled back after a second, an audible smack when they parted.
“I don’t want to push too far—“
“Dean Winchester, kiss me again. Please. It’s good.”
Dean grinned and yanked him back in by his collar, pressing him back into the counter. Cas felt the frenzy build, and he pushed his tongue into Dean’s mouth. Dean sucked on the tip of it, before reaching up to press thumbs to the bolt of Cas’s jaw, opening it further. Cas reached down and slipped his fingers back down into Dean’s back pockets, hauling him closer.
When they finally had to surface for air, they were both grinning.
“That wasn’t weird, right?” Dean had the audacity to ask, breathlessly.
“Definitely weird.” Cas answered, cheekily.
“You’re not gonna ask to be just friends later, right?” Dean sounded like he was mostly kidding but with a touch of real anxiety behind it.
“No, but suddenly it makes sense why everyone else didn’t compare.” Cas said, pressing a smooch to the side of Dean’s jaw. “You’re not just doing this because you feel bad for me?”
Dean rolled his eyes and smacked Cas on the ass. “Been wanting to do that since I met you, dummy. I’m glad we had this chance to finally straighten out that I’m the only one for you.”
“Yeah, probably.” Cas whispered. “Wanna go make out on the couch?”
Dean smiled.

Something Sweet: Part Five
~sweeter shifts~
one ~ two ~ three ~ four ~ five ~ six ~ seven ~ eight ~ nine
pairing: minsung, jisung/minho
warning: mild language
words: 2k ish
summary: That feeling you get when your friend visits you at work? yeah that. Thats all this is...
a/n: Its been a little rough, but heres a short chapter i hope u enjoy <3
 -----------
Felix stood behind the counter at the convenience store on the corner of two intersecting districts. He was a few hours into his overnight shift. Usually he could do homework on these late nights, but with it being summer, he found himself antsy and daydreaming his shift away. His brain was busy re-running his dance routines for upcoming performances and auditions that he had been working on, as customers periodically filtered in the store.
Not many customers came in other than the few students pulling all-nighters and night shift workers coming in for a bite to eat. Felix had begun to recognize a few faces as some had solidified themselves as regulars.
A black hooded figure came in close to 3am. Even though Felix had never really seen much of the guy's face he recognized the black hoodie and mask wearing guy as a regular around his late night shifts. He was interesting, not like the obvious tired student of the late night business worker. He had no idea what it was that brought him to the convenience store at the ungodly hours of the morning.
Felix always liked to make guesses as to what lives his especially mysterious customers lived. He had already imagined the black hoodied regular as a b-list idol group member. Then a gym instructor, but mostly due to the one time he came in with a cut off shirt and Felix was taken aback by the size of the man’s arms. Most recently he imagined that the other could’ve been a bartender, because of the pretty consistent time he arrives in the late am on weekends.
This random Thursday night though, the dark figure, back in his usual hoodie, gathered various energy drinks and cup ramens from the back shelves, and brought them out to the check out.
“Is this all for tonight?”
“Oh yeah thats all”
Felix began ringing up his purchases when the other spoke up suddenly.
“We’ve met before, I’m not crazy or anything right?”
“Huh?” Felix looked up confused as the man usually seldom said anything during his late night purchases.
“Yeah I thought I recognized your name, You’re Minho”s, Jisung’s friend’s, roommate, right?” Felix nodded in return but the confused look on his face sparked the other to remember that he was wearing a mask and hat that covered most of his features. Removing the mask revealed that behind it were the sharp features of Changbin, one of three artists that formed 3RACHA, that Yes, Felix had actually just met that past weekend.
Felix’s eyes widened at the sudden realization that one of his regulars was actually a member of his favorite group of artists. ‘Holy fucking shit, I am actually blind, godamn it Felix’
“Y-Yes, thats me. Sorry I didn't recognize you, I-uh didn’t realize that you, were uh- you.” ‘Smooth Lix wow’
Changbin chuckled at the freckled boys stutter. “That’s alright, I tend to forget that I'm wearing my mask sometimes. Anyway I recognized you when you were dancing last weekend, and when you had introduced yourself.” Felix was trying his best to internalize his anxious starstruck feelings. “We watched your performance, and I was trying to find a day to come here and tell you that your crew’s performance was really good.”
Okay yeah that was it, Felix’s eyes were practically falling out of his head with how wide his expression was. “Really? You liked it? That’s really awesome. Thank you so much. That really means a lot coming from you not gonna lie.” Felix’s pride for his crew was nothing small and the validation and praise from someone he is a fan of himself, makes his heart soar.
The smile on his face is so wide and genuine and the light that flickers in his eyes lit up the whole store, even in the middle of the night. Changbin thought that his smile felt something like sunshine, and reminded him of the warmth Jisung emitted when he was at his happiest, but of course he would never tell the other that. Changbin caught himself smiling back involuntarily.
“Yeah, we’ll have to come watch you guys again sometime.”
Felix nodded vigorously at that and finished checking out the items the older had brought to the counter. Neither of the twos smiles seemed to completely fade from their faces.
“Thank you Felix-ssi, have a good night.”
“You too!” Felix replied and bowed respectively to the older.
Changbin replaced the mask on his face but found himself still smiling at the encounter with the boy as he walked bac home.

“Alright, I’ll put that right in for you. I hope you enjoy your cocktails in the mean time.” Minho flashes his sickening sweet server smile at the couple, before heading to his station to input the orders. There had been a steady flow of customers at Menu 98 keeping Minho busy for his dinner shift. Thankful to not be closing, Minho was doing his best to maintain his polite persona without glancing at his watch too often. Time always passed slower, when he found himself counting his hours.
Before moving on to check on a previous table, Seungmin waves him down letting him know he has a new table to wait, but not before catching his arm. Usually he would find a Seungmin attached to his elbow if the other wanted to share some gossip about a recent customer, or something of the sort. Expecting the same Minho’s ears peaked with interest.
“You got a new table.” That’s unsurprising. “And they’re asking specifically for you.” That’s more surprising.
“Wait, what?”
“I don't know, you tell me. Any rich, wide-eyed, twenty-somethings, you forgot to tell me about, hyung?”
Minho thought the eyebrow raise from the younger was a little much given the circumstances. The few seconds of silence that pass between them gave Seungmin all the information he was looking for but a sigh still escapes his lips at the stubbornness of the other.
“Well one, Han Jisung, is waiting in section B for you.” Seungmin scurries off to return to the front, a suspicious look in his expression. Minho hadn’t really brought up much of his personal life to Seungmin, but the host hadn’t stopped his prodding ever since he had turned up to work, as Seungmin says it, glowing and smiling like a newlywed. Minho wasn’t sure if he was actually acting much different since beginning to talk to Jisung, but apparently the shift in his mood was enough to confirm to his coworker that something was up. Minho already knew that Seungmin would have a field day if he found out that he had actually first met Jisung at the restaurant and hadn’t told him. But keeping his work friend on his toes, spices up his otherwise monotonous job.
---
“Good evening sir, would you like to order any appetizers or drinks to start off?” Minho found himself instinctually throwing on his polite grin and playing the part of a perfect waiter. Well, at least for the time being.
“Hm idk Min-hyung, you ordered for me last time, got any suggestions.” Jisung, seemingly unphased by Minho’s generic opening line, barely looked up from the menu as the older had approached him. Being sure to make direct eye contact, Jisung then smiled cheekily, “but I think we both know I didn’t come here for the fancy food and fruity drinks.”
Minho tried not to roll his eyes too obviously, as his smile morphed into a smirk to match the younger’s, “Perhaps, but if you don't order anything, I'll have to ask you to leave, because sadly, you can not pay just to look at my pretty face.”
“That's a shame I would've ordered five hours of that up front if it was on the menu.” The chuckle coming from Minho was enough to already ease the nerves that Jisung had been feeling since he last saw him.
“Well, Lucky for me, sad for you, I’m not working for five more hours, sorry to disappoint.”
“When do you get off then kind sir?” The goofy voice he used brought back the smile he had been aching to see, and made any of the embarrassment he may have felt worth it.
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”
“I would yes.” JIsung smiled, batting his eyelashes, a part of him knew it probably wouldn’t be that easy.
“Well not to worry, it looks like I can start you off with some water, and complimentary sides, while I give you some more time to look over the menu.”
“Hyung wai-” Minho walked off but not before sending a subtle wink the other’s way. Jisung ears may or may not have turned bright red, but thankfully, there was no one there to tease this time.
---
Jisung ended up ordering another one of Minho’s suggestions, this time it was a marinated sea bass filet that came with a similar fried potato side to the burger he had chosen the first time. Although the fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned, to Jisung it still felt like a fancy version of fish and chips. Minho had giggled at that when Jisung suggested they rename it some bass-related pun, ‘for the kids, ya know.’
“So are you going to tell me how what time you get off, or are really gonna let my dumb ass sit outside the restaurant and wait for how many hours it is until you’re done”
Minho laughed at the image of Jisung waiting for him like a stray outside. “Tempting I'm not gonna lie, but It's not for much longer. AND if you're interested there's a bar next door that may or may not be my usual after dinner shift destination.”
Jisung couldn’t help but smile at that. “REally? That sounds great.” He couldn’t lie that he had spent most of his free time thinking about when he could see MInho next. Probably not the best timing granted that 3RACHA has been busy preparing for their album debut, but a part of him couldn't help but feel all warm inside at the prospect of getting to know Minho better in person.
“Okay, well then i'll see you there? Yeah?”
Minho nods gently with his own giddy smile to match.
The infamous heart-shaped grin was in its full form once Minho had suggested their next meeting place, and Minho could feel his heart leaping at that happiness that Jisung’s smile emitted. Jisung about leaped out of his chair after paying. Practically dancing his way next door to said bar, and for the first time that week Jisung felt like a song was writing itself in his head.
---
“It's him isn't it”
“Who?”
“The reason that your smiling so much, but like actually, not that dead inside expression you give me when I tell you ‘cheer up’”
“Hmmm” Minho’s ability to play dumb? Top tier. Sadly Minho’s ability to lie to Seungmin? Absolute trash.
“Come on Hyung! Just tell me!!!” Seungmin was exasperated. This wasn’t the first time he had confronted Minho about what was going on, and maybe one too many times had resulted in Minho’s signature move, the ‘I don’t want to tell you, so instead will change the subject’.
Fine. “HMM hmmmmmmm….ok….maybe we’ve been talking for a while-”
“OH MY GOD FINALLY! I knew it as soon as he walked in the door. He was all heart-eyes asking for you, and for when you get off.”
“Wait, did you tell him when my shift was over?”
“God no, that's gotta be against some employee code.”
“Oh okay good.”
“But you're off now anyways right? Is he going to wait for you? Are you going out- oh my god he's definitely waiting for you. Have you seen how much he tipped? You sure he isn't some bizarre 20 year old sugar daddy?”
“Seungmin!”
“Okay Sorry, I'm just excited for you. You never tell me anything. All I know about you is that you’re a dancer and you worked in a bar before here.”
“Its was a host bar actually”
“Wait what?!”
“Well, if you look at the time. As you’ve said I have a sugar daddy waiting for me, bye bye now”
“Wait hyung what the fuck!”

Loaded Weapon Part 1
Tumblr media
OH MY GOSH IT’s HERE, AFTER MONTHS I FINALLY FINISHED IT AFTER IT SAT IN THE DRAFTS FOR HOWEVER lONG.
Description: (Steve Harrington x Reader ) Still working on this description****
SEQUEL TO TRAINED WEAPON CLICK HERE FOR MASTERLIST
You walked around the shop glancing through the piles of clothes on the racks, you look up and Joyce does too giving you a small smile from a few isles over as she looked for a shirt for Will. The song Jingle Bell Rock was playing softly in the background as you both looked around each of the clothes racks, Joyce asked you to come shopping with her last week only because she knew you’d be the only one to keep what she got for the boys and El a secret.
Christmas was something you still didn’t know how to feel about, you couldn’t remember much about Christmas before you got taken to the lab. Then when you were there you spent it in complete solidarity as everyone in the lab would go home to their own families, the only thing you could remember about Christmas was the tree your parents had right in front of the window. It was a big tree covered in colorful ornaments, some of them you handmade with your parents and it was in front of the big open window of your house, the last vivid memory you had of Christmas  was sitting on the couch looking out the window as the snow fell outside so peacefully.
‘’Y/N?’’ You hear Joyce call out to you.
You snap out of your distant memory wanting nothing more than to relive what at the time you couldn’t understand but now you longed for. ‘’Yeah?’’ You ask her taking a drink of your soda, ‘’Sorry got lost for a second.’’ You apologize.
