It’s All My Fault (Gender Neutral Reader)

There is one for the Avengers/MCU that is very similar, mostly just some names are different.

This is also came to me while watching The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, after Finnick’s death. And on with his death, WHY DID HE HAVE TO BE KILLED? WHY COULDN’T GALE HAVE BEEN KILLED? NO OFFENSE (full offense), BUT HE REALLY DESERVES IT!

Y/N fell back. Barely able to catch their breath. Unsure of what they had to do next. It had happened. They had killed one of the only people who they knew always trusted them. Of course others would say it wasn’t their fault as they didn’t send what killed them, but they felt like it was there fault all the same. They were only there because of Y/N.

Y/N felt numb. They knew that everyone was yelling their name. Yelling for them to move. To get up and run. But it sounded like it did when Sean busted their eardrums. They couldn’t even move. Their body was stuck to the floor. Their mind replaying the screaming of their name. The screams of them to help.

Y/N felt someone grab their arm. Pulling them up. Their voice was louder than the others. But even so, it still sounded miles away. What was being said didn’t even register with them. But even with it not registering, they knew what was being said. That they would be back. The Governments Sentinels would be back and they would get them. Get them when they were so close to winning this. If they stayed, they would all be killed.

But what was so wrong with that? Peace never lasts forever. This was proof. Erik was right. With the humans, they’ll always fear the mutants. But...Y/N still wanted to go back. Back to what what they were living in before. Sure, it wasn’t peaceful, but it sure as hell was better than this. Better than innocent people dying left and right. People that they loved dying. Now their home, the mansion, was gone. Any sense of normalcy they used to have was completely gone.

And that was never coming back.

WARNINGS: swearing

A/N: this is my first time making one of these so I hope you like it :)

Because he learnt all the languages he knows, he can also mimic any accent

Like he can have a scottish accent, a british accent, any american accent, german, any accent

He also swears in every language he knows

That's also the first thing he learned in every language

Charles doesn't let him around the children without a supervisor because he tries to teach them all how to swear in every language

Logan is not allowed to be that supervisor because he encourages it

Because of his mutation, he has a certain level of magnetism about him, even when he’s not using his powers

So you could absolutely stick fridge magnets to him and they’ll stick

Charles figured that out by wanting to “test” that as a joke but when is worked he fell in his ass laughing and Erik was just dumbfounded

That day he wanted to see what else could stick to him so they just spent the rest of the day sticking different things to his skin to dee if it would work

He didn’t really know how to Villain at first so he just essentially went into an emo phase

Wearing all dark clothes ((but he’s fucking classy so you know he wore all black suits and fancy clothes))

He will never admit this is anyone but he tried wearing dark makeup but immediately decided it wasn’t for him so that’s a secret he’ll take to his grave

He also listened to the classic emo bands, MCR, Falling in Reverse, Panic! at The Disco

He falls for Raven’s transformations every time she uses it to prank him

She turned into Charles once and walked into his room and he jumped like 3 feet in the air

She also turned into him and did a mirror at the doorway trick

He completely fell for it

He has a H U G E sweet tooth

Like give him any kind of sweet and he’ll be completely preoccupied until he’s finished it

Mans is TOUCH STARVED

His parents were taken when he was just a kid and after that he was with a maniacal douche bag

So he will take any and all physical contact he can get

Like someone goes in for a hug?

He’s already reciprocating

Author’s Note: 😬 Sorry this took so long to get out, I had a little bit of writer’s block and of course my dear friend, no motivation. The reader is gender-neutral cause I wasn’t sure what was wanted.

(Y/F/N) loved their job. They couldn’t explain what had convinced them to teach at Charles Xavier’s school for gifted youngsters; perhaps it was Charles Xavier himself, or more likely, the student’s enthusiasm to learn from them. (Y/N) never expected to be a teacher, considering their high school and college experiences weren’t the most exciting or thrilling. They were almost convinced Teachers hated them, which is why it was ironic that they had become a teacher.

