I almost forgot the most exciting news of the night -- on the way back from the book sale, I got to pet a cat! There was a black cat on the sidewalk outside a house, and when I was halfway there it perked up and started trotting toward me. It was mostly intent on chomping down some lush grass, but it stopped to greet me first and let me pet it the whole time. Beautifully soft, freshly groomed.
The best part is that because it was occupied by the grass, it didn't try to follow me back to the car, AND when I did get to the car and looked back, a car had just pulled into the driveway and the cat was going up the steps and waiting for its human to let it inside, so it will be a Safe Kitty.
(P.S. When I related this to my husband, he teased me about black cats being bad luck, to which I said no! Black cats bring good luck! and then used all of my strength not to add SEE HIM FACE??) (although I WILL be showing him that video later now that I've found a working link)

le Book Sale Weekend SAGA part 3
I went to my book sales! Sale A was, shockingly, the less fruitful of the two (after ALL THAT EFFORT!) despite being at least 5x bigger, and Sale B had more books to interest me than I think EVER, at least in the last six years I've been going 2x a year (last time I literally bought four), and so OF COURSE:
a) I decided to hold out at work til 5:30 instead of 5 (everyone else worked til 6); I can zip there in 20 minutes if I book it!
b) oops there's road construction on the country route which in this case means "rough road" (from HELL), bumping along for I think 3 straight miles with no turn-offs unless you want to add at LEAST 10 mins of extra driving. Speed cut solidly in half and I'm terrified I'll find out one of the rocks nicked a tire(s).
I finally made it into the sale room at 6:05.
c) OOPS turns out the sale is ending at 7 instead of 7:30 this year! Booksalefinder was not updated to reflect this, so I found out at 6:51 when they announced they were closing and needed everyone to check out ASAP.
I spent an absurd amount of money because I had VERY scant time to review my maybe-i'll-get-it-grabs, AND I already committed to working saturday (dammit). Otherwise I would have dumped a few more and risked it on the chance they'd still be here on Saturday, but if I can't get back I want them more than not, and even if the rain holds off (with my luck it will), there's just no way I can get back now. The bag sale here has never once been a worthwhile value to me, and the ONE time it is I can't go??
(extra rude because I should be rewarded for my virtue in a) skipping a book sale entirely in March, and b) also resisting the bag sale at my local library after already shopping on Thursday 2 weeks ago)

I'm working on a final paper for my Ecological Anthropology class and I wanted to see the distribution of what people would prefer to visit.

Wednesday morning: are you kidding me with Cramp Time (and also Super Mega Exhaustion time!)
an update on my book sale plans: WHAT DO U MEAN "RAIN/STORMY WEATHER ALL WEEKEND STARTING FRIDAY."
I really don't want to go out to The Big Sale on Wednesday, I was looking forward to a Fun Friday Night time! But I even more don't want to do an extra-long drive in poor weather, especially if part is after dark, so time to get my hair washed & my route mapped & my hype up Immediately.

The daffodils have finally bloomed! Entire fields are turning yellow <3
My mum pointed out I lose interest in the humble cowslip as soon as flashier spring flowers show up and I felt a bit bad, so I picked a little bunch of cowslips to let them add their own touch of yellow to Daffodil Day, in their unassuming way.

OK, I need help working out the best way to stagger visiting two used book sales this week. This week, most supervisors are working until 5:30 or 6pm, though I can beg off as early as 4 without officially missing time.
SALE A: The Big One. 45 to 55 minute drive each way. Their estimate is 75,000 books day 1. Runs Wednesday-Saturday until 9pm (5 on the last day). Friday the books are half off (most books at the sale are $2 or $3 to start), Saturday is bag sale day.
SALE B: 20-minute drive each way. My options for going are Thursday til 7:30, or the Saturday $5/bag sale. The sale usually isn't huge and even when I go on Thursday or Friday, I have rarely found more than half a dozen books (but I have usually found at least one gem).
I'm not as concerned about Sale B, but I just can't decide on Wed. or Fri for sale A. Pro of Wednesday night is, I'm slightly less tired after 3 workdays than 5, and obviously, a better selection! Con is that I might be VERY tired next day and also not able to get to Sale B on my preferred night of Thurs.
Pros of Friday -- which is what I did last year -- include the discount and the magical energy I always seem to obtain on Fridays knowing I don't have to get up and work the next day, which means I can stay at the sale until nearly closing and not worry about not being home until 10pm.
Con of Friday is...mainly that a) if I do Sale B the night before, I might be extra-tired for the sale I really care about, BUT b) if I want to do sale B on Saturday, I'll still need to get up early in order to find SOMETHING worthwhile.
I genuinely considered putting in for a half or even whole day off for the Big Sale this year, except end of April has always, always been Overtime Crunch Time and this year is no exception. Next year I should probably reconsider.

love that my cat gets OUTRAGED and will actively scream at me if I unwrap a Kraft single without letting her sniff it.
I put a little corner on a plate for her as an offering, she won't even lick it, but she MUST partake of the smell.

important question: do u think "Bloomability" counts for the PopSugar prompt "a book with a 1-word title you had to look up in the dictionary" even though it turns out that's not a real word?