‘‘It’s okay,’‘ She assures you. ‘‘Did you want to get anything?’‘
You glance around the racks of clothes and don’t really see anything that you were interested in, Joyce took you shopping for some clothes a few months back when you were settling in, you didn’t get too much but it was enough to last you the cold months. You got a bunch of sweaters wanting to feel comfortable and warm, today you were wearing a pink crewneck sweater and your big winter coat that helped with the bitter cold outside. Moving up north to the more Urban part of New York was a bit of an adjustment you were only 30 minutes away from the city and in Joyce’s mind that meant less likely of a chance for anything to happen to us.
You only got to experience Hawkins for a short period of time but you quickly found out that it was the people that made Hawkins feel like a home to you. You still had part of that family you had grown to love but it still felt as if a part was missing.
‘‘I don’t really see anything I like,’‘ You admit to her.
‘‘What about...’‘ She trails off a hint of a smile on her face and you roll your eyes holding back a smile, ‘’Steve?’’ She finally says his name.
You shake your head and laugh at her, she for sure knew how to get information when she needed it, ‘’I already made Steve something! Jonathan helped me!’’ You tell her and she smiles nodding her head.
‘‘Oh really?’‘ She questions sounding a little shocked. ‘‘And what did he help you make?’‘ She asks.
‘‘I made Steve a cassette of songs that made me think of him, Jonathan said that would be good and he said he made Nancy one too!’‘ You tell her honestly excited for him to hear it. ‘’Do you think he’ll like it?’’ You ask still slightly nervous since it was your first gift to him.
She smiles at you knowingly, ‘’He’ll love it,’’ She says.
Love, that was the word that seemingly always came to mind when you thought of Steve. It had been months since you had seen him and a few weeks since you last talked to him. He had the job at Family Video and seemingly got more busy every time you called him, it didn’t bother you but you missed hearing his voice. Some nights everyone would yell at you to get off the phone after talking to him, you could hear how disappointed he sounded when you said your goodbyes and you couldn’t blame him.
‘‘I think I’m done now! Ready to head back?’‘ Joyce asks and you nod following behind her clutching your coat to your body.
About fifteen minutes later you arrived back ‘home’ it was a small house like the one in Hawkins. Joyce had her own room but you and El had to share one room as well as Jonathan and Will, having El as your roommate made it that much easier for her to help you gain control over your abilities. She had helped you learn how to control the amount of energy you used and how to channel it at full force, she told you to think of something that made you mad and a single thought came to mind, the lab.
El was sitting on her stomach her feet crossed behind her as he Will and Jonathan watched TV, Joyce came in behind you and stared at the scene in front of her, ‘’I thought I told you guys no TV after eight?’’ She asks.
Will glances at his watch and then back to his mom, ‘’It’s seven thirty?’’ He says laughing and then Joyce widens her eyes realizing it was still so early.
‘‘Oh,’‘ She says and then laughs, ‘‘Well we have a long drive tomorrow and I need you guys to help me stay awake!’‘ She tells everyone and we all nod back at her.
An hour later you were sitting on your bedroom floor blindfolded with the static radio behind you. El was sitting cross legged in front of you talking to you trying to guide you, ‘’Think of something happy today, something from when you were younger..’’ She trails off.
Your reminded of the distant memory today about the Christmas tree that you thought of at the mall. You smile excited for this memory to come back and hopefully it would you take a deep breath and then everything goes black.
White snow fell around you and you smile, you turn around looking for any sign of the distant memory and you stop short seeing a Christmas tree. It was decorated and had colorful lights wound around it and you saw the much smaller child version of you looking up at it. You walk over closer hearing your own footsteps as you do and when you walk around the Christmas tree your greeted with another view.
You sat on the couch staring out a window although you couldn’t picture the actual view from your house the child version of you seemed so amazed by the tree. This was a calm moment you remember, you don’t know why you woke up and decided to just be with yourself but you did, even at a young age your alone time was something you valued.
You close your eyes wanting the next few minutes of the memory to hurry past and then it does. You sat on the couch still but this time you could see yourself smiling the way a child does when their parents catch them doing something odd but funny. ‘’What are you doing out here all by yourself pumpkin?’’ You hear your dad’s worn out voice.
‘’Just looking,’’ You say simply looking back at the tree.
‘‘Mind if I just look with you?’‘ He asks and you nod your head. He comes over and sits down next to you and you sat under his arm cuddled into his side as you did exactly what you said you just looked. You sat for a few moments in silence just basking in the cold winter day, the presents under the tree still hadn’t been opened and you were in no rush because when your a kid you have all the time in the world or so you thought.
‘’What are you two goofballs doing?’’ You hear your moms gentle voice from the doorway. You and your dad both look over at her and she has an amused grin on her face, your dad looks back at you his eyes wide until he lets out a hearty laugh making you laugh too squirming at the question.
‘‘Nothing,’‘ You say innocently.
‘‘I’ve been standing here long enough to know that you both are in fact doing nothing.’‘ She says laughing walking over taking a seat on the other side of you, both your parents lean over your head and kiss and you let out a squeal. ‘’What?’’ Your mom says with an amused grin but you just smile at her not answering her question. ‘’You’re silly.’’ She says. ‘’Now what were you two doing in here?’’ She asks looking straight at the Christmas tree a confused look on her face. ‘’Oh I see! The tree is crooked!’’ She points out.
Your dad lets out a huff of air, ‘’No,’’ He says sounding unimpressed. ‘’We,’’ He emphasizes, ‘’Were just looking,’’ He says turning his head back to the tree.
‘‘Just looking?’‘ Your mom questions. You look up at her as she looks down at you smiling, ‘‘Sounds fun,’‘ She says turning her head a hint of a smile still on he face as she stared out the window with you and your dad. This was one of the moments you felt most safe, you were in the arms of the two people you loved the most and it was a blissful moment and now it was just a memory and you wonder if you would ever feel that safe again, you wonder if you would ever feel that loved again.
You watched for a few more minutes the silence was comforting and watching you in one of your fondest memories, one of the happiest times in your life gave you a sense of comfort. It showed you that your life wasn’t all pain and suffering, but you couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness that only two years later this would all be ripped from you and you wouldn’t even see it coming, nobody would.
It seemed as if you blinked and the memory went away and you were left alone surrounded by black, and then you felt your breath hitch hearing a blood curdling scream, ‘’No! Not my baby!’’ You can hear your moms voice scream and then you realize that once again your vision had drifted, it was something you were trying to work on but it still occurred. No matter what you focused on bad thoughts, thoughts of the lab or being taken always seemed to come into view. El had worked hard trying to help you avoid this but it seemed as if you were broken you were never going to be able to get it down.
You continue to hear the screaming and before you can watch the scene unfold before you for what felt like the millionth time you rip off the blindfold in frustration.
‘‘Gosh,’‘ You groan seeing El look at you sympathetically. ‘‘There’s something wrong with me.’‘ You pout to her.
‘‘No, you just have to focus.’‘ She encourages you.
You sigh, ‘’All I do is focus, I don’t want to see that so why would I focus on it?’’ You ask her, you knew you had a point and you fall back laying on the ground folding your hands over your stomach. ‘’I just want to do it right one time.’’ You say out loud just to say it.
‘‘And you will, we still have a lot of stuff to work on,’‘ She tells you. ‘‘How about we do the thing?’‘ She says and you could practically picture the mischievous  grin on her face even before you pushed yourself up to your elbows already smiling.
‘’We shouldn’t,’‘ You tell her, it was an invasion of privacy but she said her and Max did it for fun and you had only done it twice but when you did it was hilarious. ‘‘But I need some cheering up so lets do it!’‘ You say laughing. El smiles getting up getting the wheel out of the closet and puts it down on the floor in between you both. She gestures for you to spin it so you take your hand flicking the pointer and wait for it to land on a name, you wait and watch as it slows down landing right on Steve’s name and you look at El wide eyed as she hold her hand over her mouth trying to hold in her laughter. ‘’No!’’ You groan laughing.
‘‘Yes!’‘ She encourages handing you the blindfold. ‘‘You have to!’‘ She says and you take the blindfold from her laughing, you once again pull the blindfold over your head tying it securely. You lift it up looking at El once more giving her a skeptical look as if saying should I really do this. ‘‘Go on,’‘ She gestures excitedly.
You sigh putting the blind fold back over your eye and start to think of the familiar brown eyed boy with the great hair.
You were surrounded by black the water at your feet and then suddenly you were blinded by a light and you put your hand in front of your eyes trying to shield yourself from the light. You scrunch your face up in confusion as you try move out of the area surrounded by the light and to the side noticing the car right away.
You walk toward it peeking inside noticing Steve first and then a brunette girl sitting next to him his arm around her. You watched confused as to what was happening, Steve had her cuddled into his side as they looked forward and then he turned to her saying something to make her left, you seemed to have a now permanent scowl upon your face. You knew that being away from each other would be hard and you didn’t know what to expect from the whole moving away situation but Steve and you had barely talked in the past few months and it was mostly on his account because he always seemed busy.
‘‘We should do this again sometime?’‘ The girl asks him and he looks at her and gives her his million dollar smile.
‘‘Of course!’‘ He says eagerly.
This time you rip off the blindfold not out of anger and frustration but out of annoyance, was this why he stopped talking to you?’
‘‘What’s wrong?’‘ El asks you as you take the blindfold off. You just scrunch your face up in both confusion and disgust. ‘’What happened?’’ She asks sounding kind of nervous.
‘‘He was with some girl?’‘ You say just as confused as you sounded.
‘‘A girl?’‘ She asks.
‘‘Yeah,’‘ You reply feeling disappointed. ‘‘Is that his girlfriend?’‘ You ask her and she shrugs her shoulder not seeming sure. ‘‘That was a bad idea,’‘ You tell her realizing one it was an invasion of privacy and two not you were upset.
‘‘I’m sorry,’‘ She tells you.
‘‘Lets just go to bed,’‘ You push yourself up off the floor and into your twin bed. You sigh when you get under the covers wanting answers, did you do something to make him stop talking to you? Did you stay gone for too long? Joyce told you after the first few times that he missed your calls that sometimes people just grow apart especially being so far away from each other. You were sad but now you felt like that was true you had been gone too long and that made Steve bored, now he was onto something new. Hell, he didn’t even know you were coming home you didn’t even get the chance to tell him, now you were wondering if he would even care.
______
It was later in the day when you finally arrived back in Hawkins, you sat in the passenger seat of Jonathan’s car as you begin to notice small things about the town that you could remember. You passed the general store where Joyce use to work and the movie theatre where you went to see ‘’The Apartment’’ which was funny even when you didn’t understand some references, you smile at the memory.
‘‘What are you smiling for?’‘ Jonathan asks glancing over at you a small smile on his face as well, you knew he was excited to see Nancy after so long.
‘’I’m just excited to be back,’’ You say looking out the window again, ‘’Are you?’’ You ask him.
‘‘Yeah, I am.’‘ He says simply adjusting his body in the seat, he had been driving for almost ten hours he was probably uncomfortable. ‘‘You’ve been quiet most of the ride here, are you sure you’re just excited to be back?’‘ He asks.
You put your hands in your lap and play with bracelet that was on your wrist, ‘’I guess I am a little nervous,’’ You admit to him, over the past few months you and Jonathan had grown somewhat closer just because you were so close in age. ‘’Steve was out with a girl I think,’’ You tell him.
‘‘Did you and El do the thing?’‘ He asks sighing. You nod your head and look over at him an innocent smile on your face, ‘‘That’s such an invasion of privacy,’‘ He says laughing softly. ‘‘So you saw him out with another girl then?’‘ He asks.
‘‘I mean yeah, I feel bad but maybe it was a mistake or something right?’‘ You glance over at him and he shifts in his seat uncomfortably. ‘’What was he like in highschool?’’ You ask Jonathan.
‘‘Uh,’‘ He hesitates, ‘’I don’t think I should-’‘ He begins to say but you interrupt him quickly.
‘‘Come on Jonathan,’‘ You pout to him, ‘‘Just tell me!’‘ You tell him.
‘‘Fine,’‘ He pauses. ‘‘Being completely honest here, Steve was kind of an asshole in hight school.’‘ He says and you furrow your eyebrows, ‘‘Obviously he was a huge ladies man, but once him and Nancy started you know-’’ He coughs obviously not wanting to talk about the guy that use to date his girlfriend. ‘’He changed a lot, was really trying with her and just things with me and her worked out better and-’’ He pauses. ‘’You know most of the rest, he started hanging out with Dustin and you were there for the rest.’’ He says.
‘’Do you think he forgot about me? That’s why he hasn’t kept in touch?’’ You ask him and Jonathan laughs.
‘’You know you’re not that easy to forget right?’’ He says, ‘‘You make an impression,’‘ He tells you.
‘‘Thanks Jonathan,’‘ You smile at him gratefully.
