Mouse Trap Mayhem
Loki x teen female borrower
Synopsis: Borrower Y/N gets caught in a mousetrap while trying to get food from the Stark Tower kitchen. What will happen when Loki catches her?
Warnings: this is my first g/t story so it could suck but otherwise nothing i think?? Reader injury (Broken leg, hurt shoulder)
Tumblr media
The shock was utterly devastating. The pain was unimaginable. Y/N had no idea how she had ended up in this situation. She had taken the same path to the kitchen that she took almost every week. Only this time, there was an impediment.
She must have started taking too much food, the humans must have started to notice the crumbs and leftovers that she had been squirreling away. Of course they didn’t know what was really taking their food, so they went with the first conclusion that occurred to them. A mouse. And they had set mouse traps.
Y/N had no idea how she hadn’t seen the trap, but she was so focused on making sure that the kitchen was empty that she hadn’t been watching her step. Her job as borrower was so much harder than most, because there were so many humans living in the tower, each with a different schedule.
That wasn’t the problem right now, however. Her problem now was getting free of this mousetrap and finding a way to hide before a human decided to check the trap. Not an easy feat considering the weight of the trap, and the fact that it had probably broken her leg.
Y/N pushed with all her might, but could barely get the trap to budge. She became frantic, however, when she heard footsteps enter the kitchen.
In her panic, she finally managed to lift the trap enough so that the weight wasn’t holding her leg down, but when she tried to move her leg out from under the trap, the pain in her leg all but doubled, and the shock of the pain caused her to lose her grip on the trap. It slammed back down on her leg and she couldn’t stifle the cry of pain that squeezed past her lips.
The footsteps stopped abruptly. Y/N held her breath. Surely the human hadn’t heard that…right?
“What was that?” A man’s voice. British, deep. Scary. Y/N’s hands started to shake, but still she didn’t dare move. She saw a flash of green pass the counter in front of her, and by the time she blinked, it was replaced by a giant head. The urge to scream was overwhelming, but Y/N suppressed most of it, so that only a whimper came out as she began again to struggle against the mousetrap pinning her in place.
The giant in front of her grinned, revealing teeth the size of her whole hand.
“I told those idiots it wasn’t a mouse,” the man breathed. Then everything got ten times worse. The man’s hand, large enough to squash her easily, came at her and snatched up the mouse trap. She was now dangling upside-down above the countertop while the man—she believed this was the one the other humans called Loki—inspected her carefully. “You’re the one who’s been stealing food, eh?”
Y/N shook her head. She was so scared she didn’t know what to do.
Loki’s features twisted into a scowl. “I don’t like liars, small one.”
Y/N whimpered. What was she supposed to do? What would he do? Was he going to hurt her, eat her, keep her as a pet?
“I suppose I should let the others know I’ve caught our thief,” Loki muttered, conjuring a jar out of thin air. Y/N started struggling harder, pulling at the mousetrap with all her might. She did not like jars. “Now now, stay still little thing.” Loki’s voice came out as a growl, and Y/N shuddered, her fear freezing her joints. Would he hurt her more if she didn’t listen? There was no way to know.
Loki used his huge finger to pull on the mousetrap, and the weight on her leg went away instantly, and she was falling.
Falling right into the jar.
She hit the hard glass bottom shoulder first, and a yelp escaped her as pain shot through her arm. She quickly sat up and leaned her tired, beat up frame against the wall of the jar, her eyes wide and her whole body shaking as she stared through the glass at the giant peering at her.
“Such a strange little thing,” Loki muttered, turning the jar to get a better look. Y/N whimpered as her whole world tilted back and forth, Loki’s face taking up her whole field of vision. “Maybe I should take you to my quarters and get a better look at you before those idiot scientists have all the fun.”
Those words scared her more than anything that had happened thus far. The scientists. Bruce and Tony. She had known they were scientists, but her pain had been a rather distracting companion, and she hadn’t had time to think about it. If Loki handed her over to scientists…
She hadn’t even realized that she started crying until she felt the warm, wet liquid spill into her lips and past her chin, soaking her shirt. Y/N pulled her good leg up to her chest, hugging it and burying her face in it as her shoulders began to shake with sobs. This was it, her life as she knew it was over. She was going to be locked in this jar forever, studied and experimented on by scientists, poked and prodded by nosy humans.
Y/N cried out in surprise as she began to get bumped around, her shoulder slamming into the side of the jar. Loki was walking, his hand gripping her enclosure tightly as he made his way to his room. When he arrived, he tilted the jar, and Y/N slipped out and fell onto his desk with a cry of pain as she landed on her hurt leg and fell into a crumpled heap.
Was this gonna be her life now? Going from one pain to the next?
Y/N wasn’t sure how long she could take it.
Loki was quite enjoying himself. First, he was proven right about the intruder not being a mouse.
“How could a mouse open the loaf of bread without chewing through the plastic?”
“Maybe you left it open.”
“I. Did. Not.”
It was a small victory to say the least, but he didn’t get many small victories these days, living with those insufferable Avengers. Maybe this discovery would knock down Stark a few pegs. He wasn’t always right.
But first, Loki wanted to get a better look at his little discovery. He had read about tiny humans in an Asguardian book once, but he never quite knew whether to believe the story or not. Now he had proof.
Loki was slightly perplexed with this creature, however. When in the mouse trap, the little thing had been absolutely feral in its attempts for freedom. Now however, free from both the mousetrap and the jar, it just lay in a heap, barely moving. Maybe it was playing dead. Or maybe it just wasn’t a very intelligent creature. It could be that it was more animal than human, even though it appeared human.
Loki leaned down to get a closer look, before prodding the figure with his index finger. The little thing flinched, and Loki heard a barely-audible whimper. He frowned. Surely that little prodding hadn’t hurt, right? Loki gently pinched the little thing’s shoulder, and positioned its body so that it was laying face-up on his desk. He felt the thing shuddering and trembling under his touch, and its eyes were open wide. It was terrified.
And it wasn’t an it. Now that Loki had a good look at the thing, it looked like a girl. Not just a girl, a young girl. Probably barely a teenager.
And now Loki also saw why she hadn’t tried to run. Her right leg was twisted at an ever-so-slightly strange angle. Probably because of the mousetrap.
A toxic mixture of guilt and pity swirled in Loki’s stomach. The poor little thing was injured, and he had scared her.
The pity wasn’t quite strong enough to overcome his curiosity, however.
“What’s your name?” He asked, feeling silly. What if this thing couldn’t even talk? He still wasn’t sure if it was intelligent, or just some animal with human characteristics.
The little thing slowly sat up, and appeared to be trying to inch slowly away from him. He frowned and planted his hand behind her back, halting her movements. The girl whimpered yet again, and she was still shaking.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” Loki hesitated. “At least…not if you do as your told.” He didn’t intend to hurt the girl, it seemed pitiful to hurt something so pathetic. But perhaps, if she was intelligent, a little fear would keep her honest.
A mutter escaped the girl’s lips, but Loki couldn’t hear it.
“Speak up,” he barked, and he almost winced when he felt the child flinch.
“My name—my name is—is Y/N,” She called out in a shaky voice. “Please—please don’t hurt me.” She added in a whimper.
Loki pretended to think it over. “Well…you have been stealing from us…” he trailed off. Perhaps he was going a little far, but the little girl was so easy to scare.
He hadn’t expected her to burst into sobs.
“Please, please I’ll do anything, don’t hurt me!”
Loki wasn’t sure what to do now. He could feel the girl’s small frame convulsing with sobs, her whole body shuddering. She was a wreck.
And he had caused it.
His amusement at her fear had long faded. What had this little one been through that made her so truly, deeply terrified? Had a human hurt her in the past? Or were tiny little things like her just taught at a young age that all humans had bad intentions?
“Please don’t hurt me again, don’t give me to the scientists, please!”
Again?
Then Loki realized. It wasn’t some kind of past trauma or scary story that made this child terrified. It was him.
He had held her upside down, dropped her in a jar, threatened to hurt her, poked and prodded her, and talked of handing her off to scientists to be studied. Of course she was terrified!
Then another thought occurred to him. The little thing was probably still in immense pain; her leg was broken, after all. And now that Loki thought about it, that long fall into the glass jar probably hadn’t felt very pleasant, either.
“Oh, little one…” Loki’s voice was soft now, apologetic. The little girl glanced up at him, and he winced when he saw her red, puffy eyes staring fearfully up at him. “I…I won’t hurt you, I promise.”
Loki scooped the girl up in his palm, and began using his magic to heal her leg.
The girl cried out in pain at first, but when she saw her leg return to a normal angle, and slowly felt the pain dissipate, she stared in awe at Loki.
“Does it hurt anywhere else?” He asked softly. She seemed hesitant to respond, but eventually she pointed to her shoulder. “May I?”
She nodded, and Loki gently touched the tip of his finger to the girl’s shoulder. Green wisps swirled around the spot, and Loki saw the girl’s face relax quickly from it’s previously-pained expression.
“Why are you helping me?” Y/N breathed out.
“It’s what I should have done from the start. Forgive me, I became caught up in my selfishness and my curiosity. I would never hurt you, I swear.”
“Please don’t give me to the scientists,” the little one whimpered.
“I won’t, I won’t little one, I promise.”
The little child stared up at him. “What happens now?”
Loki was suddenly nervous. “I…I suppose I could take you home…if you’d like. And if…if you don’t hate me…maybe you could come and visit me sometime.”
Y/N seemed to be thinking it over rather seriously. “No more jars?”
Loki smiled slightly. “None, I swear. I could even help you out with getting better food around here, if you’d allow me.”
A tiny smile played across the girl’s face.
“I think that would be alright.”

if your still doing the prompt asks can u do 27 🥺
i have no special request for it so u can come up with anything.
Been a long time since I’ve done asks. Hope you enjoy !
Y/n scurried over to Loki’s phone. He’d dropped it on the floor on accident, and Y/n could think of no better time than to photobomb.
She leaned her head over the camera while Lokis huge form took up the rest.
She snapped the photo as soon as his fingers closed around the small cellular device.
“Blasted things… Norns…” Loki huffed as he gently nudged Y/n from the phone screen into his hand as he lifted it.
“I was merely trying to text and-“ Loki stopped mid-sentence.
“Is that what I look like to you?” He suddenly asked. He was staring at his phone, a look of concern written over his face.
Y/n leaned in as if she could fully see the huge screen. She saw her smiling face but in the back there was Loki. A normal sight for her but apparently it had taken Loki off guard.
“Well I guess…” She hesitantly says.
Loki sputters his words, “I’m huge.” He blurts.
Y/n giggles.
Loki doesn’t see what’s funny apparently as his face scrunches up. Y/n rolls her eyes.
“I’m used to it Lokes. That’s what you look like to me. Okay?” She says.
A moment passes.
“What do I look like to you?” Her voice peaks with curiosity.
Loki smirks. Before she can figure out what’s going on in that tricky head of his, she’s stumbling on the floor leaning up against the toe of his boot.
Loki unfolds his body and raises the phone so that it’s right where his eye level is.
He pauses before kneeling to lay down on his stomach. Y/n comes to stand next to his hand as he holds out the phone where they can both see.
“What’s this?” She asks craning her head to look up at his face.
“Just look.” Loki urges
She huffs and leans in closer. Making out Lokis long legs she follows them all the way down until she can see the floor. But there’s something standing next to his foot. With a jolt of surprise she realizes the little speck is her.
“T-that’s what I look like to you?” She asks spinning around to look at Loki.
He clicks off his phone and lays it down, resting his chin on his hands.
“I’m used to it y/n. That’s what you look like to me.” He teases her with her own words from earlier.
“Nuh uh… there’s no way I can be that small.” She argues climbing onto his hand.
“To the contrary you’re extremely tiny, unless I had some sort of growth spurt.”
Y/n crosses her arms and begins to try and climb back down his hand. He’s being annoying.
“Where are we off to now? More pictures?” He uses his other hand to block her.
“You’re annoying.” She says glaring up at him trying to look intimidating but by the way Lokis looking at her she can tell that’s the one thing she doesn’t look like.
“I believe you meant to say charming.”

Bad aim
‘Ok, Y/n, you better keep an eye on him’ Tony said when he left in the morning, they weren't going to be alone, but there was really no one in the tower who trusted Loki except for you, hence the constant threats and warnings.
Not that he really did anything, aside from the 2012 incident, but his giant appearance grew a concerning amount of uncertainty and contempt among the Avengers, except for Bruce, who more or less felt comfortable with someone similar to him, or at least the Hulk did, oddly enough.
Loki always stayed away from you, at least in public due to his fear that you would be punished for a mistake he might make. Then, only when he made sure that no one was around, would he take you and hold you against his chest, or his arms, or even nest you in the crook of his neck, just so he could feel your warmth and pamper you the way you deserve.
Of course, you already had your feelings towards Loki assumed, and after all the times that he had saved you in the past, it was more than clear that you could trust your life and your heart in his hands.
And he just knew that he could do the same with you. When he was under the influence of Thanos, during the battle of New York, you were the one who woke him out of the trance and come to his senses. You were the one who defended him against his own family, you fiercely faced his father and the Allfather, how could he not fall on his knees for you?
The team was supposed to go away for a week or so, that gave Loki an idea.
"Y/n" he called, and watched you rise your head from his side to look at him, "Yes? What is it?" You said ever so sweetly, "Would you like to make a trip with me to Jotunheim? I want to present you to my father officially" his voice was soft and bashful, your smile and excitement made his heart skip a beat, and he watched you as you jumped to hug his neck.
"Omg yes!" He grabbed your waist to secure you on his body as he proceeded to embrace you, carefully so his strength didn't crush you.
"Fantastic, then we better pack, sweet kitten" that pet name he got you was because of your cute reactions to his touch, how you leaned against him whenever he reached to cup your body on his palms, how you stretched when you were sleepy, and for how you sleep, just like a cat.
He ran his hand down your back to settle on your hip, while the fingers of his free hand brought your face closer to his, guiding you by your chin.
From your perspective, he had such a loving gaze, but for Clint, who had just finished recovering from the effects of the mind stone, he just saw the monster that played with his mind to do unspeakable things.
So his next action was more than unorthodox, but it made sense to him in his confused mind, and because Loki's features still played havoc with his memory. As soon as Loki left, he ran after you and covered your mouth with a damp cloth, for you everything went dark.
All you knew was that you were in a room, it looked homey, like one of those houses you go to retire to when you get old, the one with a view of the lake. And he was disconcerting to see drawings on the wall, clearly made by a child, "Where the fuck am I?" you murmured to yourself as you took your back off the mattress, careful because your heart was pounding and the vibrations didn't help the headache.
"You up, hungry?" You looked toward the door as soon as you heard the squeak of the hinges, the face of contempt, confusion and anger you had could not be taken away, not even by the cinnamon roll that is your boyfriend.
“What the fuck Barton?” even though you and him were well aware of how much strength you harness, you acknowledge his possible brain damage and panic form what he experienced, so you decided to go easy on him.
"I don't know what Loki told you or did to you, but one way or another, I'm going to set you free from his grasp" he sounded so weird, he was sweating like crazy, and his eyes weren't the same.
"Clint relax, Loki has changed, he's not the same you've met, let me show you" you tried to reach him but there was something holding your legs back, around your thighs and ankles there were shackles with chains bolted to the wall behind you.
"Clint, you did not" he watched you with a sorrowful look,
Clint didn't wanted to hurt you, but he was convinced that Loki had brainwashed you into worshiping him, and he was telling you that. Every time it became more difficult to fight against the chains, they were tightening more against your skin.
You knew that if they left marks Loki would go crazy, you had to go back to the tower before Loki realized you were gone. He may act like he has changed, because he really did, but that didn't take away from the fact that his love for you often pushed him to do the wrong things. Like for example hurting people.
When Loki arrived to Clint's shack, using both his seiðr and Tony's help, he teleported him back to the tower just for that.
"Loki wait!" Tony shouted but before he could listen or even acknowledge him talking to him, he busted inside the house, only to reach the room's door and finding you with chains on your body, your cheeks red and Clint's hand in the air.
Your eyes were puffy and reddened, your hands were clinging to Clint's shirt when he froze, "Loki!" You gasped with a smile, your eyes releasing all the tears.
Loki pushed Clint out of the way and against the wall while he took you against his chest with his other arm. "You...you dared to do this to my queen, I should tear you apart, bastard mortal!" Loki pressed Clint further against the wall.
"She's not yours, you did something to her, I know it!" He breathed, digging his nails in Loki's forearm, not making him even flinch.
"You deranged insolent fool, now you are going to start begging" he wanted to use his arm to hit him, but when he heard a sob come out of you, he froze and took a deep breath that made you flinch against his side.
"If you get a little closer to her, you will realize how compassionate I was with you, mortal, undoing your mind was the least I could do to you” his venomous words made Clint shiver, his crimson eyes making his mind to go straight to the time he was under his control.
Your grip tightened, which made Loki react, he sent Tony back to the mission and he teleported with you back to the dormitory that you and he shared in the tower.
"My love, are you okay? Are you hurt? Please my love, tell me something" he was desperate. He used his magic to have a body size proportional to yours just so he didn't have to hold back so much in terms of physical contact, so he ran his hands over your shoulders, then scanning your arms, the sides of your hips, until he reached the marks in your legs.
In your nervousness, you took his hands in yours, and from that height, because to see those marks he had to go down on one knee. He looked up to you, and then he saw it. You were trembling, your gaze was diverted from his, terrified you stopped his hands so that he would not touch the burns that the steel had caused. You knew his nature was violent, but you've never seen him this angry.
Loki's heart sank into his chest, guilt and remorse washed over him, so he clung to your legs, lowering his head to place it between your knees. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry my love, I should have saved you sooner" you stroked his hair, now breathing a little better, "It's not that, you just ... scared me".
He raised his head quickly, right after you stammered, his eyes full of panic. "My love, I ... I'm sorry, I overcame myself, I was very angry about how that idiot treated you, that blinded me" tears ran down his cheeks, “It’s ok my love, really, it was just a scare, you did the right thing by not killing him, for that thank you” you bent down and kissed his forehead.
“Y/n” he called you as he rose up from the floor, pressing his lips to your clothed stomach, then your collarbone, and he rested his face on yours, both or your noses touching and your lips ghosting each other. “Y/n I’m sorry, I’ll never do it again” he caressed you hair with one hand and hold your waist with the other, your hands imitated his and cupped the sides of his face.
"Just don't do it while I'm there, we're cool my love", he took you in his arms and took you to bed, in his hands an aloe vera-based lotion appeared that he then spread and massaged over the marks on your legs and the bruise growing on your cheek.
He planned to stay up all night taking care of your wounds, but you needed emotional care, so using his seiðr Loki dressed you both in comfortable pajamas and settled with you between the sheets, making sure you felt comfortable and loved.
"I love you Loki, it was just a scare, don't worry about that anymore" you filled his face with short kisses, hugging his neck as he secured your body over his. She had run out of a shirt since you liked feeling his warmth and he loved the little patterns you drew on his chest.
“I love you too, Y/n” he murmured capturing your lips on his.
So that’s how you spent the night, with him showering you with love and soft caresses, then in the morning Loki took you to Jotunheim, and you had the best week ever.

