Anonymous sent: was jade disappointed when his housewarden ob'd?
Tumblr media
You can say disappointment has never crossed Jade's mind at that moment. I know it has been mentioned across multiple canon lines that Jade is not less flippant than Floyd and switches up his interests just as frequently as it fits his taste, but Azul and Floyd have been the only constants in Jade's life since he was born up until the present timeline, and the octatrio has not been showing hints or desires of ever having intentions to separate. (and take these words with a grain of salt because I vaguely remember reading it somewhere but I can't remember exactly where) that the whole reason Jade and Floyd even enrolled in NRC is because Azul brought up the idea first.
Additionally, what Jade thinks of Azul and Floyd, or what the Octatrio thinks of each other honestly, is something a bit more complicated as they can sometimes be unreliable narrators when they're speaking from their own POVs. The best place I could think of to start from is Azul's confession that despite knowing Jade since kindergarten, some things about Jade are still a mystery to him, he describes Jade as 'cold and calculative', and that he 'lacks empathy', but what Azul might not know is that while that is true about Jade to a lot of people, that does not extent to him. What can be solidified about this is we get to see Azul's real opinions of Jade when he's not playing Mafia boss, and yet Jade's actions suggest otherwise: he's traded his losses for the benefit of Mostro Lounge, he's unconditionally very giving when it comes to Azul and Floyd's desires, he knows them like the back of his hand - from their dislikes, likes, interests, and disinterests to why they exhibit certain attitudes and the reasons behind them, and Jade has never asked for anything back as repayment or named a price. This is Jade's way of showing that he genuinely cares about someone. Almost nothing Jade says is reliable most of the time, but one thing we can take note of is that Jade's actions never lie.
From Azul's side, I believe Jade implied once that Azul was the one who taught him everything he knew about human customs. From formal writing to accounting skills, to human customs and their business models. The thing we concluded from this? Azul, despite being someone whose belief is rooted in believing that relationships can only benefit if they're strictly transactional, taught all of this to Jade for free. Azul. Doing something for free. Unheard of.
I believe Jade noticed this/is aware of it himself. But Jade is in no position to discuss that because he's also doing things for Mostro Lounge for free. What I'm saying is, these "debts" between Azul and Jade, doing each other favours for free for years, have evolved into several records of messy instances where "I owe you something, then you owe me something else", it's tabs that can no longer be fully repaid or calculated because that is how long it has been going on. So neither Jade or Azul care about it anymore, but they are comfortable with waiving all so-called debts with each other and simply continue doing what they were doing before, to remain status quo.
The unreliable narrator's POV, in my opinion, makes them more interesting. You'd have to avoid taking something one of them says at face value and get statements from the other side as well before you can try and decipher the truth. As far as my opinion goes, while Jade does indeed worship Azul, his "worship" of Azul is not that of a mindless religious extremist. He worships Azul for his ability to achieve godly feats despite being mortal, and that is what makes Azul eternally interesting and deserving of his respect. A mortal who can achieve godly feats — but a mortal nonetheless, Jade does not expect perfection from Azul. He liked him just the way he is, he does not want Azul to evolve into something greater or lesser. He simply wants Azul to remain the way he has always been and never change. That is Jade's expectation of Azul, and Azul has never disappointed.
So if this is the history behind their relationship, what's stopping Jade from making Azul his first priority and abandoning his mission upon hearing that he overblotted?

hi val can you maybe write something about the reader being dared to kiss peter/tom/arvin (you choose) since her friends knew that she has a big crush on him, but once she did he seems disinterested after which makes her sad, but what she doesn't know was after she kissed him, he practically runs to his friends freaking out that the girl he's had his eyes on this whole time just kissed him??
kiss and tell
Tumblr media
w/c: 1.8k
warnings: like one swear and awkwardness
a/n: yeeee i went with peter! this is adorable :,)
“i can’t!” you scold betty and her annoying smirk. you’re bored at lunch, so liz suggested the three of you play truth or dare. you’d made the mistake of choosing dare. in your defense, betty is the nosiest person in all of midtown, so you thought you were dodging the bullet and guarding your deep dark secrets. how could you have known she’d make you do... this?
“that’s so, like, forward. he’s gonna freak out.” you glance over at peter’s table to see what he’s up to before you possibly scar him. he’s laughing along at a heated conversation ned and mj are having. the way his face lights up, and his eyes crinkle as a smile crosses his features, it gives you butterflies throughout your whole body.
“in a good way,” liz grins her most charming grin at you. it’s not working this time. you roll your eyes up to the ceiling. “i thought you liked him,” betty huffs, gesturing over to peter and keeping her eyes on you. “all you do is talk about how he’s so cute and smart, and his lips look so soft-“ “i never said that!” you look at her with wild eyes. liz bites her lip to hold in a laugh. “the last part, i mean,” you clarify in a murmur.
liz puts a hand on you and pats your shoulder knowingly. “you’ve probably thought it, though. i’ve seen you checking them out.” there have been quite a few times your gaze has landed on peter’s lips, watching them curve while he talks to you about some new science theory he’s excited to share. you end up zoning out and pretending you retained any of what he said. betty puckers her own lips at you.
“you wanna kiss him,” she insists in a sing song voice, resting her chin on your other shoulder. “i’m doing you a favor.” “you’re really not gonna change the dare?” you sigh, your friends leaning on you in support. liz taps your cheek. “so, you don’t wanna kiss him?” “there’s no way,” betty comments from your side. “no, i...” you start, focusing in on peter again.
he meets your eyes across the cafeteria. his smile fades slightly, then a shy one is replacing it, ned dragging him into his and mj’s debate. you turn back to liz and betty.
“i do, but do you think he wants me to?” you ask them both, and they share a you have to be kidding look. “only one way to find out.” liz gives your shoulder a nudge. betty beams at you. “i triple dog dare you now, so you have to.” considering your options, you bounce your leg up and down. you’ll either get the nicest rejection ever from peter or a kiss back. you can handle this.
“ok, i’ll do it,” you decide, betty clapping her hands and squealing. liz throws an arm around your neck. “yay! i love love.” “let’s calm down,” you giggle so she doesn’t get too carried away. you and peter haven’t even established that you like each other. “i’m calm, i’m calm. do you need to borrow chapstick?” she offers, betty simultaneously pulling a tube out of her purse. “or lip gloss?”
you’re appreciating their over involvement now.
“both,” you breathe out, letting them get you ready for your big kiss.
liz and betty send you good luck wishes in a hushed tone while you make your way to peter’s table. mj went to get a snapple, and ned went with her so they could continue whatever argument they’re in. that left peter by himself. it’s almost like this is meant to happen.
“hi,” you greet peter, making him look up at you with raised eyebrows. he notices right away that your lips are shiny, more so than usual. a color that you always seem to bring to his face takes over his cheeks. “hey. you wanna sit?” he gives you a small smile. you return it. “yeah, sure. thanks.” instead of taking the bench across from him like he assumed you would, you find your place next to him.
he doesn’t mind.
“how’s your day been?” you wonder, body turned towards him while he answers. peter scrunches his nose. “kinda busy. i got so much homework in spanish tonight, and i’ve been putting off this essay about...” you do the thing you do every time he goes off on a sort of tangent, watch his lips. lucky for you, that’s the whole point today. “i don’t know. all i have so far is the intro-“
you cut peter off with a kiss. liz and betty cheer to each other the second it happens. peter doesn’t move, only freezes up as you press your glossy lips to his and grab his shoulders. it takes a few seconds for you to realize he’s not kissing back. his arms are stiff at his sides, eyes wide in shock. absolutely humiliated, you pull back, moving as far away as you can.
“fuck, i’m sorry. i should’ve asked you first,” you apologize, voice shaking. you’re already getting to your feet. peter blinks a few times, grounding himself back in the moment. “no, no. it’s okay. i-“ “that was weird, i know. you don’t have to lie or make me feel better.” he furrows his eyebrows, in a way that seems regretful even though you’re the one who messed up. “i’m trying to tell you, y/n. it’s fine. we-“
ned’s voice fills the room, making you snap your head in his direction. him and mj are coming back. you need to get out of here before you embarrass yourself even more.
“i’m gonna go. i’m sorry,” you mumble out, running back to your table, where liz and betty are instantly asking what’s wrong and if you’re alright. peter licks his lips that are now coated in your gloss and clenches his jaw. he’s pissed. not at you, at himself. it’s clear because mj brings attention to it when she sits down.
“what’s up with your face?” she narrows her eyes at him, popping the cap on her snapple. ned elbows peter in his spot next to him. you were just there less than a minute ago. “you okay, dude?” he checks. “no.” peter closes his eyes in frustration. “what’s wrong?” ned kicks mj’s foot under the table so she’ll stop making out with her drink and help him.
“i... y/n kissed me,” peter admits, sounding oddly upset about something everyone knows he’s been hoping would happen. “she what?” ned gawks. “isn’t that a good thing?” mj points out. “you love her.” “like her,” peter corrects and chews the inside of his cheek. “whatever. shouldn’t you want her to kiss you?” she takes another sip of snapple, passing this off to ned.
“yeah...” is all ned says. he awkwardly rubs peter’s back while mj tries not to snort. “that’s not the problem. i didn’t kiss her back, and she took it as me not being into it,” peter shakes his head as he recounts your weird moment. “which i was,” he tells them for the record. ned makes a funny face at him. “so why didn’t you kiss back?” “no shit she ran away,” mj mutters to him. she saw that part.
“because i wasn’t expecting it!” peter frowns at his friends’ reactions and at what he did. “you guys know how much i like y/n. i can’t believe i screwed this up so bad.” mj squints in mock confusion. “i can.” she quickly drops her sarcasm for encouragement after that. “ok, seriously. just go find her and apologize.” “maybe kiss her this time,” ned chimes in.
“if she really likes you, she’ll get it.” mj smiles genuinely, nodding back at your table. ned gives him a push forward. “you got this, dude. come tell us all about it after.” a rush of confidence enters peter from their advice. he’ll fix this. “thanks, guys. here i go.” he shoots up from the table, ned and mj getting back into their debate once he’s out of sight.
betty is hugging you way too tightly when peter gets over there. she goes on about how much peter sucks, overcompensating because she’s the reason you kissed him. you only hum in response. you don’t have the heart to tell her you blame yourself. only liz notices peter come over, so she talks on your behalf. “oh, hey,” she says drily. “hey. can i talk to y/n?” peter gets out, twiddling with his thumbs nervously.
she has to decide if she’d rather go into protective friend mode or let him. from your unenthusiastic responses to betty’s hate rant, she figures you’d like to hear him out.
“come on, betty,” liz takes her arm suddenly, betty trying to pull it back. “what? why?” “i’m gonna buy you ice cream. let’s go.” that’s her cover. peter shoots her a look that says thank you, liz pressing her lips into a line and dragging betty along. betty sees peter standing in front of your table and glares at him, liz walking faster. you don’t get the chance to ask them where they’re going because they leave so fast.
the bench dips down on one side of you, making someone’s prescense known. you’re surprised to find it’s peter. you talk first.
“if you’re gonna apologize, don’t. it was my fault-“ “you never let me finish earlier,” peter interrupts, the hint of a smile on his face. his clammy hand links with one of yours. “what were you gonna say?” you ask quietly, peter threading your fingers together. your heart is racing at the simple touch. “that i like you,” he replies at the same low volume. “and, that i wanted to try again.”
he’s sitting a lot closer to you than you realized. you welcome it, your hands in between you two on the bench. “i like you too... try what again?” you question, although you hope and pray it’s what you think. “kissing,” peter says what you were hoping and praying for. “wasn’t ready the first time.” you’re about to go into cardiac arrest as he rests his forehead on yours, curls brushing your face. a few broken up breaths escape him.
“can i?” he nearly whispers, warm hand still gripping at yours. “yeah,” you agree before your eyes flutter shut. he wastes no time, parting his lips and brushing them against yours gently, you reciprocating. he kisses as sweetly as he is, his free hand on your cheek and fingers careessing your skin. your other hand ends up on the back of his neck. you grin against him, lips detaching momentarily so you can engage him in another kiss.
peter doesn’t hesitate to kiss back this time, nose nudging yours as he moves in more. you tug on some hair at the nape of his neck and laugh into the kiss, reminding him you’re in school. he pulls back with a chuckle, but keeps his forehead on yours and your hands in each other.
“sorry. got too excited,” he laughs out, you leaning into his open palm. “i told you don’t apologize.”
liz and betty joined ned and mj at some point. the four of them are whistling at you and yelling out suggestive jokes. they’re too much. but, to be fair, you owe this all to them.