A few minutes later you pull around the corner and spot the hotel and there stood the rest of the gang. Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and Max all sat on the sidewalk of the hotel entrance there bikes scattered next to them Nancy was standing up next to them her arms crossed over her chest, you watch the excitement on their face as the car rolls into the parking lot all of them immediately standing up. You saw El and Will practically jump out of the car and Jonathan pulls to a stop and putting the car in park and turning it off. He gets out of the car quickly and Nancy smiles running over meeting him halfway enveloping him in a hug. You get out of the car slower than the rest wanting everyone to have their moment, Dustin spots you and immediately breaks out into a wide smile.
‘‘Y/N!’‘ He yells running over to you giving you a hug.
‘‘Dustin!’‘ You yell back at him, ‘‘I missed you!’‘ You admit to him, a lot actually,’‘ You say pulling away from the hug.
‘‘I have something I want you to try when you feel up to it, I know you said you and El were working together helping you- you know,’‘ He says making a gesture with his eyebrow. Before you knew it Dustin was going into a long detailed rant of something he wanted you to try with your abilities, ‘‘And then we could-’‘ He continues.
‘‘Dustin,’‘ You interrupt him. ‘‘We’re here for a whole month we will find time.’‘ You laugh.
‘‘That’s not long enough,’’ He admits.
After that El and Mike, Lucas, and Max all come over they all greet you happily. When you saw Max you felt as if the wind had been knocked out of you, the last two times you saw her she was crying and one of the reasons was the death of Billy, the guy you couldn’t save. That had been a recurring thought you had over the course of the past six months, and sometimes you had nightmares about that night not being able to save him. What life was he going to live? What would’ve happened if he had lived?
Sometimes the thoughts were too much.
‘‘It’s cold come in!’‘ Joyce yells continuing to grab bags out of the car.
A few minutes later you all sat in a hotel room, Jonathan was staying at the Wheeler house but you were unsure as to if her parents knew about that. The kids all sat on the floor catching Will, El and you up to date.
When Steve’s name came up you watch Dustin hit Mike in the chest, ‘’What?’’ Mike yells at him.
Dustin’s eyes go wide and then he looks up to you giving you a smile. ‘’You can talk about Steve, you know?’’ You laugh.
‘’He uh- got a girlfriend.’‘ Dustin mentions to you. You smile trying to hide your disappointment, ‘’They met at the video store.’’ Dustin explains. ‘’You’re way cooler though,’’ Dustin says.
You let out a laugh shifting on the bed, ‘’Good for him,’’ You manage to get out. ‘’I’m gonna go brush my teeth,’’ You say, Joyce glances at you from her bed and you give her a small smile, she knew you well enough now to know you were a little disappointed.
‘‘A girlfriend?’‘ You hear El begin to question them, you shut the door before you could hear anymore. After a few minutes you come out honestly ready to go to bed. When you come back out all eyes go to you immediately, ‘’Tell her,’’ El says gesturing to Dustin.
‘‘While you were gone we did something,’‘ He says gesturing to everyone, you look at him confused. ‘‘We found your parents Y/N.’‘ He says and the only thing you could do was stare at him in shock.

Tumblr media
All my covers have Insomniac because it was made when I had my previous account!
Summary: in which Mark, the goofy general surgeon tries but always fails at flirting with a nurse.
Pairings: doctor!mark × fem reader
Genre: fluff!
A/N: hello lovelies! Again, I’m really sorry I haven’t been active. This year has been really tough for me because I lost two very important people in my family. I FINALLY wrote Dr Mark and here it is. I hope you enjoy :))
• Mark is a general surgeon!
• Handsome doctors gang!
• Won’t hesitate to rap during surgery
• He’s really good at it
• “OH SHIT, OH YEAH WE’RE STITCHIN THIS!”
• Okay I’m sorry I literally don’t know how to sing or rap so writing it is hard ;-;
• Anyways,
• He’s literally so goofy it’s adorable
• OH AND HE HAS THE CUTEST SMILES I WANNA SQUISH
• He’s the youngest general surgeon in the hospital
• Many patients were actually shocked at how young Mark was
• His best friends are literally everything to him
• He’ll do anything for them
• “Hyung, I don’t care if it’s hard to achieve. You can do it and I’m with you till the end.”
• he usually doesn’t know what to do when someone is sad.
• “and I was like- oh my god. Why are you crying? What did I do? What did you do? Oh no please don’t curl up on the floor. OH MY GOD NO”
• Usually he’d let the person cry it out before asking them about it
• LISTENER!
• “I don’t know how to give advice or help but I can give you a hug and head pats if that helps?”
• oH IT DOES HELP
• Mark fits in everywhere
• Tell one joke, and suddenly both of you are in a bar in Gangnam sharing secrets
• HE’S SO EASILY ENTERTAINED ITS SO CUTE SGSGAHAV
• Like say anything and he won’t stop laughing and clapping like I’m crai mark is so precious
• “BHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD JOHNNY” “I just coughed but okay.”
• Yo, imagine best friend Mark Lee
• THAT WOULD BE SO FUN
• Anyways,
• One time his department got him a basket of watermelons and he was so touched he started hugging the watermelons on the ground while crying
• He admires all of his older brothers like
• *bites fist, single tear falls*
• He just- just loves them so much
• Also takes care of his younger brothers
• With the older boys, he’s like I’M BABY
• With the younger guys, he’s I’M BIG BROTHER, BABIES
• When he’s in the zone, NOBODY TOUCH HIM OR HE’LL LOSE CONCENTRATION
• HE’S A FRIENDLY BOY
• Tbh I feel like if you’re friends with him, your parents would automatically love him
• Scratch that, your entire family would want him around
• Such a happy soul!
• Make Mark sad and the rest will literally find that person
• “HOW DID YOU MAKE THE HAPPIEST PERSON WE KNOW SAD?? YOU MONSTER!”
• Followed by them pampering and comforting him
• Movie nights, going out, arcades or gaming till 4 am. Anything for Mark Lee
• Mark if you’re reading this, I hope you’re happy and healthy because the thought of you and the others sad just broke my heart man
• Anyways, what of this Canadian boy’s dating life?
• Hahahaha not good
• Why? As much as I hate to write this, he got cheated on before and he just sort of put dating aside
• That incident happened 5 years ago
• So how did you walk into this adorable boy’s life?
• Simple, you literally walked into him
• You were a nurse in the emergency ward so you were always running and bustling about.
• Mark, who was going to have lunch with Johnny was walking into the ER
• You, running around plus him, on his phone, oblivious to the world ended up with both of you knocking each other down
• “Ah shit.” You muttered. “Slow down next time. You could really get-” he finally looked up at you and his jaw dropped “Hurt.”
• “Thanks, see you later.” You picked up the files and ran into another area
• “Hey Mark, ready for lunch?” “Y…yeah. By the way, who’s that nurse? The one running around? I’ve never seen her before.”
• “Oh, the one that just went out? That’s Y/N, she’s been here for awhile now, why?” Johnny replied. “I ran into her just now… literally.” He chuckled. Johnny pat Mark’s back, “Nothing new, huh?”
• He didn’t know what was it about you that made him react that way.
• Was it the way your eyes sparkled? Or how even after several hours of work, you still look good? Or maybe it was the beautiful yet cheeky smile or yours.
• Either way, your name was the only thing he knew about you
• Usually if Mark wanted to eat with Johnny, Johnny would have to go to Mark.
• But now, Mark goes to Johnny
• Tbh, Johnny’s suspicious but he brushes it off.
• Hey! Atleast now he doesn’t have to go look for Mark
• Sadly, Mark hasn’t seen you at all
• He was a tad bit disappointed but oh well, it wasn’t fated
• SO HE THOUGHT!
• One night, the boys all went out for dinner
• Surprisingly, everyone was free that night
• Everyone was talking about their girlfriends/wives/fiancées
• “Man, she’s just so amazing. I’m really grateful.” Taeil said dreamily. Everyone smiled and teased him. “When my daughter was born, my wife was a real trooper. It was her first birth but she handled it so amazingly. Min Jae was happy to get a baby sister and he was so proud of his Mumma. I was so relieved that both of them were healthy.” Taeyong smiled while everyone cheered him on
• Hyuck and Mark listened and were both in awe. The two boys were currently roommates and they both lived very single lives
• “Dude, I’m so lonely…” Mark groaned. Hyuck punched his shoulder, causing Mark to howl in pain. “Am I not important anymore?!” he screeched.
• The rest of the guys turned to them to see what was going on
• “Everything okay?” Jaehyun asked as he took a sip of his wine
• “Mark just said he was lonely. Looks, like I’m not appreciated enough.” Donghyuck sulked.
• “wait what? No, no, dude I love you man.” Mark tried to hug Donghyuck but Donghyuck pushed his face away
• “It’s gonna take alot more than that just to win me back, Mark Lee!” the guys snickered and shook their head.
• “What do you mean by lonely?” Doyoung asked Mark. “We’re here for you!” Jungwoo grinned
• Mark couldn’t help but smile “Thanks man. I love all of you, seriously it’s just that… I’m lonely as in relationship wise.” Everyone understood and nodded. “All of you have someone, y'know? Minus Donghyuck but still!”
• “We could talk about something else if you want?” Yuta asked. Mark shook his head.
• “No, no it’s okay! Don’t get me wrong, I love it when you guys talk about your partners, you guys look so happy but it’s just that… sometimes I get a little jealous and the loneliness kicks in. I had someone but you all know how that went.”
• Sicheng sighed and placed an arm around Mark’s shoulder
• “Hey, you’re a great guy and you deserve better. You’re sweet, kind and an overall amazing person. Someone will pop into your life, okay? Just let life take it’s course.” He told.
• Your face flashed in his mind but he brushed it off
• Mark smiled widely, “Thanks Hyung.” As he hugged Sicheng tightly.
• “Group hug!” Johnny squealed as everyone got into a giant hug.
• Mark was called into the ER for a patient who had a problem with his stomach
• “Can I get the reports on patient Lee Jung Heon?” Mark asked as he played with a pen his father gave him when he graduated
• “Here you go.” He turned to take the reports when he froze
• It was you
• A strand of hair escaped your ponytail and was dangling in front of your face. Your eyes sparkled as usual and the smell of strawberries filled his senses
• “Dr Mark?” you smiled as he snapped out of his trance
• “O-oh thanks!” he grinned as he took it out of your hands really quickly
• You couldn’t help but smile at the cute doctor
• You’ve seen him around with Dr Seo but you always admired from afar
• “I’m a mess…” Mark said with his head in his hands.
• “Don’t tell me you clogged the toilet again?” Donghyuck asked loudly. “No! Not this time though.” He trailed off.
• “C'mon man, lay it on me.” Donghyuck turned to him and smacked his own chest. “What is Mark Lee going through?”
• “You promise, you wont tell anyone?” Donghyuck nodded.
• “Even Johnny.” He pointed. Donghyuck was confused.
• ‘Why did he specify Johnny?’ he thought
• “There’s this girl…” “OH SHIT ARE YOU IN LOVE WITH JOHNNY’S FIANCEE?” “WAIT WHAT NO, DUDE LET ME FINISH.”
• “There’s this girl, she’s a nurse in the Emergency ward and the other day, we ran into each other. I don’t know what it was about her that made me feel so… so… attracted.” Donghyuck scoffed.
• “I’m happy for you but why can’t we tell anyone especially Johnny?”
• “Because she’s in his department and I don’t want her to know. Well, not yet.” “Oh so you do plan on asking her out?” Mark nodded, “I think I might, I really wanna get to know her.”
• “Oooo, so cool~ Huh, now I might be the only single one left.” He said sadly.
• Mark side-hugged Donghyuck “Hey, you’ll find someone too! Could be someone you’ve always known or a complete stranger. Heck, Sicheng is with a former patient.” He comforted.
• Donghyuck snorted, “Thanks man, you’re the best.” He hugged back.
• Mark walked towards the emergency ward to pass something to Johnny and his fiancée
• “Guys, I brought your food!” he approached the couple.
• She turned and squealed
• “Thanks Mark!” as she took the bag and pat Johnny’s chest.
• “Sweetie, lets go!” “You go first, love. I’ve got to ask Mark something. I’ll be with you in a few minutes.” She nodded and walked off.
• Johnny stared at Mark with squinted eyes
• “Something is up and you’re not telling me about it. Your face gives it away.” Johnny poked his chest.
• “Oh my god, I just told him not to tell you…” he groaned.
• “tell me what?” he asked curiously. Mark’s eyes widen.
• “Wait, Hyuck didn’t say anything to you? Particularly about me?” he asked nervously.
• “No, now I’m really curious as to why you’re always coming to the ER. Last time, we always met up in the middle.” He smirked.
• “Is it wrong for me to see my favourite older brother?” he nudged Johnny but Johnny barely moved.
• “No, it’s just- wait, I’m your favourite?” Mark sighed, thankful that he changed the topic.
• “Yeah man! Don’t tell the others though.” He put a finger to his lips which Johnny giggled.