Tumblr media
Being Loki’s partner is not always easy.
Now, don’t get me wrong, loving Loki is nothing short of a magical experience. When you’re together is when you’re both happiest, it feels as if the stars align and a pleasant sense of peace settles over your conscious like morning fog.
Though, admittedly, loving him can be a bit dangerous. It’s electric. He fills you with energy and passion and power, yet if you’re not careful, you’ll get shocked.
Luckily, Loki is well-aware that he has some work to do when it comes to navigating his thoughts and feelings. While he may be proud and reluctant to admit his issues, he does force himself to do some inner-work for your sake.
He’s incredibly thoughtful when he wants to be. In the beginning of your relationship, it was easy for him to focus on himself. He’s a survivor and a schemer, he weighs his options and picks whichever benefits him the most.
However, as your relationship progresses, he learns to be more selfless. He eventually realizes that he’s happiest when you’re happiest. And over time, he switches his mentality from “how can I benefit from this?” to “how can we benefit from this?” You’re a team, in his mind. One cannot fail without everyone failing, and one cannot succeed without everyone succeeding.
He found that caring for others, specifically you, gets easier the more he does it. The more natural it becomes. He observes. He learns. And he forms habits.
After a particularly cold date involving an unanticipated rainstorm and only one available jacket, he always carries a spare sweater or coat with him, whether it be his or one of yours that he stole borrowed from your closet. And yes, he was a little too proud of himself the first time you needed the emergency sweater (definitely referred to himself as “insightful” and “genius” the rest of the day).
The ocean will dry up before there is a shortage of blankets at your house. He knows that he runs more than slightly cold, and he will not have you suffer from the fact. Heavy blankets for winter, fluffy blankets for autumn, light blankets for summer, knitted blankets for spring— this man could probably open up a blanket shop if he wanted to (he doesn’t, you made that joke already).
He has the smallest tendency to doubt himself. And by that I mean he is filled with self-doubt and insecurity about half the time. Not necessarily with day-to-day things. He knows that he can do chores, drive a car (barely but you’d never tell him that, you’d rather just insist on driving), charm just about anything that breathes, and summon anything he desires in a blink of an eye. But the small yet important things are what get the best of him. He worries you’ll find him to be too much work for what he’s worth. He stays up late at night, sure that one day he’ll step too far over the line. He’s nearly certain that you’ll eventually see through all his bells and whistles, and realize that he’s really not as magnificent as you had originally thought him to be.
Though, much to his fortune, you see through his bullshit. You know that he’s secretly insecure about your relationship and a lot of his qualities. And he’s forever grateful that you’re willing to look past his flaws and still love him. Or, in the very least, tolerate him.
Adjusting to life on Earth does spark a bit of an identity crisis within him. His life of luxury and royal privilege is gone. Though on the bright side, so is his life of torture and misery.
But nevertheless, he does find himself struggling to identify with the parts of himself that he was once so sure of.
He cuts his hair short and then grows it out. Changes his fashion tastes, changes the way he parts his hair, changes the literature he reads.
The changes don’t bother you, in fact you’re glad he’s finding healthy ways to adjust to this major lifestyle change.
At one point, Loki even changed his physical form. For a few weeks, he allowed himself to grow comfortable in his skin as a frost giant. While he didn’t feel entirely himself in this form, he was glad that after a few weeks the anxiety around it faded.
After trying out his form as a frost giant, Loki morphed into female form. While Loki was initially worried to see how you’d react to this change, she was pleased to find that you were happy as long as she was happy. For a few months, Loki remained in female form but ultimately reverted back to male form. Though on occasion he finds himself switching between the two.
He tends to be clingy. He likes to be touching you or have you touching him, though he enjoys when you’re both touching each other at the same time best. He likes it when you lay on top of him with your head on his chest, he likes to feel your heart beating against him. If you play with his hair, he’ll melt. He prefers keeping it long so you’ll braid it— he acts like he doesn’t enjoy you braiding his hair, but you know he does.
Kiss him on the tip of his nose. I dare you. He will turn dark pink before you even pull away.
He will never turn down the opportunity to hold you in his arms. He will kiss the top of your head if he can reach, and if he can’t, he’ll grow a few inches so that he can.
He enjoys cooking for you. There’s just something so simple yet domestic about cooking you something yummy. He’ll attempt to make all your favorite dishes and follow all of your dietary needs. No meat? No problem. No gluten? He’s got you covered. No dairy? He wouldn’t even think about adding some milk or throwing in some cheese as a harmless prank.
Which brings me to an important note: do not prank this man. He will take it personally. And he will not stop until he gets even with you and then some. Petty pranks don’t work on him either. Baby powder in the hair dryer is obvious and he’ll just point the dryer in your direction.
If he’s sick, good luck. You thought a god like him would be above a common cold. You were wrong. He gets super clingy, super whiny, super needy, and kinda turns into a dick. He needs to be spoiled. You need to treat him like he’s dying and these are his last days. If you try to pull “I can’t kiss you, I’ll get sick”— good luck with trying to get him to stop pouting. Don’t say I didn’t warn you (definitely push multivitamins on him for your sake).
He takes the longest in the bathroom when he’s getting ready. Which is ridiculous because he can simply poof! himself into an image of perfection. You’re starting to think he enjoys how irritated you get when he makes you late.
Also, warning! He’s an attention whore, to simply put it. He likes the spotlight, especially when it’s your spotlight. Shower him with affection please, it’s the only way he’ll ever shut his mouth. He’s not scared of causing a scene if it means he gets to spend some more quality time with you. It’s cute but you hate it.
I don’t make the rules, but Loki definitely shaves his legs in the shower because he likes how smooth they are. If you don’t like it, stay mad about it.
While Loki is fancy as fuck, he does love the outdoors. Earth is a beautiful planet, even if he is reluctant to admit it. He loves nature, specifically green forests, sandy beaches, and wild animals.
Side note: never take this man to the zoo. You thought he’d enjoy it because of his love of animals. He ended up freeing about half the animals in the zoo and breaking into about a dozen of the enclosures.
He does not understand the internet at all. Memes? Yeah, not his cup of tea. Though there has been a handful of times you’ve found him smirking over some internet articles, only to find that he enjoys reading insane “Florida man” stories. And he’s also not above arguing with people on Facebook and Twitter. Be careful though because he will throw his iPad across the room and throw a temper tantrum over some “abstract imbeciles.”
He loves dancing. He loves dancing with you even more. He’s got some pretty good ballroom dancing moves but he’s a little clueless when it comes to hip-hop.
Very protective over you. Almost to a dangerous extent. Definitely the type that’s ready to throw down with the first person that looks at you funny. If you get catcalled, hold this motherfucker back because he’s already got a knife in his hand.
Surprisingly, he likes kids. He’s not particularly sure if he wants to have children himself, but it’s definitely a conversation he’s interested in having with you in the future. If you’re against having children, he’s unbothered. If you’re interested in adding members to your family of two in the future, he’s ready whenever you are.
He’s not a huge fan of pets. Though if you already have a pet when you meet or get a pet as a surprise while you’re together, he’s not too bothered by their existence. Definitely gets jealous of the attention your pet receives though. He fits the role of “I did not want this animal but, for some reason, it loves me the most which means I will kill anyone that dares to hurt it.” You tease him when you catch him playing with the pet he didn’t want.
Also, Loki’s a lightweight. Which you find hilarious, because it is funny even if he pouts every time you tease him. He gets incredibly rowdy when he drinks, expect singing, dancing, and broken glasses. He also gets very touchy so don’t be afraid to bop him on the nose if he’s doing too much.
It takes a few years of Loki exploring Earth’s culture before he grows comfortable with the idea of smoking marijuana. But once you explain to him that it’s perfectly safe and that you’ll be by his side the whole time, he’s open to trying it. When Loki is high, expect lots of flirting, lots of touching, and lots of giggling. Don’t even bother playing a stupid comedy movies because he won’t watch it. He wants to spend this high cuddling you and discussing bizarre subjects. Pray this man doesn’t get the munchies because he’ll clear out your whole kitchen. Keep water on hand because he will definitely complain incessantly if he experiences cotton mouth. But if he’s lucky enough to not have an abnormally dry mouth, he would definitely encourage a lazy make out session.
He will definitely come up with a number of super creative terms of endearment for you, but some of his more generic favorites are sweetheart, darling, dear, and love.
Please please please make fun of his Asgardian accent. Mock him, dress up as him and run around the house pretending to be him. Please!!
He also has a thing for you wearing his clothes. I won’t go in depth (unless you want me to) but it does things to him.
You bought him a multi-color beanie with a pom pom sewn to the top of it. You were able to trick him into wearing it once (you told him it was peak Midgard fashion) but Stark ruined it. If you wear this beanie it will still do things to him.
Please let this man style your hair, or at the very least let him wash it when you shower together. But if you let him style it, he’ll get all giddy. You’ve caught him practicing his braiding technique multiple times.
He will want to spoil you. He doesn’t really understand money, and he definitely doesn’t understand what a budget is. But if he sees something that makes him think of you, he’ll buy it. Maybe even buy several of the same item. Please let him shower you with gifts, it’s one of his love languages.
His other love languages? I’m gonna have to go with all. Definitely a sucker for physical affection, but also won’t turn down a genuine act of service or quality time. Also compliment him. Like, a lot.

