Y/N stomps into Emma’s room…
Y/N: I heard you talking with Hank. Don’t let him take away your powers!
Emma: what?
Y/N: don’t change anything about yourself
Emma: baby what are you-
Y/N: I know there’s a power difference but I’m okay with it.
Emma: darling-
Y/N: you are amazing and I love you just as you are. Powers and all.
Emma: (giggles) I love you too. Powers or no powers.

Dating Emma Frost HCs!
Reader is gender neutral, requested by @sarah-paulsons-bottom-lip
One word: luxury
She loves it, and if you don't already love it too- you're gonna learn lol
She's not really a settling in type of gal, so you can expect to always be traveling and going places
In as much as she seems to always be up to something, she can have down time too
Vacations from schemes- if you will
Those are the most fun, especially when you can get anything and everything free thanks to having one of the most powerful psychics in the world at your side
Her favorites are shopping trips, but really only to the very high end luxury brand stores
She encourages you to try on or grab anything you like, and if you don't have a particular style (say, like her and her all white outfits) you can be certain she'll help you find one
After all, bad fashion is perhaps the one crime she'll never allow
After a day of spoiling you, she expects the favor to be returned however in whichever way you can
She'll never say no to a quality, romantic night in, if you catch my meaning-
But worshipping the ground she walks on is definitely a great start
But everything can be fun and games and free resorts tho- Emma Frost has an eye for the acquisition of power, and she can't put it off for too long
While there's no guarantee she'll share any notoriety or influence she gets... She'll be more then happy to bring you along on any of her excursions that she can
After all, where's the fun in doing a complex social climb with no one around to congratulate you?
On a personal note: you'll find that Emma is slow to trust and holds many reservations about letting you get too close to her heart
Even as a psychic who can know the true intentions of anyone she chooses to read- it can be heard believing that someone is 100% on her side
She's been at this game of use or be used for so long... It's hard to imagine living any other way
The good news is, while she may not come out and say it... She wants to believe in you, at least
Just keep sticking by her, even in the tough times and especially when she's trying to work through one of her plans
If you have any powers of your own, pledging them to her and her needs is expected-
Actually following through and continuing to be her team player...
Now that will earn her notice
Even if you don't have powers- surely she'll have picked you up as a play thing for when she's in-between work
Once you prove you can provide her an emotionally safe and stable place to return to tho... That's when she'll consider something a little more between you

Being a mutant and joining Xavier’s school…
Tumblr media
X-Men x Male Reader
Warnings: Justin Timberlake shade…
Summary: You’re a mutant and you’re invited to attend Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters…
(A/n: I gave you Emma Frost’s powers because i’m lazy)
(A/n 2: Yet another unplanned fic… i’m so sorry)
(A/n 3: I was gonna write more but word limit…)
——
It all started in school, everything was normal.
You just heard the regular chatter of the students. Then suddenly you heard EVERYTHING, every thought of every single person in the school. You quickly went in to the men’s bathrooms, locking yourself in a stall.
Your head pulsated as if it was about to explode, you felt as if it were on fire. You didn’t understand what was happening. You curled up in a ball on the toilet trying to keep the voices out as tears streamed down your eyes. You have had similar headaches before but never like this.
After about half an hour the voices stopped, you were shaking and sweating, did you have some kind of fever. You got up from the toilet and left the stall. You went to a sink and cupped your hands and splashed some water on your face.
You readjusted your shirt that had gotten a bit messy. You looked in the mirror and noticed something strange, your left hand looked weird, it was glistening looking like some kind of glass. You quickly lifted your hand in front of your eyes… it looked normal.
You then made sure you looked decent before you left to go to the nurse’s office. You told her what had happened about your splitting headache and seeing weird stuff in the mirror. She took your temperature and looked you over, but everything seemed completely normal.
You were scared of the idea of having to go to class and getting another headache in front of everyone. Luckily for you, the school nurse was very nice and wanted to make sure you were okay, so she called your mom and asked if she could come pick you up.
You got in to your mom’s car and she looked at you worried. ”Hi sweetie, are you feeling okay?” she asked. ”Yeah at the moment at least” you said and explained. She was understanding and started driving the two of you home.
As she was driving you started hearing things again, your mom sat quiet, you looked around no people. Then they started growing louder and louder. ”Hey, let’s see what’s on the radio” your mom said pressing the radio button.
And like the flip of a switch, you felt a cutting pain in your head making you lean forwards and groan loudly. ”Oh, come on Y/n, Justin Timberlake isn’t THAT bad” you mom said. Slowly realisation crept up on her that it wasn’t about the pop star’s music playing.
She quickly pulled over the car trying to make sure you were okay. But she soon realised your pain wasn’t going away, so she immediately started driving towards the closest hospital. She also turned off Justin Timberlake, you might be in pain but you didn’t need to be tortured
Even at the hospital the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with you, but they recommended you take some headache medicine and to get some bedrest over the weekend. You tried but the headaches came on and off, keeping you from falling asleep.
While trying to rest the doorbell rang, you walked towards the door and opened it. You were met with a bald man in a wheel chair and a woman with long red hair, you didn’t recognise either. ”Can i help you?” you asked.