A Difficult Question
Word count: 3000
Warnings: continued second-hand embarrassment? 😉 tickling, fluff as always
This is in response to a prompt from @sigyn-laufeyson0609 for a sequel to An Embarrassing Secret. Thanks for the idea friend! 😊 I snuck in a little soft Loki toward the end, just to switch things up a little!
* * *
You had avoided Loki for a solid week after he had revealed he knew about your blog. Although he didn’t seem to find it as strange as you’d have expected him to, you couldn’t help but feel a little exposed. Your writing wasn’t something you’d intended to show anyone, much less the tall, handsome, alien god who made you feel giddy every time he said your name.
Despite your concern that he would tell the others, no one else so much as breathed a word about your little secret. Either they were too kind to say anything for fear of embarrassing you, or he truly hadn’t told anyone else. You hoped it was the latter, although you supposed it couldn’t get any worse than Loki finding out.
You couldn’t avoid him forever, though. The first time you ran into him, other than those brief moments in passing where you ducked your head or turned the other way, you were sitting in the library again, this time actually reading something rather than typing on your laptop. (No way were you risking leaving that out in public again…) Loki had entered the library without your knowledge, having been engrossed in the novel you were reading while sitting in one of the comfortable armchairs. A sudden squeeze to your side alerted you to his presence, causing you to jolt and whip your head around to find the god smirking down at you. He shot you a wink before continuing on to browse the shelves.
Somehow, that brief interaction had eased your anxiety around him. You didn’t really want to stay away from him, after all. And it seemed like he was going to treat the whole situation as a game, which in a strange way made you feel better about the whole situation. You would much rather he use this little secret for some lighthearted flirting versus making a big show about it.
So, you went back to your usual routines, no longer trying to shy away from him. He rewarded you with the occasional poke to the side while passing by you in the hallway, or a quick pinch to the soft skin above your knee during movie night with the team. And, maybe, you started trying to provoke him a little more. Doing little irritating things like stealing the last cookie right from under his nose or changing the channel during one of the rare moments he was actually watching something on the television usually earned you a couple extra scribbles to the belly, or a fluttering of fingers to the neck.
It never lasted longer than a couple seconds at most, though. Most of the time that was plenty for you, just long enough to make your heart beat faster with adrenaline and for heat to prickle in your cheeks.
But not today.
No, today you were really in the mood to be tickled senseless. You were even making sarcastic comments to some of the other Avengers, hoping that someone might just decide they’d had enough of your sass. Although no one else knew you actually enjoyed it, everyone was aware that you were more ticklish than the average person. It was uncommon for the others to take advantage of it, but on rare occasions Thor or Tony would dig their fingers into your ribs to get you to stop talking if you were being particularly annoying. Today, though, no one was getting the hint.
You didn’t see Loki until later that evening, when you stumbled across him in the common room. He was alone, sitting on the couch with his back leaned up against the cushions and his feet up on the coffee table. He had a book in his hand, which he seemed pretty focused on, turning a page every few seconds as his eyes skimmed across the aging pages.
“You’re hovering again,” he observed suddenly, never once lifting his gaze from his book. Startled, you left your position from the doorway and entered the room, taking a seat on the other side of the couch.
“I’ll never understand how you know people are there without even seeing them,” you marveled.
“I’ve told you before – it’s impossible to sneak up on me.”
“Well maybe I’ll be the first someday.” You sat back against the couch, and silence blanketed the room, save for the occasional crinkling of the pages of Loki’s book as he continued to read. You realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to try to provoke the Asgardian to tickle you – you were alone in the common room, and he seemed to be in a state of focus where he would be pretty irritated if you broke his concentration.
You wanted to be subtle, though. You wouldn’t want him to think you were asking for it, after all, and as he was the only person who knew about your secret, you figured he would see through you pretty quickly if you tried too hard. So, you started simple by leaning forward and picking up the remote from the coffee table, turning on the television. You found a program he had previously expressed disinterest in and set the channel to that, settling back against the couch cushions, and turning up the volume.
Loki was silent despite all of this, so you stole a glance in his direction. His brow was furrowed a little, but his gaze was still fixed on the pages of his novel. Need to try harder, you thought to yourself. You cranked up the volume a little more and laughed a little extra loud at every joke. After trying this for a few minutes, you risked another glance in his direction.
Nothing. Not even a flinch.
You were starting to get a little desperate. The desire for someone to tickle you had settled itself like a flame in your belly, and it had been slowly building all day long. But you were too proud, too embarrassed to just come out and ask for it. You had to find another way.
You turned your body so you were leaning back against the arm of the couch and stretched your legs out across the couch cushions, your feet only inches away from Loki’s leg. This time, you didn’t even chance looking over at him, knowing he wouldn’t try anything if he thought you were expecting it. You sat still for a maddening amount of time without finding any success in your attempts. You stretched one leg out a little further and tapped his leg with your foot.
Nothing.
You tried again, this time with a little more force. At long last, the trickster looked up from his book to glare at you.
“Can I help you?” he asked, his tone flat.
“Uhh… no, sorry,” you replied quickly. He turned his attention back to his book, and you turned back to the TV, feeling a bit deflated. Your mood was still gnawing at your insides, though, and you weren’t quite ready to give up just yet.
You waited a few moments, trying to think of another way to get on his nerves. Maybe you just needed to try a different angle.
“So… watcha reading?” you inquired.
“Shakespeare,” he stated without looking up.
“Oh. That’s really old though, isn’t it?”
“’Old’ is a relative term. What you consider ‘old’ is actually quite new for someone my age.”
“Right. Because you’re old too,” you snickered. This got him to look up at you again finally.
“Pardon?” he asked, his eyes narrowing.
“Well, like you said, ‘old’ is relative. So, compared to me, you’re really old.” You held his gaze, a triumphant grin threatening to spread across your face.
“Yes, I am ‘old’ compared to you I suppose. And yet, you still seem to like what you see.”
Your face flushed hot.
“I- well- that’s not… never mind,” you huffed, turning away from him once again. You heard his book snap shut, the cover making a small thumping sound as he set it down on the table.
“You seem a bit off today. Is there something with which you require assistance?” You glanced up to find his blue-green eyes fixed on you. It was difficult to read his expression – he wasn’t annoyed, but he wasn’t overtly amused, either.
“What? No. Why do you ask?”
“Well, you’re watching a television show you and I both know you hate, laughing loudly and turning the volume up, and just generally trying to capture my attention,” he listed. “If I didn’t know any better, I would assume you were trying to get me to tickle you.”
“W-what!? Pshh. That’s… that’s ridiculous,” you stammered, folding your arms defiantly across your chest. “Just because I don’t mind it doesn’t mean I would ask for it.”
“I see.” Loki sat back against the couch again, picking up his novel and reopening it to his bookmarked page. “So, you won’t mind if I go back to reading in peace, then?”
“Nope,” you affirmed, popping the P for emphasis. You leaned back into your seat once again, your arms still crossed. You changed the channel to another show you were more interested in so you could try to forget about this whole thing by distracting yourself.
Once again, the room fell silent, with the exception of the voices on the television and the flipping of Loki’s book pages. Your heart sank deeper in your chest in disappointment. You almost had him there – why did he have to go and ruin it by observing out loud that you wanted to be tickled?
“Honestly, y/n, you look as if someone put something sour in your drink,” Loki said finally, placing his book back on the coffee table.
“I’m fine,” you insisted flatly, refusing to look at him.
“I’ve told you before – if you want me to tickle you, all you have to do is ask.” You observed him in your peripheral vision, your stomach swooping at the mischievous gleam in his eyes.
“No,” you stated.
“No? No what? No, you don’t want me to tickle you? Or no, you refuse to ask?”
“Just… no.” You pulled your feet closer to your body, sitting crisscross on the couch with your arms still folded across your torso. Loki chuckled, a smirk tugging at his lips.
“You sound like a petulant child.”
“Do not!” you argued. Loki didn’t respond – he merely held his hand out at you, silently noting that you’d proven his point. You huffed and turned away from him, pretending to turn your focus back to the television.
“I know exactly what you’re trying to do, darling,” he sang, scooting closer to you on the couch. “You are hoping to provoke me sufficiently to make me retaliate and tickle you. You’ve been doing so since you saw me from the doorway. Don’t try to deny it.”
Heat was crawling up your neck into your cheeks again, and you squeezed your mouth shut, shaking your head defiantly. He shuffled a bit closer, now only inches away from you. “I’m sorry to tell you, dear, but you’re going to have to ask me properly.” You let out an involuntary groan at that, your heart pounding at the sheer proximity of the god beside you. “Use your words, darling. What is it that you want?”
Your resolve was breaking. This whole exchange was only enhancing your lee mood, and he’d made it clear that you wouldn’t get anything out of him without actually coming out and asking for it bluntly. It was difficult to form the words in your mouth.
“I… erm… could you… uh…”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t quite catch that,” he teased, his smirk broadening.
“Could you… would you, maybe… couldyoutickleme?” The words finally came tumbling out of your mouth, and as soon as you said it you found yourself pinned down on the couch, the god of mischief hovering over you with a victorious smirk on his face.
“Now, y/n, was that really so difficult?” Before you had the chance to tell him exactly how difficult it was, he cut you off by digging his fingers into your ribcage. He knew it was a weaker spot, drawing rambunctious laughter from you as you grasped his wrists. You weren’t really making any effort to try to push him away, of course, but it gave you something to do with your hands. “For someone who wanted this so badly, you’re making it exceedingly difficult with your incessant squirming.”
“I cahahan’t help ihihit!!” you exclaimed, arching your back as his fingers darted down to your belly. He wouldn’t give you the chance to get accustomed to one spot, quickly moving to scribble into your sides or drill his thumbs into your hips. It was exactly what you’d been hoping would happen all day today, and yet still you could barely handle it as ticklish shocks wracked through your body.
“Let’s see, now – where else are you ticklish? I don’t have your little narratives open for reference this time, so I suppose I’m going to have to find out for myself,” he pondered aloud, tone laced with mischief. “Ah! How about here?” Loki slipped his fingers under your arms, causing you to clamp them down to your sides. That didn’t stop him, though, continuing to vibrate his fingers into your uppermost ribs. The sensation made you shriek, throwing your head back and laughing with abandon.
“Nohoho Loki! Not there!” you cried, feebly pulling at his wrists as much as you could with your arms pressed to your sides.
“No? On the contrary, dear, I think it’s a perfectly effective spot.” You twisted involuntarily, accidentally rolling off the couch and face first onto the floor with a thud. Loki was at your side in a flash, kneeling beside you with a hand on your shoulder. “Are you alright?”
“Y-yehehes,” you giggled, heart fluttering at the idea that he was so concerned about you possibly being hurt. You turned to roll onto your back to look up at him, but he pressed down on your shoulder, holding you in place.
“Where do you think you’re going?” he asked ominously, his fingers moving to dig into your ribcage with renewed vigor. Not being able to see his hands was so much better worse. You tried desperately to roll onto your side but each time he would shift both hands to the newly exposed side, forcing you to roll back onto your stomach to protect the sensitive skin there. “Shall I ‘go in for the kill’ as they say?”
“No! Don’t! Anything but that!” you pleaded, although you both knew your heart wasn’t really in it.
“Sorry, darling, but as I recall, you did ask for this.” With that, his fingertips scribbled into that wretched spot on the back of your upper ribs. You kicked your feet against the floor in ticklish agony, your laughter pitching up an octave. Before long, your laughter grew silent, prompting him to ease up on you and scratch lightly at your sides. You turned to roll onto your back, and he allowed it this time, chuckling at your disheveled state. You took a moment to catch your breath, chest heaving with exertion, and you twitched occasionally when his fingertips found an extra sensitive spot on your side.
Loki’s fingers stilled against your sides, and you frowned up at him, feeling a sense of loss without his touch. He laughed heartily at that, a genuine smile spreading across his lips.
“Silly girl, was that not enough for you? Do you need me to continue?” Before waiting for your answer, he reached down and fluttered his fingers behind both knees. You squealed in surprise, giggles spilling from your lips. Loki sat on your shins to avoid any accidental kicks to the face, shifting to knead at the soft skin just above your knee on your inner thigh. You hadn’t anticipated just how unbearably ticklish that spot could be.
“Wait wait wahahait!! Stahahap!!” you cried, trying desperately to yank your legs out from under the Asgardian.
“Ah, I see I’ve identified a new– what do you call it? ‘Death spot’?”
Your laughter was growing hoarse, and Loki took this as his cue to let up again, getting up off your legs and kneeling beside you. You were exhausted, but the endorphins coursing through your veins made you feel giddy.
“That… that was mean,” you said breathlessly.
“I’ll remind you once again, you asked for it,” he retorted.
Loki stood up and offered you a hand to help you off the floor, which you gratefully accepted. You stood there awkwardly for a moment, not certain what to say. For the first time, you noticed Loki was also at a loss for words; his hand moved to the back of his neck, and he glanced around the room, uncertainty in his eyes.
On a whim (or maybe it was just the residual adrenaline, you’ll never know) you leaned forward and wrapped your arms around the bewildered god in front of you.
“Thanks, Loki,” you whispered into his shoulder. He stood frozen for a moment before finally sliding his arms around you as well, squeezing you tight.
“Anytime, love,” he replied, his voice low and gruff, softer than you’d ever heard him speak. You hugged him for another moment before releasing the trickster and hurrying off to your room, hoping to hide away before you could say anything to ruin things.
And, you can bet, you would be doing some more writing tonight.

Dying Light (a yandere Zhongli x reader oneshot)
summary: Zhongli comes to claim his darling after she fails to fulfill her end of the contract
a/n I wish I could say this was requested but I love this man too much. Writing this one had me feeling some kind of way… Hope you all enjoy and leave some requests (pls do yandere Genshin 🤧 smh)!
Sincerely Coffee
Tumblr media
His dark hair shines vividly in the solemn moonlight. Amber eyes radiant, like the purest of diamonds, and fixated right on you. You stand before him and try to subtly shrink away under his piercing gaze. The candles in the room flicker from some gusts of wind coming in. Zhongli seems stiff and at attention, but at the same time far away, lost in thought. Your light and unconscious movement backwards out of fear, unnoticed by you, immediately snapped the archon’s thoughts back to you.
A ghost of a smile begins to dance its way onto his handsome face, a stark difference to the dangerous threats he had whispered into your ear just moments ago. The light gave him an eerie appearance.
“Darling Y/N, I’m afraid that you didn’t uphold your end of the bargain,” he frowned and cocked his head mockingly. You step backwards some more until your back hits the wall of the funeral parlor. He has a predatory gaze now as he steps forward and pins a hand on the surface next to your head. He leans forward to further take in your panic. It brought him distress to see that you weren’t comfortable around him.
“I’m sure you were a good girl and read the fine print. Surely you must be aware that at the end of our contract, if it was that you couldn’t fulfill your end of the deal, then you must join the greatest contract of all time with me?” he continues and runs another hand hand teasingly down your jaw.
“Perhaps you could entertain me and tell me what that greatest contract is?” you ask hesitantly. Beginning to feel the gravity of the situation as you notice the way the archon caresses you and looks at you with eyes filled with a dangerous sort of adoration.
“Oh Y/N, you’ve been bad, I thought you understood everything when you signed. I mean marriage of course,” he answered gleefully, eyes sparkling with affection and excitement at your shocked expression.
Yes, just when did this feeling for you begin, he had pondered to himself. There was no mistaking that these emotions he felt for you were love. He was sure that you also loved him, so why did you look so afraid? He would show you again how perfect the two of you are.
- - -
Zhongli is not one to break his word. He is the archon of contracts after all. When you had approached him, as Rex Lapis, a few months ago he had decided to learn much more about you.
You were an interesting mortal and had almost immediately caught the God’s attention. The geo archon had taken to shying away from the affairs of humans over the last hundred years or two. However he tended to make exceptions for interesting people with even more interesting requests.
“I’d like to ask for some help,” your melodic voice said, breaking the silence in Rex Lapis’s abode. “If that means signing into a contract with you, then I accept,”
He appeared near you in an instant, “Even if that means not getting the best deal?” he asks, startling you slightly.
“Yes,” you breathe out lightly.
“Hmm, you’ve caught my interest,” he responds, putting a hand to his chin, as if he was thinking long and hard about a potential deal with you, “do go on with what you need my help for” he finishes. Of course, he already knew what you needed. He had been watching you for quite a while, but he loved hearing your voice and being near you for once.
“I need to find someone and I can’t do it by myself. Could you please lend me your strength and assistance as I look for this person” you practically begged him. Oh how he wanted to hear your begging in a different context. It was taking everything within him to not tug you by your hair and bring you to his side forever by force. He knew that you probably wouldn’t appreciate that and he still had to do his job and draft a contract. That is when the idea had struck him to skillfully find a way to keep you with him forever.
“Very well, let us start writing up a contract then,” he pronounces with a tone of disinterest, secretly preening with joy on the inside. You perk up and smile largely at him, it brought him satisfaction knowing that he made you feel like that.
“Alright that should be everything,” he finishes and removes his quill from the scroll. “I will come to you whenever you need help, all you must do is call out my name. As for my benefit, all you need to do is find this person you hold dear and that will be enough for me. You have the next 70 days to complete this, of course there will be a punishment if you can’t fulfill your end. However I have the most faith in your skills.” you nod at him in confirmation as you take the pen from him and leave a scrawling signature on the paper. A glowing binding tying you to the archon, prompting you to blush at how close the two of you were now. “Don’t disappoint me, Y/N'' he whispered and let you leave his abode with a smile. The first step in his plan to make you his was finished. Time to wait for your inevitable failure.
Now he wasn’t going to actively make you fail, he still was true to his job and bound himself to you so that you could call him for help. He would still assist you as well. However, he agreed to what you wanted because he knew the task itself was impossible. This brother you were looking for was long gone for sure, he made sure of that before he signed on to your contract. He couldn’t wait for when the two of you would finally be spending the next few weeks together.
Zhongli was smart about the way he conducted himself around you. He was careful not to give you any hints of his true intentions. Sometimes though there would be foolish people who pushed him. Whenever he saw you talking with, brushing arms with, or giving attention to others, the archon would be fuming. Of course, he would let it simmer, playing for the long game instead. It never failed to make him angry and anxious that these insignificant mortals thought they had a change with his future wife, it caused him to let out a tsch in annoyance.
The two of you had wonderful moments in your quest. Your ability to work well together in battle allowed for quick defeats of random hilichurls on the journey. Truly your skills were something he admired and loved about you.
The first night you left a parting goodnight kiss on his cheek was what made him truly believe in life again. Your warm lips against his skin ignited a flame within him that he didn’t know he yearned to have lit.  It began to become a sort of tradition between you two for the next months.
His favorite moment with you by far was when the two of you had been drinking and you allowed him to come into your bed. Now, not in THAT way. You didn’t like how he had been sleeping on the ground whenever you spent the night in a tavern so you told him to just sleep in the bed with you. It had been an awkward fit at first due to his taller frame. His long limbs were cramped painfully so you let him wrap his arms carefully around your body. Both of you take in and are intoxicated by the other’s warmth. He could get used to the way you faced him and nuzzled your face into his neck. He had fallen asleep and had the most wonderful rest for the first time in a while.
After the two of you woke up and cuddled in the morning, “Should the day ever come where we are not together, you will continue to shine like gold in my memories” he had smiled and gently taken your hand into his own as he brushed his lips softly against your knuckles. His words and soft actions prompting a light blush across your face.
He didn’t know how much longer he could wait for you. Every moment he was with you, but not truly in the way he desired wound him up more and more. He knew he would snap very soon.
- - -
You tremble against the cold breeze and his warm touch as he leans closer to you and captures your warm lips with his own in a passionate kiss. His hands traveling down further onto your flushed skin.
Now that you were his in an unbreakable bond, he finally felt at ease. With you, Zhongli felt at home for the first time in thousands of years. He would protect you from any and all threats. If it meant keeping you safe with him, then he would tear apart all of Teyvat. After all, you belonged to this archon now.
As the sun begins to rise, you notice the dying light within the parlor, fading candles leaving behind a darker atmosphere. A perfect metaphor you think, if he kept touching you like this then you knew that your own resolve would also die out, completely accepting the ownership that he had over you.
Zhongli notices your wandering gaze before he takes your face between his slender fingers and forces you to look up at him. “Perhaps you’ve forgotten how much you mean to me. Let me remind you,” he announces as he lifts you up and brings you towards his room. Indeed, he would be spending the next few hours reminding you of his love, before you embark on the next chapter of your lives together, courtesy of his subclause turning you into an adeptus in addition to being his wife forever more. He had all the time in the world to get you to comply and love him as dearly as he loves you.
a/n why am I so in love with this man 🧎‍♀️