It was a year after (Y/N) had begun teaching that they had met Erik Lehnsherr. He was… different. Not in a bad way, but he was closed off. And he only ever talked to Charles, Raven, and occasionally Hank. For a month, (Y/N) thought he didn’t speak. There was nothing wrong with that either; a few of their students preferred to remain mute, and some students preferred to use Sign Language over speaking to communicate with (Y/N). So, if Erik was mute, it wasn’t an issue. (Y/N) wanted to get to know him better. Which was why they had attempted to be Erik’s friend.

Whenever Erik would enter a room, (Y/N) would casually make their way to him and make small talk. Most of the time they were met with silence. (Y/N) could have sworn Erik smiled the last time they talked to him, so they knew they were getting somewhere. Soon enough, Erik would start responding to them, small-short answers at first, but it was still something. (Y/N) even asked him if they were bugging him when the short answers continued. (He said no, but (Y/N) wasn’t so sure). Sometimes they wished they were an empath so they could get a read on Erik’s feelings, but alas, they were only able to heal an object’s physical wounds. But it was okay because they were a valued member of the team and Charles, Raven, and Hank loved them for them.

(Y/N) was almost worried Erik would never open up to them, but as soon as he joined the staff of Charles Xavier’s school, (Y/N) noticed Erik lingering near their classroom. It was almost as if he was seeking them out. (Y/N)’s heart fluttered in giddiness at the mere thought. Whenever they saw Erik in the halls, Erik would greet them with a hello and a kind smile. It was the best part of their day.

It got to the point where (Y/N) would expect to see Erik before they both went to their respective classes, (Y/N) to anatomy, and Erik to physics. This was why they found it disappointing that Erik was nowhere to be found. They wouldn’t have been too worried because even mutants got the flu and needed a vacation, but it was now the fourth day that (Y/N) hadn’t seen Erik and it was very concerning. Did something happen? Did Erik get hurt? Was he seriously ill? Did he leave again? Did he just not want to see (Y/N)? (Y/N) couldn’t stop their mind from jumping to conclusions. It even distracted them from their teaching, so they would often dismiss their class early. Why waste their’s and their student’s time if they couldn’t concentrate? In fact, with the constant short classes, (Y/N) shouldn’t have been surprised to see Charles stroll into their classroom.

“(Y/N), may I speak with you?” Charles asked once it was apparent that (Y/N) was too wrapped up in their thoughts to notice Charles.

“Hmm? Oh, sorry Charles, I’m just a bit distracted, what’s up?” They asked. (Y/N) sat at their desk hoping the steady position will get them to focus on Charles.

“It’s come to my attention that you’ve been letting the students out of class early the past few days, is anything the matter?” Charles asked.

“Oh, uh, no, I just, I’ve been distracted lately is all,” (Y/N)’s cheeks flushed in shame. They couldn’t let this issue affect their job any more than it already has.

“Distracted… by anything in particular?” He moved his wheelchair closer to (Y/N).

(Y/N) shifted so they could face Charles, “Is Erik okay?”

Charles raised his brows, “Why wouldn’t he be?”

“No reason, I just haven’t seen him is all, I was concerned,” (Y/N) shrugged. Maybe Erik really was avoiding them.

“He’s fine. I mean he was acting odd around me as well, but he said he was distracted. Seems to be a lot of that going on around here these days,” Charles nudged (Y/N)’s hand with a teasing smile.

(Y/N) huffed a small laugh, “I suppose I’m not the only one,” they drummed their fingers on their lap, “Don’t laugh, but I think Erik might be avoiding me and I’m kind of afraid that it might actually be true.”

“I won’t laugh at that, but Erik is a complex person. Sometimes he feels the need to isolate himself when he’s troubled, that could be why he’s been staying away,” Charles shrugged.

Charles had a point, Erik didn’t seem the type to confide in someone if something was troubling him.