Read on AO3
Loki observed you with a raised eyebrow as you returned both the psychic paper and the sonic screwdriver to the Doctors jacket pocket.
“Did you steal those?” Loki gasped, although you could tell from how exaggerated it was that his shocked reaction was playful.
“Borrowed.” You corrected him with a shrug.
“Where is your auntie and the Doctor? Did you... did you pilot the TARDIS yourself?” Now Loki looked genuinely amazed. “How were you able to track me down so quickly?”
“I connected my consciousness to the TARDIS through the telepathic interface and thought about you a lot and she brought me straight to you...” You affectionately patted at the console like you would a pet. “She’s smart.”
But Loki noticed the way your brows pinched together and your eyelids lowered over your eyes as your affectionate patting of the console switched into more of a nervous movement, you were far too interested in tracing the intricate lines which ran between the different toggles and buttons. Loki reached his own hand out to cover yours, to pull your focus back into the moment.
“What is it?” He gently nudged you.
“Donna and the Doctor... they found out about New York... about you. I tried to tell them that you weren’t in control... I think the Doctor understood... but Donna... she thinks you made the whole thing up... that you can’t be trusted.” The entire time you spoke, you avoided Loki’s eyes as you kept your gaze focused on your interlocked hands hoping he wouldn’t pull his away.
“And what do you think?” Loki asked as he brushed his thumb along the back of your knuckles.
“I trust you... does that make me a fool?” You finally looked into Loki’s eyes, wanting to hold contact as he answered to search for any traces of dishonesty.
“Yes,” Loki nodded and your face dropped as your eyes slightly inflated, “if you were anyone else,” he added as he caressed your jaw with his palm. “I don’t know what I have done to earn your trust but it is something that I would never wish to destroy.”
You leaned your face into his palm with a slight blush as you let your eyes fall shut, you planted a lingering kiss on the back of his wrist. “You had me for a second there.”
“Twice in one day.” Loki proudly smirked.
“Hmm... Moby tho?” You lifted a judgemental eyebrow, recalling your encounter in the Judge’s office, and his face twisted with a cringe.
“Not my finest moment, I’ll admit.” He chuckled at himself slightly before he began walking backwards, pulling you along with him by your hand. “I have something which I would like to show you.” He told you to ease away the confused crease between your brows.
Loki quietly guided you through the corridors of the TARDIS, since neither of you wanted to deal with a confrontation from your auntie just yet, you had came to an unspoken agreement that you would avoid her for now.
“After the Dark Ages... when I...” Loki began, keeping his voice low.
“Avoided me for three days?” You finished for him and Loki shamefully avoided your eyes as he nodded.
“I explored the depths of the TARDIS,” he softly explained after letting a moment of silence wash over the both of you, “and I found a room, which I imagined sharing with you whenever I visited it.”
By the time he was finished speaking he had halted in front of a sealed door and was grasping both your hands in his own, he let his hands stroke up both your arms, until they eventually reached your shoulders and he manoeuvred you so that your back was facing his front.
Loki brought his hands up to your face and used them to cover both your eyes, plunging you into darkness. He felt your eyelashes brush against his palms as you slowly blinked.
“Do you still trust me?” You felt his breath fan over the shell of your ear from his close proximity.
“I do.” You confirmed without hesitation.
You heard the sound of the sealed metal door slide open before Loki guided you forward, your footing was clumsy due to your lack of sight but Loki made sure to keep a slow and steady pace as he walked you into the room.
You startled slightly once you heard the door seal back shut behind you and Loki soothed you with a gentle shush in your ear before he brought you to a stop.
“Ready?” Loki whispered and you nodded before he removed his hands from your face and rested them back on your shoulders.
Once you blinked your eyes open your breath caught in your throat at the marvellous sight before you. Loki had stood you in the centre of a dome observatory. Beyond the glass panels above you, every colour your eye could see twirled and intertwined, both spiralling and colliding with one another while mimicking the shape of clouds, amongst glimmering Swarovski crystal stars which provided you with the only source of light as they shone down on the pair of you like a mirror ball. The floor of the observatory perfectly mirrored the scenery above, creating the illusion that you were completely submerged in the depths of space, floating between colliding galaxies.
The stars reflected in your dilated pupils as your eyes stretched wide with amazement and your jaw dropped as you failed to conjure any words which would come close to justifying how captivated you were by the wonder before you.
Loki circled you until he was stood before you and you reluctantly pulled your focus away from the stars to instead admire them as they floated in the reflection of his eyes.
“This morning you asked me something...” Loki began as he held both your hands in his, “you asked to know what I really looked like and I didn’t understand why you would ever wish to see that part of me. It isn’t something which I have ever fully accepted about myself, but it is a part of me no matter whether I like it or not and as your beloved it isn’t right that I hide parts of myself from you, especially since I have gained your trust, you deserve full openness and honesty.”
“Loki, if you’re not comfortable... I don’t want you to feel forced into revealing your true form to me. I was wrong to pressure you and I should have respected your boundaries.” You admitted making sure that he was sure about his choice.
“I don’t want to hide anything from you, I’m certain.” Loki assured you before he planted a kiss on your forehead and began backing away, you stepped forward to follow him but he gave you a stern look which told you to remain where you were as he widened the distance between the pair of you.
Loki closed his eyes and you expected to see the green shimmer wash over his body to reveal his true form but instead a darker shade began to spread over his skin, at first you thought it was a shadow as it creeped over half his face until it began to cover every inch of his skin.
Once his entire face turned a cold shade of deep blue, the purples, pinks, reds and greens of the galaxies above reflected off the high points of his face, giving his skin different hues. His cheekbones glowed with a hint of purple, while the bottom of his forehead reflected the green glow, which combined with his skin tone, created a cyan highlight over the top of his eyes, which were still hidden behind his lowered eyelids.
Markings rose over his face in the shape of fine lines, three of them ran across the side of each cheek just beneath his high cheekbones and another set ran down the front of his chin, while on his forehead three lines ran parallel in the shape of a semicircle which disappeared into his hairline.
You looked down to his hands, noticing the blue tone had spread over them by now and just like on his face, thin lines rose across the back of his hands and fingers and his fingernails turned black.
You chanced taking a step forward but Loki finally lifted his eyes, revealing a pair of crimson irises, and fixed you with a warning look that told you not to come any closer.
“Loki, what is it?” You could sense there was a reason he was maintaining his distance and you doubted he was just hoping that you were short sighted so you wouldn’t be able to see him properly from far away.
“I have never been touched or touched anyone in this form. When I went to Jotunhiem with my brother, the frost giants would give the warriors frostbite from their touch alone. I don’t want to hurt you.” Loki shared his concern with you.
“But may I come closer? I won’t touch you, I promise.” You paid attention to the hesitant look in Loki’s eye before he subtly nodded and clasped his hands behind his back as you slowly closed the gap between the two of you, until you were about arms length away from him.
Loki appeared nervous as he let his eyelids cast over his eyes once again and lowered his head to stare at the reflection of the galaxies on the ground, avoiding your curious gaze as you let your eyes cast over every visible inch of his body, amazed by his otherworldly form. He was like nothing you had ever seen before and you were completely captivated by him, even the constellations above couldn’t steal your attention away.
“Please don’t hide your face.” You softly pleaded.
“You don’t have to pretend that you find this form appealing,” Loki shook his head letting his dark hair curtain over his face, “I know this is disparate to the standards of beauty on your planet, I do not seek or expect validation, my one and only intention is to honour your trust and be completely open with you.”
Innately, you reached your hand out with the intention of brushing his hair away from his face and behind his ear, momentarily forgetting about the promise you had made not to touch him. When Loki caught sight of your movement, he flinched and instinctually blocked you by catching your wrist in his fist, causing you both to stiffen with alarm once you realised you had made skin on skin contact.
Loki snatched his hand away almost instantly, as if he had touched something scalding hot, while you cradled your wrist in your palm and inspected it. To both your surprise, you were unharmed. All you had felt when Loki touched you was a slight chill which rose goosebumps along the back of your forearm, but you received no injury, no frostbite.
Tentatively, you began stretching your fingers out towards Loki’s hand which hung limply by his side, he warily watched your movements but made no move to pull his hand out your reach since he was just as curious as you were. Your pointer finger lightly brushed against his own, rivalling the touch of a feather, causing his hand to twitch slightly at the ticklish sensation that ran through it. His hand was cold to touch, like he had just came inside from a long walk in a winter storm, but his touch did not hurt you so you slowly reached out further until your fingers were interlocked.
Loki looked at your intertwined fingers as if his eyes were playing tricks on him before he hesitantly gave your hand a gentle squeeze with his own, just to make sure it was truly there and not a figment of his imagination and you gave his hand a squeeze back in return as you took a step closer to him.
“I’m not pretending.” You told him honestly and Loki pulled his gaze away from your hands to look into your eyes for any sign of insincerity. “I love the way that your skin glows different hues as it reflects the colours of the galaxies surrounding us.” You traced the pad of your thumb against the purple tone on his cheekbone, as your eyes studied his face, “the way the stars mirror in your eyes, they outshine even the finest rubies.”
Loki leaned into your touch as you moved ever closer, you traced the pad of your thumb over the ridges of his face and Loki let his eyes flutter shut in response to your soothing touch. You were fascinated by the perfectly aligned markings.
“Do all frost giants have identical markings or are they unique to each one, like fingerprints?” You curiously whispered and Loki’s eyelids calmly rose open as he looked down at you, almost dumbfounded by the genuine interest you displayed in his true form.
“They’re all different...” Loki slowly answered as he watched the way your eyes roamed his form with nothing but pure intrigue.
Your thumb travelled across his cold skin until you found markings that disappeared under the collar of his shirt.
“May I?” You looked up to his eyes for consent as your fingers rested over the top button of his shirt.
Loki was looking back at you, his cheeks appeared to be a deeper shade of blue than the rest of his face, it almost looked like a blush, while the bottomless depths in the centre of his ruby red eyes expanded, as constellations swirled inside them. “You may.” Loki granted you permission in a hushed tone and you felt his Adam’s apple bop against your fingers as you unfastened the top button of his shirt.
You loosened his tie and slipped it from his neck, letting it cascade to the floor to be forgotten, before you returned to unbuttoning his shirt. Once it was completely undone, you peaked at his bare chest, the markings from his neck ran parallel along his collarbones and stopped at the edge of his shoulders. A single line ran down the centre of his chest and stopped above his belly button. Two lines on either side ran parallel until they diverged in opposite directions and disappeared around either side of his narrow waist. In groups of three, completely symmetrical lines on either side of his hips, arched down towards his pelvis and disappeared beneath the waist band of his trousers.
Moving your hands underneath his shirt you gently encouraged it off his shoulders and gravity did the rest to slip it from his body. The same narrow markings ran down his biceps and forearms, the lines spiralled around like the pattern of a candy cane until his elbows where the lines gathered close together and completely circled his arm like a band.
“Are you okay with this?” You double checked with Loki, your hands were resting on his shoulders, you didn’t want to push him beyond his comfort, he had remained uncharacteristically quiet the whole time. Loki simply nodded and you furrowed your brows, not entirely convinced.
“Are you su–“ you didn’t get the chance to finish asking him before he hooked his cold hand around the back of your neck, sending shivers down your spine, and he dragged your lips towards his own. His other arm encircled your waist, securing you close to his body, you felt him fist at the back of your thin blouse to drag it out from where it was tucked into your trousers so his hand could gain access beneath it. As his cool fingers ran along the dip of your spine, goosebumps rose along your skin and your fine hairs stood on end.
“I’m sorry, I just– I never imagined I would ever be touched in this form and even if there was a chance I could be... I doubted anyone would ever want to.” Loki admitted, as he rested his forehead against yours with his eyes closed.
You nudged your nose against his affectionately, “I find it difficult to keep my hands off of you.” You admitted as you wrapped your arms further around his neck and pulled him down to once again mould your lips to his.
Loki could sense from the way you looked at him, your body language and lack of hesitation that this wasn’t a performance, your words and actions were completely true and sincere. The fact he was in his jotun form slipped from the forefront of his mind as he allowed himself to indulge in this moment which he shared with you, without allowing any other thoughts to enter his mind, his attention was entirely focused on you.
Loki lowered the pair of you to the floor and you prepared for your back to come into contact with the hard surface but instead it met a soft fur blanket and cushions which you were certain hadn’t been there beforehand. You couldn’t be bothered to find the words to question it, instead moans of pleasure escaped between your parted lips as Loki’s cool mouth attached to the column of your neck and left hungry open mouthed kisses down your collarbones and over your chest, as he skilfully unbuttoned your blouse with one hand.
The fact his lips were cold created a whole new foreign sensation which you weren’t used to and it caused your sensitive body to become even more responsive. Once Loki had slipped your flimsy blouse from your body, you put your palms on his shoulders and pushed until he rolled onto his back and you straddled him.
Loki couldn’t hide the stunned expression which crossed over his face from your unexpected gain of control, you wanted to make sure he knew how much you admired his true form and how grateful you were that he trusted you enough to let you see it.
“Let me worship you.” You whispered against his icy lips.
“If you insist.” Loki grinned in return after a short quiet pause where he put little effort in masking the affect your words had on him.
As you followed the markings on his chest all the way down his belly, to the top of his trousers, Loki sunk his fingers into your hair and gently scratched the tips of his black fingernails over your scalp, which sent pleasant shivers through your entire body.
You quickly popped open the button of his trousers and pulled down the zipper, eager to reattach your lips to his cool flesh, you dug your fingers into both the waistband of his trousers and his underwear and dragged them down together until his hard member sprung free.
“Darling?” You heard Loki whisper and you gently shushed him as you planted warm kisses along his marked thighs, while your hands rested on his bare hips, which involuntarily bucked as your lips moved closer to where he needed you.
You purposely made your fingertips lightly drag across the point where his hip met the top of his leg to send a ticklish sensation through his abdomen, you smiled to yourself when you felt Loki squirm slightly beneath you, before you wrapped your fingers around the base of his length and you heard his breath catch in his throat.
You looked up at Loki through your lashes to find him already staring down at you with his pupils blown and his lips parted ever so slightly. Without breaking eye contact you opened your mouth and licked a stripe straight up his cock from the base to the tip, you weren’t sure where this surge of confidence to take had control come from but the way Loki responded only encouraged you to continue.
“Gods...” You heard him whisper to himself as his eyes rolled into the back of his head, which fell back limply between his shoulders as his grip in your hair tightened once you wrapped your warm mouth around his cold and sensitive tip.
You slowly dragged your lips back off his length with hollow cheeks, relishing in the response you gained from Loki, you dared to try and take him even deeper as you reattached your lips and sunk down until you felt his tip at the back of your mouth before you slowly pulled back up.
“I fear your mouth might take me to Valhalla.” Loki strained as he bucked his hips in search of more friction, your cheeks heated at the praise, spurring you on to please him further.
Sinking back down on his length, you dragged your hand at his base up and down where your mouth couldn’t reach as you began to bob your head. You felt yourself grow wetter in your underwear simply due to the affect you were having on the God beneath you. Using your free hand you unbuttoned your suit pants and dug your fingers into your underwear to rub the pad of your middle finger over your sensitive clit.
Moans escaped your mouth, sending vibrations through Loki’s hard cock which increased his pleasure, he couldn’t control the way his hips bucked into the warmth of your delightful mouth, making you choke slightly as his blunt tip hit the back of your throat.
Loki immediately lifted his head to check on you but you had quickly regained your composure as you continued to pleasure him, unfazed, but he noticed your hand buried into the front of your own pants and he drew his brows together because that just would not do.
Using his hand which was buried in your hair, he gently dragged your head up, causing a whine to leave your throat as he slipped from your mouth but he tenderly soothed you as he brought his hand to your cheek and encouraged you to crawl up his body.
“What were you doing?” Loki softly asked you, by now both your hands were resting on either side of his head in order to hold yourself up as he stared up directly at you with one hand stroking through your hair, while the other traced patterns along your bare back.
“Sucking you off?” You answered, but your tone made it sound more like a question as you drew your brows together with confusion.
“What else.” Loki prompted you and your mind cleared with realisation but you were still confused as to why he was drawing attention to it.
“Playing with myself...” You said feeling your face begin to flush, certain now that this was the answer that he was looking for.
“Mhm,” Loki nodded in acknowledgement before he switched your positions, pushing you onto your back so he was looming over you, his stare grew even more intense as the galaxies were no longer reflected in his eyes causing them to grow darker. “Why?”
Suddenly you began to grow nervous, like you had been caught doing something you shouldn’t have, “because I wanted to?” You asked, as if he already knew the answer and you were making a guess hoping it was the right one.
“You wanted to?” Loki cocked his brow, as he slowly trailed his hand down your stomach and buried his hand into your underwear just like you had, you twitched slightly at the cool sensation on your heat, as he dragged his fingers through your folds, gathering your juices on them, he lightly nudged your clit before he pulled his hand back out of your underwear.
“You’re completely soaked,” he stated, “you resorted to pleasuring yourself while I’m right here and perfectly capable of taking care of all your needs.” If you weren’t mistaken, you’d say Loki seemed almost offended, you weren’t sure if you should’ve apologised or not.
“What about you?” You tried, after all you were taking care of his needs.
“My love, I will not see you go neglected as I chase my own pleasure.” Loki told you, as he dragged your trousers and underwear down your legs, revealing your most intimate area to himself and the galaxies above. You moved your legs like you were on an invisible bicycle in order to completely pull them off your body and left them in a messy heap on the floor while Loki unlatched your bra, leaving you completely bare to him.
He didn’t hesitate to run the blunt head of his cock over your folds, causing you to jump at the unfamiliar feeling of such a chilling temperature on your heat, you wondered how it would feel inside you. You didn’t have to wait long to find out as Loki began sinking himself into you, both of your senses and sensitivities were heightened due to your contrasting temperatures, you felt every inch of his length drag against your hot walls, while Loki almost came instantly from the feeling of your tight heat surrounding him.
“Oh my god, Loki,” you gasped as you tightened your arms around him as shivers shot through your spine hand in hand with pleasure while your abdomen tightened and your walls fluttered against his cool length. Loki allowed himself to bask in your response before he began rolling his hips in a steady rhythm.
Once again you began to move your hand down towards your clit but Loki quickly grabbed both your wrists in his fits and pinned them on the plush cushions scattered around your head.
“If you keep insisting on taking responsibility for your own pleasure, I will be left with no choice but to restrain you.” Loki warned you and the suggestion sent the pit of your stomach swirling.
Loki picked up on the way your eyes widened so slightly at the mere thought of being restrained and completely at his mercy and realised that might be something you would be interested in and he stored it in his memory to explore at a later date, for now he made sure to keep your wrists held together in one of his large hands, as he brought the other down to your neglected clit.
Your back immediately arched into his as you gasped with pleasure and he increased his pace, creating more friction for the pair of you. Loki’s marked back glistened with the many hues from above, as it arched and rolled with each hard and direct thrust.
“Please, Loki...” You whined as you felt your release coiling in the base of your stomach, you just needed a gentle nudge over the edge. You moved your leg slightly, giving Loki the room to change the angle of his deep thrusts and you instantly screamed with pleasure as he unexpectedly hit the perfect spot inside you, instantly sending your orgasm crashing over you as you chanted his name along with some added curse words.
Loki came immediately after you as the way your walls clenched around him as your release surged through you had ignited his own explosion.
While you recovered from your orgasm, you watched Loki’s face as his eyes closed and his lips parted before a backdrop of constellations which shone behind him like a nimbus and you thought it was the most breathtaking sight you had ever seen.
As his pleasure gently evaporated, he slipped himself out of you and rested by your side, a warm ivory skin tone began to spread over his body as he returned to his usual form. His body temperature instantly rose and you snuggled into his chest in search of warmth, since laying with his frost giant form had left your own skin cold to the touch.
Loki conjured another blanket and tucked it snugly around the pair of you as he wrapped his arm around your shoulders and secured you in his safe and comfortable hold and you let out a quiet content sigh.
You believed the moment couldn’t have been anymore perfect, you were resting in the arms of the person you loved, in post orgasmic bliss, underneath a view very few people would ever have the privilege of enjoying.
It took you a moment to realise it, but you immediately stiffened as soon as you realised what you had considered Loki as. The person you loved.
“Are you all right?” Loki lifted his head to look down at you, having picked up on the way your body had stiffened against him and the way your pulse picked up as his felt the beat of your heart hammering against the side of his bare chest.
“I just... I just remembered what I saw on the projection,” you quickly saved yourself, “will you tell me where it was from?”
Now you lifted your head and rested your chin above his armpit as you looked at him with concern, although you were attempting to cover up the real reason you had unexpectedly stiffened, you were still anxious about what you had saw and Loki had promised that he would explain it to you later, you decided what better time than now.
Loki’s eyelids lowered as he looked down and let his head fall back against the cushions and you noticed the way he swallowed nervously, as you watched him closely in silence, giving him time to gather the right words.
“Remember how in Pompeii I told you I am a glitch in the timeline and I’m not supposed to exist?” Loki jogged your memory and you nodded against his shoulder.
“After I attacked New York and I was captured by my brother and the Avengers, I stole the tesseract and used it to escape – in the original timeline that never happened, originally I was captured and Thor took me with him back to Asgard. By escaping with the tesseract I created an alternate timeline of events. The projection was showing me my alternative life... and that moment you saw... that was my death.” You didn’t miss the way Loki’s voice trembled slightly as he explained it to you which caused hot tears to gather underneath the edge of your waterline, while it felt like a fist tightened around your heart.
“That... that’s not going to happen to you now though, right?” You worried and Loki once again lifted his head to look you in the eye as he rose a comforting hand to your cheek.
“No, darling. I’m on a different path now. One I am taking with you by my side.” Loki assured you and brought a smile to your lips and a warmth to your chest that soothed your racing heart.
You planted a kiss on his lips, pouring all your emotions and feelings into it, which caused it to deepen as your lips moved against each other’s in a lazy rhythm until you lifted away with one last peck before you returned your head to his chest.
“Let’s sleep here tonight, under the stars.” You said as you closed your eyes, finally realising just how tired you were.