doubts and desires︱albedo x f!reader
Tumblr media
summary: letting go of the past is hard, but losing what you have now would be harder. leaving albedo is neither something you can do, or something you really want, it’s simply taken you a while to understand that. word count: 2k warnings: implied dubcon, stockholm syndrome, past kidnapping
Tumblr media
Even with how Albedo had bundled you up in a hat, scarf, gloves, and coat―it still failed to ward off the chill that seemingly sucked the warmth right from your body. Yet you said nothing about it, the unwanted attention it would draw from him inevitable if you made your discomfort known. And, you were almost certain he would drag you back to the cabin if he knew how the cold was treating you.
You didn’t enjoy the biting temperatures, but you didn’t want leave. Not when it’s been so long since you descended the mountain, that you barely even remember the feeling of snowfall against your skin.
The whole situation he’s placed you in is really quite foreign―confusing.
In how he’s letting you accompany him in his research, not far from his―your home. A safe distance, so to speak. Or that’s what he said, at least.
You realized that the way he spoke of this outing, how it’d just be the two of you, and that you wouldn’t venture very far; they were words of comfort. Not said to reassure himself that things would go smoothly, but to calm the look of trepidation in your eyes from the mere suggestion of going outside.
Now, seeing Albedo’s nonchalant demeanour while he studies the petrification of a fallen tree, it puts your mind at ease. Sure, if you look closely you’ll be able to see the way his eyes flicker to your form every few seconds or so, making sure you were right where he left you, but generally the alchemist is calm.
It makes you calm, for a moment it feels like you’re able to settle down and appreciate the intricate beauty of the snow swept mountain you stand upon. Best to do so now, knowing it wouldn’t be long until he would lead you home, sheltered safely away from the danger of the mountain’s climate.
“Oh―I didn’t know you were to be researching today, Albedo sir.”
With your back turned to the newly appeared stranger behind you, the cold that had seeped into your bones no longer posed as the only thing holding you in place―it was also now an icy fear.
You watched unmoving from your spot as Albedo gave pause, a hint of contemplation flashing across his face before standing.
“Timaeus. I thought you were studying back in the city.”
The man, who you had yet to properly address, responded with a somewhat nervous laugh.
“Yes, well I was, but it led me to do my own research out in the field…”
Always in a strangely graceful manner, Albedo dusted off his pants and straightened his jacket. A look of unashamed disinterest painted his expression as Timaeus rambled on about his findings.
Truly, you don’t recall Albedo ever showing such emotions with you―a detail not necessarily heartwarming, but still reassuring in an indescribable way.
Perhaps it was due to you being so sure that he’d rid himself of you when you no longer proved useful. Which made the swirling of affection and enamour in his eyes when he gazed upon you settle your nerves, even in just the slightest.
“...which I unfortunately have yet to procure. But―ah, I’ve gotten ahead of myself again. My apologies, how is your research coming along. And...who might you be?”
If Albedo recognized the look of severe anxiety flashing across your face, he paid no mind. Instead giving you a small, somewhat warm smile. As if to say, “Go ahead.”
The few seconds that passed were done in silence, you desperately trying to read Albedo’s face for ulterior motives, and the man behind you shuffling awkwardly in place while he waited for a response.
By some miracle, your body moved on autopilot, turning around to finally acknowledge the cause of your newfound distress. Only, you couldn’t even look him in the face.
Your mouth was dry, mind foggy and unable to think of a response that was anywhere near being coherent.
“...I―uh…”
“This is my new assistant. Please do forgive her, she’s quite shy.”
A shaky breath escaped your rigid body at the sound of Albedo’s voice, and the feeling of his hand resting gently upon the small of your back.
The blatant lie that only you and him recognized echoed inside your head.
Timaeus had no clue who you were, or what you meant to Albedo. But if he did know, you wondered what he would do.
“...Ah, it’s strange we’ve never met before.”
You could tell without looking that Timaeus was studying your form. With the way his tone shifted to something a little more unsettled, a pit grew in your stomach knowing how he had picked up on your questionable nervousness.
The hand resting on your back felt a little more heavy.
Albedo showed no signs of botherment, “That’s likely because she’s not from here.”
For some ungodly reason, the less experienced alchemist took this as an opportunity. “Oh, if that’s the case then we should show her around. Sucrose could use someone like herself to―”
“Actually, we were just leaving. I’m afraid I’ve kept her out in the cold too long, and descending the mountain any further is quite a reckless task in this weather―” His head turned to look at you, no longer addressing his student, “―right?”
If Timaeus was told of what his teacher had done to you, would he help? Even if he looks up to Albedo, even if everyone does, surely they would step in.
Only, the issue remained that first you’d have to prove to them you were in danger.
...And really, you weren’t. Not anymore.
The tender bruises around your wrists and ankles had healed long ago. Your health was in near perfect condition, what with how Albedo saw to it that you never did anything to put it at risk. A single and quick glance would show that you were so pristinely taken care of, complexion shining now that you no longer spent nights sleepless from fear.
What were you to even say?
Moreso, it remained true that you didn’t quite want to say anything.
Timaeus wouldn’t believe your truth, and Albedo would likely spin the scenario so that your words weren’t reliable anyways.
It dawned on you that Albedo knew this fact well, why else would he bring you with him if he wouldn’t still be entirely in control of the situation?
A simple movement, his hand drifted to your hip and gripped it firmly, urging.
Your voice, barely a whisper met his ears.
“...Of course…”
That was all he needed, sending an impatient, yet still neutral glance towards Timaeus, the smallest hint of self-satisfaction lingering in it.
His student took the hint.
_____
“I have to say, bringing you with me was quite...productive.”
After dinner, Albedo has you keep him company in his study. You, occupied with a book in a chair across from his desk, while he goes over his findings from the day’s outing.
“Research wise, I was able to study you in a foreign situation.” He continued, conversation one-sided, “The results were to my liking…”
Although construed in his ever sophisticated manner, his words told you that you did something right. He was proud, and that notion made the swell of a strange warmth in your heart grow.
The alchemist’s gaze remained downcasted at the papers strewn about in front of him while he spoke. “...I suppose you should be rewarded for such good behaviour.”
Your eyes flitted up, the story on your lap abandoned completely.
Albedo has never spoken of such a thing, not once entertaining the idea of rewards when he saw no reason to ever extend such gratitude. Even after all this time.
He must be especially pleased, you thought.
Perhaps, enough to grant you back even a small semblance of independence...that would most certainly be your wish.
You’d long grown used to his suffocating personality, the intense interest he paid you often resulting in little to no alone time. Albedo made sure you stayed in eyeshot, and in those inevitable times he needed to leave, he made them quick, and you were to be safely tucked away in the bedroom, door locked from the outside. There wasn’t a single detail he missed, no stone left unturned when trying to improve your security.
Unfortunately for you, it left little autonomy.
Just the smallest taste of self-reliance would be fine. You’d love to cook a nice meal, like the ones you used to make. Or perhaps to pick your own outfit one morning, something more your style than the things he put together for you. Any break from his constant guidance, no matter what shape or form, you’d gladly take―
“Why don’t you go get cleaned up then, I’ll meet you upstairs soon.”
Albedo neglected to look up as he spoke, and so he missed how the glimmer of anticipation in your eyes faded away. The way your shoulders dropped slightly, the look of disappointment flashing across your features in understanding of his words.
What he had planned, it was a reward...of sorts.
An excuse, as far as you saw it.
Albedo was known for testing the limits of living beings after all, and in certain ways, such studies extended to how he treats you. It’s a win win for him―he thinks it’s a reward, since he knows he can make you feel good, and doing so just shows him all those little things he can’t learn through idle observation. What makes you squirm or shy away with innocent embarrassment―information just as important as everything else he knows about you.
It doesn’t dissuade Albedo when he finally glances up to see what his offer has done, though the sight does make him feel as though he’s deceived you.
Still, he remains unapologetic. “While you gave me some good insight on how far you’ve...adjusted, I still can’t completely trust you. This merely turned out to be a good opportunity for satisfying your other needs―nothing more.”
Flipping open a nearby textbook, Albedo conveys wordlessly, a difficult habit of his, that the conversation has ended.
You, however, have yet to heed his words. Still seated, the once flickering of hope subsiding with each passing second. Call it grief, but you were sincerely expecting a different outcome. Though, knowing Albedo, and his constant need to grow more knowledgeable, you should’ve seen this coming.
“...I’d rather not have to force your compliance tonight. So, please―” He gestured towards the door with a wave of his hand, focus trained and brows barely knitted while he skims over his readings on the desk.
Honestly speaking, you once thought Albedo was a deeply confusing man. So too was the life he’d meticulously prepared, and swiftly forced you into. Yet, looking back, things may have been more simple than you once perceived.
Your only real job is to exist and comply. And you both know you’re not going anywhere, not going to say no. Especially now, given how effortless it feels to fall into routine, going through the motions of his request and carrying yourself upstairs.
Somewhere in the back of your mind, you realize it’s too late for you, what feels like an eternity spent at Albedo’s side having just about rendered your fighting spirit useless. It’s been long since replaced with what you’re coming to know as a certain fondness. You want to see the compassion in his eyes that’s sparked by your willing compliance.
It was a single, tangible goal. Not complex and unobtainable like those tasks of your past life. Attempts at obtaining those desires are futile, when today's events proved you genuinely no longer want them anymore.
It’s much easier to make Albedo proud. You don’t realize that you do it everyday, and that he’s just poor at conveying his own emotions...
Drawing yourself a bath, you wash away past doubts, settling with what your life has turned into.
Distantly, you hear Albedo make his way up the stairs and towards your bedroom. You like knowing what’s to come, which is always something you’ll have with him. You can’t say the same if you leave, and so you finally resolve that you never will.

Jealous : Fred Weasley x Reader
Summary: You’d known the Weasley twins since 1st year and had been pining after Fred nearly as long. You knew it wasn’t requited, Fred treated you like he treated Ginny, like a little sister. Your crush on him was painfully obvious, almost everyone knew except Fred. Still, you were holding out hope. Then Fred asked Angelina to the Yule Ball and you felt your heart spilt in two. But despite Fred’s apparent disinterest in you romantically, he still attempts to sabatoge all your dates and you’re getting sick of it.
Warnings: Swearing
Author’s note: Please interact! Also, I wrote this on my phone so sorry if the spelling and format is a bit wonky.
Tumblr media
“The Yule Ball is coming up,” you mention, trying to keep your voice light, “Are you going to ask anyone?”
George gives you a knowing look and you glare at him. He knew about your not-so-secret crush on Fred. Hell, almost everyone did, except Fred. You weren’t exactly good at hiding your feelings.
“I have someone in mind,” he grins slyly.
“Really? Who?” You ask, a bit too excitedly, and he gives you an amused look. “Come on Fred, tell me!” You wheedle but he puts a finger to his lips, zipping them shut.
“I’ll give you a hint,” he starts, “She’s in Gryffindor.”
Well obviously,” George snorts. Fred gives him a look that says what’s that supposed to mean? “You barely talk to any Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws are too smart to put up with your shit and Slytherins? I’m pretty sure that whole house hates you after the prank we pulled last year.”
Fred’s eyes light up at the mention of the prank and he enthusiastically starts to recount Snape’s reaction to his House’s robes being turned red and gold.
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
“He didn’t say much, but do you think he could be talking about me?” you ask Hermione anxiously as you both get ready for bed.
“Well it would make sense. You are the girl he spends the most time with.”
“I hope he asks me,” you say wistfully, “Night Hermione.”
“Goodnight Y/N.”
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
The next morning, Hermione’s forehead is wrinkled in thought when you sit down for breakfast, “Y/N,” she starts, “I heard from Lavender Brown who heard from Katie Bell that Fred asked Angelina to the Yule Ball.” Her lips are pursed as she anxiously studies your face for some type of reaction.
“Oh,” you say dejectedly, “Good for him.”
“I’m sorry Y/N,” Ginny says sympathetically, “My brother is an idiot.”
You give her a weak smile back.
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
A few days later, Ernie Macmillan comes up to you and nervously asks you to Hogsmead. He’s sweating profusely but you secretly admire his bravery. You accept and the date is fairly uneventful, mostly consisting of playful banter, and he walks you back to the Gryffindor common room, kissing your cheek chastely before departing.
Fred and George caught sight of the kiss and Fred snorts, “A Hufflepuff?”
“What’s wrong with Hufflepuff?” You demand, crossing your arms.
“Nothing. Nothing at all,” he mutters before angrily storming off. George mouths “sorry, I’ll talk to him,” before following Fred.
Ernie doesn’t talk to you again after that date. Every time you approach him, he finds some reason to leave quickly. You couldn’t lie, it was hurtful, was the date that bad? He seemed almost scared to be around you.
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
A boy from Durmstang ends up asking you to the Yule Ball. His name is Ansen. He’s tall and has nice eyes, so you accept. Maybe you aren’t in love with him, but he’s a nice distraction from Fred. You get along with him well enough, you both like quidditch and chocolate frogs. He’s not a bad dancer either, he twirls you around and that combined with your F/C dress makes you feel like a princess.
When the Yule Ball ends, he walks you back to the Gryffindor tower and wishes you a good night.
When you enter the common room, George and Fred are talking in harsh whispers, heads bowed. Both of them are still in their Yule Ball suit. Fred looks up and seems a bit annoyed, “Who’s that bloke you went to the ball with?”
“His name is Asen, he goes to Durmstang,” you say, shrinking a bit under Fred’s glare. “He’s really nice,” you added, just because you could.
“You went with him??” Fred huffed, sounding a bit disbelieving. “He’s Bulgarian, how do you guys even talk?”
George grinned, “I bet there’s not much talking involved when they get together.” You shoot him a look, not helping George.
Ginny glares at them from a armchair by the fireplace, the splitting image of her mother, and they shrunk under her angry gaze. “Stop being gits,” she grabs my hand and pulls me to the girls dormitory, “Tell me everything.”
Once you’re done recounting the date, she smiles, “He sounds nice.”
“He is.”
“You don’t sound too happy,” Ginny notes innocently.
“I know,” you sigh. “I just wish I that Fred had asked me.”
Ginny winces, “I know the feeling.” Harry, right.
“I’m sorry Gin.”
“Boys are stupid, who needs them?”
“Here, here,” Hermione agrees from her bed, her voice is thick with tears and muffled slightly by her pillow.
“I’m going to kill Ron.”
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
The next day, Ansen’s hair is bright blue. When you try to talk to him, he seems disgruntled and brushes you aside, muttering something about “stupid Weasley twins” and “she’s not worth the trouble.” You narrow your eyes and put two and two together. Fred and George.
You storm up to them and Fred gives you an annoyed look as you cut of his conversation with Angelina.
“You two are unbelievable! You can’t just prank everyone I try to date,” your voice raises a bit and you know you’re making a scene, but you’re to mad to care. You can feel onlookers burning holes into your back with their curious stares.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Fred drawls and George quickly removes himself from the situation, putting his hands up like don’t get me involved.
“You dyed Ansen’s hair blue and now he won’t speak to me,” you shoot a glare at him, “Not to mention whatever you did to poor Ernie.”
“We prank everyone,” he says defensively.
“You scared them away,” your voice is accusatory.
“Well if they’re that easily scared away, they’re not worth your time,” he replies breezily.
“You don’t get to do this,” you repeat. Your voice is quiet but shakes with anger and hurt.
“Why not?” Fred asks, looking a bit sullen.
“Because you don’t get to do this. You don’t get to ruin all my chances of love after you broke my heart,” your eyes widen at your thoughtless confession.
He gaped silently for a moment, “When I broke your heart?”
“You took Angelina to the Yule Ball.” At his blank look, you felt your face grow hot with anger, “You know what? Forget it. Fuck you Fred Weasley. Stay out of my life”
“Wait, Y/N!” He scrabbles up and grabs your wrist. You jerk it away from him, feeling like he burned you, before running into the girls dormitory.
Hermione, who had been silently watching the exchange, set her book down, “Fred Weasley, you are a compete arse,” she hissed before running after you.
She finds you lying face flat on your bed, “Y/N? I’m sorry about Fred, boys are idiots.”
You let out a watery laugh, “I hate him,” you pause, “but I also love him and he doesn’t love me back and it’s hurts, Mione.”
“I know,” she sighed, wrapping you in a hug. You allow yourself to cry on her shoulder and she glares at the wall behind you, thinking of all the things she wanted to do to Fred Weasley for hurting you.
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
You avoid the Fred for a whole week and you’re absolutely miserable. You’ve been spending more time with Hermione which is fun and all, but you missed George(and maybe Fred too). It’s not that you were mad at George, but if you spoke to him, Fred would probably be there. You made sure to continue to smile at George in hallways but your face would turn icy at the arrival of Fred.
The next week, you’re walking to potions and Fred grabs you and pulls you into an empty classroom. “I need to talk to you,” he says.
You sigh wearily and avoid his gaze, “What do you want Fred? Can’t you just leave me alone?”
“I want you.” His voice is so earnest and when you look up to meet his eyes, he’s smiling nervously, hands wrung together.
You look away, “No, you don’t. You’re just saying that because you can’t stand seeing me with another boy and no longer fawning over you like a lovesick little girl.” Your tone is venomous and you take a step back, preparing to leave but his voice stops you.
“That’s not true,” he says defensively, “I fancy you, I think I always have. It just took seeing you with another bloke for me to realize.”
“What about Angelina?”
“I don’t love her, I love you,” his frank declaration stuns you into silence.
“You love me?” your voice is a hoarse whisper.
His face flushes and you hate that you still find him endearing after everything he’s done, he nods solemnly, “I do. I know I’ve been awful to you these past weeks and I don’t blame you if you don’t want to see me.”
You feel your resolve crumbling, “I’m still mad at you but I do miss being friends.” You don’t address the love confession, you were still too mad and hurt for that.
“I’ll make it up to you Y/N, I promise.”
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
He stays true to his word. He walks you to every class and even apologizes to Ernie, who is no longer avoiding you. He doesn’t try to demand anything from you or push you, leaving everything up to you. Slowly, you begin to trust him again and can feel your relationship shifting from friends to something else.
Your first kiss is at the end of the school year. You say goodbye to George and turn to Fred, nervously aware of his family standing a few steps away. “Write to me?” you ask and he nods. You stand on your tip toes and peck him on the lips, quickly. He stares at you in shock for a moment before gently grabbing your waist and pulling you in for another a kiss that leaves you both breathless. You can hear his brothers hollering in the distance and Molly scolds them.
When you pull apart, Fred’s face is almost as red as his hair, “Bye Y/N, I’ll uh- see you next year,” he pauses, “Or maybe you could come to the Burrow sometime during the summer? You don’t have to but I reckon Mum would love to have you, and I would too of course-“
You cut off his rambling with a laugh, “I’d love to Freddie.”