Charles grabbed (Y/N)’s hand, “I hope everything works itself out, can’t have my best teacher struggling.”

(Y/N) smiled gratefully at Charles’s blatant concern. He was their best friend and they knew he was merely concerned for them. Before they could respond with reassurance, however, Erik stepped into the classroom.

“Oh, sorry, I- sorry,” Erik ran his hand through his hair, “Can I ask,” He pointed from Charles to (Y/N) “are you… do you two- Anything happening here?”

(Y/N)’s brows furrowed at the question, “anything like what?”

Charles snorted with laughter next to them. He waved his hand as if to apologize but the laughter bubbling from his lips made it hard to believe. “What?” (Y/N) frowned.

Charles dropped (Y/N)’s hand and huffed softly, “Nothing, darling. Erik, a word if you please?” Charles maneuvered his wheelchair outside of (Y/N)’s classroom.

(Y/N) watched as Erik walked out after Charles with a look of confusion. Was there something they weren’t getting?

Erik has had a rough couple of days. Before, Erik would usually brush off any inconvenience and continue with his day. But ever since he met (Y/N) it’s been a little more difficult to ignore the problem at hand. And that problem came in the form of one Charles Xavier. Erik knew someone as wonderful as (Y/N) had to be taken, but taken by Charles? Not that Charles wasn’t a good person, he was the best person Erik knew, he just really hated that of all people, (Y/N) was dating Charles; his best friend.

When Erik first met (Y/N) he knew there was something special about them, and not just because of their power. No, (Y/N) was the most caring, funny, and charming person he has ever had the pleasure of meeting. They always made sure to include Erik when he first arrived, and they made sure that he wasn’t feeling neglected. These small acts of kindness were enough to make Erik fall for them. But again, (Y/N) was with Charles.

At first, Erik thought he could ignore his feelings and simply brush them aside. But that was easier said than done. (Y/N) was always on his mind. Whenever he was in class, in the danger room, driving. There was no escaping (Y/N). So, Erik accepted his fate and became their friend; Only now he’d see Charles around more often, and he’d feel guilty for even fantasizing about (Y/N). Erik was living in hell.

The other day, Erik had the intention of telling Charles how he felt about (Y/N). When he walked into the living room, both (Y/N) and Charles were sat by the fireplace, talking and laughing. He realized he couldn’t get in the way of their relationship. He couldn’t leave again though, it didn’t sit well with him. Instead, Erik chose to avoid both Charles and (Y/N). Whenever he would see (Y/N), he’d turn the other way and pretend like they weren’t there. He altered his route so he wouldn’t run the risk of running into them. When he saw Charles, Erik would find a way out of the conversation and avoid him as well.

This had been going on for a week now. But even avoiding (Y/N) was like torture; he missed them. He wanted to see them smile when he said hello; he wanted to see them laugh when he told a joke. He missed them. So he went to find them. But when he did, they were with Charles. He didn’t know why he felt so disappointed. He had foolishly hoped to get some alone time with (Y/N).

It got to the point where Erik had finally asked if (Y/N) and Charles were in fact in a relationship; It sure seemed like it. He shifted nervously in place, avoiding Charles’s eyes. He wished he was using his helmet right now.

“Erik, tell me, do you like (Y/N)?” Charles asked casually.

“What would make you think that?” He mumbled.

“Oh, I don’t know, perhaps it’s the disappearing act you seem to pull whenever we’re together or the fact that you haven’t spoken to me or them in days?” Charles raised his brows accusingly. He obviously wasn’t as in the dark as Erik had hoped.

“Maybe I just don’t like talking to you?” Erik shrugged.

Charles rolled his eyes, “Please if that were true I’d have known long ago.”

Erik ran his hand through his hair, “What if I did? There’s no chance for me, I know that. And I would never do anything to jeopardize our friendship.”

Charles smiled, “Well, I’m glad to hear that, but there is something you should know. (Y/N) and I aren’t together.”

Erik frowned, “Did you two break up?”