The bald man spoke up and greeted ”Hi, my name is Professor Charles Xavier and this is Doctor Jean Grey, mind if we come in for a chat?”.
Oh god… you had become a medical spectacle you thought to yourself.
You let the two in and served tea for the three of you. ”So, why do you want to speak with me?” you asked. ”Well Mr L/n, have you ever heard of mutants?” Professor Xavier asked.
”You mean those guys on the news with those freaky powers that everyone are afraid off?” you questioned. Professor Xavier nodded with a smile and said ”That’s one way to describe them”.
”You’ve been experiencing painful headaches recently, right?” Doctor Jean Grey asked. ”Y-Yeah” you said unsure, had your parents already called in medical experts to examine you…
”We have reason to believe you are a mutant, who has recently developed the power of telepathy” the professor explained. You sat in silence a moment, only being able to then utter ”I… What?”.
”It’s a gift that will let you read and see inside the minds of others” the professor continued to explain. You stood up and found yourself saying ”You should both leave, you’ve found the wrong person… I-I… I’m not a mutant you must be looking for someon- ahh!”.
You were cut off in the middle of your sentence by another sudden headache making you fall to your knees, holding your aching head. The Professor rolled closer to you and put a hand on your head and suddenly the pain eased.
”What did you?…” you asked confused looking at the professor. ”I used my freaky mutant powers to mute your powers slightly, to make them more manageable” he explained with a small smile. ”Look at Jean” he told you and pointed at the doctor.
”Now try to look inside her mind to see what she’s thinking” he instructed. You did as told and looked at the red haired woman, then without her opening her mouth you heard her say ”Hello Y/n” making you stumble backwards.
”How did you? How did i?” you questioned in complete shock. ”How about you sit down and we can answer all of your questions” Professor Xavier suggested.
So turns out you were a mutant.
It scared you but you decided to gather your courage and tell your parents about it… not a good idea. They got terrified of the idea of their son being a mutant and told you to go to your room.
So once you got to your room you made the impulsive descision to run away from home. You were worried what your parents would do… would they call the cops? Is being a mutant a crime?… Professor Xavier had given you his number. So you grabbed your phone and called the number.
He picked up. ”Hello, this is Charles Xavier” he greeted. ”Hey, it’s Y/n, i’m calling about your offer… you really have room for another student?” you questioned. ”Of course, we do” the professor answered kindly.
You packed a suitcase and climbed out of the window, silently sneaking away from the house. You took a bus leading to new york where’d you’d be picked up. A car was waiting when you got off the bus, Doctor Jean Grey was standing by it.
You got in the car and she drove the two of you towards the school. ”Are you nervous?” she asked, you wondered if you looked that obvious or if her own telepathy gave her a hint. You nodded.
”Don’t be you’ll fit right in. We might be a school but we’re also like a family, we take care of each other” she assured you. ”What about my powers? What if i accidentally hurt someone?” you asked. ”We’re gonna make sure you learn to control them, the Professor has dampened your powers and we’ll unlock them little by little, it shouldn’t be an issue” she explained comfortingly.
The car the pulled up beside a fancy looking mansion. You couldn’t help but be awed seeing it. It looked almost magical. You got out and got your suitcase, Jean led you to the enterance. It was just as impressive on the inside.
She showed you your room which you would be sharing with another student named Peter Rasputin, who according to Jean could turn his skin in to steel.
She gave you a tour of the rest of manor, introduced you to some of the other students and then left you to explore and get settled in. As you made your way around you were greeted and welcomed by the other teachers of the school.
The other students looked curiously at you as you passed, probably wondering who you are and what your powers are.
That night you also got to meet your roomate Peter who Jean had told you about, he was tall, handsome and very muscular. He was also very kind as he greeted you. As the two of you got ready for bed he asked ”Considering we’re sharing space now, do you mind if i’m sleeping shirtless?”.
”No, i don’t mind, do you mind if i do?” you returned the question. He gave you a quick flirty look up and down before saying ”No”.

Pairing: Army Vet!Bucky x Teacher!Reader
Summary: With all of his rough edges and impassive glances, Bucky Barnes looked to be the last person you’d find at an elementary school bake sale. Too bad Steve couldn’t make it, and dealing with a class hopped up on sugar wasn’t a feat you could manage alone.
Word count: 2.4k
Warnings: none! Maybe a little sad Bucky
a/n: This was supposed to be a drabble but I loved it so much so it’s a oneshot!! I hope you enjoy :))
Masterlist
~~
Another box thudding against the makeshift countertop sent your third graders into a frenzy. You had given up on trying to tame their excitement after the first batch of cookies had sold out, doing your best to simply hold down the fort until another set of hands could come to help you. The bake sale had seemed like the easiest booth to sign your class up for, but that was before you learned that the PTA had only assigned one parent to come and help you.
And that parent was already… fifteen minutes late? You couldn’t check your phone to find out, a tug at your sleeve tearing your eyes from the parking lot in the distance.
“Miss y/l/n, can I put the cookies out this time?”
You leaned down, smiling at the sweet little girl with blonde, lopsided pigtails. “Emma, you can put the cookies out as soon as you tell me where your daddy is.”
She scrunched her face up in contemplation. “Daddy said he had work today. At the place with Uncle Sam.”