Lost in Blues
Tumblr media
A/N: this is a rewrite of the Oikawa drabble I posted last year. To me, it was one of the things I written that I had a lot of ideas for but ruined because I was rushing it so I really want to give the idea another chance. This does not have nearly the same vibe as the old one and I think I am glad that I decided to rewrite it. I’m still debating whether I would private the old one or not but I’m definitely way happier with how this turns out than the last time round.
Pairing: Oikawa Tooru x reader
Description: You gave him the most reckless, carefree days of your life and you did not expect to meet him again at a wedding of all occasions after those days were long over.
Word count: 2140
(more lines I like from things I like as prompts for people I like)
-
“Is it ‘running through the airport’ kind of love?”
“The only person I’d run through an airport for is you.”
Season 2, ep6, Fleabag
-
There was nothing you could think of that was possibly worse than sitting next to your ex at a wedding.
The nicely-tailored jacket on your shoulders felt more restrictive than it had been before you looked up when you heard someone asking if it was alright to sit next to you and it was him. Your eyes widened (just slightly, very slightly and you hoped he didn’t catch it) when you saw him, giving a curt nod before shifting farther away from the empty seat so that there would be a bit of distance between the two of you after he sat down.
You were dressed to the nines, putting in way more effort than you normally would into your appearance which turned out to be a brilliant decision on your part. He looked great, as he used to be and probably always would be, with his dress shirt and polished leather shoes. You would hate to admit that you stole a quick glance at the person you knew so well when the string quartet started playing, losing to your curiosity to know how much he had changed and how much was the same. His hair got shorted, the bangs he had cared for so meticulously before now gone and pushed to the side in a way that finally stopped screaming ‘teen idol’. His jaw grew stronger, the boyish roundness of his cheeks gone without a trace. But he was still loud, even as he sat there in silence and listened to the band. The first two buttons of his shirt were undone, which was already too flamboyant as a wedding guest for your taste. The golden buckle of his belt shined far too bright with each shift of his body and you could not ignore the ring of a matching tone on his thumb as you turned your focus away when you realised you probably shouldn’t be staring at your ex’s belt of all places.
You knew you probably wouldn’t look better or even as good as he was, but you sure was glad that you were at least looking like you had a good life after exiting out of his.
You hoped he would pretend that he does not know you for the rest of the ceremony, but you had a feeling that he wouldn’t.
“It’s been a while,” you had to bite back the sigh that nearly slipped from your lips when you heard him, “how have you been?”
See, spot on.
You tried to not make your exasperation too obvious as you turned to his side slightly, putting on a smile that was friendly enough to be polite but also enough distant for him to know that you were not particularly thrilled for this conversation.
It wasn’t that you two ended on bad terms, but the way you slowly drifted apart was nowhere near satisfactory either.
“Good,” you said, “you?”
His throat tightened at your clear disinterested. The more logical thing he should have done when he walked through the door and saw you at the end of the row all by yourself was to sit at the other end of the room, one that made sure you two would not be in each other’s view until the whole ceremony was over. But it had been so long, and his legs were moving before his mind could stop him until he was standing right next to you.
“Doing good too,” he replied, trying his best to keep the conversation going, “are you here with anyone?”
“No,” you swallowed the lump at the back of your throat and kept your smile on, “I’m on my own.”
“Oh?” his voice slightly sharpened, tilting his head in both interest and in shock,
You shrugged, “My boyfriend doesn’t work here so he couldn’t make it.”
There was a brief pause.
“Oh,” he said, feeling a slight bitterness well up at the back of his throat at how ironically similar it sounded like.
He gulped, debating in his head whether it was worth risking it to say what he wanted to say.
The side that wanted to know how it was different this time won.
“Did you run through an airport for him too?” he said, trying to put on the most charming, non-offensive smile he could manage.
He was relieved that the gambling paid off when you actually let out a snort.
“No,” your shoulder pulled back slightly as you shook your head, your eyes dropping when you felt a hint of fondness welling up at the recall of the piece of memory that had been tugged at the back of your head, “I don’t run through airports anymore.”
You ran through an airport for the man who was now sitting next to you and even though it was an utterly stupid decision on your part, the reminiscence of your naïve romance brought a bitter-sweet sore to your chest. It was 8 years ago but almost felt longer, when he was about to leave the country to go to the other end of the globe. He did not tell you, that asshole who always decided everything for himself and just ran straight ahead for it. You wouldn’t even know he was leaving if you did not get your phone bombed by frantic calls from his best friend who yelled at you when you finally picked up.
“That shithead is leaving for Argentine in a few hours,” Iwaizumi sucked in a breath, sounding out of breath as he spitted words out of his mouth before you could ask him why he was telling you that, “and I know both of you are too fucking proud to say anything but if you come now, you can still make it in time before he needs to board his flight.”
“So just come, just-” you barely heard the last of his call and the sound of boys hollering from behind him when you threw your phone down onto your bag and grab the nearest shirt you could reach, “come.”
You barely made it in time to the airport and almost got lost because, hell, why was Sendai Airport so god damn big for no good reason at all. You had to run just to get there when he was about to walk past the glass walls of the departure hall, his friends holding him back by the arms when his mouth hung open in shock when he heard you call out his name from the far end of the hall.
You almost knocked him down when you crashed into him, his arms waving around aimlessly before he realised he should be holding you back instead.
"Why are you-”
“You’re an asshole and I hate that I’m doing this,” you muttered, fighting back the tears that were welling up at the corner of your eyes.
“What is that supposed to mean?” he let out a soft gasped, but allowing the burst of warmth in his chest to take over when you let out a laugh through the sob that broke through.
It was reckless, it was embarrassing and people were probably staring but you honestly didn’t care less. You were so in love with him and for reasons you could not believe, he was so in love with you.
And at that moment when he ignored how ugly you probably looked with tear and snot running down your chin and kissed you like he had been waiting for this, it seemed like every piece of the puzzle had clicked into the right place at last.
But the fairytale ended right after the climax, when the story had to continue past the point when the prince finally kissed the princess and everyone rejoiced.
At first, the distance didn’t bother you at all. You were okay with calling him every evening to say “good morning” to him, and he gladly did the same when he was walking home to his empty one-room apartment after another rough day at practice. He told you he was tired but he felt energised again when he got to hear your voice and you made fun of him for being cheesy on the tongue while smiling ear to ear. You believed that your love could win against time and distance, he believed that you two could definitely find a way.
The question of what would happen if this lasted and who should make sacrifices for who hung over the air, but you didn’t care. You were still so young, you had time.
Until waiting for the call to come only to get nothing but a text many hours later saying that practice held him up started to make you feel frustrated and you were tired of being expected to be the considerate one because he was the one with big dreams you should support. The insecurities he thought he could push down turned ugly when you started to have more and more friends that he wouldn’t be notified of until they appear in your pictures, some standing far too close to you that his bitterness seeped through when he couldn’t stop himself from talking about how happy you seemed to be when he finally had time to sit down and take your call.
“And what is wrong with that?” you gritted, and felt even more aggravated when you remembered seeing his teammate tagged him in a picture where they were out clubbing only moments after he finally texted you saying he was too tired and needed to rest instead of having your weekly video call, “Why am I not allowed to be happy with people who are around me?”
And you also had your insecurities, and he was young and in a place where everything was new to him, and you knew he could be having a much more reckless time if he didn’t have to think about whether it would upset you when you found out, and he knew he could not give you a good enough reason to not feel unsafe, and he already made a choice on where way he wanted to head towards when he boarded that plane.
A way that you felt would be better for the both of you if you turn back while you could still think back on the times you did love him with a fond smile.
Running through the airport was so much easier than the rest that came after.
You were still smiling but quiet until you slowly parted your lips and looked up.
“The only person I’d run through an airport for is you.”
He shared the most reckless, the most carefree days of your life but you grew up now, and now you wanted someone who you did not need to run after.
He seemed like he wanted to say something, but the stop of the strings also put a stop to the moment.
“Dearly beloved…”
“It’s starting.”
You did not talk again for the rest of the ceremony.
-
“Are you free?”
You paused your hand that was shoving your phone back into your bag after pulling it out to check what time it was when Oikawa turned to your side. The ceremony ended and it was almost 6, not too early and not too late. The sun was sinking outside and the golden rays shined through the stained glass windows of the ceremony hall.
You blinked, “After this, you mean?”
“Yeah,” he toyed with the thick gold band on his thumb, “do you have time?”
He regretted it the moment he asked. It had been seven years since you last talked and if he had never once wanted to contact you again then he sure shouldn’t have done it now. You also had someone else, to add to it, someone who you could do long-distance with and not looked distressed when you bring it up, what type of person would he looked like now after he asked his ex if they were free after a wedding?
To his relief, you did not seem too taken aback. You only looked down, pulled your phone out again to unlock your screen and look at the time before locking your eyebrows together, putting it away when you finished calculating.
“Nah,” you shook your head with a tiny smile, “I have a call with someone later.”
You said ‘someone’ but he caught the hint from the way the corner of your lips lifted up just a little higher.
Oikawa Tooru laughed, something he did not expect himself to do.
You were doing well, like him, even though in separate places and with separate people.
That was good.
So he said it, smiling without knowing that he was, “That’s good.”
He meant it.
“Yeah,” you nodded and smiled back, this time at him and with ease, “it is.”
And so did you.

The Ways We Meet
Henry Cavill x Reader
Summary: While trying to avoid another man at an A-list event, you accidentally bump into Henry who has no interest in letting you go despite not even knowing your name.
Notes: idk, I thought it was kinda cute. Pov changes back and forth between Y/N and Henry A LOT. Implied smut (because I’m so damn bad at writing full smut).
Words: 2211
Tumblr media
Y/N:
These events pissed you off, they really did. Despite being only a director’s assistant, you were forced to attend. And it wasn’t the tight, sparkly dresses you had to wear that made you miserable, nor the heavy makeup or the overcrowding in rooms that far surpassed fire department code. It was more that you felt out of place and always managed to have one creepy man sense that from a mile away with the intent to pray on what looked like your innocence. You weren’t innocent, by far, but you supposed the impression you gave off by the way you stood away from others, sipping the same drink for a half hour, made sense.
Usually, drinking in a dark corner at an A-list event by the time midnight came around kept you safe. Those creepy men surrendered to your disinterest in them, and ventured to find an easier, more desperate woman. But not tonight. Tonight, this one was persistent.
You didn’t know his name; never let him get close enough to tell you, but he followed you around, not so subtly watching you with a look in his eyes that had you nauseous. Every step he neared you was a step you took in the opposite direction hoping to evade his creepiness.
Henry:
It had been a long night, too long, and Henry wished he could just go back to the hotel and watch a stupid movie until the early hours of the Sunday morning, since there was no way he would get a good nights sleep with the jetlag still wracking his body from the morning before.
He was saying goodbye to a couple coworkers, patting them on their backs in a friendly gesture when his shoulder roughly shoved forward. He stumbled a step, and before he could turn to see why, a woman passed him.
Her body was wrapped a snug, shiny red gown, and she had curls pinned back into an elegant bun, and when she turned to apologize, she lightly touched his bicep, smiling politely before continuing on her path. His breath hitched but she didn’t notice as she was gone a half-second later, buried somewhere in the mass of bodies.
His lips were still parted, stunned, until a friend tapped his shoulder.
“Hey, are you ok?” The friend asked, to which Henry only nodded, then walked away in the direction the woman went.
It took time to find her, but when he did, something in his chest seemed to both tighten and lighten in sync. He watched her from a distance as she took a gulp of the drink in her hand then placed it back on the counter and ducked. Henry chuckled, but then spotted him: A smallish man slowly making his way toward where she was unsuccessfully hiding.
Henry quickly shuffled his way through the crowd, and just moments before the other man could’ve spotted her, Henry snatched her by the arm and pulled her into a corner. With his back to the wall, he faced the crowd, his arms holding her snuggly, chest to chest, until the man passed them by.
Y/N:
“You’re safe now,” A man said, drawing your attention upward, and your eyes couldn’t help but widen. Henry Cavill was looking at you with a playful smirk on his handsome face that you never in a million years would have imagined be directed toward you. “Remember me?”
“Shit,” You cursed yourself. “It was you I bumped into earlier.” What a way to make a first impression. How was it that you always managed to look like an idiot in front of the hottest actors at these parties? This certainly wasn’t the first time. Chris Evans could confirm that, and probably wouldn’t hesitate to.
“It was.”
“Oh God, I’m so sorry. I’m not normally so rude. I can explain.”
Henry’s shoulders shook as he laughed, and it reminded you that he still held you tight, with an odd protectiveness. “I think I’ve caught on to the situation,” He said. “Do you know that guy?”
You shook your head.
Henry casually nodded at your confirmation, that smile still on his face, but it slipped a moment later and you didn’t have to guess why. He looked back at you. “Do you think you could trust a stranger for a brief minute?”
“W-What?”
“Yes or no?” He quickly asked.
You blinked. “Yea, I guess.”
“Good,” He said, then slammed his lips to yours.
It shocked you but the feeling of having every part of your body pressed against his made you dizzy, and what was meant to force the creeper away, lasted much longer than the minute Henry promised. Many minutes longer. Enough minutes to give you the time to slide your hands up his chest until they settled on the back of his neck. Enough minutes to have him groaning when you softly nibbled on his bottom lip. Enough minutes to have your heart pounding.
You pulled back first when the embarrassment began to flood your body. Chuckling awkwardly, you stepped out of his arms, and said, “Um, thanks for the help…stranger,” then tried to disappear as fast as you could, for the first time thankful of the enormous crowd.
Henry:
She stiffened as his hand clasped around her wrist before she could get away, and when she turned to look at his face, she became no less tense. It made Henry feel uneasy. He liked her a little too much for how long he’d known her—which was nearly no time at all--and when he kissed her with everything he had, he thought it might’ve been enough to get her to stick around, at least for an extra minute or two.
He wasn’t arrogant. Yes, he’d had women tell him he was a good kisser, but he didn’t assume one kiss from him would have her falling on her knees, begging him to take her home. Henry just thought she felt something too. Perhaps more than one should from a stranger’s kiss, but enough of something to make her pause and question why it felt so damn good, just as he had for the millisecond before she bolted. It had him unwilling to give up so soon.
“Now where are you going?” Henry said, trying to hide the twinge of desperation in his voice.
“Sorry, I—”
“What’s your name?” He asked.
She blinked with her big, butterfly-wing-like lashes as if she hadn’t expected him to care. “…Y/N.”
“Ok, well, Y/N, I think that guy got the hint. You don’t have to keep running.”
“You never know.” She shrugged and anxiously bit the inside of her cheek.
“Right then, how about we leave?”
“What?”
“Do you like coffee?”
“…Sometimes,” One corner of her lips hesitantly turned upward. “Not usually at twelve thirty in the morning.”
Henry grinned as his thumb ran back and forth along the inside of her wrist. “Well, decaf is a thing, and I happen to know a place not far from here that’s open for another hour.”
Y/N:
You didn’t know how you managed to be pinned against one of his hotel room walls, but you were. You weren’t drunk from the little alcohol you’d had at the party, and the coffee certainly wasn’t spiked, but you still couldn’t explain how you were now moaning from the feel of Henry’s lips attached to your neck. Not that you were complaining.
“Goddamn,” He groaned against the skin of your collarbone as his fingers bunched the glittery fabric of your gown up until his hand could slip underneath. As it glided up your thigh, his palm left burns from its trail, and your skin grew hotter with each inch he made closer to your core. “You’re like an angel.”
You let out a throaty chuckle. “Hardly.”
Henry lifted his head and his hazy blue eyes met yours. “Hardly, huh?” He said as his index finger ran along the edge of your panties. He could’ve easily tucked a finger under that useless barrier and felt how wet you were.
“Yes,” You smirked, reaching your hand forward and undoing the buckle of his belt. “Hardly.”
Then you lowered to your knees.
Henry:
Henry didn’t even have to open his eyes to know that she was gone. He’d woken up a few times throughout the night, only to fall right back into peaceful sleep when he felt her warm body tucked into him. Each time, he tightened his arm firmly around her waist as she emitted little soft snores. But now, without the weight of her body next to his, Henry felt cold. Only the empty dip in the mattress where she’d laid for hours remained.
Her warmth was gone. She was gone.
And it stung a lot more than it should. He didn’t even know her last name or her age or, hell, anything about her. He knew he shouldn’t be as upset as he was, but he wanted to learn those things. To get to know her. Coffee the night before gave little insight to who she really was. That time was spent throwing flirtatious jokes back and forth, and if he’d have known she wouldn’t have given him the next morning to ask the important things, he’d have slowed himself down.
Fisting his fingers into his hair, Henry groaned at more than just the glaring sunlight streaming through the windows giving him a ripe headache. He shouldn’t be hung up on someone he barely knew. It wasn’t healthy.
Y/N:
God, you hoped you weren’t overstepping your bounds, or worse, being that girl who hangs around after a one-night stand long after the guy wants you to. You just…didn’t want to leave. He surprised you with his sincerity. He seemed to like you, though you didn’t know why, but you liked him, and, for once, you were willing to take the risk of sticking around for the morning after. It could be awkward. It could crash and burn. But if you weren’t going to be brave enough to see how the rest of the day could unfold, you knew you would regret it.
But, staying or not, it didn’t mean you weren’t going to hop down to the hotel lobby as soon as you woke to get your coffee fill. And based on what you saw last night, Henry liked his coffee rich and black.
Henry:
Who was he trying to fool? This was absolutely going to ruin his day. They’d had a rare chemistry that made him feel like he’d known her forever, and the sex certainly didn’t suck. Not even close.
Throwing his legs over the side of the bed, Henry sat up and rubbed his face with both hands. If she wasn’t going to be there, he might as well get dressed and go about his day. At least, that’s what he thought, until he heard the door lock click and the handle turn.
His head shot to the sound, and he was almost stunned when he saw her walk in, shakily balancing two cups of coffee, a danish, and a muffin in her arms. She jumped when she saw him looking at her, still impressively holding on to the breakfast.
“H-Hi,” She said. And, damn, Henry liked that voice.
“Hi,” He smiled back, and at the gesture he could see her shoulders relax.
He stood and walked towards her, neglecting his boxers entirely, just thrilled she hadn’t disappeared forever. She looked down and blushed, then averted her eyes as he began to unload the food from her arms, and one-by-one placed the items on the table. When she still hadn’t looked back at him, he chuckled and tucked a finger under her chin, tilting it up until she was forced to meet his eyes.
“Don’t be shy on me now.”
He ran his hands down her arms and grabbed both of her hands in his when she sighed and said “Sorry, I’m not…” She took a breath,” I don’t usually do this.”
“Hook up with strangers?”
“No, stick around the morning after. I kind of assume I’m not wanted, so—”
“You’re wanted here. Believe me,” Henry said fast, because those thoughts were the last he wanted on her mind.
She gaped, but then grinned wide and bright. “Really?”
“Definitely,” He said. “I want to know you.”
Y/N:
He wants to know you. Those words made your stomach flip. Though you took the risk to not sneak out at the break of dawn, you figured the odds of him not shuffling you out the door were unlikely to be in your favor. But you weren’t complaining about being wrong.
You grew embarrassed when you realized that dopey smile was still on your face, so you quickly wiped it off then grabbed the muffin and offered it to him. One corner of his lips quirked in unison with an eyebrow, and he gently took the offering from your hand.
“Thank you,” he said, pulling the paper down to take a bite.
“So, um…if we want to get to know one another, what do you want to do?”
Henry only smirked and said “Well…I’ve got some ideas.” He took another bite then licked the remaining crumbs off his lips, which was somehow more distracting than the fact that he was completely naked. “Half of them don’t involve clothes, though.”