• “No problem, lil bro. Now, I’ve got muffins to eat.” He said as he skipped out of the ER.
• Mark kept on smiling before he released a breath he didn’t realise he was holding in and leaned against the nurses counter.
• “You two sure are close, huh?” a voice said behind him. His eyes widen and he turned around.
• He laughed nervously, “We sort of grew up together. All of us did.” He explained.
• You chuckled, “Sometimes I wish I have friends like that.” You sigh as you typed away on the computer
• Mark pointed, “Like doctors?” you couldn’t help but laugh.
• “No, friends who are practically family. I never had the chance to make friends because I busied myself with studies. Must be nice…” you trailed off.
• He watched you with adoration and you noticed him staring. “Sappy, right? Anyways, I’m Nurse Y/N. You’re Dr Mark Lee, right?” you asked as if you didn’t already know his name.
• “You know me?” you nod, “You’re pretty famous among the nurses, y'know. ‘Youngest general surgeon’ and all.” You said dramatically.
• Mark suddenly got a boost of confidence
• “Am I uh famous with you too?” he wiggled his brow. You got confused, “Huh?”
• “I meant… y'know do you uhm… do you…” and just like that his confidence diminished.
• “Nothing! See you another time, hopefully not so soon because y'know accidents but doesn’t mean I’m hoping not to see you, you’re a great gal but y'know surgeries and I’m… I’m gonna go.” He huffed as he walked out
• “My, my you got the man so flustered, Y/N.” Nurse Ji said. You snorted and rolled your eyes
• “He’s way out of my league.” You added. “Eh, no way. He really seems like he’s into you!”
• You thought about it for awhile, why would he be?
• Anyways, nowadays before entering the ER, he comes up with a super cheesy pick up line or he’d plan a flirting strategy
• Never goes according to plan
• “Hey, Y/N! Are you a pick? Cause I’d booger you!” “You’ll booger me?” “Yeah… WAIT NO I MEANT IF YOU WERE A BOOGER I’D- OH MY GOD NEVERMIND BYE Y/N!” as he covers his face and runs out
• Mark thinks he’s so sneaky, Johnny sees it all
• “Y/N~” “Dr Seo?” “Can I ask you something?” “Oh no, I swear to god I didn’t steal your monkey plushy.” “Wait what, no it’s not- WAIT YOU KNEW ABOUT GEORGE?” “Uh, I walked in when you took a nap and you were cuddling it but if you wanna know where it is, ask Nurse Guanheng.” You said as you were gonna walk away before he called you back.
• “I’ll keep that in mind but that wasn’t what I was going to ask.” “Really? Oh, uhm what is it then?” “Are you and Dr Mark seeing each other?”
• “Me? No, no! I mean he’s a nice guy and all but I don’t think he’s into me. Besides, I think he just wants to be friends.” You explained to your towering senior.
• “Uhuh, cause only a ‘friend’ would use that pickup line.” “Oh uh you saw that?”
• “Duh, I told him that one. Even used it on my fiancée right before I proposed.” He pointed to his beautiful partner who was suturing a wound.
• “Anyways, if you both are seeing each other, I just wanted to tell you that I’m really thrilled if it is you.” “Really?” “Yeah kiddo! Why don’t you two go out? He really likes the muffins downstairs.”
• “I’ll keep that in mind, Sir.” You smiled.
• When Johnny saw Mark, he pulled Mark by the back of his collar into Taeyong’s office where everyone else was.
• You see, the emergency ward is downstairs and the paediatric ward is three floors above
• You could imagine the looks they got
• “Uh, wanna explain why you dragged me here by the collar when you could’ve asked me to follow you, LIKE A NORMAL PERSON?” “Not dramatic enough, anyways, what’s going on between you and Nurse Y/N?”
• “Nurse Y/N?… DONGHYUCK?!” Mark screamed. “I TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL ANYONE!”
• “Me? I didn’t say anything.” He replied. “Then how does Johnny know?”
• “How does Johnny know about what?” Yuta asked. “He has a crush on a nurse in my department.” Johnny informed
• “Hyung?!” “What? Everyone deserves to know and you’re pretty obvious.” “But still!” “Ah, c'mon I’m your favourite brother. I’ll protect you.”
• “YOU’RE HIS FAVOURITE BROTHER? HE TOLD ME I WAS!” Taeyong stood up from his chair and pointed to Mark. “HEY, ME TOO!” Doyoung added. Soon, everyone was arguing about who the favourite was
• Mark groaned and walked out of the office only to bump into Nurse Y/N
• “Oh shit.” He said.
• “We really need to stop running into each other.” You laughed.
• He scratched the back of his neck and laughed awkwardly, “Yeah… are you here to look for Johnny? I can call him if you’d like?”
• “Actually, I was looking for you.” His eyes widen, “Me? Why me? What did I do?”
• You giggled. “Nothing, here!” you handed him a brown paper bag. “I was at the cafe and thought I should get you one.” He opened the bag and it was a blueberry muffin
• “Y/N, thank you!” he smiled. You grinned, “Eh, it’s not a problem. I’ll see you around?” you asked and he nodded eagerly.
• Mark walked back into the office and the guys were still at it
• “Where did you get that from?” Taeil asked him.
• Mark looked so small with the paper bad in his hands
• “Uh… Nurse Y/N… gave it to me.” He mumbled.
• Everyone was quiet right before chaos broke lose
• “WHAT DID SHE SAY?” “She just said ‘see you around’.”
• He opened the bag and noticed a fluorescent pink note. He picked it up and read it.
• Hope you like the muffin. Maybe we could go down and get some together next time?
• Mark plopped to the floor, grinning like an idiot.
• It’s been days since you gave him the muffin and he finally had some time to get a muffin for you
• “Hey, Johnny where’s Y/N?” “She’s outside talking to someone.” He said as he was filling out forms.
• When Mark walked out, he saw you talking to an extremely good looking guy
• “When are you coming back?” he asked her as he leaned on his motorbike. “Later, I’ve got some stuff to do. I’ll come back with your favourite food and we can talk about university later, okay?” the man nodded and hugged Y/N. “See you later!” she bid him goodbye as he rode off
• Mark didn’t know how to feel, was he judging too fast? Was he being played? He didn’t know what to do but to walk back.
• “Here you go.” He said sadly as he shoved the muffin into Johnny’s hands.
• When you walked back in, you saw Mark walking out and you called him but he didn’t answer
• “Is he okay?” you asked Johnny. He shrugged, “He came to see you but left really quickly.” He explained.
• “What? I should’ve gone in earlier, my brother just came back from university and he surprised me.” You said.
• “Wait, you were outside with a guy?” you nodded. “No wonder…” “What?” “I think he thought that guy was your boyfriend was your boyfriend or something.”
• Your eyes widen, “I should go tell him.” But Johnny stopped you
• “look I’m rooting for both of you but we’re pretty busy right now. Do you mind if you talk to him later?”
• “I’m so sorry… I totally forgot about how busy we were. I’m sorry for being selfish.” “WOAH WOAH Y/N NO IT’S NOT THAT. PLEASE DON’T BE SORRY. It’s just that we’re short on hands right now.”
• You continued with work and the only thing on your mind was Mark
• Mark was in the cafeteria when he saw you
• He saw you approaching him and he was scared
• “oh my god why is she coming here really fast? can’t be for me right? Oh god I’m scared, OH SHIT SHE’S COMING HERE.” He thought
• “Mark!” “O-oh hey, Y/N!” he said awkwardly. “Is this seat taken?” he shook his head and you sat down.
• Lunch was really awkward cause it seemed like both of you wanted to ask something but decided not to
• “Uh Mark, Johnny said you came by earlier?” “Oh yeah! I came down to see you but you looked busy so I didn’t want to disturb you.” He said innocently
• “I’m sorry Mark. My brother just came back from university and decided to come see me.” “It’s okay Y/N, we’re seeing each other now- wait brother? That was your brother? THAT REALLY HOT GUY WAS YOUR BROTHER?” you couldn’t help but laugh. “Yes, that was my brother. And are you attracted to my brother?” you asked teasingly.
• He choked on his food, “Wait no, no! I mean he is really good looking and I’m guessing good looks run in the family but I’m more attracted to you!”
• You blink with your mouth open, “You find me attractive?” he looked down and pushed his food around, “I mean who wouldn’t? You’re beautiful, funny, talented and so much more. What else would you want?”
• “Mark Lee, I think your efforts in flirting are finally working.” “What?” “Because my heart is beating surprisingly fast.” “Oh Y/N, you should visit Dr Jung y’know! He’s a really good cardiologist. I could book an appointment if you’d like?” you laughed really loudly at his cute and innocent nature.
• “No, Mark. You made it that way.” You said. “How could I make your heart- oh… oh wow, that’s good.” He giggled.
• “Really good. Wanna go get that muffin now?” you offered. He nodded excitedly and both of you walked off to the cafe
• Now, like all my stories, the guys have really good timing
• So, no surprise they were ALL at the cafe.
• “Wanna get a coffee too?” “Good idea! Really needed it.” You groan and both of you giggled
• You both walked in and LOW AND BEHOLD THEY WERE RIGHT THERE
• “oh no.” He said frozen
• Next thing you know, the doctors were all staring at you, wiggling their eyebrows
• “hey guys!” Mark waved awkwardly
• Ngl, pretty sure he was scared shitless
• “Uhuh…” “Mark, blueberry muffin and an iced chocolate, right?” “Yeah, I’ll come with you!” “OH NO YOU’RE NOT, COME HERE MARK LEE.” Yuta called him to the table
• Mark looked at you with fear in his eyes, you merely pat him on the back and went to order your food
• He reached the group and one after the other he was poked and tickled
• “guys, stOP!” He laughed and giggled
• “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL US?” “BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW IF WE’RE ACTUALLY GOING OUT OR NOT.” “MARK I SWEAR TO GOD, GO ASK HER?”
• He walked to the counter where you were and wiped his sweaty hands on the sides of his pants, he tapped you and you turned around with a breath-taking smile
• “Hey, Y/N can I ask you something?” “Sure but Oh! Before that, wanna go out with me next week?”
• “That’s what I was going to ask! So is it a date?” he asked nervously. You nodded eagerly, “We can make it one! Is Wednesday afternoon good for you?” “Should be fine! I’ll text you if there’s any changes.”
• You checked your watch and silently cursed, “Sorry to cut this short but I gotta go. And to be honest, he should too.” You pointed to Johnny who was playing with the metal straws. Mark coughed causing Johnny to stop and check his watch. “Yikes, gotta go fellas. Y/N wait up!”
• “Soo, you and Mar eh~” “Johnny… I’m pretty sure you knew.” “Yeah, I do! But it’s fun to tease.” You rolled your eyes and went to the emergency ward
• Wednesday came along and you were wearing a yellow sundress with your hair down
• Mark wore a white t-shirt with black jeans
• Both of you met up at this restaurant
• “I hope you like pasta? This place serves really good Aglio Olio.” You informed. “I’ll eat anything as long as I’m with you.” He said cockily.
• As you were looking at the menu, the door to the restaurant suddenly opened and you couldn’t believe who was walking in
• It was your ex from nursing school
• He dropped out after a year and you have no idea what he does now
• He came in with a stunning girl, holding her by the waist
• You hid behind the large menu, avoiding to be seen
• “What are you doing?” “Hiding.” You whispered. “From who?” he looked back and his eyes widen
• “ahahahah crap.” He hid behind his menu too. “why are you hiding?” you whispered.
• “That’s my ex. She cheated on me.” He pointed to the girl next to your ex. Your eyes widen and you made a weird noise
• “THAT’S MY EX TOO. HE ALSO CHEATED ON ME RIGHT BEFORE MY EXAM.” “oh that’s low… what a dick.” He muttered. You nodded in agreement.
• “You wanna go?” he asked you. “If you want cause it seems like they’re coming here.” His eyes widen and he looked back. They were going to sit at the table next to yours.
• “Okay we get up on 3. 3…2…1!” both of you got up abruptly.
• “Mark?” “Y/N?” they both said. “Hey… you.” You said trying your best to get out of this weird situation.
• “Oh my god hey! It’s been so long.” She said to Mark. He scratched the back of his neck.
• “Yeah… 5 years.” “Oh babe, this is Mark. He’s my… ex.” She said rather chirpily.
• Your ex stared at you, “Huh… this is my ex too. This is Y/N.”
• “this is totally not awkward.” You muttered under your breath
• “Are you guys dating or something?” she pointed a pink manicured finger to you.
• Both of you turned to each other
• Mark knew he wanted to date you and you knew you wanted to date him too
• It was a matter of who was going to ask
• His fingers entwined with yours, Mark smiling softly
• “Yeah, we’re dating.” He said with confidence. You tighten your hold and smiled back
• “If you’ll excuse us, we’ll be heading out first.” You said as you both walked out hand in hand
• Several dates later and you became Mark’s girlfriend and best friend!