Unusual Way - Loki x Reader - Words: 3,294 (including song lyrics)
A/N: Reader is Silver Shadow. However, this doesn't follow the same 'first meeting/falling in love' sequence as "Hurting Each Other".
Loki and you were best friends and had been for about 2 years now since he moved into the tower. It all started the day he'd moved in while you were out on a mission and no one had the brilliant idea to tell you that you were now sharing your floor with someone.
So there you were, exhausted and dirty from the fight, looking forward to a nice hot shower. You'd already taken off your cape in the elevator and as you got off and walked down the hallway to your bedroom, you started to pull at the zipper of your jacket.
"I must say, I wasn't expecting you to be so forward."
"Who's there?" You yelled, not recognizing the voice that spoke to you. You whipped around, trying to see who it was that was speaking.
"Hello," A man suddenly said, appearing directly in front of you. You throw a quick punch but your hand goes right through him and he disappears. "Over here!" He exclaims, waving to you from a few steps away. You quickly draw one of your knives and throw it at him. Again it goes right through him.
"I said, who are you?" You demand, not having had a chance to get a good look at his face yet.
"Tsk tsk," He says, appearing once more, a few feet now away from you. "So impatient." As he talks you focus on the vase setting on the hallway table behind him and start drawing it towards you. If you time it just right, you can either hit him or, if he's not there again, stop it in time before it hits you. "I am Loki, of Asgard! And I am burdened wi-OW!" He yells as the vase hits his head. "Will anyone ever let me finish that thought?"
“Loki?” You screeched. “What are you doing here? Do the others know?” You asked, rushing up to the admittedly handsome man. Even during his attack on New York you couldn’t help but go a little starry-eyed at his presence.
“I am here to help. I,” He sighed, rubbing the back of his head again. “I’m here to work with you and your little team.” Your eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"Oh! Well, I, uh, sorry about that," You stuttered, gesturing to his head. "Here, let me fix that." You reached up and touched the back of his head gently.
"Thank you," He replied with a small smile.
"Let's start over," You grinned. "Hi, I'm Y/N. I guess I'm your new floormate." He grinned back, still surprised by your kindness.
"Yeah, I guess you are."
~ 6 Months Later ~
"C'mon, Y/N!" Loki yelled down the hallway. "The pairs' free dance is about to begin!" You ran out of the bathroom, socks sliding on the hardwoods.
"Woah!" You exclaimed, sliding, or rather bodyslamming, into him. He of course caught you easily, being used to this occurrence, and laughed. A few minutes later you were both sitting on the couch with a rather large bowl of popcorn between you. "Those twizzles were completely out of sync. That's going to ruin their score."
"Perhaps," he commented, tossing another buttery snack in his mouth. "But their lifts have been perfect unlike the other couples." You shrugged and continued watching. You found yourself shivering, however, as you continued watching the programs.
"Has the thermostat gone down?" You asked. Loki got up and checked.
"No, are you cold?" He, of course, didn't notice any difference since he was, not only a Frost Giant, but also wearing a lovely sweater, you thought.
"Yeah, must be the ice," You joked, nodding at the television. You eyed his soft, grey sweater once again and decided that, even though it looked absolutely stunning on him, you needed it more.
"Um, would it be alright if I borrowed your sweater?" You asked nervously. He looked mildly surprised but quickly pulled it off and handed it to you. "Thanks," You said quietly. The past couple weeks you'd realized you had developed a minor crush on your new best friend. You didn't say anything, however, for fear of ruining said friendship. "It smells like you," You chuckled, pulling the jumper close around you. Loki blushed brightly and apologized.
"Sorry, so sorry. I can-I can get a new one from the wash." He went to get up, face still flushed in embarrassment.
"Loki, it's fine," You replied, stopping him. "I don't mind. Thank you for lending it to me." He smiled sweetly at you in reply.
"You're welcome. After all, what are friends for?"
~ 1 Year Later ~
"He's too pretty for his own good, Nat!" you complained, throwing quick punches at your sparring partner.
"And what's that supposed to mean?"
"It means if he knew what's good for him, he would be so perfect all the time!" You blocked three punches and landed one of your own. "If he doesn't I might have to take matters into my own hands."
"Meaning you'll finally ask him out instead of driving us all crazy pining over him like you have been for the past year and a half or so?" She retorted with a smirk, flipping you to the ground and pinning your arms behind you. You groaned and rolled out from under her, standing and holding your hands up in defeat.
"No! Of course not! It means I'd have to ugly him up a little." Natasha rolled her eyes and laughed.
"Like you'd ever have the guts! C'mon! Be honest with yourself! You liked him since New York. Just put on your big-girl pants and tell him! And if you can't find yours, I can lend you mine," She teased, playfully slapping your butt.
"Watch it, Widow!" you snapped. "I'm going to the conference room if it's not in use. I don't want to be disturbed, ok?"
"Fine, just let me know all the juicy details when you finally have the guts to go back to your floor, ok?" You rolled your eyes and walked out.
"Finally alone," you sighed, tossing your gym bag in a chair and slumping down in another. "FRIDAY?”
"Yes, Miss Y/N?" The AI replied.
"Please shut the blinds and lock the door. Emergency override only."
"Yes, Miss." You closed your eyes, tears threatening to slip through.
"FRIDAY, shuffle Linda Eder from my library."
"Of course," The AI replied. When I Look In Your Eyes started playing and you leaned back in the chair, closing your eyes and tuning out the rest of the world. You were so focused on your music and trying to figure out your own feelings that you didn't hear the door open. The next song started and you chuckled humorlessly.
"This one's for you," You said to yourself, thinking of your best friend. You sang along as Unusual Way played.
“In a very unusual way, one time I needed you
In a very unusual way, you were my friend
Maybe it lasted a day, maybe it lasted an hour
But somehow it will never end
In a very unusual way, I think I'm in love with you
In a very unusual way, I want to cry
Something inside me goes weak, something inside me surrenders
And you're the reason why, you're the reason why
You don't know what you do to me
Don't have a clue
You can't tell what it's like to be me
Looking at you
It scares me so that I can hardly speak...
In a very unusual way, I owe what I am to you
Though at times it appears I won't stay, I never go
Special to me in my life, since the first day that I met you
How could I ever forget you, once you had touched my soul
In a very unusual way...
You made me whole”
When you finished you thought you heard a noise behind you but when you turned around there was no one there. You shrugged it off as your own overactive imagination and got up, gathering your stuff. When you got back upstairs, you found Loki in the kitchen. "Thought you might like some lunch," He explained.
"Oh, thanks," You replied, sitting down and letting him serve you. After a few minutes of silent eating you decided you needed to say something. "Loki, I-"
"Y/N, I-" You both laughed, having spoken at the same time.
"You first," You both said. Laughing again, you shook your head and motioned for him to go on.
"Y/N, I must confess something. I-" He paused, taking a deep breath. "I wasn't going to say anything because I was afraid of how you'd respond but," He chuckled nervously. "I believe I've fallen in love."
"Oh!" You gasped. You set down your fork, losing your appetite quickly. "So who's the lucky lady? Do I know her?" You asked, taking a sip of water trying to look casual.
"Yes you do," He replied, smirking. "She's very beautiful and talented. She's kind and helpful to everyone. And most importantly she-"
BZZT BZZT
"Uh, sorry," you said, looking at your ringing phone. "I should take this. It's Steve." Loki looked upset but nodded. "Hello?"
"Y/N? We've got a problem. Is Loki with you?"
"Uh, yeah, he is. Cap, what's wrong?" Loki got up and moved closer to listen in on the conversation.
"We just got intel on a new Hydra base. This one's different though. They have too many defensive procedures in place for us to just attack. We need someone on the inside. That's where you and Loki come in."
"You're sending us to work undercover in a base?!" You screeched.
"Yes, pack a few things and be on the helicarrier in an hour. I'll finish briefing you then."
Working on the inside was, of course, much harder than you'd expected. Thankfully no one here knew you from your actual Hydra days so that made it easier. You just hadn't expected being separated from Loki for so long. Especially after your interrupted conversation, you wanted to talk to him again. Steve assured you, though, it would be a quick mission and you could get back to your normal life within a few weeks.
~ 6 Months Later ~
"You have exactly 2 minutes to get out before this whole place blows, you got that?" Cap yelled through your comms. The mission had gotten complicated and had extended to 6 Months for you both. But now you and Loki had apparently collected enough info for Cap and the others to finally come and blow it all open. Although, none of you had expected a literal explosion. You grabbed the last of the information you needed and booked it out of there. Once you made it into the clearing where the others had regrouped, you looked around frantically as Cap took a head count. "Loki's not out yet!"
"What!" You exclaimed. "There's only 30 seconds!" Suddenly your comms crackled to life.
"Found...girl…trapped," Loki said. The static made it impossible to understand the sentence fully but you understood what he meant.
"Loki! Get out!" Steve yelled.
"I'm going in," You said. Steve yelled to stop you but you were too quick. You teleported in and found the two, trying to shelter themselves in a corner. "Loki!"
"Y/N?" He exclaimed, turning to see you. "What are you doing here?"
"Trying to rescue you, you idiot! Now hold on." You reached out and grabbed Loki's and the girl's hands and teleported out just as the building exploded. Cap immediately went to help the girl, leading her back to the helicarrier.
"So," Loki said, looking at your hand still gripping his. You impulsively gave him a hug, the thought that you could have lost him starting to sink in. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," You replied, pulling away quickly. "I just-"
"Loki! Y/N! C'mon!" Cap called out. You were interrupted once more but ran to the helicarrier and rode back home in silence. When you landed back at the tower, you rushed to your bedroom and flung yourself on the bed face first.
"I need a life," You groaned. You heard Loki calling out for you so you rushed into the bathroom and quickly turned on the shower hoping that he would think you were in there and leave. Once you didn't hear him anymore you decided it actually was a good idea to take a shower so you adjusted the temperature and got in. A few minutes later you found yourself lost in the magical world of shower thoughts. Not wanting to get upset again, you decided on music. "FRIDAY, shuffle my library," You said.
"Right away," It replied. As you were dressing a few songs later, Unusual Way started playing and you thought back to the day you'd left for the mission. You sang along sadly, once again thinking of the man you loved who, apparently, loved someone else.
"You don't know what you do to me
Don't have a clue
You can't tell what it's like to be me
Looking at you"
You opened your door to go to the kitchen and Loki stumbled in. "Were you leaning on the door?"
"Maybe," He admitted, blushing. You stared at him, gesturing for him to explain. FRIDAY paused your music since you were talking and he glanced up at the ceiling. "I wanted to talk to you but I heard the shower start so I was going to leave but then I heard you singing and-"
"I don't like performing," You snapped, quite embarrassed that he'd heard you singing that song especially.
"But I want to hear you sing. Especially that song, you sing it so beautifully."
"How would you know? You heard me through a door," You scoffed. Pushing past him you walked out into the hallway, pulling your door shut behind you.
"Not six months ago I didn't." That stopped you in your tracks. Spinning around on your heel you marched back up to him.
"You heard me when?"
"In the conference room, the day we left for the mission. I'd gone to watch you practice and see if maybe you wanted to practice with me a little but Natasha said you'd left already. She told me where you were and that you didn't want to be disturbed but," He chuckled softly. "Has that ever stopped me?" You laughed and shook your head. "Well, I heard you singing and I decided to leave you be."
"Oh well, thanks I guess," You said, smiling softly, still embarrassed but not as mad anymore.
"May I ask, who were you singing to?"
"What do you mean?"
"When the song started you said 'this one's for you'. Who did you have in mind?"
"Oh," You said, surprised. You blushed brightly and shook your head. "Just someone I care for very much I suppose."
"You suppose?" He teased.
"Ok! I do care about him! Geez! You're as bad as Nat sometimes!" He laughed loudly and you could help but smile wider. You loved when he laughed like that, a real laugh that reached his eyes and filled the room. As you walked into the kitchen and sat down at the counter together, you quickly remembered your conversation at lunch that day though and frowned. "Unfortunately I don't think he quite thinks of me the same way."
"Why's that?" He asked, brows furrowing.
"I am quite sure he has his eyes on another girl."
"Is it the Captain?"
"Oh goodness no!" You immediately replied. "No, definitely not." His eyes suddenly lost their joy and he seemed almost scared to ask his next question. He got up and went to the window, putting quite a bit of space between you.
"Is it my brother?" He asked quietly.
"No! No no no! Never!" You exclaimed. You actually shuddered at the mental image. Realizing what needed to be done you teleported yourself in front of him with your back to the window. He startled and jumped back quickly. You smirked and stepped closer. "I don't know if you've noticed but I'm not a fan of blond's."
"Perhaps Banner then?" He stammered, trying to come up with an idea. You could not believe how clueless he could be.
"What? Ew! No!" You pretended to gag. "I like someone more fun, more mischievous," You grinned.
"Misch-oh," He breathed, finally figuring it out. You looked away, feeling embarrassment set in again. "Well, Y/N, I-"
"Look, I know you were trying to tell me before we left that you're in love and I couldn't be happier for you and I wish you all the best but I just needed you to know, ok?" You cried.
"But Y/N! You don't-"
"I'm sorry," You said, trying to run past him to lock yourself up in your room.
"Not so fast," He said, grabbing your arm.
"Wha-" You were cut off by a pair of lips meeting yours. He quickly pulled away, grinning like mad.
"You don't know what I've been trying and wanting to tell you! The girl I love is you, Y/N! I love you!"
"Me?" You squeaked, smiling giddily. He nodded and you laughed. "I cannot believe it. We've been idiots haven't we?"
"Most certainly," He agreed. He gave you another quick kiss and looked in your eyes. "I think I've loved you since we met but you know when I fell in love with you?"
"When?"
"When you borrowed that grey sweater and never gave it back." You gasped, eyes widening in surprise.
"I didn't realize I never returned it!"
"Oh sure! You wear it all the time!"
"I do no-oh," You paused, thinking about your closet. "Maybe I do," You chuckled. "Well, I actually liked you from the first time I saw you."
"When I scared you coming off the elevator?"
"No, 2012," You whispered. Loki stared at you, quite surprised. "I knew what you were doing was wrong but," You sat down on the couch, having wandered into the living area. "Somehow I understood you."
"Y/N, I don't know what to say. I, well, I was a very different man then and-"
"And you were pretty," You deadpanned.
"Ah, so my irresistible charms strike again." You both laughed and he sat beside you. "Y/N, I think we've been fooling ourselves for far too long. Now, you love me, right?"
"Yes!" You said emphatically.
"And I love you, right?"
"I sure hope so!" He grinned and you wondered where this was going. He stood up and took your hand in his.
"Well then, I should wish to officially court you if that should please you and have your approval," He said, bowing slightly.
"I accept," You replied immediately. You stood up and gave him a big hug. "Oh, Loki, thank you."
"You're welcome, my love. But I hope you know what this means."
"What?" You asked, pulling away just in time to see his smirk.
"It means you're no longer allowed to hog the popcorn bowl on skate night!"
"No," You retorted. "It means that as your girlfriend I can now officially tell you to get your own!" He gasped, playing offended.
"Why! I'm wounded!" He cried, holding his hand over his heart.
"Does this help?" You teased, placing your hand there instead.
"No," He smirked. "But this might," He said, pulling you in for another kiss. "I will never tire of that."
"Nor I," You sighed contentedly. "But we must stop for now."
"Why?"
"It's skate night and I need to get the popcorn ready!"
"Go sit down," He smiled. "I'll get it ready."
"Aw! How sweet!" You squealed. "Alrighty then." You walked back to the couch as settled in. "Loki, dear?" You called out towards the kitchen.
"Yes, darling?"
"Remember, 2 bowls!"