thinking of bkdk in their late 40s when all their friends have already settled down with a family, izuku muses a lil forlornly how he would like to have someone to come home and katsuki just stares him dead in the eyes and says, "marry me then. i wont let you be lonely in that empty apartment."
the thing is bkdk are super successful heroes, they're the ranking no.1 and 2 and everyone knows their name but because izuku put so much effort into his career he never give himself the chance to meet someone and fall in love because the next things he know he's already 48 yrs old and still very single. as soon as he got right out of UA he had put himself right to work and hasn't truly stop since so izuku feels like he misses out on his youth, the flutter of first love, and now he feels like it's too late to grasp that chance again because he's too old to be stumbling around at love BUT here is katsuki suddenly telling izuku to marry him as though that would solve everything, solve izuku's worries and fears that he'll never experience love the way his friends had or knows what it feels to come home to a waiting arms that will comfort him after a hard day at work.
izuku first tries to laugh it off because katsuki cant be serious right?? but katsuki doesn't crack a single smile. "Do i look like im the type to joke about this kind shit to you?" he asks, voice steady and true. it is then that izuku realizes katsuki had meant every word he said.
but izuku still cant wrap his head around why would katsuki want to marry him of all things?? it is because they're both bachelor and wretchedly alone standing at the very top of their career where nobody can touch or hope to nobody can understand them like they do to each other?? izuku thinks that's a very dry reason to marry someone for the sake of convenience and not love at all because even though he'd devoted all his time to saving the world and helping ppl and HE'S OLD NOW but he still earnestly yearn to fall in love the ways all his friends had.
"If you needed company, we don't have to marry each other. I'm here for you always, you know that," izuku offers instead. "We're partners."
katsuki is silent briefly, then, he says, "You think i want to marry because you're convenience?"
Izuku blinks. "is that not it?"
"No," he says, all grave and serious, and for a moment izuku is breathless with realization.
"Oh," izuku replies, looking down at the table like it has all the answer in the world. "how long?"
"Since our third year at UA."
izuku jerks his head up, eyes wide with shock.
"what—I, wait, you can't mean that right?" he shakes his head as he flounders for the right words. they're both almost hitting their 50s now, so if it started in their third year then it would be 30 years of katsuki waiting for him, of pining over izuku and all that time was lost because of it.
katsuki press his lips into a thin line. "I have never lie to you."
"I—I'm not—" izuku flushes, because this wasn't anything he had plan for. who would anyway? no one would ever believe that katsuki has been in love with him for almost 30 years and izuku only found out about it now. even though katsuki has revealed the secret he has been hiding for 3 decades, izuku has no answer for him. he didn't notice katsuki's feelings for this long not because he chose to willfully ignore it but because he has never thought of katsuki in that light and that is the sad truth of it all. katsuki must have realizes that too because he doesn't press for more from izuku.
"i'm sorry," izuku says, mind racing to come up with a proper reply to katsuki's feelings because he deserves that much. "it's not you—"
Katsuki scowls. "shut the fuck up, don't even start that with me."
izuku quickly shuts his mouth, floundering for another reply that with save both of their feelings.
"Six months," katsuki says instead, eyes firm and never once dull since izuku has known him. "give me six months to convince you and if it doesn't work out we can get divorce then."
"you still want to marry me?!" izuku asks in disbelief. "shouldn't we like date first at least? isn't that how normal relationship work?!"
katsuki roll his eyes. "we co-own an agency, you have your toothbrush at my house, and we spent 18hrs out of 24 together almost everyday. our friends joke about us being a married to each other as much as to our work, we're each other's first emergency contact if something were to happen," he continues, straightforward like he's listing their grocery for today, "and i cant ever imagine wanting anyone more than i ever want you."
throughout this strange turn in their conversation, izuku realizes not once has he ever heard katsuki said he loves him but the way katsuki had revealed his unwavering devotion that lasts 3 decades and the dry, bluntness in which he spoken of wanting izuku, it's heavy. this hefty thing that katsuki has carried with him for nearly 3 decades, and in those years what izuku thought katsuki was just disinterest in any romantic connection because not once had izuku seen him look at another person, but it's because he has eyes only for izuku and nobody else.
izuku should have known never to expect anything less then 120% with katsuki because if there's anything that means something to katsuki, he would give it all and then some. it's humbling really, to be loved so fiercely and with such devotion that 3 decades is worth every second of it but izuku doesn't know if he's worth it especially when he's hesitant about his own murky feelings. he loves katsuki undoubtedly. they're partners in more way then one, but he doesn't know if he can love katsuki the way he deserves to be love in return, to return that same level of intensity.
"and what if the six months went by and there's nothing show for it?" izuku mumbles, hands clasp together under the table. i dont want to ruin this friendship of ours, he doesn't say. "what if you get bored with me and realized this isn't something you want now. what happen then?"
"you're stuck with me for life even if we get a divorce. i won't let you ever get rid of me either way," katsuki says, lips twitching with the slightest hint of amusement. "and if you're worry about me getting bored of you, don't. i fucking wont." It’s firm, assured, and completely sincere.
izuku thinks anybody with a half a brain at all would see this admirable man right in front of them with his unwavering affection and devotion that he had nurtured for 3 decades would be half way in love already, but izuku neither race or skip a beat; it remains dull and unmoved. maybe he's really too old to love like this. maybe, it's not that he's too busy to ever search for it like everyone else but because he has all the love for everyone but none ever hold a special place in his heart. for all of katsuki's sharp edges, his feelings burn ever so brightly while izuku has since been numb to his own emotions. to give too much to the world, to his job that he has never let himself fall freely and unconditionally. it's terrifying.
"what if i hurt you instead?" he says, quiet and severe. "what if in the end i couldn't return what you've given me?"
katsuki doesn't answer right away. the air around them tenses, threatening to suffocate them in the waiting silence. then a hand grab his and draws it toward katsuki's chest. "don't fucking underestimate me, idiot. i can and will make you fall in love with me in 6 months. 6 months is more than enough to make you realize what a fucking dumbass you have been the entire time for not taking notice of me while i have been looking at you for almost half of our life," he says with the cocky assurance that propelled him to the no. 2 position and beyond.
for the first time since this exchange had started and taken a strange, strange turn that left him his world shaken to its core, izuku's heart feels lighten. He stifles a giggle. "i still think we should date at least. marriage is maybe jumping the gun a little too soon."
"No." Katsuki's eyes narrow, and he squeezes izuku's hand firmly. "i'm not giving you any chance to escape from this. we can do all the dumb dating things you could ever want but we're getting marry first."
izuku tries to draw his hand back but katsuki remains undeterred. "Kacchan, please," he says. half begging for his hand back and half pleading against his insane idea. who in their right mind would ever marry first then date each other?! That's just not how it work! yet, katsuki is an unmovable fortress against increasing izuku's distress.
"deku," he says, thumb running across izuku's knuckles in a soothing circle, "give me this chance. let me prove it to you that i can do it. take this leap of faith with me and i won't disappoint you. trust me with your heart like you trust me with your life and i promise i will keep it safe."
izuku draws out a long, lingering breath that leaves his head heady with a dawning realization. "o-okay," he finally acquiesces, shaken with the knowledge that his heart suddenly doesn't feel safe at all for the first time in a long time in the hands of the man in front of him. bakugou katsuki is dangerous, but to the tender beat of his heart.
Katsuki's lips stretch upward into a small, precious smile that rarely see the light of day, leaving izuku breathless just for a moment. "we'll go get the marriage license tomorrow."
"tomorrow?!" izuku shrieks.
maybe he has been wrong all along, maybe you're never too old fall in love and experience it for the first time and that sometimes the things that matter the most to you are always worth the wait even if take 3 decades and katsuki always been more patient then people give him credits for.

Sweetie Pie (Kunimi x Reader)
While teasing Kunimi on your walk home from school, you deliver an ultimatum that might not be as imposing as it seems.
Word Count: 1,296
Masterlist
“Today will be the day!” you announce confidently as you step off Seijoh’s campus.
“For what?” Kindaichi asks as he falls into step beside you.
“Kunimi is finally going to ask me out.”
“No,” the boy in question says flatly.  He trails half a step behind you even though the sidewalk is wide enough for the three of you to walk side by side.
“Come on,” you encourage, “I’ll make it easy for you.  My answer is yes, I will date you Kunimi.”
“Why should we date?”
“Because we’re attracted to each other.”
“I’m attracted to pie but I don’t feel the need to date pie.”
“I’m much more fun to hang out with than pie.”
“You’re more annoying, that’s for sure.”
“More or less annoying than Oikawa?” Kindaichi interjects.  He’s used to your bickering, especially about your relationship or lack thereof.  It’s been a frequent topic of discussion on your walks home lately.
“It’s a toss up,” Kunimi grumbles.
“But you like Oikawa, so you must like me, too!” you proclaim.
“I never said I like Oikawa.”
You gasp dramatically, whipping around to face Kunimi in your best impression of the dramatic volleyball captain.
“Kunimi-kun, I feel betrayed!”
Kindaichi laughs.  Kunimi rolls his eyes, but there’s a grin pulling at his lips.  You turn back around and drop the act, pleased with your work.
“See?” you continue as you wait at the corner for your turn to cross the street.  “Pie wouldn’t be able to amuse you with spot-on impressions.”
“No,” he agrees, “but that’s not something that I find attractive.”
“But you do find me attractive,” you press.  You try and fill your voice with confidence, but there’s a hint of a question as you glance at him.  He meets your eyes, and you see something in his expression that makes your breath catch in anticipation, but then he shrugs and returns his gaze to the sidewalk.
“We wouldn’t be friends if I didn’t find you attractive.”
“Ooh, hear that Kindaichi?  Kunimi surrounds himself with attractive people.  How elitist!”
“Wait, does that mean you’re attracted to all of your friends?” Kindaichi asks somewhat nervously.
“There are more types of attraction than physical and romantic,” Kunimi replies firmly, almost too quickly.  It makes you chuckle.
“Don’t worry Kindaichi,” you say, patting your friend’s arm consolingly.  “I find you attractive.”
“U-um, thanks?” he stutters, blushing furiously.  He glances at Kunimi who has maintained a carefully neutral expression.
“I know,” you declare without acknowledging either of them, “if Kunimi doesn’t ask me out by the end of this week, then you can ask me out, Kindaichi.”
“What?” he splutters, blushing deeper.
“After that, I’ll open it up to anyone.”  You make your declaration like it’s the most natural thing in the world, but you study their reactions out of the corner of your eye.  While Kindaichi looks increasingly flustered, Kunimi maintains his neutral mask.  You try not to be disappointed.
“Are you that desperate to go on a date?” Kunimi asks.
“I just refuse to be kept waiting forever.”
“Patience is a virtue,” Kindaichi murmurs.  He’s still wrestling to get his blush under control, and you wonder briefly if maybe he does have a crush on you.
“Well it’s never been one of my better virtues.  But don’t worry, I have full confidence that Kunimi will muster the energy to get the job done.  He always steps up at the end of the game.”
“Who says this is a game I want to play?”
You look at him critically, but his neutral expression hasn’t shifted, and he’s avoiding meeting your eyes.
“I guess we’ll see at the end of the week,” you say.
Kindaichi hears something in your voice that has him glancing between you and Kunimi with concern, but you’ve reached the part of your walk home where you split ways.  He’ll talk to you later to make sure you’re okay.  You do your best to give him a reassuring smile.
“See you guys tomorrow,” he calls before turning away.  You watch him for a few steps before heading towards your own home with Kunimi beside you.
You walk the next block in silence.  You know it’d be faster for Kunimi to get home if he turned at the next block, but he crosses the street and continues walking with you.  It’s only an extra block and a half, but knowing how he’s normally so opposed to unnecessary effort, you are touched.
“I thought I had until the end of the month to officially ask you,” he murmurs, breaking the silence.
“Sorry,” you sigh.  “Like I said, patience isn’t my best virtue.”
“So I’m learning.”  He says it with the hint of a grin.  You quirk the corners of your lips in answer, but it’s not quite a smile.
“You’re okay with it, right?  I mean, you still want to-”
“Yes,” he says with uncharacteristic impatience.  You feel him lace his fingers with yours, and it’s reassuring.  Your smile is more genuine.  “Of course I want our relationship to be official.  I just wish I had you all to myself a little longer.”
You blush and hold his hand tighter.
“You’ve already had me to yourself for almost two months,” you tease.  “Someone’s going to find out soon anyways.  I think Kindaichi already suspects us.”
“I suppose even he would notice if his best friends started dating in secret.”
“He’s pretty emotionally intelligent,” you agree, remembering his questioning glances between you.  You also remember his flustered blushing.  “Do you think he has a crush on me?”
“Who, Kindaichi?”  Kunimi looks like he’s going to deny it, but then he begins seriously considering your question.  “Maybe a little.  It’s like I said, I doubt you’d be friends if you weren’t attracted to each other somehow.”
“And you’re okay with your partner and best friend being somehow attracted to each other?”
“Sure.  You wouldn’t be my partner if you weren’t more attracted to me.”
“True,” you laugh.  “Poor Kindaichi.  I hope he’s not too heartbroken.”
“He’ll be fine.”
“Will you?” you ask as you stop in front of your house.
“Yeah.”  He exhales heavily but smiles at you.  “It’ll be a pain once the upperclassmen find out, but Iwaizumi will keep the teasing to a minimum.”
“They’re just a bunch of children.”
“Well you’re a bigger tease than them,” he says, “begging me to ask you out when we’re already dating.”
“I just want to be able to steal your food and sit next to you and maybe hold your hand without all of the secondhand whisperings and judgmental looks.”
“They probably won’t stop whispering and looking just because we make it public.”
“But they’ll get disinterested more quickly.  Plus we’ll stop having to come up with excuses for why we’re hanging out all the time.  This is actually the scenario that requires less effort.”
“If you say so.”
“I do.”  You kiss his cheek.  You can’t help the light blush that colors your own cheeks as you do so.  You’ve been secretly dating for almost two months, but it still feels unbearably new.  “See you tomorrow.”
“Yeah,” he says, watching you walk to your front door.  You turn around before entering to smile at him.
“Remember, you have until the end of the week.”
“I know.”
“Don’t leave it until the last minute.”
“I know.”
“Talk to you later?”
“Of course.”
“Bye bye sweetie pie!”
Kunimi turns bright red as you slip inside, giggling to yourself.  He’ll be too flustered to talk to you for a while, but that will give him time to come up with an even cringier pet name for you.  And if he’s still embarrassed, you can blame the nickname on him.  He was the one who brought up pie earlier, after all.