You internally groaned, a smile in the place of a grimace as you held out the frosting-covered cookies. Emma took them with a tiny squeal and began placing them on the plates by the brownies.
Well that was just perfect. Leave it to Steve Rogers—one of the most dependable parents you had in this class—to ditch you on fundraising day. He had signed up for the spot just two days ago; how he didn’t already know he had work baffled you. But you would just have to smile through the pain and try to rangle the seven-year-olds attempting to eat all of the rice krispy treats. At least you had Emma to man the bake table.
Until you didn’t.
All it took was a glimpse of the six-foot something, angry looking man in the hoodie and she was booking it, cookies long forgotten on the cheap tablecloth. So now you had to rangle the seven-year-olds, and make sure Emma Rogers wasn’t running straight into danger. You figured the amount of giggles coming from her meant she wasn’t, but you weren’t about to take any chances.
“Emma!” you called, hastily jogging to the outside of the table. “Emma, you can’t run off, honey! You know the rules.”
She whipped her head around just moments before launching herself into the stranger’s arms, laughing out, “But this is my Uncle Bucky! Miss y/l/n, I know him.”
You sighed, resigning yourself to watch as “Uncle Bucky” scooped her up and brought her back to the bake table. He listened contently as she babbled on in his ear, but his stoic demeanor never wavered. He simply patted her back as she went on and lowered her to the ground when they were stood in front of you, a gentle hand on her head letting her know he was still listening.
After another minute of her retelling the events of the bake sale, she decided she was done talking and that her job needed to take precedence. The cookies were then back in her hands, and you were then alone with Bucky in a sea of over-hyper kids.
“Um,” you hummed out, a slight laugh to break the tension. “It’s nice to meet you, Bucky. I’m assuming you’re Steve’s brother?”
Bucky shook the hand you had extended with his own gloved grip, letting his eyes scan up your wrist and along the planes of your face. “Something like that.”
Another awkward laugh escaped you. “Well, I’m y/n, Emma’s teacher. I was expecting Steve to show up today, but Emma hinted that maybe…”
“Oh. Yeah. I’m here in place of Steve.”
“You’re here to help me with the bake sale?”
The smallest hint of playfulness graced his features. “Don’t think I can handle a bake sale?”
That wasn’t exactly the verbiage you’d use. You were sure this man was more than capable of selling a few pastries, but whether or not he would do it out of intimidation or charm was still up for debate. Emma seemed to adore him, but in the few minutes he’d been here—surrounded by children and up-beat pop music and one too many bounce houses—the man hadn’t smiled once.
Sure, he stopped looking downright angry after his niece had bounded up to him, but you had the sneaking suspicion that school fairs weren’t exactly his scene. If his bulky frame and tied back hair were any indication, he probably spent most of his freetime in the gym or holding people up by their shirt collars.
“It’s not the bake sale I’m worried about,” you teased. “It’s all the kids.”
Bucky leaned his shoulder against the beam of an awning, eyes flicking down to your feet, and then back up to your face, achingly slow. His features gave nothing away as he clenched his jaw imperceptibly, and you arched a brow in silent question.
“You think the kids won’t like me just cause I’m not wearin’ a fancy skirt?” he posed, except this time, you could’ve sworn his mouth ticked up—just the smallest bit.
But smile or not, you still scoffed, “I’m following the teacher dress code, Mr. Hoodie. And for the record, the kids love these things. They like to guess what color they’ll be and write it on the board for the next day. It’s fun.”
Bucky shot his hands up. “You don’t gotta defend the skirt, gorgeous. Never said I didn’t like it.”
Heat crawled up your neck and fizzled in your brain, leaving you lost for words as the endearment echoed there. Gorgeous—you almost wanted to scoff again, but Bucky had turned away from your embarrassment as Emma alerted him of a customer, and you were left to sort out your flustered mind before another student needed you.
Which was quickly, you realized, as Peter—one of your shyest students—requested you help him speak to one of the parents about the ingredients in a cake pop. You leaned down and echoed the words back to him as he listed them off, trying your best to ignore the eyes on you.
Bucky may have been stoic and hard to read, but he certainly didn’t bother with discreteness as he gazed at you below the bake table. He took in every move you made, from the hand you kept on Peter’s back to comfort him through his speech, to the other that you used to tuck your hair behind your ear as you glanced down.
And it made you nervous, but it was the good kind of nervous—the kind you hadn’t felt in a while. Teaching kept you so busy that most of the time, the only other people you met your age were the parents of your students, and you had a strict rule not to date them. Dating apps were always an option, but after your fourth date ending in less than desirable circumstances, you had sworn those off as well.
But Bucky wasn’t a parent at all.
You wiped those sudden thoughts from your mind; the guy had said about three words to you, and it wasn’t as if they were overtly nice. You were probably just taken by his large stature and his calmness with the kids and your heart was speaking faster than your mind, a recipe always set for disaster.
As you stood from your spot beside Peter, a gentle hand met the small of your back, guiding you up with a steadying touch. Your mind didn’t seem to care about logic anymore as the fluttering in your stomach went on a rampage.
“Didn’t want you to trip over the curb,” Bucky apologized, hand still pressed to your spine. It felt… structured in a way, solid. “Skirt woulda been ruined.”