Charles chuckled, “No, you git, we were never together. We’re just friends. I promise. And if it helps, I’m pretty sure they like you too.”

“Really?” Erik grinned. It seemed he could only string together unintelligent answers now that he knew (Y/N) was single.

“Would I lie to you?” At Erik’s look, Charles rolled his eyes, “When it counts?”

“No, I suppose not,” Erik cleared his throat and finally met Charles’s eyes, “Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s someone I should talk to,” He pointed to (Y/N)’s classroom door behind him with his thumb.

“Definitely. I’d wish you luck, but I am positive this will go well for you both,” Charles winked and left Erik to talk to (Y/N).

Erik took a deep breath and re-entered the classroom.

(Y/N) looked up from fiddling with their fingers when he walked in. They smiled when they saw it was him. It was a pleasant surprise. They had expected Charles to come in. “Erik, it’s been a minute.”

Erik shrugged, “Yeah, I wanted to apologize for that. I uh, may I sit?” He motioned to the seat near their desk.

(Y/N) nodded seeming eager.

Erik pulled the chair closer to (Y/N) and took a seat. “First off, I wanted to apologize for my behavior. I shouldn’t have been avoiding you.”

“So you were avoiding me?” (Y/N) asked.

“Yes, but not because I don’t like you,” Erik rushed when he noticed the disappointed look on their face, “I like you a lot actually. That’s why I’ve been avoiding you.”

“That makes absolutely no sense.” (Y/N) crossed their arms over their chest, “You don’t avoid people you claim to like.”

“That’s a good point, but in my defense, I thought you were dating my best friend.” He drummed his fingers on his thighs, “I know it seems stupid now. I feel stupid, but it only seemed logical at the time.”

(Y/N) smiled and shifted closer to Erik so their knees were touching, “You were jealous of Charles?”

“I know, I know. I’m an idiot, but you had to see how close you two are,” Erik defended.

(Y/N) laughed but nodded in agreement, “Okay, I forgive you.” They took Erik’s fidgeting hands into their own, “And if it helps, I like you too.”

Erik beamed, “It does.”

“Good,” (Y/N) let go of one hand and laced their fingers together with the hand they still held, “Now, ask me on a date so we can stop being idiots.”

Erik laughed happily, “very well. (Y/N), would you like to go on a date with me?”

“Erik, this is so sudden,” (Y/N) teased.

Erik rolled his eyes fondly, “Yeah, only took me a couple of months to get the courage to ask you out.”

(Y/N) bit their lip, “I’d love to go out Erik.” They leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to Erik’s cheek.

“It’s about damn time,” Charles’s voice echoed in both mutant’s minds.

Being the daughter of Magneto had it’s perks, but it also had it’s obstacles; you, however, always had to go through obstacles and didn’t have many friends. Hell, you got bullied for that too! You never told your dad and you knew how to keep it from Charles as well. Hank was basically your only friend, but you never told him that; not because you were embarrassed, but because you knew he would tell Charles and your father.

You were in the garden messing around with your ability to shape-shift into any animal you can think of before you heard a voice that was all too familiar to your ears. “Hey, weirdo!” You gulp before shifting from a deer to your regular self, but of course, fully clothed; you learned how to control that, but your dad would cover your (S/T), naked body standing in front of you before putting his over sized leather jacket on your body and zippering it up. You were his child, but that didn’t mean he was going to let anyone see you bare if it wasn’t your future significant other.

It was perfect as it covered every inch of your...personal parts and reached your knees. The thing was, your mutation came earlier than expected because you had a nightmare that involved your father getting badly injured in a fight; your first animal was a lion(ess) cub. Erik found you later that night and automatically took you to Charles.

He was confused at first because of the collar around the wild animal’s neck, but once he read your name, he was fascinated!