When you were a kid you saw a little boy at your favourite playground. He never spoke, he only moved his fingers and hands strangely. When you asked your parent, they said it's called sign language and people who can't hear use it to comunicate.
Later in your life you met a girl in school who was deaf and lonely. You wanted to become her friend so you took few classes and learned sign. You two were always together, best friends till the end of the school. You two stayed in contact after you went your separate ways.
That was the past. Now you had another person in your life who knew sign language: Clint Barton. Actually, you taught him sign when he lost hearing in an accident on a mission. You were friends ever since. He introduced you to the rest of the Avengers and they became your friends as well. You began spending a lot of time in the tower, you slept over sometimes so Tony gave you your own room. It was smaller than the rest of the Avengers' and was practically the attic of the tower, but it was cozy and you liked it.
It was a cloudy friday and you just entered the tower. You and Natasha wanted to hang out (and how better than having a sleepover with movies, nail polish and classic girly thing Nat doesn't get to enjoy in her hero time?)
As you stumbled across the living area you heard voices. Most likely coming from the party deck. Strange, Tony didn't mention any parties.
You walked one floor upstairs and saw Clint, Nat, Steve, Bucky and Thor sitting on couches, a single glass bottle layed on the table. Everyone had their heads turned towards the ceiling. You looked up and saw Peter making a giant web.
He sticked a big spider plushie inside and swung himself down to couches. "Alright, my turn."
"What are guys doing?" you sat down next to Thor.
"Playing truth or dare of course," Peter explained as he spinned the bottle.
"We are teching Thor what people do to embarass eachother," Natasha chuckled as she was showing you her pigtails and childish make up.
"Can I join?" you asked.
"Sure, who knows, maybe it will land on you."
The bottle stopped right as Nat finished the sentence. Its openening pointing to Clint.
"Alright mister Barton, truth or dare?" Peter asked.
"For the last time kid, just Clint. Truth, I already picked dare twice. Let's hear your question."
"Alright, ummmm," Peter held his chin inbetween his fingers, thinking. He snapped. "What happened in Budapest?"
Clint and Natasha looked at eachother smirking. This will take a while.
~
After few more rounds the bottle finally pointed to you. Your heart pounded with excitement and fear at the same time.
"So," Steve sat a little straighter, "truth or dare?"
"Uhm...... I'm a big girl, dare!"
"Okay then, I dare you to-"
"How in the nine did that web get there?"
All of you turned to the entrance hall. Loki stood there, arms crossed, leaning against a wall.
"Uuuuuh a giant spider?" Peter smiled sheepishly trying too hard to be believable.
"We are playing a game to embarrass eachother. Join us. It's way more fun than I expected," Thor invited Loki.
Loki shook his head. "I have no interest in games today. Maybe later I shall join," his eyes locked with yours. He smiled softly and waved at you. "Hello Y/N."
You blushed and waved back. "Hi Loki."
The younger prince then turned, walked to Tony's stash of alcohol and found himself a glass.
You smiled to yourself. He ignored everyone in the room and said 'hello' to you. Only you. It felt good being noticed.
You felt stares on yourself. Everyone looking at you. Clint smirked and whispered something to Steve. Both of them smirked (almost mischeviously) as they leaned against the back of the couch.
Steve licked his lips. "I dare you to tell Loki you have a crush on him."
"What? No, no way. I change my mind, I want truth."
"I may be too old for this but even I know that's not how this game works, doll," Bucky chuckled at your poor attempt to get yourself out of the dare.
"But- I can't do that, I mean.... I like him, really but not like-," you noticed Natasha raising an eyebrow at you, "-that. Oh gosh, is it obvious?" you asked as you hid your burning face in your hands.
A loud and clear 'yes' was said in unison. You groaned and pulled your knees towards your chest hiding you even more. "This is bad guys. I can't tell him."
"A dare is a dare, you have to."
"But I can't! I can be glad a god, and a bookworm one, considers me his friend. With admitting my true feelings to him I risk looosing him for good!"
Thor huffed. "Loki is not mean. Well, not THAT mean at least. Besides, worse could have happened. Like that one time he and this maiden-"
"We are NOT discussing his previous love life infront of her!" Natasha interrupted Thor's story.
As they started to argue Clint smiled at you and started signing: *I may be deaf, but I'm not blind. I can see it in his eyes. He likes you and I doubt he will reject you. There is something pure between you two, would be a shame if not explored and deepened. * he winked at you as he signed the word "deepened".
His encouraging words helped you sooth your anxiety. He was right. There is something between you, you just aren't sure if that something is romantic.
You took a deep breath. "Okay, I'm going."
You smirked secretely when all they could see was your back. Oh, you are going to tell him, but in your way.
You found Loki sitting at a bar, book on the table, a glass of wine in his hand. You sat on a chair next to him and tapped his shoulder. "I thought you don't drink," you gestured at his drink.
He chuckled. "Just because I can't get drunk from midgardian alcohol doesn't mean I can't enjoy their taste. Do you want some?" he held out his glass to you.
You put a hand on his own and pushed the glass away. "No, thank you."
You heard a cough behind your back. Those bastards must be watching. Time to confess.
"Actually, Loki I came here because I got a dare."
"And what is that?"
You cracked your knuckles and signed out: *I love you Loki*
You made sure it was visible enough for the audience behind you. From the sound of facepalms and groans, they saw it crystal clear.
Loki on the other hand was completely confused. "Eeeh, they dared you to move your hands in my presence? How is that embarrassing? They clearly never played a REAL embarrassing game."
You shrugged. "A dare is a dare. I did it, now it's my turn. Want to help with my revenge?" you tried doing his signature smirk.
He grinned. "I would love to, my dear."
~
Few days passed since you 'confessed' your feelings to Loki.
Nothing changed between you two, he was still polite and charming as ever and you were comfortable in your role of a friend.
Now when you think of it, he began touching you more, not in a creepy way. He also started to make you cups of tea or hot chocolate whenever you visited or when he accidentally brusged his hand along your cold one. He let you borrow his books and when you returned them he eagerly asked you about your opinion.
Maybe something has changed. Maybe, just maybe, he started catching feelings for you too.
Your mind wandered to Loki again just as you were unlocking door to your apartment after a long day at work. You sighed, taking your clothes off and planing to sleep until it's time to sleep for real.
A giant bouquet of red roses on your kitchen table surprised you. You jumped as you heard Loki's voice behind you. "I just couldn't come bare handed now, could I?"
"Loki! What are you doing here? How did you get here?"
He scratched the back of his head. "Sorry. I had to see you."
Your heart sped up. "R-really? Well, that's nice but you could've just called, you know?"
"I still have to ask Tony to get me on of those phones. Listen, I.... do you remember that night, when you played truth or dare and you had to move your hands in front of me?"
You smiled at the memory. Everyone was so annoyed you tricked them. Loki would probably be proud of you. If he knew.
"Yes, I do. What about it?"
"Well, uh- could you do it again?" he asked with, what was it? Shyness in his voice?
"Oh, okay," you said and your hands and fingers spelled out your confession once more.
Loki smiled at you softly. He raised his hands and started signing *I love you too Y/N, I have for a long time. Can we, perhaps, be in a relationship? * he dropped his hands and looked at you hopefully.
You couldn't believe your eyes. He knew how to sign? Since when?
"I've been learning ever since that 'truth or dare' night happened. I wanted to know if your dare wasn't putting a silent curse on me."
You stared up at him. "Did I ask that out loud?"
"No, but you had it written all over your face," he chuckled and tucked stray hair from your eyes. "So, now that we know how the other one feels, can I kiss you?"
As much as you wanted to say yes, you had a different idea. "Even though I enjoy the effort you put into the confession, could you say it out loud? You know, just to be sure," you smirked.
Loki chuckled. "I know I fell in love with the right person. I love you darling."
You stood on your toes and your nose brushed his. "I love you too," you softly pecked his lips. His hands held onto your waist as your own snaked around his neck.
When you two parted he rested his forhead on yours.
"Loki?"
"Yes dear?"
"Can you stay here and cuddle with me? I'm incredibly tired."
You felt his lips on your cheek as he led you towards your couch. "I would love nothing more."

Loki accidentally scaring the reader head canons
loki scaring you would include
Summary: During a battle, loki gets a little overprotective and ends up scaring the reader
Pairing: loki x female!reader
Warning: none really
Genre: fluff, hurt comfort
Tumblr media
so, asgard is pretty common for either fighting or causing wars with other realms. we know this, loki, knows this and so do you. that was one of the catches when agreeing to live there with him and thor
one day, loki instead of spending his precious time with you by courting you and showing you all the most treasured locations in asgard, theres a battle that the two of you are roped into...
loki pulls you aside before they arrive on the rainbow bridge where the battle is taking place, a softness in his beautiful eyes as he begs "y/n...please,this fight isn't yours. please, I cannot let you to endanger yourself, I couldn't bear it if-"
you cut him off with a kiss
"there's not one word you just said that I couldn't say back at you loki". no argument followed. he respects your choices.
so, you two charge into battle with some dramatic ass entrance from loki, as always
you help both him, thor and the warriors of asgard fight against these creatures from some mysterious realm..
after one slash with a borrowed sword, you kill another beast and decide to seek out loki and assist him in the fight...
however.. loki is deep into the battle and he himself doesnt even notice that he's flashing from his normal self to his jotun form...
you approach, only slightly recalling the risk of touching a frost giant and reach for his shoulder. you call "loki..."
instead of him, the beast is the one you catch the attention of and it lurches for you-
"Y/N MOVE!!!!!" loki screams, his blue skin and fiery eyes furious and fearful as he shoves you aside, vanquishing the monster.
you only stare in shock on the cold surface of the rainbow bridge as you realise loki has never raised his voice at you, and more importantly, he's never shown his true form..
the battle ends rather quickly then...
loki composes himself, realising the blue draining from his hands as he calms
oh norns what has he done.....
you're still cowered on the ground as he barely even gathers the strength to look at you again... but when he does, his protectivness kicks in without even registering
"are you alright?? I knew this was a mistake, bringing you to fight, you were almost-"
"loki!" it was thor's call that cut his brother off.
you just wanted to remove yourself from the scene asap, so you did.
hours passed, and you didn't attend to anything, nor anyone
thor and frigga attempted to console and visit your chambers, but it was no use. you were too shaken. loki's jotun form was embedded in you mind, it was all you saw.
though eventually came the gentle knock of your lover. your loki...
"y/n...?" his voice was so so broken...it almost weakened you immediately
"may I enter?"
you honestly didnt know what to reply with, but it didnt matter, he opened the door taking a cautious step inside, his eyes landing on you as you curled up on the palace bed
the expression on his face was one you'd never forget... the hurt expression was enough to make odin shed a tear...
"what happened earlier, during the battle...I realise that was no doubt horrifying for you to witness of me. y/n...I am so, so sorry, truly. the only thought in my mind, was stopping that beast from laying a damn hand on you! I couldn't let it. even if that meant...you seeing my true form... y/n I will never be able to apologise enough for today."
those words were all it took. you knew loki wasn't one for apologies, or admitting wrong doings, which made it easier to forgive him
you knew you weren't going to give a speech back. you didn't need to. only two simple words...
"come here." and he did, not even asking what for, just falling into your arms until the two of you grew hazy enough to fall asleep and forget the days events

Hey! Can you do a G/t Loki x female!teen borrower reader story? Loki could find the borrower in his room at the Avengers Tower. She could be hiding from him, but he sees her and picks her up, saying things that’ll scare her. He keeps doing so until she starts crying and he immediately turns into a soft gentle boi, especially when he notices that he was scaring a kid🥺😂
Omg yes! Loki is one of my favorite Marvel characters. I hope you enjoy anon and sorry for the kind of abrupt ending.
_______________________________________________________________
Y/N studied the black-haired bean from the vent. For some reason, this bean intrigued the young borrower. Maybe it was his raven black hair or how he was silent with his footsteps or how nobody knows what he was thinking, but the young borrower could not help but be fascinated by him.
Y/N stared at Loki through the vent above his bed. He was reading aloud from a book. Y/N did not know what the book was called but they listened anyway. They listened to Loki’s calming voice telling the story of extraordinary places and people. His voice was so smooth and calming, Y/N could probably fall asleep listening to him but she had to get going soon. She waited for Loki to finish the chapter before she left.
When Loki was done reading Y/N got up and started walking away. She turned towards the vent opening and looked where Loki was supposed to be but he was gone. She got a little nervous but thought nothing of it. He probably had something to do and left, nothing to worry about.  She started walking away when she heard something fall. Y/N spun around and walked towards the entrance of the vent and looked around the room.
There was nobody or anything wrong with the room. She shrugged her shoulders. Y/N started walking away when heard a voice. A voice belonging to a person she hoped she would never meet, “So your the thing that has been watching me.” Loki’s smooth voice echoed through the vent.
Y/N whipped around and made eye contact with the one person you never wanted to meet. Loki. He smirked at her, ‘Why don’t you come out little one. I won’t hurt you, at least not too bad.” His grin grew as he spoke making it more sinister.
Y/N whipped back around and bolted down the vent trying to escape. She felt herself freeze and noticed that she could not move. She tried to move her legs or at least her arms but she was frozen. She could hear the cover of the vent fall onto the bed with a soft puff. The feeling of cold fingers touching her waits made her try to struggle again. The fingers picked her up and put Y/N into the palm pulling her out of the vent.
As the hand exited the vent Y/N regained the ability to move. She started kicking at the hand holding her captive. She kicked and bit at the hand as she was brought up to Loki’s face. “Would you stop?” A playful glint sparked in Loki’s eyes, “You don’t know what I could do to you if you do not stop little one.”
Y/N stopped struggling, “P-please don’t hurt me, I was just listening to you read n-nothing else.” you squeaked.
“Oh little one, I will not hurt you. At least, not too much. Where I am from catching a tiny like you is an honor, and I have to admit you were a disappointment. You were too easy to catch. But never mind that you will still make a good pet.”
Y/N’s eyes widened and her face paled. Loki’s smirk widened, “Especially someone as young as you. Much easier to train and leave an impression on.”
Y/N bowed her head and silent tears slid down her face. She did not want to become a pet, especially for this monster. Why did she even watch him? If she didn’t watch Loki she would be in this situation.
“Tiny, look at me when I speak to you.”
Y/N did not move her head not wanting Loki to see her crying. “When I say look at me,” Loki put a finger under Y/N’s jaw and jerked it up to look at him, “I mean it tiny.”
When he looked at Y/N’s face his eyes softened. This was your last straw as she started sobbing. She put her hands on her face and bowed her head not wanting to look at the monster that was going to keep her.
“Tiny, calm down. I was only teasing.” Loki’s hands shook as he lifted your head and removed your hands. His thumb wiped away your tears. “Please forgive me for our inappropriate meeting.” he gave you a small smile.
You were hesitant to trust him, he did threaten to keep you a pet for his entertainment. How are you to know if this was just a trick? You wiped the rest of your tears and decided to trust the giant, “Apology accepted.” You whispered barely audible.
Loki smiled softly, “That is good. So then tiny, what is your name?”
“Y/N. And I already know your name Loki.”
“Very good. I think we will make very good friends Y/N.”

Misunderstandings
When Y/n is afraid to speak up to Loki what will the consequences be?

Tumblr media
“Would you like something to eat?” Loki asks his small friend who stands on the marble countertop fidgeting with her hands. He hears no response and turns his head down to properly look at her. Y/n’s head is turned downwards, looking at her feet.
Y/n is a rather shy person who only speaks her mind when absolutely necessary and right now is not one of those times. It’s not that she’s scared of Loki, sure his immense size is intimidating but she trusts that he is careful not to hurt her accidentally or on purpose even. It’s just hard for her to use her voice. Every time she feels the want to speak and respond to Loki her chest becomes tight, her hands clammy with sweat, and her breathing shallow.
Loki becomes irritated at Y/n’s silence; he has done nothing to make her so quiet and afraid of him. Taking a deep breath he tries to calm himself and leans down making his face level to Y/n. Her head tilts up to meet his gaze, a worried expression obvious.
“Are you mad at me?” She asks, fearing his disappointment in her.
Loki smiles in reassurance; something that was rare for him to do until he met Y/n.
“I just wish you would speak to me more often. I feel that the conversions we have anymore are one-sided.” Loki says sadly.
“But… what would you like to eat? I know you’re hungry Little Miss.”
Y/n blushes from the sweet nickname he has taken a liking to but does at least tell him what she’d like to eat. He seems proud when she speaks up, sending a jolt of happiness through her chest.
After Loki conjures what she asked for on a fancy china plate, he refuses to eat off of anything less, he picks Y/n up gently setting her upon his shoulder. He walks to the living room with their plates ready for a cozy, movie-filled night.
The next morning Y/n wakes up on her bed placed on the nightstand next to Loki’s larger one. She glances over at the already made-up covers, surprised to not see Loki anywhere in sight. She slides off her bed her bare feet hitting the cold hardwood.
“Loki?” She calls out. She can make out clanging in the kitchen which is odd. Loki usually always carries her into the kitchen or wherever he’s heading off to. He must not hear her as the noises continue. She peeks to the floor far below her perch on the nightstand and looks over to the bed. The nightstand starts to shake slightly indicating Loki’s arrival. Oh, thank God he didn’t forget about her. Her shoulders slump in relief as she sees his monumental form stroll into the bedroom, his head swiveling around as if he forgot something. He goes to his dresser and retrieves what he needs walking out of the room as if she was invisible. She wanted to call his name but what if she bothered him? Or if what she said wasn’t important enough?
Making the agonizing trip down the bedsheets is a feat way too big to be accomplished for 9 o’clock in the morning. She pads her way to the kitchen, wary of the furniture around her. She sometimes forgets how easy Loki makes her life, offering a gracious palm here and there to ferry her from room to room. She comes into the kitchen and stares up at the skyscraping counters that tower over her. She sees Loki come around the corner and stares up and up amazed that his hips clear the top of the countertop easily. She had momentarily forgotten how tall he was. Loki’s footsteps rattle her to the bone walking to the oven and back to the sink. Her mouth runs dry, her heart pumping furiously as his slippered foot comes down inches from her standing form. She screams in terror, sounding like a squeak to Loki’s ears. Y/n covers her head with both arms and falls down to her knees. He turns his head downwards and immediately kneels when he sees what happened.
“Oh, my God! Y/n are you okay?” He breathes out, terrified that he might have hurt her with an unaware step. He carefully scoops her up with shaking hands and sets her on the counter, resting a protective hand behind her.
Y/n looks up at him with teary eyes and sees that he is just as terrified. It seems they had gotten too comfortable with their different sizes; overlooking the dangers that could happen.
“Y/n, y-you should’ve called my name or something else to get my attention!” Loki scolds, running a hand through his hair. He should have just taken her with him this morning but he had wanted to let her sleep.
“I tried when I was in the bedroom… but you didn’t hear me,” Y/n says softly.
Loki kneels to see her eyes better, she downturns her head to avoid his gaze. Loki, gentle as ever, lifts her chin with a fingertip.
“Y/n you know I can’t hear you all the way in there. You gotta speak up.” Loki instructs.
A look of thought comes over his face as he scrunches his eyebrows.
“Hey, wait… I came into the bedroom a while ago. Were you in there at that time?”
Y/n wrings her hands and looks down at the counter nodding. Loki lets out an agitated sigh but says nothing more about the subject.
“C’mon Little Miss…. Let’s eat.”
Tumblr media
Y/n waited patiently in the living room chair, one that Loki had kindly made for her size. It was almost time for their daily walk which Y/n enjoyed. Loki would let her perch on his shoulder as he walked through a different part of the forest. He would point out unique flowers and offer a name and why they were called that. Y/n didn’t even know if that was their true name but Loki made it believable enough for her to not second guess. She had never actually walked on the forest floor partly because it was scary to a person of her size but also because she never wanted to annoy or interrupt Loki. But she was going to challenge herself today and actually ask Loki to put her down. She had loved how happy he looked when she spoke up earlier. She wanted to see that smile again. She tied her boots again and redid her hair to make certain it was out of the way waiting impatiently.
She felt Loki walking into the living room and stood up eagerly ready to go. But he kept walking by her, continuing to the front door. Without a glance back he walked outside on his own, ready to walk. Right when the door slammed did Y/n have the ability to speak and call out his name but it seemed it was too late.
He’d left her all alone.
Y/n sat down on her chair with a tightness in her throat. Even her heart seemed to hurt. All the eagerness she had previously had evaporated. She rested her elbows on her knees and put her hands on her head. One tear slipped from her eye and she wiped it away hastily. But it didn’t matter as the next one slipped out and re-wet her cheek. She let the sadness take over feeling more alone than she ever had.
Later that night Loki made dinner and offered her some but she refused. She felt stubborn and truthfully wasn’t a bit hungry. She didn’t want to bother him with her presence. When he made tea and brought it over to her in the little blue mug that she loved, she left it untouched. It was her favorite tea too, honey chamomile. Loki noticed this of course but he chose not to speak of it.
Y/n was still holding hope though for the night. After they had dinner and their tea Loki would read aloud the novel they chose. She’d snuggle close in the crook of his neck to see the words better and partially because she liked to feel the vibrations of his voice. She sat stiff as a rock in her chair now waiting for him to pick the book up and reach for her.
Once again, it never happened.
Instead, Loki stood to his great height and wished her a good night as he retreated to his bed. Y/n watched his form go with sad eyes. Anger bubbled up in her. He had no reason or right to treat her this way. She eyed the book laying on the coffee table and decided she would just read for herself. She managed to jump up to the dark wooden surface of the table and marched her way right to the hardback. As she stood next to it though she realized this would be no easy feat.
First, she had to open it.
The stacked pages came up to her shoulder. A good two inches tall. She dug her fingertips into the cover and lifted with all her might. She was able to raise it but couldn’t exactly get it over her head to fall to the other side. After three more attempts her arms were sore and her fingertips red from her tight grip. She admitted defeat and slumped against the book, wrapping her arms around bent knees.
Tumblr media
Loki hadn’t really gone to bed. He stood outside his room at the door frame waiting for Y/n to call his name. Plead for him to come back and do their daily reading. It saddened him when she said nothing about him leaving her for their walk this afternoon. Perhaps she no longer liked them as much as he did?
He figured that surely she would speak up when they didn’t read. But she didn’t. He had taken post here and began watching what she would do. At first, watching her try to open the book was funny. He then saw how much it angered and saddened her when she couldn’t get it over her head. How she had given up and leaned against it. Quiet sniffles sounded through the air, turning into louder sobs.
Oh no.
He straightened from the wall and beelined for the coffee table. There she sat looking even smaller curled up in a ball. He sat down criss-cross and nudged her shoulder with a finger.
“Y/n?” He said softly.
She looked up at him with red and swollen eyes. Her shirt was stained with tears.
“Oh, my little dove…” He scooped her up and held her to his chest.
“Do you not want me around anymore Loki?” She said shakily.
“Of course I want you around, why would you even say that?” He was taken aback.
“W-well you left me here today and then didn’t want to read at all. I-I figured I had done something.”
Loki mentally winced, it seemed his plan had backfired.
“Oh no, listen Little Miss,” He held her right to his face. A stray tear ran down her cheek, he used the pad of a thumb to wipe it away.
“I only did those things because I wanted you to speak up. This morning with our incident...I realized how dangerous it is if you don’t speak up. I could have killed you Y/n.” She couldn't help but flinch at his vulgar words. Loki noticed this and gingerly rubbed her back.
“So I figured since you like to go on our walks and read together that you would have no trouble speaking up. It seems I was wrong.”
A moment of quiet passed and Y/n looked up at him.
“It’s just hard for me to talk sometimes. It not that I’m scared of you I just worry that I’ll be annoying or you’ll tell me to shut up.”
Loki looked at her tenderly and fiercely. “Y/n I would never tell you to shut up or that you are annoying. Even if you were at the time.” He grinned.
Y/n smiled back at him and leaned against his middle finger. “You know today I was even going to ask you if I could walk in the forest on my own…” Y/n said.
“You were?!” Loki exclaimed.
Y/n laughed and nodded.
“Then we will have to accomplish that task tomorrow but how about I read that book now?”
“I’d like that.” Y/n agreed.
She settled upon his shoulder, a little envious of how easily he opened the book. But when he started reading it was forgotten.
"I love you Lokes." She said snuggling into his neck.
"I love you more Y/n..."