• Dating Mark was fun everyday
• He’ll always have something planned out
• From going to the arcade to going shopping and finding cute stuff
• That one time you bought him a watermelon plushy and he couldn’t stop fanboying
• “YOOOOO BABY I LOVE YOU.”
• Thought the flirting ended? Nope.
• He was still at it
• Ngl, it did make you blush and kiss the heck out of his cute face
• When you met the entire group and their wives/fiancées/girlfriends, you felt so welcomed
• “Ah just you Hyuck.” Taeyong said. The young boy rolling his eyes, “One day, one day.”
• You sat next to Mark, happy to make new friends who you could consider family and finding love.
• You were happy to have Mark and he was just as happy to have you.

life  for  you  is  everything  that  a  child  would  want  :  your  parents  smother  you  with  love  every  single  day  ,  your  brother  plays  with  you  despite  being  older  ,  and  you’ve  got  a  smile  that  brightens  your  eyes  .  your  childhood  comes  stocked  full  of  everything  you  could  ever  want  and  more  ,  but  entering  your  teen  years  comes  with  a  hefty  bump  in  the  road  .  your  interests  are  elsewhere  ,  loving  the  pretty  pieces  that  your  mom  owns  and  wears  whenever  there’s a  dinner  or  gala  to  be  attended  .  you’re  smart  and  creative  ,  but  your  father  is  against  the  idea  .
your  father  wears  light  blue  scrubs  and a  crisp  white  jacket  with  his  name  embroidered  on  it  everyday  .  his  office  is  hidden  amongst  the  winding  hallways  of  northside  hospital’s  maternity  ward  ,  highly  respected  by  his  peers  and  loved  by  his  patients  .  your  father  has  a  passion  for  what  he  does  ,  and  he  forces  it  upon  you  and  jong - hyeon  with  an  iron  fist  .  he  wants  his  sons  to  follow  his  lead  into  medicine  ,  already  bragging  to  his  colleagues  about  how  his  sons  will  someday  take  over  the  medical  profession  just  like  him  .
you  had  no  interest  in  medicine    though  .  your  grades  could  speak  for  themselves  ,  but  you  had  a  low  interest  in  the  sciences  despite  your  high  marks  .  you  hated  being  asked  by  the  stuffy  doctors  who  would  come  to  your  house  what  field  you  wanted  to  specialize  in  ,  and  despite  the  laughter  that  erupted  from  them  when  you  said  ‘  none  ’  ,  but  your  father  wasn’t  entertained  .  you  would  sit  on  the  steps  as  your  mother  would  try  to  calm  him  down  ,  and  you’d  hear  that  your  father  would  refer  to  you  as  worthless  ,  dumb  ,  and  an  embarrassment  .  for  years  ,  tears  would  well  up  in  your  eyes  and  you’d  sulk  to  your  bedroom  with  your  head  hung  low  .  the  last  thing  that  you  wanted  was  for  your  father  to  berate  you  for  crying  .  the  pictures  of  your  brother  seem  to  mock  you  as  you  pass  ,  jong - hyeon  forever  immortalized  as  the  son  your  father  always  wanted  .
you  hope  that  your  mother  would  be  there  for  you  when  your  father  berates  you  ,  but  she  keeps  her  head  down  to  avoid  his  wrath  .  it’s  at  the  tender  age  of  fourteen  that  you  realize  you  have  no  one  on  your  side  .  your  brother  is  gone  ,  fulfilling  your  father’s  wishes  and  adding  his  two  cents  when  your  father  decides  to  be  snarky  at  the  dinner  table  .  you  keep  quiet  at  the  dinner  table  ,  only  answering  when  spoken  to  and  avoiding  the  disappointed  gaze  of  your  father  .  no  matter  how  much  you  seemed  to  disappoint  your  father  ,  you  also  began  to  stop  caring  .  it  was  evident  that  your  parents  didn’t  support  you  the  way  that  they  did  when  you  were  a  child  ,  so  you  decided  to  go  as  far  away  as  you  could  when  applying  for  college  .
you  were  over  the  moon  when  the  heavy  acceptance  package  from  pratt  institute  showed  up  in  your  mailbox  once  day  after  school  ,  clutching  it  close  to  your  chest  as  you  went  bumbling  into  your  house  .  most  children  aren’t  excited  to  leave  home  ,  but  you’re  in  desperate  need  of  an  escape  .  your  senior  year  of  high  school  can’t  end  fast  enough  ,  and  although  you  can’t  rid  your  father’s  face  of  the  scowl  he  wears  before  it’s  time  to  board  your  plane  ,  you  want  to  believe  that  he’s  proud  of  you  .  you  want  nothing  more  than  for  him  to  love  you  ,  to  be  proud  of  you  ,  but  he  send  you  sends  you  off  with  the  cut  of  the  eye  and  a  suck  of  the  teeth  .
living  in  new  york  for  two  years  helps  you  to  come  out  from  under  your  father’s  thumb  .  you’re  happy  ,  you  grow  your  hair  out  and  dye  it  blonde  ,  even  starting  a  youtube  channel  that  has  a  slow  start  ,  but  802  thousand  people  want  to  know  what  you  do  in  your  daily  life  .  sadly  ,  you  spend  your  last  summer  at  home  in  the  thick  of  a  heavy  disagreement  with  your  father  and  brother  .  you’re  mocked  for  your  hair  ,  teased  for  the  way  that  you  carry  yourself  ,  your  brother  even  wonders  why  you  even  returned  home  .  every  night  was  filled  with  you  slamming  your  bedroom  door  ,  speaking  to  your  father  in  a  tone  you  swore  you’d  never  use  ,  and  dealing  with  a  heartbreak  you  never  thought  you’d  experience  .
your  mother  doesn’t  come  to  your  rescue  when  you  need  her  the  most  ,  but  you  can’t  bring  yourself  to  care  .  no  matter  what  happens  ,  you  swear  to  yourself  that  you’ll  never  return  home  .  you  leave  ,  and  thanks  to  the  money  you’ve  been  saving  ,  you  move  into  the  tower  28  apartments  .  you  need  a  roommate  ,  but  you  don’t  really  care  .  somehow  ,  your  mother  convinces  your  father  to  continue  to  pay  for  your  schooling  ,  but  all  you  do  is  send  him  pictures  of  the  cleared  balances  as  a  thank  you  .
in  terms  of  saint’s  personality  ,  he’s  a  chaotic  boy  with  a  heart  of  gold  .  he  has  mastered  the  art  of  being  fake  --  he  knows  how  to  put  on  a  brave  face  in  public  ,  but  he’s  struggling  when  he’s  alone  .  saint  covers  up  his  insecurities  with  his  youtube  channel  ,  where  he  comes  across  as  your  typical  college  student  living  in  new  york  ,  but  he’s  the  furthest  from  it  .  he  doesn’t  handle  confrontation  well  and  he  hates  the  sound  of  yelling  ,  and  not  the  fun  kind  that  you  might  hear  at  a  party  .  he  has  a  tendency  of  apologizing  sometimes  even  when  something  isn’t  his  fault  by  a  long  shot  ,  but  he’s  also  a  chaotic  mess  at  times  !  he  flirts  like  there’s  nothing  to  it  with  anyone  who  has  a  pair  of  legs  ,  and  he  quite  honestly  might  call  someone  d*ddy  just  because  he  can  ORUEFSDS  .
i’m  going  to  create  a  tag  of  wanted  connections  that  i’d  love  to  have  for  saint  ,  but  i’m  gonna  do  that  tomorrow  since  i’m  finishing  this  intro  at  nearly  3am  .  outright  though  ,  i  would  love  to  have  :
an  angsty  ex  boyfriend  👀  like  yes  PLEASE  hand  it  over  i  promise  i’ll  make  you  cry  :D
a  best  friend  !  probably  one  of  the  only  people  who  can  see  right  through  his  ‘  i’m  okay  ’  bullshit
someone  that  tries  to  make  him  workout  but  in  reality  he’s  sitting  and  eating  a  bagel  on  the  weight  bench
something  soft ?  something  really  sweet  and  enough  to  make  my  freaking  teeth  rot ?  could  either  be  a  boyfriend  or  girlfriend  thing  or  i  don’t  know  something  literally  anything  just  give  me  the  softness  that  i’ve  been  craving  for  my  boy  .
give  me  a  plot  where  they  full  on  hate  each  other  .  no  lingering  feelings  ,  no  soft  moments  –  give  me  a  full  bred  spicy  hate  ship  that  literally  gets  your  blood  pumping  .  it’s  all  i  want  in  life  ,  thank  u  .
SKINNY  LOVE  DO  NOT  PLAY  WITH  ME
i’m  really  feeling  a  one  night  stand  with  some  substance  ? like  yeah  ,  they  have  their  fun  together  but  they  don’t  pretend  to  not  know  each  other  in  public  (  unless  they  have  like  a  fierce  rivalry  going  on  or  something  )  so  they  probs  tend  to  be  a  little  like  confidants  at  times  but  it’s  still  them  having  fun !

Cool, soft flesh felt like heaven against your heated skin. Pressure building low in your belly with every thrust. Long black hair dangled off of his shoulders, familiar features graced his pale face. Time was crawling, everything in slow motion as he hovered over you.
You gazed up into his green irises with clouded vision. “Loki!” His name tumbled from your lips in a wavered moan, pleasure overwhelming your senses.
A smirk curled on his lips and he rocked his hips harder into you. You dig your fingers into his back, gasping as you quickly approached release. “Yes, my pretty little pet! Call out the name of the god who you belong to! The name of the god who owns this body and makes it feel such pleasure that no one else can even come close to matching!”
Your next moan was louder, your eyes watered as the tension became almost too much to bear any longer.
“Now cum for me! Let the whole world hear the name of the only one who can ravish this body!”
“LOKI!” You shouted, tidal waves of pleasure crashing over you. Your convulsing walls milked him as he grunted out a moan. He slowed his hips as you felt him spill inside of you.
Heavy pants filled the room as he removed himself from you, settling down beside you so he could pull your back against his chest. The embrace felt so comfortable, so cozy… Soft lips pressed against the back of your neck, tingles spread across your skin like wildfire. You were so content, so happy, so satisfied… Could you stay like this forever…?
You woke in a familiar position, your back pressed against Tom, with his arm draped over your side. His warm breath tickled the back of your neck as he nuzzled closer to you. When he placed a couple of lazy kisses against your skin, you sighed softly, lingering in that blissful state between being awake and falling back to sleep. The warmth and the coziness was luring your consciousness to rest once more.
But when the kisses kept coming and began to trail to the side of your neck, the heat traveled down between your legs and you felt yourself beginning to awaken. Damn you, Hiddleston. He slid his hand to your breast, squeezing it gently. Your breath became harder and a string of quiet moans escaped your lips and you felt him smirk between kisses.
“Needy in the morning too, are we?” Tom teased, his husky voice coaxed a shiver to run up your spine.
You smirked when he let out a stuttered breath as you ground your bum against his erection. “Looks like I'm not the only one.”
“Do you blame me? What's a man to do when he's got a woman in his bed, incredibly naked and making such sinful noises?”
You blushed, hard. “O-Only because you're--” You gasped when he pinched one of your nipples, “--doing that.”
Tom chuckled, “Would you like me to stop?”
You shivered at his words and groaned, turning around to face him. “No.” You breathed, placing your lips on his.
He pulled you on top of him, placing his hand on the back of your head firmly, while the other returned to your chest. He pinched and pulled at your nipple, making you moan into the kiss.
He broke apart from you briefly, “I'm curious... What were you dreaming about there, love?” He asked, but his knowing smile said it all. Had Loki's name passed through your lips while you were asleep? Images flashed through your mind and your cheeks flushed. Had you really dreamt about… Loki? He had Tom's features but his hair… and those eyes…
Tom's cock throbbed underneath you, pulling you back to reality and his lips returned back to yours, his movement tempting you to rock your hips back and forth against him. Tom gripped your hips, guiding you into a gentle rhythm that had you craving more friction.
The alarm on Tom's phone suddenly went off and the two of you stopped, pulling your mouths apart. Tom sighed and reached out to grab it, but you turned his face back to you, “Just ignore it…” You kissed him again while continuing to roll your hips.
Tom groaned, pulling back from your lips. “I can't.” He grabbed his phone off of the nightstand and swiped the screen to shut it off, placing it back with a sigh.
Disappointed, you started to move off of him, but he slid an arm around your waist and turned you over, pressing your back into the mattress. Tom half hovering over over you with a smirk. “However…” He slid his hand over your breasts caressing one of them softly. “I think we can make it work if we save time by taking this to the shower.”
A smile spread across your face and you giggled as he leaned in to kiss you. Tom hummed against your lips and broke away, starting to slide off of the bed. He held his hand out and you took it, letting him pull you off of the bed and lead you to the bathroom.