losing you | yoon jeonghan
Tumblr media
° pairing: jeonghan x f!reader, jun x f!reader ° genre: soulmate!au, bittersweet angst ° summary: losing me is better than losing you. ° word count: 1.5k ° warnings: implied death but details aren’t explicit! i promise the fic itself isn’t bad >< ° a/n: TEEHEE @vibecheckvernon SURPRISE I’M UR TCT SECRET SANTA !!!! 😌 posted this a little later for prime angst reading times :D I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS!!! p.s. pls don’t sue me i love you <3
inspired by: @95boysbe ‘s fic, ‘when you love someone’ (tysm for all of you for helping me find this again! 💓 pls go check out their work as well!) + wonho’s song ‘losing you’
masterlist!
Tumblr media
jeonghan has no intentions of going to his family’s christmas party. at least not this early. looking into his appearance in the mirror, he wraps the red checkered scarf around his neck so the ends nicely drape over his white long sleeve shirt tucked under his matching sweater vest. a festive look to hide away his disinterest buried in his “enthusiasm”.
“daddy, are you not coming with us?” jeonghan jolts by the sudden tugging of his sweater from his side, looking over, forcing his eyes to meet with his daughter’s watery orbs.
he crouches down to one knee so he’s completely eye level, tucking in the loose strands of hair behind her ear. “not yet sweetheart. daddy’s gotta pick up a few things for the party.” he opens his arms wide for the tiny human to bury herself in a bear-like embrace.
“stay by mommy’s side at all times, okay?” the little girl steps back to face her father, her hands gripping onto jeonghan’s index finger. “promise?” he continues to persist until she sniffles a series of nods. a small melancholy smile creeps onto jeonghan’s face as he wiggles himself out of her powerful grasp and cups her cheeks, creating small circles on her soft cheekbones with his thumbs.
“good girl. i’ll be back before you notice i’m gone.”
Tumblr media
the walk there is shorter than jeonghan was expecting and it almost makes him sick to his stomach. he wants the anticipation to subside by the time he gets there, yet at this rate, he would arrive with nothing but the swell of guilt weighing down inside of him.
the winter chill makes him shiver, hiding his balled fists in his pockets. the farther he walks, this once familiar street slowly turns into the abyss as the fog erases his footsteps along with the glimmery lights surrounding him. but jeonghan is only focused on the dark pathway ahead of him. weeks after hearing the news, and an additional few months of “recovery”, his imagination has conditioned him for far worser environments than some cold weather.
the field of clean cut grass beside him is now closed off, barred by a wired fence painted white indicating he was getting close. it was a foolish thing really. this entire time, from the moment jeonghan left the house until now, he’s been trying to find the right words to say to you. what he would say to you if you were willing to hear him out. question he desperately wants answered. jeonghan lowers his head, scoffing under his breath knowing you probably would have. even though he knew himself that he didn’t deserve it. and neither did you.
he comes to a pause at the entrance, reaching out to maneuver the chains that lock the gateway. taking a slow deep breath in, jeonghan looks up before entering the place of the dead, only to see that you already had company.
the hint of discomfort causes jeonghan’s body to stiffen - the sight of an tall, unfamiliar man here with you triggering his fight or flight response, his instincts urging for the first rather than late. why would he be at a place like this? and on christmas no doubt.
jeonghan takes his time walking towards you both, eyeing his physique up and down from afar. as he got closer, he examines the man’s notable facial features. the longer he stares, the more confused jeonghan gets causing him to crease his eyebrows. neither of you know him. jeonghan shakes the thought away- no, he doesn’t know him. maybe within the time you were away, the two might have met. jeonghan keeps his mind neutral, accepting all the possibilities.
the mysterious man dressed down in this cold december, notices jeonghan walking this way before he could stop in his tracks to presenting himself in front of you. chuckling at the grimace look on jeonghan’s face.
as respectful as he could possibly mutter, jeonghan opens his mouth to speak, “who-”
“so you must be yoon jeonghan,” he’s quick to cut him off, knowing exactly what might be running through his mind right now. he nods his head towards him, acknowledging the new, delighted presence that fills the air. “my name’s jun.” he watches as the imaginary fumes streaming from the top of jeonghan’s head start to dissipate. “a friend of hers back in america,” he lied, not that jeonghan would ever know anyways. “she talked a lot about you. it almost got annoying.
just like how jeonghan did, jun studies him in his entirety. a smirk forming on his lips finding that he looked exactly how you described. as well as his own description: a good for nothing low life with faltering loyalty. jun scowls at the ring wrapped around jeonghan’s finger. “talk about that red string of fate, huh,” his words protrude the thick musk that wavers around them, finally breaking jeonghan’s walls. “don’t mind me though. i’m just here to pay my respects as a friend,”jun says, his words laced with sarcasm.
jeonghan freezes in his spot, feeling only a tingling sensation in his fingers and toes as the flood of memories of the two of you replay in the back of his mind. the entirety of your childhood, including your teenage and what was there for your college years. until the dreaded day you decided to leave. “so, you knew?” he whispers more so for his curiosity rather than looking for an actual answer.
and from the look on jeonghan’s face, jun could tell. “yeah,” he says just enough for jeonghan to hear. “i knew a lot.” he averts his eyes away from the soft hearted gaze that now appears on jeonghan’s face.
jun may not have known you the same amount of time as jeonghan did. but the way you wore your heart on your sleeve despite being so vulnerable even after the fact, jun can pluck out things even jeonghan probably never noticed. how jeonghan could ever leave his soulmate for someone else, jun will never fathom at the thought.
but jun knew your side of the story, how you felt watching your soulmate drew you guys apart. no, he wasn’t your friend per say, not in his official title anyway. when you were admitted into the hospital, jun was only there as a volunteer. he had a responsibility to look after all his assigned patients as comfort companions through their clinical care, including you.
you were the hospital’s one exception. at the point of your critical condition, doctors truly didn’t know when the time would pass. knowing no one else in the states aside from your family, jun soon became your side by side as hospital bed buddies. and hated every moment of it.
he hated the way you smiled so brightly for him every day despite how sick you were. but stare blankly at your food whenever it came to you and end up not eating. he hated how you easily created friendships with the nurses and other caretakers at hospital, including himself. but refused to take your medication. he hated how fondly you talked about love when you weren’t feeling it. he hated hearing the sniffles that came from your room every morning after he clocked in. he hated it so much that you still smiled saying your soulmate's name even though he was doing the same thing for someone else. in the end, jun was too late to tell you all that.
fate, being the sick bastard that it is, has jun meeting the one person he actually came to hate. and he’ll do one better. just like how jeonghan never got to know about your true feelings and conditions, jun will never tell him how much he truly cared for you. how he was entirely convinced he, a person who wasn’t even destined to have a soulmate, could fill the void that jeonghan had left.
the longer jun stands there, the small pit of anger quietly begins to boil and that was his cue to leave. he avoids eye contact as he stirs away from the flowers he left you and tries to make his exits, stopping at his tracks when jeonghan speaks once again.
“then can i ask you something? your opinion as her friend. since you know,” he hiccups, the words coming out a beat too late. his voice also shaky, not knowing if it was due to the cold or the rise of his nerves.
jun leans on one leg, stuffing his hands in the side pockets of his leathered coat. he almost says no. he wants to say no. “shoot,” sounding unbothered.
“do you think she’d still want to be my soulmate in a different life?”
jeonghan’s heart churns at his own question, as does jun’s. he could have asked any other question, but out of the hundreds he accumulated in the mile walk here, jeonghan figured this was the one that jun could at least give some thought.
jun takes a sharp inhale in, his nails forming small crescent moons into his palm. with a heavy sigh, he turns back around and scoffs at the sight of jeonghan tearing up in front of you. and with gritted teeth, he responds.
“of course she would.”

Umm, a scenario please with a jealous midorima!! Like the reader likes him, and he likes her. But both are shy/afraid to confess. And like, the reason they started talking was because of takao, so midorima misinterpets the reader liking takao, but she's just shy to act around him or something like that. So midorima is also aloof slash cold idk so reader thinks he hates/isn't interested in her. HEA pls!! :P thank youu ❤️
It’s a bit long, but I hope you like it!! xx
Scenario: Jealous Midorima with a crush on you
You weren’t too sure how it happened, but Takao was one of your first friends at Shutoku when you joined. You kind of lucked out on your first day by getting assigned a seat next to him because he was really easy to talk to, so you weren’t as lonely as you thought you’d be. Eventually, the two of you ended up becoming quite good friends and he introduced you to his teammate, Midorima, who he talked about quite often.
Midorima was also in your class, but he never really talked to you. Takao would often have to bounce back and forth between you two because both of you were equally as shy around new people and were unwilling to go through the awkward introduction. Takao finally got fed up though, so he just forced you two to talk to each other.
“Y/N, this is Midorima Shintaro. Shin-chan, this is Y/N,” Takao said, eyes sparkling and voice full of energy as he was desperate to minimise the amount of time he had to spend repeating the same stories.
“Hi, nice to meet you,” he said, seemingly fed up by Takao’s antics. While he appeared disinterested on the outside, Midorima thought you were incredibly cute— and totally his type. He just didn’t know how to flirt nor did he know how to hold a conversation with someone new, even if he really would like to get to know you more.
“Nice to meet you too,” you replied curtly.
There was nothing but an awkward silence left after that as both of you avoided any form of eye contact.
Takao let out a sigh, “You two are hopeless.” Takao swung his arm around your shoulders and shifted his weight onto you. “Y/N here is really interesting you know. You two are just too quiet for your own good. We’re all buddies now— no objections,” Takao declared, earning a small giggle from you at how carefree he was.
You noticed Midorima just roll his eyes at him. Something about the way his arm was hung around you and the fact that he made you giggle like that made Midorima feel slightly annoyed. He was aware that Takao was just like that with everyone, but the green haired boy couldn’t help but envy how he could so easily touch you without it being a big deal. “I don’t like the fact that I have no say in this, but whatever,” he said bluntly, not seeming interested in being there whatsoever.
As time went by, the three of you became quite close. You’d spend most of your time hanging out with them, however you still found it rather difficult to talk to Midorima even after months of being around him and Takao. You really wished you were more comfortable talking to him because you’d begun to develop feelings for him and you wanted to build up the courage to tell him by talking to him more, but it was impossible for you to approach him. He just had this energy that made you feel like he probably didn’t like you and was only forced to be your friend. Though you did have to keep reminding yourself that you’re probably just overthinking it.
Midorima on the other hand, did his best to avoid spending time with you and Takao. For some reason, he hated how much you’d talk and laugh with Takao as it just filled him with this resentful feeling that made him wish that he was as easygoing as his friend. He’d never admit to himself that he was jealous though— his pride wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Furthermore, to him, it was as clear as day that you liked Takao. You spent most of your time in class around him, and Midorima swore that your face would light up every time he was around you. So to avoid the pain in his chest he’d feel every time he sees that, he did his best not to be with you two together. That didn’t stop him from thinking about you all the time though. You took up so much of his thoughts that he just found himself constantly comparing himself to Takao and wishing that he was different.
You were meant to be hanging out with Midorima and Takao one evening because there was this new pastry shop that Takao was dying to try out, and obviously he had to drag you two along with him. All of you had decided to meet at the shop and you thought that you would be the last one to get there since you were running a few minutes late. However, when you arrived, you were surprised to find just Midorima sitting at a table with two empty chairs.
“Hey, sorry I’m a bit late. Where’s Takao?” you greeted him as you took a seat.
“No idea. That idiot won’t pick up my calls,” Midorima said with a shrug as he put his phone down on the table in frustration.
“That’s weird. Let me give it a try,” you said as you fished your phone out of your pocket.
It took a few rings but Takao eventually picked up. “Hey Takao. Midorima and I are at the shop. Where are you?” you spoke.
“I’m sorry, Y/N, I don’t think I can make it. My mum wants me to drop my sister off at her friend’s house all of a sudden,” Takao explained, with a slight ruffling sound in the background.
“Oh that sucks. Maybe we can come here with you some other time then,” you said.
“Yeah hopefully. I was looking forward to it. Anyways, have fun guys,” Takao replied, still a hint of cheeriness in his tone.
“He’s not coming,” you informed Midorima (who was slightly offended that Takao picked up your call and not his) once you ended your conversation with Takao.
“Well isn’t that lovely,” he said sarcastically.
You were really hoping that Takao would come because now that the two of you were alone, you didn’t know what to do. “So now what?” you said, praying that it wouldn’t be as awkward as you imagine.
“I mean, we might as well get something since we’re here,” Midorima shrugged, not wanting the trip here to have gone to waste, but at the same time wanting to spend some time with you. “Unless you want to leave?”
“No, no, it’s alright. I’ve been waiting to try this place out for a while anyways,” you said as you picked up the menu and began to browse through in silence.
The two of you placed your orders and sat there waiting impatiently. The place was rather busy so you were surrounded by a faint chatter, however the air between you two was heavy.
“So, do you have any matches coming up?” you asked to fill the silence. You had to get to know him eventually— he’s best friends with someone you’re close to after all.
“Yeah, preliminaries are starting in about two weeks I think,” Midorima replied.
“Oh, text me the dates— I might drop by. I’ve heard you’re quite a star on the court so I’ve been dying to see you play,” you smiled, hoping that it wasn’t too forward of you to be saying something like that when you liked him.
“Really? Are you sure you don’t just want to watch Takao?” Midorima asked simply. He was convinced that you liked Takao so he felt that it was okay to be saying it as it is, even though it did hurt slightly.
“Well, sure I can watch Takao too I guess. You’re both my friends and on the same team after all,” you said, slightly confused as to why he’d say something like that. “I’m really interested to see you though.”
“Why’s that?”
“Takao’s been raving about how you can shoot from anywhere on the court and I really want to see you in action, you know?” you said.
“You can always drop by a practice to see that too,” he said.
“Really? Can I?” You said as your eyes lit up.
“You’re awfully excited to see me play,” Midorima joked, the faintest of smiles appearing on his face, making you realise how rare it was to see him like this. “Sure, you can come watch.”
“Woah, I’ve never seen you smile,” you pointed out, making him immediately straighten his expression.
“What do you mean? Am I not allowed to smile?” he asked, crossing his arms as he leaned back in his seat.
“No, you’re allowed to— it’s just that I’ve never seen it before until now... it’s kind of cute,” you said, mumbling the last part.
Midorima felt his cheeks heat up at the sound of those words. He did hear you call him cute, right? “Thanks. But don’t think saying that is going to make me smile more. I smile when I want to,” Midorima said defensively, feeling as though he could explode at any moment now.
“Noted,” you chuckled. “You know, I always thought you hated me or something. So I’m glad we can talk like this,” you said honestly, trying to continue the conversation and avoid any awkward silences.
“Hate you? Why would I hate you?” Midorima questioned. If anything, it was the pure opposite. He was sure that he had fallen for you. He just didn’t know how to express it.
“I don’t know, you just don’t say much when I’m around. I know you talk to Takao a lot though, so I figured I was the issue,” you explained with a shrug.
“I can assure you it’s nothing like that— you’re thinking too much into it. I thought you preferred talking to Takao so I just backed off a bit,” he said, not sure how he ended up being so honest with you.
“I don’t really have any preferences like that. I’ve been wanting to talk to you more but I didn’t know how. In a way, I’m kind of glad we can spend some time like this, you know? Did you really think I preferred Takao that much?”
“Well, yeah. I kind of thought you had a crush on him or something,” he said, not wanting to meet your eyes because he was aware about how strange it sounded.
“On Takao? No way. He’s really just a close friend. I don’t see him like that,” you replied, unable to hold back a small laugh.
For reasons he didn’t want to admit, Midorima felt a surge of happiness upon hearing those words. “Oh that makes things easier,” he thought out loud without realising it.
“How so?” you replied, making him panic internally.
Was he really going to say it now? “Well, I have feelings for you and I’ve been holding back from saying anything because I thought you liked Takao. But since that’s not the case, I guess I feel more comfortable saying it now,” he said, aware that he was blabbering to delay your response out of nervousness.
There was a moment of silence between you two as you processed what he had just said. You could barely believe your ears. The feelings were mutual after all.
Midorima finally looked at you to see if he could understand how you were feeling based on your expressions, but all he managed to think of was how pretty you looked sitting across from him. “If you don’t feel the same way, it’s alright. We can just pretend I never said anything—“
“No,” you cut him off as you placed your hand over his, which was resting on the table. “I definitely feel the same way. I just can’t believe that it’s actually real,” you chuckled.
Midorima looked down at how your small hand laid on top of his and he couldn’t help but think that his heart was going to beat right out of his chest at the sound of those words as well as the way you smiled at him. He couldn’t believe that he was the one that got you to smile like that, let alone that you actually felt the same way.
“Are you sure you’re not just saying that?” Midorima asked, his paranoid mind still unable to believe that this was actually happening.
“I’m certain,” you said, giving his hand a tight squeeze. “So, is this our first date?” you giggled jokingly.
“No way. I will take you out on my own terms so this doesn’t count,” he said, the smile returning to his face once again as he found your giggles contagious.
You found yourself getting lost in his green eyes as both of your hearts beat at the speed of light. “Well then, I can’t wait.”