INSIDE
Four walls, it has always been like this. So calm and serene in a confined space closed to changes or disturbances. Simple mental silence within the comfort of home.
The ceiling was opening, the dried drops of paint seemed to dance between them, they shone at some point. By closing your eyes you could continue to see the small points of light approaching and rotating around you.
Everything was so peaceful, until the alarm went off to remind you to buy groceries for the month.
“NoooOOOO” your muffled cry of anger reached your boyfriend’s ears, “Groceries?” he peeked at you from the counter in the kitchen, “Yeah” you were sitting but as soon as the dread took over you, you laid flat against the cushions.
“I don’t wanna go!” he chuckled as he heard you whining, “Come on, we have the list ready, and afterwards we can organize it and eat some snacks” truth to be told he had you at ’We have the list ready’, you would literally scream if you had to search all over your house trying to write down everything you need.
He scooped you up from the couch, although you struggled and groaned, tried to grab the couch but you ended up pulling blanket you had on. “I don’t want to go outside Loki, please!” you squirmed in his palm, hugging the fluffy blanket close.
“You know the agreement, my love, at least six months out to get groceries, the other six we order them online” pouting you shifted and managed to roll yourself in the blanket, “No can do, I’m a caterpillar” he risen his hand to kiss you, “Caterpillars live outside, love” and that’s the comment that made you rise your middle finger at him.
“Y/n, we always have this conversation, and you always end up going” his tone started to sound serious, so you tapped his hand and he let you down, once you were on your feet you started walking out of the living room, “Where are you going sweetheart?” you dropped the blanket, revealing your Stitch pajamas, “Can’t go outside in this, also I’m getting my pills so you don’t have to deal with another panic attack”.
You sounded so sick of it, you always had to be high to handle excess stimulation. It hurt him to have to watch you swallow pills and carry a sedative every time you went out, the worst thing is that only he and your friends knew about it, all because your parents caused that trauma in you.
Loki was furious after learning the identity of your abusers, every family dinner you fought against the urge to cry, and he the one to destroy the place and hang your parents’ heads outside the house so that no one messes with you in the future.
He stopped when you started wearing clothes of his color to distract him from his barbaric instincts.
“Maybe you don’t have to, how about you ride in my coat? It’s cold outside, the fur will keep you warm and close to me” you immediately lighten up and ran to get his big coat, luckily it was folded so you wouldn’t use it as a big cape.
“Good girl, upper pocket you go” he straighten the coat and slip you inside his chest pocket, along with your blanket so you could hug something. He also gave you your pills and a glass of water before going out.
He sewed that pocket, for two simple reasons: He wanted you within reach of his eye and he wanted you to enjoy the view. With him constantly talking to you, how warm you were, and the effects of the pills, you were not paying attention to the voices, nor the looks of the people, nor the horrible comments.
It was just you and him. Outside.
However, your body had already been rejecting the medicine that had been prescribed for several days, but since you had not come out, you did not feel when the effect was no longer helping you.
Arriving at the supermarket, you stuck your head over the edge of the pocket, the building next to it was so tall you thought it was going to come over you, so you hid inside again.
Breathing became a bit difficult due to the heat caused by your change in temperature and the fleece of your coat, so you stuck your head out again.
The aisle of cookies and coffee seemed to close in the distance, the mantels increased in size and you felt that the light burned your eyes.
"Love?" your chest felt heavy, for you the image came to your head that your ribs were squeezing your lungs, but that only made you breathe more aggressively.
The image of Loki looking up was as blurry as pouring water into a watercolor, his voice echoing in your noisy head.
“Would you like peanut butter soft, chunky, or creamy?” apparently your breathing was way more intense in your head, he didn’t seem to notice. “Chunky” you covered yourself in the blanket again, he just looked at you sweetly.
And then the worst happened.
Upon reaching the checkout, Loki had forgotten an item on the list, so your very idiot boyfriend came up with leaving you waiting in line to save the spot.
It was only five minutes, but in your head it was twenty. The eyes around you multiplied, you had your blanket over you but the giggles of the children behind you made you think that they were making fun of you.
"I'm sorry love, but at least it seems that you are fine and without problems" on the verge of a complete heart failure, you stretched your arms towards him, he gladly put you back in his pocket.
"All good?" He got a little nervous because he saw you throw the bags on the kitchen table and walk around angrily.
"Fuck off," you said, finishing putting the cold foods in the refrigerator. “Ok, I understand you are upset, let it out beautiful, you’ll feel better and I can take it” you turned to see him, “I don’t like going out Loki! And you left me alone IN THE FUCKING LINE!!” at the end your voice cracked, “I hate you, they all laughed at me” and the tears rolled down your cheeks.
“The pill is not working is it?” he walked calmly towards you, kneeled and took your hands in his. “I don’t think so” he pulled you against his chest, “I’m sorry my love, I brought your favorite Cheetos, how about you watch a movie while I call your psychologist and ask for another visit?” you groaned and hugged him.
“I already did, this morning, I have it on Friday 17:30” you smiled weakly, “I love you” you gave him a groan and a kiss, he loved your pouting.
First came the anger, then the tears, and then you were a pouting and needy loving girl. He just loved feeling like you needed him, and you did most of the time, so he was in heaven.
“If you organize the groceries without me you will regret it” you warned while kissing his jaw, “Ok you need something yummy and a nap” he said planting a kiss to your forehead, “Don’t tell me what I need…I want to cuddle…please?”.
“And want to play with my hair while doing so?” you nodded, your phobias and traumas brought the little girl inside of you, and he loved it. “My little darling love!” he pulled you up in his arms and spend the rest of the day warm and close.
He actually did left you on propose, he has been doing it for a while to help you get over your fear, the reaction that day was actually quite controlled compared to the first time he left you waiting in line. You were getting better, and one day you would be able to walk outside without freaking out. Baby steps.