You glanced up at him, meeting the scruff of his jaw before stepping away, slightly breathless, as much as you hated to admit it. “Wouldn’t want that.”
“Would’ve been a disaster.”
You held in a laugh and his eyes tracked the way your mouth moved.
After a few more hours of the same—you, dancing around Bucky’s teasing while simultaneously trying to tame a gangle of kids—you found yourself grateful that you had someone there to help out. It might not have been Steve with his authoritative voice and kind smile, but something about Bucky commanded attention as well, and kids always seemed to love the gruff ones (so did you, but again, mind over heart).
With one final, relieved breath, you started the clean-up process. The kids had all been picked up, so that just left you, a fold out table, and a ton of boxes. But you could handle tables and boxes; they didn’t scream and demand attention.
You were about halfway into failing at closing the legs of the table, when that voice that seemed to betray your senses piped up.
“Need some help?” Bucky called out, hands pocketed in his jeans, brows bunched together on his forehead.
You huffed out a breath, displacing the hair that had fallen in your face. “Don’t think I can handle a table?”
“After today, I’m pretty sure you can handle more than a table. Just looks like you’re strugglin’ a bit.”
You set down the offending object, nodding your head in defeat. Bucky knocked the toe of his boot into the concrete before striding up and tapping your arm to make you step back. He pushed the leg in with two fingers, the sound of metal plucking against plastic making your face warm. You had been trying at that for over five minutes.
“So I was right then,” you conceded. “You must work at a gym. Or you box? Something where you have insane strength and can explain why I have just been bested by a table.”
Bucky laughed, the sound surprising you and making your lips turn up of their own accord. He sounded so sweet and carefree; he sounded like sunshine and summer nights and you weren’t sure why he kept that so hidden. Emma’s endearing giggles suddenly made so much sense.
“You think I work at a gym?” he finally wheezed out, whispers of a laugh still fresh in his words. “Sweetheart, I haven’t stepped foot in a gym in months.”
You opened and closed your mouth a few times, the only thing coming out a disbelieving, “But you’re huge.”
You slapped your hand over your mouth, mortified, and Bucky didn’t laugh this time, but the smile he gave you almost made the embarrassment worth it. He took a step forward, forgetting the table that sat lamely on the concrete.
“I haven’t met someone like you in a long time.”
You took a beat—a breath to calm your raging heart. “A teacher with too many skirts?” you asked, watching as the crinkles by his eyes faded and the warmth within them didn’t.
“Something like that.” His gaze didn’t leave yours as he spoke. Until he reached down and started back on the table. You tried your hardest not to be disappointed. “But to answer your question—no, I don’t work at a gym. And this table was only so easy because I have this.”
He snapped the last leg closed and reached for the glove on his left hand, slipping each of the fingers off before he revealed gold and silver and black. You marveled at the colors and the shine, wanting to touch it as his knuckles flexed and straightened. Leather gloves in the spring suddenly made sense.
“I think your kids woulda liked this a little more than your outfits. Didn’t wanna outdo you though, so I wore the gloves,” he gested, but there was a sadness there, an ache.
“How?”
It was the only thing you could think to say.
Bucky didn’t seem to mind, pulling the metal through his hair before setting his features back into a firm line. “Afghanistan. Don’t wanna put you through all the gory details, but there’s a reason I know Steve, and it’s not ‘cause we’re brothers. After this though—” he tapped the metal “—might as well be.”
You knew Steve had served, you had just never seen any effects of it on him. There was nothing physical left behind as a reminder, nothing he had to keep hidden behind gloves or jackets or impassive looks. He was always so bright, and after the laugh that had escaped this brooding man in front of you, you wondered if Bucky had been bright too.
The thought made your chest hurt, because there was so much you had missed when you first saw him, like the hidden lightness in his eyes and the way he looked at Emma. There was so much you were sure he deserved; you longed to tell him so many things, but Bucky Barnes didn’t seem like one for sympathy, so instead, you fought the pain in your chest and thought of him.
“Yeah, I think the kids would have loved your arm… but does it change colors?”
His gaze shot up to you, the last bit of a forlorn emotion leaving him. He appraised you for a moment, tilting his head to the side and taking another step forward until the space between you was shared. The thought that he might be angry had your lungs in a vice, until—
“Let me take you out to dinner.”
You let your breath go, squeaking out, “What?”
“Dinner. Might wanna meet there since I brought my bike and I’m not too sure how well your outfit would fare.”
You blinked, and then blinked again, completely at a loss for words before him. You had no idea how this conversation had landed on dinner, or a date, with Bucky, but the prospect of it had you both excited and reeling.
“I—”
Bucky reached up and tucked your hair behind your ear, the metal cooling your cheek as he asked again, “Let me take you out to dinner.”
You weren’t sure which part of you was answering as you replied, “Okay.”
From the parking lot, Steve couldn’t hear a thing, but Emma had filled him in on the events of the day. All it took was the whisper of a smile on his friend’s face, and the high-five between him and his daughter echoed in the car, Emma letting out a loud cheer as if she had any idea what was going on.

