Reacting to Animated Marvel Shows 2/?
So should I start all of my reactions posts with clickbait now? The last one wasn't intentional, but that could be fun (just kidding). Like in this Marvel Funko Shorts episode featuring Loki, you can clearly see from the thumbnail that Loki, Ironman, and Spidey have a hot, steamy threesome!!! (They do not and I don't ship that.)
Spoilers for Marvel Funko Shorts 1x01.
I have seen some gif sets from this series and it looks cute and weird.
Oh fuck the slomo is fantastic
Loki is adorable and I think they're using his Avengers-era Funko Pop look, which I do not have but god do I want it.
My, how the turn tables, Loki
Tony, do you know how to use that thing, though?
Uh oh
Pete do YOU know how to use that
YESSSSSSSS CHICKEN BOY
TONY WOULD YOU RATHER PETER KILLED HIM CUZ I WOULDN'T AND NOT BECAUSE IT'S "NOT HEROIC"
Okay but Tony what are you gonna do
Yeah I know Peter's supposed to be all "With great power blah blah blah" but you know what sometimes with great power comes great humiliating pranks before you ship beautiful gods off to the Raft.
That was delightful
In the immortal words of Thor: ANOTHER!

(unclear if Keep Reading works on mobile w/out text first...)
♫ you're a tragedy starting to happen ♫ will be playing uninvited in my head to a backdrop of Loki 1x01 for the rest of the night
(from "Red" by Elbow, the stupidest set of words I have ever had to type to reference a gorgeous song, a song that previously was reserved for stabbing me with a hatpin in the context of the Tenth Doctor but now it does MORE!) (see edit to first post for context, mind the spoilers)

Wishlist: A Sacred Timeline Fakeout Twist
Alright, so hear me out. Mild spoilers for Loki 1x01, but mostly a speculative "this would be cool" mind game.
Currently, we're all operating under the assumption that the Time Keepers/TVA are the bad guys, and that the Sacred Timeline is our current up to date MCU canon, right. But what if that weren't necessarily as true as we think? Here is a plot twist I'd LOVE to see them do.
Because here's the thing. I already see all this time travel and multiverse talk take the focus away from our new heroes. Suddenly everything is about Steve Rogers again. And I can already smell that the bad guy TVA therefore the Sacred Timeline is bad therefore current canon is "bad" angle that some of y'all are leaning towards.
But what if both things are true - what if the Time Keepers are the bad guys and the Sacred Timeline they're controlling is the "Darkest Timeline" (Community reference ftw) - and what if the Sacred Timeline is not actually the MCU Phase 4 canon we've seen so far? Imagine we go through "Loki" and see hints of this.
Imagine if in the Sacred Timeline, Phase 3 concludes as we know it, but then we see that Wanda loses her battle against Agatha and never becomes the Scarlet Witch.
Imagine if in the Sacred Timeline, Walker kills Sam in the Warehouse Fight, just like he almost did in canon. Sam never becomes Captain America. There is only the US Agent.
Imagine if in the Sacred Timeline, Mysterio manages to kill Peter Parker. There is no Spider-Man.
Imagine if in rebelling against this idea of a pre-written destiny and a path dictated by some beings who do not allow for deviancy from the path, Loki unravels the Sacred Timeline, opening up the Multiverse - and opening up the Phase 4 canon timeline as not the only path the story could take, but the path the MCU canon follows. Imagine if Phase 4 was never the Sacred Timeline - it's the timeline allowed to exist through whatever Loki ends up doing - like maybe by swapping places with Infinity War Loki. Imagine variant Loki dying at Thanos' hands instead of Infinity War canon Loki, who then is free to roam the multiverse of his creation.
That way we get all the cakes and eat them too. We'd get Time Keepers = evil, we'd get Sacred Timeline = bullshit controlled by space lizards and their agency, we'd get chaos and freedom, AND we'd still get the Phase 4 canon so far being the "good" outcome we're rooting for, knowing there are other branches and universes that exist and are explored in content like the What If series, but not the mainline canon.

2012 LOKI HAD NO IDEA THAT HE WAS LOVED AND CHERISHED BY HIS MOTHER, FATHER AND BROTHER.
HE HAD NO IDEA.

ALL HE WANTED WAS TO BELONG.
NOW HE FINALLY GETS TO SEE THAT HIS MOTHER ALWAYS LOVES HIM
HIS FATHER ALWAYS LOVED HIM
AND THOR, HIS BROTHER, THE ONE HE WAS ALWAYS COMPARED TO, LOVED HIM AND THOUGHT THE FUCKING WORLD OF HIM.