_______________________________
It was the 24th of December… the day of Christmas Eve. You'd gotten home late last night, back from the latest mission you'd been sent on, and found the Avengers' compound empty but for the small stack of wrapped gifts placed in front of the door to your room. You'd smiled at your friends' generosity and their little notes wishing you lovely holidays. They all had left already to head home for Christmas, and you honestly hadn't expected anyone to wait around for your return. So you'd packed the gifts your friends had gotten you into the bag with your own gifts for your family and had gone to sleep at last.
Unfortunately, sleep after a difficult mission was hard to come by, and you had been haunted by nightmares most of the night, leaving you thoroughly tired and a little gloomy now that you got ready to head home yourself. Tony had already agreed ahead of time to let you borrow one of his crazy expensive cars, even if only to keep up your cover story for your parents. Because in their eyes, you worked for Tony Stark's PR department, a safe, well-paid and utterly boring 9 to 5 job. That only left you to cover up your scars and bruises with long sleeves and done was the cover story.
Together with your bags (both the ones you carried and the ones under your eyes), you made your way through the compound and towards the garages, just when the early morning light began to flood through the windows and tint the concrete and marble into a cold gloom. Gosh, it was early… but the drive would be rather long and you wanted to arrive before evening.
"FRIDAY, lock the compound once I'm gone, please…" You yawned as you set your stupidly heavy bags down to pick out the right car keys from their place on the wall. Even if you were technically talking to a machine, you always said please and thank you. Just in case Tony would turn another machine into a living thing… you wanted to be on its' good side.
"Do you wish for me to lock Loki inside the compound?" FRIDAY's calm voice replied and your brows furrowed into a deep frown.
"Loki is still here?" You asked in confusion, surprised that you even could lock Loki inside the compound if you wished to. Stark really had trust issues.
"Loki is currently located in his room." FRIDAY answered as calm as ever, and your heart fell… you had to know.
"Is anyone else here?"
"No."
"So it's just me and Loki?"
"Yes."
"Thank you FRIDAY…" You sighed quietly, feeling a rather unpleasant stinging in your heart. Why on earth was Loki still here? It was Christmas… nobody should be alone on Christmas. Especially not Loki, your friend. Best friend, even. And as much as you'd tried to fight the feeling off over the last months, you couldn't help it but feel just SO much more for him than appropriate for a best friend. With all that time you spent together, you honestly wondered when you had started falling for him. Maybe those few months back… maybe right from the beginning. It honestly didn't matter when it had started, only that it was there now. Strong and dangerous and most likely lethal.
Loki wasn't the relationship kind of guy, or at least it didn't seem like it, and you considered yourself lucky that he even allowed this friendship between you.
Yet now, with Christmas literally a few hours away, your heart yearned for him even more than usually. It hurt for him, cried in sympathy and longed to reach out to his own. Wasn't that what Christmas was about, beneath all the capitalism? Love and kindness and comfort?
Before you could stop yourself, you made your way back into the compound, heading straight to Loki's room on the third floor. The least you could do was to ask him to join you for your family's Christmas, even though your mother might quite possibly kill you for spontaneously bringing along a guest. You didn't care about that even remotely as much as you cared about Loki. In utter determination you knocked on his door, and only then started nervously playing with the car keys you still held in your hands. Would he even want to spend a couple days with your family…?
"Y/n!" He stated in surprise once he had opened the door in one swift movement. There he stood, dressed in only black sweatpants and a t-shirt, looking down at you in surprise… and you couldn't stop your heart from almost jumping out of your chest in seek of his comfort.
"Hey Loki…" You finally managed to say with a smile. "Uhm… what are you doing here, still?"
"I… live here?" He rose an eyebrow at you in amusement as he opened the door completely and took a step closer to you. The scent of pinewood and fire and something irresistibly Loki invaded your senses and you had to bite your tongue to keep from sighing in comfortable bliss.
"I mean, what are you STILL doing here, even though it's Christmas? Everyone else is gone to celebrate… didn't Thor go to New Asgard two days ago?" You asked quietly, frowning a little.
"He did indeed." Loki replied calmly, but you could tell by the brief glimmer of emotions flashing through his eyes that he didn't feel as content about it all as he let on. Oh no… even if he tried to conceal it, the pain in his eyes was beyond obvious to you. There simply was no way you would abandon him as well, never.
"And… why are you still here?" You asked again, wide eyes gazing up at him in the sincere hope that he might actually be honest with you and admit that he had been left behind yet again. Because honestly, that's what it always came down to and you wouldn't have any of it any longer.
But Loki only shrugged at you and observed your eyes as if they might reveal to him the secrets of the universe… or maybe even only your most raw thoughts and emotions. Anyway, you felt like he could see right through you, and you didn't know if you wanted him to know what lay beneath the surface of your friendliness.
"Uhm… I was wondering… if you maybe… would like to come home… with me? For Christmas?" You asked reluctantly, not daring to look into his eyes in return. Was this even appropriate to ask?
"What?" He asked quietly, incredulously, after a few long seconds of silence. Now your heart seriously beat so fast it hurt.
"Well, I just… I don't want you to be alone on Christmas. You're my… friend. And I absolutely hate the thought of you being all alone here for a week." You said in all honesty, at last allowing yourself to look into his confused face.
"You… you want me to come along to visit your family?" He asked and his voice was almost a breath, again so surprised that your heart clenched painfully. Was the idea of being invited along so odd to him?
"Yeah?" You replied equally quiet, brows furrowing again in anticipation of rejection.
"I don't think that's a good idea, Y/n…" He gave you a sad half smile. "I'm not exactly what people want to have for good company."
"I want your company." You blurted out before your brain could filter out this outburst of revealing emotions. "I mean… I REALLY don't want to leave you here."
"I don't know, Y/n… don't you think they will be quite upset with you for bringing a random criminal?" He shrugged again, biting his bottom lip in a way that made you want to do just that.
"Well, either they're gonna be upset about me not coming at all to stay here with you or they'll be upset about me bringing you along. You can choose." You replied in a surprisingly confident manner, crossing your arms on front of your chest. Yes, this was definitely the right thing to do.
The smallest of smiles tugged on Loki's lips as he observed your stance. "You're not gonna let this go, are you?"
"Nope."
"And you're aware that norse gods, that Asgardians don't exactly celebrate Christmas, are you?"
"You're a Jotun living as an Asgardian among a bunch of Midgardians. You don't exactly fit in the pattern, Loki."
"I really shouldn't have told you the story of my life…" He sighed, rolling his eyes in amusement, but his smile broadened nonetheless. There was honestly no way that he wasn't happy about being asked to come along, and you started to think that you'd hooked him at last.
"You're coming with me, so get dressed and pack something to wear for the next few days." You ordered with an excited smile that you couldn't quite fight off.
"I don't even like Christmas." Loki tried one last time, rising an eyebrow at you.
"But you like me, so get going." You grinned back, and started pacing up and down the hallway until five minutes later Loki reappeared in the hallway, by your side.
"Is this appropriate to wear for a Christmas celebration?" He asked seriously, and you could only nod in return. Gosh, he looked better than anyone in your family ever had, and he hadn't even REALLY made an effort.
As you both made your way back to the garage in silence, you wondered if Loki would like your family. Because honestly… you usually didn't. Not much, at least. They were a judgmental bunch of retards, who, admittedly, loved you somehow, but still took every opportunity to mock, belittle and ridicule you.
As you moved to pick up your bags on your walk to the car, Loki was quicker.
"Let me do that!" He protested immediately, taking everything out of your hands like it weighed nothing.
"Uh… okay." You replied under your breath as you observed how effortlessly he carried your giant backpack full of presents towards the bright red sports car.
Five minutes later, and still in silence, you were on the road, with you driving and Loki in the passenger seat. He hadn't brought along a bag, but you assumed that he had stored whatever he would need inside those weird pocket dimensions he used for conjuring up anything and everything whenever he pleased.
Soft music filled the cold air inside the car, breaking the silence between you and easing your mind into a comfortable, focused calm. At least it wasn't Christmas songs… you'd be hearing enough of those from tonight on. It honestly wasn't like you didn't enjoy Christmas… you really did, in a way, but spending so much time with your family was beyond exhausting, and usually involved one or the other person crying, too much feigned cheerfulness, too little time to yourself and too many questions from relatives. Thus you didn't really look forward to it as much as you looked forward to spending Christmas with Loki. You wondered…
"Have you ever celebrated Christmas, Loki?" You asked at last, after about thirty minutes of silence.
"I haven't." He replied smoothly. "But Thor has, I think. With Jane and her family, a couple times."
"And this year he's not celebrating?"
"Oh, I'm sure they all celebrate, with their new mortal alliances." He mused. "New Asgard does house a few Midgardians as well, after all."
"And why haven't you gone back with Thor?"
"I was asked to stay absent." Loki replied tightly, and you immediately felt bad for asking. "It's been made more than clear that I'm not welcome."
"I'm so sorry… I really am." You said quietly, blinking at the road a few times more than necessary. "You're always welcome with me, if that means anything to you."
"Of course it means something to me, Y/n." He protested lightly, and your skin tingled pleasantly upon his words. "So… what does a Christmas celebration typically involve? Is there anything expected of me, or of you that I could help with?"
With a smile, you went ahead to explain to him anything that came to your mind about Christmas, about your family and about how the next few days would likely go. All the while, Loki listened intently and curiously and even though you had to focus on driving, you could tell that he was seriously trying to figure out how to make a good impression on your family. You loved him just a little bit more for that, adding up to the alright quite impossible amount of adoration you felt for the god next to you.
_______________
You arrived a few hours later, in the early afternoon, and as soon as you parked the crazy expensive car in front of your parents' house, you could already see the prying eyes of your relatives peeking out from behind the curtains and drapery. Great… how would you explain to everyone that you had brought along the god of mischief and WEREN'T dating him? Maybe you'd just not explain yourself at all and let them think whatever the heck they wanted. They would anyway.
"Loki?" You turned to him before he could untangle his long limbs and move out of the car.
"Yeah?" He turned back to you, rising a brow.
"I'm already so sorry in advance for what's likely to happen." You gave him an apologetic half smile. "Please believe me, I've had every thought about stabbing them a million times before, but it's of no use."
"I'll behave, I promise." He smiled at you in amusement.
"Yeah, I'm not worried about you behaving, but about THEM behaving…" You sighed, and he only chuckled as he moved out of the car. Oh, if only he knew…
Once you approached the front door with Loki trailing behind you, it was already ripped open before you could knock.
"You're late, Y/n." Your mother greeted you with a frown, but immediately looked behind you at Loki. "And you didn't say that you would bring someone."
"Hello to you too." You sighed, giving her the standard brief hug. "Sorry, I… forgot to mention it. Mom, this is Loki."
She let go of you to look Loki up and down with a doubtful, inspecting expression. Loki on the other hand tried his best to smile politely and let himself be ogled.
"I'm deeply sorry, Mrs. L/n, if my presence inconveniences you in any way. I promise, I won't cause you any work at all." He stated in his usual eloquence, mixed with the most velvety voice that had your heart sighing. He really did try… and you were swooning.
Your mother gave him another almost pleased look, then turned to you. "I'm not sure if your father will be all too happy about this. And your… guest, will have to stay in your room with you. Guest room's taken, as is the couch."
"Oh that's fine, really…" You replied a little too quickly as the heat in your face promised to tint your cheeks crimson. "We'll be fine."
"Well, then come on in you two!" Your mother smiled brightly at Loki and ushered the two of you inside. A single gaze at Loki almost made you snort as his expression was both overwhelmed and simply confused as you made your way from person to person to say hi. Yet, Loki stayed close by your side and let you introduce him to all your relatives before at last, an additional chair was pulled to the table and you all sat down for tea, coffee and cake.
"Is that your car, Y/n...?" Your dad inquired curiously after a moment. "Or is it yours, Loki?"
The god next to you actually flinched barely noticeably at being directly spoken to for the first time in the entire afternoon, but you were quicker to reply.
"No, it's mine… why do you ask?" You returned loudly to even get over the voices of everyone else.
"Don't you think that's a bit… exaggerated?" Your dad frowned, eyeing the red Ferrari on the side of the road through the window on the opposite wall.
"I don't know what you mean." You replied with a shrug, stuffing more cake into your mouth. Of course you knew very well what he was saying, but you just couldn't stop yourself from ignoring his conservative ways.
"Well, it's a bit inappropriate for a lady, is it not?" He tried again, giving you that look. Great, now it was sexism too. Maybe you had picked exactly this car from Tony's collection… to mess with your traditionalist family.
"Good thing I'm not a lady." You replied bluntly, shrugging yet again as you turned your head demonstratively towards your other relatives to actively ignore your father's comments. From off to the side, you could've sworn that you heard Loki snort, then engage in a unfathomable discussion with your father about the surprisingly high safety of sports cars.
_______________
The afternoon continued on like that, with meaningless chatter and stupid questions, and you could tell Loki grew more and more bored and definitely more annoyed. However, so did you. And in the early evening, still before the ever-elaborate dinner would be served, you decided to end both your suffering.
"We're gonna go for a walk!" You announced loud enough to catch at least some people's ears. "I want to show Loki my hometown."
"Don't be late for dinner! And don't take the poor guy down to the river, it's freezing out there! You hear me, Y/n? Bring him back in one piece!!!" Your mother called from the kitchen, and before anyone else could protest, or worse, ask to come along, you had already pulled Loki out the front door.
"Do you really wish to show me your city?" Loki asked with a frown, eyeing the already mostly dark sky in suspicion. "Because I doubt that we'll be able to see much in this looming darkness."
"Gosh, no!" You chuckled, digging your hands into your pockets as the two of you sauntered towards the edge of the nearby forest. "I just wanted to get away from my family for a moment. And you seemed quite annoyed by them as well."
"Was I being that obvious?"
"Oh, no, not at all. I've just spent so much time with you, I can totally tell what you think about people." You smiled to yourself in the knowledge that you probably were the only person who really had bothered to get to know Loki this well. And you were quite proud that he had let you in the first place.
"Why do you come to visit them, if you despise them that much?" Loki inquired as he followed your example and buried his hands in the pockets of his coat. As you walked side by side into the dim forest path, you couldn't keep your heart from leaping every time your shoulder brushed his. Did he always walk this close to you?
"I don't despise them, really… I love them, in a way. But I don't agree with them in almost everything. I've grown into a person they don't know how to handle and… honestly, I don't even blame them. They live a life very different from ours, and I'm not to judge if it's better or worse than mine. All I'm asking for is to be accepted as well."
"That seems very reasonable to ask of them… Yet, they don't seem to be that accepting at all." Loki mused and you shrugged in silence, listening to the quiet rustling of the leaves all around you, and the soft whisper of the wind. At last, Loki spoke up again. "I know what it's like to not be accepted by one's own family… I'm sorry, Y/n. That you have to experience the same thing. Even if on a more… earthly level."
You let out a quiet snort, a fairly bitter one, and glanced over at Loki. Even in the fading light of the evening, he still looked like he had come straight out of a renaissance painting. White skin, smooth and pale as any romantic would've killed for, starkly contrasting against the black-turned color of the evergreens. Only the small red pebbles, berries of one or another kind, still stood out from the blackness of the surrounding foliage. They almost looked like Loki's eyes did, sometimes… the thought made you smile a honest smile, for once.
"Can I ask you something?" Loki's voice pulled you back out of your thoughts, and you realized that you had been staring at him for a good while. He didn't seem to mind though, which only made your skin tingle.
"Sure. Anything." You replied a little too quickly, as the two of you came to stop by the riverside that had started to freeze over from the edges. Only the quiet murmur of the water still running beneath the ice filled the quiet around you with sound. It was so peaceful that not even Loki's velvety voice could cut the calm, nor the silence, really.
"Why, by the gods, do you put up a dead tree in your house for Christmas? And then go on to put little plastic things on the tree corpse?" He asked in all seriousness, and you burst out laughing the second he finished speaking. You had expected something deep, or maybe something about your family… but not this. Loki on the other hand looked thoroughly confused by your sudden outburst, then however quite pleased for having made you laugh.
"Uhm… the tree is a Christmas tradition. One puts it up in their home and decorates it with ornaments, then the presents are placed under it. It's actually got fairly little to do with the Christian religion or tradition, but neither has the actual date of the 25th. It's a pagan tradition, I think, that was at some point mixed with the Christian one… but I'm honestly not too big on neither religion nor tradition." You explained in amusement, as both of you watched the wide river still running smoothly in the middle of its bed, only occasionally becoming blurred to your eye by the clouds of your breath.
"You don't concern yourself with religion, but still make all this fuss about religious festivities?" Loki asked in amusement, as his arm came to rest permanently against yours in the softest touch. Your heartbeat quickened.
"The only god I concern myself with is staring at a river with me right now. And Christmas is more about capitalism than about religion for most people anyway." You chuckled, gently nudging his arm with your elbow. Loki only replied with a pleased hum, and both of you fell silent for another while. The forest around you had gotten almost pitch black now, but not the least bit more quiet… the animals, the running water, the wind, the leaves… they all told a story of wilderness, of freedom. You sighed softly, unintentionally.
"And what is Christmas about, for you? If not religion or 'capitalism', as you call it?" Loki asked quietly, in a voice as soft as the everlasting murmur of the water. By now it was probably time for dinner, but you honestly didn't care… even if your mom would kill you. For that, she would need to put forth more effort than she could possibly know, and most likely go through a literal god first. Loki always protected you, at any time, and the knowledge made you smile yet again. The thought of him fighting off your mother made you chuckled, even. But you still hadn't answered his question.
"For me it's all about kindness, gratitude and love. I don't need any gifts or elaborate meals… all I want is to spend some quality time with the people I love." You sighed almost happily, feeling bad for occasionally trashtalking your family. You did love them, after all, and that's what made you come back here every year. That's what made you bring the only other person you loved.
"I like that." Loki replied with a smile of his own. "If you allow me, I will make it my Christmas ideal as well."
"Of course you may! It's not only my personal idea of Christmas, you know… Many people even call it the feast of love." You chuckled, then fell silent for a moment before you finally continued on. "I'm sorry that you don't get to spend Christmas with the people you love…"
"Why on Earth would you say that?" He inquired curiously, turning his head to look down at you.
"You know… because Thor left you alone, and your people abandoned you… and your mother…" You didn't really know how to phrase it without making him sad, but as it looked, you had already succeeded in that. "I'm so sorry, Loki… I'm an idiot."
Now he turned to face you completely, intently, and you moved to do the same so that your chest was almost touching his, as if he was a magnet for your very being.
"I wouldn't really go as far as to say that I love Thor, even though we tend to get along better these days. And I definitely don't love the people of Asgard, who only ever looked down on me. My mother… well, yes, I do wish indeed that she was here with us, but I have come to accept that she has gone on to a new realm beyond our control." He said quietly, but still so very calmly that it made you shudder a little. "But I have you here with me, and that's all I could want."
"Me?!" You asked dumbfoundedly, staring up at him as if he had suddenly grown a red nose and some antlers.
"I don't see anybody else around." He smirked in his usual Loki way that made you want to both smack and kiss him. "Why do you think I came to visit your family with you if not because I love you?" The way he said it was just so natural, as if the most obvious thing in the entire world. As if he had known and accepted it all along.
"I…" You blinked a few times as no words came to your mind. "I… don't know, I thought you came because I asked you to."
"And that's very true." His smirk turned into a sincere smile. "But have you ever seen me do anything asked of me by anyone but you?"
"Well, no… now that I think of it. You always do as I ask, but never really what anybody else wants…" You replied with a small frown. How could you have missed this over literal moths?!
"And why do you think that is, my sweet?" He rose an eyebrow at you in both amusement and adoration, and you couldn't help but stare even more.
"I… I love you, Loki…" You finally managed to say, but your own words seemed to come from a distant place and an even more distant time… as if they had been spoken a million times before.
"I know. I have known, for a while." He still smiled down at you with the very same happily-adoring expression that started to spread on your face as well. "But I didn't think you really knew for yourself, so I kept it to myself as well. Yet, in every gaze, in every touch and every word spoken in silence you said I love you, and in every way I could I replied I love you too."
For a moment, you didn't know what to reply and simply let your eyes speak for you, and Loki seemed to understand nonetheless. Until at last, your mind came back to its usual way of blurting things out at the most random of times. "Well… good thing you love me too, because my mom already told all my relatives that you're my boyfriend."
Now it was Loki's turn to burst out laughing, before finally he moved to cup your cheek with a surprisingly warm and gentle hand. "Well, I am honored… I think. Your family seems to warm up to me, and they will have to bear with me for quite a few more Christmases."
"Oh, you had them at 'deeply sorry'... They already love you. Especially my mom. And if you keep talking about cars with my dad, he might just prefer you over me." You smirked, and relished the feeling of his fingers caressing your skin.
"Good… because I didn't bring any gifts." He chuckled deeply as he leaned down to rest his forehead against yours.
"What, you didn't get your best-friend-turned-girlfriend anything for Christmas??" You asked in exaggerated surprise, making him chuckle yet again.
"Well, since we are going to share your room, you might as well unwrap me as your present tonight." He mused with a mischievous expression.
"I can live with that." You grinned, as his chilled lips brushed against yours in the most delicious manner, tasting of mulled wine, gingerbread and the sweetest promises.

Tumblr media
You and Loki had been dating for a few months now, you never would’ve imagined being in a relationship, much less with a god, even less with Loki, the God of Mischief.
There was slight hesitancy at first, it was always like this with the sparing relationships you’d have as you grew into a woman. There had been internal conflict within you, not pinpointing your sexuality, unsure if you were asexual, aromantic, demisexual?
There was so much information now, you were thankful for it, but all you were really sure about was that you flinched when someone touched you for longer than two seconds.
It was a true struggle, it pained you every step of the way. You longed for intimacy, yet, when someone would place their hand on your forearm to get your attention, you were quick to pull away.
Your coworkers caught on after a few instances, preferring to exchange smiles with you rather than soothing touches.
Yet you mourned warmth.
This was not something addressed with the trickster, at least not yet. You had gotten better, if you knew someone was going in for a nudge or a hand shake, you mentally braced yourself, easing your breathing and withstanding whatever contact you pained through.
Subtle icy arms would snake around your sides, followed by a chilling smirk,  it would be Loki, setting his chin on your shoulder as you did whatever task he caught you doing.
In this particular instance, you were prepping fruit, cutting it up to your liking, consisting of different shapes and forms, displayed across a medium sized plastic container.
“What are you doing dearest?”
He hummed as his eyes peered towards your now jittering hands, at first he thought it was flattering, you getting your cognitive thinking cords all jumbled up when at his touch.
Usually, what would salvage you was his attention turning elsewhere, whether it was you asking for his help or one of the team members walking in to interrupt his affection.
Today, nobody came to your aide, due to the frustration, you couldn’t ask him of everything, you had everything you needed, your mind froze, all you could think about was his embrace and almost as if were some curtain that came loose, dropping to the floor due to a lost bolt, your wall of discomfort just, dropped.
There was no urge to pry him off of you, no desire to run to the other side of the room, this was monumental for you.
For months you kept your silent triumph to yourself, closely.
As months rolled, your acceptance of affection increased like a snowball rolling at a rapid speed down a steep hill. Not only did you accept this, you invited it.
You began to indulge in this warmth you longed for your whole life, it wasn’t your fault you’d dunk yourself in it a bit too much for the frost giants liking.
Without your explanation of why you were this way, or so you assumed, Loki was prone to get irritated from time to time, specifically when it came to PDA around the team, he couldn’t stand them seeing him in such a state, he wasn’t at that level of comfort yet.
When he’d be gone on missions, or just on errands without you, there wasn’t much to worry for, you’d simply slip into one of his cozy sweaters, or t shirts if it was hot, you’d giggle to yourself feeling as if Loki were hugging you the entire time you’d sport his clothing.
At first, Loki didn’t mind, he thought of it as a romantic gesture, letting you borrow his jacket when you were shivering, or if you had nothing to wear as you spontaneously spent the night.
Yet, this became increasingly frequent, he began to run out of clothes, whether it was because you kept them, or they were in the dirty hamper.
He figured maybe a few new additions to his closet wouldn’t hurt.
It did.
They were soon to be surrendered to you.
This wasn’t the only thing that irritated him, you began to need to hold his hand as a small child would during an intimidating task, but there was nothing to be intimidated with during your simple tasks, yet you still held his hand, at times hugged his arm, restricting him from using it.
Loki did his best to avoid confronting you about it, he still initiated cuddle sessions from time to time, or would hold your hand or lean on you as you watched movies, yet sometimes, when he would get frustrated, it would show on his face to those around him, unintentionally.
He loved you, he was learning to accept this about you, yet it was taking some adapting to.
Of course Clint was still bitter about their history, throwing kicks at him whenever he could.
“You sure turned into a cuddly snowman instead of your usual frost giant form.” Clint would snark as you were curled up into your boyfriends bicep.
Loki would just glare as the others would chime in that Clint was only kidding, this was no insult, this was how they all got along.
This was all bs of course, but they didn’t need to get on Loki’s bad side.
The final straw was when Loki bought three other t shirts, one a creamy brown, the two others were black. You had worn the creamy one to sleep last night, awaked in one of the black ones while the spare one was in the dirty clothes hamper.
It had been a long day of meetings, you know, typical avengers stuff.
In no way was Loki looking forward for this, all he yearned for was to come home, get comfortable, drink something warm in his favorite mug, and continue his reading.
Sighing to himself as he pushed the door open only to be greeted by you, wearing his shirt, drinking a cup of warm tea with honey leaning over the kitchen counter, your eyes shot over to see him.
You gleamed, like a puppy waiting for their owner to get back home, you rushed over to hug him, only this time he didn’t hug you back. He huffed, not directing a word towards you which made you pull away in concern.
Loki simply made his way over to the bathroom, only hearing the shower run, you feared you had done something wrong.
Deciding upon making him his favorite tea, you mixed the steamy drink with honey, setting it upon a small plate and walked it over to his room, covering it with a mug topper to keep warm until he got out.
Usually Loki didn’t take long, but maybe he had a tiring day, which in your mind should’ve given him all the more reason to come to bed and unwind.
You stared at the clock blankly, the shower was still running, you simply made yourself comfortable, snuggling under one of his blankets you closed your eyes, just for a second, but it didn’t take long for you to remember.
Growing hadn’t always been sunshine for you, your parents had their own unresolved issues and because of that, they tended to ignore you and your siblings. As you grew older, you didn’t hate them, but you knew this was wrong.
The bitter memory of seeing your classmates run to their parents arms as they were picked up from school stung, this was all you wanted, to be received by warm arms, it all stung.
Nobody knew of this, everyone just thought you were abnormally clingy, some people were like this and you knew those some people, you were simply piled onto that group, but nobody knew of the extent or the why.
Being pushed away was an all too familiar feeling, it even got to the point where your siblings would be uncomfortable with touch, they would hesitate in hugging you back, holding their hands was mostly your effort, the most comfort you ever got was a limp cold damp hand only two years apart from you.
You still persisted, as you grew on and on, you got your first boyfriend your freshman year of high school, you were over the moon. Kissing, hugging, hand holding, that was all included right? Well no, unfortunately you landed a cold heart. He would bail on your dates, stand you up constantly, but you persisted, yearning for a love you saw everywhere. Now, you’re graduated, with only your arms to comfort you.
Months after, you basically took off, left no notice nor any clue as to where you could be found. To be fair, you didn’t know where you were going, but you couldn’t take the isolation of that place. You could’ve sworn your hometown just cursed you.
You only got worse, growing accustomed to the lack of touch, it became something foreign to you, yet, it still became something you longed for.
You awoke to Loki standing before you, with a soothing expression, he was holding your hands, your vision was blurred, but you could distinguish his hand reaching to you, he wiped your cheeks.
Confused you sat up, had you been crying? You looked to the dresser mirror, your eyes were puffy, your cheeks were reddened, so were the circles underneath your eyes, all evidence of your state.
You then wiped your own cheeks, in confusion, but Loki was still holding onto your hand, you were quick to put two and two together.
He must’ve read your thoughts.
You closed your eyes as Loki kept his arms wrapped around you.
“My darling.” His voice was soft, softer than any tone you had heard from him, he was always gentle, or attempted to be, but this was his reaction to you, to discovering something incredibly intimate.
“I would’ve never thought- why didn’t you tell me this before? Please forgive me.”
Loki cradled your head, holding you as if you were going to break, you couldn’t utter a word, your eyes couldn’t stop spilling tears at the exposure of your past. He then pressed his hands against either side of your face and looked to you with the softest concerned look you’ve ever seen him with. He understood now, he understood it all.
Wiping your tears away he kissed your forehead softly, then pulling you in for another hug, Loki was new at this of course, he hadn’t had a romantic relationship in quite some centuries now, but he knew he would do his best with you, he had to.
Pulling you away only to look you in the eyes, he uttered
“Will you forgive me?” His eyes were not piercing blue as they usually were, instead they were clouds from heaven, something you found comfort in.
You nodded wordlessly, once again being embraced against his chest, you looked cute in his clothing anyway, and he would grow to love the affection. After all it would do him some good, to be loved as he always strived to be as a child.
It wouldn’t be long until you both fell asleep intertwined with one another of course.