Charles agreed to help you control your mutation, but that was at least seven years ago as you were now fifteen. You got known as a weirdo for your mutation as everyone had the ability to control weather, telekinesis, and mind control, control fire, ice, and fly. You felt weak compared to them, but you were stronger. “You got daddy issues and mommy issues, don’t you?” You gulp, but simply shook your head.

Fernando chuckled with a smirk before waling closer to you. “Yeah, you do! Mommy left a week after you were born and daddy isn’t there for you emotionally!” Anger rushes through your body, but you take a deep breath. “C’mon, (Y/N)! Admit it! You’re all alone in this world!” The anger you had began to boil up inside of you as he kept taunting you.

“You’re useless! You’re dad wouldn’t care if you left this school right now! Go pack your stuff; this is no place for a lonely lowlife!” As Hank began walking towards you and Fernando with Charles and Erik by his side along with a robotic dog you always wanted as a little kid, you snapped.

“ENOUGH!!!!” The three men, Fernando, and Corvo -your new robotic friend- stopped and became shocked at your anger. Here’s the thing; your secret mutation has awaken from it’s rest as you levitated from off the ground and the water from the lake began surrounding you. “Is this what you want from me?!” You ask as you brought Fernando from off the ground and allowed the water to surround his neck.

“(nickname), put him down,” you father says cautiously. “I’m stick of being your target because I’m quiet! For the last damn time, I don’t have daddy issues! My father is very much there emotionally, but me being the quiet one, I kept it away from him! Shut up and leave me alone for once in your damn life!” You say through gritted teeth. “I’m sorry!! It won’t happen again!!” He says with fear visibly shown in his face. Then, you began to feel weak.

With the last of the energy you had, you put Fernando down safely; he might’ve been your bully, but you weren’t going to be the cause of his death and/or major injuries. As soon as your power shut down, darkness consumed your body. You figured you were falling to your doom.

You woke up with the sound of a whining dog. You look down and your heart flutters. “Hey, Corvo!” You say before he jumps on your bed and snuggles against your side. “You’re awake,” your dad says with a small smile. You notice his red and puffy eyes before rolling your eyes playfully with a smirk. “You were NOT crying for me, were you, dad?”

He shrugs while petting Corvo’s metal head; good thing he loves to see you happy. “Well, when my child could’ve had a major injury if Hank didn’t catch you because his beast instincts are still faster than my father instincts, but you also never told me about your bully is a crime, then no, I’m not crying for you, smalls.”

You gulp before sitting up and looking down at Corvo while playing with his ear. “I’m sorry, dad. I just felt like if I told you, they’d call me spoiled or ‘daddy’s kid’ and I didn’t want to keep getting made fun of.” Erik sighs and lifts your chin so you’d look at him. “(Y/N), I know it can be hard to fit in, especially being my child, but please tell me these things. I want to get involved and be the father you need.”

You shake your head with a small smile. “Oh, silly Magneto! You are the father I need; with and without your overprotective side!” You hug your dad and he hugs you back. “Dinner is ready, if you want to go down.” You nod into the hug before saying, “Just hug me a bit longer, please.” He chuckled before planting a kiss on your forehead.

You can admit, you aren't exactly the best vigilante around. You get a little too aggressive and you owe your entire identity to the X-Men. Because of that you work alone, protecting your little territory and going about your life just fine. But then Peter Parker reared his little masked eyes at you and you knew you were a goner. So, you work with him and mentor the kid. Sort of. But, it works out just fine.

Now, if only all these other assholes can stop trying to steal him from you. Seriously, first you had to deal with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen before having to fight with Iron Man himself just to see Spiderman. So he might act a bit distant at first as he wraps his head around the idea but then he would talk to you about it and get closer until you two start dating.

Hank

Hank is so surprised to find out that you like him back that he has no idea what to do. He is really happy and smiles to himself, but he’s a bit nervous and insecure and doesn’t want to fully believe you have feellings for him in case he understood wrong, in case it’s not true. After maybe a few days of thinking it over, he would confront you about it to first make sure that what he heard wasn’t just a rurmor. Then when you bashfully admit it, he would have to battle a little with himself and get over his insecurities, but he would ask you out.