Things continued like that over the next few months; playful, simple. No worries over anyone's feelings getting hurt, no disappointment, no obligations. Just having a good time, fulfilling desires and exploring kinks, free of any judgement.
Your feelings about this had been sort of doubtful in the beginning. You weren't sure if it would work, if it would start to become weird and awkward when you saw each other around the flat or tried to hang out as you normally did. But if anything, this brought the two of you closer than you had before.
Tom continued to do his audios, frequently asking for your opinion, having you help him brainstorm some new ideas to keep his page fresh, some of them being from your guys’ own escapades between the sheets. Occasionally, you listened in on some of them. It was becoming less and less awkward, the more you were exposed to it. You actually really enjoyed when he included you, it was sort of fun and exciting.
Honestly, this was the happiest you'd been in a long time. You didn't have to deal with all the bullshit that came with relationships. You were relieved that you were able to maintain your close friendship with Tom, while being thoroughly satisfied in bed. The arrangement you had was perfect. Or so you thought.

Harrison twiddled his thumbs anxiously, his bottom lip sucked in between his teeth as he nibbled on the now raw flesh. He didn’t want to be here, hell, he wanted to be anywhere else than be where he was right now.
His eyes flickered around the waiting room, observing the people passing by the door occasionally, his heart beating rapidly in his chest. He attempted to read a magazine to help soothe his nerves while he waited, his head perking up a bit when the door to the main office opened.
His eyes landed on the girl exiting the room, her hair a bit messy, her eyes bloodshot from crying, her hands clenching and unclenching as she made her way into the waiting room. She flashed him a faint smile, nodding at him, as if letting him know he’d be okay. That if she could do it, he could too. He returned the smile, nodding his head back at her, before focusing his attention towards the door.
A younger woman exited the office, her blonde hair tied up in a neat ponytail, a black tablet in her hand as she glanced over at him. “Ms. Johnson is ready to see you now.” She gave him a sympathetic smile, stepping aside from the door as Harrison rose up from his chair. “Thank you.” He mumbled, scrunching his lips up into an uneasy smile as he turned the cold golden knob on the door, stepping into the room.
His eyes immediately focused on the brunette haired woman sitting behind the dark wooden desk. He quietly shut the door behind, visibly swallowing his nerves as he stood there awkwardly, not knowing if he should move or not. Ms. Johnson sensed his uneasiness, the vibe coming off of him strongly, making her feel sad for the poor boy already.
She inhaled a breath, a friendly smile appearing on her face as she looked up at him. “Please dear, take a seat, you don’t have to stand.” She motioned towards the tan colored couch, as Harrison nodded in response, making his way over and taking a seat.
She rubbed her lips together in thought, before turning her attention to the paper below her. “Harrison correct?” She spoke up, her eyes flickering up to his as he nodded once more. She let out a hum in response, checking a few things off her paper, before turning to face him completely. The action causing Harrison to panic a bit.
“It’s okay to be nervous Harrison, but just know you don’t have to be, everything that is discussed in this room stays in this room, it will always stay between us.” She reassured him, noticing his stiff posture, a common reaction for new clients. He stared at her blankly, his hands shaking a bit as she gave him a faint smile.
“Okay, lets just dive right on in.” She cleared her throat, already making a mental note that he was going to be a bit tougher to get to open up. “So, Harrison, what brings you here?” She questioned, looking over at him as he sat in silence. She clicked her tongue in response, nodding slowly to herself.
“You know, some people who come here have a lot of courage, they’re ready to talk to someone, but then there are others that are the complete opposite and have a more exasperation response.” She explained, her hands moving around as she spoke. “There are also some who come into this with nothing but pure apprehension.” She stated, tilting her head a bit as Harrison bit his lip.
“So, what I’m saying is everyone reacts differently, it’s completely normal to feel however you’re feeling.” She further explained, exhaling some air through her nose as she shuffled a few items around on her desk.
She grabbed a pen and a pad of paper before refocusing on him once more. “If you don’t mind, I’m going to ask you some questions, and take notes about what you say so I can keep it fresh in my memory.” She explained calmly, “Oh, and feel free to interrupt me at any time or steer the conversation to where you need it to go.” She added on, a faint smile on her lips as she leaned back in her chair a bit.
“So, lets start over shall we?” She smiled, “What brings you here today Harrison?” She questioned once again, her voice calm and collected when she spoke. Harrison shifted in his seat awkwardly, coughing a bit as he made eye contact with her. “My friend brought me here. Thought it would be good for me.” He mumbled, chewing on his lower lip as she nodded in response, jotting down a few things on her pad of paper.
“Have you ever seen a therapist before?” She asked, tilting her head a bit as he shook his head no in response. His eyes watched her jot another thing down on the paper, his nerves building the more he saw the pen moving. “Are you going to be writing down everything I say?” Harrison blurted out, his face becoming pale from his outburst. “Only the important things.” She smiled, tapping her pen against the pad of paper in thought.
“So, Harrison, I’m pretty sure you’re aware everyone has a different perspective on what the problem is, and who or what the solution is. The point of therapy is to help listen and create positive chances in your life.” She paused, making sure he understood before continuing, “That being said, how do you see the problem? Or to put it simpler, how do you define it?” She questioned, tilting her head a bit as she studied his movements and body language.
Harrison was hesitant to answer the question, he knew if he did everything would spill out like word vomit. He wasn’t sure he was ready for some stranger to know all his deepest darkest secrets and life issues.
But, at the same time, wasn’t that the whole point of him being here in the first place? To have a safe place to express his emotions and how he’s feeling? Maybe Tom was right after all. Maybe he really did need to just talk to someone and let everything out that’s been holding him down for so long. It was time to be a new Harrison, it was time to be open, vulnerable.
Harrison licked his lips nervously, his eyes flickering up to hers then back to the floor, “I tend to get angry and act out my aggression.” He spoke, his voice quiet as he now focused on his hands. “Are there any specific people in your life causing problems for you?” She questioned, as he slowly nodded his head in response.
“My parents, my ex-girlfriend.” Harrison mumbled, shifting on the couch a bit. “How do you get along with them? Do you get along with people at your school? I’m assuming you’re a high school student correct?” She questioned him, leaning forward a bit against the desk as he took a deep breath.
“I get along with my parents okay, we don’t have the best relationship. They don’t really care about what I do as long as I do well in school.” He paused, chewing on his bottom lip, a bad habit he’s always had since he was a kid. “In a way it’s like they care more about my educational status and getting scholarships for college. They don’t care about everyday things, I’ve never even been asked how my day was.” Harrison sniffled, his eyes focused on the ground.
“I remember I came home one day and I was the happiest I had ever been, I had asked this girl to homecoming that I really liked and she said yes.” He looked up at Ms. Johnson, a faint smile on his lips recalling that happy moment, only for the smile to quickly vanish.
“I began to tell my parents all about it and not even halfway through me telling them they cut me off,” Harrison paused, wiping his eyes, “I remember their faces clear as day, they had the most disappointed and annoyed expressions I had ever seen on their faces.” He let out a bitter laugh, “They told me that I shouldn’t waste my time going to a silly high school dance, that I should be focusing on my education instead.” Harrison rolled his eyes restating what his father had told him.
“But it didn’t end there, no, my father had the audacity to tell me right to my face that the girl I had asked probably said yes out of pity. That she most likely didn’t even reciprocate the feelings back. That the girl could do so much better, could have someone better than me.” Harrison choked out, wiping his eyes once again.
“That’s not even the worst part though, what he said next was what really hit me hard.” He sniffled, “He goes, I raised you to be smart, intelligent, to make the right choices in life, but right here, right now, you just proved to me that you’re nothing of those things. Just a disappointment.” Harrison choked out, his body shaking with sobs as his cheeks turned a deep shade of red as he cried.
Ms. Johnson watched the blonde haired boy sadly, her lips turning into a slight frown as she opened up one of her desk drawers to pull out a box of tissues. Without saying anything she stuck her hand out to offer the box to him, which he appreciated greatly. Ms. Johnson felt deeply for the boy and waited a few minutes for Harrison to calm down and regain his composure.
“I guess from that point on something snapped within me, I wanted to make them proud, to make them happy, to make them love me. But, I’ve been doing that for the past three years and it’s still the same, and it’s taken away a part of me, and I guess that’s where all the rage and anger comes from.” Harrison admitted, his brows furrowing slightly as everything was starting to make more sense now that he finally talked about it.
“I’m making a note to come back to this topic to talk over with you, but before we run out of time for today, you also mentioned an ex-girlfriend.” She spoke up, flipping a page back in her notes, marking some things down on her paper, “If you feel comfortable sharing, what happened between the two of you?” She questioned, noticing his fists clench in response. “It’s alright if you don’t want to talk about it, we can move onto something else if you’d prefer that.” She offered, but he shook his head in response.
“No.. I need to talk about this.” Harrison mumbled, shutting his eyes tightly as he recalled everything that went down earlier this year. “I was dating this girl named Adriana, my mate Tom introduced me to her at a party we went to our Freshman year.” Harrison began, fiddling with his fingers as a faint smile re-appeared on his lips at the memory. “We were together for two years, and we just recently broke up at the beginning of this year.” He explained, leaning back against the couch cushion.
Harrison pinched the bridge of his nose, letting out a breath of air as his eyes flickered up to meet hers. “Please don’t hate me after what I tell you.” Harrison pleaded, his eyes full of sorrow as Ms. Johnson motioned for him to continue.
“I had suspected during our second year together that she secretly had feelings for someone else, but of course she always told me that I was just being paranoid.” Harrison waved his hand in the air, letting out a strangled laugh. “A few more months pass by and we became a bit more distant from each other, I tried my best to find out why but she just said it was because of school.” He rolled his eyes, remembering it all clearly.
“So, a few weeks go by and then one evening we finally go out to dinner, we had a great time, like nothing had changed, and then right as I dropped her off at home, she broke up with me.” Harrison spoke angrily, his fists clenching together at the memory.
“She told me that because we were both going to end up at different colleges that it was for the best if we broke up now so we wouldn’t have to do it later on when it would be tougher to do.” Harrison chuckled darkly, shaking his head as he spoke.
“Of course I was broken, I just lost the one thing that made me the happiest.” Harrison mumbled, running his fingers through his hair. “I eventually drove home, my parents yelled at me like usual, and then I cried myself to sleep that night.” Harrison frowned, glancing up at her as she listened intently.
“Next thing I knew my alarm was going off and I was out the door to go to school, and when I arrived I saw the last thing I ever wanted to see.” Harrison gritted his teeth hard as he saw the picture clear as day in his head.
“Standing right in front of the school was Adriana kissing this other guy, the guy who I had assumed she had secret feelings for.” Harrison all but growled out, “And that’s when I snapped.” Harrison breathed out, his crystal blue eyes darkening as he spoke.
“In a split second I felt my body completely shut down, and a wave of pure rage and anger took over. Next thing I knew I was throwing punches into the guys face while Adriana was screaming at me to stop, but I didn’t. I was too angry to hear anything else around me, all I knew was that I wanted to kill this guy.” Harrison confessed, tapping his foot against the floor as he spoke.
“I eventually felt like he had, had enough and I turned to face Adriana, who was crying, shaking with fear from my outburst. She began to hit me, telling me that what I did was uncalled for, pretty much just shouting at me. But I was still so consumed with rage, that I ended up hurting her too.
I bruised her so bad, and it still haunts me.” Harrison sniffled, “I ended up sending both of them away in an ambulance, the guy had to get twenty stitches in his face and they had to bandage up some of Adriana’s bruises.” Harrison whispered out, his expression saddening even more.
“I remember walking into the school after, my knuckles were all busted up, blood all over them as my mate Tom ran up to me, asking me what happened and if I was okay. Of course I told him what happened, but I never told him what happened to Adriana, I knew if I did he’d never look at me the same.” Harrison confessed, guilt taking over him as he looked up at Ms. Johnson.
“I never meant to hurt them. I never want to hurt anyone, I’m not a fighter.” Harrison whimpered, covering his face as a few tears slipped down his cheeks. Ms. Johnson watched the boy breakdown right in front of her, her heart breaking a bit. She knew Harrison wasn’t a bad kid, he just wanted what everyone else had, he wanted to feel loved, important.
“I believe you aren’t a fighter either Harrison.” Ms. Johnson spoke up, catching his attention as he rose his head up. “You want to know what I think?” She questioned, as he nodded his head in response.
“I think you’re an intelligent young man who has grown up in a toxic household that made you believe no matter what you do, you won’t be good enough for anyone. That being said, with that mentality, whenever you don’t do well in school, you lash out, you become angry and take it out on whatever you can to get an emotional response.” Ms. Johnson began to explain, as Harrison listened quietly.