Who is.....Paige Guthrie | Husk? - A Reading Guide
Tumblr media
Paige Guthrie is an X-Men affiliated mutant from Marvel comics first introduced in 1984. Paige is the younger sister of Sam Guthrie (Cannonball of the New Mutants), and the oldest daughter of the Guthrie family. Paige is known for her passion and drive, as well as for her intellect. Husk has the mutant ability to shed her outer layer of skin and reveal a new state or shape underneath. Her power can cause random changes if she activates it without thinking, but by concentrating on specific chemical or elemental formulas, she can control the nature of her transformation. These shifts in state can leave her vulnerable to mood swings and blackouts, requiring her to be careful when she uses her powers. Despite her character being best known among fans for her relationships with Jono Starsmore (Chamber) and Warren Worthington III (Angel/Archangel) - Paige is a smart, strong, and kind character worthy of focus in her own right. (She's also amazing Appalachian representation in comics <3).
Below you can find a mostly complete record of Paige's appearances through February 2023 complete with totally legal links ;)! I've included context for crossover events and major storylines in the hopes of making this reading list as accessible to new readers as possible!
Beginnings
First Appearances: within these two issues, we get our first introduction to Paige, and the family dynamic she exists in. (While Paige is only present in passing in New Mutants #42, that issue offers an in depth look into the Guthrie family dynamics of the oldest siblings, even if Paige is noticeably absent from this conversation.)
Rom Annual (1979) #3 New Mutants (1983) #42
Child's Play (and its aftermath): In this crossover event, the Upstarts continue their series of games to prove their power and worth to one another. This time, they devise "the Younghunt", a mission to capture all of the surviving members of the New Mutants (some of whom are now members of X-Force) and the Hellions. Paige had secretly followed X-Force, and ends up saving the day with her intellect. The event ends with New Warriors #46, and Paige's appearances afterwards tackle the aftermath of the event, with Cable trying to talk to Paige about her future and her training.
X-Force (1991) #32-33 New Warriors (1990) #46 X-Force (1991) #34-36
Phalanx Covenant: Mutant hating humans that have gained access to Warlock's techno-organic Phalanx virus use it to turn themselves into techno-organic beings. With these powers, the Phalanx are able to change their shape and assimilate organic matter. As a hive-mind they are programmed to exterminate all mutant life. This event sets up Generation X (which is Paige heavy!). The first three issues listed below are the only ones technically part of the Phalanx Covenant event, but some more issues have been included to add a bit more context before the Generation X section :)
X-Men (1991) #36 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #317 X-Men (1991) #37 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #318 X-Force (1991) #42
Training with the X-Men
Generation X: A new team of mutants under the leadership of Sean Cassidy (Banshee) and Emma Frost (The White Queen) is formed at the Massachusetts campus of the Xavier Institute. The goal of this team is to earn an education and learn how to become the next generation of X-Men- their focus is not to fight villains. Paige is featured heavily in this book and is one of the main team members!
Generation X (1994) #1-9, Annual #1, 10-21, Annual #2, 22-23, Annual #3, 24-40, 1/2, 41 X-Men Unlimited (1993) #20 Generation X (1994) 42-49, Annual #4 Generation X Holiday Special Generation X (1994) #50 X-Man(1995) #50 Generation X (1994) #51 X-Force (1991) #87 Generation X (1994) #52-56 Wolverine (1988) #141 Generation X (1994) #57-58, Annual #5, 59-75
Post-Graduation
Uncanny X-Men: Generation X ends with #75 and from there Paige's next appearances are found within the pages of Uncanny X-Men. In this arc, we see Paige recruited by Sean Cassidy (Banshee) onto the paramilitary team, X-Corps (this plotline is certainly a choice made by Marvel comics). While X-Corps was not a long lived team, and the arc mostly happens in Uncanny X-Men #403-406, the rest of the Uncanny X-Men and related/chronological plotlines are listed here as well - this leads directly into M-Day.
Uncanny X-Men (1981) #403-426 Exiles (2001) #28-30 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #427-441 Weapon X (2002) #15, 18
House of M/M-Day: After altering reality so mutants were the dominant race, the Scarlet Witch then changed reality again, this time attempting to rid the world of the mutant gene, by casting another spell, "No More Mutants", de-powering the vast majority of mutants.
Excalibur (2004) #11-13 X-Men (1991) #165 Decimation: House of M - The Day After
Sentinels: The Sentinels were artificially intelligent robots designed to hunt mutantkind. Although a prototype was developed in San Francisco in 1906, the modern Sentinels were first created by Dr. Bolivar Trask. His intention was to use them to save humanity from what he saw as an impending threat to the species' existence due to the increasing numbers of emerging mutants. Sentinels have long been one of the largest threats to mutantkind in X-comics and at this point in comics are one of the greatest threats to them from the government. Especially when so many mutants have been depowered as the result of M-Day/Decimation. This section also touches on Divided We Stand, a synopsis is linked here for ease of understanding.
Uncanny X-Men (1981) #469-472 New X-Men (2004) #24-32 X-Men: Divided We Stand (2008) #1
Secret Invasion: TW: THIS EVENT IS TIED PRETTY HEAVILY INTO ANTISEMITIC TROPES PROCEED WITH CAUTION The premise of Secret Invasion is that the Skrull empire, in a bid to take control of earth, replaces several super-powered humans/humanoids on earth with Skrulls.