An off feeling
Tumblr media
A/N: I’m back to posting! Not regularly I’m afraid but my goal is to catch up on the year long challenge since I’m on Christmas vacation now. This is not edited since it’s late and my eyes are bleeding (not really but you get the deal) and it’s inspired by Ally Brooke’s song Low key
Prompt: “...I left it in my room...”
Word count: 1252 (What!?, consider it compensation for my inactive-ness)
Warnings: None that I know of
Loki Laufeyson x gender neutral reader
Something was off. You had known it from the moment you set your foot inside the giant elevator doors. The air just had that scent of mystery to it and the familiar feeling of not knowing immediately, albeit slowly,  made its way creeping up your spine, unleashing a wave of pleasant shivers. You loved this feeling, but at the same time you hated it. Your body being weird like that, you loved the idea of surprises and taking the day as it comes, but when it really comes down to it you’re scared of what’s going to happen next. It was like two different people trapped inside one person.
You knew you shouldn’t have assumed the tower to be empty just because the common room, at the moment, for once, happened to be unoccupied. But you had wanted to try the acoustique in here for an eternity. That’s right. Singing, one of life's greatest remedies for rainy and otherwise boring days had been a passion since childhood. The only problem was that you would prefer to keep it on the low-key for personal reasons. Only because you are one of the Avengers doesn’t mean that your self esteem is through the roof, not everyone’s like Tony Stark, which supposedly is a good thing.
You can’t remember a time when you didn’t wonder how it would be to sing in a room as soon as you walked into it, you just couldn’t help it. It was one of the few ways you could blow off some steam in a more creative manner and if you ever found yourself in a funk of any kind, you sang, you sang all your emotions out and it somehow left your head feeling much lighter afterwards. There was something indescribable in hearing a melody you create resonating between the walls of a room.
There was this one song you had found a way back. It was silly, very so, but you couldn’t help yourself. You had refrained from singing it, or even playing it before, because of the person it reminded you of. You had had feelings for the one and only god of mischief since… who knows, and you were not about to let it slip just because of a silly song. But since there was no one here… there really was no harm in singing just a few lines is there? After a long and somewhat tiring inner debate you decided to just go for it, screw your inner piglet for being so anxious about anything and everything.
Let's forget about our phones until the morning
('Til the morning)
We can post up, no one gets to see our story (Oh no)
I can take you places you ain't been before me
Then, the rest I guess is self-explanatory
All your friends are looking for you
They don't know where you're at
'Cause you left with me
And slipped out the back (Ah, shh)
Low key, low key
You should really get to know me
(Get to know me)
Low key, low key
You should really get to know me (Ah, ah)
Yeah, I know you got some things
That you could show me (Oh oh)
Low key, low key
You should really get to know me
You heard a loud noise coming from behind and as you twirled around you caught sight of the last person you expected or wanted. Loki. He just stood behind the kitchen counter a few meters away knocking a few glasses over on his way over to the coffee machine. You know, for an actual god, someone who descends from completely different realm,  he had found his love for coffee surprisingly fast. But before you let your mind explore that thought further you pulled yourself together. He had heard you sing, there was no way he could have missed it with how the loud music blasted from Tony’s obnoxiously expensive stereo system. Why had you sung that song? Out of all the songs stuck in your head why did you have to choose that one?
you had almost forgotten where you were when a low but smooth voice brought you back to reality.
“Do you mind if I borrow your mug?”
Ok… Not exactly the first thing you had imagined him saying in this particular situation but whatever floats his boat. Your voice was somewhat shaky as you responded, you couldn’t help but wonder how and when he would address the elephant in the room, with Loki you could never be too cautious.
“No, uh, go ahead, I guess..?”
Your mind was a rollercoaster. A rollercoaster picking up speed with each passing second and with no way off. Never had you thought this was how your most secret passion would be relieved, and never in a million years would you have guessed Loki would be the one to do so, especially not while you sung that song. Maybe you should say something? You should definitely say something. That something should probably have been more thought through, but in this case your mouth was faster to act.
“didn’t Thor give you a brand new one not too long ago? Why don’t you just use that one?”
Stupid mouth. Couldn’t it have been something that didn’t ad to the awkward tension spreading in what felt like the whole tower like a wildfire. Loki didn’t lift an eyebrow though, he just continued on with his task like there was nothing wrong. Maybe there wasn’t? Had he really heard you? Something had felt off when you walked in earlier and now you knew what. You figured out what. The mug. Loki’s favourite coffee mug. It had been standing on the small table by the window when you stepped in. How had you not noticed? He had been in the room all the time and you were too caught up in your creative ways to acknowledge his presence.
“It’s a complicated and long story, i’d rather just borrow yours. Where is it anyway?”
Shit. Your mug was currently sitting on your desk, directly in front of a very old photo album and a coffee stained piece of paper you made a mental note to print a new copy of later. You remember how mad you had been when the mission call had gotten in and oh so rudely interrupted your sentimental morning.
“Oh, right… I uh… I left it in my room… I can go and get it though! really it’s no trouble at all I’ll just be a minute-”
You felt yourself begin to ramble and quickly make your way out of the room, but before you could even make it past the nearest sofa you felt a hand wrap around your wrist, successfully causing you to halt mid-step and stumble backwards into a very tall, very lean, and very broad shouldered god. You just stood like that for a moment, neither of you saying a word. Not until you felt him draw in a deep breath. You felt his chest vibrate against your back as he spoke.
“Don’t bother. I’ll just take summon a new one, or two, since you’re here I see no point in drinking a hot beverage by oneself. Maybe I’ll even let you try one of my Asgardian biscuits I have stashed away for special occasions. Let’s just call it one of many things I could show you..”

I’ll Ruin You.
Loki x Fem!Reader
Contains: Fluff, implied smut, a little angst.
Synopsis: There was something about the mysterious man you’d been sleeping with that made you want something more, and one night, you decided to do something about it.
Inspired by the song, ‘I’m a Ruin’ by MARINA.
__________________________________________
Panting heavily, you rolled off the toned body you were on top of, and lay tiredly on the other side of the mattress. You stared at the ceiling for a moment, recollecting yourself before breaking the silence.
It happened again. Where you’d receive a text from Loki asking you to come over, you’d be hesitant, he’d say it was only for one drink, you’d accept his offer, and then you ended up naked in his bed. Like a broken record, the cycle of events repeated over and over. It was now just so normal to spend half your evenings at Loki’s, because you could never resist his charm.
You’d known each other for a while now, after meeting in a bar not far from both of your houses. Usually, you’d go there to drink alone. You’d didn’t really have any friends, not that you weren’t fine with that. But one night, you weren’t the only one sitting at the run down counter with a drink in hand. After exchanging some slightly flirty small talk, well, you can guess what became of that night. Since then, it’d been routine. Honestly, a routine that you hadn’t minded getting used to, and neither had Loki.
He’d become rather fond of you, which was quite odd, because he pretty much despised most of the human race. There was something about you, however, a certain feeling he got from you that just made him want to see you. A feeling that seemed to dig deeper than just lust, but one he couldn’t really define.
It was pretty late, and because your attention had been on something else since you’d arrived at Loki’s, you just noticed the rain pattering loudly against the windows, and the roaring thunder that caused a shiver down your back. Walking back home, like you usually did, wouldn’t be a very enjoyable experience. By the time you’d get home, your clothes would be completely soaked and you were quite prone to illnesses from this type of weather.
Hesitantly, you turned your head to face the man lying next to you. “Would you mind if... I spent the night? It’s just the weather-”
“Not at all.” Loki replied simply, hiding the anxiety he was experiencing. He already knew there was more than just sexual attraction between you two, but he never thought he’d actually have to... do anything besides sex. Sure, you had your playful banter here and there. But he didn’t really know you properly, and you didn’t know him. Loki couldn’t quite understand why he was so drawn to you when he knew nothing of you other than your name.
You nodded thankfully. “Could I borrow a t-shirt or something?”
“S-sure.” His voice wavered as he pulled on a pair of underwear before walking over to his wardrobe and pulling out a simple black t-shirt.
You couldn’t help but stare as Loki looked so effortlessly hot. His biceps flexed as he rubbed his eyes tiredly, and the muscles in his back were practically art. Honestly, he was the most gorgeous man you’d ever laid eyes upon.
Muttering a ‘thanks’, you pulled the shirt he handed you over your head and got out of the bed as he climbed back in. A look of confusion spread over his face.
“Where are you going?” He asked, trying not to gaze in awe at how good his shirt looked on you.
“I was gonna sleep on your couch?” He wouldn’t actually want you to sleep - literally sleep - with him, would he?
Loki shook his head, propping himself on his elbow and looking at you sideways. “You are more than welcome to sleep beside me. It would be much more comfortable.”
Your breath hitched, nodding slowly and sliding back into your space in the bed, still warm from your antics you’d just finished. Once you pulled the blanket up to cover both you and Loki, you couldn’t help but notice how close you were. Although you had slept with him many times, it was almost odd to be so close to him without any sexual intent. His deep eyes bored into yours, and you both took a few moments to process the situation.
“You have lovely eyes,” Loki suddenly said lowly. “Such a brilliant colour, I’ve never really noticed them before.”
Slightly raising your eyebrows, you nervously tucked a piece of your hair behind you ear. “Thank you, I guess we’ve just never properly... looked at each other.”
“Perhaps not.” He smirked, further examine your features. “What about that scar above your eyebrow, how did you get it?”
You let out a laugh. “Uh, when I was really young, I tripped and hit my head right on the corner of a coffee table. That was the first time I ever went to the hospital. It hurt like a bitch.”
Loki and you both chuckled quietly together, and it felt like there were a hundred butterflies in your stomach. You’d never felt so vulnerable around someone... around Loki. It was a feeling that both scared and excited you simultaneously. Why did you feel so much around him when you didn’t like him? Unless...
“I...” You spoke without warning, and you let out a long string of curse words in your mind. “I’m glad you let me stay the night here, and I’m glad I’m not sleeping on your couch.”
The kind words from you caught Loki off guard, as he’d never really been complimented by you - or complimented, period. He wasn’t expecting you to actually say something nice back to him.
“What can I say? I am a gentleman of sorts.” Maybe a sarcastic remark wasn’t the answer you wanted, but he wasn’t really certain where the conversation was going. He wanted to tell you how he felt, but what if you didn’t feel the same? And if you did, then what? Loki tensed at the thought of you finding out he’s not actually mortal, and his Asgardian family, and the fact he’s a frost-giant. You deserved someone who could understand you, who could relate to you and be human with you, not some monster who’s bound to just ruin everything.
“Have you ever liked someone, Loki?” You questioned, deciding to just take the risk.
“Like? I mean, I am able to tolerate a small number of people-”
“That’s not what I mean.” You laughed anxiously. “Have you ever like-liked anyone?”
Loki furrowed his brows. “I am not sure I understand what you are asking.”
You’d noticed that Loki was pretty... proper. He never used typical slang words or even curse words. Maybe there was a better way to word what you were trying to say.
“Uhh, courting? Have you ever... courted someone? Does that make sense?”
“Ah,” Loki seemed to understand that term. Thank god, this is already nerve-wracking enough as it is. “Not for quite a long time, no. Not since I relocated here. Why do you ask?”
Here goes nothing, you thought to yourself. “Well, I’ve never really taken you for the romantic type, and... I know we’ve only ever slept together and it’s never been more than that. But, I think... I think I like you more than that, but you probably don’t feel the same because it’s probably only ever been sex to you which is fine because I don’t expect-”
Before you knew it, Loki had his finger pressed against your lips, easily shutting you up. “Darling, you are rambling... and you are right. I am not the so called ‘romantic type’.” He sighed, turning to lie on his back. “I can not lie, (Y/N), maybe it is not just sex to me either. However, it... should not be anything more.”
Your expression fell. “What?”
“Your feelings towards me are reciprocated, but-”
“It’s okay if you don’t understand what you’re feeling, Loki. We can take things slow if that’s better.” You scanned Loki’s expression for any hint of relief or comfort, but he instead just shut his eyes and exhaled deeply.
“I will ruin you, (Y/N).”
Ruin?, you thought. What could he mean by that? Loki had been nothing but, well, pleasant company - how could he claim to be able to ruin someone?
“I have been experiencing these... feelings towards you for a while now. All those nights I would let you walk home alone during the late hours of night, and when I would deliberately avoid any conversation with you when you would arrive to get straight to the bedroom, I never wanted to act like that - I was holding myself back.”
Your voice at this point couldn’t reach anything above a whisper. “Then what did you want?”
Loki pauses briefly. “I wanted to not lead you on.”
“I don’t get it,” You furrowed your brows. “Why would you be leading me on if you did actually like me?”
“Because it would not be fair, or right. Not to you. It- we would not work.” You tried to intervene, but Loki was adamant on continuing to speak. “I am a ruin, love. I ruin things. Places, people, you name it. And you could add yourself to that list, because it would happen eventually - it always does. I want to treat you as best as you deserve, I want to get to know you, but what we want is not always what we receive. You undoubtedly mean more to me than a person that I sleep with, but that does not mean we should be anything more.”
With your heart aching at his words, you leaned on your elbow and placed your hand on Loki’s bare chest, gazing down at him. “You can’t do that, Loki. You can’t say that you want something more between us, and then just give up because you don’t want to hurt anyone. How are you supposed to know what could become of us if you don’t even give us a chance?”
He placed his hand on top of yours, squeezing it gently. “Darling, I don’t think you quite understand-”
“Ruin me then. Whatever happens between us in the future, we’ll deal with. All I know is that right here, right now, I want you.”
“(Y/N)...”
Before he could interject, you leaned down and pressed your lips against his. The kiss was unlike any other one you’d shared together. It wasn’t lust filled, it was passionate and loving. It meant something. Loki couldn’t just deny you. There was something between you two that he wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to find again. So, he kissed you back harder.
Maybe it was inevitable that Loki would ruin you, or hurt you. Maybe he was right after all, and you should’ve just went home that night. But you didn’t care. You liked Loki. Loki liked you. That was all that mattered, and the choice you made that night was a choice you would never live to regret.