“So, for example, your breakup with Adriana, when you saw her with that other guy, your mind was immediately telling you that you weren’t good enough for her, which is why she broke up with you. With all that emotion building up you felt betrayed, angry, wanting to make them both feel how you were feeling. Hence why you lashed out and ended up hurting them.” She explained further, as Harrison continued to listen quietly.
“That being said, I don’t think you want to hurt people Harrison, I think you’re a boy who’s broken and lost on the inside trying to find where you belong. And when you think you’ve finally found it and end up losing it you become unstable and do things you wouldn’t normally do.” She frowned softly, as Harrison’s eyes began to get watery.
“I just want you to know that you coming here and talking this all out is a big first step, you might even feel as if it was a weight being lifted off your shoulders.” She smiled softly as Harrison sat up straighter, rolling his shoulders back. “I’m proud of you for doing this, I know it’s hard, but I have faith in you Harrison. I’d love for you to come back so we can continue to talk, that is if you’d like to.” Ms. Johnson offered as Harrison sat there for a moment, contemplating the offer.
“I-I think that’d be great.” Harrison spoke quietly, suddenly feeling tired, as if all his energy had been drained from his body. “Alright great.” She smiled, flipping over her pad of paper before focusing on her calendar.
“How does next Tuesday at three p.m. sound for you?” She questioned, as Harrison nodded his head, “Sounds good.” He faintly smiled, as she nodded in response, marking him down on that day. “Perfect. I will see you next Tuesday then Harrison. It was nice meeting you.” She smiled, standing up and walking over to him, sticking her hand out.
Harrison stood up, staring at her hand, but went in for a hug instead, catching her off guard, before she hugged him back, patting his back softly. “Thank you.” He mumbled, his eyes shut tight as she smiled softly down at him. “I’ll always be here if you need to talk Harrison, always know that.” She reassured him, as he nodded in response, letting go of her before exiting the room, inhaling a deep breath and letting it out as he made his way out of the waiting room.
A part of him felt lighter like Ms. Johnson had said, as if everything he had been holding in for the past three years were no longer weighing him down. He smiled faintly to himself as he made his way out of the building, seeing Tom pull up in his car, waving to him. Harrison waved back, a smile on his lips as he jogged down to the car, to his best friend, the one person who always had his back, someone that actually cared about him.
“So how was it?” Tom questioned, looking over at his friend as Harrison buckled himself in the seat. “I can say much, but what I can say is that you were right, I really needed this, I have another appointment next Tuesday.” Harrison admitted, as Tom smiled at his friend.
“I’m proud of you mate, I’m glad to see you caring about your health.” Tom patted his shoulder, then refocused on driving, pulling away from the building while Harrison stared out the window, his gaze lingering on the tall brick building.
This was the start of a new beginning for him, and he was more than ready to get his life back.
- ❁ -
You had managed to recompose yourself enough to return back down stairs, taking a seat back on the couch as you curled up in a few blankets. Harrison was too preoccupied writing his paper to notice your hesitance which you were thankful for. Your heart was no longer racing but your mind was, you had called Tom less than five minutes ago and you knew things were going to get ugly quick.
You attempted to distract yourself by eating some of the food left on the coffee table, doing whatever you could to make yourself seem normal. You weren’t sure how long it would take Tom to get to Harrison’s apartment, but you were pretty certain it would be a lot quicker than normal.
You continued to stab your fork into the box, your eyes widening slightly when you realized you ate all the food, your nerves beginning to take over once more. You were about to grab another box off the table when a loud knocking echoed throughout the apartment, causing your head to snap over towards the door.
Harrison’s head lifted up, his brows furrowed in thought as he removed his laptop off his legs. “I’ll go see who it is darlin’.” Harrison smiled softly, kissing the top of your head as you shut your eyes tightly, swallowing thickly as you heard Harrison’s feet patter over towards the door.
You knew shit was about to go down.
Harrison however had no clue who was at his apartment, last he checked he hadn’t invited anyone over and he knew you hadn’t either. With a shake of his head Harrison opened the door, his jaw clenching when he saw Tom standing before him. “What’re you doing here mate?” Harrison spoke through gritted teeth, as Tom narrowed his eyes at his friend.
“I’m here to see Y/N.” Tom stated bluntly, crossing his arms as Harrison let out a dark chuckle. “She doesn’t want to see you, remember? You fucked her best friend mate, as if she’d want to be around you after that.” Harrison spat, a smirk on his lips as Tom squinted his eyes in response, nodding slowly.
“We all make mistakes Haz, you surely know that don’t you?” Tom counteracted, a smug smirk on his face as Harrison glared at his friend. “I know that you’re not welcomed here, so get the fuck out of my face.” Harrison growled out, attempting to slam the door shut but Tom was quick to stop him, placing his foot between the door frame and the door.
“I don’t think so mate, Y/N called me, and I’m here to get her the fuck away from you.” Tom snapped, shoving his way through the door, causing Harrison to get pushed up against the wall as Tom stormed in.
“Y/N!” Tom shouted, running over to you as your eyes widened, your body jumping up off the couch as you ran into his open arms. “You came.” You breathed out, your voice weak and strained as Tom held you close to his chest.
“Always.” Tom muttered into your hair, kissing the top of your head gently as his arm stayed tightly around your waist. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing with my girl?” Harrison shouted, storming up to Tom as you flinched at his tone, but Harrison was too riled up to notice.
“I’m protecting her from you!” Tom shouted back, his eyes full of rage as Harrison breathed heavily, his chest rising and falling rapidly as his eyes flickered between you and Tom. “Protecting her? From me?” Harrison repeated, laughter leaving his lips as Tom studied his friend, while you clung to him for dear life, afraid he might vanish. “If anything I’m protecting her from you.” Harrison snarled at Tom, his body stiff as he stared his friend down.
“For what? Sleeping with her friend? That’s nothing compared to what you’ve done.” Tom spat at him, his jaw clenching at the thought of Harrison laying a hand on you. “What are you talking about?” Harrison demanded, his eyes full of fire and rage, his fists clenching and unclenching rapidly. “I said what are you talking about!” Harrison yelled, taking a step towards Tom and you, causing you to whimper into Tom’s chest.
“I know what you did mate, what you did to Y/N, and I know you do too, but you’re too afraid to admit it.” Tom stated, his voice calm as Harrison’s expression changed rapidly, trying to understand what his friend was implying. He kept trying to make excuses in his head, but deep down Harrison knew what his friend was saying, he just really didn’t want to believe it was happening all over again.
“Please.. Don’t take her away from me.. I’ll change..” Harrison pleaded, his face falling as Tom gave him a sad look, “Y/N is all I have mate..” Harrison whispered, tears welling up in his eyes as you looked up at Tom, your eyes pleading for him to get you out of Harrison’s apartment. “I’m sorry Haz, but it’s for the best, for Y/N’s safety.” Tom spoke quietly, his arm still firmly wrapped around you as he leaned over to grab your laptop and a few of your other belongings.
He carefully maneuvered his way around Harrison, bringing you to the front door as he handed you your things, telling you to wait in the hallway while he went to grab the rest of your belongings. You nodded your head hesitantly, afraid that Harrison might open the door and grab you, but you trusted Tom, you knew that he wouldn’t let Harrison hurt you, not anymore.
“Why are you doing this?” Harrison sniffled, his eyes becoming bloodshot as Tom gathered up your clothes. “You know exactly why Haz.” Tom muttered, packing up your clothes into a duffel bag before entering the bathroom to grab your cosmetics.
“I know that she’s into you.” Harrison whispered, completely catching Tom off guard as a tear trickled down his cheek as Tom’s head snapped over towards him, his brows furrowed. “What?” Tom breathed out as Harrison nodded sadly, a broken laugh leaving his lips.
“You can’t honestly tell me you don’t see it?” Harrison tilted his head to the side a bit, brows furrowing as Tom shook his head no. “There’s this unspoken connection between the two of you, and no matter what you both always end up back with each other, almost like it’s fate.” Harrison smiled sadly, wiping away the few tears on his cheeks.
“I tried so hard to get you out of the picture, to help her erase her feelings for you, and for a brief moment it worked, I really thought I had won her over when you had fucked her best friend, but yet, here you are once again.” Harrison motioned to Tom standing in the bathroom doorway, a faint frown on his lips. “I was never going to be good enough, not when I was always being compared to you.” Harrison smiled sadly, raising his eyebrows as he let out a shaky breath.
“I guess that’s what triggered it, my rage.” Harrison confessed, taking a seat on the edge of his bed as Tom leaned against the door frame. “I got too into my head, and before I even knew what I was doing I was lashing out at her, just like I did to Adriana.” Harrison sniffled, holding his head in his hands as Tom looked at his friend sadly. “God I’m such a mess, no, scratch that, I’m a fucked up person, that’s what I am.” Harrison choked out, nodding his head as Tom quickly made his way over to his friend.
“Hey, no you aren’t Haz, stop talking like that.” Tom placed his hands on his friends shoulders, forcing him to look at him. “You’re my best friend, I know things are a bit rocky right now between us but I’m always going to have your back no matter what, I’m always going to be here for you.” Tom reassured him, as Harrison his head slowly in response. “Thank you Tom..” Harrison whispered, a tear slipping down his cheek as Tom observed his broken friend.
“How about you get some rest and we can talk some more tomorrow yeah?” Tom questioned, as Harrison nodded his head once more in agreement, climbing into the unmade bed. Tom quickly finished gathering up the rest of your belongings, bidding Harrison goodbye and telling him to get a good night's rest, before locking the door on his way out of the apartment. He let out a breath of relief when he saw you in the same place he left you.
“Ready to go sweetheart?” He hummed as you nodded eagerly in response, clutching your few belongings while Tom carried the rest. You both eventually made it down to his car, placing your things in the back seat, before slipping into the passenger's seat.
You both sat in silence for half of the car ride, both not knowing what to say or even how to start a conversation after everything that had just went down. The silence was eating you alive, you needed to say something, anything.
You cleared your throat, your eyes flickering over to him as he kept his focus on the road. “Thank you..” You mumbled out, chewing on your bottom lip as Tom’s eyes snuck a glance over at you. Tom nodded his head in response, unsure of what to say back, a part of him was nervous to be around you, and another part wished to have you back in his arms. Pushing all that aside though, he was more than happy just to have you back, to know that you were finally safe again.
After a few more minutes of being in the car, he finally pulled up to the familiar building, noticing your eyes light up the second he pulled into the parking garage. You were quick to unbuckle your seat belt, grabbing the few things you could before you were sprinting to the main entrance. Tom let out a chuckle, shaking his head in amusement as he grabbed the rest of your belongings, locking up the car before heading into the building after you.
He had to admit, you definitely were a fast runner, by the time he arrived at the shared apartment you were already inside, your arms wrapped around Jacob tightly as he hugged you back.
Tom let out a chuckle, seeing Jacob mouthing for him to help him get you off of him, but Tom only shook his head, mouthing ‘what?’ back to him, earning a glare from him in response. Jacob tried to pry you off of him but you weren’t budging, you hadn’t seen him in months and you were sure as hell going to get your well deserved hug.
“Y/N you’ve been hugging me for the past seven minutes.. I think you can let go now.” Jacob laughed, patting your back once more as you let out a dramatic sigh, letting go of him as Jacob let out a breath of air. “You may not look like it but you’re strong as hell Y/N, remind me never to get on your bad side, you could knock someone out.” Jacob teased, causing you to roll your eyes playfully in response.
“I missed you.” You smiled, poking his cheek as he swatted your hand away. “I’m now re-deciding if I missed you too.” Jacob teased, earning a gasp from you in response. “Kidding! Kidding!” Jacob laughed, raising his hands up as you smiled, not noticing Tom watching the whole thing from the kitchen.
“You guys are morons.” Tom chuckled, earning a pout from you while Jacob gave him the finger, causing Tom to smile innocently. “The only moron in this room is you Tom.” Jacob grinned, as Tom mocked him, making you smile at the two of them.
You had forgotten how much you missed them, they never failed to make you laugh. “I’m not dealing with you and your ridiculousness right now Tom, therefore, I’m heading to bed, goodnight Y/N.” Jacob smiled, ruffling your hair as you whined, slapping his hands away as he laughed, disappearing down the hall.
You couldn’t help but glance over at Tom, seeing that he was already staring at you, causing a light blush to rise on your cheeks. “You good Thomas?” You questioned, a faint smile on your lips as he sipped his beer.
“I am now.” He smiled, sending you a wink as you bit your lip, trying to hide your smile. “Good.” You squeaked out, shaking your head slightly as you picked up your duffel bag of clothes. “I think I’m going to head to bed, long day.” You sighed, giving Tom a soft smile as he smiled back, “Goodnight Y/N.” He hummed, watching you carry your belongings back into your room.
He couldn’t help but smile when he saw you enter and close the door, seeing the light glowing from underneath the door signifying that there was life on the other side, that you were on the other side. You were finally back where you belonged, and for once in the past few months, Tom was finally going to be able to get a good night’s sleep, something he hadn't had since the day you left.