Secret Invasion X-Men (2008) #2-4
Utopia: Within the Utopia event (connected to the Utopia base that used to be Asteroid M), Scott Summers (Cyclops) instructs Logan Howlett (Wolverine) to create a new secret X-Force team to act as something like a black-ops squad. Meanwhile, Norman Osborne (of Spider-Man, Green Goblin fame) had promised Emma Frost (White Queen) that he would spare the mutant society in San Francisco if she kept them in line. This event is heralded by secret-keeping with a backdrop of anti-mutant legislation being passed in many US states due to Simon Trask's (Bolivar Trask's, creator of the Sentinels, brother) push for a lack of reproductive freedom for mutants.
Dark Avengers (2009) #8 Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men: Exodus (2009)
Necrosha and Second Coming: Necrosha is a crossover event that deals with mutants being resurrected for the dark purposes of Selene Gallio (an old enemy of the X-Men, first appearing in New Mutants (1983) #9) who intends to use these resurrected mutants in her quest to become a goddess. Second Coming is a storyline that builds on the Utopia and Necrosha storylines. The story centers on the return of Cable and Hope Summers, and on attempts to end the X-Men through the destruction of the Mutant Messiah, the aptly named Hope Summers.
X-Force (2008) #22 X-Men: Legacy (2008) #231-233 New Mutants (2009) #14 X-Men: Legacy (2008) #237
Curse of the Mutants: In what can only be described as the "oh shit we've run out of ideas" last resort of any creative company putting out too many crossover events in a short period of time..... the X-Office put out Curse of the Mutants. The arc centers on a human bomb exploding in San Francisco's Union Square, covering dozens in vampire-converting blood. It then becomes the mission of the X-Men to track down Dracula's son Xarus, now "Lord of the Vampires", even if that means enlisting vampire-hunter Blade. Yeah.... I don't know either.
X-Men: Curse of the Mutants - X-Men vs. Vampires X-Men (2010) #5
Age of X: The mutants are almost extinct, tortured by a strike force led by Colonel Graydon Creed. The first signs of the Age of X appeared in X-Men: Legacy #244; the events were removed from the Earth-616 mainstream continuity, with no memories of the alternate lives. If you've taken a look at my David Haller Reading List you'll see this event explained as "David’s desire to be loved forces him to grapple with reality," and as a story that "places David in a role where he has to choose between a false universe where he is considered a beloved hero and reality where he must choose to be a hero despite the fear others feel about him." And while that is the base cause of the event, Age of X also has some absolutely INCREDIBLE moments for Paige (and her relationship with her brother Sam) to shine!
X-Men: Legacy (2008) #246 New Mutants (2009) #23 X-Men: Legacy (2008) #247 New Mutants (2009) #24-27
Regenesis: In the aftermath of Schism, the X-Men re-organize and face new challenges. Imo you don't necessarily have to read Schism to understand Regenesis, but it might be helpful if you want to grasp all the nuance.
X-Men: Regenesis (2011) #1 Wolverine and the X-Men (2011) #1-3 X-Men: Legacy (2008) #260.1 Wolverine and the X-Men (2011) #4-7 X-Men: Legacy (2008) #261-265 Astonishing X-Men (2004) #51
Avengers vs. X-Men: When the Phoenix Force approaches Earth, Hope Summers is assumed its next host. The X-Men and the Avengers are divided on how to handle the situation. The X-Men believe that the Phoenix Force will herald the rebirth of the Mutant Species, while the Avengers believe that it will bring an end to all life on Earth. This leads to a war between Marvel's two powerful superhero factions.
Wolverine and the X-Men (2011) #9 Avengers vs. X-Men (2012) #3 Wolverine and the X-Men (2011) #10 X-Men: Legacy (2008) #266-267 Wolverine and the X-Men (2011) #13-19, 30-41
What comes next?
While many of Paige's appearances take place in or connected to crossover events, there is a blissful period in the 2010s where this is not the case and the stakes aren't quite as high. The events pick up again in 2019 with Age of X-Man, but the following issues take place between Wolverine and the X-Men and the Age of X-Man event.
Nightcrawler (2014) #3-4 Uncanny X-Men (2013) #600 Generation X (2017) #8-9 Spider-Man/Deadpool (2016) #24-25 Generation X (2017) #85-87 Spider-Man/Deadpool (2016) #27-40
Age of X-Man: The name and premise derive from the 1995 storyline Age of Apocalypse, but instead focus on a utopian alternate universe led by the X-Man, Nate Grey. This is.... not the comic to read for Nate, but Paige is here!
Uncanny X-Men (2019) #1-10 (Paige is technically only in #9-10, but all ten issues are highly recommended as they're the lead-up to Age of X-Man!) Age of X-Man: Next Gen (2019) #1-2
House of X and Krakoa: House of X is the event that sets up the founding of the island nation of Krakoa as a safe haven for mutants. These comics also detail the Crucible, a way for de-powered mutants to die in combat and be resurrected with their powers once more.
House of X (2019) #3-5 X-Men (2019) #7 Fallen Angels (2019) #5-6 X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic (2021) #1, 3-4, 22, 24-25, 41 Legion of X (2022) #8
If you have any questions about Paige, or have a specific request on which of her siblings (Sam, Jay, Mel) I should do a reading list for next just let me know! My asks and DMs are open!