Mafia
Hey there friends! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve actually posted something.
Let me just say, Happy Holidays! I hope you are having a wonderful and safe holiday.
This fic was inspired and written for @butterscotchbaku and @in-this-house-we-stan-izuku based on some requests I had written in, as well as just ideas passed back and forth.
I hope you two are having a wonderful day and may that continue into the new year! Thank you for all you’ve written and done!
Pairing: Izuku/Fem.Reader
Warnings: mentioned beatings, mentioned assault but nothing described in detail. all very vague. uhh violence, or hinted at violence. Edited only by me, so i may have missed something.
 I think that’s it.
I hope you two enjoy this!
Cigarette smoke hung heavily in the room, walls filled with generic knickknacks and warm colored walls gave the meeting a false sense of pleasantness. To any unsuspecting person, this was any other meeting room, one long table with rounded edges and somewhat padded chairs, the head of the table having the one most plush.
Hell, even the people occupying them would have anyone turning up their nose in disinterest. Nothing but business men and women in dark, smart looking suits.
But you knew better. Sitting at the head was the infamous Izuku Midoriya, known under the name of Deku, direct descendent of the greatest Mafia leader Japan had ever seen; All Might.
And here you sat, comfortably in Izuku’s lap, your temple pressed against his neck as you listened to his voice rumble on towards the other members. You were hardly paying attention to what was being said as you glanced around the room to the others.
Katsuki Bakugou- Dynamite, or TNT if you were feeling particularly cheeky. He was head of interrogation, finding out who knew what and definitely had too many ways of making people talk, and only one sure fire way of keeping them quiet.
Todoroki Shouto- Bakugou’s counter in interrogation. He was mainly there to keep Bakugou from killing every target. He could control his temper, sure, but Todoroki added a sense of cold unease to their targets. He was effective against the folks who didn’t rise to Bakugou’s jabs and threats. He tapped the ashes of his cigarette into the small dish provided.
Kirishima Eijirou- Red Riot-another strong man and a third in the interrogation squad. He kept Bakugou from grousing the entire time, as well as leveling the two tempers in the group. Though he was a strong man, he was also incredibly sweet. You recalled that, while dealing with some unsavory characters that had children- typically rescuing the children at the other parents pleading- Red Riot was a favorite with them, his bright smile and charm keeping them distracted as Bakugou and Todoroki dealt with the problem.
Iida- Ingenium-was the getaway driver, best out of the best. He somehow always managed to get them out as quickly as possible while still following the law. It made losing the police all the easier. Ochaco Uraraka, or Uravity, was the treasurer, in charge of keeping account of all of the mafia’s funds, who owed them money and why. For more problematic clients, she was a stickler down to the very last penny.
There were others, but those were just the ones in the room at the moment. You sighed softly, adjusting in Izuku’s lap. Someone at the end of the table was pleading for something. You could tell by the unimpressed glare on Izuku’s face that it was going south for whoever this was- a blond man with an inferiority complex for certain.
You glanced down at your left hand, engagement ring shimmering brightly despite the warm fluorescent lights. It wasn’t very large, an emerald surrounded by diamonds. He’d only given it to you a few days ago. On a rare day, you were able to go out with him in public-the benefit of a mask and some contacts while on the job- you had decided to flit about a few museums. The ring caught your eye immediately, the prized possession of some rich so and so, dating back who knows how long in their family.
Maybe it was because of how brightly it matched your lovers eyes, but the ring called to you. You didn’t mention a peep to your lover however. You knew he would have taken it right then and there. You rather liked coming to this museum, with added security after a robbery, you would have to frequent it less.
Your lovestruck fool of a man decided to do it anyway. He’d said that the plan went off without a hitch, though the smudges of dirt and a bit of blood- not his own- said otherwise. At the time, you had to question why, sure he’d robbed plenty of other places, gifts for trips that took longer than expected, but a place that you favored going?
“I’m just crazy about you doll, You deserve the best of the best. The way you eyed that ring, I knew there’d be nothing else that would be more perfect for you. But, it’s not just because you fancied it that I got it for you. We’re together, we always will be...but I want to make it more official. I wanna be yours forever, and I want you to be mine. What do you say doll? Marry me?”
You couldn’t say yes fast enough.
A gentle nudge to your shoulder brought you out of your daze. You looked up to the love of your life.
“What do you think dollface? What should we do with Monama?”
You sat up in his lap, watching as the blond shivered in his spot, a smirk on your fiance’s face hidden by his fist as he leaned against it.
“Monama, what is it he did again?”
“Well Doll, he owes us money. He swears he’s good for it, but this is the third time he hasn’t been good for it.What should we do with this foolish, foolish man?”
Monama...ah yes now you remembered him! A little wanna be Mafia leader who went under when he ran out of money. He placed bets with other rival gangs against Deku, proclaiming that not only could he and his group get it done, but get it done better.
There were times when they had, though just barely. It was hardly enough to keep a betting pool aimed against Deku however. Everyone but him seemed to know it. The overconfidence in his group and underestimating Deku lead to his downfall when Deku pulled off an impossible mission without even having to undo his tie.
When these gangs came to collect, he begged Deku to allow him and his group safety, help paying off the debt. Deku agreed, but in return, he had a year to earn the money back, only adding interest when the blond began getting too cocky.
“I just need a little more time! A day, give me a day!” he pleaded, voice shrill and desperate.
You winced, brows scrunched in annoyance.
Honestly, you didn’t care for Monama, and weren’t all too excited for his continued presence in the gang. You looked down at your nails idly.
“Have Dynamite follow him for a day then. If whatever magic he seems to think he can pull off, doesn’t in fact pull off, then he can have fun beating the change out of him. Or, whoever he’s seeing to get the money can pay it” You figured, even though he’d be annoyed at the idea of tailing that worm, Bakugou would have a good time beating it out of him.
Izuku gave Bakugou a look, who only snarled in response. A tilt of his head and Bakugou got up from his chair, footsteps heavy as he grabbed Monama by the arm, “Let’s get this over with you pathetic extra,” rolling his eyes as Moana sagged in slight relief, gratitude spilling from his lips.
Izuku held up a hand, “Let Red Riot escort him out for now. We have some business that you’d like to be here for I’m sure”
Bakugou’s eyes widened a fraction, a grin making its way onto his face as he shoved Monama towards Kirishima.
As Bakugou took his seat and Kirishima exited with Monama in tow, another man entered the room, a small man with purple hair. You recognized him as Mineta’s father. His son’s invention, a sticky substance that rendered anything in its grip as good as stuck, was what kept him in the group. What had him on thin ice however, was his treatment of the women in the group, all things he learned from his father. Izuku left Iida to beat it out of him however he saw fit. All it would take is one more strike.
His father, however, was all out of strikes. The way he leered at you and the other girls had you all walking on eggshells around him. You only came forward to Izuku about it after you and the others had confided in one another. He had groped at you after a party the gang had thrown. It was the first and last time he’d ever made a physical move towards you.
You could feel the man's lecherous eyes on you, making you lean into Izuku, his body blocking the man's gaze.
While you told him your story, Izuku’s face had remained calm, though the cup he had been holding shattered into thousands of pieces. He knew there were rumors about the senior, but to have it be found out as fact, and not just rumors from other gangs... He was furious, you knew that, and you knew somehow, someway, that Minoru senior would pay.
“Doll, why don’t you go talk to YaoMomo about wedding dresses, hm?” You nodded your head, though hesitant to leave the safety and comfort of his lap. You knew you were safe with Izuku by your side, but that didn’t mean you were comfortable passing by this...Disgusting being. His gaze softened and he hooked his arm around yours, escorting you personally towards the door.
Izuku tilted your head into a sweet kiss, his thumb rubbing comforting circles onto your side.
Izuku opened the door for you, but before you left, he kissed you again, deeper, sweeping away the sickly feeling of being watched with his tongue as it danced with yours, one hand cupping your jaw to pull you close.
He pulled away all too soon for your tastes, hand leaving your jaw, “Actually, maybe talk with her about the cake too, this may take a bit...” he turned away from you, eyes turning cold and jaded as the door closed.
“It’s about to get ugly in here”

Vincent found out about the relation between Hang Fei and the boss of the Abyss bar through the moon ornament in Room 1001. The boss requested to see Marius and stated that he had important information. After thinking things over several times, Marius and I decided to meet him as agreed upon.
 Abyss Bar
There was no one in the bar when Marius and I arrived.
Tumblr media
Bar Boss: Master von Hagen, Miss Lawyer, please come this way.
The boss pointed us to a spot in front of the bar table. We sat as he indicated.
Marius: You must be the one that Vincent said wanted to meet me?
Bar Boss: You’re being quite direct, Master von Hagen. Shouldn’t you exchange a few pleasantries with me?
Marius: My time’s precious, and I don’t want to use it to speak in a roundabout way with you.
Marius: Tell me, what do you want?
Bar Boss: Nothing major – I simply want Master von Hagen to owe me a “favour”.
The boss took a document envelope from under the cabinet and placed it in front of Marius and me.
Bar Boss: Including that foster care contract from before, these are all of the Hang family’s secrets.
Bar Boss: As long as you get this, all of your current questions will be answered.
Marius: You told Vincent that you got these because Hang Fei owed you money.
Marius didn’t follow along with the boss. Instead, he changed directions.
Marius: What happened between you and Hang Fei?
Bar Boss: Nothing much. Hang Fei merely spent some money here, but ended up unable to pay up.
Bar Boss: Master von Hagen, you’re also a businessman, so you should get that no one can enjoy a service without paying up, right?
Bar Boss: So I thought up of a compromise for him.
✼ ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ✼
[Flashback]
Hang Fei: B-boss, give me a few more days. I’ll definitely get all the money needed.
Hang Fei looked at the few guards around the boss, starting to mumble subconsciously.
Bar Boss: Mister Hang, you’ve been dragging this on for a long time. Time waits for no one.
Hang Fei: No, boss, please just trust me once more and give me more time. I’ll definitely get you the money this time.
Hang Fei: I can go get them…
The boss looked at Hang Fei, his eyes moving back and forth.
Bar Boss: Mister Hang, after seeing your sincerity, I do have another idea to give you time.
Hang Fei: What idea?
Bar Boss: In this world, there are things worth more than money, such as… secrets.
Bar Boss: If you can find a secret like this as temporary collateral… I don’t mind collecting my “service fees” a little later.
Hang Fei: …
Hang Fei went silent for a moment.
Hang Fei: I do have secrets like this – they even have to do with me.
Hang Fei: If this secret were exposed, I wouldn’t even be able to continue living.
Hang Fei: Boss, this is temporarily sufficient, isn’t it?
Bar Boss: Of course. If you give it to me, I can give you more time.