It wasn’t like Charles; he had the ability to read minds. It wasn’t like Raven’s, either, who had the ability to literally look like anyone in the world. Hell, you didn’t have anything as close to Erik’s; metal bending. Metal manipulation.

Well, let’s be honest, maybe you liked Erik’s ability to do anything he pleased. His confidence was admirable and the fact that he took pride in his abilities had you wondering why you couldn’t be more like him. Or rather, maybe you just wanted him.

You sat your book down and slapped your cheeks as you tried to focus. You had been on the same page for the past thirty minutes, and you were still as unfocused as you had been when you started.

Raven looked over at you and rose an eyebrow. “That sounded like it hurt,” she said, parting her lips to say something else as another voice rose above her own.

“Raven, Charles and I need your help,” Erik said from the doorway.

Your blush darkened your already red cheeks, and you looked towards him. He must have taken notice of the handprints on your cheeks, but he said nothing.

Raven sighed softly and she stood up, closing her own book. “Come with me, [Your name]. I don’t want to be alone with two boring guys,” she said, taking ahold of your hand. She knew about your crush on Erik; she was doing this on purpose.

You shook your head, but she didn’t let you back out. She pulled you to your feet and she followed after where Erik had ran off. But the entire time, you felt your anxiety form and bundle into who knows what.

You sat right beside of Raven as Charles and Erik talked to her about God knows what. You truly had zoned out, your mind running a mile a minute as you thought about how embarrassing it would have been if Erik had walked in on you slapping your face.

Charles looked at you and he raised an eyebrow. You couldn’t tell if he had read your mind, but the look he gave you made you wonder if you looked as nervous as you felt.

“[Your name]—“ Erik began, but was quickly cut off as you stood up.

“I forgot I have to go and help Peter with something,” you quickly said, giving him a hurried smile. “I’ll see you later.”

And with that, you had ran out of the room. You couldn’t last another minute without something else embarrassing happen.

Instead of going off to find Peter, you made your way out to the courtyard. You plopped down beside of a tree and rested your head against the trunk as you silently cursed to yourself.

“Was Peter turned into a tree? Is this what you have to help him with?”

Your eyes shot open as you heard Erik’s voice. You looked over your shoulder at the man. “What—no, I just—I didn’t know why I was there, so I just left, and it’s not really my business what you guys do anyway, so I just felt really uncomfortable and I just—I’m sorry, I know I’m rambling—”

“—calm down,” Erik softly said, moving to sit down beside of you.

Your eyes widened as you watched him.

“You truly are something else,” he chuckled softly. “I wanted to talk to you about something.”

You swallowed thickly, expectantly waiting for him to continue.

“There’s a mission I have to go on. I’d like you to be my partner for it. I could use your skills—“

You couldn’t help the scoff that escaped you. “I... I wouldn’t be much help. You should take Raven.”

He rose an eyebrow. “I don’t want to take Raven,” he chuckled softly. “I need your help, [Your name].”

You looked down at your hands for a moment, a blush creeping onto your cheeks.

“Erik, I just—I don’t think that’s a good idea—“

“—why?”

You looked at him, not expecting to have to give a reason. But you did so, anyway. “I’ll just embarrass you and myself. I won’t be any help, at all. I’ll just be a blabbering idiot who literally can’t get anything right unless it comes to plants. All I do is mess things up on missions and I don’t want to make anyone upset, least of all you. I’ll just... and there I go, again, embarrassing myself,” you inwardly groaned, running a hand through your hair. “I just..”

He smiled softly at you. “Why are you embarrassing yourself?”

“You didn’t just hear me ramble about anything and everything?”

“I did,” he chuckled softly and leaned up against the tree trunk beside of you. “But I like to listen to you talk.”

You froze up for a moment, your eyes meeting with his.

“You must be joking...”

“Now why would I joke when I like you, [Your name]?”