“Being Charles Xavier’s Sibling„
Being the sibling of the world’s strongest psychic has perks! Gn reader
Non-Mutant
Would be a great brother honestly
Always cheated in hide and seek
“No way you found me that fast!”
“I’m simply a great player.”
“You totally cheated, Charles!”
He’s support you in any of your endeavours
Likes to go on weekly walks with you and just talk about life especially when you guys get older and have your own separated lives
Probably goes without saying but you would be an advocate for mutants
Raven is basically your sister as well
Def favours you more than Charles when it comes to talking about her problems
Honestly i don’t think he’d let you tag along in the events of X-MEN first class
He’s so fucking soft
Mfs walk all over him and it’s embarrassing
You def would have to defend him in verbal scenarios
Idk if it’s true but he prob plays pool
He beats you more than not
Before he got his fancy wheel chair you would roll him everywhere
Like a little kid with a shopping cart only it’s two grown adults💀
No offence but his fashion sense is horrendous.
You dress him just for the sake of aesthetics
Mutant
Still a great brother
You’ll most likely have similar abilities to him or Emma Frost
Can’t/won’t read your mind
That’s a lie he probably did/tried to once to get you to clean his room💀
Just sibling things
Y’all were low-key menaces as children
Absolute devious duo
He’s so nice but y’know how siblings get when they’re together
Yin and yang Fr
You still dress him bc his fashion sense is STILL terrible whether ur a mutant or not💀
“Why the fuck did you even CONSIDER putting that on, Charles?”
“That’s rather rude…”
Would def want you to be an Xman but would respect if you didn’t want to be
Plays chess with you like the old man he is
Going back to your sister kinda, Raven!
You guys def would get along more
If you had similar ideologies she probably trusts you/confides in you more
If you decided to become an x-men your brother would be ecstatic
While he wants to keep you safe simultaneously he is happy that you’ll help with his vision to have mutants and non mutants living together in peace
If you’re a teacher at the school for the gifted he’ll ask for your input in certain things involving school policy/architectural ideas
You’d help him with any unstable students and it’d get exhausting but worth it to help someone
Despite not needing to be pushed around in his wheelchair anymore you still do it for fun
Cracks jokes about his new bald appearance
You’ve def bought him wigs but he would decline using them
You guys are still hella goofy even as adults
And no matter how old you get you guys will always fight for mutant kind
“A girl I met once told me, mutant and proud.”
“That’s corny as hell, Charles.”

Mixing a few things together for this idea but what about Yanmom!Jean Grey, Yandad!Scott Summers, Yanfamily!X-Men, Yan!Emma Frost and Yan!Phoenix Force with Jean and Scott’s child!Reader??
Like it takes up with Jean being the host of the Phoenix Force and it’s ever so slowly corrupting her but then she ends up pregnant before it can completely corrupt her and instead of sticking with Jean, the Phoenix Force attaches itself to the child growing within her. Therefore the child is born with the Phoenix Force already deep imbedded within them.
Jean, Professor Xavier and Emma all pick up on the fact that the Phoenix Force has made the Reader it’s new forever home basically, at least that’s what it wants to do. And there’s massive worry and anxiety over how the Reader will turn out later in life if the Phoenix Force stays with them. Everyone worries how it will influence the child and what will become of them.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix Force is having it’s own conflict. Having attached itself to the child it grows intensely fond of them. It feels as though it may as well be their parent. The Phoenix Force would nurture and love it’s new darling (in its own way) as they grow together and the longer it stays with them the more protective and possessive it gets. It wants nothing more than to keep the darling safe and protected from any and all threats, unfortunately it sees Jean, Scott and the rest of the X-Men as any other kind of threat to its darling and itself. The Phoenix Force doesn’t believe that any of the X-Men, let alone Jean and Scott, deserve their darling in any aspect and will eventually take the darling away from them and everyone alike.
Now, Emma and Jean’s rivalry will certainly come into play in this situation. When it’s found out that Jean’s child is playing host for the Phoenix Force, Emma’s interest is immediately peaked. She tries to insert herself in the development of the child, not agreeing with how Jean and Scott go about their parenting and thinking she could do much better for the child in the long run. Jean does not take well to this at all. That is her child after all and Emma has the audacity to try and take her place as mother?! She’d be damned to ever let that happen! And thus begins the even more intense and deep seeded rivalry between the two.

EXCEPTIONAL X-MEN
Written by Eve L. Ewing
Art by Carmen Carnero
On Sale 9/4
Mutantkind’s two greatest teachers mold the next generation of X-Men! Kate Pryde has returned home to Chicago following the war with Orchis. Having stepped away from the world of mutantdom, she is nevertheless called back into action as she crosses paths with a trio of new young mutants, Bronze, Axo, and Melee, who clearly need training and guidance. Unfortunately for Kate, Emma Frost thinks so as well!
"Longtime fans of Kitty Pryde can count on the kinds of adventures you expect from her as a classic favorite, while I hope new and old readers alike will get to love this all-new team of young mutants," Ewing shared. "Kitty, the one-time kid sister figure of the X-Men, has to reckon with her own memories—good and bad—of being a child of Xavier as she navigates a role as leader and mentor for a new generation of mutants who are trying to make their way in a time of crisis."