B-15's Backstory: Incoherent Thoughts
Because I'm still not over this, and not likely to be over this any time soon. I've been sending my friend near constant stream-of-consciousness texts about this all day. Now you get to deal with it. Headcanons, theories, reactions, etc. Spoilers for Loki episode 2x05 and probably Loki: Agent of Asgard.
I'm literally just typing up my texts about B-15/Verity, so they really are incoherent/stream-of-consciousness. I'm not kidding when I say I've been thinking about her all day. I'm aware this is almost certainly just an easter egg, but my brain does not work that way when I get a hint of something I love.
She found him before Mobius did. She's been with him all along!!!
Besides Sylvie he loses her last in episode five. ;.; She finds him first in 1x01, and she's the last agent he loses in 2x05.
If Tom Hiddleston does not say "Verity" at some point in episode six I won't know what to do with myself. Then again if he does, I'm going to have to pause the episode to cry for twenty minutes.
Tumblr media
I wrote this TWO WEEKS AGO. A part of me knew.
Tumblr media
I complained about Loki not being on my birthday month for my calendar but IT'S VERITY I'M OKAY WITH IT. [The thing draped over her is a palm from Palm Sunday. It's the only place in my apartment it's able to hang.]
Oh my god if B-15 is not outright confirmed to be able to detect lies in the next episode I'm gonna ignore everything the writers try to tell me and I'm going to do a whole rewatch explicitly to catalog all of her interactions and assess if I can conclude that she has this power in the MCU. She already only needed Sylvie to tell her to her face that Sylvie didn't create C-20's memories and she believed her.
Personally I want that scene from the mid-season trailer where Loki's like "I'm a fast learner" and everyone else just takes him at his word, but then I want B-15 to be like '...This boi's acting sus.' And everyone else gets to work, and she pulls him aside and is like, "What are you up to?" And he's like, "Nothing." And she's like, "I know you're lying." Basically if someone (Loki) says something in the episode that I know as a viewer is a lie and they do a fairly decent job of acting convincing (none of this over-the-top terrible lying bullshit to really drive home to the audience that they're lying), and B-15 says the words "I know you're lying," I'm sold. I won't rewatch everything to figure it out. I'll be convinced she can detect lies.
No but Sylvie and B-15 becoming ride or die bffs, no romance, like Loki and Verity are in the comics would give me LIFE.
I've come up with another way they can imply B-15 can detect lies next episode. If at some point Loki just starts telling his friends about their lives on the timeline instead of doing the memory magic, and he turns to OB and goes, "You... are a brilliant writer." And B-15 is in the frame, and she doesn't say anything, either in that moment or as an aside to Loki, but she just twitches a little at the lie. I'll lose my fucking mind. If that and the one season one interaction with Sylvie is all we get as implicative confirmation, I'll fucking take it. My girl can detect lies. Sold. Done.
[Not really a headcanon or anything, but just to show you I'm a fool irl too] Also I came in, [my dad] said, "Hi, what's up?" And I said, "B-15 is Verity Willis." And then I grinned like a lunatic even though he has no clue who Verity is and I know he has no clue who Verity is.
We currently do not have any evidence that B-15 is not ace, so Verity is still 100% ace in the MCU, too.

Why can't I help feeling that if Mobius had shown Loki this memories he would have said Odin had died because Loki had banished him. Same about Thor. Your brother is dead and you too are dead because of Mad Titan. These memories were very well manipulated. Loki doesn't know Odin would have sentenced him to death. He doesn't know that he would stay in a cell for a year. That Frigga defend Odin's bad parenting. That Frigga died because of Aether, not Loki's words. That Thor is alive!
I completely agree with you. That is what Mobius would have done. What he did was psychological manipulation and gaslighting. He lied and explained the events in a way to break Loki's walls and make him vulnerable to accept his POV and offer. Which is actually a method of torture in interrogation that is specially used on political prisoners where I live. The part when Mobius lied that Loki was responsible for his mother's death specifically reminded me of them and made me sick to my stomach. What they do is that during many physical and psychological torture sessions they tell the prisoner who is been kept in isolation from the outside world for so long(in solitary confinement with no contact to their family), that one of their parents(usually their mother) has died as a result of their political acts of resistance and fights(because they couldn't bear so much worry and anxiety for their child in prison). This usually results in the prisoner breaking and accepting whatever they want from them and in some cases it cause them to commit suicide.
Now imagine what kind of psychological torture Loki went through by what Mobius said to him, right after his time with Thanos and his history of suicide. Which is why I'm baffled that many fans and also the creators consider it as therapeutic and what Loki "needed"! I don't expect that people be aware of this form of torture. But I thought the difference between psychological manipulation and a therapy session is obvious. Apparently not. I guess they think Loki needed that because they see him a villain who deserve this.
And don't get me start on thinking that Mobius cares about Loki, or according to creators he is inherently good! You don't constantly belittle, manipulate and insult the person you care about. Mobius is an agent specializing in catching dangerous variants. So the way he sees Loki is a tool to help to him catch this variant who is escaping TVA and for doing that he uses every way he knows like psychological manipulation and using Loki's weakness against him.
The idea that Mobius is inherently good is laughable. He is working for a fascistic/totalitarian organization that inflict its will on people, killing them(according to Miss Minutes introduction for sth as unimportant as being late for work!), doing acts of slaughter an genocide because someone dared to break the rules of their "sacred timeline"! Rules that no one knows exist in the first place! And he is OK with all of that and has the audacity to condemn Loki for his actions under mind influence and torture. And he doesn't question his ideology. Even when Loki challenges him to do so, because it gives him his glorious purpose. He is the example of every person who works in corrupted systems because it gives them some privilege and they're so lazy and inconsiderate in thinking, that they don't care how it affects the people who are suffering or being oppressed. Sure, he shows care and emotions towards some people, but selected morality is not inherent goodness. To TVA and Mobius the law breakers are not even people, they're "variants" and they don't treat the variants like beings who have right to exist and choose their own path.
In fact, Mobius and on a larger scale some of the TVA agents are the exact examples of the concept of banality of evil . That evil acts are not necessarily done by evil people. Instead, they can simply be the result of bureaucrats dutifully obeying orders. People who don't consider the consequences of their actions and don't question the propaganda and ideology they have been brainwashed with.