Tumblr media
Marius: …
Tumblr media
MC: Boss, to be frank, this is extortion.
Bar Boss: Extortion? Miss, you’re exaggerating.
Bar Boss: I merely wanted the money that Hang Fei owed me – this is what I’ve done for so many years.
Bar Boss: And no one’s ever been able to lay a finger on me.
MC: You…
Bar Boss: Plus, what Hang Fei has done is much worse than me.
Marius: What did Hang Fei do?
Bar Boss: After the first time he left these things as collateral, he quickly found Xu Yin and the other “protagonist of the secret”, then extorted them of money.
Bar Boss: He immediately gave this money to me and got his secrets back. But…
Bar Boss: He started to get “addicted”, maybe because of the “sweetness” of that particular experience…
Bar Boss: Whenever he owed me money, he’d leave the “secrets” as collateral, then would once again extort those two of their money.
Bar Boss: At the end, he even demanded money from those two that far exceeded the amount owned, for his own frivolous squandering…
Bar Boss: See, aren’t I much more law-abiding than he is?
MC: …
MC: (Although, this does explain why Hang Fei’s family life didn’t deteriorate, despite his gambling.)
Bar Boss: How about it, Master von Hagen? Want to do business with me?
Bar Boss: You just need to owe me a favour to get what you want – it’s a great deal.
Marius: Oh? You know what it is that I want?
Bar Boss: Of course. What you want…
The boss looked at Marius, then at me.
Bar Boss: Has to do with Hang Fei’s daughter, Hang Jiahe, correct?
MC: …
Marius: How did you know?
Bar Boss: Master Lu, aren’t you curious about why I wasn’t stressed at all, despite Hang Fei’s half-year disappearance?
Marius: …
Bar Boss: That’s because someone was repaying money “for” him.
✼ ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ✼
[Flashback]
January 29th.
Bar Boss: You’re right, Hang Fei did leave some things as collateral here.
The boss looked at the woman in front of him, his smile as steadfast as ever.
Bar Boss: But, Miss Hang, you won’t be able to take those things just because you’re his daughter.
Bar Boss: If you want to take those things, then return the money first.
Hang Jiahe: How much does he owe?
Bar Boss: This much.
The boss drew out a number.
Tumblr media
Hang Jiahe: This much?!
Bar Boss: I’ll give you those things as long as you repay the money, Miss Hang.
Tumblr media
Hang Jiahe: How would I be able to take out this much money right now?!
Bar Boss: Then…
Bar Boss: Like your father, Miss Hang, you can use secrets as collateral.
Bar Boss: You must be someone who also knows many secrets.
Hang Jiahe: …
Hang Jiahe lowered her head in thought.
Hang Jiahe: I can’t. The things I know can be used elsewhere.
Hang Jiahe: Boss, please give me some more time. I’ll definitely get enough money within half a year to a full year.
Hang Jiahe: Within this time, please don’t give these things to anyone else.
Hang Jiahe: I can hand over some money right now as a deposit.
Bar Boss: Ah, alright. I’ve never rejected the pleas of a beauty.
[Flashback end]
✼ ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ✼
Tumblr media
Marius: …
MC: (Based on Hang Jiahe’s actions, it seems like the boss really does have what we need.)
Bar Boss: How about it, the two of you? Have you thought things over?
Bar Boss: With all I’ve said, you must believe that what I have is what you need.
MC: As the condition you gave to Hang Jiahe was paying money, we can also pay you money.
Bar Boss: That was the condition for Hang Jiahe, not you two.
Bar Boss: My condition for you is something more valuable…  that is, a promise from Master von Hagen.
MC: …
I snuck a glance at Marius. But he looked completely calm, even somewhat disinterested.
Marius: Thank you for the information you’ve given us. I will have Vincent compensate you shortly.
Marius: Let’s end things here for today.
Marius then tugged me up from my seat to leave.
Tumblr media
Bar Boss: Wait, Marius von Hagen, don’t you want what’s in the bag?
Marius: I do, but I hate being threatened even more.
Marius: I seriously doubt that there’s anything in the world that Pax can’t find out about.
Bar Boss: Of course you’d be able to find out about it with the power of Pax – but you have no time.
MC: What do you mean?
Bar Boss: You’ve already met Hang Jiahe, haven’t you? Plus, I bet that the police have already overturned the charges against Wang Chunchong.
Marius: …
Bar Boss: Then, did you know that Hang Jiahe suddenly came here yesterday with a large sum of money, and bought away a portion of the things in this bag?
MC: !!!
Bar Boss: I saw that she looked very anxious, so I warned her – out of the goodness of my heart – that it would be best to not destroy it for now.
Bar Boss: These are unusual times, after all…
Bar Boss: Based on how she reacted, she listened to me, but…
Bar Boss: Say, if I called her right now and told her everything that just happened…
Bar Boss: How would she deal with those things?
MC: …
Marius: …
Though we didn’t want to admit it, what the boss had just mentioned was at the very bottom of the list of things we wanted to happen.
Marius: …
Marius looked around. When his sight swept over the bar table, he stopped for a moment. Seeming like he’d thought of something, he spoke with a smile.
Marius: If so, boss, would you perhaps be interested in playing a game with me?
MC: !!!
Marius: If I win, you give those things to me unconditionally, but if I lose…
Marius: We’ll go with your deal – I get those things, and I’ll owe you a favour. As long as it isn’t illegal, I can help you once in the future.
Marius: Also, you cannot tell Hang Jiahe about what happened between us today.
Bar Boss: Master von Hagen, you sure have thought things through – no matter what the result is, you can still take those things away.
Marius: But this is your one opportunity to establish a relationship with me and Pax, isn’t it?
Bar Boss: … What do you want to play?
Marius: Since this is a bar, you must have dice here.
Marius: One die per person. Whoever throws the higher number wins. How about it?
Bar Boss: I’m fine with it, but Master von Hagen, I have never lost this game. Are you sure you want to play it with me?
Marius: We haven’t even played yet, so who knows who the winner will be? Plus, isn’t it better if you win?
Bar Boss: Alright, then.
The boss took out two dice and two wooden dice holders, giving one each to Marius and himself.
Bar Boss: One round decides all. Then, let’s…
MC: Wait. I have to inspect the dice and holders.
Bar Boss: …
Bar Boss: Alright, please do, miss.
The boss gave all items to me. I examined the two holders – nothing stood out to me. But when I examined the two dice, I noticed a slight difference between the two of them.
Tumblr media
MC: …
MC: This…
Marius: No abnormalities, right, great lawyer?
I was just about to speak when Marius cut me short. He winked at me, as if hinting something. I understood.
MC: No abnormalities. Please start.
Bar Boss: Then, Master von Hagen, one round decides all. Go ahead.
Marius and the boss cast their dice simultaneously. The night-coloured holders flew up and down in Marius’ hand as the die slammed on the walls of the holder, creating a clear sound.
Clack.
Both of them sealed off the holders simultaneously.
Bar Boss: Master von Hagen, open?
Marius: Wait.
Marius pressed down on both holders.
Marius: I will confirm again – you haven’t forgotten the conditions from before, have you?
Bar Boss: Of course. The one with more dots wins.
Marius: Good.
Marius opened the two holders. The two dice displayed a massive difference in dots.
Bar Boss: This… impossible!
Marius: I got 6, you got 1… looks like my luck’s pretty decent.
MC: You won!
Bar Boss: …
The boss looked at the dice and pondered for a moment.
Bar Boss: Hah… as expected of Master von Hagen. I lost.
Marius: Hand those things over.
Bar Boss: Don’t worry, I won’t go back on a deal. Here you go.
Bar Boss: Although… aside from that psychiatrist, it’s been a very long time since I’ve experienced this feeling of defeat.
Bar Boss: I can’t help wondering if you know him.
Tumblr media
Marius: You’re overthinking.
Tumblr media
MC: …
Marius took the file envelope and tugged me up, preparing to leave the bar.
Bar Boss: Also, I’d like to let you know that there is a portable hard drive and several photos in the envelope.
Bar Boss: There’s a connection between the contents of the hard drive and the photos.
Bar Boss: Hang Jiahe bought a portion of the hard drive’s contents.
Bar Boss: And she appears the most in the photos.
Marius: Noted.
✼ ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ✼
In Marius’ Car
When we returned to Marius’ car, I couldn’t help showing how excited I was.
MC: Marius, you were way too awesome just now!
Marius: No big deal – just some insignificant talents.
MC: But how did you win? The boss’s die…
Marius: You probably also noticed when inspecting them that his die was heavier than mine.
MC: Yeah, so I was wondering if there was something placed in it.
Marius: In that die, right behind the 1 dot, there’s a magnet.
Marius: When shaking the die, as long as the boss secretly holds another magnet…
Marius: He’d be able to use the opposite attractive force and the relative locations of the different dots to throw a result he wants.
MC: But if so, shouldn’t he have cast a 6? How did it end up as a 1?
Marius: About that…
Marius spread his left hand at me. There was a little brooch there, with a magnet at the bottom of it.
MC: !!!
Marius: Since I know how he plans to cheat, I naturally have to counterattack.
Marius: So before he revealed his die, I touched his holder.
Marius: Thanks to my magnet, the die will change again.
MC: Oh… then how did you cast a 6?
Marius: About that… even the rich sons of the so-called upper class can’t evade the allure of dice.
Marius: I do have to learn a few things to maintain my indulgent rich son persona.
Marius: There’s a certain method to guarantee a chance of rolling the amount you want.
MC: Is that so…
Marius: Mere little skills – nothing to show off about.
Marius: Let’s not talk about these for now – instead, we should see what’s in the envelope.
I opened the envelope, taking out a stack of photos and a portable hard drive.
Tumblr media
MC: H-how could this…
Tumblr media
Marius: …
When I saw what was in the photos, my hands started to tremble.
There were many photos of children, most of whom were around 6 or 7, and their bodies were covered in numerous purple marks. The photos were taken in hidden, dark conditions from awkward angles, and those children, who should have been running free under the sun, had faces covered with tears. Each one held old toys covered in dust, and some toys were even missing sections, looking utterly broken.
MC: Marius, aren’t these toys the same ones as the ones we saw in the Room 1001 toy display cabinet?
Marius: Yes.
MC: Could it be that… Hang Fei would collect these toys for his own enjoyment?
Marius: Or maybe these toys were what Hang Fei used to kidnap them.
Marius: But regardless of which it is, based on what the boss said, what’s in this hard drive…
MC: The contents have to do with the photos… these photos come from the contents of the hard drive…
MC: Against these children, did Hang Fei…
Were these children victims of Hang Fei’s abuse?!
I couldn’t even finish my sentence.
Marius: It’s not just children – there are also photos of Qi Yu. The only difference is that she’s not holding any toys.
Marius: Also, just as the boss said, one child appears particularly often in the photos.
Marius: If this child really is Hang Jiahe, then…
MC: We’ve found Hang Jiahe’s motive for murdering Hang Fei.

Queen of Hearts pt 13
A/N: Always and first thank you to my bestie @chloes-yellow-cup for always doing the thing. and to @kimmania who always gives each chapter a thoughtful review.
13.
“Oh, my dear it’s so lovely of you to come to brunch. I was starting to feel a little put off you know. All those invitations you so politely refused. I was beginning to think you were avoiding me.”
Stacie smiled and sipped her cool iced tea to give herself a moment. It was true, she had ignored all of Edith’s requests to have lunch. And yes, she had been avoiding the older woman. It was a matter of self-preservation really. Keeping up the appearance of normality around someone as observant as Edith Roussard-Ford was never easy. She had a keen eye and open ear to everything that happened to the biggest families in society.
“Well…I suppose I can be frank with you. Now…that things are…resolved.”
The old woman across from her nodded encouragement and leaned forward eager for any tidbit she could glean from Stacie. It was necessary even she’d rather not talk about life with Weston. When dealing with Edith you had to give some to get some.
“Of course, my dear. Dreadful business…”
“It was hard to get away…often times my only haven was my work. Weston was…” Stacie trailed off and cleared her throat. It wasn’t acting, the rush of anxiety she experienced just thinking about that time robbed her of speech. “Weston Whitman was a very controlling man. Controlling and more often than not…violent.”
It never got any easier admitting the truth of things but she raised her chin defiantly. Edith’s eyes widened slightly but her surprise was more about Stacie admitting it than the confirmation itself. She waited a beat for the other woman to ask what she knew was coming.
“Oh, dreadful. Just dreadful. And still…you never knew? There wasn’t a hint of suspicion about his true character?”
“Of his character, yes. Of his actual coming and goings and affairs…no. I had no knowledge of those terrible things. I shudder to think of him, under my roof, sleeping next to me self-satisfied with the blood of innocent women on his hands. What a joke I must have been to him with my work at the shelter, helping him keep up the façade unknowingly.”
“To think nothing of the scandal about the money.”
Of course, the money was far more important a topic than her public humiliation and shame. Stacie let her gaze drop demurely. Money was everything in this world, who had it, who needed it, and who stole it…
“I’ll admit Edith, I had some concerns about Weston’s business. He seemed edgy and evasive and he asked me to empty my personal safe…spending cash. Some jewelry. It was nothing that would ever pay back his investors.”
“I heard the federal agents seized everything. It’s a wonder you have a roof over your head, my dear.”
Stacie’s smile was brief and coy. “Much like oil and water, money and love simply do not mix. When you’re a Conrad you learn that at quite a young age.”
Edith leaned back to watch her carefully. Weighing all that she had learned and the earnestness in which Stacie had conveyed it. She could see the respect dawn in Edith’s gaze and when the woman leaned forward again it was with eager confidence.
“You may be a Conrad in name but you are Helene’s daughter in more than appearance. Your father barely had a nickel to his name when she ran off with him. Now there’s a scandal for you!”
It was surprising and Edith laughed gleefully when it showed on her face. She’d been raised her whole life on the presumption that her mother hand done what she had been expected to do. Money marries into money.
“Didn’t know that did you? She might have run off with August but she was no fool. Van der Berg family lawyers ensured he couldn’t take a dime of it.” Interesting. Stacie made a soft thoughtful sound and Edith continued unprompted. “You have to hand it to August. He made a name for himself. All that money is his by right…I suppose.”
Stacie’s brows came up and she tipped her head to the side. “You sound doubtful of that Edith.”
“I wouldn’t dream of speaking ill of your father, dear. I know you’re not close but there are some bonds that can’t be broken. Family bonds. You understand. I wouldn’t want you to have different opinions of your father. He’s done well by your mother.”
It was there, below the surface, begging to brought into the open. Stacie could feel it between them, brewing like a great storm. One little flicker of interest and it would come out. And then things would change forever between Stacie and August Conrad. And with that she was sure the tentative and fragile bridge she and her mother were building.
But if she were really like her mother, Helene would understand why she was doing this. At least that is what she hoped if this all ever came to light. Stacie let out a soft sigh and leaned back. She couldn’t out right ask about it, it had to be done delicately. Edith watched her work through the knowledge that there was something going on that she hadn’t been aware of. It was a careful dance baiting the woman to reveal more than what Stacie herself had given.
“Well, whatever my father is or is not doing, it’s nothing I know about. He and Weston shared that in common.”
“Ah yes. Thick as thieves those two…”
There it was. The hook Edith thought she was dropping in the water. Stacie batted her eyes in mild confusion, ignoring the slightly predatory smile on the old woman’s face. Her lip pouted out just enough to give the impression that she wasn’t making the leap entirely. Stacie smiled inwardly as Edith swallowed her own lure.
“Mind you, I’m not saying August is a thief, he’s merely an opportunist you see. He’s very good at knowing who to know. It’s how he made his fortune through the years. Nothing illegal in it exactly. Most would say it’s a shrewd bit of business.”
“But I don’t see how that could help him benefit from Weston’s…activities. Of course, he knows everyone, he’s a politician.”
“Hm indeed, indeed. Of course, he wouldn’t be involved in any such thing. Strike it from your thoughts, my dear.” The woman brushed a hand over her knuckles, and not for the first time during the conversation. Aubrey probably would have called the tell earlier but Stacie was proud of herself for picking it up now. “In any case I am quite sure Senator Grant and Warren Randall would lean very heavily on your father if they felt he was in any way responsible for Weston stealing their money.”
Stacie’s heart beat double time but she rolled her shoulders casually in a shrug. Jackson Grant and Warren Randall were her father’s closest confidants, present at every family function since as far back as she could remember. Uncle Jack had even gifted her the first horse she had ever owned. They were, in a fashion, family.
“I haven’t seen Uncle Jack in a few years. Not since his son Kodie and I went to Senior Prom together.”
It hadn’t been her choice of date, and the argument that had raged in the Conrad home had lasted three intolerable days, she and her mother butting heads on everything from the color of her dress to the way she wore her hair. Kodie wasn’t a bad guy and truthfully, he hadn’t wanted to go the dance with her any more than she had with them. But it had been arranged years before the event was even due to take place. In the end they both dutifully took their places next to each other for pictures in the foyer before escaping to the limo to get happily drunk on the well-stocked wet bar.
“I had almost forgotten about the blush of young love. I was worried about that boy for a while. You heard they caught him awhile back in a house full of street whores and enough cocaine to give that Tony Montana character a seizure.”
Her brows came up at that. It seemed unlike the boy she had known but people changed and it took more strength to keep from breaking under the family pressure than perhaps Kodie had. She let her curiosity at the topic glimmer to the surface.
“A house full of…he was the perfect gentleman at prom. I can hardly imagine that scene.”
“Who can say what’s gotten into that young man. If Jackson hadn’t gotten him a job at the Port of Los Angeles, he’d probably be in an out of rehab facilities I imagine.”
She could tell by the way Edith waved a hand dismissively that Kodie wasn’t worth the energy to think on. Stacie lifted a shoulder casually giving it the appropriate gesture of disinterest that was expected. There wasn’t much more to gain from digging further. Eventually Edith would wonder why she was so eager to gossip about the families. It was better to go on to something everyone knew.
“Speaking of rehab, did you know Tristaan has a new line coming out now that he’s clean and sober? He plans to call it Clarity. I saw a sneak peek of some of the pieces and they are just gorgeous. You’d just adore the mother of pearl pin collection…”
The conversation shifted easily and she spent another hour enjoying the afternoon with Edith. She kept the tone of their topics light but her mind was turning over the information she’d gleaned. Stacie was willing to bet even money that Uncle Jack and Warren Randall were in on whatever Weston was into. Whatever business they had together scared Weston, enough to demand she empty her safe, liquidate assets…it was big. Big enough to ignore Weston’s predilection to torturing and murdering women. Stacie knew there was a bigger play on the table, she could feel it even if she couldn’t see it yet. They needed more information and she knew just which card to play. She waved one last time to Edith as she slid into the backseat of the SUV.
“Home?”
She gave Happy a distracted nod that the blonde smiled at before turning to put the car in gear. “Who do we know in drugs?”
Happy’s bright eyes cut to her quickly in the rearview mirror with curiosity. She was weighing the request to see if Stacie was joking or not. After a second she gave a delicate grunt and focused on the road.
“Depends on how much of what you’re looking for.”
“Enough cocaine to make Tony Montana have a seizure.”

“We might know a guy…”
“Good. Aubrey’s going to want to talk to him.”
“I’ll make it happen, boss.”
