Random bit of the love triangle ending in tears.
There was a common ground, between the differences and the fights, and it was Josh. Somehow it had always been Josh.
"I should've known there was something, that he was hiding something. All those hospital visits..."
"he looked paler than usual. I've known him for so many years, I've loved him for so long, and still I've been blind."
There was a common ground, now unsteady and slightly tilted, between grace and Lawson, and it had always been Josh. Angry, dangerous, fast Josh. Their tilting common ground laid in a sunshine smile when he looked at them. It laid in... In a hospital bed, not finding the courage to look up and meet their eyes, because he lied, and this time he lied for real.
"Joshie..." he tried to scoot away when grace sat next to him, childishly perhaps. She caressed his cheek lightly.
"bren please, look at us." Lawson stood behind her, his voice pleading as Josh did the contrary and looked away.
"it's okay, it's going to be okay."
"we can work it out. Somehow. I-- - he stammered and took a breath - I don't know how yet, but we can make it work."
"we love you Joshie. And you love us, we know that. The only issue is between the two of us, but he's right, we can work it out."
"doesn't matter." Josh said, finally turning to look at them. "I lied. I... I played with your feelings..."
"no! You always made it clear. And if I wanted us to be exclusive I should have said it years ago. You did nothing wrong Bren."
"I cheated on you. - he continued, as if Lawson didn't interrupt him. - it doesn't matter anymore. You should go."
"well, I know I don't want to go anywhere without you. Don't know about Lawson, but you're stuck with me." Grace smiled, she tried, she held his hand tighter and brought it to her lips. It usually made him crack a smile. Usually.
"I fucked up everything... I'm giving you the chance to leave before I break your heart for good, and you---"
"I loved you before I even realized what that would mean, Brendan. Didn't care you were a man, I bathed in every each and every smile. You can't tell me to leave now."
He cried, softly, tears slipping down his cheeks and grace made a quiet hushing sound.
"but I'm dying." it felt like the words weren't real, they've heard them for long moments after the ambulance rushed to the hospital, after Josh walked out of the car after yet another day, the words going back and forth between him and Lawson still replaying in his mind during the quiet travel back to hq, after he went pale, after stella yelled and Michel grabbed him as he dropped. Words didn't really settled in before.
"I am dying." he said again, more convincing, like he wanted them to believe it. "been dying for over a year."
He got his hand out of grace's grasp and looked back at the blanket of the bed.
"I don't want my last moments to break you more than I did already."
"so, you're saying that if we love you, we should just give up, leave, get put of this room and... Forget all about you?" Josh smiled, a side of his lips twitched upward for a moment.
"always the smartest, Laws." he didn't look up, he noticed him moving to the other side of the bed by the shadow moving and the shuffle of his feet on the floor. And the mattress bending when he sat down.
"i hate you. I fucking hate you so much. " he said instead taking Josh face in his hands and lifting until he was looking at him. "Gracie hates you too. We both hate you Brendan joshua. We hate you, and because of that we're not going anyway."

It had been a routine training mission. Of course, bad shit always seemed to happen on a routine training mission. That was just the way it was with Class A, and those three student specifically. Unfortunately the teams were assigned by lots, so there wasn't much they could do about it.
Mostly, it was just patrols. They would go around, make sure people felt safe, stop any small crimes they saw, that sort of thing. A supervising teacher would watch their backs, but would mostly stay out of sight. They got Aizawa, of course, since they were the problem students.
Not that Katsuki had seen him. He was pretty sure Deku had, once or twice, but the damn nerd was busying doing his smiley bullshit. Probably for the best. Out of the three of them, he was the most personable. Definitely the 'face' of their group.
Which was probably why Katsuki was the first to notice the person pointing a finger-gun and Todoroki. What the fuck is that guy doing? He got a bad feeling about that, and quickly moved to grab Todoroki's arm. "Hey, Icyhot, something's-"
His warning was cut off by a loud crack that echoed through the area, like a real gunshot going off, before everything went dark.
It had been supposed to be a normal day, nothing too out of the ordinary, they had chased after some kind of small time criminal and for some reason things didn't go as planned, at all. At first everything was very routinized until they ended up in that side alley after having lost the tracks of that damn guy, suddenly he was gone.
Todoroki wasn't too fazed by it at first. Turning when he heard Bakugo call out to him all out of the sudden, assuming that he had found a clue or something but when his eyes met carmine ones, it was already too late.
He didn't quite know how or what exactly had happened, he felt like falling or maybe floating and when he manged to open his eyes again everything was dark. How did it already turn dark? They had been on patrol before so what had happened that he missed the rest of the day? No, something was wrong. He groaned softly, but no sound made it past his lips, confused he looked around, finding himself standing- where was he? Something about this place seemed oddly familiar, trustworthy even and something-
He didn't even finish that thought before he noticed it. Eyes dropping to the ground- Water? Barely covering the ground. No. It wasn't water.. it wasn't wet? He bend down to touch it and when his fingertip breached the surface a surge of anxiety washed over him and just as suddenly the substance had swallowed his ankles.
Todoroki took a couple steps backwards, but each time he lifted his foot it pearled off immediately, not leaving anything behind, like it wasn't even touching him. Like he wasn't even there. Where was he.. what happened and.. with a splash against his knees he had sunken deeper, heart hammering away in his chest. Looking around there was no land, no shore, nothing else, he couldn't even say if there was anything but whatever as far as his eyes could see. He wanted to scream but no voice was to be found. He wanted to see but no light allowed him to, he wanted to run but the more violently he went into one direction the more his limbs hurt from the exhaustion, muscles burning under the pressure.
He tried to go further to no avail, no matter where he turned there was just the vast nothingness to be seen, breath now coming in muted desperate rasps, forcing him to an urgent halt. What was happening?! Why couldn't he see, why was he trapped here? Where was he supposed to go. Where was Midoriya? Bakugo?
Where did they go?