You on the other hand were pulling all your clothes out of the duffel bag, launching them all into your laundry basket as you grabbed a clean pair of sweats and a loose t-shirt.
You let out a sigh of relief when the loose clothing was covering your body, you already felt more relaxed, but there was still one more thing you needed to do for you to be fully relaxed. Within a few seconds you unhooked your bra, tossing it into your laundry basket as well, making cheering sounds as it made it in. You were such a nerd sometimes.
Letting out a yawn you decided you’d just tidy up a few more areas of your room, having left it a complete disaster. Once deciding it was ‘clean enough’ you plopped down into your warm bed, turning your lamp off and then sinking into the comfortable mattress, pulling the blankets up to your nose while you shut your eyes.
You were exhausted, you were craving sleep, but now that you were finally able to, your mind wouldn’t let you. Flashbacks from earlier played throughout your head like a movie, causing you to twist and turn every so often.
Eventually you reopened your eyes, a frown on your face as you checked the time, only for an annoyed groan to escape your lips. You had been trying to fall asleep for the past hour, but nothing was working, there was no way you were going to be able to fall asleep when all you saw when you shut your eyes was Harrison. It just wasn’t going to happen.
Sitting upright in your bed you thought about your options on what you could do. On one hand you thought about cleaning up the rest of your room, on another hand you thought about making yourself a late night snack and then watching a movie on Netflix, but then another idea popped into your head, and you knew it wasn’t a good one, but you didn’t really have any other choices. After internally arguing with yourself for what seemed like forever you managed to finally leave your bed, turning your lamp off before exiting your room.
As quietly as you could you tiptoed down the dark hallway, doing your best not to cause any creaking in the floor, or to bump into anything. Your heart was already pounding in your chest, you knew this was a stupid idea, you really did, and yet here you were standing right in front of Tom’s door. You needed sleep, and you knew deep down this was the only way you were going to get a good night’s rest.
Attempting to give yourself a motivational speech in your head, you took a deep breath, nodding to yourself as you continuously mumbled ‘you can do this, you can do this’ before turning the knob on his door, opening it quietly to see he was already asleep.
A smile made its way onto your lips as you heard soft snores leaving his mouth, causing your heart to flutter. You quietly shut the door behind you, hesitantly walking over to his bed as you stood there awkwardly, your eyes scanning over his face.
He looked peaceful, relaxed, something you hadn't seen for a long time. Not wanting to disrupt his state of sleep you decided to just climb on in next to him, praying that when he woke up he wouldn’t be mad that you snuck into his bed with him.
You made sure to face away from him, your back turned to him as you pulled the covers over your body, the smell of his cologne filling your nose as you breathed in. You had always loved the scent he wore, it’s what made him, him.
You couldn’t help but snuggle more into the warm covers, a content sigh leaving your lips until you felt your heart stop beating for a split second, your breathing coming to a halt as Tom moved in his sleep, his arm draping over your stomach causing your eyes to widen. Did he know what he was doing? Was he awake? Was he aware you were right next to him?
You hesitantly stole a quick glance over at him, letting out a breath of relief when you saw his eyes were still closed, soft snores beginning to leave his mouth once again. However, now he had his arm over you and you weren’t sure what you were going to do. Your stomach felt like it was on fire, the warmth from his arm soaring throughout your veins as you laid frozen in place.
Licking your lips nervously you placed your hand on his, slowly removing it from your body as you placed it gently next to his pillow, before re-positioning yourself to get comfortable. Your body and mind finally beginning to relax as you listened to the sound of Tom snoring, the sound helping you fall asleep.
You could feel yourself falling deeper and deeper into the depths of sleep when all of a sudden you were being brought back to reality, causing an angry grumble to leave your lips.
“Y/N?” Tom whispered groggily, rubbing his eyes a bit as he looked down at your curled up figure facing away from him. “I couldn’t sleep.” You mumbled, your eyes continuing to stay closed as you felt the bed shift a bit, assuming Tom was now sitting up. “So you..” Tom’s voice trailed off, his eyes lingering on you as you let out a sigh.
“I didn’t want to be alone okay?” You whispered, letting out a small huff as you turned on your other side, now facing him as your eyes slowly fluttered open. “Every time I closed my eyes I saw him, and I just- I couldn’t do it Tom.” You whispered, your voice cracking as Tom’s eyes softened. “Hey, it’s okay, I’m glad you felt like you could come to me.” Tom cooed, brushing a strand of hair out of your face as your eyes trailed over his face.
“I just wasn’t expecting to turn over and find you laying next to me s’all, I could’ve kicked you or somethin’ darling, I’m a reckless sleeper.” Tom chuckled lightly, causing a smile to appear on your lips as you rolled your eyes in response.
“Trust me, I know, the second I slipped into the bed you were already moving around.” You teased, earning a smile from him in response. “Well, since you’ve already witnessed it, don’t be afraid to move me if I end up laying on you.” Tom chuckled, as you let out a snort in response.
“Oh I will, don’t you worry.” You winked, a laugh leaving your lips as you closed your eyes once more, a content sigh leaving your lips as your body began to relax once again. You could feel Tom shuffling around next to you, causing the bed to move around a bit. With the bed constantly moving you knew you were never going to be able to fall asleep, so, you did the only thing you could think of to get him to stay still.
In one swift motion you turned on your side, your back now facing him as you pressed yourself up against his chest, grabbing his arm gently as you draped it over your stomach, your hand intertwining with his.
You could feel his heart pounding in his chest and you were sure his eyes were wide in surprise, but in this current moment you really didn’t care, you were sleep deprived and all you wanted was to go to sleep.
“Y/N-” Tom began, his voice quiet but you were quick to cut him off, “Go to sleep Thomas.” You whispered, pressing your lips gently against the back of his hand, sending chills up his arms as you buried your face into the blankets.
Tom let out a breath he didn’t realize he had been holding in, before he finally began to relax, letting his head rest against his pillow, only for it to end up being buried in your hair, the faint smell of cherry blossoms filling his nose before his eyelids fluttered shut and everything went dark.
You woke up the next morning a bit confused, having forgotten you were back at your home and not at Harrison’s. You rubbed your eyes tiredly as you observed your surroundings, your eyes widening when you realized you weren’t in your room, but instead were in Tom’s.
You lifted your head up a bit to see the space next to you empty, your brows furrowing in curiosity as to where Tom could be. With your mind getting the best of you, you forced yourself out of his bed, opening the bedroom door slowly and peaking your head out.
You scrunched your nose up as you smelt the air, the familiar scent of eggs and bacon filling your nose. As quietly as you could you made your way down the hallway, entering the kitchen where Jacob was sitting at the table, and Tom was busy cooking breakfast.
You couldn’t help but observe Tom, your eyes picking up on the smallest things, like the way his hair was a lot curlier and a bit fluffier than usual due to his bed hair, and the way his black t-shirt clung to his body, defining his toned chest a bit more than when he wore his white one, and then there were his gray sweatpants.
You could feel your face heating up just looking at them, they were hung loosely on his hips, which you knew he probably did on purpose, but that’s not what got you all hot and bothered, no, it was the fact you could faintly see the beginning of his v-line.
You felt the blood creep up into your cheeks, causing you to look away immediately before you got caught staring.
You knew you shouldn’t be feeling any of these emotions, Tom was just your roommate, he hooks up with girls for fun, he’s not into committed relationships, and even though you kept reminding yourself of these things, you couldn’t help what you were still feeling on the inside. Your heart was telling you one thing while your brain was telling you another, and you had no idea which one was right.
Deciding to finally make yourself present you made your way over towards Tom, grabbing your mug out of the cabinet where you had left it, and then pouring yourself a cup of coffee. You blew on the steaming liquid, before raising the mug to your lips, about to take a sip when Tom cleared his throat, glancing over at you.
“I thought you put two sugars in your coffee?” He questioned, raising a brow at you as you stared at him in surprise. “You remember that?” You smiled softly, noticing a light tint of pink rise on his cheeks as he licked his lips. “Of course I do, you had it pretty much every morning.” Tom chuckled, flipping a few pieces of bacon as you sipped your drink.
“I always made sure to set out the black coffee for you because I knew if I didn’t you’d kick my ass, and no offense or anything, but you’re scary when you don’t have your coffee.” Tom chuckled, earning a playful glare from you in response.
“And then once you’d have your cup you’d always add two sugars.” Tom continued on, not realizing he had been talking the entire time while you stood there in amazement. “I never realized you did all that for me.” You admitted, leaning your back against the counter as his eyes flickered over towards you then back to the food.
“Are you lovebirds done in there? I’m starving.” Jacob complained, earning a scowl from Tom while you choked on your coffee. “Fuck Y/N, are you alright?” Tom questioned worriedly, placing his hand gently on your back as you coughed, your eyes watering a bit as you regained your breath.
“Yup! I’m good! Great!” You spoke between breaths, wiping your eyes as Tom’s soft ones scanned over your face. “You sure?” He questioned, his voice a bit quieter this time as his thumb wiped away a tear that was trickling down your cheek.
Your eyes widened a bit, staring at him in surprise as your breath hitched in your throat. “Not anymore.” You mumbled, your eyes flickering down to his lips for a split second, which he noticed immediately, causing his body to tingle.
“I’m gonna..” You motioned over towards the table, scrunching your face up a bit as you grabbed your coffee, “I’m gonna go sit down, mhm, that’s what I’m going to do.” You nodded, giving him a nervous smile and a thumbs up as you hurriedly made your way over towards the kitchen table.
You sat yourself across from Jacob, your eyes squinting at him as he gave you a knowing smirk. “When are you just going to admit you feel something for him? It’s so obvious! It almost hurts me how obvious it is!” Jacob ranted in a hushed tone, causing you to swat your hand at him.
“I don’t know what I feel okay? My emotions are all over the place at the moment.” You hissed at him, as Tom made his way over to the table, setting down a plate for Jacob, himself, and you.
“I heard the chef made this with a lot of love so I know it’s going to be exquisite.” Tom grinned, pinching his fingers together before kissing them and blowing it off into the air. You couldn’t help but laugh at how dorky he was, while Jacob just snorted at how stupid he was being.
“I never knew you could cook Tom.” You stated while placing a scoopful of eggs into your mouth while Jacob was chewing on some bacon. “It’s because I’m lazy, I can cook, I just don’t ever feel like doing it.” Tom shrugged, taking a bite of his bacon as you nodded in response.
You all three eventually finished eating, Jacob was done first due to the fact he had a meeting, thus leaving you and Tom alone. You were helping him clean up the dishes from breakfast, a tenseness between the two of you. “So can we talk about last night?” Tom finally brought up, breaking the ice as he heard you let out a sigh.
“What about it?” You questioned, trying to play it off. “Oh I don’t know, just you sneaking into my room and y’know climbing into my bed, oh and the fact that you literally pressed your body into mine and kissed my hand?” Tom named off each thing, then turned around to face you, his eyebrows raised.
You sucked in your bottom lip, chewing it nervously as he waited for you to answer. “It’s like I said Tom, I just didn’t want to be alone s’all.” You shrugged your shoulders, drying a pan as you avoided eye contact with him. “Bullshit.” Tom stated bluntly, placing his towel down on the counter as you looked up at him.
“Excuse me?” You questioned, placing one of your hands on your hips as Tom looked you up and down. “You heard me.” He replied, a smug smirk on his face as he crossed his arms. “Are we really going to do this? Right now?” You questioned, licking your lips as you raised a brow at him.
“Depends if you give me an honest answer or not.” Tom shrugged his shoulders, a glint in his eye as you let out a small laugh. “What do you want me to say Tom?” You raised your brows, almost taunting him as his brown eyes darkened slightly. “That you want me as bad as I want you.” Tom stated simply, a smirk on his lips as your mouth dropped open in shock.
“As if I’d ever want you!” You scoffed, shaking your head as he let out a chuckle. “Oh please, I saw how you were looking at me earlier! Don’t think I didn’t see you look at my lips!” Tom stated, taking a few steps towards you as your face flushed a light red color.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You whispered, turning your head to the side as he grinned at your response. “Oh but I think you do.” He hummed, now standing right in front of you, trapping you against the counter as his hand gently gripped your chin, turning your head to face him.
You could feel your heart rapidly beating in your chest, your eyes wide as Tom looked down at you, his bottom lip sucked in between his teeth, his brows furrowed in thought. You weren’t sure what overcame you in that moment, whether it was due to the fact that he had you trapped against a counter, or that he just looked insanely hot with his lip between his teeth.
You just knew one thing for sure, you wanted him, right here, right now.
“Fuck it.” You muttered, wrapping one of your arms around his neck, your hand finding its way into his curly hair as your other cupped his cheek, as you pressed your lips against his in a fiery passion.
There was no going back now.