"I always try to strike a chord between appealing to veteran comics fans and new readers, but since so many people fell in love with the X-Men as teens and this book is about a team of young folks, that feels especially important to me here," she continued. "I hope that for some 13- or 14-year-old readers, this might be the first comic book they pick up.
"Working on this series has been a ton of fun already, as Carmen Carnero's art is bringing so much dynamism to these pages and the entire X-team of writers is in a flurry sharing scripts and feedback and ideas," she added.

Marvel creates teams, DC creates characters.
Disclaimer: this is a gross over simplification and greatly limited to the comics that I have read. I can think of dozens of examples that do not fit these observations, but it's what I've been noticing as I (an X-Men kid) fell deep into DC over the past many months. TLDR at the end.
Marvel is incredible at writing teams. Look at how well balanced their x-men adjacent stories are—both within the individual groups and within mutantdom as a whole—and compare that to the absolute mess of the JLA or any of DC’s crossover groups above 2 members.
But, DC knows how to write individuals and (when they’re small) their support networks. Where as Marvel, with the exception of Peter Parker, consistently falls flat and struggles to write compelling individual arcs that don’t rely on external characters or world events.
So much of this has to do with how the franchises were created in the first place.
The JLA is a an awkward mismatch of individually created characters and franchises whose only justifications for working together can be massive multiverse-ending events. This leads to a never ending slew of crossover stories where each issue is 70% dense exposition of stakes that are too high to matter and 10% visually discordant fight scenes. The remaining 20% is split between the characters that bring in the readers (Superman and Batman) and the characters without a solo run—leaving all others as background fodder. The villains are only repeats of an individual franchises. There are no JLA-specific villains (aside from bland cosmic entities) because the JLA is not a team, it is a crossover.
Marvel, whose franchises centre on teams rather than individuals, can have a group (be they the Fantastic Four or the X-Force) focus on meaningful, local, character-driven stories. However, take a character out of their designated group and now you have one fifth of a whole acting as another team’s third wheel. Only long-time, well established characters (currently: Emma Frost), or those created as a solo adventurer (Deadpool), can break the mold. Ironically, I feel the Marvel Cinematic Universe betrayed the strength that Marvel’s comics have—by setting up each post-Civil War (and arguably earlier) Avenger as their own franchise it lost the balance of a team and became instead a crossover.
A point in DC crossovers’ favour, however, is that because all the world-changing events only happen when every major player is involved, they hit the whole world equally. Inner-franchise climaxes don’t become large enough that they should disrupt others. It’s believable (somewhat) that each hero family stays in their own city—a major event to Green Arrow isn’t effecting the Amazons, and vice versa. In contrast, because the groups in Marvel get so big, their problems and scope can get even larger. What happens in one stream (say, the mutants terraforming Mars) should have massive effects on everyone, but it rarely does. (To be fair, I think Marvel has been doing an overall good job at balancing this recently).
The individual based module also works great for minor crossovers. But, this only works so long as the pairing stays small—Superman and Batman can have many team ups against new and original villains, whereas mutant/Avenger duos rarely happen and when they do, they stay firmly within their established franchises' concerns. Again though, these pair ups only work when they're small: compare World’s Finest issues that focus just on Superman, Batman, and Robin, with chaotic ones that cameo the whole JLA.
This isn't to say the individual method treats characters better, in fact, it often makes it worse. Lead characters must stay stagnant, their circumstances and relationships never changing. Side characters must fit their original archetypal role and purpose—if not, they're erased (adult Lana Lang), put in limbo (Tim Drake), or added to an ever increasing support team for a franchise not written for teams (basically everyone). When the X-Men needs novelty, they can just rearrange the roster. If a character no longer fits, they can join another subgroup or (albeit rarely and awkwardly) join another franchise's team (just look at Kitty Pryde's whole history). DC will never let Jason Todd escape Batman's shadow, because he was only ever built to orbit him.
Their treatment of the characters over the course of decades however, is different than its individual stories, and I would much rather pick up one of DC's short side character features than Marvel's. Within a short timeframe, the dynamics switch. Aside from when they're introducing a new mini-franchise, Marvel's short solos often work to push the plot of an adjacent team and the characters are reduced to pieces in a grander puzzle. DC's short solos in contrast exist to spotlight characters, allowing the autonomy and uniqueness that they may loose in the long run.
I don't know which I prefer. I'd love to see the writers/editors of Marvel take over DC for a few years, and vice versa. Might solve some problems.
TLDR: Marvel’s franchises are centred on large teams, and DC’s are on individuals. These both have their strengths and downfalls when it comes to crossovers.
When it comes to teams: The Justice League is a crossover group of individuals, not a team, only focusing on world-ending stories with no room for character arcs. But, the characters have a lot more mobility for small team-ups, and the world feels more cohesive. In comparison, Marvel’s teams are true, well balanced teams. But take a character out of a team, or do small scale crossovers, and they float awkwardly under developed. As large events and characters stay locked in their group franchises, Marvel as a whole feels split into disconnected parts.
When it comes to characters: DC allows for more short term solos but very limited long-term mobility, whereas Marvel characters aren't as stuck in archetypes, but short solos focus on contributing to grander plots rather than fleshing out niche characters.
